Dim sum restaurant
Chinese restaurant
Restaurant
Dian Xin is a charming Chinese restaurant located in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans. Despite being a rare find among the Creole eateries, it has garnered widespread enthusiasm since its opening in 2019. The name 'Dian Xin' translates to dim sum, and true to its name, the restaurant excels in this area.
From walking in and seeing a giant koi fish that greeted us like a dog, to a wonderful server that answered all my questions and gave me the best suggestions of what to eat, to the fresh and tasty food. I couldn't have been more happy.
James C — Google review
3.7 stars. We opted for something other than Cajun and found Dian Xin. Simple, small venue serving seriously good food. Slight knock on the atmosphere as about a third of the way through lunch, we all started to get hot as there was little circulation in the restaurant even though they had fans on. The soup dumplings, wings, and honey walnut shrimp were perfect! Definitely worth eating here if you get an Asian craving.
M C — Google review
It is a nice casual Asian place. Food was great — we had beef eggplants and wonton soup, — both amazing. They have better selection of drinks that you would expect and prices are very reasonable, especially as for the French Quarter. The only reason why I rated it 4*, I do really prefer my food served in a not chipped tableware.
Dmytro B — Google review
One of our favorite places in New Orleans. Dian Xin was a good combination of comfort food with unique twist. I enjoyed the shrimp and crawfish dumplings. I’ve never seen that before. They were huge dumplings I’m not used to seeing. The taste was great too. Hot n sour soup was a surprise. I have a general baseline for this type of soup as they can all taste the same but this one was a great balance of sour and savory. The soup itself is a meal in its own since it comes with a lot in it. Lastly, the jianbing was great. I haven’t had one since I’ve been to Chicago, and this one was just as good as the one I found in Chinatown. The braised beef was tender and I loved the sweet sauce they put in it. A huge plus with Dian Xin was their anime theme. They were playing anime intro songs all day and had Jojo on.

I visited NOLA from Texas, we were there the labor day weekend. You walk in and it’s like a mom and pop shop. They do regular entrees on top of serving hot pot. We went from some seafood stuffed boa, salt and pepper squid and the sesame seed chicken. When I say we cleaned our plates, I mean it. It was by far the best food I had all 4 days in NOLA. So thank you. Next time I visit this will be my first stop!!!
Briah C — Google review
The food was hot and fresh. The service was quick. The price was incredible 2 appetizers 2 drinks and 4 large entrees with lots of rice still under $100! In new orleans thats impressive!! The waiters are young and energetic. When listing french quarter restaurants Its a pretty slept on place comparatively.
Devon G — Google review
I had been wanting to go to this restaurant for over a year! My friend & I finally went yesterday. Highly disappointed. Our waiter was great! But unless you eat pork the soup dumplings won't be for you. I will say the crab rangoon was perfect but we also ordered the governor Tao's chicken it was so dry & so nasty, completely unedible. They wouldn't comp it for us even though we ate none of it. Highly disappointed to say the least.
K B — Google review
Nice Chinese restaurant in the quarter. Menu features a lot of dumplings and buns with various fillings. Also regular selections of Chinese food. Good food, generous portions, good value. All the food was fresh and delicious highly recommend. Give them a try!

Ming's is a laid-back restaurant that serves traditional Cantonese and other Chinese dishes, including some of the best hot and sour soup in New Orleans. The friendly staff and delicious food make it a top spot for Chinese cuisine, perfect for gatherings as all entrees are shareable. In addition to the famous hot and sour soup, must-try dishes include the Moo Goo Gai Pan and Honey Walnut Shrimp.
Absolutely delicious!!!! Omg I highly recommend it’s better then any Chinese place in New Orleans, that’s a fact!

We sat at the bar and were in and out. What amazing food! Thanks Google reviews for totally showing us it's exactly what we needed!

Everything is made from scratch and tasted amazing!! Super friendly staff and very quick with food! 11/5 stars, would come back for the crab ragoon alone.
Saadi A — Google review
10/10. Prices, service and flavor is amazing. Get the eggrolls. Mongolian beef is great and the fried rice. If your looking for a salty or dark brown fried rice then this is not the place to order fried rice. Theirs is bland compared to Five Happiness.
Sebastian S — Google review
Staff is super friendly and helpful. The food was ok, not as much flavor as I expected and a bit more on the explained side for the prices. My favorite thing was the chicken fried rice which actually had good flavor and different vegetables. It’s the one thing I would go back for.
B F — Google review
Amazing and Delicious! Their egg rolls are special! Unlike any others you have ever had. So many goodies wrapped up in that egg roll, it could be a meal unto itself! The Shrimp and lobster sauce had layers of flavor! Again, unlike any other you have ever had. Delicious! The XO Beef had a depth of beef flavor that was rich and warm! The veggies in this dish were crisp and fresh! Lastly, we had the Kung Pao Chicken. It was full of crunchiness...didnt disappoint! It's a small restaurant, owned locally. Very friendly service. It's a must for returning!
Marad J — Google review
I really loved the food here. It's pricey but the quantity of food given to you is huge. I have been snacking on the fried rice for 2 days now.
Zachary C — Google review
I have never seen a place that looks less like a Chinese restaurant than this place. Once inside I got the vibe of a place that is directly in between a high end restaurant and a take out joint. I did like the wide menu selections. I suggest you go full on Chinese style and start with soup and a veggie dish. The baby Bok Choy was excellent. Despite the mix signal I got on the decor I will say overall my meal was very good.

Dumpling restaurant
LUVI Restaurant is a cozy spot in New Orleans that offers a unique blend of Chinese and Japanese cuisine with a modern twist, complemented by an array of cocktails. Despite its unassuming appearance, this intimate venue has garnered attention and praise since its establishment in 2018. Chef Hao Gong's expertise from his time at Sake Cafe shines through in the innovative pan-Asian menu, featuring influences from both Japanese and Chinese culinary traditions.
A perfect date night or girls night restaurant! Luvi is a colorful, petite spot with excellent food and kind service. My mom and I shared the Feed Me and each dish was fresh, light and delicious perfectly paired with the wine. After that, we shared the Spicy Dan Dan Noodles. The broth was so flavorful and warm! To finish, we tried their ice cream trio, and like the rest of the dishes, were perfectly paired and full of aromatics and flavor without being overbearingly sweet. I look forward to returning and trying more of their dishes! Whole meal no tip was about $70 per person (including alcohol)
Annikah G — Google review
Get the "feed me" chefs tasting menu. It is worth the price point and then some. This place is my favorite out of all the restaurants I visited in New Orleans. A genuine cozy place with flavor profiles and techniques that you can watch at the Chef's Counter. Go. Enjoy.
Buddy P — Google review
Truly delightful dining experience. Staff sat us despite it being very full for a weekday, they were kind and helpful. Order food I wasn’t even sure I’ve tried before, but wow. Everything was truly delicious. Maybe our new favorite spot in the city.
James C — Google review
One of my go-to spots for dumplings and sushi in NOLA! The vibe is laid-back with eye-catching decor that adds to the charm. It’s a small space, so I highly recommend making a reservation if you don’t want to wait. To start, we ordered the Paloma and lychee cocktails, both refreshing and perfectly balanced. We also tried the Monkey Snack and Stoplight rolls. If you’re into bold, complex flavor profiles, the Monkey Snack is a must. Sweet, tangy, and packed with flavor—it hits every note. The Stoplight roll brings just the right amount of heat thanks to the jalapeños, and the fish is incredibly fresh. But the real star for me? The curried dumpling broth. I seriously dream about it when I’m not in NOLA. It’s so rich and flavorful that I almost finish the broth before touching the dumplings. Absolute comfort in a bowl. The tuna rangoons weren’t my favorite, but still a solid dish. Overall, a staple spot for me anytime I’m in town. Consistently delicious with creative dishes that leave a lasting impression.
Megan B — Google review
Cozy little restaurant with a 1.5-hour dining limit. The menu featured a selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes, all well-prepared. My favorite dishes were the double-fried hamachi collar and the tuna Rangoon, both of which were incredibly flavorful. A great spot for a satisfying meal with a blend of Asian flavors.
Anita — Google review
Quintessential NOLA in every way. LUVI is a gem… can’t believe it took me a couple years to try these guys. Noodles, apps, drinks everything is 5-star. Don’t sleep on these guys. Restaurant is a perfect jewel box as well.
Paul S — Google review
I just brought my parents here for dinner this evening and wow, what an amazing dinner it was. The staff was above and beyond when it came to service: refilling water regularly, were enthusiastic about the dishes, and were very welcoming. The drinks and dishes were phenomenal. The cocktails were well balanced, both tasty and beyond enjoyable. For dishes we had the Monkey Snack, Stoplight, Dragon Boat, Shanghai Spring Rolls, Mala Holla, Curried Favor Dumplings, Lacy Crab Roe Potstickers, and the Vegan Lover Dumplings. We enjoyed the dishes so much that we ordered another Curried Favor Dumpling dish and an order of Dan Dan Noodles To-Go! Every dish was unique and delicious, and not a crumb was left on the plates. For dessert we each had the trio of icecream including black sesame coconut, dragonfruit, and magnolia black tea icecream. The collaboration of LUVI and Creole Creamery on this icecream was superb and the flavors were truly unmatched. And top it all off with an eclectic and intimate atmosphere...Thank you to the owner and staff for such a wonderful dining experience....we will definitely come back!
Jenna D — Google review
We were visiting from out of town and wanted to explore outside the CBD. After a 20 min Lyft and over $100 per person for the meal, we just felt underwhelmed. The fish just lacked flavor all around, and many small plates were odd combinations of flavors. Smashed cucumbers were sent back due to very chemically after-taste. Cabbage was the best thing we ate. I would rather go an actual sushi restaurant that values fresh, good quality fish rather than trying to cover up subpar fish with weird sauces. Service was ok.

Chinese restaurant
Nestled on the vibrant Magazine Street, Miss Shirley's is a delightful new addition to New Orleans' dining scene, bringing with it a rich legacy from its previous incarnation in Metairie. Formerly known as Royal China, this family-run establishment has shifted its focus to an impressive array of dim sum while still offering beloved traditional Chinese dishes and American favorites. The menu boasts mouthwatering options like pork soup dumplings, shrimp wontons, and crispy eggplant that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
Been wanting to come here for a while and finally was able to make it. There was a bit of a wait but is to be expected on a Saturday night. We were seated and immediately provided with complimentary pork dumplings which were very good. I Ordered the Orange Ginger Chicken and Combination fried rice. We also had the Tong Chow chicken. Our food didnt all come out at the same time, but everything was hot and fresh when it did arrive. The rice had peas and bran sprouts which was a very welcome surprise. The atmosphere was a bit loud but its not a very big place and they were very busy. The server was attentive and kept my tea glass full. A++ for that. We were full so we didnt get desert, but were once again treated with complimentary beignets fresh from the fryer.... a very nice touch. 💯 We will be back real soon to try some more of the menu...
Masike T — Google review
Traveling to New Orleans, I never expected to eat Chinese food, but we were encouraged to visit by the owner of our B&B. Miss Shirley's was the BEST Chinese food we have ever had, and will be a repeat experience the next time we are in town. Our server was knowledgeable and happy to offer suggestions for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, and Miss Shirley herself stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying our dinner. Every single thing we tried was phenomenal - dumplings, salt and pepper tofu, Singapore noodles, and several other dishes. Even the egg rolls were a notch above all other egg rolls in my life. Several draft beers were available (in addition to wine and cocktails) and were a nice compliment to the food.
Susan M — Google review
Miss Shirley’s Located in the same spot as the old Golden Dragon, this place has been completely reimagined. The vibe is more polished, cozy yet modern—perfect for a casual date night, business lunch, or upscale dinner with friends. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried tasted fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. It’s not your typical takeout spot—this is Chinese cuisine with a refined twist. The flavors are bold but clean, and you can tell the ingredients are top-notch. What really sets Miss Shirley’s apart is the impressive selection of wine, beer, and liqueur. The beverage list rivals some of the trendiest restaurants uptown, making it a great place to pair your dumplings or duck with a curated drink. Prices are a bit higher than a standard Chinese restaurant, but it’s clear you’re paying for quality and ambiance. It’s more of a business casual or special occasion spot rather than a quick bite—but totally worth it. Highly recommend everyone check it out for themselves. Whether you're a longtime fan of Chinese food or just exploring new dining spots, Miss Shirley’s is a fresh, flavorful experience you won’t want to miss.
Italian P — Google review
I’ve been here more times than I can count and I’ve NEVER had a bad experience. There’s almost always a wait so I usually sit at the bar. They always serve complimentary dumplings as like an amuse-bouche. They have seasonal cocktails in addition to the regular menu. My favorites include the yuzu collins and the vesper. My favorite menu items are the beef short ribs, the crab dumplings, the EGG ROLLS!, and the crab udon noodles. They always have specials as well which never disappoint. They bring complimentary beignets at the end of the meal with your fortune cookie. The food is hot, fresh, fast, and homey. Always feels like a home cooked meal. And it’s not uncommon for Ms Shirley to stop by your table or clear your plates. The vibes, the food, the service…never disappoint. Easily one of my favorite places.
Morenike E — Google review
Went here on June 13, 2025 at noon-ish, food was great! I sat at the bar, and the guy holding down the bar gave me a complimentary dumpling. I got the pork lo mein and a special appetizer they had, the watermelon and pork belly. Would definitely come here again to try their udon dishes! As an extra note, I along with two others were sitting at the bar and a stranger who sat further down finished paying for his meal...and also covered everyone else who was at the bar at that time. He left before our server told us what happened. Too that kind stranger, thank you. I wish I got to thank you in person.

I went for dinner and had a lovely time. The food was delicious and the spice so on point. I recommend this place big time. I had the tofu with black bean sauce and the curry noodles. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This place is so amazing! The owner and staff are so wonderful! We had Erisa as our server and she was so quick and efficient and friendly! The owner is so personable and even gave us complimentary fried dumplings while we were waiting outside. Once we got in the food was impeccable, fresh and hot. The eggs rolls and pork dumplings are amazing! The food runner Valeska can’t forget my girl made us feel at home and sparked a conversation with us. We will be back and visit Erisa, Her mom, Miss Shirley and Valeska! We love yall!

We went here as a family during a trip to New Orleans, and I think we will always remember our meal at Miss Shirley’s. As soon as we sat down, our waiter, Tony, brought us the house dumplings. The kids, who are typically a bit picky, ate all of the dumplings in a flash and requested to order more for their meal. We ordered the sesame chicken, dragon dumplings, more house dumplings, the lettuce wraps, orange ginger chicken and fried boneless chicken. It was all delicious. The ambiance was warm, welcoming & bustling. Miss Shirley came to each table in the restaurant to chat with each group. We told her how much the kids loved the house dumplings and she immediately brought out more. It felt like we were dining in Miss Shirley’s home. Tony, our waiter, was on point. He was on the ball with our orders, kind, attentive & quick. Shirley has clearly hired a fantastic team - everyone we interacted with was great at what they do. The cherry on top were the fresh beignets brought out to each table at the end of the meal. Highly recommend Miss Shirley’s if you’re in New Orleans!

Chinese restaurant
This Chinese restaurant is a great place to go for a delicious meal. They serve up some of the best hot pot and dim sum around, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for a casual place to eat with family or friends, Panda King will definitely not disappoint.
OMG legit dim sum. Haven't had anything even approximating this outside of the places I've been to in Chicago's Chinatown. But this is a test of self control. We got there early and when they started rolling out the carts it was almost overwhelming. Being 1 of only 2 tables at the time, we were suddenly bombarded with a line of carts with way too much food that all looked way too good. We kept it to about 6 dishes and had enough to take home. Everything we tried was good, and so many options. I couldn't tell you how much the individual dishes cost, but we pigged out and paid $20/person. Obviously the more or higher end the dishes, the more you'll pay. The buffet is next door if that's what you want. As is dim sum is weekend only(like most places), and worth the trip to the west bank.
Malcolm E — Google review
Have a lot of options for dim sum, but the dishes that are served on the white plates are never hot. They need to figure out a way to make sure the food stays warm enough till it gets passed to the table. Other than that, it’s not that bad! Service is pretty good, and the push carts come around often. My favorite dim sum options are the pork hock, shumai, roasted pork, roasted duck, and Chinese broccoli Highly suggest coming around 11 am on Sundays to beat the crowd!
Brandy H — Google review
From all the dim sum places I’ve tried in NOLA, Panda King is the ONLY place that has rolling carts for the food options. I really appreciate this since it’s a traditional aesthetic for dim sum that gives off an authentic vibe. The service was nice. The inside was normal, but clean. The food has always been great! Especially the shui mai & fried taro balls. The only downside is that they don’t tell you how much each food item costs. You would have to pick from the cart, and the servers will stamp on the checklist for the price. You don’t know the price beforehand. Aside from that, I don’t really have any other complaints. Yummy House is a really good spot too, but they unfortunately don’t have the rolling carts like Panda King. Overall, Panda King will always be an original West Bank dim sum staple.
Ryan N — Google review
Had the dim sum and it was great. So many delicious options for a reasonable price. Also just a nice atmosphere Came back and it was so delicious. Dim sum with the cart is only available on the weekends but you can still order some of the dim sum items on weekdays. The Peking duck is very similar to the ones in Beijing. The portion size was very big. Also definitely recommend the beef with stir fried flat noodle.
MerkZ — Google review
Panda King 925 Behrman Hwy, Terrytown, LA 70056 Don't be so dim. Come to Dim Sum. Well, Panda King, to be exact. Dim sum are small dishes—steamed, baked, or fried. Their Dim Sum is ONLY open on SATURDAY & SUNDAY afternoon now. I do not recall what I ordered, but I definitely tell you that I ate Sum of Dim and it was yummy in my tummy! #Tonylameats #pandakingdimsum #pandakinggretna #dimsum #gretnala #chinesefood

Came here with my family, and waited for my son to get here while we waited for a table for nearly 30 minutes with free chairs and tables everywhere. They didn’t seem to bother setting up a spot for us and they wouldn’t even let us sit anywhere at all. The front desk receptionist looked miserable and there’s leaves and dirt in the front door’s reception area where no employees bothered sweeping it up. I counted 4-5 tables open and they kept us waiting as they were “setting up tables” which made the wait even longer. Don’t bother coming here in a large group, you won’t be served.
Brian N — Google review
Worst food we ever eaten. Soy sauce was your salad dressing. How gross. Do not recommend this restaurant for NO one. Cook your food at home. Even if you can't cook. Microwave anything would be better.
TERRY M — Google review
No longer just dim sum, Panda King Buffet and hot pot reopened with a new twist. Hot Pot is now AYCE for $29.99 per person and includes the full buffet as well. I wouldn't reccomend filling up on the buffet but its nice to have hot apps and dessert options. Overall a comfy ayce hot pot experience on the westbank with a large selection of seafoods, meats, non-meats, and veggies. I wish there were more options to the sauce bar, and they were missing staples like vinegars, sesame oil, sugar, oyster sauce, liquid amino, sesame seeds, and peanuts that other hot pot places normally have. I'm happy they're back open and look forward to what they have to offer! Protip: use the soup bowls at the buffet to make your sauces for hot pot. The regular sauce dishes are a little small and hard to dip in. You can also ask for more broth!

Five Happiness Chinese Restaurant is a popular spot in New Orleans, known for its elevated Chinese cuisine served in a modern and spacious setting with Asian-inspired decor. Located in NOLAs Gert Town, it's a favorite among locals for its classic and unique dishes such as Sweet and Sour Pork and Duck and Seafood Soup. Whether dining in or opting for takeout, this restaurant offers an excellent option to savor some of the finest Chinese cuisine in the city.
I ordered the General chicken and pork fried rice, and both entrees were delicious! They come pipping hot, and it literally took 8 minutes, and it was done! The chicken wasn't too breaded or too naked. Also, the grease the egg roll was fried in didn't taste old as some places do. The leftovers were just as good late at night when I had some! As of now, this is my go-to as far as chinese is concerned!

I hate to rate poorly, but this was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. The Chinese food in the mall is better. All of the food lacked flavor and salt. The double cooked pork was about 5 pieces of meat and the rest was vegetables. The mandarin chicken was a fried chicken cutlet with a bizarre tasting sauce on the side. I was very disappointed with this food.

I have eaten here many times throughout the years. The first owner I knew well and she and her husband took suck great care in food preparation and quality. Today I can say the tradition goes on with new owners because the food is fresh and very delicious. Nice work chefs!
Lance G — Google review
One of the most well-known and established Chinese restaurants in the New Orleans area. I have been here many times, and am basing my comments on all the visits. First, the food. The food is generally excellent - some dishes are more to my liking than others, but I really enjoy everything I get here. Wonderful. The service leaves a little to be desired. The staff is friendly, but every time I come here it seems I have to wait a while before I get what I need. I do eventually get their attention, but I just don’t care for the wait. Atmosphere - very nice! There is no fluorescent lighting, it’s not too bright and they play Chinese music in the background… but it is too low and you can barely hear it. Just a *little* louder tonight. Overall, I have never had a bad dining experience here. I will continue to dine here and try new items on their menu.

I love egg foo young and have eaten it all over the US. I ordered shrimp egg foo young from this restaurant, but what I was served was far from what it is supposed to be. Instead of a fluffy omelet containing bean sprouts, onions and shrimp with a savory gravy, it was closest to a fritata with ground veggies a strange tasting sauce with shrimp poured over it. The egg patty itself was heavy and dense....hardly a fluffy omelet. DO NOT ORDER unless this sounds appealing.

Delivery was supposed to include utensils but they failed to include. So I had to eat with my hands. (They were too busy to care when I called about it). Also, as a lifelong New Yorker-- I recall a very good Five Happiness years ago in Manhattan- this New Orleans knockoff may be the worst Chinese food I've ever had. And yet expensive. No flavor, like the other recent review noted. The "vegetable soup" is just hot water with large chunks of vegetables in it. Yuck. Couldn't drink it. Tasteless fried rice. Chicken with snow peas and mushrooms was almost too bland to eat. (The sauce was mediocre.) I hope New Orleans has better Chinese food than this. Sad.

I've always enjoyed this place. Its a New Orleans staple for many years. Must say its the best Chinese food in the metropolitan area. You won't regret visiting Five Happiness.

Absolutely the best Chinese food i have found in New Orleans. I can't recommend Five Happiness highly enough. From dim sum appetizers to the magnificent Peking Duck, expect authentic tastes of China. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Truly a don't miss foodie spot.

Lilly's Café is a charming Vietnamese eatery located in the vibrant Lower Garden District of New Orleans. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with hand-crafted signs and wooden furniture, sets the stage for an authentic dining experience. Known for its top-notch pho, banh mi, and signature spring rolls, Lilly's Cafe offers a menu that caters to both meat lovers and vegetarians alike.
I rarely eat Vietnamese food out being Vietnamese born nothing beats my mom’s food, however I had a good hunch coming across them on google, I was really impressed with their Pho broth (usually ruined with too much sugar) was warming and comforting. This is Authentic Vietnamese Owned and Run, really welcoming and friendly.

Situated at the start of magazine street. Service was fast. The soup lacked flavour. The bean sproud did not look too fresh. I did not like the fact the cut of the beef balls into 8 small pieces instead of giving whole meat balls. The brisket was extremely dry and lack flavors. Maybe been cooking for too long. This being said the portion was quite generous. The Vietnamese ice coffee was also very diluted and taste like instant. When we visited they were only accepting cash as their system was down.
Pog E — Google review
Great spot with delicious food and even better value! Lilly’s cafe was a pleasant lunch affair for our group of six. We had a combination of summer rolls, fried shrimp rolls, and vegetable rolls. I had these for my main, the other people in my group had pho. We phoroughly enjoyed our food. A great restaurant to escape the typically greasy cuisine of the south. Highly recommended visit. Lilys have clearly won many awards for their outstanding restaurant (pictured). I have never particularly understood some of the more brothy Asian cuisine such as pho or ramen. I understand it’s nice, as people I’m with often request it, but to me it is somewhat boring tasting, and does not fit my typical meal time requirements. Certainly a suitable dish to be had when escaping from the heat.

Excellent staffs, beautiful decor, tasty authentic Vietnamese cuisine that will satisfy almost anyone.
Tung T — Google review
Really friendly people and profesional, but food (especially taste) could be better. We ordered pho and bun with pork. The pho noodle was too soft and the broth wasn’t beefy enough. The bun didn’t have enough veggie and the pork was not marinated well. If we could be blunt, they didn’t taste authentic enough to our liking. But we still appreciate their smile and friendliness. And the table across us was super loud we could hear their entire conversation. Not nice, folks. Lastly, the price listed wasn’t what we paid. All items were “inflation adjusted” (or so we think) by $0.4-0.6. It would’ve been great to know beforehand.

The Pho Combo is the best we've had and the spicy beef Banh-mi-Poboy is worth visiting New Orleans all by itself!! Wow, this place is amazing!!! The steamed pork dumplings were awesome and the grilled chicken salad was delicious, and that sweet and sour vinegarette, oh my, soooo good on the salad!

This is my Pho staple. My beloved local Vietnamese restaurant. I’ve been in the restaurant physically before and seen a roach but let it go. However this time via ordering on uber eats, I found a bug in my food. Uber refunded me for that one part of my order but unfortunately this bug issue should not be a common occurrence.

After all the heavy nola food sometimes you need a clean, beefy broth and rice noodles to bring you back to life. if you’re downtown and need a pho fix, Lily’s is the place to go make a quick 10 minute drive over from canal you won’t regret it. get the dac biet and pork egg rolls

Nestled in a cozy strip mall, China Orchid Bistro is a delightful destination for those craving hearty Chinese and American cuisine. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and romance, making it an ideal spot for date night or special occasions. Start your culinary journey with their Appetizer Tray For 2, featuring a mouthwatering selection of egg rolls, crab Rangoon, barbecue ribs, shrimp toast, fried wontons, and chicken wings—perfect for sharing!
This was a wonderful spot to stop for a quick meal. I got the orange chicken combo. It was fantastic. Personally, I would have preferred less sauce, but that's splitting hairs, and probably not universal. The server was on her game, and a delight to deal with. She never let my drink go empty. The sweet tea was actually sweet, like a Southern granny made it. The seating has plenty of options, so it doesn't matter if everyone wants a booth or a chair, or if your party is split, everyone can be accommodated. Also, the rest of the diners were well mannered. There wasn't a single blaring phone or inappropriately loud conversation. It was a very pleasant environment that was beautifully decorated. Additionally: Another person posted in their review that this place only has 4 free parking spaces, otherwise, you have to pay to park. This is incorrect. They have 4 reserved spaces. Otherwise, you have to park amongst the other visitors to the shopping center, who may be going to the bank, ice cream parlor, etc. The parking kiosk in their picture is for parking on the street, which is mostly for visitors to other businesses neighboring this shopping center, because many of them don't have designated parking.

I placed an order of shrimp lo mein, shrimp + chicken lo mein, fried rice, sesame chicken and crab wontons. The food was extremely dry, warm but dry. Almost as if it’s been sitting there for a while. I called to possibly get half a refund back and the receptionist went on to say that I was 40 minutes late picking up my order, that’s why it was dry. I placed the order at 3:00 it took me 10 minutes to get there and 10 minutes to get back to my location. There’s NO way the food would’ve been that dry. She then goes on to say that the manager said there’s nothing they can do about it. I understand to a certain extent. Yes, I should’ve checked the food before leaving but who checks Chinese food? It’s ALWAYS good! Maybe if you dine in, it would be okay but I do NOT recommend calling for takeout. I’m not sure if our food was old or what but it was extremely dry!!

This is a wonderful place to come eat. You want to try Asian Cuisine than this place is for you. They have great seating , and a Bar. We were greeted right away. And we were allowed to pick were we wanted to sit down. The wait staff were very friendly and service was very fast. The food was hot and super tasty. We had the sampler platter for 2. Also fried pot stickers. It was enough for for 3 to have a light lunch. But the menu looked so good I almost ordered a bigger plate. We were visiting from Texas for our son goes to college here. We will definitely come back. Also when you come here it is limited parking. China orchid has some spots for there restaurant you don't have to pay. But if you are parking any 9thet place you will need to pay at kiosk by the street. It's min 30 mins for $1.40 and for 1hr 20 mins it was $2.30 . Not bad for parking.

If you're looking for great Chinese food at a reasonable price you'll love this place. Some friends and I ate here today and love it. I read all the reviews and I'm pleased to say IT'S ALL TRUE!!! We had Susan as our server and she exuded excellent service. Her drinks were made to perfection and served along with a perfect smile. The food was perfect and we can't repeat that enough. The location true is in a strip mall, but it's a very nice and comfy place. Here are some pics of the food we ordered and I hope this review sends more natives or visitors to this location. 1. General Tso's Chicken with shrimp fried rice and egg roll... 2. Seafood Hot Pot... 3. Grilled Shrimp...

Nestled in the vibrant heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, Zhang Bistro stands out as a delightful alternative to the city's renowned Cajun and Creole fare. This Asian fusion gem is celebrated for its innovative blend of traditional and modern culinary techniques, offering an array of dishes that cater to diverse dietary preferences, including gluten-free and vegan options. Diners rave about their tantalizing appetizers like Shu Mai dumplings and Spicy Cucumbers, which are perfect for sharing.
Tucked in quite corner of New Orleans is this gem of Asian cusiene. We enjoyed some amazing Thai curries and Jasmine rice. They have good variety of starters and side dishes. We loved the veg dumplings. The chilly oil was the best I have had ever. To top all this was the mango sticky rice. Delicious..

We decided to eat here sept 25th, food was delicious & quiet and peaceful inside the restaurant . We had a server named Andrew ( white guy ) who informed us he just started working there so we gave him grace . He brings out our food and forget to put my pepper steak on the grill so it could smoke but we gave him grace because he claimed he was new . We get done with our food and I pay with my card & pack up. We make it down the street ( right out the restaurant ) past dp dough and our server ran after us with hostility saying “was something wrong with our service because you didn’t tip, u spend $60, and your that broke you couldn’t tip” which I felt is completely unacceptable and unprofessional! I’m so scared to come back . We couldn’t tip because I’m not financially in a good situation to tip yet we still wanted to eat out and get a good taste because I’m pregnant . I love zhang bistro but I never expected to be harrased and followed by Andrew

Very good service in a nice and lively restaurant. The vibe is great, and the drinks are very good. The items I tried were fresh and delicious. The fried pot stickers had a nice filling and good sauce. Shrimp soup was excellent! Tried the crawfish fried rice, different and very tasty.

We had a delightful dinner at Zhang Bistro; it was the first time we’ve not ordered takeout. The food was flavorful; I ordered pad Thai and my spouse ordered the kung pao combo. Both were slightly sweeter than expected, but we easily remedied that with a dash or two of chili oil. We started with the fresh rolls—very good—and the spicy garlic edamame—superb! Oh, and the old fashioned is really special. We will be back to support this delightful French Quarter corner!

We celebrated an early father's day at Zhang Bistro. Everything that we ordered was delicious. Our drink was pineapple mojioto 🍹🤤🤤. Pad thai was delightful, but my favorite was the general tso beef option. Meat was tender fried to a perfect consistency, and sauce was authentic, which made top notch. We also tried ragoons, wonton, and egg drop soups. I can't wait to try this place again. 💝

I will never be able to eat any other asian food and enjoy it again. I cannot articulate how good this place is. The potstickers and fried cheese wonton (with their sauces) are the best we've ever had. The pepper steak was out of this world. Poured onto a sizzling platter at tables ideal. I could barely take a photo. It had the lens all fogged up. The best! The sweet and sour chicken actually had peppers and pineapple with it. You hardly see that anymore. Perfect amount of breading. So nice for a change. Do not hesitate to get the egg fried rice with onions. Delightful! Our server (cannot remember her name! Sorry!) was very knowledgeable and just awesome! This is a gem and has ruined us going forward. All future asian food will be held to these standards. Oh and the egg pork egg rolls were also excellent. What a find! Never knew basil lemonade was so tasty!

Very nice and welcoming establishment. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. The fried rice with soy sauce and beef with general tso sauce was delicious. Yudha provided such great service, very attentive and making sure everything was going great. With the construction so close by, this place could be easily missed, but don’t pass up the opportunity to dine in. The music was also nice and at a comfortable volume and it’s one of the quieter restaurants in the area which is a plus. The cream cheese wontons were also a great appetizer!

Zhang is my favorite french quarter restaurant. Every time I'm in the neighborhood, I make sure to stop in for dinner. I've even had my birthday party there more than once, and the staff has kindly refrigerated my cake for me and even served it with plates and forks. They're always welcoming and kind and the food comes out quick, even on busy nights. They have a respectable vegan/vegetarian menu, including my favorite--general Tso's tofu, which is hard to find! It's done with a lovely deep fried crisp with the most amazing spicy sweet sauce and fresh broccoli. Their thai curries are delicious, especially the red. Their apps are great too. LOVE the roti and the tofu spring rolls. The drunken noodles with tofu are another fave and you can customize the spice level. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood! They're still open during the construction, though they are sort of hidden behind the fences.

Sun Chong is a vibrant and welcoming black-owned establishment with a great vibe. The hip hop music, beautiful decor, and excellent service create an inviting atmosphere. The menu offers unique dishes like 'fish in a boat' and gumbo dumplings that are absolute showstoppers. The staff, including Michael and Leo, provide exceptional service, making visitors feel welcome and comfortable throughout their visit.
Great food and an excellent vibe! Our server Daniella was super helpful and the food came out quick. There were only a few veggie options but all of them were tasty. The veggie fried rice was my favorite. The Seoul margarita was delicious and I saw them serving smoked cocktails at the bar. I'll have to try that next time!

My husband and I stopped here during a short business trip because a colleague recommended it. Food and atmosphere were excellent. New Orleans has a lot of folks working in the service industry, so people in restaurants do seem to be super-friendly and accommodating just about anywhere you go. This was different. Our server elevated what was already excellent. My first time in New Orleans, my first time at this restaurant—but Oowaue (Wé) made us feel like we were being welcomed for a meal in a long-time friend’s home. I got the Sun Chong chicken wings and the sauce was so flavorful that I know I will be dreaming of these wings until I return. The gumbo dumplings were such a unique savory fusion of cultures and flavors—a must. Hubby had a crawfish po’ boy with fries. I had a tiny bit of the crawfish and it was breaded and fried, yet the crawfish remained tender. Not every place gets the po’ boy right—I’ve had a couple elsewhere in the south that were overcooked or a little rubbery. Thank you Wé for the phenomenal service and a memorable experience.

Friday lunch date! Street parking was full but luckily there’s a paid parking lot right next to the W hotel which is a 2 minute walk to the restaurant. Inside is really small but nicely decorated with an Asian flair. Now the outside weather was a little cool which made inside COLD! The AC was blasting! My poor hubby had bumps on his arms. The music was a nice hip hop mix. The service seamed a bit slow. Outside of that we enjoyed. We started with the crab Rangoon dip. This was decent. It was hot, fresh, and straight out of the oven. The chips were really good. The sweet chili sauce was a nice complement. I felt the crab dip was a bit dry. It should’ve been cheesier. I had a Lychee Dragonfruit mocktail and this was delicious! Nice and sweet. My husband had the Honey Hennessy drink and he enjoyed it. For entrees we had the fried chicken with crawfish rice and the glazed salmon dish. Both meals were good but the crawfish rice stole the show! The salmon was cooked perfectly, a slight crisp on the top with a slight sweet touch. The fried chicken was seasoned just right and fried crispy. I would definitely return to try other items.

We really enjoyed the food here. The gumbo dumplings were delicious. We also had the ribs, lettuce wraps and brussel sprouts. Everything was so good. The music was a bit loud for our liking and made it difficult to talk sometimes but otherwise everything was great.

We loved the food. The shrimp fried rice was tasty. The seafood gumbo was to my daughter’s liking and the lettuce wrap was light yet flavorful. The crab Rangoon dip was everything. I would come back for that.

Service was amazing, do yourself a huge favor and get the short ribs omg!!! Comes with sticky or fried rice. Its pricey about $50, but the portion is huge and the flavor is beyond perfect. The small bits of fat were rendered down and the meat was very tender. Almost like eating beef candy, i mean just look at my pics!

My first visit was disappointing. My main entree the “Special Ramen” noodles were mushy (overcooked). My server Ashlynn helped by bringing me the replacement choice, which was the bulgolgi bao. The meat was tasty. But i couldn’t enjoy the meal because the bao bun was hard as a rock. I had to send the bao bun back as well. The manager tried to solve the issue with the matcha cheese cake. But the cheese cake was frozen. The cake should have been thawed more. Everything had potential. But I couldn’t physically eat anything. Thank you Ashlynn for addressing my need the best way she could!

I ordered the potstickers and spring rolls, which were good, but nothing special as one reviewer mentioned. I also ordered the Tom Yum soup and when it came out, it initially smelled very tomato and shrimpy, which was a turn off. But to as my surprise, it was very delicious. I also ordered the basil eggplant with chicken chosen as the protein. You can choose the level of heat which is customary in Thai restaurants. This dish was very tasty. However, it did not have much chicken in it and even less eggplant shame on the restaurant for this I would not have known it had any eggplant in it if I didn’t order it myself, I don’t suspect eggplants cost that much. The atmosphere was a little on the loud side by the way, I am not old lol but I would suggest some kind of sound absorbers. The service was nice and the restaurant itself was decorated nicely and had a good vibe.

I love trying out Thai food in different locations as it’s one of my go to cuisine .. and am glad that this place did not disappoint when it comes to the taste of the food… had Penang curry and it was yummy.. what surprised me the most was this amazing Tom Yum margarita!! This was simply Awesome but only try if you like spicy.. they added tom yum paste on the rim of the glass and added a chilly to spice things up… simply amazing… The service could have been better as we kept waiting for the server to stop by to take order or for any other help but overall no complaints on the food front. So if you like Thai food, and if you are in NOLA then do try out this location… especially their cocktails :-)

China Rose in Metairie offers a mix of classic Chinese dishes and authentic specialties in a simple setting. While some Chinese restaurants may offer traditional dishes on both their regular and Chinese menus, China Rose has unique items that can only be found on the latter, making it a great place for adventurous eaters. The restaurant is known for its fresh and generous portions, with homemade egg rolls that are not greasy but delicious.
Ask for the Chinese menu obviously if you want authentic. I had the cold duck and it was fantastic. Also the pea sprouts are also fantastic. The beef and tripe was a little sweet for my taste.

This may be a hidden jewel. Pretty nice little restaurant hiding in an isolated area. Friendly staff. We were offered two sets of menus - a regular Americanized menu and another one with only authentic Chinese dishes printed in both Mandarin and English. We took the authentic menu and I was very impressed with their variety. Highly recommend: 1) West Lake beef soup (西湖牛肉羹, which was lightly seasoned that we love), 2) cumin lamb ribs (孜然羊排 my husband's fav), and 3) stir-fry greens (清炒豌豆苗 my personal fav). Not our favs but still good: 4) Eggplant with sweet sauce (鱼香茄子), and 5) some pork belly dish (虎皮肉). Sorry that I forgot the English name but I took a picture. The last two were a bit too sweet for us, so next time I'll try the other eggplant dish with fresh garlic without sweet sauce.

Dining at China Rose is always a delight! I go with friends and eat family style, enjoying a variety of Sichuan dishes off the Chinese menu. We love the sliced fish & pickle soup, stir fried string beans (that come with delicious fried ginger), eggplant in hot garlic sauce, crispy fish fillet (with salt and pepper seasoning); and for meat eaters, the pan fried pork dumplings! 10/10 For both service and quality. ⭐️ Can’t wait to come back!

Possibly the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The egg drop soup was half cornstarch and yolk. The Mongolian beef was so salty. In contrast to the generals shrimp which was all sugar and grease. I just wanted to try this place because I've heard so many good things about it. Yuk! Never again.

As a frequent customer from China who has consistently brought friends and colleagues to dine here, I’m deeply disappointed by today’s unacceptable experience. Moments after our food arrived, just as we were about to begin eating, a server abruptly interrupted us to ask if we "still needed our plates"—while simultaneously snatching away our napkins without consent. This is NOT standard fine-dining etiquette anywhere in the world. In decades of dining globally, I’ve never witnessed such disrespectful timing: interrupting guests mid-meal to clear untouched tableware, while confiscating essential items (napkins) still in active use. This wasn’t mere clumsiness—it was actively hostile service. If this reflects restaurant policy, management has abandoned professionalism entirely. We left feeling humiliated and rushed. Once again, not recomended👎

The bean curd pork thing and the eggplant pork dish and the chili oil fish are things I continue to crave and dream about I'm so sad they don't do free shipping with Uber One. Unlimited rice is a lovely plus. This place is great. I would bring my immigrant parents here and that's saying something.

Hit the spot the tummy. Good food, great service, reasonably priced for serving, made my day. Chicken Fried Rice, Pork & Shrimp Eggroll, Chicken Mandarin with sauce on the side, Veggie fried rice with Tofu and Fried Wonton's. Pickup order, the staff was jolly in a positive mode especially after Hurricane Ida just hit.

Nestled behind a gas station on Airline Drive, Banh Mi Boys is a delightful sandwich haven that beautifully marries Vietnamese flavors with the rich culinary traditions of New Orleans. This charming spot, run by first-generation Vietnamese American siblings, offers an array of mouthwatering options including classic po boys made with Leidenheimer bread and traditional banh mi served on Dong Phuong baguettes. The menu showcases unique creations like Bo Kho debris and Vietnamese fried chicken banh mi, reflecting a creative fusion of both cultures.
Some of the reviews didn't give the KFC Spicy Tofu Bahn Mi a good rating, but I went for it anyway, and I was happy I did. It wasn't mind blowing, but it was satisfying and I was happy I got it. Their French fries were fantastic, easily the best ones I've had in town so far. I was happy I stopped in a whim for lunch.

Wanted some light fresher food after the same old stuff. Very friendly staff. Made great recommendations and were accommodating. The grilled pork banh mi was delicious along the bmb. Just what I was looking for. We are mayo fiends so we had them add some kewpie to each. Got a side of grilled pork spring rolls and crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was good but maybe a little bland or one note. Regardless, still great food all around.

Banh Mi Boys – Cute Spot, But the Food Missed the Mark Banh Mi Boys is tucked into a charming, gentrified neighborhood and definitely scores points for aesthetics—it’s a cute, cool spot that draws you in with its trendy vibe. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. Let’s start with the egg rolls. It’s hard to ignore the overwhelming taste of freezer burn, which lingered far too long after the bite. The spring rolls were fresher, but the meat inside was overly salty, which threw off the balance you’d typically expect in a roll. The Thai tea was another letdown. It had the color and the sweetness, but almost no tea flavor—more like vaguely tea-flavored milk. As for the grilled pork noodle salad—well, it was missing the noodles, which was a surprise (and not the good kind). The cucumber had a bitter edge, likely from the unpeeled skin, and the pork was both dry and aggressively salty, which overpowered everything else on the plate. Overall, while the space was inviting and the concept is promising, the execution really needs work. There’s potential here, but the flavors and freshness just weren’t there.

I had a great experience here. I ordered a Surprise Box through the Too Good to Go app, which lets you buy leftover food at a reduced price at the end of the day so it doesn’t go to waste. I was given the Honey Sriracha Shrimp Bahn Mi as my surprise, and it was so amazingly delicious!!! It is exactly what I would’ve ordered if I had dined-in, which is so lucky. I will definitely return with friends to try more menu items.

First time here, came on Eater New Orleans recommendation. The service was great, I could order from both the counter/cashier or the touch screen computer (which I appreciate the options). Great location on magazine. Unfortunately food was mediocre and I won't be back, it did not live up to Eater's recommendation

Fantastic spot for a quick bite. I’m honestly surprised at some of the reviews, but noticing a theme that most of the bad reviews were ordered via a delivery service. Dining in, the experience is great. Ordered and received our meal extremely quick. Everything was served hot and fresh. The chicken katsu banh mi is phenomenal. The spring rolls and vermicelli are also great. If you’re going to review a spot, do the restaurant a favor and dine in. You won’t regret it here.

This was my first time at Banh Mi Boys and what caught my attention was their unique menu. They have a wide variety of sandwiches, loaded fries, wings, and more. Basically if you’ve never been, their sandwiches are like a Vietnamese twist on a Southern Po-boy. I tried the new chef special which is not currently listed on the menu, but if you ask about it you’ll be able to order it. My sandwich was flavorful, filling, & most of all delicious. If your tastebuds are looking to try something different, I highly recommend trying out this establishment. 💋

SukhoThai is a sleek and contemporary Thai eatery that offers classic Thai dishes, cocktails, and vegan options. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients to create some of the best Thai cuisine in town. From fiery curries to fragrant stir-fries with Thai basil, the menu has something for everyone. SukhoThai is known for its accommodating service and gluten-free options due to the rarity of flour in traditional Thai cooking.
Most favorite Thai restaurant till date!!! The ambience was amazing. Perfect place for a date. The service was on point and our waitress was very kind and thoughtful to understand the kind of spice level we were looking for and she served the food pretty quick. It was hot and delicious. We ordered pineapple fried rice and cashew nut with chicken which was served with Thai rice. Spent around $50-$60 including drinks. Overall go here if you want to have authentic Thai food with great ambience.

The food here was very good. We had edamame, chicken curry spice level 4, vegetables fresh rolls, and pad Thai. The servers were very nice. Ours server just never checked on us. We also waited about 15 minutes for our check. After we found her we just asked if she would bring us the tab. She was very nice just not attentive. I would visit this restaurant again. The food was great and reasonably priced. We walked to this restaurant, I don’t recall seeing a parking lot but I could be wrong.

Sukho Thai has always been a favorite spot for me so I went to check out the October $1.75 Martini Special and it blew me away! The drinks were amazing and scary strong in the best way, and the food? STILL OBSESSED 🙌🏽 Their Tom kah soup always has me hooked and I can never resist the Seafood Hot Pot 🙌🏽 Run, don’t walk, before it’s gone! And tell Maria, the hostess with the Mostest I said thanks for adding Dragon Puffs to my list of favorites ☺️

Over twenty years ago, my husband and I stumbled upon this excellent family owned Thai restaurant in New Orleans, and we have been coming here ever since. Whenever we visit the city, We make sure we visit one of our favorite restaurants. We have traveled the world and tried many Thai restaurants, and time and time again, this restaurant holds a special place in our hearts. It’s one of the best, if not THE BEST, Thai restaurant we have ever had. If you’re craving authentic Thai cuisine in New Orleans, SukhoThai’s Elysian Fields location is a hidden gem that consistently delivers bold flavors, generous portions, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Nestled just steps away from the French Quarter, this spot captures the energy of downtown and the elegance of traditional Thai cooking. SukhoThai offers a cozy, intimate vibe with tasteful Thai inspired decor gold accents, carved wood, and soft lighting make it a great setting for casual dinners and date nights. An elevated Thai dining experience in a relaxed, neighborhood setting. Whether you’re a spice lover, a curry enthusiast, or simply looking for a comforting bowl of noodles, this place delivers consistently and deliciously. Service is professional, warm, and attentive. Our lovely waitress knows the menu well and is great at helping guests navigate spice levels and recommendations. It’s clear the team takes pride in both the food and the guest experience. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Supreeya, and the Chef. Supreeya generously offered us a taste of one of her favorite appetizers, a traditional Thai sausage with onions, cabbage, cucumber, and pork rinds in dipping sauce. It was delicious! When visiting New Orleans, this Thai restaurant is a MUST!!! The menu is expansive and impressively authentic. A few standouts from our most recent visits: Panko Softshell Crab Softshell crab deep-fried in Asian bread crumbs, with/ spring greens, spicy garlic aioli, and mango tomato chutney. Crispy Tofu ( Vegan) Fried tofu strips served with plum dipping sauce and ground peanuts. Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) Bangkok-style spicy street food.  Wide rice noodles with/ fresh chilies, galangal, garlic, peppercorn & basil, stir-fried in light soy sauce with/ red bell, green beans, onion, carrot, cabbage, and tender beef meat. Packed with heat and flavor—ask for “medium” unless you’re ready for serious spice. Panang Curry Beef A mildly spicy aromatic Panang curry with your protein of choice, zucchini, green beans, bell pepper, and sweet basil, topped with fresh coconut milk and garnished with lime leaves. It's rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right level of coconut sweetness and herbal depth. And for beverages we opted for Lychee Martinis 🍸

Walked here from our hotel for dinner and the food was delicious. We ordered a couple of rolls, one was on the specials menu, the Black and Gold roll and I can’t remember the name of the rest but they were all very tasty. A nice upscale sushi restaurant with friendly staff. My only complaint is that we saw a large roach or possibly a cricket crawling on the floor as we were paying the bill. Luckily, we were done eating. To their defense, there is a lot of shrubbery and bushes nearby the door so I don’t think it’s a cleanliness issue. However it was unsettling. Still recommend giving it a try.

We needed a break from French Quarter food on our vacation and walked to Tsunami Sushi. Happy Hour 3-6pm, Monday after Mother’s Day. Plenty tables open and my friend and I sat at the bar. Food was exactly what we needed and at Happy Hour price, it was even better. Fish was fresh and the truffle salmon was something I’ve never heard of, but would order again! They also seared our nigiri upon request, med rare. I wish there was $1.50 nigiri where I lived! Ruby was an excellent bartender/server and really made our experience too-notch and elevated. I typically don’t leave bad reviews, but we received extremely slow service on some very basic sushi orders when the restaurant was near empty on a monday night. Then, we saw a mouse running across the floor with no reaction from staff. At some places I can understand that mice are a reality, but when I pay $100 for a meal, I don’t expect to wonder if a mouse has defecated on something being served to me. No chance that I would return here unless I’m sure that this has been fixed. Truly upsetting because their calamari was actually pretty good.

Sushi restaurant
Viet Orleans Bistro is a Vietnamese restaurant serving a range of Asian dishes, alongside happy hours and TVs. It's a great place to start your trip to Louisiana, as the food is similar to what you would find in Vietnam. The banh mi was especially good, and you can't go wrong with sushi!
The restaurant is very clean, and feels trendy, that's actually my only knock on the atmosphere just a little too polished. Food was very good, the service was great. Constant attention. The sushi was fresh and tasted good. This was really a 4.7 but it's five or four so round up. The draft beer was a little warm for my taste. I was shocked at how few people were in the restaurant, but it was a nice change from most of the other places around it. I'll come back. If you don't know that eel sauce is the go to for sushi, all for a side, and thank me later.

Our overall experience was very good at VOB. Service was good, very few people were dining as we ate an early dinner. The sushi was good and seemed very fresh. The fried rice was a little different. Appeared to be a fried sushi rice and was sticky. Wasn't bad, just different. The Crab Rangoon was very good. Cleanliness was good. I would return for sushi only!

The food was good but the service was exceptional. My husband wanted pho after eating fried food all week. He was pleasantly surprised ans I absolutely loved my pork Banh MI. The place is super cute and relaxing. I'm glad we chose to eat here.

Great place for to go. Long day of drinking I was starving!! Ordered the Combo Pho to go just before they closed - right across from my fabulous hotel “the NOPSI”. Picked it up minutes later and the food was piping hot. Came in a to-go bowl. What was amazing was that the noodles & meat were in a separate layer/shelf — so didn’t get soaked in the pho. All the steak was in separate packet; and the greens were perfect. YES I finished the entire bowl. 🥣 I let my husband have a sip of the soup but I ate the rest. It was a perfect ending. Highly recommended.
D L — Google review
Food was okay not a lot of flavor especially the fried rice. Price was a bit high too but it is the only Vietnamese place in close distance and staff are nice. Still worth trying maybe the pho or pad Thais are great but the fried rice was underwhelming and so were the drumsticks.
Adati T — Google review
After one of our first nights in town, we felt like ordering in so we settled on some Vietnamese food. I had the chicken vermicelli, my boyfriend had the chicken stir fry noodles, & with sushi and egg rolls as appetizers. We were really happy with the portion sizes as well as everything tasting great as if we were at the bistro itself. The menu is simple yet has plenty of choices depending on what you're feeling up for.
Simran M — Google review
Randomly stopped by cause it was close to the hotel and the reviews had me worried. Immediately greeted and it’s a sit anywhere you want. Prompt service and friendly. The space is plentiful and it wasn’t very busy. I ordered Shrimp Spring Rolls and they were decent. Plenty of shrimp and the peanut sauce was good. Lot of noodle filling but I prefer mine with extra herbs anyway so low expectations there. Accompaniments were fresh slices jalapeños, bean sprouts, basil, cilantro and lime wedges. I ordered Rare Eye Round, Brisket and Meatball Pho. The rare eye round didn’t come out by itself .. it was already cooked well in the pho. The broth itself wasn’t as flavorful as I would prefer but after fixing it some, it really wasn’t bad. You get two meatballs cut into halves and the brisket was blah. I will visit again if I’m at the same hotel.

Solid Pho. Broth on the meaty side but good. Plenty of meat in the soup. I’m giving it an extra star for being the only noodle soup spot in the area. Good service. Nice spot and location

Little Korea BBQ is a casual-chic spot in NOLA that offers authentic Korean fare, including tableside barbecued meats. Despite initial skepticism, the restaurant pleasantly surprised a Korean food enthusiast with its well-executed cuisine. The quaint KBBQ spot provides great food and excellent service, although some find the meat prices a bit high. Diners can enjoy dishes like baked corn cheese and SoonDooBoo JjiGae soup while also having the option to add pork.
I love Korean style restaurants and this one has a nice variety of dishes and well prepared meats and more than the usual number of banchan. I like that I can piece together a typical Korean meal with all the components here, but it would be nice if they constructed a couple of options for a solitary eater as well. Still, good food, hospitality and setting.

Food is ok, nothing stands out particularly. Got the bibimbap, bossam, and kids got the katsu. Bibimbap was ok, little on the oily side Bossam was good but it's not very traditionally Korean style Katsu was fried pretty well kids enjoyed this dish Service was really good probably the most memorable thing on our visit her It was nice to visit but probably won't come again

The food was good but I felt it could have been better. Maybe if we go back we'll cook our own. The wings were way too spicy, rice cakes were a little too sweet but good, short ribs tough but flavor good, idk... come try for yourself lol

Decided to treat myself to an absolute feast for my birthday. The rice cakes are exactly what I needed, so delicious. Next time I’ll try it with cheese instead of egg, the egg was good I think I just assumed it would be a softer boiled egg. The kimbap was a great price during lunch, also very tasty.

The spicy rice cake was so good, it wasn't too spicy but just the right amount of spice. I had fried rice with egg and it was really good. But my favorite was the spicy BBQ chicken wings, it was soo good. It was sweet and spicy, it was like the sauce was candied and put on the chicken. It was crunchy and hot, 100% recommend. My mother loved the oxtail too! It was falling off the bone. The waiter was really nice. Lovely atmosphere

Ordered a lot of food through DoorDash but the restaurant didn’t prepare a third of our order. They also gave us such a small amount of jajangmyeon, less amount than a top ramen. The quality and quantity of all the food was so poor, I couldn’t believe it. Highly recommend not ordering take out.

This place is a vibe. Best food I had for a 2 day trip. Didn't do my own cooking, had the kitchen staff do that part and it was amazing. I fully recommend this place but couple of things first before you go. The wait time for food if the kitchen is cooking is long. Like so long I thought they forgot about us but then again we were hungry. The smell in the air makes you hungry as soon as u walk in. Second very affordable, they had a party when I was there so was a bit noisy but that food made up for all the negative things that happened all day. Just writing this post makes me feel like taking a weekend trip again. I will definitely be back.

Bratz Y'all! Bistro • Bakery • Biergarten is a casual beer garden located in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans, offering traditional German food and beers. The outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying the lovely weather, playing games like cornhole, or listening to live music.
I just got the bee sting cake and their soft pretzel, but both had me in awe with how good they were. That cake is probably one of the best cakes I've ever had, insanely soft and moist with a great honey flavor that wasn't overpowering. The pretzel also slaps -- amazing crusty exterior, soft interior, perfectly and evenly salted, and tastes great (also it's bigger than my face). Best part is, it's only $4 during Happy Hour. I've really got to try their other items, but just these two non-entrees (and the really friendly staff) have made me a big fan.

Located on the Bywater area next to the 9th, sits an unassuming Biergarten surrounded by this industrial area. The setting is inviting with indoor and outdoor places that must work well in any season. Food is authentic and there’s a good selection of German beers to complement the big servings (yes!, bring your appetite). Service is pleasant and very friendly. I was delighted to see the attendant’s care towards a beautiful family’s dog and how much of this attention made this family enjoy the great food. Try their goulash, it’s a five star flavorful dish, or the chicken schnitzel, nice breaded and perfectly cooked maintaining its juiciness. A perfect place to gather with a group of friends and family.

Oh my goodness. I don't even know where to start. What a hidden gem! We were visiting New Orleans and I was on the hunt for a dog friendly place. This restaurant popped up and I love German food, so I begged my husband to go before we left town. It's a tiny little place with several places to sit inside and picnic tables outside. I ordered the Jager schnitzel with spaetzle and cabbage and my husband had Rindergulash with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. (And a pretzel with dipping sauces) You know how when you're eating a meal, and eventually it just gets boring toward the end and you're ready to stop eating? Well, this did NOT happen. Every bite was just as delicious as the first bite! We ALMOST finished everything but had a little bit left over. The portions are generous and the flavor is just sooo sooo good! My pup agreed! (And they even gave him a dog treat for the trip home) Unfortunately shortly after leaving, our tire went completely flat on the interstate. We pulled off to an exit and proceeded to get the spare put on and eventually a new tire from the dealership. This took hours! Thankfully, our amazing lunch held us over until we got home! If you haven't been here, you should! We will definitely come again the next time we are in town!! Tschüss! We will be back soon!

i’ve been wanting to go for a while and it did not disappoint! we got the warm pretzel, a chicken schnitzel, and a bavarian brat (their most standard one) - the chicken schnitzel and the hot potato salad were the highlight for me the vibe on their patio was SO cute; it was quiet and charming when we went, but i imagine it would be a great happy hour spot too

This place advertises a happy hour outside and then doesn't honor it, since it's "only from Tuesday to Friday" (today is Saturday). According to the waitress it was written on there in Sharpie, which "must have come off". Check out the photo yourself. Must have been the most water soluble Sharpie ever... I suggested for them to take down the sign or actually write the conditions on there. I expected for them to apologize and let us have the offer – but none of the sort happened unfortunately.

Nestled in the heart of New Orleans, Mikimoto Restaurant is a delightful haven for lovers of Japanese cuisine. This cozy spot has been serving up authentic dishes since 1999, making it a beloved staple in the community. While their menu boasts an array of traditional Japanese fare, it's the sushi that truly shines here. The Omakase experience is particularly noteworthy, allowing diners to indulge in a curated selection of premium sushi and sashimi crafted by skilled chefs.
Eaten here twice now and I guess I forgot to leave a review, shame on me! Awesome sushi, had the deluxe, tiger, mango mania, and yellow dragon roll... All great in their own right but if you love mango then mango mania, a little something special you never thought of the yellow dragon roll with the tease from the lemon, a little crunch then the deluxe, and a classic wherever you go with the tiger. Let us not forgot an honorable mention when available, uni! Typically my phone does not eat first but took a picture of the uni just for the review. Nonetheless I can vouch for the sushi and bravo, it's done well!

Chinese restaurant
Bao & Noodle is a cozy and vibrant restaurant located in New Orleans, known for its delectable hand-pulled noodles meant for sharing. Chef Hao Gong showcases his expertise in Japanese and Chinese cuisines, offering a diverse menu that includes raw fish dishes with unique pairings like cucumber and yuzu vinegar, as well as comforting Shanghai favorites such as dumplings, dan dan noodles, and bam bam chicken. The restaurant's ambiance is warm and inviting, providing a delightful dining experience.
Edited 11/30/19 to add that the new space is fantastic!!!! Congrats!!!! The closest thing to NYC Chinese in Nola. Nothing fancy in terms of decor, but the server was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The meal was delicious. We tried two appetizers that were the daily special.. Sweet and sour spareribs with the most amazing pickly cucumber cilantro concoction on top followed by shrimp and pork pan fried dumplings. Both were stellar. For dinner we split Dan Dan noodles and the lamb noodle dish. Both were fresh noodles cut and made to order. The Dan Dan noodles were dense and chewy, the noodles on the Dan Dan dish were more soft and doughy. Really delicious and plenty of good for $40. Updated to add: Still top notch. You will never be disappointed with ordering their daily bun, dumpling or bao either.

The food was very good, full of flavor but very salty. Ambiance was nice. I can't say much about the service as it is mostly self-service (grab your own napkin/water, glass, and order food at the counter). A smile or two might have helped, but amen.

On God this place could make a no clothes dress code policy and I’d be bumper to bumper in line trying to get In to smack down on these home made noodles and bao. I was gently perusing the negative comment section and I gotta say… I’m afraid to walk outside knowing there’s ppl among us who could slip a slice of heaven in their mouths and complain. The pork belly, the salad.. steamed bao and I gotta stop… then the lady who took my order had a smile that could lead a blind man to the door. If they’d be open like a normal restaurant I’d give 6 stores.

Cozy spot to grab some excellent bao. I also had the Dan Dan noodles and my boyfriend had the pork belly. Overall the food was good but the bao was definitely the star of the show. I enjoyed the texture of the noodles however the sauce (under the bed of noodles) didn't have the depth of flavor I was hoping for after trying the bao. Overall it was a good meal. I will be back for more bao!

Food was delicious! I love the Louisiana twist this Asian Fusion restaurant creates. Everything was so yummy, will go again for sure! Ask for the Tea Egg as an extra (not listed on menu)- it is devine!

The was better than expected. The atmosphere was great and homey. Definitely would recommend this place for a cool date or a get together with friends. Byob is always cool as well. The waitress was cool polite and down to earth.
Lorenzo H — Google review
Artisanal Asian, with noodles, buns, and foods made from scratch. It’s a noticeable upgrade from pedestrian, run-of-the-mill Asian food aimed at the masses. The bao are legitimately crisp on the bottom while pillowy on the interior, with an unctuous pork filling. Hand cut, chewy Dan Dan noodles had great texture and a complimentary sauce that manages to satisfy without overpowering. I’ll be back to explore more on this menu.

In town for a wedding reception, and really wanted some fresh noodles. And Bao and Noodle delivered! Just got an order of Bao and the Cumin Lamb Biang Biang noodles. Beyond amazing! Flavor was fantastic and yummy and so worth it to go out of the way to visit this little place.

Sushi restaurant
Restaurant
Royal Sushi & Bar is a laid-back Japanese restaurant in New Orleans, known for its classic dishes, hibachi rice, and innovative sushi rolls. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of authentic and fresh Japanese cuisine, including a variety of sushi and ramen options. The ambiance is inviting with ample seating, making it suitable for both casual and formal dining experiences. With excellent service and flavorful dishes, the restaurant's sushi rolls are particularly popular.
This sushi restaurant has been on my list forever. I always pass it headed to/fro Frenchman at off times of the night. Could not pass up birthday dinner invite. They mackerel so I was happy. They tried and enjoyed my salmon skin, gave them ideas of what to do with leftovers at home. The twister roll was good as well. The miso soup was decent, didn't try the hello kitty, but it was the table's favorite. California and spicy tuna were good, and most of us liked the spicy tonkatsu ramen. I tried to not go crazy, we ordered for the table. The mackerel was up to par, so I was satisfied. The ramen was a surprise, I'd order that for myself. I'll have to make more of an effort to return.

This restaurant was hands down the highlight of my trip and the perfect spot for a memorable date night. Every dish exceeded expectations, but the spicy edamame was by far my favorite. The flavor was the perfect balance of spicy and garlicky, simply outstanding. The service was exceptional, showing a genuine care for their customers and a dedication to perfecting every dish. The fish was incredibly fresh and delicious, and I loved that they offered ponzu sauce, which is my absolute favorite. The martini was perfectly crafted, with amazing flavor, and the yellowtail jalapeño was both beautiful and packed with flavor. Every single dish was divine, and I will definitely be returning just for the spicy edamame. 10/10 – an unforgettable dinner experience!

Very nice warm and cozy spot. We sat at the bar, and Martin served us. He was very animated and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious along with hot sake . 😋 I think this is my new favorite 🍣 place!

I have been co.ing to this place for a few years now and have eaten a number of dishes that I've really enjoyed. This is the first time I ordered the fried rice and it wasn't very good. As you can see there was VERY little meat in the bowl of rice. It cost 17 dollars and I think they could have done so much better for that price. I noticed lately that a lot of restaurants are starting to do that these days and they're charging more. They don't need to make ut that obvious... 🙄🤐

Is review is comparing with a real Japanese taste. So the food and the place was good, not too expensive but it doesn’t taste like a japan ramen . Is a good taste tho 7.5 /10

I consider myself to be a fairly big sushi snob and always try to find a spot during my travels. Was I ever glad I came across Royal Sushi. Everything I had was incredible. The baked scallop roll (pictured) was A++. Will be returning if I ever make it back to NOLA.

Royal St. Sushi is my literal favorite place. The service, quality, and experience is always spot on for me whether it’s a casual Friday night date night or one of the nights during Deep Gras. I genuinely love this place.

If you're on the hunt for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. This vibrant eatery, whose name translates to "Horn of the Bull," offers a unique twist on traditional Japanese cuisine with its authentic yakiniku grilling style. Located in New Orleans, Gyu-Kaku invites diners to indulge in premium meats cooked right at their tables over flaming charcoal grills.
Man, did we eat a LOT when we were here. We were rolling out of there because we were so bloated! But it was because of the excellent amount and flavor of food that we ate. So much meat, I lost count of my calories. Excellent hot sake as well. Happy hour until 6pm. A little mishap, but the beers were not charged properly for the happy hour, but it was by $2 so no worries, it happens, I honestly am too introverted to bring these things up to waiters, although I should. My girlfriend should be the one to speak up (just like her mom does). But yeah, if you are a meat lover, literally get the meat lovers option for your meat. Meat meat meat. Hell yeah, happy new year.

My friend and I went to dinner last night and it was great. We got the bbq for 2 and the food had great taste. The service was amazing. My only complaint is that the portions are small
Karla — Google review
We were there for thanksgiving. We went to this chain in Tokyo. It is very similar!!! The service was great, we had the meat combo but next time we will order by plate. If you order by plate you can choose just the meat you like. It is not cheap but it is a nice experience. My husband had tap Japanese beer and it was just perfect, very cold.

I had the chance to dine at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in New Orleans, and it was a great experience overall. I ordered their ramen, and it was absolutely delicious — rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and packed with flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a relaxed meal, whether you're with friends or dining solo. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better with their accommodating service. The only downside is the limited parking, which can be a bit of a hassle. However, if you're staying at a nearby hotel, it's just a short walk away — definitely worth the effort for a great Japanese meal. Highly recommend if you're craving something warm, savory, and satisfying in the heart of New Orleans.

TRY THE MANGO TANGO. Our first drink of it was great, barely could taste the liquor. Second round was still good but not as much. Food was good, staff was helpful, and they have set options for big groups
Nadia M — Google review
This place is a great stop if you're looking to have a true experience on your date. While the service could have been a bit more attentive, the waiter was very polite and helpful when at the table. I personally found the edamame to be a little under seasoned, but overall the food was great! We really enjoyed the steak and basil chicken. There were one or two pork items that we didn't care for. The biggest downside to our visit was that we didn't receive any rice at our table until after we had already finished cooking all of our protein on the grill. This hampered the experience and left us not full when we left That said, the desserts were just next level. The molten lava cake, the red-bean paste filled fish, and the ice cream they served with both were just incredible. The dessert alone is worth for us to make another trip to this establishment! This was our first experience at this location and we absolutely plan to go back! We plan to order more beef and shrimp, but less pork for the grill. I hope all of the photos of their menu help everyone. Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ is absolutely worth a visit if you're visiting Nola and you're looking for something other than only Cajun food during your visit.

Phở Tầu Bay Restaurant is a beloved gem in the heart of downtown, where traditional Vietnamese flavors meet a modern ambiance. Since its inception in 1982, this local favorite has evolved from a cozy spot on the Westbank to an inviting space adorned with exposed-brick walls and sleek industrial design. The restaurant's rich history traces back to the 1960s when Karl Takacs fell for Tuyet, daughter of a renowned restaurateur in Saigon.
From out of town and this was the best food and friendliest service of the whole trip. Everything was delicious, the spring rolls were phenomenal! Definitely recommend it for something outside of the tourists trap restaurants and hope to make it back before leaving

This place was fine, honestly, but I was looking for amazing. I know NOLA has a large Vietnamese population, and as a pho connoisseur, I couldn't wait to find a local spot. This has the best reviews, but I was a little disappointed. The broth doesn't have much flavor - just salty. The chicken spring rolls were dry. It was a little bit of a let down. The staff were super friendly and it was very clean at least!!
Sara W — Google review
I have ate at this place for years. I miss the West Bank location, but I don’t mind driving downtown to eat at my most favorite place in the world. The owners know my voice over the phone. They know my order. I have literally enjoyed the food for twenty years. Great service and food EVERY TIME! Thanks so much guys!! From CM5 (highly recommend, you can even add grilled shrimp) no tomatoes, extra sauce!! Love you guys

I had a well done beef and sausage pho here before a show at the Saenger Theater. Spacious, well lit, and very clean space. The staff are very helpful and efficient. The pho and toppings were so fresh. Bathroom was super clean. Always a great sign of pride in cleanliness by staff and management.

Just wanted to say, this place is one of the best food I have had in a very long time. The Pho broth was phenomenal with the perfect notes of every spice put in. Highly recommend the Charbroiled Pork Bonh Mi. It reminded me like the ones we used to have in LA. AMAZING! My husband, my brother and I had such an wonderful conversation with the owner Carl were he made us feel so welcomed. He was so nice that he came out of his restaurant to helped us find a parking spot. Serves was amazing, very friendly, and welcoming. We honestly felt like family.

Walked over on my first day in New Orleans and greatly enjoyed my meal. I got the CM 12 and AP 14 to eat in the restaurant, and two banh mi to-go for lunches the next couple days. Everything was perfectly made and presented beautifully, and the flavors were so good. I absolutely hope to be back. Great experience.

05/28/2024: I always attempt to order/get Vietnamese food when I travel just to experience what it tastes like in that particular locale. I’m in NOLA for work and spotted Pho Tau Bay nearby with good reviews. I think it was at 4.6 when I looked them up on Google. I order a couple of dishes for dinner and work lunches. I got pho, banh mi, goi cuon, and xoi The pho had no aromatic or beefy flavors. It barely tasted like pho. The meat, noodles, and veggies were all standard. The broth was terribly disappointing. The xoi was okay and nothing particularly special. The banh mi was lacking meat, but the pate was surprisingly the tastiest part. The tofu goi cuon was also standard. I really liked the hoisin/peanut sauce. The food overall was mediocre and I would not go or order from Pho Tau Bay. I wanted to bring my work colleagues to this spot since it’s close to my work, but that is not going to happen. Also the prices were WAY HIGH. I don’t want to even say how much I paid with tip. I did appreciate the food arriving fast and packaged well.

Resort hotel
The Eliza Jane - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt is a beautifully restored hotel that occupies a historic 19th-century newspaper office, exuding charm and character. With its retro-chic accommodations, guests can enjoy modern amenities alongside unique design elements inspired by the building's rich history. The hotel features an inviting gym and a stylish atrium bar, perfect for unwinding after exploring the vibrant city of New Orleans.
Spent last weekend at The Eliza Jane to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. From the moment we arrived until we left, we had an amazing experience. The service was stellar, everyone was friendly, kind and resourceful. Every person we interacted with, from the gentleman who checked us in to the housekeepers were awesome. When making arrangements for his birthday, I reached out to the hotel and they kindly had a handwritten card and bubbles in the room for us. The locations is convenient and had no issues with getting ride shares or walking to many restaurants or coffee shops. Jerná and Megan were also a tremendous help at the Front Desk for our last day festivities, they provided the lay of the land and let us know what to look for and what we needed for where we were going. Their friendliness and enthusiasm to help us was very meaningful, we had a great last day in the city and they graciously arranged us a cab to head to the airport. I will recommend The Eliza Jane to anyone I know visiting the city and will be staying there in the future.
Lauren L — Google review
Our stay at The Eliza Jane was overall enjoyable, but the AC situation made it uncomfortable at night. We stayed in a suite — the room itself was beautiful, and the location was amazing. However, the air conditioning only worked well in the living area with the couches, not in the bedroom. Our room was right next to the Eliza Jane sign, so we had a great view, but the lack of proper cooling in the bedroom was frustrating. If you’re planning to stay here, I’d recommend bringing a small fan just in case! On a positive note, the bar was a solid 10/10. The bartender remembered his customers even after just one visit, which was such a nice touch. Drinks were very affordable (for reference, a Jack and Coke was $12), and the bar food was surprisingly great — my fiancé especially loved the crispy shrimp. The vibe downstairs was fantastic. The restaurant, however, didn’t have much variety for breakfast, and the coffee was really disappointing — it tasted like water 😭. Overall, I would stay again because of the location, the atmosphere, and the bar, but I’d definitely be cautious about the AC since that was the biggest downside for me.
Victoria L — Google review
I honestly don't know if words can do this review justice. From the moment we arrived at The Eliza Jane, it was clear this wasn't just another hotel, it was an experience. We arrived a little early, so our room wasn't quite ready, but the valet staff immediately helped unload our car and brought everything into the lobby. The woman at the front desk was incredibly warm and accommodating, offering to store our bags and have them delivered to our room once it was ready. She also took the time to recommend local spots for food and sightseeing, steering us toward some real New Orleans gems rather than tourist traps. While waiting, we explored the hotel itself, and that alone was worth the trip. As an author with a deep love for Art Deco design, I was completely captivated. Every corner of The Eliza Jane tells a story. The library area, with its timeless charm, and the intricate architectural details throughout the first floor made it feel like stepping into a beautifully restored piece of history. The courtyard was lovely and full of character, though it was a bit warm that time of year, so we didn't linger long. Still, it was easy to imagine spending a quiet morning there with coffee on a cooler day. When we finally stepped into our suite, it took my breath away. From the elegant foyer to the inviting living room, serene bedroom, and luxurious bathroom: every detail had been thought through with care and sophistication. Our bags were already waiting for us, perfectly placed in the foyer. I remember thinking, "This hotel may have ruined all others for me." The level of comfort, design, and hospitality truly set a new standard. Later that evening, we stopped back down for dinner suggestions. The gentleman at the desk gave us excellent recommendations for places locals actually love. It felt like having an insider's guide to the city. And then there was the shower room. Spacious, serene, and complete with a soaking tub...it was the highlight of the suite and the perfect way to unwind after exploring the city. You can see it for yourself in my photos and video, but trust me, it's even more beautiful in person. The Eliza Jane combines timeless elegance, thoughtful service, and authentic New Orleans charm in a way few hotels ever manage. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I return.

This is the nicest hotel I have stayed at in our multiple trips to New Orleans. It is beautiful, charming, inviting and cozy. There are many spots to enjoy inside this property. The location is just about perfect. It's located close to most of the major tourist attractions. The service was top notch as well. We had an amazing experience with every employee that we encountered in our four days here. We will most definitely stay here again upon our return to New Orleans.

I stayed at the Eliza Jane for a short getaway with a friend. We could not have picked a better hotel. The location was perfect but more importantly the staff was first rate. They displayed professional hospitality with great attention to detail. Elise Samuels was especially helpful to us. She went the extra mile always with a smile and calm spirit. Thank you. When I’m in the city again, I will be back
Sarah J — Google review
Excellent location just far enough outside the front quarter for it to be quiet at night for sleeping but close enough that it’s an easy walk over for all of the activities and nighttime entertainment. Hotel staff are great helpful and kind. Our courtyard view room was excellent. There was a separate front seating area and the bedroom was utterly quiet and great for sleeping.
Mike S — Google review
We’ve stayed at several Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts and had high expectations — this one did not disappoint. From the moment you pull up to the curb, you can tell you’re going to love this place. It’s beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and has a warm, inviting ambiance. The location is perfect. Our room wasn’t quite ready when we arrived, but the staff held our luggage and we were able to relax in one of the many comfortable seating areas. The courtyard is lovely, with multiple spots to unwind and people-watch. The Press Room Bar was great — quick, friendly bartenders who made it look effortless. They also serve food, and it was excellent. It was perfect for a late-night bite when we didn’t want to go back out. The room itself was cozy and a little unconventional in its layout and furniture, but it worked well for us. We had specifically requested a quiet room and were not disappointed. The only major downside was the lighting — very dim and moody, which sets a nice tone but makes it nearly impossible to actually see anything. Getting ready or finding something in my suitcase required a phone flashlight. I’d love to see a few brighter, optional lamps added without losing the cozy feel. There’s a daily destination fee of $30, which I knew about ahead of time, but I did have to ask for several of the included items. They were out of the tote bag (which seems small, but I wanted it!). I also experienced some confusion about late check-out — one staff member offered a complimentary noon checkout, another said it wasn’t possible, and then the morning of, someone else said noon was fine. So a little inconsistency there, but everyone was polite. Overall, this is a beautiful, welcoming hotel that I would absolutely recommend. Despite a few small hiccups, the service, atmosphere, and attention to detail make it a great stay.
Shanna S — Google review
Terrible Hyatt property, I moved out after one night. Don’t be fooled by their pretty, instagramable lobby. This is not a small boutique hotel, it’s a huge property with most room being like a cave, without a window but a door facing the dark corridor with people walking by. Poor, unwelcoming customer service. They give you the worst room and try to sell it to you as an upgrade. AC was not functioning well throughout the hotel despite the NOLA heat and was incredibly loud despite ear buds at night; no one seemed to care as they tell you it’s normal in an older property. I moved to another Hyatt hotel nearby which was much better!

Banana Blossom Thai Restaurant is a beloved and casual eatery located on the Westbank, offering a wide variety of Thai favorites such as curries, rice dishes, and noodles. With over 15 years in Gretna, this restaurant is known for its vegan and vegetarian options including kimchi rice with tofu, ramen with tofu, and various noodle dishes. The menu features a fusion of classic Thai flavors with influences from around the world and local Creole inspirations.
The food and service are fantastic. Dishes are created and presented artfully and very eye appealing. The portions are generous. The food is well seasoned and a bit milder than many Thai restaurants we have been to. This makes it more approachable to people that prefer milder seasonings. You can easily spice it up by asking for some Thai chilies. Add SMALL amounts and taste. You can always add more. The service was attentive and efficient. Please get bags with wider bottoms to fit the large take out bowls. I highly recommend either of the lamb dishes. Both are very flavorful with excellent curry! The spring rolls are crispy and thin shells making them easy to bite through. The unique cocktails are excellent! The lychee mojito is my favorite. The owner is often at the hostess station and frequently comes to check on you at the table!

Not expecting what to see walking into a minimalistic corner building on 9th Street and Lafayette, we were surprised by a tasteful and elegant presentation. Tall ceiling is underlined with great spread of wall, ceiling and table accessories, defining a well proportioned use of space. Acoustics reminds me of a busy Chinese Tea House hearing everything. High end style menu of 8 pages from front to back. Menu choices are comprehensive stressing always fresh year round availability. We went for a red snapper topped with a light sweet and sour mix of spices, herb, raddish and squash blend. Very outstanding simple use of fragrance, taste and texture. We sure will be back for Thai curry dishes, as profused from a neighbouring table. Will be back and recommend this place. The hospitality is warm and the hostess even offered my wife a bouquet of flowers to take home. 5 stars all around, for sure.

Gentle heads-up: The restaurant only accepts a maximum of 3 cards per group for payment. If you’re dining with a group, you may need to work something out ahead of time. Also, our check included all items on a single ticket rather than split by individual orders. That said, the experience was lovely. The food was absolutely delicious. Even with a full house, service was impressively fast. Our entire table received all dishes within 10 minutes. The ambiance is elegant and thoughtfully designed.

Didn't like the place, its not kept up. Look at the floor when you walk in the door. The seafood didn't look fresh especially the fish. Couldn't find someone that completely, l felt understood English. Asked 3 people to be pointed in general direction. If someone asks, you should bring them to the products not point. That feels uncaring especially to someone that's never been to your store.

Great variety of Asian groceries, excellent produce (easily best in town) and a wide and superb selection of beer, wine, and liquor. By far the best beer and liquor on the Westbank. They also have lots of home goods like dishes and kitchen implements , cleaning and paper goods, middle eastern foods, Hispanic foods, meat and fish, and an area that makes fresh sandwiches and some fresh but packaged foods/meals. Really awesome, and stayed opened after Hurricane Ida too, which was a life saver. Truly a gem and an awesome resource. Very grateful to have such an awesome place available.

If you look like me they are rude and stare at you and definitely will give others better service that look like them for example everyone received Ice with their fish complimentary we did not …they spoke at others not to us …cashier even verified my receipt to see if it was approved lol even though a receipt will NOT print if it was denied… lol common sense.. won’t be back

Chinese bakery
Wishing Town restaurant & bakery, located near Lakeside Mall, offers an extensive menu with a wide variety of options. From dumplings to crepe cakes, there is something for everyone. The Taiwan Shacha beef noodles and egg tarts are particularly recommended. The restaurant is known for its delicious Chinese dim sum and unique bakery items that are not overly sweet.
I finally visited Wishing Town’s new location in Metairie — and it’s absolutely amazing! The decor is full of thoughtful, beautiful details. I really loved the atmosphere! The food is still as delicious as ever. My favorites are the cucumber salad, garlic shrimp with glass noodles , and the pork floss dumpling.

I went on Sunday 8/24/2025. The glass noodles with seaweed was very good, as were the chicken dumplings. The chicken skewers were pretty good. I was looking forward to the sticky rice because I saw a review mention it being delicious but it did not taste good to me. I will be coming back to try more things.

Visiting Wishing Town was an amazing choice - every single dish I ordered was outstanding. I got to try quite a few items: the Fatty Beef Hot Pot, Seafood Hot Pot, Taiwan Shacha Beef Soup Noodles, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, Soup Dumplings, Teriyaki Beef Stuffed Tofu, Scallop Pocket Dumplings, Char Siu Tofu Pockets, their Baoger, and an impressive selection of desserts including the Matcha Mille Crepe, Lychee Chiffon Cake, Passionfruit Dessert, Coconut Milk Cubes, and Yuzu Orange Cheesecake. Every dish was crafted with care and packed with flavor. No matter what you choose from the menu, you won’t be disappointed. The soup noodle broths were rich and layered with depth, the soup dumplings were more flavorful than those from larger chain restaurants, and the baoger was a delightful surprise - the bun stayed fluffy and soft even after cooling down. Their desserts were beautifully inspired by Asian flavors, and every bite burst with authenticity. Each dessert truly captured the essence of its fruit, but my personal favorites were the Passionfruit Dessert and the Yuzu Orange Cheesecake - bright, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for a place that delivers both comforting hot dishes and refined, fruit-forward desserts, Wishing Town is a must-visit.

My wife and I checked out wishingtownbakerycafe for some dumplings and oh my were they incredible. Sesame sprinkle chicken, onion and beef triangles, mini pork steam buns and chicken skewers with teriyaki. Not pictured was their excellent homemade dim sum sauce and chili crisp which elevated everything that much more. 10/10.

Came here during a visit and dine with some friends and family. It's rare to find specialized dim sum in America, let alone in Metairie. The food is all home made and fresh. I especially like their focus on low fat and low sugar. The food was delicious and didn't feel heavy. I really enjoyed their soup dumplings which I think are better than dingtaifung. Thoughtful how they steamed it in little aluminum holders. So much easier to eat in. Great experience. Will go back again to try their baked goods.

Wishing Town in Metairie is a true culinary standout, offering fantastic Asian fusion and lightning-fast service. The dim sum here is excellent, with the tofu skin dim sum being a superb, must-try item. The savory menu is equally impressive, especially the flavorful soup and perfectly cooked glass noodles. Don't skip the desserts! Their baked goods are incredible; the lychee cake was really good and a perfect finish. With great food and quick service, Wishing Town is highly recommended!

Very disappointed in my most recent experience here. I used to come all the time at their previous location. I’m not sure if they changed recipes but my fatty beef hot pot was not what was advertised. Starting with the absence of almost all the ingredients. It’s supposed to include things like: corn, seaweed knot, tofu, and other things. The one I just purchased today only had noodles, lettuce , celery and meat. That being said the meat i received is not as advertised either instead of fatty beef it is as though there is sliced roast beef. All in all not a fan if this is a change and if it is they need to update their menu pictures and descriptions. I’ll include photos of what was advertised and what I received.

We ordered two noodle soup and two side dishes. The noodle soup was getting cold. Not sure how long the food stood outside until they got everything ready to be brought out. The yellow noodle called instant noodle taste expired and strange. The pork soup bun was also disappointing. The way they present in the picture is definitely not the same they brought it out. Soup in the bun vanished almost all. Don’t get the pictures fool you definitely not good.
