Nature & Wildlife Areas
Nestled just south of the museum, BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is a haven for nature enthusiasts. This expansive facility was established in 1997 to preserve the sprawling swamp and now features live animal exhibits, mineral displays, and photo exhibits showcasing the park's diverse flora and fauna. Visitors can explore scenic swamps, wetlands, and forests teeming with wildlife such as alligators, armadillos, otters, snakes, turtles, and more.
This is a great area to go for a walk. We enjoyed it and may only complain that they didn’t have longer trails. A great shady walk in the swamp. So many species of birds! We saw turtles, rabbits, squirrels and then in the nature center saw snakes and so on. There was a nice picnic pavilion and benches along the walk ways. There is a little gift shop and clean restrooms.
Beth R — Google review
I truly enjoyed my nature walk and seeing the animals inside the museum. It’s good to know the only animals roaming around are squirrels, birds, lizards and rabbits that I saw in my walk. It was very peaceful
Tonya C — Google review
Nice trails, very well maintained and spacious. When you park, walk down the trail that has a sign that says conservation area. You will follow a board walk to the building and that’s where the admission fee can be taken care of. It’s 3 bucks for adults. And they have a few reptiles in there. They also have bird feeders and nest boxes set up near or right across from benches for photographers. I liked that a lot. Great place to take your family for a hike. I prefer more secluded off the beaten path hikes myself, but I’d come back here.
Sevenn M — Google review
It is a beautiful place to walk and relax with the birds singing and if you are lucky you can see some other animals that live there 😍 you can feed the turtles and they have a visitor center where you can admire some snakes, I loved this place.
Evolet M — Google review
I had a great time connecting back to nature here. The scenery was very beautiful and clean. It was peaceful and its always a pleasure to hear the sounds of nature.
Elietta M — Google review
We did the $5 tour as a homeschool field trip. Definitely worth the money. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the grounds are beautiful
Clair B — Google review
BREC believes they can close a swamp, lol! WRONG! You can't close outside! That's just silly! Closing it would make it then become "inside" simultaneously making it no longer "outside" and the attempt would only prove to be successful erasing the part of outside from existence. But enough of all that, look at my stick bug friend and his spider buddy!
Colin ( — Google review
Nice family nature walk through the swamp. Was nice to see the wildlife inside the centre.. got to see a baby alligator and a cotton mouth snake. While walking around the swamp we only got glimpse of rabbits and squirrels. Maybe it was the time of year but we will definitely be back and visit again next time we come to Louisiana

Art museum
Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) is a museum complex that offers a diverse range of experiences for visitors. The museum features kids' science exhibits, a planetarium, and galleries showcasing the history of art. One of its highlights is the new interactive gallery called The Seed, which provides hands-on activities for children. Additionally, the Pennington Planetarium offers various shows throughout the day, including '3-2-1 Liftoff!' and 'Supermassive Black Holes.'
SO COOL!!!! They had plenty of Egyptian artifacts to look at and learn about. They had an interactive science area with crafts and activities. The Planetarium area had an amazing movie section where yey screen different educational films
Katherine C — Google review
We decided to give this a shot since entry was free for veterans. We were pleasantly surprised. We got to watch a planetarium show on mummies and my kids (5&10) were enthralled with the mummy exhibit and my youngest cannot stop talking about how she got to see a “real life mummy”. We also really enjoyed the kids play area and are now on the hunt for a magnetic marble run wall like they had. I had to peel my son away from it when it was time to go.
Lauralee E — Google review
I had such an incredible time at the art and science museum! 🧪🎨 There was so much to see and learn, I could have spent all day there. 🤩 It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. The museum offered so many interactive displays, making it a fun and engaging experience for all ages. Just a heads up, parking is easy to find on the street, but it is metered. Don't forget to pay!
Alfredo O — Google review
I was surprised by how nice the museum was. The number of ancient Egyptian artifacts was stunning and there is even an actual mummy on display. Furthermore, the movie about Egyptian burial practices was both entertaining and informative. We loved it!
George O — Google review
Really cool museum! We brought our 13 month old and one month old and it definitely helped with beating the Louisiana heat! There’s a planetarium that has short movies on the hour. We watched one about space and another about mummies. Both of which were engaging for not only the adults but even our 13 month old was intrigued. Military/Veterans/Fiest responders & family can enjoy for free which is a big plus in my book!
Matt — Google review
We got to explore this museum on the first Sunday of the month and it was Marvelous. I do recommend to get there early to get free parking and it wouldn't be full. Around 3 in the afternoon it got super full but we finished everything around 2-3 hours and we got to see the planetarium shows. The service was perfect, they welcomed us in and were super patient with our questions and they listened.
Yelile T — Google review
We had a great time here with the whole family. My little one LOVED the Sesame Street planetarium show and everyone loved the children’s section. We are looking forward to visiting again when the renovations are done. And I hope the museum will figure out a way to make ticket prices accessible to all!
Rachel S — Google review
Was looking to kill a little time and hoping to learn more about the city and it's historical past. The museum is a converted train station right on the river. I asked the staff at the check in desk for their recommendation on the best way to see the museum and any must sees and they basically just shrugged their shoulders and could not have been less interested in my questions. They handed me a map which did not detail what any of the exhibits were aside from the Egypt one, but was literally just a map of the building; not much help at all. I wandered around and enjoyed the exhibits but there didn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason for what was in each room; there was no cohesion. The planetarium offered a show each hour and while I didn't have an opportunity to take a show in, the attendant at the entrance of the planetarium was very informative and enthusiastic! Next time I will definitely partake. Overall, not a bad value for $15, especially if you're looking to kill a little bit of time (like I was 😉).

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo, established in 1970, is a popular destination for families and animal enthusiasts. The zoo houses over 2,000 animals, birds, and reptiles from around the world. Visitors can explore a wide range of exhibits and enclosures featuring fierce tigers, gentle giraffes, alligators, rhinos, jaguars, big cats, rhinos, fish, otters and more. The zoo offers playgrounds and picnic spots for relaxation.
While the summer might change this, it was so peaceful walking around. Not a lot of people, plenty of leisurely pacing and space. So cool to see (and hear!) the peacocks and peahens. The giraffe is finally out and about. Unfortunately the Flamingo Cafe water fountains weren't working, but we brought our own so plan ahead if you want free water. Otherwise it's a little costly ($4 a bottle.) Also, the playground has a roped off section. Hopefully they are able to fix that area. The family membership is paid by just 3 visits for us (2 adults, three kids) so if you plan on going, get the membership! Also, there are park perks if you go often enough. It's a small zoo, but worth it just for the nature and getting out of the house. The hippos (Spencer and Ginger) were my kids' favorite.
Victoria — Google review
Fantastic zoo!! Traveling from Texas and been to our fair share of zoos. This is amazing, their enclosures for the animals are outstanding. I love all the scenery and the staff was very kind! Highly recommend a visit!
Diamond K — Google review
I love how they have certain animals such as peacocks, and armadillos just free roaming, I've never seen that at a zoo. They also have a rare rabbit I've never seen, I was hoping to see a full grown alligator, which is an icon of Louisiana. But that's okay because I feel like the tiger exhibit overshadowed the missing alligator. The way they have it set up, it's the next best thing of being up and close and personal with a tiger.
Chris A — Google review
The zoo was nice and the walkways were pretty clean. The landscaping in the parking lot and around the zoo definitely needs some attention. They had overgrown grass all over the parking lot and attractions. Overall we had a good experience
Nicholas C — Google review
It was very nice although more animals are needed for viewing. The food was typical of ball park concessions, but it was good. The gift shop was poor, mostly trinkets and junk. No variety of hats, shirts, and coffee cups with actual park animals. As far as the "natural habitat" for the parking lot is concerned, it is terrible... whoever designed it needs to reevaluate their decision. It looks unkempt and ugly.
Joseph B — Google review
My 3 year old went wild with excitement running from animal to animal. It was a lot of fun. The animal variety wasn't extraordinary, but not every zoo can budget being the Audubon or San Diego zoo. Definitely a fun outing for children.
Rhett C — Google review
We love to go to Zoo's. While visiting Baton Rouge this was on our list. The property is very pretty but the lawn areas definitely in need of better taken of!! They needed mowed pretty bad. Felt sorry for the animals due to this. It has potential for sure and yes worth going.
Joanie R — Google review
Great place, great price and the kids has a great time. Wasn't busy at all. Everyone was friendly and a really nice playground just around the corner with a splash pad.

Louisiana's Old State Capitol is a unique museum dedicated to the state's political history. This former statehouse, designed in a Gothic Revival style by architect James Harrison Dakin, resembles a medieval fortress with its towers and stained-glass windows. Although it ceased official government functions in 1932, it now welcomes visitors to explore exhibits such as the multimedia presentation on the ghost of Sarah Morgan, a Civil War-era figure.
The architecture of this building was amazing! They had a movie that is a must-see. It really gave you the history. It's only $2, so it's worth it. They have a room that gives the chronologic dates of the state capital. Very informative! They even have the Merci Train car from France out front. That has its own historical significance. Definitely make this a place to visit.
Traveling N — Google review
We absolutely loved our visit to Louisiana’s Old State Capitol! The building is an architectural masterpiece—every inch packed with incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail. The stained glass dome is truly over the top in the best way, casting colorful light across the ornate interior. We were blown away by the intricate woodwork throughout the space, and even the engraved door hinges stood out as tiny works of art. Some of our favorite features included the grand spiral staircase, the unique exterior pocket doors, and the thoughtfully curated exhibits. Highlights for us were the Hall of Presidents, the beautifully preserved 1861 hand-stitched Confederate “First National Flag,” and the delicate 1850 embroidery on display. It’s not just a building—it’s an experience that celebrates history, design, and storytelling. A must-see if you're in Baton Rouge!
Wanderfish — Google review
Beautifully kept up, so much rich history in this building. I loves that you are able to do a self guided tour and take your time with each exhibit. There were two rooms, however, that seemed like they didn't belong there - the one with children's coloring over the walls was just not really fitting, but I understand why it's there - as an activity for kids to do...and the other with random wedding photos on the walls - my understanding is that they are displaying the wedding that have happened there? I honestly wished that it was opened on Sundays because I wanted to go back to the gift shop and purchased something - as they don't sell any of that stuff online.
Gair B — Google review
We had the BEST time here. Our young kids loved all the children’s areas. The exhibits were so well done and the staff was helpful. Great gift shop as well. It is free and a great use of time!
Kristin M — Google review
We had the pleasure of attending/participating in a lovely wedding. The staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating. It would be wonderful if the groomsmen's waiting area could be more comfortable, and if there were restrooms available upstairs, rather than only on the first floor.
Felicia C — Google review
This was an awesome site. If you are into architecture at all, you'll love taking a tour through this place. The staircase and the atrium ceiling were stunning. We got there late, so we had to kinda skip through it, but feel we got to take most of it in and enjoy it.
Brian D — Google review
So cool, Very small definitely see why they need a new capital. The wood work inside is gothic but very large.. hard to describe Great that it's free!

The USS KIDD Veterans Museum, located along the Mississippi River in downtown Baton Rouge, is a historic World War II destroyer turned museum. Visitors can explore the ship's decks and inner workings to learn about its role in American naval history. The museum features exhibits on naval history, ship models, and memorials honoring fallen heroes. Named after Rear Admiral Isaac C.
Great place to learn a bit of American history and check out some models of ships used in wars throughout American history. The USS Kidd itself is currently in maintenance, but normally, you can take a tour of the ship. It’s supposed to be available for tours again sometime in 2025 (don't remember the exact date).
ShadyHazeGaming — Google review
This museum is very interesting. It features a display of scale model ships, a tribute to soldiers and officers, weapons, and a lot of history. The tour of the museum can be completed in about 45 minutes. Then you can continue your visit on the museum ship, the USS Kidd (DD-661), a Fletcher-class destroyer that was one of the first ships of the United States Navy. The tour inside the ship can take about an hour to an hour and a half, especially if you follow all the signs and take your time to observe the details. It’s an iconic place where you can take great photos, it’s not expensive, and best of all—pets are allowed in both locations.
Karla P — Google review
We enjoyed the USS Kidd Veterans Museum. This is an average sized, two-story museum with lots of displays. We found the Japanese aviator’s flight suit and the remains of the kamikaze plane to be very interesting. There are also a collection of naval uniforms and two fighter jets on display as well as a small gift shop.
Louis E — Google review
Excellent Museum to visit for the whole family. The museum itself has so much to see, but the actual battleship is a sight to behold. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the entire ship from top to bottom. Honestly you could take a few days to just read all of the info all around the ship. Make sure you were pants and sneakers since there will be a lot of walking in tight quarters. The gift shop also has a lot of cool souvenirs that you will enjoy later. Highly recommend this for families.
Sam K — Google review
Small museum, but packed with memorabilia and a lot of information. First off, since the ship was being dry-docked for repairs, there was a discounted price. Second, all the information in all of the cases and next to the pictures is very informative. One thing I did find confusing was is the pirate exhibit, whose name is the same, Kidd, is that a relative of the ome who had the ship(s) named after him? I understand there is a lineage, given that his wife, after his death wanted the pirate flag flown on the ship. Other than that, it's a cute little place packed with information.
Gair B — Google review
Great stop when traveling through Baton Rouge! The staff was so friendly and super helpful. The museum is perfect for any US Military, naval and maritime history buff. The Large model ships were a huge hit with my kiddos. The destroyer was great and my kids just loved exploring it. Beautiful views of the Mississippi. The grounds were very well kept. Fantastic historical experience.
Manda B — Google review
Really cool! Definitely worth you time and my kids are enjoyed it too. You get to walk through the boat and and go up and down and explore. Sitting on the Mississippi River there are amazing views of the river and some bridges. Lots of history here!

History Museums
The LSU Rural Life Museum is a dedicated institution that preserves and showcases the material culture of 18th and 19th-century rural Louisiana. Situated on the Burden Plantation, it features over 30 historic buildings across four sections, offering a fascinating look at pre-industrial Louisiana. Visitors can explore artifacts, exhibits, and farming equipment while learning about the rich history and heritage of the region from friendly docents.
This is absolutely a must-see Museum and grounds for anyone interested in history. Large indoor space displaying an enormous amount of items regarding rural life in Louisiana. Many large displays of carriages and hearses. The outer grounds are acres Aurora buildings barns outhouses homes that were brought onto this museum's property to display a real life example of what rural life living was like. As a senior, the entry fee was $11. Worth every penny. Unfortunately, a simple map layout is all you are given, some sort of guided tour pamphlet or if we wanted to hit the ball out of the park, an audio tour for the areas that you go through. There is no reason that these items should not be available in a museum of this stature.
John M — Google review
Such a fun, chill experience for the family. So much history and culture explained. I would give it 5 stars but many of the structures were locked; I’d have loved to have been able to go in them and look around!
Lauren H — Google review
20/10. 100% recommend. And please at least you need 2 to 3 hrs if you want to see all the amazing things they have. Basically, it's a small fee to get there. But worthed
Denise P — Google review
This is an amazing museum with the best collection of architecture and artifacts from Louisiana that I’ve ever seen. We used the pre-recorded walking tour, which was excellent and we learned a lot of history of the area and what life was like for people over the centuries. The section on both slavery and slaveowners in the museum was thoughtful, respectful and honest, clearly representing what it was like to live in this area at the time. The museum’s commitment to preserving the past is commendable and a great example to others. I was very impressed and would recommend this to anyone interested in the history of Louisiana.
Girlj67 — Google review
It makes you appreciate what we have and the everyday items we use. A great museum with a fantastic collection. The buildings are just from another era altogether. Definitely worth a visit.

Always a nice facility to visit. Nice little museum in the front to wonder through with lots of Louisiana historic artifacts. Numerous events here throughout the year.

Great museum. There is so much history and artifacts to explore. I highly recommended visiting this museum.
J — Google review
Great place to visit. Plan on 2 to 3 hours depending on how much time you take to view everything and information you want to absorb. 4 stars 🌟 because some of the structures did not have much information about the structure. Also it would have been nice if there were labels as to what items and artifacts were and used for that they used inside of the dwellings and around the dwellings. They have a variety of plows , tools, housewares etc that it would have been nice for a label and what each item was used for. Also would have been nice to see these items restored and preserved so the rust doesnt further deteriorate the items. The gift shop is nice and has quite a selection of items. Overall I could see myself wanting to visit again as I found it very interesting and enjoyable.

Capitol Park Museum, located in downtown Baton Rouge, is a state museum that delves into the history, industry, and culture of Louisiana. As part of the Louisiana State Museum system, it offers a wide range of exhibits that go beyond fine art to explore various aspects of Louisiana's rich heritage. Visitors can learn about the origins of famous locals like Louis Armstrong and the traditions surrounding festivals like Mardi Gras.
We just had our daughter's wedding ceremony and reception last Saturday at the museum. What an amazing venue! It was beautiful, both outside and inside. The director, Kelly Lee, was so easy to work with. I would recommend this venue for any of your social needs.

A Cool Break and a Thoughtfully Curated Experience This museum was the perfect size for escaping the heat and humidity for one to two hours while picking up some fascinating history along the way. The layout is intuitive and flows effortlessly from one era, region, and topic to the next. Each exhibit offers just the right amount of information—enough to inform and spark curiosity without overwhelming you with walls of text. The variety of displays ensures there’s something to capture everyone’s interest, from artifacts and multimedia to interactive elements. We were especially drawn to the 1812 eighteen-star flag, the mysterious submarine recovered from Lake Pontchartrain in 1878, the impressive 1877 American Eagle stern carving, Louis Armstrong’s bugle, and the stunning Mardi Gras costume displays. Well worth the price of admission and a great way to spend a couple of hours in Baton Rouge!

Excellent facility, parking is easy, well maintained and beautiful structure and grounds. The permanent Louisiana exhibit is really extensive and well done. We actually went to see the Billy Cannon exhibit and it was a superb experience showcasing his historical rise to fame and positive impact for the state. The staff are very helpful and informed. The gift shop is worth a visit as well. Afterwords it is an easy walk to the Capital and Huey Long’s monument. It’s worth a visit.

Wife and I were in Gonzales for a wedding and decided to spend the morning in Baton Rouge. After checking out the different museums on maps, we decided on the Capitol Park museum, and boy, was it a good choice. We had a great time checking out the exhibits and reading about the history and people of Louisiana. Other reviewers say it is only good for an hour but we spent nearly 3 and still had to rush through some of the exhibits upstairs in order to make the wedding on time.
Steven C — Google review
It was nice to see the Louisiana history. Which was on the 1st and 3rd floor. There was no wait, but that's probably because everybody was at the book festival.
Mr J — Google review
Super nice museum. Interactive, well organized, many videos, nice decor, on two floors. Really impressed by the quality of the exhibits but really disappointed with the absence of French, including in sections on Acadie, Cajuns and Creoles. There is even a survey about French context…which was weird because there is none. We are fully bilingual so not an issue but how can you pretend to be inclusive and respectful for the Acadian culture, and Cajuns and Creoles when everything is in English (also in light of the fact that French was banned from school). A few symbolic signs would have helped a lot. But it is a great museum and it was free on the day we visited.

Nestled atop Knock Knock Hill in Baton Rouge, the Knock Knock Children's Museum is a vibrant haven for families seeking interactive and educational experiences. Spanning an impressive 26,000 square feet, this award-winning museum offers a variety of engaging 'Learning Zones' designed to ignite curiosity and creativity in children. From the whimsical three-story Storybook Climber to the cozy Crawbaby zone tailored for infants and toddlers, every corner invites exploration.
What a great place for the children! There are plenty of activities to do, to play, to create, to imagine: It was truly a wonderful experience for all of our family - The environment is very safe, the staff is so nice, everything is super clean and there is always someone supervising each activity! Special mention to Christina, who was so understanding and kind with our case! Would definitely recommend!

Our kids had the BEST time at the Knock Knock museum! We decided to check it out on a recent trip to Baton Rouge and it did not disappoint! Around every corner there was something new and interesting to do and play with! The workers and volunteers were also pretty nice and welcoming. The kids especially loved the art garden and the construction zone where they drilled and cut their own piece of wood safely. Such a cool place! I know we will be back if we ever visit the area again!

Amazing. So much to do. You could spend an entire day and still have stuff you didn’t do. The kids loved it. When we got to my car. I noticed my battery was dead. So the staff was very kind and Mr. JT had someone cover the front desk so he could jump start my battery with his truck. Will definitely be back.

Grandson had a great time. They have very good interactive exhibits. Employees were visible, knowledgeable and friendly. The backyard area needs as much attention as the inside. There was really no reason to go outside. He loved the excavator, dance studio, pumping gas and driving and putting washer fluid in the engine. He had a blast and so did I. On the way out I purchased some binoculars and they were noticeably cheaply made especially for the $16 price tag.

Our daughter always has fun at the museum. There are plenty of fun toys for them to play with. The staff is friendly. The tickets are a bit pricey.

Great time for kids of all ages. Loads of different areas to enjoy. Easy wheelchair accessible. The carpet is easy to roll wheelchair over & able to manage a wheelchair in most areas, pending how many kids are in the area! We did not go outside. Katie was extremely helpful & knowledgeable.

Traveled two hours for a fun day here only to go into a place that has very small exhibits and also lots of families with unsupervised children. Also if you’re a parent of a biter watch your child and maybe even let others be aware! Ppl say I act as if I’m a first time mom when I finally felt I could let her play in the toddler area and sit down this is what happened 10/04/2025

In the words of my 8 year old: "It was amazing!" Visited while making a quick road trip stop in Baton Rouge and now I wish that we had a museum like this back home. From what I could tell, the cost of a membership would definitely be worth it if you are local. Was a little pricey for a one time visit. Clean. Engaging. Well staffed. Friendly. Mike the Tiger's Habitat is an impressive on-campus enclosure at Louisiana State University, home to the live mascot, Mike the Tiger. The Italianate-style habitat features a manmade pond and lush landscaping, creating a picturesque environment for the majestic Bengal tiger. Visitors can observe Mike as he prowls, plays, and eats while learning about his historical connection to the university through exhibits, photos, and videos.
Wow, I finally made the pilgrimage to see Mike the Tiger. I wish I had it that good. Mike was just relaxing and chilling, getting ready for the game on Saturday when we visited. So, no action shots this visit. Fun, visit. It was nice to finally see him. I lived in LA for 40 years and just never made it before now. They really do spoil him for being a captive wild tiger. That enclosure is HUGE, and the newer tree and comfort rock? The wife and I were joking that we wish we lived (comparatively) soo good!!!
Michael L — Google review
My wife and I stopped by the LSU campus and had a great time checking out Mike the Tiger. His enclosure is huge and really clean—it’s obvious they take great care of him. Mike was being super playful and active, which made it even more fun to watch. We were there for a while just enjoying the sight of him roaming around. If you're ever on campus, definitely swing by to see Mike. It’s a cool experience, and you can tell he’s well taken care of!

No tickets needed. Saw Mike 3 days on our 7 day stay! He is absolutely beautiful!! If you are in the area definitely go see him! Recommend early in the morning at around 8:30am when it's not so hot on him! We got to watch him swim and walk around alot!

I LOVE visiting Mike!! He is usually sleep but I love visiting him either way. When he is active, He sometimes swims to in his pool or walks around his habitat.

I LOVE Mike! Every time I am in Baton Rouge I visit him everyday. His enclosure is well put together and I love the rock that heats in the winter and cools in the summer. His habitat is always clean and he seems to be a well taken care of tiger!

Found out about Mike when we were planning our recent road trip and made sure to stop by here. We were so happy to meet him and he was very active and entertaining at the time. We wish for his well being and happy campus life. As for parking, we parked at a visitor parking across from the habitat and it was flat rate ($5.35) on the day of our visit. We thought we met Mike VI but we learned that he is Mike VII according to the LSU website.

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the rich history of southern Louisiana at Magnolia Mound. This 1700s plantation home showcases restored French Creole architecture and offers guided tours by costumed interpreters. The site is a rare example of vernacular architecture influenced by early French and West Indian settlers, making it a vital part of the community.
If you want to know about history, this is a good place. The tour is super detailed. Loved 100%recommend

Interesting museum from the Plantation Era. It is conveniently located, though the entrance is a little tricky to see from Nicholson Drive. The property is attractive and the buildings well maintained. We had a couple of staff members cover the tour, and both were excellent. The main house is relatively modestly sized. The decor is from the period, but not necessarily from this family. They did a good job of covering the perspective of the enslaved people.
Don L — Google review
This is one of the best plantations in Baton Rouge as it’s big trees, and spacious houses are a true historical landmark in the city of Baton Rouge. I came here for free on the first Sunday of the month, most of the time they have tours that cost money but it’s an overall good experience. If you like history and big houses this is the place for you.

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic experience! The tour guide was amazing and gave us so much detail while still making it enjoyable and fun! It was not busy so we got a personal one on one with our tour guide! The gift shop was also great! I’ve been going to college here for 5 years and never even knew this place excited! It’s definitely worth checking out by yourself or with friends and family! ** Please note that there is a difference between self guided and tour guided!! You can’t enter the home without a tour guide! We chose to go with a tour guide. **

Really good tour!! If you love history like we do, you will love this place.
David W — Google review
I did the self guided tour for the kids & I. It was five dollars per person, you got a map that had markers that showed where everything on the grounds were located. The lady in the gift shop was very welcoming & also gave me some suggestions on other things to do since I told her I wasn't from around here. It's always interesting to me to see our history & to drop a little unknown knowledge on the kids. If you're in the area stop by no reservations needed. Guided tours are every 45 minutes, I believe that's what was stated.
Mendel J — Google review
We visited Magnolia Mound Plantation on a weekend in June, 2023. We decided to take a guided took, because we feel you get so much more out of it. Although we had to wait a bit since they only do the tours on the hour. So we walked around a bit before an took some pictures. Then we gathered with others to take the tour or the house and kitchen. It lasted an hour and was informative. We were able to get an insight into life back then. The tour told us and showed us things we would have missed if we went it alone. We could ask questions and such. I felt it was a good time spent. I would recommend visiting, but definitely take the guided tour. The visitors center has a nice gift shop with actual decent items. The have rest rooms and a model display of the plantation back in the day. The price ran between $9-12 per adult. So it wasn't overly expensive either. And they give you a nice little fan with the map of the plantation on it. So you can stay cool and have a map all in one item. Then take it with you for use later. Such a deal:)
Sponge B — Google review
The place has a great atmosphere. It's a pity that you can't enter the house without a guide. We declined it because our English proficiency is weak. The entrance fee is symbolic, but there aren't many exhibits. The main highlight is the owners' house, which has restricted access

The Old Governor's Mansion, often called Louisiana's White House, is a replica of the actual White House in Washington, D.C. Constructed in 1930 during Governor Long's tenure, it served as the official residence for nine Louisiana governors until 1963. The mansion reopened to the public in 1999 after extensive restoration and showcases furnishings and artifacts from former governors.
This place is both fascinating and gorgeous. It has quite a history that's worth looking up. Every room is as different, colourful and full of character as the characters who inhabited the mansion over the years, including the man who wrote You are My Sunshine. The architecture makes full use of light and interesting spaces including curved walls and the most beautiful living room. I'm not sure it's called a living room, but the large second floor room with the white furniture and red tiles is stunning. And the bathrooms (some of which are being renovated) are really something else!

Very good job of hitting all the historic points of the Old Governor's Mansion. It's a shame that Governor Huey went to prison for knocking down the old one that was originally on this site. The admission is free and you just walk up to the front door and walk right in like you were invited by the governor! The staff will even take you on a short tour not sure if that's every day as we went on a really bad weather day so not many people dropped by. We'll worth the stop though!

Water & Amusement Parks
Dixie Landin' Theme Park, also known as Blue Bayou Water Park, is a thrilling all-ages destination located just a short drive southeast of Baton Rouge. The park offers an array of heart-pounding adventures, including the world's largest water slides such as the 7-story High Water Slide and the 8-story Ragin' Cajun.
Taking my kids and my mom on a mini vacation to start the summer break, and we ended up at this theme park/waterpark. Unfortunately only the theme park part was open, not the water park-which is what we originally came for. However, we had such a great time! The theme park was just as fun , and they did have the splinter ride open which included water so we were able to cool off with that ride. My kids rage from 2-16 and all kids were able to ride multiple rides, they offer a variety of size rides for the little kids too! The employees were so nice and accommodating! Every worker we came in contact with was so very nice and helpful! A little short staffed- which may be because we came right when they opened-but employees were running multiple rides at a time, which i feel like they handled very well! If we walked up to a ride and the operator was at another ride, they were sure to recognize we were waiting and acknowledge we were waiting and to say "we will be right with you"- . No long wait for a ride, and multiple to choose from. My kids already want to go back so we definitely will return!
Taylor C — Google review
My wife and I took our children and grandchildren here for the 4th of July. Wheat early enjoyed it. My wife spent most of her time in the lazy river and the wave pool which she loved. I rode some of the rides with our children and grandchildren. They were a lot of fun! We had hot dogs and hamburgers at one of the cantina's. They were pretty good. I'm sure we will be going back next year.
Chris J — Google review
Really 1.5 stars but that’s no an option. Half the rides work, and extremely overpriced tickets. For a family of 5 it’ll cost about 300$ just to get in. That excluding food lockers and concessions. There are also rumors that the owner is closing the park permanently, but at the time of this post, it is still under debate. The positive things about this park is the rides are fun, some also look 28 years old. But nonetheless, this is a fun theme/water park.
Jayden T — Google review
Great water park, lots to do, fun for all ages. I went opening day this year, credit card machine was down but they got us through! Only recommendation is that they put some cover over the eye bolts sticking out of the ground in the first sled slide area. Food lines could use some assistance.
Matthew G — Google review
We Love our weekly trip to Blue Bayou!!! They are very accommodating and allow us to bring in fruit and veggies for us to have healthy snacks too! They have plenty of places to have lunch at and they staff are very friendly. I do wish that they had more bathrooms at the front of the park but that’s ok. My kid loves the rides and even said that he enjoys them almost as much as Disney rides;) the park is Very clean. The water is clean.
Amanda O — Google review
Pretty big water park. The lazy river is a little too shallow. You can only go around once with the park provided tubes. And you have to ride in/on the tube. No free swimmers. The wave pool was being worked on and closed. It had some nasty brown stuff all in the shallow end and some workers were trying to suck some stuff out of the deep end. That’s kind of a disappointment. We came down from Jackson, MS with a Girl Scout troop. No way to get your group inside until all are there. Seems like you could have some sort of will call to help speed this part along. We read the lemonade was good so we got some. And yes it’s good. Cost 4 tickets (4 dollars). But seems reasonable for park food.
Dave T — Google review
Most of the attractions were close so we got a small discount. The kids part was fun. It sucks you can only go around the lazy river once unless you purchase a floater. Which they were out.

Very green and relaxing place. It is open from dawn till dusk, and the office/gift shop is only open normal hours (like a 9-5). There are turtles in the pond, if you go up to the deck and look over, that will come to you. There are a bunch of interesting trees and a few flowers. It’s very earthy and smells fresh. There are multiple paths in, and not a hard closing time, so if you are concerned just park outside the gate. There are bees in the far back past the hill near magnolia trees, and lots of insects and birds. Check the office when you go, as this place is a venue for people to use and could be closed. Overall, very relaxing.

Blackwater Conservation Area, located on the east bank of the Comite River, was once a gravel mine that has been transformed into a stunning 57.5-acre preserve. Opened to the public in 2002, this rehabilitated site features restored wetlands and native forests with diverse tree species such as oaks, pines, bald cypress, cottonwood, and more.
Another fantastic BREC park. Very well maintained gravel trails that were flat and easy to navigate. Ample places to fish off a personal sized fishing dock (if that’s your thing) or use it as a seat to watch all the bird and insect life surrounding you at this beautiful park. Don’t forget to walk down to the river and dip your toes in the water.

This is the perfect place to walk your pet/have a picnic. You can see a lot of people fishing as you walk around, since Blackwater is near the Comite river. Please be sure to pick-up after yourself! You can find beer bottles/trash near the water, but there are workers that drive around cleaning as much as they can.

Tronell T — Google review
I loved the view and cleaniess but the pier fishing is risky. You may want to bring protection. I heard that there were car burglaries here, amongst other things. Catching fish is not here, they're always sleep or on a date. Not one person caught a fish.
Niki W — Google review
A great pond to walk and fish with bathroom facilities. The trail that goes down to the pod is rocked to make it easy to walk down and sufficient for my bike to handle a little ride. Plenty of piers to go fish off of so you’re not crowded. It looks to be kept up as I didn’t see a lot of trash on the ground which says a lot. Definitely a place to sped a little time to fish or just walk if you’re up to it.
Janos I — Google review
Overall its a nice park. There isn’t a lot of parking but normally it’s not full anyway. there are a few ponds but only one isn’t overgrown. It has spots to fish but not exactly the best fishing since its fished so much, yet the chance is there. The ponds to the south of the grounds are mainly shallow beaver and other wildlife habitats so it is good for a nature walk especially if you go a little off trail in those areas. If you want to catch some fish You may actually fair better fishing the Comite River close to the bridge. And yes you can acess the river by going into the back heading westward on the northern trail. If you take the northern trail westward It will take you all the way to the back of the park to the Comite River. There you can go swimming in the river if you’re into that. It’s not deep and relatively good for younger kids with supervision as long as the River isn’t high. There is a rocky sandy beach to setup at although it can get a little full at times but mostly not too bad. It does change from time to time with more or less beach area. The people are generally nice and keep to themselves but it being public anything can happen so just a heads up. Outside of that its not a bad place but in general do not bring valuables and leave them in your car especially visible for people to see. Thats not just this park but almost everywhere, a little tip for those a little sheltered. If they look in and don’t see anything tempting then they are probably going to move on. So with that enjoy as it is a good place to get some fresh air.

Nestled in the vibrant Shaw Center for the Arts, the LSU Museum of Art is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. This campus museum boasts one of the largest university-affiliated collections in the South, showcasing an impressive array of artworks that span from 17th-century portraits to contemporary masterpieces. With 13,000 square feet divided into fourteen galleries, guests can explore diverse exhibitions featuring American and European paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and photography.
I came on a Saturday to visit the museum, and I am so glad I did. It was not busy at all. The rooms flowed well and I liked all of it. My favorites were the Clementine works as they left an odd aching feeling in my heart. The space station exhibit was nice as well. All of it was well worth seeing. I would recommend to anyone in the area.

The Blue Zoo Aquarium in Baton Rouge is an interactive aquarium filled with different species of animals from all over the world. Kids will love feeding the stingrays and exploring the hands-on environment, while parents can take in the stunning marine life at their leisure. The scuba diving show is also a must-see for any water lover.
Loved it! We went yesterday January 27th! It was just me and my 8 month old and I still feel like it was more than worth it! So many different exhibits and experiences. You can feed the stingray !! How cool! There’s even interactive play rooms for the toddlers! I absolutely loved it! The front desk was very sweet and caring!

Hidden gem! Definitely the most fun I've ever had at an aquarium, and in a fairly small space. We loved petting the stingrays, and letting the fish nibble at our hands!! Brennan was very helpful & knowledgeable of all the animals, as well as the other young lady. Amazing staff. Incredible creatures! I don't know who had more fun - my 2 yr. old son, or my 75 yr old dad - both were in heaven!! Never thought I'd be looking at sea animals in the same spot I bought my first pair of overpriced jeans 25 yrs ago (Abercrombie in the mall)!! Can't wait to go back next time we're in BR!!! Oh and can't forget how cool it was to go into the room with the parakeet birds & feed them!!!

I took my grand daughter to the Blue Zoo this week and it was a great experience. There were so many opportunities to learn, touch and feed. What made this experience absolutely memorable was the staff. All were friendly, kind and knowledgeable. They answered all our questions. Kamryn really stood out. She was amazing. She made sure my grand daughter had the most wonderful and unforgettable time and left with good memories.

It may be small, but we truly had a great time! They have quite a few reptiles which made it even better. The stingrays are truly awesome, they're very friendly and excited for the attention (and snacks). It is quite expensive for how small it is, however, it's important to remember that these are live animals that require care and attention. Most things here responded and came out of hiding to the sound of our voices which really speaks the the amount of care they are given - to me, this makes the price worth it.

I love this park due to the size and location. We like to sit out and watch the kickball games, which are fun. Bring your blankets to enjoy the bigs shade trees. I love the wildlife also. This place is always clean from the parking lot to the walking trails to the restrooms. Stop by and have a little fun. My daughter and her friends (all over the age of 18) just arrived to have a picnic. There is only about 10 of them. They wanted to get together as friends and eat, kick around a soccer ball too. They just arrived and got kicked out of the park. Why is this??? Isn’t this a public park where you are allowed to gather for a couple of hours with friends to have picnic and play?? They are not unruly teenagers and they didn’t even give them grace to share time together. Why don’t you want young adults spending some time outdoors together in a safe area of Baton Rouge??? When I moved to city 4 years ago I didn’t realize parks were off limits. Do better EBR parks, we all pay taxes you keep those areas so let people enjoy them as needed .

BREC, short for the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge, offers a variety of parks and walking trails across the area. These parks are family-friendly with playgrounds, splash pads, and free Wi-Fi available. The organization is praised for its management and maintenance of green spaces like Comite Bike Trails and Bluebonnet Swamp. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities and the presence of law enforcement for safety.

While I love BREC and the parks and have been sending my son to Afterschool Adventures since 2021, things changed recently. A new person took over the program at Antioch Park and has utterly ruined it. Instead of kids getting to burn off some energy after spending an entire day sitting at a desk in school, they are forced to sit at a table and be quite. This should be a time for them to play and socialize and for their minds to get a rest.

MEAN COUNSELORS at ANTIOCH BREC PARK is a thing. the boys told me Tuesday of horrible stories that counselors being mean to kids. my neighbor told me about a fb group that had been saying the same thing for the past 2 weeks regarding their children. children are made fun of until they cry, they had to write lines, and there is a list of bad kids that can't go swimming. I called the main office and recieved a return call from one of the local supervisors. she told me these issues have been dealt with and she couldn't give me information on other children. apparently 3 other mothers from the fb group have called as well. NOTHINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED. I feel that this is the only thing I can do to make the public aware. and a survey is not gonna do it. you are welcome to share this post

If you're searching for an exciting evening activity in Baton Rouge, look no further than Main Event Baton Rouge. This vibrant indoor playground boasts over 100 thrilling games that cater to both kids and adults alike. Whether you’re challenging your family to interactive puzzle games, enjoying a round of bowling, or diving into mixed reality experiences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
We booked our bowling lanes online to celebrate a graduation. I had never been to this location before. However, check in was easy at the front desk. The front desk staff was helpful and courteous. Sabrina went above and beyond to help me set up, answered my questions, and gave additional recommendations for my bowling group. Sabrina introduced me to Clay, who would assist my bowling group with food and drink orders. Clay was extremely patient and with our large group. He brought our orders promptly and communicated estimates of food and drink order progress. My graduation celebration bowling group had a great time and plan to return to this location. Thank you for making our day so special.

The food was amazing . The place was super overpriced though. I asked about the $20 for 20 and was distracted and ended up buying a package instead . If they were really helpful they would have told me to by the day pass . Anyway I spent $240 for four people in 1 and half hours . If I return I will only do promos because that was not worth it to me . Mind you we didn’t even get to bowl for that price the bowl wait was three hours . I would recommend planning your money and day when going here . Also save your money on the alcoholic drinks they are watered down

The venue was large enough in size and had a decent array of games and activities. However, a large percentage of the machines didn't work or were broken to the point that the gaming experience was made impossible. On the other hand, the management is more than willing to compensate you for lost credits and machines are fixed quickly if possible. As for the other experiences, we didn't eat there or bowl so I can't speak on those activities.

Kids loved it and I did not spend what I expected. Its small but plenty, I highly recommend this place because of 2 things 1. I dint spend the whole time looking for my kids lol 2. My kids didn't come looking for me every 5 minutes asking for more money. No one is rich anymore in 2025 so to find a budget place that can over exhaust the kids and give u a small break is a win win. Last thing the staff were great and very helpful!!! Great job and thanks alot.

Disappointing First and Last Visit This was our first visit to the Baton Rouge location — and sadly, it will be our last. We purchased the unlimited armband and game card for 3 kids ($167 total) expecting a fun, full day of activities. Instead, we encountered poor service and multiple closed or broken attractions. At customer service and throughout the facility, several employees were sitting around talking about their schedules rather than assisting guests. Laser tag had no players, yet we still waited over an hour, only to find that half the vests and guns didn’t work once the kids got inside. The ropes/climbing station was closed because no staff were available to operate it. Bowling was the only activity we could enjoy without delay, but even that started with an issue where everyone was given only left shoes. We did not try the food, so I can’t comment on that service. However, for the price we paid, we expected all advertised activities to be staffed, working, and available. This experience was disappointing for both the kids and the adults. I hope management takes steps to address these staffing and maintenance problems so other families don’t leave feeling the same way.

We had a blast before school is back in session so even Nicole and Tim, the managers on duty, had fun with the kids. Nicole even swiped for VR games for them to play on the house. Kimber chose Nicole as her partner. It was a great time had by all.

Our visit to Main Event at the Mall of Louisiana proved to be a fantastic evening filled with diverse activities. Opting for the unlimited bowling play pass, we not only enjoyed the game but also had an unexpectedly satisfying workout. The laser tag game and gravity ropes added an exciting twist to our experience, ensuring a memorable time. The venue caters well to both kids and adults, boasting a kid-friendly atmosphere alongside a designated bar area for adults seeking a more relaxed setting. The variety of food options in the restaurant adds to the overall appeal, although it's advisable to order promptly to manage potential wait times. While our visit on a less busy night resulted in reasonable wait times, it's wise to be cautious on busier evenings. Main Event offers an array of entertaining games for all age groups, making it an ideal venue for families. The two-story laser tag space is particularly noteworthy for large groups, enhancing the overall experience. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, the gravity ropes provide an exhilarating above-ground walking experience. Overall, Main Event at the Mall of Louisiana is a commendable choice for a fun-filled outing catering to the varied preferences of both kids and adults.

Arcade was great but don’t play mini golf. The course was full of water, debris, and the holes were beat up. The turf and the course itself was really run down too. We lost both balls in some of the features before completing the course. Worse, NO refunds.
K.K. G — Google review
Words don't express how dissappointed we were with both the condition of the facility ie golf course, go cart track/go carts not running etc. We had a fond memories of this place when my daughters were growing up . This place is not even 1/20th of what it was just 5 years ago. We should have listened to ourselves when we pulled up and there were no cars in the parking lot in the middle of the week during kids summer vacation. This place should be rolling with kids and discounts should be available in the middle of the week during an obviously unbusy time . The price of 30 per person for two turns on the go cart track..golf..and $10 on tokens(1.75 per game) is def pricy. But that's not the issue. Within a half an hour we were ready to go. The general condition from the batting cages although not working could be mowed and not full of weeds to the go-karts that barely run . We had to call the main number to get someone to come out to monitor the go-karts that again barely ran . The interior of the building was neat and most of the video games did work . You would think at about $100 an hour electrical operational costs , probably more , they would try to bring more customers in to at least cover the Baseline expenses of the building. You can tell whoever owns this or if corporate owned , upper management never visits this place especially during the week. I'm sorry. Unless this place makes a complete management turnaround , don't waste your money here..

Over the years this place has changed a lot. I love coming here but the last time I went with the kiddos. We were told we could not ride the Go Karts because we had open shoes, that has never been an issue before. So ofc my kiddos are mad.. arcade is too expensive. Still got good memories from when I was younger coming here. It’s not the same anymore

My family have been residents of the area for more than 25 years. I have seen this area go from United States Air Force Depot 2 a FEMA trash collection site to the facility that it is now. The Reformation of it over the last few years has been beautiful. Today my youngest grandson and I enjoyed 4 hours at the facility. We only played on the playground equipment, the bike path, and did a little fishing. We did not utilize any of the Interior facilities, but we had a great time. I think it's great that b r e c has provided an area like this for this community. Thank you. Please don't dump all the trash next door anymore. I'm sure we can find another site to do that. Thank you again!

This was a last minute trip due to inclement weather so we were scrapping for field trips. I called around 9 am today to let front office know that we’re coming and if they would let us in. When we arrived the woman in the front was already extremely rude interrogating us with questions when we just need an area for our kids to play in. Do I went inside to discuss with the woman in charge and she did not make things any better. She told us another group was coming and that she couldn’t let us in.

It was a beautiful clear night for star gazing! We were happy that there was just a short wait for the bod telescope:^) The gentleman operating the telescope was very knowledgeable and informative. There were people of all ages and walks of life- share a love for the sky. We were able to borrow some binoculars for stargazing outside. The young man operating the telescope outside was also extremely nice and helpful:^) we loved our beautiful experience. The only slight marr on the experience was as we were leaving we heard shots fired in the distance, a pack of cyotes howling and what appeared to be a police vehicle driving slowly through the parking area with his high beams on ( it is specifically stated on the sign at the entrance to keep your headlights off to keep the star gazing experience nice). It was just weird.

Really Great Place for families and even small children. I went with my daughter, her fiancee and her 6 yr old twins to see the Super Blood Wolf Moon lunar eclipse last night. They had activists for the children as well as large telescopes set up for viewing. They are very informative about any questions you have. To my surprise there were people out with chairs and even blankets and sleeping bags on the ground to watch this event. I would definitely recommend this place. There was ample free parking and fresh hot free coffee. I did purchase a map of the moon for $7.95 and also a Baton Rouge star guide for $17.95 for the children. I'm so glad we got to go to this event!!!

Photos from Christmas 2018 but the area is still shown. We did a church outreach function down there the other day and it was nice out. A little chilly with the wind coming off of the river but the sun was out and it wasn't muddy. A great winter day for Louisiana. The construction seems mostly done down around the Rivercenter...just with there was more bathroom access. We ended up using the Library's facilities up the hill.

I usually love this park. Today was a disappointment. I went to let my 3 children blow off some steam between errands, and the playground was closed. I wish I knew before I went, and that's why I'm posting this. It looks like it could be closed through the summer. They climbed the large spider web and did a little on the swings, but were genuinely disappointed at the lack of equipment and lack of other children.

Ammending my review from 5 stars to 3 as there is now a cut-through on one side of the park funneling a lot of traffic through it now. There are always a lot of cars, travelling much too fast, not heeding pedestrians, kicking up dust from the new unfinished road and making the air smell like exhaust. The kid side of the park is still fine, but avoid the dog park side if you're a walker; it's dangerous and unpleasant now. Update: Whatever traffic cut through that was happening before seems to have stopped. Wonderful place for a morning or evening walk. Plenty of spots for kids to play, there's a nice dog area with spots for small and large dogs. They're working on additional walking paths now.

This park used to be my favorite one, but it’s has literally been under construction for at least four-five months. I only came because at least the splash still worked but now that is closed for maintenance too. Also, the benches are not in shaded areas. So come when it’s cool. Only thing your child can do is the swings and jungle gym.
Queen N — Google review
My dog and I had a wonderful time at the dog park today. It was overcast and breezy which allowed the dogs to really run themselves out with over heating. We also walked around the lake and saw a few nice joggers and a group of kids that loved to pet the dog as we stopped then finished our walk. The park has many amenities like the dog parks (one for big dogs and one for the little ones), excellent tennis courts, basketball court indoors, and MA y pavilions for family events or just a lunch in the park.

Always nice, playground (jungle gym) not available due to a construction project. No dates on signage. The water area is up, trails are nice. They also have events here sometimes, so worth checking BREC's Facebook.

Park
Liberty Lagoon is a seasonal water park located in Baton Rouge, offering a variety of family-friendly features such as slides, water playgrounds, and lounge decks. It's the perfect spot to beat the summer heat and have some fun with your loved ones. The park boasts a large central pool surrounded by numerous attractions for both kids and adults to enjoy. From thrilling rides like the shockwave and bowl slide to play areas and splash pads for the little ones, Liberty Lagoon has something for everyone.
I was worried after seeing a bunch of bad reviews, but my boys and I had a blast. Knowing what to expect helped a lot! Only clear or mesh bags inside, no cash, no outside food or drink except for unopened bottled water, and no leaving the park and coming back in without having to pay again. Concessions are decent quality and reasonably priced. Try to plan to go on a good weather day so you don't risk them shutting down due to storms. The staff was friendly and laid back. The park is clean and well maintained. Great way to spend a few hours with family and friends and can't beat the price!

We drove over 2 hours to go to this water park because Blue bayou is closed until "2026" From my own experience today I would not recommend paying for an entire day here because if the weather turns out bad you will not be allowed re-entry at 3:00 p.m. and you will lose the money you paid for the time between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. And before you go here you may want to bring a clear bag I do not recommend spending $21 on a clear bag that they sell as you can see on my receipt you can get one much cheaper at Walmart or just leave your belongings in your car For the small amount of time that my children were here they enjoyed themselves but we will not be returning For someone that lives local to this business it would be a good place but for someone like myself who lives over 2 hours away it was not worth it

Drove a long distance just for them to continue to say it's oh it's lightning oh somebody use the restroom in the pool they shut down like every 30 minutes this past weekend it was ridiculous we only got to swim for maybe two and a half hours and we paid all day so it was a waste of money not knowing that they take an hour for lunch break and clean up which I don't know what they clean up but maybe the pool but definitely not the bathrooms or anything like that price is expensive. 60$: in the door for five people not including the food and drinks that we spent there easy spent $150 and I only got to swim a couple hours we're going to talk about this Liberty lagoon.

We decided to come here for an outing with family and friends from the WestBank of New Orleans . We get out here theyre closed no sign of reason, NOTHING . Before we came we looked online to see their availability . The time stated 3-7pm we thought that the time was wrong being that we are in summer, tried to call no answer like always so instead of coming in the morning we came around those times. Need to update their availability we don’t live down here.. what a waste of time AND gas

Honestly I used to love this place but now its just turned into a small Blue Bayou. Hard to even get into now and all the restrictions they have now, because people cant go to a water park without shooting someone. But what do I expect from a place in the middle of Baton Rouge. So if you fill like waiting a hour or two to get in , then by all means be my guess. The pool water is going to be greasy as hell and you gonna have people cutting in front of you at the slides. But hey its only 6 bucks.
Randee C — Google review
Do NOT give this place your money. Walked in the gate, haven’t even put a toe in the water, they cancelled the day for weather. Asked for my money back, dawn the manager denied giving such because “the website states there are no refunds” Receipt time. 11:12 Cancel 11:30 No services provided - money stolen Their new policy of 10-2 and 3-7 pay to reenter is a scam. Do not give this place a penny
Sarah L — Google review
This place looks like it would be fun but I wouldn't know I refused to wait in the line that stretched halfway through the parking lot after it reopened at 1500. I don't know who is in charge of the administrative decision but they need to be fired. Trying to purchase tickets online is a joke. Closing at 2 for an hour to give employees a break and clean the park creates the reentry chaos I witnessed. Learn the manage your employees schedules and give tasks throughout their shift.
Adam K — Google review
It was fun for the 30 minutes we did get to play. I spent $40 on tickets just for us to play 30 minutes. We waited an hour to get back in the water and it didn’t rain the whole time we were sitting out. They said thunderstorms were 3 miles away. The kids were devastated they should give us a pass to come back at least.

Greenwood Community Park, situated in Baker, is a picturesque and beginner-friendly destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The park offers boat rentals for easy access to its lakeside expanse, making it convenient for visitors to explore the area without bringing their own watercraft. Additionally, the park features a golf course with a pro shop, tennis courts, fishing opportunities, and a dog park. It serves as a core recreational facility within the BREC park system and fosters community cohesion through informal activities and passive recreation.
The new playground is wonderful. My five year old said it was "the best playground he has ever been to." Not a much shade to be found is my only complaint. There are restrooms and water fountains and a few covered picnic tables.

Everything was nice! I came for my cousin's baby shower. The building we were in had a stage, a huge projector, dressing rooms behind the stage, kitchen, and one side had floor to ceiling windows that opened to a lake with docks. The campus had many nice amenities. I wish we had come closer to the summer , we maybe could have maybe explored more. There also were a lot of ramps , so easily accessible to anyone.

Beautiful park. Some of the “bear” park was still under construction on the day we visited. Lots of playground equipment for kids. While several areas have shade, there could be a few more. The walk around the lake is fun. It is relatively short with lots of vegetation to see.

Came to go fishing and the waterfront is horrifically overgrown. There is no spot to access the water because it is covered in thick plants. It looks like it hasn't been maintained in 5 years. It truly is a shame because I used to fish here all the time. Do better BREC and clean up your pond.

We rented one of the party rooms in 2016 for my daughters baby shower. I could not have been more pleased. It was a beautiful room, the perfect size, and was very inexspencize for the amount of time given. They supplied all the tables and chairs. Played a round of disc golf. The park is beautiful and there are amateur and pro baskets, which was awesome. The tees and baskets are marked well and easy to find using the Udisc app, but the course was super wet and muddy. Also the tees for the next hole, aren't very close to the last hole's basket, which made it feel like you are doing way more walking (in between holes), than actually playing. The course has a good mix of easier holes and more challenging ones, and you definitely feel like you get a work out walking up and down the hilly area. We left after only completing the first 9 holes because my shoes were completely soaked and my legs and pants covered in mud all the way up my calves. Next time I'll wear waterproof boots, so I can finish the course! Also, I wouldn't do this course without a disc retriever, as I got bit several times trying to get my disc out of the bushes and needed it to fish my disc out of the water on hole 1!

The Shaw Center for the Arts is a prominent cultural hub in Baton Rouge, occupying 125,000 square feet in the downtown area. Opened in 2005, it offers a unique venue for weddings with its River Terrace and outdoor sculpture garden terrace on the fourth floor. Overlooking the Mississippi River, this facility hosts international music, dance, and performance acts. It houses the Manship Theater and LSU Museum of Art featuring ancient Chinese sculptures and regional portraits.
We visited the museum store and the museum itself at the Shaw center for the Arts. Both were wonderful! The art is a real tribute to Louisiana and its artists. The format of the museum does the same, with cozy living room furniture placed in the center of almost every room to create a warm, hospitable atmosphere.

My daughter's wedding and reception was on the 4th Floor, River Terrace and it was amazing. The venue assigned a person (how I wish I could remember her name), and she was fantastic. My daughter's needs were met in lightning speed, they definitely know what they are doing. The bridal suite area was perfect for our needs. The seating outside was fantastic and well thought out, as everyone wanted to come see the bride and the suite quickly got a little crowded! The venue itself was fantastic. A quick, strong, rain storm came through, and they were so fast to take matters under control, the reception didn't even miss a beat! A huge thank you to everyone at the venue for making my daughter's night magical!

I would so l easily give this place 5 Stars with one exception. In the Manship Theater there a handful of bad seats. 99% of the rest are great! With the exception of those extremely few bad seats. You can see and hear the performances from various angles and you will not be disappointed. I accept responsibility for the seat I selected, because other seats were available at the time. I chose a place in the balcony, furthest toward the end, closest to the stage. Thinking this would put me at a place where I could watch the performance from a great angle. Unfortunately. There are stage lights that block 1/2 to 2/3rds of the view from that spot. If it weren’t for the stage lights at that particular location, the view would be fantastic. Again, it was my choice. Next time, I’ll simply avoid one any those seats next time. There’s only 4 such seats in the arena. So again, all the rest are great. I’ve been to previous shows there and have been greatly satisfied with the seating. My advice to the Manship Theater is to either remove those 4 seats and just have an open space there. Or perhaps rearrange the stage lights in such a way as to not block the view to the stage from that particular location. With that said. The atmosphere, service, access to seating, staff, bartenders, cleanliness and of course the quality of the shows there are 5 Star all year long. There’s plenty of parking right next door. The facility is also conveniently located near restaurants, shops, lounges as well as the eternally scenic Mississippi River. It’s also directly across from the Watermark Hotel. And nearby other 5 star Hotels. My personal favorite is the Watermark. One of the very best hotels in the South.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Downtown Baton Rouge, the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel is a delightful destination for both gaming enthusiasts and leisure seekers. This charming riverboat casino operates around the clock, inviting guests to indulge in an array of over 750 slot machines and numerous table games, including poker and craps. The hotel boasts more than 280 well-appointed rooms that provide a comfortable retreat after an exciting day on the water.
My friend and I flew here from NYC for a bowling tournament. Being that the place was in construction we knew they’d be issues. First two nights were rough due to inside and outside construction. The staff was nice enough to comp us one night and give us a different room. The staff was nothing short of amazing.
Matt K — Google review
One of the Worst Hotel Experiences – and My First Review Was Deleted I usually don’t write long reviews, but this experience deserves one—especially after my first review mysteriously disappeared. My recent stay at this Baton Rouge property was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve ever had, and at over $200 per night, it was absolutely not worth the cost. We were in town for a bowling event and expected at least a clean, functional hotel. What we got instead was a room that was dirty upon check-in (hair and residue in the toilet), no microwave or fridge, and housekeeping only every 3 days. We had to request towels and essentials ourselves. When I raised these concerns, the manager, Michelle Tilghman, refused to speak with me directly and sent an employee to offer a $20 credit—which felt insulting given the conditions. But the worst part was the valet service. Our truck was badly damaged while in valet’s care. The entire rear passenger door was dented. When I reported it, valet manager Georgia Toomer denied any responsibility and claimed the damage could have been from construction workers nearby. To make matters worse, they said there were no security cameras covering the area. Odd, considering there were signs everywhere saying the property is under 24/7 surveillance. When I asked hotel leadership (Michelle Tilghman and Daniel Hutchinson) for confirmation in writing, they refused. Daniel told me the cameras weren’t working due to construction. The lack of transparency and accountability was incredibly frustrating—especially since the police report indicated the hotel was at fault. What’s even more troubling: two other guests in our group also had valet issues. One had their car bumped, another had major damage to a rental—and once again, no responsibility taken. To top it off, the hotel markets itself as having a large, vibrant casino on-site. This is incredibly misleading. The “casino” is a small trailer-like building in the back lot with only a few tables and slot machines, and limited hours. None of this was disclosed at booking. Between the dirty room, lack of service, valet damage, misleading advertising, and the hotel’s refusal to take responsibility or even communicate properly—it’s clear this property is not being run professionally. I’m still waiting on a full investigation and appropriate compensation. Until then, I’ll continue to share my experience on every platform possible to warn others. Think twice before booking here.

Well this is not a place that I would stay again anytime soon. The entire hotel and casino are under construction, and it is Super inconvenient. The AC dis not work in my room at first. Told me I had to wait to IT to fix it. Came back down to desk 2 hours later and they finally let me change rooms. Put me in the 2nd floor. Room was nice. Beds are very good but the shower is just a terrible design. Only half a shower door and the water goes out to the floor and soaked everything. They only give you 3 towels for 4 people in the room. So was constantly asking for more towels to soak up water and to use. Being on the 2nd floor facing the garden area was pretty but the music that plays all night is super load. It never turns off and woke me up multiple times each night and early morning. When checking out Rhonda was super polite and listened to the issues. She told me to call back and talk to the manager 48 hours later. No manager was on today till 5. Parking is Trrrible. Have to walk about 1/4 miles to get to the parking garage and it is dark and dirty as hell. The casino is stuck in an old walk through area and can not get a free drink when you play. No waiters or bartenders at the bar. No comes to the bar about every 30 minutes and you have to go get your won mix for a drink from the Coke machine on the other side of the casino and bring it back to the bar for the shot.

The bed was comfortable. Lots of pillows. Blanket was kinda thin for my taste. Carpet was clean. It was not all shiny and new but it was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our TV didn't work but after a couple of calls they got it fixed for us. The location is great!! It's decorated beautifully and has a bar there. I felt safe during our stay and there is gated parking. I'd definitely stay again and highly recommend it. Wish we could've checked out the casino. The walls are super thin and I could hear people on the street talking (I was on the 5th floor). Sounds don't bother me much but just FYI.
Abriana E — Google review
Here from Florida and no warning of massive construction going on nor a small depressing temporary casino with no tables and limited hours. Have to walk around the entire building and construction fencing from the parking garage which is a HIKE. Lighting in room is terrible, very dim. Could not be more disappointed and I'm stuck here for 3 more days. May have to lick my wounds and just pay for another room elsewhere. Update: first room had a water leak and was seeping up from the floor. Likely from the HVAC. They moved us rooms. There is no refrigerator or microwave so bring a cooler. TV kept shutting of randomly when changing channels in both rooms. Zero offers of compensation, just "sorry for your luck" after mentioning there was no warning of construction when booking. No food at the hotel. They really push their shuttle to go down to their sister casino which is much nicer.
Kelly L — Google review
No wifi, parking is valet only at $33 per night except if your willing to visit their sketchy casino lot that is completely disconnected from their hotel and requires an even sketchier walk to the hotel. You know nothing of this until you quite literally pull up into a construction zone and wait 20 minutes for just a couple cars to clear out in front of you so you can figure out how and where to check in. When you arrive at the front desk u are greeted with the back of a woman who has just exited into a back room and now you wait alone wondering if your even in the right place. The room itself is spartanish, and very "industrial" but looks more unfinished than design focused. The temp casino is a huge miss on every point. They could have done a much better job communicating all the deficiencies. This lack of communication and offering does not speak well of the ownership or management. If this is the same company who took over the Tropicana lot in Vegas....yikes. 1 star for the big tv and having coffee in the room, yay!
Del C — Google review
Giving this hotel three stars is a bit generous. Primarily it’s for the staff we worked with and the Belle’s potential. When we were there a month ago the place was not up to par; housekeeping was basically nonexistent, no frig or microwave in room, the pillows were terrible, etc. The place really should not have been open although I realize they were attempting the accommodate the bowling teams who were in town.
D K — Google review
Construction noise. The casino is very small. Has zero table games and it closes at like 2am. This is not a place I think I would visit again in the future. The downtown area also has a lot of people wondering at night and the security was minimal.

I had a really high expectations for this botanical Garden especially after visiting the University of Tennessee’s one. Maybe it will improve over the years. Is great for a stroll that is shaded.

The flowers and the trail are beautiful. It is great for people to come visit and the trails are easy to walk. Sadly, its right next to a highway so your entire visit you will hear cars going by. The cool looking rustic village/museum at the back of the property is 10$ to see just the building and you pay extra to walk through the rustic buildings. Great for school field trips but for the average person the cost is not worth it for the museum. Its a beautiful garden with amazing colors.

Burden Museum & Gardens is a 440-acre site featuring botanic gardens, 5 miles of paths, and an open-air history museum showcasing rural life. Despite its proximity to Interstate 10, the complex offers a serene escape from the city with its beautiful botanical gardens and a historic Museum of Rural Life. The trail system winds through woods and includes a stunning swamp boardwalk.
This was a beautiful way to get exercise. We walked all of the trails and saw some beautiful sites. There was not much foot traffic so it was also very peaceful. In addition, the trails are very very well maintained and clear of obstacles.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a beautiful garden! 🌿🌸 The trails are well-kept, the flowers vibrant, and there are plenty of fun photo-op spots 🎨📸. Perfect for families, solo visits, or a casual date. Plenty of parking available 🚗, and it’s conveniently located right off the interstate. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous gardens and grounds! Very calm and the perfect place to escape for an hour or two and reconnect with nature.

The museum displays are informative and I felt worth the price of admission. It's unfortunate that the botanical gardens are so close to highway traffic but the plants and flowers seemed well cared for. There were plenty blooming but I'd like to return at an earlier spring date, which I imagine would be very impressive. Thanks again to the staff member who answered my questions although I had unwittingly entered the admin building rather than a welcome center!

Burden is a fabulous place, with a true family history as colorful as the flowers that grow there. Go alone, take children, friends, relatives or grab a co-worker. Just be sure to visit this heaven on earth acreage, flora & fauna, unique plants brought there by a family member, from another country, decades ago. The care given to this land, is so amazing that it just reels you in, to allow you to feel like you are in another beautiful world, in another time, preserved in history, just for you. You can literally love spending the day. The water, the swans ... the species of flowers, the fab staff. GO GO GO.... YOU MUST EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC Of BURDEN, yourself. Its too beautiful to explain

We really enjoyed driving through the entire facility. The visitor center is a great place for a pit stop. Proud of LSU for sharing this beautiful research facility with the public. Whether you have time for walking the trails and visiting the museums or just a quick visit driving through the gardens, definitely make this a priority for your time in Baton Rouge.

A great place to understand the history of Louisiana, slavery, agriculture and how this country is built on the shoulders of slaves. I cannot unsee what I saw in this museum. Make sure you have enough time to see everything and read the text. I appreciate the fact that despite this cruel history, they have a good and clear demonstration of the past. It's bitter but it should be recognized. I need to go back again to learn more. They have a beautiful hiking trail which is mostly shaded. The garden is pretty and I would love to have a picnic there.

With well-maintained grounds, ample space for playtime, and amenities like dog wash stations and water fountains, it’s an ideal spot to let your furry friend run free. Lovely park for the dogs with some shade. Benches to sit. Small dog area separated from large dog area. Outside of dog areas are picnic tables and play equipment for kiddos. Very nice walking areas as well.

A really well manicured dog park with a dog wash station. The area is beautiful and is worth a stop if you're passing through baton rouge and need to give the pup a break. Sunday morning was relatively slow, allowing plenty of room for the zoomies.

Ugh I hate that I have to revise my 5 star review of this place but after this past Mother’s Day I feel it’s important to share. Around 1:30pm my boyfriend and I parked my car at the dog park and brought my dog inside the play area. We were there for less than a hour. It was sunny and many people were out. When we went to leave we saw my passenger front window had been shattered. My purse was stolen. We weren’t the only ones. The car a space over from mine had their front drivers side window busted and the owners purse was stolen. This was in broad day light. Do not leave anything valuable in your car if you decide to go to this place. I’m sad to even write this because the dog owners and dogs here are wonderful people.

This is such a nice spot. Plenty of room for large dogs to run, a good bit of shade, and well maintained. It’s conveniently located right next to the playground and the restrooms. There’s even a dog wash station outside of the park. We loved it!

While some visitors found the game items and clues to be given too early, others praised the amazing wow factor and the helpfulness of the game master.
Keegan was absolutely the best game master that we have ever had. These rooms are TOP NOTCH and this trip we ended up doing 6 rooms. We have 2 more and will definitely be back to do them soon!!!

Omg!! It was sooo much fun and exciting. My family and myself have never done anything together such as this and we more than loved it and want to do it again. It was exciting that I was the one to figure out the code to unlock the door and get out of the first room. It takes teamwork, critical thinking, and knowledge of solving Riddles and puzzles. I definitely recommend anyone wanting to do something fun with your family to do one of the escape rooms. I promise you won't regret it. And it's worth the price for a lifetime memory you can create with your family. Definitely a 5 star rating

Agent 13 was super challenging and a lot of fun! Our game master, Courtney, went above and beyond to make our experience one to remember. After showing up at 10:15 PM on a weeknight, thinking that we had reserved a room but hadn’t , Courtney was willing to stay late to allow us to play the game. Talk about excellent customer service!

As an escape enthusiast, who has played over 50 games I have a lot to say about this establishment. First things first, the set designs are incredible. They more than make up for the fact that the puzzles can be confusing sometimes. The clue systems can be hit or miss but that didn't impact us much. Secondly and most importantly, the staff here is so nice. We had Devon as our game master for most of our games and out of every escape experience we've ever had, she was by far the best. We also had some games with Aurora who was great as well. The staff alone makes me wish that they had more games we can play. We couldn't talk them into telling us what the new room will be but we are so excited to come back when it's out.

Had the best time. The employees are always so kind and helpful and the rooms are a blast. So much fun! Had Courtney as our game master this last time and she was absolutely incredible! She made the experience even better than anticipated.

This is the best escape room we have done so far. We attempted to do the Asylum but it kicked our butts. The sounds were creepy, giving me chills up and down my spine. The one thing we had an issue with was the voice in the pipe giving clues, she was hard to understand. We will doing this one again.

I booked my daughter’s 4th birthday party here- and I’m so glad I did! Everything went amazing and the party hosts did such a great job! We all had so much fun. I will always recommend a Chuck E Cheese birthday party from here on out.
Rikki M — Google review
I'm from Texas and I cannot believe this is the only Chck E. Cheese around here. My kids have loved CEC everywhere we go. My mom happens to live nearby this one so I'm glad it's not far away but I am saddened other kids don't know about this place. It's always been a fun place for kids and birthday parties. The machines here were mostly up and running except for 1 so that's really good. They have a good mix of stuff for kids up to 4 and then the bigger kids. Most CEC will have more machines for bigger kids so this is great if you do have the small kiddos. After a birthday party if you happen to catch one that day there would be a costumed Chuck that comes out to greet the kiddos which is a welcomed site. Most of the time he would leave after greeting the birthday kid but this one walked around the store to take photos with everyone which was really awesome since I didn't have to hunt him down for a picture. Just that gesture from him there was no way this place deserves anything less than 5 stars. The staff was very helpful and the food for the kids was spectacular. They didn't have cotton candy my daughter was looking for though but she was happy she met her best friend Chuck so that made up for it. Must try this place if you've never been. Buy time instead of tokens per game if you intend on being there for awhile. Itll save you money if you intend on playing games for 30 mins and above but if you plan on stopping and eating often then either buy 20 mins at a time or just pay per game. I usually buy 45 mins at a time but my daughter has slowed down lately and wanna play about 25 mins then buy food. So buy according to what your plans are to save money that way.

I recently brought my son and his grandmother during the week day. It wasn't crowded at all. This Chuckle cheese was extremely clean, employees nice and the cheese pizza was delicious. Lots of games for my 2 year old an I to play. Even though there was only a few kids they still brought Chuck in costume out to greet them. I was honestly surprised, but very happy with the results of our visit! We had a blast!

I havent been to one of these since i was a kid. I didnt know what to expect. Luckily, things have changed and it seemed to be as much fun for the kid as i remember it being. They added some safety measures to make sure you left with the same child you bring it. Sounds funny, but i guess this is the world we live in. They were pretty busy and a couple of the machines failed while we were playing. The team was quick to fix things and keep it moving. The place is setup for kids and adults. We didnt eat there, but food was flying and people seemed to be enjoying it enough. Not a bad way to spend the day when the storms changed our outside plans.

The botanical garden is located within Independence Community Park. It's really small. It literally can take five minutes if you rush through. Its still beautiful nonetheless. When I went there were gorgeous flowers in bloom. Since it didn't take long to tour the gardens, my family headed to the other side of the park so my son could play on the playground. Overall, a nice experience.

Manship Theatre is a 325-seat performing arts venue located in downtown Baton Rouge. The theater hosts a variety of shows including music, dance, and theater performances in a beautiful auditorium with balconies. Additionally, the Gallery at Manship Theatre features rotating exhibitions of local and national artists, while the Jones Walker Foyer focuses on artists from Baton Rouge. It's also a great spot for date nights and offers an intimate setting for enjoying different forms of art and entertainment.
I attended the Glenn Miller Orchestra performance at the theater on February 10, 2025. I grew up listening to my parents Big Band music. The group did not disappoint and the acoustics of the Manship Theater so enhanced this musical experience. It is a small, intimate theater and while we had perfect seats about 6 rows back I really don’t think there would be any undesirable seats in the theater. The parking was a definite downer as they had just installed a new payment system. As we left out and happened to be the first car to attempt to exit the exit gate in the Third Street Parking Garage would not lift. We finally got the Police attendant out of his vehicle and he was able to hold one exit gate up for all to exit.

My daughter Madeline and I had the great pleasure of seeing the 25th Anniversary of Evangeline the Musical in concert at Manship Theater. The performance was outstanding!! We drove in from Magnolia, Texas to see this amazing show. It was absolutely worth it!! I used to show Evangeline to my Louisiana History students at St. Aloysius. I studied the plight of the Acadian people, but I never truly felt passionate about it until I saw Evangeline the Musical. My daughter and I cried through just about the whole show, except of course for the two comic relief songs. Thank you for Praline and Matthew!! There was even a new song added for this Anniversary show. I knew it was new because I've listened to the soundtrack enough to memorize every line!! The singing was superb, the acting outstanding, the costumes were lovely, the orchestra was just wonderful, the director and conductor did a top notch job. I deeply appreciate all of the effort, time and love that went into this outstanding performance. I wish that everyone with Cajun heritage could have the experience of seeing Evangeline live. I look forward to seeing it again and sharing it with more of my family. Because of this musical, I now own a copy of Longfellow's Evangeline that lives on my dresser and I read it often. The Manship Theater is a really beautiful, well run space. I enjoyed the local art upstairs, and what a great location! The seats were comfortable, and we had a great view even though we were rather high in the balcony. You could bring drinks into the theater. That was nice to be able to drink water and have a holder for the cup. I LOVE that the composer and actors came to visit with us after the show. I am so thankful for the actors and orchestra members who came back to preform after 25 years. They sound and look just as fabulous as ever! The new faces and voices were fantastic too! Thank you Paul Taranto and Jamie Wax for creating this outstanding piece of art that honors our Cajun heritage, our faith, our Blessed Mother, and teaches us that love is truly worth the wait. God bless you!! Wow!! I just can't say enough positive things about our experience. Merci! Aimee Lee Guidry Marlborough

VERY dangerous situation for the elderly, or anyone of any considerable size, trying to get to the ONE restroom during a performance. Pitch black, no clear walkway around people. It's a wonder no insurance underwriter has caught on to this yet. BIG liability exposure. Otherwise, sound is good and the bar is great. It's just the flawed design of the place, like trying to shrink a large venue into a small footprint, that makes it a less than stellar venue.

Frenchtown Conservation Area, also known as The Land Between the Rivers, is the largest BREC conservation area in Central. Spanning nearly 500 acres, it is a vital habitat for migratory birds and features diverse ecosystems including bottomland hardwood forests and spruce pine hardwood-flatwood forests. The park offers three miles of beginner-friendly trails that lead to overlooks along the Amite River and provide access to tupelo-cypress sloughs and a river beach.
I really love the railroad trail and the ecosystem out there. It's one of the most beautiful spots in the area in my opinion. Thanks for all that make it such a wonderful spot to see Nature!!
Collin D — Google review
This is hands down one of my favorite local trails especially since it's here in Central. If you take the green wood loop forward and then backward and include the bamboo Trail on one of those trips you can make a perfect 5 mi hiking trip out of it which takes about 2 hours depending on how much you want to explore spur trails in take your time with butt breaks along the way. Highly recommend bringing plenty of water as the tributaries are mostly dried up unless previous rain came through. Don't be afraid of bugs Just make sure to wear hiking pants that are lightweight breathable and water resistant and highly recommend using a sun hoodie so that you can pull the hood up if they start flying around your ears. That and a bottle of Sawyer picardin lotion with 20% is highly recommended on a trail like this during the summer. Spray down your gear with permethrin the night before and the bugs won't even come near you. The only complaint I have is that every time I've gone the little education center appears to be closed which wouldn't be that big a deal except they locked the bathrooms on the ground floor when they're not there. So you better be able to hold it or get comfortable hiking off trail for a little "privacy". Leave no trace!!! There are a few narrow places and there's very mild elevation up and down throughout but nothing that'll get your heart pumping more than running from a horse fly.

This place is a great place to bring your kids and have your own adventure. No admission costs. Humid and a bit hot. No bathroom. I got bitten by a few mosquitoes. Benches scattered around for people to sit. Dogs are not allowed on trails, only service animals are. The walk is easy, no elevation. Didn't see any alligator. Unsure if the big trees growing out of the swamp are mangroves or not but they look cool. Many wild strawberries and blackberries everywhere along the path. Bridges and boardwalks are well maintained. Everything is lush and beautiful looking in the komorebi.

Only giving it 4 stars because it was lacking a gift shop & I really am a sucker for souvenirs - I've been to a lot of natural history museums and this one was definitely the smallest but had an interesting collection nonetheless - took us about 30 minutes to go thru everything - no fee for entrance (at least there was no one at the front & we had the whole place to ourselves!) & all on the first floor

The venue's intimate space has also attracted popular regional acts over the years, making it an essential stop for both local and internationally recognized artists.
Probably the most amazing venue to see music at in the state! The amount of talent that passes through the doors there is astronomical! And it's not only the talent that performs on stage... We went to a show recently at RDLR and the crowd was chockablock full of some of the most talented musicians/singer songwriters in the state! It's truly amazing to have had the opportunity to be around all of that super talent whilst watching super talent on stage! Everyone there is incredibly nice and incredibly friendly. On the positive side, you can come here and enjoy the day. Lots of food options and other vendors, prices are high though. On the BIG negative side is that this is called the BLUES Festival and every year, they just give you a hint of blues. I'm not saying the other bands and singers are bad, but if you call it Blues Festival, people want to hear lots of it, and just a hint of the other music. The 2 stars are for the organizing board.
Maggie C — Google review
Definitely coming here again. A relaxed vibe with a variety of acts. It's downtown and do you're not isolated. Good was great, we had corn dogs, hot dogs and crawfish beignets.
David F — Google review
It was a fun, clean family day. I appreciate the preformers and vendors showing up even with the iffy weather. It was an enjoyable day. I do wish there was a way to stop or prevent those walking through the crowds trying to sell items. The vendors have paid for the "priviledge" to sell. It is not right for these others to take advantage of the unpoliced situation and making those in the crowd uncomfortable.
Beth H — Google review
Great food and music. Not many vendors but a variety of food to choose from. 3 stages of all day music.

Love to take Tanya's classes. She is a wonderful instructor! I really enjoy working with her on projects.

My special needs niece and I signed up for the class and were tardy. Tanya was gracious and understanding. Despite a late start we were able to complete our art projects in time. The classes are small and well organized. Plenty of supplies and great conversation: I plan to utilize her classes for team building exercises.very soon!

I took the Pop Art Your Pet Class. Had a blast with friends. Instructions were easy to follow and I left with a canvas of my beloved Zeus in Pop Art.

Guests can indulge in Southern cuisine at the Stadium Bar and Grill or relax in the luxurious rooms equipped with modern amenities such as plush pillow-top beds and spa-like ensuites.
This place was an absolute gem. We travel quite a bit and have found that really good customer service can be hard to find, but this hotel and casino is top notch. Every staff member we encountered was kind and helpful. Very hospitable, welcoming, and accommodating from valet to check in to the casino and restaurant to housekeeping. The rooms were nice, well-kept, and best of all very clean! The casino was undergoing a bit of reconstruction, but those areas were sectioned off and the rest of the casino was open with good tables, great dealers and lots of machines. We had dinner at 18 Steak and had a beautiful view of the sunset over the Mississippi River. All in all a great place for a little getaway. We will be back!

Love this casino!! A ton of new slots, nice selection of food and drink choices. There are two smoking areas located outside of the main floor. One has tables, the other slots. Beyond the smoking areas are decks with seating overlooking the Mississippi River. Awesome!!

We only went to the concert by Billy Bob Thornton and the boxmasters. But we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves the concert was fantastic the cover group that came on before them there was exceptional and Billy Bob and his group knocked it out of the park. My thanks to L'Auberge for opening their doors to Billy Bob and his group I apologize for not remember the name. We had great seats actually I don't believe there's any bad seat in the house. Looking forward to the next time I'm available to go to one of yalls events.

Dealers and staff were friendly and helpful, especially for someone like me who’s not a high roller. I appreciated the drink service while playing—fast and consistent. The bar area had a nice vibe too, perfect for taking a break between games.
Lance F — Google review
Everything was exactly as supposed to be... except the ESPN bar... they were bad... its an sports bar runned by ppl that really don't care about sports or guests... mbl finals were happening this week and we had to ask them 6 or 7 times for them to change the channels... they could care less about us the guests... would i return? Yes ... but I'll go have dinner outside of their facility... they dont really care...
Andre D — Google review
I will recommend this to anyone and everyone! And, I will be returning. This is first rate customer service, cleanliness and class. Front desk..Ru (spelling?) …was so kind. Thank you for a great experience!
Paula S — Google review
Truck parking ok, at the second roundabout parking lot on the right. The restrooms are spotless, casino is clean and well taken care of. But here's why 2 stars: the Poker floorman does NOT know the rules of poker. When someone bets and other person calls the bettor must show the hand to win the pot, NOT the caller. When the bettor won and the caller folded the bettor requested to see his hand and the dealer flipped it over. Absolutely unacceptable!! The rules of poker can not be altered regardless of house's rules. And the dealer who bragged about being a dealer all over the country for 34+ years didn't know the rules. I will not play here until someone knowledgeable takes charge of the Poker Floor

Clean, mostly non smoking!! Smoking section closed off from the rest of the building. Makes it nice not to smell it every where. Won money, had good time.

It's fairly New. But a good spot to gamble and have drinks. Winning streak was pretty good. But that depends right ? Lol they also have a smoking section towards the outside but still inside. If that makes sense. It's separate rather you like to smoke or not you don't have to go to that side unless you want to. Chicken shack located inside was also delicious

My sister and I went to 1717 to enjoy the N'Tune concert, and it was a great experience. Though we had to wait in line for over an hour, we still had a good time. From what I heard other patrons saying, this is something different that they've implemented to make sure no one takes their reserved tables. I guess this was a growing problem in the past, and this was the most logical response. The food was fab, but I will admit that my sister and I were a bit surprised to learn that there was a limited menu that they used during concerts. We ordered chicken tenders, and they were fresh out the grease! My sis had BBQ covered tenders, and I got the garlic parmesan. Both of our orders were exquisite, though I wish I would have asked about alternative dipping sauces. I'm more than sure that I will go again, just not on a concert night. 😅
Jeralyn S — Google review
The Philly cheesesteak nachos were really good, and the Hennessey Blackberry margarita. The frog legs were crispy and delicious. I didn't really like the shrimp and grits. I think it was the beer infused sauce I didn't like.

Great atmosphere! Friendly & Professional staff. Their promotions are exciting and their entertainment gives the community a variety, but ultimately, it’s a one size fits all! The food options are great & the mixologist that serves the main bar, CJ, is top notch! Thank you for a continuing to provide the best level of service! Cheers!
Alise B — Google review
Normally my experience is great at The Queen. However, my most recent visit was unacceptable. I was having a great evening plying the machines I wanted until this lady kept standing over me watching me play and completely violating my personal space. She is known for hounding men who play and have money as she asks for money all the time. However this night she was drunk and out of control. I contacting security 4 separate times and even got the supervisor involved twice. They never made her leave us alone and she kept coming back. So we politely asked her to stop watching us and she got belligerent and started yelling as she did with the security but this time she pushed me and an altercation ensued. Totally uncalled for and should have been avoided had the security made her leave us alone the first 3 times they were called but they didn’t. So a fight erupted with her at the center. How can anyone feel safe or comfortable spending money trying to have a good time with vultures all around watching and waiting for you to win so they can beg for money!?! People like this should not be allowed in casinos period and security should have done their job before this ever escalated to this point. THE QUEEN gotta do better! Too many other casinos around to entertain this type of riffraff.
Aisha W — Google review
I love the queen it very entertaining. A nine voilence place. And a great atmosphere. The lines be to long on sunday. But that Friday for VIP grift give out time the one line work better than the two lines. We didn't have to wait long the two gentlemen who took care us on Friday didn't miss around. We had a problem in the beginning they took care of it and knock that line down with no problem. I think they should be reward for that. Most time u have three or four females that don't work it that fast. I wish I had asked them for their names.
Ophelia H — Google review
We had a great time. There was a bit of a disturbance between a couple of people. It took a bit too long for the security to get it under control. It was a little concerning, and scary. I feel the people involved should have been removed from the building immediately. We enjoy coming to the Queen, I like it the best here in our area.
