Mardi Gras World is a massive 400,000-square-foot complex where the iconic Mardi Gras floats are crafted and stored. It offers hourly tours for visitors to witness the creation of these elaborate floats. In addition to this festive attraction, New Orleans boasts several other cultural and historical sites. The Cabildo Louisiana State Museum and the Presbytere provide insights into the city's and Louisiana's history, while the New Orleans Jazz Museum showcases the city's contribution to jazz music.
This is a great “Level 2” experience for New Orleans visitors. You get to take a behind the scenes look at how these enormous Mardi Gras floats are constructed. It’s a must see for makers, prop and set designers and sculptors!
Tim H — Google review
Mardi Gras World was an ok experience. My family and I had the opportunity to see floats and props that had been previously used, as well as see workers creating new floats. This museum is a bit out of the way if you are staying in the French Quarter area or surrounding areas. Not sure if it is worth paying an uber ride. I also read (somewhere😳) that parking was $20. We purchased the tickets via Groupon, so at least we did not spend much.
Lilia E — Google review
This was amazing! We learned more than we imagined. Could not believe everything that goes into making these huge floats. Free shuttle pick ups are great help! Thank you for the slice of king cake also! Really enjoyed the tour!
Jill B — Google review
This was an interesting stop — it’s cool to see the hangars where the Mardi Gras floats are built and get a peek behind the scenes. The guide was really knowledgeable and shared some fun history and stories about the floats they’ve made for different events. That said, I felt the price was a bit high for what you get. The tour is mostly walking around and looking at the floats — not a lot of hands-on activities or interactive displays. It might be more exciting for kids, but adults might expect a bit more. Also, the walk from the parking lot was pretty hot since it’s a bit of a distance. Overall, worth checking out once for the experience, but I wish there was a little more to do inside.
Alper Y — Google review
Mardi Gras magic in the making! Loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at the float-building process—so much color and creativity. Our tour guide was fantastic: engaging, knowledgeable, and fun. It’s a great stop for families or anyone curious about New Orleans culture. Just a heads-up: the warehouse isn’t air-conditioned, so plan for a cooler day to stay comfortable.
Natalie H — Google review
A really cool experience! I loved being able to see all the previous props and of course, the free slice of king cake! Calling to get a ride from the free shuttle sucks... But getting a ride after the tour was easy.
Angelica H — Google review
Such a fun and unique history to the New Orleans area! We really enjoyed the tour, the video about Mardi Gras, and seeing the props and floats! Our tour guide did a great job answering questions to the best of her ability and sharing much about the warehouse!
Trista G — Google review
The colors in this place are fascinating and you learn how to how they make the floats. The only problem is there's no handicap parking and I am handicap at the moment and had to walk two blocks and that was awful.

Jazz club
Preservation Hall, located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, is a historic venue dedicated to preserving and honoring the city's jazz tradition. Established in 1961, this no-frills space with wooden floors and minimal seating offers an intimate and authentic jazz experience. Despite its lack of air-conditioning, it continues to attract crowds eager to witness performances by the renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
In the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans lies Preservation Hall, a legendary venue dedicated to keeping the spirit of traditional New Orleans jazz alive. Since its founding in 1961, this humble space has been filled with the sound of live jazz every single night. There are no microphones, no flashy lights—just the raw energy of the musicians and the pure sound of their instruments. Seating is limited, and sometimes you’ll even find yourself sitting on the floor, but that only makes the experience more authentic and powerful. The resident Preservation Hall Jazz Band tours the world and is considered one of the cultural ambassadors of New Orleans. For any jazz lover, this place is nothing short of sacred. Thanks to its central location in the French Quarter, it’s easy to stop by while exploring the city—but with such limited seating, booking in advance is highly recommended. If you want to experience the true essence of New Orleans at night, Preservation Hall is the place to be.
Yusuke — Google review
I had the chance to experience Preservation Hall about ten years ago, and when I returned to New Orleans recently, I didn’t think twice about going back. It was just as amazing as I remembered! The musicians are incredibly talented, and the whole experience feels so authentic. Close your eyes, and it’s like you’re in a movie ❤️absolutely magical. A must-do in NOLA!
Sabrina S — Google review
We had a wonderful time here! Short 45 min concert but sooo entertaining! It’s a small area and you’re right there with the musicians. All of them are so talented and we enjoyed every single minute! Definitely recommend.
Cassie F — Google review
Great jazz venue, talented musicians, friendly staff. I highly recommend attending a concert here if you are visiting New Orleans. Sitting space fills up pretty quickly, so it’s best to purchase tickets in advance.
Olga S — Google review
This was by far the most wonderful experience in such an unexpected way. It was truly authentic jazz music. We felt it in our soul and enjoyed it so much more than we ever expected. Highly recommend. We bought tickets about 2 weeks ahead of time and got to the hall about 30 minutes early. That worked out great.
Erica C — Google review
This was the highlight of the trip. If tickets were available, I would have spent the money to go back. If you are a fan of joy and love music this is a must stop. In a little room, 6 musicians just absolutely bring it. We spent money on front row and in all honesty, it was a steal. The only unfortunate thing is they ask you not to photograph or video. Thankfully the memories will be in my head for as long as I have my brain functions. The musicians were awesome…but a special shout out to Ronell Johnson. Not only did he rule the trombone, but stuck around after the show for pictures and laughs until we were out the door. Such an awesome dude.
Sean R — Google review
Wow!!! A must go in your New Orleans visit. The highlight of our family trip… What an amazing experience. We were there on Monday, August 11 for our twins birthday. The music was unforgettable… the band members were so warm, funny and TALENTED! We would love to hear them again. Really ANY seat is perfect because it is a small venue- very intimate. Thank you for making our evening so memorable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable Night at Preservation Hall A Must in NOLA! Pure magic in an intimate jazz haven! The All-Stars blew us away with their legendary talent and energy. You feel the history in every note. Book ahead (it sells out!) and arrive early for the best seats. Why Preservation Hall stands out: 👌Iconic venue, tiny but mighty, with unbeatable acoustics 🎺 World-class musicians – The All-Stars deliver a once-in-a-lifetime show 🚫 No outside drinks but can be purchased once you enter Perfect for music lovers & first-timers alike! No frills, just raw, soul-stirring jazz in the heart of NOLA. Don’t miss this it’s the real deal!

The New Orleans Museum of Art, also known as NOMA, is housed in a magnificent marble building and boasts an extensive collection of over 40,000 artworks from global artists spanning various historical periods. Louisiana residents can take advantage of free admission on select Saturdays in August through The Helis Foundation's Art & A/C initiative.
This review is mostly about the sculpture gardens. Although the museum is nice, it's the sculpture gardens that really wow you. The landscapes, combined with the outdoor art is just incredible. Paths wander around ponds, and sculptures are located along the paths, each one has a plaque telling you who the artist is and when it was sculpted. We went during the week, so it was probably less crowded. So many great photo opportunities along the way. Highly recommend going. What a gem.

It’s an amazing place to visit if you are ever in New Orleans. They have beautiful exhibits and interesting free programs. The museum is spacious and exhibits are easy to navigate. The museum is located inside a lovely park with a lake. All staff members are friendly and helpful. I only wish we had more time to spend at the museum and at the park.
Olga S — Google review
The New Orleans Museum of Art is such a hidden gem. The rotating exhibits are always something special and worth checking out each visit. The permanent collections are fantastic too—especially the galleries on Africa, China, and Orientalism. Beautifully curated, peaceful, and inspiring every time. A must for art lovers in the city.
Stephen B — Google review
So much beautiful and dramatic art to view. The museums provides info of the time period, meaningful symbolism and history behind lot of it the pieces of art. Definitely a must see when you come to New Orleans and I love how the botanical garden and the sculpture garden is close by. Staff was friendly and helpful and restrooms were clean!
Kathleen R — Google review
This is a wonderful place to visit if you appreciate art. They consistently have a great variety of pieces on display. Plus, there are always fresh exhibits being introduced to keep things interesting. The cafe is also quite lovely, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. I highly recommend stopping by for an enjoyable afternoon.
Jash M — Google review
Beautiful exhibits! I didn't expect to find so many famous paintings in here. The museum has three floors, a lot of classic art, but also modern art and ancient artifacts from all over the world! The museum is spacious and quiet. It also have a cafeteria and a nice gift shop

Best spot to cool off during the week. Free on weds for Louisiana residents. Sculpture garden is great when it’s cooler outside. Must visit for anyone in the area.

The African Masquerades exhibit was a breathtaking celebration of artistry, tradition, and cultural storytelling. From the moment I walked in, I was surrounded by vibrant colors, intricate carvings, and masks that seemed to carry the spirit of centuries-old rituals.

National museum
The National WWII Museum, located in the Warehouse District, is a sprawling complex of modern buildings that offers a world-class history museum experience. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits featuring submarines, planes, and a 4-D theater. The museum provides detailed accounts of the war through large narrative exhibits with personal eyewitness stories and utilizes various mediums such as film, immersive displays, reconstructions, and oral histories.
I had the privilege of stepping into one of the most moving and humbling places I’ve ever visited — The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. As someone with a deep passion for history, and especially the events of the Second World War, walking through its halls was far more than a tour… it was a journey through the courage, sacrifices, and resilience of an entire generation. Absolutely amazing, amazing institution. The museum is perfectly chronologically structured, with ample halls and huge displays. The stories, the faces, the voices — they stay with you long after you leave. If you ever find yourself in New Orleans, I wholeheartedly , highly recommend taking the time to experience this museum. It’s not just about learning history… it’s about feeling it. The impression it leaves is powerful and deeply touching.
Marian R — Google review
This is an awesome exhibit dedicated to all Americans who participated in World War II. The photos do not do this place justice. Every exhibit was heavily themed and made you feel like you were in the war. This place also has exhibits that appeal for everyone. My wife is completely disinterested in "old dead white guy history", but she found all of the museum fascinating. She really enjoyed the home front exhibit that depicted what people were doing domestically for the war effort. My favorite part of the museum was the interactive digital video chat they had with veterans. I feel like this was a very hidden gem of the museum, and I could have spent all day talking to the people.
Brandon V — Google review
This museum is absolutely phenomenal! You can tell it was created with deep thought, care, and purpose. The space is massive, filled with immersive, interactive exhibits that pull you in and keep you exploring for hours. The volunteers and docents are incredible; genuinely enthusiastic, deeply knowledgeable, and patient with every curious question. You could easily spend two full days here and still come back to find something new and meaningful. War and the horrors that come with it are never easy to witness, but this museum approaches the subject with unflinching honesty and immense respect. It doesn’t sugarcoat the pain, yet it beautifully honors the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who lived through it. If you’re a history lover, this place will move you, challenge you, and stay with you long after you leave. It’s an unforgettable experience!
Phoenix D — Google review
One of the best "national" level museums I've been to. The exhibits are professional, the interactive features are not overly immersive, and time sized for a day trip. The films (added cost, well worth it) are well done and added to the experience. I appreciate the level of detail the museum has taken. Obviously WW2 had some type A personalities, but the museum has taken a "micro" instead of "macro" approach to the storytelling. Most of the displays and narratives focus on the nuanced stories of the junior enlisted and officers. How their lives were, things they did, details that elicit the emotion that is often glossed over. A+, will return with my family.
John M — Google review
The National World War II Museum in New Orleans is an extraordinary and deeply moving experience that far exceeded expectations. The museum is massive, thoughtfully organized into different sections that cover both the European and Pacific Theatres in remarkable detail. Each exhibit tells the story of the war through powerful visuals, personal accounts, and an impressive collection of artifacts and memorabilia. From uniforms and weapons to letters, photographs, and vehicles, every display helps you understand not just the historical events, but also the human experiences behind them. One of the most meaningful aspects is the presence of volunteers—including actual World War II veterans—who are available to share stories and answer questions. Hearing firsthand perspectives from those who lived through that era adds a level of authenticity and emotion that no textbook can provide. The museum also dedicates significant space to the Holocaust and the liberation of the concentration camps, presenting it with the sensitivity and gravity it deserves. The section on Anne Frank is especially impactful, offering a personal lens into the unimaginable suffering and resilience of that time. It’s a place where you can easily spend an entire day immersed in history, reflection, and learning. The museum combines education and emotion beautifully, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling to New Orleans or interested in understanding the global impact of World War II.
J G — Google review
What a sprawling museum, helpful staff. To properly view everything, I would suggest 2 full days. Also make sure to watch the 48 minute 4d movie Beyond All Boundaries, extremely well worth the cost. There is $30 parking lot adjacent to the entrance to the museum.
Los M — Google review
Simply amazing. It takes you a few hours to see everything. Lots of information videos pictures and artefacts from the wall. It helps you understand the history of the wall the different battles and everything. Loved the experience
Ivanna R — Google review
This was the best history museum I've been to in the U.S. I'm fortunate to live close to D.C., Philadelphia, and other cities with a lot of history and great museums, but this topped those easily. The WWII museum goes all out with comprehensive, interactive experiences that make it easy to follow key events throughout the war. They did a nice job ensuring that each section in an exhibit flows naturally into the next, creating a narrative you want to follow -- which makes a lot of sense since Stephen Ambrose was a driving force behind the museum. Give yourself almost a full day to spend here. It's massive.

Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, situated in Downtown New Orleans along the Mississippi River, is a renowned attraction that offers an immersive underwater experience. It features diverse exhibits showcasing marine life from various regions including the Caribbean, Amazon Rainforest, and local waters like the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico. With over 3,600 animals representing more than 250 species, including endangered African penguins and rare white alligators, visitors are treated to a memorable encounter with aquatic creatures.
I loved it, everything was amazing and informative. The staff were interactive and kind. The insects were interesting and the aquarium was really beautiful. The gift shop was also very wonderful, got my family souvenirs which were all made from recycled materials. Highly recommend<3.
A. M — Google review
This was a cute little aquarium. I enjoyed the fact that they had a section dedicated to Mississippi River fish and animals. It is not a huge aquarium, so it really did not take a long time to get through, even if you are reading all the displays and taking your time. I super enjoyed the insectarium. Bugs aren't for every one but the displays were nice and all the information cool.
Amy H — Google review
The New Orleans Aquarium is a thoughtfully designed and truly immersive experience. The layout flows naturally; beginning with exhibits that highlight the rich local habitats of Louisiana and then gradually expanding into global regions like the Amazon and Mayan areas. Each section feels purposeful, with smooth transitions and plenty of space to linger and observe. About halfway through, there’s a well-placed café. It was a perfect pause point to grab a meal before continuing the journey. The combination of regional storytelling, diverse marine life, and beautiful display design makes this aquarium both educational and inspiring. A fantastic experience and highlight of New Orleans.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. All the staff were fabulous! Loved how excited they all were to chat about the animals. They made the visit so much more fun! Shout out to Blake- your love for your job at the aquarium is infectious! Thank you! Sad that the snorkeling experience isn't currently available. *Little tip: If you are planning to do the aquarium and the zoo you can add the zoo ticket for a little less than $10 more for a regular entry fee at the front desk or online. Make sure that the zoo is open on the day you want to go, they are closed Tues-Weds. You also need to use that second ticket within a few days- double check on that, too. Enjoy! #audubonaquarium #audubonzoo #neworleanskids #neworleansfamily

So we jumped on the website for the zoo and bought the three attractions package! It's VERY WORTH IT!!!! The insectarium and the aquarium are together and then it's a 20 Min ride up to the zoo. We had a blast! Get the bundle deal! The butterflys are so awesome, they will land on you. I got some great shots of the big ones! At the aquarium there is a penguin ( he is in the photos ) His name is flippy.....HE LOVES THE CAMERA!
Brayel A — Google review
A large enough zoo that can make it a day experience depending on your pace. With various opportunities with events with some of the animals, but! They may be day specific so check the calendar. I recommend waiting to reach the swap to eat. Makes a nice halfway point and if you brought your own food or would like the cafe’s, the one at the swamp will have different dishes and you can eat with the gators. Oh for the parents they do have some light alcohol options like Truly or some other beer brands at either location. Lastly, the 1st thing you may want to do is go to gift shop and immediately buy a refrigerated spray fan… of course it won’t be cold all day but in those you’ll be so glad, also feel free to throw some ice in there to keep it cool. Hope you guys have a pleasant day 🫶

This place was great!! The mermaids and the penguins were the favorites for the kids. My daughter didn't want to leave the mermaid, she was sooo excited. We always love to see the sea turtles and jellyfish. As always we had to get some plushes to remember the trip.

Our grandson LOVED the special exhibit of mythical creatures! He HAD to get on every single one that had a saddle !!! It made my soul so happy to see him rolling/ running down monkey hill! That marks the 4th generation of my family that has played on that hill!! It brought tears to my eyes!!! The thing he loved the absolute best was seeing the sea lions!!

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Located in New Orleans, Audubon Zoo is a renowned destination that offers a diverse range of animal exhibits designed to replicate their natural habitats. Visitors can observe Amur leopards, orangutans, and rare white alligators among other fascinating creatures. The zoo's Louisiana Swamp exhibit provides an immersive experience with alligators, nutrias, and catfish. Additionally, the zoo features engaging presentations such as the Reptile Encounter and captivating exhibits like the Komodo dragon display.
It was fantastic. The exterior designs of the zoo were divided by all the cultural diversity areas of the world and which animals originated from. There's so much to see you'd have to stay here for the whole day just to be able to see it all. There is a small Waterpark area if you have kids or it's just too hot outside. There's also a restaurant that is not considerably expensive. it's most snack food to relax and to continue with your sightseeing of the animals. It does take a long time before entering the zoo.

We love being members here. It’s got something for everyone and perfectly located in the city so you feel like you in a totally different place. We enjoyed the shaded areas during a hot summer day. The food wasn’t bad either when we took a short break while it sprinkled. One of the coolest places was an area for the kids to play and cool off in the heat. My twins didn’t want to leave until I told them we were heading to see the gators. They have a beautiful collection of animals and it was really clean everywhere we went.

What an amazing zoo! Spent 4.5 hours and wish I had more time to spend. The animals looked well cared for and there is a large diversity of animals. Feeding the giraffes lettuce was 10 seconds of fun for $5. Only downside is that the park map doesnt fully match the pathways available to walk - several people including myself were "lost" a few times.

Such a great zoo!! I spent about 2 hours here & had a great time. Very clean. Helpful & educated staff. Animals look like they are being taken care of very well. I try to visit a zoo everywhere I travel now & this was one of the best. I purchased my tickets in advance just in case there was going to be any long lines because I went on Halloween. I got there when it opened & didn’t have to wait in line at all.

What a wonderful experience! I was a little sad that they did not have reciprocal pricing for AZA accredited zoos, since we are a part of our local AZA accredited zoo. But the money you pay is definitely worth what you get to see. Inside the park was a little pool area (that costs extra) where you and the kiddos can hang out on a hot day. Unfortunately, that was not something out group knew about so we didn't wear water appropriate clothing - although it would have helped because oh my gosh, was it hot when we went there. They have the zoo divided up into areas, and some of my favorite things to see was the ocelot, tapirs and the maned wolf (so which I was so thrilled!). They also have a cute little area dedicated specifically to the bayou and had a store where you could somewhat get out of the heat and cool down. It can take about two to three hours to cover the whole entire zoo, which is a lot of walking but - like I said entirely worth it. I went to the aquarium a few years back, and this definitely out did the aquarium! So if you're only able to do one - the zoo wins out!

We went recently to the boo at the zoo. Not being our first time to the zoo but the BATZ event, both are great! We love the zoo in the first place, 2 visits and the membership pays for itself. Theres always things to see there and its got plenty of quiet spots to take a break and eat picnic lunch. The BATZ event had enough new things to spend the whole day!

went to the zoo today for a feild trip, the animals are bored , no enrichment AT ALL. The habitats arent even habitable, they have dirty water , no toys to play with , half of the enclosures werent able to see , half of the animals werent out which is understandable bc it was hot but still people put so much money into to this zoo but they arent doing anything to make it habitable for the animals for even fun im truly disappointed by how things looked , i couldnt be happy bc of how depressed and bored these animals looked. I was looking at one animal and then in the far back i seen another that looks locked up pacing back n forth , i came back at least 20 min later and it was STILL doing the same thing One of the female loins were pacing back n forth for a minute aslo. Even the reptiles have enclosures that are so small for them , some snakes cant even climb which maybe im just thinking wrong but snakes need good enclosures also (they werent horrible just small in my opinion) the monkeys have nothing to play with they expect a hog looking animal to play with a freaking tire swing? literally had nothing playful in that enclosure And yeah maybe some animals are “playfull” but they still need ENRICHMENT I am truly disappointed with Audubon Zoo

Step into the rich history of New Orleans at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, which was once an apothecary dating back to 1823. This museum showcases early medicines, superstitious cures, and more. Immerse yourself in the city's roots in apothecary as you explore America's first licensed apothecary. Additionally, you can delve into the city's history by visiting other historic home museums such as Historic BK House and Hermann-Grima.
One of the most interesting museums I’ve ever been to. Filled with old medical tools, medicine bottles, and information about it all. There are so many interesting facts to read about and the building is part of the history too! If you enjoy learning about medical history, and/or seeing how far medicine has come, you’ll enjoy this museum. I think I could have spent at least a couple hours here reading and looking at everything. It’s really fascinating.

I had the absolute HONOR of proposing to my fiancée in the courtyard of the Pharmacy Museum, and I couldn’t have pulled it off without the very lovely and kind Rose! She went above and beyond to make sure the proposal was perfect, working with my photographer, setting up candles, and even using her awesome acting skills. I’m so grateful. The museum fit our aesthetic to a T. It’s full of knowledge, character, and so many cool things to see. My fiancée was the most beautiful thing in there, but the leech jar is a close second! Thank you, Rose, I hope we see you again on our bachelor/bachelorette trip. New Orleans will definitely be seeing us again!

Mostly Ghostly Tour was absolutely fantastic! Grace was our tour guide and she did a fantastic job taking us back in time to show us the medical world in the 1800s and how it progressed and changed throughout history. It was honestly the highlight of our trip. We will be doing it again when we return to the area. I advise anyone wanting to visit the pharmacy museum, to opt for a tour (if in October, the Mostly Ghostly Tour is worth it!). While you can look around and get the facts from detail cards, it’s truly an experience when you get a tour. We also appreciated that there was parking just around the corner.

The Guided Tour is the way to go at this historic and delightful museum. The Guides perform hour long journey in a time machine full of wit and wisdom. They are so engaging and informative. I learned so much about the medicinal history, and also the history of New Orleans. Its a unique and special spot!

I highly recommend Grace as a tour guide / leader. You will love her interpretation of the facts. One hour spent with her was amazing. Tours are only available during weekend so I understand the constraints.

The Backstreet Cultural Museum in New Orleans is a small but vibrant institution that delves into the city's rich traditions. Founded by Sylvester Francis, it began as a display of his photos and Mardi Gras Indian memorabilia in his garage before growing into a non-profit museum.
This was the part of my trip to NOLA that I was most looking forward to and it absolutely exceeded my expectations! The staff are so passionate and knowledgeable, the suits are so meticulously crafted and absolutely gorgeous to behold. I learned so much and have been raving to anyone who will listen about how this is not a place to miss. If I could give them all 10 stars, I would! Thank you all so much!!

This was the highlight of my New Orleans visit!!! I loved learning about the Culture of the Black Indians of New Orleans. Learning about the process of creating the regalia and how much detail goes into it first hand from those of the culture like Brother Horace & OohLaLa was amazing. Staff highly knowledgeable and the collection is beautiful. Highly Recommended for anybody that wants to know about the real culture of New Orleans.

A MUST SEE. Bourbon St and French Market are your normal New Orlean sites, but if you want to see the "culture", you have to visit the Treme neighborhood and see this museum! The pieces are exquisite

The culture and history at this museum is rich. The guides at the museum are very knowledgeable and also part of the culture, so you get an almost immersive experience bc of their knowledge and the costumes all around. Mr. Sylvester amassed an impressive collection. It was truly a great experience!!!

My daughter, Mom and I recently visited the Backstreet Cultural Museum which is located in the Treme area. We found out that the Treme is the oldest African-American neighborhood in the United States. The Backstreet Cultural Museum has beautiful and intricate memorabilia only from Mardi Gras, jazz funerals and traditions you will only find in New Orleans. All 3 of us were amazed by the costumes designs - their colors, beading , intricate details, the designers and hours they put into them. They were each made by people living in the community! Before coming here, we had never heard of the Mardi Gras Indians. We learned about their history and connection to African Americans in the south and dedicate how they sought safety in the south. This museum and tour was a great history lesson for all of us. Our tour guide was exceptional, with a wealth of historical knowledge that added depth to the exhibits. The museum personnel were friendly and welcoming, making the visit a pleasant one for families. It was a great experience overall, and I highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage of African Americans and the Mardi Gras Indians as well as their integration.

The Louisiana Children's Museum is a vibrant and interactive space that offers a blend of indoor and outdoor exhibits, providing an engaging experience for kids. The museum features hands-on activities that cover various subjects such as literacy, health, science, arts, and the environment in a fun and experiential way. With its move to a new location in City Park, the museum now boasts extensive outdoor exhibits including an edible garden, mock grocery store, and water play area by the lagoon.
This was our first time visiting the museum and our 5-year-old absolutely loved all the activities—his favorites were the pretend play kitchen and water play. They have a beautiful outdoor space where parents can relax while the kids play. He didn’t want to leave and is already asking to come back! This place was a highlight of our NOLA trip. You can easily spend a whole day here—explore the museum, take a stroll through the nearby sculpture garden, stop by cafe du Monde and soak in the beauty of the oak trees.

This place was amazing. We went as soon as they opened on a Saturday morning and the kids were able to do everything they wanted to do. They had sunblock dispensers at the entrance and hand sanitizer placed throughout. Indoor areas are amazing, awesome toddler area, the outdoor spots were clean and fun, the art station and water stations were easily the best. The staff was all fantastic as well. I could go on and on, this was a definite hit. It felt amazing to be somewhere designed for kids, not just accommodating or tolerate of them.

Move with the River, Follow that Food and Jammin House were some of her favorites. Overall, while the museum offers engaging spaces, for those who value children's museums that excel in truly open-ended play, rich loose parts, and exhibits with scalable complexity – allowing children of varying ages and abilities to engage at their own level and continually discover new challenges – there's certainly room for growth in areas like the water and food exhibits. With some thoughtful additions, these spaces could become even more powerful catalysts for learning and imaginative exploration.
Melanie N — Google review
They have indoor and outdoor activities. That can keep the children very busy. They have different activities. They have music, food, arts etc. Outside, they have activities on the patio, an artificial turf green space. The children can water the plants, a huge sitting area with chairs and a fire pit etc

St. Louis Cathedral is a grand church dating back to the 1700s, featuring stunning stained glass and a painted ceiling. In the mid-1800s, Baroness Micaela Almonester de Pontalba oversaw the rebuilding of the cathedral and initiated the construction of Pontalba Buildings in an effort to counteract development across Canal Street. The cathedral's white facade and sleek steeples dominate the square, flanked by historic structures like Cabildo and Presbytere.
Absolutely wonderful — I loved this trip! The cathedral was breathtaking, the riverboats were charming, and the whole coastal, festive atmosphere made the experience unforgettable. New Orleans truly has a magic of its own!

Short Story: historically amazing and cool to go inside and experience. A must do simply for that reason. If you are catholic then it is a zero excuse trip inside. Skip if you are not into to historical places you will find it to just be an old church. For the rest of us, the place is run down and in need or repairs so there is a heavy written push for donations but not mandatory and no one is asking you directly. The stained glass windows are amazing to view. Most places importantly ( at least for me) you simply need to sit and release that which you need to.

Beautiful and iconic spot right in the heart of the French Quarter! I love how peaceful and holy it feels inside, even though there’s so much going on right outside. The interior design is gorgeous, and it’s nice and cool inside with the air conditioning. Best part — it’s free to visit! Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in New Orleans.

Being the oldest Catholic Cathedral in America. I must be here. In fact, it is one of the two reasons I want to be in NOLA. The Cathedral is beautiful and yet not so big. It is surprisingly look not as old as one expect it to be. I noticed that one part of the windows paint by the Sanctuary is peeling off. I prayed for it because I could only donate a little. I had a chance to make a confession. What a good feeling that was! Attended a mass at 12:05PM. They are on schedule. The priests homily was full of meaning and wisdom.

Gardens
Nestled within City Park, the New Orleans Botanical Garden is a serene sanctuary featuring over 2,000 plant species from around the globe. This historic garden, established in the 1930s, offers 10 acres of meticulously maintained landscapes to explore. Visitors can wander through diverse ecosystems such as the Tropical Rainforest Greenhouse and the Garden of Irises. The garden also hosts seasonal plant sales and showcases Louisiana's native flora alongside exotic plants like orchids and cacti.
We visited the New Orleans Botanical Garden today, and it was such a lovely experience. The gardens are really beautiful and full of charm. One of my favorite parts was the kitchen garden with all the vegetables growing—it was so unique and fun to see. The rest of the gardens were just as wonderful, especially the live oak trees draped in Spanish moss. They added so much character and that classic New Orleans beauty. Coming from Birmingham, Alabama, where we have a very lovely botanical garden of our own, I can say this one is special in its own right because of those grand oaks and the Southern atmosphere. It made the visit memorable and peaceful all at once. If you’re visiting New Orleans and want a break from the busy French Quarter, the Botanical Garden is a must-see. We truly enjoyed our time there.
Bill T — Google review
We visited the New Orleans Botanical Garden during a trip to City Park, and while the gardens themselves are well-maintained and offer some lovely sights, the overall experience felt overpriced—especially for a family. The space is peaceful and offers a mix of tropical plants, flowers, and a few artistic installations. It’s a nice place to explore if you’re really into horticulture or looking for a quiet walk. That said, I expected more for the cost of admission. I honestly would’ve preferred to visit alone or with other plant lovers rather than bring the whole family, considering how quickly the price adds up and how little there was to keep the kids engaged after a short while. There were some highlights: the butterfly garden, interesting sculptures, and shaded areas to rest. But overall, it didn’t feel like a good value for a full family outing. If you’re on a budget or traveling with kids, I’d think twice unless you know they’ll be into the experience. Next door they have a story book land which kids may enjoy more. I absolutely loved the kitchen garden and that part of the botanical garden.

Beautiful garden. The covered gardens were nice and cool. Shade trees were magical, especially in the summer swelter. We went on a Friday afternoon. Walking in the garden was very calming. Not many people around, so you could take you time and enjoy the view. The fans in some of the areas provided great relief for the heat.

A Plant Lover’s Paradise The New Orleans Botanical Garden is an absolute haven for plant lovers. If you appreciate nature, beauty, and a peaceful stroll through vibrant landscapes, this place is a must-visit. At every turn, there’s something stunning to take in—from lush tropical plants and fragrant blooms to elegant sculptures tucked among the greenery. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and your senses come alive. Whether you’re admiring the towering oaks or wandering through themed gardens, there’s no shortage of natural wonder. The garden is thoughtfully laid out and impeccably maintained. Every path invites you to explore just a little further, and every corner reveals another moment of quiet beauty. It’s more than just a garden—it’s an experience. Perfect for a solo walk, a romantic outing, or a peaceful afternoon with friends, the New Orleans Botanical Garden offers a refreshing escape from the busy city. You don’t have to be a botanist to enjoy it—just someone who finds joy in nature’s artistry.

I really enjoyed wandering this botanical garden. It's not incredibly large yet there is plenty to see. Several small garden types to choose from. Unfortunately the Japanese garden and train area were closed when I came. A bit pricey compared to other US gardens. Plenty of parking in the area. Restrooms available. Tiny gift shop. No food.

Louis Armstrong Park is a 31-acre urban oasis located in the historic Treme neighborhood of New Orleans. It pays tribute to the legendary jazz musician Louis Armstrong and features lush green spaces, scenic ponds, and statues honoring his legacy. The park is home to historic Congo Square and hosts a variety of events such as concerts, films, festivals, and even weddings.
A Peaceful Tribute to a Musical Legend Armstrong Park is a beautiful and serene spot just steps from the French Quarter, and well worth a visit. It’s peaceful and spacious, with wide paths perfect for a relaxing stroll — a nice break from the city’s more hectic energy. The park is filled with incredible statues and tributes to New Orleans’ rich musical history, especially jazz and the legacy of Louis Armstrong himself. Each sculpture feels meaningful, and the entire space gives off a quiet sense of pride and reflection. Whether you’re a music lover, history fan, or just looking for a calm place to walk and take it all in, Armstrong Park delivers. A true gem in the heart of the city.

Oh what a wonderful world A wonderful little world housed just outside of the French quarter of New Orleans. This quiet little haven of peace serves as a public green space, equipped with sculptures, plaques and more honouring the late founder of jazz. Though I would say it’s potential has been let down by its custodians. The park has some quaint little walkways and bridges which personally I enjoyed. This included a wooden bridge over a small beck, within which turtles can be spotted. We pondered on whether the turtles are natural or placed by man. I can’t help feeling like this park isn’t lifted to its full potential, due to the abundance of scaffolding and heras fencing, and the colour of the water. This could be a truly magical place but does feel somewhat uncared for. I understand there has been discussion about whether the adjacent parking lots may be incorporated into the park at some point.
Max R — Google review
Louis Armstrong Park has the appearance of a public space designed in the Lyndon Johnson era. Stark looking concrete bridges over concrete ponds seemingly without intent or direction. I can't quite figure out what seems so odd about the park. The rarely used Mahalia Jackson Theater is on the property as well as a very large abandoned building, the Municipal Auditorium whose intent is unknown to me, but is in great need of rehabilitation. I find an Executive Order from the Mayors office setting up a committee to study its redevelopment. Hopefully something is in the works. There is also an older historic building complex in the middle of the park, fenced off. Don't know what that is. The stark concrete bridges would be a lot more pleasing to the eye if they were faced with brick. Anyway, it does serve as an outdoor space for events and gathering spot for walking parades. I'm not sure whether they even have bathrooms in the park. There are some nice statues.

The park has great appeal. The city or whoever oversees the park needs to maintain it. It was so sad to see the level of trash that filled the water feature.... the landscape is too nice to look like that. It can be a serene place. Also some of the night lights on the entry of the park are our. Please clean the water up. I still think it's worth going to visit.

This park has potential to be a nice place to visit but at the moment it appears to be almost abandoned and not taken care of at all. The artificial lake in the middle of the park is so dirty and overall even in plain daylight this place does not gave me the sense of being safe. City Putt Miniature Golf Course is a popular attraction within City Park in New Orleans, offering two 18-hole courses with Louisiana and New Orleans themes. The courses are designed around iconic landmarks and neighborhoods, providing an entertaining experience for families and friends. With its cultural highlights and iconic themes, City Putt offers a fun way to explore the history and culture of Louisiana while enjoying a round of mini-golf. Additionally, visitors can take advantage of the snack bar for refreshments during their visit.
We enjoy finding and playing mini golf when we travel. This course was great to play on and we loved that there were two different courses! The park is beautiful!

The course was just ok but the staff was so unfriendly. It really threw me off. We walked in and neither of the two employees even looked up to see we were inside waiting. (There were no other customers at the time). I can't give it less than 3 stars, because we had a good time, but wouldn't recommend going.
Andrea H — Google review
Great price allowing the hole family to join in. All easy courses which makes it better for older people also. Prepare to loose a ball in the water. But they have net everywhere. Perfect level of music. 4 star bc it could have been a little more challenging, and a venting machine or water fountain.
Dkce — Google review
We've come and played multiple times, 18 holes of Putt putt golf. It's always fun to read the rich history of New Orleans in the plaques provided here. It's a must do when we come to City Park. Some of the holes are direct-exposed to the sun, but others are well-shaded and a nice respite to the brutal NO sun.
Chris S — Google review
The course is a little beat up but we definitely still had fun and the lack of water in the water features worked in our favor the multiple times we hit the ball off the course (whoops!). We were walking towards the museum for another round of art when we saw this on the way. It had come recommended so we decided to give it a go and it was what we were looking for. A highlight was the informative signs at each of the holes explaining a different geographic locale in LA. We relaxed at the shaded tables at the end of the course and would have happily bought a beverage if the refreshment stand was open. Pretty standard mini-golf experience with a fairly shaded course.
Mary L — Google review
Course is freshly updated! The turf is brand new and looks like lots of updated features. They have 36 total holes split into 2 options. Would go back to play the other 18 on another trip. Well worth the $10.
Michael S — Google review
This course is clean, well organized, relaxed, and full of great interesting facts about Louisiana and NOLA. Second time here and we absolutely love it! Took a photo of each hole and some of the fun statues they have set up along the way! Great prices, good social distancing and rapport amongst people who are customers it seems, and the staff is quick and friendly.
Tiffany G — Google review
First time here and we had a great time! There are two courses but we only did one. The course is nicely maintained except for one hole towards the end that needs attention (green carpet replacement). Otherwise, it was not crowded at 5pm when we went so we could leisurely make our way through the course. I loved the N.O. decor and almost teared up seeing Mr. Bingle (a beloved local childhood character). We'll be back again!

The Sculpture Garden truly never gets old. I grew up here in New Orleans and City Park has always had a special place in my heart. It's such a wonderful treat to be able to bring my daughter here and see the new additions to the gardens. I'm truly in awe of the nature and the art. It's one of a kind.

Wonderful little sculpture park nestled in the south side of city park The first thing which struck me about this brilliant little free attraction was the diversity in sculptures. Each crafted by a different creative mind, using varied raw materials in unique and perplexing ways. The sculptures provoke an array of personal thoughts and feelings, sometimes due to the way they move and sometimes due to their curious topologies. The park is nicely connected by a labyrinth of paths that lead you betwixt the sculptures, over quaint bridges and through nooks. A wonderful immersive art experience.

What a rush! I absolutely LOVED the Sculpture Garden, it was quirky and unique and beautiful and weird, it was amazing. And to see my 5 year old grandson so intrigued by the sculptures made the visit even more fabulous. We visited on a Tuesday and the crowds were light, so we were able to really enjoy without rushing. I urge you to make the Sculpture Garden a definite stop when you visit City Park.

The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is an absolute gem hidden within City Park, and the best part? It's completely free! This expansive collection of sculptures is beautifully integrated into the public areas of the park, making art accessible to everyone. What truly sets this sculpture garden apart is its impressive scale and continuous growth. The collection is substantial and ever-expanding, offering something new with each visit. The thoughtful placement of sculptures throughout the landscape creates a wonderful journey of discovery. The landscaping surrounding the sculptures is nothing short of impeccable. The grounds are meticulously maintained and create an incredibly inviting atmosphere that enhances the overall experience. Strategic placement of benches throughout the garden provides perfect spots to pause, rest, and contemplate the artwork you've encountered. I cannot emphasize enough what a delightful surprise it is to find such a world-class sculpture garden in City Park, available to all at no cost. This is a must-visit destination that I highly recommend to anyone—whether you're an art enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful, inspiring place to spend an afternoon.

Let me add to pile of good reviews on here. The grounds were lovely. The design pleasing and interesting incorporating the landscape. My only complaint…the staff that embarrassed us by sternly snapping to “stop touching the art.” Makes sense except that we had been walking in the park for a while interacting with the pieces as we had seen everyone around us doing. There were no barriers and no signs and we were the only one she spoke to in our vicinity. So, don’t touch the art even if everyone else is.

The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is such a gem in City Park. It’s free, beautiful, and the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Grab a coffee nearby and enjoy the walk through the gardens—there’s always something new to appreciate with the art, the trees, and the peaceful setting. A must-visit spot in New Orleans.

The Sculpture Garden is an absolute must-see when visiting New Orleans. The entire space is breathtaking — from the captivating artwork to the graceful weeping willow trees, every corner reveals something new to delight your senses. It’s a peaceful, inspiring experience that perfectly blends art and nature.

The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum, located in the French Quarter, is a fascinating attraction steeped in history and mystique. Founded in 1972, this boutique museum offers visitors a glimpse into the rich and unique world of voodoo religion and culture. With two snug rooms filled with antique altars, African artifacts, and works of art, the museum provides an enlightening experience that sheds light on the often misunderstood aspects of New Orleans culture.
Thank you for this gem of a place. This tiny but powerful museum holds so much knowledge and history. My husband and I enjoyed every bit of the NOLA Historic Voodoo Museum.
Melissa C — Google review
Its a very interesting museum, but small. I paid $10 for the visit, it’s kinda fair, it’s a really different place. If you are a tourist, worth to go. But don’t expect too much things. The store is more commercial than handmade things.
Manuela D — Google review
“Ten Bucks to Meet the Loa? Bargain of the Afterlife.” If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be lovingly hexed by history, gently spooked by folklore, and spiritually side-eyed by a papier-mâché Baron Samedi, then friend, fork over your $10 and step into the spellbound shoebox that is the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum. This place is small. Like, “blink and you’re communing with Marie Laveau’s ghost in the broom closet” small. But what it lacks in square footage, it makes up for in soul, layered, dusty, and delightfully unbothered by modern museum polish. It’s part shrine, part fever dream, part grandma’s attic if grandma practiced hoodoo and collected cursed dolls. The exhibits? A glorious jumble of altars, gris-gris bags, chicken feet, and cryptic notes that may or may not be binding contracts with the spirit world. I tried to read one and accidentally promised my firstborn to a swamp deity named Earl. Worth it. The vibe? Equal parts reverent and kitsch. You’ll learn about the real roots of Voodoo—its West African origins, its syncretic evolution, its misunderstood magic—and you’ll do it while standing next to a mannequin that looks like it moonlights as a jazz saxophonist in the French Quarter. Staff? Chill. Like, “we know the spirits are watching, but we’re not gonna make a big deal about it” chill. They’ll answer your questions, point you toward the altar, and let you linger in the incense haze until you feel mildly possessed or deeply enlightened. Or both. Final verdict: For the price of a sad airport sandwich, you get a portal into a world where mystery reigns, history hums, and every corner whispers, “You’re not in Kansas anymore, cher.” A must-visit for anyone who likes their museums with a side of mojo and a dash of delightful disarray.

So incredibly interesting and educational- fun place to stop by for site seeing. Very small inside overall so if it's busy you end up bumping to people trying to read or look at items, gift shop is great! Would love to have had more education on what the money means. Great and friendly staff. This museum did provide me with an expanded cultural perspective and appreciation of voodoo as opposed to the propaganda of the mainstream media portrayal
Kristina S — Google review
We ducked inside to get out of the rain and at first glance thought it was just a trinket shop. However, it's actually a really intricate and educational museum explaining the history of voodoo. It's worth the cover charge if you're interested.

The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum is a hidden gem; intimate, powerful, and full of life. Madame Cinnamon Black is a true ambassador of wisdom and culture; her warmth and knowledge turn a simple visit into a deeply moving journey through the living traditions of New Orleans. The New Orleans Jazz Museum, housed in a historic mint dating back to 1835, offers a captivating journey through the city's rich musical legacy. The museum showcases the profound influence of jazz on New Orleans through interactive exhibits and live music performances in its courtyard and balcony. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of jazz instruments and ephemera, immersing themselves in the vibrant history of this iconic musical genre.
Must do if you’re visiting New Orleans and interested in learning about the origins of jazz, and its deep roots in African American and New Orleans history. After visiting the museum, you could go to Congo Square and Louis Armstrong Park to immerse yourself in this iconic venue where it all began. We skipped the ground floor US Mint exhibition (the building was formerly the US Mint) and went straight to the first floor jazz exhibitions. Informative, diverse pieces including photographs, instruments and music snippets and good storytelling connecting them. Should be enhanced by numbering the sections, or marking a tour path - so visitors know where to start and which direction to go in, to follow the developments chronologically, which is confusing currently. Free jazz concerts in the courtyard at 5 pm if you’re there!
Krati T — Google review
This was an unexpected stop for us while visiting New Orleans. It was very enjoyable and we learned about the city and how banks were run back in the day. The preservation of the culture, music, and people was well presented. The bottom floor was a US mint museum and upstairs was the jazz. It also happened to be free when we visited.
Denise W — Google review
We visited a free jazz concert. The band was really good. They have professional concert room. The exposition is great too. Nice to visit such a place to touch the history of jazz and give credit to modern live jazz music.
Sokolov A — Google review
Best for people who really love music, but if you do it’s wonderful. Smallish and easy to see in 1 hour or so. The Drumsville exhibit was a nice bonus. Learned quite a bit. So funky. The mint exhibit was a bit strange but still informative
Stefan S — Google review
If your a jazz fan, you absolutely have to visit this spot. The amount of history, culture and excitement all under one roof is breathtaking. I spent a few hours here and if I didn't have other places to go, I could have spent a few hours more. Shout out to the lady at the front desk for being so kind and patient.

Give this a miss. How can a jazz museum - in New Orleans! - have so little info about Jazz music. There are just some pictures hanging on the wall. This could be a great location for an actual museum chronicling the rich history of Jazz music but it's a big disappointment. Walk a few blocks to the east to Frenchman Street on any evening and get a taste of some actual Jazz music instead. Pictures are from Frenchman St.
Tim C — Google review
Interesting visit. The first floor is the history of New Orleans mint. The second store is the jazz museum. The third floor sometimes has performances, but not every day.
Julie's B — Google review
A bit underwhelming actually. First floor is an exhibit of the New Orleans Mint and a brief exhibit on zydeco. The second floor was a bit of jazz history and an exhibit on Louis Armstrong. Third floor was closed today . Expected more quite frankly. Somewhat recommended

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, established in 1999 and located in the Warehouse District, boasts the largest collection of Southern art globally. With over four thousand pieces from fifteen southern states, it offers a comprehensive narrative of the South's cultural traditions. The museum hosts exhibitions and programs that explore contemporary art within this context. One such event is the annual juried Louisiana Contemporary exhibition, showcasing works by living Louisiana artists across various mediums.
While visiting New Orleans, my daughter and I stopped by the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip. Staying at the Hilton Riverside, we found it an easy, flat, 20-minute walk to the museum. The admission price was very reasonable at $15 for adults and just $7 for kids/teens up to 17. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, suggesting we start on the 5th floor and work our way down. This was great advice—giving us a wonderful perspective and made the experience feel cohesive and well-paced. The exhibits were thoughtfully curated, showcasing a fantastic mix of Southern art, culture, and history and diverse exhibit showcasing everything from traditional paintings to modern art installations. The architecture of the museum is stunning—bright, airy, and thoughtfully designed. The open layout, with views across all levels, added to the experience, making it both visually striking and easy to navigate. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or just looking for something memorable to do in New Orleans, this museum is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Easily one of the best museums I've ever been in, and that's saying a lot in New Orleans, where there is good art on the street. Amazing exhibits, and the regional focus is welcomed. For a museum of its size, they give great art in every inch. I live in Ohio and will still become a member to support such fine fare.

The Ogden is amazing!! Finally visited last summer on one of the free local days, and it’s now one of my favorite art museums. The architecture of this place is amazing, and there’s also a rooftop which has a great view of the city. Lots to see and you can spend quite awhile here looking around. It’s paid parking but there’s a lot nearby so it’s not too difficult. Definitely worth the visit. Their gift shop also has a lot of cool stuff as well.

Such a gem! We loved the exhibits: Keith Duncan's HBCU portraits were joyful and beautiful, Benny Andrews was a revelation, Hoa Tay (Flower Hands) was thought provoking and the images of New Orleans from the permanent collection gave us new insight into the creative history of a great American city. The Ogden is everything a local museum should be:a space for new voices, old voices with new perspectives and a beautiful space that fosters our imagination and dispels labels and eschews stereotypes. This was an afternoon well spent.

Longue Vue House & Gardens is an opulent 1940s mansion set on an 8-acre estate in New Orleans. This National Historic Landmark offers a glimpse into the Country Era Place homes of the early 20th century. The estate features meticulously maintained gardens with a stunning collection of irises and an interactive discovery garden for children. The house itself is a world-class museum showcasing period decor and art.
We really loved the tour and was happy it was open on January 2nd when so many places (museums and historic locations) were closed. Liz? wait maybe Erica? from California was the best tour guide & answered all our difficult questions. Absolutely loved the house & the gardens

The guided tour was great, the gardens were great but are no longer maintained, therare lots of weeds. I hope that more people will visit so that they will have the $$ to maintain this beautiful place! The house is VERY impressive, and the history is awesome. I hope that they do well and that this place and history will not be forgotten!

Visited in mid-May for just the gardens. We were disappointed with how unkempt the gardens were, as well as the limited range of plant species and wide-ranging water feature issues. All of that could be overlooked to some extent with a more reasonable price. As it is, at $3 more per person than the far superior botanical garden 10 minutes away, I do not feel I received good value for my money.

I love Longue Vue. I have been coming 6 years. Every time I come the staff is lovely and kind. And the food at the cafe is great. yes it has changed a couple of years ago to what I see as a vegan/vegetarian food options the food is still great and I specifically love their bagels!! I recommend 10/10! Garlic spread specifically. The gardens? GORGEOUS The staff? MARVELOUS The home? IMMACULATE The food? DELICIOUS For all the people giving one star because the gardens are 'unkempt' how would you like to keep up 16 different gardens across 8 acres of land? It is very difficult. I have become close with the Longue Vue staff for coming here so often. If you have an issue with how the gardens look please go and volunteer yourself to clean it up and make it look beautiful. However they are still beautiful and the gardens that are 'unkempt' to you, might actually be designed to look like that. Also, "As it is, at $3 more per person than the far superior botanical garden 10 minutes away, I do not feel I received good value for my money." somebody said this in a review. If you feel that way then just go there. As I have volunteered at Longue Vue before, we have a lot of staff and a lot of land that we need to work to keep it how it was previously. Also y'all understand what weathering is correct. Old things do get dirty and it is hard to get to everything. Don't be shallow as an adult.

What a lovely tour! Just took a tour of the house, but I will be back for the combination tour of the house and gardens. The history of this house was amazing. And to think that this was the second house erected here. I'm not sure where they moved the original house to, but I will Google. The tour guide was amazing and very informed. I am so glad to come and am considering the membership.

A highlight is its stunning restaurant, Purloo, which boasts a beautifully restored bar salvaged from Brunings Restaurant—an iconic New Orleans establishment lost to Hurricane Katrina.
Amazing museum! A great opportunity to explore what makes each Southern state special, along with their rich culinary history. This is a must visit if you’re visiting or from the area. Schedule a cooking class to learn from the second Black woman in New Orleans to ever own a cooking school, Chef Dee Lavigne. Candy, the sous chef, was wonderful as well and made the session unforgettable. The hands on class was fantastic, and I even got to flambé.

We did the cooking class today, and it was phenomenal!! We all did thr prep together, and helped cook three courses: a fancy corn based appetizer, gumbo, and banana foster. It's definitely the best food I've eaten in New Orleans this week, and that's saying something! The chefs we learned under are kind, gracious, and make cooking fun and accessible. I loved every second of it!

Updated review: I came back recently as the place I had intended to go to was unexpectedly closed. I am so glad I did. They have rearranged things since the last time I was here. It was very well organized and had wider spaces to move throughout. Everyone working was very friendly and informative. I am so glad I came back and I recommend for anyone in the area. The aisles can be a bit narrow, and I am not sure this is a good place for small children, but this is an interesting museum highlighting the foods and cuisines of the Southern part of the US. It seems like a monumental task, and some visitors think they have their own connections and can be upset when they are not represented. It just seems like a lot of stuff crammed into a space that is increasingly becoming too small for all of this. Parking in the area can be an issue.
Andrea F — Google review
A small but very interesting 2 for 1 museum. They are getting a liquor license so they can teach cocktail classes. They do cooking demos and children's summer camp cooking. We met the woman who started the museum! It is arranged by the states of the south and include DC and Virginia. 3 blocks from the St. Charles St. Trolley at MLK Ave.

Congo Square, located within Louis Armstrong Park at 828 North Rampart Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, holds significant historical and cultural importance. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it served as a gathering place for African slaves who held rituals every Sunday evening. This was made possible by Napoleonic law which granted slaves Sundays off and provided them with a space to gather.
Finally had a chance to visit the iconic Congo Square. It is a city park filled with New Orleans tradition. From the slave trade to the beginning of Jazz the park offers some great statues and historic markers.
Fred I — Google review
Historic Congo Square, the only place colored folks were allowed to gather, dance and sing back in the day. Currently, it's encompassed by Louis Armstrong Park and still a gathering place for musical events, parades, picnics, art fairs and other public events.
David F — Google review
I love this! Congo Square is located inside of Louis Armstrong Park. The park has so much history. I would recommend this historic park. It so much rich history in this city.
Elon N — Google review
This area is deep rooted in history. Enslaved and free people of color gathered here in the 19th century for meetings, markets, and cultural celebrations. These Sunday gatherings developed jazz by serving as a rare space for African Americans to practice ancestral music and dance traditions which influenced the foundation of American music. Congo Square's history continues today through festivals and traditional drumming circles, honoring its legacy as a vital center of African American culture. Take the time to explore this deep rooted connection.
Perry K — Google review
Congo Square is a beautiful, historical, spiritual public space surrounded by beautiful green park space. At one time it was the only space that enslaved blacks could gather publicly. And you can feel their spirits if you pay close attention.

Great place for a romantic promenade in New Orleans and to connect with nature as well as your ancestors. Every Sunday from 3pm-6pm for the past 300 years there has been a drum circle. I've been to plenty of drum circles, but the vibe of this one felt richly rooted by the tree of life and the gumbo of people and cultures that bring this place to life. If you're interested show up early so you don't miss the opening ceremony. Recognizing the importance of this location from a historic and cultural perspective can easily be lost on you if you don't do your research or take a guided walking tour. I'm so grateful some locals volunteered to give me the back story as well as the best time to enjoy the park. You won't learn much by just walking around because despite there being plenty of sculptures, seating, enchanting pathways and ponds it lacks signage. Congo Square is an open space within Louis Armstrong Park, which is located inside the historic Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, just north of the French Quarter. It's easily accessed on foot or by ride share. Once you've had your fill of the vibrancy and activities in the quarter this is a great place for a meditative stroll.

Nestled in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Music Box Village is a one-of-a-kind venue where live music and art come together in a unique outdoor setting. This visually stunning interactive sonic sculpture garden features a collection of ramshackle sonic art projects, with instruments embedded into the walls, floors, and ceilings for guests to experiment with. The village hosts live musical performances and encourages visitors to be part of the experience by manipulating different sounds like horns and chimes.
This place is amazing! If you have kids who like to make noise or are a kid yourself who likes to tinker, you have to check it out! Musical instruments made out of all kinds of discarded items. They host musical events but the place itself is worth the visit. Also, just below the levy so you can walk up and walk along the the levee.

The Music Box had everything we were looking for in a wedding venue! The space was fun for guests to explore, gave kids stuff to do, provided a beautiful backdrop for photos—and the connected warehouse offered a much-needed rain contingency plan. We paid extra to hire the "house band," a group of musicians that play the musical structures that dot the landscape inside. Their performance during cocktail hour really blew our guests away! The bar manager designed some specialty cocktails that were absolutely delicious. And the ability to bring in the caterer of our choice helped us make sure the experience was exactly what we wanted to share with our friends and family. The sound was incredible and literally every detail was perfect. Cannot recommend this venue enough!

We went as soon as they opened and it was such a peaceful place! Lots of musical stuff to explore, a vintage (more like an “old stuff only”) warehouse in the back, a bar (drinks were very meh tho), clean bathrooms. A nice place to spend a couple hours relaxing if you are lucky to go when there are no kids running around. Otherwise if you go in noisy hours it would still be a cool place to hangout with a group of friends. I did think $25 entrance fee is pricy for what it is tho.

Second time visiting, two very different but very amazing experiences. First was an open hours where you have the opportunity to wander and explore all the fun things. The second and most recent visit was during a Mother’s Day market, which was such a cool experience with all the vendors throughout the grounds. Highly recommend for any occasion.

Such a cute venue! We went for a MIT reunion and got to explore the place - it's a bit small but there are ample structures to explore for about 30 min - 1 hour and it's fun to catch up with people while climbing the treehouses. Live music was great! Downside was that some of the exhibits were broken, about 30% of them, so it felt like we only got a taste of what the place had to offer. The food was okay - I liked the breakfast buffet course they had there but it had a lot of cheese so it upset my stomach.

I plan to donate to this amazing place! Great for all ages. I would never have known it existed if a local hadn't told me about an event happening there. Which ended up being a TON of fun.

Fantastic place to go. Everything you touch is created to play music. Even to the railing up stairs. If you go make sure to touch everything, I guarantee you won't he disappointed. A friend of mine wanted to take me here after she had previously taken her cousins. My nephews tagged along and we all had an awesome time. This place is magical, especially at Christmas time. They have discounted tickets midweeks. You must buy tickets in advance for a specific time slot for the driving tours.

Perspective is everything. To my seven-year-old, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park provided two hours of fun running from ride to ride. They sell pizza and ice cream. Kids love this place. (At least my seven-year-old did. However, in a few years, she'll outgrow the rides.) To parents, this place is a great way to spend a few hours visiting City Park, but it comes with a price. It was $21 for our daughter and just over $12 per parent. However, once you pay, you get unlimited rides. The rides themselves are old and run down, but the plus is there were no lines on a Sunday afternoon in April. It has clean restrooms and the train is a fun way to see a part of City Park. Next door is Storyland, a storybook-themed playground that's free.

If I could get this place zero stars I would. The food looks so buns how u managed to undercook a burger, but then burn the burger? Not to mention half the rides r so slow and lame. The workers all look miserable. 0/10 waste your money on café Dumon instead or something

Amusement park at City Park reminds me so much of Central Park in NYC. If you’ve kids, there’s nothing like it in New Orleans ‘heaven’. I bought the Family season pass for 4 for $265 and have no regrets. Babies absolutely love it. Pay attention to the height chart, otherwise, a parent can always accompany a child almost on all the rides. Even an infant can go on 4 rides. Train, Ferris wheel, roller coaster, carousel garden etc are the highlights with 20+ Rides. They’re open from Thur - Sun from 11a-8p and I usually go on Sundays, when there’s no rush whatsoever. The staff consists of teenagers who are super friendly. I would highly recommend the Amusement park. And next door Storyland is also included with the season pass😊

I used to come here with my family as a child very often.. multiple times a year. This was my first time in 5 years and I enjoyed it so much! I felt like a kid again!!! The rides, the lights, the food, the music!!! It was AMAZING! SO MUCH FUN! My fiancé and I went twice this week!

If I could leave a 0 star I would. I’m so disappointed with how this turned out. We are from Florida and visited this amusement park on a Saturday. We showed up and were told only 2 rides were open: the carousel and the bumper cars. However the entry fee was still the same $25 each! When we got in, there were tons of employees walking around but nobody was running the two rides that were “open”. When we asked for help, they said “I don’t know who’s running this ride, this isn’t my ride, and they aren’t supposed to leave their ride” but yet nobody helped or got someone that could help. One guy even told us they were closed to the public and only open to birthday parties? But the front of the park didn’t say that and we paid. What a waste of time. What a waste of a Saturday. It was bright and sunny out, yet no riders were even running.
T J — Google review
This place has so much for the kids to see and do. I especially love the themes as they relate to my childhood. They also had many rides for the kids to enjoy. I can't wait to go again.
Angie L — Google review
The only ride that was worth it was the roller coaster and the train ride. The rest of the rides were very run down and majority of them were closed yet you still pay full price. The biggest issue was the teenagers working. They had the worst attitudes. I simply asked to ride again-mind you the ride was empty and nowhere near closing- and the girl threw her hands up, rolled her eyes, and turned around yelling angrily " you know what? I dont even care anymore". Majority of the workers were just sitting down and on their phones. 3 of the workers were playing with a ball in the middle of the walkway. The cafe was absolutely disgusting. They had 5 or six employees just sitting down yet no one bothered to clean up and yet you want people to purchase food.

When visiting New Orleans, one of the must-do activities is a Swamp Tour. The city is surrounded by swamps, making it an essential part of the local geography. These tours offer a chance to cruise through eerie bayous and swamp areas, providing breathtaking views of Louisiana's natural beauty and wildlife such as alligators and herons. Knowledgeable guides share interesting facts about the region's biology and history, offering a unique experience outside the city.
Had a fantastic time during the tour. The guide was friendly and super cool. We had lot of fun spotting alligators and also held a baby alligator. The boat was comfortable and safe. Overall a great time.

We had a fantastic time on our swamp tour! Our guide/boat captain (his name is escaping me right now—he was a former cop, firefighter, & military) was great! He was knowledgeable & funny. He made all of his guests feel at ease with being so close to the gators. You could tell that he had a passion & love for these amazing animals. I would highly recommend!
Debbie K — Google review
We had a blast on this tour. We went on the pontoon boat, our guide shared so much history and knowledge. He was quite funny while feeding the alligators and we got to feed them as well. I would recommend Swamp Tours.

We did a small airboat tour with Capt. Brady and that’s definitely the way to go. He took us through canals that the larger pontoon boats can’t make it through, and we saw so much of the flora and fauna. Capt. Brady was super knowledgeable and the tour was informative and amazing. Loved the Bayou, the adorable gators, and all his food recs!

The Garden District in New Orleans is a stunning neighborhood known for its majestic live oaks adorned with Spanish moss and grand antebellum mansions. Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, located across from the renowned Commanders Palace restaurant, adds to the opulence of the area. Bounded by St. Charles Avenue, 1st Street, Magazine Street, and Toledano Street, this district boasts well-preserved homes from its plantation past.
The New Orleans Garden District is the area bounded by St. Charles Avenue, 1st Street, Magazine Street and Toledano Street. This was part of the City of Lafayette, made up of land from plantations that originally occupied the area. Later it was annexed into the City of New Orleans. The number of beautiful, well preserved homes is unbelievable. This area is wonderful to walk through with several cafes, coffee shops and more mansions than you can count.

Garden district was a series of sugar cane plantations in its heyday. It was the only street where Americans could purchase lands and build houses when the French had ownership of Louisiana before the Louisiana purchase. The houses still hold the facade many of them too expensive to be redone inside, many abandoned projects. There are symbolic architecture on fences which were done by African slaves to pay homage to their culture. I had an exceptional tour guide who was very very knowledgeable kind and it was a walking tour. I’m glad that I did it. I also visited the infamous Brukner mansion which was also a university for a while.

Truly an amazing city district! One of the finest, classiest I've ever visited. The history, the architecture; it's truly one of a kind! I would highly recommend adding this striking district to your New Orleans travel itinerary. There is much to explore, museums, art galleries, guided tours, and more! This part of New Orleans has appeared in many Hollywood films; notably The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Interview With The Vampire, as well as television shows such as American Horror Story: Coven. There are many fine restaurants and coffee houses, which, combined with the stunning visuals surrounding you, truly makes for an unforgettable experience. There are some downsides, however. This area is often crowded with tourists and, just as well, con artists eagerly waiting to take advantage of these inexperienced travelers. Be weary of anyone you do not know. If someone calls you out on the street, ignore them or politely move on. All in all, New Orleans is one of the United States' oldest and most unique cities, and that vibrant, diverse, and truly different culture is on full display in the Garden District. I highly recommend you explore this amazing part of an already amazing city!

Jackson Square is a historic park in New Orleans, dating back to 1721 and surrounded by significant buildings. It's where the Louisiana Purchase was finalized and home to landmarks like The St Louis Cathedral, The Cabildo, and The Presbytere. Artists, musicians, and fortune tellers gather here, displaying their original artwork along the fence and sidewalks. While not an official market, the art on display rivals gallery pieces. Vendors have city permits and many have been selling here for decades.
I enjoyed being on this Square. The presence of St. Louis Cathedral as the oldest Cathedral in America from where the Square is beautiful. Very well maintained. There's a jazz player and you know you are in New Orleans. If you are driving a car, there's a convenient paid parking just a few minute walk to the Square and the Cathedral.

Jackson Square is one of the most charming and lively spots in New Orleans. Surrounded by beautiful historic buildings and the stunning St. Louis Cathedral, it’s the perfect place to take a walk, people-watch, or enjoy local street performers and artists. The atmosphere is vibrant and full of culture you really feel the heart of the French Quarter here. There are also plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby where you can sit and take in the view. It’s a great place for photos and to experience the true soul of New Orleans. Highly recommend visiting both during the day and at night for two totally different but equally magical vibes!

A beautiful and lively spot in the French Quarter, Jackson Square is full of energy and charm. Surrounded by historic buildings like the St. Louis Cathedral, it’s a great place to relax, take photos, and enjoy local street performers and artists. The gardens are well-kept, but note that they’re only accessible during certain hours so plan your visit accordingly. Easy to walk around and a perfect stop while exploring the city.

This is a beautiful historic site. I love visiting these kind of places. Sandwiched between the St. Louis Cathedral and the Mississippi River, it is a wonderful setting. Cafe Du Monde is right across the street! There is an open air market all around it with vendors of all types and some street performers also.

A lovely park on the river in New Orleans! There is a lot of space and places to sit, and it certainly is a beautiful space! There are also a lot of historical things around and plaques to read!! I continue to return every time I visit NOLA — it is where I find some of my favorite street performers. :)

So so beautiful! It was busy when we arrived, but not too difficult to walk around. It is very well kept, neat and tidy. No restrooms nearby that I know of though. Café du Monde is also 2 minutes walk from here.

Where do I even start from the artist? I got a beautiful print for $10, the weather was 71° which was perfect. The park was Right next to the trolley and the New Orleans hospitality cannot be beaten. A gentleman made us try beignets with him and coffee and paid for it because he's so proud of his state and what they have to offer. The street performers were so awesome. We need more of this in our life. Connecting with others and nature through food and art. We also check out the hat store and picked up a hat that's right along the side of the park. So there is so much to be offered here as the last stop was the cathedral and the ceiling was amaculate We had lunch at Monty's on the corner of the park a must see.

Jackson Square is absolutely beautiful and a must-see for anyone visiting New Orleans! The park is full of history, charm, and energy — it perfectly captures the spirit of the city. The landscaping is well-kept, and the view of St. Louis Cathedral is stunning, especially when the sunlight hits it just right. What really makes Jackson Square special is the atmosphere — local artists displaying their work along the fences, musicians filling the air with jazz, and the smell of beignets and coffee drifting over from nearby cafés. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit, people-watch, and soak up the culture for hours. Whether you’re exploring the French Quarter for the first time or returning to experience that New Orleans magic again, Jackson Square is an absolute must-visit.

Audubon Park is a charming destination located north of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. The park offers a variety of activities such as jogging and bike paths, tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. It also features a scenic lagoon surrounded by beautiful oak trees. Additionally, the park holds historical significance as it hosted the Worlds Fair in 1898. Visitors can explore this historic site while enjoying the natural beauty and wildlife that inhabit the area.
A Peaceful Green Escape in the Heart of the City Audubon Park is a beautiful oasis in New Orleans — the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. I took the streetcar out and walked through the park on my way to the zoo, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the day. The wide paths are great for walking, running, or biking, and the canopy of trees offers plenty of shade — which was especially appreciated on a warm June afternoon. It’s peaceful, scenic, and full of charm, with locals and visitors alike out enjoying the space. Whether you’re heading to the zoo or just looking for a relaxing stroll, Audubon Park is a lovely spot to slow down and soak in the natural beauty of the city.

Wonderful urban park situated at the back end of the garden district, yet feels rather remote and distant from the roar of traffic and city life. This park was lovely, and had a very relaxing feel to it, unlike city park which felt more like a location one goes for activities such as golf, football practice or disc golf. The path was very nice, wide enough for pedestrians, dogs and cyclists alike, and runs parallel to a lovely stream. Forget your woes and come down and enjoy this lovely little breath of scenery.

What a beautiful park! Well-manacured, serene trails, delightful fountain. I spent more time here than I thought I would. The park is directly across from Loyola and Tulane, yet many families with young children were enjoying themselves. Saenger Theatre is a historic landmark known for hosting live musical acts and touring theatrical productions. The theater, which opened in 1927, boasts a grand Italian courtyard-inspired interior with decorative moldings and an overhead lighting design resembling a starry constellation. Despite its capacity being reduced from 4,000 to 2,600 after restoration following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, it remains one of the largest theaters in town.
Saenger Theater is surely one of the most unique and beautiful theaters you'll ever visit in the U.S. I've only attended a handful of concerts at Saenger, most recently Tom Jones, during JazzFest week. The sound and production was great. Tom Jones was outstanding.

We came here last month for the show of Hamilton. Truly a beautiful venue and the location is very niche! It was very nice being able to walk to the theatre from our hotel room. The charming atmosphere is breathtaking! The only thing I would improve on, is the intake process of guests once they present their tickets. It became very crowded with limited direction from staff. Otherwise, we truly enjoyed our experience!

Fantastic venue for a concert or show. I’ve enjoyed legendary music and theater here for many, many years. Beautiful interior architecture and comfortable seating. Not a bad seat in the house. Go spend an evening seeing something you haven’t before and be taken back to a simpler time, when theaters weren’t just square rooms with a screen.

I went to see Derek Hough at the Saenger Theatre in November 2023, and it was an amazing show! The entire theatre looked very elegant and had a unique yet vintage style to it that I consider timeless. Staffing was nice as well. The only thing I can really complain about is that it’s in a sketchy area (Canal Street) and everything is street parking, but it’s also New Orleans so I can’t really be too surprised. Aside from that, Saenger Theatre is a beautiful theatre that I believe is irreplaceable.

The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience is an interactive museum that tells the story of Jews in the South through artifacts. The museum is located in the Arts District of New Orleans and open to individuals for appointments.
I visited this museum this past weekend with my husband and friend. Based on a few negative reviews I was skeptical, but overall the reviews were great. I’m so glad we went! As someone stated, yes compared to other museums it may be small, but every museum can’t be like the MET! Although “small”, it’s small, but mighty. There is sooo much history! The exhibits were displayed very nicely. I surprised to see so much history from small towns that I have personally visited. The director was very nice and engaging. I wish we had more time, but I tried to take pics of what I missed to read later. My friend wasn’t interested I the museum at first, but ended up loving it! My husband and I love history and this was a great experience for us. Also, I loved the postcard experience at the end!

Amazing amazing museum that surpassed my expectations! This place has been on my list since it first opened a few years ago and it was incredible. The exhibits were laid out in a great way and I learned so much about Judaism in early America which is so hard to find information online about. I appreciated how the Holocaust section wasn’t only focused on Jewish suffering and gore and rather the full lives that some survivors got to live. Everyone should come here even if you’re not Jewish to learn about such an under-discussed part of history.

Visited on a Saturday with daughter, who is jewish. Was lots to see and was very informative. Would recommend to all. Exhibits were presented very well. Will definitely return on our next trip to new orleans.

We visited the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience and found it to be a very well done museum with interesting content. After entering we watched a short film that we found to be well done. After watching the film we walked through several galleries, each depicting a different topic. The staff is always close by and eager to answer any question. For us this was a truly enjoyable experience.
Louis E — Google review
As a tradition of settling new towns, we try to find something related to Jewish life in the town. This museum was recommended to me by a friend after discussing the Breman Jewish Museum in Atlanta. At the entrance we were met by the girl from whom we bought our tickets. They give a discount if you come to them with a flyer, but we had forgotten it in our hotel room. They have a cool presentation movie which I thought was very short but with a nice musical accompaniment. It is important to realize that museums like this one should help to break down xenophobic speculations about different nations. The museum is trying to answer the question of who are the Jews of the south of the United States? How long have they been here? What are the reasons for their arrival and so on. In terms of exhibitions, this museum is poor, almost everything is presented as digital copies or colorful prints on the walls. But this is a disadvantage of many modern museums, which prevents you from really immersing yourself in the issue and makes you wonder what would be the difference if I saw it all online? But on the other hand, it was fun to make quizzes on Jewish themes and offer your own version of the mat and its design. You can also find souvenirs and a public restroom at the entrance. In general, I recommend visiting this place as museums of this type are quite rare and most importantly the museum pursues a noble goal of uncovering the secrets of the history of Jewish settlement life in the southern US.

Bayou Swamp Tours offers an unforgettable adventure, providing a chance to explore the captivating bayou and its wildlife. Visitors are advised to come prepared with sunscreen, sunglasses, and some water while avoiding carrying excessive belongings. The tour promises an immersive experience where guests may encounter swamp water but will be well taken care of by the knowledgeable guides. With opportunities for tipping the guides and a bar at the end of the tour, it's a comprehensive experience.
A great tour given by a great guide. Location easy to find or they will pick you up. We drove, but Uber should be available. The air boat was a blast to ride; we always felt safe. While wildlife is never guaranteed we saw 7 or 8 alligators a couple of Great Blue Herons and Egrets. Tour takes you through bayous, swamps and grasslands. Captain Danny was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Not taught in my school, alligators love marshmallows and will make a beeline for one even at 20 yards distant. I highly recommend Bayou Swamp Tours New Orleans.

Captain Carl loves these waters and you could tell he has pride for his state during the tour. The scenery was gorgeous and we learned a lot about the ecosystem and some of the history of the area. I would definitely do this tour again in the future. Till we meet again Wink 😜

Bucket list check for me!!! We were a bit worried at first with the number of boats and people leaving at same time but they all scattered and we were immediately seeing gators and other wildlife and in what seemed to be “our own” private bayou! We went deep into it and the tour was wonderful! The length of tour was great and we felt safe and comfortable. We saw so many gators we stopped taking photos of them. Eagles nest, kingfisher, turtles, herrons, etc. We all loved it and our tour guide was great!

Celebrating our daughter's 21st with our family and friends, we were a group of 12. I looked into so many tours to find one to accommodate our group with transportation. Laura at Bayou swamp was so friendly answering all my questions. Pick up location for transportation was only 1 block away. Our boat captain was Nick. He was great and very knowledgeable. He told us stories and knew where to find the gators. He even pulled the pontoon over so we could take pictures and find Cicadas to hold. This swamp tour a must!

Pebbles, our amazing bus driver, was not only punctual but also incredibly friendly and full of energy. Once we arrived, Captain Aaron took us on a fantastic ride through the swamps. His knowledge of the local wildlife and history was impressive, and his passion for the area really came through. We saw alligators, beautiful birds, and even raccoons. Captain Aaron made the whole experience feel authentic, fun, and educational. Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting the area

We did the pontoon boat tour at 9:45am. It is July so we expected hot but thought it would be slightly better with the covered option. It wasn’t and the boat went so slow there was no breeze. The pontoons are too large to fit in any covered area so it just stayed in the open space and would point out places every once in a while. We saw a handful of very small gators, no other wildlife and the tour guide would throw marshmallows at them. We could barely understand the tour guide-too quiet and sounded mumbled. It was our fault for booking the slow boat but overall it was very boring and too hot to be moving so slow on the water. Not at all worth the price. definitely book the airboat option.

New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park is a dedicated space celebrating the history and art of jazz. The park offers free daytime concerts with informative talks by park rangers, providing insights into the musical elements that influenced jazz. Visitors can enjoy performances by Ranger Bruce Barnes and his band, Sunpie & the Louisiana Sunspots, showcasing African diaspora music. Free walking tours narrated with audio guides take visitors to significant sites like Congo Square in Armstrong Park and statues of jazz legends Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet.
The Baseline: For a national park/monument visitor’s center the facility must be informative, have great exhibits, and have a park rangers that are knowledgeable of one of the United States’ greatest ideas ever implemented that is the National Parks of America. Facility: The New Orleans Jazz/Jean Lafitte French Quarter Visitors Center is a clean, well presented center with great displays and a well organized gift store. Personnel: The park rangers were friendly and informative about the activities in the park. We were given several suggestions of visiting the preserve and the local battlefield as well as information on those locations. The rangers have to be public relations and gift shop customer service at the same time so be kind to your National Park Ranger. They also run programs to educate on the parks and monuments. Stamps: You can get your passport stamps next to the gift shop and Ranger’s info station. Special note: If you have young kids or want to be a kid yourself make sure to take advantage of the Junior Rangers program. You will learn and enjoy the National Park more that way.

New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park - A Great Introduction to the City's Musical Heart! I thought the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park was a fantastic starting point for visitors wanting to experience the city's legendary jazz scene. They offer free jazz performances, which I think is a wonderful way to get a taste of this amazing music. In addition to the music, they also have a small display that you can take a look at to learn a bit about the history of jazz in New Orleans. Established in 1994, the park aims to celebrate the origins and evolution of jazz. Located in the Tremé neighborhood, near the French Quarter, it serves as a place to learn about and experience this unique American art form. With its visitor center offering exhibits, ranger programs, and those great live music performances, it's a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in the cultural heritage of New Orleans.

Who knew we have a wonderful national park dedicated to Jazz. This is the only NP dedicated to music and all rangers are musicians. They do an excellent job of education on Jazz to the public. There is an active schedule of programs. We happened to see Richard "Piano" Scott spend an hour talking and demonstrating the differences in types of music. He was a crowd please and we all learned something. Make sure you check their event calendar.

If you have a National Parks passport, come here to get your stamp and then explore all the fascinating exhibits explaining the history, cuisine, and music of Louisiana. There is a significant audio component to many of the exhibits, which I enjoyed. They do also offer FREE live music performances every day, just ask what the day’s schedule is.

good live performers, pretty architecture, cool sculptures with information plaques, excessive stairs lollll but it’s hard to find a bathroom nearby (had to walk a block) and not many spots to sit down here.

Just a few brochures, small gift shop, and a room with seats and a stage. Not much else. If you like Jazz, or if you just want to get your passport stamp like me, stop in. Otherwise not really worth a visit

New Orleans City Park is a massive 1,300-acre urban oasis boasting lush green spaces, serene walking trails, and a picturesque lake. The park is renowned for its stunning grove of mature live oak trees and diverse birdlife. Visitors can enjoy activities such as renting swan boats on Big Lake, exploring Storyland with the kids, and experiencing the whimsical Carousel Gardens Amusement Park.
The sculpture garden is the major attraction of the city park. Well designed sculpture garden with amazing sculptures or art installations. Walkable walkways and scene environment. Close proximity to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA).

Jesus. The most beautiful city park I've ever been in. And I didn't even cross into the north section. The south part has great water features, the free sculpture garden which is fun and chances to spot turtles, storks and alligators.

The City Park in New Orleans has to be one of the best I’ve ever been in. The landscaping is beautiful and there are several places to see inside the park, the Botanical Garden, Story Land, the Museum of Art etc. There’s plenty of parking and security too.

A vast expanse packed with culture, activities and calm relaxing outdoor spaces. New Orleans City Park is everything it promises to be, a park in the city. It is also big, and home to a range of popular sports facilities including football, tennis, golf, disc golf, running, dog walking and more. There are eateries within (e.g. cafe du monde). The park is equipped with important park apparatus such as trees, grass, bodies of water and rollercoasters. A train circumnavigates the south end of the park. The northern end of the park presents itself as more barren. We saw a large black snake in the grass near the disc golf course which we understand was either completely harmless and friendly, or deadly. A lady picking leaves nearby remarked she’d never seen a snake in the park before, and was both thankful yet envious that she had not witnessed this with us.

My favorite city park in the states! Truly a gem to visit. We rented a swan boat which was fun but tiring (duh!) Unfortunately, I left my phone in the car while we walked the other areas, but the pics on the site are better than any I could do! We'll be back, as always!

Absolutely beautiful park! We only had about an hour to be in City Park, but we wished could have had all day. There is something for everyone here. If you want a sweet treat, stop at Café Du Monde. If you want to see areas with deep historical roots, look at the 300+ year old trees and more. Looking for a great spot to take your kids, there's an area of the park for that! Looking to enjoy the water and maybe see an alligator, there are plenty of spots for that. Beautiful. Picturesque.

It also serves as an educational venue for students and contributes to economic development and tourism in the area.
We had a really great time eating beignets in the courtyard and listen to the saxophone player who’s been playing there forever. There’s a big water fountain in the center of the courtyard and the birds were flapping around in the top bowl taking a birdbath. It was so cute. the people are really nice and the food was really good

Musical Legends Park is such a nice break from the usual chaos of Bourbon Street. It’s an open-air courtyard with live jazz, plenty of seating, and a really relaxed vibe. You can grab a coffee or a drink from Café Beignet and just enjoy the music without needing a reservation or a cover charge. The live band was fantastic—super talented and clearly having fun. It’s not too loud or too packed, so you can actually sit and have a conversation while listening. There are statues of New Orleans music legends around the space, which gives it a nice local touch.

Awesome place for some free live music with a lot of seats. There is a café and a bar. The bar has affordable drinks but some of the stuff is pre made so it’s a hit and miss. I’ve had awesome blood Mary’s here but also had watery/meh ones. Staff could start washing their hands before shoving the garnishes in the cups tho, or at least use utensils for that.

It's a beautiful place to visit however it was very loud and crowded. Even with that being said we were able to get our food fast and the staff was very friendly. The Presbytère, located next to the St. Louis Cathedral on Jackson Square, is a state museum housed in a former courthouse built in 1813. It offers two permanent exhibits that delve into the city's history and traditions. One exhibit focuses on the famous Mardi Gras celebration, showcasing its history and traditions. The other exhibit sheds light on the impact and recovery of Hurricane Katrina, providing insight into this devastating storm that struck New Orleans in 2005.
I like this museum a lot. It had some historical information and there was a whole floor dedicated to the Katrina flood. Upstairs from that was a whole bunch of Mardi gras stuff. There was a lot of interactive displays and they had plenty of places to sit for you to watch documentaries. I would recommend going there over some of the other museums. Dad are more commercialized. This one seems legit

Absolutely INCREDIBLE experience. Amazing history highlight tragedy and celebration!! Loved seeing the vintage mardi gras costumes so well preserved. Definitely a must visit for New Orlean’s extensive history, it’s worth the money. I reserved tickets in advance for my trip and was sold a faulty one, the worker at the front desk was nice and let me in to see the museum regardless.

Underwhelming. $9. Two floors, one about the hurricane, and the other about mardi gras. Old news. They could have done better.

Such a tragic loss to be archived in a museum. Hurricane Katrina took a lot of lives and property and nobody knows it than those who have experienced this and survived. Here you a full display of what New Orleans went through. It was worth the ticket to be informed, but it was worth paying your respects 🙏🏽
Aubrey S — Google review
Their current exhibition of Mardi Gras is amazing for anyone who doesn't know a thing about this crazy tradition. Everything from its origins and structure, costume design and jewels to popular themes and modern satire. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to hurricanes, also very informative.

Basically went as a way to beat the heat but the modest admission price was well worth it. So much info about Mardi Gras and Hurricane Katrina, spent about 1/1.5 hours and could have easily spent more. Lots of history and beautiful Mardi Gras costumes and lots of information about levees, water management and Hurricane Katrina response. If you're interested in either of these things (or are willing to spend $7 for a bathroom, AC and beautiful views of Jackson Square), this museum is for you.
Mary L — Google review
2 story museum with a Mardi Gras history on the 2nd floor and Hurricane Katrina on the first. I'll be honest, the Hurricane Katrina portion didn't really "wow" me too much, but I was amazed at the Mardi Gras exhibit. The collection was huge and awesome. They had several artifacts from over 100 years ago, and very detailed explanations.
Nicholas R — Google review
We visited the museum for the Mardi Gras exhibition on level two but also saw the exhibition about Hurricane Catrina on level one. Both were very informative. We had no idea how often New Orleans suffered with the devastation of these hurricanes. In the Mardi Gras exhibition, we learnt how the date of the processions starts on the 6th of January and ends on Tuesday shrove Tuesday here or as the Americans call it Fat Tuesday before Lent. We saw the babies that are placed in the king cakes. Also, the stunning jewellery and head pieces designed for the queen of the processions. Fantastic museum and nice and cool to escape the heat outside.

The atmosphere is described as bohemian yet sophisticated, attracting a diverse crowd of locals and visitors alike.
Bacchanal is a truly unique experience. There are two options for dining available. Self-service outside style or inside seated. We chose to sit outside and listen to some nice, live jazz music while enjoying a couple of bottles of wine and superb appetizers. This was in May, so it was pretty “warm” 🥵but they do have several fans to keep the air moving around. Parking is difficult so I suggest getting dropped off.

Wow! We absolutely loved this place tonight. My wife and I go to dinner frequently in New Orleans. This is hands down one of the coolest experiences we have ever had. Super laid back atmosphere. No table service so you don’t have a server making you feel rushed to get out. Really nice outdoor patio with live music. The music started at 7pm tonight. It’s like a DIY at your own pace restaurant. I loved that about this place. GO. CHECK. IT. OUT!

This feels like a place you’d see in an HBO finale where all the hot late 20s to 30 or 40 something’s meet up in the season finale to have a celebratory send-off of some kind. If like the vibes of Sideways were a restaurant. Truly unique dining experience. Food was great. Drinks were fantastic. Music was delightful. Service is top notch. Property is adorable. Will scream this recommendation from rooftops for anyone visiting NOLA. 5/5 will return at some point.

Amazing food!! It was confusing to understand their set up at first, but, they have a small place downstairs where you can buy wine and you either take it home or take it upstairs to the restaurant and have it with the food you are gonna order. In the back there is a patio with occasional live music. Seriously… amazing food!

Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter, The Historic New Orleans Collection is a treasure trove for anyone captivated by the rich tapestry of New Orleans' past. Established in 1966, this remarkable museum and research center serves as a guardian of over three centuries of history and culture from the city and Gulf South region.
A Hidden Gem for History Lovers (and it's FREE!) I was surprised by the quality and depth of the displays. There's a lot of history packed into this collection, and it's presented in an engaging way. I spent a good amount of time exploring the various exhibits and definitely left with a better understanding of New Orleans' past. If you're the kind of person who enjoys museums and historical sites, I would definitely suggest setting aside at least an hour to explore. It's a worthwhile and free activity that offers a great insight into the history and culture of New Orleans.

Had an incredible time walking through the Vietnamese exhibit that they had. It was amazing to hear about the history of Vietnamese culture in New Orleans which we did not know a lot about. The stories shared were touching and inspiring. It showed up many places we wanted to visit during our trip like the first Viet restaurant in New Orleans like Pho Tau Bay. The museum is very extensive with 3 floors of artifacts and stories highlighting the many things of the city that makes it so unique. Although this is a free place to visit, it is recommended to donate to keep this place running to educate tourist like me about the true beauties of this city. Thank you for an incredible time.
J H — Google review
It's a wonderful history museum focused on Louisiana and New Orleans. There's 3 floors and each floor has a different theme. I liked the second floor. It talked about the Mississippi River delta and the decline of land. The oil industry digs trenches and the trench fills with salt water and kills the surrounding grass and plants. That helps speed up the erosion process and that' been going on since the 1930's. The other problem is Levy's. They don't allow silt and sediment to travel down stream. By 2070, Louisiana will be 40% smaller.

I love this museum! Wonderful exhibits! Last week I went 2 days in a row because I spent hours just on the 3rd floor my first day there. My visit began with a wonderful demonstration of their Aeolian organ on the 3rd floor. Surround sound from the roaring twenties! Very cool. Then I explored various exhibits about the history, people and traditions of New Orleans. Admission is free, just check in to get a ticket. Do not miss their wonderful gift shop next door!

My girlfriend and I came here based on a recommendation from our guide at Cemetery #1. We had a couple hours to fill before dinner, and we were extremely pleased with this museum. The current exhibits contain amazing aerial shots of the Bayou is changing over this photographer's life, wildlife explanations and pictures/statues/tactile displays (great for kids), artwork depicting New Orleans through the years, and a very well done civil rights story (we just visited the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, and this added some information to that). Extremely highly recommend coming to this museum; in a word, it's excellent

It is one of the oldest museums in the state and provides an intriguing experience for visitors interested in delving into Civil War history.
Very interesting, a lot of historical artifacts that cannot be found elsewhere. A video in the museum shows the stories behind some of the uniforms and artifacts

This place is not a museum it is a memorial. The way they portrayed history is incredibly sympathetic towards the confederacy In a museum u need to acknowledge all sides, yet there is no mention of slavery anywhere. The video they play is pure propaganda. The thing is u could write all this off if it wasn’t for the fact they SOLD CONFEDERATE FLAGS IN THE GIFT SHOP
Kat L — Google review
This is the oldest museum in Louisiana. In this museum, you’ll see a large collection of Confederate flags, military uniforms, and Louisiana made swords and guns. Adult admission is $10. You can probably spend 30 mins to 1 hr here. It’s across the street from the WW2 museum. Everything was well taken care of. It’s a self guided tour but yes I do wish they had more information on the overall Civil War.
Nicholas P — Google review
Oldest museum in Louisiana. Amazing collection of very personable items. Small that you can take it in if short on time as across the road, the WWii museum is BIG and way more expensive.

This is a smaller museum, but just as interesting as a large one. I learned some interesting facts about the Confederate war. And the staff were very friendly and happy to answer my questions. It's not interactive, it is the oldest museum in Louisiana.

I feel this is an absolutely must see museum for history buffs. The oldest operating museum in Louisiana and second largest collection of Confederate memorabilia in the world. A very large representation of Louisiana units, soldiers and commanders. Original uniforms, flags, weapons and personnel effects all carried in the war. A really fascinating collection.
Louis E — Google review
I arrived about 40 minutes before their 4pm closing. The museum collection consists primarily of various personal possessions of officers of the Confederate Army and some key individuals of the Confederacy. It does not attempt to tell the full story of secession and the ensuing war, though of course all the exhibits relate to those events. It is therefore an entirely different experience from the lavishly narrated WW2 museum across the street. I found it worthwhile, but had no difficulty leaving before closing.

If you're intrigued by the darker aspects of life and death, the Museum of Death in New Orleans is a must-visit destination. This unique museum showcases an extensive collection that includes mortuary tools, chilling crime scene photographs, and artifacts related to infamous serial killers. Visitors can explore letters from notorious figures like Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Kaczynski, as well as artwork created by John Wayne Gacy. Originally established in California in 1995 by Catherine Shultz and J.D.
A fascinating and thorough set of exhibits that explore the taboo issue of "the big sleep". The history behind the exhibits was very interesting and there was so much info I couldn't read everything. If you have an interest in the macabre, you should certainly make a stop. Plus the employees were cool and were ready for any questions I had. 10/10.
Ian W — Google review
For $20, it is a cheap little activity to do once. You'll usually be in and out of the museum in about 45 minutes. Be warned that this museum is extremely graphic and gore-related in some areas, which some people may not be able to witness. I can say that the letters from serial killers are the best part, in my opinion, due to their originality. It is very interesting to see actual items from high-profile individuals. Most of the reports and information can be found online. The staff was friendly, and the gift shop was reasonably priced. This museum is a one-time event, in my opinion, and I don't see them getting many return customers. Some displays seemed to have filler items, and the massive amount of taxidermy animals gets a bit boring.
Anonymous ( — Google review
I slightly enjoyed the museum. Giving it four stars for the reason being people are being charged $20 for admission and not allowed to take photographs past the entry point . I came all the way from MA and this was one place I really wanted to enjoy and have a few photos to remember after I leave. The museum is also not huge in size. It had some interesting artifacts relating to dead animals, serial killers & some political ,mass crimes and process of death/decomposition but that’s about it.
Maryam Y — Google review
Nice small self guided walking tour. Museum is based on serial killers and their stories. You can’t take pictures of the items inside of the museum, but you can take pictures in the lobby area.
Veronica — Google review
Visiting this “museum” was hellish. It is simply a place that glorifies and enshrines serial killers. I went here hoping to learn more about respectful practices concerning death across cultures. Instead, this place mostly displayed multiple serial killers’ memorabilia with crime scene photos of brutalised victims who were not even offered dignity in death. Not even named. Their photos were so disgustingly displayed to create a shock factor. All the while I heard the front desk workers go “it’s just 20$ per ticket! Have so much fun in there” across the entrance curtains. It was so disgusting and shocking. I hope no one working here or visiting this place ever experiences such a horrific loss of a loved one, just for it to be sensationalised as done so in this place. Don’t go here if you have a conscience.
Sarah K — Google review
No photos or videos allowed once inside. Interesting articles and photos, yes graphic so not for kids.
Tara M — Google review
First off, you’re not allowed to take any pictures, which feels ridiculous for a $20 ticket. And she told me "no pictures " right as she charged my card. The displays themselves were pretty lackluster not nearly as interesting or detailed as I expected. For the price I honestly expected a lot more. Overall it just wasn’t worth it
Mori — Google review
Before I say my feelings about the museum itself, I want to note that the staff was very friendly and helpful. If I could separately rate them 5 stars, I would. Now to my review, I am a fan of the macabre. That said, this museum glorified killers and minimized the experiences of victims. There are some cool artifacts (taxidermy, some old mortuary devices). But this is overshadowed by everything else. The vast majority is photographs/videos of victims with little information about who they are. Meanwhile serial killers get full page length explanations and borderline justification of their actions. Fictional gore doesn’t bother me but this museum lacks any shred of empathy. As another review said: For example one of the most grotesque photos was featured in a frame that said only the quote “all because two people fell in love” and featured a suicide victim with his head blown to bits in a bathtub. There was no take away. When visiting New Orleans, be sure to include a stop at the Sazerac House in your itinerary. This historic house is dedicated to the official cocktail of the city, the Sazerac. Here, you can delve into its history and production process while enjoying samples of this iconic drink and other cocktails. The on-site shop offers an opportunity to purchase your favorite spirits to take home.
My first time to NOLA, and I booked the complimentary tour as well as the cocktail tasting class. The tour was self guided, so I could move at my own pace. And the cocktail class was 1 hour of fantastic interactive class with our guide, Andrew. He made the class very fun and engaging. He even gave us a taste of the real pure Sazerac Cognac, because now apparently they use Sazerac Rye for the cocktails. And it was so good! Very recommended if you are visiting NOLA. Book one of the paid tours.

If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, the museum at the Sazerac House is a must-visit! And the best part? It’s completely FREE! Just make sure to reserve your spot, but trust me, we had no issues at all. You'll be immersed in a treasure trove of history that’s truly captivating. Don't miss the chance to sit at the virtual bartender station and watch the amazing sloe gin fizz video—it’s a game-changer! While some bars might not get it right, you'll leave knowing exactly how it should be done. Oh, and speaking of experiences, my friend booked the cocktails class, and it was nothing short of spectacular! Andrew, the cocktail expert, shared a wealth of knowledge about spirits and the rise of whiskey that kept us all engaged. Plus, we enjoyed FREE tastings—three of them! We had an absolute blast and it was worth every single penny. Don’t miss out on this exciting adventure!

This is a must-visit for anyone interested in New Orleans history and culture. The exhibits are beautifully curated, showcasing the story of the iconic Sazerac cocktail and its place in the city’s rich heritage. Walking through the house, you get a real sense of tradition and craftsmanship, and the attention to detail in both the displays and the building itself is impressive. The atmosphere is inviting and elegant, making it a pleasure to explore. The tasting experiences and interactive elements add an extra layer of enjoyment, whether you’re a cocktail enthusiast or just looking to learn something new. The Sazerac House is a perfect blend of history, culture, and flavor, and it’s well worth a stop while in New Orleans.

Great experience and customer service. Self-Guided Free tour with samples. We made reservations for the free tour however you are able to walk in and they will Assist. Parking is limited however we were able to find a free space on the street. Great location with access to bourbon and canal streets in walking distance. Lots of options to purchase. Great history. I would return.

This place was so cool. It’s nice to see how local history can play such an important part of American history. It gave some insight into brands like buffalo trace and southern comfort. Museum is well maintained and well done and I’ve really enjoyed our tour.

Wow - Beautiful facility to showcase the 508 brands of distilled spirits that this outstanding company owns. It’s a little overwhelming. They recently purchased fireball and buzz ball and that acquisition alone made them over $1 million. Victoria is free and they have all kinds of stuff you can buy, including all of the spirits. Every person on the staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Bonus free tasting - Check it out!

A three-story museum of winemaking and the creation of alcoholic beverages. At the entrance, you'll receive a Quarcode for a museum tour (you must bring your ID card). Those under 21 will receive a Quarcode stating "No Alcohol." The tour is free. On each floor, staff offer drink samples, including lemonade for those under 21. There's a shop at the end of the museum. The museum is interesting and delicious.

We took a self guided tour. It was pretty good but if you are with a group, they tend to sail by instead of reading the stories. You MUST carry your IID. Pictures not allowed

The Cabildo is a historic landmark in New Orleans that now houses a museum showcasing the history of the area, including the signing of the Louisiana Purchase. It is considered one of the most important historic buildings in the United States and a significant monument from the period of Spanish rule in Louisiana. The original building was constructed in 1769 under Governor Don Alejandro O'Reilly's administration, marking a shift from French to Spanish governance.
The Cabildo: A Treasure of Louisiana’s History! Standing proudly beside St. Louis Cathedral, The Cabildo is one of the most beautiful and historically significant buildings in Jackson Square. Its grand Spanish colonial architecture immediately catches the eye, but what lies inside is even more remarkable—a journey through the history of Louisiana, filled with stories of resilience, culture, and transformation. Walking through its halls, I felt transported back in time. The museum’s exhibits cover everything from the Louisiana Purchase, which forever changed the course of American history, to the diverse cultures that have shaped New Orleans into the vibrant city it is today. The artifacts on display—paintings, documents, and personal belongings of historical figures—bring the past to life in a way that’s both engaging and deeply moving. One of the highlights was seeing the death mask of Napoleon Bonaparte, an unexpected yet fascinating piece of history. But what struck me most was how the museum tells the story of Louisiana’s people—from the indigenous tribes to the Creole, African, and European influences that have blended together over centuries. For anyone visiting Jackson Square, The Cabildo is a must-see. It’s not just a museum—it’s a gateway to understanding the heart and soul of New Orleans. The stories within its walls remind us that this city has always been a place of change, culture, and enduring spirit. And the ticket was just $10 for adults, $8 for kids. Make sure you visit it

Great museum of Louisiana history! First time I've been! Enjoy.

Fun fact, they have a weekly yoga class with a beautiful view of Jackson square and the museum visit is included. The teacher was excellent, the atmosphere over the top with architectural beauty, and the history is wonderful.
Elen C — Google review
The Cabildo is a must-see historical building located right on Jackson Square, next to the iconic St. Louis Cathedral. Originally built between 1795 and 1799 as the Spanish colonial city hall, it's now part of the Louisiana State Museum and offers a fascinating look into the history of Louisiana. I was really impressed by the nice displays throughout The Cabildo. It's amazing to walk through the same halls where the Louisiana Purchase transfer ceremony took place in 1803, a pivotal moment that doubled the size of the United States! One of the highlights for me was seeing the incredible and dazzling costumes worn for the famous Mardi Gras parades, a truly unique aspect of New Orleans culture. It gives you a real sense of the excitement and artistry that goes into this annual event. The museum also features a moving room dedicated to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, which provides an important reminder of the resilience and spirit of the people of New Orleans. It's worth noting that The Cabildo has served many important functions throughout its history, including as the New Orleans City Hall and the home of the Louisiana Supreme Court. There is an admission fee to enter, but it's a worthwhile investment for anyone interested in history and the cultural heritage of Louisiana. I would highly recommend spending a couple of hours here to fully appreciate all that The Cabildo has to offer.

Really nice museum . Loved the exhibits here. It is well worth a visit
Gary G — Google review
This is a cool museum with lots of information about local history: Choctaw and Houma native American tribes, the battle of Chalmette, French and Spanish influence on the area, local herbs and flora, and much more. Very reasonably priced, and not crowded. There are restrooms but only for paid guests, and once you exit the building you can't get back in (even with a ticket stub).
Lee R — Google review
The exhibits seem incredibly dated. They assume that you already know something going into it and do not provide good background information. The section on Spanish influence in New Orleans was just an empty room with a few posters.

Great museum building with a lot of history. The staff was very friendly and the exhibits were great. Part of the state museum package I bought all 4 museums for the discount and I'm very happy with the outcome. For a museum junkie New Orleans is a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

Storyland is a children's amusement center located in City Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. The outdoor location features 20 colorful sculptures and playscapes representing storybook characters like Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Snow White. Inside the building there are over 25 exhibits that include slide towers, a giant lily pad, and a pirate ship.
What a magical walk through. All the story books coming to life is such a sweet childhood memory that I know my family will cherish for forever. The train ride was way longer than I expected. It went around the whole park, which is insanely huge
Tim C — Google review
After paying to visit the nearby amusement park, there was a gate that led to Storyland. It's normally $6 per person. The concept is fun with many different children book-themed areas like a climbing structure leading to a giant slide that's Jack and the Beanstalk. Funny mirrors are part of the Alice in Wonderland section. Despite a fun theme, it's a little rundown and there's not enough to do to keep kids engaged for a long time. If it was free, it's fine, but not for $6. There are restrooms so that's a plus.

Storyland is a magical place where stories come to life! Perfect for kids—safe, clean, and full of wonder. Every corner sparks imagination, from life size fairy tale characters to interactive story zones. A must-visit! The whole area is pretty well shaded so even on the hot days it's a good place to spend some time.

⸻ Review for Storyland at New Orleans City Park I brought my 21-month-old daughter to Storyland, hoping to make some happy memories. Unfortunately, it turned out to be very disappointing. Much of the park is run down—rides and displays weren’t working, everything looked dirty, and there were spiderwebs everywhere. Some of the rides also didn’t feel safe for children, which was very concerning. It’s really sad because this could be such a wonderful spot for little kids, but instead it feels neglected and poorly maintained. I wanted my daughter’s first memories here to be magical, but instead it was just dirty, uninviting, and unsafe. New Orleans families deserve better places to bring their children.
Robert S — Google review
This place felt like a tourist trap. Its really not worth spending any money on. The structures were dirty, the water around it appeared moldy and it was really not interactive enough for our kids. Our kids were really over it within 20 mins. My kids loved and spend more time at the free city park across the street.

Went in on Christmas Eve. The line was long but well worth it. Many iconic characters from fairytales. And once the lights turned on at night , it got even more beautiful. The park is well maintained, and clean. Certainly good family time.

I brought my very imaginative 9 year old here during our vacation to New Orleans. He had a great time as well as my 14 year old my husband and I. It was fun to interact with fun storybook characters. We explored the whole storyland and had a great time. There was quite a bit to explore as well as fun little facts and stories to read along the way.

Updated 2025 review: Great walking trails! Well maintained, well marked. The visitor center was a wealth of information and the park rangers were friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone in the area. 2019 review: The employees here are passionate about their work. I came as a single person and was welcomed into the planetarium ($8 for an adult) and it was great. The planetarium is geared to kids, but the gal doing the show was just lovely. I was not aware that the 2nd Saturday of each month is a farmers market, so that was a nice surprise. Everything else is free of charge. I walked part of the trails, and they were well maintained. I look forward to coming back and bringing friends with me.

Great place to take kids. Star were the friendliest of any nature center I have ever been too! The boardwalk trail is nice. We saw turtles and a swap rabbit. The bathrooms were very clean. They have a planetarium and a clean inside portion to the nature center as well. The path was shady and nice. Would 100% recommend this place!
Nicole P — Google review
When we visited some of the trails were closed but we still had a nice walk around the loop, every bit of it was boardwalk. The interpretive center was very nicely done with several live animals and our daughter was able to do some arts and crafts too. Ranger Steve in the planetarium was wonderful, he is very welcoming and a wealth of information. In fact every one we met was very welcoming. This is the perfect place for children.
Janessa J — Google review
Walked up and Sarah the park ranger gave me all the info on the trails and the exhibits they have to offer. I enjoyed walking the nature trails and seeing the gator. The trails are elevated so kid friendly and there is another trail that is longer but the high water has it temporarily closed. I will visit again when that part reopens.
Reggie — Google review
If you haven’t made the trip out here, you definitely need to geaux! The park rangers are so genuinely passionate about what they do and enthusiastic about sharing it. The trails and the discovery exhibits are beautifully designed and maintained well. And the real STAR of the show (see what I did there?) is the planetarium experience - it’s not what you expect if you’ve been to planetariums before - this is a guided, personalized experience. It’s been weeks since we went and my kid still finds cool nature stuff on walks and asks me to send videos to Space Ranger Steve.
Meredith R — Google review
The Audubon Louisiana Nature Center offers peaceful scenery and nature immersion through a system of manageable length nature trails for all ages, toddlers to elderly. Options for boardwalk or dirt trails are available. The boardwalk trails have built-in benches at turn-around points perfect for those who require recovery after short distances. The Interpretive Center is only open 10am - 2pm Thurs - Sat but is worth planning your trip around if you would like to make this an educational visit or have small children to wow. While the facility is equipped with a Planetarium, it has been closed since the pandemic began and has not opened as of the writing of this review 3/2023.

Haven't been here in well over 20 years. Unfortunately, hurricanes have caused a reduction in size; however, staff was friendly & knowledgeable. Bring bug spray & water for the trails. Pay for the Planetarium show - it's worth the nominal fee, especially since there is no other admittance charge for the Nature Center or trails.

Live music bar
The Spotted Cat Music Club is a renowned jazz and blues venue in New Orleans, known for its intimate and lively atmosphere. The weathered bar hosts live acts on a small stage, drawing in a standing-room crowd eager to experience the velvety tones of sax, swing of trombone, and soul-thumping beat of drums.
Got to witness some excellent jazz at the Spotted Cat Music Club even on a Monday night! Only a $5 pp cover charge to enter after which you can stay for as long as you like. Reasonable cocktails, beer and a safe but lively atmosphere. We managed to grab a couple of seats along the wall and had a great view, but other than those and the seats at the bar, the club is standing room only. It filled out quickly post dinner for the 21:30 show. Check out the schedule on their website to know who is playing when and plan your visit accordingly.

Good logo, cool building, good merch and great jazz Came here to watch an enthusiastic ensemble perform funk swing covers of pop classics while my friend browsed an art market next door. As I entered I was somewhat frustrated in my friends’ decision to browse the art market after finally dragging them to Frenchmen street after a week in New Orleans. At this point I was not waiting any longer to quench my thirst for jazz. The band were incredible, and had so much energy. One of the best trumpet players I’ve seen and value for entry was not bad!
Max R — Google review
My Uber driver told me to check this place out and I'm so glad that I did. The music was amazing! I ended up staying longer than I originally thought I would but the show was so amazing and engaging. It's a very small venue so be prepared to be a bit crowded but it's so worth it. They had a lot of options for drinks and despite how busy it was the bartender was still very helpful. One of those spots where you feel like you travel back in time.

There is a cover charge. Great little club for live music & the band & vibe was great. No food. Not many Non alcoholic drink options. Very limited seating, standing room is most likely what you will have available. The locals are absolutely awesome! Glad we stopped in while in town.

Some of the BEST music in NOLA. Music all of the time after 2pm. We saw Jenavieve and the Winding boys, they were phenomenal. Please tip the bands, that's how they survive. CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH 🤩 Skyler & Cass gave me and my friends the best service any of us have had anywhere (including upscale dining, favorite local joints where the servers know everything about me, etc.). I have never been actually shocked by someone’s kindness and level of service before, but I was actually speechless with these guys. Give 👏🏼 them 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 raise 👏🏼. I have finally completed all of the rooms in NOLA. All of the games were movie level details and care. Two rooms completed with no help and two we may or may not have used the button a couple of times for the mad dash at the end 🤭. Our group was only 3 people for each room which was perfectly doable if you are good at working together. If you’re looking for escape rooms, look no further, none of the others compare. Thank you guys for the best birthday!

Kudos to Sage the Game Master. My wife and I are in town visiting NOLA. We love doing escape games and have done over 50 rooms now. The Escape Game is on the top of our list. We did The Heist tonight and got out with 6 mins remaining. Sage gave us a few nudges. Other than a few nudges, all of the puzzles in The Heist were fun, challenging but made sense, and fit the theme of the room. Easily doable for 2 people. Ben and Rayne were super nice too. I highly recommend The Escape Game. So much so that we seek out The Escape game locations when we travel.

Step back in time and experience the charm of a bygone era aboard the Steamboat Natchez. This old-fashioned steamboat offers delightful cruises along the mighty Mississippi River, complete with buffet dining and live jazz music. Whether you opt for a leisurely brunch or an enchanting dinner cruise, you'll be treated to stunning views and delicious Creole cuisine.
This was such a fun, relaxing, and educational experience. The staff was super friendly and engaging, the jazz band was great and had fun with the crowd, and I loved getting to hear a little bit of history and facts about the buildings and sites we saw down the river. We got to ride on The City of New Orleans riverboat. My only constructive critique is I think reminders, signage, or announcements that there are bars on all the levels would help with lines at the third floor bar. I really enjoyed the summer drinks - they were yum! We loved the experience overall!!
John T — Google review
Wonderful jazz cruise on an authentic New Orleans steamer (though I believe the steam mechanism is superseded by electrical power). The paddle is very impressive, and mesmerising to lose yourself into for periods of time. The cruise is a perfect length of time, and leaves you well situated to make your way to Bourbon, Frenchmen or the hotel district as you depart. The boat took approximately 1 hour before departing, and we were inundated with interesting facts about the boat as we departed, before the band returned for a second ~1 hour long set. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the crew do not seem to prevent you from moving chairs around and sitting in paces that perhaps aren’t intended. The band were good, and broadcast throughout the ship, though there were some mixing issues at the start and only the sousaphone could be heard. Merely a minor teething issue. The sousaphone player gave us some notes as we were departing the boat which was a nice extra surprise. Overall a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend!

Late birthday gift. Took this tour on a Monday. It was still crowded but I bought our tickets online. The band is great. They serve food and drinks which were delicious. Got the gumbo I mostly loved the history lesson that's provided during the tour. You learn more about the Mississippi River and the structures surrounding the city Tour is about 2 hours long. It's definitely worth the 35.00 but don't forget to add the extra 35.00 for parking😫 Saw someone get a boot

We had an amazing time even though it was really cold! (9 degrees Celsius). Views at night are stunning. The ship is really cool to be in. And navigating the Mississippi River?? 10/10 Just look at the pictures! We didn’t have food. But there are bars with snacks you can purchase

What a great experience! We did the dinner @6 and the buffet was awesome! It was full course meal with a live Jazz band that plays throughout your cruise, plus they give narration on the history of the Mississippi River and get to explore the boat at your convenience. Definitely Recommend.

This was so much fun!! The guide for the short trip gave a lot of fun facts about New Orleans, the river, & the steamboat. The band was lovely and all the staff were extremely nice. We didn’t get the food, we just went for the ride. However, in the area where the band is playing you can get complimentary iced tea and water which was very much needed in the heat. Gorgeous and would definitely recommend!

A classic New Orleans experience. The steamboat is beautifully preserved, the ride is smooth, and the views along the Mississippi are stunning. The live jazz adds a charming touch. A great way to see the city from the water.
Burcu E — Google review
My experience with the Steam Boat was completely unsatisfactory and I do not recommend it. I booked a 3-hour tour through TripAdvisor,Oct 29 but the description is misleading. Of those three hours, the boat was tied up and not moving for 1 hour and 15 minutes while we were left waiting on board. It was freezing cold, and we were shivering out in the open with no shelter. The entire boat, especially the bar area, smelled strongly of dampness, mold, and mildew, making the air unpleasant to breathe. The boat didn't set sail until 7:10 p.m., by which time it was completely dark and there was nothing worth seeing out the window. To make things worse, we were in the second dinner seating, which meant we had to spend an hour and a half on the deck in the unbearable cold, with no one from the crew informing us we could wait inside the dining room. When we were finally called to eat, we saw that other passengers had been sheltered there all along. The food itself was mediocre. In summary, it was a horrible, poorly organized experience that is a complete waste of money.

The French Quarter Phantoms Ghost Tours in New Orleans is a top contender for the best ghost tour in town, offering an exciting and historically accurate experience. Developed with input from the National Paranormal Society, these tours are suitable for families and adults and cover about a mile over a leisurely two-hour walk, rain or shine.
My wife and I came to NOLA for our 1 years anniversary and decided to do the ghosts and vampires tour; it was very informative and entertaining. Katherine, our guide, was very knowledgeable, personable, enthusiastic, and detailed in her descriptions. She very much made the tour an enjoyable experience that my wife and I wont soon forget. I don't know how often you see these reviews, but just in case: Thank you for being apart of our journey, Katherine. Seeing other reviews I now wish I took more pictures, but I was engrossed in the story telling 😅

I went on a tour with Katherine for a wedding party, and it was awesome! I was worried it would be people jumping out to scare you or super cheesy, but Katharine did a great job of mixing history with the stories. Before the tour, she asked if we would prefer more ghosts and vampires or more history, and since we're all fairly nerdy we chose more history. Katharine was a phenomenal storyteller. You always knew what parts of the stories were historically accurate, and what parts were legend. She also made sure we knew how to stay safe during the whole tour. She offered electrolytes and water whenever we needed and made sure we stayed safe and healthy. Next time I come to New Orleans, I'll have to book another tour and request Katharine again!

My daughter and I did the ghost & vampire tour on Halloween night! It was awesome! Breon was an amazing story teller. We learned a lot about the hauntings, ghosts & vampires! Great way to spend Halloween night! Highly recommend!

We went on the 8pm adult tour with our spectacular guide Katherine! We originally decided on this tour because my friend and I share a favorite podcast (Last Podcast on the Left) and they highly recommended this tour when in NOLA. It did not disappoint! Katherine is a phenomenal tour guide who obviously loves her city, and gives her all to the information during the tour. The idea of ghosts during this tour felt more like the ghosts of our past, and Katherine did an incredible job honing in on that vibe from the get-go. A true master storyteller. She checks in on us and even carries a cooler with water and Gatorade to make sure we stay healthy and happy during the tour. That kind of caring service is rare nowadays! The tour is a grisly overview of the hard to swallow truth about American history (and sprinkled with documented spooky vampire and paranormal instances) but Katherine informed us in such a way that not only did I learn so much more than I ever did in school, but I got goosebumps multiple times. If you’re looking for a no-nonsense, taken seriously “ghost” tour, this is your stop!

Took the tour tonight with my husband. Katherine was AMAZING! It was an all adult VIP tour and her energy, knowledge, attentiveness, and passion was Impeccable. It was entertaining and historical. The thorough exploration of the various periods, events, people, and culture was engaging and also helped answer so many questions! The best experience and Katherine was integral part of the wonderful experience. Thanks - Let the Good Times Roll!

Our guide Randy made this tour a highlight of our NOLA trip. We did it on our first night which made it a fun introduction to the city and a good way to get familiar with the city’s layout, landmarks, and unique culture before exploring on our own the next day. Randy was clearly very knowledgeable about the city and its history and was a truly talented story teller. He spoke loudly and always made sure everyone could hear him clearly, answered any questions we had, and was especially accommodating to a member of our group who uses a wheelchair. Because of our guide we came away from the tour with scary stories, cherished insights, and a shared appreciation for the rich history of this wonderfully strange city.

Holy WOW! Kathryn was amazing. Definitely the very best tour we've been on. Lots of history and fun. Also just saw this photo from the tour. So weird! Totally unedited.

Out of all the ghost tours we could have booked in the area, I am so happy we picked this one. I had a phenomenal experience. Our guide Breon was an amazing guide and an even better storyteller. Taking this tour was actually one of my favorite parts of our trip, thanks to him. I would do this again and highly recommend taking this specific ghost tour— especially if you get to snag Breon as your guide!

Live music venue
Rock 'N' Bowl in Mid-City, New Orleans offers a unique experience where live music and bowling come together. The venue hosts local legends performing rockabilly, swing, and zydeco music right next to the bowling lanes. The dance floor gets lively as visitors groove to the tunes. With a well-stocked bar and a kitchen serving up Creole-inspired dishes like chicken wings and boudin balls, it's an ideal spot for groups looking for a fun night out.
Rock 'n' Bowl is more than just a bowling alley; it's a vibrant cultural hotspot in New Orleans that seamlessly blends the city's love for music, food, and fun. Imagine bowling to the sounds of zydeco and swing music, with a lively atmosphere and decor that exudes authentic gaudiness. On Tuesdays, you can swing dance, while Wednesdays and Thursdays are dedicated to zydeco, and the weekends feature a diverse lineup of performers. Booking a lane is straightforward, with reservations available for up to six people per lane. The full kitchen and bar, featuring the Front Porch Grill, ensure you won't go hungry or thirsty, offering everything from pub grub to New Orleans favorites. Murals by Tony Green add to its charm, making Rock 'n' Bowl a true New Orleans gem that perfectly captures the city's lively essence.

It was my first time here and I was not expecting such a good time with the live music and bowling. It was packed and food was really good. I don't really have anything bad to say about it.

Neat and fun place. We plan to visit again. My biggest let down was the sound man/FOH. The band was wonderful but the sound man did a very poor job. The sub frequencies continuesly we're feeding back around 80hz and 160hz. A very simple EQ adjustment could have fixed everything.

Great fun! Great service! Bring your party here and you'll have an awesome time.

The Rock N Bowl in New Orleans is absolutely wonderful. There were 50 in our group, and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The music was on point, the food was great, the place was clean and the staff were absolutely wonderful. Those who bowled had a great time. Some of us learned different line dances. Even our bus driver came in and joined the dances. I strongly recommend the Rock N Bowl for just about any type of event.

It was an overall great experience and I would rate 5 stars but Briana the bartender was so rude to me and other people at the bar. Her attitude is disgusting and I won’t come back if she’s there. Hope someone tells her to be better

Love!!!!! Went here on a Thursday night because of a recommendation from a friend and was hesitant to pay $15 for a cover. But do it! because with the cover you get live music and dance lessons from the other bar goers. My friends and I had a blast here our first night in NOLA. Starting with dancing and then onto bowling once we got tired… PS. You don’t need to rent bowling shoes if you have close toed shoes. If you are wearing sandals you have to rent shoes and buy socks for $3

The New Orleans School of Cooking is a delightful destination for anyone eager to dive into the rich culinary heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana. Nestled in a beautifully restored 1800s molasses warehouse in the vibrant French Quarter, this cooking school provides an immersive experience through various lessons that highlight local ingredients sourced from the Louisiana General Store.
This cooking class was one of the best experiences I've ever had while traveling! Chef Austin was our guide. Under his direction, we made the most delicious gumbo and BBQ shrimp and grits and banana foster crepes. It was so fun cooking and he gave a lot of culinary tips. He met us at our speed and level. What was extra awesome was that we ate our food at a round table with everyone else in the class and along with Chef Austin's southern hospitality, this fostered such a homey environment and allowed such great conversation to happen. The ingredients came prepped already and we didn't have to do the dishes which are the least fun parts of cooking. There was also bottomless wine and beer. We also got to take our aprons and the printed recipes home!

We’ve been a handful of times for a few different classes! The food is outstanding every single time. The price …you can’t even go out to dinner for an entree for that price and whole demonstration with love put into it! Our instructor Liz was amazing! So knowledgeable , funny, and can tell loves being there. We will be back …again :)

An Unforgettable Culinary Experience at the New Orleans School of Cooking I highly recommend the New Orleans School of Cooking—this was truly one of the best experiences during our visit to the beautiful city of New Orleans. The hands-on cooking class was both educational and entertaining, perfectly blending history, culture, and flavor into one memorable afternoon. The class began with an engaging history lesson that explained the origins of Creole and Cajun cuisine, as well as the fascinating differences between the two. Our instructor brought the city’s culinary traditions to life with passion and humor, making the experience both informative and fun. Once we moved to our stations, the real magic began. We prepared a rich and flavorful Chicken and Andouille Gumbo, followed by smoky and creamy Barbecue Shrimp and Grits—each dish bursting with authentic Louisiana flavor. For dessert, we created Bananas Foster Crêpes with vanilla ice cream, the perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal. The class was well-organized, interactive, and filled with laughter and the delicious aromas of food. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or a beginner, the New Orleans School of Cooking offers an experience that’s as inspiring as it is delicious. It’s a must-do for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the authentic taste and spirit of New Orleans.

If you are a local and are trying to learn more about the art of cooking New Orleans food this is the place to check out. The class is about $45 dollars. It is also a fun activity to go check out with a group of friends on a rainy day. I would recommend ubering down to this area of the city as parking is pretty expensive. I booked the Thursday demonstration class with Chef Michael and it was a blast. His staff was also very friendly when passing out the bowls of corn and crab bisque. Chef Michael did a great job of giving us a background of the recipes and also provided cooking tips on how to make the roux. Included in the class is a local beer (Abita). The class also provides you with a reading packet of the recipes that you can make at home. The bananas fosters was delicious. Overall, it was a great class I would recommend showing up 30 minutes, before the class starts as I got there 5 minutes before the class started and it was packed. Overall, the class was great and can’t wait to check out the other classes they have to offer.

Decided to do something different while visiting Nola and I’m glad I did. I signed up for a demo cooking class and the experience was so very educational regarding New Orleans history and the amazing food that comes with it. Chef T was the star of the show and the food was amazing. Our meal was shrimp and artichoke soup, crawfish etouffee, and pralines. I would definitely recommend this place for people who are looking to do something different and who are willing to learn about the rich history surrounding New Orleans/Louisiana.

This place is amazing. The instructor, Michael, was personable, knowledgeable, funny, and the man can cook! He shared tips and tricks to cooking authentic Louisiana cuisine and he provided a history lesson that I will never forget! We had gumbo, jambalaya and pecan pralines. This class was totally worth the time and money! Please go, if you are ever visiting NOLA!

I attended the morning hands-on class with Chef Cindy. The class was very informative and included not only how to cook New Orleans cuisine, but a great history lesson of the area and the dishes we cooked. Chef Cindy was so helpful and made the class so much fun!

Live music venue
Bar
Maple Leaf Bar is a beloved local hangout in New Orleans known for its live music, especially on Tuesday nights when the famous Rebirth Brass Band performs. The bar has an intimate and casual atmosphere, with a hopping dance floor that draws in sweaty, adoring fans. It's popular among locals, university students, and visitors alike.
Classic, old-school music hall. If you're a live music lover the shows here are always top notch. This isn't cover band territory, and some of the best musicians/bands play here regularly. Famous venue, featured in movies and TV shows. Bartenders here are awesome, and there's a nice back patio of you need to chill out for a bit.
Mark M — Google review
This place is legit. Small, intimate, authentic setting. And the music was absolute fire. Happy Organ Hour indeed! WOW! One of the few places I went on my trip to New Orleans that I would visit again.
Deborah S — Google review
I've been going to the Maple Leaf since 1993. There's nothing like it. But maybe I'm a little biased because I bartended there from '99 to '00, I met my wife there, we had our rehearsal dinner there (a crawfish boil, of course), and I even lived upstairs for a little bit.
Lucio M — Google review
Lovely bar! Thought $25 was going to be a bit of an overspend for a random off-season show but had a great time. Lovely atmosphere and the owners were very welcoming!
Zappa L — Google review
Came on a Tuesday night and was pleasantly surprised by the music and the nice vibes! $20 cover fee and they play two sets of music !
Tamar W — Google review
I went to the Maple Leaf Bar not knowing exactly what to expect, and honestly, it ended up being one of the highlights of my time in New Orleans. It’s a no-frills, down-to-earth kind of place that’s all about the music—and the music is incredible. The band that night was electric. You could feel the sound in your chest, and the whole crowd moved with it. The vibe inside was packed but friendly, and you could tell most of the people there really cared about the music, not just partying. No one was trying too hard—it felt real and local in the best way.
Miranda L — Google review
One of my primary go-to music venues, which has great music practically every night of the week, always LiveStreamed on YouTube and archived under the Live tab on their channel.
David F — Google review
A completely different venue than anything you'll experience on Bourbon St, MLB is where locals go to see great music. We saw George Porter Jr featuring Chris Adkins and Terrence Houston. Holy cow!! They absolutely knocked our socks off! And to think, the locals can see them perform just about every Monday night! Please do yourself a favor and make sure your trip to NOLA includes Monday night and go see this show. You won't regret it! Pro Tip: Get there ~15 minutes early if you'd like a seat. There are benches on the sides of the venue but other than that it's standing room only.

The Train Garden is a nostalgic architectural attraction in City Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. It features replicas of real-life trains and streetcars from the early 1900s, and is a popular tourist destination with history buffs. The Train Garden only opens on Saturdays and Sundays during Botanical Garden hours, so make sure to visit if you're in the area!
Miniature Trains! Too bad, the place is only "open" on Saturdays and Sundays. Despite the trains not being in operation, it's nice to see all the efforts that went into building the miniature replicas of the various sights from New Orleans. There are some really intricate buildings and really cute scenes setup around the main track. My favorite building was the ghastly looking St. Louis Cathedral.

Absolutely worth the trip! Trains only run on the weekend. So make sure to time your trip accordingly. Located inside the Botanical Garden
