Good solid pub in a great location. The mango cider was a killer!! Also the chips are great. Only reason I held off a star was due to the table being extra sticky and finding an empty wrapper left on the seat that was not cleaned.

Such a beautiful space to spend a cozy autumn afternoon in. My 4 friends and I ordered some of the items off their menu to share as we all couldn’t decide on one from the delicious selection. The food was AMAZING! And to top off the warming atmosphere from the seasonal decorations / log burner as well as the gorgeous food we were greeted by such lovely and helpful staff who made for a very pleasant experience. I will be returning again not only for a delicious meal with the family but also for just drinks and hang outs with my friends.

The Mill in Cambridge is one of those rare gems where everything just clicks—the riverside location, the cozy charm, the great food, and most of all, the people. Every time I visit, I’m struck by how genuinely welcoming the staff are, especially Grace, who always goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. Whether it’s recommending a pint, finding you the perfect table, or just sharing a warm smile, she brings an energy that really sets the tone for the whole place. Sitting by the River Cam with a drink, watching the punts go by, and hearing vinyl softly spinning in the background—it’s everything you want in a pub. Add in consistently delicious food (with solid veggie options) and that friendly, familiar service, and it’s no wonder The Mill is my favourite spot in Cambridge.

I had a wonderful experience at The Mill in Cambridge. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Shiv, a front of house team member, who provided excellent service throughout our visit. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt well looked after, which really added to the overall atmosphere. The food was also delicious well-prepared, fresh, and nicely presented. Combined with the cozy pub setting and great service, it made for a really enjoyable time. Overall, The Mill is a fantastic spot for good food and even better service. First time in Cambridge and came here. Everything you want from a proper pub - good drinks, nice staff (Shiv and Louise in particular - very friendly), good atmosphere. We did have food which was really good as well. We will be back next time we come x

Perfect pub experience for our mini break in Cambridge. Much better than the pub a little further along! The barman at The Mill was so friendly and welcoming. He took time to show us where we could find seating in a wonderfully cosy nook at the back of the pub. Lovely drinks, friendly people and a great atmosphere. We loved this place.

A wonderful and vibrant spot in Cambridge where you can truly feel the city’s historical and academic vibe in a bar setting! The atmosphere is lively, with lots of decorations that add character. There’s a wide range of drinks and a good food menu, including dishes like hash duck and fish & chips. The service is very friendly, and everything is served quickly. The overall vibe is fantastic, and there are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy. I definitely recommend this place and will return whenever I am back in Cambridge!

The Eagle in Cambridge felt like stepping into history itself. The pub has such a warm, traditional charm, and knowing it’s where Watson and Crick first announced the discovery of DNA made it even more special. The wooden interiors, old beams, and RAF graffiti on the ceiling added so much character. I enjoyed the atmosphere more than anything – it’s the kind of place where you can just sit, have a drink, and soak up the stories around you.

We love this pub! We make a point to eat here when we visit the area. Can’t beat the atmosphere, the food is yummy, and the service is good. The history makes it even that much more interesting.

The Eagle is such a fascinating pub, full of history and character. It’s not just a place to enjoy a good drink or meal, but also a landmark-this is where Watson and Crick announced the discovery of DNA, and you can still see the ceiling in the RAF bar covered with graffiti left by World War II airmen. The atmosphere is lively yet steeped in tradition, making it a must-visit when in Cambridge. The food and drinks are also great !

We stopped here to enjoy some lunch in a historic location. The pub was dark and quiet, which we very much enjoyed. I ordered a steak and ale pie, which was my favorite meal during our visit to the UK.

No explanation is really needed—the Eagle is the most famous pub in Cambridge, with countless legendary stories attached to it. A wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and a lively interior that’s always bustling with people. The fish and chips are excellent—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, simply superb. I always think I’ll order something else, but in the end, I always go back to this. With a wide variety of beers available, you’re sure to have a fantastic time here.

Bustling pub with great vibes but the food really lets down the great service and atmosphere. The duck confit had incredibly dry burnt potatoes, the mint pea soup was chunky...the best thing was the triple cooked chips with mayo. Lovely prompt service otherwise!

Modern Pub Working hard to write reviews for the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this restaurant. The restaurant is much bigger than I expected. The modern style attracts a lot of young customers. The portion sizes are quite small in terms of the prices. It's not the cheapest pub in the town centre. The food had slightly higher quality than Bath House, Eagle and Baron of Beef. But more expensive than them. But it looks very modern and clean, with big toilets. The service was good. As a reminder, this pub didn't provide chicken Sunday Roast on the day I visited. I suggest you check the menu in case you really want to have chicken Sunday Roast.

Decent scotch egg. Sunday roast’s meat is alright but everything else on the plate is nice. The famous scotch egg did not disappoint— one of the best I’ve had. Mixed to a more chewy texture but not tough. Prominent sage and other herbs’ flavor. Slightly fatty so half per person is perfect :3 The sweet-tart apple sauce is very refreshing and delightful, though I sometimes forgot to dip in it because of the nicely seasoned egg itself. Roast beef seems overcooked. Only a hint of pinkness. Slightly tough but still tolerable. The beef flavor is good. Yorkshire pudding is fluffy and not greasy at all, though I hope it can be a little more eggy. Veggies are nice— especially the parsnip is cooked to perfect. The gravy is subtle and not overpowering. Fried calamari and prawn is not too heavy and the chili mayo is also lovely even fr a non-mayo person. I don’t drink but really appreciate the beer board with all the information :> The staff is friendly and the place is more spacious than I imagined. I really appreciate the young lady for adjusting our bill to the Sunday 2-course.

Worst Sunday Roast Ever!!!!! Worst Sunday roast I've ever had. I don't normally put reviews, but honesty, this place doesn't deserve one start. My boyfriend and I ordered the Sunday roast (pork belly and beef). Both our plates were drowned in a greasy, overly salted gravy. Burnt potatoes and overcooked pork belly. The service was not better than the food. Having the waitress leaving the card reader machine to insert our cards on the table and telling us to do it ourselves. I have never seen this before!! I'm not sure whether we look to touristy for the place or if the service is always like this. I have ended up with food poison in the station on our way back to London. I'm glad there were open public toilets opened Make yourself a favour and avoid this place.

The Sunday Roast I had was smaller than expected. It was a bit on the salty side, and I didn’t particularly enjoy the sauce. Others at the table had the halloumi fries and said they tasted quite good. Our waiter was very friendly, but we had to wait quite a while for our food, especially the desserts, which we ordered after the mains. The toilet is located on the top floor, which could be an accessibility issue for some visitors.

Lovely modern decor, friendly staff, impressive selection of ales and lagers. The hummus with chilli oil and crispy chickpeas with flatbread was incredible and the fried prawns and calamari were a very generous portion.

Fantastic city center pub! The chef was incredibly kind and went out of their way to adjust my meal to suit my preferences, which is rare these days. The food was delicious, and the beer selection was excellent. Our server, a lovely New Zealander, was amazing—so attentive, with a fun and vibrant energy that made our experience even better. She was incredibly helpful, and honestly, she deserves a raise! I highly recommend The Pint Shop—definitely worth a visit!"

This doesn't look much from the outside but it's an absolute gem... incredibly excellent food, we had a private room upstairs for a friend's birthday and the young lady who served us was superb. Highly recommend the Indian chicken pie.

A solid 4.5. Wonderful environment. Lovely people. Good enough dishes to choose from. The potatoes that come with the lamb loin smell good at the moment the dish arrives. The lamb itself, as some comments mentioned, is on the dryer side, but still not too tough to be cut by a normal knife. And it’s a lean chunk of protein. The charred part is enjoyable. The carrots and asparagus are tasty, and the gravy is one of the best I’ve had, not greasy and adequately savory with umami. Schnitzel and duck breast and even salmon udon look nice.

So chilled and so welcoming. I have to admit that I love this place. It's perfect for families and exceptional for friends. The food is extremely good. And for the price I expect nothing less. I highly recommend this place!

The staff really really were great.wish I lived closer as I'd be here 2 3 nights a week! Only slight negative was the music coming from the kitchen... Some serious thrash/scream metal, but if thats Chefs "method" is then, so be it! But some chill tunes would really set this place off

Perfect, just perfect! Crispy fish & chips, but still juicy fillets and the sauce was great. By the way they serve you a giant fish. It was bigger than the plate! (which was full very big and deep and it was overflowing with potatoes, peas) Scotch egg was warm, soft and delicious! My friend eats everything with a piece of bread, so the waiter brought out a bog pile of toasted baguette slices on the house! As an artist I adored the antique atmosphere! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food! It's a must-visit!

We visited as a group for a get together. We had booked, but this was not necessary this time. Previous visits the pub had been busier. There is a good selection of beers, some traditional hand pulled beers and now some craft beers as well. Selection of lagar on offer. Good was ordered, arrived. Noi complaints from anyone. I had a burger and chips which was spot in.

Top notch selection of bottles and dry beers, including many Belgian beers. Did menu was small but very good quality. Ample outdoor and indoor seating. Friendly staff!

It’s a cool pub with a nice outdoor garden, and since Gorilla + Lamb is there, you can get decent burgers too.

Should be a great pub. But my experience wasn’t great. There was only one poor lad behind the bar all on his own. The chicken burger was pretty bad and massively over priced. The pump beer was not good, and due to a technical issue about 4 taps were not working. Fair play to the guy behind the bar on his own for working a shift.

Food was brilliant! 🍔 I had a delicious burger and the cider here is quite cheap in comparison to other pubs I’ve been to.

We loved the sneaky access from the graveyard. There was a good selection of drinks on tap and an extensive offering of the finest Belgian beers which we appreciate as we had an authentic Belgian person in our group. The vibes were on point and the good times were flowing!

Been here first time and like to say it's one of best pubs in Cambridge. Wonderful and surprisingly huge beer selection of cask and keg as well as bottles and cans. Every beer served by the specific beer glass which is very impressive for me. They are holding regular beer festivals, convenient location. Decor is super cool specifically ceiling if you look up. Plenty of seating inside and out at the back under big canopy but most of was full as it's very popular places for drinkers as well as food lovers. Defo coming back again and happily recommend

Decided to have supper at this lovely pub tonight. Delightful setting next to Midsummer Common and a warm summer evening. The food tasted fine - steak sandwich was good, fish cakes were ok (not made in the kitchen) and the nachos average. The problem was how long it took to get the food. We were told when ordering that it was about a 45 minute wait so we were somewhat prepared. However it actually took 1.5 hours for the food to be delivered to our table. Ordered at 7:52, arrived at 9:20 pm And no apologies when the wait staff placed the food on the table. Jest “here you go”. And it was not particularly busy really. Ah well.

Dog friendly. Staff were very good and took their time not to step on our dog who likes to get right in the way. the food was ok but had been left out for a while and as a result we didn’t feel well the next day, but I cannot blame them as it was rammed on a hot sunny Saturday. We ordered food at possibly the busiest time and day of the week. They worked very hard, and I can understand why they have an app system to order to make it easier for their staff on days like that. Atmosphere was usual for pubs, loud and cheerful.

Alongside the river Cam. Super nice spot. Decide to order via de QR code. It doeq force you to download their app. But you can remove this afterward. Once all selected, you pay via card or PayPal. Just sit and wait, drinks arrived shortly and food not very long after. We had the rumpsteak and the fish 'n chips. Together with the scenery i did not want to leave, ohter then the maybe not so comfortable picnic benches.

A lovely small cafe. Initial impression is that it's not very cosy, with it's white and primary coloured furniture, but the staff were welcoming and food excellent, with even the bread and pastries being made on-site. Room at the back confounded initial impression by being a peaceful and cosy space to enjoy our drinks and snacks.

Very dog-friendly (there should be a star rating for dogs, it would be 5), probably the most dog friendly place in Cambridge! Dogs welcomed throughout the pub and a great watering station. Great beer and they offer tasters for those who can't make up their mind, like me. Good place to pop in while kids are rowing or to go for a larger meal

Very popular riverside pub. Managed to grab last two stools on riverside. Great atmosphere. Didn't eat but food looked good, although apparently there was an hour wait. Lovely to watch the swans and ducks as we drank.

It was okay. My options were very limited as they were out of 2/3rd of the menu. I had a burger that ended up making my stomach hurt. I’d go back if the full menu is available.

Jem has been a star, serving us with speed and open arms. It has been a quiet Sunday afternoon here in Salisbury Arms, with a hot and flavoursome Sunday Roast, while it drizzles outside. Top points for the ambience, service and the drinks. Loved the gluten free pizza and the pancakes. Didn’t like the chicken wings it could be a personal preference. Shame didn’t take a pic of the pizza. Will definitely visit again to try the rest of the menu. Thanks for the lovely service!!

first time in cambridge and genuinely the nicest pub i’ve ever visited. the staff were super helpful and friendly and the vibes inside and outside are impeccable. the garden space is small but gets the sun just perfectly. they even had a gluten free pizza base that was surprisingly tasty!! 2-4-1 pizzas on a monday so ended up being super affordable. ashley behind the bar was the sweetest most wholesome person ever and gave us recommendations for pubs/clubs to visit and 10/10 service so thank you ashley !! such a cute location and pub you must visit !!

One of the classic Cambridge pubs, on a back street in the middle of a residential area. Super-friendly, great selection of drinks, and they're knocking out exceptionally tasty pizzas. Most definitely recommended.

There is nothing bad I can say about this place. This was my first *water-hole*, since starting uni here in Cambridge 3ya. I came for a pint of Ghost Ship cause I felt board at home. Nothing Uni related to do. And my server at the bar knew what I wanted. To which is a good quality sign that a person of her ilk is much needed in this world.

I had the Toni and the Mac + Cheese (with brisket), and would highly recommend both. The food was incredible, probably the best pizza I’ve eaten. The service was excellent as well, food ordered and eaten within 40 minutes. We had Jem as our server - she was polite and friendly. She made recommendations (re Gluten Free options) to us which were greatly appreciated! Overall, highly recommended!!

I come for pizza Monday every week, it’s a friend group tradition. Fin is a complete legend, super helpful, friendly and accommodating. I’d recommended this place to anyone who asks.

Had a couple of flights of lovely beers and a really nice burger. Beer was superb. Food was delicious. Service by Nessa was impeccable and super friendly. Lovely relaxed atmosphere where anyone is made to feel welcome and relaxed. 2nd visit and won't be my last.

Nice Pub I am doing a Cambridge pub marathon recently. Rating will be adjusted throughout the visits of different pubs. Pubs of the Cambridge town centre were surprisingly competitive in price and quality. You know, the rent of the town centre must be the most expensive. This pub too, the food tasted good. Maybe everything was relatively expensive than other pubs in town centre, but we found that it has more meat in the Sunday roast. The burger meat was thicker than other pubs too, but it's on the leaner side. The burger was not hot enough. Despite the Sunday roast being just rump steak, it tasted like sirloin to me. Very high quality beef for sure. The vegetables, potatoes and chips tasted good and cooked well. Beautiful presentation. It's a pub for you if you are willing to afford a slightly higher price for pub grub.

Our first meal after a very long flight & we were met with friendly staff & a jovial atmosphere as locals watched a game on the tv. We had an excellent scotch egg for starters & roast beef for mains (sunday roast). What we were most impressed with were the variety & quantity of vege. They were delicious. The yorkshire pud was huge, light & crisp, but the gravy...omg...was out of this world. Apparently they use one of their own beers as an ingredient. If there eere Oscars given for best gravy...this one would be a serious contender. We were so glad we'd booked somewhere with a decent chef. We thoroughly enjoyed both food & wine.

Awful beer. First pint of keg ale tasted like vinegar. Undrinkabke. Staff were good in changing it to ale which wasn't great but at least drinkable. Still had a whiff of vinegar about it. The half pint of hazy session ale my gf got was also pretty bad. Very dissapointed after picking this place out beforehand as somewhere to visit. Some of the worst small brewery beer I've had.

Pretty mediocre boozer. Reasonable beer, but pretty dopey staff on a quiet September Tuesday who'd not heard of wheat beer, even though they brew it on site. Not a lot of choice for proper ale in central Cambridge, so what can you do? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Staff were super helpful with finding vegan options on the menu - the burger was insanely good. Drinks menu had a decent range and all the beers on offer were great. Wonderful outdoor seating for summer drinks with friends

Home Italian menu in a little pub. I’ve been here before I didn’t know that hidden gem. The gnocchi is gigantic and so lovely, perfectly chewy and filled with soft sausage. Wow didn’t expect that. The deep red tomato sauce has a hint of sourness and lightens the flavors. Rigatoni is also amazing. Again You are larger than normal shape— wonderful for me who loves large thick pasta. Al dente and bouncy. The Ragu comes in generous portion and melts in mouth. Classic but by no means boring. My friend said the sauces are on the salty side. For me they haven’t exceed normal restaurant level and still within the pleasant range, though I would concur it’s healthier to lower sodium input and maybe leave the option of table salt. Hope there are some veggie/salad for sides it’s alright. Thanks for the satisfying meal. We’ll come back for some more unique pasta ^^ The staff are friendly. The Latin American music gives a very different tropical vibe.

Pesto Pasta It's the best pesto pasta I have eaten. You know, dishes with simple ingredients are tricky. It's easy to make but hard to impress. The cheese, cashew and pine nut enhanced the flavour of the pesto pasta. Too bad the portion was a bit too small. What an impressive pesto dish. The lasagne was okay. At least it's not just lasagne sheets with tomato sauce. It had some balance of meat mince, cheese, lasagne sheets and tomato sauce. Not sure if the potato chips were that necessary, though they tasted quite good. This restaurant is massive. Massive place with clean toilets. Quite a surprise that such a big place has such a limited menu. As a reminder, it's a pub but no British classics available. If you are looking for a Sunday Roast or fish & chips, it's not a place for you. To me it's totally acceptable to be a pub without British classics. The other way around, doing something different than the rest helps people to remember the place. Hope that there are more options available in the menu!

Popped in for a few drinks and was pleasantly surprised! Well lit spacious outside seating/ smoking area with outside “off licence” bar. Lots of drink selection and amazing friendly staff, free wifi and super clean toilets too.. what more could you ask for?

Brilliant pub, great selection of drinks especially beers. The food however wasn't as good. The menu looked promising but what was provided was quite basic. Great for going for a drink and a snack but wouldn't treat it as a meal out.

This is our local and we love it. My only wish is that they sold a chardonnay, but fair enough they do specialise in beers not wines. Lovely staff too.

After a long journey the Maypole was the perfect tonic. We really enjoyed everything - great meal, top service, excellent beer and wine. Thanks to Vincent and all the staff at the Maypole. Will definitely visit again when next in Cambridge. Cheers!

Not too sure why this place has so many good reviews, we went here on a Sunday to grab a roast, should have known it was going to be really bad because you have to pay up front and advertising boards that look nothing like the food (It really wasn’t a best kept secret) We both had roast beef which turned up raw and cold! Not too sure what happened there, everything else was hot. We immediately send both our meals back, waited about 20 minutes then the beef turned up overcooked (Same plates) the vegetables and everything else was cold, you couldn’t make it up!! They did give us a refund for the food, gave us free desserts which was a nice gesture but not quite sure what the chef was doing that day.

Visiting Cambridge for work, and visited the Town and Gown for some drinks afterwards. Seemed clean and pretty nice, music not too loud etc. They have a shuffleboard that is free to use as well. Quite enjoyed it here!

So delighted to have discovered this quaint theatre/restaurant/bar just off the main thoroughfare in Cambridge. The ambience was relaxing and the food was delicious. Keelan and his staff were friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. Molly was also welcomed and enjoyed a nice fresh bowl of water. Highly recommend!

Pub with Privacy I often overlook this pub, as it's located on a side road, the back of TK Maxx. The food was quite expensive compared to Eagle, Bath House and Baron of Beef. The Sunday roast tasted nice, with crispy Yorkshire pudding. The potatoes were a bit too crispy, overcooked? Not sure about the burger. The portion was small in terms of its price. The burger was not hot enough. The beef patty was a bit dry. I was not full after the burger meal. But the environment is genuinely nice, very clean and open. Every table has a big distance. The toilets are not small. I think it's a lovely environment.

Food- Overall was great in terms of taste, purple cabbage added a nice balance with the acidity. However, there were only 4 small potatoes (but were very crispy) which was a slight letdown. A small stuffing ball was nice as well but not enough. Cauliflower cheese was nice as well with decent browning for flavour, but more creamy and less cheesy though. Service- It was counter service so there wasn’t much interaction with the staff except asking for sauce and question regarding the meal. QR code wasn’t working to order either. Atmosphere- Decor of a bar/comedy club so not specifically designed for meals. Toilets were clean with baby-changing on the ground floor.

I have found my favourite pub, unfortunately I live 400 miles from it :( This place is awesome. Love the theatre details, wish I could catch a show. Very friendly service, funky music and I've just had the best steak I've ever had, which I wasn't expecting. I'd give this place 10 stars of I could.

Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere just off a quaint side street in Cambridge. I had the chicken and avocado chibatta and have no complaints 9/10 on food ! I would have rated the food higher except there wasn’t quite enough of it for my tastes, given I paid 10£. However I am a 6 foot healthy sporty lad, and I realize the portion sizes may be more reasonable for the average cliental.

Lovely varied selection of draft and cask beer. The barman was friendly and gave a few recommendations for beer that was spot on. Interior is lovely, comfortable and warming. The craft beer on tap was expensive but not unexpected.

Fantastic pub. This place easily has some of the best beer in Cambridge. Well worth the trip if you're happy to spend a few extra quid for very good quality beer + a great atmosphere. Very wholesome vibes. -- Update (May '25): you can now get pizza delivered on at least Wednesdays (maybe more often, I'm not sure though), so I think this gets a 5 now. Love to see partnership between local businesses!

Posh village gastropub. A solid 4-star considering its price and location. Fancy inside, rustic and sunlit outside. The food was mostly tasty. I enjoyed the duck leg (prefer the cur more than the brest anyways). Tender and flavrful. The spiced nut crumble is a little too strong with cumin. The sauce (caramalized rhubarb?) is delightful. Roast halibut is not oily and looks healthy, though a bit dry. Starters arrived after the mains. The cucumber is refereshing, though the ocotopuses are all headless lol. I also hope it’s not fried. The fried oysters are decent. Plump and fresh. The coating is a little too thick. No local ciders :3 A nice place to stop by but not worth going so far for the restaurant alone.

Lovely pub with emphasis on food service. The food was delicious and portion size was generous. We went for Sunday lunch and it was very busy which is obviously a good sign but I found it a little too busy and noisy. Definitely worth a visit and I would recommend but I wouldn’t go on Sunday as it’s crazy busy.

Great food and awesome staff. Main course was chicken and added the greek salad. Asked for recommendation of a favorite dessert and was very pleased with the lemon ricotta!

Had another wonderful lunch in this gorgeous pub. The staff are all so welcoming and always go above and beyond. The food is absolutely amazing, served quickly and is the highest quality. The lunch time special menu is fantastic value and has lots of choice. I couldn’t recommend this place more, which is why we keep coming back week after week.

We chose The Plough, Coton as a venue to host our Silver Wedding Anniversary party. From the start we were met with friendly, professional advice and were guided through our options both in relation to buffet menus and drink options. The evening was beyond our expectations. Every detail had been carefully considered from the fresh simple flower arrangements on the tables, to the row of gleaming glasses of Prosecco that greeted our guests as they arrived. The food was delicious, and plentiful, with many of our guests commenting that they would be returning to sample the restaurant menu as they had been so impressed with our buffet. Pasky and his staff went above and beyond to ensure that our guests were well looked after, leaving us to fully enjoy our evening. Thank you to Pasky and his team for ensuring that our event will be looked back upon in years to come as a memorable and special celebration.

Add the extra burger to the double cheese burger, great atmosphere on the terrace, if the weather cooperates. This is a must visit for a great meal.

The lunchtime meal was highly enjoyable, offering a diverse selection of dishes that exceeded typical pub grub expectations. The visit proved worthwhile, and the staff demonstrated exceptional friendliness. Would throughly recommend and will definitely be returning in the future.

The location is great, near Mathematical bridge and overlooking river Cam. However, this place is often super crowded especially the terrace during warm and sunny weather. There are calmer and quieter places around. Food was average. I don’t like that they require a code to enter the toilet. I understand you don’t want people who are not customers to use them but it’s very unwelcome surprise if you’re a client to deal with extra bother.

Lovely multi floor pub with a small but nice outdoor space to watch the punting on the water. An easy walk from town and a great stop before hopping on the river. The food is great and varied and the Korean fried chicken came highly recommended. Beers are priced as you’d expect for Cambridge with the one 4% IPA they have on draft costing about £7.

We had some cider which was super good! However, I wasn’t accustomed to ciders in general so I politely ask for the bartender for a recommendation for a sweeter cider, and even though his recco was amazing, it was delivered on a very dry and bored tone that made me feel bad for asking. Not the friendliest place, that’s for sure. But nice location and cool old building with multiple levels and a great terrace with beautiful views of the river.

Great place! The bar tender gave me great advices for nice beers, including local ones. I also had the chance to listen to an amazing band! I spent a great evening in the vibe a British Pub. Will come again when I will pass by Cambridge !

Very beautiful historic pub! The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating and felt theybwere really ontop of everything. Beers were very tasty, well preserved and a good variety of choices. Place needs a bit of love as it does seem neglected but seems pretty tidy considering the state of the building. (The walls in the dinning room look horrid 🫢) Highly recommend this place nevertheless and will be back soon for a visit!

⭐ Not even worth one star for how we were treated! We sat at a table to order a roast and were immediately asked, “Who put you here?” — as if we’d done something wrong. We explained we’d just seated ourselves and were planning to have the roast. The waitress then said the upstairs area was closing and told us to move downstairs. Fair enough — but several tables around us were still eating and drinking, so we decided to just finish our drinks and leave. A few minutes later, we were told we “couldn’t eat food we hadn’t bought there” — even though it was just a packet of crisps we’d purchased from their bar. The staff insisted we couldn’t eat them because “they’re not hot food and we’re closing” — which made absolutely no sense. Then, within the next minute, the table right beside us was served their starter! So apparently, they were “closing” — but still serving other tables? Completely inconsistent, rude, and unnecessarily aggressive. We left feeling shocked by how poorly we were spoken to. Definitely won’t be returning.

Surprisingly Good Trying to review different restaurants therefore entered this restaurant. The menu was quite limited, but nothing wrong to focus on things that you are good at. The food portions were very generous. I was impressed that the side had a variety of stuff inside. The side made the food more colourful and interesting. Not just some boring iceberg lettuce as a side salad like Honest Burgers does. The main was generous in portions too. The flatbread was heavily loaded with trunks of juicy meat. It was a nice restaurant with a reasonable price. With good service and good environment.

We randomly popped in as it was in the way from the station to the centre and i was wanting a nice breakfast. I was looking at breakfast places the previous day and they were either greasy or missing items I like. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw an English breakfast on this menu. And it comes with 3 hashbrowns! The staff was friendly as well. A good start to the day!

We had a lovely experience, the waitress was very helpful walking us through the menu, food was fresh and lovely as it was described. Portions were in reasonable size and volume. The place is cool! An old bike shop! It had good air conditioning and a calm atmosphere.

I booked a table for lunch and there was abolutely no problem, although I think it was also possible to get it in the moment. The food was good, specially the pochetta, it was definitely the best of all. Great meat flavour. They surely have good desserts too and my choice (English cheese) was both a bit pricey and not so good. Maybe other desserts are. The service was great and it wasn't too long until they brought the food.

Went to The Old Bicycle Shop for brunch with my partner. Food was nice, service was friendly and quick. The non brunch menu looked reasonable too so will have to come back and try that.

I hosted my Sip and Paint at The Old Bicycle two weekends ago, and it was an incredible experience. The staff especially Finn and Amelie were amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and my event was a success. The decor was fantastic and added a unique je ne sais quoi touch that everyone appreciated. My guests absolutely loved the food and drinks, and we all agreed the venue deserves a solid 10/10!

Visited here for brunch after a recommendation but I’m not sure if we made the wrong choices. We went for the full English but it’s was definitely lacking for the price. No where near enough bacon and the sausage tasted weird to me. Bailey’s coffee was also a lot for the size. Jas was very friendly though.

Greene King Pub Trying to write reviews for all of the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this restaurant. I thought this is my 4th Greene King pub review. I found that the sunday roast of Greene King pubs have the very similar potatoes and meat. Probably everything is from the same supplier. Didn't expect the steak sandwich was not hot. I had ordered a similar sandwich from other (non Greene King) pub before, it was a toasted sandwich. I should have asked if it's hot or cold before making this order. My bad. But the sandwich tasted nice. With a generous amount of fillings and sides for a reasonable price. But personally I prefer hot food for such a cold day. The Sunday roast was very similar to other Greene King pub. Relieved that the beef tasted okay, without strange taste or smell. The vegetables were not overcooked either. The pub locates at the quiet side of Cambridge town centre. It's easily being overlooked. So I think it is a good place for private parties. Clean and open restaurant with 2 TVs downstairs.

Lovely big building set over 2 floors with lots going on. The burgers were fab, a few good craft beers on tap. There are some good views over the park at the rear of the building and a nice seating area at the front. Staff friendly and helpful. I was in here 5 pm on a Saturday and the place was rocking and quite loud, but in a nice way, people were having fun and playing pool & games. They have live music on upstairs

One of my favourite pubs in Cambridge. I have been occasionally visiting in through the past 8 years and I was always happy with the selection of drinks and quality of the food. The staff is always nice and friendly. When my family visited me nice man was happy for my 8yo nice to place the food order as an exercise and test of her English. This was an absolute adorable thing and my nice was so happy and proud. Prices are fair. Highly recommend to visiting!!

I was there for a private function. Unfortunately this organisation always uses venues that are too small for it - not the G&HS’s fault. Three deep at the bar in the function room upstairs and nowhere left to sit down and eat. We had to abort and go to a very authentic Chinese restaurant across the road. Would like to go back and try again as the food looked nice.

Very nice and quiet place with good drinks and fresh food.

A great time here. Shuffleboard was £5 but this was during the day so might be more at night but we played for about an hour with a couple of drinks. Really friendly staff and we noticed they do quiz nights and other theme nights. Really nice place, one of my favourite pubs in Cambridge. We didn't eat but the food we did see looked nice. Decent pint of guiness too. We will definitely be returning!

A nice selection of beers here! Had fun playing shuffleboard with my friend and we also enjoyed a few of the small share plates - the sticky chicken & the dumplings were super tasty! The staff were very friendly! Will be coming again.

I stopped by the city briefly over the weekend with two work colleagues, kind of spontaneously. I have to say, I really enjoyed it – the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the music wasn’t too loud. The seating was comfortable, and the bar lady on Saturday night was very friendly and attentive. I’d definitely go again if I find myself in Cambridge.

Amazing food and great service! The steak pie and duck leg were fantastic - the meat was so tender. The place is beautiful, clean, and quiet. Perfect for a meal with family or friends. The staff were super helpful throughout our visit. Highly recommend!

We visited this place on Tuesday during the lunch. There, we met a lovely Italian man named Gian Carlo, he was really so hospitable and accommodating. The food was amazing and top of it the service was superb. It was our first time in Cambridge and we were looking for a restaurant to grab some drinks and good food, fortunately we landed to Boathouse; where we met this gentleman with a smile on his face. He really made our day by providing such a good and friendly service Thank you!

Amazing evening out for food with my work friends. The service from Giancarlo was amazing and always came over to double check if everything was all ok. He had a positive attitude and was always smiling. The service from Muneera was a really positive. Came over straight away, asked us what we would like for drinks. The drinks came out really quickly too. We also got offered where we would like to sit. Came out of this restaurant really happy. Thank you for making my evening!!

We love the boathouse! Everything we have had there is amazing and the service is fantastic. Giancarlo is our favorite! He makes everyone who walks in feel so special. We have a toddler and he always checks in on him to make sure he’s happy. The food is also affordable!

We (party of 7 ranging in age from 16 to 86) celebrated my mum’s birthday at The Boathouse last Sunday lunchtime. The menu was perfect as there were choices other than roasts (a burger for the teenager). Everyone enjoyed their food and the landlady and waitress couldn’t have been more helpful. They even hid the birthday cake behind the bar! It was a really lovely lunch. I thoroughly recommend the Boathouse. No notes!

Broke my long-standing no-fish streak for the fish & chips — and honestly? No regrets. Tasty, crispy, and a great-sized portion for the price. All in all, a great spot. Great little pub with friendly people, great drinks, and great food. I was lucky enough to visit during a cider tap takeover and a neighborhood outdoor event, and the selection was fantastic. I also had their Scotch egg, which was one of the best I’ve ever had, and their cheesy chips, which were an excellent value. It’s a great, quiet neighborhood pub that’s well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Cambridge.

This pub gets very crowded on weekends. Really tasty fish and chips and burger. Generous portions. Sides like chips and mushy peas were very good, too.

Cool little pub, with a good vibe. Friendly staff, reasonably priced. Food is solid but wouldn't go out my way for it. Chips were solid, the roast didnt feel like great value because you get one slice of meat and was quite chewy.

Cosy traditional pub - back garden room was lovely! Excellent food. Only trouble we had was the tables/seating was quite crammed in (we had to keep asking an elderly chap to get up and down if we needed to go to the bar etc.) Staff were a little unfriendly, but overall nice place!

A fantastic pub with a warm atmosphere and an excellent selection of food. The menu is clearly labelled with allergens, including plenty of gluten-free options. We tried the gluten-free risotto and the Goan prawn curry, and both were absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food with thoughtful dietary accommodation! No gluten free beer on tap though.

While staying in Cambridge, we were delighted by this pub. Very good quality of food as well as the quantity not to mention the staff, who was willing to give the best service. Good spot for a nice view. It was busy on a sunny Saturday afternoon, but we managed to find one free table. It was a long wait for the drinks and food, the wait likely triggered by the pub crowding. Food was nice, ordered nachos and chicken sharer plate. Nachos were really nice. Prices reasonable.

To be fair we had a LOT of people there that day, but they really weren't prepared, food took. hour plus and my Kiev was overcooked to the point it was hard to cut. Place looks nice though and plenty of space. They also serve a few different ales, Greene king and neck oil ones.

The Granta is one of those pubs that feels like it’s been waiting for you your whole life — tucked just off the bustle of Cambridge, perched over the river like it’s posing for a postcard. It’s cosy, with that “old jumper and warm pint” kind of charm, and the setting is ridiculously pretty with the gentle hum of punting life drifting by. A proper little riverside escape.

Slowest service even on a quiet day. Spilt drinks all over me and just pretended nothing had happened. The halloumi was decent and so was the view but otherwise avoid the calamari as it was rubbery and cold

The food is disappointing, we order the mussels with white wine and cream as starter, the sauce was split, you see piece of solid cream inside a watering broth. We tried the Sunday Roast, and the beef was overcooked, I informed the waiter after we finished the meal, and his response was I will tell to the Chef, and ...? No empathy or a sign of recovery services. Atmosphere is nice, peraphs go for a drink, but don't order food.

Came here for Sunday lunch and a few Guinness sitting by the river cam taking in the atmosphere. Lovely Sunday lunch aswell as fish and chips and chicken dinner. 5 star for the food and a special shout out to James who works very hard in providing a great service!

The Old Ticket Office is a beautifully restored pub with vintage charm and modern comfort. It’s conveniently located next to the railway station. The beer rota is great, the hospitality is great and the food is even better! Went there twice during my visit to Cambridge!

Great pub and so convenient to the station. The customer service was great had a great laugh with Rae and Flo behind the bar left me with an ear to ear grin. Finally topped off with a quality selection of IPAs and a top notch sandwich. Thoroughly enjoyed my time whilst waiting for a train would definitely come again 👍

Went the OTO with my mates and this place was amazing in that the atmosphere and the staff were so welcoming ! Not only were they friendly kinda and welcoming, but they were also super knowledgeable and competent at their jobs. I was served by Ray, Grace and Will and they gave excellent service and the most amazing experience. The staff choices in drinks was great too as the had a great selection! 10/10 would recommend going!

Went for a nice lunch with the family at the red lion. Enjoyed our meals whilst sitting on a table outside in the beer garden. Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great with decent portion sizes and at a reasonable price.

Amazing service, very quick, polite and engaging. Lovely dog , family friendly atmosphere. The Sunday roasts are great (particularly the beef and lamb)!! Play area for kids is also great fun and there are good options for deserts and starters, will definitely be back to try more of the menu 😊

Update: wow - lots of water and dog bowls! Thanks!! 🐶🐶🐶 NOT DOG FRIENDLY. A well placed pub with some good food and a friendly atmosphere. My main gripe is they have a big sign outside saying they are dog friendly, and indeed there are many dogs, but on two recent occasions I’ve found it almost impossible to get water for my dog. In the summer it’s absolutely essential to have a good supply of large, full water bowls. We shouldn’t have to be walking around trying to find the single tiny and empty bowl and then have to queue at the bar to get it filled only to have to do it again in a few minutes as it’s too small - there were other people with the same problem as me when I was there. I appreciate dogs bring in a lot more customers, especially somewhere here near the meadows where so many people walk with their dogs, so you really do need to sort out the water situation, especially in summer. Solution is simple. Invest in a good supply of large bowls. Invest in outdoor water supply. If not a tap then a large barrel that’s occasionally checked to be sure it’s not empty. This is the sort of setup I’ve seen many times with larger busy food-first pubs where dogs are a core component of the patron demographic. Looking forward to changing my revew to be more positive in the future :)

What am absolute gem of a pub. Stumbled upon this pub whilst wandering wearily. I came to Cambridge from London for the day, and having had a whole day of walking was looking for a little refreshment before getting the train home. I must admit, I did step in feeling it had a bit of a social club type of feel to it, but my fears were soon dissipated. All of the patrons were cheerful and smiley, Jenny the bartender was friendly and very helpful with suggesting a nice IPA for me. A huge choice of ales here and also a separate menu of Belgian beer if that is your fancy. I will definitely be dropping in here again next time I visit Cambridge. Meanwhile, I shall quietly weep that this is not my local.

🎶🍺 Last week I visited this pub and it turned out to be such a great evening! The place itself has a really cozy, traditional English atmosphere — the kind of spot where you instantly feel comfortable and welcome. But the absolute highlight of the night was the live music. Rupert was singing, and honestly, I was blown away 😍. His voice is incredible, and the way he connects with the audience makes the whole performance even more special. Every song felt full of energy and emotion — it completely lifted the vibe of the room. I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but I left with a huge smile on my face. If you love live music in a friendly, authentic pub setting, this is the place to be. I’ll definitely be back for the next performance! 🙌🎤🍻

A good old boozer, with great selection of ales & Belgian beers

I was fascinated by this place and I love it. The treatment was amazing, the guy was super nice to us, the people it is super kind, and seems to be like a big family. They have a huge variety of Belgian-style beers starting with delirium and finishing with lambic ones, so if you love Belgian beer this is the place for you. I really recommend you some Christmas beer 🍺, they are amazing 🤩🤩. We will definitely repeat the experience 🥰🤩. They have some events in August so don't miss them!

My first time at The Elm Tree but certainly not the last. My friends and I walked around the center for a bit before going to The Elm Tree; it wasn’t a particularly warm evening and I was feeling rather chill. Was not in the mood for beers and really really wanted something hot to drink. So while my friends were ordering their ales, I asked a bar keeper if they could maybe make me a cup of tea — and what do you think? They kindly prepared one for me even though it was clear it’s not something they usually serve. It was genuinely nice and kind thing to do. In addition to that, I got asked if I would like to have a piece of lemon in my tea after I mentioned I didn’t usually drink my tea with milk. Never got asked something like that in all my time spent in the UK and was both happy and nostalgic since that’s how we drink tea in my home country. It was such a small thing but it meant a lot. I am looking forward to trying the impressive selection of their Belgian ales — and thank you again for your kindness, The Elm Tree!

Quirky back street local well worth visiting. Good selection of real ale. Had a Stout from Papworth brewery, a new brewery for me. Very friendly. Lots of pubs in the area. First place ever seen fsirfields farms crisps.

Cool tap house with lots of local beers. Very classic English pub type of feel where locals seem to frequent. Friendly staff too!

I do wonder if recent reviewer (Duy Tan Do) isn’t aware of the uniquely British types of beer that this pub sells a lot of & has an award-winning reputation for? (apologies if I’m mistaken on this). If you’re used to drinking the regular colder, fizzier keg beers found across the world & especially mainstream lagers, then UK cask beer (real ale) will certainly seem warmer & flatter, but this is by design & not a flaw😊

Nice pub with a few drafts, fast and friendly service. Some small bites or can order from the place down the street and it is delivered, however on busy days can take up to 45 Minutes.

We went in for a few drinks after a family meet up in the area. Friendly bar staff and regulars where also lovely and friendly. Would recommend even if your passing and need a quick drink. They also have an warm Outdoor tent with seating.

Locals pub, good range of beers etc. Good seating in the rear garden, lots undercover too. No sign of food that I could see, but I assume they do food. Quite a bit of colourful language on a Friday evening, but friendly enough.

Recent visit to Cambridge Corn Exchange this Restaurant and Cocktail bar was really close. It had a varied menu and was a great place to eat. The food was excellent. Short of staff, with long queue at the bar when I wanted to pay for the meal, was my only disappointment.

Ordinary Menu Very limited menu. The food was average with reasonable prices. The burger was a bit too dry and lean, but at least it's using genuine blue cheese for it. The cheese was very intense. They kindly swapped my fries into salad, as I didn't want any fries for my steak. Good and flexible services. The environment was in full air conditioning. Unfortunately the toilets were clean, but there were bad and unpleasant smell. Probably need so air fresher? The environment and staff services are above average generally. I think the restaurant needs to have something signature/unique/exclusive in the menu, or customers would not remember you.

I’ve visited Vodka Revolution in Cambridge many times and it’s consistently a great spot. They run 2-for-1 cocktails every day except Saturdays (you do have to order the same cocktail), and the drinks are always well-made and taste great. The rooftop bar is a lovely bonus in the sunshine. I’ve eaten here on several occasions too — portion sizes are generous and the food quality is reliable. I’ve also joined a few quiz nights, which are run by an outside company. The prizes are usually drink tabs or shots, which adds to the fun atmosphere. On one occasion a family with children disrupted the quiz around 9pm, but the manager handled it really well and even offered free drinks as an apology for the inconvenience. Always a good choice whether for food, drinks, or a night out.

Joined someone's party and it was pretty nice, big selection of drinks and nice food. Place is nothing special, but did spent most of my time in the area with removable roof due it being organised party.

We had such an amazing time at Tiger’s cocktail making class! The experience was so much fun from start to finish — Tiger was friendly, engaging, and made everyone feel involved. The cocktails were delicious, and we learned some great tips along the way. Honestly one of the best group activities I’ve done in ages — highly recommend! 🍸

Budget Pub Big menu. The prices are amazing, only £26 and we got 2 meals! I know the food is not the best. But thinking of the prices, you will take everything easy. I thought the portions would be very small because of the prices, but it's not. The portions were enough for everyone. Everything tasted alright. Except the sirloin was a bit chewy. The steak sauce was cold. The service was efficient. It was busy but the food delivered quickly. No service charges as you need to order at the bar. While other luxury restaurants, cafes and bakeries. They charged so much that your expectations are going to be much higher. Much harder to get the best ratings. The pub was much bigger than I expected. But the tables and seats were clean. There are plenty of toilets and each unit is big. Not everyone can afford eating in luxury restaurants/cafe, at least the majority can afford to eat in the Regal. As it's almost 2 times cheaper than other restaurants.

Such a great place for a quick bite! You order either at the bar or through your phone and the food is just great. I had the jacket potato and as a baked potato lover - it was perfect! Drinks are cheap and service is so fast. Everyone was always checking in to ensure I enjoyed myself as well.

As a tourist, I had a really good experience. It was quite busy, but in a pleasant way. The staff were very friendly. The ordering system was a bit unfamiliar at first, but easy to figure out. The food was good – didn’t look like much at first, but the burger turned out to be really tasty. What I liked most was seeing young and old sitting side by side, enjoying themselves. I’d be happy to come back if I’m ever in Cambridge again.

Using an old cinema makes this wetherspoons stand out from the crowd. The entrance particularly is unique. The food is good, though portions smaller than I would like. The inside area is nice and large, with 3 different sections. There is an outside area, at the back, for smokers. A pleasant place for lunch.

Delicious home made cakes and pastries with a Portuguese influence (especially delicious pastel de natas) Very friendly and efficient service with a delightful seating area if you don't take away. I will definitely return and recommend to friends. Handy for the station as well.

I was looking for a place to have dinner in the UK and thought—well, I can’t leave without going to a pub. What really caught my attention here was the sign saying the place has been open since the 1700s. I thought: if it’s been around that long, they must be doing something right! One thing I really like in the UK is that menus list the calories. Even if it feels a bit dramatic sometimes, it’s actually very helpful—and honestly, I think it should be like that everywhere. It makes the decision easier (or guiltier, depending on the day!). Since I’ve tried fish & chips plenty of times (around the UK) and never really liked it, I went for something new: a fish pie. My first ever. It was made with mashed potatoes and cheese instead of a pastry crust, which I wasn’t expecting—I missed the crust, but still, the flavor was really nice. Lots of shrimp, tasty veggies, and overall a very comforting dish. I had a small beer, which together with the pie made for a good, fair-priced dinner. The service was fast, although the pub wasn’t packed, so maybe that helped. Also, they have a ton of beers on tap—didn’t count them, but easily close to 20.

We had lunch here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Mitre has welcoming staff and excellent service. Our food came fairly quick and delivered in quality and flavour. We enjoyed all our dishes especially the Steak and the Burger. To finish we tried their Sticky Toffee Pudding which was amazing; it was rich and light and the ice cream complimented it well. The atmosphere and the dog friendly aspect was great detail as well. I will definitely be back!

Another stop on my tour of the oldest pubs on Cambridge, quick service and decent selection on tap. It filled up quite quickly after I arrived, this may have been due to some live music beginning to play shortly after we sat down. Between this and the pub next door it's a good start to a night out!

Fantastic pub in the heart of Cambridge, staff very friendly and helpful. Great food and good vegan options. We enjoyed our pies and gravy and even had a cheeky crumble for pudding. Cost atmosphere. Very welcoming. This will be our go to pub if we visit Cambridge again.

We had dinner here on a Sunday afternoon. The food was not great quality and they were out of a lot of menu options. I have had much better pub food and would not eat here again. Overall the pub has the feel of a chain pub. Might be good for a few drinks. The person who served us was very good - friendly and attentive.

Family gathering lunch, third time here in six years. What a lovely pub and restaurant. Car parking is tight but ok. Lovely ambience especially the conservatory area near the back. Staff are lovely, super helpful, and eager to please. When I first came here in 2019, I think it was, the food was really super. I think something is happening though, with the food, and it's not heading in the right direction, to my mind... ... Daytime a la carte menu is not extensive but it's fine. I can only go on what I found today, but I was left feeling the quality of food didn't match expectation or indeed price. In excess of £32 for a piece of sirloin, I want a fairly decent piece of meat. What I got was the oddest looking steak I've ever seen. Yes it was medium rare, nicely pink inside. But the outside gave me the impression the chef had given the whole steak ten seconds fully immersed in a deep fat fryer!!!!! The steak was not the highest quality either. Slightly thin, quite tough, not finest sirloin by any means. It was just plain odd to look at and odd to eat. What on Earth is Chef up to? Someone needs to have a word. Frangipani tart lacked moist centre, lacked any flavour punch, was over cooked, maybe been under a hot lamp all day? Oh dear. We will not be making a return.

Wow.. when you last time had a supreme time in venue which is not a Michelin star rewarded? When you last time complimented food from first bite to last? I don’t remember having goosebumps from bar snacks ever before.. just, I’m speechless 🙌 will definitely back and bring friends and family for proper meal and drinks! See you soon!

Charming thatched gastropub that's definitely with a visit! The food has been excellent every time I've been. Never faltered. And the service is perfect. Always charming, always prompt. The last time I went we on-the-day booked 14 for lunch and the food was still prompt and our waiter and serving staff admirably patient and cheerful!

One of the better meals I have had for a while. Have been to 5 or more of the cambs cuisine restaurants over the years and think this was the best so far. While expensive, the quality matched the prices. I would go back for a special occasion

Having eaten at the Three Horseshoes a few times this review is long overdue. We've visited the Three Horseshoes (and other Cambs Cuisine pubs) a few times over the last few years, either as a couple or with friends or family. The food and service is always of a high standard at the Three Horseshoes. The pub has a relaxed atmosphere and a lovely conservatory or garden with plenty of tables, as well as a bar area at the front. It is also dog friendly if you sit in the garden. We recently went to their Tapas day at lunchtime and sat in the garden. Every single dish we ordered was a delight - beautifully presented, delicious flavours and perfectly prepared/cooked. We tried the smoked duck, Spanish tortilla, Muhammara dip, cured monkfish with mango relish, soft shelled crab, bbq chicken and beef cheek. It was hard to tell what the portion sizes would be and some were actually extremely generous. We over ordered, but took home the slow cooked beef cheek which was turned into a tasty ragu the next day. The service was very friendly and attentive, considering how busy they were. We look forward to our next meal at the Three Horseshoes.

Great classic pub with beers on draft and several great ciders to purchase. We popped in on a rainey day and it was warm and inviting. Apparently both CS Lewis and JRR Tolkin both came here to write and I could certainly see that. Had a nice patio and multiple rooms to gab a table it. Was decent busy for a random Wednesday afternoon.

Popped in for a quick drink while on a visit to Cambridge, as a history lover I had to visit the oldest pub in Cambridge. Quite small near the entrance, but beyond some quirky walls where I imagine old fireplaces stood, it opens up and there is a fair amount of seating and a large garden space. Great place to start a Cambridge pub crawl as it's right on the river. Service was quick and there was a decent selection on tap and a few gins available too. Food was available but we had booked elsewhere so didn't eat, but there were menus available

202405 Interesting tapas, though probably not worth a second visit for meal— Probably works better as for cocktail and light bites as the menu is quite limited for a tapas place and lacks a dish that stands out. Interesting fusion salad. The Moroccan spiced beetroot brings North Africa to Eastern Europe, but the flavors seem more contradictory than intended. I was adventurous to have the white bean and avocado and apple and manchego cheese— not bad to be honest and h like the crispy apple bits and nutty cheese, but it’s really two salads combined :3 The Mediterranean grilled veg with pine nuts is the safe bet as always. The mushroom croquette is alright. Warm and crispy with a gooey center, though I would prefer a little texture to the current mushroom flavored paste. Chicken thighs are alright, nothing special. Bread is alright and a little too simple (little white baguette sliced). The dipping is nicely herbed but the oil layer is too thick. Padron pepper is a little too soggy and not crispy enough. I enjoyed the sliced Cecina air dried smoked beef most. Service is friendly and food isn’t too slow.

We had lunch here yesterday. Fabulous! We had crispy whitebait, squid, spicy sausages, padron peppers, spinach and goats cheese croquettes, skin on fries. 2 Aperol spritzer, and a jug of the white sangria. Could not fault anything Service was excellent and friendly Very reasonably priced for everything that we had. Recommend!

The ambience is surreal and beautiful. The bar looks amazing. The menu is a bit confusing as it wasn't clear which was the mains, we were surprised thinking it was really cheap. But we didn't realize that it wasn't the mains (it was neither sides nor platter). The menu could be more informative. Although the portion was small, the food tasted amazing. The waitress was nice and friendly. We had marinated beef skewers with spicy sofrito dipping sauce, chicken strips with lemon, thyme and moscatel sauce and olive oil crackers with manchego cheese.

We had our lazy afternoon there. We ate in their outside table. The food was great! There wasn't much traffic, but we waited for around 20 minutes before ordering. However, there was no tax, nor tips in the bill. No complaint!!!

Cocktail bar that serves a (limited) selection of tapas. The tapas that I had were good, and the portions are quite sizable. (Helpfully, it also says so on the menu.) As far as food goes, a solid, but not outstanding experience. The selection of beers is very limited. This is a cocktail bar, after all. Very friendly and attentive service. Pet peeve: the bill includes the dreadful 'service charge'. Maybe I am terribly old-fashioned, but I don't like this.

I went once last week and spent such a great time dancing and singing along almost every song the band played that I went again the night after that with some more friends. Great experience! The place is not big and it gets crowded but if you like that then this is your place to have a blast!

Came in for a late-night beer and was pleasantly surprised to find that The Corner Inn is also a fantastic Nepalese restaurant. They have a great selection of beers on tap. I couldn't resist trying the veggie momo as a snack, and they were absolutely lovely! The full menu looks brilliant, and I'll definitely be coming back for a proper meal. A great find!

Come again after remodeling. The menu is different from the previous one. Had a rack of lamb and a mushroom rice. A beer of course. Lamb is great, it is soft and served with the home made sauce. But I miss the pasta hope it will come back at some point.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stopped over in Cambridge for the night on our way to Norfolk and decided to pop into The Corner House as it was just over the road from our hotel — so glad we did! The staff were really welcoming, polite, and friendly, and the service was quick and efficient. Our meals were absolutely lovely — freshly cooked and full of flavour. It’s a great little pub with a warm atmosphere, and we had a really enjoyable evening. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

The pub had a seafood Weekend so we went and the food was delicious. We had a sharing platter and a couple of mains each that were very good. The mains were very good but one was quite peppery, and when we asked for it to have some cheese and cream added to perhaps take the edge off, which they did, they then gave us a free dessert of their own volition. They also have some cool retro games and there’s lots of seating and space inside and in the beer garden. The staff are really nice and it seems as though there’s a lively community and schedule of events kept regularly up to date

We came in for a meal on the off chance , well what a gem !!!! The guiness is outstanding, the staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful, I dunno what magic the chef welds in the kitchen but 10/10 ! I'd honestly come and stay here just to have a meal. Can't recommend enough

We stayed here whilst working in Cambs and it offers a good standard of accommodation and reasonably priced. The thai restaurant is very popular but it does take away from the actual pub side of things a little. It would be nice if it was a bit more kid friendly outside.

We stayed in an air bnb just 3min walk away. What a great place to have a few drinks and Thai food. Absolutely delicious. Great service, everyone was very friendly.

Great pub, with good selection of ales on rotation. Out of the way village location, serving the local areas well. The Thai food is excellent, with a number of specials on the boards which are truly delicious. Attentive staff, with really great service. Worth the trip out - consider booking in advance!

The Thai food is the proper authentic and very delicious with four Thai chefs - would recommend the red style panang curry. The service and atmosphere inside the pub is nice with a large outdoor beer garden.

We turned up on a very busy Friday night for a drink and a crossword. A chap behind the bar spotted us looking a bit lost, came over to see if we were ok, directed us to one of the huts outside (which were perfect for some quiet crosswording) and poured our drinks. I didn't get his name, mid twenties with fair hair and a short beard. Thanks!

Popped in on my Birthday, on the off-chance as my daughter was a a club in Linton, but we only had an hour. Oh my gosh, amazing food, fantastic portion sizes, great staff, nice atmosphere. And we were done well within the hour. We will be back.

Local Pub Trying to write reviews for the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this pub. Attracted by the onion rings of other table while entering the pub. Therefore we ordered onion rings too. The food was in generous portions. The onion rings and fish&chips reminded me of Henry's of Hunstanton. Both restaurants didn't have basic seasoning therefore tasted bland. You need to add salt onto them. But at least under the batter, there was a genuinely big fish fillet inside. The onion rings were good quality. Everything was hot and well fried. The burger was quite lean therefore relatively dry. That made me feel salty. At least it's a brioche bun. But still, the prices were very reasonable. Nice, clean and quiet environment. The staff were friendly, sorry the system did not let me give the service 6 star ratings.

A friendly little neighbourhood pub. As tourists, we weren’t aware of the pub quiz – or how long it would last – and ended up as unwilling participants, hearing all the questions and answers over the PA. The Sunday roast was solid and tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was a bit dry, though. Perhaps we misread the situation, but it felt like desserts aren’t ordered very often here.

My friend and I saw that they have a supper club so thought we would try it out. It was a 5 course menu and you could opt for drink parings too or just food which was £35 - great value! We were driving but from what we heard from others the drinks were awesome. The staff were fantastic and knew their stuff. They explained what everything was - very informative but in a friendly way. The food was fantastic! It was so nice to just the boundaries and try some new food - the flavours were amazing. You could tell it had been well thought out. The atmosphere was really good too. Not too loud, between the music playing and the chatter. I would thoroughly recommend it and I can’t wait for the next one! Oh and I need to book in for a Sunday roast dinner asap! Reviews are great on those too.

Attentive staff, cosy atmosphere. Great location away from busy Cambridge. We opted for a few starters instead of a main meal. Food was excellent. Everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious too. If I lived nearer I’d be eating and drinking here all the time. 5 stars!

I'm having to update an old review as we just visited for the first time in a year and the food has gone downhill considerably. The Petersfield has always had a great vibe and fantastic staff. Thankfully this is still the case. But unfortunately, not only did the food take over an hour to arrive, it was horrendous. I had the burger and chips, which looked like something from the 90's. My wife had the sausage and mash which had the saltiest gravy, rendering it inedible. The sides were broccoli, which was caked in a wierd thyme paste and cavalo nero which was soggy and resting in its own cold water runout. The waitress was extremely charming and did everything she could to make the situation better. I do feel for the staff though as they are being let down by the kitchen. I hope this was a one off hiccup and that The Petersfield is back to it's former glory on our next visit.

We had Sunday roast option. Flavour was good, but the portion size was very small. Small to the point it ruin it a bit. 2/3 small chunks of potato, small bit of carrot, one thin slice of beef, and a large Yorkshire pudding. I think they could do better portions.

Hosted a Hobbit themed birthday party here and it was outstanding! Ronan, Monica and team worked tirelessly to make sure the day was extra special with unique touches. Also, the food was spectacular! We had a wonderful time exploring the heritage of the pub which was frequented by JRR Tolkien himself. Everyone raved about the food and the service and the staff were able to link to our birthday themed Spotify playlist to add extra vibes.

Lovely staff and amazing food. We've visited the green dragon the first time my husband is obsessed with lord of the ring,hobbit. The food maybe pricer than the other pub but we really felt the taste was one of the best. We highly recommend x

Easily the best pub in the east of Cambridge. They have an amazing beer garden on the cam with staff constantly bussing tables. The food is amazing its a blend of pub food and Turkish food done really well, they also have an amazing Sunday roust highly recommend going. The staff always look allittle grumpy but they are actually very friendly. The one down side is the beer selection is not that big.

It was such a pleasure to meet the place and drink an ale in the pub that Tolkien used to go to. Nice ales and nice people!

Had the most amazing Turkish food here this evening with my husband and small dog. The Portuguese host was delightful and we were really looked after. Thank you we shall return soon! Yet again the Lebanese food was a sheer delight,lamb chops seasoned and cooked to perfection along with chicken tawook. A real hidden gem,service, and friendliest staff. Thank you for a lovely evening. Visited again this evening 16th of August yet again the food,staff and service were amazing. The locals made our evening,such lovely people, great banter and a lovely evening all round. Xx

We came to visit Cambridge and decided to come here due to my grandfather. A couple of months ago he had a fall, and the green dragon staff, a tall gent and a young girl he thinks her name was Monica came to his aid with a first aid kit. She patched him up and they were both so reassuring to him, taking him inside and helping him navigate - he is blind and came with a elderly friend. Because of the kindness shown we decided to come back, it was very busy, beautiful big garden with cows on the other side of the river roaming free. We had wraps and a mixed grill, the special veg wrap was very filling. Excellent selection of gins and ales too. But the staff make this pub, the girl on the bar last night had unbelievable multitasking skills and knew the menu confidently enough to give advice on allergens. Would recommend.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch for fourteen of us - eight adults and six children and couldn’t have had a better experience. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Above all the Lebanese food was freshly prepared, delicious and enjoyed by adults and children alike. The families had travelled from Essex, Suffolk and Leicestershire to meet up and The Green Dragon was the perfect venue.

I think it’s the best pizza in Cambridge! Such a nice pub & never too busy. Staff are welcoming and service is great! It’s a real treat for us coming here. Super relaxed. Love that they have boardgames / colouring for the kids.

Always love going to this pub. Midweek after work it’s the perfect place to quietly meet friends and have some really good pizza or burgers in a small, rustic, unfussy pub which is far enough out of town centre to be quite peaceful. Though it’s peaceful, the atmosphere is far from dead as the upstairs venue is frequently booked for small events and there are regular offers and quiz nights which bring in lots of locals. The Red Bull Newnham has become our regular and favourite go-to pub. Every week we ask ourselves, “Where shall we go tonight?”. The answer always seems to be, “The Red Bull”.

The food is always excellent. The beer is pretty good, but I almost always drink the low alcohol beer. The board games are mostly complete and handy for bored kids. The staff are lovely. We keep going back.

For a Monday, I was supper surprised at how busy it was! My partner and I ordered the two for £15 pizzas, which where well needed. Both where very good, and well enjoyed amongst the rest of the revilers.

Staff ignored me and served people behind me despite not being all that busy. Customer's are rude confronting people for sitting in "their" seats or talking about people as if they're not six feet away. Turns into a daycare centre at 5pm. Definitely not worth the marked up prices

we only had small gethering here. no food oredered. environment is quite typical bar in Cambridge, but good for locals. It is ok to have friends over there for a cup of beer.

Absolutely fantastic pub with its own range of beers on tap. Professional and friendly staff. Able to advise and help with selection. There are seats on the ground and on the first floor. On the first floor there are toilets with divided into three categories of users. Beers very good, but didn't manage to try them all. Interesting interior design with interesting texts on the walls. There are also yheir craft beers to take away. Great place!

Visited for my son’s birthday as he’s a fan of brewdog and enjoyed the bottomless beer and Wings offer! Got off to a wobbly start due to lack of ingredients but staff went out to shop locally so all then an available and fine for 2nd round of wings! The substitute roll for sub was fine and staff friendly and accommodating! Could clear dirty plates quicker as not great seeing them stacked in restaurant but looked low on staff so those working doing their best. It’s worth a visit for sure and the bottomless wings and beer definitely great value for money !! Fab being able to play rock, paper, scissors to win dessert!! Delicious it was too (cookie dough skillet with ice cream & cream)

Dropped in to Cambridge on my quest to get to 100 bars and was greeted by Georgie who was super friendly and engaging. I duly presented my beer visa’s and got two decent stamps v2 99 and v3 65. Thanks Georgie for not making a complete mess! I arrived just as the bar was opening, but it didn’t take too long before the bar felt alive as more discerning patrons walked through the door expecting a fresh pint! The bar itself is split level with an upstairs and a decent size and in a great location. To quench my thirst I started with a classic, Clockwork Tangerine followed by a Fruit Burst and a sample of a cheeky sour, Orange Creamsicle. Whilst enjoying the refreshing Fruit Burst I tucked into a chicken caesar salad, it certainly hit the spot. I finished my fleeting visit with the OG, a perfect pint of punk! Had I not been on the clock, I would’ve stayed happily for a few more drinks, perfect atmosphere with a great playlist in the background. Cheers Georgie

Food was superb! But waiting over 1 hour for the food to come, chasing multiple times for staff to ignore or forget you is very poor. The staff offered nothing but did cave into us asking for a free round on the house reluctantly. We even needed to chase that as they conveniently forgot about it. Overall good food and hopefully a one off.

we went for some chicken wings and they were great! buffalo sauce was awesome but gets spicier the more you eat heh and the bbq ones are amazing! we also ordered the death by chocolate dessert which was so good i needed a glass of refreshing cold water. if you ask a server to play rock, paper, scissors you might even get it free of charge! (unfortunately my boyfriend lost) good experience but it does get pricy though you can book wings wednesday for unlimited wings!! 🐓

Unfortunately my first visit to brewdog wasn't the best. We waited almost 35 minutes for our first portion of 10 cold wings with a sauce. After this we waited another 30 minutes for 5 cold wings with no sauce. As this was our first visit I was expected to be told a bit more by the server but it was all a bit all over the place. When I asked for some sauce I was told it only comes with the first plate of wings which was odd as no one explained this or we would ahve kepted our sauce from the first lot.Then a waiting time of 30 minutes in-between wings was crazy when you only have the table for hour or so. We order a portion of fries which came in a cup which looked like the end that had been sitting in a fryer or side tray which we couldn't even eat. Unfortunately I don't think I would visit again!!

I had an amazing experience at BrewDog thanks to Lewis’ exceptional customer service. From the moment we arrived, Lewis was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. He took the time to recommend drinks based on our preferences, explained the menu in detail, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. His enthusiasm and knowledge about the beers really stood out, and he created such a positive and relaxed atmosphere for us. Lewis went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, and it’s clear that he truly cares about providing top-quality service. We’ll definitely be coming back – BrewDog is lucky to have someone like him on their team!

We had food and drinks, staff very friendly. Chef lady was so nice. Very cozy place, Big tables and boardgames. Great taste of music.

In no particular order, the food was great and reasonably priced, the tables and toilet were clean and well kept for a pub, and the prices usual for Cambridge. Most notably, staff were extremely understanding and friendly as we came in with a friend with high functioning autism. Customer service was 10/10. Also as a cider drinker this is a must. There were so many options my head was spinning before even having one!

It is a nice relax pub atmosphere with good food. We had the bbq beef ribs with sweet potato chips and it was great. Even the Malbec wine was nice, deep and complex. Would definitely recommend for a nice relaxing lunch.

Due to the lack of soft furnishings and any sort of acoustic panels it's painful being in this pub for any period due to noise levels. It doesn't even need to be busy to be uncomfortable and all complaints go unheeded by the brewery. Avoid of you're sensitive to loud, echoey places.

Nice friendly pub with a great atmosphere and a good selection of Milton Brewery beers on tap. The jerk chicken was delightful. Be careful, they don't mess around with the spice level.

I love the owners , like family atmosphere , food is very nice , drinks are amazing with lots of types, for the ones who want to experience classic English Pub i would say go for it , i love this place , heart warming place i can say in cold Uk nights good for dinner or chilling , watching the football matches !

Lovely pub. Friendly staff. It's improved massively lately. Very clean. Beautiful real plants above the bar. Excellent west Indian food. Great coffee. And a wide selection of beers and spirits.milton and guest beers. Highly reccomended if you are passing. Nat, the new landlady is very friendly and welcoming. And a real rarity- it now has clean and brightly lit loos. With all sorts of complimentary bits and bobs.if you do drop in You wont be disappointed..

Great set of free games to play, both board and arcade Star Wars pinball, Mortal Kombat II, Pacman... We had half the pub to ourselves for a long while but always great, quick, friendly service in the side bar. Also a nice beer garden with lots of seating and sunny and shaded areas... live bands too!

Great cosy pub , nice atmosphere, staff friendly good customer service 👍 This is suitable for everyone including all disabilities. The have sound proof venue to hire and out door garden at the back of the pub . Car park is some what tricky in that area but there's plenty of buses and taxis. I walked from Cambridge train station to Chesterton road Portland Arms and took me 35 minutes and enjoyed taking photos on my walk too . Portland Arms had a great gig playing on 6th of August 2025 I saw Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) from Neighbours Australian soap series. It was amazing . Thankyou Portland Arms. I definitely recommend visiting here

They had a Gluten free pizza that was so good I had to double check it was GF. Food came quickly but soo yummy. They also had vegan cheese. So so good!

I went to a drag night at the Portland Arms and had a grand old time. Lovely atmosphere, particularly good sound and lighting for the show, and a damn good pizza to go with. The staff were friendly and sweet, particularly important to me as I'm no stranger to a weird reception on account of my appearance. I'll be back!

Great little pub with a real character and one of the best small live music venues I've been to. I came here for a gig and ended up staying way longer than planned because the atmosphere was just that good. The staff were friendly, drinks were fairly priced (solid selection of local ales and some decent ciders), and the sound quality in the venue space was surprisingly good for its size. It’s a bit tucked away compared to the pubs in the city centre, but totally worth the short walk. The performance room is intimate, so you really feel close to the bands; I saw a couple of up-and-coming indie acts and the energy was amazing. There’s also a beer garden out back which is great for pre-show pints or a chilled evening. Didn’t try the food this time, but I’ve heard good things about their burgers and nachos. If you're into live music or just want a proper pub with a welcoming vibe, this is a gem in Cambridge.

Incredible food, such a turn around from previous owners. The lamb and beef were both cooked to perfection, crispy potato’s. Great portion size for the price. We look forward to coming back.

Revisited today to try the new summer menu. The bass with summer broth and sweet potato crisp is phenomenal – like a work of art from Chef Matthew. The roast dinner is excellent, with perfectly cooked meat, crispy potatoes, and rich gravy. Service is outstanding, provided by the lovely Martha.

What a great spot, sat on the terrace for a birthday lunch and a cheeky cocktail, staff were friendly and attentive. Food was lovely and quick. We even went back for a dessert after a stroll. Would recommend a visit, they are closed Tues & Wed for reference

Fantastic evening spent at The Rupert Brooke , Food was amazing , Oysters for a cheeky nibble , followed by some tasty calamari, I also had the monkfish for main which was delicious and cooked to perfection, to finish off I had the Lemon tart, 10/10 for all the food , The service was outstanding , Max makes the most delicious Cocktails, Perfect place for a good catch up with friends , Pasc and his team really go above and beyond to make you welcome , If you haven’t yet visited I highly recommend 10/10 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great village pub. Simple as that. Staff all friendly and the owner a top bloke. Food itself absolutely bang on point, doubt I’ll ever have a better Caesar Salad than what I’ve eaten here.

Delicious food and a great selection of wines. We shared the hummus and sourdough and an affogato. Absolutely divine. The water jug (fish-shaped) was gorgeous.

We stopped by here for a few drinks on our way through Grantchester and were so impressed with the gorgeous setting, great selection of drinks and in particular the excellent staff! Although we didn't have time to stay for food, the menu looked so good that we made a point of coming back two days later for a Sunday roast, which were cooked to perfection and hands down the best Sunday roasts we've had in a long time (the veggie wellington especially). They're also dog-friendly and have some really lovely outdoors spaces to sit and take in the surroundings. 10/10, highly recommend!

A great little pub that's very inclusive and hosts some great events. It's not always easy to get served quickly but this time was a dream. I haven't eaten there but the pizzas look pizzarey.

It has come to my attention that I have not reviewed this incredibly important (not only to me, but to a lot of people) venue and pub. Let me be absolutely clear when I say, this is the most important place in Cambridge. It is a safe space for all people, where you can be yourself, and the only reason you might not feel that way is if being yourself involves being hateful towards others. It is unapologetically defensive of the rights of everyone to be able to come together, be kind, enjoy local music, drink an expertly curated variety of craft beer, and live safely. The bar staff are helpful and lovely, the management is knowledgeable and proactive, the food is delicious, the entertainment is wide ranging and inclusive. I love this pub and my love is based in all the ways the pub loves it's customers back.

This is probably my favourite pub in Cambridge! The pub itself is nice and atmospheric with a slightly alternative style and a nice big outdoor area. The inside is split into two halves, with one half hosting a wide range of events throughout each month, including several music nights, drag shows, and other events. There's a wide range of interesting drinks available, which change from time to time, keeping things interesting. They also label which drinks are vegan, which is very considerate. The staff there are all really friendly and welcoming. In fact the whole pub feels very welcoming, and feels particularly inclusive for minority groups. And lastly, the ultimate reason for going there: Oscar's Lockdown Pizza. They make incredible handmade pizzas. I have only tried the vegan pizzas, but I can tell you that they are easily the best vegan pizzas that I have ever eaten, and honestly, better than any non-vegan pizzas I've had in the past. They handmake their own vegan cashew cheese, so none of that artificial plasticy feety vegan cheese like you get from supermarkets, just genuinely tasty creamy succulence. I should also mention that I have it on very good authority (best friend) that the non-vegan pizzas are also the best in Cambridge.

I am a frequent Blue Mooner, and most recently went for their Summer Fair, which was an incredible time. Lovely little pub, immediately cosy, friendly and welcoming, particularly for Les Homosexuelles. Pizza is well priced, interesting, and with good vegan options (it'd be lovely if they could cater for coeliacs - I can't bring my coeliac friend here to eat). I'm not normally a pub-goer due to my specific brand of freakishness making me an ousider/tourist attraction, but that's never ever been a problem at the Blue Moon. I'll be back.

We had a lovely pint in this pub, I think it was of their expensive end of pints imported from Germany, lovely drink was worth trying. £7.60 for the pint, but I think rest of the drinks are in standard prices. Bar staff was friendly and very nice atmosphere.

Proper pub in a tourist town. Not many of these left. Pub of the year 2024. If you want a great pint then this is the place. Very central but hidden. Don't know if they do food but that is not what you come here for.

Took some time out from exploring Cambridge for the first time in a longtime and this looked like Champion Of The Thames was just the place to do it and that was a spot on hunch. The pub was busy, but fluked a table straight away. It's a Greene King pub, but also guest ales. Norfolk based Wolf Brewery is new to me, but if the beers are of the quality of their Black Wolf dark brown ale, can see myself taking a look at some of their other beers. Great atmosphere, it felt that beer and good company were the priority, can see myself going back when next in town and hopefully with a bit more time

A great little pub. A good selection of guest ales, well kept. It's a pleasant change from the other pubs I've been to in Cambridge which are all quite touristy.

Cambridge Pub Tour – No. 7: Champion of the Thames is now my favourite pub in Cambridge. It is located on King Street behind Jesus College, and although it is only four or five minutes away from King's College, tourists rarely find it. As a result, most of the patrons are residents and regulars who live nearby. The pub is named after a rower who lived there more than 200 years ago. It’s quite small, but it retains the character of a traditional English pub. Upon entering, the barman, Adrian, greeted us like old friends. He makes drinks for the regulars without them telling him what they want. Such a small space provides everyone the opportunity to have a drink whilst having a chat with the bartender or with the guests next to them. In the era of social distancing, this natural and communal social atmosphere is really rare. The pub is too small to serve hot food, but Adrian told me that they have a range of bar snacks sourced from a farm three miles away in Cambridge. So, I ordered a quiche and it really tasted good. Adrian also asked me to try their 3-year-old pickled onions to go with the quiche! Later, when we were unsure about what to drink next, Adrian gave us a free blind beer taste. I was already half drunk after the first round. If you want to experience the atmosphere of a traditional English pub and meet locals and residents, this bar is definitely the place to go.

Lawrence the owner is an absolute legend. His bar staff are nothing but helpful. Easy to get a drink and decent measurements! Also any advice regarding asking what to do in Cambridge this bar *opened in 1870* can give you proper decent and knowledgeable advice.

OK, I spotted the fireplace roaring and I was sold. We were warmly greeted by two members of staff and shown to a table. My abbot ale was in fine form and my partner enjoyed a perfectly prepared Gordon's and tonic. Both delivered in record time to our table. The atmopshere was as close to that of a cracking pub experience as we could have hoped. The cleanliness of the pub was fantastic. And both members of staff were completely 'on point' with policing the venue. We were looked after and felt safe at all times with both professionalism and humour. Great new venue paying tribute to Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd - which has been sadly lacking in Cambridge. It is open for coffee and cakes etc in the day - with a great central space for working. The floor is copied from a photo of Syd's own home. There is bar food through the day and evening and I understand there will be an events venue soon in the vault of the former bank. Looking forward to it. (No stars for food as I did not eat there)

Great spot on the river cam for drinks. Lots of seating outdoor and under cover in the teepee. Didn’t have any food but the pizzas looked amazing cooked fresh in the clay oven.

I’ve just had the best pie I’ve ever eaten at the Artyst, and I speak as a northerner who has eaten a lot of pies! Fantastic place, lovely staff, wonderful milkshakes as well (highly recommend the biscoff one).

Always love my time here. The view is great, the pizzas are always so tasty, and love a pitcher or two (or three) of Pimms while viewing the river. I also love how they're using an app to order and pay for food. It makes me feel more comfortable going out to restaurants knowing some forms of physical contact are minimised!

Just for clarity, I haven't been inside the Chesterton road address yet, the photos showing a sloped outdoor cafe and Museum of Technology, are of a venue of what is now called Kerb Collective situated on Riverside parallel to Newmarket road, very nr path up to the big Tesco. It may be that the Artyst cafe, dedicated to Syd Barrett, was involved (or still are) at the Riverside space, and have now relocated to the Chesterton road cafe space. Not sure. Will update when I go.
