Breakfast restaurant
House of Pies is a classic American diner that has been a Houston institution since it opened in 1967. This 24-hour establishment offers a wide range of dishes, including burgers, salads, sandwiches, breakfast items, and their famous homemade pies. Whether you're craving breakfast food in the morning or late-night comfort food like chopped steak and patty melts, House of Pies has got you covered.
Love this place. Been here countless times. Breakfast is always good. Service is attentive and friendly, and the pies of course are absolutely delicious. I enjoy the coconut cream pie and bayou goo, good milkshakes, and large drink glasses and I could go on for days.

$13 for corned beef hash and eggs. Big portiin for lunch! Good deal. Bayou goo is $4.95/slice. Big slice for me. Not too sweet. Food came out abit slow, but tolerate-able. We will visit again
Andy D — Google review
Went during lunch time in the middle of the week. Service was a little slow but it was busy and the waitress did miss a few things that we had to ask for, but she was nice. Some good lunch specials for a good price with good portions. We got the carrot cake, coconut pie and pumpkin pie to go and they are all highly recommended.
Annie P — Google review
It was busy but the service was still good. The waitress was still able to check on us a couple times. My drink never went past half a cup before it was filled again. Very friendly and family friendly environment.
Julia J — Google review
The name says it all! Classic diner style food with breakfast all day and an incredible array of pies. They are all very good, but the lemon meringue is beyond great! Highly recommend!
Patti W — Google review
My favorite location, a reason it’s been around since 1961. You can’t ever go wrong with a good breakfast at House of Pies but my favorite for so long has been the hot grilled chicken salad with the ranch dressing the grilled vegetables give it an amazing taste!
Talia O — Google review
This has a old time diner feeling with delicious food and even better pies. This place doesn't cost a lot but delivers amazing food. I stop at a House of Pies every time I am anywhere near Houston.
Christine K — Google review
The service was once again great (thanks Sadie) the pies were wonderful although the coconut custard was not for me as it was extra heavy on the eggs, I preferred the coconut cream we had last trip, the buttermilk pie had a lot of citrus and I liked it although that's the reason my daughter didn't like it. Looking forward to the next trip.

Local Foods is a popular cafeteria-style spot known for its gourmet sandwiches and salads made with locally sourced ingredients. The menu features items like Duck Confit, House Smoked Salmon, Banh Mi, Spring Harvest Salad, and Asian Chicken Salad.
My first time here on 3/30/25 2:54pm. Cute atmosphere, Alive and a trail of 🍷 bottles as you enter🥰. They have a nice selection of non alcoholic and local brews too, cocktails on the go in the cooler for grabs, are only 22.00. They have grabible cold wine bottles and Moscato for your day drinking pleasure, " Got to love that". Great lighting, good looking staff, because of the lighting you can read the amazing menu offerings here "LOL" I'm 53 so...good lighting is helpful. It's also a very clean and organized operation from what I can see, I like the semi open kitchen concept at this location for presentation accountability. The only thing I had a issue with was how uncomfortable the booth I was sitting was. Hard seating cushion and a high back cushion that feels out of place for a average hight guy I am (5'11") with the coffees and fresh lemonades and teas. To the GF, V, N menu items this place is a high 10. Just like the sign says as you leave the Westiemer street side above the door, "GOOD VIBES ONLY" And you leave your mess at the table the amazing staff will clean up after you. So please tip these guys they work hard to give you the environment you enjoy so much on a daily. I am a real customer out at lunch on break from my own local restaurant and will be back soon. I recommend the HARVEST SALAD and your choice of protein... Rant over ,.......

I love the food here! Last time I dined at Local Foods, I ordered the Chimichurri Steak Torta, and just look at how thick she is! Their sandwiches come with two sides, and I went with the Basil Strawberries and the Tuscan Kale, both were super fresh and flavorful. One thing I always appreciate is their freshly made lemonade. This time I tried the cucumber lemonade, and I absolutely loved it! Edited to add a photo of the crunchy chicken sandwich I had on another visit. It was really good as well!
Angelica L — Google review
Local Foods really impressed me. The place has a clean, chill vibe — perfect spot to grab a good meal and relax. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience easy. I had the crunchy chicken sandwich and it was legit one of the best I’ve had. Super crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. Service was top notch. Everything came out quick and smooth without feeling rushed. If you’re in Houston and want a solid meal in a laid-back spot, this place is a winner. I’ll definitely be back.
Lalli — Google review
This place is so cozy and the atmosphere is very relaxed and chill! Pretty casual but still nice with outside seating. The menu is unique with a variety of healthy foods! Loved it here
Anastasia G — Google review
I had a great experience at this brunch spot, which offers a variety of tasty sandwiches. I went for the steak sandwich option which was nice. Although I didn’t enjoy the cashew queso, the staff handled my feedback professionally and quickly let me pick a different item, which I really appreciated. Overall, it’s a solid place with great service; I’d happily return if I’m in the area, though I wouldn’t go out of my way just for it.
National C — Google review
The food was absolutely delightful! I ordered the Summer Salmon Entrée, and it did not disappoint. The salmon was cooked to perfection just the way I like it, medium rare and the vegetables were perfectly seasoned. But the real surprise? The potatoes. Wow. I’m not usually a potato lover, but these were incredible! The service made the experience even better. The manager, Josh, personally came over to check on our meal, and we shared just how much we enjoyed everything. The menu also has plenty of vegan options, which was a win for my daughter. She ordered the Nashville Not-So-Hot Tofu Sandwich, and I had to sneak a bite and it was delicious too! We’ll definitely be back. Great vibes, fresh ingredients, and flavors that truly shine. 🌱
Montina A — Google review
Very Busy when I arrived. The food came out at a decent time. Parking was hard. I ordered the chili salad, and the salad was good. The chili is just ok. The cucumber lemonade was delicious.
Sasha S — Google review
Reddit suggested this place since I was looking for a vegetarian sandwich and I gotta say I was overall not disappointed. They have a ton of options and everything is very yummy with good serving size too. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered something called "crunchy" chicken sandwich thinking it would be fried chicken but it was not (hence why the word crunchy was in quotes) and I was disappointed although arguably that's completely my fault. Anyways I'd def come back and order other stuff!

El Rey Taqueria, located at 910 Shepherd, offers a unique fusion of Cuban and Mexican cuisine from breakfast through dinner. The restaurant is known for its authentic and affordable dishes, including customizable breakfast tacos, Cuban coffee, tortas (Mexican sandwiches), tacos al pastor, ropa vieja, and Cuban sandwiches. Despite the perception that Cuban delicacies can be pricey, El Rey Taqueria makes them accessible to all.
The roasted chicken and shrimp salad was delicious, with a great combination of flavors and generous portions. However, the dining area is rather small and can become quite crowded, making it more suitable for takeout orders. The service was satisfactory. However, it would be beneficial if the staff had a more comprehensive understanding of the menu items.

Delicious food and so many menu options. I typically get tacos and the power bowl with beef. Taco number 21 is delicious and has plátano crema and beans
C R — Google review
Went in for lunch on a Friday and the wait was honestly really quick, for a busy day. Got the Al Pastor Tacos, Mexican Rice and some Horchata and everything was fresh, and really hot. Highly recommend and will be back! Honestly some of the best Horchata I’ve had around Houston.
Kameron A — Google review
I came only for the Horchata. Sad to say, it doesn't taste as good as it used to. Maybe it's good for the white people around here??? Extra star for the "Large" size actually being large though. Also, they no longer have the Torta Al Pastor. ☹️ Side note: you know this place is legit ethnic food when the damn email is AOL 🤣
Anon Y — Google review
Great spot for tacos and tortas. The new rotisserie chicken garlic torta was great (especially with added fresh jalapenos). The service was fast and friendly. The dining area was clean and the bathrooms were extremely clean which is unusual for restaurants these days. Overall great experience.
Brian G — Google review
This place serves up delicious fresh foods quickly at very reasonable prices. The fresh lemonade is excellent. The Cuban beef fajita taco was outstanding, as were the guacamole, plantains, and the grilled salmon. Brian at the front counter was very hospitable and gave service better than many sit down full service restaurants. I can't wait to go back and try something new there! The flavorful food tastes so fresh and is made to order quickly.
Tom F — Google review
First time at location. Didn't know style. Picked Havana plate. Listing had something I recognized.
Michael W — Google review
Im not sure what has changed but we are very disappointed. Our full size guacamole was spoiled and brown with long onions in it and no chips. The tortas tasted old and not fresh. The soup was good as usual thankfully but everything else was disappointing. We've been coming here for years and love to support this place. We usually come a couple times a month, however the last couple visits the quality has gotten bad, today was the worst we have ever had.

State of Grace is a polished American restaurant in River Oaks, Houston, offering creative Texas dishes, oysters, grilled specialties, and cocktails. The restaurant provides indoor dining with social distancing measures and COVID precautions. Guests can make reservations online or opt for curbside pickup or delivery through DoorDash. The restaurant boasts a comfortable and retro atmosphere with a deep passion for food and aims to create memorable experiences for diners.
State of Grace (5/5) delivered an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. The ambiance is absolutely mesmerizing—elegant and refined with a true state-dinner feel. Service was impeccable throughout, striking the perfect balance between professional and warm. Every dish we had was amazing, thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. While the bread service was a bit delayed, the staff went above and beyond by offering a complimentary dessert as a gesture—and it was absolutely delicious. That kind of attention to detail really sets a place apart
Toronto R — Google review
While in Houston for my daughter's graduation we ate at several different restaurants. State of Grace was my absolute favorite. The fillet was one of the best I've ever eaten. The service was next level and thank you to Trinity and Elizabeth for taking such good care of my family. Your attitudes and attention to detail were amazing and made our visit amazing. Elizabeth, you were right I needed the spoon 🫡 the Texas Ball was incredible. I can't say enough how pleased we were to pick State of Grace to eat at out of all the great restaurants in Houston.

We celebrated my wife's birthday August 19,2025. The hostess was absolutely amazing. She seated us at an amazing table that provided us with a full view of the dining room we were seated in. Our server Cassaundra was very attentive. She explained the wine list, menu and offered us an excellent suggestion on our oyster selection. The blackened Red Fish was to die for. I highly recommend them with 5 Stars in every category.
Cole C — Google review
My fiancée and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner, our server/waiter were awesome! Everything about our dinner experience was amazing, until we were standing by the front door so we could get a couple of sandwich cookies, as we stood waiting, a hostess came over and told us “if no one is in the front desk, and you want a cookie to use a napkin because that’s what they’re there for “. I was appalled that someone would assume we aren’t aware of the proper etiquette when it comes to using a “napkin “!
Rebecca G — Google review
I went out to State of Grace to celebrate my birthday and I can’t say enough good things about the restaurant and experience. I had originally booked the chef tasting but was unable to due to me booking last minute. To make it up to me, the manager personally made sure that I was taken care of and even allowed for me to try some additional dishes that I did not order. My server took her time to explain the menus and give her personal recommendations which I really appreciated since I have never done fine dining before. I got the crab cake beignets, deviled eggs, blacked red fish, and the eggplant. They even treated me to the pecan ice cream dessert. Every single dish hit and I would get them all again. I highly recommend this restaurant and I appreciate that the staff went the extra mile to make my birthday special.
Christian H — Google review
Went there for a business dinner. may be moderate noise. Quite enough to carry sensitive conversations. Drinks are fantastic.. vegetarian choices limited. I went for ravioli which was alright. Very attentive service and polite staff in general. Decor and atmosphere is upscale and suitable for high level business dinners.
Ajit S — Google review
Not we expected as fine dinning will serve deviled eggs and salad menus. And it goes big wide ranges of seafood towers over $100-$200. As pictures described it all, that’s mostly fine foods we ordered 😆
Bee ( — Google review
The atmosphere here is really great. The dining room is cozy, the furniture is very nice and the staff is really amazing. They were very attentive and helpful the entire time. We had dinner and I ordered the Steak Haché and my fiancée had the ravioli. The reason why I’m giving a three star for food is because we were a little underwhelmed with our choices. The ravioli was very sweet and the steak hache was tasty but it left more to be desired (it felt more just like a burger patty). However, upon learning that my fiancée did not like her ravioli, the staff promptly offered to make her a plate of Cacio e Pepe at no extra charge which was great! Maybe it was what we ordered, so don’t let this deter you from trying this place. I still recommend it! We’ll probably go back and try it again some time.

Lankford's Grocery & Market, established in 1937, is a classic American eatery located in Montrose. Originally a market, it transitioned into a diner known for its big, messy burgers that have become a Houston staple. The kitschy space exudes nostalgia and offers traditional desserts and Tex-Mex filtered breakfast platters. The menu also features creamy milkshakes and Peach Cobbler.
Lankford's is a wonderful old school burger restaurant. Inside is nostalgic, no nonsense and that hole in the wall feeling that let's me know I'm in the right place. I was instantly greeted, seated and serviced. My food came out hot and quick. The bacon cheeseburger was fresh, flavorful and flawless. Curly fries and fried green tomatoes were delicious. Everyone was very courteous and I was offered free iced tea to go. Would definitely come back!
Ray B — Google review
A true neighborhood gem. Old school, cooked to order burgers and fries. Small seating area inside and then good amount of covered seating outside. Burgers were well seasoned, juicy, and fresh. Loved the hot, crisp tots and fries with it. Definitely an easy place to come out and relax while eating a good, home made burger
Jen S — Google review
super sweet staff!!! delicious burger. we got fried tomatoes and pickles!!! the fried part was perfect and seasoned so nicely. the lady who helped us out was so wholesome and kind. the inside felt like we weren’t in the middle of Houston! felt very homey and retro in a way. definitely give this place a try its so nice.

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty, satisfying burger in a relaxed and local setting! 🍔 I had the Houston Burger and it was delicious. The patty was juicy and perfectly cooked, the bun was soft, and the toppings were fresh. You can really tell they use quality ingredients and take pride in their food. Regarding the atmosphere it was warm and authentic, with that charming old-school Texan diner vibe that makes the experience even better. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming feel of the place ♥️

We had to stop here because we saw it on Texas Bucket List and Texas Day Tripper. My husband is still on the search for the great hamburger. He was pretty impressed with this stop on our list. He really enjoyed the hamburger and tots. My 11 year old loved the blt. I had the fried green tomatoes and a burger. The fried green tomatoes were amazing. I would say this is a great place to stop and grab a bite to eat. The service was great and the food was good.

Someone was gate keeping this place from me! The brisket burger was awesome along with the fried green tomatoes! Trying to make this my “once a week spot” I will definitely make sure I tip more on my next visit, was kinda confused about if I ordered at the counter or if there was a wait staff! Yessssssssss I will be back and have been telling everyone! Customer service is superb! Thank you all!

I stopped by Lankford’s Grocery & Market last Friday afternoon after seeing a TikTok about their famous Grim Burger—and wow, it did not disappoint! I ordered it to go with a side of fries, and this meal was one for the record books. The burger was massive and packed with flavor; I could only manage half in one sitting but enjoyed every bite (and, of course, finished all the fries!). Tezza, my waitress, was super kind, and every staff member I encountered was just as friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth the visit—I’ll be back to try another one of their classics soon!

A triple D restaurant. Service was awesome and the food was great. Started with fried green tomatoes then shared an order of Rustic Fries. I had the club sandwich and my son had the patty melt.

5 stars isn't enough it deserves 10 stars. The staff is extremely friendly as it was our first time. They answered our questions and gave us their favorites. My husband and I literally tried as much as we could. The flavors are fresh and delicious. The spicy humus is spicy and full of flavors. I could go on and on about the food and flavors. We will be back and so glad we stopped on a whim.

My husband and I were in town from Atlanta and stopped in as first timers. This place is amazing!!! The minute you walk in you’re greeted by smiling staff and an incredible spread of beautiful food. (It’s cafeteria style but think extremely high-end quality!!). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. And because it’s cafeteria style it’s very quick as everything is readily available. We will be back!

So freaking good!! The cauliflower was amazing and the mashed potato ball was very good. The Grilled Veggies were a little crispier than I expected but were good with the hummus dip. The Lamb FILET Kabob Platter was so juicy and tender! Will definitely order again. My son loved the Beef Sirloin Kebab and ate every bite. Everything was packaged so well for delivery.

Wanted Med food, was not disappointed! The service was very friendly and quick. I had an entree plate with saffron chicken as the main dish. It was hot, juicy and fresh. Delicious. The pita bread was piping hot, right out of the oven. The pesto pasta with black olives was also delicious. I also had something I had never seen before: mashed potatoes, fried in a bread crumb crust, with cream cheese in the center! It tasted just like it sounds. Good, not great. The taboulet was OK. Nothing special, a little bland. Needed more lemon juice. The saffron rice was also a little bland and dry, but passable. Overall, I will definitely be back and try some other dishes!

Some of the best Mediterranean food I e had especially in Houston. The lamb meatballs have the perfect level of spicyness! Despite the special options being a little rigid (apparently they won’t allow you to get sides a la carte), the 4 veggie side special or 1 meat 3 side special give you a lot for the money. You won’t leave feeling hungry for sure.

Aladdin’s in Houston is a real find! The Chicken Kabob was amazing—juicy, smoky, and cooked perfectly. The place feels welcoming, and the staff treats you like family. You can taste the authenticity in every bite. A go-to spot for anyone craving great Mediterranean food.

Stooped in early on Tursday evening before the dinner rush. Food was very good. The pitas are fresh baked. Did the choose 3 sides plus protein. Lots of choices for the sides. Nothing fancy - just great food. Tried the roasted cauliflower, caramelized onion hummus, and tabouli for the sides, and chicken kebab, all excellent. The pitas are amazing, hot, light a fluffy! Will have to come back again to try different sides. Bonus star for local place.

Too good and at a fair price. I got the lamb meatballs and I usually never eat meatballs. Absolutely fantastic and service and location are also perfect.

Steamed bun shop
Asian fusion restaurant
Fat Bao is an Asian fusion eatery known for its steamed buns filled with a variety of options, including meat, fish, vegetables, and sweets. While some of their bao creations may not hit the mark, there are definitely standout options like the Crab Daddy and Memphis Bao. The lunch special offers great value with any two bao, a side dish, and a fountain drink for $9.25 on weekdays from 11:00 a.m.
If you love bao, this restaurant is a must-visit! The menu offers a fantastic variety, from classic pork belly and crispy chicken to delicious tofu option. Each one is packed with flavor, with soft, pillowy buns with perfectly complementing fillings. Beyond the baos, there are plenty of appetizers. Our favorite is Avocado chips. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, making it a great spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends. Highly recommend!

Fat Bao is a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat. There is a good variety of menu items, including fish, tofu, beef, chicken, and pork. There are also interesting appetizers like fried avocado, which is my favorite! Service is kind and timely. The facility is clean. The atmosphere is cozy like a coffee shop.

⚠️OINK-O-RAMA⚠️ So much yummy variety of Bao; though closer to an open face version than the dumpling style many are accustomed too; Vivé la Différencē! Saturday evening 10.27 & within an hour of closing I was nicely greeted and quickly served a Fish, the Korean Fried Chicken & the duck Bao. Fish was the stand out, KFC was really good and absent the fish would be my face... the duck was delicious and had no obvious flaws but somehow felt less than the sum of its parts (?), still worth a go if fowl is your thing + very meaty. RECOMMENDED!

I've been coming here for years and it still holds up as one of the best Bao places in Houston! A personal favorite of mine is the Yummy Byrd, which I frequently crave from here- it has a lightly cooked outer coat that slightly crunches when you bite into it, giving way to a soft interior. The description doesn't tell you this, but it is incredibly yummy and one of the only baos here whose exterior is lightly crunchy like this! Most of the rest have the typical soft bao breading (which is still very yummy and very good). My second favorite is the Pork Belly, which tastes like your standard pork belly found in many dishes, with the added bonus of having lightly crunchy cucumbers with it and a yummy hoisin sauce. Other notable flavors for me are Chicken Masala, Beef Bulgogi, and Pork Katsu. With that being said, you truthfully can't go wrong with any of the options as they're all very well-made. The meat on all the different choices is always cooked excellently, from the pork to the chicken to the curry to the fish; I've yet to try the duck though! The fries are very good here, and are extremely crunchy and satisfying to bite into. Don't be fooled by my photo, we had eaten well over half at that point. For 6 baos and fries, we spent almost $50, so do be aware that the price does stack up rather fast here. Luckily, the baos are very filling and most people can fully eat between 2-4 before feeling full. Overall, a very good place and I highly recommend trying at least once!

i got the pork katsu, crab daddy, and yummy byrd (from left to right). i would say my fav one is the yummy byrd! it kinda tasted like chicken alfredo. the other ones were good 7/10. i would def come back to try different kinds!

I recently had an amazing meal here and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I walked in, the service was exceptional, especially thanks to a wonderful staff member named Junior. He was incredibly friendly and honest with his recommendations, which truly enhanced my dining experience. In fact, he's the reason I ended up getting desserts to enjoy later! Speaking of the food, the chicken masala bao was absolutely divine – a definite highlight and my favorite dish. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the bao itself was so soft and fluffy. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try more of their delicious offerings and, of course, to finally dig into those desserts Junior convinced me to get! If you're looking for something new and interesting to try, Fat Bao is the place to go.

Cute little place with lots of flavorful options. They're small, so you'll want 2 or 3. Do beware if you have a Sesame allergy, as my husband's options were limited. Curry Beef was great for us both!

I’ve been coming to Fat Bao since 2016. In the past, the food has always hit just right, and I have always been satisfied. Today, I was disappointed with both the food and the restaurant. I’m not sure when Fat Bao stopped having menus on hand for customers to peruse, but the lack thereof is honestly irritating. Luckily there wasn’t a line today, but it’s still a bit awkward contemplating the menu at the ordering stand (and if there had been a line, we would have held everyone up..). When I asked for a menu to look at while sitting, the (very nice) cashier told me they didn’t have any, but that I could take a picture of the menu or look online. When I asked about wifi, she said Fat Bao didn’t have wifi for guests. As a restaurant, if you’ve decided to switch to online menu only for guests, you need to have a guest wifi. When it comes to the food, I had the pork belly bao and the curry beef bao. The pork belly was strangely dry, but the flavors were decent. The curry beef was pretty good (though still had dryer beef than it used to). We got the thai tea tres leches to finish, and while it wasn’t bad, it didn’t have as much flavor as I expected. Just overall less quality than a few years ago.

New American restaurant
Nancy's Hustle is a modern bistro and wine bar located in Houston, offering a delightful mix of New American and European cuisine. The menu, crafted by Chef Jason Vaughan, features dishes like Turkish dumplings and other delectable options that pair perfectly with their selection of natural wines, ciders, and cocktails. The restaurant provides a cozy neighborhood vibe with its outdoor patio area.
Nancy’s Hustle is a true gem where every item on the menu comes highly recommended. From start to finish, the flavors shine through, but the standout is the Nancy Cake—a must-try for anyone visiting. Another highlight is the butter fish with roe, which pairs beautifully with the delicate bread and delivers a rich yet balanced flavor. The presentation of each dish is beautifully done, with clear attention to detail that elevates the overall dining experience. Every plate not only tastes amazing but looks just as impressive. One small recommendation would be to add more lighting to the patio area. A brighter, well-lit space would not only enhance the customer experience but also make the stunning food presentation stand out even more, especially during evening dining. Overall, Nancy’s Hustle delivers exceptional food, thoughtful presentation, and a memorable experience. Highly recommended!

Nancy’s Hustle was the perfect spot for a group of us women to have dinner after the gym. My favorite area to sit is on their patio. There are plants hanging all around which I love and enjoy to look at. This restaurant does a good job at recommending drinks that pair well with your dish. The Cheeseburger with the English Muffin is delicious! The Duck Dumplings and the Sticky Rice were good. For my drink I ordered The Colder Room and I enjoyed it so much I ordered another one. Our waiter was Noah and he was professional and very Attentive.

This is a place where being different is more important than being good. I used to love Nancy's Hustle, but after returning to this restaurant after quite a few years I had a sub par experience. We reached on time. Despite several two seater tables being open we were led past them by the hostess to a table in the back that was so close to a four seater that had I taken my chair the guy at the four seater table could not have gotten out without me getting up and taking my chair out of his way. We felt so claustrophobic that we refused to take that table. The hostess made a a big fuss about checking and sure enough sat us at an empty two seater near the kitchen counter that we had crossed. I wonder why in many fine dining places the hostess at front counter is the worst experience. Once you get past her it gets better. This place was no different. Our server in comparison was lovely and very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine. The Nancy' cake with whipped butter and smoked trout roe were nice (4/5). The sticky rice was not bad (3/5), but we did not finish it. The halibut was overcooked and served on a sauce of yogurt (3/5). I know of no culture that serves fish with yogurt sauce. Maybe tahin sauce, but yogurt sauce?? The English muffin burger was blah (2/5). Why not serve nice soft pillowy potato bun instead of a crunchy English muffin. We did not finish it. We felt that in its desire to be different the very competent kitchen of this restaurant had forgotten to be good. On my return to Houston after some years, I regretted having made a reservation here for dinner instead of a place I could bank on for better getting a delicious meal (like Mastros, Pappas steak house, or Vic and Anthony's)

A lovely spot for date night! Started the evening with cocktails on the back patio. They were light and refreshing. Enjoyed the pickle platter and Nancy cakes - both delightful. Then split the cheeseburger which was plenty decadent to share. Finished the meal with the savory Parmesan cheesecake. Such a fun surprise and great way to end the meal. Service was great and would absolutely return.

Good vibes, solid food, room to grow into the fine-dining experience they’re aiming for. Nancy’s Hustle has a great atmosphere and clearly puts effort into creating a unique Houston dining experience. The vibe is fun and the food itself is good, you can tell there’s real skill in the kitchen. That said, for the current price point, especially with the ribeye at around $6 per ounce, I expected a bit more refinement in execution and value. The cut was flavorful, but a noticeable portion of it (maybe 3–4 ounces) was just rendered fat and grease, if that’s typical for this preparation, I might be off, but it did make the portion feel smaller than expected. Service was friendly, though our waiter seemed understandably rushed, which gave the impression they might be short-staffed that night. We were seated outside, and unfortunately there was an occasional unpleasant odor that disrupted the otherwise nice evening. Overall, Nancy’s Hustle feels like a good restaurant that wants to be great, the foundation is there, but a few refinements could really elevate the experience to match the prices. I’ll absolutely give it another try down the line and hope to update this review when those details catch up with their ambition.

Nancy's Hustle is amazing every time we visit. The food is so incredible and the flavor combinations are genius. They work so well together and blow my mind. Best restaurant in Houston hands down. Extremely upper echelon food and ingredients in a casual atmosphere and good prices. Staff is super friendly as well (shout out to line cook Clayton for the Nancy Cakes).

Let me start by saying WOW! This place was incredible, honestly. If you're looking to try a little bit of everything, I recommend sharing. The highlight was Nancy's cakes; the combination of flavors was magical! We had to order another one because it was so delicious. We also tried some fries with a great sauce, the shrimp were okay, the salad and the asparagus were good, and the steak with the sticky rice was AMAZING!! I also suggest mixing desserts since the portions are small. We combined ice cream with a cookie from the menu, and it was a perfect ending to our meal. The drinks were really good too. I would definitely recommend this place, and I can't wait to be back. Incredible service, and the vibes inside are really magnificent.

Restaurant
Nobie's is a cozy spot located in a restored Craftsman bungalow on Colquitt Street, offering New American cuisine and craft cocktails. Run by the husband-and-wife team of Chef Martin and Sara Stayer, the restaurant exudes a house party vibe with vinyl spinning during service. The menu features cleverly named dishes like "Aww Shucks Oysters" and "Come Quail Away," along with an extensive wine and spirits list.
Unique flavors that offer a twist on American classics. I got a fish hash with the most perfectly poached egg on top with caviar in the sauce and a clam pasta dish with sun dried tomatoes. Both were yummy but my favorite was the pasta! The outdoor patio was very nice on beautiful day. Service is excellent and friendly. Great place to come for brunch with the girls or a celebration lunch!
Heidi — Google review
Nobie's is exactly the kind of place my wife and I have been looking for in Houston! I made a date night reservation here on a friend's recommendation. I was a little sad that the only reservations they had open around 7 were outside, but I went with it. Upon arrival, they offered us a table in the bar area and we gladly took it! Our waiter was attentive and gave us some great insight into the menu and had great recommendations. We decided on a couple of their cocktails and both were very tasty. We ordered the dilly bread and we both ordered different pasta dishes so our server recommended we have the dilly bread with the meal rather than an appetizer and I'm glad we did, because it complemented the dishes very well! They offer pies every night but they change every day, so we opted for the menu staple of the olive oil cake since this was our first (but certainly won't be the last) visit. Very light, most, and with a slight lemon flavor - very good way to cap off a delicious meal! The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic. We were sat right beneath a speaker so it was a little loud, but their website does provide a warning that they like it dark and loud. I will say that it wasn't loud enough to put a damper on the evening, though. Overall, 5 out of 5 and we'll certainly be back again!

We were hosting a family member in town. They requested a nice dinner and Nobie’s was the first place that came to mind! The vinyl records were a bonus for our music loving guest. We had great service and could take our time deciding what to order next. The chickpeas were great for snacking, loved the dilly bread to settle our appetites, we ordered the bolognese twice it was so good, and the pies are out of this world. Thursday night was easy to get a reservation for inside one week out. We recommend taking a Lyft as parking is extremely limited.

This is a cozy place not big with a full experience in music and food. The menu changes often so just check every day and experience the new food and enjoy the music. The stuff is very nice and kind and the food is local and well done and presented. We really enjoy any plates from appetizers to the giant full chicken. They are all delicious and tasty. Strongly recommend to visit this place. The music sometimes can be loud but not enough to have a nice conversation.

In Houston for my daughter’s birthday weekend and had the pleasure to try Nobie’s. We ate on the patio and there’s was enough shade and slight breeze to keep us comfortable while we had a fabulous meal! I consider myself hard to impress and we were blown away. Every single dish was delicious. The Texas tartare was some of the best I’ve ever had. The service was beyond exceptional. A must try if you’re in the Houston area.

Loved this place! The food was fresh and full of flavor, and everything came out just right. The vibe was warm and fun — great music, nice lighting, and a good energy all around. The service was spot-on too — friendly, fast, and made us feel really taken care of. Definitely one of those places you leave already planning your next visit.

Absolutely loved this place! Came here for our anniversary and it outshined my expectations. Try the dilly bread with trout roe, just decadent. Then we ordered the tater tots with goat cheese and our minds were blown. Crazy combo of flavors that just works amazingly. We came during happy hour and the old fashioned was on point. Didn't skimp on the bourbon. To end the night, I had the olive oil cake and just a cloud of flavorful silky goodness. My wife had the double chocolate pie and needless to say she was absolutely happy. Brandy was our waitress and she was so sweet and informative. As a surprise, they brought us two flats of champagne for our anniversary. It's the little things that are a big deal for me. Thank you for making our anniversary a memorable one.

Nobie’s is a cute and cozy restaurant with a warm, welcoming vibe. The service was absolutely top-notch—our server was super attentive and even helped suggest some vegetarian options, which I really appreciated. While the vegetarian choices were limited, what I did try was quite good. The dill bread was soft, warm, and paired beautifully with their house-made spiced butter. I also tried the beer-battered sweet tots, which were delicious and came with goat cheese. The sauce wasn’t quite to my taste (I’m not a big goat cheese fan), but overall, it was a solid dish. For dessert, the olive oil cake slice stood out—it was soft with a lovely lemony flavor, though the crystallized sugar on top made it a bit too sweet for me. I also tried the chocolate chocolate pie with an Oreo crust and whipped cream, which was rich and decadent—again, just a bit sweeter than I prefer. Now for the downside: the board they served the dill bread on was filthy and clearly worn out. The butter was placed directly on this board, and that honestly ruined the experience for me. It was pretty off-putting, and I’m taking off two stars just for that. I really hope the restaurant takes cleanliness more seriously, especially when serving food directly on a surface. Overall, great vibes and amazing service, but they seriously need to improve on the presentation and cleanliness of their serveware.

Restaurant
Frenchy's Chicken is a fast-food chain that has achieved cult status in Houston since its establishment in 1969. With nine locations across the city, it offers classic Creole dishes such as fried chicken, gumbo, and jambalaya. The original Frenchy's on Scott St. is particularly renowned for its cayenne-spiked fried chicken, which many argue is the best in town. Founded by Percy Frenchy Creuzot Jr.
I've been wanting to try Frenchy's for some time. I finally made the trip to Scott from the east side. Fantastic! My #2 chicken behind Loveless Cafe, Nashville Tennessee. Food was fantastic. Employees were very friendly. Addicted at first bite.
Derrick B — Google review
Something happened to Frenchy’s, it’s just not what it used to be. The chicken reminded me of the chicken you get at Kroger or grocery stores with hot food, and the wings were objectively small. The fish was good, but that’s about it. The “fast lane” doesn’t have the whole menu on it. We wanted fish and boudin egg rolls, but had to get back in line once we realized it just wasn’t on the kiosk. Tables were sticky too, not because of food, it was like the finish or something. Just go to Gus’ or Timmy chans for chicken. Yes, Timmy chans.

We ate here for lunch , I love the building and outside area. We got the king plate, the chicken had alot of fat, every bite was crunchy but had jiggling fat inside. No hot sauce, so I spend .50 cents on a jalapeño . There is no napkins outside the counter. You get 1 ketchup packet and a wipe inside the bag. The people behind the counter were nice and all had something to do.

A gd H town institution. Frenchys used to not look like this but the flavor is still there. If you went to UH you were blessed with some of the best fried chicken around. It’s a beautiful thing to see how it looked like v the new location now. Now I’m aware this isn’t exactly a new location per se BUT I hadn’t been to Frenchys since Obamas 2nd term, just never worked out I dunno. Bae also went to UH so we decided on stopping by after the football game and let traffic die down. Chicken Tenders 8/10 - they do fried chicken right. Flavor might be an 8.4 but there was this weird end that was drier than the Sahara. That taste lingered. Red Beans and Rice 7.5/10 - too runny and not enough rice. It needs to be soupy but with some something ya know? Bae got the wings combo and loved it. I mean it’s Frenchys, even when it’s bad it’s good. Follow me on IG Eats_By_Puig

Two catfish and three shrimp combo is off the chain definitely recommend! Perfectly fried crispy the catfish melts in your mouth and the shrimp are perfectly cooked hit every time. It comes with tartar sauce which is very buttery and melts perfectly into the fried catfish and shrimp. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming and is family Friendly with a touch of sassy not far off from Louisiana. If you looking for some authentic Louisiana affordable pricing and good portions definitely the spot to come. You'll be full and satisfied but always wanna come back for another taste. Food is so good even after eating it The taste lingers in ya mouth absolutely delicious and the staff are God-fearing people most importantly ! The line be out on the street so make sure you get there at a good time because it is very packed and popular. People come all over the city to eat here but definitely is worth the wait.

I had a lot of expectations. The chicken was nice, but no the chicken tenders. The place was crowded (I assume because of the Beyonce concert), orders took a long time. The place was not really clean, they drag the trash right next to the people eating. I wouldn’t come back again.

Y'all, this chicken was amazing. I ate the first order, then went back and ordered some to take with me. The chicken is seasoned to the bone. I had red beans and rice with the first order. Street to Kitchen is a casual restaurant located in the East End, offering traditional Thai street food. Chef Benchawan Jabthong Painter's journey from opening a small drive-thru takeaway during the pandemic to winning a James Beard Award for Best Chef Texas has been remarkable. The restaurant, now in its larger location, continues to impress with its dynamic and well-balanced dishes that pack a flavorful punch.
Always a pleasant time coming to eat here. Food is always good. Service is always great. I love it. Spice levels are on point. So be careful if you can handle that spice. Try to make a reservation in advance if you can usually pretty easy to do and do NOT skip on mango sticky rice.

We were really excited to try this restaurant, and it usually gets packed over the weekends. However, we managed to get a spot at the bar and the good thing was at the bar has full Services. We ordered a cocktails, which were great, and as far as the food was concerned, despite the fact that we requested mild to medium spice. It was crazy because our food was really really spicy, and this is coming from somebody who can handle spice. It felt like our food had way too much pepper, or something got lost in translation, and they thought that we wanted a lot more spice than what we had intended for our meal. Anyway, given the busyness at the restaurant, and how late we were and getting our food to begin with. We just kind of stuck with it. Overall, it’s cute. Little spot. Maybe we will give it a shot another time, but for now I’m taking a break from it.

The food at Street to Kitchen was delicious — everything we tried was packed with flavor and really well done. The serving sizes, though, felt a bit on the small side. We ordered six dishes and one small plate for four people, and it still felt like we could have used a bit more food to feel full. I miss the charm of the old gas station spot, but I’m glad the new location can accommodate more people. Overall, still a yummy and memorable meal!

The place is a little dark for me but I have an eye disease that makes everything darker or lighter than to other people. The food is incredible. We had the chive pancake and fish appetizer. I def recommend the chive pancake it was different and very tasty. For entrees we had Thai basil fried rice, pad thai, and Krakow beef. All were very delclicious and warning they are for real about their spice. But it tastes so good that you can't stop eating at least this describes the fried rice dish. We got the mango sticky rice dessert and that was also some of the best mango sticky rice I've ever had. The mango was fresh and rice warm and tasted like it was just freshly made.
Annie P — Google review
I have been a fan of Chef G since her Urban Harvest days. In fact, on a recent visit she blessed me with a Thai omelette since I always ask when I can get one. What a wonderful surprise. We also had the drunken noodles which she manages to perfect the level of chewiness of the noodle with the crisp caramelization on the outside. Maybe my all-time favorite dish is the green curry with chicken, which I always try to save some to take home to have the next day. Last, we had the mango sticky rice which we were told has three kinds of coconut milk. Yeah, all I know is that it had the most perfect mango I have ever eaten, and, being a mid-59s Asian guy, I’ve eaten a lot of mangoes. Our server informed us that there is some secret way of ripening the mango. Whatever it is, Chef G produces a mango that is sweet, not stringy, and firm enough to hold shape but soft enough that a gentle pressing of it between your tongue and the roof of your mouth produces and explosion on mangoey goodness. If there was one restaurant that I had to eat at for a year, this would be it.

I’ve been a regular at this restaurant since they were doing takeaway out of a little place in the Heights during Covid, so I have no excuse for not having written a review before now. Chef B is a genius, and her husband Graham keeps the front of house running smoothly and shows genuine care and concern for every person who walks through the door. The food is so so good, from her traditional Thai to her Thai-inspired riffs on Texas steak. I always leave uncomfortably full. 😂 Also, their bar program run by Graham and bartender Thomas is phenomenal. They have a great selection of small production wines, including lots of natty options, that pair perfectly with Chef’s spicy flavors. And their cocktail menu is perfection. The photos are from my most recent dinner there, where we had 3 items off the seasonal menu—the khao soi (beef curry), poached shrimp and watermelon (to absolutely die for) and one of my personal favorites, the crispy prawns, which you can just eat whole. I also have to give a shout out to Chef’s massaman curry, off their “always” menu, which I literally survived off of when I had COVID in early 2021. It was the only thing that felt good to eat for days. ❤️

I’ve been to The Breakfast Klub in twice now, and both times I’ve lucked out with easy parking and no wait (which feels like a slight miracle here!). The place is lively, the portions are huge, and the service is super fast and efficient. They had live music as well. On my first visit, the hostess, who was so kind and sweet, noticed I didn’t order the chicken wings and surprised me with one for free. That small act of kindness stuck with me...so on my second visit I just had to try the famous chicken & waffles. The wings did not disappoint: crispy, flavorful, and even better than I remembered. The waffle itself was a little dense (not my personal favorite style), but overall the dish was still a delight. I also grabbed an Eggs Benedict to go for the next morning, and it was excellent as well. The staff here are consistently friendly, the energy is upbeat, and even if there’s a line, you can tell they keep things moving smoothly. All in all, this is a Houston classic for a reason. I’ll keep coming back every time I’m in town.

The parking can be in two lots, one at the establishment and the another is a minute walk away. The breakfast klub is known for their wings and waffles and you know we were not missing the opportunity to try them out! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.. great music and good vibes as soon as me and my partner walked in. I ordered the 3 egg veggie omelet with a biscuit and potatoes and my partner ordered the wings and waffles. Let me tell yall, you will not be disappointed if yall order the wings and waffles (or anything here for that matter ) at the breakfast klub. Literally the best spiced and seasoned chicken I have tasted in a LONG time. Delicate crunch and hot fresh chicken wings. Waffle was soft, fluffy, and yummy. The omelet literally made to perfection! Filled with cheddar cheese on the inside and lots of red and green bell peppers, and other veggies, this omelette was massive. Potatoes seasoned with pepper and more green and red bell peppers were amazing as well. Biscuit was soft and had the perfect balance, semi crisp but still pillowy soft. Portion sizes are generous! Highly recommend this establishment!! They serve breakfast and lunch! Early bird gets the worm!! Don’t miss out!! (In Houston, Texas)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Breakfast Klub in Houston is a true gem! The food came out hot and full of flavor — Southern hospitality at its finest. The chicken was hands down the best I’ve had in a long time — perfectly seasoned and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The pancakes tasted homemade, like they were made from scratch with love, and the French toast had just the right amount of crisp while still being soft and fluffy. On top of that, the customer service was outstanding — fast, friendly, and incredibly attentive. Everyone made me feel so welcome, like I was part of the family. Delicious food, warm people, and a great atmosphere — I’ll definitely be back!

I love this place down and been going here + referring people since 2022 but things have changed and I’m disappointed. 1. We started doing take out because it was just easier and more convenient — takeout orders will always take more than an hour to be ready to pick up no matter what the day is & I was told that I was supposed to get a call to confirm my order upon placing it online but never did so they didn’t start on it. Only reason why they started on it was because I ended up calling them to adjust my order, and when I told them I never received the call I was told “I don’t know ma’am.” It was fine because it still would’ve been ready by my original take out time but upon arrival, I was told that they no longer take tap to pay, even though they used to. Given, their reasoning behind it is valid because of the amount of disputes people started doing but please start communicating this to people when you’re supposed to call them to confirm their orders. 2. Paying extra for adjustments on your order (e.g all flats on your chicken, add extra biscuit, etc) are an additional up charge so please follow through with them because they are NOT free, I never had an issue prior so I don’t really check my food before leaving when it comes to take outs. The customer service and the food is great when we go in person but a more organized system is definitely needed for take outs.

This was the very first spot we visited after arriving in Houston and checking in to our hotel. I knew The Breakfast Klub would be amazing when I saw the long line to get inside. Luckily, another part of the restaurant had opened up and we were seated quickly. Let me say that the two restaurant staff persons I interacted with were both amazing and gave us exceptional service. I ordered a turkey platter with grits, egg whites and Texas wheat toast. If you take all of the times I ever ate breakfast around the world, this platter was definitely among the top 3. The Texas wheat toast was definitely the best tasting piece of toast I ever had in my life. My amazing breakfast here at Breakfast Klub definitely set a the tone for an amazing Houston trip. If I could give this place a hundred stars, I would do it. All in all, the Breakfast Klub more than lived up to its hype.

The food was insane and just pure comfort. The service was hospitable and warm, checking in on us and managing our wait time well. Everything we hoped and more, actually, and quite worth the drive and wait. Can’t wait to go back!

If you EVER GO TO HOUSTON! STOP AT THIS SPOT! Food is soooooo good! Service is so great! Atmosphere is amazing! I wish I had more room in my stomach because I could have ate it all! Friendly service! Management is great! Free hugs at the door when leaving. I was skeptical about the outside but the inside felt like home! Food seasoned to the T! Never ate grits that I didn't have to add a million condiments to make taste good!! I didn't need anything! Will be back! Probably tomorrow I can't lie! I will definitely check out their other locations!

This is a good breakfast spot in midtown. Line is long, but if you love brunch it is worth it. I thought food was another level, it was good. Once you get to make your food order at the main entrance and take a seat, the food will come really fast

Uchi Houston is an upscale Japanese restaurant known for its innovative sushi and fusion dishes. Founded by award-winning chef Tyson Cole, this Austin import has become a popular dining spot in Houston. The menu features high-quality, well-prepared fish with a mix of staple and seasonal items. While it's not just a sushi destination, the outside-the-box preparations of sushi and Japanese plates make it stand out.
Very pleasantly surprised! Been wanting to come here for a very long time. It’s best to split family style. Everything was super fresh and tasty. I’m not sure what my favorite dish was, but it was all phenomenal! Service was great too. Would easily come back. Great place for special occasions! Best sushi in Houston! Can’t go wrong with anything you get here.

I’m from Canada and this was my first time at Uchi Houston. Honestly, it blew me away. I did the curated omakase and every single dish was not only beautiful but absolutely delicious. I sat at the sushi bar and it was such a cool experience watching the chef work and being able to chat with him as he prepared each course. It made the whole meal feel really personal and engaging. The service was fantastic. Super friendly and welcoming. They knew it was my first time and treated me with a lot of care and warmth. From the crudo to the edamame to the nigiri, everything was incredibly fresh and perfectly balanced. If you're thinking of going, do it. It’s more than just a meal. It’s an experience. Easily one of the best sushi dinners I've ever had.

Finally I was able to visit uchi in Houston and was very excited. I sat at the shusi bar and really enjoyed watching all the sushi being made with such precision. The service here is spectacular and made our experience great. We came during happy hour and were able to try their happy hour 9 course tasting menu which was very good and fresh.. On top of that we order a couple of other things off the happy hour menu to satisfy us. I will come back as they have a good drink special and their lychee Martini was really good but no old fashioned on their happy hour menu. I think the only downside was maybe our expectations were too high but everything was good. We just left a little unsatisfied especially for the price. I can see our bill being doubled if we come outside of happy hour which I wouldn't be inclined to come back to. Overall it is very good with high quality ingredients what amazing service just turned away by the price point. Great for special occasions!

Super cool spot! I have never really cared for sushi or raw fish before but my daughter loves it and wanted to spend her birthday here. The service was impeccable and every single server that came by to bring something or pick something up said happy birthday to her. I tried everything they ordered and it was surprisingly amazing! Try everything! Get suggestions from the wait staff. The variety of dishes, the quality and freshness of this food allows for you to be adventurous. The flavor combinations are absolutely chef-inspired and amazing! Everything here is small plates and shareable so it's a great place to try lots of wonderful dishes. Lovely place, amazing service! The food options are huge and everything is delicious and visually appealing. DO NOT SKIP DESSERT! I'm not sure if reservations are required but I would highly suggest making a reservation, especially if you have a larger group.

If one word could describe the place, it's Finesse. The service is impeccable. The ambiance is cozy. You can see the kitchen working in perfect harmony, quietly. Me and my wife loved every moment, every bite. I love the fact that they serve halal wagyu.will definitely be back.

Had a great meal at Uchi! For the most part everything was amazing, I would say some of the items like the walu walu was a bit too salty as well as the chicken karage. But still so delicious and tasty!!!

Uchi Houston is truly a standout in the city’s dining scene. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between upscale and inviting. The service is top-tier—attentive, knowledgeable, and never overbearing. Every dish we tried was a work of art. Uchi’s take on traditional Japanese flavors with a modern twist is both creative and consistently delicious. Uchi is a place where you celebrate something special or just treat yourself to an extraordinary meal. Highly recommended for food lovers who appreciate attention to detail and bold, balanced flavors.

The Original Ninfa's on Navigation is a legendary Tex-Mex restaurant in Houston, offering a casual dining experience with covered outdoor seating. The menu features delicious fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas, along with classic Ninfaritas and margaritas with unique twists. You can also enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the East End Esplanade across the street during farmers markets.
Another fantástico meal at the Houston landmark was had. Kudos to Melisaa, our server. She ensured our party was happy while tending to other larger tables. The whole experience from entrance to exit was true hospitality. My discerning Chicago, Mexican friend (read hard to satisfy) enjoyed his meal and appetizers so much that he actually complemented it and all involved. The kids loved their meals. Only drawback is, it is loud, especially on weekends. Valet is easy, free and they work for tips. Definitely recommend for locals and visitors alike.

Delicious Mexican food, fresh and flavorful-- we had enchiladas (chicken mole and seafood), rice, and charro beans, all excellent. I wish the salsa was spicier, but that's a personal preference-- the flavor was very good. We were too full for dessert, so I guess we'll have to go back! The portions were generous, but the price point is a little on the high side for us. That's not a complaint, really, more of a heads up. Service was fabulous. All in all, a wonderful meal!

Highly recommend restaurant and the staff Jennifer was a really warm and nice host that not only recommend us good food but also the historic story of the restaurant. We order the Del Mar Enchiladas and Fajitas of beef and chicken. Del Mar had a rich flavor of Shrimp, crab and the sauce was really great - though little pricy. Fajita was a classic one and recommend the fried roasted bean with cheese and the green rice - with a great texture! We only have two people and the amount are big for us😆 but the dinner experience was really great!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND! When we entered the front staffed just starred, did not even say hello. My Dr.Pepper was extremely flat it tasted like water. I had to ask the server to come over several times for things I needed. He only checked up on me 2 times. No physical kids menu, they just tell you and they don’t tell the price. The kids chicken tenders is 2 pieces of chicken and 3 potato wedges. My son did not like the flavor of the chicken and he is not a picky eater. My Texas combo was not good. The steak, rice and taco were lacking flavor. The taco was greasy. The enchilada was the only thing I enjoyed. For my family of 5 I ended up paying $106. I spend less at Olive Garden. The price is not worth the food. Do Not Go Here!

This place is a Houston institution known for the home of fajitas. I have been here a few times of the years. It seems to fall in quality each time. I had a solo mid week lunch. This place always has a good size crowd. It’s very lively and feels like a great TexMex spot. I was seated immediately and the waiter came quickly to take my drink order and provide chips and salsa. I ordered the skirt steak fajitas. It would be the last time I saw my waiter until I was as finished. The chips are solid. The salsas are ok. The green doesn’t have much flavor. Red was a little better but no heat. Fajitas came out with all the fixings plus beans and rices. The meat was slightly overcooked for my taste but still doable. The flavor was the real problem. It simply lacked seasoning. The tortillas were very good when they were warm. Once they cooled down they became very rigid and my last one broke apart while I was as finishing my fajitas. The kicker is the fajitas are average but they cost $45. That’s not going to cut it. Sadly, I won’t be making anymore stops at Ninfa’s. Luckily, Houston is full of great other options.

I booked a table at The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation while I was in Buenos Aires, as I was only staying in Houston for one night. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. However, I found the prices to be a bit high for the overall experience.

I loved the atmosphere, very calm great for a family outing or Saturday out with friends. I ordered the Fajita Mix for a group of 4 , it had Chicharrones, Fajita, Shrimp and Sausage, it came with 2 sides or Rice and 2 sides or Beans. Food 8/10 the ribs were a bit chewy and the Guac had no flavor otherwise everything else was good
Angie — Google review
Our service asked how we wanted the beef fajitas and I told him to make it however the chef recommends. And it was perfect! Beef fajitas had a lot of flavor and it was tender. The chicken fajitas were delicious as well. Chips and queso tasted good too. Frozen Margaritas and Margaritas on the rocks were good. Not sour tasting at all.

Niko Niko's is a popular Greek restaurant with multiple locations in Houston, including Montrose, Market Square in Downtown, and Spring Branch. It's known for its hearty portions of classic Mediterranean dishes served in a casual setting that appeals to both adults and kids. The restaurant offers a partnership discount with the Children's Museum of Houston.
It had been years since I visited. A friend of mine was not sure if she had been there. The employees are very friendly and courteous. I was ready to taste the wonderful food. She on the other hand has a sweet tooth. We talked for hours without interruption. We felt at ease enjoying our snack. The baklava cheese cake is like people say " It's to die for". Her first time tasting the baklava, I loved it. It's one of my reasons for choosing to dine there. We will definitely be coming back in order to try other delicacies.

Wow what an experience! Just entering the place and feel all the good vibes. It’s a counter order, pick up and bring back to your table type of place. Everything we ate was fresh and tasty. The portions are generous. Every person we encountered was so friendly. Free easy parking and clean bathroom. I will definitely return!!!!! I have two picky items that I must mention. 1) kitchen staff should NOT go into the bathroom With apron on -ewwww🤮 2) the tzatziki sauce was bland- but the garlic aioli made up for it

I visited Houston from Seattle last month for 3 days. I went for breakfest on day two to this lovely place. The cocktails were phenomenal. The potato hash was next level. The chicken and waffles were elevated and really tasty. The country fried steak was BOMB. The waitresses were REALLY NICE and gave us good recommendations for the rest of our trip. The outdoor tables were quite sticky but that could be attributed to the climate which I am not accustomed too. When in Houston next I will definitely be coming back here!

I really was looking forward to this after being recommended. Our server Kassy was awesome from start to finish. The food and pricing fell apart. First the Hot Chicken Sandwich was seasoned with way too much cumin and that was not good. Second I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and the taste was good however the 4oz portion size was unacceptable for the price of $29. They changed me for a 44 Farms chicken fried steak. Side of extra gravy was .50 which I had no problem paying. We also had a Croissant French Toast with Wings. Wings were a bit small. Overall my experience was less than favorable.

Pizza restaurant
Frank's Pizza in Downtown Houston is a legendary spot known for its giant, foldable New York-style thin crust pizza slices available late into the night. The tiny counter-service restaurant is a favorite among locals and weekend bar-goers, offering classic options like pepperoni and mushroom as well as unique creations such as the house special boudin and bacon or the south-of-the-border Chicken Fiesta pizza. In addition to pizza, they also serve sandwiches, subs, wings, and salads.
what can i say, the 'za was good! came in with my aunt, and we were greeted by an employee. took our orders quickly and correctly. the pizzas are displayed in a sort of 'pizza buffet', with a glass separating us... and the pizza. we both ordered 2 slices (for each of us) of the "everything on it" pizza... (the name eludes me at the moment, sorry!) and we ordered jarritos brand soda. the employee who opened them for us might've been a trainee, because when he opened it, the bottlecap flew onto the counter. but he opened it, and that's what matters. paper plates. you grab your own napkins, pepper flakes, straws, toothpicks, etc. you seat yourself, and there are several options. a table, the wall, and looking out onto the sidewalk. the seats near the front door are all tall, so watch out. we chose a table near the door, so the chairs were high. so if you're short, or can't get up easily... maybe bring a ladder? (jokes aside, maybe ask for help... seriously.) the ones farther back are all regular chairs and tables. the t.v was playing family guy, and i watched as a couple sat by the window talking. the atmosphere was nice, and the vibes were quite homely! the pizza slice was pretty big, so that was cool. big 'ol fat slice, too. tip: ask for another plate if you're ordering 2, it might not be enough for just one! fresh flavor, didn't taste stale. not hot-out-the-oven - probably because it was already pretty late when we got there - but hot enough! (this doesn’t have anything specific to do with the restaurant, but i got complimented on my shirt here!) overall, great place! selfishly, i wish the employees were a bit nicer, but maybe that's just the old lady in me. it had an old style vibe to it, and i loved it. despite being so close to downtown, it was a calm environment, and the people were pretty chill!

We came here around 2 in the morning on Sunday. The line was wrapped down the street. But I will say, this place is satisfying if you've been out drinking all night and need something to nosh on before heading back home. That seemed to be the case when my friend and I went.

Dare I say it... Best pizza in the Houston area? It's probably at least the closest most authentic version of a New York slice anywhere in the area. Barbecue restaurant
Pinkerton's Barbecue is a family-run Texas-style barbecue joint known for its mouthwatering brisket, ribs, and homemade sides. The rustic decor and classic setting create a cozy atmosphere where guests can enjoy the delicious dishes. Owner and pitmaster Grant Pinkerton infuses family recipes into the menu, adding a personal touch to each dish. The interior walls are adorned with family photos and barbecue competition awards, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to tradition and excellence.
OH MY GOODNESS! Pinkerton’s is a true Texas BBQ experience. The brisket literally melts in your mouth, the beef ribs are gargantuan, and the glazed chicken is juicy and full of flavor. The sauces enhance the smokehouse magic without overpowering it. The sides hold their own too, that bacon mac-n-cheese is a must-order (I’d come back for that alone). The portions are generous, the atmosphere is rustic and lively, and the staff keeps the line moving even when it’s packed. Yes, your wallet will be lighter and your belt a little tighter, but every bite is worth it. Pinkerton’s easily ranks among the best BBQ I’ve had anywhere.
Devon L — Google review
I was in town briefly and wanted to get some Texas BBQ more than anything else. It would've felt like a failure to visit Houston without getting BBQ. Pinkerton's had great reviews and was close to my hotel. I was a bit confused walking in to the restaurant and had to be guided to where and how to order. You order by weight, which feels deceptively confusing. 1/4 lb of pork ribs was ONE rib. They were delicious, and fell off the bone. The slice of brisket I got was well seasoned, but drier than I would've preferred. The recommended bacon mac & cheese was creamy and delicious, as was the Texas BBQ beans. Overall, I was a little disappointed with the experience. For a $50 dinner, I was still hungry when I left. The food was fine, but nothing mind-blowing. I think it was made worse because I had to Uber there and back, making the night close to $100 (not the fault of the restaurant).

Impressive BBQ. Chicken thighs were the best BBQ chicken I’ve had. Pork ribs very good. The sandwich (pulled pork) was too bread-heavy, and dry. For sides, the jambalaya is incredible! My favorite thing we tried. Cheesy rice was bland, Mac and cheese average. Long wait, line moves slowly, but not so bad. Certainly worth it now and then!
Justin G — Google review
I am by no means a texas bbq expert, so my review is probably moot. We waited maybe 15/20 minutes and got seated comfortably inside with the blistering A/C. We got the pork ribs, brisket, sausage and boudin. The brisket is probably the best of these choices. The sausage is kinda ok, but seemed tough and quite average in flavour. We also had the Boudin, unlike any boudin i’ve ever had, strange rice filled spicy oddity. Pork ribs where nice. All in all, not the explosion of flavour I was hoping for.

Amazing Texas BBQ! The brisket was tender and juicy, not dry at all. Pork ribs fell right off the bone, beef rib was huge and flavorful, and the jalapeño cheese sausage was excellent. Sides were okay, but the meat was the real star. 2 people ate 100 for that much in my picture.

My family and I have visited Houston so many times, but we've never been to this restaurant. We visited our first day in Houston and we loved it! The Mac n cheese is sooooooo good. The jalapeno with cheese sausage is good too, but has too much spicy for me, I'm not a spicy food person so what's spicy for me may not be for the next person. The jambalaya is really good, pretty much everything we had was really good. If you want some good ol bbq this is definitely the restaurant to get it.

Phenomenal buttery soft brisket, pork ribs, jambalaya, tangy coleslaw and Texas beans. We didn't make it in time for beef ribs. Awesome service and fantastic Texas atmosphete. Very highly recommended 👌
Przemek L — Google review
Went here on a Sunday before opening, luckily was one of the first groups to get in line thus a short wait. We got: Brisket, pork ribs, sausage, smoked chicken thighs, and a big ol dino bone for meats. Sides we got beans, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and jambalaya. My fav items were the pork ribs, smoked chicken thighs (probably rated higher since I usually eat this for daily meal prep on a skillet in comparison) and the dino bone. Sausage had a pop when you take a bite but wasn't anything crazy. Sides were decent but not a lot to talk about, had better mac and cheese at last year's Friendsgiving but it was still pretty good. Dessert we ordered the Banana Pudding and Aunt Ruby's Blueberry Cobbler - the banana pudding was solid, but the cobbler was phenomenal. Almost had to take a nap in my car after the meal but had to swing by Pudgy's Cookies to pick up my Underground Creamery order. (IFKYK)

Cajun restaurant
Restaurant
Gumbo Jeaux's is a Texiana eatery located in an unconventional area near Durham and I-10. The restaurant offers a mix of Texas-style cuisine with the flavors of Cajun food from Louisiana, resulting in a unique and delicious dining experience. The menu features dishes like catfish sandwiches, Catfish Opelousas, and Southwest-style tacos with Creole and Cajun flavors. Despite the unassuming location, the restaurant provides affordable yet flavorful meals that are freshly prepared.
Loved it so much the 1st time I had to revisit a second time. The food is quality and the service is too. Nothing beats freshly breaded shrimp or catfish. If you’re into blackened catfish you must try the Catfish Opelousas 😘😍 #delicious

This place is amazing! We had the smothered catfish and it was delicious. The catfish was crisp just like we like. They have great prices too. Don’t sleep on this place.

Walked in not knowing what to expect. Was greeted by the lovely cashier. Very welcoming restaurant was clean and tidy. We ended up ordering the big jeaux burger, a cup of gumbo and the pasta lashell. Everything came out hot and fresh and was much better than we anticipated! Everything was full of flavor and tasted fresh. We will be back!

My husband and I decided to check this place out, and we’re so glad we did. I had the shrimp po’ boy—seriously one of the best I’ve ever had. My husband got the chicken sandwich and right away was like, “This is so good!” Everything tasted super fresh and full of flavor. The guys behind the counter were really nice and welcoming. When my husband’s order was taking a little longer, they gave us an update without us even asking, which we appreciated. The vibe was super chill, the food was amazing, and the place was full of people who were clearly loving it too. Easy 10/10—we’ll definitely be back.

Gumbo Jeaux’s: Where Good Food Goes to Die Let me start by saying I went in hoping for Louisiana comfort food. What I got was a culinary disappointment in styrofoam containers and wrapped in foil. The crawfish étouffée was a sad, tomato colored watered down sludge pretending to be a meal. The menu has that they use sweet peppers. Well, I'm here to confirm there were no peppers, no onions, no seasoning, and certainly no soul. It tasted like someone stirred a powdered mix into water, panicked halfway through, and threw in a few spoonfuls of canned tomato sauce for color. The flavor was so off and strange. The mouth feel was horrible as it seemed to coat my tongue. The “salad” was in a cup, which might’ve been cute if the portion wasn’t the size of a toddler’s snack and topped with a bunch of shredded cheese and no dressing whatsoever. So here's what added insult to injury, I paid extra for dressing. I even asked the guy who handed me my bag about it, and was confidently told it was in the bag. Spoiler...it wasn’t. So I have few pieces of lettuce way to much cheese and NO DRESSING at all. And the bread… look, I said grilled, not cremated. I like my bread toasted, but this was a blackened brick of sorrow. In short, nothing tasted right, nothing was prepared right, and apparently, no one cared. Gumbo Jeaux’s managed to turn one of Louisiana’s proudest dishes into cafeteria sludge. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. I had to go somewhere else to get lunch. I will not be back. A word to the wise is sufficient...with the rising price of every, don't throw the money away at this place.

Vietnamese restaurant
Mai's Restaurant is a renowned Vietnamese spot located in Midtown Houston, Texas. It has been serving traditional Vietnamese cuisine since 1978 and is considered an institution in the area. The restaurant offers a modern space with bamboo-accented decor and a full bar. It is known for its late-night eats, making it a popular choice after concerts or events.
I heard about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try. I ordered egg rolls and Bun Bo Hue soup. The egg rolls were fantastic, not only crunchy but delicious. The sauce they came with was perfect - it didn’t seem to be very sugary like they normally are. The soup was interesting - I haven’t had a one just like it before. It was nice to try. Would definitely be open to coming back here.

This place was popping back when I had it 20 years ago. I came back to see if it was the same. It was easy for us to find parking. The food was tasty. The presentation was good. Service was on point. And the restaurant was clean. We were there on a week day for lunch.

Mai’s is a classic Houston staple for a reason. The food is consistently flavorful, portions are generous, and the menu offers a great mix of traditional Vietnamese dishes and crowd-pleasers. The vibe is casual and the space is clean. Service was attentive. It’s a great place for both first-timers to Vietnamese cuisine and longtime fans. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Midtown and craving a solid, comforting meal.

Four of us for dinner. Got one of the 3 prized parking spots in front. Parking is a risk here due to area. Broken glass in both lots behind restaurant. However, it worked out for us. Haven’t been here in about 10 years. Used to eat here often when I lived in Houston and worked downtown. Still good, outstanding service!!

Great experience! We found this place while visiting the area and we're amazed at the level of customer service and quality at the price. Very reasonable price and we were all very happy with the flavor of service. We also ordered dessert and happy we did. We used to go to your location in Katy, however, it closed down over the last couple years. So now we've had the honour of attending your first location. Location. You have so many delicious options. Go wrong with any of them, we chose three empanadas and it comes with fries and a sweet little mini dessert. We added teas to the mix and it was the perfect amount of food. I can't remember what they were called unfortunately. What I would say is that everything is absolutely homemade in house, the chimichurri is phenomenal, the outside of the empanadas is perfectly crispy but, because they are homemade and made to order, they are very hot. Very hot. You may want to crack them open and let them sit on the plate for 2 to 3 minutes before you actually bite in. Or you may burn your mouth the same way I did on the first bite...... I'm a fast learner LOL so instead I indulged in their curly wedge whole fries which I thought were delicious. But the one thing I would say is if you're looking for crispy french fries, you may have to request that. I'm not sure if it's a normal thing, but they were a little less fried than the normal American style french fry. And being that there Argentina that might be the general style. I'm just not really sure. Next time I will ask them to double fry mine 😁 but I would highly recommend it, they also have sandwiches and solids along with a take-home bakery option which look Divine. Divine. Will actually be taking my father-in-law here sometime this week. That's how much we have enjoyed it. He's coming in from out of town and we know he'll enjoy it too. All of the service personnel were friendly, informational and quick which was also wonderful. I'm not sure if it's a family-ran business or not, but nonetheless, everyone seems to enjoy the atmosphere and make it a pleasant experience to come into. No rushing No Disingenuousness, and the atmosphere is cute, kind of funky, and if you want, you can even leave your own mark on the place 🫴

Juicy flavorful empanandas! Chimichurri sauce is amazing! The habonero hot sauce is rather hot. Nice casual atmosphere too. I wished I lived near this place. But if you're staying at the nearby Marriott, give this place a visit! You won't be disappointed!

Tucked away on Westheimer is Marino's. This charming restaurant specialises in Enpanadas, a food native to South America. Three is a super wide range to choose from, see the menu in my pictures. I recommend the Chuck Wagon which was full of meat and mushrooms and very tasty. The cheese and ham was good too. There is a selection of beers to drink as well as the usual soft drinks.

I ordered 15 empanadas and 8 of them were to go. I also ordered a bottle of chimichurri which they packed along the sweet empanadas. the cap on the bottle was not closed well and ended up spilling over the sweet empanadas. They shouldn’t be packing the sauce together with the food, just to save an extra bag. Terrible to-go experience. Tried calling them and they have a recording saying phones are out of service.

I love how this place opens so late! This is my second time getting velvet taco however the first one at this location. This place once had the most chill vibe on Washington. Now it seems a little subdued. The place should have been packed, and it might have been the rain, but there were two other people there, that's it. The huge megalithic gas and smoke station, with their lighting that's visible to Mars, next door kind of kills the mood. Like when you turn the lights on to see the person you brought home from the bar.

Paulie's is a laid-back Italian cafe and espresso bar owned by Paul Petronella, offering a variety of housemade pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, and Panini. The wine list is designed to be user-friendly and the staff is knowledgeable and ready to assist. In addition to the food menu, there are also sweet treats like cookies, brownies, bread pudding, and pie available for dessert.
Absolutely one of, if not the absolute best Italian restaurants in Houston. We stopped in on a Tuesday night after seeing great reviews online for Paulie's. Upon arrival, there is a private parking lot behind the restaurant that was easy and convenient to park in. When we walked inside the restaurant, we took note of the pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is counter-service style and very convenient to order and find a table. The menu is wonderful with plenty of selections without being overwhelming. We ordered vegetable soup, pesto pasta with chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, and Canestri and Broccoli (shells with oil/garlic/parmesean, and broccoli with chicken). We also ordered iced tea and ginger lemonade as well. The ginger lemonade and iced tea was very good, fresh, and not too sweet. The vegetable soup was rustic, homemade, and had an amazing broth. The soup was full of thick cut veggies (carrots, celery, potatoes, red peppers, corn, and green beans). This was one of the absolute best veggie soups I've ever had, and $7 for a large bowl is a great value. The spaghetti and meatballs was VERY good. The sauce is a homemade San Marzano tomato sauce. Very rich flavor without too much acidity. The meatballs were moist, tender, flavorful, and not overly spiced. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The pesto was extremely fresh and bright with very clean and light flavors and a delicious olive oil base. The kalamata olives were a very nice touch, and the grilled chicken was cooked to perfectly. Nice crispy pan seared outside and so moist and tender inside. Again, the pasta was cooked perfectly. The Canestri and Brocccoli (shells with olive oil/parmesean/garlic with broccoli and chicken) was absolutely out of this world. One of the best pasta dishes I've ever had in my life. Dripping with flavor without being too heavy. Again, the pasta and chicken were both cooked perfectly. The meals came with garlic bread, which was very nice. Not overwhelming with garlic and cooked perfectly. Such a nice compliment to the meals. We finished up with a mocha latte and some of their homemade Easter shortbread cookies. Excellent latte, with beautiful flavor and not too sweet. The shortbread Easter cookies were absolutely incredible. Mindblowingly good how buttery and tasty these are. The price for dinner 3 people without alcohol was around $77 and another $12 for the coffee and cookies (all not counting tip). Overall, this is truly a hidden gem of Houston. If you want REALLY good Italian food at a VERY good price, and in the greater Houston area, this is the #1 place to go, period.

Service was great! Quick serve. $13 for pasta and 2 pieces of bread. Qty was ok. Tasty pasta. No good on toasted bread. We will visit again.
Andy D — Google review
The food here was absolutely fantastic, and in pretty generous portions as well. My only issue was that I found a chunk of hard plastic in my food as i was eating it. Thought it was a bone at first until i spit it out and saw it. Things happen so i can try to look past that, but the food is quite pricey - yet there is no atmosphere to the restaurant to accommodate those prices. The interior is very minimal. There are no servers, you get up to get your own food and drink - i just cant understand what about this earns the prices they charge for the food. I suppose its worth trying but with the plethora of options in houston i personally wouldnt go twice.
Nathaniel B — Google review
I placed a to-go order today around 7:50 PM and was really looking forward to one of my favorite dishes—chicken piccata—along with a full Italian salad and full spaghetti with meatball. Everything seemed fine until I got home and noticed that the chicken piccata was only a half portion. I’ve ordered this dish many times in the past, and a full order has always come with two chicken cutlets. This time, there was only one. I returned to the restaurant to check if there was a mix-up, but was told that a full order now only comes with one cutlet—and a half order comes with half a cutlet. At $26, I expected more, especially considering past experiences. It was a disappointing surprise from a place I’ve enjoyed for a long time. I hope this was a misunderstanding or a recent change in portions, but either way, it left me really let down.

Bubba's Texas Burger Shack is a rustic eatery located under a highway, offering an authentic dining experience reminiscent of a bygone era. Known for its buffalo burgers, Bubba's prides itself on serving leaner, hormone-free patties. The casual atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for families and friends to enjoy delicious meals together.
Honestly I didn’t even notice this location every time I drove by, but once I was recommended to eat here I was completely shocked that a restaurant was under my nose!! For the border burger accompanied with the chili cheese fries. As well as a cokes The border burger was very filling, I opted for the bison meat which came out tasty and juicy, it was a great blend of ingredients and I enjoyed each bite. Chili cheese fries had a surprising kick! They were very delicious with each bite making my mouth water for more. Location is mainly outdoor seating but I felt very comfortable eating and enjoyed the good weather during the time. The staff are very friendly and welcoming as well! Will definitely come back to eat.

Delicious! My burger, the Houston Burger was amazing, I ordered everything on it, and it was awesome. Messy, but oh so good!! I loved everything about it, loved the fries that were super crispy and seasoned well, they didn’t lose their crunch as time passed… the patty was well seasoned and cooked well. Hubby got the Patty melt and then he tried mine and said mine was better because of the bbq sauce and bacon. Overall great, and I would definitely come again.

My son and I ate at Bubba’s Saturday evening. I ordered online and when we got there, we were told they were temporarily closing for 45 minutes to restock. It was 7:20 PM! Who does that?!?! BUT…the burger was tasty. The onion rings were crispy and delicious, but appear to be frozen. The French Fries were really good, but my son didn’t really like the grilled cheese. I also got the Chili. If the burger business ever falters, Bubba’s could rebrand as the “Best Little Chili House in Texas” and print money! So good!
Russell C — Google review
The bison burgers were ok. A bit dry and not seasoned well. If I go back I will try the regular burger meat. Maybe that will taste better. But there are way too many burgers joints in Houston for me to rush back here. It’s got the “classic dive” experience. Dirty tables and a bathroom that would make you want to pee outside in the bushes instead of. The employee taking my order was polite and the catered to my specific requests.
L S — Google review
This place is different from other burger joints. We had one hamburger, two bison burgers, and one BLT. The BLT is my most favorite. The bison burgers were a little chewy and dry. We like sitting out in the patio with no trees but a parking lot of cars. This is a wakeup call of reality that many of us live in suburbs with tree-lined boulevards, green trails, walking paths, lake view, golf course view … so sorry for those struggling to live in war zones.

The over large black woman working the register was one of the least friendly and least helpful employees I’ve come across at a restaurant. It was as if she was angry any customer was there to order. Aside from that it was hard to find and dangerous to enter and exit the lot. Yes the food was good. Unfortunately it was not good enough to justify the drive and the outside dining in Houston heat.
Kyle H — Google review
Bubba’s Texas Burger Shack is hands down one of the best burger spots in Houston — and it also happens to be my wife’s favorite. Back when she was pregnant, this was her go-to place, and we still find ourselves coming back because it’s just that good. What makes Bubba’s stand out is the quality. The burgers are made with fresh, flavorful ingredients, and every bite tastes like the kind of burger you hope for when you’re craving the real deal. It’s not just the food, though — the staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Part of the charm is that Bubba’s is tucked away in a spot you might not expect, but once you find it, you’ll be glad you did. It has that hidden-gem feel while still delivering consistently excellent food. If you’re looking for a really, really good burger — arguably one of the best in Houston — you’ve got to stop by Bubba’s Texas Burger Shack. It’s worth the trip every time.

We are long time fans of the Hubcap Grill. It has a justified reputation for innovative and delicious burgers. I usually get the Sticky Burger, that has peanut butter, and add extra pickles to balance the sweetness. This time, I opted for the tamale burger because it is seasonal. And: tamales. . The fries were just how I love them. I go for the extra crispy fries as dessert. . Service was prompt and the food came out faster than expected. It was a great day to enjoy the patio too.

I was told that this is the best burger in Houston and if it isn't, it certainly gives a solid showing. Competes with Burger Joint for my best burger at this price range for certain. Sweet potato fries were delicious, though not as crispy as I like them. $15.50 for fries and burger with tax and tip. Tap water is available if you ask.

Sushi restaurant
Restaurant
Oishii is a family-owned Japanese eatery located on Richmond Avenue in Houston, Texas. The restaurant offers a variety of affordable and delectable Japanese dishes such as sushi, tempura, and teriyaki. During happy hour, patrons can enjoy buy-one-get-one deals on appetizers and discounted beers and sake. Oishii's menu features crowd-pleasers like sushi platters, sashimi plates, and hand rolls at reasonable prices.
Great sushi at an unbelievable price. The lunch specials are such a good deal! It’s exciting sitting at the bar watching the sushi chefs. Oishii is perfect if you have limited time to eat. The wait staff are always friendly and will explain the details of a dish without a hint of annoyance.

This is a Houston staple! Unpretentious and the sushi is consistently good. Be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes in peak hours. My go-to order is Special A and I also love the Bomb roll. The staff are Houston icons as well. Some of them have been there for over a decade! Truly recommend!!

The restaurant NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!! I have been going there for many years and the sushi is Always fresh and melts in your mouth. I drive far to eat there and will not even eat anything in the area I live off near Hwy 290. The Prices are also Great especially Happy Hour!!! THANKS TO THE OWNERS ^ STAFF!!!

We tried the Kano Salad, Spicy Salmon, and the Vegetable Tempura (especially the zucchini). everything was absolutely delicious! Fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The staff here are so nice, respectful, and always smiling, which makes the experience even better.

Very good food and service. Lunch bento box with salmon for $12.95, and you can then add a California roll for $2.00. That’s a very good deal. Happy hour menu seems great too.

Happy Hour's BACK !! Even the Saki was on the HHr menu . There is a minimum to get the buy 1 get 1 , but we over ordered so it didn't matter to us. ( look them up to get the full scoop ) You can't go wrong with the HHr menu but I must admit that the Veggie tempura sauce was bland ( which has nothing to do with the great veggies .. but it bugged me. It looked inviting and everytime i dipped i was reminded , so i used the pork roll sauce 😄 ) . Allll the others sauces that came with the dishes added to it. We loved the pork rolls so much we had to order a second helping We did venture over to the reg menu and tried the R.M Roll shrimp , scallops, salmon , avocado with habenero mesago ( I did enjoy but maybe because of the western in me i needed the wasabi and ginger the avocado was a bit overwhelming ) The service was spot on , I think I had 3 servers because everyone kept checking on us i mean eeeeeveryone ( that's a great thing ) No room for dessert , we'll have to plan for it next time 😋

I’ve been coming to Oishii for years and honestly, I don’t get how anyone could ever leave a bad review. The food has always been fresh, consistent, and just flat-out amazing every time. You can tell they actually care about what they serve. Their Chirashi Deluxe is easily the best value I’ve ever seen anywhere — loaded with super fresh fish, generous portions, and always perfect. It’s my go-to order when I want something that actually feels worth what I’m paying for (and then some). The staff is always cool, even when it’s packed — which it usually is, because everyone knows how good this place is. Prices are solid, quality is unbeatable, and the vibe is just right. I’ve tried plenty of sushi spots around Houston and nothing compares. Oishii has been that spot for me for years and still is.

Oshii is like a hidden gem. The food is good and prices are even better. The staff is very friendly. It's small and sometimes there can be a wait time but it's never for long and it's well worth the wait

Riel is a vibrant bistro located in Montrose, Houston, offering a diverse array of globally inspired shared plates, cocktails, beer, and sparkling wine. Since its establishment in 2016, this restaurant has been showcasing a unique culinary perspective from executive chef and co-owner Ryan Lachaine. The menu reflects Chef Lachaine's Ukrainian and French-Canadian background while drawing inspiration from local Gulf Coast ingredients.
We came here for HRW. You get 4 courses for $55. I enjoyed all of my courses. The tempura cauliflower was nice and spicy and the portion size was decent. The butter burger was my favorite. It was on a toasted bun and was so moist and buttery and delicious. The market fish was light and very flavorful. The bees knees dessert was also great. Plenty of parking and the service was great. My only complaint is that the temperature of the restaurant was very warm. We had to keep 2 menus to use as fans.
Diem A — Google review
We all left very disappointed with the food and service. We went for dinner on a Friday and the restaurant was not crowded at all, but the main dishes arrived at different moments so while my friends were done eating, I haven’t even received my plate. I made several follow ups with the waitress but that did not speed up things… Everything we ate was not impressive, the best dish was the meat with beans but is hard to do something wrong with that. Drinks and wine were good and there is decent parking in front of the restaurant.
Fernanda C — Google review
What a gem! Everything was just amazing. We tried a variety of plates and drinks; every single item was delicious. We're looking to coming back!
MR H — Google review
The wagyu beef butter burgers were simply delicious, flavorful bites that were reasonably sized but still generous. The medium-rare hanger steak was cooked to perfection. Although both desserts were delicious, I think I preferred the sticky toffee pudding over the Nutella cheesecake. Because the sticky toffee pudding used banana nut bread for the cake, I believe I like it more. I did like every single meal that was served here! 1000/10 would return. Already, I'm missing it.
Gary T — Google review
I finally made it to Riel. It was everything I was hoping it would be. Creative and innovative dishes that teased the palette with seafood, meat or vegan options. The presentation was artful and modern. The flavors were genius, unexpected and delicious. I'm always a lover of tapas style eating and enjoyed being able to taste many of the dishes. The portions are a little on the small side for the price, though some of the dishes were so good we ordered them again. The restaurant had a good ambiance with a modern vibe. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. A great experience and definitely a place to try if you enjoy dining.

Everything we ate was fantastic, but I especially recommend the kimchi carbonara and the sticky toffee pudding.
Austin R — Google review
Nice atmosphere. They have a happy hour but the choices are limited. The food is good, though for some plates the portions are on the smaller side. The dico cowboy cocktail is really good. The classics are ok. The Nutella cheesecake was very good. Unfortunately the oysters we had weren't as clean or fresh as I would like. We were offered a wine that in the end was not available, so the whole dining experience was a bit stop and go. Still, the food is good and the atmosphere is very nice. Nice place to talk to friends or have a date. Parking available.

Pros: Interesting, creative dishes with unique influences — Ukrainian, French Canadian, Cajun; cute neighborhood restaurant vibe Cons: on our night — Slow, inattentive service (the chef and expediter looked less than thrilled to be there, no urgency from FOH staff or any apology or assurances for the very slow wait); for the price point, food was okay (not super expensive but not great value either)

Revival Market is a unique specialty market and café nestled in the Heights, where you can enjoy a delightful seat-yourself experience. This charming spot offers an enticing menu featuring mouthwatering sandwiches like the 44 Farms pork meatball sub and the beef belly hot pastrami, each crafted with care using high-quality ingredients. Beyond their impressive sandwich selection, Revival Market also serves up delicious breakfast options and freshly brewed coffee, making it an ideal stop for both leisurely diners and those on-the-go.
Very friendly staff! Staff made recommendations while I already had my mind made up on the bacon!! The Lattes were amazing and the food was delicious. I like my bacon and this BLT was amazing with the thick cut braised bacon. My wife’s shakshouka is a dish from North Africa and was amazing as well. I highly recommend checking this place out!!

Upon walking in and checking out the menu, I knew I was in a place of quality after seeing they source their burger from 44 Farms. Very cute counter service style set up. Was happy at 9:30 AM I could order off the breakfast or lunch menu. I ordered the Thunderbolt as a coffee and decided to get a menu item I normally wouldn’t order, The Roast Porchetta Sandwhich. Boy, was I glad I branched out, this sandwich was top notch, and so was the pesto potato salad I got on the side. I just moved to the area and can now say this will be a regular mainstay after this first experience. Staff was cordial and looked happy to be here.

Upscale sandwiches . I came for coffee that was excellent with good service. Convenient location with parking and seating inside and out. A strong hipster vibe an expensive menu with an emphasis on meat. Although there are a couple of vegan options

Very chill place - good food, good coffee. Staff very friendly, but... for me, just not a fan of the "seat yourself, order at the window" service model. If u have no problem with that, then - by all means! Give it a try! I loved my savory breakfast potatoes with the grilled onions- delish! Eggs were perfectly cooked!! Perfectly!! My french toast was moist, melt-in-your-mouth sweet goodness! But - c'mon man - dont make me wait on line again just cuz I decided to get a cup of coffee (to go with my French toast! :). Bleh.

A really good breakfast place with lots of coffee and breakfast options. I am giving them 4 stars because despite being there multiple times and letting them know, they always end up serving mildly hot hot chocolate . I mean it’s called “Hot” chocolate for a reason 😊. Other than that It’s really good and I’d suggest everyone to give them a try.

Revival market is a cute restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a variety of food options. The fried potatoes are really good. The avocado toast was also good- I got it without tomato or arugula.

I don't want to be unfair and give only one star when I didn't even stay to try anything but I can say the place didn't look like any of the pictures I found online... I was looking forward to visiting this place and had the idea there would be some neat things to see while being there... the was no real "market" side of it... its pretty much a coffee shop with some meat in display with extremely high prices... I understand it's an expensive place what I don't understand is why they're called "market"... or why it's changed so much from the pictures I saw online (I'm talking about the inside of it) in the pictures I've seen flowers and different displays with stuff to purchase... in the store I found only a counter with meats, a few desserts and tables like in any coffee shop. I left disappointed.
Paloma K — Google review
This place has morphed into primarily, a restaurant. And very good one it is for the daily lunch crowd wanting fresh food and excellent coffee. The market it once was has given way more tables and seating. With the demise of Canopy, Revival has top shelf breakfast tacos. My side was a bowl of fruit and this is where the thoughtfulness appears. The grapes were halved and the apple diced to the size of the blueberries. You can get a taste of every ingredient with every fork load. Unlike nearby eateries, there is no rinds to parse or avoid, every bite is satisfying. My only regret is the poor lighting inside, as far as reading during your lunch break. Outside seating has expanded too, which I eschew, traffic can be audibly an distraction, with occasional bus fumes during a meal. The staff is attentive despite it's youth and welcoming. A return for a late breakfast was not disappointment, they serve breakfast all day, the photo is of the tasty breakfast tacos, one already devoured. You have a choice of potatoes or a bowl of fruit. If you choose fruit, the variety is more diverse than elsewhere, with a preponderance of diced apple.

Cali Sandwich & Pho is a cozy Vietnamese eatery located in a strip center on Travis St. downtown, offering a variety of traditional dishes such as banh mi sandwiches and pho. The Grilled BBQ Pork banh mi is particularly popular, featuring sweet and tangy barbecued pork, pickled carrot, jalapeno, cucumber, and cilantro on a soft French baguette.
Best porkchops with rice #17: 10/10 Banh mi pork : 8/10 I go here all the time to eat their porkchop with the broken rice and it’s so juicy and flavorful with the right amount of char and lemon grass I recently tried the banh me and its crunchy on the outside , soft inside, with really flavorful pork on the inside. Definitely one of the better banh mis I’ve had in town. If you want a treat, go get some Vietnamese coffee too, it tastes authentic

Best tofu Bahn Mis in Houston since Les Grivals (which was the best) closed and Cali’s menu is not only absolutely delicious, it’s wonderful for vegetarians! Good tofu dishes, with well cooked tofu (less common than you’d think in this day of many vegetarians ). Love this place and it gets my highest level of recommendation! The chili lemongrass tofu, as well as the spicy garlic tofu have become my 2 favorite tofu dishes that I’ve ever had! Spiced and cooked perfectly every time I go, and along with their super fresh tofu spring rolls, this place is truly the best, and I hope that more people will eat at this place because truly no one else does it better than Cali Sandwich and Pho!!

In town for a concert my spouse and I watched Eat Local and saw this spot on the show. Glad we came! Great food and the gentleman who sat us was so very helpful in explaining what was popular, what he recommended and describing dishes if we had questions etc. Delish!!!! Did not disappoint wish I could post my photos with my review. We will be back again.

Solid food!!! The grilled pork vermicelli is so good, lots of meat, paired with the crunchy veggies, every bite is perfect. I have sensitive stomach so eating out leaves me feeling uncomfortable and bloated a lot of the times, but the dishes at this place just tasted like fresh, good quality “real food”, my stomach felt great afterwards. The meatball soup leftover I got turned into gelatin in my fridge, heard that’s an indication of good soup. Def going back to try their pho.

Good Vietnamese food in a casual place. It’s very wholesome to see the whole family including adults and elders work in the restaurant ☺️ Their banh mi menu is extensive and affordable. Good choices for vegetarians too. I had Bun Bo hue viet style and it was very delicious. Parking is decent for Midtown area. - can accommodate 10 cars. Will come back again :)

I saw this place on Eat Like A Local episode, was excited to try an authentic bahn mi and Vietnamese noodle bowl with pork. Super disappointed. I usually eat Vietnamese food at least once every two weeks, right now I am loving #PhoFix but, the way they cut the meat in the bowls is not appetizing, and actually some of the other hot entrees with rice looked better, and maybe they are, but they need to put some money back into this restaurant and get better lighting, tables, and menus that are laminated. Just not good.

Took my 3 very picky teenage daughters here for some pho. They loved it. Slurped up most of the broth. I had the crushed rice and grilled pork. It was amazing. Love the sauteed green onions on the perfectly cooked crushed rice. Looking forward to trying their banh mis.

I didn’t eat this fresh but air fired it the following day. The bread was crunchy. Overall a good test of a sandwich. I didn’t quite like some of the cold cuts. The combination of them didn’t work well together especially the pork loaf and ham.

Restaurant
Bludorn, located in Montrose and named after Chef Aaron Bludorn, has become one of Houston's top culinary destinations. The restaurant offers a fashionable setting to enjoy cocktails, wine, and seasonal French-inspired New American cuisine.
I went to Bludorn on a Friday night for a birthday dinner and the experience surpassed all expectations. The food was intentional, unique, beautiful and delicious! The ambiance was warm and intimate. Not too loud so you could still hear people talk without having to shout. The best part that made everything tie together was the amazing, impeccable SERVICE! Our wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. They always came at the right time and were super helpful/ thoughtful to make the birthday celebration special. They explained things well, gave recommendations, and never made us feel rushed. We had a great time. 1000% would recommend Bludorn!!!

I just want to say that this is the place to go when you want exquisite food, exceptional service and experience a true fine dining vibe. Ladies night was a hit and I'm sure we tried half the menu. From the fresh bread with herb butter and delectable squash blossoms to the smoky ravioli along side the beets and creamed spinach all were just what our palates needed. Everything was flavorful and the dishes were thoughtfully plated and opened our minds to new flavor combinations. The drinks and dessert were the icing on this wonderful night out with friends. The only thing better than the food was the service. Every one was knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. It was an experience worth every penny spent. I recommend Bludorn for any occasion.

The vibe sitting outside away from the noise of inside was amazing given the weather!! Service was spot on. Very attentive without being overly attending. The food was delicious and my husbands steak was cooked to perfection. The prefix menu was nice and offered a good selection! My only complaints were that the whipped cream on my dessert was salted. Made everything taste just not great. The cake/curd itself was amazing. The collards were also so salted I couldn’t even eat them.
Gibby — Google review
First off, I’d like to commend the restaurant for its delicious menu, particularly the smoked oysters and the oysters with bacon and spinach. They were absolutely fantastic, and I was thoroughly impressed with the culinary offerings. However, I did have an unfortunate experience at the bar, which affected my overall impression of my visit. After enjoying an espresso martini, the bartender informed me that I would no longer be served. I appreciate the need for responsibility, but I felt that the decision was made hastily and without understanding. I was having a great time, just being my naturally happy and loud self, and definitely wasn’t intoxicated. I felt that the bartender could have addressed the situation with more empathy and courtesy. Being approached in a manner that felt dismissive was disappointing, especially since my intention was to enjoy a good time with friends in the lively atmosphere your restaurant provides. I truly enjoyed the food, and it was a shame that this incident clouded an otherwise great experience. Perhaps additional training for staff on how to gauge intoxication and engage with customers in a more positive manner could prevent future misunderstandings. I don’t think I’ll ever return.

Its a beautiful restaurant with great service. We came for brunch and ordered a few things. The oysters were delicious, my partner got the steak and eggs which he said was average..mostly because he felt the steak could be seasoned be. The short rib ravioli was not bad though a tad salty for my taste. We may come back to try their dinner menu another time but it was a bit underwhelming.
Chioma O — Google review
Just had the most amazing dinner at Bludorn. The oysters were incredible and so fresh. The wine was absolutely perfect with every course. We had the red snapper and each flavor was a blast of incredible that I honestly can’t even explain. We finished with the Baked Alaska and the nitro carajillo, and it was the perfect ending to one of the best meals we’ve ever had. After 25 years in Houston, I think this might be the best dining experience we’ve had in the city. Support local businesses and go try this place. Bludorn is easily one of the best restaurants in the country.

We celebrated our anniversary at Bludorn, and it was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so special — every single person was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The food was incredible — every dish was full of flavor and perfectly prepared. You can really feel the care and creativity that goes into everything they do. It was the perfect place to celebrate, and we left already talking about when we’ll come back!

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and were greeted with a glass of champagne on the house! The atmosphere was very sophisticated and our server (Grayson) was incredible. Despite its utilitarian design for takeout, the menu features comforting Taiwanese noodle soups and pan-fried or steamed dumplings. The restaurant provides affordable dining with a fulfilling meal for two costing less than $20.
Just wow! The food is so incredibly delicious, the portions are huge, and the prices are fair! We had the beef tendon noodles, sesame noodles, veggie and pork chive dumplings. 100% please get and try the beef tendon, it was life changing. Melt in your mouth tendon, and a flavorful broth and amazing noodles. The sesame noodles are a sesame lovers dream. And all of the dumplings were fantastic!

Just visited San Dong Noodle House and I'm still dreaming about those handmade noodles! This place delivers authentic, soulful Chinese cuisine that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the check. The beef noodle soup is absolutely spectacular - tender chunks of beef swimming in a rich, aromatic broth with perfectly chewy handmade noodles. But the true showstoppers are their pork & chive dumplings with perfectly crimped edges and juicy fillings that burst with flavor. What impressed me most was how quickly everything arrived at our table despite the restaurant being busy. The staff clearly takes pride in their craft, and it shows in every dish that comes out of the kitchen. Whether you're craving comfort food or looking to explore authentic Chinese cuisine, San Dong Noodle House delivers on all fronts. Don't miss this culinary treasure - your taste buds will thank you!

San Dong remains a Houston staple that never misses! My usual go-to is their incredible beef noodle soup, but this time I switched it up for the pork chop rice plate at an amazing $9.99. It was a fantastic choice—perfectly seasoned, tender pork paired with fluffy rice that’s just as satisfying as my usual. The pan fried dumplings were, as always, a highlight, with their crispy exterior and juicy, savory filling. The vibe is cozy, the service is warm, and the food is consistently outstanding. San Dong is a must-visit gem in Houston!

Surprisingly good Cantonese style noodle house. While they have a few different options, I tried the signature spicy beef noodle. You order and pay at the counter, get a table number and they bring the food out. The meats are braised to perfection and they give you a good amount and proportionate to the noodles. The pickled cabbage they put in is amazing too. Overall, great experience and would love to try out their other signature dishes next time

I had an excellent first-time experience at this restaurant! The Roasted Beef Noodle soup and Pan-fried Dumplings were standout dishes. The broth was clear and flavorful, and the noodles were fresh and perfectly cooked. The option to customize spice levels with pepper and chili oil was a great touch. The dumplings were authentic and had a homemade taste. Portion sizes were generous – we often shared the dumplings, easy portions. The service was efficient, with friendly staff and easy counter ordering, kudos to them. Even during rush hour, the tables turned over smoothly. Highly recommend the Roasted Beef Noodles and Pan-fried Dumplings – a fun and satisfying meal for both kids and adults!

Cantina Barba is a laid-back spot that serves house-smoked meat tacos, coffee, beer, and mezcal. It's known for its late-night hours, staying open until 12 am on Sundays through Thursdays and until 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays. The menu includes items like the cheeseburger, smoked pork taco, and jamaica aqua fresca. In addition to tacos, they offer margarita kits with various options for tequila-based drinks.
The food, atmosphere, and staff were all awesome. Visited for the first time with a few friends on a late Friday night, and we had no issues finding a place to sit. Friends told me to try a margarita and glad I did because it didn't disappoint! The al pasta and carne asada tacos were delicious. I appreciate all the staff that helped me and wish I could remember names to shout y'all out!!
Ana G — Google review
I’ve been coming here for the past 5-6 years since I moved to Houston. A buddy recommended it to me, and it instantly became my favorite taco spot to go to. But I don’t come here that often. Why is it that you ask… it’s my favorite spot after all. Their prices are just a bittttt overpriced. These 2 tacos cost me $13.41. Just a Carne Asada and add avocado…basically $14 for 2 tacos that are slightly bigger than street tacos is crazy work. Please, y’all’s prices are a bit much. I can go to another taco spot around town or a damn good taco truck and get more for less. Other than that, the vibes are immaculate. Customer service is straightforward but nothing to write home about. It’s really a “No BS” kind of spot, so you just get what you get. They’re not rude, but I feel like often times it feels as if they’re a bit too “cool for school.” Another annoying nitpick is they don’t have a phone number you can call, which is…bizarre to me. Maybe they’ve added one since this review, but I’ve never been able to find it. The deck & cover they added on the side is a really nice touch compared to the gravel that was there before. It keeps the sun from destroying your soul in the middle of summertime. And the small little shack they have on the opposite side of the deck is a whole damn vibe in the summer and whenever they have it open. You get some quality DJs in there, and it’s a super fun time. Overall, I’ll keep coming back because they’ve never given me a reason not to. This is one of the dopest spots in Houston to hit up for some tacos by far!

This is the second time in the row that I've gone to order food from this place. Which I always enjoyed, but waited almost 15 minutes for somebody to come back to the bar and take my order. There seems to be no urgency for customer service. When I left tonight there were 8 people in line waiting. Sometimes success breeds arrogance.

Cantina Barba Is a classic mezcal bar, I visited the bar at night after winding down from a fun night in the city. The food here is reasonably priced, and the ambience is pretty cozy, I personally haven’t had a chance to visit the bar in daylight but I’m willing to bet it’s prettier in the day time. Ambiance: outdoor patio 10/10!! Spacious, and vibrant at night. Indoor seating 6/10 a bit cramped, indoor seating gives off dive bar vibes. Cuisine: 10/10 classic bar food, the nachos were even better!! Price Range: reasonably priced, the chicken quesadilla was priced at $8 with a drink. Parking: 4/10 awkward real estate location, late night stiff parking. Alcohol/smoking: Alcohol/Smoking friendly Operating hours: 9AM-2AM SUN-THU, 9AM-3AM FRI & SAT, great spot to hit up late at night.

Feges BBQ is a popular spot in Houston's food scene, founded by the husband-and-wife team of Patrick Feges and Erin Smith. They have brought their culinary expertise to create a unique dining experience. The menu features classic smoked meats like ribs, brisket, and whole hog with mop sauce, as well as unconventional BBQ dishes such as curry lime smoked chicken wings and cracklin nachos. The restaurant caters to both hardcore barbecue fans and those seeking creative comfort food.
Quality craft bbq! Satisfied my hunger for it. Brisket was juicy tender and very flavorful. Same with the ribs with plenty of smoke. Some sides were unique and interesting that i would order again. 2nd time there. Did not disappoint. Kudos to the staff who made it happen!

We had a nice experience at this BBQ spot. The turkey, ribs, and sausage were all flavorful and well-cooked, definitely the highlights of the meal. Some of the sides were hit or miss, but a couple stood out as really tasty like the Mac n cheese. There’s a wide variety of sauces to choose from. The ambience was warm and welcoming, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Overall, a solid BBQ spot worth checking out if you’re in the mood for good meats and a laid-back atmosphere.

My burger and fries was top notch. I loved the sauce on the feges burger and the fries were crisp and flavorful. I also had the Saturday special burnt ends but they were inedible. They were chewy and not very flavorful. My mother had them as well and agreed. The spicy greens tasted like kimchi with a umami flavor I was not a fan of. Too spicy for my daughter but the umami taste is what I disliked. In general I like this place as it has a kids play area and a good sized patio but some stuff is better than others in the menu.

Stellar craft Q and great sides. I eat here every week and am impressed every time. Favorites are the brisket, turkey, and when available the 1/2 chicken (absolutely crushed it). Love the spicy braised greens and mac n cheese. The sweet and spicy Brussels Sprouts have been hit or miss…excellent if they are not dried out. Staff are always cheerful and helpful. A bit more upscale vibe than the usual BBQ joint. Would be nice if they had TVs to watch sports, I would stay and spend more $. Check out Chris Shepherd’s review of them on Eat Like a Local.

Wanted to love it... but it fell flat. After hearing so many rave reviews, my husband and I were excited to finally try Feges, but sadly, it just didn't deliver for us. We both ordered the 2-meat 2 side plates. I had sausage and turkey with elote salad and Korean spiced greens; he had brisket and ribs with dirty rice and sweet & spicy brussel sprouts. We also tried the hogfat cornbread and the smoked chicken posole soup. While portion sizes and food temperature were solid and the service was friendly, the flavors were overall underwhelming. The turkey was juicy, but the course salt and pepper rub overpowered everything. Sausage was average, and the brisket was dry and not fork tender, leaving us disappointed. The ribs were okay but not memorable. The sides ranged from just okay to confusing the "Korean spiced greens" turned out to be kale, not the collards I was expecting 🫤 which was a big letdown. The dirty rice tasted boxed, and the soup was overloaded with crunchy cabbage that overwhelmed any smoky flavor it might have had. On the other hand, the BBQ sauces brought a positive highlight to the experience with a good variety of flavors, but overall, it just didn't live up to the hype. Great concept, nice space, but a one and done for us.

My partner and I heard about Burger Friday at FEGES BBQ restaurant and we decided to visit. The Burger, Fries and a Drink did not disappoint. Plus the Pickle, Red Onion and Sauces bar nice touch. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of our burgers. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Best part of our night besides the food was Henry our Food Runner whom I thought was the Host of the restaurant. He made sure we had everything we needed for our dinner and made recommendations for other items on the menu. He made us feel right at home. We will be back not just on Burger Friday. Elvis even made it to the restaurant. A+++ on service and hospitality.

I probably wouldn’t recommend this place. I arrived around 4 p.m., and the place was completely empty — usually a sign for me to turn around. There was also no smoky aroma, which was disappointing for a barbecue spot. Surprisingly, the sides outshined the meats. I’m not usually a Brussels sprouts fan, but these were actually pretty good. The rice and cornbread weren’t bad, just had an unusual flavor that didn’t quite work for me. As for the meats, the ribs and brisket were decent, but nothing memorable. On the plus side, the lady at the front was friendly, we received a military discount, and kids eat free on Wednesdays. But if you’re a tourist looking to try true Texas barbecue, this is not the spot.
Philip M — Google review
The barbecue was okay overall, nothing special. The ribs were good, fried ribs were okay, brisket was dry and a little tough, pulled pork was decent, and the sides were pretty good. The carrot cake and banana pudding were the best part.

New American restaurant
Theodore Rex, located in the Warehouse District of Houston, is a cozy and casual bistro offering modern twists on upscale global comfort food. Helmed by chef Justin Yu, who has received accolades for his culinary expertise, the restaurant provides a laid-back setting to enjoy flavorful dishes that change with the seasons. Signature items include a delectable tomato toast and innovative entrees such as taglioni with Gulf Coast oyster liquor and coconut-glazed chicken breast served with a unique sauce.
I've been wanting to go to Theodore Rex for years now, so when my wife booked us to come for my birthday, I was very excited, but I was also nervous if it would live up to the hype. I can honestly say that they absolutely nailed it! The service was great and all of the chefs and waiters we spoke to explained the menu seamlessly. The food had simple plating and felt like it had unique combinations of flavors that somehow still made me feel reminiscent of food made by my parents. For me, this is one of the best restaurants in Houston, I can't wait to come back and try some of their other dishes!

Former post office with a chamber atmosphere - only 7 tables plus a kitchen counter. The service was very attentive and food was delicious. Finally, a HTX restaurant that is absolutely worth Bib Gourmand Michelin guide rating. However, no espresso or espresso-based coffee drinks.
Aleksandrs P — Google review
I write this review out of utmost respect and concern for the person reading it. I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant. The service is slow, and the waiters aren't welcoming. After the appetizers, they told us that the main courses would be "Coming out immediately". It then took 22 more minutes for the next dish to come. Beyond just the timing issue, the service also had a timing issue. They brought out the tomato toast as its own course, then the buttermilk onions as a separate course, when either of these two dishes could have easily been held at temperature and served together. The agnolotti and ravioli then came out, followed by the mains. We did not order dessert as we did not want to wait another 30 minutes and were already put off by our experience. The tomato toast was by far the most delicious thing on the menu. Deeply caramelized and crusty rye sourdough, topped with rich savory and acidic tomato paste and plump sweet grape tomatoes. Like bruschetta's cousin that goes to the gym. A phenomenal dish and I'd order it every time if I ever wanted to come back. The melted onions were delicious, I won't deny it. The only issue is that the dish feels quite incomplete. The sweet and tender onions with a rich and sweet buttermilk that gives a little tang to balance it out, the flavor components were there. One could say it needed salt and I would be inclined to agree, but as it is the dish is a very delicate and pleasing dish. It wasn't satisfactory at all however. As in satisfying to eat, because the meager amount of breadcrumbs didn't succeed in giving enough texture or substance to the dish. The agnolotti was wonderful. A very sweet and slightly salty ricotta and parmesan filled pasta, with grapes that splash with fruity sweet moisture to refresh the mouth. I very much enjoyed this dish. The beef dumplings were awful. My friend compared the texture of the beef to DQ steak fingers and I only laughed at the accuracy of the statement. Nothing redeeming about the dish. The ground beef was not succulent, not flavorful, and it did not stand out in any way. The chicken breast was relatively tender, albeit tough on the thin end. The coconut sauce the chicken sat in was nice but it needed punchiness from acidity or to lean in more savory. As it was, it just tasted watered down, and it wasn't thick enough to cling to the chicken to provide an adequate amount of flavor and seasoning. The chicken thigh was probably the most delicious main course, having ridiculously crispy skin and the seasoning was very much adequate. The soy sauce stood out and the flesh was bouncy yet tender to eat. The redfish was my most anticipated dish, and it did taste similar to how I thought it would. A buttery and rich fish with a toast crust instead of skin, the savory flavor of the redfish was very appealing and the strongest point of the dish, but the meat itself didn't have a texture that impressed me. It wasn't soft or flaky, just something reminiscent of grilling tuna all the way through. The toast was a cool add though. The main sentiment to take away from this review is that there is not anything in this restaurant justifying the premium you're paying to dine here. The service is mediocre, and the food is easily replicable after one taste, i.e. there's no magic at this restaurant. And I hate to be the person that complains about food cost when dining out but serving a single piece of chicken breast and a single piece of thigh for $26 and $28 respectively feels like a kick in the nuts when they’re not doing anything impressive with the protein. When I think about my visit here, I feel like someone that was teased with a dream by the tomato toast, only to be strung along and let down at the very end. Please take your hard-earned money somewhere else to a place that respects it. Their sister restaurant Squable is very good, I have no idea why they missed the mark so hard with this one.

It had been a couple of years since I had last been to T. Rex and I was pretty excited to try the new menu. I set an alarm for when the reservations would open but was still only able to get a patio table for 4. We lucked out with the weather and the patio was actually kind of delightful with only one table for two and then one table for four. Our waiter was extremely friendly and walked us through the new menu. I appreciated his recommendations but we did feel that he led us a tad astray by repeatedly telling us how small the dishes were. The was true for some, but not all and by the time our main courses arrived we were basically full and had to take most of the mains to go. I really enjoyed the cold ratatouille to start. It was light and fresh. The egg was a miss for me. My husband liked it more than I did but said it was, “fine”. Alternately, I enjoyed the French cheese pancake but everyone else at the table felt like it needed to be cheesier. The one dish we agreed on was the Carolina Gold Rice and Chicken. It’s maybe not as good as their old Rice dish but still really yummy. For dessert we ordered the red jello and the dark chocolate torte. The red jello is the can’t miss option here while the dark chocolate torte had a bit of a grainy texture. Overall, I enjoyed coming and trying the new menu but it was pretty expensive for it to feel good not great.

A 10/10 meal. Definitely one of the best dinners I’ve had not just in Texas, but the entire US. Everything was delicious, but a special shoutout goes to the Gulf Redfish, which was a singularly tasty and well-constructed plate of food. Phenomenal. Make the time to come here if you’re in Houston; you won’t be disappointed.
Robin A — Google review
I think this place is a bit overhyped. Ambiance is nice it's romantic, very small maybe 6 tables plus bar seating. Be prepared to sit here for 2 hours atleast (they slowly bring out dishes, extremely slowly) I don't appreciate the 22% gratuity imo it's not warranted. This is just personal, six tables with slow wait times is not very demanding from a service perspective imo. Now for the food: I ordered the tomatoe toast, dumplings, tagliatelle, the red fish, and the strawberry cake The toast - the tomatoe topping was fantastic the bread is deep fried in butter I believe, this isn't needed imo the bread is so heavy I felt bloated the rest of the meal becawue it was so heavy due to the deep frying. Would have been fine with just 5he bread itself plus spread Dumplings - fantastic taste Tagliatelle - fantastic taste but small portion Red fish - probabaly the most flavorful dish and very nice with the touch of honey on the crust Desert - this dessert has an almost crem brulee top with the burnt sugar. It's a big piece, the first bite was really good but the more I ate it the more burnt sugar taste just overwhelmed me. I would say 3 dishes were fantastic but the price / experience ratio is way too high

A fantastic experience with excellent service and thoughtful food. Every bite was exciting and layered. Strong recommend.
Tessa R — Google review
Skip this place. Overpriced, pretentious, mediocre food, cramped atmosphere, and parking is a pain. What we ordered: “Ratatouille” - unappetizing appearance (looked like 5 eyeballs TBH), very one note flavor, salty eggplant, completely missed the zest or acidity of ratatouille, desperately needed vinegar or tomato or the like. “fried white shrimp” - the shrimp were overcooked, but worse was biting in and pulling out a wet green leaf. The dipping sauce was fish flavored mayonnaise that would’ve been 10 times better with some lemon or hot sauce or vinegar. Instead, you just get creamy and salty from this dish. “stuffed squash” - you get half of a tiny squash, I’m talking five bites and you’re done. Except you’re not full at all because it was literally just squash, spinach, and a few random beans. We also got the “lettuces with vinaigrette” and this entire meal that left us hungry after it was over $100. We literally had to get tacos after. Fail.

Stuffed Belly is a popular sandwich shop located on Long Point Road in Houston, Texas. The cozy eatery is known for its delicious Southern comfort food and relaxed atmosphere. Customers rave about the excellent sandwiches, with particular praise for the well-prepared meats, soft and tasty bread, and unique sauces. The hot chicken sandwich is a standout favorite among patrons. Despite being relatively new, Stuffed Belly has quickly gained a reputation for offering high-quality food at reasonable prices.
Tried the Sichuan Hot Chicken from Stuffed Belly and it was so good! Super crunchy, savory, and packed with flavor. If you’re into spicy food, definitely ask for the spicy sauce! The chicken alone has a nice kick, but the sauce takes it to another level. It was a little salty, but I personally love salty food so I was all about it. The staff were really friendly and the whole vibe of the place was relaxed and perfect for a chill lunch spot. Would totally come back!

I had heard so much about this place, but the experience was truly average. We gotta be chicken Chi Juan sandwich as well as the tuna sandwich from the cold section along with tater tots. The tots were great. I would say the sandwich the chicken sandwich was it seemed that the chicken was pre cooked and then redone and it just was overdone and didn’t live up to the hype the tuna sandwich however was okay I would say. All in all it was a pretty average experience and maybe OK to try this place for a cold sandwich or a quick grab, but I don’t think I will be coming back here again.

WOWOWOWOW!!!! Holy YUM! The NICEST drive thru guy helped make my bad day soooo much better. They have multiple gluten free options and man are they DELICIOUS!!!! Very filling and that sauce *chef’s kiss* 👩‍🍳 I also got the “Dirty Dr. Pepper”, I was apprehensive at first thinking there was alcohol in it, but actually it’s made with home made cream. Overall this place immediately has a special place in my heart (and stomach) - DEFINITELY GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY 🙌🏽

Update: The owner reached out to offer me a free grilled cheese done the right way, and I accepted. Upon my return, the cheese was appropriately melted, and i am pleased that I got the experience I should have had the first time. Initial review: I got a grilled cheese, tots, and drink. The grilled cheese was barely warm even though i ate it in my car, and I'm the photo you can see the cheeses aren't melted. It was standard sandwich bread, lightly buttered. I would have requested additional butter for my personal liking. It was a disappointment and not worth $7.50. The tater tots were awesome. Great portion for the price, extra crispy without having to ask, and perfectly salted. The pepsi was a pepsi. In total, i paid $15.18, tax included, and I don't feel i got my money's with. Good to experience once, but Waffle House has a tastier and cheaper grilled cheese.

Cute little sandwich shop with a drive thru! I tried the Sichuan hot chicken sandwich with tater tots. The chicken was comically large, making the bread to meat ratio way off. I could not comfortably eat the sandwich due to how big the chicken was. It was also quite salty, and I didn’t detect much Sichuan flavors. It was a bit disappointing, and I couldn’t finish it. The tater tots were standard. I would have to try their other sandwiches another time…

The Sichuan chicken sandwich is hands down the best!!! We arrived right at 11:00 and enjoyed ultra crunchy, savory, and juicy burgers/sandwiches in 10 minutes! My daughters had the belly burger and wolfed them down. You have to get the tater tots! It’s delicious!

I was extremely excited to try this place out since they opened. The chicken sandwich was enormous with exceptional flavors. Spiciness was more mild than hot for me but with the extra sauce I ordered it was fine. I had to remove some of the extra batter as that part was too burnt for my liking. The loaded tots were good. Overall I would definitely try again maybe next time I’ll dine in.

I can't stop going here! All their tacos are awesome, but expensive. Premium tacos at a premium price. Order a fajita taco and you will get strips of meat in it. They don't skimp on their ingredients. They're open at 7 am and serve lunch tacos as soon as they open. This is a super plus. I don't really like egg tacos and love getting pastor in the morning. You must go here!

So my co workers and i have been going to this location a long time.. tacos have always been very sizable and good. We know not to go between 12pm and 1pm because the service and tacos are not the same. They are much much smaller and the line is going to be long. I was having a "last resort " Friday so I got in line around 12:30pm. The taco was so small with barely any meat on it, that I had to go back and show them... the crazy is part of their brand is making sure the tacos have a sizeable amount of meat in them. But hese are not the same tacos! Lol.. I think this is a good business, just not consistent and not between 12pm and 1:30pm. Try them at 2 or 2 30 and the difference is obvious

I’ve been going here for over one year and I order specific items do to my health and diet restrictions. So I understand how the restaurant might find this situation challenging. Yesterday they messed my order up and I kindly took it back and they started to remake it. Everything was ok until the last cooking my food had a major attitude about it, you could literally see how bothered she was by having to remake the food. I decided I didn’t want it because of this behavior. I don’t want anyone with bad energy making my food. She was acting like this was my fault! So today I went to go order some food and the manager came and told me that they can’t serve me no more that nobody wants to cook for me. Ok, by… I guess the cooks run this business and turn the customer away like they’re the ones in the wrong!

I had two breakfast tacos. They were massive. I ended up eating one for breakfast and one three hours later. The filling was very good. Good egg, good vegetables, good meat. The tortilla was solid as well. I now know of a place in the tunnels for when I'm stuck in downtown Houston.

Common Bond Bistro & Bakery in Montrose is a charming rustic-chic cafe and bakery known for its delectable sweet pastries and seasonal savory dishes. The acclaimed chefs at Common Bond have introduced two custom-designed Valentine's Cakes, available for pre-order online until February 10th. The 'Gnome Matter What' Cake features handcrafted fondant gnomes and comes in various flavors, while the Cupid's Heart Cake with buttercream frosting is perfect for a romantic celebration.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 / 5 (My Rating) Visit Common Bond Bistro & Bakery (Montrose) absolutely delivered. We left STUFFED and happy. Pastries We started with a kouign-amann (basically an upside-down croissant) and it was AMAZING!!flaky, caramelized, buttery perfection. We also had the Raspberry Chocolate Chip Muffin and my wife absolutely loved it. Brunch: We split the Eggs Benedict and the portion was HUGE. The hollandaise was perfect and the egg was cooked just right. Drinks I had the Morning Bun Latte which somehow hit that perfect sweet spot. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee. To top it off, my wife’s Pumpkin Spice Latte was literally better than Starbucks, she said it came sweet and with the right amount of pumpkin 🎃 . Service The woman greeted us at the pastry counter was so sweet and patient. However, the male cashier made us feel a bit rushed even though there wasn’t a line, which took a little shine off the experience. Overall Food and drinks were AMAZING, portions were HUGE, and we’re definitely coming back. If not for feeling rushed at checkout, this would be a perfect score. P.S. They also don’t give you dining in glasses if you order a large coffee, you have to ask for it separately. Which is no problem, just a heads up 😎

The place looks nice, the food looks so beautiful but some of them looked better than they tasted. The flatbread we got was pretty good as were the fries, the kids loved them. The sweets that we got were kinda bland. I personally liked the almond croissant and coconut macaroon. Parking is limited but we were able to get a spot fairly fast. Tables inside were small and the chairs uncomfortable, but if you’re just sitting down for a quick meal they’re fine. I’d expect them to be bad for people who were planning on staying and working from here.

This was our first time visiting, and while the experience ended on a high note, it didn’t start that way. We had a few questions about the menu, and unfortunately, our barista’s attitude was surprisingly dismissive. When I asked about the white chocolate mocha, she curtly replied, “This isn’t Starbucks.” The audacity! I politely explained that I was a first-time guest—and also a local food guide—and her demeanor shifted immediately. Thankfully, a more experienced staff member stepped in and took over our order. She was incredibly attentive, making sure our coffee was not only delicious but beautifully presented. She even went the extra mile to ensure our pastry was freshly made and photo-ready. To be completely honest, the coffee and pastry were outstanding—worth every sip and bite. My only recommendation for the management team would be to reinforce the importance of customer service. First impressions matter, and you never know who’s walking through the door or what their reason for visiting might be. That said, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. I’ll be back!

Here’s a polished and heartfelt 5-star Google Maps review for Common Bond Coffee & Bakery, with a special shoutout to Ms. Ariam: ★★★★★ Amazing Bakery with Incredible Service! My first visit to Common Bond Coffee & Bakery was an absolute delight, thanks in large part to Ms. Ariam! As first-timers, we were a little unsure what to order, but she was so patient, kind, and gave us fantastic recommendations. Her warmth and professionalism made the experience even better. We tried the **Kouign-Amann** and **Cranberry Orange Scone**—both were absolutely amazing! The Kouign-Amann was buttery, flaky, and perfectly caramelized, while the scone had the ideal balance of tart cranberry and zesty orange. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service from Ms. Ariam and the team truly stood out. Can’t wait to come back and try more treats! Highly recommend this place.

Would recommend and love to come again! I came for breakfast at around 9:30 during a weekend - not crowded. The shakshuka crossiant is a special dish: a bowl-shaped crossiant, with a running egg and tomato-based sause inside. Very tasty even for me who is not a fan of tomato-flavored dishes. It's like a pasta but with crossiant instead. The bottom of the crossiant won't be crispy because of the gravy inside, but it still tastes well with its buttery flavor. Kouign Amann is crispy and reasonable in sweetness. Matcha latte is great - there is a bit of sweetness instead of a strongly bitter matcha flavor, but the sweetness is not strong and just right.

Central Market is a vibrant hub for food lovers, offering an impressive selection of gourmet vegetables, meats, and wines. This expansive space also features an inviting in-house café where visitors can enjoy delicious bites while soaking in the lively atmosphere filled with food events and live music. Recognized by Bon Appétit as one of the top regional supermarket chains, it’s a favorite among Houstonians who appreciate quality ingredients and community connections.
Absolutely love everything about Central Market! Visiting during weekend lunchtime always feels like an adventure—there’s so much to explore. The food is consistently fresh, the staff is friendly, and the store is always clean and well-maintained. The cafeteria seating area could benefit from a bit more attention during peak hours, but with the constant flow of guests, it’s understandable and still well-managed overall. From the expansive salad bar and comforting soup options to the cozy coffee shop, sushi bar, vibrant floral selections, and a wide variety of freshly cooked meals—there’s something for everyone. Our favorite, though, is the incredible sandwich bar, offering delicious choices for all ages. The overall atmosphere is warm and inviting. I just wish there were more locations nearby! The only downside we’ve experienced is the sandwich line on weekends—it can get quite long, sometimes taking up to 30 minutes despite having plenty of staff. Hopefully, they’ll find a way to improve the flow, but even with the wait, it’s well worth it.

Big thanks to Elham at Central Market for helping me find the chicken salad today — the section had been reorganized, and she was so sweet, helpful, and kind the entire time! I also want to shout out Miriam , Corina, and Valeria at checkout, who was just as lovely and made the whole experience even better. I had a meeting to get to and was hoping to be in and out quickly — and thanks to their help, I was out in under 7 minutes. They were positive, attentive, and made me feel genuinely cared for. It didn’t feel like I was bothering them at all — just great customer service from start to finish. This might’ve been my first visit to this location (hard to keep track with how many Central Markets I’ve been to!), but it’s definitely the one I’ll return to. **Central Market Cafe** I didn’t grocery shop, only used the CAFE. It’s a maze, kind of reminds me of IKEA. The coffee was amazing, ordering was quick and easy. I ordered an iced vanilla latte. Staff were polite and baked goods smelled delicious.

Clean, well organized, variety of goods to choose from, good prices, exclusive in Texas, can’t think of something more special than this! Makes my grocery run fun than ever! They even have fresh truffle and huge collection of mushrooms by which I’m impressed.

Central Market is so much more than a gourmet grocery store. It is a community builder! We attended the Houston Cooking School upstairs for a Mexican Dinner featuring culinary professional, author, and entrepreneur Sylvia Casares. What a inspiration! If you have an opportunity, go by and fill your soul as well as your tummy.

Today we bought salads at the salad bar, and the experience was terrible. The staff was very unprofessional — one of them even put his hand in the sauce! They also gave me only half portions and were extremely rude when I asked about it. Very disappointing and unhygienic service. We will not be coming back!

I wanted to share my incredibly positive experience at the Central Market in Houston. I'm a daily customer, and the quality of both the food and the service is consistently exceptional. The food at the chef station is always fresh and tastes fantastic. Even with a constantly busy line, the team works incredibly hard and maintains a pleasant and cheerful attitude. I especially want to commend Aaliyah, who works at the chef station. She is consistently kind, helpful, and never seems bothered by my many questions. Her dedication and positive demeanor truly stand out and make every visit a pleasure. I always make sure to tip the team because they genuinely deserve it for their hard work and excellent service.

Incredible food, incredible service by Sam and Christina, and INCREDIBLE live entertainment by the band. I was in town for a convention and will definitely come back next time I'm in Houston. The scallops are delicious!

I came here to celebrate my birthday which happens to fall on New Year’s Eve. The service was wonderful and everything we ordered from food to drinks came out perfect in a timely manner. When I originally booked we were given a time limit but on the actual day we weren’t rushed out and ended up being there past that time limit. Possibly because it was slow during this time and we were set up in the bar area but it was nice to take our time to eat and order. My cocktail of choice was a lemon drop made with Don Julio blanco. I specifically ordered the Ribeye (cut in half is sausage this big hunk of meat with my sister) cooked medium which is always cooked to perfection. For my sides I had the augratin potatoes, crab fried rice, lobster mashed and truffle mac! All were good per usual except the lobster mashed it was not the same as the other location, it lacked seasoning and was less cheesy as usual. They brought out my birthday cake and complimentary banana foster cake with a beautiful birthday wish written on each! Loved this and the banana foster cake was huge compared to what I usually get! I loved they had a new years photo op outside I took advantage of using. Thank you guys for making my birthday special and accommodating my party size for my special day! Truly means a lot especially since the other location was not willing to accommodate. I always choose Eddie V’s to celebrate my birthday every year as they never disappoint and our my favorite steakhouse in Houston. Thanks again.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood in Houston was the perfect setting for a much-needed dinner outing in March. I wanted something a bit upscale, with a relaxing atmosphere and a menu that leaned into the ocean—and Eddie V’s delivered. The energy of the restaurant was vibrant yet intimate, and the service stood out from the moment I walked in. I went to the Kirby location. To kick things off, I started with the oysters. Fresh, briny, and beautifully presented, they were a refreshing way to open the evening. Served chilled on a bed of ice with classic accompaniments, they disappeared from the table faster than I expected. I would absolutely order them again. Next, I moved on to the yellowtail. Light, clean, and subtly buttery, it was a standout appetizer for me. The yellowtail had just the right balance of citrus and salt, complemented by the delicate plating that made it as beautiful as it was flavorful. For the main course, I went with their signature Chilean Sea Bass, and I can't recommend it enough. It was perfectly cooked—silky on the inside with a caramelized miso glaze that added a savory richness to every bite. It came served over a bed of lightly sautéed vegetables that brought the dish together nicely. This was, hands down, my favorite part of the night. I didn’t have dessert this time, but honestly, I didn’t need to. The flow of the meal and the depth of flavor in each course left me more than satisfied. The team at Eddie V’s made sure the night went smoothly from start to finish. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, and I never felt rushed. He also offered me a complimentary glass of champagne; which was nice. All in all, Eddie V’s provided a classy yet approachable seafood experience. Whether you’re a Houston local or just visiting, I recommend making a reservation and treating yourself to their sea bass. It's a dish I’ll be thinking about for a while.

I arrived alone at Eddie V’s 2 hours before closing. I mentioned that it was my 65th birthday that day. I didn’t have reservations, just looking for a place with good food and jazz music. The live jazz music was great. Very soothing. I was treated like a queen. The manager escorted me to a nice table, wishing me a happy birthday. He immediately put a happy birthday card on my table and treated me to a drink. It was sooo delicious as was the food. I had a salmon dish. The prices are very reasonable. But no, it didn’t end there. I was treated to a delicious dessert that had happy birthday written on the plate in chocolate, 3 small desserts, one with small flames coming from it. The customer service was top tier. The vibe was awesome!!!! I can’t thank them enough for making my birthday special. I was alone but I didn’t feel Alone. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be a return customer.

This is perfect for GNO, Date Night, Business Meals or just to treat yourself. I've been several times when they first came to Houston. My BFF wanted a crabcake so we met up for a quick visit. We went on a Thursday night and there was live music!! Im a huge fan of an adult vibe. We sat at the bar and had the best time. Dress code: Nothing less than Smart Casual. I saw lots of sports coats (men), cute dresses (women), but there were some casual looks. No athletic wear was spotted. I worse a white linen button down with black jeans and a heeled sandal. Atmosphere: Dimmed lightning throughout the entire restaurant. Price: You get what you pay for LOL. If this is a first date, you will make a great impression! Food: Crabcake, crabcake, crabcake!!!

Dear Darden Guest Relations Team, I am writing to formally report a serious food safety incident that occurred at Eddie V’s River Oaks (2800 Kirby Dr, Houston, TX) on Saturday, October 4th, 2025. A client and I arrived for dinner at approximately 8:30 PM. I have long been a loyal Eddie V’s guest and even hosted my 40th birthday celebration in your private dining room, which was an exceptional experience. That level of quality and service is why I felt confident selecting your restaurant again for an elegant evening with a client. During our visit, we ordered the Chilean sea bass, steak tartare, and lamb chops (medium well), along with lobster mac and cheese to share. While the meal and service initially met your usual standards, both my guest and I became severely ill later that night, exhibiting symptoms consistent with foodborne illness. The symptoms were so serious that we each ended up sleeping on our respective bathroom floors — and I ultimately spent my birthday, October 5th, sick. My dining companion is a licensed nurse practitioner, and after consulting with a physician, we both received medical advice confirming that our symptoms were highly indicative of food poisoning. Following the incident, I contacted the restaurant to alert management. The General Manager returned my call, but his tone was unprofessional and condescending, repeatedly asking if I “needed medical attention.” He indicated he would follow up on Monday but did not do so until Tuesday, again maintaining the same dismissive tone. Please note that when I called I was not requesting a refund. My purpose in contacting you is to ensure this matter receives the appropriate level of attention and review. Given that medical advice was sought and that one of the affected parties is a healthcare professional, I believe a comprehensive food safety investigation at that location is warranted. Out of respect for the brand and in the interest of resolving this directly, I have not yet reported the incident to the Houston Health Department. However, I do expect Darden’s corporate team to address this promptly and professionally. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. I would appreciate a response confirming receipt of this email and outlining the next steps in your review process.

This was by far the worst Eddie V’s that I have visit. From start to finish. We arrived with our party of 8 5 minutes early for our reservation and waited 20 minutes to be seated. We sat down and was not even asked what kind of water that we preferred. Just poured purified water gross! The waiter came over and did not introduce himself (Roger) he just walked over and said “I’m ready to take your order when you are”. We were confused. Do you want our drink orders, appetizer order or full order, what are the specials, what do you recommend on the menu?? Very unwelcoming. His service was so pathetic, that I don’t even want to talk about it. We saw the manager asking every table how their experience was going. Instead he looked at us and turned around. My teenagers were brought their drinks out in plastic cups. I became very confused about that also. All food came out cold the plate was cold to touch. Steaks were not cooked correctly. No one asked and we are not a complaining family to send back things, but it would has been nice to even ask. We were not asked if we were celebrating anything. I have been to Eddie Vs all over the US. Superb service everytime. This was our 1st and last time visiting this location. We will give the other Houston location a chance.

Fung's Kitchen is a renowned Chinese restaurant in Houston, known for its extensive menu and traditional Cantonese cuisine. After recovering from fire damage, the restaurant has made a triumphant return, offering a delightful dining experience. The family-owned establishment has been serving classic dishes since the 1980s, with Chef Hoi and his wife Nancy at the helm.
I had the pleasure of dining at Fung’s Kitchen recently, and the highlight of the experience—aside from the delicious dim sum—was the outstanding service from our server, Sharon. From the moment we were seated, Sharon was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. She navigated the busy dining room with ease but never made us feel rushed. She gave excellent recommendations, especially for first-time visitors unsure of what to try. Her suggestions for the Shao Mai Shrimp & Pork Dumplings and oysters were spot on. What really stood out was her professionalism paired with a genuine warmth. She complimented us, kept our tea refilled without being asked, and even noticed a dietary preference in our group, making sure to suggest dishes accordingly. In a restaurant as popular and bustling as Fung’s Kitchen, it’s easy for service to feel impersonal—but not with Sharon. She made us feel welcome and valued, and her upbeat attitude added so much to our meal. Highly recommend requesting Sharon if you visit Fung’s Kitchen. She truly elevates the dining experience. Thank you!

We hasn't even sat down before we were offered food. We had a fantastic time. After tip between seven people it was only about $35/pp which was great. We all got to have some favorites and try new things. The egg yolk buns were incredible. The service was outstanding. Can't wait to go back!

Fung's Kitchen is honestly a Houston staple! It's been around forever for a reason. The food is always consistently delicious. Seafood is a specialty here and their chefs can cook it any way you like. The interior is huge so it's great for large parties. Order family style to try a little bit of everything, enjoy! Their garlic snow pea leaves and salt toasted squid are some of the best in the city!

Food is always great here, fresh live seafood, and many options. On the pricy side but still acceptable. We came in on a Sat. Night, place is packed, we have total 7 people which we were clearing one plate at a time, and had to wait for other dishes for a while, this experience is not ideal, we would prefer to have at least 2-3 dishes served at once at least.
Lu M — Google review
We went here for Dim Sum. This place was ok in terms of food. The steam bean curd rolls did not taste very good. Black bean steam pork was more fat than meat. Don’t get the soup dumplings cause the texture of the meat was loose with no flavor. Lastly, the egg tarts are more crust than egg tart filling. However, I love the fried shrimp balls, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, chicken feet and Ha Gow was great. The price was expensive. Don’t think will be coming back. The people serving us our food were very attentive and helpful. Atmosphere was clean and the people are polite. Just wish the food would be better.

The service was superb. This is a huge restaurant. The waitress told me that they can take care more than 500 people dining in at the same time. 😱the food was amazing. I love love love the crispy taro dumplings. All other dim sum plates were great except the chashao bao. We don’t like too much fillers inside. Anyway, it is just personal preference. Will visit again. Highly recommend.

My son drug me here, really glad he did, great beer, food and atmosphere. The only thing i'd do different would be have more food trucks on site, the 3 that were there the day we went were very good. We shared a plate of slab fries...waffle cut...with lots of toppings, and a Cuban sammy done right from Eatsie Boys. We shared a half pound of tender delectable pork ribs and a half pound of moist end brisket that was very tender, lots of flavor and nice bark, made by Buck's BBQ. You can sample the beers they have on tap, when you have great product like they do, free samples will sell it. I enjoyed a coffee beer concoction that was very nice, my son had another great beer which i'd sampled too, it's name shall remain nameless 'cause I can't remember....I'm not much of a beer guy but places like this may change that.

Pretty rad spot to hang out for a quick beer and a bite - they’ve got food trucks all the time it seems. It’s in a very central location and the surrounding area is very walkable with a decent amount of stuff to see. The beer was solid and there was quite a bit of outdoor activities available at the time too - great for families with kids.

Very cool interior with a chill outdoor area. They’ve got games around the brewery and drinks are fantastic. If you go out the back, there’s plenty of seating and cool spots to take some photos. Love the sculptures and the We Love Houston sign. Now for my standard comments. Interior is kept clean and seating is comfortable. Outdoor seating is pretty big as well.

Cafe Brasil has been one of my favorite spots in Houston for a long time. I’ve been coming here since my college days back in 2007, and it’s still just as good now as it was then. On my recent visit with my family, it reminded me why this place has stood the test of time for me. The food is consistently excellent no matter what time of day you come. Breakfast is always fresh and hearty, lunch hits the spot, dinner is flavorful, and the desserts and treats are absolutely worth saving room for. Everything is cooked with care and comes out tasting just right. The space itself is one of the things I love most. It has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with great ambience, and it’s the kind of place where you can sit down with friends, family, or even solo and feel comfortable. The service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. Pho Saigon is a popular Vietnamese eatery located in Houston, known for its delicious beef noodle soups and classic Vietnamese dishes. Run by Phuong Tran and his wife Rosie, the restaurant has gained a reputation for its authentic flavors and homemade meat and bone broth. The pho tai, a beef noodle soup with rare beef, is a crowd favorite. Despite being busy most nights, solo diners can usually find a table quickly due to the fast turnover.
Came in for lunch and were seated immediately. Appetizers came out quickly, and the phô soon after. All of the food was fantastic! Very flavorful, and the broth was not sweet like some variations. I was impressed with all of the options on the menu. There are a few things that most other Vietnamese establishments do not offer in the states. I wish I had tried one of them but we were in the mood for phô. I did not like that the water came in metallic cups, but that detail is negligible.

I got the hill snow in chocolate 🍫it was delicious and enough for two people. Only dropping points because this place is very obviously dirty. All the seats have stains, the mirrors, and the legs of the tables. When we left one of the employees did clean our table. It seems there just needs to be more attention to those spots by management to let employees know.

This was my first time eating shaved ice and was I in for an experience or what! The ice itself(I chose the green tea flavour) was delicate and refreshing. It was neither too dense, nor too sweet. I could have sworn it was simply a cup of well made, icy, green tea. The toppings (lychee poppers, mango jelly, mango poppers) were fresh and light! What can I say, a few bites in & I was levitating!

Les Givral's is a cash-only Vietnamese eatery that specializes in banh mi sandwiches. The food here is super spicy and crunchy, and you'll be able to find some great protein options, like chargrill-meatball and chargrill-barbecue pork with pate. You can also get rice sheets with veggies and protein if you're feeling really hungry, or go for the beef fried rice if you're looking for something more substantial.
The perfect cheap eats I drive by here at least a few times a week and finally today made the stop. And I was delighted. The food is simply but tasty. As you walk in, the spring rolls are packed for choosing. If you are fancy the fried spring roll they are on the corner of the display case. The selection is great range from chicken/pork to tofu. If you want a true Asian spring roll the 3-pack (can remember what it is called) that has Asian cured sausage, egg, dried shrimp, is the best. Food selection is great. Be aware the quantity is Texasized: massive. All for 6 to 7 dollars which is quite fantastic. Bun mi here is very tasty, although no beef option. One thing I highly recommend is tofu anything here. In general tofu dishes are bland but the tofu here is seasoned so you taste it. Happy eating!

Just wow. Can’t believe sandwiches as amazing as these exist in Texas. The banh mi are prepared on crispy, fresh baguettes, with the crunchiest of veggies and tender, flavorful pork. We came here for lunch just about 30 minutes after opening but the line was already long. However it’s moving fast. Most customers just ordered to-go instead of dine-in. Their price is very cheap and even cheaper than in Vietnamese town in Bellaire. All dishes are very delicious and huge. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try Vietnamese food.

Very chill place, food is great and there is usually a short wait. Their sandwiches are very savory and filling, but their coffee is a tad bit too sour. Their soda machine is just a paper weight but at least they have various drink offerings from a fridge nearby. Definitely a place for a quick cheap lunch. Update June 2018: I keep coming back here often. It’s always good and they cleaned up the place a bit. They finally took the soda machine out!

The bo bia was delicious, not like my mom but still very delicious. I was actually so full after that I couldn't eat my banh mi dac biet. I left with that and a roasted pork with pate for consumption later in the day. Oh, and the Vietnamese iced coffee is great here!

So affordable we literally did a double take looking between the food on the tables and the prices on the menu. Yes, you'll be full of great, simple Vietnamese food for $5. It's nothing new or groundbreaking, but for healthy food and massive portions you can't go wrong here.

Love every element of Les Givral’s :) Had to try all three banh mis: shredded chicken, tofu, bbq pork. Tofu is a good veggie option. Pork was a bit salty. Chicken was soft and well marinated.

Barnaby's Cafe is a unique local chain that offers creative American diner eats to its neighborhood clientele. The cafe is known for its colossal breakfast burritos and buttermilk stacks, as well as European-inspired fare at Bistro Menil. Other nearby options include Vibrant for healthy breakfast choices, The Hay Merchant for Bananas Foster pancakes and pecan-smoked pork breakfast skillets, and Brasil Cafe for brunch plates on the back patio.
Barnaby’s Café is a cozy, vibrant spot with a welcoming atmosphere and great service. The food is consistently fresh and flavorful, with generous portions and vegetarian-friendly options. Their burgers, salads, and brunch dishes are standouts, and the desserts are a must-try. The colorful décor and dog-friendly patios add to its charm. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Barnaby’s always delivers a satisfying experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a casual yet delicious meal in a relaxed setting.

Barnaby's has been one of our favs for a long time. You can always count on their hamburgers. I had a guacamole burger and my daughter had the blue cheese burger. Both burgers were ordered medium and came out perfect, so big I could hardly eat mine. We both had sweet potato fries, which came out as a huge mound, so crispy and tasty. We split a plate of the Hawaiian pork chops with regular fries between them. Those pork chops were so flavorful. With all that said, we save our trip to Barnaby's for a special occasion. The order added up quickly. There are areas in the restaurant that look like a group of eight could sit, but I would call ahead or eat at a less popular time. We arrived at about 1:30 or 2:00 PM. We had our choice of seating and there was only 4 of us. When they are crowded the noise level can naturally rise. We came after lunch and it was so quiet.

We enjoy coming here because everyone gets what they want. Menu has tons of options and portions are big. Best sweet potato fries ever!!! Place is not big and the air sometimes seems like it’s not working but we still enjoy the food.

I love Barnaby's! Just moved to the area and came through a few times! They have happy hour and kids eat free on Wednesdays with and adult meal purchase. My children and their friends enjoyed the food and there is patio dining available. Great place for the family or for a date or business lunch.

Serious Cleanliness Concerns – Disappointing First Visit We visited this Barnabie’s location for the first time on Mother’s Day, expecting a special experience. While dining, we witnessed a cockroach crawling toward our table from the kitchen, which the waitress had to step on. When we brought it to the manager’s attention, she nonchalantly explained that there’s a “roach tree” out back, and the roaches just come in and out—but they do exterminate. That level of casualness about a serious cleanliness issue is unacceptable and honestly disturbing. Adding to the disappointment, our waiter forgot to put in our order, so we waited 30 to 45 minutes for our food. When it finally arrived, my mother’s burger was burnt. The service, cleanliness, and food quality were far below expectations—especially on a day meant to feel special. The presence of cockroaches and how it was handled deserves to be taken seriously and discussed more openly. This was not just an off day; it reflects a much deeper issue that needs to be addressed. We won’t be returning to this location. Click on picture below of shoe to see the roach that came from the kitchen

Reasonable pricing. I got the waffle fries with blue cheese fondue and the sliders with spicy bacon jam, very tasty. I asked for extra bacon jam expecting them to charge me a few dollars more but no extra charge, which was nice. Server was really nice and conversational but not too conservational.

Barnaby’s is a great place in Houston! The portions are huge — easily enough to share between two people, which makes it a great value. The food is consistently fresh and flavorful, with a wide variety of options to suit any craving. The only draw back was that i found the chicken fried steak a bit greasy. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. Even during busy hours, the vibe is upbeat without feeling overwhelming. Another big plus: there’s plenty of off-street parking, which makes getting in and out super convenient — a rarity in Houston! Definitely recommend if you're looking for generous portions, a fun environment, and good service.

Neighborhood resto that serves excellent salads and entrees. Friendly service and a bit noisy for weekend lunch but still enjoyed the service and food.
