Coba Taqueria is a vibrant and lively restaurant in Amsterdam Noord that offers an exciting dining experience. The interiors are cheerful and unpolished, with wicker stools and cactuses adding to the character. The menu features a daring array of tacos and tostadas, with fresh, local ingredients used in interesting flavor combinations.
Safe to say, one of the best experiences I have had in Amsterdam for dinner. Every taco is so distinctly different and the flavours are complex and precise. Every ingredient makes sense. The drinks are amazing as well.
It is pricey. But to be honest, if you are willing to spend a bit more, its completely worth it.

The food was good, but not for that price 😅 The quesadillas is something I can make myself for way less of the price. The flavor was good, but not that amazing that I want to come again just for that (specially because of the price, I feel is not worth it) I feel it needed a bit more flavor. On our last visit to Amsterdam, we went to Coba in the north, on the recommendation of local friends who knew about my love of tacos and margaritas. The weather was beautiful, and we sat outside (make a reservation online). The tequila and mezcal selection was catchy, the tacos were well thought& satisfying. The atmosphere was cool and local with a sexy feeling. The colors of the place might have won me over even more😉 Reviews have said the prices were expensive; According to what?. A carefully curated, cool, popular place that offers not only food&drinks but also an experience. How can a place like this be cheap these days? (Try checking prices online ahead) You can go to 'taco bell' kind of places instead. I loved it. I'd go again.
We really had a pleasant evening at Coba. Very friendly staff and quick service. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and it created a very nice atmosphere to dine. We tried several options and and enjoyed the taste and plating. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice evening out!

Nice atmosphere and staff. Overpriced but we went into our meal prepared for this. The issue was the insanely small portion sizes, especially for their vegetarian offerings compared to the meat dishes we saw on other tables. Mexican has always been my favourite cuisine for how easy it is to make delicious, creative and nutritious vegetarian options. All of cobas offerings used the same mushroom based ingredients with small portions and no protein leaving us bored, unimpressed and very hungry after spending a small fortune.
Food was very nice, the spicyness was perfect for me. The quesadilla was super! We ate at the bar and the connection the stuff made was very nice and friendly. The music good. We both had a cocktail that not really met our expectations. But the Mexican beer did the job. Staff very fast and hardworking so keep up the good work

Had my birthday celebrated there with some friends and we all loved it. Service and atmosphere were great, love the playlist!
Finally had some worthy Mexican food in Amsterdam. The chef were super attentive to one of us gluten intolerance. Food was really balance and well executed. The cocktails were super round, best margaritas and mezcalitas in Amsterdam for sure.
We definitely will be back!!

Los Pilones is a trendy venue with a terrace that has been serving up authentic Mexican cuisine for over 20 years. Founded by three Mexican brothers, this restaurant offers an extensive menu featuring classic dishes like enchiladas and tacos, as well as lesser-known specialties such as cochinita pibil. The Nieuwmarkt location boasts a taqueria with 14 different types of tacos, including options like spicy prawns and cactus.
Very delicious food! Authentic, cozy and tasty would be the best way to describe this place. The birria tacos were definitely the highlight of the evening. We also tried the corn cake, which I’ve never had before, as well as all the lemonades available! Such a gem in Amsterdam.

Los Pilones is a fantastic spot for authentic Mexican food in Amsterdam. The Asada Tacos were flavorful and perfectly done, and the Lemon Margarita was absolutely wonderful — refreshing and well-balanced. Definitely a place worth trying many times! Highly recommended if you are in Amsterdam and you crave for some authentic Mexican foods.

This was my 15th time at this cozy place. We stopped in for my favorite spicy margarita. The food here is generally delicious, especially during the holidays with their special menu.

I'll preface this by saying I'm from Texas, and I know full well that that experience has spoiled me. I'm not going to find an amazing taco in Amsterdam. I know that. I've accepted that.
But charging 26 euros for four tacos with rubbery tortillas that I'm pretty sure are from the Albert Heijn around the corner is criminal. The filling is fine, but when I'm having to fight the tortilla to get to it, that ruins the entire taco. Even if it were good, 6.50 for a taco I can eat in two bites is ludicrously over-priced, even for Amsterdam.
Paired with the fact that that the tostadas and guac (with pretty good guac, I'll happily admit) came with three stale tostadas, and I don't understand why this place has such high ratings. I know it's harder to get good Mexican food in Amsterdam, but I think expecting it not to be stale or rubbery is a decent baseline. Not paying absurd prices for the experience would be a plus as well.
Authentic Mexican restaurant. Although the place is small, the atmosphere is very pleasant.
The menu is concise, but every dish is delicious. We ordered two margaritas (strawberry and lime) and chicken and asada tacos, both exquisite.
The waitress was extremely attentive at all times, as was the guy at the bar. Service and food are top-notch. Highly recommended.

Had a coriander/cillantro jalapeno mocktail specially made for me. The jalapeno is such a fantastic addition, and not even the littlest bit of spice for a no-spice-tolerance-shame-of-the-family asian like me.
Fantastic experience at Cabron yesterday!! Everything was 10/10 🤩 my personal favorite was the Agua Chile with scallops - it was really an explosion of flavors!

We love the food! We had a tasting menu and ordered at least two more item that were a la carte. It was a really great first time experience eating here. The crew is so friendly and attentive. Have I mentioned that the food was delicious? My bf compliments the flavors that neither of us can copy at home. So that’s a massive plus for us. We’ll definitely come back and next time we’ll be bringing family and friends.
I had the Cabrón Tasting Menu, and it was a total win! For just 19 euros, we got to try three types of tacos, a quesadilla, and a chocolate-filled churro to top it off. The tacos ranged from the tender carnitas with pineapple, a crispy fish taco with a nice aji mayo kick, to a unique aubergine barbacoa. The quesadilla with beef stew was super flavorful, and I couldn’t get enough of the rich, cheesy filling paired with the consomé. To end the meal, the churro was perfectly crispy with a gooey chocolate center. Hands down, one of the best Mexican food spots I’ve found in Amsterdam, especially for the price!

This fully vegan restaurant was our food highlight in Amsterdam! The staff were dedicated, friendly and always explained what was on the plate in front of us. We had the Madre experience and the name says it all. They let us eat our way through eight dishes and all of them with their own refinement. And again: I can only emphasize how great the staff was. For sides, we first tried the medium-spicy salsa and thought, “eh, not too spicy.” So we went for the habanero one and quickly got humbled! Good to know: the dishes themselves aren’t overly spicy, but they’re packed with rich, layered flavors. Bravo chefs!
Dessert was on a whole other level. We had the Mole Rosa and the Mexican tres leches torrija, the perfect finish to our meal! Definelty one of the highlights of our evening.
My date and I ended up grabbing drinks at the front bar and realized we’d actually spent nearly 4 hours there in total (eating + drinking). Insane and happy! An amazing date spot ;)

Honestly i was pleasantly shocked / surprised at how much growth madre had done! I had visited 3 years ago and again a week ago and im just so proud and happy and cant wait to go again soon!
First i have to say that the service and atmosphere were always amazing from the get go, they just get the amsterdam vibes down to a T with a bow wrapped neatly on top! 🎀
But 3 years ago Madre was just starting out, and i have to say the food was quite meh. 3 years later and Madre have upped their game and won my heart in the process 😭 the amount of flavor explosions is mind blowing!
All the dishes compliments each other, and usually feeling satisfied from a meal without meat is a bit difficult for me, but the meals felt so well balanced and well rounded and i felt very satisfied! They have also, of course, upped their game with the live guac station which was a super nice interactive moment!
And last but not least, it’s always nice to have a fully plant based kitchen which means that majority of food is halal and can be enjoyed by muslims and a wide variety of people! ✨

I went for brunch on a Saturday. The place looks really cute, I definitely loved the atmosphere.
The food was refined and flavourful. I also had the mezcal margarita, fresh and smoky! 🍸 I would definitely recommend.
The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived (around 12.15). It got a bit busier through the lunch but I would say you don’t need to make a reservation around that time.

Parakeet in Amsterdam West is a go-to spot for indulging in top-notch nachos and flavorful cocktails. The restaurant takes pride in serving tortilla chips made from locally sourced corn without any preservatives. The cozy ambiance and delicious offerings make it essential to book ahead due to limited seating.
Service was really good, which is a rare sight for Amsterdam! The cocktails were okay, but I am quite picky with my flavours and love having cocktails. If you just like a cocktails very now and again its fine but I won’t be returning for their drinks to be honest.
The nachos were really good - we had the Vondel. Our table had all the cocktails across the menu throughout our reservation slot and the best one in my opinion was the smoky Paloma.
We needed to reserve a table and we could hold the slot for 2 hours and then needed to move on for the next group. They were crazy busy and many people came with reservations.
Overall the place had a nice vibe but not enough for me to want to reserve, go for 2 hours and then leave but I personally don’t like jumping between places if I found a nice spot so maybe that’s just me.
Staff were really top notch and I could see going back for this ☝️
Overall a good experience and would recommend trying them out if they have space but not that special to stand in a que in my opinion.

Amazing place which we love coming back to each time. Hidden gem in Amsterdam. Great cocktails, great nachos and great service. Due to our own fault we accidentally overpaid on tipping and they went out of their way to pay us back - which was highly appreciated. Don’t hesitate - just go there :)
This is a gem in Amsterdam serving amazing cocktails and loaded nachos. The drinks were amazing and the chef was very kind to explain the food and slow cooked chicken and pork nachos were delicious. Highly recommend for a good relaxing time and enjoying some good old cocktails with great company
I went here on a recommendation from a friend. It was so delicious and cozy. It is a small restaurant so reservations are necessary. But I think this adds to the appeal of this place. The bar is meters away from your table so you get the added benefit of watching the bartender shake up some fantastic cocktails. The wait staff are all very friendly and especially helpful on recommendations. This place is about Nachos and I love that they make their own corn (no gluten, added bonus for me) tortilla chips. From the first bite of my tasty Erasmus nachos to the last I was in heaven. The cocktails were the icing on top. I can't say enough good things about this place... You must go if you are a lover of Mexican food.

We visited Parakeet on Saturday the previous weekend at 20.20. Almost an hour later around 21.15 all of a sudden we were told that tonight the bar will close at 22.00, and after five minutes the staff started preparing for the closing. The moment we had just relaxed after dinner we found ourselves considering other places, besides that the whole vibe disappeared once the staff began prepping to close.
Since it was a reservation you could have told us in advance. Paying a significant amount under these circumstances is unacceptable.
All the above does not concern the staff, the service was good, as well as the cocktails.

The Pantry is a cozy restaurant that offers a quintessentially Dutch dining experience. The interior resembles a traditional Dutch home, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu features hearty and comforting dishes such as stamppot and hutspot, which are traditional mashed vegetable dishes served with smoked sausage or meatballs. The portions are generous, and the focus is on traditional Dutch cuisine.
Main oven was down when we visited and they were serving appetizers and small plates of some of the main dishes - which was perfect for us as we could then sample more dishes with smaller portions.
Mashed potatoes with sauerkrauts, mashed potatoes with carrots and onions, beef croquettes, beef stew, meatball and smoked sausage. Food was amazing, flavorful and well balanced. So good
And to top off, service was excellent! Definitely worth another visit!

Warm & friendly service; a beautifully designed, cozy atmosphere, and most of all, delicious Dutch dishes. The vegetarian bitterballen was excellent - crispy on the outside without being oily, with great texture & flavour on the inside. Also really enjoyed the combination mashed potatoes to try the different flavours (kale, carrot, & cauliflower) that were each unique. Bonus that everything was extremely reasonably priced.

Cozy little restaurant that's been serving the highest quality classic Dutch food for 25 years. We went on our first night in Amsterdam and it was the perfect place to start our trip. Service was so warm and friendly. They have a number of quick 3 course options if you haven't done a lot of research on the local food. We went with the ala carte option and had the best pea soup I've EVER had, their bitterballen which were fantastic and we split the XXL combination of hutspot which was more than enough food. Everything was wonderful. Definitely try their house beer "The Pantry", it's delicious!
Make sure you make a reservation at least 30 days out if not more. It's a small restaurant and timeslots fill up fast.

Great place to try dutch food: the staff are very friendly, it’s well located, and the decor is very characteristic. Although I didn’t love the food (it’s not my personal taste), it was great to try!! My favorite dish was the pea soup. It’s small and there are a lot of people, we waited a bit, but nothing serious 😁
Great place to get a quick intro to dutch cuisine. Here you can try the bitter ballen and then the combination sausage meatball traditional dishes. Excellent service and they take credit cards. Highly recommend.
The Pantry is a great choice for trying Dutch food! The atmosphere is super cozy and quaint. Get the fish menu! The shrimp croquettes were the standout -- a soft shrimp and potato filling in a crunchy breading. The sea bass dish was good (albeit I found some bones) and the veggies were great. I was pretty underwhelmed by the mashed potatoes, they lacked flavor. The dessert, caramel ice cream with stoopwaffel, was the right thing to end the meal.
We loved the Dutch food, the atmosphere and the service. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They have set menus, very good value. They offer vegetarian version for some of the menus.
It is advisable to book in advance as it is really busy.
First time trying Dutch food. The places smelled amazing from half a block away. Couldn't wait to have those mashed potatoes in my mouth. Honestly the taste is mid at best, the sausage starter was the only thing I liked, my pea soup came with a big piece of plastic and when I told the server he told me "it happens sometimes" they didn't charge me for the soup, which was the least they could do. But if you want to eat bad and have a plastic soup then come here!!

Cannibale Royale has become a popular choice in Amsterdam, with five locations across the city. The original Handboogstraat location offers well-cooked beef dishes like the 200g bavette and the 300g flat iron. However, some diners wish that the meat was seasoned before cooking for better flavor.
Such a great place! The ONLY place we found in the area where they still were serving food past 11pm (23:00). Highly recommend! Mark it as there is NO place that serves food that late! And everything was delicious (a gem for a meat lovers)! 10/10! There was a bit of a delay with drinks and food for everybody as they were SO busy (and it’s understandable regarding the delay). The place was packed at midnight. Interesting eclectic interior, they played cool music too. Loved everything about this restaurant. A lot of locals and it is always a sign i am looking for when traveling ;) our server Ivo was so busy and still was friendly, professional and attentive!
Will be back for sure when in Amsterdam next time.

This restaurant is definitely easy to miss—hidden in plain sight—but once you find it, it has a quirky charm and a cozy, intimate vibe that sets it apart.
We ordered the ribs, which were tender and had a subtle, smoky flavor—not overpowering, which I actually liked. That said, the portion size was a letdown. Both of our plates came out noticeably smaller than what’s pictured online… and even smaller than what the table next to us received. A little consistency and quality control would go a long way here.
We also tried the lobster tail. While nicely cooked, it felt underwhelming for the price. The menu says 140g, but it looked and felt like less—hard to say, but it didn’t quite meet expectations.
They accept split bills if you come with friends.
Overall, there’s potential here. The food tastes good, the ambiance is charming, but they need to work on delivering what’s promised—especially when it comes to portions.

We got the chicken wings and sandwiches paired with their beers on tap. The food is good and the beer is nice.
Service was ok, sometimes it seemed like they were a bit busy but we did visit during the lunch rush on the weekend.
We had the caesar chicken sandwich and the cheese steak sandwich, and both were very good. The chicken sandwich had a really nice sauce, and the cheese steak was tasty, but it could have had a bit more meat. Portions of fries are quite large; one portion would have been more than enough for the two of us. The cheesecake was okay, but we didn’t enjoy the base. Service was friendly, and the decor is different and interesting. I would come back for dinner for sure.

Cauliflower steak was surprisingly good for me as a non vegetarian, steak was tender with good flavour (medium rare shown in the picture) and reasonable price in Amsterdam but lack of crust.
Good environment but slightly packful and noisy, service I give 4/5 because they broke a glass in front of me luckily no one get hurt.

We went to the restaurant for dinner, we made a reservation through the website. The service was good, the dishes arrived quickly, the meats were all very tasty, especially the beef ribs. Overall, we had a very pleasant dinner and I recommend it.
This place got a really nice vibe and probably one of the best food I've ever tasted. The staff is super down to earth, friendly and funny making you as a guest feel really welcomed. The cost per meal and drinks are good - definitely worth every cent. 🍽️🥩
I'd definitely go back here and also recommend it for others. Could be good to make a reservation beforehand as the resturant isn't super big by size.

Gave us free snacks upon arrival, a bit strange flavours but definitely tasted homemade and enjoyed. Cocktails are €14-€20 ish. All very unique. The 3 servers were all very lovely and the bartender was working hard. Great dark and cozy atmosphere however quite close to other tables. Gave us water without asking and yummy free sweets with the bill. All in all lovely.

I recently visited this place for brunch with a colleague. We arrived around 10 AM without a reservation, and luckily, we found a table right away since the place was pretty empty inside, with only one table occupied outside. The ambiance was nice and welcoming and definitely cozy.
I ordered a French toast with chocolate and strawberries, which was absolutely delicious, while my colleague had an avocado dish that he also enjoyed, though I can’t recall the exact name. We also had a couple of cappuccinos. The service was generally attentive and friendly, and everyone had a smile on their face.
However, there was one moment that left a less positive impression. When we were ready to order, I was finishing a phone call, and the staff didn’t interrupt, which I appreciated. After I hung up, we waited a bit and then asked the only waitress inside at the time if we could order. She was texting on her phone and asked us to wait a moment, then finished to send a message and then went out to make a phone call, leaving us waiting. Another waiter from outside eventually noticed and came to assist us, and he was very kind and helpful. I understand that personal matters can arise, but I do believe that customer service should come first, and it would have been better if she had either taken our order or asked someone else to help us right away.
Overall, it was a nice experience, and I’d probably return again.

We visited here 12 and 1 PM without a reservation and were lucky to get a table quite quickly. Ordering is done via smartphone by scanning a QR code, which was easy and convenient.
I ordered the chicken and waffles and honestly, it was amazing. The waffle was perfectly crispy, and the chicken was well-marinated and flavorful. Just delicious!
We couldn’t finish everything, so we asked to take the leftovers to go. There was a €0.50 charge, which I agreed to, assuming the staff would pack the food. Since it was very crowded inside, I stepped outside to wait so I wouldn’t be in the way. A staff member then came out, looked at me strangely, and asked if I didn’t want the food anymore. I was confused, and it felt a bit uncomfortable. Apparently, I was expected to pack it myself, which wasn’t clearly communicated.
The food was truly great, but the service left a mixed impression. It seemed like the staff weren’t too happy to serve tourists at least, that’s how it felt to us.
I visited this restaurant on a rainy Saturday, and it was the perfect way to start the day. I had brunch with some friends, and the four of us ordered the exact same dish: waffles and fried chicken. Big minds think alike, and in this case, we were totally right!

This is a remarkable little restaurant that I just happen to find on a whim. I made reservations before going because I saw reviews that said there would be a long wait if you did not have one. Glad I did.
The food was amazing! Who knew I would come all the way to Amsterdam and find good fried chicken. The chicken was crispy and seasoned very well. Being from the south in the US, I think I can consider myself an expert on fried chicken; I’ve cooked it and eaten it for many years now. So kudos to Staring at Jacob for a well cooked chicken. It blew my mind. It was one of the best restaurants that I visited during my vacay. So I had the chicken and waffles. The waffles were very thick, dense and very filling; I did not eat all. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs.

Food is very well seasoned and big portions. Can confirm that it tasted very much like NYC brunch (with this restaurant having “New York Brunch Bar” in the logo). Got a carnivore breakfast plate. Bacon was crispy, hashbrown had a nice kick to it with spice that tasted like shin-ramen, pancakes tasted very homemade.

Staring at Jacob is a well-known brunch spot in Amsterdam. It’s located in a more residential area, a bit away from the most “famous” parts of the city, but still in a great location right next to the iconic park.
I have to say it was the best brunch I’ve had in Amsterdam in terms of price, quality, and menu options.
My girlfriend and I ordered the All Around Carnivore, and it was incredible. I recommend going with an empty stomach because it’s honestly hard to finish the whole plate. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, the sausage and bacon had the ideal carnivore balance, the potatoes were great, and as if that wasn’t enough, you also get three big pancakes — probably the best pancakes I’ve ever had.
Overall, the price is very reasonable for what you get — pretty standard for Amsterdam 🙂. We went on a Monday and even then, I think we wouldn’t have gotten a table without a reservation, so I definitely recommend booking ahead.

One of my favourite restaurants in Amsterdam. The brasserie vibes of this place are unmatched. The menu has loads of options and they’re all delicious. I recommend taking an entree and a main dish, trust me, you will have enough food with the two! Yes, it is pricier than your average restaurant but that’s why I like it, I can come for a special occasion and every time I come I am not disappointed. Great atmosphere as this restaurant is in an old water pumping station so very cool architecture and super spacious and open. The staff are super friendly although sometimes it can take a bit to get noticed bit that’s just because there are many tables.
The seafood is amazing, tasty, fresh and highly recommended. Drinks were good too, quick service and amazing desserts.

The tagline is a "refined venue" but this is more like a local neighborhood restaurant. It's fine, but not worth the drive if you are staying downtown. The steak was tough and of poor quality, and I'm pretty sure my wife (who has a gluten allergy) was glutened here despite a warning to the staff.

Generally a good if mixed experience. The Cesar salad and steak frites were very good and a reasonable price, spoiled by the fact that i was brought béarnaise sauce (which wasn’t very flavourful) instead of peppercorn sauce, and spent 10 minutes trying to notify a waiter before I resigned myself to eating as. Luckily, the steak itself and the sticky toffee pudding to follow were otherwise unimpeachable!

Amazing authentic restaurant, I truly recommend ! It was filled with locals and the food was very affordable. We got the bitterballs, the tuna melt toasty, and the cheese and tomato toasty. Then for dessert we got the apple pie ! Everything was really good, the service was really quick also.

My boyfriend and I come here often and Café Thijssen never disappoints. They serve Jupiler, Jopen & Franziskaner on tap and have a very well rounded menu that is open early until late. We stopped by for some vaasjes and a bite to eat and as always had a lovely time. Thanks to the whole team!

My friends and I visited Café Thijssen in Amsterdam and enjoyed some cocktails. However, when it was time to pay, we noticed extra items added to our bill that we hadn't ordered. Upon questioning, the staff claimed these were separate charges for ingredients, which seemed quite deceptive. This experience felt like a targeted trick towards tourists. Be vigilant and check your bill thoroughly to avoid similar surprises!
What is this place 🤷♂️ A coffee shop, inside of a cafe inside of a pub. Three lives as one. Very Dutch in a good way.
They serve breakfast. The cut-off is at 11. BTW, there are a lot of cut-offs. So many that the waiter was confused. See photos.🤣) many people will take their coffee outside…it sits on a nice prominent corner spot looking over a canal. There are many students on their laptops sucking Wi-fi and probably only buying a single coffee as they squat in a booth for two hours. But, I digress.
The vibe is all old school brown cafe . Quite a few beers on tap, basic wine choices and pub food. I had the ever present, bitterballen €6.90 and beef stew over frites €8.50. It is what it sounds like and not bad. As well as a couple IPAs.
Quirky and Dutchie, so I shall return. That’s all for now.

Cafe de Sluyswacht is a charming old-school pub located in an adorably lopsided building with fabulous canal views. The atmosphere embodies Dutch gezellig, offering a cozy and relaxing environment where patrons feel at home. The entire time we were there I thought the staff were being rude. Much later, when we were back in the U.S. I realized. They were being that way because we sat indoors and everyone was being sat outside, which was a real nice area. We only sat inside because we were going to just have a fast beer.
I am sure the reason staff was being this way...it was the day after King's Day!! I can't even imagine what they all went through on King's Day. I completely understand now!
I did have a great conversation with the bartender about her tattoos...something we love. This place has great beer and a view that is outstanding...stop in, but sit outside lol!!

Beer was delicious as always in Amsterdam, the view is wonderful, lots of fresh air, has many sits and different spots within the restaurant.
The staff very helpful and straight forward as it should be all around the world.
They don´t ask for tip as it is usual in Netherland, some places do ask for tip and for us Americans it´s uncomfortable to say no, here you won´t deal with that :)

A wonderful historic spot dating back to 1695, originally built as the house of the sluice gatekeeper in Amsterdam. The building has a charming tilt, adding to its unique character, and it’s perfectly located by the historic canals near Nieuwmarkt, offering beautiful views of the water and bridges. The atmosphere is very relaxing, especially at the outdoor seating area. The coffee was delicious and the waitress was friendly and attentive. A memorable experience worth visiting.
Really nice place to have a drink and bar snacks. It is a little pricey however the service was good and the view was very nice. Would recommend as a place to have a drink or two.

We booked a table inside for 5 people on a Saturday night. The service was very good and reminded us when the last calls for ordering food was. They had gluten free and vegetarian options which suited everyone at the table. The food was great and the sangria too. Would definitely come back again.

It was perfect, the vibes, the food, the music, the staff. Must try their tacos and the Mexican Tartare that's THE BEST THING. For the desserts, their spicy mango cheesecake is very interesting I would say. It was served warm btw. All in all, love it. Defo will be back.

We went in februari this year for my friend’s birthday and we ordered cheesecake, which was arguably one of the best we had ever eaten. It was freshly made and very tasty. Not too sweet, what i LOVED. We went again in august especially for their cheesecake, but it was a let down. It was cold and not sweet at all.

The best Mexican food in Amsterdam so far for me. The Quesadila is amazing and the spicy sauce on the side was just mind-blowing. The enchiladas were good too. The staff is very friendly and they have decent seating available indoors. I would recommend reservations in advance. Overall quite an amazing restaurant.
The chips and bean dip was delicious, the tacos were phenomenal, the burrito was a bit disappointing. The first two had so much flavor and were so satisfying and exactly what I’d hope for of Mexican food, but the burrito had a lot of lettuce and even drenched in sauce was quite bland. The fried cactus in the burrito however was good, I’d eat a whole plate of that if I could.
The staff was super nice and helpful and the overall vibe is so cozy!
They had a decent amount of vegetarian options, definitely some veggie option for every dish.

If you like your food with attitude and your hot sauce with a vengeance, Señor Moustache is your guy. I came, I saw, I ate half my weight in chicken wings—and let me just say, the hot sauce slapped harder than my grandma when I said I didn’t like her tamales. Absolute fire. There were tears. I think I saw God.
The burrito and chicken tacos were decent. Nothing earth-shattering, but tasty enough to keep me happily chewing and nodding. The flavors were there, just not quite as bold or exciting as that legendary hot sauce. Still, a solid three out of five—think comfort food with a moustache twist.
Service was fast, the vibe was spicy, and the moustache-themed decor deserves its own rating. Five out of five for boldness and curly flair. Would I come back? Yes, but mostly for the wings and to casually “borrow” a bottle of that hot sauce. Don’t tell the Señor.

Went there for spicy food. Ordered a few dishes, all turned out very mild and bland on spice. On enquiry, it was informed later that the hot sauce was missing on our table. Three of our dishes had the exact same pulled chicken stuffing (expected some heads-up if 3 different dishes were to taste alike). The waiters were friendly, the ambience was good, and the location was nice.
Not a place for a quick bite. The food takes a little time, but the quality and taste is worth the wait.

Cute but confusing. The interior is very hip with a graffiti themed approach. Yet none of the graffiti is Latin American inspired as you would expect at a taco bar.

The various themes that did not match, the tables and flooring which was very plain and out of step with the murals and the lack of music, Latin American or otherwise.
This means that while it’s a great place to drop in once, it did not have that come-back-on-the-regular vibes that a taco place needs to survive.
The best place to eat real Mexican food. Superb staff, cook and owner. Great mock and cocktails, mole, tacos and musica. Enjoy the relaxed vibe.

I personally think 13 euros for 2 tacos is a lot if you get 2 small tacos, with honestly quite basic toppings. Its just very basic food for a very high price.
The main thing thats a bit peculiar in my opinion is you get a nice serving of potatoes but you get a teeny tiny serving of some condiment with it and when you ask for another serving you pay 3 euros for it, this wouldve been okay if it was a very nice sauce but the taste of yogurt was too overwhelming.
Atmosphere was really nice though and the place looks really cute.
Good MARGS! Food was below average and wasn’t cheap. Ordered birria tacos and it was absolutely nothing like a birria. Their nachos had practically no toppings and the “fake” type of cheese which wasn’t pleasant.

Overall I think the food here is delicious, my favourite is the carnitas and the steak - also the homemade tortillas are fantastic. I agree the Nachos could use more cheese sauce but that’s because it’s really good and would be amazing if there was a lot more on there. We were slightly disappointed in the Margarita jug, when it came out it was not more than one and a quarter glass each (we did not complain so this is on us, just a heads up, would be better to serve a bigger jug for that price). Having said that the cocktails are good! Service was very friendly and atmosphere fun as always!!
The BEST 15/10 tacos I have EVER HAD - surpassing USA, Spain and Mexico etc… Corina was a fabulous host and I’m so thankful we stumbled upon this spot randomly walking the red light district! The Carne Asada was 🔥 and the mezcal flight 🥂 tasting was special. Definitely go if you’re in town!

Terrible hygiene of personal and interior. Had a soup, looked like puke. Never tasted other wise I would compare it with puke. Eggs and bacon was terrible. Bacon was second hand or found dead in the streets. The only possitive was that young lady, whom first day it was. Keep it up kid. No chance for seconds.
Seeing on the menu options for fresh squeezed juices looked promising. However, they charge a lot for small glass diluted juice (more than half is water). Also I had bagel toast with the most terrible bagel (or any bread) in my life. They shouldn’t be a shame serving food like that .
Place is more to catch a people who like to be in the centre of happening as has nice location-but if you’re appreciating your money highly recommended to not get anything that is made in their kitchen

Extremely disappointing experience. We were a group of 14 people having a business dinner, and the staff was simply terrible. They were openly mocking us, visibly irritated when we asked for simple things like water, and overall showed zero professionalism.
It felt like they had something against non-locals or anyone who doesn’t speak Dutch. The service was rude, sarcastic, and completely disrespectful. Honestly, the staff at a Burger King would have provided a much better experience.
A total letdown — poor service, bad attitude, and absolutely no sense of hospitality.

Ended up at Café Sarphaat by chance. Nice, laid-back atmosphere. We sat outside, a bit cramped but fine. We had already eaten but fancied a dessert. Unfortunately, my tarte tatin wasn’t warm, so I sent it back.
We had a great evening, stayed outside until late into the night and continued inside from 1:00 AM. The bartender occasionally messed up our orders, and you could see the frustration on the staff's faces.

We were here as a group of 8 people (spontaneous and without reservation). The waiters were kind and the view of the bar is amazing. We were outside on the balcony. You have plenty of drinks to choose from on the card. We didn't taste the food though, but we will keep it for the next visit. Thanks!

A lovely place to chill, celebrate or just enjoy the little moments of life. With glass walls all over, the place offers breathtaking views over the city. The interior designs helps with creating an unforgettable experience with touches of gold all over the ceiling and lights and candles to create a great mood. The food was surprisingly very good, and the staff very friendly and considerate to our needs. They have a pretty resourceful bar and their Italian bartenders are willing to create any cocktails that you could think of. They don’t take appointments so unfortunately there is always a queue to get in. My advice is to go there pretty early so you can secure your spot. Loved the experience, definitely coming back to experience sunset from there.
Service was careless, chairs uncomfortable (possibly deliberately). Food OK though some prices drifting up a bit. Burger looked peculiar. View OK though I have seen better. Don't come in the evening because there will be queues - lunchtime was quieter.

You cannot book a table, so you have to wait in line (30 min in our case). But if you are not in a hurry, it is worth to go. Great view, the cocktails are very good (my recommendation: Crocodile), the food is good (keep in mind, it is more a bar and not a restaurant!). We had sushi, Nachos, some deep fried snacks. The service is excellent, very friendly and competent staff members. Would come back for sure!
We loved this experience We went after 3 to have the bites which are like tapas. There was a package of them for £22. The scenery from the outdoor terrace was lovely of the city. We booked as it is very popular.

To start I’m American and I love Tex mex. I got the chorizo burrito with pineapple salsa. It was authentic and a large portion, I recommend the burrito. My wife got a cheese quesadilla and was very happy with her choice. We got chips that were good but a little too salty. We will go back before we leave.

Great tacos. We were lucky to be there for taco Tuesday so we managed to try multiple tacos for decent price. I would definitely recommend to go for tacos and quesadillas. Cocktails were very good too. Would love to highlight friendly and helpful service. Giulio was very accommodating and hospitable with all requests. He also was very kind and explained the concept and gave us good recommendations what to choose and try. Ambience also very lovely. The place works till late.

Servers were friendly, drinks were good but the best part was the atmosphere and the music. A lively, energetic crowd and the music was all phenomenal - top Latin hits and much more.
We went to Calle Ocho for a cocktail workshop for a bachelorette party and we had the best time. Oscar was the host and made us all feel super comfortable, matched the energy and taught us to make my all time favourite: a pornstar Martini.
After the workshop we ended up staying for dinner and had amazing tacos. It’s a perfect place to go with friends and share a bunch of different things.
I liked the food, the vibe, the service. Everything was pretty good. It's on the expensive side tho. :)
Such a nice cocktail bar with Latin America vibes on Albert Cuypstraat! Interior is not so big but cozy. Sitting even at the bar is comfortable. I found their cocktail menu design so smart that you don't gamble on taste of the cocktail that you're gonna order. You know what you get in terms of sweetness, sourness etc. Despite having such small space inside, tables and bathrooms are exceptionally clean.
Loved the drinks! They’re a little on the expensive side for the place that this is, but you can tell that the bartenders know what they’re doing, making cocktails that you wouldn’t find in other places. Also, love the chart that they give you to help with choices
Only minus it that we didn’t realise this was going to turn into a club… so there was no way to talk and we had to leave although we were hoping to get another cocktail and chat with our group more.
We highly recommend this Bar in Amsterdam! We booked a Mezcal Cocktail course directly at Calle Ocho with Thomas and had a great time!! It‘s been a private Cocktail session where we could learn a lot. The drinks are from good quality and the Nachos were great.

It was delicious, portions of tacos are great, and overall the dishes are well served, and are quite filling. I do saw that for the totopos they were using Dorito's bag nacho chips, instead of the different types of chips - blue corn, beet, and just corn chips. So the ratio was 60/40 of bag nacho chips vs homemade ones.
After reading all the positive reviews, I had a very disappointing experience here last Sunday. We waited for a long time for the waiter to seat us in a restaurant with only 4-5 occupied tables. Then, we waited a long time to order food, and finally, we waited almost an hour for our food, even though we had ordered just nachos and two burritos. And nachos that can be prepared in 5 minutes came even after the main dish. And I wish I could say the waiting time was worth it, but unfortunately, not. The burritos were bland and contained 90% rice, not even enough beans. We were really hungry after a long wait, but still managed to eat only half of it. My friend and I were really disappointed, and we will not come back.
Yummy yummy yummy, I've got love in my tummy. Had the classic ceviche, empanadas, tostada with chicken tinga and Esquites. Everything was fresh delicious and made our mouth happy.

Cantina Caliente is my go-to Latin restaurant in Amsterdam. The food is always super fresh and delicious, all the servers are kind and professional and the atmosphere is beautiful. Uff and especially their cocktails are so so good!
And now for the lunch deal they offer, it’s also such a good deal to get some quick fresh lunch.

This restaurant is located a bit outside of the city centre of Amsterdam to an international neighborhood. Original, homemade flavors in everything we tried. Everything has an extra spicy tone on it, so be prepared. The interior atmosphere, in my opinion, needs some work.
We had the tasting menu and were really super happy. The service was also very nice, checking in on us if everything was good.

I really love the green outside the building, some of the tables offer a little shade (welcomed by me). On top of a great view, the bar staff are really attentive, and seem to genuinely enjoy engaging with customers.

Went there on a quiet Tuesday evening, there were almost no one inside the bar , we finished the first glass and waited like 30 mins no body came and asked if we needed anything else, the bartender seemed busy drying the glasses or doing something else behind the bar than checking out the customers if they needed help , we were there for almost 5h but we had to stand up and go to the bar to order drink while we were sitting at the table right in front of the bartender.
I know the service isn’t the best in Amsterdam but this place is absolutely horrible with the service!

MasMais Taqueria started as a casual BBQ with friends before expanding to pop-up events across the city and finally settling in Bos en Lommer. This next-generation taqueria draws inspiration from the vibrant flavors of Mexican streets and markets. The menu features hand-pressed tortillas filled with delicious options like pulpo and carnitas tacos. With reasonable prices, it's a great spot to savor authentic Mexican cuisine.
The margarita and tacos here were great. I also loved the vibe of the place. We enjoyed happy hour margaritas on a hot summer’s day which was lovely.
On Thursday they had a special menu and we ordered the fish tacos and the mushroom ones- both really good.
The service was also great. We came back the next day because we loved it here.

An excellent place to eat with a good range of taco options to pick from. This is a very high 4 star rating.
We had the three vegetarian options: pumpkin, beans and mushroom. They were all very good. The pumpkin and mushroom had good savoury flavours and were tasty but the flavour profile was a bit muted. The stand out was the refried beans taco (which I would rate 5 stars). It was so fresh and just the perfect combination of South American fresh flavours. Definitely the taco to finish on as a refreshing palate cleanser. The tacos seem to come in two sizes, with the smaller sized dishes coming in tacos about the size of your open palm.
Note: for people who don’t like coriander, tell the staff members this when you order because some garnishes and ingredients in the tacos are heavy on the coriander.
As a plus, we were pleasantly surprised when we were told that Thursday was 5 euro margarita nights.
The staff were exceptional. They were super friendly and so eager to give us some advice on things to do during our visit to Amsterdam. Maximum stars for service.

Had a really good and fun time here with friends in a karaoke booth. It’s easy to choose songs from the touchscreen. They have a playlist with different genres. The interior is amazingly cool and funky. Feels like Asia/Tokyo by night with the neon lights and futuristic setting. The cocktails are good and pretty. I visited both locations in Utrecht and Amsterdam, same vibe.
Loved the atmpsohere. The bar was packed. Had a good vibe. The queues were a tad too long, but it was really PACKED! Did not eat, so trying not to rate that row. But love the music, drinks and interior design.

Probably the best Kareoke experience i have had. The song list was great and the level of control over the audio system was exceptional.

Definitely one of my favourite bars in Amsterdam. Staff was fantastic and offered great suggestions in terms of cocktails. The music with DJ was great too.
The house cocktails are excellent. I would recommend having the Springsteen if you like fruity cocktails and expresso Martini with the bartenders recommendation.

The service was quick, which was perfect for fueling me up after work so I could focus on studying for my master’s later that night.

Surprisingly good Mexican flavors in Amsterdam, who knew?
My barbacoa beef burrito was nice and spicy, without being TOO spicy. Fillings were all fresh and flavorful. The Baby Burrito size was more than enough for an adult; I can't imagine how impressively large the regular burrito would be!

We stumbled upon this place after the Heineken Experience, on our way to another museum. We were hungry and it seemed convenient, and honestly, the staff were very friendly with super nice service — definitely a welcoming spot.
Curious about their Mexican options, I ordered 3 tacos de carnitas. They were okay, but I wasn’t expecting authentic food either. Outside of Mexico, I’ve noticed that “Mexican food” often just means some meat or chicken wrapped in a tortilla with beans, corn, cheese, and sour cream. If you put those together, suddenly it’s called “Mexican fresh.”
The carnitas here were really far from what they should be. They were cold, which made the grease hard, and the tortilla wasn’t properly warm. On top of that, they even asked me if I wanted sour cream with them — which for carnitas is a total sin! It felt like asking an Italian to put sour cream on pasta. Definitely not close to how we prepare them back home.
The price also felt a bit high for what you actually get. In the end, it was helpful because we were hungry, but I wouldn’t really call this Mexican food.
Food is quick and delicious! Nice music and wide selection of flavors to pick from.
The food is amazing and fresh, I’m a bit sad I got there when they didn’t have chicken but overall great.

Bourbon Street is a small and intimate club hosting live jazz, blues & soul music. The venue has a rustic barn-like feel with instruments hanging from the rafters and chandeliers hanging overhead.
Incredible place as seen in video and pictures, great ambient, great youthful people, very nice draft beers, not expensive, very fun to be in.
The surrounding areas are very nice as usual in Amsterdam; in case it is too crowded you can walk somewhere close by.

High quality musicians who played their own riff on the likes of Bobby Caldwell, Bill Withers, with a Latin influence and great rapper. My mum is now a hip hop head. 8 euros to see fantastic musicians play all night long. Thanks we had a ball!

Great place with live music and drinks, place gets nicely backed with people, but thankfully bar staff works their way around and you can order a drink where you are. The band was also really good, so definitely worth the visit.
One of my favourite places in Amsterdam. Went there in two different trips, and both times I had such a blast... The musicians were insanely good, the ambient is great, people appreciate the music, the vibes all around are amazing. Plus the entrance fee is only 8 euros. 10/10 will go again every time I visit.
It is a bit overpriced (it is in the middle of the touristical area in Amsterdam) but it is a nice place to have a different type of evening. Live music, bands that are quite good at performing covers of rock and classic hits (Beatles, Stones, Creedence, Bee Gees...), and they have better beers than the usual Heineken. I had fun (until it got too crowded)
Live music was really good. The band was amazing. Well spent time to listen to some jazz and blues music. We paid €7.5 per person for the entrance at the door- without drinks. Overall experience is great and we’ll visit again.

Found this place on google maps as it was close to our hotel (a 2 min walk). Really great seating arrangement and friendly, helpful staff, especially when it came to allergies. Food and coffee was delicious and I will definitely be back soon.
Benji’s in Amsterdam is a nice little spot with a cool vibe, but honestly not really worth all the hype. I ordered a matcha and the egg brioche sandwich. The food was ok, nothing bad but also nothing that really stood out. I ended up walking 45 minutes to get there, which made it feel a bit underwhelming in the end.
That being said, if you’re in the neighborhood it’s definitely worth checking out once. The place has a nice atmosphere and it seems like a good hangout spot, especially if you live close by. But if you’re planning to travel far just for it, I’d probably say skip it ; there are plenty of other cafés in Amsterdam that are just as good if not better.

Service was poor. The bar wasn’t even half full and we had to beg someone to take our order. I actually wouldn’t blame the waitstaff, they were young and obviously trying to do their best but a little bit of training could help them along and make it a much better experience. Food was meh. Tables are way too close together and the sound of metal dragging on concrete as people take out their chairs is a nasty accompaniment.

Fries were not nice. Burrata too. Probably was old as inside it was not soft but almost like mozzarella. Lacked salt. Some tomatoes were super hard and other ones were soft. Caesar salad was promising as the sauce was nice and the salad is fresh but poached egg was very raw inside. The egg white was raw and once I cut the poached egg the egg white leaked out all over my salad making croutons and crispy chicken soaking wet. We called for someone to take an order three times. Then the waitress helped us. She was nice and even tried to help us to get a bigger table. She was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we did not ask for her name. But we found that the amount of staff working on Friday night is not enough as they physically couldn’t take all orders and serve everyone quickly. We were a huge group but we all had problems with ordering. At some point we just went to the bar to get our drinks and there was only one bartender in full bar. The vegetarian platter came missing items listed on the menu which was also frustrating. Half of the menu was not available.

This used to be a great place. Had wonderful experience here in the past. But this time they served undercooked chicken thigh, stale bread, and only told us after ordering that they had switched from their nice fries to new sweet potato fries with no option to choose.

Wheelchair accessible and toilette available. Bartender is knowledgeable with the beer options and drink options. I didn't try the food while here but I'm sure its very Dutch. Great Terrace and Solid Food on a Quiet Canal
I live nearby and find myself at Hendrix often, mostly for its excellent terrace. It gets great sunshine and is a perfect spot to enjoy a drink on the canal without the usual city chaos.
The food is decent, with a menu that offers some unique and tasty options beyond standard bar fare.
Their Koren fried chicken is very good too! Safe some space for that!
They also have a good selection of beers. It's a reliable choice in a non-touristy part of town, which is a huge plus. It's a place I'm always happy to come back to and would definitely recommend.

We had a WONDERFUL experience at Spanjer en van Twist during our brief time in Amsterdam! Highly recommend getting a table right along the canal for a 1st row seat to watch boats cruise by! We thoroughly enjoyed the beetroot tartare & the seafood risotto (would only suggest making the portion slightly bigger as a main entrée for the price). Service was superb - we even witnessed some unhappy patrons & the manager handled the situation with grace, kindness, & generosity. We would certainly return when back in Holland! Cheers!
Stumbled across this place tonight when all other places were full and I'm so glad we did. The servers were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was incredible, big shout out to the empanadas! A really chilled vibe and honestly has been one of the highlights on my time in Amsterdam. A beautiful restaurant, however a shared dinner the offer was disappointing. Most of the dishes were fresh and tasty, but it was just too little for a group of 16 people. The first dish also arrived 1,5 hour after we sat by the table, it took too long. The food itself was really tasty and well prepared. Waitresses were really kind and nice.

Very beautiful place, the food was delicious and the staff friendly. We ordered the duck and the cauliflower, which was really good. For dessert we had coffee and their new Tiramisu dessert which has a tangy taste. (Maybe orange?)
We entered the restaurant a little bit worried about some low reviews, but we were surprised by an amazing location and by amazing food. The staff were super gentle and the waiting time were not even that long. The cod tasted great (I really suggest it) as well as the other courses. The cheesecake as a dessert was nice too.
So don’t be scared by the reviews!
Went here for seafood Sunday and was not disappointed. It’s pricy but the food was tasty. Also, the service was friendly and did well explaining all the dishes. My only critique would be the smell coming from the toilets. I guess it’s a sewage problem but it’s not nice smelling it even in the restaurant.

We are pescetarian and asked for a suitable menu in advance but selection came completely vegetarian (no fish or seafood options). Maybe that’s the reason why we were not super satisfied with the dishes. They were tasty but none of them created “wow” effect. Highlight of the evening was wine pairings. Each bottle was special and we took notes of them. Given the food quality, prices are on the higher side. Service was friendly and warm.
I really enjoyed sitting on the riverbank, but the food is ambiguous. Some of the food looked strange, and some of it was very salty. The dessert was super weird too, even though I didn't take a picture of it. The service was long even when we asked to be faster.

We went on a saturday night and had the 5 course meal without wine pairing. The food was very good and the concept of the restaurant is lovely and thought through. The staff were very friendly but I reckon they were understaffed that evening. When we arrived there were only a few other guests, still we had to wait very long for the courses to arrive. After two hours we got the second of five courses while other guests who arrived and ordered after us were two or three courses ahead. However, all in all it was a good experience and the food is definitely something I would recommend others to try. The cocktails are great as well.

This week was South American. It was delicious. They bring the food to you, it’s all a surprise. It’s done very well. The outside will be nice when it re-opens with nice weather too.

Diner with colleagues during the winter and their Singapore period. We all chose a 5 courses diner and had a really nice time. The atmosphere was cozy with nice colours and lots of plants. Food had lots of savours and portions where decent but also a bit small. Service was slow but friendly and we where not in a hurry. I'll try in few month when they'll switch to another cuisine.

We had dinner here before going to a show. The food and service were great. There were nice vegetarian options. We didn't have to break the piggy bank at the end of the meal and the toilets were nice and clean. My only issue would be that the sinks to wash your hands were built for people much taller than myself.
Really lovely place to stop and have lunch. Warm welcome and good service. The toasted sandwiches were great and the huge portion of fries with sauces on top were amazing.

Very conveniently located little bar near the city centre and within walking distance of public transport. We did not have food but found the drinks to be extremely well priced and the staff were lovely, would definitely come back on a return to Amsterdam.
Nice bar to enjoy a sunny afternoon evening. There are 4-5 rows of outdoor seating that face west so comfortable in the sun. Most of the seating is outside with limited indoor seating. I ordered the bitterballan which was fine and a couple of IPAs. The IPAs were actually quite good. They also have pizza on the menu but I didn’t see anyone that had ordered it. A friendly bartender, and overall it’s a nice spot to have a couple of beers under the sun. That’s all for now.

This is one of my favorite places that we went to because it was so random! We stumbled upon this place because it was one of the only sit down places we could find in the area that served food. And boy was it good! Definitely a “locals” place because menu was all in Dutch but our server was so helpful it was no issue. Both of the people that worked there were always smiling so that was nice to see! So friendly! What he recommended to me was toast with some sort of lettuce or arugula and Burrata on top. It was so good! I also got the cappuccino. So good. They just make ‘em better in Europe. My friend had their croissant, cheese, and hard boiled egg. She said it was good too. Had a cute vibe as well! Like a bar/coffee place/cafe. They had games in the corner you could get out to play as well. Super cute! I would definitely come back here!
Great staff. The food was really good! I had the Fresh Ravioli and Mint Tea. I sat at a table inside where we could see the canals, although the have outside seats as well. I would return if it wasn't my last day in the city 🙂if I could go back I would try the Vegan Ravioli 😄
Ambiance is not bad and location is quite. By the canal and outside seating is good on a sunny day.
However, service and food was quite average. Nothing special about the food or coffee. As far as service goes, they had no way to provide me a receipt which I needed for a business expense. They kept saying “our paper is not working”. They did not show any interest in helping solve the problem and almost made it sound like it was my problem.
In hindsight, I should have put my foot down and insisted they figure this out as it’s required by law to produce a receipt.
Note that I’m not a local so possible their treatment was biased.
But keep it in mind if you choose to go 🤷🏽♂️
The sandwich we ordered was good but nothing special. I liked the old atmosphere of the place but when we were there it took too long for a staff to come take our order and get the bills. Unfortunately we didn’t feel that welcome here. Probably it’s a good place for regular customers but not for passers like us.

We ordered Al Pastor(pork-based) and Sweet Spring (sweet potato-based) and both were delicious! Each serving consists of two tacos so you can mix and match as you like. We also had nachos and guacamole as a starter and three coronas in total, all this came out at about 30€, which we thought was a good price in relation to the great quality!
The restaurant itself is laid back and comfortable, something we both appreciated. We received great service from the friendly staff and will definitely come back if we’re in the area again
Pretty good tacos, we got the special with pulled pork and it was delicious, the pastor was very good too though the meat was a little thick, but the flavours were there. They are not traditional Mexican rather mexican inspired but this is a good thing! They are very vocal about it. Take it from a Mexican, tacos are a gift to the world, owned by no-one claimed by many, tacos are the perfect vessel for yummy things, so if you have a nice tasting dish, chances are they will taste better in a taco. So guys, keep up the good work. Only thing i would have liked is some home made salsas (hint hint, contact me if you want some good recipes)
Easy to find at Van Woustraat, almost opposite to the entry to Albert Cuyp. Tacos, burritos, whatever you can think off, for carnivores but also vegetarian friendly. Price per taco on average 7-8 euros, flush it down with corona and in truly nice, welcoming atmosphere. Not possible to reserve, but you will be able to find a spot.
Food was nice and fresh. Perhaps the environment and styling is beautiful in the evening. But the plans are really sad looking and top tip for management:

Interesting Mexican food joint. The nachos and guac were ok, have had better tasting guac in Mexico. The rice and beans spring veggies was good. Everything served was a bit cold including the rice which is not usually the norm in Mexico. The Staff is very friendly and it was quick service. Overall a good experience.
Great service, good drinks and good food. There's only one vegan option and it's not the best. It puzzles me that it costs the same to the meat options (which look fantastic, and my friends confirmed that they are), but it has no special seasoning or even guacamole, like the others.
But the service and Paloma pitchers made up for it, bring your friends.

Good service though the kitchen was a little slow. Some people take that as a good sign of freshly prepared food. My companion ordered peri peri chicken which looked like a great dish. I tried to replicate his order with chicken wings and sides of corn on the cob, fries and salad. Salad was very mustardy which was a nice tart contrast with fries. Corn looked charred but had a mushy texture, so boiled prior to grillings. Wings were cooked well on the grill, but my choice of Korean sauce was too sweet. Generous portions.
So last Saturday my wife could sense I was a bit home sick and it was going to be the usual Saturday struggle of trying to find a channel showing the Bok game.
So after some conciving I managed to get a table booking at Lions Head. Heading into Amsterdam seeing the Bok jerseys already lifted my spirits.
Then arriving at the restaurant and feeling the vibe or gees as we call it just made it extra special. To be honest I went for the game and the vibe but wow was I surprised by the food.
So for drinks we had some Savanna and Hunters cider, first time in 2 years and so good. Then some Chardonnay and immediately I could tell it was a wooded chardonnay and I was transported back to Saturdays doing wine tastings in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek. And then of course we had to have some springbokkies.
Wasn't really planning on eating much but tried the droe wors, chicken wings and slap chips and was thoroughly impressed. Then did some nachos which were beyond my expectations, and then what really sealed it for me was the bobotie samoosas. Cape Malay food is part of my heritage and this just took me right back. And then some malva just to round it all off.
The service was excellent to say the least. The atmosphere as well as the food was more than just a meal and a game to us.
Though I understand there’s probably limitations…the menu could use a bit more variety since SA has so much to offer. The pap that comes with the boerewors tastes more like potatoe mash and not pap at all which is a bit disappointing. The peri/peri wings are divine and the BBQ ribs are nicely sized and menu pricing in general is quite reasonable.
I enjoyed my recent dinner at Lion’s Head. Located right next to the Albert Cuyp Market, the restaurant serves decent South African food, craft beer and wine from South Africa. The wors was delicious, however the “pap” was not really to my liking.
The food was exceptional and completely authentic South African. Boerewors and Malva Pudding especially recommended. The owner is very friendly and clearly cares deeply about giving the best and most authentic possible service. Highly recommended.

Unique method of ordering where you turn a lamp over and the light changes to red to attract the attention of the server to take your food and drink orders. Delicious fresh food. Drinks were brewed on site and the lager was lovely. Would happily return for a meal or drinks and recommend to others.
As a South African, I was so pleased by the amazing food and service! I took my team out for dinner to have them experience SA food and hospitality, and I was NOT disappointed.

Easily the best cocktail bar we’ve been to in Amsterdam. The Negroni Paradiso is the best riff on a Negroni I’ve ever had - super interesting banana/spice notes and absolutely perfectly balanced.
I’m about to ask for the recipe (amounts), let’s see if it’s a closely guarded secret or if I can make the best Negronis in the world at home soon.
I can’t recommend this cocktail bar, there are definitely better bars in the area.
What I liked about the place: lighting (starts projection on the ceiling) and page in the menu where all drinks were placed on the chart based on their sweetness and strength level.
Why 3 stars: cocktails are not good, they all seem to be watery with poor flavour. You can get drunk from them but you cant enjoy the taste. Also, the atmosphere is not very cozy

I've visited this bar several times and there's always a pleasant surprise! The menu changes sporadically, making each visit at different times a unique experience.
Lovely place, they serve amazing cocktails. The manager is a great guy who told me more about his passion: cocktails. It’s amazing that they have a new menu every month. Love the Bond theme as that was the reason for me to go visit the first time.
The lighting fixtures are outstanding and great for taking photos.
Most of the cocktails on the wine list are sweet and refreshing.

Best tacos in Amsterdam, hands down. The quesabirra and al pastor stand out for the super delicious, very intense flavor of the pork. Micheladas and margaritas provide the perfect complement to the tacos.

The only thing that could make it even better would be if the tortillas were served a little warmer and the desserts too sweet that’s why I’m not giving them 5 stars.

Some of the best, most authentic tacos we’ve had in Europe. The Al Pastor and Birria were both excellent, fresh, flavorful, and true to tacos you find in the US/Mexico. That said, €18 for three tacos feels steep, even for Amsterdam. Great food, but the prices take a bit of the flavor out of the experience.
Judging by the quesadilla I would argue the food is quite mediocre. But I've seen my friends reactions to the tacos so I know this place is better than that. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

Alba is an upmarket restaurant with a terrace specializing in imaginative small plates and natural wines. We made a reservation for 20:00 and we found out that we will be late for about 15 -20 minures. We called the restaurant and they changed the reservation hour to 20:30.

The food was tasty, espicially the first dish and the dessert. All was prepated with good style, food was looking fresh and well.

I was really excited to try this place and was left quite disappointed. The food was ok but I would not come back. The tastes were not special enough and a few dishes had too much pepper. We chose for the 3 course menu with the wine pairing. Some of the wines were great and others not too balanced with the food.
Unfortunately we had some hair in one of the dishes which is something that can always happen but at a place like this i expect a bit more than just an apology. Also little mishaps like which wine goes with which dish just don't make me wanna go back here unfortunately. Other than that the service was friendly but not really personal.
Fantastic experience at Alba, the service was excellent and the food well worth it. We got the set 3 course menus and supplemented with an extra dish. The ravioli mushroom sauce was a little too salty. The trout was very nicely cooked but unfortunately the skin was chewy.
It’s a very nice natural wine restaurant with very tasty food. You can either choose single dish, or can take the 3-course option.
I went for the 3 course option, and it was definitely worth it. All 3 was very delicious and different than wha you can find anywhere else.
We had the orange wine, (I don’t remember its exact name but it was from Puglia) it was a smooth natural wine, if you don’t prefer the pungent taste of natural wines, this one is for you.
Atmosphere is very cosy, they have a nice terrace in front, although it’s next to the street, it’s still calm and quiet.
All in all, definitely worth a try.

Alba is a natural wine restaurant that I can't recommend highly enough. From the moment we walked in, I was struck by the cozy and inviting atmosphere, with a welcoming vibe which can be a rare thing when you live in Amsterdam.
The minimalist menu was filled with tempting food options, we opted for the 3 course menu.
The wine card on the other hand was very extensive.
Throughout the dinner, the service was very friendly and attentive. It was clear that they truly care about providing a great dining experience.
Overall, I can't say enough positive things about Alba. If you're looking for a natural wine restaurant with fantastic food, great atmosphere, and friendly service, this is definitely the place to go. I can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing wines!

Came by a Sunday afternoon as I was in the neighbourhood and ordered the breakfast tacos and the birria tacos. They were incredibly tasty, great ingredients and cooked to perfection. These are now my favorite tacos in Amsterdam. Portions are good, the place is small but cozy with a view of the cooking area. Highly recommend it

We live in the neighborhood and this place is perfect; casual yet delicious.
We had dinner and the mainly plant based dishes were great. The little gem salad was lovely and crisp, great for a warm spring evening. The rainbow carrots and pearl couscous has a delicious fennel and carrot sauce. The whole roasted aubergine was also great. I'm sure their other menu items are just as delicious.
We topped it all with dessert, decadent meringue parfait with the poached pears and the rhubarb crumble.
We enjoyed the place, the service, and the food. It made the evening such an enjoyment.
This place is great. We walked up and there was such a nice, chill atmosphere with families, friends and neighbours all sitting outside and enjoying the sunset. The food is vegetarian, but every dish was beautiful, well crafted and filling. We couldn't decide which dish we liked more out of roasted aubergine, rainbow carrots, the olives were amazing, and rhubarb crumble or poached pear with merengue. All of them were incredible. The owner was lovely as well. Great addition to the neighbourhood.

We were super excited when we saw a new place (with a terrace!) opening up in the neighbourhood and finally stopped by for dinner yesterday. We ordered bitterballen, a couple of starters and mains and everything was incredible. It was all vegetarian but even the die-hard meat lovers in our group were completely satisfied.
Can’t wait to come back to try the rest of the menu!

Amazing place to have lunch and some drinks. We sat on the terrace and made a puzzel and the people there were so lovely. Definitely gonna come back here for dinner some time soon.
