Tallahassee Museum is a 52-acre lakeside site offering wildlife encounters, nature trails, period exhibits, and zipline tours. Visitors can also explore the area's history at Goodwood Museum & Gardens and Mission San Luis. For outdoor enthusiasts, kayaking down The Wakulla River or enjoying treetop adventures at Tree-to-Tree Adventure are popular options. Additionally, there are indoor attractions like the Museum of Florida History and Tallahassee Automobile Museum for history buffs.
It was absolutely beautiful. I loved seeing all the buildings. It was rich with history. There were also classes for kids, a playground, zip lines for adults and children. I loved seeing the different animals, the trails and the dinosaurs made from I think car parts. We got to pet a snake as well
BoopyBunBun — Google review
It's not the kind of museum we're used to; there's a lot to see, and you can walk around and enjoy it. But I noticed that the animals need more love; the felines are very thin I don't know if it's because of its age; I think it has a lot of potential, and they could improve many things like the park, the walkways, and the environment for the animals. My family had a great afternoon. We couldn't get into the restaurant because it closed at 4, we thought it closed a little later. You can bring your snacks if you have a stroller be patient because sometimes the path is not appropriate. The dinosaur sculptures are fabulous, well worth a visit.

We've skipped this place on several visits to Tallahassee just due to time constraints but boy did it deliver when we finally made time for it. Our kids LOVED it. It's a perfect mix of history, activities, nature walks, animals and more. It's highly rated for a reason. The ropes course for kids was very cool. The adult one looks awesome but we didn't get a chance to do it this time.
Dennis F — Google review
Incredibly beautiful place to visit! This had so much more here than expected. Rich culture of the plantations with homes to walk through to get a glimpse of past living. The trees here are almost other worldly and felt like I was in a jungle or different country in some areas. Lots of animals to see and highly suggest coming with little kids for an adventure. The playground was really nice and food is available for purchase. Next time we will do the zip lining!
Gourmetgoddess — Google review
It was great! Very hot, but a nice mix of nature and history. They had a great event with local beer and local music tonight, Swamp Stomp. Will definitely be back next year!
Trace J — Google review
We went on the off chance and really didn't know what to expect. Wow. What a surprise, the animals were so visible and it had a super relaxing feel. Great to stroll through and the informative exhibits were engaging. Definitely recommend for 3plus hours. Superb value!
Debbie W — Google review
Took a trip up from PCB. New to Florida, so it was great to see some history & wildlife about the state. Clever to do both in one! We are a military family & we went on Labor Day, we got in free!
Whitney L — Google review
Did the tree to tree canopy tour. Soar through the cypress swamps, tree top to tree top like Tarzan and Jane (before me2 made it creepy). The full tree top rope and zip line course costs about $55 and takes about 7,200 seconds or 120 minutes or 2 hours for those who don’t do math. Michael our guide was the best. Plenty of speed and altitude to the zip lines and lots of cool obstacles to transverse. Concurring the course with the right people and energy is a game changer.

Museums
The Florida Historic Capitol Museum, located in the iconic old capitol building on South Monroe Street, offers a journey through Florida's political history. Visitors can explore the 1902 Governors office and former chambers of the House of Representatives, Senate, and Supreme Court. The museum features a collection of artifacts, photos, and interactive exhibits that showcase the building's significance in Florida's government.
This building is beautiful and very historic. (It's a shame they replaced the one building that represents the entire state of Florida with a giant gray concrete rectangle.) But this old Capitol building is open to the public and was converted into a very well managed and informative museum. Unfortunately, though, you can't go in the dome like most other capitols.
Noah D — Google review
Really nice museum with lots of interesting information on the history of Florida and its politics. Loved seeing the old governor’s office, senate and house chambers. Museum is free and staff is friendly.
Sharon B — Google review
I had a very nice visit recently at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum at 400 S Monroe St, in Tallahassee, FL. It's a very nice place to come visit and get a history of this former capitol. It's an easy walk around and many stops to read about it history. Well worth a visit.
Greg K — Google review
The museum offers the opportunity to learn about Floridas history. Free admission, knowledgeable staff and a huge exhibition. Note that you’ll need to read a lot, there’s no audio guide.
Vanessa P — Google review
Every time I'm in town for work, I have to explore the history of Florida. Such an interesting and educational experience. It's a Must DO ...
Michele G — Google review
It is a shock to see the outside atmosphere of Tallahassee and the outside of the old capital building as it is very rundown, but they turned it into this capital museum which is being renovated on the outside so that is a good thing because it is in desperate need of that. The new capital building next to it doesn't look any better, however, and it is a shocking thing. This is my first visit to the capital area, even though I am a resident of 15 years of Florida, which is crazy thing to say. But besides the outside, don't let that get to you because the inside of the capital museum is beautiful and is highly informative and is worth seeing at least once. Be ready to read a lot and just stare at the portraits and architecture features inside it is just amazing.
Melissa L — Google review
This is a MUST if you are in Tallahassee! The museum is clean, informative, and just big enough for a few hours of free educational fun to learn about the history of our great state and nation! I only wish I had visited sooner!
Carleen M — Google review
I was hesitant to bring the kids here, but as soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and a scavenger hunt for the kids to do. They found everything on the list and were given a prize at the end. Highly educational and fun for my 7 year old, and my 10 year old. Not your average museum! We loved it.

Mission San Luis is a fascinating re-creation of a 17th-century colonial village, offering visitors a glimpse into the intersection of Spanish and Apalachee Indian cultures. This living museum, founded by the Catholic Church in the 1600s, features costumed experts who bring to life the experiences of Spanish settlers and Native Apalachee inhabitants. Visitors can learn about church services, agricultural practices, and daily life during this historical period.
This is an excellent place to stop in Tallahassee. It has enough to do to spend the whole day, but it's also small enough to spend just an hour or two and feel like you learned something with your time. Definitely a place to bring the whole family! The young lady in the Spanish house was especially personable and fun to talk to. Unfortunately, we did not have much time as we were driving through. But as retired military, they let my daughter and I in for free. I hope to learn much more about Florida's history in places like these.

This was really neat, plenty to do for a long day but we arrived late in the day and were still able to enjoy it for a shorter time. It’s a beautiful walk and well maintained exhibits with a friendly staff.

Absolutely incredible. Loved the blacksmith area and guy. We got to do a hands on demonstration. He was friendly and knowledgeable and it was just fun in general. Just a very cool place if you love history.

I recently visited Mission San Luis at 2021 Mission Rd, in Tallahassee, FL. I spend a nice afternoon walking around the property of this Mission. There were volunteers in most of the buildings that has a large amount of knowledge of their area. It was a very good experience.

What a Beautiful place. History was surrounding us as we walked through the past, learning how the Appalachia's would have been living and taking care of everyone. Thank you for the knowledgeable workers that made our visit amazing and memorable.

We took our dog and kids here, it was really cool! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The kids had fun looking around the exhibits and learning. It is very affordable for the whole family and I love that we could bring our dog.

We loved learning about the history of our home state. The staff was friendly and helpful. We attended on homeschoolers day and enjoyed an educational "mystery" where the children searched for clues. The setting is lovely too, Spanish moss sways from the old Oaks. We enjoyed the whole experience very much.

Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park in Tallahassee is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike. The park boasts meticulously maintained gardens, scenic trails, and opportunities for swimming, fishing, and kayaking in the nearby lakeshores. For a small fee, visitors can explore the enchanting secret garden with its ivy-covered brick walls and admire the picturesque turquoise reflection pond. Nature lovers can also hike along two captivating trails that offer stunning views of Lake Hall.
Absolutely worth going. I was just passing through trying to do something at the moment and I came across this beautiful garden. The lady up front very wonderful lady at the visitation station where you begin a walk in the garden absolutely wonderful as well. I can't wait to come back.

I recently visited the Mackay Gardens State Park at 3540 Thomasville Rd, in Tallahassee, FL. I had a very nice afternoon walking around this property. It's a very nice walk walking along all the ballast bricks on the sidewalk. The person at the entrance gate told me all about them. Some beautiful views as well.

A bit of wildlife, cute house, and a few blooms. I will return in the spring to see it again. The trails were very nice to walk, but very crowded.

Had my wedding there, it was so gorgeous and beautiful! Highly recommend! My wedding was on in September 20 of this year 2025. Couldn’t have asked for a better location.
Taylor P — Google review
Glad we found this nice park on our trip to Tallahassee. Lots to do here including hikes, garden walks and some nice photo ops. Even had an encounter with a pretty large silk weaver spider. Apparently they are harmless so no need to worry. Keep moving throughout as we found the hiking trail that goes around the entire park (about 3 miles) when we were ready to leave. The Alligator warnings were concerning, but no different than the bear signs up north, so just stayed alert as we hiked. All in all, highly recommend this park. I would call the hike low on the difficulty scale. Also you probably could bike it as well as it was pretty flat. There was a small entrance fee to the park (~$4 per person).
Rohan C — Google review
the parking and map were confusing to figure out :( i spent like 20 mins trying to find parking for the trails and not for the gardens, the directions are really ambiguous on what’s a road for cars and what’s a road for walking/biking. overall there’s not really much to do here unless you pay extra to go to the gardens, but it’s nice to be in nature regardless. i saw a cool bird so it was fine

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A gorgeous, well-maintained place with stunning photo opportunities — we saved so many pictures to remember this park!

The Museum of Florida History offers a comprehensive exploration of Florida's rich heritage, spanning over 12,000 years. Visitors can delve into the state's native cultures, wildlife, and colonization history through more than 40,000 artifacts and permanent exhibits. The museum showcases evidence of past and present cultures in Florida, including the influence of Spanish, British, French, and Confederate forces on the region.
Our whole family had a wonderful time at this museum. There was so much much information and the exhibitions were top notch. The museum is large but not too large. It's probably more than what can be properly seen in a Day but you can see enough to truly enjoy the experience!
Aida — Google review
Great little museum. We went during construction so the route was a little wonky but there were some very inventive displays. Free museum but welcomes donations and is deceptively packed with items throughout Florida history. Well worth the visit for visitors of all ages. Pay close attention to the tourism display for some awesome memorabilia from tourist attractions of the Sunshine State's past.
Nick U — Google review
Given that this place is free to visit AND park in the garage next door (with token from museum), I can’t complain. The kiddos (all under 7) enjoyed doing the scavenger hunt, but probably didn’t pick up much of the history. There are lots of random things to see in here. This is a great spot to go during the heat of the day to stay cool. Drinks, even WATER, is not allowed inside, so chug before you enter. We were forced to leave our bottles at the desk and pick them up on the way out.
Jeremy G — Google review
Great way to get a historical overview of Florida! …and it’s free! (donations gladly accepted), they will even validate your parking. I went to see the state share of the 1715 treasures fleet, but there is so much more! Saw some children doing a scavenger hunt so I think they have something for all ages.
Time2Geaux — Google review
Give yourself plenty of time to tour this excellent museum. The extensive history of Florida from prehistoric times up to the present is illustrated with many life size exhibits and artifacts. This is a fantastic museum for all ages and it’s free.
Theresa H — Google review
Excellent place. You're greeted by nice, knowledgeable students. They'd answer your initial questions. Next, the museum is truly amazing. Very well organized, informative, has all aspects of Florida history. Not to be missed.
I P — Google review
It's a wonderful museum. I loved learning more about the state I know call home. I loved the village displays and all of the wonderful hidden nooks. My favorite two are the riverboat and Granny's attic. I definitely encourage people to visit!
Rebecca R — Google review
We didn't research this visit much but saw it was recommended. Both our boys (10 and 12) enjoyed the museum with different parts being hits. Even grandma's attic was a hit with some fun moments. Way more to see than my photos, a ton of history from the early native America days, through Spanish occupation, statehood and World War II. The surf display was a nice bonus. You can easily use up 2+ hours here so I'm guessing it would range from 1-3 hours depending on your speed. Definitely worth a visit. The parking is $5, but free if you get a token from the front desk. Total cost, $0!

The Knott House Museum, originally built in 1843, is a historic home turned museum located on East Park Avenue in Tallahassee. It holds significance as the temporary headquarters of the Union Army and the site where Brig. Gen. Edward McCook read the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865, marking an important day for Florida's slaves.
I took an Urban Sketching class I teach from the Tallahassee Senior Center there. We enjoyed the exterior because it was closed. But I must say that this area has some of the most beautiful architecture in Tallahassee. The turn of the century homes with gorgeous details and lovely lawns. Large oaks with moss and ferns adorn the park across the street. That block between Gadsden and Monroe at Park right at the east end of the Chain of Parks is a show stopper!

Our tour was really amazing. Tour guide pointed out details of house that were very interesting. Home is beautiful! I loved the ceilings in the main room downstairs as well as the bathtub art. Great place to go if in Tallahassee and wanting to go out and do something unique. Highly recommend.

Lovely spot, though it is small the poetry is cute. The guides are knowledgeable and good with groups.
Amber — Google review
Just a beautiful example of PRE statehood architecture of a home build by a free black carpenter as a wedding gift for a white owner. Florida was awarded statehood after this house was built and the Knott family kept the original furnishings and wall paper (in the main hall only) when they gave the entire house to the government. Picture a home as a time capsule from 1928 to 1941! The outdoor kitchen and bath from the original 1843 home has been moved inside then left alone. Mrs. Knott did a great job decorating the house and even wrote poetry for many pieces of furniture. She was very active in prohibition and sufferage.Mr. Knott was in the government accounting. FREE admission but bring a good donation. It is worth the 2 plus hour guided tour.

Overall, great potential in this area. If you are someone that loves to explore unique clothing pieces, black owned small business, or unique art pieces, this area is definitely worth exploring. I love the garden wine bar (definitely not the name), also bought a few items in the markets. Wished I was there long enough to try the Jamaican food spot as that jerked chicken smell was on point 🤤.

I love coming here to walk around and look through the shops or get food. Other Side Vintage is great for window shopping. Tallulah is great for the vibes. First Fridays is always a good time. Flamingos takes a long time to serve but the food is DELICIOUS. I love railroad square!

Omg, too much to see. This will be a destination day trip again in the future. Most shops don't open until 11 am or 12 noon. Walked and looked at all the art on the warehouses. Very pleasant place. Lots of parking.

Very nice collection of cars. All are Concours level original or restorations. The Bugatti 57 blew me away. Not many left in existence. Same with the outboard motor collection on the second floor. Was only planning to spend 2 hours here, but ended up spending nearly 5!

It was absolutely magical! I didn’t expect such a huge variety of exhibits. I’m still amazed, even a week after visiting! Be ready to admire everything… but don’t touch anything 🤣. Honestly, it feels like they have absolutely everything here!

Amazing collection of cars with very informative descriptions. Five Batmobiles I think. Many other collections also amazing doll collection, antique, brass, cash registers Etc, a really large collection of model railroad paraphernalia as well as a large installation, Remington bronzes, collectible grand pianos, as well as many other things like golf clubs, knives, etc etc etc. really worthwhile with something for everyone. My only complaint is there was a rather annoying display aggrandizing the despicable Nazi fascist Donald Trump.

My husband is a complete gear-head and I swear he could be a tour guide for this museum 😂🥰 we spent an entire day here and he was absolutely ready to go again! 😂 Our daughter loved it too. She's the one who requested to go. There is sooooo much more than automobiles too! Sports memorabilia, antiques, dolls, race boats, boat engines, taxidermy, collectibles, and so much more! It must update/ change frequently too, because our daughter went a year or two ago and there was so much more and new things everywhere that she said they added in since her last trip here. You do get a wristband, so you can leave for lunch and come back if you want to. Definitely plan a full day for this place. Maybe more if you are a gear-head or married to one 😜

I was excited but also unsure what to expect when we pulled into the parking lot—it looks like just another big building from the outside—but once inside, I was blown away. This place is packed with classic cars, from really early models (like late 1800s) to muscle cars, and even a few Batmobiles. What surprised me most, though, was all the other stuff—vintage cash registers, old typewriters, knives, pianos, even outboard motors. It’s like walking through someone’s massive, quirky collection of Americana. We spent about 1hr hour here and still didn’t see everything. If you’re even remotely interested in cars, history, or just cool old stuff, this is absolutely worth a visit. The staff was friendly and happy to answer questions, and the place was super clean and well organized. One of those hidden gems you wouldn’t expect in Tallahassee. They are dog friendly and offer military and senior citizen discounts. They do also have a small gift shop too!

Nice collection of cars with several limited production ones in the collection. There's a collection of farm equipment in the back along with a Divco milk truck and a 6 passenger short bus. Upstairs there are more cars, a small motorcycle collection, a NASCAR, mini race boats, and the Batman collection. Then it gets weird. There's outboard motors, model trains, calculators, cash registers, non playable arcade games, creepy dolls, grand pianos, tons of pocket knife displays, golf clubs, baseball memorabilia, football memorabilia, a washing machine, a telephone switchboard, and all kinds of "one man's treasure".

One of the best experience. Doning events there is really awesome. Collections of things I really never seen before no pictures. Because that will take away the experiences. I want to visit again. Since I was helping with events. Beautiful cars... But so much more. Like a lot more. Great place for events. Staff are so friendly. Comfortable place.

Goodwood Museum & Gardens is a historic site in Tallahassee, offering tours of a grand 1830s private residence set on a landscaped estate with outbuildings. The museum and gardens provide insight into the area's slavery and plantation history. Visitors can also explore other nearby attractions such as Mission San Luis, the Tallahassee Museum, and enjoy outdoor activities like kayaking down The Wakulla River or embarking on helicopter rides.
Huge, beautiful plantation with plenty of exhibitions of Old Florida. Although we didn’t go into the museums ($12/person) we enjoyed walking around and taking in the peaceful gardens with the beautiful weather. If I lived in Tallahassee, I would come by and buy the plants and herbs they were selling, they had so many varieties! Can’t wait to come by again.

Lovely place for an afternoon stroll. Come explore the grounds of this majestic estates, it’s completely free! We visited when all the azaleas, camellias, and jasmine were in bloom so it was entirely lovely! We didn’t get to see the inside of the house since we got there just after the last scheduled tour but from the photos it looks like it would be worth a visit as well. A lot of history in this place from around 100 -115 years ago that is being restored. Unfortunately, some of the gardens look quite neglected and the greenhouses fallen down and unrestored. Other than that, lovely place!

Such a peaceful and historic spot in...! The grounds are beautiful with big oak trees and gardens that feel a little wild but charming. Walking around is free, and if you have time, the house tour is worth it the guides are knowledgeable and bring the history to life. They also host weddings, events, and even community gatherings here, so it has a nice local feel. Parking is easy, and there’s even a little coffee spot on-site which makes it a perfect place to spend an afternoon.

This is a former plantation marketed as a wedding and party venue. It’s absolutely inappropriate and downright ghoulish. Historical trauma shouldn’t be repackaged for leisure or profit, no matter how carefully the optics and historical engagement giveback are showcased. To host soirées atop grounds steeped in human bondage is a prime example of bourgeois leisure and genteel revisionism at the expense of those still suffering from the Capital city’s commitment to antebellum attitudes.

Visited the Goodwood Museum and Gardens while I was in Tallahassee. Took the tour and loved it. The gentleman who was the tour guide was fantastic... best tour guide I've ever had for a tour like this. I believe he is a member of the restoration committee and had done a great deal of research on the home and its previous owners. Incredibly interesting.

We attended an Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy event at Goodwood Museum, and it was beyond my imagination. Absolutely outstanding performance by everyone, exuding talent and drawing me in to each reading completely. 🖤 The cocktails were divine and the price for a night out with my partner was completely reasonable. Can’t say enough! 10/10 would go again!

I had a baby shower here last weekend and I was very pleased with the cottage and the staff. I cannot recall her name but the staff person was amazing. She assisted us with the decorations when she saw we needed help. And she also helped with the clean up. She was great! I would recommend this place to everyone who would like a nice, historic, clean venue to host a celebration.

Definitely get the tour of the main house. Otherwise it's just a small park. The tour is fantastic! It was about 75 minutes. But you can't take photos inside the main house. Which is very unfortunate. The other buildings are okay. They have been repurposed for offices or storage. So there's nothing to see inside. One of the buildings is being turned into a restaurant. Which I'm looking forward to.

They campus is absolutely gorgeous and we had a great tour here. The area is really nice as well. I can't complain about the weather either since I was born and raised in Florida and it beats the freezing cold. They have good academics and are well recognized, at least in my perspective and I can't see a valid reason I personally wouldn't want to go here - meaning I think it would be a great school to attend. It's also in the states capital, which for my major is a huge perk.

Great staff and vibe!! Even children are welcome here. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the live music and catfish was awesome. I also loved the bon fire out front. The cover charge was $20 on the Sat night we went, but the musicians played an encore til a little after 10pm. Such fun!

Lake Ella, nestled within Fred Drake Park in Tallahassee, serves both aesthetic and practical purposes. This 12-acre lake not only adds charm to the surroundings but also functions as a flood protection system for the area. A popular spot since the late 19th century, it attracts locals and visitors alike. The nearby Black Dog Cafe has been a favorite haunt for coffee enthusiasts since 1997, offering a scenic patio overlooking the lake.
Lake Ella is absolutely gorgeous. Very cute walking path and lots of seating options. Picnic tables are located around the whole lake. There’s a ton of adorable shops. There’s also a gazebo and I love gazebos.

Lake Ella is a picturesque park that’s a must-see gem during your stay in Tallahassee. It’s situated in Lake County, Florida, and offers an array of fine dining and accommodations. The park is the ideal choice for a tranquil stroll or exploring the cottage stores surrounding the lake. The park is an ideal spot to unwind away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The park boasts picnic shelters, a paved walking trail that encircles the lake, and a site for community activities. You’ll also catch a glimpse of some of the local wildlife as you stroll around the lake, especially the variety of ducks. If you’re going to visit, you can walk or skate around the lake. Lake Ella is also host to a variety of local events including regular food truck events, holiday celebrations, concerts, and seasonal markets.

This is a nice place to enjoy nature, go for a little walk around the lake, interact with the ducks and geese, or have a picnic. The lake is adjacent to a few small shops which is nice as well. There are restrooms, but they aren't something that I would necessarily recommend using unless you absolutely need to. There are a few picnic tables scattered about the park, but I think there could be a few more. It can be tough to snag one if you're there at peak times.

Although the planetarium was closed, I had one of the best times I've had in a long time. And I was by myself. I've always walked by here without looking in. I've driven by, and just wondered also. There was a person this day who provoke me to go in. She said she was into science and that sparked my scientific background itch. I'm not the biggest astronomer, but somehow I realized i needed to see inside. They have a nice little snack shop and the smell of popcorn was driving me insane. Yummy. However, I walked around instead of eating and saw a store store where you can buy many different things related to space..Yes, there was much more than that. They had small models of the moon landing and also astronaut suits and much more The planetarium itself was being renovated or worked on. But I snuck a peek inside and it looked amazing.. I know, because I've been to two othe planetariums in my lifetime. It's very clean there ( bathrooms included). In that respect I would give them a 9 and 1/2 out of 10. I would recommend this place to anyone. I will go back and probably go again with someone that really enjoys science or having fun. Check this place out/ Call ahead just to make sure the planetarium is open and book a trip there. See you in space my friends. See you on the Oort belt. To infinity and beyond. LOL

I was very disappointed today. We saw online that an age appropriate movie for our grandson was playing at 11am in the planetarium. When we arrived we were told that the movie was not playing today because a talk was being held in the theater. We were told we should call before going to make sure the movie was still playing. Then why post a schedule if I have to call each time I want to go to the theater. It was difficult trying to explain to a three year old, he couldn't see the movie. We really enjoy the LC and pick it over other theaters. Today was very disappointing.

The Riley House Museum is a cultural institution dedicated to the history and heritage of African Americans in Tallahassee. It was built by John Riley, an educator and civic leader of the time, and is one of the few buildings from that period still standing in Smokey Hollow. The museum provides visitors with an overview of life for black Tallahasseeans during the early 20th century, as well as exhibits on JOHN GILMORE RILEY himself.
Loved going on the bus tour. Loved the historical facts. Can't wait for the house to be restored for touring. Interesting architecture design for that time period. The hosting staff were great.

I visited the John G. Riley Center & Museum for a project I’m doing for my public history course, and I’m so glad I did. Admission is $5 for adults and includes a guided tour of the John G. Riley house, as well as the Smokey Hollow Commemorative Park. Our guide, Hope was wonderful. We explored a ‘pre-exhibit’ in the welcome centre called ‘Lest We Forget: The Passage from Africa to Slavery in America’ that gave a comprehensive context for how and why Black people ended up in the Tallahassee area, and included elements of West African cultures and stories. We then toured the main house and the newly finished Smokey Hollow Commemorative Park, which was very very lovely. The house is about to undergo a comprehensive renovation and I look forward to returning once that is finished. I think it will make the tour even better. Regardless, this house, John G. Riley, and the Smokey Hollow neighbourhood are important parts of Tallahassee’s history. I highly recommend paying a visit.

Bradley's Country Store is a beloved Tallahassee institution known for its homemade bulk sausage, sausage links, grits, preserves, and other Southern delicacies. This historic landmark has been serving the community since 1927 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many local restaurants feature Bradley's sausage, but visiting the store allows you to support them directly. The store offers local favorites like mayhaw jelly and wildflower honey for sale.
Fun, entertaining, store with great variety of meats, sandwiches, & souvenirs. Top notch classic Country Store/ General Store. Extremely rare these days!
Jim L — Google review
Located 30 minutes (16 miles) Northeast of downtown Tallahassee is Bradley’s Country Store. Authentic and nostalgic, and home of the best locally-made sausages with a distinctive flavor and texture. Available by the pound as fresh or smoked, hot or mild, or ready-to-eat sausage dogs served in a bun in 6-inch or footlong sizes. Pork chop sandwiches are also available. Additional fresh by-the-pound meat options are pork loin, pork chops, bacon, and other pork parts. Jellies, jams, grits, pancake mixes, milk, farm-fresh eggs (sometimes), wide variety of sodas (root beer, orange, cherry, peach, cream soda), and a long wall of sweets and candies. Get you a sausage dog and a root beer for lunch and eat it on the porch in a rocking chair (with built-in drink holder). Locals enjoy the sausages grilled at the tailgate party in the stadium parking lot before the Florida State University Seminoles football games.

Best smoked sausage in all of Florida! Great little country store that dates back 97 years (you know they must be doing it right)! Been frequenting Bradleys since the early 1970s as a young child with my family! It was always a nice trip way out in the country to get a Nehi, old fashioned candy, a sausage dog and some country rind on bacon for a Sunday morning breakfast. In a world where everything changes, Bradleys has never changed and that’s comforting. I grew up in Tallahassee from Kate Sullivan, to Cobb, to Lincoln (go Trojans) to TCC, then FSU. Now I live on the Atlantic coast and I don’t like coming home because nothing is familiar. Bradleys is comforting because it is as I remember visually and taste wise. Of course I had to get some preserves and coarse ground grits! Very lucky to have such an amazing country store with old Florida charm. A trip to Capital City is not complete without a trip to Bradleys!! Shop Local, Eat Local! Florida Man Approved!

Store definitely gives you that back in day vibe. Has the old country like smell to it. I've always heard about their homemade sausage they have here. We stopped here for some of their sausage. They offer the sausage cooked or raw. I was pretty anxious to try one of these homemade sausages however I wasn't necessarily a fan. It kinda tasted like they had been boiled and all the flavor was boiled out.🙃 🙂 We did buy some to take home and will probably try them in the air fryer or on the grill. The sausage comes in mild medium and hot. They also have other smoke meats that you can purchase as well.. Along with a slew of other items.

Nestled in a rural area just a short drive during the park hammock away from Tallahassee sits the coolest historic store you will find in the entire state of Florida. Talk about a walk back into an earlier time, oh how I would have loved to have been alive during this era. Bradley’s will bring that nostalgic feeling into your soul as you enter the store and explore all the goodies. They have fresh meats, candies, canned products, Soaps and so much more. Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, is steeped in rich history and heritage. The city boasts over seven museums that offer a glimpse into its diverse cultural tapestry. Among these is The Grove Museum, a meticulously preserved antebellum residence constructed around 1840 by enslaved artisans. This architectural gem showcases exemplary Greek Revival design and holds a place on the National Registry of Historic Places.
I was there for the hour long tour for Black History Month. The Grove is a gem tucked away just off of N Monroe Street easy to access, a really cool old house, LOTS of history and grounds that are open for humans and well behave dogs almost all the time. Recommend!

Loved my visit to the Grove Museum today. The guides were so helpful and welcoming. It was the perfect short escape from my routine, peaceful, full of history, and easy to imagine life in those times. A hidden gem in Tallahassee!

I really like this place. The museum is small but very well done with interactive exhibits. You will come away knowing a lot about the colorful past residents. The staff was friendly and helpful. You can also stroll around the peaceful grounds followed by the most Gray catbirds I've ever seen in one place. There are also Black walnut trees and cemetery is worth a look. Life was hard for kids back then. And it is free.

Free to visit. Interesting small tour covering two governors that were locals. Naturally being a family historian, I loved that they had little family graves not far from the house. You could also peek a view of the current governors mansion through the trees. Staff were very knowledgeable. Check the days that it’s open before you go.

A must experience while in town, admission is free and there's a guided tour where you can access the basement or you can roam around yourself. Very great history retold by the tour guide who was very informative and attentive to any questions. Very well kept and beautifully preserved inside.

Absolutely stunning, another jewel 💎 of Florida history. The garden features tons of Magnolia Trees and lots of beautiful flowers. A must see if visiting Tallahassee. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I love that they've included a kids reading time as well. Enjoy my photos!!!

Free to visit. A little gem in the city full of history. It’s quiet and scenic. Highly recommended to visit and spend time here.

Morgan gave an excellent tour. I never knew the Grove was there, I have passed it for over 40 years. I knew Governer Collins years ago and never was aware of his accomplishments. I recommend this tour to everyone. It is a free tour. Of course I donated, that is totally voluntary and no pressure.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Spring House is a house in Tallahassee, Florida, designed by the architect in 1954. The location and views are considered to be some of the most beautiful in Tallahassee. The house was once owned by Clifton and George Lewis, two civil rights activists who were central to the movement.
My girlfriend and I have seen 100+ FLW houses (some of them only by driving by of course). We’ve toured most of the famous ones too. I can tell you, if you’re a FLW fan, this is the BEST tour you’ll ever do. Byrd is an adorable person. She makes you feel at home. She tells you interesting stories about her family and the house (FLW designed Spring House for her parents and she has lived there since she was a kid). This is the only FLW residential project in Florida and one of the only two pod-shaped houses he ever designed. The house is beautiful and, in contrast to other FLW designed house you can tour, here you can actually feel that homey charm. This tour is a total privilege, I can’t stress that enough. Do yourself a favor and go.

VERY interesting house and tour! Both husband and I drove away super pleased with the experience. If you have any interest in architecture, go see this fascinating home! Make contact for tour through the website, following the instructions which seemed confusing but were actually easy. Plan ahead.

I recently visited the Spring House at 3117 Okeeheepkee Rd, in Tallahassee, FL. I had been awaiting this visit for weeks so my time finally came. I had a great experience with the tour I took with docent, Victoria. It was great to see and tour one of Frank's houses that he designed. I hope the best for it as it has co.s up for sale and needs some work to get it back to what it once was
Greg K — Google review
This is the only private home designed and built by Wright in Florida. I can think of no one who could have given a better tour than Byrd Lewis Marshburn who lived there with her parents and three brothers. Well worth the time and money!! (Private and small group tours are available; we did the private tour-just delightful!!)
Betty S — Google review
A fascinating structure that needs our love and support: Schedule a tour if you can! As others have mentioned, Victoria is an excellent docent: Her knowlege of - and respect for - the house and its history are most impressive!

An opportunity to experience a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Florida, tallahassee! If you like Frank's work you love this home. It accomplishments his vision on connecting the home with the natural landscape.
Hector C — Google review
I am sure the house was great at one time but the current condition is so very very sad. The modern plywood and non original materials are very obtrusive. So much rotted wood. I know they are trying but this house needs serious renovation.
James F — Google review
This was such a unique and wonderful experience! I have toured a number of Wright homes and buildings but our time at the Spring House was unparalleled. It is incredibly special to be able to experience a Frank Lloyd Wright home through the eyes of one of the people for whom it was built. Byrd, one of the Lewis children, gave us a fascinating tour of this FLW gem that was generously peppered with personal stories of her childhood there. She was incredibly hospitable and kind and we were greatly moved by the work that the family is doing to preserve the house. This is such a worthy project and one that all lovers of important architecture should support. This tour is a don't-miss!

The Meek-Eaton Black Archives Research Center and Museum, located at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, is a remarkable destination that celebrates African American culture and history. Housed in a historic Carnegie Library built in 1908, this two-story structure not only showcases stunning architecture but also serves as an invaluable resource for understanding the rich tapestry of black life, achievements, and struggles. Despite some challenges with parking on campus, visitors will find the experience enlightening and worthwhile.
I wanted to visit this museum to explore and learn more about black history I visited the day after Juneteenth with my family I enjoyed the exhibits and the amazing A/C . I learned a lot about the history of famu but I also enjoyed the hair exhibit and what it means . Where to park was a little confusing but we just ended up parking farther out in the general parking lot I’m not sure if the parking that was in front of the building was for visitors or not . Other than that I learned a lot and had a great time .

A fabulous resource not known even to many native Tallahasseeans. This is a great resource in our area related to black life, achievements, struggles, and experiences. Well worth a visit by anyone, and certainly of use to any educator in the area. It is difficult to access because of lack of public parking, but that is often true of any resource on a university campus. But it's also free! Hard to complain.

Nestled near the Historic Capitol Museum, the Union Bank Museum stands as a testament to Florida's rich history, being the oldest surviving bank building in the state since its completion in 1841. Originally established as a planter's bank during the antebellum era, it played a significant role in financing plantation owners. After Emancipation, it transitioned to house the National Freedman's Savings and Trust Company.
Such an interesting place. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff! Free admission and parking directly in front of the building. We even got some buttons! Highly recommended!

Visiting from out of town & a google search lead me to this place. It was exceptional. Great vibes from the staff and the atmosphere alike. Food was amazing. Highly recommend Jade, she was great. If I come back into town I will def come back. You can’t beat farm to table, it hits different than a chain restaurant. Check this place out!

Great farm to table restaurant. No bar seating for solo diners and there was a wait to be seated. But, you can walk the gardens which were very nice. Loud but energetic atmosphere, great menu. My only negative was that my White Russian was made with crushed ice and didn’t have the creamy texture I was looking to end the meal with. I’m sure they’d have fixed it if I said something. Would definitely return.

This is a must stop in Tallahassee!!! The beautiful gardens produce outstanding food! We had the Cobb salad , Brie Caprese sandwich on sourdough. preblack and blue burger and the catfish bites. The catfish bites were served in amazing grits with hot fresh jalapeños on top! Totally awesome. The Cobb salad had fresh boiled eggs from the henhouse and wonderful greens. The burger looked and tasted sooo good. Come back for the drink specials.

We had an amazing experience at Backwoods Crossing! From start to finish, everything was spot-on. We started with the charcuterie board, and it was absolutely awesome — a perfect mix of textures and flavors, beautifully presented, and big enough to share. You could really tell they put thought into every piece on that board. The Old Fashioneds were top-notch — smooth, well-balanced, and made just right. You can tell the bartenders take pride in their craft, which made the drinks feel a little extra special. For the main course, I went with the Hen House dish, and it was hands-down one of the best things I’ve had in a while. The flavors came together perfectly, the chicken was cooked just right, and the whole dish had this comforting, hearty vibe that made it feel like an elevated version of classic southern cooking. We finished with the cheesecake, and honestly, it was 🔥 — rich, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal. The whole atmosphere at Backwoods Crossing just hits right — relaxed but still classy, great service, and you can tell everyone on staff really cares about what they’re serving. Definitely one of those places where you leave already planning your next visit.

Fantastic restaurant! Now included in my Tallahassee top 3. I started with the Rowdy Shrimp app. Think Bang Bang with more of a Buffalo spin. Great crunch, just the right amount of heat in the sauce and complimented with blue cheese crumbles. Speaking of blue cheese, I had the house salad with their homemade blue cheese dressing that was delicious! Salad was a large portion of mixed greens with tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and shaved parmesan. I followed that with the black and blue boar burger, a blackened 70/30 mix of pork and ground beef with blue cheese crumbles (done with blue cheese for a few days). I finished with the apple crumble. There were no issues with parking and the seating was comfortable. All the food was really good with the boar burger as the standout. If I had any critique, maybe the apples were a little too crunchy in the desert; but it was still good. Finally, the service was outstanding. I look forward to returning so I can try some of the dinner selections. Oh, and there's a very friendly cool cat (Hades) hanging out in the garden.

I was with a large party and our server did a great job keeping up with all of our food and drink orders. It took a little while for everything to come out, but when it did it was amazing. We make a reservation for 8:15 for our Son graduation Was very disappointed We seat at 8:45 We have to call the attendance several time to take our order . They bring the drinks and forget one of them Was 9:15 and have to make a complain because we ordered and wait all that time for our food Really it’s a wonderful restaurant with a tremendous cooker Five star for crab cake the best but they need a better service staff very very bad ⭐️ for the service hope to come back and give them another shot improve the service please ! You have a tremendous chef that save this restaurant reputation but if the service keep back you going to lose a lot of customers… Be smart Give the costumer a free entry like bread or chip to entertain the long wait ! A table next to me with 8 people including 3 kids have yo give the babies banana and cereal to keep the busy one of the kids what eating the crayons yo give then to color We left and the order for them was not ready very sad ! Please do better the costumer deserve it Out table was very dark have to use my phone the lamp was not working The menu very informal and very limited to celebrate very special day kids graduation Highly recommend my plate crab cake ❤️

Walked over to The Edison during one of the concert series for Cascades and had a moderate experience. The service wasn’t top notch but it wasn’t horrible. The buffalo chicken dip appetizer was good and my grilled pork chop was good. It wasn’t as juicy as I would’ve desired, slightly on the dry side and the putney wasn’t very thick to coat it. All in all, it wasn’t the worst meal and atmosphere but very in the middle which I don’t prefer for the higher price point. The best part was the view of Cascades and the city line as well as the live music from the amphitheater!
Metrius H — Google review
I hated to leave this and our waitress was very sweet but we waited a long time for drinks and had to get our own extra silverware, asked for lemons for our waters to 3 different people and waited a long time on the bill. I tipped her well regardless because she was trying. The food was not good at all. And we are not foodies by any means or a hard to please crowd. We ordered 3 appetizers. The crab cakes tasted like cat food. The charcuterie board was very sad with nuts from a jar, simple small amounts of cheese and meat- no fruit or olives and more dips and honey than anything. The tuna tar tar was ruined by being put on guacamole. Not avocado slices but very mushy guac. 3 of us got burgers and as a $22 burger especially it was not good at all, dry, plain, bacon not good. No one finished it and we were hungry. The pasta was lackluster and the chicken from the Tuscan chicken pasta was soft gooey and fatty and my adult daughter did not eat any of it. My adult son has the ceasar salad and he said it tasted like dirty sink water (like the iced waters- that's why we wanted the lemons) I'm so sorry but the menu needs a total rehaul and the kitchen staff may need some training. I own several businesses so I hate doing this but otherwise how would you make any changes? I understand this is a corporate restaurant so maybe they could help this franchise. The location was the main draw and we enjoyed the symphony from our table... Location is everything but for repeat business it also has to be good food especially for a $500 bill.

I recently visited the Florida State Capitol at 400 S Monroe St, in Tallahassee, FL. Upon entering, you are greeted not only by security but a beautiful area that has several monuments to the state. I took an elevator to the top floor that offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Tallahassee area. Well worth a visit.

Historical and political developments of The Florida State are displayed on two floors of the building. The receptionist across the counter is very friendly and she explained about the building in brief and asked us to revert back if any assistance is needed. A small floor map also made available to the tourists near the reception. An introductory video of 8 minutes duration was played on a big TV. The Senate house, Members house and Supreme court are portrayed for visitors. Selfie spot was provided. Free entry for all. No ticket. For parking, need to use the public parking provided in 5 levels. The parking fee is $1 for the first two hours.

I think we're supposed to write reviews on the Florida State Capitol building here not the Government and/or officers. Well, this new building is nice, well maintained, has many interesting, very informative displays. We'd see important offices (from outside). I think the best visitors' attraction is the 22th floor lookout. The adventure begins with the elevators. I must say this building has a very clever elevator design. Once you figure out how it works you'd go wherever you want. The nice, professional security guards are very helpful. Anyway, the view is great from the top. Don't miss it.

The atmosphere was great for my first time against UM not the outcome I wanted but the food was great. I got a doak dog which was $10 after tax not too bad, got an alcoholic beverage frozen strawberry for $16 after tax not too bad was big in size nice mixture. And the pull pork combo with Mac and cheese and a large sweet tea for $25 now that one was iffy only because it was a small portion the burger was size of a cheeseburger from McDonald's and the Mac and cheese cup was a small as well even though it were small it was excellent in taste. I'd highly recommend and will go back to try other things. Would be 5/5 but that second meal option was too small for such a big price

Oyster bar restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Shell Oyster Bar is a classic, no-frills spot in Tallahassee that's perfect for oyster enthusiasts. This BYOB joint offers fresh and affordable Apalachicola oysters, along with other Gulf seafood options. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere with limited indoor seating and also provides takeout options. Keep in mind that it's a cash-only establishment located in an old Texaco gas station.
This is a wonderful local restaurant! I just recently found it. The crab claws and the grouper are my favorite. The shrimp is good as well. My husband loves the raw oysters. The homemade cocktail sauce is amazing! It has such good flavor! The food has always been hot and fresh! The service has always been great!
Amy F — Google review
Shell Oyster Bar is hands down one of the best spots in town! My son and I split a dozen garlic-nuked oysters (amazing!) and both had the Shrimp Dinner Plate—everything was fresh and full of flavor, and you have to try their homemade cocktail sauce (perfect mix of horseradish and hotsauce). The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, and the service was excellent. Everyone there was super nice. If you're looking for a classic Tallahassee Oyster Bar or just want the best seafood in Tallahassee, this is the place to go!
Joe M — Google review
Food was excellent (fried shrimp and crab cakes, coleslaw slaw, cheese grits) as was the service. Im giving 5☆ for the atmosphere because Shells is a local mainstay and hasn't changed at all since I can remember. Food also came out super fast. Highly recommend but fair warning, parking kinda is terrible once the lot is full.
Gordon D — Google review
Extremely Disappointing Visit to Shells Oyster Bar I visited Shells Oyster Bar with a friend, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered the catfish lunch, and my friend got the full platter. She didn’t receive any hush puppies with her meal, so we brought it to the staff’s attention, and they brought her just two. Meanwhile, the hush puppies I received were hard as a rock. I bit into one, immediately spit it out, and let our server know. Instead of offering to remake them, they suggested microwaving them—something I found completely unacceptable, especially in a seafood restaurant. Who microwaves hush puppies and serves them back to a customer? That alone was enough to make me lose my appetite. Beyond the food, the service was unsettling. When I asked for a drink refill, the server walked over toward me, then turned around and assisted a white male customer first, handing him ketchup while completely ignoring my request. I don’t want to immediately call it racism, but the difference in treatment between Black and white customers was hard to ignore. The energy in the restaurant felt off, and I didn’t feel welcomed or valued. I originally thought Shells was a solid, local family-owned spot, and I was excited to try it. I don’t mind supporting white-owned businesses—but I expect fair treatment and decent food. Sadly, neither were provided. I won’t be back and cannot recommend Shells Oyster Bar to anyone who values good food and respectful service.

My family and I came here a few weeks ago while we were in town. My sister wanted some oysters, and I had read some decent reviews. It's a small space, but we were seated pretty quickly. Please know that they only take cash. My sister, niece, and nephew all ordered some oysters (nuked). The girls also ordered a side salad with their meals. Between our table, we had a good mix of seafood. The wait staff was friendly, but what I didn't particularly like is that they only gave the girls 1 oz of salad dressing. They asked for another side of dressing. The waitress seemed to be slightly bothered that they asked for more. She informed us that that's a .50 charge for extra. At this point, we were like okay (what were we supposed to do/ say). I'd advise you if you're gonna order a salad and don't like it dry, to be prepared to pay extra or bring your own salad dressing. The fried crab claws were good but REALLY tiny. The size surprised me. I don't think I've ever seen claws that small. My niece ordered the steamed shrimp, but they were cold. We asked if she could get some more, the waitress told us they didn't replace the shrimp, and if she warmed them in the microwave, they'd overcook. That's really unfortunate, especially since they were served cold. After looking at the plastic bowl that the shrimp were served in, it appeared that they had already warmed them over before serving them to us in the first place. I wouldn't advise ordering the steamed shrimp. It's one of the easiest and fastest ways to prepare shrimp, and they seem to not know how to do it properly. So, we had to pay for my niece to get some fried shrimp. The shrimp were fried good, as well as the fries. My fish was really salty, but, at this point, I was OVER IT and was ready to go. If there is some place other than this restaurant that you can go for seafood; then I'd suggest going there first. If it's oysters you crave, then perhaps, this is the place. I'm pretty sure this was my first and last visit.

Heading to Mt. Dora, FL. My husband decided he wanted oysters for lunch... I picked well, oysters couldn't have been fresher! The onion rings were homemade and monstrous and the grouper sandwich was delicious.. I had a hard time putting it together for a sandwich, but I managed! We also hadan the bowl of crab claws, 12 bires but good. The place is definitely not fancy.... but everyone is friendly and the prices are great. Order a dozen oysters and they'll shuck them right in front of you! Don't forget to bring CASH!!!

Shell closes at 330pm, and has for over 15 years, so heads up! They always have great fresh oysters, panacea farm raised. The grouper sandwich was very good, but mine was just a handful of actual nuggets, not the big filet I've been served in the past. Servers are friendly. If you go, get there by 325p to get served! Enjoy!

Shopping
Governor’s Square is a two-level mall in Tallahassee, offering a wide range of familiar chain retailers, department stores, and over 100 dining options. Since 1979, it has been the city's main shopping destination and hosts various entertaining events throughout the year. The mall provides a clean and secure environment with polite staff. Visitors can enjoy global cuisine at the food court and find everything from apparel to accessories for their shopping needs.
Went to the Victoria's secret and got to shop with 3 amazing ladies! Angie, Alicia, and Angela are absolutely PHENOMENAL from the time I entered to the time I left, I was laughing, shopping and having the time of my life!! Also. WHAT A SALE!! It was my mom's first time coming into the store to shop and she had the best experience! Thank you ladies for making this day special! Keep being you!!

Very spacious. The entire place looks neat. There are plenty of stores to choose from. The food court should be full of places to eat now that a new restaurant is moving into the vacancy there. Though, there are more vacancies that should be filled in my opinion. The lower level of the former Sears wing is somewhat bare. Two out of the four anchors are empty. The parking lot looks pretty bad.
Woodf — Google review
The place is not bad but definitely not service animal friendly. Saw two poor elderly men with their service animal getting chewed out by a security guard because someone complained that there was a dog in the mall and the animal "Couldn't be contained." The dog was clearly a service animal and appeared to be well trained judging by how obedient it was. Even walked by with food and not once did it react. Definitely an interesting encounter but shame on that security guard for berating two elderly men over a service animal.

This is a great mall, shame folks don't really go to malls anymore, least not like we did back in the 70's. Didn't have time to walk around more, but some cool shops, cool window displays, employees I saw were attentive... I'll be back!

Great to see a mall still up and running. I loved showing my boys, how we used to shop at their age. Keep the mall alive! Great work.

Parking for DoorDash Uber eats GrubHub, etc. is horrible. There is a so-called designated area for people that’s doing deliveries/pick ups and it’s all filled up with customers. It already sucks that it takes a great deal of your time to walk through the mall just to make three or four dollars but we have to park nearly in the middle of the parking lot and walk-through for an extra 3 to 4 minutes is not fair. You guys should put at least a 15 Minute timer in a designated area for pick ups. I’ve seen kids and elderly people parking in those spots, but if we park in the handicap or the security spots, we will get a ticket or towed.
Aaron B — Google review
Escalators on each end of the mall were closed making it more difficult to get around to where we wanted. There is a play area for smaller children, under age of 4. Very clean and super friendly staff in every store.
Chastity G — Google review
There are about 10-11 shoe stores in this mall, if you count the ones inside Macy’s and JC Penny. So, yes, if buying shoes is your thing, then look no further. This is your shopping mall. There are some good eating options here too. Not a bad place to spend a lazy weekend afternoon.

Lovely place for a governor mansion. I like to know who the insurance carrier. Because I cannot get the state insurance to cover my home because I cannot pass the four point inspection. So what's the sense of Governor DeSantis saying that every home that's owned by a Floridian will be insured. This is a catch-22 a bologna and cheese sandwich. Other insurance company will not insured me because because can't pass a 4-point inspection and again I'm going to the third time hurricane without insurance and with four to six pine trees next door neighbor over 80 ft God praying that they won't snap and fall into my house. Church
The Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More is a Catholic church in which visitors appreciate the music and traditional service provided. Particularly popular is the Sunday evening mass, tailored for the college crowd but still maintaining authenticity. The contemporary music adds a modern touch without going overboard. The church itself has an attractive, old-fashioned design with cathedral-style architecture and unique stained glass windows. Besides its aesthetic appeal, this parish fosters a friendly atmosphere and strong community spirit.
I loved the beauty of the church, the priest said a beautiful mass, afterwards they had donuts in the hall
Donna R — Google review
I called this place in need of some holy water. The young man that answered the phone was very pleasant and tried to assist me. I was told I could get the holy water and I asked could I get 3 bottles because I was unsure how big the bottles were. A woman then proceeds to tell him to ask me what I needed with it. She then took the phone from him and asked me herself. She asked could I not get it from my church. I’m not Catholic. She said the priest would need to know what I needed it for. I told her for spiritual purposes! She said she would let the priest know so she could see if he was “ok” with me coming to get some. I’m not aware of anything negative that you can do with holy water. It wasn’t her business what I needed it for. Obviously the only use I know of is for anointing and cleansing so what other answer was she expecting?! I was told the priest was in a meeting and would call me back. Well it’s been about 4 hours, & oh yeah, they won’t answer the phone now. Such a devil! Nothing God like about whoever she is! I found two other churches that had absolutely NO problem letting me get holy water. So sad! Good Shepherd allowed me to come in with my own container and get holy water with no problem. When I first stopped by, a funeral was starting so there was no holy water out, but a very nice man told me to get my own container and try back. I did and someone was there and showed me where it was. This church needs people in the sanctuary like the ones that helped me at Good Shepherd & the other church I found. Whoever she is needs to be ashamed!

I have gone to church here a couple of times while visiting my daughter at FSU. I like the music they do and the nice and traditional service that they provide. We normally go to the Sunday evening mass that is geared more toward the college crowd but even with that they keep it real and don't try to jazz it up too much. The music is contemporary but not out of control. The service is what you would expect at a Catholic church. The church architecture is nice as well. Old looking with traditional cathedral styling and somewhat unique strained glass window method for many of the windows.
Trevor R — Google review
A real strength of character in a parish here. For non-Catholics, a diocese is like a Catholic county, and a cathedral is the capitol building of that county, with the bishop as mayor (continuing with archbishop as governor of a larger state like area). Anyway, our diocese covers Pensacola-Tallahassee, so similarly we have a split capitol system, with Co-Cathedrals in each. As such this place is beautiful, the most classic looking interior of the churches in Tallahassee. It's an important place in terms of governance, but it also has a major function in ministering to college kids at FSU across the street. So it has this interesting blend of importance to the state *and* local community interests. Its pastoral efforts reach college students and adults and their small children alike. Most importantly, the priests and seminarians there all have great positive attitudes, welcome and worldly personalities open to literally anyone, and they seem genuinely enthusiastic about their faith. My only gripe is confessions generally run long and they only have one priest confessing at a time, get there early.

This is the best museum I've been to in a long time. My friend didn't really want to go and he's a artist. He wanted to sit in the library. I convinced him to go, he was very into the exhibit. So was the highest the place is much bigger than they used up for this exhibit. The great place to take someone on a date. Also, to take your family when there's nothing to do or just want to get some culture and learn. I would use this place as a meditation and focusing area as it is very quiet. The two volunteers were great. I would come back here again and again. I can't wait for a new exhibit. However, I may go back to this one as it is so informative and one can't soak it all in one day. Great place for children, couples, outings and vacationers. Kudos FSU!!

Absolutely loved visiting The Fine Arts Museum with the family this past weekend! I wasn't sure how my son (19, autistic) would do with it, but he loved it!! We were all touched and moved almost to tears, some of us in tears, at the Women of War exhibit on the War in Ukraine. My son really wanted the book that accompanied the Women of War exhibit but it wasn't on sale. The front desk support was super helpful and let us know where we could possibly find it for purchase, since the museum is part of the University, and is a non-profit, therefore no gift shop. In all it was a great trip out and we can't wait to see what exhibit they put in next!! Shout out to Jessica Comas for encouraging me to look around the day prior while waiting on a work meeting to start! You're awesome!!

Ok I was visiting a friend in Tallahassee on 02/03/2019. Google maps showed MOFA was closed on Sundays. I mailed the phone number pressed 1 as instructed and it stated Saturday & Sunday hours 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. We drove to the location and it's closed. Really?? A University where I assume University educated individuals work and they can't update the phone system or Google Maps. Sad.

Free admission, free parking in the garage next door. Nothing here that was interesting or creative. The info cards were poorly written, very wordy, not semantically dense.

The art here was 'reaching' at best. The passport exhibit was a major risk for identity theft for anyone dumb enough to make a copy of their passport and hang it on the wall. The only two good things were the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the fact that there wasn't an entry fee. But parking on the street blocks away was a pain, as the garages seemed to be reserved for staff/students. But that doesn't matter, as I likely will not be back.
Jsa G — Google review
I love art, everything about it. And you can tell that the curators here have the passion for art as well. The exhibits are beautiful and there is always plently to look at. I love when they put up the student exhibitions, seeing their insane talent and passion for traditional art is inspiring and raw. I will return again, happily.

Overpriced. Underserving. It's almost a tomb of dreams. The Pavilion is some awful reminder of what could have been. (We _need_ a proper (indoor, mind you,) multi-stage Performing Arts Center.) Tallahassee isn't alone, as anyone can read about how Malls are going extinct with the ease and adaptation to 'online' shopping. Meanwhile, the physical remains of this attempt to 'outdoorsify' this mall into a music venue, with strollable alleys and walkways, making it very pedestrian-friendly with window shopping, and food vendors and a food court. All of that failed. Oh - _please_ go to Lemon Grass! They're hanging on for dear life and their food is pretty good. But, as a whole. The Centre is a waking nightmare of poor planning and horrible business.

I met my friend for dinner on my road trip, and we both enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I ordered the honey bbq wings and french fries. The wings were delicious and very filling - I could only finish 8 of the 10. I was a bit disappointed with the fries, as they seemed to be the frozen variety, but they were decent. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the wooden benches were fun and different. The service was quite good.

Hayward House Bistro is a new restaurant located in the former home of Andrews Downtown, offering a delightful experience for visitors. The establishment features signature cocktails such as The Haze and The Bees Knees, along with discounted rose prices during the weekend. While some patrons found the service to be exceptional and the food to be of high quality, others felt that certain details were overlooked. Despite this, it's considered a great place to meet friends for a meal and drinks.
My first time here, and was not disappointed. From the friendly greeting at the door, to the inviting yet not overwhelming atmosphere, to the clean bathrooms and finally the absolutely amazing food, I recommend. Our server was an experienced gentleman from New York who had excellent recommendations, and we wanted for nothing through the entire meal. A step up from Andrew’s in my opinion. 10/10 ⭐️

Good lunch and dinner options. Fairly fast service, good lunch spot. The menu is varied so something for everyone....appetizers, sandwiches, dinners, etc. Full bar with liquor/beer options. We enjoyed the heirloom tomato BLT and French dip. Edited to add the Katsu Eggplant sandwich is silly delicious, the wedge salad looks incredible, and the French fries are always great. Have also previously enjoyed the chicken dandwich.
Gordon D — Google review
The Whipped Feta and Pork Belly appetizers were pretty good. The Fries Chicken Sandwich was good but a tad on the burnt side. The Halibut was slightly overcooked. The Short Ribs pasta was great. Would return.
Antonio R — Google review
I went during a kinda slow period but it took a while to even get water and a menu which wasn't ideal. Someone other than my server had to notice and come help out. But other than that the food and drink were good! I had a peach cocktail and a fish wrap. They were both well made and tasted good. Nothing mind boggling but certainly satisfactory, and worth the cost.

Hayward House is conveniently located right near the Capitol, City Hall, and other downtown staples where Andrew's used to be. The decor has a modern spin but is still cozy, especially if you snag a velvet-covered booth. My first visit to Hayward was not long after they opened. I eased in with their crab bisque soup (they changed the menu and I no longer see it on there) and a wedge salad. The bisque was perfectly seasoned and had the right amount of creaminess. I have since been back and enjoyed the weather outside in cooler months, as well as indoors to avoid the humidity and stifling heat. Some of my favorites are their chicken wing appetizer (try the dry rub ranch with their house ranch; delicious), wedge salad, poutine, asparagus as a side, and their redfish as a wrap or without if you have a gluten allergy. Hayward's service is fast enough to get you in and out within an hour so you can get back to work expeditiously.

We had an amazing experience at Hayward House! I was looking for the perfect location to celebrate my daughter’s college graduation, and Toni was awesome from the start. She was both knowledgeable and kind, offering great options to accommodate our large party. The private room was beautifully set up and ready to welcome our guests. The delicious menu had something for everyone—children and adults alike—and our guests couldn’t stop raving about how much they enjoyed the food! To top it all off, we had two wonderful servers who seemed dedicated solely to our party. They worked efficiently and attentively to make sure we had everything we needed. All in all, our visit to Hayward House was a true 5-star experience, and I look forward to returning in the future!

We recently had Hayward House cater an office baby shower, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The food was absolutely exquisite—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Everything was delivered right on schedule and presented with care and attention to detail. A special thank you to Toni, who went above and beyond to assist with our order. Her professionalism and dedication ensured that every aspect was perfectly executed. I am truly grateful for her support and highly recommend Hayward House for any catering needs.

The brewery offers a wide variety of beer styles, seltzers, and wine in a dog-friendly environment with treats for pups. Visitors can enjoy the outstanding Fuggles English Dark Mild Ale with its full flavor and relatively low ABV. Amicus Brewing Ventures has quickly become my favorite spot in Tallahassee! Nestled in the historic Old City Waterworks building, this brewery offers not just great beer but an entire experience. The location next to Cascades Park is perfect for a relaxing afternoon or evening out. What really makes Amicus special is the atmosphere. It's incredibly welcoming and inclusive, making it a great place to bring family and friends. Even my dog loves it here! The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable, ready to recommend a drink or just chat about the latest brews. If you're in Tallahassee, you absolutely have to check out Amicus Brewing Ventures. It's more than just a brewery; it's a place where great drinks, good food, and wonderful people come together. Highly recommended!

A great brewery located right next to Cascades Park. They host trivia on Thursdays, which is always a fun and lively time. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, and the atmosphere inside is comfortable. They will also have different food trucks on-site, which keeps the food options diverse. Definitely worth checking out!

I had a great experience with my pour, and my favorite beer, Summer Crush, was fantastic! The brewery offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a perfect spot to gather with friends or family. When I visited, there was a food truck parked outside, which was perfect for satisfying any food cravings. The place was clean, and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended!

Amicus is our favorite brewery in town! The ambience is great: cool outdoor space and a beautifully converted historic building. Everyone who works there is friendly, and the atmosphere is inclusive and welcoming. Food trucks and events vary, so there is always something interesting going on. The Fuggles English Dark Mild is great, but if you are lucky enough to see Vacay Fuggles (with coconut & vanilla) in a limited appearance, I highly recommend it! They also have non-alcoholic beverages so there is something for everyone.

Amicus is a great brewery with a wide variety of beer styles, seltzers and wine. The staff are very friendly and it's a very dog friendly place (they even have treats for pups!). The Fuggles English Dark Mild Ale is outstanding and is unique in that it is full of flavor but has a relatively low ABV (3.7%). The outdoor area is great and they usually have a food truck on hand which is great. I highly recommend checking Amicus out!

Had a special event "The Night Before Welcome Party" for out of town guests before my son's wedding and it was great! No one let a little rain before it started, dampen the evening! The venue was great, the staff was awesome and the beer and beverages were delicious!!! We had a memorable evening and can't recommend this place enough! The atmosphere and customer service are the best!

Absolutely the best brewery in Tallahassee—no question about it! The space is beautiful, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I really appreciate how family-friendly and community-oriented they are. There’s always something fun happening, which makes every visit exciting. Their collaborations with local vendors turn it from just a brewery into a full, immersive experience.

Visited Amicus for the first time today and was thoroughly impressed. The selection was fantastic and the owner Shannon treated me like we'd known each other for years. I also love the big, open architecture and decor. So glad to find a new special place to be with my friends. Stop on by and experience this gem of an establishment.

Westcott Fountain, a cherished symbol of Florida State University's rich heritage, has been a focal point for over 70 years. Originally gifted by the Florida State College of Women in 1915, this impressive fountain is adorned with beautiful statuary and serves as a popular spot for students to gather and celebrate milestones like graduation. Recently, new astro turf has been installed around the fountain, providing a soft and natural surface that replaces the previous challenges of maintaining real grass.
So, they have just installed new astro turf around the fountain; it feels soft and gives under your feet like actual grass. It's not that tacky bright green, but a more natural color. It was a constant battle to keep real grass growing with all of the chlorine splashing and constant visitors. Enjoy!!

This iconic fountain is great for throwing your best friends in for dip on their birthday. It also happens to be a favorite for graduation photos as well.

Impressive architecture, beautiful fountain, often full of college students particularly around graduation. Be forewarned that some of the figures memorialized in statuary do not live up to today's standards of social awareness.

Event venue
SouthWood Ball House and Cottages is a beautifully maintained and impeccably decorated wedding venue in the heart of Florida. The cottages are furnished with floral-patterned bedspreads, up to two double beds, a kitchenette with a microwave, and a private bathroom. Guests can enjoy peace and quiet while staying in one of five wood-paneled cottages on the grounds, or choose to stay in one of the many rooms at the main house.
Ball House and Cottages was the best place for our wedding. The property is absolutely gorgeous from the house itself to all the beautiful oak trees covered with Spanish moss. Kathy, who helps manage the property, was one of the most helpful people during the wedding planning process and made me feel so much less stressed. It was a bonus to be able to stay in one of the cottages after our wedding, which was also adorable. Love, love, love this place.
Brittney C — Google review
My husband and I had such a relaxing getaway. The cottage was decorated in a way that we felt like we traveled back in time. The fireplace kept us warm and the rocking chairs on the porch made the perfect place for coffee in the morning. Communication was on point. Any issue we had they addressed right away. We will be coming back for sure. Go Noles!

Church
First Presbyterian Church, located in Tallahassee, Florida, is a historic church building constructed in 1838 with a prominent Classic Revival style. It holds significance as the only remaining church from the territorial days and served as a refuge for women and children during the Seminole Wars. The church features an original gallery where enslaved members sat apart from their masters.
Great experience! The sound quality was a 10. The candle aesthetic was a 10. The musicians were professional, engaging, and super talented. I will be going to more in different cities.
J G — Google review
The church is beautiful, and the sound is excellent. However, if you have a balcony seat for any of the candlelight orchestra performances, your view will be obstructed if you don't get the front row. You can see almost none of it if you are closer to the stage and in the second row.
Tyler L — Google review
This is a must for traditional holiday lovers. Live strings to (volatile) candlelight. I was thankful the candles were not real. There were hundreds of beautiful burning candles providing the only light in the church!
Karen K — Google review

A beautiful memorial about the Korean War. Shows the shape of Korea and lists the names or the places. Has a list of all the people lost in the war.

Really nice monument that signifies the bifurcation of North and South Korea. The top of the monument is broken and that broken piece has the name of the Americans that were killed during the war, whom were from Florida.

I dislike the fact that it is closed due to construction at the memorial, not the memorial itself. I'm sure that the full scale of the memorial is beautiful. But if the construction will make it better then that's great.
