A convenient location, but with that comes the reverberation of traffic and cars honking all night long. Between that, the style of the bed, and the uncomfortable mattress, it was hard to sleep. Sadly, many homeless live against the outside walls of the hotel.
There were a disconcerting number of rats that we could see from our balcony. Rats running around in/near the hotel.
Construction ongoing the entire time. All but 1 elevator was shut down and parts of lobby were closed for the entirety of our stay as the hotel was also under construction. Elevators also took 10 min to arrive and got stuck!
We did only have a standard/basic room but I was shocked at the quality considering how much it cost! The room was worn, dirty, in need of a paint job, floor replacement, window cleaning, upholstery fix, and more, it was also impossible to read in bed at night (due to the bizarre lighting set up) and hard to sleep on the mattress, hard to get in and out of the bed (our stuff kept falling between the bed and frame…need I go on?)
The blinds kept getting stuck, the housekeeping staff wouldn’t arrive even if we were gone for 6+ consecutive hours during the day. The room set up was terrible. The floors were smudged, scuffed, and crumbling and just unclean. The design of the room was just ugly uncomfortable with one old orange chair, no proper table, no other seating…there’s enough space for 2 chairs and a bigger table?!
We liked the spa but the floors were wet and slippery and it was a hazard. Why design the cold plunge and swimming pool so difficult to get in and out of? The pool was certainly dirty too, you could see all sorts of particles floating on the surface.
Don’t be fooled by the pic, all the dirt and disrepair isn’t so visible here. You can see there was space for a proper couch/table, but I guess 4k for a week only gets you a moldy old chair and a dirty room.
Again just want to emphasize how unsafe the elevators were the entire time we were there as they got stuck or wouldn’t open the doors…
The advertising is disingenuous as we were staying in what was clearly the “second class” building across a busy street from the main W building which is featured on their site. Our building was in serious need of repair, and was under construction the entire time, which was loud, disruptive, and still did not address safety concerns. It was an incredibly disappointing stay and makes me want to never stay in a Marriott hotel again. The safety concerns and the filth of the establishment, at minimum, need to be addressed.
