Coffee shop
Nestled in a charming strip mall near Tiger Stadium, Light House Coffee offers a delightful escape with its bright and airy ambiance. The café is adorned with natural elements, lush greenery, and raw wood furnishings that create an inviting atmosphere perfect for studying or relaxing. With minimalistic white walls and a well-curated gift shop featuring ethically-sourced products, it’s not just about the coffee here; it's about community.
If you're looking for the ultimate coffee shop experience look no further. The smell that engulfs you when you enter this place is killer!! My wife and I tried the pick 3 toast and all 3 were very delicious. She had the apple brown sugar latte and enjoyed it. The building itself is very spacious and not crammed at all. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and will 100% be back.

It's a cute place.. really it is! But also uptight as hell --I just mean: the atmosphere.. It feels like you can't chill out easy, everyone there's dead quiet on a laptop, not their fault.. also the black tea brownie was dryy 😕 but good customer service!
Heather — Google review
Amazing place! Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and I’m so happy we found this spot. The coffee was excellent, the space is large and very clean, and it was such a pleasant experience to be there. Definitely five stars!
Antonina P — Google review
i used to love this place but visited recently for breakfast to go and asked for the fig spread on the side. instead of putting it in a small sauce container, they literally just smeared it on the to go box like an after thought. the to go forks being tossed in the box unwrapped also looks unsanitary. really no care for presentation or accommodations.
Maria G — Google review
The coffee house is spacious for working and meeting with people. Craft coffee is excellent and roasted in house!
Alexandra L — Google review
I love lighthouse, when I started lsu last year this place helped me feel at home and like a cozy place I could study. The workers are always super sweet and talkative and the iced cereal milk latte is amazing, they always get out my coffee to me in less than 5 minutes and it’s awesome especially knowing I can count on the quick pick me up before my morning shifts or classes! I’ve recommended lighthouse to several family members and friends and they’ve all been pleased.
Dina G — Google review
Loved it!! I enjoyed my trio breakfast and the two coffees I had ❤✊🏽 i got the Avocado toast, Nutella toast, and the blueberry bacon toast. The service was great except for one of the baristas. I had a plastic small cup of water. I asked him if I could have some water and he didn't even think twice and serve me in the same plastic small cup even though he was giving another person water in a nice glass with ice. Other than that, I love the service and place.
Natalia B — Google review
I visit Baton Rouge twice a month for business. Hotel coffee is the worst, so I pack a travel pour over kit and head to Lighthouse for some of their delicious roasts. I’ve not had a bad bag, each selection roasted to perfection. I prefer naturals, but they always have a good selection. Get yourself some beans, grind them yourself and have a delightful morning. The vibe inside is prime coffee house. You’ll love it.

Magpie Cafe is a trendy and contemporary coffee shop located in a hip neighborhood in Baton Rouge. This intimate cafe prides itself on being local and community-based, sourcing its food and drinks from local farmers, dairies, and bakers. Established in 2012, it has become a favorite spot known for crafting intricate espresso drinks, superfood lattes, and offering a dynamic menu.
Icee matcha latte add lavender 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 such a cute place to sit and have girl talk- except it was me and my boyfriend lol! Nice staff and lots of vegan options!!

Shoutout Josh for making the world's most delicious "honey nut Cheerios" matcha! Made with oat milk, I'd petition for this to be a permanent menu item. It's nice to visit BR and be met with deliciously inventive drinks such as this. The space is beautiful, sunny and comfortable/spacious for remote workers or friends catching up alike.
Melissa K — Google review
When people think of coffee shops in BR, they may think Highland or Garden District. Ever since I helped manage Frankie’s Dawg House, before Stuart sold it, I used to go into Magpie daily for the cold brew. I haven’t been to this place for 8 years. They always have the most attentive and interested workers. The best baked goods. Magpie is amazing still, after all of these years! The tomato + herb goat cheese frittata was amazing. As well as the blueberry almond stitch!!

This was mine and my fiance's first time here. We have been to just about every local coffee shop in Baton Rouge and this one is easily one of the best in town!! Ellen and Karli were so pleasant to talk to, very helpful with suggestions, and definitely were a big part of why our first time here was so amazing! I can't speak on the food, but the food all looked like it was amazing and the dietary options were extremely inclusive! Will definitely be coming back!
Tristan F — Google review
I couldn’t really taste the vanilla in my latte, it was really bitter. But, great service and atmosphere. I will be back and try something different from the menu. Hopefully it will be better than what I had today.
Jessica R — Google review
A friend and I enjoyed a drip coffee and a latte. She got a vegan breakfast sandwich and loved it! We will be back. Plenty of places for LSU students to study. Indoor and some outdoor seating.
Susannah’s S — Google review
I love this place! They have amazing coffee and delicious homemade pop tarts. Fabulous baristas who know exactly what they’re doing. The new renovation is lovely too. Magpie is my happy place.
Penny P — Google review
Stopped here on the way out of town and OMG the vegan breakfast sandwich is the best. I’ve ever had even my dad, who usually hates anything vegan said it was super tasty. I also got the superfood latte which was 10/10. It was a bit busy when I went (around 10 am on a Saturday so to be expected), if I could go again I would go earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds. Wish I lived in Baton Rouge, I’d be here every weekend!

Coffee shop
Highland Coffees is a delightful coffee shop that exudes charm and a relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for coffee lovers. Nestled near the North Gates of Louisiana State University, this cozy locale features an inviting shaded patio perfect for enjoying your favorite brew while catching up with friends or diving into online classes. The on-site roasted coffee is complemented by a tempting selection of baked goods, including their renowned banana bread that outshines any TikTok recipe you might have tried during quarantine.
I love this place. So cozy 😊 Toasted everything bagel: heaven. Hot chocolate: no good. No flavor, it's surprising.. Other stuff: guess it depends! The blondie was also good/super rich

Local coffee shop right next to LSU. It is big and spacious with lots of small tables. I like the inside decor. Some people bring their dogs in and around the shop! There's only street parking by the shop. I got a large french vanilla latte and it was good with a caffeine booster! The girl working the register was super kind and helpful!
Maggie H — Google review
Today was my first time here. I dropped off my sister in New Orleans and on the way back I needed a calm spot to finish up homework and grab a drink, which led me to here. I got a matcha latte with cold foam, and it was very strong and ended up tasting great with the added mexican vanilla and sugar at the front. The place was stunning and filled with plenty of students and plenty of tables for them to study at. However, later in the evening a friend also visiting Baton Rouge had dropped off food leftovers for me to eat later. Not knowing the policy of outside food and drink, an older man I assume was a manager or owner gave me a short lecture on hurting their business by not buying anything and bringing outside food in (my matcha was long gone so he had no clue I was a customer) and how people like me often come in for the space and not for the business. It was a very valid and understanding perspective as a store owner wanting people to pay for their services, but the way I was spoken to for the others studying around me to hear left me very anxious and uncomfortable so I had to leave. Overall, amazing pastry and drink options and very comfy-cozy space, definitely come here for a relazing study or chat with a friend. However, as a student, idk WHO has hurt this business or cause the projection that I witnessed but just know if you don't have a product of theirs on the table I guess someone will lecture you for it. I was excited to come here the next time I need to take a trip out of Lafayette, but for this being my first time I wouldn't say I feel very welcomed to come back.

I decided to get a frozen mocha blended drink from Highland Coffees and met the owner Clark and his 2 employees. They all treated me really nice and I greatly appreciated that. So if you're ever in the Baton Rouge Louisiana area, you need to check them out.
The S — Google review
The vibes in highland are relaxed and social. The outdoor decor is especially pleasant. Their 'coffee of the day' makes repeat visits worth it. The drip coffee here is pretty great, with unmatched variety. The espresso is also quite enjoyable. The medium roast option is the most fragrant and balanced, in my opinion. Their granita latte is also tasty, and very popular among students. Teas are rarely served with a lot of care, and the leaves are quite old. Again, the variey of selection is the main draw. The staff are friendly and quite helpful! Coffee prices here are pretty competitive. Highland sources mid- to high-grade beans and prepares them with decent attention to detail. The price really reflects the product you're getting. Bring a water bottle if you'll be thirsty!!!! They unfortuntely do charge you for a cup of water. If you love black coffee, you'll enjoy a visit to highland.

Spacious, with plenty of seating. Limited food offerings. Solid coffee. Right outside the LSU campus, so plenty of people were there studying and chatting.

Great hangout spot near the campus. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is laid back. The decors are pretty nice too! They have a discounted refill offer for the coffee ordered while dinner in. The options for baked goods are plenty.

French Truck Coffee is a popular spot known for its quality house-roasted coffees and local pastries. The Government Street location, opened in 2017, offers a tightly edited menu of drinks with a focus on quality over quantity. Owner Geoffrey Meeker emphasizes the commitment to high-quality coffee without unnecessary embellishments. The cafe also boasts an expansive lounge area with stylish decor and an outdoor patio.
Chic, retro, casual coffee place. Yellow & teal color scheme. Great pastries, light lunches, different hot/ cold coffees. Friendly staff.

All good things come to an end eventually, I guess. I looked forward to my breakfast croissants from here until they restructured the menu & started charging separately for protein on the breakfast items. On top of that, the croissant sandwich looks much smaller now than it used to. And they burned my sandwich today. Looking for a new breakfast & coffee spot now 🙃
Lauren G — Google review
One of the best coffee experiences in BRLA. The coffee is always delicious and well made! Great selection of both hot and cold drinks, including teas. The sandwiches are delicious and filling. Excellent gluten free and vegetarian options. The seating is easy to access and usually there is an open table. You can eat outside too. The parking can be challenging because the lot is small. I always bring my put of town guests here for a remarkably cup of coffee
Debbie J — Google review
my favorite coffee in baton rouge! it is so smooth. i LOVE the ice that is given in iced drinks. the food is also amazing. they sell local bakeries baked goods and do well with promoting local social events. i love the outdoor area and could sit there for hours. it is also a pretty big space inside. i am never disappointed
Sofia B — Google review
The cutest little spot around for some great coffee. In an effort to shop locally, we decided to skip the big chains today. Great choice. I got the grilled cheese sandwich. To my surprise, it had jelly on it. It wasn’t bad. I just didn’t expect it. Everything was served in a timely manner. The host was nice. The drinks were great. I will visit again for sure.
Reliable R — Google review
I'm a big breakfast person but I tend to eat it really late during the day especially when I don't have to get up early in the morning for work! That's one of the positives about this place! I can go in late in the afternoon and have a wonderful breakfast and everything is always so fresh and they have great coffee!!
Jerome T — Google review
Very cute cafe on Government Street with plenty of parking on the side. The coffee themed interior is decorated with market lights. The yellow on blue color palette makes it very vibrant. The coffee is good, the staff are nice. They also serve breakfast and lunch, but we did not have a chance to try it yet.
Debdeep B — Google review
Good vibes, stickers and coffee. We bought some to take home and felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. This is the coffee spot! They had some vendors outside selling clothes, nothing for men but it looked artistic. The food biscuit I got was tasty too and quick.

Brew Ha-Ha is a cozy bakery and sandwich shop known for its delectable cake balls in various flavors. The top five flavors include wedding cake, red velvet, devil's food, 225 (yellow cake dipped in chocolate), and star crunch. During Valentine's Day, the cake balls are adorned with festive pinks and reds, making them a delightful alternative to traditional chocolates.
Wow!! What a cute spot. So many options for the cakepops even GF!! The coffee was AMAZING, the type you need to tell someone about. I got the seasonal “love spell” cold brew which is like a chocolate covered strawberry. The girls at the front were very helpful and sweet. I would for sure come back.
Dina G — Google review
Brew Ha Ha has provided me with my first great gluten free experience ever. Tried the carrot cake, devils food, and yellow cake balls which were very good. Let them come to room temp for the best overall taste. The frozen matcha was a different take on matcha for me, more or less a matcha slurpee. Nice. Best gluten free cookie, I've ever had. Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. Awesome flavor and wonderful texture. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
Barry E — Google review
Super cool place. Deceiving on the outside, so you must step in! Coffee is delicious, and the employees are so helpful.
Mileina B — Google review
The food and drinks were great! The staff was very nice as well. Plenty of gluten free dessert options.
Matt H — Google review
The coffee is really bad. I had the brewed coffee twice and the americano once and both were watery and had a gross twang to it. I wouldn't criticize normally, but it's a coffee shop and I would prefer it and expect it to have good coffee. Secondly, there is no prices. That drives me nuts. I would like to know how much everything costs before I order.
Hannah S — Google review
They have amazing coffee flavors and the customer service is top tier. i have been in the store a few times and have been serviced by different baristas. Every time I come, the barista was super helpful, patient and kind.

came in cause I was in town for the morning & wanted something sweet to take back. the reviews were very high for desserts & i was happy to see there was also coffee. I got an iced spiced chai with almond milk that was made perfectly & a couple of cake balls. ive only had the chocolate chip one, which was highly recommended by the staff & it was delicious! soo excited to try the other 2 flavors they packed for me. anyways - a very satisfying spot to pass by for, for coffee & sweets imo and the customer service was great. i will be back. get the wedding cake & chocolate chip cake pop, you wont regret it y'all.
Chelsea H — Google review
I came to this place for the first time today. My husband bought the cake pops from here a few times before and today I went there with him. I didn't expect the ambiance at this place. It was so peaceful. It has the vibes of where people can come to sit around and do their work or have simple work meet or so. I had their iced mocha and my husband had dirty chai - spicy both are right on spot. Loved them. Coming to the cakeballs (cakepops), there are so many flavors. We got a dozen of them with 6 different flavors and all of them were such a hit with my girls. They were asking when can we go back. So need to plan to go back... this place is worth it.

Rêve Coffee Lab is a specialty coffee shop that aims to create a space where people can share their stories. They roast their own coffee in-house, and you can enjoy it hot in-store or by purchasing whole coffee beans. Rêve Coffee Lab also offers flavored lattes for everyone, regardless of what kind of coffee they prefer.
Good espresso drinks and snacks. I had a very nicely balanced Colombian cappuccino. Very nice vibe at this place, and polite baristas. Filter coffee is OK, but I am rating in a strict way - I’m comparing with the best roasters in the world. For most people coffee will be great. It’s worth it coming here for a good cup of coffee with a croissant/sandwich, and a very nice vibe. Situated near a very calm and neat residential neighborhood. Perkins Row plaza is nearby.
Aleksandr A — Google review
I've heard good things about this place. Their menu has a good variety of coffee options and specialties neatly laid on a clipboard. I wound up getting a cantina blue (espresso, milk, blueberry layer, and butter pea flower), which tasted pretty good to be honest. The bottom layer had a good blueberry taste to it. There isn't that much seating inside because it's a small interior and lots of students studying. At the back side of the coffee bar, there is some bar seating. With the circular seating at the tree, there is a row of outlets and some by the walls. However, if it's sunny and nice (not raining), I recommend sitting outside for a chat.
Maggie H — Google review
Stopped in for a quick stop and got a Nola. I didn’t know they have an extensive menu I just ordered whatever is on the wall. Drink was great, not sweet not bitter it’s perfect for a hot day. The amount of ice and the size of the ice is perfect. The interior has a nice vibe and im suprised to find this place in BR. Bonus time they have a wall water filter machine to fill up your bottles with!
C W — Google review
This café has a lot of charm and potential, it’s in a great area and has a cozy, local feel. The matcha lattes are delicious and very affordable, and I love that they serve them in real glass cups when you’re not taking it to go such a nice touch! The free filtered water station is another thoughtful bonus. The only downside is that the place could use a bit more regular cleaning. The barista and self-service stations were messy, the floors and walls looked like they haven’t had a good scrub in a while, and the restroom wasn’t very clean either. It’s a great little spot that just needs some extra upkeep to match the quality of the drinks and atmosphere. With a bit more attention to cleanliness, it could easily be a favorite in the neighborhood.
Yessenia G — Google review
From the moment I walked in, Re’ve Coffee Lab delivered on every front. The Golden Days was pure bliss—bright, comforting, and layered with flavor. I savored every sip and already knew I’d be back. The next day, I tried the Snomelt, and it was just as delightful—rich and indulgent with a playful twist. And can we talk about those egg pockets? So yummy. The perfect savory companion to the drinks, with a freshness that made me feel like the whole menu had been crafted with love. Re’ve isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s an experience.

If i had to pick my favorite coffee shop in Baton Rouge, i would be spending a long time debating between here (Reve) and Lighthouse Coffee. Amazing pastries. Baked fresh all the time. Amazing coffee. Strong wifi. Friendly service. The one and only downside is, it’s too popular and crowded. It’s hard to find a seat. I would appreciate bigger and non shakey desks but it’s not a problem. A strong wifi makes it up.
Mizzu C — Google review
It took 25 minutes to get two take out coffees.. no pastries left at 10:50 but would not allow us to order lunch ( that started at 11). We got back in line and ordered one turkey sandwich and did not receive it until 11:45 (in the meantime my other daughter and I went across the street, ordered two delicious bagels sandwiches and ate them). We found the staff rude, slow and sarcastic. We will definitely skip this place next time.. there are too many other great places with friendly service.
Christine — Google review
The aesthetic of this place is cute and cozy. It was quiet despite it being packed, so it seems like a nice place for people to get work done/to read peacefully. This place has dog bowls outside, so it does seem pet friendly. I recommend that you sit in the patio area since it is properly shaded and contributes to the cozy/peaceful feeling. The baked goods were okay and the coffee was also just okay. I don't think I will order their simple drip coffee again because it did not go down smooth. Even so, I will come back to try their other drinks since maybe they'll be more plesant.

Excellent strength and flavor latte. I came specifically to this coffee shop for their cozy outdoor patio as it was a perfect day for being outside. Wish they’d offer more savory bites - wraps, bowls, sandwiches. All the food offerings I saw were mostly sweet - biscottis, cookies, cakes, and muffins.

First time guest and definitely going back. Ambience is serene, especially the patio (with ceiling fans...thank you). The espresso was robust and smooth. Y'all have a good thing going.

Spacious cafe with nice ambient music. The coffee is good too. They have a small outdoor seating area that is shaded and is great when it is not raining hard. The parking might be a bit hard to find.

This little shop has a great atmosphere inside and out. The outdoor area is well lit and the wall of greenery gives you some privacy even though it’s right next to the street. It’s a great little shop and I’ll be coming here more. Oh and the coffee is good to!

Coffee Call is a beloved coffeehouse located in a bustling shopping center near -10. For over 30 years, it has been a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. The cafe roasts its own beans, ensuring rich and strong coffee with chicory notes. Their signature cafe au lait pairs perfectly with freshly made beignets or beignet fingers that are fried to order, hot, and chewy.
On a road trip with my family and just passing through Louisiana but i desperately wanted to try a bienget. This shop isn't far off the I10. They were busy and making them fresh! They have plenty of seating and a shaker of powder sugar on eat table! They were delicious. Piping hot and covered in powdered sugar. They were fully cooked and nice and fluffy. 4.50 for 3 is a steal!

My grandmother used to bring me here as a kid and I always loved it. I returned with my wife and daughter for a little dose of nostalgia. Definitely not disappointed. Same charm and quality from when I was a kid. Definitely my go to stop in Baton Rouge for beignet's and ice coffee.

Such a delightful café with French-style pastries called beignets — they’re absolutely heavenly! You can easily spend the whole day here; it’s a perfect spot for freelancers, collaborations, or just relaxing with a cup of coffee. The vibe is cozy and inspiring, and the beignets are out of this world. Plus, it’s open until 10 p.m. — such a lovely place to spend an evening here in Louisiana ✨
Zenaya K — Google review
Coffee Call was so good, I found myself back the very next morning! What started as a quick stop for a classic beignet and café au lait turned into a full-on food experience. During my first visit, I ended up trying the turkey po’ boy and a comforting bowl of chicken noodle soup—and I’m so glad I did. A kind server walked me through the steps of building my perfect po’ boy, which made the experience feel extra personalized. After that, I joined the line to place an order for the beignets, and let me tell you—they were pillowy, warm, and just the right amount of sweet. They were so good, I came back the next morning to grab another batch to take home! The overall vibe at Coffee Call is relaxed and inviting. The pace is calm, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, don’t hesitate to give this place a try. It’s a Baton Rouge staple for a reason!

Like the beignet here. But some recently visiting made me disappointed. I bought a chilli soup and I just want a bowl to heat it up. The cashier lady Linsey (I dont know name spell correct or not) tell me to wait for her to finish customer line (long line) behind me, then she will get me a bowl. This is not the first time she did it to me. Why she couldn't grab a bowl for me immeadiatly? Is is because I'm an Asian? Complained to supervisor and have the answer that they are busing so that they cant get a bowl. I have to ask another girl to get me that bowl. No respect, no come back
Cherry B — Google review
This is one of my favorite places in the world. When last I lived in Baton Rouge, Coffee Call was in the same shopping center where the Wal Mart is now. Obviously not that large, but it was larger. This site retains the style and charm of the older shop. Fresh coffee, beignets, hot chocolate, beignets -- the menu is longer than that, but without the tortuous specificity of that place with the evil mermaid. You go here for a good cup of coffee and a conversation with friends, or to read a good book, or work a crossword puzzle in the paper. There is no place like it in the world and I feel happier just knowing it exists. You should spend some time there, really. You'll be happier if you do.

We wanted coffee on our way oit of Baton Rouge so we stopped here. It seems like a nice local coffee shop. Everyone was nice. We had 2 coffees and 2 orders of beignets. The bignets are a nice size. They were making them as we waited.

At Coffee Joy, you'll find a range of brewing techniques to satisfy both casual sippers and coffee nerds. The shop's homemade pastries and baked goods are a sweet addition to an impeccable brew, while the digital timer ensures you know how long to steep your tea.
Tamkan was an amazing barista. He was pleasant to talk with and checked in that we were enjoying our coffee and baklava. We ordered a mocha latte and a mocha pistachio latte. We drank every last drop. I'm currently searching for the best pistachio drink and found it here! The pistachio baklava was exquisite. The atmosphere was enjoyable and inspiring for us (future decoration projects in mind). Soft music plays while a few people studied or enjoyed a coffee break. We would visit again.

Coffee Joy is a true gem in Baton Rouge! I stopped in during a recent visit and was so impressed—I came back a second time. The coffee here is simply next level—rich, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. What truly sets Coffee Joy apart, though, is the hospitality. Tamkan is not only incredibly friendly, but you can also feel his passion for coffee in every interaction. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff makes you feel right at home. They also offer great specials and a solid variety of breakfast options to pair with your drink. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop in. Coffee Joy isn't just another coffee shop—it’s an experience.

They recently added baklava to their menu! I'm from Türkiye and know the best baklava, and this is some of the best, and it's in Baton Rouge! A little taste of home in every bite. Can't forget about all the other things on the menu!!! Too many to list, but the baklava is top knotch 👌🇹🇷❤️
Tamkan K — Google review
Stopped by on our way out of town - no drive thru for those wondering. This coffee shop is so cute with amazing decorations. Plenty of space while still feeling quaint and homey. Their matcha was SO good. Me and my fiancé adored it. The reason for only 4/5 stars (4.5 really is I could) is because the prices and portion. We got a square baklava which was $3.30 before tax and not only was it so small, it came in this huge bag and container. I know baklava takes a lot of work but at my local baker back home it’s the same portion size for $2.25. But that is literally our only feedback as everything else was amazing! I almost forgot to mention how friendly and attentive the service was. It’s like they were ready for us to walk through the door 😊. Wish we got to try it again while in Baton Rouge to see if their breakfast sandwich or gyro salad was any good. Edit: I updated my review to 5 stars instead of 4 because my fiancé let me have the tiny last bite of the baklava and it was amazing, better than the ones I have back home for sure. I just couldn’t get past the price. I guess next time I come I’ll have to bring my dad so he can pay haha.

Everything was delicious and fresh, especially the baklava! Very clean, cozy, and friendly place – highly recommend!

This coffee shop was so quiet!! I loved it! They were not blaring extremely loud music and people weren't talking loudly for the most part. It was a great environment to get work done in and I would definitely come again. The coffee does not have a burnt flavor that a lot of local roasters have. The food has a cute presentation and the servers are nice! The only issue I have found is that their bathroom is horrifying. It doesn't match the rest of the atmosphere.

Nestled within the vibrant Electric Depot, a transformed power plant from the early 1900s, City Roots Coffee Bar is a must-visit destination for coffee lovers and casual visitors alike. This charming café boasts an industrial-bohemian vibe, featuring honeycomb tile floors, lush greenery, exposed brick walls, and rustic wooden tables illuminated by stylish light fixtures. The thoughtful design creates an inviting atmosphere perfect for everything from business meetings to leisurely coffee catch-ups or focused study sessions.
Was one of the first customers here on a Sunday Morning. The cashier lady was very cute and friendly and even asked how I was (I was an absolute train wreck). I ordered a chai latte and bought some other things from the display shelf. Before I could string a coherent sentence together my Chai Latte was ready. I took a seat @ the 4top on the NW corner of the cafe and chugged my hot chai latte then left. Vibes immaculate.

I was on the road so I looked for a new place or something local, I ended up here at City Roots and I dig the vibes. Seems great for remote work, quiet music, low noise when the roaster isn’t on. I was greeted promptly and I ordered the Espresso Cielo. Drink was hand crafted and really tasty. There’s inside and outside seating. Inside holds about 30 people. Free WiFi , food, and craft beer round out the menu. The only gripe was not finding it. From the road there is a lot for the electric depot. The facade of the building just looks like an office. You have to walk around the back.

one of my favorite work spots in br. really vibey, dark atmosphere with a really great drink menu. espresso tends to be a bit strong for my taste, but overall i’ve never been disappointed in a drink. they have pretty decent matcha too! tends to be crowded, but it’s really a testament to how great city roots is!

I love this place. The people remember you, are so friendly and they make some really good match and coffee! This place is a little sentimental to me and my fiancé now too. It was our first "date" spot, and now we go every weekend (going on our wedding morning too). If you are just visiting, I recommend and if you are from here I recommend. Basically just come.

First time trying Crème Brûlée Latte. Initially, I was concerned it might be overly sweet due to the caramel and vanilla flavors. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the perfect balance between the delicate sweetness of the crème brûlée topping and the rich, robust flavor of the freshly brewed coffee beans. The caramel and vanilla notes complement the espresso beautifully without overpowering it, creating a smooth and sophisticated taste experience. The latte’s creamy texture paired with a subtle caramel used sugar crust on top adds a delightful contrast that makes each sip uniquely satisfying. City Roots Coffee Bar clearly puts care into both the quality of their coffee beans and the craftsmanship behind each beverage. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

The atmosphere here was very warm and cozy.. They offered for a sample before I made my choice. I ordered the mango sorbet. It was a nice and sweet frozen treat with a very satisfying texture to it. Very fruity. 😋🤤

The friendly staff were very helpful in my decision of what drink (hibiscus/lemonade) to have with my delicious Piazza Panini, which I easily indulged in the Roasted Pistachio Gelato afterwards. It’s so refreshing to find an authentic Italian place in Baton Rouge! The atmosphere is cozy and the employees are kind, welcoming, and hard-working. The food was absolutely delicious! We got veggie pizza, lasagna, and the French onion soup. Their coffee was better than any place I’ve ever had. We can’t wait to come back to try their breakfast and gelato, they have so many flavors to try! Definitely come here to support a local business <3

Cute little cafe in a strip mall of other stores, the gelato was a little icy but the coffee was really good, I got the gingerbread latte. They also have pop up bakery’s that come periodically, I would be interested in that for sure ! There is food here as well.

Small Italian Cafe. Gelato, coffees, sandwiches and Italian dishes. I enjoyed a Mango sorbet as others in the party chose the dairy gelato. Every dish was empty. The food dishes smelled wonderful as they brought them to other customers. I spied on a flatbread and it looked kickin. I will have to come with my family to try the flatbread. I wished they had cannolli but do have a cannolli flavored cannolli . One person in the party commented that the hot sandwiches are good.

I get La Divina often for lunch and all has been amazing. This visit was beyond. Disappointing. The pizza was served on sliced bread instead of pizza crust and was beyond soggy. We also got spaghetti and meatballs and the meat balls were so dry and crumbly and the sauce had nothing but a can taste. If I didn’t have them before and know the potential I would never return. Not to mention I bought a soda and it was expired in the beginning of February.

Such a cute little beignet cafe in a quiet plaza. The frozen café au lait is perfectly sweet and a great companion to the hot and fresh beignets. This store is run by friendly and hardworking staff - they're open 364 days a year (only taking Christmas off), so you can get your fried dough and coffee fix almost any day of the year. The tables are nice and clean even though they serve fried dough covered in powdered sugar. There's local art for sale on the walls and a cute little piano in the corner. The Vintage Baton Rouge is a popular spot that has gained attention due to its history with Cafe du Monde and Morning Call. After a fierce bidding war, Cafe du Monde secured the building lease, leaving Morning Call searching for a new location. Despite this, other bright spots like Vintage on Magazine Street and the New Orleans Coffee & Beignet Company continue to thrive. The Vintage remains an intriguing destination in Baton Rouge, offering a unique experience for visitors.
Cute little coffee shop downtown. Wife wanted the best biegnets in the state, so we were told to go here. Fresh, warm right out the oven with lots of powdered sugar yummieness. First of all, I ordered a croissant that was dry and hard and clearly has just been sitting out in open container as I saw the employee pull it out from there, secondly, since our order was to go order, it wasn’t until I got in the car and pulled off that I noticed that they gave us empty hard beignets!!!! Amazing service, quite & laid back. The food is delicious. I ordered the avocado cheeseburger is just about devoured the entire thing if it wasn't for the crispy sweet potato fries that filled me up! The Coffee Bean Cafe is a nice and casual spot to get a great breakfast at a reasonable price. The people here are extremely friendly and offer great service. The food is prepared fresh when you order and comes out very quickly. Place your order, fix your beverage and have a seat. Before you know it your hot meal is ready. They also have outside seating available. A good place to eat.
Louis E — Google review
Great food. The lunch service has lots to choose from and everything was great. I especially like the house chips. The price to food ratio is also a great value.
Benjamin L — Google review
If you haven’t visited this adorable cafe, you need to stop by for breakfast or lunch! The food is fresh and delicious. They have some pastries as well.. the cheese danishes and big blueberry muffins are amazing! All of the chicken sandwiches are great, and their fries are delish. The woman who runs the place does basically everything out front and she is sweet and helpful.
Candace S — Google review
Omelette was delicious and filling.Meat was cooked well and the bacon was crunchy.Wish the hash brown had more crunch, but it was ok. The Mocha Frappuccino was tasty.Looking forward to trying more! Update Tried their lunch food and was very disappointed. Fried fish was fishy, smh.I just gave it to my dog.The fried shrimp was good.Fries were soggy and not packaged properly(they put the fried fish and shrimp on top of the fries). The tortilla soup was an assault on my taste buds.Very putrid and overwhelming. It looked like thick slop.Nothing soupy about it at all.Burger is a nice size ,but the jalapeño bun was falling apart. I will just stick to their breakfast food.

This breakfast was legit! Nice, quiet place to come enjoy a good, filling breakfast! The grits were the perfect consistency! Will definitely be back!

Nestled within a multi-level medical building, A&J’s Coffee Bean Café is an unexpected delight for those seeking a quick meal alongside their daily caffeine fix. This charming café offers a diverse menu featuring everything from hearty breakfast burritos and sandwiches to fresh salads, making it an ideal spot for both breakfast and lunch. The aroma of gourmet coffee greets you as you enter, promising a delightful experience.
Nice selection of breakfast & lunch. Never see this kind of menu in a hospital. Very reasonably priced. They also have daily lunch specials. The food was all restaurant quality in taste, too.
Erin M — Google review
Food is always amazing and staff is always smiling! Cheeseburger is a solid go to any day of the week. Pho on some Fridays is the best pho I have had in town and even puts to shame some I have had in NYC! Highly recommend if they have it to order some.
Corey M — Google review
I would have never expected a delicious, inexpensive breakfast inside a hospital! I had the breakfast special, and the portions were generous at the amazing price of $7.95. Service was friendly (the owner brought my food to me upon noticing my cane), and the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. A real hidden gem in BR!
Jeremy D — Google review
Only because of these reviews did we find this gem of a restaurant. You would not expect a great little restaurant inside a multi level medical building! But indeed it's there (on the main level). We could smell it when walking into the building. Food is cooked to order, and is not only tasty, but plentiful. We were very happy, and would not hesitate to go again. Great little place for breakfast or lunch with a little Creole if you're interested. Friendly service with a smile 😁

This is our 5th surgery at the Surgical Center, & the food is Always Outstanding. The owner, Anna is always Helpful & smiling. Never disappointed with ANY food from there.
Meredith B — Google review
Plenty of drink options including coffees! I was surprised at how many items were on the menu. I had a breakfast sandwich that I enjoyed and didn't have to wait long. plenty of seating and a TV to keep you distracted. Definitely made my long wait at the surgery center much easier.
Rhett C — Google review
It’s very hard to gage a business when the owner or employee (man) was very rude. I hate spending money in places where the customer can’t even be acknowledged or thanked for spending my hard earned money. First and last visit no matter how good the product.
Stephanie B — Google review
I have tried every day this week to get a king cake, every time I call/ show up I am told I can’t pay until they are delivered. And was told they are only delivered 7-8 on mondays and 2-3 on fridays. And that is when you can purchase since they are first com first serve. It’s now 12 and are already sold out to the 28 but yet they still won’t let me order ahead. It’s not worth the haste over 3 king cakes. TRASH COUSTOMER SERVICE.

PJ’s Coffee, a New Orleans-based coffee chain established in 1978, has expanded to 90 locations, including five in Baton Rouge. The menu features a variety of house-roasted coffees, organic teas, specialty espresso drinks, and seasonal offerings like bananas foster cold foam cold brew and pumpkin latte. Additionally, the location at Shaw Center for the Arts offers an array of dining options. Customers have praised the outstanding customer service provided by staff members like Ms.
I have to say that I was really impressed. I ordered my coffee and hot food. Ms Jessica I believe was ah mazing!! She not only helped me, but gave outstanding customer service. When I go back, I will definitely be looking for her. PJs you have a keeper in her. Of course with all associates, please treat her well. She is so deserving of this accolade!! Great job, great service, great product.

Good for a place instead a hospital. I've been there twice so far and will go there again. Their pre-made sandwiches aren't always great but can be good. Their oven is small and cannot fit a lot of pizzas/wraps at once but they work fast. Nice people.

PJs in Zachary is a great place to hang out. It’s comfortable with lots of separate seating areas. Their staff is friendly and their drinks are always great! Their beignets are also delish!!

Simple Joe Cafe is the perfect place to kickstart your day with a delightful cup of coffee and scrumptious breakfast options. From classic tall pancake stacks to Southern grits, there's something for everyone, including healthy choices for gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan diets. The casual and welcoming atmosphere, adorned with local art, adds to the charm of this Baton Rouge gem.
Simple Joe is an old school diner feel. This environment is a Baton Rouge staple. Everything was flawless in our experience other than ordering - the individual taking our order looked absolutely thrilled to be working. We enjoyed the ambience, the chefs were absolutely classic and super friendly. Definitely either get a pancake or French toast to go with your breakfast. I ordered the Salmon omelette with bacon and toast. The pancakes were the hit, so fluffy and did not weigh on your stomach. Hashbrowns were old school southern and traditional along with the sausage biscuits and gravy. Give it a shot for a classic Americana breakfast in a delightful hole in the wall. 🥓 🥞
Luke H — Google review
They don’t take 100 if you use in cash and it’s very busy around 12 o’clock Saturday Sunday because that’s when normally everybody comes out to eat. The pancake soaks in the syrup, making it more like a bread cake everything is cooked. Very fresh made to order. Bacon was good. They also sell art by local artists updating it every couple months or so, depending on when the art comes in. They also have three different kinds of coffee such as Creole and decaf and Simatra. They also have iced tea, sweet tea, and water if you want it. food overall 4.5/5 service overall 4.9/5 Atmosphere 4.8/5 overall 4.8/5 they even have seating outside if you can’t sit inside. They even have cool designs designs on the table like Star Wars, cars, monster trucks, New York, and LSU.

The food was amazing. The grits are the best I have had in quite awhile. I ordered scrambled eggs and whatever the seasoning was it was delicious. Definitely will visit again and order the w Exact same thing
Carlos A — Google review
This place is very popular with the locals which is exactly what you want in a good breakfast place. Its counter serve and there is a healthy line. It seemed like tables cleared as new people checked out though so there was a place to sit if you wanted it. I had the biscuits and gravy which were fantastic. I also got a croissant breakfast sandwich. I ended up saving that and reheating the next morning. It was very good too!

When we left The Queen, it’s was 7:30AM. We were both hungry for breakfast, but not interested in Waffle House, so I did a quik search of the area and opted for the Simple Joe Cafe. They have a self-serving counter, where you stand in line, give your order, pay, get a number for your table, fix your drink, and find a place to sit. They weren’t extremely busy so we got a table with no problem. I loved the energy in this place. It felt very friendly and had a close-nit neighborhood vibe. I can tell they have a lot of regulars. The only things I can really complain about are 1. It was pricier than what I expected, but everything is nowadays. 2. The young gentleman who rang us up seemed a little rude and I really didn’t care for his attitude. He didn’t say anything wrong, he just didn’t make us feel welcomed. He definitely didn’t match the vibe in this place because he wasn’t friendly at all. Compared to the rest of the experience, he stuck out like a sore thumb. As for the food, I got the two egg scrambled breakfast with grits, bacon, and French toast. The eggs and grits were amazing but I didn’t care for the French toast at all!! This is the first time I’ve had grits at a restaurant that makes them the same as I do, using milk and real butter. They were cooked to perfection…they were soooo good! We both agreed to stop here again the next time we’re in the area. Though I’d usually give 3 stars, especially bc of the unwelcoming attitude I received, everything else made up for that so I added an extra one.

Great little diner. Was travelling through and this was a perfect stop. Great biscuits and gravy. Great pancakes. Worth the diversion off the hwy.
Jason R — Google review
i been coming here for years, and lately, the place is becoming disappointing. the food is very bland nowadays, and the customer service is not great. no longer feels like a welcoming atmosphere. fast fwd to today, i got my usual (shrimp and grits) to go. i almost finish my food and i find plastic wrap in my food. i thought it was a bell pepper or onion, but nope. a long strip of plastic. i’m disgusted. i feel sick, and now my stomach hurts. probably won’t come back. they refunded me, but this just made me feel sick.

Located on the top floor of Baton Rouge City Hall, Troy's Coffee Shop is a great place to get quality coffee during the workday. The prices are affordable and the portions are large. The food is delicious, and the cornbread is especially notable.
The Best Kept Secret ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ City Hall 10th Floor In a world of overpriced, underwhelming cold, cuts, wraps, and smoothies... This was the best part of JURY DUTY! The service was wonderful. The price was $7.00 even! The portion is huuuuggeee! The food is delicious 🤤 The food was excellent. The cornbread was glazed with butter and slightly sweet fluffy and just delicious!!!! Thank you!

Small place on the top floor of City Hall. Serves the basics for breakfast and lunch as well as chips, drinks, and some dessert. They also have daily specials. Really great view of the river, just wish they'd open up the balcony doors on nice days. Usually closes at noon on Fridays.
