Mysore Palace, a stunning Indo-Saracenic architectural marvel completed in 1912, boasts a grand durbar hall and hosts weekly illuminations. The palace is famous for the traditional Dasara procession, Jamboo Savari, featuring a decorated elephant carrying the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari during Vijaya Dashami. This centuries-old celebration was initiated by Raja Wodeyar in 1610 and has continued uninterrupted.
A palace well maintained by the Mysuru Royal Family. Clean space with history and stories hidden in every corner. Beautiful intricate designs to be seen everywhere. Worth visiting. There are food stall and ample space to store luggage with safety. Entry fee charged for adults ₹100.
Sheethal K — Google review
I visited this palace when during my childhood, and it looks as stunning as it is even today as well. The painting and drawings on the walls are so beautiful and real that it gives a lifelong memories. Must visit if you want to let your child understand the history from closer lense.
Veerendra S — Google review
An architectural gem of Karnataka! Mysore Palace is truly a must-visit destination that perfectly blends royal heritage and stunning design. The intricate carvings, majestic halls, and rich history reflect the grandeur of the Wodeyar dynasty. The palace is well-maintained, and the evening illumination is absolutely breathtaking — it feels like stepping into a fairytale! A royal experience during Dasara! We visited Mysore Palace in the evening during the Dasara festival, and it was absolutely magical. The entire palace was glowing with lights, and the sunset made the view even more breathtaking. The atmosphere was festive, vibrant, and full of energy — a perfect blend of tradition and celebration. The palace grounds were clean and well-organized, and the staff managed the crowd efficiently. A must-visit place if you’re in Mysuru, especially during Dasara evenings — it truly showcases the royal charm of Karnataka!
Yadu K — Google review
What a beautiful palace. Lived up to my expectations. We went a little late in the evening after sunset but made it right on time for the light show and story telling. Some people walked off half way through cause without visuals it was hard to connect the dots in the storyline but the Palace lighting was beautiful. Really enjoyed it.
Santosh S — Google review
Among all the historical palaces I’ve explored, none compare to the breathtaking grandeur of Mysore Palace. Its true magic unfolds during the Dussehra festival, when tradition and splendor come alive. If you’re a history buff with a passion for travel, this gem belongs on your must-visit list.
Deepak P — Google review
If you’re in Mysuru, the palace is definitely worth a visit. It offers a rich blend of royal heritage, architecture and spectacle (especially when lit at night). For best experience: go earlier in the day or just before evening illumination, allow 2–3 hours, and try to avoid the peak crowds.
Avinash U — Google review
Mysore Palace,a stunning blend of history, architecture, and royal grandeur. The intricate carvings, vibrant stained glass, and majestic domes showcase the rich heritage of the Wadiyar dynasty. Whether visited by day or illuminated at night, the palace feels truly regal and awe-inspiring. It’s well maintained, and the audio guide adds great context to the experience. A must-visit landmark that beautifully captures the essence of Karnataka’s royal legacy. Recommendations:- 1.Buy tickets at WhatsApp to avoid long line 2.Avoide visiting on weekends & Holidays

Great view of palace inside. Enjoyed the place, things kept on display. The internal architecture, design of material are commendable. One improvement is they charged additional rs 50/- for seeing the tipus asana which need not charged.

The Jaganmohan Palace, also known as the Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, is a historic site located near Mysore City Bus Stand. Originally built in 1861 as a royal retreat, it now houses an impressive art gallery featuring paintings, carvings, and other artifacts. The palace showcases a diverse collection of artworks including paintings by renowned artists like Raja Ravi Varma and Col. Scot, depicting scenes from Hindu epics and historical conflicts.
One of the finest art galleries in india !!!! Must see if you are in mysore. The front building is an auditorium which is opened only during some occasions ... The actual art gallery is behind this auditorium. It's a renovated old palace wherein the royals of mysore lived when the old wodden palace got burner down.... Tickets are to be bought at the entrance of the complex. The art gallery has 2 or 3 floors At the ground floor there is the clock collection of the king , ivory artwork , sculptures of the kings and many many big paintings of royals and the events they took part in.... These paintings are very big and old and truely are soo beautiful Photos are fully prohibited inside the gallery ❌❌❌ so couldn't take any .... Nonethless it was a feast for the eyes The architecture of the building too is very pretty .... Soo many wooden structures , tall columns and multiple chandeliers... The whole setting is just too aesthetic. As you go up there's a gallery of artwork by artists of various art schools like Bengali art school etc.... There's a whole section of Raja Ravi verma's artwork .... The highest amount of his art in one place in india ? ..... They are soo large and soo soo beautiful ... Completely mesmerizing!!!! Words could not describe how surreal the paintings felt when seen in real life. There are many other artwork of various artists ... In another floor there's a whole room of wooden structures which are ornatley carved. seating , cupboards and many many more ...very royal in elegance ... Another room is filled with various objects of royal patronage like corals, royal utensils like glassware and many more In last floor there's a room filled with board games of olderm times and musical instruments used and preserved by the royal family. The room is completley wallpapered which makes it look soo beautiful. All in all... The place is heavily underrated as not much crowd was present when we visited .... It's truely a gem of a place.... A gallery of royal opulence and elegance of the highest order.. loved it through and through !

It's a great visiting place in Mysore, you can see very rare Drawings of Raja Ravivarma here which you should not miss. There is an entry ticket cost ₹75 per adult but it's worth to see. You have good car parking available. Staff is very cooperative and polite. You can see great collection of kings family. You can see their family tree as paintings on walls. Very good wooden steps etc... give a try when you visit Mysore

The Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, housed within the magnificent Jaganmohan Palace, is an essential stop for any history or art enthusiast visiting Mysuru. This stunning three-storied palace, constructed in 1861 in the traditional Hindu style of architecture, initially served as an alternate residence for the Wodeyar royal family after the old Mysore Palace was destroyed by fire. It was later converted into an art gallery in 1915 by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, and eventually renamed in honor of Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar. Stepping inside the former palace is like walking through a chronicle of South Indian art and royal history. The collection, considered one of the largest and most significant in South India, features over 2000 artifacts. Its pride and joy is an exquisite compilation of original paintings by the legendary Raja Ravi Varma, depicting captivating scenes from Hindu epics, alongside works from the traditional Mysore, Mughal, and Shantiniketan schools of art. You can also admire unique items like a French clock mechanism that features a miniature soldier parade every hour and paintings so fine they are made on a grain of rice. The palace itself, with its intricate carvings and historical murals (including an early depiction of the famous Mysore Dasara), provides a beautiful backdrop to the exhibits. To fully appreciate the gallery's treasures and the palace's architectural beauty, a peaceful morning visit is highly recommended. The general timing is from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily, making it a convenient stop. Visitors typically spend 1 to 2 hours here. If you appreciate fine art, historical context, and royal heritage, this museum is a fascinating and worthwhile detour from the more crowded Mysore Palace.
Sreedevi B — Google review
The palace is beautiful and rich in history, showcasing traditional architecture and a large collection of paintings, especially those by Raja Ravi Varma. The art gallery is impressive and well worth seeing for anyone interested in culture and heritage. However, the place could be better maintained. Still, it's a must-visit spot in Mysore to explore the city's royal and artistic past.

Jaganmohan Palace, also known as Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, is one of the best historical places in Mysore. The gallery showcases beautiful paintings, royal artifacts, and even musical instruments used by Sri Krishnaraja Wadiyar. A must-visit palace to explore the rich art and history of the Mysore kings 👑🎨
Ramesh P — Google review
Very beautiful and quiet place. From outside it looks like a place that doesn't offer us a lot but as soon as we went inside, it was huge. So many paintings and show pieces were present. Very intricately done and well preserved. This place is a must visit 🤩
Priyanka S — Google review
Jaganmohan Palace, also known as Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, is a stunning blend of royal heritage and artistic grandeur. For just 75 INR, visitors can marvel at exquisite paintings by Raja Ravi Varma, which leave a lasting impression. The palace itself, dating back to 1861, boasts beautiful traditional Hindu architecture and intricate carvings. One captivating highlight is the magnificent clock—an architectural marvel that adds charm to the historic ambiance. A must-visit for art lovers and history enthusiasts alike.

Melody World Wax Museum is a charming attraction in Mysore, dedicated to music and housed in a heritage building since 2010. The museum features over 300 musical instruments from around the world, making it the largest collection of its kind in Karnataka. Visitors can explore 19 galleries showcasing approximately one hundred life-like wax effigies of renowned musicians representing various music genres.
A wonderful and unique museum experience! Melody World Wax Museum beautifully combines music, art, and history. The wax figures of famous musicians and themed musical setups are crafted with great detail. The background music adds to the atmosphere, making it feel lively and engaging. A perfect place for families, kids, and music lovers to explore and enjoy. 🎶✨
Md R — Google review
The whole concept of this is worth appreciating. The idea of wax statues to hold the real traditional musical instruments is just awesome. The maintenance is not that great. They could have arranged decent rooms. Also the add-ons are good. Worth place to visit once
Sai V — Google review
The Melody Wax Museum in Mysore has a mix of small attractions — Wax Museum, Chocolate Museum, Mirror Museum, and Horror Museum 🎶🍫🪞👻. Each section is interesting, but everything feels very small and limited. The wax figures are okay, but some need better finishing and lighting. The Chocolate Museum is nice to see once, but not much to explore 🍫. The Mirror and Horror Museums are fun for a few minutes but over too soon. Overall, it’s neat and clean, and good for a quick family stop — but not a place to spend much time. Worth visiting once if you’re already nearby. 👍
RecTo — Google review
Please be careful while you are going to visit....I was faulty visited this place instead of Wax museum, i didn't see melody wax museum exactly. This place is good if you are planning with kids otherwise for adults wax museum is best where wax statues available of so many celebrities. I melody wax museum so many types of musical instruments was available of so many countries and cultures. Entry ticket was 50rs per person.
Ankur U — Google review
Amazing collection. Privately owned by a collector This place has a little for everyone. Tickets are ₹340 for all activites. The wax museum, has figures made of wax, but the museum is dedicated to musical instrument and hence the melody in the name. There are nearly 3,000+ musical instruments. The owner is a collector and has some of the rarest of the rare instruments. Photography was allowed You can play drums for a few minutes for another ₹50 The mirror maze, its very small but fun for kids. No photography allowed The chocolate museum is awesome, it shows the whole process of how chocolate is made by using wax and chocolate statues and each step of how cocoa is turned into chocolate. They do have a chocolate shop with a good variety of chocolates. Vortex, amazing. Best experience. I have done a lot of adventures and this was a good 10 seconds of my experience. Basically there is a bridge inside a large drum which keep rotating. And you have to walk in the bridge. When you walk on the bridge, it feels as if the bridge is rotating. Mind trick games Horror house, okay and decent one. Too dark, thet should atleast out some indicators on the ground or bottom of the walls so that no one gets hurt. But a lot of efforts was made into making it and there are atleast 12-15 sections. Most horror houses I have gone to have no more than 3-4. So good for smaller kids. I would surely buy tickets for chocolate, wax and vortex. The mirror and horror house maybe for kids. Oh, and they have statues made for a lot of cartoon characters. It would be fun for kid
Sameer S — Google review
This museum is a privately operated wax museum. The collection is modest in scale compared to major international wax museums. realism, finishing, and craftsmanship fall short of international standards.Affordable entry.

Mysuru Zoo has gradually grown into tourist centre, imparting wildlife values. It has got 123 years of history exhibiting wild animals in the near natural enclosures. Despite majority of the zoos have been shifted from the original place to the new places, Mysuru Zoo could modernize the zoo, without shifting the zoo. The zoo is well compacted unit, with modern animal enclosures including heritage buildings attracting tourists all over the world.Great place to visit with kids above 5 years, they really appreciate the variety of birds, animals and reptiles. It took us 4 hours to complete the walk around the entire Zoo, which included a 30 min break at the cafeteria, just to rest. The food at the cafeteria is primarily south Indian food, which didn't intrigue us much, since we were eating the same for the last couple of days. Make sure you wear the most comfortable shoes if you plan to walk, and carry a bottle, so you can fill it up at the watering stations, which are well spaced out, carry a cap, it's not too hot though cause of all the trees. There is also a buggy option, however they cover the entire Zoo in an hour and you don't get time to spend at each exhibit, it's a quick tour. The zoo doesn't permit plastics, or outside food, they check the bags at the entrance post buying your tickets.

Mysore Zoo is a wonderful place for animal lovers and those interested in studying wildlife. The zoo is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully organized with separate sections for birds, reptiles, wild animals, and more. Visitors can explore the zoo on foot, covering approximately 3 kilometers, or opt for electric buggies for convenience. I will recommend it by foot if you can make it, so you can manage where to spend time. The entry fee is ₹100 per person. The lush greenery throughout the zoo provides a soothing and refreshing atmosphere. The walkways are beautifully designed, making the visit even more enjoyable. It's a must-visit destination, especially for families with kids, offering a unique and memorable experience to spend quality time together.

Visiting Mysuru can never be complete without this zoo in the list. It is a must visit for children and animal lovers alike. It boasts a vast collection of animals and birds in its premises and one of the large zoos in the whole of south India. It is pram friendly. Great to visit all through the day. There were options for adopting animals. It is a nice initiative in making children understand the nuances of contributing to the society.

Really loved the zoo. Very nicely maintained, clean and you see so many wild life. Weekends can be crowded. No food allowed inside the zoo but they have filtered water taps inside. restrooms are there however they are not clean and I dont blame the staff completely, I saw them cleaning but people have hard time maintaining cleanliness in public space in our country. But overall you will have a fun family time, especially kids are going to love to see the animals.

Mysuru Zoo is a good place to visit, especially for families and kids. The zoo is well-organized, and there are many animals to see, including some rare species. However, it can get quite crowded, and some areas need better maintenance. Also, the walking distance is long, so it can be tiring during hot weather. Overall, it’s a decent experience but could be improved in terms of cleanliness and facilities.

Good place to enjoy with friends . It took almost more than 3 hours to view all the places. Well maintained. The animals were given good food and hygiene. There were variety of birds including the extinct species and the ones imported too.

Lokaranjan Aqua World Underwater Zoo is a popular attraction in Mysore, India, located near the Mysore Zoo. It is known as the largest underwater aquarium in the country and features an impressive "underwater glass tunnel" that provides visitors with a unique underwater experience. The zoo showcases a diverse range of fish species and offers an engaging environment for both children and adults to learn about marine life.
Visited this place after the zoo since it's located within a short walking distance. The ticket prices are reasonable and worth it. Entry is free for kids under 90cm in height. You can easily spend one to two hours here. Parking is available, which is convenient
Uttam — Google review
Nice setup but not worth the hype. The underwater tunnel and colorful fish are good for one-time experience, especially for kids. But the ticket price is too high (₹300 per person) for what you get. The place is clean and maintained okay, but the overall vibe is just average — nothing special or wow. Feels more like a quick visit place, not something you’d go back to again. Would recommend only if you're visiting with children or want to see it once for the tunnel. For solo travelers or couples, it may feel overpriced and underwhelming. Pros: Good for kids, colorful fish, underwater tunnel Cons: Overpriced tickets, small area, normal

Review – Lokaranjan Aqua World Underwater Zoo Lokaranjan Aqua World Underwater Zoo is an interesting place to explore with a good collection of aquatic species. One of the conveniences for visitors is the free parking facility, which makes the visit hassle-free. That said, there is still room for improvement. The staff could be more friendly and welcoming, which would enhance the overall experience. At a few spots, I also noticed a slight bad odour, which should be addressed for better comfort. The adult entry fee of 290 per person feels a bit high, especially considering these areas of improvement. With better hospitality and more attention to cleanliness, this attraction has the potential to offer a truly enjoyable and memorable experience for all visitors.
Rahul R — Google review
Lokaranjan Aqua World is one of those places that truly surprises you. I visited it with my wife and son, and we had a wonderful time exploring it together. Compared to Bangalore, which is often crowded and filled with overhyped attractions charging high ticket prices, this place felt calm, enjoyable, and affordable. The entry fee was just ₹300 per person, which is quite reasonable considering the experience you get. Inside, there were plenty of fish to see — from small, colorful ones to some larger and more exotic varieties. I visited during the Dasara festival, so I’m not entirely sure if they had added more fish for the festive season, but the displays were quite impressive nonetheless. The setup was clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasant experience for families. Some of the standout attractions were the beautifully painted walls, the fish tunnel (which my son especially loved), a small bridge, fountains, and an eye-catching entrance area that gives you a good first impression. The whole place feels thoughtfully designed and vibrant, creating a refreshing change from the usual urban attractions. Kids, in particular, will definitely enjoy their time here — the colors, the movement of the fish, and the overall ambiance make it fun and engaging. While it might not be a place you’d visit repeatedly, it’s certainly worth going at least once. It’s a relaxing, family-friendly spot that offers good value for money and a nice break from the city rush.

We had a wonderful experience at Lokaranjan Aqua World Underwater Zoo! 🌊🐠 We got to see many different kinds of beautiful fishes and marine creatures , it was truly fascinating. The underwater zone is very well designed and a great place for both children and adults to enjoy. It’s not only fun but also quite educational. A must-visit experience for families and nature lovers! 💙
Bhavana K — Google review
This place is ok . Price is not worth the experience 300 per head, just for the aquarium and though there are many dishes, it doesn't match the mysuru zoo which is fration of the cost and you get to see more. Our driver brought us here on his own and we also observed he got a commission for bringing us here. So if you don't want to see come here feel free to give it a miss and go to zoo directly. The only nice thing here was the opportunity to feed the fish for extra 50 rs, the kids really enjoyed that.
Mk R — Google review
This is a really nice place to visit. They have a lot of different kinds of fish there, including some truly exotic species. It's a little pricier than other options, but my child actually enjoyed it more than the zoo itself.

Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion, located on the University of Mysore campus, is a historical treasure that was initially constructed in 1905 as a gift for Princess Jayalakshmi Ammani. Renovated and reopened as a museum in 2016, it now houses a remarkable collection of artifacts and crafts. The mansion's main attraction is the Mysuru maharani's saloon, an exquisite wood-paneled room dating back to 1899.
This place has three floors of vintage artwork from privileged painters from Wadiyar Era. You wish you were Jayalakshmi Ammani after visiting the space. Keep 30 minutes to see the legendary the girl with a lamp artwork. Love the way lights falls through the windows of this heritage structure. Great place for introverts.

You can skip this completely. It shows largely photos of the maharaja and some of his collections. Not so exciting and nothing much in the collections which makes you go wow. The whole layout is disorganised for larger groups and can possibly accommodate smaller groups at a given point in time. The shops are on the complete opposite side where no tourist would visit and go and the whole back and front yard was not at all maintained. They could do a better job but possibly no one is interested in running it. A coupe of things were Unique and possibly worth millions. I have not seen it anywhere else in the world. I think one was the clock and the other was the musical instrument, similar in church. If it were functional, it would be a crowd pleaser. One other thing was a rice drawing which was good. Overall needs no more than 20 minutes and can be skipped.

Declared as a heritage building by the Karnataka Government, Jayalakshmi Vilas Palace is one of the most spectacular palaces of Mysore, the cultural capital of the state. Located in Manasagangothri, Tourists often club both these sightseeing places on a single visit. Initially called ‘First Rajkumari Mansion’, Jayalakshmi Vilas Palace was built for princess Jayalakshammanni who was the eldest daughter of Maharaja Chamaraja Wodeyar. The palace has three museums, each presenting a display of rare crafts and arts. Various wings of the palace are connected through arched porticos. The first floor of the palace has Goddess Bhuvaneswari statue placed under a domed cover on its southern side. Towards the northern side, a statue of Goddess Lakshmi has been placed. Even during that period, the palace had separate drainage system for used water and rainwater, which showcase its architecture fineness. The grand interiors of this palace represent Indian style of décor. One can see exquisite carvings, breathtaking mouldings and arts beautifying the interiors of this palace. The opening timings of the Jayalakshmi Palace are from 10 AM to 1 PM and in evening from 3 PM to 5 PM. Photography is prohibited inside the palace complex.
