Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
The Glasgow Necropolis is a Victorian-era cemetery that houses the graves and mausoleums of prominent figures from Glasgow's past. Spanning 37 acres, it is a rich source of captivating architecture, sculptures, and historical narratives from the city's Victorian era. With an estimated 50,000 burials and around 3,500 monuments marking them, this cemetery has been described as a 'city of the dead.'
Beautiful cemetery within walking distance of Glasgow city centre. Spent about an hour looking around. I'm sure there would be something interesting to see each visit. Very peaceful with lovely views of Glasgow Cathedral and loved the spring blossom. Free to enter.
Claire G — Google review
Stepping into the Glasgow Necropolis feels less like entering a cemetery and more like discovering an open-air museum. This Victorian masterpiece is an absolute must-see and a true five-star experience. Perched on a hill overlooking Glasgow Cathedral, the Necropolis offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. As you ascend the winding paths, each turn reveals a new and stunning monument. The sheer scale and intricate detail of the tombs and mausoleums are awe-inspiring, a testament to the city's rich history and the craftsmanship of the time. You can spend hours wandering, reading the fascinating inscriptions, and admiring the varied architectural styles, from Greek Revival to Gothic. The atmosphere is one of serene beauty and historical reverence, not at all eerie. It's a peaceful place for a walk, a spot for contemplation, and a photographer's dream, especially as the light changes throughout the day. The "Bridge of Sighs" that connects the cathedral to the Necropolis is an iconic entry point, setting the stage for the grandeur that awaits. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique and beautiful place to explore in Glasgow, the Necropolis delivers on every front. It's a truly unforgettable place that captures the city's past and offers some of the best views you'll find anywhere.
S G — Google review
Absolutely stunning. We love a grave yard and this has to be one of the biggest and best we've been to in the UK. Huge monuments and lots of different graves and structures to look at. It looks out across Glasgow city and you can see the beautiful cathedral from it's banks. Its a bit messy in places with overgrown ivy and trees but I guess this is down to the council and money. It's still stunning though and really gets you appreciating the architecture.
Karl V — Google review
Set on a hill overlooking the city, this Victorian cemetery offers stunning views of Glasgow, especially at sunset. The architecture of the tombs and monuments is incredible—each one tells a story. It’s peaceful, a bit eerie in the best way, and perfect for a reflective walk. I’d recommend combining it with a visit to the nearby Glasgow Cathedral and grabbing a coffee in one of the local cafés after. A quiet yet powerful experience.
AJay S — Google review
“Grand cemetery of the Victorian elite” as per Google maps! This place is so interesting, full of social history. We were there over an hour and only saw some of it. Following in from the entrance next to Glasgow Cathedral the paths twist and turn getting higher and higher. The view from the higher parts of the Necropolis are breathtaking! We visited on a bright sunny day but I would love to see it at dusk. I think the Necropolis has to be one of the places you should definitely visit when visiting Glasgow. Free entry. Highly recommended!
Anne S — Google review
We were visiting Glasgow for a day trip from Stirling and walked around this fascinating attraction known as the Victorian “city of the dead” situated on a hill just east of Glasgow Cathedral. It is home to approximately 50,000 burials and around 3,500 elaborate monuments and mausoleums. The top of the hill has nice view of the city and the Cathedral.
Catherine H — Google review
The large cemetery located behind the Glasgow cathedral. It is very extensive and imposing. The Victorian style tombs tells the power and wealth of those buried there. One of the biggest and noticeable tomb is a monument dedicated to John Knox, while he was actually buried near Giles cathedral at Edinburgh. The place necropolis means city of dead.
Stanly W — Google review
The Necropolis is a great place to visit in Glasgow's spiritual heart. Although the Necropolis is in the centre of busy Glasgow, it is a good place to go for inner city peace and contemplation and also stunning views of Glasgow stretching in all directions. Tours are also given lasting about 2 hours, which book up quickly. I highly recommend a visit to the Necropolis.

Art Museums
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a must-see attraction in Glasgow, offering a diverse collection of Scottish and international art as well as natural history displays. Situated in the historic district of Glasgow Cross, it provides visitors with an opportunity to explore 22 galleries featuring famous floating heads and renowned artworks like Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross painting. The museum also offers exhibitions that provide insights into different time periods.
Visited the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum during our family holiday to Scotland, and it was a standout experience! The building itself is stunning—both outside and in—and packed with exhibits that kept the kids fascinated for hours. From ancient artefacts to interactive science displays, every room offered something unique. The highlight for us was the natural history section and the Spitfire suspended in the main hall—absolutely thrilling for the little ones! The atmosphere was welcoming for families. Best of all, admission was free, making it an easy and worthwhile stop for travellers. Highly recommended if you're exploring Glasgow with children—educational, entertaining, and inspiring!
Robi H — Google review
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is outstanding, with a fantastic mix of art, cultural treasures, and natural history exhibits. The daily organ concert at 1pm is a real highlight and not to be missed. The biggest drawback is the parking—spaces are limited, the machines don’t accept credit cards, and the parking app doesn’t work for international visitors, so don’t bother trying. Bring coins if you must drive, but it’s far easier to take public transit or Uber. Aside from the parking headache, this is a world-class museum and well worth the visit.
Tim S — Google review
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Glasgow's largest and most popular attractions. It contains a wealth of exhibits ranging from prehistory to the present day. One of the most interesting exhibits is Salvador Dalí's painting, "Christ of Saint John of the Cross". The sheer number of exhibits and artifacts is impressive, and it takes several hours to explore everything. On-site amenities include restrooms and refreshment stands. The icing on the cake is the organ concert held there. As they say, there's something for everyone. I highly recommend it.
Sylwek Y — Google review
Absolutely brilliant museum! Can't miss this one when on Glasgow! Definitely worth spending some time here and then some! Setting aside the great architecture of the building itself the collections are absolutely fantastic catering to varying tastes from Natural History to Painting to Design. And to top it all, it's free! The shop doesn't disappoint either if that's high on your priorities 😉
Antonis K — Google review
Lovely museum with a brilliant range of exhibits - not just Art. 2 gift shops, one for adults and one for children, will a lovely range of items. Is free to enter but you need to pay for parking. We paid £7.90 for three hours which was well worth it. There’s a food van in the car park for hot drinks and a bite to eat. We used the EV charger - lead got stuck in the machine and had to call the help line who wouldn’t release us until the car next to us had disconnected. Not the museums issue at all but worth noting if you’re planning on charging there.
Francesca B — Google review
I have been a few times over the years and still enjoy it just as much as I did the first time. I went recently with my family on a rainy day. We had a good walk round everywhere and spent a couple of hours. There is lots to see and things for kids to do around the museum. There is a wee cafe inside, if you fancy a tea/coffee, cake, soup and other things available. I have never tried to cafe so cant comment on the food. There are 3 floors to discover a huge range to keep everyone happy. There is also a gift shop. Plenty toilets, disabled access with elevators to get from floor to floor. At certain times you can her the giant organ playing (we went Sunday) so it played at 3pm. There is a big park area outside for a walk round or picnic in dry weather. Can hop on the 77 from Buchanan bus station and takes 10mins. Bonus its Free. There are places you can leave a donation. Don't want to share too many photos so you can see for yourselves.

A wonderful place to visit in Glasgow! Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is truly amazing — a perfect mix of art, history, and culture under one beautiful roof. The architecture itself is stunning, and the exhibits are very well arranged. I especially loved the variety — from ancient artifacts to modern art and natural history displays. It’s peaceful, educational, and completely free to enter. A must-visit spot for anyone in Glasgow!
Talha A — Google review
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Glasgow’s most beautiful and iconic landmarks. The museum, opened in 1901, is housed in a stunning red sandstone building located beside Kelvingrove Park and near the University of Glasgow. It features over 8,000 exhibits, including masterpieces by Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Salvador Dalí, as well as fascinating displays about Scotland’s history, nature, and culture. One of the highlights is the grand organ, which is used for free daily concerts that fill the museum with wonderful music. The museum is free to enter and offers a perfect mix of art, history, and nature — a must-visit spot in Glasgow!

Glasgow Cathedral, also known as St. Mungo's, is a significant example of Scottish Gothic architecture and the oldest building in Glasgow. It was consecrated in 1197 and is the only medieval cathedral to have survived the Protestant Reformation in 1560. The lower crypt houses the tomb of Glasgow's patron saint, St. Mungo. Visitors are captivated by its stunning stained glass windows and ornate interior.
Glasgow Cathedral is one of the iconic buildings to visit in Glasgow. Its breathtaking and majestic Gothic architecture is evident both inside and out. The intricate details of the cathedral reveal the rich history of this enduring structure. The cathedral is free to enter, but donations are recommended for the restoration and maintenance of the building. Please note that the last entry is at 4:15 p.m., so you’ll need a full hour to explore everything inside. There’s also plenty of information to read along the way.
Kevin F — Google review
Despite the advised booking of free tickets online, we discovered upon arrival that no one was checking them, and we were permitted to enter freely. We were fortunate to join a free guided tour immediately. The volunteer guide provided excellent context, explaining the history of the cathedral and the reasons for its construction in that location. There is a great deal to see, and visitors who appreciate religious art and history could easily spend several hours inside.
David A — Google review
Stepping into Glasgow Cathedral is like stepping back in time. The architecture is incredibly detailed and mesmerizing, and the history within its walls is palpable. It's a truly unique experience to walk through such a historic place. Plus, it's free to enter, and you can get audio guides for a small fee to learn even more. The cathedral is really well-maintained, and it's a great visual experience. Highly recommend
Abins A — Google review
First visit inside, had walked past it on numerous occasions in the past. A wet Saturday afternoon, the cathedral and the square looked amazing. Lots of tour groups, the place was a buzzing. Once inside, the atmosphere was very sedate and respectful. Beautiful , building and the stain glass windows just add to the spectacular nature of this building
Ed H — Google review
One of the most impressive cathedrals I've ever been to! It's such a large and beautiful place. We were blown away. Free entry and worth a visit to the necropolis over the bridge while you're here.
Eilidh B — Google review
We love to visit the Cathedrals when visiting a city, although we have visited Glasgow many times this was our first visit to the Cathedral and it is well worth a visit. Wonderful stain glass windows and ornate ceilings. Loved all the history and atmosphere as I said well worth a visit if you're going to Glasgow

Gorgeous. A very beautiful cathedral. Wonderful history of survival. Very nice to see how they are fixing the stone outside and preserving it's beauty.

Amazing cathedral, the architecture is truly magnanimous. I really like the way they maintain and run these establishments. Was able to spend more than 60 minutes..just soaking in the history of this place. The audio tour was really good..good accessibility and proper restrooms as well. Overall, I love it

The cafe downstairs very busy, waiting to be seated, there is a smaller cafe upstairs, you can go outside straight onto the tall ship, which isn't free, £4.50 adult. They do ask if your able to make a donation, absolutely recommend a visit, good for children as well, the tour buses pick up down there as well.

Anyone that gives this museum less than 5 stars needs to have a word with themselves. This museum is such an asset to Glasgow and worth a visit for all ages. Firstly it’s free which after visiting we couldn’t believe. There is so much to see and do and we spent hours exploring all the exhibits. Inside is split over two floors with all areas wheelchair accessible. You can get up and close with vehicles of all shapes and sizes from old police cars, ambulances and fire engines to steam rollers, motorbikes and cars of every shape and size. It has a great selection of steam trains on display and we loved the old fashioned street display where it felt you were walking back in time and you could explore all the old shops and even subway train. There is a lovely wee cafe and gift shop too.

The Riverside Museum is a fantastic place to visit, especially as admission is free, making it accessible for everyone. Its location right by the river adds to the charm, giving visitors a chance to enjoy the scenic surroundings before or after exploring the museum itself. The building is modern and striking, and once inside, you’re greeted with an impressive collection that feels both inviting and easy to navigate. One of the highlights is the range of lovely old vehicles on display, from vintage cars and trams to classic bikes, which are fascinating to see up close. The museum is also very well thought out in terms of accessibility, with excellent disabled facilities that ensure all visitors can enjoy the experience comfortably. It’s a place that combines history, culture, and atmosphere beautifully, making it well worth a visit.

This museum is a really good day out. Tracks the history of transport from the beginning to now. A good variety of interactive displays to keep the interest. Good for kids and adults. Has a cafe to grab lunch or a quick bite to eat. Well worth a visit.
Shannon N — Google review
Amazing place, one of the best museums we have ever been to, got there at opening time, stayed until around 3.00pm, great coffee, great soup...... The displays are very well laid out with lots of interesting info. The ship conveyer belt was so cool. Great to sit in an old underground train and watch the movie from the 1940s, also the Coronation tram, the old shops and street were so well done..... Love seeing the Caledonian Railway 123 loco, still have my Triang/Hornby one from the 1970s :) Not all about transport, plenty about Glasgow life. The Tall Ship is worth a visit too just behind the museum.
Martin C — Google review
I am unable to provide a rating for a museum. However, if you are a true automobile enthusiast, this particular museum is an exceptional destination. The extensive collection of vehicles, all maintained in such remarkable condition, is truly astonishing. And its free.

A very good place to visit with children. A good collection of old cars, bikes, and a train, and how the streets look. It feels like you have time traveled and are seeing the past with your own eyes. It will feel very nostalgic to the elderly who may remember a few things from their childhood. Free to visit.

Pollok Country Park, located in Glasgow, offers a diverse range of activities for visitors. The expansive park features extensive woodland and gardens that provide a sanctuary for both wildlife and nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy the lush greenery, scenic landscapes, and tranquil atmosphere while exploring the various walking trails and mountain biking circuits. Families with children can take advantage of the play park and open spaces, while couples can indulge in romantic riverside picnics.
Had a beautiful visit with the family, there is a highland cow pasture with little calves which are soooo cute, the Highland cows are very affectionate, love being petted and getting their picture taken. There is a large family play park where kids of all ages can have a go at the various swings, slides etc ..that includes us Adult kids. The burrel collection museum is also located within the park, (which has recently been refurbished) and is free to enter, there is a beautiful cafe in the museum as well as a souvenir gift shop. The grounds are also pretty spectacular with lots of paths and little routes to guide you through the park. There is lots to see and hear including waterfalls, amazing plants and greenery, as well as the overall sound of nature. Definitely a must visit for all.

I recently visited Pollok Park with my family, and we had an absolutely fantastic time. The park is beautifully maintained and offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, open spaces, and interesting views. Children play area was really nice and had lots to do. The kids loved seeing the Highland cattle and exploring the woodland areas. A great spot for a picnic, family walk or just some quiet time away from the city. Highly recommended.

Great place to explore after we landed in Glasgow before checking into the hotel. Great way to see Highland Coos, explore beautiful grounds, and more. We wanted to walk and chose not to go in to see the art because of limited time. The Pollok HOuse was closed, but looked very impressive from the outside even with work being done. Lots of people walking dogs and lots of families. We had much better opportunities to see highland cows later in our trip, but it was fun to see them here on day one and learn about them.
Kym S — Google review
Beautiful park! 🏞️ There were so many Highland Coo's. 🐮 We got to pet them and scratch behind their ears. They were so friendly and cute! 😍 The paths were very pretty and the Burrell Collection was very cool and had such a variety of gifts in the gift shop. Would definitely return! 🤩
Kristina L — Google review
While the views are nice, there is not much guidance about different locations within the park. I saw so many tourists confused and leaving disappointed because there was barely any tour guidance. Only a couple maps that made it hard to make sense of where to go. Anyway enjoyed but experience could havr been better had we not walked for an hour with a disable child looking for the right place

A beautiful and peaceful place! 🌿 Pollok Country Park is one of the most stunning parks in Glasgow, with wide green spaces and a calm atmosphere. Perfect for walking, relaxing, and even spotting deer roaming freely. The park is clean, well-maintained, and full of lovely spots for photos. A wonderful experience for nature and countryside lovers. 💚

Good location for family and kids cycling . The road are width and clean, mostly cover by concrete/ stones . Wonderful place to see highlands cows Love this place, with different kind of gardens, big cafe, big car park(need to pay - Sunday 3 hours : 4.9£) , clean toilets with a pretty museum. Lots of sign : please keep dogs on leash- as I believe there quite a couple incidents caught dogs hunt and kills wildlife / deer.

The Lighthouse, located in Glasgow, is a renowned exhibition space and visitor center dedicated to architecture and design. It serves as Scotland's hub for showcasing the country's talent in these fields through various events, workshops, and exhibits. The building also features a viewing platform offering stunning panoramic views of Glasgow. Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1895, it remains an iconic landmark in the city and is conveniently situated near the Style Mile.
Mackintosh’s former office tower now offers rooftop views over his city. The spiral staircase’s 134 steps are worth it – each landing has quirky design exhibits. The museum shop sells Rennie Mackintosh postcards printed since the 1960s.

I spent almost 1 hour there with other friends. It presents a great deal of the Scottish arts, however I don't really like the organisation there. It should be reorganized. The open view from the top of the stair way is great for spotting attractions in Glasgow

The building was very nice, the best part of the exposition was the lighthouse itself. The stairwell went up to the very top and made it incredibly worth climbing all those flights of stairs. However, it is not accessible to everyone, if you need to use the lift you can only access a different part of the building that shows you part of the view to the city but you cannot go where the stairwell takes you. Toilets at the lighthouse weren’t great. They had some funny signs but the woman’s toilet seats felt like they were about to fall off the wall if you sat down.

Great place, hidden in the lanes of Buchanan street but worth visiting. Has several museums. To see this staircase you need to go through the Mackintosh hall on the 3rd floor. It would've been great if they had a map of glasgow on the top, so you could easily guess what building is what. Otherwise, fine 👍🏻

After 4 years living in Glasgow and I hadn't been here, this is such a discovery. Nice place with great views from the tower, really arty and we'll located. Apparently is more famous for tourists, but has a great and avant-garde atmosphere.
AlvaRo M — Google review
A building designed by Glasgow favourite son Mr Charles Rennie McIntosh although you don't really get the flavour of it from the outside due to the tightness of Mitchell lane and the close proximity of the adjacent buildings. The tower itself is not by McIntosh but a later addition but has great panoramic views of the city below, so worth the visit but beware I counted 220 steps to the top!

Unique building in the centre of Glasgow with an interesting history. Great viewing from the top where you can go outside on a gantry with a 360°view. A lot of steps to climb from the 3rd floor if you want to get the great view.

A very good exhibition a d a long walk up a spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse for great views over Glasgow. There's also a lift to another, slightly lower viewing platform for the less able. We did both. And all for free.

The University of Glasgow, established in 1451, is a multi-disciplinary institution and played a significant role during the Scottish Enlightenment. The campus, located in the West End since the 1870s, boasts stunning architecture designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Its gothic buildings and castle-like turrets are rumored to have inspired J.K. Rowling's Hogwarts. Visitors can stroll through peaceful sunny courtyards and admire the awe-inspiring old buildings that give off a dream castle vibe.
If you’re into architecture, the University of Glasgow is a must-see. The main building is a stunning example of Gothic Revival style, and it genuinely feels like stepping into another era. From the pointed arches and intricate stone carvings to the massive spires that reach into the sky, it’s a place that grabs your attention from every angle. Designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 19th century, the building looks more like a cathedral or a fantasy castle than a university. The level of detail is insane — every window, column, and corridor has a story. The cloisters (those arched walkways under the building) are especially beautiful, and they make the whole place feel peaceful and dramatic at the same time. What’s really cool is how the building blends history with everyday life. Students walk through these centuries-old halls daily, and yet it still feels fresh and full of life. It’s one of those rare places where the architecture isn’t just for show — it’s still being used and appreciated the way it was meant to be. Even if you’re not an architecture nerd, it’s impossible not to be impressed. Take a walk through, look up, and just enjoy being surrounded by some of the most beautiful stonework in the city.

This isn’t likely to be on many people’s bucket lists, but if you’re an architecture enthusiast, you’ll definitely want to visit the University of Glasgow. You might think it’s just another school, but it’s not. It has a rich history and numerous architectural features that have stood the test of time. Stepping onto the campus feels like stepping into the past, creating a surreal atmosphere. The university’s preservation is remarkable, and every location is incredibly picturesque. It’s not just a place to learn; it’s a wonderful destination to unwind and be amazed by the architecture. The campus also houses a museum that might interest you. Overall, this is a place you’ll definitely want to visit in Glasgow. It’s a historic architectural masterpiece that transports you back in time.

The University of Glasgow is absolutely stunning and feels like stepping into another world. As a Harry Potter fan it is hard to believe no scenes were filmed here because the architecture is magical. For any tourist this is the most essential place to visit in Glasgow and it truly leaves a lasting impression.

An absolutely stunning campus to visit! The University of Glasgow feels like stepping into history – the architecture is breathtaking, with its Gothic towers and beautiful cloisters that look like something out of Harry Potter. The Hunterian Museum and the university grounds are free to explore, and the views over the city are amazing. Even if you’re not a student, it’s a must-see attraction when visiting Glasgow. If you're visiting with kids, like I did, it's definitely an inspiration for them.

Kelvingrove Park, located in Glasgow's West End, is a popular destination for walkers, cyclists, and runners. Established in 1852 by renowned gardener Sir Joseph Paxton, the park sits along the River Kelvin and borders the famous Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. Visitors can enjoy various activities within the park including a skate park, bowling and croquet greens, as well as interesting landmarks to explore.
Park is massive, and something for everyone. They have good size playing area for young children. They also have toilets 🚻 which is a rarity now a day's. Plenty of seat/ benches along the way. On lovely sunny 🌞 day definitely worth a visit. Pack a picnic, have an enjoyable afternoon out. On Dumbarton Rd Plenty of places for food,/ drinks.

Beautiful green space in the heart of Glasgow. Perfect for a relaxing walk along the River Kelvin, with plenty of spots for picnics, play areas for kids, and stunning views of the city. A must-visit for families, joggers, and anyone who loves nature
Cdakingtamudo — Google review
Despite the cold, rainy, and windy weather, our visit to Kelvingrove Park was unforgettable. The entire place felt like a living piece of history—every corner seemed to whisper stories of the past. The rain only added to the magic; historic buildings seemed to dance under the drops, and the moody sky gave everything a poetic charm. It was one of those rare experiences where even bad weather couldn’t ruin the beauty—it actually made it even more special. A must-see in Glasgow, rain or shine.

A large beautiful park in the city of Glasgow. It has flower beds, fountains, skatepark, bandstand, bowling green, croquet area, ponds, and children's play areas. The River Kelvin runs through the park. There are lots of benches so you can easily find somewhere to relax, listen to the bird song, and watch the world pass by. There is good access for people who use a wheelchair. The paths are wide and hard surfaced. Some are steep, but it is possible to find an alternative route. There are lots of maps, but some of these are up too high for a wheelchair user to be able to easily read them. You can walk your dog here.

Park was super busy today, and it was great in the sunshine! We sat and chanted some mantras and my toddler dragged me to the park 5 times! She absolutely loved it and there was so much to see! Wish there more toilets though, as the museum is a bit of a walk when you are bursting! Make sure and go before you visit. Love this place though, super chilled when when it's hoaching!

George Square, a civic square in Glasgow, is named after King George III and was laid out in 1781. The square is adorned with an impressive collection of statues including Queen Victoria, Robert Burns, James Watt, William Gladstone, and Sir Walter Scott. The Italian Renaissance-style City Chambers and the Merchants' House are prominent buildings surrounding the square. Additionally, the Town Hall with its 230-foot tower stands at the east end of the square.
George Square is truly the heart of Glasgow-vibrant, historic, and full of charm. Surrounded by stunning architecture and iconic statues, the square offers a perfect blend of culture and beauty. Whether you’re passing through or taking a moment to relax on a sunny day, the atmosphere is lively yet peaceful. The view, especially with the City Chambers in the backdrop, is simply breathtaking. George Square is a famous place in the centre of Glasgow. There are big statues, old buildings, and usually many people around. But now the square is under construction, so some parts are closed and not so nice to see. It’s still a good place to walk by, but not the best time to visit until the work is finished.

The "renovation of the century", a complete transformation of the square, is currently taking place on the square. It is completely fenced off, nothing can be seen from it.There is a hole in the tarpaulin, through which you can look into the square to see the construction work.

Modern art museum
The Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) is housed in a stunning neoclassical building in Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow. Originally a townhouse, it has transformed over the years into a prominent center for contemporary art since 1996. The gallery features an extensive permanent collection and hosts temporary exhibitions, workshops, and artists' talks. It aims to showcase the work of local talents as well as international artists while emphasizing common influences and practices across the globe.
When you visit Glasgow, you won’t miss the Gallery of Modern Art. Not only is the unique building a must-see, but the statue of the Duke of Wellington outside also perfectly captures the Glaswegian sense of humour. The museum itself is relatively small, focusing on modern art rather than historic pieces. However, the interior is filled with interesting works that showcase local artists. I highly recommend starting from the top floor and working your way down. You can easily spend two hours exploring everything within the gallery. The museum also has a gift shop and is free to visit. While donations are appreciated to maintain the facility, they’re not mandatory. Additionally, the basement serves as a local library and coffee shop. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this museum and being open-minded. Even if the art doesn’t suit your taste, take the time to understand why the museum chose to display those works.
Kevin F — Google review
They say art is the eye of the beholder, and in this case, my eye was not impressed with any of the artwork. There was a reasonable sized collection, so it is worth a look as your tastes may differ. It is free to enter. It was architecturally worth a look. I particularly liked the glass ceiling. There was a small souvenir shop. It was very reasonably priced and had a good selection. The staff were polite and helpful. Young children would not find the gallery interesting. However, there was an art area to distract them. The building is accessible for people who use a wheelchair. There are lifts and ramps available. They had wheelchairs for loan. There were accessible toilets. There were tactile models and audio descriptions. I also noticed they had a quiet room.
Shelley C — Google review
Highlight of my day was wandering around this lovely museum! The exhibits aren't huge but have very cool, eclectic pieces. I felt intrigued and reflective and inspired, which is what one would hope for from a museum visit. There's also a library downstairs so I had a great time just chilling there reading. All in all fabulous experience, so nice to exist somewhere and not feel like your main purpose is to spend money (disclaimer I did buy a postcard for £1).
Lydia H — Google review
It is a large building in the centre of Glasgow and it has a strange layout that requires a bit of navigation to get round. It is over several floors but there is a lift that opens at either end depending on the floor you want to exit. Modern art is always hit or miss. I enjoyed some exhibits more than others. Cafe and library in the basement, shop opposite entry which sells many unique items, so worth a look.
Joseph K — Google review
A great experience! Situated just a stone’s throw from the station GoMA is housed in a beautiful classic building, complete with a statue topped off with traffic cones in front of the building. Beautiful and thought provoking work to appeal to many tastes and in the lower level a lovely library and cafe. The loos are also on this level. Well worth a visit!
Anne S — Google review
I find the museum a bit disappointing. The exhibition space is quite small and I wasn’t very thrilled by what was presented there. I love modern art museums but this one was a bit dull. I have left much earlier than planned for this museum. The good points is that the location is pretty central ( so it’s a good stop if you depart later by train from the city) and it’s free of charge.
Culture T — Google review
Amazing building, interesting peices and welcoming staff. A must see when visiting this wonderful city. It is accessible with a wheelchair. Though tight in the cute gift shop, I found staff very helpful with any challenges faced. Don't be afraid to ask for support/ help.
Caitlin — Google review
I loved the swirly coloured glass panels in the windows. And the mirrored mosaic in the pediment (triangle on the top of building). That and the sculpture of an English Duke with a traffic cone as a couvre-chef announce that we are in for some contemporary art. As an art and library person, I have a selection of library photos to share, as the art will likely change, to remain current.

Glasgow Green is a historic park spanning 55 hectares and featuring iconic landmarks such as the triumphant arch and the terracotta Doulton Fountain in front of People's Palace. I had the pleasure to take my wee neice and big nephew to TRNSMT 2025 Friday night to see the proper good The Script. We walked through the south end of the park, it's a very nice wee park, lots of things to do. Even as we left around 10pm the park was still busy with lots of families enjoying the evening sun 🌞. We had a cracking good time, it's a well organised festival, definitely no like the auld T in the Park days. I have enjoyed many good events at the Green, going back to The Prodigy in the 90s. My group stayed in Glasgow for the Worlds Bagpipe Championships these last 2 weeks. This was some of the groups 1st time in Scotland, including me and my daughter. My 1st impression was it reminded me of los angeles with the graffiti, homelessness, and some people on drugs tweeking on the streets. Our area was very walkable and we had no safety issues. Buchanan street was a nice visit with restaurants and shops. I loved seeing the architecture and art on buildings and my favorite part was visiting Pollock Park and seeing the Scottish Highland Cows and art museum. I was sad Pollok house was under renovation and closed but the Bridge and river were very beautiful. To get around town, we used Scotrail, Uber, taxis, or walked. Glasgow Green is a beautiful park as well. Scotland was so amazing!

We met family in the park and made the most of two of the playgrounds. The larger slides were a huge hit with the kids of all ages. There were a couple of picnic tables, which worked well for a visit. There was also a small cafe, which served a selection of hot and cold foods. We really liked the bike cycle hire that was available, which is part of a small charity, also teaching children to cycle if they don't have access to their own bikes.

This park is great for early morning runners! It has a greenway that goes around the entire park. I ran the side that goes along the Clyde. I would estimate from end to end on that side it’s about 1.5 miles on way. It goes straight into a recreational park full of soccer fields that you can also run around too. I felt very safe, the greenway has lots of trees and a wide path. When running past the Clyde, you may even see some flocks of swans. Seems to be a local favorite running spot!

The People's Palace, situated in the historic Glasgow Green, is a museum and glasshouse showcasing Glasgow's industrial history and local culture from 1750 to the late 20th century. The center offers exhibits featuring objects, photographs, prints, and films that narrate the city's story. It was established in 1898 as a cultural hub for the people during challenging times in the East End of Glasgow.
Free entrance for everyone. What a lovely place! A splendid way to travel backwards in time! This place truly caters to the public, keeping diverse areas vibrant. The stunning architecture and garden surroundings could easily pass as a filming location for "Downton Abbey." Kudos to the incredibly kind individuals standing at the entrance all day, braving the cold to offer every visitor a proper welcome! Ensure you contribute a small donation to play your part in sustaining this establishment (I've included the QR code in one of the pictures).

Hate it cos its indefinitely closed. A crown jewel of tourist attractions in Glasgow's oldest park. Childhood memories abound from late 1950's when my great uncle James opened my eyes to the world of education on many visits there. Now derelict as is the adjacent Victorian tropical plant house. I love this museum, It should be more popular!! The information inside is very well displayed, with big wall pictures, we can see the inside of rooms dating to the beginning of the 20th centuries and objects that explain how people lived. The topics covered: the first, the second world war, the house crisis, poverty, justice, entertainment and holiday. The pictures taken are moving, mixing slums and group of children playing in the building stairs, it made me feel both lucky to be able to live in a proper house, but also nostalgic to an era that I didn't know, when neighbours knew each other and whose children could play around without restriction/fear of strangers. This museum is for me a rare exemple of the right level of text to inform and well displayed to be eye-catching. In addition, the person at the entrance of the museum was really nice, he said hello and goodbye with a big smile.

It’s free and no booking is required. Also free parking. This museums shows the history of Glasgow and gives visitors an insight into how Glaswegians lived, worked and played in years gone by through collection of objects, photographs, prints and a film. Greenhouse (Winter Gardens) is closed though, not sure if and when it will re-open. There are toilets throughout the building, lifts for those who may need extra help and on the first floor there is a café.
S S — Google review
Lovely building full of very interesting artefacts of Glasgow through the years. We enjoyed our visit very much. Had a decent cup of coffee and a snack in the cafe area. The toilets were very poor. I understand its an old building but the toilet seats weren't even secured properly and the restrooms were not very clean. This is the reason I cannot give it 5 stars.

The Tall Ship Glenlee, a restored 19th-century Victorian sailing ship moored on the River Clyde in Glasgow, offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the city's rich shipbuilding heritage. The ship, one of only five remaining tall ships built on the Clyde that is still afloat today, features maritime-themed exhibitions and tours.
Great ship but the lower decks are very boring. It is interesting to see but if you don't want to be disapointed, just stay the deck 😉 I would say that if it wouldn't cost any money... but it does.. so enjoy you time and have fun.
SirJ2000 — Google review
I always like setting foot on deck of old ships like this one, however, I gotta say that I enjoyed its sister ship the Cutty Sark in London just a little more. We also visited when it was free to explore, now there’s a small cost. It’s funny to look into the history of this ship and see how many times it has been sold off. The ship is bigger than you’d initially think, but it still doesn’t take too long to explore - an hour tops. It’s a fun stop when in the area.
Cody P — Google review
This ship is definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring the Riverside Museum. Doesn’t take too long to explore but you can get up close in all the main areas from the hold and engine room to the captain and crew quarters. Really nice staff in all areas and even has a cafe and and toilets on board. Well worth a visit and really cheap to get on.

The Tallship is beautiful. Its location in a beautiful area. The staff are very friendly. I really appreciated the book I received with my online ticket. I liked how we could visit all decks. The unfortunate part was that the ship has been altered to allow make for an event space.

Amazing to explore a ship that was around in the war. I enjoyed exploring the boat. I enjoyed it more than i thought. There is a small cafe inside thats inexpensive.
Hannah B — Google review
The ship is sa true landmark of Glasgow. Hawing served under many flags It returned to Glasgow and now serves proudly as a stationary landmark of the city's shipbuilding past. The inside is not as impressive as the outside but the best part for me was the cargo hold. I had wonderful time learning bout the boat and connecting with my roots as my grandfather was a welder at the Denny's in Dumbarton. Overall. A must in the city even just to pass by

Loved it in here, really good and spent lots of time walking about. A lot more to the whole place than you’d think from just looking at it.

Historic old sailing ship berthed next to the Transport Museum. Best views from across the river on Govan side. Glenlee is a steel-hulled three-masted barque, built as a cargo ship at Port Glasgow under that name in 1896 for Glasgow owners. With later owners she was named Islamount and Clarastella. From 1922 she was the sail training ship Galatea in the Spanish Navy. Since 1993, carrying her original name, Glenlee has been a museum ship at the Riverside Museum on Pointhouse Quay in the Partick area of Glasgow, known as The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour.

The Hunterian Art Gallery, nestled within the University of Glasgow, is a treasure trove for art and history enthusiasts alike. This remarkable venue houses over a million items, ranging from meteorites to mummies, showcasing an eclectic mix of artifacts that span centuries and cultures. As Scotland's oldest public museum, it offers visitors a unique glimpse into the past with its extensive collection that includes everything from Roman relics to dinosaur fossils.
Don’t miss the Mackintosh House! It is well worth the ticket. It’s just exquisite, almost startling in its delicate beauty and craftsmanship. A feast for the eyes. The permanent collection is also lovely, and grouped by interesting themes, rather than the usual staid chronology. A must when in Glasgow, made even more pleasant by the cheerful staff.

An absolute must for McIntosh fans! McIntosh house is certainly the highlight of this collection and definitely worth the ticket if you're into design/ McIntosh. The rest of th collection doesn't disappoint either so certainly well worth the visit when in Glasgow. Friendly staff and a nice little shop too.

This is an amazing gallery. The Mackintosh house is particularly worth a look. The gallery itself is free, the Mackintosh house is £10 full price and less for concessions. The collection in the main gallery is diverse and interesting. The Mackintosh house is a reconstruction of a house the Mackintoshes lived in. It is just an incredible reconstruction with painstaking attention to detail. The knowledge of the staff is really awesome and they are friendly and thoughtful.

The Scotland Street School Museum offers a fascinating journey through the history of Scottish education, with reconstructed classrooms from the Victorian, World War II, and 1960s eras. Originally designed by architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh to serve Glasgow's shipbuilding and engineering communities, this museum provides insight into school life during different periods. Visitors can admire the architectural features of the building before stepping into classrooms that reflect various historical periods.
Located in the district of Kingston, Scotland street school museum has wonderfully preserved the evolution of education system in Scotland in the 2Oth century. We were fascinated by the exhibits. I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in history and education. The employees there are very knowledgeable and welcoming. My 8 year old daughter was shown all the toys commonly used by both boys and girls in Scottish schools in the last century and she could play with some of them.

I gave it 1 star only because rather than temporarily closed it was a building site, I really do hope it comes back to life because I made the journey to see it and was disappointed that there was very little I could see through the scaffolding.. hope to get the chance to see it in a condition more like its original form

The Willow Tea Rooms, located at 217 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3EX, United Kingdom, is a charming cafe designed in 1904 with an Art Nouveau theme. It was created during the temperance movement to provide an elegant space for enjoying tea instead of alcohol. Architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh oversaw its construction, and extensive restoration has preserved its original style. The menu features a traditional three-tiered cake tray with baked treats and sandwiches.
I visited the Willow Tea Rooms with my mom and we had such a lovely time! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the unlimited tea was such a treat. We really enjoyed being able to sit, relax, and chat over endless cups. A wonderful experience I’d happily recommend to anyone visiting.☕️🩷

I tried their afternoon tea set, around £40 for two. It was a nice experience. My partner particularly really liked the smoked salmon sandwich and meringue. I LOVE the fruit scones with butter and jam. Unpretentious and very charming. Tea was nice and hot, in a pretty teacups. I do not know if they can do hot water refill though. Even though they can do walk-ins, I recommend to get a booking since they get busy at times. Conveniently located in Buchanan Street, perfect for a pit stop after a stroll/shopping.

I've always wanted to go but we are usually too busy. This year we managed to visit the Tea Rooms on Buchanan St. It didn't disappoint. I'm unsure whether there is a lift, but the stairs to enter are a little daunting given my slight disability, but I managed it. Absolutely stunning decor, as expected with a cute gift shop. All of the staff are chatty and helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The food was amazing and beautifully presented.

Wow such an amazing welcoming afternoon tea experience. We came to the Willow Tea Rooms from London for my partners birthday and the staff were so friendly and the service was 10/10. I was too full to eat my cake that I had selected, so the staff gave me a little box to take back to my hotel. When I had my cake later on OMG it was delicious 10/10 my partner was trying to pinch it after devouring his earlier. I didn’t manage to get the manager’s name but she was absolutely lovely and gave us some great recommendations for visiting Glasgow. Thank you The Willow Tea rooms we will definitely be back.

Situated on the banks of the River Clyde, The Clydeside Distillery is a must-visit for whisky enthusiasts. This single malt whisky distillery offers individual and group tours, a specialist whisky shop, and even a fill-your-own-bottle option. Despite Glasgow's limited whisky heritage, this distillery aims to revive the city's disappearing whisky trade.
Very cool Scotch whisky distillery that opened around 2017. They sell their own brands (which are obviously no more than 8 years old), as well as a plethora of other great brands, some of which have been aged for 20+ years. We went for the tour which gave a great overview of the history of the building and the “why” of the business owners way ahead. The tour ends with a tasting which we enjoyed.
Greg E — Google review
Joined the whisky and chocolate tour. Alastair was a fantastic guide. He explained everything clearly during the distillery visit and provided lots of interesting information during the whisky and chocolate tasting. He shared why and how each chocolate was paired with a specific whisky. Really enjoy this part. We tasted five different whiskies, each paired with a locally made chocolate. We received a free whisky glass as a souvenir at the end. The only downside was that the tour felt a bit rushed. There wasn’t enough time to read the historical displays in the Dockside Story area. It is not the tour guide fault. maybe the tour structure could be adjusted so guests have time to explore that section before the tour begins?
Uncle C — Google review
Nice and modern distillery. With tours being interactive and interesting, and of course tasty. 😊 Quite young distillery so limited selection of whisky, my favourite was the HMS Glasgow. In time the selection will be better of course, so I would do a new tour in some years. The guide was very friendly and generous. Videos and info banners and interior are modern and high quality! I was impressed! The location is just 2 stops and a little walk from Glasgow Central.
J J — Google review
Got a Tour of the distillery as a birthday gift. The tour takes about an hour and there's 3 or 4 quality malt whiskys to sample at the tasting session at the end of the tour. The production area and the small museum and Bar/Shop are all spotless clean. The young tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. A lovely 5 🌟 experience. Highly recommended.

A great experience for a stag do hosted incredibly by Marnie. She was fantastically knowledgeable about the distillery and process, providing plenty of humour and insight throughout the tour. I've visited several distilleries and taken part in many tours and maintain that the host is a crucial element in ensuring that the experience stands out. Would highly recommend!
Carl B — Google review
Booked tour: Whisky and Chocolate. The tour only gives you a basic insight into the technical plant. Nevertheless, in retrospect it was an interesting experience, as the focus of the tour is obviously more on the whisky lifestyle. This became particularly clear during the tasting of the various whiskies and chocolate. Part of the tour is a small museum (which unfortunately came up far too short) as well as a guide who led the group with a lot of humor. The time flew by. The chocolate tour can definitely be recommended! If you are in the small visitor center long enough before the tour, you can also eat delicious (!) snacks there. The staff were friendly and supportive at all times.

We really loved the experience here. Tour done by the amazing Riley and we were very impressed by her. She can really tell a good story. We did the 1 hour tour and got to taste some whiskies as well. The whiskies we tasted were really nice. They have a nice shop with souvenirs as well. No food in the café but the nice people in the shop gave us some recommendations to go have lunch in the city.
Nathalie — Google review
Great tour of a real distillery and its real equipment. Reasonable price. What I don’t like: our guide was rushing us all the time; the last part in the distillery room is supposed to be the best part of the tour, but the machine is so loud and the guide could barely be heard; the whiskeys offered for tasting are not good ones.

Cocktail bar
Red Sky Bar is Glasgow's premier rooftop bar, offering panoramic views of the River Clyde and the city. The sleek interior lounge and relaxed outside terrace provide the perfect setting to enjoy signature cocktails with a Glasgow twist and tasty small plates celebrating the city's cultural diversity. Located in the trendy Finnieston area, this rooftop bar sits on the historic grounds of Glasgow's shipyards, providing stunning views of both the city lights and the river.
My recent visit to the Red Sky Bar in Glasgow was nothing short of spectacular, and that's entirely thanks to the incredible team, particularly the dynamic trio of Shaq, Scott and Sean. While the panoramic views of the city are breathtaking, it's the people on the floor that make the experience truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a genuine warmth that set the tone for the entire evening. Sean, was super friendly made sure we were settled and comfortable, promptly getting our initial drink orders. But the true highlight of the night was Shaq. Shaq is more than a server; he's a true host and his energy was magnetic. Red Sky Bar just gained a new repeat customer.

Have just spent over 8 hours here to see my very favorite DJ. Only spent so long as the curfew for entry to the venue was 4pm when the main act didn't come on until 9pm? Seems like a ploy to get you to overspend? Seems that if you're staying in the hotel this does not apply perhaps. The DJ was incredible however the clientele were shocking - I nearly had my phone pickpocketed (lucky I felt it being pulled from my pocket in time). Security in the Sky bar were unpahsed when I told them, however, staff at the main lobby as I exited were highly concerned and apologetic which I appreciated. View from the bar was great and ultimately is a good venue. Just the clientele left me feeling a little shocked today.... was difficult to enjoy the show due to this. Be careful.

Pre booked for 2 two months ago. All window spots are for big groups. So if you want to enjoy a nice quiet drink with a view you’re out of luck. We have a nice view of other bigger party’s and were told we couldn’t move to a vacant space as they are reserved for bigger groups. Drinks were nice but bar service was slow and the bar was not full. It’s a shame as I wanted to enjoy it and unsure if I would come back as a couple.

My friend and I came here on a thursday evening during a long weekend in Glasgow. Its a nice bar with some fun decor and the outside area has food views of the SEC and river. You can also smoke out there, so me and my mate had taken some cigars. We had a couple of vodka and oranges and bought a couple of ladies we were chatting to some cocktails that they werent that impressed with. Staff were friendly and would visit again

If Red Sky Bar is the crown of Glasgow nightlife, then Shaq and Sean are the jewels that make it shine. From the moment we arrived, their energy, warmth, and professionalism took the experience to another level. I couldn’t recommend going here more!! Shaq and Sean didn’t just serve drinks — they served main character energy. Definitely go, you won’t regret it!!!!

The view from Red Sky Bar is absolutely breathtaking, a perfect place to pause and take in the city. However, the true highlight of our visit was the service provided by Shaq and Sean. Shaq, in particular, was a master of hospitality. His professional and attentive approach was unparalleled. He didn't just serve drinks; he delivered an experience with skill and precision that was a level above anything I've encountered before. Together, Shaq and Sean form a truly fantastic team. Their combined efforts make Red Sky Bar more than just a place with a great view—it's the best bar I have ever been to.

One of the few bars in Glasgow where you can enjoy a genuine city view, most of the others you're basically looking at some crowded rooftops. This on the other hand is worth it. Amazing views up the Clyde and brilliant view of the sun setting over the west of the city. Can be indoors or outdoors here which is handy for the Scottish weather.

Nice calm experience and atmosphere, however just for a coffee and a coke it took about 15-20 mins, maybe because they had just opened but that’s slightly too long to wait, the views were nice! Free as well so that’s a bonus!

Celtic Park, also known as "Paradise" by fans, is the largest football stadium in Scotland and home to Celtic FC. Even if you're not a football enthusiast, a visit to this state-of-the-art stadium is highly recommended. The guided tour has been described as "fantastic," allowing visitors to explore areas like the boardroom, tunnel, dressing room, and dugout while being accompanied by knowledgeable staff.
Celtic Park is Paradise on Match Days and the best atmosphere in the UK on European Champions League match days. You'll never hear anything like it. You start to see and feel how special and the history of Celtic on the Celtic way. Which I hope the club develops further. I highly recommend taking a stadium tour and even have. A3 course dinning experience as its fantastic or visiting the on site Celtic Bar, just check times though. The superstore is good and has a wide selection, although it's often hard to find children's sizes which is a little disappointing.

The Glasgow Police Museum offers a fascinating look into the history of the City of Glasgow Police, which was established in 1800 as Britain's first professional police force. Located in downtown Glasgow and operated by volunteers, the museum features interactive displays and activities for visitors of all ages. From dressing up in police uniforms to participating in competitions and quizzes, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Amazing collection. Museum is not very big, but full of interesting things and stories. Big bonus is the staff, former policemen. They were so funny and we ended up chatting with them in the end. Highlight of the day.

Very interesting museum, with some knowledgeable, helpful staff on hand to offer an introduction plus any further information you might require. It's not very big inside, but there are plenty of fascinating stories and history anecdotes to read along with items, uniforms, medals and curiosities to look at. Photos are allowed. It is up on the first floor and entrance is free. Donations are welcome and should be encouraged in my opinion.

Great little museum, staffed by two very kind and chatty ex-policemen. Good to have a place to share the history and stories of the people who do this important work. It's quite a bit of reading, but there's also a lot of things to see. They have police uniforms from all over the world, which is quite impressive. You need to call at the door to be let in. Recommended for a visit if you're interested in local history and policing in general.

Really interesting free museum run by ex-serving police officers, one of my fave recent museums I’ve been to. Lots of interesting stories to read with memorabilia of how the police used to run back in the day. I donated £6 but it is entirely up to your own discretion what you’d like to donate.
Jason G — Google review
The museum is compact and yet displays a large amount of information and history about the police force in Glasgow. The 2 former cops running the place are passionate about the artefacts and the history behind them; the worldwide uniform and police force patch is a private collection on display full of stories and a lifetime dedication which has been even awarded with a MBE medal. We had great talks and even saw some family pictures; the human side of this corner of Glasgow is insanely vivid and deserves your attention and donation.

Windows Restaurant is located on the seventh floor of the Carlton George Hotel in Glasgow, and offers panoramic views of the city skyline from its indoor dining area. The restaurant is decorated with a refined European style, and serves up delicious food that is sure to please guests. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive, making it a great place to enjoy a meal before attending a show at the Royal Concert Hall nearby.
The view is very nice, about the same height as the buildings around the restaurant. So you have a nice side view over the city with chimneys, towers, older and more modern buildings. After chilling outside for a while until sunset on a warm sunny day, we went inside and had dinner. Even though some of the older reviews were not so good, we enjoyed the food very much. The staff was also very nice and accommodating.

The food was OK, but the savoury food was basically just little sandwhiches..no brioche buns or wraps. Scones were lovely and so were cakes. The view was nothing great. A lot of bird poo on the roof below. Room itself is quite dated looking. Finally staff were pleasant enough but never came back once to ask if everything was OK or if I wanted a refill of my coffee (which apparent you can get unlimited but I never knew as no on offered) so just a lack of attention. Over all the experience was OK.. but not really worth the money.

The restaurant it’s nice, an old hotel in a good location. the view is not good except for two tables in the corner. The food was okay, good portions, the pastries were good, the sandwiches a little bit simple but with a decent taste. The scones could be better (very plain flavor ) The service was just okay . they never explain how was the Afternoon tea’s service. they never checked if we need more tea of coffee. Or even water / Prosecco. We wanted to order a glass of prosecco but nobody check our table so we didn’t ask for it. If we would reader the reviews before go to this place , I’m not sure if we would choose it.

I would give the afternoon tea a miss due to the tiny scones, sub par quality jam and the cakes did not taste high quality or made in house either. Sandwiches we’re also under-filled and had bland fillings, staff did not check back just chatting by the till and were confused when I asked to remove their 10% service charge which was not mentioned when booking.

The view is just spectacular! If you want to see Glasgow from above, this is a good spot for it! The restaurant has two small terraces where you can sit outside and have a drink. Inside it is very cozy and I liked the atmosphere. Also the staff was very friendly and very attentive, asking several times if we wanted anything else. The food was coming fast, was very nice arranged and totally yummy. Alltogether a really pleasant experience!

The location was amazing! We went primarily for the unique view of Glasgow. We had the afternoon tea which was ok - selection was relatively normal to other afternoon teas offered around the city but nothing to complain about either. It's a great place to bring your moms for a treat in my opinion!
Sarah A — Google review
We enjoyed a lovely Afternoon Tea with Prosecco here, with wonderful views over the Glasgow city centre skyline. We were served a delicious assortment of sandwiches, brioche rolls, sausage rolls, scones with jam and clotted cream, and a yummy selection of cakes. We can't wait to go back!
Karen H — Google review
When I first arrived there was nobody there and after giving my booking name they asked if I was eating alone, though the booking was for 2 people. The view which was the main reason for booking this restaurant with a guest from out of town, was ok - it does look out over the city but mainly at seagulls and rooftops. The door outside whistled and rattled, periodically slamming open and shut, throughout the meal. The cocktail menu which says something along the lines of ‘if you don’t see your drink, as for it and we can make one for you’ but they didn’t have the ingredients for the cocktail I asked for from their own menu - I believe a french martini. I then asked for amaretto which they also didn’t have and gave up and took a plain gin and tonic. The drink my friend asked for also wasn’t available so she got wine. I had the thai curry and added chicken, followed by ice cream. The curry was pretty awful and very watery. The ice cream was fine. The service, food and drink were all pretty poor and I wouldn’t go back.

Linn Park, Glasgow's second largest park, covers over 82 acres of lush greenery and offers a variety of activities for visitors. It features woodland and river walks, an 18-hole golf course, and two children's play areas. The park is open year-round, providing opportunities for picnics in the summer and scenic snowy walks in the winter.
Love this park! It's really beautiful, great parking and there are options for everyone whether you like wide open grassy spaces, woodland river walks or equipment for your kids to play on.

Huge!!!!! Such a huge park i was there for about 2 hours walking around. It was absolutely beautiful. No flowers but it was still a nice walk. All the leaves are coming back. Wish I could've stayed to see the flowers.
Buruk B — Google review
Linn is apparently an old Scots word for waterfall. The Whitecart Water is a constant presence here and an impressively wild river for being so close to the city. I even spotted a wee dipper feeding in the rapids. It's a nice little wander from the stone Snuff Mill to the Ha'penny and back.

Beautiful Southside parkland running alongside the River Cart. Woodlands and paths are clean and tidy. There is an accessible waterfall and lots of grassy areas with benches to rest. It’s peaceful, simple and relaxing. One of the largest and nicest parks in Glasgow and well worth a drive to.

It was a sunny, winter afternoon & I loved the stroll around the park. The waterfall is a must see if you visit the park. And what's nice is you can choose your walking trail based on your time availability, physical fitness and/ preferences etc. - there's so many trail options to choose from!

Beautiful park to walk in with it'd waterfall and White bridge on the River Cart. Not the best day for a visit as after this spell of dreadful, persistent rain, many parts of the park are waterlogged and very muddy. Like nearby Rouken Glen the park is a dogwalkers paradise. The waterfall was in full spate today and was a wonderful sight. Some paths are closed due to landslips, again cos of the heavy rain. Lets hope for some dry weather in May.😳

The Glasgow Science Centre Tower, also known as the Millennium Tower, holds the Guinness World Record for being the tallest full-rotating freestanding structure in the world. Standing at 127 meters high, it offers sweeping panoramic views of Glasgow's city center and surrounding landscape. Designed by Richard Horden and Buro Happold, this impressive structure can rotate 360 degrees, providing visitors with a unique vantage point.
It was a bit tricky to find the entrance but it was a great experience. You can have a nice birds eye view of the city. Plus, our guide was very knowledgeable about the history and the area. It's only 9.5 pounds (around $13) but you get to be at the 2nd tallest structure in Glasgow and have an awesome city view as far as the mountain ranges. I recommend it for sure. Note that they are weather dependant so if it's raining or windy they will be closed. So, better check the weather before confirming your visit. Do not recommend pre-booking.

Peter M — Google review
Good, enjoyed it, but not great. Conveniently located next to science centre, but because of that it only goes to the towers height from the river level. I've seen towers like this usually located on some elevation compared to city centre, which would be easily done with Glasgows elevation differences - the view could be way better at even half the current hight of the tower itself.
Paweł P — Google review
Great to see it open again so finally got to experience Glasgow from high up Check website before travelling to see if tower is open but if it's not theres loads for the younger ones to have fun with at the science centre itself... Cinema, Planetarium and more Staff were lovely friendly made to feel welcome

Finally managed to get up the tower today! Well worth a visit (come on a calm day as the tower closes when wind is more than 25mph). The view is stunning and you can see so much from 100odd meters off the ground. I've been up the Berlin Fernsehenturm and you can see way more from Glasgow tower (and the windows are cleaner)

Wonderful way to view the city. We were able to go up with just our attendant, so it was nice and quiet. I think it would be great at dusk/evening.
Vincent A — Google review
Showed up a bit after they opened on what had been a gray and rainy day. We ended up being the first group up as they apparently can't operate the elevator when the wind is over a certain speed. The view was amazing and the guide was knowledgeable about the towers unique construction and the visible landmarks.

The Glasgow City Chambers, located in the heart of George Square, is a 19th-century architectural gem designed by Scottish architect William Young. This Victorian landmark, opened by Queen Victoria in 1888, boasts opulent interiors featuring Italian marble staircases, mosaic ceilings, gold leaf accents, and stained glass. Serving as the headquarters for the City Council of Glasgow today, it offers guided tours that provide insight into Scottish political and civic history.
Free tours are available weekdays 10:30 and 14:30, any it works as first come first serve basis, starting to give out visitor cards 30 minutes before the appointments. You can walk around the ground floor without the guided tour too which is already spectacular, but I highly recommend to join the tour - even though the guide's Scottish accent was so strong I just gave up listening after a while 😅. But it's my fault, the building is like Hogwarts indeed.
Viktor L — Google review
We had a great tour of the place by one of the tour guides although some places were closed due to meetings. However the architecture was amazing and definitely a hidden gem in Glasgow. Tours are however available at limited times only but it is definitely worth the visit.
Sen Q — Google review
Build during Victorian time this building and the architecture is priceless. The City Chambers is western Europe's largest marble staircase, built using Carrara marble imported from Italy. It is credited with having more marble than the Vatican. Must book a tour in advanced if want to see more. The only times that are being offered are 10:30am and 2:30pm Monday-Friday, excluding the public holidays etc.

Beautiful building but sadly partly closed when I visited. It was only possible to visit the beautiful halls downstairs and make pictures around, but without a tour I guess it was not possible to see more of the building. This was also quite unclear to me.

We came here for a tour but we were told by the many stately doormen outside, that we were able to visit inside... ONLY to sign our condolences for the Queen, and then leave promptly. Promptly?! Well then! We said yes please and bowed ackwardly. (Come on! They were in suits, what would you have done?!) What a gorgeous and opulent building inside. The stairwell up to the "Book of Condolences" was quite the regal climb, but much more satisfying waltzing back down...nice and slow, regal like. Nothing like strutting down marble and red carpet. Too bad no one saw us though! We looked good.

Art school
The Glasgow School of Art is a renowned university-level art school that offers design and architecture courses housed within the iconic Mackintosh building. In 2014, a devastating fire swept through the historic main building, threatening to destroy the masterpiece designed by legendary architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Despite the destruction of the beautiful Mackintosh Library, heroic efforts by firefighters saved most of the structure. The resilience and grandeur of the building, even in its damaged state, reflect Mackintosh's architectural brilliance.
This is amazing and wonderful school of arts , they have students to all overstaff from different walks of life so you will definitely get best experience and teaching here that much they have former student who has mini gallery shop on garthill run by panda mcglone and his wee pals that shows you the levels of how good the art school.
Amanda — Google review
What an entitled, aloof, privileged and arrogant institution this is. Their catastrophic footprint on the local area and Glasgow as a whole after their fires can never be ignored. Having closed roads for years for their personal use under the guise of repairing the Mack is appalling. The place should be demolished and every single person in management fired!

I'm happy to share my experience at The Glasgow School of Art! The institution's commitment to delivering high-quality education is evident in every aspect. As a student specializing in design, I have found it to be a great place to learn and connect with outstanding lecturers with a lot of both practical and theoretical experience. Even as a first-year student who joined as an advanced learner from year 3, I've been thoroughly enjoying every moment and discussion with my tutors. The classes are of great quality, providing valuable insights and fostering practical learning. It's been a rewarding experience, and I highly recommend The Glasgow School of Art for anyone seeking an enriching and fulfilling education in design.

The Burrell Collection, a carefully curated assortment of over 9,000 objects donated to Glasgow by Sir William Burrell in 1944, has recently reopened after an extensive refurbishment. The collection includes ceramics, tapestries, glass, and decorative arts from various periods and styles spanning over 6,000 years of world history. Visitors can explore works by renowned artists such as Bellini, Rembrandt, Chardin, Degas, and Manet.
Wonderful family outing. It is free to enter but you need to pay for parking which there was plenty of. There is a wide diversity of items in the collection. From antiquities of Egypt, Greece and China to artists such as Rodin, Degas and Cezzane. There are interactive videos for young ones. Plenty of space on the grounds for a picnic or there is a restaurant available inside. Large play area by the parking for little ones as well.

The Burrell Collection, nestled within the Pollock Country Park, is a must-visit destination in Glasgow. Not only is it free, but it’s also a beautifully renovated museum with a modern design. The museum’s layout is expertly crafted, featuring a free-flowing route that takes visitors through a diverse collection of artifacts from around the world. Among the impressive collection are paintings by renowned artists like Degas and Cezanne, as well as many others. The Burrell Collection offers a truly captivating experience, allowing visitors to spend time exploring its rich and diverse exhibits. Highly recommended, the Burrell Collection is worth a detour from your usual route. Enjoyable visit to The Burrell collection. We arrived and were offered to join a free tour, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed. There is a lot to take it, and many areas we likely missed. We will return again... the inside area itself is very well looked after. The toilets were also spotless. Cafe food is a little expensive, but it is properly catered by professional chefs and is very fresh. We did enjoy the food and would pay the prices again. * please take the time to pay for parking as it is £100 fine if you are caught (GGC), and there were 2 wardens visibly checking tickets. It's not expensive considering its free entry. If you have any spare change, there is a donations box to contribute to on the way out. Allow yourself 2 - 3 hours

The Tenement House is a 4-room flat that offers a glimpse into the daily lives of people in early 20th-century Glasgow. Despite its unassuming exterior, this middle-class tenement holds an authentic time capsule with original fixtures and fittings. Visitors are transported to the past, experiencing firsthand how many people lived during that era. The stories of long-term residents and the property's journey to becoming part of the national trust add to its fascination.
The house contains a cache of items from 1911 to 1965 that belonged to the previous owner, Miss Agnes Toward. Each room is laid out how she would have lived in it, from her homemade jam in the cupboard to the sewing machine that she used as a dressmaker. There are only six rooms to visit. Two on the entrance floor explain how Tenement houses were used and how the National Trust came to own the property. On the next floor, the four rooms are the actual areas where she lived. There is also a room that contains replica items you can handle and a children's information area. All rooms were very interesting and well laid out. There is a cafe and a small souvernir shop. Prices were reasonable. If you are planning on eating in the cafe, check the opening times as sometimes it closes earlier than the rest of the property. Staff were very welcoming and happy to chat. There are toilets on the ground floor. There is no disabled access to the property. There are 15 steps to the entrance and further steps to the rooms. The rooms are small and full of items, so it would not be possible to move a wheelchair around. Original gas lighting is used, so some rooms had low lighting.
Shelley C — Google review
Very interesting indeed. I personally would have wanted to see how different levels of people lived in those days, not only one specific person, but even with that (which is a very personal desire), it was great. There is also a cute little sitting area with dress up clothing for kids and coffee machine and snacks for the adults. The staff is above compare and friendly.
ME G — Google review
Visiting The Tenement House in Glasgow was like stepping into a time capsule—I absolutely loved it. The preserved details, from the coal-fired range to the original gas lighting, made it feel like Miss Agnes Toward had just stepped out for a moment. I was struck by how intimate and authentic everything felt, offering a quiet but powerful glimpse into early 20th-century life. The staff were warm and knowledgeable, and the whole experience had a cozy, nostalgic charm. It’s a hidden gem that made me appreciate the everyday history behind ordinary lives.

Cute little museum that shows the life of an ordinary Glasglow resident in the early 1900s! It's quite small, just a few rooms, and took us under an hour to thoroughly see. Nice, but not necessarily a must-see given all the incredible free museums in the area.
Suzette W — Google review
Filled with the actual household items -- furniture and piano, cook stove, dishes and cookware, art and books, clothing and personal items -- owned by the last occupant who lived there for most of her life. News articles on the wall from the 1930s and earlier amplify the life back then. Well worth the time and effort to get there to see it. Thank you to the trust for keeping it so pristine and original.

Provand's Lordship is a unique medieval house museum located in Glasgow, Scotland. It is the oldest remaining house in the city, dating back to 1471 and one of only four surviving medieval buildings. The museum showcases 17th-century Scottish furniture, historic royal portraits, and meticulously arranged rooms with interiors spanning from the 1500s to the 1700s. Additionally, visitors can explore the St Nicholas Garden on the premises.
Well worth a visit. The restoration has been done to a high standard, love the stone walls and wooden beams. Very interesting place, with loads of historical facts and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Nice garden outside with gargoyles all around.

Free entry. Mediaeval building - only it and cathedral survive from this period in Glasgow. Small visitor section, short video explaining history and then can wander around. Rooms on upper floors have various artworks relating to building and surrounding ding area. Garden to rear was lovely on a sunny spring day. Staff knowledgable.

One of the four surviving medieval buildings in Glasgow. It is worth a visit to see the original architecture; the pretty garden and the 17th-century furniture. Entry is free. Staff were welcoming. You are offered a long or quick verbal history of the house before you explore. There are no toilets in the house. The garden is wheelchair accessible. The house is not fully wheelchair accessible.

A beautiful part of Glasgow I’ve never explored before. Loved visiting this house. A step back in time. Doesn’t take long to have a quick whiz around if you’re with kids. Took me longer as I like to read all the information posters.

I've not been here for many years and I nearly walked passed as its been refurbished beautiful inside and out with all the historical pieces. The video at the start was very interesting and it said that Mary, queen of Scots had stayed there for a while it's a very calming building and well worth a visit if in the area ( don't forget to check out the garden area)

Wonderful museum and one of the last medieval buildings left in Glasgow!! And free entry!!! So much history here that is worth reading further on as well. Very friendly docents working . There are stairs so be mindful it is not fully handicap accessible.

Weary traveller do like old buildings? If you don't, you are in the wrong place. Glasgow has old buildings, this happens to be the oldest of the buildings. It is currently a museum, prior to that it was the house of the hangman. Who would like to hang with that man? It is a small or as the Scots would say a wee museum. You should put it on your visit list the price is right. Don't forget to visit the wee garden.
Raymond A — Google review
The building is named after one of its owners, Sir George Skene (1619-1708), a wealthy merchant and Provost of Aberdeen from 1676 to 1685. The house was used by Hanoverian troops as a billet during the Jacobite rebellion and the Duke of Cumberland stayed here on his way to Culloden....the museum has a large collection of pioneering people of scotland ...also including a few pics of the area around the house in Aberdeen

Nestled in the picturesque green belt of East Kilbride, the National Museum of Rural Life offers a delightful journey into Scotland's agricultural past. This family-friendly museum features a charming 1950s working farm where visitors can interact with animals and engage with hands-on displays that bring farming history to life. The museum showcases an impressive array of artifacts related to traditional trades such as cider making, cheese production, and even peat digging.
Am amazing museum full farming things, a tractor collection, The best is the farm with animals and a farm house. They have cows, and chicken. Very friendship staff and you can expect free tractor trailer rides every half an hour. Book them at the till even if they are free! Also a history of the local area and the family.

1st time visiting and with my grand children. It was worth the money £12 for adults and £9 for children, under 5s free., also discount s for students and pensioners. This allows you to visit the museum and farm for one year . Plenty animals for kids to look at. Also an old farm house which you can look around. Tractor ride is also free which will take you up to the main bit of the farm. We chose to walk up but on reflection should have taken the tractor ride as we had a double pram . We did get tractor back down to the museum and pram was folded down and put in the back of tractor. Plenty to look at in museum and facilities are good with a cafe (this was a bit expensive if your on a budget) We finished off our day to the play park which has ample tables and benches.
Jr J — Google review
Nice friendly staff across the board probably minus one in the cafe but the rest all friendly. Great set up, registered for the year very good and will return. Good tractor ride up to the farm, park pretty good with plenty of picnic tables. A lot of tractors to see downstairs aswell as a few activity areas. Good to pass a few hours time.

We decided to explore this museum in our short visit to Glasgow. I think it is a small hidden gem, that is worth to visit. The ticket costs around 13 pounds and it gives you access during all the year. The museum itself is relatively small: I would say it would take 1 hour to see all the things and read all the information. However, the trip to the farm is super great. First, one can go there in a tractor trip (costs already included), which is itself a nice experience. Then, in the farm one can see many animals: pigs, chickens, cows, highland cows, and horses. Unfortunately it is not possible to interact with them, but one can get very nice close pictures! The trip to the farm would take another hour. Coming back to the museum, there is a cafeteria with standard prices I would say. There was a soup of the day option, as well as many other options. I recommend the coronation chicken. It was my first time trying it; it is a combination of curry, chicken and raisins, and tastes awesome. I wish there was more animals and more interactions with them, but it was fun. I would recommend anyone to come to this place also to see high land coos

Had a great day very funny to see the duck parade and also the ride up to the farm on the tractor. Cute wee piggy's to see. Farm house is so nice looking back through the past.
Jean B — Google review
A good experience, went mainly for the farm and it was a good day going there. Friendly staff, great views and was good to see how things are on a working farm. Also got to see cows being milked too which was a surprise!
Dan B — Google review
We spent about two hours at the Museum. While the museum itself didn’t fully capture my interest, I did enjoy the walk to the farm and the tractor ride—it was a nice touch and a bit of fun. The café was on the pricey side, but parking was easy and convenient, and the staff were friendly throughout the visit. I think this place would be a great outing for families with children—there’s more for kids to see and do. For adults without a strong interest in rural history or farming, it might feel a bit quiet.
April L — Google review
Lovely afternoon spent at the National Museum of Rural Life. It wasn't a planned visit as I was in Glasgow for a concert the day before and wanted somewhere to visit. The weather was beautiful, blue skies and sunshine, so we walked to the working farm instead of a tractor ride. The new born calves were lovely to see as was the milking parlour. The museum was interesting along with the history of farming. We went on a weekday afternoon so it was very quiet, plenty of parking. The bonus is that the entry ticket lasts for a year, so when I come back to Glasgow I can visit again.

Perfect place for a flat, easy run or a walk with the family. Nice short route. Geese, swans and ducks around so the paths have poo on them, very clean otherwise. Usually quite busy with runners, walkers and families.

James Hamilton Heritage Park in Glasgow is a fantastic spot for both relaxation and outdoor activities. The park’s centerpiece is its large, scenic loch, which is perfect for a peaceful stroll or a brisk walk around its perimeter. Water sports enthusiasts will appreciate the range of activities offered, such as kayaking, windsurfing, and pedal boating. The park is well-maintained, with plenty of green spaces, making it ideal for picnics or just sitting and enjoying nature. There’s also a small play area for kids, which adds to its family-friendly atmosphere. The views around the park, particularly at sunset, are quite picturesque, and the wildlife, including swans and ducks, is a nice touch. Holmwood House, located in the southern suburbs of Glasgow, is a Victorian villa designed by the renowned architect Alexander 'Greek' Thomson. This grand building, completed in 1858, showcases classical Greek-style architecture with lavishly decorated rooms featuring ornate plasterwork. The property was purchased by The National Trust for Scotland in 1994 and has undergone restoration work to uncover its original decorative features. Guided tours are available to explore this domestic masterpiece and admire its well-preserved interior decor.
Wonderful experience. Nice staff, welcoming as well, the café was a nice moment while we waited for the tour. It deserved a visit to have knowledge of Alexander Thomson and all his buildings around Glasgow. Just I personally don't think it is a good choice to create a rivalry with Mackintosh during the video. It's a totally different era, Thomson is one of the expressions of the New Classical style in 1850. Mackintosh started the 1900 with a real new style. Glasgow and his rich history deserve a common commitment.
Gilberto M — Google review
Holmwood is a fascinating place and the guided tour we had was outstanding. The guide was a real expert on the work of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, and pointed out so many details that we would never have noticed. Particularly fascinating information about the way he blended local references and familiar styles with the 'exotic' colours and motifs he took from Greek, Egyptian, Assyrian etc cultures. Also good on the tricks used to make the house appear bigger, such as fake doors. The guide was very engaging too, and the tour was well adapted for non-disabled visitors and for the disabled guests who happened to be part of our small group. The cafe is really nice, and though the garden is not very exciting, the adjacent Linn Park with riverside walk and waterfalls is well worth a visit.
Faye H — Google review
Popped in on a rainy day. There isn’t a huge amount to see unless you’re especially interested in architecture, but the house has some nice details. Staff were friendly, and the small café, though limited, was quite tasty. A pleasant little visit if you're nearby. Around an hour or so is enough.
April L — Google review
Although this is a small house and the gardens are totally underwhelming it is certainly worth an hour of your time. Unfortunately there is very little information in the house so if you are to get any benefit from the visit the guided tour is a must. They are run hourly. We arrived mid tour but the coffees and cakes were delicious which filled in the time. The house's architect was Alexander Thompson, a prominent Victorian whose designs are seen all over Glasgow. Viewing the house with a guide brings it all to life. The rooms are beautifully proportioned and decorated in the Greek style.
Jocelyn T — Google review
I visited for the first time today! 5* Holmwood House is an absolute gem! Tucked away just a few miles south of Glasgow, it’s a beautiful example of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson’s unique Neo-Greek style. The house was built in 1857–58 and has such a striking presence, even though much of the surrounding area is single-storey. The history behind it is fascinating — it was commissioned by James Couper, a co-owner of a successful paper mill nearby. A must-visit if you’re interested in architecture, history, or just want a peaceful and inspiring afternoon out. The setting by the River Cart adds to the charm. Highly recommend!
OLIVER G — Google review

Absolutely stunning place, really takes you back in time to 19th century. The fact that it's not very renovated only adds to the charm of this place. Glasgow's hidden gem. Tickets for shows are around 7 pounds. Definitely worth checking out.

I absolutely love the ambience, the queerness and the retro-ness of this place. The whole space looks like a movie set for a thriller taking place in an unidentifiable but heavily aesthetic time in the past. The service is excellent, the shows are great Looking forward to going again!

Lovely location for a casino with views over the river from the restaurant. Nice casino but limited games compared to other casinos in Glasgow. There is no poker or dice tables. The restaurant is ok, prices are good but quality of the food could be better. Tempura broccoli was more thick batter than broccoli. They didn't have any salmon, which was my main choice as I don't eat red meat so I just had the vegetarian option of Korean BBQ noodle dish, which actually was very tasty. All the staff I met were all very friendly and helpful.

What a find! Even in January 2023, it's a well-maintained garden, a medicinal herb garden, talks, and lectures. Indoor cafe, theatre, exhibition centre in a restored and re-purposed tram shed, the Tramway. I'm sure that tall chimney has rounded bricks! I'd love to learn more of the history of this once industrial site. Pics from July 2023, March 24

Was waiting for the car fix and accidentally found the chill garden. Really peaceful and the green was big enough to do a proper social distance picnic given it’s so hidden, not much people were there on a Saturday afternoon was a plus. Highly recommend for people who’s looking for some peace to enjoy the quietness or the lovely plants.

I stumbled upon a hidden gem while taking my little one, #weeman, to an event at these gardens. To say I was amazed by their beauty and quaintness is an understatement. We enjoyed some peaceful bird watching, had fun building a bug hotel and learned a lot from the knowledgeable volunteers. This would make for a great day out for families with young children, offering a fun and educational experience within the city. I highly recommend a visit to these gardens, a little oasis that's perfect for a peaceful escape and some quality time with the family.

Hidden Gem of Glasgow. Small, yet Beautiful Place to Relax, with less people around. Visit and Experience it yourself, if you need a Calm Picnic Day in Sunlight. Highly Recommended.

Ruchill Park spans about 53 acres and offers a natural escape with its lush greenery, well-maintained grass, and stunning views from various vantage points. The park features three playgrounds, a disc golf course, jogging trails, open green space, and even frisbee goals. It's a popular spot for relaxation on warm days or leisurely walks with the dog. Visitors can enjoy the scenic city views and make use of the basketball court and training apparatus.
An absolutely serene and rejuvenating spot—it felt like peace washed over me the moment I arrived. There’s nothing quite like nature’s embrace to help you gather your thoughts and find your center.
Nisha D — Google review
Very quiet at times, definitely worth exploring for some nice views of the city.

As a disc golf course, this is a fun putter course. Small 9 hole. I didn't need my driver's. Unfortunately, dog walkers have no regard for the disc golfers and will walk right in front of your shot, tie their dogs up to the baskets, and worse yet, leave piles of poo as obstacles. If you're looking for a quick 9 at lunch, this is the place.

Great park. Great views from top park & up at the flagpole. Beautiful sunsets. Outside gym & basketball park. Benches.
Lucinda X — Google review
A cute park that breaks away from the city vibes. Lots and lots of greenery, wild areas and even frisbee goals. Great for relaxing on a warm day or just stretching the legs. The flagpole leaves a little to be desired as greenery is now hiding a lot of the view. What you can still see on the other hand looks amazing!!

Bigger than I thought. Some good views and they have a Frisbee course! Great for dog walks. Some nice landmarks near by
Stephen S — Google review
Loved this park. Great basketball court and a spare hoop for balling. Great areas for the kids to play about and excellent views of the city as well. If its exercise you want then this would suit all your needs as well.

Beautiful views of the city centre, only if people stopped throwing rubbish on the streets... But I guess that is just part of Scotland. Is a shame having this beautiful and green country and not taking care of it

McLennan Arch is a stunning and iconic feature at the west entrance of Glasgow Green, the city's oldest public park. Originally a window frame from a building on Ingram Street, it has been relocated several times before finding its current position in 1991. This classical piece of architecture serves as the finish line for the annual Great Scottish Run and is beautifully complemented by nearby cherry blossoms in spring.
A lovely Victorian arch at the entrance to Glasgow Green. The architecture has previously been moved to three other locations before ending up here in 1991. It is free to view. The arch is accessible to people who use a wheelchair. There are lots of seats nearby for people with walking difficulties.

This arch has had an interesting history. Originally part of an 18C building it has been placed in various parts of old Glasgow. It seems now to have found a final resting place in the entrance of Glasgow's oldest park - Glasgow Green
Bernard S — Google review
McLennan Arch is a beautiful and iconic feature of Glasgow Green. The architecture is impressive, and it stands out as a wonderful example of Glasgow’s rich history. It’s a great spot for photos, leisurely walks, and enjoying the surrounding park. The area is peaceful and well-maintained, making it perfect for a short escape from the city buzz. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or just exploring Glasgow Green, the Arch is a must-see!
Oliver J — Google review
Well constructed, neat and beautiful place filled with flowers
JT O — Google review
The arch is ok, but what is really nice is that it is the first of several "monuments" in a lovely park right by the Clyde river. Makes for a pleasant walk.
Marion M — Google review
A lovely park is surrounding the arch
