Food was ok, but one individual member of the team was just damn right rude. However, it was nice to have a meal without kids running around. More pubs need to adopt the over 18s only policy.

I usually love going here for a meal but since the old manager and staff left it seems to have gone down. There used to be a lovely, cosy atmosphere which was missing. The staff were just doing their job without any feeling from me of caring for the customers. The food was okay but not like it used to be. Sad because this was such a lovely place to come.

*Heads up children are not allowed at this pub* Lots potential but was let down by the food. Lovely pub the food was only ok. Staff were friendly but once the pub got busy it seemed they were short staffed. We had fish and chips and the salt beef burger. The fish was a little greasy, bread was a bit stale and the burger was only ok. Overall experience was average but we won't be heading back anytime soon. Good selection of cask and draft ales though

We went in for some food and found it to be really lovely. The staff are very friendly and they even took some of our flyers for us, which resulted in some bookings for our dog grooming service, which was very kind of them. What a great pub with such a community feel. 💙

I went 9 October 2025 lunchtime with two friends. I had your salad with chicken! I've been so ill in the night time with chronic tummy pains and I didn't eat anything the rest of day. I also had the rewards app but the women behind the bar was clueless! We had to wait along time as there was only one chef on. Other people were complaining as well. Will not be coming back again just not good! I don't eat out much but this has put me right off!🤮🤢

Amazing service and was seated straight away. Ordered our food via the app which was so easy to use and a great selection of food and drinks. Our drinks arrived promptly and our food was not long after. The food arrived fresh and pipping hot and was very tasteful. Thank you for your hospitality and we will back for a visit very soon.

Nice atmosphere. Got drinks and ordered food from a beaded guy at the bar. Lovely lad, all good. We were doing the Thursday 2 for 1 burgers. The 2 burgers come and one is cooked perfect the other is very obviously burnt. Bun and patty. I take it back to the bar where there’s an older blonde lady with glasses. I politely say sorry to be that guy but could we get a redo on this burger it’s definitely burnt. Without even looking at me properly she sluggishly says ‘yea sure’. She comes back to the table 2 mins later with the exact same burger and says they’ve done it again for me but it looks the same because it’s ’flame grilled’. At this point im still polite and with the two burgers on the table i say ‘yes but flamed grilled doesn’t mean it should be burnt, you can see the other burger that we have here is perfect compared to the burnt one. She looks at them both and just genuinely doesn’t care and says no it’s flamed grilled so it’ll always look like that. At this point she’s basically already walking away and keen to dismiss us says ‘is that all good?’ At this point I know Im talking to someone who doesn’t care and face either making a bit of a scene in front of my partner or just saying okay keeping everyone relaxed. I say ‘okay’ and the night was fine, it’s not that deep it’s just frustrating. We had one burnt burger which was just easily avoidable. I’ve still given 4 stars because I know that lady doesn’t do the place itself justice. She was dismissive, rude and just wrong about the burger. I know it’s just a job, we all get by and do what we have to do but have a little pride in the work you do surely. I just took a pick of both the burger buns side by side to show the normal vs the burnt burger. Normal on left vs burnt right. You be the judge. I should have taken a pic of the patties but just wasn’t that bothered. Would go back obviously, good little pub. Up the Rovers!

Great pub with friendly staff and good range of food and drinks. Popular with families and groups for meals and celebrations. Enjoyable for a quiet pint midweek and lively atmosphere at weekends with DJ and regular quality live music. Weekly quiz on a Wednesday is a fun challenge. Plenty of space inside and out. Pool table and darts boards always popular. Busy on match days (next to Tranmere Rovers) but service efficient pre and post games with away supporters welcome. All in all a great pub.

Booked for Father’s Day, after previously visiting on Mother’s Day and the Staff member serving was really helpful regarding allergies and food preferences (vegan). This time was awful, staff member was rude, wouldn’t accommodate a vegan roast dinner for the children with us and giving us latter mate options that then turned out to not be vegan. Not a place to visit if you have any allergies, intolerances or preferences. The option offered to young children was a soggy mushroom tart on an adult roast dinner. A like it or lump it attitude so we left and moved on elsewhere. Funnily enough another branch of the same pub that were more than happy to accommodate the changes.

Myself and the better half called in for some grub as we have not been to the Clipper for a long time and unfortunately won't be going back. The pub itself is great and very clean, but the food which we ordered through the app was not great. Firstly we ordered a starter to come with the main meals as there is a specific box to check on the app. Low and behold it came 15 mins earlier than the mains. When the mains did arrive the chicken was like rubber, i,m guessing been microwaved to within an inch of it,s life and still lukewarm and the wife,s scampi was tasteless. All in all a very disappointing experience as the pub wasn't busy. Not that it should make any difference if it's busy or not as the quality should be there all the time. When you are paying a decent amount for food you would expect it to be hot and tasty at least.

Brilliant venue, with fantastic options for both food & drinks. Lively atmosphere, especially during the weekends! Very friendly atmosphere, especially from the staff! A usual haunt for me, especially with the weekly quiz on a Wednesday night hosted by DJ Pops! Definitely recommend a visit if you’re ever in the area for a Tranmere game or for any other reason for that matter! 😁

Came tonight as a table of 14. We had a tab open so when I approached the bar the lady behind it (blonde hair) had a sour face, she wasn't afraid to hide it either. She made me feel like she couldn't be bothered, really unwelcoming and unfriendly. Definitely not the first face you want to see. We ordered our food and had to wait a while, when it came my sons boneless chicken was hard as a rock, they were black and completely burnt. I should have sent them back but we'd waited long enough and my son was hungry. The same blonde lady came out with the food looking so miserable and full of attitude. We were then told we had to leave for 8 as we had children, which I get but we'd not long finished eating by that time. I won't be back in a hurry, the food was rubbish if I could give no stars I would, service was shocking and that blonde lady needs to learn to leave her attitude at the door or have some lessons in customer service!!

I've been to this venue several times. It's well run, and the staff are friendly. Generally the atmosphere is pretty good, but we picked a bad night to attend as the live band wasn't really to my taste. They were pretty good at what they did, but we decided to leave with the hope of returning when there's an act I'd prefer.

Quirky rock club on an industrial estate in Birkenhead. Great atmosphere with some fantastic tribute bands on almost a weekly basis. Great choice of beers and hot food available.

Wanted to pop in for a pint and a look around as I hadn't been in before. Would be interested in coming again to see a band or on a night out.

Music lovers and lovers of good food too are well catered for at this great venue. Thursday night open mic night was a revelation and all contributing musicians were warmly greeted by an appreciative audience and most lived up to expectations. The organisers have got this well organised and balanced , not an easy trick to pull off . The house band gave Stirling performances too and were helpful to those who just wanted to have a go. Weekends give you chance to see and hear quality bands at their best , a bigger stage is however needed I feel. Food excellent and competitively priced . All together a great experience .

The Bow Legged Beagle Upton: A Truly Cracking Spot for a Pint Proper little gem, this place! The Bow Legged Beagle in Upton is just the ticket if you're after somewhere genuinely cosy with a cracking atmosphere. It's got that lovely, welcoming feel as soon as you walk in, making it super easy to relax and settle in. For us real ale fans, it's a bit of a paradise. They've always got a constantly changing line-up of real ales on, which is brilliant because there's always something new to try. And the best part? The real ale is always really reasonably priced, which is a breath of fresh air these days! And if craft beer is more your thing, you're still well looked after. They've got an extensive collection on tap, plus a fridge packed with cans and bottles. Whatever you fancy, chances are they've got it. Service here is spot on too. The staff are genuinely friendly and really know their stuff when it comes to the beers they're serving. Happy to chat and give recommendations if you're not sure what to go for. Honestly, if you're in Upton and fancy a top-notch pint in a relaxed and friendly setting, you really can't go wrong with The Bow Legged Beagle. Highly recommend!

I really like this place. It's a simple, no frills watering hole. Real ales and bitters that are regularly changed to provide variety. They know their stuff and clearly take pride in what they do.

Great micropub in Upton village. Four rotating cask lines and 8 keg lines, 7 rotating, means a great selection of beers, some local, whenever you visit. Owners and staff are friendly and chatty.

Beer list as far as the eye can see, huge choice constantly changing. Nice atmosphere, background music but not too loud.. plus plenty of other drinks if beer not your tipple, wines and gins. Nice little place to drop in at Upton to compliment the other branch in Wallasey.

The statues are amazing on the water front vendors singing Beatles tunes and lots of people all hanging out kids on the docs with skateboards looking at ships in the river some of them restaurants that u can board and have brunch on the river meeting people from other countries just very nice relaxing looking at the architecture and ships in the harbor plenty of shops and restaurants

A very popular tourist destination for Liverpool, right on the door step of the Mersey ferry port. A very recommended journey for those who want to say they ferried across the Mersey. Just as a note the boat also does a brief tour so staying on the boat to get off at the original start point is an option as well as visiting the Beatles statue. The statue will be crowded for photo ops and visitors do show a good sense of queuing etiquette and time share for photos being taken with the boys. As a bonus for those of a certain era, there is also a Billy Fury statue at the some dock

Liverpool was overall the most amazing place and 99% of the people we spoke to or encountered were so friendly, happy and helpful some with great stories. The waterfront and the docks have so much to offer with the Merseyside ferry, shops at the dock, an amphibious vehicle tour, Liverpool building tour, beatles shop and cafe, a gorgeous boat called "Daffodil" to have food which was really lovely, a Liverpool museum, Tate gallery all in the space of under a mile. We will be moving to Liverpool in the future. And for me the most amazing place that I cant explain how good and emotional was ANFIELD omg 😍 what can I say im speechless. The tour and museum were soooo good and the people there were such gracious, funny, friendly humans 😄 thank you xxx

A beautiful statue of the fab four. Near the cruise ship terminal so sometimes a crowd. Have to pay to park, so getting there might be the hardest part..

Always love walking around the waterfront. Took the drone out to see the galleon on Canning dock & see the views from the Liver birds.

I have two things to say! First, it's my dad's favourite attraction when he arrives in Liverpool. Second, it's a very good spot where you can take good photos with a crazy background!

It was my first time visiting the Alchemist, I was blown away the cocktails are absolutely mesmerising and outstanding! Its expensive but totally worth it the atmosphere was great, music was great, the staff are lovely and friendly, also want to give a special mention to Ben he was our server and he was so nice and even made me a few drinks off the hand after mentioning colours types of alcohol i like extra, hes a top bloke i hope someone lets him see this please we promised to leave him a review, hes really good at his job and makes amazing cocktails, I will definitely be returning for sure! Highly recommend even just to experience it.

I recently had a fantastic meal that really hit the spot! The food was exceptional, with everything from the spicy chicken to the truffle gravy standing out for their flavour and presentation. Our server was incredibly friendly and made sure we felt looked after throughout our visit. The atmosphere was nice, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy good company, though the drinks could use a little improvement. Overall, I left feeling satisfied and can't wait to come back for more!

Popped in for a quick dinner and the atmosphere and food was great. We had lollipop prawns and squid to start which were both perfectly cooked and then tempura fish and the chicken basket for mains. Everything was great and very good value for money. Out waitress Kate was also perfectly attentive and friendly. Will definitely pop back next time I am in the area.

The Railway didn't live up to the great reviews for us, but we probably visited at the wrong time. Value for money was excellent; I couldn't fault the prices, but by dinner time on a Monday, they'd run out of a lot of the menu, which was fine. Went for my third choice which was salt and pepper chips, and it was just okay. It didn't really have a whole lot of flavour without being drowned in the sweet chilli sauce. Service was fine; it was really quick, but not particularly warm or hospitable. The staff seemed like they didn't really want to be there, to be honest. I understand Mondays might be slow, but we felt quite let down by this place after reading such good reviews. I wouldn't go here again outside of a weekend.

A really lovely Victorian pub just in the city centre. The food was excellent and complimented by friendly and welcoming staff. It's definitely worth a visit if you like a proper old pub with great food and service. Would be more than happy to return.

Visited at lunch time on a Monday, so I would say it was relatively quiet, so we could absorb more of this typical Victorian pub, with different rooms and a beautiful old pub feel to the place. The food was nice but the Moo & Blue Pie was AMAZING! Would return for that only. Loved it.

Paulicarus spotted this Cask Marque pub after a failed visit to the Crown Hotel. ( not one of 7 hand pumps had real ale!). A super find. Shaslic bought me a pint of Bradfield blond. One of 3 real ales available. Lovely interior with nooks and crannues and a lovely ceiling. Food looked good.They do Sunday roasts.

Booked a table for 5.30pm, there wasn't actually a reserved table so were told to sit anywhere which was fine. Place was very quiet when we ordered our food but it took 35-40minutes for it to arrive. Food was decent, standard pub food but good nonetheless. It was a bit unpleasant people smoking right outside the open door so the smell waffed in, in future would pick a table way far away from the doors. Husband had chicken burger with katsu curry sauce on his chips, 8/10. I had the maccaroni and cheese with added chicken, was a bit suprised the chicken was just put on top and not cooked with the dish but it tasted alight 7/10.

Came in tonight and was served by Nina. She was so friendly and really attentive. Went above and beyond for us despite being run off her feet. Fantastic turn around from the place it was a year ago. Will definitely be back soon for a Sunday roast.

There was an issue last night with the quiz man being extremely unprofessional, screaming and shouting across the place but was handled very professionally by the owners. I am local to the Nelson and avoided if for almost 2 years as the service, atmosphere, food, drinks where the worst in Wallasey. We arrived today October 2025 and its changed so much. Service was amazing. So good with the kids. Food was cooked amazingly The atmosphere was a mix of family friendly and spots. The drinks are still mid but am assuming that's because green king choose the ale aka cheap crap they can sell at high margins. 100% coming for Sunday dinner. Well done to the new manging staff you have transformed this pub.

Always been to the quiz over the past two years been absolutely brilliant until the new landlords came in the landlady would make every effort but the landlord needs to think how he behaves while shouting across from the till to paying customers. And also no one touched the blow up zombie it got turned off at the wall. Also check any food you buy as we ended up having raw chicken wings

Extremely unprofessional landlord. Have gone here for a number of weeks for the weekly quiz, unfortunately since the new landlords took over the this hasn't gone to plan. Initially all was fine, with the female landlady being kind and accomodating, however the other manager seemed to have the idea that having 40+ consistent patrons who're each buying multiple drinks/ meals is unprofitable. This has culminated in an extremely childish outburst from the landlord resulting in the quiz being called off. Needless to say we won't be returning.

Lovely place with character and really clean. Excellent beers and bar service. Food has gone down hill a bit. Low point was a crumble tart that appeared to have been microwaved from frozen and had bendy soft pastry and mushy crumble, though it tasted ok. Food service was slow, given the very small number of diners. I hope the place picks back up as it was a favourite.

Trendy type of a pub buzzing with people from all walks of life. One disappointment was the loop music. The bar staff were very efficient and pleasant. Would recommend.

The Baltic Fleet is an impressive grade ll listed flat iron shaped building. There is a wide choice of beers lager and cider including some very nice hand pulled cask conditioned real ales, the ones i sampled were in excellent condition. The pub has a modern contemporary look. There is plenty of covered outside seating. My big complaint is that the pub is card only ! I have never before been in a pub that doesn't accept cash. I usually only carry cash, it was only by chance i had a card with me so I was able to get a drink. The card only policy will put me off visiting again.

Great pub just outside all the usual tourist trap joints - worth taking the 20 min walk to sample a decent scouse boozer. Plenty of reasonable beers to sample and has good seating options, particularly upstairs where there is a selection of board games. Some of the staff may need to work on their customer facing skills but it was busy so I may be expecting too much

Traditional but unique pub as a stand-alone building in the Albert Dock area or really closer to the Baltic Triangle neighborhood. A bit weathered on the outside but the interior was cozy, which is just what I needed with the wind whipping as I walked to the hostel nearby. Tons of draft options and four cask handles. Crowd was a good mix and it was busy for a Saturday night but not overcrowded. Nice.

My favourite Liverpool pub so far. Away from conference area. Good beer and service. Can get very busy but usually be able to find a spot. Upstairs and outside seating. Gents toilets "unusual".

Often come here when we've been walking from Aigburth down the waterfront to the Albert Dock. It's just on the right as you come out of the dock. It's just a small walk on the other side of the dock road dual carriageway. I believe its now a Grade 2 listed building. It has quite a history going back to the nineteenth century and has a very unusual triangular construction. Haven't tried the food in here recently so can't comment on that but they usually have a great choice of real ales and beers.

Tucked away in a side street, this restaurant is a little hidden gem. They have a ton of wines to choose from as the name suggests, and the servers are more than happy to help you pick. The real star for us was the food, the steak frites were done perfectly with amazing peppercorn sauce. They also do a delicious Scouse! I’d definitely recommend this place for a nice and quiet evening out.

I've walked by this gorgeous wine bar before and always wanted to try it out, and yesterday was my chance! Whilst waiting to collect my French passport upstairs, I entered this stunning space and cozy atmosphere, and made my way to the bar. I ordered a large Malbec and noticed signs for bar nibbles - I asked the bartender (owner?) for some olives and he mentioned a full menu. Now I am allergic to so much, so didn't really have any high hopes - and the first app he suggested was a gluten-free, vegan courgette baji... PERFECTION! I was so happy to relax and sit by the window watching the world go by. This is definitely one of those Liverpool hidden gems that makes life here so wonderful.

Me and my wife have just had our reception here after our wedding. The food was amazing. The service was brilliant. We couldn't asked for more. The owners Jordan and Nicky are a pleasure to work with and do everything needed for a fantastic wedding or party at their venue. Nothing is too much for the staff. Absolutely 10 out of 10 service.

Excellent food and good service. Very quiet Today on a Friday lunch time but It was very hot today. Absolute gem! Quaint spot for a good lunch or a nice beverage 🍸 Highly recommended the Steak Frites (update - got the same again and it was fantastic again!) 👌 Apparently, they also have an excellent quiz night 🌙

Fabulous experience. What a find though first table. Food was excellent. We shared courgette bhagis in a mago chutney sauce- out of this world. We both ordered the steak frites; a 6oz rump steak with garlic fries and peppercorn sauce. We shared the Eton Mess to finish. Food was exceptional. My wife is coeliac and she was delighted with the options available. Service was also excellent. We both said the best meal we have had in a very long time. Superb value for money!

Unbelievable place for a quiet drink or a party. Had a wine tasting booked but enquired about the room upstairs. Turns out I could hire the whole place for my engagement party. The staff were fantastic, learnt so much about regional and international wines. Thank you to Jordan and the team for all the help. See you next year for the engagement party. Great pub. Plenty of big tv's to watch the sport and plenty of pool tables to spend time playing on. Another plus was the live music on the stage as you enter. We all enjoyed our time in McCooley's and would definitely recommend a visit

It was a great night out! It is an amazing place to have a drink whilst listening to live music! The atmosphere was cheerful as there was a football game going on and it allowed us to experience the true spirit of Liverpool. Thanks!

Great place, friendly staff, affordable drinks! Came for a pre-game afternoon pint and enjoyed the atmosphere and live music. Been here on one other occasion later in the day and it was packed, but loads of space upstairs so there's no issue getting a seat. Will be back as soon as I get a chance!

Food was brilliant, staff Lovely Went into watch a match said be on upstairs with volume, it was but chap singing downstairs couldn't hear it. Singing????

Had breakfast here and it was great 👍 The pub is huge so lots of space available. Good music playing and ample TV screens spread around.

Edit added 8 Oct 2025 Travelled back to Liverpool and brought an Irish friend to enjoy what had been a great spice bag but what we got this time was disappointing. Chips and chicken were good but this time it was really lacking in spice or flavour. The veg as well was horrendous - it tasted like it had been reheated several times or just overcooked, it was slimy, flavoueless, and to be honest, stomach churning. Thankfully we only ordered one bag to share between us (cause they're massive), but in the end we left half it behind because it wasn't even worth the calorie intake. Would be reluctant to stand by my former review or to recommend again. Two of the core components of a proper spice bag is spice (chilli), and fresh veg (garlic, onion, peppers) were missing, but hopefully it's an easy one to fix. ---- Hands down the best spice bag I've had outside of Ireland – and I don't say that lightly as a spice bag "connoisseur"/Dub who's been eating them for over a decade 😝 Once you get past the initial hit of that star anisey five spice flavour, it’s pretty close to what you'll get back home. Decent chicken, proper chips, and the curry sauce? Pretty sure it’s McDonnell's or a very very good dupe. Pure taste of home. Juicy. A hint of sweetness. Almost perfection! Only knock (if I’m being picky) – I asked for extra chilli and it still wasn’t really that spicy. Mild if anything. I like my spice bags with a kick, and maybe a little more veg (onion, garlic, fresh chilli) 🔥 but still a solid 9.5/10. If you're Irish and living in Liverpool, a Manc based blow-in like me visiting, or just a spice bag enthusiast, this place is worth a visit.

We came here for bottomless brunch as a hen party and we had a great time. Our server Jess was brilliant and really accommodating, she even took some group photos for us to remember the day. The food was tasty and good sized portions. A great place for gatherings!

Superb pub for watching sports. Popped in to watch the Merseyside Derby. As i was drinking Guinness,i was able to play a wheel of fortune type game with a chance of winning Guinness merchandise. I won a t-shirt ,which was a brucie bonus. Overall an excellent afternoon out on the lash

Bottomless brunch for £25. Kelly was amazing and on top of the service. She was very friendly and chatty and made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. Fantastic 90 minutes with friends before they leave again for university. Kelly made an effort to ensure we always had drinks and were enjoying ourselves. The drinks were strong and tasted great. Cannot recommend enough.

We were served by the lovely, attentive Josephine on a bottomless brunch, who dived right in when we needed a replinishment of drinks. Without being pushy, she was the perfect hostess for the bottomless brunch, drinks, cocktails spot on, with plenty of food. This is a place we will come again

We attended the hope and Anchor for a large hen party booking on Saturday. From the moment we booked to the moment we left they couldn't do enough for us. They were fantastic. We preordered our meals and they came out hot and was really good portions compared to other bottomless brunches I have been too and all 28 guests said their food was delicious. Such a good drinks menu and the staff came round regularly to take new orders. The atmosphere was also great! A special mention to Jess, Josephine, Nicole and Luke who were fantastic! I would 100% recommend and cant wait to return. Thank you so much guys!

Absolutely unbelievable. I rarely write reviews, let alone good reviews. But this place is outstanding. Perfect service and nice atmosphere, not at all pretentious and extremely inviting. The food is next level. Beef shin ragu is a dream and the lasagne bites restored my faith in humanity. The polenta fries gave me hope of a better future. Nice staff, great drinks and also very well priced. Couldn't recommend this place any more. Sincerely, your reliable neighbourhood foodie.

Our friends have been talking about the vegan Cacio e Pepe Butter Beans for years and we eventually got to try them and they did not disappoint! All the food we had was spot on and very vegan friendly. Will definitely be back.

Excellent restaurant hidden off the main street but well worth finding. The inside is well set out and tastefully done, with a small restaurant area as you walk in next to a quick service bar eating area, and a larger restaurant through the other side beyond the kitchen. The outside is amazing and would be fab in the warmer months but with a few heaters and large canopies it would be great all year round. We sat in the bar area and had delicious pizza and drinks. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was amazing. Definitely worth eating here.

We held our wedding reception at Buyers in September and it was perfect! Ella, Mel and the team were amazing and helped us plan every detail from welcome drinks to speeches outside and a beautiful three course meal (some of our guests said it was the best wedding food they’d ever had). We also chose some lovely wine from R&H and paired it with the food in advance of the day. On the day, everything ran smoothly and was meticulously organised, the florist was able to come in and do the arrangements, the food came out piping hot (no mean feat for 50 people) and the DJ could set up without issue. The cocktails and drinks were amazing and our guests had a brilliant time. It felt like the whole Buyers team were our pals who were part of the wedding (and put up with us even when we stayed dancing until closing). Came by for a late lunch on a recommendation. You MUST order the Cacio e Pepe butter beans. (But share as a starter as massive!) had a pizza which was really good. Excellent service from Nicole overall particularly when she let me know service was already in optimal on the receipt when I said to add a tenner.

Wonderful dinner spot to go to if visiting Liverpool or looking for a good date spot. The pasta and pizza were delicious! The staff were friendly and tentative as well.

Would NOT recommend. We got the beef shin and nduja pasta. The beef shin pasta was tiny (a lot smaller than the ndjua pasta), the pasta itself was too thick and the sauce was average at best. Really disappointing for £18 and the most expensive pasta. The nduja pasta had a crumb on top which had an over powering liquorice taste. The pasta was very unpleasant. Overall way too overpriced for very below average food. I feel royally mugged off. I was genuinely really looking forward to the meal. Will not recommend to anyone.

Came here for food at tea time. Food was fine for what you pay for it. £60 for two adults, one child and one toddler, mains and dessert and soft drinks, so can't really complain at that. The desserts were very good however the wait for both food and dessert was far too long. Place is dated and tired looking but that's made up by friendly staff. Ive marked the place down because of the wait and tired decor but i would visit again if in the area.

Shout out to Elisha and Jess who were front of house in the restaurant last night. Lovely girls. Typical pub grub in line eith Greene Kings usual menu, reasonably priced and not too long to wait. Even got a bag so we could take home what we couldn't finish. Ideally placed for pre theatre dining if you're visiting the Gladstone theatre too

What a lovely little pub! Had our dinner here yesterday, both on the steak, and it was beautiful! And we were well looked after by our servers, David and a lady with dark hair! Would definitely come just for the nice atmosphere! 5 stars!!!

Decent chain pub in the middle of port sunlight. Could be better, beer offers are fine and relatively inexpensive, food is really quite cheap and standard pub grub, inside is a little tired just as you'd expect. Not bad, great on a good day sat out front.

The food was fantastic. Well worth the money. Stopped there room was average, hope you don't need a quick shower. Food was great but last meal was rubbing, I only ate it because I waited over an hour. I will not be eating there again, which is a shame

Okay, so firstly let me say, I wanted to love this place! The setting is beautiful, the building looks beautiful and the potential this place has is almost limitless but to be totally honest, I feel like Greene King have slapped just enough effort on this one to charge people. Due to a little issue with our first room we were moved to a second room and honest both were huge! The decor and level of finish left a lot to be desired which is disappointing because it could easily be stunning! It's not just the little things like threadbare carpet, half hung curtains and horrendous bathroom paint jobs and don't even get me started on the shower (do you remember those plastic things that you attached to the taps? Yeah, that would have been an improvement!) The beautiful original windows are rotted to the point of being able to see daylight clearly! Don't worry, there is new internal glazed panels to protect you from the weather but how long the building will last with that kind of neglect is an issue and a shame! This place needs investment and it needs it badly. We visited the bar a couple of times and the restaurant once. The food is what you'd expect from that kind of chain, not the best but standard pub grub. We had planned on a few cocktails with dinner but as they were on offer most were "unavailable" despite being able to see all ingredients behind the bar! The absolute saving grace for this place was the staff and in particular the sunshine incarnate that was Nikki! What an absolute star! Nikki greeted us with what I'm sure is just her regular infectious cheer every time we passed her! She was there for anything we needed with a huge smile on her face and honestly without her our stay could easily have gone the other way.

The Bridge Inn is a lovely hotel set in a listed building in the village of Port Sunlight. The food in the restaurant as well as in the breakfast room is top-notch and the service provided by the staff is excellent. Sean and Amy in particular were amazing and made my stay very comfortable. Port Sunlight is also only a few stops on the train away from Liverpool and is a beautiful as well as convenient location.

Cosy, relaxed atmosphere with a touch of Parisian charm. The cocktails are excellent, and the cheese boards are a highlight, especially the green pistachio cheese. We ended up here by chance while looking for cocktail bars and it turned out to be our favourite of the night. Staff are welcoming and make you feel right at home. Could very easily comfortably sit here for hours and be looked after

So lucky to have found this venue, after 2 months in France, we fell in love with this place. Starting with a red wine & cheese plate mid afternoon, the venue had a gorgeous moody feel about it that enveloped you & eased you into the evening. Fabulous wine recommendation & cheese selection. We left but returned late the following day to a transformed swooning jazz bar & had the best espresso martini we’ve ever had, & another cheese plate. Again, we were lucky to be well looked after by staff & will remain a fond memory. Highly recommend.

We found this place quite by accident on our way to a gig and what a find it was! It's like a little bit of France in Liverpool - just magnifique! Everything was perfect from the wine list to the cocktails and the service. The staff were charming - they remembered us and welcomed us back when we popped in for a nightcap after the concert. Inside it's all cosy and intimate - there was even a jazz trio earlier on in the evening. Whatever you do, don't miss the spicy marg - it's in a league of it's own!

Really nice atmosphere, the staff are so friendly, Alan on a Sunday night has an amazing voice and full of humor. The food is decent and it's not full of cretins like some places, it has a real chilled wind down vibe.

Stumbled upon this gem a few years ago when visiting the Arts Club, and it's now a go to when I am in the area. As the name suggests, it's like a little bit of France close to Liverpool's Chinatown. Great selection of wine, and both classic and original cocktails. Friendly staff offering a warm welcome and perfect recommendations. Lovely cosy decor and atmosphere. The cafe also hosts regular live music.

Came for a snack while strolling. Can't go wrong with a basic tapas. If one is coming for a main meal, then this really isn't the place. This is a proper tapas bar. The food is wonderful, but it's meant to be eaten with good friends over conversations transpiring over a long stretch. We came in during a stroll and it was way too early. And ordered the mix sharing platter. All well done and appointed. I will be back when it's not so early in the day and there are more people with me. I have walked past in the late evenings and it it's a hopping little place. This is a solid recommendation to go and enjoy!

We had a very warm welcome at this traditional pub, after a walk along the Wirral Way from Parkgate. It is very friendly and spotlessly clean. We highly recommend you visit and see for yourselves. We will be back. It has a well kept cellar with excellent beer.L … and if you wish, you can have your own choice of food delivered there, or take your own food and they will give you plates, cutlery etc. - What a great idea!

They've been doing a bit of work here since I last called here. They've now got a large beer garden in what was the old car park. It must almost be the same area as the pub itself. It's also raised up so you really do get a Dee View from there. Good place to spend a sunny afternoon. Great selection of beers, very friendly staff.

Lovely pub . Massive contrast to the way it used to be a good few years back . The usual things .. tired looking , in need of some tlc , uninterested staff etc . Now tho ... the new owner / s have turned it around and it's a much friendlier and cleaner place to pop into too . I don't live nearby , but whenever I am out and about in this area and in need of a stop , I usually drop by . Great selection of real ales alongside the usual stuff . All in all , a very nice and friendly place to relax in 👍.

Thought I'd try out this brewery as I go past it every time I come out the tunnel. It's basically a huge warehouse but it's had lots of seating put in to make it comfortable. They obviously have a large selection of beers, ales and ciders that would meet most requirements. There was no food available but while we were there they set up some pizza ovens. What I found amazing was that people were bringing children along. You don't normally see them in breweries. I must come here the next time I'm asked to mind the grandchildren.

GA has been a staple for many years for me now, a vast selection of house beers and of late a better selection of guest. It’s nice having a taproom and brewery on the Wirral. The visiting food venders can be hit and miss and it’s super dog friendly.

went on the brewery tour,well worth doing,callum the owner was really informative, answered all questions and was really enthusiastic about his brewery and the process, small tour group ,tour lasted about 1.5h with all the questions, 2 halves of your choice included in the tour,great value at a tenner. taproom had approx 25 beers on including a few guest beers,stayed for a few hrs afterwards and sampled a few,could've spent longer there,Charlotte? behind the bar was great too,dog friendly tap room,approx 10 mins walk from Hamilton square Station, definitely recommend the tour and tap room

Love it here! The beers are really good, and there is always something new to try. There is also a good selection of canned cocktails, if you are not really a beer fan. They have different local indie food retailers at the weekend, so you get a different experience each time. The staff are so friendly and we feel so welcome here. Also a great selection of board games, which is always fun! It is a dog friendly venue, which is another reason I love it as I get to pet loads of cute pups!

We travelled from liverpool to visit another local brewery and sure enough they didn't disappoint...the staff were lovely...beers were great 👍.... and we even added the suggested app Untapped yo keep a track of our favourite ones... definitely be returning here the atmosphere was vibrant!! Xx

Really laid back feel & great atmosphere allowing friend & family to have a great time. Own entrance to club & with Leo & Simon on security everyone felt safe so no gatecrashers. Had to arrange it at very short notice & nothing was too much trouble, allowing us to make a party really personal for my girl. You were all fantastic… ❤️ Oh & the woodfired Pizza’s are to kill for!

We stopped by the shop today as my husband wanted a minikeg as a treat. We had a chat with Steve Briscoe, the brewer and owner. We very much like the beer, the ethos and community spirit of this brewery. Have met Steve himself at beer festivals and the Wirral Ale Trail and at tours of the brewery over the past 10 years. Beer is tasty but not overwhelmingly trendy. No pineapple beers here. This is a very good thing in our opinion.

A great range of beers covering most styles, often specials and experimental brews available. Great night to be had on the brewery tour and thirsty Thursday is always enjoyable.

A top CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub with 8 real ales. Paulicarus had his first ever Billericay brewery beer. Zeppelin pale ale. Shaslic has a pint of Barncliffe bitter by Small World brewery. Lovely interior. Great find. Mrs says great larger selection. Food menu looks fab. Large function room avaiable to hire.

The best fish and chips I have eaten in England until now, with very good potatoes. Also very good the homemade curry sauce and the classic sauce with peas. Too heavy the homemade tartar sauce. Chips tasty but seasonings and sauces too heavy. Beer not at the top, served at room temperature and not cold. Fish and chips 5 stars, the rest 3 stars.

We tried scouse here for the first time, and it was amazing. Huge shout-out to Chef Roger for his masterpiece. Aaron, the bartender, recommended I pair it with the Abyss beer, and I was really happy with the choice

A rather interesting pub is the best way I can describe it! Brilliant decor and architecture and a brilliant selection of craft ales and beers which seem to be updated and rotated regularly. Brilliant location from town centre/ lime street.

For me all the so called iconic pubs of Liverpool aren't much to write home about, but the Ship & Mitre is probably the best one. The beers we had from the pumps were actually very nice. And we had pork scratchings and a bowl of "Scouse" which was basically a vegetable stew which had a few minuscule scraps of lamb in it. Nothing special, but if you want to try it, you can try it here. Prices and service both very reasonable.

Visited last night for an adidas meet up. Great venue. However what made it was the lady behind the bar that never stopped. Customer service at its best. Whatever she paid isn’t enough. Highly recommend

Bar staff are really friendly and there is a great atmosphere here with a cornucopia of music memorabilia for you to look at. They even have a Beatles jukebox 😎 If I could make one suggestion it would be to have more guest ales on tap 😉

Me and my wife fell into this place while over from Leeds when the brilliant Paul Kappa Band were on maybe 16 months ago. Absolutely blown away by the performance and quality of entertainment. We went back last Saturday with our 22 yr old son and his girlfriend worried it wasn’t gonna be as good. Every bit as good as last. Wish the Cavern Pub was in West Yorks. ☹️. We’ll be back. A+ thank you.

Restaurant was clean and quiet when we visited. The food was decent - hot and fresh on arrival, but the eggs were overcooked and hollandaise sauce could be improved. Worth it for the price.

The Welkin is right in the middle of the city centre, which makes it quite convenient. The place isn’t very big and has limited seating space. Food-wise, I’d say it was just okay not amazing, but not bad either. The prices are reasonable; for two people, we paid around £35, and it was filling enough. Overall, a decent spot if you’re in the area and want something quick, but not necessarily a must-visit.

TL;DR I would recommend a visit, but keep in mind seating may be limited due to the size of the venue. Review: Worth noting this is one of the smaller Wetherspoon venues you'll likely visit, and certainly the smallest in the area. And it is very likely that you won't find any seats free if you're looking for a sit down meal. This isn't a negative against the pub at all, as they can only do what they can with the space provided. But I'm putting this in the review in the hope it may help someone who is planning a visit to the area. There are a very limited number of seats outside (front and back) however I have never once seen these seats available. There are several other Wethrspoon venues nearby with more seating so consider this if searching specifically for a JD Wetherspoon. Again, this is not the fault of the venue I'm just making people aware. Although it was very busy when we visited, the food came quickly which was appreciated. However, the chips had been in a bit too long. The toilet cubicle doors did not lock on all stalls due to damage. So not ideal. Our table hadn't been cleaned when we sat down. There were no dishes but salt and other condiments had visibly been spilt. None of the staff seemed happy here, which is different from other Wetherspoon venues I've been to. Not sure if this is a coincidence. All in all I would recommend a visit, but keep in mind seating may be limited due to the size of the venue.

Ehh it was fine. Took us a while to be served (not rush hour whatsoever) and the jacked potato was inedible. My curry, on the other hand, was fairly tasty — and the place was clean (which is not something I can say about every other spoon we’ve been to). Conveniently located just near everything as well

This is the bully of a general manager that spoke and threw me out when my partner challenged him about the condition of the disabled toilet which I need to use as just had a major operation and he laughed continuously as his security team was ordered them to throw me out I will be in touch as well as got video evidence of the events The manger name is Danny that’s him in the photo

Typical spoons, you can't go wrong. Food was decent, beer reasonably priced as per the wetherspoons model. Could use more staff but I think that is a service industry issue all over. Always busy which speaks for itself that it's worth a visit

The fish was good, the atmosphere decent and the music nice. However, I was really disappointed with the fries. They felt reheated and of poor quality, which ruined the experience for me. I put ketchup over all the fries to make sure they won't be reused.

A group of 6 of us had a fantastic day out last Saturday playing darts and enjoying the bottomless brunch. The drinks were plentiful and loads of options on the bottomless and the food was delicious! I have a nut allergy and the staff were so accommodating and nothing felt like a problem. Thank you so much for excellent hospitality, we will be back! We had bottomless brunch at Roxy Ballroom and were looked after by Evie — she was absolutely fantastic! The service was quick, friendly, and really made the whole experience even better. Drinks and food came out promptly, and Evie kept everything running smoothly with a smile. Couldn’t have asked for better service — thank you, Evie!

I went to roxy ball room with a couple friends and phoebe was a great help for us! She took our drinks order and delivered them to our table for us, giving us more time to play the games! We then asked her about playing darts and she was a wonderful help and set us up to play darts too! It was a great experience with lovely staff!

We came to Roxy for just one game of pool and ended up staying for hours! Along with pool, we got into bowling and the basketball hoop game. We didn’t try the food, but the drinks were strong and well-made. The service was speedy, and we loved that you could order straight to the table. The only downside was wishing we had more than an hour for our pool session, but the game itself was a blast. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and plenty to do—we’ll definitely be back!

The Grapes is a traditional street corner pub dating back to 1804. There is an excellent selection of beers lager and cider including a good choice of hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The pub is featured in the camra good beer guide.

Grapes is my favorite place in Liverpool to enjoy a Sunday night. You will find the best jazz in the city, a wonderful representation of jazz with a Cuban twist. The musicians are incredible, they play extremely well, they have an excellent repertoire, playing bossa nova, Tom Jobim, among other great names in our Brazilian music, such as Milton Nascimento. The trumpeter is extremely friendly. I highly recommend everyone to visit this place, which offers a variety of delicious beers while enjoying great live jazz. The service is impeccable, all the waiters are extremely friendly and helpful.

This is the pub number in Liverpool on Sundays. The band that plays the jazz is incredible good . The atmosphere is perfect for any age (over 18). The prices are honest, and the service is amazing. I highly recommend this place on Sundays night until 12am.

Small city centre pub with lots of original charm. Excellent range of real ales to choose from and prices were very reasonable. Must get tight and cozy of an evening but plenty of room on our afternoon visit. Such a nice day that we ended up drinking upstairs on the outside patio.

Went in for some drinks on Friday night with some friends, was busy without being uncomfortable and crowded We went upstairs to the terrace but it was wet due to the weather that day which was a shame but this would be a great space and option for a nice day! There was a small table at the bottom of the stairs we sat at and had a drink

Brilliant little Bar/pub. There is so much to look at, definitely a talking point for every occasion. Friendly, Reasonably priced and good conversationalist. People from all over, weather for the atmosphere or inquisitively curious. Well worth a visit. 5☆ all day.

A fascinating brilliantly quirky subterranean drinking cave of dreams!! Well chosen selection of beer and drinks available. Also the best service with a smile we had ( by a northern mile!) on our night out, all credit to the two ladies behind the bar. Truly refreshing to encounter such wonderful service. We were on our way to a gig so only had time for a couple of beers, but they were the most enjoyable beers in a long time!

Popped in at the weekend. Service was a little slow but they were giving a tour so not a big issue. The menu was ok and there were no food options there that I could see. Good vibe with the music but was a bit on the cold side which is expected with a big open space. The beer I did try was good

We ate here on a Saturday night at 7pm and the restaurant area was quiet. By the time we left, the bar area had started to get busier but it didn't disturb us in the quiet food section! We had the ribs and a Caesar salad. The ribs were fantastic and the meat fell clean off the bone. The salad was also very tasty but didn't come with the croutons that the menu said they would, and as a result we felt it was missing something that the crunch from the croutons likely would have added. We were told they didn't have any at all and no alternative was offered which was disappointing, but the staff were otherwise incredibly friendly and happy to help. We had a lovely experience overall, and I highly recommend the ribs.

This is a decent little pub! Friendly and professional staff, good food (see below), a pleasant and clean place to be, and decent parking provided, too. Food: I've been eating here for years, mostly because friends of mine liked it, but I wasn't ever really all that impressed with it. But they've completely re-vamped the whole menu - it's tons better, with lots more to choose from, a whole bunch of vegetarian options, and even a few vegan ones (which is hugely appreciated!). The friend I went with ordered a classic from their old menu, which is thankfully still on this new one, and he said it was even better than it used to be. I applaud whoever's decision it was to improve the menu this way; I'm happy to go back for sure!

Absolutely appalling evening. We set up a tab and said we would have a couple of drinks outside before eating. We checked they had steaks. We came in to eat after about 45 minutes (19.10) only to be told food had stopped 😡. There were people at the next table who had been seated and were looking at menus. How can this be acceptable!!!! It totally ruined our night and the night of others hoping to dine. We warned other people who had just parked and were hoping to dine there. I have to say bar staff were brilliant I felt sorry for them having to carry the can. Apparently the chef just shuts shop when he feels like it 🤷‍♂️. Lovely steak at the Shrew so I would suggest that would be a more reliable location if you want to eat locally.

Stopped by recently and the experience was a bit frustrating. We were told the chef was on his break and no one knew when he'd be back — it ended up being at least 45 minutes before he returned, so no food in the meantime. They also had no gas for the draught soft drinks. There didn’t seem to be a manager or senior staff around, which left the young girls working there to handle everything — and to be fair, they were doing their best under the circumstances. When the food finally came, the chips were undercooked. On the bright side, the prices were reasonable and it’s a good spot to watch sports. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but I’d be hesitant to go back for the food.

Great weekly quiz, lovely staff who always make you feel welcome. Clean seating area and toilets. Nice food, could do with a more varied menu though.

Came in for food Saturday afternoon to be told chef was on his lunch so we had a drink an left ,we returned at 7 pm for meal same day only to be told kitchen was closed .There's no time on menu an restaurant was far from full with food still coming out at 7.30 . We wont be back !!!!!!

ordered chicken katsu nowhere on the menu did it say that this meal was as hot as vindaloo burnt my mouth sent it back sent us another meal and charged another 11npounds so disgusted we sent it back ended up paying 35 pounds for 2 meals one of which i could not eat very bad business practice will never go to the queens again

Nice little place ice cold beer polite staff , but this was my main meal now to say I was disappointed was an understatement this was it before I started. Needless to say I had to go home and make myself something to eat , wouldn't have filled me kids up won't be ordering food here again ..

Good old boozer before the match. Not in Birkenhead anymore but travel back for the Tranmere games and this pub is spot on for a pint before the game.

Called in for a pint today and it's a quite nice place to watch the world go by. It's very bright inside because of the very large windows and there is a great view across the river of sunny Liverpool. Instant service as it wasn't too full and a reasonable range of beers and ales. I'd imagine if the ferry was working it would probably be a lot busier.

Absolute disgrace, don't even bother walking in to this degenerate bar. Unwelcoming, rude staff, accused me of dealing drugs on my first time in? Probably just to get non-locals out. Would NOT recommend, disgusting attitude towards new customers. ENTER ON YOUR OWN RISK, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Drinks also very expensive for what you're sitting in.

We called today for a drink. A pint of John Smith's and a diet coke. It was a pleasant atmosphere with music tv playing in the background. A super view over the water from the seat next to the window. The barmaid was friendly. It wasn't busy either.

A surprising find in Birkenhead and not far from first stop by bus or metro from Liverpool to Birkenhead. Drink prices are reasonable. We had Sunday roast here, and that was very delicious. Choice of beef, lamb or chicken. The dinner comes with toasties, carrot, mushy peas (sort of), cauliflower, broccoli and a Yorkshire pudding. Two sizes available, small or large.

Went here today for Sunday lunch staff were very pleasant very welcoming ,good view over the mersey out of front window nice little pub . The lunch it's self was gorgeous everything was so tasty hot and lashings of meat juice gravy. Couldn't fault it . Followed by sticky toffee pud and custard my day was made 😋 then home for an afternoon on the couch 🤣😂🤣 very enjoyable will definitely have another roast in here. Go try it you won't be disappointed

Good home cooked style Sunday lunches. Comfort food desserts. No real ale on my last visit. Bonus views of Liverpool.

If I could go lower with the rating I would, other than the atmosphere this place is poor. 4 staff with 8 people at the bar and they still struggle. Rather talk amongst themselves than serve and when requesting to be served you get met with attitude. The young lad with glasses and semi long blonde hair needs to be taken on a customer facing programme, rude and extremely unprofessional, as were the rest of them (him more so)and need to be helped. You'll do nothing but make money to spite yourselves. Eventually this will end as your customer base inevitably find other bars. It is a shame because this bar was a fantastic place.

Nice Liverpool FC themed club. Nice atmosphere, nice people and a good variety of beers and drinks. Recommended if you are a LFC fan. On weekdays, Monday through Thursday they have happy hour in the bar. Also possible to take your picture with a replica of the CL trophy, that is pretty cool for fans.

An amazing place to watch football for Liverpool fans. Multiple screens so everyone can enjoy the game from any position, beers and food (pizzas, burgers etc.). The place is like a Liverpool FC museum with photos of the LFC legends current players. The entrance to the bar is a nice surprise "This is Anfield". There is also live music with Liverpool's chants. I watched the derby against Man United and the atmosphere was great. There is also a pool table to relax before and after the games. Definitely recommend it for Liverpool fans.

Great little pub for any Liverpool fan. Popped in after a job, and it wasn't that busy, and the food and drink were all good priced considering it's location near the waterfront. Some great LFC murals from local artist Paul Curtis adorned the walls. The LFC channel was playing silently on the multiple screens. Overall very clean and a good spot to watch the match I'd imagine. Will try the food next time.

Had a lovely time at Jurgens bar !! While I was walking past it and having a nosey in a lovely man told me.to.go in as they have a trophy in there. I went in to have a look and they let me hold them both 😍. The bar is amazing as are the staff, so down to earth and friendly. I can't wait to visit again. Thank you so much for a great experience.

Popped in for a pre-gig pint and because I hadn't been in before. A fairly small back street pub but I quite liked it and the Guinness was very good.

Listed grand ll. Circular bar. Leaded glass.floor and wall tiles. Good old fashioned corner pub. Very helpful landlady. Will go back.

Unfortunately there were no real ales on, but the Guinness was good. A real gem of a place with mosaic flooring and etched windows. A listed pub full of Victorian charm. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Popped in for a quick pint and ended up staying for bingo! Jo is an amazing landlady and I had an absolute ball! Free buffet, bingo fun and cheap drinks.... Can't wait to go back! Thank you for cheering me up

This could be a nice pub again if they got new bar staff as the staff they have now are running the place like a hostel went in the toilet and they liked if they needed a good clean the drinks we had were warm and just like drinking warm water no wounder it was no one in just me and my friend worst pub iv been in for a very long time .. P.S. I'd rather go to wetherspoons then go back to this pub

Couldn't be rougher if it tried, even the leg of the pool table had a bandage on it. Plenty of heart tho'. Don't take your first date there, cos she'll think you're a bum but when she actually stays with you, totally understanding you are indeed a bum and loves you anyway, take her then cos it's cheap!!

You need to carry cash, nice environment, nice courtyard, free pool on Wednesdays however toilets are now dated, could do with a refurb.

Bar staff are racist. I’ve never been made to feel so uncomfortable in an environment that should be so welcoming to new people. I was even refused to purchase a drink.

Cheap beer but if your not a regular it's not very welcoming. Called to use the toilet and tried to pay contact less and I was told minimum spend was £5 However that did not apply to regulars. Also after sitting alone at a table maintaining social distancing, one by one the other seats were occupied by regulars. All in all not very sociable

A great local pub ( probably the best in the area). Great characters on both sides of the bar, always have a good laugh in here. Karaoke on weekends. Pool table and darts available.

Went in for a family funeral about 2pm. Haven't been in there for almost 20 years, so was surprised how much it had changed. Only 2 staff on but they really kept on top of everything, no long queues for drinks, and plenty was definitely drank! Nowhere to sit at first, but one of the regulars invited us to his table (thanks Dave), and we sat chatting to him. Nice, friendly pub, we should call in more often as only down the road.

A huge thank you to Jess, Dave and the team for organising my husband’s 70th birthday celebration. We had the bar on Sunday afternoon into the evening and it was a fantastic day. Food and drinks kept flowing and everyone commented on how gorgeous the bar was. All the staff were amazing, it couldn’t have been better.❤️

I am not usually one for posting bad reviews, but I was so upset last night after I visited The Library, Oxton. I don't live in the area and as and when I am back home, I look forward to my visit to Oxton Village to meet up with my friends and have a nice chilled out glass of beer or wine. I had 2 x medium sized glasses of wine during our time in there last night, and was sat at the bar just chatting with my friends. I asked my friend to get another round in as it was my turn to get the drinks in. When I came out of the ladies, my friend came over and said that the Bar (Manager) wasn't prepared to serve me any more drinks as I had had enough!! (He clearly doesn't know me very well, as it takes a lot more than a glass of lager, previously to getting there, and 2 medium wines in The Library, to get me drunk). As a result, he was in the back room with some guys and I went over and challenged him as to why he thought that was the case and he didn't give me any other response other than "I had had enough to drink and he wasn't prepared to serve me". I said "I was standing upright having a conversation with him, so how could I be drunk", and he just walked away. I was absolutely mortified and quite shocked by this. His dodgy mates in the back of the pub then starting shouting and telling me to "efoff and get out of the pub". I was furious to say the least. I have given 2 stars as my review, as the wine was very nice and the only outcome for me from this, was that I didn't spend any further money at the bar. I am having a pretty traumatic time of things at the moment and to be treated in this manor on top of everything else, was absolutely appalling!! I feel that the staff need retraining in their attitudes on Customer Service issues, towards customers, and feel very sad that this happened and I had to do this review. It has always been somewhere I enjoyed visiting, catching up with friends and a nice quiet drink. Doubt I will be back now as a result, and just to add, this is the first time in my life anyone has ever refused to serve me, and moreso in that manner. Lisa

Lovely place but in recent visits get the impression young staff are inexperienced about what goes into certain drinks. There were also people eating their own food in there which ruined the atmosphere due to the smell - why allow this as a business?

Great place to hang out, staffs are friendly. And please provide the missing ingredients for the spicy margarita and the crest of cocktails recipe that have been unavailable for over 3 weeks.

Averagely priced beer but at least they serve both Coors & Guinness. Friendly staff & regulars. Open plan & spacious so observing covid guidelines is easy & hand gel is by the entrance just inside the door. They accept debit & credit cards which is a bonus as some backstreet pubs only take cash. There is a £5 min spend limit on card transactions tho so I advise pay for 2 pints then put 2nd pint on tab til you want it at a later time. Sadly, due to location there is no car park & no room for an outside drinking area so I can't mark them down for something that is out of the landlords hands. I like this relaxed clean locals pub & I use it regularly. On Sunday afternoons the landlord Mike serves up an exceptional Sunday Roast lunch btwn 2 - 4pm for only £5 each but he only does upto 20 covers as he does it all himself with no backup as he is an enthusiastic talented amateur, not a pro chef so take your chances as to availability & just enjoy a sociable locals pub atmosphere while waiting for your meal ok.

Bought a 15k GP watch and did not work on day one. Christies rejected this claim and did not help with the massive service fees to fix the watch. Be sure to double check everything as they sold it to me saying it all worked properly. Not good at all. Very bad.

I play for the sea dog ladies darts team. We have a large room with no TV or snooker table in it... The service at the bar is top notch. What's not to like.

Do not even attempt to go in you wont be welcome or you'll get made to feel unwelcome the longer you stay. Nice decorations, ornaments and memorabilia everywhere though. Heard from many people it used to be a popular pub once upon a time.

Proper down to earth boozer. Didn't have a lager I fancied on draught but no problem had a bottle of lager instead. Staff sat with the customers and they were all very friendly and chatty.
