Very nice Avenue that you can either by walking or by bike. When we went (sunday), the one side of the street was reserved only for bicycle so it was super Nice

The Palacio de Gobierno del Estado de Yucatán, also known as the Government Palace, is a striking historical building located in the heart of Merida, Mexico. Constructed in 1892, it serves as the executive government offices for the state of Yucatan. The pastel green facade of this architectural gem stands out at the intersection of Calle 60 and 61.
This is a surprisingly great building with outstanding large format murals detailing the artist’s impression of the history of the Yucatan. We didn’t pay an entry fee, and so it’s a great free visit of a museum in Merida (there are a few). We visited with our family, and the kids (13 and 11), thought it was really interesting. Each of the murals also had descriptions discussing what they were about in Spanish, and English. Recommend this place.
Nathan G — Google review
We had a great time during our visit here. It was a historical building in the city center of Merida where we could see murals, artworks, and museum. It was a free entry during my visit. In October, the city is preparing for a carnival. We could see many beautiful decorations inside the city. We managed to see local performances in the other part of the street.
Rita — Google review
Very large artworks depicting historical events, Mayan traditions and folklore ,displayed on two floors. Our Tour Leader took the 3 of us in for a brief viewing. For someone really interested in art ,longer than a brief view essential. Free to enter. Guards at main doors amenable .

Beautiful museum with incredible artworks. I loved the green colour of the buildings and the lighting throughout the museum was stunning. It’s in a great location and definitely a must see spot when you’re visiting Merida.
Hope O — Google review
This is an exquisite and well maintained palace of the governor. The entry is free and is well guarded by police, however they allow people to view it. The palace has amazing paintings and murals which depict historic events and modern works from a famous Mexican artist.
Devansh — Google review
Merida is the capital of Yucatan state and the biggest city of the entire peninsula. This elegant green edifice is the area's government seat, standing on the main Plaza Grande square. In normal times you can enter it to admire great murals in the arched courtyard. They remind on Diego Rivera murals in Mexico city's City Hall, but here in Merida, Fernando Pacheco is responsible for them. Murals depict Spanish invasion of Yucatan and enslaving and destroying Mayan culture.
Dejan B — Google review
A beautiful building right around the corner from the Cathedral. The building is open to the public with no admission charge. Exceptional murals on the walls and especially in the expansive rooms on the second floor. The building is clean and very well cared for. Definitely worth a visit if you are in this area.

Museo Casa Montejo is a beautifully restored 16th-century house that has been transformed into a museum, showcasing art exhibitions and hosting cultural events. Built in 1549 by the three Franciscos de Montejo, this stately home stands as the city's oldest and most exquisite example of colonial plateresque architecture. The intricate ornamentation of this Spanish architectural style can be admired throughout the museum.
Beautiful restored building. Elegantly displays the historical nature of the Spanish style. Take your time and enjoy! Be sure to see the evening light show (once a week).

Entry is free!! And surprisingly hardly any visitors. Guess people got used to paying entrance fee 😉 Nice, well maintained place. Security takes it’s job seriously 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Gee D — Google review
Museo Casa Montejo is a beautifully preserved slice of colonial history nestled in the heart of Mérida, Yucatán. Built in the 16th century by Spanish conquistador Francisco de Montejo, this mansion-turned-museum offers a rare glimpse into the opulence and architecture of the colonial era. The façade alone is worth the visit—ornately carved in the Plateresque style, it’s a stunning example of Spanish colonial artistry. Inside, the museum is divided into historical and cultural exhibits. The historical rooms are furnished with period pieces that recreate the lifestyle of wealthy colonial families, while the gallery spaces often feature rotating exhibitions of contemporary art.
Vello P — Google review
The museum is located in the city center of Merida and we can visit for free. It is a great place to spend the time to know about the history of the city.
Rita — Google review
Free to enter and worth the short visit. Lots of local artwork displayed in the gallery and even a short film in Spanish with English subtitles on the history of Merida. I found this interesting and worth the visit and time it took. Spend a little or a lot of time there is no rush.
Teakeyman — Google review
Very well kept and renovated with some of the original furniture. The rooms were air conditioned and the path well marked. Ask to view the mural, it pictures the hardship and reality of the indigenous people. Free admission.

Former house of the city's governor, which had to be sold by the family after several generations and is now in possession of the Mexican National Bank. The villa was restored and is now available for public for free. Note the exhibition opens at 11am - before only the bank terminal housed inside is accessable.
Emanuel H — Google review
This is a good free museum to visit in Merida. It’s got some fantastic colonial furniture and a helpful video showcasing the history of the house. It’s now owned by a bank, which put the museum on show as a public service I assume. If you are in the main plaza check it out.

Grocery store
Mercado San Benito is a bustling market located in Merida, offering a wide variety of goods and local products. The market features snack stands with fresh fruits, vegetables, regional spices, and household items. One can also find taquerias serving authentic Yucatecan dishes like the traditional tamal colado. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by live music and local ambiance.
Situated adjacent to the bustling Mercado Lucas Galvez, this market is a haven for meat and poultry enthusiasts. It’s a haven for carnivores, and a hell for vegans… The extensive selection includes every part of the animal, catering perfectly to those who embrace a “nose-to-tail” philosophy of eating. From nutrient-rich organs to cuts of chicken and beef, the variety is both impressive and inviting. After an initial visit, I’m eager to return for chicken, beef liver, and other specialty meats. The market’s offerings don’t stop at meat; the neighboring sections are equally vibrant, featuring an array of fresh produce and an impressive lineup of restaurants and small food vendors. The dishes on display are visually stunning and temptingly diverse. Additionally, I discovered a few shops selling incense—a personal find I’ve been seeking for some time. This market encapsulates a dynamic blend of culinary and cultural treasures, making it a must-visit destination for food lovers and shoppers alike.
Gilbert S — Google review
You may say this market is dirty, but it was a great experience to be in the local market in Merida. I loved to see the chilli, fresh fruits, and vegetables.
Rita — Google review
This market lived up to my expectations, both high and low. There is a curious mix of things and food for sale. The things are colourful and cheap for the most part. Plastic stuff in every shape and colour. Plastic toys, costume jewellery and religious icons and ephemera. Electronics and parts. Clothing for literally cents on the dollar, but nothing I could wear. Size being the problem. I was more interested in the potential for prepared food and refreshments. My expectations were realized in terms of the plenty, however there was no way I was prepared to take a chance on some of these places. I'm not suggesting that the vendors were dirty or lacking in skill in the kitchen. Just a bit outside my comfort zone in terms of my notions of hygiene. Having said this, I did enjoy a few foods and suffered no I'll effects. My concerns were further belayed after a food tour through here the following day. Treat this place as a combination museum and fun house as a tourist. But keep in mind that it is a serious, integral part of community life here in Merida.
Peter — Google review
The real deal! If you’re used to local Mexico living this is your kind of place, 99% local, actually we saw only locals, but this is where it all happens, best food, best local experience, get your Spanish ready you’re going to need it! My kind of place, friendly, helpful, enjoyable. Can’t wait to go back! Prices are great, the meat market is huge!
Cliff I — Google review
Mercado San Benito isn’t just a market—it’s an experience. It’s big, it’s bustling, and it’s got everything. Think of it as the Costco or Super Walmart of regional markets, attached to Mercado Lucas de Gálvez. Walk out of Galvez, and boom—you’re in Benito. This place is a maze of vendors selling fruit next to shoes, next to tacos, next to cell phones. Not a flea market (everything’s new), but it’s got that chaotic, treasure-hunt vibe. Feeling hungry? Don’t hesitate—food here is clean, delicious, and dirt cheap. Pro tip: The market is huge and organized by sections—candy with candy, shoes with shoes, butchers with butchers. It can feel overwhelming, but everyone’s polite, and the prices? Unreal. Must-tries: Cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork heaven) and a Jamaica juice (refreshing hibiscus drink). you can visit every day and barely scratch the surface! I was fascinated by the people watching as for the food and offerings. I hope you enjoy!!
Begona C — Google review
Mercado San Benito in Merida, Mexico, is a vibrant marketplace that offers an impressive array of fresh fruits, vegetables, regional spices, and household goods at fantastic prices. The lively atmosphere is complemented by the friendly vendors who showcase the region's rich culinary heritage. For the best selection and a more leisurely shopping experience, I recommend visiting early in the day, close to opening hours. It's a delightful destination for those seeking quality produce and local flavors in a charming setting.
Luminosity — Google review
Great market to buy produce, clothes etc. I visited the vegetable and fruit stalls.

Huge, authentic market, almost only locals. Very cheap prices. You will find almost everything: Meat, vegetables, fruit, spices, shoes, clothes, hardware, animals... . Craftsmen repair phones, shoes and jewelry. Taco-Factories. Lots of places to eat cheap, local food. All the Hustle and Bustle a market needs!

The Museo Regional de Antropología, Palacio Cantón is housed in a magnificent mansion from the early 20th century, showcasing the Beaux Arts style popular in Europe and Mexico during that era. The museum features rotating exhibits that delve into the region's rich cultural heritage. Once the residence of General Francisco Canton, governor of Yucatan, this eclectic architectural masterpiece boasts intricate details such as multicolored marble and elegantly finished ceilings.
Amazing museum! They are renovating the place, so not everything is ready. It is free to enter, there is a fee to be payed if you want to make videos. Great information, also in English. Some fun things for kids too. The entrance is at the back at this moment.
MUSEUM H — Google review
There are a few interesting things to see inside of this very beautiful building, but the collection is quite small and really only the first floor is related to the Mayan culture. The second floor is family history of the house and rather boring. The QR codes for English take you to a broken link in the Google Drive. Staff were unfriendly, on their phones, or just plain sleeping. They won’t let you keep your bag with you or take water, despite the excessive heat. There are much better museums to explore in Cozumel and Valladolid. Overall, it took about an hour and mostly because there’s a lot of reading/translating large information posters.
Ciarra P — Google review
Amazing experience and very pretty building. There are QR codes that guests can scan for the English language option. Apparently, some displays are switched out from time to time, so you can see different artifacts and collections tickets are cheap, and if you have a resident card, they are even cheaper.
Shion “ — Google review
Overall - a good place to learn a little about the past and the present of the region. The way the English translation works is not the most convenient, but functional, I guess. The experience is short, yet fulfilling and the place itself is stunning!
Vlad — Google review
Loved exploring this musuem and learning about the history of Merida and the Yucatan area. The signs have QR codes that pull the English version of the description cards. Great way to spend 1-2 hours in air conditioned comfort.
Traveling P — Google review
Interesting museum currently they have a exhibit about the trade routes used by indigenous peoples and the part rivers and ocean ports played in these historic markets
Bryan H — Google review
Small museum, housed in a beautiful historic mansion on Paseo Montejo. It contains exhibits of Mayan ceramics and other artifacts and id owned by the State of Yucatan. Also, an exhibit about General Canton, the person who had the building constructed as his home, in the early 1900's along with the history of the building. English translations available on line with a QR code. There was one room photographic exhibit of the various religions in the Yucatan. Entry fee is a modest $100Mx.
Roger C — Google review
As others have said, there are little to no explanations in English or other languages so you're pretty much on your own. It's a great museum that's not too expensive, entrance fees are $95 pesos per person. There's no parking inside only on the street so you'll need to go around a few times to find a spot. Lots of really cool things to see in this museum and didn't really encounter the curmudgeon up front that many reviewers were talking about.

The Catedral de San Ildefonso, also known as the Merida Cathedral, is a 16th-century cathedral with Renaissance architecture. It was partially constructed using stones from Mayan ruins. The cathedral is located in the main zocalo, surrounded by well-preserved 16th-century mansions and is one of the oldest churches in Latin America.
If history is your thing, then this place is for you. If architecture is your thing, then this 0lace is for you. If you need to pray, you should come try it here. It's beautiful, the people were wonderful, and it just leaves you in awe of what people can be capable of.

Ivan T — Google review
Beautiful site in Merida. Must see for anyone. Looking at it from Picheta is amazing as well. Also I recommend viewing it day and night because it looks amazing in different kinds of ways. Also research the history as it’s pretty interesting.
Benjamin B — Google review
Architecturally impressive, this cathedral houses none of the original art. Either stripped during the Mexican Revolution, or removed to prevent theft, the cathedral is a less decorative experience than the frilly, gilded majesty of the ones we saw in Mexico City, Puebla, and Oaxaca. Saturday nights there is a Mayan pelota demonstration in front of the Cathedral. It is a fitting location, since the stone walls of the Catedral de San Ildefonso are also the last remnants of the Mayan Temple that stood on the same spot. If you are visiting the archeological sites in the area, the ball game demonstration and ceremony will add significantly to your overall understanding and experience.

Fascinating cathedral, especially during the Christmas season. I love the light show they project onto the cathedral, as well as all the events that take place during this time. The church is free of charge. I believe the projection only happens during the weekend.

Desiré Z — Google review
The oldest Catholic Cathedral and Church in North America. It was amazing to go to Mass here and experience history. Imagining the millions of pilgrims and Catholics that have worshipped here over centuries. The authentic structure gives the feeling of traveling through time and being in an International landmark is something special. Located directly in Central Mérida Yucatan Mexico across from the plaza is the iconic landmark. The Church is very peaceful and popular for tourists. But, it still functions as a Catholic Church with Masses held daily. This cultural heritage center is where Catholics formed their first Cathedral in North America. Then branching out to form missions throughout North, Central, and South America. You can feel the connection between the past and the present in a Holy Site. Then enjoy the food, shopping, and the cultural park directly across the street. A great place for family to visit and also fellowship in Christ!

Santa Ana Market is a must-visit spot in Merida, located near the iconic Paseo de Montejo. It offers a wide variety of Yucatecan street food, including panuchos, lime soup, turkey salbutes, papadzules, cochinita pibil, lechon, and queso relleno. The market also hosts tianguis and gastronomic demonstrations in the nearby park.
Very few people mention the fact that there is a market indoors here, open every day from 7 am until 2 pm, with produce stalls, a meat vendor, a tortillería (makes fresh corn tortillas, and also sells eggs), and several other stalls that sell miscellaneous spices, hot sauces, juices, etc. When I stay in the neighborhood just south of the restaurants on Calle 47, I come here for my fresh fruits and vegetables. It's easy to miss the entrances, but you should check it out. The marchantes are friendly, the quality is good, the variety is limited but typical. It's a small version of what you find at the Mercado de Santiago (my favorite market) or the wonderful, massive central market (Lucas de Gálvez). Given the scarcity of produce and grocery stores east and southeast of Santa Ana, this was a real find for me!
Mark M — Google review
Came on a Sunday around 11am. Easy to find a parking spot right outside for free (not considering the tip for the gentleman). It was a bit overwhelming once the waiters began to yell very aggress for us to check out their menu and competing against each other. But it stopped as soon as I chose one of the many outstretched menus held out at us. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. We chose FRUTI-LUNCH. The menu had a great variety plus nice fresh drinks. We ordered the tacos cochinita, panuchos cochinita, empanadas con carne y queso and one tamal. To drink, we ordered one litre each of mango agua fresca and a mix of mango and pineapple aguafresca. Every order was good and tasty and we were satisfied (2 adults and 2 children) for a total of $505pesos. I thought that was pretty good! We had a few people approach us at our table while waiting for our food and we welcomed it as we actually were interested in the items. One was selling hammocks, another handmade pine fans and another handmade bracelets. They were a bit pushy but budged easily and quickly on the prices. We got a beautiful hammock ($650 pesos) and a fan that smells so nice and is very pretty($100pesos). Sorry about the half eaten food photos, we couldn’t help but dig in before I got some snaps in! That’s first part of our experience was great. The second was disappointing as we expected the place to be full of vendors but most were closed with only about five open. And the bathroom visit was not great either. We had to pay $5pesos pp to use the washroom and they give you a little bit of paper and there are no toilet seats. So once I used the paper for my young one to sit on, there wasn’t enough for her #2! But we figured it out with some leftover napkins in my bag. If I know that it gets busier on another day with all the vendors open, I would give it another try.

This market used to be one of my favorite spots — it had affordable prices, good food, and everything was always kept neat. Unfortunately, things have changed or at least I have seen decline since the beginning. The quality of the food is no longer the same, and it feels like the staff is too tired or overwhelmed to keep the place tidy. For a local market, the prices are now on the high side, which makes it hard to justify coming back as often as before. It’s disappointing to see the decline because it really used to be a great place.

Along most streets after 7:00 pm these energetic people pedal through if there is nice weather or not. The fresh goodies are worth running to the door for. The (pan) bread absolutely wonderful, soft, often oven warm and very economical. No need to go to the market and walk home in the heat. Not usually delivered on Sunday or Monday nights in some zones. When you catch the delivery person ask what nights are available. Once they know you are interested they will often slow and honk the hand operated bicycle horn louder. Please attempt to enjoy this home delivery service it is worth the effort. For 12 years we have enjoyed many of the delivery people in a multitude of housing locations throughout Merida. Enjoy.

Loved it here - authentic Yucatan food, the waiters really try to win you, the juices are delicious and the prices are fantastic. Much better food than some of the up-scaled restaurants that are close to pretentious rather than being authentic.

We arrived to merida and went there 1st day. BIG mistake. For a street market food is VERY EXPENSIVE!!! And barely decent. When u arrive you have all these guys hustling you to seat in their section/food court. For 2 aguas frescas and 2 meals we paid around 450 pesos! In our last day we went to La Chaya Maya, a few blocks from the market. La Chaya is a tipical yucateca food situated in an old hacienda downtown with the best...literally beat local food in merida, amazing service and well served portions (lots of cochinita in each taco) and girls what? Half (yes, 1/2) the price. Avoid the market, GO to la Chaya Maya if you want the best food, place, service and overall experience!

It is place, where you can get souvenirs and give a chance to loc gastronomy. You can find “panuchos”, “tamales”, “salbutes” and more delicatessens. Mérida is well known, actually the entire state of Yucatán, for its “Cochinita Pibil”, where this dish saw the light for first time, many years ago. Enjoy this must, eat and walk in to the shops.

Miguel Alemán market is a clean and organized local market known for its fresh produce, meats, and Yucatecan snacks like kibis. It's less crowded than other markets, making it a great place for tourists to enjoy breakfast or snacks while experiencing local life. The neighborhood reflects German influence and offers a wide variety of Mexican-style breakfast foods. Visitors can try kibis from the many cocina economicas in this popular tourist spot.

Parque de Santa Lucía, located in central Merida, is a vibrant hub of cultural and nightlife activities. The park hosts the Yucatecan Serenade, an open-air dance with live music that has been a weekly tradition since 1965. On Friday and Saturday nights, locals gather in the square for salsa dancing. While the area can get noisy at times, it's a great spot for those looking to immerse themselves in Merida's lively bar and cantina scene.
Nice place to go and have something to eat. Streets are full of shops on the way. Locals are using the area for different celebrations / festivals so worth popping around specially when you hear music
Orsolya N — Google review
By the work "park" I imagine a lot of greenery, trees and benches to relax on, but there is almost none of that in this park. It's more like a small square with three palm trees and restaurants. What's interesting here are two huge white benches (or more like chairs) that you can sit on if you are able to climb them. However, if you are in luck, you may see the Yucatecan Serenade - an open-air dance with live music - taking place in this park every week. I imagine this event is what makes this park interesting.
Cyntia P — Google review
City park in the historic center of the city. The park has GINORMOUSgossip chairs, the white chairs that face opposite directions for lovers to kiss or gossip to share information. The park is surrounded by restaurants. Once a week there is a city sponsored concert in the park. Get there early to sign a seat for the singing and dancing. The park is easy to get two of you are visiting in the center or the historic center of the city, or a quick Uber ride from the outside of the center. This is a lovely park, but it is just a park. The oldest park in the city of Merida
Begona C — Google review
There’s often events going on at this park, like traditional music and dances. This is an iconic little park in the heart of Merida, so it’s a must visit if you are around the area. The place captures the Mexican culture and colors.

Great plaza a few blocks away from downtown with lots of places to sit and restaurant around the park. Don't miss sitting on the large chairs and get your picture taken. In the evenings there is usually live music.
Alexa B — Google review
Beautiful park just blocks from centro. If you're staying on the north side, you can walk past this park every time you're heading to the city center. The park is shaded by beautiful trees, and has 4 restaurants with outdoor seating to relax in the shade. Tucked in the corner is Ki'Xocolatl - authentic Yucatan chocolate that is a must visit, and the perfect place to get some gifts for friends and family when you get back home. Also Grab a few photos at the Sillas gigantes (giant kissing chairs) or wait to get those down in the centro by the Merida sign. One of the favorite things we did was the free walking tour with Gabriel that starts here. This is a great way to see the highlights of the city, the history and a few of Gabriel's favorite places all in 2 hours. Please take my word for it - do this on your first day and you'll feel like you got the insider tour - https://www.freewalkingtourmerida.mx/. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, Yucatecan Serenade, an open-air dance with live music, has been held weekly on Thursday night at 9:00 pm since 1965 right here (now you know what the stadium bench seating is for). Please take my word for it... this is the place to be on Thursday. Locals and travelers alike attend this event and it is always amazing and it is always busy. Get there at 8:00 pm (or earlier) to get a seat at this free event, because it is the place to be! The regional music was played by a full band, and some of the songs were accompanied by traditional dancers. You don't want to miss this on your visit!
Eric M — Google review
This park is full of joy. I went there for the Thursday local dance show which starts at 9 p.m.. The people there are in a really good mood, they are chilling, talking, laughing and just enjoying their time there. Come around 8 to 8.30, find a nice spot to sit. Bring snacks or buy some of the many locals selling snacks, water, coke or buy some food from the food stalls or many restaurants.

Bodega Mercado Lucas De Galvez is a bustling and expansive market where you can immerse yourself in the local culture, sample new foods, and take in the vibrant atmosphere. The market offers an array of local eats, from watching tortilla-making to traditional regional dish cochinita pibil. Visitors can explore the market with a local chef to learn more about its traditional foods. The market is known for its fresh produce and diverse offerings at affordable prices.
An amazing Mexican market experience. There are sections (shoes, clothes, meats, veg) where multiple vendors have stalls. For your first time, go early in the morning before everyone is open. By the time you've wandered through and (somewhat) gotten your bearings, you can do it all again and see a whole new selection of vendors that have opened up. Nothing has prices. Speaking Spanish and being kind helps, but the gringo tax is quite prevalent. We were also followed closely by some stall associates when we went in to browse, which put us off of those particular stores. Don't miss the recados. The vendors will often let you sample theirs and no two are exactly alike. Sanitation is nowhere near USA standards. If that's not your jam, then stay out of the live animal and the meat markets (and probably the prepared foods, too).

You never know what you might discover buying local produce direct from the growers, or shoes made in Merida by local craftsmen. A great experience and opportunity to mis with the local population. There are some hidden gems to find amongst the electronics, perfume and cosmetics vendors. Everything about this place is divine! The building space is beautiful, the shops are excellent, and the food and cocktails are delight. The whole space shows thoughtful presentation and design. For me, shopping here is a bit over budget but I recognize quality when I see it. I purchased something a little small as a treat. Lovely place I love to have breakfast when I’m in Merida. I always thought their avocado toast is the best in town but I have to say that recently, I felt it went a bit downhill, probably for the low quality bread they use. The waitress are really nice. The place remains a good place to spend some time and to work from a computer. Expensive for what it delivers. The quality is average!

Well, Mérida is definitely hot and humid — but at Casa Tho, it was a nightmare. We went this morning for breakfast, and while the place itself is beautiful, the experience was very disappointing. We asked them to turn on the fans, but they said there was no electricity — quite odd for such a nice establishment. Service was terrible and breakfast was just okay. It took over an hour for our food to come out of the kitchen, and another 20 minutes just to get the check. Overall, I do not recommend this place. Beautiful setting, but the service and organization were unacceptable.

We've had two lunches here, and we've loved both. The first day we had the avocado an salmon toasts. The next day, I had the tuna tartare and my wife had the spicy ca rrot soup. Everything was excellent. It has a lovely quiet atmosphere, similar to old Singapore (the weather is so similar). The margarita was probably one of the best I've ever had.

Small, but very nice, clean mercado, Has most everything found in larger markets; fruits, vegetables, butcher stalls, several food fondas, and lots of other things. Chen Be(e)ch translates from Yucateco Maya to " 'Yucatan Bob White Quail' Well" in English, which is also the name of this neighborhood. Several Merida neighborhoods are named for local water wells, which while not in use today were the only local sources of water until the City water system was developed.

Ok, I live around the corner so I'm prejudiced. The food at the little places outside have fantastic Yucatecan dishes. Get some Panuchos! Inside most of the fruit and vegetables are fresh, but look carefully to find the best. Sadly the place hasn't gotten back to its pre covid size but it will, what is left is delicious.

Small but mighty market. Two fruit stands with a variety. I usually go to the two guys; the older gent is very enthusiastic and excited about all of his fruits and veggies and is really nice, as well. I go every two days to get fresh mangoes, dragon fruit, avocados and limes (Limon) which are so fresh and juicy that I bring them back home and immediately juice one, add water and sugar and refresh myself from the incredible heat. Massive Atulfo mangoes that cost about 20 pesos each, same as the Hass avocados. Staying at an Airbnb in the neighbourhood, so I'll definitely miss this when we move northward. If you don't speak Spanish, come prepared with Google Translate.

My local market, renovated, clean and friendly. Produce varies by season but is generally excellent, the people are friendly and helpful. Market food is great, flowers fresh, a pleasant place to spend time. Highly recommended, as are all the vendors surrounding the market including tortilla makers, pharmacies, bakeries and butchers. Not much of a tourist place but forms the basis of a great neighborhood.

The Mayan World Museum of Mérida is a striking and modern cultural museum that showcases a wide array of exhibits featuring art, handicrafts, and history. Opened in 2012, the museum aims to provide insight into the lifestyle of the Mayans and their enduring influence on contemporary society.
This Museo del Mundo Maya is the biggest of its kind in the entire Mayan region. Interactively filled with screens and videos, this museum brings even ancient Mayan times back to life. Recommended time for a full round between 2-4 hours, depending on your speed.
Jessy H — Google review
Not worth the time or the effort or money indeed the price of both getting there, it’s far, and admission. The edifice is huge but the galleries are small, so much so that currently there is a large section on crafts, not really what one is expecting. Basically if you have been to the many Mayan museums in each city including the excellent Anthropological Museum in CDMX then this is a total waste of time. Sad but true!
Gregory M — Google review
This was a decent museum but it was a little bit confusing. For some reason when you enter you are actually entering at the end of the exhibit and when you exit it's the beginning of the exhibit. I'm not quite clear on why this was happening. I also was a little bit confused by the items that appear to be original archaeological pieces. Were they really? After you walk through there for a while, you start to realize that these may not be actual archaeological items but reproductions of them. I noticed this when I was reading what they were saying about each item.
Jonathan — Google review
Great artifacts! Big museum with lots of history and interesting facts about Maya. Taking off 2 starts for: 1) No English guide (or any guide) at this pint 2) No air conditioning, we wanted to leave earlier just because it was unbearable hot inside
Valery V — Google review
We arrived at the museum an hour and 15 minutes before it closed, but it turned out that was the perfect amount of time. It doesn't have a ton of blockbuster artifacts (especially if you've already visited, and are implicitly comparing it to, the Museo de Antropologia in Mexico City...which was the case for us). However, what it DOES do quite well is to paint a picture of how the ancient Maya actually lived, how their society was impacted and shaped by the Spanish conquest (such as the role of the henequen trade), and how that all connects to the lives of the modern Maya. That throughline is essentially absent from the CDMX museum; in fact, I think the Gran Museo del Mundo Maya feels more like an "anthropology" museum, while the Museo de Antropologia feels like an archaeology museum, not anthropology. Both are worthwhile for their own reasons!
Lori B — Google review
Fascinating and accessible museum covering Mayan culture ancient and current. Interesting artefacts and signs in Mayan, Spanish and English. Gives a great insight into the cultural and technological sophistication of their ancient civilisation, and the impact of colonisation. Huge modern building with clearly money splashed on it.

If you're interested in the Mayan culture, there are interesting artifacts to view at this museum. It also includes early Spanish artifacts. There are also three movie theaters with interesting visuals that are presented in Spanish language audio. This was our second visit in six years. We visited the museum during a weekday afternoon, and it was relatively quiet. The staff was very friendly and we had a great experience!
Steve G — Google review
Mayan world museum is a really good museum. It is well done, in Spanish Mayan and English. They have artifacts of every type, recreations, and movies explaining the Mayan culture. This is a great museum! My problem with it was that it was quiet like a church. No music, people really weren't talking, it was just so freaky quiet. Also the air conditioning is tepid not cold. When we visited the museum the cafeteria was out of order, but there is a vending machine in a dark corner of the parking lot underneath the museum. I'm glad I went to the museum. I am so glad that I got all the knowledge. It is not a museum I would visit again unless I was with people when never been before.

Cute square, giving you plenty opportunity to observe everyday life. Just be mindful of random locals starting casual conversations and talking to you about sites and stuff you need to check out, then casually leading you to select stores. It’s a trick mostly used by store owners to attend clients. They will tell you lines along the lines of ‘everything else is from China, this is the only real Mayan store’ etc. this happened to us on our first day and we fell for it. The person in question was friendly, spoke English and German and was very smooth in luring us.

I went there for a dance show. Wonderful choreography telling us some of the history and culture of the region accompanied by a flawless band. A poet recited some if his works, and the MC cracked a few "bombas," funny and often edgy popular verses. All of this for free. Hot night but drink and snack carts always close by.

Casas Gemelas, also known as Twin Houses, are two impressive Beaux-Arts mansions located near the picturesque Paseo Montejo. Built in 1911 for brothers Ernesto and Camilo Camara Zavala, these stately homes were a display of their family's wealth from henequen plantations. While they may look identical at first glance, each house has its own unique story to tell.
Best of this place was we met Ms Barbachan at the shop, member of the last family that lived there, very interesting talk.
Javier G — Google review
Waited for 15 minutes past their opening time and there was no sign of life anywhere. Looked at the house from outside. From a distance it looks old and nice, but when you get closer it actually looks dirty with the outside kind of run down and full of black mold, in need ot some serious cleaning. Might look good on the inside, I guess I'll never find out. I was here on a Tuesday, at 9 when they should have been open. It is 9.18 now and still closed. Looks like someone else was waiting for them too and gave up and left. Update: sign outside says open Tuesday to Sunday 9am to 5pm. Passed by here at 12.00 noon and still closed.

This is another place you must visit while in Merida. One of the houses has been open after 2021, so the access to this beautiful house is pretty new. The tour helps you understand the wealth of the families in Yucatan and how the power belong to a couple of families in the times of the Haciendas of henequen.
Wendy D — Google review
We were walking past and saw people waiting out the front so thought we would explore too. The entrance fee is very high at 250 pesos for non locals, and 150 pesos for Yucatan residents. 100 pesos for teachers / students. Additional 50 pesos to take photos per a phone. This is a private home owned by a wealthy family, they are turning their home and family history into a museum. You can see the luxuries they had/have. The price is extremely high considering. We were told the cost of the ticket goes towards the renovations of the house. The guide and staff were lovely. Majority of the house is closed due to renovations.

The place is known for blending Yucatán peninsula crops into its desserts, with top flavors being mamey fruit, coconut, and guanabana (soursop).
Delicious treat on our hot walk home. My daughter ate the Mango without coming up for air. Hubs and I had Montecado and elote, and the boy had chocolate. They were all amazingly refreshing and delicious. Service was very helpful and attentive. We will be back to try more!

I really don't understand how is that in Merida where the income is quite low an waterbased 🍨,could cost almost 8 usd per scoop. whoever is familiar with a Concrete in the Midwest (USA) could have an idea of what to compare with. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place anymore. NOTE, is not about the price is more about the cost-beneffit os this product. Not worth it.

Plaza Grande, also known as Plaza de la Independencia or Plaza Mayor, is a bustling park in the heart of Merida. The plaza is surrounded by important buildings such as the 16th-century Cathedral of San Ildefonso and the Governors Palace, which houses giant paintings depicting Yucatan's history.
Classic and beautiful central plaza surrounded by history. You could easily make a day of seeing all there is to see in this relatively small area. Enjoy a sunset cocktail or dinner 4 stories above Plaza Grande at Picheta, or peruse the many shops and restaurants on the side streets radiating from the square.

Mérida's Gran Plaza is a captivating blend of history and vibrant life, especially during Easter. The stunning colonial architecture, including the majestic Catedral and Palacios, provides a breathtaking backdrop. During Easter, the plaza buzzes with festive energy, often hosting cultural events that draw families and visitors alike. Adding to the lively atmosphere are the numerous street vendors, offering local treats and crafts. The museum offers an immersive experience where visitors can witness traditional Mayan cooking techniques, such as the preparation of cochinita pibil in underground ovens, while exploring exhibits that delve into the history of chocolate and chiles.
The moment I arrived I was greeted with such great joy. Food was incredibly delicious and the drinks were also great but strong! My server was incredibly informative about everything and made the best recommendations to me as I was on my own but still wanted a variety of foods to try. The pumpkin dip (kind of like hummus) was incredible!!

The place is incredibly pretty and food isn’t as at all, but it’s not incredibly either. It is still a must go if you’re in Merida. A lot of traditional options and the service is great. You can get a good reference of what your experience in Merida will be like, by having food here on the first day of your trip.

Food was good. But waiters need education if you want to advertise as your self as "restaurant of gastronomy". They are keep watching tables from behind of customer and keep waiting until they find an empty dish. This felt like very uncomfortable, and someone was keep watching me during my whole meal. Some of waiters were talking in the middle of tables. I understand they can have a rest but if you have nothing to do, just go back to your position and talk there. I couldn't focus on my meal during my whole dining. And even I was eating, waiters came to me and asked me if I want to remove those dishes bloody 4 times! Did they want me to leave as soon as possible? Idk, services of this place is almost same level of taquerias outside. I'll not come back here again.

Parque Zoológico del Centenario is a delightful destination for families seeking an engaging day out in Mérida. This zoo showcases over 1,000 animals, including both local wildlife and exotic species like tigers and lions. The park is thoughtfully designed with pleasant wooded paths that invite leisurely strolls, alongside playgrounds and picnic areas perfect for relaxation.
More of a kids place than expected. Still very nice. It was February when I visited and a weekday so not everything was open but it's free, nice walking trail and plenty of shade and ice cream. Not really a fan of animals in small pens but they seemed content. Lots of animals lions & Tigers no bears lol.

Wonderful Zoo with LOTS of shade!! Both my kids (9 & 2) had a great time here. The animals overall look like they are in good health. My toddler even wanted some of the food that the birds had 😅 (fruit salad). I appreciate the playgrounds and food stalls. Makes it easy to spend a few hours here. I came on a weekday both times so it wasn’t very busy.

Amazing Free Zoo – A Fun and Family-Friendly Day Out! We recently visited this zoo and had an absolutely wonderful experience. One of the best things about it is that admission is completely free, making it a fantastic option for families, students, or anyone looking for an affordable day of fun. The zoo offers a wide variety of animals to see, from exotic species to local favorites. There are plenty of exhibits and enclosures that are well-maintained and engaging for visitors of all ages. Kids especially enjoyed seeing the animals up close, and there were plenty of opportunities for photos and learning. In addition to the animals, the zoo features many food vendors offering a range of delicious snacks and meals, so you’ll never go hungry during your visit. Whether you're craving a quick bite or a sit-down meal, there's plenty of choice. A standout feature is the free train ride that takes visitors around the zoo. It’s a great way to cover more ground and enjoy the scenery without getting too tired, especially for little ones or those who prefer a more relaxed experience. The layout of the zoo is thoughtfully designed, with lots of shaded areas scattered throughout the grounds. This was a huge plus on a warm day, as it kept us comfortable and protected from the sun. There are also many benches and picnic spots if you want to take a break or enjoy a packed lunch. Another important convenience is the abundance of free bathrooms, which made our visit much more comfortable and hassle-free. It’s always nice to see such thoughtful amenities provided for visitors. Overall, this zoo exceeded our expectations. It’s a clean, well-organized, and family-friendly destination that offers a lot for free. We left with great memories and a desire to return soon. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun, educational, and budget-friendly outing!
Justin V — Google review
This zoo has a lot of animals and isnt just a zoo. It is a park for the little ones too. There are a lot of vendors for food and plenty of bathrooms. Restrooms are free but tips are asked for at the door. Most important thing I can say is that alot of the reviews and write-ups online are incorrect or deceiving. All that I saw said the zoo opens at 8AM, that is incorrect. The zoo opens at 9AM on most days amd the park opens at 8AM. The vendors were starting to open around 8:30 for food but most were still closed when I left around 1030 on a Wednesday. The entire time I was there there was someone cleaning enclosures. The enclosures are old zoo style, maybe think private collection? There are some indictments for some of the animals and others that you would find roaming the plains they basically have an open area to move around in. I had a great experience and the animals on display seemed happy and well maintained.
Justin W — Google review

Very nice family zoo! Free. All the animals you would see at a pay zoo. Hippos lions tigers jaguars giraffes birds monkeys etc. There is a small train that goes through the zoo. takes about 3 hours to walk through if you would like to see it all. Photo is the entrance at night.

Loved this place. Free access to the park and the train is $1peso per ride. Takes you all around the park. There are tiendas that sell souvenirs, toys, treats and a little cafeteria area with picnic tables and washrooms. We were very impressed by the number of animals as well as the type. There were so many cool ones and the way the areas are setup, you can see the animals clearly. The park is pretty outdated but well worth the visit. We spent a very nice afternoon here for about 1-2hrs. I would definitely recommend!

Once the private residence of the Montes Molina family, it has remained remarkably intact and provides visitors with a rare opportunity to step back in time and experience the luxurious lifestyle of Merida's elite during the Porfiriato era.

La Quinta Montes Molina in Mérida is a well-preserved historical site worth visiting. Visitors receive a brief explanation of the property’s history upon arrival, which is informative and valuable. Inside, the Tiffany stained glass windows are a notable feature. The visit ends at a café with a modern and cozy atmosphere, similar to a small bookstore. Highly recommended.

This is a very nice 100+ year old mansion that has a number of interesting rooms to see. The issue is that it’s just not worth the price of admission. I understand that they need money for upkeep, but maybe the local government should support it rather than tourists.

Very nice place to visit and get some impression of how life was during the early days. The house is a mismatch of collectors items and antiques and that makes it great to look around. It is rather small, although there is upstairs and downstairs, but you walk through is in less than 45 minutes. Entrance fee is 120 pesos, which I think is a bit overpriced.

a bit rough around the collar but this becoming one of my favourite parks. Different from some of the other parks but it has grit and uniqueness.

Another park in Mérida which doesn't really look like a park - there is not much greenery here. It's definitely a nice place to see when you are already in Mérida, but it's not exactly the kind of park where I'd sit down, eat some grits, and relax. It's more of a place you just walk through, take a picture, and walk away again. However, there are couple of food and drink stands, so you can buy something if you want to.

If you're looking for a captivating experience during the Día de Muertos celebration, the Walk of the Souls at Parque de San Juan is an absolute must-see. This annual event offers a beautiful homage to the traditions and customs surrounding this cherished holiday, and it certainly lives up to its reputation as an unforgettable experience. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by a vibrant atmosphere filled with colorful displays that pay tribute to those who have passed. The decorations are nothing short of stunning, showcasing intricate altars adorned with marigolds, photographs, and candles, all arranged masterfully to honor loved ones. Each display tells a unique story, merging creativity with the rich tapestry of Mexican culture. What truly makes the Walk of the Souls exemplary is the dynamic blend of activities available. The food stalls are a culinary delight, offering traditional treats like pan de muerto, tamales, pib, and various street foods that will make your taste buds go wild. Alongside this, the lively music that fills the air, from mariachi bands to traditional folk tunes, adds a joyous backdrop that enhances the overall experience. They have areas to get your face painted for 25 pessos, allowing visitors to embrace the spirit of the holiday by transforming into calaveras (sugar skulls). It’s not just fun; it’s a way to immerse yourself in the celebration and express the blend of reverence and joy that characterizes Día de Muertos. Entertainment is beautiful, with performances ranging from comedy to live music to storytelling that enrich the cultural experience, drawing you deeper into the heart of the holiday. The energy is palpable, as families, friends, and visitors come together to celebrate and reflect, making it a truly communal event. I highly recommend visiting Parque de San Juan during this time of year. The Walk of the Souls is not just an event; it's a beautiful cultural experience that leaves a lasting impression. The vibrant colors, enticing flavors, and rich traditions to be breathtaking. This is a celebration of life, love, and remembrance that should not be missed!

We got serenade and listened to some local favorites. We watched a concert in the corner. They have lots of porta-potties but bring your own toilet paper... many had none! Lots of people selling clothing and trinkets as well! If you are in the area, take a look at my other listing for places we visited in the area! Enjoy 😉

Great place to relax and local to meet people waiting for combies to nearby towns. Food stands are OK, but limited food choices. This is the local alternative to the main plaza a few blocks to the north. Nice fountain. Overall, great place to relax in the shade large, old trees wherep hundereds of grackles roost at night. A few vendors, folks begging, but not aggresive like at the main square. This is a historic location, surrounded by 100+ year old architecture. Historic arched gate to the old walled city on SW corner. No problemos aqui.

The store is huge. Absolutely gorgeous market. Went there on a weekday at night and it was very lively. Lits of baubles, jewelry, and some food. Didn't buy anything but was fun to visit

The market is really authentic in Mercado style. Local fruits and produce are common scene. Locals shop here all the time to get their household goods.

Our tourist guide, Willy, brought us here. authentic Mexican mercado with great taco vendors. Really good Yucatán tacos Cochinita pibil, salbutes, and panuchos…with some habenero sauce. Mmmm…mmm!! Biggest regret was that I didn’t order more. I’ll never forget! Go find

Parque de los Hidalgos is a small, charming park located in the heart of Merida. It offers a green space for relaxation and shade from the sun with numerous benches hidden under palm and other trees. Adjacent to the park is Rectoria El Jesus Tercera Orden, a large Catholic church. The park hosts bawdy comedy acts at 11:30 am and lively music performances in the evening.
This is one of my favorite parks in Merida. Park is pretty small but with a Catedral de Mérida right next to it, it's a spot for a perfect pictures. You will find many people sitting there on the benches drinking coffees (there are various cafes in the park), enjoying the views and relaxing. Definitely don't miss this place while in Mérida!

Lived and worked in Merida 10 months in mid 70s This was my. Main hangout in the evening. Made a lot of awesome friends here. It saddened me to leave. I really miss those people.😓 My intentions were to return to live but couldn't make it back.

A nice little park right around shops and restaurants. There are other historical landmarks close by, like the church across the street. It is a bustling area with a great atmosphere. It's a nice place to have a seat and take in the charm of Merida.
Curtis D — Google review
Great park with many benches. This area is covered by free wifi in Mérida. Restaurants and cafes are nearby. It is a good place to stop in the hot weather. The location is easy to find by walking straight after the main cathedral. The park is facing a church.
Rita — Google review
A charming little park located between the Rectory of Jesus Church and the main plaza. There are a few restaurants, a coffee shop, a couple of old hotels, a theater, and an ancient church constructed from stones taken from a dismantled Mayan pyramid that stood on this site.
Bobby C — Google review
Interesting park. Even though it is colloquially known as Parque Hidalgo, that apparently isn’t its official name. The Hidalgo soldiers used to train here in the past, and this is where the name comes from. The parque is simple and not that big, but it is surrounded by a few very historically significant buildings - the Jesuit built church, the first gender-mixed club in Mexico, and the region’s first hotel.

Very small food market with food vendors, all highly rated. Great place to come for your fresh meat, cheese, veg, tortillas. Still authentic, still local. 10/10 will come again.

Found this little Mercado and had to stop because the food smelled delicious. I have specifically been trying to find a place to have a tamal since I have never tried one. Finally I found La Poderosa, a stall on the North side of the Mercado near the street. Had a wonderful Tamal con Pollo! Very pleasant staff and my tamal was less than 30 pesos! Food at all of the stalls looked delicious!

Cute & small market! Lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Local food vendors making delicious meals! You have to eat at Lupitas — hands down the best inside. The photos don’t do it justice

Good place in the center for some fresh food. And after shopping you can eat some tacos there. Really good.
Felix's C — Google review
It's a small market with a small selection of meat. However, we went to get Pollo pechugas which were very good value. Then onto the produce section where they seem to have most things. There's lots of people eating but no crowds, unlike the municiple market.
David W — Google review
The food vendors are great and helpfull as well as the fresh tortillas. However maybe because I am treated as a tourist the produce is overpriced. I purchased 2 times to be sure but the price was double what the supermarket charges 1 min walk away. Though I am in favor of small vendors I will not shop there again as they do not deserve my pesos

Pasaje de La Revolución is a large covered pedestrian-only passageway located next to the cathedral in Merida. It serves as a space for rotating art displays from the nearby Merida Museum of Contemporary Art. The passageway commemorates Mexico's revolution and independence and features colored lights on the ceiling that create a captivating atmosphere, especially at night.
In the heart of the city rests this beautiful passage built in 1916. You can be lucky enough to see it empty or with art installations and artists interventions. One of the not so mentioned traveling locations but a gem to the people who know
JM — Google review
Roofed passage located next to the Merida Cathedral. It houses occasional art exhibitions but these are not always around. There are a few shops and a museum entrance on the south side of the passage the whole of the north side being occupied by the cathedral. Nice spot to hide out in when it rains, it can get hot and stuffy on hot days however.

I’m not sure why, but the place certainly wasn’t what I had expected it to be based on what’s available online and other people’s photos. It was quite empty (even during the day) and rather dirty. It was actually a little creepy at night.

It's a big archway, that architecturally is interesting, but remains just a big archway /tunnel nonetheless. It could use some artwork and I'm not sure about the multicoloured lights at night (a bit tacky) but that's just my opinion. If you're checking out the plaza you can't miss this.

Nestled in the heart of Merida, Hotel La Piazzetta & Cafeteria offers a charming retreat with its relaxed ambiance and Italian-inspired architecture. Guests can enjoy comfortable rooms, some featuring delightful balconies that overlook the serene garden. The hotel is conveniently located near Mejorada Square and just a short stroll from key attractions like Museo De la Cancion Yucateca and the bustling Cathedral.
The hotel itself is lovely and very quiet, but not too far from the center. Our highlight though was definitely the owner, Leo, and Augustin. They were incredibly helpful and kind. They shared loads of helpful links and tips with us, organized our early departure and even though we hadn’t booked it, offered us coffee and cakes in the morning. We can definitely recommend staying here

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel in Mérida! From the moment I arrived, I could tell that this place is exceptionally well-managed, likely family-owned, and run with genuine care. The entire property was spotless, and the attention to detail in both cleanliness and hospitality was remarkable. Maria and Augustin, along with the rest of the staff, were incredibly warm and welcoming. They not only made me feel at home but also went out of their way to provide great recommendations on what to see and do in the city. Thanks to them, I was able to explore some hidden gems and truly experience the best of Mérida. The rooms had so many personal touches that made my stay even more special—far beyond what you’d expect from a standard hotel. It felt like every detail was thoughtfully curated to ensure comfort and charm. If you’re looking for a place that combines exceptional hospitality, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the perfect spot. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mérida!

Great place to stay for a few days in Merida. Rooms, cozy, very clean, good airconditioning + a ceiling fan, beds are comfortable. Has everything you need for a short stay. Owner and staff are very welcoming, we got great recommendations on places to see, eat, drink and advice on how to get to them. Made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable Would happily stay here again and recommend other do too.

We loved our stay here! Leo was so welcoming and will not let you want for anything. He messaged us information and tips prior to arrival and couldn't do more for us during our stay. Cold bottles a water from the super friendly security guy each night you return plus coffee, juice and a pastry every morning even though breakfast is 'not included'. A cafe/bar in its own right we enjoyed a cold beer here before going out for dinner as the interior is decorated in a beautifully quirky way and nicely lit. We were in room 6 (yellow skull) which had a gorgeous view of the square, comfy bed, practical layout, excellent fan and aircon etc. Hotel La Piazzetta is run with genuine care and excellent attention to detail - we felt really at home. The location is perfect and we walked everywhere.

Parada Turibus Mérida offers an exciting way to discover the charming city of Mérida aboard their iconic bright-red double-decker buses. Operated by a national company, these buses provide a unique experience with recorded narratives available in multiple languages, allowing you to soak in the rich history and culture of the area.
A beautiful way to explore this wounderful town. The tours are in Spanish only, but that is not important. You can see for yourself. A very good start bevore you explore the city and the Theaters, Museums, Churches and much more! Nice stuff. In outher cities it is called Hop on Hop off Bus.
Manuel G — Google review
Their website is full of lies! This tour is only available in Spanish, unlike it says on the website. Even on the registration, it asks for English or Spanish, but it did not matter. Unless you speak Spanish, do not take this tour unless you just want to drive around the city for an hour and a quarter (which was also shorter than the website claimed). Also, it is not a hop on and hop off ride like it says on the bus and on the website. The bus never stopped. I am giving it to stars because it was nice to see the city and one of us spoke Spanish and they understood the history. We took the barrios tour.
Marc. W — Google review
Great way to see the city! Don’t go in mid day if it’s sunny, it gets hot on top. Audio was only in Spanish.
Nicole V — Google review
We were excited to try it out and when we got there we were told by the personnel that it would be another 10 minutes before we would head out but 20 minutes passed by and then we were told there weren't enough people so it would now be another 40 minutes. Total waste of my time!
F M — Google review
Very bad experience! The bus got a flat tire and we had to get off the bus several blocks away from the stop at Paseo 60 and walk back. They did not reimburse the cost of the tickets and neither offer transportation back to the bus stop! Shame!
Ricardo G — Google review
SCAM…I paid for tickets, downloaded the tickets, and they won’t let us on the bus!!! Said their reservation isn’t updated in the system. To sit and wait on the sidewalk for the system to update. NOW they say to wait for the next bus….it ends in 3 hours and I paid for a 12 hour ticket!!!!
Melissa B — Google review
On 12/2/2022 I purchased two tickets via the website to take the bus in Merida. We showed up at the Cathedral in Centro and was denied access. The rep told me she would be a print out of the tickets not the QR code on the email. She proceeded to say she couldn't take it. I lived 30 minutes away and came down just to take the tour. There was no way to get a print out. So I went home and reported the incident. Only to be told she did not have authority not to allow me on the bus? How was I supposed to know a person coming off the bus with a name tag on and conversing with the bus driver did or did not have authority. I was told I would get a ticket and even a courtesy ticket. Neither has come. I only really wanted the refund. So I followed up a week later on whatsapp and email, and nobody ever got back to me. I would recommend to NOT use rheir system to purchase a ticket and HOPE everything goes well. Because if you have any problems there is ZERO resolve. I do not recommend just because none of this interaction makes sense. I'm still living here and regularly don't recommend to people to do this trip.
C M — Google review
I thought it would be a good idea doing this tour but it was not. At first when I told the girl who was handing out the bracelets, she told us that even though we had paid online I had to email her the confirmation directly or else she could not let us ride because she needed confirmation of that purchase. Turibus, does not have a more modernized way of providing their employees purchases made online. So, if you decide on doing this, it might be best to do the purchase with the associates. On the other hand, the trip is done through double-decker bus that has a pre-recorded audio playing during the route. We did not make any stops. We did the North Route at 1:00pm; we sat on the top to take some pictures which was not such a good idea, since we had the hot sun blaring down at first, then some rain, cables and tree branches to duck from. Plus, we did not really see anything interesting other than some vintage homes we did not stop for. When we got back to the initial stop, then told us that the bus tour for the south tour had just left and it was the last one. The only solution we had was to wait for the next one again, which would be doing the same route we had just done. It was absolutely aggravating, and very disappointing experience. We would have been better off doing it on our own.

Los 7 Cenotes - Sales Office is a collection of natural sinkholes near Merida, once used by the Mayans for freshwater. Today, they are popular swimming spots and offer opportunities for scuba diving and cave exploration. These cenotes are formed when limestone bedrock collapses to reveal groundwater, creating clear pools that were vital water sources for the ancient Maya.

We had an Uber drop us off around 11am today, Sunday February 9th. The door was closed no answer when you rang the bell and the next door neighbour had no idea about any office selling tickets to any cenotes. He told us that all he knows is that they sell material/cloth. Have no idea what this is all about. If you're closed on Sunday then you should reflect that on the web page.

This was an absolutely amazing experience we had here with Alicia and her wonderful staff in this incredibly beautiful and magical place! First, let me start by saying that you must make reservations in advance. This is not simply visiting a swimming hole, it is an entire experience that includes bike riding, bungee jumping, swimming and snorkeling in a beautiful open cenote, snacks, an amazing “leap of faith” experience in a closed cenote underground, with a wonderful meal at the end to celebrate, with all drinks included. This is suitable for all age groups and even small children; there were a few in our group. I have visited many cenotes in Mexico over the years and this is far and away the most fantastic not to be missed experience. Remember to book in advance and get ready for a unique and unforgettable experience.

It is much less crowded than any of the others and they do offer private tours. I loved every minute of this tour!

For all those who have traveled the world or those who are looking for a unique Experience, Los 7 Cenotes IS THE REAL THING and has no comparison. If you have visited the Colosseum, the Amazon, Kilimanjaro, Everest. Chichen Itza, the Great Wall of China, etc you are in for a big surprise. This is not a tour or a trip as going to those places. Los 7 Cenotes will become the best Experience of your life and you are going to want to go back with more friends and relatives to share that Experience with them. Without giving out any spoilers, you will connect with nature and the Mayan culture and spirit and be in the center of an environment that has taken millions of years to evolve and is still alive. Nothing compares to this place. Everybody is trying to sell an "Experience", THIS IS IT . This place will connect with your soul and leave a mark. In addition, the quality of service from Ricardo, Alicia and the entire crew is superb, exceeds the 5 stars. If you really want to Experience something new, different, that will create a lasting memory for the rest of your life, visit Los 7 Cenotes. I will go back again ! Congratulations !

Bought a hip pair of shoes from Mauricio from a friend's recommendation. I wish they had more selections on hand but they keep selling out. If you want to secure a pair of a specific design, I recommend you go in to pre-order them and wait for the store to receive them later in the month. Luckily, they had one pair in my size that I actually liked. Next time I'm in Merida, I'll be sure to come back earlier to pick up more pairs for me and as gifts. :)

Absolutely beautiful merchandise. If I owned a home, I would love to furnish it with several things we saw here. The furniture and textiles are so, so nice.
Steph C — Google review
Lovely store with an array of products, all made by artisans in Mexico. I took with me 8 handmade bull horn napkin holders that I will cherish and pass on to someone when it’s time. They have home decor, clothing, accessories, and so many other handmade gorgeous products. The price might be a bit elevated for some but the quality and craftsmanship reflects that.

Staff was very rude and unhelpful. I was excited about this place but it ended up being just another overpriced store.
