The 25 best views in Omaha

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is truly one of the best zoos I’ve ever visited! The aquarium was my absolute favorite — beautifully designed and so fun to explore. We also enjoyed the Skyfari ride, the train, and the carousel (we got the ticket with the ride pass, which was worth it). It’s also nice that you can bring your own iced coffee or drinks, though there are certain areas where food and beverages aren’t allowed. Watching the gorillas laze around and nap was hilarious, and the seal exhibit was another highlight — we could’ve stayed there for hours. The Zoo Passport was a fun little activity that added to the experience. The zoo itself is huge, so plan ahead and wear comfy shoes. There’s lots of parking and plenty of food options. Overall, such an amazing experience — definitely a 5/5!

I visited in October 2025, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The zoo grounds were beautifully maintained, with vibrant fall foliage that made just walking through the park a pleasure. Everything was spotless — it’s clear the staff takes great pride in the upkeep. The IMAX movies were a pleasant surprise — we saw features on oceans and elephants, and both were informative and visually stunning. Definitely worth the time! Among the highlights were the butterfly pavilion, which was peaceful and magical, and the aquarium, which was absolutely fantastic. Every animal we saw looked healthy and well cared for. The giraffe exhibit is open and scenic, and the elephant enclosure is especially impressive — massive, naturalistic, and clearly designed with the animals’ wellbeing in mind. It was great to see them playing and swimming freely. We also loved watching the sea otters, penguins, and big cats — all active and entertaining. For lunch, we stopped at the Aquarium Café, and the food was much better than I expected from a zoo café. The salad was crisp and fresh, and the chicken pasta was hot, flavorful, and satisfying. This was truly a day to remember. I highly recommend visiting — just be sure to plan for the whole day, because there’s so much to see and do. It’s one of the best zoos I’ve ever experienced.

I have been here a couple of times. Visiting this famous zoo is always a great experience. Here's my review: I went here on a Saturday, arrived around 11:00, and there was plenty of parking. I recommend getting tickets online since arriving at the entrance, there are long lines for getting tickets physically, but going into the zoo took less than 2 minutes. You can also bring some snacks and your water bottle so you don't have to buy the more expensive food or drinks. From there we just enjoyed the zoo and took a lot of pics. And just seeing these animals up close is just awesome. Hope some of you guys find this helpful see ya👋

Awesome Zoo! Great exhibits and variety of animals. Reasonable priced entry and they encourage bringing your own water bottle to refill. My only advise is get there early and do the desert done and aquarium as some of your first stops as they can get a little crowded

I understand why this zoo is rated #1!my first impression is the rainforest with the monkeys. Man that was such a delight to see. I walked around so much my feet were on fire😊I took a little break by getting on the sky lift ($7 rt) and saw an over view of all the animals.There were so many highlights to this zoo I would highly recommend to everyone! Money well spent!!!

Fantastic zoo! It was pricey for a zoo, bit it was 100% worth it! I grimaced as I paid the kiosk extra bucks for "all rides" without even knowing what they were. So it for me unlimited tram rides, unlimited locomotive rides, unlimited skyline rides, and I think the carousel too. All of the rides I went on were fantastic for a zoo! Really helped rest my feet so I could see more exhibits. I don't have a bad thing to say about any of the exhibits. Truly one of the nation's best zoos!

Incredible zoo. This comes as no surprise, but it has all one would want and more, from my perspective. On the scorcher of a day we visited, I appreciated that they have misting stands in various locations around the zoo as well as signs that display the signs of heat exhaustion. We went throughout the outdoor portion for as much as we could handle in the heat and we loved all of the animals there were to see. Some old favorites like elephants and giraffes along with a few animals I was not previously familiar with. Loved the butterfly atrium and I'm always a fan of an aquarium. There seemed to be lots of places within the zoo to grab food and drinks as well. Also be sure to stop by their great gift shop. We had a blast!

A beautiful old train station with plenty of history and exhibits to enjoy. You can easily spend 1-2 hours in here. Staff is friendly and everything is clean. This is one of the best museums in the midwest!

Wow! There is a lot more here than initially meets the eye. When you park on the top level of the parking deck, you see the upper of level of the former train station. The crown jewel exhibit is the waiting room with its art deco design... It's truly beautiful. Then on the lower level, you'll learn a lot about Omaha ... It's architecture, it's companies, and it's people. The fun of walking through multiple railroad cars with luxury accommodations. Furthmore, there are so many interesting facts about the city and it's emergence as a critical city.

I’m from Georgia and I was taking my first solo trip to Nebraska. I stopped at the Lauritzen Garden and asked a random couple what they would recommend me visit. They quickly replied the Durham museum. I stepped inside the old train station now museum and I was just blown away by it. I was then warmly greeted at the front entrance. I asked where I should start my experience and the gentleman said I think you should start downstairs where the museum is located. The museum is so well put together!I spent a couple of hours there.

Wow, this museum is just amazing! Such a gorgeous building, and the exhibits are so interesting and informative. Our favorite by far was the train cars on the lower level. What a treat it was to walk through the beautifully restored Pullman cars! We would definitely visit this museum again!🩷🚂🚂🚂

Worth seeing if you have time to spare while visiting Omaha and want to take a brief step back in time to learn more about what train travel was like in the 1930s. Also includes many other historical exhibits going back to the 1700-1800s. Great museum overall.

Definitely recommend this awesome historical and hands-on Museum! The history of Omaha is fascinating and the exhibits do a wonderful job. And you have to keep going back because their temporary exhibits are phenomenal.

For those who love being one with nature, this is the place for you! I wish I could have seen more flowers in bloom, but the scenery is worth its weight in silver alone. Most gardens I’ve seen are confined by the layout of the city surrounding it; that’s not the case here. Lauritzen Gardens sits on 100 acres! It’s a wonderful location for a romantic stroll, for children to release energy during a nature scavenger hunt, or for finding peace and solitude. I appreciate what this place offers and visit more cities that use this model when building their gardens.

A beautiful, charming, peaceful place. The vast gardens were SO beautiful, the pictures I got here were unbelievable. I’m so glad we stopped by here. We walked to all the gardens our feet allowed us to (be prepared for a lot of walking!), and then took the tram to see the rose garden and model train garden. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you Omaha for such a beautiful vacation 💚💛

This garden has lots to see. I was put off by the high entrance fee, but after the tour, it's justified. If you have limited time, take the ~50-min tram for a small fee. The tram also offers an overview/preview of the garden if you plan to walk the grounds. A visually appealing and hands-on children's garden. Exterior ticket purchasing kiosk at the entrance.

When I travel to a new state I tend to google fun places to visit. Lauritzen gardens popped up several times so I said why not😊My first impression was little children would really enjoy this place! It’s very child friendly. I asked a volunteer as an adult could I get on the rope trampoline. He said of course! He told me some history about the garden and talked about the different flowers. I traveled alone and I felt so comfortable being there. I thought the fun stopped at the tiny homes but there was so much to explore!They are still building on to the back so it’s a lot less gardens. When it’s complete I’m sure it will be beautiful.

It was wonderful. Lots of walking, but worth it. Few areas under construction, but opening next year. Not crowded & got right in. Took lots of photos. My favorite places were the kids play area & the miniature railway. And just loved all the butterflie.

First time to visit in 15 years as a resident and I will say I'm kicking myself I waited this long. Gorgeous grounds that rival and botanical garden I've been to. Tour guides that led our school class on October 13th were phenomenally knowledgeable not just on the grounds but on the plants...

We are an elderly couple, visiting from Kansas City on a Friday afternoon on a gorgeous Aut day! Loved the gardens and the conservatory, very beautiful and kept up nicely. Will come back to see it in the Spring for sure!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum. In addition to offering stunning architecture, the art itself is eclectic and on par with some of the museums we have explored in Europe. There is also an amazing room downstairs for kids to express their creativity. Truly, this museum offers something for all ages.

The Joslyn is a great art museum. I saw a Thomas Heart Benton, a Monet, and a Degas. I can't help but compare it to the Nelson-Atkins, even though it is smaller with a smaller collection. Just like the Nelson, it is a few buildings with different styles attached to each other. The buildings are just as beautiful as the art they house. It's a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. I really appreciated that many of the signage was in English and Spanish. The grounds are beautiful.

Building is gorgeous and the newer addition is stunning. Everything is so well kept and immaculate. Such an interesting story of the man and woman that started it and I was impressed with the foundations supporting it and the artwork. Free admission supported by The Holland Foundation-so generous!

This was my first time visiting Joslyn in almost 25 years as I no longer live in the area. I grew up in Omaha and visited Joslyn many times over the years for school trips, for family enlightenment of the arts, also for their Jazz on the Green concerts where we would visit the museum before the concerts. Visiting the Joslyn this time I was very impressed with the recent building additions as well as the art collections in the various galleries. Well done Joslyn, this museum would be good fit for any city anywhere. Plus free parking and free admission, wow.

I haven't been to Joslyn since I was a kid, so I was excited to see it again during a recent trip to Omaha. What an AMAZING place if you love art! Even if you dont care for art, the building itself is truly spectacular and worth seeing!

Amazing place for children. Lots of activities and things they can learn from. There are fun things for adults that can awaken the child in you. A must visit for children when in Omaha.

It has certainly changed since the last time I visited 36 years ago. My 5 year old loved it! We spent 3 hours there and could have spent the entire day if I had planned appropriately. It has a lot of history, science, and art activities for the kids as well as a ton of different play areas such as hyvee grocery, a Dr's office, mechanic, apartment building, agricultural, etc. Will definitely go back!

The 5 year old and 1.5 year old both had a blast. The attractions easily entertain for half a day. A snack stand upstairs keeps the adults moving. The air/ball attraction was definitely the highlife. Highly recommended!

My kids have enjoyed the Children’s Museum on many of occasions. We especially enjoy visiting the traveling exhibits. There’s something fun for all ages. We love that the museum partners with GetOutPass, our local library, and has annual membership options - it makes things affordable and convenient.

It's a great place for kids to go and learn but I'd like to see some different activities on the first floor. The kids love going and there is a lot to do, it's been the same on the bottom floor for years.

It's an amazing place for little children. My grandkids love being there. They have so many options for an educational playing tools. Children are learning by playing. I'd recommend all parents to bring their children. Even parents, grandparents are having fun. It's really lovely to see children happy, excited and running one area to other and not wanting to apart from fun.

It was back to school weekend. They have activities set out to do but did not have all the supplies needed. Workers were sitting on their phone instead of interacting with the kids and explaining how to do the different projects. The Lego people were the only ones willing to stop and talk and explain what they were doing.

Good area to take your kids, the playground is really nice and maintained. The statues are very detailed. Good place to spend the day.

Great place for kids to play, have fun and learn new things, a lovely view on the night of the River Plate, perfect for relaxing.

Really amazing spot down town . Big open area and it’s not all the same things to look at . Lots to look at and lots of open space . It’s a really great spot to take your kids as they do have a playground too! It’s kept very clean and there is a rink that you can also rent roller skates or in winter ice skates from what I was told. They have lots of flowers around and trees and they do have shaded spots as well it’s not all straight in the sunlight. It’s an easy walk and fairly handicap accessible. We have kids under 7 and they walked fine with us on the paths. They do have restrooms near the park for kids not sure on other spots .

I’ve always loved taking my kids here — it’s so peaceful and full of open space and nature. We love walking along the river and going back and forth between Iowa and Nebraska. The new expansion and growth are incredible! The updates have made it even more beautiful and welcoming. I absolutely love it here now.

This area is clean, safe and an excellent place to take long walks. There are also many places for kids, a dog park, roller skating rink, hammocks, fire pits with chairs, other sitting areas. Just a great place to walk around and / or relax!

Very mixed feelings on this. It’s a great playground and *finally* playgrounds in the US are taking note of the seemingly everywhere else standards of fenced in and one entrance. I’m sure this is all nice when you know this place. But wow visiting and trying to find your way around? Good. Luck. Signage is extremely lacking, and they made no effort to update Google maps with this area. I have no idea how new this area is, but it’s wildly inaccurate. Lakes in places they clearly don’t exist anymore. Pathways that aren’t shown. In park maps that only cover a small area and no idea what’s beyond that. So is this a great area once you’ve dragged you whining kids around far too much just trying to find how to get into the playground that you can see? Yeah. But good luck getting there.

This park & monuments were much cooler than I ever could have imagined. So many near features to appeal to kids as well as adults that you can't just find at any old basic park. We easily spent an hour here but could definitely have spent more time if it was a warmer season and the water play features were running. Great view of the river and awesomely educational monuments. Tons of free parking right next to the park and bathrooms were immaculately clean for public bathrooms. You have no good reason not to make this a stop amongst your Omaha plans!

What an amazing place, so much history here. It was nice to listen to the volunteers talk about the ship or the submarine. It's free as well. You can leave donations as well. I spent around 2 hrs here. Most of it was on the ship you can tour and the submarine. It's is well worth the trip here.

Very cool place. It is down a minimum maintenance road that looks like you are going the wrong way... you are not. The road is closed to the public when Freedom Park is not open. You drive on this road for about 1 mile. Alot of cool stuff, and the volunteers were very knowledgeable and kind. Unfortunately, due to some bad flooding, the submarine is not open for tours which is pretty obvious it is surrounded by piles of dirt, but you can see it from the ship. The ship was absolutely amazing and had a ton of neat things to see. We brought 2 small children and they were fascinated by it all. We spent about 1 hr looking at all the things.

Lots to see here! The volunteers have done an incredible job making history come to life. I was so impressed by all the details (particularly aboard Hazard) I kept forgetting to take pics, so these really don't do any justice. You'll just have to check it out for yourself!

This place is probably cool but it has such limited hours that it is very difficult to get to. It would be great if they would at least open it Friday afternoon instead of just a 5 hour window on Saturday.

Such an amazing thrilling experience.The volunteers were amazing and knowledgeable of what they did.And what they've been through is probably one of the coolest museums i've ever been too

This visit was a birthday gift to my husband. We weren't sure what we'd see but this was more than we expected! The volunteers are so valuable to the experience as are the exhibits and their place in history.

Very cute place downtown. Beer was good. Love being able to get a flight to sample multiple brews. Our party was disappointed that there wasn’t a “sour” beer. I was happy with the beers I sampled. Food was just okay. Tomato basil soup was 5 stars, but the spinach artichoke dip was only two stars due to being mostly melted butter. The adult grilled cheese was okay - the inclusion of apple butter onto the sandwich is great in theory, but I feel there was too much on the sandwich overpowering the cheese and bread.

When they’re on a date recently and was pleasantly impressed. We have been at this place before we sat inside. Their selection of regular food was nothing special to me. However, this time around when we went, we had an outside patio seating, which was very pleasant and very nice. It allowed us to observe Omaha. It allowed us to enjoy that outside perspective. The food was good this time around we ordered appetizers chicken wings were absolutely great. The sauce was not just splattered on the wings, and they seem like they were actually marinated in the buffalo sauce which added to the flavor tremendously. We also ordered fish and chips and after having Gordon Ramsay‘s fish and chips, I was not expecting a whole lot from that. not because it’s not a name brand food or so but mainly because a lot of places in the United States are a hit or miss more miss with the fish and chips than hit. Well, I can say that upstream brewing company knows how to do their fish and chips and they were hands-down absolutely delicious. We would come back here for specifically that meal again.. There are seasonal brews and beers were great. We enjoyed every ounce that. I highly recommend this place.

A good selection of some very good beers--I especially liked the Dundee Scottish Ale. The brewery is in an old 2 story brick building with tons of character and comfortable seating. The second floor has pool and game tables in a large open bar area. There is a large selection of food options from appetizers to sandwiches to entrees. The burgers and fries were very good, The Rueben, although tasty, was served on some very thick, hard bread. I ended up eating the meat and sauerkraut, but left most of the bread on the plate. Service was good and the food came out very quickly. After we settled the bill, we felt rushed by the waitstaff although a few of us were still talking as we finished our drinks. There were plenty of empty tables and no line of people waiting to be seated. Sometimes it nice to sit and finish your drinks without pressure to leave.

I visited Upstream Brewing on the last night of a business trip and chose to sit at the bar. I ordered a Saison Botanique, which had a delightful saison bite with strong floral notes—I was thoroughly impressed. After sampling a few of their other beers, I returned to the Saison Botanique to pair with my dinner. For my meal, I chose the salmon burger with fries. The salmon burger was good but not exceptional, as it felt somewhat dry, though I still enjoyed it. The fries, however, were outstanding, with a perfect crunch and excellent preparation. The service during the meal was adequate but not remarkable, much like the salmon burger. Overall, the Saison Botanique and fries were the highlights of the experience, while everything else met my expectations. I would gladly return on my next trip to Omaha. Rounding up from a 4.5 to a 5 since it’s a brewery and the beer was delicious.

The burgers are nothing great. We sat outside, where there are plenty of bugs smaller than the black specks in the ranch, which was quite excellent actually. The bugs bite. This grew especially tiresome while we waited 10 minutes in the wind after paying to get our cards back. This was my first time in the Omaha Old Market, but I’m sure there’s better food around.

Went on a Saturday afternoon to eat and watch husker game. Our waitress Lizzy was totally amazing!!! Attentive but not over attentive, let us watch the entire and continued to provide service. Food was very good and the smells of fresh baked bread were great ...so my party said...I was unable to smell it. Absolutely would recommend this place and if you get Lizzy as your server you will not be disappointed!

Just stopped in for a drink. Despite being fairly busy, I got great service and bartenders were on top of everything. Good selection of beers. Food menu looked great too, but I'd just eaten elsewhere.

This was a must-see part of Omaha, truly making my visit to the city a unique experience. The combination of the rich Lewis and Clark history with the majestic nature of the bridge, my hour-long trip here to the other side and back was relaxing and gave me great perspective of the city (and the Iowa side too!). My favorite parts were the troll at the bottom of the bridge and the amazing views of the skyline of Omaha, great picture point!

This is one of the most amazing pedestrian bridges I've visited. The view was breath taking and it was so peaceful. It wasn't overly crowded today (Saturday) so that was a plus. The best part was the signage showing being in 2 states at once. 😁 Definitely recommend to visit at least one time if you are in the area!

In August 2025, we visited the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge in Omaha, Nebraska. This bridge spans the Missouri River between Iowa and Nebraska, and it offers stunning views of Downtown Omaha. There was abundant free parking on the Nebraska side. The bridge is about 20 feet wide, and we did not feel afraid or uncomfortable walking across the bridge. There is no cost to walk across the bridge, either. This was a super fun and memorable experience to walk across this bridge and back and enjoy the scenery.

A gorgeous area accompanying the RiverFront. There is chalk graffiti on the ground, the bridge is breath taking from every angle, and the mighty Missouri River is fun to be looked down upon. Plus, one can stand in two states at once!

Crossed early afternoon without a crowd. The entire bridge is 3,000 feet (slightly over a half mile). There are two ramps entrances with the NPS parking lot offering more parking. Nice views on the N/I divide. If you plan to hang there, expect temperature change and wind to increase. Easy cross for walkers, bikers, and wheelchairs. The Iowa side has a relaxing vibe with a--we are not alone--piece of art you will find irresistible to photograph. Relax once you reach the Iowa side with benches, additional walking paths, and a great view of Omaha.

Very nice pedestrian bridge. The sign says it's 3000 ft. Good views to look out over the river and downtown Omaha. There are trails you can get to on both sides of the river.

A great place to visit with friends and family. Especially for a nice walk and enjoying the aerial view of the Missouri River and the neighborhood, like the luminarium. Kids enjoy it a lot.

This park is one of the greatest ideas I have seen in any downtown area I've visited in my life. It's free, open to all and very spacious. You can bring your pets and even see wildlife. You can jog or run. You can sit down and enjoy the environment. You can picnic. You basically can do everything.

I visited most recently when Taste of Omaha was going on. There were so many food vendors and love the ride options. Beautiful spot to have this set up with the water fountain, swings and everything available nearby.

Very nice park. There is an outdoor roller skating park, swings, and a walking path. The fountains are beautiful, and there are really nice areas where you can sit or have a picnic. Very well maintained. Also, the overlook bridge is very cool.

What an awesome park! Loved being able to walk the paved path around and enjoy the fountain and many seating areas to relax. Playground for the kids and 2 areas that look over the river.

We were visiting Omaha and decided to try this park out. It was BEAUTIFUL! There was plenty of street parking for $1 per hour. It's a great place for a photoshoot, skating (you can rent skates), bike riding , a boat ride after 5 pm, or just relaxing.

Very nice park. Good place to stop and walk. Great play place for kids to play. Relaxing spots to sit. Easy off and back on highway.

Visiting from out of town and went to the 8:30 service. It was very nice and not super busy. I wish they had a choir with the 8:30 service though. It sounds like they save the choir for the 10:30 service.

St. Cecilia Cathedral..one of the biggest of the top ten church in the Inited States. It’s free to go inside and enjoy the beautiful decor. A great place to visit. Easy parking

Went to the annual Flower Festival on the last weekend in January, and it was beautiful as always. It's something I look forward to every year! Well worth a visit!

The flower festival was great! I was not prepared to sit in the pews and wait for my turn to go but it wasn't bad. The flower displays were gorgeous and the church is quite pretty as well.

Five star hangout! Beautiful cathedral with outstanding acoustics for choral music. Parking is close. Lovely setting for Christmas particularly. Sit closer to front to see the pageantry of the mass. God bless you all!

Can't say enough about the beauty of the place, inside out.. The carvings and paintings are amazing. I visited here outside the church hours. It was mystical, the silence and the dim lights. The high ceiling and candle lights. Totally mesmerizing and peaceful. I would love to visit the place again.

Peg was a superlative tour guide with an exuberance of knowledge of the family and the castle's historical and cultural ramifications. The foundation has taken capacious and copious amounts of fervor to revitalize this epochal icon of the Midwest. Rare and extinct woods, Victorian and Scottish milieu throughout this home, make it a haven for those interested in the arts, architecture, and red-lettered artifacts of the early 20th century. Will come again, especially once the “man-cave” is restored.

In August 2025, we visited the Joslyn Castle & Gardens in Omaha, Nebraska. This home is on the National Historic Register and it offers some inside tours. We walked around the exterior and in the gardens, and we enjoyed our self-directed tour. The castle architecture is amazing, and they have nearby buildings, gates, and fences that maintain the castle theme. The Joslyn Castle was a great place to visit, and it was a fun and memorable experience.

My wife and I came down from Sioux City, IA, to Omaha to celebrate her birthday weekend back in late August. This castle looked like an interesting place to visit, so we decided to give it a try. Molly was a fantastic tour guide, and the Scottish style of architecture was beautiful. I found the chandeliers to be really cool, which explains why I took so many pictures of them! 😁 If you are a history lover like me and are looking for a great tour at a reasonable price, do yourself a favor and tour this lovely place!

The woodwork and detail that went into the building of this once private home are absolutely stunning. It is a long tour of a little over 2 hours but very interesting and well worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the castle's history including its former residents.

Missed the tour so not a true review. Took us about 10 minutes to roam the outside. If you need a quick leg stretch it's worth a quick stop.

I haven’t visited in years and we decided to stop by for some exploring in nature time with our cousins. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Fontenelle Forest is part of the Blue Star Museum program. Up to 6 people with active duty military identification can get free admission. The gift shop is well organized and has some cute items. The bathrooms were clean. It had rained the night before, so some trails were muddy and the slides were wet. The staff were so helpful in giving us ideas for what hikes to do. The boardwalk is so nice!! The kids had a great time! We loved seeing the birds and a lady came and spoke to the kids all about them and was so patient with their questions. We did not do the ropes course. It looked like it was well made and large, but couldn’t justify the really expensive price per person.

Plenty to do inside and out, stroller friendly, boardwalk or trails for walking. Beautiful forest experience in the city! There is a calendar for activities available for those whom are wanting to attend birdwatching events, there are classes for kids and families as well.

Wish we would have had more time, the trails are amazing! We will definitely be back and more prepared to hike. The rope course looks amazing, just ran out of energy. Fantastic place and a must see!

I've now gone twice, I live 3 hours away and in my opinion it is the best place to go in Omaha if you like nature and hiking. I asked an employee to record me proposing to my girlfriend and they happily made their arrangements to help me out. Great employees, great scenery.

Amazing facility. Just purchased a year membership. Loved the trails I took and the raptor reserve was so cute. Beautiful birds there.

Fontenelle is one of my favorite local spots to quickly get it in nature. The boardwalk is an awesome way to get a few miles in, with nature. If you're feeling more adventurous, there are miles of off boardwalk trails to enjoy!

Wonderful place to hike and take in the old growth forest trees. Beautiful and relaxing.

So fun and clean!! Perfect to spend the day with your family. Literally something for everyone. Perfect size to do everything in one day. We love it and it's definitely on our "return to" list. 🩷

Kids had so much fun! Best day together in a long time! Only thing is that the food is way to expensive. I would highly recommend going to fun plex this summer of you have kids of all ages. They even have an adult area a swim up bar. Just an all around fun place to be!

Our kids love the kiddie pool with the frog waterfall and the octopus slide!! They didn't wanna get out and leave!! Had so much fun!

We took our 5 year old son there, and the staff was nothing but kind to him. He is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum. The staff were patient and understanding of this. We would really love to come back once more before the summer is over!! We especially loved the experience we had with the kid rides, the operator of the cars comforted and me and reassured me that Gavin would be completely ok! And he was! That was the first time he ever rode on a kid ride all by himself!!

We went for the swim up bar and we were not disappointed. I was a little worried about cleanliness but everything was very nice. The bathrooms were some of the Best I have seen at a water park/pool. Drinks were nice and reasonable priced. Next time we visit we agreed we would like to go when they have the live music and the lazy river is 21 and over. We also will try ordering food to be delivered from other snack bars. We did enjoy watching the big bucket dump on kids in the splash zone. Overall a very nice time.

We love FunPlex! We first used visited using our GetOutPass and have visited at least once a year since! During one of our visits this summer, we rented a cabana which made a great place to relax in between the rides, slides, and food stands. So much fun!

Would be 5 stars but $40 l/person for what they offer seems like a bit much. They used to offer discounts, but now you can find any.

Beautiful home inside and out wonderful way to spend a couple hours the woman working there was very very knowledgeable and so kind. She answered all of our questions and was a welth of information. Can't wait to come back in the summer to see all the lovely gardens that surround the house!

The General Crook House Museum is a hidden gem! This Italianate style home is on the campus of the Omaha Metropolitan Community College. There is street parking and a parking lot available. If the door is locked during opening hours, ring the door as instructed by a sign on the door. We were greeted by Robin, a wonderful woman who wealth of knowledge about the house is unparalleled! She shared stories about residents of the military post and events of its time. We spent more time than we expected walking the rooms that have been restored with Victorian decor and furnishings. Ceilings, wallpapers, carpets, furniture, and items of the time period all combine for an incredibly rich experience. Be sure to look for the rare Treasury seal on the door knobs and antique butt hinges which allow the door to open 180 degrees. The outdoor gardens are worth the time too.

This is a lovely, well- maintained historical home, always beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Staff and volunteers are so welcoming, polite, and helpful. The reception room is one of our favorites; it includes a small Steinway piano and a Regina music box that plays songs using large metal disks. The sound is extraordinary! My 85 year old mother got an unplanned workout going up the many steps to the front door, because I hadn't even thought to ask if there was a handicapped entrance - which there is around back, thank goodness! (We'll be sure to go that way on our next visit.) There is also a small elevator inside if you are unable to walk up or down the impressive staircase. The Crook House is very much worth a few hours of your time, and you can see something new on each visit.

We had an amazing adventure here! From the moment we got up the stairs from the street we were greeted by our friendly hostess. She gave us a tour guide and we were able up learn about the facility at our own pace. This house has an amazing history. A visit here is definitely one that should be on anyone's bucket list. Beautiful and educational.

Awesome historical venue. Perfect for a wedding/party/event for less than 50. The garden was stunning. All of the guests could not believe how beautiful it was. Inside is a large well kept historic house that held just enough people for our wedding. Has a kitchen and bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs. Even has an elevator! Both of the museum volunteer workers were awesome to work with and both very helpful. I recommend visiting, not only for a awesome place to have your event, but just to learn about Omaha's past as well. Please leave a donation if you do!

There are some nice exhibits and gardens here; however, more maintenance is needed for much of the grounds. We liked the monument stones which detail past U.S. Presidents, Nebraska governors, etc.; nevertheless, they need to be updated for recent elections.

This was really cool, I just have to understand we visited during winter. Hopefully they will get it cleaned up but still very cool

Very educational. Learned a lot about President Ford. Turns out, he was never elected for vice president, nor for president. Very well maintained gardens. It is also in a beautiful older neighborhood. The education center is open Monday-Friday by appointment only.

As someone who loves history and politics, I was really excited to visit the birthplace of President Gerald Ford! Unfortunately it's underwhelming. I was disappointed that the display cases were covered in large amounts of spider webs and don't appear to be maintained. I am glad I stopped and would like to go back when the rose gardens are in full bloom.

It’s a beautiful garden with some nice little exhibits highlighting Gerald and Betty Ford. It’s too bad some of the stone and features of the garden aren’t kept in better shape. It’s a nice space!

I've lived in Omaha my whole life, but hadn't visited this site until recently. Nice gardens, lots of historical information. It would be a beautiful spot for wedding, engagement, or senior photos.

Google maps says this is open from 7:30 am to 10 pm. When we got there, the door was locked and there was a sign with a phone number saying open by appointment only. The outdoor garden was open and it was a small, pleasant area, but seeing the rest was too inconvenient.

I have been here multiple times. This is my first time reviewing it. I spent my childhood reading Zane Grey and Louis L'Amour books. Many times I used my imagination to picture these scenes. Staring at these statues cause memories of those stories on the wagon trail. A loneliness and dedication to a new land. Many of the pioneers had great faith...that the hardships they endured would lead to a great reward...a better land.

A beautiful sculpture park with incredible, life size figures. There's a green space and chairs on the hill behind the sculptures. Only 17 minute walk from the Old Market area and less time from the river.

Wow, just an amazing experience, it’s like walking into the past. The park is well designed and the monuments capture the spirit of the pioneer movement across America. Very clean with cast iron/metal statues and I’m amazed how well maintained everything is. No graffiti or no defacing of the statues. This is a must visit site, especially for today’s generation to see what America was like over 150 years ago. Thanks Omaha for keeping history alive.

A long history in just a Frame. Visited the Pioneer Courage monument midnight July 5th on my way home(Indiana) from Utah .

This is a "must see" place in Omaha! The heroic-sized statues are beautifully done with intricate and lifelike details. The park spans over several city blocks as buffalo stampede from the pioneer wagon train and then geese fly off from a pond and through a nearby building. The entire scene is a visual masterpiece that simply must be experienced in person and up close.

This was an amazing place to visit. I was blown away by the realism of the statues, their size, and the story that they tell. The park is nice and quiet, the plaques are informative, and the sculptures will force you to contemplate the pioneer spirit and way of life. A must visit in Omaha

Nice park with a trail around the lake, and flowers that brighten the scene. Bluffs in the background provide some nice photos. There is a playground for kids, and portajohns. Longer bike trail cuts throughthe park.

Lovely park with a small playground. The only problem was we paid to use the pavilion, and it was really dirty and had wasps. I didn't use the restrooms so I can't comment on their condition.

Very cute park! Nice little lake, and a lot of picnic tables and grill spots. I think this would be a perfect place for a family day where kids can play at the park and go fishing with a BBQ too! Wish it wasn't by the jail, but hey gotta work with what ya got.

It s a small but nice and clean park. It has a small lake with waterfowls and walking trails. Park has lot of park benches with grill and kids play area.

It's really a little late. If you want to take a little walk or a very short bike ride, then it is perfect for children. Just watch out for the Iowa DNR idiot. He will come out there to harass you and give you a ticket if you don't have a fishing license.

I love this lake! I especially love the trout stocking program the DNR does here in the fall and winter. Once the water gets cool enough to sustain trout they place them in the water and you can take up to five a day. They are tasty and fun to catch. In the summer, the lake has a lot of panfish and bass, also I have seen some people take some decent sized catfish out of here. There are also a ton of waterfowl such as pelicans, geese, and ducks that call the lake and the surrounding park home. Additionally, you can see muskrats, rabbits, frogs, and other creatures. It is super close to Omaha and Council Bluffs and a great little natural area. I would highly recommend a visit.

A cozy scenic rooftop bar. Bartenders are friendly and will recommend drinks, Omaha Swizzler was great! Bring a jacket if coming after nightfall, I hope they add some space heaters. There's one fire pit, and adding more fire will definitely even out the bar!

Amber is an exceptional bartender. We had the best experience in a hotel and loved Her service. Very knowledgeable and we are so Happy to see Amber the bartender back! We are Dimond for life and we were sad when we heard she left. And are so happy she is back we will make sure to return especially for her service. Best experience Ever.

Pros: -the views here are pretty incredible -the patrons, music, and vibe here are relaxed and fun -the “Ginger vs Marianne” drink was a really tasty twist on a Moscow mule Cons: -this bar is very small and gets very awkward to move around or even find a place to stand, let alone sit down -20+ minute wait to receive drinks AFTER waiting 15 minutes to order them -we were told they would only accept cash -the bartender was shockingly rude to people who were politely asking questions or trying to pay their bills -two of our four drinks were really bad: the old fashioned tasted awful and the Long Island ice tea was half empty when we got it (see photo) -when I asked the bartender to confirm these were the correct drinks that we had ordered, he snapped AGGRESSIVELY at me and told me to take it or leave it I have patience for long waits and minor inconveniences when people are trying to do their job and are just overwhelmed. I get it. But the service here was completely inexcusable and is the number one reason why you should NOT waste your time at this bar.

Nice views and atmosphere. I really enjoyed the music and space. Only downside is it was understaffed. Even though it is a small bar, there needs to be at least two people servicing the bar and tables. There was only one bartender and no servers. I had to go up to the bar to get a drink. No one ever checked on us or asked if we wanted another round. When I am spending $15+ a drink, I expect good service. We left after one drink, but would have stayed longer if the service was better.

I’m a sucker for a roof top bar — I wish Omaha had more. The view is nice and the staff are decent. Not a great space for large groups, limited seating. The drinks are so-so, pretty sweet, not very boozy, but very expensive. Mojito was 18$….. you’re paying for a view I guess? But if you’re seated at the bar, your back is to said “view”. Honestly I probably won’t go back, I’d recommend just going somewhere that has better drinks, outdoor, street level seating - Omaha has plenty of other establishments that meet that criteria.

Bartenders were not helpful—didn’t inform us of menu changes, didn’t want to get Bloody Mary mix, instead claimed they were out. Great views!!

I visited the Takeoff last night for an event. We had excellent weather and a spectacular view of the city. The staff is incredible, had a chance to talk to the bartender and one of the managers. Overall this would be a great place to meet a small group or go on a late night date for a drink. I will definitely be returning again.

The trail around Flanagan lake is very windy and cold. Be ready to wear layers. There are barely any trees, and not enough shade in summer. I like that there is a bridge, and I can walk for 2.5 miles instead of 5.5 miles. There is currently ongoing construction in many areas around the lake and by the trail. The trail is 5.5 miles long. Edit: the bathrooms are currently open. Neat and clean on 168 and Fort Street parking:)

I really enjoy riding my bike around the lake. The interesting sculptures, make itna fun ride.

Such a great place! With walking/biking trails, kayak and paddleboarding rentals. Also has a public restroom, picnic tables and great spots for photos. Clean lake with docking and boat launch spots plus good fishing off the banks.

A great place to walk or bike. The sunsets are great. There is a wonderful park area as well. Always an enjoyable time. Haven't been on the water yet but planning on getting the kayak out in the spring.

Nice big lake. New trees planted. Will take some years for them to provide shade, but will be really nice once they do. Long nice path around the lake. Lots of random seating albeit a bit odd seating at times. Playground. Overhead shade in a couple spots.

Flanagan Lake is situated between Fort Street, Ida Street, and State Street. This is the largest man made lake in the Omaha/Bennington Nebraska area with a hiking/biking trail of approximately 5.2 miles. There are bathrooms spots in certain areas (close to the public picnic areas). At the apex of the trail, the hiker will be met with water on either side where the sunset is very soothing at an evening hour. Canoes and boats are welcome for a relaxing time on the water. Nice spots to cast lines into the water for fishing.

Fairly new flood control reservoir. Nice path for biking, walking, and running. Once they have the dirt path from the West Papio Trail at Fort Street, up to the dam path, it will be a much safer route in all weather. Fishing is ok, and the sculptures and benches are interesting.

Great view, and two locomotives to view up close! No cost. There are >60 stairs to walk up to get to the trains. There is a handicap ramp available. They do close the gates at 5pm and you’ll be able to drive out, but not back in.

This is a great place to learn a bit about American history, specifically the railroad and Union Pacific. The place is in the heart of Omaha and has a fantastic view. The only downside is how loud this park is since its closed proximity to the highway, but a great place to visit nonetheless. Just a good heads up: the locomotives are massive.

What a cool hidden find. You’ll have to travel a stair way up that overlooks the highway to enjoy the majestic trains. This IS American history as these trains served our nation for many years in our heyday. Kids will love this area. Be sure to read the educational station signs to learn more about how these trains shaped our nation. The overlook view of the highway is worth the stair climb.

Really cool place to see a well mantaind Big Boy up close and personal. The Centinial was also super cool to see. The park is also very nice and the view is terrific! I love seeing companies like this take pride in there history and make it accesible to the public for free. I would totally make the 3.5 hr trip from where I live just to see this.

What an awesome FREE stop to make when you’re visiting the area. We just had the only working Big Boy Engine drive by our city a few weeks ago so our kids thought it was super cool to see it up close! If you or your kids love train stop and see it! The wheel sculpture they have is very hard to see since it’s covered in grasses…. I wish we could have seen it.

Great for any railroad enthusiast and for some open air. Free to see and get up close with. If you are visiting Omaha I highly recommend a visit, simply to see the huge piece of engineering history. The walk up provides some good views and plenty of history to look at. You can walk round the entire Big Boy steam locomotive to get a real view of the size. Although you can not climb on, there is a raised walkway which allows you to look into the footplate cabin.

Be ready to get your steps in. Big walk to the top, but a great view of the Missouri River. Great history and awesome to get up close to these locomotives.

Really lovely campus. Nice to see police cruisers, campus felt very safe and the police are so helpful. Credit to the admin for making safe areas for walking. The kids got a sticker from a female police officer

I only stopped there to park while I returned a phone call. I went to the college years ago, before going on to University. The campus is always beautifully kept and the buildings buildings, old and new, well maintained.

A piece of Omaha history here. Well maintained grounds and buildings. I first went to Fort Omaha 64 years ago. Oops, telling my age here. Back then there were military personnel at the main gate. We used to stand outside on the sidewalk and watch them practice their marching, their drills, or doing their exercises. Today Metropolitan Community College has a campus there. It is a very good community college. The fort now also holds many other activities that welcome the public, like Pow Wows.

They take very good care of their buildings everything is always very clean and update one of the top colleges in Nebraska and my opinion

This church is a great asset to the community hosting all kinds of community events, food pantry, addiction support meetings, and scouts to name a few. Love this place.

They have a small public pantry that is so wonderful. It helps so many people in need. No questions asked, no ID required. Just good christain people doing Gods work.

First Presbyterian has a weekly choice pantry on Thursdays from 3:30-5:15pm that my dog & I attend when needed. Pantry access is behind the building where you can take steps or an elevator down to the basement level. Volunteer staff will quickly check you in & then a shopper will walk through with you. You'll get to choose some staples first from the canned veggies, fruit, peanut butter, canned beans, & meat. Then you'll get a pasta or grains or dried beans choice, nuts or a snack of some type, & a breakfast item such as box of cereal, oatmeal, or pancake mix. After that, you'll be offered meat & sometimes other perishable items like cheese, butter, or eggs. Then there are usually miscellaneous items/drinks, a bread choice (typically Rotella's), & you'll leave with a box of USDA produce. This is a great pantry to attend for the basics & to get real protein. Volunteers are very nice, I would use the word "fun" actually. You won't be made to feel ashamed & you'll leave with items that will help you stay nourished. You can go each week the pantry is open as you need to.

Here in 1846 an oppressed people fleeing from a vengeful mob found a haven in the wilderness. Winter Quarters, established under the direction of the Mormon leader Brigham Young, sheltered more than 3,000 people during the winter of 1846-1847. Housed in log cabins, sod houses and dugouts, they lacked adequate provisions. When spring arrived more than six hundred of the faithful lay buried in the cemetery on the hill. Winter Quarters became the administration center of a great religious movement.

The missionaries were informative and it was an uplifting experience

I'm giving a rate of two stars. Reason being is that the Florence community is where I grew up and currently still reside. This park is so out of date compared to the rest of the parks around Omaha. Like come on Omaha... We are not a small town and as time as gone from my childhood up until now the population of children has risen. I firmly think this park needs a revamp and to be updated entirely.
