Tex-Mex restaurant
The Original Ninfa's on Navigation is a legendary Tex-Mex restaurant in Houston, offering a casual dining experience with covered outdoor seating. The menu features delicious fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas, along with classic Ninfaritas and margaritas with unique twists. You can also enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the East End Esplanade across the street during farmers markets.
Another fantástico meal at the Houston landmark was had. Kudos to Melisaa, our server. She ensured our party was happy while tending to other larger tables. The whole experience from entrance to exit was true hospitality. My discerning Chicago, Mexican friend (read hard to satisfy) enjoyed his meal and appetizers so much that he actually complemented it and all involved. The kids loved their meals. Only drawback is, it is loud, especially on weekends. Valet is easy, free and they work for tips. Definitely recommend for locals and visitors alike.

Delicious Mexican food, fresh and flavorful-- we had enchiladas (chicken mole and seafood), rice, and charro beans, all excellent. I wish the salsa was spicier, but that's a personal preference-- the flavor was very good. We were too full for dessert, so I guess we'll have to go back! The portions were generous, but the price point is a little on the high side for us. That's not a complaint, really, more of a heads up. Service was fabulous. All in all, a wonderful meal!
Jennifer W — Google review
Highly recommend restaurant and the staff Jennifer was a really warm and nice host that not only recommend us good food but also the historic story of the restaurant. We order the Del Mar Enchiladas and Fajitas of beef and chicken. Del Mar had a rich flavor of Shrimp, crab and the sauce was really great - though little pricy. Fajita was a classic one and recommend the fried roasted bean with cheese and the green rice - with a great texture! We only have two people and the amount are big for us😆 but the dinner experience was really great!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND! When we entered the front staffed just starred, did not even say hello. My Dr.Pepper was extremely flat it tasted like water. I had to ask the server to come over several times for things I needed. He only checked up on me 2 times. No physical kids menu, they just tell you and they don’t tell the price. The kids chicken tenders is 2 pieces of chicken and 3 potato wedges. My son did not like the flavor of the chicken and he is not a picky eater. My Texas combo was not good. The steak, rice and taco were lacking flavor. The taco was greasy. The enchilada was the only thing I enjoyed. For my family of 5 I ended up paying $106. I spend less at Olive Garden. The price is not worth the food. Do Not Go Here!

This place is a Houston institution known for the home of fajitas. I have been here a few times of the years. It seems to fall in quality each time. I had a solo mid week lunch. This place always has a good size crowd. It’s very lively and feels like a great TexMex spot. I was seated immediately and the waiter came quickly to take my drink order and provide chips and salsa. I ordered the skirt steak fajitas. It would be the last time I saw my waiter until I was as finished. The chips are solid. The salsas are ok. The green doesn’t have much flavor. Red was a little better but no heat. Fajitas came out with all the fixings plus beans and rices. The meat was slightly overcooked for my taste but still doable. The flavor was the real problem. It simply lacked seasoning. The tortillas were very good when they were warm. Once they cooled down they became very rigid and my last one broke apart while I was as finishing my fajitas. The kicker is the fajitas are average but they cost $45. That’s not going to cut it. Sadly, I won’t be making anymore stops at Ninfa’s. Luckily, Houston is full of great other options.

I booked a table at The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation while I was in Buenos Aires, as I was only staying in Houston for one night. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. However, I found the prices to be a bit high for the overall experience.
Charles Z — Google review
I loved the atmosphere, very calm great for a family outing or Saturday out with friends. I ordered the Fajita Mix for a group of 4 , it had Chicharrones, Fajita, Shrimp and Sausage, it came with 2 sides or Rice and 2 sides or Beans. Food 8/10 the ribs were a bit chewy and the Guac had no flavor otherwise everything else was good
Angie — Google review
Our service asked how we wanted the beef fajitas and I told him to make it however the chef recommends. And it was perfect! Beef fajitas had a lot of flavor and it was tender. The chicken fajitas were delicious as well. Chips and queso tasted good too. Frozen Margaritas and Margaritas on the rocks were good. Not sour tasting at all.

Hugo's is an upscale spot in Montrose known for its modern Mexican cuisine and tableside shaken margaritas. The restaurant offers a two-course lunch created by James Beard Award-winning chef Hugo Ortega for $24, where diners can choose from a variety of dishes. The menu features items like Tostadas de Atun Crudo and Taquitos Tronadores de Carnitas at Caracol, showcasing the chef's attention to detail.
Great autentic Mexican food!! My friend and I enjoyed it very much. We were there for lunch. We ordered vegetarian enchiladas, chapulines, guacamole & salsa. Their homemade tortillas and fresh corn chips were delicious too. For dessert we had queso flan and chocolate cake. 👌👌
Gloria H — Google review
I like so many things about this place, but the main thing is they take chances and add some interesting specials every day. Love anything seafood, tried the fish, so flavorful, and the guacamole was really good. Salsa was okay, chips were a little thick for my liking, ceviche was good. Fish tacos my friend ordered were inhaled. All and all a nice restaurant at any time of day. Would love to hit the happy hour.
Kat S — Google review
An amazing meal and an amazing experience. Party of 3 for the brunch buffet. Servers kept our beverages refreshed. Huge variety of delicious options on the buffet. I didn't even have room to try everything that I wanted. Live music was a nice addition.
Sean R — Google review
Hugo’s is the kind of spot that makes you want to linger, order one more round, and say yes to dessert (even if you swear you’re full). First things first: get a margarita. Salt rim, lots of ice, and suddenly your day’s already better. Let’s talk food, because wow: • Carnitas: This is why I keep coming back. Crispy, juicy, loaded with flavor, and you get to build your perfect taco with all the fresh toppings. Pure happiness. • Pulpo (Octopus): Charred just right, a little smoky, tender, and definitely not rubbery. (Zero regrets.) • Ceviche & Hamachi Crudo: Bright, fresh, and a little bit fancy. Love a starter that feels like summer on a plate. • Lobster Taco: Am I too extra? Maybe. But a blue corn tortilla, lobster, avocado—come on, that’s just joy. • Tortilla Soup: Mexican comfort in a bowl. Creamy, tomato-y, with crunchy strips and avocado. Basically a hug for your soul. • Grilled Cauliflower & Flor de Calabaza Quesadilla: You think you’re ordering veggies for balance, but then you realize these are actually delicious on their own. • Ribeye with mole: Smoky, tender steak with a mole so good I would eat it with a spoon. Seafood rice & fish: Both solid, but let’s be honest, I was busy making tacos and eating carnitas. Dessert: Flan was all mine. Creamy, smooth, not too sweet—total win. If you’re a chocolate person, the mousse is rich and dreamy. (Pro tip: don’t share.) The vibe: Lively, colorful, feels like you should be celebrating something—even if it’s just a Tuesday.

I came to Houston for a quick overnight visit and googled best restaurants near me and found Hugos. I was blown away. The food was incredible, the tequila high quality and diverse and the service smart and professional. I had the ceviche which was bright, fresh, and tasty. Nextvi had the Lechon, the suckling pig, which was tender, juicy and just a bit spicy. Next I had the duck, which quite literally melted in my mouth. The mole cornbread, greens and sweet potato puree were the perfect accompaniment to a crispy dilute with a ln amazing mole sauce. Add all this to the four great tequilas and I don't think I could have had a better meal. A+++ recommended.
Robert E — Google review
Delicious food and top notch service. Combinations of flavors on the food is amazing. The drinks are fantastic and we really enjoyed our time there.
Jose P — Google review
We had a large party so the customer service was tag teamed by a few people but we had everything we needed. The food was great. I enjoyed the salsa!
Sarah E — Google review
My wife and I visited on a Sunday for brunch. We arrived around 11 am. I would recommend setting a reservation if you aren't coming around opening hours. This place gets packed fast! The food was soo good! Open bar, buffet style, live entertainment, and the service was amazing! My water glass never got empty. As we ate and went back to the buffet line to replenish our plates we returned to find our napkins neatly folded and our table had been cleaned and cleared. Awesome service! 👏🏾 I noticed a lot of the visitors parked in the neighborhood next to the restaurant. Valet is available ; it is tip only valet. If you enjoy Mexican food you will love this place. From the homemade corn tortilla, tamales, enchilada, and salsa's! 🤌🏾 FLAVORFUL! This was my first time visiting but it will definitely not be the last!

Restaurant
Xochi is a chic downtown destination located in the Marriott Marquis, offering Oaxaca-inspired dishes, cocktails, and wine. The restaurant showcases complex flavors of Oaxacan cuisine with a menu curated by chef Hugo Ortega and restaurateur Tracy Vaught. Diners can savor an array of dishes such as Tamal de Pollo con Mole Negro, Camarones en Mole Verde, and Costillas De Puerco en Mole Chicatana.
Absolutely stunning food in a laid-back setting. Everything mole is worth getting, but the goat tacos and the seared scallops were pretty much perfect. Great cocktails too. Special shout out to Ulises, who made the evening a surprisingly space-themed joy.
Robin A — Google review
Xochi delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The barbacoa mole was rich and perfectly balanced, while the octopus was tender and beautifully charred—both dishes showcasing incredible depth of flavor. The bartenders were equally impressive, crafting cocktails with precision and genuine enthusiasm that elevated the entire evening. Between the vibrant atmosphere, thoughtful menu, and top-notch service, Xochi easily earns a spot among the city’s best spots for a memorable night out.
Frank P — Google review
Best molé sauce I've ever had. Our server was superb. She made great recommendations, especially in the wine and dessert choices. My tenderloin was mouth-watering. The octopus was made to perfection, not rubbery at all.
Erika Z — Google review
Had an amazing dinner here with my besties! The food was 10/10 and service even better!! Its Houston restaurant week so we chose the prefix menu and it we loved EVERYTHING. I highly recommend coming here.
T’Asia B — Google review
Amazing food. Think all that is good in Mexican/Spaniard foods and elevate it. Finest restaurant, indeed. Presentation: 10 Taste: 10 creativity: 10 Service: 10 location: 10 lots of new spices and old ones utilized in a different manner, enhancing them. Great wine and beer selection. Outside sitting, fenced and safe for families with little ones. Very pleasant ambient. The foods and spices taste as if they're coming from the farmers straight to your table. No middleman. Everyone should have this experience at least once.
Kathleen O — Google review
Wow! Xochi was our favorite meal during our trip to Houston. We ordered the pescado (daily catch) and tostadas de camarón (sautéed shrimp on crispy tortillas) which were extremely fresh and flavorful. The protein was cooked perfectly and the vegetables and herbs paired nicely with both dishes. For drinks, we ordered the Nervous Traveller (a fantastic skinny marg) and the world’s best margarita (similar to a Cadillac marg but with aged liquor). Both drinks were excellent, and if we visit Houston again I’m certain we will at least stop by to order these same cocktails. The outdoor seating was very clean and the staff were knowledgeable and timed our dishes perfectly. We don’t normally order dessert, but we splurged since the meal was going so well. We ordered the Helado de Elote (ice cream dish made with corn custard) and it was divine. The cob molds and marigolds made for an impressive presentation, but most importantly we cleaned the plate at a competitive pace 😂 Also, my wife is gluten free and it was very refreshing to have the full menu at her disposal.
Noah H — Google review
Made reservations for my mom’s birthday, our waiter was amazing she informed us about the dishes , food was tasty only wish queso de rancho had more protein of the bugs not just 2 of each & cocktail drinks weren’t the best to my taste & I bit too loud but overall a good experience.

We came here for restaurant week. Parking is difficult to find; however, luckily, we were able to find street parking nearby. Food waa great and our kids all enjoyed the dishes we ordered. Overall, great food and service!

Seafood restaurant
Caracol is a vibrant upscale restaurant that specializes in Mexican seafood and offers an oyster bar and a variety of alcoholic beverages. The eatery also caters to vegetarians with an extensive menu featuring diverse starters, hot plates, and sides. Dishes include options like mushroom and caramelized onion white queso, masa pancake with beans and mushrooms, as well as vegetable mole over wild mushrooms and roasted cauliflower.
Caracol is hands down one of the best dining experiences in Houston. The atmosphere is vibrant yet elegant, with beautiful décor that sets the stage for a special evening. The seafood is outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and prepared with unique coastal Mexican flair you don’t find anywhere else. The wood-grilled oysters and ceviches are absolute must-tries, and the mole dishes are incredible. We also liked the calamari and the sea bass. Service is attentive, friendly, and makes you feel well taken care of without being intrusive. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want a memorable meal, Caracol is a top choice in Houston. Highly recommend making a reservation, as it does get busy!

Amazing!! I came for brunch, the food was so amazingly delicious!! Every single thing I tasted was perfect. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the brunch buffet. We had mimosa pitchers and enjoyed the live music and service from the bartender Ashley who went above and beyond with her service. I highly recommend the brunch. I will be back!! And don’t listen to the hostess who may tell you brunch buffet is only for reservations. Had we listened, we would’ve left instead we sat at the bar and were still able to enjoy the buffet.

Our waitress Samantha was so kind and attentive. We showed up before they opened and they let us inside and were so kind. The manager was on top of everything and obviously cared about the guests. It was a wonderful experience and everyone who went has been raving about it.

Nacho and Alex C took care of us tonight at Caracol tonight. One of the most amazing dining experiences ever!!!! I should have taken more pictures of the drinks and dishes! Probably the best whiskey sour I've ever had on top of some magical cocktails that are just in the bartenders head. Never made it to the main courses, but highly recommend!!!
Danielle P — Google review
Amazing dining experience with unique choices for vegetarian! Highly recommend the desert el coco! The mocktail we ordered was delicious and plenty of delicious vegetarian options to choose from! Enchiladas were yummy 😋
Preyas S — Google review
Went for a birthday but bday boy didn’t receive anything special. Sunday brunch with unlimited oysters. The toppings should be on the side or have a naked option. Couple of oysters had shells and I’m glad I didn’t chip my tooth. Roasted oysters is not part of the aye so we ordered one for the table.
Jiayin L — Google review
Sunday Brunch was $45 for adults and $15 for kids. They had tamales, mini taquitos, meats and some potato/corn/paella for carbs. They also have bay scallops and oysters in a separate area. Dessert table had ample samplings. Overall, food was just average. Nothing that really made me think of wanting to go back. I prefer Hugo's by a smidge. The only thing that stood out for me was their margarita. Pass on the Sangria. The interior was lovely, though. There was a live band right by the entrance/buffet area, which was nice. One can still hold conversation without screaming over another. Validated parking in the garage next door

Tex-Mex restaurant
El Tiempo Cantina is a lively family-run cantina chain that offers hearty Tex-Mex dishes and famous margaritas. The restaurant is known for its superb, velvety cheese dip served with flour chips, reminiscent of Taco Bell chalupa shells. It's a spinoff of the beloved Houston Tex-Mex institution Ninfas, carrying on Mama Ninfa's legacy of introducing fajitas to the United States in 1973.
I think this is about as Tex Mex as it gets! Being from California, it was a little weird being in a taqueria with country music playing, but it was great! Service was quick, and there was plenty of seating. Food was plentiful and delicious. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to try some Tex Mex in the Houston area!
Michael B — Google review
Consistently great Tex Mex. Family owned local chain. Great for large groups and family gatherings. Large open venue can be loud, but great for large parties. Service is fast and friendly. On the spot for drink and chip refills. All the food is flavorful and executed consistently well. The dishes are large and priced in line with mid tier TexMex for decent value. Decent sized parking lot that gets full at peak and there's some street parking for overflow.
Gregston C — Google review
Great margaritas and good food overall, though a bit overpriced for what you get. I tried the $5 bacon-wrapped shrimp and was really disappointed , it was tiny, way too salty, and honestly not worth being on the menu at all. The rest of the meal was enjoyable, but I’d definitely skip the shrimp.
Jr. S — Google review
My favorite Tex Mex on the planet! My friends always know that we have to visit El Tiempo every time I come to Houston. The queso was delicious, the margaritas are killer, and you have to get the mixed fajitas! Always hot and fresh food. The tortillas are made in the house and are delicious. You can’t go wrong here.
Brett B — Google review
The food service was fast, waiter was exceptional and so was the food. I had the Acapulco shrimp and a strawberry margarita with sugar on the rim, and I'd get it again. The only issue, if I should even call it that, was it was too cold in the space. I'd rather be cold than hot so, that wasn't a real issue. Bring a cardigan and you'll be fine....This was my first time at this location and I'd definitely go again!
Ashley T — Google review
I live in Kentucky but I haven't been to Houston in many years. Came back to Houston with my fiance. She loved, loved and loved Houston. My cousin picked us up and took us to El Tiempo. Food was amazing. Fajitas were tender. Tortillas were on point. Salsa was the shit and the staff, the best. We recommend El Tiempo if you want good service and good food. Hey, dont take my word for it. Go try it out for yourself.
Antonio T — Google review
The pictures doesn’t do this plate justice it was delicious. Bit pricy 30$ for the plate but it’s near downtown, so I get it . The service stood out for sure. Good Tex mex food!! Definitely come back. There was a bit to much yellow lighting
Jesus G — Google review
My new go to for Sunday breakfast after church. Menudo was on point and the tortillas definitely worth the trip. Love the service and the fresh sweet breads. I've been here on a Friday night Margarita date night. So we had to come back. It's that good. Love the decor~gives festive vibe.

This place is massive. Has phenomenal number of seats and equal amount of parking as well. The decor is tastefully done and the staff is courteous. The food has the potential to be better. Their quantity is large but lacks flavours that stand out.

Have heard great things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Such a beautiful dinning room and bar. Its hard to believe this place has been here for decades. Homemade Tortillas were GREAT! I had a burrito covered in Mexican gravy chili. Perfect seasoning and the same to the salsa that came with the chile relleno.

A very disappointing visit to Lopez. Met my sister there with my wife for drinks and dinner. We ordered flavored margaritas and I had a house margarita. Long story, but my sister couldn't even finish hers. It tasted like soap. It takes a lot for me to not eat or drink something I've purchased. My sister would never say anything so I brought it to the attention of the bartender. Instead of making it right for her which every good restaurant does he proceeded to tell me it was the combination of tequila, strawberries and Grand Marnier that caused the bad taste. He wouldn't budge on his opinion. Are you kidding me??? So I ordered her another house margarita which was ok. Then our food arrived. The taco salad and taco had no flavor. My enchiladas were good. Regardless, the bartenders attitude was a total turn-off. I've never experienced that. I did still tip because others served us and they were pleasant. We just all agreed that we won't go back, not for that kind of service. Too many other options around Sugar Land for good Mexican food and great service!

I’ve been coming to Lopez Mexican Restaurant at 11606 Wilcrest Dr, Houston, TX 77099 for 43 years, and it has never disappointed me. The food has always been absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors that keep me coming back time and time again. The service is consistently amazing—friendly, attentive, and welcoming—and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a great meal with family or friends. As a remote worker, Lopez has become one of my favorite places to eat and relax. The only thing I wish they offered is Wi-Fi, which would make it even more convenient for those of us who love working while enjoying their wonderful food. Lopez has been a staple in my life for decades, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Located on Airline Drive, Teo Mexican Cafe is an old-school Tex-Mex restaurant with vibrant decor. The menu features a wide variety of classic Tex-Mex dishes from breakfast through dinner.
This place was so delicious!! Great vibes, friendly service, and amazing food. I got the chilaquiles rojos and it was so good. A crazy amount of food and all of it hit. Nice beans, great potatoes, tender pork, runny eggs, and the best part of course the crunchy + saucy chilaquiles. Tamale was also very nice. Everyone was so nice and the horchata was also nice and refreshing. I can’t wait to come back!!

Customer service was great, food was plentiful and delicious. We ordered the fajitas with short ribs, steak, chicken, and shrimp. I think the tortillas were homemade and delicious. Chips and salsa didn't disappoint. The order was enough for 3 people to share, but the food could use a little more seasoning. I definitely recommend trying this place you are guaranteed to find something on the menu to your liking. The frozen margaritas were delicious also!
Khalilah C — Google review
It's a relatively affordable, authentic Tex-Mex experience in the heart of Houston Heights. I would say the pros are their fresh handmade tortillas are very good, their menu is on the cheaper end compared to most other sit-down Tex Mex places, and the menu is huge with lots of variety. The con I would say is the quality can sometimes be hit or miss but probably comes with the cheaper price tag. Still would come back! Their fajita meat was a bit thinner and not as juicy as I would've liked but still had good flavor Waitresses are friendly and ambience is great and authentic

Excellent meal was had for a reasonable price. The menu is extensive. Carnitas were awesome and a generous portion. They offer homemade corn and flour tortillas. My companion loved the enchiladas so much that we had to wait until he ate every last one. No desserts this time. Definitely recommend.
Carlos R — Google review
I visited this place after reading positive reviews, but my experience was just okay. The staff was friendly and helpful, which made the overall experience better. However, the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t particularly good either. It was just decent. I wouldn’t be disappointed if I ate there again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. The prices are a bit high, but considering the area, rent is probably not cheap. You could find comparable food elsewhere for less. One major disappointment was the fresh waters. They were not fresh at all. You could tell they were made using a powder or some kind of syrup. The flavor was almost non-existent, and the flavors that did exist tasted artificial. I asked for a tamarindo water, and it was awful. I asked for it to be switched to a lemonade, and it was just as bad. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend traveling to this place to eat. I would only recommend it if you’re nearby and want some decent but not great Tex-Mex. I don’t drink, so I can’t comment on the alcoholic beverages. Also, this place is very loud. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you want to have a quiet conversation.
Cristian V — Google review
Overall, the food was good and arrived in a timely manner. The chicken was moist and well-prepared. However, my salad was served on a hot plate, which made it warm—not ideal. Fortunately, the waitress replaced it promptly and without any issues. I did have some difficulty communicating the problem to the server, as her English was limited.
Sasha S — Google review
I came in on a rainy day and it was pretty busy. There’s tons of seating but it is a little crowded. I came in with a large party and the service was good and accommodating to us. The woman was very kind and helpful. I got a chicken quesadilla and it was light, flavorful, and delicious. The nachos were also very good. I had an horchata and it wasn’t super flavorful but it was refreshing for sure. My family got a quail dish, not the biggest fan but it was a new thing for us to try at a Mexican restaurant. Overall, not bad.

Teotihuacan Mexican Cafe is hands-down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. From the moment you walk in, the inviting aroma of fresh tortillas and spices sets the tone for an amazing meal. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive — you feel like family from the start. I ordered the beef fajitas, and they were perfectly seasoned, tender, and served sizzling hot with all the fixings. Their house-made salsa and chips are addictive (seriously, you’ll need a second basket), and the margaritas? Absolutely top-tier. Strong, flavorful, and generously sized. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming. Whether you're stopping in for a casual lunch or a celebratory dinner, Teotihuacan delivers every time. Highly recommend — this place is a Houston gem!

Lupe Tortilla is a Tex-Mex chain that's popular for its homemade tortillas and wide range of margaritas. Visitors have raved about the delicious food, with one person describing it as the best Mexican meal they've had in a long time. The restaurant has a cozy and homey atmosphere, although seating can be tight inside. Despite this, the staff are friendly and accommodating.
Lupe Tortilla delivers a consistently satisfying dining experience that highlights classic Mexican flavors with precision and care. The guacamole stands out with its fresh, vibrant taste, perfectly balanced and made to order. Their beans complement the meal beautifully, rich and flavorful without being overpowering. The mixed fajitas are a true highlight—cooked to perfection with tender, well-seasoned meats and a delightful medley of peppers and onions. Additionally, the queso is excellent, creamy and flavorful, making it a perfect starter or accompaniment. Overall, Lupe Tortilla offers a well-rounded menu that showcases authentic Tex-Mex cuisine at its best.

Stopped for lunch on a Saturday and had a good experience overall. The fajita tacos were a highlight—juicy, flavorful, and definitely worth trying. I also ordered the Lupe Chicken, which had a nice flavor, though the chicken breast was a bit tough. The salsa added a nice kick, and the corn tortillas were fantastic. The flour tortillas are cooked with lard, so keep that in mind if you avoid pork. Service was fine on the patio. Overall, it was a good meal, but nothing particularly memorable.

This is one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants, I've never had a bad experience at this location for food. It can get noisy at times when you are in the smaller rooms, but never loud enough to where you cant talk to each other. We've had a couple of visits where the server took a while to get to us but it has happened only twice in the many visits we've had.

I love the place. I have been there for 10 years. The best fajitas i have ever had. Amazing food and great atmosphere. Years ago the manager got angry at me for walking in the building, that wasn’t so nice.

This Lupe Tortilla location was the original. It was a fabulous restaurant when it first opened years ago and continues to be fabulous. The food here knocks the socks off the Echo lane location. Well worth the 10 minute drive West on I10 to get the best.

This is my favorite lupe! The food is always delicious. Staff is helpful and patient. They have an area for kids to play. It is sandy and outside in the sun, so come with sunscreen. Wish the whole thing had shade cause my kids were burning but didn't want to stop playing. The atmosphere is fun and casual. It's an old house converted to restaurant. Love going every time. They also have Popsicles for cash only. Kids loved it. It's hard going out with kids that are restless and don't eat but they were kept busy enough for us to eat.

Took a date on a Saturday night and it was a very enjoyable experience. It was busy, we waited about 20 minutes but we were able to get a spot at the bar and get a drink and there was plenty of outside area so we just enjoyed the evening outside until the table was ready. Got a nice little spot along the wall, had nice lighting and a nice ambience for a date. The star of the show in the food department was the salsa and beans they served. The salsa was chunky and flavorable and the beans were outstanding. Had chicken fajitas and margaritas and everything was great. Service was a little slow, but it was busy, and our server was attentive and everything was on point. Would definitely recommend Lupe Tortillas and I will be back.

Brian took amazing care of us, I got the full rack of ribs and they were phenomenal. Very well seasoned, crispy on the outside, and perfectly tender on the inside. The plate is huge by the way, great portion! On Wednesdays they have 40% off a lb of fajita, it comes out to 30-ish for the chicken and 60-ish for the beef, comes with queso, rice, guac, tortillas. Super good and great prices. Had a great experience cause of Brian, he was so accommodating and conversational.

This restaurant has a great outdoor/patio area, the food was pretty similar to regular Pappasito’s, nothing to rave about. I’ve received much better service and wait time at the pappasitos on Katy freeway and would recommend that location over this one any day. Our waitress either forgot about us or just didn’t want to service us because she was on top of the larger party next to us but kept skipping over us. My husband literally had to ask 3 times just for his drink to be refilled and we were basically already finished with our meal. We never got checked on and we didn’t get offered any dessert, she just brought the check and I infact did want a dessert. I expected the service to be outstanding considering the location but definitely not my experience.

All 5 stars go to Audrey!!!! The sweetest waitress and most attentive!!! Hand down the best experience we’ve had with the staff and we come a lot! Fajitas and dessert were amazing. I’ve always passed this place but never stopped in… today I visited for lunch and everything was great. We were in town for two nights and decided to try this place that a couple Uber drivers recommended. Hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants we've been to. The food was so fresh and flavourful. We ate way too much but we didn't care cause it was so worth it. The patio was big and covered so when it stormed it didn't matter. Irma's Southwest is a casual restaurant in Houston that offers a variety of familiar Southwestern dishes such as fajitas, shrimp tacos, and combo platters. The menu features Southwest seafood, authentic Mexican food, and upscale Tex-Mex delicacies. A unique twist at Irma's is the Tex-Mex flavored pancakes which are highly recommended. The restaurant also serves different flavors for patrons to explore.
Hands down the BEST Mexican food we’ve ever had!! In town for Astros game and walked in shortly after opening. Quickly greeted by hostess and the owner, Louis, who is the son of the original Irma’s. After Louis found out we’re huge fans of Mexican food, he asks to cook for us today and proceeds to present an array of tasty dishes. From the house lemonade to lentil soup and main courses not on the menu, based on each of mine and my husband’s favorite dishes. We were so stuffed, we unfortunately did not have room for dessert. It was all amazing. Louis is the best host and has a wonderful restaurant. Will return every time we’re in Houston!!

The food here was really good. I had some queso, some guac, and their salsa to start. I decided to get the burger since I was interested in the Nilgai and I’m glad I tried it! It was quite good. You could tell it wasn’t cow beef but they made a great burger out of it. High price for a fairly normal portion; that’s downtown for ya! I personally don’t really like the downtown scene. Parking sucks. Ambiance wasn’t great. Very loud. Other than that, I’m happy with the service and food.

Not only did he personally greet us, but he also cooked for us! His hospitality, warmth, and passion for what he does truly set the tone for the entire visit. Great service! The food is good but I have tried better Mexican food. The atmosphere is great, there was 2 singers playing Spanish and English songs. I do think that this restaurant is some how overpriced, $24 for a Pambazo 🤯 $18 for Pozole 🧐 Automatic gratuitity for tables of 6 ppl (20%) Inside it was freezing cold. This are my opinions but go ahead and judge yourself 😉

I found out about this restaurant from Reddit. A lot of people were speaking highly about it on there so we decided to look it up. We were happy to see that high ratings on Google. We decided to go. The food was definitely as good as we expected based on the description on Google and Reddit. But we also were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance, the service and really everything about the entire experience. The posole was really good. Same with the guacamole, tacos campechanos, and the margarita de jamaica. We would definitely go back for the service and the food. The added bonus was the live music. There were two guitarists walking around to each table for song requests. Let me tell you, their guitar skills and singing was quite exceptional! We stayed at the restaurant longer that anticipated because we wanted to keep listening to the really good music. All in all, 10 out of 10. We are most definitely going back to try some more food and listen to some good music. If you are tired of the same ole tex-mex and looking for some really good mexican food, definitely come here! highly recommend Cuchara and can’t say enough great things about this fine establishment!

What a beautiful restaurant! Not only is located in the Bayou, at Allen Parkway, but it’s like a little hidden and magical place right in the heart of Houston! Let me start with the fact that they have valet but you can also find parking on your own and do a little walk and enjoy the Bayou view. The restaurant is know for having gorgeous chandeliers, literally everywhere, it’s elegant yet cozy and perfect for a date or brunch. They have a brunch menu and also a special sips menu and all her drinks are beautifully decorated and taste delicious. The food is Mexican inspired, but with an upscale touch, we tried Huevos divorciados and Chilaquiles, you will love them! The octopus tostada appetizer , chef kiss! If I could choose one restaurant to go to every day, it would be Flora. It’s my go-to for all occasions: birthdays, anniversary dinners, showing off Houston to guests. The moment you walk in, the place feels magical. The chandeliers sparkle above you, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows let in soft light and views of the greenery outside. The décor blends elegance and warmth in the most beautiful way. The service is always so welcoming and attentive. Every time I visit, I hope to get Jireth as my server. She’s kind, observant, and always makes sure our drinks stay full and our table stays taken care of. She truly makes me feel seen. Food-wise, the carnitas are perfection. The beans are some of the best I’ve had, and the homemade tortillas are excellent. And Flora’s margarita The Grant? Pure magic! A spicy hint from jalapeño, balanced with perfect reposado and mezcal. Flora honors authentic Mexican food while adding creative touches. My taste buds are always surprised and delighted. Every time I leave, I already can’t wait to come back. The aesthetics are absolutely stunning. The service was good and the food was overall okay. Highlights include the oysters and the overall vibe of the restaurant. The drinks were okay and given the price point I do expect a stronger drink. My group and I ordered a huge variety of options including the special, tacos, enchiladas, several appetizers and various cocktails. One negative, I do not believe any Mexican restaurant should be charging $2.00 per salsa. As someone who’s been to countless areas of Mexico for decades, please set your expectations appropriately. I personally had to season the guacamole with salt and pepper because it was a bit bland. Overall, I’m glad we checked out this restaurant but I don’t necessarily have to come back because of the food. Parking is a hit or miss, small area to park since it’s also parking for the cyclist and walkers/runners. 1 star each for the aesthetics, oysters and server.

My boyfriend chose this restaurant for our monthly date night and it did not disappoint. From the ambiance, to the service, it gave top tier. There is someone always there to assist and serve you and our server, Desiree (Desi) was top notch. She knew the menu as if she cooked every dish herself. She knew what sauces paired well with each dish and even told us what we should try next on our next visit. She was pleasant, hospitable and gave recommendations based on my vegetarian diet. The decor was absolutely beautiful and was a perfect end to a perfect night. We will be back and we will tell our friends!

Flora is an authentic Mexican restaurant that manages to excel for its food and setting. In a city with excellent “real” Mexican restaurants, Flora distinguishes itself by featuring some delicious dishes on its menu. The tuna tostada is a standout, as are the barbacoa and carnitas. During brunch they offer a delicious and unique desert. You can taste the Pan de Elote, which is a sweet corn bread served with honey marscapone. Be advised that it sells out. Finally their bar serves delicious concoctions with flair. All of this in one of Houston’s most beautiful settings. The main dining room is lovely, but can be cool and a little loud. Their outdoor patio is a little less formal, but puts you closer to nature. If the weather is nice, sit outside. If you prefer a “buzzier” atmosphere, inside is the place for you.

I understand why this place has such high ratings and views. I got the charred octopus as my main and it is incredible. I’ve had octopus before but not like this. Exquisite. Husband had the Mole Enchiladas and he was blown away. Margaritas are fantastic and beautifully crafted.

Tex-Mex restaurant
Candente is a vibrant Tex-Mex restaurant located in Montrose, offering a colorful and lively atmosphere. The industrial-style eatery serves up generous portions of sizzling fajita platters and flavorful composed nachos. A must-try dish is the trio of tacos birria de res, featuring smoked and braised short rib and shank with a luscious bone marrow glaze, accompanied by soul-warming consome.
I only really review places I love, and I LOVED this place. If you’re an avid fan of Tex Mex this is a must-try. If you’re not, still try it, it’s that good. They’ve blended TexMex with BBQ (same ownership as Pitroom BBQ down the road, which is also must-try) and the brisket and ribs are all slow smoked. You can smell the difference as soon as you walk in and for meat lovers, it’s intoxicating. I highly recommend the Birria Tacos, both for taste and presentation (watch out for the orange sauce and try it first, because it’s HOT- comes on the side). Beef fajitas (regular skirt steak is what we had) were also delicious. Our server also recommended the Brisket Enchiladas but we had just had BBQ the day before so we decided it was for “next time”. The menu feels chef inspired which is normally lacking from most Tex Mex places. I really enjoyed that! We sat on the patio which stays cool even on a 90+ degree day. Easy parking in a garage on site (and some on street) but not sure if it’s so easy on a busy evening as we came around Sunday at 12:30. Garage clearance 6’ 6” so good for oversized vehicles as long as they’re not lifted.

This place is definitely over priced... but the food is really good! We ordered nachos, ceviche, and the fajita parilla. The fajita was very tender and flavorful. My family would come back. Service was ok, our waiter misinformed us about drinks, didn't seem to know the menu well, but she was nice overall. Atmosphere was awesome!!

Came here around 1pm on a Monday and we were seated right away. Our waiter was fast with bringing our chips and salsas out (delicious by the way!!), and we placed an order for brisket nachos - we had no idea they were half off on Mondays, so they came out to about $12.50. The dish was HUGE and it is definitely one of my fave appetizers now!!! The brisket had a great smoky flavor that paired really well with the cream, bbq sauce, and onions it came with. I got a burrito for my entree with chicken fajita, which came out to about $20. The burrito already had beans and rice inside of it, but the dish still came with a side of each. I chose the burrito to be topped with queso (included) and I wished I ordered it on the side because it was a little overpowering and drenched the burrito. Still, it was VERY tasty and I would definitely order it again. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a great food experience!

We had a wonderful evening at Candente Mexican Restaurant while hosting my cousin visiting from Monterrey. The food was everything we hoped for — flavorful, generous, and beautifully plated. From the enchiladas smothered in rich chili gravy to the crispy flautas with fresh guacamole, every dish had that comforting Tex-Mex touch with authentic flair. The ceviche with avocado was light and refreshing, while the sizzling molcajete brought bold, smoky flavors to the table. Chips and queso were the perfect starter, and the rice and beans rounded everything out just right. The drinks made the evening even more special — the Mangonada, michelada Beer was a fun and refreshing twist, the Jalapeño Margarita had just the right amount of spice, and the Premium Mezcal was smooth and full of character. Service was warm and attentive, and the lively atmosphere made it the perfect setting to share stories, laugh, and enjoy a family evening together.

Delicious food and great service. Atmosphere was also nice but we had to sit outside in uncovered area which was not as nice as covered outdoor space. We enjoyed the fajitas- chicken and pork. Sides were also delicious.

Fajita perfection! I’m not a fan of steak and I ate more steak than chicken. The chicken was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. I’m not sure a better fajita exists! The grilled onions may have changed my life. Perfect blend of flavors and textures. I highly recommend this restaurant.

First timers to Candente, place seems to be a popular choice when going out. It was a full house on our visit. The outside seating patio was beautiful as well. Overall, we enjoyed it. Service was good, we didn't have anything major occur. The food was hit or miss depending on what you order. From the start, the salsa is delicious! Both had wonderful flavors and would want to know the recipe to make it at home. It's really good. The sad part is the hard chips that come with it. Know this is a staple at some establishments. However, a customer should have to feel like the chip could break a tooth or slice a gum. The 7 layer dip , with no layers was a miss for us. The fajita nachos, another miss. The chips don't help these dishes in any way again. The Ribs - get them and thank me later. By far some of the best ribs I've had ever. But would also never expected it to be from a Tex Mex spot in town. The 3 ceviche - tostadas were a favorite of our group. The rib eye fajitas, to me was just a cut up steak sliced to presentation. It had nothing more than a steak flavor. No Marinade - No Seasoning. While I get Tex Mex it does occur, typically there something other than steakhouse presentation. Go with the Skirt steak, it's much softer of a cut. The rest holds true between the skirt & ribeye. Pro Tip- The parking here is terrible! If you don't want your vehicle scratched, hit, or worse. Don't park in the parking garage. Trucks, SUVs, etc shouldn't be allowed. People were taking up two spots because they weren't able to fit in the Compact parking. Just park in the street and walk back down. Think some of the dishes could use some refinement and could be a hit or miss for some. Over all it's good, just not great. What were your favorites? How was your visit? Until next time!

Flavor was great. Meat is fantastic, but small portions. Service was just good, nothing special. Wait was 30 minutes, but hostess was not texting customers when their table was ready. Two sets of customers were passed over in addition to us. Hostess staff did not do a good job.

El Hidalguense is a lively and basic spot that offers a variety of Mexican favorites, including cabrito and barbecue beef tacos. The restaurant is known for its excellent and inexpensive lamb barbacoa, served from a giant pot visible as soon as you walk in. The portions are generous, and the service is great. While the current location may look outdated, the food more than makes up for it.
El Hidalguense is a solid spot if you’re looking for authentic Mexican flavors, especially their Birria, which is absolutely delicious. The seasoning and tenderness of the meat are spot on, making it the highlight of the menu. The karaoke setup adds a fun and lively vibe, but the volume can get a bit overwhelming while you’re eating. It would be great if they could lower it slightly during meals so guests can enjoy their food and still have conversations. The atmosphere could use some upgrades to match the quality of the food. While it’s clean and welcoming, a few modern touches would go a long way in enhancing the dining experience. Also, the restrooms need attention—they could definitely use some improvements to ensure they meet the same standard as the rest of the establishment. Overall, El Hidalguense delivers fantastic food and a fun vibe. With a few tweaks, it could become an even better destination for both locals and visitors.

A no frills establishment with Absolutely the best experience for barbacoa and excellent authentic Mexican food. I dined for lunch on a Saturday and they had a band entertaining the guests with live Mexican music and songs. I thoroughly enjoyed the bacbacoa and the freshly made corn tortillas. I have to say the service I received was exceptional. I was welcomed immediately as I walked in and chose my own table. My server was attentive and checked on me just at the right times.

This review will probably make no justice to El Hidalguense. If you like barbacoa/chivito this is the place. Authentic Hidalgo Mexico style barbacoa in Houston. The barbacoa/chivito was amazing so was the consome (broth). Let’s not forget handmade tortillas. The fajitas were amazing.

Tacos Tierra Caliente is a popular food truck located in Los Angeles, California. The truck offers a variety of authentic Mexican tacos with flavorful and tender fillings. Customers rave about the delicious and affordable tacos, highlighting the freshness of the ingredients and the skillful preparation. The friendly staff and quick service add to the overall positive experience of dining at Tacos Tierra Caliente. If you're in LA and craving some mouthwatering tacos, this food truck is definitely worth a visit!
This isn’t your average gas station tacos. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. I recommend trying your order as a quesadilla, which is about the same amount of food as 2 tacos. Be careful with their red salsa, it definitely packs a punch of spicy.
Tim G — Google review
Service is terrible, I called ahead and placed an order and when we got there the lady said that they had just sold all of the chorizo. She never made the food for us so they sold out. She said the person had just come and ordered 8 tacos. Additionally , she started make the rest of my order and I asked for no beans and she proceeded to make the tacos with beans. Instead of starting over she just scraped the beans off and kept making the taco. Do not recommend solely based of service.

Don't bother. Service is awful. I made an order online, and when I got there they had sold part of my order to another customer. They didn't have the rest of my order made because they ran out of food. This is poor customer service. I won't be back. Save yourself the expense and go somewhere they honor you as a customer.

The guy on the phone wouldn't let me place a to go order saying it would take 2 minutes (not the case) but never mentioned that what I wanted to order wasn't available. My husband is about to pay and the guy tells him NO CHEESE. Not that they didn't run out, he says no one wanted it so they stopped using cheese. What?! The tacos were pretty bad so not sure the cheese would have made them much better but come on. You can't have it on the menu everywhere or a decent breakfast taco without it!
Sandhya M — Google review
It's alright. Green sauce was hot and yummy if you like burning. My daughter said "how is this a quesadilla?" And the tortillas are not homemade. I'm going to stick to chilosos. Parking blows too as it's in the gas station.

So glad I got to finally try this place. I used to frequent the taco truck over at Alabama Ice House. This newer location is close to my office. The beef fajita Mexicana and picosa were the bomb! The pastor was solid. This place is legit! Will definitely be back often. Great tacos and friendly service at a great price.
Farhan C — Google review
The staff was very nice, and the food was delicious and well priced. I ordered at the bar, but paid at the gas station register, so they take credit cards unlike the famous truck. I had a pastor taco, a lengua taco, a barbacoa taco, and a fajita quesadilla. The lengua and barbacoa were flavorful and tender. The pastor was well seasoned and a little crispy. The fajita had some sauteed onions and peppers. They offered onions and cilantro at no extra charge, and their green salsa was wonderful. I will definitely be back to try their other options like chicharron, pollo poblano, and camarones.

First time at this Chuy's and it was really nice. I don't know if it was time of day or what, but there was no wait time at all to get seated. The waiter kept bringing us chips and the yummy ranch dip (seriously refilling when we were only half way through it). Drinks were refilled fast as well and all of our food came out great!

One of the best places for Mexican food. I loved it. Service is really nice. The ambiance is good. We had something show in pictures I don't remember. We were really full by that dish. Chips were unlimited. Their salsa was too good. If I ever went to that place again that for that salsa only. That was really good. Overall experience is good.

Big plates of edible food. Some items are hit and miss as with most "Tex Mex" chains. Queso is a big fat no. Salsa and white chip dip are good. Taquito/Flautas are better than what you find in the frozen food section of the grocery store. Otherwise passable for quick dining. I would not go out of my way for this restaurant again, but in a pinch it is okay. Pricing is average for the quality. Definitely better places in the area.

Really fresh delicious meal. I highly suggest the chicken tortilla soup. It is cream based, not broth, and with the Avocado, makes this a chunky fulfilling soup in 2 sizes. Beef and chicken fajitas do not disappoint, I love the flour tortilla texture. Good dining, great service.

We wanted to eat at a good Mexican restaurant downtown, and we found Guadalajara Del Centro, and we're glad we did. We had a nice time that evening, and we ordered the common Mexican dishes. This is located at a very nice spot in downtown Houston and we enjoyed to walk around after the dinner. Would visit again.

It was overall really tasty and highly recommended. We were there during happy hour too so I got a $6 house on the rocks marg- it was pretty good for $6 !

My family and I came on a Monday night, don’t worry there’s public parking all around. The atmosphere was nice very colorful Tex-Mex type of Vibe. The staff are very friendly, the time we arrived got seated right away and our Host Mark Anthony was super amazing . I myself ordered the shrimp tacos very delicious especially the green sauce that comes with it, ships and salsa can never go wrong, and the beans very tasty. It’s also Gluten-free friendly. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was the lateness of receiving our drinks/plates. Maybe they were short on staff but it did take awhile/slow. Overall very enjoyable.

First time in Guadalajara. Good location, good atmosphere and everything very clean. Parking is a bit complicated but it's downtown, most places are like that. Carlos L, our friendly server, but the service was too slow, our table had 8 people and on many occasions he was absent. Skinny Margaritas super good, very refreshing. I ordered a combo plate that had several things and I loved it, my favorites were the empanadas, I think if I go again I would only order them. We also ordered the chicken nachos, good flavor. In general, a good place, for any occasion. Happy Hour available.

this must be my 10th time here. Always great. Although I wish they had more veggie offerings than the regular 3-4 items. Met with my college buddy and his family for a small reunion. However, I must say. It is ridiculous to have to pay $2 for a hot sauce and $2(I believe) for making our Enchiladas extra spicy. I will not go there again.

This was our first time in Houston and we were so excited thinking we were going to get authentic Mexican food. This place had zero flavor. Their guacamole was simply avocado mushed up. First time going and wish I could go back again. The food was excellent of the 4 of us that went no one had anything bad to say about the food. It came out in a timely fashion the flavors were bold and savory. I'm extremely sad to here they are closing in a few months after 44 years of service to the community. The vibes were amazing they had some music going a "band" with harp and guitar that came around to the tables, they did some happy birthday songs and a few others. The drinks were strong and well worth the price. I don't think I have enough words to say how good this restaurant really was. If you are thinking of going, go immediately you won't be upset. The waiters were friendly and service was A++. I would highly recommend and return.

There seems to be more people and customers showing up because they extended the closing until Jan. 2026. I was happy to hear this. The fajitas were great. I selected the beef and chicken combo. I liked the decor inside. The staff was friendly and helpful. More people should show up here. Great place for lunch, happy hour or dinner.

I've been going to Pico's since the 80s when they were at their other location on Bellaire Blvd. It's always been excellent. They use great ingredients, and the vibe is always festive and friendly. Their queso flameado, salsas, enchiladas, Chile relleno, and tacos are all very good. They would easily be the best Mexican food in most cities in the US. But Houston has a lot of serious competition. The soft shell crab is world class, best I've ever had.

When I saw the menu prices, I expected a service or the food would be pretty decent. First, the waiter wouldn't bring the little plates foe the chips until after we had ordered. I ask for it multiple times and he just said I'll bring them.I'll bring them. My spinach salad was horrible. Drenched in so much balsamic vinaigrette it was hard to eat. The steak fajitas that I paid extra nine dollars for, were tough/chewy. My friend asked for charro beans and they brought her the wrong kind. They charged over seven dollars for a glass of bottled lemonade. We had to ask multiple times for to-go containers And and then for a to go drink container. I asked for 3 soups to go. ( I ordered them at the beginning.Otherwise, I wouldn't have ordered anything else from this place) Even that they got wrong! I ordered one chicken soup, one green pozole and one red pozole. I got the chicken, which wasn't even closed well and it's spilled in my truck , and two red pozoles. No Green. When it was time to check out the waiter was right there next to me holding the credit card machine while I finished the transaction. I went to the bathroom and the stalls smelled like urine. I am never coming back and i'm not recommending this place to anybody. The chips were good.

Wow! Hadn’t been here in forever but went in for lunch. I sat at the bar and was one of two people, this was at 1:30 pm on a Thursday. I had a glass of wine and a humongous salad that was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. My 9 oz glass of Italian Pinot Grigio added to the expense but the salad was only $13! I could not finish it all! Beautiful presentation of salad from Churrascos! Lentils, couscous, lettuce, avocado, tomato, bacon & queso fresco. No dressing, even though it came with, I declined. The plantain chips were hot but a little too salty for my taste. The chimichurri sauce was excellent though. Elliott M was a great server with fantastic but non-invasive service. Highly recommend this salad on a hot day! Atmosphere is casual classy and it was cool and quiet inside.

This was my first visit to Churrascos and although it’s pretty pricey, I think I’ll be back once more to try something else on the menu. Food: I ordered the crab cakes for lunch but after the first bite, it failed to wow me. I then ordered the fried shrimps (6 on a stick) and they were so good! I paired them with the fried plantains and voila, chef’s kiss!!! Service: My waitress Lency was professional, attentive, and her suggestions were on point. She checked on me but didn’t overdo it which allowed me to enjoy my meal in peace. She was great! Ambiance: It was everything!!! I decided to sit outside on the patio since the interior of the restaurant was a bit cold for me. It was such a beautiful day, the music was perfect, and I had the entire patio to myself! I needed that time to myself and I couldn’t have asked for more.

I decided to take this amazing woman out for her birthday to a restaurant she had always seen but never tried. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel truly welcome—attentive service, full drink glasses, and even extra napkins without asking. The little things really stood out. We ordered based on some mouthwatering photos we found on Google, and they did not disappoint. She went with the flat iron steak topped with a mountain of cheese and served with smashed potatoes—simple combo, but absolutely delicious. I had a filet mignon (I believe it was called the Presidential Cut) paired with risotto and seasonal vegetables. Every bite was rich and flavorful. I’d recommend ordering family style so you can share and try a bit of everything. One fun surprise: instead of traditional chips, they bring out thinly sliced, crispy fried plantains with dip—such a unique and tasty touch. I can’t remember the names of the drinks we ordered (was a little too excited to impress my date), but they were spot-on—well-balanced and perfectly mixed. If you’ve ever driven by and thought about checking it out, this is your sign. The atmosphere is cozy and upscale without being stuffy, parking was easy, and even the restrooms were spotless. Don’t overthink it—just go. You won’t be disappointed. Deliciously Toxic Foodie

I attended a private event and the staff was SUPER hospitable! Special SO to Alberto and Elliott at the bar! I didn't catch the names of the other staff, but everyone was pleasant, polite, and professional. The food was tasty and unique. I've been to other locations and enjoyed this one as well. Thanks for a memorable experience, GO CANES!!! 🙌🏾🟠🟢

Good selection for happy hour. The fresh guacamole stood out, so tasty! Very limey(which I love) but if you don’t like lime, it might not be for you. The ceviche had big pieces of tough tilapia which made it hard to eat, not a big fan of it. Great, attentive staff!

I love their happy hour!!! Great appetizers. Great wine specials. Fried plantains and chimichurri sauce are to die for. Tres leches is the best in Houston. Empanadas are exceptional!! Carnitas... on point! Espresso martini... perfecto! Highly recommend!!!

Bodegas Taco Shop is a Tex-Mex restaurant with build-your-own burritos, tacos, tostadas and salads. It also has a tequila bar and patio. The food is good, and the drink specials are great.
Bodegas delivered the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the quality was top-notch. From the perfectly seasoned meats to the fresh, vibrant salsas, everything was spot on. The atmosphere was lively, the service was fantastic, and the drinks and dessert were just as good as the food. Can’t wait to go back!
Prinal P — Google review
I really think this restaurant is faking its top reviews. Tortillas are not fresh, you can taste the preservatives. Same with the cheese. It’s covered in the same dust as shredded cheese you get from the grocery store. The beef fajita meat was very tough, had bad texture, and no flavor. Try a different restaurant in the area instead. Worse than chuy’s, worse than gringo’s, worse than taco cabana. HEB sells 20 fresh tortillas for like $5, there’s no reason for a taco restaurant to not be using fresh tortillas. Gas station quality, downtown price. Staff were friendly, atmosphere was fine. My wife got the fish tacos and said the only thing good was the Coke Zero.
AJ J — Google review
The burrito I had was good and huge, maybe a little less flavorful than I was hoping. They put a good amount of meat in it though. Was not a fan of the tres leches cake. It was very thin, no milk on the bottom and way too much cinnamon. Prices were fair. The atmosphere and set up was very nice

A Day of Dinos and Decibels, Fueled by Bodegas A truly epic Houston day, one that spans from the prehistoric wonders of the Houston Museum of Natural Science to the thundering riffs of a Metallica concert, requires strategic and satisfying sustenance. Bodegas Taco Shop, conveniently nestled in the Museum District, proved to be the perfect fuel for our adventure. Stepping out of the museum and into the early evening, the casual and lively atmosphere of Bodegas was a welcome transition. With the promise of a high-energy concert ahead, we opted for a mix of fresh and flavorful tacos to power us through the night. The grilled chicken tacos were a solid choice. The chicken was tender and juicy, with a nice char-grilled flavor that paired well with the fresh toppings. Each bite was a straightforward and satisfying taste of a classic done right. The standout, however, was the fish tacos. Lightly battered and perfectly flaky, the fish was complemented by a crisp slaw and a creamy sauce that provided a refreshing contrast. They were a flavorful and surprisingly light option that didn't weigh us down before an evening of standing and cheering. Bodegas Taco Shop delivered exactly what we needed: delicious, quick, and energizing food in a prime location. It was the ideal pit stop in a day filled with Houston's finest offerings, from ancient fossils to modern metal legends. If you find yourself in the Museum District with a hunger to satisfy, Bodegas is a reliable and tasty choice.

Always hits the spot. Most don't even know they exist. They are the Gem of the medical center. The associates are always friendly and the the restaurant is always clean. 10/10 recommend.
Tracy J — Google review
Nice setup as far as the atmosphere but that is about all. The food is over priced, overcooked and it all comes straight out of a bag from the frozen food section from grocer supply or sysco. The rice had no flavor or seasoning just added corn to give it the presentation it needed to look appetizing but it was completely BLAND anlong with the beans and salsa. Also the chicken strips were ($13 )HARD DRY & extremely over cooked and the portion size was off...along with the flautas which were EXTRA CRIPSY & the chicken on the ends from the flautas was also burnt..but they still sent it off the line to serve to the customer. The only items that were actually good at this restaurant was the house RANCH & GUACAMOLE BOTH WERE AMAZING 👏 😋

Delicious food! Everything was hot and fresh, cooked to perfection! I especially enjoyed the outstanding customer service! Chris Rodriguez was our server, he’s amazing! I appreciate his patience and great attitude; very friendly, helpful and kind. I was also very satisfied that Liz kept refilling our chips and salsa and also helped to check in on our table. Another server name Eugene overheard my request when our waiter was not around and he went to bring us what we needed (huge plus, thanks for stepping up and working as a team!) Excellent customer service and fantastic management! Will definitely be back again soon!

As I currently sit and eat my food I felt 1000% compelled to write an amazing review on our server Ms. Alida. She was the best waitress and person I have had the pleasure to meet. If you go there ask to sit in her section she will take the absolute best care of you. Very attentive, pays attention to all the details, and overall a very kind soul.🧡 I will be back to see her specifically.

Met here for a family meal and we will be back. Food was very flavorful and huge portions. Attention to details. Loved the addition of other veggies to the fajita plate and pico! The poblano cream sauce was decadent and delicious. Bailey, our server, was friendly and attentive and made sure we had time to visit and enjoy our meal. She also knew the menu well - the Blue Mule she recommended was so good that I had 2. The only draw back for me was the chips. They were thicker than normal and a little grainy. But the red and green sauces were great. The only reason I didn’t give Atmosphere 5 stars was the parking lot. It’s a little sketchy but there is security. All in all it was a great night.

Additionally, the restaurant offers an impressive selection of drinks including local beer, soft drinks, Mexican Coke, white claw, bottled water, and standard beers.

I love how this place opens so late! This is my second time getting velvet taco however the first one at this location. Chili shrimp was probably the best taco that we got, the rotisserie chicken was not good as it was very mushy and finally the Korean fried rice taco was all right. I’d come back and try their other tacos.

Me and my wife did the combo and I had the mexi cali shrimp and slow roasted angus brisket tacos. And she got the birria tacos. They were so so fresh. They came out pretty quickly too. But they were absolutely beautifully presented. The little diner theme was so cute and it smelt so good inside.

This place once had the most chill vibe on Washington. Now it seems a little subdued. The place should have been packed, and it might have been the rain, but there were two other people there, that's it. The huge megalithic gas and smoke station, with their lighting that's visible to Mars, next door kind of kills the mood. Like when you turn the lights on to see the person you brought home from the bar.

From savory spinach enchiladas to zesty cheese and chili gravy options, there's something for everyone.

As a lover of both Tex-Mex and Mexican food, I am happy to report that Sylvia’s is ~really~ good! The quality, of both the food and service, at this location has been top-notch for many years. I’ve always liked enchiladas, and have tried most of the menu. The red salsa that comes with the chips is also very good. The place can get quite busy in the evening, and at those times finding a parking spot can be difficult.
Charles L — Google review
The food is sheer perfection – all the way around. The only thing that lacked was our service. Our server was MIA 90% of the time. The salsa is exactly what I’m looking for in a salsa. It finally compares to the ones I’m used to in Austin. I literally demolished two bowls of the salsa. The crab enchiladas were stuffed with real crab. And the four smaller samples of enchiladas is a brilliant idea. Each had a very unique flavor and it was a great way to try different enchiladas. The drinks were good – the booze kind of sneaks up on you later. Happy hour offered Monday through Friday. I cannot wait to go back— and get a different server!

La Mexicana is a charming, long-standing eatery that features three daily happy hours and serves up simple yet delicious Tex-Mex dishes. Whether you're craving colossal breakfast burritos or traditional Mexican breakfast plates like chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, La Mexicana has got you covered. The restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere with authentic flavors that make it a perfect choice for any dining occasion.
I first discovered LA Mexicana when looking for breakfast tacos for a work meeting. Everything was very good and clearly homemade (including the tortillas). So, I ordered delivery for myself today. Of course I had to get some more breakfast tacos, but I also tried a few other things. The tacos are good portions. Even the chorizo & egg, and macahacado & egg tacos have good portions of chorizo and machacado. They definitely don't skimp on the ingredients. I also tried the carne guisada plate (with refried beans, rice and tortillas). They forgot my tortillas but everything is so good that I don't even care. Haha. (I always have tortillas, or can make my own.) Once again, fresh and homemade. Very good. The ONE thing I did NOT like was the tres leches. First of all, it's the smallest $10 piece of tres leches I've ever seen. That wouldn't be so bad if it tasted good. It didn't have much flavor or sweetness. (HEB has better tres leches.) Everything else is so good that I am still giving all the stars!

The enchiladas were delicious!! Definitely recommend. Indoor and outdoor seating. The spinach enchiladas were really good and our server, Marvin was excellent! Will come again when back in town

This is our second visit here. Our first visit was flawless but this one was a different story. Wife ordered chicken quesadillas with beans no rice and I ordered chicken enchiladas with red sauce. The quesadillas came out with rice no beans and my enchiladas came out with green sauce instead of red. Overall the food was good just not prepared the way we ordered it.
Steven S — Google review
La Mexicana was a great dining experience. We enjoyed the frozen margaritas which wasn’t the typical generic syrup mix. It actually was balanced in flavor with the correct level of sweet and tangy. I ordered beef tacos with cilantro and onion. The chunks of bite-size meat were huge and flavorful. My girlfriend ordered the fish tacos, as did my daughter, and they both enjoyed them. My son ordered one of the biggest burritos we have ever seen. It was so big that he had to cut it in half and take the rest home. He said it was really tasty.
Curtis R — Google review
Not bad but also not flavorful. Chicken fajitas arrived on a standard plate with onions that were cooked for what looks like a few seconds. Chicken enchiladas with mole were very basic and not packing any flavor. First time here and probably our last as too much competition in the area. 2 people with water and queso $56.00
Brent B — Google review
Service was quick, Food is a little greasy but maybe its because I ordered the flautas and they tend to be greasy anyway. The sopapilas were delicious!! We had a mishap with the bill as we were charged someone else's account, but we got it sorted out

Came for brunch this morning. The food was amazing. Our server MIGUEL ANGEL was very rude and displayed homophobic behavior to my friends, slammed a cup on our table when we asked for a refill. Forgot multiple items from our order, never really checked up on us throughout our meal. Had multiple other tables around us that he was very attentive to and charismatic but with our table gave one word replies when asking questions or ignored us completely. We came from DFW for a concert on vacation and this wasn’t a pleasant experience service wise but the food was delicious.
Ric M — Google review
The food wasn't good at all I had the scrambled eggs with fajita chicken and beans. The chicken was too tough I couldn't finish eating it and the salsa was disgusting I actually spit it out I never do that and the waiter wasn't that attentive. I've definitely had better Mexican food and better service. Definitely Will Not Return.

Edgar's Hermano is a southern restaurant serving Tex-Mex cuisine and creative cocktails. The restaurant has rustic decor with an easy-going atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a casual meal. The menu features delicious items such as quesadillas, adobo-crusted pork wings, and bourbon-glazed chicken wings, all prepared with fresh ingredients. White or red wine complements every dish, while the inventive cocktails add a fun and festive touch to every meal.
I failed to get most names but all of the folks who served me in the time I was here were fantastic - kind, hospitable, and exemplary service with each visit. Notably there was a sweet gal with a pony tail, as well as gentleman named James, who were so kind when I came in 20 minutes to close. Regardless of the time of my visit, the service here has consistently been outstanding and overtly “customer first.” I would visit time and time again just for that, but their tacos are pretty fire too.

I came to the bar tonight to grab a quick night cap and watch the Rockets game. The same is really nice and welcoming. I ordered a Classic Old Fashioned. I really appreciated the attention to the cocktail as it is easy to make and easier to mess up.
Jaie E — Google review
The place looks nice but the service was really slow. It wasn’t too busy so there weren’t a lot of wait staff. I only came here to eat because someone else was buying. 1. Started with the house guacamole and it was blend. The chips were thick with some crispy and some soft with oil. This was disappointing. 2. The corn and chicken chowder was surprisingly good for as simple as it was. The bowl was a nice portion. 3. The best thing about the shrimp and avocado salad was the shrimp. Season nicely and not too dry. However the salad was just boring and tasteless. I had honey mustard but it wasn’t very good. Overall the cost of food with food that was too plain and simple doesn’t make it worthwhile to come here.

Reasonably priced very good food, lively atmosphere, and warm and welcoming staffs, I really enjoyed and relaxed at this restaurant. They seemed to serve real Mexican dishes. Habanera And The Guero is a spacious bistro with a terrace that offers Mexican cuisine and an array of margaritas in a relaxed ambiance. It was featured on Restaurant Impossible with Chef Robert Irvine in May 2020, and visitors have been eager to try it out. Despite the pandemic, many are still drawn to this restaurant for its huge margaritas available in various flavors, including the unique blueberry margarita.
My wife and I had watched an episode of Restaurant Impossible with Chef Robert Irvine featuring this restaurant that was shown in May 2020 on Food Network. Since it isn't too far from the house, we decided we wanted to try it, but the issue of the pandemic put that on hold. We had forgotten about it until this week when I noticed it on Google maps. We went to it today (Friday 4/23/2021) for dinner and showed up around 7 PM. It was reasonable busy, but still several table inside were available. We entered with masks on even though we didn't notice a sign asking us to. We were quickly seated and our drink orders were taken. Some of the restaurant personnel were wearing masks and some weren't. I had read this on one of the reviews and we were okay with that. The place was clean and the restaurant personnel were busy taking care of everyone and very pleasant when they interacted with us. We were brought chips before we ordered. I ended up trying a Dragon Fruit Margarita since the place is supposed to be specialize in 17 types of margaritas and I had never tried Dragon Fruit before. There was plenty of tequila in it. For dinner, I ordered the Enchilada Trio which included one each of the Verde, Mole, Roja enchiladas along with beans and rice. My wife got the fish tacos. There was plenty of food for both of us and it was very tasteful with a lot of flavor. Overall, service was excellent, food came out in a reasonable time, and it was an enjoyable experience.

Definitely would have given this a 5 star if the service was better. The food was incredibly delicious and everything tasted fresh. I wanted to try the margaritas because they looked delicious but because they were taking forever I decided not to. There were only two guys serving on the floor and I definitely understand short staff shortage but it was not all enjoyable. This place has potential though because their food is great. The place is not that big but they do have a good seating amount as well as a bar and outside seating.

Its a bit of a dive.. but I like a bit of adventure and I was told they had really good Margherita's.. so I went in.. The atmosphere was a bit lacking but the staff was friendly. They quickly got us seated and the service was pretty good. The chips and salsa were lacking. More the salsa and the green just weren't my thing. The Pico was good though. No big deal.. Where the chips and salsa lacked .. they made up for it big time on the Margheritas. We tried 4 different flavors all were good. They were huge. Loaded with booze and tasted good. Ordered some queso with brisket next. They screwed it up and just brought queso, but fixed it quickly. Definitely much better than the salsa. Also has the bacon wrapped shrimp. It was a bit sweet to taste which I wasn't expecting but okay. I can't say it was a home run though. Probably wouldn't get it again. The fajitas though were great and the beans.. loved the beans and I'm not a big fan of beans normally. So.. for this place to get 4 stars from me. 1) couple screw ups on service. Solve that. 2) invest in a sign and update the place a bit. You have a decent product but I'm sure that people pull up and drive away. 3) change the salsa and green thing. Just didn't do it for me. 4) come up with some combinations of margaritas that are popular. I had to think about it and would be nice to have something to just pick from that had flavors mixed. The pricing was amazing. Way cheaper than expected. I'd definitely come back for some drinks and fajitas again.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a 5-star overall experience! The atmosphere, service, quality of food and drinks are unmatched and we are so thankful to have found this place while on an overnight stay in Houston! If you’re in the area, this place is an absolute MUST. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Huge margaritas...I mean huge. And lots of flavors. I had the blueberry margarita. I have not seen a blueberry margarita before. It was very good. They are not very strong, but by the end you'll notice the alcohol. Chip sauces were good and fresh. We got a red salsa, fresh pico, and a green sauce. Don't see that much anymore. My favorite was the green sauce. Great heat level, with a ton of flavor. My entree was the Pork Belly Tacos. They were tender and delicious. I will be back for more.

Some of the most amazing food and very hospitable staff. The BEST tortilla chips I have ever had. Definitely recommended. It is so close to the Hobby, if you're at hotel nearby. Please don't regret not coming here.

Ninfa's is a family-owned restaurant known for its fajitas, margaritas, and homemade tortillas. It started as a small venture to support Ninfa Laurenzo's struggling tortilla factory but has since grown into a popular establishment with locations in Uptown and Navigation. The menu features traditional Mexican dishes like handmade tamales and the original Taco a la Ninfa, created in 1973.
This location far exceeded my expectations!! Our server was incredibly hospitable (Jose) as was the rest of the staff throughout our experience. Plenty of parking, indoor & outdoor seating available, & a wide range of menu options. Food was delicious and tasted fresh. Would def return & recommend to a friend!

Absolutely enjoyed our visit. The food was great. The atmosphere was authentic. The waitresses were awesome. I ordered the Diablo tacos. Everything tasted fresh. Beware, the borracho had a little heat to them, but I'm a spice wimp. Great flavor, though. If you get a chance, try it out. If I had one negative, it would be the sewer smell in the bathrooms. But, if you want authentic, this goes with it.

Never thought I'd say this about a Mexican restaurant but these were some of the best RIBS I've ever had. Can't go wrong with anything on this plate. The food was amazing, vibe of the restaurant was great, staff was very nice and smiling, I'll be back forsure.

We ate dinner at Ninfas by the Hobby airport while staying at a nearby hotel before an early morning flight. The restaurant is very close to the airport and Marriott hotel making it a convenient choice. It has been many years since we’ve eaten at a Ninfas and it used to be a favorite Mexican restaurant chain for us when in Houston. We enjoyed the exemplary service from Amely F. She promptly greeted us with a pleasant smile and helpful suggestions. The menu provided ample choices of traditional Tex Mex and grilled favorites. We shared our two dinner orders and enjoyed the tamale, enchilada, and grilled beef, and sausage along with charro beans. The chicken was a bit dry, and the heated tortilla was a bit chewy. La Perfecta margarita was excellent. While the restaurant itself was fine, it was a bit dated and the atmosphere could use a refresh. Overall we were pleased with the dinner experience highlighted by Amely’s friendly, professional, and attentive service. If you are in the Hobby airport area it is a solid choice.

A Diamond in the rough. The atmosphere is so peaceful, feels like a quint restaurant in Mexico. The food is all authentic home made, and delicious. The staff is so efficient and friendly. Arturo the owner talks to everyone, and gives some history and explains the dishes. The bartender Selia is amazing at serving delicious drinks. I’ll be back and will bring others with me

Totally recommend it! Food it’s delicious and the portions are pretty good size. Came here for the Houston Restaurant Weeks! Anita was such an excellent server, it was our first time visiting La Fisheria and she walked us through out the menu and made recommendations of the most delicious food. Mario the Chef came to say Hello to our table and we definitely love every dish He made. Truly recommend it!! 😻😻 Definitely will visit again!!

This was my first time visiting Houston, and my family and I loved this restaurant so much that we ate here every day for three days. The food is simply delicious—my sister’s boyfriend put it best when he said, “They can’t miss.” Every dish we tried was incredibly fresh, and the seafood in particular was outstanding. The service was equally impressive. Every server we met was friendly and welcoming, and a special shout-out goes to Anita for her warm hospitality and attentive care. I would honestly return to Houston just to eat here again. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and consistent quality. Highly recommended for anyone looking for excellent food, great service, and true value.

Absolutely blown away by the fresh flavors and warm ambience here. I tried the ceviche verde at my server’s recommendation, which was an extremely generous portion and so full of flavor and texture. Then i had the tamal delote with shrimp and bacon which is one of the best entrees I’ve ever had. So creamy and garlicky and delicious! I wish I lived in Houston and could come here again

Beautiful restaurant with friendly staff! We tried a few things and loved them all. This is the first time I've had octopus and really enjoyed it. Food was very fresh, rich and delicious! Drinks were good, too. Ask for their spicy salsas for an extra kick! Absolutely loved the staff.

My wife and I stopped by The Fisheries for lunch and were immediately struck by the vibrant, colorful atmosphere it’s a lively spot that sets the tone for a fun meal. Once seated, we were served complimentary chips with tomatillo salsa. The salsa was spot on: tangy, fresh, and full of flavor. The chips, however, felt like they came straight out of a bag not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. We started with the tuna tostadas. The tuna itself was fresh and well prepared, but the tostada base was a little stale, and the chipotle mayo lacked any real chipotle flavor. For our mains, my wife had the ribeye tacos with rice and beans, and I went with the pulpo a la parrilla. Honestly, it felt like these two dishes came from completely different kitchens. The ribeye tacos were fine nothing particularly memorable and the sides didn’t elevate the plate. But the octopus? That was a home run. Tender, flavorful, and beautifully complemented by vegetables and yuca. The guajillo salsa tied everything together perfectly. It was the kind of dish that makes you pause and appreciate every bite. Despite a few misses, we’d definitely come back to explore more of the menu. If the octopus is any indication, there are gems to be found.

I must say… WELCOME TO HOUSTON! 🥳🎉 What a great way to start a holiday weekend! The food is outstanding!!! I grew up with rice and beans, but holly cow, these are the best I have eaten in my entire life! The chips, the tacos, the sauce, the tamarind margarita, the oysters - were absolutely phenomenal. But let’s talk about the service… My girl Anita seriously gave the best customer service I have received nationwide; and I am a traveler! Her politeness, her professionalism, and friendliness seriously made our date night even better. I must add, the host and the table server were also super sweet. Thank you for such an amazing service and excellent quality tasty food! PS. My photos don’t do justice to the beautiful presentation and flavor punch La Fishería offers its customers.

We stopped by for date night and loved everything. This is authentic and creative Mexican in the heart of Houston. I got the guava mango margarita. It is sweet but not sickly. The presentation for everything is amazing. We also got the guacamole and were overwhelmed with how fresh and perfect it paired with the beef topping - a must try. Both my husband and I tried the ribeye aguachile. I have never had ribeye this way, it was seared to a perfect medium and served in a perfect poblano sauce with lime, cucumber, and avocado chunks. It was a food pairing I am dying to try to recreate. Our server, Anita, was amazing; she was friendly, gave great suggestions, and attentive. This is a must try for happy hour or date night.

The cafe is popular among locals and regulars, often bustling with crowds enjoying their hot cinnamon coffee or the signature vampiro drink.

I've been to Guadalupana many many times, because I used to live close by & it's convenient. The food in general is solid & filling & tastes ok, but honestly not extraordinary. I've pretty much had their entire menu, but mostly gravitate towards their breakfast dishes. Their coffee is AWESOME & I've bought several bags over the years. The staff & service are super friendly & great to be around. Parking is not convenient, so avoid the rush hours. I mostly used to walk there. It's a great little place to grab a quick bite or meet a friend, but the space is somewhat limited for big parties, & it can get a bit loud, but the energy is good.

We stopped by to get breakfast tacos bc the coffee shop we tried that morning didn't have food. We had to park up the road bc parking was crazy, but ordered quickly and got our food fast. The staff was friendly and the spot reminded me of a diner I used to go to as a kid. Tacos were fine, flour tortillas were better than the corn. I wish the salsa was hotter, but it had good flavor. We also got a marranito to take home.

Service was alright. Food was mediocre, the tortillas for the tacos were still cold and didn’t seem to have been placed on the comal for long. Steak fajita tacos were too chewy, but I wasn’t sure if there was an option for carne asada instead of the fajita. Horchata, Ice Coffee, and chips and homemade salsa were good!

Laredo Taqueria is a popular fast-food spot with simple sidewalk seating, known for its delicious breakfast tacos and classic Mexican dishes. The place is famous for its handmade flour tortillas that customers line up for daily. While they also offer corn tortillas, it's recommended to stick with the flour ones to keep the line moving smoothly.
Sure the line is long but it does go fairly quickly and inside is nice seating. The menu is simple and the food is so tasty!! For sure the best flour tortilla in Houston. I wish I had tried the corn tortilla! Spicy fajita filling was delicious. Beans added to any taco is the way to go! Worth it!

Solid spot for classic, no frills tacos. The handmade tortillas are fresh and the fillings; especially the barbacoa and picadillo are flavorful, though overall the food is simple and straightforward. Service is fast but rushed and not particularly friendly, so don’t expect a warm welcome. Great value for the price, but be prepared for long lines and a very casual experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re from Houston and haven’t been here yet, you’re seriously missing out. This spot is a hidden gem! Everything is made from scratch — especially the homemade flour tortillas (they’re next level). I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and it’s always been consistently amazing. Great Mexican hot chocolate. Great food. Great prices. I made the mistake of going to another restaurant a little to the east for breakfast this morning (with a decent rating maybe 4.6) and the potatoes were hard, they brought the wrong tortillas, their 5 dollar hot chocolate is just a packet of American style cocoa, and the eggs had no flavor. I've never had a bad experience at Puebla's and I'm sad I took my girlfriend elsewhere.

*** Replying to owner. You are incorrect no one asked us before we left if we needed anything. Now you do have mole verde on your menú. It's listed under your platos fuertes /moles. Is that not your menu photo. The box was for the pork not the rice which is what I listed. Now if I had a large horchata that should not matter being as soon as we sat our drink order was water and it was not brought until I asked owner. The chicken on chilaquiles was brought after I told waiter what he ordered that was not on plate it was missing.*** We asked for water that was never brought. We had to ask who I believe was the owner. He brought 2 small glasses never asked if we wanted more water. So I sat sipping my water to not run out. I ordered mole verde that comes with cilantro rice and black beans. Rice was hard and undercooked. My husband asked for chilaquiles with chicken. He did not get the chicken. Never asked if we needed anything. Poor service and honestly poor food. Not worth it. Very expensive for bad experience.

Was seated quickly, not very busy (luckily, as the parking lot was very tiny). I will say their were definitely options to choose from, the atmosphere was nice, cool custom jars for coffee, but the food was nothing amazing. I could serve myself the same can of coke (yes, a can) and Mole Chilaquiles from home. However, in the end everything was priced as if it were a 5 star restaurant. Way too much money for the mid quality food.

Very flavorful and well seasoned steak tacos. They only have beef - fajita or tongue for meat options. The tacos are cheap and delicious. I noticed a lot of people ordering the plate which I’ll have to try next time. They also have agua frescas and yes they’re cash only.

El Taconaso as excellent food, highly recommended. The place is always packed, and they take one order at a time, which makes service very slow. Better management could improve the experience and their business significantly.

I consider el taconazo as one of the food staples of Houston, a hidden gem that you shouldn't miss. There is no bs, just delicious lengua and barbacoa. There are more items, but this is always my go-to. Do I need to say more? The lengua is always tender and delicious. They also have a plate with cheese, which I also recommend a lot! But if you're on the run, make a quick pit stop, I recommend the tacos fuel up your engine and hit the road to continue with your day!

Some of the best tacos in all of Houston. Value for the money spent is great. The tacos are full of flavor, perfect moisture and not dry. The salsa was spicy but not so spicy that it overpowers the flavor of the meat. I would definitely go back if I find myself in that area.

Wow! This place packs some flavor! The prices are great and the food is awesome. The Trompo was flavorful and tender. The fajita was a over average in taste but well above average in tenderness. Tatemó is a hidden gem in Spring Branch, offering an intimate and unpretentious dining experience centered around Mexican corn. Chef Emmanuel Chavez's mission to elevate the cultural significance of maiz is evident in the meticulous nixtamalization process used to create handmade tortillas from heirloom corn varieties. The restaurant offers a six-plus course tasting menu for dinner, featuring dishes like blue corn quesadillas, rich mole draped over tortillas, and sopes topped with shaved cheese.
I'm really happy to see a restaurant like this in Spring Branch. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. If you want elevated Mexican food with a story behind it, this is the place to go. The wait staff was all very informed of every dish we had on the tasting menu. I think some of the best salsa I ever had was here. This is a good place for an intimate dinner.

Sometimes you find yourself in a place that makes you pause and wonder how you got there – and what it is you were hoping to discover. We traveled to Houston with the intention of exploring its fine dining scene, particularly the Mexican influences woven into the city’s culinary landscape. High on our list was Tatemó, a Michelin-starred gem with just 18 seats and a bring-your-own-wine policy – both charming and rare. With a single knock on the door, we were warmly welcomed by a passionate host who walked us to our table and introduced the evening’s menu with genuine enthusiasm. What followed was nothing short of a flavour rollercoaster. The meal began with a beautifully balanced starter and only escalated in richness and complexity with each course. We came with no expectations and were completely swept away by the depth of earthy, culturally rooted flavours paired with fresh, vibrant ingredients that made each dish sing. One particular course – delicate, sweet, and almost sushi-like in its elegance – caught us completely off guard in the best possible way. We still talk about this meal. And we hope to return in September, drawn back by a dining experience that left a lasting impression we won’t soon forget.

Definitely worthy of the James Beard Award and Michelin Star. Pictures of each course are attached and you will see I may have taken a bite before the picture was taken.

We were super impressed with the creativity and taste of the dishes we had! We came to celebrate my partner's birthday so we brought a bottle of wine since they only have non-alcoholic drinks. We did try the De La Calle Tepache grapefruit lime flavor and it was great! The first dish of the tasting menu, Tostada de Tuna, was the best thing I've ever had with caviar. I could've eaten 10 of those! The Taco de Pescado was absolutely delicious as well! The portions were perfect, and we were pleasantly satisfied by the end of the night.

All I can say is wow wow wow!! Tatemo is a quiet, quaint and elegant atmosphere all at the same time. Carrying a Michelin star, the food was outstanding, ranging from a Tuna Tostada topped with Russian caviar, a Wagyu Beef Encachetada with just the perfect amount of marbling to leave your mouth drooling, and ending on a Postre de Temporada (Toasted Pineapple and Mango Sorbet, Mascarpone, Pistachio, Chamoy, Hoya Santa Nicutole, & Olive Oil)… just to call out a few of the courses. Everything absolutely made from scratch, screams to the passion of Chef Emmanuel Chavez’s love for his food and attention to detail. The servers are amazing and completely versed in every bite that you will be taking and will guide you through this culinary journey. And lastly, for the atmosphere… As you walk in, you really do not know what to expect as the front has no markings or sign on the restaurant, adding to its mystique. When you walk in, it is a very intimate setting, seating a maximum of maybe 18 people, reservation only; it is very quiet and quite relaxing. Definitely an adults only environment due to the sheer elegance of the food and environment. If you’re going to be in Houston, you’re going to want to make it a priority to get reservations as soon as possible, since they are at a premium… completely worth it! I definitely see a second Michelin Star in the future of Tatemo! Chef Emmanuel… I hate that I didn’t get to shake your hand, but I will leave you with this… Well Done!!!

We arrived at Tatemo and weren't sure we had actually arrived. We were a bit confused and lost in finding the restaurant. (We drove past it twice and didn't realize where it was until the doors opened and saw other patrons leaving). Aside from the marquis sign reading "Tatemo, "...the building is not marked. It's across the street from Karbach Brewery. Rest assured you have arrived. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation, and decided to head in to use the restroom and take a few pictures. However, seating is extremely limited, and interior is dimly lit with majority of lighting coming from candles. There is one restroom for the venue, and it was occupied, so we were asked to wait in our vehicle. We left up the street to use the restroom, and returned 10 minutes prior to our reservation. Thankfully, our table was ready, so we were immediately seated. The food is good. In fact, very good. The tostada was the best I've ever had. Same for the salsas. Talk about any explosion of flavor!! The red salsa was where it's at, such a rich and nutty flavor (reminds me almost of a good pesto, but red and spicy). Also notable was the encachetada. The wagyu ribeye was out of this world soft and tender. That was quite an experience! I could eat a dozen of the Bunuelos. (Probably not, but Mama didn't raise a quitter, so I'd sure try!) There was a couple seated at the bar, and the young man proposed to his date. It was wonderful, and really made the whole night celebratory. The staff did a fantastic job at making those guests (and really all of us in the restaurant) feel special. The newly engaged couple was celebrated and cheered on by the whole restaurant, and chef Emmanuel came around and provided conversation and celebratory shots to each patron to celebrate love. We were very grateful to be a part of this night. It did indeed feel magical! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our date night. The food was great, as was the personal attention of Chef Emmanuel. I am hopeful that Emmanuel and his team can continue on with their success and expand into an environment worthy of their food and services.

So, the salsa was pretty amazing. Better than anything back home in Orange. The queso was delicious as well. The chips were thin and tasty. The strawberry lemonade was to die for.The ribs were phenomenal...I wasn't expecting that much food... Honestly much more food than I thought I was going to get. Our server, Karina was excellent, professional, and thoughtful...not to mention beautiful. Me, my mom, and step-dad enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you so much.

Tex Mex restaurant in the Downtown area. Bustling restaurant with good selection of Mexican food. Ordered a Mango margarita, which was huge and seemed to be almost bottomless. For Main course I went for a half rack of ribs with bacon wrapped prawns filled with cheese. My dining companion ordered the crispy rolled chicken tacos, which he thought were great and really crispy. Great food which is reasonably priced

I enjoyed myself. The menu seemed different than I remembered or maybe not… last time I visited was l from years back. Seating was at the bar due to a crowd but Ashley was great! Patient and very nice. I salsa was warm to hot which I never had before but fresh and tasty. My meal wasn’t bad and the tres leeches cheesecake for Cinco de Mayo was really good. Best thing I got.

The margaritas are fabulous but pricey ,$24 for a large . The food was pretty good . Mixed grill was an excellent choice for and all the meat was tender and lots of flavor . Rice and beans were sub-par and tasted bland to us. The red snapper was exceptional but a small filet dressed in peppers and onions to make a meal. Chips and salsa were great , salsa had amazing flavor .

It's a great example of the Pappas brand. The service was great even though it was dead on a Sunday evening. I had the seafood enchiladas and had maybe one of the best tasting scallops I've ever had. Though to be fair I haven't had a ton of scallops

Pappasito’s has a special place in my heart now. I had THE BEST service and experience there with my coworkers. Our server Anthony and Manager Bryce were the highlight of our time there. We honestly stayed longer to just mess with them longer, and even with a busy restaurant they still found the time to make our day and share some laughs with our table. I didn’t feel like a customer, I felt like family. Will definitely be back!! *PS. The New Zealand lamb chops are AMAZING!!!*

I would definitely go back. Food: I ordered the Reynosa and braised beef enchilada. They were amazing and it is actually a lot of food. So you are definitely getting what you pay for. Service: waited a while for refills on drinks but that was the only thing. Other than that staff was friendly. Atmosphere: it was chill. People were coming in from the anime convention and after the Astros game so it was getting busy.

Rainbow Lodge is an elegant and historic cabin restaurant in Houston, known for its upscale American fare featuring wild game and seafood. The restaurant offers a romantic Valentine's Celebration for Two To-Go, including a gourmet meal and a bottle of champagne. Originally located next to Ima Hogg's Bayou Bend mansion in 1977, it has since moved to a century-old log cabin along the banks of White Oak Bayou while maintaining its lush grounds and rustic lodge decor.
I love Rainbow Lodge. I've been several times and it never disappoints. We went today for brunch and enjoyed everything. We had the whipped goat cheese, peas and snaps as well as the quail bites to start. For the entree we had the red fish and jumbo gulf shrimp and grits. So delicious! We sat at the bar top and enjoyed our meal with drinks. I highly recommend you try this place!

A true hidden treasure in Houston. Beautiful log cabin restaurant with a very nice patio area. The scenery is beautiful and makes you feel like you’re in another state. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The meat dishes are very tender, soft, and smoky. However there are some dishes that I don’t think are worth the price, but overall it is a nice restaurant to splurge on and enjoy a different scenery and space.

Valet parking. Top tier service. Comfortable atmosphere. Delicious fare: nice presentation & portion size. The food was the star. The game was cooked to perfection, so tender. The fish was well seasoned & the sauce & spinach were very good. Our least favorite bite of the night with the cheddar grits that came with the quail appetizer & the wild game entrée. A bit more seasoning would have helped. The highlight of the meal was the dessert. Hands down, the best dessert I've ever had. The atmosphere was elevated but not stuffy. We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. The card from the staff was a sweet touch. Highly recommend. Appetizer: CRISPY TEXAS QUAIL BITES Entrée 1: WILD GAME MIXED GRILL (venison, elk loin, & quail) Entrée 2: RAINBOW TROUT WITH LUMP BLUE CRAB & PECAN BROWN BUTTER Dessert: WARM CROISSANT BREAD PUDDING

Want to start by saying Thomas is an incredible server! He definitely made our experience more enjoyable! We went for the end of Houston restaurant week and they had a really great three course meal deal for $55. As a vegetarian, I don’t necessarily think my meal was worth the $55, but I do appreciate them having a vegetarian option on the menu so I can still go to the places my friends want to try. However, I think this was an incredible deal for those having the meat options on the menu. My one friend got the Bison, and the other had the Quail and Venison. The starter salads were phenomenal, and don’t even get me started on dessert. Firstly I really expected smaller portion since it was a deal but no, full sized desserts. Amazing. The peach panna cotta was so light and fresh, the bread pudding was soooo warm and soft, and the chocolate mousse perfectly rich. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant, especially for a nice date night or getting dressed up with the girls.

Rustic country vibe. Beautiful scenery with simple decor. Great for casual dinner with a fancy flare. Food was great. Mashed potatoes had too much goat cheese but still ok. Our waiter was talkative but extremely personable and kind. Can't remember his name but his wife loves horses. I'll definitely be back.
Misha D — Google review
Decent food with interesting atmosphere & decor. Nice party rooms that can hold 13 people. Scalloped potatoes were my favorite & the asparagus. The fish and meats were good, but a bit too salty for me. I’d like a bit more sprinkles or fresh greens on the plate to cut down on saltiness.

They have complementary valet parking so even if you don’t find a spot it’s easy enough. I went for Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. I had the steak and eggs and finished everything on my plate. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. They have two dollar mimosas for those of you that are interested on Sundays until 3.

This unique restaurant has it all - easy valet parking, friendly hostess, fantastic food and fabulous server (Izzy was amazing). Went with a small group so we got to try the duck gumbo, wild game mixed grill, antelope loin, pan seared redfish and lodge rolls. Everything was delicious, wasn’t gamey, and was fun to taste new things. Izzy checked on us and made sure we had drinks, answered all our questions, and he turned the dinner into an experience. I can’t wait to go back and try more things!

Pappasito's Cantina is a Tex-Mex chain known for its vibrant atmosphere and delicious margaritas. The restaurant offers a festive look and serves up Tex-Mex dishes alongside specialty margaritas. Guests rave about the warm, smoky-flavored salsa and fresh guacamole. The wait staff receives high praise, with mentions of attentive service from servers like Billie and Melissa.
Good food, nice atmosphere (a little loud in a festive way), and great service. Our server was Mikey and what a waiter! Even though the restaurant and he were quite busy, Mikey made time for us, was prompt, and met our every need and was very nice and friendly. We'll definitely be requesting Mikey as our waiter upon our return. Would recommend the Chipotle shrimp, but everything we had was good. House margaritas were great too.

It was my first time visiting, and I went with a group of friends who had reserved a table after a close friend of mine got baptized. I ordered the fajita special, and when I asked to switch something in my order, they had no problem fixing it right away. First-Time Visit Made Memorable! I had the pleasure of dining at Pappasito’s in Houston for the first time, and it was an experience worth sharing! From the moment we walked in, our waitress—an incredibly kind and friendly Christian woman—made us feel right at home. She greeted us with genuine warmth and even brought out salsa and queso to start, which was such a thoughtful touch and a delicious surprise! The food was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and served with care. You can tell the staff takes pride in both the service and the kitchen. As a first-time visitor, I felt welcomed and appreciated, and that’s not something you find everywhere. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great Tex-Mex and even better hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

Love it here. The service has always been top tier and the food does not disappoint. The sweet and spicy ribs are a MUST TRY! The space is a little small for the amount of tables they’ve put inside but, I still keep coming back, lol; Also the drinks are strong and reasonably priced. They also have a great lunch menu. It’s always busy so, just try them anytime and I’m sure you won’t regret it!

It was great as usual. I was concerned for a while about the small food portions that was being brought to the table fir a high price tag, but pappasitos aren't again being on top of their game, by providing substantial portions of food for the price. Great job.

The service was wonderful. The atmosphere was very nice. The salsa was delicious. The food presentation was nice but I was not impressed with my shrimp quesadilla. I should have been able to add my toppings but the cheese was so thick I couldn't. I hope next time I visit I can try something new.

Irma's Original is a cozy Tex-Mex spot in Galveston's Historic District, known for its homemade fare and fresh juices. The restaurant has been operating for over two decades, maintaining its quaint ambiance with home furnishings and celebrity photos adorning the walls. In 2010, the owner decided to expand and introduce regular dinner service along with actual menus. Located at the corner of 14th St. and Market St.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Best part is that there's NO MENU! They'll serve you what's the freshest (aka...special of the day) plus all the "standard" Mexican fare. The Galvin family will take excellent care you!!!!

Irma’s is the place to go for great food, a fun atmosphere and a family run scratch kitchen! The lemonade is a must! Don’t ask for a menu because they don’t have one. It is also a visual delight! Everything is homemade and fresh. I can’t wait to return to try more things!
Pamela M — Google review
Yes Irma’s Original…a quaint little restaurant in the shadow of the Ball Park. The food is just good....but the question is how much would you pay for this plate of Carne Asada. $25? $35? $45? If you guessed $45, you'd be correct. Sometimes it’s $55 depending on who your server is. My suggestion is to avoid eating at Irma's unless of course you have unlimited funds and don't mind being a victim instead of a patron. For years, Irma's Original had great food, and I loved visiting with the owner Irma. It was an authentic little place to eat before a game or just have a nice lunch. Now the place is nothing more than a major tourist trap. When you arrive, you are told they have no menus. They tell you what they have that day and you pick one. When you ask how much, they say "not so much". Ok that's strange but I've been here before and it’s always been about $25-$30 per entree. Then they bring you guacamole and queso that you didn't order and say "it's best of the house' in a heavy accent which you assume he said "it's on the house" What you don't know is that queso just cost you $50. Yes $50. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but it's not amazing, It's just good. But when they deliver the check, it just a total amount. Not itemized, just a total. And that total for four people could be $195, maybe $200 or higher. When you ask for an itemized receipt, they refuse. If you google them, you’ll find theyhave been doing this for few years and thousands of people have reported paying as much as $500 for a table of 4. Wow. Of course, Irma's or any other restaurant for that matter, has the right to charge whatever they want for their food and you have the option to eat there or not. But to hide their prices and then force patrons into paying outrageous prices is not only wrong, its illegal.
Michael B — Google review
A friend recommended this place and i throughly enjoyed every bit of it. Everythingfrom the drinks (alcohol and non alcohol) to the food, to the attentive service was great. Just know if you don't want the specials of the day, you have a nice variety of enchiladas to choose from. Also know that if you need to know the prices of every thing that you're ordering this may not be the place for you because you will not know your total until you get your ticket. You either want the delicious banana pudding or not. (Trust me you do)
Reginald P — Google review
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I highly recommend going with someone who knows what to order because not only do they not have a menu, but it also seems to change frequently. Most of the options are traditional Mexican dishes. As soon as we sat down, they brought out chips with salsa, queso, and guac—all of which were really good! Then they served us tamales (my first time trying them—they were okay). Since this is a family-owned restaurant, they seem to focus on a cozy, homey vibe, which makes sense because apparently, most Mexican restaurants don’t serve tamales. They also gave us this delicious and refreshing fruit juice with watermelon, pineapple, and other tropical flavors. I loved it! My boyfriend got the same thing, but as a margarita, and the portion was huge. Again, they don’t have a menu—you sit down, and they tell you what’s available. I guess it changes often, but I did feel like the choices were limited. There were only four dishes offered when we went. In the photos below, I got the dish with the darker sauce and chicken, while my boyfriend got the same thing as a half-portion, paired with another dish that had a lighter sauce. That one was actually really good! Mine was okay, but the flavor was a bit too strong for me. The chicken itself was well-cooked, though. After that, they gave us tres leches to-go. Not my favorite, but I know a lot of people love it. Looking back, the price point was on the higher side. I didn’t really notice at the time because I was just focused on lunch, but our total came out to around $100 for two meals and two drinks. It’s not outrageous, considering the portions were generous, but I had no idea how much each item cost. It would make more sense if they were more transparent with pricing.
Claire B — Google review
The lentils were a nice little appetizer! The chile relleno was amazing! Carne guisada was so tender. Chicken enchilada was so good with the homemade corn tortilla. The dessert was good. It was our first time there and afterwards we noticed that everybody had the same drink. I asked a waitress what it was and she said fruit lemonade. She gave me a taste and it was absolutely delicious! I wish they had a menu with prices.
Amanda L — Google review
First time there and my last time. The atmosphere was unique and enjoyable, the service was great. The food was authentic and very small portions. The flavor was good and presentation good. Two bad things are No Menus or Pricing. What I expected was about $20 a plate. Ended up spending $100 without tip. 2 teas, 1 enchilada, 2 tamales , rice and about 2 tablespoons of charro beans, small quacamole, about 3 tablespoons of queso. The other plate was small red snapper over rice with spinach, about 2 tablespoons of charro beans. We had to ask for itemized pricing on the ticket they brought and they didn't like doing it but we insisted. Extremely pricey, very small portions, not worth the price!
Kaylene C — Google review
Great place and great service BUT.... We paid 105$ for 3 people. That was 3 meals 2 waters, 1 tea and a side of guacamole. I let my daughter use my card to pay and by the time I walked up I caught a glimpse of the itemized bill and only saw the plate prices. I believe I it was 20$, 25$ & 30$. Not sure how much the guacamole was or the tea. Surely it wasn't 30$. I am not sure if tip was included but I left one because of the food and service was good but WOW. Took me by surprise.

I wish I could give the restaurant a better rating, but I can't do it in good faith. The food was good (not exceptional, but pretty good overall), and the ambiance is nicely decorated, with friendly staff. But the main issue is that black mold was visible in the fountain drink station. Primarily in the ice dispenser. Since it could lead to some people getting sick, for something that is basic maintenance/cleaning, I have to give it 1 star.

I was there to hear the mariachis for Mexican Independence Day. First and foremost, the mariachis were advertised to perform from 6 to 9 p.m. The times were advertised with a flyer at the restaurant plus on Facebook. They didn't come until 7 p.m. I rushed to get there by 6 p.m. to grab a table. The place wasn't crowded at all. Perhaps it's because it was a Monday. Furthermore, I wanted to take my Dad who's in his 80s and enjoys mariachis. Through Facebook messenger, they had told me they don't reserve tables. When I arrived, a big section was reserved for the family of the owner. I understand that part. But there was a second table on the second row reserved too. I decided to order a pineapple margarita. They cost $9 with house tequila. That's pricey for the small one. And it was nothing to write home about. For my meal, I ordered black bean sopes with no onions. They're ok. They forgot the cilantro. And the sopes tend to be dry. I was craving something sweet and got a tres leches slice. Their cake is delicious. However, it didn't come with the mini Mexican flag nor colored red and green sugar it had been advertised as. My friend did enjoy her tacos thoroughly. She's Mexican and says they're really authentic. The mariachis hired to perform at the restaurant for Mexican holidays always put on a great show.

The food is ok but not phenomenal. The portion sizes are stingy and if you want something it's an up charge. Despite paying the up charge the portion is stingy and not worth paying for. In that case you are better off going elsewhere. How are you going to have a torta that typically comes with beans & cheese without those ingredients and expect the customer to pay for them? Same thing with the flautas they typically come with cream, cheese, lettuce & avocado but charge for those things? It's just not worth the hype you are most definitely better off going to an authentic Mexican restaurant.

Came here for a quick lunch. This place has plenty of seating inside and outside, you have to order at the front and then they call your order for you to come get it. The place is decorated but feels a bit stuffy. It was very warm when we were there so they definitely need to adjust their AC. The tacos came out fast and they were delicious, the salsa was spicy which I LOVE.

The minute you walk in you’re greeted with a. Festive atmosphere. Next the service is quick and on point. The food is great and recommend the chicken sopes and chips and salsa. Get the molcajete fresh and warm.

I got red Chilaquiles and a non-alcoholic pineapple margarita. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was so nice and sweet. Every time I come over it’s always a good experience. Parking is absolutely terrible though. It’s very small. It’s not only for the restaurant. It’s for other businesses too and it’s a struggle to find a spot.

Update: I took a friend who has never been here and we arrived around 1 PM. We had lunch and played catch up. No one was waiting on a table and there were empty tables available. I have never had a restaurant take away our chips and salsa that was on our table. That killed it for me. My first time here for lunch was better than my recent visit.

Ate at this restaurant at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Nachos with chicken were pretty typical. Fiesta salad with chicken was better. Both were quite filling.

Great customer service here. We shared the crab and shrimp enchiladas. We were not impressed with this dish we chose, they asked our thoughts I shared our displeasure I told them I would pay as everything else was perfect. They removed and were insistent. I just tipped better to off set. House margaritas were great. We love the atmosphere and the service. We will be back!!!

1st impression , delicious fresh food served. 👍 the guacamole , salsa taste great, tortilla chips light crisp texture very good indeed. I can recommend EL Patio Mexican restaurant 100%. Suggest if you coming with large group please call ahead of time. Ask for Alejandro A the manager to help you with reservations for large group. Fri-Sat live music and happy hour bar. Recommend it! 👌

I got there on a Saturday by myself at 4:45pm. I just wanted a good margarita and some enchiladas. Not one car in the parking lot but every single space was blocked off for valet. Having had surgery I have a handicap placard. That was blocked for valet. Newsflash El Patio it is illegal to block off handicap parking for valet. I will be reporting you. It’s one thing to block 75% off, but 100% is unacceptable and I ended up going elsewhere and will never ever come back.

What an amazing array of 🍰 pastries. A go to spot if you are close to one of their locations. So many items in which to choose for everyone's taste. I am sure their custom cake are delish. We picked out 14 items for 20$. They were are scrumptious.

Disappointed. I ordered a Hello Kitty heart-shaped cake a week in advance for my daughter’s birthday. During the ordering process, I was told the cake would cost extra due to the heart shape, which I agreed to. We discussed the size, shape, and design in detail. However, when I arrived to pick it up on the day of the party, I was extremely disappointed to find that the cake did not resemble a heart at all. I was shocked that they would present the cake as ‘acceptable’ in that condition. When I raised my concern, I was told the shape couldn’t be clearly defined because it was a smaller 10” cake. If that was the case, it should have been clearly communicated at the time of ordering. not at pickup when it’s too late to make other arrangements. I had also asked for “Happy Birthday” to be written on top with a small Hello Kitty image at the bottom. Instead, they said the text didn’t fit on the top and had to place it around the base, which wasn’t what I envisioned. What frustrated me most was that I paid extra for a heart shape and didn’t receive it. They offered to redo the borders in an hour, but I was already on a tight schedule and far from the party and didn’t have time to wait. I asked for a discount and was only offered $15 off. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to accept it and move on sadly, my daughter was left to take birthday pictures with a deformed/undefined cake. The only saving grace was that the cake and frosting did taste good, but overall, I was very unhappy with the service and how the situation was handled. For future customers, I would advise clear communication and setting realistic expectations, especially when you’re charging extra for a specific custom shape.

Brothers Taco House is a family-owned taqueria in East End that has been serving up delicious breakfast and lunch tacos for about 20 years. The restaurant is known for its homemade tortillas filled with a variety of tasty ingredients such as refried beans, potato, egg, chicharron, lengua, and al pastor. While they also offer quesadillas, fajitas, and tortas, it's their breakfast tacos that steal the show.
Visited this taco place a Sunday morning and it was pretty good. There was a bit lineup but moving quickly. Service was nice and friendly. Breakfast tacos were loaded and very tasty. Solid place to have a quick breakfast with reasonable price.

I see why this place is so popular. Cheap and delicious breakfast tacos. The chorizo was definitely my favorite, but everything we tried was perfect. Generally the clients and staff here speak Spanish, so it's helpful to speak and understand Spanish, but not required! There's a line, but it moves quickly. Parking is a bit tricky, but even with that the experience was smooth.

Great food! Love their breakfast tacos. There is a line in the morning (Saturday around 8:20am) but it moved very quickly. The food look great, you can see them preparing your tacos. They put enough meat, eggs are good fresh. Tacos can with flour tortillas, I think you ask for corn but I didn’t try. The ladies are very nice and welcoming! Bonus points for having a bucket of red and green salsa for us to grab.
Carmen A — Google review
Always a line here but it moves quick. Tacos are loaded with meat and full of flavor. I had the chorizo and egg and the potato and egg and both were great. Fast service and a solid spot if you’re in a rush.
Zechariah A — Google review
About as authentic as it gets. They have an enormous selection of choices available. I got several egg and potato. The line is always out of the door. If people are willing to wait in Houston heat, that should tell you something. I wouldn’t call these my most favorite taco in Houston as I usually go for weirder, more fusion options (think tofu or veggie). But I will definitely keep returning to this spot.
Misty B — Google review
Awesome homemade tortillas, tried the bean & cheese, ground beef with onions, added cilantro, and chicken with grilled yellow and red peppers. The ground beef was so flavorful and fun to eat. Will try the breakfast tacos next. The bean and cheese was okay, add sauce.

now i understand why everyone loves this spot. the breakfast tacos are amazing and the prices are hard to beat. the bacon and egg combo hit the spot, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. most of the staff and customers speak spanish, which adds to the authentic vibe, but you’ll be fine even if you don’t. it gets busy, especially in the morning, but the line moves fast and the service is quick. parking takes a bit of patience, but it’s totally worth it once you take that first bite.

What a treat, the serving line was quick, food was delicious, and the staff was spot on friendly. We were in and out within 10 minutes. There is no drive thru but if there was you'd miss out the big selection of tacos varieties. Their coffee and hot sauces were also very good. We come to the convention center and few times a year, so that means we will return soon!

Great spot to go eat after leaving the bars at 2am. Quick service and the street tacos were bomb and huge portions. Reasonable prices too. Definitely stop here before or after the bars.

I came in late night for a quick bite to go. I ordered a veggie BURRITO and this is what they brought out. The food came out in literally 2-3 minutes I should have checked my bag before leaving but I wasn’t expecting this since I ordered a burrito. The tortilla was big enough for a taco I couldn’t even roll it up. There was maybe 3 pieces of tomato I guess they considered that to be pico. The lady that took my order was nice and because I came in late I tipped 50% of my total.

It’s the kind of place you genuinely enjoy dining at, thanks to the delicious food and the relaxing atmosphere. The service is warm and attentive and portions are generous. You're welcomed with chips and salsa as soon as you're seated, which is a great touch. Even though the restaurant is often quiet, depending on the times you go there, the calm vibe makes it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a good meal.

Staff was really friendly and service was quick. The food was great and big portions. Chips and salsa come with the table and the salsa is very spicy. Drinks are good too with lots of options. The restaurant was very empty so the atmosphere was awkward, but still a great place to eat.

I really enjoyed the place until the waitress tried to charge me twice as much!!!! BE CAREFUL! She thought that I would not see / complain when get brought the check without the detailed items. If you're looking for "Fancy" or "Glitzy"... this ain't your place. However.. If you're looking for a great old school cantina where the owners take interest and pride in their little establishment, where the food is good, atmosphere is relaxing and has a family feel, especially once they get to know you... then this place may just be for you. I have been going here for years at lunch and I consider it one of my regular spots when I just want to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. They have a lot of regular repeat customers, many of which I see when there. The point is... it is definitely worth checking out. Note: Their Salsa definitely has some kick to it, more true to far West Texas and New Mexico, and you get free Iced Tea with the lunch specials.

I absolutely loved this place!! Best Taco Tuesday’s !! I recommend the falafel, chicken Thai and beef supreme! And nothing like a frozen margarita with tajin to end the night!

The fish taco was drowning in sauce. The shrimp and beef tacos were covered in Cole Slaw… you couldn’t see the shrimp. The atmosphere was fine but overall it was a 2 star dud due to the food. Great place to sit outside on a nice night!

I tried the Quesadilla with tofu and kale it's ok rather bland. I would say it should have a dip. When you order it without cheese it's dry. For the appetizer I ordered guacamole. The portion size for guacamole is shareable but it was over salted and could have used some garlic, black pepper, and more lime if there was any in there. The chips however were rocks.. I sent those back and requested bread. And I tried the sweet potato fries. They were good . But they appeared to be the typical kind you can buy frozen at the grocery store.

This little spot is on the corner of Airline and Main, just off the 45. Let me tell you if you're looking for a cool little spot in the area, this is it! They have in and outside seating. Yaaayyy!!! TV's with sports and music. ++ I quite like the vibes myself. This IS what I moved to the Heights for. I walk here, so it's becoming quite the regular spot for me since I like the atmosphere. The bar looks welcoming, although I haven't sat there yet as it's always full. Someone must be doing something right back there. ;) I love taco Tuesday deals and happy hour, and brunch on the weekends, too! Right now, I'm listening to some reggae type island music on the system, eating this new char grilled burger they rolled out last week and it's the bombdigalicious!!! I'm also watching this dad rub his baby's back. The baby is falling into lala land. It's so precious. It's a mixed crowd. Probably people from all over the neighborhood, so it's cool. Visit Fusion Taco, which I always call Taco Fusion. Lol. My bad!!!

AVOID THIS PLACE. There are better places in Norhill/Monti Beach area. Went here to meet friends. The atmosphere is awful. Too loud and a sensory nightmare, plus the menu is way too small to read for those with severe visual impairments, plus the dining room area is too narrow and hard to maneuver when you use a wheelchair. Would never come here again. Wanted to try the food but couldn't see the menu, and it's not available on their website. Edit #1 Asked verbally about items on the menu. Ordered chips and salsa, and the chips were awful. Worst chips I have ever had. The store brand tortilla chips at the grocery store are so much better than this junk. Edit 2: The Manager, who refused to identify himself, and a female staff member in a yellow shirt were very rude, claiming I was rude for speaking out against how awful the restaurant and food were, like they couldn't take criticism of how awful they are. I don't sugarcoat and speak the truth, and they couldn't handle it. The manager offered a refund and quickly rescinded it. He said I was trespassed from the store. He even threatened to call the cops. I left after that. AVOID this place like the plague. The city needs to shut this place down.
John N — Google review
Absolutely delicious! Great taste, great value, great service! Been there multiple times, and especially Tuesday's are great for the prices, but the food has been spectacular every time. Great combination of flavors, good size, and quick and friendly service, so I'm happy to go back every time. As others have mentioned, the music is a little bit on the louder side (not actually loud, but can be harder to have conversations), which is the only reason the atmosphere gets 4 stars. Would definitely recommend for anyone who doesn't just want their taco to be a copy of a Taco Bell one!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fusion Taco is hands down my favorite taco spot — and honestly, one of my favorite spots period! The food is consistently incredible with so much variety, I never get bored. Whether I’m in the mood for something classic or feeling adventurous, Fusion Taco always delivers — and every bite is packed with flavor. Their unique take on tacos keeps things exciting, and the menu has something for everyone. But it’s not just the food — the service is fantastic. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and quick, which makes the whole experience that much better. You can tell they care about their customers and take pride in what they do. And one of the best parts? The other customers! It’s got this great community vibe where everyone’s just enjoying good food and good energy. If you haven’t been to Fusion Taco yet, you are seriously missing out. Five stars every time! 🌮🔥

Love the food here! If you’re looking for a good old fashioned Mexican breakfast then this is the place! I got 4 tacos but quickly realized that it only took one for me to be full. Bacon and egg and Potato and egg were delicious. Also got a Migas plate and it was so yummy! Reminded me of grandmas breakfast. I recommend this place and will be back.

I am a regular at Villa Arcos. Ever since they re-opened some years ago. I order once per week or twice, early in the morning for 7am meetings. So, my orders go from 30-35 tacos every time . Their tacos are really good, they are generous with the sizes so you do get what you pay for. Now, the only issue for me is that no matter how long in advance I place my order, when I arrive to pick up, they aren’t ready yet. If I call the order in, or I place it online… same thing. And the lady who’s always there early before 7am shes always making me faces bc I’m rushing them, she gets so bothered. Well, I’m sorry lady… I have somewhere to be on time. Can’t be late ! I think my weekly orders aren’t good enough for you. I switched from ordering from brothers taco bc theirs are so greasy. But, with a broken heart, I might have to go back to them again. ***My only issue is timing, not the quality of their tacos***

Okay, But Nothing Special - 3 Stars The food here was... fine. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't memorable. I ordered the beef tips, and while they were cooked properly, they were surprisingly bland. Needed a lot more seasoning, in my opinion. Overall, it was an average meal, perfectly acceptable if you're looking for something quick and easy, but don't expect to be wowed.

Love this place! It’s a must try in Houston. I usually get their breakfast tacos which are a classic, but decided to try the carne guisada for the first time. It was flavorful, but could have been a bit more tender. I will however be back because the service is spectacular and I love just sitting outside and enjoying the atmosphere. If you go don’t skip out on getting some take home goodies (desserts).

I enjoy coming to Villa Arcos for the best breakfast tacos!! I was introduced to Villa Arcos by my stepdad & I’m glad I was. I enjoy visiting them for their breakfast tacos, it’s my favorite item from their menu. Their previous menu did have more items to choose from but I’m content with the new menu items available. If anything, I’m glad they reopened as I thought they were permanently closed. They do have vegetarian options for those in need. They have both inside and outside seating. On weekends it can get hectic and you might have to wait but it’s worth the wait. They cook most of their tacos from scratch in a cast iron pan, you literally can hear the stainless steel spatula steering all of the ingredients together, be patient. You pair the tacos with the green and red salsa, I add both, smh but I can’t help it. Sometimes the green salsa is spicier but both salsa’s enhance the flavor of the tacos. They also created a rewards program for their members which you can redeem with them. Give them a try, they’ve been around for decades!!!

I went earlier today and seen nothing but young ppl working there and the food is bland and garbage 🗑️ and they too expensive for some no effort into seasoning and fully cooking the flour tortilla. The Turban Tacos stand out for using Indian-style mango chutney and paratha bread instead of traditional tortillas.
This place has been on my bucket list for a while and yesterday were were in the area and it was close enough to make a visit happen. The food and service was amazing. I enjoyed and devoured the turban burger....a grilled beef patty topped wit' slow roasted braised brisket, muenster cheese, mango slaw and turban sauce. I loved the extra crispy fries. It came wit' fries but the extra crispy costs a dollar more, worth it. My wife enjoyed the ooey gooey chicken melt without the bun....fried chicken smothered in your choice turban or smoky BBQ sauce, they brought her a small container of each, both yummy, we both loved the ooey gooey, this also comes wit' fries. Order at the counter and it's brought to you, they stopped by a few times to see if we were happy, yes we were! We will be back.

Mouth-watering fries and chicken wings. Fries are crispy and golden on the outside, yet fluffy on the inside. The wings are juicy , tender. They were a match made in heaven with the various dipping sauce offered. I love the spicy one. The staff were friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be back for more.

I have only gone three times so far and each time I have got something different. First was their bbq burger then their loaded fries and now I got their spicy chicken pasta. Everything I have eaten has been 10 out of 10!! I haven't been disappointed by the price or the portions. My favorite so far has been the pasta. The chicken is seasoned and coating the pasta as the cheese cools the heat. Absolutely delicious!!

Ordered loaded fries and the beef brisket taco. Received loaded tots instead of fries. Cheap food, it was cheap powder mac n cheese sauce mixed with some nasty flavorless chicken. People add tons of color to food and think customers will be fooled into thinking it's good. Brisket taco was served with a frozen paratha instead of actual tortilla shell. Brisket tasted more like boiled meat instead of brisket lol. The reviews aren't real, don't go here if you want good food.

Twisted Turbin truly lives up to its name—what an incredible experience! The food quality was outstanding, with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked burgers. We tried the **Double Watt Burger** and **Philly Cheesesteak Burger**, and both were juicy, flavorful, and spot-on! The **Texas Chapula Chaat Loaded Fries with Beef** were absolutely to die for—we instantly wished we had ordered two! The **Mexican drinks** were a great touch, adding even more flair to an already amazing meal. The fact that they serve **fully halal zabiha meat** makes this place even better. The owner, a young Pakistani entrepreneur, is doing fantastic work, and I have so much respect for him. As someone who has been in the food business for over 20 years, I truly appreciate the dedication and passion he puts into this restaurant. Highly recommend **Twisted Turbin**—give them a try, and you won’t be disappointed!

Me and my girlfriend were pleasantly suprised by this place. The food is absolutely phenomenal. My girlfriend got the Mac loving burger which is homeade mac n cheese smashed on a burger. Whats not to love about that. Great flavors. The street corn was also really good. We got that as an appetizer. I got the Blazing Chicken Wrap and the Turban Taco. The turban taco was unreal. It bursted with flavor. The blazing chicken wrap in the picture was great! Its a bunch of flavors meshed together into the perfect wrap. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a top tier place to eat. This really surprised us and took us out of our food comfort zone. Nice ppl food absolutely disgusting and don’t look appealing at all. I got the cauliflower tacos and they were one of the worst things I’ve ever had the fried Oreos were good tho..

Hidden Gem definitely worth trying, I came last week ate the Mac Loving Burger and OMG it's delicious. I'm back this week all the way from Kingwood to eat this burger. Come try the food it's delicious!! Food is made to order so if you're starving eat a snack...worth the small wait time!

New American restaurant
Belly of the Beast has made a triumphant return to Old Town Spring, much to the delight of its fans. After closing in 2021, chef-owner Thomas Billie reimagined this beloved eatery in early 2023, offering a fresh take on New American cuisine infused with his Mexican heritage.
Absolutely blown away by our experience at Belly of the Beast in Spring, TX -- this place is a hidden gem that delivers big on flavor, creativity, and warm, attentive service. Completely understand how they got the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. Elizabeth, the owner, came to our table and introduced herself (her husband is the chef). Every recommendation made was spot-on. We started with the ceviche mixto tostadas -- fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat and acidity. Then came the burrata, which was impossibly creamy and paired beautifully with seasonal accompaniments that made each bite feel like spring on a plate. The tuna tostadas were a standout -- melt-in-your-mouth tender tuna with bold, zesty flavors and a crunch that was just perfection. For the main course, we had the grilled Texas redfish, which was expertly cooked and packed with smoky, savory goodness. The portion was generous, and the flavors were simple but elevated in all the right ways with the habanero sauce. The tres leches with passion fruit meringue was airy, luscious, and the tangy passion fruit brought a bright, tropical twist to a classic dessert. Belly of the Beast isn't just a meal -- it's an experience. Thoughtful, soulful, and absolutely worth the trip.

One of the very best restaurants anywhere near Houston, and quite possibly the whole state. As evidenced by the owner/chef's James Beard award as Best Chef - Texas in 2025. Simply outstanding dishes - bright, complex flavors, always in perfect harmony. Think Eagles on Seven Bridges Road, or Girl Named Tom on Wichita Lineman - perfect, effortless harmony. Literally every bite made us smile, or even laugh, and we could not stop remarking on the amazing quality and clever flavor combinations of each and every dish. Don't be fooled by the modest exterior, or the plain interior either. The place was packed with foodies on a Thursday night, most clearly focused as much on the food as each other. We quickly felt the charm of the place is its simplicity- it's all about the food, and anything distracting from that would be a shame. This is just a truly special place, and our new go-to for special occasions.

A friend and I, luckily, got into this place at the last minute. He was able to call and get a last-minute reservation for that day, which come to find out, is actually pretty hard right when you look online and try to book a table (because they are booked up for the next 6 weeks). This place was amazing, small and ntimate, not loud and the attentive service and knowledgeable staff topped off with the absolutely amazing food. I can see why this place is so popular. I would highly recommend trying to book a table and going to try this food. **2nd Visit** Went here again with the same friend for a 2nd rd og Belly of the Beast... amazing! This time we ordered dessert before the food as they had ran out of our first choice from last time (we also had later reservations last time). We also got lucky enough to have the same server as our previous visit. The different menu items were all amazing! The hospitality is top notch, the chefs wife does front of the house, 👌🏼👌🏼! The chef even did a lap around and we got to say hi. Go sooner than later to try this place, and thank me afterwards, lol.

Delightful experience with good food. The was very knowledgeable on menu - recommended a good wine as I’m not into wines. Hats off to the chef for curating unique and delicious meals - everything we got was delicious. Touches such as salmon roe, caviar took many of the dishes to the next level. I’m usually not a fan of fine dining as portion sizes are typically ridiculously small. Though the portions weren’t huge, I think it was the best size to not leave feeling stuffed. Will be coming back soon to try the other options in the menu!

My recent dining experience here was after all the buzz on the chef and I was very excited to try the restaurant. The food itself was good — the flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation of each dish was thoughtfully done. You can tell care goes into the kitchen’s process. The service was also solid, with friendly and attentive staff who checked in regularly without being overbearing. However, the overly casual vibe of the restaurant felt underwhelming for the price point and the effort clearly put into the food. The biggest disappointment was that not a single dish was served hot. From appetizers to mains, everything arrived at room temperature. While the ingredients were fresh and the flavors worked, serving temperature plays a big role in the overall dining experience, and here it just missed the mark. In short, it’s a decent place with good food and nice staff, but the lack of warmth—literally and figuratively—made it a one-time visit for us.

Great experience at Belly of the Beast. Definitely recommend a reservation as it has a small amount of tables giving it a good atmosphere. Great service provided by our waiter. The peach burrata appetizer was really good. Pork chop was very lean and juicy and the glaze was amazing although the corn bread was just average I'd say. The duck 2 ways was good but preferred the side without the mole sauce as the crispy skin was amazing. Luckily saved a bit of room for dessert as the tres leches was awesome. Reasonably priced wine list as well. Definitely want to go back soon to explore more of the menu.

The food was beautiful and creative, the waitstaff was very attentive and polite, so it should have been perfect... and yet there was something I could not put my finger on - the feeling that everyone was still trying to figure things out, the somewhat "memorized" feel of the blurb my server gave me about the chef (which I overheard again as she said the same thing to the next table, especially in contrast with say, how another famous Houston chef's staff speaks casually but with great respect about him), the alternating overeagerness and hesitancy. I think this could be a 5 star experience, but is not quite there yet. I could make excuses as it was the start of what seemed to be a busy night, but great places can and have served much larger crowds well. I hope that a few more months down the road will give everyone enough time to get the full dining experience put together, but frankly I will only come back if I hear consistently great things in the near future.

Absolutely wonderful dinner experience. This little restaurant serves up big flavors. Every dish was the perfect blend of flavors that satisfied all your tastebuds. Great service as well. We will be back.
