Restaurant
Fischereihafen Restaurant has been a staple for seafood lovers since 1981. The elegant maritime ambiance, reminiscent of an officer's mess with dark wood, gold and brass accents, and nautical romance, sets the stage for a timeless classic kitchen offering dishes like lobster fricassee on potato mousse and turbot with creamy Pommery mustard sauce. The experienced waitstaff adds to the overall charm.
We had a wonderful time at Fischereihafen Restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We tried the famous fish soup, and it was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was cozy and elegant, with a great view and a relaxing vibe. Definitely a place to come back to when in Hamburg!
Khusein K — Google review
I’ve been going to Fischereihafen Restaurant for decades, and so did my father—he was a regular, visiting multiple times a week without fail. It’s more than just a restaurant to our family; it’s a tradition, a place filled with memories and the kind of consistency that’s hard to find anywhere else. The food is always exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and prepared with a level of care that shows in every bite. Whether it’s their famous fish dishes or the perfectly seasoned sides, every meal feels like a celebration of quality and craftsmanship. The service is simply unparalleled. The staff greets you like family, remembers your preferences, and makes you feel truly welcome from the moment you walk in. It’s that rare combination of elegance, warmth, and professionalism that sets them apart. Fischereihafen isn’t just a restaurant—it’s excellence personified. A true gem that continues to raise the bar, year after year. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.

Beautiful classic fish restaurant in Hamburg - can really feel the history of the place. Fish and seafood dishes are excellent, all are very rich and buttery. Recommend the mixed starter, with 5 separate small items for variety. Service was excellent and decor very cool

This was my favourite restaurant in Northern Germany. High quality food, great service and the ambiance proper old school - I love it! The Scholle is so good! Must visit when back in HH!
River V — Google review
The food, the wine and the service is all impeccable. We love Hamburg in general, been here several times. But you can’t miss this gem. The waiting staff is very talented in my opinion. We didn’t have to think ourselves for even a moment. Thank you!

I have no idea what other people are eating when they say "world class"... but that was NOT our experience. Smoked Eel and scrambled egg was a novelty for a non-native and surprisingly, very pleasant. Everything we ate after that was a dissapointment. Staff were pleasant, if somewhat erratic and MIA, which is hard to fathom as there are a LOT of staff on the floor. My wife was really looking forward to a good Sole Meunière - unfortunately, over cooked, (seemingly either shallow or possibly deep fried, but didnt taste like it was done in butter?) the flesh was dry and the whole fish was presented naked, on a bare plate with a jug of what looked and tasted like a mix of hot vegetable oil and (possibly?) butter that she was to "dress" it with... ? Not great value for money at €75. (NB Had my wife insisted that I "not make a fuss" I would have sent both her's and mine back) The North Sea Turbot I had @€69.50 was equally dissapointing. Again it appeared to have been over cooked and possibly deep fried as it had a hard "shell" of flour or a batter of some sort all over it? The flesh inside was tasteless. The "mess" of overcooked vegetables created the final factor in the trifecta of dissapointment that was our €300+ last meal in the beautiful city of Hamburg. We were really excited to finish off our visit to Hamburg on a high note but left without finishing either main dish or the bottle of wine. We left quietly, very dissapointed and unsatisfied from what should have been, by all accounts, a sensational seafood dinner... Who knows, maybe the main chef was off on a Monday Night and they let the apprentice cook our meals?

This is fantastic! The place, the view, the people and the quality of the food is super. We had a dinner there.

Fish restaurant
Brücke 10 is a laid-back restaurant located at the St. Pauli Jetty in Hamburg, offering a delightful selection of seafood sandwiches and beers on a landing stage by the harbor. It stands out among the stalls with its reputation for serving some of the city's best fish sandwiches, including matjes herring, bismarck herring, and shrimp rolls. The bistro's motto 'Classic, Nordic, good!' captures its maritime charm and fantastic view of the Hamburg harbor.
I had a fish sandwich at Brücke 10, a seafood spot by the water. I tried a vinegary fish—not the breaded and fried one, but the other option—and I absolutely loved it! It was incredibly delicious. To go with it, I had an Astra lemon beer, a local specialty of Hamburg. Sitting right by the water, watching the sea, I had such a delightful time. I highly recommend it!
E G — Google review
One of the things on our to-do list in Hamburg was to go to Brücke 10 and have a fish sandwich 🐟 We went there in the late afternoon—there were only 2–3 people ahead of us, so we got our food without waiting too long. Luckily, we found an empty spot outside and enjoyed our Fischbrötchen (backfisch) and beer with a view 🍻 It was truly fresh and delicious. A tasty and filling street food option at a reasonable price—a true Hamburg classic. 👌🏼
İrem A — Google review
There was a separate takeaway kiosk that was super helpful in avoiding the long queue for a dine-in table. Hot but windy place so many choose to wait to sit under some shade. There’s some seating area above it as well under some umbrellas. Worth a try from the takeaway kiosk — the smoked fish was delicious with the right level of saltiness and fishiness (little)!
Jie T — Google review
What else can be said about this classic? I can only vouch that it has to be a mandatory stop in your trip. Authentic and accessible, the sandwiches are fresh and flavorful. While interacting with the service is limited given the nature of the no-frills place, the contact was always friendly.
Alonso A — Google review
Good spot for fish sandwiches! We really enjoyed the fish sandwiches — tasty and fresh. It’s a self-service place, which is totally fine, but the eating area could be a bit cleaner and more organized. Still, a nice stop if you’re around the harbor.
Hasby — Google review
it’s the restaurant with the longest line of queuing in this area. the Bismarck sandwich is great with a bit sweet-sour taste. The shrimp sandwich is second to salmon sandwich I think. At last, a bee ruined my drink!
Zeal Z — Google review
The raw fish bread was simply beautiful. Fresh fish, tasty bread with onion really makes a great combination. Love it to every bites
Ngọc T — Google review
We stopped by Brücke 10 on recommendation, but the experience was underwhelming. Entering the terrace, we were met by a young staff member who seemed more focused on lecturing us than offering a bit of friendly information. If it hadn’t been recommended, we probably would have walked away after that. We ordered the fishball sandwich, which turned out mediocre at best. Maybe our expectations were too high, but it simply wasn’t memorable. On the plus side, the price level matches the quality – €4.60 feels fair. What really didn’t help was the number of pigeons walking around between the tables, which made it less than comfortable to enjoy the food. All in all, not a place we’d make an effort to return to.

am kai | restaurant. seafood. drinks. elbblick is a sophisticated dining spot with a terrace that offers stunning views of Hamburg's maritime beauty. The carefully prepared Mediterranean and Asian-inspired seafood dishes not only delight the palate but also please the eye. With its beautiful interior decor and breathtaking harbor vistas, this restaurant promises an unforgettable culinary experience for you and your favorite person.
We have very much enjoyed our dinner at ‘Am Kai’. With a beautiful summer evening and outside heating provided later in the evening, this modern, trendy and chic restaurant provided a great atmosphere. The terrace is viewing the river Elbe and the harbor of Hamburg. Food was absolutely delicious! Style and taste are modern, surprising and every moment pleasing. We ordered (family style) swordfish ceviche and beef tartar followed by ravioli topped with truffle. As a main we shared the seafood platter with some sides. We loved their wine and champagne recommendation. Service was outstandingly friendly, a nice touch of a personal note included with all recommendations hitting our taste. All in all, this trendy chic location, quality of seafood and fish combined with the lovely service, it is now one of our top favorite restaurants in Hamburg!

Great sea food with an Asian twist. Good value for the money. Try the oysters ! And the Earl Grey cocktail
Peter N — Google review
WOW! That’s the only way I can describe this place. I’m living since long in Hamburg and this became my new favorite restaurant! The menu was delicious and all the little additional bites we got from the kitchen made it even better! Service, view, food all unbeatable! Definetly recommend

Gin was the nicest waiter! He made the whole dinner experience 100 times better. Food was delicious! Specially the lobster starter and the ceviche. 100% recommend!
Andrea L — Google review
Great location on elbe River, pretty fancy location replicating the container area and with a nice view on the maritime station. The food is nice with great presentation in spite the taste might be a little bit upgraded to be really super top, I assume of they would make it they might get something lore than a mention in the michelin guide. The service is good, precise and kind in spite might be consistent overall the whole evening. If you want to impress someone than this might be your place.
Federico F — Google review
It was an absolute highlight. Location is beautiful. Service outstanding and the food a fine experience of different flavors. My favorites “pulp carpaccio” and the dessert “blueberry cheesecake” it is way more than you expect.
Eva A — Google review
Great foods and great suggestion of wines and liquors. Espresso martini and gin are really good. Foods are also good. We had tartar beef and yellowfin as starters and fried whole fish and deep fried prawns. The only thing I cannot give 5 stars is waiting time for food.
Jun 4 — Google review
We did not enjoy Au Quai/Am Kai at all. In fact its one of our worst experiences of “fine dining”. Lets start with the food. We took the tasting menu which consisted of 5 dishes: 2 starters, 2 mains and a dessert. The starters (“amuse gueule” and the yellowfin tuna) were not bad. In fact we later dound out they were the best part of the meal. From there we got to the bouillabaisse - that dish was way too salty, with a broth that we could not eat. 5 pieces of fish (one of each kind) and thats it. We left it as is. The other starter was the cod. While the cod was presented nicely (picture attached) it lacked any taste whatsoever. Tasted quite dull. The jerusalem artichoke creme and fennel were also very salty. We ate it only because we were hungry. The dessert was a chocolate fondant. Not different to the one you would get in the local italian restaurant. Average by all means. From here we go to the service: - Not taking plates after theyre finished and bringing in new plates. - Water pitcher that was left empty and on the table for 30 minutes before someone took it. - Waiters unorganized, we got the desserts menu despite us ordering a tasting menu. - Napkin that was taken from my wife (maybe it was dirty?) and not returned - so she used mine for the rest of the bill. - 10 minutes to wait for the bill after sitting in the restaurant for 3 hours (theres a long waiting time between the dishes). And to top it all of, I have never ever been in a restaurant that charges €8 for water and its not even bottled! Came out of a “beer tap” into a pitcher. Filtered water? Not sure. The only bright side of the night was the bartender, the only person in the team that identified thing’s proactively and made it a little less terrible experience. Paying €200 for the food and service is not justifiable. You ruined my wifes birthday. Dishes that are presented nicely is not enough, they need to taste good as well. Will not return!

I absolutely love this place! I went with my colleagues, and we had an amazing experience. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the atmosphere was perfect—warm, inviting, and lively. The service was excellent too. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and a fantastic dining experience!

Amazingly good fish. Can be one of the best salmon I have ever eaten. The combination with gnocchi, truffle and leek, turned the dish into another level. Good pairing with a German white wine that I forgot the name of,and didn't take any picture of. The Lemon sherbet with vodka, was surprisingly refreshing, and the alcohol did not take over.

Very nice place, with a great view and vibe. The food was super delicious. We had pulpo, ceviche, codfish and another starter with tuna and beef. All were amazing. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Their recommendations helped us a lot. Definitely recommended

Really, really good restaurant. Quite expensive and some might even say, waaay too expensive... It is expensive and no Michelin stars here, but it is actually also quite good service. To be honest, our waiter was very slow to get "started up" but after "demanding his attention" a few times, he started to get the point and from there everything was great! The food tasted really good and seemed fresh. Even the oysters were fresh in taste and overall, great food experience!

Erika's Eck is a traditional tavern located in Sternschanze, Hamburg, known for its hearty meat dishes and regional beers and wines. The establishment is popular among locals and post-club goers due to its all-night opening hours and generous portions of schnitzel. The decor is simple with dark wood and game machines, but the focus here is on the food.
Erikas Eck, a Cozy Schnitzel Spot in Lively Schanzenviertel Lively Schanzenviertel is a tiny district brimming with cozy bars, vintage shops, and international restaurants set in colorful buildings. While walking and wandering through the area, I noticed a restaurant sign with a simple, small entrance door. Behind this unassuming door lies an establishment dedicated to schnitzels. The menu offers a variety of options, including pork schnitzel with different sauces, turkey schnitzel, and cordon bleu. Each dish features a very large schnitzel served atop fried potatoes with onions and pork ham cubes—delicious and generously portioned. Additionally, we tried the goulash soup, a creamy and flavorful dish packed with vegetables and tender chunks of meat, perfectly seasoned with paprika. The portion was satisfying, and the taste was excellent. The service was very friendly and helpful, adding to the pleasant experience. This is a great place that, if given the chance, I would happily visit again!
Uri M — Google review
Was maybe going to be 4 stars, but then I ate the German potatoes and they were 7 stars so averages out to 5. Busy place, needs more staff to keep up with demand. We were there on a Monday evening and just two staff members who literally didn't stop moving the entire time, clearly struggling to keep up with the orders. But they were very helpful despite us being just English speakers, and the food was delicious. Skip the roast beef, but definitely get the schnitzel. A neighboring table ordered a steak which looked fantastic, too. And do not skip the German potatoes (Bratkartoffeln)!
Philip P — Google review
We ordered jager schnitzel, potatoes gratin and currywurst. We were amazed on how big the serving was. Never seen a schnitzel which is bigger than the plate. We came in without any reservations, they told us we only have an hour. But they were not that strict with that hour. Yes, it was not only us who were told we only have an hour. I think that is how it is when you come without a reservation. We will definitely try it again. We went home with a filled tummy. We can roll like a ball after. 🤭

OK - I get the hype on Tripadvisor and promotion of german food culture, which also led ME to this place on a cold tuesday in November. At 1800pm, the place was PACKED but I was still kindly accepted to a shared 4 person table. Already socialy compromised, we were later joined by another THREE guys - now seated 5, we were litterally on top of each other. Not good. YES, they serve german food on large plates and the beer is cold and tall. But the quality of food is severly lacking - its to fast for too many guests. Schnitzel Wiener Art was medium size, dark, dry and tasted like...nothing. compliments were huge portion of overcooked roasted potatos (a pinnacle in german cuisine!), a slap of the usual unfreezed overboiled veg, and a sponful of the worst "salad" (=raw china cabage, what?), tomato vedge, and a 1/4 citrus. It tasted like NOTHING, unsalted, unbuttered, dry, no sauce, soft and bland. Which is usual for "german food", but it could be so much better. Total of EUR 31,30 for Schnitzel and one local beer is OK and I was out again within the hour. Waiter was waiving for extra tips. He didnt get any. Too much, too hasty, too many. Concentrate, please.
Morten K — Google review
A charming old-style restaurant. We ordered schnitzels, and none of us could finish them – and we were really hungry! The portions were huge. I’m so glad we had the chance to eat there. 🍽️
Kasia G — Google review
Very authentic dishes here! A local told us to try it! So if you’re looking for German foods it’s a must! And it’s one place around town that is open late!
Adriene P — Google review
We were traveling to Germany for the first time and stopped to have German cuisine. We noticed the restaurant was extremely busy on a Saturday night so we decided to do take out. We had the schnitzel and soup and it was delicious! The schnitzel meal had a larger quantity of potato on the side. It was a huge meal that we had leftovers for the next day.
Meghan K — Google review
Huge schnitzels - but really the food is not the star here. It’s a dive bar time pocket that’s definitely out of the ordinary - or maybe the essence of ordinary 🤷‍♂️ either way totally worth a visit 🤘

Nestled in a historic 1700s building overlooking the picturesque Hamburg harbor, Zum Alten Lotsenhaus is a culinary gem that has been delighting patrons for over two centuries. Originally established as a clubhouse for the pilots' fraternity dedicated to rescuing lost navigators on the Elbe, this charming restaurant transitioned into its current form in the early 19th century due to its popularity.
Very nice restaurant above Elbstrand. Friendly waiters, fast service, nice millieu and tasty dishes with many fish on the menu. We visited at a rainy Sunday afternoon, got a table immediately - I guess when it's sunny it could be a challenge, but the terrace seems to be large enough to accommodate many. The kids offer is chicken and fish fried in breadcrumbs - gourmet version of course. The fish was very tasty and stylishly served. They also have snacks on the menu like fish&chips and the chocolate cake is highly recommended 🙂 Prices are on the higher end but the quality of the food and the service make it worth. I think we will come back here from time-to-time.

Very interesting menu and great taste to be experienced. An excellent choice in very cosy surroundings . The service is friendly and professional. Apart from the set menu you can order a la cart.
Ilias P — Google review
Walking along the Elbe on a sunny afternoon, you’ll likely be tempted to stop at Zum Alten Lotsenhaus’s beachfront kiosk. With its open-air setting, shaded tables, and prime riverfront location, it looks like the perfect pit stop — and in many ways, it is. But don’t expect a culinary highlight. The Real Star: The River Elbe What makes this place special isn’t the food — it’s the view. Sitting here, you’re face to face with the mighty Elbe River, watching ferries glide by, container ships being loaded across at the terminal, and sailboats dancing between them like locals who know this river by heart. It’s the kind of scene that makes even a simple snack feel like a moment worth savoring. Simple Menu, Uneven Portions The menu is straightforward: • Fish & Chips – €15 • Calamari with fries and aioli – €15 • Fries with cheddar and truffle mayo – €10 • Plain fries – €8 We tried the fish & chips and the calamari. Both were freshly fried and tasted good — crispy on the outside, soft inside. But here’s the catch: while the fries were generously served, the fish and calamari portions were on the small side. For €15, you’d expect a bit more than a few bites of seafood. Still, if you’re just looking to snack and not feast, it hits the spot. Drinks & Atmosphere The drink list includes local beers like Astra (€3.50), Erdinger (€6), Holsten (€4.60), and others, all served cold and with a smile. The laid-back rhythm of the place fits perfectly with a slow sip and some people-watching. Service: No Rush, Literally You’ll have to order at the counter, pay, and wait for a pager to buzz when your food is ready. Staff are polite, but service is not fast, so be prepared to wait a little — ideally while soaking in the river breeze and watching the next ferry dock. Conclusion Zum Alten Lotsenhaus’s kiosk is more about the Elbe experience than a culinary one. Come for the ships, the salty wind, and the view that reminds you you’re in Hamburg — a city where logistics and leisure float side by side. The food? Tasty, simple, but portioned like a teaser. Still, with a cold beer in hand and container giants in the background, you probably won’t mind too much.

Came here for a date with my partner while visiting Hamburg. We took the fairy from the city and it was a short walk directly from there. Absolutely worth the little trip out, the quality and taste of the food was amazing. We both felt that a comparable restaurant in city center would have cost 2 to 3 times more. Highly recommend it, we plan on going back!

Perfect place for a dinner on the warm summer day. Have a nice view from the terrace above Hamburg port. Personnel is friendly and service is quick enough. Food was also a pleasure. Prosecco -risotto with Garnelen and Jacobsmuscheln was tasty, though prosecco I didn't taste :) Salmon with gurken salat was also yummy

No complaints, but no highlights, which is something I would expect from a restaurant in this price range. The staff was friendly, the food okay. We sat outside and it was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the summer. Very nice, but not memorable.

Nice location, with view to the beach. Staff was nice. There was a menu in English. Food was served pretty fast, even with the restaurant full of people. The food, however, was nothing special. I had a risotto and, for the price, it disappointed me. Clearly you are paying for the view. I'd say super nice place for drinks, but I wouldn't choose it for a proper meal.

It was lovely, the food was extremely delicious. The "Pulpo" as an Appetizer was great and the Loup de Mer was so good!!! The desserts are very good too. The young man who served us was joyful and kind. I would only recommend some instrumental music, since is a little restaurant you can hear all the people's conversations around, maybe some background music would be nice.

Henssler Henssler is a sleek restaurant known for its innovative set menus featuring a wide variety of sushi and sashimi plates. The restaurant, located in a former fish hall, is managed by TV chef Steffen Henssler's father Werner and brother Peter. With over 15 years of experience, the Henssler name has become synonymous with top-quality sushi in Hamburg.
Surprisingly Impressed – and I’m Not Even a Sushi Fan! I’ll admit it upfront—I’m not usually into sushi. But there should be a good reason why this restaurant is already decades long.. The quality of the fish was top-notch, the presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh and well-balanced. What really stood out was the variety—they always have something new!The staff was super friendly and happy to make recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. And they even decorated the table for my boyfriend's bday! So cute! If you’re a die-hard sushi lover, you’ll be in heaven. Highly recommend!

Great place! Very good service, the only thing that made me question 5 stars is host who does not speak English. But all the waiters do speak English! Atmosphere and interior is interesting, but a bit not cozy. Food was great, a bit overpriced, as, for example, crème brûlée was not breaking properly. Overall good impression, strong 4 ⭐️

All in all a wonderful experience with very delicious food. The sushi was definitely special and something I never had before. The service was very forthcoming and truly professional. Even though the dining room was getting fuller by the minute, the service was right on time. The Prices were a little bit high for my taste, but not uncommon, especially in that area. The quality of the food they presented justified the prices anyhow at the end. Definitely recommendable.

The service is good, all the staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is good, nice ''industrial'' modern style. The food.......it's pretty much ''Europeanized'' sushi. For German/European standard, it's good sushi. But for Japanese standard, that's too much sause on top. Eating tempura with mayo and dipping sauce, not with dashi wasn't really for Japanese. We ordered the MIX sushi plate, all the sushi and sashimi were covered with sause, which kills the actual taste of fish, which was a bit dissapointing. Using paprika for sushi is just not a good idea. Paprika has too strong taste for sensitive sushi. Sake was good, goes well with sushi. It was very nice to have a wet hand towel, I felt like being in Japan.

The best sushi I have eaten in Germany. Really good, be aware that the price is a little bit high but it is worth it. I will come back for sure. Everything is fresh and yummy. Despite its unassuming exterior, it's highly popular with locals and visitors alike. The atmosphere is unique and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy delicious home-style food and drinks.
Popular traditional cafe bar with an excellent menu to appeal to all tastes. Fast, efficient and friendly staff were very attentive and helpful. I settled on having the St George Breakfast with a glass of grape juice. Excellent quality, totally delicious and stunning value at only €8.80 for 3 bread rolls, rustic bread, assorted cheeses, ham or turkey, smoked salmon, salami, marmalade, butter, a boiled egg, pot of jam and carton of honey. FANTASTIC I was so full I had to let my meal settle so had a cold glass of Jever before continuing sightseeing in Hamburg. Frau Moller, I will return

Very popular with locals and visitors alike but didn't have to wait for a table for one. Indoor & street seating. Authentic German cuisine at excellent prices. Well worth the short walk from the Hbf and plenty of St Georg bars to try on the way back. Had the Bratkartoffeln mit Rührei - so lecker and great portion size. Went back later during my stay for more! Cash only - no credit cards!

The best schnitzel ever! This place has such a fun atmosphere and many people seem to love this pub style restaurant. The staff was friendly and the portions were big! The only minus is that its so populär you have to wait some time…

Simple and good German food. The staff were kinda in a rush all the time, that’s why they didn’t seem particularly welcoming, but that’s fine. However, the food came super quickly and paying was fast as well. There were a lot of people inside the pub at the time we ate there so it was quite loud

This is a place, if you want to taste authentic north-german food. My wife and I ordered the Hamburg Eel Soup, "Lange Anna" and Pickled Young Herring ala Helgoland. 1. Lange Anna : Flaky texture of the fish fillets. The sauce was so smooth. The cheesy and creamy flavour profile of the sauce were perfect for cold days. The basmati rice was a superb side dish to soak up the sauce. 2. Pickled Young Herring ala Helgoland : The three different sauces were the highlights of this dish. This was an acquired taste for foreign tourists though. However, this was one of the iconic dishes of North Germany. 3. Hamburg Eel Soup : The acidic taste of the soup brightened the fishy aroma. However, the restaurant could work on taste of the eel in the future. The strong freshwater aroma, especially from the skin and fat layer of the eel pieces somewhat disturbed. Slightly bigger, more eel pieces or using smoked eels instead of the fresh one could have accentuated this dish better.

Great restaurant in a beautiful location. Crayfish soup was very interesting, different to other crayfish soups I’ve had in my life - more creamy and filling rather than bouillon style. Was told to come check this place out by a relative from Denmark. It doesn’t disappoint. Food was great. Service was great. Such interesting decorations. We were asked if we had reservations when we walked in, which we didn’t, but they sat us immediately. The schnitzel is huge, share it with someone, unless you’re Matt stonie.

Food here was great! I got the Hamburg classic traditional pannfisch with spinach and fried potatoes. Pannfisch was 3 different fillets of white fish, each tasting distinctive and very flavorful. The sides were delicious and balanced the dish perfectly. Service was a bit underwhelming. We got seated way in the back and forgotten about, despite the restaurant being only half full. We had two waitresses who didn't really coordinate well so there was too long of a delay in taking our food orders. Otherwise a fine service experience. The interior of the restaurant was very full of character, highlighting the many famous people who visited since 1795. Lots of nautical decorations as well, so it almost feels like the inside of a ship. Recommended.

We had our last dinner in Hamburg here, and it was exceptional. The staff were very friendly and supportive. We tried the shrimp soup, which was a perfect starter. The labskaus with matjesfilet was something special—it felt like a symphony of tastes in the mouth. The schnitzel was also quite tasty.

What a great place... good food, nice service. But no wine list ?? And ending up with the " cheapest " wine 45 euro. .. for with the food ? You could see most people went for water or lemonade or beer . I don't see myself going out for dinner.. alone taking a bottle of wine for 46 euro. Very sad
John S — Google review
The place is good, but the main problem is that it is unreasonable expensive. Just one Salmon + 2 soft drink costed 45 Euros. The service was not great but acceptable. It worth it to visit once but prepare yourself for the surprising price 😉

The resturant is fancy and respectfully famous. I tried the vegan menu for dinner and unfortunately i saw only 1 option. I took what is available and it is mostly vegetables with rice. Taste is ok., nothing special. One experience is that my overshirt was scratched with 1 heavy plastic bottle pack when employees were moving them through the tight passage behind our chairs, He did not even notice. I had to check it and take it out from where it was.

Nestled in the vibrant Schanzenviertel of Hamburg, La Sepia is a charming eatery that specializes in traditional Portuguese seafood. This cozy restaurant offers a delightful array of dishes, from generous platters to shareable tapas and classic entrees, all crafted with fresh ingredients. On warm days, guests can enjoy their meals under the shade of a large tree outside while sipping on wine and soaking up the lively atmosphere at Neuen Pferdemarkt.
We made a reservation and had our Christmas Day dinner here and was not disappointed, friendly staff fantastic food and they were very helpful with my gluten-free restrictions. I was just in Lisbon in May and so it was delightful to have some more Portuguese food again. I ordered the grilled salmon and prawns on a skewer and it was absolutely fantastic.
Brittney N — Google review
Finding truly delicious seafood dishes in Germany is often considered quite challenging, and locating an excellent seafood restaurant can be even more difficult. However, I recently had the pleasure of discovering a place in La Sepia (Hamburg) that serves genuinely delicious Portuguese-style seafood. I ordered a Portuguese-style mussel dish for my main course. Before this arrived, I was first served complimentary bread alongside beer, and a simple starter accompanied by a rather special sauce, which set a very pleasant tone for the meal ahead. The main mussel dish itself was superb. It felt quite remarkable to find seafood of such high quality in Germany. The freshness of the seafood was apparent. The octopus legs were cooked to just the right point, being tender and not at all tough, and similarly, the texture of the clams and mussels was excellent – not rubbery in the slightest. The sauce complementing the seafood was well-judged and enhanced the flavours beautifully. Even the small complimentary items given as service had a good, non-chewy texture. This restaurant offers a truly commendable seafood dining experience, standing out in a country where finding seafood prepared to such a standard can be hard to come by.

Tasteful restaurant where you can spend a nice evening and enjoy delicious food. The menu is small but very well put together. Mind the only issue the tables are facing the street, which makes the conversation a bit unpleasantly ruined by the noise. All in all it is the place you would come again and I definitely can recommend everybody who looks for delicious seafood restaurant.

Great atmosphere, best fish in town! I’ve been coming here for over 20 years (even back at the old location), and it never disappoints. Since the new manager Boogie took over, the place has stepped up even more… excellent quality and service all around. Make sure to book a table in advance; it’s always busy!

We had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant last night. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent—friendly and welcoming. We ordered the lobster bisque, mussels (which came with bread), and the seafood rice. Every dish was spectacular and full of flavor. We ate a lot, yet the total bill was only €60—great value for such high-quality food and service. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

Recommended to visit?: No! Reason for visiting? Our hotel was just around the corner. My (subjective) takeaway of the restaurant and its crowd: It’s a pseudo seafood joint, but actually a rip-off preying on unsuspecting Germans and tourists. Were the food and drinks delicious? The bread and boquerones were decent, but the BBQ squid was an absolute joke—it was boiled and had never been near a grill. And four pieces of sepia for €24.50? Ridiculous. The cod fillet wasn’t grilled either, despite the claim “FROM GRILL” on the menu. Don’t be fooled. NONE of the seafood under. "FROM THE GRILL" gets grilled. The Grauburgunder “Becker” at €29 a bottle was no better than a €8.95 supermarket wine. Service style? Friendly, no complaints there. Price-performance ratio? Absolutely abysmal—probably the worst I’ve experienced in months. It’s a blatant money grab, with “plates” going for €45–85 per person. Atmosphere? It’s alright, as long as you don’t mind your food being reheated in a microwave. What did I like specifically? Umm... the bloke at the table next to us had a cracking jacket. Would I visit again? Only over my dead body. Comments: If my wife files for divorce because I suggested this place, I wouldn’t blame her.

First dinner on our first night on a whirlwind trip to Hamburg! We chose Freudenhaus because we were looking for a place that served German food with vegetarian options. I'm not 100% sure if the translation Google was providing of their menu were accurate or just interesting interpretations, but the vegetarian menu on their website came out translated as "For the flower understanders" – Okay, either way I'm in. It was a busy time in Hamburg in the middle of the Reeperbahn festival so we were worried about getting a table, but we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server accomodated our English and even provided a menu in English. My sun had a mushroom pasta, which he thought was good, and I had a schnitzel dish made with a celery-based "meat." Now that didn't necessarily "sound" good, but it really was a thoughtful offering to give us a schnitzel-like experience in Germany. The potatoes it was served with were well cooked and added a nice heartiness to the meal. They also have a pea soup, usually served with meat but which can be prepared vegan upon request. Freudenhaus is on a side street, a short block off of the main Reeperbahn Rd. So, very easy to get to. If you're looking for authentic German food with vegetarian options, this is a great place to go.

Great little restaurant off the main strip in St Pauli. Really inviting inside, comfortable and tables all have some space between them which is nice. I had a delicious labskaus and unfortunately could not finish it all. Recommended.

The food was tasty, and very abundant. Typical German dishes. Service was correct. The decoration is nice, white table cloths. It is a nice place to go from casual, to business to romantic. It has a bistro feeling. A little bit pricey. We did not enjoy the sexy art of the backroom as we were seated in the main room :)

Went there on a recommendation and booked beforehand. Service was extremely slow, and there was a gap of more than one hour between starters and main course. When we inquired when the main course would arrive we were simply told that that's just how long things take. No word of apology, no gesture of goodwill. Several tables adjacent to ours had similar problems with having to wait forever for their food to arrive. The main courses did arrive in the end (nearly 2 hours after we had entered the restaurant), and were not even particularly tasty.

Nestled along the picturesque Elbe riverbank, Hoppe’s Restaurant is a delightful spot that combines classic fare with refreshing cocktails. While some may find the prices on the higher side, many patrons rave about the fantastic food and friendly service. The ambiance is perfect for unwinding after a day at the beach or enjoying a night out with friends.
Had a good experience dining here. The food and drinks were really delicious. The staffs were nice, and friendly. Seating areas are available indoor, and outdoor (facing the river). The ambiance/atmosphere was nice, with good interior design, and not too noisy. Toilets for customers are available.

This is an interesting restaurant, the view was beautiful, the food was good, but the price is more on the expensive side that made everything else almost not really worth it. The restaurant was almost empty when we were there, and made us feel out of place, maybe it is a better idea to visit this restaurant on thr summer.
Arsyatria A — Google review
Hoppe’s Restaurant is a well-known spot in Hamburg, located at Övelgönne 6, right by the Elbe River and the picturesque Museumshafen harbor. Location & Atmosphere The restaurant’s greatest asset is undoubtedly its prime location, offering stunning views of the river and harbor. The outdoor terrace is especially popular on sunny days, providing a relaxed, maritime ambiance. The interior décor follows a nautical theme, creating a cozy and fitting atmosphere. Service The service is friendly and courteous, though not outstanding. Staff are attentive and polite, offering a pleasant experience without being particularly memorable. Menu & Prices Hoppe’s menu focuses on traditional Hanseatic cuisine, with a strong emphasis on fish dishes. Some of their highlights include: • “Pannfisch” with mustard sauce and fried potatoes – €26.90 • “Fischplatte” with zander, salmon, redfish, and prawns – €24.90 • Classic Fish & Chips with remoulade sauce – €15.90 • Argentine rump steak with sides – €23.90 While the food is good, it’s not exceptional. Prices are on the higher end, reflecting both the quality of ingredients and the premium location. Conclusion Hoppe’s is a solid choice for those who want to enjoy traditional Hamburg cuisine in a beautiful riverside setting. Although the food and service are decent rather than exceptional, the scenic view and atmosphere make it worth a visit. It’s best suited for special occasions or for those wanting to soak in the maritime charm of Hamburg—just be prepared for higher-than-average prices. One downside is that there is no service after 8 PM, which is quite unreasonable in spring when it’s still sunny outside.

Great place for the seafood and fish lovers! Price value worth taking Menu option as you get a lot of variety for the money (4 course menu for 79 Euro per person). Drinks are on a higher end but portions are generous. It was really great. The food was tasty, and it was fun talking to the kitchen crew. Gabi took care of us from behind the counter, and she, along with the rest of her colleagues, did a great job. We especially liked that they would take the time to answer any questions we had about the food. They were very nice and talented. Our favorite food items were the razor clam appetizer, the main, which was perfectly cooked char, and the dessert, a tarte tartin with french plums. Highly recommend. Great experience.

Bad atmosphere, hot, dark, messy. Make sure you sit outside with cigarettes smell, much better than inside, don’t risk. Pasta is nasty, smell like coming from 6 months+ dry package, no where close to fresh (per manager’s claim) and instead of accepting client’s comment nicely, the male manager intentionally ignored us afterwards, we got to ask 2 times to refill the wine, nothing happened. Once we stood up to take the bottle ourselves, the manager made fun and stupid faces, attitudes. If you’re looking for good mussels, fish… maybe, if you are looking for good pasta and services, think twice or more.

We took the 4 course chefs meal and this was definitely a highlight of a recent trip to Hamburg. The head chef explained how they made each course and the ambience was welcoming and friendly. Definitely a recommended experience!

Very weird neighborhood, very tight/small restaurant setup, extremely small table, very uncomfortable. Worst and most expensive pasta menu in the city, pasta smell old and very bland taste for 30+ euro. Overrated price and boring wine list. Trainee staff was serving us and had to go back to the unprofessional manager every time. The manager was rude and making the face back to us after we commented about pasta quality. At least the mussel was nice… otherwise this would be our worst night in Hamburg.

Bad experience. Overrated price. Poor the chef and the owner for having bad team of operations. Bad setup, very hot inside, small table, dont come here for group over 2 pax. Don’t order pasta, their pasta is old, and it’s ramen not pasta. Please re consider, there are many more better places. Bad wine despite us asking for the best option for german wine. Servers dont attend us enough, we had to ask 2 times for refilling wine and nothing happened, we had to pick our own bottle to refill, thats when manager made the face and attitudes to us. Horrible and expensive experience.

Bad experience, manager is not professional, treat customers unequally, pasta is not nice (old with bad smell i would say). The male manager (wearing personal attire) intentionally ignored us and making the "atitude", after we commented about pasta. Overated price to what you get really. Don't risk.

Austrian restaurant
Nestled amidst the vibrant chaos of Hamburg's Hamburger Dom funfair, Marend Tiroler Küche offers a serene escape into Tyrolean charm. The restaurant’s interior is a delightful blend of rustic elegance, featuring soft lighting and cozy pinewood furnishings adorned with delicate flowers reminiscent of Alpine meadows. While the menu may be concise, it boasts hearty offerings that transport diners straight to the mountains.
Went there without a reservation, said we won't stay long. They made it happen. Food takes a bit but it's all worth the wait. Beautifully arranged by the lady in the kitchen.

Absolutely lovely restaurant and atmosphere! I’d highly recommend a visit whilst you are in Hamburg. The food is exquisite and the fresh ingredients are evident.

Delicious! We stumbled upon this place while walking around and we are so glad we tried it. It was one of my favorite meals while in Hamburg. Such a unique meal and so fresh and tasty. I had one spinach and one lemon knödel and along with the salad, it was the perfect meal. I also tried a Hugo for the first time and I fell in love with the drink. Our server was delightful and very patient to explain the menu to us in English.

Went there on Monday and evening and it was really busy. Definitely needs reservation. The food was amazing and the host as well truly nice experience

Great food, great service & fair prices. We arrived all the tables at the same time and since it’s small it was a bit chaotic but once we were given our table everything ran smooth 🧚‍♀️

This place is truly wonderful. 1) the dishes are pretty authentic yet innovative. 2) the display is simply beautiful 3) the taste is heavenly 4) the price is reasonable if you go for the lunch menu. Of course quality always has its price. The interior is beautiful and it feels cozy. While it may take some time before you get your food (it's freshly prepared), you can watch the chef go about his/her business in the kitchen. It's very transparent and very nice to watch. Definitely worth a visit.

Really good experience. Delicious food, and cozy atmosphere. The dessert was also amazing. There's not a lot of seating so it's better to reserve in advance if possible. Also I'd recommend it for smaller groups only or couples.

I was excited initially to go to Marend and try their schnitzel but to my disappointment this location didn’t have it on the menu. Nonetheless the food was pretty good but not outstanding. Service could have been better. We had to constantly ask for someone to come to our table when we wanted something and at one point all of the staff was outside on a cigarette break at the same time with no one left to attend to customers. Maybe try their other location instead
