Cafe
La Puerta Falsa Restaurant, a 200-year-old establishment located near Plaza de Bolivar, is a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. This cozy cafe has been frequented by well-known figures such as writers, actors, and ex-presidents. The menu features traditional Bogotano home-cooked meals including Ajiaco and Chocolate Completo.
It is the most famous place to have Sancochos and Tomales for a reason. It is claimed to be the oldest restaurant in Bogota to serve these culturally iconic dishes and it does not betray the expectations. Worth the wait and you will probably have to wait up to 30 minutes before you get in but I still highly recommend it. The staff is friendly and the place is cosy.
Simo C — Google review
What can I say… it was worth the wait! The food was delicious and the service was great, even though some people seemed to have their doubts :( The place is small, so a little patience is needed — but totally worth it. Great flavor!!! Highly recommended!
Art — Google review
I want to really give a shout out to the patient, friendly staff here. This place is so famous and so busy that it would be easy to be bored or irritable. But true to Colombian culture, everyone really treated me as an individual and wanted to make sure I got what I needed and had a positive experience. Wait time was around 15 min and then I was seated at the bar area. I ordered the classics, chocolate completo and the tamale. I’d describe it as good, solid comfort food (and generous portions). The tamale tasted very fresh and the chicken meat inside was still on the bone. My bill came to COL 28,000. Sat next to a woman from Bogotá who came for the tamale (an enthusiastic repeat customer) and loved the place for the food and the rich history, so it’s interesting to see that the appeal is not just for tourists.
Isaac L — Google review
Just stopped in to grab some dessert. Had the milk flan and the sweet curd. Both were good. The place fills up quickly and there are not a lot of places to sit…so get there early or be ready to wait. The service was quick.
Team T — Google review
After a city bike ride, a few of us ducked into this crowded institution — Colombia’s oldest restaurant, or so they say. Big queues, packed tables, no-frills service. You come here for tradition, not innovation. • The Chicken Soup: I’m not a soup guy, but this one? It had soul. Comforting. No bold spices, just warmth. • The Tamale: Possibly the best I’ve had in South America. Hearty, tender, wrapped in flavor. • Atmosphere: Noisy, rushed, authentic. Feels like grandma’s place, if your grandma ran a war-time kitchen. • Locals: Everywhere. Drinking coffee, tea, or grabbing a quick bite. • Scores: • Food: 8.5/10 • Atmosphere: 9/10 • Value: 7.5/10 • Worth it? Definitely — come early or wait long.
Nuwan A — Google review
This restaurant, one of the oldest in Bogota, is a must-visit for breakfast. Their tamal with hot chocolate is a must-try. For lunch, we had the Ajiaco, which was amazing. Their menu is authentic and delicious, and everything is worth trying. There’s limited seating, so there’s often a line, but tables rotate quickly, so you don’t have to wait too long. Definitely worth the wait.
Carolina B — Google review
What an unforgettable cultural experience! Located just steps away from Plaza Bolívar, El Palacio de Justicia, and La Catedral, La Puerta Falsa offers a true taste of Colombian tradition. The hot chocolate with cheese and fresh bread was absolutely delicious, comforting and rich with authentic flavor. The ajiaco was incredible, perfectly seasoned and hearty. From the warm service to the cozy, historic ambiance, everything felt like a step back in time. A must-visit spot for anyone wanting to savor the heart of Bogotá! 🇨🇴🍫🍲✨
Ricardo R — Google review
One of the oldest restaurants in this part of Bogota and well worth a visit. Would heartily recommend the ajiaco which was hearty and super tasty. Hot chocolate with cheese was a bit strange but we'll put that down to an acquired taste... Worth the wait if you can get a table.

Casa Vieja is a renowned restaurant nestled in the historic La Candelaria district of Bogota. The restaurant exudes a nostalgic charm with its rustic decor and warm ambiance, providing an inviting atmosphere for visitors. I had a great experience at Cass Vieja! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with classic décor. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered Empanada, Chicharon and soup. It was really delicious. We had the coconut and lemon drink that’s really refreshing and blends well. I highly recommend this place!

If you go do the gold museum stop by here for lunch it’s a typical little restaurant where you can experience real traditional Colombian food from Bogotá region.
P J — Google review
I came here with my Colombian friend as his go to place for Ajiaco, since it's a very well known restaurant for this typical dish. The service was fast and superficially friendly but somehow didn't feel very welcomed, it is a kind of traditional service and felt as if the waiter was a butler or something like that, I felt uncomfortable. Regarding the most important, the food; The Ajiaco soup was very very tasty, it was my first time to ever try it so I can't really compare to other places but I think it was great. On the other hand, when the bill came I was surprised at the high price of it. Yes, it's traditional and must have a special preparation method, but it is still chicken, potatoes, corn and avocado... Too expensive It was an okay overall experience but can't say that I would like to come back, even if the soup was amazing.

Very nice restaurant. Food , drinks , the atmosphere.. everything was great but especially the people who work there were very friendly.

This is a nice place with authentic feeling. Food is good but not the best. Prices are reasonable for the location.
Radim — Google review
If you want some colombian dishes, this is the place. Some local recomended me this restaurant saying that it may seems a little overpriced, but I cannot agree. It is a fancy restaurant designed like a peasants house but everything is clean and new. The food is what peaasant colombian eat. I took a peasants chicken soup (Ajiaco con pollo) for ~10usd the dish was simply huge I could even finish that up.

The best of Colombia's cousine can be found in Casa Vieja. Good service and great location in the traditional neighborhood La Candelaria.

Restaurant
Restaurante El Portico in Bogota is a must-visit for food enthusiasts, offering a diverse menu to cater to various preferences. The restaurant's sprawling, multi-room setup provides a charming ambiance for families and groups. Guests can savor tender grilled steaks and seafood prepared table-side on the sizzling indoor grill.
We entered this place at the last minute, they were already closing and they let us eat, right from the entrance gate service at this place was excellent, without leaving aside their food of course. As a starter we ordered delicious cheese empanadas, and a sangria. Main dishes we ordered charcoal-grilled trout (exquisite), pork chop cooked to perfection with passion fruit sauce. This dish was finger-licking good. And finally, the paella, which was good in taste but needed a little improvement in presentation. For dessert, something we hadn't tried and that pleasantly surprised us was their guava & cheese in a few words, “delicious” If you are in the area, give this beautiful place a chance.
Andre M — Google review
One of my favorites restaurants of all time!! The food is great, try their Fragua steak. The entire compound is great to walk around visit. It is very kid friendly with play facilities and sometimes even donkey rides!!
David C — Google review
Great typical Colombian food in a Spanish colonial architectural setup for the best possible typical dining experience. Portions are incredibly generous for a price that while a bit on the high end, is totally reasonable for the quality of the offered food. Typical Colombian dances can be seen on special events. A walk around the premises is a must after finishing your meal.
Glen T — Google review
To be completely honest, the product is not worth the price. Plates are medium to small in size while prices tend to be high. Also flavor doesn't is nothing out of the ordinary to elevate the experience and justify the price. Service is really good.
Gabriel G — Google review
After waiting for an hour, and even though the place was already pretty vacant, no waiter came to take out order, given that we had to pick up a menu ourselves. My partner ask for a glass of water that never came. The food was tasty, and surprisingly fast.
Juan P — Google review
El Portico remains a staple in Bogota’s main dining places. A 45 minute drive from our hotel, had the old bullfighting ring still around. My trout was perfectly cooked and their patacon pisado con guacamole was a delight

Restaurant
Santa Fe Restaurante is a beautiful dining spot with the ambiance of a traditional Colombian home. The menu, available in English, offers delicious dishes recommended by attentive waitstaff. Guests rave about the Carimanola, a coastal Colombian specialty made with yucca and cheese. The restaurant's elegant yet cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for special occasions or romantic evenings. Diners praise the exquisite presentation and creative culinary artistry of each dish.
An absolute gem in Bogota! The food was on par with a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Starting with their ceviche, it was absolutely fresh and fragrant. Kept us wanting more with each bite. We had the trilogía de pescados and Róbalo en Salpicón de Camarones. Each had a unique flavor that was so fresh and combined all textures into one dish; all flavors were unique, fresh, and exact! More than anything, we cannot drink alcohol so they were able to accommodate by cooking without the brandy. This brings me to their service, where they were so polite and patient! We also had the dessert which was not overly sweet, but mixed flavors so well! AMAZING EXPERIENCE THANKS TO GUILLERMO!
Mohammed M — Google review
Lovely traditional restaurant, with a varied menu with some twists. The food was nice but I would not rate it as 5 stars... but it is indeed an interesting option for a meal nice meal. The prices were high but we paid 50 usd / person (with wine included). It closes at 21h and they recommend booking ahead.

One of the best dining experiences we've had so far was after landing in Colombia. The service and food were absolutely exceptional-highly recommended!

Fine dining in a fun environment. A huge garden themed restaurant. Paola suggested the mushroom appetizer that was good. It was different, but it was good and she also suggested the tuna which was very very good.

Spectacular restaurant, amazing food. Must for high end Colombian food. I was blown away.
Jesse B — Google review
We chose this restaurant for a last dinner before leaving, after a wonderful two-week trip around Colombia. We wanted a special moment, and here at Santa Fe we truly found it. We discovered the authentic flavors of Colombian cuisine, reinterpreted in a modern way without losing the essence of tradition. Andrés made us feel very welcome and recommended a fantastic aguardiente.
Enrico M — Google review
Very nice restaurant, each dish has its own unique taste and thoughts, not a simple restaurant, appreciate the creativity and love goes behind the traditional food!!

Excellent food. The arepa was a great interpretation of their local dish and the ceviche was lovely. Unfortunately we got there just as the kitchen was shutting and they only had entrees. Still, it was worth it.

Restaurant
Colombian restaurant
El Chato is a cozy and intimate restaurant in Bogota, known for its creative dishes made with seasonal Colombian produce. The chef, Alvaro Clavijo, has honed his skills at renowned international establishments before returning home to showcase his culinary magic. The restaurant offers technique-driven plates such as squid and mushroom tartare, crabmeat and squid ink rice chips, and a unique Colombian pound cake made with coca flour.
El Chato is dining on a different level. Its frequent ranking as one of the best restaurants in the world is well-deserved. I cannot recommend it highly enough, this is a must-go if you’re into fine dining and are visiting Bogota. We opted for the tasting menu, which is served in two shifts every night. The tasting menu guests are seated on the second floor, while the a la carte restaurant is on the first floor. The design of the second floor lovely, with half of the space taken up by the open, stainless steel kitchen, and the other half taken up by the guest area, with about 6 tables. The atmosphere is intimate, and though the floor is bustling with activity from kitchen staff and servers, it doesn’t feel too busy. The 12-course tasting menu was one of the best we’ve ever had. El Chato uses almost exclusively Colombian products, and uncommon products as that (two particularly interesting dishes were the beef heart tacos and the chocolate mousse dessert with powder from coca leaves). The flavors are novel, beautifully balanced, and there isn’t a dull moment in the menu. It’s some of the best food we’ve ever had, getting close our favorite restaurant ever, De Librije. We both had the non-alcoholic pairing, which rivals some of the best pairings in Europe: homemade teas, kombuchas, cocktails, generally fitting the dishes very well. The staff were friendly enough to give us refills on some of our favorites! What’s not advertised enough by El Chato is their vegetarian tasting menu. It is put together with at least as much thought as the regular tasting menu, and is truly exceptional. Beautiful flavors, novel dishes, and incredible ingredients. Again, it’s one of the best vegetarian tasting menus we’ve ever had (topped only by Encanto in Lisbon). The service was excellent as well. Our server and the sommelier were super friendly, knowledgeable, professional yet not distant, and just lovely to interact with. The same goes for the chef and other kitchen staff we interacted with. El Chato is perfection. It produces some of the best food in the world. An absolute gem. My only recommendation to them would be that they start advertising their phenomenal vegetarian tasting menu more.
Charles C — Google review
El Chato is one of Bogotá’s culinary gems. The cuisine is outstanding, with every dish crafted to highlight fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Their cocktail list is equally impressive, especially their signature cocktail, which truly elevates the dining experience. It’s no surprise that El Chato has earned its place among the 50 Best. If I had to suggest an improvement, it would be to have a dedicated server for each table to ensure an even smoother service. That said, the team was impeccable in timing and in making us feel genuinely welcomed. I will definitely return if I come back to Bogotá — highly recommended!
Antonio F — Google review
I had high expectations going into El Chato, and it absolutely delivered. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt elevated but still relaxed — a perfect mix of fine dining and warm hospitality. The service was attentive without being overbearing. Our server was happy to explain ingredients and give pairing suggestions, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Prices are on the higher end (about COP 100,000+ per dish), but honestly, for the quality and creativity, it's worth every peso. Definitely a must-visit if you're looking for an elevated Colombian culinary experience in Bogotá.
Axel — Google review
The atmosphere is totally unique and lovely. The spices on the walls makes you get curious about each one. The service is super good, cordial, nice and with great manners. The food is totally amazing they make you lose your mind and they have interesting twists on everyday ingredients and the flavours and presentations are good. The soup made from "pepino melon" is insanely good. The only unfortunate part on my experience was an iron shaving they use to clean the pots that happened to be in my dish. They have amazing wines and great infusions.
Alice G — Google review
La comida fue deliciosa y muy rica! I don’t eat pork and they accomodate to my diet. Explanations given for each meal were clear and allow me to understand what I am eating. Excellent Colombian culinary journey
Selsabila M — Google review
Every single dish on the tasting menu was excellent! Fantastic food and the best presentation I’ve seen. The presentation of the ingredients used on the dish was exquisite. I did not enjoy the open kitchen, which I usually enjoy because it was extremely busy. It seems they were also preparing items for the a la carte part of the restaurant that is on the floor below. That made the atmosphere rushed. As we were the last seating they started washing the kitchen while we were still eating. That was not nice at all. Regardless they get the five stars from me for the impeccable everything else
C D — Google review
Wow……. I had nearly given up trying to find flavor I loved in Columbia. But this restaurant is one of the reasons I will come back. From the outside at night you would drive right past and not even bat an eye. Your visual senses are overwhelmed as soon as you walk in the door by jars of ingredients and a kitchen on display to see the passion in making the food. The wine pairings are well thought out. All of your senses will be stimulated here. Every dish just gets better than the last. I don’t know how they do it. You would be crazy to not try this place when visiting Columbia. This is one of the best food experiences I’ve had.(Period) Yes they will meet your dietary restrictions. Yes you will enjoy this food. Don’t ask just make reservations.
Logan H — Google review
Extraordinary. A restaurant experience to savour - the degustation is art, with techniques and ingredients that attest to the world class cuisine El Chato is renowned for. The reputation is well founded with the service, ambience and not least the food itself amongst the very best. This place is a Colombian institution. Bravo!

Mini Mal is a charming restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere that puts a creative spin on traditional dishes. One of its standout offerings is the Deep in the Jungle, which showcases Colombia's farm-to-table movement by featuring a signature dish paired with crunchy lemon-seasoned ants and tucupi, a paste made by an Indigenous community supported by the restaurant. Founded by Antonuela Ariza and Eduardo Martinez, Mini Mal aims to reconnect diners with Colombia's rich biodiversity through ancestral culinary techniques and practices.
We are visiting Colombia on vacation, and I came here with my partner and 2 young kids. This is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever ate at. The food was unique, and absolutely delicious! So many interesting flavours. The staff were brilliant and were very friendly, and accommodating towards our children. We will definitely be back before leave Colombia and hope to visit Colombia to come back here!!!!

When we stumbled upon Minimal we had had a day of heavy eating so we weren’t very hungry and only sampled the starters! I wish we could come back and try some of the mains! The starters were to die for, unmissable are the balls of plantain with crab filling and the plantain with octopus and mint! The flavour of each dish perfectly balanced salt, fat, acid, heat, a feast for your taste buds!

An amazing restaurant that focuses on using indigenous and Amazonian ingredients. Tons of new things I don’t get to try back home like lulo and pirarucu. Flavors were dynamic but balanced, and the presentation was so colorful. So good I came twice during my 3 day trip in Bogotá.

Took until my third visit to the city to come here and I wish it hadn't, it definitely belongs in the first tier of restaurants in Bogota. Everything I ordered was very tasty and different, service was helpful, non-alcoholic drinks were good, really couldn't ask for anything more.

Loved the ambiance and the location, the best dish was jamón de pirarucui and albóndigas de cordero. I wouldn’t get the selva adentro again it was very mid. Overall the portions are small but overall I wouldn’t come back.

Highly recommend dinner at Mini Mal. We enjoyed our chats with the server, meeting the owner and understanding the back story of the organisation. Essentially leaders in the farm-to-table movement, highlighting indigenous and flavours forgotten. Amazing interior in a house that has belonged to the family for hundred+ years. The FOOD and drinks were unbelievable! We will be back.z

If you're in Bogota and looking for a place to try the famous Colombian dish, ajiaco, then "El mejor ajiaco del mundo" is a must-visit. The restaurant offers delicious local Colombian dishes and soups, with generous portions at reasonable prices. Despite being busy, the service is quick and attentive. The hot soup with chicken is particularly recommended on cold days.
Delicious food! It was a fast service. Big portions. I was very happy I went there
Gregorio R — Google review
The food was delicious, full of flavor and big portions. Ajiaco (chicken and potato soup) is the best in the city. 100% recommended this place!
La A — Google review
After 11 days travel in peru, this is my first meal in colombia. I don’t know if it’s this restaurant or colombia food, the food here is just meh. They also charge me 10% service fee which is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. I don’t speak spanish, so I didn’t argue. No service justify the service charge at all. They bring out the food, and that’s it.
Tony Y — Google review
Our first Ajiaco and Bandeja Paisa of our trip. They were both good. The service was good too. The wait here was much shorter than next door and we left happy and full 🙂
Allan C — Google review
I don't know if it is the best in the world as it is the only one I have tasted. I can say, however, that it is really good and I enjoyed every bit of it. They are fast to serve and don't have the long queue of the restaurant next to it. Tourist prices, but that's what you will find all over the area.
Guillermo P — Google review
The ajiaco was good but not excellent. The service from the waiter was good, he was very kind. However, the lady at the cashier was dishonest and tried to make us pay extra without telling us because she wanted to pocket it for herself. This is unacceptable and I hope she isn't scamming foreigners this way also.
Diego P — Google review
Traditional dishes delicious! We got one dish for each of us and it was a lot of food, the portions are really generous! The atmosphere is nice, with music in the background and a vary kind waitress! Definitely a place to stop for a hearty meal!

No ac! Although it wasn’t a hot day, seating upstairs was a bit too hot for me. But their ajiaco was good. Lots of food for one person. What does it taste like? Chicken in potato soup with corn and some pickles for flavourz side of rice is bit salted and avocado was good.

Restaurante Dona Elvira, with origins dating back to 1934 in the Chapinero neighborhood, has expanded to two locations and is renowned for its authentic Colombian cuisine served in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu features local delicacies such as roasted pork chops cooked in cola, stuffed chicken necks, fish stew, and a mixed platter offering a comprehensive taste of the eatery's offerings. This cafeteria-style restaurant is popular among locals and professionals for its traditional Colombian comfort food dishes.
The atmosphere here is a A+. Great place to bring family, friends and foreigners to try Colombian traditional food in a more upscale-criollo atmosphere. Even though the food is well made, our family’s opinion is that you can find more tasty traditional dishes in other places such as in farmer marketplaces and other restaurants in the city. The prices are not that bad but you could be paying less for the same quality dishes in other restaurants. At this place you are paying more because of the atmosphere. The service was promptly and friendly. Definitely coming back to bring friends visiting Bogota!

My favorite food that I had in our three days in Bogotá last weekend. The meats were cooked perfectly. They were tender, juicy, and flavorful. Our juices tasted fresh. I'm so glad we chose this restaurant for our lunch.

Love it! The best place in Bogotá to try the local typical foods of the central part of Colombia. Be ready to get a huge portion on your table; some dishes are enough for 3 or 4 persons. Don't miss the chance to try the desserts, thay are also awesome!

This is in my humble opinion the best place to eat real genuine Colombian food. The choice is wide and the dishes are well cooked, the real thing!! This is a Colombian speaking therefore I vouch for the quality and taste of this food. If not a Spanish speaker, you'll find a menu in English. Awesome food!!

If you're not into fine dining, Las Cazuelas de la Abuela is a great alternative. It's a popular Colombian restaurant among locals, offering delicious food at affordable prices. The menu features traditional Colombian dishes such as ajiaco, bandeja paisa, sancocho, and cazuela de mariscos. The quality and flavor of the meals are excellent, and the service is outstanding. The prices are also very reasonable.
Incredible soups and stews at this clean, spacious and efficient eatery. The ajiaco con pollo (hearty chicken soup) will run you 20k pesos and it comes with a side of avocado, rice and aprea. Love this place!

Very affordable restaurant with almost perfect ajiaco. As i understand how many restaurants working in the Colombia - you came in, pick the table. Waiter taking you order, bring food, bill and bill would be paid at the cashier. The place - one large room, one smaller room. Open kitchen. You literally can watch how your food preparing. The does not offering any coffee options, tho.

Please avoid going there, the food is refried from the day before, the chicharron was really dry, we asked for a new one but it was the exact same thing. Lulo didn't taste anything, it was just water and no lulo. Bandeja Paisa wasn't good neither and expensive for the quality of the food. The only good thing was the patacon. I have been to Restaurante Río three times and it definitely deserves a 5-star rating. The staff is incredibly friendly and the manager is very attentive, providing recommendations and creating a great atmosphere. The food is delicious, with generous portions and amazing flavors. The location is also ideal. Another positive aspect is that they allow pets in the patio area, which is beautifully designed. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Rio is an absolute gem. The service was exceptional—attentive, warm, and perfectly executed. The food tells a beautiful story of Colombian flavors, highlighting local ingredients in a way that makes every dish a true gastronomic journey. Our server was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with spot-on recommendations that did not disappoint. The atmosphere was just right, with great music that added to the overall vibe. Whether you’re looking for a memorable dining experience or the perfect spot for a date, Rio is the place to be. Highly recommend!

This place is on another level. One of the best meals we've had anywhere, not just in Bogotá. From the salad made from the chips of local potatoes to the guava short ribs. From the black garlic tagliatelle to the tomato "tartare" this place was all hits, zero misses. Extraordinary service, great wine list, comfortable seating and a beautiful environment. We went all out and had a meal that would have cost 300 dollars in the states for the equivalent of 130 for two. Expensive, but not for what you get. Cannot possibly recommend this spot more strongly. Bravo.

Incredible food, the vibe is great. The owner/head waiter gave me some great recommendations for some drinks that were not on the menu, so be sure to ask about the specials. Highly recommend the tostada de stracciatella starter. I will definitely be coming back here before I leave bogota!

Amazing food in a lovely venue. Staff is really nice and helpful. Good veggy options.
Aurélie B — Google review
The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The light is a bit too low, making it somewhat hard to appreciate the presentation of the dishes. The service was cordial, but it took a while for us to get noticed, either when ordering or when trying to pay. The food was tasty, and quantious. The cocktails were a bit too pricy for their quality. We ordered: - Ceviche de Chicharrón: the chicharrón was still crispy, despite being submerged in the reduction of the ceviche. The reduction flavor was too strong, and overwhelmed the flavor of the pork. - Encocada de frutos de mar: the squid was delicious. Flavorful, and cooked to a very pleasant texture. The shrimps were crispy and had their own distinctive flavor, which complemented well with the rice, creamy and with coconut hints. - Merengue: hints of mint harmonized beautifully with the sourness of the soursop and the sweetness of the merengue.
Alejandro M — Google review
We heard about Rio on social media and we were tempted to try, no regrets and had an amazing experience! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, unique and made with care. Various international plates with local ingredients, and the staff made sure to provide suggestions and make sure we were okay throughout the night. The drinks were just as delicious as the meal (Shout out to the Mezcalita). Excellent spot for a date night or a special meal with friends and family.

Highly recommend it! The Rio Steak was delicious! I also had the choclo rice (corn rice), the potato chips nacho style, and the tres leches. The cocktails were really good too. Nestled in the charming La Candelaria district, this eatery offers a delightful culinary experience that showcases the city's rich flavors. One standout dish is their ajiaco, a traditional chicken-and-potato soup made with an array of colorful native potatoes sourced from 60 Nativas.

Great spot for typical Colombian food! I was lucky to find the place not too crowded, so the service was quick and friendly. Many traditional dishes were already prepared, which meant no waiting and plenty of options to choose from. They also had a dog-friendly area, which was a big plus for me. The only downside was the meat — it was a bit too fatty for my taste.

Las Margaritas is a popular restaurant in Bogotá, and has been since it first opened in 1902. The restaurant specializes in empanadas, but also offers a variety of other dishes. Today, the Margarita family continues to run the business, and patrons continue to flock to Las Margaritas for its delicious food and unique atmosphere.
The reviews are true. Great place with lots of history and most importantly good food in the Chapinero neighborhood. The empanadas are wonderful little bite sized morsels filled with potatoes and beef. Also loved the longaniza and chicharron. Well worth a stop.
Paul C — Google review
The restaurant is advertising like the best empanadas and food in town, but is false. The empanadas are ridiculously small and tasteless, little portions of food and made of poor Colombian recipes. Don't waste your money.
Leon P — Google review
This restaurant is a big SCAM!! Think twice before going, the empanadas are horrible and tasteless, a cheap limonada de agua panela costs almost 15,000 COP, the whole menu is ridiculously OVERPRICED, the place looks old and dirty…NEVER AGAIN!!

Terrific classic Colombian food. Family owned and operated in Bogota Colombia since 1905. The restaurant is in the center of the city in a neighborhood called Chopinero. When it started out it was so far out in the country it could only be reached by a wagon rd.

Loved it. Offer very authentic Colombian food including traditional dishes from Bogotá. It was delicious, staff was friendly and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended
Jose M — Google review
This is a traditional restaurant in the heart of Chapinero. This place has been preserved as it use to be since 1902. Their "empanadas" are outstanding. "Ajiaco" is also one of the dishes that has been the original recipe. But there are lots of options in their menu such as tongue, Sobrebarriga, Chicharrón, "Puchero Santafereño"
Maria F — Google review
Las Margaritas gained reputation as a 100 year restaurant and from time to time seeks some contest to position itself as "the best [something]". Yet, the casual visit any other weekend yields very disappointing results. If you're looking for ajiaco this is not a good place for it. The size of the dish is nothing compared to well-known competitors at the Bolívar Square, such as" La Puerta Falsa" which was established around the 1810's. Las margaritas is also known for its empanadas, yet the size, cooking and pricing are nothing of compared to most empanadas available on the streets of the city.

La Esquina de Mary - El Buen Sabor del Pacífico is a must-visit spot known for its delicious and unique dishes. The coconut fish soup, rompe colchon (mattress breaker), is a popular choice, although it tends to sell out quickly. The restaurant's braised fish is highly recommended and has been described as the best in Colombia. It's advisable to visit during the week and arrive early to avoid long wait times.
First time eating Cazuela de mariscos / " shrimps / sea food soup" and it's been the best one I've ever had . It has shrimp 🍤🦐, octopus 🦑, fish , mussels and so on. After watching the Netflix episode of street food, I ventured all the way here to try Mary’s famous romp Colchon, a coconut fish soup served with coconut rice, smashed plantains and a slice of avocado for 28,000. The portion was huge and the taste was not bad. Nice coconut flavour but the fish tasted dry and bland. Quick service eating in the bustling market.

I went to this place because I watch it in a documentary in netflix. Well it was spectacular, I would say is the best braised fish I have ever had. Highly recommended, service is awesome too you get more of what you pay for. We had several plates and everything was out of this world I literally felt that I was in the Pacific side of Colombia. If you go there try to go early before noon and during the week. Do not go during the weeknd because you are gonna have to wait up to 3 hours but it's worth it! The logistics are very disorganized but it's not the restaurants fault, it's because it's located in a market. Everything was served with coconut rice, tostones, salad and fish broth.
Jonnathan D — Google review

One of the best meals I had in Colombia. The staff were so friendly, the service fast, and the food was delicious. The Cazeuala de Mariscos was my favorite. We also got a side of patacones with hogao that was really nice. The platters also came with a jug of Agua panela with limón that was refillable, a nice surprise. The atmosphere was great, the kitchen is in full view of all the seating and it looked like everyone was friendly and having fun back there. Super pleasant, kind people. The best part was it came out to less than $10 USD per person. We ordered 4 entrees for the 5 of us, and we thought we wouldn’t finish it all because it was so much food, but it was so delicious we couldn’t help but finish it.

(Translated by Google) My experience in the restaurants in Plaza de la Perseverancia was quite negative. The food was not supplied adequately, some dishes arrived cold and others incomplete. Furthermore, the flavor left much to be desired, with a lack of seasoning and poor preparation. The disarray in service was evident, the staff seemed overwhelmed and unorganized, resulting in a long wait and poor service. I definitely expected a lot more from this place.

(Translated by Google) Seafood rice would have been better for me and I don't know how to make rice. Horrible, it didn't taste like anything, I thought I had covid but no, they just put water, shrimp and rice. Better to avoid the hassle of eating here. (Original) El arroz marinero me hubiera quedado mejor a mí y no sé hacer arroz. Horrible, no sabía a nada, llegué a pensar que tenía covid pero no, simplemente pusieron agua, camarones y arroz. (Translated by Google) Appalling. Very bad attention. The dishes we ordered were small and salty. One of the trout was practically raw. What was a "marinade sauce" turned out to be 6 shrimp in a fairly liquid sauce based on pasta or tomato sauce. They did not bring the accompaniments that they mentioned with the dish or a glass of water that I ordered as a drink. They had no problem charging the average price of a dish in the plaza, taking into account that the quality and flavor are not even close to other stalls in the place. It is worth going to the square, by no means to that restaurant. They should make room for a better service and quality offering taking into account the number of people who visit them.

(Translated by Google) It's incredible what I saw, a portion of sausage fell to the floor on the floor, the waitress picked it up and put it in the pot with the others, it's a shame that they play with the health of the family, we didn't want to go to ovens or At creps we wanted to return to the market square to support lesser-known restaurants but look, the squares definitely do not handle food handling, it would not be sad that they themselves harm their customers.

(Translated by Google) Lousy. Small trout with a horrible liquid that was supposedly garlic. Additionally, a small, pale ajiaco that was more of a dad's mazacote. And the price as if we were in Cartagena. (Original) Malísimo. Trucha pequeña con un líquido horrible que supuestamente era ajillo. Colombian restaurant
Patacones Food and Gallery, located in the Plaza Central shopping center, is a must-visit for lovers of Colombian street food. Their specialty is the patacon con todo, a dish with various delicious variations. Before diving into this popular dish, start your culinary journey with their canasticas de chicharrones BBQ - deep-fried plantain cups filled with flavorful chicharron chunks smothered in barbecue sauce and topped with cilantro.

(Translated by Google) I went on a Saturday so the square was full, but we soon found a table, I ordered a simple hamburger, it comes with patacones on both sides, a good portion of meat, low in salt, but delicious, fried egg. It comes with fries and a 9 or 12 ounce drink or so. For those who like patacón, this place is highly recommended with this product, and excellent prices, as at that time it cost me $19,900 COP (Original) Fuí un sábado por ende la plazoleta estaba llena, pero pronto encontramos mesa, pedí hamburguesa sencilla, viene con patacones ambas caras, buena porción de carne, baja en sal, pero rica, huevo frito. Para los que les gusta el patacón este lugar es súper recomendado con este producto, y excelentes precio, a mi el como en ese momento me costo $ 19.900 COP

(Translated by Google) The place is called "Don patacón" and is located on the 3rd floor of the Plaza Central shopping center, in the food court. If I had to define the flavor in one word it would be delicious. They receive card and cash. They have a variety of menus, with sweet or salt plantains. The trays are very complete and balanced. The one I chose had a colicero soup with chicken and ribs, very delicious. The main course was rice, discarded chicken on sweet plantain, guacamole and drowned, fantastic. It comes with natural lemonade, which for me, is perfect. Fair portions for the price, which does not exceed $20,000 per person, including everything you see in the photo. I would return without a doubt. To improve, the young man who serves is very serious, somewhat curt, but nothing more.

Café de Homero, also known as Chibcha Homero, is a charming and historic spot nestled in the heart of Bogotá. This humble café is not just a place to grab a bite; it’s steeped in local culture and tradition. The café owner, Homero, is renowned for his engaging conversations and passion for music, often sharing tunes from his extensive cassette collection.
