Every detail about this restaurant was amazing. kid friendly. We had the friendliest waitress and the food was AMAZING. I would come back here every time I visit Mérida. Not only was it the best meal we had while we were there, it was also very affordable!

Wow! This place has GREAT FOOD. The atmosphere is relaxed but up market, the service is phenomenal, Im so excited that we ate here it was truly delicious and a great time! Will be coming back if im in Merida again. The unique take on mezcal drinks is really something and it was one of the highlights along the beef ribs and the octopus. I have had A LOT of great food across continents and this is up there with the best.

Excellent! I loved everything about this place. Casual setting with very sophisticated cuisine and outstanding service! We ordered Bone marrow and Shrimp ceviche for appetisers, Octopus, and Cauliflower for dinner, Sorbet cheesecake for dessert. Everything was amazing! The flavours , and their combinations were beyond any of my expectations, food presentation was excellent too! I definitely recommend

Great place with delicious and ingenious twist of typical dishes . We had an oopsie with one of the dishes but the staff was quick to solve the issue. We had lentils with pork belly and octopus that tasted like BBQ but better :). Higher than average prices but the food is worth it.

The service was first rate. We didn’t have a reservation but it is recommended. We enjoyed our food, and the nice dessert they gave us for our anniversary celebration.

The service was fantastic, my server, Victor, helped me pick from the large selection of Mezcals and answered all of my questions (in English). And the octopus was delicious!

What a great restaurant. Welcoming staff, delicious food, pleasant family friendly atmosphere. We have the cochinita pibil and poc chuc. Both were tender, juicy and delicious. The service was very attentive. We didn't have to wait. It was so good we went back a second timime on our last night in Merida. Delicious!

After all the amazing reviews and coverage this place gets, we thought we had to try it for ourselves and went to two of their locations within a few days. While the atmosphere is nice, feels very authentic, and the corn tortillas being prepared in real-time is great, I found the food to be quite bland. The meals looked delicious but flavor was lacking in most of it. The staff was lovely and helpful.

Great place to get a bunch of typical yucatecan food in one place. This location is quite spacious and indoors if you're looking for AC and fewer mosquitos. We had the sopa de lima, a vaporcito, and poc chuc and with the complimentary totopos and dips (frijoles, salsa habanera, and a pumpkin seed dip), we had plenty of food.

Despite the line for a table these guys move fast and efficient. Food was delivered fast a promptly, great taste, hot and delicious. Great atmosphere of traditional Yucateca dishes. Server was very efficient and always checking on us.

Was my first time in Merida Yucatan Mexico and my friend sed let's go to La Chaya Maya and we went , it was sooo delicious 😋 the ladies are making the corn tortillas right in front of you and there is a parking right before u reach on your right hand u get your ticket and before u left La Chaya Maya tell them to stamp it u will get a discount or maybe u even have to pay for the parking , and let me tell u the have 2 La Chaya Maya and 2 of them are same distance from the Parking u can just ask the parking person , as u come out of the parking if u go to your right hand u do straight on the corner and the next to your left hand and as u reach corner u take your right hand little down and on your right hand there 😉 enjoy.

Someone we met in Merida recommended this place and we're certainly glad that they did. It was amazing. Very very crowded but we only waited about 5 minutes. Everything was amazing.

We had dinner here last night. It is located outside in Parque de Santa Lucia. It was a little warm to sit outside but the breeze made it bearable. The street vendors do go table by table trying to sell things so if the bothers you, there are a couple of tables inside as well. The appetizers were wonderful, and the fish of the day with gnocchi, was fantastic!

While the food we had was really good, they didn’t have half the menu (aka everything we originally wanted to order). This was quite disappointing as you can imagine. The service was friendly and the inside of the restaurant, which only has a couple of tables, was quite nice. If you don’t like street vendors interrupting your dinner, make sure to make a reservation for inside! I don’t think this is a must visit spot in Merida unfortunately.

The food was excellent. Complementary thin tortillas were fun and tasty, grilled octopus tacos were larger than expected and cooked well. Local sea bass was flavored nicely. We had a large meal and drinks 3 hours ago so weren’t hungry but decided to try this place anyway given it’s our last night. It feels that the waiter was disappointed that we didn’t order more so the service was lukewarm but polite in general. This appears to be an upscale restaurant and they do expect at least 15% tip.

We had the best meal of Merida so far. Each one of us (4 total) had different meals and preferences, and we were all blown away by the food. One in our group was recovering from the stomach bug and the waiter was able to get a lime + bitters + club soda mocktail made for him because bitters help to settle the stomach. Each part of our meal was delicious and muy bonito! I loved my octopus and scallop ceviche!

Apoala is a wonderful restaurant located in Parque de Santa Lucia focused on regional Mexican cuisine presented in an elevated fashion, with a focus on small plates. You can choose to eat al fresco on their spacious patio (with beautiful lighting in the evening) or dine indoors in their admittedly quite dark but cool in temperature restaurant. The cocktails on the menu are a gem—mezcal focused yet very complex in flavor. I particularly recommend the Mayahuel, with mezcal, yellow chartreuse, and lime presented with a large sprig of rosemary set aflame and scenting the cocktail with its flavorful smoke. I would give Apoala five stars except for the fact that one of the dishes I ordered was the “Pasta of the Day” with ingredients varying day by day. I asked what was included in the pasta that day and there was no mention of any nuts, which is important because I am allergic to tree nuts. When the pasta was served, I did not observe anything amiss but felt a distinct crunch on my second bite. I investigated further within the pasta with my fork and discovered a nut. I immediately called a server and pointed it out, but he initially said I had just tasted a pumpkin seed. I then pointed at the very distinct nut in the pasta, at which point they took the dish away. I said I would have to leave at that point to go to a pharmacy to get a strong antihistamine so my throat would not begin swelling, but the head server then offered me two doses of an antihistamine (loratidine) kept at the host stand (which now makes me wonder how often common allergens go unlisted on their menu and customers have allergic reactions). I took the antihistamine and then asked for the check, on which the “Pasta of the Day” was not included (which was only right considering I had two bites and was not able to eat it due to it containing an unlisted allergen). Despite my experience with the unlisted nuts, I would still return to Apoala in a heartbeat and I would strongly recommend you visit as well because their food and cocktails really are wonderful. I would simply recommend disclosing any allergies before ordering and asking very specifically if a dish contains something you are allergic to before ordering. I have been to Apoala many times in the past and will certainly return again, if just for another Mayahuel cocktail.

Restaurant is inside a fun little square. No A/C but the ambiance was nice! There are local people who walk up to the table to try to sell you souveniers, but if you wave them off they walk away quietly. Food: Picana tacos were a hit, especially loved the green tomato garnish on the tacos. We tried the verde salad which was very good and a seafood appetizer which was also tasty. Drinks: the mezcal drinks are on the light/weak side, but have good flavor and fun presentation (mine had flaming rosemary). Will return and try more items.

The food here was fantastic, really great attention to detail. The spicy margaritas were the best ones we had in all of Merida!oat restaurants won’t really make the margarita spicy but they showed they cared by listening to our needs! It’s pricey but great value. Definitely would recommend

The portions were generous, the flavors bold and fresh, and every bite was a delight. Our server, Junior, was incredible—attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had a great experience. The highlight of the evening was the courtyard light show. Sitting under the stars, enjoying delicious food, and watching the mesmerizing display made for an incredibly unique and immersive dining experience. It felt like a blend of art, nature, and culture, creating an ambiance that was both elevated and welcoming. If you're visiting Mérida, Catrín is an absolute must-visit. With its incredible food, stunning atmosphere, and top-tier service, it's the kind of place you'll want to return to again and again!

The food was super good, we enjoyed what we ate. The music gives a nice atmosphere to the place. However, we were a bit disappointed by the waiter’s reaction after we paid: seemed our tip was insufficient to him and all of a sudden he became quite impolite. As students, we thought 5% would be enough? It was a pity to end this wonderful diner like that.

Unique atmosphere with painted mural walk including light show in an intimate courtyard. Food was great with generous portions. Michael our waiter did a great job meeting our needs especially since we do not speak Spanish. Highly recommend it for night out in Merida.

Went on a quiet Wednesday lunch. Staff was friendly but I found the food is quite mediocre. I craved rice and their hot ate seafood rice dish was delicious but need a bit more seasoning. Cocktail was awesome though recommended by the lovely waiter

We went there twice during our week-long stay in Merida. We like it a lot. Quite, well taken care of, place. The service was great! We have 0 Spanish knowledge 🥲 yet we didn’t feel lost or left out. The food was great and the price is reasonable (the average of that area). Would recommend!

Best food I’ve had in Merida. Run. Don’t walk to try their cochinillo pibil. We had asked locals where they eat and this spot was recommended. I’d make a whole trip to Merida just for this. Also. Fresh squeezed oj and great service. But between the hot sauce, proper tortillas and succulent pig, life is worth living all over again. Updating my review because we kept coming back to eat here. It was THAT DELICIOUS. Oh and they have their own PARKING

Saturday early Lunch. 4 top. Order: Pitcher of Agua de Chaya and Lima. EXCELLENT Ponchos de Cochinta- dry meat, needed flavor Cochinta Pibil. Good but was expecting more after watching Taco Chronicles on Netflix. Sopa the Lima- not what I was expecting. Mid at best. Service. SLOW. My Cochinta plate came out like 30min after everyone got their's. Pretty much everyone was done when I got my food. What's actually hard to get the waiter's attention. Nowhere to be seen. Unfortunately, I cannot say I will be back. Dark interior. Outside beautiful.

Wow wow wow. The cochinita pibil was outstanding, I want to go back for more already. Wonderful. It's unfair for us to rate the atmosphere because as we were the only ones in there. It was 4pm in 41 degrees. We just wish they were open for dinner.

V nice place in downtown merida... the cochinita pibil was yummy (better the next day honestly!) The ambience is lovely outside (indoors is dark)... my favorite was the delicious chaya limon - this local lemonade drink special to the yucatan. Must try!

Amazing food and a feminist bookstore in one. If they have the Chile Relleno on special, get it. It's huge, packed with ingredients, and will ruin the tex mex dish you think is good. Very attentive service. They get by with English. The front is a bar, the back is a patio under a thick foliage. We had five dishes and all were top tier.

Fantastic, fresh, and authentic Mexican food in a lovely atmosphere with plenty of wall art. Had the enchiladas with pollo asada, the guacamole, and the flan. All were really really flavorful. Also ordered two different types of lemonade (don’t skip the lemonade!) and some mezcal drinks. It’s a bit of a walk from the center of town but absolutely worth it. The staff here is lovely also!

Wonderful & delicious restaurant in Mérida! The aguas frescas were refreshing & we appreciated the unique flavors they offered. The seafood tasted very fresh, we ordered the Pacifico which was a tasty guacamole and side of marinated shrimp, the aguachile was phenomenal. I tried the vegan chile enogada, it was also tasty. It’s a uniquely Mexican dish, I was recommended to try these chiles specifically in Mèrida. The outdoor patio is beautifully shaded & they provide bug spray for your comfort. No AC & mosquitos but that’s not a complaint, it just is what it is, sometimes you’ve just got to embrace the natural atmosphere of a place! Highly recommend for their fresh seafood, tasty food & enjoyable patio.

Delicious food! Probably the best we had in Merida. Both moles were amazing. And the garden is very peaceful. Tons of options for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores It's just great all around.

If you have not eaten their Chile en Nogada then you are missing out. This is the most flavorful that I’ve had in Mexico. I’ve tasted many, many in Puebla, CDMX Merida and elsewhere in Mexico and in pricey restaurants and this is by far the best.

The food was very good here. Three of us had the wagyu beef burgers and they were delicious. They came with a small amount of fries which was appreciated, since they wouldn't go to waste.....like other establishments giving huge servings. (People have to remember large servings does not mean good food!!) Anyway some things that should be pointed out: the menu shows the ability to get "extra" shrimp with your burger for 90 pesos. The way it's worded makes you expect you're getting shrimp with your hamburger but you're not. Actually one of us at the table ordered shrimp with the burger and never got it. We just ignored it, as it didn't really matter. The other thing on the menu said there were pickles on the burger which I was happy about, but there were no pickles when it was put in front of me. The dessert was delicious and very beautifully presented. I would go back because the food was so good. The service could have been a bit more attentive, and note that although the wagyu beef burger was delicious it was quite expensive.

I had a great experience at the restaurant, but unfortunately, when I called to request my invoice, the person in charge was neither courteous nor helpful. She didn’t offer any alternatives and simply stated that invoices must be requested on the same day of the visit. This approach shifts an internal operational issue onto the customer, which affects the overall experience. I hope this feedback helps improve the invoicing process and customer service moving forward.

Edier was our waiter and he was great! We ordered the tuna appetizer and my husband order the cowboy steak with grilled vegetables and potato wrapped in cheese that was excellent. The restaurant is really beautiful great atmosphere! I highly recommend if!

Amazing place and service. Our server Nair took great care of us and made great recommendations. We started off with guac and pork belly, the blue corn tortillas gave it an extra nice touch. Our entrees were Steak Frites, Filete Chemita, Pasta with shrimp and a Salmon with pistachio crust. All of the plates were really tasty and cooked to perfection. We ended the night with the Chichen Itzá dessert tower. All good and would definitely recommend.

Service was good. The venue was modern. Prices were ok. Food menu was varied, the new york and the shrimp tacos were very tasty. Esquites were very tasty. Dulce de leche molten cake was tasty, maybe too many garments (red fruits and jelly) and it can be more simple. Cocktails were good. Had the kiwi mezcal one. Overall a good option to eat in Merida.

Best restaurant in Merida. The food was delicious. The beer was rare and tasty. The atmosphere is so good. Spent very nice a few hours with my wife and kids. Definitely will visit again when I'm in the area.

Foreigners be aware! We visited this restaurant based in the Google reviews. We were 6 people 5 Foreigners and 1 mexican. When they asked for the list of wines they said that they didn't have one so they brought 3 bottles so my friends picked one around $1000 pesos when they ask for the second they didn't have the same so they picked another around the same price and when they asked for the second of that they didn't have it so they try to offered a more expensive one. The food was ok, the service we had from Manuel the waiter was perfect, the man pouring the wine was with very sour face, wasn't happy because we complained about the wine. Anyway I certainly won't be back and definitely won't recommend it as I think they are trying to scam us to purchase more expensive wine. We tried la Recova the previous night and was fantastic service and food. We have trying different places and this is one of the worst.

La Pigua was our favorite high-end restaurant in Merida! Great atmosphere, very nice waiter and food, absolutely delicious!!! We ordered coconut shrimp, jumbo size and very tasty! Then we ordered a 650-gram lobster, this was a monster lobster cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth juicy lobster, probably one of the best lobsters I have had and highly recommend!! We followed this with their in-house dessert, coconut cake, this was very good also, if you like Tres Leches, you will love this dessert! All in all, one of the best restaurants in the Yucatan!

This has been a Merida institution for seafood amongst locals. It has been totally remodeled over the past few years. The service was up to standard as was the decor. A little more effort on the presentation, the food was ok. The pulpo served right and the shrimp a bit over cooked… it was a pleasant meal. $$&

Good place to enjoy ‘Mariscos’ in Merida

We were seated and served promptly. My wife’s favorite is grilled octopus and they didn’t disappoint. I had the special la pigua prawns with garlic butter. Everything was good and so was their special chocolate dessert.

Foods are delicious and service is great. You would not find prices on their website maybe because of seafood is seasonal. The main course are about MX300-400. It’s expensive for here standard. We made reservations but there are many tables available.

We had a great dinner at the La Pigua in Campeche and decided to try the Merida restaurant. It was a good decision as we had another great meal. The menus are similar in both restaurants and for this meal we tried different items. I had a grilled fish filet with ajillo peppers and my wife tried piguas, something very different. Both entrees were excellent and we ended up ordering coconut shrimp, which was also excellent. Overall, a very pleasant restaurant experience, with a professional wait staff.

Im still thinking about the food here! It truly is fantastic seafood. It’s a very simple spot, you might even walk right by without noticing, but the food is outstanding. We had the Shrimp cocktail and ceviche for lunch. The place closes at 3pm. As soon as we were finished we wanted to order more. Service was fantastic and the price was right. Honestly you’d pay triple for this quality of seafood elsewhere. ¡Gracias por tan delicioso almuerzo!

THE best food in Mérida and possibly in Mexico, we came here from the local recommendation and werent disappointed. Their fried octopus ceviche is fantastic and fajitas de camaron absolutely delicious. You wont find more local place to eat.

Their tostada de pulpo was tender and delicious. It was my favourite dish by far. Their fajitas are also really good.

The food was really good, I ordered ceviche and shrimp Fajitas. The service was okay, nothing special. The atmosphere can be improved, it’s a very basic place. Don’t expect much.

Excellent restaurant! Very well priced, large portions. The Blue Marlin does a lot of business, as a result their seafood is constantly being turned over and is always fresh!! If you want a place that's fancy this is not it, but if you want excellent food, good service, and a great time I recommend the El Marlin Azul!

Local seafood meal. Maybe the best value for taste restaurant in Merida. The fish pastor was well seasoned without overpowering the fish. Unpretentious, but prepared with love. I will definitely come back often.

I usually order my meal in the evenings..I have been going there since April of this year.. yesterday's service was different..not welcoming..just everyone kind of doing their own thing.. despite spending $1600+ everytime I go there.. yesterday was my last time.Customer service is very important to me.Overpriced seafood and poor service was the deal breaker.

Our favorite dish of all was the smoky shrimp over rice. the pumpkin appetizer is a must try. i wish we would have saved more room for a second dessert. we shared a light one with tofu & celery. imaginative and delicious. We dined at Kuuk 9/20/25. This is a big house that was converted into a restaurant. What used to be bedrooms have now been converted in dining areas and the room we were seated in accommodated 3 tables for dining. Pedro, our waiter, always seemed in a rush! We ordered pulpo and esquite as our starter. The pulpo was delicious and the esquite, I did not care for, the corn was not to my liking. Then 4 guests arrived and ordered the chef prefix which is a lot of small portions of food and drinks throughout the dining experience which if I remember correctly is $2100.00 per person. So, what happened once that table started ordering, all the attention and service was totally devoted to that table. That left us, a table of 2 and another table of 2 guests also dining in that one room. Service was “Horrible”! … “NO” Service for the other 2 tables of 2 guests! When we were done eating, I asked for a dessert menu. I started asking the waiter Pedro questions and then suddenly, tells me, look over the menu and think of what you might like and then Pedro took off to the table of 4 guest that ordered prefix. It was a very good while before Pedro came back and asked, ok, so what would you like for dessert. At that point I told him, “I don’t care to order dessert, I am ready for the check”. Then as the hostess came to our table with the terminal to tally us out, Pedro appears at our table stating it was our anniversary and here is a dessert on us. The timing was 100% off as Pedro was too busy catering to the table that ordered the Prefix. We were ready to leave much less have dessert at this point!!! The Hostess was very lovely, personable young girl who later showed us what used to be a private house. The bottom line to Kuuk is “I would NOT recommend this restaurant to any of my friends or anyone one in general!”

We had an amazing Bordeaux with our food thanks to the sommelier for making a great suggestion. The staff was very good even though there was a horribly rude Dutch family playing board games next to us and treating the staff poorly the staff was professional and always smiled. It was a great experience. Europeans, please don’t act rude to Mexicans!

Kuuk is the finest dining experience in Mérida. Exceptional quality, variety and execution. Great ambience and top service as well. Great wine list with a large selection of Mexican wines and solid representations from everywhere else in the world. Love coming here anytime I am in Merida.

Went to celebrate a birthday on Sunday for lunch 3pm. The menu is spectacular! We had robalo and shrimps. Delicious!! But, the Waiter was really not pleasant all the time and the restaurant was totally empty, we were the only table. The waiter seemed upset and in a rush. Food is good! Site is beautiful.

Of course we did the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Not much that can be said that probably hasnt been said before. The service is great but it felt a bit impersonal compared to other restaurants of this stature. The food is bold and it's nice that they introduce you, or at least not let you forget that you're eating ingredients not found elsewhere. The physical place is gorgeous.

The service was outstanding. Traditional food with a modern touch, expensive for what was served. Everything needed a bit more attention, the lime soup was excellent once we requested and added some salt. The rooms were beautiful but the noise from the bar reverberates though-out making conversation difficult.

Very fun lively atmosphere, live Cuban band. The music great, somewhat crowded but people had no problem creating space to dance. Wasn't able to have food or drinks as we had to wait outside in line and by the time we entered the kitchen was closed. So if going on a Friday get there before 8 pm to enjoy the full experience.

My husband and I decided we had wanted to hear some live music and this was a recommendation we received. And this was an amazing experience. Live music, people dancing, smiled abound. A happy mix of locals and tourists all enjoying the sounds and tastes of this super cool cantina! As we sat a waiter came around with some yummy little bites, (free) before we even ordered drinks! We ordered a few Bohemias and then our meals, which WHOA the portion sizes were beyond expectations. My husband had shrimp and langoniza quesadillas which were massive and delicious! I had a mixed plate of 4 tacos and that too, amazing and quite generous in size! As we did not know nor expect the portion sizes to be so large we ordered some guacamole with pork rings! Best guacamole we've ever eaten and even the waiter was surprised at the amount of food we ordered, and virtually finished! If you want to hear some live music, have some amazing food and even dance a little, THIS IS THE PLACE! All of this with shots of mezcal and a few beers and tip came to about 55-60usd! Don't miss this place!

Very fun lively atmosphere with a live band. The music great (and local) Was given complimentary chips at the beginning. We also ordered nachos with pollo (chicken) - massive portion! It was a Friday and we were there around 7:45 onwards but it was busy!! Online menu is extensive and it reached via a QR code. Only negative point is that the cocktails are super watered down and sugary - Probably why many tables were ordering just beer.

I came for the mezcal flight with chapulines but was told after getting the flight they didn’t have. He didn’t explain the types of mezcal either. For $300 pesos it could have been a better experience. Drinks are big but not the best.

The music and vibe were excellent, but the service really soured our experience. We never received botanas after asking twice and waiting an hour, even though others around us did. We would have ordered food too, but we were so discouraged by the slow service that we didn’t want to risk it. It’s a busy place, but they’re busy every night, so I would think they would know how to plan better for it. La Negrita has all the makings of excellence, but falls short on execution.

My girlfriend and I came for the North African / Middle East special breakfast dish Shakshuka. It was delicious. Very authentic with cumin, paprika, eggplant, eggs, tomato sauce and beautiful pita bread. Also terrific coffee and service. Def be back again.

This Pita place is a great spot for anyone who enjoys Middle Eastern–Mediterranean flavors. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and especially the New York steak pita and salmon pita are highly recommended. Today after a disappointing visit to another place, we found this Mediterranean restaurant while looking for something healthy and tasty - and it exceeded our expectations. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive, constantly making sure we were comfortable and enjoying everything. He even made the effort to speak a little English, which was such a thoughtful touch. We ordered the tzatziki with pita bread, lamb kebab with Israeli salad, and a hibiscus drink—everything was absolutely delicious, and the hibiscus was especially fresh and refreshing. The atmosphere was lovely too. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Miguel was the best waiter! But the food was absolutely incredible. I’ve never had pita bread so soft and tasty. The pita sandwiches were extremely delicious, seriously! The hummus was also 100%. I had to write this recommendation before I left the restaurant because I didn’t want to forget.

Delicious food, great portion size and fast service. Starters would have been enough for me, but since I didn’t check the portion size first, I ended up having a feast again. The food was great in taste and served rapidly and they looked good as well. As for the pita, it was really good too, better than from other places I tried around. If you’re around the area, give it a try, it’s worth it.

Delicious Mediterranean cuisine in the heart of Mérida We came across this wonderful little place for lunch and we're so glad we did. It may not be authentic Mexican cuisine, but it certainly was delicious and hit the spot! There were several dining location choices here: inside with air conditioning, inside without air conditioning, and al fresco on a beautiful enclosed garden patio, and that's what we chose. Our vegetarian meal of falafel, hummus, and salad was perfect, and we recommend "Jamaica" (hibiscus) tea as the perfect accompaniment. Our server David was friendly and knowledgeable - he even gave us tips on making hibiscus tea at home. We recommend this restaurant 100% as it is friendly, clean, and delicious.

Solid food though all in all I was not impressed by “comida yucateca”. My wife and I tried Relleno negro and Pollo pibil, the latter being much better. But certainly the best was delicious soup Sopa de lima which we both adored. Huge portion. Excellent service. Nice atmosphere, not super clean and new restaurant but one feels well and relaxed there. Very decent prices.

Not the best but definitely not bad. We went twice in a week because we felt it tasted good and was well priced given the location and area. The sopa the lima is good but we definitely had better. Same with panuchos and salbutes. Cochinita pibil was pretty tasty but could be smokier. Flan was only ok. Too bad because it looked very good. Suggestion: save your stomach and go get yourself marquesitas or ice cream outside instead. Special mention to the nacho and guacomole. Great serving size and creamy guacamole. We really enjoyed it. Special shout out to the freshly pressed fruit drinks. They were pretty good too. Beers are actually fairly priced. The service was great. Took orders rapidly and came back often to check on us. Note about atmosphere: if sitting close to toilets bothers you then avoid the tables closest to toilets.

It's definitely the best breakfast in the 2 weeks we have been here. Frankly, some of the best food period. The salsa and pico are fantastic! My arrachera tacos were cooked perfectly. Even the burger my kids had was great. Would highly recommend.

We were staying in Merida (visiting from New Zealand) and wanted to find cheap and cheerful local food. This is the place to find it! Great food for good prices… this became our main place to eat. And the rojo ojo (chilli beer) was great. Try it!

If you’re in the mood for a quick breakfast and coffee fix, this place is your go-to spot. They have refillable coffee, and the food is decent, nothing fancy. The service is usually pretty quick and friendly too. You’ll notice they have old loyal customers who know the staff and enjoy hanging out there.

A nice local diner with choices of coffee, juice and a bunch of brunch dishes. It’s also open during night. Atmosphere is quiet and waiters are very patient to help non-Spanish speakers with translator. Tried Huevos motuleños and Chicken in Salsa Sauce. Complimentary French bread and white toast smells really good. They are great match with salsa. The salsa is only a little spicy. Love both! The fresh melon juice is very refreshing.

This is very nice place for breakfast and or lunch. I had breakfast of scrambled eggs with bacon. It came with toast and fruit cup. Spouse had chicken fajitas. All was very good. Service is good. Place is clean. Mostly local when I visited and mostly Spanish spoken. Highly recommended.

The name is wrong on these pics. It's actually Cafetería Pop, which is right next door and owned by the same people. This is the first restaurant I remember eating at in Mérida back in 1992 when I was a little kid! These days my kids and I go about once a week, and it's their absolute favorite. My 7 year old lives for their sopa de lima. The servers are the absolute best I've ever encountered, and the food is fabulous. They have standard diner fare, Mexican specialties, and a cool 1970's decor.

I love ordering club sandwiches in Mexico. You never know what you're going to get! This one was chicken salad on one side, ham cheese lettuce and tomato on the other. Toast was crispy. Nice coleslaw and a few fries. Nothing fancy, but tastes good and inexpensive.

The food and its presentation was creative here and the flavours were very good. All 4 of us had different main course dishes. Short ribs were excellent, fish of the day was also excellent. The lamb burger was ordered well done, but it was still quite pink inside.... But the flavours were very good. My pasta dish with truffle oil was delicious, and just the right amount. The appetizers were okay, but we all felt the desserts were just excellent! My partner said it was the best dessert he'd ever had in Mérida. There was a very limited selection of red wines the evening we were there, and we're thinking there was a problem with the air conditioning because it was terribly hot and they had a fan running. It was a great dining experience overall.

My boyfriend and I had an incredible time at Nectar. David was our waiter and he was more than fantastic. We both had the 7 course dinner. I had the lamb, and he had the quail. Both were delicious. Our favorite was the mamey sorbet desert. Perfect portions, atmosphere, and staff. Thank you Nectar for a beautiful date night!

Perfect experience from the minute we walked in! The only thing better than the food, was the service. Jorge was attentive and knowledgeable. He made the evening a great first experience for us. Had the 5 course tasting and was immediately impressed by all the flavors and textures.

Nectar was a nice treat while visiting Merida. My group I enjoyed a very nice meal. Enjoyed the relaxed, friendly welcoming atmosphere the music was good too and not too loud. However, the location is a bit strange insofar as my view from the table was the parking lot and through out the meal I was somewhat blinded by the lights of cars that were parking right in front of the building. We chose the 7 course tasting meun which was good but perhaps needed more balance of the course offerings. The group favorite items were the pork belly taco and the grilled red snapper. The entre finale pork chop was over cooked a bit tough and dry and disappointing. The coconut dessert was nice and the yogurt dessert was interesting but seemed unnecessary and didn't pair well with the tasting menu. It would have been nice to have something light a fruity like a sorbet. The service was good but lower than expected as there were mistakes throughout. It seemed some of the service staff may have been in training, but not sure. In fact the last dish was served to everyone at the table but one person. The service staff came back and forth but it took awhile before they noticed the person did not have their dish. They brought as soon as they noticed but a restaurant rated highly as their you'd expect more stellar service. But all in all not a bad dining experience. But didn't quite meet my expectations. But by all means still worth trying...

Had the 7 course set menu but swapped out the pork chop for the picanha special, which was amazing. The final dessert was some weird garlic experimental thing that was disgusting but overall the course was really good.

Jesus, our server was outstanding. He was the highlight of the evening. Great job! However… The owner, Roberto Solis, came into the restaurant, shortly after my partner and I sat down - we were the only seated patrons at the time, right next to the kitchen. He spent time chatting with the kitchen staff, looked our way a number of times, but never so much as even smiled in our general direction. Yet, with each subsequent table (of locals) that came in, he greeted them, spent time talking to them, and even sat at one table for the vast majority of their meal. Us? We were never even acknowledged. I’m typically not paranoid nor a complainer but, we were clearly the only Americans in the restaurant and it felt like a deliberate snub. The vast majority of the food was delightful, but the pork chop was nearly inedible. It looked lovely and had a great flavor but it was 90% fat. There was so much left on the plate that the server asked my partner if he wanted a to-go box. Hard pass. Jesus, our server, was, as mentioned, wonderful - and the restaurant is beautiful. Being able to watch the kitchen while at work was akin to sitting at a chef’s table & very much enjoyable but… For the cost of the food, I expect it all to be exemplary - Not inedible. To note: I grew up in the restaurant business and I would’ve fired an employee if he behaved like the owner did - it was just a slap in the face. Won’t be back & won’t be recommending to others. Do better.

Their menu has some delightful gems! The star of our meal was a caramelized onion sheet! Wow. So fun to eat. Also we ordered a "venado almendrado" venison; AMAZING, unforgettable. The rest of the meal was good and the service of our waiter was impeccable.

After four visits to this restaurant, this is my review. The staff is very friendly. Really good drinks and desserts. However the food can be really good sometimes and so, so other times. Make sure to spray yourself for mosquitoes.

OK place re atmosphere (3-4)but not a good value for money (2). Live music in patio was a single male singer with a guitar, but a bit too loud and unpleasant (2). So better inside. Had the queso relleno, which was too salty (1). The (expensive) mojito was made with lime juice (?? Zero star for that!) The margarita replacement was good though. To be fair, mojito was not added to the bill when I complained.

My husband and came to this place on three different occasions. We so loved it. The food was so delicious. The wait staff was so kind. We definitely recommend this place. We had asked our waiter on what cenotes to go visit. He went out of his way to go get someone to book a tour. We will definitely be coming back to this place the next time we return to Merida.

We came here on a Tuesday night late to have a drink. The staff greeted us with up arms with no pressure and we left that night only having a few drinks. But we left feeling like we made new friends. We came back the following night for dinner and alls I can say is WOW!!!! The food was unbelievably delicious 🤤 the best food I’ve ever had in Mérida!!! This restaurant is a must visit!!!! You will leave feeling like family. I highly recommend Coyote Maya and Miguel the manager to all my friends and family and fellow travelers.

One of the few restaurants in Centro that serve good food for a decent price. This is our second visit, this time with fiends, one of whom is a chef. We all enjoyed our meals. Definitely worth trying...back patio is nice, away from the street noise.

It is a lovely place. They have karaoke, anyone can sing on the stage. Lots of fun there. Food are well cooked, all are tasty.

They had a band playing on the front patio on Friday night, and Aperol spritz were 2 for 1 (175 pesos) which I enjoyed! People started singing karaoke around 10pm - cool spot to hang out.

In all all honesty this place is super good 10/10 the vibes, food, service and price well worth it especially with the sun Merida has. There was a waitress very attentive, pleasant, and helpful. I highly recommend this establishment I recommend the ceviche and the octopus plate very good and amazing drinks.

Place is really nice in visuals but the amount of food you get for 250 pesos is so small and it didn’t taste great. I struggled to eat the fish and chips. The presentation wasn’t appetizing I didn’t even wanna take a photo. If you wanna go for just drinks and vibes that it’s fine but the food isn’t there , especially for the price. And not to mention the pressure to leave a big tip.

We had high hopes as a lot of people review it highly on restaurants in Merida, however food and service both average. Prawn tacos were ok, but the worst was the gorditas; they were so dry. It was busy but service was slow. We weren't given any plates or cutlery, having to take it in turns to eat off the same plate. We were never offered anything, and had to ask for salsa. Live music and atmosphere was great however.

This is actually more of a bar than a restaurant. Music it’s so loud. It’s hard to hear the conversations at the table. When you order drinks they bring you snacks, and lots of them. So when you do order food, you're too full to eat it.

My first experience dining in Merida was here. Our server took a long time to give us menus and take or orders. He barely interacted with us and we had an uncomfortable dining experience. When he finally came to take our empty glasses he snatched them off the table. We also needed to track him down to get the check. I thanked him several times throughout our dining experience and I didn’t get any acknowledgment from him at all. This was the worst dining experience I have had in Mexico. Every other restaurant I have visited is warm and welcoming. I come to Mexico because of the hospitality. He’s in the wrong line of work if he hates people or his profession. This experience ruined my view of Merida’s hospitality industry. I’m hoping the next restaurants I visit here employee servers who like their professions.

I am so glad that a tour guide recommended this place!!! I visited on the same day she recommended it (December 27). They serve traditional Yucatán food. This was definitely one of my favorite two restaurants visited in Merida. They are definitely friendly to tourists and the atmosphere is very comfortable and positive. The waiters seemed hardworking, attentive, and friendly. The prices were reasonable, portions good, and the FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING. I ordered Sopa de Lima and Papadzules con Loganiza. I also ordered a few Micheladas which were great. This was my first time experiencing “snacks” in a restaurant. The tour guide mentioned it but for ever order they bring what had to be at least 4 or more snacks which were traditional food samples so not only did I get to try the foods I paid for, but also other traditional food such as Kibis, a type of bread, and more. I enjoyed all of the snacks and you will definitely be full leaving here. I was so happy and hope they keep doing the snacks for guests. I cannot say enough how great the service was, how comfortable it was, and I cannot wait to go back. It was a top highlight of my vacation!

The workers were extremely rude and disrespectful. They ignored my requests, I had to say/shout “disculpe” about 10 times before I got a response. Food was also very dry. The gorditas are not freshly made and they crumbled. Also the bathroom was horrible.

Amazing. We ordered 6 gorditas between the two of us and we were super full. Every single one was tasty. We just picked 5 at random and ask the girl as the cashier for her recommendation for one of them. Food tasted great, super quick service, friendly staff, good price. Would definitely recommend.

Many tourist skip this place, Don't!!! Gooooo! Try EVERYTHING! The women there are amazing. Friendly and efficient! Okay they laughed at me explaining cochinita pibil is not chichèn itza pibil. But the horchata and jamaica water there is great. But greatest of all is how inexpensive the food is, and how filling, tasty and comforting. Sure its plastic chairs and painting is pealing. Dont go to expensive places to try what locals line up to get. Go eat it. Buy for takeway, and eat it in the park!

Absolutely incredible food. I got the cheese and beans and the cheese and mushrooms. Took them to watch a Pok ta Pok tournament just outside the restaurant. This was a month ago and my mouth is still watering thinking about these😅

This is a bit upscale seafood, they prepare just about any kind of seafood. Service was good, Prices okay, Good Flavor. In case you need you also get beef and chicken, they also serve a couple of Pasta Dishes.

Interesting, but over hyped/prived experience. Pomp above all. Most dishes average to disappointing. Better options in town for much less than half the price. Try Hochol and you will be very pleased for less than half.

The food really isn’t that good, actually. Some of it too far on the experimental side and doesn’t make sense and really not worth the price, I’m a bit surprised it made a top 50 list. The thing that really baffled me is the wine menu. Like, unhinged and outrageous prices for what is pretty bad wine.

This was a mixed bag. After having recently been awarded a place on the 50 Best List we had high hopes. The advertised 10 course menu (this includes Amouse bouche, no Amouse-Gueule) features a variety of local dishes which for the chef encapsulates the Yucatán pensiula. Unfortunately for us we felt that some dishes (especially at the start of the menu) were very bland/ under-seasoned. For example the tomato dish had no depth and did not celebrate the food item. On the other hand the squid carpaccio with sauce left nothing of the squid itself as it was far too overpowering. We also opted for the wine paring. Here we received 5 mexican wines with barely any information about the vineyard out the vine iteself. There was also no explanation on why it was paired with a certain dish. Some dishes had no wine paired with them at all, while some did. What is a nice touch is that you can at all times approach the kitchen and talk to the staff. Overall in our opinion this evening was not worth what was summed up on the total bill. A real shame for us as we had high hopes.

This is a review of the taco bar (La Barra de Huniik), that is adjacent to Huniik. This place is incredible, and a must try if you are in Merida. The concept is inspired by Japanese omakase, and celebrates corn and Yucatecan ingredients. You can either pick which tacos you want, or let the chef decide. I originally was going to get 4 tacos, but the food was so good I changed to 6. I had the fish taco, tomato huarache, beef taco, venison panucho, duck sope, and honey masa. The staff are so kind, creative and talented. Make a reservation and go here!!

Huniik was an amazing experience from the delicious food, attentive service, and all around unique atmosphere. From Mauricio the GM who made sure everything was perfect to all of the chefs that came over to explain the food, we left our meal completely satiated in belly and mind. They even accommodated for some dietary restrictions I had but brought my husband a taste of a course he missed due to my restriction! That simple additional touch shows how much they care about their patrons and wanting you to experience the food. Thank you for a wonderful last night in Merida! A must visit for all!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life, and very good value as well (~$19 for main dish and drink after tip). I ordered the octopus poc chuc, which was fresh and perfectly grilled with lots of accompaniments that lightened the dish, and tamarind juice, which came in a ~liter bottle. As for service, Daniel explained the dishes very well and made me feel very welcome. The only improvement that would make this great restaurant even better is if they had air conditioning, as the 38 C heat in May can get rather punishing even in the shade.

This was our first time… and let me just say it didn’t disappoint. We only came here for the ceviche and we were shook of how OUTSTANDING it was. We ordered the shrimp and fish ceviche, medium size and it was plenty of food for 2. The service is great, you get the beach vibe and they even give you a sample of shrimp soup. We paid a total of $15. USD including tip and a drink. A MUST TRY IN MERIDA!!!

It's a little hot because they don't have AC, but everything else is great! Prices are on the cheap side. Flavor is great. My favorite dish here is the fried octopus (Pulpo frito).

Great regional seafood fare. 0ne o'clock lunch time was not crowded. Bright, cheerful atmosphere, uncrowded tables. Fried shrimp platter came in large or medium sized shrimp that was served with lettuce, tomato, tortillas, mayo etc. Excellent portion of guacamole and chips. Service was very efficient with typical Yucatecan friendliness.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The tacos were delicious and we tried 4 different ones - the cochinita pibil, chicken with green chorizo, tinga de res, and pork in tomato sauce. We liked them all and the provided salsas. Israel, the waiter, was so kind and nice to speak with. He showed us a few plants in the garden.

We absolutely loved these tacos! We tried 6 and a torta and they were all delicious. My favourite was the Carne con Chorizo and the Carne Adobada

We went just before they closed, not great timing on our end. Super friendly service. The tacos were so good we ordered more, we got to 15 and would have ordered more, but we ate them out of tortillas!

Without hesitation, some of the best food I've had in the peninsula. And that's stiff competition. The service was incredible, it was a pleasant atmosphere, but the breakfast tacos moved me to tears. Wonderful job, truly. Well worth the hype.

It was 40 degrees so we only got 1 taco each but it was delicious. Highly recommend as a pit stop. The staff were fantastic as well, helped us with other recommendations in Merida.

My husband and I ate here at a whim. What a wonderful surprise! We absolutely loved everything about it. The staff was amazingly friendly and patient with our poor Spanish speaking. We tried four appetizers and every one of them left us wanting more, not because of the quantity, but because of the quality. We plan to visit them tomorrow for their breakfast! We highly suggest this place.

This place has been on my list for years, and I'm not sure why it took us so long to visit, but I'm glad we finally did! We walked from our house, arriving around 8:30 am, and the restaurant was about half full. We got a table right under a nice fan, which was perfect. The service was prompt—we were seated and given menus right away. We both ordered cold brew coffees, and for our meals, my wife chose the huevos rancheros while I went with a pork sandwich. Both dishes were excellent, but I have to say, my sandwich was out of this world! It bacon, ham, and an egg stuffed between sourdough bread with baked cheese on top. Probably a million calories, so I’m glad I was able to walk part of it off on the 40 minute walk home. The portions were generous (my wife couldn’t even finish hers), and nicely presented. The cold brew coffee was also excellent, and the service was professional and friendly, with English spoken if necessary. Considering the quality of the food, the prices were quite reasonable, totaling $490 before tip. Credit cards are accepted. Rating: 5/5 stars

This is the best brunch place in town! It's high end food and service for a good price. A wonderful value. Their chilaquiles were beautiful and their take on papadzules was genius. We have to come back for their large pastries, which all look divine. This is definitely our go to brunch place. Five+ stars!

Some of the best food we've had in México, really well seasoned. We ordered the cochinita pibil (250g with plenty of tortillas) and 3 salbutes de lechón (we didn't realize it was double pork and similar flavors but we loved them both). Enough for 2 grown-ups and 2 small kids for our big meal of the day. The juice of maracuya, pineapple and orange was delicious! And also Julio was really friendly and welcoming, thanks for your service!

What a wonderful experience! Great place to try a bunch of local specialties from the Yucatán peninsula, including delicious items like panuchos, salbutes, and Claudia! Such friendly staff, too (especially Carolina, who took care of me tonight)! Open late, too, which is nice. Great food at a great price—a great way to wind up my too-short stay in Merida!

What a great place! Order Salbutes Lechon and you will not be disappointed. Service is very friendly too! Make sure you go to Loncheria Rani as there are several restaurants next to it.

The food was incredible! Many typical Mayan dishes are prepared here. My wife and I had panuchos and they were great! We will definitely be returning. It's near Paseo Montejo around Parque Santa Ana. Our server Claudia was so nice and quick to answer our questions.
