Omoide Yokocho, also known as Memory Lane Alley or Yakitori Alley, is a renowned landmark in Tokyo located just north of Shinjuku station. Once a black market area post-World War II, it has transformed into a bustling alleyway filled with tightly compressed restaurants offering cheap izakaya food and alcoholic drinks. The vibrant atmosphere attracts both locals and tourists seeking to savor its culinary offerings.
Omoide Yokocho, also known as "Memory Lane" or "Piss Alley" (don't worry; that name is no longer applicable), is a cross-section of narrow alleys, populated by multiple small bars, watering holes and restaurants (izakaya), insanely popular with both locals and foreigners, ALWAYS packed to the gills and stuffed with drinkers and diners from all over the world, to the point where the bodies begin to spill over into the street. It's one of the most fun and exciting places in all of Tokyo, which in itself is one of the most fun and exciting places in Japan/the world, so you know you are in for a good time here. Personally, I prefer the even grittier Golden Gai, a half mile or so away, but your mileage may vary. Omoide Yokocho is ostensibly (arguably) the more accessible, tourist-friendly of the two, but that is not always the case. Be aware; some bars have an otoshi (cover charge in the form of a small appetizer, that'll cost you a couple bucks), and others may be "cash only", "members only", or "Japanese only", depending on how deep into the weeds you delve; don't be offended, there's a good reason for the exclusivity. Whatever you do, when you come here: be brave; be polite; try something new. Do all of these things, and "Memory Lane" is sure to be a place you will never forget!

★★★★★ Omoide Yokocho, Shinjuku, Tokyo If you’re in Tokyo, go here. Tourist or not, this is the real thing. People call it a tourist trap. It’s not. You walk through narrow smoky alleys filled with tiny yakitori stalls. Each one has its own rhythm, its own smell, its own story. You sit shoulder to shoulder with strangers, surrounded by the sound of sizzling skewers and laughter. The chef who cooked for us was incredible. He kept pouring us shots of sake, making us taste different dishes from his grill — every single one was amazing. There was no menu, no prices, just trust. He cooked what he wanted, and we ate everything. We sat next to locals who didn’t speak English, and we didn’t speak Japanese. But we laughed, clinked glasses, and somehow understood each other. It was one of those moments that make travel special. If you ever find this place, and you see the chef from these photos, go there. He deserves every star. Come at night. Come hungry. Come thirsty. This is Tokyo at its best.
Efri D — Google review
Omoide Yokocho Memory Lane is a wonderful experience. As soon as you walk down the alley, the smell of freshly cooked yakitori on charcoal just draws you in. The only problem is finding a restaurant with a spare seat. Most of the restaurants are very small and only have seating for 6-10 people. We are a party of 4 so it was quite difficult fining a restaurant with free seats, but we were lucky enough to find one eventually. The food was really nice and we had a great time. It was a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend a visit.
Andrew C — Google review
What can I say. This alley has an enchanting charm about it. When you walk down it on any given night, it will be filled with patrons from all over the world enjoying great food, cold beer, and the sounds of laughter fill the air, along with the aroma of all of the restaurants working their magic. This place is just incredible. I loved every second of it. You don’t know “vibe” until you visit Omoide Yokocho.
Michael S — Google review
Really small alley. Literally holes in the wall with eateries right next to each other. Patrons eating and sitting elbow to elbow, obviously locals. We came here on a weekday around 10am. A few establishments were open. The food smelled realllyyyy good. If you are the adventurous type, dont mind eating what the locals do then this is worth seeing.
Jay B — Google review
The memory lane is a crowded, tiny and narrow alley full of small bars and restaurants. It does not give privacy but seemed very cozy and fun. I did not try the food here but I did walk through the alley.
Chhanda B — Google review
It was cool and cute and all, but it is really just small and so many people. It feels kinda silly just walking there taking pictures with the other tourists when it is just that small and crowded. Honestly, overrated and not worth it to go there just to see it
Xoxo J — Google review
Good experience and met some tourist along the way from Netherlands, France and US. It was a great food but prepare to spend a little bit more as it is a bit touristy trap area. Great atmosphere. Definitely try one for experience unless you love skewers so much.

Hanazono Shrine, located in the heart of Shinjuku, is a compact Edo-period Shinto shrine dedicated to Inari Okami, the god of trade and business success. The grounds feature smaller shrines devoted to various deities, including a kitsune fox shrine with a tunnel of torii gates and the Geino Asama Shrine for performers.
This is a beautiful temple in Shinjuku. Little quieter and not as busy. We wanted to visit a temple at night, just to see one a little different. Very few people were here at 9 pm, but they were still working, where you buy your prayers to hang. My wife has been collecting stamps, so she was able to get her booked stamp, and then they wrote some characters in it as well. There was a play going on in a tent next to it, that sounded like a lot of fun.
Anthony C — Google review
Went to the shrine today for the antique market. About 35 stalls and lots to look at. Some over priced items but was nice to walk around. There are a few amulets to purchase and you can get goshuins too. Not busy and some traditional artworks for purchase. A short walk from Shinjuku Station and easy to find. Worth a Sunday afternoon visit.
Emily D — Google review
Quiet shrine. Especially at night. Under renovation. Not so successful when trying to take the perfect picture due to the many pipes sticking from everywhere. Lots of locals visit it to pray and throw a coin (I guess for good luck). Better to visit after dark (well lit) as no crowds are likely there (though a huge group of foreigners entered the place I was leaving at 18.30h…)
Lora O — Google review
Hanazono Shrine stands quietly amidst the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku in Tokyo. Despite being nestled between towering skyscrapers, the moment you pass through the torii gate, the atmosphere changes. As you walk along the path, the rustling of the trees echoes in the stillness, and the hurried pace of city life seems to slow down. This shrine, which has existed since the Edo period, enshrines the gods of business prosperity and performing arts, and has been cherished by many people. During the autumn Tori-no-ichi market, the light of lanterns envelops the shrine grounds, filled with lively shouts and smiles. A place to forget the busyness of everyday life and calm the mind—Hanazono Shrine is a quiet space for prayer that breathes in the heart of the city. On a November night, the grounds of Hanazono Shrine are bathed in the red light of lanterns. It's the beginning of the Tori-no-ichi market. Many Japanese-style items are displayed and sold. It's a great place to experience Japanese culture.
YURI U — Google review
A nice shrine to see, but nothing that really stands out compared to others in Tokyo. It’s on the smaller side and doesn’t have amulet stands or shrine stamp books like you’ll find at more iconic spots. Still, it’s a pleasant place to visit if you’re nearby — worth about 15 minutes of your time.
Dan G — Google review
Hanazono is a Shinto shrine in the Shinjuku area, built in the seventeenth century. Dedicated to Inari, who is the god of fertility and worldly success. Apparently it is a favourite among businessmen. It was quite empty when I visited and I managed to get a goshuin without any issue.
Chhanda B — Google review
Hanazono Shrine 花園神社, Hanazono Jinja in Japanese, is a large, ancient Shinto shrine in the very heart of Tokyo's Shinjuku district. It is considered the most important shrine of Shinjuku, the shrine guarding the area, its inhabitants, merchants, craftsmen and artists. Though surrounded by modern buildings, the shrine itself is quiet and serene. Its main building, the honden, stands on top of a stone staircase, overlooking the small wooded park belonging to the shrine. It is quiet and serene on most days of the year. However, the shrine features several large festivals during the course of the year, on those days expect big crowds on the grounds. The shrine is also very popular during the sakura cherry blossom season in late March / early April due to its many cherry trees. In the evening, the shrine is colorfully lit up and invites a romantic stroll. The origins of the shrine are unknown. It is known, however, that the shrine already existed in 1590, when Ieyasu Tokugawa took over Edo, today's Tokyo. Soon after, in 1603, Ieyasu established Edo as the capital of Japan, ushering in the Edo Era (1603-1868). At that time, the shrine was at a slightly different location, however, on the grounds now occupied by the Isetan Department Store. Located only a few minutes on foot from Shinjuku Station on the Yamanote Line and the Kabukicho entertainment district, the shrine is somewhat hidden behind buildings lining Yasukuni Dori Avenue. Take the East Exit of Shinjuku Station, walk towards Kabukicho. On Yasukuni Avenue, turn right and walk towards Shinjuku 2-chome (Tokyo's gay quarter). After about a two minute walk, you will see a small alley to your left, framed by a stone torii gate. It is located between a Family Mart convenience store and the Tsukiji Sushiko sushi restaurant. Enter the tree-lined alley. It will lead you right into the center of Hanazono Shrine. Alternatively, enter the shrine through its big red torii gate from Meiji Dori Avenue.
Doug H — Google review
Hanazono Shrine was a spontaneous stop during our trip, but it ended up being one of the most memorable Shinto shrines we visited 💯 Tucked just a few steps away from the bustling Kabukicho area, the shrine had such a unique charm. We happened to visit on a Saturday and got lucky. There was a lively flea market along the path leading to the shrine, with vendors selling everything from traditional street food like takoyaki and candied fruits to handmade ceramics and vintage clothing. The atmosphere was vibrant and full of energy. To our surprise, a traditional performance, similar to Noh theatre, was taking place when we were there. We watched for a while, then wandered over to a small booth near the main area where they sold omamori and goshuin-cho. I picked up my very first goshuin-cho for just 1,500 yen, plus another 500 yen for the stamp. Felt truly lucky to have stumbled upon this hidden gem.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a former estate turned 144-acre park, was originally created as a recreational garden for the Imperial family. It is an Important Cultural Property and features three types of gardens: English, French, and Japanese. Throughout the year, the park hosts various events such as photography lessons, chrysanthemum flower exhibitions, and traditional Japanese art performances.
This garden is incredibly spacious and beautiful — perfect for picnics, hanging out with friends, or just relaxing. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, with plenty of spots to enjoy the scenery. I really appreciated how convenient it was too, with lots of vending machines available throughout. The highlight for me was the Starbucks inside the garden — not only is the coffee great, but the view from there is absolutely a must-try experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to spend a peaceful and enjoyable time outdoors!
Abdelrahman A — Google review
Visiting Shinjuku Gyoen Park was an absolute delight! Right in the heart of Tokyo, this park feels like a peaceful escape from the busy city. The gardens are beautifully maintained, with a perfect mix of traditional Japanese design, French elegance, and English landscapes, offering something unique at every turn. Walking through the park was incredibly relaxing – from the tranquil ponds and tea houses to the wide open lawns and colorful seasonal flowers. Each season brings its own charm, whether it’s the cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant autumn leaves, or the calm beauty of winter. The park is very clean, spacious, and easy to explore, making it ideal for a quiet stroll, a picnic, or just enjoying nature. It’s also a wonderful spot for photography, with so many breathtaking views. Shinjuku Gyoen is truly a hidden oasis in Tokyo – serene, beautiful, and inspiring. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

Wonderful, peaceful gardens to visit both for tourists and locals! The ponds, statuary, trees, and flowers make you feel you are in a faraway paradise. There is a convenient Information Center near the entrance, and many clean restrooms. Fees are very reasonable including 50% discount for Senior Citizens and disabilities and students. Beautiful backdrops for photo opportunities.

A beautiful and peaceful escape in the middle of Tokyo. Shinjuku Gyoen is incredibly clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The park has lovely Japanese gardens, open lawns, and a stunning greenhouse. Perfect for relaxing walks, picnics, and photography. I went during ___ (spring/autumn/etc.), and the scenery was breathtaking — especially the cherry blossoms! Very easy to access from Shinjuku-Gyoenmae Station. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy nature in the city.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is truly an oasis amid the bustle of Shinjuku. We visited on a lightly drizzling day and spent about an hour exploring the grounds. Although we managed to see most of the main areas in that time, we easily could have spent another hour or two strolling through the beautifully maintained landscapes. The gardens feature a variety of scenic areas, along with several pleasant cafés and refreshment spots, making it a relaxing place to pause and enjoy the surroundings. The facilities and amenities were exceptionally clean and well maintained, consistent with Japan’s high standards. Admission was 500 yen per adult, and the gardens are open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Overall, Shinjuku Gyoen offers a peaceful retreat from the city and is well worth a visit for anyone spending time in Tokyo.
Robert G — Google review
This beautiful garden is right in the middle of the busy Shinjuku area. Entry cost is five hundred yen and can be accessed via the ic card. It is a combination of landscaped gardens, beautiful ponds, Japanese traditional garden and even a forest. You can spend a lot of time here exploring. Would definitely recommend.
Chhanda B — Google review
Amazing place to visit and chill, especially in autumn when the weather is sub 20 degrees. Beautifully crafted landscaping and really appreciated the breeze and silence. Always wanted to see the pavilion featured in Garden of Words and it certainly didn't disappoint! Just note they're very strict on the closing time and will go around to chase people out so don't overstay your welcome!

Idilic, very peaceful and spotless clean. I usually don’t like going to Starbucks when outside of the US, prefer to try local coffee shops, but in Japan it is different. I liked Starbucks in the park very much. It is cozy and they serve tasty pastry.

Shinjuku Golden Gai is a lively and popular district in Tokyo, known for its narrow and winding alleys filled with cozy taverns. This hidden gem offers a nostalgic atmosphere, reminiscent of Japan's post-war era, where small bars that can only accommodate a few patrons at a time provide an intimate setting for drinks with friends. While the area has gained popularity among international visitors, it still retains its local charm and may have some establishments with 'Locals Only' signs.
It’s a very atmospheric and enjoyable place to have a few drinks and chat with others. There are many bars — some great, some not so much — so it’s worth exploring a bit to find the right spot. Even if you don’t plan to go inside anywhere, it’s still worth visiting and walking around to soak in the vibe. Definitely a nighttime activity.
Tamas K — Google review
Came here during daytime to check out these one-of-a-kind famous narrow alleys lined with cozy tiny bars and restaurants. We picked one which had a cute Fatty Zoo Cat stuffed doll at door front. Lady staff was super friendly, we had a few drinks and really enjoyed the intimate atmosphere. It was not busy when we went but night scene would totally be different vibe. Worth a visit.
Cat H — Google review
Golden-Gai is such an iconic spot in Tokyo. I’ve been here so many times and always find a new little micro bar to try – it’s fun and full of atmosphere. Yes, there are a lot of tourists these days, but locals still come too. Most places have a service charge, which I think is totally fair. These are tiny bars run by individuals, and if we want places like this to survive, we should support them. It’s a special little corner of Tokyo that really deserves it.
Anne L — Google review
Plan to visit to experience the Golden Gai ? If you are a fan of tight spaces and pocket size bars, this is the place for you. Some bars even have a no-cover charge welcome signs to attract customers. There's a bar for everyone - American style, Asian style, Hard Rock Metal Heads, Laid back style, etc. etc. Walkable distance from Shinjuku Metro Station, this area is a part of the Tokyo night life. Pretty safe area this.
Satyen N — Google review
Everything is pretty full and you can expect to pay a cover charge for most spots. Was looking forward to doing a couple bars here, as I remember this from my last Tokyo trip, but ended up disappointed. Likely because I knew better this time. There are way better spots to find little bars or izakayas. Come here to check it out, but don’t think this is the best spot for little bars. We found a cool bar, met some locals and tourists, had some drinks with the bartender, etc. but we have done that and more/better in other areas. This review is not reflective of the bar we went to though, I left a separate review for that. Great time.
A&L — Google review
Golden Gai is in Shinjuku, a collection of tiny bars with small seating. Each is unique, according to the “master” or “mama” who runs it. This is a traditional for over half a century. They are more than just a place to drink and socialize. Many bars have a cover charge.
Doug H — Google review
We loved golden gai ans came back a few times during our stay in Tokyo! Such a cool area and there are apparently over 300 different bars. A lot have a cover charge or take cash only so make sure to check !

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, a stunning architectural marvel designed by Kenzo Tange, is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the vibrant city of Tokyo. This iconic complex features two impressive towers, each offering free observatories on their 45th floors that provide breathtaking panoramic views of Shinjuku's skyline and beyond. Recently, the buildings have gained even more attention due to the TOKYO Night & Light event, showcasing the world's largest permanent projection mapping display on their exterior.
Both North and South Observatory are at the 45th storey. The lift entrance is only at Building No. 1, ground floor. The lift takes 55 seconds to reach the top. Mount Fuji will be visible from both towers on a clear day. South tower has a grand piano open to public for performance from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.
Alvin — Google review
Incredible nightly video shows with music on the building. Has a fantastic observation deck on the top of both buildings. On the ground floor there is a small mall with two of the best visitors information centers in Tokyo. Visit during the daytime to learn about Tokyo and overlook the city then visit at night to see show and a very different view from the observation deck.
Adam Z — Google review
Not a lot of tourists know about this attraction, which is completely free!! The observatory decks are as good as the other towers out there. The wait to go up is minimal. The fact that there is a public piano for performances makes it more mesmerizing. There is a small cafe on the top, so you can easily chill while watching the view or the performers. The night shows are also worth watching. There are different songs and projections. The building is quite close to a station.
Roberto C — Google review
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 An unforgettable (and free!) Tokyo experience! Hard to believe that such a professional and well-managed observatory is completely free to visit! The panoramic views of Tokyo are truly breathtaking—even though I couldn’t catch Mt. Fuji due to cloudy weather, the experience was still remarkable. What made the atmosphere even more special was the public piano—each performer played so beautifully, and the queue was organized very smoothly. Small details like a free water fountain and reasonably priced vending machines made the visit even more comfortable. If you’re visiting Tokyo, this is a must-see spot! Can’t recommend it enough.
Lawrence L — Google review
It's an amazing free viewing platform! South entrance has always short lines. Come for stunning sunset views. And dont forget to catch the light show, starting from 19.30... This summer they have a nice grassy area to chill while watching.
Carinchen R — Google review
Unlike incorrectly recommended Shinjuku L Sun Tower, the Metropolitan Government building has a free observation deck on the 45th floor. You can view almost every direction from there. The have gifts and refreshments for sale too. Highly worth the visit IMHO.
Davin S — Google review
One of the best observatories in Tokyo, with two separate observatory decks, a north one and a south one. Both have amazing views of the city at just the right height. The south observatory even has a piano designed by Yayoi Kusama free for your playing (five minute limit). Best of all, both decks are free!

One of the best observation decks in Tokyo! We went up to the North Observatory only, and the view was absolutely amazing — and it’s free! We’re glad we came. Honestly, the North deck alone is enough; no need to visit both. Highly recommended!

Shinjuku Chuo Park is a verdant oasis in the heart of Tokyo, offering a serene escape with its lush greenery, walking paths, and recreational facilities. The park features a playground and a small pool that provides relief during the summer months. Visitors can also enjoy various sports activities within the park's expansive grounds. Surrounded by notable attractions, the park is situated near the Metropolitan Government Building and Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.
A perfect place for kids ~ There are not only local kids but also foreign kids all around the park. It’s spacious with lots of facilities for kids. If they are hungry, you can buy them crepes. A reminder for parents, don’t buy coffee there … it’s terribly bland …

Very large beautiful green space in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo with many walking paths that wind you through the park. Massive trees provide shade for some of the paths while a few areas with sun provide flowers that brighten up the park. A quiet peaceful place amongst the busy city life that is Tokyo.

Excellent park! Close to hotels, great for runners, basketball players, and kids- with a nice playground area. Lots of decent bathrooms in several (6) areas of the park!

Park surrounded by incredibly tall buildings. Feels very surreal at times. The park itself is nice, lots of green and a ton of space to just chill and relax for a bit.

So many flowers! It was spring in this visit. There were also quite a lot of people. Many of them are doing hanami and having a picnic in one area. There’s juts people anywhere throughout the park, basically. It was a nice visit. Pretty crowded but you’ll be able to find your own spot.

A nice and walkable park which offers visitors diversity in the landscape and things to see as compared to other parks which only has the one main attraction. Reminds me a lot of Madison Square Park in New York. Plus there is a nearby shrine that you can go to see and get a goshuin!

A nice place to have a relaxing walk family walk. There are coffee places(etc:Starbucks), you could sit down and let your kids run around at the green field. On another side, about 10mins short walk, a playground that my kid had spent 1.30hr playing slides and chasing with other local kids.

Museums
Nestled on the 42nd floor of a stunning skyscraper, SOMPO Museum of Art showcases an impressive collection of paintings by renowned Japanese and European artists. Originally known as the Seiji Togo Memorial Museum, it was renamed when it moved to its current location in Shinjuku. The museum is home to about 630 works, including pieces by Van Gogh and Seiji Togo.
This stylish museum is famous for the Sunflower of Gogh and it's located in the modern building near Shinjuku station. They always have elegant exhibitions
Yuko — Google review
This is one of the most relaxing places in Tokyo, and for some reason not as famous as other art galleries despite the fact that SOMPO Museum has one of the Gogh’s Sunflowers in their permanent collection - this piece is exhibited always. They speciality is modern and contemporary Japanese paintings (XIX to XX century: Foujita, Seiji Togo - their works are always displayed) and western (mainly French from my experience) art. The Museum has strict „no talking” and „no photos” policy and is great place, when you need some peace and wanna run away from Shinjuku crowds. I usualy try to visit on weekdays, but this place is also not crazy crowded on weekends. The cherry on the cake is the new building - designed by TAISEI DESIGN place was opened in 2020. Fully recommended if you would like to see some less known yet still amazing gallery. Their website is in Japanese and English so you can always check out what’s on.
Katarzyna A — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A hidden gem for art lovers in Shinjuku Located just steps from Shinjuku Station, the SOMPO Museum of Art offers a peaceful and well-curated escape from the city's energetic pace. The gallery itself is compact and modern, but thoughtfully designed — making the most of its space to highlight both Western masterpieces and rotating exhibitions. The permanent highlight is clearly Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”, which is beautifully preserved and presented with excellent lighting and background information in both Japanese and English. Seeing this work in person is a rare and humbling experience. When I visited, the featured temporary exhibition focused on post-impressionist landscapes, with bilingual descriptions that were informative without overwhelming. The museum staff were polite and helpful, and the entire venue was impressively quiet and clean — ideal for reflecting on the art without distractions. 💡 Pro Tips: Buy your ticket online in advance to skip the small queue. Don’t miss the upper floor, where the permanent collection resides. Allow 60–90 minutes to enjoy everything at a relaxed pace. 🎨 Overall, SOMPO Museum of Art is not large, but it is rich in quality and heart. A great stop for anyone looking to inject a bit of calm beauty into their Tokyo itinerary. 📍 SOMPO Museum of Art, Shinjuku #TokyoArt #SOMPO美術館 #VanGoghSunflowers #HiddenGemTokyo #ArtInShinjuku

So glad we made the time to visit this museum! Just a short walk from Shinjuku station, and it gave me a better appreciation for Foujita as an artist (though really, it’s his cats that really got me.) And of course, beholding the Van Gogh sunflowers in person is a joy!

Staff was overwhelmly helpful for a dork like me with a bas grasp on Japanese. The expo I went to had great translations of the art on display with a very sensible layout and calm environment. Spacious, even with a decent crowd around noon. The gift shop had many items to choose from, including many reproductions of the specific art displayed for the expo itself. Would recommend, its a great way to spend a few hours enjoying great art and artists!

Located just a 3-minute walk from bustling Kabukicho in the heart of Shinjuku, this black 4-story building is a must-visit for those seeking an immersive cultural experience. The house was created by a ninja-loving owner to showcase the allure of ninjas.
Fantastic experience, would highly recommend 👌 My 10 year old son absolutely loved it and so did we. Extremely well thought out and unique activity. The ninja guide made it fun and highly entertaining throughout, he really made a big effort to make sure we all enjoyed ourselves. Highlights were definitely the ninja star throwing and samurai sword use! Nice photos opportunities, well done guys. Great way to spend around 45mins - 1 hour of ninja fun.

An unforgetable experience for my 12 y.o. daughter AND ME, myself! Being shown the way of the Ninja by a true master himself.. Learning things we never knew before about how a Ninja lives, fights, moves and the gears they use. And Ninja Trick House gave us a souvenir picture for us to cherish the moment and memory of our experience there. The staff were quite helpful and willing to listen to customer's needs, and quick to respond emails. And the Ninja Master himself, is truly one of a kind.. discipline but caring towards children. Great experience!

My kids had so much fun learning some tricks the happiness and laugh while doing some tricks was really fun the staff knows some English so it was easy For me to communicate and they are friendly . They will ask you which language you need for the pamphlet . the space is not big so it’s kinda difficult for adult to do some tricks especially when using sword but perfect for the kids .I hope theres more space so it’s more fun to adult . I recommend to get a reservation first before going plus the reservation online is free . You will pay once you get there .

With 48 floors above ground and 5 below, it features a diverse range of attractions including a live music hall, movie theaters, theaters, and an array of dining options. The space also houses ZEROTOKYO - an evening entertainment venue within Zepp Shinjuku.

Level 2 is where you can find the food court with many tempting local cuisines. Starbucks is here too. Very colourfully set up. Great spot for lunch or dinner. You'll find a well laid out arcade games area on the next level. There's a free matrix experience that was closed when we came in early March but is due to open in March in the spring. Great views outdoors especially on level 17 where there's fine dining, a stall that sells doughnuts and ice cream.

During my recent visit to Tokyu Kabukicho Tower in Shinjuku, I was impressed by the diverse shopping options available within this vibrant complex. On the first floor, I discovered a variety of shops catering to different needs. There was a Starbucks for a quick coffee fix, a florist offering beautiful arrangements, and even a TKTS booth providing discounted tickets to various shows and events . This made it convenient to plan my evening entertainment while enjoying a leisurely stroll through the area. The second floor houses the Shinjuku Kabuki Hall – Kabuki Yokocho, a lively food court designed to resemble a traditional Japanese alley. With 10 restaurants offering regional specialties from across Japan, the atmosphere was festive, enhanced by neon lights and music . It was a delightful experience to sample various dishes in such a dynamic setting. For those interested in entertainment and collectibles, the third floor features namco TOKYO, an expansive arcade boasting over 250 gashapon machines and 100 crane games. Anime enthusiasts will appreciate the Banpresto TOKYO Figure Collection, offering a wide range of figures from popular series . Overall, the shopping experience at Tokyu Kabukicho Tower is diverse and engaging, catering to both casual shoppers and those seeking unique entertainment options. The combination of retail, dining, and entertainment makes it a must-visit destination in Shinjuku.

My mum and I were so excited to finally come here after watching Gaia series on Japan Hour. The brilliant mind behind the Shinjuku Kabuki Hall Kabuki Yokocho (what a mouthful) as well as Ebisu Yokocho is Yoshinori Hamakura. This charming man is a revolutionary genius figure behind the recent revival of the izakaya industry. Heck, I'm still seeing him on TV these days and he hired an actual ama (woman diver) to showcase their skill in the basement of New Shinbashi Building in one of the latest episode. Just search for him and see how Japanese can a Japanese look like. If I bump into him, I need to get his autograph! 😤 By golly, I'm such a fanboy, but I really love every episode he appears in. If I am ever shocked when I see something in Tokyo, I would think of Hamakura-san first. Anyway, a surprising or not so surprising fact that my mum first noticed. "How come everyone here is a woman, where are all the men?" "At the ramen place", I joked. True enough, among the hundreds of patrons, I spotted only around 5 men, including myself. This was on a Thursday at 2pm. This incredible building houses Hotel Groove, a very talked about accommodation for tourists. There is a cinema, live entertainment theatre, arcade and dining. Zepp Shinjuku is a concert hall venue that extends from basement 1 to 4. It is as lively as a building can get.

Located in Kabuki-cho, Shinjuku, the Godzilla Head is a 12-meter tall life-sized model of the iconic character. Situated on the outdoor terrace of the eighth floor of Hotel Gracery in the Toho Building, this monstrous head is a popular attraction. Visitors can admire its piercing eyes and sharp teeth from 130 feet below or take an elevator to get a closer look.
Great hotel located in the heart of Shinjuku,if you like action, definitely your spot and beware of the scammers! Do not go to any bar they offering you! Room is small, didn't expect a Palace for the area and the price! But definitely clean

An interesting little detail placed on the cinema building. I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't see other people taking photos of it. It helps to bring additional character to the area. It definetly looks better during night time due to the lights making it stand out more.

A cool district to walk through, there are lots of tourist attractions but be careful since this is technically the red light district and there are men who will follow you to get you to come inside their host clubs.

A cool place to stay regardless if you're a Kaiju fan or not. The price varies depending on how far you want your experience to go.The rooms are nice, have great views of the city and themed after Toho’s famous monsters. You receive one (or more) canvas bag when check in that contains some monster goodies inside depending on how many days you stay there. There is also a restaurant/lounge on the lobby level which serves good but isn't open 24hrs. Please not that the Godzilla head isn't currently open to view up close due to misbehaving tourist in the past. Also note to keep all your possessions locked away in your luggage as i got a pair of prescription glasses stolen from room service. This place would have gotten 5 stars if it weren't for that incident.

It is pretty cool to see. I can only imagine how cool that hotel room is right outside his head. If you're in the area at night, do not talk to people that approach you. They are trying to scam you and take your money. It is a unique area at night for photos.

Lots of hype but no "cigar". The statue is impressive hanging on the side of the movie theatre and hotel, but besides the noise there was little fire or smoke. The act on the hour is less than few minutes.

The cafe was exorbitantly expensive, but got a cool close look at the Godzilla head and some interesting Godzilla memorabilia and statuettes! The cafe was nice, and our Godzilla themed drinks were a pretty cool touch. You start at ground level, then take an elevator up to the 8th floor lobby/cafe. Passing by really cool displays!

The Godzilla Head in Shinjuku is a fun stop, though it’s smaller and less dramatic than expected. Still, it’s worth checking out during a nighttime stroll when the lights and city buzz add to the atmosphere. A quirky Tokyo experience, but more of a quick photo-op than a must-see attraction.

Simply.. Amazing!! This place was unlike anything I've ever experienced in my 3 years of touring Japan. Sure it's packed with overseas tourists, ridiculous and absolutely stupid, but far our, it's awesome fun! The colours, the lights, the silliness... I don't know, I'm just here for it. Food and drinks are reasonable and available from vendors in between segments. It gets crowded, but honestly it's all part of the fun!

Okay, strsight up. I had absolutely NO ideas what went on inside the restaurant and what the show was about. And everyone I've asked who has been to the robot show is equally clueless. But it's strangely nice how we all share this common experience of absolute cluelessness. Didn't try the food there and was basically dragged to the show by a friend. Tickets are pretty pricy too and the whole thing felt like some whimsical fantasy of randomness. I'd still say it's an experience and give the place 5 stars although I'm not sure why. But at least I came out of it with positive emotions! Everyone who's been and is clueless about your experience please comment below!! Maybe we can start a chain and see how far it goes.

Step into the past at the Old Tokyo Artillery Arsenal Shooting Range, located near Shinjuku's Golden Gai. The traditional facade takes you back to the Showa era, offering a unique shooting experience with air guns and traditional games. Embrace the nostalgia by donning a yukata for the full experience. This historic site also offers an intriguing glimpse into its past as an artillery arsenal, with remnants of its rifle range still visible. Explore this vintage gem for a memorable outing in Tokyo.
(Translated by Google) In the 1990s, when there was a rifle range, I got permission from the manager at the time to explore the depths of the trench. The firing point was near the blocked tunnel entrance, so the distance from there to the target was 50m. There was still space for people to pass about 20m further. From there, it seemed like the area was getting blocked by debris, but it didn't seem like it had been properly backfilled, so even when I shined a flashlight on it, I couldn't see the end. I remember having trouble with the humidity and black mold because it was underground. Meiji Jingu Gaien, located in the Aoyama area of Tokyo, is a large park that offers various recreational activities such as an indoor ice skating rink, driving range, baseball diamonds, and tennis courts. Despite being less talked about compared to its famous neighboring parks like Yoyogi Park and Shinjuku Park, Meiji Jingu Gaien's beautiful paths and iconic avenue lined with Ginkgo trees make it a worthwhile destination for visitors.
I came here on the night of November 29, 2024. The leaves were so beautiful—bright yellow—but it was super crowded. Still, the view was stunning. The main path was full of people since the road was closed to cars. If you want to take photos, I think it’s better to come in the morning🤔

If you find yourself around this area during the fall period, be sure to take a short walk around the park to admire the vibrant autumn foliage and enjoy the cool breeze that mother nature has to offer. That said, I wouldn't purposefully travel here since there are many other spots around the city that are just as, if not more scenic. The park also gets pretty crowded if you come during peak hours.

Rather disappointing. The Ginko trees we’re looking lovely but the fountain had been drained and was not operational. Unfortunately there were many supercars “showing off” making lots of noise with the usual impressionable gaupers in attendance.

Shinto shrine dedicated to the divine soul of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, established November 1920. It is surrounded by a beautiful forest and gardens; around 100,000 trees have been donated from all over Japan and planted by volunteers. The moment you walk in, passing the main gate, you will feel transferred to a different Tokyo- more peaceful, in balance with nature. The smell of trees, gentle cool and humid air and shade in the summer will help to rest from the heat, smell of pine in a winter will ease your breath. Don’t miss the inner garden (gyoen) that existed during Emperor Meiji life. The story says that he actually designed iris garden, small pond and paths for the Empress, to give her ‘fresh energy’. There is also a restaurant, a cafe and the vending machines if you want to stop for a refreshment. I recommend matcha latte (both hot and cold)- as I keep coming back for another one If you want to buy a charm or souvenir, there are 2 places on the grounds, that you can get it- one by the cafe and the other one on a way to exit towards Yoyogi station.

The Fire Museum, operated by the Tokyo Fire Department, offers a captivating journey through Japan's firefighting and disaster prevention history. Located at 3-10 Yotsuya, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, the museum houses over 8,000 reference materials and authentic artifacts from different historical periods. Visitors can explore traditional and modern exhibits while kids can enjoy dressing up as firefighters, exploring vintage fire trucks in the basement, and participating in hands-on activities on the third floor.
Great place to spend a couple of hours with kiddos especially if they like fire fighters. The entire building houses a lot of exhibits and interactive stations. We learnt about the history and development of the fire department in Tokyo and got to admire the exhibits of various fire fighting tools and vehicles. There also a rooftop exhibit that lets you sit in a decommissioned fire helicopter. At the basement there's a merchandise shop that sell fire fighting relate stuff. We purchased a ton of Tokyo Fire Department souvenirs for the guys back home. I included a picture of the shirts we got too!! Museum is multiple floors. I can’t remember which floor is “blocked off” but you can’t enter because it’s the actual floor for the local Fire Department. We did not buy advanced tickets. Just paid for admission when we got there. The entrance to the museum is actually by an exit to one of the train lines.

A must do for firefighters & firefighter wanna-bes like our 4yo. He was thrilled! He was beaming from ear to ear. It was also super interesting how the firefighting methods started in Japan and how it evolved over the years. It was so cool that they still have the old chariots & uniforms! The helicopter on the rooftop was a highlight! There were alot of interactive things to do too. So fun for the whole family!
UnDiplomatic W — Google review
I really enjoyed this museum and enough signs were in English that I felt it was time well spent, which was a little over an hour. On top of that, it was completely free! I was most intrigued by learning that the early-on firefighters used to fight fires partly naked to show off all their tattoos. I especially enjoyed being able to pick up some of the modern tools to feel how heavy they are (no photo, sorry). There were a number of things for people to be able to sit in, such as two different helicopters, but it was a long wait even though the lines weren’t long.

Kid friendly museum, we enjoyed the displays. It has a direct entrance from the train. Free entry, dont forget to pass by the gift shop!
Jenn C — Google review
First time been to a fire museum overseas. This museum is surprisingly well maintained. It's multi stories and there are many different engines, and a helicopter, on display. Everyone was friendly and helped explain the history of the department in the area, as well as providing wells of knowledge on each piece of history. There are lots of kids so it gets noisy every now and then. But it's the good kind. Also entrance is free!
Leon T — Google review
This really is a great little museum, tucked away, we entered through an entrance via a Train station (I can't remember the name of it though), although there is a main entrance too. Very interestingly starts off with the history of firefighters during the Eco period, and brings it up to date. Lots of costumes/uniforms and exhibits. One floor is really a kids space, but myself and my 30 year old sun enjoyed it. Easily spent a few hours in here, it was almost empty when we visited. Best thing of it all? It's completely free, not a Yen, so if you're in the area, go ahead and enjoy it

Great free attraction with plenty of history, props, vehicles and interactive sessions for kids. Shame a section was closed for renovations but hard to complain for free entry.

Nestled in a leafy complex just behind Kagurazaka Station, Akagi Shrine is a blend of traditional and modern architecture. Established in 1300, it enshrines Iwatsutsuo-no-mikoto and Akagihime-no-mikoto, known for warding off evil and granting women's wishes.
Modernized decorated shrine in the heart of Kagurazaka. Quite good atmosphere to relax.

A well maintained & nice looking Shrine. It has a modern vibe inside. Enjoyed the silence & the rain when we visited. A great place to see when in the area. They also have a cafe inside.

It's a very neat and tidy place. A modern style shrine. I came on a public holiday and it had barely anybody there. Very quiet. It is free to visit.

It was a lovely shrine, although the reviews all seemed to praise how friendly the staff were, and I didn't find that... they weren't rude, but they weren't notably polite either. It seems I was there for a festival, or at least to see the festival being set up. It looked like it was going to be fun!

March, 2023 In a tribute to its storied past, the Akagi Shrine underwent a magnificent transformation in 2010, helmed by the celebrated architect, Kengo Kuma. The result was a modern reimagining of a traditional Shinto holy site. In addition to offering a peaceful sanctuary for reflection and worship, the shrine is also a hub of activity, hosting recurring markets and seasonal events that enchant visitors from far and wide.

With 700 history Akaki Jinja Shrine has been the local Shinto worship center for Ushigome-Kagurazaka, Shinjuku, residents. It was rebuilt a few times because fire accident in 1842 and because of war burn in 1945. Current Jinja/ shrine's main worship hall structure was created in 2010 after Akaki Jinja Shrine shut down its kindergarten, a financing resource for the Shrine and after residential apartments at Jinja's own land co-development deal with Mitsui Real Estate, because lack of students due to demographic change. Because of joint project venture with Mitsui Real Estate, new Jinja Complex and its Apartment Realty project do earn positive recognition for their designs and real-estate utilization. Probably, Akaki Jinja Shrine creates a new financing model for the financing resource and better survival ability for the shrine, when many other shrines in nearby are relying on selling burial lots for the deceased. There is a cafe inside the Jinja complex. Jinja is free for entry, and is at the center of Kagurazaka.

The cafe welcomes first-timers looking for a one-of-a-kind Japanese experience. Visitors can enjoy the cute and kind service from maids like Kiriko chan and Neneko chan, who make an effort to accommodate English speakers. Guests can also have their pictures taken for free by signing up with the cafe's app.
What a cultural experience. The maids seemed shocked when I actually did get there attention with a meow. I loved it all. How it works - there is an admission fee of 880yen that they charge every hour. And you have to buy something every hour. PS - it turns out you do not get to ream the maids !

So much fun! The waitresses are very attentive and even with a language barrier we managed to get our order and take part in the songs (with help from translate) 😊 You can order a set from the menu, which is either a meal plan, or a dessert plan, or drinks plan, (or all) - all packages include a photo with a maid and a souvenir. My boyfriend and I had a great time, around ~£50 all together. I’d recommend booking after 8pm. ありがとう!! プリンセス <3

Very cute and unique experience. For the first few minutes it could be really awkward, but the girls are nice and if you go there with someone else you can enjoy the unique atmosphere while having fun. It's exaggerated cute in everything: to order you need to say "Miao miao". The prices are ok, as long as you order normally and do not pay for weird extras (Like a sing show)

Loved all the ladies’ dedication and enthusiasm! Impromptu drawings on our omu rice were definitely a highlight! We were given a voucher to have picture taken with the maids but were ultimately charged for the above when we checked our receipt.

The New National Theatre, Tokyo, situated in Shibuya-ku, is a prominent hub for the performing arts in Japan. It features opera, ballet, contemporary dance, and drama performances across its three main theaters: the Opera House, the Playhouse, and the Pit. The venue hosts a diverse range of productions including classics like 'Tales of Hoffman' and 'The Nutcracker,' as well as modern works such as 'Passion' and 'The Cherry Orchard.'
It was an outstanding experience. We watched the national Japanese Ballett playing Giselle. All the dancers were perfectly synchronized while dancing. And the stage it self war stunning as well. With all the forg perfectly timed on the stage. This was by far the best Ballett I saw so far.

Planning to see a show at this theater? Make sure to book a seat between rows 1 and 10 for optimal visibility. I recently sat in the 14th row, center, for a marionette performance and couldn’t appreciate the finer details, especially the faces of the marionettes.😥 The seats are comfortable, with good legroom. Be sure to book your tickets well in advance on the theater’s website.

Beautiful architecture. The building is well maintained and very modern as if it still brand new- surprised to learn it was built back in 1997. Went here to watch The Nutcracker and the mouse king - good production.. different from the nutcracker shown at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.

I booked a ticket to see Don Qiuxote for the first time. I got a taxi to new national from ebizu which if you don’t look ahead to verify where the main building or box office is you’ll be doing a lot of walking lol. I ended up at the right place and the receptionist was very helpful. This place is pretty big and it can get a little confusing but everyone is pretty helpful. Once I got to my seat the view was amazing as was the show! I’ll be back for more

Beautiful Opera building with great acoustics. My seat was pretty far up (C-section) and the view as well as the sound were both great. Very clear and well defined. The building itself is great too. Lots of water and seating areas. Worth a visit for sure. I also like the staircase where they showcase costumes from former operas. And during breaks they serve plenty of drinks for fair prices.

The park features a splash pond, sports complex, and a dog-friendly environment with a marked walking/jogging circuit. Beautiful park for locals and those going to the rec center. I was looking for a pull up bar to do calisthenics while in Tokyo, almost gave up my search before stumbling upon this (slightly northwest of rec center)

This is a beautiful neighborhood park area in the busy Shinjuku area of Tokyo. It's an oasis of tranquility in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. There are plenty of playgrounds, courts for different sports, and greenery. It's definitely worth stopping by for a rest if you are in the neighborhood. There are toilets and places to refill your water bottle.

It’s not as spooky as people might’ve been led to believe even being there between midnight and twilight. There are too many random people in the park doing TikTok dances or sleeping around. Completely takes you out the immersion. But it is what it is. Fantastic park to chill at, either ways, especially during the day! Also, extremely safe 24/7!

It’s not small, quite big, with all the facilities, including a walking track, sports field, convenience store, gazebo and places to sit. Seems like the Terrace for wisteria would make it very nice in the spring, fall with other flowers too.

Beautiful spot either in springtime or autumn. Flowers and trees, Japanese gardens with stones and small bridges, lanes and ponds settled under the trees. Relaxing place for spend time. Fields for children play; some are playing football, others are practicing baseball. And convenient toilets to run in on necessity.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building North Observatory is a must-visit for tourists, offering stunning views of the city. Located at 202 meters above ground, this free public observation room provides an opportunity to admire the megalopolis that is Tokyo. While both the South and North Observation Decks offer beautiful views, the North tower is recommended for its extended hours and perfect night-time vistas. Visitors can also enjoy a lounge area and may even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji on clear days.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is one of those spots in Tokyo that often flies under the radar, which is surprising, considering it offers a free observation deck with panoramic views of the city (on a clear day, you can even spot Mount Fuji). Unfortunately, when I visited, the city was wrapped in a thick fog, so the view was more atmospheric blur than skyline spectacle. That said, the experience was still worth it: the building is impressively designed, easy to access, and most importantly, not crowded at all. A rare find in Tokyo. Inside the observation deck, there's a small souvenir corner, some vending machines, and, for those who like collecting them, four official ink stamps to mark your visit. It’s a nice touch for stamp collectors or anyone who enjoys small, meaningful travel mementos. If the weather cooperates, it’s a must for budget-conscious travelers who still want that “top of Tokyo” moment. But even on a foggy day, the calm atmosphere and lack of tourist chaos make it a worthwhile stop.
Vale P — Google review
Great view on the top of the building. Access was quite easy, there was roughly a 15-20 minutes line but it was moving quickly. The view from the top is definitely worth it so don’t hesitate to go up. It was free of charge. Lastly at every half an hour, there was an evening lights show outside of the building. Awesome experience so don’t miss it
Rosen K — Google review
Second time to visit this observatory. The first time was in 2016. Things have turned very touristy here. Ground floor has grown a Tourist Information center. The elevator was filled well up with people before we took off. Once on the top, we were met with a large café area, a HUGE souvenir shop even a toilet and a potable water fountain. The windows where mount Fuji is visible when the weather is good, have now gotten a ramp installed (no idea why). Mount Fuji was semi-visible if one knew where to look at as it is located quite far away from Tokyo. In 2016 the things were simplier - no café area, no ramps(and no need for one as it is all flat…)or stairs for this matter…and definitely NO souvenir shop or a crowd to come in and out of the elevator. Still free of charge but it might change anytime soon. One could spot Tokyo sky tree from a distance.
Lora O — Google review
AMAZING view from the 45th floor. Busy but organized keeping wait less than 30 minutes. Of course there is also a wait for going down the elevator. They have made a nice job with large windows, nice café and a boutique shop. This will be one of my highlights to see Tokyo

This observatory is the best in Tokyo to see the endless Greater Tokyo area. Do not miss the video-mapping show at night! Free entry, well organized. Allow for 2 visits day/night! There is a gift shop with interesting items. No reservation need. No long waiting lines.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building – North Observation Deck - F R E E For photographers visiting Tokyo, the North Observation Deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is an absolute gem — and it’s free! From the moment you step out of the elevator on the 45th floor, you’re greeted by sweeping panoramic views that stretch across the city skyline, with Mount Fuji visible on clear days. As Photolator photographers, we were impressed by how well the deck is designed for capturing the city — wide, clean windows offer unobstructed shots, and the lighting at sunset turns the skyscrapers into a golden sea. At night, Tokyo’s lights come alive, making for incredible long-exposure opportunities. Staff are welcoming and organized, and the space never feels rushed. There’s also a small café, perfect for a break while waiting for the perfect light. Whether you’re a professional photographer or a traveler with a smartphone, the North Observation Deck delivers unforgettable cityscapes — and best of all, it’s one of Tokyo’s best free experiences. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Customers praise the attentive service from the staff and note that the store is well-organized despite its small floor space.
Personally, i'm not a major hiking fan but I was curious of what the shop is like so I went in to take a stroll. It surely suit the needs for having everything a hiker may need and separating by floors. Many choices and brands with different price range for selection. One stop fits all here for hikers

Huge selection and super helpful staff! I stopped by L-Breath Shinjuku while looking for some hiking gear and ended up spending way more time (and money 😅) than expected—in a good way! The store is massive, with several floors dedicated to everything from hiking shoes and backpacks to outdoor clothing and camping gear. Best to go up to the 7th floor and walk down. I was especially impressed by the variety of hiking shoes—they even had sizes that are hard to find in Japan. The staff were friendly and really took the time to help me choose the right pair. Prices are fair, and they also offer tax-free shopping for tourists. The vending machines to take a number for service were easy to use, and the whole experience felt really smooth. If you’re into hiking, camping, or just want some cool outdoor wear, definitely check this place out. It’s just a short walk from Shinjuku Station too—super convenient!

When you ask for tax free they say yes, but then you recognize at the cash point that there is no TAX FREE. İf i give an example ; the product is 100 and the discount price 90 you can not ask for TAX FREE because they say the distiction between two prices is the tax free. But they put the numbers like discount price not like tax free. I think its a bit tricky

"The Quest for the Perfect Pack": My Shopping Experience at L-Breath Shinjuku As a hiking and trekking enthusiast, I knew beforehand that L-Breath Shinjuku was the ultimate sanctuary for outdoor gear in Tokyo. With nine floors of equipment, I arrived with a clear goal: to find the new backpack that would accompany me on my next adventures, focusing on quality and a good price. The shopping experience was nothing short of perfect, mainly due to the combination of the immense selection and the meticulous Japanese service. The Backpack: Montbell 50L – Japanese Lightness After a long tour of the floor dedicated entirely to backpacks—which was simply a heaven for pack enthusiasts—I chose a 50-liter Montbell model. This Japanese brand is well-known for its approach to Ultralight gear, which was exactly what I was looking for. The backpack felt incredibly light, yet simultaneously boasted a strong structure with high-quality materials and a clean, functional design. The price difference compared to an equivalent Western brand pack was significant, and the value was immediately apparent. The Service That Made the Difference: The Art of Custom Fitting What made the purchase an exceptional experience was the service. The moment I signaled my interest in the Montbell, a professional staff member approached me (who was patient and willing to communicate in basic English) and offered a full custom fitting. Torso Measurement: He began with a professional measurement of my torso length to ensure the pack's frame was perfectly suited to my body. Simulated Load: He then filled the pack with simulated weights (to mimic a full load of gear), allowing me to experience the pack in an "actual" condition before buying. Meticulous Adjustment: He painstakingly adjusted every single possible strap—shoulder straps, the hip belt (which must sit correctly on the hips), the sternum strap—until I felt the weight was distributed perfectly onto my hips and not my shoulders. This attention to detail was characteristic of the excellent Japanese service. This professional care gave me full confidence that the pack not only looked good and was a good price but was truly custom-fitted and would protect my back. Sealing the Deal: Great Price with Tax-Free Discount The price of the Montbell backpack was attractive to begin with, but at the cash register, the purchase became especially worthwhile: Tax-Free: Upon presenting my passport, I received a 10% consumption tax exemption (Tax-Free). Additional Discount: I utilized a tourist coupon I had, which provided an extra 5% discount on the price after the tax exemption. In the end, I acquired a new premium backpack for a price significantly lower than a lesser-quality model would cost elsewhere. In summary: The shopping experience at L-Breath Shinjuku was a winning combination of a massive selection, professional expertise, and a double discount. It is the most highly recommended place to purchase high-quality outdoor gear in Japan, especially if you are looking for a backpack that will be perfectly fitted to you.

Samurai Restaurant Time, situated in the lively Kabukicho district of Shinjuku, is a popular attraction for international tourists. The venue offers thrilling performances featuring Samurai swordplay, dynamic dances, neon lights, and laser beams. Produced by the creators of the renowned Robot Restaurant, it promises an exciting experience for visitors. While initially marketed as explicit and adult-oriented, the show is suitable for children and lacks nudity. Some guests found it slightly pricey but ultimately worthwhile.
My last full day in Japan and I wanted to do something really good. A guy I met a few days ago recommended this show and I was not disappointed. To say the performers put their heart and soul into it is an understatement. They were brilliant and their enthusiasm was infectious. Free sake and tea and a treat was a nice touch and the entire experience was memorable and great fun. My only gripe would be it didn't go on longer!

There were four of us, and the staff went above and beyond they even gave us a complimentary sake tasting, along with green tea and a special Halloween candy edition. Such a nice touch! Definitely a place worth visiting again.

High energy & a ton of fun!!! We ourchased our tickets from America. When you enter the venue, you're greeted quickly and offered a kimono shirt for the performance. How fun!!! It was great for pictures. You walk through a very vibrant hallway, staircase and into the performance room where you're seated based on your ticket type. We had front row!! The ticket comes with a meal and you order more or drinks as the night progresses if you would like. As the performances start, they were very entertaining!!! You could see that these were professional dancers and performers. Showcasing Japanese culture and Samarai culture. Girls and boys were all amazing. Great costumes, great energy, a wonderful performance. If you're interested theater and a show, with dinner included, book the tickets!! Great for a group of friends + family-friendly too.

It's not exactly the same as Robot Show but! it 100% has the same vibes and it was extremely enjoyable. Excellent way to cap off a trip. Highly recommend! Just make sure you find the entrance as there are a lot of signs for it, but there is only one entrance. P.S. It's not risque at all. Lots of costume changes but nothing extremely revealing. Family friendly probably not due to how loud it is, but show wise, live signing, instrument playing, and props with effects.

We picked this because it was 94 degrees out and we needed something indoors with air conditioning. The show itself felt alittle like Mr. Rogers make-believe on crack with drums and singing, but it was fun and lively! The performers were super energetic and entertaining especially for a morning show! I was impressed by all the massive floats. The backstage must be gigantic to accommodate such large pieces. Everyone who worked here spoke English and they were friendly. My husband and I went to the morning show at 1050. (Got there at 1030) we were given the choice to borrow a Japanese jacket/robe and then we picked our meal. I got the udon and my husband got the ramen. The food was surprisingly ok. The noodles were bouncy and flavorful. During the show they gave complimentary sake and free sweet sticky rice dessert (tasted like mochi to me.) You also get lent light sticks so you can “participate” during the show. I also appreciated that the ladies bathroom had free pantyliners and tampons. That is always a lifesaver in case of an emergency. This is adults only. No one under 18 is permitted. The show isn’t inappropriate at all, but I think it’s a skinny space (it’s dark too) and it’s probably dangerous for kids to be navigate.

To be honest it's very kitschy. If you're expecting a traditional performance type thing, this is not it. If you want high energy, feel the beat in your seat music and a complete light and anamatronic show, this is for you. The food options actually aren't too bad, but you can also just get a two drink option. The intermission kill the feel good vibe a bit but I get they need time to set the stage up... maybe should project something during those intermission.

One of the best looking places I've been in Japan and one of the most entertaining places as well. People are super nice and welcoming, the food is nice, it is included with the show and of course the show is impressive. Make sure to make a reservation because they sold out quickly. Returning to this place again.

My overall experience is...okayish but it was fun, also but, too may breaks which are too long. So because of that the playtime is not so long. Okay, I get that the crew needs to do the background changes and dancers need to change their clotes, but 15 minutes after every 10 mins of play... Too long. 1 welcome sake + another during the show was a good idea 😉. I also got 2 beers so I was a bit tipsy in the morning at the 10:30 show ☺️ I bought the ticket through 3rd party site so it was just 6500 yen.

Event venue
Located on the ninth and tenth floors of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku is a newly opened movie theater with eight screens and a total of 752 seats. The theater offers reclining seats for maximum comfort during screenings. Visitors have praised the stylish and cozy lobby, spacious and comfortable seating, as well as the impressive sound design by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The classy ambiance extends to the lobby and bathrooms, making it an ideal spot for evening viewings.
If you’re looking for a movie experience that’s a step above the usual, 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku is well worth the splurge! Located inside Kabukicho Tower—one of Japan’s largest entertainment and hotel complexes, which opened just two years ago—this cinema brings luxury and comfort to the next level. Before your screening, you’re welcomed with complimentary popcorn and drinks —and yes, refills are included! Coming early to soak up the relaxed atmosphere is a must. We recommend booking the S Class tickets, which not only give you extra comfort during the film but also grant you access to a special lounge afterward. Here, you can unwind and enjoy a complimentary drink as part of your ticket. If you want to skip the crowds, visit early on a weekday morning—you might just have the entire venue to yourself. The spacious seating, calm ambiance, and thoughtful service make it an experience that’s hard to match. Overall, 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku offers more than just a movie—it’s an escape. Perfect for a treat-yourself day in Tokyo.

Expensive, yes, but inarguably an excellent place for having a sophisticated cinematic experience you should choose for your favourite film at least for once. Almost every part of viewing a film is fully optimised with the state of the art and gorgeous facilities. The sound system tuning that were co-directed by late Sakamoto Ryuichi is grand and delicate, easily rivalling DolbyCinemas, as I feel it personally. Just be sure to check in at the cinema for the complimentary snack and drink to enjoy in a cosy sofa in the classy lounge lobby from 1 hour prior to viewing.

#1 It's on the 9th floor, take the elevator. #2 If you're already going to this theater, pay for the S-Class ticket. #3 Arrive a little early so you can enjoy the lounge, it's a great vibe for a date. I saw Superman last night, audio English and Japanese subtitles. My girlfriend and I had a great experience, the staff was very welcoming and spoke multiple languages. Highly recommend.

I went to Japan to play a chess tournament. To my surprise Kimetsu no Yaiba was available with English subtitles starting from 3 days ago. First, I thank the movie theater for having released it, not every cinema in Japan provides English subtitles. Then, yes I have to agree compared to my country it is way more pricey, but the service is also way different, the space between seats, the sound... I also felt they try to avoid putting too many seats on the sides so that everyone could enjoy the movie, and have good conditions. I can't tell for sure about other rooms, I only know about the room number 5, floor number 5. From time to time it is a good experience, they know what they are doing. The service provided shows they care about movies and customers.

I bought an S class ticket but was disappointed that there’s not really much difference between that and the A class. Quite expensive coming at $65 AUD a ticket. The only thing you get extra is a more spacious seat and reclining chair (the legs don’t recline though). The popcorn is also stale and not as buttery as that at Toho cinemas. Cinema screen is a little smaller than expected but had great sound quality and volume.
Emily L — Google review
One of the best movie theaters I've been to albeit quite pricey. I would come again if a visit to Tokyo lined up with the release of a highly anticipated film. The audio quality is unmatched and the seating is quite comfortable. Basic concessions are covered by price of admission as well.
Joseph F — Google review
Use the elevator to get to the 9th floor. It's easier. We were in theater 6 a chance to wrap around scream thing deal? Not a fan but maybe yours. But if it's not yours, pay attention. The lounge is stellar. The sound system in the theaters was freaking amazing and the staff and the popcorn and the lounge. I'm so spoiled and it will be hard to deal with this early teenager at the local AMC. Well worth the money and worth the effort to find it
John M — Google review
Great atmosphere. I’m not sure but there’s probably unlimited popcorn and drink refills. The movie was so good that I couldn’t step out, but it’s a good system. I asked to have two separate drinks, and they were very nice with it. Food may take time to make, so use of time is important before the movie. But overall a great experience.

Live music venue
Zepp Shinjuku is a new and spacious music venue located in the heart of Shinjuku's nightlife strip. It is situated across four basement floors of the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, offering a slightly more intimate atmosphere compared to its sister venues. The state-of-the-art design includes LED floors, creating an electric ambiance for concerts featuring various music genres from rock and pop to idol and anime songs. At night, the venue transforms into ZEROTOKYO, a vibrant megaclub.
Came for Minami (美波). The venue was organised very well with the merchandise sales, ticketing and entering the venue. The staff were really friendly and helpful as the first staff that came out around 3pm explained in great detail for me (a foreigner) on what I needed to do and where to go to purchase tickets and pick up my merchandise. Really grateful and happy!

Nice music venue located in the basement (B4) of the Kabukicho tower. Big red staircase to access the venue 4 floors down. Lockers are on site. Like most concert venues in Tokyo, you have to pay 600¥ for a mandatory beverage. Entering the venue was pretty smooth. The sound quality is good. In my opinion, it's a good size venue. It is about 10/15 mn away by foot from Shinjuku station.

I came to see Asian Kung-Fu Generation and could not have had a better experience here. The Basement rooms provided a really ambience and reminded me of seeing shows in High School at restaurants and bars. You're much closer to the show, so you can see and here more. To anyone looking at a concert at this venue, I HIGHLY recommend it. As a foreigner, the people both staffing the venue and attending the concert were all VERY friendly with me and patient with my lack of Japanese. I really can't recommend this place enough

I was there for the Band-Maid concert in July 2023 and it was phenomenal. Many stairs down to the concert hall, but it does what it should. Only problem I encoundered was to get the tickets in time before opening of the doors. But we managed to persuade the staff to open a counter right in time, so we got our tickets.

Disco club
ZEROTOKYO is a cutting-edge club in Shinjuku, Tokyo, offering an innovative entertainment experience. With five areas spread across multiple floors, the venue hosts international artists and features a modern interior with top-notch sound systems. The club boasts four DJ rooms, smoking areas, locker storage, and friendly staff. It's part of a new entertainment complex in Kabuchiko Square and has garnered praise for its cleanliness and spacious main stage area.
This was my first time visiting Zero Tokyo, and honestly, if I had known this nightclub was going to be this cool and fun, I would have been coming here since they opened. They have escalators inside the club that go down four floors—and I’m so glad it’s not stairs! At the end of the night, navigating stairs in heels is always a struggle, especially in a dark nightclub where drunk people are falling all over themselves. Escalators are a game-changer. It honestly felt like Disneyland inside a nightclub. The club has multiple floors and DJ areas, and the entire design is so well put together that it’s worth visiting just to see. Plus, the DJs were top-tier. Every room had amazing music, and the night I went, Vintage Culture was playing, so I had an absolute blast. Another thing that stood out? I actually felt safe here. That’s rare in nightclubs. I even left VIP to go dance in the general crowd, and my friend stayed nearby, keeping an eye on me. Normally, I’d say maybe I shouldn’t leave VIP, but the energy was so good—everyone was dancing, happy, and just genuinely having a great time. I also noticed security quickly removed a girl who did something inappropriate. I didn’t see what happened, but they handled it fast, so props to them. Now, let’s talk about cleanliness. ✔ Bathrooms? Super clean. (This should be standard in clubs, but it’s not, so I was thrilled.) ✔ Floors? Mostly spotless. Only one area on the main floor was sticky, but that’s expected with so many people spilling drinks. ✔ **Capacity? The main floor holds 2,000 people, and they still keep it looking good. That’s impressive. The sound system was incredible, but if you go near the main DJ booth, wear earplugs. I have really good hearing, and even five or six rows back, I couldn’t go any closer—it was that powerful. The video jockey was amazing all night, and the lighting tech was on point. The lights were so bright I needed sunglasses, but it just added to the experience. I believe they have a food menu, but I didn’t order anything, so I can’t speak on that. However, the VIP bouncers were on it, and the bottle service staff at our table was incredibly polite and kind. All the staff were friendly, which made the night even better. I highly recommend this nightclub. VIP is absolutely worth booking, and I can’t say enough good things about my experience. Zero Tokyo is a must-visit.

This is a super fun club! We had a great time and the sound and lighting is top notch. Yes the drinks are a bit pricy, but overall definitely worth a visit and if I’m back in Shinjuku again I’ll be going back for sure hah ha!! Loved it 😻
Mogwai — Google review
Very fun 3 story (or maybe more ) club. Attended an event and had a lot of fun. The staff allowed me to re enter even though the bouncer shouldn’t have let us out and avoided paying again. Will come back
Luis G — Google review
This bar has a great atmosphere, with just the right balance of lively energy and a relaxed vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive, making sure you never wait too long for a drink. The cocktail menu is creative and well-crafted, with classics done right and a few unique twists worth trying. Prices are fair for the quality, and the music adds to the overall experience without being too loud. It’s definitely a spot I’d recommend for both casual drinks and a fun night out. Would you like me to make it positive, neutral, or a bit more critical?
Qasim I — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience at Zero Night Club in Tokyo. A staff member was aggressive, told me to “go back to America,” and said the place was only for Japanese citizens. This discriminatory and unprofessional behavior made me feel unsafe — I do not recommend this establishment.

(Translated by Google) The theater is on the 6th floor, and you can take the escalator up. The elevator is not available. ■Approximate time from the station to the "6th floor theater" It takes about 10 minutes from Seibu Shinjuku Station, and about 20 to 30 minutes from JR Shinjuku Station. ■View The view from the center of the last row of the second floor seats is the best in a sense, as there is nothing blocking your view between you and the stage and you can see the whole stage. It feels like the last row of a large theater in a movie theater. You can see the faces, but it's a little difficult to see the fine details of the expressions, so it's a good idea to bring opera glasses. ■Seats (center of the second floor seats) The space between the seats is narrow. The seat and backrest are hard. If you slouch a little, the backrest feels like it's pushing against your spine. ■Toilets (for women) There are ones in the first floor seating area and the second floor seating area. Impressions of using the second floor toilet: I lined up before the show and during intermission, but it seemed like the toilets were replaced rather quickly. The restrooms are closed after the show. You will have to use the restrooms on the second floor of the building, but they will be crowded with theater patrons and other customers. ■Foyer It's narrow. During intermission, it will be crowded with people buying drinks and food. Merchandise is also available in the foyer. ■Exiting You can either take the escalator or the emergency stairs. The emergency stairs are on the side of the foyer. It's a bit of a challenge as you go down from the 6th floor, but you can get off quickly. Exit at the Seibu Shinjuku Station side.

(Translated by Google) Tokyu Kabukicho Tower 6th floor ✶The elevator doesn't stop, so take the escalator! 🚃2 minute walk from Nishi-Shinjuku Station main entrance (← recommended. You don't have to go through Kabukicho) 6 minute walk from Shinjuku West Exit D5 7 minute walk from Shinjuku Station B13 exit (If it's sunny, it's easy to find if you exit from Lumine Est. There are traffic lights so it feels like it takes about 9 minutes) The atmosphere on the way there isn't great, but... The theater itself is new and clean, and it has a reputation for being easy to see from any seat. ★If you avoid Kabukicho and walk from Lumine along the Seibu tracks and enter from the escalator at the back, it's pretty safe! See the video for the entrance. I've also attached a floor map★ ⚠️The balcony seats on the 2nd and 3rd floors have a pretty good view of the sides. (This time, they were sold as seats with a blocked view) Also, the seats are high chairs like counter seats to make it easier to see. As soon as I sat down, they offered me a footrest that I could put my shoes on, which was helpful because I'm short. After the show, I was able to leave my feet there. The same goes for other people who arrived at different times. They were thorough and reassuring. The handrails are low when you sit down, so it's quite dangerous to lean over. There was an announcement saying to be careful because there are actually a lot of falling objects. Hang your opera glasses around your neck! The bars are not walls, so it's easy to watch, but it's a bit scary. 😅 Even though I'm healthy, I felt discomfort in my lower back after a three-hour show, so I don't recommend the high chair for the elderly or children. ℹ️The staff placement and announcements were good◎ They were standing at every corner, so I was able to ask questions immediately if I had any questions. There are only a few balcony seats, but as soon as I sat down, there was an announcement and a warning before the show started, so I was happy that I didn't feel left out lol 🏙️It's a theater in a high-rise building, so I couldn't go outside to get some fresh air during the intermission, which I'm not used to. Next time, I'll do a little more preparation and try using the lobby. [Additional note, second visit to the first floor] There was a small lobby at the back of the first floor. There was a counter by the window where you could put your luggage and eat and drink. There was a stand selling drinks and snacks, and they sold drinks from the performance 🤭 (apparently you could bring these drinks to your seat) It came with a Theater Milano holder and you could choose the color. I didn't feel it was too crowded because of the staggered exit times. If you have a favorite performer or thought the performance was good, please contribute by answering the Milanooza survey. The area provides an opportunity to experience different aspects of Korean culture while in Japan, making it a lively and enjoyable destination for food, drinks, and shopping.

Loved walking the streets of Shin-Okubo! If you’re a K-beauty fan, this is the place to go! And if you’re a K-drama and K-pop fan, get ready to stare at the faces of all your biases! There were so many Korean restaurants that I struggled to choose just one. The only problem I had with the place was that things were slightly overpriced? I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. But I had a great time owing to the overall vibes!

I thought it would be like Chinatown, but it was not like it. It was just stores and restaurants along the main road. There wasn't any design or anything special about the decorations. The streets and area are a little dirty. The street food was okay. The restaurant was descent.

I was expecting a lot more based on the reviews I’ve seen. There are a ton of Korean restaurants so I would definitely come if you are looking to have a nice meal. Language school
Cultural center
Kudan Institute of Japanese Language & Culture is affiliated with two hospitals, offering a diverse environment for students. Approximately half of the student body is at the undergraduate level. The school provides equal tuition costs for domestic and international students and offers some university housing. Former students praise the supportive staff and effective teaching methods, noting significant progress in language skills within a few months.
I’ve been studying at Kudan for nearly half a year, and the lessons are comprehensive and enjoyable, covering not just textbooks but also practical, everyday topics ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ All the teachers and staff are incredibly patient, and the staff always do their best to help whenever needed. It’s truly been a wonderful experience・:*+.(( °ω° ))/.:+
Megan T — Google review
My experience at Kudan was absolutely terrible, and I would not recommend this school to anyone. The staff are unprofessional and rude, and the higher-ups managing admissions and operations are even worse. I originally enrolled for 15 months but refunded my last three months and left early because the toxic environment was not worth it. One of the higher-ups, in the marketing department at the school, made a shocking, inappropriate comment during a personal conversation in March. When I mentioned my girlfriend was Japanese but spoke English, she visibly expressed annoyance, sighed loudly, and rudely criticized my relationship, claiming I shouldn’t date someone who speaks English while studying Japanese. This was deeply offensive and unprofessional. Love is not about language learning, and her behavior was completely unacceptable. On top of this, the teaching staff were unhelpful and often outright hostile. One teacher picked on me ever day I had her and was consistently rude. Another teacher even threatened to have my student visa revoked—a completely unnecessary and inappropriate threat. Requests for additional materials, such as verb sheets to supplement the poorly designed conversation class textbook, were often met with annoyance or outright refusal. It felt like the staff had no interest in helping students succeed. Ultimately, I paid this school to help me learn Japanese, but what I received was mistreatment, unprofessionalism, and a toxic environment. Save yourself the time, money, and stress—invest in a school where the staff actually care about their students.

I have to speak up, because I’ve been holding this in for a long time. I would like to share both the strengths and weaknesses of this school. Cons: The conversation class at level 5(top level)was the most disappointing. The teacher seemed to lack authority, the topics often felt outdated and sometimes caused unnecessary conflicts, and when students behaved inappropriately, the teacher simply tried to please everyone instead of guiding the class. During our final presentation, a student from a lower-level class openly expressed dislike toward people from my country, and the teacher present only smiled and said, “Oh, I see.” As a foreign student, I didn’t express my feelings at the time, but looking back, I feel it should be mentioned. In addition, one teacher once made a careless joke encouraging students to do something illegal related to visas, and also said that when she traveled in Europe, she would dress like people from my country to avoid being robbed. I didn’t care much about it at the time, but later I realized it was actually quite disrespectful, although this teacher was personally still okay toward me. Pros: The teachers who taught my intensive afternoon classes were excellent—professional, patient, objective, caring, and with a good sense of humor. Many of them left a deep impression on me, and I still feel grateful and happy when I think about those classes. The kanji classes were especially fun. The teachers who supported student life were also very responsible and attentive. When I faced difficulties, they helped me with great kindness and care, which I truly appreciated. The location is very convenient—if you like Akihabara, it’s within walking distance, and there are three subway lines nearby. Although the facilities inside the school are somewhat old, it doesn’t seriously affect the overall learning environment. Four stars to express my gratitude to the teachers and students who were kind and supportive!

Overall good school with quality instruction. The teachers as well as the homestay family I have been placed in are nice and very helpful. My main complaint is that for the kanji class, if you have varying reading and writing levels, the placement seems strange, as I was placed above my writing level, but below my reading level. Despite this, however, it is quite fun and I have learned much since coming here.

Took the conversation course for two weeks. I wish I could have stayed longer! The registration process was simple. First day placement test and orientation were pleasant. In class the teachers were passionate and clear. The classmates were fun and friendly. The level is just right for me! I’ll be back !

Good for taking cultural activities and having fun. But not for those who want to study. Thanks to all my fellow classmates who helped me with better understanding the material I saw for the first time. According to latest comments those "professionals" have not learned anything for 6 years. Still refusing in additional worksheets, still rude attitude to students who came ... to study Japanese, still assuming that all students should speak Japanese fluently before entering that "school". They are still "creating environment" instead of teaching. Me, as a student who are used to having reponsible teachers, will never accept that proposition. Especially now, when we have AI tools which are quite effective and costly efficient. Oh, yes, my Japanese was improving really fast ... after I left that "school". I hug everyone who suffered from the cruelty of those "professionals". They can persuade you in your disability, but they cannot teach. P.S. If it matters, I am working as a Native ...English Teacher in a public school in Tokyo. My education (not passport, of course lol) permits me that.

The summer holiday course in Kudan Institute of Language and Culture was highly beneficial for my speaking and listening skills. The organisation of the course and the activities was great. I made many friends and lots of memories!
Margarita K — Google review
Ohh Kudan, how I miss you! I was at this school from April to July 2023 to study Japanese and it was the best decision of my life! Not only did I make a big leap in speaking Japanese, but I also made many friends from all over the world (Hong Kong, Malaysia, France, etc.) and many memories that I still think back to almost every day. Back then, I took a conversation course and an additional manga course. In addition, there were many extracurricular activities, such as mountain hikes, Kabuki theater and best of all: cultural exchange meetings with locals. These allowed us to consolidate everything we had learned and gain confidence in conversation. The teachers were all fantastic and although as a beginner I was initially afraid that everything would be exclusively in Japanese, I really understood everything very well. However, the workload was quite heavy as you learned new grammar every day. Thanks to this, however, I made a huge leap in just 3 months, which would probably have taken me more than twice as long in Germany. I also received positive feedback from my teachers and was even allowed to give an interview for the school's YouTube channel. I was also lucky enough to be able to use what I had learned with my host family and the other flatmate from Taiwan. None of them could speak a word of English, so I was forced to use only Japanese. Of course, this also contributed to my improvement and I had delicious Japanese food on the table every day. If you are considering staying with a host family: Bear in mind that the distances to school can be very long and tiring. My host family lives in Saitama Prefecture, so I had to take the train for over 1 1/2 hours every day through the Tokyo rush hour (with two changes at the very busy Ikebukuro and Shinjuku stations). You can of course be lucky, but I would only recommend a home stay if you have chosen the intensive course, as this only takes place in the afternoon and you can therefore avoid rush hour. Summary: I can only warmly recommend this school, the teachers are fantastic, the teaching is very good and you can do a lot, be it extracurricular activities or the central location at Tokyo Dome. Best regards from Germany to: Oide sensei, Morikawa sensei and Kobayashi sensei! 過ごした時ずっと忘れません! 日本語を教えてくれてありがとうございました!

OVEN.Y.【オーブン・ニューヨーク】 is a delightful baked goods shop that recently made its debut in Shinjuku Isetan on December 2nd. This charming establishment specializes in creating delectable baked treats inspired by the beloved confections of New York City, alongside their own Bean to Bar chocolate offerings. A standout recommendation is their artisan babka, which has garnered a loyal following from the trendy neighborhoods of Manhattan's Lower East Side and Brooklyn's Williamsburg.

Although it was a little over my budget, I decided to buy it because the can was cute. It's a great souvenir, but the special shopper is out of stock. Can I use a regular Isetan shopper? Hmm? and. Is a store that uses such a large space running out of dedicated shoppers? There are many product lineups that I buy as gifts, but I have doubts. Do you have the same number of normal products and shoppers? They gave me a shopping bag to give it to me, but I was uncomfortable because it was handed to me in a bag that was a size that didn't match the size of the can. The more I looked at it, the more it looked like I had reused sweets that someone had given me by putting them in an Isetan shopper... This is the first time I've seen this kind of packaging for a sweets store in an Isetan store. There were no leaflets explaining the store's concept. I was a bit confused, so when I looked at the reviews, I saw that everyone was dissatisfied, so I was relieved that I wasn't the only one. Moreover, some people wrote a year ago that there were no leaflets and they said they would improve it, but it hasn't. I don't usually get negative reviews like this, so I decided to post this so that those who are considering it would be aware of it. sorry. Korean restaurant
Midnight Diner, also known as Tokyo Stories on Netflix, has been a popular show in Japan since 2009. The series showcases the unique and diverse culinary experiences found in Tokyo's late-night eateries. The show has gained international attention and is loved by both locals and travelers alike. It offers a glimpse into the vibrant food culture of Japan through heartwarming stories set in a small diner that opens from midnight to dawn.
I really missed Korean food while I was traveling Japan, so I was looking for Korean food. I've found this Korean restaurant by googling. I ordered the Bean sprout bulgogi, it was exactly same taste as that I had in Korean. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try real local taste Korean food. Oh, I should mention the table charge(OTOSHI). The owner said, It is one of the Janpaness culture and it serves food like appitizer with cost.

Phenomenal experience! The man who works here was extremely nice and helpful. The food was delicious, I got bibimbop; the veggies that usually goes inside was bit different from the usual bibimbop, but that was what made this place exclusive. And the price was reasonable even with the ‘otoshi.’ Definitely hit this place up, you'll be glad you did!
Hanbit J — Google review
Awful restaurant. The owner tries hard to be nice as much as he can to be funny, but it gets annoying after a few minutes. Most dishes were extremely overpriced for minuscule portions. Even worse, the taste is mediocre at best, disgusting at worst. It was the worst Korean food I have tasted in my life. But here is the worst part by far: I ordered the cold noodles, which tasted extremely bad, and even got food poisoning from it. I can't emphasize how much I recommend you to avoid this place.
Carlo P — Google review
Food I ordered was good but my all of my friends’ food was pretty bad for the price. Man who worked there was either drunk(?) or kinda strange. One of my friends got food poisoning, and after we were done the guy working there just added a “service charge” to all of our already pretty pricey meals. He did give us appetisers but made it sound like it was on the house, then charged us for them basically

The owner seemed drunk and he was unable to communicate in either Japanese or English idk if it was because he was drunk or not… also when we paid the prices didn’t add up and ended up getting charged extra money

He was so kind and the store was clean, which I liked even more. I see that all the customers who come say hello to the owner comfortably, so there are a lot of regulars!!! If you ever go to Japan and crave Korean food, I really recommend it. When you make a reservation, you tell me in advance what you want to eat other than what's on the menu, and they prepare it for you even if it's not on the menu! It feels like a late night restaurant? I was happy to eat delicious food until the last day. Say what you will about this place. Tourist trap or not. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this place and I would recommend this to anyone else that's considering going! The food was on the salty side, I got the ramen. Comes with a water, a snack and green tea, they provide light sticks so you can join in on the fun. You can wear their outfits while you're there for free. Performance was fun and simple. It has translations if they aren't speaking English. Good way to start the night if you have the evening show.

This place is completely insane and I loved every second of it! Don't let the name fool you - it's not really about food (though the bento box was decent enough). This is pure sensory overload entertainment - giant robots, lasers, loud music, dancing girls in crazy costumes, and complete controlled chaos. The basement venue is small and cramped, but that adds to the intensity. The whole show is about 90 minutes of non-stop action that makes no logical sense but is absolutely mesmerizing. At ¥8,000 for admission plus food, it's pricey for what amounts to a tourist attraction, but this is quintessential weird Japan that you can't experience anywhere else. Come with an open mind and prepare to have your senses assaulted in the best possible way!

Not sure since my last visit was more than 5 years ago, but as someone who enjoys shows and new experiences, it was pretty fun & memorable! The food wasn't a highlight, but if you want to watch parade-esque machines and costumes on a modern theatre, it can be a good experience.
