Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Tacos Chiwas is a family-owned Mexican eatery that has quickly become a favorite in the local Phoenix food scene since its opening in 2016. Specializing in the cuisine of Chihuahua, Mexico, this cozy spot offers a focused menu featuring freshly-pressed tortilla tacos like Lengua and tripas. The homemade gorditas are also a must-try, especially when filled with rajas and melted queso asadero.
Like most taco joints, it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s not supposed to. It’s what’s inside that counts, specifically, inside the tacos, which Guy Fieri learned when Tacos Chiwas was featured on one of my favorite TV shows, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It was also featured on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles. We shared the Pollo, Pastor, and Camaron tacos. They were all excellent and the house-made corn tortillas were well stuffed with each ingredient. Order at the counter and they bring them to your table, pronto. Next time, we’ll sit at the bar, which is more of a diner throwback. Besides tacos, the menu offers burritos (breakfast and regular) and quesadillas, all of which are served on house-made flour tortillas. The bar offers Margaritas, other cocktails, and beer. There’s also a spacious, walled, pet-friendly outdoor patio. We’ll be back, either sitting at the bar or with our dogs on the patio. Suggestion: add a nonspicy sauce, like an Avo Crema for people who don’t like much spice, like me. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

As someone visiting from Florida—where Mexican tacos are just okay—Tacos Chiwas was a refreshing surprise. These tacos are far superior to what I’m used to back home and came very close to the quality of my all-time favorite, Tacos El Gordo. I went all out and tried every taco on the menu: • Asada • Pollo • Pastor • Lengua • Carnitas • Tripas • Tacos Chiwas • Barbacoa • Calabacitas • Camarón • Chicharrón (today’s special) The meat-based tacos were flavorful and delicious—especially the lengua, pastor, and barbacoa. The chicken and shrimp tacos were a bit on the mild side for my taste, but once I added their house salsas, everything balanced out nicely. To wash it down, I had a Jamaica and a Horchata—both refreshing and a perfect pairing with the meal. Prices are reasonable, too—most tacos are just $3.49, which is awesome for the quality. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. If you’re in Phoenix and craving authentic tacos, Tacos Chiwas is absolutely worth the stop!

I hate giving the 3 star for atmosphere because it’s a great place it’s just the kind of place that it is. You want fancy atmosphere? This isn’t the place if you love and appreciate tacos and don’t care about fine dining snooty atmosphere run to this place. Food was amazing, the people were great, the seating was a little awkward but everything else made it a moot point.
Danielle M — Google review
Very pricy tacos, but delicious! The chicharron, tripa and shrimp tacos are the bomb. I have my reservations about the tortillas, not quite right, but on this side of the border you can't complain. The salsas are superlative, very tasty and spicy, as they should be.

I saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Since it is in Phoenix area where I live I wanted to give it a shot. Nice open spot with a lovely covered parking area if you can grab a space. The ordering is normally counter, but we sat at the bar to circumvent. The service was very attentive and friendly. We tried to order what we like and some of what Guy tried. We ordered tacos barbacoa 4.5/5, asada 3.5/5, pastor 3/5. We tried gorditas rajas 3.5/5 and picadillo 3.5/5. We had elote 4/5. We were still hungry and had a quesadilla asada 4/5 (however way too expensive at $10 for what we received). The margaritas were very tasty.
Ron R — Google review
This place was recommended by a coworker and it did not disappoint. Coming from Southern California it has been difficult finding authentic Mexican food! We ordered 6 tacos and an elote (carne asada, pollo, pastor, barbacoa, taco chiwas, & calibacitas). My personal favorite was the pastor (surprisingly) it was well seasoned and tender. The pollo was my least favorite because it was a bit dry. The elote was really good too! We also had a a variety of margaritas and a michelada. The hibiscus and passion fruit margarita was a 10/10 (make sure you try one or both)! And I can’t forget about the salsas! The salsa rojo was very spicy but I enjoyed it. I’d give this a 5 stars but I don’t like that you have to get back up and get in line to order additional drinks or food. Other than that this place is definitely worth a visit and staff is very friendly. I’m happy we visited this place and despite my small dislike we will definitely be back!

Craving bomb, authentic Mexican street tacos? 🌮🔥 You have to hit up Tacos Chiwas—featured on Taco Chronicles Season 3 on Netflix 👏✨ They’ve got a few spots around the Valley, but I checked out the one on Indian School Rd. As soon as you walk in, you order, grab your number, and find a seat—super chill vibes and bonus: dog-friendly patio 🐾🌵 I went in on full taco mode: Carne Asada Tacos Lengua Taco Tacos Chiwas (signature pick 👌) And a super cheesy quesadilla 🧀 I seriously can’t even pick a fave—everything was insanely good. The meat was so soft and flavorful, and they’ve got a little salsa bar to spice things up just right. 🌶️ Already planning my next visit to try more from the menu 😋 📍: Tacos Chiwas – Indian School Rd, Phoenix 🎥: As seen on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles 🌮 🌵: Full bar + patio vibes

Tacos Chiwas is a true taste of home. Tacos Chiwas is without question one of my favorite places to eat in the entire country. As someone who values authenticity, I was initially skeptical. But from the very first bite, I was instantly transported back home. The flavors are honest, comforting, and deeply rooted in tradition. Every time I visit Phoenix, I make it a point to eat at Tacos Chiwas. Their gorditas remind me of meals at my aunt’s house, and the guisados taste just like something my abuela would make. The food is rich, soulful, and undeniably real. This place lives up to its name and delivers even more. I highly recommend going out of your way to experience this hidden gem. It is more than just a meal. It is a return to tradition.

La Santisima is a vibrant Mexican eatery known for its gourmet tacos, corn quesadillas, and burritos, as well as margaritas. The restaurant prides itself on using high-quality ingredients and offering inventive flavor combinations in its dishes. It offers a lighter alternative to traditional deep-fried and cheese-laden Mexican cuisine. La Santisima has gained popularity, even catching the attention of Guy Fieri for his show 'Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.'
Went here from my daughter’s birthday absolutely amazing atmosphere food was out of this world 🌎 so many different salsa bar to try will definitely be going back my son had shark 🦈 tacos 🌮

Solid Mexican spot. The horchata was fantastic. The restaurant serves a huge variety of tacos. I got 5 tacos and some were amazing and some were mediocre. This would be a 5 star review if they would slim down their selection to their best tacos.

Great place - great art, great food! Awesome variety of fresh made salsas - love the Blanco habanero and the Negro habanero, hot and flavorful! House guacamole is unique and definitely worth trying. Great menu!
Peter H — Google review
Not sure how we missed this before, great place especially for vegetarian, vegans. A entire menu that is dedicated ( green menu) to vegetarian and vegan options , and that is 6 pages of options, i could barely try 3 and they were fantastic. And the salsa bar is self service and so many truly different salsa’s and mild to super hot! My favorite mexican food in the valley now.
Naresh R — Google review
I loved the food and massive food options. Don’t get overwhelmed by large menu. Amazing waitress explained menu to us and it was amazing. Atmosphere is stellar and love the authentic plate ware.
Christopher P — Google review
Lives up to the DDD hype!. This was a fantastic experience. The food was authentic, the service was heartfelt and the vibe is just cool.. We had a great sampling of tacos; the black mole with pork, the tiger shrimp, the brisket and the carne asada. All were amazing. We didn't drink, but the tequila bar and margarita menu looked awesome.
Ron E — Google review
If someone shows me a great photo, I'm probably going to try the food. La Santisima posted a photo for their items for Vegetarian Week. This was a special of 3 veggie tacos with a side of rice and black beans for $15 plus tax. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with artwork. They have an extensive salsa bar. They even have a pine nut salsa. I tried the Mayan Cochinita Vegan, Aztec Tinga Vegan, and the Santisima Veggie tacos. Each of the tacos were tasty and had layered flavors. I really liked the Santisima Veggie taco. It was probably my favorite. I did not try the vegan cheese.

Taco Guild is a unique dining spot located in an old church in Central Phoenix, offering sustainable Mexican cuisine, craft beer, and an extensive selection of tequila. The restaurant gained recognition when it was featured on the show 'Burgers, Brews & Que,' where its award-winning duck taco with fried brie and fire-roasted apricot compote was highlighted.
I loved the architecture of this restaurant, the stain-glass windows and high wood-paneled ceiling. The service was amazing. The tacos are about $8-12 each. Rice and beans are an extra $4 each. The California taco was delicious with lots of meat but the fish and the scallop taco didn't have very little of the seafood. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. Appetizers are $2 off during happy hour.

This was my first time but definitely not my last. We didn’t want to fight rush hour after a flight into PHX so we grabbed dinner on a Friday night. The food was amazing from order to table was no more than 15 minutes! The server was amazing and attentive! The atmosphere was a vibe. The music by Jeremiah Gold was wonderful. To catch the live music go Friday or Saturday night 6-8pm.
Mindy T — Google review
The drinks were fantastic — strong, flavorful, and definitely not watered down! The salsas were all great, with the habanero being my favorite for its perfect balance of sweet and heat. I do wish the chips were made fresh instead of coming from a grocery bag, but everything else made up for it. The lamb and cherry steak tacos were absolutely delicious — unique, tender, and full of flavor. Service was excellent, and the ambiance made for a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be back!
S L — Google review
Watch out for that pepper, even for heat lovers this one can sneak up on you and it lingers. Must get: street corn ON the cob and a prickly pear margarita. But the frozen margaritas are a local fave and you get more for your buck, it too has a punch and can linger. My favorite taco is the salmon but try them all until you find your favorite! I love the story and history behind this locally owned gem. Overall great experience every single time!
Pamela H — Google review
Taco Guild is a top tier restaurant that serves the most amazing tacos in the Phoenix region. They have the perfect blend of food, drinks and atmosphere. Started with queso and chips which was flavorful and creamy and just the right smoothness as to not break the chips when tou dip them. Tried the Steak taco with blue cheese and jalapeño onion straws, the shrimp taco and the cod taco. All were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The designer really knows how to blend the flavors well. The atmosphere is great for relaxing and having a meal with firends. The sound levels are well managed even though the restaurant is a convert old church which is pretty cool because it has stained glass windows and high ceilings. You can have a conversation without shouting. The restaurant also has a full service bar with some nice options for signature drinks. And if you like tequila, this is the place for you. The feature over 100 different types of tequila. They also have beer and wine. They are a pet friendly venue. The patio outside is a nice space to bring your 4 legged friends. The service was very good too. The staff was friendly and gave great suggestions. There is a free parking lot. This is definitely a place to eat if you want to say you had the best Phoenix has to offer. Would definitely go back to try even more of their taco options whenever in Phoenix.
ADSN T — Google review
If only words could explain how much this place impressed me. As a man from Dallas, I will say the food is not traditional but its transcendent of regular food. The combination of the service the food and the atmosphere are something everyone should have. The cherry Chipotle steak taco made me believe in God again.
Daniel P — Google review
The reason for the 3 stars in atmosphere isn't for how the place looks but how you feel... man oh man its HOT in there. I was here for a birthday for my mother couldn't enjoy myself. But I had a saint of a waitress who brought me a portable fan. She was also wearing a fan.. Everyone at my table had to pass the fan around because we were physically DRIPPING sweat. But the tacos were great! Salsa fresh!

Enjoyed our experience here. Their salsa was flavorful. Also loved Guacamole and tacos we got. Great for celebrating or date time! ✨️

Restaurant
Taco Chelo is a trendy spot in downtown Phoenix that offers a blend of street and gourmet tacos. The menu features eight options, including the popular Costra taco with carne asada, caramelized cheese, and onions on a freshly-made tortilla. The restaurant's art-focused atmosphere adds to its appeal, and it's backed by renowned Arizona chef Aaron Chamberlin.
Taco Chelo in downtown Phoenix is officially on my top taco spots list! I had both the shrimp tacos and the carne asada tacos and let me just say, they nailed it. The shrimp tacos were different in the best way bold flavor, a little twist I didn’t expect, but really enjoyed. And the asada? Juicy, seasoned just right, and full of flavor. But the real MVP? Their handmade tortillas. You can taste the difference. Fresh, soft, and they tie everything together perfectly. There’s no shortage of taco spots in Phoenix, but Taco Chelo stands out not just for the food, but for the vibe. You can tell it’s got that local, family-run heart behind it. And as someone who supports mom-and-pop businesses any chance I get, this place hit home. I’ll definitely be back and bringing people with me.
David M — Google review
Legit the best tacos EVER. Surprise favorite taco is the veggie taco. The Costra will blow your socks off. The salsas - delish. But the best thing on the menu is definitely the Flamingos! The food was sooooo good we didn’t get any pics of it before we demolished it! But cheers to Joshua — best service hands down!
Andrea L — Google review
Really relaxed vibe, decent location to other restaurants and bars in downtown Phoenix. Food was good, parking is a hit or miss for close spots. Chicken tacos were very good and the barbacoa quesidilla was delicious. Got their Picosa drink which was delicious as well.
Alexis S — Google review
The smell hits you when you walk in, and you know it's going to be good before you taste it. The place was good. Clean. Stephanie and her husband own it. Grace runs the place when Stephanie isn't there. And they know what they're doing. These people, God bless them, have committed the radical act of using healthy oils instead of the industrial sludge most places pump into your arteries. No seed oils, they promised, and I believed them because Stephanie had that look people get when they're telling the truth about something they actually care about. The tortillas are pressed fresh, in an open kitchen you can watch. Not in some factory in Ohio three months ago, and not from a bag with an ingredient list longer than the Constitution. Everything made to order. No shortcuts. The tacos came out hot and they were the best I'd had in a long time. Simple ingredients done right. The way it should be. I'll drive back there. Good food is worth the drive.
Christopher S — Google review
I'm actually surprised I've never stopped by this place cuz the smell alone when walking past it is incredible. They have a really good selection for happy hour, tacos and drinks. Their carnitas is absolutely delicious. I also tried their veggie taco and it is really good. I'd 100% recommend this place.
Leena M — Google review
Great experience here on a Monday evening. Parking wasn't an issue as we just parked on the street nearby. There were plenty of meters open. Not a long wait at all and plenty of seating there. We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the weather. Had a bunch of tacos--carnitas, barbacoa, costra, chicken. Tortillas were soft and warm with great texture. Generous fillings were delicious. We especially liked the costra. That caramelized cheese and onion were just perfect. Washed it down with a pumpkin spice horchata. We'll definitely return.
Jon — Google review
Taco Chelo was a nice experience, I had the carnitas taco and my wife had an asada taco. They were both good, the salsas were lacking some flavor in my opinion. Even tried their new hotter one and didn’t think the kick was very much. Not sure I’d seek this place out but wouldn’t be sad if I was in the area and we ended up here. The service was friendly, real small place so had to sit outside in a lot of heat had misters at least. Bathroom is down an outdoor walkway and need a key just an FYI.
Connor L — Google review
Stopped by during my lunch break this week and was met by music - pouring loudly into the restaurant. I ordered my meal and sat down, and quickly realized how much louder the music got and fellow patrons raised their own voices to be able to chat amongst themselves. The food itself was a tad underwhelming. The frijoles had much more “add-ins” than beans, the fried shrimp taco was not as expected but rather a minced mash of shrimp. The quesadilla con carne asada seemed to be the only item that was full of flavor and worth its price. Overall I was bummed at the quality of the food and atmosphere.

CRUjiente Tacos is a trendy spot offering modern tacos and Mexican small plates, along with a variety of craft cocktails, tequila, and bourbon. The restaurant is renowned for its nationally recognized street-style tacos and an array of refreshing margarita options.
Excellent tacos! We got the beef, pork, pork belly, lamb, and fried chicken. All were really good. A bit of spice but not too much! I’m glad we got to experience this place before it waved goodbye!
Setha P — Google review
Great tacos and cocktails but just a little overpriced. They recently added a couple of new items on their menu, would love to go back and try those. Also wish it was possible to sub soft tortilla for the hard shell tacos. The shredded meat in all three was delicious! My favorite was the steak taco but for $11 I expected it to be a little bigger. Overall great spot for gourmet tacos.
Lata A — Google review
these tacos... wow. Delicious and the margs are FRESH. The only down side is that they are a little expensive, even during happy hour. We intentionally went between 4-6 to get HH at the bar thinking it would help our wallet. There was only 1 Marg on HH - the basic which again was delicious but still $9 when originally i ts $11. There were also only 3 tacos on HH - crispy beef was our fav. We also wanted to try the others but had to pay full price. Korean Fried chicken is a must try! it's tucked in a shopping center so don't miss it! Service was attentive, friendly and quick, Robert behind the bar is a master at his craft and clearly knows how to make an amazing drink. Heather was also a treat, easy to talk to, gave amazing recommendations and super friendly without being overly in our space. The coconut marg was super popular the night we were there. The spicy marg they always asked how spicy you wanted it which I appreciate, and my fav was the fresh mint + cucumber (i forget what its called) but wow was it good. These margs are dangerous in the fact that they go down so smooth. Would give it 5 stars if the price was a little better.

Delicious tacos, fantastic service and yummy margaritas. Make sure to add your name to the waitlist list via Yelp, or you'll do it at the door when you arrive. The hostess and our server were wonderful! I have to eat gluten free due to celiac and they were very knowledgeable. Thanks for the great food and service!

Delicious tacos!! Yum!! I especially loved the fried tacos but they were all delicious, especially the pork tacos! 👌🏼❤️ The bartender made an awesome margarita for me!! Will definitely come back for more! Very cute and classy decor. Beautiful bar. Great comfy seating. Even the bathroom doors have fun art on it! They have an awesome happy hour too!! Next time I will come back for more tacos and margaritas of course, but also the cheese and chorizo, Mexican corn and guacamole are on my list!!
Kristine J — Google review
The Happy Hour food and drinks are amazing. All the tacos are hand crafted with expertise and precision. These are good-sized tacos for those who are very hungry. The chips and guacamole are great, as well as the queso dip with chorizo. I will warn people that the beef taco is made with a very hot sauce, so if you need to ask for a mild version, do not hesitate to ask, and they will always accommodate your request. They open at 4 pm, and you need to beat the rush to get a table or a seat at the long bar. The restaurant itself is not very big, so seating is not guaranteed. They do not accept reservations, but they do have a waiting list for the experience. The bartender is highly attentive to your needs if you sit at the bar. The margaritas are excellent. I've had the pork, lamb, and beef taco. All of them are delicious. During Happy Hour, you get $1 of listed tacos and $2 off most appetizers. The parking lot can be a little tight, so plan ahead. I recommend the ceviche or the queso with chorizo to start. Please enjoy this neighborhood gem.

Happy hour 4-6 and 9-close. Pricey side of taco world but good flavors. Happy hour isn’t much but if you go on a Monday for $8 margs or other day of the week they have a deal is bang for your buck. The lamb CRUjiente taco had awesome flavor and the crunch of the tacos is something you don’t get often or rarely. The salsas had delicious flavors and heat. The margs are good and the service was great and on point.

New favorite place for happy hour! This may be a “tacos only” place, but each taco has so much flavor!! Each taco takes you on a completely different adventure than the last. The tacos are small and pricey, but totally worth it! The details that go into the flavors all the way down the the plating were just impressive. One of the best margaritas I’ve ever had. You have to try the Korean Fried Chicken, Pork Belly, Seared Shrimp, and Braised Short Rib Tacos!! The Queso & Guac were solid choices as well. We can’t wait to go back and try the Smothered Frites Street Fries. Highly recommend for some artisanal tacos!!

Taco Boy's is a vibrant Mexican eatery founded in 2019 by Singh Sodhi and Juan Cornejo Pena, known for its lively atmosphere and bold Mexican-American style. With multiple locations across the valley, it has garnered a strong fanbase. The restaurant offers a variety of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas along with beer and horchata.
This place was recommended by my co-worker. I did order through a delivery service however the food was delicious. I ordered 2 tacos with all the veggies 1 was steak and the other was the shredded beef. Veggies were fresh and I loved that the flour tortilla was not a thick dough. Was just right, I'll be back soon.

I recently visited this place, and I have to say, the tacos and burritos are absolutely delicious! The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. The sauce stand is a standout feature – there's a great variety of sauces to choose from, and everything is well-maintained and clean. Highly recommend this spot.

Went here based on several recommendations. I was looking for a local spot that has great authentic tacos. Boy was I not disappointed! Their food was amazing! I got the carnitas, cabeza, and asada tacos. They cook the meat on an open charcoal flame and was thoroughly impressed with the food. Forgot to take a photo of the food when I got it but I took a picture of the grill. Great atmosphere, great food! A must visit.

This was tough. This was close to a 3 star review. The stars: the pollo and asada. This was surprising as these two are often lacking in flavor. The pollo had nice flavor. The asada was my favorite. Greet flavor and nice char. I would definitely get all asada next time I came. The salsas were all unique and had good flavor. Three of them were mild with the rojo being the hot of the bunch, but nothing too crazy. The duds: the tripa and al pastor taco. The tripa was very chewy and not great flavor. The al pastor had some nice charred pieces but there was almost no flavor. Not sure how that was possible, but it was definitely lacking. The service and staff were friendly and fast. Very relaxed atmosphere. There is limited seating inside and out for as busy as they are during lunch. The salsa bar is tricky as it backs into the line to pay and up to the indoor seating as well as the path to outside seating. Some hits and misses but I’d be back for some asada tacos!

We found this location as a recommended place to eat online while visiting AZ. This place didn't disappoint. It was a little small space to navigate parking wise but we were able to get a parking spot. There was a little line when we got there but it moved quickly. We placed our orders and while waiting helped ourselves to the free condiments area. Our order was ready in under 10 minutes. We took the food to go. It was even more crowded when we left. The food was very good. The large quesadillas were huge and fulfilling. I had to eat my chicken quesadilla in 2 settings. The condiments and sauces were fresh ...we enjoyed the quesadillas and tacos we ordered. It was good and authentic Mexican food.

Taco Boys makes a tasty taco. I had the pastor and my wife had an asada taco. Small place inside but found a table. We enjoyed the toppings bar. Weren’t fans of only getting the one shell with our tacos. They came plenty full to fill a second shell with the fall out. Overall a good experience and definitely would go back.

Had the pastor, Asada, and Pollo tacos. The pastor and Pollo were my favorite. The Pollo vampire and Pollo quesadilla were excellent. The red hot sauce is fire with plenty of fresh condiments. Great and fast service.

The Original Carolina's Mexican Food is a renowned Mexican eatery in Phoenix, known for its traditional dishes served in a casual, counter-serve setting. Established by Manuel and Carolina Valenzuela in the 1950s, this iconic spot has evolved from selling tortillas, burritos, and tamales out of their car to becoming a Valley landmark.
Carolina’s has been my go-to Mexican restaurant in Phoenix for over five years now, and I can confidently say their green chili burrito is one of the best in the city. It’s a staple, packed with flavor, always fresh, and it hits the spot every single time. There’s something about how they prepare it that keeps me coming back. If you know, you know. It’s one of those dishes that’s stood the test of time, and I’m glad it’s still on the menu. The inside seating area is actually really nice, clean, and welcoming. Whether you’re grabbing food to go or sitting down for a meal, the vibe inside always feels just right. It’s casual, but you can tell they put effort into keeping it comfortable. It’s a solid spot for lunch or dinner with family or friends. The staff is friendly too, never had a bad experience with customer service. They keep the line moving and always treat you right. Now, I’ll admit the parking lot could definitely use some love, it’s a little rough. But luckily, you’re not there for the parking. Once you’re inside and have that burrito in front of you, you forget all about the potholes. All in all, Carolina’s is a Phoenix classic, and I’ll keep coming back for as long as they keep doing what they do best.
Kevin C — Google review
Old school cinder block building. The service is friendly and quick. We came here because they won best burrito in Phoenix. The Red Machaca Burro 4.5/5 very good, but the star of the show was the accompanying red hot sauce 5/5.
Ron R — Google review
Very good food. We went at 10:00 AM for breakfast burritos (breakfast foods available until 10:30) but they wouldn’t make us a chorizo/eggs breakfast burrito because breakfast time was “almost over”. The clerk wasn’t very kind about it. However, you could order a chorizo burrito from the lunch menu, but no eggs in it, so it was hard to understand why no chorizo breakfast burrito… The food tasted very good, clean but bare bones dining area (think white walls, concrete floor, folding tables and chairs). Looks ghetto outside, maybe a scary part of town. But they get a lot of business because they’ve been there for so long and the food is good.
Teresa V — Google review
This place was highly recommended by the folks at the FBO at LAS. The food was good and the business was brisk. Very plain decor, but I liked the place!

Original Carolina’s Mexican Food of Phoenix since 1950’s. Everything on the menu is very good. Buy fresh flour tortillas togo. Homemade chorizo. My favorites is OAXACA Burrito or 3 way burrito. A must go.
David B — Google review
Got some burritos delivered, absolutely delicious- the chorizo potato will be something I think about for months! Had to bring home some fresh tortillas back to Seattle. They are massive, on the thinner side- and get all the perfect blistering when heated up on a plancha or a skillet.

I grew up in Az. Returned a couple of weeks ago while on a work trip. It had been 1o years since I had been back to AZ. I knew as soon as I got off the plane, I was going to Carolinas. Just a 10 minute drive from the airport. The food is still amazing!!!! Everything is made from scratch. The tortillas are made in-house. They are amazing. Get a dozen or more to go. A must try restaurant if you love Mexicn food.
Doug L — Google review
I only gave 4 stars because they don't offer items made of pork. I began eating at Carolina's in 2003 when I worked in downtown Phx. It's been 10 years since I've been to this downtown Phx location. It's just as good as I remember. I ordered the machaca red burro. It was good but my tortilla was soggy 5 minutes after receiving my order. I ended up taking it home, removing the meat, and adding it to my own tortilla. The flavor was excellent! I'd say it's the fat that gives it the flavor and also the extra liquid that makes the tortilla soggy. Take the good with the bad. I would recommend Catolina's.

I really enjoyed this taco place! Beautiful decoration, food is pretty good, and great atmosphere. My favourite is the street corn dip!! Fantastic!! The guac and chips are delicious, the chips are fresh!! Their tacos are really good! I had the shrimp and fish which were tasty. Overall, it’s a really nice place to visit and enjoy some chips, margaritas, and tacos.

We love this place. We came here five years ago and have been talking about it ever since. It is just as good now as it was then. Their salsa may be the best we’ve ever had anywhere. That roasted flavor is pretty amazing.

Came in for a quick late night bite and it did not disappoint! Got the crispy fish tacos which are a must, crispy juicy with lots of fun toppings, my server also recommended the shrimp tacos which were also fantastic. Fair price by all means. The tropicale margarita was a bit too sweet/thick for my taste. I’ll definitely be back! Free fresh chips and salsa were a perk!

I had never been to Joyride before, but now I see why my friends sounded so excited when I told them that is the place I selected for our little get-together. There were just under 20 of us, and we were able to reserve one of the outside couch areas, which turned out to be PERFECT. The drinks were amazing and the staff were very friendly and attentive. They even made sure that the things I wanted to pay for went to my bill and the extras went to those who placed the order (i.e., not me), which was a big logistical load off of my mind. I'll definitely be coming back!

Thank you for a great experience!

Amazing tacos - skip the churros. 8/14/25 Update One of my favorite spots in town. I've been here many times over the last six or seven years and I have to let you know that the menu is a bit inconsistent. Find something you really like and it might be off the menu next time. But that's true of the things that aren't so great. I can usually find at least one item I like, but I rarely like everything. Yet I still enjoy the vibe and the service and the prices. So would I recommend it as amazing? No. But it's a local staple that I enjoy.

Ta Carbon is a no frills taqueria that serves some of the best carne asada in Phoenix. The tacos are served with just meat and tortillas, but it's the quality of the meat that makes Ta Carbon so popular. The restaurant also has a salsa bar where you can add onions, cilantro, limes, and of course, salsa to your tacos.
This is the Holy Grail of Tacos. A nice place to enjoy food with a Family Atmosphere. The service is quick and they always get your food made to order. If i could give more stars to Ta Carbon, I would.

Great value tacos. The steak, green chili, and melted cheese taco (taco hazz) is my group’s clear favorite, then the al pastor, then the carne asada. These aren’t the best I had but they are pretty solid. 3 is a good snack.
Sameet S — Google review
I have read and heard a lot of good things about this place. I was very underwhelmed. It is an inextricably busy place set in a defunct fast food restaurant. I love a good salsa bar, but when busy this one tucked in a small corner is nearly unusable. Secondly, is there any hot salsa in Phoenix? We ordered the tacos, hazz 4.5/5, asada 3.5/5, pastor 2.5, barbacoa 1/5, and cabeza 1/5 (the last two had a baby food consistency. I continue to search for truly good Mexican food in Phoenix area.
Ron R — Google review
I tried Tacarbon for the first time and I ordered two carne asada tacos and one taco hazz. The carne asada was full of flavor and grilled just right, and the taco hazz added a nice twist, definitely worth trying if you’re curious. Everything came out quickly, and the staff kept things moving even during the lunch rush. The atmosphere is lively, and the salsa bar is a great bonus. Not quite a five-star wow, but definitely a spot I’d come back to when I’m craving tacos that don’t mess around.
Lane R — Google review
This spot has some of the most authentic Mexican street food in Phoenix with amazing tacos, a loaded salsa bar and meats cooked over wood charcoal. It stays busy with locals which says a lot and while the area isn’t fancy the food is for sure unbeatable.
Helen J — Google review
I came here for dinner on a busy Saturday night, but we still grabbed a booth despite how packed it was. The food was super tasty and authentic, especially the tender lengua and soft corn tortillas, though I had to hit the salad bar for extra flavor.
Imogene B — Google review
Went here for a casual lunch and found the best tacos ever. I just had the barbacoa tacos at Ta’Carbon in Phoenix and honestly, they were the best I’ve ever had. The meat was so flavorful and tender, every bite was insane. Everything tasted super fresh, from the salad bar to all the sauces (which were amazing, btw). You can tell they really care about the quality of the food here. Definitely my new go to taco spot.

If you’re looking for an authentic, no-frills taco experience, Ta’ Carbon is the place to go. I recently tried their Al Pastor and Asada tacos, and both were absolutely fantastic. The Al Pastor was perfectly seasoned, with just the right balance of smoky and sweet flavors, and the marinated pork was tender and juicy. The Asada was equally impressive—charred to perfection and packed with bold, savory taste. The tortillas were soft and fresh, adding the perfect touch to every bite. The small, casual setting gives it a cozy, local vibe, and the service is friendly and quick. Highly recommend for anyone craving some delicious tacos!

Tacos Huicho is a small taco shop and carniceria located in Phoenix, known for its traditional Mexican street fare. The highlight of their menu is the al pastor, a dish made with thin slices of pork shaved from a rotating spit. Tacos Huicho takes pride in perfecting this dish, ensuring that the meat is caramelized and crispy before serving it on warm tortillas with onions and cilantro. Customers praise the flavorful pastor tacos as well as other options like tripas and cabeza.
We asked our car rental rep for recommendation for good tacos near the PHX airport. This was exactly what we were looking for. The taco combos were tasty and portions were just enough. I’m glad we tried the drinks which were delicious. The staff were very helpful and offered great recommendations. Great service and good food after a long flight about 10 mins from the airport.

Tacos Huicho 1941 E Oak St, Phoenix, AZ 85006 I recently discovered Tacos Huicho, conveniently located near my office, and it was a delightful experience! The atmosphere is vibrant, filled with lively music that adds to the cheerful ambiance. I decided to try their combo #1, which comes with three tacos, rice, and beans. For the meats, I chose steak, pork, and tongue, and I must say, each taco was absolutely delicious! The staff were incredibly friendly, making the visit even more enjoyable. I will definitely be returning for more tasty tacos!

Tacos Huicho was a very good experience. What you want in a taco shop. No frills just good grub. I had the Al pastor taco which was one of my favorite street tacos I’ve had, the sweet pineapple chunks with the savory pork is exquisite. Also had the best hot salsa with some real growing heat behind it. My wife had an asada taco she really enjoyed with the guacamole salsa. Single bathroom and $1.50 feet if you want to pay with card so I’d advise cash. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Definitely would be back my favorite taco in Phoenix thus far.
Connor L — Google review
As a native Mexican, I can honestly say these are the best tacos I’ve had in the valley. We tried cecina, which was very authentic, asada and pastor. It’s INCREDIBLY hard to find tacos al pastor that can even come close the ones you have in CDMX. They can never get it right. But these are spectacular. Wow. Definitely more of a central Mexico taste, not the cheeses or spices you’ll get from other Mexican places that focus on cuisine from the north. (Love those too.) I felt like I was in Mexico City for a moment. This place feels and tastes like home. 10/10
Regina P — Google review
I visited Phoenix for the weekend and had a hankering for some tasty Mexican food and somehow managed to find this place. I went with the #1 combo with three tacos (pollo, carne asada, and al pastor) and a side of rice and beans. The food came out on a tray with the three awesome salsa options for you to put on your tacos, which were also delicious. There were a bunch of baked good and cold treats in the display cases that were really calling my name, so I went back up and asked the super nice guy at the counter what his favorite sweet option was and he offered fresas con crema. This version had shredded coconut and peanut pieces mixed throughout and topped with whipped cream. I loved it and going here was my favorite food experience I had on this trip. Thanks, y’all <3

Tacos Huicho – The One Where Tacos Were Cheaper Than Therapy Getting over Beau has been… well, let’s just say it’s a journey. One that includes late-night spirals, dramatic playlist switches, and a highly inappropriate number of tacos. Thankfully, I live in downtown Phoenix where heartbreak is common and tacos are plentiful and Tacos Huicho might just be the best emotional support taco spot in town. The staff? Friendly and welcoming, like the kind of people who would never ghost you after you said “I love you.” The food? Flavorful enough to make you forget the texts you didn’t get back. The atmosphere? Casual, comforting, and perfect for when you’re wearing sunglasses inside not because it’s bright but because you cried all the way there. Their tacos are bold, juicy, and absolutely delicious, especially the al pastor. And sure, tacos fall apart sometimes, but we still love them. Just like Beau. Except… no. Not like Beau. These tacos are consistent. 10/10 would recommend. Whether you’re in the mood for healing or just extra guac, Tacos Huicho delivers. And if you bring a friend, maybe you can finally stop talking about your ex mid-bite. (But no promises.)
Christopher O — Google review
I’ve been going for many years and the food has always been amazing. They have three locations. This one is the original gangster location meaning it was built before the other others. It is also in a poor part of the town though it’s gotten better for example when I first started coming here, I would see a lot of stray animals walk on the same street as well as a lot of poverty though over overtime it’s gotten a lot better. The staff has always been amazing very friendly and tolerate my beginner Spanish. I love the energy because they play awesome music and have people mind their business enjoying their time with their families. The food is incredible for how many different types of meat they offer when I used to eat chorizo(longaniza) that was my favorite taco to get, though they’re all amazing and trust me I would know I ate a lot of Carne Asada, chicken(pollo), al Pastor tacos, you name it. The drinks slap! I love the horchata!! Their ice cream is amazing and they make a lot of home made flans and other desert dishes!

Amazing food and great service. You can smell the meat cooking on the grill right away. I purchased the burrito and was really impressed with it size and taste. 💯 delicious. Came back later and purchased 7 tacos mixture of steak and chicken (I believe it was the Ed Pastor tacos) Freaking awesome. Delicious and tasty. I am a fan now. The food is delicious, however the price does not justify the proportion served. I ordered a burrito advertised at $9 then it came out to $13. It was more tortilla than ingredients in the burrito. Very lazy work on behalf of the cook. The staff helping was very polite though.

Good tacos, good flavor. I recommend the Al Pastor (they only have 3 meats of choice... asado, Pastor or chicken) their salsas are good, and their guacamole as well as their agua frescas they're delicious I recommend the horchata. only thing I didn't like was the size of the restaurant very tight in there. I had an absolute blast at Blanco Tacos + Tequila in Phoenix! The tacos were out of this world—bursting with fresh, bold flavors and served on perfectly crafted tortillas. I tried the carnitas and chicken pastor, and both were pure heaven. The tequila selection was equally impressive, with smooth, top-notch options that paired beautifully with the meal. Really solid spot for some Mexican-ish food downtown. Very large, well decorated, super friendly staff, food is great, drinks are great. Only complaint is it feels a little corporate/plastic, but if that doesn't bother you this place is perfect.

Since there are not too many options inside the Phoenix Airport, I decided to eat in this restaurant. Food is overpriced, I paid $25 for 3 carne asada tacos plate that looks like a kids meal, honestly, those were the smallest tacos I’ve ever had. Service is good in general, food is served quickly.

Customer service was horrible. This salad came out to $20 and looks like it’s something from the gas station. Paid an extra $5 for like 5 small pieces of chicken. The people working at the counter were speaking with each other for 5 minutes before taking my order. Overall, terrible experience and would not recommend.

Service was great. Food… not so much. I placed my order and literally within less than 5 mins, the food was served. I ordered chicken nachos and a classic margarita. While the food looked great and appetizing, it was cold. It’s like they prepare the nachos ahead of time and put it to warm. The queso and chicken were ice cold. The waiter offered to have them remake it (2nd photo). It seems like they just put it under a broiler for a brief minute and topped it with more sour cream. It was awful. I was afraid to eat it because of the food temperature and didn’t want to get sick. The margarita was ok, don’t think it had the Don Julio as ordered. It just tasted like sweet and sour mix. The price of the nachos was $20 and the margarita was $16. I would pass on this place. Way over priced, food temperature a concern and not worth it.

I’m new in town and I was previously on the hunt for a good seafood restaurant - this is it! Their service is amazing. The food is hands down the best and it’s spicy! We had the hangover cure plate and omg will it set you right. I’m not a fan of slushy or frozen drinks but this place has the best and strongest frozen cocktail from anywhere. The staff is also so kind and attentive. Don’t look or go anywhere for seafood - this is literally it!

Mariscos Playa Hermosa is a seafood focused Mexican resturant. I found this establishment on a few websites stating its one of the best seafood restaurants in Phoenix and bonus points because it was Mexican food considering AZ is known for its Hispanic population (as well as Native Americans) and their food. The restaurant itself reminded me a loy of a typical Mexican restaurant style set up. Nothing fancy but the dishes served and their pricing. It was quite nosey but not to the point you can not hear the individuals youre with. Service was great! Quick, polite and accommodating. However, the food was not that great in my opinion. Our dishes came out room temperature. The calamari was heavily breaded and the sides such as the rice with mixed vegetables and refried beans lacked flavor with every bite. I was not a fan of my dish and the alcoholic beverages were beyond overpriced and tasted like a sugary Pina Colada more than a Margarita. If youre trying to impress someone I could see why you'd come here but at random; not so much. All in all it was a great concept but I'm not a huge fan. I had high hopes.

Wow,thats all I got. Just look at the pics that go with this amazing establishment. Our server was great and on her A game that evening. She took care of our order to the T and just , really went out of her way for us I honestly can say. Im definitely a big fan of this fine restaurant and cant wait to visit Arizona and Mariscos again

I went here for lunch with some friends and the food was absolutely delicious! Our waitress was super nice and patient with us as we browsed the menu. We got Verde aguachile and I got filete divorciado which were delicious 😍 definitely going to be coming back!

Food poisoning nightmare — avoid at all costs. I ordered oysters because the waiter insisted they were the restaurant’s “signature oysters from Mexico” and said they were “really good.” I even asked her — how on earth does a place in Arizona have fresh oysters? She confidently convinced me to trust her. Biggest mistake ever. Within hours, three out of four of us were violently sick all night long. It’s now the next day (12:46 PM as I’m writing this) and one of my friends is still stuck in the bathroom. The only person who didn’t get sick was the one who didn’t eat the oysters. I tried to call the restaurant to speak with a manager, hoping they’d take responsibility or at least show concern — he hung up on me. No apology, no accountability. This was not just disappointing — it was disgusting and dangerous. Never again.

The only thing that would make MPH better is if it was actually right on the beach but what can you do? We tried the La Patrona seafood tower and it did not disappoint! There were two of us but could have easily fed 3 or two adults and two kids. Everything was tasty and the preparation was impressive. We didn’t want to dig into it at first because it looked like a work of art. Our waiter, John, was fantastic and took great care of us. We’ll be back.

100% Gem!! Everything we have ever had at this restaurant has been on point phenomenal! Discovered it over 15 years ago and have never been disappointed. Yoooo Mariscos Playa Hermosa is the real deal! Over the top Mexican decor, bright colors...The food is like what you would get in Mexico where fresh fish is done right everywhere. Salsas are spicy, chips warm from the fryer. And, the menu offers a wide range of choices, mostly centered around shrimp and fish, prepared in many different ways. We all ways ordered the Mocajete perfect for 2-3 people amazing tender seafood and meats! I love this place! 100% recommend!

Restaurant Atoyac Estilo Oaxaca is a popular spot for those seeking an authentic Oaxacan street food experience. This no-frills taqueria on the west side has been a local favorite for years, offering a delicious selection of tacos, tamales, and quesadillas. The battered fish taco is a standout dish, served with shredded cabbage and spicy crema on a flour tortilla.
The tacos are awesome. They have a different taco special each day that changes each week. My favorite taco is el pastor, but they are all great. The staff is courteous and pleasant. They do catering orders and offer dining in and takeout orders.

I can’t believe this place have the courage to charge almost $30.00 for such of disgusting “meat” and few pieces of chorizo. Very bad experience. Be aware !

A hidden gem! Our favorite taco spot and my favorite fish burrito in central Phoenix. Always fresh and delicious. Every day is taco Tuesday, too.

I absolutely love this place. It's not in the best neighborhood, granted. But man, the food is second to none. I come almost every time I visit to area for work (monthly) and it never disappoints. Tacos are some of the best in Tucson. Flavor is outstanding. Sure, they're small, but they're cheap too. Pro tip: come for Taco Tuesday AND when ordering the Tacos, make sure to get them to add grilled onions and one super spicy grilled jalapeno on the side! You won't regret it (unless you just take a giant bite of that tiny jalapeno)!

Have been here twice and enjoyed it immensely both times. The specialties of the house include memelitas and molotes. The molotes come in orders of two and are like a little corn dog, masa wrapped around a smooth concoction of chorizo and potato then fried. Not too spicy, with a delightful taste and texture. My favorite is the memelita, a small circle of masa dough, topped with a layer of refried-style black beans, cotija cheese, onion, and cilantro. Available con carne if desired. The street tacos are great here too.

Delicious, and clean. Loving family own business, excellent customer service skills. Super friendly staff. Don’t let the rough exterior fool you, this place is a gem 💎 ❤️ my meal was delicious and only $14. Not bad at all for a few sodas and 3 tacos with veggies!!

Tacos Jalisco is a modest, casual eatery in Scottsdale that offers a variety of Mexican street food and combination plates. Despite its unassuming dining area, the restaurant is known for serving top-notch tacos, burritos, tostadas, tortas, and enchiladas that rival some of the best in town. The menu features classic comfort foods like creamy beans and fluffy rice.
The local business is everything they said, and more! Yes the salsa is excellent, but so iseverything else. We had ordered Asada, Gorda, and Burro combos. Usually I have leftovers, but I ate it all. It was the one time I didn't mind having a food-coma! They're busy, there's usually a line out the door, but it's definitely worth all the hassle!

Caldo 7 Mares was no good. They put imitation crab meat when it’s pictured with real crab legs. They burnt the telera bread I ordered for the caldo horribly, one side was so black I couldn’t even pick around it. I had to send it back. Tacos are mediocre and small. Spent a good $36 and threw most of it away.

We were in the area (Old Town Scottsdale) and wanted Mexican Food. We decided on El Original Tacos Jalisco. Unfortunately, it wasn't really what we were looking for but ate here regardless. I had the Carne Asada Taco. It came with a lot of meat and the meat was a bit hard. So, not the best I've ever had. I didn't like the red sauce that it was topped with but I did enjoy the salsa verde or geen salsa. I did enjoy the carnitas. My grandson didn't like the taste of the meat so I ended up eating it.

This Mexican restaurant/ taco shop is incredible, it’s definitely one of the best ones in the area, you’d have to go more into Phoenix to find similar authentic Mexican food! The staff is super friendly and they are very outgoing, very polite and since coming here for many years I noticed they still have the same. Next to the restaurant there is also a Mexican slushy shop, which is awesome. I highly recommend it as well.

I ordered the sope and taco, honestly I’m confused. Last time I ordered the sope they prepared it for me but this time they just put everything on the plate for me to do. Which isn’t a big deal just confused why it’s different this time. imo this place is too expensive for the quality. My coworkers love it so I don’t have a choice sometimes to come here Only place I have come across that tries (sign above hot sauce bar) to charge for more than 1-2 little cups of salsa.

Absolutely banger tripa tacos. I don’t know what constitutes ‘legit’ Mexican food, I mean, look at my name it’s as bland as a cucumber sandwich sans mayonnaise, but the taco platter I got was deadly with a capital D. 11/10 would eat there again if I found myself in the cultural morass that is Scottsdale Arizona.

Barrio Café is a lively restaurant that offers innovative Mexican cuisine in a charming setting adorned with folk art. The original location, situated in the vibrant Midtown area, boasts graffiti-covered walls and a grungy ambiance. Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza's signature dish, cochinita pibil, is a slow-roasted pork infused with achiote rojo spice blend and bitter orange, prepared tableside with guacamole.
Definitely remembered the Triple D episode that featured this amazing little place. I totally agree with Guy's assessment of this place. The food is spectacular! This isn't your typical Mexican food joint. It's innovative, creative and refreshingly delightful. What we ordered surpassed all expectation in terms of taste and presentation. This is definitely a must visit when in one visits Phoenix.

The cochinita pibil was excellent. The closest thing to the authentic dish I tried in Merida, Yucatán. The queso fundido and quesadilla boracha were good appetizers. The tlayudas were disappointing. They taste nothing like tlayudas I’ve had in Mexico City. The cocktails, especially the jamaica and picocita, were amazing. The grilled tres leches was very good. Flan was just okay. Good service considering how busy it was.

Loved the patio, the portions are big enough to share (for 2 people). Good service, parking was adequate. Only downfall was that we scheduled to go for happy hour as still listed and they were not offering it and mentioned how it's gone indefinitely, I found that sad to hear knowing how much more business they would attract.

Absolutely one of the best meals ever! The service was beyond phenomenal. The guacamole, is amazing and I definitely recommend. My mother who is visiting from Florida said a halibut dish rivaled the seafood she gets on the coast. The steak is out of this world. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like from here. Our server was incredibly considerate with my pregnant sister’s dietary restrictions and considerations. Best dining experience I have had for a while.

I am a native of AZ and have been looking for a Mexican restaurant that I have a craving for and HAVE to go back to. @thebarriocafe IS THAT PLACE! The best food and drinks I have had from ANY restaurant! 6/4/2022 No, really guys. It’s still so flipping good!!!! You need to try it! It is expensive but very much worth it. New tables, silverware, and better service then before. 8/12/2022 Ok. This is just becoming unfair. A new item, the Pollo Pablano. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the overall balance was just perfect. Dessert. The Tres Leches Cake was humongous! The flavor you guys! My fiancé was speechless, no easy feat. 2/24/24 Welp, it’s still problematically delicious. Please go here.

Genuinely one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. With COVID we've generally avoided eating inside because some restaurants have not set up safely, but there was never a moment here that we were remotely uncomfortable. The food here is other-worldly. I never knew guacamole could be so good. We ordered 3 different entrees (for leftovers, the entrees are huge) and every single thing on the plate was perfectly thought out and tasted like it was the chef's sole purpose in life to create that exact dish. The staff elevates the dining to another level. Can't wait to get back.

Native American restaurant
Restaurant
Fry Bread House is a cozy restaurant located in Phoenix's Melrose District, known for its savory and sweet creations made from Native American fry bread. The simple yet delicious deep-fried dough is filled with a variety of toppings, making it an award-winning entree. Established in 1992 by Cecelia Miller, this hidden gem has gained recognition, including the prestigious James Beard Award in 2012.
This was our first time trying Fry Bread House. It was VERY crowded so we were hoping that meant the food was going to be amazing. They did not disappoint. The fry bread itself was so good, I could've eaten it plain. Anyway we both ordered the ground beef tacos, one order of corn to share, and I tried out their apple refresher. We shouldn't have ordered two separate tacos because they were HUGE, we could've shared one. I had to take a lot of meat out of mine just to finish, I really enjoyed the fry bread. I wasn't a fan of the street corn, it just didn't have the right taste to it and it was very messy. The refresher was really good...imagine apple pie filling flavor over ice. We will definitely return if we're in Arizona again. Very limited seating and it gets really crowded so order quickly and pay attention so you can grab a table before it's too late.
Nia R — Google review
First off, five stars for the atmosphere because the vibe of everyone eating there on a Saturday night was great and nobody laughed at us for cramming a ton of food onto the tiny round table we sat at...the person who brought us our food had to kind of stack things up for us 😂 Service was stellar and friendly. We had to ask to pack our bean and cheese fry bread to go, and the guy didn't bat an eyelash. He just laughed, like, "I get it," and brought us a little box. But the food was so crazy delicious. Red chili stew, dipped birria fry breads, honey fry bread for dessert, and oh that loaded cheese crisp. The bread was puffy and crisp, light, just amazing. There's a reason this restaurant is so beloved and well regarded. What a special place. Just go there.
Jon — Google review
10/10 would recommend. Came in just ahead of the lunch rush and ordered three fry bread dishes to share — red chilli beef ultimate taco, ground beef combo taco, and the honey fry bread. All three were excellent—bread was perfectly crisp & very fresh, the flavors were complementary, and the red beef was very tender. Seating can get difficult once rush hour hits but turnover is quick since it’s so easy to want to wolf this down!

Let me tell you, when life gets heavy and the heart gets hungry, there’s only one place that truly understands, The Fry Bread House. I popped in the other day in need of some serious comfort food, and this place delivered like an auntie at a family gathering. The vibe here is simple and cozy, no frills, no fuss, just that kind of welcoming energy where you half expect someone to ask if you’ve eaten yet (and if you say no, they’ll fix that real quick). The staff? Friendly, fast, and clearly on a mission from the Fry Bread gods themselves. My go-to order: the Native Taco. It’ll have you stuffed to the brim, spiritually renewed, and ready to forgive your enemies, and maybe even your ex. And no visit is complete without a sweet fry bread to seal the deal. Normally I’m a honey-and-powdered-sugar guy, but today I went for cinnamon and sugar (and yes, added butter, because I’m not here to play). It was pure heaven; like a warm hug from Mother Earth herself. 10/10 would absolutely come back, even if it means my jeans file a formal complaint. Fry Bread House is the kind of place that heals you faster than sage and laughter combined.
XTopher T — Google review
I had spotted Fry Bread House ages ago while browsing the map for something a little out of the ordinary compared to what I can find on the central coast of California and finally got to try it. I'd had plain fry bread decades ago at some roadside stands in the Mojave but never something as hearty and tasty as an Indian taco. The red chili beef was fatty and rich and while the pillowy fry bread started getting soft fast from all those meat juices the edges still had a crisp shell and the whole thing was marvelously chewy. I had one with meat, beans, cheese, sour cream, and lettuce. It was hard to detect the bean flavor (which I love) but the whole thing was so so delicious, and it's no wonder why they've been around for decades. The space was super casual and very busy even at a late lunch bustling with pickup orders and patrons filling almost every air conditioned seat. The staff was friendly and clearly enjoyed their time cooking and chatting and shouting out orders. I loved the mix of folks there from old ladies to construction workers and if you can you really should dine in as those rolls of paper towels on the table come in handy chowing down on these beasts. Go here for a taste of the southwest and something a little out of the ordinary.

Really hard to find the right superlatives for this place. I have wanted to try fry bread for a long time. My Arizona family recommended this place and it was great. A James Beard winner for good reason. I had the beef vegetable soup and a piece of bread and the meat was as tender as Sunday pot roast. The potatoes, carrots and squash blended with the beef juices to make a flavorful broth. Fry bread is really hard to describe, but it was a perfect accompaniment. Flaky with a good chew and easy to tear. Well worth the stop.

Native Cuisine at its finest. The Fry Bread was on point!! Everything we tried was full flavored and generously portioned. The dinning area inside was limited and cozy, however we opted for the patio seating outside. We travel with a dog that was allowed to join us on the patio. So, thanks for that as well. Delicious experience! Teke a.k.a Tyo or Tio Tribal owner....keep up the great job. We'll definately recommend this spot and add it to our rotation whenever we're in town!

Los Reyes De La Torta is a vibrant cafe that specializes in Mexico City-style street food, particularly Mexican sandwiches known as tortas. The family-owned restaurant offers over 120 menu choices, with the signature Del Rey torta being the most popular.
My “atmosphere” rating is based on the fact this is not the kind of restaurant you come to if you’re looking for “atmosphere”. This is a no frills, “we’re about the food” kind of place and the food is the value. The food served here is along the lines of Mexican food found in the interior of the country and NOT New Mexican, Sonoran, or California/Baja style Mexican food. The portions are large and everything I’ve tried is good but Los Reyes is known for their tortas and you can’t miss with one of their tortas. Bring a big appetite !

I’ve visited this restaurant several times now, and each experience has been a treat. Most recently, I brought my family along and we all left happy and full. I ordered a burger and a mangoneada, both of which were flavorful and satisfying. For dessert, I highly recommend the fresas con crema-they’re always fresh, sweet, and the perfect way to end a meal. One thing to note: the tables are a bit close together, so it can feel a little cramped, especially when it’s busy and you’re trying to navigate around other guests. This isn’t really a spot I’d choose for a quiet or intimate atmosphere, but it’s worth visiting for the food. The restaurant can get quite crowded and quite loud on weekends, so be prepared for a possible wait and slightly slower service during peak hours.

Casa Corazon Restaurant is a rustic-chic eatery that serves traditional Mexican cuisine, including seafood, tacos, and tortilla plates. It's known for its extensive complimentary salsa bar offering ten varieties of in-house made salsas daily, including unique flavors like cucumber, serrano, and pineapple. The restaurant was opened in 2018 after refurbishing an old cottage in central Phoenix and pays homage to vibrant Mexican culture through its construction and decor.
This charming spot near downtown, located beside a church, offers a cozy atmosphere with limited but convenient parking. Inside, a salsa bar greets you at the entrance, leading to a modern, minimalist dining area. The restaurant features enticing happy hour and lunch specials. Guests are welcomed with house-made chips and beans. Menu highlights include flavorful shrimp tomato soup, crispy chicharrón tacos (a rare find), shredded beef tacos, and delicious shrimp tacos. Though slightly pricey, the food quality, friendly service, and inviting vibe make it worth visiting.

Had a late lunch with my daughter-in-law today at Casa Corazon, and what a gem! It was my first time, and the whole experience was fantastic. They start you off with chips and an incredible bean dip—but wait, there’s also a salsa bar so you can sample different salsas to your heart’s content. My daughter insisted I try the Pink Sauce—made with beets!—and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the veggie enchiladas with that sauce and… OMG! Total flavor explosion. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the pink sauce was next-level delicious. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive. Definitely coming back❤️!

I also really appreciate how clean and well-kept everything is, from the dining area to the restrooms. And as an added bonus, they offer free parking, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Definitely one of my new favorite spots, and I can’t recommend it enough!

This place seems out of place in this neighborhood. Seems recently redone and beautiful inside with what appears to be a yard and other building for events. Food is very good. Salsa is probably best in the area. Salsa bar has many options and not just 2-4 like a lot of places. I would give atmosphere 5 stars but being smaller I had a hard time hearing. Had the special enchiladas. Our group also had the mole and a pork burrito. I didn’t onow what pink sauce for the enchilada was and they let you sample the sauces. Nice touch. Mole sauce was very good. Burrito was stuffed well and not smashed. Recommend the place

We found such a nice little Mexican food spot. The entrance leads you in with the kitchen on your direct left and the dining room/seating to the right. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. Great spot for family or a date night. The staff were all kind and professional, all the food and drinks came out fairly quickly. 5 Star - hibiscus salsa was amazing. Unique and unlike anything we’ve had before. There is a decent amount of heat on the back end, it subtly comes. We put this just about all the food we had. 5 Star - Margarita Flight. The size of the drinks and the amount of alcohol was surprisingly fantastic. The base flavors came across as an aguas frescas which provided more depth of flavor. Our favorite was the hibiscus, then the cucumber jalapeño and last strawberry. 4 Star - The taco corazon: the shredded beef was a bit sweet but full of flavor. The grilled onions on top were a nice touch. This would be a five star if the taco were crispy. I really enjoyed the marinade on the Al Pastor taco was. It wasn’t goopy and the balance of pineapple and onions made this an above average taco. 4 Star - The Chiles En Nogada was almost a 3 Star. It was really good, with a great amount of flavorful pork. We would have liked if they add more dried fruit, to better balance the amount of pork. The sauce was perfectly sweet, but we would have liked it to be a little less grainy, so blend it for longer. 4 Star - The white rice was sweet and something neither of us have tasted before. The rice had pineapple, corn and maybe a little bit of carrot. So simple but really well done. 4 Star - The guacamole was not the best we have had, but it was better than most restaurants. It was freshly made and there were great size pieces of avocado too. 3.5 Star - The tacos de chicharron. The fried pork skin rinds were wonderfully crispy but they were lacking in flavor a bit. I was not a fan of the house paste tomatoes. I was so excited for this but the soft corn tortilla with crispy pork rinds and heavy amount of paste just didn’t work for me. Overall we were very impressed with the uniqueness of their food and drinks, as well as the quality overall. We will be absolutely be back to try more items on their menu! 3*** = Good but no separation from similar restaurants 4**** = Set themselves a part with unique food and I want to go back. 5*****= You have to go out of your way and make a special trip to try the deliciousness that is there!

Id never heard of hibiscus salsa before but I tried it here and really enjoyed it. It's the perfect blend of sweet and heat. The serrano salsa had a nice smoothness to it and a heat kicked in at the end. My tacos were delicious, and the shrimp fundido was good too. The only negative thing I'd have to say is that the refried beans they bring you with the tortilla chips definitely needed some salt. Other than that, the actual food was pretty tasty.

What a gem of Mexican food in Phoenix. Loved the salsa bar, the chips and brand dip was delish, but the star if the dish was the mole! The heart taco was also a very nice surprise with how soft the meat was and full of flavor. Separate from the food, hospitality is warm and welcoming. Sat at the bar and Paula was fantastic host, saw her doing all her magic with drinks while keeping conversation flowing. The paloma she made and the hibiscus margarita were top notch in flavor and balance. Can't recommend this place enough. If you are a foodie, add this to your list as a MUST.GO.!

Mexican restaurant
Pepe's Taco Villa is a cozy, long-standing Mexican eatery in west Phoenix that has been serving traditional Monterrey-style tacos on handmade tortillas since 1981. Despite the ever-changing dining scene, this charming restaurant has remained a beloved secret among locals. The menu features a variety of taco options, including the unique Monterrey filled with machacado and the Siberia made with chicken, guacamole, and sour cream.
Good was delicious. Everyone there was nice and welcoming. Don’t be alarmed by the surroundings, the food is amazing and so is the staff.

******Edit to this review****** We, after we purchased out newest vehicle, and the Eve of our 19th Anniversary wanted to come and celebrate both, at Pepe's. However it was quite the disappointment and 'downer' on our day. The service was non-existent, quite the surprise from past experiences. The food was mediocre at best. Beans lacked the prior consistent flavor as was the Spanish rice. I ordered the Carne Asada, which was quite surprising when I was asked how I wanted it cooked, as I have always known Carne Asada as a marinated meat, simmered to a flakey consistency, much like Carnitas. Although I requested 'Rare' it came out well done and was this tiny almost single almost paper thin cut of meat...maybe 3 ounces at best. My partner had ordered the Pepe's Special, but it came out as the same cut of New York Strip as mine only 2-3 times thicker in size. It too, was grossly overcooked as Sonny had ordere3d Medium Rare and it came out Medium Well. The male server nor the female that usually works lunches, came by our table after they delivered the entree's or we would have said something....asked questions about what was brought out to us. There did seem to be a large party in the back room, but there was only 1 other table in the dining room all the time we were there. When we had to ask for the check, we did mention our displeasure, and both the male and female server, became very defensive...asking why we didn't say something before.....we told them they never came by to check if we were satisfied with our entrees. We were not intending to get anything discounted or gratis, as we ate what was brought to us...as unpalatable, a disappointment as it was....we just wanted to let the staff know of our displeasure. Again the defensiveness we encountered significantly exacerbated our displeasure. Although this was the first time we had encountered, anything of this level of displeasure with Pepe's, actually the first time, but again the lack of "taking ownership" of the situation has caused us to rethink any revisit anytime soon. We both in our younger days have over 3 decades of foodservice experience between the 2 of us, and we know a facility can have a 'bad night', but recognizing ones failure(s) is the first step in atonement to customers you have dissatisfied, not trying to argue/lie about the service you claim you provided. __________________________________________________________ We were introduced to this establishment by our beloved "Doggie Park" family. As before it was an astounding 'find'!! We took my Cousins out with us and they were equally amazed...at what a wonderful place this is to dine! Sue loved her Pina Colada, stating it is the best she had ever had, our Margarita's although a bit lacking in 'sweet and sour', were quite the treat. The dishes we enjoyed, the Carnitas' dinner, the Relleno's dinner, the Combo plate and my Steak Picado were wonderful despite never having Steak Picado, served all chopped up like it was, nor cooked to the degree it was....it was still quite enjoyable. The chips were very, very tasty, they had a very 'fresh', unique but quite enjoyable flavor to them. I have lived in Phoenix for 26 years, and in this area for the last 20, and I have, NEVER, noticed this place, despite driving by it many times a week, but what a "Hidden Gem', it is!!! The parking is a bit sparse, but well worth the effort to get inside, which is quite comfortable and interesting. I was equally impressed with the service, as it was the epitome of 'hospitable' and timely. This establishment is a, Must Visit, if you truly enjoy authentic 'Mexican Cuisine'

The food was very good. We didn't wait long for our food. The service was ok. While my friend had his iced tea refilled more than once, my water was never refilled. The take home box I required was styrofoam. I hate styrofoam.

Best enchiladas ever. Love the enchiladas suiza and great service! Definitely worth the drive from Scottsdale. I love the bite cheese enchiladas and the cheese is so gooey. Free salsa and chips. Tasty rice. Great prices. Don’t miss coming here when you’re in the Phoenix Scottsdale area.

Having not been to Pepe's in 20 years, the food and service was phenomenal. Just like I remembered it. My hat off to the owners for keeping it open this long and keeping the quality as good as I remember.

I know for 5 stars we expect a lot. This is a good place (not a 5) the food was good the Margarita had regular salt which is not fun to have (Tip - put chamoy on the rim then cover it with tajin and SEA salt) the service was just good, the outside looks more like a liquor store, once you walk in its actually colorful and nice. Yes, I will be back.

Mexican restaurant
Willie's Taco Joint is a lively Mexican cantina located conveniently between Chase Field and Footprint Center, making it an ideal spot for grabbing some delicious street tacos and refreshing cocktails before or after a game. One of their must-try items is the Green Butcher taco, featuring succulent green chile pork in a flavorful tortilla with onion, queso fresco, cilantro, and cabbage. The restaurant aims to offer diverse menu options using only the freshest locally-sourced ingredients.
I walked to Willie’s from my hotel on Van Buren street. It’s just .6 miles away. It’s a 15 minute walk. I ordered the chicken taco, shrimp taco, and the green Butcher taco with some chips, guacamole and salsa. I only ordered the green butcher because it was listed on the menu as a favorite and I can 100% agree with that opinion! It was my favorite by far! Super tasty! Big and filling! The chips, salsa, and guacamole are all freshly homemade and delicious! I was able to eat 2 out of the 3 tacos, and less than half of the chips and salsa. They all made great leftovers for the next day. The restaurant was empty except for a lone guy who actually looked like Willy Nelson who appeared to be writing music. The only thing I didn’t like about the restaurant was the street noise. It’s right off of the street and open aired. The restaurant has no control over it, but the loud mufflers in this city are SO annoying! The city really needs to do something about this issue! It’s awful. Prices are reasonable. After tax and tip my bill was about $35 for one person, but like I said, it turned into two meals. Definitely would go back for happy hour and order the green butcher again.

Cool place to stop and hang out before or after a show or sporting event. I really enjoyed the chips and guacamole with a side of nacho cheese sauce. I had the green taco and it was amazing. Eliote’ bites rocked too. Definitely will be stopping in next trip downtown.

Stopped by today for the first time just before the Mercury game and had the Big Fatty. It was a legendary burrito and incredibly filling! I loved the four (4!) different salsas you can try as well. The salsas weren’t labeled but I liked the yellow one that was akin to a mango-habanero salsa — I love that it starts off sweet and then packs a wonderful wallop! I can definitely see myself coming back here before a game or if I’m in the area. Great job!

Asadero Norte de Sonora is a no-frills Mexican eatery in Phoenix that specializes in Sonoran cuisine. The restaurant is known for its charcoal-grilled meats, offering a variety of options like carne asada, barbacoa, pork al pastor, ribs, whole chicken, and beef head. Diners can create their own taco combinations with the grilled meats served in tin-foil trays.
This Mexican restaurant felt super authentic and the food was delicious. We ordered two samplers as a group of five and were served some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. The food had great taste, wasn’t oily at all. It felt simple yet sophisticated! Where the ingredients and preparation speak for themselves and don’t need unnecessary fluff. We had grilled chicken, tongue, carne asada and braised beef. The sauces were spicy and delicious. I am glad we ended up at this restaurant!

Service was excellent. Bilingual menus and service. Food was served hot and stayed hot on their serving tray. Beans salsa and chips were given to us before our meal. Real flour tortillas were served with our meal. Carne Asada was good so was the seasoned pork.

Just got off a long flight from the East Coast and was told my the car rental representative to come here. This place did not disappoint. The girls warmly welcomed us and sat us right away. We ordered the whole chicken. This can feed 2-4 people. Everything was delicious! The limonada was tasty and refreshing. If you're in the area or coming off a flight, make this your first stop. It's minutes from the airport!

No frills, tiny restaurant with really good pareillada (small table hibachi) with your choice of up to 3 proteins med & large sizes. We bought 3 large with all the options and fed 10 people, come with beans, guac, cucumbers limes & flour or corn tortillas. It's was really good & the beans were delicious! &&Complimentary chips and salsas (green & red). The horchata and Jamaica were really good too. No alcohol is served here. Service was ok, no real effort in giving the correct drink to person who ordered it but we figured it out. Also had the churro cheesecake my daughter loved it. We paid $160+tip.

Greeted as soon as we walked in. The environment is clean and inviting. Our waitress attended to us immediately. Kind, courteous staff who check up on us regularly. The food was phenomenal! We had the media parillada for 2. It comes in a hot tray heated by charcoal with 3 steamy meats of your choice, 7 homemade tortillas, salsa, chips, onions, jalapenos, grilled onions and and charro beans. You still get a side of guacamole, cucumbers, limes, and red onions. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend this place. Prices are very affordable too. We will be returning.

The perfect hole in the wall experience! Not much to look at form the outside but open the door to a very authentic and hospital experience. Seat yourself and be served with a smile, I can only imagine the friendly faces this place has served over the years. Complimentary chips and delicious salsa, a good selection of Mexican drinks, and THE SMELL OF THE DELICIOUS MEATS COOKING WILL DRIVE YOU NUTS!! We ordered a meal for 2, comes with 7 tortilla wrapped cozy warm, and choice of 3 meat served in a hot sizzling serving tray. We got Barbacoa, chicken, and carnitas, all delicious!!! Great spot to stop to fill your belly!

We got the pollo asado with rice, beans, and tortillas and I can highly recommend them! Honestly the portions are pretty big. Super friendly staff and clean environment. Tacos Sahuaro is a modest taco joint in Phoenix that may not look like much from the outside, but it's a hidden gem for taco enthusiasts. The ambiance is casual and inviting, with quick service and reasonably priced, generously portioned tacos. Customers are served with house-made green and red salsas to complement their meal. The tacos come in large sizes, so even though they're filling, you might end up taking some home.
Tacos Sahuaro was a very nice experience. My wife had an asada taco and I had a pork belly taco. We both just had water but the juices looked good as well. Bigger space for a taco spot and had good AC friendly staff. Tacos had good flavor and the salsas had a lot of nice flavor as well. Definitely a great taco if you’re in the area! Will be back.

Hole in the wall taco shop that is legitlegit, and hit my craving. Had the asada and pastor, both were excellent- fresh white onion and crisp cilantro on top on to die for tortillas. Fresh meat (and the asada had that caramelized char that makes the steak next level), phenomenal salsa rojo y verde, the escabeche was to die for, and my favorite on a 110 degree day? The agua frescas. Next time I’m over that way I’ll be there.

Visited based on the glowing recommendation of a local and to be honest was kind of disappointed. I ordered the chorizo tacos and they were pretty flavorless. Comida a today madre, indeed! Recommended by an Uber driver, we came here on our first visit to the Old Town Scottsdale area. Really fun merch at the checkout area. Huge bar! Our first waiter kind of forgot about us, but then we got Juan! Absolutely fabulous service. Super personable and efficient. Give him a raise!! Loved the chopped salad with shrimp. And the Skinny Cholla. That slanting glass makes you notice less when you've had a few! My husband chose The Queen (nothing new there) and loved it. It was not quite too hot to sit outside in the shade, so we had a lovely lunch in the patio. Fabulous!

Stopped in here for lunch after walking around Scottsdale. We were one of the first to be seated, by the time we left the restaurant was packed! That is always a good sign. We had the protein bowl and salad for lunch. The portion sizes were very large. They also serve chips and salsa. The food was excellent. There was enough to bring home another meal. Parking can be a challenge. We found free parking in the garage right behind the restaurant. We will be back!

Went for Friday happy hour and they had such great deals on frozen margaritas ($6) and tapas ($4-$6). Their famous guac was the highlight, with pops of flavor from the pomegranate and it’s made in front of you. Our server was also very attentive and friendly.

Came for a worker dinner with a party of 9. Easy reservation process. The food was great. We had street corn and I had three tacos. The salsa was also excellent. Cocina Madrigal Tacos + Tequila is a beloved neighborhood restaurant in South Phoenix, owned by Chef Leo Madrigal. With over 30 years of culinary experience, including working as a corporate chef at ZTejas Grill, Taco Guild, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, and Salty Sow, Chef Leo has crafted a menu that showcases his expertise. The restaurant specializes in classic Mexican fare with a focus on homemade enchiladas and handcrafted tacos.
The restaurant is currently under renovations so if you go to the og location just walk or drive down a little ways on the left side of the road from the restaurant and there is a food truck with a big parking lot and some tables to sit at. If the tables are all taken or it's too hot to be outside to eat, you can order takeout as well. I ordered the wild mushroom enchiladas and I was absolutely overjoyed with how delicious these were. No spice level, it's a mild cream sauce (if, like me you can't handle spice). Food arrived quickly and the staff were so pleasant! I will absolutely be back to get these delicious enchiladas again. I hope they're able to open their indoor restaurant again soon :)
Zerofever P — Google review
Our family is tremendously glad that Cocina Madrigal is back and still as delicious as ever! We are a huge fan of the enchiladas - my mom and I love the chicken enchiladas and my sister enjoys the Wild Mushroom enchilada. Each bite is packed with flavor and we feel it’s a testament to the restaurant that the sides are just as drool-worthy as their main entree counterparts. The salsa and chips are so fresh and delightful when warm. There is a lot of heart behind this food and we taste it in every dish! Please indulge yourself if visiting Phoenix or as a resident at this restaurant the next time you can. It’s our favorite local find! They currently operate out of a food truck and maybe in the building next to it - we couldn’t quite tell. All seating is now outside (maybe in the future this may change). There is a beautifully-decorated, shaded, and misted outdoor seating area for those dining in and an additionally shaded and misted area for those waiting for to-go orders.

My favorite Mexican restaurant had to close for fire renovations, but to my surprise —they rolled out a food truck, and it’s every bit as good as the original! The flavors are exactly the same: fresh tortillas, perfectly seasoned meats, and that incredible guacamole that keep me coming back. The food truck is surprisingly efficient, and the staff is as friendly as ever. It feels like a little slice of the restaurant experience on the go. My go-to order is still the steak tacos, and they taste just like they did in the dining room. The only downside is missing the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, but honestly, the food makes up for it. And there is a dining room with A/C. If you loved the restaurant, definitely find the truck, just around the corner from the original location. It’s the best way to support them until the doors open again. And if you’ve never tried it, this is the perfect chance. You won’t be disappointed.

Cocina Madrigal: The Guacamole is Pure Gold (and those Tacos are Legendary!) 🥑🌮🥇 Oh, honey, you didn't just eat lunch, you went straight to legendary! I found Cocina Madrigal operating out of their food truck/patio setup in Phoenix, and let me tell you—the hype is real! This place, which was voted Yelp’s #1 Restaurant in America in 2022, proves that incredible flavor can happen anywhere. Let's start with the important stuff: that Guacamole is the best I've ever had! It's fresh, chunky, and the perfect flavor bomb. But the tacos? Chef Leo Madrigal is a genius. I had the Pomegranate Steak Tacos (made with gorgonzola, fried peppers, and pomegranate marinade!), and it was an unbelievably delicious, boutique-crafted flavor bomb. I've never had those unique, gourmet ingredients together, but it was amazing and sang together in perfect harmony. The temporary setup is buzzing, and the staff is friendly and efficient—they are carrying the flag for one of the best restaurants in the country. Forget sad airport food; you totally bypassed the map and went straight to fabulous. Our first time was at their temporary site untill the restaurant building is restored from a fire. But we will definitly go back. The food was excellent. I don't say that very often. Their restaurant burned down last year sometime so we went to their new taco truck stand just down the street. It’s maybe a three minute walk from the old restaurant just west of there. We were pleasantly surprised by the awesome set up. They have there. Covered seating with fans and sprayers. Going to keep the summer heat off of you. The food was amazing as always and it’s a nice bonus that it comes in to go packaging so you can take your leftovers home easily. Same great flavor as always! They are salsa and guac are to die for !

My family came into this wonderful place to grab dinner to go. Upon getting out of the car a nice guy asked if we were coming in to eat or doing a to go order. Everyone had a super welcoming attitude. I ordered the three tacos and ended up mixing up the selection. Two were the steak taco w/ blue cheese with shredded, breaded poblano peppers (which I’ve never had) soooo good. Perfect spice level to this taco. The meat wasn’t over cooked and had a touch of pink on the steak and so tender. Delicious. I also got one shrimp, mango taco, so good! The beans were perfectly spice with sweet. I’m not a bean fan but these were so good. This is my review and I can say the other three family members loved their enchiladas and tacos and also those beans!! Thanks for giving us this good family meal. Sometimes when traveling food isn’t good but dang- this hit the spot!

Stopped by for a quick meal on a road trip after researching for the best Mexican food in Phoenix and immediately was greeted with so much warmth and care. I don’t eat cilantro or dairy (but still love Mexican food!) so it can be hard to find a place that accommodates my diet but our server Angel was so kind and made sure I could still get their famous mushroom enchiladas. So much flavor & I could tell it was made with lots of care! My partner who has a very developed palette had their famous steak tacos and said it was 10/10. Even under construction, we had a great time eating outside next to their truck and the to go plating didn’t diminish the experience at all. We felt so welcome & after hours on the road, it was so nice to be treated with kindness and care. Thank you Angel and chef Leo! This place lives up to the hype, please try it if you’re in the area!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic flavors and chill vibes at Gallo Blanco! This spot blew me away. I stopped by for brunch and everything — from the atmosphere to the food — was spot-on. The place has a vibrant, artsy feel with colorful décor, cozy booths, and lots of natural light. Now to the food: The tacos are absolutely worth it — packed with flavor, great texture, and fresh ingredients. The chilaquiles verdes were the real standout: stacked high, drenched in tangy green sauce, and topped with a perfectly cooked egg. Comfort food done right. Don’t skip the café de olla either — served in a traditional mug with cinnamon spice and rich coffee aroma. It pairs perfectly with the vibe here. Service was friendly and fast. Great place for a casual brunch or to catch up with friends. Gallo Blanco nails it — can’t wait to come back and try more off the menu!

Hands down! Some of the BEST Mexican food in the valley! Shout out to ERIC for making our dinner extra special! I will definitely come back and visit the other location!

This has to be the best Mexican I’ve had in the Phoenix area. The envuelta made me think carb free dishes can actually be good; perfect combo of porky goodness and creamy smoky cheese. The banh mi was perfectly balanced (skip the jalapeño and pickled onion imho) and flavorful in every bite. Migas and flautas were also enjoyed around the table. The server was conversational and gracious. The decor contemporary. I felt relaxed and at home. Parking right in front. Truly nothing was negative in any way.

Eric was my server and he was absolutely amazing so welcoming and kind! The whole space felt inviting, and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the horchata (so refreshing!) and the huevos rancheros, which were both delicious and surprisingly affordable. If you’re looking for a yummy breakfast spot, definitely stop by and tell Eric I sent you! He truly deserves all the praise (and a good tip!).

I’ve been to Gallo Blanco about four times now, and this was definitely my last visit. I ordered the avocado toast, and while I didn’t mind that they used the same guacamole they serve with chips, my eggs came out cold. I also ordered one tamale verde con elote, and honestly—it was such a disappointment. Whoever came up with this recipe clearly doesn’t understand traditional Mexican food. Whole corn kernels in a tamal? As a Mexican, I was shocked and honestly offended. The tamal was dry, cold, and crumbling apart. It’s insulting to call this restaurant a Mexican restaurant. Not to mention over priced ! 10$ for 1 tamal! A total waste of money. My husband ordered chorizo con huevo, which was fine. But honestly, it’s pretty hard to mess that up. We also got two lattes de piloncillo, but there was no piloncillo flavor at all. This place feels completely white-washed. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, do not come here. To make things worse, while our server was nice, she wasn’t attentive at all. We had to stand up and go pay at the counter because she never came back to check on us during the meal. Overall, very disappointing experience.

The chips and guacamole was the best quac I've tried. The flapjack/pancake was thick and fluffy and sweet. I also ordered chicken flautas.. they were okay. My son had a bean and cheese burritos with their fried potatoes. He said their beans are really good.

Restaurant
Comedor Guadalajara is a long-standing, family-owned Mexican restaurant in Phoenix that has been serving delicious Sonoran-style dishes for over 40 years. The unpretentious setting and homestyle cooking make it a popular choice for families and friends looking to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine. One of its main attractions is the parrillada platters, featuring an impressive mix of grilled meats, seafood, and vegetables.
We got the whole family together for Easter weekend and decided to stop by Comedor Guadalajara for lunch. It was a Saturday, and even with a party of 8, the wait was just under 20 minutes which is pretty amazing for a busy holiday weekend. We ordered a variety of dishes including menudo, tampiqueña (carne asada plate), chimichanga, and a combination plate and every single item was delicious. You could taste the authenticity in every bite. Now here’s the part that really stood out. Our server didn’t write down a single thing. He memorized the entire order for 8 people and nothing was missed. That kind of service is rare and super impressive. The food, the service, and the overall experience were all spot on. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Phoenix with great service, I absolutely recommend Comedor Guadalajara. We’ll definitely be back. #ComedorGuadalajara #PhoenixEats #AuthenticMexicanFood

Quality food and above average flavors. The salsa was spicy and delicious. The green chile was tender. The red sauce was okay, definitely preferred the green. The rice and beans were both seasoned well. The asada had a nice grill flavor and some char which was a pleasant surprise. The service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. *** average food **** above average food at a reasonable price. ***** Unique and delicious food. The drive is worth the price.

Not gonna lie, the location is not the best. The entrance is kinda hidden, but my goodness! This legit authentic Mexican food!! You know somewhere is amazing when there’s no advertisement, but yet the place is packed all the time? This is it!! I wish I showed up when there’s live music. I’m so glad my friend recommended this restaurant for. I got a free soup as soon as I am seated, then later free chips and salsa - I’m spoiled! The server is lovely. However, I wish he would elaborate the special of the day further. All he did was said a Spanish term and didn’t tell me exactly what it was. I ended up ordering the shredded beef taco and cheese enchiladas from the lunch menu. I was going to save some leftover, but 5 minutes in, never mind lol~ 100% will return.

This is a family-friendly Mexican restaurant. It was almost full when we went there in the morning. Chilaqueles and Albondigas (meatball) soup tasted good. Menudo soup was also flavorful. Plenty of free parking. Saw a long line waiting outside when we left.

We have ordered from here for work events and everyone absolutely loved all the food. I finally got the chance to have a dine in lunch and really enjoyed the experience. The service was very good, the food came out quickly, very warm/hot and tasted wonderful. It's popular for a reason. Recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal, whether that's dine in or take away.

Finally got to check this place out! There is a reason there is a long line and a bit of a wait. The line moves fast though! Friendly service and tasty food. I can't wait to try more dishes.
Autumn M — Google review
Comedor Guadalajara never disappoints when it comes to flavor. The shredded taco plate is always on point. their hard tacos are perfectly crisp and filled with shredded beef. The rice and beans round out the meal for a classic combo that tastes consistent every time. The only downsides are that service can be a little slow on refills and the portions don’t feel as generous as they used to be. Still, the quality of the food makes it worth coming back again and again.
Zev L — Google review
Food was good(beans and rice lacked a little flavor). Their salsa was spicy, and I typically enjoy spice, but it was a bit too much for me today. Wait time wasn't too bad, not more than 30 minutes. We look forward to trying other plates, especially the green chile.

Restaurant
Otro Cafe is a modern kitchen that offers a fusion of New American cuisine and innovative Mexican dishes, along with a variety of cocktails. The restaurant is known for its delicious Elote Callejero, a wood-fired corn dish topped with mayo, cotija cheese, and smoked paprika. For brunch, visitors can savor a homemade vegan breakfast burrito made with fresh tofu, mushroom chorizo, beans, potatoes, and chili de arbol.
- Delicious. - Cute café style Mexican restaurant. I like that the coffee shop Cafecito is built-in next door, the smell in the restaurant is wonderfully relaxing. It reminds me of traveling, a nice airport lounge, the noise level was quiet-moderate with the décor being darkly modern. There was a small wait when I arrived, but that's okay, plenty of seating to wait. I originally came seeking to try the enchiladas but didn't realize they have different menus for lunch/dinner, so I ended up ordering the Huevos Rancheros with two over medium eggs on-top and xmas sauce (red and green sauce mixed). I also ordered a Shirley Temple, think sierra mist/7-up with grenadine, it was delicious. The Huevos Rancheros was perfect, the eggs were perfect, the layering and sauce was perfect, everything was perfect. The eggs were delicious, stuck out as being tastier than other eggs I've had in the valley, could have just been the combination of food. During my visit on 5/12/2025 at around 12:30-1pm, a man was sat down in front of me at a small table with two chairs, the waiter said he would be with him momentarily. My waiter, whose name I don't remember, was very busy working his section. I guess this patron was unhappy by the short wait bestowed upon him, visibly upset by the waiter passing him by one extra time or two without a drink - this patron stood up and left in an upset manner. I just want to say, to my waiter, whose name I don't remember, man with a speech impediment, did nothing wrong. He was very aware of his surroundings, was very attentive/aware of the patrons in his section, and the bus-boy/barback was doing a great job getting waters out (or trying his best). That patron who left was disrespectful, could use a thing or two about patience. Anyways, I loved the atmosphere, even the metal chair I sat in, I usually don't like hard seats but these had a slight curvature to them and were slightly more comfortable than usual hard chairs. They had booths as well, but overall it's a small establishment. There were two unisex single person restrooms, both accessible, although to be noted for wheelchair users - the bathroom requires going through some potentially tight turns in the back. The busier it is, the more difficult I would imagine it to navigate with a wheelchair in here. The restaurant itself is semi-accessible to wheelchair users, however I would call-ahead to reserve a table with room just to be on the safe side. Overall, a great experience. Quality atmosphere with quality food.

Second time at this glorious place. Wonderful atmosphere that's homey, comfortable, and lively but not so much you can't hold a conversation. Excellent food. Stellar service. My first and favorite dish is the burger with the pork belly. Amazing!!! That pork belly by itself was downright perfection and the burger stood up on its own - perfectly seasoned and cooked. And those fries. Oh man, those blistered fries. Best I've ever had, hands down. Need to add this to your must-go list.

Well I was in the mood for a hearty breakfast burrito and Otro Cafe did not disappoint. I’d never heard of the place before and tried it on a whim. Now after reading some other reviews I wish I would’ve tried the Huevos Rancheros. Guess that’s next time! 😂 The chorizo burrito was delicious. They serve everything with a couple of squeeze bottles of Salsa Verde (green, not spicy) and a Red salsa (spicy, holy hell spicy) but both were really good. The panini style crisp to the tortilla is a nice touch and overall it hit the spot. Must try Otro Cafe if you haven’t. The ratings don’t lie, it’s a keeper! 👨‍🍳😘

Does anything pair better with a broken heart than margaritas, chips, and an emotional debrief with a bestie? I didn’t think so, until I added a torta from Otro Café to the mix, and suddenly I was emotionally spiraling with flavor. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm, welcoming vibe, the kind that says, “You’re safe here… and also, yes, guac is extra, but worth it.” The staff was kind, the atmosphere was effortlessly cool, and the food? Let’s just say my heart wasn’t the only thing getting filled that afternoon. Between the tangy margaritas, the crunchy chips that held my tears (and the salsa) like champs, and a torta so good it briefly made me forget who Beau even was, lunch at Otro Café might just be the best kind of therapy, without the $200 copay. 10/10 would recommend for anyone nursing a broken heart, a hangover, or just a mean craving for damn good Mexican food. Will absolutely be back… maybe next time with a healed heart, but definitely still for the torta.

Hands down one of the best spots for elevated Mexican food in Phoenix. Every dish is packed with authentic flavor and fresh ingredients. The tacos are perfection, the enchiladas are rich and comforting, and don’t even get me started on the barbacoa — chef’s kiss! The vibe is cozy, the staff is always welcoming. Otro Café never misses! 🌮🔥💯

Food is top notch! Taste amazing and the service was just as good! I had the chilaquiles and the elote loco aka as their elote callajero. I can’t remember her name but our server had a cool haircut and she was very communicative and personable. I’m coming back again for sure!

Went for breakfast this morning, had the chilaquiles. They were okay, I normally never get green sauce….. But they offered me both, so I got both. I’m glad I did because I enjoyed the green over the red. The red sauce seemed more like marinara, was not a fan. The pancake was very thick and dense, so it seemed slightly undercooked, although it probably wasn’t, but the texture seemed undercooked. I will definitely go back and try some other items as they have chorizo from my favorite place Schreiner's. The young ladies working the front were very pleasant.

The Chipotle Cauiflower was very good!!! The presentation was nice and very unique. The flavors all worked together well. I would order it again and recommend you give it a try. Stopped by for a quick bite to eat on my last night in Phoenix and ended up having one of the most delicious meals I've eaten in a while. Having heard several YouTube personalities and influencers extol the greatness of Barbacoa, I was sold as soon as I spotted it on the very well-appointed menu. Every bite was an explosion of flavour, with the succulent, slow-cooked meat taking centre stage. The portion size was generous, and a spectacular value at the price. The service was top-notch too and I have to give a shout-out to my waiter, whose name I believe was Dallas (?). He helped make my last experience in Phoenix (for now) one to savor.

To begin our birthday weekend getaway, my boyfriend and I went to Chico Malo for dinner and it's a place that I would definitely consider going again! I made a reservation at 5:30pm, and we were seated quickly. The ambiance was lively yet intimate with dim lighting that fit with the Mexican-inspired aesthetic that invited people to party and socialize after a hard day of work. We have a bowl of chips with two different salsas and guacamole as a complimentary appetizer, so we solely ordered our main dishes since we knew from the size of the appetizer would be enough to satisfy us both. Although, I had a smaller appetite than usual that evening, so I tried their Dorados de Papa- a shareable dish, but just the right amount that I needed to get me full, but not painfully so. As for my partner, he ordered the Sea Molcajete that comes with octopus, shrimp, clams, and more to make for one stunning dish. It's a large meal, so if you consider trying it, you better come in ravenous. The server we had was very nice, checked up on us frequently, and even offered to take away a drink I had ordered and ended up not liking (my boyfriend drank it for me). Overall, I'm glad I tried this place out and I would come back again and make sure I have more room to eat more food!

Came last night to dine in and had a great experience overall. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was lively with great music playing throughout the night. The food was definitely the highlight — everything we tried was flavorful, especially the papa tacos, which were absolutely delicious. The only downside for me was the drinks; they looked great but tasted a bit bland compared to the food. Still, Chico Malo is a fun spot with tasty dishes and a vibrant vibe — definitely worth a visit if you’re in downtown Phoenix.

Nice upscale restaurant in downtown. I would recommend this as a nice date spot. My friend and I came around 10:30 and stayed until closing. It wasn’t too busy on a Saturday night and the food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Shrimp Macha and Duck Pastor. Food and drinks tasted great and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice too.

Great service, I liked the sangria here…soooo good. The atmosphere is definitely a good vibe, some of the food was not as tasty as it’s presented but that could also be a preference thing for me. Really tasty and wholesome tacos for Taco Tuesday! I had one each of the Chicken, Pastor, and the Carnitas tacos. They were very filling with lots of quality protein and made exactly how I like with onions & tons of cilantro. The sauces were surprisingly spicy hot and tasty. I preferred the red sauce which was not as sour as the green. Quite busy at lunch on a Tuesday. Warmly decorated. I will definitely need to come back to try more of the menu!

We ordered takeout, and overall the food was good. The pollo burritos were flavorful, and the pastor taco meal was tasty. The enchilada combo was just okay—nothing special. The only real disappointment was the carne asada; the meat quality wasn’t great and didn’t match the rest of the meal.

Torta & Burrito were on point! Stopped by here for breakfast and the food was amazing. I got the breakfast burrito — fluffy eggs, melty cheese, and just the right amount of chorizo. Everything tasted super fresh and not greasy at all. My friend had the torta and it looked just as good — toasted bread, juicy meat, and packed with flavor. You can tell they actually care about the food here. Definitely worth the stop, and I’ll be coming back for another burrito soon!

Food would be great if it wasn't too salty! The past 2 times I've been here, all I taste is salt! Ease up on the salt on that carne asada! And the horchata is chalky! Taste like chalk! Use to be one of my favorite spots! Hopefully they see this review and fix this!

I absolutely cannot put into words how wonderful this restaurant location is. Words simply won't do it justice. The flavors are magical, their potions are phenomenal, the way they even package the food for my to-go/delivery order was impeccable. I LOVE their Pozole so that was my main go to dish of theirs. However today I discovered they also have a Chilaquiles plate Mmmmm Mmmm...(the sunny-side up eggs which go on top were forgotten but it was A-Ok because they along with the rice & beans were absolutely super delicious!). I also ordered two Carna Asada Tacos as an addition to that plate which all combined made for a flavorful and very filling breakfast. I will be saving the Pozole for my late-lunch but I can affirm from previous orders that it too is SO YUMMY & so filling and I am excited just thinking about having it. I also ordered Agua De Orchata and let me tell you it was the perfect drink to have after the Jalapeno Chiles Toreados (grilled jalapeno's) I added as a side to my Chilaquiles plate, talk about the perfect spicyness topped off with the refreshing & soothing sweet drink. If you haven't eaten or ordered from this Restaurant - DO IT!!!!!! I am in love with this joint!

Tacos were awesome here and they had lots of different options. We had the cactus and chicken tacos and both were excellent. Guacamole was good and slushies were very flavorful. Highly recommend you give it a try! They only have outdoor seating and it’s not cash only, they do accept credit cards. But there is a discount if you use cash.

We had a good meal here. We both got 2 street tacos each and a refreshing slush drink (she, cherry, myself raspberry). They had the misters on in the back sheltered area - barely did the trick, but did do the trick so we were much more grateful). Fish and shrimp ones I had were great, with the green salsa (because, obviously!!). Fast service, friendly vibe, would recommend and will be back!

Stopped by The Beach House off Camelback and Central in Uptown Phoenix and had a great first visit. I ordered the fried fish taco and the carne asada bowl. The fish taco was lightly breaded with a nice crunch, served on a small tortilla packed with cabbage and sauce super flavorful and satisfying. The carne asada bowl came loaded with rice, a generous portion of tender carne asada, and all the toppings. The vibe here is laid back with all outdoor seating, perfect for a casual lunch in the sun. If you’re looking for solid tacos and bowls in a relaxed spot, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out.

Have been here a few times and always had a great experience. Most recently we were here over the weekend. Our server this weekend was really friendly and our food and drinks came quickly. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, which come one green and one red sauce but you can do both the same if you prefer. The table also ordered posole, chili relleno, and a second order of chicken enchiladas. We also started with chips, salsa, and guac. The cocktails and wine selections were also tasty.

The ambience, the food and the service was excellent!! I had the crab and shrimp enchiladas and they were phenomenal. The crab was so flavorful and the perfect amount. The ambience with live music, nice decor and a fireplace as the centerpiece was perfect. We waited to sit next to the fire and it was well worth it. It was a little chilly but the fire made it the right temperature. There were heaters too that would of made any other outdoor seating comfortable. The waiter was extremely friendly and was the one who recommended the enchiladas. This was a perfect 5 that should be a 10.

Some of the best Mexican food I have had! From the braised pork, the braised beef the sopes, ceviche, and oh my goodness the cornbread… Everything was amazing even the beans. Great ambience great service overall great experience. Can’t wait to go back!

We loved everything about this place. The food, the service, and the atmosphere. The host was able to squeeze us in with no reservation on a Friday night as we just flew into town. The classic dishes had a nice contemporary twist to them. Had the guac and the taco platter. The drinks were amazing. The only complaint I would have was the churros we had for dessert. I was expecting a dark, spiced chocolate syrup for dipping, but was surprised with a bland, whip cream covered chocolate mousse instead.

This is not an easy review to contribute because I have been a long time customer and the food has been good in the past at Rito’s Garfield. Unfortunately, my experience was not good. I ordered a green chili burrito online on 12/6/24. Toward the end of my last few bites I noticed something of a reddish color. At closer look, it was RAW MEAT. I’m not sure how this possibly could have happened accidentally, but I will not be ordering from here again.

I was here last year and I had the burrito with rice and beans. Food was very good! Everyone inside was very friendly, the girl at the register was so nice! There is nowhere to eat inside. Plenty of tables outside but it is very hot during the midday, so either take home or eat outside when they are closing. Saludos de NY!!

AZ you know if you know. Ritos is a must for real Mexican food generation after generations we all grew up on. Keeping it real for over 40yrs family of service and still original extended house with a screen door entrance and original Mexican arches. A must visit to all.

Simple menu means they know what they do best and they deliver. Great place to swing in and grab lunch while supporting the local economy. Can’t go wrong with green or red chili beef but honestly anything you grab is going to be a home run.

Being from the Bay Area are burrito enchilada style out there is filled with shredded beef this one you can tell it's authentic homemade recipe by someone's grandma for the price in Arizona the kind of skimp you on the beef beans and rice was awesome chips are awesome

I was here about two years ago and the food was good… I recently visited the past week. The tacos gross, when you bite into them, a fourth of oil comes dripping out of them. The rice was undercooked, kind of hard and had no flavor. This place has gone downhill!

Tamale shop
The Tamale Store is a cozy, family-owned spot offering a diverse selection of freshly made and frozen tamales. The quality of their tamales stands out due to the flavorful masa dough. Popular options include the mildly spicy pork red chile and the creamy green corn with cream cheese. Customers can choose from various flavors, whether they prefer hot or frozen tamales to enjoy at home. Additionally, they offer dog-friendly versions for pet owners.
Overall, fantastic!! It is a mix of a casual restaurant with a clean, casual space for eating in, as well as a small market with to-go options for foods. The staff at the front are extremely helpful and kind. I have celiac disease (strict gluten-free) and vegetarian, and I was pleasantly surprised about the gluten-free vegetarian options that were absolutely delicious, and with multiple options. Their fryer only cooks tostadas and tortilla chips, which are both gluten-free, so thus a gluten-free fryer was available! I enjoyed a doble style with a southwest veggie tamale, hatch & jack tamale, and sides of pinto beans and a bean & cheese tostada. The portions are extremely generous and also served with some chips. This was definitely the best tamales I have ever had. The tamale thickness and texture was perfect, while the hatch chile and cheese smothered in cheese suace on top was delicious and accompanied well by the savory southwest veggie tamale covered in red chile sauce. I wish tamales everywhere were served like this. The size of the sides was generous, and both the tostada and beans were an excellent complement to the tamales. I devoured them too quickly. They were so good, I decided to buy 6 frozen tamales (they have 5 veggie and 4 vegan options!) for my road trip, and my only regret is not making it in time to go again in person before leaving Phoenix. Excellent service, ambiance, and food that is both delicious and well-priced .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hidden Gem Alert: Best Tamales in Phoenix! I don’t usually leave reviews—unless a place really disappoints me or completely blows me away. And let me tell you, this place? Blew. Me. Away. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was warm, welcoming, and super authentic. I originally stopped by for just a couple tamales… somehow left with a full dozen. 😂 I had a little buyer’s remorse—until I got home, opened them up, and took one bite. Game over. These tamales are next level. Fresh, flavorful, legit homemade goodness. The kind that makes you wanna slap your mama (but don’t—she’ll hit you with a chancla 🩴). They even have tamales for dogs! Located off Greenway & Cave Creek in Phoenix, it’s a small, easy-to-miss spot—but trust me, it’s worth the trip. My “week’s worth” of tamales barely lasted a day in my house. Consider this your official warning: I’ve got a new addiction. And I’m not even mad about it. 😋🌽🔥

From the moment we stepped into The Tamale Store, I knew we had discovered something truly special. Finding a place that delivers on authentic flavor, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere is rare, but this gem does it all with ease. When we first walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and greeted us with a warm hello that made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. That positive energy carried through the entire experience. We were immediately impressed by how impeccably clean the restaurant was; every surface gleamed, creating a comfortable and pleasant dining environment that speaks to their high standards. The service was excellent. We placed our order and were amazed when our steaming hot tamales arrived at our table in under 10 minutes. This efficiency is remarkable for food that tastes so clearly homemade and fresh. Of course, the star of the show was the tamales themselves—absolute perfection. The masa was moist and flavorful, and the fillings were generous and perfectly seasoned. Each bite was a testament to quality and tradition. The Tamale Store is the complete package. If you're looking for delicious, authentic tamales served quickly by a wonderfully friendly team in a spotless setting, look no further. We will definitely be back!

I came here for lunch and ordered the green chili chicken tamale. The price was extremely reasonable... the tamale was so damn good that even though I was full, I went back and ordered another tamale! This time I had the chicken mole. It was sweet and rich with a powerful flavor that had me doing my happy food dance. Huge surprise, they package tamales and freeze them so you can bring home dinner for everyone!

If you want a good tamale, you go to The Tamale Store!! Simple math. Huge tamales made with Love! The sides were delicious. Big portions - wear your stretchy pants!!

Don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you— The Tamale Store is a culinary treasure nestled in a strip mall on Cave Creek Road. Step inside, and you're instantly transported to Mexico. The vibrant atmosphere, traditional Spanish music, and the tantalizing aroma of freshly made tamales set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by Elizabeth, who guided us through the extensive menu. As first-timers, we were overwhelmed by the variety, but Elizabeth's recommendations were spot-on. She suggested a selection of six tamales, each offering a unique flavor profile. The tamales are generously filled and crafted with care. The masa is thick and flavorful, a testament to the store's commitment to quality. We sampled three before we were thoroughly satisfied. The chicken green chile featured all-natural shredded chicken breast with a mild salsa verde made from fresh tomatillos, cilantro, and roasted green chiles. The beef red chile offered lean shredded beef with a mild red chile sauce made from an all-natural tomato sauce and an exotic blend of dried Mexican chilies. The hatch & jack tamale combined roasted New Mexican Hatch chilies with a gooey Monterey Jack cheese center, delivering a delightful and spicy experience. Accompanying our tamales were sides of red mashed potatoes and two eggs. The potatoes were bursting with flavor, and the eggs were cooked to my liking. A suggestion: a home-style potato option would be a welcome addition to the menu. The restaurant is impeccably organized and maintained, with a condiment station conveniently located near the soft drink machine. Whether you're dining in or taking out, the experience is seamless and enjoyable. On our way out, I couldn't resist ordering a coffee. As a self-proclaimed coffee aficionado, I can confidently say it was one of the best cups I've had in recent memory. The addition of Abuela's chocolate made it a standout. The Tamale Store is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary journey that brings the flavors of Mexico to Phoenix. With its friendly staff, authentic dishes, and inviting atmosphere, it's a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of tradition. For a list of their different tamales, more information or to plan your visit, check out their official website.

This place is so stinking cute and so dang delicious! I live in the east valley but it’s totally worth the drive to come up. The tamales are absolutely delicious. The masa was so soft and moist and the filling was so flavorful and delicious. I got the southwest veggie tamale and it was to die for. The side of rice and beans I got was also so tasty. I picked up jamaica flowers, salsa, and a two pack of tamales from the store and it was only 28$ which I thought was a steal! The employees were all so nice and welcoming. This is such a gem and I will definitely be making the drive out here again. Plus- the tamales are GF and my husband with celiac had no issues.

We met the Tamale Store folks at Uptown Farmers Market a few months before they opened their bigger location. The "new" location serves hot food counter style as well as the market where you can pick up and go. We have never eaten inside, but we frequently walk in for grab and go tamales that are frozen and we prepare them at home. We've bought them in bulk and pre-ordered for holidays because these tamales sell out fast. We love the vegan options! Our family loves the more traditional green chile pork and chicken. We like to see the new varieties offered and the creativity in the kitchen. The salsa is pretty good too. Staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful. We will continue to come back!

PHX Burrito House is a cozy Mexican eatery tucked away in a charming bungalow off 7th Avenue. The menu features an array of Mexican favorites such as burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. One of the standout items is the machaca burrito, known for its generous portions and flavorful combination of ingredients. The house also offers a delightful shrimp burrito filled with grilled shrimp, avocado, cabbage, pico de gallo, and hot sauce.
Dropped by for a chorizo breakfast burrito, so glad I did. I had a great chat with the owner while I waited for my order, what a great guy. Would definitely come back here if I lived here. As for the burrito, so good. Had it with the green salsa which just put it over the top. Great job PHX Burrito House, you've got a customer for life. This will be my go to whenever I'm in Phoenix.

I had the House Favorite breakfast burrito with cheese and ham and it was amazing. Everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor, especially with the grilled onions, jalapeños, and both sauces. Easily one of the best breakfast burritos I’ve had in Phoenix and I’m excited to go back for more.

Edited my review- this place has gone down hill over the years. Removed my five stars. Been coming here for years and it’s awesome to see how much the restaurant has grown and the best part about it is that the food is just as incredible as the first time I had it. They also have a patio for when it's nice out and the patio is such a vibe, I always try eating out there. I don’t want to leave out the awesome staff either! Super friendly people! Phx Burrito House is an iconic Phoenix restaurant that you MUST eat at.

Honestly, I didn’t think this place was very good. The burrito just didn’t have much flavor, and the meat was really fatty. The salsas didn’t help much either — overall, it just wasn’t a great experience in my opinion. The flavor is not good at all.

Restaurant
Bacanora PHX is a vibrant Mexican restaurant located in downtown Phoenix, known for its Sonoran specialties and creative cocktails. Chef Rene Andrade, hailing from Sonora, brings his expertise to the table with a menu featuring wood-fired Sonoran comfort food. The restaurant has garnered attention from national food critics for its ever-changing menu of exciting and flavorful dishes, all grilled over wood for that delicious smoky flavor.
Bacanora is a true gem tucked away on a corner. Small in size but big on flavor. From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making the experience feel warm and personal. We started with drinks and two appetizers that set the tone for the rest of the meal — fresh, vibrant, and packed with incredible flavors. We shared a main dish that was perfectly portioned for sharing. Dessert was great. Prices are on the higher side ($$$), but absolutely worth it for the quality, authenticity, and overall experience. I highly recommend Bacanora to anyone looking for a special night out with phenomenal food. I’ll definitely be back soon to explore more of their menu!
Yesenia P — Google review
This is a review of my experience at Bacanora. We had made reservations as we had heard it was hard to get a set if you didn't have one. We arrived a few minutes early to our reservation but we were greeted and seated right away. The venue is small but cozy and it has a pretty cool vibe. The restaurant was full fairly quickly after opening but it didn’t feel busy, it felt alive. One cool thing to note is that I believe there is no traditional “stove” in this kitchen, everything is cooked on the charcoal range they use, which can add more flavor. Our server was very cordial and informative and helped guide our decisions as to what to get and how much to order since we did not really know the sizes of the portions. We ordered two appetizers and one main entree which for me and my wife ended up being a bit too much food so we took some home. Aguacate (Guacamole) The guacamole had a pretty good flavor but had a tad bit too much lime. The tostadas that were served had a great consistency and flavor but unfortunately had gone stale. We had some recent rain so maybe they absorbed moisture from the air, not sure, but they could have probably been quickly heated up on the grill to add flavor and make them more crunchy. I’ve had this type of tostada before and it should not taste stale. Embered Elote & Bone Marrow We ordered the embered elote & bone marrow. I was expecting to receive an actual elote (grilled corn on the cob) but instead it is served as a plate with the bone marrow drenched with the corn, crema, and everything else. Overall it was rich in flavor but pricey at $29. Pollo Asado The pollo is a nice plate that is enough for 2 people. It is a roasted half-chicken from Two Wash Ranch and includes many other items. Overall, the chicken had a nice flavor, was light on smoke and was perfectly cooked. The dish was served with beans which were probably the most disappointing part of the entire meal, they had no flavor at all. The plate also came with a quesadilla which was great and had a nice mildly favored cheese. The flour tortillas were also spot on but the papas left me wishing for more flavor. The plate was priced at $76 which felt steep for half chicken. Overall Bacanora has great flavors and it's certainly something to experience, especially for a James Beard Award recipient in the Valley. Was this the best meal I’ve had? No. While it is close to the authentic Sonoran flavors, it did leave me craving more meat entrees which is what Sonora is known for (its meat ranches). While I am sure the forty ounce Ribeye is great, at $300, it’s a bit out of my price range. Will we come back? Unlikely, unless we want to treat some out of town visitors to a unique experience.

The stars aligned and I scored a reservation here for my and my partners anniversary (after applying for reservations for MONTHS). The experience was amazing! The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, and I get the feeling they like to be there! The food was unbearably -eyes closed while I ate - good. The ambiance was intimate and adorable. I can see why it's tough to get a table here. We shared an elote appetizer and the steak main course. It was a lot of beautiful food. No salt needed. That's how I rate my food at restaurants... if I have to request the salt shaker... and here, I did not. It was the best meal experience I've had in a long time. Highly recommend!

Phoenix has a food scene that is so good -- and Bacanora is among the brightest stars. Tucked away on a colorful corner of Grand Avenue, you want to make the trip. The food here has been next level when we have been. I cannot say enough good things. The chicken is way more than enough to share and the quesadillas that come with it themselves are worth it. The steak is also first rate and elote is also a must do. You're going to get a lot of food so be ready to share to try a few things. The service is friendly and fast (you have 90 min only, but that's not been a problem that I've experienced). Overall the food is the standout - the wood fire cooking is insanely flavorful. The vibe is unique. And you need to book your table now.
Michelle D — Google review
First off the restaurant can seat only 30 people that why it's hard to get it. We got the $300 ribeye and it was a little tough for me to justify spending $300 on it. They said it was a dry aged prime steak but it didn't taste like a dry aged steak at all. I've had them before. Salsas and the sides they give you with the steak are really good. Flour tortillas are really good too. Overall cool spot just not a prime steakhouse. Just keep that in mind.

Absolutely one of a kind! I have been wanting to visit for months but I live out of town and got lucky with a walk in on a Saturday. The host was so accommodating finding us a last minute spot. Best to get yourself a reservation though! The food felt like an experience and we loved the atmosphere and Bacanora team.
Chelsea O — Google review
We recently dined at Bacanora and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the service was excellent—Skye took great care of us throughout the evening and even brought us a couple of shots on the house to make up for the issues with our bone marrow dishes. Both the Bacanorita and the michelada were solid drinks, and the octopus made for a very good appetizer. Unfortunately, the bone marrow dish was a disappointment. The first serving had less than a tablespoon of marrow. Our server acknowledged it should have been more and kindly brought a second one, but it came out undercooked—pink and cold. The third attempt was finally what it should have been and was amazing, but the inconsistency was hard to overlook. The short rib was fine, though it leaned heavily toward a sweet Korean BBQ flavor, which wasn’t quite what we expected. We were tempted by the ribeye, but at $300, the price felt extremely high. Overall, we’re glad we tried Bacanora, but between the inconsistencies and pricing, it’s not a place we’d return to.

Bacanora is a fantastic spot! We sat outside and it was beautiful—great energy and views. The mesquite-grilled flavors live up to the hype, and the service was warm and attentive the whole time. Perfect place to enjoy amazing Sonoran food and a lively Phoenix vibe.

What a great restaurant find! It’s so much cuter on the inside. Extremely friendly employees, fast service and very clean. We actually started at another restaurant and after being ignored for 25 minutes at our table we decided to try this gem and so glad we did! The whole fried red snapper was a feast for 2, accompanied by rice, beans, French Fries, salad & tortillas. Complimentary chips & salsa along with 2 huge Micheladas to start. Our bill came to $51. Would definitely return again the next time we’re in Phoenix. Gracias y buen provecho!!

I give this restaurant a 5 star. Because their food is very delicious. But I do have a complaint. The waitress' are horrible. We literally had two ask for our drinks, every time we needed a refill, and that is the only time that they would ask us if we needed anything never checked on us just on their own. The restaurant was packed and literally they were just standing there talking But other than that, the food was great

Asadero Toro is a hidden gem located near the Arizona State Fairgrounds, perfect for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine. This casual counter-service spot specializes in an impressive array of meat-centric dishes, including tacos, burritos, and tortas. The highlight here is undoubtedly their handmade flour tortillas that perfectly cradle a variety of fillings like grilled steak (asada), barbacoa, lengua (tongue), cabeza (cow head), chicken, and even tripe.
Carne burrito is bomb! Burrito itself has nothing but meat inside. However, they give you all the fixings that you could use. Absolutely amazing flavor soft tender. It’s not A grade meat but it does!

Good service... Decided to come in to this restaurant because google reviews was at a 4.2. however when we came in and received the food. Food was okay, it was lacking flavor and salt. Food was decently priced if you're okay to salt all your food. Fresh veggies to put into your order that's a plus.

Was refered by a friend. This place had excellent service. The ladies there were very nice. The food however was a very different story. We ordered tacos and a burrito. They came out plain. Just meat and tortillas. No side no salsa no pico no nothing. Had to go put stuff on it from an salsa bare that was completely picked through. The menu said one thing and we got something different. I would recommend a kitchen staff change how have those nice ladies go somewhere that has good food to support better tips for them

Absolutely loved this place. Quick, friendly service, reasonable prices, and fantastic food! They make their own flour tortillas in-house, and they are soooo fresh. I ordered tacos de cabeza and one lengua. The lengua was thick and chewy, great texture. A little salty though; would have preferred if they soaked it first to get rid of a bit of the salt. Cabeza was tender and falling apart, so delish. They have a nice little condiments bar too, where you can get salsa, avocado sauce, and radishes.

La Bamba Mexican Grill Restaurant is a vibrant and cozy spot that serves up authentic Mexican street food, with a focus on handmade tortillas. Located in El Mirage, it's known for its perfectly executed al pastor tacos featuring tender meat marinated in house-fermented pineapple vinegar. The flavors are top-notch, earning high praise from visitors who describe the tacos as heavenly and the overall dining experience as welcoming and familial.
You know me I'm always down for a taco and always have a huge list of places I still haven't been, but want to. La Bamba has been on my list forever and though fairly close to me in a neighboring city I've never made my way until today. According to The Phoenix New Times it's in the top 12 best taco spots in the valley. Located in El Mirage it's in a very unassuming shopping center with a small parking area. I hate to say it but I've driven by so many times and never even noticed thats where it's at. The sign is almost unrecognizable. I had mapped the location today so I finally noticed only because I was looking for it. The inside is quite small with a few tables and bar top seating. The menu is very small and you guessed it mostly tacos. You won't find rice and beans here or even a burrito. Tuesdays they offer Birria along with their usual tacos and tonight they let us know they'd be making tostadas. Their social media lets you know specials and such of items not always on the menu. Service works different here. By that I mean besides the wall menu and word of mouth from the employees you order at the counter. No one really tells you until the guy at the counter asks you lol. They have canned sodas, water etc. tacos come four to an order. We love our tacos so we ordered pastor, asada, chicken, shrimp. The presentation was awesome and it was like a charcuterie board of my dreams with pico and cucumbers etc. hot sauce was hot for sure. The man helping us even brought us over some Mexican sushi they made to try. It was very good. I'm a shrimp taco fanatic, but honestly the pastor won today! That little bit of spicy with the fruit topping was phenomenal. Service started a bit slow as they were busy and ony two people working, but once we had our turn it was wonderful the entire rest of the visit. Evryone including other customers were so kind. We genuinely felt so welcomed and appreciated. Prices were pretty fair for how full the tacos were. They don't skimp here! Have you been? What's your favorite taco spot?

Excellent made to order street tacos. It is not a fast food Taco place. Just need to chill out and be patience. You will not regret it. This is our 4th visit so I literally tried everything in the previous trips, pastor, asada, grilled fish, grilled shrimps, fried fish and fried shrimps. My all time favorite is the grilled shrimps, La Bamba styles, Delish! I got 3 tacos, husband and sons had 8 each. My order came first so I was busy eating and did not want to touch the phone. So no pictures of my husband and sons’s 16 tacos tray. Lol. Chef Garcia mentioned a new and bigger place that they are moving to so be sure to check and confirm the address before heading over.

You don't go to this restaurant for the atmosphere, you go for the fresh food and the fresh aguas frescas. The restaurant is very small and is more of a just eat and go restaurant. I had a carne asada, birria, and grilled fish taco. Most taco places don't offer fish tacos, I like that they did and not only that, they offered in two options either grilled or breaded. Since I am allergic to gluten I opted for grilled. I also had to try their elote, which was as expected, delicious! My ultimate favorite was the fresh I agua de piña (pineapple water), my friend jhad the agua de sandía (watermelon water) which were perfectly sweetened and so refreshing

Definitely try this place for a to go order but be willing to wait. Owner is super nice! Tasty tacos!! Wouldn’t consider going after dark. Not much room inside to eat. Needs so cleaning and updating for sure.

Saw this place on a TikTok Tok and it seems everyone else did. I love small businesses and his tacos were amazing! Just be patient as he is a one man shop… he might have to hire some employees after all the new business it if you go right now show some grace. He is super funny and upfront about it taking time to prepare. This is not Taco Bell… get an agua fresca sit back and relax. We had fun, loved the food and will definitely be back!

Chilte is a trendy and popular dining spot known for its experimental Mexican cuisine. The restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere and an innovative menu created by Lawrence Smith and Aseret Arroyo. Dishes like mussels with green chorizo, pozole recado with pork tomahawk, birria ramen, and quesabirria on squid ink tortillas showcase their creative approach to traditional Mexican flavors.
A Culinary Journey Like No Other at Chilte From the moment we walked into Chilte, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, but it was the food that absolutely blew us away. Every dish was a bold, flavorful adventure — you can truly taste the passion and creativity behind each plate. The chef’s vision shines through in a way that’s rare and unforgettable. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, not just about the menu, but about the inspiration and story behind each dish. Their insights added an entirely new layer to the experience and made us feel truly connected to what we were eating. And let’s talk about the drinks — each cocktail was perfectly crafted and complemented the food beautifully. My palate went on a full-blown adventure, and I loved every second of it. If you're looking for a place that delivers both soul and sophistication on a plate (and in a glass), Chilte is a must-visit. I am already planning my next trip back.

Chilte is an absolute gem! The food is incredible—every dish feels so carefully thought out and executed, with bold flavors that really stand out. You can tell the chefs put a lot of creativity and passion into how the dishes are crafted and presented. The atmosphere is vibrant and matches the modern, new-age Mexican vibe perfectly, making the whole dining experience feel fresh and exciting. Service was attentive and welcoming, which tied everything together beautifully. The only small thing I’d note is that because the space is on the smaller side, it can get pretty loud. Adding some sound-dampening materials would make it even more enjoyable. Overall though, I’d highly recommend Chilte to anyone looking for a unique, flavorful, and memorable dining experience 👌🏼.

Chilte is an absolute gem in the heart of Phoenix! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was electric — the music, the ambiance, the warm staff — all set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in the city. Let’s talk about the food: INSANE. The burger? Hands down the best my husband has ever had! The kitchen doesn’t just accommodate dietary needs — it elevates them. I’m gluten-free. Every dish was bold, intentional, and bursting with flavor. The craft cocktails were equally unforgettable — creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. Chef LT Lawrence Smith III is a culinary innovator and recent James Beard Award semifinalist. He is an emerging Chef, and you can feel his passion in every bite. Whether you’re local or visiting Phoenix, Chilte is a must. It’s not just a restaurant — it’s a whole experience. We’ll be back. Again. And again. Making a reservation NOW! – Kurt & DeAnna @CoupleyFit

Man this place has sooo much potential! But, just missed the mark on execution. Yucca fires were 10/10 best thing we ate. Other than that everything came out really luke warm. The plantain was uncooked and should’ve just been fried IMO. Flautas were overcooked and super hard to cut into. Fish just needed some freshness, spice and/or acidity. Mole, okra and beets all very earthy no balance. Crust on the baklava cheesecake was hard as a rock and inedible. Really wanted to like this place but it was a disappointment! 😩 service was good.

What a great first experience for a Saturday dinner. E recognized Chef LT Smith from the Food Network cooking competition '24 in 24' and said let's go to Chilte. We made reservations and the only seating available for 5pm was at the counter since mostly all the other seating was booked for that time. Upon entering it was bright, cozy, with an energetic vibe. The hostess sat us at the bar counter and that's where we met Alex, our bartender/server. He was super amazing. He welcomed us as we sat down. Whike he was making drinks and interacting with us, he went over the drink menu. The seasonal Guava Margarita caught my attention, so I ordered that and E ordered the red Sangria. Both were very refreshing. Alex went over the food menu in detail and suggested his favorites. There was much to choose from, but we started with the Antojitos - Yucca Frites. OMG I think I may have had yucca fries once before from a different restaurant but they did not come close to how excellent these tasted. The batter was nice and Flaky. The Yucca was soft but not mushy. So good especially with the aioli dipping sauce. I ordered the Mole de la Casa with oxtail for my main entree. These flautas were crispy crunchy on the outside with tender oxtail on the inside. The meat was a tad bit underseassoned but the Mole sauce helped with that. E ordered the Birria Tacos and devoured them. Even drank the consomme that was left over. As much as we wanted to try the Baklava Cheesecake we were stuffed. I saw it being served to another table and my mouth began to water. So it's ob my list for next time. I did stop in the restroom to wash my hands and it was a single restroom for all genders. Super clean and decorative inside. The bonus for this visit was we got to meet Chef who is awesome and down to earth. Thanks for a memorable dining experience.

One of the most amazing, mouthwatering, creative culinary experiences of my life. If I could afford to eat here every week, I'd do it. It is a bit raucous in this relatively small place, but the food from this genius chef is worth it.
Ethan B — Google review
The cacao beer was smooth and chocolatey without being too sweet, the perfect way to start the meal. The mole flautas filled with tender short ribs were packed with flavor and beautifully balanced. The steak aguachile was so refreshing with the jicama salad. To finish, the baklava cheesecake was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. Every bite felt thoughtful and unique, definitely a place worth revisiting.

Nestled in a quiet neighborhood of south-central Phoenix, Kiss Pollos Estilo Sinaloa is a hidden gem that food lovers should not overlook. Often described as a hole-in-the-wall, this charming eatery has gained recognition for its mouthwatering pollo asado tacos and other delectable offerings. Recently highlighted in the Yelp Top 100 tacos in the USA and even featured in Bon Appétit, it’s clear that Kiss Pollos is making waves in the culinary scene.
A really nice hidden Gem that specializes in chicken! A go to place I like going to for lunch. The sliders are amazing here, the food portion is a really good size I can't finish all of it. The Papa tacos are so good as well, the crunchiness the potatoes give and the red salsa take it to another level! I highly recommend this place!

Great tacos! Very affordable. The salsa bar is always fresh! Pretty sure its family owned bc its got home cooked flavors! Thanks 😊

I went for the first time today; it's tucked away with plenty of curbside parking. I had two KISS tacos and a 'flip' taco, the kiss tacos were a generous portion of flavorful chicken and a sprinkle of cheese. I added some of their excellent green salsa and thoroughly enjoyed them! The flip taco had delicious beans and more cheese than the taco had, it was excellent! When I go back, I will try the burrito and maybe a side of beans. The ladies working were very pleasant and welcoming. I love finding these kinds of friendly and delicious places!

It was a nice hidden gem tuck away in a neighborhood. Most may not go because of the area but it is a clean safe area. There were actually 2 caucasian business woman dining alone. So yeah, it's a safe quiet spot. My son and I drove over from Arcadia. First time there. We will be back to try the sliders.

They were recently featured in the Yelp Top 100 tacos in the USA survey a few months ago. It was on my radar, but I'd not yet tried them. I was eating elsewhere the other day, and thumbed through their copy of Bon-Appetit while I waited. I had a cover feature on the popularity, or resurgence of, Tacos. I scanned through that looking for key words Phoenix and Arizona, LOL. KISS was featured there, too! Well now, it's a MUST try. The owner verified that the KISS is what I thought it was. The traditional acronym of Keep It Simple, Stupid. Chicken.....just chicken. There are plenty tables, and it's roomy enough so as not to feel cramped. It's also KISS in that there's no real decor, no distractions of Tv, artwork, etc. So if you dine alone, bring your phone or something to read for stimulation, LOL. A local Spanish language newspaper is available on on the counter. The pollo is grilled, and it's not merely chopped-up, it's minced, very, very fine. You could probably chew it without teeth, LOL. The tacos are street-sized, silver-dollar style. The tostados are a bit larger. But, there was plenty of meat for the two tortillas in each serving if you peel them apart. My fave was the Flip taco. It was like a tostado in sandwhich form, with a cruncy flat tortilla on each side, and the addition of beans with the cheese and chicken. A small, but excellent salsa bar provides the typical toppings of chopped cilantro & onion, shredded (powered) cabbage, pickled red onion, and 3 house salsas. The 'mild' is a delicious tatamada style which was JUST at my tolerance limit. The red-hot and habanero were exactly what'd you'd imagine, favorful, but..ouch. I would point out that the tacos were moist enough that you didn't need any salsa. One of THEE standouts was the chicken slider sandwhich. It's a nice piece of tender fried breast topped with melted white cheese and a bacon-strip. Wings were healthy, but you probably want to be sure you order them with just the rub. I had to wipe-off the hot sauce from mine with napkins, just to be able to eat them LOL. Fries are really good, seasoned with seems like Lawry's salt, but I could be wrong. The rice is a simple, subtle flavor as a side. The beans, I didn't care for as much. They were charro-style, creamy, but just didn't bring the flavor matching the rest of the food. The next time I go I will try a couple of things with the cubed, fried potatoes. Drinks are strictly canned and bottled sodas and water in a cooler. No soda fountain. The only downside is that they close early, like 4pm...and parking is on the curb. It's worth it. Enjoy.

The Mission Old Town is a sophisticated restaurant and lounge that offers contemporary Latin cuisine and artisanal cocktails. It has two locations in Old Town and Kierland, each with its own unique ambiance. The Old Town location is situated next to The Old Adobe Mission, reflecting the area's rich history, while the Kierland counterpart boasts a more modern atmosphere with stylish decor and ample outdoor seating.
The food was wonderful, with large portions! We split the Shaved Kale Salad, and they brought out what looked like two full-size servings of salad. Service was great. We never felt rushed. The main dining area is very loud. Outside dining was much quieter. The outside dining in the back of the restaurant was much cooler than the front (east facing?). Reservations required.

We came here with our family an 8 top and they accommodated us wonderfully! We had a reservation and had excellent service. Most of us had drinks and they were all delicious! I had the steak tacos and wow it hit the spot! The meat is incredibly tender and full of flavor. We all loved the guacamole as well which we got 2 orders of. The energy here is very modern. We will definitely come back again. Definitely a great experience, service, food, and atmosphere!

We visited The Mission in Scottsdale after landing, with my husband, daughter-in-law, and grandson. It was just before the dinner hour, and while the restaurant itself had a nice setting, the service unfortunately left much to be desired. The hostess looked exhausted and not very welcoming, and our waitress greeted us with a tone right from the start. When my grandson asked if there were other drink options besides what she listed, she curtly responded, “What I told you is what we have, nothing else.” He then decided on a Shirley Temple, which arrived without any syrup and tasted off. When we mentioned it, she replied, “I made it and oh maybe the syrup is out,” but didn’t seem too concerned. The only time we saw her smile was when she handed my husband the check. On the positive side, the mahi mahi tacos were delicious. However, there were no food options for toddlers, and overall the service didn’t feel friendly or attentive. Considering the cost of dining out, it just wasn’t worth it. For us, this won’t be a place we try again.

We had the carnitas for two - absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this meal. We also ordered the guacamole which was served and prepared table side, which was fantastic. They even allow you to measure the amount of heat with the Serano peppers, so if you like it spicy or mild, you could get it however you would like. Chips and salsa were top notch, thin, crispy chips, and a very good salsa that was light and refreshing. We got the duck empanadas for appetizer, which were absolutely delicious. Unlike any empanada I’ve ever eaten. For dessert, we got their homemade ice cream, I would consider it to basically be Mexican Street corn, which was really good and really unique and very light and taste and palate cleansing. Our waitress was outstanding and suggested are entrée and dessert which we were very grateful for!

If you are looking for delicious 😋 Mexican come here I am vegan/vegetarian and ate butternut squash tacos(🌮 so good And the best I ever ate). I also had the cauliflower entree and it was also good. Then my husband raved about his braised short rib tacos and they were...a WOW factor! Our friends ordered chicken tacos and they were raving about theirs too. Jesse was an excellent waiter and took pictures of all of us.

We're from Austria in Europe and visited The Mission on our trip through the southwestern United States in our rented RV. We were quickly and easily assigned a table, and the friendly, smiling server immediately asked us what we wanted to drink and promptly brought water and the wine we ordered. The specialty, which most people eat here, is the guacamole. It's prepared at the table by a staff member and tastes delicious. A visit is definitely worth it; highly recommended. Klaus & Karin

It's been many years since we have been to The Mission, so I was happy to return for a birthday meal. They sat us promptly at our reservation time and I received excellent attention from all staff, including some happy birthday wishes. The table side guac is always a nice treat with a marg. I forgot you can sit outside, may try that next time.

Service was a bit slower than expected but overall a really great experience. The guac is top tier, I was going to order the corn and the server immediately made me change my mind and I don’t regret switching. You can tell the fresh preparation in all of the food. I had an amazing experience at Cien Agaves Tacos & Tequila. It was my first time so I wanted to try a bunch of items. I ordered an amazing dip. Chicken tortilla soup and Hawaiian shrimp tacos. Somehow they all ended up being extremely affordable because it was happy hour. My bill was only $24. I was expecting it to be $60. I’m definitely going back again. All of the staff really seemed to enjoy their job and we’re having fun in high-fiving each other. I feel like a manager stopped by every five seconds and asked if I needed a refill or if I needed salsa and if everything was OK. The vibe in old town Scottsdale is really cool. There was live music happening outside. Lots of people walking around.

Stopped by with my family and sat upstairs on the porch. You get a great overview of Scottsdale. Happy hour was amazing and definitely tasted freshly made. The standard cien agaves margarita was delicious. Definitely recommend the frozen margarita better than the over iced margarita. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed with others employees and forgot to grab our chips and salsa. Asked for certain items to be notified, which they were not allowed to be per waitress. Drinks made up for the attitude we received.

Breakfast restaurant
"The Henry" is an elegant eatery located in Phoenix's Arcadia neighborhood, offering a charming Gatsby-era dining experience. The restaurant features an American menu served all day, along with a full bar. With vintage red-velvet banquette seating and soft candlelight, the intimate dining space serves seasonal menus of prime steaks, chops, fresh seafood, locally sourced herbs, salads, vegetables, housemade pasta and desserts.
This was our first time visiting The Henry – “the neighborhood restaurant” and we left really impressed. From the moment we walked in, the ambience felt warm and stylish without being pretentious. The energy was lively, the cocktails were crafted beautifully, and the dinner menu had something for everyone. Service was attentive but not overbearing—just the right balance. We started with the crab cake appetizer and truffle fries, both of which disappeared quickly. For mains, we had the scallops with gnocchi (an incredible pairing), the short ribs, the filet, and the ahi. Every single dish was well executed, flavorful, and plated with care. I wish I had thought to take photos before we started eating, but that’s usually the best sign—when the food is too tempting to wait. Price-wise, The Henry feels very fair. The most expensive item on the menu is the filet at $54, which is reasonable for a steak of that quality. Overall, it strikes a nice balance of approachable and elevated—perfect for date night, dinner with friends, or even a more casual outing. The space itself is versatile too: plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with a vibe that works whether you’re dressed up or dressed down. One tip—make a reservation. It was busy when we went, and I can see why. All in all, The Henry lives up to its reputation as a “neighborhood restaurant” but brings an elevated touch that makes the whole experience feel special. We’ll absolutely be back.

Great restaurant! Came for a quick weekday breakfast where it is self seating ordering from the coffee bar till 10:30. Lots of people remote working. The food was fantastic. I got the California burrito as a bowl and it was so good. My partner got the quinoa burrito which he also thought was great. Staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Bonus yummy chocolate croissant Was not a fan of their iced vanilla latte coffee, I’d skip it. Otherwise I plan to be back
MEGHAN C — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Henry, and it was an experience worth sharing. From start to finish, the food, drinks, and atmosphere created such a memorable evening. We started off with their coffee selection, and it truly set the tone for the meal. The latte was smooth and perfectly balanced, while the cappuccino had that rich, bold flavor topped with velvety foam—just the kind of warm welcome you’d want before diving into a meal. For appetizers, we had the Spicy Tuna and Crispy Rice, and it set the bar high for the rest of the meal. The crispy rice had the perfect crunch, and the spicy tuna topping was fresh, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. It’s one of those appetizers you’ll want to order every time you visit. For the main dishes, I tried the Roasted Chicken and Avocado Salad, which was absolutely refreshing and well-balanced. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned, while the avocado added a creamy richness that tied the whole salad together. It felt light yet satisfying, a perfect choice if you’re looking for something wholesome. The Grilled Shrimp Taco Platter was another highlight—generous portions of tender, smoky shrimp tucked into warm tortillas with fresh toppings that added both crunch and zest. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the presentation was as inviting as the taste itself. To complement it all, I had the pineapple drink, and it was incredibly refreshing. Sweet, tangy, and vibrant, it was the perfect beverage to balance the spices and flavors of the meal. Beyond the food, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere at Henry is warm, stylish, and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that works equally well for a casual lunch, a dinner with friends, or even a special night out. I’ll definitely be returning, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for a restaurant that consistently impresses.

I was in love with this place as soon as we walked up! The signature green woven through out the decor and the wait staff clothing was perfect. Absolutely loved the food here. Highly recommend had a delicious brunch, a decaf latte and after the meal selected a gluten free pop tart to go. Everything was great. Had my bridal shower at the private kitchen, as you can see the area is super adorable, interactive and perfect space for group of 15! Girls had so much fun and amazing food, even leftover to go for the next day. We also ended up getting couple sweets from the cafe, gluten or not all delicious! Most important is the people that we have interacted with are kind, professional, responsive. Really appreciate all the help and coordination from Samantha and Priscilla, and the girls who helped set up the room, you made the day very special. Came in for Valentine’s Day lunch. Jesus was our server. He was a breath of fresh air. Very kind, courteous, and respectful. He definitely had some personality, which is what is needed these days in food service to make the visit memorable. The food was tasty, of course. Started off with the queso dip as an appetizer. It was beyond flavorful and enjoyable! Then we moved on to ordering tacos. Those two, were just the right size and packed with flavor! The ambience was great. Not too noisy… Just right! In short, I enjoyed my trip to this restaurant today! Great job to the team! Job well done…!

I have had the pleasure of dining at this FINE ESTABLISHMENT on 3 occasions now, all with a fraternal get together, of about 30 guests. Each and every time, the service, accommodations and food was FIRST RATE! Although the fare is a variation of the "Hispanic Cuisine", I am used to eating growing up in the Central Plains, it is quite enjoyable, tasty and memorable. Parking can be a challenge some times, as this is a very popular/busy shopping plaza, so take that into consideration in timing of meeting others for dinner. But I assure you it is well worth any inconvenience therein to enjoy this 'hidden treasure' in Latin/Spanish Dining.

I got here around 3. Plenty of seats available. Parking was easy and free. Food was good except the Mahi Tacos. Everything else was great. Would recommend if price is not an issue.

Blanco Cocina + Cantina 2502 E Camelback Rd #122, Phoenix, AZ 85016 I had the pleasure of being invited to lunch by a lovely lady from the Mexican community, and it was my first visit to Blanco Cocina + Cantina. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. However, there was a small incident that caught our attention—a little cockroach made an appearance on the wall behind us. While it startled my lunch companion, the manager promptly came over to address the situation and offered an explanation and apology. Although my friend was understandably a bit unsettled, I appreciate the manager’s effort to communicate with us. It would have been nice to see a complimentary gesture, like a drink, offered to help ease the situation. Cockroaches 🪳 are not something you want to see in restaurants

1st time here & came to do a business birthday lunch. Sammy our server was very helpful & attentive. The guacamole is phenomenal! The Mahi tacos were also good.

I visited Blanco Beltimor with a group of 10 friends. Our server was very kind and attentive, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, the experience with the bartenders was disappointing. The drinks were not well made, and when we politely expressed our concerns, their attitude was unprofessional and unpleasant. The place has potential, but the service at the bar definitely needs improvement.

Dick's Hideaway is a charming spot in Phoenix, part of the Richardson's Restaurants family. It offers a stylish yet rustic ambiance and serves New Mexican cuisine. The menu and bar program draw crowds, making it challenging to secure seats on busy nights. Locals often bring visitors here for an authentic taste of traditional Southwest flavors.
The food was absolutely delicious—authentic Mexican dishes made with real ingredients and bold flavors. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the portion sizes were huge. We all left full, with plenty of leftovers to take home. The fresh-squeezed orange and grapefruit juices were a standout—bright, refreshing, and clearly just-pressed (just please, dump the plastic straws..) Service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and relaxed. The vibe of the place is intimate and cozy, with warm lighting, dark wood tones, and a kind of secret, tucked-away feel (just like the name suggests). It’s got a moody, upscale cantina atmosphere that makes you want to linger over your food and drinks. Bonus: lots of free parking in the lot, which made the whole visit easy and stress-free.

Went for an early dinner. The food was delicious. Food came out hot and spicy which I like, even the tortilla that comes out my meal was hot. The server was amazing and never had empty glasses at our table. The atmosphere was nice and private, we went early which is most likely why. I have been here before, about 8 years ago. Food is just as amazing as I had back then.

I have been enjoying this restaurant for 13 years and it never disappoints. The food is tasty and the portions are huge. I usually take leftovers home every time especially if I order and entree that comes with a salad. The appetizers are tasty. Highly recommend the bacon wrapped jalapeños, carne adovada, the shrimp enchiladas, Vic’s meatloaf, dirty martinis, and cold brew coffee. The food can be spicy so be careful. Definitely a staple in the neighborhood and worth checking out.

Came to Dick's because a friend recommended this place... Staff immediately said hello with a friendly smaile...two different people waited on us, a male & female...both, very attentive and polite. They made recommended and chatted with us. Ordered onion rings, and they were good...my blackened fish tacos were terrific, and my wife's enchiladas were nice, hot & flavorful... All was going well, till my wife bit on a piece of metal in her enchiladas...she hurt her gum slightly, but feeling the sharpness of the metal - she was very lucky. She could have cut her tongue or worse... Another gentleman came over, profusely apologized, explained that it looked like a piece of knife that broke off during prep, and comped the meal. The genuine care & concern for my wife's well-being, as well as how good things were prior to the unfortunate incident - all this considered, I still gave the establishment 5 stars.

Crazy that I stumbled on this place. You can't find it which is probably why they call it a Hideaway! This place is soooooo cool on the inside and hard to believe it is in a strip mall. The people working there were super nice and invited me to look around which I did. Funny that I entered through what I thought was a service door into the kitchen! But that is the entry! I really really really loved the vibe. The drinks were the only thing that did not hit the 5 star - kinda average and highly priced (15 to 18 per drink). The actual food was great! Overall, was there at happy hour and it cost $60+ with the tip for 2 happy hour drinks and one happy hour plate (a little pricy for happy hour). Not sure I would go back but glad I got the experience
Ty A — Google review
This spot really lives up to its name. From the outside you would never guess how cozy and inviting it feels once you step in. The atmosphere is warm and tucked away, the kind of place you want to linger in over dinner and drinks. The food is outstanding with bold flavors and big portions that usually mean leftovers for later. Favorites for me are the bacon wrapped jalapeños, shrimp enchiladas, and carne adovada, though honestly everything I have tried has been solid. Service is always friendly and attentive without being overbearing, which adds to the laid back but polished vibe. It is one of those rare neighborhood places that feels both like a hidden gem and a spot you can count on time after time. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy authentic flavors and a little spice.

Always love this place! Breakfasts are truly awesome, and had a fabulous dinner (a first time for dinner) that was as good or better than breakfast! If you can't get a seat, head to Richardson's or Rokerji down the road for the same fare... both are also incredible!
Paul D — Google review
Fist time trying this place out. Was recommended by a friend. If you've never been here, you're sort of left to "figure it all out" on your own. Maybe that's the point since this place is very much set up with a Speakeasy vibe. There's no signage out front, which is fine. However, once inside, no one tells you what the deal is. We walked in (2 of us) and were told, "There's seating up top in the back." Ok, cool. We head to "the back" and go up the 2 steps. There's a little room with 2 long tables and 1 L shaped table. All 3 tables had people sitting at them. We quickly realized, thanks to menus and place settings, that this place is a community dining place! No problem at all, it was actually fun! I just feel like this is something you should be told upon arrival, so it spares the dumbfounded looks and confusion. Once we sat and got settled in, the service was pretty slow. The food was pretty tasty, and we will most likely visit again, although not in a hurry to return.

Great experience at Diego pops. Really enjoyed the Brussels sprout nachos with green chilli chicken. Great combination of flavours and very filling for two hungry people. Frozen margaritas were delicious, combo of watermelon and lime cucumber was 10/10. Great service and vibes and ambiance! Would definitely return again next trip to Arizona.

Favorite meal of our whole Scottsdale trip! What a gem. It's so cute from inside to outside they do not miss a beat. The sweet hostess sat us quickly at a big table; who doesn't love eating tacos on a leather couch?! I ordered chips and salsa/queso for the table and they were both so yummy. I ordered a fantastic cocktail that was served in a baby coconut and it was so cute & delicious. BRUSSELS SPROUT + PROSCIUTTO salad for dinner was a HUGE WIN. I added their grilled chicken and I cannot stop thinking about it. I love the way they bring out their 6 pack of salsas/sauces with the little menu card! Such a fun detail and they were all GREAT! A big shoutout to our hostess because I realized I had made the reservation for the wrong night, but she took care of it no problem. She was very kind! This was the only meal we said we would come back to the restaurant! Big Cheers! Thanks for a great dinner!

First time here and everything was great. The food, service and atmosphere all good. I had the mangonada which I didn't care for, next time I'll try the margarita. I would recommend this place for sure. Its super chill and relaxing. Everyone sat outside, we ended up sitting inside which was great...wasn't loud at all. Go check this place out.

Cute vibe as soon as you walk in. I was greeted and sat immediately. I ordered a watermelon mint rumita (because I hate tequila lol) and it was fabulous! I tried 1 of each taco; green chili chicken, charred skirt steak & the pineapple pork and a watermelon salad (guess I was feeling this summer day). Everything was fresh & juicy. Skyler was an absolute pleasure to have her wait on me. Whenever I'm in town again, I'll have to stop by!

Happy hour was sooooo delish! We had Brussel sprout nachos, huge, so many flavorful toppings, great to share! We loved the six chilled sauces they bring out and had fun trying them all. We also got a ceviche which was packing a punch but tasty. Will def be back!

One of the best happy hours in Scottsdale that goes on till 6pm! Fun atmosphere and friendly service. The food we had was decent but not great. Mexican restaurant
Carolina's Mexican Food - Cactus is a casual Mexican eatery in Phoenix that has been serving up traditional Valenzuala family recipes since the 1960s. Despite its unassuming ambiance, this spot is known for its fresh, homemade tortillas that accompany their breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes. Customers recommend trying the Oaxaca burrito and grabbing a dozen tortillas to go. The restaurant offers a variety of classic Mexican fare such as tacos and tamales.
This is excellent Mexican food starting with the basics. If you’ve never been here, I highly recommend ordering a butter tortilla. This may sound weird, but as you get closer to the border (Yuma, for instance) this is not an uncommon menu item. The flour tortillas are also sold by the half dozen or dozen so you can make your own burritos and quesadillas at home. The salsa is also some of the best you can find. It’s for tacos and burritos so it’s thin enough to sink in for flavor. I could go on and on, but really just try it and your tongue will tell you what you need to know.
Andrew M — Google review
The quality of food has gone down. The food tasted old & greasy. They don’t even put cheese on their over priced tacos. The tacos were mini not even regular size. I don’t expect or want any thing extra but at least give me what I paid for. Save your money, there are better options. Horrible place!
Monica J — Google review
Went here for the tortillas and they were excellent. Soft and tasty, very good. We had 2 burritos, the Oaxaca and Carolina’s. Both were solid and would definitely eat here again if I was in the area. Also liked the rice and beans. Salsa was just ok, little too runny for me, but they had plenty of it
John F — Google review
Chicken chimichanga was OK, small portion of Guacamole. Salsa very liquid, single flavor, some of the crew really liked it, but it was not my style. Prices were reasonable and food was up quickly. Would eat here again when in the neighborhood.
Charlie C — Google review
They have always been solid but a couple of nights ago not so much. Maybe because I went in the last half hour they were open and they were clearly in close down mode. First my food was cold like it was not made after I had ordered but before, it was not freshly made. Then I also got some tortillas which are usually very good but the ones I got not so much. They have a flowery texture like flower is on them not in them if that makes sense. They seem to be dusted with flower. Now since they have always been good I will be back and hopefully it was just a one off.
Paul M — Google review
Recommended by locals to us. It did not disappoint. The tortillas were delicious (recommend buttered tortilla, get more than 1 because you are going to like them). Prices were very reasonable and we like everything we tried. Will be going back for sure.
Aaron M — Google review
The curbside pick up "mailbox was full", so after waiting until pick up time, had to go inside. Bean burro was so salty it wasn't edible, and the tortilla appeared to have not been fully cooked. Enchilada wasn't thoroughly cooked. We've eaten at Carolinas for over 30 years. Our last few trips have been...disappointing. so sad

I've never seen any restaurant that has this kinda lazy workers. There is no urgency in addressing the customers. This fake perm guy was on phone taking a single order for 15 minutes while 4 people on the line trying to get their done orders which are just behind him. I walked to this laughing buddha looking guy to handover my order as he was doing nothing. He said that's not his job... haha... are you kidding me This fake perm guy took his sweet time which made this elder guy wait atleast 15 minutes, in the end he didn't even found his order.

Customers praise the flavorful Adoba and Carne Asada tacos as well as the carne asada burritos.
First time in. Really solid. Goat tacos, CevicheTostada and Refried beans all excellent. Could use some kind of background music and I would have liked a margarita, but all in all, it was excellent.

Amazing and fresh flavors. The ceviche was delicious without the overpowering citrus flavors you get with most ceviche. The tacos were also good. The meat was tender and flavorful with a slight smoky flavor. We will be back!

I have returned over and over again for their carne asada burritos. Probably one of my favorites of all time! The ordering and takeout process is also quick and hassle-free. — Loved the carne asada and al pastor burros! Loved the combination of rice, refried beans, onions and cilantro within the burritos! Customer Service was fast and friendly!
Jacquelyn S — Google review
Really delicious. They have 4 $2.25 tacos - Carne. Al Pastor. Beef Head. Goat. Other menu options as well that looked really good at other tables. Heaping topping on the vampiros that look like “tostada.” Service is friendly too. Don’t let the outside presents full you. Clean and modern feel inside. Looking forward to dying the hotdog. The horchata and Fresca is the only that was not great, just ok. Worth going back for goat.

Amazing tacos! Authentic. Cute environment. Friendly service. I’ll be coming back often! We tried the tacos, mulas, vampiros and dip. Everything tasted amazing. Can’t go wrong. Carne asada, cabesa, goat. It’s a perfect. Even the horchata was the bomb.

This is what i call a little whole in the wall that's modernized. Clearly the people who own this place are putting in some good work and making some delicious Tacos. Just look at the pictures! Fresh food market
Chula Seafood Uptown is a casual seafood restaurant located in downtown Phoenix. The restaurant specializes in fresh seafood from local and regional sources, as well as flown-in seafood. The menu features small plates and bowls as well as sandwiches and salads.
I crave seafood often, but I'm not always wanting to go spend big, and I'm not too trusting of a cheap seafood spot in the middle of the desert. So, stumbling upon @chula one day was the best surprise! Chula started in San Diego and eventually realized that other desert dwellers, like me, wanted fresh seafood too. Chula has three locations in AZ. I stumbled upon the Uptown locatio, but they are also in South Scottsdale and Grayhawk. This upcoming Saturday their south Scottsdale location, called Rosie, is celebrating 8 years. Stop by for two buck shuck oysters, prizes, and more. The other two locations will be doing the two buck shucks as well! Check out their website for the daily menu at each location. My sister enjoyed her poke bowl and I took the suggestion of trying the popular California burrito with shrimp. It was amazing!!! The freshness and flavor was mouthwatering. The burrito is huge so it can easily be shared. I enjoyed a side of clam chowder as well and a tasty cocktail. It's a great value for delicious seafood, and I will most definitely return.

We got oysters and ceviche for happy hour 3-5. Oysters were small but super fresh Ceviche came with nacho chips but had a lot of shrimp in it. Everything was fresh!

Im a stingy critic but I have to go all stars for this one. Top notch food which felt fresh! I spent a lot, but it was worth it. Grilled oysters and Lobster mac and cheese are MUST TRY! We tried a lot of dishes: Crispy fish taco 4/5 Raw oysters: 3/5 Grilled oysters: 5/5 Lobster mac and cheese: 5/5 Chowder: 2/5 Fish and chips:4/5 Hot Lobster roll: 3.5/5 Ceviche
Pramukh B — Google review
Tried this spot for the first time. Atmosphere and service were wonderful! We ordered the grilled fish sandwich, fish California burrito + a happy hour taco al pastor! • The fish in both the sandwich and the burrito tasted a bit dry, really needed the side lemon/lime to help. • The sauce in the fish sandwich was great, and the pickles were amazing - sliced super thin and crunchy! • The burrito was super heavy on the sauce, but overall a good choice. • The salsa that came with the chips + salsa side was great - perfect amount of tang. • The taco al pastor was SUPER spicy, needed additional water to wash it down, and my nose was running - just wish we would have been given a heads up on how spicy it was. Overall 6.4/10! We would still like to come back though and try additional things! ◡̈
Kathryn M — Google review
One of the hidden gems in Central Phoenix! We all had the California burrito with shrimp and a cup of chowder. Burrito is packed and delicious, great sauce and their salsa adds a little extra. Chowder was thick and flavorful. Staff great, didn’t wait too long for food. Definitely in the rotation!

Stopped in after a long time this restaurant was on my list and decided to go for it. I’m so glad I did! We participated in the AZ Restaurant Week event and ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees - Tuna Tostada & Cup of Clam Chowder and Shrimp Burrito & Tuna Melt. All the items were really tasty, fresh, and flavorful! I thoroughly enjoyed all the food and enjoyed how high quality it was. We also ordered a regular menu item - 3 pc fish & chips which were good! The fries ended up being a bit soggy because of the oil from the fish on top. The easy fix is to keep them separate instead of stacked. Ambiance is very cute and casual like a coastal cafe. I would come back when I’m craving quality grade and fresh seafood.
Amanda — Google review
Great ambience and the service was very nice! The poke needed a sauce but the clam chowder soup was quite good
Maddy C — Google review
If you love seafood, this spot has a good variety of seafood which you can buy from the menu or fresh. I tried the lobster roll and wasn’t impressed. It was tasteless, maybe some melted salted butter would have improved it. I had to add flavor to it by adding salt and pepper. Portion of the lobster roll was decent though. The shrimps and bisque were good. I also enjoyed their fries. I would definitely go back just to try something else.
