The hotel is a little old but they try to give their best. Rooms are spacious and have a message chair. The staff is also helpful. One issue, the restaurant doesn't serve ala Carte in the restaurant... One has to order in the room or opt for a buffet. Meenakshi temple is a 10-12 mins walk and one can easily get auto to reach there. Nearby restaurants like Sabreesh are very good. Overall, a good place if you want a good location with decent rooms.

The night buffet is equally good,offering an impressive spread that includes prawn, crab, fish, quail (kaadai),chicken curry, mutton biryani and a there's more options for vegetarian like white rice, rasam, nei soru veg friedrice and much more. The menu changes every day. Service: Room service was excellent. Pros: Clean and spacious rooms. 24-hour room service Round-the-clock coffee and tea availablity. Full-body massage chair. Cons: The bed height is quite high, which might make it difficult for elderly guests to get on or off comfortably. Parking space.

Excellent stay! The location is perfect, just opposite the railway station and close to the temple. The highlight for me was the exceptionally fast room service — my orders always arrived hot and fresh in no time. The staff were polite and attentive, making the stay very comfortable. However, I was not fully satisfied with the food taste, though I’m sure this is something the team will improve soon. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Madurai!

Great hotel. always believed that hotels opposite to the station are not good and should only be considered during emergencies. But, this hotel has completely changed my mind. Even before we entered the hotel, the luggage guy saw us came outside, knew our names and helped us in. The reception is extremely cordial and communicative, special mention- Abhishek who was very humble and thorough in his communication. The rooms didn’t look that great in pictures but were really good IRL. So we would rate them 5/5. The staff is very kind and polite, I will definitely stay back here when I visit again. PS1- Bathroom is perfect, loved the showers. PS2- Non veg is served in the restaurant, if you are pure vegetarian, you need to request separately and they will help you out.

Cons: 1. Continuous loud vibrations in room due to building air conditioner units. We developed headache due to the vibrations. Even the staff and manager are aware of it still using the room. First upon complaining they said will shut it at 9 pm but until 10:30 pm it was still creating uncomfortable vibrations. We could not even lie down on bed due to this 2. Food is not worth eating. There are very limited options at first for a vegetarian. Those also their cooking taste was not good at all. We ordered sweet corn soup and mushroom 65. Both were below average taste, in fact mushroom did not feel like mushroom 65 at all, more of a besan pakoda only. Chef doesnot know what is mushroom 65 perhaps. 3. Breakfast buffet had a decent spread but again quality was not very upto mark. Like they had aloo paratha in buffet but no aloo in that paratha. That was the only north indian item in menu. South Indian dishes like vada, idly, upma, dosa were of OK OK quality and taste nothing very good or bad in it Pros: close to station Massage chair in room (only service positive thing we saw)

Very accommodating staff, better price when you call and book with them directly. 24-hour check-in / check-out service available only through direct booking. Rooms are good, if you tell in advance they provide adjacent connecting rooms. Breakfast comes complimentary. Staff are kind, child friendly and great service.

It’s possibly our 8th or 9th stay with GRT and Aharam has always been the high point of our stay with them. Though the staff changes way too much - it’s always been a pleasure - this time round we had Aarti, who is a lovely person with the sweetest mannerism and Gobind (who has been a constant). They were able to accommodate our request for a late dinner on first day and served us with a lovely meal the second time round. Breakfast spread is amazing - hats off to Chef and baking staff- dinner the chettinad chicken , garlic naan, butter chicken(kids menu) and the Hakka noodles were real good. Thank you so much for hosting us

A pretty average restaurant inside a good hotel. The service is really slow. And stewards seem to be unclear of their responsibilities - who should take order, who should check status of readiness of the dish, etc. The food tastes average, and we found the portions to be less - two chicken gravy dishes were not enough for 4 people. Their cream of chicken soup actually smelt of cream/milk. We ordered ala carte for lunch and dinner. We even looked around for options outside the hotel but there are practically no family type places nearby.

Really nice place to enjoy homely food. The place feels as if you came to some relative's place and having some awesome food. The staff are friendly and if you are confused by the menu don't shy to ask for suggestions. By the way mutton biryani is awesome and so is the custered pudding. Will also suggest to try their thali and how can i forget the welcome drink in shot glass. By the way alcohol is strictly prohibited here. Only downside if you absolutely want to find one will be the price. Comparatively it's a bit costly.

Delicious food in a very clean restaurant. Staff are friendly and helpful. Hot and sour soups was savoury and satisfying. Best version of the dish I've had in a long time. Both their species were also quite good, Multigrain roti and Mongolian chicken.

Unplanned visit….entrance was small but dining area upstairs is spacious…. Had mutton Briyani….tasty and cost was cheap for the taste we got….not much of waiting time….overall had a Happy Meal😊

Mutton biryani was good. Taste may be Madurai, not Chennai, Salem or Dindigul. Quantity a little bit less for a person. Considering that the price is a little bit high. Service is very good. Though Parotta was not available, they made four parota parcel specially for me. The entrance look is not good. But inside though old is classic. Overall good.

Excellent food and service. Was passing through Madurai and someone recommended this restaurant for Chettinad food, so I took a chance and stopped in. The Nattukoli soup (first time I had eaten such a dish) was rich and flavourful. Fish biryani too was very flavorful. The people working here were very attentive and kind. Highly recommend this place.

I recently dined at this restaurant and had mixed feelings. The food was delicious - we ordered parotta, Madura chicken, and fried rice, and all dishes tasted great. However, the major letdown was the complete lack of hygiene inside the restaurant. The atmosphere was unclean and unpleasant. While the food was good, the unhygienic conditions were a major concern. Improvement in cleanliness and ambiance would greatly enhance the dining experience.

Went here after watching a video about food. Ordered kothu porotta, kalakki/valiyal, mutton chukka.. I am not a mutton fan normally but this was the best chukka I have ever had.. Food was very tasty.. Place was full with people having biryani n meals even at 4.30pm..wanted to try their famous ceylon porotta but it was not there.. One thing they should try to concentrate is on cleanliness. There was a lady sweeping our floor when we were having food and that's not a good sight, at least for me, when I am having the best chukka in my life. 😊

I've been going here for almost three decades 🙂 my best place for muttai parotta. Their ginger chicken with koottu is amazing and is a must try. From a humble start as a roadside restaurant, they have grown into such size with their food taste. Though there is no car park available in front as the street is congested, late at night you will get space for a carpark. You can also call this street the food Street of goripalayam. It's filled with so many restaurants.

Really one of the nightmares for me.. too much colour liquid in the food... Sorry for this review... Had the worst experience on one of the memorable dinner nights...

Fantastic parota making skills. Extraordinary chicken curry for parota. I liked the plain parota with chicken curry.. some chicken stuffed parota was decent enough which some might love it just like my wife did . Place and making doesn't look hygenic, would compromise for the taste once in a while

I visit your, vishal de mall branch with my family, all are very hungry when enter into.. worst ever experience... hair in briyani another one with dark colour highly tosted chicken piece in briyani. Friend rice with too salty another one is no salt. Old tomoto ketchup and bad service. Guys deliver food first plate next. . The chicken biryani was good and the quantity was decent. The chukka and the mutton kola are definitely worth a try, but the quantity is less for the price. They give the dishes with a mutton kolambu which is spicy and flavourful. The food comes quick and the restaurant was hygienic. It can get very crowded during lunch hour. I was a little disappointed with the service as there were a few issues.

The food in Kumar Mess was like… I don’t even know what they trying to do. I ordered veg meals and non veg meals and both taste so bad I was actually confused which one is supposed to be better. Veg meals was like boiled sadness and the non veg meals had many items but all of them somehow manage to be bland at the same time. How they do that, I have no idea. Also the price is like they think they are serving some 5-star feast but actually it’s not even 1-star taste. Over priced to the maximum. So many non veg items but zero flavour, zero excitement, zero anything. Honestly not worth the money or the time or the chewing effort.

This place is well kept, it's neat and welcoming. They have a quick service and good staff. Mutton biriyani and kola are something which should be tried from here. For me both did justice to the price tag and it tastes good. The chicken biriyani is expensive for its small quantity and the mutton chukka has less quantity for the price. However, I still feel this place is not to be missed as the mutton dishes do justice to your Palate.

The meals to my surprise was all veg dishes, you need to order nv dishes separately. you have no non veg meals option if you want to eat something light. They do give 3-4 gravy along with meal, mostly so so exception was the mutton gravy. Palatable, good for one time lunch. Doesn't live to the hype though.

I absolutely love the mutton biryani over here, I love the portion size & the succulent meat. The other non veg options are sometimes a hit or a miss, we tried the prawns pepper fry & it was okayish, could have been better. The service was quick.

Worst experience of my life! Very bad taste — the biryani had no spice and wasn’t cooked well. No AC, and they still charged GST even though customers said not to — total scam! They served 4 pieces of “rabbit chicken” — we thought it was normal chicken at first, but later they said it was rabbit! What the hell! They charged ₹350 — way too expensive for such tasteless food. Totally a waste of time and money.

Rooms- had booked for 3A+1C. Room had one King size bed with extra bed. Sofa was available but not of much use. Feel room size is smaller against appears in pics. However, bathroom and cleanliness were great. All basic toiletries, kettle, etc were adequate. Service- Average service even at cafeteria or high tea area. Only good part was baggage service. A lot of scope for improvement. Location- Decent location and peaceful as is below a bridge. Easy to get auto. Not much far from Amman temple.

A wonderful hotel with a nice restaurant. The breakfast spread was great ! The rooms are clean, and the overall service was good. There is also a hi-tea in the evenings - usually a couple of interesting snacks with coffee/tea. This is on-the-house, and is quite popular with the guests. Location of the hotel - it is besides a flyover, and may not be the best location. A bit hard to get to. However, It is only a few kms away from the places to see,

One of the Good Authentic Non Veg Foods of Madurai . Had Chicken Briyani, Chicken 65, Brain Fry, Non Veg Meals ,Nethili Fish Gravy, Mutton Chukka, Mutton Kola. All the Food We Had for Lunch Was Really Good. Non AC Dining at Ground Floor AC Dining at First Floor. No Lift was There . Price Was Affordable and Service was Ok. No Menu Card was There but Waiter Was Efficient to Hold the Menu Titles. Management Need to Work on Washroom too. Parking Need to Do in the Corporation Area Before the Hotel and They ll Charge 20. I Hope the Hotel Needs to Work on That Part.

Food is good service too slow (particularly in ac) and servers not good enough and shrewd to do prompt service that's missing absolutely when we had non veg meals we asked for rasam and butter milk to drink rather than to eat, as we ate meals with non veg gravies. So rasam and butter milk is basic part of Meals while we asked to give it to us for drink the server gave rasam and when enquired about buttermilk he was staring at us like anything without uttering a word it took us by a shock and after a minute he said buttermilk is not available, such unacceptable behavior. The place is not the same I think like it had to be in the entrance small shop.

Worst Hotel Experience Ever! Me along with my family went on last sunday & server treated in a very bad way. He said, another family is waiting in the car to occupy the space and asked us to go & sit somewhere. It is fine for us to switch places but all about is the respect & manners. Everyone will pay for whatever is the bill amount. He (Server) treated us in a very very disrespectful manner. We left without eating & went to another decent hotel & ate our dinner peacefully with full respect & we paid our BILL amount also! TREAT EVERYONE EQUALLY!

It's right opposite the High Court and the food is quite good. There's good biryani and the chatti choru was nice. The meals are okay. It's usually not very busy outside of 1:30 to 2:15.

Located in othakadai. (3KM from mattuthavani bus stand. Very good Chettinadu special restaurant. All variety of Non veg items available. One of the best non veg restaurant in madurai.

A bit expensive, but worth it. I really like their balanced Biriyani without overdose of masala and chilli thats usually the case elsewhere, Just masala or more meat taste. Here you get some of the best balanced ones. I got addicted immediately, although it's a hit or miss if you order from home. Whenever I dine in here,Egg/Plain biriyani was awesome. Other Non Veg items I cannot comment as I'm eggetarian but my friend did enjoy fish finger, Kari Dosa, Crab lollipop! Easy recommendation if you are in Madurai!

I am ordered half grill chicken in jb restaurant (ponmeni) .....rate is 409 through swiggy but there is no mayonnaise no lemon etc... I am very disappointed ☹️

One of the best In madurai it used to be that way for me. People in bypass road and surroundings the favorite place for paroota, grill chicken has to be JB for years. Been here after a very long time quality of food has come down a bit particularly salna. Parotta has also become a bit hard. Egg koththu is good and is the savior, grill chicken is garnished with goo much of pepper that's spoiling the actual taste and becoming too spicy need to check with that.

Kindly teach your staffs in cash counter some manners on how to behave with the customers. The bill amount was 491 RS and i gave 500 RS. He had a bowl full of change in coins in cash counter. Instead of giving the change they are telling us to cancel the order / add extra something. Even when i add a parotta extra , they refused to give the change. The people in cash counter are purposefully doing this to many customers from the day JB cancelled UPI payments and told only cash. I am a customer of JB for nearly 15 years. Kindly don't loose many of your customers because of these kind of people. Kindly remove the cash counter illeterates.

Awesome chicken grill. The grill chicken with half ground pepper over it makes your day. Ambience is good for friends. For family dining might not be comfortable. The prices are normal. Only chicken recipes available.

House of sandwiches have wide varieties of sandwiches and shawarma and grilled chicken the food was tasty and the place loved by non veg eaters and the main thing shop was unclean and unhygenic and shop was uncomfort to enjoy with groups

TLDR CHEATING EMPLOYEES. I ordered a fried saucy chicken and the employee said that it costed 220Rs. There was no menu in the shop and there was no bill provided. I immediately noticed that price seemed a bit higher. I asked the employee abt the price. He simply went back to the kitchen and acted like he was adding more sauce to the kitchen and muttered something to the other employee. I realized that something was off and came back home with an uneasy feeling. To my dismay, I found out that the chicken is supposed to cost 110 Rs from my dad (who is a regular customer) I have been eating from this shop for almost 5 years now. The food tastes awesome. But the blatant cheating and dishonesty of the employees is something that will stop me from returning back ever again.

Could have given it a 5 if it wasn't for the chicken burger. The patty was a fried chicken patty which was ok in taste. We couldn't try the shawarma as we went early, the chicken cheese sandwich was nice and stuffed. What stole the show was the grill chicken, perfect blend of spices and cooked to perfection. Should definitely try it.

Good food at worst atmosphere. Had pongal + vada + coffee = 110Rs + 10 Rupees tips. Pongal is good meets my expectation. Vada as well is good but not hot. Coffee decoction is good but milk is mediocore that spoiled the coffee taste. Don't use mediocore milk brand milk pockets and use milk from paal pannai as used by hotels nearby for good taste. Service is good - very fast. Though not professional service, it is ok. The main negative is their maintenance of the hotel. It was too dirty and not even in clean shape. They should have provided closed AC dining for this price (its not cheap) but chose to keep the entire hotel front (30 feet) kept OPEN in front of main road - all the dust from buses/auto/biktes are happily entering into our food. More over the sofas/chairs are very old / pathetic and we could see very mediocore. Even small restaurants keep their hotel environment nice now a days, not expecting this from temple city chain.

I am 2 star not because food. Food was great here but in Madurai every service provider forces you to pay extra. This is only with tourists. The server at the restaurant forced us to pay the tip, even after refusing he was not moving forward with payment and only after adding extra he agreed.

I get parcel of 4 idlis with chutney, and both were of extremely poor quality. The idlis were tasteless and not fresh, and the chutney had a very bad taste. Totally disappointed with the food — not worth the money at all.

Its one of the good hotel for dinner and lunch. They serves biriyani with different varieties like bucket concept and regular biriyani. Also their special items like valai ilai parota is not as expected, it could have been better in taste. Price is reasonable and would recommend for a try once.

Good place to dine with your friends and family. Briyani was delicious and fingerlicking. Can't wait to go there again. Some restaurants might not have food in the evening like 4 or 5 pm. But here you can get it anytime. Overall it was a good place. Compact and complete

Worst service. They are focusing only online customers.. No repose for walk in customer. I think in future ,they will run business through online....Sure hotel is loosing thier walk in customers. At the time of my visit, a customer is eating biriyani with out water in table. He is asking water several times,, no one is responsing..better order food in online rather to go this hotel.

Mostly yummy, rarely not. Good place for fried chicken and other chicken snacks. Fiery Indian is a must try. They even sell cookies now. Good service and reasonable prices. The place is frequented by college students and families alike. Not really kid friendly as I once saw a child fall off the table. So take care of your kids of you bring them along.

My worst ever experience at this place today i had been with my family for dinner the quantity was not sufficient even for my 5year old son. Quality of food was okay! Food was reheated it dint taste fresh. Mutton pieces was sufficient but rice quantity was very less as mentioned not sufficient for my 5year old. Mutton biriyani half at 230 Chicken biryani 190 n 65 at 80 for 5 small pieces. My sincere suggestion pls don’t waste your money and fall for this scam.
