Booked in advance, Sushi Jin by Chef Kimura is one of the best in Japan. Not only does the Omakase consist of the best ingredients from Toyama Bay, but Chef Kimura himself, masters the peak of his career with a hardworking and precious craft. Came for lunch, and I got a seat in front of Chef Kimura San. Before doing anything, make sure you ask for his permission to record or take a picture of the place and food. From the starter (chawanmushi), your palate will get spoiled by the rich flavor of the dish, it’s comforting and welcoming. It opens up your senses. Followed by sushi and the soup it’s not your usual miso soup, chef Kimura made the broth out of the fish’s butchery leftovers, the umami just hit the right spot. And the pressed sushi, which I had never seen anywhere, but Chef Kimura, continue to amaze me. Every dish has its own profile, but the one that will put you in awe is the way he thinks to create the menu that comes out of the box, the innovation and the product are perfectly matched 🤩 I couldn’t say a word but respect to the whole team of Sushi Jin. It’s only 12 seats so please don’t be late and take the sake pairing, they have Misuizumi and Iwa Sake, the best combo ever!

We booked beforehand and chose the most expensive set with wine pairing for lunch. The whole meal is very tasty! Definitely one of my best Sushi experience. You can feel Chef puts a lot of heart into his food. Chef speaks English and he is very nice and helpful. I even learned a bit of fish and Sushi knowledge during the meal. The dessert is also very delicious.

As for the price and quality and innovativeness of this sushi restaurant, it is unbeatable. Try their sake pairing, although its only from one sake factory it is so amazing. Dont drive and stay for one night nearby, you'd never regret it. the only downside is the small of the vinegar when you go in, but you would not notice it after a while.

One of the best Sushj I have never eaten before. So well arrangement of Sushi and Sake, the combination is fantastic! Must try, even worth you take 90 min traveling for Kanazawa.

Fantastic local sushi spot. Coming from Tokyo the sushi here is so luxurious…each cut of fish is like 3x thick as a typical one in Tokyo😂 We went with the ことぶき course (5,500 yen). The difference between ことぶき and the cheapest course (Toyama) is that it’s got Toro and Uni. Every piece was amazing. We particularly enjoyed: 🦑squid (it’s sweet, soft but still had a nice chew and isn’t rubbery) 🐚scallop (so sweet and soft, and the yuzu seasoning enhances the flavor) 🍣Akami 🍣Belly of Kampachi or Yellowtail (its surprising how rich and fatty Kampachi can be) - not included in the course 🍣Ikura (I’m usually not a fan of Ikura but this was so good. Each bite was a burst of sweet and savory goodness) We also added white shrimp, Ootoro, and octopus as they were not included in the course. White shrimp is a must try in Toyama but it wasn’t mind blowing. Wouldn’t recommend the octopus. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for good sushi. We went a minute before they opened on a weekday and were the first to get in. There was no line when we left at 5:40.

Probably one of the worst sushi experiences I’ve ever had. First, this is my first time ever, got hurt by a fish bone in sushi. Yes, a fish bone, unbelievable. Then, in one sushi roll, the nori is so hard that I could not bite and almost hurt my teeth. Second, in their most expensive 7450 yen course, the fish I receive are not even close to the value. I’ve had many sushi experience including many Michelin star sushi stops, this is lowest value. The only good piece was O Toro, the rest are just mediocre. There is no Uni, no Unagi nor Anago, nor scallops. I strongly suspect they raise the price to foreigners with bad quality but give real treats to local customer. Otherwise they won’t get a ok review in tabelog and google. If you are a foreigner, I would suggest you go elsewhere for a fair and good meal.

Haven't had sushi before and didn't really know what to have so we chose to share a selection from the menu. None of us speak Japanese but we're made very welcome. Everything so fresh tasting. the ginger wakes up your taste buds and the sushi is delicious and surprisingly filling.

I keep observing what people ordered There is a English Menu, basically is the set menu... and I want something difference At the beginning I want to order omakase set which is the chef selection... However I have some items really like to order.... then I go for lunch set B, 9pcs nigiri (8pcs in my photo and 1pc ikura) and 6 pcs maki~ After that I ordered another 2 white fish, uni wasa roll and crab miso roll~ All sushi are absolutely amazing and very unique~ the flavour and texture is totally different from Tokyo/Osaka style (not even want to mention Australian style@0@) The highlight (wow factors):- *Uni wasa hand roll, super crispy seaweed, uni mixed with fresh grated wasabi and the cucumber, amazing and refreshing *Ganbachi, kind of kingfish, taste so good *Salmon...yeah...is salmon, I m not sure what magic the chef use...he did mention no soy sauce... the salmon is melting in my mouth, and a hint of lemon and salt *the clam/shell... not sure the name... but if you like akagai(ark shell) this one is way more tasty that akagai Definitely will comeback in the future! **I admire the chef's craftsmanship!

Popular sushi shop mainly serving local seafoods caught in Toyama Bay. No alcohol drinks served. And please bring cash. I ordered dishes individually. Didn’t go for the set. Sweet Shrimp tastes better in Fall and Winter seasons. Ordered twice. Some of dishes are already put with salt, so didn’t need to dig soy sauce.

Shrimp tempura is not so well since it has no meat at all and basically you can just eat the fried shell. Yet other two types of tempura taste really good, and the quantity is also satisfying. Besides, the nice service is just the reason why I give it 5 stars. Really appreciate the male staff who helped me order the meal.

Recommend you to have an early dinner in order to spend lesser time for queuing. Don’t forget to try their ginger with seaweed which is a bit spicy but good for appetite. Tempura is that crispy as expected , the proportion of a bowl of rice is generous, feel fulled.

Nice shrimp tempura. A specialty in Toyama. The fried shrimp is crispy and served with a shrimp cracker. Fish tempura is ok but shrimp tempura tastes better. Queue can be long and the shop is crowded. But worth the wait. Another recommended place when you are in Toyama.

I queued as it seems like a popular hot spot. I ordered a lot by myself expecting delicious food. But when I eat, there wasn't the impressive freshness that's hit my palette. Everything doesn't have much taste (?) I was hoping there's the subtle sweetness of the seafood that comes to my mouth but there isn't. But the items are still fresh, but average. While walking around toyama station and we saw some people already queuing up(it was around 5:00pm that day). As the queue is not long, we decided to have an early sushi dinner here. To my surprise, quality of sushi is just soso(as you can see from the photos). Perhaps it is the convenient location that makes it popular? Really don't know why. But I don't think it worths to wait so long here.

Great sushi, possibly the best quality of non-omakase restaurant I’ve ever had in Japan. A bit pricey, but considering the portion and sizing, definitely worth to try. Also, unlimited miso soup with unlimited seaweed to fill you up. They had English menu as well.

Casual setting with delicious and fresh sushi at reasonable prices for the quality and speed of service! Ordering without Japanese was also easy on the tablet. Special mentions: the crab croquet, crab leg nigiri were very good. Urchin was also very fresh with a hint of sweetness, which is what I look for to determine if it’s indeed freshly made. Chefs and staff were very accomodating. Be aware there might be a line at dinner service. Register a number first at the tablet near the door, take the receipt and wait to be called (it is a good idea to google how your number is pronounced in Japanese and listen for it). Sushi in Toyama is slightly different than in Tokyo. There are many different types available here that is not commonly found in Tokyo. Loved the sushi here. Went there for dinner. Have to wait outside as it was packed. Waited around 30min before our turn. Food is great and fresh. Tried their local seafood like fiery squid and white prawn. Too bad some of the items was already sold out. Will need to come by earlier if want to try their popular items.

Absolutely delicious sushi. One of the best that I have tried during my travels within Japan. The seafood and rice were prepared and served fresh, the service in this restaurant was also very warm and friendly. English menu on ipad available. I would definitely visit again if I have the chance to come to Toyama again!

Izakaya chain which seems to specialize in yakitori. This shop is located close to Toyama station and good for a quick bite. Place is large, with ample seating, but still seemed pretty crowded, although we could manage to get seated quickly. Food is standard. Service was quite prompt and friendly, which more than made up for the standard fare.

There is a lot of smoke inside, the overall atmosphere is pretty good, the food are tasty and affordable. I think this place is always busy, worth to try I feel like i am local😅

Good food and cheap prices. When you order an item, they usually come in five skewers. Most items are less than 400 yen. What a bargain! The quality is decent and service is fast too. No Hida or Kobe beef here. I went on a Sunday when they first open and seats all filled up within half an hour. The restaurant is very inconspicuous from the outside. You have to go through a small walking entrance before you hit their front door. Less than five minutes ites from the South exit of the train station. They do have an English menu but they do not speak English. Seating is small but they do have a place to hang your coats and backpacks. I highly recommend this place. Best Yakatori for quantity, quality, and price point being in Japan for 20 days. in other words, best value can be found here. Fyi, smoking is allowed in this establishment.

I really wanted to try their famous okonomiyaki but I was intimidated by the amount of mayonnaise they put on top. So I ordered the yakisoba instead. I know some chefs would be offended if you ask them to remove some ingredients.

We went there 30 minutes before the opening time and there were already quite a few people queuing.. we waited for around over an hour to get in the shop. The food was delicious. we love the mixed yakisoba and the squid okonomiyaki. It was worth the wait.

Seems like the locals receive better service than foreigners. We were given only a sushi menu, but we saw locals at the counter with sashimi and other dishes. The sushi itself was delicious, however.

Ordered toyamawan sushi 10 set on 3rd April. But the master served only 9 and told me that was all. Then I showed the picture and memo I took since first sushi to proof that they served only 9 sushi. Got my 10th sushi in the end but a very unpleasant experience. NOT recommend to traveler who can’t or only speak a little Japanese.

They are featured on the bib gourmand michelin guide. Store is located pretty conveniently. Inteior of store is very modern and sleek. Chef is very warm and welcoming even tho they speak little to no english. You'll be able to have a conversation with them just fine if you understand little bit of japanese like i do, though. They have alacarte and course menu. But because i cant read japanese at all, i requested omakase and the chef gladly made me a 12 course sushi. After the course is done the chef will ask you if you want a custom made sushi on request. I asked for the sea urchin and otoro to be made on order. Overall, a very good experience and good value for the taste (4600 jpy per person for 12+2 nigiri pieces)

This is a very traditional sushi restaurant. The sashimi was incredibly fresh—each piece practically melted in my mouth! The grilled fish was superb, perfectly cooked and flavorful. There was a wait to get in and then a wait after purchasing your ticket once inside. Took about 45 mins altogether at around 8pm but we’ll worth the wait. It was so good we came back for lunch the next day and got the same but with an added egg inside (extra 100 yen)

We ordered at the machine and it doesn’t have English language to choose from. We used Google translate to grasp the idea of which kind of udon topping we want to get. The noodle is amazing, I must say it’s the best udon noodle I’ve ever tried in Japan. The broth is tasty and bold, it’s totally different with udon in other region. Also, the topping we chose were beef intestine, tempura and eggs. I was born and raised in vn, we have a lot of dished made from beef or pork intestine, i didn’t know Japanese also has this kind of dish. What I also like is that they cooked and we enjoyed the food from the same stew, so it’s still hot until my last drop. The noodle is thick and firm. It’s definitely a great choice for cold winter or chilly autumn. The price is quite reasonable, we ordered 3 stews and it took us around 3k ¥ for 3.
