Gastropub
The Crown & Punchbowl is a charming 17th-century coaching inn located in Horningsea, just three miles from Cambridge. The Grade II listed country pub offers a warm and cozy atmosphere with wood panelled walls, woodburning stoves, and Tudor beams. The nine rooms are decorated with a Scandinavian color scheme and contemporary furniture, providing a comfortable stay for guests. The gastropub downstairs serves modern British dishes made with seasonal ingredients and offers a great selection of local ales.
Just wanted to comment and say how impressed we were with the catering and service we received at a family wake today, especially as they catered for our son’s allergies. Thank you to the chefs and front-of house-staff, we really appreciate the care that was taken and the lovely food that was served. Highly recommend- we will come again.

Has been several times and always been very happy with my food but this time I was very disappointed, I had the Sunday roast , my beef was inedible, 80% fat and extremely tough !!! As for dessert, my friend had sticky toffee pudding which looked very good but I ordered the blonde which was more expensive but when it came every one on the table commented on how tiny the serving was compared to the other dessert’s!!!! At £9.50 I thought it was a rip off so be aware of what you get for your money Having posted this review the owner asked me to contact him so he could make things right, this was clearly not the case as I’ve contacted him directly 3/4 times and have not received anything back at all , Clearly the statement let us make it right is only to make it look good on the review answer and not his intention to make things right at all !!!!!

Lovely friendly service and great food. Our room was supplied with tea and a selection of pods for the Nespresso machine. The bed was made up with fine quality cotton linen and it was nice to have a lighter tog duvet in the warm weather
Jane R — Google review
I now eat at the Crown and Punchbowl fairly regularly. I like it the most out of the very good value Camcuisine pub/restaurants (I've tried them all). It has a lovely atmosphere and decor. The staff are excellent and seem to enjoy their job and provide good service. You are never rushed and the food is always good quality. All this and for those of you with Gothic leanings, the patio overlooks a graveyard. I would like to see some more offerings on the menu suitable for summer (lighter etc), and unless I am mistaken there used to be more specials? But that's a minor quibble. I have eaten out all over Cambridge (admittedly Cambridge is not great for food), and whilst this is not "fine dining" I think it offers the best balance of value for money, quality and ambience in the Cambridge area.
Brian D — Google review
We stayed a night in this lovely pub after a visit to Cambridge. It was a short drive to get there from the city, but the thatched roof houses and quaint village made you feel like you were a world away. The staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and the standard double room was more then big enough for a night's stay. There were lots of amenities in the room, and a very comfy bed with lovely cotton sheets. The evening meal had a varied menu and was delicious with great service too. We would definitely reccomend a visit.
Kathy W — Google review
Wow had an amazing 2 nights stay here. Room was lovely, air conditioned and clean. Meals were amazing, staff so friendly and cannot fault this place. Would definitely recommend and happy to stay again. Thank you 😀
Deana H — Google review
We came here for Sunday Roast and tried both the beef and pork options. The pork roast was definitely the star for us, it was tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. They are often fully booked on Sunday, so make sure to make a reservation.

Pub
Restaurant
Located in the heart of Cambridge, Anchor is a cozy pub offering modern British cuisine and a riverside terrace. With its candle-lit ambiance, it's a great spot to enjoy awesome views of the city and the River Cam. The large dining room overlooks the banks, while an outside terrace provides a perfect setting for sunny days. Visitors can watch people punting down the river from this picturesque spot.
Staff here are so friendly always have our drinks ready when we walk in! My partner did the McMillan charity shots and as I’m pregnant and couldn’t participate they made me my own special drinks! Been coming here for over a year now, and never a bad experience They are all a credit to the company
Lucy M — Google review
The location is great, near Mathematical bridge and overlooking river Cam. However, this place is often super crowded especially the terrace during warm and sunny weather. There are calmer and quieter places around. Food was average. I don’t like that they require a code to enter the toilet. I understand you don’t want people who are not customers to use them but it’s very unwelcome surprise if you’re a client to deal with extra bother.
Culture T — Google review
Lovely multi floor pub with a small but nice outdoor space to watch the punting on the water. An easy walk from town and a great stop before hopping on the river. The food is great and varied and the Korean fried chicken came highly recommended. Beers are priced as you’d expect for Cambridge with the one 4% IPA they have on draft costing about £7.
Ansley B — Google review
We had some cider which was super good! However, I wasn’t accustomed to ciders in general so I politely ask for the bartender for a recommendation for a sweeter cider, and even though his recco was amazing, it was delivered on a very dry and bored tone that made me feel bad for asking. Not the friendliest place, that’s for sure. But nice location and cool old building with multiple levels and a great terrace with beautiful views of the river.
Teodora M — Google review
Great view of Cam river and punting scene. Good and beers are decent. Steak is quite good actually. Scotch eggs are good starter!
Petch M — Google review
Great place! The bar tender gave me great advices for nice beers, including local ones. I also had the chance to listen to an amazing band! I spent a great evening in the vibe a British Pub. Will come again when I will pass by Cambridge !
Alexandre N — Google review
Very beautiful historic pub! The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating and felt theybwere really ontop of everything. Beers were very tasty, well preserved and a good variety of choices. Place needs a bit of love as it does seem neglected but seems pretty tidy considering the state of the building. (The walls in the dinning room look horrid 🫢) Highly recommend this place nevertheless and will be back soon for a visit!
M S — Google review
⭐ Not even worth one star for how we were treated! We sat at a table to order a roast and were immediately asked, “Who put you here?” — as if we’d done something wrong. We explained we’d just seated ourselves and were planning to have the roast. The waitress then said the upstairs area was closing and told us to move downstairs. Fair enough — but several tables around us were still eating and drinking, so we decided to just finish our drinks and leave. A few minutes later, we were told we “couldn’t eat food we hadn’t bought there” — even though it was just a packet of crisps we’d purchased from their bar. The staff insisted we couldn’t eat them because “they’re not hot food and we’re closing” — which made absolutely no sense. Then, within the next minute, the table right beside us was served their starter! So apparently, they were “closing” — but still serving other tables? Completely inconsistent, rude, and unnecessarily aggressive. We left feeling shocked by how poorly we were spoken to. Definitely won’t be returning.

The Corner House is a charming pub located in Cambridge, offering a wide range of food and drinks at affordable prices. The establishment features a beer garden and green space, creating a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. Customers can enjoy classic dishes such as pies, sausage and mash, fish and chips, as well as Mediterranean cuisine and stone-baked pizzas. Additionally, the pub is dog-friendly with treats and water available for furry companions.
I went there yesterday for the first time. It is a Nepalese restaurant now, but still a pub. Their food is amazing. We also ordered to take away (chicken rum rum) and it was spectacular even one day after. 👌 I really recommend this place if you're in Cambridge or if you live here but you've never been here.
Teresa T — Google review
Came in for a late-night beer and was pleasantly surprised to find that The Corner Inn is also a fantastic Nepalese restaurant. They have a great selection of beers on tap. I couldn't resist trying the veggie momo as a snack, and they were absolutely lovely! The full menu looks brilliant, and I'll definitely be coming back for a proper meal. A great find!
Ranjit C — Google review
Come again after remodeling. The menu is different from the previous one. Had a rack of lamb and a mushroom rice. A beer of course. Lamb is great, it is soft and served with the home made sauce. But I miss the pasta hope it will come back at some point.
Chau L — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stopped over in Cambridge for the night on our way to Norfolk and decided to pop into The Corner House as it was just over the road from our hotel — so glad we did! The staff were really welcoming, polite, and friendly, and the service was quick and efficient. Our meals were absolutely lovely — freshly cooked and full of flavour. It’s a great little pub with a warm atmosphere, and we had a really enjoyable evening. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
Donna R — Google review
The pub had a seafood Weekend so we went and the food was delicious. We had a sharing platter and a couple of mains each that were very good. The mains were very good but one was quite peppery, and when we asked for it to have some cheese and cream added to perhaps take the edge off, which they did, they then gave us a free dessert of their own volition. They also have some cool retro games and there’s lots of seating and space inside and in the beer garden. The staff are really nice and it seems as though there’s a lively community and schedule of events kept regularly up to date
James D — Google review
I'd definitely go again! Very good Nepali dishes. Specially the goat curry and MOMO!

The restaurant features well-spaced tables and minimalist decor, creating a comfortable atmosphere for diners. Guests can enjoy small but perfectly formed plates from the menu, including plant-based, fish, and meat options.
The restaurant is a hidden gem! The food was superb and the staff were lovely. Every single dish on the tasting menu was delicious. I also thought the prices were quite reasonable. Perfect for a birthday celebration. Cannot wait to go back.

Such a great spot! Ideal for a date or a family gathering. The space was Elegant but comfortable, Our waitresses were warm but professional, and the food was exceptional. Elevated takes on classic dishes and all still approachable and cooked to perfection. Nice wine selection too, and all at reasonable prices. Worth the walk along the river from Cambridge!
James W — Google review
Heard great things about the restaurant from friends, so took the opportunity to try it with a new colleague and his wife. Exceptionally friendly service, very creative food, and modest portion sizes meant we could enjoy the completed tasting menu and not feel overly full at the end. The matching flight of wine was excellently paired with the food. Quality of food was outstanding, unusual variations on standard themes.
Hazheat — Google review
The most charming, wonderful little place. But the food is really next level. We couldn't have enjoyed it more. Bib gourmand kind of food, but obviously done by someone who knows how to deliver at even higher levels. Precisely what we wanted.
D. W — Google review
It is absolutely a great news to see MJPsheperds' reopening. Now it's called Ancient Shephards, with chef Mark Poynton as before. We has chosen the 3 course menu. The food was well presented with nice taste. The dessert Apricot Ice Cream Sandwich was a surprise to us. We all had a lovely time.
Willia P — Google review
We came for lunch with my father, who had recently had a stroke. The staff were particularly warm and hospitable, without ever fussing. The food was excellent. We had a wonderful time. Highly recommended.
Matt W — Google review
What an amazing evening! We went for dinner with some friends, and had a lovely time. You get all the attention to detail and exciting flavour combinations of fine dining, but without the fussiness or eye watering bill at the end. The service was top class, and the tasting menu was varied and well paced - the picanha steak and the chocolate mousse were two highlights, but it was all gorgeous. It's brilliant that you can get this level of cooking in a jeans-and-a-nice top kind of relaxed atmosphere. We'll be back, with the family next time!
Chris R — Google review
Had a lovely lunch here. The dishes were all well balanced in flavour and thoughtfully put together, presented very nicely. Although at the more expensive end of restaurant pricing, the quality and portion size matched this, with my family leaving feeling well sated. Would definitely recommend.

The Red Lion is a charming gastropub located in the picturesque village of Grantchester, just outside Cambridge. With its stunning thatched roof and landscaped garden, it offers an upmarket British menu featuring traditional pub food made to a high standard. The pub also provides comfortable en-suite rooms, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. Situated in the southwest outskirts of town, this vibrant country pub serves freshly prepared dishes using locally sourced produce whenever possible.
I've finally found somewhere locally that has fantastic Sunday lunches. The food was excellent, big portions & very tasty. The pub is very nice inside & the garden looked wonderful. All the staff were absolutely brilliant. I can't believe that it's ny first time eating there.

Stopped of for a drink, very hot day, staff friendly and a lovely public house. In a pretty area. Sat in the garden with family who live nearby, most enjoyable place.

A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Flavors and Atmosphere I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Red Lion, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for what turned out to be an outstanding meal. The menu offers a perfect balance between classic pub fare and innovative dishes, each crafted with a focus on quality and freshness. I started with the chicken skewers which was an explosion of flavour. For the main course, I opted for the Rib-eye special, and it did not disappoint. The portion sizes were generous, and the flavors were spot on. The drink menu is equally impressive, with a well-curated selection of beers, wines, and creative cocktails. The staff was knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations. What truly stood out was the service—attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food and drink they were serving. It’s clear that the team at The Red Lion takes great pride in providing a top-notch dining experience.

Title: Exceptional Service and Classic Charm at The Red Lion! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My partner and I dined at The Red Lion last night, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish! This charming British pub truly captures the essence of warm hospitality. We must give a special shout-out to our server, Alice. She was the highlight of our evening! Alice was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and had the perfect balance of professionalism and genuine warmth. Her recommendations were spot-on (double chess burger was sublime!), and she anticipated our needs without being intrusive. Her friendly demeanor and efficiency made us feel genuinely well-cared for. The atmosphere was cozy and authentically British, with low ceilings, wooden beams, and a welcoming fireplace. The food was superb – classic dishes executed flawlessly with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The sticky toffee pudding was heavenly! The Red Lion excels not just in food and ambiance, but in service thanks to staff like Alice. It’s clear they value their customers. We’ll definitely be returning soon and highly recommend it for anyone seeking a truly lovely British dining experience.

Amazing service, very quick, polite and engaging. Lovely dog , family friendly atmosphere. The Sunday roasts are great (particularly the beef and lamb)!! Play area for kids is also great fun and there are good options for deserts and starters, will definitely be back to try more of the menu 😊

Good food and delicious cocktails, the set menu is great value for money. Staff were all really helpful and friendly. Lovely pub with a good atmosphere and in a great location with plenty of parking. Would definitely recommend coming here.
Rich S — Google review
Update: wow - lots of water and dog bowls! Thanks!! 🐶🐶🐶 NOT DOG FRIENDLY. A well placed pub with some good food and a friendly atmosphere. My main gripe is they have a big sign outside saying they are dog friendly, and indeed there are many dogs, but on two recent occasions I’ve found it almost impossible to get water for my dog. In the summer it’s absolutely essential to have a good supply of large, full water bowls. We shouldn’t have to be walking around trying to find the single tiny and empty bowl and then have to queue at the bar to get it filled only to have to do it again in a few minutes as it’s too small - there were other people with the same problem as me when I was there. I appreciate dogs bring in a lot more customers, especially somewhere here near the meadows where so many people walk with their dogs, so you really do need to sort out the water situation, especially in summer. Solution is simple. Invest in a good supply of large bowls. Invest in outdoor water supply. If not a tap then a large barrel that’s occasionally checked to be sure it’s not empty. This is the sort of setup I’ve seen many times with larger busy food-first pubs where dogs are a core component of the patron demographic. Looking forward to changing my revew to be more positive in the future :)

The Brewers Inn is a charming traditional pub with a restaurant and beer garden, offering cozy rooms in converted stables. Located in Milton, it's conveniently close to the Cambridge Science Park and the picturesque Milton Country Park. The inn features a British/Indian gastropub menu with options for vegans and vegetarians. The four attractive bedrooms are situated in a separate stable block, providing a peaceful retreat. Guests praise the well-kept range of local ales and commend the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Competitive Pub Trying to write reviews for the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this restaurant. The menu is relatively limited compared to Milton Arms and Lion&Lamb nearby, but still competitive. The lamb rump was in Indian style, very soft and tender that melted into your mouth. With a nice salad. But the rice was slightly dry and stuck together, probably slightly stuck into the bottom of the cooker? The burger was really nice. It had both quality and quantity. Large and juicy burger. Not oily. The chips were hot and tasted very good, in generous quantity. The restaurant is rustic but clean. The toilets are clean and roomy. The staff was nice and helpful. He offered help even we didn't request. Overall it's a competitive business in Cambridge.
Pui L — Google review
Called in on a wet evening for a quick evening meal with my dog. Staff were most accommodating allowing me to eat in the bar with the dog but not in the restaurant, understandable. I chose just a burger and chips although the menu was much more extensive. The food arrived hot and quickly. Chips were good and plenty full, salad was not to fussy as I like it. Burger was a good thick piece of meat but was a bit lacking in flavour. Bar was quiet approx 15 customers. I would eat there again if I was in the area.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at The Brewers and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely comfortable rooms sit behind the pub and restaurant. The food is gorgeous, with an Indian twist on some pub classics. We will definitely return again.

Just popped in on a Sunday and what a great place. Excellent food and superb service. I would add that I do not agree with a service charge (12.5%) being added. I will decide if the service is worth rewarding, not you. Yes, it’s discretionary but this tactic puts some customers into an embarrassing situation where it’s easier to pay rather than speak up and you exploit this awkward situation to your advantage. As it happens, and as I said the service was superb and I would have happily tipped at least 20%. Your reviews are great, reconsider applying the service charge.

Had a fantastic meal here tonight. We Happened to book a table at this place at short notice when in Cambridge dropping our daughter off. What an excellent choice purely by chance! The food was amazing and so well done. The restaurant is cozy and the staff were absolutely brilliant. Lovely decor throughout and price was excellent value for money. Can't recommend it enough. If you are ever in the area then you should try it out, you will not be disappointed!

Great little pub tucked away from the main road in Milton that serves high quality local real ales and always has helpful and happy staff working. Great front and backyard drinking areas too. Can't big this place up enough.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best hotel to stay in when in Cambridge. We stayed here on the evening of our wedding and the staff were so helpful, efficient and friendly. They left us a complimentary bottle of fizz and a congratulations card. We have stayed many times since and have always had a wonderful stay.

We had a really lovely stay here. Loved the decor, the bed was extremely comfortable, the gardens lovely, and the bathroom spacious. The on-site parking was also a massive bonus. Location is excellent— very easy walking into the city center. Breakfast was also very good, with decent coffee. We stayed in one of the bigger King rooms in the other building because I really wanted a bath tub. I felt that the bathrooms could’ve been better cleaned: the tub needed a good scrub, and the shower spout had mold on it. My only other complaint is the additional charge for parking. For a hotel of this price, and given the amount of space they have, I think complimentary parking would be a really appreciated perk. But all in all, an excellent hotel with great service, and I would definitely stay again.

We stayed at this lovely hotel on 27-28 of september as a treat night away from our children. We loved the hotel and the bar was beautiful. We felt that the room was a little bit too small for us but the bathroom was lovely, bright and big. I have lefr a one star because of 2 things 1. The bathroom toilet brush was very dirty and felt that was not acceptable at a 4* hotel and needed a change. 2. We were really looking forward to a long nights sleep as you can imagine when you have kids that does not happen a lot. When we turned the light off to go to bed we noticed that the emergency exit light was so bright we wont be able to sleep. We noticed that the light had its cap missing and thats why it was much brighter than it supposed to be. We called the reception and night manager came and advised they cant do anything with it and they dont have any spare rooms for us to move. He advised to speak to manager in the morning. At our checkout receptionist advised that she wont be able to do anything about it but will take down our details and manager will get in touch with us. We waited few days and my partner wrote an email asking for an update on the situation however we are still waiting on a reply. We feel that every hotels main responsibility is to ensure that their guests get a good nights sleep and in this situation we were left in a bright room to sleep which was very hard and ruined our night away. We understand that night manager might not be allowed to touch the emergency exit light under normal circumstances but as per the pictures attached its clear that this one is broken and lights up all the room. We feel that solution should have been found at the time even if its a tape over it to cover the light a little. Following this review the management has been in touch and refunded us 50% of the price.

The hotel was not what I expected. I feel it’s all style but lacks the functionality. The room I stayed in had a few issues: the window that does not stay open (also opens about 20 percent), the lack of view (facing another building), the basic mini fridge that was not on and does not get cold properly (on/off only), a constantly flickering light bulb, and the ancient air conditioning system that has no control of keeping a constant temperature… my bathroom only had a rainfall shower head, which I suppose makes cleaning challenging? The surface of the bathtub was not clean on my check-in so gave up on having a bath. Parking was possible only if a space is available, first come first serve basis, for £28 per night. I only found it out after booking a room and contacting them, so I just decided to leave it at a park&ride. The bed was comfortable and the location was superb, and it looks nice on the outside. Nothing extraordinary with the staff members, the reception staff was rather indifferent. All in all, a huge disappointment. Would expect everything to be smooth and comfortable at a 4 star hotel.

Unfortunately we found the hotel to be over rated and a bit of a disappointment. The most positive aspect was that everyone that worked there was very lovely and friendly, from Abby at the font desk to the head of housekeeping and the hard working waiters that we encountered. We had to change our first room because it smelled like urine. Staff was more than happy to help us switch spaces. We found our second room to be outdated and it seemed unvacuumed and a little worn and dirty (we found a lipstick container and other evidence on the floor). However the bathroom was clean and more modern. Lovely shower. The lobby and outer spaces were very nice and had an elegant feel. Breakfast was sub par. The buffet went un-replenished of various things both days. The breakfast cooked food lacked inspiration and tasted mediocre. We had to send back a full english breakfast because it was cold and unpleasant tasting (sausage and hash browns in particular). The self serve morning coffee situation was unfortunate as well, creating a long queue of guests until the machine broke. Also, attempts to pre arrange for a take away breakfast accommodation at 6:30am were not met despite several requests and attempts. All in all, it was a series of small and medium disappointments that left us feeling that we had been a bit hustled by a place resting on its laurels. Although it seemed that staff tried their best with what they had to work with.

From the moment I arrived at the Gonville Hotel, I knew my stay was going to be something special. The drive up was absolutely beautiful, setting the perfect tone for what was to come. There was ample parking, which made everything easy and stress-free. I arrived quite early and asked if I could leave my car before check-in, and the team were more than happy to accommodate, which I really appreciated. As I stepped into the hotel, I was met by the beautiful Abi at reception, who greeted me with warmth and genuine hospitality. Abi was incredibly helpful, professional, and accommodating, the ideal first impression. We spent some time exploring the city centre before returning for check-in, which was handled smoothly and efficiently. Everything felt effortless, and the service throughout was faultless. This wasn’t my first stay at the Gonville, and it’s easy to see why we decided to return. The standard of service here continues to shine. Our room was in immaculate condition. It was beautifully styled, welcoming, and exuded comfort and elegance. From the moment I stepped in, I knew my break was going to be truly beautiful. We had also booked a Bentley Drive Tour of Cambridge, which took place the following morning. Our guide, Zain, was an absolute pleasure. He is a true fountain of knowledge when it comes to Cambridge’s history and culture. His storytelling was captivating, and he brought the city to life in such a memorable way. We learned so much, and his passion made the experience feel personal and enriching. I would happily book a tour with him again, as he is a real credit to the Gonville Hotel. For dinner on our first evening, we were looked after by Robert, the Food and Beverage Manager. His service was exceptional, warm, attentive, and genuinely polished. He has a wonderful way of making guests feel special, and the food was beautifully prepared and presented. The experience was flawless. On the second evening, we dined again and were served by Nico, who was equally outstanding. He was incredibly accommodating and attentive, ensuring we were looked after the entire evening. He made sure that we were always comfortable, our glasses were never empty, and we wanted for nothing. His professionalism and kindness elevated the whole experience. Breakfast was good, though I did notice that it has slightly declined compared to last year. It’s still enjoyable, but it no longer feels as luxurious as before. However, my only true disappointment with the Gonville is the change in toiletries. I really dislike the downgrade from Penhaligon’s to Urban Apothecary. It just does not work. The fig scent is unpleasant, lacks character, and simply doesn’t match the class and sophistication of the Gonville. In all honesty, it stinks. The change cheapens what is otherwise a five-star experience, and for me, it genuinely affected the overall enjoyment of my stay. Despite this, the Gonville Hotel remains a beautiful, elegant place with outstanding service and exceptional staff. Abi, Zain, Robert, and Nico each played a part in making our stay truly special, and they deserve the highest praise.

Staff very attentive and knew what they were doing, we did the Bentley tour with Mike, which we really enjoyed. Food nice, beds very comfortable, great water pressure in the shower, and they had conditioner! My only complaint would be the sound of the music carried up through the ceiling, and you could hear the person walking above, this didn't bother my mother in the room, but it did bother me, I had ear plugs with me so I was able to put them in to go to sleep.

We had a wonderful stay at the Gonville hotel the 2 nights following our wedding day. They very kindly had arranged a complimentary bottle of prosecco and handwritten card in our room to congratulate us which was a lovely touch. The location was great, just on the outskirts of the city centre with some nice cafes and restaurants nearby. We managed to get a booking for the Bentley experience which was such a lovely part of our stay and our driver Mike was fantastic. We also both had a massage in the spa with Siobhan who was kind enough to fit us in last minute and did an amazing job.

Rectory Farm is a refined hotel located in a Georgian home, offering an outdoor pool, tennis court, and sprawling gardens. The stunningly beautiful property provides elegant charm with traditional style House rooms and contemporary Chalet building rooms. It's surrounded by 50 acres of parkland and fields, creating a peaceful and picturesque experience. Despite being an old building, the gorgeously decorated rooms are well-equipped with thoughtful amenities.
We used Rectory Farm as our wedding reception venue, and it was so lovely. It was so lovely to see our guests being able to chat, have reception drinks and play games on the lawn in the sun; we got some gorgeous photos around the venue, and a food van being able to provide evening food. We also loved that most of our guests were able to stay on site at the venue. We were also relieved when the venue offered cooked breakfast to all our guests. My husband and I loved being able to stay in the wedding suite too.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The “hotel” if you could call it that, does not have any service or anybody at the hotel past 10pm or before 4pm. Unfortunately we had arrived at the hotel past 10pm and nobody was there to provide us with our keys or tell us where our keys were. I attempted to call their “24 hour phone line”, to which no one answered me. Thankfully I knew someone at the location and they let me sleep in their room for the night. We weren’t the only ones met with this issue as another couple arrived the next day in the same situation and we weren’t thankfully able to help them, something the staff should be doing. There are no CCTV cameras around the building or in the corridors, so I didn’t feel very safe, especially as it is in a very remote location. When we told the receptionist about the issues we faced, we were faced with poor excuses stating that someone should have answered the phone. The rooms are also not the cleanest, I found an old snickers bar by the bedside table (delicious, thank you so much rectory farm). We were on the ground floor and the blinds were not working properly, so therefore privacy was a bit of an issue. Completely disappointed and really not worth the price, even though they do call themselves a “budget hotel”. I hope they sort themselves out.

Hi would like to leave my honest review, Found on booking.com was a amazing looking place so I booked it was more than happy to pay a deposit the room was lovely just as described reception is open from 4 pm until 10 pm with a additional phone line if need anybody . At 12.32 AM at night we was receiving knocks at the window and then I was woke up from my wife to inform me off kids trying to climb into our room as we was in a ground floor property after trying to find staff and contact was non existent stayed awake as was to hot close windows and no fan provided to raise the concerns in the morning funny enough no reception at all only 4 pm until 10 pm with raising my concerns owners have started not there problem to be blunt after email contact . So I’m giving my honest review all partners was just concerned of taking the room fee and nothing more many thanks for my stay .

Stayed at Rectory Farm last weekend with my boyfriend. We were so pleasantly surprised. The hotel being a 3 star we didn't have much expectation, but it was lovely! The grounds are gorgeous, brilliant location to the city centre (10 mins drive), we stayed in the main house and the room was great. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return again. Highly recommended.

Attractive complex, but difficult to reach without a car (10-minute walk to the nearest bus stop). Please note: not suitable for groups, as there is no attractive lounge area apart from the terrace and garden – which seems to be very explicitly discouraged. The pretty breakfast room is locked after breakfast, the so-called bar can seat about two people and closes at 10 p.m., there is no lobby and the so-called “lounge” is a windowless cubbyhole with three crammed-in sofas, locked from 10 p.m. onwards... all in all, not very inviting. The rooms are really okay, but the whole complex is completely deserted during the day, you have to pay for everything extra, everything is constantly locked (pool use costs £5), the service is very sparse overall – if there are any staff present at all, they tend to be defensive, and there is never anyone there who can make any decisions.

Stayed here for 2 nights in September 2025. The location is OK for Cambridge, but is 15 minutes drive into town. The price was acceptable. The grounds are nice. Our room was pretty small. It was cold on arrival, but we were able to put the temperature up. The marquis was very cold in the evening and there was no heating, although I saw one of the staff putting the heater away earlier in the day. No hand towels were provided in the bathroom and only 1 tiny bar of soap - no shampoo or shower gel. The toilet paper was the thinnest I have ever seen. The WiFi was very poor - I doubt you could do a video call here. The reception was very poorly managed and several guests in our large group had difficulties getting a room, despite booking months previously. Astonishingly, the parents of the bride had to drive home after the reception as the hotel had somehow lost some of their group booking! The housekeeping team were all very nice and friendly. The hotel wanted £5 extra to use the pool and £4.99 if you ordered a takeaway, (even though they don't have a restaurant after breakfast). Parking was £5, which is unusual for a countryside location and very strangely it was £20 for a large car or van, even if it fitted in a regular parking slot. To top it all, the brothers of the groom were having a sing song after the band went home and have been threatened with a £1,000 to £2,000 penalty. It was fairly late - but this was a wedding celebration. I wouldn't book anything here ever.

Great rooms, good value. I thought the buffet breakfast was of an ok standard and therefore poor value; I would go into the centre of Cambridge another time. Staff largely absent which can make it seem a little soulless. The location is awkward if wanting to spend time in Cambridge; too far to walk, cycling combative with other road users, and my experience generally of parking in Cambridge is ticket-happy traffic wardens, so be careful.

Lovely location and rooms, quite thin walls and the mattress was quite soft and springy, but I had quiet neighbours and will sleep on anything

Tucked away in a quiet residential area of Cambridge, The Elm Tree is a cozy and quirky pub offering an array of real ales, Belgian beers, and artisan ciders. The interior is adorned with retro and vintage advertising signs, creating a fun museum-like atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the unique decor featuring upside-down hats on the ceiling and an abundance of photos from past events. This charming establishment boasts a relaxed ambiance with seating along the alley for sunny days and live music performances several times each month.
A pub that is worth visiting when coming to Cambridge, because it offers the classic concept of a drinking establishment that is part of British culture. It is located in an urban residential area but the vibe it offers is a unique situation from a typical British drinking place. There is no food for sale, only drinks –whether containing alcohol such as beer, spirits or wine– or non-alcoholic drinks. This pub has had some positive reviews and when I visited it certainly was. A pleasant conversation with the bartender and the atmosphere typical of a British drinking establishment make for an unforgettable impression. The pub also serves a wide range of Belgian beers, beside British local and general ales. Greetings from Indonesia.

What am absolute gem of a pub. Stumbled upon this pub whilst wandering wearily. I came to Cambridge from London for the day, and having had a whole day of walking was looking for a little refreshment before getting the train home. I must admit, I did step in feeling it had a bit of a social club type of feel to it, but my fears were soon dissipated. All of the patrons were cheerful and smiley, Jenny the bartender was friendly and very helpful with suggesting a nice IPA for me. A huge choice of ales here and also a separate menu of Belgian beer if that is your fancy. I will definitely be dropping in here again next time I visit Cambridge. Meanwhile, I shall quietly weep that this is not my local.

🎶🍺 Last week I visited this pub and it turned out to be such a great evening! The place itself has a really cozy, traditional English atmosphere — the kind of spot where you instantly feel comfortable and welcome. But the absolute highlight of the night was the live music. Rupert was singing, and honestly, I was blown away 😍. His voice is incredible, and the way he connects with the audience makes the whole performance even more special. Every song felt full of energy and emotion — it completely lifted the vibe of the room. I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but I left with a huge smile on my face. If you love live music in a friendly, authentic pub setting, this is the place to be. I’ll definitely be back for the next performance! 🙌🎤🍻

I was fascinated by this place and I love it. The treatment was amazing, the guy was super nice to us, the people it is super kind, and seems to be like a big family. They have a huge variety of Belgian-style beers starting with delirium and finishing with lambic ones, so if you love Belgian beer this is the place for you. I really recommend you some Christmas beer 🍺, they are amazing 🤩🤩. We will definitely repeat the experience 🥰🤩. They have some events in August so don't miss them!

My first time at The Elm Tree but certainly not the last. My friends and I walked around the center for a bit before going to The Elm Tree; it wasn’t a particularly warm evening and I was feeling rather chill. Was not in the mood for beers and really really wanted something hot to drink. So while my friends were ordering their ales, I asked a bar keeper if they could maybe make me a cup of tea — and what do you think? They kindly prepared one for me even though it was clear it’s not something they usually serve. It was genuinely nice and kind thing to do. In addition to that, I got asked if I would like to have a piece of lemon in my tea after I mentioned I didn’t usually drink my tea with milk. Never got asked something like that in all my time spent in the UK and was both happy and nostalgic since that’s how we drink tea in my home country. It was such a small thing but it meant a lot. I am looking forward to trying the impressive selection of their Belgian ales — and thank you again for your kindness, The Elm Tree!

Nestled in the charming village of Grantchester, the Red Lion is a delightful pub that beckons travelers with its picturesque thatched roof and inviting atmosphere. Just a short stroll from the scenic Grantchester Meadows and only 20 minutes along the River Cam from Cambridge, this idyllic spot is perfect for those looking to unwind. The Red Lion boasts a lovely garden where patrons can bask in the sun during warmer days while enjoying delicious meals.
We've recently moved to the area and in the process of exploring the local culinary landscape. This establishment was a wonderful discovery. A lovely quiet garden, friendly staff and quick service all just complemented what was undeniably a fantastic Sunday lunch. The food was well seasoned, the meat treated with respect and rested appropriately and a lovely range of sides (just ask the kids!) All in all, completely surprised and will definitely be bringing the family back again. Cherry on top? Wonderful value for a family of 4. Many thanks to all at the Red Lion! 🙏

Since the new owners took over, about April 2025 I think, there has been a massive improvement in the pub. It has always been an architecturally interesting and historic building but I'm afraid it had lost it's customer sparkle. Fast forward to today and the two owners cannot do enough for you. I'm a real ale man and their ales are certainly top notch. Service is superb, they are laying on events such as quiz nights and music afternoons, the garden is beautifully laid out and can accommodate a lot of customers comfortably. I have lived locally to Cambridge most of my life but only 9 years in Cherry Hinton, I know there used to be a lot of good pubs but long gone, now there is finally one to call a local.

The Anstey Hall Hotel is a luxurious country house lodging with eclectic rooms, 12 acres of gardens and event space. The hotel is situated in Trumpington, a 15-minute drive from the city centre and offers peaceful surroundings ideal for those seeking tranquility. There are just 21 rooms in the hotel and all feature Victorian-style wood beaming and many boast enticing features like four-poster beds, fireplaces and clawfoot baths.
This is a truly unique hotel with so many things to look at, it’s quirky and historic. The grounds are pretty, the location makes it easy to get around too. I can honestly say it was the first place I’ve stayed where a giant wooden wall conceals a magic door to your bathroom!! We were lucky enough to stay when no event was happening so it was very quiet and fun to have a drink at their little bar.

Beautiful opulence but informal environment. Every time we stay we feel like we are home and treated like one of the family. After a long drive we are greeted by a roaring crackling fire, grab a drink from a forgotten tradition, the honesty bar and relax. We stayed up in the billiards room with strangers playing cards and became old friends. The rooms are kept very warm, usually the opposite in such an old property. We sat at breakfast amongst the quirky decorations with the owner. If there is anything you prefer for breakfast (dietary requirements) they are only too happy to cater and make delicious poached eggs over the scrambled egg buffet. Check out is 10.30 however they are very understanding for delay. I cant wait to come back!!!!

The Castle Bar, located in the heart of Cambridge's historical center, offers a cozy and stylish atmosphere for visitors to enjoy delicious pub fare and a wide selection of drinks. With its six guest rooms, it provides a convenient city center location at a competitive price for those looking to stay overnight. The bar also hosts entertainment on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays until late into the night.
Me and my cousin stayed here Saturday night we went to afew pubs in town then came back here to finish out night. This was by far the best place in town we went all night the music, the atmosphere, the bar staff was so good. We really enjoyed ourselves. I would like to make a massive mention to the door men they were so alert and handled situations with calmness and respect. A special thank you goes to John the door man we had a issue with 2 elder men that would not leave us alone for the last couple hours of the night John noticed this and we spoke to him as we felt uncomfortable. John assured us he would keep his eye on them and he did as soon as they came near John was there moving us safely and discreetly away fro them. But this got to much and the pub was closing soon so we decided to just go up and to our room, John escorted us up the stairs to make sure we got there safely and the men did not follow us. So I would like to say a big thank you to you John as I was feeling anxious about this and you made me feel safe. I would recommend this pub for a good night out and stay in a room upstairs so convenient and such a nice place with lovely staff

Breakfast was great, and the ladies serving it were lovely. The bedding and towels were clean. The location is great and it has parking. That’s all that is good about it. The hotel is run down, the windows are dirty, the paint is flaking and they are falling apart. The bathroom was full of black mold stains and limescale. There is no receptionist outside of checking in times. So no one to help with complaints or help with issues. There are plans to upgrade the hotel. So I think they are waiting for that before putting any money in to the hotel.

While the beds are comfortable and clean, and the towels are immaculate, the overall condition of the place is quite disappointing. The images on the hotel's website do not accurately reflect the reality of the property. There were no staff members (except breakfast staff) present on the premises, raising concerns about what might occur in the event of an emergency during the night. Fortunately, I spent my days away and only returned for sleep. I will certainly not be revisiting this property. The breakfast was enjoyable, and the two ladies serving were wonderful—friendly, engaging, and attentive. However, the bedroom was not clean. The bedside lamps were dirty, the picture frames were grimy, and the windows needed attention. The bathroom also lacked cleanliness, with hair in the shower cubicle, grime behind the sink taps, and dirt on the bathroom shelves. On the second evening, I found myself locked out of the hotel, with no receptionist available to assist. I contacted the sister hotel, Arundel, only to be instructed to walk nine minutes through a questionable area to have my key card reactivated, without any apology from the management.

The rooms are gorgeous, but unfortunately, they are a bit on the warm side (it was an oddly hot week). we did have a fan to help with air circulation as well as two large windows to open. The staff was amazing and always offered to help with anything we may need as well as providing amazing recommendations. The parking isn't a problem with a more than generous amount of private parking in the back.
James B — Google review
Suffocating, no air-conditioning. Not even an opening windows to allow any air flow. Air-conditioning in reception though. That's where the service stops. No one around to assist after 8pm. Very very dated and run down blocked plumbing, mouldy shower, stained toilet , nail clippings on carpet, drink spillage on bed side table. Dust on furniture and windows are filthy. Clean linen was a bonus. House keeping are obviously overworked having to serve breakfast and service the rooms. Surely the owners can see some assistance is required for your hard working staff.
Jen A — Google review
Do not be deceived by the photo on the website of The Ashley hotel. I suspect it was taken a long time ago as it now looks tired and shabby. I recently stayed here, and unfortunately, it was a rather unpleasant experience. The hotel was severely understaffed with the receptionist being on duty for only a few hours each day and never overnight. The two service ladies who, also served breakfast, were very friendly and efficient but it was obvious they were overworked and did not have time to service the rooms properly which were shockingly dirty. The shower was grimy and in poor condition, there was a plant growing through the window and every surface had a thick coating of dust. On a plus point the breakfasts were good and the towels were pristine. I would summarise my stay here with the phrase "never again",

Really nice old-school hotel. Delicious breakfast and a short, pleasant walk across the greens to town. Rooms are perhaps a bit dated but I've stayed here happily several times and will do so again. It has parking too.

The Cambridge Guest House by Tas is renowned for its exceptional hospitality and comfortable accommodations. The guesthouse offers refined rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and amenities such as a dining room and library. Situated just outside the town, it provides a tranquil setting for a delightful stay. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast before exploring nearby attractions like The Backs, Riverboat Georgina, and Kings College.
This is a very nice guest house about 30 minutes walking distance from the town center. The staff were lovely, room was clean and a nice full English breakfast made to order in the morning. They were flexible with check in times and allowed me to use the car park for the day once I had checked out. I would say it is a basic B & B but I had nothing to fault it with. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location for city centre. A 30 minute walk maximum passing good pubs, bars and restaurants. We were 3 cyclists sharing a triple room. Our bike were safely stored at the back of the house beyond a locked gate. Great value for money. Our room was a bit crowded with 3 single beds in it but we were only there to sleep. Excellent breakfast cooked by Enzo. Would stay there again.

Our host and his wife were extra special. They were welcoming, the room was clean the bed was comfortable and the breakfast excellent. They both ensured we well feed and comfortable. Recommend to other travellers and we would happily stay there again. They ensured everything was okay, and it was. It is quiet - close the windows and put the fan on if it is hot. Carpark on site excellent. That you for an enjoyable stay. The kiwis.

Our visit in Cambridge was superb, we enjoyed our stay in the guesthouse. The room was nicely done and very clean and the breakfast was great (a blend of British and continental). Check in/out was very easy (key lockers). The area is quite with parks around and 5min drive to city center. Unfortunately, my daughter left her bag with personal belongings, but hotel staff found it and called, sent a parcel to our home later.
Marc S — Google review
Our hosts Enzo and Dina were so hospitable. They even arranged for their favorite taxi company to return us to the train station The guest house is a pleasure to see, from the entry, the patio with blooming flowers, the dining room all set for breakfast, to the welcoming guest rooms. The rooms were thoughtfully supplied with everything one might need, including swabs for makeup and disposable slippers, as well as a generous selection of teas and hot chocolate. We really enjoyed this guest house.
Judy P — Google review
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for value for money. You need to call the telephone number when you arrive and they give you a code to get your room and front door key. At the end of your stay you simply drop the keys in the secure box in the hallway. The rooms are not overly big but have everything you need for an overnight stay. The en suite is small but adequate for most people's needs as good quality shampoo etc are supplied Everywhere is very clean. A kettle with tea and coffee as well as hot chocolate and a bottle of water are a nice touch. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is cooked to order and very nice. There is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk away opposite a hungry horse pub. The bus is the PR5 and only takes 10 minutes into the city centre. This is a park and ride bus and be aware the last bus back is at 8pm. A taxi is £10, but you can park in the multi storey car parks for free after 6.30pm. Overall this is a great place to stay.
Peter B — Google review
This place is actually quite lovely. it's quite a walk out of Cambridge but there are buses and taxis. It is also extremely close to the Milton Arms which has lots of cheap food and lots of seating outside. Entry is easy with the safe locks 🔒 . It was a great surprise that we had breakfast as I forgot this as I had booked a while ago and actually breakfast was fantastic and cooked to order and plenty of variety. We left something behind which was rather costly medical equipment and then we were able to retrieve this weeks later and we are so grateful for that.
Julia K — Google review
This is such a gem of a B&B. Easy check in - you have to call a number to get your room key. Breakfast was a yummy full English but cooked to order so you sit and wait. Full jug of fresh orange juice, milk and cafetière on the table when you sit down. Lots of cereal options and some pastries too. En-suite and room was clean and bright. Nice dark curtains and blind to help block the early morning sun - much appreciated. Park and ride bus stop takes you to the centre and back as many times as you want for £4..but we also walked in which was easy along the river. Called someone about parking incase it was full and we were told to use the Milton Arms pub - which we did during the day and then moved the car at night time. No issues. Would recommend and go again. Thanks.

Guest house
Bridge Guest House is a cozy accommodation option in a convenient location near Cambridge train station. It offers free WiFi and off-street parking, making it suitable for both short and longer stays. The guest house has family rooms, providing an ideal choice for groups or families. While breakfast is not available at the moment, guests can easily find dining options nearby. The rooms are described as clean and well-maintained, although some areas may benefit from a revamp.
The room is of good size for a double room. The bathroom is very nice, shower could be improved but still very nice, Their was TV in the room. Storage space was good. Lamps either side of the bed are nice. Staff are very polite and friendly. Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was lovely. Would highly recommend this to someone visiting Cambridge for a night or two. Very nice overall. Would come back.
LUKE E — Google review
Lady who runs it very nice, and helpful in correspondence prior to my arrival. Once there though, she was away and some curmudgeonly guy was in charge. Taken by surprise to see me arrive and never left his phone while he spoke to me. No breakfast available in the morning - bit unusual. When I left in the morning, I could see the same guy peeing with the door open to a toilet room.
Lewis H — Google review
Good tidy room. Furniture was dated, the bathroom did not have a fan in there so when you had a shower the room would get all steamed up and wet or if you went to the loo you would stink your whole room out 😂Beds were comfy with extra pillows. Good stay. With tea and coffee in room
Rosie N — Google review
The hotel isn’t close to the town Centre as described in the description. We booked two rooms and one of them was exceedingly appalling. Left take away boxes with food inside, empty snack wrappers etc inside the draws. Beyond dusty. Couldn’t use showers in both rooms as it was filthy, the ceiling fans were so dusty, couldn’t use it as we have asthma and just general poor hygiene to have it on. Not worth the money. Called the owner (Athena) to speak about the takeaway issue and cleanliness and her response was pretty irate, said it’s only a draw with rubbish in and to put it outside our door… not understanding that we have paid to stay there and would not want to pick up someone else’s rubbish when it’s the establishments responsibility to ensure the rooms are clean ready for next customers. Utter disgrace. Avoid!

An old fashioned guest house in a good location near Cambridge train station. Good communication when booking. Small onsite car park. Lounge and dining area might suit longer term guests. No breakfast served but Costa around the corner. Rooms and corridors in original section are a tired and need a good revamp felt like sleeping over at granny's house circa 1975! Room 4 family room tiniest shower room in the world ask for room 5 as much bigger. Price made it a good choice 👌
Laura F — Google review
This guest house has family rooms, so was ideal for my family of 4 adults. Other places offered 2 rooms which worked out more expensive and you wouldn't be together. There are 5 parking spaces outside. The place is clean and well maintained. Due to the virus, breakfast is not available and the lounge and garden areas are not in use. There is tea/coffee making facilities in the room, although no staff was available to get any extras (we needed peppermint or green tea and some more milk).
Rakesh G — Google review
The place is well located, with a number of convenience stores located around it. The in-room setup and bed is a bit basic, and the walls a little light, so if other guests are loud you will hear it. But good value for money for Cambridge.
Christian L — Google review
Good price-cost ratio comes with some minor but still noticable stains on it's vest. We found the floor and the blanket blemished. Additionally, a lot of lime in the bathroom especially in the shower. The water boiler didn't work and the wifi broke down for the whole night, a shame... However, the staff was friendly, so i would consider booking again because of the reasonable pricing...

Acorn Guest House is a B&B that offers various breakfast options and free parking. The rooms are modest and have TVs as well as WiFi. The guest house is conveniently located near the River Cam, the city center, and renowned colleges. It is possible to take a pleasant stroll along the river and through green spaces to reach the city center on foot. The beds are clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and check-in/check-out procedures are hassle-free.
My husband, my sister and her husband and I all stayed at the Acorn this July for a week. We were greeted by the owner in a relaxed manner. He showed us how to get to the centre of Cambridge and pointed out highlights of the city. I was familiar with the city but it was a nice refresher. The guest house is in a good location, a block from a grocery store, a short walk to nice pubs on Chesterton and a short walk to the centre of town (even quicker if you cut through Jesus Green). The weather was unseasonably hot so the rooms were a bit stuffy. However, with the portable fan and a breeze through the open window sleeping comfortably was not an issue. There was three choices for breakfast: full English, Continental, and Veggie. We switched up our choices each morning and were more than satisfied when we left the table. All our inquiries and concerns were answered and attended to promptly. It was a no fuss, no muss accommodation. We all enjoyed our stay.

So the bed was comfy and clean. The shower was ice cold, the sink in the bathroom had hair around the taps, the bin hadn't been emptied in the bathroom and the towels had strains on them. See shower picture moldy and rusty, minging!!

Lovely place with friendly staff, comfy beds and quiet location! It’s quite dated however it’s all clean. Prices are reasonable and perfect for stopover in Cambridge. Unfortunately they don’t do meals however there a traditional bakery nearby which does delicious fresh sourdough bread and pastries, also have a cafe next doors which is order for brunch. Please note this place doesn’t have parking facilities, it’s on the main road but there is street parking available nearby and it’s free from Saturday evening to all day Sunday.

Clean, comfy beds, friendly staff, easy check in and check out. Pot with tea, coffee for your disposal in your room. Just the hot water in the shower takes ages to start and the floor feels kind of oblique. But generally we had very pleasant stay.
Ladislav V — Google review
The room was OK with clever bedding the floor was not very clear two large spiders on the wall and the bathroom smells of drainage and there is a lot of mould on the tiles, door and shower this room is definitely not a 4 star I would not give it any stars its OK for work men I would definitely not bring the wife
Andy B — Google review
This medium sized B&B is beautifully clean and warm. The welcome is warm and friendly, the room we were to of good size, the bed, the best I have ever slept in in a guest house. Conveniently situated on a main route in and out of Cambridge it is very handy for a quick stay. Breakfast was plentiful and well presented, no little individual cereal packets but brought out of the kitchen by the bowl ful when you order. Plenty of toast butter and jams with egg, bacon, sausage, beans, fried bread and mushrooms on a full English breakfast. I had a perfectly cooked boiled egg as part of the Continental breakfast selection. Should we be back in this direction we would look no further than here for our overnight stay.
Mike P — Google review
The check-in ends at 10pm and I was really happy about that. The manager is calm and friendly. The room was as British as it gets on the first look: Victorian interior and a kettle with a lot of teabags. But it felt pretty empty compared to how small and stuffed it was. You are fine if you can ignore the mould in the bathroom. But our room was right next to a construction site, literally 2 meters from our window. The hotel cannot really do anything about that though. But even at night it was rather noisy. A fan connected to the building was running all night and you could hear it hum. The bed was saggy and you could feel the springs poking your back. Protip: Lie on the edge of the bed, it's comfy there. The other staff was okay. The waiter was rather impersonal and the breakfast acceptable. The cleaner was nice though. Another important thing: The guest house is really far from the railway station and there is no bus going straight to it. It's at least half an hour walk if you're walking fast. If you take the bus from e.g. milton road it's 20 minutes more or less. Keep that in mind, if you are going to travel a lot.

Perfect location, on a bus route into town, key amenities close to hand. Large, comfortable room, welcoming owners. Don't come here looking for the updated look. Do come here for comfort, convenience, warmth, value, location. Loved my 3 nights. Thank you. Will be returning.

Autumn House offers guests a comfortable stay, with free Wi-Fi and parking. The guest house is located about 200 m from F.C. Cambridge and 1.5 km away from the historic city center.
This is a fantastic place to stay to explore Cambridge. It's maintained to a very high standard and the owner was very welcoming and informative. Loved the DIY breakfast facility. Spotlessly clean.

Autumn House is what you see from the reviews. It isn't particularly attractive, but it is clean and well run. Al gives a great intro. The kitchen is terrific; it is easy to do your own cooking. There's enough for breakfast to get you started for the day. The location is ok. It is a pleasant walk to the uni, and the bus is convenient. As noted by various reviewers, the downstairs double is about as tiny as a room can be and still accommodate the basics of a hotel room. We knew that going in, so it wasn't a big deal. My two quibbles both have to do with problems when it is hot. The downstairs room is quite close to the street, and we didn't feel comfortable leaving the window open as we slept about a foot away. It would feel more secure if there were a way to affix it open just a couple of inches. The second quibble is with the duvet system. Please provide a duvet and a top sheet. We had to dismantle the duvet to get comfortable on a hot night. We were ok with just the duvet cover, but too hot to sleep with the duvet.
Phil S — Google review
Mediocre in standard. What's Good? Bus stop is close by and easy to get into Cambridge city centre. It's has 3 free parking slots and street parking. Cereal, milk, yoghurt, bread etc are provided and you can have your breakfast early. What's NOT great: it can be noisy as its on the main road; air quality may be an issue if you have asthma; room n bed for two can be small; bed is soft and not good if you have back pain; we spotted mice droppings in the room. It's a decent accomodation but not great!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Host was friendly and very helpful with things to do and places to eat in the local area, and gave details instructions regarding the buses to and from the city centre. The room was great, spacious, lovely decor, as was the bathroom. I would definitely reccomend staying here to anybody.

"The Bird or Worm?" is a vibrant bar that has become a cherished spot for the queer community in Cambridge, especially during times of change in the local pub scene. Despite mixed opinions on its aesthetics, many appreciate its welcoming atmosphere and diverse drink selection, which includes an impressive array of spirits, beers, wines, and cocktails. The menu features light bites like charcuterie boards alongside hearty meals such as burgers and delightful handmade desserts—don't miss the banoffee chocolate pot!
We stopped by this hip spot for a quick drink and were not disappointed. Ups took great care to recommend drinks, and was friendly and appropriately attentive. He also answered a few touristy questions, too, which was very helpful. Enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe. Recommend!

Hidden gem. Great menu; a few classics and some more interesting dishes, all very well executed. Service is friendly and efficient. Ambience is pleasant. Soft drink options that aren't Coke! Also, as a reluctant vegan I was delighted to see choices to eat on the menu with tasty fresh ingredients and not weird fake meat stuff.
