Pie shop
Brunch restaurant
Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits is a charming bakery located in Logan Square, offering a delightful array of homemade sweet and savory pies and biscuits for dine-in or takeout. The menu features a rotating selection of pies, with must-try options like the key lime pie. Visitors can expect an ever-changing daily menu that includes unique flavors such as earl grey tea-flavored London Fog pie, pandan pie, and malort pie.
So happy we went out of our way to stop here! Everything we had was delicious! The pie dough was perfectly baked, flaky and flavorful. Highly recommend jam & cream on a biscuit - it was warm and light and delectable. This was our first stop in Chicago, driving from Detroit and reminded me of our own local pie shop, Sister Pie, but BangBang Pie & Biscuits had menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner - plus a pie garden. Such a cute and unique place, I hope to come visit again the next time I’m in the city.

I've been coming to Bang Bang Pies for about 12 years! It's one of my favorite places to talk about and visit when I come through Chicago. It has evolved over time, but thankfully has maintained its delicious staples: homemade biscuits, butter, jam, and cheese grits. It’s a great stop, especially for bringing out-of-town visitors. The menu is simple, the prices are reasonable, and there's always friendly service. There’s seating inside and a nice courtyard with seating outside. And their pies are the best I've had in the city. Order early for those!
Jason E — Google review
Fun cozy spot with some tasty bites! The sausage biscuit was amazing, the biscuit really stole the show though. The cup of grits came as a bowl of grits and were alright. The key lime pie was perfect - not too sweet, not too tart. The service was so kind and inviting. The inside seating section is decent but they also have a great big outdoor section with picnic tables and a fence to make it feel more secluded. Love this spot!
Monika K — Google review
Absolutely hands down best pie I’ve ever had. We ordered a very specific pie that is only in season once a year for a few weeks and Shannon and her whole team went out of their way to get this pie done for me. It had a very sentimental meaning to it and the team really went so far above and beyond to make sure they were able to get this pie done. I will forever be coming back to get any future pie with them. It was absolutely delicious beyond expectations.
Lauren S — Google review
Unassuming great spot for breakfast. There is a great patio out back and a quick counter order format. The biscuits are great with the jam or as a sandwich. The BLT and chicken sausage biscuit where huge hits. I highly recommend this spot to grab a quick breakfast for
Vanessa T — Google review
Amazing homemade pies. Flavors change often. Key Lime was so tart and delicious. The Honey pie was sweet and fresh fruit on top while the S’Mores pie was chocolate heaven.
Eric — Google review
This place is a gem. We really enjoyed our Baklava Cheesecake pie and savory pickled beet arugula salad on this frigid morning. The staff was super friendly, and overall, a lovely vibe. The inside is quite small so I’m excited to come back when it is warm outside to take advantage of their patio. I was appreciative of the changing table in the bathroom as well.
Tayne B — Google review
You need to go out of your way to come here! I had an amazing savory biscuit with scrambled eggs. The biscuit was thick, buttery, and flaky. The key lime pie was great, but not perfect. I will be back when it’s warmer to try other pie flavors and enjoy their back patio.

Spinning J Bakery and Soda Fountain is a charming spot that offers seasonal pies, gelato, and classic soda-fountain treats in a quaint setting with vintage furniture. The modern-day soda fountain features a marble bar from 1928 and uses reclaimed materials to create its unique charm.
Top 2 breakfast sandwich I’ve had in Chicago. the roasted poblano sandwich was great! I forgot to get meat but I still enjoyed it. Also had a cinnamon roll. Just wish they served it warm, but it was still good even though it was cold!
Victoria L — Google review
cute little quaint spot close to Humboldt Park. The staff was super friendly and were helpful when navigating the menu. The cinnamon roll is a must if you’re into sweets like me, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the baked goods. I’m a big fan of breakfast sandwiches and their English muffin egg and cheese really hit the spot .

I came here at 10:30am and waited in line for 40 minutes until sitting. But it was all inside waiting and it wasn't bad at all. The staff were nice and made you feel welcomed. Great environment for kids too, casual. I got the Kale and Pablano breakfast sandwich and it was so good. It had great flavor, and with Chilula it's incredible. My partner got the polenta breakfast sandwich, it was crunchy, soft, and delicious. We got a few milkshakes (this iced tea & chocolate) it was all good. Definitely suggest this place!
Natasha A — Google review
This spot is extremely hyped. We went Sunday afternoon. We the spinning J breakfast sandwich and Poblano sandwich to go. Both were extremely average. Not sure if it has anything to do with getting carry out vs. dine in but underwhelmed. Atmosphere inside seemed great and lively though.
Omar S — Google review
Fun house mirror wall and delicate and delicious breakfast sandwich, got it with sausage and the blue cheese biscuit. Damn. Very green tasting matcha, yummo. Invigorating brekky
Alexander H — Google review
First off, excellent service! the staff is very polite and they recommended me the peanut butter cookie, which was maybe the best pb cookie I've ever had! It's the right kind where it's soft and crumbles. If you know you know. Got the chipotle kale sandwich which had great flavor! and paired well with the handmade cola i got. I tasted the soda and thought, woah, this is actually made with real ingredients lol. You can tell it's not the usual chemicals you'd get in a storebought soda, of course it's delicious. You can taste the actual ingredients and it's just good for your soul.
Kat — Google review
Ordered the roasted poblano & chipotle sandwich w/ bacon. Small portion. Almost thought they forgot to add bacon but I found a couple bits underneath all the sauce 🙄 Flavor was good, but definitely felt belly robbed.

Spinning J is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Dinah is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Great old school sodas and apple pie. Must come back. 10/10.

Cafe
Floriole Cafe & Bakery is a bright and sleek establishment in Lincoln Park that offers a variety of European-style pastries and lunch options. Since reopening, they have been serving fan favorites like Basque Cakes, Buckwheat Scones, quiche, and croissants. They have recently added Eggnog Caneles, Stollen, and an enticing Gingersnap Lime pie to their menu for the holiday season.
This café was packed on a gorgeous Saturday , and the staff handled the rush like pros—friendly, efficient, and keeping things moving smoothly. Lots of seats on Dec floor with restroom!! Everything on the menu looked amazing, especially the sweets. Quiche is the best and love the carrot cake they offered. Great coffee where is from my favorite coffee bean roastery, Metric! It’s clear why this place is so popular.
Heather J — Google review
Very good bakery! Love how spacious the second floor is! They have very good ham and cheese croissants, strawberries shortcakes! Especially should try their early gray tea lattee! It is delicious
Nancy S — Google review
GREAT variety of rare and not that rare pastries. Kiddo friendly place, close to a park and yoga stuff. The quiche is missing some flavor, the pastries are good looking, outstanding presentation, perhaps that is why the flavor is a bit dissatisfied, imo. Few coffees options, would like to see they adventure to mix drinks and pastries like a pastry late or doughnut coffee shake. Service is good and fast.
Cristian H — Google review
A must-visit if you’re in Lincoln Park, their menu is constantly rotating depending on what’s in season. The onion marmalade & sweet potato danish is my favorite, the honey pecan sticky bun is a close second.
Claire M — Google review
A bit overpriced, but reasonably so as you can tell all pastries and bread are high quality. The canales are delectable and the perfect moist, spongey texture. The coffee was fine, but the pastries are definitely the stars. Their fresh baked sourdough is perfectly moist and dense (which I prefer). The seating areas are also perfect with a good amount of outdoor and lots of indoor!
Elysia D — Google review
beautiful cafe- lots of seating too! i wish i could give 4.5 stars bc the only thing was that i was not a fan of the coffee (and i am definitely not a coffee snob but something was just off) :/ the pastries and bread are FIRE, and there are lots of options to choose from on that end. i think the prices of the bakery items are fair for the quality but this is not your cheap coffee joint, which is fine! definitely try the ricotta toast or any seasonal items‼️‼️
Ella S — Google review
Super fun atmosphere lots of seating pastries were good but not great We got the strawberry tart, the canele, a chocolate croissant, and the kogi aman (can’t spell it) The strawberries were awesome, and the pastry came good, but the tart crust was super dry and brittle. I get that that’s the style for some of these small fruit tarts, but I never enjoy it very much. The canele was well done. But it just taste almost burnt on the outside and kind of doughy on the inside. The chocolate croissant was nothing special. The kogi aman was great! Would get it again. Super crispy on the outside buttery on the inside. If everything was as good as this one pastry, it would’ve been a five out of five for sure.
Joshua D — Google review
Bad coffee and bad hospitality. My friend and I were looking for a new coffee shop to visit. Instead of greeting us kindly and giving us some guidance on the menu, the woman at the front was being super passive aggressive at taking our order seemingly irritable and impatient even though we took like 2 seconds to order. If the coffee was decent, I would obviously say so, but to top it all off, my latte tasted like it had no coffee- just milk. Also it’s super overpriced. I would definitely consider going elsewhere

Bittersweet Pastry Shop & Cafe is a charming bakery and cafe that has been in business for 30 years and is now expanding to Pilsen. Known for its specialty cakes, cookies, breads, pastries, and other sweet treats, this European-style bakery has become a beloved fixture in the Lakeview neighborhood. The cafe offers a full menu of savory and sweet fare, but it's the elaborate cakes that steal the show.
Bittersweet did an incredible job with our wedding cake last summer! Samuel and the team was wonderful to work with. The tasting kit was fun and the flavors were all so good. We also got a beautiful cake for our 1st anniversary complimentary which was really sweet. Highly recommend Bittersweet for all of your special occasions! ❤️
Melissa — Google review
Lovely staff / great service. The place is quiet and clean with big windows for natural light. The food is high quality but maybe too inventive for my tastes? The ham and gruyere quiche was excellent! Very, very cheesy - I'd recommend getting something else carby to eat along with it. I know a light flaky crust is generally highly desirable (and it certainly was light and flaky) but in this case, I'd actually have liked a thicker crust to offset some of that cheese. Unfortunately, the almond croissant looked better than it tasted. I also had a chocolate brownie because I was looking for a chocolate boost but it fell flat as well - seemed to have some odd undertones? And I would have loved to enjoy the rich sipping chocolate with the croissant (I suspect it would have made the croissant much more of what I wanted) except the hot chocolate has citrus and spices which I wasn't looking for. If you like complex flavors and are looking for other flavors but not necessarily a chocolate fix, it's a great place.
Lewis L — Google review
We wanted a local Chicago bakery, and Bittersweet was everything we hoped for. Samuel made the entire process—from tasting to delivery—so easy and personal. We even chose his favorite flavors, which ended up being ours too! The cake was gorgeous, delicious, and will forever remind us of our special day. We can’t wait to return for more sweet treats.
Alexis W — Google review
Bittersweet Pastry Shop & Cafe is an absolute gem! The place feels charming and welcoming from the moment you walk in. Their pastries are beautifully made — fresh, light, and full of flavor. I especially love their cakes and coffee; everything tastes like it’s made with real care and high-quality ingredients. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a quiet morning or catch up with friends over something sweet. Definitely one of my favorite cafes in the city!
ARI K — Google review
We did wedding cake tastings with multiple bakeries, but Bittersweet’s quality blew the competition out of the water. All of the cakes, frostings, and fillings we tried were delicious, and the ones we chose for our cake came together perfectly! The cake was decorated beautifully and tasted amazing. If you want a custom cake that’s a step above the rest, look no further than Bittersweet.
Kathy K — Google review
If possible, I would give it zero stars. I used to come here often to buy almond croissants and coffee. These two days are my friend's birthday. I plan to order a cake to attend her birthday. I first bought a piece to taste it, and then I plan to customize a 6-inch cake. I was so surprised that this cake is actually hard, as hard as a piece of bread that has been kept for a week. I can't even stick my fork in 😅Aren't your dessert cakes made on the same day? Learn from other bakeries. Sell the $20 surprise packages that don't sell out on the same day to others or give them to those who are hungry and in need of help, instead of freezing them in the fridge and selling them to customers. Can you imagine a birthday cake where the cake is as hard as bread and the cream is as hard as butter? I'm really speechless and so disappointed🥲
Candice Z — Google review
I placed an order for delivery — and oh boy, did you deliver! My very poorly planned surprise almost didn’t make it to the recipient, but your efforts went above and beyond my expectations. It wasn’t your fault she wasn’t home, yet you made sure the package was safely left at her door. In the end, my friend received the package — and your out-of-this-world baked goods! Because of your goodies, her worries melted away for a while. Thank you for turning my last-minute surprise into something truly special.
Kasia G — Google review
When I moved here almost twenty years ago, this was one of the best bakeries in the city. My girlfriends and I would stop in here for a treat or to have lunch at the cafe. Over the years, things have changed but I felt the quality remain the same. That is until I visited today. I am absolutely shocked at how average the baked goods are now. The croissants all tasted stale and lacked the rich, buttery flavor a croissant should have. Also, a plain croissant cost over $6. I understand that quality baked goods can be very expensive but paying over $6 for a mediocre, stale tasting croissant is outrageous. It really makes me question if there's a pastry chef at all. If you go into the cafe expecting that you will have an average and expensive treat in a cute and sunny space, you will be happy. If you expect a high quality baked good at a reasonable price or anything like the old Bittersweet, you will be sorely disappointed.

Pie shop
Barangaroos Aussie Pies is a family-owned establishment that has been serving the Chicago area since 2013. It offers both dine-in and takeout options, making it a local favorite. Customers rave about the exceptional brunch offerings, particularly the quiche with its fresh and expertly prepared ingredients and flaky crust. The shepherd's pie is highly recommended for lunch, with its rich savory filling and perfectly flaky crust.
I HAD to try these meat pies when I walked past this shop, and I'm so glad I did! The crust was perfect and flaky, the filling was savory and flavorful. Keep up the great work!
Maddie H — Google review
First time dinner. The pie was amazing. Flaky butter crust, it's almost like a Croissant. I also ordered the spinach soup, expecting a tomato base. But it was green and looked unappealing. Don't let the looks fool you. It's Great. The taste is phenomenal. Try it.
James D — Google review
Fantastic food! I'm always skeptical about pies on general as the crust is often hit or miss - often having a rancid flavor due to iffy oils. But the crust here is amazing. We had the shepherd's pie, the peppered steak and mushroom, and the tikka masala. They were all great. Highly recommended!
Olga J — Google review
Fast, polite window service for a unique lunch experience. I went here for lunch today and got the shepherd's pie and macaroni. The shepherd's pie was as good as any homemade version with a little bit of spice to it. The crust tastes like it was made just this morning, and was incredibly flaky and delicious. I wish it was a little colder out because this is a DEFINITE must for a chilly day. I think they would do an incredible twice baked macaroni pie but not sure if that's authentic to Aussie cuisine. Also kind of wish they had kangaroo meat.
Ian M — Google review
What a random place that I did not know existed until I searched for it. I am however a random lunch kind of person after service on Sundays I search random items to lunch on. Today's topic was "pot pies" near me. Now I didn't have a clue as to what an Aussie Pie was so the less I knew the better. Low and behold the Aussie Pie indeed was a literal handheld pot pie thing of flavor. Sure you hold most food with your hands but this pie was shaped like a whole pie but smaller held like a Danish if you will and eaten as such. Yes the flaky crisp outer layer crumbled a bit but no worries the crust itself is of such fortitude that only the last bite becomes questionable because they are so packed with fillings that it becomes an issue. A tasty issue.
José N — Google review
this restaurant is just amazing. I have never tried Australian food before and this is the first time I’m trying from here and it’s just awesome. I took their chicken, curry pies and chicken and mushroom pies. They’re also very professional because they were supposed to send me a packet of chips, which was not available so instead they sent mashed potatoes which was wholesome.
Sayak C — Google review
I love any kind of meat pie so when I heard about Aussie Pies, I had to check it out. I bought 3- shepard’s pie, chicken tikka masala and steak & potatoes. The only one available immediately was the shepard’s pie and it was about a 15-30 minutes wait for the others. I was fine with the wait so I decided to eat the shepard’s pie, but turns out it was actually the curried beef & potatoes. I was not a big fan of the curried beef & potatoes, it was kinda spicy & I don’t eat spicy. I did try the chicken tikka masala and that’s very tasty. The crust is so good. I ended getting the other pies frozen. It’s really good if you throw it in the air fryer.
Denise L — Google review
I got the chicken tika masala and unreal Shepard's. I thought I could finish both pies but it's a lot of food. The chicken tika masala was excellent. The unreal Shepherd's pie does taste like the real thing! Had the Aussie sodas guava is tasty!

French Quiche is a must-try at Chez Moi, a casual cafe in Lincoln Park, Chicago. The menu offers various quiche options, including spring pea and Swiss quiche as well as a lobster quiche. The cafe also serves flatbread, crepes, and other French delights. Visitors praise the reasonably priced dishes and charming interior with an adorable courtyard. Guests enjoyed the savory and filling quiches along with perfectly flaky croissants.
I really enjoyed the brunch experience here. The place is spacious, and the staff are very friendly. The most importance - food is very tasty. I got a cup of latte, combo(sandwich with a onion soup). I really like the soup with cheese inside. Also, you don’t want to miss the dessert, crepe is the best in Chic town.

This is my favorite neighborhood place. The asparagus and mushroom quiche is delicious. I also recommend the vegetarian sandwich. You can get non-dairy espresso drinks there too. The courtyard in the back is perfect to enjoy a true French ambiance. I highly recommend!

Simply perfection! One of the best locations in Chicago to grab an excellent breakfast/lunch. Selections of freshly made foods make it difficult to choose. I however choose a slice of quiche and an almond croissant. The quiche is amazingly creamy and fluffy. The first bite was the wow moment, so delicious. Make sure this is your next destination.
Rodney Y — Google review
I went the day after they opened. The food was beautiful AND delicious. They have 4 salads, 4 flatbreads, 4 sandwiches, 4 quiches, and 4 desserts from which to choose. They also serve Big Shoulders coffee and other coffee/tea drinks, as well as croissants, breads, and more. It took a long time to narrow down my first selection. I got the Parisienne Quiche and the Mediterranean salad (which I put on a bed of spring lettuce when I got home). The salad was delicately, but perfectly seasoned; the quiche was fluffy and dense with flavor. The chef/owner (who is also the chef of Chez Moi down the block) was there to greet everyone and the staff was friendly and competent. When the world is more "normal," I'd love to linger longer; but in the mean time, it's great for delicious takeout and coffee. Overall, prices are reasonable, quality is high, and worth checking out.

Super cute back patio and delicious French pastries! What a great addition to the neighborhood. The service was super welcoming too.

Great French food. Beautifully decorated. Perfect tasting croissants
Martha M — Google review
Okay: will try again at some point. Their crepes tasted overall good, but did not seem like they make the actual crepe fresh when ordered, rather just warm up and fill them. The lattes that I ordered were pretty bad, I think due to the lack of employees knowledge of how to make them (based on my observation). There is a nice patio, and inside is nice. Was hoping to really like the place but my experience fell short of great.
S. D — Google review
Very good and tasty quiche! Coffee was average, too watered down and tasted more like milk than coffee. The employees treated me like I was a strange person and didn't greet me as they did other people that walked in after me. I am a person of color and the other people who walked in after me were not. Definitely felt a bit of discrimination. It might be due to the neighborhood. Food was great, the service is lacking. Next time I'm around, I'll order a quiche to go and eat it somewhere else.

Wine bar
Avec Restaurant, located in West Loop, has been a popular spot since its opening in 2003. The cozy and minimalist space offers communal seating and a forward-thinking wine list. One of their standout dishes is the juicy medjool date wrapped in bacon and served with piquillo pepper tomato sauce. Inspired by the sun-drenched wine regions of Southwestern Europe, Avec offers creative sharing plates paired with a carefully-selected fresh wine list featuring options from across Europe.
I've heard so much abt avec that I decided to give it a try. I was a bit surprised at how small(?) the restaurant is. I realized the pics I've seen of the restaurant was the river north location. Overall, we enjoyed the food. Our favorite was the dip with kale. They didn't have pizza on the menu (maybe it's only avail at dinner time?) Our server recommended the dates which I usually LOVE and always order whenever I see them on the menu, but the bacon wrapped dates here were a bit too salty. Btw, their seats are really uncomfortable. I think they seat you at the bar(?) area if you're a party of 2, but we asked for a table area.
Caitlyn L — Google review
The atmosphere at avec is warm and inviting, with a lively but comfortable energy. The menu focuses on Mediterranean-inspired small plates, and everything we tried was fresh and full of flavor. The wine list has plenty of great options that pair nicely with the food. Service was friendly and attentive without feeling rushed. It’s a great place to relax, share dishes, and enjoy a meal with friends.

First time here and the food left an impression! Met up with some friends and the atmosphere was chill, unpretentious. The food was so flavorful and vibrant. Everything was a 10/10. Also the lemonade was great! Also excellent tea selection.
Chelsea M — Google review
What an amazing treat! Enjoyed my evening at avec. Often times when I have to travel for business, I am treated as less than and only marginally cared for. Not the case at Avec! Everybody from the people tending to the water to the waiter to the manager, treated me as a guest and with amazing care! The food Outstanding and unique! The only problem is that I wish I had a larger stomach to try more of what was on the menu. If I return to Chicago, I plan to bring my wife and anyone I travel with.

Hands down the best meal we had in Chicago. The hummus with peas and sumac was amazing, so smooth and flavorful and the pita was so fresh. I had no idea what to expect from the chorizo stuffed dates but they were delicious and the tomato sauce with crusty bread made it even better. We also got the shawarma chicken, so juicy and well seasoned. It was a lot of food for 2 people, but the happy hour is great value. $10 carafinas of wine too!
Mads M — Google review
Came here for a late night snack / second dinner for just the bacon wrapped, chorizo stuffed dates and they didn't disappoint. I will say, they're pretty sizeable and very filling. My only qualms of this restaurant is that it's a pretty small space and felt like they packed us in like sardines. We were seated at the same table with a group of 7 people celebrating a birthday and it made us feel like we shouldn't have been there. The noise level is also pretty loud as well.
Becky T — Google review
We keep getting drawn back to Avec in each visit to Chicago. It’s just so good. After a late lunch we weren’t too hungry but got the shrimp , hummus, steak and cabbage. Shrimp is so good. Make sure you grab all the deliciousness sitting under the sea of butter. Scrape it off the bottom of the cast iron and dump it into the shrimp or bread. You will love it. The anchovy butter on the steak is equally as delicious and I mopped every scrap of it off the plate. The cabbage was something I wouldn’t normally order but I wanted to see why someone might. What a fantastic dish. Perfect balance of flavors and textures and the rice pilaf under it could be a dish on its own I might even sneak back today for it. Well done team Avec. Will see you again.
Anthony D — Google review
We came here for dinner, and overall had a good meal. We ordered the prawns and chorizo stuffed dates for small plates, the deluxe focaccia and chicken shawarma for large plates, and the short rib hummus. Although the chicken shawarma was tender and juicy, it was definitely overpriced. However, the rest of the food was good. Our favorites were the chorizo stuffed dates and the short rib hummus. Overall a nice meal!

Breakfast restaurant
Brunch restaurant
Ann Sather Restaurant is a long-standing Scandinavian-inspired diner in Chicago, known for its hearty Swedish-American breakfast and lunch options. The menu features traditional Swedish pancakes and meatballs, as well as trendy offerings like breakfast crab cakes and smoked salmon. The restaurant's generous portion sizes and attentive wait staff make it a popular spot for brunch in the Boystown neighborhood. However, the real highlight is their famous cinnamon rolls, which are highly recommended by visitors.
I stumbled upon this charming local Swedish restaurant completely by chance—and I’m so glad I did. Despite a short visit, I was thoroughly impressed. The Swedish coffee was outstanding, served in a large glass with cream, and absolutely hit the spot. For breakfast, I had the Turkey Gobbler wrap, filled with turkey, guacamole, and spinach—a delicious and healthy way to start the day. It was served alongside an array of freshly baked muffins and cinnamon rolls, which were irresistible. I absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back next time I’m in Chicago.

Incredible food and super-fast service in a typical diner atmosphere. Despite being packed at 11 AM on Columbus Day, food came out lightning fast. Cinnamon rolls are out-of-this-world delicious, live up to the hype and couldn't possibly be any better! Hot biscuits with honey and strawberry-orange-banana juice are on point as well. French Toast Fantasy and Southern Decadence are particularly outstanding, sausage and gravy are perfectly savory and salty.
Roger H — Google review
We loved this Swedish inspired breakfast restaurant. The service was excellent and food delicious. We went on a Monday morning and it was busy with a great atmosphere. The portions were substantial- especially the two cinnamon rolls, which came as a side, they were yummy but we still couldn’t finish them!
Sarah — Google review
Cinnamon rolls are definitely legit here! I had the Mexican omelette. It was good, but not spectacular. Our server made a great recommendation to have it made with chorizo and pepper jack cheese. They were also very generous with the avocado slices in it. My wife tried the swedish sampler. She didn't really care much for the pancake or the sausage, but she really liked the meatball. The hash brown potatoes were pretty good. We also tried the SOB juice, and we both enjoyed that. All of the servers were very attentive and pleasant.
Philip S — Google review
Super busy and popular, you can't go wrong with getting their cinnamon rolls either as a side or separately. It's pretty loud inside, so it might be a little off putting, but it's easier to ignore once the food arrives. The egg options are plentiful. I highly recommend getting the cinnamon rolls as one of the sides of you want to get the most food per each dollar or if you're craving a sweet treat.

First time visitor. Stopped in during a lengthy bike ride. Seated right away. Friendly and prompt service. A very nice variety on the menu . The fresh biscuits were Delicious! The cinnamon rolls were delicious! I am not in that area very often. However I would go out of my way to go again. Recommended? YES

A big bowl of chili is so comforting even in the hot summer sun. What makes a bowl of chili better is cinnamon rolls. The combination is almost magical. I had a hard time figuring out the right choice to order. But with a little assistance from the staff they were 100% spot on with my choice. The restaurant has a great vibe which allows for a nice relaxing meal time. The staff is awesome. Come in for a little taste of home while on vacation or on a work trip.

Bistro
Nestled in the heart of Lincoln Park, Chez Moi is a charming bistro that transports you straight to France with its delightful ambiance and traditional cuisine. The name "Chez Moi," meaning "home," perfectly encapsulates the warm, inviting atmosphere created by Chef Dominique Tougne, who brings his Alsatian roots to life through classic French dishes.
Overall: A fantastic French dining experience without being over-the-top classy, a great option for date night or to impress. The good: Came here for a private event with a free 4-course meal along with wine pairings. The menu was fantastic. The pear salad was a perfect combo of sweet and creamy/savory with bleu cheese. The scallops were my favorite, drizzled with honey and a buttery polenta - a perfect combo. The lamb shank was also top notch, super tender and falling off the bone. The service was very friendly as was the main chef, who gave an intro and outro speech. The not-so-good: The private room we were in was pretty cramped. The gateau breton was a little lackluster compared to all of the other magnificent courses, but it was still great. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Food: 9/10

I walked past this restaurant one day and was surprised I never heard of it before. It has to be one of the best meals I have had in Chicago and it so reminds me of eating out in France except the staff doesn't speak French. Delightful menu, very nice portions and service and truly delicious bread! We were thrilled with everything and the prices were very good. I can't wait to go back.

Recommended for a good quality restaurant experience at a reasonable cost. Location: the dining room is nicely decorated and warm. Friendly service. Price: the price-quality ratio is reasonable, we spent $140 in two people ordering 2 appetizers, 2 entrée, and 2 desserts. Food: We loved the beef bourguignon and the onion soup. The frog legs were chewy, the duck was served with too much sauce that made the overall flavor off balance and overly sweet. Thumbs up to the desserts (profiterole and crème brulée).
Emanuele G — Google review
Went here hoping for good French food and wasn't disappointed. The vibe of the restaurant is very French and the food was great. We ordered the cheese plate, carb cake, french toast and croissants. Everything was delicious, even the fries that came with the crab cake were on point (golden crispy on the outside and soft on the inside). The flavors are subtle and mixed well and the drinks were fresh. Kudos to the chef.
Adnan B — Google review
Moules were excellent, I can’t get enough of the broth. The quiche lorraine was so light and fluffy but tended to be dull after a few bites. It could have been complemented with the tanginess of the salad but it fell short of any dressing and was wilted, you can see from the photo. I was also charged for the hot water I asked for. They put tea in the tab but I only asked for hot water to calm my throat. The staff was nice but I believe I could have a better experience.
Chintot — Google review
As a date spot, Chez Moi is not bad. The ambience is there for a romantic setting, but I did find that it was a bit too dark inside. I went on a Tuesday evening and it was very quiet with only 3 other tables sat besides me. I had a reservation and was sat quickly. I got the foie gras (not pictured), special of the day which was Chilean sea bass, and the apple tart. The portions were bigger than I thought they would be, and the flavors were well done. The sea bass was tender and had a clean and fresh taste; I just wished that the fish to vegetable ratio was adjusted. For the three dishes I got, I noticed that they seemed overly sauced and so it felt soupy and messy. Service was friendly and attentive.

5 on 5.I only have praises for this place.I had been meaning to eat here and finally went to celebrate my birthday. This place is a little heavier on the pocket but totally worth it.The ambiance of this place is a weird mix or relaxing and eclectic. We ordered a few items from the menu and the menu from the chef's special and each and every dish was cooked to perfection. The beef Wellington and the lamb shank were my favorites, closely followed by frog legs and filet mignon. Amazing service from start till end. They even surprised me with a creme Brulee , on account of my birthday and that just put the cherry on top.

Brunch restaurant
Southport Grocery and Cafe is a charming breakfast and lunch spot that also hosts occasional secret supper events. The cafe is known for its innovative dishes, such as cupcake pancakes made with gluten-free batter. It's a popular brunch destination in Lakeview, offering a diverse menu that includes items like breakfast salad and quiche of the day. In addition to its delicious meals, the cafe also operates as a grocery store, selling locally sourced goods and unique gifts.
Located in a great spot on the corner of Addison & Southport. I got the brisket & gravy. Don’t be fooled that it’s your normal biscuits and gravy because it’s far from it. This dish comes with an open biscuit with hunks of brisket on top, smothered in gravy and topped with two over easy eggs. If you’re not looking to take a nap immediately after, you’ll be fine getting the half portion. I was only able to eat half and took the rest home with me. It was so good! They have indoor and outdoor seating. A lot of smaller tables if you’re dining solo like I was that morning. Staff is also really friendly.
Adam H — Google review
Spent a nice weekend morning walking around Southport and finally stopped in here to try and it was delicious. Nice casual vibes inside, and there was a fun selection of all kinds of jams, sauces, and other fun baking items for purchase. The breakfast we got was also delicious, with the breakfast sandwich being as tasty as can be and the bread pudding pancakes being a perfect savory bite to share. The sausage on the sandwich was delicious and it was light but filling. The bread pudding pancakes were so good but just note, they are a little dense. Maybe more cake-like compared to standard pancakes. But definitely worth getting. Really looking forward to going back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Southport Grocery and Cafe is a gem! 💎 I absolutely loved the cozy vibe and friendly staff. 😄 The brunch menu is mouthwatering — the Bread Pudding Pancakes 🥞 are a must-try! So fluffy and delicious! The Cappuccino ☕️ was spot on, and the freshly made sandwiches 🥪 made it even better. Perfect spot for a casual catch-up or a weekend treat. Will definitely be back! 👏 Highly recommend!

Stopped by Southport Grocery and Cafe for brunch after hearing all the hype. The place has a cute vibe, but man, it gets packed—had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. Ordered the famous bread pudding pancakes and the brisket & gravy. Pancakes were solid but didn't quite live up to the buzz, and the brisket was tasty but kinda on the small side. With a coffee and tip, dropped around $25. Service was friendly but slow, probably 'cause they were slammed. Overall, decent spot, but not sure it's worth the long wait.
Melody H — Google review
Gluten free cupcake pancakes are great! Chorizo and eggs were also excellent. The cortado was a nice way to start the meal. Parking on Southport can be difficult but lucked out and there was a spot right in front of the restaurant. Picked up some marshmallows on the way out. If you like marshmallows stop by and pick some up.

Went on a Sunday, sat right away (group of 2). Service is quick, seating is a little tight, but the food is high quality and pricing is fair. The pancakes are exceptional. Order the breakfast sandwich if you don’t know what to get!
Joshua D — Google review
Just went for the first time and really enjoyed the food and service. Our waiter was very helpful and lovely. We had some questions and she knew all about the dishes, which isn’t often the case. Her recommendations were also good. I was a big fan of the gooey and delicious, low key sweetness of the bread pudding pancakes. The grilled corn and cheese sandwich was a standout. Think of creamy elotes in sandwich form. Really creamy and flavorful. The red potato mash is very sour cream and chive forward and I found it delicious. My quiche was a little lacking in flavor, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that. But it’s a big portion which some might appreciate.

I had one of the best brunches of my life here! The bottomless coffee was amazing, and all of the house made food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the bread pudding pancakes or at least the side of one.

I absolutely love this place. My boyfriend and I have been a few times. The food is phenomenal and the portions are a great size to leave you satisfied. We ordered ahead once and because Sultan was slightly behind on having our order ready at the estimated time we were provided, they apologized greatly as well as provided us with free baklava (which was AMAZING) and drinks. The kind gesture really touched my boyfriend and I. We will absolutely be back to support Sultan’s. We appreciate their great quality in food and wonderful customer service. Thank you!

I ordered lamb shawarma and spinach zaater. Shawarma was good but it could use some less sides and more meat. However, the zaater was cold and hard. If it was old they should have atleasted heated it. The atmosphere was good and I got the food fast. My order was to go.

The atmosphere here is wonderful, and just screams cozy English pub. Our server was also great tonight and we never felt ignored or left wanting. But the food, god damn the food here is amazing. We split a scotch egg and curry wurst with the table, and both had great flavor. My only critique would be I wish there was more sauce on the fries. We finished with the Steak and Ale pie, crowned with mash and gravy, and it was just divine. Love that they have a beer selection from the UK as well. Can't wait to come back again.

This place is lovely. I’ve been wanting to go for years and recently my sister and brother in law came from Wales so this was the perfect time. Food is excellent, I had the full English and it was spot on. Only thing missing was fried bread and the black pudding could have been bigger. The freshly brewed tea was delicious. My brother in law got the steak and ale pie with the mashed topper and he loved it. Wife Had the croque madame and she loved it. The other guests had French toast and they also loved their food. Definitely going back.

A pub with a bit of true British flair. We stopped in for brunch/lunch as we awaited our bike repair across the street. The atmosphere was charming & buzzing with people. What we had: - Blueberry French Toast (good) - Pub Burger (yes, please) - Chicken Royal Pie (good, but when I think of curry spices I like a stronger flavor profile & maybe even a little spice) All of the dishes were good, and we would recommend them.

Very British eats. Had the steak and ale pie which I crowned, thats mash potatoes and gravy on the top of it. Over it was great. Prices were 12-15$ an entree. They have many beers on tap that change from time to time.

The atmosphere here is absolutely wonderful and immediately gives off the charm of a cozy English pub, making it feel warm and inviting from the moment you step in. The service is just as impressive—our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we never felt ignored or waiting for too long. But the true highlight is the food—absolutely phenomenal. This spot nails a Chicago-inspired twist on the classic English gastropub, offering savory pies that are rich, hearty, and bursting with flavor. We greatly enjoyed the large bag of fortune cookies - $8! There was a tall table next to the front window, no stools, if you want to have a quick bite before leaving.

Always amazing and consistent quality here. They are cash only but there is an ATM inside. Our favorites are the strawberry sponge cake and the egg tarts. They also have a variety of frozen buns that are really good to steam or even air fry at home.

It smells like bathroom/sewage in there I don’t know why. When you go in the first door your nose gets assaulted. I had to stand a couple minutes in between doors to see if I should eat from a place that has a dirty smell… That said,my curiosity about the xiopao won and so I bought a pack of 6 from the fridge. The dough is a tad stiff but the inside tastes good. The worst part? I’ll show you in photo… never again.

Chiu Quon is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Matthew is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Great bbq buns. Must come back. 10/10.

Finally got to check out the famous Chiu Quon Bakery! Since we already had lunch plans, we tried to keep it minimal. This is what we tried: BBQ Pork Bun, Egg Tart, Egg Custard Melon Pan Bun, and Sticky Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf. Everything was sooo good. One thing we wanted, but was sold out, is the shu mai! I gotta come back for that cuz that seems to be a hit here. This spot has no seating, but has this standing bar area against the front window, and it was perfect to eat your bakery goods here. The service was quick and efficient, just how I needed it to be.

Easily the best bakery in Chinatown. So tasty and worth more than its value. Just bring cash with you! I’ve gone too many times and never taken photos, it’s all about enjoying it in the moment.

Ann Sather Restaurant & Catering is a beloved spot known for its hearty Swedish-American breakfast and lunch options. The quiche is a standout dish, praised for its freshness and high-quality ingredients. The veggie florentine benedict is a favorite choice for those craving more veggies in their meal. Despite the slightly cramped atmosphere, the excellent service and generous portion sizes make up for it.
Wow. The cage looks basic but the flavors are so much more. The Swedish sampler was more than expected, the pancakes and sausage, swedish meatball, and lingonberry sauce was excellent. My plate was the 2 eggs and meatballs. The Sweet potato coconut muffin was excellent and even my no veggie husband wanted more. Portions are large so keep that in mind when ordering. Loved it!

A bustling brunch spot known for its massive, hearty cinnamon rolls - they come as sides but could easily be a meal on their own! I had the V4 omelet, packed with veggies and topped with melty cheese, while the bacon cheddar potato pancake was rich and tasty, if a bit on the oily side. A cozy neighborhood staple that always delivers a satisfying brunch experience.

It was truly delicious. The coffee was stimulating yet mellow. The fresh vegetable omelette was elevated with Asiago cheese. The fresh fruit was not just grapes but watermelon, pineapple, blueberries, cantaloupe, raspberries and honeydew. Service good.Pricing worth every penny. Decor a little tight but light filled. No off street parking minus one star. Definitely a destination stop. AWARDED 2.5 YUMS ON A SCALE OF 3

Have only been once but was EXTREMELY impressed by the quality of the food and the fast and friendly service. The menu has a lot of choices and I completely overlooked the separate card on the table with the extra specials. No matter, the steak and eggs were great (3 thick, tender slabs), OJ was fresh, and side options were great. I went with the tomatoes slices and the cottage cheese. My wife loved the cinnamon rolls and breakfast wrap. Unfortunately I'm just visiting from the SF Bat Area but will recommend this place to my niece who just moved here.

This place had such good reviews so I decided to order take out. I ordered a corned beef hash and I was completely shocked when I got home. What a pathetic portion. I ordered an ENTREE not a SIDE. Can anyone please explain to me how this is $17 dollars worth of food? This place is pathetic.

They say the cinnamon rolls are to die for I just thought they were normal. Everything else seems like an average breakfast place. There is a special jelly people love on the pancakes I was not a fan but some people will die to have some. Servers were always kind and helpful.

Nestled in the vibrant Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, Maison Marcel is a delightful café and bakery that brings a touch of France to the Windy City. This charming spot specializes in organic French-American cuisine, featuring house-baked breads and an array of delectable pastries crafted by talented baker Arnaud Brochard. From flaky croissants to buttery brioche and mouthwatering apple tartes, every bite is a celebration of locally sourced ingredients infused with French flair.
Maison Marcel is not just a coffee shop, it’s a little oasis of inspiration. Inside you’ll find plenty of natural light, greenery, and thoughtful details — from wicker chairs and cozy sofas to vintage décor elements. The atmosphere makes it perfect both for a slow breakfast and for working on your laptop with a cup of coffee The coffee is rich and well-balanced, and the pastries are fresh and delicious. I especially recommend the Almond-Pumpkin Croissant — it was incredibly fresh, soft, with a touch of cinnamon and a smooth pumpkin filling. They also offer sugar-free options, which was a pleasant surprise What I loved most is the harmony of the space: the light, the natural elements, and the calm background music. It’s a place you want to come back to, not only for the coffee but also for the inspiration it gives

Maison Marcel is a cozy breakfast/brunch gem in Chicago. My family and I recently visited for brunch, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The vibe is laid back and comfortable—honestly, it felt more like hanging out at a friend’s home than at a restaurant. The décor is charming and inviting, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. I started my brunch with a caramel latte made with Lavazza coffee, which was deliciously smooth and perfectly balanced. For my main dish, I had an omelette that was fresh and flavorful—definitely a great choice. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, and the menu wasn’t extensive but there were good options. The service was excellent as well. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. For five people, our bill came to $147, which felt reasonable given the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with great coffee, tasty food, and a welcoming vibe, Maison Marcel is definitely worth a visit!

Very great vibes, but we waited longer than average for what we ordered. My friend loves her quiche, we love the pastry, but I’m not super satisfied with the Benedict eggs. I felt it too greasy but no other tastes. Less butter and a bit more salt should help.

I loved the french music and the vibes of the restaurant overall. Super cozy seating options. Seems like a great place to work from. The food was good, nothing spectacular. The quiche was good, the salad was super fresh and I loved the dressing that came on it. The bread could have used more butter and jam. Disappointing that the pistachio latte was out of stock, it looked great!

Maison Marcel on Broadway in North Chicago is such a charming gem! From the moment you walk in, the cozy French-inspired atmosphere and beautiful décor make you feel like you’ve stepped right into a Parisian café. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared—everything from their pastries to their brunch plates feels fresh and full of flavor. Their croissants are perfectly flaky, the coffee is rich and smooth, and the presentation of each dish is stunning. It’s the kind of place where you can linger, enjoy a slow breakfast, or catch up with friends over a latte and something sweet. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick pastry or a full brunch, Maison Marcel on Broadway delivers both quality and atmosphere. Definitely one of the best spots in Chicago for a taste of France!

I had some time before a doctor's appointment and went to Masion Marcel (I had to look it up it roughly translated to Marcel House). I got a coffee and the Cheesecake. I choose a table with a couch on one side; it was comfortable and supportive. The decor is shabby chic. I returned with my husband next week and had a meal. This time we sat at the fireplace, and it looks quaint, but the hearth really made it difficult to sit back. Our server was great and helped me with the pronunciation. I had the Croque Madame (I saw the Croque Monsieur on Food Network- it is a Gruyere cheese and ham sandwich in a bechamel and cooked under the broiler. I do not know if they use the same method. The Croque Madame is the same with a fried egg on top. The Masion Marcel version did differ here as it was a scrambled egg inside the sandwich. Masion Marcel might be doing it the traditional way and I just saw it with the fried egg.) I had a Nutella latte, for me it was not worth the extra calories. The regular Americano was equally enjoyable. My husband had the matching latte and said it was excellent. He had the Maple Bacon sandwich with egg. Each entrée came with a mixed green salad in a wonderful citrus vinaigrette. Coming back for the Tea for Two or the daily Quiche. It looks like there is parking lot that I will be checking out as well.

Restaurant
Kasama is a laid-back eatery that offers a mix of French-American pastries and contemporary Filipino cuisine. The restaurant, founded by Chicago chefs Genie Kwon and Tim Flores, features a stylish yet welcoming space with an open kitchen and spacious outdoor patios. The menu boasts flavorful dishes such as house-made Filipino sausage with garlic rice, fried egg, and pickled papaya, as well as creative pastries like ube and huckleberry Basque cake.
so good and 100% worth the wait! we got there at 8:20 or so (we walked there) and there was already a line so i’d recommend not getting there any later. by the time we sat down it was 9:30. i had the meatloaf and my husband had the chicken adobo, both were super flavorful and delicious. we also tried the ube and sesame lattes which were super yummy. the sesame latte was bold, and the ube leaned sweet. we also tried their breakfast sandwiches, one with sausage, egg, and cheese and the other with hashbrowns, egg, and cheese. both were amazing. the egg is thick, cheese is melty, and sausage/hashbrowns were salty and delicious. we of course also grabbed a box of pastries to enjoy later. everyone was kind and overall we had a wonderful experience. we don’t have other filipino spots to compare it to as this was our first time trying it, but we’re big foodies and it hit all the markers for us. we spent ~$150 in total.
Isabel F — Google review
In my opinion Kasama is overrated. There were some good, some ok and some not so great. We order the chicken adobo, filipino breakfast, breakfast sandwich, and 3 drinks with totaled to ~96. The chicken adobo was the crowd pleaser. The chicken was juicy, the coconut crust added some sweetness and was balanced. The filipino breakfast was fine. There wasn’t a WOW factor. The breakfast sandwich was SALTY. I had to pass it off because it was too salty and all the components were too soft. The ube coconut latte was good but i wished there was more ube and coconut flavor. We got there at 9am on a Wednesday and waited 50 mins to be seated. I would say get takeout next time if you want to try. But the price and wait time makes this restaurant overhyped to me.
Bonnie — Google review
Got there at 8 AM on a Wednesday in October and were first in line, a few others started showing up around 8:30-8:45. They let one party in at a time to order and then sit, and we were in a hurry so it was nice being first, seemed like a slow process with parties ordering things one at a time, but necessary for organization. "Oh Hot Yam", "Maiz con Leche", and Coconut Cortadito were all excellent - Ube and coconut flavor are strong in the "Yam", corn strong in the "Maiz", and cortadito is a generally strong coffee drink. Filipino breakfast combo is great, loved the garlic rice and savory and unique longanisa sausage and tocino. Breakfast sandwich lives up to the hype! Super delicious with pillowy egg, soft potato(?) roll, and savory cheese and longanisa! Side hash brown was good as well. And then the pastries! Ube and huckleberry Basque cake is outstanding, particularly love the firm crust contrasting with the softer middle. Best Oatmeal Cream Pie you'll ever have, and Banana Tart was mind-blowing as well! Ube and coconut Ensaymada rocks as well, loved the filling!
Roger H — Google review
One of our favorite breakfast spots in Chicago! Our regular orders are the Filipino breakfast with longanisa and tocino, and the breakfast sandwich with longanisa, egg, and cheese, so flavorful and comforting. The Black Truffle Croissant alone is worth the trip, it truly sets the bar for all pastries. 🤌 The Banana Tart had the perfect texture and sweetness, we even ordered it in large format. Every visit reminds us why Kasama is in a league of its own. 🩵✨🙌

The number one spot for Filipino Cuisine! You need to be there before they open, we got there 10 mins before and there was a small line. They close dinner for reservations only! As a half Filipino, I felt very welcomed. The atmosphere was homey and I recognize all the food options! I had a Calamansi mimosa, as well as the Ube Cappuccino. Both very delicious! I had Chicken adobo, very unique flavoring and the rice was so good! It felt like sushi rice but without the fish flavoring. Had a takeout of a bread with a protein on top, it was so good! My friend had the Filipino breakfast and all aspects of it were delicious! You would never expect this to be a 3 ⭐️ Michelin restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised.
Cen — Google review
Went for the breakfast sandwich Syd had The Bear and it did not disappoint! The patty was super flavorful and the texture of it with the egg and hash brown was divine! Brought a few bakery items home and we loved them too. Prepare to wait a while in line and the inside decor is quaint. I only took off a star since they gave us the sandwiches wrapped to go as we were seated rather than as a seared dining experience with silverware. Otherwise, would go back but likely order to go.
Sharese K — Google review
Came for for the famous longanisa breakfast sandwich and you know what? It was worth the hype. The texture and sweetness of the longanisa paired beautifully in this with the other ingredients. I’d recommend adding a hash brown to it to finish round off the flavours. We also sampled a black truffle croissant that was PHENOMENAL. HIGHLY recommend this. The ube huckleberry tart was well made but just okay, tasted more of the berry than ube. I mean, it was still really good and I ate the whole thing. Drinks were yummy and not too sweet, we got the iced oh hot yam and iced black sesame lattes. I hate lines and avoid them at all costs. If you’re the same, I’d recommend ordering on the app when they open for takeout. You get to skip the long line outside that’s waiting for dine-in and go to the front right away.

My favorite food & dining experience while in Chicago. Phenomenal cafe in the morning. Took about 40 minutes to get in, but it was well worth the wait. Whoever thought to put peanut butter in jelly in-between two Oatmeal raisin cookies is a genius. It was my favorite item. The pork adobo and garlic rice had my whole table upset they also didn't order one. The maiz con leche was super unique and I could have drank a gallon of that. I want to get back here as soon as possible.

Southern France Patisserie is a delightful place where every pastry and dessert is crafted with great care, evident in every delicious bite. The Lyon sandwich, featuring smoked salmon on a croissant, is a standout favorite. The owner, Amanda, ensures that the food sells out quickly due to its popularity, so it's advisable to call ahead and reserve your order. The chocolate croissant is particularly noteworthy for its crispness and flakiness paired with a rich dark chocolate ganache filling.
The best croissants I have ever had! All of the food is amazing: the Lyon sandwich (croissant with smoked salmon) is our food favorite, and all of the desserts we have tried have blown our mind (both in taste and presentation). We discovered this place in early 2022, and have been regularly coming back. Amanda the owner runs out of nearly everything by noon (or even earlier), so we call ahead (around 8 or 9 am) and ask them to set aside the food for us (this works both for takeout or dine-in).

I had made it a goal to find the best chocolate croissant in town when I moved to Chicago two years ago. This is the best one I've found so far! Upon entering I was immediately hit with the aroma of browning butter. The seating is a quaint tea-room vibe with mismatched Victorian China and chairs. The croissant was crisp and flakey while the dark chocolate ganache was soft and rich. I also had a hot cocoa that tasted like I was drinking a full cup of melted chocolate. My partner had the excellent Lyon sandwich with cream cheese, salmon and red onion on croissant. We'll be back!
Crystal L — Google review
This place is incredible. Everything is made with such care and you can really tell with every bite. Every crossaint sandwich and dessert I have tried has gone above and beyond. Customer service is great and I absolutely love that when you eat there things are served on nice plates. It's a really nice touch. Lastly, they also have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate options if you're thirsty. I recommend popping in and grabbing something earlier on. It does seem like things sell out.

Absolutely remarkable croissants. I just moved back to Chicago from France and I can confidently say that these croissants rival, if not defeat, the very best I tasted overseas. I visit way more frequently than I should and the consistency in quality is downright impressive. The coffee is yummy too :)
Elle H — Google review
Overall: If you love French-level croissants, don't let this little place pass you by! The good: As mentioned, the croissants are as good as you can find in France (or other great American bakeries). Honestly, it rivals a lot of the croissants I've had in France. Here they are buttery, flaky, well-risen, and delicious. The chocolate added a nice flavor to it as well. The service was very friendly and you can obviously tell that it's independently owned and run. The not-so-good: The atmosphere is ok; peppered with family pictures and French decor, but it needs more. It felt like it was cut and pasted into the layout of the store, and it's not that it was bad, it just needs a more home-y feeling. The water cups are tiny little dixie cups, and it made getting water during our dine-in meal rather inconvenient. And the banana loaf, while great, was a little dry and expensive for its size. Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 9/10

The first thing you're going to notice when you walk into this business is the aroma, it is so wonderful, it smells absolutely incredible in here! The next thing you're going to notice is how easy the menu is. It looks effortless, even though it was obviously curated over time with great care and precision. There are options for literally everyone. The gluten-free offerings are extensive! They are incredibly careful and gracious. If you have a food allergy, the staff is very well informed about which are the safe foods and which are not. If you are celiac, they did not make us feel in any way like an inconvenience or a problem. The food here is absolutely incredible, as are the chai drinks. We recommend this place all the time! Really hoping that this place is always here, because they never, ever disappoint.

Jennivee’s Bakery never misses! The desserts are crazy good — rich, flavorful, and beautifully made. I had a carrot cake cupcake this time, and it was absolutely delicious — moist, spiced just right, and topped with the perfect amount of frosting. Left me speechless ; and full. I ordered from this place on Uber Eats, and nothing could have prepared me for the absolute unit of a cake slice that showed up. Massive is an understatement. The Oreo cake? So freaking delicious I had to pause mid-bite and reassess my dessert priorities. It’s rich, but not too sweet, it’s the perfect balance. I’m an avid Crumbl Cookie girlie, but let me be clear: they will never see me again. 😂 Soft. Moist. Balanced. Iconic. 10/10 would recommend.

This is the second time I've come here. I ordered the Berry White with 100mg THC and 75mg CBD (sounds like a good time right). The clerk who was working last night 9/7 pm shift seemed pretty chill. Since he kindly filled my bottle up..... but I guess either this location just makes expensive fancy drinks or that dude last night didn't put anything in my drink. Bungalow by Middle Brow is a vibrant and eclectic spot that offers more than just beer. It's an all-day cafe, bakery, and pizzeria with a funky open taproom where visitors can enjoy a variety of house beers alongside delicious pub fare. The space is airy and sun-drenched, featuring reclaimed wood tables where guests can savor thick slices of housemade toast topped with creative combinations like prickly pear jelly and ricotta or pecan butter with wildflower honey.
Bungalow by Middle Brow is hands down one of the best hidden gems in Chicago—and it might just serve the best tavern-style pizza in the entire city. From the moment you walk in, the cozy, laid-back vibe feels like a warm welcome. The service was excellent—especially the bartender, who was not only friendly and attentive but incredibly knowledgeable. They offered great suggestions on what to order, even sharing a bit of the backstory behind the food. Now, let’s talk about the pizza—because this isn’t your average tavern pie. The crust is perfectly crisp with just the right amount of chew, and every topping feels intentional. You can tell there was real thought and care in how the pizzas were made. Beyond the pizza, the food in general is incredible. From small plates to entrees, everything was fresh, seasonal, and cooked with a lot of heart. You don’t always expect food at a brewery to blow you away, but Bungalow delivers way beyond expectations. Whether you’re coming for the beer, the food, or just a chill evening with friends, Bungalow by Middle Brow is a standout spot that deserves all the love. Don’t sleep on that tavern pizza—it’s seriously next level.

We called and they said it would be a 30 minute wait, but arrived 10 minutes later and there was none. This place is a few short blocks from my house and I've read favorable reviews about their pizza, beer and wine, so the lady and I finally made our move. We ordered the Hot Honey and Mushroom pizzas. They were super thin, medium-sized gourmetish pies. The Hot Honey was flavorful, the mushroom was lacking in flavor and kinda dry. We had glasses of wine to accompany the pizza Rose's and Red Bubbles. Both were very tasty on the tongue, but shallow pours. We followed those up with Old Fashions which was a better drink value. Our tab was $155 for the 2 pizzas and 4 drinks. It was a good experience. The pizza was fun to watch being made. When it comes to flavors, ingredients and portions, there are many better Chicago pizza options out there.

Tavern Tuesday review: The tavern style pizza is one of the best in the city. The beer is sublime. The bar is lively and extremely busy. The music wasn't too loud on our visit and we had good service with the server checking in multiple times. I would have tipped at least 20% anyway so the automatic 21% isn't going to send me spiraling and it's very clearly labeled and communicated prior to and during payment.

One of the best pizza places in town. I came on a Tuesday to finally try their thin crust and boy they did not disappoint. I got a half and half pepperoni and veggie and it was a glorious experience. The crust was SO incredibly thin, crunching satisfyingly with each bite. Their cheese, sauce, and toppings are also delicious, making for an incredible pizza. For dessert I had the soft serve with a side of smashed berries and a double shot of espresso. If you’re looking for a simple vanilla berry sundae, this is it. Food: perfect. Service: fantastic. Atmosphere: airy and bright, welcoming, invites you into the process (you can see the ovens and even sit across them).

This is a laid-back spot with a cool neighborhood vibe. The menu features creative pizzas and fresh small plates, all paired nicely with their house-brewed beers. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it easy to hang out with friends over food and drinks. It’s a great choice when you want something casual but still full of flavor.

This spot has a relaxed, neighborhood feel with a menu full of fresh and creative options. The pizza and small plates are especially good, and the beer selection pairs perfectly with the food. What a cute place! The vibe is very artisanal and chill, and you just know you’re going to have a really good meal here. I had slices of the Soppressata with hot honey pizza and the mushroom pizza, both were amazing, but the Soppressata was my favorite. The salad was also extremely good! They even offer a great lunch special: a slice and a salad for just $10. Such a great spot to relax and enjoy seriously good food.

The service was great. We loved all the pizzas especially the sopressata + hot honey. The crust was perfectly toasted for all three. We also liked theself serve vanilla sundae. It didn't taste like the usualy vanilla sundae which made me like it more. It was just a bit loud that night so it was hard to talk to each other on yoir table.

Nestled away on Sheffield, just north of Wellington, Panes Bread Cafe is a hidden gem that you might not stumble upon unless you're in the know. This charming cash-only counter-service spot specializes in original sandwiches and fresh-baked bread, making it an ideal stop for a quick bite. The cozy atmosphere is complemented by friendly staff and locally sourced ingredients, creating a welcoming vibe. One standout dish at Panes is their rich and satisfying quiche—definitely worth trying during your visit.
Panes is the best sandwich shop in Chicago. Hands down. Their bread is fresh and every sandwich is made to order. Love stopping by here for a lunch bite whenever I can. Their menu is extensive, so there should be a suitable food option for everyone. You can also buy their bread by itself. It is very affordable.

Stopped to grab a quick, late lunch after a long day out. Food ended up taking a lot longer than expected though. I had “The Popular” which immediately called my name. I’ve never heard of tomato bread, but basically it’s an Italian bread with some tomatoes on top. I liked it, and the bread was very fresh and light. Juicy grilled chicken breast throughout with gooey provolone cheese on top. The caramelized onions and bell peppers provided some sweetness as well. While I enjoyed the sandwich, the chips were cold and not salty. With tons of options, I’ll for sure be back and will also try their monster cookie.

Went with the pollo diablo sandwich and a side of mashed potatoes. The sandwich had just the right amount of spice and was super satisfying. the mashed potatoes were creamy and a nice comfort food pairing. The place felt relaxed and easygoing which made the meal even better. definitely coming back to try more.

This place is a time machine back to a cozier, cheaper time -- shelves full of knickknacks, calm atmosphere and affordable, filling food. The bread is great. We got chilaquiles verdes and one of their egg sandwiches with turkey and caramelized onions. It felt homemade and comforting. There's no wifi here. Come sit, chat, read a book and feel like it's 2008 again.

Panes Bread Cafe is a cute brunch spot and bakery located off Sheffield. The food is all really reasonably priced and extremely delicious. The portion sizes are wonderful too. For some reason, the decor is part Iowa Hawkeyes fan part Hispanic culture, but it really works. Highly recommend anyone stop by.

A really cute bread and sandwich spot with lots of character and neighborhood vibe. The food is fantastic! The breads are baked in-house and so good. Must try, got my New Orleans craving fix in Chicago! Had the Gumbo, Crawfish Pie, Cowboy Nachos, and the Beignet. My favorite which I'll be coming back for are the Gumbo, Crawfish Pie, Cowboy Nachos. Tasted just like the restaurants in New Orleans! I was hoping the Beignet would be like Cafe Du Monde/ Cafe Beignet in New Orleans but didn't meet the quite make it. Staff is friendly and atmosphere was french quarter like but fresh and clean.

I went to June bug just to study and get maybe a coffee when I stumbled upon their menu. The gumbo was amazing and the beignets were not too sweet which I like. They were not skimpy on their portions either and the customer service was great! Would come back.

This NOLA-style diner is cozy, charming and has a great neighborhood vibe. The staff / owner is friendly and accomodating. But the food here is truly wonderful and stays committed to its NOLA roots for the most part. The po’ boys (separately shrimp and catfish) are really excellent on a buttered roll. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and good-sized. However, I was expecting a full filet of fried catfish, but it was 3 or 4 small/med pieces. The flavor though was on-point but would rather see traditional one-pieced filet. The gumbo was excellent and is a meal in itself. The roux was super-flavorful with big chunks of sausage and chicken mixed with the trinity. Lastly, the beignets was fantastic. Nicely fried dough with piles of powdered sugar on top, it was very messy. But luv’d it with cup of coffee. Defintely a place to return.

Holy cow, I’ve never had a meat pie like this. So flavorful and filled to the brim with juicy meat, with a sauce that’s the perfect accompaniment. All washed down with a chicory coffee cold brew - so good. Came here to get some work done on my laptop and couldn’t resist trying something from the menu, everything smelled so good. Glad I did! Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Lovely service, tasty food, and happy to see the fun NOLA-themed cafe in the neighborhood! Stopped by because this place is just down the way from the Chicagoland Firearm Training school. Got the sweet tea, lavender lemonade, two meat hand pies, and the bowl of gumbo to go!

The menu features an array of grain-focused café offerings and a unique toast bar, perfect for those looking to indulge in something wholesome.
Love this local gem! Recently, they switched up how they cooked their eggs for the breakfast sandwiches and it is a million times better— less messy, better texture, and great taste. The atmosphere is really cozy and colorful and great for going with friends, reading, or doing a bit of work. They have a little patio out back which I love in the summer/fall! Additionally, the owner and employees are highly empathetic and have shown kindness and care to people and families in need who have come through the area. We are truly lucky to have such a great spot in Lincoln Square.

I really like the bagels here and the sandwiches are great but they do this pet peeve of mine where they post their hours stating they’re open until 3:00 pm. I went there at 2:34 to get a toasted bagel with cream cheese to go and was informed their kitchen closes at 2:30. Just close the store. Lock the door. Turn off the lights at 2:30 then. You’re a bagel place. If you’re not serving food past 2:30 there is no reason to be open.

Delicious bagels. Super nice staff- the chef took time to explain all their different gluten free options. I really liked the everything bagel and cinnamon crunch bagel. I had the pho sandwich on an everything bagel and it was very good! The beef was a little rare for my personal taste (I just prefer cold roast beef a little more done), but it was exactly as described on the menu (a perfect medium-rare) and very flavorful. The drink options are great too- they had a very good kombucha. And the Doughboy was incredible. They def undersold it ('just a big ball of dough covered in cinnamon sugar'), but I'm glad I still chose it over the lemon cake which also looked really good. Omg the doughboys might have been my favorite thing, though. I went back the next day and bought more bagels (although I should have got more doughboys). The brown bag special is a great deal too, if you're going to get a bagel sandwich- it also comes with a drink, chips and a pastry.

I got the “viral bagel”. It is filled with a. Thin layer of cream cheese. I expected the cheese to be gooey, but the texture was honestly like bread (and heating it up didn’t help either). $7.38 for a bagel with a little bit of baked cream cheese is wild… I won’t be returning :/

We went to the cafe twice for breakfast during our stay in Chicago. We love their hot Pumpkin Spice latte and the Pistachios Matcha latte. We had the Mushroom, spinach and cream cheese puff pastry and Viral Bagel (Garlic and parsley cream cheese) on one day. The next day we had the Guava & cream pastry and Ham & cream cheese cachitos. We love all the breakfast items. First time trying a cachito. It is like a bread shaped in a crescent. The cafe atmosphere is very casual and relax.

First sip I took, I got straight clumps of bitter matcha. I ordered it with almond milk and vanilla and the drink tasted very artificial. Not worth nearly $10. For feedback, I suggest sifting the matcha powder to eliminate clumps/gritty texture. I’m not sure what brand of milk alternatives + syrups they use, but I recommend using the Califia Farms organic line (good taste + clean ingredients), and maybe making homemade syrups or buy a better tasting brand to avoid tasting so artificial.

Lost Larson is our go to every single time we are in Chicago - which is a lot - w/ baby grandson. Their fresh cardamon buns ALWAYS make a trip back to DC ; even after having eaten our fair share of Lost Larson Sweets while we were visiting all week! Their Lingonberry torte is prima- as are the rest of their treats. Pleasant atmosphere to sit w/ coffee as well. Once I spent a few hours comfortably holed up there while a Chicago blizzard stormed outside; can you even imagine a more pleasant place to be stuck? Hot Chocolate & coffee, Almands & the aforementioned Lingonberry tortes- what a sanctuary indeed!🥰

Fantastic upscale bakery on a quiet stretch of division. Coffee is decent and the drink menu is fairly small, but where this place really shines is the fresh baked goods. The selection can get a bit sparse the later in the day that you go, but everything is fresh baked daily and once it's gone, it's gone! There's also a small nook in the back that has some merchandise including berry preserves, very nice chocolate, and canned fish.

Rude service staff. I have been going to Sweet Mandy B's for the last 25 years and this was the first time I picked up an order in the Streeterville location. I went in to pick up a cupcake order I was met by a staff member black woman with curly hair in a side pony. When I came in, I told them I was picking up an order and the person directed me to a bunch of bags in the back of the store. When I did not see my name she called out for me at the counter explaining in a snarky tone that that's for catering orders only. She asked for my name and I told her mine as well as the person's name who ordered the baked goods. As she was flipping through the book I saw my name and told her that was my order. She responded rudely, "when you tell me three names, it's going to be hard to find it in the book." Rolled her eyes and then flipped past the page that I told her was mine. She went to the back and found my order and charged me and I said goodbye and she said nothing and walked away. I'm not going to this location anymore.

I LOVE your bakery and goods. I haven't been to this location in a long time. I just wanted to give the owner some advise as it seems they respond to comments. Your very first picture is of your front door with your hours stating you close at 8pm but clicking on your hours, you close at 6pm. You should delete that picture since that is not accurate and it seems that it was posted by the owner. I only say this because again, i love your bakery but i'm glad i clicked on hours because i almost just went by that picture and i would have been mad if i walked all way over after work only to find you are closed. :-( I'm sure many of your potential customers have done just that.

I don’t usually go out of my way to write reviews, but I got several croissants for my family from here, and we all agreed that they were the best croissants we’ve ever had in the U.S. I’ve been trying to find an almond croissant close to the ones I had while I lived in Berlin, and this almond croissant is the closest I’ve ever gotten. Perfect amount of frangipane, no artificial almond flavor, crunchy brown toastiness. The plain croissants were also fantastic. Highly recommend to any croissant lover and I can’t wait to try the other flavors.

Aya Pastry in West Town is a hidden gem for pastry lovers. Their almond croissant is a standout—flaky, buttery, and filled with rich almond paste. On my visit, I also tried the Kouign Amann, which was decadently sweet and caramelized to perfection. I spent about $10 for these two pastries, and they were well worth every penny. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

This is a cute, floral pastry shop in West Town with good, but pretty expensive pastries, cakes, breads, jams, olive oils, and other items. It is takeout only, with no indoor seating. For cakes, consider ordering online rather than in-store for a wider selection. The pastry in-store selection was a little limited too, with less selections than I expected. I got a slice of Banana Bread and a Peanut Butter Chocolate Croissant. While the banana bread was mediocre— a little dry, not too flavorful or special— the croissant was wonderful and delicious. It was so flaky, mildly sweet, and full of rich flavors. I also bought a pint of sourdough starter from them for $6, and it’s currently still active and thriving. Overall, the prices are a bit expensive though, with pastry items typically around $4-10. — Price (relative to peers): 3.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 4/5

Alper E — Google review
I got the Everything Spice Epi, Baguette, Miso Sesame Butter, Samoa Cake, and Tart Cherry Galette. Everything was delicious! Samoa Cake and Cherry Galette were super scaled back in sweetness (which I like, not too sweet). The breads were fantastic and the Epi is the perfect takeaway snack.

Whole sale & retail bakery supplier turned into a neighborhood gourmet bakery and a pastry shop. What a great addition to West Town. Best to show up earlier in the day. I went around 3:00 pm in the afternoon and as you can tell from the pictures everything was pretty much gone. Other than few pastries and cookies with longer shelf life most bread loaves & baguettes 🥖 were sold out. I got few pastries and a savory scallion biscuit which was divine. They have a cake version of the Samoa girl scout cookies, I'm afraid it could get addictive just like the Samoa cookies, can't have just one. Finally, go there to check out the life size Gingerbread house they have made around their entrance which you have to go through to get in the bakery. Totally recommend!!!

Maison Parisienne - French Café Armitage Ave offers an authentic taste of France with a variety of classic French delicacies such as croissants, baguettes, macarons, sandwiches, and quiche lorraine. The cozy and inviting ambiance adds to the experience, making visitors feel like they've been transported to France.
Absolutely wonderful French cafe with all of the classic items you would expect! Beautifully decorated floor to ceiling with gorgeous flowers and even crystal chandeliers. On top of this beautiful decor the handmade pastries and sandwiches are amazing! We purchased many of the sweet and chocolate croissants as well as some of the savory pastries as well. We definitely will be back to sit down and have lunch in their lovely cafe area!

Very good food and friendly staff! It's such a cute restaurant with character. It's not quite like Paris, but they try to make it as French-feeling as possible. I think the quiche Lorraine was delicious. It's a bit pricey, but that's to be expected in Lincoln Park. I would recommend trying it out if you like French, and French-inspired food.
Maurielle C — Google review
If you need a cup of coffee with crispy croissants, this is definitely the place to stop by. Their location is cute and they have lots of jam jars and other special gifts for loved ones. At this location service was always nice and the tastes of their bakery items are just delicious. Their price point can be higher than usual but the experience itself is worth every penny.

Wow this place is adorable! Would highly recommend coming in just to enjoy the atmosphere or a coffee date. Lots of beautiful pastries and macaroons, serves La Colombe coffee. Small businesses like these who really add to the community. Enjoy! We'll be back!

What an adorable French cafe. They serve very delicious croissants and pastries. Their coffees are really good too. Great place with a great vibe and atmosphere - very nice decoration. Highly recommend to come in and enjoy a lovely time.

Great lemon tart! Came here for a food tour. The flavors were amazing, with the fresh fruit brightening the nice tart lemon filling(it was very lemony). One thing I would say is that the crust is quite dense. The beautiful flower decor and natural lighting made the atmosphere so nice. The lady who brought our tarts was very nice too!

I had a tgtg order and the app said it was a $30 meal. I got a very improvised combination: A cold onion soup that looks more like onion stock, a piece of baguette with some salami on it, some plain waffle and a small pastry . $30 dollars meal. Needless to say but I am saying anyway that I will never be back.

I’ve only ever had the spinach and ricotta danish but it’s delightful. Even better toasted. It’s so crispy and buttery. The perfect snack while out and about.

Their quiche is highly recommended for its light, fluffy texture and rich flavor, making it an ideal choice for brunch. Customers have praised the establishment for their delicious and beautifully crafted wedding cakes, accommodating allergies and dietary restrictions while presenting them beautifully. The tres leches cupcake has been described as divine, offering a perfect balance of flavors without being overly decadent.
Incredible. They did a custom cake for me based off a picture I sent and somehow made it look even better. Most phenomenal carrot cake and frosting i’ve ever had. The cake was gone in 5 minutes. The texture was perfect and they called me to clarify on the design details and were so kind over the phone. This will be my permanent cake and sweets spot! Thank you for making my birthday so special!
Sabrina P — Google review
My wife surprised me with a cake from Chicago Sugar Daddy for my birthday and it was delicious! We also asked them to re-create our wedding cake for our first anniversary in 2024 which was also great. They not only make delicious cakes, they also make a bunch of Filipino desserts and cupcakes. Highly recommend!
Whitney S — Google review
We ordered a custom cake from Sugar Daddy for our baby shower and it was spectacular. It looked exactly like I envisioned, and was so beautiful. And most importantly, it was incredibly delicious. Our guests were raving! Everyone in the bakery was so lovely and helpful. They worked with us on exactly what we wanted and it could not have been easier. I will absolutely return to Sugar Daddy the next time I need a cake, and if I’m ever walking past their storefront I will definitely stop in to grab some cupcakes to go!!

Sweet, tasty treats. Not too sweet, which is a plus. Quite a few Filipino flavors as well, from dulce de leche to pandan to ube. Would go back!
Mark T — Google review
This was my first time ordering from the bakery and I must say this has became my favorite bakery! I’m very picky when it comes to cakes as well as my family. I had ordered a two tier cake for my father’s 60th birthday and they absolutely did an amazing job. I ordered marble and Ms. Valerie - those flavors were delicious and became a huge hit! The cake was perfectly moist and spongy and buttercream was not as sweet as I expected (it was delicious!). They did a phenomenal job and I would definitely highly recommend! Rayan was very communicative and had emailed me hours earlier that the cake was ready. I had gotten it delivered and it went smoothly!
Selene J — Google review
I ordered a custom cake for my partner's birthday. The bakers asked questions and followed up. They accommodated my request for all buttercream, and went above and beyond in the design. The cake turned out beautifully, and my partner was delighted. It tasted great too. Will order from them again. Thank you for your beautiful work!

My boyfriend surprised with custom cake for my birthday and it was the MOST PERFECT GLUTEN FREE CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! He got my favorite bubble tea flavor combination, taro and oreo!! I never thought I would have a cake with taro and it was incredible.
Reeti G — Google review
Rayan & James are absolutely amazing! They have made a very happy and ecstatic 10 year old’s birthday over here. They went above and beyond in communication, customer service AND creativity! My mom told me it was the best cake she has ever had & she is picky ok? 😂 ETA: My dad had a slice for breakfast this morning and we flew back to Michigan and it sat in my mom or dad’s lap at all time. THAT is how damn good it was.

Justice of the Pies is a charming bakery located on the corner of 87th Blackstone. Visitors have raved about its beautiful ambiance and delightful aroma. The pies, such as Keylime and Peach, are described as delicious with amazing textures, tastes, and freshness. In addition to pies, they also offer a tasty green salad topped with marinated sweet potato cubes. Customers have expressed their excitement about trying various desserts and quiches from this bakery.
I ordered Justice of the Pies for a work event and it was a hit! I ordered the following items: Key Lime, Sweet Potato, and Salted Caramel Peach Pie Chocolate Oat Cookies and Lavender Lemon Cookies Gouda Quiche and Feta Quiche Trust me when I say everything was delicious! I would definitely order again.
Sabrina M — Google review
Ordered the key lime pie, salted caramel peach pie, and peanut butter cookies plus a Nutella latte – and I'd recommend every single one! Everything was super delicious and definitely worth the around $6 per item. The service was friendly and informative, and the venue itself totally has a great vibe. Will definitely be back!
Ivory G — Google review
First impressions are always important and Justice of the Pies exceeded. The inside is so cute and clean! Very modern and chic. The lemon lavender cookie was so delicious! It was moist, warm and soft and absolutely perfect. I washed it down with the amethyst tea which was chefs kiss. I will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

Best pie in Chicago hands down! We tried the caramel apple crumble pie, key lime pie. apple banana bread and peanut butter cookie. It was all the perfect level of sweetness! Will be returning to try their savory pies.

Staff is really nice and goes out of their way to make sure you know all the offerings/options. The space is clean, cute, and relaxing (even when very busy). I ordered the Shokupan cinnamon roll and the sorrel bissap (hibiscus) latte to go, but then ended up sitting at the little counter in the side space on the left.
Caressa F — Google review
Justice of the Pies offers unique and delicious flavors that really stand out. The pies are rich, fresh, and beautifully made, with both sweet and savory options to enjoy. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot for a special treat. Definitely worth a visit if you love high-quality baked goods.
Gmtredn N — Google review
Expensive, but top notch pies, cheesecake, cookies, and milkshakes. The basil lemon pie is interestingly delicious. 🥧
Brad B — Google review
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and full description and explanation of the menu. I tried the shokupan cinnamon roll, salted caramel peach pie and banana pudding. My favorite was the peach pie; the caramel paired with the peach was so delicious and I loved the texture of the pie and crust! I personally wasn’t a huge fan of the banana pudding; I prefer a more mousse-like texture with a more vanilla-forward flavor and this one was more pudding-like. The flavor of the cinnamon roll was AMAZING but I wish it was a bit softer and warmer. However, I did go later in the morning and got one of the last rolls so this could have been because I didn’t get there early enough. Definitely a place that everyone should visit!

Savoy Square is a delightful culinary destination that pays homage to the French region of Savoy with its signature dish, quiche Savoyard. This savory pie features a mouthwatering blend of asparagus, wild mushrooms, Swiss cheese, eggs, and heavy cream. The charm continues with Quiche Parisienne, which combines Brie cheese and ham for a taste reminiscent of Parisian bistros.

I was to move into a unit on 43rd in Dearborn. After passing all qualifications taking a drug test and all my documents came back completed. The assistant manager showed Me a nice townhouse which was beautiful. I was geared up and ready to move waiting for my official move date. Then the weekend came.I decided to go survey the area driving by my son noticed There was bullet holes throughout the window Several townhomes. I decided not to move in that townhouse. The property manager reached out to me and asked me why did I resend my application. I asked her did she know about the shooting that happened over the weekend. There were many windows shot out and also a vehicle . I told her I was a single parent raising 3 young boys. I will not feel comfortable moving and that area where I saw with my own 2 eyes several units was shot out my kids could've been outside playing. I didn't feel comfortable moving knowingly dangerously situation that happened. She replied , well you know you moving on the low end and she hung up the phone on me. Very Rude. The following week I received a call from ther regional area manager Ms Jackie!! Miss Jackie stated they have several units available and she could help find me another unit. I wouldn't have to go through the process again they can just use my file / paperwork . She also stated I can drive through other properties which I did. She also quoted she will give me a call on Monday. Monday came Miss Jackie didn't call .I decided to pick up the phone to call . I spoke to her and she told me she would have someone call me back. 3 weeks past I haven't heard from anyone I'm still waiting on that phone call that would never come. I was willing to move to a different location.. Respectfully I just refused to move in That particular town house knowing what just happened. I understand I live in Chicago and things happen. They have over 200 units. And I was told that they will work with me the property manager do not represent this property and will make a person pass bad judges on their experience. The owner should really know who they Have working for them and why their unit not getting rented. I can say the assistant manager Britney was really nice and kind. Maybe she needs to be the manager. It's terrible when you put people in positions hoping they do a job right and you get this.. Not to mention the whole process took over a month and a 1/2.. On their property they have big banner stating now hiring. I hope whoever they choose to work for them do a better job representing the company.
Suewan B — Google review
If I could, I would give them Zero stars. Working with Jenette Thomas was horrible. Her lack of communication is tremendously OFF..She was so misleading when it came to renting an apartment with this company. Gave me the run arounds, after I gave her all my documents. Even when I called to speak with her manager , that was no help. I’m still waiting on a return call .
