GREAT variety of rare and not that rare pastries. Kiddo friendly place, close to a park and yoga stuff. The quiche is missing some flavor, the pastries are good looking, outstanding presentation, perhaps that is why the flavor is a bit dissatisfied, imo. Few coffees options, would like to see they adventure to mix drinks and pastries like a pastry late or doughnut coffee shake. Service is good and fast.

A must-visit if you’re in Lincoln Park, their menu is constantly rotating depending on what’s in season. The onion marmalade & sweet potato danish is my favorite, the honey pecan sticky bun is a close second.

A bit overpriced, but reasonably so as you can tell all pastries and bread are high quality. The canales are delectable and the perfect moist, spongey texture. The coffee was fine, but the pastries are definitely the stars. Their fresh baked sourdough is perfectly moist and dense (which I prefer). The seating areas are also perfect with a good amount of outdoor and lots of indoor!

beautiful cafe- lots of seating too! i wish i could give 4.5 stars bc the only thing was that i was not a fan of the coffee (and i am definitely not a coffee snob but something was just off) :/ the pastries and bread are FIRE, and there are lots of options to choose from on that end. i think the prices of the bakery items are fair for the quality but this is not your cheap coffee joint, which is fine! definitely try the ricotta toast or any seasonal items‼️‼️

Floriole Bakery is truly my favorite neighborhood spot — I’ve been coming here for years to buy their amazing bread and pastries. Their seeded sourdough is my absolute favorite — perfectly baked every time! The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and kind, which makes every visit such a pleasure. First sip I took, I got straight clumps of bitter matcha. I ordered it with almond milk and vanilla and the drink tasted very artificial. Not worth nearly $10. For feedback, I suggest sifting the matcha powder to eliminate clumps/gritty texture. I’m not sure what brand of milk alternatives + syrups they use, but I recommend using the Califia Farms organic line (good taste + clean ingredients), and maybe making homemade syrups or buy a better tasting brand to avoid tasting so artificial.

I visited the Lost Larson location in Wicker Park for the first time. I tried a variety of items: a cheddar scone, savory croissant, cookie, almond cake, and blueberry muffin. Overall, everything was pretty good. My favorites were definitely the almond cake and the cookie, they stood out the most in terms of flavor and texture.

Lost Larson was a chill bakery to check out. They had great coffee and pastries. I ordered the lavender latte and the salmon, which was fresh, flavorful, and a good portion — definitely worth the price. The presentation was also very nice. Seating is a bit limited, but the space feels clean and calm, which I really appreciate. The staff were attentive and worked quickly, keeping everything running smoothly.

My favorite bakery in the neighborhood! I am impressed that they mill their own flour the traditional method. And their store is super cute.

Lost Larson is our go to every single time we are in Chicago - which is a lot - w/ baby grandson. Their fresh cardamon buns ALWAYS make a trip back to DC ; even after having eaten our fair share of Lost Larson Sweets while we were visiting all week! Their Lingonberry torte is prima- as are the rest of their treats. Pleasant atmosphere to sit w/ coffee as well. Once I spent a few hours comfortably holed up there while a Chicago blizzard stormed outside; can you even imagine a more pleasant place to be stuck? Hot Chocolate & coffee, Almands & the aforementioned Lingonberry tortes- what a sanctuary indeed!🥰

Fantastic upscale bakery on a quiet stretch of division. Coffee is decent and the drink menu is fairly small, but where this place really shines is the fresh baked goods. The selection can get a bit sparse the later in the day that you go, but everything is fresh baked daily and once it's gone, it's gone! There's also a small nook in the back that has some merchandise including berry preserves, very nice chocolate, and canned fish.

I found this cute little place and the pastries were absolutely delicious will absolutely be back to try others and some of the breads. But I had the most disappointing iced vanilla latte ever. There was like 80% foam and barely any drink. If I order a latte I want the whole thing to fill the cup not an espresso worth of drinkable beverage. The food will absolutely have me back but I will not be getting coffee next time.

Can’t remember the last time I’ve had a croissant this good— perhaps Paris? So flaky and light, like biting into a cloud. The pistachio chocolate flavor has me a bit puzzled— it was beautifully made and well balanced, but did I like it? I’m still not sure. One of those flavors that has you questioning with every bite. That said it truly tastes of pistachios, reminiscent of the filling texture and composition of an excellent almond croissant, but pistachio. The chocolate surprised me a bit as it seemed almost syrupy in texture— not bad, just not what I’m used to in a croissant. (The picture is after I’ve bitten into it so you can see the green of the filling) If this review hasn’t convinced you to give Hendrickx a try, not sure what’s stopping you! You won’t regret it!

This place is incredible! We have been coming here for years. The best gluten-free bread I’ve ever had and their macaroons are better than some of the finest bakeries in Paris. It is a hole in the wall, but does a study business. True Belgian/French cuisine. Delicious lentil salad, almond croissants. Some of the croissant sell out by 11. I just happened to stop by here, and the staff were really friendly. You can tell they’re proud of their bakery! The coffee is really smooth and tastes great. There are about 3–5 tables behind the counter, so no need to worry about finding a seat😉

You want to try an AUTHENTIC and delicious croissant without having to go to France? You've found the right place. The croissants are absolutely phenomenal. The pastries are also super delicious and every item is fresh the flavors are rich. The service is also phenomenal, the person behind the counter (not sure if he is the owner) but he is so friendly, helpful, always willing to recommend the best food. Highly recommend!

I was excited to try Hendrickx which came highly recommended by a friend. I arrived around 9:30am on a Sunday and there was already a line of around 10 people. I got a chocolate croissant and a gruyere croissant -- two items I can never resist. They were $4.50 each which felt pretty reasonable by Boston standards. I thought the croissants were pretty good, though different than what I'm used to. Instead of being flaky, crisp, and rich, they were more soft and chewy. Perhaps this is just the style. I thought the chocolate croissant could have used more chocolate. For the gruyere croissant, it seemed like all of the cheese had seeped out, leaving very little inside of the croissant, so it made it hard to balance the flavors. I personally prefer layered crispy croissants but these were pretty good. I can imagine that these croissants would make pretty great sandwiches. The lemonade was very pure lemonade -- it seems like it was just lemon and water. They gave me a lot of simple syrup to go with it, but even after adding all of it, it wasn't particularly sweet. I also got two of the truffles to go, and I should've known to eat them immediately -- by the time I took them out of my bag, they were completely melted. I put them in the freezer and ate them in their new, flat shape. Even in this form, the truffles were very tasty and I would get them again (and eat them right away) Overall I did enjoy my experience at this bakery. It was quaint and they have a wide variety of croissants. My platonic ideal of a croissant is the frozen chocolate croissant from Trader Joe's so maybe I shouldn't be judging croissants..

Lovely staff / great service. The place is quiet and clean with big windows for natural light. The food is high quality but maybe too inventive for my tastes? The ham and gruyere quiche was excellent! Very, very cheesy - I'd recommend getting something else carby to eat along with it. I know a light flaky crust is generally highly desirable (and it certainly was light and flaky) but in this case, I'd actually have liked a thicker crust to offset some of that cheese. Unfortunately, the almond croissant looked better than it tasted. I also had a chocolate brownie because I was looking for a chocolate boost but it fell flat as well - seemed to have some odd undertones? And I would have loved to enjoy the rich sipping chocolate with the croissant (I suspect it would have made the croissant much more of what I wanted) except the hot chocolate has citrus and spices which I wasn't looking for. If you like complex flavors and are looking for other flavors but not necessarily a chocolate fix, it's a great place.

We wanted a local Chicago bakery, and Bittersweet was everything we hoped for. Samuel made the entire process—from tasting to delivery—so easy and personal. We even chose his favorite flavors, which ended up being ours too! The cake was gorgeous, delicious, and will forever remind us of our special day. We can’t wait to return for more sweet treats.

It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a quiet morning or catch up with friends over something sweet. Definitely one of my favorite cafes in the city!

We did wedding cake tastings with multiple bakeries, but Bittersweet’s quality blew the competition out of the water. All of the cakes, frostings, and fillings we tried were delicious, and the ones we chose for our cake came together perfectly! The cake was decorated beautifully and tasted amazing. If you want a custom cake that’s a step above the rest, look no further than Bittersweet.

If possible, I would give it zero stars. I used to come here often to buy almond croissants and coffee. These two days are my friend's birthday. I plan to order a cake to attend her birthday. I first bought a piece to taste it, and then I plan to customize a 6-inch cake. I was so surprised that this cake is actually hard, as hard as a piece of bread that has been kept for a week. I can't even stick my fork in 😅Aren't your dessert cakes made on the same day? Learn from other bakeries. Sell the $20 surprise packages that don't sell out on the same day to others or give them to those who are hungry and in need of help, instead of freezing them in the fridge and selling them to customers. Can you imagine a birthday cake where the cake is as hard as bread and the cream is as hard as butter? I'm really speechless and so disappointed🥲

I placed an order for delivery — and oh boy, did you deliver! My very poorly planned surprise almost didn’t make it to the recipient, but your efforts went above and beyond my expectations. It wasn’t your fault she wasn’t home, yet you made sure the package was safely left at her door. In the end, my friend received the package — and your out-of-this-world baked goods! Because of your goodies, her worries melted away for a while. Thank you for turning my last-minute surprise into something truly special.

When I moved here almost twenty years ago, this was one of the best bakeries in the city. My girlfriends and I would stop in here for a treat or to have lunch at the cafe. Over the years, things have changed but I felt the quality remain the same. That is until I visited today. I am absolutely shocked at how average the baked goods are now. The croissants all tasted stale and lacked the rich, buttery flavor a croissant should have. Also, a plain croissant cost over $6. I understand that quality baked goods can be very expensive but paying over $6 for a mediocre, stale tasting croissant is outrageous. It really makes me question if there's a pastry chef at all. If you go into the cafe expecting that you will have an average and expensive treat in a cute and sunny space, you will be happy. If you expect a high quality baked good at a reasonable price or anything like the old Bittersweet, you will be sorely disappointed.

DO NOT order a cake from here. My order had a mix up with two different people communicating with me about my cake and giving me two different prices. I paid in full days before my pick up date since I was in the area. I Showed the man at the counter the order number and the price I was given on the email. I took my receipt and was reminded of my pick up date and time. On the day of pick up my brothers picked up the cake but the person helping them said that $400 was left to pay. Mind you I came days before showed the man my order number and the price that was given on the EMAIL and paid in FULL. I told my brothers just leave the cake we aren’t paying $400 more. my brothers ended up paying for the cake since they didn’t want my son to have a grocery store cake for his 1st birthday. Now taste: This was my first time trying the bakery and I was expecting it to be delicious! It was not and my guest also didn’t care for the cake. I ordered fresh strawberries and the cake had a layer of strawberry jam. The cake was overly sweet as well.

We couldn’t have been happier with our wedding cake from Alliance Bakery. Not only was it beautifully executed with flawless design that matched my vision perfectly, but it also tasted absolutely incredible! The entire process was seamless from start to finish, the tasting was great, customer service was friendly, and the delivery was right on time. Alliance Bakery truly delivered both in flavor and presentation. Highly recommend for any couple looking for a cake that’s as stunning as it is delicious! 5 stars all around!

We selected Alliance Bakery for our wedding cake after sampling a few options around Chicago. They did a phenomenal job with the design of our cake - I wanted vintage piping and it was beautiful. The cake itself was delicious, we got two cake flavor/frosting combinations for both the cutting cake and sheet cakes for serving and many of our guests commented on how good it was!

Alliance Bakery is the best! We got our wedding, rehearsal dinner, and bridal shower cakes from them, and we received so many compliments on the taste! They also looked so great. The planning process was smooth as well, and I think their prices were pretty affordable compared to other bakeries in Chicago. We're looking forward to our next occasion to order dessert from them!

This bakery has been here for over 100 years. They are definitely doing something right. Great pastries, cookies and cakes. After 7pm the store is half off. Their cakes are decorated so cute! On the pricey end but worth it. Fresh and tasty. Also the store has a very relaxing let's eat cookies and walk around town vibe.

Drove an hour to try their sweets. Found them on social media. The caramel is so good. Pretty dull looking inside. Wish it was more bright and lively for the type of offerings. I’d buy again if out that way. I’d recommend them as well.

The delivery of the cake was timely, within 2 days. The condition of the cake was HORRIBLE…This cake had NOT been frozen. There was one block of dry ice on the bottom of the foam carton. I will NOT be able to service this to my guests today . Shameful for $79.00. Just a waste.. nothing like the shipping noted on the website.

Do not go here for anything important. They completely botched my birthday cakes. I ordered two cakes and specifically requested that they both say “happy birthday” on them and that the red velvet does not contain nuts due to an allergy. When my friend arrives at the bakery to pick up the cakes, not only does neither cake say “happy birthday”, but the red velvet is COVERED in nuts. When we ordered the cakes online, we specifically wrote in the comments box to not include nuts due to an allergy. When my friend told the bakery staff this, they said “we didn’t read the comments on your order.” Why in the world would the bakery staff not read the complete order, especially considering there is an allergy involved?? To add insult to injury, the owner’s fix for this major problem was to give me six cupcakes when I spent over $100 on these cakes. I am hosting a party for over 50 people. Six cupcakes does nothing for me. Had the owner said “we are so sorry for this massive mix up. We will make you another cake straight away and will not charge you due to our mistake”, I might have been inclined to patronize this place again. Unfortunately, the complete lack of competence, service, or care has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I will not be returning here again and I suggest you take your money elsewhere.

I saw the reviews on Facebook along with the various accolades this shop received, so I decided to give it a try. I bought the keep lime cheesecake and a slice of the Obama cake. The cheesecake was ok. I believe it would have tasted better if it was freshly made.(I would like to frequent the store when the items are made that day.) The staff were friendly. Overall my experience was adequate.

A deceptively, simple and spare storefront with the most amazing cakes, cookies, banana, pudding, and other incredible baked products. Their caramel cake is an excuse for a party! The staff is super nice, very helpful and not at all pushy, that said you’ll end up with a car full of baked goods by the time you leave! Highly recommend.

In my opinion Kasama is overrated. There were some good, some ok and some not so great. We order the chicken adobo, filipino breakfast, breakfast sandwich, and 3 drinks with totaled to ~96. The chicken adobo was the crowd pleaser. The chicken was juicy, the coconut crust added some sweetness and was balanced. The filipino breakfast was fine. There wasn’t a WOW factor. The breakfast sandwich was SALTY. I had to pass it off because it was too salty and all the components were too soft. The ube coconut latte was good but i wished there was more ube and coconut flavor. We got there at 9am on a Wednesday and waited 50 mins to be seated. I would say get takeout next time if you want to try. But the price and wait time makes this restaurant overhyped to me.

One of our favorite breakfast spots in Chicago! Our regular orders are the Filipino breakfast with longanisa and tocino, and the breakfast sandwich with longanisa, egg, and cheese, so flavorful and comforting. The Black Truffle Croissant alone is worth the trip, it truly sets the bar for all pastries. 🤌 The Banana Tart had the perfect texture and sweetness, we even ordered it in large format. Every visit reminds us why Kasama is in a league of its own. 🩵✨🙌

The number one spot for Filipino Cuisine! You need to be there before they open, we got there 10 mins before and there was a small line. They close dinner for reservations only! As a half Filipino, I felt very welcomed. The atmosphere was homey and I recognize all the food options! I had a Calamansi mimosa, as well as the Ube Cappuccino. Both very delicious! I had Chicken adobo, very unique flavoring and the rice was so good! It felt like sushi rice but without the fish flavoring. Had a takeout of a bread with a protein on top, it was so good! My friend had the Filipino breakfast and all aspects of it were delicious! You would never expect this to be a 3 ⭐️ Michelin restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised.

Went for the breakfast sandwich Syd had The Bear and it did not disappoint! The patty was super flavorful and the texture of it with the egg and hash brown was divine! Brought a few bakery items home and we loved them too. Prepare to wait a while in line and the inside decor is quaint. I only took off a star since they gave us the sandwiches wrapped to go as we were seated rather than as a seared dining experience with silverware. Otherwise, would go back but likely order to go.

Came for for the famous longanisa breakfast sandwich and you know what? It was worth the hype. The texture and sweetness of the longanisa paired beautifully in this with the other ingredients. I’d recommend adding a hash brown to it to finish round off the flavours. We also sampled a black truffle croissant that was PHENOMENAL. HIGHLY recommend this. The ube huckleberry tart was well made but just okay, tasted more of the berry than ube. I mean, it was still really good and I ate the whole thing. Drinks were yummy and not too sweet, we got the iced oh hot yam and iced black sesame lattes. I hate lines and avoid them at all costs. If you’re the same, I’d recommend ordering on the app when they open for takeout. You get to skip the long line outside that’s waiting for dine-in and go to the front right away.

Ok if there’s only one restaurant that I can recommend in Chicago, it’s Kasama (trust me this is the highest level of praise that I’m capable of) The black truffle croissant changed my life - for better or worse. The better: it’s the best I have ever had - it’s flakey, buttery, sweet but not overpowering, truffle custard paired with fresh truffle flakes makes this a next-level dessert / pastry / breakfast. The worse: ruined ALL other croissants for me. Haven’t had better anywhere else. Pro tip (from my local friend): order take out vs. wait in line for 2hrs+ I can’t wait to go back!

I thoroughly enjoyed dining at this Michelin Star Filipino restaurant! The food and desserts were well worth the hour and a half wait outside (in the cold nonetheless) — we made some friends in the process. I would recommend that you try to go on a weekday to avoid the crowded weekend rush. After stepping inside, we were greeted by the friendly wait staff and placed our order. This place was packed, but we only waited about 10 minutes before a table opened. Luckily, we were able to place our order before being seated, and so it was a short wait before our initial food and drinks arrived. We tried the salted caramel chocolate tart and the brownie before having the main course — chicken adobo and the Filipino breakfast. So tasty! The friendly people sitting next to us even let us try some of their food (lumpia and Kasama combo sandwich). It was a delicious fast and we left satisfied on a cold day. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.

Where do I even begin? This stop has been on my ever growing list of places to check out for a while. We came on Friday at 5pm. Easy parking in the lot right next to the building. The shop is absolutely adorable and a true time capsule. The cases still had lots of options even an hour before closing. We got a variety of things, I only have photos of mine. Shown are donuts and a lemon bar. Everything was amazing! I highly recommend stopping here and trying a few things when you can. I'd love to get some ice cream next time!

Wonderful workers very helpful. The churro donut is an absolute gamechanger. The cannoli was a top tier Chicago pastry. Hard to top these one anywhere in the city and burbs. Also got a beautiful Chicago Bears cookie was was light and tasty and made up for me missing out on the free hor dogs at wieners circle!!

OK so I will say that I’ve never heard of Roeser’s before I looked them up online when I searched “Best ice cream cakes in Chicago.” Not only did they pop up under that search, but under “ Best cakes in Chicago” period! You know what…. They didn’t disappoint!! Of course it makes sense when you understand the history! Let’s break it down…. Turns out this place has been around since 1911!! that’s right, this place is well over 100 years old! It was founded by the late John Roeser Sr and his wife, Hattie. They both ran the shop for over 60 years. That’s insane! As of today, I believe they are the oldest family bakery in the city! Of course you can see why when you walk in. Upon arrival, it immediately harken me back to my days when I lived in NYC. When there were no big box corporate chains like Jewel Osco or Marianos who had their own multibillion dollar bakeries. This is just a good ole Mom and Pop bakery that is still alive and kicking! Regarding the my cake, I ordered the Cookies and Cream Oreo ice cream and it was to die for! It was for a special occasion and the bakery, get a very good job of getting the lettering right! My only critique is I have to give them a knock on the customer service side for one reason: the wait time was pretty ridiculous considering how small the crowd was. Especially considering I had already paid for the cake in advance. A solution to the problem would be for the bakery to set up a “Prepaid Pickup” area. I think this will be worthwhile not only for folks like myself, but also for delivery drivers like DoorDash, GrubHub and Ubereats. The fact that it took me 20-30 minutes to get my prepaid cake when only four people were in front of me I found a bit preposterous. If it wasn’t for this, they would get a five out of five. Overall, I would highly recommend Roeser’s Bakery. When they say is the best in Chicago, they aren’t kidding. Don’t believe me? Go give them a shot! Just make sure you have plenty of wait time. LOL! Other than that, Roeser’s Bakery is where it’s at!!! :-)

I’ve been getting my cakes here since I was child. Unfortunately I became gluten intolerant recently. Yet, they were able to make me a flourless cake. It was a 6-inch brownie cake as you can see but it was truly delicious and I’m just so happy they were able to be accommodating. My friends and I enjoyed my cake since they too are gluten free. Thank you!

Definitely the BEST tiramisu I’ve ever had, incredibly light, fluffy, and full of flavor. I’ve tried tiramisu from homemade recipes to desserts in Italy, and this one truly hits the spot. Highly recommend this bakery!

The cake I ordered was suppose to have the cow on one side with my granddaughter’s picture on the other side and it was not done that way. It only had the picture of my granddaughter but mind you the lady that took my order showed me the picture of the cake with the cow. I was told there was a miscommunication on my part and that was the solution. Not at all the customer service that should’ve been provided. They offered to take the top layer off & frost it again while I waited which was also unacceptable because I didn’t have time to wait for them to redo the cake that they messed up. They could’ve offered me some of my money back but didn’t. Instead they were rude and said there was nothing else they could do for me. Very unprofessional!

First time here. Was pretty busy, but I'm sure that's normal for a Saturday early afternoon. Love that they have their own small parking lot. The service was friendly and helpful and was managing to take care of everyone ordering. I tried to get a little bit of everything to try the donuts and pastries, and the only thing I forgot to get was the ice cream. Everything was fresh and delicious. Would recommend and will be back.

Aya Pastry in West Town is a hidden gem for pastry lovers. Their almond croissant is a standout—flaky, buttery, and filled with rich almond paste. On my visit, I also tried the Kouign Amann, which was decadently sweet and caramelized to perfection. I spent about $10 for these two pastries, and they were well worth every penny. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area! ​

This is a cute, floral pastry shop in West Town with good, but pretty expensive pastries, cakes, breads, jams, olive oils, and other items. It is takeout only, with no indoor seating. For cakes, consider ordering online rather than in-store for a wider selection. The pastry in-store selection was a little limited too, with less selections than I expected. I got a slice of Banana Bread and a Peanut Butter Chocolate Croissant. While the banana bread was mediocre— a little dry, not too flavorful or special— the croissant was wonderful and delicious. After having lunch at Tempesta, we decided to make a dessert stop here. We ordered a cinnamon roll and Cinnamon Banana Bread, both of which were incredibly delicious. Personally, I found the banana bread to be the standout between the two. The service was excellent, and I'll surely be returning here in the future.

Extremely well made croissants. Highly recommend stopping by at the bakery! I have how ordered from this place twice and cannot say enough about not only their safety protocol but also their ability to make the best croissants and breads in town! Cute Japanese bakery. Schokopans (bread) and Samoa (dessert) are specifically recommended. If you go before 9am on Sunday, they serve from to-go window in the parking lot. Service is a bit slow :/

I got the Everything Spice Epi, Baguette, Miso Sesame Butter, Samoa Cake, and Tart Cherry Galette. Everything was delicious! Samoa Cake and Cherry Galette were super scaled back in sweetness (which I like, not too sweet). The breads were fantastic and the Epi is the perfect takeaway snack.

Whole sale & retail bakery supplier turned into a neighborhood gourmet bakery and a pastry shop. What a great addition to West Town. Best to show up earlier in the day. I went around 3:00 pm in the afternoon and as you can tell from the pictures everything was pretty much gone. Other than few pastries and cookies with longer shelf life most bread loaves & baguettes 🥖 were sold out. I got few pastries and a savory scallion biscuit which was divine. They have a cake version of the Samoa girl scout cookies, I'm afraid it could get addictive just like the Samoa cookies, can't have just one. Finally, go there to check out the life size Gingerbread house they have made around their entrance which you have to go through to get in the bakery. Totally recommend!!!

I've been coming to Bang Bang Pies for about 12 years! It's one of my favorite places to talk about and visit when I come through Chicago. It has evolved over time, but thankfully has maintained its delicious staples: homemade biscuits, butter, jam, and cheese grits. It’s a great stop, especially for bringing out-of-town visitors. The menu is simple, the prices are reasonable, and there's always friendly service. There’s seating inside and a nice courtyard with seating outside. And their pies are the best I've had in the city. Order early for those!

Fun cozy spot with some tasty bites! The sausage biscuit was amazing, the biscuit really stole the show though. The cup of grits came as a bowl of grits and were alright. The key lime pie was perfect - not too sweet, not too tart. The service was so kind and inviting. The inside seating section is decent but they also have a great big outdoor section with picnic tables and a fence to make it feel more secluded. Love this spot!

Absolutely hands down best pie I’ve ever had. We ordered a very specific pie that is only in season once a year for a few weeks and Shannon and her whole team went out of their way to get this pie done for me. It had a very sentimental meaning to it and the team really went so far above and beyond to make sure they were able to get this pie done. I will forever be coming back to get any future pie with them. It was absolutely delicious beyond expectations.

Amazing homemade pies. Flavors change often. Key Lime was so tart and delicious. The Honey pie was sweet and fresh fruit on top while the S’Mores pie was chocolate heaven.

This place is a gem. We really enjoyed our Baklava Cheesecake pie and savory pickled beet arugula salad on this frigid morning. The staff was super friendly, and overall, a lovely vibe. The inside is quite small so I’m excited to come back when it is warm outside to take advantage of their patio. I was appreciative of the changing table in the bathroom as well.

You need to go out of your way to come here! I had an amazing savory biscuit with scrambled eggs. The biscuit was thick, buttery, and flaky. The key lime pie was great, but not perfect. I will be back when it’s warmer to try other pie flavors and enjoy their back patio.

We were happy to find this cozy and pleasant pastry shop. It was a 50 min walk from where we were, but it was worth it to escape the boring and plain touristic options we saw around the hotels around the Loop. You open the doors and immediatly smell the aromas of good butter and flour. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We loved the croissants and we ordered a loaf of bread to take back to St Louis, and it tasted great next morning! The coffee is not the greatest, but it is ok.

Excellent service, excellent croissant! Very good coconut macaroon, light and crisp. The madeleines we're not for me, too soft and flavor not on point. The quiche was also surprisingly strange. It was a rectangle slice from a sheet pan and had no height. Seems like a solid bread/croissant bakery overall.

Everything I’ve ordered from this French bakery has been excellent, but I highly recommend the chocolate pound cake slices. While pound cake can sometimes be dry, their slices will melt in your mouth! Baked to perfection! Add berries and some whipped cream when you get home and you’ll have a wonderful dessert. 😜

The Vegetable quiche was the best we've ever had. Also the most unique. Very buttery crust and the vegetables (celery, onion, carrot, zucchini) give it this delicious thanksgiving stuffing aroma (probably a little sage in there too). Perfect texture on the filling and crisp all around

By far the best bread in Chicago. This boulangerie feels like a little piece of France tucked into the city. From the warm bonjour that greets you to the smell of fresh bread that fills the air, everything here feels genuine and inviting. The pastries are delicate and perfectly flaky, and the breads have that golden crust with a soft, airy interior. The smell of bread alone warms my soul. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, sip your coffee, and just enjoy being there. A true gem and easily my favorite bakery in Chicago.

Always amazing and consistent quality here. They are cash only but there is an ATM inside. Our favorites are the strawberry sponge cake and the egg tarts. They also have a variety of frozen buns that are really good to steam or even air fry at home.

It smells like bathroom/sewage in there I don’t know why. When you go in the first door your nose gets assaulted. I had to stand a couple minutes in between doors to see if I should eat from a place that has a dirty smell… That said,my curiosity about the xiopao won and so I bought a pack of 6 from the fridge. The dough is a tad stiff but the inside tastes good. The worst part? I’ll show you in photo… never again.

Sent my brother out to purchase a mixed fruit cake for our mother's birthday. Fruit was terrible and moldy. This is not the first time we buy from this bakery.... very disappointed.

Finally got to check out the famous Chiu Quon Bakery! Since we already had lunch plans, we tried to keep it minimal. This is what we tried: BBQ Pork Bun, Egg Tart, Egg Custard Melon Pan Bun, and Sticky Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf. Everything was sooo good. One thing we wanted, but was sold out, is the shu mai! I gotta come back for that cuz that seems to be a hit here. This spot has no seating, but has this standing bar area against the front window, and it was perfect to eat your bakery goods here. The service was quick and efficient, just how I needed it to be.

This lovely little panadería really feels like a slice of Mexican culture. The bakery has a warm, authentic atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The pastries smell amazing and taste just as good, with a great variety to choose from. I especially love coming here during the fall when the Día de los Muertos decorations are up — they’re beautiful and add a special touch. If you visit, I definitely recommend grabbing a concha to dip in your hot coffee. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Holy crap wow. I’ve lived a short walk from this place for over a year. Finally just happened upon it walking by after the train. Everything is amazing and very reasonably priced. A true Chicago gem here in Pilsen.

Beautiful bakery! Delicious smells and all of the pastries are gorgeous. The vegan items are labeled and set off in a section at one side with separate trays and tongs. The tortillas are amazing. Thank you for offering vegan options!

On a food tour of this neighborhood and the guide took us into here to try a chirro... It was so good and many of our group bought a lot of backgoods.

I love this place. I'm from a neighboring state so I stock up on the vegan pan when I'm in town 😁. My only regret is not buying more. Love this place. Definitely call ahead if you want certain vegan pans to make sure they're in stock.

We split the mortadella & burrata sandwich and a potato salad. Do not be deceived, this sandwich may look simple but it is packed with flavor and every bite was SO good. The bread was also the perfect texture. Excellent spot!

We were craving some sourdough and pastries but feeling a bit lazy, so Publican Quality Bread stood out as the best option available on all the major delivery apps. It’s been on my list to try since I’m always on the hunt for high quality artisanal sourdough, and it’s a huge bonus when a bakery also offers exciting pastries. Their signature Spence sourdough was only available as a full loaf, but you can have it pre-sliced. It was beautifully executed with a perfect crust and a slightly dense yet fluffy interior. The mix of rye and whole wheat gave the bread great flavor, more hearty than sour, but still satisfying. Considering the price, size, and convenience of delivery, this will definitely be one of my top choices when I need a quality loaf. The Chocolate Orange Morning Brioche bun was another standout. It had a beautifully flaky exterior and a rich, slightly gooey center. The orange and chocolate were nicely balanced, though the flavor was bold and perfect for sharing, as it might be a bit much as your only treat. But the Cardamom Monkey Bread? I could eat that every day. It was as good as monkey bread gets, with perfectly balanced spices and a strong, fragrant cardamom flavor. I’ll have a hard time not adding it to every future order. They offer other sourdoughs and pastries that look equally tempting, and I’m looking forward to trying more. I’ll make an effort to visit their physical location sometime, but for now, I really love having great bread delivered right to my door.

The pastry and bread selections are excellent as always. I love visiting on the weekends for their pastry weekend specials. My favorite is breakfast bun, which you should come early if you wanna get a piece since they’re very popular! Besides, the customer service is what makes me come back every day. Shout out to Annabel, Ashley, Francine, Becca, Clementine, and Emma for always making me feel welcomed and taken cared of even during rush hours.

They have great coffee, bread, and pastries. However, I would not go here for lunch or a larger meal than a snack again. Bad pricing. Came a little before closing around 2:00 for a sandwich and there was a zucchini sandwich and a turkey club of sorts. They had a ham sandwich as well that was labeled $13, it seemed to be a good size. We should have gotten and ham. The zucchini and turkey club were not labeled with price; you requested how much of an originally larger, sheet-pan-sized sandwich you wanted cut off for yourself. Not sure what metric they use to determine the price of these chunks they cut off but ours was way off. My partner paid for the meal, so I didn’t notice it until we left and drove away and I saw the receipt for the “sandwiches” but when they asked for a turkey club sandwich, half of what was left on the counter, the staff gave us a square piece that was about 3x3 inches and they charged us over $13 for it… the zucchini one my partner got was about double the size and charged the same price. I’m sorry, I like the fresh bread and baked goods from here but charging nearly $14 for a tiny 3x3” piece of a larger sandwich and same price for about a 5x6” chunk totaling over $30 is ridiculous, even for a ‘homemade healthy ingredients’ aesthetic. If you come here, stick to loaves and pastries or check they’re charging you the right prices.

The food is soooo good. One of my favorites in Chicago. The sandwiches (pay by the pound) are delicious. My daughter loves their fruit danish. Of course the bread is great too.

We're go here at least once a week. The pastries are certainly some of the best in the city, and the bread is great too. If you've never been, be prepared to wait. The line is frequently out the door on the weekends, but it moves fast - it's rarely more than 20 minutes, and worth the wait

This is my first visit to Publican Quality Bread, but I have eaten at Publican and shopped at Public Quality Meats. I was in the neighborhood and the timing was perfect because it was 1:00 ish and the fresh bread was being brought out. Woo Hoo! The front retail space is very small, fridge in corner, bread shelves, pastry display case and counter. I bought a Kouign Amann, Chocolate Croissant, Baguette and Ciabatta. I'll be back to try some of the freshly made sandwiches. Très bien! 🥖🥐

Great desserts! I was in the area so I came here but I will go to the streeterville location going forward since it’s closer to me. The CINNAMON ROLL was amazing. Going on my list of best ones in Chicago! Soo so good. The sugar cookie also great! Just exactly what I look for when I have a sugar cookie with icing. The strawberry cupcake with vanilla icing was amazing too!! I want to come back and try more flavors 😊 but tough since it’s summer and I want to stay bikini ready 😭 I also love the playlist they had going! When I left, an employee made sure to thank me for coming and to have a good day—I appreciated it. The world is crazy and very small gestures help make it easier to keep going. Only feedback I have would be to give the bathroom a little more love. 💕

Wonderful quality at a great price! We ordered a 9" round for our wedding (just to cut and have the first bite together as our venue provided other desserts to the rest of the guests). The team at Sweet Mandy B's was great to work with and matched our wedding crest/design to perfection! Tasted great and was overall a smooth, pleasant process. I would recommend them to anyone else looking for a custom design on a tasty cake. :)

Sweet Mandy B’s is the BEST bakery of all time; you cannot change my mind. Super premium, high-quality, real butter and sugar, “homemade” desserts! I have NEVER been disappointed with anything I have purchased there. Seeing as they are the BEST and my ALL-TIME-FAVORITE, I decided we would use them for our wedding desserts because I wanted to share their goodness with our friends and family. Boy did they come through! Everyone LOVED the frosted cookies, the chocolate chip cookies, the mini cupcakes, and especially the frosted rice krispie treats (which confused them at first but everyone ended up loving the most). We also purchased a small wedding cake from them and of course, it was perfect. Bailey, event organizer for the bakery, listened to our picture for how we wanted the cake to look, accommodate our other dessert needs, and exceeded our expectations overall. The cake tasting process was fun too because they give you 6 of their giant and delicious cupcakes, all different flavors and frostings and allow you to test them before you make a choice; free of charge of course. I could not be HAPPIER with the customer service and more importantly the overall quality and taste of our wedding desserts and cake. I would utilize them 1000% more, if I still lived in IL - we had to drive all the way to Chicago on the day of our wedding rehearsal to pick up our desserts for our WI wedding and I have NO REGRETS!! I wanted Sweet Mandy B’s and I got it!! Any time I am in Chicago, I make sure to visit the Lincoln Park location, my personal favorite.

They also offer mini sizes of lots of their treats as well as gluten free options, which was great. Their team was wonderful to work with—friendly, responsive, and clearly very experienced. They brought our vision to life perfectly and made sure every last detail was just right. We’re so grateful for their part in making our day feel extra sweet!

While I've had so many baked goods from Sweet Mandy B's (frosted sugar cookies, cake slices, pie, cookies), by far and away the best is the cinnamon roll. It's gooey, with lots of cinnamon and icing. And every time I go in there, the staff are so nice and friendly. Quickly becoming my favorite bakery in Chicago.

I got there late in the day, around 6pm, but they still had some good options. The chocolate chip cookie was rich and chocolatey and buttery but thankfully not overly sweet. The giant chocolate stud muffin was super sweet, as cupcakes tend to be. It had a rich ganache filling under all of that buttercream. It was cold out of the case and would have been so much better room temperature, but I don't have anywhere near the patience for that - would be ideal if sold that way, but I imagine keeping them cool prolongs shelf life. Service was excellent, as was the ambiance. Both indoor and outdoor seating.

Our wedding cake from Vanille was absolutely beautiful and beyond delicious! We received so many compliments from our guests, and the raspberry layer was definitely a crowd favorite. From start to finish, the team was communicative, extremely kind, and so easy to work with. They brought our vision to life perfectly, and the cake looked just as stunning as it tasted and was also priced extremely fair in the world of wedding vendors. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and are so grateful to Vanille for being part of our special day. Highly recommend them to any couple looking for a cake that will truly wow your guests!

For me it was basic . Coffee, lemon tart and almond croissant were okay,nothing special. I didn’t feel any coziness inside while sitting. For me personally it was strange for having passcode in restroom for customers. I can understand , it’s not a restroom for public use, but felt odd that I should ask for code . They could add the passcode at the end of receipt, my suggestion. But anyway, it was okay ,nothing more.

I found this candy store yesterday since I was looking for an emergency candy and here I found it the candy store very clean the decent clerks the sweets very delicious I loved it I had an excellent experience I found a birthday cake and I was able to celebrate I also bought the cake candles in this pastry shop when you get home and split the cake was very delicious 🤤 I loved it

Vanile Patisserie is the French craft pastry shop and cafe. Very important - it is not French-like, but a genuine sweet masterpieces prepared by maitre patissier (master pastry chef). I have been their devoted customer for five years and never got disappointed. I cannot boast being an expert who finds "cherry with the notes of oak" taste or who is a true truffle sniffer to distinguish a scent of ohelo'ai berry. However, there is a balance of sweetness and flavor in every product. Visual appeal and taste make id devine. Of course, affording Paris is not easy. But affording this cafe is within a reach to get the feeling.

So delicious, everything is fresh and so tasteful. The service is great and we spent a great little break here.

Left me speechless ; and full. I ordered from this place on Uber Eats, and nothing could have prepared me for the absolute unit of a cake slice that showed up. Massive is an understatement. The Oreo cake? So freaking delicious I had to pause mid-bite and reassess my dessert priorities. It’s rich, but not too sweet, it’s the perfect balance. I’m an avid Crumbl Cookie girlie, but let me be clear: they will never see me again. 😂 Soft. Moist. Balanced. Iconic. 10/10 would recommend.

This quickly became our go to spot for "special occasion" dessert. Always a great variety of slices available and each flavor we've tried has been excellent. Service is always friendly too. Once, my wife and I wanted a simple gender reveal just for ourselves. I picked two different, possible flavors, gave the worker the slip of paper, and he quickly selected the right slice, and boxed and bagged.

I got to return to a very unique and aesthetically pleasing bakery in Lakeview. I had the Ube latte paired with an Ube cupcake, and it was the perfect sweet treat to satisfy my cravings, I Highly recommend checking out such a delicious and unique café and bakery. They also have gelato!

An elegant spacious bakery in a safe neighborhood. Cakes and cupcakes are beautiful!!! The frostings are delicious. Street parking was a bit challenging. It has bathrooms available for customers. Staff is very friendly.

Most of the time, there's going to be a line out the door here but don't be intimidated. It moves pretty fast! Banana bread latte with the breakfast sandwich was a great start to my day. The runny egg yolk in the middle of the bun was, albeit quite messy, a pleasant surprise. Pastries were pretty decent with good textures though some items were too sweet. From everything that I got, the standout was poached blueberry + lemon cheesecake danish. The low was definitely the dry and forgettable peanut butter cookie.

My go-to for years. I remember Mindy when she owned Hot Chocolate and had her space in the food hall. Was so happy to see a space of her own to show case baked goods. Wish I still lived in Chicago because this place would be a weekly event. Bagels, danishes, bialys, cakes, cookies. Literally can NOT go wrong. Her bagels are perfection. Everything is seasoned and well balanced. Place is small but the staff gets through the line efficiently with great service. My favorite thing she has ever made is her dream bars. I wish I could get my hands on them more than once a year now. It’s seriously the best thing I put into my mouth.

I drove from Dayton to Chicago to visit family. I learned that Mindys was within long walking distance from their apartment. It was definitely worth the trek. There was a good gluten free selection for my aunt. She eat the chocolate muffin and couldn't tell it was gluten free. Same for the strawberry danish and gf bagel . My wife likes croissants. She was amazed how beautiful her croissant was. The taste was also great buttery flavor. I rounded out with 2 bialy. A good onion smell and a great taste. 5 of us shared a great breakfast this morning. C.M. recommended this place for me.

always busy but usually worth it. unfortunately their uber-popular breakfast sandwich is definitely worth the easy rise to get it. it was wonderful. they have some interesting pastries - I really liked their s’mores cake (super moist and the marshmallow was unique). their bolognese flaky pastry was good too, but just a little too sweet for me. we also had the little hot fudge scone thing? it had a really fun breakable texture. however, i got the raspberry one a few weeks later, and it was wayyy too sweet. their cold brew was super unique though! no expresso, but the cold brew came with a foam on top that gave the drink overall the perfect amount of acidity

I got a hot fudge croissant, a baklava croissant, and a vodka pesto sauce bialy. Pastries were full of flavor! Really enjoyed the bialy. Looking forward to returning and trying their bagels.

After months of trying, I finally managed to wake up early on the weekend, and it was truly worth the effort! Grabbing that cinnamon roll paired with the banana bread latte made for a perfect Saturday morning. I also tried the crème brûlée Danish and of course the black Russian is what always keeps me coming back! Mindy's is a real gem with great staff, fantastic bagels, and unbeatable sweet treats. Don't forget to grab the chive cream cheese!

This is what we call a hidden gem ! I used to see posted outside early in the AM and wondered wth was going on. Lo and behold I realized it was Sugar Moon. The most scrumptious cookies, mouth watering blueberry scones, and amazing banana pudding pastries. I love bread and pastries and this def worth the wait, worth the money, and a1 applesauce!

This place. Wow. Like a well-oiled pastry machine. I have gone there sporadically over the past couple years but really buckled down and started committing to every Sunday these past few weeks. lol. The variety is just astounding and the quality is second to none. I always have the intention of leaving with 2 or 3 things but so far haven't managed to leave with less than 9 or 10 at each visit. Take my money!!!!!!

The flavor profiles of the pastries were all solid but the textures could use more work. A bit more chew on the brioche and better lamination for the puff pastry would have taken it up a notch.

Don't let the line scare you, it moves fast enough. Besides, the pastries are definitely worth it. Excellent variety of sweet and savory bakery options with a very friendly staff. It's good I live on the other side of the neighborhood otherwise I would be there every weekend. Their filled croissants are highly recommended as well as the bialys. I really don't think you can go wrong with any choice there but the staff is very eager to help you narrow it down.

Ordered at 9:20 after arriving at 8:45. Went with the chai spiced cinnamon roll, cloud cookie, and bacon brioche. The cinnamon roll was pretty big and smelled immaculate. There were some hard spots around the edges but the interior was soft. It also had a nice caramelized bottom and the frosting wasn’t overly sweet. Next, the tiramisu cloud cookie which I chose over the lemon one. I didn’t know what to expect but the name makes perfect sense. This was literally the lightest cookie I’ve had. Basically eating tiramisu in cookie form. Finally, while I’m not the biggest bacon fan, I split the brioche and wow. Not much bacon but the bread was so so fluffy and an unexpected hard boiled egg tucked in the hole. I just wish this place was closer cause everything was phenomenal.

Every single thing I ordered was out of this world incredible. The line moves fast and it’s absolutely worth the wait. Such a friendly, patient crew working there, as well.

Wow the sausage egg and cheese English muffin is amazing: homemade sausage and the Platonic ideal of an English muffin. Just make sure to save room for the hazelnut plum croissant - it’s like a PB&J made by God himself.

WE LOVE LOAF LOUNGE! We have been visiting the loaf lounge for a few years as our neighborhood spot for breakfast, lunch, and desserts and often bring out of town guests here too! So when we were getting married, we knew we wanted them to be a part of our special day! We are grateful to Loaf Lounge for doing our wedding cake “The Bear” cake specifically and we did a Pittsburgh cookie table that was a hit at the wedding as Loaf Lounge has the best cookies! Sausage egg and cheese, with the hash brown and hot sauce, gas. 9/10, I’d rank it just below Allez as my fav Chicago b sammy. On its own very good but not my fav, definitely needed the extras. I wish I had some jam for it that really would have added some extra flair but overall I’d return. Also had a pastry, the plum jam morning bun, it was good but it was just ok nothing to rave about. Matcha was good but could’ve been whisked a bit longer as it was still a little grainy.

I am a first time visitor today, and will definitely be back to check out more of the menu here. Today I ordered the “Claudio” sandwich, which was quite tasty. With artichoke, solid, radicchio, olives, turkey pepperoni, pepperonata and provolone, on beautifully grilled country bread, the Mediterranean flavors shine throughout. And it’s a healthy choice. Also check out the pastries here. Everything looks good, this spot is clean and the staff is helpful. 💯

The sausage, egg, and cheese was delicious. What made the sandwich stood out was the homemade English muffin and garlic maple sausage, both with incredible textures and flavors. The runny egg was an unexpected tasty bonus. It could've been perfect with a touch more herby mayo and a little less grease in the toasted muffins.

I have eaten here on two occasions when coming home to Chicago, once inside and once outside. Both experiences were great. Connor, the sous chef, made suggestions for vegetarian options and to modify dishes for my tastes. The menu has many interesting and flavorful taste combinations. There are amazing bakery options including rotating loaves of bread. Currently there is a vegan blueberry scone on the menu. The beverage offerings include extensive coffee and tea options, cocktails, beer, wine, soda and kombucha. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Loaf Lounge for a great food and beverage experience in a casual setting. I can’t wait to go back the next time I am in town.

Went on a Saturday morning. Place was packed and there was nowhere to sit. Staff trying to herd people through. Stated to set an understanding of the vibe. If you don't like pressure or a little stress ordering, go somewhere with table service. We had Paczkis and Croissants. The apricot and jalapeno+everything were stunningly good both as concepts and as end results. Well worth the experience of trying to find a warm place to eat them.

A little over hyped. And it proved them right. The Monaco croissant sandwich was good. But the Cannoli, ooh full of sugar sans taste. Disappointed.

Prepare for slightly pricy but very delicious classic baked goods. They have no indoor seating but some chairs and tables outside. This isn’t the place to try unique flavors but they have absolutely perfected classics.

We drove 2 1/2 hours today one way to pick up my birthday cake. Our local swedish bakery closed years ago and every once in a while I need this cake. My great grandmother made little marzipan painted like fruits and vegetables and this cake reminds me of her. I just had a piece. It was beautifully decorated and packaged well. The cake was very moist and fillings tasty. I enjoyed every single bite and it melted in my mouth. Honestly the very best princess cake I've ever had and worth the 5 hours total we spent on the road. Thank you so much for making this year's birthday so very delicious.

Bought an almond croissant and the flavor was yum. Service was awesome too..employees were very helpful with answering questions about items in display. Prices were reasonable for all items.

Mold/fungus was growing in the peach strudel. Which was supposed to be fresh in Season. Found it out after taking a bite outside the store. Went inside, and they shamelessly asked a proof when it was bought. No remorse on the face. And asked if I want replacement or refund. When asked for refund, refused to return tip ($3). Manager had to ask owner and took 10 min just to refund the tip. No sincere apologies or remorse on face for the customer who just ate mold, instead worrying about tip. What was the tip even for? No price displayed, the worker quoted $11 for strudel when it was $18. No point in supporting/buying from local business. The strudel even tasted old, with the greasy margarine lingering in throat for a long time. Why should we buy from local business with inflated price, serving old and mass produced items. Sooooo good! The shop is adorable, staff was super friendly, and the food was delicious. The breakfast sandwich was amazing- the biscuit looked like it might be dry, but it was very buttery and moist. The eggs and cheese were perfect too. Don’t even get me started on the pie. The chocolate cream pie was to die for. It’s so rich and smooth, everything you want out of a good chocolate pie. My mom was with us and had the stone fruit berry pie as well, which she said was delicious and sweet.

What's not to love about this unique, local pie shop? I've been here a few times, and walked away happy every time. There are several size choices, and every flavour hits the spot. Decoration is lively, as is the staff. I make sure to leave time to visit every time I come to Chicago.

My wife brought me here to try out their pies. We went here at the end of the day but didn't have any problems with parking. We ordered a couple of pies and a quiche. I just wished we went earlier in the day since the pies we had was good but you could feel that it has been sitting out for a long time. The quiche was amazing though. The service was decent and the atmosphere was alright. All in all, it was still a pretty good experience and will definitely come back again.

Smallest portions in the western hemisphere. High prices, too. I feel like Stuart little living in the upper east side like a pauper. The clientele is straight out of a shutterstock photo. They’re so happy to be alive. Good for them. Maybe they didn’t get the hand pies.

Come for the breakfast items & Dollop Coffee and stay for their amazing pie! There is always a line. Some days it moves faster than others. Always fresh and locally sourced, I’venever had a bad bite here. I particularly like their muffins, fruit turnovers, & a biscuit with jam. My favorite pie is the “Fat Elvis.” There is ample seating both indoors and outdoors. The bustling cafe is a common meeting place for friend and families. Recommended.

Im slowly compiling a list of what I do and don’t like. Here are my opinions Love: -match pie (light match flavor and consistency is creme brûlée) -biscuits and gravy (gravy is so good and biscuits are buttery and flaky) -lemon curd cheesecake (tarty and just enough sweetness) -broccoli and cheddar quiche (crispy broccoli on top and cheesy crust) Okay flavors -coconut cream (not much coconut?) -chocolate cream (tastes like chocolate pudding in a pie crust with whipped cream on top) -triple chocolate (barely tastes like chocolate) -lemon chess (not lemony enough)

I’m so glad I stopped in! I tried two of the hand pies, one mushroom, one sausage. Both were flavorful with a delicious flakey crust.

We came here for brunch. Prime location but parking can be a bit crazy in West town. We ordered a Dirty Chi latte, Chi latte, Latte and for food the Breakfast tacos, Classic breakfast, and a BLT. Not sold on the food but the outdoor patio was a nice touch and the service was nice!

Food is pretty good I’m obsessed with the hash browns lol. Had the Commercial Park it hit the spot. I tried some of the other sandwiches and they were ok. The Ekhart park sandwich would have been my favorite but the one I got was just a bit too dry. Also tried the Clemente high and was expecting a lot but really could not distinguish any particular flavors.

Had the short rib egg benedict, slightly disappointed with it; the ratio was a bit off so that it felt like it was a little amount of meat for the English muffin. Everything else was good though; the hash browns, coffee, and they provided hot sauce. They had a variety of options so I would go again to try them out. The staff were super friendly. Oh and they had a wide assortment of pastries. Picked randomly and tried the almond croissant, expected almond filling but had a berry jam, it was still really good.

Cake balls are amazing. Stuffed pretzels are so good and I love that the filling always changes. The staff is friendly and fast when I dine in and always happy to set me up to go. I love this place.

I used to love West Town Bakery’s vegan trail mix scone. The past few occasions, the quality has been very poor. I rarely leave negative reviews, but today, my $5 scone was exceptionally awful—it had very few mix ins (see photo) and was unusually dry.

We ordered a cake from west town for our wedding and it turned out lovely! Super cute and super tasty. The team was super accommodating and gave us exactly what we asked for (a small cutting cake just for us).

Lots of vegan bakery options. Don't miss the vegan cake balls. I love the triple chocolate and the chocolate chip. Take out bakery service can be a little slow sometimes, but worth chilling for a few minutes.

I had such a wonderful experience dining here. Every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The service was just as impressive. The staff was attentive, kind, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They consistently made sure our table was tidy, provided fresh silverware and plates for each course, and truly elevated the whole experience. My personal favorite was the Agnolotti pasta. It was unique, flavorful, and unforgettable. From start to finish, this restaurant exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to come back.

Despite their stellar reputation, Daisies absolutely exceeded my expectations! My only disappointment was that we were initially led to the dark and separated back room (which you also pass the bathrooms to get to). We nicely requested a table in the front and a 15 minute additional wait was well worth it. Both the Onion Dip and Fritto Misto were fantastic but a lot of fried food to start our meal, so we ended up ordering the Simple Green Salad to accompany our pastas. The Stracci with lamb is definitely one of the best dishes I’ve had in Chicago! We also ordered the gluten free Pappardelle - perfectly creamy ragu and their GF pasta didn’t taste like a sacrifice at all. The herb soda was an amazing surprise. So delicious! The fun and festive front dining room was accompanied by impeccable service. The 25% service charge was well worth it on a busy Saturday night. I absolutely loved our visit to Daisies and cannot wait to return!

This was our first time here, and we really liked the food! Everything was delicious. Our server, Tye, was very attentive and super sweet; we really appreciated his service. The pasta was amazing, especially the beetroot agnolotti (I might be saying it wrong, but it was so good!). And the French toast was incredible too. We’ll definitely be back!😋

Amazing vibe. Staff was friendly and explained the menu to us in depth. Incredible food - especially the roast chicken which took an hour for preparation but totally worth it! Strongly recommend. The desserts were finished in no time - Nothing like it! Crisp on the outside, and we could tell they were just out of the oven. Ravioli and gnocchi were one of the best I've had. A bit pricey but overall, amazing experience. Stronglu recommend.

I kick myself everyday for not renting right across from Loba. This is my favorite coffee shop / bakery in chicago. You can taste the high quality ingredients in every single bite. I also love how friendly the staff is!

Delicious pastry shop! I came on a holiday around 11:30 and waited about 30 min in line. The pastries were delicious - we had the curry scone and peach danish. The scone was really unique and the danish was really fresh and had nice cream on top that wasn’t too sweet. The drinks were nothing special, and they’re the only reason this doesn’t get a full 5 stars for food.

Great service as I asked about the different pastries since it was my first visit. The mole chocolate croissant has an incredible flavor profile and wasn't too sweet. No wait on a Monday and pastries still warm! Card only. I will definitely be back to try more.

I went to Loba at 10am on Halloween (Friday). I was surprised that there was a line of about 15-20 people inside! The line did move efficiently, and they had a stainless steel refillable water station for the fold waiting in line. I love the dust ability aspect of the coffee shop- reuse able stainless steel cups for water, perfectly steamed milk temp so no additional sleeve needed. It’s a very small and cute coffee shop. The tables were all being used- some for eating and chatting, others drinking lattes and reading books. I also love how the pastries are being brought out as they are ready. They must’ve changed to 3-4x different kinds of pastries as I was waiting in line. I ended up getting an array of pastries to share with my family. I purchased sourdough pumpkin strusel muffin, sourdough pineapple muffin, sourdough banana chocolate chip muffin (best muffin!). I also bought a honey crisp apple pastry, peaches and cream pineapple grout cherry danish, Cajun cheddar biscuit, and Emmie cake which is like a crispy spiced cake with seasame seeds on top. For coffee I tried the seasonal wolf spice latte and it was really good. Would totally go back. Support this sustainable, small, small business!

This place is the best pastry shop in the area. Everything is so unique, service is quick, and the coffee is tasty. They come up with the most unique combinations of items and most of the time you will never see the same thing twice. The flavor combos might not be for everyone but even if you don’t love the item you got you have to agree that they are each a work of art, incredibly creative, and just plain fun! Highly suggest everyone to try at least once. Be warned that it is a very small space with limited seating so I would suggest getting your order to go!

This charming neighborhood bakery caught my eye because it's doing some interesting things with ingredients not typically found in baked goods. I was especially excited to try the mole croissant. We went on a Sunday around 9:30 a.m. and only had to wait about 10 minutes in line. We tried the yellow mole croissant, which was excellent and probably the most unique croissant I’ve ever had. It was perfectly flaky, with a bold amount of spice that almost became too intense, but the sweetness helped mellow it out just in time. We also tried the semolina cherry cake with fresh cream. It was very small and lacked complexity, making it fairly average overall. The portions were small considering the high prices. I would definitely go back to try the black mole croissant, but I would most likely skip the other items.

Very small space with limited seating but the pastries were absolutely incredible and I loved the Wolf Spice Latte (their fall special). The smoked vanilla latte my husband ordered was also delicious and so unique!

I came to Sweet Mandy B’s on a quiet afternoon, just looking for something sweet 🍰. The moment I walked in, it felt familiar 🕯️. The smell reminded me of home 🏡. Like someone baking for the people they love ❤️. I ordered a cupcake 🧁 and sat by the window. Everything felt calm ☕. No rush. No pressure. Just warmth. There were kids picking out cookies 🍪 and someone picking up a birthday cake 🎂 with a big smile 😊. It all felt honest and simple. This place is not trying to be trendy. It is just real and that is what makes it special ✨. I did not expect it to stay with me, but it did. I will definitely be back 🔁.

Wow. 10/10. 5 stars. Standing ovation! When I tell you that this was the best gluten free cookie I’ve had where they perfected the softness of the cookie - I mean it. I might have to order one every day I’m in Chicago and then smuggle 5 more home. So good… and HUGE!

My friends and I went there for cupcakes after having brunch next door. They had good options and a colorful and diverse display. I couldn't help it but keep it simple as I do love red velvet cupcakes. It did not disappoint! My friends tried the fudge and cookies and they also loved their selections. I want to go back for cake next time! Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a sweet treat.

Sweet Mandy B's made our small wedding cake, which was absolutely perfect and delicious (devil's food cake with mocha icing and filling). They are super consistent and orders are straightforward and easy. Thank you!

Directly across from Aloft hotel, this was a pretty reliable place to get coffee and dessert. The banana pudding cake was soft and delicious, and the iced coffees/lattes were all very well made with customizable flavours and stuff. The place’s interior is also very cute.

Rude service staff. I have been going to Sweet Mandy B's for the last 25 years and this was the first time I picked up an order in the Streeterville location. I went in to pick up a cupcake order I was met by a staff member black woman with curly hair in a side pony. When I came in, I told them I was picking up an order and the person directed me to a bunch of bags in the back of the store. When I did not see my name she called out for me at the counter explaining in a snarky tone that that's for catering orders only. She asked for my name and I told her mine as well as the person's name who ordered the baked goods. As she was flipping through the book I saw my name and told her that was my order. She responded rudely, "when you tell me three names, it's going to be hard to find it in the book." Rolled her eyes and then flipped past the page that I told her was mine. She went to the back and found my order and charged me and I said goodbye and she said nothing and walked away. I'm not going to this location anymore.

They have plenty options to try and I tried three all tasted good to me! Cupcakes ate very famous and a must try.

We’re on a quest to find the best donuts in Chicago, and The Doughnut Vault was next on our list. It’s a small hole-in-the-wall spot with limited space inside, so you might have to wait outside if there are other donut enthusiasts ahead of you. We showed up around 11:30 on a Saturday and didn’t experience a wait. We were cheerfully greeted as we walked in, and the cashier quickly gave us a rundown of what was still available. The whole process was quick and easy. There were some tables outside where we could enjoy our donuts. We shared the gingerbread stack, which was great for sharing since it came with three donuts, along with the vanilla birthday cake and the pistachio. None of the donuts really stood out, and they were on the lighter side in terms of flavor. They had that classic texture you'd expect, but overall, nothing wowed us. I wouldn’t go out of my way to return, but they’re a solid choice if you’re in the area and craving a traditional-style donut.

The Doughnut Vault is absolutely worth the hype! Every donut was fresh, delicious, and well worth getting up early before they sell out. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. A must-visit in Chicago!

Fun space and great donuts. Different. No seats. One size coffee. Some doughnuts are huge, some are jelly holders, and the old fashioned are regular size but large on flavor.

Absolutely iconic doughnut shop nestled in the side of a building. Doughnuts are likely the best you’ll have and you may not be able to help but return 😉. Getting there as early as possible is wise, as they sell out most mornings!

Very friendly server, explained every doughnut they had available. The old fashioned doughnut was definitely by far my favourite, but the glazed was also very tasty. The coffee was a lovely accompaniment. Tables outside made it a nice and relaxing start to the morning.

Some of the worst donuts I’ve ever had! These literally taste just like store-bought from a grocery store if I blindfolded you and had you taste a bite between this and a store-bought you would not be able to tell the difference I feel like years ago these were better but wow this embarrassing how bad this is. The yeast raised donuts are thick and dense they’re supposed to be light and airy

The Best Old Fashioned Doughnuts are from the Doughnut Vault! I planned an early morning walk to the Doughnut Vault and picked up every Old Fashioned flavor they had that morning and brought it back to our apartment. My friends who were visiting with me helped me sample each one and voted which was their favorite. It was a great sugary start to our morning and we all agreed these were the best old fashioned doughnuts we’ve had. My personal favorite was the Classic Buttermilk but the Pistachio was a very closed second. Each piece of doughnut was soft and melted in my mouth. The flavors were really good and I found the Lemon Poppy Seed, Almond and Champagne the most sweet. The almond flavor reminded me of marzipan and the triple chocolate was rich & decadent. But the buttermilk won me over with its classic subtle, yet delicious flavor. Highly recommend getting there early and trying an Old Fashioned, you can’t go wrong!

Firecakes Donuts is a fantastic spot to satisfy donut cravings. Old style donuts, different flavors and fresh, delicious donuts are available. The coffee is also good, but can be inconsistent. The shop itself is cute and cozy, though seating is quite limited, available outside only during summer months, especially during peak times. It's a great place for a quick treat or to enjoy an outdoor table during warmer months. While the donuts are a bit pricey, the quality is good, and the donuts are often larger than average. Overall, a solid 4-star experience and a go-to for unique and tasty donuts!

I ordered the old fashion donut. It wasn’t too sweet, which I loved! I probably wouldn’t order that specific one again, but I would go back to try another flavor. Few things to keep in mind: -They can’t reheat donuts (they are fried, and therefore, do not own an oven) -We went at night and they only had 3 different donut flavors, if you want a specific one, you will most likely have to go early - It is only takeout, there is nowhere to sit

These donuts are absolute FIRE! Had the ice cream donut while in town and it was delicious. Would have loved it if the donut was hot but, it was great nonetheless. Will definitely be back! They also offer gluten free options which is great!

I visited the fire cakes, donuts Chicago location about a month ago was a great experience. The donuts were fresh sweet and very good. I also had a very good coffee. The location is very small, but serves the area well.

Small shop with great quality, highly recommend. There aim for are a select few i baked good, coffee, and ice cream! They go for large portions and large price, I think it’s only a little pricey. Flavor and texture and excellent.

Business Insider considers this to be the best donut one can get in the state of Illinois; I have no way of proving that without going to every donut shop in the state, and I'd be long dead from eating thousands of donuts before I came to an answer. I visited Firecakes Donuts in November of 2025 in my remaining hours in the Windy City. The place is located along Hubbard in the Loop area. It's a small shop, so don't expect to be able to sit anywhere. This is very much a to-go place. I ordered the famous "birthday cake" donut, which consists of two large glazed donuts stacked on top of each other. The resulting donut tower is covered in icing and coated in sprinkles until it resembles a birthday cake. It cost a little over $12 before taxes. First, the birthday cake donut is obviously larger and more expensive than the other (normal) donuts. This is a very big donut. You should be prepared to share it with one or even two other people. Second, it is very delicious. The donuts themselves are perfect. Nothing is dry or soggy, and the icing, while thick, complements the inner donut well. In another lifetime I am a Chicago cop making my beat around the city, stopping here to grab a donut with my coffee every morning.

Staff is nice, explained to me different flavors. However donuts didn’t match the expectations. Its just okay donuts. Especially the creamy ones, first bite was okay but after it was not pleasant

Hewn Bakery is our absolute favorite—we go almost every weekend. The blonde country sourdough is outstanding: perfectly crusty with a rich, complex flavor. All the pastries are incredible too—flaky, fresh, and beautifully made. The quality is always consistent, and the staff is kind and welcoming. I truly believe this is the best bakery on the North Shore. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates top-notch bread and baked goods!

Omg, when I tell you me and my family have never had better pastries in our LIVES!! They’re fresh baked in the back (which you can see) and the display was great. The bread looked pretty mesmerizing too. They had a huge selection of different but amazing pastries. We walked in mad and fighting and walked out in absolute BLISS. The morning bun, raspberry thing (forgot its name), and chocolate croissant made my day so much happier. We also got some coffees and just heaven I swear. Service was amazing and our cashier was so bright and kind. Please go there your day will be so much brighter.

Solid bakery. Worth popping into if you're nearby and craving a pastry, but not necessary to go out of your way to check it out. We had a chocolate chip cookie, a chocolate croissant, and a chocolate almond croissant. All were good, but unmemorable. The croissants are buttery and flaky which is very good. They are also a little light on the fillings, which makes them fine but nothing of a standout. Similarly, the cookie was tasty and worth eating, but by no means the best cookie I've had this week much less ever. Good, but a definite tier below Lost Larson or Mindy's or some of the other destination bakeries in Chicago.

They have the CUTEST little sign welcoming you in and you get the heads up of some delightful beverages to pair with any treats you pick up! Their loaves are my family’s favorite weekly staple, we’ve now tried almost every loaf on rotation they offer! My dog gets SO excited when he sees that brown bag come in the door, he knows the bread heels are his little treat! I feel great serving it to my family knowing there’s no preservatives or hidden added ingredients.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I went to Whole Foods and bought a ciabatta bread. They sliced it perfectly, with no collapse whatsoever. So, at last, I can freeze my bread. It's incredible how some people are limited in their approaches and fail to listen to their customers. See my picture below of the sliced ciabatta. A customer recently told me about a new bakery in Evanston. The store’s layout is very efficient, and customers receive service immediately. The various types of bread—ranging from baguettes to croissants to sourdough—are beautifully displayed, making it easy to choose your preferred option. While the prices are slightly higher than average, this is expected for a bakery that offers higher-quality products. However, I was surprised at checkout when the app prompted me to tip, starting at 20%. I find this surprising because the employees are already paid for their work in serving you the bread. Another thing that annoys me is that I asked for the ciabatta bread to be sliced so I can freeze it and toast it as needed, since the loaf is too large for one person. They told me that it was not possible to slice because the bread “will collapse.” OK, so how do I keep it fresh? No response. Plastic bags ruin the crust, same for the refrigerator, and bread boxes are expensive. So, I ended up with a hard, rock-like ciabatta that will be fed to the turtles at the cemetery. Bummer. Could you make smaller ciabattas? Thanks.

Lots of options to choose from! I ended up getting sourdough and the garlic parmesan sourdough. Both smelt amazing and tasted just as good. Surprisingly cheeper than the ones sold in grocery stores.

I love this place. Fell in vice with the bread the first time I tried it and try to get there every week. Whole Wheat Seeded is my favorite, but they are all excellent. Likewise the tempting pastries taste as good as they look. Staff is cheerful and friendly, and the coffee is good. Check it out! Bb

What a treat to find this delicious, dedicated gluten free bakery!! They had such a wide selection of items (mostly sweet, but savory too) that it was hard to decide what to get. We absolutely loved the blueberry cheesecake bar and the oatmeal cream pie. We should have bought more! They also had lots of dairy free and vegan options. And the prices were much lower than I expected for a small, dedicated gluten free bakery. I wish I lived close by!

We enjoyed the ambiance of this establishment. They offered a wide variety of gluten-free and dairy-free options, which was a great choice for us. The frosting was a bit too sweet for our taste, but overall, it was a fantastic place to try new desserts.

Defloured is an incredible bakery of the Andersonville neighborhood. I ordered two custom cakes from Defloured for my wedding. Not necessarily because anyone attending the wedding was gluten sensitive, but moreso just to support a local business that I had heard good things about. The online tool was pretty easy to use and I loved the customization options. The staff worked with me to answer any questions I had and to make some additions to the order. I was thrilled with the cakes we got. They were beautiful exactly what I imagined. The guests raved about how good they tasted. They made a wonderful day even more perfect! Special shout out to Johanna. You're running a great bakery! Thank you for everything!

Oh my, I wanted one of everything. It's rare for us to find gluten free bakeries and this one is phenomenal. The flavors are incredible and whatever magic they put in their baked items is incredible. I cannot recommend this enough and will be back. They have allergy friendly options and the staff is more than willing to assist. This place needs to be protected at all cost.

We were staying at the loop downtown in September 2025 and went 45 minutes out of our way to come here. So glad we did! I got a puck of love and a slutty brookie. The puck of love was the best gluten free pastry I have had outside of Europe. Wish I could have ordered more food. Next time I am in Chicago, I will definitely be back.

We catered Defloured for our wedding reception. No one that I knew had tried this bakery, so we went purely off of the amazing reviews. We had 2 strictly gluten-free guests in attendance, so we decided to get all baked goods from here to be safe. Everyone said that the desserts were delicious and most did not even know everything was gluten free. We also had vegan GF raspberry chocolate cupcakes that people were raving about. If you're worried about the desserts tasting "off", you do not need to. The flavors and textures were phenomenal, and they have such a great selection of small treats. Highly recommend!

So grateful for Defloured! Staff are always so kind. There are SO MANY goods to choose from. Deeply appreciated. The local coffee shops stock items from them, which is fabulous. Their gluten free challah is lovely. Proves that good gluten free bread can indeed exist.

Love this place for a casual hangout or to study! The croissants are some of the best I've had in my life including those in France. My favorites are the chocolates and the ham and cheese. The kougn amann is also AMAZING! MUST TRY! I like their espresso shots as well :) definite must-try in Chicago.

This was a lovely find in Chicago. Their green tea was great and my sister loved her coffee. The staff is super friendly and has great recommendations. The ambiance is perfect and if I lived in the area I’d find it the perfect spot for working remotely. It’s a super cozy space and the friendliness of the baristas reinforce that. Their pastries were also wonderful. I got the ham and cheese croissant and it was perfect.

A relative newcomer to the Chicago bakery scene Good Ambler makes good use of its expansive Fulton Market footprint with an in-house Bakery and Chocolatier plus lots of comfy seating. A 16 on Center concept, owners of everything from Salt Shed and Beauty Bar to Longman & Eagle, guests arriving during morning hours can expect a brief wait for Quiche, Wraps or Salads or an array of Viennoiserie. Priced akin to other like-concepts, roughly $4-6 per Pastry and Coffee $3.25 up for standard Drip, Good Ambler’s Kouign Amann is sticky with a good exterior crackle yielding buttery layers while the Almond Croissant is soggy and marred by excessive Frangipane. More impressed by the Financier, a moist crumb supporting Cherry Jam, the Ham & Cheese Croissant proved better than its sibling but instead of being over-filled offered the opposite with a good amount of hardened Cheese visibly leaking from the edges.

Very cute cafe/bakery I enjoyed the raspberry white chocolate croissant muffin, the chocolate croissant and my vanilla latte. When I came to check it out around 11am on a Friday it was packed, so finding seating was a bit hard. But otherwise had a pleasant experience dining here! There's also free 90 minute wifi.

My first time here, I loved the decor.. the folks behind the counter were ALL so friendly, the ppl in line were also friendly. It’s hard to be cranky when you know you’re in for some yummy pastries. I bought 4 things and my friends also over indulged. The grapefruit cruffin, the Kougin Amann, the dbl chocolate croissant, the rhubarb and vanilla custard croissant, can’t pick a favorite they were all wonderful. Thank you, keep up the excellent work!

Baristas were very friendly and nice, coffee was good, quiche was good (kinda small). Why the low rating? I came here at just past 12 pm, there was a long line right where I entered, I lined up naturally. Some woman and her coworker cut right in front of me, she told me I can go line up at the cafe directly. I was confused, asked her what is this long line for, she said “are you blablabla employee?” I said no, she was like then this is not your line or something, with a very rude face. I’m not from the area, just want to find a cafe to have breakfast and work a little bit. And this is the first thing I encounter coming to this cafe. Later I sat down, ordered some food. Then a server came to me, nicely but let me know the area is reserved and I can’t sit that area. I was confused by that sign where it was signifying. Apparently more than half of the cafe was reserved during lunch time I guess. I moved my stuff to another area trying to eat my lunch and enjoy my coffee, too bad the table was too low and not for eating. So I just left, went back to my hotel and ate at the hotel cafe. I wish I can like Good Ambler more, staff were nice, but this experience was really terrible and not friendly for people who are not from the area, or your building. I held my urge to confront that mean woman (customer) so it doesn’t ruin my day. If she ever reads this, you’re really not a nice person :)

Really great pastries! Very creative flavor combinations, some sweet, some not more on the savory side! I got the Turon danish and pandan basque cake, both delicious! Turon danish hit like classic Turon, and pandan basque cake wasn’t too sweet. It’s clear that a lot of thought was put into the quality and creativity of the pastries. Looking forward to coming back!

Went last Sunday and love their pasties! Highly recommend the longanisa Croissant, Pandan Basque Cake, and the Seasonal Hand Pie! Lines aren’t as hectic as when they first opened, but I still suggest getting there early since they do sell out and are only open during the later half of the week. Also no seating area.

I went at 9am and it they had plenty of everything! There will usually be a line, it’s not the fastest tho, so plan to wait a bit • Turon danish ⭐️4/5 It was so flaky yet soft, the soft layers peeled off beautifully!! There’s an applesauce/jam layer under the custard that blended surprisingly well. Easy to split and eat on the go! • Longanisa ⭐️4.5/5 The sausage and glaze are delicious!! But it is very messy, so ask for utensils (then you won’t get bites of just bread or just sausage either). The outside of the croissant is sticky and super flaky—it will get EVERYWHERE lol. Update: • Pumpkin seeds muffin ⭐️3/5. It had pumpkin seeds and date Carmel, but it honestly just tasted like a regular bran-muffin lol (unless you love bran muffins, probably try something else) **they have wooden utensils! So if you plan to eat them out, I highly recommend—it makes the messy but delicious longaniza experience better haha

Langonisa croissant, Bibingka with sesame seeds. Pandan Basque cake, Ube oat cream pie, Turon danish, Adobo brownie and Calamansi chamomile brioche bun …! Delicious new flavors and a new twist to pastry favorites. Truly creative! No wonder there’s always lines out the door.

We read the Tribune and couldn’t wait, To see what made Del Sur so great. We stood in line—forty minutes or so, But the scent of butter and coffee made time move slow. A cozy nook with pastry art, Each flaky layer stole my heart. The Tulum and Longanissa too, We’re creamy, flavor filled, baked right through. We ordered a pumpkin pie filled pastry too!

Woke up early to get there at open, but not good enough there was already a line and it did not move fast but I get it. Del Sur has some creative options that aren’t cheap so I understand the need to understand what stuff is. The your woman taking orders was kind, patient and logical, I appreciated her due diligence to help me because I ordered 2 of everything 😜. We loved it all BUT, I will the longanista Croissant and the hand bun were absolutely phenomenal, I’d get more for sure. The oatmeal Ube cookie was excellent!!! Definitely a must go

The best service, pastries and ube matcha! Del Sur lives up to the hype and deserves all the praise. The longanisa croissant and turón danish were my favorites, however every pastry I had was delish. If I could have a pastry from Del Sur every day, I would.

I'm so glad I found Bake! We ordered the confetti cake for my son's birthday party and the entire party raved about how delicious it was. We'll be ordering from Bake going forward! Also love all the sweet decor and gift options.

We ordered treats for my hubby’s birthday and everyone loved the cupcakes. Seriously delish- and the icing isn’t too sweet. Also, a couple of items were left out of our order and they offered to drive them over to us. They really went above and beyond. Definitely one of our fave bakeries from now on.

The employees were super friendly when I picked up my cake, but even after sending photos and Bake confirming that they'd place my daughter's name toward the bottom of the cake, there it was, in the middle of the cake. And a little sloppy. Also, the chocolate cake was pretty dry, so perhaps I just got the wrong cake. I did appreciate that the flavor was balanced and not too sweet. Probably a fluke, but have to leave an honest review- just had an OK experience for an 8" cake at $50.

Ordered a Nutella malt cake for my wife’s birthday and it was fantastic! Perfectly balanced flavor with just enough sweetness. The nutty, toasty notes of the malt were a great, subtle touch. So many bakeries we’ve ordered from in the past make their cakes way too sweet for our taste. Bake set itself apart from the rest for us and really nailed it! Also, ordering online is quite convenient. We’ll definitely be back!

This is a nice bakery and cafe! I came here in the afternoon and tried the cookies which were nice and tasted homemade. The chocolate chip cookie seemed a bit too thin and was too salty with some bites. They have greeting cards and books for sale here too. I would come back to try out other desserts here.

Such a beautiful little bakery right here in Wicker Park! I loved how bright and colorful the interior was. They had a pretty good selection of cookies and pastries out, but unfortunately for me, they were almost all out of cupcakes (which means they must have been good!) I got a couple of cookies instead, and they were a lot bigger than I initially thought. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Nutella Cookies were amazing. Very very shareable! Can't wait to go back and hopefully try one of the cupcakes!

Ordered the key lime pie, salted caramel peach pie, and peanut butter cookies plus a Nutella latte – and I'd recommend every single one! Everything was super delicious and definitely worth the around $6 per item. The service was friendly and informative, and the venue itself totally has a great vibe. Will definitely be back!

First impressions are always important and Justice of the Pies exceeded. The inside is so cute and clean! Very modern and chic. The lemon lavender cookie was so delicious! It was moist, warm and soft and absolutely perfect. I washed it down with the amethyst tea which was chefs kiss. I will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

Best pie in Chicago hands down! We tried the caramel apple crumble pie, key lime pie. apple banana bread and peanut butter cookie. It was all the perfect level of sweetness! Will be returning to try their savory pies.

Staff is really nice and goes out of their way to make sure you know all the offerings/options. The space is clean, cute, and relaxing (even when very busy). I ordered the Shokupan cinnamon roll and the sorrel bissap (hibiscus) latte to go, but then ended up sitting at the little counter in the side space on the left.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and full description and explanation of the menu. I tried the shokupan cinnamon roll, salted caramel peach pie and banana pudding. My favorite was the peach pie; the caramel paired with the peach was so delicious and I loved the texture of the pie and crust! I personally wasn’t a huge fan of the banana pudding; I prefer a more mousse-like texture with a more vanilla-forward flavor and this one was more pudding-like. The flavor of the cinnamon roll was AMAZING but I wish it was a bit softer and warmer. However, I did go later in the morning and got one of the last rolls so this could have been because I didn’t get there early enough. Definitely a place that everyone should visit!

I loved the service and the atmosphere! The egg biscuit had way too many flavors going on. The hash browns tasted good, but they were sitting in a lot of grease! Every time I took a bite, I was afraid I was going to drip oil on my shirt. The total, which included an iced mocha latte, was $41 without the tip. That is a lot to pay for breakfast for one person!

Elvis pancakes were amazing. The patty melt was delicious; the pickles were crunchy and the cheese just dripped off the melt. And the pork entree was also spectacular. Also, the fries were crispy and fresh. Overall, the experience, atmosphere and the server were excellent and I would come back in a heart beat, plus the place is clean and esthetically pleasing to walk by and be at.

For brunch, this is definitely a go to place. We had done our homework before we came to Chicago and had made a reservation but of course I screwed it up and we came late. The staff were very good about trying to accommodate us on a very busy Monday long weekend. When we did get our table the food was all spectacular. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The service was friendly. We were sitting outside so I'm not sure what you can say about the atmosphere other than you're outside. It was a beautiful day to be outside. Everyone in our party got something they wanted, whether it was savory or the ooey gooey sticky bun. Prices seemed a little high but they make sure to pay their staff good living wages so I really appreciate that. This is definitely a nice place to stop for brunch if you're in the area. I suggest making a reservation and then also showing up on time.

Chicago is progressively becoming dominated by the flavors of Chef Stephanie Izard, delivering some of the best menus in the city at her restaurants like Cabra, Duck Duck Goat, and now - unsurprisingly - Little Goat Diner. Little Goat takes the classic, nostalgic diner theme and enhances every aspect in a manner consistent with Chef Izards now iconic “Little Goat” branding. Welcomed by pastel color, classic red diner booths, and friendly staff, Little Goat’s sidewalk appeal preceded its menu as the bustling patio was lit up by the neon “Diner” sign. Sitting at the bar, my company and I ordered the appropriately named Sloppy Chicken Sammy with a cold brew. The coffee, while initially forgotten by our server, was pleasantly spiced with cinnamon; an unexpected but necessary surprise. The sandwich is best described as bahn-mi meets po-boy, combining flavors reminiscent of those found on Argyle with a presentation (and sense of soul) you would expect down in New Orleans. The thoughtful marriage of pickled veggies, tangy ground chicken, and a generous topping of bean sprouts made this sandwich uniquely familiar. The soft hoagie paired well, absorbing whatever was left of the filling. Left in the plate was a generous serving of this curious filling, which on its own could be a killer slaw/salad. Went for the first time over the weekend. My son was visiting from out of state and is in culinary business and he wanted to try this place out. My son really enjoyed his meal; he had the chili crunch chicken and dumplings. We also had the chili crunch cheese fries, crab dip, chili crunch burger and a new pork dish that was on menu. All the food was excellent except the crab dip (we are from Maryland) and well that speaks for itself. We tried the fry pie for dessert and liked the combination of chocolate and salt from the fries! I personally did not care for my cocktail The Goat from Impanema. The service was outstanding and very professional. Atmosphere was a cute modern diner vibe!

I’ve never been so torn about writing a review before. This is probably one of those places where no matter what you order, it’s going to taste amazing. I ordered the French toast and fried chicken—both were excellent. The French toast easily ranks in my top 3 of all time, and the fried chicken was just as good. Here’s where things went downhill: I paid $24.19 after tax for “ONE” slice of French toast and a very small tiny portion of chicken. After leaving a 20% tip (because it’s certainly not the waitress’s fault), I walked out spending nearly $30 for what felt like a tasting portion. The food was fantastic, but the portion size and value just don’t justify the price. Great flavors, disappointing portions. If they don’t fix that, they’ll keep losing customers—especially in Lakeview, where there’s no shortage of options.

We took a day trip all the way from Houston to Chicago just to eat here — and I can honestly say, it was worth every single mile. From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed with genuine smiles and warm energy that immediately made us feel at home. Our server, Danny, was absolutely amazing — truly the heart of our visit. He greeted us with such enthusiasm, guided us through the menu with confidence, and had that perfect blend of professionalism and personality. You could tell he genuinely loved what he did. He didn’t just take our order — he crafted an experience. We started with the dish called “This Little Piggy.” Let me tell you, I have not stopped thinking about this dish since the first bite. 🥰 The biscuit was out of this world — buttery, soft, golden, and with just the right texture to soak up that incredible sauce. The sausage had this deep, flavorful richness that paired beautifully with the subtle Szechuan spice. It wasn’t overpowering — it just lingered softly, leaving this delightful tingle that kept you coming back for more. Every element of that plate worked together like a song — bold, comforting, and unforgettable. Then came the Yucatan Pork, and oh my goodness… what a dish. The pork was perfectly cooked — crisp and golden on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. It had that deep, savory flavor that can only come from time, care, and someone who really understands their craft. The texture contrast was perfect — the crunch of the outer layer giving way to the juicy softness beneath. If I could change just a couple of small things, I’d say a bit more sauce would make it absolutely perfect, and the chips were maybe a little too crispy for my taste. But those are tiny details in an otherwise incredible dish. Everything about this place felt thoughtful — the atmosphere, the flavors, and the people behind the food. There’s something special about a restaurant that makes you feel like family on your first visit, and this place has that magic. So, to Danny and the entire team: thank you for such a wonderful experience. You turned a simple day trip into a memory I’ll never forget. Good variety of yummy pastries and desserts. Ordered the seasonal strawberry matcha, not very good tasted kinda gritty and didn’t have much strawberry. Staff was nice and friendly. Banana pudding was a bit too sweet but definitely worth trying.

We really enjoyed the bakery. The banana pudding bar is such a fun and delicious idea. There are a lot of good good options to choose from. Cupcakes are moist and delicious. Staff is super nice.

The banana pudding is just amazing. Something | guarantee that you will crave after your first visit! ( My wife and I are literally talking about our craving as we speak.) The banana pudding is cold, fresh, and fluffy. Each bite is full of flavor and you get a bite of the banana, vanilla wafers, and pudding in every spoonful. We have gone multiple times and each experience was great. They are very consistent with their products which makes this even better. My wife also got the carrot cake banana pudding and we enjoyed that as well. I will say that the carrot pudding is a little more on the sweeter side but still delicious. Haven't tried any of the baked goods but do plan on doing so on the next visit cause everything looks so good! 100% recommend!

Yum yum yummy!!! I can’t wait to go back a get more! I tried the Hazelnut, Apple Crisp, regular & cookies and cream banana puddings and all so delicious!! The hazelnut had chocolate chip pieces and could most definitely do without that. Of those weren’t in the pudding I would love it down!! The cookies and cream and apple crisp were so so delicious. The flavor was so good. I love making banana pudding and will be trying new add ins when I make it. However, I will be going here to get some when I don’t feel like making it!! Can’t wait to go back!

The pumpkin spice pudding was phenomenal! Inside of place was not as clean as there were tables that needed some work. I understand that this is a Saturday night. The service was good, but people were very rushed. I have three stars only because a guy took something out of a cake stand that looked like samples. He was scolded by the employee, but there was absolutely nothing indicating the price for these items next to them and should have been removed once that was pointed out to her. It was not the customers fault in that. I also thought it looked like a sample plate. The price that was next to it went with a box set, so there is no description and no price next to you the cake stand that held these treats.

Not sure I ended up with the driest banana pudding ever from here but I had to throw it away. It tastes old and dried out. There’s no pudding in my cup just stable mushed up cookies. Waste of $10

This pudding was out of this world. I’m not even a big fan of banana but the combination of cream and vanilla cake just blends wonderfully. A delightful snack after watching Broadway.

Everything from their menu is awesome. Reasonable pricing, fresh food, friendly service. They have a terrace area where you can sit and eat. I love this place.

Directions: Walk into D’Amato’s Stand with the million other people there trying to form some semblance of a line Greet the seemingly rude but probably just overstimulated and direct staff member Order the chicken Ceasar sandwich and the vodka chicken sandwich (if you’re alone its ok- nothing beats leftovers) Order a lemon ricotta cookie and a headful of other yummy desserts- you know, for the road. Take a seat in their very limited seating area or your car- the key is to eat these (particularly the vodka chicken) as soon as possible Indulge in some of the greatest delicacies that are the D’Amato’s The next day, thank yourself for the leftovers if you manage to keep any. Dream about her for the next few days until you return. Mission complete

I went in on a Saturday afternoon. What amazing smells and staff. It looked like a long line but people behind counter were quick and smiles all around. The nice young lady who helped me was very helpful. And made sure I got what I was looking for. Even an Awesome t-shirt that I wore to work the next day. I'm a bartender and love spreading the word in how amazing this place is. This place has been a family staple long after we left area. So anytime I can get her Even if by train I will go. SUPPORT LOCAL places like this so we don't lose them!

got a couple subs, so so good wow. got a chicken caesar sub and tuna sub, loved every bite. the inside is very small but cute and the works were very quick to make sure everyone’s order was taken. was pretty busy in there but it didn’t take long for the subs to come out. really loved the place, will be back

I wanted to love this place but the size of this sandwich is kind of off to me since it’s not as advertised. There’s no way I ordered a chicken ceasar salad sandwich with a cutlet and honestly there’s not much lettuce. It’s more ceasar dressing than anything. Flavor is there but the amount of dressing isn’t it. The line structure in the inside is also so congested and not really worth dealing with if the sandwiches are skimped. For the price - I would say it’s not worth it. Make your own cutlet and salad at home unfortunately

Unbeatable bakery, old school with the absolute best sourdough bread. My husband said it's just like it was 60 years ago. Try their pizza slices, canolli, flatbreads and focaccia.

D’amato’s is a place if you know you know if you don't now you know. It's a local spot to the West town near the River West area. We've drove past a handful of times because my girlfriend lives in the area and we finally got the chance to stop in on a Saturday afternoon. The place was packed. The service was friendly. It was worth the wait and my girlfriend got an Italian sandwich and I got a slice of cheese. The fact that they've been there for a long time is awesome. Definitely be prepared to wait a little bit because of how busy they are but again it's worth the wait because their food is delicious. And I think for the sandwich and a slice of cheese we spent less than 15 bucks. The one thing though is that if you're not in the area, and you're driving sometimes it may be a little bit hard to find parking, but there's parking up and down grand so hopefully it shouldn’t be that hard. Overall, I am happy about this place, we will be back and we totally understand the hype. They also have tons of baked cookies by the pound and they have fresh hot coffee. It’s just really a good atmosphere overall.

Cake tasting was one of the parts of wedding planning I looked forward to most, and Sugar Fixe did not disappoint! Working with Corrie, their Wedding & Cake Director, was such a smooth process. She guided us through flavors and sizing at our tasting, quickly followed up with a clear proposal, and even created edible butterflies to match our invitations and ensure the planned design matched our “vision.” On the wedding day, Corrie personally delivered the cake, added the florist’s flowers and butterflies, and the result was absolutely beautiful. Best of all, the wedding cake was delicious; our guests raved about the lemon cake with raspberry preserves and vanilla buttercream. We already know we’ll be ordering a smaller version for our first anniversary!

Sugar Fixé did the most amazing custom cake for a Mozzarella Stick theme birthday! Not only was the cake delicious, the mozzarella sticks looked real. Cannot recommend Corrie and her team enough!

I’m so overjoyed with the changes and additions made here by the new owner. The interior refresh was much needed. Just a couple weeks ago it was cold and sterile but now…it’s colorful, warm, cozy and inviting!! Also the addition of a bacon cheddar scone makes me so happy. I look forward to more savory options. A great place to relax and read a book.

I've been here multiple times to grab coffee and treats, and every single time I visit, all the staffs have been so nice. In particular, Nash has great smile and personality that makes the visit even more pleasant 🙂 The new outdoor sitting area is super cute as well. In terms of pastry, I usually get the vanilla bean scone which is not too sweet, not too bland, not too dry but still has the firm consistency which I like.

The macarons here are incredible—light, chewy, and full of flavor! Their ham and Gouda sandwich is the perfect savory bite. Definitely my new go-to bakery. Friendly staff and cozy vibe. Can’t wait to come back!

Such a cute hidden gem in Oak Park! They have fantastic treats and delicious coffee. I haven't tried their cakes yet, but will soon. Definitely worth checking out!
