Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, located within Memorial Park, is a 155-acre urban oasis offering free access to nature trails, botanical gardens, and diverse ecosystems. Established in the 1950s, this nonprofit center features over five miles of walking trails that wind through forests, meadows, and ponds where visitors can observe local wildlife. I absolutely love visiting this Park! The walking trails are clean and well-maintained, and the playground is perfect for kids. There are plenty of shaded areas to relax and enjoy a picnic, and the lake adds a peaceful touch. It’s a great place to spend a weekend with family or friends.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Houston Arboretum is a hidden gem and the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s incredibly peaceful and surrounded by beautiful wildflowers and trees in every direction. The trails are well-maintained and great for hiking or a relaxing walk. Wow! We had no idea this was such a hidden gem. Beautiful way to start the day surrounded by the nature of Houston. We will definitely bring the kids back to enjoy all the beautiful flowers and butterflies. Plus the fun climbing structures and museum to explore will be perfect for the family too.
Jake S — Google review
A beautiful location for a maternity session! Im @momentsdearphotography on IG. We had no issues with mosquitos or bugs, the center was scenic and beautiful. It was quiet and there was no trash. It was the second time i had been here (the first time for a photography session) and i loved it each time!
Rhanda C — Google review
Is a pretty place to feel connected with the nature. The trail was in condition to walk or run even with a stroller and the playground was incredibly for kids of all ages.
Jennifer F — Google review
Although there are beautiful plants the Arboretum doesn’t live up to the hype. It is a very tranquil place to take a walk but not many plants to see.
Kim H — Google review
We're on a business trip and just happen to be across the street so we visited. It was a really amazing place and great for taking walks. We saw various wildlife but did not do any of the things in the buildings.

Went for the pumpkin plotter event and the whole event was so fun and informative! Took a walk afterwards through the trails and they’re so well kept and beautiful.

Kemah Boardwalk is a family-friendly amusement park featuring classic rides such as a wooden roller coaster and a two-story carousel. Located near Kemah Boardwalk Marina, visitors can capture picturesque scenes of various vessels, from yachts to fishing boats. The boardwalk comes alive at night with vibrant lights and thrilling attractions like roller coasters and Ferris wheels, making it an ideal setting for photography enthusiasts to experiment with low-light or long-exposure shots.
Wonderful Octoberfest with kids and families showing up around 2. It was much less crowded around 12. The $28 dollar wrist band is great if you are just riding. Not all of our party rode rides, so it is very nice not having to buy a full ticket price. Offers a lot of games, etc. love being able to sit next to the canal and watching the boats drive by before they enter the bay. There are lots of seats, but do wish they had more in the shade. Several great restaurants with a few snack food trucks on the boardwalk.
Rebecca F — Google review
This amusement park is beautifully designed and located right by the sea, which gives it a unique and relaxing atmosphere. The whole park has a strong Spanish character, which adds to its charm and authenticity. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, offering a variety of food options — and many with great views. The rides and attractions are a lot of fun, well-maintained, and offer something for all ages. Whether you’re into adrenaline-pumping roller coasters or more relaxed experiences, there’s something here for everyone. Prices are relatively affordable, especially considering the quality and variety the park offers. All in all, a fantastic day out — fun, scenic, and very Spanish in the best way!
Michael P — Google review
Great place to spend a day with the family or a date. Lots of fun things to do and you can even get a tour in a boat 😵‍💫. They have a nice Hotel there you can stay and different restaurants with all kinds of food. The parking ticket is 15 dollars and the whole day pass was like 30 which is the best option. The roller coaster is insane 🤣 so much fun.

Kemah Boardwalk is one of the most vibrant and fun destinations along the Texas Gulf Coast. It perfectly blends great food, family entertainment, and a relaxing seaside vibe. The boardwalk is beautifully set by the water, offering stunning views, cool sea breezes, and plenty of spots to unwind or snap photos. There’s something for everyone here from thrilling rides and arcade games to waterfront dining and live music. The restaurants, especially the seafood spots, serve fresh and flavorful meals, and the overall atmosphere is always lively and welcoming. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or as a couple, Kemah Boardwalk guarantees a memorable experience filled with energy, laughter, and beautiful coastal charm. A must visit place for both locals and tourists looking for fun, good food, and a true Texas waterfront experience
Jaffer T — Google review
Kemah boardwalk is so exciting and magical. So many rides to go on. the restaurants are fabulous. we've eaten at all of them. Beast os such a high energy speed boat ride. We have to spend alone full day there everytime we go on vacation !
Mary L — Google review
While it looked like it could have been super fun back in the day there was basically nothing open and it was basically dead. We were there at about 3pm on a Friday and was surprised at everything being closed up. Stopped into the aquarium for a quick bite and it was good but otherwise disappointed.
Brittany M — Google review
Our 1st time here, personally I was quite excited. The weather afforded us cool breezes, we arrived 11:45ish for scheduled noon opening and after walking around, having lunch the rides were just opening. When we left at 1:30 there was only one shop open. Totally disappointed! Don't know if this happens on a regular basis but I don't think we'll be driving an hour for this.
Jan C — Google review
Kemah Boardwalk is a perfect family-friendly destination packed with fun and entertainment for all ages! From live music to exciting acrobatic shows, there’s always something happening. Enjoy one of the best dining experiences by the beach, with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Kids will love the carnival rides, splash pad during the summer, and the charming train that circles the boardwalk and even passes through some restaurants. Parking is paid, and weekends tend to get busy—so plan ahead!

Nature & Parks
Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park is home to a remarkable 64-foot semi-circular fountain, often described as a waterwall, located in the Uptown/Galleria area of Houston. This iconic sculpture recirculates an impressive 11,000 gallons of water per minute and has been a beloved attraction since its establishment in 1983. The park's fountain is so popular that special permits are required for events like engagements and weddings.
This is a must-see when you come to Houston. I have been to Houston many times, but I have never seen this. It will leave you in awe. It is truly amazing. It is also great to cool you off on a hot day. There were tons of people there on the Saturday that we went. Lost of photos were being taken. I was very amazed by the water feature.
Jana H — Google review
Nothing about Houston makes sense! This beautiful attraction is the only attraction to see for miles. Houston must be so large that they sprinkle a little art all around. Luckily this was just a short walk from our hotel. It draws a lot of visitors. I loved to see the diverse crowd that gathered for photos. Be careful though, there isn’t a place to park. The tow truck was hovering and almost towed a car.
T H — Google review
One of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve ever seen inside the city of Houston. The design and atmosphere are truly stunning, making it a perfect place to relax or take photos. This park also holds a lot of good memories for me, which makes it even more special. A must-visit spot if you’re in Houston.
Sunroof K — Google review
Absolutely a pleasure to be standing near the mist of water. The place is a quick 5min walk from Galleria mall which has ample parking space.
Rajiv P — Google review
This place is breathtaking! You get to see a huge wall of cascading water that is awe-inspiring. This is located near the Galleria. This iconic Houston landmark is most likely the best thing one could put inside of a city.

Love this place. So peaceful when u visit this early in the morning so there won't be a any crowd. Plan ahead for photos you can definitely have few nice pics.

Buffalo Bayou Park is a sprawling 160-acre green space that offers stunning views of the Houston skyline. The park features a variety of attractions, including hike and bike trails along the bayou, captivating art installations, and outdoor activity spaces such as Eleanor Tinsley Park and the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food and drinks at The Dunlavy, a chandelier-lit kitchen and bar within the park.
Lots to do clean and fun loved the Japanese gardens and walking path was easy to follow and navigate for a first time. Can go back so much more to enjoy. The wild life was fun and safe to be around.

One of Houston’s best spots, hands down. Great trails, skyline views, art, and just the right mix of city and nature. Perfect for a run, bike ride, or chill walk. Always clean, always peaceful. Love coming back here — never gets old.
JESUS P — Google review
The See You At The Top Fleet stopped by Buffalo Bayou Park. one of the best places to unwind in Houston. The views of the downtown skyline are incredible, especially at sunrise or sunset. The trails are wide, clean, and perfect for walking, biking, or just taking a moment to recharge. Between the Nature Play Area, the Johnny Steele Dog Park, and the Cistern, there’s something for everyone here. A real Houston gem that blends nature, art, and community in one beautiful space. SEE YOU AT THE TOP 🚀

This is one of my favorite parks. It's large, and you can do many activities like walking, running, and biking. You can go alone or with someone, with your family or friends who play sports. You can also do more outdoor activities like picnicking, playing volleyball, or fishing. It's a beautiful place in downtown Houston. I highly recommend it.
Karla P — Google review
Buffalo Bayou Park is a great park. They have trails for walking and biking. Several large grassy areas to hang out. An awesome dog park. Great people watching. The Waugh Drive Bridge has a cool bat colony that I have watched several times. It's super fun to see them drop from under the bridge and fly out into the evening sky. A little bit of sensory overwhelm, but it's definitely worth watching at least once. I do wish there were a few more restrooms throughout. But I made it work. Parking can be a challenge as well, but I have been lucky every time I have gone.
Ashlee S — Google review
One of the best spots in Houston for walking and relaxing. The trails are well-maintained, with amazing views of the skyline and plenty of greenery. Perfect for a morning jog or evening stroll. I love how peaceful it feels even though it’s near downtown. Great mix of nature, art, and open space.
Yuval C — Google review
Great Park, although its more of a trail. Good lighting at night. Only problem is that sometimes the footpath and the bike path aren't seperated and also that the footpaths aren't big enough for the amount of traffic this gets, you can clearly see the path of dead grass on the sides people keep walking there cuz the footpaths aren't big enough
ShadowFox — Google review
Excelent place to run or bike by the Bayou. The trails are well maintained and there is also security cart riding around.

Park
McGovern Centennial Gardens, located in Hermann Park's northeast end, spans 8 acres and offers a variety of themed gardens, a sculpture promenade, and a 30-foot mount providing stunning city views. The site was established in 2014 to commemorate the park's centennial anniversary and features distinct areas such as the rose garden, arid garden, woodlands garden, and community garden producing seasonal vegetables and fruit trees. Visitors can also enjoy the spacious Centennial Green lawn.
Omgosh where do I begin. This place is like a sanctuary for those looking for peace and natures beauty. I’ve found nice shaded spots to lay out in the grass and just exist for a little while. I absolutely love the waterfall and fountains. The rose garden is breathtaking during this time of year (Spring) and the community garden is blooming beautifully as well. I enjoy slow strolls around this place whether by myself or with friends.
Nicosia M — Google review
McGovern Centennial Gardens is a wonderful escape in the city. The lush lawns, striking pavilion, and peaceful water features create a stunning atmosphere. Shady oak trees, colorful flowers, and winding garden paths make it perfect for a relaxing stroll. The inspiring Mahatma Gandhi statue adds a thoughtful touch. Overall, it’s a beautiful, serene spot worth visiting.
Antonio B — Google review
McGovern Centennial Gardens is such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit! It honestly feels like stepping into a little hidden paradise right in the middle of the city. The gardens are always so well kept — the flowers, greenery, and walking paths are spotless and full of color. Every time I go, I notice something new blooming or a different part of the park that catches my eye. The main hill with the spiral walkway is one of my favorite parts — it’s such a relaxing walk up, and once you reach the top, the view of the gardens and downtown Houston is amazing. It’s the perfect spot for photos, quiet reflection, or just to sit and enjoy nature. The whole park feels calm, safe, and family-friendly. There are areas where you can sit and enjoy a picnic, and it’s a great spot for couples, kids, or even just solo walks to clear your mind. I also love how connected it is to Hermann Park — you can easily spend a few hours exploring both. It’s one of those places that reminds you to slow down and appreciate simple beauty. Every visit leaves me feeling refreshed and happy. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape or a scenic place to take pictures and enjoy nature!
Vee R — Google review
A beautiful park, even when Google says it’s “as busy as it gets.“ lots of activities for kids, snacks, and sitting here it is for families to be. Parking was a bit difficult, but again it was a busy afternoon. The wedding reception was BEAUTIFUL at sunset. I highly recommend a visit either for an event or a day of fu!
Emma W — Google review
McGovern Centennial Gardens is one of those spots that instantly lifts your mood. The spiral hill is stunning, the flowers are perfectly curated, and every path feels like a little escape from the city. It’s peaceful, well-kept, and free — which honestly feels like a small miracle these days. Great for a stroll, a picnic, or just a reset from the daily chaos. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a breath of fresh air… literally and figuratively.
JESUS P — Google review
McGovern Centennial Gardens is a beautiful place for a peaceful walk. The landscaping is very well maintained, and the pathways are easy to stroll through while enjoying the different garden sections. It feels calm and relaxing, with lots of greenery and open space to slow down and just enjoy the surroundings. A lovely spot to unwind, spend time outdoors, and take in the scenery.

Beautiful garden with stunning flowers and trails. Dogs on leash are welcome. The hours are not very convenient especially if you want to go early morning or late evening to stay out of the sun.

Park
Hermann Park, located in Houston, Texas, is a sprawling 445-acre urban park known for its diverse attractions and activities. Established in 1914, it is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the city. The park features a golf course, Japanese garden, natural science museum, kiddie train rides, and the Sam Houston monument. Visitors can explore the renowned Houston Zoo within the park's grounds as well. Other highlights include Miller Outdoor Theatre and McGovern Centennial Garden.
The commons playground at Hermann Park is so lovely. There are plenty of things for children to stay entertained and active. There is a water park side where children can play in the sand and pump water throughout a system. It's both fun and a learning adventure. The other side as seen in a few photos I took has lots of slides and climbing areas. As an adult I kept wandering around, climbing on areas meant for both adults and kids to climb/hike. It was fun being able to join my God children. There are also several very well maintained individual bathroom stalls on both sides of the playground. And not too far from there is a nice cafe. If you wanted to you could spend all day at this park and never get bored.
Liliia W — Google review
This is a great park. There's something for everyone here. The conservancy and Japanese gardens are stunning. Fantastic playgrounds and picnic areas. The train is $7 and is hop off, hop on all day. The zoo is an additional cost but worth it. Paddle boats are available to rent, as well. This is easily an all day destination that is worth the time.
Cindy P — Google review
I absolutely love Memorial Hermann parks — they’ve become one of our favorite places to spend time as a family. The splash pads are amazing — big, clean, and perfect for cooling off on hot days. There’s so much space for kids to run, play, and explore, and the water features keep them entertained for hours. It’s such a gem, especially if you have little ones. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already!
Mal S — Google review
This park is not just beautiful but amazing! They have everything a kid could dream of in a park. Very clean, and well made. Restrooms are very clean as well. The only bad thing is to find a parking spot available.
None O — Google review
Very clean and beautiful park. Alot of friendly birds ducks turtles bunnies squirrels etc running around. The playground and water park is amazing and very innovative. The train is handy for getting around this enormous place. a lot of clean bathrooms as well. Definitely worth a trip with the kids
D'Onna M — Google review
Beautiful park for kids and families . The toy train , Japanese garden and boat ride are highlights in a day long picnic . A thoroughly enjoyable outing in the midst of the city . We can extend it for another day by visiting Houston Zoo
Ramakrishna — Google review
Very cute park! Still have not explored the whole thing, but there were lots of clean benches and places to sit, wide paved pathways (and some gravel ones, typically narrower but still flat and maintained), and lots of turtles in the pond! We even saw some late-season baby ducks today, so cute 🦆
Joni S — Google review
I enjoyed the zoo...lots of walking my only issue is the enclosures appear quite small for such large animals.. Compared to the zoo I visited in Colorado springs this is very small.

The zoo offers engaging experiences such as daily feedings and the opportunity to interact with giraffes.
I visited the Houston Zoo and was very impressed 🌟. The territory is huge and beautifully maintained 🌳, with lots of greenery and nice walking paths 🚶‍♂️. There are truly many animals here 🐘🦒🦓, the enclosures are spacious, and it’s clear they are well cared for. I especially enjoyed watching the giraffes 🦒 and elephants 🐘. A special highlight was seeing the bald eagles 🦅 — the symbol of America 🇺🇸. There are two of them here, and they sit under the open sky, which makes the encounter even more impressive. There’s also an aquarium with marine life 🐠, an area with birds 🦜, and sections with rare species. For children, this place is a real paradise 👧🧒 — full of educational areas, games, and activities. The staff is friendly and always ready to help 🙌. The cafés and rest areas are convenient 🍔🥤, so you can grab a snack and enjoy the view. Parking is available nearby 🚗, and the location right in Hermann Park makes the zoo even more attractive. Overall, it’s one of the best zoos in the USA 🇺🇸, and I highly recommend visiting with the whole family 💯.

The Houston Zoo is a beautiful and well-kept place to visit any time of year. There’s a great variety of animals, shaded walking paths, and plenty of spots to relax or grab a snack. It’s especially perfect for families and nature lovers. Just a heads-up for winter visits — some animals may not be out due to the cold, so you might miss a few exhibits. Still, there’s always plenty to see and enjoy. We’ve been in different seasons and always have a great time! Highly recommend for a fun and educational day out in Houston.

This zoo is so nice! There is a ton of shade on the walkways, and the exhibits for the animals were pretty spacious compared to other zoos. They had drainage issues in the aquatic area when we went this past weekend so the penguin exhibit was closed unfortunately. The capybaras were definitely the highlight for me. You do need to purchase your tickets online prior.

It's a fairly decent sized zoo, there always seems to be something they're updating & maintaining. The staff is friendly & informative, there's several shady areas that help with super hot & humid days. It's not our family favorite zoo, but it is the closest and therefore we do visit several times a year. We still have not been in the children's area, so no feedback on that, but there does seem to be quite a lot under construction at this time of year. A big plus is all the beautiful landscaping which is well maintained & there always seems to be something in bloom.

Very calm and a nice place to visit with families. The zoo was maintained at all times, the food was also good inside. The lemonade was so good and it was so much compared to other portion sizes. I would always come back here for a good family time for sure.

I am not a big fan of zoos, but Houston Zoo's mission on conservation is so prominent in all that they do that the zoo felt less like a jail for animals and more like what a zoo really should be! Thank you for making my trip to Houston more memorable than it usually is! There are loads of animals to see and also loads of activities. Make sure you go early in the morning. The zoo is pretty big. We made it through in under 3 hours and made it to almost all the exhibits.

It was such a great experience! We usually don’t go to Zoos but it was fun and nice to see different type of animals that close. Also, at the beginning there is a guy who take nice photos you might try! Little elephant was my favorite.

An unforgettable family experience! The Houston Zoo is a fantastic place, perfect for families of all ages. We had a wonderful time exploring the wide variety of animals — from majestic elephants to playful monkeys. One of the highlights was definitely the carousel — such a beautiful and magical experience, especially for the kids. We absolutely loved it! If you’re visiting during summer, I highly recommend wearing sunscreen and choosing your visiting hours wisely to avoid the peak heat. Despite the weather, the zoo is well-maintained, clean, and filled with educational and entertaining exhibits. Five stars, no doubt. Highly recommended for families looking to enjoy a fun, educational, and memorable day together.

Discovery Green is a vibrant 12-acre park located in downtown Houston, just across from the George R. Brown Convention Center. The park offers a variety of attractions and activities, including live music, public art installations, restaurants, a playground, and a pond where visitors can go kayaking. Additionally, the park hosts free community programming such as writing workshops and exercise classes.
Love this park...even if we didn't get to explore all of it. Lots of seating for the grown ups, nice playground all around, a nice water feature to cool off and we loved the splash pad. And all the beautiful mature trees all around that area (OUR FAULT: my kid hurt his toe in one of the ground water drain thing...because he was at the splash pad without shoes...make sure your kiddos wear shoes 🙏 I didn't see the sign until after his injury) But we saw they have water bumper boats maybe next time we can try them out

Fall festival was super fun! A bunch of photo ops and fun for the whole family. If you know Houston heat be prepared I would suggest bringing you a water bottle or cup drinks are $6 totally not worth it. Snow cone was good and refreshing. They do have a few food trucks I didn’t try any but had ok options. Enjoyed all the set ups and would go back again.

It’s such a beautiful and relaxing spot right in the middle of the city. The park is always clean, well-kept, and full of life, there’s always something going on, whether it’s a live concert, art installation, outdoor yoga, or a community event. It’s a great place for families, couples, or anyone who just wants to unwind outdoors. The playground area is perfect for kids, and during the warmer months, the splash pad is a huge hit. My kids absolutely love running through the water while I relax nearby. There’s also a small lake where you can rent paddle boats, which is a fun activity if you’re looking to do something different. The wide open lawns are great for picnics, and there are plenty of shaded spots if you just want to sit and enjoy the view. The only real downside is the traffic and parking situation. Do not go during rush hour, or you’ll find yourself stuck in traffic and circling for a parking spot for what feels like forever. I spent almost 30 minutes once just trying to find a place to park. It’s definitely worth visiting, but plan your trip for earlier in the day or later in the evening when things calm down a bit. Other than that, Discovery Green is a gem in the heart of Houston. It’s lively, scenic, and full of things to do for all ages. Whether you’re going for a walk, a picnic, or just to people-watch, it’s a great way to enjoy a bit of nature without leaving the city

Nice green park beside downtown gives fresh breathing. The park has a splash pad for kids, lot of green space to relax and water for boating. This park also used to have social events, music and yoga sessions. Good place to relax.

Love discovery green! Great place for families . To sit down and have a picnic . Great restaurants around at walking distance including in the park . Clean bathrooms . Park is very clean over all, you always see someone cleaning up . Love when they do events . Plenty of space for it . There’s canoeing & bumper boats at the moment . Always good to check out what’s going on for the weekend . Great events for the little ones early in the day .

Rainbow Lodge is an elegant and historic cabin restaurant in Houston, known for its upscale American fare featuring wild game and seafood. The restaurant offers a romantic Valentine's Celebration for Two To-Go, including a gourmet meal and a bottle of champagne. Originally located next to Ima Hogg's Bayou Bend mansion in 1977, it has since moved to a century-old log cabin along the banks of White Oak Bayou while maintaining its lush grounds and rustic lodge decor.
I love Rainbow Lodge. I've been several times and it never disappoints. We went today for brunch and enjoyed everything. We had the whipped goat cheese, peas and snaps as well as the quail bites to start. For the entree we had the red fish and jumbo gulf shrimp and grits. So delicious! We sat at the bar top and enjoyed our meal with drinks. I highly recommend you try this place!

A true hidden treasure in Houston. Beautiful log cabin restaurant with a very nice patio area. The scenery is beautiful and makes you feel like you’re in another state. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The meat dishes are very tender, soft, and smoky. However there are some dishes that I don’t think are worth the price, but overall it is a nice restaurant to splurge on and enjoy a different scenery and space.

Valet parking. Top tier service. Comfortable atmosphere. Delicious fare: nice presentation & portion size. The food was the star. The game was cooked to perfection, so tender. The fish was well seasoned & the sauce & spinach were very good. Our least favorite bite of the night with the cheddar grits that came with the quail appetizer & the wild game entrée. A bit more seasoning would have helped. The highlight of the meal was the dessert. Hands down, the best dessert I've ever had. The atmosphere was elevated but not stuffy. We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. The card from the staff was a sweet touch. Highly recommend. Appetizer: CRISPY TEXAS QUAIL BITES Entrée 1: WILD GAME MIXED GRILL (venison, elk loin, & quail) Entrée 2: RAINBOW TROUT WITH LUMP BLUE CRAB & PECAN BROWN BUTTER Dessert: WARM CROISSANT BREAD PUDDING

Want to start by saying Thomas is an incredible server! He definitely made our experience more enjoyable! We went for the end of Houston restaurant week and they had a really great three course meal deal for $55. As a vegetarian, I don’t necessarily think my meal was worth the $55, but I do appreciate them having a vegetarian option on the menu so I can still go to the places my friends want to try. However, I think this was an incredible deal for those having the meat options on the menu. My one friend got the Bison, and the other had the Quail and Venison. The starter salads were phenomenal, and don’t even get me started on dessert. Firstly I really expected smaller portion since it was a deal but no, full sized desserts. Amazing. The peach panna cotta was so light and fresh, the bread pudding was soooo warm and soft, and the chocolate mousse perfectly rich. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant, especially for a nice date night or getting dressed up with the girls.

Rustic country vibe. Beautiful scenery with simple decor. Great for casual dinner with a fancy flare. Food was great. Mashed potatoes had too much goat cheese but still ok. Our waiter was talkative but extremely personable and kind. Can't remember his name but his wife loves horses. I'll definitely be back.

Decent food with interesting atmosphere & decor. Nice party rooms that can hold 13 people. Scalloped potatoes were my favorite & the asparagus. The fish and meats were good, but a bit too salty for me. I’d like a bit more sprinkles or fresh greens on the plate to cut down on saltiness.

They have complementary valet parking so even if you don’t find a spot it’s easy enough. I went for Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. I had the steak and eggs and finished everything on my plate. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. They have two dollar mimosas for those of you that are interested on Sundays until 3.

This unique restaurant has it all - easy valet parking, friendly hostess, fantastic food and fabulous server (Izzy was amazing). Went with a small group so we got to try the duck gumbo, wild game mixed grill, antelope loin, pan seared redfish and lodge rolls. Everything was delicious, wasn’t gamey, and was fun to taste new things. Izzy checked on us and made sure we had drinks, answered all our questions, and he turned the dinner into an experience. I can’t wait to go back and try more things!

The Houston Museum of Natural Science is a must-visit attraction in Houston. Established in 1909, it's one of the most popular museums in the country. The museum features permanent exhibits on astronomy, science, Native Americans, Texas wildlife, and ancient Egypt. Visitors can also explore the Burke Baker Planetarium, Wortham Giant Screen Theater, and Cockrell Butterfly Center.
The Houston Natural History Museum is a fantastic place with a lot to see and do. You could easily spend 2-3 days exploring the main exhibits to really take it all in. The museum is filled with fascinating displays, from ancient fossils to space exploration, and it’s a great spot for both kids and adults to learn and explore. My kids had a blast discovering history and learning how things work, making it a fun and educational experience for the whole family. They do offer rotating exhibits, which is great for return visits, but these new exhibits do come with an additional cost. While the extra charge can feel like a bit much, the main exhibits are definitely worth the visit. The museum offers a truly engaging experience that’s both entertaining and educational. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot to spend a few days if you want to dive deep into history. I’m rounding up to 5 stars on Google because the extra paid exhibits are the only downside, but everything else was fantastic. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2

The museum isn’t extremely large, but it’s packed with fascinating exhibits and offers a very fulfilling experience. The interactive sections are well designed and engaging, making it enjoyable for visitors of all ages. The mummy exhibit was especially impressive both educational and visually striking. I also loved the sections about space, ocean life, and dinosaurs; each one was full of detail and excitement. The video presentations and multimedia displays were excellent as well, adding great depth to the overall experience.Overall, it’s a wonderfully curated museum that combines science, history, and creativity in a very inspiring way. Definitely worth a visit!

The Houston Museum of Natural Science is truly worth a visit! Specially for kids but equally enjoyable for adults. The museum itself has four floors each packed with fascinating exhibits. On the first floor I loved the chemistry section and especially the amazing dinosaur skeletons and fossils some over 170 million years old! The second floor is dedicated to gems, sparkling with incredible collections. The third floor is absolutely marvelous with the Mummies and Ancient Egypt culture really interesting and full of history. Right next to it you’ll also find exhibits on the history of America. The top floor explains everything about crude oil extraction procedures in detail which was very educational. If you are someone who loves going deep into information this museum can easily take a whole day to explore properly. As I know, it’s also one of the most visited museums in the USA and I can clearly see why. Highly recommended for families, students or anyone who loves history, science and culture.

I’m a member of the Houston Museum of Natural Science and usually love visiting, it’s one of my favorite places in the city. The permanent exhibits are always fascinating, well-maintained, and beautifully presented. The Hall of Paleontology and the “Death by Natural Causes” exhibition (I think that’s what it’s called) are absolutely amazing, educational, creative, and worth every visit. However, the current Extreme Animals Alive expo was really disappointing. I was expecting something exciting, with live exotic animals and interactive experiences, but most of what’s on display are taxidermy specimens or models. There were very few live animals, and nothing that could really be described as “extreme.” For the price of the special ticket, which is quite high even with a membership discount, it honestly feels like a waste of money. Some areas of the museum were also closed today, which made the experience feel a bit incomplete. That said, the museum staff is always kind and helpful, and there’s still so much to see and enjoy in the main halls. I’ll definitely keep visiting because the museum itself is fantastic, just hoping future special exhibits live up to the title and the cost.
Ray M — Google review
Amazing museum with outstanding displays and plenty of interactive exhibits that really make learning fun. It’s a fantastic place to take the kids — there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The palaeontology section is my personal favourite — absolutely world-class and packed with fascinating fossils. The on-site food is okay for a quick bite when you’re hungry, but the real highlight is definitely the exhibits. Highly recommend taking your time to explore it all!
Dean P — Google review
I wish I'd had a ton more time to spend here! Due to time constraints I mostly just got to see the Faberge exhibit and, of course, the dinosaurs. To be honest if it weren't for how long I spent in the dino exhibit I would have been able to see a lot more of the museum, but it was just SO cool! Definitely the most engaging and in-depth collection of fossils I've seen. The little Faberge exhibit was also really neat. There's a paid parking deck underneath the building, but at about 3:30 on a Tuesday we were able to find free street parking very close by. Don't forget to pick up a map up front, since the layout is a little confusing.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science is an incredible place with so much to explore! Overall, I had a great experience, especially visiting the human evolution section, which was both educational and fascinating. I really enjoyed the chemistry table and the pathology lab—these exhibits were interactive, informative, and a lot of fun. The dinosaur hall was absolutely amazing! The life-size skeletons and detailed displays make it a must-see for anyone who loves paleontology or just wants to be wowed. The only downside was that the CityPASS ticket does not include the Butterfly Center, which was a bit disappointing since you have to pay extra for that. It would be nice if it were part of the main ticket, as many visitors expect to see it. Overall, this is a fantastic museum for all ages, with plenty of science, history, and hands-on learning opportunities. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Houston!

It was great! I was a little disappointed that each exhibit was a separate fee. I am currently in a wheelchair and it was easy to maneuver around. We purchased a City Pass which includes 5 attractions including NASA. This was our first stop.

Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, part of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, showcases American decorative arts and paintings in a historic mansion surrounded by 14 acres of manicured gardens. Once the private residence of philanthropist Ima Hogg, the property features eight formal gardens and a diverse collection that includes ceramics and silver. Visitors can explore this serene setting to appreciate both the art and natural beauty.
We visited the Christmas Village at Bayou Bend last night and had a wonderful experience. The setting was absolutely stunning, with plenty of parking and an easy layout to navigate. We had pre-purchased our tickets with the upgrade for the guided tour of the home, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. The tour guides, who doubled as actors, did an excellent job of bringing the history and charm of the home to life. One of my favorite parts was the tent in the center, complete with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and train circling around it. We especially loved indulging in some spiked hot chocolate—it was the perfect treat to enjoy in such a magical atmosphere.

I really enjoyed walking through the grounds, taking in fresh air, catching the scenic views but most of all, the quite I experienced was truly appreciated. It felt like an oasis in this big city. I would definitely recommend going during the week when there's less foot traffic. There are so many shaded spots where one can sit and enjoy a good book.

This is so beautiful. It’s a house and garden from the 1700’s. The tour explains a lot of details. The furniture and the art pieces are beautiful to look at. The gardens are so relaxing, I could spend hours here.

This place was amazing. If your interested in sweeping gardens, art and Texas history in the middle of Houston this place is a must! We didn't the garden and House tour! The tour guide was the sweetest little lady. I am sad I don't recall her name. My friend and I just had the best time with her. She was so knowledgeable and kind! We will definitely be back when the azaleas bloom!
Jenny H — Google review
Sadly I came on a day the house was closed due to no AC so I paid $12 USD ($16.50 Cdn) (cost for the grounds) which are not worth it in mid August when nothing is in bloom. I would highly recommend coming when azaleas, magnolias and camellias are in bloom, not when I came out. The workers on the grounds take great pride in their gardening and it shows. They love to let you know about the trees and flowers too and were very friendly. The gardens are quite pretty but wait till they are in bloom and def go to see the house for the extra $2 USD.

I was working during my visit so seeing everything is another trip, however, I will be back as a patron and museum goer! The grounds are beautiful! You can picnic here! It's quiet, historic and plenty of room for a rambunctious kiddo to run around. As a Texan, who didn't even know this was an area of Texas from the beginning, it's amazing how well preserved it is, walk amongst what was once the literal beginning of this great state. I love history, especially history you can see, and experience for yourself, not quite a time capsule experience, but one worth visiting for natives and visitors alike.

Beautiful Mansion and Gardens. The mansion is a two store building decorated with beautiful furniture, paintings and ceramics. There are tours available in the morning and afternoon which I highly recommend. Reservations are not required. Tickets can be purchased at the location the day of the visit. Note: Kids under 9 are not allowed into the mansion, but they can enjoy the garden.

Nestled within the Rice University campus, James Turrell's Twilight Epiphany Skyspace is a stunning architectural marvel that seamlessly blends art and sound. This pyramid-like structure, constructed from concrete, steel, and stone, offers an intimate setting for up to 120 guests across two levels. The space is acoustically engineered to enhance musical performances while an enchanting LED light sequence dances across the ceiling just before sunrise and sunset.
Visited there a long ago. Since it was our first time, we parked at Rice Village parking garage and walked there. And it was a long walk. Later we get to know that you can park in the nearby parking lot. The Skyspace is free for all. The pyramidal structure was built in 2012 and accommodates 120 people between two levels. The structure is located on top of grass covered hilly area with a 72 ft square roof. The roof projects the LED light sequence during the show. We reached there 20 minutes before sunset and sat in the upper viewing area. A lady was describing the history and process of the Skyspace. And at sunset, the light sequences started. We were amazed to see the LED light sequence. Definitely recommend it if you are visiting Houston. Remember to check out the website before visiting to know about any closures.

If you’re at Rice, come see it. Otherwise don’t waste your time or money. You’ll have to pay parking and there’s construction at the moment. You can still access it by going around the construction but the light show isn’t working and there are no signs alerting you. Website says it should reopen in Spring 2025.
Estefania F — Google review
Located inside the University. It looks like an art piece and it lights up after sunset, although sometimes it doesn't turn on due to technical difficulties. If you really want to see the lights, it might be a good idea to call first before making the trip over. The Moody lot is pretty close and it's a paid lot. I don't think there are any free ones on campus. Be carful where you park as some are restricted and you will get towed. That being said, the campus is very peaceful and it's a nice place to take a leisurely stroll. We enjoy coming here in the evenings for sunset.
Tommy C — Google review
This exhibit is best in the twilight hours until dark. An inspiring place to relax and reflect. The acoustics are also great. If you can get in alone, it's a wonderful experience to practice and enjoy the views. Thank you, Rice University, for keeping this open to the public.

Stumbled across this when we were staying in the area. We were there for sunset, light sequence was awesome against the clouds and lightning in the background!! There were several people there enjoying the quiet and meditating. Parking available along the street. It’s quick and easy to stop in and stay for a short visit. If you go to the website that’s shown when you are reviewing this location on the map it will show the best times to arrive for your visit!!

I've lived in Houston for a year. I moved here from the Midwest. I was trying to find some unique things to do in Houston that were inexpensive or free. This looked amazing based on the reviews and it's free except for the parking. You can go for sunrise or sunset. Based on reviews it seemed as though sunset was busier and since I was going alone I didn't want to deal with crowds. It said to arrive an hour before sunrise. It's on the campus of Rice University. There was no one there when I arrived .There was no lighting in the art structure. Frankly, there was little lighting on campus. I was a little concerned for my safety. It said the light show started 40 minutes prior to sunrise. That time came and went and nothing happened. But since I was up I decided to stay for the sunrise. Eventually a few other people showed up. Right as the sun started to rise a guy started to mow the lawn right next to us, I mean literally inches away! That took the wind out of my sails. The sunset was still pretty, although it looked better in my rearview mirror as I drove away. I am willing to give the sunset option a try because the reviews were current for that. You have to park in an on-campus parking lot which is about $6. It's about three or four blocks away from there. The concept is very interesting just disappointing that the show didn't happen. When I got home, I reviewed the website meticulously to be sure I hadn't missed any pertinent information about the sunrise show not happening on certain days or at all for that matter. I couldn't find anything. Oh well, you learn something new everyday

A very meditative experience if it were not for all the 50 or so tourists. It gives a very peaceful and reflective ambiance and I was so impressed and amazed walking through Rice to witness this kind of natural-yet-electronic sculpture/pavillion. The lights are much prettier when you view from the outside or sitting in the lower level of the structure, not the top.

The Menil Collection, located in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston, is home to nearly 19,000 art pieces and artifacts spanning from the Paleolithic era to modern times. The museum campus includes various buildings such as the Cy Twombly Gallery and the Rothko Chapel. The collection, originally amassed by Dominique and John de Menil, features sculptures, artifacts, modern paintings, and surrealist works.
An amazing free thing to do for Houstonians or visitors who love and appreciate art, with 4 separate buildings to tour. Great date idea too! I went on a random Saturday afternoon. Pack a lunch and enjoy the surrounding park area!!!

My favorite place in all of Houston not only is a museum fantastic but the parks and the grounds of the whole Mano collection are fantastic. Always try and stop by even if it’s 10 to 15 minutes it reminds me of old friends. It gives me a sense of peace. The red swing is fantastic. The Rothko Chapel is great. Everything is wonderful. Highly recommend oh the bookstore fantastic bookstore.

The directions to the museum were a little off and I had to ask how to get to the museum because I couldn’t find the building based off google maps. It turned out that I was across the street from the actual museum even though the whole area is considered part of the museum. It is a beautiful area and we enjoyed the walk. They have a swing across the street and you can sit in the park and relax. The museum art wasn’t very appealing to me except for a few paintings. You are not allowed to take pictures or videos inside the exhibit rooms only in the hallways. Over all I enjoyed the outdoors more than the actual museum, but it was a good experience.

One of Houston’s most UNDERRATED art museum. Absolutely beautiful art with brilliant and unique pieces. The museum is made up of a few different buildings which are in walking distance. The Menil Drawing Institute was my favorite with very thought provoking pieces and nice staff. And on top of everything, it is all free! Great place to unwind and to enjoy some art with a friend or a date.

No picture-taking inside, nice space and not much good art to see. There is a separate building dedicated to one abstract "artist" a photo of which is attached. Main building has some famous modern artists like Warhol . I think the room with Magritte is interesting as some art shown there isn't in books and publications. You can also trace his artistic growth by looking at art in the beginning of his career and in the end . A few Max Ernst pictures, Greek vases, etchings and lots of African wood sculptures make the best of this museum. It would take you half an hour to see it The collection is located in a nice neighborhood with beautiful old trees. There's Rothko's chapel with giant black paintings inside. If you want to feel thoroughly depressed, you can spend time there. Newman's sculpture decorates the front . Everything is free and so you can't say 'no' if you have plenty of time to kill.

Thoughtful curation, peaceful space—and truly kind staff The Menil Collection is one of Houston’s quiet treasures. The architecture, natural light, and thoughtful curation create a serene and meditative atmosphere. I visited with my mother, who was visiting from overseas, and she was deeply moved to see works by René Magritte and the nearby Rothko Chapel—two artists she had long admired but never seen in person. One of the staff members kindly recommended the best walking route between the buildings and even shared tips for our next stop. It made our visit feel personal and welcoming. The entire experience was calm, intimate, and surprisingly profound. The museum is free, yet it offers something priceless: stillness, wonder, and sincerity. This is more than just a gallery—it’s a gift to the city and its visitors.

Though I have visited The Menil Collection in the past, the exhibits never cease to amaze me! It was clean and reverant as I walked through every single room. I stayed and pondered over the displays that truly interested me. As an artist, I got ideas on how to improve my own work. The atmosphere was smooth and welcoming. If I lived closer, I would visit more often.

The main building has more interesting things. The other three are more contemporary art, like a lot of scribbles, which I'm not a fan of. Pictures are not allowed in most of it.

Nestled within Houston's Hermann Park, the Japanese Garden offers a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Modeled in the Daimyo style, this tranquil oasis harmonizes landscapes with waterfalls, bridges, and a teahouse. The meticulously manicured garden features Japanese maples, dogwoods, cherry trees, and a captivating waterfall that creates a peaceful ambiance.
This is a beautiful and peaceful walk near the zoo and museum district. We went on a hot day, but it was still nice with a soft breeze. The gardens are well taken care of, and the animals are used to people and stay close by. We missed the prime cherry blossoms time, but there were still plenty of flowers to enjoy. The path is well cared for, and the bathrooms were also clean and well cared for. I would recommend this walk to anybody looking for some serene moments and beautiful scenery.

What a beautiful hidden gem in the heart of Houston. Very well maintained and a serene location to relax and walk around. They have soo many cute spots within the garden to take pictures and take a stroll. It’s unbelievable that a place like this lives in the middle of a busy Houston city. Soo many fishes and unique birds to look at. Definitely worth checking it out. and it’s FREE to visit.

We strolled through the serene paths of the japanese garden as the festival buzzed around us. The vibrant colors of the decorations and the fragrant air created a magical atmosphere. It was a fantastic experience, especially with all the fun activities planned. The teenagers in our group loved every moment of the day.

A nice hidden gem in Hermann Park and Houston. So beautiful and peaceful. Very well maintained as well. So glad I made the trip over there. Wish it was larger, but it was great regardless. I highly recommend that people visit if they have the time!

Super calming and serene. Have been here twice and loved it! It’s well maintained, easy to walk through and lots of wildlife. I saw cherry blossom trees as well and they were so beautiful! The flowers were budding and some were blooming welcoming spring. Great place to stop by if you’re in Hermann Park.

This property, strategically located near the zoo and museum district, presents a compelling visual appeal. The opportunity to experience the gated, zen-inspired grounds was particularly noteworthy. Situated adjacent to the reflection pool, accessible via a metal gate, the brief walk is highly recommended, culminating in the discovery of an authentic Japanese tea house. A truly exceptional find!

Eleanor Tinsley Park in Houston, Texas is a picturesque park known for its scenic running trails and verdant hills. The park offers a serene escape with the city's skyline as a stunning backdrop. It hosts various annual festivals and events, including Fourth of July fireworks. The Love Lock Bridge on Allen Parkway within the park is adorned with locks left by couples as a symbol of their love.
Beautiful park with stunning views of the city! A great place to walk, relax, and enjoy nature while taking in the Houston skyline. Definitely worth a visit for a peaceful outdoor experience.

Very nice place to chill on the grass and have a beautiful view of the Skyline of Houston. However, be aware of the sprinklers that go off in sections around 9-10 pm YOU WILL GET WET IF YOUR NOT PREPARED FOR IT. But we just laid in the sprinklers. They did have some scooter rentals that showed up in box trucks and you can rent to ride around. That was pretty cool also. I do plan on going back as I found it to be peaceful and relaxing.

Went for the 4th of July fireworks and the experience was amazing! They had a concert, a long array of food trucks to choose from. Fireworks display at 9:30 pm right after the concert! Definitely a great place for families!

One of my favorite spots in Houston. Eleanor Tinsley Park has the perfect mix of open green spaces, skyline views, and access to trails along Buffalo Bayou. It’s great for walking, running, biking, or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The park is always well-maintained, and the vibe is peaceful but still full of life. Whether you’re there for a picnic, a workout, or to catch a sunset, it never disappoints. Definitely a gem in the heart of the city.

My son and I went to Freedom over Texas this year. Our issue was trying to get to the venue, it was blocked off by cops every exit Google Maps sent us to. We ended up going to park at Bagby, then walking 20 min to get to the entry. But once we got there it was cool, lots of food and drinks. They were handing out energy drinks like crazy lol. There were misting stations, inflatable are throwing games balloon animals face painting, concerts, fireworks, good deal. I just felt some of the food vendors were like way too expensive. Plus 4 dollar water. Let that sink in. We found a station that had fesh water free on the way out, albeit I had to buy a 10 buck souvenir cup to pour the water in. But we had fun 😁

Five stars for the view alone. This has to be one of the best views of the Houston skyline. This is a nice, large green space along the bayou in the middle of a large city. The grounds are well maintained. There is is a valleyball court, a covered pavilion, and some sculptures. I explored a little and found a secluded pond area surrounded by trees, running water, and ducks. This is a great spot if you want to get out and touch some grass in the shadow of the great skyscrapers of downtown.

Brennan's Houston is a decadent eatery that brings the character and cuisine of New Orleans to the Space City. The restaurant offers a relaxed fine dining experience with an eclectic menu that defies strict categorization. Located in East Downtown, Nancys Hustle serves up fluffy corn cakes and trout roe, while Theodore Rex in Montrose offers culture-crossing sour pork sausage with chorizo spices and lime leaf.
This place is amazing. My family and I have been going here for over 10 years. We have celebrated anniversaries, graduations, holidays, like Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and so much more here. It is practically like a tradition. The staff and service are high-quality and greatly trained. We know some of the servers by name and even request to see them because they are that great. Love the pralines by the door. Garlic bread & biscuits are good. French Toast never disappoints. Some of our favorite desserts are the Banana’s Foster, Bread Pudding, Mississippi Mud Pie and Strawberry Shortcake. Live band is awesome, friendly and nice. They sometimes take song requests. Would especially recommend coming here for brunch. Most lively on the weekend like Saturday or Sunday. Would definitely recommend!

Words fail me to describe the way the Brennan’s experience affects me. The atmosphere is superb. The food is outstanding. The presentation of each course leaves you wanting the next course. The service is just second to none. Our Head Waiter Love was engaging and funny. His knowledge of the menu and his wit were greatly appreciated. Price was high end restaurant prices. But considering the entire experience…well worth it and to me…a bargain.

Brennan’s is a very good restaurant. Some of the items we enjoyed, particularly the desserts were wonderful. The main dishes were very good, but did lack some of the flavors I’d expect. The staff was outstanding but the dining room seemed a bit dated and worn.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Houston! My family have come here for decades and the service, ambiance, and food have always been extraordinary. Tonight we had the pleasure of being waited on by Manuel, Jaden & Ramon. They did a truly outstanding job and not only enhanced our overall experience but heavily contributed to our celebratory evening. Very thankful that we had them as waiters/wait staff! Overall an amazing evening. Wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Had the best time at Brennan’s for happy hour! Julisa behind the bar was lovely and super friendly making the great food and drinks even better! Cocktails for $10, wine for $8 and loads of bar bites all of which were amazing. I didn’t get a picture of the loaded deviled eggs because they were that good I preferred to inhale them rather than photograph them. I can see why they’ve been a favourite spot in Houston for so long. I will definitely visit again for lunch or dinner!

We came for restaurant week. Had a delicious espresso martini and upgraded to have the chili fried oysters which were fantastic ($10 up charge), best part of the meal! Then the vegetarian enchiladas which was good the veggies were extremely fresh. We shared the bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious and warm and paired well with the fruit. The service was nothing crazy special (from what we experienced) but definitely saw other serves going above and beyond for customers birthdays and other celebrations!

Space Center Houston is an educational facility that showcases the history of U.S. space travel through various exhibits, tours, and attractions. One of its highlights is the meticulously restored Mission Control, offering a glimpse into how it looked during the 1969 moon landing. Visitors can take a 90-minute tram tour to explore Rocket Park and NASA facilities where space missions are planned and trained for. The center also features a gallery of flown spacecraft and provides insights into space-related questions.
An unforgettable experience at NASA Johnson Space Center! Touching a real moon rock in the Starship Gallery was a surreal moment, connecting me to the Apollo missions’ incredible history. The 2 PM Mission Control Tour was the highlight—standing in the room where Apollo 11 made history and learning about current ISS operations was mind-blowing. The Artemis program and Mission Mars exhibits sparked so much excitement for humanity’s future on the moon and beyond. The Saturn V rocket at Rocket Park is a must-see—its sheer size is awe-inspiring! Despite a tight 4-hour visit (arrived at 12:30), every minute was packed with wonder. Highly recommend for anyone curious about space exploration. Tip: Book the Mission Control Tour early and wear comfy shoes for walking!
Charles Z — Google review
This overall visit was underwhelming and way too expensive for what you see. The tram tours are pretty boring, especially the one that goes to the astronaut training facility. Once you arrive, you go up to a hallway where you just stare through the glass at nothing very exciting and the guide doesn’t know much or give much narrative. They say each tour lasts an hour but that is simply not true. It’s more like 10 minutes shuttling and 10 -15 minutes inside, then the rest is spent loading into the tram and waiting to depart/return. The tram where you pay additional (Mission Control) was slightly more interesting, but so not worth the cost. I’m pretty sure you can Google everything here from the comfort of your home for free and you can learn about things in more detail. The workers here appear unknowledgeable with no real clue about anything. And, if you go in the gift shop, prepare to be followed around and watched like a hawk. It was SO obvious that we were being profiled so we left without purchasing any of that overpriced crap that we might have purchased otherwise because we CAN! However, we saw no sense in throwing away our money here. Also, DO NOT waste your money on the VR Space walk simulator. Terrible experience and you will immediately regret it! Might as well wad up your cash and throw it in the trash because that’s what you will feel like you did when all is said and done. You will feel robbed from this whole experience.

Space Center Houston is an incredible place, one of those spots that makes you feel both small and inspired at the same time. The exhibits are fascinating and full of real artifacts from NASA’s missions, not just replicas. You can see actual spacecraft, touch a piece of the moon, and learn about everything from early Apollo missions to the latest space innovations. The tram tour is a must, it takes you to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where you can see real astronaut training areas and mission control. It feels surreal to stand where history happened. The staff and guides are passionate and full of knowledge, always happy to answer questions and share fun facts. Everything is well organized, clean, and family-friendly. Whether you’re into science, history, or just curious about space, it’s a place that pulls you in and keeps you amazed. Plan to spend a few hours, there’s so much to explore and every part is worth it.

Great day out, if you like space travel. This is really a tourist trap but still very interesting and, tickets are reasonabley priced. Bit of a shock to also have to pay for parking, everyone us going to arrive by car why mot build this into the price? This would also stop confused people struggling to pay online! Food was pretty good if expensive, no worse than other theme parks. Paid $10 for a virtual reality experience. Not very long but incredible! Some of the outdoor exibits are showing some age but, still a great day out. I expect that the Xmas lights there were putting up will be spectacular!

Amazing day out… Last December we spent a whole day at NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center with our friends. We reserved our timeslot online. This place serves as an inspiration and educational resources for all ages to learn about past and future space missions. The exhibits, NASA tram tour, historic sites like the Independence Plaza and Rocket Park are praiseful. We appreciate seeing the real artifacts, including spacesuits, spacecraft, and lunar samples. We also tried the motion simulator ride which has an additional fee and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The food court is clean and provides a selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We also found our ideal NASA souvenir from their gift shop. Although we couldn’t secure a spot for the Historic Mission Control tour due to its limited availability, we would certainly return to take this tour.

So my travel goal has been to go to every Space Center in the US. So far, I've been to here and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This Space Center is awesome and it was a really enjoyable experience. Tickets here are surprisingly reasonable in price. Actually, all the pricing was really solid even for being a major attraction. I really enjoyed that they had a bunch of different tours inside as well as a bunch of films to watch. I was bummed that mission control was under construction when I was there, but I still got to see the bulk of the space center in the day I was there. I feel like you would need at least 5 hours to see most of the space center, but I feel like at least 2 days would be best. I highly recommend it; it's definitely worth seeing if you're in Houston and want to explore outside the city.

Visiting Space Center Houston was an absolutely incredible experience! The highlight of my visit was the unique opportunity to meet and talk with astronaut Jeremy Hansen, who will be part of the Artemis II mission next year. It was truly inspiring. What impressed me the most was being able to see the real testing facilities and witness up close the enormous size of the rockets that once went to the Moon. Standing next to such historic and powerful machines was simply breathtaking. This visit was sensational — a perfect combination of inspiration, knowledge, and awe. A must-see for anyone interested in space and exploration!

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is a must-visit destination in the city's Museum District. It stands out as the oldest art museum in Texas and one of the largest in the United States. The museum boasts an impressive collection of over 70,000 artworks from six continents, spanning from antiquity to modern times. Visitors can explore its distinct campus and sculpture garden while also enjoying films and programs.
WOW! The MFA blew me away! We went to see the Floating World exhibit. It was unbelievable. I highly recommend experiencing it before it goes away. Then we had a little time to wander around. We realized how big EMFA is! Everything was extremely well done and beautiful. We just needed more time… Definitely going back. I highly recommend the Houston museum of Fine Arts!

Genuinely appreciate that military get in free! However… the layout of the museum is CONFUSING as all hell. The museum is made of like 4 buildings + a parking garage. The buildings with art are connected by tunnels. Everything is confusing and hard to navigate. For some unknown reason, there was weird, terrifyingly creepy experimental music playing in both buildings we visited. It was LOUD and could be heard throughout all the exhibits. This is not an exaggeration, it sounded like tortured, haunted groaning + tornado sirens…. Not a pleasant backdrop to your museum experience. I love music. This was downright creepy and made me feel on edge while trying to enjoy the art. Parking is $10 if you park under 4 hours. As an avid museum goer, I was very happily surprised by the amount of Iranian/Islamic, Jewish, and Indonesian art on display! I had never seen so much from those regions and cultures before, so it as a really unique experience. But overall, if we had paid full price for this experience I would’ve felt pretty upset.

As an artist, I’m looking for Inspiration and I love me some good art. It felt like I was back in art history in college but it wasn’t in the books this time but in real life. First time going to this museum and I wasn’t able to explore the whole museum!! I was blown away how much art and the variety as well. There is sooooo much to explore, view, and read. My realm and interests is contemporary, minimalism, and modern art which they have a whole building dedicated to it. They also have installations and interactive pieces too! Highly impressed with this museum and the staff was extremely helpful and kind!

If you’re looking for respite from the heat—the MFAH is cool. So cool! We only had a couple hours, so we headed straight for the special exhibits. A.A Murakami created ephemeral performance art with smoke and mechanical breath. Giant bubbles are released to float and explode in a puff of smoke. In another room, puffs of smoke are generated rhythmically and wafted forward. The scenes are mesmerizing and simple yet infinitely complex. Comfy floor cushions provide a place to watch and be immersed. In the Law building, we took in the Anicka Yi exhibit. We saw moving, lit wire sculptures and a constantly refreshing, AI generated scene. Relax and look for your favorite design. Outside Yi’s exhibit we enjoyed the Jewish and Islamic exhibits. I especially liked the video demo of Islamic calligraphy, and the giant painting of Islamic text with only the vowels and no consonants. You can see the rhythm of the words without the letters competing for attention. I also loved the tunnels and found the chromatically lit rainbow tunnel so charming and photogenic. You won’t be disappointed!

The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston is a marvelous museum, one of the finest in the world. It has a wide range of collection s of artworks of various forms, making it one of the leading museum of fine art in the world. The curating is first class. So is the management. The museum is spacious. It is situated in several buildings and several structural blocks, but these are interconnected through tunnel at the level of basement 1. The tunnels are meaningfully decorated. It has sober parking facility. The elevators cater the need of the physically challenged visitors.

This was a great experience. I was temporarily in a wheelchair and going through the tunnels was a little difficult because of slopes. I do suggest getting a city pass which covers 5 different excursions. You can see the tunnel with the neon lights.

Downtown Aquarium in Houston is not just a massive aquarium with fish, sharks, touch pools, and educational displays. It's also an adventure spot with a Ferris wheel, aquatic carousel, and Shark Voyage adventure train. This sprawling sea life attraction houses 300 underwater species and is popular among visitors of all ages. It's often included in city-wide tours due to its appeal to families with kids.
Loved coming here with my friend :) it was my first time coming to an aquarium! I didn't expect the rides but it was a wonderful addition to it! Not to mention they had more than just fish which was surprising to me and my friend! We had such a blast :D
Meko — Google review
The Downtown Aquarium in Houston was an okay experience overall, but it definitely feels outdated compared to other attractions in the city. While the aquarium itself has some interesting exhibits and a few unique displays, the layout and design seem old and in need of a refresh. It didn’t have that “wow” factor I was expecting for the price. One of the biggest downsides was the cost—not just the admission, but the parking. The parking fees are pretty steep and honestly feel unreasonable for the location. That added cost makes the whole experience feel less worth it, especially if you’re bringing a family. The rides are a nice touch, but again, they feel a little old and not as exciting as you might hope. The staff was friendly and helpful, which was a positive, and the aquarium is clean and well-maintained. However, for what you pay, the value just isn’t quite there. Overall, it’s fine for a one-time visit, especially if you have kids who will enjoy seeing the fish and a few animals. But between the outdated vibe and the expensive parking, I can’t say I’d rush back anytime soon.
Vijay D — Google review
Perfect escape from the heat, with cool sights, education, and a nostalgic fun atmosphere. My husband likes animals and I love rides so this felt like something we both could enjoy during our Houston trip. Because we were already a little tired from all of the other things we were doing on the trip, this felt like something that wouldn't be overwhelming to enjoy. I was right. The size of this is small so it can be enjoyed in 2 - 3 hours. There are rides outside and breaks from the heat with all the aquariums inside. Plus the decor, music selections, and friendly staff, made me feel generally happy while we were there. Like we had gone to a good place in the late 90s. It was sweet.
Teemaree — Google review
This place was a hidden gem! We went on a Sunday morning and were able to see every exhibit and attraction with no waiting time. It’s is super affordable & teachers are free with ID! My kids were able to see and feed animals I never thought they would be able to.

The Downtown Aquarium was a nice experience overall, but it does feel a bit old and the rides are limited. We didn’t see the white tiger — only the regular one — but it was still nice to see. It’s worth visiting once, but I recommend buying the tickets through Pogo Pass — it’s a much better deal.
Alya A — Google review
The downtime aquarium is a 2-minute walk from post market. I grabbed a bite to eat at Post market and parked at Post market then walked to the aquarium. It was fairly quick. The parking at the aquarium is $15. Valet parking is $18. I only wanted to go to the aquarium to experience it. For Friday, the ticket was a little less than $19. I completed the entire aquarium in 20 minutes. There were many different fish. Also there was a tarantula and a few tortoises. They state that they house for 4 tigers however I only saw one. Most likely I showed up during feeding time. All in all, for one person who only wants to go to the aquarium, it is not worth it. I truly felt like I wasted $20 just to walk through a small area and see some fish. Compared to spending $25 at the Houston National Science Museum. If you are going to attend the aquarium and visit the parks, then purchasing a $25 all-day pass would be better money spent.

It’s the perfect spot to have a nice conversation with friends while waiting for your table. And speaking of that, the wait time has always been shorter than expected every time we’ve been there. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot with great food, amazing drinks, and the perfect atmosphere to enjoy with friends or family.

I'll start off with the only real negative thing about this place, and that is parking of course. Their lot is incredibly tiny and fills up instantly on weekends, street parking was full around the restaurant as well so we had to end up parking at a church about a block over because everything else had restricted hours, was reserved or valet. I recommend using satellite view or street view to plan out parking if you're not one to wait for someone to leave. I came here for a birthday brunch with a party of about 12 and we all fit on one long table under the big long canopy gazebo setup they have and it was gorgeous. My cousin had a menu picked out for her bday and they brought out a cheese, bread, fruit, and prosciutto board out first which was delicious and they offered water, juice, coffee and a drink menu (full bar). Then they brought out croissant sandwiches with ham & cheese, an avocado, cheese and ham sandwich with was amazing! They had an egg bowl that I believe had onion, bell peppers and cheese and THAT was yummy and moist and paired well with everything else. There was also side plates of sausage and bacon. For dessert at the end it was a big chocolate chip cookie that was warm straight out of the oven, the only thing it was missing was a big glass of milk lol. The ambiance was superb with wonderful vibrant plants everywhere and they also have a whole section to buy plants which was amazing. All prices are pretty average for the plants. Food prices are ... I'll say on the fancier side so if you're on a budget maybe pass until next time but I definitely recommend coming here if you enjoy eating outside and enjoying the weather. There is also an indoor area which I honestly didn't go into so I can't comment.

It has been years since I went to Tiny's for dinner but I came for a girls night on a recent Friday evening. We had a 7:30 reservation and were taken straight to our table upon check in. The setting of this restaurant remains as lovely as ever. Really beautiful patio seating with a wonderful interior vibe as well. Service was attentive through the meal and I really appreciate that they have a list of their spirits on the back of the cocktail menu. For dinner we shared the artichokes and summer pizza to start and for my main I ordered the chicken romesco. I swapped the masa cakes for asparagus and though I don't normally enjoy dark meat the dish was pretty good. My friends shared a burger which the kitchen split for them on two plates which I thought was a nice touch. One friend ordered the pasta bolognese and let me have a bite. I have to say that the pasta was not good. I left the bite on the side of my plate unattended. Overall I think Tiny's is a really solid option, but I continue to prefer it for brunch or lunch over their dinner service.

The place is quiet, upscale and comfortable, and the dishes are delicious and varied. I had dinner with my family. The dishes were varied and delicious. The service staff is friendly and performs professionally. I recommend trying this restaurant, but its prices are a little high. There are indoor and outdoor seating.

this place is beautiful outside and perfect to come for a somewhat calm and relaxing time with your friends to catch up. It’s usually very busy and there’s always a wait. It’s also very hard to find parking. There’s a gorgeous garden/shopping area next to it to explore. The food isn’t anything great, just typical American tasting food that’s in my opinion over hyped. I only like to come here for the outdoor seating because it’s what makes this place what it is

While in Houston, I found Tiny Boxwoods through Google Maps. It was a quaint and charming breakfast and brunch spot. Though there was outdoor seating, we opted to sit inside. Hubby and I both had coffee while Dad had hot chocolate. Dad had the Mother’s breakfast, which included scrambled eggs, white cheddar jalapeno grits, homemade biscuits, jam, whipped butter, and bacon. I had the Fruit & Yogurt Parfait, which included berries, labne, Tiny’s house granola, and honey. Hubby had sides of sunny-side-up eggs, bacon, and a fruit bowl. Everything came out quickly and we enjoyed it all. Highly recommend this for a gathering spot!

Great spot! Excellent location, cozy atmosphere, and a lovely patio. Food is fresh and tasty — I had the avocado toast with fish and really enjoyed it. Service is wonderful. Parking is small, so you might need street parking, but overall it’s a 5-star experience. Highly recommend!

A quaint, adorable, sophisticated restaurant with an attached garden nursery and gift shop, because who doesn't love all that in one place... I've been here for brunch and dinner. Two different, cool experiences. I feel their brunch offers more variety. Perfect for patio dining with friends. Take home some pastries! Great coffee. Of course, it's popular, so there's a wait. You can use Resy to make dinner reservations. Their dinner menu is a little more limited but delicious. I treated my mom here for her birthday, and the waiter was darling and attentive. Service here has been consistently great. Very nice place with a lovely vibe.

Located atop the Hyatt Regency Houston, Spindletop is a unique revolving restaurant offering stunning views of the city's skyline. As the only revolving rooftop dining spot in downtown Houston, it provides an upscale experience with Southwestern-inspired seafood dishes. The menu features items like chilled blackened tuna and shrimp and grits prepared by the hotel's culinary team.
So romantic and the staff was very sweet. The prices are high but you get what you pay for. The view while you’re dining was amazing. You can be looking at the Ferris wheel and start talking and look up at the freeways on the other side of downtown. It was like you were move to another table and didn’t even notice.

I called for a reservation for my wife's and I anniversary. The rep was not very helpful to where she expected me to call later at another time not given. For an event that would make a difference because it was an opportunity to show my wife a wonderful experience. I have to make another effort. Where I thought I had made the best decision. Thanks

The food, drinks, and service were impeccable (except for hostess who seemed to be unhappy with her job) would’ve received 5 stars if they were more accommodating with the seating. We made a reservation in advanced & didn’t know you had to specify in order to sit by the window and enjoy the view. The hostess told us that the seating would be full so we were not allowed to sit there. Unfortunately that was not the case at all, place was so empty I felt that I had to whisper as to not be too loud. If they would’ve sat us by the view we would’ve stayed double the time and spent double the money.

It's one of the best place in Houston for special occasions like anniversaries etc.. only revolving restaurant in Houston..it offers the best view with absolutely mindblowing dishes. Very classy but little expensive. I guess that's the deal you get when they have sooo much to offer.. Must get a special one to spend some really quality time together. Service is so far the best we have encountered. We ordered grilled pacific tiger shrimp, southwest jumbo lump crab cake, roasted red snapper, ancho glazed grilled chicken breast. The portions are small but taste is to die for!

Dining in a revolving restaurant with spectacular views of downtown Houston already delivers a unique opportunity that isn't easily forgotten. Add attentive service and delicious meals to this, and you have yourself a truly memorable moment. Spindletop delivered in every way possible. The wine selection was extensive, but our server made a great recommendation based solely on our description of what we wanted to have. My herb crusted rack of lamb was appetizingly presented, and it was tender and absolutely flavorful. My date enjoyed her filet surf and turf dinner as well. No complaints on this visit. An easy five star rating to give for a fantastic dining experience.

Well unfortunately yes it's hit or miss with this restaurant.. My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary here. We had okay service and the food wasn't amazing but we still had a great night. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and the chef looked tired.
Erika M — Google review
This place has been around since the 70s in one iteration or another I'm told. Novel, rotating restaurant that makes a full revolution in about 45 minutes. Seafood heavy menu prepared by the hotel culinary team. Service is excellent. I emailed ahead and asked for the chef to come out to the table and talk about the menu which they did. Chef was very nice and well informed. Had a lot of knowledge about the menu and had been with the hotel for over a decade at one location or another. Tried the Charcuterie board and the seafood Mac for starters. Seafood Mac was on point but the Charcuterie board left a lot to be desired. These boards are being done well in many botique establishments and even some hotel restaurants I've stayed at. None of the offerings were horrible it just felt uninspired. Although, the chef did say they were all locally produced meats and cheeses... Main course was the rack of Lamb and the filet both were excellent and very tasty. Finished up with the chocolate mousse. Fun but dated environment with about e average but not "to die for" food. Would totally be a prom date or first date spot. We were there celebrating an anniversary a d another couple had rosepetals on the table. Views of the skyline were probably once much better but now you get the inside views of several neighboring skyscrapers... You can see a great view of city Hall and the ferris wheel connected to the Aquarium restaurant Lobby bar is inviting and parking is validated. Definitely a four star experience but the dining still has the hotel kitchen feel so I'm saying no to five....

Specialty Museums
The 1940 Air Terminal Museum in Houston is a spacious art deco museum dedicated to showcasing the city's rich civil aviation history. Housed in a historic terminal building, it features aircraft, uniforms, and memorabilia from the golden age of flight. Designed by renowned architect Joseph Finger, the museum offers a glimpse into Houston's aviation past and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This is a true treasure of Houston's aviation history. The building itself, in the art deco style, is worth coming to see. Add in all the airline memorabilia from the past 100 years, and you have an experience. Jim and Larry were wonderful tour guides. Their love of history and airplanes made the tour so enjoyable. We even got to see an old model A Ford which will be raffled off as a fundraiser. There were so many fun things about the tour, one of which was being able to stand outside and watch the airport operations. We even got to see an army helicopter take off. The VIP treatment we were given was phenomenal. We found out they have an open house every 3rd Saturday of the month, which we how to have the opportunity of attending someday.

We visited this past Saturday and had a wonderful time. The volunteers there are very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly. I learned way more than I had expected to! And, watching planes take off from either the roof or the ramp was absolutely amazing. For all that and everything you get to see in the exhibits, it is definitely worth the admission price. I will for sure be back.

Absolutely Fascinating Step Back in Aviation History! My visit to the 1940 Air Terminal Museum was a highlight of my trip to Houston. Housed in the original art deco terminal building of Houston’s first municipal airport, this museum is a beautifully preserved time capsule of the golden age of air travel. Walking through the elegant, curved lobby with its terrazzo floors and vintage ticket counters felt like stepping onto a movie set from the 1940s. The exhibits—featuring TWA, Braniff, and Eastern Airlines memorabilia—were thoughtfully curated, showcasing everything from uniforms and luggage to navigation instruments and stunning scale models. I especially loved climbing into the cockpit of the 1942 Lockheed Lodestar N31G. The volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, sharing stories that brought the exhibits to life. The museum’s compact size makes it easy to explore, yet it’s packed with historical depth. Don’t miss the observation deck for views of modern Hobby Airport—a poignant contrast to the vintage setting. A must-visit for aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, or anyone who appreciates art deco architecture. This hidden gem celebrates Houston’s aviation legacy with charm and authenticity. Highly recommended!

I cannot say enough good things about the 1940 Air Terminal Museum as our wedding venue. From the very beginning working with their event manager was easy. Their pricing was competitive and they included a lot of items that would have been extra at other venues, not to mention the fact that the money spent was actually going back into supporting the venue and the Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society! The space itself is so beautiful, fun, and unique that it barely required any decor. The museum exhibits, airplanes, and runway right outside the door provided tons of activities for the guests to enjoy during cocktail hour and throughout the evening. I could go on and on but do yourself a favor, if you are considering them as a venue contact Juan and drop by the museum one day and I am sure you will fall in love with it like we did!

I really enjoyed visiting the 1940 Air Terminal Museum — it was such a cool experience! The highlight for me was being able to step inside a real airplane from that era and truly feel the atmosphere of the time. It was fascinating and unique. Wonderful experience at Air Terminal Museum My children and I attended the OPEN RAMP event. We really like everything about aviation and knowing what aviation was like in the past was something incredible, plus there are many photos and things we had never seen before! If you have the opportunity to visit the museum, do so and sow the seeds of aviation in the children the future pilots and flight attendants.

Nobie's is a cozy spot located in a restored Craftsman bungalow on Colquitt Street, offering New American cuisine and craft cocktails. Run by the husband-and-wife team of Chef Martin and Sara Stayer, the restaurant exudes a house party vibe with vinyl spinning during service. The menu features cleverly named dishes like "Aww Shucks Oysters" and "Come Quail Away," along with an extensive wine and spirits list.
Unique flavors that offer a twist on American classics. I got a fish hash with the most perfectly poached egg on top with caviar in the sauce and a clam pasta dish with sun dried tomatoes. Both were yummy but my favorite was the pasta! The outdoor patio was very nice on beautiful day. Service is excellent and friendly. Great place to come for brunch with the girls or a celebration lunch!
Heidi — Google review
Nobie's is exactly the kind of place my wife and I have been looking for in Houston! I made a date night reservation here on a friend's recommendation. I was a little sad that the only reservations they had open around 7 were outside, but I went with it. Upon arrival, they offered us a table in the bar area and we gladly took it! Our waiter was attentive and gave us some great insight into the menu and had great recommendations. We decided on a couple of their cocktails and both were very tasty. We ordered the dilly bread and we both ordered different pasta dishes so our server recommended we have the dilly bread with the meal rather than an appetizer and I'm glad we did, because it complemented the dishes very well! They offer pies every night but they change every day, so we opted for the menu staple of the olive oil cake since this was our first (but certainly won't be the last) visit. Very light, most, and with a slight lemon flavor - very good way to cap off a delicious meal! The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic. We were sat right beneath a speaker so it was a little loud, but their website does provide a warning that they like it dark and loud. I will say that it wasn't loud enough to put a damper on the evening, though. Overall, 5 out of 5 and we'll certainly be back again!

We were hosting a family member in town. They requested a nice dinner and Nobie’s was the first place that came to mind! The vinyl records were a bonus for our music loving guest. We had great service and could take our time deciding what to order next. The chickpeas were great for snacking, loved the dilly bread to settle our appetites, we ordered the bolognese twice it was so good, and the pies are out of this world. Thursday night was easy to get a reservation for inside one week out. We recommend taking a Lyft as parking is extremely limited.

This is a cozy place not big with a full experience in music and food. The menu changes often so just check every day and experience the new food and enjoy the music. The stuff is very nice and kind and the food is local and well done and presented. We really enjoy any plates from appetizers to the giant full chicken. They are all delicious and tasty. Strongly recommend to visit this place. The music sometimes can be loud but not enough to have a nice conversation.

In Houston for my daughter’s birthday weekend and had the pleasure to try Nobie’s. We ate on the patio and there’s was enough shade and slight breeze to keep us comfortable while we had a fabulous meal! I consider myself hard to impress and we were blown away. Every single dish was delicious. The Texas tartare was some of the best I’ve ever had. The service was beyond exceptional. A must try if you’re in the Houston area.

Loved this place! The food was fresh and full of flavor, and everything came out just right. The vibe was warm and fun — great music, nice lighting, and a good energy all around. The service was spot-on too — friendly, fast, and made us feel really taken care of. Definitely one of those places you leave already planning your next visit.

Absolutely loved this place! Came here for our anniversary and it outshined my expectations. Try the dilly bread with trout roe, just decadent. Then we ordered the tater tots with goat cheese and our minds were blown. Crazy combo of flavors that just works amazingly. We came during happy hour and the old fashioned was on point. Didn't skimp on the bourbon. To end the night, I had the olive oil cake and just a cloud of flavorful silky goodness. My wife had the double chocolate pie and needless to say she was absolutely happy. Brandy was our waitress and she was so sweet and informative. As a surprise, they brought us two flats of champagne for our anniversary. It's the little things that are a big deal for me. Thank you for making our anniversary a memorable one.

Nobie’s is a cute and cozy restaurant with a warm, welcoming vibe. The service was absolutely top-notch—our server was super attentive and even helped suggest some vegetarian options, which I really appreciated. While the vegetarian choices were limited, what I did try was quite good. The dill bread was soft, warm, and paired beautifully with their house-made spiced butter. I also tried the beer-battered sweet tots, which were delicious and came with goat cheese. The sauce wasn’t quite to my taste (I’m not a big goat cheese fan), but overall, it was a solid dish. For dessert, the olive oil cake slice stood out—it was soft with a lovely lemony flavor, though the crystallized sugar on top made it a bit too sweet for me. I also tried the chocolate chocolate pie with an Oreo crust and whipped cream, which was rich and decadent—again, just a bit sweeter than I prefer. Now for the downside: the board they served the dill bread on was filthy and clearly worn out. The butter was placed directly on this board, and that honestly ruined the experience for me. It was pretty off-putting, and I’m taking off two stars just for that. I really hope the restaurant takes cleanliness more seriously, especially when serving food directly on a surface. Overall, great vibes and amazing service, but they seriously need to improve on the presentation and cleanliness of their serveware.

The Julia Ideson Building, located in the heart of downtown Houston, is a charming and grand wedding venue. Built in 1926, this historic library boasts Spanish brick floors, a grand staircase, marble pillars, and unique architectural elements that create an ambiance reminiscent of the Great Gatsby era. The building's stunning architecture and rich history make it a standout choice for weddings and events. Its central location offers easy access to nearby hotels and attractions.
I recently had the privilege of capturing a beautiful wedding at the Julia Ideson Building. This historic library is an absolute dream! The architecture is breathtaking, with charming details and history evident in every corner. I was particularly captivated by the ornate high ceilings adorned with beautiful details, and how the sunlight streamed through, creating stunning photographic opportunities. The spaces, both indoors and out, provide a unique and elegant backdrop for wedding photos. The reception space within the library itself was simply magical. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the day. I highly recommend the Julia Ideson Building to any couple seeking a truly special and unforgettable wedding venue.

I visited on a Saturday around noon and was pleasantly surprised that parking was free at the Houston Public Library garage (though I’m not sure if that’s the case every Saturday). From there, I walked through the main library and across into the Julia Ideson Building, which is beautifully designed—the architecture, art, and overall layout are impressive. My main purpose was to get some work done, so I headed to the Reading Room. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, with only a couple of people there despite it being the weekend. There are about six tables set up in the room, plus a cozy corner nook with couches and small tables—perfect for reading or quiet reflection. The only drawback is that charging options are limited. There’s really only one table with outlets for laptops or phones, which makes it less convenient if you need to plug in while working. Other than that, I had a great experience. I even took a short break to walk nearby and grab coffee at The Finn before settling back in to finish my work. Overall, the Reading Room is a hidden gem in Houston—calm, inspiring, and ideal for reading or working if you come prepared with a charged device.

As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of shooting several engagement sessions at the Julia Ideson Library, and it’s truly one of my favorite locations in Houston. The architecture is absolutely stunning—every corner of the building has character, from the grand staircase to the ornate ceilings and arched windows. It offers that perfect mix of timeless elegance and old-world charm, which creates a beautifully romantic and sophisticated backdrop for couples. The natural light that pours through the windows is a dream to work with, and there are so many little nooks both inside and outside that photograph beautifully. The staff has always been kind and accommodating, and my clients are always blown away by how unique and atmospheric the space feels. Whether you're into vintage vibes or simply want something classic and elegant, the Julia Ideson Library delivers every time. Highly recommend it for engagement sessions or even intimate weddings!

The Water Wall in Houston is a must-visit, known for being the most photographed location in the city. This iconic 64-foot U-shaped structure features water cascading down, creating a stunning sight. Using nearly 80,000 gallons of recycled water every three and a half hours, it's an impressive display. Located within Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, this 2.
It was so nice. We visited this water wall yesterday and I think this is worth the visit. The sound of water flowing makes you feel at peace. I am sure it would be so nice to come here early in the morning when no one is around just to sit and listen to the sounds. The best thing is it has water flowing in the front and back. In the front it has water flowing down and through steps which makes it look very aesthetically pleasing.

The Water Wall in Houston is such a peaceful spot in the middle of downtown. The tall falls look powerful, yet the mist and sound feel so calming — almost like nature’s stress buster in the city. It’s especially nice in the evening when the air cools down, making it perfect for a quiet walk or just sitting and enjoying the view. Each glance feels worth pausing for, and the atmosphere makes it a great place to relax, take photos, or just breathe a little slower. A beautiful escape right in the heart of Houston.

The Water Wall in Houston is a really beautiful attraction. The towering structure and cascading water make for a stunning sight, and the surrounding park area is peaceful, with plenty of benches to sit and relax. That said, standing inside the Water Wall can feel a little strange—it almost gives you the sensation that you might fall. And be careful it is slippery. Still, it's definitely worth visiting for the beauty and the experience.

Fun, free place to stopby if you're in the Galleria or Post Oak area. It's an impressive wall of water that's just falling on all sides. Great place to take pictures. There's also a large grassy area if you just want to hang out or have a little picnic. It does get crowded, but most people take a few pictures and move on quickly. Just be careful not to park in the tow away zones, but they are clearly marked.

The place is close to the gallery area. The place is fun and the visit is free Huge water walls flowing on all sides great for taking pictures There is also a large grassy area .
