Aquarium
Located in Zurich, Switzerland, Zoo Zürich is a renowned animal conservation facility that has been welcoming visitors since 1929. The zoo boasts an impressive collection of over 370 animal species living in carefully designed habitats. From the Lewa Savana to the Masoala Rainforest and the Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park, visitors can explore diverse natural environments and observe animals living as close to their natural habitats as possible.
This was one of the best zoos I've seen in Europe. They have a wide variety of animals, including baby snow leopards. Very cool! They also had penguins. The place also had plenty of places to eat and relax, as well as many bathrooms. Definitely recommend.
Michael D — Google review
The zoo itself is nice and well maintained, but be prepared for a lot of walking — it’s quite spread out. Unfortunately, on the day we visited, many animals were not outside, probably due to the rainy weather, which is understandable. The biggest downside was the parking really not ideal. I’d definitely recommend coming early or, even better, taking public transport if you can. 🅿️ Overall, a decent experience, but best enjoyed on a dry day and with a bit of planning.
A. S — Google review
This was a really great experience! We were lucky to come on such a sunny day. They were doing some renovations which was a bit disappointing, but it was still fun. There's a couple steep metal slides for kids, an aquarium, a farmhouse, and much more!
Mia B — Google review
Really impressed by the Zurich zoo. It's a very large space with panoramic views, plenty of amenities and carefully designed enclosures for the animals that give them plenty of space to explore and hide. The rainforest dome with its tree canopy walk is a highlight, as are the snow leopards. The leopardess had three cubs in spring 2025, and watching them play was absolutely delightful. The zoo has a great balance of large animals (lions, giraffes, llamas, kangaroos,....) and small animals (fish, insects, tree frogs), all sensitively housed and explained. You could easily spend a whole day there. The setting is hilly, so it does take some stamina to walk through. It's only 15 minutes by tram from central Zurich. A great choice for a tourist on a Monday when the museums are closed.
James G — Google review
The zoo itself it's very user friendly, it has food stands on the paths, the food is very expensive though. Some of the animals look depressed, specially the elephants. Other than that, it's a beautiful experience, walking outdoors and enjoying the company of your family or your special ones
Diana L — Google review
It was a huge zoo with lots of cool stuff. Loved that the animals had sprawling enclosures. But many of the animals were nowhere to be found, with no explanation or signage. We'd walk a mile+ with the kids to see the lions or gorillas and discover they're not there that day?? It was also incredibly crowded. We went on a random Wednesday day in August and the line to buy tickets for anyone who hadn't bought online was very long.
Shell — Google review
Nice place, you can tell they take well care of the animals, it was also clean and had many WC on the way. It is a big area to cover, better go with time (3-4 hrs if with children). It has many places to buy snacks and some restaurants with playground too. Service is very friendly. You can download the App and have a realtime map. We will sure visit again.
Sabrina M — Google review
Love this zoo! Great place to visit if you happen to stop in Zurich! The animals habitats are so cute and it really looks like they take care of the place and animals! Tickets are not a bad price and the food court is great. The goat bridge was our favorite place!

History Museums
The Swiss National Museum, located near the confluence of Sihl and Nimmat rivers in Zurich, is a must-visit destination offering insights into Switzerland's cultural history. Housed in a beautiful neo-Gothic building, the museum features permanent and temporary exhibitions showcasing various aspects of Swiss history, culture, and art from the late Middle Ages to the present day. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of artifacts, paintings, photographs, and texts spanning over 10,000 years of Swiss history.
Very big museum with a lot of stuff to see! From paintings to history they have a bunch of things. My brother, who is a museum enthusiast, loved it! The tickets are very affordable and the price is worth it for this museum. It's located by the main train station of Zürich which makes it very easy to get there.
Luca — Google review
The Swiss National Museum has two main sections: the historic exhibitions and the modern cultural displays. Both are worth seeing. The museum combines multimedia elements in a way that’s engaging but not overwhelming, making the visit enjoyable. With a Zürich Card, entry is free.
Krzysztof S — Google review
Excellent experience! I enjoyed all the exhibits in the museum. I thought the Swiss Ideas section offered lots of interactive information and activities. Definitely a must visit if you’re looking to learn in depth about the history and current state of the country. They have lockers for those who are traveling which was perfect! They have great amenities such as a cafe, restaurant and modern washrooms . I got my tickets in advanced which saved time- if your in a rush it’s worth buying in advance
TravelwithShaq — Google review
What a fantastic museum that deserves a few hours, although you could easily spend most of a day here! It’s quite large, but divided into sections allowing you to pick and choose if you’re limited on time. There’s a detailed section on the history of Switzerland, but the archaeology section is a huge WOW! There are tech screens you can slide across cases to get more info on specific items. The collection is outstanding and well curated. There’s even an interactive room where the adults were having more fun than the kids! 🤣 There are also a series of preserved rooms with gorgeous woodwork from the late 1500s/early 1600s, special exhibits, a techno section, and more. It’s a very interesting place and a real compliment to the curators that most of the younger people there seemed very engaged with the exhibits. Certainly a good rainy day plan, but you will not regret taking time for this museum any day of your trip.
Martha C — Google review
Beautiful museum with interesting expositions telling the history of how Zurich became a country and how it used to manage cantons. They also have permanent expositions as well, and it is located right next to the main train station, so it is very easy to access. There is a bar inside and they provide an application for listening audios on your phone if you do not like to read, although following what the voice is talking about can sometimes be tricky. Visual illustrations are very nice, especially in the first room upon entering. There is free wi-fi inside in case you do not have internet
Nicola D — Google review
I enjoyed all the exhibits in the museum. There's a lot of interactive informations and activities. If you want to learn some history of Switzerland, you should visit this place. There's also lockers so it's friendly for travelers. That was great experience

A Kachelofen is a traditional masonry heater common in Switzerland, Austria, and southern Germany. It is a large, enclosed stove built from brick or stone and covered with ceramic tiles (Kacheln). The fire inside burns hot for a short period, heating the stove’s massive masonry core. The thick walls then radiate gentle, steady warmth for many hours without needing more fuel. Unlike metal stoves, a Kachelofen heats by radiation rather than hot air, making rooms evenly warm without drying them out. The ceramic tiles help retain and distribute heat and are often glazed and decorated. The Swiss National Museum in Zurich houses Switzerland’s most extensive collection of cultural history. Its castle-like building opened in 1898 and combines Renaissance and Gothic styles. Inside, exhibitions trace Swiss life from prehistory to the present, with artifacts ranging from archaeological finds and medieval art to period interiors that illustrate domestic life in Swiss homes.

Really close to the train station, free lockers for baggage. Interesting exhibits with a wide eclectic range. Especially enjoyed the reflections on hydropower development and the tensions from ecological and social concerns. Really eclec

The Zürich Tram Museum is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in the evolution of urban transport. Established in 1967 and housed in a former tram depot, this museum showcases an impressive array of trams dating back to 1897, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's rich transportation history. With around 20 preserved and operational tram cars on display, guests can engage with interactive exhibits that highlight how Zurich's public transport network has transformed over time.
Nice muzeum of historical trams. Definitely a must for every tram enthusiast. Large collection of a trams from different era. Nearly all teams are open and you can go inside. Bar available on site. Souvenir shop with all different books and some cool souvenires. Next to the museum is a small Migros grocery store. Travek time to the Muzeum from the Zurich Main Station is approx 20 mins by tram.
Ondřej — Google review
This is a small museum with a selection of approximately 20 trams. Additionally, there is a small mezzanine level with a toy tram layout and a good view of the whole place. This place definitely has a nice selection of the older single car trams from the 20th century. This place allows you to walk inside most of the trams, and it has a kid focus. The museum has a nice gift shop too. I was hoping for a more comprehensive collection, but it is worth the visit if you like trams. There is a tram that has a stop right outside the museum.
Greg L — Google review
it is very nice . different type of tram located here . tram tour plan display here.chidran can move some tram and enjoy and improve knowledge how to tram work.
Vimla K — Google review
The Zurich Tram Museum might be small but it's a brilliant place to visit. If you have the Zurich Card then it's free to enter. You are advised not to press levers etc when you go in but you can go in and out most trams. There's a kids tram that can be moved up and down some rails, a tram that you can put your hard hat on and go underneath. Definitely a great place to spend an hour or two.
Graeme L — Google review
A great little museum for tram enthusiasts. Trams are beautifully restored. This would be an excellent activity for families with kids as well. The young gentleman at the entrance welcomed us and was very polite and friendly. Thank you very much. We enjoyed our time at your museum.
Tilan R — Google review
Nice museum with a decent variety of displays and an upstairs section with some miniatures and dioramas. Some placards and descriptions are in English which is good for tourists. The museum is a nice, inexpensive and fascinating visit for anyone interested in trams and railway tech. You can walk through some of the trams, and ring the bells on them which is quite cool. There's some play areas and a small interactive tram for kids. At the time we were there, very few of the upstairs displays were interactive and there were not a lot of placards offering information. It's not a terribly diverse or large museum so it may not be the best stop for tourists only visiting for a day or two, unless you're really interested in Trams specifically. Staff are super nice and seem to be passionate about the museum.
Trevor ( — Google review
The Tram Museum in Zurich is a small but very charming place that showcases the city’s tram history. You can see beautifully restored trams, learn about their development, and even step inside some of them. It’s not large, but it is well-maintained and offers a fun, nostalgic experience. Especially enjoyable for families with children and anyone interested in transport

I like the museum as a historical preservation, but there weren't many things for my toddler nieces to do there. I wished there were more toys and attractions for them, specially during the week. Still a nice museum

Park
Josefwiese is a popular urban park located in the trendy district of West Zurich. It offers a range of amenities including playgrounds, fountains, restrooms, picnic areas, and table tennis facilities. The park is known for its vibrant atmosphere and is frequented by locals and tourists alike. Families with children can enjoy the large playground area, water sprinklers, and sand play area while adults can relax at the kiosk or make use of the public barbecue facilities.
Amazing park with the best ping pong area - large grassy field, perfect for a picnic on a sunny day.
Vivian — Google review
Josefwiese is a very nice park near Hardbrücke. It’s a good place to hang out in the grass with tasty restaurants nearby. There are , of course, many families and children at the playground so it’s perhaps not the best place to relax, if you intend to take a nap in the sunshine😌
Maria I — Google review
Josefwiese is one of Zürich’s best-loved green spaces — a wide, welcoming park that feels like the city’s communal garden. Just a short walk from the main station, it’s the perfect spot to unwind, picnic, or simply people-watch among locals enjoying the sunshine. The park has a wonderful community feel, with open lawns, shady trees, and plenty of space to relax or play. There’s a playground for children, a grill area where families cook together, and the lovely Josef Café, which serves coffee, drinks, and light meals right beside the grass. We spent a a while here on a peaceful afternoon, soaking up the atmosphere — kids running, cyclists passing through, and groups of friends chatting under the trees. It’s the kind of place that captures the best of Zürich life: calm, clean, social, and effortlessly beautiful. Whether you’re visiting with kids or just need a break from sightseeing, Josefwiese is the perfect place to pause and feel like a local. And it literally just minutes from Hardbruke station.
Tasha ( — Google review
Great place to come with kids, though not as pleasant as before after filling all playgrounds with sawdust. If you are coming with baby on a busy weekend, it can be long waiting time for swings as there are only 2 suitable for kids under 2 years old and they are always busy. But there is a nice sand playground (now party dirty with sawdust) and some fountains to run through for kids. A slide can be extremely hot during summer days as is is not enough shadow there. But on colder days it is a lot of fun.

Peaceful park in the center of a residential neighborhood. Near the train line, busy in nice weather, people playing ping pong, volleyball , and pétanque.
Brett D — Google review
Very nice place to relax, with large meadow and shadows provided by trees. Now it's a bit hot and the sunshine may be too strong, but staying under the shadow would just be fine. Many good cafes are also nearby. So the adults can have a drink while watching the kids playing in the ground.

Steakhouse Old Town is a rustic destination in the Old Town neighborhood of Zurich, nestled along the Limmat River. Exploring this charming locale is an enriching experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Swiss culture, history, and urban life.
Service excellent and very attentive from the moment we walked in. If you like steak you are at the right place. It’s all cooked on the stone. We had the Swiss Sirloin which was very tender Recommended
Bruce M — Google review
Like many other reviews of this place - great steak, poor service. We arrived towards the closing of this restaurant around 10:45pm but were welcomed in after the waiter checked the time. This changed quickly however when we ordered - the staff hurried us out the restaurant by packing up every single table around us, moving our items off of an adjacent table to close up, and even asking to give us our bill rather than the other way round. Did not feel like well looked-after customers when many other bars and restaurants in the same street were full of patrons at this time and not rushing them at all. The steak and quality of food was brilliant, but the service needs a lot of improvement else would not return again.
Ruby B — Google review
We visited Steak House Old Town without ordering any beef, and overall, the experience was just average. Chicken Breast: Unfortunately, this was a letdown. It was quite dry and tough to chew, lacking the tenderness you'd expect. Grilled Salmon: Decent, but nothing memorable. It was cooked fine, though not particularly flavorful. Duck: Also just okay. It didn’t stand out, but it wasn’t bad either. Sides: The sides were the highlight of the meal. The potato with sour cream was excellent—creamy and well-seasoned. The spinach was fresh and tasty, and the fried sweet potato was crispy and satisfying. Soup: We tried the coconut soup. It was rich and creamy, but the coconut flavor was overpowering, making it a bit too intense for our taste. Service was fine, and the ambiance was cozy, but based on the dishes we tried, we wouldn’t rush back. Perhaps the beef options are better, given it's a steakhouse.
Iris Y — Google review
Super good steak for a reasonable price - meat was soft and juicy. Meat was served on a hot plate, so every bite was fresh and hot! Staff was super nice and friendly, made us feel very welcomed :)
Jyi L — Google review
Best steak I've ever had! While walking along the street In Zurich to find somewhere for dinner we happened upon this restaurant where we could smell the mouthwatering steak before seeing it. A quaint little restaurant with a lovely outside seating area where you cook your steak on a hot stone.. having been on a train all day from Vienna we were ravenous so decided to go for the Tomahawk for 2 and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The most amazing juicy steak we have ever had!!! And even though the steak by itself was more than enough for 2 people.. the complimentary sides of veg and rosemary potatoes were incredible! Even though the food was sensational the service outshone it, never once did our glasses get slightly empty and the staff were incredible and so helpful with any questions asked about Zurich in general! Could not recommend this place more! Definitely worth a visit!!
Kevin D — Google review
Very average to low steakhouse quality. Tons of unpleasant rules such as not giving tap water or not selling sides without a main. Meat quality is also average for Zurich. Great position and less expensive vs other steakhouses nearby.
Giuseppe F — Google review
Meat for steak has good quality. But personally I didn’t like that I need to cut and put steak on hot desk. Knife was not sharp enough although after I asked for another one, they brought the sharp one. So I prefer to have steak done completely
Анастасия К — Google review
Good spot for a spontaneous steak dinner in the beautiful Old Town! They offer a variety of steak cuts, including their own dry aged selection, which really sets them apart from other hot stone restaurants in the city! Genuinely enjoyable to be able to cook your steak to your preferred doneness, making for an interactive and personalised experience. Value for money wise, meat quality is excellent, you definitely get what you pay for. On the other end, the experience of the service is heavily reliant on who serves you - over the years I had good and bad ones. Last time we visited, we were sitting outside and requested new stones as they got cold. However, it came off that they seemed rather annoyed to bring a new one, as if i‘d be something out of the ordinary. We then waited quite some time (20+ mins), where in the meantime you sadly can‘t enjoy your steak. When paying the bill, we tipped approx 15% and the server just said „okay thanks, bye“ without even looking us in the eyes. Very odd..

On the one day I had to visit Uetliberg, the trains were closed. There were replacement busses. It was still very convenient to get there, and then get back to the city centre when I was done. The views are breathtaking. Make it a priority to budget some time to visit Uetliberg when in Zurich.
Bryan S — Google review
We had a fantastic time here! Getting to this beautiful location is a breeze, with buses and trains stopping right there. The hiking trails are easy to navigate, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. On a clear day, you get a full panoramic vista of Lake Zürich and the majestic Alps. The whole area is wonderfully clean, which really makes the experience even better. At the summit, you can take a well-deserved break and enjoy the view. You can bring your own food or buy something from the food stand or the 'Top of Zürich' restaurant. For an unforgettable perspective, be sure to pay the small fee to climb the view tower—it's worth it! A friendly tip: remember to have some coins handy for the public restrooms!!!

If you’re in Zürich, Uetliberg is a must. Take the S10 commuter train from Zürich HB - it stops at Triemli if you want to start a longer hike, or you can ride it all the way up to Uetliberg station. From there it’s a short uphill walk; you should be reasonably surefooted, but it’s not too difficult. At the top you’re rewarded with a perfect panorama of the city, the lake (Zürisee), and on clear days even the Alps.
EzADivat — Google review
This is a must if you are visiting Zurich, it provides great views of the city. You can hike up to the summit or take public transport. As my son can't walk far we chose public transport. Normally you can get the train but it's not currently running although there was a replacement bus service. The bus dropped us about ten mins from the top and we walked the final section. At the top there's plenty to do, a food truck and a restaurant up there. You can also head up the tower for an even better view, it costs 2 swiss francs payable by card at the gate. One thing you need to do is make sure the transaction goes through before someone comes down or you could be charged without going through.

The FIFA Museum is a modern and captivating destination that showcases over 1,000 exhibits dedicated to the world of football. It offers an immersive and educational experience, delving into the rich history and global influence of the beloved sport. Visitors can explore interactive displays that highlight iconic players, historic matches, and pivotal moments that have shaped football's legacy. The museum also provides insight into the evolution of football tactics over time.
You have to wait even if u bought the zurich card beforehand. The museum is nice, there are many historical displays and interactive games for children. There are lockers which you need to put all of your belongings in but its free, they give you a special coin for it and you can keep it after unlocking. Its so nice to have a memory item like that.
Utku — Google review
As someone who doesn’t like football I wasn’t expecting to get much out of this museum but I found a lot of it pretty interesting, massively helped by how interactive it was. The museum is divided into 3 areas; 1 on the history of FIFA, 1 on the history of the World Cup and an interactive area where you can put your football prowess to the test.
Nik M — Google review
One of my favourite places during our recent trip to Zurich. On arrival you are given a locker token to put all your bags, jackets, etc in. Then it's time to enter the museum. The exhibit is great, I enjoyed looking at all the member nations jerseys, specifically looking for Scotland and Switzerland. They are all grouped by colour, a nice touch. After that it's a trip downstairs where you learn all about the world cups, play interactive games like "be a referee" and more. Then it's a trip upstairs to play some video games (ranging from the old ps1 to modern football games) and a section where you can put your skills to the test. In truth we could have spent longer here but wanted to visit other places in Zurich. There's a cafe that we never visited, and toilet facilities if needed. Since we used our 24 hour Zurich card out visit was free. I'd highly recommend.

very nice football museum.there are all about information for football worldcup dress of all countries. history of matches.who win in which year. there are 2 floor and ground floor.display is very nice.we also play football for fun.there ia a shop and restaurant.
Vimla K — Google review
The museum seemed pretty boring to me. I loved the Women's world cup section but that was about it. It's mostly about modern football. The museum's architecture is trying to make you feel like it's a big space but it's not. It ends pretty quick and you end up in an overpriced shop at the end. I much more preferred the legends museum in Madrid.
Maya — Google review
The museum is very beautiful, and it has a shop where you can buy souvenirs or even print your name on the jersey of your favorite national team. I think it’s one of the must-visit places in Zurich.

I didn’t know that I can learn a lot from this museum. It’s small but if you are a football fan, you have to go once in your life. You can see the all history of the football! For the kids around 6-10 would be also good as there are some stuff to play with including pc games.

The Lindt Home of Chocolate in Zurich is a must-visit attraction that offers an immersive experience celebrating the art of chocolate making. Visitors can marvel at a towering chocolate fountain, explore museum exhibits showcasing the production process, and even participate in hands-on workshops with expert chocolatiers. The attraction provides insight into the rich history of chocolate-making, from its early origins to modern techniques used by Lindt.
Definitely a must do! Building is beautiful, very thoughtfully designed exhibitions and plenty of chocolate tastings! Good for all ages! An hour is a good amount to spend there to visit, maybe more if you listen to everything in the audio guide. DEFINITELY get tickets in advance as it sells out! We drove and easy underground parking right on site. The store is awesome with ALL the chocolate! The cafe inside is great too, with sandwiches, savory things and plenty of desserts and delicious drinks!
Andressa H — Google review
I recently visited the Lindt Home of Chocolate and will give it three stars. We arrived in the late afternoon and were surprised by how crowded it was. I understand it is a popular attraction, but I did not expect such a sea of people everywhere. Tickets for the museum were already sold out, which we accepted, and the receptionist advised us to visit the shop instead. However, the shop itself felt extremely overcrowded. The queues were very long, and the atmosphere was quite chaotic. Many visitors were crowding around the chocolate displays, taking a lot of photos and handling products, which made it difficult to move around or shop comfortably. At the large chocolate installation in the entrance area, people kept walking into the space while I was still taking a photo, so even small moments like that felt rushed and stressful. The building is beautiful, and the selection of chocolate is impressive, but the overall experience did not match the calm, slightly “exclusive” atmosphere I imagined. It felt more like a busy tourist attraction than a relaxing chocolate experience. I personally would not go back, but I understand that other people might enjoy the lively energy and do not mind big crowds. If you decide to visit, I would strongly recommend booking tickets in advance and going as early in the day as possible to avoid the worst of the crowds. Go at your own risk if you dislike very busy places.
Camille Y — Google review
A must-visit for all chocolate lovers! Easily reachable from Zurich HB by public transport. The building has a unique charm, and the giant chocolate fountain in the lobby is stunning. The museum gives a great overview of how chocolate is made, and the tasting experience is delicious. Don’t miss the hot chocolate and desserts at the café. The shop offers an amazing variety of Lindt chocolates — definitely worth buying here rather than other outlets in Switzerland!
Amit S — Google review
The Lindt Chocolate Tour was great fun definitely worth a visit if you're a chocolate lover! It was really busy, so I'd recommend getting your ticket in advance online to avoid the queues. The exhibits are pretty well put together, with plenty of interesting facts about chocolate-making and, of course, loads of chocolate to sample along the way. A bit crowded at times, but still a sweet experience.
Adam M — Google review
Absolute food heaven for people with a sweet tooth . The audio guide takes you through the entire journey from a cocoa seed to the final chocolate product. The excitement of receiving free chocolates at the end makes everyone feel like a child. There’s an amazing opportunity to get a free chocolate delivered by a well displayed interactive image towards the end of you scan your ticket. Interesting place for kids and adults alike. The cafe is free for all to enjoy and so is the shop where deciding which flavour of chocolate to buy is a major challenge. Highly recommend this attraction
Nirveen — Google review
Highly recommend seeing this place because you would eat more chocolate than what you paid for the ticket! Make sure to book the ticket in advance as they get sold out very quickly. There is a shop 5min walk from the museum (that has another shop inside it) which has some better deals!! Suggest going to the museum and try different chocolates before buying any at the store.
Nasim N — Google review
Great experience to do when in Zurich. The store here is very impressive with lots of variety. Don't expect free tasting samples here but they will engrave a special message of chocolate for you at no extra charge. If you want to do the museum experience get here earlier as they were booked out by 5:30pm for the rest of the day which is understandable. As for the cafe the soft serve ice cream was a winner for me!
George — Google review
Visited the Lindt Home of Chocolate and honestly, it’s a must-do if you’re in Zurich 🍫. The tour itself is really well done—you get to see how chocolate is made from the cocoa bean, learn about Lindt’s work in supporting cocoa-growing communities, and of course, enjoy plenty of free samples along the way (photos attached!). There are fun interactive sections too, and I even joined the chocolate bar–making class, which was the highlight of the visit. I actually went on my birthday, and honestly, couldn’t have picked a sweeter way to celebrate! 🎂 Ratings:

Felsenegg is a popular mountain summit offering breathtaking views of Zurich, Lake Zurich, and the Alps. Visitors can reach it from the village of Adliswil by a short drive or a scenic cable car trip. At the top, there's a restaurant with panoramic views where guests can savor Mediterranean and Asian-influenced cuisine prepared by Chef Thomas Gassner. The area also offers hiking trails and picnic spots for outdoor enthusiasts.
We grabbed the Cable car up the mountain, and stopped up top at the Cafe for some drinks and a bite to eat. So glad we did as not only was it fairly reasonably priced (considering you're at the peak of the mountain overlooking Switzerland) but the views are phenomenal. There is a park at the top for kids to burn off energy, and plenty of places to stop and take in the surroundings. Highly recommend checking this natural beauty out. We had a toddler and a pram so we didn't hike back down, maybe next time 😅

After riding cable car to this hilltop, I was so glad to have stopped here for a drink before my hike. It was an overcast day but the scenery was still breathtaking in its own way. To be fair, I had only a glass of rosé so not sure about their food quality. But based on service and atmosphere, it deserved my 5 stars without a doubt. Couldn't wait to go back.

WOW Museum - Room for Illusions is a vibrant and family-friendly museum located in downtown Zurich, just steps away from the city's main railway station and exclusive Bahnhofstrasse shopping area. Opened in June 2020, this museum offers 12 interactive rooms spread across three floors, providing over 400 square meters of space to explore. Visitors can enjoy colorful rooms for taking wacky selfies and experience trick-of-the-eye versions of famous artworks.
The WOW Museum in Zürich more than lives up to its name — it’s a bright, imaginative, and totally immersive experience that keeps everyone smiling. Right in the city centre near Bahnhofstrasse, it’s an easy and exciting stop for families, couples, or anyone who loves interactive art and optical illusions. We wandered through glowing rooms, mirror mazes, and mind-bending exhibits that make you question what’s real. Staff were friendly and encouraged everyone to take their time and play — which makes it as enjoyable for adults as it is for kids. They took time to explain to us how to use the QR code system: scan the codes to recieve an explanation of the illusion, but also scan codes to initiate the camera in the museum to take photos for you which you can download within seconds from your phone! This is a very amazing an unique feature that I haven't seen in any other illusion attractions. It’s fun, clever, and surprisingly beautiful — a perfect rainy-day activity or break from sightseeing. You’ll leave with a phone full of photos and a head full of wonder.

We went here to kill some time while waiting for the international train, and I was a really fun museum! Lots of fun illusions, nice rooms and pictures-possibilities! We had to wait a bit more than an hour to enter, since it was fully booked, so buy tickets in advance to skip the wait!

The staff is very very nice, speaks good English and is very helpful. I saw lots of kids and they all seemed to have fun in here. A true ‘instagram pictures’ place. However, I do believe 23 franks it’s too much, considering the museum is not that big.

Genius place for kids and adults alike. Must book tickets in advance, but DO go, it is just so good! Endless stations playing with your senses, you are thrilled over and over again. Take the time to log onto their WiFi and follow the instructions, check out each QR code, which will explain the station and give tips to enjoy it best.
Alda D — Google review
The museum is interesting and visually engaging, with a nice variety of illusions and interactive exhibits. However, many of the installations require at least three people to fully experience or to take proper photos, which makes it less enjoyable if you're visiting solo or as a couple. Some illusions are quite striking, but without someone to help position you or take photos, a big part of the experience is lost. It would be great if there were more staff available to assist or if they had automated photo stations. Overall, it was a fun visit, but not unforgettable. Best enjoyed in a group.
Alessandro ( — Google review
What a delightful and interesting place to take the children or a cute daytime date. They've done a great job with technology to help guests interact and learn about what they're seeing, touching, and feeling! I went on a Sunday, and many time slots were sold out, so make reservations ahead of time. There are free lockers available for your belongings so you can be hands free- but take your cellphone so you can receive your pictures! There's plenty of restaurants and shops around to enjoy before or after your visit.

Since the Zurich card offered discount on some museums and particularly 50 percent off for this one we decided to visit it. The museum is quite informative but more suitable for children. It has a lot of fun activities to do which might be interesting for adults as well to try but since we had a very short stay in Zurich and wanted to visit one of its many interesting museums, I felt this museum wasn't really worth it. This is an amazing earth science museum with rock exhibit and a super cool earthquake simulator! If you come at the right time, you get to experience three very different levels of earthquakes, from real ones that actually happened to the man-made ones. I don’t even have to say that the kids loved this part! The people involved are all very nice and more than happy to share their knowledge. We really had a lovely day. The Kunsthaus Zürich is a renowned art museum in Europe, managed by the Zurich Society of Arts and with roots tracing back to 1787. It boasts extensive collections from various artists, including a significant number of Charles Munch's paintings and the most important assortment of Monet's works outside Paris. The museum focuses on showcasing high-quality works by artists across different periods, with particular strength in Impressionist, post-Impressionist, and modern art.
We visited during Zurich Art Weekend and it was fantastic! So many great 🖼️ and also few interactive displays. Its great that they label the art - stolen / not stolen. We easily spent there 3 hours! Its worth getting ticket to all exhibitions when you have time. You will enjoy all the Picasso’s and other great paintings.

An incredible museum, with access to two two-floor buildings filled with masterpieces. We explored the main museum first and got to see so many wonderful paintings from artists like Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Picasso and so many others, but I saw that they had the second largest Munch collection and when I asked they told me it's in the second building. Went through the underground tunnel and there he was on the second floor. I was left speechless and spent hours and hours going through all the wonderful rooms. Would definitely visit again!

Cultural jewel in the heart of Zurich - Kunsthaus truly impressed. We didn't expect to discover such a remarkable collection of great masters - Rembrandt, Dutch classics, Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Chagall, Modigliani... an entire constellation of art legends. One of the highlights was a striking passage hall showcasing works by the famous Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler. The museum also includes a piece by Alberto Giacometti, the globally recognized Swiss sculptor known for his distinctive style. The spaces are bright and spacious, making it easy to linger and absorb the atmosphere. Lockers are available for storing personal items - a thoughtful convenience. And the museum shop? A delight, as always. I'm drawn to art museum stores, and this one felt like a mini treasure hunt - full of creative finds and unique keepsakes. Conclusion: Zurich shines with artistic brilliance - a true cultural powerhouse

The Kunsthaus Zurich boasts a vast collection, divided into two sections: the Old and the Old. Some of the works are truly magnificent, and even someone like me, who doesn't know much about art, finds them truly stunning. I wouldn't be able to fully explain them, though. Whether you're an art enthusiast or a tourist, this is a place worth visiting.
Joseph B — Google review
Nothing short of outstanding in every aspect. I new I was going to see artwork old and not so old of many big-name artists, but the excellent way the collections were arranged and information provided on the artists etc. together with practical aspects (the two very spacious beautiful buildings across the street are connected with a pleasant subterranean walkway, there are cloakrooms with plenty of lockers, many toilets, two cafeterias, an amazing souvenir shop, and very helpful staff everywhere), all that made for a beautiful day at Kunsthaus Zürich. I thought kids would not be bored and surely love for instance an amazing LED lights and sound show, or an all-around video projection.

Really love the beer garden summer vibe. It was our last day in Switzerland in the middle half of August and just felt like a great closure. Weather was also really nice at the time. Food is standard prices for this country but it's good, if you like hamburgers and grilled BBQ. Don't expect American or east Asian bbq level of good but it's better than most of the food here, to me. And again the atmosphere is really what made it for me.

Zurich lake is beautiful place to visit. The best times are weekends and sunny day. You see a lot of people coming for picnic and party. Really a fun place.
Jasdeep S — Google review
It is a nice place to see stunning views and have a quiet moment by the lake. There was a sandy area which was clean. The water was crystal clear and easily accessible for swimming. Plus, a large green area for picnics and sunbathing. There was, also, a diving platform that had three different heights. Early on a weekday in the spring, it was empty of people, but I can see it being very busy during the summer. There were toilets facilities nearby, though I did not use them, so I can not comment on them. It is an open park, so the area is accessible to people who use a wheelchair. There are a choice of hard surface paths or grass.

Most excellent place! All the areas to swim and sunbathe, paddle board rentals, amazing cafeteria, lots of space to spread out and friendly crowd. What a treat! We spent all day here on our visit to Zurich.

It’s nice and spacious, a lot of big trees to find shade under and it’s easy to get into the water. Two 2️⃣ penalty points: 1) the food. Hiltl is just not Badi-food. I mean Soy Fake Chicken Nuggets? And the buffet style leads to soggy fries. 2) the Beach is more gravel stones and dust than it is sand :( But the children’s area is the best I have seen here in Zurich.

I love the autumn colours of this place. My daughter had a great time playing with the sand and the water. There is a dock where people swim and sun bathe, and a modest playground nearby.

Clean, lovely, and beautiful views of Lake Zürich. Good amenities as well: diving boards, swimming platforms, paddle board rentals, and inflatables for the kids. Visiting from the USA and happened to walk by, and decided to take a chance and check it out. For only 8 CHF, this was a steal for a relaxing afternoon on the lake with the locals. Lots of gnats in the grass, be warned.

Specialty Museums
Museum Mühlerama is housed in a historic brick mill building that was once a large mill operated by Wehrli & Koller. The museum offers guided tours through the old mill, showcasing its vertical group drive mechanics and the process of milling flour with different stone or mechanical mills. Visitors can also participate in baking and bread-making classes, as well as explore food culture exhibitions.
Unexpectedly wonderful afternoon spent at the bread museum! Started with a self guided tour with a hand broom audioguide (unique!), slid down a wooden spiral slide on a mill sack. Then milled our own flour, made bread dough from scratch, had an educational tour about the mill, and we left with our warm handmade bread! We had a Zurich card and this was all covered with it, highly recommend spending a few hours exploring the museum.
Sarah P — Google review
Lucky find and a fun place. Although it's advertised as a great place for families and children, those of us young at heart can enjoy it too. You get to make your own flour and then turn that into bread, which you take home.
Farida K — Google review
Lovely place. The tour was short but very informative. The guide spoke both German and English and explained in detail how the mill worked. A lovely touch was grinding our own flour and making bread. It took 20 minutes to cook and then we had freshly cooked bread to take home. Staff were very friendly. Would recommend.
Hazel C — Google review
Highly recommended! Hands on museum where you can experience milling flour with a number of different equipment and style. Also optional if you'd like to keep the flour you milled or use it to bake your own bread! While waiting for the bread to prove, you can have an audio guided tour of the Mill. Finishing your tour, your bread is hot and waiting to be tasted. Highly recommended - great to bring your kids here to let them roll up their sleeves.
Belle B — Google review
Wonder why you'd ever visit a Mill museum? Well, because it's fun. In Mühlerama you get to see how people used to make flour, the old fashioned way, from a rock to a spinning rock to a more modern contraption, then you get to mix and make your own little bread with freshly ground flour and while it's baking, you get to look around and go down the big slide in a flour sack! As you leave the museum, you have a warm and crunchy bread in your hand, you eat while you think to yourself, hmmmm, this was fun! That's why you go to a Mill museum! Oh and I forgot one thing. The people working there are first class, super duper nice, helpful and very kind!
A. ( — Google review
Awesome museum for everybody. Start with a guided tour through the mill, usually around 3pm. Mill your own flour with different stone or mechanical mills and bake your own bread stick or pretzel. Wander through the museum mill with 2 out of 20 rolling mills left, while listening to the brush- your audioguide. Slide down the slide for the flour bags or solve the mystery hunt hidden in secret places. Right next door is a cute Caffè. Mill is unfortunately not wheelchair and stroller friendly.

//GOOD: — friendly counter staff — large museum (good value for the cost); multilevel layout (fun to explore) — this “food and grain” museum is also a functioning mill/factory with some operations in full display — children will enjoy some hands-on experiences all topped off with an amazing ride down a four-floor spiral slide //KNOW: — entrance is off the main street and in the rear of the building (courtyard)

Really cool place for kids to hang out. With the skate park across the road, I think it is fantastic! But... the track has seen better days, it could use a bit of maintenance. Only few spaces for parents to sit, dirty information screens covered in graffiti and no place to buy something to drink (except going to Sihlcity, and nowhere on Sunday) only give it for me 3 stars (leaning to 2).

Restaurant
Zeughauskeller is a must-visit restaurant in Zurich, housed in a 15th-century building with oak beams and historic artifacts. It offers rustic Swiss dishes and draft beers, making it a popular spot for locals and professionals. The menu features traditional Swiss German fare like sausages, sauerkraut, and the famous rosti.
One of two, the best places I've eaten. The old build was absolutely amazing shape for the age, it was incredible. The food was great. Also had great service which is something considering its Switzerland, which is not known for being overly friendly. I was told by a friend who had been there in the 70's and to try the pork knuckle- why change something that's almost perfect I guess.
Brandon D — Google review
This was such a great place to eat. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and the inside of the restaurant is interesting. I do recommend a reservation as we had to wait in line to be seated, and we were seated at a table split with another party of two (which was fine for us, but isn’t for everyone). I did also overhear from another group that bigger parties cannot always be seated without a reservation during their peak dinner time, roughly 6-8pm.
Paige B — Google review
I visited this restaurant three times during my stay, both for lunch and dinner and everything I tried was fantastic! - Pumpkin Soup: One of the best I’ve ever had , light, interesting, and full of flavor. - Chicken Schnitzel with Mushroom Sauce: Perfectly thin and crispy on the outside, juicy inside. The sauce was creamy with a hint of lemon, absolutely delicious! - Rösti: Good but a bit dry for my liking. - Macaroni from their vegetarian options: Made with cheese, potatoes, and caramelized onions. light, comforting, and so good! The atmosphere is super charming, full of character and history. If you’re in a small group, you’ll likely share a table with others, which actually makes it more fun! We ended up having great conversations with our table neighbors :) Can’t wait to come back!
Maral C — Google review
Interesting place. It’s an old military arsenal which was converted to a restaurant in 1926. Food was slightly above average but the atmosphere kind of felt like a Disney dining hall. Small parties are required to share tables with others. Weiner Schnitzel and Rösti (hash brown)were average. The pumpkin soup special was above average.

Very busy place. If one don’t have a reservation, be expected to be sharing a table. Atmosphere is great, loud and lively. There is a meal for 2, which includes sausage on a sword. Looks amazing but portion looks big :)

Great fun, good food, wonderful experience - a must visit when in Zurich, alhough I wish we have the chance to come here for more than just one time 🤓 so many dishes to try! We had their veal in white wine sauce with rosti as the side, and fried crumbed-chicken fillet with fries. Polished it off between the three of us. Tiramisu was a great finish - unbelievably good (even comparable to those we had in Rome, but don’t tell them 🤓), whipped cream was so fresh, biscotti so yummy.

If you’re visiting Zurich, or even just living here and trying to remember a good place to eat out, COME HERE!! This is an absolute must. I am so happy I followed the advice I got to come here. I had an absolutely amazing meal here. Everything was delicious. I got a phenomenal risotto with asparagus (which is in season right now), the Korean cauliflower fried rice, and the coupe Denmark for dessert (basically an ice cream sundae with graham cracker crumbles). When I say I can’t stop dreaming about this meal, I mean it. I might even go back here while on this visit just to round out the trip it was so good. Everything was fresh and filling. The atmosphere is adorable. The staff are super kind.
Hannah L — Google review
I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant! Let’s start with a single con : the price is pretty darn high; for being a tourist I can imagine it’s tough for most since most countries don’t have a high wage such as Switzerland. We went here on a date visiting Zürich for the first time and wow it was mouth watering and delicious! Personally I’m not a vegetarian but my girlfriend is and I always support her and we have vegetarian days, this meal was full of incredible flavors and actually made me feel pretty decently well. I could have easily eaten a second full plate though for 40 dollars per person per plate(without drinks) I think I’ll leave it as a delicacy. They weight it and I do love this system since it ensures the buffet is being used properly and no food is being wasted. The staff is INCREDIBLE! The cook came out a few times to fill the buffet and he was full of charisma. My girlfriend was super happy to have him compliment her. Our cashier / server was a Filipino man and he was very polite, professional and with a big smile! For the experience it was worth it, it was romantic and delightful

Iconic vegetarian restaurant in the city. Splitted between a buffet self-service on the first floor and and normal restaurant on the second floor. Barefoot C — Google review
Every time I’m in Zurich, I have to come back here. Oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world? Yeah, and it still slaps. Been here more times than I can count, and it never disappoints. Downstairs, it’s a buffet setup, you grab a plate, load up like it’s your last meal, and pay by the weight. Pro tip: things add up quick when you’re hungry and everything looks good. You’ve been warned. If you head upstairs, you get the full sit-down experience. You can still hit the buffet downstairs just weigh your plate, get a ticket, and hand it off to your server like a classy food courier. Easy. The food? Absolutely amazing. Tons of variety, packed with flavor, and actually satisfying. Like, not just “good for vegetarian food” just good, period. Drinks are fresh too, especially the juices. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, this is the spot in Zurich. And even if you’re not, you’ll still walk out happy. It’s that good.

The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, perfect for a refined coffee break or gift shopping. Prices are premium, but the craftsmanship and flavors are well worth it. A hit and miss experience with Luxemburgerli here! I loved the pistachio, where this was very much present, chocolate, and Vanilla (the Vanilla beans throughout the filling added glorious flavour!). The texture of all the macarons were perfect, a light crisp and chewy centre. The fillings were pleasantly creamy. However, the hazelnut and strawberry cheesecake macarons lacked any flavour! This is disappointing considering how expensive they are! The service was nice and I was given storage advice (it was a very hot day!)

Historical landmark
Grossmünster, also known as the "Great Minster," is an iconic twin-towered Romanesque cathedral located in Zurich, Switzerland. It was built on the site of a Roman burial ground and has been a prominent landmark since its opening in 1220. The cathedral's tall twin towers are considered one of Zurich's most recognizable features and have stood for centuries.
Grossmünster is a symbol of Zürich and a must-visit for its twin towers and historical significance in the Swiss Reformation. The interior is simple but powerful, and if you climb the tower, you’re rewarded with one of the best panoramic views of the city. A place where history, faith, and architecture meet.

This church is a sandstone of the town Zürich Switzerland look at it in a incredibly safe part of the city. The church is tremendous specially going upstairs. It will take about 10 to 15 minutes with a small fee. You’ll see the most stunning view of the city. We loved praying here and spending time sitting down and relaxing. It’s very peaceful, full of tranquility and very quiet. People are respectful to the history and culture.
Edis — Google review
The Grossmünster is an iconic symbol of Zurich, instantly recognizable by its twin towers. It's not just an architectural marvel but also the cradle of the Swiss-German Reformation led by Huldrych Zwingli in the 16th century, which adds profound historical significance. While the interior is notably simple and austere, reflecting Protestant values, it features stunning stained-glass windows by Augusto Giacometti that bathe the nave in a beautiful, colorful light. The bronze doors depicting biblical and historical stories are also remarkable. However, the absolute highlight for most visitors is the climb to the viewing platform in one of the towers. After ascending 187 narrow spiral steps, you are rewarded with the best panoramic view in Zurich. You can see the Limmat River, the picturesque Old Town, Fraumünster Church, and on a clear day, the distant Alps. The climb is challenging but absolutely worth the effort. Verdict: A must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking an unparalleled perspective of the city. The view from the top alone justifies the visit.

Lovely lovely church in the heart of Zürich. If you have a Zürich pass you can visit this place for free. The painted glasses adorn the places so wonderfully. It’s a serene place to sit and ease out. My top recommendations for this place is the staircase to the top, the view from the top is just breathtaking, and it is not that long of a climb. I would definitely visit this place again and take the climb in a different season just to get another breathtaking view !

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Grossmünster Zürich – The Beating Heart of Swiss History If Zurich had a voice, it would echo through the twin towers of Grossmünster. Standing proudly along the banks of the Limmat River, this Romanesque cathedral is not just a masterpiece of architecture – it’s a living monument, a stone witness to centuries of faith, revolution, and resilience. According to legend, it was Charlemagne himself who discovered the graves of Saints Felix and Regula on this very spot, and ordered a church to be built. Thus began the story of Grossmünster in the 12th century – not merely a place of worship, but a foundation of identity. This sacred place went on to become the birthplace of the Swiss Reformation, led by the bold and visionary Huldrych Zwingli. From these very pews and pulpits, history shifted. The church’s iconic twin towers dominate Zurich’s skyline and invite you to climb them – over 180 steps – for a view that will take your breath away. From the top, Zurich stretches before you like a living postcard: medieval rooftops, the glittering Limmat, and the distant Alps rising like a silent promise on the horizon. Inside, Grossmünster is stripped of luxury, yet full of power. Its austere design speaks to a deeper beauty – one of silence, strength, and purpose. The modern stained-glass windows by Sigmar Polke bring color and contemplation to the timeless stone, creating a dance of light that connects the past and present in a striking way. Grossmünster is not just a church – it is a sanctuary of spirit and history. Whether you come as a believer, a tourist, or a seeker of meaning, this place will leave a mark on your soul. You don’t just visit Grossmünster – you feel it. 📸 Bring your camera, but most importantly, bring your attention. Grossmünster speaks – if you’re ready to listen. ⸻ Powerful SEO keywords: Grossmünster Zürich, things to see in Zurich, Zurich cathedral, Swiss Reformation site, historic churches in Switzerland, Charlemagne Zurich legend, Zwingli Grossmünster, panoramic view Zurich, climb Grossmünster towers, religious heritage Switzerland, old town Zurich must-see.
REPUTATIO S — Google review

The ground floor is free, and you’ll need to pay CHF 5 to go up to the top — worth it if you’d like to explore further. 🪟 Interior & Atmosphere The stained glass windows are stunning, and the building’s structure is beautiful. The view outside from the ground floor is also lovely and peaceful. Fraumünster Church, located in the Old Town of Zurich, is a historic and elegant church with a distinctive copper-topped spire. It was founded in 853 by King Louis the German and was once inhabited by female members of European aristocracy. The church is renowned for its stunning stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall, which create a kaleidoscope of colors inside the church.
The church along the lake is very beautiful and a pleasant place. I visited this place during my layover in Zurich and it was early morning so I was not able to enter it. The surroundings have few cafes and beautiful architecture of the residential properties.

A nice cathederal that is worth a pop-in if you are nearby. It has beautiful stained glass windows and is peaceful. There is a crypt area that displays artifacts. You require a ticket to enter. It was cheap to purchase. You get an audio guide or a leaflet that comes in a variety of languages. Children and students fetch free entry. There was a small gift shop which sold some nice bits. All areas are wheelchair accessible apart from the crypt and choir area. There is a disability toilet near the main entrance. There is a hearing loop system, and guide dogs are welcome. It is free to enter for services. You are asked to refrain from taking photographs during service.
Shelley C — Google review
Definitely best to check the opening times before your visit, we turned up before midday and it was closed. Admittedly for a good reason as someone was getting married there. We went for a coffee and came back once open. The church is visible from multiple parts of the city. When we went in we were able to use our Zurich card to get in for free. A beautiful church, you are provided a map upon entry and can take a tour including the crypt.

The Fraumünster is a former abbey church founded in the 9th century by Louis the German for his daughter Hildegard as a convent for aristocratic women. The abbey held great influence during the Middle Ages—its abbess had the right to appoint the mayor of Zürich until the 14th century. Architecturally, it combines Romanesque and Gothic elements, with a slender blue-green spire that dominates the city skyline. The stained-glass windows by Augusto Giacometti (1945) and Marc Chagall (1970) depict biblical scenes in vivid color.
Kent W — Google review
The Fraumünster has a more slender, graceful presence compared to the sheer bulk of the Grossmünster across the river. While its elegant spire is a key part of the city skyline, the real treasure of the Fraumünster isn't visible from the outside. Its main claim to fame is the stunning set of five stained-glass windows created by Marc Chagall in his 80s, plus another by Augusto Giacometti. Knowing that, you look at the church's stone exterior in a new light. It becomes a beautiful, historic vessel for a breathtaking collection of modern art. The building itself feels quieter and more reserved than its neighbors. It doesn't have the largest clock or imposing twin towers; its identity is more subtle and is found within its walls. The atmosphere around it in the Münsterhof square feels fittingly a bit more subdued and gallery-like. It’s a place that makes you curious about what’s inside, inviting you to step in and see the vibrant colors that are hidden from the sunlit plaza. It’s a great reminder that sometimes the most impressive feature of a place is one you can't see from the street.

Fraumünster Church – A Serene Riverside Gem with Stunning Chagall Windows Fraumünster Church is a peaceful and spiritually uplifting destination nestled in the heart of Zurich, just a stone’s throw from the river. This historic church, with its elegant Gothic architecture and tranquil surroundings, offers the perfect setting for a half-day outing filled with quiet reflection and cultural appreciation. What truly sets Fraumünster apart are the breathtaking stained glass windows designed by the legendary artist Marc Chagall. These vibrant, ethereal fensters bathe the interior in a kaleidoscope of colors and narrate biblical stories with poetic brilliance. Each window is a masterpiece, blending art and spirituality in a way that leaves a lasting impression. Located near the banks of the Limmat River, the church is easily accessible and surrounded by picturesque streets and quaint cafés, making it a wonderful stop for those exploring Zurich’s old town. Whether you are drawn by faith, art, or simply the need for a serene escape, Fraumünster Church is a must-visit.

Beautiful architecture. Parish won't let me in for a prayer. Don't know why, just said that it's not opened to the public.

It's a nice church to visit in Zurich. Really beautiful worth the visit. The Fraumünster (German pronunciation: [fʁaʊ̯ˈmʏnstɐ]; lit. in English: Women's Minster) is a church in Zürich which was built on the remains of a former abbey for aristocratic women which was founded in 853 by Louis the German for his daughter Hildegard. He endowed the Benedictine convent with the lands of Zürich, Uri, and the Albis forest, and granted the convent immunity, placing it under his direct authority.

Rheinfelder Bierhalle is a no-frills brasserie with burgers, schnitzel, French fries and beer as its main menu items. It has an ample patio for seating and is frequented by students to civil servants alike. The beer hall has traditional brewery values of being loud and lively.
Love the vibe! Very lively! We ordered Jumbo Jumbo Cordon Blue, which tasted really good! Love the cheese and ham inside the pork. We just grabbed a seat at the long wooden table. The server came to take our order. Everything was easy. The environment was rather warm. (not a bad thing!) We saw both locals and tourists in the restaurant. The overall experience was great!
JAM W — Google review
I was looking for a classic Swiss / German beer hall experience on Zurich and I found it here. Extensive beer list - I liked my Pilsner - and good food. Great location in an alley just off the north western tip of old town, close to other bars and restaurants. Outdoor seating looked great but it was raining so sat indoors. Had the schnitzel with a side of Rosti with cheese - both delicious. My family also had a sausage dish and a salad. Highly recommend for an authentic meal.
Matt K — Google review
We had schnitzel Zurich-style, but it was not served in its original schnitzel form. The sausage was okay, though the sauce had an unusual taste. I don’t think I would return, as you might be more satisfied trying it elsewhere. However, the service was quick.
Oguz B — Google review
It's okay. Everything is tol greasy, but that's the style of Bierhalle Swiss food I guess. The steak is good but very small. The Jumbo Jumbo Cordon bleu is not bad. It's not that big. Too much sauce in the salad. Place itself is not great.
Elsa — Google review
The schnitzel is awesome. So, so good. Skip the fries with the dish and go with something else - their fries are not good. Great service, fun sitting outside. They didn’t care I was solo at dinner time and gave me a table they could have seated for 4. This also came recommended by a local server earlier in the day for their schnitzel.

I had a great experience at Rheinfelder Bierhalle! The chicken breast grill was incredibly delicious, tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Pairing it with the Appenzeller beer was a perfect choice; it is easily one of the best beers I have ever had, with a smooth and refreshing taste that complemented the meal perfectly. The atmosphere was lively yet welcoming, making it a fantastic place to enjoy a hearty Swiss meal. Highly recommend!
Rody — Google review
Ordered 2 of their signature dishes. Traditional Swiss delicacies and taste. Often visited by local Swiss to enjoy their lunch and dinner. Not to miss their draft beer on tap.. Location wise it's convenient short walk from Central tram station
Jackie C — Google review
Ordered the Jumbo Jumbo Cordon Bleu. The only thing special about it was the size and the cheese that oozed out from it as you ate it. Flavour was ok, good but not special and definitely not worth the price tag. Service was awful as it took really long, reservations weren't accepted and the place was so packed, you'd feel like sardines. Also expect to share tables with multiple parties. Terribly regretted going to this place and paying such a high price for substandard food quality and awful service.

Takeout Restaurant
Raclette Factory is a cozy and inviting spot in Zurich that offers a variety of Swiss cheese classics and international raclettes. The venue provides variants of regional cheeses like blue Blaue Schalk, truffled cheese, and goat's cheese. Additionally, they serve smoky tarte flambees topped with cre fraiche and bacon. The restaurant captures the essence of traditional Swiss dining with its rustic ambiance.
I had a very relaxing, outdoor lunch here. It was nice to watch the people walk by as I sipped my beer. The service was very kind and very fast. I had three different friendly employees check on me while I was there. Compared to prices at other restaurants, they were one of the most affordable options. The food was delicious too. I had the Klara which was 1/2 fondue over potatoes and half fondue over bread. I enjoyed both but the Heidi (cheese over potatoes) was better than the Peter. The cocktail onions are strangely good with the cheese! So much so, that next time, I’ll ask for more onions. The cheese comes melted over the bread and potatoes, as opposed to having a huge dish of fondue that you have to dip an entire loaf of bread in. I felt like this was much less wasteful for a solo traveler or a couple wanting to share something not too heavy. The cheese does cool quickly though, so it won’t be ooey gooey for very long.
Lesley L — Google review
Excellent choice for our first meal in Switzerland. The server was so friendly and kind to explain the menu. The Peter and Parma were absolutely delicious. The restaurant smelled amazing. I think I would try the potatoes if we are back again during our short trip.

What an amazing place for a late dinner in Zurich! Absolutely delicious raclette with a cozy and homey vibe and good service. Food came out very quickly when I was there and the prices are very good for Zurich. I could see it being busy during peak hours but I was able to get a table with no wait on a weekday.
Reed B — Google review
We had a great dinner here! Fair prices, great food, and great service. The seating is a bit tight and claustrophobic, but probably not an issue for most people.
Dawn E — Google review
Overall good. If you want to eat same raclette, but with no queue - this is the place. We’ve ordered tasting set and truffles set, both were good, came with boiled potato and pickles.
Galina M — Google review
Nice unique swiss experience. Raclette is famous to Switzerland, and I figured this would be a good spot for it. They've got a few different options/flavors. I ended up opting to make my own. I did garlic and truffle cheese. Both were delicious. I also added bacon, which was a great choice. The service was very good. Only thing is that it feels quite pricey for what it is... potatoes and cheese... other than that, great experience!
Constantine J — Google review
I don't know what to say about this place. We were bigger group and needed a bigger table and we didn't have reservation. When asked about a table, staff was annoyed by us a bit. They managed to seat us in the end and took our orders. By the time food was ready one beer was spilled and plates were mixed around by staff in the way that I didn't end up eating what I ordered. I do understand that confusion happens and that there was a lot of orders around but that should be better organized. The place is not that big, but they do not seem to handle it good at that point in time. Also, the food was good and raclette was tasty and just the right texture. I wish that our experience was better regarding staff part.
Anamarija Č — Google review
It was my last dinner with my mom and daddy after long travel in Switzerland. Since we are not familiar with cheese food, I was a little bit worried. But after biting a piece of raclette, it tuned out.. Best choice! This restaurant has Warm servers, delicious foods & drinks with reasonable price all together.!

Museum Rietberg is a captivating destination that showcases an impressive array of non-European art within its stunning 19th-century villa, which draws inspiration from the Villa Albani in Rome. This architectural gem, constructed in 1857 for a German industrialist, served as a cultural hub for Zurich's intellectual elite.
A museum full of interesting artifacts from around the world. It is spread out over a number of buildings. It is surrounded by parkland, and you get some wonderful views over Zurich. You require a ticket to enter. You can get free entry if you have a Zurich Card, though you need to remember to show it as they do not ask. Children and adolescents also get free entry. The sign posting for the buildings is a bit rubbish. Access to the Smaragd section is at the back of the ticket area. You use the lift to travel down. This section has some wonderful exhibits. Partway through the room, there was a chair with a book, in English, about the exhibits. There is a souvenir shop, though it is very expensive. Leaving this building, you cross straight over to the villa opposite. This contains the cafe and further exhibits upstairs. The cafe had a good range of food, which was delicious, though a bit pricey. There were toilets in both buildings. These were clean. There were disabled toilets. There are exhibits in other buildings, but you need to walk through the park to access these. There is disabled parking next to 'The Coach House'. You can borrow wheelchairs from the Smaragd building. Portable stools are also available. There are two areas that are not accessible to wheelchairs, the Japanese tearoom and the Atelier.
Shelley C — Google review
This is an excellent museum and an absolute must-see. Housing artifacts from around the (non-European) world it is particularly strong on China, Japan, and South Asia. I was blown away by its collection of early Chinese ceramic-ware, for instance. As well as the main collections don't miss the "visible storage" in the sub-basement, a treasure store simply packed with amazing works. Also has an excellent cafe and nice park around the museum.
Hugh P — Google review
Museum is nice. Park is great and free. Museum Rietberg is dedicated to non-European art and is composed of several historic villas. The main building, Villa Wesendonck, was built in 1857 in a neoclassical style. In 1949, the city of Zürich acquired the estate and transformed it into a museum. Additional historic buildings were incorporated: Villa Rieter, an 1857 neo-renaissance residence, and Remise, the former coach house.
Kent W — Google review
A very good museum with some stunning artefacts and a vast beautiful garden that’s good for strolling around and picnicking (we were there in mid May when the weather is becoming quite warm). Most of the artefacts are housed in a new modern extension is largely underground. The artefacts are beautifully and clearly displayed with fairly good bilingual captions in German and English. We were there when a special exhibition on the Korean Wave (of popular culture) was held.

What a marvelous place to go for a walk in the garden, have a coffee in the Cafe, enjoy a peaceful Japanese tea ceremony and get indulged with art. My new favorite art place on the south of Zürich.

I was positively surprised by the amount of precious objects in the collection! The museum has also a very nice garden.
Saeed M — Google review
The Rietberg is not just a museum, but certainly one of the most special places in Zurich that is worth discovering with care and time. Nestled in a beautifully landscaped and well-kept park, the museum offers an outstanding selection of international art treasures. In the adjoining café you can enjoy delicious treats inside or outside, depending on the weather. But the most important thing is the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, just a 4-minute walk from the lake. Definitely worth a visit.

Extremely recommended! It's very nice, with many different sections. There are many information signs (in German only though), and also some chairs around if you want to spend some time there in the park. Very nice for a colorful walk, and also for families :)

Really wonderful garden overall, the amount of nature and plants on the outside is already huge, but the real magic happens inside the greenhouses. It really recreates climate and flora of its 3 places, with differences on the humidity, wind, temperature. We have the impression of being on rainforest or dry Africa climate, depends on the greenhouse we’re in.

This Garden is the place to wonder nature’s creation. No entry ticket needed and open throughout the day. Very nice place to feel closer to nature. Very good place to jog . There is amazing cafeteria from the university. You have also the chance to buy some exotic plants or chilies that are grown in the garden

Beautiful garden and three greenhouses. It is incredible, but free entry. Nice to walk through and enjoy flowers, trees and all plants there. There’s a cafeteria, so you can take a break during your walk. You could also take some sandwiches and have picnic in the garden. I also strongly recommend for family. Kids can learn a lot in „Erlebnisgarten“. It’s a fun to visit and stroll here and always can learn something new.

The Zurich Opera is one of my favorites anywhere. It's a small and charming 19th century theater, with excellent acoustics and sight lines, and some of the best singers and one of the best opera orchestras anywhere. The repertory is diverse, and audiences are respectful and quiet. The location by the lake is spectacular. If you visit Zurich you really should try to catch a performance. Performances tend to sell out, so it's best to book in advance.

We had the absolute pleasure of taking part in a truly special opera tour, lovingly conducted by a kind older lady who has clearly been guiding with heart and soul for many years. Her deep knowledge, warmth, and passion for the Opernhaus made the experience unforgettable. She shared fascinating insights into the history, architecture, and inner workings of the opera house—things we never would have known otherwise. Her storytelling brought everything to life, and we left feeling inspired and so much more connected to the world of opera. This tour was not only informative, but genuinely uplifting. A must-do for anyone visiting the Opernhaus!

By day, it serves as a refreshing swimming destination with light bites and BBQ options at its restaurant.
What an amazing place with incredible views. Unfortunately the day we were here, it had just snowed, so the piers were tight to get in and out of, but it was totally worth it with the views of the fountain and the Alps in the background. Highly recommend this stop while traveling around Zurich.

Love this Badi. I go to the Ladies section. The bar has nice healthy food at reasonable prices, but they have always stress. Lockers, showers, wc, etc. Nice view

Always very busy, but come in the mornings to the women’s side and you’ll get to relax with an unobstructed beautiful view on the lake and the alps. Showers and changing rooms are available.

Great place to have a swim in the super clean lake of Zurich and have a drink. No, the drinks and the food are expensive. But you will have a great experience in return. It is also has a relax atmosphere and not a lot / almost no tourists.

Outstanding local Sauna, with plunging directly into the lake. We’d been seeking a sauna on our trip to Zurich and this didn’t disappoint. Excellent hospitality and clean facilities. You won’t be disappointed here.

We rented an electric boat for 3 hours on Lake Zurich and it was easy, reasonably priced and efficiently run. We will definitely do this again!
Karen B — Google review
Guys at the counter were not trying to help at all. Just so you know, when someone who is clearly a tourist and has a 20 kilo backpack on their back approach the facility, you dont look at their faces and say nothing. You start explaining how things work and try to help. Felt like i was interrogating your guys just to get some information. Hey and if you think the customer doesn't fit the profile, just say your exclusive nicely and be done with it.

Very popular (maybe too popular), and probably the best lake pool (Badi) in Zürich. The building and the amenities are a bit old and run down, but the view from the Badi, the easy access to the lake, the good drinks and great food, the awesome coffee and croissants in the morning and the general atmosphere more than make up for this. Usually quiet in the mornings until 11:00. Can be extremely busy in the afternoon, but again quiets down after 8PM, which honestly is the best time for a swim when the lake temperature allows it. I wish less people knew about this place, since I wish it was my own little piece of heaven. Has a mixed and a women only side. This might seem weird for some people, but in Zürich this is completely normal. During the summer and winter months they also have an awesome sauna service.

This place is my favorite place for drinks in Zürich. I love the drinks here. I love the place too and being on top of the clouds bar was just beautiful. Nice view +1. Sadly the staff here doesn’t seem to happy or nice, they seem very money oriented and only want people who spend a lot. This is a great place to get drinks with friends. It is very expensive though but luxury has its price. The bar at the ground floor has super nice bartenders and great drinks too so if the top is full (or you’re scared of heights) the other bar is very cool too.

Strandbad Tiefenbrunnen, established in 1886, is a picturesque lake bath located on the shores of Lake Zurich. It offers a paddling pool, playground, BBQ area, and a snack kiosk for visitors to enjoy. The area is popular for naturism and swimming during the warmer months. Additionally, it features a circular deck extending into the water where locals love to sunbathe. The location provides beautiful views of Lake Zurich and historical sites along its shore.
One of the best badis in Zürich, exceptionally kid friendly with dedicated baby-pool, slide, island in the lake and lots of shade. Table-tennis and 5m tower round off the offering. The wait at the entrance can sometimes be a little long, so it pays off to buy tickets in advance.
Simon L — Google review
Swimming in the lake was a great experience. Besides swimming, there are good possibilities to do other sports such as chess and table tennis. The quality of showers both outside and inside is excellent. It is clean and orderly everywhere. Beautiful flowers, plants, birds, sculptures as well as well designed and well kept lawns contribute to making this space a pearl. Thank you very much.

Of course the Zurich lakeside was busy on a Sunday on which we had nice warm weather. Even though there were 1,637 other visitors at the Badi when I entered (according to the display next to the cashier), I nevertheless managed to find a semi-quiet, shady spot where I could relax and listen to my audiobook in relative peace. I found it very refreshing to be able to dip my toes into the lake to cool down a bit.
Maria I — Google review
Had to pay to get in but not much. Was so worth it. They had a tuck.shop there and a resteraunt. Shower rooms and toilets. It is a grassy beach with steps that go into the water, a kods section, diving boards and pontoons in the water. They even have table tennis. Nice photo opplrtunitoes as there are little rockpool seating areas ( not many) . It does get bisy in the afternoon tho. Was ome of my favourite days in Switzerland
Donna C — Google review
Okay place. 6 CHF for my daughter in a wheelchair. Companion was free. I was 8 CHF. Easy to get in and out of the water. Staff were friendly. We went early and there were a few people about but not many.

Incredibly low service quality, even for Zurich standards -- staff is often more concerned about discussing about their weekend plans than providing service to the customer. Really enjoyed Sihlcity; it’s a small-to-medium-sized mall, exactly the kind I prefer over huge and crowded ones. It’s super easy to navigate, modern, and spotless. The Coop supermarket is excellent; spacious, well organized, and full of quality products. There’s a good mix of clothing stores, chocolate and other shops, plus plenty of restaurants and cafés both inside and nearby. It’s also within walking distance from our hotel, which made it extra convenient. A great spot to shop, eat, and relax without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

It is a very cool spot for different activities, high ropes courses for kids and adults, swimming pool, forest activity, hiking, grilling, etc. Offeres lots of parking spaces but limited public transportation. We had a great 1:30 walk with the view point as the highlight. We took the tram to the Zoo stop (tram 5 or 6 - or bus) and walked through the walking paths in the forest to the View Point. At the view point, count 153 steps up to see from Uster to Uetliberg! Stunning. In the way back, we choose to do a loop walking towards Witikon and taking to bus 31 back to Zürich at the stop Loorenstrasse. This is an easy walk, almost always flat in the forest. It is free - no tickets.

Really cool shop, with a rooftop viewing deck (albeit view is not that great). In a slightly rundown part of the city. Highly worth a visit if you are a Freitag fan!

The building is very unique, and as a FREITAG fan, I was excited to visit. They have a wide variety of bags and stock, though it's a bit challenging to find rare designs. We spent 4 hours in the museum to explore everything. Temporary exhibitions are interactive, well presented, and informative. Toilets can easily be found. Lockers are provided upon buying a ticket. It would have been more efficient for indicators (posters) to be more visible. We originally went to see the "Tales from the Alps" temporary exhibition but went at the wrong part of the museum. So we spent two hours on other expositions. In the end we were approached then guided by the museum staff. The castle is huge and 10000% worth the visit. Rooms are splendid and items as well as facilities are well-maintained. I recommend to take the day off to visit this one. There is also an excellent coffee shop and souvenir shop to close your visit.

I visit the Landesmuseum regularly with my friends. The museum is always entertaining, even when I come on my own. It's a great place to spend a rainy day. They often have a range of temporary exhibitions for movies, history, women's rights and what not. The exhibits are sometimes interactive which makes it a great pleasure to go with kids to.

Went to the Illuminarium show before Christmas - the lights are beautiful; the story this year was rather poor.

It's just ok. I guess it's beacuse Switzerland was always neutral! It's basically a museum of the Swiss constitution with many interactive experiences! The gift shop is amazing . I brought myself a swiss army pen knife right from the source! The cafeteria is also good. The courtyard is massive and extremely beautiful!

Landesmuseum is a great place to learn about Switzerland and the Federation. It offers various presentation/rooms about different historical eras. I enjoyed it very much. I suggest to allocate enough time to visit the whole museum.

Beautiful museum with lots of different exhibits. Currently Baroque period has a special exhibit. I also learned from the History of Switzerland and the Anne Frank Exhibit.

Schanzengraben, a historic moat dating back to the Thirty Years War, offers a picturesque and leisurely promenade path that zigzags from the main station to the shore of Lake Zurich. The waterway passes former bastions that reshaped the city and provides various seating options for visitors to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. This smallest river in Zurich features graceful walking paths where one can linger, read a book, or simply soak in the tranquil surroundings.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful promenade path along the watercourse, which zigzags from the main station to the shore of Lake Zurich. There are stairs every 100 meters or so, which you can use to get to the neighboring quarters. Various seating options, such as benches and stones, as well as ducks line the path and the water. (Translated by Google) The Schanzengraben is the smallest river in Zurich, but one with graceful walking paths. In some places you can also linger, open a newspaper or a book and enjoy the atmosphere and peace. As a child, I often went to the river bath, which offered a pleasant way to cool off.
