The 50 best restaurants to have dinner in Leipzig

We found it on the Google Maps and give it a go! The restaurant itself was underground and it was beautiful, lots painted walls and painted columns! The food itself was not really that great but is pretty good with portions. The lamb shoulder I ordered was pretty bland. We were going to order some dessert but our waitress was no where to be found for 10 minutes. We lost the appetite when she finally shows up!

I've always wanted to visit this famous place, and today I finally had the chance since I was out in the city for some errands and decided to have lunch there. We visited just before 2 PM, and since it was a quiet time with fewer customers, we were able to get seated immediately. The peaceful and calm atmosphere made for a relaxing meal and good conversation. Thanks to that, we didn’t have to wait or make a reservation, which was very convenient. However, after being shown to our seats, it took about 10 minutes before we could place our order. The appetizer (soup) was served approximately 25 minutes later, and the main dishes arrived about 30 minutes after that. Altogether, from being seated to receiving our main courses, it took nearly an hour. Fortunately, we had plenty of time today, but if you’re on a tight schedule, I recommend planning accordingly and arriving with extra time. The staff was polite, the food was delicious, and the portions were very generous. The interior had warm colors and a clean, well-organized feel, which added to the pleasant atmosphere.

This is an old German restaurant in the heart of Leipzig. According to urban legend, it's mentioned in Goethe's immortal Faust. It's advisable to make a reservation, although we were able to find a seat. I really liked the ambiance and service, but the food could have been better.

I went there based on the reviews. Honestly the food portions are huge me & my wife ordered 2 veal schnitzel plates and I believe one was enough with an appetiser perhaps. Now the atmosphere inside was quite chic and the waiters were quite nice however, it was definitely over priced and there was a rusty smell inside that would not make you comfortable to stay for long. Keep in mind you would pay for almost anything. I paid 2€ for tap water for 2 cups !! and 2€ to take the leftovers as takeaway which was completely weird for me !! And to top it off using the bathroom was 0.5€ per visit can you imagine this !!!. I would honestly think there are way cheaper places to try the same dish in Leipzig than this one, definitely a touristic trap!!

The boar steak, the Blauklaut and Knodels were absolutely delicious. Also the atmosphere and themes are breathtakingly memorable. If you are in Leipzig, you must visit here!

We do not recommend Auerbachs Keller's vegetarian dishes to vegetarians. The main courses were a big disappointment! We were very curious based on the reviews and to try the restaurant. We did not have a reservation on Saturday evening, but after a few minutes of waiting we got a free table. We knew that mainly meat dishes "go" in the restaurant. However, there were some vegetarian main courses on the online menu, so we were happy to try them. The employees were very nice. The soups were delicious (but extremely overpriced - a small cup is 9-9.50 Euros). Ok. So be it! The cellar is nice! But for the 23 Euro vegetarian main courses to be just stewed greens with a little pasta or cream? Outrageous and underrated! German vegetarian cuisine is much more than that! This visit was a bad gastronomic experience and a waste of money for us. There is no service, if the food is bad!

I love German food, and the one here is amazing. I was so obsessed with the cabbage (served with Schweinshaxe) that I asked the waiter how to cook it at home. Hopefully, I’ll manage. The beer is delicious too. I’ll definitely come back if I visit beautiful Leipzig again 💕

The place deserves a 4, the service a 5, and the food is below 4. The risotto wasn’t creamy enough, but the flavors were fine and harmonized well. The dessert was the most disappointing: the mozzarella roll wasn’t sweet enough, and the pistachio ice cream had a fake almond or marzipan-like taste and felt cheap. The spaghetti ice cream was melted, so it ended up being just a foamy, simple ice cream with strawberry syrup and almond flakes. I think overpriced.

The food is average, nothing special at all. Service is decent. The vibe is nice, but the restaurant is extremely overpriced for what you get.

Love this place! The service is always spectacular and the staff speaks English, which is so kind and accommodating. It makes for the perfect place to bring our friends and family who are visiting the city. Everything on the menu is delicious and the portion sizes are generous. Atmosphere is cozy chic in every corner and I love that they allow doggies while accommodating their needs. Make your reservation a few days in advance if you can. This is a popular spot. 10 stars!

Haxe and Gulasch are soooo delicious!!! Their sauer beer is also Special und tasty!! Great food and drinks ! Super friendly staffs !! We give five stars plus on them !!!

Magic. And underpriced. Leipzig has only few really satisfying upscale foody-food places. This is one of them. Visiting in October, we had a seasonal slow-food set menu with autumny dishes like turnip soup, cabbage and pork. This may sound based, but the nice people at Max Enk make this a taste adventure and pair it with five local (Saxon and Saale-Unstrut) wines. The staff was not only friendly but incredibly attentive, knowledge and witty. We had a full set menu with additional starters, the full set of accompanying wines, coffee, pralines, and a spirit - for 160 Euros. Way too cheap.

We’ve checked online reservation web and it’s all fully booked , luckily we wrote an email and also making phone call, then we got our seats ! We had the Max Menu 79€ , the rote bete carpaccio is very interesting idea combine with baked fish , but maybe personal taste , I didn’t feel quite matching ! The beef soup is nice and light , the fish and the Duck breast are well done !! 👏 Dessert is also nice ! Service is rather cold from the beginning but gets better afterwards! Some waitress are a bit shy though ! I guess Max Enk must have ambition to get the Michelin award , keep on and go for it ! I think if the service team can make some better adjustments, and I am sure you will have it soon !!

Food was great. Service was good up to the wine choice. Wine was extremely disappointing. We looked up the wine which is available in the uk. Which made us convinced that our assessment of the wine delivered was that it was wrong. This was refuted by the restaurant manager who would not change it without us paying again for another bottle. So, we had to accept it l, so we poured the wine into the wine cooler so that it could not be resold to an unsuspecting customer. Sad end to an otherwise very good meal. On this experience we have decided to move on from Leipzig as soon as possible tomorrow rather than spend anymore time in the city. A tragic end to this part of our journey.

Great place to be and to eat. In a calm and cozy courtyard near Leipzig town center. Very nice and friendly staff - attentive and discreet. An upscale place to stay for some hours. Food is extra-ordinary good - one of the best steaks I ever had: medium rare as ordered and buttery on the tongue. Prices are a bit higher but fitting the high class service and food.

One of the best diner I’ve had in a while! The truffe pasta were perfect, the beef filet was as tender as it could be and the desert was very good. Service is professional and nice. Location is great, in the center of the city. Definitely worth trying the “Der max cocktail”.

I love their high ceiling! I’ve been there many times. The service is good and the food is delicious overall. Waiters and waitresses made efforts of speaking English too which I appreciated.

Food was great, the wine pairing was not so good for our taste but this is always subjective, but the service was mediocre.Plates were taken or brought, without a word, half of the ingredients of each plate were not presented, waiting times even for ordering were not Michelin star appropriate. Environment and cutlery were not corresponding to the price. Vegetarian menu should not have the same price as the standard one, as the price of the ingredients is not comparable. Compared to other Michelin restaurants we have visited during our stay in Leipzig it was a disappointment.

So once in a while you have a Wow! experience in a restaurant. This was such an experience. Fantastic, exciting flavors in every single dish. Afterwards we were allowed to visit the kitchen and met the Chef. Kitchen spotlessly clean, staff wearing clean aprons, Chef welcoming and proud on his food. This is what fine dining is supposed to be!

Very nice place. Probably the best food that I have tried in Leipzig. The atmosphere though is a little too sterile and old-fashioned for me. The cuttlery is old and cheap and for a Michellin star restaurant I expected something more. The service was also not at the high level that I expected. If you want to spend this amount of money, I will recommend the place only for the good food.

A BIG thank you to the C'est la vie restaurant for saving our New Years Eve. We arrived in Leipzig without a dinner reservation. C'est la vie Responded to our online dinner reservation request and we had a wonderful time. The staff is first rate and the food w/wine pairing was outstanding. I recommend C'est la vie without hesitation!

I like the food and service there. The waiters and waitresses tried their best to speak English with me (which is not common in Leipzig). I very much appreciated it.

C'est la vie is my favorite French restaurant outside of France. While perhaps one or two two- or three-starred Michelin restaurants in Paris may have had slightly more memorable food, the overall experience of the warm welcome, outstanding food and wine, and professional yet friendly service make this an outstanding restaurant. The fish and seafood dishes are particularly exemplary. Like most outstanding French restaurants, dinner is a three-hour or so affair, so plan to make an evening of it. The staff speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about the food and wine choices. With a four-course price of 80 Euros, C'est la vie delivers outstanding value. In my opinion, dinner here alone is well worth a trip to Leipzig, though the city offers several other attractions to warrant a visit.

This place is a beautiful gem in Leipzig. The interior is elegant and inviting, yet not stiff. The size of the restaurant is neither too big nor too small, it has a nice sense of familiarity. We ordered the Menü Amélie (one of three available menus), and each dish tasted phenomenal and was beautifully arranged with precision; as we could look into the kitchen a bit, we found that the cooks partially used tweezers to arrange the plate. The wine went excellent with the different dishes, and the sommelière explained more about its origin. The personnel was kind and very attentive, yet no too formal. We would like to thank the restaurant for a wonderful experience and we will surely come again.

Incredible food. Interesting wine pairings,but I wish the pours were a bit bigger or that she topped our glasses up. I had to ration my wine to make sure I didn't run out. Ask for main room as side room felt a bit isolated.

We visited the restaurant in 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed the 2 Hat Restaurant but unfortunately it closed. We returned to the "Heavenly" bar but unfortunately other than the view, the uniqueness, the ambience, the Falcons... have all been replaced by a disinterested, soulless, employee that seems to have made it to the top floor by lottery rather than talent or personality. Obnoxiously loud music and lack of any atmosphere meant we spent several minutes only before deciding to adjourn to the Lobby Bar where we enjoyed excellent service, quiet background music and a nice selection of drinks.

I ate there on 22/10/2020. Half of the dishes were very sour and not enjoyable. On top of that, it is extremely expensive (and I've dined in 3 Michelin starred restaurant in Paris before). At first, it seemed like at least the service was good, but as the evening went on the crew got less and less talkative and caring up to a point where I felt they don't really care about me as much as expected. Overall, I left the restaurant with a really bad feeling, like I was scammed. The guy who walked me outside barely said bye and thanks even though I left a 10% tip which is not the standard in Germany and which was 30€. To make things even worse, the cab driver also ripped me off. I don't recommend you going to this restaurant unless you want to go back to your hotel feeling like you want to cry.

Good service, nice view, and somewhat confusing food. It's good and is cooked perfectly, but sometimes there is too much confusion in the dish, with too many different flavor, making it hard to read the dish.

For a special evening I recommend this place !!

I am not sure if I will return. Ambience is great. Food is good. I ordered a chicken pasta, a beer flight, and pretzels with Bavarian butter that was served promptly. However, the servers are very unfriendly. That’s why, the 3 stars. There is a need for the management to train the staff on basic etiquettes.

We were tourists from UK, the staff were welcoming and did their best to help on food and beer options. Found all were really helpful. Really helped that their English was better than our German language. Food is excellent, so on same level as the beer. Also so easy to get to, on the public station.

Deceptively large pub / restaurant, housed in an old railway station, which is well worth a visit, even a detour, if you’re in or around Leipzig. Home to the famous reinvented gose beer, which should bee tried and can be easily worth a flight of the house beers. Main meals are large and very tasty, pork knuckle especially recommended. Service is excellent, friendly and accommodating. We went twice during a week in Leipzig. Seek it out!

Bayerischer Bahnhof offers good German food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The fish dish stood out with its vibrant sour notes from the confit lemon slice. The Goze, a beer from Leipzig, was also excellent. The vibrant food and drink are a refreshing change from the typically heavy German fare.

Amazing level of service and generally friendly atmosphere even for english speaking tourists. Before we left we already knew we will come back there one day again. Food was absolutely on top. Not even mentioning the price, which is lower than some other restaurant and you can clearly tell the quality here is few levels higher.

We were recommended this place by a local and glad we tried it out. It does seem to be very popular and so booking is recommended, although we arrived on spec, the staff were friendly and managed to find us a table near the bar. The beer is very refreshing and compliments the menu very well. The food is good quality, plentiful and a good price. The service we had on the evening was fast and friendly too.

The restaurant is at 29th floor of the building and has a nice panoramic view of the city. We had only a coffee and Käsekuchen for 4€ piece. From the level of the restaurant you can clime to a panoramic platform for 5€ per person. Definitely the restaurant depends more on the view than on serving, a bit overestimated in my opinion. There was strong smell coming out of the kitchen also.

I went to brunch at the panoramic tower in leipzig a few weeks ago and I would not return for brunch. It reminded me of a hotel breakfast and there were long lines waiting for food what was all just in trays. Because if the price I expected it to be something above a continental breakfast. The view is nice and the staff was ok but I think they were undermanned. Drinks were not included in the price of the brunch so I really would not return. Maybe their dinner and other lunches are better but do not go to the brunch. I will not return.

Well, the first let-down was the view. No window seat and we were left to stare at the panorama of a rather mondane wall that did not really warrant coming up a high tower. When confirming our reservation, information about non-availability of window seats would have been refreshing and transparent. Something one can expect from a quality establishment. From there it went downhill. The choice at the buffet was more reminiscent of one of those mass hotels that welcome tourists by the busload - in a different price category obviously. We would have let all this go and just tried to enjoy our time, but there was this battered shrimp tail which they had not fully defrosted. When we pointed this out, we were told this was normal and that it was meant to be served cold. Not even sure if this is safe from a hygiene perspective. At this point we felt that this establishment was taking the Micky and really does not care about their guests having a nice experience. They told us that we are free to leave. Which we did. This place is a tourist trap. Do not fall for it. There are many great places for brunch in Leipzig as we have discovered since. This is not one of them.

We went there for a late lunch and we wasnt disappointed, the food was delicious and the service was fast and the restaurant had perfect views of the city.

Had the carpaccio and the schnitzel. Both were very good, well presented and generously served. Even the potato salad which I usually barely eat was really fine. Everything on the menu looks great and I would love to try something different another time. The service was great, there is an elegance and attention to details unfortunately not commonly found these days. A very pleasant experience and reasonably priced especially for the quality of the food, service and location.

We had to wait for a long time because they forgot our order, but they realized themselves and we didn’t have to tell them which was good. The food was very good. I had a schnitzel and I would highly recommend it.

My Friends and I wanted some Authentic German food since it’s our first time visiting. All I can say is … YES! It’s Authentic and YES! It’s GOOOD! Day tour to Leipzig, and our late lunch stop after visiting the nearby zoo. Very lovely restaurant with lots or varieties and traditional food. We went for the plate of sausages from different parts of Germany. It was really delicious but the portion for us was too big to finish but we tried all of them. I highly recommend trying it and going to the restaurant. The beer was also really good and the service really attentive and polite. Going for a late lunch was not so busy as during normal lunch as it is located in the main square. The prices are acceptable and the quality of food and service are good.

Just one day tour here but so lucky for us can find this restaurant, we’ve had a lovely lunch here!! Nice wine, foods were really tasty, good service, everything was fine.

The place is nicely decorated and there is also a cat walking around the place, which adds a touch of warmth to this restaurant. The waitress' were very polite and nice, even though they forgot about our order and we had to wait for our dishes over 30 minutes. We had two different soups, the goulash soup and black root soup, both were OK and the portions were large. As a main dish we had pasta with fungi and meat, not a star plate. And schnitzel, which was dry and lacked of any taste, so we ate two bites of every dish. A small gesture would be great for the time waiting for our dishes and the food which was barely untouched. Also, a little overpriced.

Wow, what a great place. Great menu, great choice of beers and cocktails. Not expensive at all. Friendly service. Lots of tasty plates to choose from on the menu. And what a superb interior! Great view on the river, on the terrace but also from the inside.

Food was fast and service at times a bit chaotic but friendly when we ordered something, the location is nice but no wow factor here. I ordered the barbecue burger and it was just OK. The cocktails however were really good. One friend ordered the curry fish and he loved it. The others ordered rice nudels with cashews from the Thai menu and they were not impressed.

Second time here and I need to give 5 stars again. Amazing breakfast, coffee and the service is also 5 out of 5. The environment is really cool, will definitely come back often!

I love this place. It can be difficult to get a table sometimes, so I recommend making a reservation. The food is incredibly delicious and original, and the atmosphere is simply wonderful. The prices might be a bit high, but they are always worth it. The service from the waitstaff is very positive, and it’s equally enjoyable whether you’re inside or out in the courtyard.

I had a really good esperience at Münsters. All Dishes were combining different taste and traditions that left be a bit sceptical by ordering, but the outcome was a perfect combination. Staff was superfriendly and the location really nice

The romantic location of our first date. We returned one year later, engaged. Then again recently for our first post-lockdown outing. Warm friendly service, excellent wine and delicious food. Münsters will always be more than a restaurant to us.

We had such a lovely evening at your restaurant. Staff was very friendly, relaxed atmosphere and everyone loved their food. It had a real neighbourly vibe witnessing so many people greeting one another. Only thing to say is that it would be great to have a drinks menu even though the menu changes often, maybe a drinks menu of everything that you always got there such as cocktails and beer, then printing a separate menu for wine whenever it changes.

We always enjoy to go the Munsters and what stands out the most are the owners and their quality of the service which is rare in Leipzig. They also have a nice selection of wine and always keen to help you choose what you can drink. They can improve their selection for vegetarian dishes but we will be back for sure.

It's the worst restaurant that I had ever visited in Germany. We planned to have lunch there but we're told they don't accept credit cards. That was alright until after I was having my beer there and left my wife alone while I went to the washroom when the male waiter told off my wife for taking a used drinks coaster. That was it and I told my wife to leave it and we left after paying the bill for drinks. Take my advise and miss this place in your visit to Leipzig. Does not give a good impression of the locals there with just one incident. 😔

Connected with the central Marktplatz, in a tiny street with other bars and restaurant. Making your way here feel like passing a tunnel Went there just for a drink - Staff was quick and polite. Place had a selection of several beers on the tap (Ur Krostitzer) and from the bottle. Also wide range of wines and cocktails/ fresh lemonades are availabe.

We had Rinderrouladen which were a 10/10 Definitely get it with the Klöße. Service was quick and on point. I recommend it.

I can highly recommend this nice Restaurant. Yes it is a bit more expensive than a standard Restaurant. But you can expect a really good service and Quality of the food. To me, all ingredients were fresh and done with a good know how. The only little improvement suggestion is, that they could give the lamb a few minutes more time to cook. We was there at 27/12. Nice restaurant, with nice food. The waitress who served us, a young lady, was abrupt and when we asked for our bill she said it verbally without bringing us a receipt, we definitely paid more than we should have. And the other lady, who was older, was rude

Zest is not the place to come, if you want to fill your empty stomach. It is to experience a new level of creativity which is rare to see in Leipzig. This vegan restaurant is quite far from center, but it is worth the ride and worth the price. Exquisit vegan restaurant that offers a great selection of starters, main dishes, desserts, home made lemonades, ice cream, wine and cocktails. We sampled only a small selection but found each and everything well balanced, containing a multitude of different tastes and nuances of haut cuisine. For sure a place with going to and have a vegan dinner date. I'm so happy to have found this little gem and will have it on my personal shortlist for Leipzig any day.

Amazing experience from start to finish. The service is welcoming and friendly, the food in sensational and it’s a lovely venue. It’s not cheap but I think for the quality of the food it’s actually great value - a similar experience in any other big European city would cost so much more. Well worth a visit. They have two dining slots, one from 5pm and one from 8pm. We arrived at 5 and spent a very pleasant 3 hours enjoying the food and wine on a sunny summer evening on their pavement tables. A must try in Leipzig, I can’t wait to return!

The food was 5/5, there is no question about that. The service should have been better for the money. You have to wait long to order, no explanation about what you are eating, not asking for new drinks. We were in between two seatings of people and we noticed that they had issues getting everybody seated on time, which lead to the restaurant being full with standing/waiting people. The atmosphere was good and comfortable, however the door towards the toilet leads you outside first. So together with the front door it created a lot of cold air. Something that was pretty uncomfortable.

Favorite place in Leipzig, if not favorite place ever. The food is always amazing, fresh, and an unexpected surprise and combination. You will never be bored as the menu is seasonal and changes monthly. Service is kind, patient, and professional. With a special thank you to the francophone Gastgeber.

Great start, both starters and mains were wonderful, and accompanied by some fabulous wines. But... the mains were cleared, along with the empty wine bottle and after some half hour of waiting to even see a member of staff we gave up on the chance of being offered dessert or another drink and cut short what should have been a wonderful 50th birthday meal, leaving instead with a sense of bitter disappointment. Spent a lot of money for what should have been a great experience only to regret the whole thing.

We arrived at 9.30pm on a Friday evening, the staff first told us it had past last order time. But as we left he came out and called us back in, after he asked the kitchen to prepare for one more table. Another staff came rushing out to move her car so that we could park right outside the restaurant. The food and service were reviewed and awarded by Michelin so I will skip. But I want to wholeheartedly thank all the staff at the restaurant who went out of their way to accommodate us for a late awesome dinner! Danke!!

This restaurant is about 15 min away by tram from Leipzig Main Station (tram #12). The ambience is very nice; as though eating in a friend’s house. The menu is only in German, but our server is very helpful providing a very detailed translation

Warm friendly service. Delicious food, beautifully presented. We had the most delcious Malbec with our meal. Hard to believe this was our first time there since we live very close by. Already looking forward to our next visit.

High expectations surpassed. Not only was the food excellent, the wine list extensive and exciting to read and the service absolutely charming. No, after just a couple of minutes we felt already like regulars, like home and almost as if we had lived in Gohlis ever since. Thank you! Will definitely return.

The first place I dined upon arriving in Leipzig was not disappointing at all. The waiter was welcoming and knowledgeable about food and wine. While the menu wasn't extensive, quantity does not always equate to quality. We were thoroughly pleased with our choice. My entrée was a salad with roasted avocado. I could easily be persuaded to become a vegetarian. The suite was just as delicious.

This restaurant has high ambitions, but for our Friday night dining, they unfortunately fell short. It was a very quiet night, with maybe 3 or 4 tables filled, and two staff in the kitchen and one doing service. Contrary to their website and the ad on the door, they only opened at 19 instead of 18 o'clock. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, and the interior tasteful. Unfortunately, we were somewhat cold, and even after the waiter said they'd turn up the heat, this was not resolved. The food is ambitious, and overall above average. But it does not match their ambitions or their price range: the mustard overpowered the avocado, and the tuna almost a non-entity. The quail egg was fried too long. The same flavor imbalance was obvious in the dim sum, where the semi-dry cherry tomatoes overwhelmed the otherwise interesting, I dare say fascinating, combination of fresh herbs entirely. The associated soy-tomato sauce was thin and weak. The soup was solid, even if the baked rice served an unclear purpose. The most disappointing dish was the Thai curry with halibut. The fish was not just firm, but downright dry and clearly too long in the pan. Fish should not be brittle! And the curry sauce strangely reminded me considerably of the soup before. My company had the duck however, and that was well executed, cooked to the point, and tasty. The dessert was very good. While the cream cheese foam was just slightly grainy (my guess: the white chocolate wasn't well tempered?), the passion fruit, dark chocolate mousse and milk chocolate mousse, and the outstanding cassis coconut layers were very well done indeed. Service was very friendly and professional. Overall, my best guess is that we hit either an unlucky day or the quality has declined since the ratings were awarded.

Just got my portion of sweet in the afternoon and was disappointed 😞. The cinnamon roll "Franzbrötchen" was dry and burnt. They tried to cover it up in a ton of sugar and cinnamon, did not work. And the piece of caramel cheesecake was... Nothing. Maybe a good cake under the cheap caramel sauce but who knows. Man cheesecakes are not that hard, but this was not salty, not crunchy, or very cheesy... Try again please. I am so sorry guys your espresso is so great and delicious but the sweets are not up for the task.

I really liked the design of this café because it’s set in an old house. However, I didn’t like the rusty tables. While they might look authentic, it’s unpleasant to think that you could get cut on them. It also seems unlikely that they can be properly cleaned. I visited on a Sunday morning and had to wait for a table a bit. The coffee was decent, but there are places where it’s made better. The shakshuka was good. It’s a nice place, but with some drawbacks, so I’m giving it 4 stars.

A café with a warm and inviting interior mood, carrying a touch of antique charm while maintaining a unique atmosphere. I visited quite late in the day, so I couldn’t try their brunch menu and settled for just coffee. It had a balanced strength and flavor, exactly the way I like it. I only wish I’d had more time to linger and savor it at a slower pace..

One of my favourite cafes in Leipzig. The coffee was creamy and well made. The pancakes were amazing, very fluffy, the serving quite big and the shakshuka didn’t disappoint either! The ambience was cosy with a unique vintage design since it’s located in a former butcher shop. The staff was very friendly. All in all a great experience. Highly recommend!

The food is just divine and made with so much love and eye to detail. Eggs Benedict are my favourite. The coffee is pure art and has a chocolate flavour to it. The interior is old made new and has so much flair, you should go especially to have a look at that, too.

Lovely hype Cafe in Leipzig. The place used to be a butcher ! Beautiful old tiles on the wall giving you the hint of the original place. Great atmosphere with candles and not a bright light in the room. Food was very tasty. Great banana bread with yoghurts and nuts and later on we had a Tom yum soup - just perfect. Very friendly service and very helpful A must to go place in Leipzig! 👍

We’re currently in Leipzig and decided to check out what a Michelin-starred menu experience looks like at Frieda. I went for the classic dégustation menu and opted to add the caviar supplement, while my partner chose the vegetarian version — which, in hindsight, turned out to be a regrettable decision. As the meal progressed, we were told that the first three servings — fennel with granité and coriander, beetroot tartare with coconut and hazelnut, and a potato bread — were actually part of the amuse-bouche. We had initially assumed they were the opening courses, as listed online, but the portion sizes already raised suspicion. Taste-wise, the fennel dish was fine. The beetroot and coconut pairing felt a bit mismatched, and the hazelnuts didn’t come through at all. Surprisingly, my partner’s chive butter with the bread felt more interesting than my Iberico fat with apple and onion. The next course was meant to be a highlight for me: scallop with kaviar. As someone who’s enjoyed scallops across several starred restaurants this year — from Spain to Germany — I had high expectations. Sadly, the scallop was underwhelming. The kaviar on top dominated everything, and the quality of the scallop didn’t shine through. The pork chin and leek were more of a filler, and plating-wise, this didn’t really scream star level. Oddly enough, my partner’s umami-glazed aubergine on the vegetarian path had more presence on the plate. Next up was the asparagus. The light soup was pleasant, though both of us agreed the miso caramel completely vanished in the composition. The real high point was the Atlantic sea bass — delicate, flaky, and cooked just right. Meanwhile, the vegetarian counterpart my partner received was essentially the garnish from my dish, just with a few mushrooms thrown in. She found them bland and forgettable. My main dish, the guinea fowl, was okay. The meat could’ve used a bit more depth and seasoning, and the umami tomato paste felt overbearing. My partner’s main — a potato terrine — was a letdown. It lacked inspiration, felt more like a side than a centerpiece, and didn’t include any thoughtful protein alternative like tofu, tempeh, egg, or even cheese. Desserts started with a milk ice cream served with strawberry, lemon cream, and almond crisp — enjoyable, but nothing spectacular. The second dessert — rice cream with sour cherry, green apple, and eggnog — missed the mark. The eggnog was undetectable, and the apple element fell flat. In short: this evening came dangerously close to being underwhelming for a Michelin-starred experience. Based on other one-star restaurants we’ve visited, I’m not sure this one would stand out in a more competitive region. My partner actually left hungry, which says a lot given her small appetite. Desserts were minimal, no petit fours were served, and bread was not replenished. Carbs in general were scarce — both in the classic and vegetarian menus — and again, the vegetarian path lacked real substance in terms of protein and variety. Had my partner rated her experience alone, it would’ve been 2 out of 5. I’ll settle on 3 out of 5, thanks mostly to the friendly — albeit slightly unpolished — service. Still, three hours at the table with unexplained pauses between small courses felt stretched. Excluding tip, and with just one aperitif and two glasses of wine in total, we paid just under €320 — a price point that, as someone who dines at starred restaurants regularly and has run a restaurant myself, doesn’t quite hold up here. What was ultimately missing throughout the entire evening was that one standout dish — or even two — that stays with you for months. The kind of plate that makes you say 'wow', the moment it hits the table, and lingers in your memory like a signature moment. That’s what you come to a Michelin-starred restaurant for. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a single course that delivered that. No dish we’d rave about weeks later, no “I wish I could have that again” moment. Just nothing that earned the title of a true signature showstopper. Thanks.

I celebrated my birthday at Frieda. Good service, exquisite cuisine, and a good ambiance. I recommend for a Leipzig dining experience.

We had a great dinner experience at Frieda. It’s a small restaurant so make sure you reserve. I liked the attention to detail - our menu had our name on it. They were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions (pescatarian) and the menu showcased a great variety of regional and seasonal specialties. Initially the break between the dishes was slightly too long (15min), but they were able to speed up the cadence and we were able to finish in 2.5hrs with great deserts.

Delicious food and a very kind staff. Every course was exceptional.

After a stroll through town, we decided to stop for a quick indulgence — and this café, with its tempting pastry display, drew us in. We ordered a slice of the house specialty and one of the nougat cake, accompanied by a cup of tea and a coffee. The house cake was excellent — well-balanced, creamy, with a subtle sweetness that didn’t try too hard. The nougat cake tasted just fine, but it arrived broken into two pieces, and this was simply ignored when served. At these prices, one would expect more care and attention to detail — especially when it comes to presentation. The drinks were decent — nothing remarkable, but they did their job. What left more of an impression, though, was the service. While one or two staff members were pleasant enough, most of them moved and spoke with the kind of energy that made you feel like placing a second order was an inconvenience. There was a noticeable lack of warmth. The interior leans into a French-inspired aesthetic, which could be charming — but the space felt a bit cramped and overfilled. With some thoughtful adjustments, it could become far more inviting. That said, if you’re here strictly for the cake, you’ll be just fine. But if you’re expecting a memorable café experience from start to finish, you may leave wishing for a bit more hospitality and a little less attitude.

If you are not from here, do not trust the positive reviews. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. When they did not understand what we wanted, they sighed loudly and made us show photos of the cakes instead of simply allowing us to point to them in the display. When we tried to describe the cake, the staff refused, saying they only accept orders by the exact name. Even then, when they didn’t understand the name, they eventually allowed us to point, but only after much insistence. To add to this, when ordering bruschetta, the staff corrected our pronunciation. This was ironic since we are descendants of Italians and know the correct pronunciation, which makes us wonder how other guests might be treated if they happen to pronounce something differently. It is also important to note that the café was almost empty at the time of our visit, with only three other tables occupied besides ours. We were there before 9 a.m., so the poor service cannot be explained by the place being busy or overwhelmed. And even if the café had been full, that would not excuse the lack of courtesy and professionalism we experienced. Overall, while the setting of Kaffeehaus Riquet is beautiful, the food is of very poor quality and the service is unwelcoming at best. A disappointing experience that we would not recommend.

Brilliant service! We walked right upstairs and were greeted by a waitress who invited us to have a seat anywhere we’d like. We had a Kaffee Riquet, an Elefantenkaffee, a Leipziger lerche, a Bach Torte, and a Wiener Torte. To be honest, we found the drinks and cakes underwhelming. The only thing that we could say we loved was the Leipziger Lerche. The two kinds of coffee were “interesting” to taste, but do not expect them to taste like modern day coffee. Anyway, we went there, well aware of the value of Cafe Riquet as a place of history. It didn’t surprise us that the food didn’t meet our expectation. We went there mainly to experience the taste and the ambiance of the past.

The restaurant was full and some seating was available upstairs. The tables are very small and the restaurant is not very spacious. As you can see the food we ordered didn't fit on the table we had to resort to leaving other plates we hadn't finished and then eating what was brought out. Service was very slow but expected as it's busy. I'd recommend reserving as some tables were in undesirable places like in front of the door or in hallways. Really nice selection of teas and drinks too.

Very cute and dreamy cafè that makes you desperate to have that one-night to spend with the love of your life romance, the French vibes mixed with the rich history — that they are not afraid to share — is a perfect mix with their heavenly vienna chocolate and their rich cakes. The food and drinks are worth their money and are fair for not only the delectables but also for the nice staff and interesting people you might get the chance of meeting there. The €20-30 price p.p. was for a full breakfast with food and drinks.

I was sat immediately at a table by a window today, with my dog. Busy staff but professional and attentive. The “maracuja” cake looked good but barely tasted of passion fruit. I paid 10 Euros for fresh mint tea and cake which I found reasonable. I didn’t stay long though as it was busy.

Decided to try this place because of the good reviews, but the experience was disappointing! After being seated, we were left waiting for a while before anyone took our order, and then it took about another 45 minutes for the food to arrive so over an hour from when we first got there. Other tables who got there afterwards were served much faster, which felt discriminatory. The food itself was just okay, not worth the long wait, and overall the place didn’t feel very international-friendly. I wouldn’t return.

The interior of the restaurant is clean, and the staff are friendly. It feels like they really tried to recreate an authentic Japanese atmosphere, but unfortunately, the taste didn’t match the vibe. I honestly couldn’t figure out what the broth was supposed to taste like—it was a complete mystery until the very last spoonful. Normally, I enjoy almost any kind of Japanese ramen, but this time I just couldn’t make sense of the flavor.

An excellent place with the ocean Ramen. The duck Ramen was also very good. The portions are big, so would be sufficient for the lunch. The service was excellent.

To our taste the pork meat in Chashu ramen was too heavy and not good, around 80% lard and 20% meat. So we did not enjoy. Wouldn’t visit again or recommend the place. I am sure my review will be deleted, as my partner’s review was, that seems really unfair. But hopefully it still helps someone to make a decision about dining in this place.

We took three different ramen and three different teas to drink. All very tasty and the price was right for the portion. We also took the chicken gyoza, really good.

The tonkatsu ramen was very tasty, served fresh, and the staff were very friendly—when the boba pearls were too hard, they offered a free replacement boba. The restaurant was also open on a Sunday, which was a plus. Would definitely recommend Umaii Ramenbar and come again! :)

Pretty place, both indoor and outdoor dining. Though there was sewage smell when seated outdoors. The food looked very pretty, but the taste was average. Both ramen and udon noodles were overcooked, the broth was tasteless. Having eaten ramen through Japan and Asia we had higher expectations. But still a pretty place with nice service.

The matcha was brownish, not drinkable, and the sandwich with fruit had nothing on it. Very disappointing for the price. There are cheaper and cute places around with nice matcha.

Das Servicepersonal war ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir mussten nie lange warten, fühlten uns durchweg gut betreut und willkommen. Das Essen war köstlich, mit Liebe zubereitet und ansprechend angerichtet. Zu später Stunde gönnten wir uns noch eine Käseplatte, die ebenfalls wunderbar schmeckte und den Abend perfekt abrundete. Es war ein rundum gelungener Geburtstag, der mir noch lange in liebevoller Erinnerung bleiben wird. Apels Garten ist ein Ort mit Geschichte, Atmosphäre und Seele und ich kann ihn von Herzen weiterempfehlen.

A restaurant close to the city center, serving German dishes. There are a lot of tables outside (but also there are a lot of wasps). There is an English menu with the use of QR code and also they speak English. We tried the schnitzel and the beef steak. The steak was very good, the schnitzel was quite dry. The service was friendly and quick!

Nice place friendly atmosphere and allowed us to be our dogs to eat dinner. We stopped here for a break from a long road trip and wasn’t disappointed. Highly recommend.

We were in Leipzig just one day for marriage registration. Our photographer recommended this place for lunch. I must say that the interior, service and location are perfect. We were 8 people together and everyone ordered something else. Our gusts and we were very satisfied with food. It was really very tasty and looked very attractive. I want to say extra thanks on the stuff. They were very friendly.

Restaurant Michaelis in Leipzig offers a limited menu with basic, rustic dishes that are just okay, but nothing particularly memorable. The atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming—despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only three occupied tables, the waiter had to check with the kitchen to see if they could accommodate two more guests, which felt unnecessarily inconvenient. The wine selection was mediocre, failing to impress. While the food wasn’t bad, the overall experience left much to be desired, and I wouldn’t feel inclined to return for a second visit.

5* doesn't give any justice on how mind-blowing is this restaurant. Yes, it's bib gourmand recommended (that's how I found them), so something special was expected, but they surpassed all my expectations by lightyears (and I know that lightyear actually means time 😉). We spent an amazing evening there, we were treated with the best essence of hospitality, catering and culinary art and I'm still crying from joy when I think about it. Our waiter defied his young age - my friend didn't make his work easy but he was fully on par with him even in the jokes and they ended up in rounds of entertaining conversations as the evening progressed. He hasn't stopped being extremely attentive and polite while still staying relaxed and informal. Excellent start for sure. I went for the Menu III, which was all vegetarian (while I'm not 😊), because I was curious. 2 appetizers were also included - good start for testing the waters, but even only one week later I don't really remember what they were beyond being delicious. What I do recall is the first course - and how surprised we both were. For me it was melon in a very toned down garnish (sorry for the heavy-handed simplification) - nice harmonies, different materials combined but nothing really extraordinary. Looking back, I'm pretty sure we were tricked there, fooled to believe that there's nothing to be seen here: it's a decent restaurant with a capable chef, we eat a nice dinner but we forget it 2 days later. And that's exactly what NOT happened, but quite the opposite: the main course arrived and whatever was kept at bay until that point, was unleashed. I'm brave enough to admit: I cried from the joy, what the main course (grilled eggplant is not supposed to be this heavenly) and the dessert (cheese plates are not supposed to be this unbelievable) caused inside me. Flavours, textures, colours, temperatures whirled in perfect, complementing harmony - all of our senses were under this amazing, flawlessly orchestrated and delivered attack and I didn't want it to end. I was lucky enough to eat in a few Haute cuisine places already, but this evening at Michaelis will be my new personal benchmark. The strongest (let alone a sole) reason for visiting Leipzig from now on - thank you!

Excellent restaurant. Dishes are playfully creative but not over the top. Expertly put together with a wide range of seasonal ingredients. The service team is very charming and attentive. The wine list has a lovely selection of delicious and surprisingly inexpensive wines which makes the entire fine dining experience thoroughly enjoyable and very good value for money. Will be going back on my next visit to Leipzig!

Delicious pizzas. We ordered Cynara and Mollie along with Olives and Amaretti. All the ordered items were fresh and delicious. One of best Pizzas in Leipzig. Highly recommend😀

Really liked my spinach pizza, wine and the olives. Still not 100 percent convinced that it's worth a reservation more than a week in advance, feels more like a "no reservations" place.

They never miss. The menu is great and they deliver what they promise. The dough is also some of the best I have ever tried. Last time they forgot our order (twice :)) but they were really kind about it, and offered us an appetizer and dessert for free.

One of the best Mushroom pizzas I have ever had. Definitely recommend. Arancini was good too but one can find the Cheese sauce a little too strong. All in all very friendly and helpful staff and delicious food. I’ll be going there again.

The pizza of my dream. Thin, cripspy and still moist dough. Flavorful and creative topping combination. Stunning and mouth-watering appetizers and desserts. Yes, the service is sometimes odd, yes sometimes you have to wait a bit long for your orders. But the flavor here is so unbeatable! Make sure to try the tacos! Hint: They don't have a phone number. Ordering a table via Facebook is the best, as their reply email normally falls into your spam folder.

The food is so good! I love when restaurants really source their products locally and have seasonal plates to offer. The pizza is delicious 🤤 The atmosphere is cozy, family, children and 🐕 dog friendly! Definitely on my favourite places to dine list!

This is a pleasant place with original cuisine. Our evening began with delicious wine. The restaurant staff provided very detailed and clear descriptions throughout our gastronomic tour. We enjoyed the unusual flavor combinations and variations of dishes. The atmosphere in the restaurant invites you to immerse yourself and savor the flavors. The presentation of the dishes is very minimalist but attractive. The cost is quite high, but the experience is worth it. I recommend everyone to opt for the wine pairing.

A great place to enjoy Michelin star cuisine in a more Leipziger way. The restaurant takes away the poshiness of what you typically would expect in such a place and gives you a sense of friendly neighborhood wine bar with exquisite cuisine!

What a blissful evening! The menu to die for; not knowing what to order as everything sounded and tasted amazing. Beets on beets and celeriac avocado were amazing. My friends equally glorified slow cooked pork and lasagna! On top of that amazing service and a chef who found time to come and really chat with us :) he is a magician and an amazing human being! The only restaurant of its kind in Leipzig, with cooking that could be called neo-bistro with an Italian twist. A focus on fresh ingredients and a creative menu is what you'll get here. The wine list is also great, with a focus on natural European wines. Their three-course menu for 30 euros is an excellent value for the quality of cooking here.

Wonderful place, just what I look for in a bar. Lovely, but not super loud. A wide variety of drinking options, and very friendly staff. It can take a little time for you to get your drink during peak hours, though :)

Cute coffee place in Leipzig. They also have some snacks and cocktails. People there are super friendly. Unfortunately some of the workers do not know how to make a proper italian coffee. Do not expect Barrista quality. The best about the place is really the place itself: It is beautiful. Unfortunately I almost stoped going there since the coffee isn't good which is kind of a shame. PS.:I would appreciate more vegan food choices like vegan sandwiches or Burgers 😀and much better trained workers (regarding the coffee) The food is mostly mediocre as well.

Really convenient location in city center. Huge seating area inside and also a huge patio area to enjoy the beautiful weather. We had no wait which was great since we didn't have a lot of time so we appreciated the fast service as well. We shared the Ceasar Pizza and were pleasantly surprised when it was served on 2 plates without having to ask. It was delicious. L'Osteria is always a great choice.

We had dinner here tonight and it was honestly a very disappointing experience. It took nearly 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and then another 40 minutes until the food finally arrived. When the pizza came out, a piece of it had already been removed, which was shocking to see. When we asked the waiter, he casually said that part of it was burnt and they just took it off — no apology, no professionalism. He even told us that if we wanted a new pizza, we’d need to wait another 40 minutes. The staff’s attitude felt careless and dismissive, and not once did anyone apologize for the situation. For such a popular restaurant chain, this was far below any reasonable standard. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all.

İ went with my 4 person family. We choosed our dinner. Drinks were served and our dinner came until this point everything goes well. But something is missing. Exactly fork and knives and tissue is missing.The pizza is bigger then the plate. The pizza is touching to the table. We saw to the next table that they had a service paper under the plate. The table is to small if you order 4 pizza at the same time.

The service was lovely and far above the local standard. Our waitress was attentive, and we even received a compensation for one of the dishes that was inedible — which was much appreciated. That brings me to the next point: the quality of the food. Unfortunately, all of the main courses were served lukewarm, the "fresh" pasta was hard, and overall, the food quality was quite poor. In that regard, this place unfortunately aligns with the usual local standard.

I really love the idea that you can order one pizza with two flavours. Like other customers have already pointed out in the reviews: the size is triple your face hahah But guys, I recommend trying out their special offers. I had one pizza with half of it being with four cheeses (from regular menu) and the other half, with three mushrooms (special offer). As someone who loves cheese pizzas, I must say I liked the mushroom one more. With some additional salt it was a wow-wow-woooow!!! In the evening, the atmosphere feels homey and relatively busy and noisy. However, I didn't mind it because the noise makes it lively and in my opinion, adds a nice touch to the experience. Made me feel like I was abroad, not in Leipzig. :D

The pizza was burned and the waiter never returned. I ate the unburned parts. The waiter brought the bill and shrugged his shoulders when I showed him the pizza. Without prior disclosure, a service charge was also added to the bill, and I was told it was standard at their establishment.

The best feature is certainly its proximity to the Thomaskirche, one of Bach's church. They specialize in Italian food and the pizza with salami was fantastic. They also had a tasty winter warmer on tap.

The server added +10% tip to the bill without asking. When he put the payment machine in front of us, we asked for the bill, he said after we paid we could get the bill. You can't decide for customers whether or not they tip you. Especially unanounced and untransparant.

Honestly this is easily in my top three pho spots in Germany, maybe even in Europe.. To be fair, it might have tasted even better because I was starving on a rainy day. I went on a weekday around 9 PM, so it wasn’t too busy. After finishing my meal, I wrapped things up with a delicious Vietnamese coffee, which unfortunately made it a bit hard to sleep that night….. Still, I’d highly recommend this place for some seriously good Vietnamese food right in the heart of Leipzig!

Centrally located and yet very spacious and welcoming. Staff is polite and efficient. I liked the subtle ambience and seating by the window. Mango lassi and fresh lemon ginger were refreshing. Tofu in curry and fried noodles with veggie were both good. I would have liked the dishes a bit more flavorful though.

The food is so tasty that we came back again just after 3 weeks! The Litchi lemon soda drink is one of the best drinks that I ever had in Jena! This drink is a must to try! Service is very nice! Great dining, excellent value for money, The Pho Viet offers a wide selection of dishes, excellently spiced and prepared. Options include a variety of delicious meats and vegetarian. The interior is generous and inviting, very airy. Service is friendly and attentive. Restrooms could use a bit of repair, but they are clean.

Ordered the lunch special. Papaya salad tasted authentic and was super refreshing. The crab chips were surprisingly not stale, and had a great crunch to it (secretly hoped the restaurant could’ve served more pieces). Pan-fried noodles with vegetables was flavorful and tasty. What looked like a small portion was in the end, almost more than enough. The personnel were very friendly.

Super friendly and experienced waiter. I had the Mutzbraten (Pork shish-kebab with Marjoram), Sauerkraut, and Kartoffelbaumkuchen (layers of cooked mashed pototoes topped on one another like a cake). Very delicious!! Only negative which I told the waiter, was that I only got one Kartoffelbaumkuchen and not two. ;-) My son said it was the best Sauerbraten that he had ever had.

The ambience is historic and charming. The food, we had Sauerbraten with red cabbage and potato dumplings, was very good.

Been there on monday night, was kind of busy. Tried schnitzel porter style with 3 eggs ans salads on toast and fish & chips with avocado dip served in edible cup made of waffle. Tried some different bears and one shot of calvados. After orders drinks reached us in seconds, the food we got in less than 10 minutes. It was very deliciuos, succulent and filling saying atleast. Our waiter were very charm and made a lot of jokes 😅 They let us come in with a dog. Prices are good, food is fine all in all so worth it.

This was a good find and is a great place to eat, with very friendly staff and a selection of beers, soft drinks, and cocktails to keep everyone happy. There's a cocktail happy hour (actually 2 hours) from 1900-2100 daily, so plan accordingly 🍹😉 🍹 There's plenty of seating both inside and outside. From a romantic meal for two or groups of 10, so a good place for parties, family get-togethers, and corporate events. The food was well presented and delicious with a combination of traditional and global North. A huge thanks to the staff who provided us with a great experience, and I am now a huge fan of banana beer!!!🍌🍺 I would highly recommend Leo's Basserie, and I'll be back when I next pass through Germany.

Best food in town, i am a loyal client, im coming here for 2 years now, been here more than 50 times, never got disappointed , the waiters always nice and smiley, food 10/10, good price, I recommend the most crunchy mozzarella burger and finger food plate, for 13€ you get full no problem.

Reasonable price. They prepare it fast. The turkey steak (Italienisch Art) tasted good. Chicken wigs were also good (could be better by the way!). However, one of the staffs (a middle aged women) was somehow angry!

This time I visited Café Luise for breakfast and the truth is that the Omelette with different vegetables was a good choice, plus it came with a small portion of salad 😊 It was exquisite so I recommend it!

best chicken burger in town We come to Luise on a regular basis and I must say it has the best chicken burger in town. All the food is good but portions can be a bit small. If you are really hungry get the fat-man-burger. It’s big. Also the basil-smash-cocktail is to die for.

We were just trying to find a nice restaurant to visit on our first night in Leipzig. We stumbled across this restaurant and we are very glad that we did. The beers (Gose in particular) were amazing, and the food was great too. The waiters were also very kind to us and made it a great night. Highly recommend.

Amazing food and beer specialities

As the name suggests, it's a beer garden for a relaxing time. It's a little away from the bustle of the city center and is a calm Biergarten filled with trees. They boast the award winning Edelgose on tap along with a few other freshly brewed bier. If you visit during the summer, be sure to try the famous Märzen Bier. The also have a popular kitchen in the garden along with a historic indoor dining room. Feel free to ask for a visit! Suggestions: Edelgose, Kellergold, Märzen

Lovely place with great atmosphere, cheerful staff, and an impressive menu full of local and general German specialities. Beware: the portions are very generous!! We liked the fresh mint and fresh ginger tea and can recommend it. The red curry was good and had a good amount of veggies in it. The sofa style seating can be made more comfortable.

Surprisingly great find. Initially we were skeptical of Vietnamese-Thai-Japanese mix but they fulfilled their menu well. Food was very fresh and tasty. They are kid friendly. Went here last night and honestly, I really wanted to like this place — it looks great and the atmosphere overall is quite nice. Unfortunately, that’s about where the positives end. Service? Pretty rough. The main issue was the manager — he was visibly stressed, frantic, and came across as totally unprofessional. After seating us, he moved us to another table like we were an inconvenience, and then didn’t even inform the waitstaff about the change. So we ended up waiting around awkwardly while they tried to figure out what was going on (not a criticism of the wait staff but of the manager). This set a chaotic tone to the evening. The food looked promising, beautifully plated, but the flavour just didn’t deliver. Everything felt a bit… bland? Like it had potential, but no follow-through. And while the restaurant has a nice vibe in general, we were seated in a dimly lit corner surrounded by crying children. Not exactly the dinner mood we were hoping for. Overall, disappointed. Great aesthetics, but style over substance in both food and service.

Absolutely great food. The oriental waitresses were very friendly. The good itself was amazing and good to have a view in the open kitchen. The cooks seemed to enjoy their work.

Nice Asian style restaurant with open kitchen in down town. They have space enough to go with a big group of people. The staff is friendly and the response is fast. The food quality and taste was good and the menu is large enough to find something that you would like to eat.

We seated ourselves 15 minutes before they closed, but they kindly still took our order. The cakes were surprisingly good, not too sweet or heavy. The Yuzu tart was refreshing. The Wiener iced coffee was better than in Vienna itself. Glad we made the stop for cake.

This coffee is in a very good location and you have to admit - the ambiance is cosy ! Cakes are good - not extraordinary but worth their price - and coffees were ok, but too much cream for me. Price was a bit too much - 5 euros for a coffee with Eierlikor und Sahne is a bit expensive for Leipzig. Good place if you want to have a cosy coffee time with your loved one :)

Great cafe to sample the Leipzig delicacies of Leipziger Lerche and the Leipziger Räbchen. Both are perfect for anyone who enjoys marsipan. The Leipziger Räbchen is small round donuts that comes with a cinnamon custard which was simply delicious whilst the Leipziger Lerche is a tart with jam filling and marsipan.

Best French toast I have ever had. The coffee wasn't good and the service was also quite bad. However the place is worth visiting if you wanna see nice deco and have a very nice French toast.

Very nice spot, nice beers and we had the quiche which was very delicious. Sadly the service wasn't what you would expect. One of the waiters was wearing his AirPods. Over all they were still nice but we had to wait a long time for some orders. Overall still a good place.

Just stopped in for a coffee because the outdoor seating was so inviting and made for good people. Watching. The dishes being served around me looked very good, especially the smoked salmon and egg open face sandwich. I will definitely be back to try the food.

I’ve grabbed my coffee a few times from there, but the last time, the lady who works there (at the ice cream bar) approached me and said, “We don’t have water, so you can’t place your usual order!” It was 9am, and I thought, okay, no problem. I grabbed my coffee from a different place, but on my way back a few minutes later, I found a bunch of people drinking their coffee both outside and inside the café 😅! I believe I know the reason behind the incident since I’m not a local!! Very disappointing and absolutely disgusting behaviour 🤮

Nice to sit in a restaurant that looks like a train. Good quality meat and a wide choice of side dishes. Service is efficient and friendly. Making a reservation is recommended.

Very interesting train car theme, but more interesting than that was the food. My god the steaks were heavenly. For an appetizer we got the salmon tatar and for entrees we got the tomahawk, fillet, and swordfish. Service was friendly and timely. They were very accommodating when they found we were English speaking as well (English menus and speaking in English) The only thing my friends found that was maybe not up to the standard that everything else was, was the gnocchi side they both got, the mushrooms, onion rings, and fries were all excellent sides.

One of the best dinner I've had. From service over wine to food everything was excellent. When you are in Leipzig definitely worse a go!

I love the amount of idea of the restaurant and the ambience. The food is also fantastic!

A lovely place in the center of Leipzig with a great selection of steaks and cuts of beef. Every main dish has two side dishes included, I'd recommend their home made fries and mushrooms with herbs, they go just great with a hearty portion of steak and some herb butter and truffle butter. Their tomahawk steak seems a bit challenging at first but with such a great flavour it's the perfect size for steak lovers. The staff is very friendly and helpful, we had a reservation for two but we had another friend joining us and they managed to find us place in a few moments. They have a pretty big selection of wines also for every taste. The interior is designed like inside the dining wagon of a train and it's very comfortable. Give them a visit and you won't regret it.

Shock and surprise of our visit! This place was fantastic with exceptional service and food. Very low key entry way leads to an amazing old train like dining area. Food was incredible with the swordfish coming in at a size that far exceeded expectations. The veal chop was amazingly well prepared and plentiful. All four sides did not disappoint either. Formal dinner for two with 5 assorted cocktails was under 100 euro. Will absolutely do again.

This is the real deal! This is the first and only Thai restaurant I've tried in Leipzig that actually has delicious, authentic Thai food, with dishes and flavours you'd expect to find in Thailand. Everywhere else I've tried is so "meh" and just catered for the German taste in comparison. We have not yet had a dish we didn't like here. This place makes real Thai food, with the corresponding spice level. We will be regulars from now on as long as they remain authentic and not transform into milquetoast like all the other "Asian" or supposed Thai places we've found in Leipzig.

Looking for non German food, you will find a lot of Thai & Viet cafes in the Old Town, glad I found Chang. Had the curry coconut soup and chicken satay, quick service, lively crowd. In & outside seating.

Really nice food. The restaurant isn’t massive but it wasn’t too busy. Well worth a visit if you fancy Thai food.

Great food and adequate prices. The taste is so good! You can customize how spicy you want the dish. Also cozzy atmosphere to drink something after you have eaten :) the waitresses and waiters have good vibres! Thank you for all the team that makes it possible

Bro. Away from the crowds, we were in 3 people and my dude brought in 6 spring rolls instead of the 5, BIGGEST MANGO LASSI I HAVE EVER RECEIVED and food still to come. I couldn't wait to get the food so there will be a part 2.

I've been to the Vleischerei twice now, and I'm not disappointed. The food is delicious, the portions copious, the price democratic and the service fast and smiling. The friends I came with for the first time loved it! An address not to be missed in Leipzig !

We stopped here on our way to Berlin from Bavaria. It's easy to find and the food is excellent. If your are looking for unique Vegan eats, you must visit!!

The Best Sea-less View in Leipzig! If you ever find yourself in Leipzig with a sudden craving for the high seas and an English breakfast, Hotel Seebkick is the place to go! Ironically, there’s no view of the sea here—unless you count the picturesque waves of concrete and traffic right outside. But don't let that stop you, because their English breakfast (Hotel Seaview) is a delightful, albeit not-so-authentic, surprise. I give their English breakfast a solid 7 out of 10. The bacon was crisp, the eggs were sunny-side up and cheery as a British morning, and the baked beans were, well, bean-like. The sausage, though tasty, seemed to have wandered in from a bratwurst convention down the street. The toast was perfectly golden. Despite the geographical and culinary quirks, the staff’s friendly service made it feel like a little piece of home, if home were a landlocked city in Germany. So, if you're in Leipzig and want an English breakfast with a splash of German flair and a sea of imagination, set sail for Hotel Seebkick. Just don’t forget your sense of humor and your map, because you won’t be navigating any actual waves here. Guten Appetit and ahoy, matey!

I review only the restaurant, which I wouldn't recommend. I went here two times and both times the service was terrible. We waited unbelievably long for everything.. menu 30 minutes, drinks 45 minutes, ... after giving the sign that we want to leave they tried to fix it but our stressfree breakfast was done since we now had some time pressure up. The food was alright but nothing great either. Anyways, I will never come here again.

Meh :-/ Went there years and years ago for breakfast and had his place in good memory, But this time....hm, waiters forgot our drinks, our food, our side dishes as well. And wobbly tables....gaah! But I'll go there another time anyway, hopefully this was only a fluke.

We had high hopes but we're disappointed. Online says they open at 9am. On their door says they open at 9am. We arrive at 915am and they said they don't open until 10am. To me, it felt like they just didn't feel like opening until then. There were 5 staff members there, 3 of them were drawing on the windows. Apparently a group effort. The other two drinking coffee and running around. So we sat and watched them draw on the windows for 45 minutes. Ordered "The California" which came with two big pancakes. It came with a very small, tablespoon size bowl of syrup. So we immediately asked the waitress for more syrup. She said it would be between 1-2 euros for more!?!? Are you kidding me??? For syrup, for pancakes we ordered? And is it 1 or 2 euros for a tablespoon of syrup?? .Out of principle we said no. RIDICULOUS!!! So that ruined the meal for us as the pancakes were EXTREMELY dry. She never came to check on us, but stood at the counter blowing her nose and NOT WASHINH HER HANDS (we are in COVID times right?) and chatting with the chef. We were the only two people in the restaurant. Restaurant is also very old and dusty. My husband called it vintage because of the look and smell. I thought that was a generous comparison. IT'S JUST DIRTY. AVOID!!!!!!

Customer service at its worst- Jule Kay don't work in hospitality! First of all the waitress Jule Kay was more busy with having an argument with her colleague right beside our table rather than paying attention to us. Awkward! Secondly my wife's salad was served with what appeared to be a pubic hair. The Jule Kay waitress did not apologise to us at all and had nothing better to do than suggesting we placed it there so we would not have to pay for it. We left although we were really looking forward to a peaceful lunch with our baby boy. We will never be back and kindly suggest the owner does not let rude kids run his business......If you like hygiene and good service avoid Hotel Seeblick at all costs!

Very simple and chick restaurant with warm and welcoming workers. Great place for friends and family to dine in and simply enjoy a calming atmosphere with delicious meals.

I live near this café and end up there from time to time when I have to meet someone out. It's admittedly a really nice place to have a beer, but the food I had the last time I was there convinced me to finally write a review. I'll recap my past three experiences. (Background: I am a mild-mannered person and am ALWAYS polite to the people who handle my food, for obvious reasons.) 1. Ordered minestrone. €7. The vegetables were almost raw and the broth was just hot water with no flavor, although it did have a thick layer of orange oil floating on it. My guess is that they took their pasta salad, poured boiling water over it, and served it to me. 2. Ordered pancakes. €8. They were still raw batter inside. Not just a bit moist -- actually gross raw batter. 3. Ordered a lox bagel sandwich (salmon, cream cheese, vegetables). €7. Asked them to please give me extra cream cheese and charge me for it. (I really like cream cheese.) Waiter says that's okay, writes it down. The bagel comes and there's not much cream cheese on it. I politely ask the waiter whether the extra was forgotten, and he says: "Es wurde nicht vergessen. Es wurde nicht umgesetz." ("It wasn't forgotten. They didn't do it.") He explains to me that the kitchen refused to add cream cheese because it would prevent the bagel sandwich from standing up. I say that's fine, but can I have some in a little cup on the side or something (what I'd expected anyway)? That works out and the bagel is fine. 1./2./3. The wait staff has been really nice, but service is very, very slow. Like, 30 minutes for a drink order slow. I think they're chronically understaffed. So, that's it: Bad food twice, denied extra cream cheese once for a weird reason. Nice wait staff, slow service, not the staff's fault. Okay-ish prices. Pretty place. I don't mind going there for a drink, but to me, this place will forever be Hotel Shitblick.
