City Hall

Government Buildings
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Brisbane City Hall is a historic government building with a neoclassical facade that dates back to the early 20th century. The architecture combines elements from the Pantheon in Rome and the campanile belltower in Venice, making it a unique sight to behold. Visitors can take guided tours of the clock tower and explore the Museum of Brisbane on the third floor, which showcases local history from the city's founding to its present cosmopolitan status.
City Hall is beautiful and truly iconic. Inside and out I've always found there to be something magical about it. I've been to many events held here over the years from balls, to awards, voting even bridal expos and it's a very versatile space. The historical beauty is well presented and preserved. I've added a couple of photos from tonight when we took the kids in for the ever spectacular Christmas display. Honestly it gets better every year. My only gripe about it is the amount of dark harsh concrete in King George Square from the renovations they did years ago. It gets so hot in summer. I wish they would add some trees back to allow for some shade so you could take time to comfortably appreciate the area more. Otherwise it's lovely.

Had both my wedding ceremony (in the Windsor Room) and reception (in the Brisbane Room) held at this beautiful and majestic venue in March 2025. I liaised with Jacinta from EPICURE and she was so lovely, patient and empathetic throughout the whole process. From doing a venue tour, to a menu tasting after hours and up till the wedding day itself, she was nothing but accommodating. My vendors also mentioned how nice she was to work with. This venue offers many wedding packages that suit many budgets. There are a plethora of rooms to choose from. There are also many great photo locations for wedding portraits. My husband and I thought the packages were very reasonably priced and included many things not included in other venue packages. The food on the night was phenomenal. From the presentation to the taste, each course was artistically prepared. The proportions were great and the cake was plated with finesse. Just a minor thing to note if you do plan to book Brisbane City Hall as your wedding venue. They are a heritage-listed site, so no open-flames allowed (ie LED candles & tea lights only and no sparkulators) and nothing can be affixed to the walls and flooring to preserve the materials. As part of the contract, you will also need to take out indemnity insurance. In summary, I definitely recommend Brisbane City Hall as a wedding venue. The photos of the venue speak for themselves.
Tiffany L — Google review
A beautiful venue for your wedding or function with so many stunning heritage features. We attended a ball for the RBWH and the food was not only beautifully presented but tasted great. Service staff were so very good for such a large function.

Explore the public and administrative spaces that comprise the seat of the Brisbane area government. In order to get the behind the scenes peak, it will be a good idea to sign up for the free guided tours. Walk back to the beginnings of the efforts to design, fund, and eventually the start of construction through the renovation work that resulted in the reopening of the storied building in 2013. Tours are comprised of about 14 people, so be sure to book early to make arrangements for larger groups. You may opt to online the clock tower tour if you haven't already done so in the past.
D.L. P — Google review
Brisbane City Hall anchors King George Square with its grand sandstone columns and soaring clock tower, a slice of Neoclassical elegance in the middle of the CBD. The foyer greets visitors with polished marble floors, bronze honour boards and a skylit dome that draws eyes upward before you have even collected a tour ticket. Free guided tours run several times a day and take you through the formal Council Chamber, past Art Deco stained-glass windows and into the circular auditorium where the heritage pipe organ still roars to life for lunchtime recitals. A separate lift whisks small groups to the clock tower viewing platform, 76 metres above the square. The original hand-operated lift rattles charmingly on the way up and the reward is a 360-degree sweep across the river bends, the Glasshouse Mountains on a clear day and the hive of commuter ferries below. Back at ground level, the Museum of Brisbane fills the former administrative offices with rotating exhibitions that explore everything from local First Nations stories to contemporary art and fashion. Entry is free and the volunteer guides are generous with anecdotes if you linger by an object. Practicalities are thoughtful. Book clock tower tickets online or grab a timed pass early in the day; they disappear quickly on weekends and school holidays. Wide ramps and lifts make the building accessible, lockers sit beside the museum entrance for bags, and a relaxed café in the adjoining arcade offers coffee and light meals without tourist-tax pricing. TransLink buses and the Queen Street Mall light-rail stop sit within a block, making the visit easy without a car. Whether you come for the architecture, the city views or a dose of local history between meetings, Brisbane City Hall delivers a satisfying blend of civic pride and welcoming public space.

The clock tower and the city hall in the center of King George Square defines the heritage in this vicinity. It was a great place to check out while in Brisbane. Such a beautiful ground floor. Remarkable building in the centre of Brisbane. Take the free tour along with the elevator ride up to the top of the clock tower for a unique view of the city.

The Brisbane City Hall hosted an absolutely magical performance of The Dream of Gerontius, with the Brisbane Chorale and the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra teaming up to deliver this musical extravaganza on Sunday 23rd August. My family loved the performance, and the concert hall itself was stately and atmospheric, and the organ is a wonder in itself! A gorgeous venue

I took the free tour of the hall. Our tour guide was so sassy and fun! (Maite ♡) Wonderful place and we got to visit the basement as well.

The Wheel of Brisbane is a must-visit iconic landmark offering breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the city. Rising 60 meters above the ground, visitors can enjoy enclosed gondolas that provide safety and comfort for up to 8 people. Whether it's during the day, at sunset, or at night, each ride includes an engaging audio tour of Brisbane's landscape.
Amazing experience!! I went on a weekend, yet it was very organised. Best time to get on between 5 and 6. One could see the buildings and whole of Brisbane city.
Manish M — Google review
I've been in it a few times now. It's something my girls look forward to when in Brisbane, and we still purchase every time, our photo taken by staff prior entering to the cabin. Good memories.
Iris R — Google review
Really cool experience. Air conditioning was nice, view incredible. The only disappointment was not being warned about the protest that was scheduled at the same time at the base of the wheel. Unfortunately we could not hear one part of the audio tour.
Carli S — Google review
It comes with a novelty map so you can identify lots of places when your almost halfway up till almost halfway down.I believe you can almost see the Coast from it's peak during the day,but even know the night time is less to view,it makes up for it with all the city lights on display. If your lucky anuff to have a cabin on the wheel during NYE,or river fire, you will carry the best memories and pics you will have in many years.Go enjoy,it is worth every cent.I chose to take own pics,so i savef nearly $30 not getting picture supplied with ride.

This attraction allows you to view spectacular sunsets over the Brisbane skyline from 60 meters above the ground. The Wheel of Brisbane has 42 air-conditioned gondolas, each accommodating up to six adults and two children. A ride takes between 10 and 15 minutes and includes approximately four rotations.

Did it at night & it was a gorgeous sight. Would love to ride on a gorgeous summer day. Air conditioned pods with sound control for the audio tour. Do recommend (even as a local)!

Customs House is an iconic riverside restaurant located in Brisbane, Australia. It is housed within a heritage-listed building and offers a unique dining experience with modern Australian cuisine. The restaurant, known as Patina, emphasizes fresh seasonal produce and local seafood in its contemporary paddock-to-plate fare. The menu features elevated dishes such as wagyu beef tartare and 12-hour lamb shoulder.
A special anniversary dinner in a special place. My husband and I had our anniversary dinner at Customs House, last night in Australia for us. We are Italian so very demanding when it comes to food and wine. We have been welcomed kindly by Joe who found us a table ( we had no reservation) and promptly took us some water. Then Marcel assisted us for all the dinner time with patience and professionalism. Amazing plates, tastes, very well served and presented. Classy and sober space, nice lights, cutlery. Very good wine selection. Both Joe and Marcel are high level professionals who deserve the best. They also gifted us with a surprise dessert for our anniversary, priceless. We hope we can be back and meet them again in future. All the best! Paola and Federico

The lamb shoulder and rib fillet has always been great here, but the tempura bug was also delicious. The portion of the lamb shoulder is enough to share with 3 very hungry people (and yes we do eat large portions normally). Isaac and Joe provided excellent service as well. Being a UQ alumni gives a decent discount to the final bill. Would always come back here!

Customs House Brisbane – A Grand Blend of Heritage, Hospitality & Community Impact Yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of attending a truly inspiring event at one of Brisbane’s most iconic venues — Customs House, located right in the heart of the CBD. The occasion was the launch of “Understanding Australia’s Indian Communities: A Statistical Snapshot”, hosted by The University of Queensland. The event was a beautiful celebration of Indian-Australian friendship, diversity, and contribution, held in the magnificent Long Room under the heritage-listed copper dome. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was warm and dignified — the perfect setting for such a culturally significant and forward-thinking initiative. The University of Queensland team did a fantastic job in highlighting the vibrant role Indian communities play across Australia, supported by insightful presentations and meaningful data. The venue itself, as always, was breathtaking. Customs House never fails to impress — with its grand colonial architecture, riverside location, and views of the Story Bridge. Whether it’s a high-profile event or a weekend brunch, the space offers elegance and character in every corner. 🥂 After the event, many guests gathered at Patina at Customs House, the in-house restaurant, for light refreshments. The service was seamless, the views unbeatable, and the quality — as always — top-tier. Whether it’s their modern Australian menu, high tea, or just a riverside coffee, Patina delivers every time. ⸻ ✅ What I loved most: • A perfect venue for meaningful community and cultural events • Stunning architecture with riverside charm • Thoughtful hosting by UQ — professional, inclusive, and inspiring • Impeccable service at Patina restaurant • Celebrating diversity in such a prestigious setting made the moment even more special ⸻ 💬 Final thoughts: Customs House is more than just a dining destination — it’s a symbol of connection, history, and progress. Yesterday’s event was a proud moment for the Indian-Australian community, and this venue brought it all together beautifully. Highly recommend it for both personal outings and professional events!
Amit M — Google review
A great venue managed by University of Queensland. Excellent space for medium to large size events. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was really good and they catered for dietary requirements. The AV team was also pretty good and on point with running a hybrid event. The only one comment is that accessibility could be better + there are toilets but they are fairly small.
Sebastian M — Google review
We had high tea in the Patina restaurant alongside the river. It had lovely views and a nice set up. The waiting staff were wonderful and attentive. But most importantly the food was amazing!
Lucy H — Google review
I was working an event here and we booked a private space. We had the reception outside and meal inside and it was stunning. The view was spectacular, and the food was SO great and flavorful. They were also really good on pacing the courses. It was a 20+ hour trip here, but very worth it and our entire group enjoyed! The creme brulee was so great.
Monyé — Google review
Highly recommend for all events. Nicola and the team at Customs House helped us plan the most perfect wedding! The food and drinks menu was honestly the best we found in Brisbane and the views over the river were a spectacular backdrop. From our first meeting almost 2 years ago to picking up belongings after our wedding - everything was smooth and easy with customs house - thanks so much Nicola!
Chloe — Google review
We had a wonderful wedding at Customs House, with both the ceremony and reception held there. Nicola was very helpful and made the whole planning process easy. The checklist and workflow were clear and smooth, and everything ran on time on the day. The food was great, and our guests really enjoyed it. Overall, it was a beautiful venue and a great experience — thank you to Nicola and the team for making our day so special.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, located just north of Brisbane's CBD, is the world's largest koala sanctuary and a haven for Australian native wildlife. Visitors can watch koalas lounging in gumtrees, hand-feed kangaroos, and observe endangered species like the cassowary. The sanctuary offers keeper talks throughout the day and opportunities to learn about various Aussie wildlife while exploring at your own pace.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is truly one of Brisbane’s most special attractions and a must-visit for anyone who loves animals. From the moment you walk in, the natural bushland setting makes you feel close to wildlife in a peaceful environment. The highlight, of course, is the koalas—you can see them up close, learn about their habits, and even have the chance to gently hold one for a photo, which is an unforgettable experience. Beyond koalas, the sanctuary offers so much more. You can hand-feed kangaroos in a large open field, watch platypuses swimming, and see a variety of native birds, reptiles, and farm animals. The daily keeper talks and shows are both fun and educational, making it a great place for families and kids to learn about Australia’s unique wildlife. The staff are friendly and clearly passionate about animal care and conservation, which adds to the overall experience. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, with plenty of shaded areas to rest. There’s also a nice café with good food and drinks. Overall, Lone Pine is not just a sanctuary but a place where you truly connect with nature. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike!
Kabir H — Google review
Easy to reach using private or public transport from the QBD. The venue hosts different species not just koalas but also Kangaroos, crocodiles, reptiles, birds. For the welfare of animals koalas cannot be hugged but guests can pay more to see them closer and cuddle them with the supervision of staff. Everybody working seemed professional and committed to preserve the welfare of the animals. A bit pricy, but considering what you get it is still worth a visit.
Riccardo D — Google review
A must-visit in Brisbane! Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an amazing experience where you can get up close with koalas, kangaroos, and so many native Australian animals. The park is well-maintained, staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the animals are clearly well cared for. Loved the chance to see a koala up close and feed the kangaroos such a memorable experience for locals and visitors alike!
Kuan-Yu C — Google review
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a must-visit considering it's status as the world's first, oldest, and largest koala sanctuary in the world. It was truly a special experience seeing and interacting with the koalas and kangaroos up close especially in the huge free-roam area where the kangaroos were. The park is very well-maintained, with a number of other sections with a variety of other insects and animals. Definitely worth a visit if ever in Brisbane!
Cheryl T — Google review
Is a fantastic place to visit, you can be with the Kanguru and give them a special food. if you pay a little more you can touch the koala for some minutes and take pretty nice pictures. The sanctuary space is beautiful with a very good structure, with birds, crocodile and more.
Diego C — Google review
We are from the USA, living temporarily in Queensland for 18 months. Whenever we have friends or family visiting, Long Pine is one of the first places we go. We bought the 12 month pass to save a little money. We love to go in the afternoon, after the crowds have diminished. There's not as many shows, but it just seems more relaxing. Our guests love interacting with the kangaroos and getting so close to the koalas. You really don't need a lot of time to catch their exhibits, so Long Pine is a good go to place if you want to see some of the unique animals Australia has to offer.
Craig C — Google review
Fantastic for the whole family. The owl encounter far exceeded my expectations. Leanne and the team have so much knowledge and really know how to respect the animals and also have them guided over in a way that they seemed to be genuinely having fun. Beautiful lay out, and the Koalas were so very special.
Joy J — Google review
Excellent experience kangaroos can be fed. The Tasmanian Devil looks soft but look at those jaws and teeth. Koala are always good to watch. So is the Platypus we saw a central python as well as all the other birds and animals. Well worth the entry fee. You may want to get there early before the crowds come in we went on a week day and by lunch time there were people everywhere

The Queensland Cultural Centre, situated in the heart of Brisbane, is a vibrant and diverse destination that offers a range of cultural experiences. Visitors can explore multiple venues including a performing arts centre, various museums, and the State Library. The precinct boasts premier museum and gallery spaces such as the Queensland Museum with its dinosaur exhibits, hands-on science displays; QAGOMA featuring world-class art and interactive kids' areas; and the State Library of Queensland offering daily sessions for children.
A good place to enjoy with your love ones and friends. Very informative and rich in history. Cafe's are available inside for quick break. They have the Ancient Egypt display and cost $29 for adults until August.

Not the Science Museum of old and has changed alot since my last visit . An interesting and lovely space to visit , discover and explore. The cafe needed a few more child friendly options (basic sandwiches ect ) but otherwise a great addition. The gift store could use some Brisbane and Cultural centre merchandise that shows the place they visited. Rather then just the assortment they had which is my "opportunity for development" advice but they were very minor issues I noticed . The displays were very informative they had lots of information and it was a wonderful collection.

The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is a contemporary art museum located in a modern riverside building in Brisbane, Australia. Established in 2006 as an extension of the Queensland Art Gallery, GOMA has quickly gained recognition as one of the largest modern and contemporary art galleries in Australia.
Had the pleasure of visiting the Gallery of Modern Act this afternoon. The venue is outstanding and so well maintained. There are 4 levels of exhibitions and they are all modern and contemporary. It is appropriate because there are exhibitions that challenge modern ideas and social norms. Thank you to everyone who is involved in the management and services provided at the Gallery. If you haven't visited, do yourself a favour and come experience the excellence here.

The Gallery of Modern Art is truly inspiring! The exhibitions are diverse and well-curated, offering both international and local perspectives. The space is bright, open, and beautifully designed, making it enjoyable to explore at your own pace. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is welcoming for all ages. A must-visit in Brisbane!

Good place to visit on weekend going out. It was free to see art exhibitions. This is next normal art museum. And also near Queensland library . It is very nice area and enjoyable. I visited both. It took around 3 hours total . 10mins from Brisbane south station. I visited with my family. Quiet and quality arts . Also there are nice cafe. If you don’t like noisy place , here is calm and quiet and makes you feel relax and enjoyable.

Wonderful place to visit. Knowledgeable and friendly experts to guide you through individual sections of the gallery. A carefully selected art work both domestic and international. I particularly appreciate the indigenous artists creation, beautiful and meaningful. The cafe wasn't too bad either, delicious toasted sandwich with a bunch of different food to cater for different dietary requirements. Definitely, worth a visit here.

A truly beautiful art center — every floor has its own unique character and charm! It’s also incredibly family-friendly. The children’s area was wonderful, and Clare was exceptionally warm, friendly, and welcoming. Her bright smile and kindness made our visit such a joyful and memorable experience. Highly recommended! Loved this museum. Its big, not too busy and has wonderful exibitions! Plus its free. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here. Def. kid friendly with a cafe + play area on the river if you need refreshments.

The curators managed to take such a familiar fairytale and present it in a way that was fresh, imaginative, and deeply immersive. From the delicate costumes and sparkling gowns to the intricate set designs that re-created iconic moments, every corner of the exhibition invited you to pause, look closer, and get swept up in the magic. What I loved most was how it balanced nostalgia with creativity. The exhibition wasn’t just about retelling the fairytale—it explored how Cinderella has been reinterpreted in different cultures and across different mediums, from paintings and fashion to film and pop culture. Walking through, it felt both whimsical and thought-provoking, reminding me how stories we grow up with continue to evolve and inspire. If you’re in Brisbane, this exhibition is an absolute must-see, whether you’re a lover of art, fairytales, or just want to experience a touch of enchantment.

The Gallery of Modern Art offers a wonderful chance to see the world through the eyes of different artists — a perfect place to slow down and reflect on life. What touched me most was an artwork tracing a family tree that reminded us that, thousands of years ago, we were all connected as one big family. It made me wonder — why do we still create so many divisions between races today?

Nestled in the heart of Brisbane, the City Botanic Gardens is a captivating botanical haven that offers a diverse range of plant life, tranquil ponds, and inviting picnic areas. This verdant oasis serves as a living museum of botanical collections and provides an idyllic escape from the urban hustle and bustle. Visitors can explore manicured lawns, riverside pathways shaded by majestic fig trees, and charming ponds inhabited by ducks.
Peaceful escape right in Brisbane’s city centre 🌿📸 City Botanic Gardens is one of those places that instantly slows you down. The mix of riverside views, tall palm avenues, and giant fig trees makes it super photogenic — especially around sunrise or sunset when the light hits the water. I love coming here for a quiet walk, a jog, or to just sit under the trees and watch the city go by. The pathways are well-maintained, and there are plenty of open lawns perfect for picnics. Don’t miss the mangrove boardwalk — it’s a hidden gem and great for nature shots. There’s also a small café near the entrance if you want coffee with a view, and QUT and the ferry terminal are just a short walk away, so it’s really easy to get here.

Nice area for a walk right next to CBD although it did feel more like a park as opposed to a botanical garden. Lots of areas were also under maintenance or blocked out for improvements during our visit. The walking area next to the river is nice and calming, and overall the park in general does give you a little bit of that separation from city bustle. Public toilets available though I didn't go in to check condition. Free access.

Located right in the heart of Brisbane, the Botanic Gardens feel like a completely different world — a peaceful retreat surrounded by lush greenery. Right beside the city’s skyscrapers, you can enjoy the striking contrast between nature and urban life. A pond with fountains, colorful flowers, and tropical plants welcome you, making every step along the paths soothing and refreshing✨ It’s perfect for a walk or picnic, and truly serves as an oasis in the middle of sightseeing. —A precious moment to take a deep breath and relax, right in the center of the city🪴

We took a walk in the Botanic Gardens at dawn, and it was absolutely tranquil and beautiful. We watched the sunrise from the riverwalk before wandering into the garden. Even at dawn, the pathways were softly lit with ambient lights, creating a magical and peaceful atmosphere. A truly lovely experience!

I am yet to go through the garden during the day but l’ve really enjoyed it at night, twice, strolling through for Afterglow, as part of Brisbane Festival. Good amount of walking, lots to see, different types of plants and vegetation and a pond.

Nestled within Brisbane's City Hall, the Museum of Brisbane (MoB) is a free-to-visit art gallery and museum that showcases the city's history, culture, and contemporary art. Visitors can explore historical exhibits, including artifacts like convict leg irons and a 200-year-old telescope once owned by Sir Thomas Brisbane. The museum also offers free tours of the iconic City Hall clock tower.
Museum of Brisbane is in the city hall on the third floor. This is a free entry facility and the collections are impressive. There are 2 main areas, “precious “ exhibitions and new light photography now and then. There are good collections of historical photographs of Brisbane which is very interesting. Also another area called Precious where different kinds of collections from toys to medical and architectural models. They have a souvenir store at the entrance and toilets nearby. They have free locker facilities as backpacks are not allowed in the museum. Overall we had a great time and Thanks MoB.

You definitely gonna need at least 2 hours there! I got there near closing time so didn’t get to see much. I was fascinated by one of the collections so spent 5 min reading and appreciating the art piece already. Staff were not rushing me to exist though. Located in the city center but it wasn’t crowded when I went. Free admission. Will definitely return.

The Queensland Museum in Brisbane is a fascinating destination that combines history, science, culture and interactive learning in one place. Located in the South Bank cultural precinct, it is easy to access and perfect for visitors of all ages. The museum features engaging permanent exhibitions as well as rotating special displays, so there is always something new to see. Inside, you can explore topics such as Queensland’s natural history, Indigenous culture, marine life, dinosaurs and modern science. Many exhibits are hands-on and educational, making it especially enjoyable for children and families. I have visited museums in multiple Australian cities, but this one stands out for its variety, presentation quality and the balance between learning and entertainment. The museum is clean, well-organised and free to enter, which makes it an excellent value. Staff members are friendly and helpful, and the layout is easy to navigate. There are also interactive zones, multimedia displays and live demonstrations that keep visitors engaged. What I love most is that the museum connects the past and present of Queensland in a meaningful way. It is not just a place to look at objects—it tells stories. Whether you enjoy history, science or culture, this museum offers a memorable and inspiring experience. Overall, Queensland Museum is one of the best museums in Australia and a must-visit when exploring Brisbane.

My first to visiting the Museum of Brisbane and it was a lovely experience getting to see the FREE to enter 'Precious' exhibit, which was an awesome array of people collections from over the years. There were all sorts, tea tins, medicine boxes, shells, toys, glass, football memorabilia, axes. Really cool to get to walk through and explore the exhibit and I can't wait to see what they have on next.

It's a Brisbane city icon, the Clock Tower tour located a top of the tower, is particularly recommended. To access it, reserve your preferred visit time online in advance and once you arrive, you'll be able to tour in a small group with a guide starting at the Clock Tower Entry located in the level 3. The museum guide will also provide a brief overview of Brisbane's history and surrounding area, making it a great destination for families with children.

Museum of Brisbane is a gem right in the city center—beautifully designed, easy to access, and completely free to enter. A perfect stop whether you’re exploring the city or just looking for something inspiring to do.

It a small interesting museum made by contribution from Australians from various diaspora (the first one I've seen that has Indian 'Golu' display). It is a good place to visit of you like peace and quiet or want to go on a Introvert dates. You can even take your family members along and spend time looking and discussing things. While looking at some historic Brisbane references. Not a Museum in a traditional sense, but one nonetheless. You can spend about an hour or so here, and it's best priced (Free!).

Brisbane Powerhouse, a former coal-fired power station transformed into a lively arts center, offers a diverse range of entertainment including plays, concerts, and speaker series. Originally constructed in 1927 and repurposed from a decommissioned power station, it now serves as an arts and cultural hub featuring performing arts, visual arts, festivals, and free community events.
The best place to hold the Brisbane Comedy Festival. Great restaurant, great bar and fantastic venues. I just don't like the clipped together small seats they use. We have visited Brisbane Powerhouse quite a couple of times and recently came to know the history of it which is fascinating. Last week I visited the World Press Photography Exhibition which left me speechless about the level of nuisance we are in in the name of humankind which is setting back us an intelligent species. The ohotographies were so powerful and spoke a lot of stories about the conditions of the conflicts we are going through in the planet. Thanks team for bringing this up in the exhibition. Also it hosts a number of other exhibitions and music shows etc , it's really a powerhouse of cultural programs.

Newstead House, located in Brisbane, Queensland, is the oldest surviving residence in the area, dating back to 1846. Initially a colonial Georgian cottage for Patrick Leslie, it has evolved over the years and now serves as a museum showcasing historical collections. The house overlooks the Brisbane River from a lush park and offers visitors a glimpse into Brisbane's history with its late Victorian period style interior.

Have always been curious about what was inside (when it was undergoing a renovation in 2024). Ended up going through during Brisbane Open House 2025. It was interesting and each room was presented nicely with information signs to read about the history / stories. Seeing the servants quarters underneath the house was cool. And stunning river / park views from the balcony. Enjoyed visiting. Toilets were available onsite, but there are also some public toilets in the nearby park. Spent approximately 30min here and that was enough for us, but you’d need more time (1hr) if you are reading all the information.

Newstead house has a lot of history about the the house and the grounds. The grounds are immaculate and perfect which I think is very good. Inside the house their is a lot of history to get your head around but how the house is setup it is perfect. The house and grounds are beautiful in every way. But their is only one problem their is not enough parking and even when their is the driveway is too small and it is hard to park and if you park on the street you have to pay😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩. Other than that the grounds are immaculate and they are beautiful. Good job keeping the grounds beautiful you should be proud😊😊

The park is spacious with a lots of statues and memorials; however, I think the most important spot is the eternal flame. Definitely a must see hidden gem in Brisbane CBD or you’ll regret it. Aside from that, the scenery of the buildings and park from the higher level (north end) of the square is quite magnificent. There is a parking lot entrance on the south edge of the park on Adelaide Street.

What a wonderful location! I have been to ANZAC Memorial Gardens across Australia and around the world, and this one is up there. The Gardens are so well maintained, and there is a certain reverence around the Gardens. It is nice because it shows memorials for the different wars and conflicts Australia has been involved in. One curious thing is that I didn't see any mention of the conflicts Aussies have been involved in in the 21st century. It is a well maintained and reflective location, and it was nice to see people showing it the respect it deserves. Thank you to everyone who maintains the high standard of ANZAC Square.

Visitors appreciate the beautifully maintained gardens, the impressive war memorials, and the solemn atmosphere dedicated to honoring Australia's servicemen and women. The square features the Shrine of Remembrance, which is often highlighted for its architectural beauty and the poignant Eternal Flame. Many reviewers find the space to be a peaceful place for reflection, especially in the heart of the busy city. The informative plaques and memorials provide educational insights into Australia's military history. Events and ceremonies held at Anzac Square, particularly on Anzac Day, are also noted for their emotional and respectful tributes. Wow! I don’t know how many times I have walked past here but the doors were open today and I went in to the Memorial Galleries. I was met at the door by a lovely lady that worked there who showed me around. She was such a wrath of knowledge and wonderful to talk to. The Memorial is full of interactive displays on the history of Australias involvement in war and peacekeeping. A must visit for every Australian.

Clients appreciate the thorough explanations provided throughout the process and the care taken in creating meaningful designs. The studio's welcoming atmosphere and knowledgeable staff make it a top recommendation for anyone considering getting a tattoo.
One of the best tattoo experiences I've ever had! The studio is comfortable, and everyone is very welcoming. Layla was AMAZING! She is friendly, caring and attentive, talking you through the process to ensure you have a comfortable experience. But she also has excellent attention to detail - little things that others wouldn't think about, she was onto it! You couldn't get a better combination in an artist ❤

Thank you Lauren for all the lovely tattoos! I love them all. Came back for the 4th time and more soon. Very comfortable and chill place. Everyone's amazing and friendly. Highly recommended!

Alex was wonderful. His level of detail doing microneedle tattoo is excellent, everyone who sees my tattoo absolutely loves it (especially me!). My very first tattoo, a pet portrait, and it was such an easy process that he explained every step of the way. Very professional and it is clear that Alex loves doing his art, we weren't done until he was happy with every little detail. I highly recommend him, be sure to book in quick when his bookings open. I am keen for more tattoos by him in the future!

Today I had my first tattoo done by Layla, and it was such a smooth and wonderful experience, exceeding all my expectations from the moment I walked in the door. I got a really good vibe from the cute studio and felt really welcome and comfortable the entire time. The service was amazing, everyone was so friendly, and my tattoo is beautiful and even better than I had hoped it would be. I will definitely be back soon! P.S - I went back for another tattoo with Layla and I love it SO MUCH and had a wonderful experience again. I will be back in the new year for more :)

I just had my first tattoos with Layla today and loved the experience! Layla was friendly and informative. She explained the process and how to care for the tattoos. Very detailed and insightful. Would book another sessions to continue my tattoo project!

Layla was fantastic. Super informative and went above and beyond with her design process. She spent so much time with discussing our design and putting together a super sentimental family tattoo. Layla was so thorough with her explanations throughout the process and spent the time to educate us on aftercare. Could not recommend her high enough.

Felt compelled to write a review for these guys after such a great experience. Layla did the most awesome forearm tattoo for me over the weekend. Her attention to detail, passion for her work and general all round friendliness made this tattoo so much more than just what it looks like. She's a superstar. Massive shout out to Lauren as well. Super helpful with organising, such a friendly greeting and she stayed and had a great chat with Layla and I while I was being drawn on. Such a legend. The tattoo itself is honestly incredible. The detail is out of this world and will always be a fond reminder of some of the best times of my life. Can't recommend these guys enough. Thank you so much x

The market comes alive on Friday and Saturday nights with fairy lights illuminating alleyways filled with global cuisine, pop-up bars, and live music. We absolutely loved it here! There were so many food options to choose from, and the atmosphere was incredible. The whole crowd felt included at each stage — everyone was singing, dancing, and laughing together. Such a fun experience, and we’ll definitely be back every time we’re in Brisbane!

Dinner at the North Shore Eat Street was fantastic. I was so glad I could get there by ferry. I was able to enjoy the beautiful sights of Brisbane before the ferry arrived at the terminal. The eatery had a wide selection of food stalls, offering everything from grills and fry-ups to bakeries, fresh seafood, and desserts. The prices were very reasonable. After my feast, I enjoyed walking around and taking in the surroundings. Different bands, musicians, and artists were performing on various stages, making it both fun and relaxing. Definitely worth a visit.

People go on about how great this place is. They are right. It's fantastic. Helping make it a great place is that the patrons just want a chill, good time. No drama, no idiots, just people having a great time. There are various security staff dotted around and each of them has been friendly and keeping an eye on things from a professional distance. The food prices are not at a discount rate but they are completely reasonable given the environment. Multiple areas of entertainment going on and there's absolutely something for almost everyone. I've been here a number of times and impressed on each visit. This place appears, from a customer's perspective to be well run. Huge admiration to all involved in making this a great venue. The caterers, the organisers, people running their businesses, the staff that are constantly cleaning up and with a smile on their face. Thank you all for giving up your own Friday nights and weekends to give us a great place to be.

Had a nice experience here! We took a pleasant ferry ride to get to Northshore, and waited for some time before the opening time (yeah we arrived too early). Paid $6 per person (cashless only!) and finally get in. I had a fun time making my own candle with my own preferred smell and colour! We had a good dinner and even a beautiful sunset when we get back! 🧡

The Eat Street Night Market is absolutely worth the entry fee — it’s well-organized, vibrant, and full of life! There’s food, drinks, and fun for everyone, making it a great spot for both adults and kids. The food selection is incredible, featuring cuisines from China, Japan, Hong Kong, the U.S., Greek, Turkey, Mexico, and more — the only challenge is saving enough room in your stomach! A truly impressive and unforgettable place to visit in Brisbane.
Annie L — Google review
It’s great to have a variety of different cuisine from many different cultures, live on stage entertainment during my visit. I suggest, best to make a phone call first and find out what is on and if it’s fee or free entry at the gate to ensure a “no dissatisfaction” experience. Only 4 stars from for the time being since I have only been there twice and was nothing like as per advertised on the specific on those two days in a row. Good ratings of 4 I believe are still reasonable because, the place is quite neat and tidy, toilet facilities are well maintained, accessible for everyone 👍 wheelchair ♿️ food was great and affordable prices, lively atmosphere, great view alongside the Brisbane river, lots of parking 🅿️ on site (fees applies) but not sure if it’s only on specific occasion. Plenty of dining tables to choose from to relax while enjoying a good meal while music is playing. There are many stalls on site and game stations are also there for children and many other activities to keep them occupied. This facility are made and built with sea containers but don’t worry, it’s spacey, you’re only entering on a sea containers surroundings. This place by the way is only open on specific times and days so as I mentioned above,⬆️ call first to ensure a happy experience. 👍 What is nearby is: Blueys world Brisbane, ferry terminal, parks, little beach and many more attractions nearby other than the riverside walkway, there’s also a cafe restaurant right near the ferry terminal, public toilets is also at nearby park.
Catherine V — Google review
A joyful place to enjoy a variety of food and beverages with family and friends on a Friday night. On your way back to the city, it's also fun to take a ferry ride along the river from the nearby ferry stop to enjoy the beautiful Brisbane night view.

St John's Cathedral in Brisbane, Australia is a must-see cultural heritage site with its Gothic Revival architecture and intricate wood carvings. This Anglican church, listed on the Queensland Heritage Register, boasts a unique stone vaulted ceiling, making it the only building of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Designed by architect John Loughborough Pearson and constructed over a century in stages, this cathedral was finally completed in 2009.
Went to a Hans Zimmer Candlelight concert here in September. What an excellent experience. Superb quartet (Chromatic) played some stunning music in an awesome venue.

We attended a Joe Hisaishi string quartet concert in the evening. The staff was very friendly, guiding us to our seats, directing us to the restrooms, and providing photo opportunities. The candlelit floor on the left side of the cathedral was romantic and elegant. A cellist provided a concise and humorous emceeing for the concert. Each piece was captivating and captivating, leaving the audience captivated and delighted. The cathedral, bathed in candlelight and music, was a sacred and beautiful sight. My family and children thoroughly enjoyed the concert.

We attended the candlelight fever event rings & dragons. It was a good event however it didn't start on time.. Took a good 10-20mins to get everyone seated. It was very warm and they only had 1 large fan at the very back of the venue but you couldn't feel it in the middle sections. Could of done with another fan in the middle section. They also only had water available on one side of the church. It would of made sense to have a water station also on both sides so people didn't interrupt the performance. The music performance was amazing. Nothing to fault and I would go again.

We went to Saint John's Cathedral, for a Candle Light Fever, Phil Collins tribute last month. The cathedral was absolutely outstanding. Such amazing architecture, it was really breathtaking. There was a lovely night time atmosphere too and the cathedral was enhanced by the candles. There is very handy parking underground just across the road if you dont manage to get street parking and toilets on site. We were advised to bring a cushion. The pews were obviously very hard, but they sloped backwards so it was hard to even re-position yourself. My husband and I are in our 40's and we found the seating very uncomfortable so if we were going again and spending more than an hour sitting, we would definitely pack a cushion. A wonderful experience and such a charming building.

The Commissariat Store Museum, a three-floor museum built by convicts in 1829, offers a captivating exploration of Brisbane's penal and colonial history. Additionally, it delves into the city's role during World War II, focusing on General Douglas MacArthur and the million U.S. military personnel who passed through Brisbane. The museum showcases extraordinary military artifacts and provides insight into the unique history of Brisbane over the centuries.
Such lovely and passionate staff who are dedicated to education. These are historians with passions for uncovering lost treasures, research and new ways of understanding Queensland’s past. It’s not just about the convicts but some fascinating artefacts from Boggo Road Gaol. Ask them about their published research and printed books.

Their passion for the site’s heritage made the experience both informative and enjoyable. The museum itself offers a fascinating glimpse into Queensland’s colonial past, with well-preserved artifacts and exhibits that highlight its rich history. Interesting building with personal guides provided to share history of Brisbane in the nineteenth century. Many of the displays were not working but the tour guide was well versed in local history. It would be interesting to have more stories about the history of women convicts given in the tours. Good variety of artifacts and technological instruments from the nineteenth century. Do not miss the image of the convict treadmill.and the convict cap.

The Commissariat store museum is one of the only 2 buildings left in Brisbane which were built by convicts when Brisbane (Moreton Bay) was a penal settlement. Built in 1829 it initially 2 floors and the 3rd (top floor) added later in 1923. The Royal Historical society of Queensland occupies the building now and has some great exhibitions about the convict past of the building and Brisbane city in general. Absolutely worth a visit if you are history buff or would love to learn more about early life in Brisbane city.

Excellent find for those interested in the historical side of Brisbane! Experience the thrill of walking across Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge with the Story Bridge Adventure Climb. In addition to the bridge walk, participants have the option to abseil 30 meters down one of the pylons for an added adrenaline rush.
We did the climb on June 29th, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The night view of the city was absolutely stunning—an unforgettable sight. Our guide, Sam, was fantastic. He and the entire team were professional, friendly, and made the whole climb feel easy, exciting, and informative. We were particularly impressed with the safety procedures and high-quality gear, which made everyone feel completely at ease throughout the experience. We also learned so much about the Bridge and Brisbane in general, which added real depth to the climb. Huge compliments to Sam and the whole team—great job! Highly recommended.

We did the Twilight Story Bridge Climb and it was unreal! Our guide, Jasper, was awesome. Super funny, easygoing, and packed with info. He answered all our questions and shared heaps of cool facts about the bridge and the city. The views at sunset were unreal and the whole experience was such a great way to see Brisbane from a new angle. Highly recommend! Would totally climb again (even just for the outfit! 😂)

I did the Story Bridge accessible climb last weekend and it was amazing! They have a custom built chair which climbs the stairs if you have accessibility/mobility challenges. I use a motorised wheelchair and often have difficulties with balance/positioning in other chairs, but the SBAC team made me feel so comfortable and helped set up the chair with as much support as possible. Throughout the whole process, everyone was super friendly and I felt very supported and in safe hands. Climbing the Story Bridge is something I never thought I'd be able to do so this was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for me - so surreal to see Brisbane from up the top of the bridge and to share this experience with my friends and family who also climbed with me was amazing. I loved every minute of the climb, and the ride up and down in the chair was smooth and comfortable. Thanks so much to the whole team for helping this be possible. They really showed what is possible when thinking outside the box.

Wow! What an experience we had. I took my 92 year old mum up on the bridge for a Twilight walk and our guide Issy was nothing but brilliant. We had such an amazing time and Issy made sure the whole group were comfortable and happy throughout the whole experience. We all sang ‘happy birthday’ to mum on top of the bridge and Issy made mum feel extra important and special for her birthday. Not only was Issy great, but all of the team working on the day were awesome and bent over backwards to make everybody comfortable and happy throughout - so thank you from the bottom of our hearts ♥️ You have an amazing crew and they all deserve credit for putting old time hospitality into all of our lives. Thanks team, keep up the awesome work xx

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-do, even for locals! I did the Story Bridge Climb with my mum (visiting from out of town) and Fau, and it was such a brilliant experience. The guides were great — funny, relaxed, and really knew their stuff. Mum was a bit nervous at first but ended up loving it once we reached the top. The sunset views over the river and city were unreal. I’ve lived in Brisbane for years, but seeing it from up there made me appreciate it all over again. Highly recommend it!

A great way to spend some time on a Saturday afternoon. Fortunately the weather cleared somewhat and Jasper the guide was excellent in all aspects of the climb. He emphasised safety and we felt confident with what was happening. He has a great knowledge of the history of the bridge and the geography of the surrounding areas. The actual climb up was about 23 minutes (from the safety gate to the selected peak) and we then had a good deal of time to take in the views and hear various stories and ask questions. Jasper took some good pictures of our group and we then descended at a comfortable pace. All up bridge time totalled about 56 minutes … the briefings etc take maybe another 45 minutes. A grand experience!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Suncorp Stadium — Always an Incredible Experience We’ve been to Suncorp Stadium many times over the past several years — everything from massive concerts to packed football games — and every single visit has been nothing short of spectacular. It’s one of those venues that never fails to impress, no matter the event. The atmosphere is always electric, with amazing acoustics for concerts and a brilliant field view from practically every seat. Even when the stadium is full, the layout makes it easy to navigate, and the crowd flow is surprisingly smooth. One thing we’ve consistently appreciated is how clean and well-maintained the entire venue is. From the seating areas to the food courts and restrooms, everything feels tidy and looked after, even during high-capacity events. The staff are friendly, organised, and efficient — whether it’s security, ushers, or people running the food and drink stands. You’re never left unsure of where to go or who to ask; there’s always someone happy to help. Overall, Suncorp Stadium is a standout venue that delivers every single time. If you’re going to a concert or catching a game, you can count on a smooth, enjoyable, and well-run experience. Five stars.

With plenty of seating, shade and open spaces, it is a great spot to relax, meet friends or people-watch. Queen Street Mall is not just a shopping street—it is a cultural and social hub. Nearby, you can easily access Brisbane City Hall, Treasury Casino, the riverfront and public transport. The mall is clean, safe and pedestrian-friendly, attracting both locals and tourists. Although many Australian cities have shopping precincts, Queen Street Mall is truly one of the best and most iconic. I have visited many shopping centres across Australia, but this one has the most atmosphere, variety and convenience. It perfectly combines retail, food, entertainment and city lifestyle in one unforgettable location. If you’re in Brisbane, Queen Street Mall is a must-visit destination.

Many shops like Uniqlo, apparels, Converse shoes, shoes, and luxury shopping like Channel etc. Good time to spend your afternoon weekend shopping. Stop by Mixue Ice Cream and Tea for a delicious Ice Cream Sundae as well for a well-deserved treat.

The iconic shopping street of Brisbane City. It has many luxury brands, restaurants, and many more. It has a variety of nice architecture, ranging from modern, to vintage European-style buildings, making it very aesthetic from the different combinations.

Such a beautiful shopping center. Open area walk around with so many shops around. Nice to just sit and enjoy seeing people walking around the area.

Its a really cool space with lots of shops and events. However not a good spot to go if you're disabled or struggle with accessiblilty. I am sure there must be elevators and ground floor bathrooms somewhere but they are poorly marked (if at all) and none of the shopkeepers I asked knew where any were. I had to go way across to the public library just to use the bathroom and I never did find a way to the many shops only available by stairs or escalators. If you have a disability please make time to check in advance where the elevators and bathrooms are. I was late to an event because of it and wish I had checked in advance or budgeted in more time to look. I just didn't anticipate they wouldn't be clearly marked. There are escalators for some places if you can use those but not all.

The State Library of Queensland is a five-level library offering stunning river views through its floor-to-ceiling windows. Located on the riverbank between the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art, it's a must-visit for culture enthusiasts and families exploring the precinct. Housing collections like the John Oxley Library and State Reference Library, as well as temporary exhibition spaces, this green building also features a writing center, cafe with Wi-Fi, and The Corner - an indoor play space for kids.
Great place to visit. Very modern, pretty quiet and peaceful to visit and spend time by reading books, using internets etc. also have places and things for kids to enjoy. One of well organised state libraries in Australia!

Although it’s a state library, it’s fully open to everyone, including international visitors, with no restrictions. The facilities are exceptionally clean and modern, and the layout is designed in a way that lets you enjoy the surrounding views while you read or relax. It’s a quiet, beautiful space worth stopping by even if you’re just passing through.

It’s my first time in library in years and all of the staff I have encountered have been so sweet, kind and welcoming! There are lots of spaces to work and it’s varying levels of quiet depending on the section you are in. There is a shop and cafe at the bottom too and it has nice outdoor surroundings. I saw some lizards round the back on the grass! Very cool. 100% Recommend!!

I absolutely love coming to this library. It’s a beautiful building, and the view of the city is spectacular. The staff are always incredibly helpful, and I couldn’t imagine a better place to write my thesis. The only downside is that many of the younger visitors (under 20) seem to miss the signs that say “Quiet Area” and talk as if they’re in a café. It’s frustrating—especially after travelling over 40 minutes just to study in silence.

We had our wedding at the State Library and it was the most spectacular experience. The events staff were phenomenal throughout, and made us feel so comfortable and excited for the day. They were on top of everything from the start, and the day went so smoothly. It was an absolutely stunning venue, and so special.

It is one of the most beautiful city libraries I have seen. I haven't decided yet whether studying environments with river views are beneficial or an obstacle to studying :) It is a 5-storey building. There are two large Auditoriums. It's a great environment with computers available for free use. In The Edge section, there are facilities such as free 3D printers, a music recording room and an innovation laboratory. The best part was being able to use this library for free without registering.

Holds great art exhibitions, and an amazing war museum downstairs too! Nice cafe and gift shop with interesting books. Can’t fault the parking directly downstairs too under the building. A nice surprise located in between the 2 art galleries. Worth a look.

Fort Lytton National Park is a historical site featuring a 19th-century fort and surrounding park, offering guided tours and history-oriented shows. The coastal fortification, built in 1881, served as Brisbane's first line of defense until the 1930s and is considered the birthplace of Queensland's military history. Visitors can explore rooms, tunnels, passages, cannons, grassy knolls, and military equipment while learning about the area's colonial defense.
Unknown Brisbane gem! Have lived in Brisbane most of my life and had never heard of Fort Lytton. Great for a visit, extensive fortifications, history, small but dense museum or two, views of the river, friendly and enthusiastic guides / volunteers and all free (donations welcome). Open Sundays at 10am as of February 2025.

Nikon D750 - 24-70mm & 70mm to 300mm This is the place to go. Open Sundays from 10am to 5pm and run exclusively by elderly volunteers, this is TRUELY one of Brisbane's, if not Queensland's hidden gems. Such an incredible place, landscape and snapshot of the history of Brisbane. If you are free on a sunday, pop down for a guided tour or explore the place as a public visitor. Just take a look at some of the photos I was able to take, and that's not even it. Perfect place to take kids, they even have a small restaurant serving refreshments.

Old Government House is a historic 1860s governor's mansion in Brisbane, now transformed into a museum and art gallery. The house features the William Robinson Gallery, showcasing an impressive collection of the renowned Australian artist's works including paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and ceramics. Visitors can also enjoy rotating exhibitions of modern and contemporary art by Australian artists. The property offers free podcasts and one-hour guided tours that must be booked in advance to explore its lavish interiors restored in 2009.

The staff here are all very friendly. The first time I visited, I missed the tour time, but the guard kindly explained the schedule to me. Amazingly, he still remembered me a few days later, which made me really happy! He also speaks great Chinese—thank you! A big thank you to Stephen for patiently guiding me through the tour. English is not my native language, but Stephen was patient and made the tour interesting. I really appreciate it! The glass from Queen Victoria, transported from the UK, was truly impressive. This experience will always be a cherished memory for me.

Lucked out & arrived just in time for a tour. By the super enthusiastic & very knowledgeable house historian Katie. Was a real treat. The front of house team were fantastic also. Definitely worth spending some time here (esp on tour) even if your time in Brisbane is limited. Entry + tour both free! I cannot believe the quality and quality of free museums across Queensland generally.

Full of different artworks and paintings, it is quite a nice, but also quick walk through. It is located within QUT, and has a little cafe attached, so it could definitely be a place to go with art-enthusiasts or culture seekers. For the general public, it’s probably somewhere you may go once, just to see what it is like, but never again. I personally really liked the artworks with the cows. I thought they were pretty cute, and I liked how there was an ongoing theme.

Now serving as a museum and café, this historic building was once Queensland’s original seat of government. Thanks to an extensive restoration project, it’s hard to believe the place is over 160 years old, it looks almost brand new. A beautifully preserved piece of history, seamlessly blending the past with the present.
Neurostella — Google review
Did the Brisbane open House and did a full tour of this building with the curator Katie. How fabulous is this lady she knows the full history and almost every brick in this building bringing the building to life. Great building thank goodness we saved it from demolition. Thank you Brisbane open house for the opportunity.
Ludmilla S — Google review
Beautiful and lovely house, especially from the outside. The decor and design and the general architecture is amazing. The inside is a little barren and bare but there's enough information to tell you what each room used to be for. The carpets and lighting especially in the entrance hallway are amazing. The information about the formation and flags of Queensland are brilliant. Friendly volunteer at the front desk although two random members of security tried to kick me out before realising that the building actually was open that day so they don't seem to coordinate very well. Some areas seemed to be closed off.
Jameel S — Google review
I was fortunate enough to attend a concert here last night and fell in love with this piece of Queensland heritage. Someone cleary takes a lot of pride in caring for it and presenting the historical items while providing a majestic entertainment space for events. There are quite a number of historical displays that are well worth a look (the building is open to the public during the day), especially in the old state room, though thankfully the history hasn't been whitewashed either. Alongside the beautifully painted ornamental screen and old documents in the state room there is information on the running of the house, the servants and supplies: the nitty-gritty behind the dignified front and politic gravitas. Across the courtyard the storerooms and trade entrance have been preserved, but rather usefully now double as the toilets as well. This place shines at night, and if you were considering a classy function this would be a distinguished atmosphere. The chandelier is brilliant, and the old woodwork glows in the soft lighting. For an event of up to about a hundred people (though I imagine you could squeeze in more if you wished) old government house would be small enough to be intimate, but spacious and well apportioned enough to allow for fluid event organisation. The acoustics are resonant and flattering for live music. Truly a beautiful place. I feel priveleged to have been able to see it at night.

Always a great day/night out with family or friends. We caught the citycat which had frequent stops. There's several food options (we had pizza and seafood, yum) great cocktails, even on busy days the wait time isn't too long. There's a pirate ship to keep the kids entertained and live music on the weekend, we love it here!

I visited Howard Smith Wharves on a rainy winter night, and the atmosphere was magical. The mild chill in the air, combined with the soft drizzle, made the lights on the Story Bridge and Brisbane’s towering skyscrapers even more captivating. The reflections on the wet ground added a romantic touch to the whole experience. Despite the weather, the area was lively yet peaceful — a perfect spot for a night stroll or a quiet drink by the river. It’s a must-visit location in the heart of Brisbane, especially if you enjoy scenic views and city lights with a unique riverside vibe.

Boggo Road Gaol, once a notorious 19th-century prison known for its harsh conditions and infamous inmates, is now a captivating heritage site in Queensland. The gaol offers tours led by former guards and inmates, providing an insightful look into Australia's penal history. With stories of notorious prisoners like Slim Halliday and Patrick Kenniff, the gaol's walls are filled with secrets and intrigue. Visitors can even opt for the Boggo Road Ghost Tour for an extra thrill.
Booked and went on the ghost tour last night it was an amazing journey back in time. Great history, story telling and the atmosphere of the gaol really adds to it. Only been once before during the day for a school history excursion and both times I've had some kind of experience. If your a local or a tourist you'll really enjoy this gaol. Highly recommended A+++

Firstly, Heather, our tour guide were great at handling COVID19. She was ready to check-in everyone as we arrive. Check-in was really smooth and easy. It a great place to visit and learn about the history behind the gaol. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The stories from our guide and graffiti on the walls bring us into the stories. We took our kids there to let them know how old the facilities were during the old days. Room for improvement: It will be better to include more areas like their kitchen, workshops, laundry, gaol guillotine and hanging area. This will take you to 5 stars ratings.

The history tour was educational, informative and interesting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and professional. Love the stories about the famous escapologist and the black cat. Recommended to anyone for this 90 minutes tour, tourists or local residents, to learn a slice of Brisbane jail history. You should also go to St Helena Island if you are particularly interested in jails.

Very interesting historical site. The ghost tour was cool but went on too long I think. I would suggest cutting it back to 1.5 hours at the most as it keeps up the pace and audience interest. 2 hours is a long time to spend on your feet. Saw cell blocks D & E, heard a couple of stories but no ghosts.
Ellie W — Google review
We did the gaol tour today, was good, but it would have been so much better if other parts of the gaol were included. We saw two cell blocks and the recreational yard. I would have loved the tour to include the kitchens, governors office, workshops, and maybe the infirmary. Not sure it was worth the $60 for the two of us.

I happened to stop by this museum, and to my surprise, it was also free of charge🆓✨ Australia is truly generous in this way🇦🇺 The exhibits were so impressive — from taxidermy of koalas and kangaroos to a massive whale model hanging from the ceiling! 🐨🦘🐋 With so many life-sized displays, it really gave me a sense of the scale of nature. It was an exciting moment of unexpected discovery, and I love how travel brings these little surprises along the way🌿 What’s more, right in front of South Brisbane Station you’ll find a vibrant hub of art and culture. Art galleries, museums, musical theaters, and libraries line the area, making it feel like the city’s cultural heart. The moment you step out of the station, you’re greeted with a creative and inspiring atmosphere✨

The museum facilities were very good. Everything was Wheelchair accessible. The exhibit was top-notch. They limited how many people could get through at one time, which greatly enhanced the experience. We had a very good time. If you enjoy ancient history, ancient Egypt, pharaohs and mummies, then you’ll really enjoy this.

The Queensland Museum showcases fossils and specimens that help us understand how temperatures in prehistoric times differed from today — a stark reminder of the serious impact of rising temperatures on nature. On the third floor, there are displays of Australian animals and insects, offering a closer look at their fascinating features. The most fun part was spotting stick insects in the terrariums, marveling at how cleverly these insects protect themselves — it’s amazing to see nature’s survival instincts up close!

A very good place to view the entire Brisbane city. Super view from the watch tower. It is recommended to bring food on your own or there is a restaurant which has been and food items but costly. The parking looks free. But I need to check again. Rest everything is good. Nice place to relax. I went at night and the view was amazing. Feels like sitting in an aircraft and flying too close on top of a metropolitan city. I couldn't identify any locations on my first visit. But I liked it a lot. Using good binoculars are highly recommended on locations like this. Here I'm uploading some views from here during the night.

Great green space to watch the world go by, spend time with the family or friends heaps of tables and bbq available. Watch the river, joggers or dogs. Great coffee available with a few snacks and ice cream on a hot day. Beautiful rose gardens and heaps of shady trees. Love this park, we go at least once a week but gets a bit windy down near the river in winter so bring a jacket or blanket.

My family and I purposely came to New Farm Park on our last day of Brisbane trip in mid September, hoping to see jacaranda even though the season usually starts in October. New Farm Park is one of Brisbane’s most beautiful and popular green spaces, loved by both locals and visitors alike. Set along the Brisbane River, the park offers wide open lawns, lush gardens, and large shaded trees that make it ideal for picnics, family gatherings, or simply relaxing outdoors. During spring, the park becomes absolutely magical as the Jacaranda trees burst into full bloom, painting the entire park in vibrant shades of purple. The view is breathtaking—perfect for photos, leisurely walks, or simply sitting under the blossoms enjoying the gentle fall of petals. The park also features barbecue areas, playgrounds, and riverside paths, and it’s conveniently located near the Brisbane Powerhouse, where you can grab a coffee or meal after your visit. Overall, New Farm Park is a must-visit spot in Brisbane—especially in spring when the Jacarandas are in bloom. Located in a waterside complex, the Queensland Maritime Museum offers visitors the chance to explore historic vessels and view photographs, artifacts, and models. One of its main attractions is the river class frigate HMAS Diamantina, which was built in Maryborough and launched in 1944. Visitors can tour the warship's engine room, crew rooms, galleys, showers, engineers' rooms, and surgeons' rooms.
This museum is one of the most interesting I’ve ever visited. Having the chance to step inside, see, and even touch the Diamantina, and it was truly exciting. The entire museum is full with information that can easily spark the interest of anyone—even someone like me who ended up there more or less by chance. If you’re in Brisbane, I highly recommend stopping by! You won’t regret it!

I had the absolute pleasure along with fellow members from the Carseldine Probus Club of visiting the Queensland Maritime Museum at 412 Stanley St,South Brisbane QLD 4101 Keith Boulton OAM, who is QMM Historical Walk Convener, conducts Historical Walks through the Maritime Museum and along the Brisbane River and through areas of South Bank Parklands. Keith, along with Robyn, who is a long-time volunteer, took us for a very relaxing and informative 2-hour walk explaining in detail the history of the ever changing face the Brisbane River and South Brisbane It was wonderful as Keith and Robyn took us back in time of what it was like work on Shore with the railway running in the area where the Maritime Museum is located. There was a lot of production from several flour mills that were in South Brisbane. Coal was brought by rail from areas like Ipswich, ensuring that everyone was gainfully employed. The Brisbane River was busy with shipping, taking produce to various areas along the coastline of Queensland and beyond. Our walk also took us into the South Bank Parklands, whereas we know Expo 88 was enjoyed by millions of people attending this game-changing event. It definitely put Brisbane and Queensland on the map. After the walk was completed, we then had the opportunity to board the HMAS Diamantina, a warship that is located in the dry dock in the Maritime Museum along with the lugger Penguin this vessel is also located in the same location. You definitely need time to enjoy going through HMAS Diamantina. A lot of budding sailors would get a first-time look at what people had to live with during World War 2 and beyond. A lot of time and effort has been carried out by dedicated volunteers to maintain this ship for visitors to enjoy their time walking everywhere on this warship. Another wonderful highlight is looking at Jessica Watson's yacht, the Pink Lady, Jessica is renowned for performing a major solo event over 16 years ago. The Queensland Maritime Museum is opened most days of the week except Monday and Tuesdays, and visiting hours are between 10.00 am. and 4.15 pm. I would highly recommend anyone wanting something to do when visiting South Brisbane spend time at the Queensland Maritime Museum and taking advantage of going on a historic walk with Keith Boulton or one of the dedicated volunteers.

Awesome museum ran by volunteers without government funding. We were late arriving but Peter gave us an insightful tour of HMAS Diamantina - a really nice chap. If you're in Brisbane be sure to visit and help support the great work that they're doing!
Tim J — Google review
Good way to spend a few hours, exploring the Diamantia is justification for the ticket on its own and there is far more to see.

The staff were very warm and hospitable, introducing the museum to visitors and even offering free postcards as souvenirs. Many of the small items on sale were also rich in cultural significance. Although I did not have time to enter the museum on this occasion, the place left a deep impression on me. Next time I come to Brisbane, I will definitely make sure to visit.

Enjoyable visit with knowledgeable volunteers. Very much enjoyed the walk through of the Diamantina, it would have been an amazing ship to work on.

Nice museum to see a rare River class frigate and the dry dock steam machinery. One star less for closing the dry dock access.
Libor N — Google review
Marvellous experience! We were guided around by Peter Scott who was very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate! Definitely recommend doing the Diamantina first and working your way back as it gets very hot in the afternoon (40 degrees) being a giant metal ship. Wouldn't recommend for kids as it's not very interactive but we spent a good 3hrs there and might even go there again!

The Nepalese pagoda, a heritage site from the '88 World Expo, is a beautiful example of Nepalese architecture, standing tall in the midst of a tropical rainforest grove. It's an ideal place to relax and connect with nature, and is a perfect way to start your day in Brisbane.
The Nepalese Peace Pagoda in Brisbane is a serene and culturally rich landmark nestled within the South Bank Parklands. Originally constructed for Expo ’88, it stands as the only international exhibit from that event still in place, serving as a lasting symbol of peace and cultural exchange. Architectural and Cultural Significance Designed by German architect Jochen Reier, the pagoda was built using 80 tonnes of hand-carved Nepalese timber, crafted by over 160 Nepalese families over two years. The structure showcases intricate carvings and architectural elements reminiscent of the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal. Notably, it features a Peace Bell, a Buddhist stupa, and inscriptions in multiple languages, including Sanskrit prayer chants . Visitor Experience Situated in a lush rainforest grove, the pagoda offers a tranquil retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle. Visitors often describe the site as peaceful and beautiful, with some noting its stunning appearance at night. It’s a popular spot for photography, meditation, and quiet reflection. The pagoda is open 24 hours a day, allowing for flexible visits . Accessibility and Location The Nepalese Peace Pagoda is located along Clem Jones Promenade in South Brisbane, easily accessible via public transport and within walking distance from the South Bank CityCat terminal. Its placement amidst the parklands makes it a convenient stop for those exploring the area. Conclusion Whether you’re seeking a moment of peace, an appreciation of intricate craftsmanship, or a unique cultural experience, the Nepalese Peace Pagoda offers all of this and more. It’s a testament to Brisbane’s commitment to cultural diversity and international friendship.

The Pagoda is an easily missed attraction along Southbank, my first few times visiting I never knew of it's existence until one time we were venturing through the gardens and spotted it. 100% worth the look especially during the day when the inside is opened up. Such a cool design and tucked away hangout spot.

The Nepalese Pagoda at South Bank is a small yet stunning attraction. This intricately designed temple showcases beautiful traditional Nepalese art and craftsmanship. You can admire the detailed carvings on the wooden structure, ring the large bell at the front, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance by the small pool located at the back. It’s a serene and culturally rich spot, perfect for a quiet stroll or to take some lovely photos.Free entry no ticket required

Such a beautiful building along the gorgeous Southbank walk. So great having the signage next to the pagoda to understand the history of its placement and im so glad this was bought and donated back to Brisbane City for everyone to enjoy! The carvings are so detailed and intricate and it's a very peaceful place to just sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

It is a stunning and unique piece of art that truly represents peace, Nepali art, history, and religious standpoint featuring traditional style and craftsmanship. Surrounded by trees and guarded by a peace bell, it's a smaller identical of the famous temple in Kathmandu, called "Pashupatinath Temple ". It's a representation of the hindu and Buddhism iconography. Plenty of seating spots to sit on and to enjoy the whole scenery. Should make your list.

I've been going here for at least the last 20 years, and yes, it is starting to show signs of needing repair, it is very hot inside on our Summer days and it might not be as architecturally brilliant as say, St John's, but it has a great heart and great people. That's what makes a good cathedral. It is steeped in Brisbane's history and it's great to take a tour and learn a bit about its nooks and crannies. The choir is inspiring at the moment. Go have a look. Go inside. Don't be shy.

Beautiful shopping mall with great architecture. Beautiful decor during the Christmas period. Brisbane Arcade is Brisbane’s oldest shopping arcade. Believed to have been under construction in 1923 with the first store openings in 1924, the arcade’s history spans a century.

It’s one of the most classic and impressive hidden gem I’ve ever discovered in Brisbane CBD. Despite most of the shops being jewellers, boutiques, and some clothing stores in the gallery shopping, the elaborate and classic interior design amazes me a lot. In addition, there are some soft benches where you can sit and rest. There are also a cafe (Room with Roses) on the balcony level, Espresso Bar on the ground floor, and Keri Craig Emporium Coffee Lounge with various boutiques in the basement. To top it off, this place is extraordinary, extravagant, and an absolute banger.

The Brisbane Arcade is located at 160 Queen St,Brisbane City QLD 4000. Having just celebrated 100 years with a special public celebration held on the 19th of April 2024, this is definitely one area of Brisbane worth a special mention 😀 It was fantastic to see the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner along with other dignitries & the general public sharing some special birthday cake 🎂 🍰& other live entertainment on the day 😀 What a wonderful nostalgic part of the Brisbane CBD to visit this multi-level shopping precinct & look at purchasing a piece of jewellery or buying a dress for a wedding or something to buy for other special occasions. The Brisbane Arcade has the historic ROOM with ROSES 🌹 located on the Gallery Level, which specialises in high tea & specialty menus. This place caters to corporate & at home functions, a bit of everything! My wife & I had the absolute pleasure of enjoying the Belgium Waffles, loaded with banana, strawberries & came with a base of dark chocolate 🍫 Another great addition was the ice cream on the side 😋 😀 Another place to enjoy the excellent quality of customer service is Keri Craig Emporium on the lower level of the Brisbane Arcade. What a stunning place to enjoy the world of fashion, a fantastic range of Homewares & the highly recommended Coffee Lounge, which is known for its freshly made Prawn & Crab sandwiches. Keri Craig Emporium also caters to their high tea, which I recommend you book in advance. After visiting this heritage listed, Brisbane Arcade, I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Brisbane take the time to share the experience of a piece of nostalgic history of the Brisbane City landscape.

Kangaroo Point never disappoints. The views from the cliffs are absolutely stunning — a perfect blend of city skyline, river serenity, and natural beauty. Whether you're there for a morning jog, sunset walk, or a quiet moment of reflection, the atmosphere is peaceful and inspiring. A must-visit spot in Brisbane for both locals and visitors. Always clean, safe, and well-maintained. It's truly one of the city’s gems!

Beautiful spot for a stroll & picnic. Plenty of bench seats along the way, but we couldn't find tables. No matter, we enjoyed our lunch anyway! We found it difficult to access with our elderly friend, having to walk a loooooong way before we could find a ramp to walk up, but she made it. I'm sure there must be better access points, but we didn't have time to drive around & find out! Fabulous views across the river, looking at the city.

One of the best spots in Brisbane to relax, walk, or just take in the city. The views across the river to the CBD are absolutely stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset when the light hits the skyline. It’s also a really versatile area — you’ll see people rock climbing, jogging, cycling, or simply enjoying the outdoors. At night the cliffs are beautifully lit and feel safe to stroll around. Parking can be a little limited during busy times, and it’s a popular spot on weekends, but it’s worth it for the atmosphere and the view. Overall, a must-visit whether you’re a local or just visiting Brisbane🫶🏾

Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park is one of the most stunning and unique places in Brisbane. Located right beside the Brisbane River, this park offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline, Story Bridge and the water. I have visited many riverfront areas in Australia, but the view from this park is easily the best—especially during sunset and at night when the city lights up. The walking path along the river is clean, wide and perfect for jogging, cycling or a relaxing stroll. There are plenty of benches, picnic tables and BBQ areas, making it a great spot to hang out with friends or enjoy a quiet moment. The famous red steel human sculptures add an artistic touch and make the walk even more memorable. One thing I loved is how peaceful yet lively the park feels. You’ll see locals exercising, tourists taking photos and even people rock climbing on the cliffs. The combination of nature, river, city views and activities makes this park truly special. Whether you come in the morning for fresh air or in the evening for the most beautiful sunset in Brisbane, Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park is absolutely a must-visit. If you want the best skyline view in the city, this is the place to go.

Old Windmill Observatory, also known as The Tower Mill, is a historic 1820s tower mill located in a tranquil park setting. It is the oldest convict-built structure in Queensland and holds significant historical value. The site features the Planetarium with a 12.5m Cosmic Skydome, an observatory housing advanced telescopes, and engaging displays including moon landings and space expeditions.
It’s great that this heritage place has been retained. It only takes a few minutes to look at and unfortunately it’s not possible to go up the stairs of the windmill. However, it’s still interesting. It’s even more interesting if you can find out a bit about the history. I did a tour as part of the annual Brisbane Open House. The tour was long (over an hour) and looked at several sites nearby as well as this one. Because of BOH there was also some interesting information signs about the reservoirs and their history. I’d recommend this or similar tours for those interested in history.
Sattie — Google review
Visited Brisbane's oldest building, the Tower Mill, and half expected Doc Brown to pop out shouting, "Great Scott!" Built in the 1820s by convicts, it's seen more transformations than a superhero—grain grinder, signal station, timekeeper, and even a TV broadcast site. Talk about a multitasker! While you can't climb inside, the exterior offers a picturesque backdrop, especially with the jacarandas in bloom. A quick visit, but a delightful detour into history.

Not much to see other than an old building. Nothing special but if you jave time to kill, its a quick 15 mins walk to see this building.

The old windmill in Brisbane is a captivating piece of history, standing tall with its rustic charm. The weathered blades and sturdy structure transport visitors to a bygone era, offering a unique glimpse into Brisbane’s past. The panoramic views from the windmill provide a picturesque backdrop of the cityscape, making it a must-visit landmark for history enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil escape within the urban landscape.
Rafael N — Google review
I didn't find it open on either of the 2 days I visited but it is a smart looking building externally, set in well kept grounds

Definitely worth a visit during the open house weekend. Absolutely not for anyone with a mobility issue though, as the stairs are narrow and steep and this can be fairly difficult. This was visited during Brisbane Open House. Once you get to the top you have great views of the city and beyond.
Brisbane R — Google review
An interesting feature of the Brisbane city. The park below now houses quite a few homeless. The gardens have a water feature and are well kept. Lots of art installations and a small stone lookout gives nice sunset views. The whole area is hilly and not scooter or wheelchair friendly. At the top of the hill at the windmill there are restaurants and historical information signage.

Beenleigh Historical Village & Museum is a living-history museum located just off the motorway. It features 20 preserved buildings with artifacts, including a school and church. The museum offers various activities for kids and those interested in history, such as pony rides, petting zoos, and demonstrations throughout the day. Visitors can also enjoy a coffee shop/cafe on-site. The volunteers at the museum are welcoming and take great care of the place.
Fantastic place to visit. So much to see. Bob the printer is awesome. The workshop with old forestry saws - excellent. Forgot your name sorry. The school house was very interesting and informative I must say. Do many volunteers, too many to mention, all doing a top job of keeping everyone entertained and educated!
Trina M — Google review
Cute, interesting museum the whole family enjoyed. Was great to be able to step into the buildings and get a feel for life back then. Lot's of information and a great printing press presentation. We ate in the cafe which was reasonably priced and had a nice outdoor seating area. All the workers and volunteers were friendly and helpful.
Ducky A — Google review
This is such a lovely spot, for a picnic, to enjoy the cafe, to admire the art gallery and of course - learn about the history of the area. The volunteers have taken SUCH great care in caring for this beautiful place. The volunteers were incredibly helpful and welcoming, we’ll be back here and we’ll bring others to enjoy!

Old houses, schoolroom, post office and other buildings, set up and on display showing what they would’ve been like years ago. There is a 55 yr old firetruck that kids can sit on as part of a presentation (there is no cabin on the old trucks) as well as younger children being able to wear little fire jackets and hold the fire hose. There is a decent car park and more space for parking on the street too. The schoolroom presentation was very interesting too, with slates, inkwells, canes and other explanations of how school was different to today.
Sarah — Google review
Just off the motorway at Beenleigh it’s tucked in opposite Mitre 10. It cost $4 a person and then extra for jumping castle, pony rides or petting zoo. There was heaps to see and do for the kids or those who are historically inclined. They have a variety of demos to enjoy throughout the day which are well run by the staff. There’s also a coffee shop / cafe available. The images will give you a feel for what your money gets you but for $16 for a family of 4 it was a great morning and early arvo out. Not much parking so you have to park on the road. Jumping castle is small but there’s heaps of animals in the small petting zoo area.

Brisbane City Hall Clock Tower is a must-see landmark in the heart of Brisbane, offering panoramic views of the city from its 92m high vantage point. Visitors can take a vintage cage lift to reach the top and enjoy 360-degree views of the city below. The tower also provides insight into the inner workings of its giant clock face and vintage mechanisms.
This was really great to see. The clock tower tour was free and there is a lift inside the tower itself which takes you up. There was a lady (I didn't get her name but will say when I visited in November 2024 but) who was the most amazing and knowledgeable tour guide. Separately, the are other interesting exhibits to view in the town hall, so it will definitely fill your time if you want an insight to the city. I was only in Brisbane for the day from Sydney where I was based as a springboard around Australia for 4 weeks, but this was definitely a great place to visit. I hope to travel back to Australia, but next time would like to spend more time in Brisbane. Amazing place 5⭐
C J — Google review
Absolutely worth a 5-star rating! The staff are incredibly friendly and provide detailed explanations as well as free locker storage. Visiting the clock tower requires a reservation due to the limited number of visitors allowed, but on weekdays, it’s usually easy to book. Taking the historic elevator to the top is an experience not to be missed!
Cooper — Google review
Don’t miss out on this beautiful clock tower! Take the 95-year-old lift to the top for a breathtaking view. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will make your visit even more enjoyable. Booking is easy online, and the tour happens every 15 minutes. Afterward, you can explore the museum. If you’re in the city, don’t skip this experience!
Y T — Google review
Well worth booking a tour for! It goes by quite quickly (each tour is 15 mins) but the view of the city is lovely and the explanations for how the elevator and clock work we quite interesting. This is the biggest analogue clock in Australia and one of the oldest still-working manual elevators.
Sarah — Google review
We took two groups of adults with disabilities as part of an outing program. The staff whilst checking in for the tour was exceptional, she noticed someone was hesitant to join, and she brought over a visual informative sheet to explain and he joined right away! The guide we had was lovely and she explained the history beautifully and answered some questions and comments they had. All participants and staff were very appreciative of the city hall staff and we loved our tours! Highly recommend.
Amelia V — Google review
It was a cool experience! I wasn’t aware that the clock has four sides and that it’s automatic! You must book a free ticket online. Also, thanks to Nick for helping me get in—I had remembered my schedule wrong (my bad).

Providing fantastic views of Brisbane city. The clocktower tour is a must do when visiting, our tour guide was very helpful and had a wealth of knowledge. I highly recommend this 15 minute quick tour of the iconic clock 😊

Post Office Square in Brisbane is a tranquil urban oasis, featuring lush lawns, shaded seating areas, and a monument honoring military leader Sir William Glasgow. The park offers a serene retreat from the city's hustle and bustle, making it an ideal spot for relaxation or a quick lunch break. Visitors can enjoy open lawns with views of surrounding skyscrapers and find plenty of seating to savor their meals or simply unwind amidst the greenery.
It’s like a Central Park of Brisbane and can directly come here through the passage linked to Central Station or from Queen Street Mall. The scenery of the downtown is very magnificent, the design of the park is also unique and meaningful, and there are some memorial statues you can take a picture of.

Post Office Square in Brisbane is an urban oasis, offering a serene retreat amid the city's hustle and bustle. The meticulously landscaped gardens and shaded seating areas create a peaceful environment for relaxation or a quick lunch break. The square's central location makes it easily accessible, providing a convenient escape for nearby office workers and visitors. However, limited seating space during busy periods can be a drawback. Overall, Post Office Square stands as a well-designed green space that enhances the cityscape, providing a welcome respite for those seeking a moment of tranquility in the heart of Brisbane.

Situated in the picturesque Southbank precinct, the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) showcase a diverse range of art from local, national, and international artists. These two distinct yet complementary galleries offer an iconic display of various art forms, featuring unique and inspiring exhibitions from around the world. Established in 1895, QAG found its permanent home in 1982 as part of the Queensland Cultural Center.
Really great gallery with nicely detailed descriptions and information about the artists and artwork. The exhibition is a nice blend of different styles and media, from diverse artists from different periods. The arrangement of the works makes it especially intriguing, since no style or period overstays its welcome. It's not room over room with old paintings or statues, but a nice mix that always surprises, whenever you turn a corner.
Bo L — Google review
Despite the simple name, this isn’t just a typical gallery with a few pieces hung on the wall. I actually found this place more compelling than GoMA in terms of artistic depth. It’s filled with works that invite you to slow down and spend real time with them. Thoughtfully curated and visually rich—well worth a visit if you appreciate fine art.
Neurostella — Google review
I visited the Art Gallery and was amazed by how beautiful both the works and the space were – and the best part is that it was all free of charge✨ It truly felt like a luxurious experience. For lunch, I went to the recommended QAG Cafe and tried their pumpkin quiche, which was absolutely delicious and unlike anything I had tasted before. The staff were very kind and welcoming, making it a very comfortable and relaxing meal🍽️ While having lunch, various birds came by to play, adding a charming touch to the atmosphere. I also couldn’t resist buying lots of cute souvenirs, which made the day feel even more special😊 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely a wonderful place I would love to visit again!

It was a truly beautiful space with its impressive collection and exhibitions. The gallery shops offer art related items, books, cups, loose leaf tea, and hand cream. This place is right next to the museum and it's located in the middle of the city which makes it very convenient to visit!

I'm from New Caledonia and basically I'm not too much art gallery or museum. But this gallery is really worth doing because there are a lot of different things to see and it's very interesting. There is also the history of my country in relation to Australia which interested me enormously that many things I did not know.

Selection:There are different kinds of arts presented in the gallery. It's a great fun to watch. Service: the gallery offers free tour for me to understand more about the artworks. that is great! Value: it's completely free to visit and that you should go! It worth it!

Beautiful art museum with large collection of paintings, sculptures, pottery, and many more from Australia and many other cultures. I was very surprised by how many pieces of artwork was on display and even more about the fact that there was no admission fee for such a large museum! Soleil Pool Bar, located at Rydges South Bank, is a premier cocktail bar known for its bespoke cocktails and delicious bites enjoyed in a stylish poolside setting. It's a popular spot for sophisticated soirees, private parties, and iconic Brisbane events. The outdoor event space features regular live acoustic music and DJs to keep the vibes up. Despite being overshadowed by other hotel openings in the area, Soleil has become a major draw for both locals and visitors.
I recently held my 40th Birthday here. The whole process to organise the event was .. FAULTLESS .. From my very first enquiry with Amber, to the event day was stress-free. The actual day of the event was brilliant. Steve and Sergio were outstanding. The platters were delicious. The venue itself was beautiful and fun. Everyone had a great time and couldn't have raved more about this function .... THANK YOU!!!! Thank you so much for the best possible birthday celebration that I could have asked for!

Not a bad bar . Service seemed good . Cocktails were nice , French martini was really good and the Espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had . At $22 each that’s probably standard for the area . Food was nothing special unfortunately . Atmosphere was good . I imagine when hot the pool use would be great . We visited of an evening so it was definitely too cool for the pool . I loved the led screen above the bar area . You can order from your seat as they have the QR code on the tables . They don’t cater for dietary requirements well . If you drive there is plenty of paid parking around. But it’s close to public transport

Had a private party here. Food platters were terrible. We were charged for what was supposed to be a complimentary valet parking space. DJ refused music requests even though event staff told us we could request songs. Service staff was a mixed bag, some attentive some terrible. Nestled in the charming suburb of Paddington, Government House, also affectionately known as Fernberg, is a treasure trove of Australian history. Built in 1865 and expanded over the years, this stunning architectural gem serves as a ceremonial hub where Prime Ministers are sworn into office and hosts over 100 events annually. Visitors can immerse themselves in Queensland's rich heritage while enjoying the beautifully landscaped grounds adorned with festive decorations during the holiday season.
Government House is located at 168 Fernberg Road,Paddington QLD 4064. This unique place was built in 1865. It has, over the years, had extra extensions added, the first being in 1890 & then again in 1937. I, along with 32 members from the Carseldine Probus Club, had the absolute pleasure of visiting this historic area of Brisbane yesterday, the 16th of October 2024. Pre bookings are required to be able to enjoy the visit to Government House. The volunteer staff who conduct the guided tours carry out their duties in a diligent manner. I was most impressed by the attention to detail. One person in particular Judy had excellent knowledge & information on the history of this magnificent establishment. The 45 staff employed to work at Government House in various roles ensure that everything runs like clock work 👌 Government House is a place where the general public can enjoy & take in the expansive surroundings & views of the Brisbane CBD. The gardens are beautifully presented, with some of the best roses & assorted plants available. There are some of the best kept, carefully manicured lawns in & around Government House. The staff responsible for maintaining the grounds do a wonderful job 👏 👍 The current Governor of Queensland, Dr Jeanette Young, who has been in her role for 3 years has made sure that your time spent viewing the gardens or enjoying a guided tour throughout various parts of this establishment is an enjoyable experience 😀 Making the time to schedule a visit Government House is definitely something that you should put on your bucket list!

We had a wonderful and informative visit! Rob was very knowledgeable on the history of the gov house. He's entertaining, kind, and been taking care of the whole group. There were about 16 of us in the group. We felt pleasantly surprised from the moment we entered via the gate, when we were greeted by Paul the driver (very nice uniform, Paul!) who is multi-lingual and we had a lovely chat. He was super helpful and cheeky LOL! We started off with tea and coffee with a small biscuit inside the gov house, and her Excellency came out to greet us wow! It was a once in a lifetime experience! We finished off the visit in front of her Rolls Royce. Beautiful house full of history. Garden is gigantic, although due to the rain we missed out and could only had a glimpse of it from afar. It's still a wonderful experience though! Highly recommended!

We visited Government House on Wednesday morning ( Nov 29, 2023). Christmas is coming, and the yard is decorated with some pretty festive items. It’s a great place to learn about the history of Queensland. I used to visit Old Government House at QUT Gardens Point. Some places look quite familiar. The staff is friendly and professional. We met the Governor of Queensland, Dr Young in the house as well. Love her attractive smiles.
