Nature & Parks
Long's Park, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is an 80-acre public park offering a wide range of outdoor activities for families. Donated to the city by Judge Henry Grimly Long and his daughter Catherine Long in 1900, the park features a lake, petting farm, playgrounds including adaptive and sensory-friendly options for children with disabilities. Additionally, visitors can enjoy picnic pavilions, tennis courts, and a fitness trail.
We had a relaxing day at Long’s Park. There are playground areas for the kids. Picnic areas, plenty of ground to walk, beautiful Lake and many other things to do. It was peaceful. We plan to go back next time we visit Lancaster.

My friend and I went to Pennsylvania for 3 days. We discovered this park while looking up dog parks for our little furbaby. There are several ponds w fountain sprays and ducks. It is a very long and wide historic park that was once a couple’s home and they left it to the community in their will. There is many wooded areas and benches and a comfort area w a restroom, picnic benches. There is also a small building w food drinks and ice cream. We loved it and found it peaceful. 😍❤️😃

It's a very nice park. Something for everyone, a beautiful pond with ducks and two fake swans (reason?). The weather was perfect. The prices however were out of the average persons range. There were some great artists and types of art. Otherwise a very nice event.
Mags B — Google review
Great park. Something for everyone here. Playgrounds, basketball courts, sand volleyball, paths to walk, lake to walk around. Many people were fishing at the lake as well. Tons of areas to set up a bbq and enjoy family time. Theres a small petting zoo. Path for to bike around on.

Great place to spend time with the family. Great view and atmosphere

This place is absolutel magic! I was visiting the area and someone in passing mentioned a nearby park. I'm so glad I decided to take a long walk at Long's Park. It was peaceful and I saw people eating at picnic tables, walking, riding bikes, etc. There was also plenty of parking. Highly recommend!
Taya P — Google review
This park was great for a nice walk after breakfast. It's relaxing, quiet and beautiful. It's also really well kept. The squirrels have obviously been fed by humans as they immediately associate cars and people with food. Upon parking, several ran up to our vehicle, and we could see them at other vehicles. They also followed us and would stop in front of us waiting. They were adorable and harmless and very good at guilting us for not having food, haha. I just wanted to note that so someone isn't startled when getting out of their vehicle. The ducks are also very used to humans. They do not approach, but they do rest along the walking trail. There are several playgrounds throughout the park. There are also plenty of benches, and I will definitely return when I'm in the area.
Lynn J — Google review
It's an over populated park.. There's koi fish in the pond which have taken over unfortunately.. no sport fish in there for anybody to catch and release other than minnow sized who knows what.. there's a giant snapping turtle, leave it alone please. Keep this place cleaner than it currently is or it will soon shut down. 😒 I wish there was bass in the pond..

Lancaster County Central Park, the largest park in Lancaster County, is a 544-acre outdoor haven conveniently located in Lancaster City. It offers a wide range of recreational activities such as swimming at the county pool, exploring hiking and biking trails, enjoying picnics at six pavilions, playing tennis, and admiring lush gardens. The park also houses the Lancaster Environmental Center and Shuts Environmental Library where visitors can delve into the area's nature and history.
Pictures speak a thousand words. It's a beautiful park, very safe, with ample parking, friendly people around, and pet-friendly.

The openness is breathtaking! I'm from NYC, and there were times I felt just like this, only when I'm sightseeing at the piers or similar places as the pier. We have an extremely high number of skyscrapers and buildings, so the experiences are very different. This is a blessing, thank God for the feeling to be able to enjoy it. 🙏🏻✝️♥️

Just an all round great park in Lancaster County. In the summer my granddaughter takes nature classes. I just visited the 4 Senses Garden and loved it even though the plants were not as lush being near the end of the season and all the rain we received. The fountain and falls were wonderful.
Shana M — Google review
The picnic area is good, bathrooms could use a little more cleanness... some playground could use basketball courts... just a suggestion... bog friendly however pick your dog up... stepping on them when going for a trail walk.

We enjoy the trails in the park and the scenic views and if you're lucky enough you'll get to see some deer

The gazebo at the Garden of Five Senses in Lancaster Co. Central Park is an excellent venue for small outdoor weddings (ours was 17 guests). The gazebo can be rented at an affordable rate through the county park website. The garden itself is nice and quiet even on a Saturday afternoon. Great for photos. There are parking lots above and below the venue, and there are restrooms up the hill from the garden. Fairy accessible for walkers and wheelchairs. We brought a small battery-powered sound system and standing mic with us so that our guests could hear what the officiant was saying. Make sure to provide your guests with fans for the heat or umbrellas in case it starts raining. Decorators can't use nails in the wood; we rented chairs.

Great escape during pandemic! Such a lovely space right next to downtown Lancaster. Good for walking, biking, picnics and just plain relaxation. Grounds and pathways are very clean and well taking care of. Come enjoy the fall and come anytime of the year. You would not regret it!

Amos Herr Park in Lancaster County is a charming and well-maintained farm-themed playground that offers something for visitors of all ages. The playground features various play equipment including slides, monkey bars, rock walls, climbing structures, swings for different age groups, and special needs swings. It also has amenities such as soccer fields, bathrooms, shaded areas with benches, and a free little library at the covered bridge entrance.
Nice park with shade and a wide variety of things for the children to play on. Well shaded sitting areas that allow you to watch the entrance. Fenced all around the sides. There’s a neat little swing thing too. Ice cream man visits here and there. Very large field off to the side to do other activities.
Chucky Z — Google review
Very nice park as it seems to be split in half between toddlers and older children. A large zip line and lots of climbing opportunities here. Has soccer fields, tennis courts and baseball fields. Also has a clean bathroom. I do feel like the park has more walkways than play area however.
Kayla H — Google review
Wonderful park that has unique and updated features that would pertain to any age! Love that there is a little kid area and most of the park is shaded! In addition the bathrooms near are very clean and maintained well!
Nicole H — Google review
Great family park. Playground, walking trail, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic area and clean restrooms
Jimbo M — Google review
This is a wonderful playground. It’s huge and has such a varied amount of things for kids to do from multiple sets of monkey bars to a few different slides. Plenty of swings, a zip line swing, spinning saucer, rock walls, sandboxes, an area for the smaller kiddos, and mostly stroller accessible so you can follow kids around if they’re younger. The playground is fenced. The ground covering is a mix of the squishy foam like rubber and mulch. There are plumbed restrooms in the park and a very short walk from the playground. The playground itself is surrounded by lovely fields for some additional running. One of the best parts of this playground is there is not only large and mature shade trees, there is a ton of shaded seating for parents and kids to get out of the sun if needed! The playground is either brand new or excellently maintained.
Alisha L — Google review
Cool cave, but the tour guide is in a hurry and they cram to many people into a tour. At $30 per ticket you don’t need 30 people on 45 minute tour. The two cavern rooms were too small and people in the back miss out.
Drete Y — Google review
Love this accessible park! With 4 kids (including one handicapped and one a toddler) I can only handle taking them to a fenced in park. They have something for everyone! My son, in his wheelchair, can even get around and feel included! Well made! ❤️❤️❤️

Nature & Parks
Lititz Springs Park is a well-maintained community park with a rich history and various attractions. It features stone waterways fed by underground limestone springs, providing a picturesque setting for leisurely walks and duck watching. The park hosts regular concerts and the town's annual 4th of July celebration, drawing large crowds. Families often visit the park to enjoy its playgrounds, concession stands, and dog-friendly environment.
Love this park and it’s a big part of why I love living in Lititz. This park is truly a gem, as are all of the dedicated volunteers who keep it being such a treasure for the community. Lititz is incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful park AND an amazing community of people who keep it. It isn’t every community that has something so nice right in the middle of town. What you make of it is on you.
James S — Google review
Great park in a great town. Today we saw a live performance of "Swing" performed by Servants Stage. It was music, dance and awesome singing. The park has an excellent band shell, along with a concession stand, picnic pavilions and restrooms. The stream runs through the park and is home to dozens of ducks. A fun place to visit.
Daryl H — Google review
It's a perfect place for family picnics, there are tables with benches, peaceful environment with squirrels and ducks, and free parking. The Lititz Spring park is quite small and it's actually surprising how many different impressions that place can fit. There are ponds and canals for ducks. There is a church near by with beautiful flowers. There are sounds of organ coming from time to time to the park (maybe from the church). There are some nice cafes around (I recommend New Holland). It's a good place to relax and talk to your family outside your house.
Aleksei K — Google review
Lititz Spring Park is a charming space with lush greenery and serene fountain. The Reading caboose station was a fun photo op. A lovely place to unwind and enjoy; watching the ducks swim by was delightful. There is free parking. Highly recommend for a peaceful stroll!
Priya P — Google review
Never been to a park before tailor made for ducks. Good size park for being in the center of a town. Has plenty of green area and trees, 2 huge covered outdoor picnic facilities and a man made stream running through it. They take advantage of the gentle slope and have 2 big ponds at both ends. The ducks take notice and flock there to sit and drift all day long. Unique.
M W — Google review
This is a cute park where you can sit back and relax or learn some history with the caboose museum. Feed some ducks or let your kids unwind in the playground . There is a gazebo for a party and baseball field .
Kikki B — Google review
It’s always been my favorite park since first visiting last year for the July 4th. There’s an extremely small but cute farmers market every Thursday (which more places should def get in on this so can have more shoppers supporting small businesses!) it’s always so clean, the ducks are so cute and chill and they aren’t those pesky Canadian geese, they are actual real ducks lol. What’s missing is a dog park/area, splash zone for kids, and a secured way to get into the park from the residents in the buildings next to it. I do enjoy all the pokemon Go community things that happen, there should be more little festivals! It’s such a big place with a amphitheater even

Nature & Parks
Chickies Rock County Park is a 422-acre green space located just a short drive from downtown Lancaster, along the Susquehanna River. The park is renowned for Chickies Rock, an impressive quartzite outcropping that offers panoramic views of three counties. Visitors can explore hiking and biking trails leading to Chickies Rock and Breezyview Overlook, as well as the fourteen-mile Northwest Lancaster County River Trail that runs along the riverbanks.
Easy short hike, it took me about 10 minutes to reach the overlook. The overlook was beautiful! A couple minutes from the parking I saw the trail sign that says you can go straight or right; I kept going atraight. Either way will get you to the lookout. Also, there is a decent sized parking lot right off the main road.
Amanda C — Google review
Adequate parking at the opening of the trail. Easy walk back to a nice overlook of the Susquehanna River. Flat no worries.
Lisa K — Google review
Beautiful small hike with a nice view at the end! We hiked for about 10 minutes, from the parking lot to the view of the river. The trail was very easy to navigate. One of my friends was 9 months pregnant and this hike was manageable for her as well. Great for families as well. Definitely recommend!
B — Google review
Probably one of the best overlooks in the area, the views exceeded my expectations, definitely recommend. It took us no more than 10 minutes one way from the parking lot. Note, in the middle of the hike there is sign with two arrows (both go to Chickies overlook): to the right and straight. Straight arrow leads you on a flat pathway, while the right one has some up and down hill. The distance is about the same for both of them. We saw some elderly people during our little hike, so it is definitely a manageable walk.
Katerina S — Google review
A 10 min walk leads you to the most incredible views. Must stop and experience. Parking is limited so expect to wait in summer and fall
Tripti B — Google review
Never reached the lookout because the trails are so poorly marked. The first sign had 2 arrows pointing in different directions for the same trail. Not sure if they’re trying to get people lost but this is a great start. Highly recommend this park if the local emergency services are in need of subjects to rescue.

Susquehannock State Park is a 224-acre green space offering stunning riverfront views and a variety of outdoor activities. The park features hiking trails, picnic areas, and play spaces for families to enjoy. It also provides opportunities for river swimming, water sports, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing in the winter. Additionally, there are camping facilities with amenities such as drinking water, electric hookups, and fire rings.
Such a beautiful and peaceful location. Great overlook to view the Susquehanna River and catch glimpses of various birds of prey. Appreciated the park ranger being there giving information and answering questions along with providing binoculars for viewing. This was a quick stop for us to have a picnic lunch but interested in returning to take in some of the trails. Lotta parking available along with restrooms and multiple picnic tables scattered throughout the area. Great spot for families to enjoy the outdoors, playground for kids and pet friendly. Light amount of visitors but steady. There is a short walk from lower parking lot to lookout area that could be challenging for elderly and disabled as shown in picture. Camping and pavilion reservations are also available. Free entry.
Patty H — Google review
Great view of the river from the overlook. Detailed plaques throughout some of the trails explain the forage and wildlife around you. Parking is plenty. Trails are well maintained and easy to walk through. There are some sections of steep elevation and some parts are bumpy and rocky but worth the walk. Lovely place all around. Free entry.

PLEASE READ!!! My husband and I are adventurous hikers. We’ve hiked many terrains. Yesterday we went to Susquehannock State Park for a hike. We took the blue trail (not sure the name) which we’ve taken in the past and it overlooks lots of waterfalls and there’s lots of climbing and beautiful views. WARNING: This time there were many slippery spots and my husband nearly lost his life as he slid off a cliff. Luckily, He was able to dig his claws in and save himself. Please be warned that the trail is slick and if you are on the side of a cliff, be extra careful! Just wanted to share our scary experience. Happy Hiking!

Love camping there! Beautiful park, the views were incredible! Rangers were awesome & knowledgeable! I had a great weekend! Will definitely be back !!

This is an excellent park in Pennsylvania. There are tons of walking trails, hiking trails. There are tables and public bathrooms. The public bathrooms are open seasonally. I believe there are two playgrounds on site. Several public grills are on scene two for a barbecue. There is a nice scenic overlook that you can see all kinds of birds flying around. You can also overlook the water.

Absolutely beautiful views. What a lovely place to visit. The drive there is peaceful and once you're there, it'll charm your pants off. 😁

Over 200 acres of beautiful!!! I recommend hiking and camping here! Plenty of bathrooms, beautiful fields of flowers. We saw eagles, hikes and deer.
Michael C — Google review
Great place for a short hike. Handful of different loops and offers a variety of terrain. Nothing too challenging, however some trails can be quite steep and not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. All the trails are blazed but are all in the same color. Trail junctions are staked out with signs to indicate which path you are on. Also ample printed maps at the main parking lot. Just be mindful of the landmines horses are leaving behind and you'll have a good time.

Playground
The Daniels Den Playground is a community-built park, designed with the intention of being an inclusive place where all children can play and learn together. The playground features swings and slides for the little ones, as well as a climbing wall and various other toys for the bigger kids. There is even a special section for toddlers called the Tot Lot.
This playground is big, fenced in and has completely separate play areas for tots and school aged children while being connected as a whole unit. Plenty of seating, but no shade on those hot days. The water mister is a fun feature and the covered/shaded bench areas for eating are a nice shady spot. Swings, climbing areas, slides and more.
Pennsylvania K — Google review
This is such a nice and unique park. I must say children definitely don’t get bored here even under the park structure there’s play areas as well. I love that it’s fenced in all around, has no mulch just the rubber padding and there are separate areas for the toddlers and older children as well as a big pavilion. It’s really nice. Also love that this park is made to accommodate people that are in wheelchairs as well. Also, has a port-a potty and a water fountain available. My kids absolutely love this park and will definitely have to come back sometime when in the area.
Katie H — Google review
Love the quiet location and that it’s located next to a big field where kids can play soccer or whatever they choose. I think it’s great they have that option to run around freely and not just the playground. Nice shaded area to eat and plenty of space and play areas for kids. Especially love that they have separate space for toddlers and bigger kids. They even have a wheelchair accessible swing.
Jay — Google review
I was looking for a cute park that had a lot of things to do that wasn’t Long’s Park and found this hidden gem. It has a school age side and a separate spot for toddlers. It’s a very peaceful area surrounded by land and beautiful view of sunset. Will definitely be returning!
Mya M — Google review
This is a beautiful, well maintained playground with age appropriate equipment from infants/toddlers through about 10-12. My 6 and 9 year old loved it. They have a misting area that surprised the kids and they enjoyed that. Ample parking and plenty of seating, both covered and open, for the adults. A porta potty for use if needed was an added bonus as many playgrounds do not offer this amenity. The kids let their imaginations run wild with the themed playground equipment (barnyard, train, ship, and treehouse themed area). Definitely plan on returning.
Claressa H — Google review
Loved this park. Lots of great things for the kids, good soft rubber footing, and great slides. There are also some great subtle details that make this playground a lot of fun like the misting gate that's really nice when it's very hot outside, and the wobbly platform on the ship to make it feel like you're at sea. There is also a port-a-potty next to the park and a nice open field for kites. Entrance is off of the church parking lot.
Derek B — Google review
Handicap friendly!! No mulch it's rubber track flooring. Plenty of seating. 2 separate play areas (tot lot and school age lot). Soccer field and pavilion. Only downfall is the STATIC.
Kandise N — Google review
Just took my boys here the other day for the second time now & they have a blast every single time!! We would go more often but we live far away so we only stop by whenever we're in the area. I love how they have an area for babies/toddlers and a separate area for the bigger kids. So that way any child no matter the size can have tons of fun & make beautiful memories! They keep the park super clean, and maintained, meaning none of the equipment is worn out or dangerous. You can have peace of mind while your kiddos are playing. Great place for a game or 5 of hide & seek, we played it bunches of times. Lol. Also they have a mist area, where you push a button and mist sprays out, which was perfect for the hot & humid day we visited on. Landis Valley Museum is a museum dedicated to the history and culture of Pennsylvania's rural German community. The museum has a collection of artifacts from 1740 to 1940, as well as living exhibits that depict life in this unique culture. Landis Valley also offers educational programs that explore the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania German community.
Peaceful and educational. The museum has so many collections gathered by the Landis brothers - a look into the past. Excellent guided tour (shout out to Ashley) included in admission. Also the museum gift shop is not to be missed - well stocked with local handcrafts. The gift shop is also accessible without having to pay admission, so it's worth a visit even if you don't have time to tour

Loved it! Unique, interactive displays with a mix of self-guided sections that encourage you to move at your pace. The history of the Pennsylvania Dutch and intertwine of religion make for competing visions and stories. It was especially interesting to learn about the two Landis men who collected artifacts and founded the museum. The staff were helpful and Emma was a standout interpreter - very genuine, knowledgeable, and helpful! Entrance fee is reasonable.

Highly recommended! Landis Valley Museum makes it feel like you're stepping into a beautifully preserved chapter of American history. Several buildings, including the Tavern, the Blacksmith Shop, the Schoolhouse, the General Store, the Tin Shop and so many more to explore. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and passionate, making your experience educational and engaging. This was definitely worth the trip!

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum offers a truly immersive journey into the agricultural and rural community from the 18th to early 20th centuries. It's basically a living history experience. Walking through the village, stepping into historic homes, craft shops - all furnished and equipped as they were back in the day. I am very grateful for our knowledgeable and passionate tour guide, she provided so many interesting facts and history and details on the life back then. It's a wonderful way to connect with history beyond textbooks. And it is a good place to test your extra sensory abilities because the energy of that land is incredible. There are many ancient trees with super powerful energy.

Great museum! Lots of interesting local history artifacts. The demonstrations are well done, the buildings well maintained and the farming history is fascinating. The gift shop has lots of local artists represented and they sell their heirloom seeds.

I rented the firehouse for my daughter's bridal shower, hoping for the best, using recommendations from the Manheim and Lititz Facebook pages - and the venue did not disappoint! Though it was a bit pricey for a smaller event, the firehouse was a beautiful space with loads of locations inside & out for great photo ops. Working with the folks at the Museum was a pleasure! They were quick to respond, and helpful in every possible way - before, during, and after the event. I'd have to say that they really went beyond my expectations! There's a small kitchen and prep area that can be sectioned off, and even a large screen for presentations. The only downside I'd note is the lack of a bathroom inside the building (adjacent buildings have bathrooms). Overall it's a beautiful venue and we had a fantastic experience - I would definitely recommend it.

Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, situated on the Lebanon-Lancaster County line in Pennsylvania, is a vast natural area dedicated to the conservation and management of wildlife. Spanning over 5,000 acres, it provides habitats for waterfowl, forest wildlife, and farmland wildlife. The area features a 400-acre shallow water lake and a 70-acre impoundment. Visitors can witness stunning flocks of tundra swans during migration season from November to March.
The park is beautiful!!! A ton of parking! The kids and I are doing the “Go Lancaster” and it was hard to find the trail since we never been to this park before. The instructions wasn’t very clear!! But asking around did help a lot and having a map of the park REALLY helps us. Once we found the trail “Spice Bush trail” that was a mission to find the post! It’s NOT an easy trial for kids! Very rocky, and swampy. We will return to the main park but not to Spice Bush Trail. lol

Highly suggest the 1.4 mile ‘circle’ hike - trailhead starts at the museum and the trail is well marked. An easy hike with great views and beautiful flowers/trees, often marked for identification. The museum is great for children and adults alike, with many interactive exhibits to discover and learn. A recent edition highlights the history of the Pennsylvania Game Commission and how their conservation responsibilities and work have grown and changed over the years. Again, a must-see museum and hike for an easy 2-4 hour trip.

Going back 5 years ago, I remember this building was in construction. After I got word that this building and place is a must-see to go back to, i decided to give a try. I walked in, and there was so much knowledge on Pennsylvania wildlife and the displays of aviary species here in the area. I was also astonished by the history of state game lands and rangers and learned so much. You should definitely check this place out!

I went here on Good Friday since I had off from work and it was a beautiful day. I parked in Lancaster County in the lot on Mountain Spring Rd. It’s a small lot but there were only a few cars there. I did the loop counter clock wise, starting along the creek. Since I always prefer trails along water, I loved this part of the loop. I took the blue Explorer trail which leads towards the reservoir. I stopped by the small museum and sat outside which backs to the reservoir. There were only a handful of people there. I wish I would have known about this place when my kids were small, they would have enjoyed it. It’s interactive learning. I also walked the conservation trail. Then I connected to the loop again and went back to the parking lot via the Elders Run trail. This trail is not as exciting, although there are a few old foundations right off the trail. Parts of the trails are muddy but there are wooden platforms and log rounds to step on. I don’t go to this part of the county often, I didn’t realize how nice it is.
Michelle R — Google review
Totally beautiful place. Absolutely worth visiting. This was some of the best fall foliage I've ever seen. The lake is beautiful. The landscape is incredible. The trails are well marked and so relaxing. The only thing I would caution is the wooden walkways (only for some potions of the trails) are very slippery when wet, but this is to be expected. But most were easy to just walk next to as well. Seriously awesome place.
Griffin R — Google review
Great place to bring the young kids and family. Inside lots to do and explore for the kids and outside lots of beautiful views and nice and very easy trails around. We had a great time together and will be coming back in near future.

Lancaster is very lucky to have a gem like Middle Creek in the county! This property, managed by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, is a 6,000-acre preserve with 20 miles of hiking trails and numerous vantage points of the Middle Creek Reservoir. It is famous for the snow geese that visit every year during their migration, but Middle Creek offers beautiful access to nature and great birding no matter what time of year you visit.
Rainer B — Google review
Enveloped in a celestial tapestry, the expanse unfolded in pristine splendor, meticulously stewarded by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Initially, Google’s guidance ushered us to the visitor’s center, yet a whisper of adventure beckoned us further. Beyond lay a winter’s dream—a field aglow, not with snow, but with a congregation of snow geese. These winged marvels, nature’s own artisans, painted the landscape with their presence, faithfully returning to grace the lake’s tranquil waters each year. The Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area transformed into a living canvas, a spectacle of serenity and natural wonder that captivated the soul and etched a mesmerizing memory.

Nestled in the picturesque setting of Mt. Gretna in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach is a beloved destination offering an array of beach activities, delectable treats, and cultural experiences. This charming spot boasts an eight-acre lake and sandy beach that has been attracting families and outdoor enthusiasts for generations. It's not just about swimming; it's a complete experience that combines relaxation, entertainment, and the essence of summer in one scenic location.
Was not packed maybe because you have to pay to get in which for the price it was awsome to not be over packed. I got to swim, jump off multiple decks, Deck with swing, a high stand, kids deck, kayaking, and lounge around. Beach chairs, Kayaks, water tubes, and food can be rented and bought. Plenty of life guards on duty, cleaning showers outside can be used before you go in, and when leaving, changing/ restrooms are available on site, and parking is right outside the gate. Great location to swim and bring your family for a fun day, some shaded areas around the trees and free umbrella already in the sand if you're there first. 👍 great vacation day, for sure.

Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach is a beautiful, relaxing spot for a summer day. The lake is clean, the beach area is well-kept, and there are fun activities like a rope swing and diving boards. Great for families or anyone looking to swim, relax, and enjoy nature. Plenty of picnic spots and a snack bar, too. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway along with the family.
Ahmed B — Google review
This is a perfect substitute for a Beach Day that is close by. The catch you have to pre purchase tickets and call in morning to make sure they are open as they test the water of the lake each day. Free parking, they have a snack bar thats not bad. (Note prices in the snack bar are higher for sure than if you would buy anywhere else but it is convenient. You are able to bring in your own food in a cooler and they have a marked out section of picnic tables and places you can bring your own grill. My kids loved the sand beach and I enjoyed floating on an intertube that they have that can be rented for the day as well as boats, umbrellas, chairs. Well worth a visit!

I am an overseas visitor and I love this easy to get to place. It's very relaxing, easy to park, there's lots to do for the kids. canoes, kayaks, jumping platforms, volleyball, swings, picnic areas. Drinks and ice cream from the shop are reasonably priced. Everyone is very welcoming. There is a season pass available.

Mt. Gretna was fabulous! I didn't take any pictures to prove it (you'll just have to take my word for it). Where to start. Parking wasn't a problem. We came for an event hosted by Lancaster Chooses Love. Lots of families were here but no matter what the bathrooms, patio, picnic benches, everything was well-maintained and very clean! We didn't try the snack bar but we heard it was good. I appreciate you guys. Thank you, Paige. We had a perfect time.

Beautiful places. Grass to sit or in the sand. Has a little jumping dock with diving board, a dock just to hangout on, and tall one to jump, also a swing to jump from. Tubes are welcome also have tubes to rent. Very relaxing. First come get umbrella. Bathrooms big with changing areas.

IGNORANT RUDE STAFF. Singled my 9.5 son out and would not let him go past ropes b/c “his stroke wasn’t strong enough” EVEN THOUGH he swam back just fine unassisted with no struggle AND we were here over a year ago when he was only 8yrs old and jumped off the same platform 10+ times with 0 issues and not a problem from any of the dozen life guards (I have multiple videos to prove this). Also, there were many small kids out there and they did not require any of other kids to take the test. Our son was the only child SINGLED OUT. When he literally did the same swim/jump when he was 1 year younger here safely many times AND as parents we were watching and more than ok with him doing it, there is no reason for them to ruin his day and keep him from hanging out with his brothers and cousin. The staff here are INCOMPETENT and IGNORANT, including the snarky manager Julia!!! Just BE WARNED that they can single a child out arbitrarily and pass/fail them on a whim from teenage staff even after you pay and ruin your child’s day! Since your response was spin and avoided all FACTS!!! Here are some questions that you IGNORED… Mt. Gretna Lake and Beach why was my son “safe” to multiple lifeguards a year prior who allowed him to go past the rope many times and do the jump? (I have video evidence) Were they not doing their job??? Why was my son the only child targets by the lifeguards and made to do the test? There were many children that day his size or smaller. That included a boy who was terrified to jump and paced the dive for nearly 10min holding on for dear life. More importantly, the boy could not swim at all and his parents had to bring him a tube to drag him back. My son swam unassisted last year and on Sunday. Not a single lifeguard whistled or said a thing to the terrified boy and his parents and they even allowed him to go past the rope after that whole incident. I also have video footage of this. What do you have to say about this incident that went on for 10min and was obvious to anyone there that day? Your staff is incompetent, unprofessional, and unreasonable. You targeted my family and let other major safety concerns slide. I was/am furious and will spread her word. Good thing everything on here in FACT and I can prove with videos unlike your biased spin! I’d love your answers to the above publicly!!!!

Although I visited on a snow day during Christmas time the courts at Buchmiller seem to be the place to play for pickle ball aficionados. Six courts with ample space between net post and nice wind obstruction sunk in the hillside with free parking and first come first serve dinking. I'll be sure to come by and check out open play in the Spring. But I hear there are some hearty players who play year round when the weather permits. Check out my video tour and review along with still photos.

I'm always on the hunt for new parks. This one has a really great combination of shade end of nature combined with a playground that happens to be great for the age spread that I have, 16 months through 7 years. There's swings as well as a play structure. It's very close to bathrooms. It's right next to tennis courts. It's also right next to the frisbee golf Course. There is a place you can rent for picnics very close as well though not right next to it. I think if we ever did a birthday party or something there we plan on doing it picnic Style with blankets because of how close the shade is to the playground.

Nestled in the Welsh Mountains of eastern Lancaster County, Money Rocks County Park offers a journey through history and nature. With 7 trails winding through the second-largest continuous forest in the area, visitors can explore historic sites while enjoying picturesque views of farmland and distant hills. The park's rocky spine, known as Money Rocks, is steeped in legend and provides a rewarding hike to an impressive waterfall.
This hiking spot is such a delightful place to explore! The scenery is breathtaking, and aside from a few graffiti tags, it’s absolutely stunning.
Brody N — Google review
I pulled into the trail head parking lot at 3 pm on a Saturday with 2 carriages and 2 cars there already. Hiked out to the first Y and stayed left and hiked the Money Rocks ridge trail to the Blue trail then a descent to the Iron Horse trail (flat). There’s a small stream crossing on the descent down to the Iron Horse trail and a decent amount of water on either side of the Iron Horse trail for a dog to cool off. There’s climb back up to the Money Rocks trail is short but steep. We headed out to the overlook which was blocked by the tree canopy then back to the parking area for a 4.3 mile hike. I think this was a great hike with average amount of rocks but the descent and ascent was probably too rocky for most horses
Thomas W — Google review
If you want a rock challenge on a steep small dirt trail, come to Money Rocks. Once you get through to the end of the trail, you will find a prize and beautiful view overlooking the valley. Be cautious. Climbing the rocks can be fun, but it can also be dangerous. They do not have barriers to protect you, so climb to the top of the rocks at your own risk!

Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park, located in Lancaster County, is a 44-acre kingdom for children with a variety of attractions suitable for the whole family. The park offers over 30 rides including roller coasters, water slides, teacup rides, and carousels designed to cater to children of all ages. In addition to the thrilling rides, there are live entertainment shows and a water play area called Dukes Lagoon.
This is a great park for younger aged children. Really cool theme & the Castle Entrance is awesome. Most rides and stuff are for kids 3-10 years old. There are a few coasters but nothing crazy. They have a live performance a few times a day & this is a MUST. The water park is probably the one area they could improve on as it's WAY over crowded and smaller than i expected. It's nice nonetheless but there isn't a wave pool, lazy river, or even just a regular pool. There's two splash pad areas for toddlers and two taller watersides and that's really it.
Jay J — Google review
A quaint little amusement/water park in Lancaster, PA. There are a few rides for the older crowd, but I think this park is geared mainly to the younger kids. My boyfriend and I took his 9 year old daughter and we all had a great time. You could actually spend the entire day at the water park if you wanted to. We didn't get to see any of the shows as we were only in Lancaster for a few days. It's interesting to see this park right along the main roadway. I believe the park was open in 1963, so I do not know if that highway was there at that time. There is also an area where you can walk through and learn about dinosaurs.

Our 6 and 4 year old grandchildren love it here. Their favorite rides are the Whip It, Old Fashioned Car, the small roller coaster, the Bee. They were disappointed this last visit because none of the dinosaurs in explore Island were working. A fun amusement park.

Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park 2249 Lincoln Hwy E, Lancaster, PA 17602 So I’m not gonna lie I wasn’t sure what to think when my wife said let’s go to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA. Doesn’t really seem like there’s anything there as a quick roadtrip destination, but the fact that this amusement park is geared towards 12 and under and we needed some long overdue family fun we decided to hit the road. Once we arrived, the checking process was super easy because we bought our tickets online. People that were purchasing tickets on site were waiting forever in line 😩. Shout out to my wife for making the arrangements online. We got in and began riding all the kid friendly rides we could fit. First we went on a boat ride and had to identify different characters along the way. We rode the skylift across the park which was relaxing. Once we got off the skylift we went to a BBQ stand to eat and unfortunately that was the only bad part about the park. The burgers weren’t real ground beef, they didn’t have any of their sides like, and the smoked sausage wasn’t very good either. They also ran out of drinks so we had to get kiddie cups of water. After the dissster that was lunch we allowed the girls to ride a bunch of rides that parents couldn’t ride with them on. We watched a water show with an evil sorcerer, a king who’s princess daughter needed to be saved by the prince that was turned into a frog by the sorcerer because he wanted to marry the princess himself. We were able to finish off the park with a couple of family rides and rollercoasters as well as taking the girls to the gift shop and grabbing some souvenirs. If we ever go again we’ll stick to your traditional amusement park food like chicken tenders, pizza, hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, etc, but all in all it was a great experience and most importantly the girls had lots of fun!

My son is 7 years old and he is at the perfect age for this amusement park. Definitely worth checking out at least once. You can easily see the whole park in 1 day. We plan to come back during Christmas since they decorate the park all up & you can even book Christmas dinner with Santa & his Elves! Kinda a cool experience for your little ones before they get to old. (Insert tear) lol

Dutch wonderland sure showed me and my family a good time everything where age-appropriate, we try almost all the rides they could ride. The water area was great since i had my 2 year old and 5 year old even i had a blast. Staff was informative friendy if we could have found something they insured that we found it. We had gotten food while there a little pricey for chicken tenders and fries finish it off with a slushy variety of flavors. So much fun things to do loved it i rate 10/10

Really awesome place for a family fun day. SO many fun rides and things to do. Delicious treats and eats throughout the park - highly recommended.
William ( — Google review
I loved it here and cannot wait to return! I visited for the first time today with my husband (who hates rides) and my 2.5yr old toddler (who had yet to experience them). It is the perfect place to go as a family with a little one trying rides for the very first time. The rides are specifically designed with kiddos in mind, so the majority are low stakes and not very intense. I appreciated their easy system for riding based on height, and it was clearly posted at each ride. I also loved that I could walk into the rides with my son and get him situated and buckled before they began (of course workers double checked every time, but it gave me kiddo peace of mind to have me walk in with him). There were lots of food stalls and restaurants around, bathrooms in convenient locations (which included changing stations for littles), a first aid booth, strollers for rent (and plenty of places to put said strollers when on rides), games to play, and the entire park was very walkable. There were no crazy hills or long stretches of path where rides were not accessible. Wait times for rides were very short-- in fact, most of the time there was never a line. For the couple times we did wait, it was not longer than 10 minutes, and there was often shade or coverage from the sun. The water area was a blast and definitely helped us cool off. We went straight there to drop off our swim stuff (in a locker) which made it easy to get to when we were ready, and it kept us from toting extra stuff around all afternoon. The locker was for all day which was wonderful. There were so many things to do outside of rides. Shows, dives, pop up theater, Santa, a foam party, story time--it was a jam packed place. If you're looking for a place to take your littles for the day, look no further! Dutch Wonderland is the perfect place to go. Look for deals online for tickets. Kids under 3 are FREE!!!

The Conewago Recreation Trail, a 5-mile former rail line, offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, running, cycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. It connects with the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail to form a 19-mile network. The trail features shaded areas along the Conewago Creek and is suitable for easy recreation. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy meadows, trees, and creeks while birdwatching or horseback riding.
A beautiful 5 mile rail trail that is level, well-graded, and follows along the Conewago Creek. It is adjacent to some farmland, but primarily runs through wooded areas that occasionally offer glimpses of the Conewago Creek. The trail is a calm and beautiful walk that is one of the best spots in this part of the county to enjoy nature.
Rainer B — Google review
Great trail! Very well maintained and lots of shady portions! Wide enough for walkers, runners, and bicycles!
Earl D — Google review
stay away from this horribly maintained county rail trail. The pathway consist of very sharp 1 inch size stones that are guaranteed to rattle your dentures loose in your mouth. I do not know how joggers can run on this or mother’s push baby strollers. My recommendation is to stay on the Lebanon Valley side of the trail and you will have a much more pleasant experience. Lancaster County should be ashamed of themselves for the condition of this trail.
Steve C — Google review
We had a lovely hike along the trail. We saw someone painting the landscape, lots of birds, and someone along the trail told me when I was stopped there was a white wolf in the direction I was heading. We didn’t see anything once down there. My dog wanted to roam on the big open field so bad but it is private property and for archery.
Tia T — Google review
This is an awesome trail to walk especially for beginners. It's a total of 5 miles one way so it is adaptable for any fitness level. It is nice and wide and flat with nice scenery of farmland and corn fields. Because it borders the Conewago creek frequently you get to see a great waterfall about a mile in. The only negative thing that I have to say is that there are no restroom facilities but other than that I am definitely going back again with my mountain bike.
Denise W — Google review
Starting up the Conewago trail along the beginning, I saw you had a bicycle repair station and air pump. It was very impressive. Also the fall makes the trail absolutely beautiful.

Too much of the trail has a large Stone gravel which makes for a Bumpy uncomfortable ride, but other than that the trail It's fine. As do most trails, It me Andrews through farmland and wooded areas which gives a good balance of shade and sun. Just be mindful of those stones embedded in the trail, OUCH!

Easily one of the best places for a scenic view of the Susquehanna River. Free, easy to access, plentiful parking, well maintained viewing and picnic areas, benches, trails and restrooms. Along with the Safe Harbor Bridge, my personal number one recommendation for sightseeing in the area.

We love this overlook so much we got married there at sunset! It’s absolutely stunning! Parking is near the overlook and there are bathrooms there also.

The trail was as enjoyable as it was challenging. Would definitely recommend to wear hiking boots, as steep parts were slippery to hike in normal running shoes. The walk down the river was rough and rugged, but absolutely worth the view at the end.

Breathtaking Views and Vibrant Fall Colors Pinnacle Overlook is absolutely beautiful! The view overlooking the Susquehanna River is simply stunning especially in the fall when the trees burst into a mix of gold, orange, and red. The landscape feels peaceful and picturesque, offering plenty of great photo opportunities. It can get quite busy considering the size and location, so parking and finding a quiet spot can take a little patience. Still, the beauty of the overlook more than makes up for it. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend visiting, particularly during peak foliage season!

Beautiful park and very well maintained. We had a soft ball game there.we spent some time walking around and looking at all the flowers and garden scapes. They have Great exercise equipment dip bars, pull up bars hanging rings climbing polls, great area to do a job or have a run.

Early in the morning is the best time to go on a hot day. The very tall slide is in the shade. After the sun is beating down, the playground equipment gets hot. We always touch before getting on. Bathrooms are clean. Nice walking down to the river. Early in spring watch for bees nests.

Beautiful park with paved walking path around and threw it. Path is about 0.9-1.3 miles, depending on what route you take. Disc golf course, 3 pavilions, sand volleyball court, baseball field, playground. Bathrooms are very clean, no changing table. Multiple picnic tables scattered throughout for picnicking, a wetland/bird haven, small creek, and "fitness path". Also multiple dog waste receptacles. Beautiful, peaceful, well kept park.

Very fun it is a place me and my friend have been going to for sport, sledding, hangouts and even pickup basketball after school. I have been going to the park since I was in second grade with my friends and we still go and bike around or play basketball and sled their to this day and I’m in 8th grade. The park appeared to be clean and kid friendly. There is a nice path to walk around the park. We rented one of the pavilions, it had parking with it and was well kept. We did need to provide our own trash bags so I'm not sure there are any trash cans throughout the park.

So clean and beautiful! I love that! The parks and trails were not only well kept but very clean and very friendly for families. They were accessible for those that might need to use a ramp or have a flat or even surface. The trails were very very well kept and still honored nature.

I love the trails here and how shady they are. No matter how much bug spray I wear, the bugs are committed to crawling into my nostrils, eyelids, and mouth—which is impressive dedication on their part. The trails are well-maintained, and on a sunny day, the shade is perfect. Plus, you can always count on getting your daily serving of protein from all the bugs you’ll be snorting, chewing, and blinking away. Five stars

It's a great place for the whole family to enjoy nature, with opportunities to see wildlife along the Hammer Creek and through the woods.
Nice November hike with fairly well marked trail and some elevation change. Parking is available at the trail head and saw other vehicles along another entry point along a field on side road. Only came across a few people so it was quiet.

Good hiking experience for the whole family. Trail can get a bit muddy at times by the river, but thats what makes it an adventure. Entire trail can take about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to complete depending on your speed and skill level. Peaceful scenery, very isolated, just a nice place to walk and relax. Parking is limited but it keeps too many people from being on the trail all at once which is nice. Great place to walk your dog.

absolutely gorgeous place to go. They have a boat launch. There is fishing off of the shore available. During the summer months, there’s raspberries lining the trail. Great place to walk dogs. Be on the lookout for poison ivy. It is out there. People do walk their dogs out there often. Sobe on the lookout for dog droppings as well. Place has a variety of fish. Not really good for handicap people. Not wheelchair accessible.

A beautiful natural area that has been preserved for hiking and bird watching. Also great for creek stomping with the kids! Not usually busy. We usually have the place to ourselves during the week. A tough hike in some spots but I recomend it. Wear boots, not sneakers or, lole I saw, flip flops. I guess they don't mind broken toes. The trail is mud, rocks, and tree roots

This entrance is the more difficult end of the hike. The trail doesn’t loop so you’ll have to turn around at some point. You start at the top of the hill and hike down rocky terrain until you reach level ground. All along the water. Very beautiful would not do without boots or if it is wet conditions. There’s a southern parking lot for a more relaxed hike.

Martic Township Park, located near Lancaster, PA, offers a 1.9-mile hiking trail that is perfect for experienced hikers seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure. The park features natural water elements and stunning forest views. It's not your typical park but more of a nature reserve with open grasslands, wildflower meadows, and newly planted trees adding to the River Hills forest.
This place is great! The name is kinda deceiving, it isn’t really a park, but more like a nature reserve type area. I went with my father, sister, and her boyfriend and we had a great time. We hiked to the stream and omg there was SO MUCH petrified wood. For any fossil hunters out there, this place is a gold mine! (Let’s keep it to ourselves though 😉) If you picked up a random rock from the stream, like 90% chance it’s petrified wood. It’s insane. My sister and father tried to fish, but the water was too shallow in most areas. I did see a few crayfish though. Highly recommend for hikes/fossil hunting!
Pet M — Google review
Moderately strenuous trail with some steep climbs and descents over a Ridgeline to the creek below. Trails meanders along the creek and is blazed but you have to be watching. Several creek crossings and only passed one other hiker in the trail today. Needed an hour + to complete the 2.5 out and back.
Amy M — Google review
This is probably a very beautiful park but we made the mistake of going on a 90 degree day in summer. Don't do that. Also, that yellow trail? Basically a steep, straight up climb from the parking lot. And I mean straight up. And then straight back down. To a bridge over a creek that is guarded by angry bees who really don't want you on their bridge. To get away, you have to go BACK UP that steep straight trail and back down, covered in bee stings this time. Saw some ghost pipes, though. Can't say it was worth it. Wishing you better luck. Stay off the bridge.

Turkey Hill Nature Preserve, located in Columbia, offers a variety of hiking trails for all skill levels. The 3.5-mile scenic trail provides stunning views of the Susquehanna River and is perfect for an easy hike. For a more challenging adventure, visitors can explore the 60-mile Conestoga Trail that passes through rolling hills, farmlands, and covered bridges.
Turkey Hill is in my top 3 favorite places to hike in the area. The initial hill is challenging. The overlook at the top to the left makes it worth it. The trail continues to the right along the fence. It will eventually lead into the woods. The path is rocky. There will be a few more outlooks where the river can be seen. There is a small stream crossing with rocks to step on to get across. Shortly after the stream, I go around the metal gate, then climb over the boulders where the waterfall is, which leads back to the Enola Lowgrade trail. However, there are more trails to the left of the metal gate that I haven’t been on. I was here last Sunday and I saw less than ten people on the trails. Sometimes in the summer, it’s crowded. This is a beautiful hike that I highly recommend!

LancasterHistory is a local-history venue that offers a variety of attractions, including exhibits, galleries, an arboretum, and tours of President Buchanan's home. The history of Lancaster dates back to the 1st century when a Roman fort was built in the area. After the Romans left Britain, little was known about Lancaster until the 11th century when it fell under Norman rule.
What a nice day at the Lancaster Museum. Excellent perspective on the last 300 years of history. I learned about the past presidents and some of the people who I’ve heard of, but did not know how they contributed. I’m looking forward to coming back while the library is open.
Baron M — Google review
A nice facility. As far as being a museum, there is not much in the way as far as exhibits go. The history aspect we suspect is for researchers eyes only. The real draw is the fact that this is where you must buy the tickets to see the adjacent presidential home.
WV L — Google review
Nice historical look into the life of Pennsylvania's first president and his homestead.
JD — Google review
The Lancaster History Museum and President James Buchanan's Wheatland are the same venue. We didn't peruse the museum collection, but watched the movie and toured the mansion. The excellent movie explains Buchanan's political life, going deep into Buchanan's motives and actions that failed to keep the nation together. The house and its furnishings are almost entirely original to Buchanan's time there and the tour guide gives an excellent summary of Buchanan's personal life.
Thomas M — Google review
Very informative about both local and national history. I particularly loved the visible storage/processing area in the basement. It is worth the time for a quick visit while in Lancaster, and LH actually also maintains the Buchanan house (which is also great.) [March 2025]

Loved learning about Pres. Buchanan and especially enjoyed the house tour. Absolutely beautiful and authentic. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. The gardens were beautiful and the out buildings were interesting.

This location, The Home of former President James Buchanon, was absolutely fascinating. The home is in lovely condition for it's obvious age, and they are doing wonders restoring and preserving the originality of the home. The volunteer tour guide was deeply knowledgeable about the family, and hilarious, VERY quick-witted!

Musser Park is a historic green space in the town, offering a variety of activities and events for residents and visitors. It hosts town festivals, summer camps, holiday events, bake sales, fundraisers, beer gardens, and concerts throughout the year. The park features playground equipment for children of all ages and provides ample space for picnics and relaxation under the shade of numerous trees. Additionally, it offers chess/checkers tables and serves as a starting point for community events like races.
Kid friendly playground for the little ones and a separate jungle gym for the bigger kids. Has the soft rubber squishy ground around the play sets for any falls. Also dog friendly for the fur babies! Nice picnic tables and a walking trail around the whole park. They have bands and events there quite often as well. Nice clean park.

Our go-to park! It's so cute with the perfect little walking trail for dogs, and the playground for kids. Just a nice way to spend an afternoon, and even though it's in the city there's always parking. Plus it's within walking distance of coffee AND ice cream.

Went to an event over the weekend. The park was very clean. There is parking but very limited. There is a playground but I didn't visit it. Plenty of benches to sit and also a few tables (unless ppl brought them). Felt safe but sort of dark. I only gave a 4 star because the event was over, I went to go use the bathroom and it was locked. Seem as though there is no time to use right after the event.
M S — Google review
It's got a pathway going thru/around the park. A playground with swings. A water sprinkler(at the time of this post), bench seats throughout, a large flat grassy area to maybe throw a ball around or a frisbee. I didn't catch if they have a water fountain. You could have a picnic. Feels safe during the day. Likely wouldn't go in during the night or dusk.

The Manor Township Community Park is a small park located in the town of Mountville. It features a playground, baseball field, and basketball court.
This place is awesome! It’s so big and pretty secluded, and it has everything you need! 3 pickleball courts (no fences around the outside, but they are decent), at least 2 playground, 3 pavilions with grills (pretty big), an indoor bathroom, 2 baseball fields, and trees that are perfect for hammocking. I believe there are trails as well though I haven’t tried them yet:) Love this place; so unique and quiet!
Leah F — Google review
Grew up going to this park. Very large with amenities for just about everything. Bathrooms and running water for the warm half of the year. Large open fields, baseball diamonds, basketball courts and a Frisbee golf course that is very popular. This park is a great place for cycling, skating, fishing, and even has a small woods trail. Perfect place for a kids birthday party or a picnic. My only complaint is that they should implement more areas dedicated for native plants/wildflowers and not quite so much grass—it wouldn't subtract from the usefulness of the park at all
Isaac L — Google review
Fantastic spot to walk, has a loop to do laps. Back part is shaded & peaceful, the terrain blocks out noise. Well maintained.
Susan F — Google review
Spacious park with at least 3 large pavilions, kids play area, restrooms, smooth walking paths, sporting areas, large open grassy areas and is well-maintained. Still exploring, so I am likely leaving out some other great features.

I just like walking there. It's largely secluded, with a lot of simple natural beauty. It has playground equipment, a frisbee golf course, baskeball courts, and three pavilions. But I just like exploring it's books and crannies.
William G — Google review
This is the nicest engineered park. The paved walkways connect everything together. The pavilions are beautiful and the toilets are maintained. The Frisbee course is integrated across the creek and the bridges are a wonderful feature. The signage around the park welcomes people and informs. It feels like a community of friendly neighbors.

Beau's Dream Dog Park at Buchanan Park is a top-rated dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs. It features a wading pool, basketball court, walking trails, and play areas for dogs. The park also offers sitting areas for owners and water features. Visitors praise the responsible dog owners who frequent the park and note that it's a great place for dogs to have fun.
Great dog park, spacious play area, great seating to relax and converse with others as well. The clean up stations were filled and very helpful and water stations were fantastic. It would be nice if everyone would clean up after their dog but that's not the case and it's a real shame because having this park in our community is a great blessing. Other than that, an absolutely great dog park.

I was in Lancaster for the day with my dog (who love a good dog park) and found this place on Google Maps. We had a lovely time romping with some dogs. It looks like it must be a really fun place in the summer time. There is no grass or mud (all AstroTurf).

Actually it was a very long and large Historical park dedicated to the community by a couple about 100 years ago for the community in their will. There are beautiful ponds and one of them has a fountain. This was on my trip w my friend to Pennsylvania last week. There are many picknic benches and a food booth that sells hot dogs, hamburgers, juices, and 1 dollar bottles of water. ❤️😃 Ducks swam around in each pond w many beautiful trees to enjoy.
Arlene G — Google review
It's a nice dog park. Some people need to pick up after their dogs as the park provides bags and trash receptacles. Also some dog owners need to use the correct size for their dogs to play in. We have small dogs, Hope (in Purple) and Gibbs (in Orange) loved being able to run and play.
Michelle S — Google review
This place is so much fun for the pooches! This fenced in park has lots for the dogs to explore and is wonderful for socializing! There are several water fountains to keep the pups hydrated ( and some for their humans too!) Also, in the warmer months there are splash pads to keep them cool! Would highly recommend this dog park!
Ashley M — Google review
A few good things we liked: turf, instead of grass, the water features for the dogs to cool off. After hearing great things about this dog park, we decided to come check it out! We were disappointed because the park was kind of junky. The splash pad was cool, literally, for the dogs but the park is in need of some TLC. Grass is long and the area around the splash pad could use some power washing as there is dried dog poop stuck to the concrete. I hope some care is given because I can see this being a great place for doggos to hang out and cool off!
Tracey — Google review
I’ve gone to this park for almost 5 years and my dog loved it. Unfortunately I won’t be back. Over the last year or two I’ve realized it’s a bunch of lazy dog owners that instead of tending to their own dogs would rather sit around gossiping with each other like high schoolers. I’ve witnessed first hand adults talking poorly about others that are “regulars”. If all you’re going to do is sit around and talking to other people while your dog shits everywhere, humps everyone and steals other dogs toys then go somewhere else. There’s actual PEOPLE parks. This is a DOG park. I can get past the fact that multiple people don’t clean up after their pets there. I never really cared that there’re “rules” posted at the gate that aren’t enforced. Nor did it bother me that there’s a viral tik tok video of a big fight there. Not to mention I’ve seen the cops respond twice. Human beings are truly just awful. What bothers me is how other peoples dogs constantly interrupt me and my dog by stealing our things and then say redundant things like “sorry” and continue talking to your friends. Just a few weeks ago I tried getting there before 8 AM for a beautiful cool morning fetch. A ladies dog wouldn’t stop trying to mount my dog. She had the audacity and absent mindedness to shout “Oh you can just push him off!” I’m not there to tend to YOUR dogs or play with YOUR dogs. I wish some of these “adults” that attend the DOG PARK regularly with THEIR DOGS would actually tend to THEIR DOGS. I didn’t even include the more egregious things I’ve witnessed and experienced there. I’m done.

Nestled in the heart of Lancaster, PA, Noel Dorwart Park is a hidden gem that beautifully blends nature with urban life. Spanning 70 acres, this park features an impressive 3.5 miles of well-maintained gravel trails that meander through diverse landscapes including fields, marshlands, and wooded areas alongside the serene Little Conestoga Creek. Once a landfill site, it has transformed into a picturesque oasis where visitors can enjoy peaceful walks on mostly level paths.
Beautiful little park in the middle of an urban area! The area the park is in now used to be a landfill, but looking at it now you could never tell! There is a cool little bridge going over a stream, as well as some boardwalk over a wet section. Although the park is small, they have a variety of well kept gravel trails to walk on. If you are in the area and want to do a short walk in a unique little park, Noel Dorwart Park is an awesome choice!

Another unassuming park that is an incredible spot to find nature and one of the best places to bird in the county! Tucked between neighborhoods and shopping centers, this beautiful park (managed by the LCSWMA) has 3.5 miles of trails within 70 acres of preserve. The trail system winds through fields, marshlands, wooded areas, and runs adjacent to the Little Conestoga Creek. Noel Dorwart is a beautiful and easy walk with mostly level gravel paths. Plenty of parking as well!

I'd give six stars if I could. This place is my solace ever since I moved to the area. I run here most days, taking in the nature and wildlife. If you go at the right times, you can see deer, tortoises, frogs, birds, squirrels, and snakes (watch out!). If you go to Harrisburg Pike and back, the partially-paved trail runs about 3 miles. You can also cross over to Longs Park to cover more distance.

Pretty awesome place for a birthday party. Our group of 8 year old had the time of their lives. There are so many different activities to choose from. The sky zip line was an overall favorite as well as the obstacle course. I was surprised that they also offered laser tagged go carts. Although there were plenty of people, the place felt surprisingly roomy and not at all crowded. The pizza was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. The room was booked only until 1 pm, but we're were able to stay and play as long as we wanted afterward. We had to drag the kids out.

Park
Sixth Ward Park in Lancaster, PA is a serene and beautiful escape offering various recreational activities for families. The park features a wading pool, softball field, basketball courts, playground, and picnic tables. It's known for its free splash pool supervised by attentive staff and participation in the summer meals program. With ample grassy areas for picnics and open spaces to relax, it's an ideal spot for family outings.
What a great idea! This is only the second playground I have been to that offers a small FREE pool area for kids! The plus side about this place is that it has staff there to keep an eye on anyone in the pool area. So bad behavior won't be tolerated inside the pool area. It has a small swing set, play area, 2 basketball courts, small baseball field, small pavilion area, benches and picnic tables that surround the grounds. With plenty of grass area to picnic. The park seems to be kept up with the cleanliness. And the staff is very attentive, with 6 to 7 people on shift. The only downside is you have children running around outside the pool area with very bad mouths. Parents fault, not the township. I did notice they provide snacks for the kids that attend the water area at 3pm. That is actually a great idea! It takes alot out of a kid playing outside and not have a snack. So bravo to you guys! For reference to future visitors, the water area is opened and staffed Monday thru Friday from 12pm until 4:30 pm. With the snack break occurring from 3pn until 3:30pm, at which they lock down the water area. There are restrooms available during the time frame of the pool hours also. Definitely take your kiddos for a first time visit to see how you like it!

Would be helpful for those not from here to know that the hours for the splash park are M-F from noon to 4:30. We showed up today, Saturday, to find it was closed after we were turned away from a pool that was at capacity. Sad kids.

LOVE the splash pool here it is free and the volunteers do an amazing job, this location participates in the summer meals program. It does get pretty crowded during those hot summer days. Beautiful park. Small playground, a nice hiking trail, and a great area for creek stomping.
Cassandra M — Google review
My son absolutely loves going here. He enjoys climbing on top of the monkey bars and using the slides. The park is usually very clean. Never had any issues there. Not far down the trail is a creek that is shallow enough for most kids to walk in. My kid also loves doing that. There is a hiking trail that goes for about a mile and empties out into a development. Along the trail there are 3 different areas that are good for entering the creek. The water has variable depth throughout the further you go on the trail. I've never fished here, but it is permitted and the sign tells you what type of fish you might find. Although I can't verify, someone did say they stock the creek with fish. There is a single porta potty currently, but there is a structure being built right now that looks like it could be an actual restroom. Highly recommend.
Matthew M — Google review
Nice park with playground equipment & covered pavilion with grill. Took lovely hike across the bridge and up a hill. Caution: climb can be steep with rocky footpaths. My kids enjoyed wading in the creek and discovering fish and crayfish swimming about. A restroom is being built. There is a porta-potty.
Miriam B — Google review
I drove to this park to just to see it for the first time. I didn't have enough time to really check it out. It has a small restroom that was very clean. I didn't see a lot of parking spaces. There may be more further into the park. I stayed mostly at the entrance of the park. It wasn't to bad to leave the park as I crossed a lane of traffic at 4:50 PM.
Dennis R — Google review
I love being by the water. You cannot hear the traffic as it is down hill from parking and the playground. I wish there were more benches along the river. They're is only one picnic table down by the water. Over all it's a decent small park. This is my second time and the grass was not fully cut. Only oblong the edge of the river and tree line. Not in the middle to where my family could have thrown a frisbee or football which we did bring with us.

(Translated by Google) Mainly because it is a nice and good park to play baseball and above all because it belongs to a proud baseball player from my island of Puerto Rico. I thank LANCASTER PENSILVANIA for dedicating this park to our hero Roberto Clemente.

Park
Beautiful hidden park. Nice wildlife viewing and great programs offered by the church.
Hannah R — Google review
When you Google local parks it gives this location. After arriving here to play we were asked to leave because it's the churches/preschool park. There are no signs saying it was private or was closed during specific signs. The only sign present is the Janet Radar sign stating this park is made for small children who should be accompanied by an adult.
Sammy K — Google review
A well kept secret below Homestead Village off Marietta Avenue. A taste of nature in the woods with pond, creek, gardens. Its owned by Church of the Apostles. The church and its preschool takes advantage of this natural park. There are gazebos for reading and meditating.
Judith P — Google review

City park
A great little park not far from the main part of the city. A nice place to stop and recharge from shopping, walking and site seeing around town. A good stops for kids to unwind. It’s tucked in enough that you could forget that your that close to the center of town. We normally come here when waiting for our table at Rachel’s Creperie Would recommend it to all ages!
Anthony O — Google review
The equipment is a bit old, but my kid loves the sooper steep slide. Theres a good mix of stuff for such a small park and its great for a mean cup morning for me and park for her. Its also a more scenic cut through from Harrisburg Pike or James st. down to lemon than the sidewalk. Theres a prettie garden at the lemon entrance.
Sara O — Google review
A nice, small rail trail. Great for a leisurely walk.
