The arhitecture is good but became a bit old. The place itself offers many atractions like a huge interesting bookstore (just keep in mind english books are not to be found there). But the most interesting feature of the place is it's location: in the heart of La Candelaria neighbourhood, oldest and most boheme neighbourhood of Bogotà. You can't possibl go wrong going here, meteres away you could find and discover different wonders of the city: botero museum, amizing old streets, central plaza and cathedral and so on

Gabriel García Márquez was born on 6 March 1927[5] in Aracataca, Colombia, to Gabriel Eligio García and Luisa Santiaga Márquez Iguarán.[6] Soon after García Márquez was born, his father became a pharmacist and moved, with his wife, to Barranquilla, leaving young Gabriel in Aracataca.[7] He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Doña Tranquilina Iguarán and Colonel Nicolás Ricardo Márquez Mejía.[8] In December 1936, his father took him and his brother to Sincé, while in March 1937, his grandfather died; the family then moved first (back) to Barranquilla and then on to Sucre, where his father started up a pharmacy.[9] When his parents fell in love, their relationship met with resistance from Luisa Santiaga Márquez's father, the Colonel. Gabriel Eligio García was not the man the Colonel had envisioned winning the heart of his daughter: he (Gabriel Eligio) was a Conservative, and had the reputation of being a womanizer.[10][11] Gabriel Eligio wooed Luisa with violin serenades, love poems, countless letters, and even telephone messages after her father sent her away with the intention of separating the young couple. Her parents tried everything to get rid of the man, but he kept coming back, and it was obvious their daughter was committed to him.[10] Her family finally capitulated and gave her permission to marry him[12][13] (The tragicomic story of their courtship would later be adapted and recast as Love in the Time of Cholera.[11][14]) Since García Márquez's parents were more or less strangers to him for the first few years of his life,[15] his grandparents influenced his early development very strongly.[16][17] His grandfather, whom he called "Papalelo",[16] was a Liberal veteran of the Thousand Days War.[18] The Colonel was considered a hero by Colombian Liberals and was highly respected.[19] He was well known for his refusal to remain silent about the banana massacres that took place the year after García Márquez was born.[20] The Colonel, whom García Márquez described as his "umbilical cord with history and reality,"[21] was also an excellent storyteller.[22] He taught García Márquez lessons from the dictionary, took him to the circus each year, and was the first to introduce his grandson to ice—a "miracle" found at the United Fruit Company store.[23] He would also occasionally tell his young grandson "You can't imagine how much a dead man weighs",[24][25] reminding him that there was no greater burden than to have killed a man, a lesson that García Márquez would later integrate into his novels.

History museum
Claustro de San Agustín - Universidad Nacional de Colombia is a historic site in Bogota, dating back to 1583. Once an Augustinian cloister, it now operates as a museum under the National University's program. The building features a picturesque courtyard surrounded by arched terraces and houses six galleries with rotating exhibits and events like yoga classes. Visitors can explore various displays, including powerful photo documentation of Colombian violence history by Jesus Abad Colorado.
A museum run by the National University in a former cloister that belonged to the Augustinian Order. The Museum has an amazing exhibit on the civil conflicts that have plagued Colombia for the last century. While emotionally heavy, it is a must-see for those who want to learn more about the history of the country. However, do take the exhibit with a grain of salt, as the university that runs it is famous for its leftist leanings and the author of the writing lets his opinion bleed into what he wrote at the end. Still, a wonderful museum never the less.
S F — Google review
It’s a moving place for our memory as a country. Not only the violence and war history, but the courage and hope of our people. A great opportunity to avoid the oblivion. Highly recommended.
Jose C — Google review
Beautiful place. Very quiet, well kept, clean bathrooms and at the entrance we had some pastelitos and café at Pâtisserie Francaise. You will have to opportunity to watch a documentary about Ayahuasca o yagé and then upstair there is a very touching exposition of Jesus Abad Colorado and his photo documentation of a very hurtful situation with the war among Colombian citizens. If you happens to be in Bogotá, don't miss this opportunity. The entrance is free.
Valentina M — Google review
Excellent! Considering we are in a country where 1% of the population owns 40% of the so called wealth (including the media) we need more leftist museums. We’re in a terrible time where the rich people are getting richer and wages are stagnating. This is try in Australia too. Workers of the world unite!

(Translated by Google) We went on Holy Thursday, with few diners. The prices are quite high (standard size juices from 11.2k onwards) and, in relation to the dishes, the cost does not do justice to what is delivered. We ordered a chicken that claimed to come stuffed with some vegetables and paprika sauce. When the plate arrived, the meat was cut into medium pieces, only 2 of which had the filling and the sauce was served on the edge of the plate; The meat itself had little flavor, so salt had to be added. The Neapolitan chicken that was ordered also had to be salted. The casserole that was ordered arrived extremely salty and watery; Fortunately they changed it and both the flavor and thickness improved. On the other hand, the service took a long time, considering that we were the only ones in the restaurant.

(Translated by Google) It is a good restaurant, the pastas have a significant presence on the menu. The tomato cream is delicious, however, those who enjoy it highlighting the acidity will enjoy it in all its splendor. The flavors of the Carbonara are balanced. The seafood pasta with lobster reduction is intense at first but then the flavor becomes flat and the acidity of the tomato in the sauce makes the flavors of the seafood attenuate, and the mouth is saturated with flavor, even the soft palate is left affected the tone of the flavor of the sauce, losing all the power of the sea flavor.

Park
Parque de los Novios, also known as Parque El Lago, is a recreational park in Bogota that offers various attractions. It features a large children's play area and a lake where visitors can enjoy boat rides and kayaking. The park is set to host the Colombia al Parque music festival, showcasing the diverse musical landscape of Colombia. This year's festival has a special theme called 'When the River Sounds,' paying tribute to Colombia's rivers and their cultural significance.
🌟 Beautiful Green Escape in the Heart of Bogotá! Parque de Los Novios is a gem in Bogotá, perfect for a day of relaxation, family fun, or a scenic walk. The park offers ample green spaces and beautiful lakes that make you feel far from the city hustle. Whether you're looking to enjoy a peaceful walk, have a picnic, or even paddleboat on the lake, this park has something for everyone. The park is well-maintained, with clean pathways and plenty of shaded areas, which makes it ideal for a sunny day outing. There are also recreational spots for kids and areas for pets, making it a great destination for the whole family. A highlight for me was the range of activities available, from bike rentals to weekend food vendors. There’s a lovely energy here on weekends when families come out to relax, yet it’s still peaceful enough to enjoy solo or with a friend. I’d highly recommend a visit if you’re in Bogotá – it’s an accessible, well-kept space to unwind and enjoy nature.

Cute park with lake, bridges, work out equipment, jog trail, loads of trees and green, spaces for children to play, ducks almost everywhere, they know humans feed them with raw corn so they come to you for it. Lovely place, Ive seen people doing photoshoots, picnicking, barbequoing, working out, jogging, there are sometimes small events opened to the public.

Huge, family-friendly park that features paddleboats on a lake, a playground for the kids and plenty of open space for picnics so packing a lunch is encouraged. A great way to spend a budget-friendly afternoon with family doing pretty much any activity you desire. Take in the views and relax...

Is the perfect place to reconnect with nature and animals. After being caught up in the chaos of the city, this park makes you forget you’re still within such a large urban space. It’s a peaceful and beautiful spot, full of charm. Watching geese, ducks, and other birds freely roaming around brings so much joy; they are adorable. There are plenty of quiet spaces to sit, read, or enjoy a meaningful conversation in a calm atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone seeking serenity

Medium size and surprisingly pretty park. You can rent rowboats/ kayaks too but usually long line. A bit too many people sometimes but still amazing for camping, relaxing, couples etc. Some spots are surprisingly scenic. The ducks/ geese are a bit over friendly. Corferias ExpoArtesanias is a vibrant hub located in Bogota, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Colombia through various events and exhibitions. This renowned center hosts an array of activities, from art fairs to culinary showcases, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in local traditions. The annual ExpoBoyaca event highlights the best of Boyacense cuisine and culture over four exciting days filled with live music and diverse shows across multiple pavilions.
I attended Corferias due to the Anato fair . The most important fair for our industry and it was the first time I attended in Colombia. I was delighted with the quality of the stalls and supplies . Also great space in the different pavilions with good food options (although more vegan options need to be available!)

I went to the FILBo 2025. There was a lot to see. Book discounts are not really great, but you can always find whatever you're looking for. The only downside is the amount of people, sometimes it is impossible to walk. My advice if you want to visit it, is to get there as soon as it opens and plan your visit accordingly, getting to your favorite places first.

If you go here for Baum, you are in for a treat. It is one of the best music venues I've ever been to! It has a great layout, production to the level I never knew was possible, beautiful people, immense sound and the visuals will blow your damn mind. If there is a festival you must do before you leave the world, make it this.

Lovely modern and super clean hotel with a very friendly and attentive staff. Wonderful executive lounge! Full buffet breakfast with made to order omelettes. Will absolutely be back in the future. Amazing stay in Bogota` only 15 minutes from BOG airport.
Vincent C — Google review
Visited the center for a conference in ophthalmology, about 30 minutes away (day time) from BOG airport, in walking distance to a Hilton (see my post on that hotel). The center has an interesting layout, multi levels (4), accessibility via escalator, in comparison so other convention centers, due to its design, rather smaller. Hence with a popular conference the show floor is packed solid - there are large meeting rooms on each level too, making it ideal for meetings with presentations or papers being held to an audience. There are a variety of restaurants around the center which is convenient. This location is about 10 minutes away by car to the nearest shopping center

It's a great place to host large events, fairs and exhibitions, however their security is poor considering the large amount of people they receive. They should have metal detectors active.

Iberia Park is an annual fair held for 14 days in July, showcasing Colombian and international handicrafts, including textiles, ceramics, woodwork, and leather goods. The event features products like clothing, jewelry, and accessories while promoting economic and cultural development. Additionally, the park offers a serene urban forest environment with diverse bird species and serves as a semi-private public space suitable for outdoor activities. It provides ample children's play areas but has limited walking paths and surveillance.
This park is very good for exercising and taking your pet for a walk

(Translated by Google) It is a semi-private public park because it is located in the middle of complexes, a large green space, a very appropriate place for outdoor activities, it has a small parking lot on the street that can be far away, plenty of games for children, if it rains the space is closed. It is limited because the walking paths are limited, grass predominates in this place, it has good surveillance. April in Colombia is a vibrant time, especially during the Holy Week celebrations known as Semana Santa. One of the most notable events takes place in Santa Cruz de Mompox, where locals come together to commemorate this religious occasion. The festivities are filled with traditional customs and rituals that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region. Additionally, visitors can expect to witness colorful processions and immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere that permeates the streets during this time.

(Translated by Google) UPDATE: April Colombia's insurance became responsible for the costs of hospitalization and care on March 20, 2019. Payment to the hospital in New York City took approximately a year. 05/2018 My dad had an accident riding a bicycle here in New York City in May 2018, he had a hip fracture. From the beginning April Colombia was calling every day to find out how my dad's health was. But now that we receive the hospital and radiology bills, the insurance company in Colombia does not respond, saying that it takes a lot of time while they examine the case. Meanwhile, here we must deal with the phone calls from the hospital, the bills that arrive and that they say that we will have legal problems if we do not respond with current payments. My mother has contacted me several times and they transfer her to different phone lines until they finally call her to an agent named Juan. He says that they are still evaluating the case. We have always sent communications by WhatsApp and by email as requested, I even offered to send my father's medical history by Avianca International (or some other email) since there are 400 pages, but they have not shown interest in receiving it. Many procedures to obtain insurance benefits that in the end do not respond. We are still waiting if they will respond..... (Translated by Google) The sales service is unsurpassed, they are agile in the process of preparing and billing the policy, however reading the comments here and my experience of the trip I just took covered by this insurer, many doubts arise about the capacity and intention of response that April may have when faced with a mishap. In my case the return flight left and had to be returned due to failures on the plane. They canceled the flight and scheduled me for the next day, delaying my return for 24 hours. Since the insurance expired on the day of the original return, I contacted April to extend the policy time by one day, a condition that is not possible so I had to pay for five additional days, which is the minimum allowed by that company. Then, reviewing the policy, I found that it had coverage of 150 dollars for a flight delay and I asked April's advisor, asking him to cross the amount paid by me in the extension of the policy against the reimbursement that they offer for a delayed flight, receiving a without number of absurd refusals such as: "ONLY APPLIES IF YOU REPORT BEFORE" Is it possible to predict that the flight will have a setback and my return will be delayed? "THE FLIGHT WAS CANCELED BY THE AIRLINE" "THERE IS NO FLIGHT DELAY" Does it matter if the airline cancels or suspends or eliminates a flight? What matters is my delay condition due to the flight being delayed for an additional 24 hours which forced me to incur an expense which is the extension of the policy. Thus I could refer to countless responses that make me think that I am lucky not to have had an accident and have to resort to using the policy, because in the state of disability of someone who suffers an accident or illness, it is impossible to face a company like April that becomes defensive when faced with a request to comply with agreed clauses.
