Po’ boys restaurant
Dempsey's Poboys is a charming eatery that captures the essence of Southern cuisine with its delightful array of seafood and fried dishes. This cozy spot, run by a dedicated husband-and-wife team, is particularly famous for its in-house gumbo, prepared fresh daily. Guests can savor either the rich seafood gumbo or the spicy chicken and andouille version—both are must-tries! The menu also features an assortment of appetizers, salads, burgers, and sandwiches to satisfy any craving.
Cute little place with amazing food that packs a punch. I chose this place for the gumbo and boudin balls and we were not disappointed in anything! it was a little out of the way for us, but totally worth it!
Whitney H — Google review
This place has been on our list to try for sometime. I’ve always heard good things. The gumbo is very good and the catfish was nice portions. I prefer a little darker gravy and gumbo (just personal preference, not a criticism of theirs). The green beans were absolutely amazing!! I think next time I’ll try the catfish poboy, as it seems to be the specialty. I do highly recommend giving this place a try. Definitely a local favorite.
Jeff W — Google review
Great gumbo & po boys! Bread pudding is something else though 💪
Лука Ћ — Google review
We had a group of 10 and they put tables together, got our orders and our food was out in no time! Our server was fantastic! Everyone loved their meals! I heard lots of compliments on the blackened catfish and shrimp basket. My half grilled shrimp poor boy and seafood gumbo was hearty and seasoned perfectly.
C C — Google review
Absolutely incredible, home style food, especially the gumbo and their grilled shrimp Po-Boys.
Caroline S — Google review
The hubs and I came in town from Missouri for his work conference. We’re heading home tomorrow, but had to try some local food before we left out. This place was amazing! Our waitress, Elsis, was the sweetest thing, and the food was fantastic! I’m so glad the portions are huge, cause we definitely have leftovers ♥️
Brandy S — Google review
Everything on the menu is delicious! The waiters and owner greet you when you arrive and thank you when you leave. Every meal is freshly prepared and seasoned to perfection. Portions are big enough for a hungry man and then leftovers for a midnight snack! You won’t be disappointed
Greg K — Google review
The best place to eat. The wait staff is amazing, very helpful, and the food was awesome. We had the Boudin Balls for an appetizer and we had the #1 seller on the menu(and we can see why). My son had the chicken fried steak, and said it was some of the best he has had, and we are from Texas.

Rice and Roux is a casual eatery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, known for serving up classic Cajun dishes like jambalaya and gumbo. The restaurant has received positive reviews for its food, service, and value. Visitors praise the attention to detail put into each batch of gumbo and highly recommend trying the daily specials such as hamburger steak and pot roast. The jambalaya and pastalaya are also highlighted as must-try items on the menu.
Gumbo so good it made me cry! Tasted just like my mom's! I had the jambalaya, crawfish pie and file' Gumbo. Just wow!
Pinkie R — Google review
Absolutely incredible food. I'm from Va and we don't have food like this at home. First time trying gumbo and I'm in love. Great service and the restaurant is very clean. I will be back to get more.
Steven H — Google review
Excellent comfort food and friendly staff. We got gumbo, chicken and sausage jambalaya and crawfish pies. (And a bread pudding!) The food came out fast and 1 sampler plate was plenty of food for 2 people. We spent less than $25 for dinner for 2 including tip!
Jaimie T — Google review
Small family run business, that treat you like family. Best Gumbo and Jambalaya in Louisiana. Delicious daily lunch specials, freshly made sides, salads, desserts. Friendliest staff, always clean relaxing and inviting. I visit every week, for over a decade now. You’ll become a regular, after trying the best Cajun creole in Baton Rouge!!!
Jason C — Google review
It’s always a hit and miss for a good gumbo, but the chicken and sausage here was great! Bread pudding was delicious and husband loved the jambalaya! Also, Our servers were very friendly and understanding to a spilled drink from my daughter. 5 stars from us.
Tammi H — Google review
I normally always have a great experience and the food is delicious but I left a smaller tip this time and when I got my food to go they didn’t take the same care and my gumbo was all over my food. That’s the first time this has happened. I wondered if it was because I left a smaller tip on my to go order.
Penny D — Google review
I guess the corn bread was pretty good. The “seafood gumbo” was all gumbo, no seafood unless you count a couple of baby mushy shrimp. I was shown bowls to see the comparison of sizes of sides, then when I got my food, no bowl. Just a cafeteria plate. Pretty underwhelming for a Cajun place IN Louisiana.
Rick M — Google review
Now granted they were about to close, but that should not matter. We had the shrimp fettuccine. This was the special on Friday. The shrimp tasted freezer burnt and boiled if there is such a thing. The cheese sauce was yellow and had ok flavor. The red beans and rice were sub par the green beans were spicy and eatable. Now the banana pudding was good it was not homemade, but it was good. I don’t know if I came on an off night or if I chose the wrong dish. I had high hopes that this was going to be my new cozy browns. For those who have never been to Prichard/8 mile Alabama there is a resturaunts called cozy browns try it and you will thank me later.

Restaurant
Parrain's Seafood Restaurant is a local favorite in Baton Rouge, serving up delicious Louisiana seafood dishes in a charming rustic setting with porch seating. The restaurant is known for its delectable Gulf Coast seafood offerings, including classics like gumbo and crawfish etouffee, as well as unique twists like andouille-encrusted fish. On Tuesdays, guests can enjoy 25-cent oysters or indulge in boudin balls and fried alligator at the underrated bar.
I absolutely loved my first time here. It was pretty crowded but I now understand why. I tried a few dishes and they were all amazing. The hen and the dirty rice were delicious. The fried fish and the salmon were excellent choices as well. Definitely will return again soon.
Portia C — Google review
First time going and lets just say they don't disappoint. The appetizers were all good enough to be entres! From the pictures you see the food taste exactly like you see it amazing!! Will definitely go back! Can't forget about the cocktails which were fantastic!!!
Darealsamson — Google review
The food was amazing. The atmosphere was rich and the air was pungent with many different smells from the food but it didn’t bother me too much. The blueberry cheesecake was fluffy. The chocolate cake texture was rich yet light. It was a little loud in volume so maybe some textile on the walls would help that. It was a lot of fun.
Hannah — Google review
Awesome Aarya for dining out. This is a great location. And great atmosphere. We were seated quickly. Had a great server. One thing I noticed. All the servers were hustling maybe it’s because I was near the kitchen I noticed. Seem like a good place for young people to work. Food was delicious. We got the shebang. And shared the meal. Green beans were cooked perfectly. All the fried food was so delicious. We didn’t even need to ask for tartar or cocktail sauce.
Michael H — Google review
We’ve been wanting to stop by for a while, but between life and kids, we’re just now getting the chance while in town and it was so worth the wait! Some of the best oysters I’ve ever had, and the seafood au gratin was incredible. We didn’t even make it to the entrées because the appetizers had us completely full. The espresso martini was perfection! We’ll definitely be making time to come back next time we’re in town.
Andrea M — Google review
A friend insisted I check out Parrain’s during my visit to Baton Rouge, and spoiler alert—they were absolutely right. So right, in fact, that I went twice! This family-style, barn-inspired restaurant is a true Louisiana gem. Despite the place being packed with families and guests clearly there for a good meal, I was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. From the moment I sat down, the service was attentive and friendly. I needed a moment to browse the menu, so I started with a bowl of seafood gumbo. It was rich, flavorful, and generously packed with a variety of seafood. The warm bread served alongside was the perfect touch. For my entrée, I chose the seafood pasta paired with a side of coleslaw. The portion size? Very generous! I had dinner plans later that evening, so I had to stop myself from finishing every bite—which meant I had to return the next day. Round two included a taste of their chargrilled oysters, boudin rolls, and the seafood platter, which came with a sweet and creamy sweet potato mash that stole the show. Again, the portions were large, especially for the price. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and family-friendly, and the Southern hospitality shines from the staff to the food. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Baton Rouge, do yourself a favor and dine at Parrain’s. You won’t be disappointed.
D’Jillisser K — Google review
Coworker and I came in because the reviews looked decent and the pictures of food looked great. Boy are we glad we did stop in. We got in with no wait even though the parking lot seemed full and it looked busy inside. We started with the crab claw appetizer and then each got a fish dish. The appetizer was absolutely delicious and the sauce was the bomb. The fish was tender, well cooked and the light crust was perfect! Topped it off with some pecan pie and i can only hope that I have to travel through the area again so I can come back!
Aric S — Google review
Great Bisque, But Confusing for First-Timers: The lobster bisque is a must-try! I went on a Sunday and truly enjoyed the food (receipt and pics attached). That said, I’m giving 3 stars because—as you’ll see from my photos—the building had a completely different name, which made it confusing to find. As a visitor, it was hard to tell where to park or even where the entrance was, especially in the unforgiving Baton Rouge heat and humidity. I’d recommend the management consider better signage or entry identifiers to help hungry, curious travelers feel more confident walking in.

Sammy's Grill Highland is a popular seafood restaurant that is part of a local chain, offering a variety of seafood dishes from po-boys to platters in a rustic setting. The wood-lined digs create an inviting atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. Known for its boiled crawfish and Acadian Catfish, this establishment has been serving customers since 1988 and has expanded into multiple markets.
Fantastic food with huge portions. The catfish, shrimp salad, and gumbo were all super tasty and lots of it. Service was very good. The atmosphere isn't high-end, but you're not going here for the ambiance. But if you're looking for super food and equally good service, you'll likely be very happy. We'd definitely go back!

We live in Fort Worth, Texas. This restaurant was recommended by a friend who used to live in the area. It didn't disappoint. We loved the food so much we ate here two different times within a week. The service was great. Our servers kept the drinks filled and checked on us several times. The food is delicious and plenty of food for the price. Prices range from $8.99‐25. When back in town, we will definitely be back!
Jeffro T — Google review
Stopped into Sammy's Grill for lunch and had the Thin fried catfish and white beans ( Substituted the white bean with a side of red beans and rice). It was enough for two people. Delicious food and great service. Another go to spot in Baton Rouge.
Jace C — Google review
We looked up this place to get some crawfish... it did not disappoint! Also the egg rolls were amazing. We had a large group so we were charged 20% gratuity... understand why this happens, but we definitely did not get the service to equal that. Will be back for the food and will be hopeful the service is better.
Toni M — Google review
Onion rings and mozzarella sticks were delicious! Main dishes were subpar unfortunately. Waitstaff were friendly but service was pretty slow.
Emily S — Google review
It was a great place for lunch! Food was hot and fresh. Service was fantastic.
Diamond K — Google review
Highly recommend! Delicious food, wonderful attentive service, and nice atmosphere. The best crawfish you’ll have!
Jaime — Google review
The service was very quick on a Thursday night, and the food came quickly and was delicious. I got the grilled bayou catfish and it was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the fried catfish and it was good, but a little salty for his taste. The portion sizes were large, which we appreciated. We spent about $70 including the tip, our meals, and a blueberry lemon drop martini (which was also delicious).

The Chimes is a lively hangout with a worldwide beer selection and hearty bar food. It's known for its energetic atmosphere and diverse menu, offering options like Hallelujah crab, shrimp po-boys, Grits N Grillades, Crawfish Omelet, Eggs Pontchartrain, and Breakfast Burger with cheese grits.
This place is the real deal! If you're in the mood for some great cajun food, stop here. You won't be disappointed! Sit at the bar and ask for Megaan! She gave us the run down and helped us try all the musts!
Christopher Q — Google review
Ate dinner here late on a Friday evening. The restaurant wasn't too busy but there was a decent crowd. I got the soup and salad. The shrimp and corn soup was excellent. They have a pretty lengthy beer menu. You are sure to find something you like. Have been coming here for many years and we'll continue to do so.
Scott H — Google review
Located just steps from the LSU campus, The Chimes is one of Baton Rouge’s most beloved local institutions—a place where the warmth of Southern hospitality meets the energy of a college-town bar. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, with a long polished bar lined with dozens of beer taps and shelves of whiskey, a few televisions tuned to sports, and the friendly bustle of students and locals alike. It’s the kind of place that feels welcoming at any hour, whether for brunch, a casual dinner, or a late-night drink after a game. The food at The Chimes reflects Louisiana’s comfort-driven culinary spirit. The plate pictured, crawfish omelet with creamy grits and a warm biscuit, captures exactly what the restaurant does best: hearty, unfussy dishes made with care and a touch of local flavor. The portions are generous, the presentation simple but appealing, and the flavors unmistakably Southern. Combined with the friendly service and rustic wooden surroundings, it’s easy to see why this spot has earned such loyal regulars over the years. Highly recommended!

Great food and selection Leans toward brewery food with a cajun twist fish gumbo was excellent so we're fried catfish and shrimp shrimp and grits... the star was the sauce and fried grit ball!! located steps from LSU campus This location would be packed crowded during school and football season! Interior nothing special except the cavernous seating!! help servers were top notch!!

Kevin was our waiter on the rooftop deck for dinner. We had a group of 7 from Boston who never ate Louisiana fare before, so Kevin brought us samples and we were able to place a few orders of appetizers and get meals to share and everyone loved it! He made this a great experience for us and we appreciate that. The food was just as good as the service.
Joseph J — Google review
The Chimes was one of the places that was recommended to me by locals. The service was great. Oscar made me the perfect long Island tea. He also recommended the shrimp po boy with spicy mayonnaise. It was delicious. I would definitely recommend The Chives to anyone visiting Baton Rouge. Love the atmosphere, too.
Chevy B — Google review
Great food and even better service! It was our first time at The Chimes, and our waiter Daniel was incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful. He took the time to explain the menu and gave us excellent recommendations! Everything we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend this spot, and if you get Daniel as your server, you’re in great hands!
Jaime C — Google review
We had an incredible dining experience at The Chimes that deserves more than just five stars! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with that Southern charm Baton Rouge is known for. What truly elevated our night, though, was our server, **Ezra**. He was *over the top excellent*—attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made sure our table never went without. As for the food—absolutely amazing. Every dish we tried was full of bold, authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. From the seafood to the signature dishes, everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Chimes is a must-visit. Great vibes, outstanding food, and service that goes above and beyond. Ask for Ezra—you won't be disappointed!

Restaurant
Louisiana Lagniappe Restaurant is a renowned Cajun and Creole establishment that has been serving Gulf seafood with a Creole twist for over 30 years. The restaurant offers a mix of classic and local seafood dishes in a simple and welcoming style, making it an ideal spot for a delightful date night or casual upscale waterfront dining experience.
Where to begin... Excellent service, fine dining, seared tuna steak, drum, soft shell crab, if given enough time and visits one could go down the menu line by line and there's no reason not to. You really can't go wrong. Oh and half price bottle of wine on Mondays? Sounds like a good old fashion, happy hour to me.
Zong H — Google review
Hostesses were uppity acting and very unpleasant with me. I stopped in to pick up gumbo and catfish. However, only catfish was thinly fried catfish, and I don't like it that way. Decided on seafood dressing stuffed bell peppers and gumbo. I've had better gumbo in "New York City". The roux was so dark and thick it was like eating a stew, and there was grit in it from the flour, I assume. The bell peppers barely had any taste to them and were under stuffed for the 34 dollar price tag that was attached to them. They did come with a side salad, bread, and one half of a twice baked baked potato, though. This place is always packed, but I have no idea why.
Barry E — Google review
Underwhelmed… first word that comes to mind. First experience (couple years ago) was good. Tonight was lackluster and so so. I went early and dined in the bar area. The service was not great, they were brining in furniture rearranging chairs and the bartender was in the back a lot. My Sensation salad, included with the meal, was lack luster… fresh, but one cherry tomato, one olive, one peperoncino 🤔 I ordered the “Louisianne”- Black Drum fish / lump crab sautéed in lemon butter. The fish itself, a little crispy was good, but the crab was shredded and DRY. I asked for extra lemon butter and was told that it was real butter on the crab. I understand what lemon butter is, but the dish needed more… It definitely needed something. “Long run for a short slide!” … especially for the price.
Bill C — Google review
I’ve heard many great things about this place so my husband and I were excited to try it. I was underwhelmed. It is very loud and didn’t feel very intimate despite the cozy decor. Our server was nice but didn’t check on us as often as I’d liked. Our food was good but not great considering the price we paid for it. I got the tournedos and my steak and shrimp were overcooked. My husband got the fresh fish in papillote which is their signature dish and he wasn’t impressed. You couldn’t even taste the fish because it was topped with so much stuff. I feel like they missed the point of even serving the fish. Overall, not a horrible experience but definitely not worth the price we paid. We’ve had much better food for way less money. I don’t think we’ll be returning.
Emily M — Google review
We have traveled all through South Louisiana, and this is the best restaurant we’ve eaten yet. Everything came out perfectly. The service was excellent and the black drum with softshell Croft crawfish fried with a cream sauce and lump crab meat was just unbelievable. I must stop every time. I’m in Baton Rouge.
James L — Google review
Wonderful experience and delicious food. They have fantastic weekly specials, the service was excellent and the ambiance is quiet.
Elen C — Google review
Louisiana Lagniappe has never disappointed. The marinated crab claws that we had as an appetizer were very good. The broccoli and cheddar with crab soup was another one of the tasty soups that Lagniappe’s offers from time to time. Of course, if you have not had their seafood stuffed peppers then you are missing out. There is no skimping on the seafood. Every fish dish is mouth watering. The service is on point and the ambiance is just right. I always look forward to dinner here. This restaurant is a must try if you haven’t already done so.
Robin B — Google review
Found this restaurant based on TripAdvisor reviews and glad I did! Even without a reservation I was seated right away. The wait staff was attentive without being overly so, the food came out quickly. The portions were great, the food itself was fresh, tasty, and wonderful. I'll definitely be going back my next trip to Baton Rouge

Indulge in their signature offerings like gumbo, jambalaya, and a unique culinary marvel featuring deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned duck, which is then nestled inside a deboned turkey!
My boyfriend and I visited here first thing after our drive from San Diego and it was the best place we dined on the entirety of the trip. The employees were beyond kind and made us feel as if we were at home. Exemplary service and the food was fantastic (And very budget friendly). Out of all of the restaurants I have been to in Louisiana, I would rate Bellue’s the highest and will definitely be coming back. TDLR: Must visit.

Oh my gosh, what a wonderful experience. The staff was very welcoming like we were their own family. Every customer received the same greeting. The food was outstanding. We had the a fried boudin link, Crawfish Etouffé Supreme w/ fish and shrimp, and Turducken. The fish was perfectly cooked. The sides we had were white beans, red beans, yams, and the cornbread dressing came with both meals. The yams and white beans especially stood out. I recommend 100% that if you live in Baton Rouge or are visiting that you try this place.

An absolute Cajun gem right across the street from the ExxonMobil Chemical Plant in Baton Rouge. They have a large swath of the best of the best Cajun foods and desserts that will knock your socks off. I tried the Shrimp Creole, after getting a sample from the manager. It was their special of the day and I highly recommend it. I also had them add fried shrimp to it as well. The staff will do whatever they can to make you happy and they add a personal touch to the whole experience. They were very attentive to their customer needs. I highly recommend this restaurant! So glad I was able to eat here.

This small restaurant has amazing food. My husband found it on trip advisor & we were NOT disappointed. Our party got the crawfish etouffee, fried fish & shrimp, and the turkey sandwich, all of which were amazing! We will try to stop here again!!

Food was just as I remembered it. Seasoned just right. Had the shrimp pasta with fried shrimp on top with the two sides..ill eat the Mac n cheese and the green beans with tasso and potatoes later😄. Best $14 I've spent in a minute.

Passing through Baton Rouge and looked up something for lunch and this little shop popped up with a 4.8 star review and my husband was like gotta try it out! OMGOODNESS so yummy... I played it safe with fried fish and shrimp broccoli rice casserole and Mac and cheese.... Casserole was the best fish and shrimp season and cooked perfectly, Mac and cheese really good seasoning. My son got the shrimp fettuccine and he devoured it! Definitely will be stopping by again in 3 months when we have to come back for work!

Hands down the best food i ate while in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The crawfish etouffee was absolutely amazing served over cornbread dressing. And the white beans...best white beans I've ever had! This is definitely one of those places that when you pull up and see its an older building and not fancy at all, that you just know the food is going to be out of this world.

The Jambalaya Shoppe is a beloved casual dining spot in Baton Rouge, celebrated for its authentic jambalaya and other classic Cajun dishes like gumbo and crawfish. Founded by Cheryl Fontenot in the early 1990s, this regional chain has expanded to 13 locations throughout downtown. Known for its commitment to Louisiana home cooking, The Jambalaya Shoppe prepares its gumbo from scratch, ensuring a genuine taste of the South.
My friend and I arrived 20 mins til closing and they were out of most menu items, but we're pretty easy going and just really wanted to try some good, quick Cajun food on our trip through the state. This place had just that! We were greeted by friendly staff, even as they cleaned and prepared to go home. They didn't mind us coming in late and helped us decide, since we are not familiar with the area or the menu. The food was delicious and affordable (I am currently trying to deconstruct the potato salad, in order to figure out the recipe). Generous portions, balanced flavor and right amount of spice for this wayward wanderer. What the establishment lacked in atmosphere, it made up for in service, flavor, and efficiency. I would definitely return if the opportunity presents itself.
Lisa A — Google review
Today, I walked in greeted the employee and proceeded with my order. Whoever the young man was had an attitude and said they didn’t have enough jambalaya to fix a small container so I proceed to ask what about potato salad and his response was “what about it” like just attitude. So I simply said thank you and walked out. But if you don’t like your job especially a food setting find a different career. Because making my food I wouldn’t even feel comfortable if you coming off in that manner.

I arrived close to opening time and may have been the first customer. The options are diverse and the meat servings are generous. I had the jambalaya dinner with potato salad and white beans. The beans were very hot so let them cool which is slow! The place started filling up about 11:15.
Brian S — Google review
I had the pastalaya, and it was tasteful with a smoke flavored sausage and chicken! Would try again. I've heard the gumbo and beans with rice are also really good.

Can't go wrong with the shoppe combo. Jambalaya, gumbo, and sides making my mouth water all over again. Food is always consistently excellent. Nice staff and very convenient location.
Eric G — Google review
The pastalaya was piping hot, and very good. Seasoned to perfection. Meat to pasta amount was good. Dark meat chicken is my favorite. I couldn't tell if there was pork also. It was good whatever it was. More meat than last time. The red beans needed salt. The salad dressing was bonk. I didn't get a picture of the no name brand packet dressing. I was too scared to try it. The gumbo tasted like unsalted gravy. I would have liked different sausage in the gumbo than the pastalaya. Seemed like they just use the stuff from the pastalaya for the gumbo.

Super disappointed in my visit. I frequently visit the Gonzalez location when I'm in town. This week I was staying in Baton Rouge and was excited that they had a location close to me. I look at Google before I leave and clearly see they close at 6 so I rushed over there and walked in door at 420 to see just about all the chairs put up already!!! Really an hour and a half early??? Upon walking the first the the person taking my order says "To go?". I responded no I'm eating in if ok. I ordered the jambalaya dinner and wanted white beans which apparently were all out. So i just picked 2 other sides. Next I told the lady I wanted red beans and rice with a sausage link. She ask if i wanted a drink I said yes I want a drink so I can get tea. Grab my cup and go to get tea. Both containers are completely bone dry with spickets off and lids off so I ended up paying for tap water. I get my food the jambalaya was super dry, and there was barely any sausage or chicken. Next I open my red beans rice and no sausage link. I told the lady I had no sausage link and she says the bowl don't have one. I NEVER ORDERED A BOWL!! I TOLD HER EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!!! To me just horrible visit and night and day from the one in Gonzalez. Just felt like I was super rushed and an inconvenience even being there 1 hour and 40 minutes before closure. Not sure if same owner but this place needs a little training. The only reason I gave 3 stars on service because the lady was nice and ended up giving me a sausage link when I went back up and tried to order 1.

We stopped in with a last minute order to feed our office. The staff was super helpful and we got our order out super quickly. They hooked us up with spoons and condiments to go. Everyone at the lunch meeting was happy with the gumbo, rice, potato salad, and bread rolls!

Addie D — Google review
There has been a recent change in the cook here. Since that change, I’ve picked up food twice and both times the food has been terrible. The previous cook did a wonderful job and the portions were generous. Whoever has taken over, is not in the same class as the previous cook. The owner of this franchise will see a drop in sales due to such a dramatic drop in quality. I live close and was a regular customer, but I will not be going back. Update me if the quality ever improves.

Fast food cajun. Very good flavor. Inexpensive. A lot of food. The meal deal (pictured) was $11. More than enough for 2 people. Plenty of meat in everything. All is seasoned well. Only complaint was the gumbo was ok, and wasn't hot; just warm. Overall very good food & plenty good portion. If you get this meal you won't leave hungry.

We wanted to eat good Po-Boys and we came to the right place. We had Acme Special Po-boy with Coleslaw, Fried Shrimp Po-boy with Potato Salad and also a cup of Chicken & Andouille Gumbo. Everything was good and satisfying. Gumbo was a little spicy for my taste but good spicy. Our server was friendly and attentive. We've been to French Quarter location too and we want to come back.

Very commercial. Food was okay, nothing to brag about. No wait for weatinf, half of the restaurant was empty. Staff was attentive. Most of the menu is fried and not a great representation of Louisiana cuisine. Overall, edible and easy if you just want a quick bite but nothing incredible.

Great menu for restaurant week. Boudin egg rolls did not disappoint, 9/10. Redfish seasoned well, 10/10 yellow rice and veggies under seasoned 5/10. Service was great, always a good family friendly atmosphere. I can’t wait to visit again!

Acme was really great when they first came to town, however in my opinion there food has really degraded over the years and it's a shame. If you're in a pinch and have to have seafood, I would say stop in but if you're not in a pinch there are much better Seafood Restaurants on Perkins.

Decided to take my mother here for an evening lunch . My mother ordered a half dozen of charbroiled oysters , she said they were delicious. I ordered a sweet tea & a side order of jambalaya . She served me a water instead . My mother had got her oysters not 5 mins after they were ordered . Where as I had to wait roughly 15 mins for a small side of jambalaya. Then I didn’t recieve it until after I asked her how much longer would the wait be . My waitress seemed to have been distracted which was odd because they restaurant seemingly wasn’t busy .

The restaurant offers classic Cajun dishes like gumbo and crawfish etouffee, as well as unique creations such as andouille-encrusted fish. Despite a long wait due to the Holiday's everyone agreed it was well worth it. Everything we had was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Service was on point and everything was timed correctly once we were seated.

Had a very good experience at Mike Anderson’s. Had the fried crab claws for appetizers then seafood platter with cold slaw which was fine. This was my first time visiting this location and the service is really what sets this restaurant apart. I came here to have lunch with my parents while I was visiting. Emily and Joshua were friendly, pleasant and informative. I could tell that they were both hard workers that enjoyed their jobs, which is hard to find in the restaurant industry. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to visit.
April W — Google review
Great service, good food concepts. Fire oysters were money! Bacon wrapped shrimp, cole slaw and mac & cheese was money! The Guitreau was lacking some seasoning. The seafood gumbo was lacking some seasoning.
Kevin T — Google review
Stopped by Andersons to try the food looks delicious right ? WRONG! the only thing edible on this plate was the fish fillet notice how I said edible because it wasn’t good it was flavorless and overcooked the stuffed bell pepper’s rice was mushy and tasted disgusting everything “stuffed “ on my plate (the crab mushroom shrimp oyster ) all had the same disgusting stuffing that I couldn’t take more than one bite of each , the shrimp was so nasty I had to force myself to finish the one bite I took of it the seafood chowder or whatever it was tasted like throw up I couldn’t even finish the one bite I took the only think I could eat was the baked potato on the side . Considering I only took small bites out of each item to taste I politely asked the manager was their anyway to send it back and get something different or just take it off the ticket to which he told us that we couldn’t we had to pay for food we couldn’t eat “you should be careful ab what you order “ he said.. for your menus to come with a warning is a huge red flag 🚩if you have to put a desclaimer on your menu that you probably might not like your food so be careful with what you order they know their food is trash I should HAVE KNOWN the food was going to be trash ! And had the nerve to offer a Togo plate i had to laugh in his face I wouldn’t even waste my time packing that up and taking it home knowing it would meet the trash a soon as I walked through the door terrible food terrible manager very nice waitress 0/10 would NOT recommend

Came in for lunch with my bestie today and had an awesome experience! Service was prompt in spite of a busy post-graduation lunch crowd, atmosphere was nice (haven’t been since the remodel—it’s so cute!), and food was yummy. We had one small issue with my food, but our amazing server Tanya was able to resolve it quickly and professionally! Thank you Tanya!! We will be back! Edit: the issue with my food was that there was a small bug in it (I wasn’t going to even bother going into it because I thought it was resolved, but apparently not). I was super understanding and Tanya was great and promptly involved the manager (who was also very kind) and got my order remade to go. I was very appreciative! I am a nurse and work nights. I just opened my food (1:30am) to eat lunch at work and there is a literal hairball inside the wrapped up biscuit (see photo). While I was appreciative that my order was remade, I’m now annoyed that there was another issue with my food. Very disappointed in the quality control at Cheesecake Bistro.

Renowned for its mouthwatering Louisiana seafood, Drusilla serves up an array of delectable dishes, including their famous gumbo that locals rave about.

We love the complementary hush puppies and the fish dishes are great. The service is also excellent, our server was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return soon.

Our Sunday visit to Drusilla Seafood exceeded expectations from the moment we walked in. The host promptly greeted us, swiftly guiding us to a table where the attentive waiter and assistant promptly delivered water. As we perused the menu, a delightful surprise of hushpuppies appeared, setting a positive tone. Ordering was a breeze, and the food arrived within a reasonable 25-30 minutes, with a minor order mishap promptly rectified by our attentive waiter. Throughout the meal, his exceptional service stood out, ensuring our needs were met promptly, including keeping our water glasses filled. The dishes, arriving fresh and hot, added to the overall culinary delight. The restaurant's commitment to cleanliness extended to the restrooms, boasting a refreshing and clean ambiance. A noteworthy feature is their accommodation of large parties, offering free room usage for diners – a generous amenity that enhances the dining experience. Conveniently located off the interstate, Drusilla Seafood's easily accessible entrances make it a prime choice for seafood enthusiasts. In conclusion, I highly recommend this establishment for an outstanding seafood experience, blending excellent service, delectable dishes, and thoughtful amenities.

Thank you from the bottom of my stomach, Franks on Airline! My breakfast was absolutely amazing. My waitress, Erica, was so sweet and kind, and my order came out perfect. I’m usually a chicken fried steak girl, but thanks to Destiny’s suggestion, I switched it up today and tried the hamburger steak with grilled onions and brown gravy—delicious! I had my eggs slightly scrambled with a side of grits and buttered toast. Talk about lick-your-chops good! I appreciate those cooks as well! After hearing several positive recommendations, decided to give Frank’s Restaurant a try. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. Ordered the Louisiana Jambalaya Omelet with biscuits but was disappointed with the execution. The omelet was overcooked, and the eggs tasted less than fresh, which made the dish unappetizing. The biscuits were hard and dry, only managed a single bite before setting them aside. Perhaps, I just didn’t order the right item, but overall the meal fell short of expectations. That said, I do want to acknowledge the friendly service from the staff, which was a positive note. While I appreciate the warm atmosphere, not sure I’d return based on this experience alone.

Whether it's the queso, spicy tuna tostada, or table-side guacamole, there are plenty of appetizing options to start your meal.
Very pleasant experience. The service was great. The food was delicious. I love the fresh salsa brought to the table along with the handmade tortillas.

Liiiiiisten.... do not go anywhere else to eat until you try this place! All this time, this hidden gem... we went to celebrate a birthday, and from the time we walked in, until we left, every single staff member was wonderful. Especially our waitress Miss Jenifer! Ma'am, you remind me of when I was young and I was a waitress. You went above and beyond!! Don't forget my advice about the milk!! This place is amazing and the food is the best Mexican food I've had in a very....very long time! Even our to-go order was on point! WE WILL BE BACK!! Thank you everyone who we made contact with there. Keep up the awesome work!! Definitely worth leaving Denham to battle the BR traffic haha!!

The service is exceptional! Nice atmosphere. Perhaps ai chose the wrong food but it was very average. Black beans were really good. Chicken enchiladas (meat and wraps) were quite dry as was the rice. Margarita was a little sweet for my taste.

We had the best experience at Tio’s recently (and as always). We had a large party of 30. The management and staff were so attentive and made sure our experience was perfect! They went above and beyond. The food was amazing and the service was top notch! Thank you Robert and everyone at Tio’s that made our party so awesome!

We stopped in at Tio Javi’s and were blown away by how fresh and flavorful everything was. I had the burrito done chimichanga style—crispy on the outside, stuffed with savory goodness inside—and it hit all the right notes. The chicken quesadilla was another standout: perfectly grilled, generously filled, and served hot and melty. The service was friendly and the atmosphere felt welcoming without trying too hard. It’s clear they care about the food and the people. Whether you're craving Tex-Mex comfort food or just want a solid spot for lunch or dinner, this place delivers. We'll definitely be back!

The food was delicious. The handmade tortillas were phenomenal. Our server Kamryn was outstanding as well. My dish was a little pricier than I normally spend for a lunch dish, but I ate on it twice and it was so good that it was worth it to me.

Went here for a business lunch. Food was very good. The green sauce and salsa they bring out with the chips are both excellent. I especially love the green! Best tortillas I've ever had. They are handmade throughout the day everyday right in the front where you can watch. I had the steak and chicken fajitas which were excellent. The person I was having lunch with had steak tacos which he seemed to enjoy. He ate everything.

I celebrated my birthday here with a party of 10, and everything from start to finish was beyond amazing! When I called to make the reservation, the girl who helped me was incredibly sweet and made the process so easy! When we arrived, our table was already set up and waiting for us. The drinks, the food, and the overall service were top-tier. Huge shoutout to our server, Angel, who was absolutely phenomenal! And big thanks to Robert and Holly at the front for being so warm and accommodating. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make you feel special and taken care of. You can truly feel the pride they take in creating an unforgettable experience. Thank you all so much—you made my birthday unforgettable. Love you guys!

City Cafe is a popular American hangout located in the southeast corner of Baton Rouge. It's known for serving steaks, burgers, and especially their renowned charbroiled oysters. The restaurant has been under the same family ownership for a century, perfecting recipes and traditions that have made it a mainstay in the local food scene.
We find the City Cafe on O’Neal Lane is a great spot for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is friendly and casual, very much a local flare. Our server was excellent, very friendly and attentive. We also very much enjoyed the food. They offer a very wide assortment of local specialties as well as sandwiches, soups and salads.

The first time back after several years, food has degraded somewhat. The place is very neat and clean, and the service is exceptional. Large outdoor patio and full service bar if you're just in the mood for a cocktail. I had catfish atchafalya, and both the fish and etoufee were well cooked but lacking in flavor. One friend had shrimp and grits, which she said was really good. The other friend had a red drum dish with veggies and said it had no seasoning at all. I had a bowl of seafood gumbo, which was delicious. However, the char-grilled oysters we shared were just ok. Ended the meal with key lime pie, which was really good. Mixed bag at best.

Great food, great service, huge menu selection, and great atmosphere ! What else you want ? This is a hidden gem (though not well hidden lol) in BR. We love this place; just real good; especially the chargrilled oysters. WOW. Been here many times and the food is consistently "c'est bon mon cher". Great bar, mimosas, French 75s. and a large drink variety selection too.... this place has it all along with BRUNCH which wont disappoint. 10/10

I have eaten here many times for many years and have never asked to see manager about the food. This is the first time I've asked to get the manager about the food. I was received with a rude response. "We will take the food item off your bill THIS 1 TIME, but the cook says that there is nothing wrong with the way it was cooked." It was as though I was accused of being dishonest and just wanted a food comp. I ordered the shrimp and grits and I understand that the tail remains on the shrimp for flavor. I have no problem with that. BUT, the swimmers on the tail where left on meat of the tail. So every bite of shrimp had shell and swimmers on the tail; even after removing the tail end. I finally got tired of spitting out the swimmers and tail and stopped eating my $19 plate. City Cafe needs to work on customer service and listen to complaints rather than protecting the cook's feelings. Just LISTEN.

Passing through Baton Rouge and tried this place out. Everything we had was great!! The atmosphere and service were both top notch. I tried the 1/2 lb burger with bacon and mushrooms. It was on a very tasty sourdough bun and everything was fresh and great! The hamburger steak was delicious. The Blackened Chicken pasta was excellent. My friend Dave had the City Cafe Burger and he enjoyed it. Definitely try this place out!!

An employee by the name Robin lead me to write this review. If ur restaurant hours are until 9pm then ur kitchen should be ready to serve food until then. No matter if it's a togo or dining in. She was rude refusing to take an order at 8:45pm and hung up the phone before I could say another word. This was very disappointing by itself but just a few weeks ago a piece of stainless steel brillo pad was found in my plate of food. Unfortunately 2 bad eperiences In a month puts a bad taste in my mouth for city cafe

I celebrated my birthday dinner here with friends in 2023, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Valet parking made arrival easy, and the ambiance set the tone for a classy night out. The food was absolutely amazing — flavorful, beautifully presented, and well worth the visit. What stood out even more was the building’s architecture. The original design and elevators have been preserved, giving the space a unique charm that blends history with elegance. Overall: 5/5. Highly recommend for a sophisticated evening in downtown Baton Rouge.

Surprisingly good food. Gumbo was the best. Staff attentive and friendly. Clean, quiet area for a nice relaxing meal. Nice choices for breakfast including a fresh berry option instead of mixed fruit which is so often chunks of under-ripe melon.

Stef — Google review
Halfway decent food but the atmosphere isn’t worthy of it. I'm not even going to dive into the food really because it's irrelevant to how awful the atmosphere and service here is. Honestly, I had a feeling this was going to be a waste of time the second we walked in and drunk idiots were standing and shouting at the top of their lungs at the adjacent bar without being checked by the hotel or restaurant staff. I was right. We arrived at 4:50 for 5:00 reservations. The host table wasn't staffed until ~5 minutes after our reservation so we weren't seated until after our reservation time. He looked bothered that we were there and was not welcoming at all. We only received food menus with no drink menus. Our server asked if we wanted something other than water, but we advised we didn't receive a drink menu so we didn't know. He brought us a tablet with a drink menu on it only after asking and warned that they didn't have everything on the menu without going into specifics. How lovely. We were seated facing the hotel entrance so there were people standing around our table, taking pictures, and having loud conversations. A “date night” place this is not although that’s what it sells itself as. Do not be fooled; it’s an average but extremely overpriced restaurant in the middle of a busy hotel lobby. Seriously, it’s a small seating area cordoned off by stanchions and velvet ropes from the rest of the lobby. It’s not a separate area or anything, so people are coming in with music playing on their phones, loud luggage rolling on the floor, etc. Just terrible. To boot, this was booked as a birthday dinner for my wife and there wasn’t a *single* mention of it from the host or server at any point. I couldn’t have been more disappointed in that. Something so basic just overlooked I suppose. No restaurant worth its salt would ever let that happen. But it’s why we will never return and why I will never recommend this place to anyone for a special event. Ambience here is way, way off and there are better restaurants nearby that do it right. We walked out of here having spent $200+ including tip on 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, a dessert, and 3 drinks and we were happier to be leaving than we were to be there. Don't say you weren't warned.

Nestled in Baton Rouge, Jasmines On the Bayou is a charming eatery that embodies the spirit of Cajun cuisine. This laid-back venue boasts an extensive menu featuring delectable Cajun seafood, mouthwatering burgers, and hearty pastas. Whether you choose to dine on their inviting patio or within the bright interior adorned with high ceilings, every meal promises to be a delight.
My first time eating here. The food was so incredible. My waitress was an absolute sweet heart and perfectly attentive. I got the Cesar salad. It was very fresh. The Rocket Shrimp pasta was superb. I also got the seafood Alfredo. It was so incredible. The portions are generous and enough to take home for later. Even with everything I got my jaw dropped to see the bill was less than $50. Highly highly recommend. The vibes are so good I usually don't dine in. I was extremely happy to see my favorite Gordan Ramsay show was on as well Lol.

Jasmines On the Bayou was ok. The chicken Alfred was seasoned excellent.. The tarter sauce was amazing. The customer service was great as well. The babyback ribs were good as well. We would eat here again.

Our waitress Kaylee was super sweet and the food was served hot and was pretty tasty. Definitely recommend the voodoo egg rolls and the seafood alfredo had a great portion of shrimp and crawfish and crab. We also ordered the Gulf Shrimp which were underwhelming and basic (not really seasoned) but still good. We will likely go back to try other dishes in the future. We also loved the sweet potato casserole which was very sweet and almost a dessert to a wonderful meal.

This is a great little date night or quiet dinner experience. I’d had food from here at a catered event, but hadn’t been there in person until this visit. Impressive. Loved the quaint bayou decor. The menu has a decent choice of selections but still small enough to do all the choices extremely well. We had the Catfish Mornay, and the Roast plate. Loved it. Will be back because we want to try some of the other enticing offerings.

I paid 25.95 for a seafood "Platter" and came up short that should've been called a seafood plate with those baby shrimp and few strips of fish, load of fries and Oysters. I get way more for my money at Parrains, Chimes, or Mike Andersons. The food was ok but the portion was a rip off. Below is what was on the "Platter" minus 1 shrimp I had eaten

'BUGS IN MY FOOD' The lady at the Pickup Window has poor customer service. She was cordial & bubbly with a white guy before me(I'm black) but when I approached, she glanced at me, pretended to do something else & asked if she can help me. I said "I was there to Pickup an online order". She grabbed my order from a side shelf, held it in the air & instead of handing it to me, she sat it on the counter. She barely lifted her head to acknowledge me or my extended hand. That interaction aside, the steamed broccoli had moths & caterpillars, which tells me they never washed them or did a very poor job. They gave me 7 cuts of broccoli with at least two half inch caterpillars per cut. Two of the cuts had one moth each. I had already eaten half the plate before I realized.

This elegant spot opened in 2016 and has become a favorite for its uncomplicated yet delicious southern cuisine.
The crab dip appetizer was incredible and the entrees we got were good, but the gumbo was not good. The service was great, as was the atmosphere. Would recommend coming here and I will likely come back, but I wish the food was more consistently great throughout the menu.

We sat outdoors for our business lunch under perfect weather. Food and service were excellent! My coworker had to change our reservation multiple times due to some unexpected changes and the hostess was very understanding and accommodating. One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge and a must return. I had the fried seafood dish, by far the best fried seafood batch I have had anywhere in a long time! Fried oysters was done perfectly. The light batter was just the perfect amount with enough crunch and flavor. Will definitely return when I am back in Baton Rouge!

We made a reservation and got seated as soon as we checked in. Service was good but food took a while to come out. It was a little disappointing that there was no bread or anything to snack on before receiving our appetizers. The place is small and feels cramped, with maybe 8 tables in total and medium-low lights. We first ordered a small cup of the soup of the day to share in case we didn’t like it. The soup was lackluster, we added salt but it was still missing something. However, our entrees were great. I had chicken paillard and my boyfriend had the pork chop. My dish had the perfect balance of flavors and was exquisite. I’ve never had the dish before and it tasted light, fresh, unique and healthy, but still very filling. My boyfriend’s pork chop was thick, juicy, and full of flavor. It was served with grits and some vegetables on the side. Overall, the entrees are a winner and we’d visit again just for that.

alright, let's start with the vibe of this place! great mood lighting, beautiful art, and a great ambiance. we had the shrimp and watermelon salad, gumbo ya ya, chicken paillard, eliza crab cakes, and crème brûlée. Personally i didn't love the flavor of the gumbo broth, but i haven't had gumbo many times prior. The salad was beautiful but had too much arugula and not enough dressing, walnuts, watermelon, and feta. the eliza crab cakes were phenomenal. the crème brûlée was stunning but sadly not thick enough. service was great and our waitress was wonderful! i really enjoyed the basil cucumber mule mocktail, it was refreshing and light.
Savannah M — Google review
Dinner at Eliza in Baton Rouge felt like stepping into a quietly elegant celebration of Southern hospitality—warm, thoughtful, and deeply delicious from start to finish. We began with drinks that set the tone beautifully: a Watermelon Gimlet—fresh, fragrant, and perfectly balanced—and a crisp, subtly spiced Basil Cucumber Mule Mocktail in a copper mug. Later in the evening, a smooth Espresso Martini brought just the right note of indulgence. The Soft Shell Crab Gnocchi was a standout—perfectly crisp and golden, served over pillowy gnocchi with Lake Pontchartrain blue crab, brightened by pesto cream and sauce vierge. The Chicken Paillard was equally lovely: tender, pan-sautéed chicken with crispy potatoes, Creole mustard sauce, and a peppery arugula salad that brought everything into balance. Dessert was a perfect finale: a light, tangy Lemon Ice Box Pie with a buttery graham cracker crust and just a touch of hazelnut syrup—simple and satisfying. The setting itself is a study in understated charm—refined but never fussy. Polished wood tables, bentwood chairs, and candlelight create a soft, intimate glow, while the walls are anchored by a striking print from John James Audubon’s Birds of America—specifically, Plate 217: Louisiana Heron. This exquisite illustration—delicate in form and poised in presence—is more than décor; it echoes the restaurant’s spirit: graceful, locally rooted, and quietly elevated. And while the food and ambiance were exceptional, it was Amya’s warm, gracious service that truly made the experience memorable. She was intuitive and kind, attentive without ever interrupting the rhythm of the evening—a rare and welcome gift. Eliza is the kind of place that understands what makes a meal linger in your memory: not just what’s on the plate, but how it’s served, where it’s enjoyed, and the thoughtful touch behind it all. We can’t wait to return.

What a diamond in the rough. Charming, quaint, adorable outdoors patio area, and a crisp, clean, chic interior. I was genuinely surprised by the elevated Louisiana Cuisine presented here. I was impressed with their commitment to support local Louisiana businesses and even shout then out on the menu as their local sources. The waitress was polite and exceedingly knowledgeable about the menu. She also told us about a Mardi Gras themed cocktail available. Though I don't drink, it sounded like something that would be enjoyable to others. She also told us about the soup and dish of the day, both of which sounded phenomenal, but I had already made up my mind. The catfish was actually catfish (which, as you may know some businesses use tilapia or other cheap fish instead). It had one of the best shells I have tried. I had mine with lemon wedges and some stone ground horse radish infused mustard which somehow improved on what I already believed to be perfection. The gumbo only gets 4 stars from me. It was flavorful, and the popcorn rice was a nice addition, but I felt the ratio of rice to gumbo was a bit much and that I didn't really get much chicken or sausage.

Was there today for lunch that was a reunion and birthday lunch for an 87 year old friend who traveled from out of state to be with family and friends. I’ve eaten here many times and the food and atmosphere were great as usual, but the server was kind and very attentive. When former Louisiana residents come home they always want to eat at the best places and I was was delighted to introduce her to BB Willow Grove! Over the years I’ve probably eaten nearly everything on the menu. This time I had the tomato basil soup and the seared tuna appetizer. Yum! I think that’s the best tomato basil soup in town!

Went here today for lunch and it was a pleasant experience. Service was good, priced reasonably with good portions and overall good experience. Ordered the shrimp and grits, chicken avocado but and hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was good 👍🏽 my only complaint is that the grits weren't hot and we asked for no tomato on the blt, but it still came out with tomatoes on it. Other than that, everything was nice!

I ordered the Pot Roast Creole today to go because I was pressing for time. I was craving this for 3 days. Of course, the food was amazing and did not disappoint! This dish consists of tender pot roast, garlic mashed potatoes with Creole gravy, and fresh green beans. The meat bursts with juice and so much flavor. Every dish cooked to perfection. Might I add, they have the best carrot souffle in town. Hands down! I have to have a side, every time! I also would recommend their Debris Blue Cheese Chips! OMG!

You have to try the salmon. It was cooked to perfection. I ordered it with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Both of the sides were also cooked exceptionally well. The bleu Mac and cheese was too bleu cheesy so I didn’t like it, but that’s a personal preference. We also got drinks off the happy hour menu and they were delicious. The server was really attentive and when we went we were able to have the whole restaurant to ourselves because it was after the lunch rush. The salmon alone is worth the visit.

Horrible. This restaurant is not a very family friendly. Firstly, they were playing very vulgar music. This place wasn’t advertised as a club. Then the wait time was crazy. It was like 30-40 minutes. The waitress was not a very good waitress. Then the food didn't come out all at once. Got the first two plates then had to wait again for the rest. The plates were small. The chicken was very salty. I had ordered the french toast, it wasn’t good at all. The sausage tasted like rubber and was a little dry. The french toast tasted off almost a bitter taste. The eggs were decent, it didn’t taste like anything. The waffle for the chicken and waffle was very small, like you took a piece of a normal waffle and broke it off. For 5 people we paid $117. The chicken and waffles as well as the french toast was all $15.00. The drinks $3.00 each. Then, the waitress decided on their own accord to add their own gratuity of $18.00!!!! $18!!!! To add, the plates were very small. This is NOT how you run a business. DO NOT take your small children to this establishment. This establishment is NOT family friendly and they did not provide a heads up or list it on their website.

First visit there and we definitely will be back very soon also worth the drive too. The service was amazing!!!! Update: Second Visit---Food was great but on Sundays is more of a club like scene. Music blasting, people dancing all over, hookah amongst other things in the air 🍃. Oustide of the loud music there is definitely a vibe. Also there is a cover charge for men $20 and $10 for women. I've never experienced that at a restaurant. If we go back it will not be during the weekend. Food was seasoned to perfection and worth the money we spent.

Overall great place. Some trips have been hit or miss with non staple items like the bbq potatoes but the regular bbq is good. The brisket is probably the best I have had in baton rouge . Potatoes salad is great as well. The bbq nachos are a family favorite ..burgers are ok. Staff sometimes seem a bit rude and non accommodating. Had a issue last visit but nothing too major..may wait a while before going back but I am sure I will go back again as we love the good food most times.

The chicken was not very warm upon service. The greens were very good. The corn pudding seemed a little tired.

The brisket is tender, tasty and juicy. The White Chocolate Bread Pudding is buttery and sweet.

Our cashier was wonderful!! She was so personable and sweet and happy to help with any questions. The food was great and it was a nice atmosphere to eat in. Decent prices for what they offer. Plus who doesnt love a quite large and phenomenal bread pudding substituted instead of a reg side!?!?!! Its big enough dessert for 2 or whole meal for 1. Love Voodoo and will be back soon:)(:
Samantha G — Google review
Again my first time dining here. Food was fantastic. I'm a big barbeque fan. Service was swift and very polite folks. We will for sure be back to Voodoo. Easy to get to right off the interstate too. Nothing to complain about. Just loved it. Worth 5 star rating. Highly recommended.

Always great food. They may be busy at lunch time but quieter in the evening these days so it's a great place to go and enjoy a good evening meal. Get a beer, BBQ platter and sides and enjoy your meal with great Jazz music. The staff are wonderful and the food is fantastic - I get a happy plate every time I eat here, I've been eating here every week since they opened and it's always been a nice evening and occasional lunch.
Edmund C — Google review
My husband and I stopped here today. It was well worth it. I had 2 meats pulled pork and brisket with greens and potato salad. Let me say this I am from St. Louis, Missouri and we are big critics! Loved all the food it was good. Greens had plenty of meat and seasoned right. Potato salad has meat and sour cream in it. I loved it!!! Meat was seasoned perfectly just right! We will be regulars!!!

If you're on the hunt for a delightful barbecue experience, look no further than Pit-N-Peel BBQ and Seafood. This local gem offers an array of wood-smoked meats that will tantalize your taste buds, including succulent ribs, chicken, and pork. The passion behind the food is palpable, especially from owner Vaughn, who not only serves up incredible dishes but also shares his culinary secrets with guests.
Traveling from Texas to Tennessee and we decided to stop here to grab some crawfish! We were not disappointed! Everything made fresh! We had the crawfish etoufee, wings, and boiled crawfish! Everything was absolutely amazing! Von was great conversation and made sure we were taken care of. Wish we were local to come back!
Toni M — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit to this restaurant. The food was exceptionally flavorful, and I must say, they serve the best crawfish in the Baton Rouge area. The brisket was also incredibly tender. The chef truly has a gift for cooking. I highly recommend this establishment.
Brandon G — Google review
My wife and I really enjoyed the food. The owner was great enjoyed the conversation. Fresh cooked to order food. Will definitely come back

My daughter and her family and I went here last weekend and it was amazing!! The portions were huge and everything was made in house. We were waited on by the owner who is also the cook. Top notch genuine southern food. And the prices were extremely fair. I recommend it to anyone visiting Baton Rouge. You won't be disappointed.
Sarah D — Google review
We were a large mixed group of adults, teens and little kids, the owner was so patient explaining everything and told us what was good for the kids. The food was amazing, large portions, cooked to perfection. His bbq sauce was the bomb, we were all chowing down. If we lived here, this would be a regular place for us. The prices were very reasonable, we highly recommend if you want some of the best food ever.
Sheridan P — Google review
I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The owner is nice, cooks the food himself, and is not shy about getting to know his guests. I know I was the only person in the place he didn't know. The ribs were the best I've had in a very long time. No BBQ sauce needed. The ribs seem to have been seasoned with a rub and the flavor was great. The catfish was no less satisfying. The mustard greens alone are worth coming back for!!! If you drive through Baton Rouge, you have to pull up, take a seat, loosen your belt, and dig in because this place is good. Don't be in a hurry, good food should never be rushed.
N S — Google review
Simple but sufficient menu. The food came out fast and fresh despite the short staffed restaurant. The buffalo shrimp were on point and the 3- pound crawfish were good size and well seasoned. I would recommend the crawfish for lunch for a good deal and fast.

Crawfish on the Geaux is a popular food truck located at 3655 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, LA. It specializes in serving delicious boiled crawfish by the pound along with traditional Cajun sides such as corn, potatoes, and sausage. The food truck operates seasonally during crawfish season and is dedicated to providing top-quality crawfish.
I’m an habitual customer. Crawfish are great sized, boiled with quality. Sides are recommended to complete the meal! Will be returning.
G. D — Google review
So, I've been coming here for almost 4 years. The service is 10/10, and the crawfish was always seasoned to perfection! Until recently, I purchased 10 lbs of crawfish the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, and they were heavily salty and extremely dirty like they hadn't been "perched" as long as they needed to be! After eating the crawfish I became really ill with a bad tummy ache, so bad that on that next day Friday, my daughter took me to the ER room where I was admitted, treated and then discharged on Memorial Day Monday. I've been eating here so long, and I never had a problem before, so I didn't want to blame it on the crawfish, so I didn't and on the following weekend after I was recovered, my kids wanted crawfish so, I went and got them 12 lbs. When I got them home it was the same scenario. They were extremely salty and dirty with so much mud on them! But this time it was to the point that they were inedible! Now for 10 lbs and sides of the corn and potatoes it came to $75 dollars, for this 12 lbs and corn and potatoes it came to $78.30 and I tipped the young lady $3 and some change (I always tip them $2 or more dollars). I called and let the young lady know the issue I was having with the crawfish, assuring to let her know it wasn't about me getting a refund, but that they were too salty and too dirty for my liking and out of 12 lbs, we could only eat about 1/2 a pound. She took my information and gave it to the owner! So, this is where the problem comes in when the owner called me, she automatically was in defense mode! When I explained about me getting sick before, but I didn't want to blame it on the crawfish because I didn't know for sure, she said "oh, no one's ever complained about getting sick off our crawfish!" When I told her about how dirty they were she became defensive again, saying that the crawfish that they get from the supplier are washed when they get them, when they are shipped to their establishment they are washed and once they receive them they wash them also! She then asked me how I paid for the crawfish and I told her cash! She then said oh, there is nothing I can do, because I can't trace your payment🤔. I mean if you are using a POS system it will track all payments (I am an owner of 2 restaurants), but again I let her know it wasn't about the money for me, but just consistency and quality! She then replied "well what do you want me to do, what do you suggest I do! She said it in such a nasty manner and throughout the entirety of the call I can hear her sighing like she was upset or disgusted with me for complaining about what my money has paid for. I told her absolutely nothing and I quickly ended the phone call! You see, I still believe in if I'm treated badly in certain way at an establishment then I just have the option of not patronizing it! So, that's what I will do from now on with this situation, I simply will go spend my money elsewhere! Every trip I've made here has always been anywhere from $75-$130 dollars, each time! Other local seafood businesses would be happy to have me as a customer to spend that each visit and very often! Not one time did I receive an apology of "oh, I'm sorry!" So much for customer service!!

Crawfish is absolutely delicious. A nice spice and very flavorful! The crawfish were a nice size and they were clean. The employees are great and service was quick. Good location too. You have to get out your car to order, but the area is safe.
Kayla B — Google review
we come here all the time and crawfish are always good and they are consistently clean and easy to peel. picked up crawfish last night, 4 pounds and a sausage mix, and expected them to be hard and harder to peel since it's june. they were so easy to peel even though they were a bit darker and harder...end of season crawfish so that's normal. we got home late after running a few errands so we ate them like 2 hours after we picked them up and they were still really warm. ate every single crawfish in the bag and only had one loose head. service is always friendly and super quick. the 2 guys workin the counter were really nice and made sure they got everything right for me. we will be sad when the season is over and ready for next year already
Eleanor J — Google review
Decent seasoning and plenty of juice.About 70 percent of the crawfish was overcooked.About a hand full we’re fishy/dead(I almost gagged eating it). Most were very small ,but it’s still early in the season.Potatoes were good.Sausage had a strange texture,it seemed old. Overall majority was edible ,but I’m very disappointed.Would not recommend this place.

My Husband and I get so excited when we pass the parking lot and they are there for the season. The people are so nice and the crawfish is so good and it's so easy to go up and grab what you want. 10/10 recommend

Great flavor, spicy, but not that much, just exactly the right amount of spice. Their crawfish is legit 🔥😋😋 I wish they had a picnic teable to sit down. Friendly staff. They take cash and debit cards. $11 dlls per pound.

Cajun restaurant
The Jambalaya Shoppe is a laid-back restaurant celebrated for its signature jambalaya and other traditional Cajun dishes like gumbo and crawfish. Visitors to the Louisiana-based eatery can expect a clean, welcoming environment with attentive and friendly staff. Customers are often treated to samples before placing their orders, making for an enjoyable dining experience. For those new to jambalaya, it's described as a delightful culinary discovery at The Jambalaya Shoppe.
With all the craziness from the recent weather, I didn’t realize I was completely out of my back stock of gumbo until Sunday. By the time I made it to one store—and then another, and another—I knew I was out of luck. No chicken, no sausage, no hope of making my own gumbo. But Monday evening, on my way home from work, I decided to stop by The Jambalaya Shoppe in Brusly, and let me tell you, it was the best decision I’ve made in a while! The gumbo was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. It was exactly what I needed to save the day (and my week!). The convenience of grabbing a bucket without compromising on that homemade quality was a lifesaver. I’ll definitely be back, and next time, I’ll know where to go first when I’m in a gumbo pinch!

Ordered food on Oct 14. 2024. Jambalaya, gumbo. Crayfish pie and sides. Every item on the menu was horrible. I can't believe that a business sells awful food like that I could not eat any of it. It was full of salt and the only meat in the jambalaya and gumbo was the thigh of the chicken. No seasonings in it except salt. No green onions. Etc. Waitress were polite. I spent 82.00 on that food. I will tell my credit card company. It was so bad we threw the good away. Jambalaya was goey and sticky and did not seem fresh at all

We ordered a take out dinner…… I got the sausage and chicken jambalaya and my husband got the pork and sausage jambalaya……. It came with white beans, potato salad, and a dinner roll. It was delicious and the prices are great for the amount of food they give you. Sorry I didn’t get any pics but I will definitely be going back. The service was great and the atmosphere was welcoming.

It was my first time ever in the State of Louisiana. The store was clean and the employees were friendly and very attentive. They gave us some samples before we place an order. It was my first time trying Jambalaya and it was Delicious!!!!!

I’m from Texas and I was looking for some good soul food. I found great tasting food and amazing service! I told the gentleman at the front counter that I’m from Texas and never been there. He brought me some delicious food to sample. Originally I was just going to buy just a sausage link but I ended up getting the pork jambalaya bowl. So good!!! 😊

First time eating here, really friendly staff, and we should have one up in iowa, but we dont. Wife and i had both gumbo and jambalaya and we would like to eat here again.
Zachary M — Google review
I ordered Tuesday's special which was pork roast with rice and gravy and there were literally two sample sized pieces of meat on my plate. It was more like a rice and gravy plate with 2 sides. Literally no meat as you can see. I am not sure if this is the normal portion size or if they ran out of meat and just didn't mind to ask me if I wanted something else instead . Their food is normally good.

I'm a french canadian trucker, it's my first time visiting Louisiane and I always wanted to try the food of my distant relatives louisiana acadians but I wasn't here long enough to visit an actual decent restaurant so I ordered from this restaurant with Uber Eat and god knows this food was disappointing, I've ordered combo#1 wich included a gumbo soup, jambalaya rice and so called crawfish pies(I've never had crawfish in my life)... The soup was so salty that I had to drink 2 bottles of water while trying to eat that soup wich I ended up throwing out of the window and the chicken on both jambalaya and soup was DRY and bland... Otherwise the jambalaya rice itself wasn't bad nor fun to eat, same for the crawfish pies who just tasted like bad pork empanadas with a taste of crab. The bread pudding tasted good but was dry as well. Honestly I feel like I have been served "yesterday leftover with lot of salt on it" branded as "cajun food" , I will have to wait for my next trip to Louisiane to have decent Louisiana acadians "cajun" food

If you're on the hunt for a true taste of Louisiana, look no further than Rice & Roux in Baton Rouge. This gem specializes in mouthwatering jambalaya and gumbo, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Southern cuisine. Whether you prefer to dine in or enjoy your meal at home with their convenient takeout and delivery options, Rice & Roux has got you covered.
I was headed towards Florida and saw that I'd be crossing New Orleans. Seizing the opportunity, I had to have my first taste of Jambalaya and Gumbo, dishes that the Food Network has made me drool over for years. I had to check it off my bucket list. I knew I had to have an authentic first taste, so with great impulse, I randomly took an exit on S Acadian and parked at a strip mall. The plan was to ask a local where I could find my objective. I looked around and found the sign "Rice and Roux," so I thought to myself, "Well, that's gotta be it!" I even read it with my best Guy Fieri impression while hosting my imaginary Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The place offers Creole dishes, both authentic and fusion, including their Crawfish pies, Chicken and sausage jambalaya, and delicious Gumbo. The staff was friendly, and I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Shasta. She helped me decide which selections were my best bet, and everything she recommended did not disappoint. I won't bore you with the details of the food because you just have to try it yourself. Support your local businesses. Small-time businesses make it big because locals support them first. And I'm not talking about ordering from Uber Eats or DoorDash. Order, sit down, and have a meal. Say hi to your neighbors. Maybe even have a nice conversation. I'll definitely come back! My mom is gonna love those Crawfish Pies. 10/10

I was in town for work and decided to try this place. I often visit Baton Rouge about twice a month, so I get to try all the good places all over the city. I decided to order the chicken and sausage, jambalaya, the red Beans and rice plate, also a side of catfish fillet. Everything I ordered was brought back to the hotel and when I opened it up when I got to my room, everything was still really fresh and hot. there are a few other places that serve the same types. Addition, the area and I believe Rice and Roux holds their ground with all the other ones. For the most part, I did love everything that I ordered. the catfish was a little salty, and they didn't give me ketchup like I requested. the jambalaya and the red beans and rice were good as well, however, I think they lacked a little bit of flavor. For the most part, I was overall, very happy with my food. I would recommend you trying this place at least once for yourself and personally myself I would order this food again in the future.

I was looking for some Cajun food close by and ran into this place. Had the jambalaya with red beans and the chicken gumbo, and it did not disappoint. Food was very good, traditional and very inexpensive. Place is conveniently right off I-10. That staff was very good and professional. I recommend this spot 100%. Thank you guys. Will return.
