Specialty Museums
The Odisha State Museum, established in 1932, originated from a collection of archaeological treasures by historians. Initially focused on archaeology, it now houses over 55,000 exhibits spanning various sections including archaeology, natural history, art and craft. The museum showcases sculptures, terracotta, numismatics, copper plates and fine arts. Visitors can explore musical instruments, rare palm leaf manuscripts, coins and Orissan tribal artifacts among other historical relics.
I visited this place few years back.. but now they have added many new galleries and the collection is very attractive and unique. Kids will learn a lot. As a antique lover I enjoyed each and every gallery. A must visit place.

I went to the Odisha State Museum last month, and it was pretty cool. I loved checking out all the art, artifacts, and cultural stuff there. You could easily spend a couple of hours, or even more, just looking at all the art that shows off Indian and Odisha's culture. Plus, the museum is clean and well-kept. The ticket price is totally worth it. I'd definitely recommend it for school trips and tourists in Odisha.
Kaivalya S — Google review
You will not even realize how your time will pass after going here. You will see many sculptures here. The most beautiful sculpture that I found was the Ganesha idol. Here is the history of each sculpture and here you will see everything from beautiful colours to beautiful things. Be it a garden, animal sculptures or anything else. There was a very lovely painting of Lord Jagannath. That too was very beautiful here. Its entry fee is also very low, so you can go here with your family and children and have a picnic. You can also spend your time here. You can also give your children knowledge of colors. I have seen many families here who have come to spend time with their children and to teach them.

It's one the hiking places that requires a pair of good legs, you have to walk a lot if you want to learn otherwise it's a waste of time. That place contains place for aestheticity and is a broad place to be proud of our culture. You may ask the guides to describe more than what you already see, no cafeteria but water filter is there, you can take food just don't litter around. A beautiful garden and rooms having ACs, perfect place to visit during summer. Science, Arts students must visit, idk about commerce but they should visit too just be proud of their culture.
Ananya D — Google review
A very beautiful museum with a good cloak room! You can learn a lot about Buddha, as well as see an excellent display of mines and minerals. Other sections are also quite good. It’s a great place for school students to visit. Don’t forget to carry a water bottle. They charge an extra ₹10 for mobile photography
Santosh S — Google review
It's a fantastic place to explore—definitely worth visiting at least once. You can even go with kids; it's suitable for a family outing. I couldn’t see the entire museum because I arrived at 4 PM and it closed by 5:30. If you're planning a visit, make sure to set aside at least 2 to 3 hours to fully enjoy it.
Sidharth M — Google review
Museum is where artifacts as well as history is preserved. One have to buy ticket for entry and parking is available inside the premises. Parking is free of cost. Visit once with family and friends. Good for children and beside museum park is there for enjoy. Wheelchair facility is available. Lift is also there. Inside the museum courtyard there is a garden for taking good pictures. Anyone who loves art, can give a visit to the art gallery and praise the artist's painting.

A vey big museum full of heritage, culture and knowledge. A must visit place in Bhubaneswar. Better to keep at least half a day to cover it fully and admire the well curated galleries. One missing point is a nice cafe or lunch house there

Nandankanan Zoological Park, located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is a sprawling 437-hectare zoo and botanical garden established in 1960. It's home to over 1,500 animals including white tigers and pangolins. The park offers various attractions such as boating, safaris featuring white tigers, lions, bears and herbivores, a reptile park, zoo museum, orchid house and an aquarium.
A Wonderful Experience at Nandankanan Zoological Park! Nandankanan is truly one of the best places to visit in Bhubaneswar. The zoo is very well maintained, clean, and surrounded by beautiful greenery. It’s not just a zoo but also a botanical garden with a peaceful environment and a natural lake inside. You can see a wide variety of animals, birds, and reptiles — especially the white tigers, lions, and elephants which are amazing to watch. The toy train and boating facilities add extra fun for families and children. The staff are polite and take good care of the animals. It’s a perfect place for nature lovers and a great spot for photography too. Highly recommended for a day trip with friends or family — a place where you can enjoy nature and wildlife together! 🌿🐅🦜
Nihar A — Google review
Visiting Nandankanan Zoological Park was an incredibly refreshing and memorable experience for me. Situated on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the park felt less like a traditional zoo and more like a sprawling natural forest, offering a rare sense of openness and tranquility. From the moment I entered, I was struck by the abundance of greenery and the spacious layout, which allowed the animals to roam freely in environments that closely resembled their natural habitats. Unlike many crowded zoos, here the animals appeared genuinely cared for, and it was heartening to see them move around comfortably rather than pacing anxiously behind bars. One of the most unforgettable moments for me was seeing the white tigers up close. Having only seen them in photos before, watching their powerful and majestic stride in real life left me in awe. The lion safari and herbivore safari added an adventurous dimension to the visit, making me feel immersed in the wild rather than merely observing animals from a distance. Additionally, the aquarium and reptile house were fascinating, especially for someone curious about aquatic and exotic species, offering insights into the diversity of life beyond terrestrial animals. What impressed me the most was the serene atmosphere. The park was clean, well-organized, and calm, allowing me to enjoy long, leisurely walks while soaking in the beauty of nature. Nandankanan Zoological Park was more than just a zoo—it felt like a peaceful retreat into the wilderness, leaving me with lasting memories.

Visited after 5 years and so much has changed in a good way. Will recommend getting the electric ride ( for group) and the guide (Aditya). The guide actually made the whole day a very fun experience. Such a chill guy and very knowledgeable about each species of animal. Overall the environment was clean with no litter anywhere. Will recommend visiting after December 21st as some new animal enclosure are being constructed at the moment. Do not miss the bird sanctuary hidden away behind the chained doors.
Saikrishna R — Google review
Nandankanan Zoo is an amazing place to visit! I got to see a wide variety of animals like tigers, lions, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, deer, snakes, and even a honey badger. The zoo is well-maintained and offers a great experience for both wildlife lovers and families. Apart from the animals, I also tried some adventure activities like the train ride and zip-lining, which made the visit even more exciting. It’s a perfect mix of fun, learning, and adventure. Truly a must-visit spot in Bhubaneswar!
Biswobhusan M — Google review
We visited this zoo recently and had a really nice experience overall. The entry ticket cost was ₹50 per person. We also booked a private safari vehicle for ₹1600, which was for 1 hour. A guide accompanied us throughout the ride and gave clear and interesting explanations about the animals and the zoo. During the safari, we got to see tigers, lions, birds, reptiles, and monkeys — it was a beautiful and memorable experience. 🐅🦁🦜🐍🐒 I also bought a fridge magnet for ₹150, which I personally felt was a bit expensive. Parking charges for a 4-wheeler were ₹50. Overall, it’s a great place to visit with family and friends, especially if you love animals and want to learn more about them. The guided safari made the trip even more enjoyable! 🦓🌿✨

Nandankanan Zoological Park is a must-visit destination in Bhubaneswar! The park's naturalistic habitats and conservation efforts are truly impressive. The tiger safari,Bear safari and lion safari are thrilling experiences, while the crocodile park and botanical garden are great for learning and relaxation. The park's cleanliness and maintenance are noteworthy. A great place for families and wildlife enthusiasts. Highly recommended!
Deepak H — Google review
Takes 4-5 hours. Better to go on your self if alone. It takes 80 for Battery Vehicle and 120 for AC Safari bus. Staff is helpful to make you understand how to manoeuvre through. Don’t overly trust the guides. Entry ticket can be bought online but Safari and others have to booked at the gate only. No plastic bottles etc allowed inside.
Proshanto K — Google review
It's a huge one, so be prepared to have and exhaustive walk, if possible day selection should be suitable in terms of climate and have suitable clothing to avoid any dehydration. Free RO water is available at every corner. But remember any disposable item is not allowed inside. We were having usual fridge bottles which is allowed for bisleri bottle I guess they charge some amount or deposit to make sure you don't throw them inside. And snacks in plastic wrappers to be converted into a paper bag 5rs/ paper bag. Traim ride was not available during our visit but ropeway was fun. They have safari in bus (sort of 30 seater) which I find unusual and probably not so fun. We bought the ticket but skipped the safari as the place was overcrowded and safari in a big bus is not so encouraging. You can see all sort of tigers in the captivity including white one. The best thing we like is Giraffes

The Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves near Bhubaneswar are a must-visit for history and nature lovers. These ancient rock-cut caves, dating back to the 2nd century BCE, beautifully showcase Odisha's rich Jain heritage and King Kharavela's legacy. The carvings and inscriptions at Udayagiri, especially the Rani Gumpha and Hathigumpha, are truly fascinating. The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking, especially during sunset. The site is well-maintained and offers a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by greenery. Perfect place to explore history, architecture, and spirituality together. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bhubaneswar!
Amit P — Google review
Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves, just on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, was like stepping into a quiet conversation between history, spirituality, and nature. These ancient caves, carved into hills more than 2,000 years ago, once served as dwellings for Jain monks during the reign of King Kharavela. But today, they offer much more than just a glimpse into the past — they offer an experience that’s both humbling and inspiring. I started with Udayagiri, which is slightly more developed and archaeologically significant. The moment you enter, you’re greeted by stunning rock-cut facades and intricately carved reliefs depicting royal processions, animals, and symbols from Jain mythology. The Rani Gumpha (Queen’s Cave), with its two-storeyed structure and detailed carvings, completely captivated me. It’s amazing to think how such precision was achieved so many centuries ago, using the simplest tools. Climbing through the caves felt like a spiritual trek — not just physically upwards, but inward as well. As I moved from chamber to chamber, I could almost imagine the monks meditating in the cool, dark interiors, surrounded by silence and stone. Across the road, Khandagiri is less elaborate but offers a raw, natural charm. The climb to the top is a bit steep, but absolutely worth it. From there, you get a panoramic view of Bhubaneswar — modern city life unfolding below a hill that holds echoes of ancient wisdom. What made the experience even more memorable was the peaceful atmosphere. The soft rustle of leaves, the chirping of birds, and the occasional sound of a temple bell in the distance made it feel like time had slowed down. It’s a place that encourages stillness and reflection — a rare gift in today’s fast-paced world. Whether you're a history lover, a spiritual seeker, or simply someone who enjoys scenic places, Udayagiri and Khandagiri offer a rich, quiet beauty that stays with you long after you've left.
Vinod S — Google review
Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves are not only significant for their historical and architectural value but also for their spiritual importance. They offer a glimpse into the lives of ancient Jain monks and their practices. The site is surrounded by lush greenery, providing a serene and peaceful atmosphere for visitors.
Deepak H — Google review
The best time to visit this place is early morning because it’s peaceful, less crowded, and the sunrise looks amazing. It’s a must-visit for art lovers, architects, artists, historians, and anyone interested in mythology. I love this place not only for its beautiful ancient caves but also for the lush greenery that has been wonderfully preserved around them.
Shweta A — Google review
We simply loved visiting this architectural marvel. The caves themselves with their intricate work were breathtaking. to think that such constructions were carried out during the ancient period baffles us. The Odisha government seems to be taking sincere efforts to maintain the structures. the footpaths and conveniences for tourists were also good. a must visit place if you are a Bhubaneswar
Sreekumar C — Google review
We recently visited Udayagiri in Bhubaneswar, and it was a wonderful experience. The place is rich in history and offers a deep insight into India’s ancient heritage. The rock-cut caves and carvings are truly impressive and worth exploring. Our visit was made even better by our guide, Mr. Mitra, who explained everything beautifully. He shared the historical background of each cave in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. He was courteous, patient, and ensured we didn’t miss any important detail. Thanks to him, we were able to appreciate the true significance of Udayagiri. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend both the site and Mr. Mitra’s guiding service to anyone visiting Bhubaneswar.
Raju D — Google review
A must visit for anyone interested in Indian heritage , history and architecture . These caves excavated on two hills for use of Jain monks were commissioned in 1 BC and were in use till the time of Somavamshis ( 10 -11 CE) . The rock cut caves are amazing for their artistry and efficient layout . The Rani Gumpha is notable for being a two storied structure . The Hathi Gumpha Inscription found in Udayagiri gives historical details of wars win by King Kharavela ( in 1 BC) and grants and public welfare projects made by him . The monuments are very well maintained . Plenty of Langur monkeys around . Vehicles can only stop for drop and pick up , parking is at a different place . On week ends it gets very crowded . Entrance is ticketed , currently Rs25 for Indians. Separate ticket only for Video Cameras . Open from 8am to 5pm . At the base , one can find dozens of bustling snack kiosks . For safety , there is a police outpost close by .

Rajarani Temple, located in Bhubaneswar, India, is an 11th-century Hindu temple known for its intricate stone sculptures. Often referred to as the 'love temple,' it features sensual carvings of women and couples on its exterior. The temple is named after the red and yellow sandstone, locally known as Rajarani, used in its construction. Despite its name, the temple does not house any deity or conduct pujas.
Raja Rani Temple in Bhubaneswar is truly mesmerizing! The architecture is mind-blowing, beautifully showcasing our rich culture and traditions. The carvings and design reflect the incredible craftsmanship of ancient times. The temple area is very clean and peaceful, providing a silent and serene environment to sit, relax, and admire the beauty around. The Rajarani Temple in Bhubaneswar is a stunning example of ancient Odisha architecture and is often praised for its intricate carvings and serene ambiance. Built in the 11th century from beautiful reddish-gold sandstone locally known as "Rajarani," the temple stands out for its elegant sculptural detailing and unique architectural style that lacks a presiding deity, making it distinct among other temples in the city. Visitors often find the lush gardens surrounding the temple and the peaceful atmosphere ideal for a quiet stroll or photography. It’s especially appreciated by history lovers and architecture enthusiasts who admire its rich heritage and artistic grandeur. Overall, the Rajarani Temple offers a memorable experience with a blend of cultural charm and tranquility.

Raja Rani Temple is a very beautiful temple. When you go here, you will come to know that this temple is very old. It is one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneswar. The garden here is very lovely. It will look very beautiful. It is also very well maintained. You will also get the facility of washroom here. People can go and sit here. You can also spend time with your family or you will have to pay a small entry fee to go here. Caution - If you want to go here, then keep one thing in mind that you should go only after drinking water and the right time to go here is to go either in the early morning or in the evening, do not go in the afternoon. If it is summer time or winter time, you can go anytime. In summer, the sun will fall on your head and you may feel very hot. You may get heat stroke.

Rajarani Temple made in 11th century BC is one of the most beautiful and peaceful heritage sites in Bhubaneswar. The intricate carvings on the red and golden sandstone are simply mesmerizing, showcasing the unmatched artistry of the Kalinga style of architecture. Currently the inner part of temple have no god & goddess statue. The Rajarani Temple has no presiding deity because the original idol was removed when the sanctum collapsed, and it was never replaced. The temple was originally dedicated to Lord Shiva. The lush gardens surrounding the temple are well maintained, making it a perfect place to take a slow walk and enjoy the serenity. What makes it even more special is the calm atmosphere — it’s never too crowded, and you can really soak in the spiritual and historical vibe. Don’t miss visiting during the golden hour; the temple glows beautifully in the evening light. This site is maintained by ASI and they charge ₹20(UPI)-₹30 (Cash) per Indian person. Parking is the little bit issue here.
PABITRA C — Google review
Rajarani Temple, an exquisite 11th-century marvel in Bhubaneswar, stands out with its elegant Kalinga-style architecture carved from red and yellow sandstone . Unlike most temples, it houses no deity; it's called a "love temple" due to its sensual sculptures of couples, dancers, and celestial beings adorning every wall. The temple’s layout features a soaring central spire (vimana) around 18 m high and a pyramidal jagamohana, showcasing fine craftsmanship and mini-spires reminiscent of Khajuraho. Positioned in a well-kept garden, it offers a peaceful retreat within the city. Open daily from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM, a nominal entry fee of ₹20 pay online for Indians and ₹250 for foreigners goes toward upkeep ). The annual Rajarani Music Festival held here in January–February adds cultural charm. While interior maintenance could improve—some visitors note dim lighting and occasional bats—the temple’s artistic finesse and serene setting make it a must-visit for architecture and heritage enthusiasts.

Established in 1990 by the Odisha Government's Science and Technology Department, it is named after the renowned Odia astronomer Pathani Samanta. It is situated near Acharya Vihar square. Here you can watch shows in three languages i.e.English,Hindi and Odia. The theme is mostly related to the Universe. Though they are charging money yet they are not paying attention for the renovation of the planetarium. The screening wall or display is working partially. Seats are not comfortable. Many seats are broken. The seating capacity is not for many people. So tickets are easily sold out

I did visit the place, but I saw a long queue for tickets. I didn’t think I’d be able to get one, so I just explored the surroundings and returned.I haven’t been inside, but I heard that the half of thr screens are broken, and the seats are damaged, which is an issue. However, the outside area is nice, and you can take a walk. For me, it’s just an okay place.

The Pathani Samanta Planetarium offers an okay, but dated, experience, excelling with its immersive space shows and suitable for families and young children interested in astronomy, but suffering from uncomfortable and damaged seating, weak presentation, and partial operation of exhibits. Visitors should confirm show languages, as shows are available in Odia, Hindi, and English, and enjoy the astronomy park with a sundial in the campus. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Pros • Immersive Shows: The planetarium provides shows that can feel very realistic, taking you on journeys through space without the need for 3D glasses. [1, 3] • Educational Focus: It's a great place for children and anyone interested in learning about space, planets, and the universe. [2, 6] • Astronomy Park: The campus features an astronomy park with a statue of Pathani Samanta and a sundial, offering something to see outside the shows. [5] • Multi-lingual Shows: Shows are available in Odia, Hindi, and English, making them accessible to a wider audience. [3, 4] Cons • Outdated and Neglected: The planetarium appears to have fallen into neglect, with broken seats, partially defunct displays, and a lack of renovation. [3, 4] • Uncomfortable Seating: Many visitors find the seating uncomfortable and old, making it difficult to stay awake during the shows. [2, 3, 6] • Weak Presentation: While the visuals can be good, the overall presentation of information is often described as weak or boring, leading to a lack of engagement for some viewers. [3, 6] • Limited Activities: Beyond the main show, there are few other activities or updated exhibits to experience. [5, 6] Tips for Visitors • Confirm Show Language: Before buying tickets, confirm the language of the show to ensure it's one you can understand. [3] • Go with Kids: The planetarium is best suited for children and young families who will enjoy the space-themed content. [2, 6] • Consider Alternatives: If you are looking for a fully updated and immersive scientific experience, you might find better options elsewhere. [1, 6]

Its a good planetarium with some small issues which can be fixed. The planetarium is quite old and need immediate maintainance. The chairs are wooden one might feel like it break when u push it back, it always create sound. Whole 30 min i heard chair sound more then actual show voice. Overall the show was good and informative, i felt they can increase the brightness little more. The show time is from 2 to 5 pm. But they sometime increase the shows as per demand. Ticket u will get only from counter in cash. No online booking. Timing: 2pm- Odia language show 3pm- Hindi language show 4pm- English language show 5pm- Odia language show Price: Adult: Rs. 30 Child: Rs 20

The 36 Yogini Temple in Hirapur, located about 15 km from Bhubaneswar, is a unique and serene heritage site known for its circular, open-air structure and tantric significance. Built in the 9th century, the temple originally housed 64 Yogini idols, though only around 36 remain today, giving it its popular name. The intricate stone carvings, peaceful surroundings, and spiritual aura make it a fascinating spot for history enthusiasts and those seeking quiet reflection. Though not grand in size, the temple's distinct architecture and mystical charm leave a lasting impression. However, facilities around the site are minimal, so it’s best visited as part of a short, well-planned heritage outing.

This a small temple but very beautiful and free from over commercial nature of big temples of Bhubaneswar and Puri. And it's also unique temple and may have some importance for people believing in tantric powers. Garden and a pond is beutiful. A handicraft shop near to the temple on access road is also very nice, the offered rates for real handicraft is quite reasonable.

One of the oldest goddess shrines of odisha built around 10th Century CE. Here you will find the great goddess Mahamaya's presence surrounded by 64 yoginis( Her sevikas). The environment and atmosphere was quite and serene. Must visit during spring or winter season.

A mesmerizing historical gem just outside Bhubaneswar! The Chausath Yogini Temple in Hirapur is a rare 9th-century circular shrine, dedicated to 64 divine Yoginis—feminine energies of Tantra. Its open-air, roofless design instantly sets it apart from other temples, creating a serene, mystical atmosphere that’s perfect for quiet reflection and spiritual connection. The intricate stone carvings and powerful goddess statues, many still beautifully preserved, echo the temple’s profound heritage. You’ll notice each Yogini depicted in unique poses and expressions, symbolizing the diversity and strength of the feminine divine. The narrow, low entrance adds a sense of awe as you step into this sacred mandala. Although modest in size, the temple’s peaceful ambiance, artistry, and deeply rooted history make it a must-visit for anyone interested in Odisha’s unique cultural and spiritual legacy. The entire site is well-maintained, and its aura feels far removed from the noise of the city. Highly recommended for seekers of art, history, or tranquil places to meditate and feel inspired by ancient wisdom.

Yogini Temple in Hirapur, Odisha (also called the Mahamaya Temple), a rare and evocative example of hypaethral (open-air) tantric architecture from the 9th century CE. Situated about 20 km south of Bhubaneswar, this circular temple is one of only four surviving 64 yogini shrines in India Dedicated to the Cult of the Yoginis—64 powerful female deities associated with Goddess Durga/Mahamaya and tantric practices involving worship of the five elements (bhumandala) Found in the rural village of Hirapur, beyond Bhubaneswar—best reached by taxi or private car . • There’s no entry fee, and an ASI caretaker can act as a guide for a small fee (~₹50), often selling a booklet with detailed information . • Ideal visiting time: around 9 AM, after morning puja ceremonies and when guides are available. Avoid monsoon season (June–September) due to flooding risks near the nearby pond and river

Chousathi Yogini Temple at Hirapur, Odisha is known locally as Mahamaya Mandir. There are a lot of goddesses worshipped in this circular temple. During my time as an academic, I only encountered the female form of Ganesh at this temple. Two figures with necked mail resembling Niganta (necked monk) are present. The land is kept clean and in good condition. Visiting in the evening is preferable.

Nicco Park is a sprawling 25-acre outdoor amusement park in Bhubaneswar that has been entertaining visitors since 1998. Partnering with Nicco Japan, the park offers a wide range of old-fashioned rides, a water park, and even a 10-pin bowling alley. It's a popular destination for families and friends looking for an exciting day out.
Its a good place to enjoy with family and kids ... atmosphere is nice and your time will pass once you enter . But now maximum rides not available.. everything is under maintenance for which price is cheap. No fooding counter available right now. Maybe within 6 months it will be completed with a new design and new looks, I believe. You can now just enjoy the peace & get some breeze there by paying 50 only. Kids 2 rides available.

It's currently known as BDA city centre. It's in very bad condition. Most of the rides are closed now. They charged ₹100 for three ride which is not worth it. Water body is filled with sewage water & smell from it is very bad. It makes it difficult to near by play area. It's a place not to visit. Waste of money & time.

The place is not maintained at all, don't waste your money going there. Most of the rides, or almost every ride is wrecked. The ones which are working are in the worst state possible. The garden is not maintained, cleanliness is far beyond imagination. It's better to sleep at home than visit this place.
Harsh M — Google review
Not recommended due to the unpleasant smell from a nearby drain. Many of the rides are in a dilapidated state, and the park lacks proper maintenance, leading to a disappointing experience. It sets a clear example of how poorly managed facilities can destroy the potential of a prime location in the heart of the city.
Tuna R — Google review
Terrible experience as not maintained by authorities. Hardly 2 or three rides are available which was not working due to power failure. Required to improve by authorities. Ticket price is 100 per person but not worth it. Timings of the park is changed to 11.30AM to 8.00 PM, but not updated in website.
Subrat S — Google review
Once upon a time this park used to have so many working rides. But now the ticket itself is stamped for only 4 rides. Out of three are functional. Rs. 100 to me seems a little too high for a govt. managed park. Staff is cooperative, but what can they do if the park itself is very poorly managed. Very few attendance even on a Sunday afternoon. The area reeks with the stench of a nearby drain canal. Being centrally located, most of the earnings probably comes from wedding receptions and functions like that. I hope the area is developed to provide a good place for kids to play and have fun, especially in present times, where most of them are glued to the screens.
Anurag S — Google review
Only if I could give 0 stars . Pure waste of money. This park is in shambles and completely worn out. There is nothing to see or enjoy here. Only 3 rides are working - water coaster, striking car and votex. Even these rides are in poor condition. Visitors will be welcomed by nasty drain smell and lot of mosquitos. For an entry fee of 100 rupees , only God knows where this money is being spent.there isn’t much crowd like it used to be several years ago. Now it is mostly deserted( visited on a Sunday morning). Hardly 20 people were there . Not worth it .

A must visit to discover and understand the tribal culture in Odisha! The museum is air-conditioned and covers different facets of the lives of various local tribes - clothing, weapons, household objects, food, painting/art, etc. The staff were very knowledgeable and provided insights into all the artefacts. Then there are many types of huts - each constructed at scale. Inside each are various object that the people used. It was interesting find a motion based audio description system inside each hut which played a recorded description upon moving the palm over the sensor! There's ample car parking space and the restroom was clean.

This is a great place for anyone interested in tribal culture, offering a detailed glimpse into their way of life. Personally, I’m not very inclined towards tribal history and culture, so I didn’t find it as engaging — which is why I would rate it 3 stars. Ekamra Kanan Botanical Gardens is a sprawling 500-acre park located just 2 km from the city center of Bhubaneswar. It's the largest botanical garden in the city and offers a diverse range of attractions, including a rose garden, cactus collection, musical fountain, and a picturesque lake where visitors can enjoy paddle boating.
One of the best parks in Bhubaneswar, this spacious park has recently undergone several upgrades, especially in the children's play area. It now features multiple slides and swings, making it a great spot for kids. A water fountain has also been added, which typically starts operating after 4:00 PM. Another highlight is the newly inaugurated Cactus House, opened by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi. The park has an entry fee, which likely helps in maintaining a peaceful and less crowded environment. Inside the park, you’ll also find a Koraput Coffee outlet that offers coffee, millet cookies, and millet cake at reasonable prices. Entry Fees: Car Parking: ₹40 Adults: ₹40 Children: ₹15

It's a large park. The day I went it was raining. The lake is in a poor condition; needs cleaning. None of the flower specific gardens were in bloom which is okay since they are seasonal. Some gardens were in a state of disrepair. The cactus house was okay okay - needs more color and variety. The hyacinth pond also needs maintenance and it could be a really good photo spot. The trees are the best part and the birds too. There's a coffe place inside but it was closed the day I went. Entry fee is 40/- rupees per person. It can really be much better than what it is. Gardens and parks are a must in cities and should be diligently maintained by government and civic bodies.

Ekamra Kanan is one of the most beautiful and expansive parks in the city, known for its rich greenery and peaceful atmosphere. It is filled with a wide variety of trees, shrubs, flowering plants, and open green spaces that make it ideal for nature lovers, walkers, and families alike. Inside the park, you'll find a well-maintained greenhouse, a children’s play area, and a cosy Koraput Coffee shop that adds to the overall charm of the place. The park is spread over a vast area and shares its boundary with the Regional Plant Resource Centre. In the mornings, connecting gates between Ekamra Kanan and RPRC are opened, allowing visitors to take long walks that can span 2 to 3 kilometers through a beautifully maintained natural setting. The park is especially popular during its annual flower exhibition, which showcases a stunning variety of blooms and attracts many visitors. One of the unique aspects of Ekamra Kanan is its proximity to the Bharatpur Forest area. Because of this, visitors occasionally spot peacocks roaming freely and, on rare occasions, even elephants can be seen near the forest edge. Though boating was once available in the small lake inside the park, it has been discontinued for now. Still, Ekamra Kanan remains an excellent spot for morning walks, light exercise, picnics, and spending quiet time in nature.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Park, located near Gundamunda Chowk in Bhubaneswar, is a serene and less-visited park that offers a romantic ambiance with its sprinkling fountains and flower beds. Couples can enjoy quality time together amidst the beautiful gardens. The park also provides spaces for yoga and meditation, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. Families can have a great day out here, as the park features play areas for children and quiet spots to unwind.
Out of all the parks in Bhubaneswar, this is the best, it is very clean. This is the best thing. Not many people visit this place and it is situated in a very good location.Whenever I feel like passing the time amidst nature, I come here. There are very good tracks for walking here and there is also a gym for kids to play and exercise which is very good.

This park is beautiful. When I visited for my morning walk, it seemed it was still under construction. There are walking trails, open gyms, swings and activities for children too. It has two walking/running trails. The longer one is approximately 700m and another one which is about two thirds of it's length. Cleanliness was maintained and the crowd was family friendly in the morning.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Park was created to honour the memory of one of the greatest freedom fighters of our country, Subhash Chandra Bose. In reality, however, the park, which seems to have gone to seed over the years with unkempt lawns, a badly eroded jogging track and generally unclean surroundings, hardly witnesses any footfall. The poor lighting and the absence of boundary wall on the one side of the park have only made matters worse. Established in 1998, the park once had grand plans for installing a statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with a fountain around it. Now the entire area is covered with wild bushes with venomous snakes hiding here and there. Md Sarfaz Alam, an electrical contractor who lives in the area, said that such is the fear of snakes that people don’t dare to enter the park during summer and the rainy season. The gates of the park remain closed almost always and the only security man guarding the place has not received his salary for the past two years. “The park opens according to his whims,” Alam added. etc. provide added beauty to the park. For many of us in Bhubaneswar, Janta Maidan is more than just a green space; it's a landmark we've grown up with. As kids, we might have run around its open grounds, enjoying the simple pleasure of space in a developing city. Even now, it remains a popular spot for morning walks and evening strolls, offering a breath of fresh air away from the urban bustle. The park is dedicated to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, a towering figure in India's independence movement, and it's a fitting tribute. The well-maintained pathways, the trees providing shade, and the benches scattered around offer a peaceful environment to reflect and perhaps remember his contributions. The gentle lighting in the evenings adds to its charm. However, Janta Maidan's identity extends beyond just being a park. It's the city's go-to venue for large-scale events. I've attended numerous trade fairs, cultural melas (like the Toshali Mela), and exhibitions here over the years. During these events, the atmosphere transforms completely. The grounds come alive with vibrant stalls, bustling crowds, and the sounds of commerce and celebration. It's a place where you can find everything from traditional handicrafts and handlooms to the latest consumer goods. The annual India International Mega Trade Fair is a particularly big draw. It's interesting how this space seamlessly transitions between a tranquil park for daily recreation and a dynamic hub for major city events. This versatility makes Janta Maidan a truly important and recognizable place in Bhubaneswar. While it might not have elaborate landscaping or amusement rides like some other parks, its open expanse and its role as a central event ground give it a unique character and a special place in the hearts of the locals. We see it not just as a park, but as a vital part of Bhubaneswar's social and cultural fabric.

This park is nearby Khandagiri and Udaygiri Hills, and is located at no crowded place around. I have visited this park quite a few times and there is always an ice-cream guy & a panipuri guy outside the park. The park is well spacious, very friendly for walks, adults and teenagers. It normally would take 15-18 mins for a complete walk. Although won’t suggest going there, extra late nights since it gets a little darker but the perfect time would be the evenings. People living nearby should visit this place at least once! 💯

This park is a great spot for locals to exercise and stay active. It offers a variety of fitness equipment, although a few pieces seem to be missing. Adding more equipment would make it easier for visitors to enjoy a complete full-body workout. The park is also excellent for walking and running, with plenty of open space and a refreshing atmosphere. A valuable recreational space for the community.

Decent only. Negatives : Condition of the restroom is terrible. Equipments are in a terrible state. Looks dull. Positives : But this place is okay even though it is plagued with issues. The Shree Mukteswara Temple in Bhubaneswar is a remarkable 10th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is celebrated for its stunning Kalinga architecture, intricate artwork, and ornate carvings depicting various Hindu deities. The temple's architectural features include a beautifully arched entrance and exquisite stone sculptures adorning the walls.
We were pleasantly surprised here. The temple complex is so beautiful, a nice garden and pond makes the setting so charming. The carvings of temple are well maintained and surprisingly this place is not overcrowded and have no con artist.

Mukteshwar Temple is one of the most beautiful and historic temples in Bhubaneswar, truly living up to the city’s title of “Temple City of India.” The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a stunning example of ancient Kalinga architecture. The intricate carvings on the walls and the elegant torana (arched gateway) are absolutely mesmerizing — it feels like every stone here tells a story. The surroundings are clean and peaceful, making it a perfect place to spend some quiet, spiritual time. The temple is not very crowded, so you can really enjoy the serene atmosphere and detailed sculptures. It’s also a great spot for photography and for anyone interested in history and architecture. Located near other famous temples like Rajarani and Parsurameswar, it’s easy to explore all together. Overall, Mukteshwar Temple is a must-visit for anyone coming to Bhubaneswar — calm, sacred, and artistically breathtaking! 🙏✨

Mukteshwara Temple in Bhubaneswar is one of the most beautiful and artistically refined temples in Odisha, often called the **“Gem of Odisha architecture.”** Built around the 10th century, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a masterpiece of the early Kalinga style. Though small in size compared to temples like Lingaraja, it stands out for its stunning carvings, elegant structure, and iconic **arched torana (gateway)**, which is considered one of the finest stone arches in Indian temple architecture. The temple walls are decorated with intricate sculptures of dancers, ascetics, animals, floral patterns, and mythological figures, reflecting both devotion and artistic excellence. The *Mukteshwara* name signifies “Lord of Freedom,” and the temple is believed to represent spiritual liberation. The peaceful surroundings, well-maintained premises, and minimal crowds make it a perfect place to sit quietly, admire ancient craftsmanship, and take photographs. The temple complex also includes a beautiful tank and smaller shrines, adding to its charm. Unlike many large temples, Mukteshwara feels intimate and serene, with no commercial rush or noise, making it ideal for heritage lovers, architecture students, and photographers. Entry is free, and the temple is open to all. It is also one of the main highlights of the famous **Mukteswar Dance Festival**, held every year in January, where classical Odissi performances take place in the temple courtyard under the open sky. Overall, Mukteshwara Temple is a must-visit for anyone exploring Bhubaneswar—not just for its religious value but for its artistic perfection, calm environment, and historical importance. It feels like a timeless stone poem carved with devotion and elegance.

Located in the heart of Bhubaneswar, the Mukteshwar Temple is one of the finest examples of ancient Odisha-style (Kalinga) temple architecture. Dating back to the 10th century, this small yet artistically rich temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva (Mukteshwar Mahadev). Though not very large, every inch of the temple is beautifully carved — from intricate floral patterns to scenes from mythology. The iconic arched torana (gateway) at the entrance is unique and unmatched in design among Indian temples, giving it the nickname “Gem of Odisha architecture.” The temple is peaceful and less crowded, making it ideal for quiet exploration, photography, or spiritual reflection. It’s also part of the famous “Ekamra Kshetra” — the old temple city area, and is located near other historical temples like Rajarani and Lingaraj.

This temple is well maintained. Usually photos and videos are not allowed in many functioning temples. Fortunately it is allowed here. Puri, Lingraj temple are also built on same architecture. There are many deities in the same temple complex. The same concept is found in south east Asia temples. But most of them are not functional (E.g central Java, Cambodia)

Regional Science Centre Bhubaneswar, also known as Science Park, is a captivating destination for science enthusiasts of all ages. The center offers interactive displays and workshops aimed at promoting scientific awareness and education. Visitors can explore the various exhibits that aim to inspire curiosity and interest in science. Additionally, the park features a garden area where visitors can relax and enjoy the company of ducks. It's an ideal place to visit for families looking for educational yet entertaining experiences in Bhubaneswar.
The Regional Science Centre is beside the campus of Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar and at a walking distance from Acharya Vihar square. I went here on a weekday in the month of March. The experience was good and I spent my day well here. I paid Rs 30 for visiting the park and additionally Rs 20 for visiting the dinosaur park at the counter, both of which are inside the campus of the Regional Science Centre. One can also buy tickets for the science shows, 3D shows for which the fare is separately billed however I didn't watch any show that day. The dinosaur park was opened till 5:30 PM. Talking about this place, there is a lot to explore and it will take a day long if one is interested to look at an instrument or a demonstration and read the description patientfully and completely, try to understand it and then move on to the next one. The thing that caught my attention was 'Motion gallery'. Everything was well managed inside the gallery, aptly described (which makes sense though), and the concepts of Physics (like types of motion, Newton's laws, concept of inertia, locomotion, projectile motion, conversion of motion, wave motion, etc.) alongwith some kind of fun to use instrument to elucidate the concept itself captivated me a lot. I was excited to try each and every working instrument although a few of these instruments didn't work well. There was an auditorium in the ground floor of the motion gallery which I didn't visit. I also enjoyed the science park a lot, clicked photographs, explored various interesting and common instruments installed everywhere. Particularly, I liked the musical tubes, sundial, simple camera, globe scultpture a lot. There was a kids park which kept a lot of kids engaged over there. Then, I went to the dinosaur park which was fun to explore and at the same time I got to know about the pre-historic sauropsids present on our earth. It was a mesmerising experience as it had both visual and audio descriptions about each individual species of dinosaurs and other animals. As one moves from one species to another, one can actually listen to the description of that particular species instead of just going through the description boards installed infront of the statues. Though small, the place was maintained very well! So to wrap up, the regional science centre is worth visiting and would serve as a good place for adults (it's like revisiting the school science textbooks once again but in a completely different format) and the best place for young minds (for learning more and more through interesting demonstrations and working instruments). Dinosaur park is the best place for kids and naturalists to explore.

The Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar offers a fun and educational experience for all ages. Interactive exhibits across diverse scientific fields, from motion to mathematics, make learning engaging. The planetarium and science park provide additional attractions. While some exhibits might need updating, the center remains a valuable resource for sparking scientific curiosity, especially among students. The centre regularly hosts science demonstrations and workshops, making it an engaging place for students and enthusiasts. The well-maintained premises and friendly staff enhance the overall experience. It’s a great destination for families, students, and anyone curious about science.

One of the best malls in Odisha and a must-visit if you are in Bhubaneswar. Esplanade One offers a modern shopping experience with a good mix of national and international brands like Lifestyle, H&M, Max, and Pantaloons. The ambience is clean and well-maintained, with good lighting and central air-conditioning. The food court is spacious, offering a variety of options — from Domino’s and KFC to local Odia cuisine. I especially liked the seating arrangements that give enough space for families and groups. There's also a PVR cinema on the top floor — great for weekend hangouts. Plus, they often have events or seasonal decorations, which makes the mall lively. What can be improved? The parking area gets crowded during weekends and holidays. Some local brand stores are missing. A few escalators sometimes don't work — minor inconvenience. Overall, a great place for shopping, food, movies, and chilling with friends or family. If you're from Odisha or visiting, Esplanade Mall is a complete experience under one roof. 🅿️ Parking available | ♿ Wheelchair accessible | 🚻 Clean washrooms | 🍔 Huge food court | 🎥 Movie zone

Indira Gandhi Park (IG Park) is one of the prominent green spaces located in the heart of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Spread over a vast area, this park is a popular spot among locals for morning walks, jogging, and some peaceful time amidst nature. While the park holds historical and ecological significance, it has unfortunately lost much of its charm due to poor maintenance and misuse by certain groups. The park does offer some attractive elements – tall trees, patches of flower beds, walking trails, and occasional art installations. There’s also an open-air stage and several statues, including one of Indira Gandhi, which adds a bit of cultural touch to the environment. During early mornings, it’s a pleasant spot for fitness enthusiasts and senior citizens looking for a quiet stroll. However, once the day progresses, the ambience begins to shift – and not for the better. 1. Lack of Safety and Security: One of the major concerns with IG Park is the lack of security. The park is known to attract couples and loiterers who engage in inappropriate behavior in secluded spots. There are very few security personnel present, and this makes families, especially those with children or teenagers, feel uncomfortable. 2. Misuse of the Space: Over the years, IG Park has become more of a hangout zone for young couples rather than a family-friendly park. Many areas within the park are misused for intimate gatherings, making it awkward for others to use the space freely. There are frequent complaints about public display of affection, which can be uncomfortable and inappropriate for teenagers and families. 3. Poor Maintenance: Broken benches, overgrown grass, unclean restrooms, and lack of dustbins make the overall experience unpleasant. The playground equipment (if any) is minimal or in poor condition, leaving no recreational space for kids or teens. The walking paths are uneven and can be unsafe, especially during the evening when lighting is insufficient. 4. Littering and Hygiene Issues: The park often suffers from littering due to food vendors and careless visitors. Despite having such a vast green cover, the lack of cleanliness diminishes its beauty. Open alcohol consumption is also occasionally reported, especially during weekends, which further tarnishes the park’s image as a family spot. 5. Unwelcoming Atmosphere for Women and Girls: Many female visitors have expressed discomfort while walking alone or even in small groups due to constant staring or inappropriate behavior by certain groups. This discourages families with teenage girls from visiting the park.

“I visited Jaydev Vatika Square near Khandagiri with my family and we had a delightful time. The park is spacious and well-kept, with lush greenery, gentle water features and plenty of shaded pathways that make for a very soothing ambience. The picnic zones are well designed and it’s easy to spend a few hours here just relaxing or strolling. Entrance is very affordable and parking is ample. A few points to keep in mind: on weekends the area can get busy, food options are somewhat limited so it’s wise to carry snacks, and if you venture into the deeper parts you might encounter insects or even snakes so keep children in view. Overall it’s one of the better nature retreats within Bhubaneswar — great for families, couples or anyone wanting a calm break from the city bustle.” **Why it’s worth visiting:** * Great for escaping city noise and reconnecting with nature. * Beautifully landscaped with water-features and meadows – a photographer’s modest paradise. * Affordable entry and family-friendly environment. **Areas of improvement / things to know:** * Weekends and holidays see heavier crowds — for more peace, try a weekday morning. * Food and refreshment options inside are limited; bringing your own snacks helps. * Some remote-natural areas inside the park have less oversight — insects and snakes have been reported, so keep an eye on kids. **Summary:** If you’re in Bhubaneswar and want a low-stress, nature-rich outing spot, Jaydev Vatika Square is definitely worth your time. With thoughtful planning (especially regarding snacks and timing), it’s a solid choice for a refreshing experience.

The worst place of BBSR is this Park. I have visited this place today with my family. It's a Dump Yard. You can't stay in it's campus for few minutes. Everything is in broken condition. There is a big drain inside it, from where very unpleasant smell is coming. The Management is taking Rs100/- per person as entry fee. I can't understand why BDA is making fool to Public openly. I request the media persons to come and see the reality. I have been cheated today. I have done 3 tickets amounting Rs300/- then entered into the park and leave it within 5 minutes. Heaven for Kids , enjoyed a lot thought the washroom and changing area are not that clean, but not that dirty too. Food is okay, staffs are very good. One less star for no restrictions for outdoor cloth.
Romeo A — Google review
I recently visited this park with my family, but unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. After spending some time in the water park, I developed a skin infection, which was quite alarming. The water in the pool seemed very dirty and unhygienic. The water playing toys and slides also didn't seem to be cleaned properly, which raised serious hygiene concerns. The washrooms were smelly and not well-maintained. The locker room and changing room facilities were also very poor. I would suggest the management to take immediate action to improve the cleanliness and hygiene of the water park. This includes regular cleaning of the pools, toys, and washrooms, as well as maintaining the locker rooms and changing rooms in a better condition. Until these issues are addressed, I wouldn't recommend this water park to anyone. Hopefully, the management will take our feedback seriously .
