German restaurant
Restaurant
Auerbachs Keller is a renowned landmark restaurant in Leipzig, Germany, dating back to 1525. It gained fame as the place where Goethe wrote part of Faust and featured it in his play. The restaurant comprises three distinct spaces: the vaulted Grosser Keller offering hearty Saxon dishes, the Historische Weinstuben for upscale fare and set menus, and the Mephisto Bar serving coffee during the day and cocktails at night.
The atmosphere is wonderful, with beautifully painted walls that create a unique vibe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed both the garlic soup and the main course, you can truly feel the quality in the food. The prices are a bit on the high side, but it’s definitely worth trying at least once. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience!

We found it on the Google Maps and give it a go! The restaurant itself was underground and it was beautiful, lots painted walls and painted columns! The food itself was not really that great but is pretty good with portions. The lamb shoulder I ordered was pretty bland. We were going to order some dessert but our waitress was no where to be found for 10 minutes. We lost the appetite when she finally shows up!

I've always wanted to visit this famous place, and today I finally had the chance since I was out in the city for some errands and decided to have lunch there. We visited just before 2 PM, and since it was a quiet time with fewer customers, we were able to get seated immediately. The peaceful and calm atmosphere made for a relaxing meal and good conversation. Thanks to that, we didn’t have to wait or make a reservation, which was very convenient. However, after being shown to our seats, it took about 10 minutes before we could place our order. The appetizer (soup) was served approximately 25 minutes later, and the main dishes arrived about 30 minutes after that. Altogether, from being seated to receiving our main courses, it took nearly an hour. Fortunately, we had plenty of time today, but if you’re on a tight schedule, I recommend planning accordingly and arriving with extra time. The staff was polite, the food was delicious, and the portions were very generous. The interior had warm colors and a clean, well-organized feel, which added to the pleasant atmosphere.

This is an old German restaurant in the heart of Leipzig. According to urban legend, it's mentioned in Goethe's immortal Faust. It's advisable to make a reservation, although we were able to find a seat. I really liked the ambiance and service, but the food could have been better.
Anar — Google review
I went there based on the reviews. Honestly the food portions are huge me & my wife ordered 2 veal schnitzel plates and I believe one was enough with an appetiser perhaps. Now the atmosphere inside was quite chic and the waiters were quite nice however, it was definitely over priced and there was a rusty smell inside that would not make you comfortable to stay for long. Keep in mind you would pay for almost anything. I paid 2€ for tap water for 2 cups !! and 2€ to take the leftovers as takeaway which was completely weird for me !! And to top it off using the bathroom was 0.5€ per visit can you imagine this !!!. I would honestly think there are way cheaper places to try the same dish in Leipzig than this one, definitely a touristic trap!!
Khaled A — Google review
The boar steak, the Blauklaut and Knodels were absolutely delicious. Also the atmosphere and themes are breathtakingly memorable. If you are in Leipzig, you must visit here!
Hyung K — Google review
Food was cold and overall Atmosphere was below expectations. Price performance wasn't appropriate. Service personel was very kind.

We do not recommend Auerbachs Keller's vegetarian dishes to vegetarians. The main courses were a big disappointment! We were very curious based on the reviews and to try the restaurant. We did not have a reservation on Saturday evening, but after a few minutes of waiting we got a free table. We knew that mainly meat dishes "go" in the restaurant. However, there were some vegetarian main courses on the online menu, so we were happy to try them. The employees were very nice. The soups were delicious (but extremely overpriced - a small cup is 9-9.50 Euros). Ok. So be it! The cellar is nice! But for the 23 Euro vegetarian main courses to be just stewed greens with a little pasta or cream? Outrageous and underrated! German vegetarian cuisine is much more than that! This visit was a bad gastronomic experience and a waste of money for us. There is no service, if the food is bad!

German restaurant
Ratskeller der Stadt Leipzig GmbH is a spacious restaurant located in the basement of the new town hall, boasting impressive domed ceilings and vintage decor. The menu offers a wide range of traditional German dishes, including spiced meat and Saxon roulade at reasonable prices. For a more upscale experience, Max Enk serves regional specialties such as Leipziger Allerlei with crayfish and morels.
Charming Local Flavors and Exceptional Service at Ratskeller Ratskeller offers a wonderful mix of hearty local cuisine and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The starters alone are worth the visit—generous open sandwiches loaded with fresh, flavorful ingredients that strike the perfect balance between rustic and refined. The menu includes a solid selection of traditional dishes, each prepared with care and full of authentic regional character. One of the standout choices was the German Weißburgunder (white Burgundy)—crisp, elegant, and an ideal match for the food. But what truly made the experience memorable was our waitress. Her sense of humor, personal touch, and lightning-fast service brought a joyful energy to the table. She made us feel like regulars from the moment we arrived. A place full of flavor, personality, and warmth—highly recommended.

We enjoyed our dinner there! Amazing steaks, crafted beer, great atmosphere of a good German restaurant. Hoping to come back again!
Elvira C — Google review
I love German food, and the one here is amazing. I was so obsessed with the cabbage (served with Schweinshaxe) that I asked the waiter how to cook it at home. Hopefully, I’ll manage. The beer is delicious too. I’ll definitely come back if I visit beautiful Leipzig again 💕
Anna Z — Google review
The place deserves a 4, the service a 5, and the food is below 4. The risotto wasn’t creamy enough, but the flavors were fine and harmonized well. The dessert was the most disappointing: the mozzarella roll wasn’t sweet enough, and the pistachio ice cream had a fake almond or marzipan-like taste and felt cheap. The spaghetti ice cream was melted, so it ended up being just a foamy, simple ice cream with strawberry syrup and almond flakes. I think overpriced.
Babagombóc — Google review
The food is average, nothing special at all. Service is decent. The vibe is nice, but the restaurant is extremely overpriced for what you get.
Pronins — Google review
Love this place! The service is always spectacular and the staff speaks English, which is so kind and accommodating. It makes for the perfect place to bring our friends and family who are visiting the city. Everything on the menu is delicious and the portion sizes are generous. Atmosphere is cozy chic in every corner and I love that they allow doggies while accommodating their needs. Make your reservation a few days in advance if you can. This is a popular spot. 10 stars!

Restaurant
Max Enk is an upscale restaurant located in the heart of Leipzig, offering a blend of Mediterranean and regional cuisine. The restaurant is housed within a late Gothic cloister dating back to the 1400s, providing an elegant and modern atmosphere with high ceilings that allow natural light to fill the space. The menu features seasonal and high-quality dishes, including specialties like asparagus soup with Parma ham and rack of lamb with ratatouille.
The steaks are amazing with various salts and peppers they serve together. Scallops as an appetizer were delicious although they were a bit salty. Drinks are great, too. If you go to this place, I'd recommend having a steak, either fillet or stripe. The service wasn't as attentive as I'd expected, but it could be the European thing. :)

Really nice and clean, good place to eat delicious food and drink a fantastic wine! Totally recommend this restaurant! Kudos for the service and atmosphere!
Sorin S — Google review
Magic. And underpriced. Leipzig has only few really satisfying upscale foody-food places. This is one of them. Visiting in October, we had a seasonal slow-food set menu with autumny dishes like turnip soup, cabbage and pork. This may sound based, but the nice people at Max Enk make this a taste adventure and pair it with five local (Saxon and Saale-Unstrut) wines. The staff was not only friendly but incredibly attentive, knowledge and witty. We had a full set menu with additional starters, the full set of accompanying wines, coffee, pralines, and a spirit - for 160 Euros. Way too cheap.
Arne T — Google review
We’ve checked online reservation web and it’s all fully booked , luckily we wrote an email and also making phone call, then we got our seats ! We had the Max Menu 79€ , the rote bete carpaccio is very interesting idea combine with baked fish , but maybe personal taste , I didn’t feel quite matching ! The beef soup is nice and light , the fish and the Duck breast are well done !! 👏 Dessert is also nice ! Service is rather cold from the beginning but gets better afterwards! Some waitress are a bit shy though ! I guess Max Enk must have ambition to get the Michelin award , keep on and go for it ! I think if the service team can make some better adjustments, and I am sure you will have it soon !!
Jack H — Google review
Food was great. Service was good up to the wine choice. Wine was extremely disappointing. We looked up the wine which is available in the uk. Which made us convinced that our assessment of the wine delivered was that it was wrong. This was refuted by the restaurant manager who would not change it without us paying again for another bottle. So, we had to accept it l, so we poured the wine into the wine cooler so that it could not be resold to an unsuspecting customer. Sad end to an otherwise very good meal. On this experience we have decided to move on from Leipzig as soon as possible tomorrow rather than spend anymore time in the city. A tragic end to this part of our journey.
J G — Google review
Great place to be and to eat. In a calm and cozy courtyard near Leipzig town center. Very nice and friendly staff - attentive and discreet. An upscale place to stay for some hours. Food is extra-ordinary good - one of the best steaks I ever had: medium rare as ordered and buttery on the tongue. Prices are a bit higher but fitting the high class service and food.
Daniel M — Google review
One of the best diner I’ve had in a while! The truffe pasta were perfect, the beef filet was as tender as it could be and the desert was very good. Service is professional and nice. Location is great, in the center of the city. Definitely worth trying the “Der max cocktail”.

I love their high ceiling! I’ve been there many times. The service is good and the food is delicious overall. Waiters and waitresses made efforts of speaking English too which I appreciated.

Stadtpfeiffer Restaurant im Gewandhaus is a top dining spot in Leipzig, located conveniently at the concert hall. The restaurant offers inventive multi-course menus with a thematic focus, prepared with utmost perfection by chef Detlef Schlegel and served by Petra Schlegel. Despite being awarded a Michelin star, the restaurant maintains an affordable yet sophisticated dining experience.
I randomly found this restaurant on google maps in canada with a friend (ive never been to Germany) but this restaurant looks really good. I’m going to be disappointed at you if u dont eat at this restaurant for me
Living G — Google review
Food was great, the wine pairing was not so good for our taste but this is always subjective, but the service was mediocre.Plates were taken or brought, without a word, half of the ingredients of each plate were not presented, waiting times even for ordering were not Michelin star appropriate. Environment and cutlery were not corresponding to the price. Vegetarian menu should not have the same price as the standard one, as the price of the ingredients is not comparable. Compared to other Michelin restaurants we have visited during our stay in Leipzig it was a disappointment.
Κωνσταντίνος Α — Google review
So once in a while you have a Wow! experience in a restaurant. This was such an experience. Fantastic, exciting flavors in every single dish. Afterwards we were allowed to visit the kitchen and met the Chef. Kitchen spotlessly clean, staff wearing clean aprons, Chef welcoming and proud on his food. This is what fine dining is supposed to be!

(Translated by Google) While in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig right next door guests are presented with joyful odes for the ears, the team around Detlef Schlegel in the Stadtpfeiffer offers odes for the palate in both liquid and solid form. In addition to ingredients grown in the garden and mushrooms hand-collected from the alluvial forest, which are arranged into works of art on the plate, the excellent, very attentive and extremely competent service is also enchanting. "To each as he likes." is the motto of Schlegels and team. And if you then get a table with a view of the kitchen through the windows, the visual entertainment is finally served.

C’est la vie Französisches Gourmet Restaurant in Leipzig offers a stylish presentation of classic French dishes such as foie gras and magret de canard, complemented by an extensive selection of French wines.
Very friendly and professional service and great food. Every dish is well prepared. The wine list French centric and provides a good choice. I think they are on their way to the first star.
Björn L — Google review
Very nice place. Probably the best food that I have tried in Leipzig. The atmosphere though is a little too sterile and old-fashioned for me. The cuttlery is old and cheap and for a Michellin star restaurant I expected something more. The service was also not at the high level that I expected. If you want to spend this amount of money, I will recommend the place only for the good food.
Gergana B — Google review
A BIG thank you to the C'est la vie restaurant for saving our New Years Eve. We arrived in Leipzig without a dinner reservation. C'est la vie Responded to our online dinner reservation request and we had a wonderful time. The staff is first rate and the food w/wine pairing was outstanding. I recommend C'est la vie without hesitation!
Jennette B — Google review
I like the food and service there. The waiters and waitresses tried their best to speak English with me (which is not common in Leipzig). I very much appreciated it.
Lou I — Google review
C'est la vie is my favorite French restaurant outside of France. While perhaps one or two two- or three-starred Michelin restaurants in Paris may have had slightly more memorable food, the overall experience of the warm welcome, outstanding food and wine, and professional yet friendly service make this an outstanding restaurant. The fish and seafood dishes are particularly exemplary. Like most outstanding French restaurants, dinner is a three-hour or so affair, so plan to make an evening of it. The staff speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about the food and wine choices. With a four-course price of 80 Euros, C'est la vie delivers outstanding value. In my opinion, dinner here alone is well worth a trip to Leipzig, though the city offers several other attractions to warrant a visit.

This place is a beautiful gem in Leipzig. The interior is elegant and inviting, yet not stiff. The size of the restaurant is neither too big nor too small, it has a nice sense of familiarity. We ordered the Menü Amélie (one of three available menus), and each dish tasted phenomenal and was beautifully arranged with precision; as we could look into the kitchen a bit, we found that the cooks partially used tweezers to arrange the plate. The wine went excellent with the different dishes, and the sommelière explained more about its origin. The personnel was kind and very attentive, yet no too formal. We would like to thank the restaurant for a wonderful experience and we will surely come again.

Incredible food. Interesting wine pairings, but I wish the pours were a bit bigger or that she topped our glasses up. I had to ration my wine to make sure I didn't run out. Ask for main room as side room felt a bit isolated.

Bar
FALCO The! Heavenly Bar is a sophisticated and contemporary venue located on the 27th floor of The Westin Leipzig Hotel, offering breathtaking city views. For over a decade, it has been led by renowned chef Peter Maria Schnurr, known for his creativity and culinary experimentation. This restaurant has earned two Michelin stars and is considered one of the best dining destinations in Saxony and Germany.
The question of whether we should go in there didn't arise from the start because when I looked at the floor with my eyes I saw that I was wearing my Gucci pants. With these pants I'm always in a spending mood. So we walked past prominent rascals like J**g P****a up to the top floor and immersed ourselves in the world above Leipzig. There were cocktails that I hadn't even heard of in the land of milk and honey. A professional, disciplined, serious bartender mixed me a great tasting Mint Julep. Unfortunately he was out of fun and certainly couldn't do as much with my flippant comments as I could with his delicious drink...
Tilman B — Google review
We visited the restaurant in 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed the 2 Hat Restaurant but unfortunately it closed. We returned to the "Heavenly" bar but unfortunately other than the view, the uniqueness, the ambience, the Falcons... have all been replaced by a disinterested, soulless, employee that seems to have made it to the top floor by lottery rather than talent or personality. Obnoxiously loud music and lack of any atmosphere meant we spent several minutes only before deciding to adjourn to the Lobby Bar where we enjoyed excellent service, quiet background music and a nice selection of drinks.

I ate there on 22/10/2020. Half of the dishes were very sour and not enjoyable. On top of that, it is extremely expensive (and I've dined in 3 Michelin starred restaurant in Paris before). At first, it seemed like at least the service was good, but as the evening went on the crew got less and less talkative and caring up to a point where I felt they don't really care about me as much as expected. Overall, I left the restaurant with a really bad feeling, like I was scammed. The guy who walked me outside barely said bye and thanks even though I left a 10% tip which is not the standard in Germany and which was 30€. To make things even worse, the cab driver also ripped me off. I don't recommend you going to this restaurant unless you want to go back to your hotel feeling like you want to cry.
Barak N — Google review
Good service, nice view, and somewhat confusing food. It's good and is cooked perfectly, but sometimes there is too much confusion in the dish, with too many different flavor, making it hard to read the dish.

Brewery
The Bayerischer Bahnhof is a multifaceted destination that offers a unique blend of experiences. It features a contemporary brewery, restaurant, and beer garden where visitors can savor traditional German dishes like pork knuckle and schnitzel alongside a selection of craft beers. This historic venue, located in the world's oldest terminus station, is renowned for brewing Leipzig's original beer specialty, Gose. The brewery's distinctive rooms exude individuality and charm, providing an inviting atmosphere year-round.
Our European beer tour guide (From UA) took us here for lunch as part of beer tour. The building was a railroad station before and the theme of the restaurant also railroad related! My wife and I had their samples and I liked their dark beer which I was not a fan of dark beer before! The goulash and my fish and chips are super good. We enjoyed very much!

I am not sure if I will return. Ambience is great. Food is good. I ordered a chicken pasta, a beer flight, and pretzels with Bavarian butter that was served promptly. However, the servers are very unfriendly. That’s why, the 3 stars. There is a need for the management to train the staff on basic etiquettes.

We were tourists from UK, the staff were welcoming and did their best to help on food and beer options. Found all were really helpful. Really helped that their English was better than our German language. Food is excellent, so on same level as the beer. Also so easy to get to, on the public station.

Deceptively large pub / restaurant, housed in an old railway station, which is well worth a visit, even a detour, if you’re in or around Leipzig. Home to the famous reinvented gose beer, which should bee tried and can be easily worth a flight of the house beers. Main meals are large and very tasty, pork knuckle especially recommended. Service is excellent, friendly and accommodating. We went twice during a week in Leipzig. Seek it out!

Bayerischer Bahnhof offers good German food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The fish dish stood out with its vibrant sour notes from the confit lemon slice. The Goze, a beer from Leipzig, was also excellent. The vibrant food and drink are a refreshing change from the typically heavy German fare.

Amazing level of service and generally friendly atmosphere even for english speaking tourists. Before we left we already knew we will come back there one day again. Food was absolutely on top. Not even mentioning the price, which is lower than some other restaurant and you can clearly tell the quality here is few levels higher.

I came for the Original Gose beer but the food looked great as well. The main building is impressive with a good sized beer garden

We were recommended this place by a local and glad we tried it out. It does seem to be very popular and so booking is recommended, although we arrived on spec, the staff were friendly and managed to find us a table near the bar. The beer is very refreshing and compliments the menu very well. The food is good quality, plentiful and a good price. The service we had on the evening was fast and friendly too.

Panorama Tower - Plate of Art offers a stylish setting for modern, global cuisine and cocktails with expansive city views. Located on the 29th floor of the City Tower Leipzig, it provides an incredible view across Leipzig. The restaurant is part of a complex that includes FALCO, renowned for its two Michelin stars, Zest offering fine vegan dishes, and Kaiserbad with its unique industrial architecture. Guests can also savor authentic Chinese cuisine at Chinabrenner.
To celebrate the birthday of someone very special, I made a reservation in advance and visited on Sunday at 12 PM. As I approached the Panorama Tower, I easily found the entrance thanks to the blue and red signs placed in succession. Before taking the elevator, I checked the floor guide attached to the lobby wall, which allowed us to go directly to the 29th floor. The restaurant, located on a high floor, had a wall made entirely of windows, allowing warm sunlight to naturally brighten the interior. The overall decor of the establishment was modern yet simple. The staff were all friendly, and the taste of the food was satisfactory. While the dishes weren't extraordinary or perfect, they were made with fresh ingredients and seemed to reflect care in their preparation, which was enjoyable. The cost for lunch for two came to 110.70 euros, which, to be honest, felt a bit burdensome compared to my usual spending habits. However, considering that it was a special day for us and that we could enjoy a more upscale meal while appreciating the panoramic view for about two hours in a very comfortable setting, I thought it was reasonable as an occasional dining experience for a special occasion. One thing I would like to mention is that it would be great if a bit more attention could be paid to the cleanliness of the restrooms.
Just ! — Google review
The restaurant is at 29th floor of the building and has a nice panoramic view of the city. We had only a coffee and Käsekuchen for 4€ piece. From the level of the restaurant you can clime to a panoramic platform for 5€ per person. Definitely the restaurant depends more on the view than on serving, a bit overestimated in my opinion. There was strong smell coming out of the kitchen also.

The Panorama Tower in Leipzig offers a breathtaking view of the cityscape. From the top, you can enjoy a 360-degree perspective, taking in iconic landmarks like St. Thomas Church, St. Nicholas Church, and the vibrant city center. It's the perfect spot to capture the essence of Leipzig. A visit to the Panorama Tower is a must for anyone wanting to experience the full beauty and charm of Leipzig.

Wonderful view, very pleasant customer service and good food. What more can you ask from a saturday.

I went to brunch at the panoramic tower in leipzig a few weeks ago and I would not return for brunch. It reminded me of a hotel breakfast and there were long lines waiting for food what was all just in trays. Because if the price I expected it to be something above a continental breakfast. The view is nice and the staff was ok but I think they were undermanned. Drinks were not included in the price of the brunch so I really would not return. Maybe their dinner and other lunches are better but do not go to the brunch. I will not return.
Steve T — Google review
Well, the first let-down was the view. No window seat and we were left to stare at the panorama of a rather mondane wall that did not really warrant coming up a high tower. When confirming our reservation, information about non-availability of window seats would have been refreshing and transparent. Something one can expect from a quality establishment. From there it went downhill. The choice at the buffet was more reminiscent of one of those mass hotels that welcome tourists by the busload - in a different price category obviously. We would have let all this go and just tried to enjoy our time, but there was this battered shrimp tail which they had not fully defrosted. When we pointed this out, we were told this was normal and that it was meant to be served cold. Not even sure if this is safe from a hygiene perspective. At this point we felt that this establishment was taking the Micky and really does not care about their guests having a nice experience. They told us that we are free to leave. Which we did. This place is a tourist trap. Do not fall for it. There are many great places for brunch in Leipzig as we have discovered since. This is not one of them.
Gökhan S — Google review
We went there for a late lunch and we wasnt disappointed, the food was delicious and the service was fast and the restaurant had perfect views of the city.

Located in the heart of Leipzig, Restaurant Weinstock offers a delightful dining experience with its rotating menu of seasonal soups, salads, and mains complemented by an extensive wine cellar. The venue features 90 indoor seats, an exclusive wine cellar with additional seating, and a charming summer terrace that creates a pleasant atmosphere.
A nice German restaurant in the heart of Leipzig, with beautiful interior design and outdoor tables. The service was fast and polite. They speak English and they have an English menu! Whatever we tried was very tasty, especially the schnitzel!!
Panagiotis M — Google review
Had the carpaccio and the schnitzel. Both were very good, well presented and generously served. Even the potato salad which I usually barely eat was really fine. Everything on the menu looks great and I would love to try something different another time. The service was great, there is an elegance and attention to details unfortunately not commonly found these days. A very pleasant experience and reasonably priced especially for the quality of the food, service and location.

We had to wait for a long time because they forgot our order, but they realized themselves and we didn’t have to tell them which was good. The food was very good. I had a schnitzel and I would highly recommend it.

Day tour to Leipzig, and our late lunch stop after visiting the nearby zoo. Very lovely restaurant with lots or varieties and traditional food. We went for the plate of sausages from different parts of Germany. It was really delicious but the portion for us was too big to finish but we tried all of them. I highly recommend trying it and going to the restaurant. The beer was also really good and the service really attentive and polite. Going for a late lunch was not so busy as during normal lunch as it is located in the main square. The prices are acceptable and the quality of food and service are good.

Nestled in the vibrant Plagwitz district, Kaiserbad is a delightful fusion of industrial charm and modern dining. Housed within a former iron foundry, this stylish venue boasts raw brickwork and concrete floors that are beautifully complemented by light wooden trusses and plush furnishings. The atmosphere invites guests to capture its unique aesthetic on camera while enjoying elevated European cuisine, including traditional schnitzels, fresh salads, and hearty burgers.
Great cafe in the Westwerkhalle complex, fresh salads and healthier mains! On the patio, had the Burrata, chicken salad and wine. Great service and vibe surrounded by street art. Same ownership as Volkhaus, similar but different menus.

The place is nicely decorated and there is also a cat walking around the place, which adds a touch of warmth to this restaurant. The waitress' were very polite and nice, even though they forgot about our order and we had to wait for our dishes over 30 minutes. We had two different soups, the goulash soup and black root soup, both were OK and the portions were large. As a main dish we had pasta with fungi and meat, not a star plate. And schnitzel, which was dry and lacked of any taste, so we ate two bites of every dish. A small gesture would be great for the time waiting for our dishes and the food which was barely untouched. Also, a little overpriced.
Vlada M — Google review
Wow, what a great place. Great menu, great choice of beers and cocktails. Not expensive at all. Friendly service. Lots of tasty plates to choose from on the menu. And what a superb interior! Great view on the river, on the terrace but also from the inside.

Food was fast and service at times a bit chaotic but friendly when we ordered something, the location is nice but no wow factor here. I ordered the barbecue burger and it was just OK. The cocktails however were really good. One friend ordered the curry fish and he loved it. The others ordered rice nudels with cashews from the Thai menu and they were not impressed.

We had such a lovely evening at your restaurant. Staff was very friendly, relaxed atmosphere and everyone loved their food. It had a real neighbourly vibe witnessing so many people greeting one another. Only thing to say is that it would be great to have a drinks menu even though the menu changes often, maybe a drinks menu of everything that you always got there such as cocktails and beer, then printing a separate menu for wine whenever it changes.

We always enjoy to go the Munsters and what stands out the most are the owners and their quality of the service which is rare in Leipzig. It's the worst restaurant that I had ever visited in Germany. We planned to have lunch there but we're told they don't accept credit cards. That was alright until after I was having my beer there and left my wife alone while I went to the washroom when the male waiter told off my wife for taking a used drinks coaster. That was it and I told my wife to leave it and we left after paying the bill for drinks. Take my advise and miss this place in your visit to Leipzig. Does not give a good impression of the locals there with just one incident. 😔

I can highly recommend this nice Restaurant. Yes it is a bit more expensive than a standard Restaurant. But you can expect a really good service and Quality of the food. In the vibrant city of Leipzig, there are several dining options that cater to different tastes and preferences. For those seeking high-end vegan cuisine, Zest in the trendy Connewitz neighborhood is a must-visit. Despite its unassuming appearance, this restaurant surprises diners with a menu featuring inventive dishes such as stuffed Mezzelune, birch water jelly, and linguine in vermouth-bergamot cream.
Eating at Zest today was extraordinary. It's way more than regular food. I can only recommend that everybody give it a try. It's for sure one of best meals I ever had (note that I don't said "best vegan meals"). Mad respect for you guys

Zest is not the place to come, if you want to fill your empty stomach. It is to experience a new level of creativity which is rare to see in Leipzig. We sampled only a small selection but found each and everything well balanced, containing a multitude of different tastes and nuances of haut cuisine. Amazing experience from start to finish. The service is welcoming and friendly, the food in sensational and it’s a lovely venue. It’s not cheap but I think for the quality of the food it’s actually great value - a similar experience in any other big European city would cost so much more. Well worth a visit. They have two dining slots, one from 5pm and one from 8pm. We arrived at 5 and spent a very pleasant 3 hours enjoying the food and wine on a sunny summer evening on their pavement tables. A must try in Leipzig, I can’t wait to return!
Jon B — Google review
Absolutely fantastic food, deserts and wine selection. Worths every cent!
Gregory K — Google review
The food was 5/5, there is no question about that. The service should have been better for the money. You have to wait long to order, no explanation about what you are eating, not asking for new drinks. We were in between two seatings of people and we noticed that they had issues getting everybody seated on time, which lead to the restaurant being full with standing/waiting people. The atmosphere was good and comfortable, however the door towards the toilet leads you outside first. So together with the front door it created a lot of cold air. Something that was pretty uncomfortable.

Great start, both starters and mains were wonderful, and accompanied by some fabulous wines. But... the mains were cleared, along with the empty wine bottle and after some half hour of waiting to even see a member of staff we gave up on the chance of being offered dessert or another drink and cut short what should have been a wonderful 50th birthday meal, leaving instead with a sense of bitter disappointment. Spent a lot of money for what should have been a great experience only to regret the whole thing.

(To Google: how to give more than 5 stars??) Great restaurant with authentic regional cuisines and even greater service!! We arrived at 9.30pm on a Friday evening, the staff first told us it had past last order time. But as we left he came out and called us back in, after he asked the kitchen to prepare for one more table. Another staff came rushing out to move her car so that we could park right outside the restaurant. The food and service were reviewed and awarded by Michelin so I will skip. From the moment I entered till I left, I felt welcome. To be honest, I am not a salad person, but I enjoyed every bit of mine (the starter) and would order it again. The first place I dined upon arriving in Leipzig was not disappointing at all. The waiter was welcoming and knowledgeable about food and wine. While the menu wasn't extensive, quantity does not always equate to quality. We were thoroughly pleased with our choice. My entrée was a salad with roasted avocado. I could easily be persuaded to become a vegetarian. The suite was just as delicious.

This restaurant has high ambitions, but for our Friday night dining, they unfortunately fell short. It was a very quiet night, with maybe 3 or 4 tables filled, and two staff in the kitchen and one doing service. Contrary to their website and the ad on the door, they only opened at 19 instead of 18 o'clock. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, and the interior tasteful. Unfortunately, we were somewhat cold, and even after the waiter said they'd turn up the heat, this was not resolved. The food is ambitious, and overall above average. But it does not match their ambitions or their price range: the mustard overpowered the avocado, and the tuna almost a non-entity. The quail egg was fried too long. The same flavor imbalance was obvious in the dim sum, where the semi-dry cherry tomatoes overwhelmed the otherwise interesting, I dare say fascinating, combination of fresh herbs entirely. The associated soy-tomato sauce was thin and weak. The soup was solid, even if the baked rice served an unclear purpose. The most disappointing dish was the Thai curry with halibut. The fish was not just firm, but downright dry and clearly too long in the pan. Fish should not be brittle! And the curry sauce strangely reminded me considerably of the soup before. My company had the duck however, and that was well executed, cooked to the point, and tasty. The dessert was very good. While the cream cheese foam was just slightly grainy (my guess: the white chocolate wasn't well tempered?), the passion fruit, dark chocolate mousse and milk chocolate mousse, and the outstanding cassis coconut layers were very well done indeed. Service was very friendly and professional. Overall, my best guess is that we hit either an unlucky day or the quality has declined since the ratings were awarded.

Dankbar Kaffee is a stylish cafe located in an old butcher shop in the central-west part of Leipzig's city center. During the day, visitors can enjoy international breakfast options such as Shakshuka and sourdough bread with scrambled tofu. In the evenings, the focus shifts to fine wines and a weekly changing four-course menu featuring collaborations with local producers.
Café Dankbar on Jahnallee in Leipzig is a charming spot with a unique atmosphere, housed in a beautifully restored former butcher shop. The coffee is exceptional, and the menu shines with fresh, regional ingredients—especially the dishes featuring their hearty sourdough bread, which were a real treat. The Jugendstil ceiling adds a special historic flair, and the staff is warm and welcoming. It can get a bit hectic during peak hours, and prices are slightly steep, but the quality makes up for it. Perfect for a cozy coffee break or light bite—highly recommend!

1 year later: wow what a change. Coffee is fantastic and the food is seriously great. The service changed too. Love it here! Thank you folks Nice bar for a great coffee. Just got my portion of sweet in the afternoon and was disappointed 😞. The cinnamon roll "Franzbrötchen" was dry and burnt. They tried to cover it up in a ton of sugar and cinnamon, did not work. And the piece of caramel cheesecake was... Nothing. Maybe a good cake under the cheap caramel sauce but who knows. Man cheesecakes are not that hard, but this was not salty, not crunchy, or very cheesy... Try again please. I am so sorry guys your espresso is so great and delicious but the sweets are not up for the task.

I really liked the design of this café because it’s set in an old house. However, I didn’t like the rusty tables. While they might look authentic, it’s unpleasant to think that you could get cut on them. It also seems unlikely that they can be properly cleaned. I visited on a Sunday morning and had to wait for a table a bit. The coffee was decent, but there are places where it’s made better. The shakshuka was good. It’s a nice place, but with some drawbacks, so I’m giving it 4 stars.

A café with a warm and inviting interior mood, carrying a touch of antique charm while maintaining a unique atmosphere. I visited quite late in the day, so I couldn’t try their brunch menu and settled for just coffee. It had a balanced strength and flavor, exactly the way I like it. I only wish I’d had more time to linger and savor it at a slower pace..

One of my favourite cafes in Leipzig. The coffee was creamy and well made. The pancakes were amazing, very fluffy, the serving quite big and the shakshuka didn’t disappoint either! The ambience was cosy with a unique vintage design since it’s located in a former butcher shop. The staff was very friendly. All in all a great experience. Highly recommend!

The food is just divine and made with so much love and eye to detail. Eggs Benedict are my favourite. The coffee is pure art and has a chocolate flavour to it. The interior is old made new and has so much flair, you should go especially to have a look at that, too.

One of my favorite brunch place in Germany so far! Food: Great coffee + really delicious brunch dishes. Ambience: Very cosy with the beautiful kind of antique design of the interior Service: very friendly staffs. Food and coffee are served also with a good speed! Highly recommend!

Lovely hype Cafe in Leipzig. The place used to be a butcher ! Beautiful old tiles on the wall giving you the hint of the original place. Great atmosphere with candles and not a bright light in the room. Food was very tasty. Great banana bread with yoghurts and nuts and later on we had a Tom yum soup - just perfect. Very friendly service and very helpful A must to go place in Leipzig! 👍

I’m particularly impressed by the sweetbread. Well, I love each course for that meal. It’s just perfectly fit to my personal taste. The service is good. Well deserved Michelin!

We enjoy every German attempt to improve the country's discusable gastronomic panorama. Still a tough road ahead, but happy to enjoy it.
José I — Google review
We’re currently in Leipzig and decided to check out what a Michelin-starred menu experience looks like at Frieda. I went for the classic dégustation menu and opted to add the caviar supplement, while my partner chose the vegetarian version — which, in hindsight, turned out to be a regrettable decision. As the meal progressed, we were told that the first three servings — fennel with granité and coriander, beetroot tartare with coconut and hazelnut, and a potato bread — were actually part of the amuse-bouche. We had initially assumed they were the opening courses, as listed online, but the portion sizes already raised suspicion. Taste-wise, the fennel dish was fine. The beetroot and coconut pairing felt a bit mismatched, and the hazelnuts didn’t come through at all. Surprisingly, my partner’s chive butter with the bread felt more interesting than my Iberico fat with apple and onion. The next course was meant to be a highlight for me: scallop with kaviar. As someone who’s enjoyed scallops across several starred restaurants this year — from Spain to Germany — I had high expectations. Sadly, the scallop was underwhelming. The kaviar on top dominated everything, and the quality of the scallop didn’t shine through. The pork chin and leek were more of a filler, and plating-wise, this didn’t really scream star level. Oddly enough, my partner’s umami-glazed aubergine on the vegetarian path had more presence on the plate. Next up was the asparagus. The light soup was pleasant, though both of us agreed the miso caramel completely vanished in the composition. The real high point was the Atlantic sea bass — delicate, flaky, and cooked just right. Meanwhile, the vegetarian counterpart my partner received was essentially the garnish from my dish, just with a few mushrooms thrown in. She found them bland and forgettable. My main dish, the guinea fowl, was okay. The meat could’ve used a bit more depth and seasoning, and the umami tomato paste felt overbearing. My partner’s main — a potato terrine — was a letdown. It lacked inspiration, felt more like a side than a centerpiece, and didn’t include any thoughtful protein alternative like tofu, tempeh, egg, or even cheese. Desserts started with a milk ice cream served with strawberry, lemon cream, and almond crisp — enjoyable, but nothing spectacular. The second dessert — rice cream with sour cherry, green apple, and eggnog — missed the mark. The eggnog was undetectable, and the apple element fell flat. In short: this evening came dangerously close to being underwhelming for a Michelin-starred experience. Based on other one-star restaurants we’ve visited, I’m not sure this one would stand out in a more competitive region. My partner actually left hungry, which says a lot given her small appetite. Desserts were minimal, no petit fours were served, and bread was not replenished. Carbs in general were scarce — both in the classic and vegetarian menus — and again, the vegetarian path lacked real substance in terms of protein and variety. Had my partner rated her experience alone, it would’ve been 2 out of 5. I’ll settle on 3 out of 5, thanks mostly to the friendly — albeit slightly unpolished — service. Still, three hours at the table with unexplained pauses between small courses felt stretched. Excluding tip, and with just one aperitif and two glasses of wine in total, we paid just under €320 — a price point that, as someone who dines at starred restaurants regularly and has run a restaurant myself, doesn’t quite hold up here. What was ultimately missing throughout the entire evening was that one standout dish — or even two — that stays with you for months. The kind of plate that makes you say 'wow', the moment it hits the table, and lingers in your memory like a signature moment. That’s what you come to a Michelin-starred restaurant for. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a single course that delivered that. No dish we’d rave about weeks later, no “I wish I could have that again” moment. Just nothing that earned the title of a true signature showstopper. Thanks.

We had a great dinner experience at Frieda. It’s a small restaurant so make sure you reserve. I liked the attention to detail - our menu had our name on it. They were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions (pescatarian) and the menu showcased a great variety of regional and seasonal specialties. Initially the break between the dishes was slightly too long (15min), but they were able to speed up the cadence and we were able to finish in 2.5hrs with great deserts.

Brothers Bakery & Café is a trendy hangout located in Eisenbahnstrasse, offering house-baked breads, pub meals, and espresso in an industrial-chic setting. It has become a hidden gem for food enthusiasts seeking handcrafted delicacies from the stone oven. The café serves delectable breakfast options like yogurt mixed bread, walnut baguette, and pepperoni-feta baguette. Families have also made this place their go-to spot for dining out.
The place is Turkish inspired, modern self-service restaurant that has three separate stations, burger -bakery/sweets - the rest(traditional dishes, soups, pizza, pasta) the served food is Halal. The burger was just AMAZING. lentil soup is just what you would get in any local soup shop in Turkey. A very pleasing experience. Great Halal food, fast service, clean, modern and staff were friendly and multilingual. Thank you.

Kaffeehaus Riquet Café is a century-old art nouveau café in Leipzig, offering a unique Viennese tradition experience. The café's history dates back to 1745, with its architectural gem featuring oriental influences incorporated by architect Paul Lange in 1908. The restored art deco interior provides a cozy atmosphere to enjoy Leipzig's signature sweet, Leipziger Lerche.
What a really unexpected surprise! The café was beautifully furnished with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel instantly relaxed. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and so well presented. And the cake – it was truly outstanding, the perfect finish to the meal. A place I’d be more than happy to return to again.
Elyana K — Google review
After a stroll through town, we decided to stop for a quick indulgence — and this café, with its tempting pastry display, drew us in. We ordered a slice of the house specialty and one of the nougat cake, accompanied by a cup of tea and a coffee. The house cake was excellent — well-balanced, creamy, with a subtle sweetness that didn’t try too hard. The nougat cake tasted just fine, but it arrived broken into two pieces, and this was simply ignored when served. At these prices, one would expect more care and attention to detail — especially when it comes to presentation. The drinks were decent — nothing remarkable, but they did their job. What left more of an impression, though, was the service. While one or two staff members were pleasant enough, most of them moved and spoke with the kind of energy that made you feel like placing a second order was an inconvenience. There was a noticeable lack of warmth. The interior leans into a French-inspired aesthetic, which could be charming — but the space felt a bit cramped and overfilled. With some thoughtful adjustments, it could become far more inviting. That said, if you’re here strictly for the cake, you’ll be just fine. But if you’re expecting a memorable café experience from start to finish, you may leave wishing for a bit more hospitality and a little less attitude.
Sven O — Google review
The café itself is undeniably beautiful, with a charming atmosphere and an impressive display of cakes. At first glance, it looks like the perfect spot. Unfortunately, the reality does not match the appearance. The cakes, although visually appealing, were extremely dry, dense, and not moist at all, far from the quality one would expect. The bruschetta was also very disappointing: just a slice of bread with chopped tomatoes on top, not even toasted. The service was, unfortunately, one of the worst parts of the visit. If you are not from here, do not trust the positive reviews. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. When they did not understand what we wanted, they sighed loudly and made us show photos of the cakes instead of simply allowing us to point to them in the display. When we tried to describe the cake, the staff refused, saying they only accept orders by the exact name. Even then, when they didn’t understand the name, they eventually allowed us to point, but only after much insistence. To add to this, when ordering bruschetta, the staff corrected our pronunciation. This was ironic since we are descendants of Italians and know the correct pronunciation, which makes us wonder how other guests might be treated if they happen to pronounce something differently. It is also important to note that the café was almost empty at the time of our visit, with only three other tables occupied besides ours. We were there before 9 a.m., so the poor service cannot be explained by the place being busy or overwhelmed. And even if the café had been full, that would not excuse the lack of courtesy and professionalism we experienced. Overall, while the setting of Kaffeehaus Riquet is beautiful, the food is of very poor quality and the service is unwelcoming at best. A disappointing experience that we would not recommend.
Patrícia — Google review
Brilliant service! We walked right upstairs and were greeted by a waitress who invited us to have a seat anywhere we’d like. We had a Kaffee Riquet, an Elefantenkaffee, a Leipziger lerche, a Bach Torte, and a Wiener Torte. To be honest, we found the drinks and cakes underwhelming. The only thing that we could say we loved was the Leipziger Lerche. The two kinds of coffee were “interesting” to taste, but do not expect them to taste like modern day coffee. Anyway, we went there, well aware of the value of Cafe Riquet as a place of history. It didn’t surprise us that the food didn’t meet our expectation. We went there mainly to experience the taste and the ambiance of the past.
Soonyata M — Google review
The restaurant was full and some seating was available upstairs. The tables are very small and the restaurant is not very spacious. As you can see the food we ordered didn't fit on the table we had to resort to leaving other plates we hadn't finished and then eating what was brought out. Service was very slow but expected as it's busy. I'd recommend reserving as some tables were in undesirable places like in front of the door or in hallways. Really nice selection of teas and drinks too.
Devina A — Google review
Very cute and dreamy cafè that makes you desperate to have that one-night to spend with the love of your life romance, the French vibes mixed with the rich history — that they are not afraid to share — is a perfect mix with their heavenly vienna chocolate and their rich cakes. The food and drinks are worth their money and are fair for not only the delectables but also for the nice staff and interesting people you might get the chance of meeting there. The €20-30 price p.p. was for a full breakfast with food and drinks.

I was sat immediately at a table by a window today, with my dog. Busy staff but professional and attentive. The “maracuja” cake looked good but barely tasted of passion fruit. I paid 10 Euros for fresh mint tea and cake which I found reasonable. I didn’t stay long though as it was busy.

Located along the White Elster Canal about 2.6 km from the city center of Leipzig, Ouzeri Was.Kost.Das offers a unique Greek dining experience. Unlike typical German-style Greek restaurants, this place serves up delicious and authentic Greek dishes instead of the usual gyro and fries. Visitors rave about the super tasty food that caters to all tastes, including options for vegetarians and kids.
Food was very good and as close as it could get to real greek taste. The way oregano was used on the top of grilled meat to add flavour is similar to traditional taverns in Greece. Portions are the size of "meze", similar to "tapas" therefore multiple plate options should be chosen and shared among people in order to get the original experience of an "ouzeri". There are various Ouzo and Wine options to choose from as well.

An unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm welcome and attentive service set the tone for the evening. The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, making it perfect for both a special occasion and a relaxed night out. The menu offered a wonderful balance of creativity and tradition. Decided to try this place because of the good reviews, but the experience was disappointing! After being seated, we were left waiting for a while before anyone took our order, and then it took about another 45 minutes for the food to arrive so over an hour from when we first got there. Other tables who got there afterwards were served much faster, which felt discriminatory. The food itself was just okay, not worth the long wait, and overall the place didn’t feel very international-friendly. I wouldn’t return.

Watching other people enjoy delicious bowls of ramen noodles is something that has always made me envious, but now I'm finally brave enough to try it for myself. Located in Leipzig, Umaii Ramenbar offers a traditional Japanese experience with tasty bowls of ramen noodles served up hot and full of flavour. You can also choose to enjoy the restaurant's signature yakitori skewers or steamed buns - both perfect starters to a meal.
I liked that it was conveniently located in the city center and easy to find. We visited on Friday at 12:40 PM without a reservation, and fortunately, we were seated right away without any wait. The restaurant seemed to have put effort into creating a Japanese ambiance; it was well-organized, comfortable, and had a casual vibe. I appreciated that the menu displayed both the names and pictures of the dishes, making it easy to choose without much deliberation. There were two of us, and we paid €45.90, which I think is a reasonable amount considering the taste of the food and the atmosphere. (Please refer to the attached photo for the menu items we ordered and their prices.) The flavor of the ramen was somewhat different from what I experienced in Japan, but it was still the most authentic-tasting Japanese ramen I've had among the ones I've tried in Europe. Now, whenever I crave Japanese ramen, I will definitely come back to this place.👍🏻

The interior of the restaurant is clean, and the staff are friendly. It feels like they really tried to recreate an authentic Japanese atmosphere, but unfortunately, the taste didn’t match the vibe. I honestly couldn’t figure out what the broth was supposed to taste like—it was a complete mystery until the very last spoonful. Normally, I enjoy almost any kind of Japanese ramen, but this time I just couldn’t make sense of the flavor.

An excellent place with the ocean Ramen. The duck Ramen was also very good. The portions are big, so would be sufficient for the lunch. The service was excellent.

To our taste the pork meat in Chashu ramen was too heavy and not good, around 80% lard and 20% meat. So we did not enjoy. Wouldn’t visit again or recommend the place. I am sure my review will be deleted, as my partner’s review was, that seems really unfair. But hopefully it still helps someone to make a decision about dining in this place.

Pretty place, both indoor and outdoor dining. Though there was sewage smell when seated outdoors. The food looked very pretty, but the taste was average. Both ramen and udon noodles were overcooked, the broth was tasteless. Having eaten ramen through Japan and Asia we had higher expectations. But still a pretty place with nice service.

(Translated by Google) I was invited to my birthday by dear friends and was able to spend a wonderful day and evening at Apel's Garden. We first sat outside on the patio, which, with its view of flowering plants and lovingly designed details, offered a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there with delicious wine and good food. As it later became cooler, we moved inside and continued the evening in an ambiance that is both stylish and steeped in history. Apel's Garden has a tangible connection to Goethe, which is also reflected in the tasteful interior decor, which gives the restaurant a special touch. The service staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We never had to wait long and felt well looked after and welcome throughout. The food was delicious, lovingly prepared, and attractively presented. Later in the evening, we treated ourselves to a cheese platter, which was also delicious and perfectly rounded off the evening. It was an all-round successful birthday, one that I will fondly remember for a long time. Apel's Garden is a place with history, atmosphere and soul and I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Leipzig, PILOT is a delightful eatery that captures the essence of modern dining with its bright and inviting atmosphere. This trendy spot offers a diverse menu featuring breakfast options, fresh salads, and bistro-style mains that highlight traditional East German cuisine. It's not just a favorite among theatergoers from the nearby Schauspielhaus; locals, students, and professionals flock here for its seasonal dishes and friendly service.
A rather trendy place, highly frequented outside and in, year round. Located in a fashionable area with many restaurants. Service is friendly, swift, accommodating. The menu rotates, and is of decent quality, though the prices may seem a bit steep (especially for students), hence the question of value for money might come up. A safe choice, on the whole, for lunch, dinner, or a quick bite.

Restaurant Michaelis in Leipzig offers a limited menu with basic, rustic dishes that are just okay, but nothing particularly memorable. The atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming—despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only three occupied tables, the waiter had to check with the kitchen to see if they could accommodate two more guests, which felt unnecessarily inconvenient. The wine selection was mediocre, failing to impress. While the food wasn’t bad, the overall experience left much to be desired, and I wouldn’t feel inclined to return for a second visit.

5* doesn't give any justice on how mind-blowing is this restaurant. Yes, it's bib gourmand recommended (that's how I found them), so something special was expected, but they surpassed all my expectations by lightyears (and I know that lightyear actually means time 😉). We spent an amazing evening there, we were treated with the best essence of hospitality, catering and culinary art and I'm still crying from joy when I think about it. Our waiter defied his young age - my friend didn't make his work easy but he was fully on par with him even in the jokes and they ended up in rounds of entertaining conversations as the evening progressed. He hasn't stopped being extremely attentive and polite while still staying relaxed and informal. Excellent start for sure. I went for the Menu III, which was all vegetarian (while I'm not 😊), because I was curious. 2 appetizers were also included - good start for testing the waters, but even only one week later I don't really remember what they were beyond being delicious. What I do recall is the first course - and how surprised we both were. For me it was melon in a very toned down garnish (sorry for the heavy-handed simplification) - nice harmonies, different materials combined but nothing really extraordinary. Looking back, I'm pretty sure we were tricked there, fooled to believe that there's nothing to be seen here: it's a decent restaurant with a capable chef, we eat a nice dinner but we forget it 2 days later. And that's exactly what NOT happened, but quite the opposite: the main course arrived and whatever was kept at bay until that point, was unleashed. I'm brave enough to admit: I cried from the joy, what the main course (grilled eggplant is not supposed to be this heavenly) and the dessert (cheese plates are not supposed to be this unbelievable) caused inside me. Flavours, textures, colours, temperatures whirled in perfect, complementing harmony - all of our senses were under this amazing, flawlessly orchestrated and delivered attack and I didn't want it to end. I was lucky enough to eat in a few Haute cuisine places already, but this evening at Michaelis will be my new personal benchmark. The strongest (let alone a sole) reason for visiting Leipzig from now on - thank you!

Excellent restaurant. Dishes are playfully creative but not over the top. Expertly put together with a wide range of seasonal ingredients. The service team is very charming and attentive. The wine list has a lovely selection of delicious and surprisingly inexpensive wines which makes the entire fine dining experience thoroughly enjoyable and very good value for money. Will be going back on my next visit to Leipzig!

(Translated by Google) We had a reservation at Restaurant Michaelis and had an absolutely wonderful evening. Our waitress was very friendly and authentic, which made us feel immediately at home. The three-course menu with matching wine pairing was a true taste experience – beautifully presented and delicious. The value for money was also absolutely convincing. A restaurant that will stay with us forever, and one that we would happily recommend. We would return anytime. PEKAR is a lively pizzeria with outdoor seating, offering an array of innovative pizzas, salads, and small bites until late hours. The dough is a standout feature, made from flour ground by Voigtland BioMuhle and left to mature for at least 72 hours. The restaurant prides itself on using regional and organic ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Regulars praise the establishment's consistency and creativity in its menu offerings beyond pizza.
Happy to have come across this nice pizza place. Super unusual combinations, was something new and very, very good! I am super conservative with pizzas, but this was a great exception!

Delicious pizzas. We ordered Cynara and Mollie along with Olives and Amaretti. All the ordered items were fresh and delicious. One of best Pizzas in Leipzig. Highly recommend😀

Really liked my spinach pizza, wine and the olives. Still not 100 percent convinced that it's worth a reservation more than a week in advance, feels more like a "no reservations" place.

They never miss. The menu is great and they deliver what they promise. The dough is also some of the best I have ever tried. Last time they forgot our order (twice :)) but they were really kind about it, and offered us an appetizer and dessert for free.

One of the best Mushroom pizzas I have ever had. Definitely recommend. Arancini was good too but one can find the Cheese sauce a little too strong. All in all very friendly and helpful staff and delicious food. I’ll be going there again.

The pizza of my dream. Thin, cripspy and still moist dough. Flavorful and creative topping combination. Stunning and mouth-watering appetizers and desserts. Yes, the service is sometimes odd, yes sometimes you have to wait a bit long for your orders. But the flavor here is so unbeatable! Make sure to try the tacos! Hint: They don't have a phone number. Ordering a table via Facebook is the best, as their reply email normally falls into your spam folder.

Nestled in the charming neighborhood of Schleussig, Kuultivo is a culinary gem that has quickly gained recognition since earning its Michelin star in April 2023. This cozy restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its creative revolving menus featuring seasonal dishes and expertly crafted cocktails. Guests can enjoy outdoor seating while savoring a thoughtfully curated four or five-course meal, perfect for both intimate dinners and group lunches.
Fantastic. Staff was super nice, food tasted amazing and for food of this quality, the price was not too bad! The taste journey throughout our evening there was well-thought out, perfectly balanced on most (not all, unfortunately) dishes and I left the place with a good feeling. Bit inconsistent in wine-menu in types.. (which was also very lacking in regards to the journey) as we had the wine pairing which wasn’t as impressive a journey. If they nail that then this I would classify as a “must eat at” restaurant.

This is a pleasant place with original cuisine. Our evening began with delicious wine. The restaurant staff provided very detailed and clear descriptions throughout our gastronomic tour. We enjoyed the unusual flavor combinations and variations of dishes. The atmosphere in the restaurant invites you to immerse yourself and savor the flavors. The presentation of the dishes is very minimalist but attractive. The cost is quite high, but the experience is worth it. I recommend everyone to opt for the wine pairing.

A great place to enjoy Michelin star cuisine in a more Leipziger way. The restaurant takes away the poshiness of what you typically would expect in such a place and gives you a sense of friendly neighborhood wine bar with exquisite cuisine!

What a blissful evening! The menu to die for; not knowing what to order as everything sounded and tasted amazing. Beets on beets and celeriac avocado were amazing. My friends equally glorified slow cooked pork and lasagna! On top of that amazing service and a chef who found time to come and really chat with us :) he is a magician and an amazing human being! Thank you for reminding me how good food should taste and look like. We shall come again and soon :)

The only restaurant of its kind in Leipzig, with cooking that could be called neo-bistro with an Italian twist. A focus on fresh ingredients and a creative menu is what you'll get here. The wine list is also great, with a focus on natural European wines. Their three-course menu for 30 euros is an excellent value for the quality of cooking here.

Cute coffee place in Leipzig. They also have some snacks and cocktails. People there are super friendly. Unfortunately some of the workers do not know how to make a proper italian coffee. Do not expect Barrista quality. The best about the place is really the place itself: It is beautiful. Unfortunately I almost stoped going there since the coffee isn't good which is kind of a shame. PS.:I would appreciate more vegan food choices like vegan sandwiches or Burgers 😀and much better trained workers (regarding the coffee) The food is mostly mediocre as well.

L'Osteria Leipzig is a delicious Italian restaurant with super friendly staff. The pizzas are amazing and they have an extensive menu of Mediterranean dishes. They're open for lunch and dinner, and they have outdoor seating as well as wheelchair accessible seating. They also serve alcohol, so it's the perfect place to enjoy a great meal with friends or family.
Amazing place, spacious both inside and outside, despite the crowd on a weekday I still got a table. The pizza is really big for a man like me too (order 1 for a couple) and also very delicious. I saw many leftovers from other not too hungry people, hopefully it doesn't get wasted. The interiors look charming and the music is also very pleasant. There are a lot of beautiful friendly girls among the staff. The toilet is extra clean, so you don't get disappointed there either. Plus it is open for a long time. Overall I think this is the best place I have ever visited. Cheers!

Really convenient location in city center. Huge seating area inside and also a huge patio area to enjoy the beautiful weather. We had no wait which was great since we didn't have a lot of time so we appreciated the fast service as well. We shared the Ceasar Pizza and were pleasantly surprised when it was served on 2 plates without having to ask. It was delicious. L'Osteria is always a great choice.

We had dinner here tonight and it was honestly a very disappointing experience. It took nearly 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and then another 40 minutes until the food finally arrived. When the pizza came out, a piece of it had already been removed, which was shocking to see. When we asked the waiter, he casually said that part of it was burnt and they just took it off — no apology, no professionalism. He even told us that if we wanted a new pizza, we’d need to wait another 40 minutes. The staff’s attitude felt careless and dismissive, and not once did anyone apologize for the situation. For such a popular restaurant chain, this was far below any reasonable standard. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all.
Ayshan S — Google review
İ went with my 4 person family. We choosed our dinner. Drinks were served and our dinner came until this point everything goes well. But something is missing. Exactly fork and knives and tissue is missing. The pizza is bigger then the plate. The pizza is touching to the table. We saw to the next table that they had a service paper under the plate. The table is to small if you order 4 pizza at the same time.
Tansu Ç — Google review
I like this restaurant foods but service is little bit slow. I recommend.
Hasan A — Google review
The service was lovely and far above the local standard. Our waitress was attentive, and we even received a compensation for one of the dishes that was inedible — which was much appreciated. That brings me to the next point: the quality of the food. Unfortunately, all of the main courses were served lukewarm, the "fresh" pasta was hard, and overall, the food quality was quite poor. In that regard, this place unfortunately aligns with the usual local standard.
Moran K — Google review
Nice restaurant, cappuccino and a dessert were very tasty, kind waiters. Will visit again!
Veronika K — Google review
I really love the idea that you can order one pizza with two flavours. Like other customers have already pointed out in the reviews: the size is triple your face hahah But guys, I recommend trying out their special offers. I had one pizza with half of it being with four cheeses (from regular menu) and the other half, with three mushrooms (special offer). As someone who loves cheese pizzas, I must say I liked the mushroom one more. With some additional salt it was a wow-wow-woooow!!! In the evening, the atmosphere feels homey and relatively busy and noisy. However, I didn't mind it because the noise makes it lively and in my opinion, adds a nice touch to the experience. Made me feel like I was abroad, not in Leipzig. :D

The pizza was burned and the waiter never returned. I ate the unburned parts. The waiter brought the bill and shrugged his shoulders when I showed him the pizza. Without prior disclosure, a service charge was also added to the bill, and I was told it was standard at their establishment.

The best feature is certainly its proximity to the Thomaskirche, one of Bach's church. They specialize in Italian food and the pizza with salami was fantastic. They also had a tasty winter warmer on tap.

The server added +10% tip to the bill without asking. When he put the payment machine in front of us, we asked for the bill, he said after we paid we could get the bill. You can't decide for customers whether or not they tip you. Especially unanounced and untransparant.

Honestly this is easily in my top three pho spots in Germany, maybe even in Europe.. To be fair, it might have tasted even better because I was starving on a rainy day. I went on a weekday around 9 PM, so it wasn’t too busy. After finishing my meal, I wrapped things up with a delicious Vietnamese coffee, which unfortunately made it a bit hard to sleep that night….. Still, I’d highly recommend this place for some seriously good Vietnamese food right in the heart of Leipzig!

Restaurant
Gosenschenke Ohne Bedenken Inh. Loreen Heinrich is a rustic 1899 tavern located in Leipzig, Germany, offering traditional Saxon cuisine and Leipzig Gose beer. The tavern features a large beer garden shaded by trees and is housed in a stylish multistory building with classical sensibilities. It is known for reviving the gose Ritterguts style and remains the only open Gosenschenke worldwide.
Our European Beer tour guide (from US) bought us here for our dinner and that was a great choice! But only bad things about this place is the waiter of waitresses doesn’t speak much of English, this is really authentic local German restaurant! If you found this place on the Google Maps, you have to come, but you have to be patient here with the slow service to receive your meals. This is not the place for a quick bite! We really enjoyed the beer and food we ordered. If God permits us to visit Leipzig again, we will love to have another meal here!

We were just trying to find a nice restaurant to visit on our first night in Leipzig. We stumbled across this restaurant and we are very glad that we did. The beers (Gose in particular) were amazing, and the food was great too. The waiters were also very kind to us and made it a great night. Highly recommend.

As the trainer of the Dutch Team that attended the "Weltmeisterschaft der Biersommeliers 2025", I must say after 3 days tasting Gose in Leipzig, Edelgose is, for me, albeit by just a small lead: The best Gose in town at this moment in time 🍻

As the name suggests, it's a beer garden for a relaxing time. It's a little away from the bustle of the city center and is a calm Biergarten filled with trees. They boast the award winning Edelgose on tap along with a few other freshly brewed bier. If you visit during the summer, be sure to try the famous Märzen Bier. The also have a popular kitchen in the garden along with a historic indoor dining room. Feel free to ask for a visit! Suggestions: Edelgose, Kellergold, Märzen

Lovely place with great atmosphere, cheerful staff, and an impressive menu full of local and general German specialities. Beware: the portions are very generous!! They have a dopple gose on the menu that is pretty unusual, as well as an amazing kümmelbrot (caraway bread) liqueur. A must-visit on a trip to Leipzig

Zchảcá Restaurant is a cozy Asian-inspired restaurant in downtown Leipzig. With an open kitchen, seating for up to 40 people, and an attached patio, it's perfect for groups. The menu features Japanese and Asian cuisine with a fusion twist, as well as unique Vietnamese and seafood dishes. The service is friendly and fast, making it a popular spot for lunch or dinner.
Lovely food. Having just moved from South East Asia, and missing the food a lot, this was some lovely cooking to enjoy! Flavours were great, service and servings were prompt and we loved the combo of Japanese and Vietnamese food. The table decor was cute also with the flowers and we enjoyed our meal (though it was not cheap!).

We liked the fresh mint and fresh ginger tea and can recommend it. The red curry was good and had a good amount of veggies in it. The sofa style seating can be made more comfortable.

Surprisingly great find. Initially we were skeptical of Vietnamese-Thai-Japanese mix but they fulfilled their menu well. Food was very fresh and tasty. They are kid friendly. And even if you don’t speak German and try to order using Google translator - they will understand. Great atmosphere and superb service. Everyone who had a $hitt7 schnitzel and looking for some flavor should visit this place

Julius W — Google review
Went here last night and honestly, I really wanted to like this place — it looks great and the atmosphere overall is quite nice. Unfortunately, that’s about where the positives end. Service? Pretty rough. The main issue was the manager — he was visibly stressed, frantic, and came across as totally unprofessional. After seating us, he moved us to another table like we were an inconvenience, and then didn’t even inform the waitstaff about the change. So we ended up waiting around awkwardly while they tried to figure out what was going on (not a criticism of the wait staff but of the manager). This set a chaotic tone to the evening. The food looked promising, beautifully plated, but the flavour just didn’t deliver. Everything felt a bit… bland? Like it had potential, but no follow-through. And while the restaurant has a nice vibe in general, we were seated in a dimly lit corner surrounded by crying children. Not exactly the dinner mood we were hoping for. Overall, disappointed. Great aesthetics, but style over substance in both food and service.

Absolutely great food. The oriental waitresses were very friendly. The good itself was amazing and good to have a view in the open kitchen. The cooks seemed to enjoy their work.

The Café Kandler is a traditional coffee house in the heart of Leipzig. It has a pleasing ambiance and friendly staff, and its ice coffee is great.
Charming cafe in the city centre. Right across the St. Nicholas church. The desserts are delicious and the coffee is excellent. We had their speciality Leipziger Räbchen and it was really good.

We seated ourselves 15 minutes before they closed, but they kindly still took our order. The cakes were surprisingly good, not too sweet or heavy. The Yuzu tart was refreshing. The Wiener iced coffee was better than in Vienna itself. Glad we made the stop for cake.
Serene D — Google review
Very good selection of cakes. A bit pricey, especially for Leipzig, but nevertheless delicious. Coffee and hot chocolate was not so good, that'a why 4/5
Cansu Y — Google review
We waited at the table for almost 25 minutes, and there were four of us. After waiting so long, they ignored us and served the new table that arrived. Is the problem here that the staff didn't pay as much attention to us as they did to the German tourists, or were they trying to be racist?????? Ve bunların hiçbirinin işyerinde iyi bir izlenim bıraktığını düşünmüyorum.
Cem B — Google review
This coffee is in a very good location and you have to admit - the ambiance is cosy ! Cakes are good - not extraordinary but worth their price - and coffees were ok, but too much cream for me. Price was a bit too much - 5 euros for a coffee with Eierlikor und Sahne is a bit expensive for Leipzig. Good place if you want to have a cosy coffee time with your loved one :)

We had Bach pot coffee, original lerche and Bach chocolate - it was like a Leipzig speciality day! - I be already tried other Lerche before, that was really bad, but here you can have yummy one :)) the coffee was too much light. but I really love this cafe bc the staff was amazing nice and friendly and gentle. I would love to visit here definitely :))

Great cafe to sample the Leipzig delicacies of Leipziger Lerche and the Leipziger Räbchen. Both are perfect for anyone who enjoys marsipan. The Leipziger Räbchen is small round donuts that comes with a cinnamon custard which was simply delicious whilst the Leipziger Lerche is a tart with jam filling and marsipan.

Café Maître and Pâtisserie is a charming art nouveau café and patisserie that has been delighting guests for over a century with its French-inspired interior and cuisine. The breakfast menu offers a variety of French delicacies, from simple combinations like croissants with jam to more elaborate platters designed to be shared.
My partner and I went for breakfast to this place. We ordered a breakfast for two. We also ordered coffee for both of us. The breakfast was perfect for two or three person's. Very nice spot, nice beers and we had the quiche which was very delicious. Sadly the service wasn't what you would expect. One of the waiters was wearing his AirPods. Over all they were still nice but we had to wait a long time for some orders. Overall still a good place.

I’ve grabbed my coffee a few times from there, but the last time, the lady who works there (at the ice cream bar) approached me and said, “We don’t have water, so you can’t place your usual order!” It was 9am, and I thought, okay, no problem. I grabbed my coffee from a different place, but on my way back a few minutes later, I found a bunch of people drinking their coffee both outside and inside the café 😅! I believe I know the reason behind the incident since I’m not a local!! Very disappointing and absolutely disgusting behaviour 🤮

Steak house
Restaurant
Steaktrain is a unique hotel steakhouse designed to resemble a vintage dining car, offering an exceptional dining experience. The restaurant serves a variety of high-quality meat cuts such as bison and Holstein beef, known for its fine marbling and superior flavor. Steaks are prepared on a 300-degree lava grill with open fire, resulting in an incomparable grilled taste. Located in Leipzig and modeled after the authentic Orient Express, the interior features original accessories creating a cozy atmosphere.
I had high expectations visiting this steakhouse, which is already famous for its steaks, and I was very satisfied. I have often been disappointed by other well-known restaurants I was excited to try, but this place provided me with satisfaction instead of disappointment. Not only was the steak delicious, but the side dishes that accompanied it were also very tasty. The interior was inspired by trains, as suggested by the restaurant's name, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the Orient Express. The staff was friendly and courteous, and we visited for dinner on a weekend at 5 PM and left at 7 PM; it wasn't overly crowded, allowing us to enjoy our meal in a comfortable and relaxed environment. I appreciated being able to freely choose from two types of sauces and two types of side dishes that came with the steak, and the portions were very generous, leaving us very full after our meal. I especially recommend the 'Kartoffelstampf mit Trüffelöl' and 'Süßkartoffelpommes.' ( Reference: The location is very convenient for public transportation, making it easy to visit without a car. There is also a staircase installed for access from the lobby of the 'Seaside Park Hotel,' which adds to the convenience.)

Nice to sit in a restaurant that looks like a train. Good quality meat and a wide choice of side dishes. Service is efficient and friendly. Making a reservation is recommended.

Very interesting train car theme, but more interesting than that was the food. My god the steaks were heavenly. For an appetizer we got the salmon tatar and for entrees we got the tomahawk, fillet, and swordfish. Service was friendly and timely. They were very accommodating when they found we were English speaking as well (English menus and speaking in English) The only thing my friends found that was maybe not up to the standard that everything else was, was the gnocchi side they both got, the mushrooms, onion rings, and fries were all excellent sides.

ADEYEMI O — Google review
A lovely place in the center of Leipzig with a great selection of steaks and cuts of beef. Every main dish has two side dishes included, I'd recommend their home made fries and mushrooms with herbs, they go just great with a hearty portion of steak and some herb butter and truffle butter. Their tomahawk steak seems a bit challenging at first but with such a great flavour it's the perfect size for steak lovers. The staff is very friendly and helpful, we had a reservation for two but we had another friend joining us and they managed to find us place in a few moments. They have a pretty big selection of wines also for every taste. The interior is designed like inside the dining wagon of a train and it's very comfortable. Give them a visit and you won't regret it.
Ferencz O — Google review
Shock and surprise of our visit! This place was fantastic with exceptional service and food. Very low key entry way leads to an amazing old train like dining area. Food was incredible with the swordfish coming in at a size that far exceeded expectations. The veal chop was amazingly well prepared and plentiful. All four sides did not disappoint either. Formal dinner for two with 5 assorted cocktails was under 100 euro. Will absolutely do again.

This is the real deal! This is the first and only Thai restaurant I've tried in Leipzig that actually has delicious, authentic Thai food, with dishes and flavours you'd expect to find in Thailand. Everywhere else I've tried is so "meh" and just catered for the German taste in comparison. We have not yet had a dish we didn't like here. This place makes real Thai food, with the corresponding spice level. We will be regulars from now on as long as they remain authentic and not transform into milquetoast like all the other "Asian" or supposed Thai places we've found in Leipzig.

Hotel Seeblick in Leipzig's Sudvorstadt is a popular spot for students and anyone looking to recover from a hangover. Despite its name, the cafe doesn't offer lake views but makes up for it with a casual GDR-style interior. The place is known for serving an extensive breakfast until 4 pm, featuring options like Portuguese almond pastries, bagels, pancakes, and eggs on toast. Additionally, the hotel offers delicious drinks and various vegan dishes throughout the day.
Very cosy and cool place. The employees are very respectful and welcoming. It’s recommended to reserve a table before visiting. Although me and my wife had not reserved but finally they found a table for us and our friend to have sometimes to gather. Recommended!!!
Ishaq A — Google review
The Best Sea-less View in Leipzig! If you ever find yourself in Leipzig with a sudden craving for the high seas and an English breakfast, Hotel Seebkick is the place to go! Ironically, there’s no view of the sea here—unless you count the picturesque waves of concrete and traffic right outside. But don't let that stop you, because their English breakfast (Hotel Seaview) is a delightful, albeit not-so-authentic, surprise. I give their English breakfast a solid 7 out of 10. The bacon was crisp, the eggs were sunny-side up and cheery as a British morning, and the baked beans were, well, bean-like. The sausage, though tasty, seemed to have wandered in from a bratwurst convention down the street. The toast was perfectly golden. Despite the geographical and culinary quirks, the staff’s friendly service made it feel like a little piece of home, if home were a landlocked city in Germany. So, if you're in Leipzig and want an English breakfast with a splash of German flair and a sea of imagination, set sail for Hotel Seebkick. Just don’t forget your sense of humor and your map, because you won’t be navigating any actual waves here. Guten Appetit and ahoy, matey!

I review only the restaurant, which I wouldn't recommend. I went here two times and both times the service was terrible. We waited unbelievably long for everything.. menu 30 minutes, drinks 45 minutes, ... after giving the sign that we want to leave they tried to fix it but our stressfree breakfast was done since we now had some time pressure up. The food was alright but nothing great either. Anyways, I will never come here again.

Meh :-/ Went there years and years ago for breakfast and had his place in good memory, But this time....hm, waiters forgot our drinks, our food, our side dishes as well. And wobbly tables....gaah! But I'll go there another time anyway, hopefully this was only a fluke.

We had high hopes but we're disappointed. Online says they open at 9am. On their door says they open at 9am. We arrive at 915am and they said they don't open until 10am. To me, it felt like they just didn't feel like opening until then. There were 5 staff members there, 3 of them were drawing on the windows. Apparently a group effort. The other two drinking coffee and running around. So we sat and watched them draw on the windows for 45 minutes. Ordered "The California" which came with two big pancakes. It came with a very small, tablespoon size bowl of syrup. So we immediately asked the waitress for more syrup. She said it would be between 1-2 euros for more!?!? Are you kidding me??? For syrup, for pancakes we ordered? And is it 1 or 2 euros for a tablespoon of syrup?? .Out of principle we said no. RIDICULOUS!!! So that ruined the meal for us as the pancakes were EXTREMELY dry. She never came to check on us, but stood at the counter blowing her nose and NOT WASHINH HER HANDS (we are in COVID times right?) and chatting with the chef. We were the only two people in the restaurant. Restaurant is also very old and dusty. My husband called it vintage because of the look and smell. I thought that was a generous comparison. IT'S JUST DIRTY. AVOID!!!!!!
Grundys G — Google review
Customer service at its worst- Jule Kay don't work in hospitality! First of all the waitress Jule Kay was more busy with having an argument with her colleague right beside our table rather than paying attention to us. Awkward! Secondly my wife's salad was served with what appeared to be a pubic hair. The Jule Kay waitress did not apologise to us at all and had nothing better to do than suggesting we placed it there so we would not have to pay for it. We left although we were really looking forward to a peaceful lunch with our baby boy. We will never be back and kindly suggest the owner does not let rude kids run his business......If you like hygiene and good service avoid Hotel Seeblick at all costs!

I live near this café and end up there from time to time when I have to meet someone out. It's admittedly a really nice place to have a beer, but the food I had the last time I was there convinced me to finally write a review. I'll recap my past three experiences. (Background: I am a mild-mannered person and am ALWAYS polite to the people who handle my food, for obvious reasons.) 1. Ordered minestrone. €7. The vegetables were almost raw and the broth was just hot water with no flavor, although it did have a thick layer of orange oil floating on it. My guess is that they took their pasta salad, poured boiling water over it, and served it to me. 2. Ordered pancakes. €8. They were still raw batter inside. Not just a bit moist -- actually gross raw batter. 3. Ordered a lox bagel sandwich (salmon, cream cheese, vegetables). €7. Asked them to please give me extra cream cheese and charge me for it. (I really like cream cheese.) Waiter says that's okay, writes it down. The bagel comes and there's not much cream cheese on it. I politely ask the waiter whether the extra was forgotten, and he says: "Es wurde nicht vergessen. Es wurde nicht umgesetz." ("It wasn't forgotten. They didn't do it.") He explains to me that the kitchen refused to add cream cheese because it would prevent the bagel sandwich from standing up. I say that's fine, but can I have some in a little cup on the side or something (what I'd expected anyway)? That works out and the bagel is fine. 1./2./3. The wait staff has been really nice, but service is very, very slow. Like, 30 minutes for a drink order slow. I think they're chronically understaffed. So, that's it: Bad food twice, denied extra cream cheese once for a weird reason. Nice wait staff, slow service, not the staff's fault. Okay-ish prices. Pretty place. I don't mind going there for a drink, but to me, this place will forever be Hotel Shitblick.

Gallo Negro in Leipzig is a Mexican restaurant that offers modern and delicious Mexican cuisine. The place has received mixed reviews, with some praising the high-quality food and friendly service, while others have criticized the small portion sizes and slow service. Despite some drawbacks, many customers are willing to give it another chance due to its unique concept and tasty dishes like Tacos Pastor. Overall, Gallo Negro seems to be a promising spot for those seeking authentic Mexican flavors in Leipzig.
Great authentic Mexican place. Tacos were superb (4 instead of 3 on Tuesdays), and the margarita pitchers we tucked into were excellent. Hard to not order more! 4 of us shared some proper Nachos (none of the cheap crisps with some cheese sprinkled on top rubbish) and 5 types of taco (perfect for splitting on Taco Tuesday night!)… plus a couple of beers and two margarita pitchers for €40, which was decent. One of our party spoke Spanish with the waitress, which was cool, and the owners are actually Mexican, and service was good for a relaxed Tuesday.

I'll start with the good. The atmosphere was great, with good/chill music and lights. It's a comfortable place to have some drinks and catch up with friends. I ordered a Quesadilla Polo with chicken and a cola zero. The food was a bit average taste wise. Please have a look at the picture attached. The consistency of the cheese showed that it may not have been fresh, with similar microwaved cheese consistency. However, the guacamole on the side was okay. After eating, I asked for the bill, and the waitress came back and said it was 20 euros but didn't present a receipt showing the cost breakdown(1st red flag). She further asks if I'll pay with cash or card. I paid with a card plus a 7% tip. Thereafter, I asked for the receipt because I suspected something was off, and I needed to confirm the actual price. She took a while before coming back, and eventually said that she apologised for the mix-up that my bill was actually 16 euros, according to the printed invoice. Quesadilla Polo- 12,5 euros, and Cola light 3,5 euros. She therafter returns 4 euros. This may have been an honest mistake or a very dishonest attempt to get more money from a non-german speaking person. Nevertheless, I'll advise you to ask for a receipt whenever you visit this establishment and cross-check what you're paying for/ change you receive.

Really happy about this place. Starters are a little expensive, but the Tacos are worth their money. And the staff is super friendly. Of course we had Micheladas, but they call it Clamato here.
Daniel M — Google review
Way to expensive for the portion sizes also took a bit long. The food was good but not worth the price, also based on the area it’s located in
Tim W — Google review
A cosy environment: very friendly service stuff and the owners themselves. Better to reserve as it might be full. Enjoyable music: salsa, cumbia, pop etc. A small variety of dishes which should be "authentic" and taste really well (due to my Mexican friends). Margarita cocktail with tamarind was what I loved the most. Prices are really high: around 10 euros for pretty small portions. Insight: the restaurant produces it's own nachos and tortillas for tacos (a big "+")!
Valeriia T — Google review
Service was wonderful! The Tacos Pastor were really tasty, but sadly breaking quite easy. It should be double tortillas. A little overpriced for the small portion aswell. Nonetheless, I would eat here again. Play out your strength by being one of the only Taco places in town!🙏🏽

Chulo is more than just a Nepalese restaurant in Leipzig; it's an immersive cultural experience. The friendly owner, originally from Nepal, eagerly shares his culture with guests and the restaurant is adorned with books about Nepal. Despite being busy, the atmosphere is relaxed and stress-free. The food is outstanding, with generous portions at reasonable prices. Guests rave about the delicious vegetarian options and flavorful curries. The restaurant also features a charming conservatory at the back.
This restaurant is a great place to enjoy Napalese food in Leipzig. My classmates really had a great time here. Highly recommended!!
Trọng L — Google review
Had a lot of high expectations from this place but got utterly disappointed. Food was not upto the mark and definitely not worth the money. Went there because we heard a lot of good reviews from our friends but did not expect this. We did give this feedback to the woman in charge. She was kind enough to acknowledge that so I hope next time services will improve.
Ananya B — Google review
A very nice experience over all. Fun to try new food, interesting flavour and new spices (not spicy hot). We ordered a dish with 5 different small dishes, I really enjoied the spicemixes and flavour combos, really recommend! The owner was nice and could talk about the food and traditions. We bought some spice-mixes and merch 😊 I would say it is a must when visiting Leipzig! This place works for: vegans, gluten free, lactose free and meat eaters and others.
Andrea L — Google review
Place was nice, friendly service. Food was so so but good for European palettes. A bit pricy for the quantity of food you get. Service was good lady over there was very helpful to explain all the things . Not a best place for Indian people to go and have meal over there.
Azfar N — Google review
This just great food, for everyone, vegan or meatlover, if you dine in the Restaurant or take away. We go there each time we are in Leipzig!
Bjorn K — Google review
What a wonderful excellent restaurant. We’ve had Nepalese food in Nepal years ago so we know what authentic Nepalese food should taste like. This restaurant is the best Nepalase experience in Leipzig and so far in Germany out of the ones we have tried. We had the momos, vegetarian thali and chicken thali. What was serves to us was soulful, fresh and thoughtfully put together. The owner Mr Pradeep is a super friendly and passionate host. Highly recommend Chulo with the confidence that you cannot visit just once.
Neha B — Google review
Really lovely people and good, authentic Nepalese food. The service can be a bit slow, especially on busy nights because everything is made fresh to order. The lovely staff, calm ambience and delicious cocktails make the wait perfectly tolerable, though.
Siobhan O — Google review
The food took ages to arrive, even if it was good, the time we had to wait even if there weren't a lot of clients at all, made the whole experience not worth it.

Don Kichot is a Turkish eatery in the U.S. known for its unique take on baked potatoes, or kumpirs, which are loaded with various toppings including veggies. The place is always bustling and offers decent yet affordable food such as wraps and kumpir. Customers can enjoy indoor and outdoor seating while savoring the wide variety of toppings available for their stuffed potatoes. The portions are generous, simple, and delicious, making it a cool spot to visit when in Leipzig.
Very nice place! The food very tasty and fresh, the music good. And you have different options to decide what to eat, including beverages. I recommend this place for sure!
Valentina F — Google review
Great Kumpir with options for every taste – I went for the signature "Don Quixote" and it was excellent. The other dishes behind the counter and on neighboring tables looked really appetizing too. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the prices have gone up quite a bit over the past year. Also, keep in mind – this isn’t exactly fast food. I waited around 20 minutes for just one Kumpir, so plan accordingly. Still, a tasty experience overall!
Dmitrij S — Google review
Amazingly tasty kumpir, and very fast service! I highly recommend the Sancho Pancho. One thing to keep in mind is that they do not accept card, so bring at least 20€ in cash, per person, to pay, to cover your bases.
Rhys A — Google review
really nice kumpir. as a Turkish I would say the best in leipzig. atmosphere also nice. negative parts: for turkish tea you need turkish tea glasses. this place only accept cash.. welcome to 1980..
Metin T — Google review
➕ We ordered a portion for two because it was very large, simple and delicious. The nachos came with two sauces, a big portion. The staff is friendly, so is the atmosphere:) ➖ Problems with the hood, strong smell of food in the ordering room
Monica M — Google review
The fact that it's always crowded here, speaks for itself. It's decent food, nothing fancy, just wraps and kumpir (that's basically a mashed potato in a bowl with whatever you choose, vegetables and/or meat or even cheese or yogurt) But it's all fresh, tasty and very cheap, prices vary between 5 and 7 euros.
Ludo R — Google review
It was quick and delicious. The Kumpir is fairly priced but the plates are too expensive, only 4 pieces of falafel for more than 10 euros. I recommend Orient Kumpir, best Falafel I had in a long time. Sancho Panza also good.
Pietro P — Google review
The food is amazing, good people, very friendly! Try the tuna kumpir, so tasty

Fast food restaurant
For a scrumptious snack, make your way to Beard Brothers & Sisters in Plagwitz, Leipzig. This hotspot is renowned for serving up the city's finest hot dogs, similar to those found in America but with a diverse array of options. Choose from various styles and top them off with delicious toppings such as chili, jalapenos, camembert, tomatoes, lingonberries, or tortilla chips. You won't be able to resist ordering seconds or even thirds!
Small place with several hot dogs. Great price, but you have to get a bit more and maybe share at some point. Nice service, pleasant atmosphere, great hot dogs. Cash only.
SVC — Google review
This cute hotdog place took me by surprise, I had no expectations so I was blown away. The menu is simple and to the point, a few hotdog sandwiches with different styles to choose from like Mexican, American, unique ones with a twist. There all classic toppings available as well like fried onions, relish, pickles, also avocado's and tortillas. The hotdog has a perfect size and isn't overpriced. I also liked the atmosphere and the guy who made our sandwiches made sure they were extra and was very inviting and friendly. Next time you are around the area and not sure what to have for a quick lunch or snack, give them a try
Loay — Google review
My mom doesn't make hot dogs but the hot dogs at this place felt like my mom's hypothetical hot dogs. Warm on the stomach and has you craving for more. Absolute gem.
Donkey S — Google review
Came for one, stayed for two. Can't imagine a better place to eat hotdogs in Leipzig. Shout-out to the IKEA comment dude, IKEA hotdogs don't come near this!!! I had the classic hotdog. The guy? So friendly and chill.

Great (also vegetarian!) Hot Dogs, a few options to choose from, really liked the version with cheese sauce and tortillas. You can sit inside or outside, though place is quite small but with a great interior 🌭

Had the hot dog with brie cheese, crispy onions, and berries for lunch. Delicious! One hot dog is not enough though. Sadly the Santiago could not be offered that day.

Tiny inside, no bathroom, decent prices and interesting hot dogs. Not the place to go if you’re looking for much beyond a casual eat.

CÀ PHÁO is a charming Vietnamese restaurant located in Leipzig, Germany. It offers classic Vietnamese street foods in a cozy setting with sidewalk seating. The restaurant has received positive feedback for its great food, welcoming atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Customers have praised the generous portions and flavorful dishes such as yellow coconut curry and glass noodle salad. The menu features a variety of options including meat and vegan dishes.
Our German friend recommended this place, and it did NOT disappoint. I got the yellow coconut curry, and it was so incredibly flavorful. My friend got the glass noodle salad, and it was so fresh, crisp and delicious. The service was fast, and the portions were generous. Would definitely come again. To the amazing server we stiffed: I’m so sorry, it was my husbands first day in Germany. He had heard that it wasn’t culturally appropriate to tip at a restaurant. Our German friend corrected him. You were amazing 💜you deserve a five star review.

The food was amazing. I thought the peanut sauce for the summer roll was one of the bests I had so far. I tested the food from the Japanese and Vietnamese, and both were very good 😊👍🏽 Hope if you decide to come, that you also have a pleasant experience!

Hotel Michaelis GmbH is a charming accommodation located in the Sudvorstadt area of Leipzig. The hotel offers modern and comfortable rooms, some of which were renovated in 2011. Guests can enjoy a delightful breakfast buffet on the terrace during the summer months and savor regional delicacies at the hotel's own restaurant. Situated near Clara-Zetkin Park, it provides easy access to explore the surrounding area.
Nice location and great value for money. The room is spacious and comfy. Location makes for great access to the city centre and other locations via tram and public transport. The service is friendly - no issues watsoever. The rooms on the lower floor get a bit noisy in the morning hours ~5-6am from the cars and loading happening in the street. There is no air conditioner- i imagine on a very hot summer night that would need sub ideal. Recommend at least a higher floor (not 1st)
Somaya A — Google review
The rooms are HUGE, comfy, and super clean. Staff is always polite and helpful, the food is great and the conference space is also very nice. It is close to the market, stores and restaurants. Overall I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely come back.

Great hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was pretty nice , spacious and super clean. Everyone in the hotel was very accommodating and the hotel is pet friendly which is really helpful as we traveled with our dog. Delicious breakfast was the cherry on the top- don’t miss it!
Zuzanna K — Google review
I passed by Leipzig on a car trip and just happened to book a room at Hotel Michaelis. This turned out to be a very good choice as the hotel was excellent in many aspects. Super-friendly and helpful staff. A large and clean room with a view of towers and church spires. Nice breakfast included, as well as a small bottle of wine. All this for 79 Euro, which is very competitive price/performance.
N A — Google review
The location of the hotel is very good, the rooms are big and comfortable, the breakfast is the best I've ever had in a hotel. There are two major problems though: first would be the lack of A/C in the rooms. It was terribly hot last week and I had to choose whether I won't sleep because of the temperature or because of the awful noise from the tram that goes on the nearby street. Second is the quality of the WLAN connection. They have provided the rooms with an Ethernet cable, but it's usable only for laptops and not for the phone. Anyway I would recommend the hotel, but there's certainly room for improvement.
Denitsa D — Google review
Very good hotel with quite comfortable but also very modern and functional rooms, even if they are not very big. The breakfast is varied and includes the possibility of cooking your own waffles! The hotel staff is kind. Regarding the place, it is in a quiet area, but just 10 minutes walking far from the City Hall.
Antonio M — Google review
Very good hotel in a reasonable price. Helpful and friendly staff and receptionist. Good breakfast at their restaurant. Good location. Easy access to tram and bus.

Kafe Kreme was really good. Great atmosphere. Love the internal setting. Friendly and helpful staff with excellent English.

I was very happy that I could visit and try the coffee here with my classmates before leaving Leipzig. This is the best coffee shop in Germany I think with lots of history and nice vibe. Cannot recommend enough!!!
Trọng L — Google review
Great food, don’t pay attention that it’s a tourist place, you can actually eat delicious food here, at least while their current chef is at place. My respect to that particular person— the chef - all the dishes were fresh and exquisite. Once more, I never expected that, but please keep it as long as possible!
Maria S — Google review
Amazing historic cafe to visit if you're ever in Leipzig. Great coffee choices and traditional German food. The waiters were very courteous and even let me practice my (rather bad) German. Highly recommend
Kieran G — Google review
A quaint place, beautifully renovated inside (including a museum and showrooms, with coffee tables set as in the good old days). There is in- and outdoor seating. Service can get overwhelmed by many customers – the area is as busy and touristy as it will get in Leipzig. Hence not exactly quiet, and lots of commotion outside. It's worth a visit for the historic flair, notably within. The prices are commensurate with the location. A decent place in terms of coffee and cake.
S M — Google review
A very poor experience when we visited one evening whilst in Leipzig, resulting is us quickly leaving. When entering there was no welcome or attempt by the young staff members to engage with ourselves or any of the other customers. We found a table and menus however could not order as the staff were too busy watching videos on their phones behind the counter. A massive shame and disappointing experience.

Handwerksbäckerei & Café Kleinert - Brühl is a renowned bakery and café in Leipzig, serving local sweet treats for over 65 years. Specializing in traditional German breads, Saxon cakes, and pies, the bakery's signature 'Leipziger Lerche' is a must-try. This delicious variation of the macaron tartlet features shortcrust pastry, jam, and marzipan.
Tried Leipziger lecher and Bieninstech, both taste great. Prices are reasonable. They have good variety of other cakes and bakeries. They have some seats inside and one table outside. Shop is in downtown, better to reach walking or biking. Staff are friendly and they speak English. Will try different stuff next time.

A nice bakery with traditional pastries from Leipzig
ST — Google review
I tried my first Leipziger Lerche at Handwerksbäckerei & Café Kleinert - Brühl which is a self service Café. When you eat this dessert, which looks like a small tart, the only thing you taste is almond paste - even though it has a little cherry jam in it. Since it consists of a dense almond paste, one is enough. I ordered cappucino with this dessert. My favorite part of cappicuno is the foam on top, but this coffee was not very foamy and I found it a little bitter. Apart from this, when you look inside the cafe, you see tables placed in long corridors. Don't just be fooled by this, there is also a cute little garden section at the back. The employees are also friendly. I don't know if I would choose it again because of the coffee, but I might just grab my dessert and leave.
Gamze Y — Google review
The best Lerche, very tasty and delicious. You will find it there just fresh and warm to eat at place. I topped by to have one with a coffe but I ended up packing bunch of them to take away for friends.

Located in Leipzig Gohlis, Weinlokal & Restaurant Drogerie offers a unique and sophisticated dining experience. The restaurant's ambiance is described as small and elegant, with a special atmosphere. The chef's culinary creations are praised for their complexity, with dishes featuring over 20 ingredients each. The visual presentation of the food is highlighted as beautiful. Despite its small size, the establishment is known for its excellent service and attentive staff. Guests recommend making reservations due to limited seating.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to in Germany and perhaps the whole of Europe. Very relaxing/feels at home atmosphere. Very attentive, polite and considerate staff. Phenomenal service. Excellent food. Can't think of any flaws. Will certainly return
Bashir A — Google review
Amazing, all around. Great service and atmosphere. Staff was extremely kind, though would not let us borrow their bicycle. Thanks for a great dinner.
Mark S — Google review
Totally overpriced. Trying to play in a high-end culinary league but fails to deliver. Food is well executed (eg my salmon was perfectly grilled) but the dishes are simple and not always fully coherent. The vegetarian lasagne was outright bland. Main courses are €30-40 which is a ripoff. If they were €10 cheaper, it would pass as a charming, friendly family restaurant.
Christopher K — Google review
Very sofisticated food. After 20 ingredients (per dish) I stopped counting. The chef really made an effort to produce delicious dishes. The visual effect is beautiful. There are probably no more than 20 chairs so I would make a reservation.
Adam D — Google review
The place is well located and has a nice feeling. But where I feel it is failing the promise is the value for money. We paid 52 euro for a mushroom stew... to be honest it was maybe worth 10 euro of ingredients in the plate and no magic at all. Just mushroom, white wine, cream, and some herbs.
