Irish pub
O'Reilly's Irish Pub is a popular establishment located behind the Royal Palace on Paleisstraat in Amsterdam. It is part of a small chain with locations in major cities across western Europe. Since its establishment in 1994, O'Reilly's has maintained its appeal through consistent features such as its cozy atmosphere, international drink selection, and delicious food offerings. The pub is known for being an ideal spot to catch a football match, with numerous screens throughout the venue and convenient table service.
Good Irish Pub. Staff (young Ukrainian Man) very polite. He was working on his own and managed to serve all guests around the Bar by himself with a smile on his face. It was rather busy but he was focused on all customers. We only had drinks but the Food we have seen looked great. We'll try some on our next visit. The Guinness and Cider had the perfect temperature. 👍🏼 If you have one too many drinks 🍻🍻 🍻 be aware of the stairs going down to the loo. 😉

Great place to stop in and grab a pint, have food and watch a match. Many tvs, great selection of beverages and excellent Irish basics. Staff is friendly and efficient. Treat you like a regular and make you feel at home.
James T — Google review
We love O’Reilly’s. Atmosphere and food are top. I always get the buffalo chicken wings. But you should know there are no actual wings, just drumsticks. I don’t mind because it’s so hard to find proper buffalo sauce in Amsterdam.
Matt A — Google review
So amazing that we came back 3 nights in a row! Really hard to find affordable places in Amsterdam (for Australians with a bad exchange rate), that also offer incredible atmosphere. This place does both! Staff are lovely and the food is incredible for the price. Large range of options for both food and drink. Background music was always incredible, staff have great taste in music! We will be back when we are next in Amsterdam!
Talia R — Google review
If you are looking for a good meal in Amsterdam, look no further! O’Reillys hits different. The Irish on a Sunday dinner was phenomenal. Service was great, people watching was fun, and food price was fair.
E M — Google review
Walking distance of central station and the pub itself with great collection of beer!! Best option to watch football or rugby Large amount of tv with sound system is like almost as if you are in the stadium!! Very good food! If you once want chicken then order The Buffalo Chivken Wings! It is a pleasure! Nice good friendly service! Exquisite atmosphere! Nothing less then a 10/10 pub!
Huub H — Google review
Dropped in while out exploring and had such a great time. I don’t know if this place was amazing or if our server just made everything taste better with their energy. Either way, 5 stars and a standing ovation for Monty.
Darcy Q — Google review
First time ever in Amsterdam travelling from Newcastle, UK to meet up with a friend of mine. We were looking for someone to watch the football and found O’Reillys Irish Pub. From the first moment we stepped, it felt a proper Irish pub with loads of TV screen to watch the football (and any other sport on). Guinness was smooth and lovely especially on a rainy day along with the freshness of Hertog Jan. Don’t get me started on the food!! WOW! The buffalo chicken wings were UNBELIEVABLE! The nachos were a stuff of dreams as well as the loaded fries. The staff were beyond welcoming and friendly and polite enough to have the occasional chit-chat. The atmosphere was a delight meeting people from all over the world and sharing countless stories and creating memories and potentially friendships to last a lifetime. I’m making it a ritual that every time I come to the Netherlands and or Amsterdam to go back to O’Reilly’s

Irish pub
Bar
Molly Malone's Irish Pub is a lively establishment in Amsterdam, known for its extensive selection of whiskey and traditional pub food. The warm atmosphere and outdoor seating make it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. With the slogan "Hungry? will feed you. Thirsty? will get you drunk. Lonely? will get you drunk.", Molly Malone's embodies the spirit of an Irish pub.
A true Irish gem in the heart of Amsterdam! Molly Malone’s delivers everything you’d want in a pub—great atmosphere, friendly staff, and perfect pints of Guinness. The vibe is warm and welcoming, whether you’re stopping in solo or with a group. We visited on a weekend and were lucky to catch some live music—it really brought the place to life! The food was also spot-on. Service was quick and attentive, even when the bar was busy. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun, authentic pub experience in Amsterdam. Will definitely be back!

Very friendly staff, fun decor, and a good pint in Amsterdam. Next time I am here I'll try the food but the service for Guinness was very fast. It is in a very pretty canal area and very close to central station and the docks.
James O — Google review
We loved this quaint Irish Pub. The service was fast and friendly. The food was great. The owner even brought us out some pasta she had made for her employees, that was off menu, and it was delicious. Probably the cheapest night out we had in Amsterdam.
Gary H — Google review
Our go to place whenever we want Guinness! Its an old charm Irish Pub with some great ambience. Their service chips are pne of the best in town. They are so well seasoned and their quantity is really worth the price. Their service is awesome as well! They have some live bands some evenings and it has an awesome vibe!!
Parul G — Google review
A lovely wee Irish Pub we found on our wanders around Amsterdam. So we had to stop for a drink. We sat outside, beside the canal and watched the world go by. My daughter loved all the different selections of whisky. So had a dram of Irish whisky. Thank you for your recommendation. Hope to visit again!
Jennifer C — Google review
I’d highly recommend this pub. Perfect central location. Pub’s size is good, it fits many customers. I didn’t like how dark it is inside, but this is subjective. The rugby, football, cricket and sports scarfs as well as the rest of the decorations are a positive plus. Huge plus for the large variety of whiskeys in the drinks menu. As for the food subjectively I only tried Dutch cheese snacks. It was 10/10 pub side snack. Didn’t need to try anything else due to how yummy it was. Another plus for the Guiness and local Dutch beers on the tap. I need to give the minus though for the glasses they serve whiskeys in. Maybe I’m unaware of the pub etiquette, but they have those dedicated whiskey glasses and for some reason they still serve drinks in the high glass. C’mon I drink compote in high glass, not whiskey and coke.

First time here but a great place. Nice atmosphere, live music, decent beer selection, what is not to like?
Cees P — Google review
I recently visited this place, had the pleasure of receiving service here and was thoroughly impressed. From start to finish, the experience was smooth, professional, and exceeded expectations. The standout was Dominic – his knowledge, patience, and friendly attitude made all the difference. He took the time to explain every detail, answered all my questions clearly, and ensured everything was taken care of efficiently. I highly recommend it and definitely ask for Dominic. His attention to detail and genuine care for customer satisfaction are rare to find. Five stars all the way!

Irish pub
Mulligans Irish Music Bar is a lively and popular riverside bar located on the beautiful Amstel River in Amsterdam. It is known for its traditional Irish atmosphere, live music performances, and a wide selection of beers including Guinness on tap. The bar features a graffiti terrace and broadcasts Irish sports on satellite televisions, making it a favorite spot for both tourists and locals.
Simply the best Irish pub in Amsterdam. Excellent sessions on Wednesdays and Sundays, and a great live performances line-up on other days of the week. Check their event calendar on the website. The owner and personnel know the value of hospitality and a nice chat, if time permits.
Alexander J — Google review
Walked into a traditional Irish session. Fantastic musicians. A great pint of Guinness to be had here as well. When in Amsterdam. 😂🇮🇪💪
Steve C — Google review
I came to Amsterdam on a rainy day and was welcomed by the person behind the bar from Belfast called Beth. She was wonderful and welcoming and very chatty and was a fountain of knowledge on everything to do with Irish history and whiskey. I would definitely come here again if only to hear some history from Beth and her endless knowledge on Irish alcohol.
Graham H — Google review
Since new owners not the real thing for me anymore. Bartenders be careful for your clients! Serve your Guinness better than expected! A shamrock is not an effort but a special bonus etc.
Dirk B — Google review
If you want live Irish music in the heart of Amsterdam's waterfront, then you have to go to Mulligan's. Good beer on tap, and a group of musicians playing authentic tunes on a variety of instruments make for the perfect atmosphere. Don't be surprised when the crowd sings along to old favorites.
Kit M — Google review
Best Irish pub I've visited and serves a perfect Guinness. Better atmosphere then all Irish bars I've visited in Dublin or elsewhere in the world. Live music and the staff is lovely
Teije L — Google review
Came across this lovely bar by accident whilst visiting Amsterdam with my friend. Very welcoming staff, friendly and knowledgeable. We went back a couple of times throughout our stay and each time was like the first! Live music also most evenings which is fantastic! 10/10 would recommend.

Irish pub
Pub
St. James's Gate is a popular Irish pub located in the heart of Amsterdam, near some of the city's best museums. Named after the entrance to the Guinness Brewery in Dublin, this lively tavern offers a relaxed atmosphere and serves up hearty Irish comfort food alongside perfectly poured pints of Guinness. The pub features sports screenings and boasts a huge heated terrace, making it an ideal spot for enjoying breakfast, snack lunches, or simply savoring a drink while taking in views of the city.
Amazing place for Irish Experience. Ideally located in Rembrandtplein, just infront of the square. Good selection of beers and other drinks. Snacks and Main Courses tasted good. Third visit....
Dali K — Google review
Good Irish pub to watch the world go by. Foods pretty decent here love the stew. Big outside heated seating area facing the square. Need better lager selection.
Kevin S — Google review
My food was really good. I got the fish and chips which was really fresh, crispy and tasty as I like it! Big portion as well for the big price. Drinks as usual, nice draft Guinness was going down fast. The stuff looked busy, because most of the time they did not catch my calling or waving. Also they said that we can not payed separately which was a huge lie, because in the end we did so. Nice place for more people, foodwise lovely for sure
Gergely I — Google review
Stopped here twice during our stay in Amsterdam. Once for an after dinner drink and once for dinner and drinks. Not fancy. I did like that they had blankets out because it was cold the first night we stopped. Food was tasty and delivered quickly. There is no host so it was a little weird trying to figure out the seating, but all in all a good place.
Carrie F — Google review
I had the entrecot on my first day here in beautiful Amsterdam and the evening before I left in had the fish and and chips. Both great choices. Loved it, the fries and salad I recommend 👌
Panayiota A — Google review
Fine for a drink and a bite to eat, but not very special. The service could be better, we had to wait a long time before we were helped
Andre S — Google review
Great pub and lovely staff. Good choice of beers. Irish breakfast was tasty!
Sergejs T — Google review
Nice location and decent food/drinks. However, it took an hour for our food to come, and when we politely asked the waitress if the food was still coming, she gave my parents a very rude and passive aggressive answer. There was not even an apology. Quite disappointed by this experience.

Hostel
Durty Nellys Hostel and Irish Bar is a lively lodging located in the central Amsterdam, close to the Red Light district and Dam Square. It offers clean dorms and private rooms with a vibrant decor. The hostel is perfect for party-goers, backpackers, and budget travelers who enjoy an active atmosphere. Although there's no kitchen for cooking meals, guests can enjoy free breakfast at the bustling Irish bar with pool tables on-site.
No complaints about the location or the staff .. made us very welcome and safe ..very central to everything.. close to rail . And can walk everywhere..pods where comfortable and private. No room for large suitcases in your room but can leave them downstairs ..stairs are steep but suit the building..always clean and neat . Only complaint is you have to go out for your morning coffee .. no provision in the hostel .
Glenda H — Google review
Wow—what an incredible stay! I honestly can’t fault a single thing. From the super friendly staff to the cozy, clean accommodation, everything was spot-on. The location? Perfect. Right in the buzzing heart of Amsterdam, with shops, transport, and all the action just steps away. A lovely surprise was the discount package at check-in—such a thoughtful bonus that made exploring even better! Huge shoutout to the entire team for making my stay so memorable. Already counting down the days until I can come back! 💥🇳🇱🙌
Alberto F — Google review
I was a bit worried after reading some of the negative reviews, but everything was perfect! All the staff members were perfectly pleasant and the rooms were clean. The only issues for me were the stairs (3 floors up with very steep stairs) and there was only 1 toilet for a whole room of people.
Anne T — Google review
Noisy street but really close to the red light district so you must know where you staying. The hostel has a Pub downstairs with a DJ on weekends until 2:00am, they provide free earplugs. The staff was really kind and helpful, room its shared with a lot of people more but you have some kind of intimacy. Showers and toilets were clean.
Re G — Google review
Great place for short stays and in a perfect location, close to everything. It is in red light district but as a women we still felt safe. We stayed in a capsule bed for 2 nights in a mixed dormitory, which had 6 capsule beds. However, all 6 beds were for women, as they try to separate women and men as much as possible to make women feel more comfortable — which was great. The rooms, bathrooms, and showers are really nice and very clean (with great lighting for doing your makeup and also a full-length mirror). The capsules are very big and you can sit straight comfortably in them and have thick walls between them, adjustable lighting, 1 power outlet, and 2 USB outlets. Each person also gets a locker in the room, big enough to fit a carry-on suitcase and more. The only downside was the poorly designed ladder for the upper capsules. It was quite hard to climb up and down, especially after a long day. There is also a luggage storage area that can fit large suitcases as well.
Deljin H — Google review
Honestly I wanted to give this place a high rating but too many things were off and so realistically I rate it at a 1 :( *First big minus is that there are Three floors and winding narrow stairs which made it impossible for me to bring up my luggage so I had to run clothes up and down the stairs my entire stay. * the lower bunks are very low so having stayed there a week my head has been banged up pretty good by hitting myself constantly to against the metal bars. There is plenty of room to have raised the bunk height so people could at least sit up in the lower bunk. The upper bunk has plenty of room. As I’m writing this I have a painful bump on my head. * third floor showers shoot water at the door making it impossible to shower and not make a mess because there’s so little room/clearance. * front door broke so a few times it was impossible to actually get into the hostel and I had to go through the Pub * the storage lockers slide out from under the bed and are positioned so close in a tight space that getting ready when there are even two people awake in your corner takes a very long time because everyone is in each others way. When your neighbor opens their metal storage bin it bangs against the bed either jolting you awake or just being annoying. The space management in this hostel is horrendous. Everything is so tight that there’s no room for anything. * cleaner came in the middle of the night 12:30pm banging around making noise and woke up the entire floor giving us anxiety attacks. Completely inconsiderate. * Italian girl staff wasn’t the friendliest The positive is that the space was relatively well kept. Bedding was clean. Hostel had nice visual design. But honestly I’d forego the nice visuals for a more comfortable stay. I think this experience has put me off hostels.
Fearless N — Google review
Amazing sound proof. I slept like a child in the pod, best sleep I have ever had in a hostel. Only thing is the pod is very small. I am petite so I have no problem moving inside the pod, but if you are tall you will find it uncomfortable. Highly recommend this hostel for budget travelers who just need a place to lay down at night.
Thu T — Google review
I will NEVER forget how kind-hearted and compassionate Mariana was (I believe she’s Brazilian and works at the reception). I went through a really difficult moment (I was having a psychosis episode after taking a gummy) and she handled the situation like an absolute hero. Mariana did everything she could to help me feel safe and calm. She comforted me, cleaned up my mess (something she didn’t have to do) without a hint of judgment (she was smiling at me and telling me that she’s just happy I’ll be feeling better after throwing up!!!) , She treated me with so much empathy and understanding that it honestly brought me to tears. In a moment when I felt completely lost, she made me feel human again 🥹🫶🏻 It’s incredibly rare nowadays to meet someone so genuinely good-hearted, and I’m endlessly thankful for her kindness that night. Mariana, I’ll forever be grateful for you, you truly saved me when I needed it most. I hope life gives you back all the love and goodness you give to others. 🫶🏻 And if her manager happens to read this: please know you have a truly special person on your team , she absolutely deserves a raise (and all the praise)!

Irish pub
O'Donnell's is an Irish pub located near the Heineken Experience in the De Pijp district of Amsterdam. Unlike other pubs in the area, O'Donnell's offers a more sophisticated and polished atmosphere. It provides a civilized environment for enjoying sports on TV without rowdy crowds. The menu includes club sandwiches, cheesecake, cocktails, and of course, a good pint of Guinness. With a 300-seat terrace, guests can also enjoy alfresco sipping.
Highly recommend this place. We had the spicy chicken sandwich and washed it down with Guinness. The service was amazing and the outside seating made for a great experience.
Gayatri S — Google review
Nice enough, met the most of the criteria for a place that goes under the Irish Pub moniker. Honestly, it wasn't that busy, but the pace of the service was glacial. Had my order taken at the table but was within a whisker of walking out. Moreover, if you going to call it a pint, then serve it as one to satisfy your description. If you serve it in half-liters, then call it that. Both 'pints' were disappointingly short of the requisite milliliters (568) required to make them so. That said, there was a good crowd and a good craic. I had a good time but if you can't be serving inadequately-replete pots to the punters in Temple Bar, then don't serve them here either.....
Martin C — Google review
***MY HONEST REVIEW*** The atmosphere of the place is nice, and it is well located. But stick with drinking beer there I must say. I do not recommend, however that you order a COCKTAIL, those are a SCAM. I ordered a Long Island and it just tasted like ice tea, then I went inside to speak to the waiter saying that my cocktail was super weak. I asked her how come there’s supposed to be four types of alcohol in there, and it just tasted like ice tea? She replied to me saying that it was properly made, but then I asked how many doses of each drink do you add to it and she said that was pre-made in the morning, in other words, a scam, not a real Long Island cocktail. If she had added a real dose to my drink, or made a real one, I would’ve been happy, but instead she was TRYING to DEFEND a cocktail that was POORLY made, and that’s why I came here to write this review.

Had a great time at O’Donnell’s! The atmosphere is warm and lively, and the service made the evening even better. Antony and Hanna were serving us both super friendly, funny, and attentive. They made us feel welcome right away and kept the vibe light and enjoyable throughout the night. Definitely the kind of service that makes you want to come back. Highly recommend this spot! 🍻

Great Irish pub in the centre of the city. Nice menu. Great selection of drinks and food. Nice terrace. Service is a bit slow but friendly.

Came here couple of weeks ago during my holiday The bar staff are quiet rude, snappy and inattentive towards the customers it seems like taking our order is a problem for them especially from the lady who rolls her eyes at customers. Better bar staff is what this bar needs But there is good stuff too about this bar when we sat down we were served by a waiter named Alex and he honestly made us feel so much better after the bar people we dealt with. He is very attentive and funny and always serves you with a big smile and doesn't miss a beat to make us laugh! Atmosphere is warm in the bar to sit down and enjoy some beer and some snacks! Alex just makes the bar atmosphere way more welcoming and fun! 🌟

We love it here! This is our local Irish pub. They have good beers and food, great service and the staff go above and beyond. From helping us out with lost belongings to airing specific sports games. Extra thanks to the manager Danny for organising an AFL grand final event for us!

Can't believe I have to write a negative review on an Irish pub. I do have to write it though, as I've been reading through the reviews and I have seen others with the same experience from before our visit. Leaving me to wonder how this pub has such a high rating? We had many pints of Guinness in amsterdam, in different locations - this one was the worst. We were looking to have food and drinks. The place was busy enough but there was plenty of staff to take an order. We found a table easily enough too. Went to the bar to order 2 pints of Guinness, standing there for what felt like forever. Finally a young man took our order, poured step one of the pint, charged us and just disappears. A woman came by and started pouring loads of Guinness pints. I tried asking her to top off my pints and she just ignored me. It took about 15 mins to get someone elses attention after that. I felt like going around and sorting it myself. However, I waited. I was looking around the pub and thought its a bit busy, not as busy as it does be in Ireland - where you'd still get served in good timing. The blond woman behind the bar was just standing there(looking outside), continuing to ignore me. Finally a young man got behind the bar. I asked him about my pints and said the other man disappeared. He told me to wait for him!! I said absolutely not, you're both just standing there doing nothing. Then the blonde woman Finally topped off 2 pints and slammed them onto the bar. I'd have left in that moment, those pints shouldn't have been left so long and the service was so far, shocking. But wed already paid. We drank the pints, which were awful. But we said we'd have another one for the benefit of the doubt. Sitting at a table we were waiting on the wait staff to take an order. The table beside us had a group of men watching the match and were served twice while we were drinking our pints. My husband went to the bar and was served right away by the blonde woman. The pints this time were also terrible. The staff clearly can't pull a pint of Guinness and certainly don't know about good basic customer service. It's push back on the lever to finish a pint of Guinness, by the way. Our pints were finished about 20 minutes and we decided to leave at half time. Only when we were leaving did a waitress approach us and offer any food or drinks. We were right beside the bar. This waitress though, was very busy and probably the only staff member who was actually working. 1 star for the amount of tvs in the pub. We felt so unwelcome. There's a great Irish bar in Leidzeplein- I'd recommend trying there instead. Their Guinness and service was great!

Irish pub
Hoopman is a rustic-style Irish pub located in the heart of Amsterdam at Leidseplein. It offers a cozy atmosphere, classic pub food such as stews and burgers, and a wide range of beers and ciders. The bar serves draft stout and ale, including Aberdeens BrewDog in four flavors and Uitje Blond and Wit from Haarlem. With its Irish staff, it stands out as the only authentic Irish bar in Amsterdam.
Loved this spot! Great outdoor seating, cool and helpful staff, decent food. Good people watching spot. Good beer and Irish whiskey selections.

It was the worst fried food I have ever eaten or seen in my life. I don't know how old the oil was in which they fried it, but it just smelled bad. The service was fast, the atmosphere was nice, not bad.

Decent Guinness draught and fairly priced for such a central location. I tried a swinkles beer for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff. Quick service.

We went to watch a soccer match. We had chicken sate, fish and chips, and vegetarian bitterballen and some drinks and other snacks. The food was okay, definitely nothing special. The crust on the fish and chips was soft, definitely nothing special straight out of a fryer. All the snack food was standard. Drinks were pretty good, a lot of options. Staff was very nice but there wasn’t much service. We were inside and went to the bar for all of our orders. Totally fine and they were happy to help but nobody came to us for any orders or anything. It is a sports bar, so they had the game on but it is quite loud so if you’re not there to watch maybe sit outside or farther from the bar area. Overall not bad. Perfectly pleasant. But could for sure be improved in some areas.

Came for breakfast here but was disappointed as I just wanted scrambled eggs and sausage and toast but had to pay the full price of the Irish breakfast which was €14. When the food came it looked really nice and tasted really really good. So can’t fault the quality of the food here. Overall good experience just a shame about paying full price for a select few items from the breakfast but it is what it is. 2 breakfasts and 2 drinks came to €36 which I think was worth it for the quality and the amount of food you get.

Great Irish bar in a good location. Good service. Nice selection of beer. We tried bitterballen for the first time. It’s a fried ball of meaty gravy. The spicy nut came in a cool little can. Plus fries, the Dutch love their fries.

Proeflokaal Arendsnest is a charming bar located in the picturesque Jordaan neighborhood, adorned with copper pipes and wood-panelled walls. It stands out as the only spot in Amsterdam exclusively dedicated to offering over 100 beers from Dutch breweries. The bar features a warm and inviting atmosphere, with outdoor tables situated on the Herengracht canal.
There are so many varieties of Beer's available. Around 50 types on tap only. Timothy was very friendly and provided details of every beer you're having. If you are at Central area then you have to come here. Just loved it!!

Phenomenal craft beer spot in historic Amsterdam specialized in Dutch offerings. Nicely curated selection, offering around 50 draft beer rotating options. They cover a great gamut of styles, contemporary and classic pours, with special releases in a nicely maintained set up. They also have some selected bottles and cans, and a few designated offerings that can be taken to go. Snack food in the form of charcuterie and cheese boards offer plenty of Netherlands options. Portions are generous and tasty. The venue´s decor has a classic copper and wood feel with some breweriana. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed with indoor and outdoor seating by the canal. Staff is very professional, knowledgeable, and affable. They offer courteous sample pours to explore some options, and do know the craft and hospitality business very well. I saw bartenders being exemplary, courteous, and very professional managing with dexterity and elegance the rare potentially difficult patron. The pub is part of a group that has other venues associated around town with a more international range of ales. The specialization of this one into the Dutch craft beer scene is very notable, offering a very enjoyable insight into their brews. It's a compulsory stop for the Amsterdam visit.

Wonderful selection of Dutch beers and amazing cheese platter for snacking. If you have time there is 3 additional bars that collaborate in a one day challenge of tasting a beer all 4 bars for a free shirt. It was a fun way to try the local bars and take back a souvenir from our trip.
Amber M — Google review
From the moment you step inside, you can feel the amazing ambiance. The wide selection of high-quality beers can be perfectly paired with delicious appetizers. Prices are quite reasonable for Amsterdam. The bartenders are polite, friendly, and always helpful. I’m sure I’ll be coming back on every visit and I’ve already started recommending this place to my friends.
Ozan C — Google review
As a decades long global beer hunter, Arendsnest is one of the world's best. While other beer bars tend to focus solely on their own brews or feature a menu of global beers longer than War and Peace, Ardensnest focuses on Dutch beers. There's a few guest taps for contrast, but the innovation and quality of Dutch brewers, in a Dutch only atmosphere, is the primary delivery. Ardensnest is primarily a neighborhood bar, in a relatively quiet part of Amsterdam, where locals and a few fortunate beer tourists gather to enjoy the close, friendly space and a few incredible beers.

If you're in the mood for some delicious, refreshing beer, then you'll want to check out De Bekeerde Suster! This brewery is located on the site of a medieval nunnery and features a charming tasting room and café open every day. Thursday or Friday is a good time to visit, as Master Brewer Harrie Vermeer will be working hard in the tasting room.
The outdoor seating is beautiful, but we chose to sit inside since we were with kids and there were quite a few people smoking outside. We ordered two kids' meals, one snack, and one adult steak. The steak in the kids’ set was slightly overcooked—probably for safety—but still tasty. The adult steak, on the other hand, was absolutely perfect: juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I loved it. The snack paired wonderfully with a sip of beer—crispy and addictive, once you start, you just can’t stop. We ended the meal with a sweet ice cream treat and enjoyed excellent service throughout the evening. A truly pleasant dining experience!

Food was yummy. Maybe a bit pricey. Busy place in a busy area. Good service and good ambience overall. We had no reservations and no wait for a table. The place is quite big. Only 2 toilets for a big restaurant though.

A nice pub that serves the best beer in Amsterdam. Originally built by nuns who claimed the drinking water there was of poor quality. The monastery beer, as it is called, dates back to 1544. The age of the patrons ranges from 18 to 70. This pub is definitely worth a visit and the beer here is very moderate.
Olha C — Google review
The menu didn’t indicate the steak’s weight, but the waiter said it was 300 grams, so I ordered the €37 steak and prawns. When it was served, they said it was actually 200 grams, and it was about the size of a meatball. I asked for medium, but it came out well done. The steak and the prawns were definitely not worth €37. My husband ordered a burger, and the jalapeños and sauce he requested to be added were served separately instead because they forgot.

A slice of comfort in an otherwise unfamiliar city. From first entering into a peaceful ambience to receiving our first course, the team made us feel at ease. Michael and the team were cracking jokes from the outset and went out of the way to accommodate our need for speed. Before backsides were acquainted with chairs, our orders were being taken with grace and good spirit. Drinks arrived at the table with enough haste to break the sound barrier and the food was not far behind. Let’s just clarify, no effort was spared despite the speed at which our food arrived. Like being transported to an edible elysium, the burger oozed flavour a sophistication while maintaining a rustic charm. Would recommend.

We really experienced the peak of Dutch service here. We ordered a fried platter with cheese, and it took 45 minutes before I asked why it was taking so long. I had to follow up two more times before it finally arrived. No apology, no small gesture to make up for the delay. I actually love the place, the atmosphere, and their great beer selection, and I’ll come back again. But when it comes to Dutch service standards — which are generally poor — this was truly a staple. A terrible experience

This is a really neat pub with a great local beer selection, they also have a good sampling of American beers. American 60's tunes were on their speakers sounding good. Food was beef & veggie burgers & fries, all good portions. The staff is very friendly and informative. Great place, hope to return.

This is a wonderful spot for beer aficionados. They have over 200 bottles and did have Westvleteren available :) The host was very accommodating and gave excellent recommendations for us to try new beers that we had not had before but met our flavor profiles (saison, triple) and even recommended a few unique ones that we wouldn't have explored on our own including an excellent barrel aged stout. The food was excellent too! We also enjoyed all the fun beer related artwork on the walls.

Cafe Hoppe is a bustling Dutch pub with a historic atmosphere dating back to 1670. The quaint establishment features old gin barrels and a covered terrace, offering residents a place to gather and enjoy traditional drinks like biertje or kopstootje. This unique headbutt drink consists of genever served in a tulip glass alongside beer, requiring patrons to tilt their heads for the first sip hands-free.
NICE spot for a drink and people watching. Excellent beer and cider selection. Wine and cocktails too. Good snacks. Very casual.

We visited on Saturday so it was very busy and couldn’t sit outside which was ok. It can be very loud inside but again, nothing we can complain about when people are having a good time! We stopped for a drink and some Bitterballen. A few drinks on the menu were no longer available so we had to ask for alternatives which we were told were not on the menu but the staff were great with letting us know the options. Only criticism is that is isn’t clear which toilets are male or female or if they are mixed so we took our chances.

Despite looking packed from the street, there's usually seating inside. Outdoor tables offer better Amsterdam views if that's your priority. Staff moved efficiently despite the crowds. We tried the vegetarian bitterballen - freshly fried, crispy, and served within 10 minutes. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout. Perfect for a quick, authentic Dutch snack without the tourist trap experience.

My husband and I had a couple of amazing nights at Hoppe! The Bitterballen is absolutely incredible (tip: break it open first and let it cool down a bit before eating). We were told to try the meatballs but we didn't have time. We were having so much fun with the staff and the locals that by the time we realized we were hungry, the kitchen had already been closed for a long time, haha! Serves us right. We will be back when we return to Amsterdam and we will be trying the meatballs, and will of course be getting the Bitterballen again. Thank you to everyone we met on our vacation, you truly made it so much fun for us both!

Café Gollem, Amsterdam's original Belgian beer bar since 1974, is a haven for beer enthusiasts. With a warm and cozy atmosphere, adorned with vintage beer memorabilia, it offers the perfect setting for an evening of beer exploration. The bar boasts an extensive menu of over 200 beers (14 on tap), making it a paradise for connoisseurs.
If you are unfamiliar with Google reviews, one is asked to provide a 'number of stars' rating for food... What a joke for this place. For me, and anyone reading this, it was, and should be, about the beer. I have no idea if they even serve food (perhaps some simple meat or cheese should be about it if they do), but for those who go in to a place as good as this to have food, when so much good beer is on offer...well, they should be shown the door. I found myself here because of the great fire of Heathrow, which meant my inbound flight was diverted to Amsterdam and I had an enforced stopover....well, as much enforced as one might view it as. It is close to a British pub, both in terms of the staff and the patrons. A great mix of the 'me'-type (there for a good solid sampling of a wonderful range of beers) as well as loud chatty groups and down to couples, flirting with each other as well as any number of beers with 6, 7, 8 and occasionally even 9% alcohol content. It is a beerily wonderful place; depressing only in that I had a couple of hours there before retreating to sleep before getting an early train to Schiphol and a return to the Sceptred isle.
Martin C — Google review
Gollem seems to have a few cozy craft beer spots in Amsterdam, this one in the Pijp very near the Albert Cuyp Market did not disappoint. 14 or so craft draft offerings, some selected cans and bottles, in a relaxed contemporary/wooden pub environment. Staff is congenial, professional and knowledgeable, balancing a neighborhood vibe feeling with the tourist crowd. They offer Amsterdam snack pub food leaning on cheese and charcuterie boards, which can support nicely a session. It might be worth noting that the venue was ruled by an orange tabby cat named Amber who had its own designated drinking area. But for me, what did it was the Jacob Jordaens rendering of his painting "The King Drinks" behind the bar.
Daniel L — Google review
Lovely little bar with so many choices of beers. They have lots of gluten free options too (only bottled so no cross contamination from the keg lines). And a lovely friendly tabby cat.

After a long day of travel, we stopped in for some much-needed food and ordered the classic Dutch pancakes and coffee. The food was good—warm, satisfying, and hit the spot—but not particularly memorable. What stood out, however, was the excellent service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and easy to chat with, making us feel right at home. It’s a great spot to relax, enjoy a drink, and take in the street scene outside. Had the privilege and pleasure of visiting here when we visited Amsterdam recently. The weather at the time was miserable and wet so we just wanted a genuinely good coffee and something nice to eat, this place did not disappoint at all, food and coffee were excellent. The staff here are also ultra friendly and polite. It was so good, we returned again later in the day to have more coffee before we made our way to Rotterdam to make our way home. Cafe Belgique is a small, quirky bar located in an alley just off Dam Square in Amsterdam. Despite its size, it offers a wide selection of over 50 types of Belgian beer, with eight available on tap. The interior combines Dutch 17th-century style with graffiti art, creating a unique atmosphere. This bar is known for attracting street artists and DJs and features graffitied walls both inside and outside the establishment.
A charming and cosy little bar with pretty aesthetics. Plenty of choices not just for the usual patrons but also for teetotalers. Really nice vibes inside, even if you might have to stand.

Great small bar with many different artworks going on. Every wall tells a different story. Excellent beers, spirits on offer but you'll need a few visits to have a good appreciation of the variation on offer.

I had such a great time here! I love Belgian beers so going here was like a pilgrimage for me. Such a wide selection on tap and in bottles, served properly with a moody ambience. Great street art in and around too. The server was helpful in her recommendations as well.

What a place! One of the nicest bar in Amsterdam center. Very characteristic and charming. Many different particular beers, I recommend triple karmerliet. Staff is very kind and funny, the guy was Italian so we could talk a bit. Prices are totally on average. Definitely recommend trying. Thanks for the experience, I’ll come back !

Love this place… amazing selection of beers, cozy atmosphere, great music, small and intimate… nice to seat outside and watch the people passing by… great meeting point as well. Very central. Good service…

A fun little hole in the wall on a rather touristy street. An impressive list of beers on draft and poured the classic way. Staff are some friendly characters. Clearly some history in here. Worth the stop, would recommend.

La Chouffe at Café Belgique It’s been almost exactly twenty years since I had my first La Chouffe. Right here at Café Belgique. Still an amazing place for Chouffe or ”Ouf, in Café Belgique drinken we Chouffe!” Pretty sure I had my first Kwak on the same journey to Amsterdam, so here’s to that as well. A beer knurd destination on its own. Not the latest hazies, and not the greatest lambics, but loads of trad Belgian beer and history in the walls. Loving it.

Bierfabriek Amsterdam is a trendy brewery and restaurant with an urban vibe, offering craft ales and organic grilled dishes. The spacious venue features gleaming copper brewing tanks at its center, where they produce their own Rosso red ale and Nero porter, along with an unfiltered light pilsner in collaboration with a local brewery. One of the highlights is the five self-service tap tables that ensure a constant supply of excellent beer without waiting at the bar.
Bierfabriek was such a fun spot for dinner and drinks! Their house-brewed beer was smooth and refreshing, perfect with the hearty food. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, the fries crispy with that classic Dutch mayo, and the stew was rich and comforting with a kick of flavor. The vibe inside was awesome, quirky decor (we loved the chicken with beer bottles!) and lively energy made it feel casual but unique. Great spot for hanging out with friends, enjoying solid pub fare, and sipping on quality beer. Highly recommend for a relaxed and satisfying night in Amsterdam!

I already knew Bierfabriek for a long time but never had the chance to eat there, this time I finally got a chance to go there with my clients. We went with 4 people, ordered the half meter mixed meat plank, mixed salad and charred broccoli, self brewed beer and the portion was perfect for us. All the dishes tasted very good, and we particularly liked the chicken, it’s definitely a must try! Will definitely go back for the good food and great service.
N. Z — Google review
Farm Chicken is highly recommended! We really liked the nachos and bitterballen, and the fries served with the chicken were probably the best in the city. The chicken itself was super delicious, and the portions were huge. Service was quick and friendly during my second visit in the daytime when it was less crowded. I’d definitely recommend coming during the day — at night, when it’s busy, it can be a bit hard to get the waitress’s attention. Great location overall!

this place has a very unique interior that gives a grunge/vintage vibe! The staff are quite friendly and the food doesnt take long to arrive! We got a big meat platter and the chiken soft tacos! Bith dishes were excellent!! Totally recommend!

A modern style brewpub. They have a food menu but I only stepped in for a beer and sat at the bar where there was ample space. Their draft selection are their own beers. The porter was solid. There is a slightly generic feel to the whole place but still not a bad place to stop for beer at least.
Steinar J — Google review
In one word, it's amazing. Both the beer and the food are delicious. I definitely recommend it.
Bekir K — Google review
To start, Tegan took exceptionally good care of us. Not only was it my wife’s birthday but she also has gluten issues and Tegan took care of both situations like a true pro she is! She walked my wife through the menu and explained which items she should stay away from and that was a great relief. The food itself was very good and the outside atmosphere was perfect on a perfect Wednesday evening in Amsterdam. Bedankt Tegan!!
Gordon M — Google review
What’s not to love? The vibe is great, the food is DELICIOUS (the sticky cauliflowers is a must try!), the service is great and the beer is cold and tasty. It’s a bit on the pricier end for sure, but the kind of food and drinks and experience that is worth the price tag 👏🏼

Brouwerij De Prael is a charming microbrewery tucked away in an alley near Amsterdam's Red Light District. The brewery offers a laid-back atmosphere with long wooden tables and brick walls, making it the perfect spot to enjoy house-brewed draft beer and pub fare. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the brewery's history and traditional brewing methods, or simply relax at the spacious brewpub while savoring classic Dutch meals and bar snacks.
Our family truly enjoyed our time in this pub. The food was delicious, especially the meatballs in gravy. This pub has traditional/old features and a slightly quirky layout but it doesn't feel cramped at all. The tables are generously sized and the covers aren't squeezed in like in many other restaurants in Amsterdam. The giant fan and water dispenser kept it comfortably cool on a hot evening. The service from Steven and Tom was super friendly and attentive. My husband loved his beer flight and we all really enjoyed the selection of card and board games. Highly recommend.

Belushi's is a popular sports bar in Amsterdam that offers delicious burgers and a wide range of drinks. The bar is open late into the night, and attracts a diverse crowd of locals, tourists, and students. It has a large selection of international sports games to watch, as well as group packages for most major games.
It's a cool bar to watch some sports like football and formula one. Is generally crowded during live sports but getting a table is generally manageable. There's a huge selection of drinks, especially the stronger spirits. There is typical pub food, which is not amazing. Pale and way too salty fries, but ok'ish burgers and chicken.
LP L — Google review
A pretty spacious bar for how narrow the entrance is. Looks like it's students' favourite gathering spot. Very noisy and boisterous pub. Decorated with plenty lights, the tiny back terrace looks beautiful, but what a pity, it's crowded by heavy smokers.
Justin E — Google review
I visited this place at the end of September 2025 for a morning lunch. My aim were the hot chicken wings, and my order consisted of 1/2 kilo portion of chicken wings with the Louisiana-style hot sauce, potato wedges, and some strawberry juice (Looza). The juice was great! It's not like I just received juice, there was ice and slices of lime. My goodness, I haven't gotten so much attention to a drink in a while and at the price they serve it at, that is a 5+/5. Shame I can't give 6/5. About the wings, I am sorry to say this: they felt undercooked to me, and were also devoid of any crispiness that is so characteristic for hot wings. Also, they were served quite cold compared to the potato wedges. The dish was completely dominated by the sour smell and taste of the Louisiana-style hot sauce, whilst I preferred to also feel some taste of the juice from the wings once I got inside, which I couldn't get a slightest hint of. The sauce hotness seemed all right from what I read about it. My belly disagreed with this meal, due to what felt to me like under-prepared and relatively cold-served chicken. That is a 2/5 altogether for the wings. In terms of presentation, one of those paper packs was sticking to a wing (check the image), which was not a great first impression. Potato wedges were really hot in temperature. I've left them for after the wings, and they were still searing hot. I assume that is good. The seasoning was quite good on them, it must be quite a feat to make it stick so well. What I was missing, however, is moisture in those potatoes. They were quite dry and have felt like sand on the inside. My belly also disagreed with their dryness. That is a 2/5 altogether for the potatoes. In terms of presentation, this has a nice touch. I got potatoes in a newspaper-like wrap, with two sauces. The cost of those items was very much *all right*; fair for the quantity of the dishes. The exception was the juice, where the price was on the generous side. Very nice offer in terms of quantity for the price! This bright space, although relatively mid- to small-sized, has quite a vibe. The colors are bright, the walls are covered in musical album covers, and there is even a mirror ball on the ceiling! The music is on the mid-loud side, but it's possible to have a conversation. The atmosphere must be the selling point here, 5/5. The staff interactions were okay. I would say possibly a bit distant, but okay! 4/5 I would say the cleanliness of the place is around 4/5; I've noticed some dirt on the floor around my table, but overall it was fine. So, I can't judge the lunch based on the drink, so together with the fair price and the whole rest of the package it's about 3/5 for this place. The food alone would have been a clean 2/5 from me, it has a long way to go and I think it is the main thing to improve.
Martine — Google review
Chose this place to have a lunch for a group of four. We ordered some burgers and chose wedges as a side dish and some drinks. Food was good, yes(although the burgers consisted 50%of a bun) but when the check arrived we were unpleasantly shocked by the price. It turns out you have to pay for the fries separately. The menu is made in the way it’s not obvious at all, misleading you to believe you just choosing it as part of the dish. It is done deliberately. Also, one of toilet cabins had a broken door lock and the floor was sticky and it smelled.
Melissa — Google review
The potato wedges was very flavorful and the quantity was good enough for the price. Quite close to centraal, making it a very convenient location. The place was designed quite well. Service was great too!

Needed to wait a long time before we got served despite being almost the only people in the place. Then we needed to follow up with the staff about the order only to find out it was never registered due to an issue with the machine. The food itself lacked any kind of spice. We got free drinks as a compensation but it was not a pleasant experience.

Great service, fast and attentive staff. I expected the chorizo and Padrón peppers to have some heat, especially in a place where the kitchen speaks Spanish—but they were surprisingly mild. A bit disappointing. On the bright side, the Eggs Royal were spot on—perfectly poached eggs, smoky salmon, and rich hollandaise on crispy bread. Nice spot with a lively vibe, but if you’re after real Spanish spice, you might want to ask first!

My all time favourite bar. I love their seasonal drinks. Now it is spring time, soon rhabarberzeit. The sour beer is an all seasons favourite for me. During the winter they have soulwarming warm cider, so good you forget about the cold and wet Dutch weather outside. We were so excited to try this place for the first time but it was such a letdown. After waiting a while at the bar with no service, one of the staff spilled coffee all over my friend and our jackets. We were very understanding — accidents happen — but there was no apology or even an offer of a napkin, which would’ve gone a long way. Instead, she just wiped the table and walked off. We ended up leaving without ever being served. Really disappointing experience :(

Very cozy place to enjoy a German beer. The inside is really quiet and comfortable, a really nice style. Beers are somewhat particular, which is nice since you can differ from the usual Dutch beers you can find in every pub/bar. The Papeneiland Café is a charming traditional cafe located on the corner of Prinsengracht and Brouwersgracht in Amsterdam. Established in 1642, this cozy "bruine kroeg" offers a picturesque canalside setting with outdoor seating. The wooden interior, adorned with Delft blue tiles, has retained its historic charm over the centuries. The café's rich history includes serving as an entryway to a clandestine Catholic church during the Reformation era.
A 400-Year-Old Gem with the BEST Apple Pie! This "brown café" is a must-visit spot in Amsterdam. Said to be the oldest pub on the canal since 1642, stepping inside is like stepping back in time. It's a historically significant place, known for its truly authentic atmosphere and traditional Dutch fare. We were lucky enough to grab a corner table on the canalside with great outdoor seating, perfect for watching the continuous bicycle traffic—a classic Amsterdam experience! The food was the real highlight. We paired a local favorite, bitterballen, with a celebratory 750 Anniversary beer. But the real star was the Dutch apple pie; it was, hands down, the BEST I have ever had! We loved it so much we took a slice to go. The interior is just as charming, decorated with beautiful Delft blue pottery and anchored by a beautifully antique bar. It’s frequented by a fantastic local crowd. Don't miss this piece of history!

A Timeless Amsterdam Treasure! I stumbled upon this cozy canalside café and it instantly became one of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. The place has that authentic “brown café” charm, warm, welcoming, and full of character. Sitting by the canal, watching the endless flow of bikes go by, felt like being part of the city’s rhythm itself. But the highlight? The Dutch apple pie! Easily the best I’ve ever had in my life! Perfectly spiced, with a buttery crust and just the right amount of sweetness. I’m still thinking about it! The staff were friendly, the atmosphere truly local, and the history in every corner adds so much soul to the experience. If you visit Amsterdam, this café is a must. I’ll definitely come back for another slice!

Seeing on the menu options for fresh squeezed juices looked promising. However, they charge a lot for small glass diluted juice (more than half is water). Also I had bagel toast with the most terrible bagel (or any bread) in my life. They shouldn’t be a shame serving food like that . They were openly mocking us, visibly irritated when we asked for simple things like water, and overall showed zero professionalism. Chill place in the heart of Amsterdam. They have a few beers and drinks to choose from, nothing particularly different from other nearby bars range wise. Staff is polite. We were a bit thoughtful tho regarding the quick way those glasses were cleaned. Pretty sure some of them still had soap left during the next serve - good way to get clean from the inside I guess. 🍹🧼

Wonderful! I frequented this café over two decades ago. I live in a different part of town now, but when my wife and I visited here today we immediately decided it is well worth the trip to visit more often. Fonteyn is a nice, comfortable, cozy neighborhood pub. A good mix of locals and visitors. Reasonable prices. Good food and snacks. Excellent coffee. Above all, genuinely friendly service. A pleasant experience. We will come back here, again and again.

One of the best bars in the vibrant Nieuwmarkt. Located on a very nice corner and with almost full vibes. Staff are always friendly and ready to help. They might get overwhelmed since it’s always full but they always help you. Food is the typical Dutch with the good taste that you will always get.

Proeflokaal de Ooievaar is a charming 18th-century tasting house located just a short walk from Amsterdam Central Station. It exudes history and classic Dutch bruin cafe ambiance, with stained glass windows, candelabras, and an extensive collection of old clay jenever bottles.
ANK THE Bartender is absolutely stunning! The ambiance is perfect, a great mix of cozy and vibrant. The music is simply superb and adds so much to the atmosphere. It's the kind of place you just don't want to leave. Highly recommend checking it out! Thanks to the team for an unforgettable experience!"

Classic old brown bar. Visited on a Monday afternoon and there were a bunch of locals there even if it’s right in tourist central. Good sign. A relic of days gone by but still a great place to have a drink.

Amazing traditional Dutch bar! They sell many different types of beers and jenever (dutch Gin). There is an amazing atmosphere within the place, not only is the interior beautiful and the bartender very friendly, they also play classic Dutch folk music. A fun little tradition at this bar is that you can order a boiled egg as a snack, which was delicious! Definitely check them out if you want an authentic dutch drinking experience!

Cafe Schuim is a pub located near Dam Square in Amsterdam, housed in a new building. It may be challenging to spot due to its small sign, but it's worth finding. The cafe offers a variety of dishes, with the mushroom ravioli being highly recommended by visitors for its abundance of fresh mushrooms. The ravioli and burgers are particularly praised for their taste and quality.

The place is fine for a quick drink and snack, but food options are limited. We had nachos—they were okay. It’s self-service, so expect to wait in line at the bar. Card reader didn’t work during our visit, so bring cash. Nice interior design, though!

Great neighbourhood bar with outside seating close to the centre. Quirky art inside and good Heineken. The frites were absolutely delicious and the best of our trip! Staff were friendly and service swift.

The ravioli they have is the best ravioli I have ever tried in my life, and I'm saying that after traveling across Italy. If you are here ravioli is highly recommended! The meat in the burger was perfectly medium rare 👌 Portion of nachos is what you need for a company. This place is a bit noisy in the evening, so if you want to meet with friends and catch up - this place might not be very suitable. But it fits perfectly if you just want to have a good time!

I had been walking around for hours, trying to find a pub for a pint of something wasn't trash... and a crowd that wasn't a bunch of loud kids full of Becks. This place drew me in... initial vibe check was reasonable and they had Punk IPA on tap... good start... but it was too late that I realized I had made the classic mistake of walking into a hipster bar and not being a hipster myself. Euro hipster have fewer silly mustaches per capita than other hipster enclaves, it seems. I'll have to figure out a new giveaway. I had my pint. It was lovely but lonely. Guess I didnt need another... I mean... there I was. At the bar. Empty pint glass... place was pretty empty. Fair enough. Off I went. I would have had at least one more drink and some food, but I guess they are doing such awesome business that they didn't need mine.

Last Sunday, we stopped by around 20:40 (checked on my bank now) and ordered a bottle of Prosecco at the bar with 4 glasses. Paid 24 Euros, got it in a cooler and went out with 4 glasses, sat down, opened the bottle, poured in the first glass, it was with no colour nor bubbles. When we smelled it, shockingly it was water, definitely smelling toilet, we almost vomited. All 4 of us went back in, told the bartender about this, they took the glass and 3 bartender smelled it one after another, then do you know what they said? It is a water and smelling just fine! What??? 1st, it is not supposed to be water, its a freakin Prosecco! 2nd, it smells disgustingly shit, probably water from the toilet or whatever. Then she said she can give us a new bottle, we said no thank you, refund and we want to leave! Then she says, oh she can’t do that bla bla when we all started to talk again, she just went to cash register and brought 24 Euros cash. We still think how the hell this could happen, worths to be investigated. Could lead to serious health issues.

First of... the view is beautiful and this place is one of the coziest places in Amsterdam center. If you are lucky enough to sit by the window you will love it even more. The coffee was good I ordered a spicy toasty with Jalapenos and it was delicious. Service was also really good and fast, the lady taking care of us was always around checking if everything was good. Finally prices for city center are ridiculously LOW. 2 people we had 2 coffees, sparkling water, toasty with Jalapenos and eggs on bread with ham and cheese and we paid something like 19.20. Absolutely recommend it and I ll go again. Dont forget to tip the service! 😉

Brouwerij 't IJ is a renowned brewery located next to the iconic De Gooyer windmill in Amsterdam. Established in 1985, it was one of the pioneers in the Dutch microbrewing scene and has since become a beloved fixture in the city. The brewery offers a variety of organic blonde and dark beers, including an IPA, Belgian blonde, wheat beer, and stout. Visitors can enjoy their brews on a bustling terrace or inside the cozy taproom.
Amazing beer. I was here 17 years ago and they still had the Columbus. It 9% but has an amazing flavor. If you are in Amsterdam this is a must stop. On weekends they offer the brewery tour
Ian T — Google review
⸻ The beer here was excellent, with a wide variety of options to suit different tastes — from lighter, refreshing styles to richer, more complex brews. I also really enjoyed the snacks; they were delicious and paired perfectly with the drinks. One of the things I appreciated most was the self-service setup, which makes the whole experience feel very casual and easy-going. It’s the kind of place where you can relax with friends without feeling rushed or overly formal, and that’s part of its charm. Prices are a little on the high side, especially compared to similar spots, but the quality of the drinks and the overall vibe still make it worthwhile. That being said, the place could benefit from a bit more attention to cleanliness — it’s not a major issue, but it’s noticeable. Still, if you’re looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy good beer, tasty snacks, and an informal atmosphere, this is definitely a place worth checking out
M N — Google review
Great beers and brewery in a windmill. We had the tasting 17.5 € pp, and it was good to taste their different beers. It was a bit windy being outside but there were no tables inside. The food selection somewhat limited and the friendliness of the staff working at the food counter could be improved.
Enrique R — Google review
Easy to get to and the wait time is short. Lots of options for drinks to choose from. Plenty of seating for couples and groups. The location looks amazing too. We sat outside by the river and had a beer each. No complaints! A great place to visit.
Andrea N — Google review
The service here needs improving. They’re always busy so it seems they can get away without treating customers well or adhering to food standards. The beer was ok but the food was terrible. Poorly put together and served by a guy who kept licking his fingers in between cutting up sausage, cheese and squeezing out mustard and other sauces from a bag - DISGRACEFUL! Being a typical Brit, I didn’t complain, but I couldn’t eat it after seeing that.
Phil T — Google review
We tried a flight at Brouwerij 't IJ—decent beers, but mostly their basic range. None of the more unique or special brews were included, which made it a bit underwhelming if you're hoping to taste the brewery’s full potential. At €17.50, it felt overpriced, especially with cold service and a tip prompt. Still, the windmill setting is charming and it’s a pleasant enough stop, though it leans touristy.

Located near Amsterdam's Central Station, 'Hannekes Boom' is a laid-back dockside restaurant with a terrace that offers a variety of seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The beach hut-style venue is constructed from salvaged materials and has a universal appeal, attracting students arriving by bicycle as well as young professionals stepping off boats. The large tree-lined terrace is bustling in the summer months and remains busy in winter with activities like curling, live music, and a roaring fire.
Hannekes Boom is one of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. Tucked away by the water, it has a fantastic outdoor setting with beautiful views, perfect for relaxing with a drink in hand. The outdoor seating is especially lovely, with charming table decor that adds to the laid-back vibe. Inside, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a rustic, bohemian feel that makes you want to linger. It’s a great place for some drinks and sandwiches, whether you’re with friends or just unwinding on your own. The vibe is usually super chilled, which I absolutely love. All in all, Hannekes Boom is a great spot to escape the bustle of the city for a while and just enjoy the scenery and the good vibes. Highly recommended!

Amazing atmosphere with good vibes and nice views, it can be difficult to find a place to sit, but it's possible to split a table with someone if they're okay with it. There are a lot of beer options and also jars, which makes it easier to share. They also have vegan options, and we tried the Vegan Bitterballen and it was simply amazing! I can just recommend it.

This place is really a cool spot, good cold beer, good food and if you come by boat you can pull up to the dock, scan the QR code and the servers will bring your food and drinks right to your boat! Absolutely idyllic! Great for an outdoor pint in a non-touristy atmosphere, with some shade under the trees, this place is tucked away between houseboat gardens, but mere minutes walk away from the Science Museum and city centre & perfect if you want a little oasis away from the bustle. They offer a solid beer selection, small plates and desserts, but it's all about the dreamy atmosphere. You can even dock your boat and order drinks there via QR code! Extra mention goes to the tables - every single one is a unique piece of art! Cannot recommend the place enough
Franziska K — Google review
The atmosphere was great, and the weather enhanced it. You can even go for a swim but I didn't. Foodwise. The snacks were good and flavorful, especially the Bitterballen and Nacho's. However, the main food (burger) was of poor quality and lacked flavor. Fries were great though. If they improve on the quality of the main dishes, I can definitely recommend this place. If you only go for drinks and snacks, also great!
Louis T — Google review
A very inviting spot for drinks and snacks with friends or coworkers, especially on those rare, warm sunny days in Amsterdam. The prices feel fair for a place that offers such a relaxing view over the river. Bonus: you can even park your boat here and order drinks, making it a unique and charming experience.
Afonso V — Google review
Perfect location is being wasted by the incompetent management! I have been here a couple of times already in the last years but my final visit made me to review eventually. Prices are high for what you get as a food/service. We ordered 4 cheeseburgers and 3 of them had cartilage pieces in them. How low is the meat quality. You order Cola and it tastes worse than the machine ones in McDonald's. Plus, the food and drink are served with paper/plastic cup and board. I am not visiting here soon. There are already better places by the water in south. The management team needs a fact check.

They overcharge tourists (maybe others too). I was charged €20 for two pints of tap beer, it wasn't a special. I later checked their menu online, there is nothing priced over €8 a pint on tap. Having read the online comments from others, it seemed pointless getting into an argument about it with the owners or staff, it appears they do this scam and then expect you to accept it. Recommend you avoid and find somewhere else to enjoy a pint without having the feeling of being ripped off. Nice view from the seating outside.

Amazing bar in the center of Amsterdam. As it's a beer tasting room they have many different kinds of beers, both from the tap and bottled. Every single one we tried was great, even the IPA's which I normally don't like. The people working here are also so friendly and talkative, they recommended us many great beers. They don't have any music to make sure people can talk with each other and not be distracted, which I personally prefer. They also have great bar snacks up until closing so you don't have to leave if you get a bit hungry. Only been here once now but it's immediately one of my favourites, will definitely return!

Nice Bar, very busy. One of the few bars in Amsterdam with an alternative touch, but still the same music as every rock/grunge bar in Europe, very predictable. Bonus point for the very nice terrace facing the canal and the comparable cheap beer (still at least 6 Euros for half litre).

I only went for the on taps and all were brilliant. Barman was incredibly knowledgeable and super patient with my questions. If you're in the area this is a must visit!

Good atmosphere and fantastic staff. Plenty of choice of beers, some on tap, some in bottles. Other drinks available for anyone who isn't a beer drinker. Had some Nachos, huge portion and lovely! Would return here!

Bad experience. Was so excited to visit, as their signature brew is sold at on of the bars I frequent in little Cambridge, WI. Sign on patio said that they open at 4:00, so we, and a bunch of others, dutifully waited. At 4:00 the owner/manager? came out and yelled at us that they do not open until 4:30. I pointed out that the sign says 4:00 and he got very snotty and said, yeah, well, I changed my mind! I looked at him and said, Yeah? Well so did we! We went across the tracks to a very sweet welcoming bar. Later, we did pay this place a visit. It feels dirty and dingy. We were told seating was only near the bar and someone threw menus on the table without any further information. We waited. And waited. Finally someone from our party got up, went to the bar and ordered for all of us. Beer was fine. They pour too large a head on it, though. Could have done without the attitude. We left as soon as we could. Rudeness should never be rewarded. Amsterdam, overall, has the best service. Kind, thoughtful, caring people. But not here.

Highly recommendable for beer lovers. Huge selection of beers, don't forget to try the signature Delirium beer from the place. Surprisingly, great spot for meals as well. I can highly recommned the spare ribs and burger (pictures included). For more experiences like this, follow me @quiquinnv
Enrique V — Google review
The location is pretty nice, especially for those very rainy nights. However, the poor service and the staff's rudeness makes this place recommendable only if all other pubs near by are already full. The only have biers, so don't expect to find anything else. Although they do have a lot of beers in the menu, if you want a specific, rare, one they probably don't have it on stock. Worth to mention they have only one type of gluten free beer. And it's not the best 🙈

Very trendy out of the way cafe & craft beer emporium! Super selection of beer & radlers.. we ate outdoors at the picnic tables & experienced a beautiful Amsterdam sunset. Food was pretty decent and staff very friendly. Gave great suggestions on beer sampling. If you like the craft beer experience- go here when in Amsterdam 🇳🇱 🍻❤️💙

A lovely place close to the water. There are many nice beers and you can get a tray of 3 small glasses of different tap beers to try them out. The staff was very kind. We will come back to try out more kinds of beer!

Irish pub
Dan Murphy's Irish Bar is a cozy and lively pub located close to the city center, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The friendly bartenders provide quick service, making it a great spot to relax with a pint of good beer. While the prices may be on the higher side, it's an ideal place for Liverpool Football supporters to catch an EPL game. The atmosphere is inviting, but neighboring bars might contribute to some background noise.
Been coming here for years. Always get quick good service from the bartenders. Never had an issue. The toilets were free when I went. Maybe the negative reviews are from some kind of event or something. Anyway all around good time to hang out at this spot. Always someone to strike a conversation with.
Adem M — Google review
An authentic Irish pub located right in the heart of Amsterdam! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home. A perfect spot to enjoy a pint, good conversation, and the true charm of an Irish pub experience.
D. M — Google review
New local owners who run the bar next door have ruined the place as an Irish pub. It's now just another tourist trap unfortunately. As others have said charging 50c for the toilet is the last straw. Plenty of better places in Amsterdam for a pint. Sad.
Martin S — Google review
The staff are lovely people, chatty, friendly, and quick. It’s a pity that since the new management took over a few years ago the place itself has been turning into a big tourist trap, now makes you pay 50 cents to use the toilet, and they serve what can only be defined as junk food. You can really tell nothing is fresh. It’s a real pity.
Amelia C — Google review
Bad behavior. Rude bar man Don't go here. Very bad service, not polite just being rude. Ordering alcohol free beer, doesn't listen at all and gives me regular beer. Saying I need to shout more louder, because of the loud music. I tell him I didn't order this. And he demands paying for it. With a crancky head and agressive tone. Not really nice to present an Irish Pub, the Irish are usually very friendly. Slán!
Charissa M — Google review
Nice pub. The only thing which is crazy is that they charge for the toilet visit 🫠 that’s so petty.
Gulnara S — Google review
Dan Murphy's used to be a friendly, lively, charming and charismatic Irish pub. It has now, unfortunately, turned into a tourist trap that charges high paying customers €0.50 to use their toilet! Absolutely criminal merchant behaviour, the owners should be ashamed of themselves for charging this, definitely will not be going back
James H — Google review
We stopped in to Dan Murphy's Irish Bar for a couple of pints to cool off from walking around the city. The bartender was friendly and quick with service. Everything was pretty clean and nicely kept. We didn't stay for food, so I can't say anything about that. But there is a lot of outdoor seating, in addition to their indoor space. As a Liverpool Football supporter - I was really happy to see that this is a great place to take in an EPL game - especially if you're a Red. If we're back in Amsterdam again, we'll definitely stop in!

I came for a nice moment and it was the perfect place for it. The waiter (supposed owner ?) was absolutely delightful and very professional (didn't hesitate to ask for ID to young people) and did excellent recommendations about beers. We can feel the passion when he's talking about beers. Excellent choice on draft tho. Nice music too. I definitely recommend this place.

De Pilsener Club, also known as De Engelse Reet, is a cozy and vintage pub located in Central Amsterdam. Despite its proximity to the bustling Kalverstraat shopping street, this down-to-earth spot offers a peaceful atmosphere with sidewalk seating. The pub's old-time charm sets it apart from other nearby watering holes. Instead of traditional menus, the selection of beers, spirits, and snacks is displayed on chalkboards at the back of the lounge.
Visited twice, at almost 30yrs apart and the place had barely changed! It’s such a cool throwback bar. Interior is like a lovely warm hug, beer list is super and seemingly unchanged by recent trends, so just plenty of great European styles, all served in the correct glassware. Outside seating is an extra treat in a sunny day - it’s ace.

My wife and I were in Amsterdam on honeymoon and we came in here for a quick drink between meals and I was very pleasantly surprised by the amount of beers they had available. I had a Texels blonde and a Mokum, and she ordered a Cassis. Our drinks hit the spot and were very refreshing, I particularly enjoyed the Mokum which is a Heineken brew specifically made for Amsterdam’s 750-year celebrations. The owner came out to have a chat to us and ask about our travels. He was very nice and very hospitable; we also learnt that he runs “the only bar in Amsterdam without a bar”! It’s a shame that we didn’t get to try any of the food, but that’s a reason to come back!

As a visitor in Amsterdam, walking around all day can be tiring, but this place was a great find! It's the perfect spot to enjoy a beer and take a break. They offer a wide variety of options on their menu and the place has a charming historical feel, even though it's my first time here. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff is incredibly friendly. If I could give a grade, it would definitely be an A+. This place is amazing for unwinding and having a good time. Highly recommended! 🍻👍

Great little tucked-away place for some really good beer. Has the authentic smell of a real pub from the good old days. The staff is friends and the drinks are affordable. There is not too much space to move around inside, so be mindful about that.

The club boasts a state-of-the-art sound system, impressive audio-visual elements, and an LED wall.
Before we went, I read many comments about the service and high prices, almost all of them were negative. We were at the Balkan party yesterday and everything was fine. The prices were the same as everywhere and the service, including security (because there were most denials about it) without any reservations. Thank you.

DON'T GO TO THIS CLUB!!!!! If you want to have a bad evening then you can visit this club. Security will mock you and be rude. Drinks will become more expensive and personal things will be stolen. You will be beaten even if you are not 18. And if you feel bad then you will not be helped. The most terrible club of all that I have visited. The only positive moment of this evening was the artist's performance
Глеб Х — Google review
Terrible Experience – Disrespectful to Artists and Customers I had the worst experience at Air Last Saturday. Not only was the service awful, but the way they treated the performing artist was absolutely unacceptable. The venue had promoted the event as a major performance, yet they completely disrespected the artist—cutting their set short by completely cut her off without any communication messing up their entire vibes. The staff was rude, unorganized, and seemed like they had no clue how to handle an event. It’s one thing to have a bad club atmosphere, but treating talent with such disrespect is a whole new low. If you actually care about music and supporting artists, avoid this place at all costs. They clearly don’t.
Emmanuel M — Google review
Security is very unprofessional here. Queue of people with tickets is managed really badly as doormen too busy joking with friends and queue skipping girls they like. Price of drinks is very expensive. Vibe in the club is not entirely comfortable due to lack of authority from security allowing too many idiots in. Positives are the sound system is very good and DJ was also good.
Arron M — Google review
Security is super unprofessional. They didn’t do anything when a girl had a seizure, but threw me out when I spilled some water and threw a guy out, he was doing nothing but just jumping and enjoying the concert like everyone else did.
Mariia S — Google review
We attended a throw back night, the music was great, bottles weren’t to unreasonably priced. We however were given a bit of a bad table for location and asked to move to one of the many empty tables on arrival and were denied it which was frustrating as we spent most of the night away from our table on dance floor and as the night went onto 3/4am the throwback music turned to dance music. But all in all not a bad place to go
Sophie W — Google review
This place is borderline scam. Entrance fee is crazy, drinks even crazier and then they have the audacity charge 2 euros for bathroom. Yet staff is acting like they are something better than you. The owner either lost their marbles, or is relying on tourist traffic that never has to come back.
Vojta K — Google review
Very expensive, asked was there anywhere to sit and told I had to pay to book a table meaning you are left holding your drink which means drinking more, had to pay to use toilet, music was average, serving staff served attractive girls first. Drinks were approx 4.50 for half a pint. Not worth the money on top of 20 euro entry.

Pension Homeland is a waterfront lodging located in the former Royal Dutch Navy officers mess and quarters, showcasing 1960s brutalist architecture. It is popular among locals for its microbrewery and shaded lawn by the water, where visitors can sunbathe and swim during summer.
I really loved this hotel. It definitely has a young people vibe and can be loud at night but I really loved my stay. Great breakfast too. I would only give it one less star because there's no AC in the room.

Simple but comfortable accommodation in an interesting setting. Great food options and generally the staff are wonderful. But who is the intolerant older guy who appears occasionally behind the check-in desk, exuding grumpiness and Basil Fawlty-like bad manners?
Jonathan S — Google review
Mila (member of the Service Staff) is the absolute highlight of this place. She is friendly, yet witty and always smiling. We are her biggest fans. But let's start with the basics. The hotel is awesome. It's bohemian, unique, homely and familiar. It's the old officers quarter on the old Naval base right in the center of Amsterdam. Yes the rooms are dated but charming, the bathrooms modern. The food is an awesome mix of dutch and international food. And don't even get me started on the beers, this place has its own in-house brewery with loads of tasty beers to check out. Not to forget the close proximity to the Maritime Museum with it's massive tall ship. Next door is a park and and everyone is welcome to take a (free) swim in the marina. We travel a lot but this place is a 12 out of 10 for independent, open travellers who look for a truly unique place in the heart of Amsterdam.. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay with you.

The hotel was really clean, calm and the restaurant food is great. What a shame they keep that nasty person on the front desk despite de complaints on these platforms, when I did my checkout he screamed at me out of nowhere. Nasty person, I wouldn’t go back just because I already saw there are more reviews here and other platforms that complained about the same person and this place tolerates that awful behaviour.
Dessire U — Google review
I was a huge fan of this place but today I a very bad experience. I kindly asked at the reception for something and the guy at the reception called Bruno was completely rude without any reason. He talked to me extremely bad and impolite. Such a pity. Respect is priority and with people like him working here you don't want to make use of a place like this.
Carlos G — Google review
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Very conveniently located a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal. Staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was fantastic for both breakfast and dinner as was the beers in the bar.
Benjamin B — Google review
We are a group of professional artists from Spain who stayed at Pension Homeland for one night on 19/09, flying back home the next day. From the moment we arrived, the experience with Bruno at reception was absolutely dreadful. During check-in around 2 p.m., Bruno rushed through the process in an extremely rude and dismissive manner. He repeatedly shushed us and even made a mocking “talking hand” gesture, telling us to stop talking whenever we tried to ask a question—simply because, in his words and attitude, “Spaniards talk too much.” When we asked about our booking, he insisted (while interrupting us) that it was for two nights. Believing this, we assumed we could keep the rooms until we left for our late flight the next day. On 20/09, we returned at 2 p.m. to find all our belongings removed from the rooms, packed into bags, and left downstairs. That would have been manageable if handled with basic courtesy—but when we confronted Bruno about it, he immediately started yelling, raising his voice over ours and refusing to let us speak. To make matters worse, an AirPod went missing. The cleaning staff confirmed they found the case with two AirPods and gave it to Bruno, but when we received our things, one was missing. The main issue isn’t just the lost item (though that is concerning), but Bruno’s hostile, unprofessional, and aggressive behavior. He shouted at us instead of calmly resolving the situation and showed zero respect for paying guests. This treatment is inadmissible. We are filing a formal complaint, but we also want to warn future guests: avoid dealing with Bruno if you value basic respect and professional service. Pension Homeland should seriously reconsider having someone like this as the face of their hotel.

Another place in Amsterdam another mediocre experience regarding the service. Took more than five minutes to get acknowledged and another around ten minutes for a beer to arrive the table. I ordered a Bacchus kriek and received a Bacchus framboise. Said to myself never mind, either way I’m going to drink it. Then I ordered for the second time a Bacchus kriek only to be informed that they were out, which is ok with me so I got another beer. Along my second beer I also ordered a side of fries which I never received. The server seemed to be struggling in this place as I noticed that a lot of customers from the terrace where going to the bar to get their drinks themselves The beers are nice and they have a big selection to choose from. The food I can’t judge since I never got the fries I ordered

From the moment I walked in, there was a salesperson who rushed me and pressured me to buy whatever I wanted. When I called my spouse to ask which glass he wanted, the salesperson put even more pressure on my friend by saying, "Does this always make me wait like this?" I also insisted on the price of an item, and he charged me four times the original price at the register. But he was so pressuring me that I just wanted to buy it and leave. Huge selection of beer and glassware. You may be best off knowing what styles you are looking for before you go in as it may be a bit overwhelming seeing how many bottle and cans are packed into the space. They seem to lean mostly towards Belgian styles and stouts which is good because they only have one very small fridge to keep things cold. Customer service was also great.

Cafe Hole in the Wall is a great spot to relax and enjoy a game of pool on their bar table. You can savor a selection of Lagunitas beers, which originated from Marin County, California before being acquired by Heineken. It's an interesting tidbit for beer enthusiasts to discover while unwinding at this cozy establishment.
We booked a karaoke room upstairs in The Hole in The Wall, it was such great fun! You have your own beer tap, which of course got everyone involved in pulling beers. There is an easy QR code for ordering all the other drinks that get delivered to your room. Great fun, totally worth it for a night out and amazing location right on Leidseplein.

€9.00 a pint is no joke. Two pints in a plastic glass, €18.00. One mute grumpy barman for this busy bar. Floor was sticky, it gave teen disco vibes. It has a pool table, location is good. Best thing about it is that it's open to 3am.
