While the location remains desirable, Hilton has allowed this once iconic Hotel literally fall apart. Whether you been here before as I have or your first time in Chicago, it’s time to look for other options. The hotel rooms feel and smell old. The elevators appear as though they haven’t been thoroughly cleaned in a very long time. The hallways have peeling paint and the doors to the room don’t even close by themselves. You have to pull them closed as if the doors expanded with moisture and no longer close easily. Forget restaurant options. Go out on the town unless you like paying $35 for a simple burger or $10 for a small container of Advil 10 tablets. Service was like warm except for one waitress in their lobby bar who was very nice and responsive. The breakfast area looked tired and old. Service not all that good. While I loved this property years ago, i would have booked another hotel had I’d known the hotel had been so ignored for so many years.

Please don’t waste your money at this hotel. I booked a lake view room for more than 500$ a night and this is the view I got, I called the receptionist who really offered nothing. They have no fridge! No microwave. Come on, the microwave cost few hundred dollars but yet it was hard goal for them to achieve! I’m giving you an honest review, this was unfortunately one of my worst experiences although I picked higher end cost hotel to enjoy my time, half cost hotels offer a lot better.

This hotel may once have stood for sophistication and luxury but not anymore. Despite its beautiful history, classic architecture, and dreamy tearoom, The Drake lacks all the actual amenities that make one feel comfortable in a hotel room. My room did not have a fridge. When informed, staff were quick to send one up to my room. Except it didn’t work. The furniture is clearly made to house a mini fridge, but there are not enough outlets so you can only power the TV. The non-operational fridge made for a convenient stand for the coffee maker which, again, had no outlet close to its original niche. I’d have had to place it on the floor were it not for the fridge/stand. Still on power outlets. Besides the bed you only have access to one. Or you need to unplug the bedside lamps. Staff were nice and friendly. Alas, as a Hilton honors gold member, I felt absolutely no different than if I had checked in at a La Quinta by the road. Will not be returning.

I recently stayed at The Drake Hotel in Chicago, expecting the quality and comfort that typically comes with a Hilton property. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I’d associate with a four-star hotel. I paid extra to upgrade to a corner suite, but the room immediately fell short of expectations. It had a musty, unpleasant odor, and the bathroom floor tiles were cracked. The carpet was heavily worn, and wallpaper was peeling in several areas along with stained furniture. Maintenance had to be called— for slow and clogged bath and sink drains I discovered a plastic bag covering a fire sprinkler in the bathroom. While both issues were fixed promptly by the maintenance staff, they should never have been missed in a room at this price point. Housekeeping was also inconsistent — towels were not replaced daily, and some used towels were not replenished. These details, combined with the overall wear and condition of the suite, left me very disappointed. a QR on the door for tipping of housekeeping but shouldn't even be there as the quality didnt necessitate a tip. For the price paid, the experience did not come close to meeting Hilton’s usual standards of quality and care. This Hilton property should not carry a 4 star rating anymore for the standard Hilton carries. As a long standing Hilton honors member this his highly disappointing. Sadly, I would not choose to stay at The Drake again on future trips to Chicago or possibly any other Hilton brands.

I haven’t even checked in yet, but I had to post this early because of the incredible service I just received. I called The Drake and spoke with Anthony S., and he was absolutely phenomenal — truly next level. He helped me in multiple ways, went above and beyond, and left such a great impression that I’m already confident this will be a five-star stay. This hotel is absolutely stunning, the history is fascinating. The food was amazing and the staff are all very friendly from the Doormen to the Front desk, to housekeeping. I love the location and the short walk to the beach as well as all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are cute and comfy. There is so much detail in this hotel there are things to see everywhere you turn. 10/10 will recommend.

Our experience at The Drake was disappointing from start to finish. Upon arrival, our luggage couldn’t be located — we waited a long time and ultimately had to describe how it looked before someone finally found it. During checkout, both bellmen were noticeably rude. One, a Black gentleman working the morning shift around noon, could barely manage to say hello or offer any assistance. It felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially for a hotel of The Drake’s reputation. The rooms were exceptionally small, which only added to our overall disappointment, especially given the price point and prestige associated with this property. The only positive part of our experience was the valet service — they were prompt, courteous, and went above and beyond. However, I learned they are managed by a separate company, not The Drake itself. Unfortunately, based on this stay, I wouldn’t recommend The Drake Hotel.

Went to Chicago to visit the harry potter store. This was super convenient and a perfect place to stay to be a short walk to everywhere. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room very nice and up to date technology. The pool and locker rooms were clean and nice. Will definitely be back for another stay. Just want to stay more than 2 nights next time:)

Great hotel! We recently stayed 3 nights and were very impressed. Staff was wonderful. Food at the Lobby restaurant (and room service) was outstanding. Beautiful/comfortable room. We'll be back.

I recently stayed at The Peninsula and have to say the Experience was Phenomenal. From the staff at the entrance to the housecleaners they made me feel right at home. The rooms were clean, modern A/c was working and loved the view from My room. The pool was clean with great views of Chicago , the men’s locker room was impeccable with staff members always greeting me. Everyone was very friendly at The Peninsula Chicago I will most definitely be staying here again. I almost forgot the breakfast was great and the concierge were exceptional at getting me into last minute restaurants and recommendation. The concierge that I ran into the most was a Latino guy with a golden bracelet closest to the breakfast entrance can’t remember his name super friendly and great at recommending restaurants in the area.

One of the nicest properties you can find in Chicago. Service was outstanding, and the building is clean and beautiful. The staff handling our event was great as well. Would highly recommend.

I had an amazing vacation stay at The Peninsula Chicago with friends and family. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The service was outstanding — the staff were professional, friendly, and very attentive to every detail. The hotel is in a perfect location, within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, and attractions. The food and drinks were exceptional, offering both variety and quality. It’s a perfect place for a luxury getaway, romantic retreat, or even a family vacation. This hotel is quiet, high-tech, kid-friendly, and offers a great view of the city. Overall, it’s great value for the premium experience it offers.

First time at this hotel for my anniversary and decided to get a pedicure. My husband wanted one as well but availability was limited so I went by myself. The experience was the worse I had ever experienced. I had no chip on my toes which they charged me to take off and the nail tech didn't know how to properly remove. She used a drill and damage my toenails. I stopped her and informed her that I do not like her using the drill. She used up most of my spa time trying to remove the no chip polish and informed that I couldn't get a massage due to lack of time. Stated I should have told them when booking the appointment I had no chip polish which I did inform the lady when booking the appointment. I was never offered any type of refreshment. I'm so disappointed in the service I received at such an upscale establishment. Do not get your nails done at the spa.

This is absolutely the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed at. Spent a couple of nights in the 1-bedroom lake-view suite on the 10th floor at the beginning of July, and then another couple of nights in a Premier room with a king bed later in July. Each trip was sponsored by an interviewing company for which I am grateful. The first time I reached the Langham was around 1pm on a Sunday and my suite wasn't ready yet, so I handed my luggage to the reception desk (it's on the second floor) and went outside for a stroll and lunch. Got back at 2:30pm and had to wait till around 3:30 for the room, so they gave me complimentary access for the day to their Club lounge on the top floor, and that was pretty amazing! It had different food options at different times of the day, and I could just sit and relax there with food and drinks. My room had fantastic views as well, and at 1200 square feet, dare I say it was spacious. The bathtub and bathroom had every amenity imaginable. My luggage was of course, already brought up by the time I entered my room. Stuff at the minibar was definitely expensive - a small can of nuts was 16 bucks, but you kinda expect that if you're staying at a 5-star hotel. They have a small swimming pool, around 20 yards in length, which I went to, but got out after 10 minutes, because there were too many kids on Sunday evening. The suite had panels for everything - lights, drapes, curtains. It had 1.5 bathrooms plus an extra sink that could be hidden behind a retractable door. The decor of the reception area was also so beautiful - I loved it, and I absolutely did not mind waiting there for an hour.

Staff and service were outstanding. Room fit and finish is exceptional. Location is great for all downtown activities. The one knock is that the views of the rooms on the west side of the building are pretty subpar. Our room basically faced a concrete wall of the hotel next door. When I asked to switch rooms, they told me the only option was to pay for an upgrade, even though I had not been upgraded through the complementary Amex Fine Rewards program. I understand this program is just an upgrade based on availability, but if there was a room available, it was just a bit confusing that I would have to pay for the upgrade. Anyway, really nice hotel overall, just a word of caution if you care about light / views. I imagine the rooms facing the River / North are fantastic.

Our stay at the Langham Chicago was outstanding. All aspects of our stay exceeded expectations. The hotel staff were friendly, courteous, and always willing to assist. We were very pleased with the size of the room. The hotel gym has all the equipment needed for a great workout, and the sauna and steam rooms were a great way to destress. We especially enjoyed the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Overall, I would highly recommend the Langham and look forward to our next stay.

~~~Hotel Stay~~~ Service is amazing. They have valet. The hotel is right next to the Chicago River, great location for finding food downtown. They also have a wonderful restaurant on the 2nd floor of the hotel (Travelle). Their rooms are clean. They have a nice exclusive lounge (I believe it's the top floor) and it has an amazing view of the city. They also have a spa and a pool, but I did not try these when I stayed. ~~~As a Wedding Venue~~~ We had our wedding at The Langham in September 2025. It was the easiest and best decision we have ever made. When we were touring venues for our wedding, we visited The Langham once and we immediately knew we wanted to have our wedding there. While The Langham is indeed luxurious, it was the venue manager, Vasso Power, and her professionalism that blew us away. Her communication was top tier. Which cannot be said for other venues we toured, so we knew from the beginning that we wanted to work with her. We cannot fully express our gratitude for Vasso's attention to detail and work ethic. She was always organized, kind, caring, and considerate of our preferences. We visited The Langham multiple times prior to the wedding. Mainly for walking through with our wedding planner and to show our parents the venue when they were in town. Every time the staff were very professional and we never felt unwelcome. The rooms that the bride and groom get to stay in are amazing, they really spoiled us. The food for the wedding was scrumptious and superb. Often I hear of people's low expectation of wedding food, but your guests will not experience this at The Langham. Everything was delicious! From a guest perspective, I did not hear anything negative regarding anyone's experience at The Langham. My parents were in awe that the staff would open the door and welcome them by name, my dad told me "we will now be comparing everything to The Langham." We loved our wedding here, it was the best day of our lives. Yes, you may have a nice wedding at a different venue, but having a wedding at The Langham is peak luxury, service, and quality. So if you are looking for a wedding venue with beautiful views of the river, excellent service, fantastic food — look no further.

I’ve always loved staying at The Langham Chicago — it’s one of my favorite places in the world, and I’m here often. But over the past year, something feels different. The staff remains as gracious and welcoming as ever, but behind their smiles, there’s a visible weariness. It’s as if the heart of the hotel — its people — is being stretched too thin. The management team, once able to linger for warm, friendly conversations that made the hotel feel like home, now seem constantly pulled into the fray, working alongside their teams just to keep up. What used to feel like an elegant, effortless experience now feels hurried. Please, take care of them. These are the faces I see more often than some of my own family — and they deserve to be supported, not exhausted

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I were very thrilled with the experience. The front staff was very welcoming and made his birthday stay feel special. The restaurant was very nice and served good food. We spent one night here at the highest floor, view was the best and the room was very big and luxurious. I would highly recommend this 5 stars Michelin Hotel to anyone considering it.

One of the most delicious meals I've had in years. The borscht was amazing, and the medovik was absolutely wonderful. The cabbage roll was also good, but the borscht and medovik were above and beyond any expectations I had. I got a flight of vodka, and on my server's suggestion substituted one of them with their horseradish vodka. It was a great suggestion. Fantastic. The tea vodka and coriander vodka were also lovely. Igor was a great server. Personable and helpful. Good suggestions. Very nice atmosphere as well. A bit fancy but relaxed in itself, not stuffy. Wish I lived close enough to be a regular.

Had an amazing tea service and some side dishes. Everything was delicious. The tea was fragrant and flavorful. The servers were lovely. The have a large menu with with everything from Russian comfort food to caviar and vodka flights. I also recommend the soup!

It’s a historic spot with a warm, elegant atmosphere. You can really feel the old-world charm here — everything from the tea service to the presentation of dishes is done with great attention to detail. Fantastic food and great service. My fiance is Russian and has been in the States for 24 years. This was her first real "home cooked" meal since coming here. She was very impressed with the flavors, freshness and selections, as was I.

Honestly had the most amazing experience. I went in on a whim with my bestie. Genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time. We didn’t have any food, just drinks. The tea was amazing. Bestie had the house tea which I also tried and it was really good. I had an earl grey lavender tea and they brought out a whole pot of it, which was awesome. We also got unlimited refills for the house tea. For $8 that’s really not bad, especially because it was so unbelievably good. Iverson from Venezuela (not Minnesota) was so awesome I loved him. What a sweet man I adored him so much. Its also my birthday today too and I told him, he brought us out a really yummy chocolate cake with I think cherry syrup? Really good omg so delicious, 10/10 would recommend. He sang happy birthday too and made me feel really happy. He was a joy to talk to and really funny, I loved a lot of the staff. We also both had lavender martinis. Iverson asked us our sweetness preferences which I really appreciated since I have sensory issues with alcohol. Omg he nailed both of our drinks. I definitely prefer to taste the lavender heavily while bestie would rather taste more alcohol. We tried each other’s drinks and I think he nailed both of our drinks to our preferences perfectly. I was so impressed and happy I left a $20 tip. I rarely get good servers at restaurants but Iverson was phenomenal. Also I really appreciated how clean the restaurant was, the music was very pretty. And there was soap in the bathroom, I was very happy about that.

Wonderful place!! Cannot recommend enough. My friend and I went in there for just tea and a martini and had an absolutely lovely experience. Our bartender was Iverson, and took really good care of us with conversation and overall great service. The staff in general was kind, attentive, and polite, and even the other customers were great to be around. I ordered the house tea and could not get enough of it. Iverson had recommended it and I'm glad I took his word. I was also recommended the lavender martini and enjoyed that very much (which was mixed to my sweetness preference after being asked). Overall, the atmosphere was great, the staff were polite, and the whole place was very clean and charming. They even brought out some cake for my friend who was celebrating their birthday. Long stop or short, I would very much recomend coming here.

I have had the best experience at this restaurant. The lamb shank will melt in your mouth. The shareable appetizers are delicious. Great menus and creative.Will get back again. Highly recommend.✅👍🥰

I paid nearly $450 a night and got nearly nothing for it. The first thing I was asked when checking in was if I wanted an upgrade for $100 a night on top of what I already paid, I of course rejected it. Then the hotel had the audacity to try to charge $3 for water bottles. It just felt greedy and a hotel more interested in taking my money instead of offering great service. The room I got was small and dark. In a corner with absolutely no wiev. Also the door to the room bearly kept noise from the corridor out. Also no turn down service or full breakfast included in the price. Just a $20 voucher to a mediocre restaurant, which bearly covered the cost of a light breakfast. Furthermore no bathtub. Just a shower with terrible water pressure. I have had way better hotel experiences for half the cost. The only plus was that the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

I loved staying at the london house. There is a small place to pull up and get out and unload ur things but just have the bell man help you. Lobby is second floor. Small hotel but very beautiful. I thought the staff were very nice and helpful with my requests. The rooms are pleasant, clean and comfortable, in my opinion slightly small yes, but it’s chicago big city. Beds are extremely comfortable. I thought the bathrooms were modern and clean. We had room service and food was really delicious and not long wait. The location is perfect right on the corner of wacker and michigan ave by river walk. Close to lots of sight seeing.

I booked a massage and facial to celebrate my anniversary, expecting a relaxing, high-end spa experience — unfortunately, it was far from that. Upon arrival (15 minutes early, as requested), no one greeted me, and we waited awkwardly before being acknowledged. I wanted to enjoy some tea before my service, but there were no tea options available despite a kettle being out. During my facial, the steam was uncomfortably hot on my face, and even after asking for an adjustment, I had to move it myself. The provider’s phone was connected to the music, so every text message interrupted the treatment with a “ding,” making it impossible to fully relax. She was also quite heavy-handed throughout, and I could clearly hear another therapist cleaning and emptying trash nearby. The same issue happened during my massage — the facial provider was cleaning while I was on the table. I had specifically requested focus on my mid-back with firm pressure. Despite reminding the therapist twice, the massage mostly performed like light oil rubbing with little targeted work. Overall, this experience felt unprofessional and far below the standard I expected from London House and Windy City Massage. The setting, ambiance, and service quality all missed the mark. Lastly, the rooms tried to hide the wall from damage, but definitely did not do a good job. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this spa nor would I want a voucher for a free reimbursement. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE

Why only two stars? The location is great as its close to so many places and easy walk to things. The staff are all extremely helpful and pleasant. The rooms decor is modern and nicely done. So why the two stars? BECAUSE this hotel will nickel and dime you for everything! From water to views! Be prepared to keep your blinds closed unless you want to be on display or look upon another wall. The rates for the rooms is NOT worth the price just for the location. There's so many other options in the area! And you'll pay for water!

First off I want to say the staff is lovely, kind and very helpful. Service is of the charts. However, I’m dumbfounded by how much I disliked everything else. I only spent 2 nights in the hotel and I’m thankful for that. Waiting for the elevators takes 10-15 minutes despite there being 6 in total; I still don’t know why. I was staying at the 20th floor and I could hear everything, fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, cheap V8s, motorcycles, you name it, I was woken up constantly both nights. The quality of sleep the noise interrupted wasn’t even good. The pillows are atrocious, they are vey puffy and look and feel very high quality but the stuffing was abysmal. No more than 10 minutes it took them to completely deform and have my head resting on the mattress with absolutely no support to my neck but at least the deformed pillow now surrounding my head drowned some of the noise from outside. The bathrooms are poorly designed the “door” was a slideable glass panel that was see through directly to the toilet and shower so no privacy and to make matters worse the bathrooms are the opposite of noise proof, they are more of a bass boosted type of acoustics for no space inside the room was saved from your noises. The rooftop is the definition of underwhelming. After waiting for the eternal elevator of despair you are greeted by a very solid view no complaints there, but why is a 3 ounce cocktail drink 22 dollars? The rooftop area is small and the opposite of welcoming the music is from a radio station and there are 7 tables tops for the 150 people they try to cramp up there. The bar area below the rooftop is the opposite, now we have what feels like 40 tables and absolutely no walking room. The LondonHouse’s biggest upside is its friendly and outstanding service 10/10 as well as its scenic views. That is not enough to recommend staying here.

We visited the roof top bar here. You do not have to be a guest here but can just take one of two lift up to the bar. It might be better to book a table as it can be difficult to get a table just for a drink. Prices are much the same as anywhere else. The views are fantastic and worth a look.

As locals, my cousin and I decided to stay at the London House for a relaxing getaway from work, kids, and everyday stress. It turned out to be one of the most luxurious and restful stays we’ve ever had! A special thank-you to the lovely lady who checked us in — she made us feel very welcome from the start. We stayed on the 20th floor with a stunning river view, and our room was spotless with incredibly comfortable beds. The only minor issue was some noise in the hallway on the first night from other guests, but it didn’t affect the rest of our stay. I would absolutely recommend London House to anyone looking for a relaxing, upscale experience. Regarding the rooftop, the nighttime view is beautiful, but it was a bit inconvenient not knowing that reservations were required for seating — we had to wait around like everyone else just to get a photo and a spot to stand. As hotel guests, it would have been nice to have a bit more accommodation. However, the daytime rooftop experience was far better and highly enjoyable!

I got there late in the day, around 6pm, but they still had some good options. The chocolate chip cookie was rich and chocolatey and buttery but thankfully not overly sweet. The giant chocolate stud muffin was super sweet, as cupcakes tend to be. It had a rich ganache filling under all of that buttercream. It was cold out of the case and would have been so much better room temperature, but I don't have anywhere near the patience for that - would be ideal if sold that way, but I imagine keeping them cool prolongs shelf life. Service was excellent, as was the ambiance. Both indoor and outdoor seating.

Our wedding cake from Vanille was absolutely beautiful and beyond delicious! We received so many compliments from our guests, and the raspberry layer was definitely a crowd favorite. From start to finish, the team was communicative, extremely kind, and so easy to work with. They brought our vision to life perfectly, and the cake looked just as stunning as it tasted and was also priced extremely fair in the world of wedding vendors. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and are so grateful to Vanille for being part of our special day. Highly recommend them to any couple looking for a cake that will truly wow your guests!

For me it was basic . Coffee, lemon tart and almond croissant were okay,nothing special. I didn’t feel any coziness inside while sitting. For me personally it was strange for having passcode in restroom for customers. I can understand , it’s not a restroom for public use, but felt odd that I should ask for code . They could add the passcode at the end of receipt, my suggestion. But anyway, it was okay ,nothing more.

I found this candy store yesterday since I was looking for an emergency candy and here I found it the candy store very clean the decent clerks the sweets very delicious I loved it I had an excellent experience I found a birthday cake and I was able to celebrate I also bought the cake candles in this pastry shop when you get home and split the cake was very delicious 🤤 I loved it

Vanile Patisserie is the French craft pastry shop and cafe. Very important - it is not French-like, but a genuine sweet masterpieces prepared by maitre patissier (master pastry chef). I have been their devoted customer for five years and never got disappointed. I cannot boast being an expert who finds "cherry with the notes of oak" taste or who is a true truffle sniffer to distinguish a scent of ohelo'ai berry. However, there is a balance of sweetness and flavor in every product. Visual appeal and taste make id devine. Of course, affording Paris is not easy. But affording this cafe is within a reach to get the feeling.

So delicious, everything is fresh and so tasteful. The service is great and we spent a great little break here.

Not a review about the hotel which is great. Absolutely appalling service in the rooftop bar/restaurant! Had to ask 3 different people to bring sugar for coffee which then didn’t come with a spoon. Then all over again when another coffee was ordered and they finally brought saccharine rubbish as they didn’t have any raw sugar left! I said, no, sugar please, so they went to find some from one of the other gazillion options in the building. Really??? Too cool for school. I was with business colleagues who luckily found it amusing but very shoddy, slack, lazy service. Not the first time. Sort it out, Soho House. Have had the same experience many times in London houses too. Perhaps going private again will have the houses working properly like the good old days!

We stayed with Soho House Sept. 12-14 for our wedding across the street, and we are SO happy that we did! From initial check-in, the Soho team made us feel so welcome, even gifting us a bottle of champagne and sweets upon arrival! The "Big" room was absolutely GORGEOUS, and accommodating my bridal party for wedding glam was a breeze. From room service, to the assortment of bath and personal products, to coffee on the rooftop, the amenities and service were amazing! Thank you to the entire Soho Chicago team for making our wedding weekend so special!

Came here with a friend who is a member. I ordered the jerk chicken for dinner, which came highly recommended by our server but sadly, it was incredibly dry and lacked any flavour. The atmosphere was cool but personally I think it’s over hyped 🫤

Stayed for 3 nights on a business trip. Hotel and room were beautiful, modern and hip. Amenities were top notch. Enjoyed daily complimentary cocktails.

Sharp decline. Gym is disgusting, no climate control or staff. Drinks are bad upstairs and it's understaffed. Music is outdated and overall matches the stale, low class atmosphere. No interesting creatives here anymore, just NPCs and bland 1 dimensional "influencers". The interior has been stagnant for at least 5 years. RIP Soho 🪦

We’ve been to tea all over the world and this is, by far, the most expensive and underwhelming experience we’ve ever had. While the tea service is “themed,” the presentation is a bit of a stretch. Aside from the green elixir, one green sandwich, and the dessert items, the theme feels like an afterthought. There is no themed decor in the space and the food items come across as renamed versions of standard tea items. That said, the macaroon is absolutely delicious. The harpist was a nice touch but she went on break three times during our 90 minute tea time and we were left with silence between performances. The Moet add on at booking is a great value. This makes the cost $140 per person plus taxes and a 20% service/gratuity charge. Please note that all a la carte purchases will also incur an additional 20% service/gratuity fee. This includes adding additional beverages to your experience. The tea service is coursed out for you. Items are brought as you finish the latest course. The server was very attentive in monitoring our pacing but we would have liked more control over our dining experience. The tea service does not include a replenishment of any food or tea items. This means that you are limited to four tea sandwiches, two scones, and four desserts. This has not been our experience elsewhere, including in Chicago. Our total for two was $380 plus $85 for additional champagne. It was not money well spent.

Paddington Bear High Tea at the Pavilion is an experience that brought me back to childhood in the best way. After a rocky start, with a quite rude encounter from the host including forgetting to provide me the menu once I was able to be seated, the rest of my experience was quite lovely. Paddington was one of my favourite stories from childhood so the high tea was a wonderful way to reconnect with that nostalgia. The creative and beautiful presentation of the food, especially the cheese course, Peru to London, was delightful. The incorporation of the elements from the Paddington story into the food was really nice to see and enjoy.

It was a very pleasant place for afternoon tea. I loved the harpist. Did not feel rushed. Perfect way to have quality time with friends.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Wicked‑themed afternoon tea at The Langham Pavilion. The theme and presentation were outstanding, but what truly made the experience exceptional was our server, Deair. She was attentive, professional, and took the time to explain each element of the service from start to finish. Her pride in her work and genuine care for guests were evident throughout our visit. Deair is an outstanding ambassador for The Langham — you are fortunate to have her on your team.

Went there for a tea brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. Beautiful but yet cozy spot. The little bites and pastries were almost too pretty to eat! The savory options were yummy and creative, but there was barely enough savory options. 80% of the items were sweets of some sort, wish it was more a 50/50 between sweets and savory. Service was pretty slow, but very friendly. Great occasion for pretty pictures!

Cute place to go for tea time and to feel a little fancy. We started with a glass of mediocre champagne, then moved into the sandwiches, which were also middle of the road and relied heavily on mayo/ cream. The desserts and petit fours were also okay, a bit sweeter than I expected. We were allowed one pot of tea each and ended up getting a third to split. The atmosphere was quiet, relaxing and perfect for catching up with friends. Our server was helpful and attentive. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with so-so food. I'd come back here again if a friend really wanted to go, but I probably would not initiate a visit on my own

What a wonderful Alice in the Wonderland afternoon tea at the Pavilion in the Langham Hotel! Beautiful place for a nice getaway and birthday celebration! The staffs were very friendly; they always came to check and refilled beverages. They even surprised us with a birthday cupcake! The dessert were beautifully crafted and uniquely delicious! If you want a luxury high tea experience, this is the place!

The drinks were very delicious, the service was good and the atmosphere was perfect. Some of the tables and chairs were couches and not individual seats. It did feel cramped walking around in some areas. The space was not as open.

Have been to SoHo many times but never eaten at the Allis. It was quiet and peaceful on a weekday morning, with plenty of seating options available, both inside and outside. We split a few things, simple eggs bacon and sourdough, fresh fruit, the delicious crispy hash browns, and the avocado toast. Everything was fresh and tasty. The portion sizes aren’t the biggest, but we were still full by the end. Would def get the avocado toast and hash browns again.

A delightful little lunch experience at the Allis! Service was on top of things, everyone was super friendly and it was a perfect place to start off a day of shopping and enjoying the city! Vibes are always good here!

We came here for brunch but both me and my husband left very disappointed. Not only the food was plain and not worth the money, the service was also absolutely the worst. The table and plates were not clean, plus the waiter seemed like she did not want to talk to us at all. Would definitely not come back!

Was looking for an amazing brunch spot in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is 100 out of 10 just my kind of spot, posh and classy. The food was great and the blueberry babies tea was great. Definitely will be back soon! The last time visited I have mold in my Jam. Just make sure you check you food before eating.

A cute place to relax or work for a bit! They have communal tables as well as a bar area and private tables which offers a nice range. The staff is friendly but service is a bit slow even when it isn’t busy. The atmosphere is so fun nice though and you can even head upstairs for a quieter work space! I enjoyed my lemonade in the hot Chicago summer and had a good time working here for a bit (outlets can be tricky!).

From start to finish, my experience at the Four Seasons Chicago was nothing short of exceptional. I came with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. This is the first time we ever stayed at any Four Seasons hotel. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed outside by the valet, whose pleasant and respectful demeanor immediately set the tone for our stay. Even though we arrived much earlier than 3 PM, check-in was smooth and accommodating, with the front desk staff going above and beyond to make us feel at home. The spa service was absolutely top-notch — from the staff to the amenities, however, the masseuse was truly amazing, delivering one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Every interaction with the staff reinforced why the Four Seasons has such a stellar reputation: every employee we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The room we stayed in was pretty spacious, clean and had an amazing view of Chicago’s skyline. Overall, the Four Seasons truly exceeded our expectations. It’s a great, luxury hotel in the heart of Chicago, can’t say enough about the pleasant staff. We left feeling relaxed, pampered, and eager to return. I would highly recommend!

Great location, clean and well maintained for its age. The staff were very accommodating in food allergy requests in the lobby restaurant. Rooms were great, quiet and comfortable. Facility itself felt super safe, the kids had a great time in the pool. The actual kids room they market and the ice cream sundae experience missed the target a little, but either way, we would definitely stay again!

Overall, I had a very positive experience staying at the Four Seasons. The room, while a bit dated, was comfortable and had all the essentials without needing additional requests. Adorn offers a delicious and well-curated menu, and both the reception and concierge teams were consistently helpful, responsive, and supportive - special thanks to them! The only things that held me back from giving a full five stars were the slow response time from room service and one early morning interaction with a front desk lady who seemed unwilling to assist. That said, the overall service and atmosphere made for a great stay, and I would definitely come back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Four Seasons Chicago while attending a conference with family. The location is safe, vibrant, and perfectly situated near top shopping (Michigan Ave. / Oak St. / Rush St.) and dining. Aster Hall next door is great for quick, quality bites. Service was exceptional from start to finish. A special thanks to Laith at the concierge desk for his outstanding hospitality- he gave amazing café recommendations (Oud Coffee’s cardamom/pistachio latte was the best I’ve had!), upgraded us to a stunning suite with fabulous city views complete with a chic window bench to soak it all in, and arranged a late checkout! His warm, personal touch made us feel completely at home! Every staff member we encountered was kind, professional, and welcoming. The Four Seasons offers an experience defined by elegance, comfort, and unmatched service. We look forward to returning!

Not your normal review. It's cold out. Steam is billowing from the rooftops of skyscrapers as we watch Michigan Avenue bustle, lively as ever. The sun had set hours ago but the street is bright with Christmas lights on trees towering over; delicate bare limbs writhing in the wind. Snow circles gently around the corner of the building and collects on the sills of our suite as we watch horse drawn carts carrying passengers, wrapped in fur blankets and watching the lights drift by. Drinks are delivered to our room by the kindest and most personable person we've ever encountered and our evening, this perfect moment, is complete. Fast forward to tonight, a year later, and we passed the same woman who delivered our drinks in the hall. She made such an incredible impression on us last year that not only is she imprinted, indelible, in our memories, but she became a core part of this perfect memory. Her name is Kelly. She's the PM room service employee. Kelly is an astronomically rare, incredible human being, and a fabulous ambassador of the Gwen and Bonvoy brands. I have never seen such personability and vibrance at any Bonvoy hotel before her, ever. She's a reminder of why we've stayed at the Gwen dozens of times now. It feels like home. Not just another random hotel.

What a perfect hotel- in heart of city below Nordstrom mall easy access to shopping and walking everywhere. Rooms comfortable and clean staff amazing and accommodating. During visit my son got sick viral- Ana Rodriguez our housekeeper helped with extra sheets and towels, and even ordered honey tea to our room to help. In front check in, Mitsuko got our room early and we were good to go. Marriot hotels dont always get things right- but 100% Gwen Hotel was on target 10/10 with clean comfortable room great restaurant and amazing staff. Will definitely stay again.

We celebrated both a birthday and an anniversary this weekend at The Gwen, and everything was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed at all times. Check-in was fast and seamless, and every team member we encountered carried that same warm professionalism. The bar and outdoor terrace were beautiful and such a relaxing spot to unwind. The signature Moët vending machine was super cute and such a fun touch, it really added to the hotel’s charm and elegance. The concierge team truly went above and beyond, we were welcomed with complimentary champagne and macaroons, along with thoughtful recommendations for where to find decorations, cake, restaurants, and local activities. They even offered help with transportation when we didn’t feel like driving ourselves. I’m usually the planner when we travel, but this trip, the concierge made it possible for me to completely relax and enjoy every moment. We’ve stayed in over 200 hotels because we love to travel, and this has been, without question, the best experience we’ve ever had. Thank you to everyone at The Gwen for creating such a peaceful, clean, and comfortable environment to celebrate our special weekend. Your attention to detail and genuine hospitality did not go unnoticed. We will definitely be back!

The hotel is generally fine. The rooms are comfortable, but ours was quite dark. The bed was exceptional and the bathroom is spacious (bonus points for heavy doors to the bathroom (no barn doors, whew!) and mega points for a separate toilet closet (which means there are two doors separating the toilet from your loved ones in the room :-))). They could have put in luxury toilet features, however, as the toilets are basic with ours a wobbly seat that slams down. The overall fixtures in the room, such as faucets or light switches, are run-of-the-mill, and there is no tech in the rooms (I had to source an extension cord as there are no outlets near the nightstand or within reach of the bed side). Rooms are kept up well-enough, though some wall corners and flooring looked a little beat up in the rooms. The lobby was impeccably maintained. Unfortunately, what typically sets a luxury hotel apart from the mainline ones are simply lacking here, and the experience didn’t feel improved beyond what a run-of-the-mill Marriott or Hilton offer. This was further reflected by both front-desk (check-in and check-out) and overall staff indifference. Folks were cordial, but that was the extent. Overall, the property is nice enough and serves its purpose as a nice hotel. The bed is exceptional. If you find a price similar to the mainline hotels in Chicago, I would choose The Gwen. However, I wouldn’t classify it as a top-tier brand under the Marriott umbrella, and thus, I would not pay a premium to stay at The Gwen if standard brand hotels were cheaper.

The Gwen is a great hotel in the heart of Chicago w/ easy access to everything you'd want to enjoy in Chicago. The hotel is very clean, rooms are super nice and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooftop bar on the 5th floor is a great place to hang out and enjoy a cocktail or a bite to eat. The food and cocktails we enjoyed were very good and of high quality. The couch layout with the fire in the middle makes for a fun environment to hang out.

This hotel is in a great location and boasts a rooftop bar. The rooms are modern and clean, but nothing out of the ordinary. Check in was a little annoying because our room wasn't ready until 5pm despite a 3pm check in time. As a consolation, they offered us little cards that could be used at the bar for a drink - but the amount on the "free drink" card was less than it cost to get a glass of prossecco. The bar tender kindly waived the extra few bucks, but who offers a few drink card that doesn't even cover the cost of a simple prossecco? Weird.

I’m willing to bet this is the best hotel to stay at in Chicago! We haven’t stayed anywhere else, but this hotel is great. Customer service was phenomenal. Sam at the front desk was so sweet and personable; she genuinely seemed to care that we enjoyed our stay! Our room was gorgeous, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. The tickets to the John Hancock tower included in the resort fee were also an awesome perk! We certainly recommend taking that opportunity. Location is walkable to lots and lots of shopping nearby, and close to the pier as well. Would absolutely stay here again. This was a great experience that turned a much delayed flight leaving us stuck in Chicago for a night into an unforgettable cherry on top of our trip!

We got to the hotel hours before our check in time. They upgraded our room and got us in several hours early. Chris brought our luggage up to our room and gave us a bunch of tips on things to do in the area as well as places to eat. 100% friendly and wish everyone could be like Chris. We've walked to just about everything we could want to do or eat in this part of Chicago, the location is fantastic. The room has been amazing. Very high water pressure and the amenities smell fantastic. Overall I can't recommend this place enough. We will be back and thanks Chris for making our first 5 min here at the hotel memorable.

Stayed here on my recent trip to Chicago and was so happy I did. First of all, it's pet friendly, but it's also pet loving. A portion of the pet fee goes to PAWS, and that's honestly one of the reasons I stayed there because I know the money I'm paying for the ability to travel with my dog is going to a great organization. Beyond that, the people were great. The room was very nice. The lobby was beautiful. And the location can't be beat. I've seen a few other reviews say that the elevators can be a little slow, but I think that's to be expected in a tall building with so many people going in and out. It's a little jarring at first to look out the window and realize the people across can see pretty much everything, but kudos to the person who brought the luggage up for letting us know about that ahead of time. I would absolutely stay here again, and I look forward to making that happen soon.

This was my first time traveling to Chicago, but not my first time staying at a Pendry hotel. I was looking forward to a fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel and of course, The Pendry did not disappoint. First off, the check in process flowed extra smooth with the check in host Muriel. She explained everything that the hotel had to offer and she made sure mom and I were well taken care of. The bell man Hakeem, extremely sweet towards mom and I he made sure many times mom and I did not get lost. The room? Wowwwwwwwww the suite was stunning with beautiful views of Lake Michigan and Michigan Ave. The stay was beyond fantastic and I am elated to be back very soon. Thank you Pendry Chicago for a beyond memorable experience!

I travel often and absolutely love the city of Chicago. When I arrived at the Pendry, the staff was extremely helpful. Check-in was an excellent experience. The hotel itself is nice enough; the rooms are standard with a view of the building and occupants across the street. The air conditioner was either ON or OFF with no actual temperature control. Our meeting rooms were accommodating and the conference food was absolutely wonderful. It's difficult to feed lots of people at the same time and maintain quality. They did a great job for the conference with food and beverages. I ordered a small plate for room service that was marginal, but room service is usually hit or miss. It was great for a conference but I can't say I would choose this hotel again outside of a meeting. There is no ice available for guests and no availability of sundries or small snacks outside of the honor bar with limited choices at ridiculous prices. Guest services suggested I walk to 7-11 if I wanted to purchase crackers. Overall, it was just okay with some bright spots. I would skip it.

Pendry was recommended to me by a family member for being a great hotel in Chicago, but I came to discover our two experiences were inconsistent. My friend who I was visiting Chicago with had called the day before to confirm our reservation and add my name to it, and was assured they’d do their best to have a room ready upon my arrival early the next day. I arrived at the front desk and was greeted by an extremely rude, condescending, and dismissive concierge (Muriel) who acted as if she was irritated I had bothered to show up for my reservation. She demanded that my friend (the customer) call her (the concierge) to sort out the reservation issue, only to dismiss her over the phone as well. I was not upset about the room not being ready (it was 8 am after all), but I had hoped to feel welcomed and perhaps encouraged to want to say in the hotel despite the reservation issue. Along with this, the elevators in the hotel were extremely slow causing guests to wait at least 10+ minutes to be able to get on one. The rooms are nice, but the hallways outside of them are pretty loud and distracting. The area surrounding the hotel gets pretty noise at night too, especially if you are facing the street side. I also discovered that one of our bath towels had a large hole in it, which was surprising given that Pendry is rated as a 4-Star hotel. Several days after my stay, I discovered that Pendry had charged $700+ to my card, despite my room having been pre-paid prior to my arrival and irritating encounter with Muriel. The person I spoke to (not Muriel) was polite and quick to resolve the issue, but the mistake was still annoying. In summary, I was expecting a more positive stay and experience based on the recommendation I had received. I would consider giving Pendry a second chance in the future, but at this time, I would not recommend it.

Not only did Murial upgrade us to an absolutely stunning room, but she also went out of her way to ensure every aspect of our visit was perfect. Thanks to her, we felt genuinely seen and appreciated—not just as guests, but as valued individuals. The hotel itself is beautiful—elegant, comfortable, and infused with a modern charm that reflects Chicago’s energy. But what truly made this trip unforgettable was the human touch. Booking through Amex Hotels & Resorts gave us access to those extra touches, and Pendry went above and beyond to deliver. Thank you, Murial and team, for turning our stay into a memory we’ll treasure. We can’t wait to return.

Booked through American Express Platinum’s “Fine Hotels & Resorts” and have been shocked at the poor service and noisy rooms. No assistance up to the room with luggage, room was not upgraded, we were given a room with known noise issues (room 604 mentioned in previous reviews). Communication was poor. Staff/mgt was indifferent to our request to move. Finally got to an even more downgraded room that is NOT what we paid for but just a little quieter. They made no attempt to make us feel welcome or compensate us for the downgraded room. I’m shocked this place is considered a “fine hotel” by American Express. We’ve stayed at other Pendry properties with no issues. This one is bad. Avoid this Pendry. Stay at the Langham (we were there on our last Chicago visit and it’s 10 times better).

It's as expected. You are paying for the name, hence the price. It's finger food and it's delicious but not superior. Its simply good to eat here and enjoy the atmosphere. Theres not many afternoon tea places in chicago. I treasure live music. It was lovely to hear the the musicians play nice renditions of popular songs. There was one error on our tea, They forgot the chocolate paint tubes from our tea. Took awhile to get a waiter and almost 20minutes for them to bring them tubes, half painted. We came to celebrate my Bachelorette with afternoon tea. The server brought out a congratulations dessert towards the end. It was yummy! Would we come back again? Absolutely. Its a fun thing to do a few times a year. The atmosphere was great. The food was great. I've heard there is holiday centered tea (halloween. Valentines, Christmas). You bet I'll come back for that!

The Lobby is a restaurant located inside of the Hotel Peninsula. I strongly recommend it! Please try the The "Pen-edict" it’s a whole lobster tail, caviar, toasted croissant, truffle hollandaise, poached eggs, shaved truffle. It’s in a category all by itself! My husband had the spa breakfast. Atichat our server and great personality and service made our breakfast extra special.

This restaurant is stunning. A real treat for breakfast and lunch. I've enjoyed both and my pictures are from both meals. The eggs benedict are freshly prepared with an excellent hollandaise sauce. My favorite lunch is the tandoori chicken. I would definitely call this an Indian fusion interpretation rather than true tandoori chicken. But let's skip authenticity, the dish is absolutely amazing!!!

I the afternoon tea service here for an anniversary and it was very lovely. The interior space, the service, the teas, and the best of all are the tea cakes and finger sandwiches. You’ll be quite satisfied from the food. If you’re looking for a fancy tea service in the city this is a great one.

We ate breakfast daily at the Lobby during our last visit to Chicago. This restaurant is an extremely beautiful and special place to enjoy a meal, especially the weekend brunch buffet. We had a wonderful experience all around each occasion and couldn't recommend the Lobby highly enough. This establishment is worth a visit for a meal or afternoon tea whether you're staying at the Peninsula or just visiting.

Went for afternoon holiday tea with my girlfriends on a Sunday 4:30 reservation. Leo was very friendly and attentive. We selected for 3 regular menu and a vegetarian option. I liked that there was a separate menu for the regular and a vegetarian. Leo checked if all the items on the menu were ok for us to consume. Thank you The Lobby for being inclusive about food allergies and dietary restrictions. When the food came, all vegetarian dish came on a separate tower so my friend was able to enjoy on her own. Here's what's included with $150 experience: -tea (classic, herbal infusions, or premium Asian) -glass of Tattinger Brut Champagne -tea pastries: wreathe, gingerbread man, chestnut candle stick, red velvet Santa's belt, and cranberry pate au choux. I'm not a big fan of gingerbread/peppermint "winter" season flavor type of person so personally, I didn't like the pastries. -savory: roasted beef sandwich, cucumber sandwich, organic egg sandwich, lobster & shrimp sandwich, and winter kale sundried tomato quiche. My favorite was the quiche. -traditional and cranberry citrus scones. Typically I find scones dry and not so tasty but these were good. I went for a 2nd time with a friend and a child (girl) on a Saturday for 2:30 reservation. The lighting was much brighter. There was Mr. and Mrs. Clause for free photography. It was magical. Ray was very attentive and professional. $85 child's menu included: -sandwiches -sweet treats -hot chocolate Sweet pastries were very aesthetically appealing. Servers were great. I would definitely recommend holiday tea for the experience.

What a phenomenal and magical experience I had visiting the Chicago store! I am only in Chicago for a day and I made sure to check out the store! I have been collecting for 11 years and this experience of visiting the store was surreal! From the unique displays , to awesome photography opportunities, this store had it all! What a totally magical experience for myself to walk through and immerse myself is what I love most 🫶🏼🩷🥰✨ I was so excited to pick up my Chicago patch to add to my collection and spend my rewards ! I had a handful of items and with all my rewards only had to pay $1.74 which was amazing! I had so much fun here and I would recommend it to anyone visiting to come visit the AG place here in downtown ✨🫶🏼 you made my trip thank you !

We took my niece for her 10th birthday and we were blown away! We had a reservation for lunch and it was well worth the $30 per person for the amount of food you get (1st course, main dish, dessert, and drink), plus a plate and cup for your doll to keep, a chair to borrow so your doll can eat at the table as well, and the napkin ring doubles as a hair bow for you or your doll. If you don't have a doll, you can borrow one in the cafe to eat with. She also got her doll's hair done at the salon for $22. The service overall was amazing and we had such a great time!

This is a really cool store any little girl would enjoy. They have lots of dolls and accessories to purchase. It is very clean and beautiful on the inside. There is an escalator for an upstairs section that connects to what appears to be a small mall. Yes the prices are high but that was expected. There are a few spots they can play with the dolls so that is really nice, and my daughter enjoyed being able to touch something. Staff were helpful.

What an incredible store! It's on two levels. There is a doll hospital and a doll salon. Each doll has her own display, with her outfits and props that can be purchased. I was disappointed that American Girl stopped making the t-shirts that say American Girl and the city that the store is in. I have an American Girl doll and I have two shirts from other America Girl doll stores (New York and Seattle).

This was our first time at this Chicago location and we were blown away! My daughter and I spent so much time browsing and enjoying the entirety of this store. This is by far our favorite one we’ve been to and we’ve been to quite a few of them in different states.

I bought American Girl for daughters. The dolls and the accessories are high quality and can be handed down to the next generation. My oldest child just had her first and I am looking forward to continuing the tradition.

My daughters were over the moon with all of the dolls and accessories. It was a bit overwhelming, I was thankful to the staff’s explanation of the store layout, as well as a suggestion of a doll that looked like our child. My daughter and her doll are now inseparable and thankfully the doll seems to be great quality. We looked online for a couple of new outfits and accessories for upcoming holidays and it was disappointing to see free shipping on orders $175+.

The Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile is an exceptional hotel in a great location that offers a luxury stay for a reasonable price. This was our first booking and it will now be our new go-to hotel for future trips to Chicago. All of the staff was friendly & helpful, and the room was clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. We were able to check-in online ahead of our arrival, and check-out was a breeze as well. They held our bags after check-out so we could grab some lunch before departing, and when we returned to retrieve our bags, the process was quick & easy. We especially appreciated that, rather than having to call for a taxi and wait, they have a dedicated taxi stand just outside the main lobby entrance, so we were able to hop straight into a taxi & head to the airport without any delay. All in all, a 10/10 experience.

The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood of Chicago yet centrally located. It's a short walk to the beach and the shopping district. The service is absolutely fantastic. The staff is friendly, efficient, helpful and makes you feel at home. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The bar, restaurant and other amenities are top notch too. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast. This could easily be 5 stars but the rooms are a little dated, there are scratches on the walls and some of the power plugs and light switches are not properly fitted. Other than that an excellent hotel.

Lovely hotel - there are so many upscale hotels in Chicago I find choosing one overwhelming. Ultimately, I’m glad I chose the Sofitel. Great staff - from the front desk to the concierge to the cleaning staff. Amazing location - very safe and upscale neighbourhood close to lots of very good restaurants. Rooms are lovely and clean. Amazing soundproofing between rooms and the hallway - you couldn’t hear a thing. Bed is very comfortable. I’ve stayed at the Ritz in Chicago previously which was lovely, but the Sofitel is much more affordable and offers a very similar upscale stay. I would stay again!

Got an email to check in online followed by an email to download an app for my digital room key, which I followed. As a Marriott Bonvoy member this has been in place for years and I’ve been using it everywhere. When we got to the hotel there was no bellboy available to help with our luggage. We had 4 large bags, a stroller, a car seat, 3 backpacks and a baby. So that wasn’t a good starr as we ended up taking all our luggage ourselves. Got to the room and digital key worked fine but upon room inspection there was hair on the towels in the bathroom and the bedsheet was ripped. I called the frontdesk who sent towels right away but were surprised I had a digital key. Apparently that wasn’t supposed to work. They asked me to go to frontdesk to complete my check in which I did. One of the staff named Daniel was so rude and unwelcoming. He was talking down to me as if I had broken in and tried to stay there for free and as if it was my fault that I had a digital key. When we come to pay the large balance he said to tap my card, which I did, but given the large amount, my credit card company blocked my car (we’re from the UK). At that point I was trying to get my card unblocked, my baby was screaming as he was tired from travelling, my husband was going back to the room to get his wallet to settle the bill and Daniel basically just ignored us and walked off. I felt like he was looking down at us as low lives. It was honestly astonishing. His colleague then took over who managed to get everything settled. But no one took the time to talk us through the facilities, to explain the charges, to explain the restaurants/ bars etc. for a 5 star hotel this was truly disappointing. I had stayed there before and I loved it so much that I wanted to take my husband and my baby especially as it was my husband’s birthday. I wouldn’t return now given the attitude from Daniel as the frontdesk rep. So many other hotels to choose from Downtown and I really don’t need that attitude as a paying customer.

Day 1 - during check in was offered to do a pay upgrade of $600 dollars a night for the presidential suite. This seemed like an odd upgrades to offer, because it was more than the cost per night of our room. Day 2 - requested new bed linens, towels and for someone to come look at one of the bathroom doors that was not latching properly. Engineering came to the room, looked at the door, and said they would be back. Engineering never came back. After 4 hours no one had come to the room with new bed linens and towels. Made a second request for the items and someone eventual came to the room with the items. Day 3 - request made for 2 sets of additional bath towels/rags. Several hours passed and no additional towels/rags. Additional request made again adding a request for linens for the pull out couch. New towels/rags were brother along with an awesome cart with linens. The gentleman did a magnifying job prepped the pullout couch. Gresy personality and conversation. Day 4 - ordered food from CDA. Restaurant is not available for room service, but could pick up and bring back to the room. Picked up order and we were missing an item from the order. Went back to request the item and was provided our item (croissant). We stayed for multiple days and spend several thousand dollars. It was our anniversary and thought this was going to be a good experience. Some of it was, but having to make multiple requests and habit to wait long periods of time to get what we asked for, made this stay other than pleasent. We have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Chicago area and have always had an enjoyable experience. This was not that at all.

This property is perfectly located to explore all of the north side of downtown Chicago. It is close to great restaurants and the magnificent mile is only a few blocks away. The room was very nice, comfy bed with down pillows and duvet. The housekeeping staff was very accommodating and satisfied our every request! Would highly recommend this hotel for your next visit to Chicago.

Over all it was a good experience. I think for being a higher end hotel I expected the rooms to be nicer. The a/c didn’t work in our room or in our friend’s room. We all slept horribly because it was so hot. I was really disappointed with the room experience. Also the fridge didn’t work either. The location was good and it was nice to be able to walk to most places. The service was good, staff were very helpful. The bar in the hotel has the worst drinks. I do not recommend going to that bar, I would suggest going somewhere different to get drinks. I suggest bringing your own fan if you want to get any sleep. The hotel also messed up my original reservation and I had to call several times to get it all situated and had several people disconnect my call before I was able to find someone to assist me.

The Chicago Ritz was a wonderful experience and one of my favorite Ritz properties we've been to recently. The space/building is beautiful with plenty of amenities. Didn't try the spa this time but for sure want to. The staff were helpful and fast during our stay and our Marriott status was recognized when we arrived. Rooms are a bit dated, but the location was convenient overall. We had an awesome time and will be staying here again!

The lobby bar used to be one of my favorite places in the city. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me REALLY disappointed. I came in with close friends and our children, expecting the same level of service that once made this spot so special. Instead, we found ourselves having to ask multiple times (often two or three) just to get basic items like coffee, fruit for the kids, or even to have our plates cleared. The experience felt disorganized and inattentive. It’s a beautiful space, and I still appreciate the atmosphere, but the service we received was far from the level of care and hospitality that used to define this place. I genuinely hope this was an off day.

The best hotel, great location,big rooms with nice views , we had it looking the lake . Beds and pillows very comfortable. Super elegant, classy design and decorations , very clean , good supply of coffees, teas and water in the room. Bars and restaurants have fancy, gourmet food, nice rooftop bar. We enjoyed the nice pool and gym. It was worth every penny to spend time in this hotel. Many thanks to all staff.

Had a great experience staying at the Ritz. Rooms are really nice. They have one of the best beds I've slept on. I'd imagine most of the rooms have a great like ours. Only complaint would be the shower. Shower head had little pressure and water leaked past the shower door making it slippery even though there's a mat. All in all a wonderful stay.

I am genuinely disappointed with my recent stay at this Ritz-Carlton. The experience was far below the brand’s standards. The pool was suddenly closed without any prior notice, and no one informed guests in advance something completely unacceptable for a property of this level. The staff were consistently unfriendly and rarely greeted us, especially at the spa, where the attitude felt cold and dismissive. Before arrival, I personally called the reservation team, and they clearly confirmed that our stay included a complimentary breakfast. However, at check-in, the front desk denied it. This is not what I expect from the Ritz-Carlton hospitality philosophy. The restaurant was also disappointing I asked for freshly squeezed orange juice for my baby, but they served concentrated juice with added sugar and were not transparent about it. It took too long to get an honest answer. Overall, this hotel fails to meet even the basic expectations of the Ritz-Carlton brand: warmth, honesty, and genuine care for guests.

I think this is our tenth time staying there so I felt I should review the hotel! We keep coming back here. Laurel was able to switch my dinner reservation to earlier by calling for us which was wonderful! Sonya handled our early check in which was so helpful since we were there one night leaving early the next morning. Overall it’s the best and favorite place to stay in Chicago!

Room is average at best, no luxurious feel as I would expect from RC. Asked for a shaving cream and never got it. Also got DECLINED (for the first time in my life) for 4pm late checkout as a platinum, they only offered 1:30 pm after rounds of negotiations. Have been told that the hotel is busy and late checkout out is subject to availability. However, according to Marriott’s terms and conditions, 4pm late checkout is GUARANTEED for platinum (and above) unless for resort/convention hotels(clearly not the case for RC Chicago). Other reviews suggest similar issue regarding late checkout request, please be aware if you are staying with them. The bellman is pretty helpful though. Already booked my next Chicago trip with Peninsula, will not stay at RC Chicago again (a place where you pay for 5 stars but get mediocre service in return).

Beautiful tea time with live harp. Amazing selection for teas, scones, sandwiches and small bites. I enjoyed my time here. You can also ask for more for the pieces that you liked. The staff was very attentive too!

Absolutely stunning. My wife has always wanted to go to a classy High Tea, since she was a little girl. Her grandmother that came from England would have tea parties when she was young. Everything was great. Food and waiter was outstanding. If I had to say anything constructive, it would be it was a little loud with so many people. Not unbearable though. And the other is, I would have thought Palm Court would had made a special gesture acknowledging our 25th anniversary. But did not change our experience. Thank you for an unforgettable afternoon.

My favorite place in the city for afternoon tea. Love to add a glass of champagne. The floral centerpiece above the fountain is a replica of the original one for Princess Diana. Love the harpist, it's such a nice touch. Definitely recommend if u like afternoon tea. The cucumber sandwich and scone is my favorite, and they replace the food if you want more of anything without charging anything more.

A group of friends and I went to high tea to celebrate my birthday. I was beyond delighted with the experience. The ambiance was spectacular. When my friend mentioned her food restrictions, they were more than obliging to offer her own food. Such a magical experience.

Luxurious brunch, brilliant harpist playing during our meal, the ambiance of the fountain was beautiful and the tea was amazing. I’ve never been filled up by pastries/high tea food before but this was very filling and delicious! Also plenty of vegetarian options

Palm Court Afternoon Tea was a WONDERFUL experience. I really LOVE tea and it was so nice to have so many varieties. One of my daughters was there and before this experience, she said she didn't like like tea at all. I think she enjoyed it more than I did! They also had a tower of small bites that were tasty as well. There were several kinds of desserts, small sandwiches, egg salad and scones. We thought we weren't going to be full but we definately were. I wish I could remember our server. He was 100/10! No, thats not a typo. He was AMAZING...attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and humorous. All the things that contribute to a memorable experience. When I remember his name, I will edit this review. I do remember he was bald, like my husband 😊 Additionally, you can also purchase alcoholic drinks from the bar. The room itself was GORGEOUS. The flowers were breathtaking. There was a harpist playing when we were there that truly set the mood. Palm Court Afternoon Tea is definately a vibe!

Old school flare with new school touches. Excellent location in the heart of downtown Chicago which made it easy to walk or catch a Lyft to anywhere you want to go. For those driving or rented a car from the airport, the hotel surprisingly has a free parking arrangement with a parking garage which was great to see. Extremely nice bar/restaurant on the 1st floor. The only negative for anyone vegan or vegetarian was the lack of food options from the hotel. Room service was efficient and friendly but the rooms themselves definitely need an upgrade. Bathroom is tiny, toilet is low to the ground and the water pressure was weak. That aside the bed was amazing and the little frig, TV with lots of options and ample room to store clothes somewhat made up for the bathroom. The spa! OMG! To put it simply, EVERYTHING was amazing: the staff, the services, the atmosphere and the magical robes they give you to wear ( we even purchased 2). Definitely visit the spa if you stay here. We will be back whenever we visit the windy city again.

Sheprice and Lauren are absolute gems! My stay at the Palmer House was excellent, largely due to the amazing service I received from Sheprice and Lauren. Their welcoming and enthusiastic attitudes made my visit special from start to finish. I had very specific and kind of difficult view requests, but since Palmer House isn’t known for its views this was no easy task. They were kind and accommodating and never got frustrated with the amount of work it took to make me happy. Sadly this is a rare experience in today’s day and age, and I’m happy I was on the receiving end of their excellent customer service. The hotel itself is stunning, with a history you can feel in every corner. But it was the friendly, personal service that made all the difference. Add to that a great price for the stay, and I can confidently say I'll be back. Thank you ladies keep up the great work! My 18th floor view was amazing.

Had an excellent stay here in this beautiful historic hotel. Once I got the elevator key scanner to work, I finally got up to my room. Everything was cozy and nice for an older hotel. The lobby restaurant and bar with the decorated ceiling is a wonderful place to spend some time and take it all in

I was really excited to celebrate my cousin’s bachelorette party at the Palmer House! The hotel itself is beautiful and full of history, which makes it such a unique place to stay downtown. However, the service didn’t quite match the elegance of the building. When I arrived, I told the valet that I had paid for valet parking with my room, but he didn’t take the time to check — he just pointed me toward self-parking. That was disappointing, especially since I had already paid the extra fee. Then, during check-in, no one mentioned that my suite included an adjoining room. It would’ve been helpful to know that from the start. Overall, it’s a gorgeous hotel with a lot of charm, but the customer service really needs improvement to match the level of the experience they’re trying to offer. Attached is my view of the city!! Which wasn’t a view at all

We arrived early around 7am and were told check-in wasn’t available unless we paid $75 for early check-in. The front desk explained that the fee would be waived if we returned at 12 noon. When we came back, Shaquille assisted us—he was very accommodating and made the process smooth. He also upgraded our room for a fee and surprised us with a coupon for drinks and cake to celebrate my husband’s birthday, which made the stay extra special. The room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Overall, a wonderful stay with great service. FYI: Hilton has a $25 per day hotel fee, which includes $10 credit at the restaurant, $10 laundry credit, and about $20 daily at the spa. We mostly used ours at Lockwood Express to grab water and soda.

We came to the Palmer House Hilton to celebrate my birthday with a little staycation. As a Hilton Honors Gold member (who knows the brand well), I was excited for a night of rest and relaxation — especially being pregnant, I thought the gift of good sleep would be perfect. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. The lobby is breathtaking, dripping with history and charm. You truly feel like you’re stepping into a living museum of elegance. But sadly, that “historic” feeling followed me into the bedroom. The mattress was nearly 10 years old, and it felt like it. Instead of comfort, I got a long night of tossing, turning, and wishing I had packed my own bed as a carry-on. Keep in mind, this was not a “cheap” stay. We spent close to $300 for the Deluxe King bed room. For a property with this kind of reputation — and at this level of the Hilton brand — the sleeping experience should match the grandeur of the lobby. The architecture deserves five stars, but the mattress and (lack of) sleep experience brought the rating down. If you’re here for history and atmosphere, you’ll be wowed. If you’re here to sleep (especially if you’re pregnant and just want some peace), you may find yourself wide awake, tossing and turning, admiring the ceiling instead. Also, my husband felt the same way, his back was hurting and didn’t sleep well at all because of the mattress. I will consider changing my rating once I am contacted by Hilton to rectify the situation.

At first our experience was excellent as the hotel is beautiful. However, as it unfolded it became a nightmare. The parking garage and carrying all of our luggage across far distance and across a street was a challenge with a disabled adult child. The in and out parking privileges we were supposed to have and paid for - never applied and we had to wait in long lines at the front desk every time we left to get a new parking ticket validated. Our shower head was broken. We only had one roll of toilet paper provided for 3 days and we had to call the desk 3 times for more towels, trash removal and T.P. and waited over 7 hours for it to finally be delivered. The concierge helped us with contact info for a motorized wheelchair and upon return of it to the bell desk it miraculously disappeared. I’ve spent numerous hours and frustrating phone call upon phone call chasing people from security to the bell desk to managers. I have been calling daily and it’s been over 2 weeks with no resolve except to tell me that they see on camera I returned it and that a different company accidentally picked it up but have yet to provide the name of the company or help to resolve this matter. Then upon check out we were stuck inside the parking garage where I even provided the attendees with my receipt for paid in and out parking yet hat to wait 15 minutes to be released after she acted like I was lying and called the front desk. Would definitely never stay here again!! For the high price, it surely shouldn’t have come with so many headaches. For a supposed luxury hotel it sure did disappoint.

I've never eaten the food but I've had many delicious cocktails. They have a classic daiquiri that is so lovely. Ambiance is great. Not necessarily very good for groups larger than three or four, though it is possible. The service is very nice. The Union Carbide building is to die for. Honestly just go to look at the building. Then also have a nice cocktail. All the cocktails are $20 or more though so something to keep in mind.

Had an incredible experience at Bar Pendry! The ambiance was classy yet comfortable, the drinks were spot-on, and the food was delicious. But what really made the night memorable was Isaiah, our bartender and server—he was truly outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, Isaiah went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. He even helped search through the couch cushions when someone in our group misplaced their phone—talk about service! Can’t recommend this place enough. We’ll definitely be back.

Crimson and Carbide is a good cocktail. The Mull It Over is a little too bitter. Cool and cozy environment with attentive staff. I'd hang out here too if I were rich.

On a busy and tiring Friday night, we found Bar Pendry on a whim thanks to google maps. We ended up having an amazing night here and highly recommend you come as well. We had the pleasure of having Anis as our server who was warm, welcoming, and personable. We greatly enjoyed Old fashioneds, the Chicago hot dog, and burger which were all fantastic. Next time we are in Chicago, we will definitely be returning. The service from Anis alone was enough for us to give this a 5-star rating, but the food, drink, and ambiance were all well worth the price and then some.

I really enjoyed my time here. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was really good with classy presentation and drinks were a good companion to the suggested food menu. Quite strong though, which is always a good thing in my books. It means they're not thinning them. I'd come back here.

Bar Pendry has the best bartenders! Erica in particular wowed my friends and I during our stay at the hotel. Each and every time we came in her drinks and demeanor were a 10/10. Shout out to Nick our bartender one of the visits and the wonderful Leonardo for his impeccable service! You guys rock!

One of our favorite buildings in Chicago is complimented by our favorite bar. Shaun was incredible. Excellent suggestions, attentive and a great conversationalist. We had a great time and will be back soon. Most importantly, we're bringing friends. This place is a gem.

Altwood is a hidden gem that delivers both quality and value. The portions are generous, making it perfect for anyone with a hearty appetite. Their burgers are absolutely delicious—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The salad options are equally impressive, with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced dressings that add just the right touch. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, but it did take a while for a server to come check with us. Once they did, the service was attentive and polite. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience!

Stopped by for breakfast the other day and enjoyed a delightful meal with some tea! The atmosphere is modernist and very clean, which I greatly appreciate. The American Breakfast was quite hearty, and my server Freddy gave me some good recommendations of my meal when I was stuck between choices. Very personable quality service, and will definitely stop by again! P.S: I enjoyed the cheeky plates

Lovely place at the Loop. Loved the Saturday Brunch, big portions quite yummy. The decor on the elevators outside is beautiful. Nice staff.

Had ordered French fries and salmon; the fries came earlier with a big portion and tasty but the fish came with a strange ton of onion cooked sweet and a purée of potato that from the waiter was sweet because it’s made with yoghurt! He couldn’t care less and left right away. My waiter was just ok, but had to wait when she will finally look in my direction so I can ask for what I needed. A little disappointed as it was my last dinner in Chicago and since it was raining close by; but too bad. And the restroom is downstairs with passcode that for many times I couldn’t get it right……hope it’s better for next time!

Ordered the Atwood burger and pound cake. The burger used those gray, perfectly round commercial frozen patties that i had not seen since i visited a cafe attached to a gas station in rual texas. Not the worst after they put sauce and condiments on it, but far from enjoyable. The $14 pound cake looked and tasted like sarah lee pound cake with cheap melted whip cream on the side. Im willing to bet my life savings that's exactly what they used. Maybe ive been spoiled, but For the location and appearance of the restaurant i expected much better. On the bright side Bartender was nice and professional

Food was reasonably priced and food matched. Just solid Americana food place. Service seemed thin and hard to get attention of servers. Waited 10 min our so and then had to wave to get the servers attention to get another beverage. Didn't seem interested ir connected with the job. Ours was not the only table having this go on per my observation.

This place offers breakfast and brunch option at least over weekend. I tried the burrito breakfast and cappuccino. Both were no highlight, plates are large and taste just average. Pricing is ok for downtown Chicago

délicieux! Visited on a Friday without a reservation and waited ~45 minutes on a table for 3. You can grab drinks from the bar and enjoy them in the building lobby while you wait. Loved the spacious patio. Mon Ami Gabi is on a quiet street, making its patio setting unique for Chicagoland restaurants. Service was exceptional. Some of the best I’ve seen in a while. Tried the baguette, oysters, shrimp cocktail, frisée and lardon salad, and hangar steak. Every dish was a hit, especially the frisée and lardon, such a unique flavor combination. One of the best I’ve tried in a while, would recommend for plenty of occasions.

I came here to celebrate a special occasion and really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food was excellent. We ordered the Collet ($30), NA Paloma ($10), Duck Leg Confit ($23), Petite Green Salad ($15), Filet Mignon Bordeaux ($50), and Trout Almondine ($30). Everything was delicious, though I found the salad and filet portions a bit small. For dessert, we were treated to complimentary Profiteroles, Crème Brûlée, and Chocolate Mousse, both to mark our celebration and as a gesture for a service hiccup. While the service was generally good, our main concern was the long wait- it took over an hour for any food to arrive. It seemed there may have been a mix-up with the order or a delay in the kitchen. Once we brought it to the staff’s attention, they handled it professionally, comped one dish, and offered additional champagne. We also tried to order delivery from Mon Ami Gabi on another occasion- and I would not recommend doing that. The portions are small and not worth the price.

Would’ve been a better experience if it weren’t for white butcher paper on the table top smashing into our hands every time we raised them and giving us paper cuts and for sneaky, unfair charges on the bill. We had to eat caviar with white construction paper bashing into our hands because they’re too lazy to wash the tablecloths every time? Really tacky—I felt like I was at a kids’ birthday party where you color on the table “cloth.” The food, except for the French onion soup, was underwhelming. Also, our server noticed we were out of bread rounds and brought us more without asking and then CHARGED us for the bread rounds! Then the restaurant adds a surcharge for you to subsidize their business costs, which is outrageous, but you can ask to have it taken off. They also charge you for the bread they offer at the beginning. It felt very nickel-and-dimey—disappointing when you’re paying $200+ for the meal. The service was excellent, though, no complaints there.

Mon Ami always delivers an 'experience'. When you walk in you enter another reality. The cozy intimacy and impeccable service are only second to their food. You will NEVER go wrong here, from date-night to impressing out-of-towner's it's money well-spent. I've been to many cozy bistros in Paris and Mon Ami is on par or greater.

First time at Mon Ami Gabi — and definitely not the last! From the moment we arrived, the romantic yet casual ambiance set the perfect tone for the evening. Cozy lighting, charming bistro décor, and a relaxed atmosphere made it feel both special and comfortable. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely fantastic. We started with escargot in garlic-herb butter — rich, tender, and indulgent. The French onion soup was deeply flavorful, topped with that perfect cheesy crust. I ordered a non-alcoholic Paloma, which was light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. The mussels in white wine broth were fresh and savory, the ratatouille was colorful and comforting, and the duck à l’orange stole the show — crisp skin, tender meat, and a tangy orange sauce that was spot-on. To end the meal, we shared the vanilla bean crème brûlée, and it was the perfect finish — creamy, rich, and delicately infused with real vanilla, with a crisp caramelized top that cracked beautifully with each spoonful. Honestly, the food here was better than some restaurants we’ve tried in Paris. Portions were generous, everything was cooked with care, and the entire experience felt like a little escape to France. Mon Ami Gabi is a gem — classic French cuisine, warm service, and a lovely setting. We’re already planning our return!

The steak frites were good but large portions!! Beautiful space. I liked the mussels better than the escargot. Delicious baguette.

Celebrated our 2nd anniversary here and had a wonderful evening. The food was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, reasonable portions, and came out quickly. All of the staff were intentional and extremely kind - everyone we interacted with was very welcoming. We had Liz as our server, and she made sure to celebrate our milestone with us! She was so sweet, helpful, and attentive! She even brought us champaign and a desert at the end of our meal - so thoughtful. Overall, we had a great experience and are planning on returning again very soon!

Incredible experience. Came in for drinks and small bites with friends and had a wonderful time. Food was fresh, decadent, and well portioned. Our service was quick and our waiter, Manny, was very nice and friendly! I will definitely be coming back!

Sunday evening with plenty of available tables, yet the wait for drinks and food was a long one. The view compensated that and we were not in a rush. The food was very, fish was flaky and steak medium rare. Since we stayed at the hotel and didn’t want to leave the building, they do have good variety just be aware of the wait. PS Parmesan fries YES, burnt marshmallow dessert nope (too much burnt flavor)

Calamari is really good. Must order but a little bit oily. The shrimp pasta is pretty good, the seared halibut is decent but the couscous (?) I think kinda smell. The warm chocolate cake is decent. But its kinda cold and taste like cheap chocolate cake. But the crumble and the ice cream is good.s

Great atmosphere, excellent service and enjoyable food. Everything we tried we liked, including the drinks (great coffee!). I would say the food is a bit pricey compared to some alternatives in the area, but was a great way to start the day while staying at the Langham.

Spent the weekend here and came to the bar twice, mostly for drinks. We lucked out in having bartender, Ryan, make our drinks each visit, in which he nailed every one. His talent and passion for his craft were evident in everything he served us, introducing us to new flavor combinations that were amazingly well-balanced and totally up our alleys. Very thankful to him and Bruce for taking such great care of us during our stay!

Travelle at The Langham is a very nice restaurant. The food is tasty and the place is pretty. The staff are helpful. It’s a good place to eat in Chicago!

This place is very classy and cool. The atmosphere was clean and sophisticated. The server was attentive and took great care of us. You can sit and enjoy a beautiful view of Chicago while sipping on some very creative drinks. Definitely a place to visit while in the Windy City.

Excellent infrastructure and Decor. The event was well-planned. The sound system was a bit too loud. Seating arrangement didn't allow complete view due to plant decoration. Children activity was well planned. Food was awesome.

As one of Drury Lane’s in-house seasonal musicians, I might be a little biased because I’ve been coming to Drury Lane since I was 12 years old, but this place is MAGIC. My grandparents surprised me with a season subscription one year for my birthday and never stopped taking me — now I take them to see a show! Drury Lane has always been my favorite place to be, it’s home away from home! It holds so many memories and is the place that truly developed my love for the theatre. The ambiance is gorgeous, shows and cast are amazing and talented, staff makes you feel like family, food at Lucille is delicious, and events here are carefully crafted to be oh so special. Drury Lane is a place that everyone should experience, whether that’s for one of their amazing shows or for a standalone event in the ballrooms or Lucille (especially for Holiday Tea!)! We are Indian wedding & Fusion wedding DJs that travel across the country for our couples. This weekend we came to Chicago for a Fusion couple getting married at Drury Lane. We loved the venue. There is plenty of parking outside. There is also a huge awning outside. It's probably bigger than most hotel ones. This is perfect for Chicago. Not only would it be easier to be droped off at the front door, it's also perfect for Baraats. This means rain or shine, you can have a great Baraat there. The inside is also nice and has a lot of different areas. We were mainly in the Grand Ballroom. It has its own foyer with doors to separate it from the rest of the venue. Its located right outside the Grand Ballroom and it has its own bathroom. On busy days this is really important. Inside the ballroom is very nice. The highlight being the chandeliers. We had a great time DJing here and look to being back soon and often.

Very nice place to go and see a play. The parking can be a challenge if there are multiple events going on at the same time. The facility is clean and very well maintained. The lighting, sound system, and acoustics are very good. Unfortunately, the seats are not comfortable at all. Seats are way too close together and are way too small, designed for a child. I truly love most of the theater production line up they bring to the stage, It's always top-notch. The Sunday brunch is very good, with an extensive variety of food. It's definitely worth checking it out at least once.

An absolute beautiful place. Nicely decorated for the Christmas Holiday. Just jaw dropping and stunning. My very 1st time there and I enjoyed every minute of it not to mention the Little Mermaid play was phenomenal.

I was there last Thursday with my friend, we had dinner pairing with wine for Chef series: Chef Murray and chef Gaytan did a wonder job for creating 3 courses dinner. I am totally want to come back and try some more food from Chef Murray. Also the service was fantastic

The food was excellent! Deliciously detailed dishes. My salmon was perfectly prepared! The service was stellar. Everyone was so attentive and accommodating! A beautiful place to visit. I was impressed.

Friendly easy going staff, not crowded, nice high rise view, and of course good food. Went here because of the review on Chicago Eater, top 15 dog joints. The Chicago style dog for $17 was an experience. Not usually my thing but it ate like a meal and came with fresh preparations of relish, onions, peppers and grape tomatoes. The fries were salted just right and came with a whiskey BBQ sauce that really tasted like it was made on the spot. The sausage was all beef and tasted as good as you might expect. It came with a seasoned pickle i had an enjoyable bite of and put on the side (after all there was fresh relish). I was good after the dog which was meaty and satisfying but figured I might not be back and went for a unique dessert. If you're into such things, but only if you are more into the experience and sight of such artistry, would I recommend this dessert: corn profiterole. Tomato creme with fresh basil and sweet merengue sticks with caramel popcorn, along with orange sorbet (which made every forkful taste better) and a cookie filled with marscarpone. I'll opt for the pumpkin sorbet next time, but boy was that extra filling.

Steaks are well made, desert is very tasty. Mahi-mahi salad is good and fresh.

Butterscotch shake was amazing but the service was absolutely terrible. First off we got charged for alcohol in the shake which we never asked for and I'm pretty sure it wasn't even alcoholic but ok. I ordered a beer and the waiter completely forgot about it. It took literally 25 minutes just to get our check and it's not like the place was packed.

food we got (charcuterie, broccolini, chicken, lamb) wasn’t as salty as we expected (read: great thing) but it was all very tender and good. although i didn’t think it was anything extraordinary. definitely a good place to visit if you have the pockets. pro tip: entrance is on the same floor as the four seasons hotel lobby

The octopus, halibut, and dessert were phenomenal, and plating is beautiful!

I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon and it was absolutely amazing!!! The customer service was fantastic! I went in the middle of the week during lunch. I ordered a strawberry margarita for a drink. Parking isn’t the best unless you opt for valet or a nearby parking garage. Overall, my experience was a 10/10. I will definitely be back!

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea- Disappointing and Not Worth the Price We brought our mom here for Mother’s Day tea and were really disappointed, especially given the high price- even more than what we paid at the Ritz a couple years ago. The event was in a windowless, undecorated room, with a DJ playing loud music that made it hard to talk. The drinks were “bottomless,” but we sat with empty glasses for 20+ minutes because the bar was “backed up”- even though the room wasn’t full. The tea kettle had just one tea bag floating inside, tag and all. The food looked nothing like the photos- no scones or sandwiches, just deep-fried snacks and grocery store pastries thrown on a tiered tray. No napkins, no linens - nothing special. Our server was sweet and did the best he could with what he had. Not his fault. But overall, this felt more like a cash grab than a luxury experience. Definitely not what you’d expect from a hotel like The Gwen.

Nice outdoor terrace for dinner and/or drinks. The food was good, along with the service. (They were short staffed and the manager stepped in to help his servers, which was nice to see.) The inside area has tables and bar seating. The outside terrace has tables and couch seating, with some couches equipt with firepits. I highly recommend making reservations for either one because you can specifically reserve them, and they fill up quickly online. Food is reasonably priced for that area of the city, and so were some of the drinks. However, wine and premium liquors were very expensive. Overall, it's a great place to go.

Awful awful awful!!! Avoid the high tea experience- our group left feeling scammed! Very disorganized, they had no idea what package we purchased and had to reconfirm it a number of times as well as having to remind them of our friends dietary restriction. We paid $120 A PERSON!! for some nasty boozed tea, that none of us was able to drink. Pumped with sugar and just not tasty. The tower?! Literally all deep friend and sugary snacks… we didn’t even touch it. It was supposed to be bottomless. We asked more for the savory items but they only came back with 2 of the items and said this is all they have left!!! Unacceptable On top of the $120 we paid PER PERSON! We had to order brunch food bc the hightea experience was not filling and left ALOT to be desired. Truly disappointing! Stay far away, spend your money elsewhere. People were all nice though

Had brunch at the Gwen and had a fun time. The view and seating area outside on the terrace was amazing. I ordered the Smoked Salmon & Bagel and it was delicious, highly recommend it. Nice hotel connected to the restaurant on the inside as well.

My baby and I went to The Celtic Knot and really enjoyed it! He had the chicken salad, and I went for the grilled cheese—both were tasty. The space was well-lit and cozy, and the service was friendly. For Evanston, it’s a really nice spot. We’ll be back!

Omg I LOVE the Celtic Knot! Authentic Irish food and the nicest staff! Every time I go, and I’m there often, it’s the best day ever! My favorite is the corned beef, salad with pesto salmon and the huge and authentic Irish breakfast! Best pint of Guiness in Chicagoland. Two thumbs up for a wonderful establishment!

We love the new Celtic Knot. The fish and chips are great with light breading and excellent Cod. The corned beef sandwich is very tasty, and the spicy mustard (ask for it) has a nice kick. The only issue we have had is that, since they have opened in the new location, the amount of corned beef in the sandwich ranges from overflow to not enough to cover the bread even when spread out. The owners are great and if they see this post we are sure they will correct it. The ambiance is lovely and the Irish music creates a warm and inviting place to sit with loved ones and share food.

Right proper pub. Rich was our server and was an absolute delight. He recommended the curry fries to go with our drinks. The curry fries were delicious and I ended up wiping the little curry cup clean. Great atmosphere with good eats and great drinks selection (and pricing!). Ideal for a happy hour or a nice, cozy meal.

Unique spot in Evanston! The hostess here is super nice and accomodating. Pretty busy but still a cozy and warm environment. We ordered burgers and had some good draft beers and stayed for a bit to listen to the live music.

So glad they are back and in a much better location! Best fish and chips in town! Fried pickles were great! Can’t wait to try the Irish Breakfast and corned beef!! Highly recommend!!

Celebrating a friend's retirement, this was perfect. The tea assortment was lovely along with the finger sandwiches, delicious, and the pastries, scrumptious. A glass of champagne was served with our nibbles. Monica was a delightful server and we could not have asked for more. The room was bright and cheerful. This is a beautiful setting to host a one of a kind event. If you are looking for a unique and special way to celebrate, High Tea at Torali restaurant, located in the Ritz Carlton Hotel, is the way. Simply lovely.

I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Torali in the Ritz Carlton! My cousin was visiting from out of town, and this was the perfect spot to make the evening special. We enjoyed delicious espresso martinis, flavorful seafood pasta, and the most amazing spinach & artichoke gnocchi everything was cooked to perfection. The service truly made the night memorable. A big thank you to our servers Ahmed and Albert for their attentive and friendly care, and to bartenders Ronald and Rommel for crafting such perfect drinks. Manager Daniel also made sure everything was just right his warm hospitality really stood out. From start to finish, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were exceptional. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The Torali Bar was an awesome experience during our stay at Chicago Ritz. The service was helpful and fast, and the options we got off the bar menu was super tasty (loved the cocktail shrimp.) Their whiskey selection was respectable and cocktails solid. Would come back!

Had my rehearsal dinner here back in September of 2024, designed by Agustina, and it was such a special memory of our wedding weekend! Truly perfection, and you couldn't be in better hands with Agustina - she went above and beyond to think of every detail and made it so easy for me as a stressed out bride. Highly recommend!

Nothing all that great. Food was just average. For the price point, there are better options in the area. Be careful when ordering the soup. It's not indicated on the menu - cup or bowl. It's more like a vat.

We came here on a busy day when everywhere else had super long waits time but this place had no wait at all. The menu is simple and has pictures which helped a lot. There’s a good amount of seating, maybe for around 20 people max. We ordered the pork rolls, shumai, corn dish, fried chive dumplings, and sticky rice. The pork rolls and shumai especially were solid and I would get again! The sticky rice looked really good in the photo but was actually dry, hard, and completely had no flavor. I would skip that next time. Service was good and efficient. you can even watch them chop up the meats right in front of you in the front of the restaurant. I’d definitely come back to try the pork or duck next time.

Low frills but great flavor and value! Items we ordered as of 8/2025 - Crab Rangoon (4) - 6.95 - Very thick and fully filled with cream cheese. I love crab rangoons and this was definitely a hit with me. - BBQ Pork Belly Rice Bowl w/ Sunny Side Up Egg - $12.95 - DELICIOUS! The pork belly was tender and had a perfect balance of fat to lean meat. Value wise this was a no brainer. 100% would order this again. - Szechuan Boiled Fish Fillet - $17.95 - VERY Mala so if that's your jam then get this! The quantity was superb for the price. Overall we were quite happy with our food and would gladly come back to try their other dishes!

I made my own noodle bowl: egg noodle, dumplings, bbq pork belly & bok choy. Loved their bbq pork and freshly made dumplings. Pro tip: Don’t get the +2 crazy spicy like I did. I ALMOST DIED. Lol. I was crying so hard. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I went to Ken Kee with my Uncle. I dragged him with me because I saw this place on Instagram and it did not disappoint me at all. He got the special for $10. With the special he got the Brisket Ramen and The Hot Lemon Tea. He said he enjoyed the ramen. I should have got it because it was the exact Size as my build-A-Ramen. I put bokchow, canteen noodles, boiled eggs, spicy beef broth(must try) and I added spices from the table. It was super flavorful and more than enough. Two people can share the ramen. I got the shrimp fried rice which they prepared perfectly. I also got the garlic green beans which was pretty good. It was definitely a lot of food but I wanted to try it all and I had enough to take home for the next day. I’m returning because they have a pretty long menu I want to try. Thanks

okay I just came back from HK recently so I'm holding this to a bit of an unfairly high standard but: -HK style milk tea was great!! amazing!! just like in HK, no notes! -BBQ pork & Chicken rice bowl (叉雞飯) was also amazing! I've never been able to find this style of chicken (cold chicken in ginger oil) in a restaurant in America before, so that was super cool. BBQ pork was also amazing, some of the best I've had in Chinatown. -my friend got the Seafood Laksa risotto, it was good! very full of seafood & seafood flavor, but a bit too spicy for my canto palate. -my biggest criticism is the curry fish balls, which is why I docked a star from this review. 咖哩魚蛋 is a HK street food STAPLE, but this one didn't cut it. not NEARLY enough curry sauce or flavor, and the fish balls themselves were a bit too hard, not as soft as they should be. overall, a very good place that I'll definitely be coming back to, but they gotta up their game on some HK classics if they wanna be the very best.

I miss Hong Kong food and this spot is the perfect spot. The nostalgic bold neon signs along with building your own cart noodles, it’s the perfect way to be back in HK without being there. The service is quick and efficient.

did the build your own bowl and it was sooo delicious. i got a noodle bowl with veggies and the broth was so flavorful and delicious. the spicy tofu puffs were delectable and soaked up the broth which was yummy. the noodles were also really good. so so delicious and i will be back!!

I normally don’t like to write/give bad reviews, but my experience today really hit the nail on the coffin. 1. There is no wifi here, unless you have a hotspot or are affiliated with UChicago and can access the school internet. 2. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich. You can see in the picture that there is a big chunk of bread missing on one of the sides. How do you miss that and think it’s acceptable to serve? The tuna salad itself was not flavorful and had a very fishy taste. 3. I originally asked for soup, to which I was told that they were out of soup for the day. Okay, no problem. But TELL ME WHY the couple that sits next to me (who came in & ordered way after I did) has soup brought out to them. I immediately looked over to the person at the register to see if it was someone different and if there was a misunderstanding or miscommunication — it was the same person who had taken my order. I really want to give the benefit of the doubt on this situation, but I just can’t wrap my mind around it. 4. I had an iced vanilla latte in the morning, it was average — nothing impressive. In the afternoon I had an iced oat strawberry matcha, which was delicious! 5. Bakery items are not bad. The hazelnut beignet was tasty, regular croissant was flaky and made well. The macarons tasted like they had been out for a while. Overall, it’s a very busy environment which is expected since it’s one of the few coffeeshops nearby and it’s on campus. They have outdoor seating which is nice in warm weather. They do not accept cash. Prices are on the higher end & not ideal. I do not recommend this place if there are other options. But, if there are no other options nearby, I would not oppose anyone in going here.

This cafe has a gentle energy buzzing throughout. The warm lighting and sunlight that streams through the windows on a sunny day is pleasant and inviting. I visited for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and was not expecting the line to be as long as it was. The interior is small and the line stretched from the counter to the exit. However I do appreciate that there is plenty of outdoor seating and therefore it was not cramped or stuffy while waiting inside. It took us a while to order because of how busy it was (about 10-15 minutes) but once we ordered the food and drinks came out promptly. We ordered the strawberry matcha and organic matcha lattes. Both drinks didn’t have a strong matcha flavor and the matcha itself didn’t taste high quality. I recommend you try a different drink. I do recommend the mushroom pie. The crust was flaky and the inside was warm and tasted delicious. If you order the ham and swiss baguette, know that the bread may be a little tough, and lacks flavor even with the mustard spread on it. I don’t recommend this baguette. Overall, I appreciate the plethora of seating with the variety of outdoor options, from benches to small tables. The service was great—fast, friendly, and very kind. There may be better food and drink options than what I ordered.

Had a veggie baguette , Strawberry matcha and a hot cappuccino. Definitely the matcha stood out and was extremely good. Baguette and cappuccino were good too.

I had a great experience here - I came to this place twice; last week had a really good breakfast. I like their food, coffee, and service. It gets so crowded from 11::00 to 13:00, and it's really hard to find a table. I like their outdoor seating, where you can set and chat conveniently. You should try their almond croissant and apple danish; taste really good.

They are just so rude. I get that it is one of the few nice cafes in Hyde Park and it is always busy (being in the middle of a campus) but the cashiers, the baristas, they just treat you like you are a worthless piece of crap that just walked in the place and should be treated as such. Otherwise, expensive but decent coffee and lunch, expensive but good pastries. The space is great, but there is no wifi and UC wifi reception is bad in the courtyard.

Very cozy spot, complete with outdoor patio and walk up window. Coffee and food were very solid. Menu has a good variety of options and service was quick. The cafe connects directly to the book shop when it's open. There's a decent amount of space indoors, but I can see it getting very crowded with folks studying at peak times.

Lovely staff / great service. The place is quiet and clean with big windows for natural light. The food is high quality but maybe too inventive for my tastes? The ham and gruyere quiche was excellent! Very, very cheesy - I'd recommend getting something else carby to eat along with it. I know a light flaky crust is generally highly desirable (and it certainly was light and flaky) but in this case, I'd actually have liked a thicker crust to offset some of that cheese. Unfortunately, the almond croissant looked better than it tasted. I also had a chocolate brownie because I was looking for a chocolate boost but it fell flat as well - seemed to have some odd undertones? And I would have loved to enjoy the rich sipping chocolate with the croissant (I suspect it would have made the croissant much more of what I wanted) except the hot chocolate has citrus and spices which I wasn't looking for. If you like complex flavors and are looking for other flavors but not necessarily a chocolate fix, it's a great place.

We wanted a local Chicago bakery, and Bittersweet was everything we hoped for. Samuel made the entire process—from tasting to delivery—so easy and personal. We even chose his favorite flavors, which ended up being ours too! The cake was gorgeous, delicious, and will forever remind us of our special day. We can’t wait to return for more sweet treats.

Bittersweet Pastry Shop & Cafe is an absolute gem! The place feels charming and welcoming from the moment you walk in. Their pastries are beautifully made — fresh, light, and full of flavor. I especially love their cakes and coffee; everything tastes like it’s made with real care and high-quality ingredients. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a quiet morning or catch up with friends over something sweet. Definitely one of my favorite cafes in the city!

We did wedding cake tastings with multiple bakeries, but Bittersweet’s quality blew the competition out of the water. All of the cakes, frostings, and fillings we tried were delicious, and the ones we chose for our cake came together perfectly! The cake was decorated beautifully and tasted amazing. If you want a custom cake that’s a step above the rest, look no further than Bittersweet.

If possible, I would give it zero stars. I used to come here often to buy almond croissants and coffee. These two days are my friend's birthday. I plan to order a cake to attend her birthday. I first bought a piece to taste it, and then I plan to customize a 6-inch cake. I was so surprised that this cake is actually hard, as hard as a piece of bread that has been kept for a week. I can't even stick my fork in 😅Aren't your dessert cakes made on the same day? Learn from other bakeries. Sell the $20 surprise packages that don't sell out on the same day to others or give them to those who are hungry and in need of help, instead of freezing them in the fridge and selling them to customers. Can you imagine a birthday cake where the cake is as hard as bread and the cream is as hard as butter? I'm really speechless and so disappointed🥲

I placed an order for delivery — and oh boy, did you deliver! My very poorly planned surprise almost didn’t make it to the recipient, but your efforts went above and beyond my expectations. It wasn’t your fault she wasn’t home, yet you made sure the package was safely left at her door. In the end, my friend received the package — and your out-of-this-world baked goods! Because of your goodies, her worries melted away for a while. Thank you for turning my last-minute surprise into something truly special.

When I moved here almost twenty years ago, this was one of the best bakeries in the city. My girlfriends and I would stop in here for a treat or to have lunch at the cafe. Over the years, things have changed but I felt the quality remain the same. That is until I visited today. I am absolutely shocked at how average the baked goods are now. The croissants all tasted stale and lacked the rich, buttery flavor a croissant should have. Also, a plain croissant cost over $6. I understand that quality baked goods can be very expensive but paying over $6 for a mediocre, stale tasting croissant is outrageous. It really makes me question if there's a pastry chef at all. If you go into the cafe expecting that you will have an average and expensive treat in a cute and sunny space, you will be happy. If you expect a high quality baked good at a reasonable price or anything like the old Bittersweet, you will be sorely disappointed.

It has become one of my favorite spots in Chicago..! Many interesting chocolate selections with great chocolate drinks. The staff is a great baker. ✨🍫🍪Chocolate chip cookie was a MUST. It amazed me sooooo much. Soft chewy center with crunchy edges. The taste had layers of depth, they told me it was a 4-chocolate mix. 🍫❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥European hot chocolate was a kisssssss from the sweetness. Please have it with their housemade whipped cream! The hot chocolate with chill cream on the top was a beautiful combination. 💛🧡🤎Bonbon was a great option if u just want a bite. Olive oil & lemon one was good for sure.

Small shop specializing in chocolate drinks but also carrying a pretty standard fair of pastries. Everything we got was pretty good, staff were kind, and the shop also has a good selection of specialty chocolate bars on offer.

I'm sure the Hot Chocolate is good on a normal day. We must have come on an off one. To start, our barista immediately informed us they were unsure about whether I would be able to have whipped cream with my hot chocolate due to having to make some. As a fellow barista, I knew this is a short task and would happily wait. They did not offer to make it, I had to ask, and they seemed confused as to why I would agree to wait. My request was thankfully obliged, as I feel it's criminal to serve this type of hot chocolate without whipped cream. I ordered 2 Parisienne. Based on the reviews and the menu, it is described as "sweet" "rich" and "thick". Not only was I served without a spoon initially, which led me to mix in most of the already sparse whipped cream, but I recieved what seemed to me to be a normal hot chocolate with a scoop of some 60% cacao mixed in. I wanted to try to get the attention of either of the baristas, since the sign clearly states to hand your dishes to them and I was concerned I may have recieved the dark chocolate drink by mistake, but neither of them could spare a glance in our direction. Since they didn't acknowledge us, even as we placed our full mugs on the pick-up area, I suppose I will never know. I have been to Europe many times and was looking forward to drinking what was described in reviews and on the menu. Please consider visiting yourself if you'd like to get a good frame of reference for a European hot chocolate.

Cocoa + Co is the most adorable, decadent, and sweet treat we all need in our lives. REAL chocolate is used and you can taste the difference. This place has spoiled other coffee shops for. Make it a casual drop in, or a destination from the suburbs! It’s all totally worth it. Thank you to the team for a wonderful experience!

My best friend hosted a Tea party at Serenitea Tea Cafe and Traci and her server Ken provided amazing service! The food and tea options were delicious. We were so are good and left full!!! There were so many good tea options to choose from and I had several favorites!!! I’m definitely hosting another event here in the future!

Went with a group of friends after one of them got a Groupon for High Tea. Honestly the service was great. The gentlemen that served us were very helpful and patient with us when we were choosing our tea, even bringing some tea so we could smell it. The sandwiches and pastries were good and fresh put of the oven when served to us. The scones were DELICIOUS. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I think regular price for what we were served is a little pricey. I'm glad we tried the High Tea with the Groupon and I completely understand that you're paying for a service. However, personally, I would prefer going on my own without reserving high tea. In fact, our group is planning to go back for more ginger scones, and I would love to try some of their other scone flavors.

Delightfully adorable place. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They were very clean and knowledgeable about teas. We had afternoon tea. Lots of small bites but ended up very filling and happy!

I had the pleasure of enjoying vegan tea with two friends at Serenitea and it was a lovely experience. Serenitea is a quaint tearoom on Pleasant Street in Oak Park. They have a wide selection of teas, including authentic Japanese matcha, wine-flavored teas, and many delightful herbal infusions. I had the Key West herbal infusion, a rooibos blend with tropical fruits, because I can't handle caffeine after 11am (it keeps me up all night). I pre-requested vegan tea service about a week in advance so Tracy, the tea house's proprietor, would have time to gather ingredients. We were served a pretty, three tier plate of watercress & cream cheese sandwiches on artisanal bread, herbed mushroom rice in roasted sweet mini-peppers, polenta rounds with squash, and berry scones with a touch of cinnamon with jam and vegan butter. The scones were the best I have ever had in my life, golden and crunchy on the outside, delicate, and not too sweet. Of course everything was vegan, however, if you weren't told the food was vegan, you would not have the faintest idea. My friend, who likes Japanese teas, purchased matcha and a measuring spoon. Serenitea also sells teas and tea accessories. Serenitea is highly recommended. It's relaxing and fun. Tea with friends is a soothing ritual that shouldn't be relegated to the realm of tradition and nostalgia. At $30, Serenitea is also half the price of tea at the Ritz Carlton. If you are in the Chicago area, don't miss it.

I have come here a few times with my grandma and we love this little slice of heaven!! I don’t understand the people commenting on here upset about the reservation process….every single afternoon tea I’ve been to REQUIRES a reservation. How do you expect to get fresh selections for afternoon tea? With that being said, food is always so fresh and delicious. A very well thought out service complete with excellent tea options. Reservations are extremely easy to make as well. We love this place and will continue to come back!

I love the scones. The food is fresh and flavorful. Depending on how busy it is, service can be a bit slow, but that’s because the sweet owner does most everything herself. We are patient. I was there to connect with friends and family, but noticed other tables rushing. Ambience is ok. Could be cuter. It’s a little cluttered since the pandemic - which is understandable. Wish l’d live closer, I’d volunteer to help organize the place for a dizen of her amazing scones.

I love the cozy atmosphere. The staff are so nice and welcoming! Was having trouble deciding what tea I wanted, they had so many options to choose from, all sounded good! They were able to help me decide on a nice naturally sweet tea. The food was also good! I recommend the scones!

The food is delicious 😋, especially the chicken salad croissant, the breakfast sandwich on brioche, and the spinach and kale quiche. These are some of the best items on the menu. The matcha is also very good. The waiters and chefs are always smiling, the place is clean, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Although there's usually a long queue on weekends, it's definitely worth the wait.

Possibly the best avocado toast I've ever ever had. Home baked sourdough, radishes, and avo (I also added egg)...chef's kiss! The pastries looked so fresh and delicious! I was told they're baked every morning. The chicken sausage and turkey were halal! What a gem of a place. Definitely recommend.

This was my first time here, this is a very cute cafe in my opinion. Its perfect for a ladies day out and a quick lunch. Their staff is amazing, they were so polite, friendly and helpful in nature. Special shout out to Nicole, she went above and beyond to wrap my to go dessert, as I had an hour drive back home in almost 100 degree weather. I also met Arshiya the owner, very down to earth and friendly person, she took the time to stop and talk to me, even though she was on her way out. I loved everything I tried here. If you're looking for authentic, European style croissants, that taste just like the kind you may have tried on your travels, I highly recommend you try it here. I really miss the ones I tried in Zurich and the croissants here were nearly identical to the ones from Zurich. We tried the chicken salad on a croissant and egg &cheese on a croissant, both were fresh and tasty. Their desserts are to die for, do not miss out, I tried the Royale, Paris brest and the mango cheesecake and all three were amazing. For drinks, I got the Parisian rain and it was very good. I recommend it if you like iced tea with a creamy taste. The only con I have are the hours, I live almost an hour away and would love it if there were evening hours too so I could come after work on a day with my friends 🧡

Love the pastries and coffee here. I had the beautiful pistacho escargot with the sweet glaze on top which was just so beautifully thin and perfectly sweet. I also had the turkey baguette which was simple but so satisfying. I was so awed with the pastries that I took a milk loaf home and cannot stop thinking about this place since. I cannot wait to go back. The main drawback was the amount of seating available. Additionally, the atmosphere was a little more work from home so it did feel a little stiff in there but I would definitely go back.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I’ve never felt this frustrated before. I understand that mistakes happen in restaurants—I’m in the industry too—but making the same mistake over and over again is just exhausting. I genuinely love your place—both the pastries and desserts are amazing. But I honestly don’t understand why it’s so hard to get my order right. I only ever order two things: a matcha latte and a grilled cheese with brioche. That’s it. But 3 out of the last 5 times I ordered, I got sourdough instead. It’s really frustrating to wait while I’m hungry, only to get something I didn’t even order. This has happened so many times that I stopped ordering from you for three or four months. And today, it happened again. Same mistake. I think I’m done now. This might be the last time I order from you. You honestly make the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had—but it’s fine. I’ll go try to find a new favorite somewhere else.

We had a lovely experience at Verzenay Chicago. We tried the Strawberry Ricotta Cake, the Chocolate Lovers Cake, and a Cappuccino—and everything was excellent. The desserts were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Strawberry Ricotta Cake was light and perfectly balanced, while the Chocolate Lovers Cake was rich and indulgent. The cappuccino was smooth and complemented the sweets nicely. Overall, we were very satisfied and will definitely come back!

The savory breakfast croissant is to die for!! Everything we have had here is always top notch. As a local, this is my favorite French bakery in chicago. They even have real flowers on the tables which was such a nice touch. Also, try the Rugelach! A delicious Jewish pastry, incredibly well balanced.

We were very excited to stay at Virgin Hotel Chicago for the first time, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The street outside was under construction, which made the entrance noisy and messy (something I wish I had been told about when booking). But the real issue was that the hotel had no hot water during our entire stay (yes, think about taking a shower with no hot water!). We stayed for two nights and reported the problem on the morning of our second day. An engineer came, gave us long assurances, and we even told them the exact times when we needed hot water. But by the evening, there was still no hot water. On the third day, when we checked out, only then did the hotel inform us they would “waive a certain amenity fee” as compensation—something we had never even heard of before. This hidden fee was news to us, and being told the waiver was a “benefit” felt almost insulting. We weren’t even demanding compensation, yet the way it was handled made it seem like the hotel was doing us a favor. To be fair, the housekeeping and turn-down service teams were excellent, very polite and efficient. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience overshadowed their good work. We will not be staying here again on future visits to Chicago.

Great stay - Perfect for Chicago Marathon Runners! We had a great experience at this hotel. The room was fun and comfortable, also included an umbrella,and yoga mat. Staff was friendly. Location is excellent - just about 4 blocks from the Chicago Marathon starting line, and only 1 block away from the mile2 spectator area, making it convenient for runner and supporters alike. Is also near to main tourists attractions. There are plenty of food options within walking distance, and the hotel's restaurant Miss Ricky's, offer gluten-free options, which was a big plus. Parking is available via garage or valet parking for a fee. One thing to note: the train runs nearby, so it might be a bit noisy for light sleepers. However, the hotel provide s earplugs, which was a thoughtful touch. Overall, was a great choice whether you're in town for a Marathon or just looking to stay near Chicago's main attractions.

Room had the usual "virgin" little bit hip, little bit odd but, still tasteful and comfortable. Like most downtown city hotels the room was small but, had a bedroom area separate from the entrance/ dressing/ bathroom part of the room divided by a sliding door. The door was a very nice touch being my wife and a had to wake up at different times. The bathroom/ dressing area had separate shower and toilet closets (odd fact, the toilet water was hot. Leaned against the tank to pick something up and felt the tank was filled with hot water. Never got around to asking the staff why that was.) while allowing for a large area dressing area complete with sink, make up table, and closets. The bed was comfy and the tv had a good amount of channels and preloaded apps so you could watch your own programming. The only strike I can give the room is there was coffee but, with just a kettle no way to make it. The tea was good though. Room service I only had breakfast but, it was fine. $30 for eggs but, what'cha gonna do if you don't want to get dressed? The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Not the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in but, if that minor coffee issue is my only complaint (there was a 7-11 downstairs, I survived) I'd stay there again if it were staying a Virgin property but, I heard it was sold and changing owners soon

I stayed here with a few friends a couple months back. The service from the hotel staff was great and they were very accommodating. I liked the location cause it was central and we were able to tour and navigate the city easily. My main critic is that the rooms were smaller than we expected for the price. Additionally, it was very dark in the room which could be due to the direction we were facing. Additionally the rooftop bar was okay at best. Love the staff though!

Very nice and clean room and in a great part of the downtown area. Good restaurants nearby. Smaller elevators and room, though, but that comes with being downtown. Very small lobby. Nice staff. Quiet and luxurious finishes. No issues at all with the room itself. My only complaint is that the parking wasn’t great. It’s a public lot next to the hotel and is $63/day. More an issue of the homeless people around my stuff than the cost/location. Didn’t feel the safest leaving my car there. The hotel itself was nice, though. I would go again.

Happy to know this property existed in the heart of beautiful Chicago. It has all I needed and wanted. A restaurant, bar, cafe, and vibes for days. Housekeeping; so courteous. Front desk; some people very good and friendly. Some had a face that was unwelcoming. Aesthetically pleasing and so much character. Sad to hear they’ll be closing down soon. Otherwise, I’d be back.

The service is pretty good and the rooms are very nice my favorite about this hotel would have to be the beds and giant cinnamon rolls they have. Unfortunately they don't serve them right now I think they are seasonal. The only downfall I've had here is when booking with a free night or using points you will not receive the upgrades like you would when paying out of pocket, which is understandable. The location is good but I prefer river north over gold coast. Overall this is a great hotel

Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago was exceptional in every sense. Tamas and his team created an experience that felt both personal and effortless. They remembered our names, anticipated what we might need, and treated us with quiet attentiveness that never felt performative. Traveling with a seven-month-old often comes with small complications, but the staff made everything feel easy. They helped us look for our daughter’s lost sock, made thoughtful accommodations for her throughout our stay, and ensured our departure was just as smooth as our arrival by loading our car with our belongings so we could enjoy a few more hours in the city without worry. The amenities were impeccable, and my massage was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. More than anything, though, it was the people who set this stay apart. The care, warmth, and attention to detail reflect a culture of genuine hospitality that is rare to find. We’ll be back.

Front desk staff are very nice, but overall the service does not match the prestige associated with this hotel’s name. A few things to note: 1. They state there are umbrellas in the rooms; there are not. When I asked the front desk for one, I was told to check my room again. It was pouring rain, and even another guest mentioned the same issue. There were no umbrellas available in the lobby. Small details like this are what typically set luxury hotels apart, and it was disappointing to see this overlooked. 2. The gym is very small. 3. The sauna is not available to guests unless you purchase a separate spa day pass. This seems odd and somewhat grimey. 4. Turn-down service arrives around 5 PM, which is unusually early. I visit Chicago often for weekend work trips and in my opinion, The Langham and The Peninsula far exceed this property in both amenities, room quality and service. Their staff truly go above and beyond, and their gyms and saunas are accessible without extra fees.

Without a doubt one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Could easily be in the top 3. We were upgraded to a junior suite which made it even better particularly after having a rough travel day. We didn’t want to leave but hopefully we’ll be back again in the future.

Beautiful hotel in the city center within walking distance of Chicago's attractions. We stayed in a corner suite with a balcony and a breathtaking view of the city. The room was clean, well-equipped, the staff was very kind and helpful. We had a delicious meal at the Brad Tack restaurant on the third floor! We spent a relaxing afternoon at the Spa. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel like a queen!

My stay at Hotel Zachary was wonderful! My room was perfect—clean, beautifully decorated, and surprisingly spacious even with two queen beds. The bathroom was also very roomy, and the shower had fantastic water pressure, which was a huge plus. The hotel bar/restaurant was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed some of the best drinks I’ve had in a long time, and the cheesecake was incredible! The staff throughout my stay were friendly, professional, and made the experience even better. Overall, everything exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely plan to stay here again on my next trip to Chicago!

The location is perfect, it has a long incredible history to share with our out of town providers about the uniqueness of the hotel. Even during a busy Cubs game weekend, the team has made the entire group booking process seamless and stress-free. Hannah has been an incredible partner. She is responsive, kind, and always one step ahead. Their flexibility in extending stays and working with our group needs truly stands out. Location for historic Wrigley cannot be beat. Top notch service and attention to detail. Spacious room and one heck of a comfortable bed! Surrounded by numerous spots to eat or grab a drink. Multiple places within walking distance.

Rooms and overall ambiance were okay; very comfy beds but didn’t live up to the hype/ reviews. This hotel is just like the Renaissance hotels — also owned by Marriott. Location is excellent for Wrigley Field. One drawback: very dingy towels make cleanliness questionable.

This stay was our third time I believe and every time we’ve been here it’s been outstanding. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and the vibe is on point. Yes, it’s a little more expensive but to me it’s worth it for the experience. Look forward to the next!

It was truly a pleasurable experience. Check in was easy and welcoming, they allowed me early check in with none of the usual inconveniences. Our room was immaculate, spacious, clean, and comfortable. The lounge was so lovely to work or contemplate life; the ambiance and decor felt rich and intellectual if that makes sense. I would definitely go back. Just exquisite.

Sadly, last time we realized that it is not the same thing it used to be. Over the last year we’ve noticed its decline in service. We used this hotel at least twice a year, and we’ve been noticed that the restaurant service is terrible, the personal doesn’t seem to have any experience in the area, the front desk staff is unfriendly, it seems they don’t have any knowledge about tourism….. The rooms although spacious are mostly uncomfortable ,, last time there was not bedside table either side of the bed. Ee needed to ask constantly for towels, and to realky clean the bathroom……. Is sad because we used to liked this hotel… The restaurant is neglected, the seats are broken and look old , and the restaurant staff isn’t trained to provide good service for a hotel that's supposed to be a 5 starts….. We left disappointed extremely disappointed…..

Good atmosphere & friendly staff. Great Irish food with the Shepard’s Pie being absolutely delicious. I’d have taken a photo of the Mashed Potato Ball appetizer, but I finished them before I thought to take a picture because of how great they were. TV has entertaining movies playing, if you go solo, & the drinks are poured like they hate their boss. Most definitely will be returning again.

The Mystic Rogue is the best! We had our wedding welcome party there and it was great. It was the perfect size to accommodate all of our guests (50+ people). The decor and atmosphere make it feel like a true Irish pub, we also loved the phone booth by the entrance :) perfect for pictures. The manager couldn’t be more hospitable and professional!

Our group of 6 or 8 would come from getting together and extending our time together by coming here because of the burger special. About $11. But when we looked at our bill we realized that we were being charged for small requests. You want grilled onions on that? Yes please, 3 bucks, burger with cheese? was $2. 5 bucks which was half the cost of the special. I ordered the pastrami sandwich. That came with fries or one of the sides below. I didn't get the fries and that was fine. But I was charged three dollars for the side salad, replace the fries. Ask to talk to the manager, and he had a depth of a busboy. I explained that we came for the burgers. Add this discount price. And we were taken aback by the fact that grilled onions and cheese wound up to be half the price of the discount burger. We were treated as if we were strangers and should have known better. Well, we do know better, we're not going back. Mystic rogue has now lost 6 to 8 people two times a month. Their menu is misleading. But you know, there's a nice italian restaurant just a few doors down.

We've been going here for happy hour for a while and were happy with food, happy hour deals & especially service. Today, that all changed; food wasn't really hot, nobody was offered water and when our bills came there were some discrepancies. The menu says you can choose fries OR salad - yet when the bill came we were charged for a salad. ??? The staff insisted the charge was valid - but if that's the case why wasn't the sandwich served with fries as indicated in description? Others were charged $2 extra for cheese and another $2 for onions. Times are tough but that seemed excessive. It all felt shady, like charges were being made up. Worst of all, manager could not have cared less and barely offered an explanation or apology. After a couple of years enjoying this place, we are done. Please do better Mystic Rogue.

BEST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!! Omg. I had a FANTASTIC time eating and drinking here. I had their shepherds pie and curry fries and oh my, so good I also had a Guinness served to me by this incredible lady named Eilis! This place was bumpin on the weekend. I highly recommend going for a bite to eat as well as grabbing drinks with friends. Thanks guys!!!!!

We are so happy to have this new Irish gem in the neighborhood. The food is great, had the Reuben, wings and Irish Stew all were fantastic, the stew might look better in a bowl though. The staff was welcoming and attentive, I believe we were served by Debbie. Keep up the great work and we can't wait to get back and try everything else on your menu.

I found this place on Yelp when we wanted a festive restaurant. It did not disappoint. The waitress was sweet and attentive, the food about what you'd expect at an Irish pub, and the live Irish Gallagher singers made our cold Harp and Guinness draft beers go down that much smoother. It is a very warm atmosphere, a great place to spend time with friends. So good, in fact, that I booked our party of 27 for the day after Thanksgiving here. The manager calls me four days before the event and tells me his party of 75 now wants more space, so he's kicking us out. So unprofessional. He should have simply said no to them, that the bar was full.

My stay at the Ambassador Hotel was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the nostalgic charm of the building, with its stunning architecture and timeless atmosphere. The modern touches of elegance throughout the property perfectly complement the historic design, and the vintage photos of legendary stars from the 60s through the 80s added a fascinating touch of history. My mom loved the chandelier! The accommodations went above and beyond my expectations—comfortable, stylish, and meticulously maintained. The breakfast bar was excellent, offering a wide variety of fresh, flavorful options, and the restaurant’s cuisine was absolutely delicious. Overall, my experience was outstanding. I look forward to returning and would highly recommend the Ambassador Hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and luxurious stay.

Overall it's a nice hotel. However they confuse customers with their fee structure. If you (like me) booked through a 3rd party then you will likely be surprised by the mandators $125 resort fee. I thought my room was all paid for and was surprised at the front desk when I got this fee. My recommendation to management: Just include it all in 1 price. You have a nice building and the total price is fine. Rather than get the negative reviews because customers were surprised by fees, just include it in the price from the beginning. Then you'll have happy customers and make the same amount of money. Reading through all the reviews here it seems that this was a common pain point. In the end, the hotel and the rooms were nice. The room I had was refinished...though it looked rushed. The carpet was lumpy from the wires the ran across the floor beneath it. The bed was lovely, the TV was up to date (which not all hotels have,) The fitness center looked nice as well. I hope they can sort out the fee structure so that customers arrive and have a positive first impression rather than the surprise fee.

Edit: The fact that management decided to reply and defend themselves with excuses and misinformation rather than professionalism and hospitality should say a lot to anyone looking at reviews. 🙄 I've stayed in high end hotels and I've stayed in budget hotels. This is the first time I've stayed in a budget hotel that was priced like a higher end hotel and easily one of the worst hotels I've stayed at. Let's start with check in. The guy working the desk both nights seemed incredibly disinterested every interaction. Then you go to use the elevator and it's a 10 minute wait for one of their two elevators for their 30+floor hotel. EVERY. TIME. We just started taking the service elevator because it became so unbearable. You are charged a mandatory $100 guest experience fee. Except on their website the fee is also listed as $90 in one spot and $50 in another. This mandatory fee gets you access to their mediocre gym (something most hotels offer at no additional cost), 6 bottles of water (something that should be offered free as a customer courtesy), 2 drinks at the bar (except everything on the drink menu is conveniently outside of the $16 credit so you end up having to pay the difference hence not actually good for one drink as it is labeled-they make sure you know multiple times don't forget your gratuity 🙄), a useless $10 dinner credit, and the worst of all-free breakfast buffet access. This breakfast was one of the worst motel breakfast experiences I have ever had. They have the audacity to claim it is a $35 value and yet provide a "Holiday Inn in the middle of nowhere" quality of food. Tasteless, watery and cold scrambled eggs. Cold and flaccid microwaved bacon. Breakfast pastries that would make the French go to war with us over. Coffee that is bitter, acidic and sour. Soggy potatoes. Honestly, the only think that was good was the fruit and boxed cereal. Lastly you have a $75/night valet that claims they park in a secure garage just for you to stumble upon your car parked in the outdoor lot on the corner. Weirdly, my dashcam is missing after my stay there as well. "Lipstick on a pig" is a good analogy for this hotel. This was a $140/night hotel at best charging $400/night. I wish we could get our money back out of principle. The city really let's these companies grift every ounce out of you with no repercussion.

My stay at the Ambassador Gold Coast Chicago was great from start to finish. They easily accommodated an early check-in which made such a difference after an early morning flight in. The hotel itself is beautiful, great location, and the food options were diverse — especially the breakfast, which had plenty of different options. Moreover, after checking out and flying back home to Toronto, I realized I had accidentally left my wallet locked in the room vault. The attendant, Michael, was incredibly helpful and responsive — he located my wallet right away and arranged to have it shipped back to me within a day. What could have been a nightmare turned into an easy, stress-free experience thanks to his kindness and efficiency!

I'll admit, I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews. However, our stay was perfect from beginning to end. The hotel location was amazing with a short walk to the beach and quick access to popular attractions. The hotel staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was a good assortment and tasty. Our dinner there was great and exceeded our expectations. The only things I think should be changed are the beds and the elevators. The beds are platform beds so pretty low to the floor. I can see how they might not be comfortable for an older person. The elevators are small and do not hold many people, so we did have to wait once especially around check out time. The lobby and bar are nice, and the hotel truly gives boutique hotel vibes. I am not sure how some people are booking to where they are getting surprised by the Daily Guest Benefit package fee. I was sent a text as soon as I booked letting me know of this fee and the hotel was very responsive to all of my questions even throughout the late night hours. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and would stay again.

I stayed here in May. Rooms were good, when checking out I was presented with a bill for my stay. I told the receptionist I had paid and booked through British Airways showing him the invoice. He informed me I would have to pay this bill before leaving. Likely my husband paid this bill. When arriving home I checked with British Airways and this had been paid. I sent the hotel many emails and the receipt regarding this and not one email was replied to. Eventually British Airways reimbursed me and they were trying to get the money back. I have received no acknowledgment from this hotel regarding this matter. Also when I arrived at the hotel a deposit was paid which I never received back. So my advice is check every payment and get receipts for them.

I love the Ambassador and the history it holds. The Nostalgia of this place is unbelievable. I arrived late from the airport and was able to catch a quick bite and cocktail in the hotel bar. Breakfast is served until 10 am on weekdays which is perfect for non early bird risers. This is my go to hotel in Chicago

Beautiful TeaHouse perfect for afternoon Tea with friends and family. They have well crafted tea menu alongside sandwiches. Their tea blends are unique and sandwiches aligned with English style. Reminded me of my time in UK. I got the cucumber sandwich and Chai tea. Both amazing !! Sampled the blue velvet tea (green tea base, lavender and blueberry, amazing as well). They sell teas as well which is great to have as a collection at home. The staff is very sweet and welcoming. Plenty of street parking and prices are very reasonable.

I have picked up a couple of times from here but I am so glad I decided to stay and enjoy a tea in the cutest store layout. My server Uliya (sp?) was so kind and patient. I was looking for a kind of tea that wasn’t on the menu and she suggested one I absolutely loved. I also had the cauliflower soup with basil pesto and it was fantastic. I will definitely be back to spend time inside. Thank you 😊🫖☕️

We just enjoyed a birthday tea for my daughter at TeaLula. I can't say enough great things about it. The atmosphere was beautiful, quaint and warm. The items on the tier were amazing, presented beautifully, and the tea was so good. Victoria, our waitress was so kind, and made this a wonderful day and experience. The owner, Shelia went above and beyond to be sure my daughter felt special. Thank you for a special day.

My girlfriends and I had the best time at TeaLula! The owner and staff were so kind and accommodating - They truly made us feel at home. Our little group gets together seasonally to try out different Chicagoland tea houses and I can speak for the group and say this menu of tea and food was our absolute favorite. We highly recommend Tealula and can not wait to go back!

We had an event for our dear friend that beat cancer and the owner and staff at Tealula were beyond wonderful! They even worked with me to personalize the high tea with a pink fight squad tea menu! Feel free to ask about it! Lovely afternoon and very special. Thank you!;)

We enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon tea which included an assortment of scones with fresh clotted cream and jam, various desserts, delicious finger sandwiches and bottomless pots of tea. Our server was very friendly and attentive. They also offer a large variety of teas and tea ware for sale. A great place to spend a couple hours sipping tea relaxing with friends or family.

This is a very cute tea shop with a nice atmosphere and kind staff. I came here at the recommendation of a coworker and I was not disappointed. I went with a friend and we ordered a pot of tea to share. While the original tea we ordered ended up being sold out the staff were very kind and gave several recommendations of an alternative tea to try. I have since returned and still love the atmosphere and of course the tea.
