Park
Nature & Parks
Audubon Park is a charming destination located north of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. The park offers a variety of activities such as jogging and bike paths, tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. It also features a scenic lagoon surrounded by beautiful oak trees. Additionally, the park holds historical significance as it hosted the Worlds Fair in 1898. Visitors can explore this historic site while enjoying the natural beauty and wildlife that inhabit the area.
A Peaceful Green Escape in the Heart of the City Audubon Park is a beautiful oasis in New Orleans — the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. I took the streetcar out and walked through the park on my way to the zoo, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the day. The wide paths are great for walking, running, or biking, and the canopy of trees offers plenty of shade — which was especially appreciated on a warm June afternoon. It’s peaceful, scenic, and full of charm, with locals and visitors alike out enjoying the space. Whether you’re heading to the zoo or just looking for a relaxing stroll, Audubon Park is a lovely spot to slow down and soak in the natural beauty of the city.

Wonderful urban park situated at the back end of the garden district, yet feels rather remote and distant from the roar of traffic and city life. This park was lovely, and had a very relaxing feel to it, unlike city park which felt more like a location one goes for activities such as golf, football practice or disc golf. The path was very nice, wide enough for pedestrians, dogs and cyclists alike, and runs parallel to a lovely stream. Forget your woes and come down and enjoy this lovely little breath of scenery.
Max R — Google review
Large, beautiful park. Convenient for locals and worth the drive for west-bankers.
Theresa D — Google review
Beautiful. I visited in the early morning and was already packed with people walking and running. What a beautiful place to enjoy God's creation. Very safe and perfect for exercise.
Giselle S — Google review
What a beautiful park! Well-manacured, serene trails, delightful fountain. I spent more time here than I thought I would. The park is directly across from Loyola and Tulane, yet many families with young children were enjoying themselves. There were several walkers, bikers and joggers but the park wasn't crowded or noisy. Just a great stop off the St Charles streetcar line!

Nice environment, loved the bike trail and playgrounds. The random tree swings are also a nice touch. Restrooms are decent.

Park
Louis Armstrong Park is a 31-acre urban oasis located in the historic Treme neighborhood of New Orleans. It pays tribute to the legendary jazz musician Louis Armstrong and features lush green spaces, scenic ponds, and statues honoring his legacy. The park is home to historic Congo Square and hosts a variety of events such as concerts, films, festivals, and even weddings.
A Peaceful Tribute to a Musical Legend Armstrong Park is a beautiful and serene spot just steps from the French Quarter, and well worth a visit. It’s peaceful and spacious, with wide paths perfect for a relaxing stroll — a nice break from the city’s more hectic energy. The park is filled with incredible statues and tributes to New Orleans’ rich musical history, especially jazz and the legacy of Louis Armstrong himself. Each sculpture feels meaningful, and the entire space gives off a quiet sense of pride and reflection. Whether you’re a music lover, history fan, or just looking for a calm place to walk and take it all in, Armstrong Park delivers. A true gem in the heart of the city.

I don’t know if a came in a bad day ! So sad to see this place abandoned like this !! I didn’t ask the security guy name, he did amazing ! Monday morning security guy … good job!!!

Oh what a wonderful world A wonderful little world housed just outside of the French quarter of New Orleans. This quiet little haven of peace serves as a public green space, equipped with sculptures, plaques and more honouring the late founder of jazz. Though I would say it’s potential has been let down by its custodians. The park has some quaint little walkways and bridges which personally I enjoyed. This included a wooden bridge over a small beck, within which turtles can be spotted. We pondered on whether the turtles are natural or placed by man. I can’t help feeling like this park isn’t lifted to its full potential, due to the abundance of scaffolding and heras fencing, and the colour of the water. This could be a truly magical place but does feel somewhat uncared for. I understand there has been discussion about whether the adjacent parking lots may be incorporated into the park at some point.
Max R — Google review
Louis Armstrong Park has the appearance of a public space designed in the Lyndon Johnson era. Stark looking concrete bridges over concrete ponds seemingly without intent or direction. I can't quite figure out what seems so odd about the park. The rarely used Mahalia Jackson Theater is on the property as well as a very large abandoned building, the Municipal Auditorium whose intent is unknown to me, but is in great need of rehabilitation. I find an Executive Order from the Mayors office setting up a committee to study its redevelopment. Hopefully something is in the works. There is also an older historic building complex in the middle of the park, fenced off. Don't know what that is. The stark concrete bridges would be a lot more pleasing to the eye if they were faced with brick. Anyway, it does serve as an outdoor space for events and gathering spot for walking parades. I'm not sure whether they even have bathrooms in the park. There are some nice statues.

Pass by these silent and beautiful park in central city….5km Runs is worth it to see around. They will close around 6pm Louis Armstrong, the legendary jazz musician born in New Orleans.🎷🎺 #LouisArmstrong #thelegendaryjazz #musician #NewOrleans

Amazing park dedicated to a legend. A nice surprise to stumble across while out seeing the sites of the French Quarter.
Bill M — Google review
The park has great appeal. The city or whoever oversees the park needs to maintain it. It was so sad to see the level of trash that filled the water feature.... the landscape is too nice to look like that. It can be a serene place. Also some of the night lights on the entry of the park are our. Please clean the water up. I still think it's worth going to visit.
Rizma P — Google review
This park has potential to be a nice place to visit but at the moment it appears to be almost abandoned and not taken care of at all. The artificial lake in the middle of the park is so dirty and overall even in plain daylight this place does not gave me the sense of being safe. I feel this is unfortunate given it is dedicated to one of the best personalities in Jazz and one of the most recognized musician

The New Orleans Museum of Art, also known as NOMA, is housed in a magnificent marble building and boasts an extensive collection of over 40,000 artworks from global artists spanning various historical periods. Louisiana residents can take advantage of free admission on select Saturdays in August through The Helis Foundation's Art & A/C initiative.
This review is mostly about the sculpture gardens. Although the museum is nice, it's the sculpture gardens that really wow you. The landscapes, combined with the outdoor art is just incredible. Paths wander around ponds, and sculptures are located along the paths, each one has a plaque telling you who the artist is and when it was sculpted. We went during the week, so it was probably less crowded. So many great photo opportunities along the way. Highly recommend going. What a gem.

It’s an amazing place to visit if you are ever in New Orleans. They have beautiful exhibits and interesting free programs. The museum is spacious and exhibits are easy to navigate. The museum is located inside a lovely park with a lake. All staff members are friendly and helpful. I only wish we had more time to spend at the museum and at the park.

The New Orleans Museum of Art is such a hidden gem. The rotating exhibits are always something special and worth checking out each visit. The permanent collections are fantastic too—especially the galleries on Africa, China, and Orientalism. Beautifully curated, peaceful, and inspiring every time. A must for art lovers in the city.

So much beautiful and dramatic art to view. The museums provides info of the time period, meaningful symbolism and history behind lot of it the pieces of art. Definitely a must see when you come to New Orleans and I love how the botanical garden and the sculpture garden is close by. Staff was friendly and helpful and restrooms were clean!

This is a wonderful place to visit if you appreciate art. They consistently have a great variety of pieces on display. Plus, there are always fresh exhibits being introduced to keep things interesting. The cafe is also quite lovely, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. I highly recommend stopping by for an enjoyable afternoon.

Beautiful exhibits! I didn't expect to find so many famous paintings in here. The museum has three floors, a lot of classic art, but also modern art and ancient artifacts from all over the world! The museum is spacious and quiet. It also have a cafeteria and a nice gift shop

Best spot to cool off during the week. Free on weds for Louisiana residents. Sculpture garden is great when it’s cooler outside. Must visit for anyone in the area.

The African Masquerades exhibit was a breathtaking celebration of artistry, tradition, and cultural storytelling. From the moment I walked in, I was surrounded by vibrant colors, intricate carvings, and masks that seemed to carry the spirit of centuries-old rituals.

Woldenberg Park, also known as the Riverwalk, is a 16-acre riverfront park located just outside the French Quarter in New Orleans. It offers stunning views of the historic Mississippi River and provides a fantastic space for leisurely activities. The park features jogging paths, green spaces, sculptures, and artwork. Named after philanthropist Malcolm Woldenberg, it hosts live music performances during events like the French Quarter Festival.
Beautiful park set on the edge of the river. From there, you can watch the boats float by and the sunrise ripple on the water. The place is quiet in the early morning with just a few joggers and walkers. A nice stretch of riverwalk lets you stroll for quite a while, and the whole area is pretty clean and cared for. If you go further north/east along the water, you can find some beautiful murals. All in all, sunrise there was one of my favorite parts of a day in New Orleans.
Andrew K — Google review
Woldenberg Park is a true gem. Along the Mississippi River, this beautiful park offers great views, a tranquil atmosphere, and plenty of activities to enjoy, especially in peak season. You can take a leisurely stroll along the riverwalk, sit in the shade, and watch the boats float by. The park is clean and well-maintained, making it perfect for a relaxing morning or evening walk. The park's serene ambiance is a welcome atmosphere from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street. You can even catch live jazz music near the paddle boats! It's an ideal spot to unwind, take in the views, and enjoy the unique blend of art, nature, and culture. Whether you're interested in history, art, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Woldenberg Park has something for everyone.
Nicola M — Google review
This was a nice park. I didn't see much of the park itself because I was attending the French Quarter Festival. The waterfront view of the park was really nice as well as being able to take a stroll in the boardwalk. If you're waking a dog or just out for a leisurely stroll this would be a great place to get away and enjoy. If you're visiting the area and need a break from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street this could be a great opportunity to take the trolley or even take a walk and get a little peace and relaxation with a view of the ships and other scenery.

Woldenberg Park is a beautiful stretch along the Mississippi River; peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a stroll. It’s clean and well-kept, with plenty of benches, sculptures, and grassy areas to relax or watch the boats go by. Located right next to the aquarium and the French Quarter. Lovely river breeze and great views.

A really nice and big park on the Mississippi River, it’s very clean and pleasant to walk through. There are also plenty of places to sit down in the shade.

After the aquarium and insectarium visit we went to check out the river boats. Great view and a beautiful day. The kids loved to look at the water and we just enjoyed the evening.

The sculpture garden is the major attraction of the city park. Well designed sculpture garden with amazing sculptures or art installations. Walkable walkways and scene environment. Close proximity to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA).

Jesus. The most beautiful city park I've ever been in. And I didn't even cross into the north section. The south part has great water features, the free sculpture garden which is fun and chances to spot turtles, storks and alligators.
Christopher M — Google review
The City Park in New Orleans has to be one of the best I’ve ever been in. The landscaping is beautiful and there are several places to see inside the park, the Botanical Garden, Story Land, the Museum of Art etc. There’s plenty of parking and security too.
Janessa J — Google review
A vast expanse packed with culture, activities and calm relaxing outdoor spaces. New Orleans City Park is everything it promises to be, a park in the city. It is also big, and home to a range of popular sports facilities including football, tennis, golf, disc golf, running, dog walking and more. There are eateries within (e.g. cafe du monde). The park is equipped with important park apparatus such as trees, grass, bodies of water and rollercoasters. A train circumnavigates the south end of the park. The northern end of the park presents itself as more barren. We saw a large black snake in the grass near the disc golf course which we understand was either completely harmless and friendly, or deadly. A lady picking leaves nearby remarked she’d never seen a snake in the park before, and was both thankful yet envious that she had not witnessed this with us.

My favorite city park in the states! Truly a gem to visit. We rented a swan boat which was fun but tiring (duh!) Unfortunately, I left my phone in the car while we walked the other areas, but the pics on the site are better than any I could do! We'll be back, as always!
April S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful park! We only had about an hour to be in City Park, but we wished could have had all day. There is something for everyone here. If you want a sweet treat, stop at Café Du Monde. If you want to see areas with deep historical roots, look at the 300+ year old trees and more. Looking for a great spot to take your kids, there's an area of the park for that! Looking to enjoy the water and maybe see an alligator, there are plenty of spots for that. Beautiful. Picturesque.

Escape the hustle and bustle of New Orleans by taking a leisurely stroll through the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, nestled in an 11-acre oasis within City Park. Wander along pedestrian paths surrounded by lush greenery, mature trees, and tranquil water features while admiring over 90 sculptures from renowned artists such as Armans, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Robert Indiana, and Pedro Reyes. The garden offers a serene setting to appreciate art amidst nature's beauty.
The Sculpture Garden truly never gets old. I grew up here in New Orleans and City Park has always had a special place in my heart. It's such a wonderful treat to be able to bring my daughter here and see the new additions to the gardens. I'm truly in awe of the nature and the art. It's one of a kind.
Monique J — Google review
Wonderful little sculpture park nestled in the south side of city park The first thing which struck me about this brilliant little free attraction was the diversity in sculptures. Each crafted by a different creative mind, using varied raw materials in unique and perplexing ways. The sculptures provoke an array of personal thoughts and feelings, sometimes due to the way they move and sometimes due to their curious topologies. The park is nicely connected by a labyrinth of paths that lead you betwixt the sculptures, over quaint bridges and through nooks. A wonderful immersive art experience.
Max R — Google review
What a rush! I absolutely LOVED the Sculpture Garden, it was quirky and unique and beautiful and weird, it was amazing. And to see my 5 year old grandson so intrigued by the sculptures made the visit even more fabulous. We visited on a Tuesday and the crowds were light, so we were able to really enjoy without rushing. I urge you to make the Sculpture Garden a definite stop when you visit City Park.
Ingrid R — Google review
The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is an absolute gem hidden within City Park, and the best part? It's completely free! This expansive collection of sculptures is beautifully integrated into the public areas of the park, making art accessible to everyone. What truly sets this sculpture garden apart is its impressive scale and continuous growth. The collection is substantial and ever-expanding, offering something new with each visit. The thoughtful placement of sculptures throughout the landscape creates a wonderful journey of discovery. The landscaping surrounding the sculptures is nothing short of impeccable. The grounds are meticulously maintained and create an incredibly inviting atmosphere that enhances the overall experience. Strategic placement of benches throughout the garden provides perfect spots to pause, rest, and contemplate the artwork you've encountered. I cannot emphasize enough what a delightful surprise it is to find such a world-class sculpture garden in City Park, available to all at no cost. This is a must-visit destination that I highly recommend to anyone—whether you're an art enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful, inspiring place to spend an afternoon.

Let me add to pile of good reviews on here. The grounds were lovely. The design pleasing and interesting incorporating the landscape. My only complaint…the staff that embarrassed us by sternly snapping to “stop touching the art.” Makes sense except that we had been walking in the park for a while interacting with the pieces as we had seen everyone around us doing. There were no barriers and no signs and we were the only one she spoke to in our vicinity. So, don’t touch the art even if everyone else is.

The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is such a gem in City Park. It’s free, beautiful, and the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Grab a coffee nearby and enjoy the walk through the gardens—there’s always something new to appreciate with the art, the trees, and the peaceful setting. A must-visit spot in New Orleans.

The Sculpture Garden is an absolute must-see when visiting New Orleans. The entire space is breathtaking — from the captivating artwork to the graceful weeping willow trees, every corner reveals something new to delight your senses. It’s a peaceful, inspiring experience that perfectly blends art and nature.

I missed this gem during several other visits to NO. Get off Burbon St. And take the time to take the trolly and see this great sculpture garden. Plenty of pics and videos below. The spine was one of our favorites.

Gardens
Nestled within City Park, the New Orleans Botanical Garden is a serene sanctuary featuring over 2,000 plant species from around the globe. This historic garden, established in the 1930s, offers 10 acres of meticulously maintained landscapes to explore. Visitors can wander through diverse ecosystems such as the Tropical Rainforest Greenhouse and the Garden of Irises. The garden also hosts seasonal plant sales and showcases Louisiana's native flora alongside exotic plants like orchids and cacti.
We visited the New Orleans Botanical Garden today, and it was such a lovely experience. The gardens are really beautiful and full of charm. One of my favorite parts was the kitchen garden with all the vegetables growing—it was so unique and fun to see. The rest of the gardens were just as wonderful, especially the live oak trees draped in Spanish moss. They added so much character and that classic New Orleans beauty. Coming from Birmingham, Alabama, where we have a very lovely botanical garden of our own, I can say this one is special in its own right because of those grand oaks and the Southern atmosphere. It made the visit memorable and peaceful all at once. If you’re visiting New Orleans and want a break from the busy French Quarter, the Botanical Garden is a must-see. We truly enjoyed our time there.
Bill T — Google review
We visited the New Orleans Botanical Garden during a trip to City Park, and while the gardens themselves are well-maintained and offer some lovely sights, the overall experience felt overpriced—especially for a family. The space is peaceful and offers a mix of tropical plants, flowers, and a few artistic installations. It’s a nice place to explore if you’re really into horticulture or looking for a quiet walk. That said, I expected more for the cost of admission. I honestly would’ve preferred to visit alone or with other plant lovers rather than bring the whole family, considering how quickly the price adds up and how little there was to keep the kids engaged after a short while. There were some highlights: the butterfly garden, interesting sculptures, and shaded areas to rest. But overall, it didn’t feel like a good value for a full family outing. If you’re on a budget or traveling with kids, I’d think twice unless you know they’ll be into the experience. Next door they have a story book land which kids may enjoy more. I absolutely loved the kitchen garden and that part of the botanical garden.

Beautiful garden. The covered gardens were nice and cool. Shade trees were magical, especially in the summer swelter. We went on a Friday afternoon. Walking in the garden was very calming. Not many people around, so you could take you time and enjoy the view. The fans in some of the areas provided great relief for the heat.

A Plant Lover’s Paradise The New Orleans Botanical Garden is an absolute haven for plant lovers. If you appreciate nature, beauty, and a peaceful stroll through vibrant landscapes, this place is a must-visit. At every turn, there’s something stunning to take in—from lush tropical plants and fragrant blooms to elegant sculptures tucked among the greenery. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and your senses come alive. Whether you’re admiring the towering oaks or wandering through themed gardens, there’s no shortage of natural wonder. The garden is thoughtfully laid out and impeccably maintained. Every path invites you to explore just a little further, and every corner reveals another moment of quiet beauty. It’s more than just a garden—it’s an experience. Perfect for a solo walk, a romantic outing, or a peaceful afternoon with friends, the New Orleans Botanical Garden offers a refreshing escape from the busy city. You don’t have to be a botanist to enjoy it—just someone who finds joy in nature’s artistry.

I really enjoyed wandering this botanical garden. It's not incredibly large yet there is plenty to see. Several small garden types to choose from. Unfortunately the Japanese garden and train area were closed when I came. A bit pricey compared to other US gardens. Plenty of parking in the area. Restrooms available. Tiny gift shop. No food.

my favorite botanical garden by far! such a stunning display of plants making you feel Louisiana in a whole. the old oaks were just breath taking and the fact that the highest point is in city park is such a cool thing to go see off the beaten path of all the partying

Absolutely phenomenal! I wish we had started earlier in the day because we ended up having only about an hour and a half before closing, and we felt like we barely touched the tip of all this beautiful garden had to offer. We also plan to visit it again in a different season.

Nature & Parks
Crescent Park is a 20-acre linear park that stretches 1.4 miles along the Mississippi River, connecting the French Quarter to the Bywater neighborhood. The park features walking and bike paths, picnic areas, and stunning views of the city skyline. Visitors can enjoy street art, rusty bridges, native landscaping, and watch paddlewheelers like the Creole Queen and Natchez Steamboat pass by.
Crescent Park in New Orleans is a hidden gem offering a peaceful escape from the bustling city while still showcasing the beauty of the Mississippi River and the city’s skyline. The park is perfect for a leisurely stroll, jog, or bike ride, with its well-maintained paths and serene atmosphere. The park’s design cleverly incorporates both modern elements and natural landscapes, with lush green spaces, wildflower meadows, and native plants. There are plenty of spots to sit and relax, including benches and shaded areas, making it ideal for picnics or just unwinding. However, it’s important to note that Crescent Park can get quite hot during the summer months, as there’s limited shade in certain areas. Bringing water and wearing sunscreen is a good idea for daytime visits. Overall, Crescent Park is a wonderful destination for both locals and tourists looking for a scenic, quiet spot to enjoy nature, exercise, or simply take in the views of New Orleans.
Asif K — Google review
Crescent Park is a beautiful space with deep cultural and historical significance — especially the Latin American Workers Memorial, which honors those who helped rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The artwork and intention are powerful. However, I was concerned by what I saw during my recent visit. The monument is visibly neglected, with dead flowers, trash, and stains on the marble base. Even more alarming, there are clusters of wild, potentially poisonous mushrooms growing right along the walkways — a major safety risk for kids and pets. This park deserves better care and attention. It has the potential to be a peaceful and educational destination, but only if the city invests in maintaining it. I hope to return and see it restored with the dignity it deserves.

A wonderful park not far from the French Quarter that overlook into the Mississippi River .
Francesco R — Google review
Very close to the river, and adjacent to the city. It kind of curves a bit so it would be better if they could have straightened it out but oh well I guess that's part of being here. There's a dog run, but it's fairly small. When I was there the place was lousy with clowns but they were kind of hot so, when they chased me on their roller skates it was oddly traumatic yet stimulating. I guess the best way to describe this would be that when I recall this memory "I will find it difficult but not impossible...". There's a very small chance that if you me running to clowns here so if you don't like clowns or don't want to be put in a situation that would cause you to not like clowns in the future, perhaps you should steer clear. Other than that..it's a nice park.

Pleasant, meandering park. Cool pedestrian crossings over the railroad, including an elevator for wheelchairs. Big, covered warehouse floor is great for skating and tennis. Easy to forget the river is there when on the other side of the levee.

Nice Park along the Mississippi river. There are tables toward the Piety Wharf side where you can sit to have a picnic lunch. We ate our sandwiches from the nearby Frady's One Stop Food Store, Roast Beef PO Boy and a Muffuletta sandwich on one of the tables while admiring the view of the river. The area is very clean and nicely landscaped with rose bushes.

Absolutely love this park. They open the gates promptly for 6a. I lead a free workout group, open to all - community oriented (come join us!). But point is we are there every Tues/Thurs at 6a and Sat at 7a, and we've never had a problem! It's always clean, always safe, and always beautiful. The views are awesome. Fun fact - the park is EXACTLY one mile (if you know where to start) in length. Which is awesome for our Saturday timed miles. I promise this is not a shameless workout post (despite what it seems) just authentically want to share that for our use it's an absolute treat. As a local who also spends a considerable amount of time at Audubon, City Park, etc - all of which I love - Crescent Park just hits different. Enjoy it.

Lovely park, with a paved trail about 1.4 miles in length that runs along the waterfront (a small portion is divided from the river by railroad tracks). Water fountains and portable toilets in some areas. Pedestrian overpass (the one by the warehouse) over the railway is equipped with an elevator.

Cafe Du Monde is a must-visit destination in New Orleans, renowned for its delicious café au laits and iconic beignets since 1862. This charming café draws both locals and tourists alike, who flock to savor the melt-in-your-mouth pastries dusted with powdered sugar. While some may opt for the glitz of nearby casinos, many prefer the laid-back atmosphere of Cafe Du Monde, where they can enjoy their treats amidst the vibrant energy of the city.
Cafe Du Monde: Where Touristy Transcends into Timeless Yes, yes, I know. Nothing screams “I Googled ‘must-eat in New Orleans’” louder than Cafe Du Monde. It’s the Eiffel Tower of fried dough. The Statue of Liberty of chicory. The Times Square of powdered sugar. But hear me out: sometimes the cliché is a classic for a reason. We came for the beignets and chicory coffee, and left with powdered sugar in our hair, hearts full, and a renewed belief in the magic of the obvious. The beignets? Pillowy, golden, and unapologetically dusted like they were trying to erase all memory of low-carb living. Each bite was a soft jazz solo, sweet, warm, and just a little bit cheeky. The chicory latte? Earthy, bold, and comforting, like a hug from a caffeinated swamp witch who’s seen things and wants you to know it’ll all be okay. And despite the reputation for lines longer than a CVS receipt, we walked right in. No wait. No chaos. Just a table, a tray, and the kind of service that says, “We’ve done this a million times, and we still care.” Our server was swift, kind, and knew exactly how to wield a tray of beignets like a seasoned pastry ninja. Outside, the sky opened up in a theatrical downpour, because of course it did. Our last hours in New Orleans deserved a dramatic curtain call. And right on cue, a saxophone player appeared under the awning, playing something smooth and wistful, like the soundtrack to a sepia-toned montage of love and powdered sugar. My wife and I sat there, sipping, smiling, and silently agreeing that this was the kind of moment you don’t try to improve. You just live it. Was it touristy? Absolutely. But it was also excellent. And if excellence happens to come with a side of mass appeal and a gift shop, so be it. I’ll take it. We’ll be back. Not just for the beignets, but for the reminder that sometimes the most obvious choice is also the most delicious. And next time, I might even wear white, just to see how much powdered sugar I can get away with.
Maciek M — Google review
Definitely the iconic spot it is heralded for. Beignets were amazing. The frozen café au lait is a perfect pairing. The jazz music outside really sets a vibe for the puffs of powdered sugar as you bite into your Beignets. Its the standard and sets the bar. Start here and then try the others. Seat yourself and someone will come to you. Sometimes that takes longer than you want. Cash only but open 24hrs!!!
Ray P — Google review
What can you say about Café Du Monde? It’s iconic for a reason. The beignets are absolutely incredible — hot, fresh, perfectly crisp on the outside with a light, airy chew on the inside, and piled high with powdered sugar. I went on a busy Sunday morning and was lucky to get a seat right away, and the service was surprisingly quick given how chaotic it can get. The restaurant is very casual and crowded, with cramped tables and chairs, and the waitstaff are constantly on the move. The restrooms are limited and not the nicest, but it’s a casual spot, and the prices reflect that. I was so impressed that I went back the next day — these beignets are truly worth a visit to New Orleans on their own. I’ve been dreaming about them for years, and they exceeded every expectation. Absolutely phenomenal. 100% recommend to anyone visiting the city.
Chloe — Google review
We had to visit cafe de monde, it is an institution. Super busy any time of day. Beignets are related to donuts, but not as flavorful. They are covered with heap of powered sugar, so they very messy. I saw very few people that were not covered with white powder. To stay relatively clean you have to shake off the powder first, you still get a lot of sweetness as some of it heats up and melts onto the dough. The bathroom experience was memorable. There is a long line, and there is a bathroom director who tells the next person to enter one of two bathrooms (both are either/or ) bathroom. They are the size of the air plane bathroom, dirty, with wet floor. There are no paper towels, but one can use toilet paper to dry the hands. It is an experience I will remember. P.s. cash only. A plate with thee and 2 coffees were 15 dollars.
Julie's B — Google review
This place is OG beignets place in NO LA. The waiting queue is very fast moving, it's a place where you don't need to be seated. Servers are helpful and quick to serve. Their hot coffee with milk was amazing, kind of similar to filter coffee you get in India. It is rated so highly for a reason. Their Beignets is that reason. Period.
Shashikant P — Google review
Cafe Du Monde is the quintessential touristy place of New Orleans. If you don't visit, did you even go to The Big Easy? Beignets and coffee are the name of the game here. The beignets are coated with enough powdered sugar to tempt the Narcotics Unit to throw you behind bars. Will you find better tasting beignets in the area? For sure. But will you eat them in a place as historical and nostalgic as the city itself? Heck no! The main thing to know is this place is cash only. Also, you can purchase one of the server hats and get the cheapest souvenir in the French Market. I've eaten here early morning and late at night, and it's truly a toss-up on which vibes I liked better. In the end, you can't go wrong.
Dalton A — Google review
Long line, but it moved steadily. It helps to know your order in advance, easy with the small menu. Have the right amount of cash ready. Staff did a nice job keeping things moving. It's not revolutionary, but the beignets are good, the chicory coffee is mild, and the beverages are serviceable. Fun to go with a group and check it off your tourist list (then try more beignets at different places with less wait time).
Hope H — Google review
Iconic cafe in New Orleans. It’s way worth it. Biegnets are amazing. Fluffy fresh and not super sweet. Tha place only accepts cash. It’s crowded 24/7 and service is quick and to the point. Not the best service but understandable they are working non stop. Good prices

Nestled within New Orleans City Park, Couturie Forest is a serene woodland escape just a short distance from the bustling downtown area. The forest offers an opportunity to explore off-the-beaten-path trails while staying within the city limits. I love Couturie Forest; it's such a serene, lovely place to walk! The forest is beautiful, and I enjoy walking and birding here. I also really like the signs and education given here to help people of all ages learn the importance of forests, and what kinds of wildlife live in them! I spotted White Ibises, Mallards, Snowy Egrets, Downy Woodpeckers, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Blue Jays, Northern Cardinals, and several more here; it's a lovely forest and also a lovely place to see where the wetlands meet the forest, and you can also catch glimpses of grassland birds that roam around across the water. :) I have been here (at least) twice, and I would absolutely go again. It's a lovely place to walk and enjoy nature. :)

Nice, little park, close to town. You walk close to the water under beautiful trees. Well maintained trails. There is a good sized parking area.
Nora Z — Google review
My god I love this place. HUGE. When you walk over an into the forest there’s a trail to the left middle and right. It is so big that after finishing one day I went back another day and saw areas I didn’t see the first time. - was able to see 2 bunnies, a red cardinal, and lord of butterflies. My dog loved the trail. My only complaint is there’s no trash cans. But at the very entrance so if you have a poop bag or bottle of water you finished you must hold it the whole entire walk. To refrain from littering. I did see a few poop bags littered. It upset me because I wouldn’t want to be penalized for them as far as dogs being welcomed. So I def think atleast one trash can in the middle could totally help.

Confetti Park is a charming neighborhood playground located in Algiers Point, New Orleans. It's a favorite spot for playdates and family outings, offering various play equipment such as swings, climbing structures, and ride-on toys. The park is completely fenced and features picnic tables with painted chess and checkers boards. Additionally, there are some grassy areas for kids to run around and plenty of seating options for parents.
Confetti Park is a really cool little park. Not only is it very attractive it is well stocked with fun things for the young ones to use. Unfortunately we have had a week of heavy rain and rain the day we visited. This caused a fair amount of mud which is inevitable in a grass park. This is a really fun looking place that young people can enjoy.

Climbing, swinging, and discovery in the playground for the little ones. Rubber deck around the equipment, and some grassy spots for good old running around. Yes, some shade trees. Beautiful Unique Art Fence keeps the toddlers inside. Picnic tables for those birthday parties. A couple of steel Art Benches. Bring a cushion for sitting longer than 5 minutes. Some days I've seen more than a dozen adults with toddlers all interacting. It's a happy place.

We frequent Confetti Park often as my husband teaches at a school nearby. We have children from age 2-10, and they all find ways to enjoy our time there. We are homeschoolers, and we sometimes bring our workbooks with us when we visit because there are several picnic tables available. The kids can alternate playing and working on their lessons. We can easily spend 2-4 hours there on a nice day. I love how much "yard" there is for the kids to run around and explore. With the fence and gated entry, I actually feel comfortable sitting for a few moments without worrying that my toddler will be hightailing it down the street if I look away for 2 seconds.

Move with the River, Follow that Food and Jammin House were some of her favorites. Overall, while the museum offers engaging spaces, for those who value children's museums that excel in truly open-ended play, rich loose parts, and exhibits with scalable complexity – allowing children of varying ages and abilities to engage at their own level and continually discover new challenges – there's certainly room for growth in areas like the water and food exhibits. With some thoughtful additions, these spaces could become even more powerful catalysts for learning and imaginative exploration.

07/13/2024 - first time visiting this small park with stone like pathways for cycling, jogging, rollerblading/rollerskating, running, skateboarding through, and walking. There are some nice grassy areas for picnicking. Nice tall trees that serve as functional decor shielding from the sun rays. There are also some wrought iron benches throughout the small square. There is a statue of Henry Clay(Hart, 1863) that is positioned in the center of the area. Nice and clean area that welcomes all to visit. Limited nearby parking available and for a fee. Enjoy!

I came here a couple of times, while doing a little light wandering around New Orleans. The trees here are next level! I’m becoming more of a nature connoisseur, and I approve of the greenery in this park. Worth wandering through this square during the day and soaking it in.

The cozy bungalow setting features a spacious porch and a pet-friendly patio where you can relax with your pup while enjoying cocktails or waiting for your takeout order. The staff provides excellent service and warm greetings to regulars and newcomers alike.
Ate here on Saturday morning, it was busy, but we were seated promptly. Water's and silverware were brought immediately. Our server, "Angie"(I think that was her name), was spot on and super friendly. The food was delicious. I will be back again. It was fantastic! Oh, we came back on Sunday, even busier than yesterday! Bad experience at another local restaurant. We came here. Again, fantastic service.

I’ve been wanting to dine at Cafe Navarre for a really long time and finally got the chance on a weekday morning. It’s street parking only but I found a park easily. I imagine it would have been more of a challenge on the weekend. When we entered, we were able to sit wherever we wanted and chose a table in the elevated section of the restaurant. The biscuit was sliced open, buttered, grilled and most importantly, it was on point! I wasn’t a fan of the grits but the other guest loved them. The omelet was decent, maybe slightly overcooked, but had good flavor. I’m definitely glad that I tried this place, but think there are better options around.

Stopped in on a Sunday at noon. Self seat, ordered a fully dressed roast beef poboy and cheese and gravy fries that I added hot sauce and ketchup to, and a root beer. Was pretty good, I’d go back. I sat outside, where they have fans so it wasn’t horribly hot. Very dog friendly and a lot of kids also, while I was there. Nice little neighbor joint

Quaint corner cafe. Dog friendly. Good omelets and very good biscuits. Good, friendly servers and food comes out quickly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Alcoholic drinks for purchase as well. They also serve sandwiches and other non-breakfast items.

A true neighborhood restaurant! This adorable Cafe is the perfect place to get great food with great service. The staff know the menu and give great recommendations. They also know their customers, I over heard so many warm greetings and catching up after travels. The food was very good! I got the pest chicken sandwich and my partner got the turkey avocado. Both were great and the sweet potato fries are so good! We also got a bowl of their shrimp corn chowder, a little heat and lots of shrimp! I can't wait to go back for breakfast or the happy hour soon! Street parking is free and can be a little hard to find during busy hours.

Pretty basic breakfast food. Nothing stood out. Service was super slow but it was busy on Saturday morning. Front patio seating was nice.
Bethany H — Google review
We had breakfast and bloody marys, which were delicious. The biscuits are so light and fluffy. The bourbon caramel pancakes were decadent. The only issue was that we ordered cheese and jalapeño grits and we got grilled onions instead of jalapeño. They were really good and we ate them anyway so we didn't complain about it. There was about a 15-20 minute wait for a table at 10:30 am.

Bonnabel Boat Launch in Metairie is a favorite spot for families, especially those with kids of all ages and special needs. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful time by the Lake Ponchartrain, watching the sunset and observing people fishing or enjoying water sports like jet skiing.
Went to take my MOOSE to the Dog 🐕 Park. He's a BIG BABY, everyone was scared to bring in there dogs because he is so big.

Stumbled across this park while exploring. Nice place, no permanent bathrooms yet, but they makeup for it with porta potties and a nice semi well kept trailer bathroom that has AC, running water and plays music inside. The park itself has some nice views of the surrounding lake including the causeway. Has a nice pier that goes out into the water which I saw some fishing at. Good view of some local ducks and various birds. Also some little gasping fish that come up to the pier and you can hear the little pops their mouths make as they swim up. A fun place to relax after a day of work, there was also a playground for the kids.

I haven't been by the boat launch in years (35 years) and I took a ride with my neighbors the past couple of weekends. The Bonnabel Boat Launch has changed so much since I was a teenager and we used to hang out there. LOL It is absolutely amazing. People are actually using it as a boat launch as it should have always been used as! I love seeing this! They did a great job upgrading it. I loved seeing the baby ducks and all the people and an actually bike and walking path! Great job Jefferson Parish! It looks beautiful!

Me giving my opinion of our wonderful boat launch that our city officials did such a great job on designing. Is like Ricky Williams explaining why he choose porvover football!!! Because just like our boat launch it makes you feel good!!! Great atmosphere, good people, and very little harassment from our boys in blue or our wildlife and fishery agents!!! ( Love and respect all you guys, thank you from the Landry faimly)They do make there presence known. which explains the no crime rate at the launch! Day or night! Excellent place. I like to take my lady for a night walk there when there's tension in the house bc of life's everyday problems. After the walk and talk we ride home holding hands!!

Wally Pontiff Jr Playgrounds is a popular spot among families with toddlers due to its tot lots, which feature toddler-friendly amenities like wide stairs and small slides. The park is well-maintained and staffed, making it very kid-friendly. However, some visitors have noted issues such as ongoing construction and occasional odor concerns in certain areas of the playground. Despite these minor drawbacks, many people still consider it the best playground in the area for a fun day out.
Wow this playground is very well-maintained! Tons of space for all sports and a very VERY nice gym! Really enjoyed the turf baseball field.
Hunter E — Google review
As far as the playground goes it is a great spot for family to go to. As for me, I came to try out the track and I just finished doing my training at Pontiff, and I don't think it is a good track to train on. Dirt tracks are just so hard on the legs and leads to shin splints. I also was doing a dynamic warm up which requires the ground and the dirt will makes me really dirty. Last thing, the track isn't maintained well there are grass on it and footprint divots which makes me feel like I'm going to roll my ankle on. The only thing that is nice about the track is that there is good shading because of the trees.

Sara — Google review
Overall I really like this park it is a great park. They have a lot of construction going on right now and that's fine doesn't bother me. But one area of the parking lot wasn't clearly closed off because there was space for cars to pass. Some times cones aren't completely blocking off areas. Sometimes they're directing traffic or limiting areas. So I asked the park workers am I allowed to park here. Which is fine if I am not. But then they have to make an unnecessary comment my ability to read. There were no signs there. It was not clear that the area was blocked off because the cones allowed space for cars to pass. Was it really that necessary to be rude about it? I'm not trying to cause any problems. Just asking for clarity about the area.
Ashtian H — Google review
The playground was nice, but the table area has not been kept up. The best part about the play area is the amount of shade. There are lots of trees to keep yourself cool and away from the direct rays of the sun. There is also a walking trail and a few swings for young children and babies. There isbpletny of room to run around or bring blankets. You don't get the nice scenery though so it you are looking for a scenic view this isn't the place, but if you need a place for your lids for just go and burn energy take them here.

City Park Disc Golf Course offers a great way to enjoy the park while getting some exercise. The course winds through oak groves and features holes suitable for both beginners and experienced players. With a variety of obstacles, including trees, bushes, and even water hazards on some holes, it provides an enjoyable challenge for all. The course is well-maintained and allows dogs off-leash, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors looking to have fun in a beautiful setting.
Great course, pretty simple with a couple of mildy tricky shots through those big trees! Very fun to see all the dogs. Most people seem to walk nearby with them off leash, but all the dogs were well behaved, so that's good! All the tee pads are well marked, and the course layout is fairly intuitive, though it was nice to have udisc to navigate a couple times. Best to park at the softball field and then walk up towards the first hole or just park on the side of the road nearby.
Zachariah W — Google review
Varied, highly adaptable course for all skill levels. Pick yourself up some frisbees from Joe at Nelson Bay Beads then head on over to a wonderful, highly adaptable course with a number of well-signposted tee pads and baskets (gold and blue). The third disc golf course I have visited. The holes are varied, a nice mix of pure distance drives, difficult obstacles and bends, as well as a decent bit of risk factor with a lake. *expect wildlife on the course* We had a close encounter with a big black snake. A local leaf collector informed us this was either completely harmless and safe or poisonous and deadly. It might be a walk in the park to get there, but by no means is it a walk in the park to get there. It’s quite a long way on public transport, about a 30 minute walk from the street car. The map is deceiving with shortcuts too- without satellite view it’s certainly a gamble with what’s an open field and what’s thick hedge- this could easily add 10 minutes to your return journey!
Max R — Google review
Only played here twice now, but had a great time, both times. It's a great course, with a variety of holes throughout. Can be wet and boggy and hard to find discs in overgrown areas, but if you stay on course, without too many crazy throws/landings, it is a lot of fun!

This was a cute little aquarium. I enjoyed the fact that they had a section dedicated to Mississippi River fish and animals. It is not a huge aquarium, so it really did not take a long time to get through, even if you are reading all the displays and taking your time. I super enjoyed the insectarium. Bugs aren't for every one but the displays were nice and all the information cool.

The New Orleans Aquarium is a thoughtfully designed and truly immersive experience. The layout flows naturally; beginning with exhibits that highlight the rich local habitats of Louisiana and then gradually expanding into global regions like the Amazon and Mayan areas. Each section feels purposeful, with smooth transitions and plenty of space to linger and observe. About halfway through, there’s a well-placed café. It was a perfect pause point to grab a meal before continuing the journey. The combination of regional storytelling, diverse marine life, and beautiful display design makes this aquarium both educational and inspiring. A fantastic experience and highlight of New Orleans.

At the aquarium there is a penguin ( he is in the photos ) His name is flippy.....HE LOVES THE CAMERA!

A large enough zoo that can make it a day experience depending on your pace. With various opportunities with events with some of the animals, but! They may be day specific so check the calendar. I recommend waiting to reach the swap to eat. Makes a nice halfway point and if you brought your own food or would like the cafe’s, the one at the swamp will have different dishes and you can eat with the gators. Oh for the parents they do have some light alcohol options like Truly or some other beer brands at either location. Lastly, the 1st thing you may want to do is go to gift shop and immediately buy a refrigerated spray fan… of course it won’t be cold all day but in those you’ll be so glad, also feel free to throw some ice in there to keep it cool. Hope you guys have a pleasant day 🫶

Congo Square, located within Louis Armstrong Park at 828 North Rampart Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, holds significant historical and cultural importance. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it served as a gathering place for African slaves who held rituals every Sunday evening. This was made possible by Napoleonic law which granted slaves Sundays off and provided them with a space to gather.
Finally had a chance to visit the iconic Congo Square. It is a city park filled with New Orleans tradition. From the slave trade to the beginning of Jazz the park offers some great statues and historic markers.
Fred I — Google review
Historic Congo Square, the only place colored folks were allowed to gather, dance and sing back in the day. Currently, it's encompassed by Louis Armstrong Park and still a gathering place for musical events, parades, picnics, art fairs and other public events.
David F — Google review
I love this! Congo Square is located inside of Louis Armstrong Park. The park has so much history. I would recommend this historic park. It so much rich history in this city.
Elon N — Google review
This area is deep rooted in history. Enslaved and free people of color gathered here in the 19th century for meetings, markets, and cultural celebrations. These Sunday gatherings developed jazz by serving as a rare space for African Americans to practice ancestral music and dance traditions which influenced the foundation of American music. Congo Square's history continues today through festivals and traditional drumming circles, honoring its legacy as a vital center of African American culture. Take the time to explore this deep rooted connection.

Great place for a romantic promenade in New Orleans and to connect with nature as well as your ancestors. Every Sunday from 3pm-6pm for the past 300 years there has been a drum circle. I've been to plenty of drum circles, but the vibe of this one felt richly rooted by the tree of life and the gumbo of people and cultures that bring this place to life. If you're interested show up early so you don't miss the opening ceremony. Recognizing the importance of this location from a historic and cultural perspective can easily be lost on you if you don't do your research or take a guided walking tour. I'm so grateful some locals volunteered to give me the back story as well as the best time to enjoy the park. You won't learn much by just walking around because despite there being plenty of sculptures, seating, enchanting pathways and ponds it lacks signage. Congo Square is an open space within Louis Armstrong Park, which is located inside the historic Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, just north of the French Quarter. It's easily accessed on foot or by ride share. Once you've had your fill of the vibrancy and activities in the quarter this is a great place for a meditative stroll.

The center offers innovative live animal exhibits and educational programs for visitors of all ages. It is one of the flagship locations along with other attractions like the Audubon Zoo and Aquarium. At the zoo, guests can explore diverse global wildlife habitats with a focus on conservation, including popular exhibits like the Louisiana Swamp and Jaguar Jungle.
Updated 2025 review: Great walking trails! Well maintained, well marked. The visitor center was a wealth of information and the park rangers were friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone in the area. 2019 review: The employees here are passionate about their work. I came as a single person and was welcomed into the planetarium ($8 for an adult) and it was great. The planetarium is geared to kids, but the gal doing the show was just lovely. I was not aware that the 2nd Saturday of each month is a farmers market, so that was a nice surprise. Everything else is free of charge. I walked part of the trails, and they were well maintained. I look forward to coming back and bringing friends with me.

Great place to take kids. Star were the friendliest of any nature center I have ever been too! The boardwalk trail is nice. We saw turtles and a swap rabbit. The bathrooms were very clean. They have a planetarium and a clean inside portion to the nature center as well. The path was shady and nice. Would 100% recommend this place!

When we visited some of the trails were closed but we still had a nice walk around the loop, every bit of it was boardwalk. The interpretive center was very nicely done with several live animals and our daughter was able to do some arts and crafts too. Ranger Steve in the planetarium was wonderful, he is very welcoming and a wealth of information. In fact every one we met was very welcoming. This is the perfect place for children.

Walked up and Sarah the park ranger gave me all the info on the trails and the exhibits they have to offer. I enjoyed walking the nature trails and seeing the gator. The trails are elevated so kid friendly and there is another trail that is longer but the high water has it temporarily closed. I will visit again when that part reopens.

If you haven’t made the trip out here, you definitely need to geaux! The park rangers are so genuinely passionate about what they do and enthusiastic about sharing it. The trails and the discovery exhibits are beautifully designed and maintained well. And the real STAR of the show (see what I did there?) is the planetarium experience - it’s not what you expect if you’ve been to planetariums before - this is a guided, personalized experience. It’s been weeks since we went and my kid still finds cool nature stuff on walks and asks me to send videos to Space Ranger Steve.

The Audubon Louisiana Nature Center offers peaceful scenery and nature immersion through a system of manageable length nature trails for all ages, toddlers to elderly. Options for boardwalk or dirt trails are available. The boardwalk trails have built-in benches at turn-around points perfect for those who require recovery after short distances. The Interpretive Center is only open 10am - 2pm Thurs - Sat but is worth planning your trip around if you would like to make this an educational visit or have small children to wow. While the facility is equipped with a Planetarium, it has been closed since the pandemic began and has not opened as of the writing of this review 3/2023.

Haven't been here in well over 20 years. Unfortunately, hurricanes have caused a reduction in size; however, staff was friendly & knowledgeable. Bring bug spray & water for the trails. Pay for the Planetarium show - it's worth the nominal fee, especially since there is no other admittance charge for the Nature Center or trails.

Children's amusement center
Located within the expansive 1,300-acre City Park in New Orleans, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park has been delighting families since 1906. The park features a charming antique wooden carousel, along with 16 other rides including a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and a miniature train. One of the park's highlights is the Ladybug Roller Coaster. During Christmas time, visitors can enjoy the special event called Celebration in the Oaks.
This place is magical, especially at Christmas time. They have discounted tickets midweeks. You must buy tickets in advance for a specific time slot for the driving tours.

Perspective is everything. To my seven-year-old, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park provided two hours of fun running from ride to ride. They sell pizza and ice cream. Kids love this place. (At least my seven-year-old did. However, in a few years, she'll outgrow the rides.) To parents, this place is a great way to spend a few hours visiting City Park, but it comes with a price. It was $21 for our daughter and just over $12 per parent. However, once you pay, you get unlimited rides. The rides themselves are old and run down, but the plus is there were no lines on a Sunday afternoon in April. It has clean restrooms and the train is a fun way to see a part of City Park. Next door is Storyland, a storybook-themed playground that's free.
Austin G — Google review
If I could get this place zero stars I would. The food looks so buns how u managed to undercook a burger, but then burn the burger? Not to mention half the rides r so slow and lame. The workers all look miserable. 0/10 waste your money on café Dumon instead or something
Riley — Google review
Amusement park at City Park reminds me so much of Central Park in NYC. If you’ve kids, there’s nothing like it in New Orleans ‘heaven’. I bought the Family season pass for 4 for $265 and have no regrets. Babies absolutely love it. Pay attention to the height chart, otherwise, a parent can always accompany a child almost on all the rides. Even an infant can go on 4 rides. Train, Ferris wheel, roller coaster, carousel garden etc are the highlights with 20+ Rides. They’re open from Thur - Sun from 11a-8p and I usually go on Sundays, when there’s no rush whatsoever. The staff consists of teenagers who are super friendly. I would highly recommend the Amusement park. And next door Storyland is also included with the season pass😊

I used to come here with my family as a child very often.. multiple times a year. This was my first time in 5 years and I enjoyed it so much! I felt like a kid again!!! The rides, the lights, the food, the music!!! It was AMAZING! SO MUCH FUN! My fiancé and I went twice this week!

If I could leave a 0 star I would. I’m so disappointed with how this turned out. We are from Florida and visited this amusement park on a Saturday. We showed up and were told only 2 rides were open: the carousel and the bumper cars. However the entry fee was still the same $25 each! When we got in, there were tons of employees walking around but nobody was running the two rides that were “open”. When we asked for help, they said “I don’t know who’s running this ride, this isn’t my ride, and they aren’t supposed to leave their ride” but yet nobody helped or got someone that could help. One guy even told us they were closed to the public and only open to birthday parties? But the front of the park didn’t say that and we paid. What a waste of time. What a waste of a Saturday. It was bright and sunny out, yet no riders were even running.
T J — Google review
This place has so much for the kids to see and do. I especially love the themes as they relate to my childhood. They also had many rides for the kids to enjoy. I can't wait to go again.
Angie L — Google review
The only ride that was worth it was the roller coaster and the train ride. The rest of the rides were very run down and majority of them were closed yet you still pay full price. The biggest issue was the teenagers working. They had the worst attitudes. I simply asked to ride again-mind you the ride was empty and nowhere near closing- and the girl threw her hands up, rolled her eyes, and turned around yelling angrily " you know what? I dont even care anymore". Majority of the workers were just sitting down and on their phones. 3 of the workers were playing with a ball in the middle of the walkway. The cafe was absolutely disgusting. They had 5 or six employees just sitting down yet no one bothered to clean up and yet you want people to purchase food.

While there are no nearby bathrooms, the presence of benches allows adults to supervise their kids comfortably.
Beautiful park to have a picnic or just a friendly game of tag!

Daneel Park is nice. It's right on St Charles ave. Kids like it because it has slides and it has soft rubber padding on the ground all around the play area. It's good for dog walking too.

Very nice clean place with soft astroturf surfaces for the kids and comfortable benches for parents/nannies. I was just on a long walk by myself) no kids and went into the fenced area for a short rest. Basically a perfect spot. There used to be lots more benches along the streets of New Orleans.

Danneel Park, a quick hop off the St. Charles streetcar line, is wonderful park with plenty of shade and equipment for kids of all ages and capabilities! I love this location and so does my son as there usually is plenty of other children to play with. There are a lot of benches so adults can rest while their kiddos are playing. Unfortunately there is no bathroom and part of the playground isn't gated to keep the rambunctious kiddos away from zooming traffic.

Jackson Square is a historic park in New Orleans, dating back to 1721 and surrounded by significant buildings. It's where the Louisiana Purchase was finalized and home to landmarks like The St Louis Cathedral, The Cabildo, and The Presbytere. Artists, musicians, and fortune tellers gather here, displaying their original artwork along the fence and sidewalks. While not an official market, the art on display rivals gallery pieces. Vendors have city permits and many have been selling here for decades.
I enjoyed being on this Square. The presence of St. Louis Cathedral as the oldest Cathedral in America from where the Square is beautiful. Very well maintained. There's a jazz player and you know you are in New Orleans. If you are driving a car, there's a convenient paid parking just a few minute walk to the Square and the Cathedral.

Jackson Square is one of the most charming and lively spots in New Orleans. Surrounded by beautiful historic buildings and the stunning St. Louis Cathedral, it’s the perfect place to take a walk, people-watch, or enjoy local street performers and artists. The atmosphere is vibrant and full of culture you really feel the heart of the French Quarter here. There are also plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby where you can sit and take in the view. It’s a great place for photos and to experience the true soul of New Orleans. Highly recommend visiting both during the day and at night for two totally different but equally magical vibes!

A beautiful and lively spot in the French Quarter, Jackson Square is full of energy and charm. Surrounded by historic buildings like the St. Louis Cathedral, it’s a great place to relax, take photos, and enjoy local street performers and artists. This is a beautiful historic site. I love visiting these kind of places. Sandwiched between the St. Louis Cathedral and the Mississippi River, it is a wonderful setting. Cafe Du Monde is right across the street! There is an open air market all around it with vendors of all types and some street performers also.

A lovely park on the river in New Orleans! There is a lot of space and places to sit, and it certainly is a beautiful space! There are also a lot of historical things around and plaques to read!! I continue to return every time I visit NOLA — it is where I find some of my favorite street performers. :)

So so beautiful! It was busy when we arrived, but not too difficult to walk around. It is very well kept, neat and tidy. No restrooms nearby that I know of though. Café du Monde is also 2 minutes walk from here.

Where do I even start from the artist? I got a beautiful print for $10, the weather was 71° which was perfect. The park was Right next to the trolley and the New Orleans hospitality cannot be beaten. A gentleman made us try beignets with him and coffee and paid for it because he's so proud of his state and what they have to offer. The street performers were so awesome. We need more of this in our life. Connecting with others and nature through food and art. We also check out the hat store and picked up a hat that's right along the side of the park. So there is so much to be offered here as the last stop was the cathedral and the ceiling was amaculate We had lunch at Monty's on the corner of the park a must see.
Jimmy B — Google review
Jackson Square is absolutely beautiful and a must-see for anyone visiting New Orleans! The park is full of history, charm, and energy — it perfectly captures the spirit of the city. The landscaping is well-kept, and the view of St. Louis Cathedral is stunning, especially when the sunlight hits it just right. What really makes Jackson Square special is the atmosphere — local artists displaying their work along the fences, musicians filling the air with jazz, and the smell of beignets and coffee drifting over from nearby cafés. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit, people-watch, and soak up the culture for hours. Whether you’re exploring the French Quarter for the first time or returning to experience that New Orleans magic again, Jackson Square is an absolute must-visit.

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve is a vast wetland area in New Orleans, offering boat tours, a battlefield, cemetery, and cultural centers. It's known for some of the best swamp tours in the area. Visitors can explore the bayous on swamp boats, airboats, or canoes. The park features trails like the Plantation Trail where visitors can walk through thick palmetto forests and spot wildlife such as alligators, snakes, and lizards.
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve is a true hidden gem just outside the city - where the wild beauty of Louisiana really comes alive. The serenity here is unlike anywhere else, with peaceful boardwalk trails winding through lush wetlands, moss-draped cypress trees, and the quiet sounds of nature all around. Whether you’re spotting alligators sunning themselves or simply taking in the stillness of the bayou, it’s an experience that invites reflection and awe. A perfect reminder of the natural wonder that exists just beyond the city limits. Highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with the land, breathe a little deeper, and find some peace.

Came here to go birding. There's a lot of them out here, and it's beautiful, with palms and Spanish Moss scattered throughout. Keep your eyes out for alligators too, and if you're lucky you might hear the beautiful, amazing sound of a Bird-voiced Treefrog. I was very excited to hear some, as my previous wildlife passion was reptiles and amphibians.

Beautiful area. We only did one trail but got to see alligators, alligator babies, frogs, a deer, dragonflies and some really huge spiders. It was hot but the walkway was nice. The area was kept clean and so were the restrooms.

BUG SPRAY!! It's nature, there are bugs, there are gators, there are snakes... Think before you go and you won't have an issue. Some of these comments are wild, yes there is trash but it's not nature's fault. If you see trash, pick it up if possible. If you have a problem cleaning up after people just think of it as cleaning up FOR nature. We saw about an 8ft gator right off the bat. The trail is pretty narrow as long as you keep an eye out for snake and gators you should be fine. I can't believe some of these people commenting and giving bad reviews because they saw a gator. It's the swamp dude, some people pay for that 😂. We walked the twin canals trail, not at the visitor center, about 2 miles past it.

Visited in mid-May for just the gardens. We were disappointed with how unkempt the gardens were, as well as the limited range of plant species and wide-ranging water feature issues. All of that could be overlooked to some extent with a more reasonable price. As it is, at $3 more per person than the far superior botanical garden 10 minutes away, I do not feel I received good value for my money.

I love Longue Vue. I have been coming 6 years. Every time I come the staff is lovely and kind. And the food at the cafe is great. yes it has changed a couple of years ago to what I see as a vegan/vegetarian food options the food is still great and I specifically love their bagels!! I recommend 10/10! Garlic spread specifically. The gardens? GORGEOUS The staff? MARVELOUS The home? IMMACULATE The food? DELICIOUS For all the people giving one star because the gardens are 'unkempt' how would you like to keep up 16 different gardens across 8 acres of land? It is very difficult. I have become close with the Longue Vue staff for coming here so often. If you have an issue with how the gardens look please go and volunteer yourself to clean it up and make it look beautiful. However they are still beautiful and the gardens that are 'unkempt' to you, might actually be designed to look like that. Also, "As it is, at $3 more per person than the far superior botanical garden 10 minutes away, I do not feel I received good value for my money." somebody said this in a review. If you feel that way then just go there. As I have volunteered at Longue Vue before, we have a lot of staff and a lot of land that we need to work to keep it how it was previously. Also y'all understand what weathering is correct. Old things do get dirty and it is hard to get to everything. Don't be shallow as an adult.

What a lovely tour! Just took a tour of the house, but I will be back for the combination tour of the house and gardens. The history of this house was amazing. Washington Artillery Park is a hidden gem in New Orleans, offering a picturesque outdoor space by the river with historical monuments and old artillery. Situated on top of a levee built in the 1800s to protect the city from flooding, this park provides stunning views of Jackson Square and the Mississippi River. It's an ideal spot for starting a French Quarter walking tour or capturing memorable photos with the backdrop of significant landmarks like Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral.
Washington Artillery Park is a fantastic spot to take in the beauty of New Orleans, offering one of the best vantage points of Jackson Square and the historic St. Louis Cathedral. Perched above the riverfront, it provides a peaceful overlook where you can catch the charm of the French Quarter with a touch of serenity. The park itself is dedicated to the Washington Artillery, a historic military unit, and features a cannon as a tribute, adding a unique historical aspect to the scenic views. From this spot, you can see street performers below, jazz bands filling the air with lively music, and the bustle of people enjoying New Orleans. It’s a popular spot for photos, especially during sunset, when the colors illuminate the cathedral and the Mississippi River in the background. Given its central location, it’s easy to stop by for a quick break while exploring the area, making it both convenient and memorable. For anyone visiting Jackson Square, Washington Artillery Park is a must-stop, whether for the view, the history, or simply a moment to soak in the atmosphere of New Orleans.

This is a fantastic place to visit during the sunset. You can enjoy a great view of the river and the Jackson Square with the Saint Louis Church as background. This is definitely not somewhere you should bring your children. There were several homeless persons sleeping on the benches and under trees. Some appeared to be very inebriated or high. The Park itself was beautiful with newer looking playground equipment and lots of mature trees. It seems very well maintained but we did not feel comfortable letting the kids play and all of the benches were occupied.

Known for its festive spirit of the Mardi Gras and vibrant nightlife. New Orleans has a lot more to offer. The rich history and beauty are almost mystical. In particular, Washington Artillery Park and Jackson Square. Even though not considered entirely safe for travelers, it remains a personal preference. The Coliseum Square Park was the centerpiece of a New Faubourg built over Madame Delord-Sarpy’s plantation. The three acre park was designed in 1806 by a French Architect. It has been remodeled over the years and is still a lovely spot. The park is shady with a lot of seating. Large open areas allow children to have fun playing but there is no playground equipment as such.

People were letting their dogs cool off in the huge, shallow fountain and it was surrounded by benches to hang out in the sun and about a block or two of green space underneath huge, amazing old oak trees. People were scattered around on blankets or not, just reading or chilling out. Very cool. One guy was even in a hammock (not sure if anyone was going to yell at him for using the old trees but it seemed ok)

I love this little park. I love the sound of the water and the location. It's a great place to sit and talk with someone. Of just relax.

Large open space, beautiful old live oaks, an tire swing and a very nice large fountain. Just watch your step in the grass, not everyone picks up behind their dog. Even though bags are provided

I’m not sure why I haven’t been to this park before but what a lovely find in the middle of the city! I went for jazz in the park on friday and it was absolutely lovely. There were families, couples, friends all enjoying the music dancing and chatting and eating and drinking.

Lakeshore Park is a sprawling park located in the heart of downtown Toronto. The park features a variety of amenities including a lake, playground, and sports fields. In addition, the park is home to several cultural and historical attractions, including the Royal Ontario Museum and Queen's Park. The park is open daily from 7am to 11pm.
Great to hang out at and relax. Nice clean and quiet. If you fish great for fishing. Wish I had brought my fishing pole. Will visit again soon.

Walking here is an amazing time. It’s so beautiful and relaxing. The best serotonin boost in New Orleans.

Very tranquil. Wish it had more seatings and trash cans. There is a lot of littering due to the lack of trash cans throughout the whole waterwalk.
Blue L — Google review
Beautiful. Am I in Southern California or NOLA? Great spot for sunset.
Jackson F — Google review
Beautiful up along the walkway, at a glance, but if you really look it's kind of scary. We found razor blades all along the stepped areas (we picked up and discarded 27 but no telling how many we didn't see!) and there were used diapers, needles/syringes, and trash scattered everywhere. Also needs to be more facilities. Fishing and crabbing were pretty good here, catfish were biting on blue crab and jumbo whole shrimp.
Amanda S — Google review
Beautiful lakefront park. You’ll have to climb up the hill to get there but there is a nice grassy patch with some tables, then benches along the water with stairs down to the water. Great for laying out on a sunny afternoon.

The Singing Oak is a beautiful, peaceful and serene tree that is a popular tourist attraction in New Orleans. It features wind chimes that are as long as 14 feet, and part of the charm of the tree is just finding it. The oak is located in City Park, and is a great place to relax and take in the beautiful sights and sounds of New Orleans.
Very beautiful! Part of a much larger park that has a little something for everyone. Beautiful scenic walks, a sculpture garden, amusement park, and probably other things i didn't get to!
Audri — Google review
Fun experience. Within a few minutes of listening to the tree sing to us, the mood and vibrations elevated. I felt at home and calm. We did catch it on a rainy day so the grass was overgrown and some parts were wet, but worth the trouble to hear that oak tree sing.
Katana M — Google review
A whimsical experience as you let this marvellous oak tree create strange and ominous sounds as you lie beneath An old, spectacular tree. I like to imagine the history which unfolds as the oak continues its seemingly boundless timeline. Older than the “USA” itself perhaps. Certainly older than any of its onlookers today. One thing is for sure- this oak is worth visiting, and it is the second best oak in the park.
Max R — Google review
Utterly magical. The gorgeous 125-year old live oak is majestic. The wind chimes amidst the branches are beautiful and the music they make? Breathtaking.
M V — Google review
Absolutely stunning. I could hang out here forever if I could. Inspires me to try to do the same at my home.
Savvy B — Google review
We love the park where the singing Oak tree is located. We wanted to actually stand under the tree, but the grass was too high to walk over to it. It did look beautiful with the sunset in the background. I visited New Orleans for a girls trip and this park was a beautiful sight to visit. Follow me for more on Instagram @naturalhaitraveler

There are so many fantastic oak trees in City Park that it may be difficult to locate this one. We used Google Maps and it led us right to it. Upon entering the park turn right and it’s a few hundred yards. The music will only be heard when very near. Fortunately for us it was a breezy day and it was fantastic.

It's a very beautiful park.

The Marsalis Harmony Park was previously Palmer Park. The park is nice but with a little care could be much nicer. Being at the end of the Number Twelve streetcar line brings a lot of visitors. The trees are beautiful and the small play area is nice. Unfortunately there is a fair amount of litter and homeless people sleeping on benches.
Louis E — Google review
Attended the monthly open air Arts Market event on Saturday. I enjoyed the live music series, the food vendors as well as the native talent. A great place to source eclectic items for gift giving. Friends of the Library had discounted books for purchase there ranging as low as 50 cents. Make sure to bring your shopping bags to free up your hands, a wide brim hat for sun protection and shades. There are a few sitting areas depending on the time of arrival. The swings need to be fixed. Only one working swings. Hard to see kids waiting for 15 minutes to use the swing. Also the red spinning seat needs WD-40, it barely spins.

The park features a variety of activities including archery, tennis, fishing, and canoeing/kayaking during the summer. Visitors can enjoy a scenic walking path, running track, sports fields, gym, pool, playground equipment and various exercise classes.
I went swimming today. There's an indoor swimming pool. Adult aerobics classes are Mon-Fri. at 9am. You can also free swim, i. e; do your own thing. The water is about 80 degrees. Come and get your swim on.

Gorgeous facilities. We used the victory track and field for our O-D All American Bowl games. Bathrooms and concessions were as good as any High School! The parking is a little confusing and you can end up going in circles if you don't know that there are large Lots if you keep going straight back!

This is a nice park in New Orleans East. It's got a walking path that meanders through the park, a running track, sports fields, gym, pool, playground equipment, and outdoor activities. During certain times of year, they offer free canoeing and fishing for the general public on Saturdays. NORDC has done a good job with this park.

Parisite DIY Skatepark is much more than a collection of ramps, rails, and bowls—it's a sanctuary for self-expression, camaraderie, and empowerment. Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, this grassroots skatepark stands as a testament to what people can achieve when they come together with a shared vision. It’s a place where you’re always welcomed with open arms and leave feeling inspired by the power of community. What makes Parisite special is its raw authenticity. This isn’t just a skatepark; it’s a story of resilience. Whether you're a seasoned skater, a curious beginner, or someone who simply enjoys the energy of community spaces, Parisite has something to offer. It’s not uncommon to see an experienced skater pausing to teach a child their first trick or a group of strangers cheering on someone as they attempt a daring move. The sense of unity here transcends age, skill level, and background. Everyone belongs. The skatepark is also a hub for creativity. From vibrant graffiti art on the walls to pop-up events and fundraisers, Parisite pulses with life. Jared K — Google review
My son was really impressed and so was I, it was well maintained and cared for -eben being blown out by a skater to keep the sand and leaves from creating skills issues.
Melinda T — Google review
I'm a kid who likes to ride my scooter around, but I lacked any action with stuff like ramps, bowls, & other people to interact with that has the same interest. Since this was the only skatepark around, I tried it. When I arrived, I was overwhelmed with so many options to take my ride for a spin. I first went on the big open area with small ramps and bars and whatnot. Later, I went to the ramp playground. It was my favorite! Then I rode in the bowl. With much room for riding but not completely empty. Also very clean. The sound of I-610 may sound like too much to handle, you will get used to it. There are no mean or rude people and I had no problem of anyone else. There were no fees for playing, even for like 4 hours of nonstop playing! The only con is a lack of a bathroom (at least for me). Some questions & ideas: Where's the bathroom? Can you replace the wood blocks in the big open area? I got some splinters. There's a open part beyond the fence into a forest. What is it? Is the pool permanently closed or does it open during the summer?
Him — Google review
Happened across this place while in NOLA on vacation. Nice big bowl, street course and assorted grind areas. There is a halfpipe in the process of being constructed, needs ply and masonite to be complete. My son really enjoyed it and made new friends while there. Being under the overpass keeps folks out of the sun.
Adam M — Google review
This park is really cool. It’s like NOLA’s own Burnside or something. Reminds me a bit of Washington St. park back in San Diego as well. They’ve got a really cool snaking vert section and bowl, as well as a great quarter pipe/pyramid/ledge run underneath the freeway. On the outer edge of the park there’s a large assortment of different-sized fun boxes that makes for a good grind-line section. There are some cracks in the floor, and it is is DIY, so some areas are a bit rough around the edges, but all-in-all Parisite is one of the most legit DIY parks I’ve ever been to. Be careful coming late at night — the homeless sleep next door and will lob rocks over the fence.

John McDonough was an extremely generous man and left money for the city to build a multitude of playgrounds and over thirty public schools. This is a large playground with a football field, stands, a covered basketball court, restrooms and playground equipment. The problem is vandals constantly tear up what kids should be enjoying. Other than that, this would be a great place to play.
Louis E — Google review
This playground has the potential to be amazing. The kids are always out there playing basketball & football enjoying themselves but the play area is horrible and the lights are hardly working. The kids can’t play football bc there are missing lights around the field. The kids always complain about not being able to see the football in the air because certain areas are dark bc the lights are out. I understand that the park director put in a request to have the lights fixed months ago but NORDC hasn’t sent anybody over to fix them. Let’s hope nothing bad happens out there bc there little to no visibility on the field bc NORDC is neglecting to fix the lights

I just happened upon the Clouet Gardens and my first impression was Wow. This is a really nice area, shady, tranquil and very nicely done. To have such a special spot in a neighborhood is really great. I was there on a Monday and was the only one there. The grounds are well maintained with ample seating and lots of things to see. Meh.....this place was disappointing. Went Tuesday late afternoon. Except for some chess tables, there's nothing there and no one there. Though, I imagine there was some sort of party maybe the day before cuz when I walked in, to the right there was nothing but empty drinking bottles of all sorts. So there was a party there not to long ago. Shame I missed it. Call BEFORE you go to see if there's anything going on. The mosaic wall and the shell wind chime were the only interesting things there.

This is a very large and very well equipped park. I am very surprised it is not a lot more crowded than it is. Drinking fountains, bicycle tire inflation stations, tons of grassy areas, seating and a lot of shade trees. This is a really good park, very spacious.

Sydney H — Google review
This by far is the best place to park your car. Forget searching around and wasting even more time to try and squeeze into the worst parallel park situations. This park has been gentrified and is across from the visitor station as well as a police station. Whatever someone from the city might tell you about it they're only reminiscing about the past.
Hugh N — Google review
It's a very small park, but rather pretty. There is a small set of bleachers, a basketball court, benches, a small playground area for children and a few trash cans for convenience. All that being said, there is a large grass area, which is perfect for picnics. There are also a few large trees which make for lots of awesome shady spots. This park isn't the best I've ever been to or even the best I've ever seen, but it's a cute little park. It's usually quiet and there usually aren't too many people around. Also, it has a beautiful view of the high-rise buildings on Canal St, which makes for great photography opportunities.
