Art museum
Museums
Perched on a hilltop, MOA Museum of Art offers a captivating experience with its collection of over 3,500 East Asian art pieces, including national treasures and significant cultural assets. The museum boasts stunning panoramic views of Atami and the sea from its main lobby and MOA Plaza. Visitors can also unwind in the tranquil Ippakuan Tearoom while savoring Japanese confections and matcha tea amidst the beauty of a traditional Japanese garden.
MOA Art Museum 8.5/10 1) Access from Tokyo Take the Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Atami Station and get off at Atami Station, about 40 minutes. From Atami Station, get off at the last stop of the bus bound for MOA Museum of Art building, and it takes about 10 minutes. 2) Cost 9,000 yen for transportation, 2,000 yen for admission fee 3) Review The museum is located on a hill in Atami. The founder, Mokichi Okada, was a religious man, but he originally wanted to pursue a career in art and has a deep knowledge of it. After taking a bus to the top of the hill, visitors can take an escalator up to the top of the hill, where they are surprised to find that the facility is much larger than they expected and imagined. Although it is an art museum, it also has a Noh theater within the facility, where Noh performances are held. In front of the Noh theater, there is a video showing the secrets of the Noh theater, which is very interesting. The golden tea room where Toyotomi Hideyoshi entertained the emperor of the time has been recreated, and a calligraphy by Toyotomi Hideyori gives visitors a sense of history. In addition, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Sagami Bay and be dazzled by the beauty of Atami. There are too many spots to enjoy before entering the exhibition rooms! The July 25 exhibition is an exhibition of works by Japanese living national treasures. The transparency of the glass in the exhibition room is so amazing that you cannot tell that there is glass between you and the exhibits at all, allowing you to concentrate on the artwork. A wonderful project and environment that shows the excellence of the works of the living national treasures. The facility has French, Japanese, Soba, and coffee shops to satisfy your lunch needs.

Small museum on top of a hill. The museum has 3 floors and you an get here by bus. There's a bunch of escalators to the top. We had a rental car so we parked on the 3rd floor. Also saw a bunch of taxis. So I would advies to take one of those options and don't try to walk. The museum itself is nice. There are a lot of woodblockprints and a golden tea room. The garden outside had nice views if the bay below. They also have a small bamboo grove and a few old tea house that were eithere rebuilt or relocated to this area.
Matthijs — Google review
The view from the museum is beautiful🥰 Thankfully the coin lockers here are free of charge, meaning I can enjoy the space without my bags. The exhibition I went to was super interesting, scrolls about a fantastical tragic love story from ancient times. The glass was so clear that I sometimes forget about it, and when you take pictures there's no reflection. The outside Japanese garden is also fun to walk around. Would spend about 2-3 hours here, if you don't sit down and eat.
許有宜 — Google review
Please remember that most of the art here is Japanese art, not Contemporary art. The building is amazing and the escalator ride is a piece of art in itself.
C F — Google review
The MOA is meticulously prepared and cared about museum. The current exhibit (Rinpa) was nicely detailed with English translation. Every detail was perfect. We also enjoyed the view from the cafe and walking through the japanese garden. There is a direct bus from Atami Station (Stop 8) and you can buy tickets at the entrance. There are coin lockers.
Léo P — Google review
Interesting 20th century scroll paintings, ceramics, and basket art. There is a beautiful garden with a teahouse serving Japanese food. There is a shuttle from the train station. Then you go up 7 escalators to reach the museum. There is a colourful ceiling that changes like a kaleidoscope.
Kaye H — Google review
It’s so lovely. Ride up in a cab and walk down. It’s got great view of the bay and city. So many national treasures. I recommend even if you’re a total meathead with zero culture or appreciation of art because it’s got cool escalators.
Scot R — Google review
This is one of those musuems where every part of the musuem architecture is thoughtfully designed and works of art in their own right. I found myself stopping at random points in hallways and doorways, admiring the tasteful thought put into it. The museum sits on top of a steep hill above Atami city, and can be accessed by driving or public bus. The viewing gallery near the entrance provides a paranmoc view of Atami, the sea and the museum compound. There are permanent galleries housing collections of mainly Japanese paintings, pottery and crafts.

Atami Castle, perched atop Nishikigaura in Atami City, is a unique tourist attraction replicating the look of a traditional castle tower. Built in 1959, it offers diverse attractions such as an exhibition on Japan's castles and a 360-degree panoramic view from the top floor. Visitors can also enjoy a jet foot bath on the first-floor balcony while taking in magnificent views, especially during cherry blossom season.
Not a traditional castle but still a great experience. Amazing views at the top. There was a samurai museum in the first floor and an arcade below. Lovely cafe of the cliff adjacent
Phoebe E — Google review
The view from this tourist castle is nice. And the samurai museum is cool. But remember this was created I the 1950's to attract tourists so it's not a real castle. There's plenty of parking if you drive right up to the castle.
Matthijs — Google review
This place was built solely for the purpose of sucking in tourists. For eleven months, I have been looking at it from my balcony on the other side of the harbor. This morning, I peddled my bicycle up there. It was good exercise and little else.
Howard B — Google review
Even though it's an old Japanese-style castle, I wondered why the inside wasn't cramped, and it seems to be because the building was constructed in 1958. Floors 1 to 5 are museums, and the 6th floor is an observation deck. The first basement floor had a free arcade, which I really liked because unlike the arcades outside where you have to insert a coin every time you die in a game, here you could play the arcade machines for free without limit.
최선홍 — Google review
We really enjoyed all of the model's and history of japanese castles. The views are stunning. Taking the rope way up is very unique. Skip the 3rd floor folks...If there's a trap... it's this one
Dave N — Google review
Very crowded, but beautiful castle. In the inside there is nothing much, but the view from the top floor is spectacular. The souvenir shop is ok. The worst thing is the location - very incovienent for people who don't have car. From the bus stop it's still 15 minutes walk uphill, very steep. Local bus is unreliable, today it was delayed by 40 minutes. You have to wait for the bus at the edge of a busy road, next to a tunnel. You can of course go to the castle by ropeway, but it's very expensive and you still have to walk uphill. In front of castle is a cafe, restaurant and a lot of small stalls. Overall, it's an interesting structure, but I wouldn't visit it again because of the inconvenience.
Stella R — Google review
I'm a foreigner from the USA visiting. I enjoyed Atami castle. It was clean and there were many interesting exhibits. My favorites were the miniature buildings depicting battles from old times. And there was enough of a mixture of things to do to keep the whole family interested in something including the children who might want to just play the arcade games while the adults explore. Very fun experience. Though I was really interested in learning of the history of Atami.
John M — Google review
Interesting experience. Small but something to see on each of the 6 floors + a basement with an arcade. I wish we had our kids because I think they would enjoy the interactiveness- there was the arcade of course, a sword to hold in the samurai museum, some old games to test before you buy at the souvenir shop and plenty of fun photo opportunities (we didnt do the trick art museum, but fun if youre into recreating funny shots like being eaten by king kong). We came when it was raining so we could only imagine the views but worth a visit if you're in Atami. We decided a 1600 yen - 9 minute taxi cab was worth it from kinomiya station.

Nestled among towering trees near Kinomiya Station, Kinomiya Shrine is an ancient and picturesque shrine with a mystical atmosphere. Accessible through a tunnel track, the shrine is home to a revered 2,000-year-old camphor tree and enshrines Isotakeru-no-Mikoto, the deity of forestry. Visitors come to pray in front of this magnificent tree, seeking blessings for longevity and strength in facing life's obstacles.
Came on a Wednesday at 9am and while there were some people there it definitely wasn't crowded like we saw around 1 or 2 pm. It is such a lovely shrine with so many little pathways - there's a path of small tori gates (only like 8), then some stairs to view the river / stream. The shrine is said to bring good fortune and luck. It's well known for its 2000 year old camphor tree, if you walk around the tree it's said to add a year to your life span. We walked around that and the smaller tree for good measure. :)
Erin T — Google review
A temple surrounded by nature. The main attraction are the 2 centuries-old trees. There are also two cafes with outdoor tables where you can enjoy nature while drinking a coffee.
Matias S — Google review
A beautiful shrine with a very old and picturesque camphor tree - walking around it is said to extend your life by one year. There was also a nice cafe on the grounds to get a nice snack or beverage. We parked at a nearby pay lot. You can get parking validated if you buy items from the shrine shop.
Michael T — Google review
Beautiful shrine and kind staff. We started our goshuinmeguri here because we loved the trees and the wooden goshuincho. Even on a very hot day, the shade and trees are cooling. As with other popular shrines, please go early in the day to avoid crowds.
Dave B — Google review
A serene shrine that’s home to a 2000 years old camphor tree which legends says will add one year of age every round you walk around it. What I like is there are phone stands in front of several photo spots for selfies and even a platform that allows people to go up to take pictures with the ancient tree up close, and also a shop for lucky charms which have a lot of different designs.
JoyC — Google review
Huge temple complex with a few different buildings and 2 very old trees (1300 and 2000 years old). There a parking lot to the right of the temple.
Matthijs — Google review
What a wonderful, beautiful, traditional shrine. The treat options were great (ice cream and sweet potato chips were absolutely stood delicious), and the staff were all extremely pleasant women. Truly a life-affirming experience 💜
Kay E — Google review
Tranquil temple filled with lush greenery that provided a cool refuge from the summer heat. The sounds of the nearby waterfall added to the serene ambience of the temple. The highlight of the temple is the ancient camphor tree which is said to add a year to your lifespan each time you circle it. What I feel the temple done weel was the inclusion of phone stands that allow visitors to take pictures at photo spots such as the camphor tree. Surprisingly, there are quite a number of modern minimalist structures in the temple, such as the cafe right by the main shrine. The temple is free to enter and was not very crowded on a late weekday afternoon when I visited.

Kiunkaku is a unique and noteworthy historical landmark in Atami that showcases a fusion of traditional and modern architecture. This villa, turned inn, offers tours of its lush Japanese garden which boasts impressive koi fish. Visitors can explore the traditional Japanese house on the premises as well. The location should be approached with care, as the glass is fragile. Kiunkaku is an attraction worth adding to any itinerary for those interested in architecture or Japanese gardens while visiting Atami.
A very nice villa in te center of Atami. It's supposed to be one of the 3 most beautiful in the region and I can see why. You can park next tot the villa. And then walk around inside to view all the different rooms. There's a nice garden as well.
Matthijs — Google review
Great historical landmark and story from the wealthy family that fulfilling their dreams to make this happen. There will be entrance fees, and need around 1 hour of the tour. Worth visiting if you have spare time.
Bossi C — Google review
Incredible historic resort, ticket is 600 yen (cash only) which is super worth it. There are so many beautiful room with Japanese and western styling, implacable solarium and garden. Highly recommend and a must see.
Simba ( — Google review
Beautiful place with a peaceful vibe. Dazai Osamu had been here, you can enter the room where he stayed at with Tomie Yamazaki. They had seat and some good place for you to stand and look around outside. Taisho vibe, an antique machiya. Price is cheap imo for a good service and splendid place.
Đoàn K — Google review
It's the place where you can plan to go for 20 minutes, and suddenly 2 hours pass by. If you want to leisurely enjoy the architecture of the luxurious former ryokan, mixing Japanese and Western styles, stretching around the beautiful garden, up to 1 hour should be enough ( especially since most information about its guests is in Japanese.) However, with the mix of luck and willingness, you can prolong the stay, making bookmarks out of pressed flowers ( 2 for 500 yen), buying a kimono or stumbling upon the touching poetry recital. There is an elegant vintage café as well. It was a perfectly spent afternoon on a rainy day.
Anytsuaf S — Google review
Nice tourist attraction in Atami. The location has really fragile glass so be aware of this if you need support walking or have kids that like to run around. The garden was beautiful & has some pretty large koi fish that must be over 50 years old.
Craig N — Google review
Beautifully preserved former residence/ryokan that hosted many famous guests such as Osamu Dazai and Yukio Mishima. It features Japanese and Western-inspired interiors, Roman-style baths and a landscape garden. It also hosts exhibitions by local artists and photographers. Despite visiting on the weekend it was not crowded at all. It is a lovely place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Himenosawa Park is a picturesque sports area built on hills that provides excellent hiking trails and sporting facilities. The park boasts of an azalea garden and superb views of Sagami Bay. One can easily spot the ocean from the park's elevated location, which offers stunning views on clear days. It is well-maintained with lush greenery, jungle gyms for kids to play around while trekking, and ample car parking spaces available.
Lovely place to go for a hike early morning. The smell in the area is out of this world! The view from the top is breathtaking.

I when here whith my cousins, but this place doesn't have many safety regulations so I almost died here many times and I haven't came back here since. (The playground equipment is very slippery and is also on a very VERY steep drop) I feel like the toilets have to be cleaned more, but I'm not sure for real because I haven't come back since the "almost died" incident.
BoomyThe_ — Google review
It's a long but not difficult hike with lots of jungle gyms for kids to play on during the trek. Good car parking, reasonable toilets and great views
Lloyd W — Google review
This is by far one of the best parks I’ve been to anywhere. If you like hiking, flowers, trees, birds, streams, views, forest smells, cleanliness, bathrooms, parking, maps, vending drink machines, etc. etc. go here! I recently discovered this park and have taken 3 different routes all amazing. On top of that there are challenging exercise courses all along the course maybe 50 or so. Warning that it’s difficult for the first half as you start below but keep in mind it’s downhill and easier on the return. If you are ambitious you can go to the observatory above the park where you will see 360% breathtaking views of the surrounding areas including Mount Fuji. I recommend the flower bed path to the top which takes you on a path perched between two gullies on the left and right beautiful. There are maps everywhere. There are a few challenging paths that include ropes and steep trails but rest assure I see 8 year old kids doing it easily. This is a popular place for families and kids and I’m am amazed how fit they all are.

Atami Plum Garden is a must-visit destination, especially from January to March when it hosts a vibrant plum festival. The garden boasts 3,000 plum trees with various colors and types of blossoms. Visitors can enjoy the serene atmosphere by strolling through the park, admiring waterfalls and the Korean Garden, and visiting the memorial museum.
Cute spot with several plum and cherry blossoms blooming as of late February. Although we didn't try it, there's a small onsen to dip your feet at the top of the route. Unfortunately it was very cloudy when we went, but still a good experience. The garden is located at the top of a hill from the nearest train station. Several street food vendors available within the garden. Animal-friendly spot with several guests having leached dogs and even a leached cat.
Roberto Z — Google review
I came here end of Feb 2025 and most of the plums fully bloomed. The garden is very beautiful with scenic setting, walking trails and a small foot bath at the end of the garden. There’s a waterfall where you can go inside
Jupiter N — Google review
What a beautiful park. It's not lit up, so you want to go there during daylight hours. The museum/memorial is located within the garden and has strict opening times. While the garden is free, the memorial requires a small entry fee. We strolled around the garden in April. Water was gushing down the streams and over small falls. There are tributes to other cultures, including Korean. At this time of year, the plants and trees are blossoming. There are a number of places to sit and enjoy the ambience. A very relaxing energy. The walkways are wheel chair friendly. A few people were taking their dog for a walk. I didn't see any big dogs, though. You can get get drinks at vending machines at the entrance. Otherwise, there is a 7/11 across the road. The walk from Kinomiya train station is moderate in difficulty.

Pictures as of 22/Feb 2025. Park was bigger than expected and a great hike up if u choose to walk from the blossom bridge, I would suggest taking the bus. Visitors are plentiful but not overwhelming. Price for local residents and tourist staying in Atami is 100yen and others are 300yen.
Khai — Google review
It’s unfortunate we weren’t there for the blossoms. A wonderful way to spend 3 hours. Waterfalls, gardens, beautiful trails. Admission was only ¥100.00. You won’t be disappointed.
Richard L — Google review
I visited on 1st Feb. The plum blossoms were not in full bloom and a lot of trees were still bare, but it was still beautiful! The foot bath is very hot, so be careful if you are sensitive ~
Stella D — Google review
Not all the trees were fully in bloom, but it was still beautiful and the sweet scent filled the air was very relaxing. I didn’t expect the garden to be as large as it was, though.

Hatsushima is a small resort island located in Shizuoka Prefecture, easily accessible from Tokyo by train and high-speed boat. It's a popular destination for daytrippers, offering activities such as snorkeling, diving, and picnicking. The island is known for its seafood eateries where visitors can enjoy fresh catches in a BBQ style at the Hatsushima Picnic Garden near the sea.
This is Shizuoka’s only inhabited island and it’s about two hours from Tokyo. 30 minutes by ferry from Atami port. It’s a beautiful little island with great views and delicious food. I enjoyed walking around and enjoying the scenery. I highly recommend visiting PICA, there you can relax on a hammock or take a dip in the “island bath”. There are also many beautiful flowers there when they are in season. Also on a clear day you can catch a great view of Mt. Fuji. Even though it’s small there’s a lot to do here like diving, fishing, hot spring, and etc. Check it out.
Kelly J — Google review
There is not much to do there, except enjoying the boat trip and refreshing breeze. There are few restaurants but you will mostly have to queue. I would not recommend to visit the island unless you have to kill time. Plan well you return to make sure you don’t wait too long for the next boat to return Atami.
Olivier M — Google review

Magic little island. Loads to see. Recommend a visit but plan ahead to get access to the things you want to see. If you aren't staying make sure you keep an eye on the last ferry time as they don't wait!

It is a small island which is about 30 mins traveling by boat from Atami. The round-trip ticket price is ¥2600 yen for adult and ¥1300 for children. I spent about 4 hours on the island.

A very small island in Atami which is accessible by ferry boat, it takes about 30 minutes from Atami port, recommended for someone who is fond of fishing and diving, people who live here is so warm and polite, you can also enjoy fresh sea foods here,
Karizza S — Google review
Not worth being here unless you travelled all other places you can visit and nothing is left, or if you already have a reservation for scuba diving. Many ppl were fishing here so maybe that’s the other option you will have here. There are basically not much things you can do. Limited number of restaurants benefiting the vested interests mostly being so rude to customers prevented me to even try queuing. If you are starving and you are cool about arrogant restaurants, you can of course try queuing but ppl say there’s only a few restaurants serving good food so you will need to choose the longest queues (again, this is what I heard but not something I tasted and compared) Speaking of scuba diving here, I did see some random fishes and the visibility (on September) was not bad. Maybe joining an advanced group might even lead you to see some better stuff. The dive shop I attended (located in Atami) was nice as the staffs were kind and friendly. To sum-up, for the scuba diving part, I’d say it’s good for training or maybe for relaxing underwater having a chill dive...but to this island, I don’t think I will visit again.

I recommend taking the shuttle to the top of the hill side and slowly make your way down by foot to enjoy all the gardens. At the top, it is a short hike to visit the shrine, the land art park and some of the gardens. The whole area is fun to explore and don’t forget your camera as the various cliff side views, swings, seats make for great pictures. Even in the midst of winter where the bloom is at its lowest it made for a great day out. There is a cafe cum cocktail bar near the summit and a lovely Italian restaurant at the base. Both are worth a visit just for a meal with a view!

**Land Art Park ACAO Forest** is a breathtaking hillside park perfect for sightseeing and relaxation. Spanning a vast area, it’s adorned with blooming flowers and whimsical props ideal for photo opportunities. Despite its size, the park features a convenient shuttle bus service, making it easy to explore. I recommend visiting the park before noon for the best lighting; I arrived at 3:30 PM and found the photos lacking in brightness. Fortunately, as the sun began to set, the sky transformed into a beautiful pink hue, creating a stunning backdrop for my pictures. I also had the pleasure of visiting **COEDA House**, a café designed by the renowned architect Kengo Kuma. The structure elegantly mimics the shape of a tree, harmonizing perfectly with the surrounding landscape. I enjoyed a delightful cake and coffee there, making for a truly pleasant afternoon. Overall, ACAO Forest is a must-visit for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike!

Amazing place with a spectacular view! It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the service makes it worth it—the bus driver even went out of his way to return a passenger’s lost sunglasses. It’s best to arrive early to avoid crowds and to get great photos. They even have selfie stands, which is perfect for solo travelers. Highly recommend!

A beautiful place. At the time of this review price is now ¥4,000, but it is totally worth it if you take your time. Many people just go to the spots catered for instagram, like the swing and bell, but the entire garden is beautiful and they have a herb workshop by the fountain. Take the shuttle to the top then walk down. Well with the trip.
Trevor T — Google review
When I was there in May, the rose was blooming. So pretty!! We took the shuttle bus to the top, but I enjoyed it more on the walk from the top to the entrance.
Frank X — Google review
Herb and rose garden out of nowhere. With beautiful flowers ans herbs. They have a bus to ride inside . Usually people go up the hill by bus and come down walking and enjoying views. At the top they have shrine, botanical garden and a cafe. As you stroll down you will enjoy great views and some surprises waiting for you . Cafe is nice with different pizza menu. Shop is good. For access: bus stop is just outside the garden.
Mugdha G — Google review
Ended up here by accident, but it was a beautifully maintained forest/garden. When you get there, you pay a small fee to be ridden on a bus to the top of the mountain and then you start to make your way down. It's not that bad of a climb but if you have leg problems you may want to consider taking the bus down which I saw some people do!

The Atami Trick Art Museum is a unique and entertaining gallery featuring interactive 3D murals that are popular for creating optical-illusion photos. Visitors can enjoy exploring the small yet convenient museum, with staff on hand to assist in taking photos. The art is creative and provides multiple opportunities for visitors to capture fun and interactive images. Located close to Atami Castle, it's worth checking out if you're in the area, offering a great alternative tourist attraction option that showcases trick art creativity.
This was one of the most bizarre experiences I had here in Japan. This was a museum based on optical illusions and was full of fun photo opportunities. We were also fortunate enough to see some cherry blossoms by the entrance. There was a beautiful outlook over the ocean. If you’re in the Atami area, this spot if definitely worth checking out if you like illusions and unique places.

It’s a great place for family’s or people who like taking photos. Most of the photo spots require two people at least so I would recommend going with someone. The staff were a little rude, but it could be because it was a little busy. It’s also great for rainy days and the gift shop is fairly priced. You can purchase tickets pretty easily at the front counter.

I visited with my family and we had a lovely time. There is a 25m pool with lanes , it was full but very organized . The temperature was very pleasant and i saw staff measuring temperature and checking the quality of the waters oftem. There is also a big poll with several of water jets and saunas, and a slide that my daughter lovely. The only negative is that the open air bath was closed so were disapointed. The staff in this place is super nice, very welcoming ! You must bring your towel, swimmig suite and caps but if not you can buy at the shop. We really like Marine SPA and recomend it strongly!

It was quite crowded on the day of the fireworks display. Adults: 1,360 yen, swimsuit rental: 550 yen. The main thing is the swimming pool and the heated health spa room. The restaurant serves light meals, noodles, rice bowls, and other simple items. In summer, there is a store next to the pool that sells fried chicken, beer, etc. It is family oriented. Off-season can be a little quieter. The location is great with beautiful weather. It was crowded with families. There is a shuttle bus service to and from Atami Station. However, it is closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

We came to this town for the fireworks, ok fireworks. But when crowd and atmosphere was great. And the street food too. One thing's really impressed me about Japanese people, their social responsibility. After 10's of thousands of people left the beach after the fireworks. They all took their own garbage with them to dispose. There were no or hardly any litter anywhere. This we gotta learn from them.

I'm surprised that there are so many Jagarandas in Japan. Apparently, they were first transplanted in 1990 when two plants were given to the city by a sister city in Portugal🇵🇹.

Nagahama Seaside Park is a hidden gem in the northern part of Izu, offering a beautiful beach with calm waters and lifeguards on duty. It's conveniently located just a 5-10 minute walk from Izu-Taga station and features excellent facilities, including a nearby cafe and rentals. The park also boasts a cute playground for children and designated swimming areas for different age groups.
Visit back in Oct 2022 -- it was the pit-stop for the kids to have their playtime after checking-out from Atami and on our way to Mt. Omuro. The play area is large with great variety for kids under 3s and those older ones. It's cute that some play equipment is ocean theme too -- can you see the whale?? :D It's also nice how it is situated by the beach....so I can imagine what a fun family day it would be during hot & comfortable (not blazing hot/humid) days!! I also found out there's a pudding dessert shop just across the street too - that's on my list to try next time.

This beach is quieter than Atami Sun Beach. There are docks in the water that you can swim out to and rest on. There are showers, toilets, and a snack bar nearby. I enjoyed how quiet and relaxing the beach was.

Visited on January 1st. Nice contrast to Tokyo, was very sunny and unseasonably warm (15C) with beautiful calm water. Good place to take a few pictures of the sea and mountains.

Saturday markets with food and music. Nice beach, has changing rooms. Across road from the desert shop everyone tries to find (the less busy branch).

I went to the beach on 29th August, it was not much crowded and the waves were good enough to take a dive in the beach. It is 5-7 mins walk from Izu-Taga station. There is a beautiful cafe near by and they have rentals as well. It is 10 mins by train from Atami station and one can take the green car which costs 800 yens more from Tokyo to Atami. On the whole it was a hidden gem for me, liked it much more than Atami beach.
Shubhansh A — Google review
Cute park with fun palyground equipment for 11 or 12 years old and under. There's a designated area for 3 and under as well. The beach was pleasant, though too cold for swimming early spring. The south parking lot closed at 1700, which seemed a little early, but it still gets dark kind of early here, too, so perhaps that is reasonable for now.

Taking the half hour ride ferry from Atami port to Hatsushima island is a real small paradise treat. The ticket can include entry to Asian Garden, a very neat garden with hangmats, garden lounges view on the sea and a very nice restaurant where you can barbecue with friends. Quality of the food is great and pricing quite modest.

Very disapointing experience. Entry fee of 950¥ is way too much for this park. Only a few flowers and grass. Most disappointing: cueing 1hr for a snack, also high price and not good quality. The first time i experienced such a bad service in japan. In this "kitchen" (only warming, not cooking) should work twice much people. And >1000¥ for curry rice - no.

San Remo Park is a compact recreational area situated between Atami Port and Marine Spa. It offers scenic water views and features various play equipment for visitors to enjoy. The park is adorned with palm trees and cherry blossoms, enhancing its natural beauty. Adjacent to Atami Beach, accessing the park by car requires navigating a wide two-lane one-way road. Although it may be challenging for newcomers, there is flexibility to correct any wrong turns by following a clockwise route.

Nestled within the serene Atami Plum Garden, the Korean Garden is a delightful homage to traditional Korean architecture and culture. Established in September 2000 following a significant Japan-Korea summit, this garden serves as a symbol of friendship and peace between the two nations. As you stroll through its charming pathways, you'll encounter authentic features like kimchi huts and jangtotte, all crafted with materials sourced directly from Korea by skilled artisans.

(Translated by Google) This visit will be on June 20, 2024. It was apparently created to commemorate the Japan-Korea summit meeting held in Atami, and is quite authentic. The tiles and walls look similar to those in Japan, but the closer you look at them, the more they are certainly different. The garden is not large, but it has a lot of things packed into it, making it very dense. I have seen it in other places, but a type of pond with a round island placed in it is called a square pond and is a standard object in Korean gardens. The last time I visited was about 20 years ago, but at that time I was drinking beer and didn't see much of the plum orchard, but this time I took a serious look at the plum orchard. The main things we visited were the ``Nakayama Shinpei Memorial Museum'' and ``Korean Garden'' on the southern slope, and the ``Atami Sawada Masahiro Memorial Museum'' and ``Umemi Falls'' on the Kitagawa slope across the Hatsukawa River. Although it says ``Korean garden,'' it feels like a tour of Korean buildings and walls. It was a sunny February evening and it felt warm. The building and fence are clean, clean, and well-maintained. The wood used for the house is thick and wonderful. I was left wondering if South Korea uses such fine wood. I was a little surprised that the door opened vertically, not horizontally.
