A peaceful and memorable visit to Madurai Meenakshi Temple I recently visited the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and it was a beautiful experience. The temple is grand and full of history, with amazing carvings and colorful towers. At the moment, the towers are under renovation and painting work is going on, so most of them are covered. Still, the temple’s beauty and energy can be felt everywhere. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and spiritual. The darshan of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar felt very peaceful. Even though it was crowded, everything was fairly well organized. One thing to be careful about — there are a lot of people outside trying to mislead visitors, especially auto drivers and some shopkeepers. They might say there’s no cloakroom inside, but don’t believe that. There are official cloakrooms near all four temple towers where you can safely keep your slippers and mobile phones. This place is awesome. A lot of spiritual values with history. Located in between City. Market, shops, restaurant near by. Special Darshan can be available with 100 rs ticket for both temple inside the campus. Free darshan takes more time than usual. Now painting work is going on. And maybe it will six months atleast so now people not able to see it's beautiful architecture from outside. Mobile, Smart watch, earbuds etc not allowed inside temple. U can kept it in claok room with reasonable price less than 20rs accordingly. No special dress code required for this temple. Nearest junction is madurai and auto available easily or u can go by walk.

#Must visit date October 2025 One of the Most beautiful temple of devi meenakshi and Sundareshwar. The Sculpture inside it are marvelous. The deaty is absolutely stunning. * Lot of Marwadi and Rajastani visits this place so lot of verity of hotels and restaurants, lodges are available. * One of largest and ancient city of Tamilnadu hance it's little bit crowded. So be ready for crowd. But very peaceful inside. * No Mobile phones allowed inside so no photos though. ( Lockers are available beside each gate ) ⚠️ Please stay inside at night before closing time, you will get to see a very beautiful ritual where God Sundareshwar comes and meet devi meenakshi and both were kept in a kaksha ( like room ) for rest of the Night. The whole ritual is too amazing. ⚠️ Lots of rooms available also dormetry for solo's , don't advance book before seeing room unless it's odd time.

Do not visit this place until they finish their renovation. It’s total waste of money and time. On each side of main building which is under renovation, there are two galleries. One is paid and another is either free or included in the price. Staffs at both centre were taking their mid noon nap and was not bothered to greet or say hello. All what’s on display was in a very bad state. There were lots of spelling mistakes on all the writings. Someone accountable, please have a look. This is not what a Gandhi Museum in India should look like even when it’s on renovation. Very very very disappointed and has never seen anything pathetic like this.

Didn't go there. This is always in renovation. Wase r of time. Glad that ticket cost is not so high, just ten rupees per adult and five rupees for kids. Museum renovated for ever ..this is a bad administration for all relevant departments. And it's a huge reputation damage to the City. I urge honorable district collector sir to jump in an look into this on priority.

Main museum is under renovation (it was supposed to have reopened by now), government museum is often closed depending on the day, and the only thing to see is a small exhibit on the Indian independence movement, a replica of Gandhi’s house, and a shrine that (supposedly) contains some of his ashes. Worth 30-45 minutes if you’re already in the area otherwise skip it - you can get the same information about Gandhi online quite easily. Also why is there a giant T-Rex at a Gandhi memorial? Seems a bit distasteful.

I visited this place on 17th July 2025. There was only a small gallery where you could learn about india's journey from when the britishers started colonising to the independence period.. it would take 30- 40 mins to see this gallery. A lot of history that we learned in school and more can be understood from here. In addition to this there is a small museum that was open. There is also a small memorial where Gandhijis ashes are kept. However, the main museum was closed for renovation. Based on my interaction with one staff member, it seems the closed part of the museum would re-open on 2nd October 2025. Pls check with the latest info.. i have seen many reviewers criticizing the staff working there. However, i never faced any issues and the staff were very polite.

The government museum was closed as we visited on a second Saturday. Some sections of the museum were set up on some individual buildings which we could see. Our experience was good.

Visited the museum on 2 October 2025.. The main museum (palace) was closed for renovation. Some pictures, books and written facts about Gandhiji and freedom struggle is displayed in the gallery. There is a small bookshop near the gallery. Saw the Asthi peedam. Gandhi kutir was closed. The small museum to the left was closed. It has many historical artifacts. # Inside the gallery the staffs were watching reels with high volume. # The security in front of the small museum was very rude. As tourists we may not know everything about the museum and buildings. So if we ask something I believe they should answer politely or guide us to someone who is more informed.

A vaishnava temple that had history of More than 2300 years in record , Tamil literature talks about only kal azhaghar koil, to differentiate that the name kept as koodal azhaghar koil (koodal -madurai). Temple have a wide pragaram with pillared hall showing beautiful paintings of 108 divyadesham . The top view of gopuram are top notch of the temple architecture (similar to seerkali sattainathar temple). Very beautiful paintings representing 10 avathars of Vishnu and Stories (must visit the temple who and all visiting madurai meenakshi) this temple is very near(400m)from meenakshi but sadly unnoticed by many devotees

I am a non-muslim and when i tried to enter the mosque someone at the entrance kindly told me to wash my hands and legs before getting in the mosque. The mosque is air conditioned and comfortable for prayer. This is a 12the century mosque with stonework like the temples of those days.

A divine experience, Architectural marvel of South India - Spread over 14 acres, this temple is a masterpiece of Dravidian architecture. Every pillar and sculpture tells a story, and the thousand-pillared hall is simply breathtaking. Darshan was smooth, I opted for normal darshan (special darshan queue is of 50 and 100 rs however it is more crowded than the free darshan line) . It took around 1-1.5 hrs in queues on Sunday night for darshan and around 30-40 minutes when I visited for darshan on Monday morning. My overall experience was good and highly recommend.

The visit to the Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple was an incredible experience but was under construction and maintenance. The main entrance was closed until 14.07.2025. They have special darshan ticket of 100rs. The temple is beautiful but also has a sense of divinity. I wonder and am amazed by the stunning architecture. The art and sculpture carvings on every wall. The atmosphere was serene, The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan. The sculptures were a feast for the eyes. There were shops at the entrance. It was not just a sight seeing, it was deeply rejuvenated and connected to ethnicity. I highly recommend this temple to everyone for the devotees of Lord Kandha. To enhance yourself and experience cleansing of the karmic.

Om Muruga! Lord Muruga's Muthal Padai Veedu (1st Abode), beautifully located on the foothills of Thiruparankundram. Well maintained and blissful darshan. Less crowd on the weekday morning time. Spacious vehicle parking area available (near Saravana Poigai - Sacred Pond) few hundred meters away from the temple premises.

Arulmigu Subramaniya Swami Temple, Tirupparankundram, Madurai Detailed Review: My mom and I visited Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple on 09-09-2025 to offer our prayers to Lord Murugan. We travelled by bus — first from Sivagangai to Madurai MGR Bus Stand, and then took another bus to Thiruparankundram. Buses are available quite frequently, and it takes around 30 to 40 minutes from the MGR Bus Stand to reach the temple. From the bus stop, it’s just a short walk to the temple entrance. Since we went on a weekday, there wasn’t much crowd, which made the darshan peaceful. There are plenty of pooja shops and small hotels near the temple. We bought our pooja items from one of the shops and then went inside. It took us around 40 minutes for darshan, and it was a truly divine experience. A small tip for devotees — you can bring a container to collect milk after darshan, as it’s considered very sacred. Many devotees were waiting to receive it after seeing the deity. There’s free parking available outside, though not a dedicated space. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside the temple premises, so it’s best to leave them in your vehicle or with trusted vendors outside. Inside the temple, there are mini stalls selling temple-related items and prasadam, which costs only ₹10 each — all of them tasted really good! Overall, it was a great and peaceful experience. The temple is beautiful and spiritually uplifting, but it could use better organisation in terms of crowd management, both inside and outside the premises.

Very famous lord Murugan Temple nearby Madurai. One of six abodes of lord Murugan. Very powerful. Its believed that Lord Murugan married Devasena amman here. Peaceful and serene place. Rock cut structure. Usually crowded on weekends. Takes around 1 hour for Darshan. There are 2 queues general and speed darshan (Rs. 100). The temple will be closed during afternoon times. The sanctum sanctorum is different from other temples. The idle of lord Murugan marrying Devasena amman are kept in a mirror mage kind of structure in the open room. There's a huge parking space nearby temple. We can't park on the roadside.

We visited morning on a weekday. It's very ancient and famous Murugan temple. Paths to it are narrow and parking is a hassle. Weekend's and festivals are crowded. Temple offers as usual free & paid ₹100/- pp Darshana. Offerings shop are outside along with free stand to place your footwear. No washroom I could locate though. It's located near foothills of mountain so while driving to it the view is great 👍 Our darshan was hassle free and the swamis were kind enough to allow us to pray standing before the idol without rushing us. Overall experience was good. Though during rush hours things might be totally different 🤫

We went during Diwali holiday... One day before.. infact free darshan lines looks empty... But we didn't noticed that... So we got 200rs ticket for darshan.. so please check free darshan line before you paying for paid darshan ticket...

It's the place where Ramana Maharshi had the death like experience which stirred the quest within him. That was a really calm and serene place where you can sit and meditate(upstairs). Simple Pooja and Bhajan are performed in the ground floor. There's a small library of his books too.

We visited the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and were absolutely mesmerized by its stunning architecture. What an incredible temple! I highly recommend everyone to visit it at least once in their lifetime it truly leaves you speechless. The only downside was that we went on a public holiday. Even with the ₹100 ticket, the waiting time was around 3 hours, so I can only imagine how long the queue must be for the free entry! Despite that, the overall experience was very rewarding and memorable.

Location: In central Madurai, Tamil Nadu, about 2 km from the Meenakshi Amman Temple. Architecture: A blend of Dravidian, Indo-Islamic, and some European influences (stucco, arches, domes). Vijayanagara / Nayaka style. --- ✅ Highlights: What Makes It Special 1. Grand Scale & Pillars The most striking feature are the massive halls and pillars. Some pillars are ~ 48 ft tall, very thick and ornate. Walking among them gives a strong sense of the palace’s former majesty. 2. Swarga Vilasam & Dance / Audience Hall The Swarga Vilasam (Celestial Pavilion) is particularly beautiful. The dome, arches, octagonal auditorium, high ceilings — all contribute to a majestic ambience. The dance/range hall and the corridors are visually rich. 3. Originally four times its current size, the palace complex served as the king's residence and was designed to be one of the most magnificent in South India. The palace's architecture is a notable example of the late Tamil Country Nayaka style of Vijayanagara architecture, incorporating Indo-Islamic and Persian influences. Standing out with its colossal 13-meter-tall pillars, the palace's interior is richly decorated, using a smooth, glossy stucco finish made from a mixture of shell lime and egg white. The most prominent surviving parts are the Swarga Vilasam (Celestial Pavilion) and the main courtyard, which measures 75m by 50m. The Swarga Vilasam features a large hall with 12-meter-high arcades and a dome supported by massive circular columns. Inside the palace, visitors can also see a museum-like display of ancient artifacts, including urns that are said to be 2000 years old. Over its history, the palace suffered significant damage from war and neglect. Much of the original structure was either demolished by the king's grandson to build a new palace or scavenged for materials. It later served as a military barracks and a factory under the British East India Company. Well, don't expect anything grandiose , but it can give few interesting sculpture or painted designs. Unfortunately some work in progress, (lights) so parts of tge place non accessible. Otherwise as seen in photos some designs can be interesting ! I went early so no wait for ticket (50 inr for forrigners) 10 inr for locals! I believe later in dsy it moght be crowdy for ticketing . Great number of large pillars . Few antic pieces!

Architecture of the palace is excellent. Ticklet price is only 10 rs. per person. Huge open space but mot much to see except the palace walls itself. Still would recommend. Located very near the Meebakshu Ammam Temple.

The palace is not fully opened. The places other than dance hall is closed. Light show is also not happening now. The dance hall is awesome. But it's not worth as a single spot visit. If you are visiting in the temple, you can choose this as a substitute place.

The Palace was really beautiful. A must visit if you are planning to visit Madurai. The palace had a lot of beautiful pillars and architecture and a breath taking view. The palace is open from 9:00AM to 1:00PM and then opens again from 1:30PM to 5:00PM The entry fees is 10 per person. I would suggest you to visit the palace in the evening since there is a light and sound show starting from 6:45PM (only one English show). The light and sound show fees is 50rs per person.

Very Nice spot for children's and it is near Ghandhi Museum and Tamil sangam. You can spend entire day there. There is small canteen for snacks. The parking is main issue though. For children it is fun over there.

Good option for kids outdoor activities. Lots of rides, and activities for kids at a reasonable price. Be careful with kids as most of the slides and rides are old and may have sharp edges at some places. It needs a good renovation. Entry fee Rs.10 each person after that rides charges are separate. Most of the rides are for Rs 50 each and some rides are for Rs.30. Small Boat rides were there for kids Rs.50 but water was very dirty and too many boats in a small pool, very uncomfortable for kids. Management needs to take care this. Lots of eatry Shops are there, having tea, coffee, ice cream and other items. Lots of slides and play area is there for kids. Free Parking road side available.

A very old kids park in madurai. Favorite park in madurai for those who were born between 80-90's. The best part is it is easily accessible and the worst part is park maintenance is poor and still using old play items and most of them are damaged. Ther is no proper food outlet within park. So it is dying ship and management have to lot of steps to improve the park.

One of the biggest children's park in madurai, plethora of kids activities which includes aquarium, swing, sliders and more. It has many rides which are mainly suitable for children. Entry fees is 10 for adults and 5 for children above 3 year aged.

These caves are located in Thiruparankundram. It's on walkable distance from the train station. But trains are very few, so try bus number 48 from Madurai Periyar bus stand instead. There are plenty of those. The caves are also walkable from Thiruparankundram bus stop where you will get down. Caves are closed most if the times, but there is a small opening in the compound from where you can enter. The climb is steep and can be slippery if its raining. There is a big cave and couple of rock beds. What I found more interesting are the board games marked on the floor. One of them resembles chess/shatranj or a similar game. You can skip it if you are short on time.

There was a board by ASI at the entrance. But the gate was closed. We couldn't inside or climb up. Locals seemed to be not very familiar with the spot

Don t climb : the path is hard walking and there is so few to see. It does t worth it !! Look the photos is enough. The main door was closed nut there is entrance on the right side, through the garden of a house !!!

Best spot to to a hill trail treck. Looks too high but it is a very short path to reach the caves, can reach the top within 5 minutes. But it is closed for the public from the last year.

There are two entrances located across from the thiruparakundram train station. Trekking to the Jain rock bed won't take more than 30 minutes. There are a few shops close to the entrance where you may get a water bottle

Good place to visit with kids. Can reach by car. Hand rails and steps are nicely laid by archeology department. Natural cavern with jain beds present.. amazing view from above.. will take an hour most to go up and come down. Take sufficient water bottles.

Fishes and sea lives bodies are preserved well in the glass bottles... And at the entrance have a lot of stone statues... Like nanthi... Madurai veeran extra.... There is huge dinosaurs... Statue also placed for tourist purpose... One layout of Madurai meenatchi amman kovil miniature.. Keep it safely inside the glass box. Thank you

I recently visited Vettri Theatre in Chromepet, and it was an excellent experience overall! The theatre has two screens: Screen 1 (Vettri) and Screen 2 (Rakesh). Screen 1 is the highlight, being the biggest screen with Dolby Atmos and 4K projection. The sound clarity and visuals were outstanding, making it the perfect choice for big-budget films and festival releases when the crowd vibe adds to the excitement. The seating is comfortable, and the screen size enhances the cinematic experience. Screen 2 (Rakesh) is smaller and equipped with Dolby 7.1 and 4K projection. While the picture and sound quality are good, I found the screen to be a bit narrow, making it my least preferred choice, especially for high-action films. It still offers a decent movie experience, but if given a choice, I would always pick Screen 1 for grand visuals and immersive sound. The snack options are impressive, offering a wide variety of items at moderate prices. Compared to PVR and INOX, the prices here are much more reasonable, though slightly higher than standalone single-screen theaters. However, considering the choices available and the quality of food, I found it to be worth it. The popcorn was fresh, and they had good combo offers on beverages and snacks. The restrooms were well-maintained and clean, which is a big plus, as hygiene is crucial in public places like theaters. The seats were comfortable, and the air conditioning was at a pleasant level—not too cold or warm, making for a comfortable viewing experience. Currently, there is some construction work going on outside the theater, which makes the entrance a bit cluttered. However, the parking space is ample and can accommodate both cars and bikes comfortably. Once the construction is complete, the surroundings should look much better. Overall, Vettri Theatre provides a fantastic movie-watching experience with top-notch sound, visuals, and decent facilities. It’s my go-to place for watching big movies, especially on festive occasions when the theater is packed with an enthusiastic crowd. It's a good budget cinema theatre for friends and family. Parking can be a bit crowded, but the snacks are good and budget-friendly compared to PVR or Cinepolis.

I recently visited this theatre and was shocked by the unprofessional and discourteous behaviour from both the manager and the employees. Instead of addressing my concerns politely, the staff seemed indifferent and dismissive, showing little interest in customer satisfaction. The manager, who should be setting an example, was unwilling to listen and spoke in a condescending tone, making the entire experience unpleasant. The employees were equally unhelpful, with no effort to resolve issues or maintain basic courtesy. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, this visit left me feeling unwelcome and disappointed. Unless there is a serious improvement in customer service, Il I cannot recommend this theatre to others.

Theatre quality is bad.... Out of emergency took balcony ticket. Seats were poorly maintained and the main issue was there were BED BUGS on all the seats..... Needs a lot of tinkering and maintenance..Lost movie the entire movie watching experience..

I had the worst experience here due to the lack of power backup, which resulted in a whole day wait when the power went out with no response from management. The management was irresponsible, and there were no proper seating arrangements for waiting. When booking tickets, there was no power, yet they continued to book tickets without informing us about the power cut or the delayed movie start time.…..

All screens are with more seat capacity, we can get seat easily. Screen is good with ok level atmosphere. Car parking is open place. Construction work in progress, and once completed they may meet our expectation. Snacks price is less than PVR and other multiplex. For me it's ok level. not good not bad. Vels group bought this, so we can hope all construction work will be completed soon. If you don't get ticket in city side multiplex you can consider
