Fitzbillies is a classic bakery and cafe in Cambridge, known for its traditional pastries and artisan coffee. It's a popular spot for East Anglian fare, offering delicious Chelsea Buns that come highly recommended by locals and even Stephen Fry. The cafe specializes in Traditional Afternoon Tea, making all the bread for finger sandwiches, sultana scones, and mini cakes in their own artisan bakery.
We had the original Chelsea bun, and it met expectations. It was warm, fresh and had lots of small raisins in it. Service was quick, and the lady at the counter was the sweetest. Also not too pricey considering the touristy location, and the cafe’s popularity.
Akhil S — Google review
Nice - pretty typical modern day cafe come cake shop. And while the Chelsea buns may have the same recipe, the way the sugar coating is done nowadays is just not what it was. Fairly average coffee too by modern day standards. Still 4 stars though because I am a picky so and so and you may well find coffee and buns are splendid!
Adam R — Google review
A charming and bustling bakery in Cambridge, best known for its famous Chelsea buns. I ordered a sultana raisin scone served with jam and clotted cream, along with a cup of coffee. The scone was beautifully crisp on the outside, while the cream was rich and indulgent — absolutely delicious. I shared a few Chelsea buns with my friends, and they were every bit as good as their reputation. Although the café was busy, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were served. The lively atmosphere made it the perfect place to enjoy good conversation over excellent pastries. A must-visit spot when in Cambridge.
Tomoe M — Google review
We visited Fitzbillies on a busy Sunday afternoon — it was packed (as expected!) but we managed to get a table without too much waiting. The ordering system is done through your phone, which was convenient overall, though one of the hot drinks was a bit tricky to find on the menu. Of course, we had to try the famous Chelsea bun, and it didn’t disappoint — beautifully sticky, sweet, and rich. They even provided extra golden syrup to pour on top, which was a nice touch. The cappuccino looked great and was well presented, though it could’ve had a bit more depth of flavour. We also had a savoury snack of whipped feta and chickpeas, this was nice but 4 crackers was not enough. The staff were friendly and attentive, even with how busy it was. Overall, a good experience and definitely worth a visit if you’re in Cambridge — especially for the Chelsea bun!
Alamin A — Google review
The cinnamon bun at Fitzbillies is absolutely divine—soft, rich, and bursting with flavor. The café has a warm, welcoming vibe, and the display of fresh pastries is irresistible. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves classic, indulgent baked goods!
Mohammed A — Google review
Came here to check out the iconic Chelsea buns. They were great and lived up to its expectations. Others may find it too sweet for them, but I think it’s a matter of preference and I can appreciate it! We then saw they did afternoon tea, so we tried it: Sandwiches were poor and lacked flavour. Scones were huge (easy split 1 between the 3 of us), and the jam was great. Red velvet cake was amazing. Others were average. Service was really friendly but completely disorganised. Asked for water but never came (mistakes happen, so it’s ok). But while a male waiter was bringing in loads of fresh cutlery, he kept lobbing it in their containers and was constantly making ridiculous amounts of noise. No music was playing and generally the cafe was extremely noisy, given that it wasn’t very busy. Atmosphere was nonexistent. I recommend purchasing your Chelsea buns (as they are worth it) from the bakery beside to takeaway and avoid the cafe. You are not missing much. Value is also on the high side for the quality.
Jeremy O — Google review
After reading many articles mentioning the Chelsea bun is a must have in Cambridge, I was determined to try it before leaving town. I bought some as take away. When I took a bite into the bun moments later, I was utterly disappointed. It was dry and nothing extraordinary. I am not sure what all the hype is about. It was way below my expectations. Only saving grace was the friendly staff I encountered.
J K — Google review
We honestly do not understand how this chain can be so busy, since their flagship pastry is a bun with disappointing hints of whatever flavour they promise. We would not be trying this again. It might be catering for the English palette. The interior design is as dull as they come. The only positive is the generally friendly staff.

Tea house
Restaurant
The Orchard Tea Garden, located in the picturesque countryside of Cambridge, is a historic and traditional spot for enjoying a delightful afternoon tea experience. With over 125 years of practice in serving quintessentially English afternoon teas, this venue has been frequented by famous figures like Virginia Woolf and Bertrand Russell. The garden offers a serene setting for indulging in homemade scones and an array of sweet and savory treats.
A charming and historic spot for a traditional English tea experience. Set in a beautiful orchard, the garden is perfect for a relaxing break and enjoying the scenery. The scones and cakes are amazing, but the tea itself isn’t the best compared to other English tea rooms. Still, the lovely atmosphere and gorgeous garden make it well worth a visit.
Olga L — Google review
Our visit preceded our trip to Ely. The property is situated on aesthetically pleasing grounds, complemented by surrounding fruit trees. A picturesque path leads to the river, providing an enjoyable experience. The scones are of exceptional quality. We recommend expanding the scone selection to include cheese scones, in addition to the existing plain and fruit options. We were given permission to collect the fallen apples and plums, which were delicious in a homemade crumble.
T R — Google review
The setting is absolutely beautiful — peaceful gardens, classic deck chairs under apple trees, and a lovely atmosphere that feels like a step back in time. It’s a charming place to relax, especially on a sunny day. We ordered scones and cakes, which looked promising, but were a bit disappointing. The scones were large but served cold and quite dry, and the cakes tasted like they had been sitting out for a while — not very fresh. For the price, we expected better quality. Service is self-serve and quite slow, especially when there’s a queue. Also, be aware of the parking system — you need to register your car at the till, or you might get fined, even if you’ve paid. It’s not very clearly communicated. Overall, it’s worth a visit for the atmosphere and setting, but the food and service could definitely be improved to match the charm of the place.
Nicko C — Google review
The Orchard Tea Garden in Grantchester is a great end point for a short (1-hour) walk from Cambridge to Grantchester where you can indulge in English delights: dappled sunlight, deckchairs under apple trees, and cream teas. The scones are generous, the jam plentiful, and there’s actual parking (a rarity near Cambridge). This place has been serving tea since 1897, and both Virginia Woolf and Rupert Brooke once lounged here to think deep thoughts (probably about cake). The perfect spot to while away an afternoon and get some fresh air.
Russell R — Google review
The scones are insanely good! This place is definitely a must-visit. It has such a relaxed vibe - you can sit in the garden and enjoy their delicious food and drinks. I absolutely loved the whole atmosphere. Just be aware that during wasp season they can be a bit annoying. There was a long line of people waiting for something to eat or drink, but it’s worth the wait. For the full experience, I recommend walking along the river from Cambridge to The Orchard Tea Garden and back - it makes the visit truly magical.

Had the most fabulous time at the orchard tea garden. My partner and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary with an afternoon tea which was truly a lovely experience. Right from the setting, including ideal weather and the delicious food. However what really made our experience fantastic was our server Faith who did a brilliant job at being so attentive in her service and welcoming not to us but also to the guests around us. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Cambridge or who would love a fabulous dining experience.
Miriam S — Google review
Best scones in Cambridgeshire. Nice selection of simple seasonal lunch menu and soup of the day as well. Self-service and seating in beautiful outdoors picnic style. They do have seating indoors for rainy days but recommended for day with good weather when you can enjoy a stroll in grantchester meadows
Rosa V — Google review
Once but never again. Service was terrible. “What’s the soup of the day?” “Look at the board.” Alright, you could’ve also just told us friendly, as you work in hospitality. Prices are insane for what you get. I read many reviews stating that since new management took over in February the whole service is off and the prices are ridiculous. Maybe step up, listen to your customers and improve? Because if I read the recent reviews this is not durable. Coffee and hot chocolate were terrible and cakes were alright. But 1 piece of cake and a hot chocolate is already around 10 pounds.

Breakfast restaurant
The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie is a vibrant and stylish restaurant offering an international menu with vegetarian options and a delightful weekend brunch. At Quy Mill Hotel & Spa, they go beyond the traditional afternoon tea, providing options like Gentlemen's Afternoon Tea and Children's Afternoon Tea. The Ivy's afternoon tea features a unique selection of desserts and brioche roll sandwiches, but it's only available from 3-5 pm.
Was an enjoyable experience, the food was great, tasted really good and prices are reasonable. Good choice of cocktails and wine is always nice too. The staff were just as great maybe even better. From the moment we came in to the moment we left, staff were all really friendly and extremely helpful. Even commented how nice my partners dress was. I did note on the booking that it was my partners birthday and at least 5/6 staff members came up to her throughout the night to say happy birthday even the manager, which was really appreciated and made the evening even better. They even presented her with an bday dessert too with a candle which was the cherry on top of a great night. Our server for the night Marvin was an absolute delight, they were incredible and made us feel comfortable and well looked after. Shout out to Marvin, if we can request someone to look after us next time it will be Marvin for sure. Had a smile on the whole time, kept our drinks topped up and even had a great wine recommendation to pair with our dessert All in all was a great evening, will definitely be visiting the next time we are in Cambridge and would recommend to anyone
J S — Google review
Been to this particular Ivy on a couple of occasions. If you’ve been to one they are all pretty much the same with regard to food as the menu is consistent. They differ though on consistency and service. The Ivy in Cambridge is very good indeed, the food is always consistently good and the service is impeccable and you are well looked after. On Fridays visit we chose to eat off their Heritage menu which is good value for lunch. All the dishes we had were delicious and our server, Marvin, was also very attentive. Recommended.
Lee E — Google review
The afternoon tea experience was lovely — the service and our waiter were excellent, and everything was beautifully presented. However, there were a bit too many sweet options, and the balance between sweet and savoury could have been better. It was delicious, but quite a sugar overload!
Ayşe Ü — Google review
We reserved seats for Valentine’s Day with a set menu. The ambiance is inviting and draws the eyes to many special motifs throughout the place. We had squid appetizer and a plate of their sourdough bread. I’d encourage you to get the bread. My wife and I both exceptionally loved the bread and will go back if only for the bread (the bread is a clear repeat beyond anything else we had). For the entrees, we had salmon and a lobster pasta. Both were good and yet not stunning or set for a repeat. There were very large chunks of lobster in the pasta which was welcome, and the salmon was crisp on the outside with moist-soft texture in the middle, yet the flavors of both entrees were just “ok”. The dessert was fun to witness and quite tasty. The video is of the dessert.
Mayer J — Google review
This is a great place. We ordered their popular shepherds pie, steak and chips which I replaced with another side. Food presentation was great. I saw their fish and chips which is impressive. I will definitely try it next time if I am hungry enough.
Linda L — Google review
The Ivy is a staple among visits to unfamiliar cities. The Ivy Cambridge is lovely, with an eye catching decor, consistent experience guarantee, and a generous selection of drinks. We did have a wee wait for our bill once we had finished our drinks and wanted to leave. However, the bartender worked tirelessly making various cocktails, entertaining bar guests and maintaining cleanliness around his section, so this is easily forgiven. As with many Ivy locations, it is well worth going if you fancy a night drink or dining experience
Kian R — Google review
We had a wonderful evening here, the only downside was that we were both slightly disappointed with our mains (our fault, our choice) the Scallops and Squid were both great and the I've chocolate bomb was the star of the show. From the attentive front of house staff to pur waiter it was a lovely meal. Only negative was the ill pouring of good wine at the table, every drop is designed for enjoyment, we dont need to waste it on the cloth. We highly recommend this restaurant and yes we know its a little expensive.
Ryan I — Google review
We came here for a 3 year anniversary dinner and everyone was so lovely. We even got a little dessert from The Ivy at no extra cost celebrating the occasion. It was so nice, I loved the artwork. The food was delicious. We had the cheese soufflé, truffle balls, burger and I think a duck curry of some sort (apologies this was 3 months ago!). Then the celebratory bomb with popping candy! Plus the extra treat from the Ivy. It was so yummy, I’m surprised we weren’t carried out we were so full.

Cocktail bar
Parker's Tavern, established in 1834, is a luxurious dining venue located within Cambridge University Arms. The restaurant offers a fine selection of British classics and an exquisite afternoon tea experience. Chef Tristan Welch's menu is inspired by the city of Cambridge, with each dish telling a unique story. The afternoon tea options include freshly made finger sandwiches, homemade scones, crayfish boats, truffle and mushroom sausage rolls, and an array of sweet treats.
I recently visited Parker’s Tavern, located within the stunning University Arms Hotel in Cambridge, and had a fantastic experience. Although I didn’t stay overnight, I spent a relaxing evening at the bar, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by warm, attentive staff who made the entire visit feel special. The service was impeccable—friendly yet professional—and made us feel completely at ease. We ordered a few drinks and some small plates to share, and everything was top-notch. The cocktail menu was creative and well-curated, and the drinks were expertly made. The food was equally impressive—high-quality, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The ambience at Parker’s Tavern is what truly sets it apart. The interior strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making it ideal whether you’re there for a casual drink or a more special outing. It’s right in the city center, just beside Parker’s Piece, so it’s easily accessible whether you’re a local or visiting Cambridge. It’s a great spot to chill with friends, enjoy a date night, or even bring your family for a relaxed yet refined outing. I didn’t book a stay this time, but after this visit, it’s definitely on my list for next time. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for quality food, drinks, and a memorable atmosphere in the heart of Cambridge.
Trending D — Google review
Parker’s Tavern is traditional, polished, but not pretentious. it's inside the University Arms Hotel, it feels like stepping into a modern twist on a grand old dining hall. The menu celebrates British classics done properly (yes, the roast is worth the hype), and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for a five-star setting.
Russell R — Google review
Fabulous lunch at the Parker’s Tavern. The venue is a tasteful mix of old and new and has a great atmosphere. Food was excellent and reasonably priced - loved the cheese straws, burger and the cheesecake. Carlos and his team were knowledgeable, discrete and provided an impeccable service. My new favourite place in Cambridge - can’t wait to return for the Friday night jazz!!!
Am W — Google review
We had after tea and had a fantastic time. The food and service were excellent the atmosphere as well. What did disapoint us was a heavy charge for a bottle of water. We were asked if we wanted water and we said yes. We thought this might be included in our afternoon tea package. As we went to leave we were asked to pay, we thought, what for? Anyway we had to pay £8 for this which we thought was high. The waiter should have mentioned this and gave us the option for tap water or bottled water. Anyway we still had a great time but this left a sour note.
Roy M — Google review
I had an amazing experience today with my twin sister for our birthday meal. FOH and the waiters were great. So friendly and always had a smile on their face. No issues at all! This was our first time here and it definitely won't be our last!

We visited for afternoon tea on our anniversary. The Place is lovely, and you can take some beautiful pictures! The food included a selection of sweets and sandwiches, which were delicious, along with unlimited tea and coffee. Our hostess was Vasilia; she was kind and frequently checked if we needed anything. I loved the experience and highly recommend it!

Breakfast at Parker’s Tavern was a true pleasure during our stay at the University Arms, setting the tone for calm and beautifully paced mornings. The space feels elegant yet inviting, with refined details that make it easy to settle in and unwind. We tried the poached eggs on avocado toast and the full English—both expertly prepared, full of flavour, and presented with care. The coffee was smooth and perfectly balanced, a lovely complement to the relaxed atmosphere. Mariana looked after us both mornings with such warmth and grace, attentive in a way that felt sincere and effortless. Her kindness made the experience feel especially personal and memorable.

Our first High Tea arrangement at Parker's Tavern, Cambridge, UK, was as expected a high point of that day in Cambridge. Enjoying the esteamed quality of the surrounding, staff and high tea arrangement was an amazing experience of flavours. Absolutely recommended to take your best friends there for a treat or just be selfish and go there from time to time your self.

Conveniently located just a short walk from the town center and close to the train station, it's an ideal base for exploring Cambridge.
A fantastic hotel. Very convenient location by the train station and walking distance to the city centre. The rooms are very large and the bed is massive and like sleeping on a cloud! The whole place is beautifully decorated and clean. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

BEST BED EVER! Me and my husband both thought the hotel was amazing. The room was a good size, clean, comfortable, well decorated and had everything that we needed for our stay. The gentleman that welcomed us on reception was friendly and very helpful. The dining staff were also lovely and food was nice. If we visit Cambridge again we will 100% use this hotel again. Thank you so much for making our stay comfortable. The bed was honestly the best bed we have ever slept in!

Spacious room with balcony and by far the most comfortable bed I have slept on. Easy access to the train station and walking distance to the city center. The staff are professional and friendly, too many to name personally but a special thank you to our barman Yuki who made the best vodka martini and kept his calm whilst being berated by some horrible customers. Clayton hotel be proud of this young man. The sliding bathroom door needs to be addressed as it kept sliding open.

A truly modern and friendly hotel in an ideal location close to the station. The lobby is especially welcoming, featuring a fireplace, comfortable chairs, and antique books—it feels genuinely cozy. The Executive King Room on the 6th floor was lovely. It featured thick carpeting, an extremely comfortable bed, and high-quality linens, ensuring a great night's sleep. The view over the new part of Cambridge, stretching out to distant fields and hills, was a nice touch. The spacious bathroom offered a large shower with excellent water pressure and consistent temperature. The English breakfast is high quality. I particularly liked the flexibility to order eggs exactly as desired (omelets, poached, etc.). The entire staff was consistently friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning here.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay in this hotel. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The facilities were good and everywhere was nice, clean and tidy. Guests can indulge in award-winning dining at the 2 AA Rosette kitchen and enjoy amenities such as a health spa, indoor pool, restaurant, lounge, and bar.
We booked 2 rooms as we were meeting friends that evening. The rooms were spotlessly clean, comfortable and pleasant. We booked to eat, 6 adults and a child, and the food was of a superb quality. Maybe the portions were a little small. The service from the hotel team was exceptional. From the moment we approached Reception to the entire experience of dining. Friendly, polite and helpful one and all, Leo and Piotr were magnificent, nothing was too much trouble and all with a smile. We stayed the one night before travelling back North and can say that our experience was ideal. Value for money and highly recommend

A 2-night visit with friends, a 20 minute drive (taxis) back into the City, about £18. Modernised to a high standard, with accommodation in a number of separate outbuildings, with extensive facilities, being a Corporate Events & Wedding Venue. Well trained and efficient, helpful staff made our visit trouble free and our group was looked after very well during our evening dinner. While the main restaurant is not large, there is a separate, larger room for wedding & Corporate events. Rooms are spacious & well appointed, with a good sized bathroom, everything worked as it should. Despite proximity to the always busy main A14 trunk road, noise from passing traffic was negligible. For our two visits into the city, we used taxis. Cambridge is renowned for not being car-friendly and expensive to park. Alternatively, there is park & ride <10 minutes away.

However I paid extra at the time of booking for a glass of Prosecco which I was never given even after asking the staff at Reception. I also did not get a refund as I was told by the staff the establishment does not issue any refund. It's a shame, as it unfortunately kind of taints what was otherwise a very nice experience.

We stayed in standard double room, which is tired, cramped, and stuffy - general maintenance was lacking - bedside bulb not working, curtains not fitting and kettle was dirty and very small. Facilities are not in line with a 4 star rated hotel. The spa is run separately and charged for everything, despite us being hotel residents and booking spa treatments! For example, no complimentary coffee, no robes or slippers provided without additional charge. The poolside looks tired with raised tiles covered with a carpet tile. Jacuzzi was far too hot with difficult access and very cramped with only 2 people in it! The spa treatments were excellent. The bar and restaurant staff were very good. However, we discovered the lunchtime menu was the same in the evening, which had limited choice and again not in line with a 4-star - although the prices were! This was booked for a surprise birthday treat. On arrival, the receptionist clearly had not read the booking details and tried to charge again for breakfast and take credit card details. Overall, he was not very discreet or engaging for front of house.

We only used the Spa, not the hotel so all comments are related to the Spa. I booked an afternoon package including treatments for two and a glass of Prosecco each. The spa facilities are small and tired. The sinks in the ladies changing rooms were covered in soaking wet towels as the air-conditioning unit is leaking for what looked like some time. The staff were unprofessional in the main as they were too busy chatting to each other to attend to us. We were never offered the glass of prosecco we paid for. We did enjoy the treatments which are offered in a much nicer area than the general spa area. I'm afraid if you go expecting luxury or attention to detail you will be disappointed.

We pay £56 for two spa day for 45 mins salt scrub and aromatherapy bath experience. The place is tiring and poorly maintained. Hygiene is questionable with stain on towels and bath tub area. We were given 30mins in the aromatherapy bath instead of 45 mins. The salt scrub smells artificial. We left before 30min is up and the experience was poor. We didn’t have access to sauna and jacuzzi area. Again the place doesn’t feel comfortable and relaxing for us. We would not come again.

Incredible service from Claire (receptionist) who went above and beyond to accommodate all the requirements. The treatments in the spa were outstanding, cannot complement the two therapists enough and could have spent an absolute fortune if there was more availablity. All the staff were very polite, chatty and helpful- nothing seemed too much!

Six is a chic rooftop restaurant and bar located on the 6th floor of The Varsity Hotel in Cambridge. It offers stunning panoramic views of the city skyline, making it an ideal spot for drinks and rooftop dining. The intimate atmosphere and mouth-watering menu make it a popular choice for couples looking for a romantic evening. Additionally, Six serves afternoon tea with freshly made finger sandwiches, scones, jam, cakes, and teas created by master blenders.
We had booked a table well in advance, and as it was a lovely summer evening, we wanted to sit outside. When we were asked upon our arrival about our seating preference, we indicated that accordingly. Somehow I had expected to be taken to the iconic roof terrace, which I had heard about, but instead we were guided to a table on the balcony (on the lower floor). Not sure whether tables on the roof terrace need to be specifically booked in advance, and I guess I should have asked. Anyway - we did very much enjoy the outside table and the view. Service was ok (though could have been a tad bit more attentive). The food was great! I ordered the Prime Fillet Steak with mashed potato. The meat was cooked to perfection (medium-rare) and very tender, the mash very smooth and creamy. As a side, I had ordered the Broccoli with Chilli and Garlic, though it was not quite as spicy as I had expected. But definitely a great meal with a great view, and I will surely come back next time I'm in Cambridge (then perhaps with a table on the roof terrace?).

Located on the top of the Varsity Hotel, this restaurant has a lovely view of the city and is a really nice place to go for a meal. Service was friendly and food came out relatively fast. We ordered two fish dishes which were both very nice, though it would have been nice if it had come with more on the side (sides have to be ordered separately).

Whilst the food was enjoyable, it didn’t quite live up to the price point. The chips were fairly average and my burger, although fine, felt underwhelming given the cost. The quality just didn’t match the expectations set by the pricing. However, the setting was beautiful. And had a great dessert cocktail! Overall, a lovely visit, but the food fell a little short considering the price.

I had the most delightful evening here, the bar was lovely and made far lovelier by the amazing bartender who made me two bespoke drinks which were both completely delicious. The food was equally fabulous as was the service, who catered to my mum’s allergies with a great attention to detail. 10/10 place !!

The hotel absolutely exceeded my expectations. Beautiful room with a wonderful view of Cambridge's old buildings. In the evening, we had the opportunity to enjoy the restaurant, which has a beautiful view of the surrounding area @sixcambridge The food was top-notch. Whitebait, Sunday roast, and a perfectly matching bottle of South African wine. Cambridge will remain in my memory forever Instagram @dininginlondon

We enjoy a visit to Six for special occasions. The food is always absolutely delicious and piping hot. Last night’s ribeye steak was amazing and so delicious it just melted in the mouth. Huge choice of cocktails to enjoy. Biscoff sundae is a winner!

Perched elegantly above the city, The Six rooftop restaurant at The Varsity Hotel is nothing short of sublime—a jewel in Cambridge’s culinary crown. With sweeping views of the historic skyline and a refined atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between modern chic and old-world charm, this is a dining experience that lingers in memory long after the final bite. Our party indulged in a trio of masterfully prepared dishes: the Moroccan lamb skewer—succulent, aromatic, and grilled to tender perfection; the shrimp couscous—delicate yet bursting with Mediterranean flair; and the chicken curry—a rich, warmly spiced revelation that would give any Michelin-starred menu a run for its money. Dessert, however, was where The Six ascended to gastronomic greatness. The homemade apple crumble was comfort incarnate, but it was the sticky toffee pudding that truly stole the show—lush, decadent, and perfectly balanced. It has instantly entered our Top 5 Puddings of All Time list, and justifiably so. The handcrafted cocktails were bespoke brilliance. The Basil Grande—a fragrant, herbaceous concoction—was positively divine, each sip a celebration. Service throughout was attentive yet unobtrusive, befitting the restaurant’s upscale tone. Even the restroom experience deserves applause: immaculate facilities stocked with Elemis products—a luxe touch that perfectly echoes The Six’s commitment to excellence in every detail. A word to the wise: reservations are essential—this is not the sort of place you stumble upon; it’s a destination. And rightly so. After a serene afternoon punting on the River Cam with Scudamore’s, The Six is the ideal capstone to a fabulous day out in Cambridge. A meal here isn’t just dinner—it’s an occasion. Quite simply, posh perfection.

I came to Restaurant Six for lunch, and I was really impressed! The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing — everything looked so elegant. The table and menu were very clean and neat, which made a great first impression. The view of the city from the restaurant was absolutely stunning. The service was amazing — I was served by a lovely girl named Bina and another one named Maria. They were both so kind, positive, and attentive. As I understood, the manager was also there; he came to check if everything was fine, which I really appreciated.

The hotel overlooks the River Cam and provides easy access to tourist attractions like Kettles Yard gallery and Fitzbillies. Guests can enjoy the modern brasserie and rooftop terrace at SIX, which offers stunning views of the city along with delicious cocktails. The hotel also features a gym, spa, and valet parking near the River Cam.
What a stunning view of Cambridge from the rooftop bar. My friend who completed the booking thought he'd booked the rooftop bar but accidentally booked a table in Six the restaurant... we were later advised when we arrived that the rooftop bar does not take bookings so don't waste time looking to make one on the website. There's lots of seating/tables although it was fairly busy when we went. Lots of cocktails to choose from. Enjoy!

Sadly, the tablet in the room did not work, which otherwise would have been quite useful. HOWEVER, this slight glitch was more than counterbalanced by the excellent service we got in reception and the Six restaurant at breakfast. We had arrived early, but reception looked after out luggage and until it was time to check in. Their valet parking was quick and efficient. Breakfast was tasty and filling, with attentive and efficient service. The location is stunning, crowned by the views form the rooftop bar (bring a hat and sunglasses if its sunny though!).

It’s a central and nice hotel, offering comfy rooms, together with a lot of facilities including gym, spa! The rooms are clean and some of them look onto the street which is great. It’s located in a very nice spot, where you can walk the city. You can do punting by the river just 5 mins again. The hotel is clean, rooms are amazing, the rooftop restaurant & bar is amazing and the staff is so nice. There is a nice view on the rooftop restaurant. We went there for a tesm retreat, corporate event and they did their best to accommodate us amazingly. In means of pricing, it’s a bit pricey but reasonable compared to their quality service. Highly recommended!

We visited Cambridge for a little getaway from London and spent one night at The Varsity Hotel. It truly exceeded our expectations! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with a welcoming and stylish atmosphere. The reception team was incredibly kind and helpful. We also had dinner at their steakhouse restaurant, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was 10/10 and the staff’s hospitality made it even more special. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would definitely recommend The Varsity Hotel to anyone visiting Cambridge!

Great location - but the Six restaurant is quite disappointing especially factoring in the prices. Our party had 2 duck, both were luke warm, side order chips were also cold. Pizzas were OK but no different than Wetherspoons - side order broccoli was very damp, likely cooked from frozen although I can’t be sure. 12.5% service charge is also added - makes for an expensive and underwhelming experience. Would recommend for just drinks on the roof top terrance but you can get better quality, much cheaper food elsewhere.

The Gonville Hotel is a luxurious establishment housed in an 1830s property, offering elegant rooms, a refined restaurant, and a spa. This posh hotel in Cambridge provides a unique experience with classic cars available for hire and an indulgent afternoon tea featuring a variety of loose-leaf teas and delectable sandwiches.
Without a shadow of a doubt the best hotel to stay in when in Cambridge. We stayed here on the evening of our wedding and the staff were so helpful, efficient and friendly. They left us a complimentary bottle of fizz and a congratulations card. We have stayed many times since and have always had a wonderful stay.

We had a really lovely stay here. Loved the decor, the bed was extremely comfortable, the gardens lovely, and the bathroom spacious. The on-site parking was also a massive bonus. Location is excellent— very easy walking into the city center. Breakfast was also very good, with decent coffee. We stayed in one of the bigger King rooms in the other building because I really wanted a bath tub. I felt that the bathrooms could’ve been better cleaned: the tub needed a good scrub, and the shower spout had mold on it. My only other complaint is the additional charge for parking. For a hotel of this price, and given the amount of space they have, I think complimentary parking would be a really appreciated perk. But all in all, an excellent hotel with great service, and I would definitely stay again.

We stayed at this lovely hotel on 27-28 of september as a treat night away from our children. We loved the hotel and the bar was beautiful. We felt that the room was a little bit too small for us but the bathroom was lovely, bright and big. I have lefr a one star because of 2 things 1. The bathroom toilet brush was very dirty and felt that was not acceptable at a 4* hotel and needed a change. 2. We were really looking forward to a long nights sleep as you can imagine when you have kids that does not happen a lot. When we turned the light off to go to bed we noticed that the emergency exit light was so bright we wont be able to sleep. We noticed that the light had its cap missing and thats why it was much brighter than it supposed to be. We called the reception and night manager came and advised they cant do anything with it and they dont have any spare rooms for us to move. He advised to speak to manager in the morning. At our checkout receptionist advised that she wont be able to do anything about it but will take down our details and manager will get in touch with us. We waited few days and my partner wrote an email asking for an update on the situation however we are still waiting on a reply. We feel that every hotels main responsibility is to ensure that their guests get a good nights sleep and in this situation we were left in a bright room to sleep which was very hard and ruined our night away. We understand that night manager might not be allowed to touch the emergency exit light under normal circumstances but as per the pictures attached its clear that this one is broken and lights up all the room. We feel that solution should have been found at the time even if its a tape over it to cover the light a little. Following this review the management has been in touch and refunded us 50% of the price.

The hotel was not what I expected. I feel it’s all style but lacks the functionality. The room I stayed in had a few issues: the window that does not stay open (also opens about 20 percent), the lack of view (facing another building), the basic mini fridge that was not on and does not get cold properly (on/off only), a constantly flickering light bulb, and the ancient air conditioning system that has no control of keeping a constant temperature… my bathroom only had a rainfall shower head, which I suppose makes cleaning challenging? The surface of the bathtub was not clean on my check-in so gave up on having a bath. Parking was possible only if a space is available, first come first serve basis, for £28 per night. I only found it out after booking a room and contacting them, so I just decided to leave it at a park&ride. The bed was comfortable and the location was superb, and it looks nice on the outside. Nothing extraordinary with the staff members, the reception staff was rather indifferent. All in all, a huge disappointment. Would expect everything to be smooth and comfortable at a 4 star hotel.
Suin C — Google review
Unfortunately we found the hotel to be over rated and a bit of a disappointment. The most positive aspect was that everyone that worked there was very lovely and friendly, from Abby at the font desk to the head of housekeeping and the hard working waiters that we encountered. We had to change our first room because it smelled like urine. Staff was more than happy to help us switch spaces. We found our second room to be outdated and it seemed unvacuumed and a little worn and dirty (we found a lipstick container and other evidence on the floor). However the bathroom was clean and more modern. Lovely shower. The lobby and outer spaces were very nice and had an elegant feel. Breakfast was sub par. The buffet went un-replenished of various things both days. The breakfast cooked food lacked inspiration and tasted mediocre. We had to send back a full english breakfast because it was cold and unpleasant tasting (sausage and hash browns in particular). The self serve morning coffee situation was unfortunate as well, creating a long queue of guests until the machine broke. Also, attempts to pre arrange for a take away breakfast accommodation at 6:30am were not met despite several requests and attempts. All in all, it was a series of small and medium disappointments that left us feeling that we had been a bit hustled by a place resting on its laurels. Although it seemed that staff tried their best with what they had to work with.

From the moment I arrived at the Gonville Hotel, I knew my stay was going to be something special. The drive up was absolutely beautiful, setting the perfect tone for what was to come. There was ample parking, which made everything easy and stress-free. I arrived quite early and asked if I could leave my car before check-in, and the team were more than happy to accommodate, which I really appreciated. As I stepped into the hotel, I was met by the beautiful Abi at reception, who greeted me with warmth and genuine hospitality. Abi was incredibly helpful, professional, and accommodating, the ideal first impression. We spent some time exploring the city centre before returning for check-in, which was handled smoothly and efficiently. Everything felt effortless, and the service throughout was faultless. This wasn’t my first stay at the Gonville, and it’s easy to see why we decided to return. The standard of service here continues to shine. Our room was in immaculate condition. It was beautifully styled, welcoming, and exuded comfort and elegance. From the moment I stepped in, I knew my break was going to be truly beautiful. We had also booked a Bentley Drive Tour of Cambridge, which took place the following morning. Our guide, Zain, was an absolute pleasure. He is a true fountain of knowledge when it comes to Cambridge’s history and culture. His storytelling was captivating, and he brought the city to life in such a memorable way. We learned so much, and his passion made the experience feel personal and enriching. I would happily book a tour with him again, as he is a real credit to the Gonville Hotel. For dinner on our first evening, we were looked after by Robert, the Food and Beverage Manager. His service was exceptional, warm, attentive, and genuinely polished. He has a wonderful way of making guests feel special, and the food was beautifully prepared and presented. The experience was flawless. On the second evening, we dined again and were served by Nico, who was equally outstanding. He was incredibly accommodating and attentive, ensuring we were looked after the entire evening. He made sure that we were always comfortable, our glasses were never empty, and we wanted for nothing. His professionalism and kindness elevated the whole experience. Breakfast was good, though I did notice that it has slightly declined compared to last year. It’s still enjoyable, but it no longer feels as luxurious as before. However, my only true disappointment with the Gonville is the change in toiletries. I really dislike the downgrade from Penhaligon’s to Urban Apothecary. It just does not work. The fig scent is unpleasant, lacks character, and simply doesn’t match the class and sophistication of the Gonville. In all honesty, it stinks. The change cheapens what is otherwise a five-star experience, and for me, it genuinely affected the overall enjoyment of my stay. Despite this, the Gonville Hotel remains a beautiful, elegant place with outstanding service and exceptional staff. Abi, Zain, Robert, and Nico each played a part in making our stay truly special, and they deserve the highest praise.

Staff very attentive and knew what they were doing, we did the Bentley tour with Mike, which we really enjoyed. Food nice, beds very comfortable, great water pressure in the shower, and they had conditioner! My only complaint would be the sound of the music carried up through the ceiling, and you could hear the person walking above, this didn't bother my mother in the room, but it did bother me, I had ear plugs with me so I was able to put them in to go to sleep.
Rochelle S — Google review
We had a wonderful stay at the Gonville hotel the 2 nights following our wedding day. They very kindly had arranged a complimentary bottle of prosecco and handwritten card in our room to congratulate us which was a lovely touch. The location was great, just on the outskirts of the city centre with some nice cafes and restaurants nearby. We managed to get a booking for the Bentley experience which was such a lovely part of our stay and our driver Mike was fantastic. We also both had a massage in the spa with Siobhan who was kind enough to fit us in last minute and did an amazing job.

Brasserie
British restaurant
Browns Cambridge is a classic British brasserie and bar offering a grand cafe setting. Established in 1973, this chain boasts a menu featuring both classic and seasonal dishes, as well as signature cocktails. Many of its locations are situated in unique landmark buildings with historic or national significance. The restaurant offers a gluten-free menu with high-quality seasonal dishes made from fresh ingredients. Browns also hosts lobster nights and afternoon tea events.
Food was very good and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was beautiful and bar menu was generous. Could have used more service staff but the staff there was great.
Charlie F — Google review
The restaurant looks amazing both inside and out, but unfortunately the service and cleanliness really let it down. We were seated at a table where all the water glasses were extremely dirty, which was disappointing. A member of staff was walking around with a sweeper in hand without any clear purpose, she could have been more helpful by bringing our drinks, which took 15 minutes to arrive (and the place wasn’t even busy). On the positive side, the food itself was excellent, although the lobster portion was far too small for the price. Sadly, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. Our waiter’s exaggerated, casual manner of speaking (“Heeellooo, what can I get youuuu”) felt unprofessional and insincere, making the experience uncomfortable. Reminded me of American teenager in movies Overall, while the food was enjoyable, the service and atmosphere didn’t justify the high prices. Either the service needs to improve by about 15%, or the prices should come down by 15% to reflect the reality.

Came here late SEP2025. The ambiance and atmosphere is special and inviting. Live piano music was a very welcome addition to dinner. There was a 3-course special menu that we chose to use. My wife got a passion fruit and mango drink that was adequate. The appetizers were parsnip soup and a beetroot tartare. The beetroot was quite lovely and the soup was creamy, yet not much flavor (me wanting a stronger parsnip or other various flavors). Our entrees were butternut squash risotto and a seabass. The seabass was lovely and exceptionally tasty. The risotto barely had the slightest flavor of butternut squash and thus left a bit to be desired. The dessert was chocolate mousse and an ice cream with a specialty flavor I cannot remember. Both were decent. I’d go back to Browns for the ambiance and service (stellar). I’d probably just get tea or coffee or the Sunday roast.

Yesterday we visited Brown’s Cambridge for the very first time, and it was a truly wonderful experience. I am a regular customer at Brown’s in Bluewater, London, so I was curious to see how this location compared and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and professional. The team made us feel welcome straight away. The restaurant itself is stunning: the décor is elegant and stylish, with a relaxing atmosphere that feels both refined and inviting. Every detail, from the lighting to the table setting, creates a perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The highlight of our lunch was without a doubt the dessert. Both the crème brûlée and the tiramisu were simply outstanding, creamy, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. With the tiramisu, I felt like I was instantly transported back to Italy with just one bite 🤭. It was the perfect ending to a lovely meal. A very special thank you goes to our waitress, Momoka (I believe that was her name). She was truly a ray of sunshine. Her warm personality, kindness, and genuine care made our experience unforgettable. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and her smile made all the difference. ✨ Exceptional service, a beautiful and elegant setting, and food that delights the senses. Brown’s Cambridge has it all. Thank you to the entire team for making our first visit so memorable. I will definitely be returning! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

University Arms Hotel, Autograph Collection is a refined establishment that offers spacious rooms adorned with Edwardian style. The hotel features a bar, restaurant, and gym. Situated near Parkers Piece, it has a traditional upscale ambiance in the lobby and dining area with picturesque views.
We spent 8 nights at the University Arms from July 27 to Aug 4. Overall, we had a great time. We had a room with park-view without terrace. Upon arrival, we got a bowl of fruits as a thank-you for our rather long stay. The only two issues we encountered during our stay were: - No shower curtain so water spilled onto the floor, requiring a lot of towels to keep the floor dry - Light/lamp next to the door was flashing from time-to-time; it will likely blow soon so it would need replacement

Returned to Cambridge for the weekend and stayed once again at the University Arms. It was just as special as I remembered. The building is full of charm, and the interiors are elegant and inviting, with every detail carefully considered. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming from the moment you arrive. We booked a Superior Park View Room, and it was absolutely worth it. Spacious, peaceful, and overlooking Parker’s Piece, it felt like a proper escape. Everything we needed was in place, and the small touches throughout made the stay feel effortless. The service was excellent from start to finish. Margherita was helpful and efficient during the booking, and Lucia and Ana gave us a warm and friendly welcome at check-in. Breakfast each morning was a real highlight. The food was delicious, and the setting relaxed, but what stood out most was the service. Mariana looked after us both mornings with such care and kindness. She made the start of each day feel genuinely special. You can tell Philip, the new GM, is making a real difference. There’s a quiet confidence in how everything runs, and a real sense of pride across the team. Already looking forward to coming back.

August 2025 was my 2nd time at this hotel. I really enjoy coming here. The location is in city center and just minutes from the shopping and market areas but in the midst of some of the colleges. The facade of the hotel is stunning. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. Receptionists and concierge are considerate. I would certainly come back. This hotel is good for a solo traveler or families. The breakfast server, Bianca, is excellent. She recalls your dietary or preferences from day to day for breakfast. Pleasant and efficient. It was a very good stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the University Arms Hotel in Cambridge. Fleur and Jody (both working at the reception of this hotel) were really helpful, offering excellent personal service and sharing great tips that helped us get to know the city better. Their friendly approach made our visit even more enjoyable. The hotel itself is elegant and comfortable, with a welcoming atmosphere. I would highly recommend the University Arms Hotel to anyone visiting Cambridge.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this Marriott was so shockingly bad that I feel others deserve to be warned. reception manager was rude, racist, dismissive, and with arrogant attitude. When the receptionist was kindly checking availability for me, this manager barged in, cut her off mid-sentence, and snapped at me — without even looking at the system — “your room is not ready.” No greeting, no explanation, no apology. Then she walked away like I wasn’t worth her time. That is not “misunderstood tone,” that is sheer unprofessionalism. And ten minutes later, when few white male guest enters the reception, she is suddenly polite and offered them room immediately, even though they arrive later then me. To make matters worse, the room I was eventually given had filthy, stained carpets and visible mould damage. I attached photos in my complaint — the stains were large, disgusting, and absolutely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that dares to brand itself as “luxury.” Hygiene clearly isn’t a priority here. When I complain there is a mould place in my room, the hotel said is just a water leaking damage, is not mould, you are fine to stay in. So that’s how they work now? Is ok to put your guest in a water leaking room as long as is not mould. And what was Marriott’s solution? Instead of accountability, they gave excuses. Let me be clear: the front desk receptionist, cleaning team, and restaurant staff were polite and professional. They do their jobs well. But the management culture here is rotten — and that matters more than anything. A hotel where management treats paying guests with contempt cannot be trusted. If you value respect, professionalism, and basic hygiene, stay anywhere else.

Gorgeous hotel. Stayed in the terrace suite and loved the traditional design of the bathroom - so regal and elegant. The staff were fab and loved the fresh milk in the fridge. Great location, very clean room and so much space! Would stay here again.

Decided to treat ourselves and booked 5 nights for what should have been a relaxing break. We were offered room 137, a bleak and uninspiring room directly overlooking some scrap ground at the back of a Thia restaurant. The room had only a tiny wardrobe with no drawers or other storage facilities what so ever. Totally insufficient for 2 people for a 5 night stay. There was also no comfortable seating, no other furniture apart from a small desk and chair and no smart TV. We complained and were told we could have a better room the next day as the hotel was currently full. We hadn't realised at that point however just how awful the bed was! It was creaky and rock hard and felt like sleeping on a table top that dipped in the middle. No padding or spring at all. We had a terrible night's sleep and couldn't believe that a hotel of this supposed quality would expect guests to sleep on such an appalling structure. We both felt so disappointed and couldn't decide if the hotel had put us in this room as we are two women and they thought we wouldn't complain. We decided we couldn't stay any longer and told the front desk we wanted to check out. They even added an extra 10% as we had only stayed one night, which neither of us had the energy to argue about so we just paid and left. We called in at the Gonville hotel a short walk across the park. Josh the duty manager found us a lovely room with loads of storage, a huge, very comfortable bed, smart TV and a lovely view. He even included breakfast and a complimentary tour in their Bentley! All that and we saved £800 into the bargain. A complete no brainer!! I do need to add that the reception staff we spoke to at the University Arms were absolutely lovely and very helpful and reading their hotel reviews it appears others have a much better experience than us but this is a genuine review so be warned!!!

Nestled in the heart of Cambridge, Hotel du Vin Cambridge offers 41 luxurious rooms and suites that blend historic charm with modern amenities. The hotel's Bistro du Vin is a highlight, featuring an inviting ambiance and serving classic dishes. Housed in a Grade II listed building, the hotel preserves its heritage while providing comfortable accommodations with custom-made beds, Egyptian cotton linen, and spacious bathrooms.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel DuVin and I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with such warmth and hospitality. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, offering a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and incredibly cozy, providing a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. What truly set this stay apart was the exceptional service I received from Kalpana who went above and beyond to make my stay memorable, always with a smile and eager to assist with any requests. Whether it was offering local recommendations, ensuring my room was always pristine, or simply providing a welcoming presence, She made me feel right at home, such an asset. It's rare to experience service so genuine and thoughtful, and I truly appreciate the care and attention to detail that Kalpana provided. I will absolutely be recommending this hotel to everyone.

We would especially like to commend the girl ,,Kalpana at reception for her exceptional service and attention to detail, which made our visit seamless and memorable

The hotel itself is charming, with a perfect mix of modern amenities and historical character, all set in a beautiful location. What really made my stay exceptional, though, was the service. Kalpana, the manager, was simply amazing. From the moment I arrived, she went out of her way to ensure that I had everything I needed, offering helpful recommendations and creating a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Her attention to detail and willingness to assist with anything, from restaurant reservations to local tips, really stood out. It's rare to encounter someone so dedicated and professional, and Kalpana truly elevated the whole experience. If you're looking for a memorable stay in Cambridge, I highly recommend Du Vin. The combination of fantastic service, especially from Kalpana, and the lovely setting made my visit one I won't soon forget.

We had delicious dinner in Bistro du Vin and will be very happy to come back! The staff was very welcoming and friendly and made sure we’ve got everything we needed. We enjoyed delicious food and the nice intimate atmosphere of the restaurant. It’s similar style at the Ivy in city center but nicer and more quiet, perfect for a family dinner or romantic date.

Had a really lovely stay at Hotel du Vin in Cambridge. The hotel has a great atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and is in a perfect location for exploring the city. The staff were all friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. A special thank you to Kai and Kalpana for their warm welcome and excellent service throughout the stay. They were both professional, kind, and made everything feel effortless. Thanks again to the whole team – I’d definitely come back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My stay at Hotel du Vin Cambridge was nothing short of amazing! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Thanks to Kai, who went above and beyond to make my experience exceptional. The room upgrade was a fantastic surprise, and the complimentary drink was a lovely touch—such a thoughtful gesture! The service was impeccable, and every detail was taken care of with professionalism and a smile. If you're looking for a cosy, elegant stay in Cambridge, this hotel is an absolute must. Thanks again, Kai! 🌟

Lovely hotel location and room decor. Restaurant food left a lot to be desired. From the taste of the food, and due to this being a chain, you can tell the food is brought in. My wife had the Bourguignon D'agneau, it was ridiculously salty. I noted this to the waitress, and was just told she would tell the chef. Location was great and staff hotel very helpful. I would avoid the restaurant though.

The highlight of this hotel is the staff - absolute superhumans! So friendly and charismatic. Special thanks to Patrick in the Bistro/Bar and Kai on Reception - you're a pair of star-spangled bangers! During my midweek stay, I was kindly upgraded to a larger room with a beautiful roll-top bath, and also treated to a couple of complimentary cocktails, which helped make a birthday trip even more special. The excellent air conditioning was appreciated during a heatwave, and the bed was exceedingly comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and very generous (although there was some confusion about whether or not the cost was included in my booking). This hotel is superbly positioned, too; you're moments away from the fabulous Fitzwilliam Museum. As others have noted, this building is getting on a bit and showing a little wear and tear, although apart from the multiple spiderwebs that greeted me upon arrival in the shower which made me wonder how thoroughly the bathroom had been cleaned/how industrious Cambridge's arachnids are, I found the slight creakiness charming. It's worth being aware that the hot taps are HOT: I accidentally ran a bath that could have skinned me alive! Be careful with small children washing their hands. Overall, a gem of a spot. I would happily return.

Good food good vibes and good prices. The coffee was good. I had the vegetarian breakfast. The vegetarian breakfast was quite good I do wish there was another vegetarian sausage. The service was quick and seating was nice. My dad had the full English which he said was very good

The service is excellent! You can feel how approachable the staff is when they attend to you. The food is also quite good; balanced and with a good quality-to-price ratio. I'm not surprised they’ve won three customer experience awards (though only in odd-numbered years :p )

Le Patissier, Cambridge serves English Tea with Scones and Baguettes. We relished their English Breakfast Tea with Scones, Butter and Jam. The Scones were freshly baked and delicious. The Tea had fine aroma and when we enquired about the source of the Tea; the owner was very gracious and presented us a packet of Tea Bags. It was truly generous of him and we are thankful. The place is cozy and the staff are friendly, helpful and great. A memorable experience.

This place is a family gem right across St John College. We got sumptuous Rowers breakfast and ham-Brie panini with a splash of banter between the owner and her friends stopping by for coffee. We even braved a lick of marmite!

The best scone I have ever eaten! Light and fluffy, not heavy. Lovely little old school cafe/tea room, great staff. We shared a cream tea and cake, "proper tea", lovely coffee and the cake and scone were delicious.

We first visited on spec because it looked clean on the outside and calm on the inside. A board outside with food and hot drinks info helped to make our decision. A happy relaxed greeting, prime seats in the window and we were cheerfully looked after. Coffees and ham with cheese paninis. Plenty of filling and you can have an included side salad the size of a bowl in the price, or exclude as we did. Other customers enjoyed huge scones and tea. A happy young team of keen, kind, funny cafe running participants. We returned today and had a BLT and Breakfast Baguette. Well made and large portions!! Fully recommended and with views of St John’s College grand entrance. Call in and enjoy.

North African restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in Cambridge, Bedouin offers a relaxed dining experience within a tent-like space adorned with carved wooden furniture. Established in 2011, the restaurant takes its name from the vast territory stretching from North Africa to the Middle East. The authentic North African atmosphere is set by a real Bedouin tent and Sahara wall rugs. It's popular among locals and students, so reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.
What a great place! Amazing ambience! Fantastic food! Excellent service! Lovely pickles dish to start with One fish tagine and one meatball tagine with rice and couscous and an extra tagine bread. Both very tasty and if you want to be really filled then go for the lamb meatball, so much cheese I was unsure I would be able to get up! This is a must visit place!
Brian D — Google review
A randomly selected North African-style restaurant It's really hard to imagine what comes up just based on the ingredients, allergens and cooking methods provided on the menu 😋Fortunately, I didn't make a mistake. The mutton, beef and fish I chose were all super flavorful. As for the main course, I highly recommend that pancake. It's a hundred times better than crushed rice 🥹Appetizer: a plate of pickles. Salt is free. 💔It's unpleasant that the business in the store is so good that we were urged to make way in 10 minutes before we finish our meals.
Xiaoling X — Google review
Very tasty food. Our dishes were especially fresh and healthy. Ambience is great. The restaurant has low cushioned seats, is lined with thick fabrics, and is nice and warm; you feel transported to another world. Attentive and helpful staff. I like that there is no alcohol on the menu. We got a small pot of mint tea which complemented our meal. The Arabic style eton mess dessert was divine. I also think it is great value for money
J L — Google review
Orded the prawns for the starter. The lamb and the marinated chicken as main. Lamb shank is so tender that it fell off the bone easily. All the dishes were full of rich spice aromas. and the bread tasted amazing with the sauce. The mint tea is refreshing. Great food.

Incredible experience, the food was fantastic and the service was second to none. We enjoyed every dish we ordered: The roast chicken (Djedj M’hamer), Tagine Kefte and Tagine Berkook. All the dishes were deliciously aromatic and very well presented. The service was incredible, the staff anticipated our needs and were beyond polite and friendly. The atmosphere transported us to another world. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it!
Khaled M — Google review
Had a fantastic Moroccan dinner, food was really tasty, perfectly seasoned with subtle spices, huge portions and reasonably priced. We had lamb meatballs, 2 different chicken dishes and a lamb shank stew. Would definitely recommend and go back again.
C K — Google review
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, service was pleasant & this review is based solely on the taste of food. After reading all these positive reviews, I thought I would make this my lunch treat of the day while visiting Cambridge. Server recommended the lamb shank at 23 quids. I love lamb & was highly disappointed when I tasted it. Felt like they boiled it in water till the meat was softened then rolled it around in some tomato base for 10min to warm up the watery sauce & plopped lentils in and a tasteless potato for looks. If meat was done right & stewed for an hour with spices, it should have taste & flavor! The bread they gave me had more salty flavors (albeit blah overall) than the meat. Very displeased & unhappy with this meal & truly would not recommend the lamb or maybe this restaurant overall.

Harriets Cafe Tearooms in Cambridge offers a charming, old-fashioned ambiance with the added bonus of live piano music and outdoor seating during the summer. It's renowned for its wide selection of teas, sandwiches, and cakes, making it an ideal spot for afternoon tea. The cafe also caters to dietary preferences with a substantial gluten-free menu and dairy-free options. Visitors can expect excellent service from friendly staff while enjoying traditional British fare like scones and English breakfast grill.
Lovely place for a tea lover, staff are very professional in my view, felt a bit posh but still a nice place nobody said anything negative to me. I had lemon verbana tea and traditional English breakfast grill which was nice and you get a choice of how you want eggs cooked.
Nathan — Google review
It’s a cute, small cafe but the quality of the Afternoon Tea is just average and quite pricey. The cheapest ‘Traditional Afternoon Tea’ is £17.50 and comes with the home brand tea, cakes, ham and egg sandwiches, and two small scones per person. While the scones are fresh and taste good, the cake was too sweet, none of us four could eat it. Overall not a good value for money.
Antonia M — Google review
It's always busy for weekend brunch. The atmosphere was nice and homy but the food was quite disappointing. The poached eggs in the vegetarian breakfast grill had wrinkled and rubbery egg whites. The avocado spread was clumsily meshed. Tea and coffee are fine but nothing special with the desserts either. Given the average quality of the food and a relatively slow service, it's definitely overpriced.
Janny — Google review
Won't return again, a tourist trap. Quite possibly the worst breakfast I have had. The coffee (which costs £4) lacks flavour, possibly because they don't use freshly grinded beans. I asked the eggs to be sunny side up and it came back completely cooked through. How can anyone mess up eggs? Especially in a "premium" restaurant. I thought it could be me but my friend's poached egg was also overcooked. Premium setting, premium pricing, appalling quality.
Hoi L — Google review
The shop was full of people, but we got decently fast service. The tee was nice, and the scone was decent. Everything was decent to try and experience the british things. The price was not that high, so I definitely recommend here. The staffs are nice enough to answer my questions.

Perfect spot for a lovely coffee for two. We tried their almond and Victoria sponge cake and they were both delicious. The staff was friendly and love the piano playing in the background!

An interesting visit, sadly never to be repeated. Although the staff we spoke to were all very friendly we we given two very dirty forks, we were served lose-leaf tea in pots but no strainer between us, there was no milk provided, no tea spoons, and the cake was average. 15min wait to be seated despite 8 places sitting unoccupied. For tourists this is undoubtedly a tragic experience, let's get some famous English Tea they said.

Little Cafe There was no heating service in the cafe, it means that everything would be just room temperature. The staff said the savoury pastries were just freshly baked, unfortunately the one we had was just room temperature. At least the pastry was genuinely good, it was full of fillings inside. The coffee was nice. The cafe was smaller than I thought, but at least there was a toilet available, unlike most of the cafes in Bury St Edmunds. The cafe and the toilet was clean. I will return to try the ice cream when the weather is warmer.

Ordered a lemoncello with my boyfriend. It literally was only lemon juice and CLUB SODA. Not traditional and even then it had no liquor and was disgusting. Absolutely my favourite café in and around Cambridge! They have reached and continue to maintain an excellent standard of cooking, with a concise but perfected menu of brunch masterpieces, and a delicious and beautiful selection of cakes. This is not a greasy spoon cafe - all the menu items are made with top notch ingredients, artfully prepared into delicious and elegant dishes. Lovely little cafe with rural and friendly atmosphere. Lunch was delicious, though for me it could have had half as much seasoning and would still be scrummy. It's slightly pricey, but I think that's reflective of the local fresh produce and in today's market I would say it's fair. Very quick service and dog friendly.

Lovely experience at Flock Cafe today, we both had the avo toast - very yummy! Coffee was on point 👌🏻 staff very friendly, professional and efficient! Thank you Gracie and all the girlies :)

EXORBITANTLY OVERPRICED. This venue is a cafe in one of many, what I believe to be, old farm buildings around what was a central farm yard area. The other buildings are occupied by arts and craftsy/ browse around bits and pieces type shops much like the shops you get in touristy villages in the Cotswolds etc. Nice to visit as a stop over but that's it. On my visit today I chose the "Crispy bacon and maple brioche French toast" from the Brunch Menu and a large Latte. This came in at £14.10. The toasy being £9 and £5.10 for the coffee!!! I was served quite quickly considering they were busy and the food came out in an appropriate amount of time. When it arrived the coffee was in a reasonable sized mug and saucer which would count as standard size in many places and was largely froth and lukewarm. The bacon and cheese toasty was minute. There was an approximately 3"×3" slice of toasted bread which may have been brioche with some melted cheese on it. 2 rashers of lean bacon, cooked but not crispy and drizzled with maple syrup with a miniature jug containing some more syrup. It took about a minute to eat and was nice but it would have been ovepriced at £3 let alone £9.

We arrived a little before 12:00 on a Monday. The patio was already busy but the inside was nicely quiet. We ordered 4 brunches, and each of them was delicious! We had a wonderful experience at The Garden House in Cambridge! Our group of nine people were served with outstanding care and attention. The staff were warm, accommodating, and made us feel truly welcome throughout our visit. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, and arrived promptly even with our large party. We really appreciated how smoothly everything went — a perfect spot for gatherings with exceptional service and atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Service moved like it had something better to do. We came for a relaxed Sunday roast and found ourselves timing each course like a slow chess game. Starters trickled out, mains took their time, and drinks required eye contact and quiet persistence. But let’s talk food. The roast beef arrived blushing pink, with that proper gravy-glossed sheen. Potatoes were golden and hot, the kind that collapse under the fork just enough to hold onto the jus. Chicken was moist, with skin that still had some crisp to it. The croquette — or whatever that crunchy ball was — added a nice punch of salt and texture. Mussels? Decent, though they whispered more than they sang. Burrata was safe but fresh, elevated a bit by olive oil and a citrus kick. The space is lovely, especially by the windows. Natural light, good wood, and enough soft edges to feel like someone designed it with care rather than trend-chasing. We didn’t rush, mostly because we couldn’t. Good for relaxed long lunches. Not for schedules

Booked a lunch reservation for Sunday Roast and, despite a little confusion at first, the staff quickly accommodated us with a lovely table outside on a beautiful day. The meal was absolutely delicious, the cocktails were spot on, and the dessert was super tasty. Highly recommend—and I’ll definitely be going back!

The table was in a lovely setting outside and over looking the lawn and river plus live music. The staff were very friendly. However, the starter arrived after 3 minutes of ordering, and before we even had cutlery. The main we had to chase, and it took 50 mins! The portion of Ravioli was 7 pieces...... the 4 prawns at £15 had nothing else on the plate. We had to sit with empty glasses for 10 minutes. Staff appeared ran off there feet due to multiple other functions.

Great village pub. Simple as that. Staff all friendly and the owner a top bloke. Food itself absolutely bang on point, doubt I’ll ever have a better Caesar Salad than what I’ve eaten here.

Delicious food and a great selection of wines. We shared the hummus and sourdough and an affogato. Absolutely divine. The water jug (fish-shaped) was gorgeous.

We stopped by here for a few drinks on our way through Grantchester and were so impressed with the gorgeous setting, great selection of drinks and in particular the excellent staff! Although we didn't have time to stay for food, the menu looked so good that we made a point of coming back two days later for a Sunday roast, which were cooked to perfection and hands down the best Sunday roasts we've had in a long time (the veggie wellington especially). They're also dog-friendly and have some really lovely outdoors spaces to sit and take in the surroundings. 10/10, highly recommend!

Hotel Felix is a charming Victorian-era villa located just a short drive from central Cambridge. The hotel features chic and airy quarters, an award-winning restaurant called Graffiti, and a polished bar. Guests can also enjoy the relaxed garden-facing terrace for informal lunches and al fresco dining. The hotel's Orangery offers seasonally-themed menus with a variety of fish, meat, and vegetarian options as well as traditional afternoon tea.
Found this hotel after searching for a dog friendly place in Cambridge, not too many. I know Cambridge really well having been born there but didn’t recall this hotel. It’s based about a 10 minute drive or half hour walk from the city centre. This was a short break to visit family and for my wife to have a chance to experience the excellent shopping in Cambridge. The hotel is easy to find and the staff are very efficient and friendly. Dogs are allowed in selected rooms, the orangery and the grounds. The room was plenty large enough and comfortable for 2 people and 2 large Labrador dogs. Good facilities including mini bar and powerful shower. The restaurant was excellent for dinner, breakfast and morning coffee can be taken in the orangery. Overall a very pleasant experience and will definitely return.

Attended Graffiti for a private dinner in the upstairs dining room - great ambiance. Food is good, although relatively small dishes which left a few at the table still peckish. Attentive service. The wine list is quite extensive, and the bar downstairs well stocked. We didn't stay at the hotel so no comment offered there.

Nice ambiance. Excellent sleep (mattress and pillows), calm and quiet. Rooms clean - too warm initially (in February), but adjustable. However, missed some adequate light in the bathroom for proper shaving and did not like the „techno“-type of „music“ that was forced on the people in the bar (an elder couple left because of the „noise pollution“). The server argued that the management insists in playing this (inappropriate) music. Well, if the personal opinion of the management counts more than the comments of the customers....

Comfortable rooms but appalling service. From the moment we arrived the service was lacking, there was a wedding on the same night and the staff could not cope with it and regular guests although it was a very small wedding. We were told we could not book dinner until 20:15 but when we came downstairs the restaurant was empty but it was almost impossible to get any waiter's attention. I was absolutely parched as I wasn't drinking wine and had to keep chasing the waiters to refill my water glass all evening. There was a complete lack of attention all evening. The food was good but it was my wedding anniversary and it was ruined. I don't recommend the place at all.
Maria E — Google review
Great hotel. The room was spacious and clean. Would have preferred a larger shower unit ( just me !). The staff are super friendly and helpful with great advice about the local area. It would have been 5 stars, it's just the cooked side of the breakfast for me wasn't up to scratch. A colleague order a full english, just a lack of care with the food. My scrambled egg with smoked salmon, a lot of egg not so much salmon. I think it would have been nicer, served as Eggs Royal. If you can do that Eggs Benedict / Florentine is that far off, unfortunately not offered on the breakfast menu. But the breakfast tea was really enjoyable.

Great up-market dog friendly hotel, after arriving we were greeted with a doggy goody bag. We ate with her in the orangery, were we had a big family lunch. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They boast large grounds to walk the dog, however it’s just a grassed boundary and garden area, nothing massive. The location was good with easy car access, however, you can walk straight for an hour to the centre of town. We were upgraded to a suite upon check-in, the room was spacious, great decor and facilities. The toiletries are the White Company. Overall amazing experience, we will return.
David L — Google review
Pretty good in many ways. Clean, tidy and good parking. About 20min brisk walk to the town centre. However, amateurish front of house in the restaurant and disorganised kitchen let this establishment down (possible there was a temporary staffing issue, so I'll give them another chance) 1- Denied breakfast which was included in the room as their list was inaccurate. Made to wait for them to check. 2 - Not shown where the buffet was and not told what was available. 3 - Made to order breakfast missing a poached egg. Had to request it. 4 - Table piled up with plates and had to ask more than once for a clear up.
Shrimper L — Google review
Excellent. We were upgraded on arrival which was a nice touch. The hotel was spotless and the staff very attentive. Though the hotel is on the outskirts of Cambridge it is only a 5 minute ride into the centre. Ample car parking at no charge is also a plus. Will return. Thank you.

Hot Numbers - Trumpington St Cafe is an independent espresso bar that has made a significant impact on the coffee scene in Cambridge. With its own micro-roastery, it offers a diverse coffee menu featuring flat whites and single-origin pour-over coffees. In addition to coffee, the cafe also serves wines from Thirsty and craft beers from Bacchanalia bottle shop.
My husband and I had a brunch here on Saturday. We weren’t able to pre book a table, but luckily managed to nab the last one available. My husband has the sausage sandwich and I had the bacon pancakes, which were great! The service was really quick and we loved how you can choose your coffee blend. We also thought it was reasonably priced for Cambridge. We really enjoyed our experience here and will be returning!

best coffee in Cambridge and the food is also super tasty and has for everyone different options. My favs was the breakfast especially with the bread which is so wonderful! they are experts for the bread and coffee roasting! it reminded me of the great coffees I had in Sydney and then I read that the owner had the idea inspired by his time in Melbourne. The coffee Australian coffee culture brought to UK, mixed with music events and high quality tasty healthy food made Hot Numbers my NO 1 Breakfast in Cambridge. We tried all their three locations and all if them had a great service with great coffee&food, the central location being of course bigger and also outside the city.

Best breakfast place and coffee !!!! Must visit if you’re around Cambridge. Loved their exotic food specially served. And loved the vibe of this place!!!

Lovely place! The staff are always friendly and welcoming. It’s a common choice for Engi students as it’s very close to the Engineering Department and convenient to grab a coffee for a quick refresh before heading back to work. If you go often, they’ll remember your name, which is a nice touch and makes you feel welcome. The price is a little above average but acceptable. I suggested they introduce a membership or loyalty card to reward frequent customers, but it seems they haven’t considered it yet. Overall, it’s a great spot for coffee, and I’ll be there often.

KIBOU Japanese Restaurant & Bar in Cambridge is a top choice for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with fresh and delicious options, including unique dishes like fried sushi. The interior is beautifully decorated, creating a charming atmosphere for diners. While the music may not match the setting, the professional service adds to the overall experience. Although prices are slightly higher than average, it's worth treating yourself to this exceptional dining experience.
Beautiful building, beautiful internal decor and delicious, authentic food. Upon entry we were greeted warmly by friendly staff and taken to our seats. Passing a stunning side room and through beautifully decorated corridor into another beautifuly decorated room. The staff were very kind, helpful and aware of allergens and dietary choices and helped us through the menu. Food arrived with allergen Pins in the gluten free dishes so there was no mistake of eating the wrong food. Food was freshly prepared and a good temperature and very full of flavour. Staff were attentive throughout. The toilets are up a few stairs but are as beautifully decorated as the rest of the building.
Kirsty T — Google review
The venue is impressively spacious, with well-spaced tables that make for a comfortable dining experience. The décor is thoughtfully done, and the service was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. We were celebrating a birthday and ordered a generous amount of food — perhaps slightly too much — but everything was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. The quality and authenticity of the dishes really stood out, and I can’t recommend this place highly enough. A few minor drawbacks: despite having a reservation, we had to queue for about 10 minutes to be seated. Last food orders also came around quite early, which felt a little rushed. The only disappointment with the food was the octopus dish — while the takoyaki (octopus dumplings) had delicious truffle shavings, the octopus itself was barely detectable, which left the dish feeling a bit underwhelming. That said, the rest of the meal was outstanding: * Seared scallops (3 pcs) – perfectly cooked and full of flavour * Kinko & greens itsame – hands down the best vegetable dish I’ve ever had - broccoli, mushrooms, and pak choi in an incredible sauce * Sushi surf and turf – absolutely delicious salmon and wagyu and beautifully balanced * Furikake seasoned rice – simple, flavorful, and a perfect side * Fried prawns – crispy * Chicken katsu curry – best quality chicken I’ve ever had in a katsu; tender and perfectly cooked * Wagyu Zukushi sharing platter – the highlight of the night! Rich, flavourful, and exactly what we came for. This alone will bring us back. To top it off, the birthday surprise — a slice of cake with a sparkler — was a lovely, subtle touch for someone who hates a big public fuss. We’ve already recommended this place to friends, and we’ll definitely be returning. Bonus points for the Grand Car Park just two streets away — very convenient for city dining.

Excellent Teishoku Set Menu, highly recommend trying this for lunch as we did for my wife's birthday at her request. Lovely surroundings altho it has hard floorings. The music is not Japanese and definitely not to my taste (but that's just me!). Something gentle and Japanese would be great! A birthday candle on a slice of chocolate pudding was an extra bonus! The staff even found my wife's earing!
Steven G — Google review
Good food, great service and nice atmosphere. Went there for a birthday. The place was a lot bigger than we expected, and the ambience was nice. The service staff were quite nice too, especially when we inadvertently made a mess. We ordered chef's nigiri selection, chicken shoyu noodle soup, sesame prawn bun and kids chicken Bento box. The noodle soup felt a bit too salty and soggy, but the other dishes were good. They even brought a slice of cake in the end for the birthday girl! We went in with the expectation that it was a slightly pricey place, so the menu prices felt all right. Yet there was a 12.5% service charge at the end, that left a bad taste.
Raziman T — Google review
Best sushi i’ve ever had!! And i’ve had a lot! Absolutely amazing atmosphere, food was phenomenal! Lovely staff, the only thing I’d say is that we felt a bit rushed and the tables are small but that’s being picky. Amazing! Definitely coming back!
Amy C — Google review
Very good. The server we had was awesome and did some good recommendations. We did have an issue where we were told we get 2 tiger prawns for the special and only got 1 and that was the servers mistake so gave us an extra as a sign of good will! But £12 a pop. Not worth it. Everuthing else was good execpt the snow crab rolls was too mayo-y and ruined the delicate flavour of the snow crab (couldn't taste it). Quite pricey might be better to just go for ramen and then have some sushi on the side than ball out on just sushi. We spent about £70 each and weren't full. Defo an experience rather than eating to get full.

KIBOU in Cambridge is gorgeous with the interiors thoughtfully done, a cherry blossom tree in the midst of service and nice Japanese vibes all around. The food is fresh and well presented. Wanted to try the wagyu but it was very expensive for a team dinner! Service was very slow and it isn't cheap either. There was a wedding dinner happening on the next table and seems like people drop in here for a special meal or celebration.

Baan Thai Street Food is a relaxed and airy eatery that specializes in serving authentic regional Thai dishes, including soups, curries, and noodle dishes. The menu offers an extensive selection of homestyle snacks and traditional favorites like Kao Pad Rod Fai. The restaurant's ambiance is characterized by large brass cake stands and friendly service. While the portion sizes are smaller compared to other Thai restaurants in the area, the food is described as flavorful without being overly oily or salty.
This is by far my favourite place to eat in Cambridge. The meat and chicken (not beef) is halal but also great for veggie and fish options. The food is always great, it’s consistent and portions sizes are great! The staff are friendly and there is nothing to fault with it. It’s always a top recommendation for any friends or family popping into Cambridge and everyone always thoroughly enjoys it!

Best Thai in the area. The staff are kind, courteous and helpful. The food was delicious: great starters, flavorful mains, and good drink options. The restaurant's decor is colorful and inviting. The restaurant also has wonderful views of the green and is located near many of the attractions in the city. Will definitely visit again.

Baan Thai Street Food is a lovely and authentic spot in Cambridge. The restaurant has a calm, relaxed atmosphere with fresh air and a cozy setting—perfect for enjoying a peaceful meal. The spicy soup was absolutely amazing—rich in flavor and perfectly balanced with heat. The salad was fresh and delicious as well. A great highlight for anyone who enjoys bold Thai flavors! They also offer a milder, contemporary soup that’s perfect for children or anyone who prefers non-spicy dishes, which is a thoughtful touch. Overall, a great experience with tasty food, a pleasant environment, and thoughtful menu options for everyone. Highly recommended!

God bless awesome best Thai food for a long time and I’ve been to Thai festivals and my partner has been to Thailand. He adored The spicy chicken. I had another type of chicken def go back there by Parker piece.

The service was friendly, but unfortunately the dish recommended by the waiter wasn’t what I was looking for. The flavor was quite average, and the milk tea was overly sweet and watery – lacking the richness I expected. The overall taste didn’t feel authentic, and it seemed like the kitchen might need more refinement. I hope the restaurant can improve on the accuracy of recommendations and the quality of the food.

I haven’t stayed overnight, but I come regularly with my baby for swimming classes. The pool is warm, the facilities are spotless, and the reception team is always welcoming. Special thanks to Victoria and her team for their kindness — even when my toddler spilled milk in the lobby, they were calm and understanding. A lovely, family-friendly place!

It was the first time we visited the fellows house and stayed for seven nights. First impression, beautiful and clean. The beds are very comfortable, kitchens are fully equipped and when we wanted to cook dinner we could get supplies from the Co-operative shop 2 mins away. We didn’t travel by car but we were very glad that bus stop is literally a min walk from the hotel entrance. Hotel Cafe has lovely cakes esp the rosé velvet one :-). Lovely and helpful staff members ( we really liked Dully who serves at the breakfast area, easy to talk to / friendly, she made us feel at home, and welcomed always ). I did use the laundry, their dryer is nice as clothes (esp linen material ones) didn’t come out wrinkly. Also who ever did interior decoration did a great job 👍🏽

We had been straying here many to tomes. We are very disappointed with the services. We have reminded them more than 3 times to clean up our rooms. We had activated the blue light for housekeeping but was not attended to. Before we left for lunch at around 1pm and told the front desk to ensure house keeping be done before we return. We came back at 4.30pm we were very stunned to see the room still not done, we need to chase many time before they send the staff at 5pm. We are tired after an event out and hope to come back to rest and have comfortable nap but we can’t have good rest due to the room was not clean. The management please look into such services seriously and not to take for granted the kindness of clients. Very disappointed client. Anthony. Room 127 Duration of stay : 02/10 to 06/10

Inside, the hotel is excellent. But the staff is absolutely unqualified! 15 days ago, I stayed there with my family — we paid for 2 nights and parking. Additionally, they charged us a £100 deposit, which they promised to return to our card once we checked out. It’s been 15 days, and we still haven’t received any money! We’ve called around 10 times already — every time they give us a new deadline for the refund. First, it was 4 days, then 4–6 days, then 7–14 days… and still nothing. When we asked them to provide a receipt so that we could contact the bank, they sent us an invoice from the hotel, which means absolutely nothing to the bank! Our questions are ignored, they lie to us, and every time they give us incorrect information! For example, when we checked in, we paid one amount for parking and two nights, plus the deposit. But when we started calling persistently about the deposit, they suddenly deducted £50 for parking — something they had never mentioned before! They did it at the very last moment. In short, to sum it up: this is a matter of principle — the hotel is unprofessional, the staff lies, and they treat people like fools! Nobody has ever seen a bank transfer take nearly 3 weeks — it’s a complete lie. The hotel clearly wants to play games with its guests but doesn’t realize that sooner or later they will have to answer for their words — and for the discomfort their lies cause other people! It’s only a matter of time before they face the consequences. P.S. If I had a choice, I would definitely pick another hotel! It’s better to stay somewhere else than to feel so stressed and insulted.
Vitaliy O — Google review
We had a very poor stay here. The hotel looks very nice and looks good value for a long stay. However, the mattresses are very uncomfortable and caused sciatic pain for my mother which meant we had no sleep for the duration of our stay 7 nights as she was crying and in pain. When we returned home the sciatica has subsided. I have stayed in other Hilton hotels as never had this issue elsewhere. The rooms are self service with a once a week cleaner which is not acceptable for the prices you charge it should be daily like other Hilton and other hotels. Breakfast was 22 each and the hot breakfast was cold, poor value and unless you eat llke a pig is not worth the money. The hotel is far out of the city centre and you would be better off paying a couple of hundred more and staying centrally. Parking is 105 for a week as well. Do not recommend.
Gabriella J — Google review
Beautiful hotel. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. We had a family suite which was amazing with 2 kids as I could give them breakfast/lunch before a wedding we went to. We didn't eat in restaurant as my kids are extremely fussy eaters so the the room was perfect and would accommodate.

Nestled within the iconic John Lewis, the John Lewis Espresso Bar is a delightful spot that embodies British charm. With its cozy atmosphere and an array of classic offerings like perfectly brewed English breakfast tea, dainty sandwiches with crusts trimmed just right, and warm scones, it’s a haven for both locals and visitors alike. For those on the go or looking to enjoy a quick treat without indulging in a full afternoon tea experience, this espresso bar provides individual items from their delectable menu.
John Lewis Cafe I know. Everything is just mass production. It's not going to be wow or disappointed. But still, the benefit of mass production is everything is cheaper. Not everyone can afford eating in luxury places but still deserves comfort treats in their life. The menu is quite narrow, looking around other tables. The food looked alright for the reasonable price. The scones were freshly baked. They were still hot when delivered. There is an microwave oven available for customers to heat their food manually. The place is clean, quiet and tidy. The service was always good whenever we went to this cafe. The main problem is, be ready to be on the queue. While the staff are not slow at all. It's a popular and busy place is why.

I didn’t know there is such an airy space in the shopping mall! Great view above most roofs of the little city, with the clouds drifting by and the birds flapping wings outside of. The company history and posters are also fun to read. Coffee is better than I expected. I was impressed by the latte art in the tall narrow cup. Smooth and mellow. (Semi-skim is the only dairy option and other substitutes costs extra.) Cinnamon bun looks tall and impressive, but it’s not crispy and rather on the soggy side. The large selection of cakes and sandwiches seem fairly nice. The price is competitive with college cafes considering the side salad. Probably worthwhile to stop by to try some of them. No to-go boxes, but the space is nice and quiet for relaxing, snacking, and catching up with friends. - 2 The food is decent for the price! (Slightly elevated supermarket sandwiches but with a view) The chicken wrap tastes fresh with silky avocado and yoghurt sauce and I appreciate the fresh dill. The young man at the counter forgot to scan my card and said it’s too late when I mentioned it. 4.95 was not a big thing but I was really disappointed by the arrogant attitude, unlike his more helpful and professional colleague.

Tamburlaine Restaurant and Bar is a stylish venue in Cambridge that offers a mix of modern features and old-time comfort, creating an enchanting atmosphere. The hotel boasts 155 bedrooms with elegant decor, marble bathrooms, and private terraces in the suites. Guests can enjoy various dining options ranging from the relaxed Steam Deli cafe to the sophisticated Tamburlaine Restaurant.
My boyfriend and I had the best time dining at the Tamburlaine while staying in the co-located hotel (the Clayton Hotel). Our waiter, Antoine, was super attentive and gave us the best recommendations. I had asked for the local beer and he definitely didn't lie when he said it was a good local beer. The restaurant was very accommodating to my peanut allergy letting me know what every dish contained without having to place a booklet in front of me to flip through before ordering. Everything tasted amazing. I’d highly recommend the everything, especially the sirloin steak, the grilled sea bream, and the brownie sundae. Despite being the only staff member attending the tables that was not managing the bar at the same time, Antoine was extremely attentive and quick at serving the other guests. Thank you Antoine!!! The next day, we came back for tea and the service was consistently good but without our waiter from the night before. The Cookie of the Day was freshly baked and delicious. Definitely a must-visit if you’re ever in Cambridge and near the train station.

Was pleasantly surprised with the food after reading the reviews, only saw them after booking. Cocktails to start were good, tasty and strong. Whilst the food wasn't high end and for the price just over £100, for 2 including with and a couple of Cocktails you can't expect it to be it was really decent , my smoked salmon was nice and my pork was melt in the mouth , although no crispy crackling. Portion size if anything was to large neither of us could finish our meals. Overall really decent food for a good price

Great restaurant, very friendly. No fuss menu, great burger. Buffet breakfast plentiful and friendly team.

Delicious afternoon tea. Scones were warm and scrumptious. The service was excellent - Mariana was a great host.

Popped in on a Tuesday afternoon. Sat at the bar. One lady working behind the bar. One other couple in the whole place. After 5 mins - could we have a drinks menu please? Yes Could we order some drinks and do your gins come with tonic? I don’t know I’ll have to get someone We had to ask twice to get ‘someone’ who made 2 excellent drinks. Asked if we could have some nuts and were told no problem. No nuts arrived, but 4 members of staff made themselves a coffee and chatted. I had to go to reception to ask for the nuts which of course they didn’t have and we were given crisps. The drinks were lovely. However the staff were disinterested and given the price of drinks the ‘service’ was non-existent. 2 stars for quality of drinks 0 for disinterested staff and zero service I couldn’t recommend going here, the place was empty and we felt an inconvenience to a coffee afternoon for staff.

Came down for a cocktail and pudding as we were staying with the hotel (you get a 20% discount). Very impressed with the staff, food and drinks. Amused by Aussie Rules Football on the TV! No sound thankfully :)

We waited for hours! We had a dinner reservation at 8:30 and didn’t get the starter until 9:50 by this time two other couples had got up and left having been there even before us, when the starters came my partners order was wrong and mine was very over done (burnt) I ordered the tiger prawns in honey glaze, when our mains came they were not hot and the burger my partner had was heavily over salted so much he didn’t eat it, I ordered the salmon which was such a disappointment when it was not hot, the flavours were there and had the potential to be a beautiful meal but it was clearly rushed and done at a poor standard. We got the bill before the plates were even cleared which reached over £100 we got an apology but unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed with a restaurant we had high hopes for.

We didn't eat, but the drinks and cocktails were great. Very friendly and helpful service. Relaxed atmosphere.

Tea store
Tea house
Tea Apothecary is a charming haven for tea lovers, nestled in the heart of Cambridge. This delightful shop features an impressive selection of loose leaf teas, including the renowned Newby Tea brand, which has gained popularity over recent years. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for everyone—it's dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible too! As you step inside, you're greeted by the enticing aromas of various blends that beckon to be explored.
I’ve been a huge fan of Victoria’s teas for a few years, so I was really excited when she finally opened her shop in Cambridge. I couldn't wait to check it out! The shop offers a wide selection of teas and beautiful accessories like teapots and strainers. It's beautifully decorated with antiques and shows a great attention to detail. I bought several teas from Tea Apothecary, and they all taste absolutely delicious and look beautiful too. If you’re a tea lover like me, skip the cheap tea bags and invest in the high-quality teas from Tea Apothecary—they're worth every penny!

The only place you need to buy your tea! A warm and welcoming shop that’s both dog friendly and wheelchair accessible. I loved being able to smell all the different blends, and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about the health benefits of each tea. It’s not just about tea either — there are plenty of lovely trinkets and locally sourced products to browse. The paper crane stationery display really stood out, with lots of high-quality items that would make perfect gifts. A beautiful little shop that’s well worth a visit.

OMG what a gem! A gorgeous little independent tea shop in the heart of Cambridge with beautiful decor and all the tea combinations you can imagine. They carefully and lovingly blend their own teas; everything from chocolate orange and pineapple matcha to blissful sleep tea (made with an array of gorgeous flowers) to a specially curated "Cambridge Breakfast". If you're a local or tourist, this shop is a MUST. Perfect to add to your personal teabox collection or to source a unique gift for a friend or loved one. They also have a pretty seating area with tea themed goodies AND a piano for entertainment. Don't miss out on their regular evening events; everything from jewellery making to Chinese tea parties!

Not only is there a great choice of tea, but also the sales assistant is very welcoming. Very nice afternoon in Cambridge thanks to her recommendations . I strongly recommend 😍

I love visiting this shop. Did you know that apart from perusing and purchasing a variety of loose leaf teas you can also receive invaluable advice about tea varieties. In addition you can now ask for a large cup of your favourite tea to be made in house for takeaway. The shop sells in house and online. There is a paraphernalia of teapots, cups, filters, and serving spoons as well as gift cards, and speciality mixed blends of tea.

Great place! Lovely teas and wonderful owners. Bought many times for myself or for gifts. Recently got a selection of delicious teas as wedding favours for my guests. Everyone loved them. Thank you Victoria for making such nice blends! It's great that you have a shop now!
Agnieszka R — Google review
It’s a beautiful shop & they offer a wide selection of tea leaves & other tea stuffs.

Absolutely delicious teas. I'm not usually a fan of fruity teas as I find them a bit bland, but the Tea Apothecary ones are something special. I love the Lychee Flower and always stock up when it's in. Have bought a few as presents because the packaging makes them really 'giftable' and they have always been really well received. Highly recommend.

Not good value. This is a pleasant enough coffee shop but as the prices are so high it represents very POOR VALUE FOR MONEY.
