Just got round to posting this but I guess it is still valid. We were there around two months ago with a group of 3 others and while the place seemed nice I got sick a couple of hours after eating an early lunch (we all had a different breakfast but same lunch). Went to the doctor-food poisoning, Two others from the group who also had the beef pie experienced the same symptoms. Beware.

Amazing fresh food and drinks, full of flavor and reasonably priced (around 16 EUR). Not sure where the British twist comes into play...It's more is a neocantine than anything traditionally British...Maybe that's for the better ;-)

Can’t really say anything negative about this magical little spot. If you would like to order coffee/tea and have it served on a little silver platter, with a glass of water and a little choc too, this is the place. Everything is beautifully set, decorated, made. There’s food too! Pure joy coming to a cafe like this. I’m in love and am definitely coming back.

It is very frustrating to come here for a quick breakfast and see a note at the door "from 8 to 17 takeaway only". It is really 5 minutes to put this info to Google Maps. So as I see it, Maison Renardy disrespect its customers.

Another institution in Ixelles. Great for top quality coffee beans. They also make the best hot chocolate I have ever had. A true pity that the indoor cafe portion of the business is now closed and converted into take away only for coffee, chocolates and pastries.

Fantastic little place with the best hot chocolate in town. They also have high quality bonbons and other beverages like whole leaf tea. The neighborhood is great and the service is quick and polite. You can sit and read as long as you want, they don't bother. I reccommend trying the chocolates between 50-70%. Best!

Update: well, still really nice place to go but be aware if you go there on Sundays when its full, anything you order can be forgotten or a glass of wine can come 20 min later. A nice place to have brunch. Especially on their big terrace on sunny days. Even on Sundays where a lot of people come here to brunch you can easily have a table if you’re just with 2, but do make a reservation if you’re with a big group or on windy days because since it’s located in the center of a park you really feel the wind which makes sitting at the terrace a cold experience if you aren’t properly clothed. They have a weekday and weekend menu so do check it out in advance. It’s okay price & quality wise. The proportions seem small but they fill well and the food has flavor. Their mimosa is lackluster so for the mimosa lovers out there, take something else. Their staff lacks warmth in their service. Only the LGBTQIA+ waiter had a warm, welcoming and genuine service. The rest weren’t really approachable. It’s also one of these places where waiters are split to specific tasks and those tasks only, so not all of them are equipped to take your order. Thank goodness that even on a busy brunch Sunday the wait time isn’t long for food and drinks. Overall? It’s a place worth going for lunch, brunch or a chill date

The location is just perfect. A very appeasing setting by the park. Laid back atmosphere, earthy tones with the deep green clay like walls decor. La fabrique attracts you with its natural style textured decor but it will fail to make you want to come back with its food. The food looks great but taste from bland to bad. As simple as that. You will sit and look at the waiter deliver food to the surrounding tables, drooling over the colors in the plate. Eggs royal, crispy chicken, pain perdu, it looks soooo good. This is why the let down is powerful. How can such pretty plates have such absent, bland, indistinguishable flavors is beyond me. The avocado looks nice and limey green but the taste is unknown, the bun looks golden and glossy but the taste is absent, the chicken bun looks unlike chicken and I still haven't figured out what it tastes like... There are no flavors to this food although it looks great and that is the disappointment. The interior decorator of this place was skilled. The waiters and staff are laid back and that is cool for me. I don't like places where the waiters hover too much. The cook...man...no offense. This food is too pretty to taste this bad. The whole time I ate my food trying to find the positive aspects of it, beyond the look of it. I had to eat it because I paid for it too and it was edible, just not pleasurable in any aspect... It's not even that it's not fresh, to me the cook is absolutely unskilled in the flavor and textures department. In the end, this place sells you an Instagrammable setting but it's not giving "restaurant where they care about the actual taste of the food" I will still go back for a coffee or a drink. I will never feel the need to eat there again... The 2 stars for the food is for the effort of making it look good.

Nice atmosphere and all but please take service more seriously otherwise people can also buy a carrefour coffee and sit on benches. This is not an important story but an indicator of what is wrong with your service: A waitress came by to ask what I want, I asked for the menu, she seriously forgot to bring a menu (the bar 5 meters away from my table) while the cafe was mostly empty. She even walked behind me with 10 menus in her hand. I went and gave my order myself for the overpriced products. In this case I would prefer to have self-service and 1 euro cheaper prices.

Recently, I witnessed inappropriate behavior by a young waiter at your establishment. He was a dark-haired young man — the one on the left in the photo — and this can be verified via your security cameras. I have known this park and your restaurant for a long time, and you have always had staff who love and care for pets. However, I was deeply upset when I saw one of the waiters carrying a dark-colored bulldog named Edgar by the scruff of the neck, and when he put him down, he began squeezing and scolding the dog. I don’t know what was wrong with this waiter, but this clearly violates basic moral standards for the treatment of animals. I urge the restaurant’s owners to take this matter seriously.

At first I guess since there were lots of people, the staff may have been overwhelmed which can be understandable...they we sat inside but they have a nice terrace in the back! They got one of our drinks wrong, and looked annoyed when we asked for another one (if we were in the wrong we would pay for the other drink, but we just weren't), and five minutes later we got the pancakes, very rich in taste, the fruits and syrup too! Even though the service wasn't too good but not bad enough for us to be disappointed the drinks and food were great!

The terrace of this cafe is really a treasure. A mini paradise in the middle of Bailli! The service is efficient and fast, the food is tasty and very well presented. I really suggest you to go and try the atmosphere outside in a sunny day! ☀️

Great place to enjoy your coffee and grab something to eat. Everything we had was tasty and well cooked, portion sizes were okay. The staff were friendly and happy to help, they brought us a high chair for our baby. It was smelling sugar and cinnamon which we all loved it, great vibes and cozy place! Totally recommended

Updated review 1: If there was a genuine safety risk, it’s surprising that the staff member chose to shout from a distance instead of calmly offering help or guidance to avoid me falling on the floor. Cafés in Belgium have a legal duty of care to warn customers about potential hazards such as wet floors, which should be clearly indicated through visible signs or notices. If the terrace was closed for safety reasons, a simple sign at the entrance or on the menu would have avoided this entire situation. The lack of apology in your reaction speaks for itself. Initial review: Cup 28 advertises its terrace as a key feature, with photos and tables clearly set up outside. After ordering my coffee at the bar and taking it outside (self-service), a staff member rushed over to say the terrace was closed — though there was no sign or indication. I was told to sit only on the smoker bench (also outside). When I mentioned I specifically came for the terrace, the answer was simply “No, it’s closed, otherwise other customers will also go sit on the terrace.” The café looks cute, but being made to feel unwelcome for sitting where it’s visibly open is not customer-friendly. Especially when it’s only a drink that I’ve ordered and carried myself to the terrace. A simple sign on the terrace door and menu could avoid this situation.

Very cozy and warm place. Since an old couple is managing this tearoom, you could feel really warm as grandparents do. The cake is super nice, going well with all the tea. In Saturday, usually there are somewhat long queue.

My experience was not that positive. First impression was good, felt cosy and planned to purchase presents from this shop after having a coffee and pastry. The coffee was ok and the pastry too sweet for my taste but I got really disappointed when in the middle of our talk an elder lady interrupted us in the middle of the sentence asking us whether we finished or not because there are new customers waiting. Never experienced such rudeness. And the charm of the initial impression quickly disappeared. Of course I did not buy the planned presents there. And I do not plan to return either.

Very friendly owners Little narrow tea house with great choice of Mariage frères tea. Get the 13 eur (I think) cake plate. You'll be served with a choice of different cakes available at that moment. But go there for the lovely owners.

We had coffes and hot chocolate. Cosy atmosphere; very very relaxed (shabby chick); seemingly second hand or third/fourth hand furniture; which guves an impression of relaxation also because of earthly but lighter colour tones; some dried flower arrangements on the bar; super great muscavado sugar; good tasty coffee and good hot chocolate; creamy milk. Super friendly waiters!

Coffee and pastries were average, the cinnamon bun was a bit dry. The garden could be very cozy but the seating areas are not comfortable and it looks more like a construction materials/garbage dump.

Good coffee, homemade treats and a cosy ambience is what you get at Fika! I’ve previously tried their cinnamon buns but this time grabbed a slice of their almond-poppy seed-dark chocolate cake (gluten free) and absolutely devoured every bite. The cafe has a charming terrace with little benches strewn around.

"Fika" is the Swedish word for the concept of taking a break while drinking coffee accompanied with a sweet treat and/ or a good chat. I think it is the perfect name for this café. It is a little hidden gem, the kind of coffee place I would like to see more in Brussels. . They focus on good, fresh coffee and homemade (delicious) baked goods. You go there to enjoy your cup and a snack in a calming and lovely atmosphere. Especially if the weather is nice, you can sit in the backyard as if you were in your own garden.

One of the good coffee shops in Brussels. We have been here twice now. The coffee is amazing. The price is very reasonable. The only disadvantage I find of this place is the seating area. There is not a lot of seating area. But besides that it is an amazing coffee house. We also tried the cashew cake which was also very delicious.

We loved our stay at Hotel Amigo—just steps from the stunning Grand Place! The location couldn’t be better, and the blend of historic charm and modern comfort made it the perfect home base for exploring Brussels. We’d absolutely stay here again. The Rocco Forte flag is a hidden gem for Americans unaware of it.

By far the finest hotel in Brussels. Rooms are meticulously maintained with exceptional lighting, linens and outstanding water pressure. The breakfast buffet is exquisite and selections for every taste. All of the staff went out of their way to accommodate my requests and were genuinely authentic and kind.

We stumbled onto the place whilst looking for a good bar. It was our penultimate evening and glad we ended up there. The jazz band was wonderful and mostly thanks to Arthur who looked after us recommending bizarre but amazing cocktails! Merci & cheers!

The Perfect Location:::: Hotel Amigo! Our room was relaxing with the 5 star level of luxury. Except for the view... there was none. It was an alley & brick walls. 😔 But... we did not spend time wallowing as we were exploring all the sites within walking distance including the Grand Place, The Best Waffels at the Wafflein, Chocolate shops & cooking classes, Museums including the Margrite Museum. There is so much to do so plan ahead! And always stop into the Margrite Bar upon your return. Specialty drinks 🍸 to delight.

We would give Hotel Amigo another star if we could. The finest Hotel we have ever stayed at. Unlike most five star hotels Amigo employees go above and beyond servicing your needs. Every employee greets you from start to ending . They are very well managed . I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Brussels.

Coffee and tea always only the highest quality, wonderful tea sets to buy in place and delightful tea biscuits and snacks. Been going here for 6 years and I never buy my tea anywhere else, absolutely love this place.

No longer a tea room. Apparently they can’t manage to change the info on their site. But the place is beautiful, old-world style and the personnel professional in her attitude. There is no tea tasting but the selection is wide and the service helpful. A calm and kind attitude prevails.

Comptoir Florian is by far the best tea shop in Bruxelles! I wish they would deliver tea abroad, as I would be their number one customer! I can't wait for my next time, to refill my stock! The atmosphere inside is also very cosy, and everything there, from serving to giving advices, is made with passion!

Very happy to have tried this place. They have an amazing tea selection and the prices are quite ok. The tea pots are big enough to entertain you for an hour of intensive tea drinking. The staff is very nice and caring. They have two roomz, one with only two tables whuch makes it cozier. They accept cash and bancontact only. But totally recommended as a tea experience.

Inside the Galerie de San Hubert in the centre of Brussels. We went there three evenings running because we liked it so much. Relaxing atmosphere - just watching the world go by. Very busy all day, but quietens down around 8pm. Loads of different beer choices and really tasty food.

Stopped by Mokafé Taverne for some beers and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and a great vibe overall. Big plus that it’s non-smoking inside—thankfully makes the experience much more pleasant.

Inside galerie du saint hubert. We sat outside enjoying Belgium Waffle, steak. Sipping Belgium Beer Cuvée Trolls. Very relaxing. The steak was great. I really like it.

Our hotel provides the breakfast voucher to us. The restaurant is located in a prime location, Galeries Royales Saint Hubert. This is a beautiful galeries. The coffee is good. The breakfast has a large portion that can last to dinner and it is tasty. The service is excellent.

I was eager to try their petit déjeuner though it left me with rather mixed feelings - the hot chocolate was great, real Belgian quality, so that alone made it worth it. The apple juice I got was also obviously natural, as well as the strawberry jam, accompanying the pastries. However, neither the butter croissant nor the baguette were impressive. Honestly, especially the croissant tasted like bought from a supermarket, and I really hope it's not the case. The price I paid was 13.95€ for a cup of hot chocolate, glass of organic apple 🍎 juice, 2 slices of bread and 2 baguette pieces, as well as a butter 🧈 croissant and butter and jam on the side. The service was friendly, but since the waiters didn't have their names embroidered on the uniforms, I had no clue who they were. The atmosphere is simple but nice. Overall 3/5 with some potential for more. P.S. they offer some of the eat-in dishes for takeaway as well, for a couple euros less.

First time there. A server came and seated my children while I spoke to him and queued up at the till to order. He didn't mention I could order from the table. Waited 5m in the queue (not easy with 2 small children already seated) and ordered to eat there. Server announced that ill have to pay a different price to eat there I was like, okay. Then he kept arguing with me to put the juice in my hand back in the fridge and go and sit and wait for another server to order and they will then bring the same juice to my child but later.

I was there yesterday. I ordered a matcha latte and a pastry, the matcha was fine but the pastry was really dry and it seemed old (I ordered it because the waiter said it was good and I was expecting something freshly baked). When I went to pay, I paid €8.5 only for that pastry… I should’ve definitely asked for a new one🥲 I probably won’t come back

Warm (not hot) cappuccino; No one in dining area and waitress seated me next to wait staff work area -- I had to pick up and move myself to seat by window. When I was ready to have my order taken I closed my menu and waited. And waited. The waitress was more interested in gossiping with other wait staff than attending to me. Finally another member of the crew nudged her over. Food was brought out quickly. Croissant tasted stale like it had been sitting out all morning (which it clearly had been since there was an open display of pastries). Usually cappuccinos are served scalding hot (perfect serving temp for a cappuccino is minimum above 60 C). This cappuccino was warm--almost hot. Bof. Will reconsider coming to this overpriced eatery again.

Food is fine but nothing special. The large soup (which is really just a standard bowl of soup for €8.50) arrived a bit cold. In general the place is overpriced. Staff are always quite inattentive and service is slow.

**This review was written 2 years ago but apparently only got released now? The situation might be different now. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for a nice coffee in the morning. The quality of the coffee was really not up to par. I also bought a pastry and that one was quite good. I cannot judge their other breakfast or brunch options, but I am just making it clear that this is not a place for coffee-lovers. Note: Don't bother giving your reusable coffee container as apparently they don't know how to serve in it and they still wasted a paper cup and let me transfer it myself.

I am usually biased towards giving a positive review but this one doesn't deserve a good one at all. To put it in bulletins : - The Chai latte (tea with almond milk) arrived in lukewarm (ambiant temperature), and this is under the hot drink menu, strange really, I wasn't sure what to say. - I ordered the scrambled eggs toast, wasn't fresh as well and it took 45 minutes. But the surprise is that they gave me the plate with a small portion, and the table next to me ordered the same one and theirs was double than mine. 😂 I asked the waiter if there is something wrong, he went in and came back telling us sorry this is a small portion because we are out of toast, and he didn't bother suggesting anything to make amends. I mean dude, either tell me right away so I order something else or offer an alternative. But no, they prefered to let me starve and give me a small plate and with full price. I truly felt the current management doesn't have hospitality experience, or a kid was running the restaurant. I paid 20Euro only to continue my lunch somewhere else. I was laughing about this situation when it happened but now I realize how bad the management is.

Got off to a bad start as the table has a "number" in the middle of it. I couldn't make it out, by touch or by sight. You need to give the number when you place your order. It's a small metal disk in black . Old eyes . Anywho, ordered the wrong coffee, but loved what I got an espresso. Good food, I had the vegan banana bread which is augmented with seeds , lovely and crumbling. Very friendly staff, young and efficient. Lovely atmosphere, Saturday afternoon, families , dog owners, has a hip look and a certain je ne sais quio. Based in a wonderful community square, which has a book exchange opposite the café and a secure bike storage unit. Building work nearby. A good ebb and flow of folk. Thanks 😊. Exceptional coffee. They know their beans and how to treat them. Lunch (kische) was great too, nice music and ambience. I really enjoyed my visit and would return.

Coffee was perfection. The proportion and the taste of the espresso comes through. The brown bread for the avocado toast was sooo yummy. And the vegan pancakes were SOO fluffy and delicious. Not overly sweet. Wow impressed

We wanted to buy some chocolate to take home and we ended up having the best hot chocolate ever!! The icecream was really nice too (2 big scoops and chocolate inside the corn) and and with every order we were able to taste different chocolate eggs. The staff was friendly and told us about the company. Would definitely come again!

Great place to have a hot chocolate and watch some chocolates being made. This place is away from the tourist area which is great. We got in and ordered a classic hot chocolate. Thick and came with two little chocolates also. You can watch through the glass window the team making chocolates which is interesting. They have a wide selection of chocolates to choose from also.

The staff was friendly, but the tapas were overpriced for the quality of ingredients and the quantity of food you are getting. The burger was good. The wine was also over-priced for the quality you are getting. The decor/facility is outdated and could use a re-touch.

Second time here and first time experiencing a full meal. We salute the cook and his plates! A nice interpretation of mostly Spanish (and to a lesser extent Italian) traditional cuisine. List of dishes on the menu is long, including most classics. Temporary suggestions and beers of the month are a nice addition. Place is small and new with a warm style, lovely garden on the backside and tables by the street at the entrance. Staff is nice, although busy. Not for vampires (people intolerant to garlic).

Quite enjoyed our first visit here. Very welcoming staff and friendly service indeed. For me, the place is a mix of homy and rustic feels with the ambient light quite fitting to my taste. The food was great, at least the ones that we took from the choices on their menu which maybe not that varied. The wine that we chose might not be the best one but it was not a big deal coz it was compensated by the excellent service of the staff during that night. Would try the other dishes again in the near future.

Excellent food, fast friendly service. We had our first meal in Belgium here and it was wonderful. Salmon sashimi and ginger honey wings for appetizers, salmon crepes for main meal, wonderful teas and coffee. I highly recommend this place!

The tapas are tasty but small and kind of expensive. There are a lot of vegetarian options. I also found the desserts expensive for what they were. A friend ordered a pastel de nata with ice cream which besides costing almost 9€ was cold inside while warm outside.

The restaurant is actually bigger than one could expect by looking from outside (but still not big). I found the environment quite nice with people from different countries trying different tapas. In my case, I tried a burger and I have to say that, despite the fact that it was very high, it was very well cooked and pretty tasty and soft. For me, it has been a good discovery. I will go back to try some tapas (as they were quite good looking).

Service in Belgium is overall bad, unless you go and pay a premium price at an expat top choice location. This restaurant knows no limits in BAD SERVICE. - We asked small plates to share the starters. That request was not fulfilled. - My daughter could not finish her meat, we asked to take it away. They wrapped it in a piece of paper and brought it as if we are leaving a butcher. - They say you should tell if it is your birthday. We did so, they brought 1/2 portion of a cake from the day before many days and a huge flame with an ugly music and threw on the table and left. Please don’t offer this rotten cake ceremony 🙏. Just avoid.

I have known thos restaurant since I was little. It is really an institution in Hoeilaart. The red meat dishes are superb, as are the eels in green herbs sauce, for which the restaurant is justly praised

This breakfast and brunch places was the right recommendation for our start into the day. When the guests calm down it is a nice, calm atmosphere. The food and drinks were perfect and quite a big size! It might take a bit - especially the drinks - after ordering it since it gets quite busy. However, it was more than worth to wait. Addition: it is possible to order via the app or at the counter.

I recently visited HINTERLAND, a coffee shop that serves a wide variety of delicious coffee drinks and delectable food options. From sweet to savory, their menu offers something for everyone. One of the highlights of my visit was their amazing scrambled eggs. 🍳 The ambiance of the place added to the overall experience. With its cozy atmosphere, it's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal. The staff is indeed known for being friendly and accommodating. They create a welcoming atmosphere and are always ready to assist you with any requests or questions you may have.

Nice place to have brunch, good options but I must say not a long list to choose from still good variety. Food was very well prepared, fresh & tasty. Portions are good so dont worry about looking for food after eating here or you can share a portion among friends as well. We really enjoyed the coffee, smooth & creamy definitely recommend it.

Hinterland is a great place for brunch. I tried the delicious Strawberry French Toast. The brioche was almost perfect, although a bit soggy, which was unfortunate as everything else about it was perfect. The egg was nicely melted inside, and you could not taste it even though it was visible at the bottom side of the toast, which is unusual. Anyway, overall it was a great experience. Macha latte with coconut was also tasty. Service on a busy “Sunday without cars” was excellent too. Loved the place.

A lot of Vegan options which is very friendly to lactose intolerance people. Loved their matcha latte with coconut milk. The vegab pancakes are really good but a little to sweet to my personal taste. Payment can be done completely online.

We had breakfast, using a Bongo voucher. The staff treated us like royals, the breakfast was an event! I had a bagel ‘Le Chatelain’ with meatloaf, very tasty!

Bad food, not cheap, the guy is absolutely annoying and you cannot pay by card. The worst of all, he had a table with a couple of guys smoking, at the time they left, he grabbed the ashtray, threw the cigarettes on the street and left the ashtray back on the table. Never going there again!

Homemade limonade with lemon, mint and green tea sirup, so simple but ended up so wrong. Without any mint, only two little slices of lemon, sweet like a candy, no ice on a very hot day and the glass was miniature. And on top of that: a useless plastic straw.

Exactly disappointed with the food. There are only two meat options on the menu, one of them is raw meat labeled as American red meat. It's not clear from the menu that it is raw meat. The staff is bad in English, which is very wired for this kind of international hotel. Afterwards I changed to a simple burger, and after more than 30 mins the food is still not on the table. I assume they just don't want to serve you and make you wait. At the end I left the place In total. it was very uncomfortable from this location with a relatively high price. You can just sense the service staff really hate you, the negativity is high. Don't go there to waste your time, you will not have an appetite to eat

A bar with a fitting name, as it is top shelf all the way. Vast selection of whiskeys from around the world with more bottles of LouisXIII the your hearts desire... but bring your platinum card with you. You will need it.😆 A nice menu is a step up above normal bar food but still a relaxed place to take a load off and enjoy good company. Unimpressed and very strange service. I ordered the filet and somehow the waiter kept asking me beef? I even said it in French but he was incomprehensible. I ordered the beer side sauce but it never arrived. The steak that was served was definitely NOT a filet and looked more like stew meat to me. I did eat it all because I was hungry. But it was tough as hell (see picture). My daughter’s spaghetti bolognese was not very good, especially for the price.

What a great cafe - they roast themselves, the Barrista was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and took time to explain their roasts despite a full cafe. Excellent coffee and will be back to try their beans.

5,10€ for a capuccino you dont even get a cookie, thats criminal. We ordered something to eat, there was a like a roasted? HUGE MOTH IN THE SALAD. The girl working there didnt even looked at us when we tried to call her to tell her, so we had to go to the counter to tell the owner what was going on. They didnt even offer us our money back, not even a coffee or a cookie for the DISGUSTING experience. Never going back.

This has become our regular morning coffee stop when staying in Ixelles. The friendly and welcoming service is the hallmark of Natural caffe. The barista and waitrons make you feel as though you are a regular, even if you're visiting for the first time! This will always be my coffee stop whenever I'm in Brussels. An absolute gem. The coffee is great. It has a slightly fruity and acidic taste. The service is fast and always friendly. They have a wide variety of croissants, pastries and cakes. The ones I managed to taste so far were all fresh and delicious. They have a few special menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner that I'm keen to try on my next visits. The carrot cake looks absolutely divine! There is seating for about 30 people inside. My favourite spot is at the window where you can watch people commuting to work. There are a few spots outside, and in summer I can imagine this is a nice place to enjoy your coffee.

The coffee smells were enticing but we went for iced matcha. I was disappointed. Quality matcha is never this sort of dark green. Seemed like remedial matcha and a truly tiny serving of mango puree. I definitely expected better for almost €7. I probably won’t return.

This was our last meal in Belgium, and the overall experience was absolutely perfect! Choosing this place before leaving Brussels was definitely the right decision. The barista was incredibly professional, the staff and food were excellent, and the environment was quiet, warm, and clean. My friend and I were very happy—we’ll definitely come back next time!

My flat white was prepared using the guest espresso, which the barista said was fruity with a high amount of acidity. It was a good cup but it wasn’t as fruity as I hoped for. On a side note, I thought the place is long overdue for a fresh paint and a deep clean.

My favorite coffee shop in Brussels. I went there a few times. The cortado was super, they know how to make it, and it is difficult to find it in France. I felt really comfortable and I was able to concentrate and write down my stuff. Really a great place! And croissants were delicious. Thanks!

Cinnamon bun was great and I love that it’s not crazy sweet or rich. The spice in the Chai latte could be stronger. Flat white was normal. Was a little noisy inside during one of my visits.

Wonderful chocolate store with incredible staff. We got there 15min before closing and they already cleaned all their utensils but they still took our order and made us hot chocolate, which is incredible!

Stepping into Laurent Gerbaud in Brussels, I definitely had high hopes given the city's reputation for amazing chocolate. They've got a great selection of chocolate drinks, ice cream, and those little chocolate cubes. I tried a few of their chocolate cubes, and they were pretty decent. However, I have to say, it was tough to tell the different flavors apart – they all kind of blended together for me, which was a bit of a shame since I was expecting distinct tastes. I also went for the iced dark chocolate, and it was just okay. While the flavor was there, it felt a bit on the watery side, which made it feel less rich and decadent than I was hoping for, especially for a dark chocolate drink. It just didn't have that super thick, luxurious feel you often expect from a really good chocolate place. Overall, it was an interesting visit, but maybe not quite what I envisioned for a top-tier chocolate experience in Brussels. It's a nice spot, but I think there's room for improvement, especially with the texture of their drinks and the distinctiveness of their chocolate cube flavors.

What a fantastic variety of chocolates! It was so exciting to try unique flavors like black olive chocolate - surprisingly delicious! The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming! Definitely recommended.

We really enjoyed the chocolate workshop. The instructor was very knowledgeable and made the experience of chocolate tasting very fun and interesting. Also, the chocolate was exquisite!

Helpful and friendly staff. The drinks were great and the chocolate is good too. There's just so much to choose from that we were glad the staff was so knowledgeable and could guide us.

We came here to warm up on a coldish spring evening. My husband loved their hot chocolate so much, he ordered a second one. He was not as amazed with their pralines. I ordered Americano and it was pleasant - not overburned, aromatic. Beware their Irish Coffee - they use canned appriximation of whipped cream with it, which is a totally unhealthy product that nobody should consume.

This place had the best chocolate that we tried in Brussels. Admittedly, it's also not the cheapest place around, but the quality is well worth the price. We ended up taking 250g of it home, and coming back multiple times, just based on how good the chocolate was. The service/atmosphere of the Cafe inside are great as well. Even as non-french speakers, we were able to order easily and staff were friendly. It's a bit of a walk from Grand Place area, but one I would definitely do again.

Friendly service. I really liked the hot chocolate. I wasn't a big fan of the homemade ice tea, but maybe that's on me because I have been trying many homemade ice teas at places all over and I've actually never liked any; I should order something else 😅 The food was great! I really liked the grilled cheese, the potatoes and bacon, and the fregola. The pancakes could have used something extra as I found them a bit lackluster. The price is reasonable. You get a small flag with your name on it, which I thought was funny. I'll definitely be coming back. We had to sit outside, so the recommendation of other people to make a reservation during the weekend should be taken seriously.

Great little cafe by the canal. Shame it sits by a busy road junction but many idiots drive here, so it's quite fun for idiot-driver-watching. Good beer and coffee. Food looks great too but I haven't tried it (yet!).

The atmosphere of the breakfast pub itself is very pleasant. We were disappointed with the service after about 15 minutes of waiting to place an order no one came to us, we also had to get the menu ourselves. You write down the names for your order on cards, this was also mixed up. The service is very chaotic. The food looks delicious but we only liked the toast and the egg. There are a lot of things to improve in this place.

Chose this place for my lunch, seeing good reviews. I was very disappointed, the only thing I could choose here for lunch was soup. As a drink I took iced matcha. It was brought fast and the matcha was nice, so nothing bad here. However soup was very watery with big clumps of something, I guess it was supposed to be cream soup but was not mixed properly. Was served with bread, so the only thing makes you less hungry was bread but come on. You don't come to a cafe for lunch to eat just bread. Adding photos. Spent 13,5€, left hungry and dissapointed. Had to go for another lunch. P.S. changed it to 1 star. As from my bank account they took 13.5€, but on the check they gave me it is 12.5€. Feels like a scam.

A group of 40 of us (although there was space for more) hired out all three floors of the venue for the whole day. Mona and the team at Le Phare couldn't have been better or more helpful - especially working to ensure we were within budget. We also loved their sustainable ethos, which really fitted in well with what we were trying to achieve. The day of workshops and presentations was a huge success, concluding with drinks of the terrace. Highly recommended!

We ducked into Belga & Co on a grim, rainy Brussels Saturday. Rue du Bailli gave us shelter. Belga & Co gave us… a good-looking mirage. Yes, the interiors are stunning, moody chocolate walls, gold ceiling, feature lighting, and a giant mask watching your plant based milk choices. But that’s where the magic ends. Sticky floors, stained menus, loud music, and zero sound absorption make for a chaotic experience. The seating? Cramped and borderline dangerous. I was perched on a stair-edge seat like a contestant in some caffeine-themed version of saw. The matcha was essentially green-tinted milk with commitment issues. The lemonade looked great but didn’t land. As for the coffee, it talks a big game, but tasted like something you’d grab at the airport while questioning your life choices. They claim no laptops on weekends, but enforcement was nonexistent. Belga & Co has the aesthetic, but not the follow-through. Would I return? Only for the lighting and a quiet identity crisis.

We stopped by on a sunny day and really enjoyed the terrace—it’s a lovely spot to sit and relax. They had two options for batch brew, a single origin and a blend. I went for the Ethiopian, and it was a good, solid cup of coffee—nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable. My wife tried the lemon and turmeric cake, which was okay but not particularly memorable. Overall, a nice coffee stop with a great terrace and good specialty coffee.

It used to be a nice coffee place in the past. Now it looks like abandoned. Variety and quality of products dropped. Service sucks (they do not even bother cleaning the tables after a client leaving), dirty toilets. Pity cause the place used to have a nice vibe and for sure there's plenty of potential.

Belga is a hidden gem of a cafe. It’s easy to miss, only a small sign in the window. I discovered it by accident. Excellent coffee, served with a glass of water. A rarity in Brussels. Nice cakes too. Plus a loyalty card for regular customers. It’s listed in the European Coffee Trip app, which is a sign of quality. In summer you can take some rays in the small garden at the back, an oasis of calm in a busy area.

The coffee is amazing, and their banana cake is so fresh and good, and you dream of eating it. You can taske the ownmade one and not industrial one as most of the place. Great staff and the location allow you to work there as the music isn't too loud Oui.

Nice place to eat, especially because of the great cozy square in the back. Some musicians played live music, later young poets read from their works. So, the atmosphere is excellent. However, the food choice is very limited and if you like meat, you might be disappointed. Very creative are the prices: one can choose to pay a low price, a middle price or a higher price (although even the high prices are low).

My gf and I are both from Spain and we're visiting Brussels for the first time, we forgot that dinner time was much earlier than in our country and most places had closed kitchens. We happened to see the sign, and we wanted to try with L'Estaminet. There we met Alex, super nice guy, who spoke Spanish and understood the situation well, and despite the time decided to cook us a tasty meal and seat down to eat with us and make us some company, we tried the soup, the quiche and a sandwich. Felt good and warm, what you would call comfort food, je also decided to make us taste Belgian Beer and Cider based on our preferences. He told us the story of the place, some local recommendations, and showed us around. Such a warming and welcoming place, can't describe with words how can someone make you feel so at home when you are thousands of KM away from yours. Much love to Alex.

This place is absolutely breathtaking. Not just the insides, but maybe especially the garden outside, which is so green and has a small fountain. That said, I don't think this place should be on happycow though. On the website they say they have several vegan options (vegetalienne), but then the sandwiches marked as such contain cheese. I'm tired of misleading marking like that. They have a vegan soup, but none of the sandwiches are vegan. The waitress said they could make the sandwiches vegan by taking away the cheese, but that's not a proper option. Still, a beautiful place to go, and the soup was very tasty. Great selection of beers, although they were not very cold (except the one draft beer they had).

This is a wonderful place to enjoy a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Very nice people and just a beautiful interior. I drank a Golden Milk Latte and a Hot chocolate, was lovely. Would definitely visit again when I'm near here again.

Update June 2024: Service has become slower compared to before. 20 min wait for one flat white is too long with 3 people working. Previous review: This place is a must for all coffee lovers! The espresso is great, plus reasonably priced. They have a variety of coffees. We loved the cold brew coffee. Looking forward to trying some of the other coffees and desserts. The polenta cake is amazing! The back garden is lovely and I love the attention to details: the plants, the floor covering which gives an impression as if you are somewhere in a wood. And the birds 🤗 Many thanks for making sure you have such nice coffee cups! You can rarely find places in Brussels with such nice cups (+very clean). The staff were very friendly and explained to us how they make the cold brew coffee. We are so looking back to drink many many coffees here!

Kami. I‘ll keep my little getaway with you in good memories. The best Granola with Greek yoghurt and fruit I've had in a long time. And the Cappuccino was also totally my taste. I sat in the garden and enjoyed my little breakfast and the quiet atmosphere out there in the sun. The service is friendly with smiles on their faces. Unfortunately they are closed on Saturday. Otherwise I‘d popped in again before my flight home. You‘ve inspired me to make my own Granola again at home. Thank you for that experience. A heartfelt recommendation. ☺️

Specialty coffee shop with interesting coffee notes for you to choose from. Got the Saoko(filter) and Superfreak decaf(cortado). Both was good but I prefer the superfreak decaf.

If you are a coffee lover it can be challenging to find a good indie coffee shop in Brussels. Just at the edge of the central historic district you will find this gem. Friendly staff, great coffee and I managed to score the last of their delicious sourdough croissants which did not disappoint! Cool hip design. Bar seating, window bar seating and a few tables at the back.

Unusual cookie flavours (I will try the pistachio one next), nice spot with nice staff. The must are the filled ‘choux’, that are not overly sweet which is much appreciated. Quite pricey, but a nice treat from time to time. You can also have a cup of tea or coffee while enjoying your sweets. Their homemade sorbets are very nice as well.

While we were waiting to find a house here in Brussels Caleo Café quickly became our daily spot. The food is really really good and very fresh and the staff is delightful. Quite a bit of options for vegan gluten free, always very accommodating. On the weekends at brunch you may wait a bit for a table but trust me, it’s worth it. Might I recommend their brown butter and sage latte made with homemade simple syrup. We really love Caleo Café and the staff.

This is some of the best food I had on my trip to Brussels. The eggplant schnitzel was fresh, flavorful, and delicious.

I will never forget those pancakes with bacon. So soft, and with that butter taste that I love. Even that the place is small, it’s very beautiful. We were on the table next to the window on a grey Sunday, perfect for a hot coffee and amazing meal. The service impeccable. They were really fast even that the place was full and only 3 of them managing everything.

The café has a really cute vibe, which I enjoyed. The food itself was quite simple and could be improved with a bit more attention to flavor and presentation, for example, the avocado I ordered with my eggs wasn’t seasoned. The service was also a bit inconsistent, as some items were forgotten and the staff was not super nice. With a few small improvements, the overall experience could be much better, since the place has great potential.

A scrumptious and cosy breakfast spot in the outskirts of Brussels. Really friendly and helpful servers. Quick service. Delicious coffee. Absolutely divine freshly baked croissants. They seem to use burnt butter in them which means they are on another level taste-wise. We ordered two different versions of the scrambled eggs on toast and they were delicious. Served on fresh sourdough bread. The eggs were fluffy and light and topped with paprika which added a nice flavour experience. A fantastic spot for brunch or breakfast in Brussels.

A very cozy breakfast spot with perfect morning music, a terrace, and plenty of seating inside. The atmosphere is great with very friendly staff. We had a small granola bowl; not much, but very tasty. Two excellent coffees and a croissant. Definitely recommended for a relaxed breakfast.

I love this place with my whole heart, it is great. Vendors are kind, welcoming and have good advice, the diversity of choice is incredible and it's quite reasonably priced.

My favourite tea place to go to in Brussels. They have an amazing selection of high quality Japanese teas, I keep coming back for Fukamushi Kukicha, every other tea that I tried from here was always amazing too. The staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, definitely recommend this tea shop to everyone!

Edit: I do not know what you mean but I am a different person and I am quite frustrated that your place is open only one day. Plus, your attitude towards your customers here is plain rude and obnoxious. Everybody should know and avoid this arrogant place especially if you are a tourist and have limited time, people should spend their time better than drinking tea with mold (based on reviews) and being constantly scolded by such an establishment.

I received a 40€ voucher for my birthday. The store is not in my neighbourhood so it took me a while to claim it. When I finally made it there, the voucher was expired a month ago - and there was no way to get even a part of the gift. “The system will not allow it.” Why would a tea shop issue cheques with only a six month validity?! The shop looks amazing but the service is not.

I was planning to go and have a look for some nice presents, as friends and family are real tea lovers. But after reading through the usual very positive posts I do not feel anymore that I want to go, because I find it kind of rude how the owner reacts to the posts that express where customers were not happy. We will see how the owner reacts to this post...and maybe he can convince me to still pass by and buy from the shop...

This is my go-to, one-stop destination for tea in Brussels. The shop is tiny and can get very crowded on busy days, but the variety of teas on offer is astounding, the prices very reasonable and the staff knowledgeable and professional.

These people are beyond the pale. If one dares to comment upon the rude behaviour of their vendors, they will always find fault with the client. The possibility that their shop-assistants are really unbearably arrogant doesn't cross their mind. If you really want to get these teas, I'd suggest ordering them on line. Or trying to find a different supplier.

They use so much sugar! It is much more than needed, in my opinion. Seriously, who would like to consume so much sugar in a pastry given the scientific fact that sugar is not healthy to consume. I would humbly suggest them to reconsider the sweetness of their pasteries. New bakeries have already realized that people no longer fancy over-sweet pasteries and now there are many amazing bakeries that provide delicious pasteries. There is no reason for this place to stick to the old standards.

We came here for lunch and they had delicious paninis, we finished with some tasty pastries and coffee. The staff is super friendly. Perfect place if you need something to go or if you got some time to chill.

They should be ashamed to have attitude like that with such a potential cafe place. Not recommended at all.

The place to be for breakfast or for a panini/sandwhich! Best pain au chocolat in town and sandwhiches/paninis are prepared live with the best ingredients. Friendly owner and staff. I can only recommend this place and I will definitely go back!

It was really a nice experience 👍 The food was delicious plus the Nans were really soft and nice, a real close match to what we get in India (unlike other indian restaurants in Brussels). The service was good. The ambiance was on point, music was subtle. The best part was that I have a small baby and did not want to expose her to too much crowd and hence, This restaurant is best if you want to dine-in after 7.45 or 8pm as the crowd is really less after that and you can occupy a lot of space for yourself and baby stroller etc. Must recommend 👍

I chose the lamb saagwala (lamb with spinach, fresh coriander and Indian spices of course) and it was great: spicy, but very balanced flavours, with soft and succulent lamb. The portion was just right; generous but not too much (I would have over-eaten myself, if it had been more, because it was too good…). We ordered two different naan breads (garlic and kheema), both were very good, and the portions were generous. I stole some of my friends’ Rogan Josh… that will be my choice next time. Because I will definitely come back here! I’m glad I live nearby… but I would drive to Zaventem if I lived in the center of Brussels, for a great Indian dinner!
