Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is a true gem nestled in the heart of Nebraska, sprawling across 130 acres of beautifully designed habitats. This remarkable zoo features the largest indoor desert and rainforest in North America, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in diverse ecosystems filled with exotic wildlife.
This zoo is huge, but so worth going. Probably need 2 days to really go through the entire zoo. I would love to go again. My son loves Elephants and this was his first time seeing them, so precious. Great memories for him and his sister loves Giraffes. The African Safari area is massive. The animals have so much space to roam freely and they look like they are well taken care of! The Jungle area is so pretty inside. The Aquarium was amazing! Great place to hang out in on a hot day in August. The gorillas were a blast to see, their enclosure was amazing. Food in the safari area was expensive for what you get as is all the drinks/snacks you can buy there. I would definitely recommend this zoo and go early when they open. Definitely try not to go when it’s super hot, you’ll be doing lots of walking to see everything. They have a train to ride, a sky lift and a track like ride through the park also. It costs $1.25 per stop.

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is truly one of the best zoos I’ve ever visited! The aquarium was my absolute favorite — beautifully designed and so fun to explore. We also enjoyed the Skyfari ride, the train, and the carousel (we got the ticket with the ride pass, which was worth it). It’s also nice that you can bring your own iced coffee or drinks, though there are certain areas where food and beverages aren’t allowed. Watching the gorillas laze around and nap was hilarious, and the seal exhibit was another highlight — we could’ve stayed there for hours. The Zoo Passport was a fun little activity that added to the experience. The zoo itself is huge, so plan ahead and wear comfy shoes. There’s lots of parking and plenty of food options. Overall, such an amazing experience — definitely a 5/5!

I visited in October 2025, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The zoo grounds were beautifully maintained, with vibrant fall foliage that made just walking through the park a pleasure. Everything was spotless — it’s clear the staff takes great pride in the upkeep. The IMAX movies were a pleasant surprise — we saw features on oceans and elephants, and both were informative and visually stunning. Definitely worth the time! Among the highlights were the butterfly pavilion, which was peaceful and magical, and the aquarium, which was absolutely fantastic. Every animal we saw looked healthy and well cared for. The giraffe exhibit is open and scenic, and the elephant enclosure is especially impressive — massive, naturalistic, and clearly designed with the animals’ wellbeing in mind. It was great to see them playing and swimming freely. We also loved watching the sea otters, penguins, and big cats — all active and entertaining. For lunch, we stopped at the Aquarium Café, and the food was much better than I expected from a zoo café. The salad was crisp and fresh, and the chicken pasta was hot, flavorful, and satisfying. This was truly a day to remember. I highly recommend visiting — just be sure to plan for the whole day, because there’s so much to see and do. It’s one of the best zoos I’ve ever experienced.

I have been here a couple of times. Visiting this famous zoo is always a great experience. Here's my review: I went here on a Saturday, arrived around 11:00, and there was plenty of parking. I recommend getting tickets online since arriving at the entrance, there are long lines for getting tickets physically, but going into the zoo took less than 2 minutes. You can also bring some snacks and your water bottle so you don't have to buy the more expensive food or drinks. From there we just enjoyed the zoo and took a lot of pics. And just seeing these animals up close is just awesome. Hope some of you guys find this helpful see ya👋
Fernando R — Google review
Awesome Zoo! Great exhibits and variety of animals. Reasonable priced entry and they encourage bringing your own water bottle to refill. My only advise is get there early and do the desert done and aquarium as some of your first stops as they can get a little crowded
Ana B — Google review
I understand why this zoo is rated #1!my first impression is the rainforest with the monkeys. Man that was such a delight to see. I walked around so much my feet were on fire😊I took a little break by getting on the sky lift ($7 rt) and saw an over view of all the animals. There were so many highlights to this zoo I would highly recommend to everyone! Money well spent!!!
T D — Google review
Fantastic zoo! It was pricey for a zoo, bit it was 100% worth it! I grimaced as I paid the kiosk extra bucks for "all rides" without even knowing what they were. So it for me unlimited tram rides, unlimited locomotive rides, unlimited skyline rides, and I think the carousel too. All of the rides I went on were fantastic for a zoo! Really helped rest my feet so I could see more exhibits. I don't have a bad thing to say about any of the exhibits. Truly one of the nation's best zoos!
Lol P — Google review
Incredible zoo. This comes as no surprise, but it has all one would want and more, from my perspective. On the scorcher of a day we visited, I appreciated that they have misting stands in various locations around the zoo as well as signs that display the signs of heat exhaustion. We went throughout the outdoor portion for as much as we could handle in the heat and we loved all of the animals there were to see. Some old favorites like elephants and giraffes along with a few animals I was not previously familiar with. Loved the butterfly atrium and I'm always a fan of an aquarium. There seemed to be lots of places within the zoo to grab food and drinks as well. Also be sure to stop by their great gift shop. We had a blast!

Desert Dome is an indoor zoo with plants and animals from three different continents. The Desert Dome is the world's largest indoor desert and it is located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Loved it so much! It’s so unique and interesting! Absolutely must see in NE
Alisa S — Google review
This dome is pretty amazing! The desert(s) inside have wildlife displayed with information about the animals that the kids found interesting. It's a dry heat and very tolerable unlike the "real" desert-- very cool to see inside the dome, and one of the most visible things in the zoo from outside. I believe it is voted the #1 exhibit so if you are visiting the Henry Dorley Zoo, this is a must-see!
Sarah W — Google review
This is a crazy and amazing exhibit of Deserts around the world. It felt so real. The animals were so close it was amazing. Definitely check out the basement Night Eyes exhibit as well! Tons of Nocturnal creatures! It was one of the highlights of my trip with the kids.
Jrod K — Google review
The Kingdoms of the Night exhibit is fantastic. The lights are on if you visit during the Halloween Spooktactular festivities. They are giving the nocturnal animals the impression that it is daytime.
Natalie S — Google review
This attraction is awesome. The Kingdoms of the Night is probably my favorite area in the zoo. It is below the Desert Dome and it is very dark. There is an area in the caves that there are open pools of water. There is glass below the surface but it is a drop off. Walking the swamp reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. You enter the swamp through a small cabin. Photography is very difficult but the detail is amazing.
Raymond P — Google review
So much variety of animals. The dome is a must. It takes some time but it is very interesting.
Bojana B — Google review
Maybe my personal favorite of all the exhibits/areas of the zoo. The nocturnal basement area is fascinating!
Patrick C — Google review
This was an incredible experience. We undermined its capacity by looking at what’s on the surface. At the end of the tour, you have the option to descend below into the caves they built under the dome to explore varies nocturnal creatures and eco systems. This was definitely a must see place if you’re into wild life/ zoology.

Lied Jungle is a captivating indoor exhibit that replicates the lush environment of remote jungles from around the world. It boasts an expansive layout with separate enclosures showcasing various animal species, creating an immersive jungle experience. As you step inside, you'll immediately sense the humidity and vibrant atmosphere of a rainforest, complete with waterfalls, greenery, and diverse wildlife like monkeys, tapirs, birds, reptiles, and more.
Lied Jungle at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is a must-visit for nature lovers. The immersive rainforest setting, complete with waterfalls, exotic plants, and free-roaming animals like monkeys and birds, makes it feel like stepping into the wild. The warm, humid environment adds to the authenticity. A fantastic experience!
Divya G — Google review
So beautiful!! This is my son’s favorite stop at the zoo. We walked the upper and lower parts on our visit. Elevators help make it accessible for wagons or strollers. Very well done. The animals are so neat to see. The bridge to walk across. The waterfalls. The bats. Makes you feel like you are really in a rainforest.
Jill H — Google review
The Jungle Biome was stunning. It feels so spacious inside even with the incredible amount of foliage surrounding you!. There are birds and bats that are just open air fliers. So many species of animals inside there. It definitely has a jungle feel! There is an upper "canopy" level and a lower jungle floor level. I highly suggest this exhibit!
Jrod K — Google review
New Years Eve day trip. Take the whole family! Such fun for all of us! They decorate and have things for the kids. Even when bitterly cold, you can do a full day inside all the buildings. Be a kid again...
Farsideacres — Google review
Lied Jungle is awesome. There is so much vegetation and water everywhere. There are small passages leading to viewing areas. Sadly the lower trail was closed. We were there on a Monday in September and there were very few people. It was like we had the place to ourselves. As with all the areas in the zoo it was clean and well maintained.
Raymond P — Google review
They have done many updates and added to the Lied Jungle since last visit. There is so much to learn as they lead you through the different rainforests of the world. The observation "caves" they made are super fun-- the monkeys climb right up where you can see them! It's a muggy space (it's rainforest after all!) so be prepared. The upper level is easy walking on wide paths even through caves, the bottom level is dirt path. This is another exhibit inside Henry Dorley Zoo that we recommend, We had a great time!
Sarah W — Google review
We visited this at the last few minutes and was rushed out by the staff. However, the path that lies on the ground floor across the jungle was closed off since the beginning of the pandemic. We were shocked by how big this place was. It is definitely a must see places.
Shehan F — Google review
Lied Jungle is amazing!! Its like walking into a living jungle. You walk through a cave and while your walking you can look down and see all kinds of animals. There are birds and bats flying around, monkeys hanging out in the trees. Fish and turtles in the water. And if you look at the cubbies in the walls there are snakes and spiders all kinds of things. It was soo cool! I did not know that Lied Jungle was part of the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. When looking up attractions in the area it just popped up Lied Jungle. So when we found out it was an entire zoo I wished we had more time to spend there. Lied jungle is like nothing else I've ever seen. We loved it! A must do for sure.

Movie theater
The Lozier Giant Screen Theater, nestled within the Omaha Zoo, offers an extraordinary cinematic experience with its impressive 40 by 75-foot screen. This venue specializes in showcasing both 2D and 3D films, many of which highlight the wonders of wildlife. If you're a fan of immersive IMAX-style movies, this is a must-visit during your trip to Henry Doorly Zoo.
This is a wonderful theater to visit ..the sound and the clarity is on point snacks are great and you get a discount on food if your a member I highly recommend seeing a movie here
Big A — Google review
Great fun. Took my kids to watch the 3D film about nature in the backyard through the seasons. Excellent for family enjoyment. Kids loved it, and I had a good time, too. Fun to see close-ups of woodland wildlife and watch the detail of their antics.
S M — Google review
This sunmer I've been taking my nephews every other weekend. We love the zoo here! There's never a dull moment. The food is a bit pricey but we can bring a backpack of snacks and I've seen others with a cooler. We love animals and the zoo is huge. Lot's to do.
R. G — Google review
As a zoo member and patron, I do wish new films would show more often, but the theater itself is very nice and always clean. Love that unlimited shows are included with membership! 3D shows are neat, but I always appreciate 2D for my 2yr old child to easily enjoy.
Casey G — Google review
Outstanding! If you haven't been there you need to. I went and seen a 3D movie and the sound system and the video was just fantastic. The seats are very plush and comfortable with drink holders. The facility is a must-
Paul G — Google review
We went to the zoo on May 14, 2016. What a disappointment!!!!! I grew up in Omaha and have always thought we had the most amazing and fun zoo around. This time there was construction EVERYWHERE. We wasted $30 on a train ride, and only saw the 2 oxen, prairie dogs, flamingos and some rare pelican. Really? The train used to be an awesome experience. Now all you see is construction. I understand renovations. New exhibits draws people in. I don't understand renovating all over and having multiple projects going all at once. Why can't one project be finished before another is started? I am glad we had been given a pass to get in, otherwise I would be completely pissed considering how much it costs to get in. Why can't a discounted rate be offered while so much construction is going on? If I had traveled far to come see the zoo I would be asking for a complete refund. Not to mention they are putting so much effort into new exhibits they have seemed to forget to maintain older ones. The lied jungle needed it's glass cleaned. We kept having to lift the kids because the lower glass was too filthy to see out of. Aquarium glass in the jungle and other parts of the zoo was completely hard water stained or algae filled. Floor lighting in the Kingdom of the Night (which used to be a favorite of mine) was non-existent. I understand the minimal lighting down there, however at least when it first opened you could see the animals in a darkened environment, and knew where the path was. You can't even see the people in front of you anymore. Certain parts of paths all over the zoo presented trip hazards and were not marked. Many paths were way too narrow for the amount of traffic flow, especially when you add strollers or wagons. It's impossible to pass in many areas of the jungle and desert dome. I am sad to say that I have no desire to visit the zoo for an extremely long time. I will not recommend visiting the zoo to anyone until construction is minimal, and the cost equals the experience.
Leslie K — Google review
Free Imax with membership is awesome. Last show we saw about backyard nature in 3D was one of the best we have seen. Zoo treats are always expensive, but overall great addition to zoo experience, especially if you go on down hours like early in morning on a weekday when no one is there!
Jared A — Google review
We love watching movies there and have seen more than I could count! The new 3D glasses are great and the 3D ocean movie was SPECTACULAR! It didn't feel like your typical slightly fuzzy 3D, but it was crystal clear and felt insanely real.

Zoo
Mahoney is a popular zoo with many animals from all over the world. The Kingdoms of the Night exhibit is especially interesting because it displays animals that are nocturnal, or active during the night. This exhibit is great for kids who want to learn more about animals that live differently from them.
Within Omaha's Henry Dorley Zoo, in the base of the desert dome is this kingdom of the night. It is dark (and smelly near the bat cave) but it's cool. Many of the photos are hard to see, so you'll have to go for yourself. Many cool animals-- and tons to learn about them including bats and gators/crocodiles. This last potion is a path of wooden dock-like structures over a water full of large gators, turtles, beavers and the like. Again, all dark but def worth the time.
Sarah W — Google review
As an excited dad, I cannot express enough how amazing the Henry Doorly Zoo is! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a beautiful view of the Lied Jungle, which immediately set the tone for the rest of our visit. The zoo is huge, and we could see that there were so many animals to see and things to do. We started off by exploring the Desert Dome, which was absolutely breathtaking. The way they have recreated the different desert environments and the animals that live in them is just incredible. We saw everything from meerkats to snakes to camels, and my kids were fascinated by it all. Next, we headed over to the African Grasslands, where we got to see some of the most majestic animals on earth, including lions, zebras, and giraffes. The highlight of this section was definitely the elephant exhibit, which was truly impressive. We even got to see the elephants up close and personal during a feeding session! But the fun didn't stop there. We also visited the Kingdoms of the Night exhibit, which features all sorts of nocturnal animals, and the Scott Aquarium, where we saw some of the most beautiful fish and marine life. My kids were particularly excited about the touch tank, where they got to touch and interact with some of the creatures. Overall, the Henry Doorly Zoo is an incredible place to visit with your family. There's something for everyone, and the attention to detail and care for the animals is truly remarkable. We had an amazing time and cannot wait to go back!
Rick W — Google review
In SPECIFICALLY the dark cave section with all the bats flying around: the bats were constantly freaking out, children were SCREAMING, and some grown man was CLAPPING as loud as he could to scare the bats. PLEASE add a sign or some other measure saying to be quiet. Horribly upsetting experience for me and my family, and we hated how these animals are being treated.

The Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium is a great place to see a variety of marine life, including beautiful coral exhibits. It's also large enough for adults and children to enjoy at the same time. While two-year-old son enjoyed looking at the fish, he was less thrilled by the cold water.
The Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is a breathtaking underwater experience. From vibrant coral reefs to the mesmerizing shark tunnel, it offers stunning views of marine life. The diverse exhibits, including jellyfish and sea turtles, make it both educational and immersive. A must-visit for ocean lovers! Excellent collection of water creatures.
Divya G — Google review
So much fun!!! The zoo here was giant and had animals of every category! From lions, snow leopards, cheetahs, and tigers, to elephants, zebras, monkeys, plus so many aquatic creatures like turtles, dolphins, puffins, and even sharks, there's so much to see here! 😍 My husband and I walked pretty quickly for the majority of it and made the whole thing in about 3 hours, but you could take your time and probably have at least a 4 hour trip.
Kiera H — Google review
Not the biggest aquarium, but we'll maintained and lots to see. Jellyfish exhibit was awesome. Walk-thru ocean tunnel was great. If you're already at the Zoo, then this is an obvious addition to your trip.
A H — Google review
The Aquarium is amazing -- not only can you pet jellyfish, watch penguins play and swim, learn all kinds of facts about underwater creatures, but you walk through a tunnel underwater while stingrays, fish, sharks and turtles swim above. The jellyfish are wonderful 😍 located inside the Omaha Henry Dorley Zoo, we never miss this exhibit!
Sarah W — Google review
The Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is the largest aquarium located within a zoo in the United States. First opened in 1995 and renovated in stages—most recently completing a major update in May 2020—the aquarium showcases a dazzling range of aquatic environments, from polar regions and Amazonian habitats to vibrant coral reefs and temperate oceans. The centerpiece is a massive 450,000‑gallon shark tank with a 70‑foot underwater tunnel, where visitors can walk beneath sharks, rays, and sea turtles. The exterior underwent a striking redesign, featuring a wave‑like stainless steel canopy, coral‑inspired metal panels, and eight rooftop steel wave sculptures enhanced by dynamic, color‑changing lighting that transforms the facade into an immersive, ocean‑themed spectacle after dark. Inside, the aquarium delights with displays of penguins, jellyfish, octopus, seahorses, and interactive touch tanks—offering guests an educational and awe‑inspiring dive into the wonders of marine life.
Paulus K — Google review
Considered as a smaller size of the aquarium. They managed it well. Restrooms were clean. Walk way we’re well lit. The jellyfish section was mesmerizing. The penguins were very happy and active. I wish the tunnel section would have moving floor so people don’t just stay at one spot and clogging up the pathway. Kids would love this section the most of the zoo.
Wind N — Google review
I can see why this is voted one of the best zoos and aquariums. This is such a lovely place to visit! They have so many animals and so many different exhibits. All of which looked clean and all of the animals looked healthy. The aquarium is a really beautiful place and there are so many different side exhibits within. The staff is also really helpful there and knowledgeable! Go check them out!
Glen M — Google review
I photographed a Memorial Weekend wedding at the Walter Scott Aquarium. It was such a unique experience to enjoy the Zoo for a wedding. It was very crowded and hard to find parking but once the evening started and the aquarium was open for cocktail hour it was such a lovely experience for all the guests!

They have Gluten free options! Was super happy about this. Had the Cheeseburger with gf bun and fries. I'm not Celiac, just gluten sensitive. No issues.

Normally we make our trek from Lincoln during off season and bring our own lunches. This time we decided to bite the bullet and eat on site. We scoped out several spots, I figured we'd end up at the aquarium eatery. To our surprise the TreeTops Restaurant was open on a Monday and was what everyone agreed on. The majority of items were $5-$7 apiece. Potato salad was $4. Chips were $2+. Kids liked the chicken strips and cheeseburger. Adult kids and my husband got a ton of hot dogs which they said were fine. Mac & cheese was that weird gas station gummy kind. Onion Rings were really good. Nobody liked the fries. All of the "fresh" sides... Potato salad, cheese & grapes, and desserts were all very good. The set up is kind of a cluster "mistake". No one was in any kind of hurry to help anyone else. Between 4 adults and 2 kids we spent over a hundred bucks. Not entirely surprised, I get it. * Not pictured is my son & his wife's burger, 3 dogs, salad, fries, chips, drink*

This was pretty much what we expected for a lunch at the zoo. Typical options like cheeseburger, hot dog, etc. We enjoyed the fries a lot but the hot dog wasn’t great. We came here mainly because of how it overlooks the monkeys. To our disappointment the monkeys weren’t even in the enclosure right by the restaurant so you couldn’t even see anything.
Kiira P — Google review
I went here with my daughters to eat lunch on 1/28. I am not sure who the lady was working the register that day, but I didn’t like her attitude. She was very sarcastic and rude. I asked simple questions and she would answer very sarcastically like I should’ve known the answer.. will most likely not dine in there again. There was a gentleman working that day, he was very helpful and nice.
Talia H — Google review
Ordered a double cheeseburger but got no cheese. Plus they followed the Omaha tradition from the great exposition by charging for a cup of water. Might have bought a deli wrap but it was unlabeled. Next time I'll plan ahead and bring food with me.
Jeff M — Google review
I came here with my nephew today, and the prices were on the high end a cup of fruit for almost 7 dollars??? The gardien sandwhich and fries also had no flavor, and for the food to come to be almost 30 dollars, i would expect better for the zoo. The only nice associate was the girl taking orders . Women who checked me out were rude, and standoff ish wanted to pay before and I was going to tell her my order, and she said i had to wait till the food came out.. overall the view was beautiful but food is just not worth the prices wished they would offer combo meals considering they charge everything individually
Melissa C — Google review
None of these reviews should be over 1 star at all. This place was absolutely terrible overpriced and disgusting. You could tell these burgers were store bought and just way too fake and fries as well. The drinks were OK. But omg no free refills of course. They didn't get our orders right at all. I would give this 1 definitely a 0 star. Should be shut down. I would NOT recommend anything on here. Made my 11 year old throw up
Guera L — Google review
I feel pity for anyone who has ever ate here in the past or will eat here in the future. If I could give this a lower star I would. The prices would be fine if the food was at least Edible, sadly it was not. The sandwiches were nothing but lukewarm mush sqeezed in between stale bread. The fries were cold, soggy and bland. The service was dismal at best with the staff not even knowing knowing how the items were cooked, how does that even work?! How do you not know how something is cooked in a kitchen that you work in? I had to ask 3 times how my gardein chikn was cooked, the first two times the rude lady at the front counter told me she didn't know, with a huge nasty attitude. Most of the rest of the staff seemed tortured to even be working there. The only staff member that was nice, was the older man that helped us in the seating area, I wish I would have gotten this gentleman's name, he was such a pleasure.

The Elephant Family Quarters is a fantastic facility dedicated to the care and well-being of elephants. Visitors can engage with knowledgeable staff who are eager to share insights about these magnificent creatures. A highlight of my visit was catching a glimpse of an adorable newborn elephant, just four weeks old! The quarters are not only clean but also designed to ensure the elephants' happiness and health. This educational exhibit truly showcases why it’s considered one of the top attractions in Omaha.
A really great educational exhibit. I can see why this is voted one of the best zoos and aquariums. This is such a lovely place to visit! They have so many animals and so many different exhibits. All of which looked clean and all of the animals looked healthy. They have some information about the new baby elephants as well!
Glen M — Google review
Really neat facility for the elephants. There was a few people working inside who were willing to answer any questions I had about the elephants inside. I was able to see through the back of the facility of one of the newborn baby elephants that was born 4 weeks ago and was so cute. The elephants looked happy and well taken care of.

LOVE having elephants in Omaha again! Kudos to the Henry Doorly Zoo and all of those involved for their efforts and hard work for saving the lives of these elephants and getting them back to Omaha. The family quarters are wonderful, and the outdoor space is even better.

Elephants were all inside. The place was clean and looked suitable for the animals. It was fun to go in and watch them do their thing for a little bit. If it's cooler out, it's a good place to go to warm up.

The zoo has a large, air conditioned exhibit for primates called the "Hubbard Gorilla Valley". The exhibit is well kept and includes a variety of viewing windows and pathways to get up close to the gorillas. In addition to apes, the zoo also has other animal exhibits including lions, tigers, and a small elephant exhibit.
Hubbard Gorilla Valley at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is an immersive experience that brings visitors face-to-face with powerful gorillas. The spacious, naturalistic habitat allows them to climb, play, and interact. Glass viewing areas provide incredible close-ups, making it both educational and thrilling. A must-visit for primate lovers! The gorillas keep you engaged.
Divya G — Google review
The gorilla exhibit was amazing. It was the winter season so they're mostly inside. But the outdoor enclosures are quite expansive and fantastic. The gorillas were easy to see and recognize even though some of them seemed quite bored haha.
Jrod K — Google review
Hubbard Gorilla Valley is an excellent attraction. The building is air-conditioned and very cool. It is a nice escape from the heat outside. The walkways are wide and clean. There are lots of viewing windows and you can get up close to the gorillas. Throughout the entire zoo there are clean restrooms and water fountains which include a bottle filling station. The restrooms also had sunscreen dispenser in the restrooms.
Raymond P — Google review
Really up close gorilla viewing. They interact some with the visitors. The shear size of them is impressive and a little unsettling considering how close you get. Worth the visit if in Omaha.

It is cool. The gorillas and apes are fun to watch. There are not only gorillas, though. There are also other forest animals like red river hogs, duiker, different species of birds, tree shrews and more. It is amazing!

Owen Sea Lion Shores is the latest addition to the Omaha Zoo, having just opened its doors a couple of weeks ago. This 1.5-acre exhibit replaces what was once known as Durham's Bear Canyon and now serves as a vibrant home for California sea lions. While it may be smaller than expected, the design captures the essence of the Pacific Northwest beautifully, featuring educational displays that delve into sea lion behavior, water conservation efforts in Nebraska, and environmental issues affecting marine ecosystems.
As with all the areas of the zoo this is very nice. The walkways are wide and well maintained. The landscaping is amazing with tons of detail. The seals this day were a bit shy. There are numerous above and below the water viewing areas.
Raymond P — Google review
The sea lions and seals were super active and awesome to watch. They glide so effortlessly through the water. The trail around is fantastic with so many different viewing areas. Would recommend hitting this one on a warm day!

The zoo itself is fantastic, but in my opinion there seal program is hands down the worst I've seen. They really need to put some money into this even if it means raising the entrance fee a couple dollars. They need to take a look at the St. Louis zoo and see how they do there seal/sea-lion show. It's an actual show and there are set times for it. I went to the zoo another two times while I was in St. Louis for business just to see the show. One in Omaha there is absolutely nothing there to see at all. Sorry to ramble on, but it's truly a shame.

Skyfari at the Omaha Zoo offers a unique and enjoyable way to experience the zoo from above. For a fee, visitors can take a ride that provides stunning aerial views of the entire complex, including close-up sightings of giraffes, rhinos, and other animals. Many visitors find it to be well worth the cost for this one-of-a-kind experience. It's considered a great family activity and is often described as a fantastic and enlightening way to explore the zoo.
Great way to travel across the zoo! Wonderful views of the entire complex!

Wonderful views of the zoo from above. The rhinos and giraffes and the lions. You go over the pond as well. It’s a round trip. A place to leave your belongings in the shade. Ticket booth right there to purchase your tickets for it. I think the upper level passes that include the rides is worth the extra expense. The rides are free if you have a patron pass. Easy for little kids to ride as well. Just hang on tight to them and make sure they’re staying still. Wouldn’t want to mess around on it.

Stingray Beach in Omaha, a unique tourist attraction in the Midwest, offers visitors the opportunity to interact with stingrays. The facility is spacious and accommodating, with helpful guides available. The pool's depth is suitable for children, and the stingrays are accustomed to human presence, allowing visitors to both pet and feed them for an additional charge. Touching these creatures provides an incredible sensation that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The Stingray Beach was one of my favorite exhibits at the Omaha Zoo. Really enjoyed being able to get up close to the stingrays. It costs $5 to do this or $4 for zoo members. You can also pay $1.50 to feed them. This is a must see if you have the time while you're here.

Stingray Beach at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is an interactive and exciting experience for visitors of all ages. Touching and feeding the gentle stingrays in the shallow pool is both thrilling and educational. The staff provides great insights about these fascinating creatures, making it a memorable and fun visit! It’s a paid attraction inside the zoo. It’s $4 for members and $5 for non members. If you want to buy food it’s $1.5 extra. It’s worth to spend.
Divya G — Google review
This is a really cool place. Where else can you pet a stingray in Omaha or the Midwest at that. The facility is large and there is plenty of room for everyone. There are plenty of guides to help you and they are always helpful. The pool is the perfect height for my son as well. The stingrays come right up to you and you can feed them fish for a small upcharge. If you don't want to feed them, you can still pet them as they are very acclimated to people. Once you get to touch one its an amazing feeling. Its really a special activity for the whole family. If you haven't done it yet, I highly recommend it!.
Ed C — Google review

Christina G — Google review
This is worth the extra few bucks. The Stingrays LOVE to be touched. Such a great experience for everyone!
Bj W — Google review
It was cool to touch the sting rays, but I think charging each person an additional $4 is unnecessary. For a family of 5 that was another $20. Quick experience. Kids enjoyed. Glad we did it once, but wouldn’t again.
A. J — Google review
Nice place for kids! It's inside a tent, and has the touch pool in the middle. There's a place to wash your hands as you enter and exit. They have a piece of fish that you can purchase and feed to a stingray. You only get one for $1.50, but I'd recommend it for the experience. It doesn't hurt, it just feels weird. They also have a few shelves of stuffed animals that you can buy right there, but there's also some at the main and aquarium gift shops. And lastly, the stingrays (obviously) don't sting. Make sure to visit while you're there!
