New American restaurant
Brennan's is a renowned fine-dining establishment in New Orleans, celebrated for its Creole cuisine and luxurious breakfast offerings. The restaurant boasts an extensive wine selection curated by Braithe Tidwell, featuring a vast array of Burgundy wines and offerings from global producers. While it is an ideal spot for special occasions, Brennan's also caters to families with its charming pink exterior and a patio inhabited by turtles, providing entertainment for children.
Brennan’s is truly a New Orleans treasure with a history as rich as its flavors. This iconic French Quarter restaurant has been serving guests since 1946 and is world-famous for creating Bananas Foster, one of the city’s most celebrated desserts. My daughter and I chose the three course chef’s choice option, which included a Caesar salad, stone shrimp, and a Snickers-inspired dessert that was absolutely divine. I paired mine with a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio, while my partner enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak. Even the warm starter bread was memorable. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was kind, attentive, and made the evening feel extra special. The ambiance was beautiful, blending fine dining with a casual atmosphere that made us feel both elegant and comfortable at the same time. Dining here feels like stepping into history with the classic New Orleans charm and timeless building. I really wanted to try their legendary Bananas Foster, but since it is prepared for two I will save that for next time. And there will definitely be a next time. Between the food, the service, and the ambiance, this was an incredible experience. Love New Orleans, love the French Quarter, and absolutely loved Brennan’s.

We spent several days in New Orleans and ate at a few fine dining places, but Brennan's was by far the highlight of our culinary adventures in New Orleans! We came in for brunch, and every minute was superb. The wait staff was so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is so beautifully decorated and pleasant. We started with a delicious Irish coffee and Bloody Mary. My crab cake appetizer was really special, creatively done with the freshest ingredients and perfectly fried exterior. The turtle soup is a must try! The shrimp and grits had a fun presentation twist, and my husband's duck confit hash browns were out of this world. Of course, we got the bananas foster for dessert. They make the ice cream locally and prepare it in a special way so it doesn't turn to soup with the banana and sauce. It was so delicious and such a fun experience. The "cherry on the cake"? The coffee with chicory is probably the best coffee I've ever had!

Our dinner at Brennan's was nothing short of a five-star experience. Despite the restaurant being typically packed on a Friday, we were seated on the Terrace, which provided a wonderfully quiet and charming escape. It was the perfect atmosphere, and we even enjoyed the small water fountain that is home to a delightful crew of 10 turtles (one of them an albino!). The service was truly the highlight. Our server was beyond excellent—attentive, extremely helpful, and proactively sought answers from the chef regarding our questions. The overall supervision was also impressive; the head of the servers and other staff were constantly present, making rounds to ensure every table was perfectly taken care of. Our party of five enjoyed a variety of dishes, and every single plate was prepared and presented beautifully. Even the kid's dinner was surprisingly delicious! The level of attention to detail across the entire operation was evident and appreciated. We couldn't have asked for a better dining experience.

The eggs sardou is the best, most mind-blowing dish I’ve ever eaten! The crispy artichoke bottoms are definitely not from a can and each component was cooked to perfection. I will dream of this flavor for years to come! The whole meal was outstanding and surpassed my expectations - I wondered if it might be a tourist trap but it was the highlight of the trip.

Brunch was amazing from the service to the food to the dining space. Our server Lynika and her team mate Destiny were both so helpful and awesome. Lynika gave suggestions and answered every question we had plus everything we got was delicious that she said. Even though we were pleasantly full we had to get the bananas Foster which they do table side. We had the bloody Mary's and coffee. Our meals were scotch egg, eggs st. Charles, duck confit hash, and the steak and eggs. I really enjoyed my duck but the best thing was Eggs St Charles, which was recommended. Thank you for an incredible experience and meal.

I tried "Taste of Brennan's" combo: turtle soup, shrimp boil, and bread pudding for 38 dollars. I particularly liked the shrimp boil, it was so very flavorful that I had a strong urge to lick the plate. The turtle soup was a bit of disappointment, I expected a lot more and more unique flavor. It was good, just not great. The bread pudding was very sweet, I ate about half of it. Overall, performance ratio was very good. Note: reservation time is just a suggestion. Were asked to sit and wait past our reservation time. We were situated about 10-12 minutes after the original reservation time. We were not late, in fact we arrived a few minutes early.

100% Gem!! You must eat at Brennan's when visiting NOLA. Some of the most creative brunch dishes I have ever seen. FYl they created the banana foster so you have to get one when you come here just saying! Food was on point in every way. The cheery atmosphere and staff is very proper and considerate you get top notch service! Went for breakfast and it was fantastic. I definitely recommend the turtle soup the flavors were amazing. I went with the Eggs Owen and my wife got the Eggs Sardou both dishes came out hot and picture perfect amazing mmmmm...They were phenomenal everything from the service to food was spot on and overall we will definitely be there again next visit. Loved the waiter that did our bananas foster he was amazing and very informative! 100% recommend!

Finally getting around to posting reviews for the places we chose for our wedding back in March- Brennan’s was exceptional from start to finish. If you are contemplating having a party, reception or event here, look no further. Our food was perfect, the drinks were spot on, and our dedicated party host and server went above and beyond for us, even with our cake cutting service. It is so hard to find truly great catering with delicious food for groups of 20 or more anywhere, and our 3 course meal was so fresh and everyone raved about it. I’m still thinking about it all this time later. Thank you Brennan’s…I could not have dreamed of another place I wanted for our wedding, given we are from Texas and wanted a real NOLA experience celebrating at a place owned and operated by one of the greatest hospitality families of all time.

The Camellia Grill is a storied institution in New Orleans, beloved by generations of locals. It's a classic pink-hued diner where waiters wear bow ties and serve up classic comfort food. The only seating available is at the counter, so keep that in mind if you're dining with young kids. The menu offers everything from bacon cheeseburgers and waffles to omelets and club sandwiches, but don't miss their famous freeze – a unique take on the classic milkshake.
Looked up best breakfast places in NOLA and this one showed up to be #1 across many websites. So of course we had to give it a try. The waiting process is a bit odd as they form the line outside. You wait outside for them to let you in. No need to check in. They take you as you come and it’s first come first serve. Once you get inside it’s a full on old time diner where you sit at a counter along with several other strangers. Terrible for introverts but wonderful for extroverts! Servers take care of everyone at once. They write down your order on a slip of paper and yell it to the cook. It doesn’t take long at all. I got the catfish breakfast which was delicious. Very friendly and talkative service here. Super old fashioned which we found cool. Parking is limited. We parked at the grocery shops nearby and walked over. Decent prices for a great home style breakfast.

Some things actually don’t change very much. Maybe that’s why so many of us love New Orleans. Like so many people, I used to come here at all hours when I was in college a million years ago. Also like so many people, I always try to stop by when I am in town. If you’ve never been, stop by if you have time. It’s a tiny old-school diner - just a narrow counter with stools - but it’s the kind of place where people still remember their waiters from years gone by. They have traditional Louisiana diner fare. Today, I went for breakfast. I had red beans and rice (because Monday), with catfish (because catfish!). Chicory coffee, of course. If you want to be comfortable, this is possibly not your place. If you want to experience a New Orleans tradition, get on in there. ❤️

A real old-time lunch counter. Good food, lots of it, smiling servers (if a little slow) and a great vibe. If you can, save room for the Coconut Cream Pie. It was fantastic! I also really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes.
Catherine M — Google review
It was more than a meal - it was an experience. The staff was so kind and friendly, and the atmosphere was perfect. It’s small, but I’d happily wait in line to get to eat here again. Lots of customs and traditions, such as how the waiter gives you a straw. Quality service and food. They also offer a full menu all day, and my kids loved getting burgers for breakfast.

After reading so many great reviews & realizing I was in the neighborhood, I decided to walk to Camellia‘s last night where I was greeted with nothing but smiles and great energy. I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich and mac & cheese to go, walked 20 minutes to my home and it was absolutely delicious, It hit all the spots & the kind of mac & cheese also that I have been craving all week. You even get to watch the food being made right in front of you, my compliments to the chef and the kind gentlemen who helped me, especially Chad. There is also a lovely hostess with a beautiful smile, waiting to help you get seated somewhere. If you’re in the neighborhood or in town and you need some good Diner eats, then I’d absolutely recommend you stop by this place, it’s right along the street car path and very convenient. I plan on coming back for the pecan pie! P.S. the Mac and cheese doesn’t come with black pepper, I just added it.
Kelley D — Google review
It's the Camellia Grill! Pretty famous spot, been there forever and it's easy to see why. Boyfriend got a Roast Beef poboy and I had an Omlette. Excellent. What I really love is the service though and that it feels so much like eating at a friend's house who are great cooks. They just serve you when it's ready....here's your Omlette, here's your hash browns 5 minutes later...cool! It tastes like food I can make, but just so much better and really is so authentic New Orleans in every way and I love it. Forever a favorite spot since I was a kid. The Pecan pie, tastes like someone's grandma makes it, it's perfect.
Melissa S — Google review
Great old time dinner atmosphere and friendly service. It is all counter service only so there is usually a line. I had a sausage omelette and cheese grits. It was delicious! I had to have a slice of pecan pie. It’s grilled with butter before serving. WOW
Christopher S — Google review
Went here because it's historic, but unfortunately, I think they lean on that a bit too much. Our server was meek and not all that enthused to be helping us. Everything we ordered was wrong in some way (wrong cheeses, wrong sides). Took forever to flag her down for a coffee refill, which I got but after I was done with my meal. I love a good lunch counter, but I've experienced better service at a Waffle House.

Creole restaurant
Commander's Palace is a must-visit culinary gem nestled in New Orleans' picturesque Garden District. Since its inception in 1893, this elegant establishment has been synonymous with refined Creole cuisine and boasts an enchanting ambiance adorned with chandeliers. Under the guidance of talented chefs like Meg Bickford, who honors traditional flavors while innovating with local ingredients, diners can indulge in classic dishes such as gumbo and turtle soup alongside creative offerings like La Ceiba gulf fish.
We dined at Commander’s Palace with a group of four, and from start to finish, it was an exceptional experience. Reservations are definitely recommended—this place is popular for a reason. The service was truly the best I’ve ever experienced. From the moment we sat down, the staff made us feel like VIPs. Chairs were pulled out for us, and there were dedicated servers for drinks and food. Every dish was brought out at the same time, with multiple staff coordinating to place each plate down simultaneously. Even the drink server meticulously cleaned the table with a small food pickup tool and replaced entire water glasses rather than just refilling them. It’s those small, thoughtful touches that really set this place apart. The ambiance was elegant yet inviting, with warm lighting, tasteful wallpaper, and comfortable seating. Dressing up is encouraged, and it adds to the classic New Orleans fine dining charm. Another fun touch: they wrap up your leftovers in foil—and shape it into a swan, which was such a delightful surprise! As for the food, I personally loved my meal, though a couple of my friends were a bit more critical of their choices. Still, the quality and presentation were excellent overall. If you’re in New Orleans and want a special dining experience, Commander’s Palace is absolutely worth a visit.

This was truly such a unique dining experience, and one I will be gushing over for a long time to come! Every item we ordered was excellent. The dishes were prepared with such care, precision and quality ingredients. The flavours were out of this world. The service was some of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was so well choreographed. We didn’t feel rushed and were encouraged to savour the experience and enjoy our time. An absolute must try for locals and visitors alike!

My fiancee and I went for a nice dinner to cap our vacation. The service was excellent, the staff were very nice and even the owner came over to check on us. The food was delicious and they also had a great wine selection. The caramel cheesecake was the best cheesecake I’d ever had and I love cheesecake. My inky gripe is that the portions were on the smaller side and I’m a big guy. The place is fairly expensive so ordering more food wasn’t exactly in the budget.
JayCee J — Google review
First of all, this place is HUGE, but it felt like we were in a very intimate setting. Our Captain, Justin and his team - Travis and Corey were phenomenal from start to finish. We chose Commander's Palace to celebrate our anniversary dinner and couldn't be more pleased. From our appetizer to our desserts, everything was perfect. I also love that we had bananas foster prepared tableside along with a history lesson. I look forward to visiting again. Because I couldn't decide on which soup to order, I decided to get them all! The tasting portions of the gumbo, turtle soup, and soup of the day was perfectly portioned, and a wake up for my taste buds.
Natasha N — Google review
November 2025: we did a lot of research which restaurants to visit during our visit to New Orleans, my expectations were very high. Perhaps for that reason I was slightly disappointed. The start was fantastic. I like the option of having three small cups of their soups. Each one was excellent. I loved the turtle soup, gumbo was excellent and the cauliflower crab bisque came a close third. The arugula salad with apple shaving was refreshing with nice blend of flavors. However, the main entree were a disappointment. We switched in the middle comping that the flavors might be more pleasing for each, but that did not work for either one of us. Our choices were pork and quale. Our waitress was in training, and could not answer any questions and always had to call another waitress, who was terrific. Perhaps they should do training in pairs, so it is less frustrating to the diners.
Julie's B — Google review
Food: 4/5. Overall thought a lot of the dishes were too salty. We tried all 3 soups and thought they were all too salty. The food portions are also pretty small for its price. Got a side of the crab cooked in champagne and do not recommend. Tasted like plain crab. My favorite dish was probably the cauliflower appetizer and pecan crushed fish. The free garlic bread is delicious Service: >5/5 Logan was our main server and he was so very kind and welcoming! We ordered really weirdly but not once did we feel pressured to order more food and he was very friendly in explaining the dishes. PSA: people get REALLY dressed up for this restaurant! Also highly recommend making a reservation in advance.
T Y — Google review
I managed to get a reservation for the 25 cent Martini Lunch and what an experience!! The service was impeccable. The dining room beautifully appointed with plenty of fabric surfaces to keep the noise levels low. And the food!!! WOW! Off the charts delicious. You must get the Soup 1-1-1 and Bread Pudding Souffle. I'm still dreaming of that dessert 3 weeks later.
Deborah S — Google review
I'm a foodie and Commander's Palace has been showcased many times on various cooking shows. Award winning menus, chefs, service, etc., So, obviously, had to go here for my wife's birthday New Orleans trip and this place did not disappoint at all. The staff was bright, pleasant, excited even. The atmosphere was perfect. Not too loud, not whisper quiet. The food was fanominal, the staff was very knowledgeable of both the food and drinks. The dessert and birthday express was not over the top and annoying to either us or other guest. All of the accolades of this establishment is well deserved.

Gumbo Shop is a popular spot in the French Quarter known for its authentic and locally-approved gumbo, as well as other Creole staples. The restaurant offers various types of classic gumbo, including a unique gumbo zherbes, which is not commonly found on New Orleans menus. In addition to its award-winning gumbo, Gumbo Shop also serves crawfish etouffe and crawfish and pasta in tasso cream, making it a great option for family-friendly dining.
We visited after reading reviews and loved this charming restaurant, converted from an older house with a cozy outdoor patio. Great location. We enjoyed the New Orleans dish, a standout from their delicious Creole cuisine. The servers were phenomenal.”

Gumbo shop was so good. Definitely a must go to and in town. Husband had the special salmon dish with a crab cake. And I did the shrimp gumbo. With the amazing French bread that is fresh. Tony our server was great. He was very personable suggesting things and entertaining.

Gumbo Shop is one of the most popular and historic restaurants in New Orleans for authentic Creole cuisine. They are known for their classic seafood okra gumbo, creole combination platter, and bread pudding. My wife and I are visiting from San Diego and the Gumbo Shop serves one of the best gumbo we’ve ever had. I didn’t get our waiters name but he was very attentive and personable. He recommended something that wasn’t on the menu and I went with his recommendation. It turned out to be very good in flavor. They offer a spacious dining area, both indoor and outdoor. They also have a full bar and serve a great variety of cocktails and beers. I recommend the Gumbo Shop if you’re looking for great gumbo. Many other entrees sounded so good and I wish I could have tried more options.

I don't even know where to start. Everything on the menu looked fantastic. Waiter was courteous, attentive and prompt. Food came out fresh and hot. There was so many layers of flavor with each bite. Definitely will be back, that's a no brainer! Excellent!
Piscesboy76 — Google review
The atmosphere left a bit to be desired considering the open kitchen view from where we sat and the construction outside. The customer service was excellent. Our waiter took care of us explaining the dishes precisely and recommending a meal for us. We first order the gumbo sampler to try out and then decided on the creole combo platters. My fiancé especially enjoyed the bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
JayCee J — Google review
Upon learning that they were voted to have the “best gumbo” in NOLA, I’m a little bit disappointed with myself for having ordered something else BESIDES gumbo. Yes, I’ve been told numerous times that their creole combination was worth trying and a must order. But that’s not what they were voted best for…so I’ll just have to stop by again before I fly back out. I really like the old world vibes here. The patio area looks and feels very European. Inside, I felt ported back to a bygone era and just sitting there lets me experience a part of history. Service was quite friendly and very straightforward. Food and drinks came very quickly (I also did visit at a relatively slow period). As much as the dish was recommended, I really didn’t think much of the creole combo. It felt simple for what NOLA is known for. It didn’t excite like what would be expected of creole/cajun flavors. If anything, it was leaning towards the boring side. Too bad I had a few others things to get done that day or I would have ordered a few more items to properly gauge their food and flavors. Until next time, thank you and see you again soon!

Of course i had to try Gumbo while i was in New Orleans. So when i asked chatgpt (yes, i did...) where i should go, this place came up as award winning! I went for an early dinner, a friday around 6, and i was sat right away. There's construction in the area so you have to pay attention to where you are going or you won't find them. Its a very casual place, ambiance was great and they have outdoor seating as well. Staff is very pleasant and very helpful. I started with a piña colada, which was very tasty, not too sweet or too icey. I had the seafood & okra gumbo! It was amazing. I added some hot sauce to it. They bring you french bread, which was perfect for dipping in my gumbo!!! You must come here and try it out! They have several gumbo options to pick from.

The food at The Gumbo Shop was warm, homely and very tasty. The Vegan Gumbo and the Corn Macque Choix are must haves. The vegetarian Po Boi was beautiful with its soft warm bread and fresh vegetable filling. Ending the dinner with some pecan pie was the cherry on top. Would definitely recommend this place to any vegetarian looking to try local food

Po’ boys restaurant

Restaurant
Johnny's Po-Boys is a lively counter-serve restaurant that has been serving up delicious po' boys since 1950. The walls are adorned with memorabilia, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. Located in the French Quarter, it's a must-visit spot for those exploring the area.
ABSOLUTELY 5 stars+++. Some of the best Cajun food I have ever had. Shrimp and Oyster Po Boys were delicious and perfectly dressed. Gumbo, jambalaya and red beans all home made with tons of flavor. All of this food for $60! Great prices and workers. Check this place out when in New Orleans.

Amazing poor boys! We loved the buddha shrimp, poor boy, shrimp with green tomato, poor boy, and the red beans and rice. We do not recommend the jambalaya. And don’t over order. Get a half sandwich and a side.

We ordered a beef po-boy dressed mayo on the side. Prices hmmm. It was ok! Mid at best. The place is small and EVERYTHING is old yall been in business for multiple decades upgrade everything your ancestors wont be mad. The bathroom is in need of a deep clean and update it to.

Yoooo what a gem!! It's a small spot, but everyone is very friendly. The shrimp po-boy is amazing!!! Every bite was loaded with tender, juicy shrimp and the bread was super on point fresh. Hands down the best ever shrimp Po-Boys I've had...I could have eaten 2 more of them easily. Love the local atmosphere and vibe. love this place, when I come back to NOLA 100% going again. 100% recommend!

After walking for hours, and finding Johnny po boys. My husband had the catfish poboy an I the gumbo, rice n beans. Yum!! Small place… not many tables. But quick turn around. Wait few minutes. Someone done. Next

The catfish po boy was mediocre fish had no seasoning bread was not toasted and was very chewy...The alligator sausage was good. There was no crowd and service was fast and courteous though... for New Orleans which is known for great seasoning i was very disappointed. Food did not match the rating and reviews it has received.

The old school po boy spit vibe is unique if you never experienced before. I got some voodoo shrimp po boy which was okay but can be much better. As a tourist, they only take cash and food is okay. Lower your expectations and enjoy a sandwich.
Man X — Google review
This place stayed busy and had a line out the door the ENTIRE time we were there. I had the fried green tomatoes and shrimp po boy. Was pretty good. But surprisingly the turkey club po boy tasted even better. Talk about shocked. Have been waiting YEARS to eat a po boy bc I wanted an authentic one and this place didn't disappoint. We also tried the gumbo and jambalaya. They were ok. Nothing to really rave about. Will definitely be back!!!

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Galatoire's is a century-old upscale restaurant in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans. It is renowned for its sophisticated setting and upscale Creole dishes, requiring jackets for entry. The menu features classic seafood-centric dishes with a focus on in-season fish and shellfish prepared with artful techniques.
Held our company luncheon here. Event coordinator Darlene was extremely easy to work with and very helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. The room was able to accommodate all 20 people with plenty of extra room. Friendly staff. Love the set up of the room as well. Would recommend for large groups and private dining.
Lina A — Google review
I love Creole food, love, love, love. However, I don’t love Galatoire’s. The food, looks the part, but doesn’t taste it. To start, you make reservations by credit card, so if you don’t show, they charge you. That’s fair, I guess. But we arrived, were promptly seated, and waited over 10 minutes before we even got our menus. It’s important to note that GW Fins is right around the corner, and we would have just left and gone there, which I wish we had. They finally brought us bread and water, so it was too late to politely leave. The bread was simply not good; it was soft but lacked flavor. Willing to give the restaurant a fair shake, I ordered quite a bit from the menu. I got an appetizer sampler of shrimp, crawfish, fried bacon oysters, and crab, all nasty. I ordered Oysters Rockefeller; they looked really gross and tasted even worse. I tried the seafood gumbo and the duck gumbo, both tasting off, with the gumbo filé overpowering in a burnt flavor and a hint of tomato, which was really odd. You can see the pics, we didn’t eat much. I ordered shrimp étouffée; at least the shrimp were cooked properly, but the sauce was just gross. I ordered the filet mignon, requested medium, but it came rare, it was at least edible. Ordered cheesy potatoes au gratin to accompany it; they were not great. For drinks, I ordered a vodka soda water, but they used ginger ale instead of soda water. To top it all off, I got the black pecan cake with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was two tiny dabs that looked like a garnish on the cake, but the cake itself was actually quite nice, though a bit overpowering. The highlight of the night was our waitress, Britney. She was incredible. Believe it or not, I didn’t complain once about any dish, paid for everything, smiled, and said all was fine. She questioned why we didn’t eat much, but I didn’t have the heart to make her feel bad, it wasn’t her fault, and she did a great job. The food, however, isn’t worth trying. I swear, the dishes were so bad they must’ve been cooked by the ghosts of New Orleans’ worst chefs haunting the kitchen! It gets a lot of good reviews, which either tells me I came on a bad night or people have no idea what good Creole is. I assure you, Galatoire’s isn’t it. There are many great spots in New Orleans. I recommend trying others before coming here.

I did not want to eat here as they have a dress code, but my spouse wanted to. It's NOLA. It's muggy. It's outrageously muggy. Jackets are required at dinner but lunch was more casual requiring just long pants and a collared shirt, so that's what we did. For the record, loaner jackets are available. ATMOSPHERE: The dining room is very plain, not warm or elegant especially with the tacky wall mirror that encircles the entire room. For a place that has a dress code, I was expecting more. It was fairly empty at lunch sans for a large party that made as much noise as if the restaurant was fully packed. MENU: Higher end apps, soup, salads, omelettes, poultry, shellfish, fish, meats, desserts. FOOD: Garlic Bread In addition to melted butter, fresh garlic was visible on each slice. I didn't have any due to its offensiveness and didn't want to get full on a filler. Oysters en Brochette This appetizer was my favorite selection of the entire lunch. The oysters were delicately fried with an airy batter and drizzled with a butter sauce and bacon bits. Simply delish. Soufflé Potatoes How in the world did they make these?! They're like large steak fries that are hollowed out, leaving just the exterior skin and batter. As you cut them they deflate like a jumping castle being taken down, lol. A decadent béarnaise sauce accompanied. Turtle Soup au Sherry This is one dish I had to try while in NOLA and I was happy they offered it. It was tomato-based like a minestrone and tasted like it too, with minced turtle meat that was similar in texture to abalone. You wouldn't even know you're eating turtle. Shrimp Marguery I had a hard time deciding which shellfish dish to order and chose this, unfortunately, by reading others' reviews. I imagined plump, seared shrimp bathed in smooth, creamy sauces. What I received were six shrimp drowning in a pool of hollandaise and béchamel sauces in a small baking dish that was broiled. The result was an Exxon-like oil spill, with the sauces separating from their binders that left a clumpy mess. To add insult to injury, the shrimp weren't seared at all, pretty much just boiled in the oils. Filet Mignon My spouse's visually unappealing dish. For an additional cost came a ramekin of hollandaise sauce. That's all that was on the plate - the steak sprinkled with parsley and the cup of hollandaise. While less is usually more, it looked like it was plated by a child. Looks aside, the filet's temperature was served pretty raw and not even close to rare. Sad. Potatoes au Gratin Besides fingerling potatoes, au gratin is my second least favorite preparation style, but I really like it here due to its moisture and cheesiness. SERVICE: Female server took great care of us. She was very friendly, pleasant and professional. Thank you! OVERALL: Some people love this type of dining but not me. Enjoyable apps, great service. Not a return for us due to the lackluster entrees.

Went to the infamous fried chicken brunch. Arrived on time. Was seated quickly. Then sat there. A random server gave us water. Food was just placed on our table with no explanation of acknowledgment. Bare minimum for 2 people. Still no one came to check on us. I had to ask someone passing for a soda. I had to ask a busboy for our check. When he asked how was it I told him horrible. He asked to give it another try. I’m not wasting over $160 again for 2 people. NEVER. My money spends just like everybody else. And a sweet potato pie doesn’t make everything all good.
Niki D — Google review
I came here expecting a true New Orleans classic, and while the food itself was solid, the service left a lot to be desired. We were seated at 7:00, and by 9:00 we had only been served one round of drinks. Dinner was nowhere in sight, and there wasn’t much urgency from the staff to check in or move things along. For a restaurant with this reputation and price point, the pacing was disappointing and really took away from the experience. Once the food did arrive, it was good — traditional flavors, well-prepared, and worth the wait from a culinary standpoint. Unfortunately, the painfully slow service overshadowed what could have been a memorable meal. If you’re planning a visit, expect good food but be prepared to spend the entire evening waiting for it.

What a day! We spent the week in the Quarter and by far this was the best event of the trip!!! Galatoire's Friday Lunch is a must do experience! This was the one place my father in-law said "we must do", so not going wasn't an option. Just getting a reservation in and of it's self was a task because it's so iconic. My wife called months in advance to try and book, but due to the Halloween festivities it was almost impossible. A huge THANK YOU to Caroline Oliver. She was so nice, communicative, and accommodating working with us. We arrived early for our 11:30am reservations, but not to worry because their bar was already open. We passed through the dinning room as the service staff was in a lineup getting prepared for the day's service. Even though it was all business one server acknowledge us and made us feel immediately welcomed. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar which we thought would be dead, but it was alive and well. We knew that this was going to be an extra special experience based on the elaborate costumes people were wearing for Halloween. We were promptly seated and the ambience was already at a rolling bubble, ready to boil. As fate would have it the same server who greeted us in the staff lineup was also our server to the day, and I'm so thankful she was! Candace Dickey or "Ace" absolutely made our experience! She immediately made us feel at home and took control of our dinning cadence, allowing us relax and enjoy our day. She was maestro to our bacchanalia. The food was spot on: hot, fresh, classic, and full of the flavor's of New Orleans that stay with you a lifetime. The entire staff was on point all around, it felt like we were at a party not a restaurant. We even got to compliment the chef! A second line band even came through and sent the whole dinning room into a festive frenzy! This was a dinning experience I will never forget. In my 15+ years of restaurant management from Tampa, to L.A., and Atlanta; the service and dinning experience from start to finish is what excellence is all about. Thank you to the manager who greeted us as we left and to all the staff that made our trip one of the greats!

I was not impressed to say the least. The restaurant closes at 9 and they accepted our reservation at 9 but the hostess never told the kitchen so we were kind of rushed to order our food. We were placed in a corner as a group of 7. Our server tried her best to give us a good experience but everything else from everyone else felt very rushed. Very disappointed in the food. Specifically the “rockerfeller oysters”. I have never is my life seen black rockerfeller oysters. They were very hard to get out the shell and whatever the topping was , was very mushy. I tried to eat what I could but it just wasn’t it. My cousin’s pork chop was not even edible. Very over done. The gumbo was lukewarm and saltiness. I understand they were closing but don’t rush and half ass do things at the expense of your customers when you’re the one who accepted the reservation.

Amazing food, cocktails and service. The ambiance is nice too. The front dining room is a little bit stuffy and you are required to have a jacket if you're a man. This is like old school fine dining. The back dining room is perfect for families or us heathens that didn't bring fancy clothes. All the food is well cooked, presented beautifully and beyond tasty. The drinks are well mixed and balanced. I definitely recommend making a trip here.

Wow wow wow! Best meal I had while in NOLA. I recommend the lamb loin and the duck, as well as the tomato salad. Was bummed they didn’t have the chicken liver mousse, but everything we ordered was delightful. It’s very charming and food came out quickly. Very enjoyable evening overall. Thanks for having us!

What at excellence dining experience. Please get all the appetizers! The main course were great but appetizers were fantastic. The fish was great and so were the vegan/vegeterian option. This is a more formal dinning experience than causal and a great place for large groups.

The mushroom goat cheese croutons were ethereal. The fennel pepper crusted lamb with zinfandel reduction and duck fat potatoes was phenomenal as well. Overall the wine list did leave a little to be desired but the btg menu did definitely have the perfect pairing for my meal. The service was exceptional and the ambiance outside was dreamy. Will enthusiastically return.

Beautiful setting, attentive service, and delicious food.... what did you ask for? I\n Had the garlic soup first, followed by a barbecue shrimp. Both were outstanding, but the shrimp was really fantastic. I had the cheesecake for dessert and it was a little bit small in portion size, but very delicious.

As a vegan person I highly recommend this place. I had a hard time finding vegan options at fine dining restaurants in New Orleans and it was such a relief when I found out that Bayona does offer vegan options and they are delicious! The service and ambiance was great as well, very quiet and elegant. Our server was very friendly, kind and knew exactly what to recommend from the menu!

We had a wonderful meal last night at Bayona. The new chef, Christy ❤️Engeran is so incredibly talented. She has truly brought Bayona to another level the level of food that she is doing with not just her classic French, but world cuisine is astounding. We had the shrimp flan, the fish, Dijour and a long list of incredible vegan dishes among our favorite was the vegetableTagine in a Moroccan style with couscous and it was incredible.

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner here tonight for my birthday. Not only was our server incredibly attentive and knowledgeable—she was also delightfully personable and an absolute pleasure to work with. Our food was simply divine—every detail was thoughtfully addressed, both in presentation and taste. And my god, the duck and the lamb had some of the best cook on them we’ve ever experienced (and my partner and I order duck and lamb every chance we get). This is our new favorite place. Every time we have the pleasure of visiting New Orleans, we are going to visit here. Thank you all so much for an absolutely fab dinner.

Amazing food and service. Dining room is a little dated, but the courtyard is so cute. We had sweetbreads, burrata, garlic soup, goat cheese croutons, fish of the day, lamb, steak, and gratin potatoes. Service was phenomenal: excellent food descriptions and attentive.

Parkway Bakery & Tavern is a historic neighborhood hangout that has been serving classic-style po' boys since 1911. The key to their delicious sandwiches lies in the fresh-daily baguettes from Leidenheimer, a renowned bakery with a long history of providing quality bread to restaurants in town. The atmosphere inside the tavern is adorned with vintage memorabilia, while outside, patrons can enjoy their meals at communal plastic tables. This iconic spot gained national attention when the Obamas visited last summer.
I come here often. I always get the large shrimp poboy dressed. My only complaint was that the shrimp weren’t fried hard enough for me. Edit: Update- Back at it again. This time we decided to dine at Jay’s Place a spot located inside the restaurant. It has AC and you get a waiter. He was so friendly and attentive. So much better to dine in when it’s hot out. It was great. Food was great! Not a complaint at all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The experience at Parkway Tavern what’s amazing. The food? Hands down best Po-Boy in New Orleans! The shrimp barbecue sauce was unbelievable, and we got the fried shrimp and roast beef po’boy—both were so damn good we ate every single bite. The service was pure Southern charm, and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming with the game playing in the background. It was the perfect setting, and we had the best time. Parkway Tavern is a must when in New Orleans! Literally- no other place- sit in the bar- you’re welcome!!!!!

My husband wanted a classic po boy and we took a 12 minute uber from downtown to Parkway. The driver said this was her favorite spot for po boys - thought it was a good sign we were going to the right place. There was a bit of a line but it moved fairly quickly. My husband ordered the oyster po boy (small) and said it was fantastic. I was not sure if I could eat anything here because I’m gluten free, but ordered the capresse and chicken without the bread which was surprisingly good ( mozzarella fresh). The sandwiches are large - unless you’re really hungry suggest ordering a small. The coleslaw was also great! Loved the retro interior with vintage photos and signs.
Jennifer S — Google review
Parkway in New Orleans is often recommended for their poboys, so I decided to try their famous shrimp poboy. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really my favorite. The sandwich was generous with fried shrimp, but it fell apart easily, and the flavors didn’t stand out for me. I also personally don’t love shrimp, which may have influenced my experience, but even aside from that, it didn’t leave a strong impression. The fries, particularly the gravy cheese fries, were really good — definitely a highlight of the meal. The restaurant gets busy quickly, and the line moves slowly. The ordering system can be confusing if you’re sitting outside, as it’s hard to hear when orders are called. While the system works, I found it a bit inefficient. Overall, while Parkway is a popular spot and the fries are great, the shrimp poboy didn’t live up to the hype for me. I probably wouldn’t return unless I wanted to try a different item.

Great spot for poboys & drinks. The award winning James brown is fried fish and BBQ beef was a nice saucey sandwich with a crunch from the fried shrimp and some freshness from the lettuce and tomatoes. My favorite was the Louisiana catfish which is a simple fried catfish with lettuce tomato pickle. The catfish was so moist and perfectly fried along with the veggies it was so perfect. The mango margs were also really good and really strong. The only downside is that there is a really long line for both the sandwiches and the drinks so be prepared to wait - worth it though. 8/10

Parkway is a classic New Orleans spot. This was my second time here. The first time was about 15 years ago and I have only so so memories about it. I wanted to try again. Today I got their famous roast beef poboy. It was loaded with meat. I only needed half of a large poboy. It had just the perfect amount of tasty gravy to prevent the bread from falling apart. And the French bread was crispy and excellent. My only beef was the beef. I found the meat to be mostly unseasoned which brought back my memories from the past. This place is beloved, so I'm likely on an island on this review. I'm still giving 4 stars, and I want to come back and try other menu items. I hope I can up the rating.

When it comes to down-home favourites in the heart of New Orleans, few places come close to Dooky Chase Restaurant. This family-owned landmark has been serving up Southern staples since 1941, and its stunning art deco interior is a real sight to behold. The restaurant is also famous for its role in the civil rights movement - many of the leaders who met here during that turbulent time are still regular customers today.
If you want a historic dinner with good fried chicken, add this to your list for sure! They do have a dress code, it's posted on their website, so be sure to check that out. Also, make sure to get a reservation. The fried chicken was juicy and balanced, not too salty. The gumbo was nice, had some spice, but not a lot. My friend enjoyed his red fish. Service was helpful and gave suggestions! Be sure to look at the photos around you! There are stones with famous people who have been to Dooky Chase outside the restaurant. Make sure to come here if you're visiting New Orleans.

We walked a mile from Saint Louis No 1 Cemetery to Dooky Chase, it was a bit sketchy walking underneath Interstate 10, with a few homeless encampments. Other than that it was totally worth the walk. We had no reservations for lunch and the restaurant was really busy. Fortunately, we got hooked up and had a fantastic lunch in such a legendary spot. The restaurant is a must visit. Probably best to get a reservation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ——————————————————————————————————

What a beautiful experience. The art on the walls and the appreciation of history is just facet of an overall experience that cant be overstated. The food is traditional creole faire but so well executed. Simplicity and technique are what made the fried chicken or the seafood platter truly memorable. The gumbo was so delicate and flavorful. The staff are young and vibrant and make it easy to over look little things like getting lemonade instead of water. The atmosphere made this one of the highlights of my dining adventures in New Orleans.

The restaurant could rely on its history alone but it doesn’t. The outstanding food and service match it’s reputation. We visited Dooky with a party of 10’and it did not disappoint. The famous gumbo is famous for a reason. I enjoyed the shrimp Clemenceau. The redfish and fried chicken were standouts as well. If you’re visiting the area Dooky’s will definitely be a highlight and a don’t miss!

This restaurant is an institution, but they don't rest on their laurels - the reputation is well earned, with delicious local food served in generous portions. The fried catfish was enough for 2 people and the Creole was delicious.

Rich history, delicious gumbo, but I never received my main meal. I waited for over an hour, people that were seated after me received their meal. This was my first visit and it was ruined. I was so looking forward to having a meal at this historic venue. Leah Chase was one of a kind, and it was an honor to meet her in the past. I truly wanted to experience her restaurant for myself. But this experience just ruined all my excitement

Verti Marte is a 24/7 market and deli located at the corner of Royal and Governor Nichols Streets in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It's famous for its Creole-inspired sandwiches, entrees, and sides. Despite its small floor space, it's always packed with crowds eager to indulge in their menu offerings like the All That Jazz sandwich - filled with ham, turkey, shrimp, mushrooms, melted cheese, and a sinful sauce.
Easy to order and pick up, food was absolutely delicious! We had both the fried shrimp on French bread and the shrimp Philly sandwich with French fries. Fries were amazing for me (large meaty cuts of potato not overly crispy - as I love) but not for my wife (who prefers McDonalds style fries).

Just went there initially because Anthony Bourdain had a muffaletta there, and I never had one, so I thought this was the time. If there is a scenario where you could imagine yourself happily standing in line for half an hour at 3AM for a sandwich then you have found the right place. Grab a cold six pack from their fridge, walk across the street, and watch the glorious human vignette comprised of folks who's venn diagram overlaps with yours at this time and place. When you enter pay attention to the harried man behind the register. The path to your reward is not always obvious. Typically it seems the que forms on the left, proceeds past the first register, past the deli counter beneath the wall with the menu written on it, and loops back to the front of the store and the second register where you place your order, pay, and receive your ticket but be prepared, the harried man behind the first register may, upon returning from the kitchen or a delivery to the folks waiting outside, start taking orders at the first register whereupon the line will bifurcate at a point whose location could not be predicted by a quantum computer, but will be revealed by a lady who will turn to you and say, "Go back over they" while she proceeds on her original path, and loop back upon itself in the very narrow aisle. Your food will be delivered to you on the sidewalk in about fifteen minutes by the harried man. Sometimes the system is overwhelmed and they say they will stop taking orders for half an hour and the harried man told me the kitchen closes from five to eight am. The All That Jazz sandwich was very good at 3:30 am, though it is a mess to eat. I would recommend finding a table somewhere nearby (Laffites ?). The sidewalk outside Verti Marte has seen a lot of humanity. The red beans were very good, rich and herbatious. If your priority is just getting some food in your belly, NOLA Po' Boys a couple blocks away is a quicker option, but this is the richer experience.

Everything you want from a full service bodega. The soft shell crab po boy was two full soft shell crabs , one on each half, fried to order and very fresh. The spicy muffalata blew me away with flavor. This is the kind of sandwich that will keep me up at night in the future thinking about it. You have to get the spicy muffalata.

Very friendly service! Sometimes a tight fit but be nice and everyone will be nice to you. How it works: go look at the menu and the cases. Then order from a cashier. Drink a beer you bought. Then wait while trying to stay out of the way but listen for your number! Finally, enjoy your amazing food. All that jazz is uniquely delicious. Shrimp poboy is one of the best.

This charming café draws both locals and tourists alike, who flock to savor the melt-in-your-mouth pastries dusted with powdered sugar. While some may opt for the glitz of nearby casinos, many prefer the laid-back atmosphere of Cafe Du Monde, where they can enjoy their treats amidst the vibrant energy of the city.
Cafe Du Monde: Where Touristy Transcends into Timeless Yes, yes, I know. Nothing screams “I Googled ‘must-eat in New Orleans’” louder than Cafe Du Monde. It’s the Eiffel Tower of fried dough. The Statue of Liberty of chicory. The Times Square of powdered sugar. But hear me out: sometimes the cliché is a classic for a reason. We came for the beignets and chicory coffee, and left with powdered sugar in our hair, hearts full, and a renewed belief in the magic of the obvious. The beignets? Pillowy, golden, and unapologetically dusted like they were trying to erase all memory of low-carb living. Each bite was a soft jazz solo, sweet, warm, and just a little bit cheeky. The chicory latte? Earthy, bold, and comforting, like a hug from a caffeinated swamp witch who’s seen things and wants you to know it’ll all be okay. And despite the reputation for lines longer than a CVS receipt, we walked right in. No wait. No chaos. Just a table, a tray, and the kind of service that says, “We’ve done this a million times, and we still care.” Our server was swift, kind, and knew exactly how to wield a tray of beignets like a seasoned pastry ninja. Outside, the sky opened up in a theatrical downpour, because of course it did. Our last hours in New Orleans deserved a dramatic curtain call. And right on cue, a saxophone player appeared under the awning, playing something smooth and wistful, like the soundtrack to a sepia-toned montage of love and powdered sugar. My wife and I sat there, sipping, smiling, and silently agreeing that this was the kind of moment you don’t try to improve. You just live it. Was it touristy? Absolutely. But it was also excellent. And if excellence happens to come with a side of mass appeal and a gift shop, so be it. I’ll take it. We’ll be back. Not just for the beignets, but for the reminder that sometimes the most obvious choice is also the most delicious. And next time, I might even wear white, just to see how much powdered sugar I can get away with.

We visited Café Du Monde at the iconic Jackson Square location, having read all the positive reviews about their beignets. Location & Food (3/5 Stars): The location is unbeatable—right next to Jackson Square. The beignets were, as advertised, very good and a must-try New Orleans dessert. The coffee was fine, standard New Orleans coffee. Service (0/5 Stars): This is where the experience falls apart. Our server approached and immediately asked, "Do you guys want beignets? How many?" and then rudely walked away mid-sentence before we could finish deciding. The attitude was appalling. Even after we did place our order (two of the same item), she was so inattentive that she misunderstood a simple request and brought us two different versions. While not a major issue, it was yet another clear indication of her lack of focus. We waited 5-10 minutes for her return. I observed similar rude, dismissive behavior from servers at other tables. To top it off, after dropping off the order, our server waited right next to our table explicitly for a tip despite the terrible service. Practical & Legal Concerns: 1- CASH ONLY: Be prepared. This is a cash-only place. 2-No Receipts: A major concern is that they do not issue receipts, even when requested. This, combined with the servers constantly walking around counting wads of cash, suggests they may not be properly reporting their earnings and could be operating illegally. This is highly unprofessional and tacky. Conclusion: While the beignets are a New Orleans staple, I would never suggest a friend go here. The combination of rude service and shady business practices outweighs the historic location and decent food. There are plenty of other fantastic local spots to get beignets and coffee with an infinitely better experience.

Definitely the iconic spot it is heralded for. Beignets were amazing. The frozen café au lait is a perfect pairing. The jazz music outside really sets a vibe for the puffs of powdered sugar as you bite into your Beignets. Its the standard and sets the bar. Start here and then try the others. Seat yourself and someone will come to you. Sometimes that takes longer than you want. Cash only but open 24hrs!!!
Ray P — Google review
What can you say about Café Du Monde? It’s iconic for a reason. The beignets are absolutely incredible — hot, fresh, perfectly crisp on the outside with a light, airy chew on the inside, and piled high with powdered sugar. I went on a busy Sunday morning and was lucky to get a seat right away, and the service was surprisingly quick given how chaotic it can get. The restaurant is very casual and crowded, with cramped tables and chairs, and the waitstaff are constantly on the move. The restrooms are limited and not the nicest, but it’s a casual spot, and the prices reflect that. I was so impressed that I went back the next day — these beignets are truly worth a visit to New Orleans on their own. I’ve been dreaming about them for years, and they exceeded every expectation. Absolutely phenomenal. 100% recommend to anyone visiting the city.

Heads up : it’s cash only, no cards accepted! That said, this place is a true New Orleans classic. Super retro vibe, often with live musicians playing nearby, which makes the whole experience even better. And the beignets? Wowwww! absolutely delicious! Of course we recommend it!
Sabrina S — Google review
We had to visit cafe de monde, it is an institution. Super busy any time of day. Beignets are related to donuts, but not as flavorful. They are covered with heap of powered sugar, so they very messy. I saw very few people that were not covered with white powder. To stay relatively clean you have to shake off the powder first, you still get a lot of sweetness as some of it heats up and melts onto the dough. The bathroom experience was memorable. There is a long line, and there is a bathroom director who tells the next person to enter one of two bathrooms (both are either/or ) bathroom. They are the size of the air plane bathroom, dirty, with wet floor. There are no paper towels, but one can use toilet paper to dry the hands. It is an experience I will remember. P.s. cash only. A plate with thee and 2 coffees were 15 dollars.

Cafe Du Monde is the quintessential touristy place of New Orleans. If you don't visit, did you even go to The Big Easy? Beignets and coffee are the name of the game here. The beignets are coated with enough powdered sugar to tempt the Narcotics Unit to throw you behind bars. Will you find better tasting beignets in the area? For sure. But will you eat them in a place as historical and nostalgic as the city itself? Heck no! The main thing to know is this place is cash only. Also, you can purchase one of the server hats and get the cheapest souvenir in the French Market. I've eaten here early morning and late at night, and it's truly a toss-up on which vibes I liked better. In the end, you can't go wrong.
Dalton A — Google review
I've long heard that you have to get there SUPER early to get in line to get beignets. We went here twice and did not have to wait either time to sit down. I figured it was time of year or time of day (once was around dinner time in the evening and the other was around mid-day). Service was quick and the beignets were delicious as was the cafe au lait. Both times we visited, there was live music just outside of the patio. We didn't stick around too long after we were done, so can't speak to anything else. Would I go back here? Sure!

Coop's Place is a beloved Cajun restaurant located in the heart of the historic French Quarter, offering affordable and mouthwatering seafood dishes and cocktails in a laid-back atmosphere. Since 1983, this 21-and-over establishment has been serving up some of New Orleans' best fried chicken seasoned with their original Bayou Blend.
I walked in casually without high expectations, but it quickly impressed me. It was actually my first meal in the city and set an excellent tone for the rest of the trip. The Jambalaya Supreme was the standout: rich, hearty, and bursting with flavor. The Catfish and Crawfish Dinner was equally satisfying—both dishes were well-seasoned, cooked to perfection, and served in generous portions. If you’re visiting New Orleans, this place is definitely worth a stop.

A True New Orleans Gem! Coop’s Place is one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem in the heart of the French Quarter. It’s got that old-school bar vibe—dark, gritty, and full of character—and I loved every minute of it. It’s definitely different in the best way. The food was phenomenal. I had the pork chop, and it was incredibly juicy and flavorful. The red beans and rice were some of the best I’ve had—rich, hearty, and full of that New Orleans soul. The service was friendly, and our waitress was especially nice and welcoming. It just had that authentic, laid-back charm that makes you feel at home. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town. Coop’s Place is the place to be, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great local experience.

Coop’s Place is a lively French Quarter dive with bold Cajun-Creole flavors. The crawfish étouffée is rich and flavorful, and the fried chicken is crispy and satisfying. Expect generous portions, fair prices, and quick, no-nonsense service. Great for casual eats, not fine dining.

Coop’s Place has a fantastic atmosphere — laid-back, lively, and full of local charm. It’s the perfect spot to soak up authentic New Orleans vibes while enjoying delicious food. I loved their blackened redfish po’ boy with French fries—perfectly seasoned fish, fresh bread, and crispy fries on the side—it was so tasty! The shrimp salad and pork chops also tasted great! The rabbit and sausage jambalaya and seafood gumbo were also packed with authentic Creole flavor. The staff is friendly, in a no-nonsense, New Orleans kind of way, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. If you want delicious local food in a fun, casual setting, you can’t go wrong with Coop’s Place. I highly recommend it!

Man, let me tell you — Coop’s is one of the best little spots in New Orleans! I can’t eat seafood, so I let the server know, and she didn’t miss a beat. She recommended the chicken, told me it’s cooked in its own grease, and said it would be the best thing I could have. And she wasn’t lying — that chicken was to die for! Juicy, flavorful, cooked just right — honestly the best chicken I’ve had in a long time. My friend had a great meal too, so everything coming out of that kitchen is on point. If you’re in New Orleans, do yourself a favor and check out Coop’s. This is the spot — you won’t regret it!

Coop's Place is an solid establishment, for the new Orleans fan fare I had the gumbo and jambalaya. Pro tip you gotta put that filthy gumbo on top of the jambalaya for the best results. Cocktails 🍸 absolute gems, get the absinthe laced one to start your Nola journey correctly. Would definitely come again

This is a chill real authentic NOLA spot. It has its own charm and appeal. The smoked duck quesadilla was good, not a fan on sweet sauce, but next time Ill get that on the side. Trust me its me, I'm not the savory sweet mixy type of person. The fried chicken was the start of the show for me, seasoned, savory and the perfect amount of crisp! Good food and great service, will always be top tier for me.

I was turned on to this place by locals in r/askNOLA and I was NOT disappointed. This was the best food we had in NOLA. I got the taste plate and quickly realized I should've done a full meal of jambalaya. The wife got fried chicken, that was great too. Next day we went back. I got the jambalaya and she got a cajun pasta. I liked the cajun pasta even more! Place is a must-try in your quest for the best creole. As far as ambiance, yes it's a dark little dive bar, but don't be fold. Great people, great food!

Since its humble beginnings as a small hot dog stand in 2011, it has expanded to four locations across New Orleans. The menu features creative hot dog experiences such as the Crawfish Etoufee Dog made with crawfish sausage and the Guinness Special with Irish Guinness sausage.
This place is AWESOME! You have got to try the alligator sausage, the Rougarou! We also had the Shrimp Rich Boy with popcorn shrimp and horseradish sauce! Flavor explosion! Staff was friendly and the place is colorfully decorated .

This was our first stop in NOLA because it was late and they were open later than most spots. I love that they had vegan options. I had the vegan banger which was good. Etouffe fries were not what I expected. A little crispier than we would’ve liked (and I actually like my fries crispy) My kids eat basic so the lil beefy was a basic hotdog perfect for them. My teenager liked her grilled chicken sandwich. My hubby liked his cheesy bacon ranch fries and rougarou and the local beer jucifer. My mom and youngest daughter said the shrimp was fried too hard so she didn’t eat her poboy. Great service from the guys working there. My family of 6 ate for about $20 a person.

We got the Chicago dog and the flying pig. Both were great! I thought the fries were way too crispy and oily but the partner liked them. Atmosphere is pretty cool. A few booths and a bar to sit at with lots of alcohol options. The staff is kind of just hanging around, in the way sometimes. But quick to clean up and/ or serve you.

The hot dog was tasty and perfectly fresh made. It lasts a bit long and the inner side is not as funny created than the windows. Also it was the first time in this franchise zo I can not compare it, but all of us we enjoy the dog.

It's always one of the best places to eat in the city. Plus, it's on frenchmen street. It's just the coolest spot. I took my girlfriend there for her first time yesterday and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The only slight letdown was when I asked if they had all the makings for a Paloma, and she told me no, but upon looking, they did or least a bastardized one. Grapefruit juice works just fine. Brigtsen's Restaurant, established in 1986, is a renowned dining spot in Riverbend known for its modern Creole cuisine. Chef Frank Brigtsen, a James Beard Award winner and protege of Paul Prudhomme, offers a carefully curated menu featuring flavorful seafood dishes like fried catfish and barbecue-smothered shrimp. The restaurant's cozy Victorian-cottage setting adds to the charm of the dining experience.
Don't let the exterior full you, this cute little cottage is bursting at the seams with culinary flavor. The cocktails were well crafted, the seafood platter was amazing, curry shrimp bisque on point and the blueberry lemon creme brulee... Sooooo gooooood! It's a bit pricey and you need a reservation but it's definitely worth it for the experience. Never felt rushed.
James M — Google review
This restaurant is inside a charming old house with four small rooms, which gives it a lovely atmosphere. Reservations are a must, and there is no bar, so you can’t come early and hang out. The butternut shrimp bisque is outstanding, velvety with depth of flavor and a little heat that warms the throat. If I came again, I would just order that with the warm, crusty French bread. It is the star of the menu. A bowl was a huge portion. If you plan on ordering an entree, a cup would suffice. The veal sweetbreads were well done but swimming in an inedible sauce, overrun with capers and a strong herb flavor, maybe rosemary, and way too salty. The duck was very tender, but the l’orange sauce wasn’t the best. They also came out lukewarm and had to be sent back. They were not simply warmed up, but we got brand new orders, which attests to the impeccable service. This was my second time here, and I came back for the bisque. Last time we ordered the pork chop, and I remember then that it was just okay. The entrees are very expensive; therefore, they must be judged more critically. The King Cake bread pudding was outstanding, however. Skip the entree and have soup and dessert.

Delicious food. Highly recommend the watermelon salad and airline chicken. Pecan pie was good. I wish it was with ice cream. The crowd skewed fairly old, but I don't know why; food is for all ages. FYI bread is an extra charge and there is an additional fee for credit cards.

Immaculate. A term defined by perfection and exemplified by our culinary experience here. Delicious vibrant dishes and incredible service combine to create a transcendent dining extravaganza. I was in New Orleans for 7 days and are 16 meals. This was by far my favorite. It's out of the way but well worth the trip. Oh, and et the Shrimp and Squash Bisque. The single best dish I had my entire time in New Orleans.

Dining at its finest in New Orleans! This place is a mainstay and I can see why, they offer fresh and flavorful food, elevating classic New Orleans dishes. Everything was amazing, from the gumbo to the bbq shrimp to the seafood platter and broiled gulf fish. For dessert, we had their pecan pie and bread pudding which was made from king cake. Leave the French Quarter and head out to Brigtsen’s!

Wow! Where to start, the place is a nice cozy home turned restaurant. Super nice staff greeted us and sat us. Very nice waiter gave us recommendations and wine pairings. To start the butternut shrimp bisque was light, balanced and flavorful. The duck a L'Orange was cooked beautifully with that crispy skin. The pork chop was seasoned perfectly and so tender. Then the pecan pie and creme brulee were just so good and flavorful and not too sweet. I just love the flavors and the balance, felt just right in each dish so not to overpower your palette. Do not miss this place on your visit or date night.

The BEST BITE we ever had in NOLA was the Barbecue Shrimp from Brigsten’s. Everyone at work chuckled when I got back home and told them it was so good, we were practically licking the sauce off the plate, so the waiter brought us more crusty bread. I can’t believe I found the recipe on YouTube! Immediately ordered Chef Paul’s Seafood Seasoning to attempt at home! How generous of you. I would keep that recipe under lock and key!! So grateful for the recommendation to try it by our waiter. He’s forever in our graces. 🙏 Dined in Thursday 10/16/25 around 7:30.

Established in 1924, Domilise's Po-Boy & Bar is a beloved local spot known for its massive po' boys and beer. Housed in a modest yellow building, this iconic eatery has been serving some of New Orleans' best-loved po'boys for over a century. The family-friendly environment and unchanged recipes reflect the restaurant's commitment to tradition.
09/12/2025: In all the years that we've been too NOLA, this was our first visit to Domilise's. We came for lunch - hubby had the Surf & Turf and I had the half & half seafood po'boys, both dressed. The sandwiches we ample sized. The Surf & Turf was loaded with roast beef and fried shrimp. It was delicious! The seafood po'boy comes only in the large size with your choice of 2 types of seafood. I opted for the fried shrimp and fried oysters. Rather than mixing the two, half the po'boy was shrimp and other half oysters. Both sides were absolutely divine. The seafood was cooked perfectly as there was a nice crunch with a succulent, satisfying plumpness to the shrimp and the oysters. The fries were also crispy with tender potato-ey centers. Domilise's is a NOLA staple, so don't pass it up! We had beat the rush and were able to get a table. Be prepared for the wait!
Christiane H — Google review
Honestly, I was not the biggest fan of the po’ boy. It was very mediocre. The bread tasted cheap and not toasted. The lettuce tasted like it came from a grocery store shredded lettuce bag. The shrimp was decent but overall I was not impressed with this place. There was a short 10-15 minute wait and not enough tables or seats to accommodate everyone visiting. The workers were very nice so I feel kinda bad about my rating but maybe with some quality changes the po’ boy can at least improve.
Amber T — Google review
Sadly overhyped and underwhelming. Got the shrimp ($12) and catfish ($11.50). The bread was bland and stale, and the flavor of the shrimp and catfish were...meh. The service was great though. Also a "small" is a typical medium-sized sub, so it's plenty of food. But overall not worth the drive especially given how highly rated it is. We were disappointed.

Definitely a place to visit when you’re in New Orleans, this should be in your must to visit list! There’s so much history and culture in this small restaurant. Killer PoBoys is a contemporary po' boy shop in New Orleans that offers sandwiches with global flavors and gourmet touches. The original, compellingly delicious sandwiches feature ingredients like pork belly, spicy meatloaf, seared shrimp, and vegan sweet potato/black-eyed pea fillings between banh mi loaves. The shop has a walk-up stand inside the bar Erin Rose and a standalone sandwich cafe nearby.
I went to the original ten years ago and I always remembered the pork belly so we tried it again. It was less pretty than I remembered but so so good! It’s a sweeter braised pork belly taste with cabbage and excellent. My hubbys shrimp poboy was just ok but he did eat it all. Hole in the wall look but clean and friendly service.

Small counter-service shop with inventive and unusual poboy and other sandwich options. Fast service and delicious food. We had the sweet potato poboy with collard greens and pecan/black-eye pea spread. Great idea and flavors but the collard greens overwhelmed everything else. We also had the seared shrimp poboy which was excellent in every way: crispy shrimp (and lots of them), crunchy cucumbers and carrots - a great mix of hot and cold, and different textures. Very chill place, but a bit grimy and gritty - but that’s kind of New Orleans, so not a surprise. We’ll be back to try the pork belly and the cauliflower poboys.

The Beef Debris is best poboy I've ever had. The flavor of this sandwich was like nothing I've ever had before. The seasoning of the beef along with the pickled green beans and banana peppers were out of this world. Definitely recommend!

Yeah the only thing this place killed was my wallet. Way over priced for really bad food. We tried the pork belly, which I liked bf didn’t, and the shrimp which was the worst thing that I’ve put in my mouth in New Orleans. Bf ate the shrimp off of it but not the over vinegared carrot mess of a sandwich. Should have asked locals where to go for a good poboy cause they agreed with us.

Holy cow was this good. The shrimp po boy had so many flavors. Picked carrots. Cilantro! Cooked amazing. And the smothered greens!? Great flavors and wish I woulda come back here instead of trying a po boy somewhere else. Y'all set the bar with this! Thank you!

Never heard of "PoBoy" before I visited New Orleans. Well, it is a fancy name for a baguette, but this place makes it to perfection! The bread itself was one of the best baguette I have had in the US so far. The mixture of juicy seared shrimp from the Gulf, pickled carrots, radish, cucumbers, sriracha aioli and fresh herbs was just a wonder composition and great explosion for my taste buds. Highly recommend if you like sea food! Rounded it up with a locally crafted pilsner. Thanks - those poboys are indeed killer!!! Btw I gave the atmo a full five star, because they had great music. The ambiance is more simple easy sit in lunch/dinner spot. Not very special.

Killer Poboys lives up to the name—well, at least one of them does! I tried the cauliflower po’boy first and… it was okay. A bit bland, and I only made it halfway through before I decided to move on. The potato salad was more exciting—spicy with a strong hit of dill. If you like bold, herby flavors, you’ll enjoy it (maybe not the most kid-friendly side, though). But the real MVP? The BBQ tofu po’boy. Wow. Smoky, saucy, flavorful—it completely stole the show and made me glad I gave the menu another shot. Not everything hit the mark, but I’d absolutely come back for that tofu po'boy!

It's been a few years and I finally remembered the name of this place. First off the service. Walked in before the lunch rush and was greeted terribly. Staff seemed disengaged and not happy to be there. Did not really want to respond to questions. For the food. I ordered a Shrimp PoBoy with Collard Greens as the side along with a "Sweet Tea". For the tea I was given iced tea and was told to squeeze High Fructose Corn Syrup in the cup from squeeze bottles off to the right of the counter. That stuff doesn't blend well with cold. Back to the food itself the portion vs cost is terrible I remember paying $17 for a 6in PoBoy, side and a drink. The breading lacked seasoning and the shrimp was partially dry. Bread was pretty good however. The most damning part of the meal though was the Collard Greens. I don't know how it happened and I don't care to know, but they were BURNT. I have had a lot of soul food over the years and never have I been served burnt Greens. Eventually I may travel back to Nola to try food there again thanks to Chimetime and give this place a redemption arc. I will never order collards here again though. It may have been an off day for y'all and I understand things happen. Inwish the business well, just wanted to leave MY opinion.

It has a funky and fun atmosphere - loved it!

This place lives up to the hype. The sandwiches are unreal. The ingredients are fresh, innovative and seem like they are locally sourced. I had the ham sandwich with two-year aged cheddar, a cranberry mayo and lettuce on a Virginian bread. It was great! The fries were seafood style and had great crunch and salt, but definitely could benefit from more sauce options. The only options are ketchup packets and dukes mayo. The drinks were a surprise for me. They were quite delicious. I had the daily special which was a banana daiquiri. It was so refreshing and really tasted like raw banana. I absolutely recommend to everyone that you should try having lunch here while you are in NOLA!

Lemme tell y’all something… This place right here is one helluva hidden gem!! We hit this spot on our 10yr anniversary for a quick bite because the offered a vegan chick’n sandwich. Holy moly are we glad we did. Is it slightly off the beaten path? Sure. Is it 1000% worth it? ABSOLUTELY!! We walked up and saw a line out the door and following along the footprint of the building. This, is a good sign! Then all the Grateful Dead stickers on the door… ANOTHER good sign. Inside was more of the amazing atmosphere. Then the food…. Folks, that Chick’n sandwich.. I’m tellin ya. If you’re in the area HIT THEM UP. If you’re close to the area HIT THEM UP. If you’re nowhere close, COME DOWN AND HIT THEM UP!!!

Wow, this sandwich joint is as authentic as we had read about in the media, and more. It has been a week since we had lunch there and I am still savoring the collard green melt sandwich I enjoyed. It’s a 10 out of 10 sandwich. It’s something you won’t forget, just like your first kiss with your future spouse, and I have been married for 37 years! The owner took our order which arrived shortly later. During our lunch I watched the owner and his staff do everything from bus tables, deliver orders and work efficiently. There is seating inside and out. They are only open for lunch, so work it into your schedule while in NOLA.

This was one of our top destinations in NOLA (as my bf calls it, Sandwich Mecca) and it did not disappoint. Fried bologna sandwich, hand pot pie, and a headcheese taco had us fat and happy. An absolute must-eat in a city full of good food!

This spot came highly recommended and it lives up to every inch of the hype! Food was all VERY generous portions, sauces were fresh and bright (the vegan chicken’s sauce with fresh dill was my favorite!) collard greens were perfectly cooked. Highly recommend trying this spot!

Italian grocery store
Central Grocery and Deli is a small Italian market in the French Quarter known for its specialty foods and famous muffuletta sandwiches. The founder, Lupo Salvatore, invented the iconic sandwich in 1906. Despite facing challenges during Hurricane Ida in 2021, the market's legacy lives on through its renowned muffulettas, which can still be enjoyed at nearby locations.
So happy they have reopened! This place is a must visit on your visit to New Orleans! Sandwiches are huge! Quarter will feed 2. Highly recommend.

I've been to New Orleans seven times and this is my first time trying the Muffuletta! And I wanted it from the place that created it, Central Grocery and Deli! The Muffuletta was great! We all loved it! Even my grandson and he's a picky eater. The Muffuletta was huge, could easily feed four people.
Ken J — Google review
I had the Mufoletta which I really enjoyed. I bought the 1/4 section because a whole one can feed an adult family of 4. The service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was very casual. The prices were fair. I will revisit if I ever visit NOLA again.

Cool little shop to visit while in New Orleans. They say this is where the original muffaletta was invented. We ordered 1 whole muffaletta to split between my wife & I and still had half leftover after we both filled up on a quarter of the sandwich each.
Eric S — Google review
The Muffuletta is the greatest!! The original in NOLA so it's a must try, incredibly tasty and substantial. A whole muffuletta is like a cake, round and split in 4 quarters. My husband and I shared one half muffuletta, which is split in 2 quarters and the perfect size for 2 people. It's absolutely delicious full of tasty Italian meats, cheese and briny olives. The shop has a seating area inside, or you can take it to go as it's sold neatly packed. The deli shop sells some cool goodies including the olive salad they put in muffulettas. Loved this place!

I came here intentionally, knowing this was the home.of the original Muffuletta. The old time feel of this deli was wonderful, the sandwich, well I took a card when I found out I could have these sandwiches shipped! It was sooooo good!!

Amazing Muffulleta - Best by far in New Orleans! I ate multiple Muffuletta's while here in NOLA and none come even close to the taste, flavor, and seasoning as the Original home of the Mufalleta (go figure). For me, the difference is the bread, the quality of meat, the volume and quality of the toppings, and the seasoning/oil. Everywhere else I ate the Muffuletta, the bread was thinner and didn't have the same flavor and fresh bread taste as what you'd find in a bakery. Central Grocery's bread tasted like something you'd get fresh from a high-quality bakery, which any sandwich maker knows the bread is one of the most important aspects of the sandwich. The second difference is the quality of the meat. Anyone who goes to a traditional deli, especially like in New York knows the difference between high quality meat and low quality meat which can be tasted immediately. The same thing is true with the cheese. At Central grocery, it's clear they have one of the highest quality meat selections in New Orleans which generally makes the Sandwich a completely different and higher quality taste. Also, they sell the highest quality ingredients including fresh high-quality pickles, olives, and a bunch of other condiments separately, like what a bakery or specialized grocery store would have. The quality of the olives alone along with the other condiments, take the flavor and taste of the sandwich above the others I ate. Lastly is the seasoning and oil used on the bread and meat. Every other Muffulleta I ate in New Orleans literally tasted dry, even though the cheese was melted. It was because they all lacked the oil and seasoning that is used at Central Grocery, where even without the cheese being melted, the sandwich is moist and delicious. I thought I'd have to eat it heated which I did try as well. But in all honesty, I can eat it completely cold as it is provided and it tasted just as good due to the volume of oil and seasoning used on the bread and meat. When purchased you can get the muffuletta in either a half or a full and each comes with heating instructions. If you do decide to heat it, it's worth trying & makes it equally delicious. I prefer crunchier bread versus softer bread where the top and bottom is crunchy but the middle is soft and fluffy so that's the way I made it when heating it, but it comes with instructions to keep the bread soft if preferred. I normally eat a foot long hoagie sub when eating a sandwich and I could only finish half of the sandwich since it is huge! (See the attached photo and note that the plate used in the photo is a large dinner plate). Overall, I didn't find another Muffuletta place that made could even compare to the original at Central Grocery, but I'll keep looking. Either way, if you are visiting New Orleans and you like a quality sandwich with fresh baked bread, high quality deli and ingredients, and amazing seasoning, you need to make a stop at Central Grocery!

American restaurant
Cochon Butcher, a joint venture by chefs Stephen Stryjewski and Donald Link, celebrates the traditional Cajun Boucherie by handcrafting boudin, andouille, smoked bacon, and head cheese. The menu features locally sourced pork, fresh produce, and seafood to deliver authentic flavors of Cajun country.
I'm way overdue on this review, but as usual, I'm thinking about this place as I do regularly from 319 miles west. Originally went next door to refuel after a few hours at the Super Bowl Experience, but they were pretty full up with media, so we decided to try the Butcher. I am so glad we did. I'm a muffluletta fiend and have never finished a whole one in one sitting, but when I tell you I could not stop going to town on this one, I mean it. I miss that muffuletta at least once a week. The meats were so fresh, the bread was so fluffy and perfectly toasted... it was transcendent. My partner got the Saturday special fried chicken, and the flavor on that was gorgeous too. Service was awesome despite the initially busy crowd, and the patio was a great spot for watching various NFL jerseys go by (and getting the occasional "WHO DAT" since we were in full Saints gear). Really nice, chill place to enjoy phenomenal food, a whiskey, and a local brew. I'm making a beeline for Cochon Butcher the next time I'm "back home."

I've been there twice. Each time, it was great. Excellent food. Friendly, smiling, non-intrusive staff. The music is cool and not overly loud, as is often the case, and the decor is really nice. What's more, service is prompt after ordering. The best place I've ever eaten in NOLA, everything was perfect.

Food, atmosphere etc. was amazing. Service was 10x better. Our attending waitress was MK and she was insanely attentive, kind, and helpful in giving recommendations on where to go during our time in NOLA. We went to at least four of her recommendations and loved all of them. The food was stellar; fresh, came fast, smelled amazing, tasted even better. Not if, WHEN I come back to NOLA I will come back to Cochon and I hope to see MK again to thank her for her hospitality!!!

TLDR: Cochon Butcher has always been a local legend, and now with a Michelin Bib Gourmand which is well deserved. I have been coming to Cochon Butcher ever since the late, great Anthony Bourdain recommended it, and it has only gotten better over time. Fast forward to 2025, and seeing them finally receive a Michelin Bib Gourmand feels like well earned recognition. I brought my wedding party here for our rehearsal lunch, and it could not have gone better. The staff was incredible. We called ahead since we had a large group, and they kindly reserved a section for us so we could enjoy our meal together. Everyone was blown away by how exceptional the food was for what is considered “fast casual.” We practically ordered the entire menu, from the BBQ shrimp to the Cochon Muffaletta, the Cochon burger, and the boudin links. Every single dish was outstanding. The flavors, the portions, and the consistency were all on point. The drink menu deserves special mention too. The beer, wine, and cocktail list is excellent. The Hogwash Old Fashioned was the star of the show. The glass is rinsed with pork fat before mixing, giving it a subtle smoky depth that makes it unforgettable. We chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful day, and it made the experience even more enjoyable. Surrounded by good friends, great food, and the relaxed energy of New Orleans, it was a meal to remember. Michelin may have just discovered Cochon Butcher, but we have known for years that it is something special.

One of the best meals in New Orleans! Especially if you really like meat. 🙂 Very casual, warm, and welcoming environment here. You walk into the place and order at the counter. (Usually a little like but it goes by fast!) employees at the counter are so great and helpful if you need assistance with the menu and making decisions. MK, our fellow Philly girl!, took great care of us and helped me pick out some options. You get a number and find a table wherever to sit. Inside and outside options, but so be aware it’s majority high top tables so not the most accessible. It’s well staffed here, with the staff working as a team, so everything feels very efficient. We got several charcuterie and sausage options, a side of mac and cheese, and the Monday blue plate special which was red beans & rice with fried pork chops. Everything was 10/10. Highly recommend getting a charcuterie or sausage sampler. The boudin and duck pastrami were big standouts for us. Homemade pickles were a sneaky standout, loved them. I really really wanted to try a sandwich as well, it seemed that’s what most people were ordering and the options were really creative. For two people, our large amount of food was about $55. Without drinks. Well worth for the quality and lovely experience!

DO NOT stop at the first cochon restaurant sign. CONTINUE DOWN THE STREET to the butchery sign. It's worth the extra 100 feet. After accidentally going to the "restaurant," we continued to the "butchery" and had the best time. We ordered the pork belly sandwich. Delish! Came with a spicy aioli and pickles. The atmosphere is fun. Part pig, part star wars. The service was even better. The only disappointment was the sugar cane dr.pepper.

Highly recommended place and did not disappoint Cochon Butcher (Not the restaurant) is such a chill place with amazing food and good time vibes. I visited this place for lunch during a Tuesday afternoon. Don't be scare if you see a long queue waiting to order. They take care of customers relatively fast. The menu was fairly simple but still plenty options. From charcuterie to handhelds and desserts. They also have a bar area that seemed impressive. I ordered the BBQ Pork and Pancetta Sandwiches. The bread itself is delicious and the protein superb. The sides makes a good complement to round up flavors. My bill was about $50 including tip and the service staff is efficient. I am definitely planning to come back during my stay in NOLA.

Angelo Brocato is a renowned New Orleans institution that has been serving up delectable Italian desserts and gelato since 1905. The family-owned parlor, located in the Mid-City neighborhood, boasts a charming pastel-pink setting that exudes nostalgia. With over a century of experience, Angelo Brocato offers an extensive menu featuring classic spumoni, handmade cannoli, Italian cookies, and coffee.
This place doesn't really need an introduction; its reputation speaks for itself. Casual charm and personal nostalgia made this a no-brainer place to get my morning coffee and sfogliatelle, or "fogies" as they adorably call it. Note that they only do sfogliatelle on the weekends or special holidays as they are intensive to make. Anyway, everything's freshly made and tastes how it's supposed to. Now, if I can only get lobster tails... :)

I really can't say enough good things about this place. I started going here roughly 6 years ago when I started grad school at the University of New orleans. It's my absolute favorite bakery. Everything they have is delicious. I literally have never had anything bad at this bakery. The gelato is incredible. The sweets are great. The Spumoni is incredible. The people are incredibly friendly. I've come in so many times by now that they know me. Absolutely wonderful place. It's usually so don't be surprised if there is a bit of a line, but it's absolutely worth it. If you know the right times to pop in, however, you can walk right up without any wait. Prices are beyond reasonable. I will get a box of stuff and it will be around $20. Great place to take a date if they don't mind a little bit of a crowd from time to time. Highly recommend brocato's. I will continue to be a patron as long as possible. I'm literally leaving the bakery now with the bag full of goodies.

Breakfast restaurant
Clover Grill is a retro-styled diner located near gay bars, offering round-the-clock service to cater to Bourbon Street revelers and service industry workers. The diner is known for its quick service and simple yet satisfying eats, with popular options like the Build Your Own Omelette and Build Your Own Burger. Its white washed plaster exterior, brightly painted walls, and glass-paneled doors contribute to its laid-back atmosphere.
Came here after a ghost tour for a quick little snack before hitting bourbon and was pleasantly surprised! This place is veryyyy small but packs a lot of flavor. It's like a little diner that has great food. They were swinging out burgers left and right and they looked and smelled so good. But we didn't get one. When I'm back in the city I will for sure try one of those! Highly recommend on a bourbon street night. And it's open 24 hours!

I did not expect a tiny little burger grill to be the place I hit up twice in a 2 day trip to NOLA but this beef burger was one of the best I have ever had in my life so couldn’t help myself. I don’t even understand how or why it was as good as it was because it looks like any old burger but it was seriously amazing. Just simple food with every detail done to absolute perfection I guess. My partner had the chicken sandwhich our first visit and said it was a 10/10 too. The vibe here is great, super cute interior and the location is so close to where you’re probably gonna be on bourbon street so easy to pop in and I highly reccomend you do. I also want to comment on the service from the staff as I did see quite a few comments talking this down - both times we went we had a diffeeent server and they were both really lovely and attentive. They were friendly, Made sure we had everything we needed and seemed to genuinely care about delivering good service which wasn’t the case everywhere we went in the French quarter. 10/10, you gotta go here at least once but more likely, you’ll end up back twice.

Kat was phenomenal. She welcomed everyone inside and got our group of four seated quickly. She took our drink order, and made us laugh right off the bat. Very pleased to have her attend to our lunch, which was extremely delicious. I had the special club with bacon, ham, turkey, two types of cheese, mayo, tomato, and lettuce. Two of us had the beef burger with cheese, one with fries, and one with onion rings. Our fourth order was the corn dog, all of which were great options. Kat kept the entire diner clean as people checked out, picking up dishes and cleaning the tables in a prompt manner. I would love to come back as we enjoyed our experience here.

Walked in on Sunday afternoon with my husband, daughter, and father in law. I didn’t get her name, but the red haired manager/server acknowledged us and we sat down right away. Ordered 2 club sandwiches, and the breakfast burger. While I am not a fan of eggs, I did take a bite of the breakfast burger and had my socks blown off! Even though I was eating the best club sandwich I’ve ever eaten, I wish I had ordered the breakfast burger. Our conversation with the lady was even better. As a tourist, I had a million questions lol. Probably the best conversation out of the entire visit to NOLA/Louisiana. Really enjoyed the camaraderie she showed us, and the vibe of the entire place was fantastic!!! Would definitely eat here again!!!

This was one of my favorite burger spots, but I got a breakfast burger with a live roach or beetle or whatever type of insect that is. When I showed the server this, he promised to comp the meal and give us a new one. Obviously I didn’t want it, but he insisted. Because I agreed to the replacement meal that I did not want I was then required to pay the full price, when the check came. It was 4 am and I was too tired to argue. It ruined it for me it’s one of the best burgers in America but now how many times did I eat a bug and not know?

Coquette is a trendy and elegant restaurant located in the Garden District of New Orleans. The two-story circa 1880s cottage offers a welcoming vibe with an elegant wooden bar, tin ceiling, and warm glow. Chefs Kristen Essig and Michael Stolzfus excel at creating contemporary Southern cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The menu features small plates for sharing as well as a five-course blind-tasting menu with wine pairings.
Fabulous experience at Coquette last night! We tried a bunch of dishes and overall enjoyed them a lot. Highlights included: smoke trout roe atop an onion dip with homemade chips, shrimp chitarra pasta (spicy), and the red snapper. The cocktails we tried were also EXCELLENT. Only notes we had were that the apple salad begged for some lettuce for bulk and mouth feel, and the sweet potato pie dessert lacked a crunch to the crust. Would definitely recommend and go back.
Benjamin H — Google review
This was a cozy restaurant with good food and inventive cocktails. The food was good, but felt like it was missing that ‘something’ to bump it to great. The signature cocktails were definitely new and used combos you don’t see elsewhere. The service was okay. The server was nice, but they seemed understaffed for a Friday night. We ended up waiting 20 minutes for dessert to come after ordering. Given the competition in NOLA, there are other places that hit all the boxes.

This restaurant lives up to the hype. It's worth making a reservation and spending an evening here trying different dishes. The bread with fresh butter is a great start. The peach & coppa is an explosion of flavors. The smoky peppers give it a real kick and the sweet peaches and prosciutto balance well. The blue crab gnocchi is delicious. The smoked short ribs are perfectly cooked. We finished with pannacotta and peaches. We loved everything we ordered!

Wow, phenomenal meal! From the inviting atmosphere nestled in the heart of the Garden district to the superb and attentive service to the best part- unbelievable food with a modern twist on American cuisine, Coquette was a great experience. Cocktails were on point and each dish offered a unique flavor. I never had yellowtail carpaccio, but it was delicious. And I never knew I needed an heirloom cucumber salad, but the added tuna provided a necessary, salty balance. The steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare, and the chocolate cake was divine. If you’re looking for a fancy and upscale restaurant regarding district, this is a must.

I love this little gem in the Irish channel. it's a cozy spot, great for a date night or intimate group dinner with 6 people or less. Every drink was great, every dish was delicious! they even have a selection of "mocktails" for those who don't or can't indulge. we will certainly dine here again. I recommend the Smoked Tomato Gazpacho, the Peaches&Coppa, the Ricotta Gnocchi, and the New York Strip which will be cooked to perfection. 👌

When a restaurant has a smaller menu like this I expect every item to be good. I ordered the shrimp risotto which had only two shrimp in the whole dish and was extremely bland. Multiple people at my table got the fish and it was also incredibly bland. The prices are high for what you get. Our server was not very friendly and the service itself was slow… even on a slow night. Wouldn’t recommend.
Lexi S — Google review
We went on a Thursday night, and we had just a great time. The food and drinks are inventive without being pretentious. We're still arguing over whether the peaches and coppa could have been better balanced, but I loved it regardless. The potato-crusted flounder was the best dish we had that whole weekend, when we also ate at GW Fins. The chef even stopped by to ask how we liked the food. What's there to complain about?

Sylvain is an elegant gastropub located in a former carriage house in the French Quarter. The restaurant offers a mix of old-world charm and modern style, with an intimate courtyard for outdoor seating. It's described as a cozy, candlelit space perfect for romantic evenings. The menu features American fare with staple dishes like the chicken sandwich and pappardelle Bolognese, along with a variety of small plates.
This was a wonderful place for a beautiful meal! The corn bread with the Cajun butter was something dreams are made out of. It was truly delicious. The outside courtyard was a perfect place for a date night. Every dish we ordered here was made with love. The service was good but not the most welcoming. I’d recommend this place for a date night or a night out with friends.

My partner and I loved Sylvain. The atmosphere was amazing—special thanks to the hostess for seating us by the window. We started with the mixed green salad, which set the tone for a great meal. Cocktails were spot on, and the burger was one of the best I’ve had in recent memory. The snapper had perfectly crispy skin and paired beautifully with the chilled salad underneath. I wasn’t a fan of the chocolate cake, but my lady loved it—so that’s still a win in my book.

What a great gem of a restaurant. Stopped in on a Friday night for a late dinner. Had the shrimp remoulade for an app and split the chicken sandwich for dinner. Expresso martini and sazerac were great openers for cocktails. It started raining so we moved inside to the bar. Fun experience!

Nestled just off Chartres Street, Sylvain is one of my go-to spots when wandering the Quarter. The menu serves up elevated American fare that never misses, and the drinks? Always flowing, always on point. The bartender—whose name escapes me— is genuinely the sweetest, and the service from alleyway to host is consistently top-tier. The patio is a dream: cozy, inviting, and perfect for lingering over a meal. If you’re strolling by, give this place a try. Sylvain is a quiet classic.

WOW! That’s what I thought after only my first bite of food! We didn’t have a reservation but still were seated, and during the weekend before Halloween it was fun to see people eating in their costumes. It’s packed tight but for good reason, for good food! I got the short rib and I’m so glad I did! It was the perfect portion and the meat was so dang tender and the veggies paired perfectly. It really elevated my vacation.

Very cute. Very authentic. Very not your run-of-the-mill eatery. My husband and I ate here last Tuesday and we can't wait to come back! The ambiance was adorable and the staff was extremely likeable. Our waitress was so easygoing and funny! Ice cream shop
Creole Creamery is a beloved local ice cream parlor chain with locations in Uptown and Lakeview areas of New Orleans. The parlors offer a casual setting where visitors can enjoy artisanal ice cream creations made fresh daily. Known for their ever-changing flavors and unique specialties, such as the Tchoupitoulas sundae, Creole Creamery provides a one-of-a-kind ice cream experience.
07MAR25 ~ What a fun place to eat ice cream and spend time with your family or friends! Kids will love this place! It is a locally owned & operated small business. You order and they make everything right in front of you. There are lots & lots of options of ice cream and how you want it prepared. They make their own ice cream on & change some of the types of ice cream often. The inside is clean, bright, with a friendly, fun, atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are good. I had the Classic Sundae, which I recommend, and it was all I could do to finish it. My grandson had to help me! This was my first visit to Creole Creamery & I went with my son and his family (Who are regulars). My son was the first person to complete 'The Tchoupitoulas Special' twice (It was $25 when my son ate two of them. Now it is $45)!

My cousin and I were craving something sweet and Creole Creamery filled this craving. As we pulled up I noticed the buildings 1940s/50s architecture and design. I love that they kept the history alive with keeping the outer structure intact. This continued inside the building with the strong red brick, long ice cream counter, and photos. The street was parked up, so we parked across the street, which had tons of open parking. Upon walking in we were encouraged to try samples. I tried their cookies monster and cookies and cream. Both were amazing and I could not decide! The lady that assisted helped as I was able to get one scoop with both flavors. Omg! Them together was super delicious! The mix of the chocolate, cookies, and cream was heaven! My cousin got their red velvet and it was just as creamy, cool, and delicious. We really liked that they were not super and sweet. The price was not bad as for one amble scoop was a little over $4! This is the spot!

If your looking for a good ice cream shop this is a great choice! Lots of choices of ice cream and the line although normally long it moves fast! Employees have always been kind and helpful! I got the chocolate amaretto cheesecake ice cream in a sundae, my husband the banana split. And my daughter a scoop of the chocolate amaretto ice cream!

It’s the most iconic ice cream spot in New Orleans for a reason. Alongside the classic flavors, they offer some truly unique options. I tried the saffron rose cardamom (bastani), matcha strawberry, and olive oil salt- all were absolutely delicious!!!! It was busy, but we still found a seat. Highly recommend!

Best ice cream in uptown! I took a chance and I’m so glad we found the best ice cream place. The ice cream is out of this world good. Best treat on any hot day. Notable mentions the petit ice cream and the banana cheesecake, insane!

Piper is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable about all the flavors, and helped us choose the perfect scoops. Her energy made the whole experience even sweeter. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and it reflects in the way she treats customers. Piper is the kind of person who makes you want to come back—not just for the ice cream, but for the great service. Thank you, Piper, for making our visit extra special!

I looooooooove Creole Creamery. It’s a post-exam staple for me. Their ice cream is truly the best reward after a stressful week. They always have new flavors on rotation, and sometimes they get a little bit weird with it, which I love. I will always try a weird ice cream flavor, and they’re almost always good. The service is great, especially since it’s always so crowded and the employees work so hard and so quickly to get everyone’s orders filled.
Sophia G — Google review
Came here with the kiddos and really enjoyed our treat! They have a lot of different options—really unique flavors & their ice cream isn’t overly sweet. I went with the junior sundae. Nice portion size, the single scoop is pretty large. Also tried the Creole Strawberry, amazingly delicious! Can get quite crowded so seating can be problematic. Staff were friendly & attentive. Love that you can sample! Will be back.

BEST chicken and waffles i ever had! A nice sweet, but spicy kick to it!!! ABSOLUTELY recommend ! my husband loved the special they had on shrimp n grits! Mimosas were good, i got pineapple juice! Waitress was very sweet and always consistent on checking on us.

We had breakfast everyday here during our recent trip in New Orleans. That tells you how much we loved this place. Great food, superb service, reasonable prices and good vibe. It’s always a bit tricky for vegetarians to find food in the Southern states, but there are a couple of options at this restaurant. They could also do gluten-free buns!
Coco L — Google review
My my my, best chicken and waffles ever. Best fried chicken of my life and them grits.. normally I put salt, pepper and butter on my grits. Don't mess with these grits y'all, they're perfect the way they get dropped on your table. This is your perfect little hole in the wall restaurant that has the most delicious food.

Breakfast this morning was absolutely outstanding! Thank you, Adam and your team for a wonderful dining experience! Definitely will visit again when I’m back in New Orleans. Looking forward to trying other menu options. If they are anything like I experienced this morning, I can’t wait to try them. Thanks again for everything!

The place had a nice vibe and the food overall was okay, but we personally didn’t enjoy the waffle and pancake — they had a weird sour taste that wasn’t for us. Everything else was fine, just not quite what we expected from brunch classics.
Yvonne A — Google review
Great place to get breakfast or brunch in New Orleans. I got the pancake puffs with lemon. I feel like it’s more of a sharing plate, but it’s one of the items on the menu that popped out to me. The lemon sauce was pretty good, I think I prefer beignets over pancake puffs but again it was too cute not to order. I’ll definitely come back and order their savory dishes though.

Bakery
Lunch restaurant
La Boulangerie is an authentic French bakery located in Uptown New Orleans, offering a wide variety of classic French pastries, breads, and sandwiches. The bakery prides itself on serving freshly baked goods each morning, including favorites like pain au chocolat and quiche florentine. With its open and airy ambiance, complete with a sunny courtyard space, it's the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch.
I went into La Boulangerie for a quick lunch, and quick it was! I went in May, right in the middle of college move-outs, with a long line out the door. But the staff were incredibly efficient in both moving the line along, and preparing the food in no time. I was in and out so fast. The breads and pastries are definitely the stars here. I just wish they stayed open longer!

I had the pleasure of visiting their store in New Oregon and it was a great experience. I had the salted caramel cake and the girlfriend had a chocolate cake. We got our fair share and more. I got my sister some bakery goods and she loved them. The service and atmosphere was good 😁. My next visit to New Orleans, I will be going back!
Juawan C — Google review
We're on a road trip and had to stop by a laundry. While waiting for clothes I noticed this bakery across the street. Went in to get a cup of coffee and had my mind blown. Very nicely laid out with a great vibe, lively but you can still carry a conversation. Waitstaff were extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions. The chocolate cake and coffee were absolutely delicious. Met one of the principals as she was checking the displays. Had a very friendly conversation as I am an old baker. Love to see ownership on top of there product. In this town where there seems to be a pastry shop every two blocks I highly recommend this establishment. You won't be disappointed.

This place is legit. Coffee and pastries executed to perfection. Best coffee I’ve had in a while. Delicious! The lemon tart had the right acidity and sweetness. The cream puff was on point. That chocolate filling was velvety. I want more!!! The staff super friendly and quick too.
Melissa J — Google review
This was one of the weirdest dining experiences of my life. My friend has significant nut and poppyseed allergy and asked to change bread on the sandwich to accommodate. Two different staff members said this was not possible and they were not allowed to change breads. Instead, they provided a mini baguette, uncut and un-toasted, and all the parts of the sandwich for us to put together. It makes no sense that the restaurant couldn’t just make the sandwich with a different bread. I still gave it three stars because the other sandwiches were quite good but I wouldn’t recommend going there if you have allergies.
Liam B — Google review
We absolutely love this charming French-style bakery, with its delightful range of croissants 🥐 and pastries. I highly recommend trying the ham & cheese or almond croissant—both are perfectly buttery and crisp, just as a proper breakfast pastry should be. A must-visit for anyone craving an authentic French experience!
Katherine M — Google review
We ve been here for breakfast: I liked my lamb-sandwich very much. The salmon Bagel tasted good, but the bagel itself was very chewy. Sweets like the bread pudding are great, the cream on the chocolate Tarts tastes sour. We also grabbed some bread, cause we wished it is crusty... But it is not. Same softbread like anywhere in US. Overall to pricy in my opinion

Liuzza's by the Track is a casual Creole tavern located near the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, making it a popular spot for festival-goers looking to save some money on food and drinks. Established in the 1930s, this mid-city gem is known for its signature BBQ shrimp po' boys and slow-simmered corned beef.
The first time I tried gumbo was here. It was absolutely delicious. The shrimp was so juicy and tender. It literally melt in my mouth. I couldn't get enough of it. The fried okra was amazing. I had the Breathtaking Beef sandwich. I wasn't expecting the horseradish to burn my nose. Next time, I will get something different.

Luizza's by the Track has incredible food with bold flavors that really hit the spot. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the service was solid. I’d give it 4 stars—not a perfect experience, but definitely worth a visit for the food alone.

Small place but was able to easily walk in and sit at a table on a Friday evening. Food came so quick and was SO GOOD would highly suggest the sweet potato fries. Vibes are all there, jeopardy was on and all the tables were into it and guessing answers - it was a great place to have dinner!

Got a bowl of gumbo and the fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were amazing!!! Would highly recommend those. The gumbo was OK as well, not my favorite — was a bit on the thinner side. The service was great! It’s a small place and the tables do tend to fill up quickly, so might have a little bit of a wait.
Geetika N — Google review
There is a reason why this place is famous. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is 10/10. We loved the waitress, Kaysee. She told us that the gumbo here has been made by the same man for 30 years. I got the BBQ shrimp po’boy that was more like a sweet BBQ po’boy. It’s a little oily but worth it! The apple crisp with a la mode which was AMAZING!! Definitely recommend the oyster po’boy, the gumbo, and the Ruben corned beef and the fried green tomatoes also.
K — Google review
One of the best gumbo I’ve ever tried. My only regret was ordering a cup instead of a bowl, but I had to leave some room for my shrimp po’boy, which was excellent. This was my first time trying it. Also, the beer being ice cold made things more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Paladar 511 is a trendy restaurant in Marigny that has been making waves since its establishment in 2015. The kitchen is run by a mix of local and imported talent, including the husband-and-wife team Jack Murphy and Susan Dunn, along with Chef Ed Dunn. The restaurant's lofted industrial space is filled with natural light, creating a welcoming atmosphere for diners.
Stopped by on a Thursday late afternoon with no reservation. We were unable to get dining seat but we were able to get counter seating. Seeing the chefs at work truly embodies how much work goes into your meal. Ordered the Squid Ink Pasta with Shrimp as a starter and must say it was a hefty portion and was by far my favorite dish of the night. We also ordered some zucchini bread with salted butter which was phenomenal, so warm and soft. And my friend had the aranchini and said it was really good.
Latoya M — Google review
Hands down the best meal we had in New Orleans! I highly recommend the Wagyu flat iron steak - best I have ever had. The sauce was delicious! We also had the pappardelle and red plums for dessert. I am glad we had reservations as the restaurant was busy. Service was good.

The squid ink pasta was amazing, and the ragu was also very good. The atmosphere was great, and the service was friendly. We were there on a Tuesday and it was packed—we didn’t have a reservation but managed to get a seat at the bar. Highly recommend!

Outstanding modern Italian restaurant, the prices are moderate but flavors and service were exceptional. I had the house made squid ink pasta with shrimp and it was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. My fiance had the butter chicken with greens and it was very good as well. Next time I'm in New Orleans I'm coming back to Paladar 511.

Came here with a few friends for brunch while visiting from out of town. I got the Huevos Rancheros and an orange mimosa. The food and drink were fantastic and I enjoyed the open seating and kitchen areas a lot. Service was prompt and our server was kind while informing me there was no code to the bathroom despite my friends pranking me saying there was. 5 stars from me!
Adam M — Google review
Absolutely love this Italian restaurant in the edge of the French quarter. Very hip and fun vibe on the inside of this vaulted ceiling converted commercial space. The wait staff was friendly and welcoming. Our food was fantastic, we had the giant ranchini ball and it was crispy yet moist and tender on the inside with the beef ragu.. We had the wagyu steak as well as the margarita pizza. We absolutely loved their gluten-free flourless cake together with two heaping scoops of hazelnut ice cream and fresh whipping cream. Absolutely five stars!!
Mary B — Google review
5 of us dined at Paladar 511 on a Thursday night. The place filled up, so make reservations! A pretty dining room surrounds the open kitchen. Staff were attentive and helpful, up until it came time to pay the bill, when they disappeared. It took way too long to settle up. They don’t do separate checks so prepare to do math. The food: Autumn squash salad —delicious but too much onion. Lettuces salad—delicious but a touch too acidic. Arancini-delicious. Hot buttered chicken main-outstanding! Baked cannelloni-very good. Two of us were excited for caccio et peppe (a simple but deceptively difficult dish to make) and got it as a main. Alas, it was not caccio et peppe. The pasta was an open fusilli when we were expecting a sturdy spaghetti. No sauce, just butter with cracked peppers, and a sprinkle of Parmesan on top. My friend called it butter pasta which is more fitting than caccio et peppe. Between the disappointing caccio et peppe and the annoying bill paying, I give it 4 stars. But we would return as it overall was very nice.

Asian fusion restaurant
Restaurant
MoPho is a trendy spot in New Orleans that offers a unique fusion of Vietnamese and Creole influences. The restaurant's menu features a playful mix of Vietnamese dishes like pho and banh mi with Japanese and Latin American touches. Established by Chef Michael Gulotta, MoPho combines delicate flavors from both cuisines, offering options such as po-boys, rice and noodle bowls, as well as vegan choices like the Vegan Pho and Vegan Banh Mi.
Mopho is where New Orleans and Vietnam decided to party — and it works. The hot sausage buns are so good they made me want to propose marriage to a piece of bread. The OG nuoc mam caramel wings are sticky, funky, sweet chaos — like getting mugged by deliciousness. I left covered in sauce and without a shred of dignity. 10/10, no regrets.
Paul C — Google review
This restaurant is really close to my house so I can't believe my first time going was yesterday. I started off with the Thai tea boba with rum and the queso appetizer. Both were really good but I'd prefer more roti and no cracklins or shrimp chips. For the entree I got the yellow curry with chicken and it was virtually flavorless. I kept trying to add salt and pepper but it just didn't do the trick. I could tell it had potential though but it was just something missing. My friend got the sesame cucumbers for her appetizer which were really fresh and light. She also got the shrimp and grits and it's definitely an acquired flavor so I can't really describe it but I wasn't a fan

I love MOPHO, I’m a long time customer and I’ve eaten on plenty occasions rather dining in or take-out. I had the Traditional Chicken Pho / Shrimp add-on / (2) hard boiled eggs. Great date night spot!

Was in the area and decided to try this restaurant with a friend. The restaurant was clean on the outside, which was good. The inside is a nice quaint spot, a decent size, and the atmosphere was inviting. There was no wait. We were seated quickly. It also has outdoor seating. The server, her name is Carol, was friendly and knowledgeable about the food. She allowed us to try the Jasmine tea after we asked about a flavor tea or lemonade. She was able to explain the menu and was very patient with us because we had several questions. 😆 The food - we ordered the cabbage kimchi (I think that's what it's called), my first time having it, and it was pretty good. I also ordered the oyster bowl with the noodles. It was really tasty, had a sweetness to it, and the oysters were fried just right. I could definitely eat that again. My friend had the chicken bowl, she was pleased. The jasmine tea wasn't bad, but the jasmine was an after taste and not an initial taste so it wasn't for me. But hey, someone else might enjoy it! The restroom-the restroom is small, it has 2 stalls, but it was clean. I would recommend this restaurant.
Kitty A — Google review
Fusion Vietnamese with a seasonal menu. Everything on their current menu sounded so good I had a hard time selecting. We ended with the nuac nam chicken bites, crispy green beans, and the beef brisket and P&J oyster buns. The chicken bites were really good, we found ourselves putting that sauce on the rest of our meal. The Korean beef brisket bao buns were a close second. I was disappointed in the green beans. They weren't breaded, so not that crispy. And the curry sauce wasn't hitting all the flavors. Most of the dishes were missing something out of the sweet, salty, umami, spicy combo. That balance is what I enjoy the most from Vietnamese food. My friend was talking to the newish server, telling her about past experiences there and how much things have changed. She informed us they were changing again as they were in the process of making a new menu. I did want to try the hot honey vindaloo, maybe they'll keep it. Worth a return trip to try new things.

Four stars because of the wait and it was a little difficult to get a hold of our waiter but otherwise I definitely want to come back here! I got the steamed brisket buns which were a sort of tacos of sort and my friend got the Crispy chicken sandwich. The food is very delicious, and I need to try the wings when I come back. It’s a very cute modern vibes restaurant and was a nice end to the day after visiting city park.

Café Reconcile, located in New Orleans, is a unique eatery with a mission. Established in 1996, it aims to transform the lives of at-risk youth aged 16-24 through workforce development programs. The kitchen is run by these young individuals who are being trained in Southern cooking while also learning valuable life skills. The menu features old-school New Orleans soul food prepared by the youth undergoing training.
First time here. Discovered it when out working in the city. Great place!! Love the fact of how they are giving back to the community by helping young people with work training and such. The Fried Green Tomato sandwich was nothing short of delicious!!! The greens were great too!!! Looking forward to coming back! They take reservations (we were fortunate enough to get seated without one, I understand why now).

The food is so delicious with so many options of savory goodness to choose from you will sinfully full when you leave. Great service and beyond delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts. I recommend the turkey necks, greens and peach cobbler. However you can do no wrong with any selection made.

This place was amazing! By far the best food we had in NOLA. Price was good, drinks were great, and I will dream about those crab cakes! The gumbo was the best of 5 different restaurants. My husband is still bemoaning the fact that they were closed on Sunday and we couldn't go again. Plus their mission is worth supporting. 5 star dining for a 3 star price. Go support them because I desperately need them to still be there when we visit again.

This has got to be the best comfort food that is pretty, I've ever had. It's top notch, right up there with those high end places. Beautiful inside. I recommend the fried turkey necks. Just try them, I promise you will want more! Very tender, meat, fell right off the bone. Fried green tomato sandwich was a 10 out of 10. So delicious. The bacon was cooked the way it should be so when you bite in to the sandwich, a strip of bacon doesn't come out, only the bite. The tomatoes were done perfect and that jalapeno cornbread toast it was served on? Delicious, not dry, just perfect. If you're ever in New Orleans, you must go. You won't be disappointed. We are going back for lunch tomorrow. This non - profit does a great job with the employees who get a 2nd chance. These kids are going somewhere, they are great chefs, hosts and servers. I would imagine some will go on to own their own restaurant.

Have been wanting to try this place for a long time especially considering their mission. Their hours of operation are a little difficult for the 9-5 time, but finally made it out. Everything was fresh to order. Staff were friendly. They have indoor seating, parking is street parking. The building vibe is loft style, with high ceilings which made the place feel spacious. It was a busy time however we were seated quickly. I think they put a lot of detail into the place. Really enjoyed the fried turkey necks and the sweet potato fries. Would go back for those.

Dim sum restaurant
Chinese restaurant
Restaurant
Dian Xin is a charming Chinese restaurant located in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans. Despite being a rare find among the Creole eateries, it has garnered widespread enthusiasm since its opening in 2019. The name 'Dian Xin' translates to dim sum, and true to its name, the restaurant excels in this area.
From walking in and seeing a giant koi fish that greeted us like a dog, to a wonderful server that answered all my questions and gave me the best suggestions of what to eat, to the fresh and tasty food. I couldn't have been more happy.
James C — Google review
3.7 stars. We opted for something other than Cajun and found Dian Xin. Simple, small venue serving seriously good food. Slight knock on the atmosphere as about a third of the way through lunch, we all started to get hot as there was little circulation in the restaurant even though they had fans on. The soup dumplings, wings, and honey walnut shrimp were perfect! Definitely worth eating here if you get an Asian craving.
M C — Google review
It is a nice casual Asian place. Food was great — we had beef eggplants and wonton soup, — both amazing. They have better selection of drinks that you would expect and prices are very reasonable, especially as for the French Quarter. The only reason why I rated it 4*, I do really prefer my food served in a not chipped tableware.
Dmytro B — Google review
One of our favorite places in New Orleans. Dian Xin was a good combination of comfort food with unique twist. I enjoyed the shrimp and crawfish dumplings. I’ve never seen that before. They were huge dumplings I’m not used to seeing. The taste was great too. Hot n sour soup was a surprise. I have a general baseline for this type of soup as they can all taste the same but this one was a great balance of sour and savory. The soup itself is a meal in its own since it comes with a lot in it. Lastly, the jianbing was great. I haven’t had one since I’ve been to Chicago, and this one was just as good as the one I found in Chinatown. The braised beef was tender and I loved the sweet sauce they put in it. A huge plus with Dian Xin was their anime theme. They were playing anime intro songs all day and had Jojo on.

I visited NOLA from Texas, we were there the labor day weekend. You walk in and it’s like a mom and pop shop. They do regular entrees on top of serving hot pot. We went from some seafood stuffed boa, salt and pepper squid and the sesame seed chicken. When I say we cleaned our plates, I mean it. It was by far the best food I had all 4 days in NOLA. So thank you. Next time I visit this will be my first stop!!!

The food was hot and fresh. The service was quick. The price was incredible 2 appetizers 2 drinks and 4 large entrees with lots of rice still under $100! In new orleans thats impressive!! The waiters are young and energetic. When listing french quarter restaurants Its a pretty slept on place comparatively.

I had been wanting to go to this restaurant for over a year! My friend & I finally went yesterday. Highly disappointed. Our waiter was great! But unless you eat pork the soup dumplings won't be for you. I will say the crab rangoon was perfect but we also ordered the governor Tao's chicken it was so dry & so nasty, completely unedible. They wouldn't comp it for us even though we ate none of it. Highly disappointed to say the least.

Nice Chinese restaurant in the quarter. Menu features a lot of dumplings and buns with various fillings. Also regular selections of Chinese food. Good food, generous portions, good value. All the food was fresh and delicious highly recommend. Give them a try!

Bratz Y'all! Bistro • Bakery • Biergarten is a casual beer garden located in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans, offering traditional German food and beers. The outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying the lovely weather, playing games like cornhole, or listening to live music.
I just got the bee sting cake and their soft pretzel, but both had me in awe with how good they were. That cake is probably one of the best cakes I've ever had, insanely soft and moist with a great honey flavor that wasn't overpowering. The pretzel also slaps -- amazing crusty exterior, soft interior, perfectly and evenly salted, and tastes great (also it's bigger than my face). Best part is, it's only $4 during Happy Hour. I've really got to try their other items, but just these two non-entrees (and the really friendly staff) have made me a big fan.

Located on the Bywater area next to the 9th, sits an unassuming Biergarten surrounded by this industrial area. The setting is inviting with indoor and outdoor places that must work well in any season. Food is authentic and there’s a good selection of German beers to complement the big servings (yes!, bring your appetite). Service is pleasant and very friendly. I was delighted to see the attendant’s care towards a beautiful family’s dog and how much of this attention made this family enjoy the great food. Try their goulash, it’s a five star flavorful dish, or the chicken schnitzel, nice breaded and perfectly cooked maintaining its juiciness. A perfect place to gather with a group of friends and family.

Great place, great food and beer, friendly service. A one off/change of pace in New Orleans. The traditional German foods and beers are so good that this place is on my frequent hits for lunch or dinner. The owner is often on location and takes his quality control seriously. From appetizers to desserts this is a must for locals and tourists alike!

Oh my goodness. I don't even know where to start. What a hidden gem! We were visiting New Orleans and I was on the hunt for a dog friendly place. This restaurant popped up and I love German food, so I begged my husband to go before we left town. It's a tiny little place with several places to sit inside and picnic tables outside. I ordered the Jager schnitzel with spaetzle and cabbage and my husband had Rindergulash with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. (And a pretzel with dipping sauces) You know how when you're eating a meal, and eventually it just gets boring toward the end and you're ready to stop eating? Well, this did NOT happen. Every bite was just as delicious as the first bite! We ALMOST finished everything but had a little bit left over. The portions are generous and the flavor is just sooo sooo good! My pup agreed! (And they even gave him a dog treat for the trip home) Unfortunately shortly after leaving, our tire went completely flat on the interstate. We pulled off to an exit and proceeded to get the spare put on and eventually a new tire from the dealership. This took hours! Thankfully, our amazing lunch held us over until we got home! If you haven't been here, you should! We will definitely come again the next time we are in town!! Tschüss! We will be back soon!

i’ve been wanting to go for a while and it did not disappoint! we got the warm pretzel, a chicken schnitzel, and a bavarian brat (their most standard one) - the chicken schnitzel and the hot potato salad were the highlight for me the vibe on their patio was SO cute; it was quiet and charming when we went, but i imagine it would be a great happy hour spot too

Specifically requested to come here for my birthday last night and had a great time! This place is a gem, been coming here for years. Consistently good food, huge schnitzel plates, chill atmosphere, friendly staff. Dean Zucchero & Co. always providing good tunes. Great places for families or for a group of friends looking to Oktoberfest. So once you had your slice of pizza from Pizza D and realize you're still hungry- slide right over here :)
Tim T — Google review
This place advertises a happy hour outside and then doesn't honor it, since it's "only from Tuesday to Friday" (today is Saturday). According to the waitress it was written on there in Sharpie, which "must have come off". Check out the photo yourself. Must have been the most water soluble Sharpie ever... I suggested for them to take down the sign or actually write the conditions on there. I expected for them to apologize and let us have the offer – but none of the sort happened unfortunately.

LUVI Restaurant is a cozy spot in New Orleans that offers a unique blend of Chinese and Japanese cuisine with a modern twist, complemented by an array of cocktails. Despite its unassuming appearance, this intimate venue has garnered attention and praise since its establishment in 2018. Chef Hao Gong's expertise from his time at Sake Cafe shines through in the innovative pan-Asian menu, featuring influences from both Japanese and Chinese culinary traditions.
A perfect date night or girls night restaurant! Luvi is a colorful, petite spot with excellent food and kind service. My mom and I shared the Feed Me and each dish was fresh, light and delicious perfectly paired with the wine. After that, we shared the Spicy Dan Dan Noodles. The broth was so flavorful and warm! To finish, we tried their ice cream trio, and like the rest of the dishes, were perfectly paired and full of aromatics and flavor without being overbearingly sweet. I look forward to returning and trying more of their dishes! Whole meal no tip was about $70 per person (including alcohol)

Get the "feed me" chefs tasting menu. It is worth the price point and then some. This place is my favorite out of all the restaurants I visited in New Orleans. A genuine cozy place with flavor profiles and techniques that you can watch at the Chef's Counter. Go. Enjoy.

Truly delightful dining experience. Staff sat us despite it being very full for a weekday, they were kind and helpful. Order food I wasn’t even sure I’ve tried before, but wow. Everything was truly delicious. Maybe our new favorite spot in the city.
James C — Google review
One of my go-to spots for dumplings and sushi in NOLA! The vibe is laid-back with eye-catching decor that adds to the charm. It’s a small space, so I highly recommend making a reservation if you don’t want to wait. To start, we ordered the Paloma and lychee cocktails, both refreshing and perfectly balanced. We also tried the Monkey Snack and Stoplight rolls. If you’re into bold, complex flavor profiles, the Monkey Snack is a must. Sweet, tangy, and packed with flavor—it hits every note. The Stoplight roll brings just the right amount of heat thanks to the jalapeños, and the fish is incredibly fresh. But the real star for me? The curried dumpling broth. I seriously dream about it when I’m not in NOLA. It’s so rich and flavorful that I almost finish the broth before touching the dumplings. Absolute comfort in a bowl. The tuna rangoons weren’t my favorite, but still a solid dish. Overall, a staple spot for me anytime I’m in town. Consistently delicious with creative dishes that leave a lasting impression.

Cozy little restaurant with a 1.5-hour dining limit. The menu featured a selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes, all well-prepared. My favorite dishes were the double-fried hamachi collar and the tuna Rangoon, both of which were incredibly flavorful. A great spot for a satisfying meal with a blend of Asian flavors.

Quintessential NOLA in every way. LUVI is a gem… can’t believe it took me a couple years to try these guys. Noodles, apps, drinks everything is 5-star. Don’t sleep on these guys. Restaurant is a perfect jewel box as well.

I just brought my parents here for dinner this evening and wow, what an amazing dinner it was. The staff was above and beyond when it came to service: refilling water regularly, were enthusiastic about the dishes, and were very welcoming. The drinks and dishes were phenomenal. The cocktails were well balanced, both tasty and beyond enjoyable. For dishes we had the Monkey Snack, Stoplight, Dragon Boat, Shanghai Spring Rolls, Mala Holla, Curried Favor Dumplings, Lacy Crab Roe Potstickers, and the Vegan Lover Dumplings. We enjoyed the dishes so much that we ordered another Curried Favor Dumpling dish and an order of Dan Dan Noodles To-Go! Every dish was unique and delicious, and not a crumb was left on the plates. For dessert we each had the trio of icecream including black sesame coconut, dragonfruit, and magnolia black tea icecream. The collaboration of LUVI and Creole Creamery on this icecream was superb and the flavors were truly unmatched. And top it all off with an eclectic and intimate atmosphere...Thank you to the owner and staff for such a wonderful dining experience....we will definitely come back!

We were visiting from out of town and wanted to explore outside the CBD. After a 20 min Lyft and over $100 per person for the meal, we just felt underwhelmed. The fish just lacked flavor all around, and many small plates were odd combinations of flavors. Smashed cucumbers were sent back due to very chemically after-taste. Cabbage was the best thing we ate. I would rather go an actual sushi restaurant that values fresh, good quality fish rather than trying to cover up subpar fish with weird sauces. Service was ok.

Fritai is a popular Haitian restaurant in Treme that has gained celebrity status for its authentic and flavorful Haitian cuisine. The restaurant proudly represents the island with its vibrant decor, kompa music, and traditional dishes such as passion fruit wings, plantain sandwiches with fried pork and spicy pikliz, smothered greens, goat plates, and grilled shrimp. Fritai also offers a variety of cocktails featuring clairin, a sugarcane spirit native to Haiti.
This was such a great experience coming to New Orleans and having 🔥 Haitian 🇭🇹 food. The goat was seasoned so good, krèmas was done so right, the macaroni 🙌🏿🙏🏿, and great music & service. We really enjoyed ourselves.

The greeting and atmosphere were inviting. The food was amazing. We waited a reasonable timeframe for our food, as the fritay was made to order. I rate Fritai as 9.5/10. Nothing negative worth mentioning. This was a pleasant experience enjoying Haitian food.

Went yesterday. The only reason that I’m giving four stars for food is because they only had white rice and I was really looking forward to the Haitian black rice. We had legume, griot, accra fritters, fried green plantain, and kremas. That kremas was 🔥! The pikliz that they serve with the accra was a little sweet and less spicy (right up my alley). Food and service on point!

This was the first time we experienced authentic Haitian food and it was an experience to remember! Sides like deviled eggs, mac and cheese, and gravy fries complete the experience.
Heard about Frady’s on street food so was a must stop during our trip. Friendly staff and po boys were really good. We got the shrimp tasted fresh and we got the potato with the roast beef and gravy. Gravy and roast beef had great flavor and I love that the fries were fresh cut.

Had the 1/2 shrimp po-boy from here. It was pretty decently sized even at 1/2 and well-priced ($12 after tax). The shrimp was well-breaded and very fresh, really juicy and tender. I wish it had more seasoning though to give it something extra, it was pretty plain. The cook is really friendly, the po-boy was pretty good, so even though it didn't blow me away, those two things alone would make me come back and try their other offerings.

Absolutely delicious Po-Boys! We ordered the Shrimp, Meatball and Roast Beef Po-Boys and wow do they have the right balance with flavours! The ingredients were super tasty and really fresh and the batter (in particular) on the shrimp was perfect - not too much. And it’s not just the food that’s awesome here, so are the staff. Without a doubt some of the friendliest people we met in New Orleans. I only wish we’d stopped by sooner, as we would have revisited it again during our trip!

Great funky little hole in the wall place. People come for the poboys, and they are very good, but the secret is the bread pudding. Made in-house, cheap and fantastic...the best in NOLA.

Awesome local spot for po-boys. Take to go or eat at tables right outside. The half lo-boy on French is huge, (what I’d call a full sandwich). We asked for a recommendation on what to order, and shrimp and Louisiana sausage po-boys were both delicious

The Court of Two Sisters is a legendary restaurant located in New Orleans, offering a daily jazz brunch with a buffet of Creole classics and à la carte dinner. The historic courtyard at this two-centuries-old restaurant is famous for its beautiful wisteria-blanketed setting and soothing fountains. It's known for serving traditional New Orleans recipes for brunch and dinner both indoors and outdoors.
Jazz Brunch on a slow summer Monday. Great food. Great waiter service for drinks and order/delivering omeletts. Priced at $36, there was a great selection on the buffet. Water is free but juice is $3.00 per glass. Alcoholic beverages are priced accordingly with a great selection at the bar and a huge drink menu. Norton was our main waiter, and he had a partner assist with water refills and clearing of plates. The outdoor garden terrace seating was wonderful even on a hot August day. The 3pc Jazz band was a nice touch that provided a wonderful music backdrop. Made to order omlette or eggs benedict waa a fan favorite of our table. All staff were pleasant and attentive at every touch point. Parking in the quarter is always exhausting. But it is the FQ. We parked at the closest lot and it was $31 for 2 hrs on a Monday morning. Would I return again? Probably not. But I checked it off my list of places to eat. Would I recommend to friends? Absolutely. Was everything perfect? Pretty dang close. My only beef was the upcharge on the juice, but $3 is still reasonable. There is a 3.75% convenience fee for using a credit card instead of cash. Thank you CO2S's for a great friends breakfast to wrap up our wedding weekend as our families went their seperate ways.

We chose the Court of Two Sisters for one of our few treasured meals during our brief two-day stay in New Orleans over Memorial Day 2025. The restaurant caught our attention for its rich history and the fascinating story behind the building, as well as the opportunity to sample a wide variety of New Orleans cuisine thanks to the buffet-style setup. In the end, we found ourselves appreciating the ambiance, history, and warm hospitality even more than the food. The buffet fare was good, but it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. That said, we’re still glad we had the experience—it’s a beautiful venue with undeniable charm. Next time, we hope to return for dinner and order from the à la carte menu in hopes of a more memorable meal. If you're a foodie who enjoys historic dining spots, it’s definitely worth a try.

Definitely recommend. Food was amazingly delicious. All the staff were personable, friendly and helpful. It's upscale buffet style with a great options and outdoor dining on the brick patio. Everything was amazing. But I recommend Definitely putting the curry chicken on the plate and definitely try the banana foster for dessert, you won't be disappointed.

Really cool restaurant with rich history and a beautiful ambience! Service and staff were really kind and attentive. However, the food was such a disappointment. We went for early brunch (before 11am) and it just seemed like a glorified continental breakfast spread. Very carb-heavy with a few special meats at the end, such as fish, veal, and duck, which was pretty overcooked and dry. This was accompanied by a basic selection of cut fruits, and a whole section of raw ingredients for a salad bar - not the spread we expected for the price. Not worth the brunch buffet price at all. However, it may serve as a good spot to stop by in the evening with the overhanging lights on and a better selection from the a la carte menu! I would recommend sitting outside, indoor seating looks like an old diner - nothing special.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Try New Orleans Brunch Experience! We absolutely loved our brunch at The Court of Two Sisters! The buffet is the best way to experience all the classic New Orleans flavors in one sitting—Jambalaya, Gumbo, Red Beans & Rice, Étouffée, and Banana Foster were all incredible. We dined in the beautiful courtyard under the vines while a live jazz band played in the background—such a perfect New Orleans vibe. Our server was top-notch, attentive, and friendly throughout. If you’re visiting New Orleans and want to truly taste New Orleans, this is the place to go.

Antoine's Restaurant, a historic establishment that first opened its doors in 1840, has retained much of its original charm and elegance over the past two centuries. This iconic dining destination in New Orleans offers a taste of old-world French-Creole cuisine and is renowned as the birthplace of the famous Oysters Rockefeller.
What a fantastic dining experience tonight! A big thank you to our server Chuck and his assistant Cal for their amazing service. It was such a pleasure to meet Chef Skeeter and to have him and Chuck sign our cookbook! The food was outstanding. The best oysters around. I recommend the 2-2-2 so you can try them all! My wife and I went here while on our honeymoon. I cannot recall the name of our waiter, but he was exceptional. He told us of the history of the restaurant, made great recommendations, and made sure our water glasses were always full. My wife loved her pan seared crab cake dish (below) and we also enjoyed the desserts we shared. My mom went here in the 70s with my grandparents and her brother and told us the food was excellent back then, too. She even has a copy of the paper menus that were entirely in French! Thanks Antoine’s.

What an amazing experience we had! I can’t stop thinking about everything from the history of the building, our amazing service from the dynamic father and daughter team, Murphy and Megan and the food. We came for brunch and had a private room for our large party. We had bottomless mimosas that were made with GOOD French bubbles and never once had to ask for a refill. I had the gumbo and Redfish Amandine. I’m still thinking about it. Every single of or us enjoyed our meals but more so the entire dining experience and stores we were told about the history of the place. I will a million % come back next time I’m in New Orleans!

The restaurants claim to fame is being the founding father of the Oysters Rockefeller. There second claim to fame is being the oldest restaurant in Louisiana. The service provided, was done at a level where you thought you needed to wear a 3-piece suit to dine (most of us had just a shirt, no jacket, and slacks). The ambience is one of a fine dining establishment, with beautiful chandeliers above each table. The food was also expertly prepared, and delicious. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fine dining experience in the French Quarters area of New Orleans.

Everything about this restaurant was 10/10 down to the food, drinks, servers, and atmosphere. Our waiter Myles was amazing and made the whole experience one of the best parts of our bachelorette trip. He knew that menu front to back and had the best recommendations when struggling between all the good looking choices. Kyle was also amazing and always checked to see if our table was good or needed anything. I was surprised to see how many Dining room options they had and did not expect this restaurant to be as beautiful as it was. Online photos don’t do it justice. The historical look just gave it the Nola feeling we were looking for. Would recommend this place every time.

From the moment my party of 8 arrived till the meal ended, we were always greeted with great friendly service. We dined in one of the smaller back rooms which was not as lively as the larger front rooms. Food was delicious. Started with 2 of 2 for the charbroiled oyster sampler. Then went with the fillet Oscar which was very tasty and cooked perfectly. Wife had the grilled frut de mare and all was cooked to her liking. The bone-in veal chops were enjoyed by two in our party and said they were awesome. The herbed chicken was also enjoyed by others at the table. Service was friendly and attentive. The decor was very cool.

I am glad to say that I have finally gotten to experience the historic Antoine's restaurant. Unfortunately, some of the finer details were lacking. The gumbo was outstanding, and so was the bread pudding dessert. Our server was prompt, friendly, and took care of everything we needed in a timely and accurate manner. I took a star away for the atmosphere simply because the rooms are large and loud, though we could still carry on a conversation. For the price point of the food, I would have expected a little more. The flavors were on point, but my fish was overcooked, and my husband's lobster dish was exceptionally rich (unbalanced). Some real boosts to the experience would be more comfortable chairs, better food presentation, and a fairer price point for the food.
Stefanie D — Google review
Antoine’s served the absolute best Espresso Mocktini! My husband and I both got the dinner special which included three courses. The food was delicious but the Tarte Au Peche and Florida Key Like Pie desserts really stole the whole show. Darla was a sweet and attentive server. I would absolutely go again when visiting New Orleans.

Southern restaurant (US)
Cochon Restaurant is a highly acclaimed dining spot located in the Warehouse District of New Orleans. The restaurant, led by chef co-owner Stephen Stryjewski and partner Donald Link, pays homage to old-style Cajun Boucherie with its focus on pork dishes and imaginative Cajun cuisine.
My husband and I first dined at Cochon several years ago, and I’ll admit I was a little hesitant to return since I no longer eat pork or beef. But just like our first visit, the restaurant did not disappoint. The food is exactly as I remembered—well seasoned, flavorful, and simply delicious. We ordered a wide range of dishes to share, and every plate delivered. The meal began with complimentary warm rolls and butter, followed by okra and stewed tomatoes (oh my gosh—yum!) and peaches with cured pork belly. From the wood fire, the Gulf fish (red snapper) was perfectly cooked, and the oysters with chili butter were rich and indulgent. The cucumber and herbs salad leaned vinegar-forward, which I loved for its brightness. At the table, others enjoyed the grilled pork neck, macaroni and cheese, chicken and andouille sausage, green beans, and grilled sirloin with potatoes. Even with my dietary restrictions, I found plenty of satisfying options. Dessert was a smorgasbord worth mentioning on its own: watermelon sorbet, banana pudding, pineapple upside-down cake, apple pie, and the standout—a miniature loaf of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Each sweet treat felt like the perfect ending to an already memorable meal. Cochon remains one of those restaurants that stays true to its roots while delivering consistent quality. Whether it’s your first time or a return visit, it’s a dining experience worth savoring.

Great meal! Wood fired oven adds a subtle smoky flavor to the food. We had wood fired oysters ( gluten free) catfish courtbouillon ( gluten free), tomatoes and okra ( gluten free) and beef brisket. Everything was excellent. I appreciate that they listed all their gluten free items on a separate menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and our server was great.

We came here for a quick pit stop and because we wanted to try the alligator. We ordered a glass of beer, dumbo, and of course alligator. Both appetizers were really good. The dumbo could be better but still very good. But the alligator, wow, it’s superb. It’s our first time having an alligator meat, but if you told me it was chicken or pork or duck, we would believe you. It was tender, not too chewy, almost like chicken thigh consistency and it didn’t smell fishy at all. In fact the combo with the mint leaves and parsley and onion and spicy mayo made it all taste excellent. When the waiter said it’s one of the best in the city, we didn’t doubt that. The place is huge and very cold. Maybe for a hot summer day it could be a refuge, but today it was a bit raining and temp wasn’t too warm. Service was very friendly, even though we told our waiter we were there just for a pit stop. Clean place and good space between tables. So highly recommend this place.

My Fiance and I were in Nola for a work event. A co-worker had looked up the best place to eat in New Orleans. Cochon was at the top of the list. It's hard to put in words, how good everything was. Jesse (sorry Jesse if I got the wrong spelling!) was our server, and he knew the menu like he wrote it. We ended up ordering most of what he recommended. Everything was fantastic, so much so, that we went back the next night. It was just as incredible and did not disappoint. Highly recommend going to New Orleans just for this restaurant.

We went here thinking it was cochon butchery. When we told the server the menu was different we were brushed off and told the menu changes a lot. After ordering drinks we realized our mistake. We tried to make the best of it but we didnt see a single main course we'd like to try. We ended up ordering alligator bites and gumbo. Both were delicious but, again, we were disappointed because we thought we'd be ordering differently. While waiting for our appetizers we saw 2 other groups come in and leave because they made the same mistake we did. The table next to us also reluctantly ordered food. After spending $40 we were disappointed in our experience. Don't make our mistake. Keep going down the block 50 yards to cochon butchery. (We did end up there and had a much better experience).

very mid overall. food was a hit or miss, service just okay, atmosphere strange none of the decor seemed to match at all lol. food: salmon dish was EXTREMELY tiny go to a sushi place instead they’ll charge u the same amount for way more. seasoning on it was good but the greens on it had WAYYY too much vinaigrette. the muffaletta was decent

The service…Nick W was our waiter and was phenomenal in all ways. Kind spirited and seemingly enjoyed his job! He made our dining experience incredible! The food…we had rabbit n dumplings, smothered Lima beans, shrimp stew, and pan-seared grouper with a beer and old-fashion. Every. Single. Thing. sat in front of us was delicious. 10/10 recommend!

If you’re into early dinners reservations are not so much needed here but the place was filling up quickly as we prepared to leave. Their cocktails were very well received by my wife while I decided to stay close to my tried and true Long Island Iced Tea’s (7.5 out of 10 for smoothness and effectiveness). We started with a 30 day cares ham with figs which was fantastic smooth flavor and the only kick was the sprinkled sea salt sprinkled on top. From there we moved onto rabbit and dumplings which were phenomenal along with their bacon broiled green beans which were tasty and worth it. Then over to Mac and cheese which is a hard decision as my wife and I save carbs for our alcohol but well worth all of the flavor they came with. The service was fantastic and our waiter had a bidder who complemented him very well. We always had water and attention as we needed.

Seafood restaurant
Tableau by Dickie Brennan & Co. is a classic French-Creole restaurant located in a 3-story townhouse with an open kitchen and balcony. Chef Ben Thibodeaux carefully crafts the menu, incorporating historical components of Creole cuisine to create authentic dishes. The restaurant offers various dining ambiances, including a courtyard, main dining room, drawing-room lounge, and balcony overlooking Jackson Square.
This restaurant offers a refined dining experience—from the crisp cloth napkins placed gently on your lap to the white tablecloths, fresh silverware with each course, and attentive staff in uniform and ties. A local warned us the service might disappoint, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. We started with flash-fried Brussels sprouts that were perfectly seasoned and crisp. My son ordered a breakfast dish he raved about, while I had a fresh salad topped with generous lump crab meat. My husband enjoyed pork and grits, which came in a hearty portion—much larger than our meals, which were on the smaller side. Their mocktail menu was a delightful surprise, the Bloody Mary was spicy and undrinkable and we ended our meal with dessert sorbet and upside down blueberry dessert. Every detail was well thought out, right down to the filtered water, which was noticeably clean and refreshing. Service was impeccable throughout. While portions vary and the price is around $50 per person, the experience felt worth it. I’d absolutely recommend it.

Our waitress Ashleigh was amazing. Super attentive and answered all our questions. Didn’t rush us at all either. We got the ribeye special and it was the best steak I’ve had. The creme brûlée is huge and easily shareable! Highly recommend!

Absolutely exquisite experience. We had a reservation for the Jazz Brunch. The space is gorgeous, and a jazz trio was playing live music. Delightful! Our table had a view of the courtyard and the open kitchen. Our server, Meg, was incredible. So professional and a real sweetheart! Honestly, the whole staff was terrific and seemed like a family. We each had a cocktail. My friend ordered the Just As Well, I got a Bloody Mary. Both were exceptional. We started with the Blue Crab Fondue. This was a stunner- creamy, crabby heaven. I had the Maison Salad and fell in love with the dressing. So delicious! I also had the Creole French Onion Soup, which was fantastic. My friend loved his Gulf Fish Sandwich. I tried the fries- handout (my favorite) and perfectly salted. We had planned to order dessert, but we were so full. No worries as it is something to look forward to on my next visit.

Five Stars for Tableau – and for James! We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Tableau in New Orleans for my birthday, and let me tell you, it was unforgettable. From the moment we were seated, our server James made us feel like we were being welcomed into a warm, elegant family home. His service struck the perfect balance of professional and personable: attentive without hovering, funny without overstepping, and somehow managing to anticipate our needs before we even knew we had them. Between the three of us, we sampled three appetizers, a soup, a salad, two entrées, and two desserts and James guided us through it all with ease, making great recommendations and making us feel like VIPs every step of the way. The food was absolutely delicious, but the real standout of the night was James. His energy and care elevated the entire experience and made it the highlight of my birthday trip to New Orleans. If you’re visiting the city and want a meal that feels special from start to finish, Tableau is the place — and if you’re lucky enough to get James as your server, you’re in for something truly exceptional.

I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant with my husband, daughter, and her boyfriend and we had an amazing time! To start, the hostess, Rashari, was friendly, kind, and courteous. While she was prepping to show us to our table, she acknowledged the next group that came in. (I hate when I arrive at an establishment and I am ignored. At least let me know you see me. Even if you dont seat me!) Anyway, she was great! She showed us to our seats and informed us that our waitress will be with us shortly. While we briefly waited for our waitress to arrive, I noticed the beautiful decor, the soft lighting, and the peaceful music Playlist that played in the background. It was a beautiful setting. Jessica, our waitress, came over and gave us the menu storyline! Her story telling was so, she swayed what we originally wanted to order! I have pictures to show our final choices. Jessica was funny, attentive, and personally, I think she was a mind reader! When we had a need, she just showed up with it! Amazing isn't a big enough word to describe her! She made our visit such a wonderful experience I look forward to a future visit! Ok, now let's talk about the food. The stars of the evening were the entrees. Although we ordered different dishes, we tried each other's dish and the top runners were my redfish (Gulf fish Almondine) and my husband's steak (Brandy Cream Coulotte)! The steak was so good his eyes seem to roll behind his head with ecstasy! My fish was satisfying and seasoned to perfection! We had two desserts, but my favorite was the Blueberry Upside-down Financier! Everything was great! A little warning, the website menu and what are in my pics do not match. We learned that the items will change seasonally, so have an open mind when you arrive and the menu is different from what you may see online.

It's in a great location off of Jackson Square. We stopped in for a quick lunch, had the gumbo and grilled shrimp. The gumbo was first rate, not my favorite of the trip but close. The grilled shrimp were also good.
Joshua R — Google review
To my surprise, the staff kindly accommodated my request to be seated on the balcony, even though the restaurant was quite busy that evening. I really appreciated that extra effort, especially as I was dining alone and sitting at a table in a prime location it made the experience feel very welcoming. I ordered the shrimp and grits with no sausage with a side of lump crab meat, and while everything was beautifully presented and rich in flavour, I realized afterward that I probably should have paired it with something acidic, like a light salad, to balance the richness. I also don’t drink wine anymore, which I suspect would have complemented the dish very nicely. The only minor complaint I have is that, while the shrimp were large and visually stunning, they had a slightly off flavor. Other than that, it was a wonderful meal and overall a great experience. I’d happily return and recommend it to others.

Nestled on the charming Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans' historic French Quarter, Port of Call has been a beloved dining spot since 1963. This vibrant steakhouse is renowned for its mouthwatering half-pound hamburgers and massive baked potatoes, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists. The inviting atmosphere draws you in with the promise of hearty American cuisine, where you can indulge in fully dressed burgers topped with your choice of cheese, mushrooms, or bacon.
If you’re in New Orleans and craving a burger, look no further than Port of Call. Their cheeseburger is perfection and legendary. Paired with their signature baked potato, it’s a meal that feels both comforting and unique to New Orleans. The laid back, cozy atmosphere makes Port of Call full of character, with staff who make you feel at home. This is not just one of the best burgers in New Orleans...it’s one of the best I’ve had anywhere.

The food was ok and the meat could have had a bit more flavor, The beer was nice and cheap, it was a dark atmosphere with candles lit, staff was friendly but didn't smile much. Baked potatoes could be better if real bacon bits were on the potatoes and not the dried ones. Recommend by relative. Will try again if in town.

If you come 20 min wait and wait for food is maybe 30 also . We have been drinking waiting if I have the monsoon be ready to get drunk I was waiting for food still and I’m feeling wooozy. But it’s small restaurant that’s why it’s wait. You can wait outside she will cal you. Ok so we ate! I ordered the burger and baked potatoe. So the burger had a Smokey flavor . Is all no seasoning no salt no pepper just a smoke flavor. For one who eat burgers all the time that practically awesome mmm it’s just plain. Should have put some a1 steak sauce or something. But they are big and thick. But relatively small size. Potato is big also very good. Should had a steak but as I read on reviews they say about the same. And if u have the monsoon no smoking a cigarette you might start a fire . It’s strong so strong . I drank a 1/4 of it and I got drunk but then again I had not ate anything before that . So yes this is my review I’m pretty picky about my burger I like run down old place who knows how to make pretty yummy Burgers then to go because everyone says so. But we had two people say this place had great burgers ! So we did mmmm it was ok minus the wait yah not worth for 50$ for two people yah! There is no parking unless you are staying close by or walking distance. We walked to the majority of our vacation.

If you want really good drinks and a good vibe, I recommend this place. The only downfall is that this place is very small and does not fit a lot of people. Good burgers, nothing to special. I wish the loaded potatoes had real bacon

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible! Hands down the best burger I’ve had in a long time—juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The loaded baked potato was the perfect side, hearty and delicious. And if you go, you have to try Neptune’s Monsoon—it's a must! Great vibes, great food, definitely worth the visit!

Just a cool local divey spot with great Naval decor all over. Menu is super limited (which i love because it means they know what they are good at ) of just steaks and burgers. Burgers come with a baked potato which you can customize, and they know how to make a proper Bloody Mary.

Recommended by friends, this was my first stop when I visited NOLA. Certainly enjoyed my meal and the ambiance. The burger was humongous and flavorful and I got the baked potato loaded with bacon. Definitely satisfied my hunger cravings and this place is a check ✔️

Great food. It's very basic burger but good. Brings back some core memories of eating burgers from the grill. The baked potato was good also. Only downfall was our waiter, E, was kinda rude. Got mushrooms on my wife's burger and she didn't ask for it. They gave her the correct one but we still got charged for the mushrooms. Anyhow, other then the server we loved it !! I cant wait to try it next time we are in town.

Shaya is a vibrant and trendy restaurant known for its modern Israeli cuisine, cocktails, and beer. Although Chef Alon Shaya is no longer associated with the establishment, his influence is still evident in the menu's rave-worthy dishes like Baba Ganoush and Lamb Ragu Hummus. The eatery offers a warm dining experience inspired by Chef Alon's Israeli heritage, showcasing a fusion of flavors from various regions.
I came here with no expectations. Just wanted to try something different during Restaurant Week. My party, however, had high expectations since they heard good things about the food. Well, I can honestly say I was very impressed! The food was top level, as was the service. Both the Tahini Hummus and the Fried Chicken Hummus are worth coming here! Served with hot and fresh pitas. The taste of our Demi Fattoush salads was exquisite. I had the Lamb Shoulder. It was very tender and delicious. My wife had the Shakshuka, which had a crazy good sauce with whole tomatoes that burst in your mouth full of flavor. I loved my Chocolate Tahini Mousse! Glad we came here.

Good food but not outstanding. Very typical Mediterranean restaurant. (The interior is pretty simple, might have imagined it to be more flamboyant?) The hummus was good, the slow roasted lamb was juicy and tender. The pita bread was freshly baked and olive oil with sesame was good. The main dining hall was VERY LOUD and we requested to change table to the patio where it was better, not too hot coz of the fans.
Ansuman — Google review
Such a fantastic place. The appetizers (Salatim) and small plates were so good we never got to the (mains) large plates. We had te babaganusg, pickles, humus with tahini and with mushrooms, the muhamara, ikra, Israeli salad, pide, and kufta. Their pitas are baked on site and served fresh out of the taboun. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie and labneh cheesecake weeks both plates were locked clean. Staff are fast and attentive, but not intrusive. The patio was very nice but the fans were a little loud and the background music read a little too quiet. This didn't take away from our overall enjoyment.

The food was so good. We went for happy hour and the half price wine and hummus was a great call. Really enjoyed. The Halumi and fired chicken hummus. Recommend to sit in the back courtyard Because the front room gets loud.

One word, yes! This is a must when you are in New Orleans. Fried chicken hummus ✅️ baba ganoush ✅️ pita ✅️ lamb shank ✅️ falafel ✅️. We would eat here frequently if we were locals. Delicious food, great service, and lovely atmosphere. We cannot recommend this place enough. Hayden was our server. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and patient as we decided what to eat. Definitely check Shaya out.

My brother and I went here on a road trip. I do suggest making a reservation. We did and it went well. The staff, food, and atmosphere are top-notch! This is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at! I still dream about the food we ate there. The lamb ragu hummus was divine. It was full of flavor, creamy, and we savored every single bite. The crispy halloumi was fantastic with fried cheese and marmalade with nuts... out of this world great! The sujuk pide was incredible and when you got a bite with tomato it sent my taste buds fluttering. I would go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat! And I highly recommend it to anyone! If you're in New Orleans you need to go here and experience this masterpiece of food for yourself. Parking is a bit challenging so leave plenty of time to park with your reservation. We parked a block and a half away on the street. My recommendation if you try this place is to get the plates/food to share so you can experience more items and try multiple things. Out of our entire road trip from Minnesota this was one of our favorite places to eat. Thank you for taking the time to read my recommendation.

This has been one of the best food experiences we've ever had, if not the best. We went to Shaya because we watched an episode from the show Somebody Feed Phil. The pita bread comes directly from the brick oven, hot, soft, delicious. The satamis are just out of this world and they go perfectly with the bread. The Israeli salad is amazing with super fresh ingredients. The waitress who served us was the best! The atmosphere is relaxing and minimalistic. I wish I could have a restaurant like this on my area.

Brunch restaurant
Atchafalaya, located in the Irish Channel of New Orleans, is a charming restaurant offering a blend of upscale and homey cooking. With a history dating back almost a century, the current owners have transformed it into an elegant venue serving rustic New Orleanian cuisine. Open for brunch and dinner throughout the week, Atchafalaya's brunch is particularly renowned for its inventive contemporary creole dishes.
The establishment itself is very quaint. Once you enter it has a warm, welcoming ambiance that is comfortable, artistic, and calming. The candle light mixed with the elegant table sets are amazing. Add to that the intricate placement of different dining areas. The food was amazing, we tried the Shrimp and Grits along with the Castella Family chicken. We had the corn & crab bisque soup for the starter. All of the food was delicious and well-prepared. I saw earlier reviews of bad customer service. This was NOT the case for us! The gentleman that welcomed us was kind! The hostess was kind as she seated us! And our service person (Clay) was knowledgeable, considerate, kind, fast, efficient, and thoughtful. We never had to ask for refills, he recommended awesome options. The service was 5-star quality. This is a must try stop for anyone in New Orleans!

Atchafalaya was our very first stop in New Orleans. We went straight from the airport, and my only regret is not making a return trip before we left town. This place set the culinary bar high for the rest of our trip! I loved that it’s tucked away from the downtown bustle; it felt like a true neighborhood gem. The gumbo and the shrimp and grits were both hands down the best versions of those dishes we had anywhere in the city. The service was world-class: warm, attentive, and perfectly paced. An absolute must-visit that lives up to the hype! We’ll be back next time we’re in NOLA.

My wife and I walked in for Sunday brunch. We did not have a reservation. It was early afternoon so the wait was not long. We sat at the bar with Ryan and had one of the best brunch experiences in quite some time. The cocktail/wine menu is top notch. Ryan is the bar manager as well, so he curated and created the cocktails on the menu. We had a Good Morning Vietnam bloody mary, a Spanish g & t, and a bubbles and butter. All of them well balanced and delicious. For food we went with Ryan's suggestions of shrimp and grits and the duck hash....so good! I had a cup of gumbo as well, also excellent. We topped off the decadence with a blue cheese panna cotta, don't let the blue cheese scare you, it was ridiculous. We were visiting from AZ but will be back for sure! Highly highly recommend. Oh! One of the very patient and lovely staff crafted a perfect traditional macchiato for me as well :) above and beyond

We arrived for our Saturday brunch reservation about an hour early after a 5 hour drive from Birmingham, AL. When we checked in, we were offered a table at the bar if we didn't want to wait for a dining room table to open. We were seated in about 15 minutes. The service was great from the minute we walked in the door! After doing a little research on Atchafalaya, I realized that the owner Rachael was from Bolton, MA which boarders the small town of Clinton, MA where I grew up. When she stopped by our table to check on us, we had a great conversation about our home towns. She was very friendly. I ordered Tuscan eggs and my wife ordered the special of the day which was a breakfast Quiche and a side of cream cheese grits. We also ordered a boudin sausage to split. For drinks, we ordered a bubbles & butter and a espresso martini. We also ordered a tres leches bread pudding to take back to the hotel after brunch. The food was "out of this world" delicious and very memorable! The boudin was the best I've had. Atchafalaya will be a "must eat there" stop for us every time we return to New Orleans!

This hidden gem offers a delectable selection of freshly baked goods, including plain, sweet, and savory croissants filled with delightful ingredients like chocolate and ham and cheese. The display case showcases an array of must-try treats such as Napoleon pastries, tiramisu, tarts, and tortes.
The most Eggcellent breakfast I’ve had in New Orleans. Seriously, the Croque madame was INCREDIBLE. My buddies loved the avocado toast and the croissant sandwich. Coffee was fantastic and we ordered pastries Togo. So glad we came upon this little gem!

Meh. Was hoping to find a great French Patisserie in the French Quarter. Instead we found this place. It was mostly just good, not bad and definitely not great. Easy walk from the French Market and Jackson Square. Tried a half dozen or so of the pastries as well as the Spinach Quiche. The quiche was pretty good, and a nice flaky crust. Good flavor but the microwaving to heat it up gave it a slightly rubbery texture. The laminated pastries though, ugh. VERY bready! Whoever was handling their lamination definitely needs to go somewhere and learn proper lamination. Anything with laminated dough was all the same, bad to mediocre. You can see from the pictures that the Croissants look like something you get from a can made by Pillsbury. The Apple filled croissant tasted like the filling was straight from a can. They had some really cute pastries and cakes they call "animals" that we didn't try. The star of the show was the Tarte au Citron (Lemon Tart). The tart shell was good a flaky. The lemon filling was excellent. The meringue was tasty and piped well. Just a little over torched which gave it a slightly bitter taste. Overall a very good lemon tart and I would order it again. The atmosphere was wonderful and they had a fantastic courtyard. Most of the service was very good. The biggest complaint, and reason for only 2 stars on service was the lady at the register. Didn't greet us and seemed bored and could care less. Did not help with recommendations and was uninterested in answering any questions. Sorry to be a bother ma'am. We'll just go elsewhere next time. Would I recommend? Hmmm. If you are going for croissants or laminated pastry or the highest quality of pastry, no, I would not recommend. If you are looking for a place close to the French Quarter and nice atmosphere but food quality and service don't matter then yes, I would recommend.

I was recommended this place from my high school French teacher and needless to say it definitely did not disappoint. The atmosphere is just what I envisioned a little patisserie in France to be like. They have a nice little menu for breakfast/brunch as well as PLENTY of pastries from their cases. I got a croque Madame, a fruit tart, and a mocha and loved every bit of everything. My dad got a ham, egg, and cheese croissant and he enjoyed that as well. I can’t wait to go back next time I’m in New Orleans!

Amazing food and cocktails. Such a good vibe in the restaurant, too. We had the hush puppies, pigs ears, papaya salad, pork belly, goat curry and fried chicken. Everything was so good. The pork belly was one of my favorites, and the goat curry was so unique and delicious. The dip with the pigs ears was unique and a tasty snack, and the hush puppies and aioli was a fan fave with our daughter. My husband and I tried four different cocktails over dinner too, and they were all amazing. You won’t go wrong with anything you pick here!

My husband and I tried the COOLinary experience and it was phenomenal. Drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts were each so good. We ranked the overall experience a 9.5/10 ONLY because the guava rum cake was a bit dry. Prawns were immensely flavorful and perfect. Even got a hot towel afterwards to cleanse my hands. Tuna tartare had flavors that meshed wonderfully with the produce and seasonings. My snapper with the pepper pot was amazing - skin had that crispy exterior and vegetables complimented well. The mango in the creme brûlée shined through and I savored every bite with the berries, mint and coconut sugar on top. Flavor and service: 10000/10

Compère Lapin absolutely delivered one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The bartender Ty, set the tone she was engaging, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what she does. She recommended the pig ears, pork belly, and snapper, and every single dish was phenomenal. The snapper in particular was on another level perfectly cooked, beautifully balanced flavors, and honestly one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted. She also mixed an anejo Old Fashioned that was absolute perfection smooth, complex, and dangerously easy to enjoy. Just when I thought the night couldn’t get better, she convinced me to try the bread pudding. Let’s just say it was so good it practically put me to bed. Between the stellar service, the incredible food, and the relaxed but refined atmosphere, Compère Lapin has set a new bar for me. Can’t recommend it highly enough sit at the bar with Ty and you’ll have a great experience

We visited Compère Lapin during our summer travels to New Orleans. The restaurant delivered a memorable dining experience with bold and unique flavors. The seasoning of the dishes is what stood out to me the most—clearly a kitchen that’s not afraid of flavor. The buttermilk biscuits were a highlight. Another standout dish was the gulf fish. It tasted fresh, and the flavors were beautifully balanced. Service was attentive and well-paced, and the space itself feels relaxed but thoughtfully designed. A great stop if you’re looking for something unique and well-executed in New Orleans.

I had a wonderful culinary experience at Compère Lapin. Coolinary prices were still on despite August ending. The food was flavourful, the service exceptional, and the ambience lovely. My first course, pork belly in tamarind sauce, was delightful. The second, semolina dumplings with shrimp, wasn’t to my taste, but the waiter noticed immediately and graciously swapped it for a snapper dish that was absolutely delectable. For dessert, I was treated to both a bread pudding with apple curd and banana, and the Chef’s special dessert, which included a sorbet, that was very fresh, balanced, and delicious. The thoughtful service, creative dishes, and a photo with Chef Nina Compton made the evening truly memorable.

The service was kind, but overall the experience fell flat compared to our expectations. The appetizers started weak and never really picked up—the biscuits were dry, and the tartare lacked citrus while being paired with an odd curried watermelon. The salad was off as well, though the mint did add a refreshing touch (it could’ve used more crispy shallots). Entrées took a while to arrive but the braised goat was the highlight with a nice balance of sweetness from the gnocchi, but the fish was one-note—semi-crispy skin without any standout flavors. Overall, some bright spots, but not a memorable meal. Won’t be back

I had the 3 course pre fix meal which came with pork belly, fried chicken and a mango creme brulee. I had a cocktail and mocktail as well. The food was delicious and incredibly filling. The vibe was decent but the staff were a bit terse.

Came here with friends to celebrate our college reunion! Good: - The dishes were all unique - I liked the fried catfish and the pork belly was really savory and the cornbread was much better with the sweet and savory butters - The ambiance was nice, it was very dark and hard to see inside Bad: - Pretty expensive and each dish is a little small - It takes forever for the dishes to come out and hard to wave down the staff, even though we already told them that we were in a rush Overall this place was a fancy upscale place and the fanciest that we went to during the trip, but also it was a bit too pricey to go again

Toups Meatery is a rustic restaurant located in Mid-City, offering a carnivore-friendly menu of Cajun dishes and cocktail pitchers. The owner, Isaac Toups, brings his decade of fine dining kitchen experience to create a blend of old Cajun favorites like boudin and cracklins with more refined modern fare such as lambs neck paired with black-eyed peas. This meat-forward eatery pays homage to Louisiana traditions while offering an enlightened approach to Cajun cuisine.
We had a great time at Toup's! The drinks were delicious and well-balanced, our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. I took his recommendation and had the Pork Chop and it was phenomenal! My husband had the Venison and it was also spectacular! We also shared The Meatery Board for a starter and were very impressed by the variety of flavors and textures. This spot is definitely worth indulging in!

We were celebrating a birthday and had heard so much about the restaurant so decided to make a reservation to try it out. Overall food was decent, a bit pricey for the casual atmosphere, but the service was not good. We ordered the cheese board, the shrimp and grits, the burger and the fish and egg. The burger was good with a good portion size and flavor. It was served with chips which were so salty that were inedible. We ordered a side of fingerling potatoes which were better. The shrimp and grits was also a good portion size and had a good sauce but everything kind of blended together so you couldn’t really tell where everything was. The cheese board was average, smaller pieces and there are better selections at other locations. The fish dish was good. Overall the food and portion size plus flavor was good but the prices were high and the service was not good.

This place never disappoints. We come every time we are in NOLA. The dishes are fantastic, and the staff is great. Highly recommend the lamb neck. (it is a generous portion). The chicken thigh dish is amazing!! Must try!

We had a fabulous anniversary dinner at Toups Meatry. The quality of the food was outstanding! Chef Isaac Toups and his staff we so welcoming. My husband and I would highly recommend this restaurant and we look forward to coming back.

Started with the marinated crab claws and Irish coffees which were amazing! Different take with the marinated crab claws, not the typical butter spice. Very savory and pickled marinade. Awesome. Venison with fried eggs and biscuits/gravy and fried catfish served over perfect collard greens with two poached eggs cover with a tiny sauce that complimented the collard greens and fish perfectly! Don't skip this laid back, delicious eatery!

CUCUMBER SALAD: This was tasty. It definitely had those pickle-sour flavors, and it was vinegary, too. I love the sesame seeds on top. I feel they would be best thin-sliced and soaked overnight for that softness. CRACKLING’S: 1-inch-cut pork belly cracklins fried with thunder-dust seasoning, Busssn! Pork lovers must have these! They were crispy, with that succulent fatty edge. They were not salty, but they were like large cracklin chips. COUVILLION: This stew dish included a fish filet, shrimp, and crawfish in a brick roux, along with a side of crab-fat rice. The Cajun and Creole met in the middle of my tongue and danced to Jazz. PORK CHOP: This double-cut monster was one of the best chops ever. It was the size of a baby's head! Large yet so juicy and tender—so much so that as I went to slice this tenderloin, the juices squirted onto my shirt, lol. It paired well with the dirty rice. I don't know which blessed chef made the chop, but shout out to them: pork is a succulent meat that must be made well in this size to be fully cooked while saving the flavors of the piggy. SERVICE: I called on Friday night and spoke with Molly. She was able to make reservations for me that evening; she was very kind and very friendly. My server, Sean, was tentative, very explainable, and knowledgeable about their dishes. Toups will be my go-to while in NOLA. This spot provided the cuisine styles and flavors that I was looking for

When I say this was a true culinary experience for the tastebuds, I absolutely mean it. The cheeses on the cheese board were absolutely delicious and a wonderful display of different milks and aging processes. The meat board… oh my, the meat board. From exquisite handmade sausages, crispy fried pork belly bites, beautifully blended head cheese, velvety smooth chicken liver pâté, an assortment of pickled vegetables, and the boudin ball! Best selection I’ve ever had. My shrimp and grits entree was also bursting full of flavor with heirloom tomatoes, shrimp with the head on and a gorgeous dark roux that was perfection. And to top it all off, the most rich, moist, delectable coconut cake with caramel sauce tied in the whole meal to a 10/10. Our server, Maggie, was so knowledgeable and prompt with our service and made us feel so welcome and at home. The food, Maggie, and the atmosphere will make Toup’s a place I will never forget! We are already excited about our next trip to New Orleans to have this experience once again!

The food here is a must try! I had the liver mousse and the smoked duck. Everything was cooked to perfection and the duck slid off of the bone with the perfect blend of spices. I did not get a picture of the duck as I had gobbled it up

Maypop is a sophisticated restaurant by chef Michael Gulotta, known for his expertise in blending different cuisines. The menu offers a fusion of New Orleans and Southeast Asian flavors, resulting in unique dishes like the Provencal fish stew bourride with Gulf pompano and jumbo shrimp in grapefruit curry. The weekend brunch features an array of dim sum options, including crispy calamari with tamarind and octopus shumai with spicy mustard.

Jean M — Google review
Enjoyable but Not GREAT. We do live and work in New Orleans so maybe that makes us food snobs. I have eaten some excellent food here in New Orleans and around the world, Maypop just wasn’t one of those spots. We visited on a Thursday night. We had reservations for 5pm. They opened up exactly at 5pm and welcomed us in – ushered us to our seats. Really a great wait staff. Friendly and helpful. We started with a single cocktail – I had a dirty martini. The drink was good, but olives were just plain olives – nothing special. We were with another couple for a fun dinner before they went to the comedy show and we went home. If you do the Chef’s Tasting Menu it is all or none. All of the table has to do it or none can do it. We agreed that we were hungry so we opted for the 8 Course Grand Tasting menu. $150 pp without wine. It sounded fabulous. This is what we expected. For $150 we expected a few thrills. And we didn’t find them. Gulf Tuna Kinilaw >> one of our favorites – great flavors and the rice crisp gave it a nice crunch Hookkaido Scallop Crudo >> this was good with interesting flavors but nothing overwhelming - Annatto Sesame Rolls >> fairly flavorless and only slightly better with the butter or jam Crispy Fried P&B oysters >> oysters of many sizes (we know they are quire expensive at the moment so we were surprised to see these at all) – good flavors, but nothing really special or umami Charred Octopus >> this was very good. The octopus was a thick slice and not very chewy. The other flavors were good and we were wishing for a slice of bread to soak up the flavors on the plate Trofie >> was very enjoyable – with a lite curry sauce Palate cleanser >> not noted on the menu – a peach /citrus or something else sorbet and something else – this was actually one of the most interesting and flavorful items and more memorable. It mixed 3 different flavors together and was magical. Tandoori Fried Gulf Drum >> This was good – some exciting more unexpected flavors with perhaps a bit of mint in the chutney The BiG letdown was the “main” Joji Aged Ribey >> it was difficult to focus on the flavors because it was so chewy. Had to work to chew it into pieces. It was served perfectly cooked, just no good flavor and chewy. The best part of this dish are the mushrooms on top. Really they were excellent. Dessert >> Miso Butterscotch Cotta – or something similar – was a chocolate moose of some kind with a wonderful panna cotta – enjoyable but NOT off the charts rich or decadent. The location is nice. It was easy to have a Lyft driver drop off and pickup. When we arrived we were the ONLY people there. As people arrived it was noisier, but never overwhelming. WE did not try other things on their menu. They may be fantastic. Sorry Maypop – we will not be back.

One of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. Extraordinary culinary experience. The fish was absolutely perfect. Everything was delicious. Great cocktails. Great wine list. Service was excellent. If you're a real foodie, you need to go to Maypop. 100% will be back whenever I'm in town.

The food was good! It was a nice fusion incorporating New Orleans flavor! We got the octopus (highly recommend!), the bread (also highly recommend), and the fish (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!). All of it was delicious and the staff was great. Loves the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and I will indeed return when I am back in New Orleans!

I’m pretty critical of food and not one to give 5 stars easily but this place is SO deserving!! Wow… we did the 5 course menu with wine pairing & the food was insanely delicious. Not one thing was bad. It’s hard to find a place who can do everything so well like Maypop clearly does. Britney was an attentive and friendly server and Nicole was a very knowledgeable & enthusiastic sommelier. I cannot recommend this place enough. It is at the top of my list now when I tell people about where to eat in NOLA. 5 stars+!!

Pleasantly surprised by the variety and creative flavors of this restaurant. Came during happy hour and was able to try several small portions and drinks at a very reasonable price. I would come back just for the spicy wings. The shrimp and lamb entrees were also great. The ambiance is modern and quiet, making it a nice spot for a relaxed date or happy hour spot before a night out.

Stein's Market and Deli is a popular spot in New Orleans, known for its Jewish-Italian market offering specialty meats, cheeses, and a unique selection of brews. The deli boasts an extensive sandwich menu with over 40 options, including the famous Sam with hot pastrami and the Kelly with prosciutto. Despite zoning laws preventing on-site beer consumption, Stein's has an impressive collection of craft beers available for purchase.
Superb deli. Amazing hot pastrami on rye the Rachel - with sauerkraut and Swiss), great pickles. The first place I have seen Dr Brown’s cel-ray soda outside NY. And incredible Pretty Coffee.
Stuart W — Google review
We stopped at Stein’s while walking around the Garden District. Walking in, you feel like you’re in a New York Deli. There is limited seating, but people clear out fast enough it wasn’t an issue. We tried the pastrami sandwich with coleslaw on the seeded bread and the Robért. Both sandwiches were delicious and very filling. Great spot for a quick bite!
Nikki M — Google review
I was not overly impressed with Stein’s Market and Deli on Magazine Street. The atmosphere is similar to a New York City deli with things crowded all over around a deli counter. The people are friendly, but it is definitely a self service environment. The food is okay but a bit bland for my taste. All of that said, they are extremely busy so a lot of folks must be very pleased with them.

Bunny B — Google review
A Mixed Bag in the Garden District After spending considerable time in New Orleans' Upper Garden District over the past six years, I'm almost embarrassed to admit that Stein's Market and Deli had completely escaped my notice. Despite numerous coffee runs next door and flag shopping at the corner store, this deli remained invisible to me until a recent craving for a proper Reuben sent me searching online. My Tuesday morning visit before 11am found the place blissfully empty, though the friendly staff warned that crowds can descend quickly. The interior hits all the expected deli notes—cluttered walls, busy décor, and an atmosphere that tries hard to suggest decades of history (though it actually opened in 2007). Think NYC deli aesthetic transported to Louisiana. The service deserves praise. The gentleman behind the counter was genuinely helpful and friendly, making the ordering process smooth as I requested both a Reuben and the daily special Philly Cheesesteak. Orders came out promptly, which is important to note if you're planning a quick lunch. Just be aware that seating is minimal—a handful of tables inside and one out front. Unfortunately, this is where my enthusiasm wanes. The Reuben, while impressively stuffed with meat, was oddly one-dimensional. The sauerkraut—that essential tangy component—was completely MIA, neither visible nor detectable by taste. What should have been a balanced symphony of flavors became simply chewing through a mountain of thinly sliced deli meat. I couldn't even definitively identify it as corned beef; it was just... meat. The Philly Cheesesteak fared slightly better in construction, with peppers present as requested and a more reasonable meat-to-bread ratio. However, it suffered from a similar identity crisis—the provolone cheese was nowhere to be found, neither melted into the sandwich nor contributed any flavor. Both sandwiches were certainly filling, but filling isn't the same as satisfying. The lack of the key ingredients that define these classic sandwiches left me disappointed. These aren't just garnishes—sauerkraut and cheese are fundamental to what makes a Reuben and Cheesesteak work. While I appreciate the friendly service and the convenience of the location, I'll be exploring other options for my future deli cravings in the Garden District. Stein's isn't bad, but it's not living up to the potential suggested by its carefully curated atmosphere and prime location. Final Rating: Food: ⭐⭐⭐ (3 stars) Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars) Ambiance: ⭐⭐⭐ (3 stars)

Hansen's Sno-Bliz is a cherished family-owned sno-ball stand that has been delighting visitors since 1939. Nestled in the heart of New Orleans, this iconic spot is renowned for its incredibly soft shaved ice and an impressive array of homemade syrups, featuring unique flavors like ginger and cardamom. The moment you walk through the charming wooden screen doors, you're welcomed by a warm atmosphere and friendly service that makes you feel right at home.
I recently visited Hansen's Sno-Bliz after seeing it featured on Samantha Brown's Places to Love, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! The snowballs here are not only affordable but also packed with incredible flavor. I ordered the Wild Cherry, and it was fantastic — rich, vibrant, and perfectly sweet. What really sets Hansen's apart is the texture of their snow — it's unbelievably soft and fluffy, just like real snow. You can really taste (and feel) the care they put into every snowball. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic and delicious treat!

Amazing! Unlike any other snow cone I have ever had. The texture of the ice is like powder and the syrups are unique and flavorful. We had honey-lavender and passion fruit, and another with honey lavender and hibiscus. (Both were gluten free)

Such a cool concept and this was a really nice place to go on a super hot day here in New Orleans! Good: - Huge portion sizes - for $6 you get more ice cream than you can eat for 1 person - Fast service, and the staff were so nice! They also let us try the flavors before finalizing our choice - The strawberry shortcake flavor was delicious. I did feel like the shaved ice kind of tasted like ice cream and not just a typical shaved ice. It's creamy for some reason but it's just ice! Bad: - There's limited outdoor seating so you end up just standing around unless 1 of the benches free up Overall this was such a cool experience! I liked how we found this place on one of the hottest days in New Orleans and it automatically cooled us down.

Listen yall I’m not a huge snocone person but THIS is the spot !! You have to come here and get one yourself just to know the caliber of treat you’re dealing with . The snow is so soft, melts in your mouth. The flavors are hand crafted and off the chain. I’m genuinely perplexed how they get such a depth of flavor into these syrups . I got a thai tea / pandan/ cream of matcha sno and my wife got two: one blue bubblegum (she’s from cali says it gives her nostalgia) and one satsuma passion fruit which she loves , is very refreshing I mean the flavor combos are crazy n endless. Def make this one of your NOLA staples

Lilly's Café is a charming Vietnamese eatery located in the vibrant Lower Garden District of New Orleans. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with hand-crafted signs and wooden furniture, sets the stage for an authentic dining experience. Known for its top-notch pho, banh mi, and signature spring rolls, Lilly's Cafe offers a menu that caters to both meat lovers and vegetarians alike.
I rarely eat Vietnamese food out being Vietnamese born nothing beats my mom’s food, however I had a good hunch coming across them on google, I was really impressed with their Pho broth (usually ruined with too much sugar) was warming and comforting. This is Authentic Vietnamese Owned and Run, really welcoming and friendly.

Situated at the start of magazine street. Service was fast. The soup lacked flavour. The bean sproud did not look too fresh. I did not like the fact the cut of the beef balls into 8 small pieces instead of giving whole meat balls. The brisket was extremely dry and lack flavors. Maybe been cooking for too long. This being said the portion was quite generous. The Vietnamese ice coffee was also very diluted and taste like instant. When we visited they were only accepting cash as their system was down.

Great spot with delicious food and even better value! Lilly’s cafe was a pleasant lunch affair for our group of six. We had a combination of summer rolls, fried shrimp rolls, and vegetable rolls. I had these for my main, the other people in my group had pho. We phoroughly enjoyed our food. A great restaurant to escape the typically greasy cuisine of the south. Highly recommended visit. Lilys have clearly won many awards for their outstanding restaurant (pictured). I have never particularly understood some of the more brothy Asian cuisine such as pho or ramen. I understand it’s nice, as people I’m with often request it, but to me it is somewhat boring tasting, and does not fit my typical meal time requirements. Certainly a suitable dish to be had when escaping from the heat.

Really friendly people and profesional, but food (especially taste) could be better. We ordered pho and bun with pork. The pho noodle was too soft and the broth wasn’t beefy enough. The bun didn’t have enough veggie and the pork was not marinated well. If we could be blunt, they didn’t taste authentic enough to our liking. But we still appreciate their smile and friendliness. And the table across us was super loud we could hear their entire conversation. Not nice, folks. Lastly, the price listed wasn’t what we paid. All items were “inflation adjusted” (or so we think) by $0.4-0.6. It would’ve been great to know beforehand.

Restaurant
McHardy's Chicken & Fixin' is a popular spot known for its peppery fried chicken and classic soul food dishes. The 7th Ward restaurant, run by the Mogilles family, serves up juicy thighs heavily seasoned with a secret mix of spices, resulting in the crispiest skin and aromatic flavors. Despite its small space and fast-food vibe, this takeout-only shop offers high-quality, affordable fare that includes some of the tastiest fried chicken in town.
I ordered two legs a wing and a breast they gave me a thigh instead of two legs, but in spite of that this was very good fried chicken I got red beans with rice and the red beans was very authentic delicious New Orleans not a lot of spices, but you can always add that with spice. I was watching the french fries cooking and it looked at me like they were gonna get too dark so their grease was maybe old and needed to be thrown out. I have no idea how the fries are but the chicken and beans are great. I do have to say that the place smells really bad And I almost think the sanitation department should go over there because wow and a few restaurants in New Orleans have a weird smell like bleach on top of sewage kind of smell, but the look of the place outside is fantastic. It looks like it was some other kind of store that got converted into the chicken place. All these things are promised of good chicken and in this case it actually is good. I prefer Hank’s for chicken tenders, but for real chicken this place gets the prize.
Rickie J — Google review
McHardy's is arguably one of the top three fried chicken spots in town; it’s sometimes our favorite. However, I'm deducting one star for inconsistency. Tip: Call in your order 30 minutes before you pick it up. On our most recent visit, Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, around 3:30-4 PM, we waited 40 minutes for two chicken breasts and sides. Fried chicken usually takes 20 minutes when cooked to order, and they were busy with customers waiting. Despite some of the other reviews, we've always found the service to be friendly. This time, our chicken had a hint of fried fish. The mashed potatoes, although homemade, were too salty. The dirty rice was pretty good, and the red beans and rice were great. I hope this was an isolated incident. Next time, will go on a weekday and skip the sides, except for the red beans and rice.

Was my first time visiting and will be my last. The cashier made me feel like I was being rushed to place an order. Of course it's gonna take a lil longer to scan the menu if it's my first time. Anyways, I got fried catfish. Catfish was so bland, I've never tasted catfish so nasty.. and the menu claims it's crispy, yet I still had to come home and air fry it to get the crisp I desire. Chicken was horrible and BLOODY as hell. Like come on man, this food not even edible!!!!! So disgusted because I literally hate spending MY money on nasty food, now I'm still hungry 🙄

Omg!!! Mc Hardy’s does chicken. Not catfish… per my husband. I appreciate that they had something for him, but the flavor wasn’t the best, but decent! BACK to the chicken!!’ It was seasoned, but not salty!!! It was so good I ordered a larger box to go… when you order the $9 wing pieces combo they are small. But when I say the chicken was seasoned to perfection….it was cooked fresh to order. The Arnold Palmer was delicious..
