Ruth's Chris Steak House is an upscale American steakhouse chain known for its sizzling, butter-topped beef served in an elegant setting. The Baton Rouge location exudes a traditional steakhouse ambiance with mahogany and oak decor, intimate lighting, and a display of an impressive wine selection. Guests can indulge in their signature steaks and fresh seafood while enjoying the cozy lounge area with an open fireplace.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House – Baton Rouge, LA If you’re looking for a consistently amazing dining experience, Ruth’s Chris in Baton Rouge never disappoints. The food is absolutely top-notch, every dish is prepared with care, but the star of the show is always the steak. No matter how many times I go, it’s always cooked to perfection, just the way I like it. That kind of consistency is rare, and it keeps me coming back. The service is just as impressive. The waitstaff is respectful, attentive, and genuinely helpful without ever feeling overbearing. The bartenders know what they’re doing too, friendly, professional, and they make a great drink. One of my favorite things about this location is the atmosphere. The lighting is dim and cozy, creating a relaxed, intimate vibe that makes dinner feel like an occasion. I really appreciate that kind of environment, no harsh lights, no distractions, just great food and a calm space to enjoy it in. Overall, it’s one of the few places where the food, service, and setting all line up to create a truly enjoyable evening every time. Highly recommend.

My husband and I love coming here for date night! I actually found my favorite wine here and I’m extremely picky. They even let me do a taste test first, which I really appreciated. The service was so sweet and welcoming, and the food was absolutely AMAZING. Can’t wait to come back! 🍷✨

Service was awesome. Came here for my. Birthday with friends and I was very welcomed and taken care of! Caesar Salad was 9/10!

The fried calamari was very good with the sauce on top. We visited Ruth's Chris for our 10th anniversary they surprise us with a cheesecake that tasted delicious.
Author M — Google review
Came here for a celebration with my boyfriend. I appreciate that they asked before seating us, as everyone we encountered congratulated us. Our server Roxanne was wonderful. Knowledgeable about the menu, patient since this was our first time in, and accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend the fried calamari. I am a tough calamari critic and frequently order it wherever I go. This was THE best calamari I’ve ever had; fried crispy, with the squid still being tender. The sauce is like a sweet chili and you cannot skip the lemon squeeze. 100/10. The Veal Osso Buco Ravioli was tasty with the sautéed spinach, but just could not follow the calamari. It’s like listening to a headliner and then the opener comes in. Me and my partner ordered steak medium rare; one with lobster and one with lump crab. It was the most perfect steak I’ve ever had. 1) the quality of steak, the size, the flavor was amazing. 2) that was the truest medium rare steak I have ever received. And I appreciate that Roxanne confirmed what we meant when we ordered med rare. 100/10. To wrap this up: lobster 10/10, lump crab 7/10. Wine 10/10, lem drop martini 10/10 (general cocktail menu was lacking. I wish they had more adventurous options). I will be back, I will order the exact same thing minus the osso.

I go here all the time and Chris does an Atkin with making you feel welcomed. Sondra was amazing in the bar area as always. They are always consistent with celebrating you.

Update: 07/30/25 Got the food to go. Flavorful, cooked perfect temp, and still consistently awesome. I have been to multiple locations - Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Texas, etc. This location has the best overall service, food presentation and taste. I enjoy coming to this one each time. It doesn’t disappoint. One of the real prime meat fine dining restaurants in BR.

I love Ruth Chris and had to celebrate my Anniversary there. I would have given them the 5 Stars it deserves but my Steak wasn't on the 5 Star level this time. I'm sure it was because it was late and right at closing and I'm not one to send a plate back so I dealt with it. Everything else was wonderful and the Blueberry Cheesecake is enough to make me go back alone. Overall, still a great dining experience and I'm sure the next time our Porterhouse will be Medium like we love it. They have the nicest Staff by the way.

It's our go-to anniversary dinner restaurant. Delicious food, drinks, and a kind, attentive staff.

The filet was PERFECTION. The crab cake ..all crab ... it was excellent. The shrimp and grits (I was told by my Dad) was the best ever. The Brussels sprouts were amazing. The French onion soup was better than some you find in Paris. The service was top notch, our server, Ava Claire, was attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening even more enjoyable.

Went here for our anniversary. Everything was delicious aside from the steak, which was so so, and lamb was gamey.. I really didn't care for either. French onion was delicious. Lobster was a little rubbery. The desert and champagne were delectable. These guys went above and beyond to make our day special.

Exceptional service and food!! We first arrived at 2pm, not realizing we could only order off the brunch menu, so we made a 3pm reservation and returned. Both times we were greeted immediately and seated without issue. Emma was our waitress/server and did a phenomenal job!! She gave recommendations of the crab cake and ribeye, both of which we ordered. The food was nothing short of amazing!! I don't mind paying for quality food and service, and Stab's offered both! The portions were definitely large enough to share and we still had leftovers to bring home. If we're ever back in the area, we'll definitely be back. That's for making our first time memorable Ms. Emma!!! ~ The Dark's

I recently celebrated 2 birthdays at Stab's. This was my 1st visit to Stab's, and it was a great dining experience. We received excellent service for our party of 10. The food was superb! I've eaten at several other top rated steakhouses, and this one is now at the top of my list. I loved the variety of the menu and the extensive wine list. I'll definitely have to go back again because I look for consistency in service and food. But for now, they are number one. They entire party of 10 agreed!

J. Alexander's Restaurant is a popular chain known for its contemporary American cuisine with a modern twist, offering wood-fired dishes in a casual yet upscale dining setting. The menu features classic American fare and large salads topped with fish, fowl, and potatoes. While the brunch options are somewhat limited to fried dishes, the restaurant is renowned for its scrumptious dinner offerings that make it an ideal spot for a family-friendly meal or a great date night venue.
This is the perfect place for date night! Everyone was really nice. Our server Ericka was awesome. I asked her recommendations for drinks and she provided two martinis, but I didn't get either one. I like cocktails. It didn't bother me at all because she seemed very knowledgeable on the popular items. I was impressed! I don't always get an appetizer but today I wanted to try something different. The appetizer is fried calamari with marinara. I can tell by the batter that the oil is fresh. The food is seasoned very well. The shrimp tacos were fantastic! I didn't have anything to say about the food other than how good it was for my first time dining experience. I had no room for the peanut butter pie, but Ericka suggested to try the carrot cake which we took home. She made our night and appreciate her.

The employees seem sad, that was weird. The service felt a little lacking. The upsides are that the decor is really nice. Dimly lit, dark brown wood, cozy feel. It is very clean too, even the bathroom looks spotless. Prices are not cheap, but not unreasonable either. The quality of the food is definitely the saving grace. Really tasty and high quality!
Shawad D — Google review
I had an incredible dining experience at J. Alexander’s in Baton Rouge! The crabcakes were absolutely delicious, perfectly golden on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside, with just the right balance of seasoning. They were truly some of the best I’ve had. I also enjoyed the Blueberry Lemon Drop and the Peach Martini, both cocktails were excellent. Not only were they well-crafted and full of flavor, but there was definitely a generous pour, which was a big plus. The Blueberry Lemon Drop was crisp, refreshing, and had just the right amount of tartness, while the Peach Martini was smooth, slightly sweet, and very easy to enjoy. For my entrée, the brine-marinated chicken was a standout, incredibly juicy, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. From start to finish, everything about the meal was top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The entire experience was a taste bud delight dipped in more deliciousness 😋 Those Carolina Lump Crabcakes looked as delicious as they tasted, I wanted to lick my plate! The Ahi tuna salad was seared to perfection with the sweetest combination of home dressing mixed in fresh arugula! Another plate licking plate! The service is impeccable and they care for their customers!!! Thanks J. Alexanders

This is my FAVORITE restaurant to frequent in Baton Rouge and today’s visit was EXCEPTIONAL thanks largely in part to my server DANI. She has a beautiful spirit and is very personable in her approach to service. I’ve never had a bad experience here and today she went exceeded my expectations. Her attention to detail is amazing!! Refilling drinks without me having to ask and continuously checking in me to make sure I was good. It’s people like her who help give J.Alexanders a good name and reputation! Kudos and 10’s across the board to DANI!!🥰
Rhonda Y — Google review
After being told, what a great dining experience, this would be, I left sorely disappoint. I tried the slow roasted prime rib, because that is one of my favorite meals and I had heard so much about this location. It was very tender, but it had little to no flavor. The horseradish had little to no kick, and the mashed potatoes also had very little flavor. The indicators of the meal should have been how quickly it was brought out to me, far too fast for it to have been prepared once I arrived. On the other hand, the atmosphere was fantastic, the staff was fast, cordial, and available for my every need. Unfortunately, it was not enough to make up for the meal and I wouldn’t recommend this is a dining location for anyone.
RVPeak — Google review
My friends and I stopped at this restaurant on our way back to Texas from New Orleans. I was most impressed. The food was excellently prepared. The wait staff was prompt and available. I loved the decor of the restaurant. Very friendly atmosphere. I plan to visit other locations during my travels. Glad my friend recommended it.
Patricia J — Google review
This place is run like a well oiled machine. You can tell the staff loves what they do and where they work. This speaks volumes of management and ownership. The teamwork shown here is admirable. Our server was Emma who was very kind, beautiful, aware, razor focused, & attentive. She literally literally walked by while assisting other tables & had other servers refill drinks & bring extra chips. It was great to experience. My husband & I spoke of how Emma should be a team lead or at the least complimented on her premiere service. Our devil eggs were delivered by Executive Chef Jeremy & were tasty. We also ordered Queso, Steak Maui, & Ribs. I hadnt visited since Executive Chef Francisco (years ago) and I am pleased about the excellence here.

This is my 3rd time coming here I just moved to Baton Rouge from NY and I can say this is the best restaurant in town food, drinks and service. We celebrated Mother’s Day and my wedding here and I can say that Lindsay was very very helpful, made us feel very comfortable. Food was served quick regarding it was Mother’s Day and our was an event. They even surprise us with a surprise gift which we loved.

This was such an amazing experience. The food was certainly worth the money. They don’t sacrifice flavor or serving size like most high end restaurants. The service was superb. I had Lindsay as a server. She is extremely knowledgeable about menu items and brings a bring bubby personality with it.

FLAWLESS!....Again! Thanks to the Chef, Josh and Logan! The whole team is why I've made two trips to stay in BR and eat at your establishment. We are finishing our trip and decided on a great dinner. We will be back. To our server Logan, you did an extraordinary job. He learned about the balance of flavors and enjoyed everything the Chef made. Your attentiveness and your skills will take you much farther than you realize. To the Chef, in an age when we drown food in flavor, you crafted food with light flavors which didn't overpower the other ingredients. To the staff who supported this meal...heartfelt thank you for also making this exceptional experience. Adam

My wife and I really enjoyed our experience at Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Baton Rouge. The food was excellent, and Sham, our server, went above and beyond to make the night even better. We’ll definitely be back!

Sham was very courteous, professional and attentive... The atmosphere was very pleasant.. The rack of lamb was absolutely delicious...The presentation was great.... My son and myself were celebrating Father's Day with a special friend and he is a foodie critic...With every bite taken he was saying, "OH my God "!!!! This is delicious.... We all enjoyed our dinner and the great service!!!! Thanks, Sham!!!!!

It was truly a great date night. We don’t come often, but we do come enough and I appreciate the attentiveness of the staff whenever we come in. My partner and I had dinner and we had a great waiter. Sham was pretty cool, engaging and ensured that we had smooth transitions. He answered questions with ease and we appreciated our time with him. My only challenge was what appeared to be an unfortunate enforcing of rules with some customers and not others. If hats aren’t allowed in the dining area, that should be for all guest. Not just the ones with locs.

Sham was a great sever who did a great job explaining the menu for our first time dining here. We were celebrating our anniversary. Sullivan’s does a great job of celebrating you. Loved the Banana Foster Bread pudding and the Knockout. Thanks Christian!

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is a high-end chain known for its aged prime beef and classic dishes like lobster tails. In surveys, it consistently ranks among the top tier of steakhouses, with tender cuts that hardly require a knife. While it excels in steaks, its seafood offerings are also exceptional, featuring fresh and flavorful locally caught options. The Chilled Seafood Tower is a standout choice for those craving an indulgent seafood experience.
Fine dining. Steaks and brussel sprouts were fantastic. Steven was attentive and an excellent server. Great place for a special event like an anniversary, birthday or anything intimidate. We went on a Wednesday and didn’t require a reservation.

They had a special going on for the Tomahawk and we split it between 3 people. Everything was seasoned perfectly and medium well. The corn and the mac & cheese were so flavorful. Our waiter was very helpful explaining the flavors and menu options to us. (Thank you Patty). They also gave me a rose for my birthday and some tasteful dark chocolate.
Aliyah D — Google review
So me and my wife went just cause we were craving Steaks. I want to first say the environment and service were awesome. It's just they put us in a little room in a corner which I felt was a little odd seeing as they had plenty of free tables. Hence the 3 stars on atmosphere. The food was rather bland i had the 14oz Angus ribeye and my wife had the filet mignon. We ordered the mac and cheese with loaded baked potatoes. It just was not as tasty as I expected. Ruths' Chris which is comparable has a very tasty steak and it melts in your mouth. This one was not that good. The mac and cheese was just meh they use onions in mac and cheese onions!! Really not the best combo. The potatoes were decent just rather dry. Idk for $250 for the both of us i expected more. Sorry!

We just finished the most amazing birthday dinner for my husband. Everything was perfect. The entire staff knew our names and were the most attentive as compared to any fining dining experience we have had. The steaks were cooked exactly as ordered and were so tender we did not need knives. Every course was delicious. My husband was even given a birthday card signed by the staff and candles with his dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Extra thanks to our amazing waiter. We will certainly be back.

My mother and I had a wonderful experience for Mother’s Day. Everything was delicious and well prepared,I would definitely recommend this restaurant ! I don’t have a picture of the lime cheesecake tart , we got it to go..it was amazing!
Magnolia R — Google review
I recently ordered the $18 blue cheese wedge salad to go, and while I did receive the toppings in a separate container, I was really disappointed with the lettuce portion itself. Instead of a full, crisp wedge like the one served in-house, (first picture) I received a thin outer piece that was hollow and lacked substance (second picture). It honestly looked like a scrap piece from the prep station rather than a proper serving. Given the quality I’ve experienced dining in, I expected the to-go salad to reflect the same standards. This felt like a significant downgrade.
Rogue D — Google review
Fleming's usual hits the spot! Service was great and staff was friendly. I enjoyed the meal although the steak was slightly overcooked.
Erica C — Google review
I'll preface this with saying if I could do 3.5* I would. Since I can't I rounded up simply from service and atmosphere not from food. So I'll start with the food was good. But my wife's steak was charred on one side and for the cost that's unacceptable in my opinion. One side was drastically over cooked while the rest was good. My ribeye was very good. The Fleming's potatoes were good, but definitely not great. In my opinion they needed cooked a bit more and or a little less cream of mushroom or whatever they used. Was to creamy. The brussel sprouts were awesome and I don't even like brussel sprouts much. Steven was our waiter and he was good for 95% of our meal. Great service but I sat empty during my meal for about 5 minutes. To be fair, the cups were small and I drink like a camel. A ton at once. Service I give 5*. They had a rose for my wife. House made chocolates as well. The atmosphere is really good. It's a bit busy with tables but lovely for a dinner.

Doe's Eat Place is a well-established American restaurant known for its casual and relaxed atmosphere. The Baton Rouge location offers a unique blend of Louisiana dishes, such as gumbo, alongside their famous Delta-style tamales and generously sized porterhouse steaks. The restaurant is popular for its gluten-free options and is considered a local institution since its opening in 1941.
Doe's Eat Place has become a staple in the Baton Rouge area. Their steaks and filets are delicious but you need to bring your appetite along with you. The smallest steak is 1.5 pounds, that's a lot of meat to put away. They have some of the best tamales you can find, and the optional Chilli you can get to put over them is FIYA. Staff is always friendly and extremely good at their jobs. There are other options on the menu such as pasta and seafood, as well as some of the best dessert biscuits as a finisher. Give them a try if you're on Government Street.
Barry E — Google review
Doe's Eat Place, 3723 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. While my Restaurant Week review is slightly delayed, I'm pleased to share my experience. Following recommendations, I sampled both the tamales and steak. Although the tamales weren't part of the three-course Restaurant Week menu, they are highly recommended. The three-course meal included mushroom soup, a 24-oz steak with mashed potatoes and collard greens, and a dessert (the name of which I regrettably forgot). I plan to return to Doe's Eat Place to enjoy the tamales again and explore other menu items. #tonylameats #batonrougela #doeeatplace #doeseatplace #steak #tamales #restaurantweekbr

Always an excellent experience. I always get the hamburger steak for lunch. The side salad I get with ranch and Italian on the side because they are both so good. Not seen are the tamales which are also excellent and served with a homemade chili style sauce! The steaks are huge so I recommend splitting one if you choose !! They are well known for their steaks for sure!

The food was amazing. The service was great. The reviews already told me that. The ribeye was the smallest cut of it they had- 1.5#. That’s a big steak!! Temp was perfect. Seasoning was slightly bland- to be expected for the masses. The only reason for the 4 star- was price. It was quite pricey- I was expecting a price tag from the reviews, but I expected a percent, not a factor. The food was good… it just wasn’t $100+ good.

Doe’s is extremely accommodating with an exceptional wait staff! The best ribeye & tuna steak in town, hands down! Oh, & don’t skip the tamales, brussel sprouts, or asparagus!! Truly have never had a bad experience. Highly recommend!

Good food. Good service. Relaxed atmosphere. Quite pricey but expected for what it is. Not an every day place, but I would DEFINITELY go again.

I've always wanted to stop here for a meal, and with my birthday coming up soon and this being restaurant week - I decided to stop and have an early dinner. Ordered their set menu for restaurant week which was a huge 24 oz ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes and nice side salad and dessert. They also had two other protein choices for the restaurant week menu if you don't want steak The ribeye steak was HUGE and very tasty. The only reason I took off one star was that it could have been just a little bit more tender. Mind you it wasn't tough, but not the most tender steak I've ever had. Still, I really enjoyed my steak birthday dinner and staff were very friendly. FYI, if you've never eaten there it is very low-keyed and casual. Will definitely come back for a lunch sometime and try their hamburgers and their club sandwich.

The 3lb porterhouse was good, but it wasn’t $139 good. Texas Roadhouse has a more flavorful steak at a fraction of the cost. The shrimp were pretty good, but again, in South Louisiana, you’ve got to have an amazing recipe to beat out the competition. Taste of LA Cafe shrimp are much better. The staff and customer service were absolutely amazing. 5-stars for them!

Known for its boiled crawfish and Acadian Catfish, this establishment has been serving customers since 1988 and has expanded into multiple markets.
Fantastic food with huge portions. The catfish, shrimp salad, and gumbo were all super tasty and lots of it. Service was very good. The atmosphere isn't high-end, but you're not going here for the ambiance. But if you're looking for super food and equally good service, you'll likely be very happy. We'd definitely go back!

We live in Fort Worth, Texas. This restaurant was recommended by a friend who used to live in the area. It didn't disappoint. We loved the food so much we ate here two different times within a week. The service was great. Our servers kept the drinks filled and checked on us several times. The food is delicious and plenty of food for the price. Prices range from $8.99‐25. When back in town, we will definitely be back!

Stopped into Sammy's Grill for lunch and had the Thin fried catfish and white beans ( Substituted the white bean with a side of red beans and rice). It was enough for two people. Delicious food and great service. Another go to spot in Baton Rouge.

We looked up this place to get some crawfish... it did not disappoint! Also the egg rolls were amazing. We had a large group so we were charged 20% gratuity... understand why this happens, but we definitely did not get the service to equal that. Will be back for the food and will be hopeful the service is better.

The service was very quick on a Thursday night, and the food came quickly and was delicious. I got the grilled bayou catfish and it was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the fried catfish and it was good, but a little salty for his taste. The portion sizes were large, which we appreciated. We spent about $70 including the tip, our meals, and a blueberry lemon drop martini (which was also delicious).

The Chimes is a lively hangout with a worldwide beer selection and hearty bar food. It's known for its energetic atmosphere and diverse menu, offering options like Hallelujah crab, shrimp po-boys, Grits N Grillades, Crawfish Omelet, Eggs Pontchartrain, and Breakfast Burger with cheese grits.
This place is the real deal! If you're in the mood for some great cajun food, stop here. You won't be disappointed! Sit at the bar and ask for Megaan! She gave us the run down and helped us try all the musts!

Ate dinner here late on a Friday evening. The restaurant wasn't too busy but there was a decent crowd. I got the soup and salad. The shrimp and corn soup was excellent. They have a pretty lengthy beer menu. You are sure to find something you like. Have been coming here for many years and we'll continue to do so.

Located just steps from the LSU campus, The Chimes is one of Baton Rouge’s most beloved local institutions—a place where the warmth of Southern hospitality meets the energy of a college-town bar. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, with a long polished bar lined with dozens of beer taps and shelves of whiskey, a few televisions tuned to sports, and the friendly bustle of students and locals alike. It’s the kind of place that feels welcoming at any hour, whether for brunch, a casual dinner, or a late-night drink after a game. The food at The Chimes reflects Louisiana’s comfort-driven culinary spirit. The plate pictured, crawfish omelet with creamy grits and a warm biscuit, captures exactly what the restaurant does best: hearty, unfussy dishes made with care and a touch of local flavor. The portions are generous, the presentation simple but appealing, and the flavors unmistakably Southern. Combined with the friendly service and rustic wooden surroundings, it’s easy to see why this spot has earned such loyal regulars over the years. Highly recommended!

Kevin was our waiter on the rooftop deck for dinner. We had a group of 7 from Boston who never ate Louisiana fare before, so Kevin brought us samples and we were able to place a few orders of appetizers and get meals to share and everyone loved it! He made this a great experience for us and we appreciate that. The food was just as good as the service.

The Chimes was one of the places that was recommended to me by locals. The service was great. Oscar made me the perfect long Island tea. He also recommended the shrimp po boy with spicy mayonnaise. We had an incredible dining experience at The Chimes that deserves more than just five stars! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with that Southern charm Baton Rouge is known for. What truly elevated our night, though, was our server, **Ezra**. He was *over the top excellent*—attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made sure our table never went without. As for the food—absolutely amazing. Every dish we tried was full of bold, authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. From the seafood to the signature dishes, everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Chimes is a must-visit. Great vibes, outstanding food, and service that goes above and beyond. Ask for Ezra—you won't be disappointed!

The restaurant prides itself on serving smoked meats with a blend of South Texas flavor and Cajun zest, providing an unmistakable taste. Utterly fantastic! The loaded baked potato was likely pushing 5+ lbs! It was great. Additionally, we had the fish poorboy and crawfish etouffee with fried shrimp. Maybe the best crawfish etouffee I have ever had! Portions were massive, the workers were friendly, and the costs were fair! I'll be back!

We are in town for LSU. I asked the front desk clerk her restaurant recommendations, and Cou-yons was in her top 3. Upon arrival, the parking lot was slightly packed, but it's bc they have a drive-thru line and a call in order line. We chose to dine in. First, let me say the customer service is top tier. I explained that we were from out of town and the young man who was taking our order, kindly explained the menu to us. I got 6 smoked wings with potato salad and cajun rice dressing. My child got a half slab of baby backs with waffle fries and mac and cheese. They have three different flavors of bbq sauce. We both chose the smoky flavor. My food came out fairly quick and looked delicious. My child's took a little longer. I waited until his food came out before I eating. Finally, his food came. We said grace and commenced to chow down. The wings had a good flavor without the sauce. I was more impressed with the rice dressing. I don't eat a lot in one sitting, so I had food left over. I got a to go box for my food. My son's plate was empty, so it was no question if his ribs were good. I ordered food to go as well for later. I ordered a leg quarter plate with rice dressing and baked beans. I got another larger side of rice dressing and an order of bread pudding. Here's where things took turn. Later in the evening I wanted to finish my food. I still had 4 chicken wings left over and some potato salad. I warmed up the wings briefly in the microwave and sat down to eat. The first drummette was fine, however the second one was not cooked all the way through. It was red and raw in the middle and not edible. I was so disappointed and disguested at this point so much that I just threw the rest of my food away. Everything was good for me up until that. You can see the piece of chicken in the pictures I've attached. I spent total of like $75 on 3 meals, an extra side, a dessert and 2 drinks. I wanted to give 5 stars bc while we were in the restaurant, we enjoyed it. I only wished I had picked up that particular drummette and discovered it being raw while I was there, so it could have been corrected. You can’t be out here serving undercooked chicken.

We came here on a Sunday and it was packed. The staff is friendly and gave their suggestions on what we should order since it was our first time here. The fried shrimp loaded baked potatoes was delicious and very filling after eating this meal you are going to pack on a few pounds. My friend ordered the pulled pork with two sides. The Mac and cheese side tasted pretty good. Definitely coming back here to check out a few of the other menu items.

I've only tried the potatoes and I love them! Only thing that could make them better is using louisiana catfish. I know it's expensive but I've always said that about alot of restaurants. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cou-yon’s Cajun Bar-B-Q – Port Allen, LA Whew baby 😮‍💨 this place was an experience! The line was out the door (always a good sign 👏), and the smell alone had my mouth waterin’. I got me a LOADED baked potato piled high with crawfish, fried shrimp, cheese, and all the fixins’ 🦐🥔🧀 — it was Southern heaven in a spud! Now listen… the étouffée wasn’t quite hittin’ like I hoped, and the shrimp weren’t deveined 🙃 but that’s dirty South food for ya — muddy, messy, and full of flavor. My friend had the BBQ and said it was good, not life-changing, but still worth the stop. 🍖🔥 If you want some real down-home, finger-lickin’ Cajun grub, this is it. Come hungry, bring patience for that line, and don’t expect fancy — just pure Louisiana soul food done the Cou-yon way! 💛🇺🇸

The shrimp baked potato was great!! The kids fish was a perfect portion and perfectly seasoned, just a bit rubbery. The Cajun rice was HORRIBLE. It was mushy, and looked and tasted like it sat out all day and was scraped from the bottom of the pan. I won’t be ordering that again and will stick to the baked potato.

Incredible food and service. Five star experience all around. The stars of the dinner were the mash potatoes, seasonal gnocchi, and lamp chops. Filet with crab and hollandaise was amazing too, their calamari is cooked in tallow oil so it’s tastier and healthier, the Steak Diane was delicious (especially if you love mushrooms). The seasonal Spritz was a wonderfully refreshing cocktail. Their seasonal items are well thought out, so I’d recommend trying something off that menu.

Wait time was longer than expected being that we had reservations. Our waitress was very cool. Our drinks and salads were perfect. I ordered the pork chop with mash potatoes and my wife had the lamb chops with creamed spinach. Whatever the gravy was that was on my chop was extremely salty but the chop itself was perfect. Wife loved her lamb chops.

This was a good experience. The calamari was the very best! My steak was good, the butter that accompanied it took the ribeye from ok to good. I enjoyed the wedge salad, although it was a bit small. The grits were not for me. My sister had 2 lobster tails w crawfish risotto and pineapple martini. It was ok but adding lemon made it good. Overall it's a 7/10. Great date night or girls night out

**HIDDEN GEM** If I could, I’d give Levi's Smokehouse Burger more than 5 stars! Without a doubt, it's the best burger I've ever had in my 45 years of enjoying burgers. I often find myself ordering the same thing because it’s just that good! The service is always efficient, thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable staff. A special shout-out to Mr. Robert—definitely ask for him! And don’t forget to save room for dessert! His mom makes the most amazing cheesecake I’ve ever tasted. From the hostess stand to the waitress Amy, the service was impeccable. We had the two egg breakfast, the two pancakes alone, and the three Benedicts-triple threat. Everything was delicious. It was so much food we couldn’t quite finish, and we shared. We had one of each Bloody Mary’s. They put bacon in them which is always my favorite part! Bathrooms were clean and the parking at 9 am on Saturday was easy. When we left at 10 the parking lot was full and there was a wait inside. Good place to stop in and eat. Highly recommend!

Great restaurant in the heart of Baton Rouge. To start with the positives, I must say that the food here was absolutely delicious. Amazing! Definitely a great place to get a meal here in Baton Rouge. The areas of improvement…. The food portions are quite tiny for what you pay for. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. It is $36. $12 more than the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken option. To my dismay, I was very disappointed that it only came with 4 shrimp. (The shrimp was delicious by the way). But it was just 4 little blackened shrimp. Very disappointing. I also ordered the seafood stuffed mushrooms. Absolutely delicious but once again, for $15, I would have expected more than 3 of them. Lastly, the waitstaff was decent. Not great, not horrible. When I expressed my concern with the meager food portions, his response was fairly nonchalant. I would have liked to him to try harder than to shrug it off to inflation.

I’m from Houston and family moved to downtown BR. We had a party of 8, which is not overly large. I’ll start with service, which was extremely below standard. We were sat for a long time before a waitress came to get our drink order. It’s was clear that from that point on there would not be any urgency in her service. Our waitress opening delivery line was in a very mono tone voice “ Do you want to hear the specials” not what I would have expected. Usually restaurants try to sell their specials for the night, hence the word SPECIAL Food unfortunately fell below expectations . I ordered Veal Parmigiana and Chicken Parmigiana and you can see the plate difference. When asked why the different plate and portion , our waitress replied do the kitchen can tell the difference between chicken and veal. Photos are attached. Unfortunately I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are staying downtown BR. Service needs to be improved and food quality definitely needs improvement.
Michael R — Google review
Interesting experience, I used to work at the other location and ate "Veal Marsala" plenty of times. I have never seen one look like this purple sludge I had the other day. It didn't taste bad, it was just reduced with too much extra wine, my experience is that marsala reduced is usually somewhat brown or caramel colored, this has the color of some other type of wine. Aside from that, the fish was excellent, the bread was divine, salads were fresh, and the wine was fine. It seems like when I have beef-related dishes here, I run into strange occurrences.
Ian B — Google review
I had fabulous expectations for this spot. I absolutely LOVE Italian. Made a reservation. Got there early. Anthony the host told us if we didn't take a 2 top or sit at the bar, we could leave. The entire restaurant was booked. The very same 8 tables that were open at 815 were still empty at 925. Unbelievable how rude this guy was. And for what? Moving forward to the food... the bread and roasted garlic was the true highlight. My husband ordered chicken picatta. Generous portion of chicken BUT the sauce was Alfredo like. Thick. Heavy. Not at all traditional picatta sauce. I had the veal milanese. One of my fave dishes. Again... the sauce was Alfredo like. Disgusting. The bartenders that waited on us were the highlight like the bread. I absolutely recommend anyone pondering this place stay away!!! We dine out often. Are easy to please. This was just sub par.

This was my first time eating here. My son and friend came from TN to visit. We had dinner there for about 2 hours. They ordered 7 appetizers for 5 people, unbelievable! Which they ALL were good. Drinks were beautifully made. The entrée were good. I had Lasagna. I wasn't overly pleased with the taste. First time trying FRIED DEVIL EGGS. Ok. I had it berr at another place. Nevertheless, I ate it all. I was so full. We had lots of fun and met 2 new people. I might eat there again in the future. Telling It Like it IS 😐 TerryB 🦼

Brought my BFF for her birthday dinner here by recommendation of another friend. Was extremely disappointed with this dining experience. We started with the highly recommended Bread in half size which was pretty good. Ordered Beef Arancini as appetizer and it ended up being a Large Meatball with tomato sauce. (No Arborio rice & diced seasonings just a few capers spotted in the ground meat) Ordered the Fish Almondine @ $28 only to be informed it would be tilapia (Cheapest fish you can buy) and if I wanted premium fish it would be an additional cost so, I agreed to the premium selection available. It Arrived and fish tasted of being fried in oil that was overused and the fish was dark brown finish to support what it tasted like. Served on a bed of bland steamed broccoli which appears to have been a frozen product. Oddly the plate had what seemed to be just oil puddled in it instead of a traditional browned butter, lemon, and parsley sauce. The BFF suddenly received a Birthday chocolate mousse but other guest had never been offered a dessert menu so had nothing until asking. Once other desert came birthday person had finished. Basically the only food item that was good was the bread. As for the Fish the ADDITIONAL amount was $10 more!!!! Tipped waitress 20% as she had nothing to do with the food quality even though she did poorly with the dessert option. Respectfully will NOT be returning to this establishment nor recommending it to anyone. - Truly sad as this restaurant has been around for some years and could be as good as it once was with just a little effort.

we did the all you can eat, 3 people for $300ish. i forgot to get a pic of my food before i ate it because they bring you meats one after the other. when we sat down we were encouraged to go to the soup and salad bars. i got some lobster bisque instead of whatever the shrimp soup was because the shrimp was shelled. the bisque contained no seafood or solids (just the liquid), so i didn't finish it. our waitress brought us garlic mashed potatoes, cheap fries, and fried cinnamon bananas completely unprompted (fiance said it's a ploy to fill you up on their cheaper foods). the apps went to waste because we were determined to save room for meats. i waited until the end to eat the sugared bananas, but a bitter unripe taste got stuck in my mouth and there wasn't enough sweetness to mask it. took them a bit after our initial request and our waitress going back to the kitchen several times before we got our filet mignon. 3 stars because i hate unnecessary food waste, and i liked some of their meats on the rarer side.

My fiancé and I began our evening with the soup and salad bar, and the lobster bisque was absolutely phenomenal. Every cut of meat we tried was excellent, and the service from the staff was equally impressive—friendly, attentive, and warm throughout our visit. As we were preparing to leave, I casually mentioned that it had been a wonderful birthday dinner. The manager, James, overheard the comment and kindly offered us a complimentary dessert. Although we were too full to enjoy it at the time, he graciously offered to package it for us to take home. Exceptional service like we experienced tonight—especially from James—leaves a lasting impression. I will absolutely be returning and recommending this restaurant to others.

It was my first time dining in at this place. It was super busy, which is understandable for it to be a Saturday. we ended upp having to wait 30 min past our reservation time to be sat. We really did not know what to do at furst, our server was not really specific about the specs on what to expect. The meat was good, some were a little cold but thats okay. The martinis were delicious. Unfortunately towards the end of the night, our stomachs hurt so bad. im not sure if it was the meat being out for too long or the seasoning, but that part left me not wanting to come back.

First Time Visit 07/01/23 We Made a Reservation Arrived Waited for about 5 minutes to be seated. We were seated by an awesome waiter. All of the meats that were served were delicious, hot, and seasoned. A couple of things I wasn't happy about they had no French fries, the utensils were on the bare table, and the tables were kinda close. The water tasted like Tap water. I was not impressed w/ my cocktail. But Overall I really enjoyed my experience and my dinner. Will definitely revisit. For 2 adults w/ cocktails we paid about $150

Nestled in the heart of Baton Rouge, Gino's Restaurant has been a beloved culinary gem since its inception in 1966. Founded by Sicilian immigrant Grace Mama Marino, this family-owned establishment exudes charm and warmth, making it the perfect backdrop for romantic dinners or festive gatherings.
Gino's restaurant was an incredible experience. The food was outstanding, and the service was amazing. If you want authentic Italian food from a family that is from Sicily, make sure you find yourself at Gino's. What an amazing place to dine. You will find many options for a great wine to go with your meal too. Thank you Gino's for a wonderful experience.

Older restaurant that is popular with locals and reasonably priced entrees. Their lasagna is good, with a little heavier on the cheese. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and wine while passing through Baton Rouge. They even had live music when we arrived.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at Gino's in Baton Rouge. The Daou red wine was excellent. Loved the flavorful meatball appetizer and the fresh Mama's Special Salad. The Veal Sorrentina was a highlight - tender, cheesy, and delicious (had to take some home!). Consistent quality keeps me coming back to Gino's.

Authentic Italian American restaurant with a homey yet upscale vibe. The server was impeccable. I had the lunch special veal. The spaghetti that accompanied the veal was the star though. I could drink that red sauce. The veal was prepared perfectly, but it lacked flavor. My daughter's lasagna was delectable as well as the house bread and vinegarette for the salad. I'd definitely return for a date night.

While visiting Baton Rouge we decided on Italian. Picked this place. Service was Great and read Great reviews but unfortunately it didn't live up to the 5 star people we're giving it. Didn't have the taste we we're expecting. Still was worth going but wouldn't go back. There we're a lot of items on the menu they we're out of, so that sucked.

This place feels like one of those plazas in Italy with their interiors. We started with the Lawrence bread. My date got the veal Parmesan with a side of spaghetti and I got the veal Tomahawk special, which was an absolutely splendid chunk of meat. At the end, I was picking it up and eating the meat off the bone like a true caveman. The bowtie pasta came on the side and was also fantastic. I forgot what the dessert was called, but it was also super good.
Alex A — Google review
This place was awesome. The waiter was so professional and helpful. His recommendation for the lamb chops was spot on. Some of the best I've ever had. The wine he recommended paired beautifully. The bowtie pasta side dish was great too! Such an elegant atmosphere.

Beautiful place. Customer service experience from a bald headed server was really bad. I honestly didn’t care for his rudeness as long as the food was good. I am a security guard that can only treat myself every so often. I was paid last Friday and thought about having a nice meal after a long 60hrs work week and the chicken parmigiana was so bad. The chicken was rubber. I am 6’4 260 lbs, so hungry, and I didn’t want to finish my meal, it wast taste at all. The garlic bread that is complimentary in any Italian cantina was charged $6 and it was really good. I would love to have a different experience there so I could go back. The waiter that was having a bad day said he would talk to the chef. I reply: you don’t even care, don’t bother it. Nothing will come from that. Paid the bill with the extra $6, no tip because how can you not have a good chicken parmigiana at an Italian cantina.

Elsie's Plate & Pie is a popular eatery located in an airy, industrial space that used to be a historic post office. The restaurant is known for its sweet and savory pies, which are made using a special pastry recipe from the owner's late grandmother, Elsie Marie Campeau Rupe. The menu features over 200 dessert options as well as Southern comfort food such as crawfish and meat hand pies, seafood pot pies, and various other pie interpretations.
We visited during restaurant week. The $35 special menu included duck cherry hand pies with lemon green onion pesto for appetizers, a seafood curry pie, and dessert nachos or key lime pie. ALL of the dishes were excellent! I wish they would add them to the regular menu. The restaurant is almost always crowded, but worth waiting for a seat. The regular seafood pie is on the menu all my the time. Worth a try for sure. All the desserts are delicious. They offer full pies for take away, but order ahead around the holidays because the best ones run out.

I haven’t been to this restaurant since 2022 but they seem to have gotten even better. 45 minute wait was well worth it. I got the Diablo shrimp melt with havarti cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Also got the crawfish mac & cheese special, which was definitely the star of the show this time. Also got the crustless crab pie which came with a side of red beans and rice and also a salad. I wasn’t even planning on getting any dessert but ended up with the Eye of the Tiger pie with blueberry whipped cream, which was amazing. All around highly recommend this place.

We dropped into Elsie’s Plate and Pie today and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Natchitoches meat pies with crispy brussel sprouts, and everything was absolutely delicious. For dessert, I had the Eye of the Tiger pie. It was rich, sweet, and the perfect finish to the meal. The food was amazing from start to finish, and the atmosphere was just as good. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Me, my aunt, and grannie LOVED Elsie’s! Servers and hostesses were very helpful and friendly and knew the menu well. Every. Single. Thing. we ate was so good. We ordered the crawfish queso and fried pickles to start. Both were a 10/10 and the queso came with homemade pork skins (which I dont usually like) and it was delicious. I ordered the crustless crabmeat pie with fried onions and a blackberry margarita (all 10/10). My aunt ordered the blackened catfish sandwich (8/10) with brussel sprouts. My grannie ordered the honey chop with the parm mashes potatoes and brussel sprouts with the seafood soup (10/10). We have zerooo complaints about any of our food & they plan on coming back when they visit BR again😂 Oh and the prices are great for the quality and amount of food you get! Blueberry hand pie.. DELICIOUS! Our server was a black girl with locs named Maya and we loved her so much <3!

Great place for lunch. We showed up right at opening and got a booth in the back. Order was taken an wait was pretty short. We got Carl's Tomato Pie w/ pimeno salad and a grilled 3 cheese sandwich w/ fries. Coconut cream pie for desert. Wow. Food was hot and delicious.

Even though we live close by I never tried Elsie’s before but I wish I did. Only hamburger my niece got was a bit mediocre but if you think about it they are not famous with that but with their amazing pies. It was her mistake not to get it. I got veggie melt and loved it. My husband got seafood pie and I tried too. It was really good. People were extremely friendly and cute. Highly recommend

Fantastic pies - the seafood pot pie was sensational with a delicious crust and plenty of filling. The mashed potato was very good too. It’s a large place inside and so it was easy to get a table even though they were quite busy.

Great spot to have a meal and hang with your friends and family. They have a great patio with ceiling fans to keep the air moving and keeping it as cool as it can be. The staff is really friendly and attentive. The drinks and beer are on point and the food was GREAT. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Also plenty of parking. If your visiting you should for sure check this place. As for locals, I'm sure they already know how awesome this place is =)

Best BBQ in Louisiana! The crawfish queso was so good, and they serve it with homemade pork skins to scoop it up with, as well as home made crispy fried chips. This place was amazing! Highly recommend if you're driving anywhere near Baton Rouge you stop and give this place a try.

I finally got a chance to eat here and i enjoyed it. The waiter and staff were kind and courteous. The food was seasoned just right, we ordered the blue cheese bib & steak and the brisket burger. Although I enjoyed my salad, I have been craving that brisket burger it was so good I almost tip the cook. The atmosphere was amazing, relaxing, clean environment, they greet you when you enter, say bye when you leave, everyone was smiling and no long faces. I was on a date so this was the right place for it, it can also be a spot to just have time to yourself or me time as I call it. Would I recommend this restaurant YES INDEED.

Had an excellent experience here. Started with the Pork Debris Spring Rolls. So good. Then ordered the City Pork BBQ Platter for the entree. SO much food. Delicious. Didn't eat it all. Leftovers for several days. Would order again. We will definitely come back and try some of the sandwiches next time. Great service and atmosphere here. The music was also good. The Grateful Dead was playing when I walked in.

Had lunch here with family. Food was great! I had the wild boar chile rellano. The staff was so excited about their perfectly cooked egg on top. It was fun. Had the bacon old fashioned - which to be honest - is pretty gimmicky - and I don't care because I got a piece of bacon. The drink was fine otherwise. We had some house chips on the table with some sort of dip that was great too (sorry dont remember the details). Would love to come back another time.

Known for its mouthwatering homemade biscuits—often touted as the best in the world—Frank's is the perfect spot to indulge in hearty breakfast dishes any time of day.
Amazing breakfast, homemade biscuits, large portions. Service was impeccable, the staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend the Mexican hash browns, they are big enough for two people to enjoy despite the beans in the chili it was delicious.

Thank you from the bottom of my stomach, Franks on Airline! My breakfast was absolutely amazing. My waitress, Erica, was so sweet and kind, and my order came out perfect. I’m usually a chicken fried steak girl, but thanks to Destiny’s suggestion, I switched it up today and tried the hamburger steak with grilled onions and brown gravy—delicious! I had my eggs slightly scrambled with a side of grits and buttered toast. Talk about lick-your-chops good! I appreciate those cooks as well! Franks on Airline Baton Rouge never disappoints, and I’ll definitely be back.

I have never been here but Google keeps insisting that I leave a review. The food that I never ate was the best I've never eaten. The service I didn't receive was superior to and service I've never had before. The atmosphere was much more atmospheric than any atmosphere that I've never atmosphered.

Food was excellent and highly recommended if you have never tried this restaurant. Definitely a busy establishment with so many people having breakfast. I will say knowing that the wait for the food is worth it especially getting my food hot and made to order vs something that has been sitting around. Many years ago I worked near Frank’s Restaurant-Baton Rouge, and ate lunch there almost every day. This morning I had the opportunity to eat there again and it is as good as I remember. The atmosphere is great, old school and classic. The service is always excellent and the food is really great. It’s a real treat to breakfast or dinner here.

After hearing several positive recommendations, decided to give Frank’s Restaurant a try. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. Ordered the Louisiana Jambalaya Omelet with biscuits but was disappointed with the execution. The omelet was overcooked, and the eggs tasted less than fresh, which made the dish unappetizing. The biscuits were hard and dry, only managed a single bite before setting them aside. Perhaps, I just didn’t order the right item, but overall the meal fell short of expectations. That said, I do want to acknowledge the friendly service from the staff, which was a positive note. While I appreciate the warm atmosphere, not sure I’d return based on this experience alone.

I was in Baton Rouge for the USBC Open Championships, and Aurora at Pastime Restaurant recommended Frank's for breakfast. I had the pancakes, which our good, but if you want a lighter feel, go with the French Toast. The eggs, meat, and potatoes will bring you back for more. Rachael, Amanda, and the staff will treat you like they know you! There was a crowd both mornings, so we ate at the counter, and waited briefly when we ate at a table.

Frank’s Restaurant is a gem of culinary delight. With each visit, I am consistently impressed by the exceptional quality of their food. Prepared to order with care, every dish bursts with flavor and freshness, ensuring a memorable dining experience. The warmth and hospitality of the staff further elevate the ambiance, as their genuine smiles and welcoming demeanor make each guest feel like family. Nestled in a quaint country setting, the restaurant exudes charm, creating the perfect backdrop for indulging in delicious meals with loved ones. Moreover, their commitment to supporting local businesses is commendable, reflected in the array of carefully curated products available for purchase. Whether it's a hearty breakfast or a satisfying lunch, Frank’s Restaurant surpasses expectations and emerges as a must-visit destination for anyone seeking culinary excellence in the area.

Liiiiiisten.... do not go anywhere else to eat until you try this place! All this time, this hidden gem... we went to celebrate a birthday, and from the time we walked in, until we left, every single staff member was wonderful. Especially our waitress Miss Jenifer! Ma'am, you remind me of when I was young and I was a waitress. You went above and beyond!! Don't forget my advice about the milk!! This place is amazing and the food is the best Mexican food I've had in a very....very long time! Even our to-go order was on point! WE WILL BE BACK!! We stopped in at Tio Javi’s and were blown away by how fresh and flavorful everything was. I had the burrito done chimichanga style—crispy on the outside, stuffed with savory goodness inside—and it hit all the right notes. The chicken quesadilla was another standout: perfectly grilled, generously filled, and served hot and melty. The service was friendly and the atmosphere felt welcoming without trying too hard. It’s clear they care about the food and the people. Whether you're craving Tex-Mex comfort food or just want a solid spot for lunch or dinner, this place delivers. We'll definitely be back!

And big thanks to Robert and Holly at the front for being so warm and accommodating. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make you feel special and taken care of. Texas Roadhouse is a vibrant steakhouse chain that offers an American menu infused with a Southwestern twist, all within a Texas-themed ambiance. Known for their hand-cut steaks, ribs, and chicken, this popular restaurant ensures that tables are strategically arranged to avoid overwhelming the kitchen while still allowing for prompt seating. The attentive and efficient servers enhance the dining experience by providing exceptional service. The food at Texas Roadhouse is superb, with perfectly prepared steaks being one of their specialties.
If I am to be honest, I have to say that the food was OK, nothing above normal expectation, no special seasoning that just made the meal something I had to order again. I have the barbecue chicken and rib combo and it was not bad, but it wasn’t a standout meal that I will never forget. The service was over the top. Two managers came to my table on two separate occasions each to make sure I was enjoying my meal. They were very customer focused. My server was very attentive and there when I needed her, but not being there too much. The atmosphere was lively, but also private where no one disturbed you. I would make a point to go there again.

Its a chain so if you've been to any of them you already know what to expect. Parking is horrible for the volume of business that they do which I think is their greatest downfall. Food is always fresh and flavorful. I really enjoy their ribeyes and their potato skins appetizers. Staff is adequate but not overly helpful. Good option if you have the time to wait.

I recently visited Texas Roadhouse and overall had a good experience. The food was delicious — fresh, flavorful, and just what you’d expect from a place known for hearty meals and great steaks. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a lively yet comfortable vibe that made the wait a bit more bearable.Speaking of the wait — it was definitely on the longer side, which was a bit frustrating. However, the staff was friendly and kept things moving as best they could given how busy it was. If you’re planning to go, I’d recommend calling ahead or using the waitlist to save some time. All in all, it was a solid visit and I’d go back again.

Walked in and was just browsing the menu while waiting to be seated. The hostess came to get us and, mid-walk, snapped, “Go put that menu back, that doesn’t belong on the tables,” like I was a kid stealing crayons at Denny’s. Super unnecessary and awkward. Once seated, the service was… meh. Other tables had friendly, upbeat servers — ours barely checked in, barely smiled, and threw in smug looks like we were bothering her just by being there. Asked for bread and she acted like I’d asked her to personally bake it from scratch. Food was solid — a little salty, but still tasty. Definitely the highlight of the night. Food: 8.0/10 Service: 6.5/10 Hostess: 3.5/10 Still tipped above 20% on a $150+ meal. Not sure if I’d come back — good food can only carry so much when the energy is off

The restaurant also features a lively atmosphere with hibachi seating and expertly prepared fresh fish served nigiri- or sashimi-style.
We so enjoyed our recent visit! Started with the Tokyo Poppers (loved these). Ordered two rolls, Death Valley Roll and Red Dragon Roll. Both were so fresh and tasty! Service was on point!

Server was very nice, great customer service. Atmosphere was great. However, the pink lemonade I ordered was very watered down, and tasted like sugar water, not pink lemonade. Cucumber salad was auful. Would definitely reccomend the clear soup with onions and mushrooms, had a surprisingly strong green onion flavor. Ginger salad was decent. For the main dish, I ordered the Steak and Chicken Hibachi. Came with vegtables, steak, chicken, and hibachi fried rice. The juicy and tender chicken with the flavorful Hibachi fried rice tasted phenomenal! Steak and vegtables tasted decent, although would not reorder. Overall, a very decent experience, would possibly come back sometime in the next 2 years with some family. (Pictures included shows my leftovers, and the clear soup.)

Ichiban does not disappoint. Everything I tried here was straight FIYA. Sushi egg rolls were delicious, pot stickers were hands down the best I've ever had, the pork belly fried rice had a distinct flavor all it's own, and the Death Valley & Ya Ya Rolls are worth every penny. The decor was nice and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Staff was courteous and very friendly. Definitely one of the best restaurants on Essen Lane.

I was taken to this place on the assumption it was one of the best Sushi restaurants in Baton Rouge. The mid century modern atmosphere is warm and inviting. Service was relatively fast, although that made us feel rushed at the same time. The sushi was fresh and delicious, the 2-page variety of options was a little overwhelming for a first timer. No complaints about that as the food should be the main reason for most people to pick this place. I would have had a perfect impression of this place if it wasn’t for the 7 chips in my serving plate. We joked on how many people may have had ceramic sushi. Don’t let this to damage your image. Maybe it’s just time to update the dinnerware.

Had some amazing sushi here! We did the Aphrodite, He-Roll, Ichiban roll - all excellent. Miso soup and gyoza delicious. Put this one on your list!
Jonathan P — Google review
Let’s start off with this 18% gratuity that they charge when sitting at the hibachi table whether it’s 1 person in your party or 100 people in your party every check will have 18% gratuity added to it. We were OKAY with that but expectations were set high. I ordered a crunch roll and never received it.. by the time the server realized I hadn’t received my sushi they realized a couple sitting across from us had been given and now eating our sushi. I didn’t want a remake of it because that would have taken another 30 minutes! Then when the guy comes out to cook he overcooked my lobster as I got the lobster and shrimp hibachi dinner. To me it’s as if the servers KNOW they are getting a tip so they feel they do not have to work as hard because they are getting guaranteed money. The food was okay but not worth the price. I did like the quantity they give but the overall quality was 2/10… it looks better than it tastes. Try at your own risk but I know my family and I will not be back.

The Ruby Slipper is a vibrant cafe that exudes a passion for brunch, offering a relaxed atmosphere and an array of delectable Southern fare. The menu boasts an impressive selection of signature omelets, French toast bites, pig candy bacon bites, fried green tomatoes, loaded tots, seasonal beignets, and various twists on Eggs Benedict. From the indulgent Bananas Foster French Toast to the savory biscuits and gravy and shrimp and grits, there's something to satisfy every palate.
We solo by for a quick rest of our road trip and to try the pancakes. My wife got the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes. They were tasty and flavorful. They tasted like a freshly made Cinnamon roll. I had the Bananas Foster French Toast. They were delisious. The service was excellent, the food came out pretty fast. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We found the pancakes and French Toast pretty pricey for it to be served without any eggs or sides.

This was my first visit, and it was amazing! Everything was delicious from start to finish and our server Hailey was great. If I was staying in town longer I would definitely return! Get the French toast bites, you won’t be disappointed!
Laurie C — Google review
We were among the lucky first customers on the Saturday morning we dined here, having waited in the parking lot for the doors to open. We were promptly seated, but from there, the promptness gave way to a surprisingly slow pace. Our server was friendly, kind, and always wore a smile, which we appreciated. However, the overall service was unusually slow—so much so that it left us genuinely puzzled. The restaurant appeared adequately staffed, and there wasn’t much of a crowd, so the delay didn’t seem to have an obvious cause. That said, everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and thoroughly enjoyable. The food absolutely delivered. Still, the lag in service was the slowest we've experienced in recent memory, and without any clear explanation, it stood out. As visitors from Kansas, we’ve heard that Southern hospitality can have a more relaxed pace, but this caught us off guard. We’d definitely return for the food—but next time, we’ll come prepared for a leisurely experience.

Great atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or business meeting. Wide selection of wines and a great happy hour drink menu. The food was fresh and delicious!! Striped bass, baked Brie and gnocchi were all top notch.

We arrived at 6:30pm with a table of 8, we had called ahead to reserve an inside table. This restaurant has inside seating & outside covered. Outside is where a small band was playing. Erin was our waitress & got us waters, drinks, & took our appetizer orders. Brussel sprouts, crab cakes, Creole devils on horseback, & smoked brie - all delicious. We ordered 3 smoked prime ribs, 1 roasted chicken, 1 steak frites, & 3 ordered the Sea Bass nightly special. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the fish that delayed our dinner, but they did serve everything hot and fresh. And offered us 2 free desserts for being understanding. We left around 9pm. NOTE - be very careful where you park! One in our group was booted & it's an on demand $200 fine to have it removed, delaying our night even more. The no parking sign was small & facing the wrong way! TRAP!

Love this place! The food is excellent everytime & the patio with live music is always a vibe 👌 Edit: We come here often when we just want a nice drink and good atmosphere. We got to experience their restaurant week menu and the stuffed red snapper was one of the best meals I've ever experienced. Absolutely no notes!! I was dreaming of that dish later in the night. Great service everytime as well!

Everyone in the group enjoyed their food. The waiter was very helpful and attentive. Loved the building and decor. The area of town was also good. I did have a lobster roll (context: i have never had one before) Texture of bread and presentation was excellent. It did taste good but It just wasnt what I was expecting. House salad was good, dressing on it was good.

Outstanding Service and Cocktails from Paul at BIN 77! We came to BIN 77 because of the great reviews, and Paul absolutely lived up to the hype! He was not only our server but also the bartender — and he made the most perfect French 75 and Old Fashioned, both featured on their happy hour menu. His food recommendations were spot on. Instead of the blackened shrimp, he suggested the salt and pepper shrimp for the Thai Salad — and it was a game changer. Everything from drinks to service to food was top-tier. If you're in Baton Rouge, BIN 77 should be at the top of your list — and ask for Paul!

Great upscale/casual place to hangout. Great patio for dining Al fresco. Love the atmosphere… inside bar area is cool and inviting, while the outside “sidebar” is a very nice place to hangout. Staff is very friendly and helpful with dining or wine selections. The food is very good and they have a fantastic wine selection that changes quarterly.

Guests can enjoy communal table options and an array of delectable dishes such as Lobster Sliders, Peruvian Wrap, Criollo, and Green Shakshuka.
Staff could not have been more pleasant. Wine menu was extensive with solid selections. Our mains were well made with fresh ingredients, unique flavors, and the menu took great care to provide top-notch options for vegans and gluten intolerant folks. While I’m not vegan, the chocolate vegan ice cream was incredibly decadent and delicious. The website pictures made me think seating was communal; it is not. We wish we could move this gem to our town.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands-down the best ribeye we’ve ever had! Cocha absolutely blew us away. My husband and I stopped in for dinner and ordered the ribeye steaks with leek purée, mushrooms, and asparagus—and let me tell you, we’re still talking about it! Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. That leek purée deserves its own fan club. We got the yellowfin tuna & rice as an app and it was spicy and delicious! The service was just as incredible as the food. Jess was our server and she was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. She made the entire experience even better. We sat out front, which was such a cozy and relaxing spot. The vibe was peaceful and inviting, and since we were staying within walking distance, we got to enjoy a lovely stroll to and from the restaurant. The cocktails? Also a 10/10. Cocha is the whole package: food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. If you’re in Baton Rouge, this place is a must. Five stars all the way! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We went for brunch and it was wonderful. We sat outside because it was a nice day, they had live music inside that they were piping to the outdoor seating. Our waitress was very well informed and also patient as we tried to narrow down the menu. I was very happy with my decision but will be back soon to try more of their creations!

Gorgeous space, interesting menu choices, stellar service. We went for brunch on a Saturday around 11:30 and there was no wait, only maybe three other tables were sat. I got a Thai julep that was bright and refreshing, my partner got some sour beer on draft that he liked. I got the Japanese patatas bravas, everything about the dish was incredible but the brisket was waaaay overcooked. It was dry like jerky, which was disappointing. The potatoes and egg and kewpie mayo more than made up for that, though. My partner got the pork belly sliders and THOSE were absolute perfection. Phenomenal bite. We would definitely go back for dinner or a weekday lunch.

One of the best restaurants in Baton Rouge hands down. Not only is their food and atmosphere great, their employees are fantastic like the owners. I had my rehearsal dinner there in the back room and all my family loved it. The food was amazing along with the friendly and laid back atmosphere. They made it so easy to reserve for my party size and the service was amazing!

Stopped in for dinner....didn't know it was wine tasting event night but they found us a table in the back. Dinner was excellent but it was a bit pricey (to be fair, I ordered a rib-eye steak - an off-menu offering). Cocktails are also a bit spendy but, to be fair, were very well done. Shout out to Bert for putting up with us out-of-towners!
Todd S — Google review
The restaurant is really cool and has great food, but I have given service 4 stars since it took about 2 hours to get our main entree last Friday! The oven went out and place was slammed. Also, we ordered steaks as a special. They were great; however, my 5oz filet was $40 and my husband’s 15 oz ribeye was an eye popping $75! I think the waiter should have warned us as it wasn’t written on the menu. Just sayin’.

The restaurant recently relocated to Essen Lane, presenting an updated menu while retaining old family favorites. The warm and friendly atmosphere provides traditional indoor seating as well as a climate-controlled patio area.
This was our first time at Zorba’s Greek Bistro. The atmosphere is nice, warm and inviting with simple and tasteful decor. I hod the meat grape leaves and my wife had a gyro sandwich. Both were delicious. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive as were all of the staff that we encountered.

Zorba's is a truly great place. We dined there often for many years and ALWAYS enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and servers! We often have lunch with friends these days, but we do not eat out as much now. Still, we love to order take-out for home, and the food is always perfect! A special treat for dinner. Autumn went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect — from recommending delicious dishes to keeping our drinks full and checking on us with genuine care. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the service was truly top-notch. Autumn’s positive energy and professionalism made the whole experience special. If you go to Zorba’s (and you definitely should!), ask for Autumn — she’s amazing and will make your visit unforgettable!

From the moment you step inside Zorba’s, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that sets the tone for an unforgettable meal. The star of Zorba’s is undoubtedly the chef, both an LSU & Culinary Institute of America graduate. Her Cypriot roots, expertise, and passion for Greek cuisine are evident in every dish. The menu features traditional Greek dishes, each prepared with a modern twist and the freshest ingredients. One of the standout experiences at Zorba’s is their monthly wine dinners. Each course is perfectly paired with exquisite wines, enhancing the flavors and providing a unique and memorable Sunday evening. Whether you’re a lover of Greek food or new to the cuisine, Zorba’s Greek Bistro promises a delightful culinary journey. The exceptional service, the chef’s remarkable skill, and the wine dinners make this restaurant a must-visit.

GRAND SLAM TO REACH THE POST SEASON! This place is crazy good and has soooooo much to offer. While traveling through Baton Rouge, I grabbed dinner here probably a dozen times. The food is extraordinary! It's so flavorful and so fresh, it's ridiculous. You would imagine it's from some Greek family's kitchen rather than a restaurant. On multiple occasions I had the grilled salmon, several of the chicken dishes, the roasted vegetables (to die for!), and the lemon chicken soup. The food is fresh and super flavorful. I would eat here once a week if I lived in Baton Rouge. You cannot go wrong with this place. I highly recommend it.

Steak perfectly cooked and goes great with the Cajun steak toppings. Loaded baked potato and smoked mac and cheese is delicious. Range rattlers were good with a decent sized shrimp inside. Only complaint I have is that the pecan bread pudding was sold out. A truly great experience.

First time here and it wasnt busy at all but it took our food over 50 mins to get. The mashed potatoes were salty, the fries were salty and too much dressing on our salad. Otherwise it was OK. Good… not great! It’s been a while, so we decided to grab lunch. The place is nice, much nicer than most chain restaurants. Personally don’t care for the “Bro Pop country music”, but I get it. The service was on point and enjoyed their “special cocktail” list. Did not like being asked immediately if we wanted to sign up for their “loyalty program”. We ordered the Hot Nashville chicken sandwich, (which the waitress warned that it was more buffalo style than Nashville). Also ordered the steak salad. The sandwich was fine, but not “Hot Nashville”. The salad was good, not great. The steak was cooked fine to medium rare, but had hard boiled eggs that were dry and cold. Seems like that were boiled then kept in the cooler. Also asked for fresh ground pepper which took quite awhile to get (obviously have only one pepper mill. Overall we were underwhelmed to say the least. 🤷‍♂️

Was there today for lunch that was a reunion and birthday lunch for an 87 year old friend who traveled from out of state to be with family and friends. I’ve eaten here many times and the food and atmosphere were great as usual, but the server was kind and very attentive. When former Louisiana residents come home they always want to eat at the best places and I was was delighted to introduce her to BB Willow Grove! Over the years I’ve probably eaten nearly everything on the menu. This time I had the tomato basil soup and the seared tuna appetizer. Yum! I think that’s the best tomato basil soup in town!

Went here today for lunch and it was a pleasant experience. Service was good, priced reasonably with good portions and overall good experience. Ordered the shrimp and grits, chicken avocado but and hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was good 👍🏽 my only complaint is that the grits weren't hot and we asked for no tomato on the blt, but it still came out with tomatoes on it. Other than that, everything was nice!

I ordered the Pot Roast Creole today to go because I was pressing for time. I was craving this for 3 days. Of course, the food was amazing and did not disappoint! Might I add, they have the best carrot souffle in town. Hands down! I have to have a side, every time! I also would recommend their Debris Blue Cheese Chips! OMG!

You have to try the salmon. It was cooked to perfection. I ordered it with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Both of the sides were also cooked exceptionally well. The bleu Mac and cheese was too bleu cheesy so I didn’t like it, but that’s a personal preference. We also got drinks off the happy hour menu and they were delicious. The server was really attentive and when we went we were able to have the whole restaurant to ourselves because it was after the lunch rush. The salmon alone is worth the visit.

My cousin was in town and wanted some really good food. I found this restaurant online with good reviews. I looked over the menu, which had something for everyone. We were greeted well and seated immediately. Our waiter gave suggestions and answered all of our questions. The food from appetizers to the main dish was delicious. There are dishes on that menu that I have to go back to try.

Our waiter Ethan was amazing and made sure we were taken care of at all times. Filled the drinks before they ever got halfway. Answered questions we had about menu items. The Brie appetizer was sooo good. I had the redfish over polenta and it was tender and full of flavor. My date had the duck and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He asked for the pickled blueberries that come with it to be on the side, and that ended up being the right call. He said they were super tangy, but the duck itself was delicious. It was my first time being there and the atmosphere was really lovely. Flowers at every table, kind of dimmer lighting. A vibe for sure.

Invited to birthday brunch here and enjoyed the experience The menu looks simple, but the food was really delicious. All the veggies were fresh and prepared to perfection. Some at the table thought the dishes needed more seasoning, but I thought they were perfect. The Sunday $5 mimosas were terrific too, and for a $1 more, flavors can be added. Pro tip: ask for blueberry or strawberry in your mimosa. The table enjoyed the lemon drop martini with blueberry. Now, my fave dish was the salad primarily due to the signature Sensation salad dressing: phenomenal.
Eureka M — Google review
I haven’t given 5 stars in awhile but this place was worth it. Ethan was our server and was very attentive and thoughtful. They seated 9 of us during graduation weekend at lunch time! The only reason this place wasn’t packed is likely the slightly high prices…but you get what you pay for. The atmosphere was good, the decor and the music was on point. Certainly enjoyed ourselves. No one in our party had a negative comment. The Thai-ger shrimp was mad good.

my sister and i decided to stop by here for dinner. we sat outside because it was beautiful weather and still light outside. the server was amazing, asked us if it was our first time (it was). we ordered the boudin dip as an appetizer; it was a little too salty paired with the saltines and did not really taste like boudin, despite there being boudin chunks in it. overall, it was good, though. the debris poboy was disappointing for it being a creole restaurant. not seasoned, no taste really, and not very good. the fries were good. best thing we got was HANDS DOWN the apple pie nachos. amazing homemade cinnamon sugar tortilla chips, ice cream, apple chunks, and caramel sauce. omg TO DIE FOR. i would go back just for that! waiter was awesome too!

The food is not the issue. The audacity of our waiter to alter our receipt and add money to his tip is next level. My family visits this location every weekend and sometimes during the weekdays with my in-laws. During our last visit our total was increased by $10. Updated due to the tip. Customers beware and bring cash only.

Had a delicious lunch at Casa Maria with my sister. We were seated immediately & served promptly. The restaurant is well lit, clean, and nicely decorated. We feasted on some crispy chips & salsa while we were waiting for our shrimp fajitas and chicken taco salad. Our drinks were topped off a few times and we were taken care of with excellent service. My only wish was that I had made time to order dessert; but we were pleasantly satisfied with our main course, but next time we will save room!

First I would like to say my server was very polite. Second, I'm guessing the trash truck was late so one of the employees was in the dumpster stomping trash down to make room. Now I didn't let that drive me off because I assumed he worked in the back. Third, me, my daughter and her son sat on the patio which is very nice and decorated beautifully with plants and flowers along the railing. Fourth, my daughters food looked amazing and she enjoyed it. She did say her frozen Margherita was not the best. She also did not like the limited menu they offered for Cinco de Mayo. Maybe that's why the parking lot was sort of empty. Fifth!! I was just outdone on this one! My daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla for her son and after he had a few pieces she went to break another piece and saw a hair cooked into the cheese! I said okay it's one hair I'm gonna brush it off. Well....a bit further into the meal my daughter went to give him rice and noticed another hair on the plate. I went to examine it and started looking and low and behold another group of hairs. I was completely outdone. The amount of hair in my opinion suggested intentional placement. I told the server about the first one and he brushed it off with an apology but after the next discoveries I spoke with a manager. He came out to speak with us and I showed him the plate. He picked it up and examined it like it was an episode of law and order and came to the conclusion we didn't put it in the food. He kindly adjusted the bill which was kind but my thing is that the hair was entirely too curly to be hair from the head. Who is cooking for people back there and putting hair in the food and why? I will never grace their doorway again. Examine your food closely folks.

The food was very regular. We ordered steak tacos al carbón and the rice and beans looked and felt definitely recycled. The tacos only had 2 pieces of steak each. Very Very minimal compared to the same dish at other restaurants in the area. This was our first time and the service was also regular, we brought up the issue to the waitress attention and she said she was going to tell the manager and then nobody came to talk to us and she never brought up the issue again. Also the bathroom appears to lack a cleaning crew from the main door to the floors. We were not impressed.

I have never seen more unprofessional managers, and staff in my life. They call a problem and they refuse to fix it. I used to come here three times a week never coming here again both of the managers need to check their attitudes.

It was my first time trying this restaurant. I love the location, which i realized after coming out of the restaurant, it is near perkins rowe cinemark. The food was AMAZING. I was craving some steak and the tacos were the perfect meal. Quality was excellent and quantity perfect 👌 the chef at this place is for sure a great one. I will be back very soon for some more chips and guac, also. Thank you! Totally recommend this place.

Zeeland Street is a beloved local institution in the heart of Mid City, Baton Rouge. This bustling hotspot offers classic breakfast fare and daily soul food plate lunches. Established in 1989 by Stephanie Phares, it's known for its scratch-made Southern dishes like pot roast, smoked brisket, and Southern vegetable plates. The Zeeland Slam is a popular breakfast choice featuring cheddar cheese grits, buttermilk pancakes, bacon, and eggs cooked to perfection.
The food was delicious. The service was good. The story of the 30+ year old restaurant was captivating! What I noticed about my order, an omelette with hash browns and toast, is that it wasn't greasy or overcooked. It was perfect in the amount, the flavor, and the preparation. Even though some of the LSU football team ordered meals before us, we still got our food in a timely manner. I'll eat here again next time I'm in BR.

Zeeland street market is excellent. A definite staple in the garden district. They do a ton of business at lunch and never disappoint. The Pecan smoke brisket is tender and juicy, the yams are sweet and delicious, and the cabbage tastes like grandma's kitchen. Can't say I've ever had anything I was disappointed with. Do yourself a favor and stop in.

Why have I not been to this place before??? This is a MUST stop for everyone even remotely close to the area. The food was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! The cornbread dressing just may have been the BEST i have ever had…and I have had A LOT!!! The brisket melted in your mouth… It is a rare find…

This was my first time at Zeeland Street restaurant. Saw the write up in the 225 magazine and had to check it out. For now they are only open for breakfast and lunch, their evening seatings under the name 'Beloved' are on hold. I stopped by for lunch and ordered the white beans over rice with a side order of potato salad and cornbread dressing. Everything was delicious. They also had on their daily specials a pot roast that I saw someone in nearby table enjoying thoroughly, plan on going back to try that sometime soon. The cornbread dressing had a little spicy bite to it, but still mild. The potato salad was definitely homemade tasting and creamy...yum. The white beans themselves were not heavily seasoned, but they had a wonderful flavor and were very creamy. The cornbread muffin was a nice little addition.
Brenda K — Google review
I liked the restaurant atmosphere with big windows and natural light, lots of space and bright colors. A good number of menu choices. My to go lunch selections were generous in size but all seemed watered down in taste and texture (and only 1 shrimp & 1 crab piece in my gumbo). I wish I had added some seasoning salt and hot sauce. I think the cornbread and red beans with sausage were the best among the items that I tried. The greens weren't good.

I recently had breakfast at a wonderful place in Zeeland that I can highly recommend to everyone. The classic American breakfast dishes were delicious and the staff really went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary needs as a Muslim. They made sure that there was no cross-contamination with non-halal items, which was very reassuring. The breakfast menu had a great variety of options, from pancakes and eggs to bacon and sausage. I tried the spinach omelette and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My family had the pancakes, and they were fluffy and filling. What impressed me the most was the level of care that the staff showed towards their customers. They took the time to explain the dietary options and made sure that we felt comfortable with our choices. Overall, I would highly recommend this breakfast place to anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service. The fact that they go out of their way to accommodate Muslim dietary needs is a testament to their dedication to customer satisfaction. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast experience!

Food was delicious and staff was nice. The grits were amazing. The ONLY issue was they were short-staffed so service was kinda slow and almost felt forgotten. Would still recommend them because everyone has a bad day.

The food was great! Just a simple homemade breakfast with a great variety of items on the menu. I got the BEST sandwich (bacon, egg, sprouts, tomato), cheddar grits, and hashbrowns. I gave the service 4 stars only because it was minimal, but that was perfect for an early morning and a quiet atmosphere.

Chicken Shack is a cozy outpost that serves up delicious platters of fried chicken along with a variety of hearty sandwiches and sides. It's considered a local legend in its area, offering quirky and approachable dining experiences. While there are other notable places to eat in the vicinity, Chicken Shack stands out for its legendary status. Visitors often find themselves returning to savor the flavorful offerings, making it a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.
By far my new favorite fried chicken. Every piece is a work of art. Perfectly crispy and extremely juicy deliciousness in every bite. The Mac and cheese, red beans and rice, collard greens and the Cajun rice were all fantastic. I also loved the catfish poboy that was loaded with fresh delicious catfish. The little sweet potatoes pies ended the meal with a home run. The lady that ran the place was a delight and a sweetheart. The menu has many other items I want to try.

Knuckles sucking good... damn near at my own fingers off! I've been eating at this spot since I was a kind, and my dad is close friends with the owner, but that's not the half of it. Yes, this place is in the hood, and yes, it has recently been discovered by other people outside the hood, so it has become bigger. However, Mr. Delpit never switched up and never changed. He kept his franchise local and only spread to 3 places, but if im not mistaken, he closed the one-off plank road. The only complaint is,if you dont call in and order, then you will have to place an order, and it could be as quick as a 2 minute wait or 30 minute wait. BUT EVEN A 30 MINUTE WAIT is worth it. The chicken is amazing and the staff is friendly and professional. They are always busy, but they make sure to speak when they see you. On the up, man, they went into the wing business, and it didn't disappoint. We had all the flavors, and it puts any of your big block chain wings to sleep. When you go say hey to Troy and tell him them, Johnsons sent you! He'll know the judges! FYI, theres daily specials, poboys, porkchop dinners, oh, and sweet potato pies! Knuckle sucking good !

Just order a 12 piece with two sides for $40 plus dollars. Food was old. And candy yams tasted like they sat in the fridge next to something else and it soaked up that flavor. I was so mad and disappointed with what they put in my bag and charged me $40 plus dollars for I had to come and post this bad review. I

I would have to say no! Customer service was okay. We walked around the building to find a seat and each windowsill had black bugs, tables were dirty, and sticky. I’ve never eaten a breaded pork chop on bread..it’s always been fried and placed on sliced bread. The pork chop was not properly cooked, gummy, and red on the inside. My coworker and I both returned the pork chop with the stated concerns and didn’t want anything else and LET them keep the money as well. It was that dissatisfying. The side is an extremely small cup (maybe for a toddler) and was not satisfying. The sweet potato pie was tiny for the price and was diabetic sweet. There was too much of sugar in that pie. I would advise this location to pay closer attention to their audience, which the majority is African Americans who are prone to being diagnosed with diabetes. In addition, items with high levels of sugar makes it hard to actually taste the food. There seems to be a problem with producing quality food due to the influx of customers but that’s no excuse when it’s causing you to lose a customer and potential customers. I wouldn’t return for any reason and haven’t recommended any of my family/friends there. Eat at your own risk

2 piece Tuesday great special. But just because it's a special does not mean half fry chicken. Batter is not the same on any day. Serving there friends or people they know first. Crust coming off chicken. Quality is no more. If I'm waiting for chicken why isn't it hot

SoLou in Baton Rouge offers a unique dining experience with its Southern comfort food served with a modern twist. The restaurant's brunch menu, featuring dishes like shrimp and grits and bottomless mimosas, allows visitors to savor the flavors of Baton Rouge. The spacious open-air patio adorned with hanging lights provides an ideal setting for a leisurely weekend morning with friends. SoLou's casual and airy ambiance, along with its delicious food, makes it a popular choice for brunch in the area.
I picked SoLou for a Saturday morning brunch after checking the menu & seeing a unique number of menu items. As pictured below, this establishment has a little something for everyone. The manager, Lauren made sure to make our experience memorable and would check up on us often & take care of any issues that arises. The staff was friendly and helpful as our table had limited real estate and dishes has to be constantly cycled for room purposes. Wanted to give a special shout out to the manager as she literally did it all. From cleaning tables, to birthdays, to coffee cups, to running food. I have never seen a floor manager take such an active approach to make sure each guest was so well taken care of. Kudos to you! SoLou has speciality dishes, unique ambience, and a very welcoming vibe. Thank you for taking the time to make us feel special and making sure we left full. 5/5 phenomenal

The shrimp corn dogs were really good! A great appetizer to share with 4 people. The shrimp and grits were also good if you don't mind a savory style of grits. The burger was okay, nothing to brag about. Chicken and waffles had a good flavor and was a crowd favorite. The ambiance/ atmosphere did not match the style of the food. When walking in it seems like a restaurant where you could dress up a bit but the food was giving dress down. Our server was great and catered to our every need. We did get some slight frozen tater tots and sent those back. Other than that, SoLou was a cute eatery but the food could have been better.

In town for a dance convention so I googled places to eat and SoLou came up as a top place so we decided to give it a try for Sunday brunch. It did not disappoint. It was packed when we got there. Hostess said there was a 30 min wait but we got seated in less than 15. Waitress was super nice. She recommended the LouBerry and margarita drink. We enjoyed them. Also we had the crabmeat cheesecake and hot crawfish dip and they both were delicious. For dessert, we had the bread pudding. All of it was 10/10. Also, they serve pork rinds complimentary while you wait on your food. Seemed like everyone was celebrating a birthday that day so I know the staff sung Happy Birthday at least 10 times while we were there, but they all did it with a smile! Even the manager was singing right along with them. She even came by checking on us a couple of times. Great atmosphere and good fresh food. Will def go back.

Unimpressed with my visit and food unfortunately. Really would give 3.5 stars. We had a party of 7 with a reservation at 1:15pm. I called them saying we were running a few mins late and was told that was fine and we would get seated once we got there. We arrived and waited almost 45 minutes before being seated! What’s the purpose of a reservation if we still have to wait?! The ambiance was good bo complaints there. Busy for Sunday brunch. The food left us feeling underwhelmed. The shrimp corn dogs tasted like they were right out of the freezer. The cauliflower was decent. The crawfish scramble was decent but literally had no seasoning, had to add salt n pepper. Just really disappointed because I came in with high hopes.

We’re in town for bowling and found this great spot by chance. Fantastic spicy gumbo and sweet crab and corn chowder! The truffle Mac and Cheese was delicious and creamy and everything was piping hot! I didn’t get our bartenders name but he was super attentive and made delicious cocktails. Wasn’t very busy when we arrived but was full by the time we left. Great atmosphere, music was just right.

We had a fantastic time at SoLou! Our server Haven was so friendly and helpful. The smoked old fashioned was one of the best I’ve had in town. The crab and brie grilled cheese was so savory and the salmon dish hit all the right flavor notes. We topped off the evening with a table side s’mores set up. Definitely worth every penny!

Ordered through doordash for delivery. Tried the appetizer cauliflower. It was delicious. The Thai sauce & spicy mayo give it a great kick & burst of flavor. Its a large quantity. I was happy with the sauces on the side so it wasn't mushy by the time it reached me. Appreciate that. The side mashed potatoes were decent. The cheddar tater tots were okay. The broccolini was very salty for me. It came with cotton candy & pork chips. They give complimentary cotton candy if you aren't ordering dessert already. Food was clean & tasty. Would definitely dine in and try other entrees. One thing to note is doordash increases the price of each item by a few dollars. Check out the real prices on their website. Another note for doordash is inaccurate description of the items. Ordered a sensation salad-description read tomato, red onion, cucumber, etc. The sensation salad was only lettuce & almonds. It was good but only 2 ingredients & the dressing was thicker then a vinaigrette. Loved the creole cheesecake! Fun dessert. The crunchy aspect was a great surprise. Had caramel, chocolate, raspberry.

Not the best golden corral, actually is the worst I have been The people are good, kind, etc. The food not the better, the mc and cheese it's not the same that other golden corral. The good is that the dessert were very good and with everything. In other golden corral the ice cream never works. The thing they have to get better is the place, very old, dirty, it's not like the other golden corral. Also in new orleans the kids are free, here only the ones under 3. Sorry but not the best place to go, but I think they will work for it

Server was good… only good thing I can say about this place. Still had 1.5 hours left until close, no cooks at the grill. Instead they’re in the back eating the food that we payed for but can’t even get any lol. Back there eating it on paper towels. And then the icing on top….. we go back to the salad bar….. they have about 15 termites, dead and alive, just chilling on the deviled eggs. Told the manager and he was pretty unapologetic. Said the termites were attracted to the lights….. looks like they are attracted to the eggs to me. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Golden Corral is always a great choice when you want variety and a good meal for the whole family! The buffet has something for everyone—from fresh salads and vegetables to comfort foods, steak, and delicious desserts. Everything was hot, well-stocked, and tasted fresh. The staff was friendly and kept the tables clean, and we never felt rushed. Great value for the price, and the kids especially loved the chocolate fountain! Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to. Mrs. Tina was the best waitress I have ever experienced. So sweet and fast with refills and just made the whole experience amazing. Food has really gone down hill here. Doesn't taste fresh, wasnt hot, and we watched a cook touch raw steaks with gloves on and then use those same gloves to hand the cooked steaks out. The roof was leaking next to our table. The waitress wasnt the best either, had to repeat myself 10 times to her, can barely hear when she is talking. Honestly the only decent thing about this place is the salad bar.

Had the Tom Yum soup and the pork and garlic sauce combo with fried rice. Flavors were not good. Soup had big shrimp but the mushrooms and onions were nearly raw. I requested HOT, but the garlic sauce on the entree was more sweet than spicy. The pork was very thinly sliced to make it go farther, but there was still barely any meat. Service was good and dining room was clean, but there are much better Thai food optiona in town.

Nestled in the vibrant Perkins Road Overpass district, Chow Yum is a culinary gem that celebrates the bold and diverse flavors of pan-Asian street food. Under the creative direction of executive chef Jordan Ramirez, this lively eatery offers an array of dishes that are both whimsical and delicious. The star attraction here is undoubtedly their ramen, crafted from a rich 24-hour-simmered pork broth that promises to warm your soul.
I made reservations for my birthday to eat at Chom Yum. I really wanted to try the bao! Our server was attentive and gave us recommendations which made the dining experience great! The Hot Honey Chicken Bao packed a lot of flavor. The crispy chicken, honey, pickled onions, scallions, and the house boursin were a perfect combination of ingredients. The Hissy Fit is a seasonal drink. It's not as sweet as I would like, but I thought it wasn't bad. The Firebird Ramen is spicy! I love the seasoned egg, the miso broth, the crispy chicken.... I ate everything with a smile on my face! One thing I didn't try was the bread pudding because I had a full stomach. I will visit again to enjoy it.

Very impressed with Chow Yum! I normally think fusion restaurants always have meh food and good atmosphere. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks here. We sat at the bar and the bartender was sweet. The place is a little cramped inside, but it was also super busy and a Sunday night. Once it started to clear out it felt cozy & the decor adds to the aesthetic of the entire place. We had the 2 special frozen drinks, a snake wrangler & the Bali blast. Both were really tasty and strong. The snake wrangler is a honeydew melon based cocktail and the Bali blast is similar to a blaja blast with a tropical twist. For food we tried the rib stack, pork belly bao, fried fish bao, & the smokehouse fried rice. The rib stack was 10/10 so tender and so much meat and the sauce was addicting. The baos were also a good size and yummy! The fried rice was meh and didn’t have much flavor. Overall, we would definitely come again as there’s other dishes we want to try and the dessert also sounds bomb.

My family & I got together to meet up at Chow Yum. At first, we were supposed to eat separate since the interior wouldn't allow to set a table for 8. But we were lucky enough to eat outside in the back patio. We heard they were selling their own boiled crawfish. The flavors were surprisingly delicious & spicy. It had hidden quail eggs in the bucket. We shared the T-bokki w/ beef. It's not as spicy but it was really good. One of my Aunt ordered the Dan Dan noodles; she said it tasted really good. We also shared the cafe sua da vietnamese coffee) bread pudding, I forgot to take a picture before everyone took a bite. The flavor was more cinnamon than coffee, but it was still good.

Chow Yum is a great place to enjoy Asian cuisine with a little creole mixed in. We started with the chef dumplings. I got hot honey chicken Bao bun and Bombay chicken. Everything I’ve had from this restaurant has been amazing. I definitely recommend stopping by if you get a chance and try it out.

I ordered Crispy fish curry. The taste was good but it was too sweet. The amount was good. I couldn’t finish it as it was too sweet for my taste. I'd recommend little bit of spice. The decor and lighting could be better. Locationwise It's not the best. We had to wait long time to get the food.

Our food was served to us on dining ware that were very chipped, no soda fountain, only canned drinks which is weird but fine I guess. Then the food came out looking dusty, on top of that our server seemed to not want to be there for whatever reason, loud cursing heard from the kitchen made me concerned about even eating the food. We got the Bao sampler plate, my wife had the beaucoup noodles and I got the Smoke House which was mostly just fried rice. I will say the pork Bao is was the decent. Others were soggy especially the fried fish Bao, they could probably change their fry oil more often as the fried items were a little darker than I prefer. Going to give them another shot in a couple months, hopefully just an off night..

Thoroughly enjoyed New Year's Eve brunch. Owner is So sweet and so was our server who also owns a boutique and Ichibans. I had a lovely Italian red blend and Devan enjoyed sampling brunch cocktails. Creamiest shrimp & grits! All food was delicious!!!

I look for the most relaxing places, as I teach myself to love myself. I believe that this establishment is divine. I wish I could’ve ate there. I only had time to DoorDash, but the food was so good and brought warmth to my soul. I did happen to meet the bartender Macy picking up my order and share a glass of wine with her and I know she couldn’t drink, but I felt like a friend was there definitely a good crew.

Best pizza ever, the crust was light and airy and perfectly charred. The toppings complimented each other and had the just right amount of spice. The Sauce was delectable. The Tres Lechés cake was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. I ordered take out and only wish I could have had my meal there. The place looked amazing and seemed to be a very relaxing comfortable atmosphere.

Love the idea but not the execution. We chose this restaurant because of their gluten free options. Staff was friendly and attentive and ambiance was beautiful but miserably freezing...the AC blows directly on you. The salad I got was good, however the pizza I ordered was straight up burnt! The other pies I saw come out of the oven were fine, but they were the regular crust. They do not know how to time the thinner, cauliflower crust correctly. For me, with dietary restrictions, not sure I'd go again for this reason, but the other pizzas looked good.

Maybe I’m missing something or we went on an off night. I don’t get all the excitement about this place. We stopped in… No reservations, treated very rudely by the hostess. She asked how many and if we had reservations. We I replied no she simply walked away. The other hostess said we could sit at the bar. They apparently were having trouble with their cooling system and had huge cooling fans set up making somewhat loud. The fan where we were sitting was oscillating but blowing right on us. Bartender was nice, very busy. Our food came and we had to get our own silverware and napkins. The pizza was good when it was hot, but cooled of quickly with the huge fan blowing on it. This caused the crust to become so hard you could barely eat it.

I had dinner with a friend at Pizza Art and Wine and had the best time! Pizza Art and Wine recently opened and is located in very nice area. The design and aesthetic of the restaurant is gorgeous! I absolutely love the Art is on every wall, The wine disperser machine had pretty good variety of wines, the menu had a pretty good variety of food; from salads to delicious pizza, you can be sure to find something you'll like. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful when we asked her what food items we should try. If you are interested into trying something unique, Pizza Art and Wine is definitely ur place!!!

I haven't been to the Restaurant yet but I'm giving it 5 Stars because my friend Yilena owns it. This charming restaurant boasts a unique menu featuring standout items like chicken parmesan fries and the popular Touchdown dish. Despite its somewhat out-of-the-way location, many patrons find the journey worthwhile for the exceptional food and service. Guests rave about the perfectly seasoned steaks and flavorful boiled crawfish that are sure to impress even the pickiest eaters.
Awesome food and service. Waitress very helpful with choices. It is not convenient to where we live, but will definitely make the trip again. The steak bites for appetizer was to die for and the sauce. The sweet potatoes fries with their crack butter was delicious. They have lunch specials and night specials. Highly recommend,

An absolutely incredible place with exceptional service. The exterior hides the fact this is one of the most wonderful restaurants in Baton Rouge. Certainly out of the way for most, but worth the drive. After a scrumptious dinner with Jess as our server, we were so impressed with her and our food, we returned the next day for supper. Their lunchtime special and Judy didn't disappoint and we greeted as if we were regulars. I'd go out of my way to return to see them both and eat here again. It was the highlight of all the restaurants we ate at all week. Definitely try their dipping sauce for the sweet potatoes.

It is rare to go out to the same place to dine and have similar experiences each time. My wife and I second visit, the first visit was very nice the meals were great. Our second visit in about 10 months not so great. I ordered the Shrimp Trawler platter which was 29.00$ and it was not worth my money. 5 broiled shrimp, 5 fried shrimp, cup of creole shrimp, 3 hush puppies maybe 1 or 2 stuffed shrimp which I'll never know because the stuff shrimp was substitute with 3 shrimp balls that the waiter did not inform me that the stuff shrimp was no longer available. The whole meal was border line cold, my wife had a burger the fries were cold. I will not be return anytime soon if I do I'm not ordering the Shrimp Trawler.

Super friendly atmosphere from the hostess to the server and manager. The food was delicious and very well seasoned. We ordered the seafood platter and the crabcake garlic butter fettuccine, with added shrimp. We will definitely be back soon.

This was by far one of the best restaurants we’ve been to. The steak is well seasoned and cooked to perfection!! We got boiled crawfish and they we AMAZING! They had a lot of flavor but they didn’t make your nose run everywhere. my husband got the fried catfish with crawfish étouffée (my husband is super picky about his étouffér and he loved it) The staff were all super friendly and it was overall a good environment! we will definitely make a weekly visit here! 10/10 recommend!!!

After eating here 3 times this will be my last. The steak was always editable, over cooked but editable. The drinks were always great until today. Today, drinks sent back 3 times no one could get it right. Not even when I asked what her specialty drink was. That was still a disaster. So I played it safe with vodka and cranberry because who can mess that up? For our main entrée, I ordered a spud and my friend ordered the chicken pasta. We also had Dr Pepper and steak bites. The steak bites and Dr Pepper were good so gold star for that! The pasta…. Chicken was frozen and to top it off there was black hair in it. That was it. At that point we couldn’t look passed the poor quality. When charged $40 I then asked to talk to the manager. She was so rude I don’t know how she is employed. There was no care about quality but rather asking if we’d like another plate instead of bumping the bill down because I for one was not going to eat my spud while my friend sat there with frozen chicken hair pasta. We tipped the young waitress, paid and left. (Not to mention the spud wasn’t fully dressed) Adding insult to injury Mrs Manager had the audacity to say we were not going to eat for free. First of all, I would’ve loved to have eaten more than just the shared appetizer. Second of all, no one was trying to get anything for free! Save your time and just go the extra mile Great places down town! Or make a trip to the frozen food section at Walmart. Same quality and without a manger who is rude & extremely inconsiderate. Train your staff and for God sake get some hair nets!

1.17.25 I came to this eatery for the first time, and the hamburger po-boy's hamburger patty meat was seasoned to perfection!!! The hamburger patty gets a 💯 A plus!!! The po-boy bread????? Naw, man! The bread was not edible at all. It was nuked, possibly. Either way, it was not "easy-to-tear" and it was extremely chewy (hence the nuked remark). Please, please...change the 🍞 bread or have the staff prepare them more freshly.

I gave Po-boy Express on Siegen a whirl and, boy howdy, it was my inaugural visit! The shrimp po-boy was a shellfish spectacle and the bread was so soft, it should come with a warning label. The fries were delightful, but I prefer mine crisper, like a freshly laundered 💲20 bill. Time to saddle up for their cheese burger next. Yeehaw!

I visit literally every other day and purchase Burgers which I enjoy! My issue is with the big white guy and the white girl! Customer Service means EVERYTHING to me! Please teach them to say THANK YOU & YOU’RE WELCOME!! This is definitely a pet peeve! & if I request my burger WELL DONE that’s what I expect! The burgers are not ALWAYS well done as the white girl stated previously upon my request. I gave 2 stars for service on behalf of the one Cashier I do deal with that’s very sweet!

Customers praise the friendly service and delicious food with rich flavors.
My first time to Tap65 and wow, I will not wait to come back! We pre-ordered for their Desi Crawfish today and the flavor blew my mind! The perfect mix of spice and savory. The tap wall was a ton of fun where you pay by the ounce for the beer you pour. There is also a water tap on the wall so water can be refilled at any time. Please don't let Desi crawfish be a one time thing!!

The food here is ok. You will not find authentic Indian food. It is more like an American version of it. However, the staff will make sure you will thoroughly enjoy your visit. This is the restaurant where I have received the best customer service ever. They will take the time to explain the menu to you, and they will make sure you choose the option that you will enjoy the most according to your preferences and needs. I will not be coming back, though. The food is nothing special, and it looks like they are still trying to figure out how to run this place.

It's been a min since I last went. They got new Menu + Management! The menu has reduced & more American bar food style. Had some ramen & not bad 🍜! Just the menu lost most of the Indian touches.

I’m from South Carolina and was looking for a laid back environment to enjoy while I waited for some friends to get off work in Baton Rouge. I found Tap65 online and decided to try it. The staff was so welcoming and showed us all the in’s and out’s of the new menu. The wings were absolutely amazing! I’ve been to tap rooms before, but never one that had an option for creating your own flight; that was very neat. Great experience overall!

WARNING: THIS IS NO LONGER AN INDIAN RESTAURANT. Tap 65 has a new owner, and they have completely redone the menu. It's now overpriced and uninspired. The decor is the same, and my service was great, but the menu was disappointing. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were very tasty, and the Holy Trinity Hen. It's so named because it's served over 3 sides: black butter beans, green beans, and summer squash... but they were missing the green beans and squash, and we weren't warned until the food was served. New menu hiccups are understandable, and they discounted the order, but they literally only have 6 entrees on the new menu! The hen's breast was dry but it had a nice crispy skin... very small for the menu price, but what other meat I could find was flavorful. The beans were over-salted, and that's saying something for us, we like salty food. Lastly, several of the taps were unfilled. I'll post the new menu, but here's one of the new "gems": The Not-a-gumbo. "Wild" shrimp (note that menus are supposed to state whether shrimp are imported), Harissa tomato sauce, okra, "cheese", toasted bread, avocado. I applaud them for knowing that isn't a gumbo, but it sounds like it's not food either. Bottom line, this new owner bought a unique destination restaurant and turned it into a generic blah. The only reason we even ate was because we had a Groupon-type deal. I loved the old restaurant and only needed the deal to come out of my way. The new place might be good for someone who wants to sample a bunch of types of alcohol, but that's about it.

I went for my birthday on Saturday. Food is always great whenever I go. Service this time with the first waitress was horrible, we had to request a new one. Thankful that her superb service made up for the first waitress who seemed rushed & rude. The wait was pretty long but the food made up for it.

Service at the bar was horrible. Came in by myself at night, sat at the bar. Bartender/server refused to look at me, ask if I wanted a menu, water, food, etc. she was standing next to me for some time and walked back and forth near me repeatedly. This went on for 10-15 min. Finally another person came up and she was very nice and helped me. She was attentive as she had time for when clearly my spot was supposed to be handled by the first person who continued to ignore me the 45 min or so I was there. I was in from out of town for my masters graduation and was dressed nicely, friendly, I always tip more than 20%, etc. I never give a thought to the color of skin where I live, but apparently being a senior white female was a big issue for this one server. Luckily I will never be back. I get that there is a lot of history in this area, but I never was a part of any of it and I’m sorry for all the wrong doings of all the people that came before us. However, If you are in the service industry, you should be color blind.

Please make it a little brighter the lights are so dim it makes it hard to see the menu. Hire experienced staff please, if your waitress gets overwhelmed maybe it's time to get in another line of work. Orders were mixed up...it was a lot going on. Most of the people had already ordered their food, so I'm not sure what happened but anyway, everyone in our party did get a very good discount. But I definitely will not be back.

Sure it was a Saturday, 755ish. Wait time 35-45min. Waited 5 minutes got sat, "dope!".... Waited about 10 mins before our waiter came, ordered drinks and was told bread was baking, it'll be out soon. Drinks took about 15 mins for my kid and I. At which point we ordered our meals, kids steak bites medium rare with fries, ribeye rare and for the life of me, can't remember my side(there's reasons why). Bread took about another 20 mins to get to our table. And 45 mins mins after ordering our main meals, they came out. Kids steaks bites, spot on, little man loved them.... RIBEYE MEDIUM WELL! Well at this point I just sip on my soda, let littleman finish, roughly 15-20ish minutes and didn't see the waiter not once, found the manager, explained my displeasure (this is why they get 3 stars, because this man made it EZ for us). Rest assured he informed me that a Ribeye could come out kicking and screaming in just a few minutes, to which I said I completely get it but I'm just ready to pay for my kids meal and our drinks and he said no problem let me box up your kids leftovers and asked if I'd still like to keep the steak. I told him no thank you, I won't take what I didn't order or pay for. And he made quick of it and then proceeded to discount the entire ordered, to which I say, Thank you! Good sir, I honestly was just ready to leave and you made the ending service smooth.

We stopped by for dinner after viewing the Nutcracker, and to start, the host was not the friendliest. We mentioned we had a party of 8, and she stated she would have to get the manager to seat us. I didn’t mind talking to the manager, but we had to talk to three other employees before the manager was finally notified to accommodate us. We were seated together, but we mentioned we didn’t have to sit together to prevent disrupting logistics. The waitress took the beverage order, and later returned to take the food order. The order was a bit delayed, but we received everything except for an order of wings. By the time the wings were delivered to the table, we were all done eating. The manager did come and remove the wings from the order, which we did thank him for as he did not have to do it. Other than that, the food was okay. There were several items they were not offered during our visit, so that limited the selection of food we had to choose from. I would recommend more training for the staff because communication is key, and it was lacked during our visit.

Ill be very honest, I have never really liked the food here but i keep trying to like it... but the fact that they had a mocktail menu was a huge plus!!! We came and drank and ate for the finale of love island!! One of the girls there went out of her way to put it on and that was so nice of her I really appreciated it!! The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful!! I do think they need to care for their plants more, pruning whats dead and falling off to make the scene look more green and alive, but im just extra!! Other than that, great vibes here and a great place to hang out!!

Been wanting to visit this place for a long time finally had the opportunity and mane was I….. disappointed. Besides the water ordered an old fashion mediocre must is say no identity at all. Started with the boudin balls as an appetizer ( well orderd an appetizer which came out with the rest of our order . Bummer! Wife ordered the chicken sandwich with the side of grits. The first bite of chicken sandwich she says it had no flavor . I ordered the sausage biscuit with (honey butter!) and a side of potatoes. Wife did not like the potatoes she mentioned they are dry! Hmm I thought they were pretty good myself had a lil smoky flavor to them . As you can see my biscuit was super dry. I called the waiter over to ask about the SMOKED honey butter , oh I’m sorry we are out of the smoked honey butter ! So here’s a flew slices of lard. Omg a completer horrible experience. Oh almost forgot the boudin balls are amazing came out piping hot a ten in my book ! And the grits were are delicious . The boudin balls and the grits saved the day . Phewww. Complete bummer did we order the wrong things or what. Please explain the long lines.

The bartenders were incredible and very knowledgeable. The music carried the vibe of the earthly environment perfectly and made me feel like I was living in a garden paradise. Truly a place like no other in the greater Baton Rouge area and I have been praising this establishment’s atmosphere for years. The only issue I had was the lack of food options that are suitable for a clientele base that takes their health into account. The drinks, environment, service, and location are awesome but I wish the culinary options included a more plant based audience without forcing us to eat hummus (like EVERY other place) or a leafy green salad (YAWN). Less fried, more grilled, please! Overall amazing experience except the food options.

I came in alone and sat down quietly before anyone else at the bar. Two ladies were working behind the bar and both awkwardly ignored me and only acknowledged the men who entered in DIRECTLY behind me. It was the strangest thing because it was intentional- they deliberately avoided eye contact. I was left seated alone with no acknowledgment. I expected at least a “hi, one moment” or something decent considering I came in alone at 10:50 a.m. The place opens at 10:30. Instead, they ignored me and addressed the guests who came in and sat down after me. Customer service is terrible, so i hope the food is worth it. will not be coming back and will not be recommending this place to anyone. most awkward solo birthday brunch with the weirdest people i have ever experienced.

Fantastic store! I recently discovered Chantilly cakes (I know, I’m sheltered!) and this store has the best by far! I compared it to the more popular Whole Foods Berry Chantilly cake and there really was no comparison. I tried Oak Point Chantilly cake first, and lawdy have mercy on me, it was like a cloud of heaven in my mouth! I am not an huge cake fan as they are usually too sweet for me but boy I am glad I tried this! This quickly became my new favorite dessert! After a while, I thought I would try the Whole Foods Chantilly cake and boy it was a huge letdown! Super dry and didn’t make the angels sing like Oak Points version did. And of course the king cakes are the very best around too! Also, this store has the best liquor selection too! My husband really likes the sushi too! Overall, I excellent store and staff!

Diners can indulge in platters of crispy fried catfish, succulent butterflied shrimp, and fresh oysters alongside hearty steaks and classic Cajun dishes like etouffee and bisque. A standout dessert is their homemade bread pudding drizzled with rum sauce, providing the perfect sweet finish to any meal.
What a treat! For the restaurant having a super busy night, everything was great. Our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was on another level. Everything we tried was excellent!

Had a business lunch meal with 5 and everything we had was amazing. The fried artichoke and picante oysters both really good. I had the shrimp poboy and it was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The location is kind of tucked away behind a gas station but spacious inside. check it out!

Went for lunch and was not disappointed! 1/2 dozen oysters were fresh, clean and good size. I had shrimp Poboy with cup of seafood Gumbo that was flavorful with just the right amount of spices. Sister had blackened Catfish with a seafood creme sauce and grilled vegetables. Delicious! Portions were perfect, price was reasonable and service was outstanding. Will definitely return!

I LOVED the spinach dip! The pita chips took it to another level! I really enjoyed the oysters and being able to try all the different options chargrilled that they offer!! All of them were good! I didn't get Bienville because I already had spinach dip but I would imagine they are just as good. There was live music in the back and the front part of the restaurant was still quiet enough enjoy a nice meal. The service was good and the prices were as you'd expect. Nothing crazy. My husband enjoyed the catfish and shrimp as well as the sweet potato fries. Good for a nice dinner. Portion sizes were adequate. We finished all our food but we were definitely full because of the spinach dip!

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but it has been falling off over the years. Decided to give them a try and was definitely disappointed. The charbroiled oysters tasted like they were baked. That was a big disappointment for me because it's the main reason why I went. We got the Garlic and cheese along with the Nola which is a barbecue flavor. They did not taste like they have in the past. If you looking for good oysters... This place isn't it. The fried shrimp platter and the stuffed shrimp was OK. It took a long time for our food to come out. I assume they were short staffed, but there were not very many customers in there so can't figure out what was taking so long. Over all I rated it a 2 because other than the oysters, my food was decent. Also because I spent over $100 for me and my family and it definitely was not worth it. Probably won't be going back. This is only my personal opinion compared to visiting this place several times in the past 8 years.

We had the best lunch ever! To start off, we ordered the spinach artichoke dip with fresh warm pita chips. It was so delicious! Side salads were cold and fresh! Ordered the New Orleans style BBQ shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes, Fried half shell seafood platter with seafood gumbo, coleslaw, and fries, Asiago Chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled veggies, and a Kids Grilled cheese with fries. All these plates were a 10/10. Very delicious and tasty. All made from scratch. Then for dessert we didn't what to choose from and ordered the pecan bread pudding with lots of praline sauce that had just come out of the oven freshly made, a raspberry cheesecake, and a lava cake with lots of whipped cream. All the food was great. You can really taste the freshness in each bite. Even their sweet tea with fresh lemon was awesome. We had the best waitress ever, Mindy. She gave us the best 100% service ever. Highly recommend the Half Shell. Make sure to stop by and say to Mindy the Gonzalez family from South Texas sent you all.

We went for lunch. My wife's food fried seafood platter was good to go. My chargrilled oysters were supper small and took forever to come out. My wife food had come out and she was almost done with her platter before I got my super small oysters that were not hot. I ordered a seafood platter to go and it came packaged and bagged to go and was over cooked. All of the food was almost burnt. Not a very good experience for $100.

Food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant. The live band sounded great! Our server was very sweet and attentive. If I am ever in this area again, I will be stopping by for another dish on the menu!

George's Restaurants is a beloved neighborhood spot known for its great sandwiches and thin fried catfish. The chicken-fried steak sandwich is also a hit, although some wish the patty was larger. The French fries have improved over time, and there are occasional live music events or trivia contests on the patio. While the entrance can be confusing and the exterior could use remodeling, the friendly staff and fantastic food make it worth visiting.
My experience at George's Restaurant was fantastic! We had the roast beef po'boy and the shrimp po'boy, both of which were absolutely delicious. The onion rings and sweet potato fries were the perfect sides—crispy and flavorful. The atmosphere really feels like a step back in time, which adds to the charm of the place. We're excited to come back and try the daily specials. Every bite was a treat, and I can't wait to visit again. Highly recommend!

Dear George, What kind of muffuletta is this that you served me? Have you ever in your life looked at the tradition of this beloved sandwich? Why on earth is there artichoke salad on it? Literally, the olive salad is 90% artichokes. Who toast the bread before allowing the olive salad and olive oil to soak in the bread? Swiss cheese, ham, and salami does not make a muffuletta. You must not be from around here. Im gonna pray for you and recommend you change the name of this sandwich because it is not a muffuletta.

First Time Visted!! Big menu. Food was very Hot and good. I try chicken fried steak sandwich with fresh veg. Very good cooks in the kitchen..

I got a BBQ poboy and it was pretty disappointing. Meat was tough, bread was tough. The fries weren't great either. I remembered it being so much better! But my boyfriends burger was delicious.
Alyssa D — Google review
It’s not the prettiest, but the food is great! Very relaxed environment. The setup is, you walk to the bar/order area and place your order. You can wait for them to bring it, or walk up and get it. This is more of a get it yourself type restaurant, ketchup, mustard, napkins, etc are on center isle.
Philip — Google review
Meh. The food was average. The service is basically non-existent. No one informed us when we walked in that we had to walk over to the bar to order. We sat and waited for a good 20 minutes when we finally were able to get a bus boy's attention & he let us know. There was 1 lady handling the whole restaurant. She yelled our name when our food was up and we had to help ourselves. The atmosphere is old, outdated and dirty looking. There's even an old cigarette dispensing machine still on display 🤨 There's too many decent places to eat in Baton Rouge to have to endure this experience. The prices are high for the small portions (with no sides included). Save your money and time and skip this place.

As a lifelong patron of George's, we have wondered how long it would take for this location to go down the tubes after the previous owner's passing. Well , we won't be back. We ordered a to go order , the guy who took phone order did NOT know that they served a "combo po-boy", no clue what we were asking for. Food sat in window for 10 minutes after my husband paid and he had to ask if that was his order. Cheeseburger looked like a Wendy's single and the George's club was sloppy and there were a total of 10 French fries in the box. Entire restaurant floor was sticky and the bathroom was a wreck. $28 is cheap for a good lesson ! So sad that a Baton Rouge institution is being run into the ground.

MJ's café, located in Mid-City, is a haven for those who appreciate a vegetarian-friendly menu without sacrificing taste. While not exclusively catering to vegetarians, this cozy spot holds chickpeas, mushrooms, lentils, leafy greens and other natural ingredients in high regard. The daily soups offered here are particularly noteworthy, especially those featuring butternut squash. Served in tall coffee mugs that encourage hearty sips, these soups are sure to satisfy.
What a great experience! I had the lemonade with hibiscus which was refreshing. The hummus appetizer was fresh and had a homemade flavor profile. Not just some jar stuff. The pita was properly toasted and had an airy chew. I had the quesadilla and got the grilled onion add on which I highly recommend Morgan ? was an excellent server! Great service !! There was something for everyone! Support local and check this place out!

Tried MJ's cafe for the first time today. The place is a vibe. Beautifully painted from the outside with colorful vegetables that look inviting and refreshing are sprawled across the large picture windows at the front of the building. The sign outside is faded and we almost missed it driving by twice. Parking is around back. The back entrance sports several pots of lovely purple flowers. A brighter, more colorful sign invites you into the restaurant. A faded, albeit, still cute photo op of butterfly wings is right outside the back entrance. Inside is spacious and bright, funky and chill all at once. Oddly calming. We scooped up a table and we're immediately and cheerfully greeted by an employee. For lunch, I opted to try the cauliflower soup. The soups are du jour, and I neglected to ask if it was made with vegan mayo, and it did come with a sauce. They very politely exchanged it for me. The soup was warm and comforting. Next time, I will ask for no parmesean extra extra red pepper flakes as they just made the soup pop with a burst of spicy flavor. The hot sauce really rounded it out. A nice and comforting cup of yummy goodness. I also tried the avocado toast with coconut bacon and pickled onions. Absolutely scrumptious. The coconut bacon didn't taste very smokey but was light and crisp and enjoyable. I didn't care for the oil drizzled on the plate, but the rest of it was amazing. Best part was the sweet serenade from a kitchen full of employees milling about and enjoying life, the universe and everything. Cheerful and uplifting environment. I recommend everyone (even meat eaters like me!) to pop in. They will absolutely surprise you!

MJ'S café 5162 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806 Guess what? I'm a huge fan of vegan food! It's so healthy and flavorful! I didn't get to order much, but I'm going back to try everything else. 1. Hummus Platter. V/GF Mj's homemade hummus, cucumbers, and warm pita. Gluten-free when served with crackers. 2. The French. VEG Apples, local pepper jelly, greens, and your choice of goat cheese, vegan feta on toasted sourdough, or panini-style with Provolone. (Choice of soup: roasted squash soup) 3. Mocha Almond Chocolate, coffee, and toasted almonds in an oat + brown sugar dough. 4. We'd been here a couple years ago but it was for breakfast and I'm not really a breakfast fan so back then I wasn't as blown away as I was today for lunch. The food was amazing and caters to those w/ dietary restrictions. Not only are the portions plentiful and relatively cheap for the quantity/quality...the service is great and the space is casual but definitely not "hole in the wall." A stop in Baton Rouge will not be complete without eating here @ least once.

Cute little spot with vegan and vegetarian options. I've enjoyed everything that I've tried. I usually do soups and salads, but the wraps are good as well!

The definition of a GEM 💎 I had never been to Baton Rouge before so looked up where to get a vegan lunch and was steered to MJ's, and I'm so glad I was. The ambience: PRESH; the food: FRESH; the service: THE BESHT. Seriously, next time I come through I will be rushing here for lunch. My friend and I split a cauliflower wrap and the banh mi special and loved them both. It's so great to get a delicious vegan meal that also feels healthy. Thank you MJ's! ♥️

Husband and I are at the beginning of a lifestyle change, and we’ve committed to going all in with a plant-based diet. As part of our journey, we’ve started exploring new places to eat, and we’re delighted to have discovered this gem during our Friday lunch date. The food here is fantastic: fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Each visit has been a treat, and we’ve returned several times already. Not once have we been disappointed. If you’re plant-based or just curious, we highly recommend giving this place a try. It has been a delicious part of our new chapter.

Great concept, although I ordered the vegan torta what I got was a pita wrap with Mexican ingredients. It was delicious but not what I expected. The kale salad was not dressed, I found a pool under giant pieces of kale with stems. the toppings were very good— carrot bacon especially. The place was nice but because they were understaffed not as clean as it could be. The service was the best part. The blue and pink bathrooms were charming.

Istrouma Eatery and Brewery is a unique destination that offers a full day of experiences, from savoring craft beers to enjoying delicious shareable bites. Located on a working farm with farm animals and an upcoming drive-in movie theater, this brewery provides a laid-back and family-friendly atmosphere. The menu features new items like Pimento cheese dip and fried mushrooms, while the outdoor grounds offer plenty of activities for children.
I had read about this place in a magazine dedicated to Louisiana, and I am so glad I finally took the opportunity to visit. The brussel sprouts were amazing! I think they are addicting. The mushroom pizza was very good. The brownie a la mode was the best. The only thing was that there were no prices were listed on the menu. Google maps led me to a dead end road on a narrow road that was difficult to get out of. You walk in, order at a counter and seat yourself. No reusable utensils.
Andrea F — Google review
My family & I visited Istrouma Brewery recently and had a great experience! The staff of friendly and gave good suggestions for drinks and bites. The atmosphere is top tier with plenty for the kids to do both inside and outside the main building. I would recommend this brewery to out of town guests as it does a fantastic job representing Baton Rouge Louisiana!

LOVED this place! We got a flight of beers and they were great! The lady at the counter was super sweet and made us a combo drink with the Golden Retriever beer and a pineapple jalapeño syrup that was absolutely delicious. We got the brussel sprouts and they were good but I would've preferred them a tad crispier personally. Wish I took more pictures of the inside bc the decor was adorable! I loved the vintage farm aesthetic and all of the animals, can't wait to come back again!
Sahana P — Google review
If you are looking for a kid and dog friendly place to spend an afternoon, this is it! There are animals to see and pet. They have a lot of choices for beer, my personal favorite is the golden retriever. There is a playground area outback as well as a screened in porch sitting area. They have lemonade for the kiddos as well as dippin dots, juice and pizza. They also have outdoor games like big checkers and cornhole. Most of the time they face live music too!
Whitney C — Google review
Great atmosphere, okay food. Advertised open mic night and cuddle time on Thursdays, so we drove 30 minutes for it. When we asked about it they said they only do it in the fall/winter. Website should be updated regularly to reflect events. They even have page to sign up for Parents Night Out which sounds great, but that event took place in 2023. Great potential here but poorly managed.
Samantha F — Google review
What a great find! Loved the name and had good ratings so we drove a few miles south of Baton Rouge… so worth it! Very dog friendly! Nice selection of beer but in this heat I stuck to the light crisp side (which means I’ll have to come back and dive into the dark side). My new favorite brewery!
Time2Geaux — Google review
Very cool and eclectic place with a variety of indoor/outdoor seating. Very laidback vibe that is very kid-friendly. The pizza was great… very creative combination of ingredients. We had the Beaucoup- Scratch red sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, fresh mozzarella. olives, red onion, and Brussels sprouts with a light drizzle of hot sauce. 😎👍 Good beer and homemade root beer for the kids. Counter service with “food-runners”. The day we went, the bar was closed, so all drinks had to be ordered in the line for food creating a rather long wait.
Bill C — Google review
Omg this place is a hidden gem! They have great beers, amazingly delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere. The queso is warm and the perfect texture. The tacos are amazing, I would give them a best taco award. It's a great place to relax and bring your kids. They have outdoor games. They have really nice trailer bathroom, that are very clean. They also sell a Cajun spice that we love and put on everything!

Nestled in the heart of Baton Rouge, Calandro's Supermarket is a beloved local gem that has become synonymous with king cakes. Originally known as the Plee-zing Food Store, this vibrant bakery and deli boasts an impressive selection of over 50 unique flavors. From indulgent options like the Who Dat—featuring peanut butter, chocolate, and cinnamon—to the decadent Touchdown filled with Nutella and Bavarian cream, there's something to satisfy every sweet tooth.
Y’all. I just moved to Baton Rouge less than a year ago and let me say I LOVE this grocery store. It’s smaller so it’s a bit more expensive that larger chains, but they carry so many local and specialty items. I found crumpets and other British items o never knew I could find here! Check them out.

We stopped in to pick up a few things while we were in Baton Rouge to participate in the USBC Open. We found a wide variety of products in every department. Lots of unique brands we normally don't see where we're from. Prices were reasonable and the staff was helpful and friendly.

This is one of two locations of this almost historic local supermarket. They usually have a large stock of fresh produce, huge collection of alcoholic beverages, meat, and fresh seafood, as well as baked goods. There are plenty of gumbo and jambalaya mix brands to choose from. Regular items are a bit overpriced.
Debdeep B — Google review
Meat selection is quite good, and the other items thruout the store are well worth the visit...people on budgets, you can shop the sale items and not be disappointed...by the way this store has my favorite sausage brand, Savioie's!!! For local shopping its worth every penny to me!!! Staff is friendly, i am a bit unorthodox for certain class of people, but i pay them no mind, ive been them, lol!!!!
