Tucked away in a picturesque alley in the heart of Amsterdam, De Laatste Kruimel, which translates to "The Last Crumb" in Dutch, is a popular bakery and lunch spot. The cozy cafe attracts crowds during lunchtime with its delectable offerings such as freshly baked bread, pastries, and an array of delicious sandwiches.
A warm and welcoming café-restaurant where you instantly sense the owners’ love and passion in every detail. They offer plenty of treats and desserts that are mouthwatering and flavorful, a delight both to the eyes and the palate. It truly feels like you’re enjoying the very best homemade sweets. Highly recommended!

Super cosy spot in central Amsterdam without being too crowded in the streets surrounding. Clearly a popular spot since it was so crowded inside though! All of the cakes looked delicious (lots of vegan and gluten free options). We went for a savoury treat this time and the portions!! HUGE! Will definitely be back to try the sweets!

This beautiful little bakery makes the most amazing looking and tasting baked good! The owner and her team efficiently handle the store and it's many many walk in customers. And the food is truly heavenly! Every 10 minutes you can watch a new tray of delicious baked goods being taken across from the kitchen to the display window 🙂

A magical place! You’d need to spend a whole week in Amsterdam just to try everything here. The pistachio cream aragostine and the cinnamon buns are an absolute must! Thank you for such a cozy and atmospheric café.

The balcony view is dreamy and the environment and design are very beautiful. Warm and friendly. Excellent and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Good quality. I will definitely go again and highly recommend it.

All their products are amazing. You can easily buy the products we tried. The soup of the day was eggplant soup. It may look a bit strange, but it tasted delicious. The service might be a bit slow, but we go there to be calm and relaxed. So it was a very nice experience for us.

Truly amazing place. Fairly priced, beautiful old cottage aesthetic. Food was very flavorful and well seasoned. Staff is very friendly! Amazing freshly baked pastries and cakes. Highly recommended!!

AMAZING!! I’m so happy I found this place, we ended up coming back twice! This little place is small on the inside, but they do have an upstairs as well. The windows are lined with fresh pastries and baked goods. Delish!! They have a tiny patio with 3 tables that is right over the canal! Luckily we got to sit there and people watch, while enjoying our breakfast. Coffees were amazing. Baked goods, so fresh and delicious. We ended up eating some sandwich’s as well, tuna melt was excellent. The have homemade jams which we took some home with us! Overall this place was a perfect breakfast/lunch spot

Nestled within Amsterdam's oldest church, Oude Kerk, De Koffieschenkerij offers a serene escape from the bustling Red Light District. The cafe's compact wood-lined interior and garden terrace provide a peaceful retreat amidst the city's chaos. Serving light lunches, fresh coffee, and homemade cakes, including a delectable apple pie with whipped cream, this hidden gem exudes tranquility in an otherwise lively neighborhood.
4.5/5 I ordered the apple pie, and it was pretty great. The apples were really soft and full of apple aroma. But the crust tasted too sweet and was not the short and crispy style. Also, the pie was not hot enough. It still has room to improve. Although the pie was good, the price was not cheap. The pie plus the cream was 7 euros, but it was a nice place to enjoy your time.
Syixx F — Google review
We specifically went to visit this place because it was no1 on TripAdviser and it was awesome. The staff were super friendly, the coffee was super smooth (soft, sweet kind of roast) and a great selection of cakes to choose from ☕️ We sat outside in the courtyard which felt nice and secluded - like a secret garden. Thank you to the staff who served us. We really enjoyed it and would go back. Highly recommend 👍
Esther O — Google review
I visited De Koffieschenkerij, a cozy café right next to De Oude Kerk (The Old Church), about a 7–10 minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. The location is very charming - there’s a lovely outdoor garden with a pear tree, and inside it’s cozy with soft lighting and nice textures. The apple pie (€6.20) really lives up to its reputation - delicious and the cappuccino (€4.80 for a large) was smooth and tasty, though the size felt small for the price. Cons: Ordering system: Everything runs through their app/QR code, even if you’re dining in. The app said “take away,” but I was told to order through it for dining in as well. Payment: They don’t take cash (at least at the time of my visit). I had to pay via Apple Pay in CAD, which came to about 22.10 CAD. Good to check with them about euro payments if you prefer cash. Service: The staff didn’t feel very engaged. While polite, the warmth and energy were missing, and I was served my coffee and pie in takeaway containers even though I asked to sit inside. It made me feel a bit out of place. Overall: On my solo travel in this stunning city, sitting down for my first coffee and pie, it felt a bit detached. The apple pie was smooth, delicious, and a good size, and the cappuccino was enjoyable, though the “large” felt a bit small. Digital ordering is convenient, but being served in takeaway containers inside took away from the warmth of my first experience, and I hope you guys have a better experience. :)
Milangic — Google review
One of the most nostalgic cafes in Amsterdam. In general I don’t like the surrounding area but this cafe will make sure to make it cozy, comfortable and simply gezellig. Their user experience in the app is on point. Very easy to order. The cafes and sweets are super delicious. And the portions are satisfying. Staff are helpful

Hands-down my favorite place in Amsterdam since I moved here 4 years ago! I’ve been coming lots of times & the sweets are incredible, paired with great coffee and cozy atmosphere. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. Hidden gem in the middle of the city and would highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick stop during shopping or just to catch up with friends over coffee :)

We went to De Koffieschenkerij for an afternoon snack and it was delicious! We tried multiple deserts and all of them are great. My favourite was the apple pie. The drinks are also good and there’s the option of swapping the milk for oat milk. The request is made through the phone and the service is very fast. Thank you for the experience!

Such a charming little café in the city centre. The girls who work here are incredibly sweet and welcoming. It’s a wonderfully peaceful spot, and we truly enjoyed both the atmosphere and our breakfast!!

A calm and charming spot by the canal in Amsterdam perfect for a relaxing coffee break. Loved the peaceful vibe, delicious cake, and the sound of church bells in the garden. A hidden gem, highly recommended

Cafe
Restaurant
Café de Jaren is a charming former bank turned into a bright and airy café located on the picturesque Amstel river in Amsterdam. It's a favorite among locals for its Instagram-worthy ambiance and diverse menu that caters to both meat lovers and vegetarians. The café offers ample seating options indoors with large windows, as well as on two outdoor terraces, including one directly by the Amstel where patrons can watch boats go by.
We have a layover in Amsterdam so we decided to check out the beautiful canals in Amsterdam.. He stumbled across this cute café, called Café de Jaren. Important to know about Amsterdam is that they do not stay up late so if you’re planning on eating, be sure you have your food ordered before 9 PM. We got here at 9:23 in the snack menu is still open and we could still order some amazing beer. We had the pleasure of Anna as our server. She gave us suggestions on the local fair that is popular here in this area. That included deep fried meatballs, cheese, sticks, and hummus. They’re the full menu is not available to us because it was so late, the snack menu was open until closing. She was very kind and visited us often enough for anything we needed. Just so you know, they serve french fries with mayonnaise here. So if you need ketchup, you gotta ask for it. Our tea was literally on the water. And we got the joy of seeing the twilight evening hours on the Amsterdam canals, romantic boats voted by us. It was truly a memorable experience when will not forget. Take a look at this spot next time you’re here. Walk through the front but walk all the way to the back. That’s where the canal is and all the seating by the water.
T C — Google review
A great spot for breakfast (never went for lunch or dinner) with a beautiful view and a very interesting interior design. The coffee is among the best in Amsterdam, which makes it worth the visit on its own. The food isn’t particularly cheap, but it is relatively well executed and enjoyable. Overall, the place is definitely worth it if you’re looking for a nice breakfast experience and a good coffee.
Mathieu L — Google review
This place always got my attention from outside with it’s amazing terrace on the water. Finally had the time to go in and was amazed by it. It’s a very nice place. You can work or relax or meet with your friends. The staff is so friendly and nice. We drank cappuccino and were delicious.
Suzan S — Google review
A unique, spacious, and unforgettable café with high-ceilinged halls and a charming terrace overlooking the river. The café is thoughtfully designed, with every corner showcasing a different charm, and the food is served with great taste and style.
Persico — Google review
My favorite spot in Amsterdam. The food is lovely, the service is great! The terrace is lovely specially when it’s sunny and the best part is the view on the canal. It can get busy so you may need to queue a bit.
Nicole V — Google review
A mixed experience. Pros ✅: A nice big space/venue, with lots of light and pleasant canal views, a good buzz to it with lots of energy and hubbub. The cake was delicious. Cons ❌: The service was abysmal. We were sat for 20 minutes before someone came and took our order, we tried flagging down waiters dozens of times but they were too few and not very attentive. We then had to wait another 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and when they did the coffee was not hot. The decaf coffee was awfully bad, watery, and weak. The latte that was made with it was white not brown and tasted like plain milk, when I flagged this to staff they said that’s normal ‘because it’s decaf’. No, decaf coffee is not supposed to be any weaker or paler than its caffeinated counterpart, you’re serving terrible quality decaf coffee in that instance. The baked eggs were also not good; they were rather bland and tasteless (sadly like a lot of food in the Netherlands). They tasted of basically nothing, it seemed to have no herbs or spices or even pepper, the cheese was also bland. It really needs some stronger cheese, some paprika, some oregano or tarragon or something anything to give it some flavour. They were also very dry as weirdly they didn’t have any sort of béchamel or hollandaise sauce which would be normal for this sort of dish, and the eggs themselves were overcooked. The WiFi also didn’t work. All-in-all we felt this place had a lot of potential, but was let down by the bad coffee the bland food and the poor/slow service from staff.
Jake H — Google review
The coffee was perfect! The atmosphere is lovely, with a beautiful view right on the Amsterdam canal front. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy the city. Highly recommend!

we loved the food, service, and atmosphere. it’s such a nice place to sit and very close to the canals. i love the high ceilings. and the food is deceptively good. we actually came again since we liked it so much!

Nestled in the vibrant Jordaan district of Amsterdam, Winkel 43 is a charming café that has become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike. This cozy establishment buzzes with life from morning until night, offering an inviting atmosphere complemented by a delightful menu featuring hearty European snacks, lunches, and dinners. However, it’s the legendary Dutch apple pie that truly steals the show!
After spending 10 days in Europe, this was the best meal we had on the entire trip!! This is my favorite restaurant in Europe (so far)! We are vegetarians, and my wife and I found both of our dishes to be delicious! We also really enjoyed the pie, and that is a huge compliment coming from my wife, who doesn’t it like pie in general but said this was the best pie she had ever had! I can’t wait to eat here again!
Jacob M — Google review
Amazing apple pie served right from the oven. Along with a delicious double espresso or cappuccino, among other available beverages. If you love pie just have to come this cute little place. Will definitely come again in the near future.
Hanif M — Google review
Any travel guide in Amsterdam will tell you to stop by Winkel for their famous apple pie, and it’s absolutely worth it. I’m not even an apple pie fan, but this one was really, really good. The crust, the filling, everything was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Yes, there’s a long line, but they run the place like a well-oiled machine. The line moves quickly, the pies are constantly coming out fresh, and the drinks are made in no time. If you get lucky and snag a seat outside, you can enjoy your dessert while people watching. Inside seating is nice too, especially by the window, though the space itself isn’t particularly special. Still, it’s a must-try spot in Amsterdam. Definitely worth the stop for a slice of their iconic apple pie.
Nancy A — Google review
Great place to taste apple pie… queues can get long but they have outdoor seating too! The slices are quite big so sharing between 2 would work! Highly recommended!
Jaina V — Google review
Came because of the hype and a recommendation from a local friend of ours and this place’s apple pie reputation is very well deserved. We came at a good time so we were seated right away (2 people). Service was a bit slow because of the amount of people so it’s understandable. The pie itself was fantastic. No words to describe how good it was, so I rate it 10/10 for ruining apple pies for me because I don’t think I can get it anywhere else that’s this good. The coffee was good as well!
Clover T — Google review
Amsterdam locals make sure you put this shop on your to-do list when in Amsterdam. It’s open until 2am and has amazing apple cake. You MUST get it with whipped cream and a hot drink (Irish coffee or hot chocolate preferred). There’s seating inside with warm cosy seating and a bathroom downstairs. Card and cash accepted. Highly recommend

A must-stop spot in Amsterdam: Winkel, famous for their legendary apple pie — and it’s absolutely worth it. We also tried the smoked salmon and potato leek soup — both delicious and comforting. Definitely a must-visit! 🍎🥧🇳🇱
MIKE N — Google review
Very busy, but got a seat outside on a Friday afternoon. The apple pie was delicious- warm & freshly made, and not too sweet or buttery, with the optional added bit of sweetness with the whipped cream. Could've easily eaten another slice! Great spot for people watching as well. Definitely need to hire more staff though - there were only two servers managing everything outside (taking orders, clearing up, delivering the food/drink to both eat-in and takeaway customers). They were calmly efficient, but still clearly overwhelmed from being so understaffed. Overall worth the hype, as it's a fun bustling intersection with an upbeat atmosphere. Don't know if it's legitimately the best apple pie in all of Amsterdam, but it still tastes delicious and the location feels very cozy & communal :)

Cannibale Royale has become a popular choice in Amsterdam, with five locations across the city. The original Handboogstraat location offers well-cooked beef dishes like the 200g bavette and the 300g flat iron. However, some diners wish that the meat was seasoned before cooking for better flavor.
Such a great place! The ONLY place we found in the area where they still were serving food past 11pm (23:00). Highly recommend! Mark it as there is NO place that serves food that late! And everything was delicious (a gem for a meat lovers)! 10/10! There was a bit of a delay with drinks and food for everybody as they were SO busy (and it’s understandable regarding the delay). The place was packed at midnight. Interesting eclectic interior, they played cool music too. Loved everything about this restaurant. A lot of locals and it is always a sign i am looking for when traveling ;) our server Ivo was so busy and still was friendly, professional and attentive! Will be back for sure when in Amsterdam next time. I also liked that they have suggestions for beer/wine in the menu next to a position you choose. Great cocktail menu too.
Anastasiya Z — Google review
This restaurant is definitely easy to miss—hidden in plain sight—but once you find it, it has a quirky charm and a cozy, intimate vibe that sets it apart. We ordered the ribs, which were tender and had a subtle, smoky flavor—not overpowering, which I actually liked. That said, the portion size was a letdown. Both of our plates came out noticeably smaller than what’s pictured online… and even smaller than what the table next to us received. A little consistency and quality control would go a long way here. We also tried the lobster tail. While nicely cooked, it felt underwhelming for the price. The menu says 140g, but it looked and felt like less—hard to say, but it didn’t quite meet expectations. They accept split bills if you come with friends. Overall, there’s potential here. The food tastes good, the ambiance is charming, but they need to work on delivering what’s promised—especially when it comes to portions.
Leah Z — Google review
We had the caesar chicken sandwich and the cheese steak sandwich, and both were very good. The chicken sandwich had a really nice sauce, and the cheese steak was tasty, but it could have had a bit more meat. Portions of fries are quite large; one portion would have been more than enough for the two of us. The cheesecake was okay, but we didn’t enjoy the base. Service was friendly, and the decor is different and interesting. I would come back for dinner for sure.
Leila — Google review
All around an awesome stop. I have the classic burger and it had so much flavor. It was a great piece of meat. The staff was super kind and the bar tender was awesome. He was very go lucky and outgoing to everyone. The atmosphere of the place is pretty chill/social. Darker with music playing. Awesome decor with vintage style pictures all over the wall. Definitely worth a stop
Ryan R — Google review
Cauliflower steak was surprisingly good for me as a non vegetarian, steak was tender with good flavour (medium rare shown in the picture) and reasonable price in Amsterdam but lack of crust. Good environment but slightly packful and noisy, service I give 4/5 because they broke a glass in front of me luckily no one get hurt. Overall, good food and dining experience.
Heng C — Google review
A very funky spot inside, and a kind of “funky” space outside. Inside very eclectic, outside, unfortunately there is a bunch of say 8-10 overflowing garbage bins immediately across from the outside dining tables, not exactly ideal for eating. We chose to eat inside. The food was very good, the service was spotty, the environment was a treat for the senses.
Gordon M — Google review
We had an incredible experience at Cannibale Royale Handboogstraat. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We had booked a couple of months in advance to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and the communication with the staff via email beforehand was excellent. The restaurant itself is very cozy and atmospheric, perfect for a special occasion. As for the food—it was absolutely phenomenal. We tried the short ribs, Cannibale Royale’s favorite ribs, the tomahawk steak, and the chicken wings. Every single dish was perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and of superb quality. It’s hard to describe just how delicious everything was—you really have to experience it for yourself. Highly recommended and truly a must-visit in Amsterdam!

We got the mixed grill and guess what? It was mixed. Rubs were dry. Shoulder was juicy. Sausage was meh. Chicken was ok. Service was attentive. Place is a bit dark but works for hangover days

Exceptionally tasty candies! Especially I was impressed by their raspberry marzipan. Coffee is also good. Staff is pleasant and friendly. There are also beautiful cakes, but I didn’t try them

I visited a chocolate shop in downtown Amsterdam and had such a great experience. The chocolates were absolutely amazing in taste, and the atmosphere of the shop was warm and inviting. The lady who helped me was so kind and patiently showed me all the different chocolates. A lovely experience highly recommended!

Such a charming place, perfect for cake and a drink. The cakes we had were delicious and the hot chocolate is amazing, you can taste the quality of the ingredients. The ladies who work there are so nice!

The atmosphere is incredibly pleasant, but the desserts are too sweet for my taste. I wanted to try the chocolate and unfortunately they’re not available to give a small piece, I didn't want to risk eating too much of sweet again...

All the cake slices are 7.50 EUR each! Great balance of price and quality. This was our third time visiting the place for their princess cake.

I had a really great time there. Even though I was full, I finished everything I ordered. It was not too sweet🥰 So I loved them. Especially the almond bottom part of taart was so nice. (I usually don't eat the part). The atmosphere was really cozy. I highly recommend that have a nice chill time there.

The Papeneiland Café is a charming traditional cafe located on the corner of Prinsengracht and Brouwersgracht in Amsterdam. Established in 1642, this cozy "bruine kroeg" offers a picturesque canalside setting with outdoor seating. The wooden interior, adorned with Delft blue tiles, has retained its historic charm over the centuries. The café's rich history includes serving as an entryway to a clandestine Catholic church during the Reformation era.
A 400-Year-Old Gem with the BEST Apple Pie! This "brown café" is a must-visit spot in Amsterdam. Said to be the oldest pub on the canal since 1642, stepping inside is like stepping back in time. It's a historically significant place, known for its truly authentic atmosphere and traditional Dutch fare. We were lucky enough to grab a corner table on the canalside with great outdoor seating, perfect for watching the continuous bicycle traffic—a classic Amsterdam experience! The food was the real highlight. We paired a local favorite, bitterballen, with a celebratory 750 Anniversary beer. But the real star was the Dutch apple pie; it was, hands down, the BEST I have ever had! We loved it so much we took a slice to go. The interior is just as charming, decorated with beautiful Delft blue pottery and anchored by a beautifully antique bar. It’s frequented by a fantastic local crowd. Don't miss this piece of history!

The best apple pie in Amsterdam! The café is best known for its homemade apple pie, perfectly paired with a rich coffee — a true local experience. Highly recommended!

A Timeless Amsterdam Treasure! I stumbled upon this cozy canalside café and it instantly became one of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. The place has that authentic “brown café” charm, warm, welcoming, and full of character. Sitting by the canal, watching the endless flow of bikes go by, felt like being part of the city’s rhythm itself. But the highlight? The Dutch apple pie! Easily the best I’ve ever had in my life! Perfectly spiced, with a buttery crust and just the right amount of sweetness. I’m still thinking about it! The staff were friendly, the atmosphere truly local, and the history in every corner adds so much soul to the experience. If you visit Amsterdam, this café is a must. I’ll definitely come back for another slice!

Super cosy bar/cafe with an amazing history like stepping back in time. Great in the evening as it’s candlelit. Incredible apple pie, the best I have ever had. Really reasonable price, friendly attentive service. 100% recommend

The café has a charming, historic feel, with limited seating and tasteful wall decorations. We took an empty table upstairs, where we enjoyed their classic apple pie: thick, rich, and one of the best I’ve had in the Netherlands, while watching the flow of people passing by downstairs. The coffee was elegant and well-crafted, matching perfectly with the cozy atmosphere. If only they had air conditioning, it would be absolutely perfect 🤩
CY Z — Google review
The greatest little gem, recommended by a local. Our best meal in Amsterdam! The apple pie and whip cream as well as the bitterbollen was excellent. Worth a stop for anyone visiting Amsterdam.
Tanya B — Google review
I enjoyed a latte with almond milk here while taking in the charming street views — easily one of the best coffees I’ve had in Amsterdam. They’re famous for their peach cobbler pie à la mode, and it’s well worth trying. Outdoor seating adds to the experience, though space along the street is limited, so snag a chair if you can.

Had a delightful visit in a charming, historic setting steeped in character and warmth. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with classic décor that exuded timeless charm. The food and drinks were delightful—well prepared, flavorful, and presented thoughtfully. Service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience feel personalized and relaxed. A lovely spot offering a memorable blend of tradition, comfort, and excellent hospitality.

Whether you choose to dine inside the cozy café or on the terrace, you can indulge in an array of sweet and savory treats that are completely free from animal products.
One of my absolute favorite vegan spots in Amsterdam! The entire menu is fantastic, and so is their Afternoon Tea. My go-to favorites are the lemongrass chai latte, the carrot cake, the scones, and the frittata sandwich. I even ordered the carrot cake for my son’s 1st birthday, and everyone loved it! The team is always warm, friendly, and welcoming. I don’t think there will ever be enough words to fully describe how special this place is — highly recommend!

One of the best cafes I've been in Amsterdam. The sandwiches, especially the PLT, were fantastic and the Italian carrot cake is one of the best I've had in a long time. I will definitely come back someday for the afternoon tea.

Absolutely fantastic service, the chai latte was incredible and the chocolate cake was to die for. My sister had the apple and almond cake and really enjoyed hers as well. We visited after a walk through the park from Molenwerf and it was just wonderful. Definitely would visit Amsterdam again just to have their latte and cake again.

The coffee and food was nice, but maybe the day we were there one of employees had a bad day… It made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than customers. Our server was cold and not smiling, When I tried to start a small talk (think of conversations like where are from, how long do you live in Amsterdam etc (I am not Dutch myself)) it only made it worse. I worked with customers myself, so I used to smile to everyone and having a small conversation. For the rest is cozy cafe with delicious vegan food but I am afraid I won’t be willing to come back, which is the shame…

Awesome experience, nice and cozy interior with great food and even greater Cappuccino! The service was impeccable and we would gladly visit again (which we did during our vac). The fritata and PLT get a straight 10/10 from me. It's all vegan, too!

The Pantry is a cozy restaurant that offers a quintessentially Dutch dining experience. The interior resembles a traditional Dutch home, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu features hearty and comforting dishes such as stamppot and hutspot, which are traditional mashed vegetable dishes served with smoked sausage or meatballs. The portions are generous, and the focus is on traditional Dutch cuisine.
The Pantry was such a good eating experience! It was my first time trying Dutch food. I ordered the Menu 2 that included the goat cheese croquettes, the oven dish with cauliflower, ground beef, lots of old Amsterdam cheese and mashed potatoes and poffertjes that are like mini pancakes (my favorite). The service was amazing, and even though we had a +40 min wait to go inside the turnover was pretty fast so we just had to wait for like 30 min. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere to eat and I’m not surprised it was full throughout the whole time we were there.

Service was friendly. Make sure you make reservations because walk in queue will have an hour wait. We ordered the set meal and happy that they have variety of sets. Generally, we enjoyed the meal. But the fish did not do for me. I find it too bland. The fish was cooked perfectly though. Desserts was good.

Main oven was down when we visited and they were serving appetizers and small plates of some of the main dishes - which was perfect for us as we could then sample more dishes with smaller portions. Mashed potatoes with sauerkrauts, mashed potatoes with carrots and onions, beef croquettes, beef stew, meatball and smoked sausage. Food was amazing, flavorful and well balanced. So good And to top off, service was excellent! Definitely worth another visit!

Warm & friendly service; a beautifully designed, cozy atmosphere, and most of all, delicious Dutch dishes. The vegetarian bitterballen was excellent - crispy on the outside without being oily, with great texture & flavour on the inside. Also really enjoyed the combination mashed potatoes to try the different flavours (kale, carrot, & cauliflower) that were each unique. Bonus that everything was extremely reasonably priced. Very highly recommend for the loveliest experience of traditional Dutch cuisine & hospitality!

Great place to try dutch food: the staff are very friendly, it’s well located, and the decor is very characteristic. Although I didn’t love the food (it’s not my personal taste), it was great to try!! My favorite dish was the pea soup. It’s small and there are a lot of people, we waited a bit, but nothing serious 😁

Review An excellent establishment in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, setting itself apart with an identity all of its own based on quality and taste; an enviable bedrock for any modern cafe. Greenwoods menu is well considered, offering something for everyone. What you can be sure of is the quality of any dish you order will be at a high level. I can’t say that very often at all. Consistency is a superpower here, with everything I tried being outstanding. The chicken burger was my personal highlight amidst an entire reel of excellence. It was succulent, flavoursome, and relied upon balance in a way you don’t find for a cafe staple normally. It was one of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. Massive statement, but completely verifiable; just come give it a try. The lava cake was decadent and rich, the pancakes made my heart sing. I’ll stop now because I could otherwise go on forever. Great venue. Great service. Utterly outstanding food. Nice work, Greenwoods. You made a fan out of this Aussie traveller.

This is a super cute little cafe! The coffee was wonderful! The eggs Benedict was a bit odd as it wasn't served on an English muffin, but the hash browns were some of the best that I've ever had! It was definitely on the pricey side, but I would still go back for sure! Our server was really nice and she did a good job.

Nice restaurant. Good menu selection Large portions Seem a little understaffed for the amount of customers Would be a good idea to have bottles of water, the tapwater available on the tables so that you don’t have to wait for the staff to bring refills unfortunately the breakfast music was not breakfast music. It was more too upbeat loud and more like lunch Music. Overall, nice restaurant ~> If you like my review please press follow on my google profile. Argentinian restaurant
If you're a steak enthusiast visiting Amsterdam, CAU Steak Restaurant is a must-visit destination. Nestled conveniently near Dam Square, this stylish eatery specializes in charcoal-grilled steaks sourced from grass-fed Argentine cattle. The atmosphere is sleek and inviting, with the added charm of a sidewalk terrace for al fresco dining. Patrons rave about the quality of the meat, particularly the Lomito cut, which is consistently cooked to perfection.
Location: Right in the heart of the town centre, surrounded by the hustle and bustle, yet still so welcoming. None of that loud, aggressive street-side service — just calm, friendly vibes from the moment we arrived. Service: The waiters were lovely — genuinely helpful, warm, and full of great recommendations (which turned out to be spot on). Ambience: Trendy beats playing softly in the background, creating the perfect chilled lunch atmosphere. Loved it. Food: The open kitchen is always a good sign — nothing to hide! The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the goat’s cheese salad was fresh and delicious. My partner wanted the steak again the next day, but I convinced him to branch out — it was that good. If you’re in the centre, definitely add this place to your itinerary. We’ll be back!

We arrived late at Schiphol Airport from Oslo and were looking for the best steak restaurant in Amsterdam. The place that was recommended was 'CAU Steak Restaurant.' As expected from its popularity, the restaurant was crowded. Luckily, there were seats available. We ordered the Superfood Salad, which was excellent—it was made with healthy vegetables and grains and tasted great. The main dishes, the steak and the fillet, were both fantastic and absolutely delicious. Although it was noisy due to the number of customers, we were still able to have a conversation. However, the side dish, the fried onions, were unfortunately tough and lacking in flavor, which was disappointing. The service was good, but the sequencing of the dishes was a bit disappointing. The main course arrived before the salad, instead of the correct order.

Great steak restaurant. Indoor & outdoor seating. Welcomed immediately and shown to a window table. Waiter was genuinely very friendly and helpful. We chose the large sharing platter which was HUGE! Good atmosphere and no rush to get the table back. Highly recommend.

Bakers & Roasters is a vibrant and contemporary cafe known for its delectable brunch offerings, freshly baked goods, and specialty coffee. This popular spot in de Pijp infuses Kiwi and Brazilian influences into their menu, featuring dishes like eggs benny, New Zealand-style full English breakfast, Navajo eggs, and huevos rancheros.
The food was delicious and it's the best coffee I've had in this neighbourhood! I don't eat beef or pork, so they swapped the pork in my eggs Benedict with extra avocado. The ingredients were fresh, the flavours were amazing and the flavour pairings from the Brazilian and Kiwi cultures were incredible. One of my favourites! The staff was super nice. Even though they're reservation system was temporarily down, and I had to wait for 45 minutes before I could find a table, the staff was super nice and offered me a spot to relax in the waiting area. They also helped me with my luggage. Great experience in general, totally recommend it for brunches and breakfasts!

Open early on Sundays- worth getting up for! Excellent varied menu. We had florentine and BR special. Both very well executed. Super garlicky spinach and yummy think bread. Friendly efficient service.
Jason L — Google review
Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. The dishes lacked flavor, presentation, and overall quality — which was very unexpected. The bread was cut too thick and had no taste, it wasn’t toasted or spread with butter. Adding simple touches such as garlic butter, cheese sauce, or other flavor elements could make a big difference. All three dishes we ordered were completely bland. These days, it’s easy to find inspiration online for improving flavor and presentation, and I believe there is definitely room for improvement.
Simona S — Google review
We had a tasty brunch here on a Sunday morning. My only wish was that the wait list system worked because I tried to join the wait list as we were walking there and it wasn't working... Of course we arrived and the place was full so we could only add ourselves once we got there. This meant that we could only get bar seats which was a bit tight for space. Aside from the seating situation the food itself was great. We got the Navajo Eggs and the Huevos Rancheros. Both were delicious and had a good balance of fresh ingredients with savoury elements.

Thank you for welcoming us, and best wishes from Quebec, Canada ❤️

The food here was absolutely amazing—one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The quality was exceptional, it’s easily one of the top places we’ve visited. What really stood out was the ambience. This was our second Michelin restaurant, and the difference was obvious right from the start. Unlike some Michelin spots that can feel a bit formal or intimidating, this one has a more laid-back, approachable atmosphere. Which makes it perfect for anyone who wants a high-quality Michelin-starred meal without the pressure of an overly upscale environment. Highly recommend—we’ll definitely be back!
Nayeli V — Google review
We had reserved a table for 5:45 pm, and the dining room was completely empty. However, we were seated by Amber in the least favorable spot, right by the entrance on high stools. After explaining that one of us had food poisoning and would not be comfortable sitting on bar stools, we were reluctantly moved to a regular chair. When our time was up (two hours later), we were asked to move to the bar, even though there were still plenty of free tables and no new guests had arrived. As I understand it, among the entirely white clientele of the restaurant, we were the only non-white guests, and it felt like they were trying to push us aside the whole time. Food was good, waiters were helpful, but these moments left a negative aftertaste from the dinner. Very unfortunate.

Ron Gastrobar was a truly interesting experience. For a Michelin-starred restaurant, it perfectly combines hospitality, taste, and 'fair' prices. For two and a half hours, we felt a little taste of perfection. The staff was very kind, paying attention to every detail from the moment we entered until we left, ensuring everything was elegant, discreet, and well-organized. We also had the chance to try some unique cocktails, with some out-of-the-box combinations, but very well-balanced. I warmly recommend Ron Gastrobar for any special occasion. This seafood restaurant is small, but the fresh herring they serve is some of the best in Amsterdam. They also have a variety of other seafood dishes, so it's worth checking out if you're in the city. The only downside to Rob Wigboldus Fishmonger is that it's not open late into the night like many other places in Amsterdam are.
Stumbled upon this hidden gem by accident, and it was exactly what I needed after too much fried food. The two friendly guys running the place (maybe one is Rob Wigboldus?) served amazing seafood. The salt-brined herring was so good I returned for more—the mackerel was fresh and generous, the smoked salmon mildly smoky and sweet, and the smoked eel was incredibly meaty and satisfying. This spot truly makes me want to return and dive deeper into Dutch culture. €5 for the herring and €8 for a plate with 3. Very reasonable price in such a busy area. Highly recommend!

Fried cod was delicious too. We will come back next trip as well. It’s our tradition now. Please support this small business ☺️ 2023. Delicious and fresh. We tied herring sandwich, smoked eel, crab salad, fried cod, everything was super tasty! Totally will eat here again next time I’m in Amsterdam! Some people complain that cod fish is microwaved, but it is freshly cooked the same day (big amount), it’s very tender. The owner is friendly and kind. What a great little place to go. The food is so fresh @ delicious. Good value for money. Staff are very friendly & helpful

They use to have better bread. I think they use some kind of half "volkoren" "whole wheat bread. Sandwiches are nice but missing that oomph. My sandwich had no dressing/sauce or olive oil. His was too watery due to the bell pepper and tomatoes. Service is 👌🏽. 7/10

Nice outdoor patio area by the water. The service was good and the food was also pretty good, decent portion size but a bit overpriced. Still a nice spot to have a drink and enjoy the view.

Nice place with tasty food and good coffee. They have a terrace which unfortunately was full when we visited. We sat inside, on the upper part of the room which was extremely noisy and hard to have a conversation with my party. Staff were pleasant.

Stopped here for brunch - great decision. Had the eggs (3) with bacon, cheese tomato and chives on sourdough toast, simply fantastic. The menu is varied from sandwiches to pasta but I was certainly happy with my decision. There are English menus if required and the staff are friendly. My wife said the coffee was probably the best she has had this holiday and we have been travelling for almost 4 weeks. Highly recommend this cafe.

Wonderful little Canal side cafe. A good selection of gluten free open sandwiches. Sadly fries are cooked in the same fryer as gluten containing items so no fries. But the truffle parm steak sandwich was absolutely excellent! Tasty flavoured lemonades and great service. Would recommend.

Prins Heerlijk is a charming café located near Central Station in Amsterdam. It's known for its great service, delicious cakes, and strong coffee. The menu offers a variety of options for breakfast and lunch, including yummy soups, tasty sandwiches, and a selection of salads. Visitors can enjoy typical Dutch-style fried eggs on bread at affordable prices. The café also serves local snacks and fast food, such as frikandel and their version of fish and chips.
I really LOVE their Poffertjes, I believe it’s really an authentic one. I ordered two dishes for myself! The shop is small with limited seats, and tables are so close to each other. I was listening a couple argued for attitudes during my mealtime, and the guy eventually dumped the girl.
Barbie — Google review
I recently visited Prins Heerlijk for brunch, attracted by its great location near Amsterdam Centraal and the positive reviews. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to our expectations. Our food took almost 40 minutes to arrive, which felt a bit long. My friend ordered a fresh orange juice, but we were told it was unavailable and were offered apple juice instead. To our surprise, it wasn’t freshly made but came from a bottle. The coffee arrived quickly, but by the time the food came, I didn’t have anything left to drink. We ordered two English breakfasts, but the flavors were lacking; the dish felt quite plain and simple, especially for the price. While the location is convenient and the service was polite, the experience could definitely be improved with more attention to flavor and ensuring that drinks are as fresh as advertised. Hopefully, these small changes can make a big difference for future guests.

Both my wife and I had the English breakfast. The food itself was ok, the eggs were good, the sausage was bland and the bacon was fine. The toast wasn’t toasted, just bread out of the package, cut and put into the plate. We tried other breakfast in the same area and found it better, I don’t recommend.

The location is excellent if you're walking from the Central Station. This is a great place to people watch. We enjoyed the special croissant with a fried egg and bacon and the healthy baguette with salad. The coffee and americano were both good.

A Pancake Paradise with a Side of Patience This cozy nook is a delightful morning retreat, promising a breakfast experience that’s mostly heavenly. Their pancakes are nothing short of a revelation. Freshly brewed coffee paired with fluffy stacks, drizzled in Nutella and crowned with juicy strawberries? Pure bliss. It's a symphony of flavors that will have you humming your morning tunes. Sadly, the meat patty bun was a less inspiring act in this culinary drama. It was merely a supporting character, failing to steal the spotlight. While the ambiance is charming and inviting, patience might be required as the wait for your breakfast to arrive can test your Zen-like qualities. But hey, when the reward is a pancake masterpiece, a little wait might just be a small price to pay.
PL L — Google review
Good food for the price, but small venue. If you are looking for a good meal at a reasonable price, this is the place to go. If you are in a group it's not so great. The restaurant is very small. So you will need to be open to eating outside. If you are more than 4 people it will be hard to get a seat. As for food the Danish pancake was good. Very sweet but good. I personally recommend the salmon sandwich. The coffee is good as well.

Had a quick brunch with the wife as we were exploring Amsterdam city. Great place for some local snacks and fast food. We ordered the frikandel and their version of fish and chips. Food was good and definitely a fun pit stop right at the heart of the city facing the Central Station.

Dwaze Zaken is a lively, Christian-oriented cafe located near Amsterdam Central Station. It offers hearty meals, beers on tap, art exhibits, and live music. The restaurant has a beautiful interior and provides top-notch service with friendly staff. They serve a variety of dishes including Dutch pancakes, eggs, sandwiches, burgers, and Dutch finger food selections. The menu is simple but delicious with options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day.
Cute cafe on the canal with a view of the Amsterdam Central station and partial sunset view. Had roast beef sandwich and it’s good, the bread is crispy on the outside, soft inside. Large portion, no sides included. Free WiFi. Great spot for people watching or having a drink outdoors.

Decent selection of pancakes, a lot cheaper than another café close by. Coffee was good and staff were nice. Free mini stroopwafel with coffee too!

Good service and more affordable than similar cafes in the area (you can compare prices on the menu card). They were nice enough to accept my request of adding a fried egg onto my pancake for protein. And it was fun to people watch on the terrace.

Had a delightful meal for dinner here. The service was great, the food was delicious and came out reasonably quickly, and the atmosphere was so nice. They have a beautiful quote mosaic on the wall, and of course an incredible view of the city. Price is very reasonable for the quality of the food and location. Cherry on top was discovering a sunscreen station — so thoughtful!!

We had a light lunch- a platter of Dutch finger food and perfectly chilled white wine, both delicious. We placed the order using the QR code at our table and the service was prompt. This is an excellent choice of venue if you’d like to experience the vibe unique to central Amsterdam.

Eclectic restaurant
Café-Restaurant Amsterdam is a refined dining venue located in a restored engine room within an industrial building near Westerpark. The restaurant offers a spacious and bustling atmosphere reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, with old-school grandeur and stripped-back interiors. The menu features a wide range of international dishes, particularly notable for its excellent seafood options and impressive selection of desserts. The ambiance is described as relaxed and unpretentious, making it an ideal spot for enjoying good food without fuss.
Highly recommend because you will feel the energy & passion from all waitress. I learn that most of they are student. They walk fast and also keep smile, you will feel they like to move fast and ensure you are happy here. Big hall they have and also got great outdoor table. Food is good and can’t say excellent but over average Price is fair and highly recommend

One of my favourite restaurants in Amsterdam. The brasserie vibes of this place are unmatched. The menu has loads of options and they’re all delicious. I recommend taking an entree and a main dish, trust me, you will have enough food with the two! Yes, it is pricier than your average restaurant but that’s why I like it, I can come for a special occasion and every time I come I am not disappointed. Great atmosphere as this restaurant is in an old water pumping station so very cool architecture and super spacious and open. The staff are super friendly although sometimes it can take a bit to get noticed bit that’s just because there are many tables.

The seafood is amazing, tasty, fresh and highly recommended. Drinks were good too, quick service and amazing desserts. We sat outside, so quiet and relaxing - a great spot to relax. The meat options too are highly recommended- fresh and tasty. Easy to reach with public transport as well.

The waiters were very polite and warm. Our orders were served very quickly. The waiter's wine recommendation was spot on. We ordered steak, which was delicious. The high ceiling, reminiscent of a train station, creates a very spacious atmosphere. The clientele was also quite distinguished.
Mert Ü — Google review
The tagline is a "refined venue" but this is more like a local neighborhood restaurant. It's fine, but not worth the drive if you are staying downtown. The steak was tough and of poor quality, and I'm pretty sure my wife (who has a gluten allergy) was glutened here despite a warning to the staff.

Generally a good if mixed experience. The Cesar salad and steak frites were very good and a reasonable price, spoiled by the fact that i was brought béarnaise sauce (which wasn’t very flavourful) instead of peppercorn sauce, and spent 10 minutes trying to notify a waiter before I resigned myself to eating as. Luckily, the steak itself and the sticky toffee pudding to follow were otherwise unimpeachable!

The food is absolutely underwhelming. Don’t ever order the asparagus, it’s really bad. Nothing feels special or particularly good unfortunately. Just go somewhere else.

A. van Wees Tasting Locality is a charming pub and tasting room located in a former distillery on the Herengracht canal in Amsterdam. It offers an impressive selection of 17 different varieties of jenever, as well as French wines and classic Dutch fare. The cozy space is perfect for trying a kopstoot, which pairs jenever served neat with a glass of beer.
The food was good from start to finish. We ordered the Dutch pea soup and tomato soup, both were rich, flavorful, and perfect for a cozy meal. The chicken satay, vlammetjes, stew with fries, and the sandwich were all equally delicious, well-prepared, and full of taste. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the beer recommendations were spot-on. The place has a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer and enjoy another round. One quirky and fun detail: the entrance to the toilet is actually a huge pipe. The decor of this place is great. Overall, it was a great visit with delicious food, good drinks, and friendly service. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a cozy and authentic Dutch experience in the heart of Amsterdam!

We had a family dinner on our vacation, my son wanted to try a dutch fondue and they serve a good one. The atmosphere is cozy and lovely, the service is very good and I must admit the food was very tasty (photos included). * one tiny thing I personally didn’t like is that there was a cat sitting on the bar and walking around freely in a place where you serve food *

Lovely location with some outside seating facing the canal and some cosy seating inside. Food was comforting especially for a windy and cold day. Restaurant gets busy around 12.30pm, but if you go in at 12 on the dot it will be easy to get a seat without a reservation.

If you’re looking for a classic Dutch pub (or restaurant), this is the place! You can enjoy a wide variety of beers, including some mixed with rum. The only downside was that the portions were smaller than expected. Still, the service, food, and atmosphere were all great.

Such a wonderful experience. We were keen to try the local cheese fondue and found this place. What a delicious choice! The fondue came with bread only, so we ordered the well done steak with four small pieces for €10 to go with it. The fries were really good too.

Got here just after 7pm on a Wednesday and found a table outside for 1 immediately. It's a very popular place with great view over the canal. I loved sitting there reading and people watching for a couple of hours. I had a glass of wine, a small platter of snacks and the cheesecake for €30. Staff was lovely and the vibe was really cool. Exactly what I needed after a long day!

This little place is very cosy! I think that it was one of the best matcha that I have ever drank, the orange juice is delicious and the Yogurt Bowl is so fresh! You have a delicious yogurt with homemade granola and a large amount of fruits like strawberries, banana, blueberries, kiwi and raspberries! 🥝

The place itself is really cute and cosy, we loved it. The food we had was absolutely amazing, so tasty and well presented. I also tried the pink matcha latte and was genuinely impressed. The matcha was really smooth, no powdery bits at all, just perfectly mixed. We also ordered an apple juice, expecting something freshly squeezed, but it came from a bottle and was just poured into a glass, which was a bit disappointing to be honest. The only downside was the service, which was quite slow. We ended up waiting a fair bit and I noticed there was only one waitress working the whole café, so they probably had a staff shortage. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but then again, most places in Amsterdam are, so I can’t really complain. Overall, a lovely spot with great food and drinks, just don’t go if you’re in a rush.

Cute, little place in the middle of the centre. Cosy atmosphere on the inside, looked a bit crouded on the inside, but still nice to be. Last Saturday, I found myself at Poco Loco, a vibrant eatery that exudes a funky seventies vibe and boasts a spacious sunny terrace right in the heart of Nieuwmarkt. This spot has become one of my favorites for its quintessential Dutch charm. Whether you're starting your day with coffee and traditional appelgebak or enjoying generous club sandwiches and wraps for lunch, Poco Loco caters to all cravings.
Stumbled upon this restaurant last week, and had a great evening. Pitchers of beer, amazing nachos with very generous toppings, and the burgers were top notch, all served quickly and was fresh and hot. Our server Arash was super friendly and helped us with the menu, as we couldn’t decide what to have, we left with very full bellies and most importantly it didn’t break the bank. Hopefully we will return on our next visit to Amsterdam :-) If you go, look out for Tony the cat 😹😻
Emma B — Google review
The menu was off. I ordered Club sandwich (which said on the menu that it comes with fries) and i received it with chips. Also, the avocado toast came with boiled eggs instead of poached (as it said on the menu). When I wanted to sit on a certain table, the staff memeber said to move to another one since that one was dirty (had dirty plates on it). I do not find that great to say to a customer, since the “cleaning” only took 2 minutes. Food was good, 7/10. Overall, 2 star experience, would not recommend

Absolutely wonderful place and Tony the cat is a wonderful host. Only had drinks but they were made quickly and were delicious. At Poco Loco, the food ranged from average to good, while the service was commendable. It was an overall good experience, but nothing that will leave you in awe. Had 3 different wait staff, took orders but then food took ages to arrive and not both meals at the same time, as for some reason they thought we had ordered 2 of the same dish, so 3 dishes for 2 people! Food was fresh, hot and tasty. Ordered dessert which took ages again, so had to ask and they had missed it! Toilet clean, but up and down lots of steps, plus the doors open out on each other (men's/women's) and the stairs so be careful when approaching.

I can't say enough good about this place! I ate there 2 or 3 times while in Amsterdam and everything is fresh. It's a must visit if you are ever in Amsterdam!

Went there for breakfast and fell in love. The ambience was unbelievable. It’s such a cute cafe. I ate fried eggs served with hartog bread with salami. It was pretty good. I also drank basil-lime lemonade. It was probably one of the best drinks I’ve ever tasted. If I ever come to Amsterdam again, I will definitely go to this cafe.

We came here at the recommendation of our guide from Those Amsterdames. The space and ambience definitely charmed the socks off me. We had the window seat where we could watch the world goes by. Food wise, I think it could be an effect of coming in the afternoon as opposed to the morning, the bread was harder than I expected. It took a bit more of us to tear it apart to bite sizes. Today I came here for their parisian flan, which was unfortunately sold out. Instead, I bought one of their overpriced desserts (€4.5 for something so small) with some raspberries on top and the raspberry filling was extremely sour. You also cannot eat there at all if you have a drink from another place, even if you don’t drink it, which was okay ig if their pastries made up for it. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place, as there are so many more and better bakeries in Amsterdam to try that are more worth your money (like Lourens, het Koekemannetje, Salvo Bakehouse, Bini bakery, bunbun, Saint-Jean etc.).

The establishment offers a range of breakfast options, lunch items, and evening snacks including sandwiches, soups, salads, and quiche. Guests can indulge in delicious coffee or opt for juices and wine. Visitors praise the Dutch Shrimp Croquette and Runny Eggs with Truffle Cream with Toast + Ham Avocado Toast.
Here's a polished version of your review: ⸻ We stumbled upon this gem by chance while in the area after the Anne Frank tour, which ended just after lunch. Arriving around 1 PM, we found the restaurant quite busy. Despite this, our group of six was fortunate enough to secure a table. The staff was incredibly accommodating and, understanding our time constraints, recommended menu items that could be prepared quickly. The food was absolutely delicious. Our table ordered a variety of entrées from the full menu, and everyone was impressed. I can confidently say this is a solid choice for anyone in the area.

Right in the heart of the tourist zone, Kessens is a nice place to take a break while exploring Amsterdam. Dishes were on the smaller side — don’t expect to get full on one plate. Flavors were decent across the board. Service was quick and friendly, which made the experience smoother. The Burrata Salad was the highlight: fresh, flavorful, and nicely plated. The steak sandwich was our least favorite. Good stop if you’re in the area and want a light bite in a calm setting. 👍 Helpful? Tap that like.

Solid experience here, with good food and nice atmosphere. Appreciated the touches such as the branded plates. Service was a little slow but I wasn’t in a rush so it didn’t bother me. Staff were friendly and accommodating of my peanut allergy

We were quick to be seated, and the service was fast. I got the truffle cream runny eggs and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Good option for a lighter lunch if you don’t want to feel weighed down while walking around near city center.

Beautiful place in Amsterdam for breakfast or brunch. I really loved the truffle eggs dish. It was quite unique. The coffee was okay. Generally a very good experience and its work visiting if you’re in Amsterdam..

What an amazing breakfast and lunch venue, we stumbled upon this place while on vacation from the USA. We have been here every morning since we found it. The food is absolutely amazing. We had never had such delicious breakfast meals like this before. OMG ! The coffee and OJ is so fresh., you have to try the crepes and blueberries, Yum!.

The food was all delicious. But the coffee was bitter, I wouldn’t recommend it. Very polite staff, but for some reason they seat you at less comfortable tables, although there are seats and they are free for an hour.

I liked this place, the waitress who took the order was nice and the food was delicious. But 20 minutes before closing time, another waiter took my tea (which was almost gone, but he could have asked) and asked if I wanted anything else, adding that they were closing soon. I said no, paid the bill and left the cafe with an unpleasant feeling

Back to Black is a delightful coffee haven that has blossomed since its inception in 2014 by childhood friends Noortje Vlutters and Inge Bulthuis. What started as a single coffee bar has transformed into a charming small empire, featuring two cozy locations in Amsterdam—one near the Rijksmuseum and another in the vibrant Westerpark area.
Best espresso pulled in Amsterdam and the first cafe that I felt I could give an unqualified 5 out of 5. Vibe and setting is special without being curated or plastic. Like visiting your cool friend that knows coffee on your way to the park on a day off work.
Kyle D — Google review
The place is nice and has a good atmosphere and vibe, but it’s not very spacious and can get packed and loud quickly. The service is great, you order at the cashier and then they bring your order to the table. I ordered the lemonade and a mushroom tart and I didn’t love them. The lemonade is not fresh from the moment, but rather brought from somewhere else.

What an amazing experience we had at Back to Black! An authentic and cozy place in the heart of the city with a lovely ambience and full of locals! Both coffees were really good and the espresso brownie was simply BREATHTAKING! Best espresso brownie I’ve ever had! The staff was super nice and they also sell some decorations and ornaments in the shop! I’d definitely recommend them if you’re looking for an authentic café experience in Amsterdam! 10/10 Tip: for those looking for a café to take your laptop to and work from there, Back to Black IS NOT your place, since they don’t allow laptops on the counters and tables.

Stopped to have a quick coffee and I’d say that it was delicious. I don’t know which beans they used, but I’m sure that I could smell their strong aroma and that playful taste on the tongue which is a sign of good coffee. Ambience was okay toiletries in the basement not wheelchair accessible perhaps the whole place is not wheelchair accessible. Seating was a bit tight. If you are in the area and want a nice coffee, then it should be on your list and I would say that you will not be disappointed. Overall experience was very good. Definitely five stars.

The apple pie is cool and refreshing, with a soft and delicious apple filling. Unfortunately, the crust gets very sweet towards the end. Although it’s not top tier, it’s still a pretty good apple pie. The dirty chai latte has a strong spicy flavor, which I personally don’t like very much. The atmosphere in the shop is nice, but you can only use a laptop on weekdays.

I had a cortado and it was not only stunning but also completely delicious. I like how I had the option of a single- most places offer a (tight) double shot by default, but as I was already thoroughly caffeinated, a single (at only €3, at least in October 2025) was a perfect compromise. Beautiful peaceful space, too.

Amazing specialty coffe. Great atmosphere , amazing staff, coffe that week was amazing ( single origin from Columbia). The apple pie was a killing. Hopefully in Amsterdam you walk a lot. So you don't care about calories limit 🥳

This cafe has a very Kinfolk vibe and is very aesthetic. It was a relaxing spot to have an early breakfast on my recent trip to Amsterdam. Coffee excellent, Earl Grey scone palatable, although accompaniments could’ve been tastier to complement better. Atmosphere very quiet and patrons respectful of one another despite close confinement. Staff pleasant enough. Altogether an enjoyable experience and would visit again, primarily to try more of the coffee selection.

*WE ONLY TRIED POTATOES* DELICIOUS!!! We got a tornado - chewy and tasty - and a stuffed baked potato. THEY MIX THE BUTTER, CHEESE, AND SALT INTO THE POTATO BERORE ADDING THE TOPPINGS. OH. MY. YUM.
Kathleen N — Google review
The baked potato was ok! Not the freshest or most extensive range of toppings, I mean how can you sell a baked/jacket potato without sour cream? The real disappointment was the chocolate cake. Looked delicious. Tasted, well there was zero taste! So disappointed as it looked amazing, but NO! Complete waste of €5 😩 Don't be lured in by their cakes appearances!
Penny — Google review
The service is just terrible. The food looks good and does taste nice but just the whole methodology is wrong. Rude and very condescending in they answers. The product all don’t have price nor is they a list or any way to find out except asking. They stuff answers by giving you rough estimate of what you can spend. I was told , 5.40,6, 6.50 or 7..... what or where were the product with the price is left to your imagination. Is it egg sandwich or just sausage sandwich up to you. Would not recommend it nor visit again. Too many nice places to keep up with that kind of service
Dano K — Google review
The baked potato was ok but nothing special... the cakes were average, probably better to give this one a miss. You have to pay to use the loo and there aren’t any prices up, so you don’t know what you’re paying until you are already fully committed to your purchase.

Friendly staff. But: Lack of cleanliness at the departure of customers. Floor and table. super expensive price like: (simit at 4€) small compir at 9€ And it does not taste like the real compir… it was the first and last time..

I hope that one beautiful day you expand all the way to Copenhagen. Ultra delicious food, so much to taste and so many different things, and the cakes are something else. Definitely coming back.

No good cheese options, all toppings are cold, bland and the toppings options are also extremely limited. Said there's no receipt for my food. It was an unpleasant meal.
Mariam F — Google review
Had the Kumpir/baked potato with a myriad of cold fillings, which was a disappointment. There is a lot more potato than fillings. Not up to the usual standard of Simit Sarayi. Had the chicken fillet baguette/sandwich also, which was a small fillet cut into half and decorated with one slice of tomato and slivers of green pepper. Food is served quickly which is a bonus but overpriced for what is on offer. Doesn't compare to the quality of their branches in London or Istanbul. Staff were friendly, which is the only plus point.

Maoz Vegan is a vegan restaurant with a Counter-serve falafel stand. The toppings and sauces are all customizable so that each meal is unique.
I decided to get a salad bowl with falafel, it's so nice that you get to pick what you want in your own salad. All the different dressings/ sauces was vegan. I felt overjoyed to finally have a problem with choosing. As a vegan you get used to maybe one or to options. But here everything was vegan and they had been since the 90's. The woman working there was so friendly and told me she had worked there for over 30 years. I told her that I took pics of the food and asked if I could get one of the front. It was no problem and she said she had never heard about Happy Cow. And that it's apps like that that helps they stay open so she appreciated that so much ❤️ PS. I also wanted to give a Google review in hope of more people eating vegan could see it.

11/10 best falafel I’ve had in Amsterdam yet! Gorgeous soft pita. Lovely man. Great amount for price. And you get to choose your own salads (literally as much as you want).
Saskia H — Google review
Everything here is incredibly fresh and the falafel are made to order. The owner makes a variety of different salads and toppings that you are free to add to your pita afterwards. I ended up visiting this place twice. It's usually hard to find healthy food while traveling but this place is a hidden gem in Amsterdam..
Gregory W — Google review
For 7.5£ you can really make it worth it ! The mushroom was freshly cooled and added to the bread. Then you can add most of the toppings you want without charge. And then sauces!! This was delicious and had so much flavor I would definitely eat this again
Christia D — Google review
One of the best meals I had in Amsterdam. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, the fried aubergine was to die for and the managers special hot sauce was so incredible!
Yannet 8 — Google review
My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Forget everything you thought you knew about falafel, because Maoz Falafel in Amsterdam is an absolute revelation. While the Netherlands boasts a vibrant culinary scene—from Indonesian to Argentinian to Turkish——the real unsung hero is the humble falafel found at Maoz. This isn't just a meal; it's an experience in a pita. Maoz, a name that fittingly translates to "courage," (I think). is the brainchild of Nahman and Sima, who had the guts to reinvent the falafel stand. You get your perfectly toasted pita, stuffed with fresh lettuce and a few of their delicious falafels, and then the magic begins. You take control. This isn't a food line; it's your culinary playground. The All-You-Can-Stuff-It Falafel Experience The falafel itself is a work of art. It’s crispy on the outside, fluffy and green on the inside, with a beautiful blend of cilantro, garlic, and cumin that sings with every bite. I’d confidently rate it a 9/10, and as a food lover, that’s high praise. But the real joy is customizing your creation. The endless salad bar is where you make your masterpiece. I’m talking about piling your pita high with their tangy onion salsa—my personal favourite—followed by a crunchy vegetable salad, a zesty carrot salad, and a dollop of creamy coleslaw. You have to finish it off with a drizzle of their vibrant chili coriander sauce. The harmonious blend of flavours and textures is truly unforgettable. While I’ve always been a fan of their classic falafel pita, the eggplant version is a must-try. The smoky, tender eggplant perfectly complements the crispy falafel. I've been eating here since my parents discovered it in the '90s, and it’s a tradition that has stood the test of time. When someone says Maoz has the best falafel in town, they aren't kidding—they're just telling you the delicious truth.

Fantastic meal. So many choices! The entire menu is vegan, the food is fresh, tasty, delicious and generous. The inside is beautiful and the staff amazingly kind and efficient. Vegan Temple Bar – A Mixed Bag of Bites and Vibes... I recently visited Vegan Temple Bar in Amsterdam, and while there were definitely some highlights, a few odd choices kept it from being a fully satisfying experience. Let’s start with the food. The burger was okay—not bad, but nothing that stood out in a city that offers some truly excellent vegan options. What did impress me, though, were the fries—crispy, golden perfection—and the truffle mayo, which was rich, flavorful, and honestly addictive. If I came back, it would be mostly for those two alone. That said, the presentation left a lot to be desired. Serving food on old wooden cutting boards that looked worn out and slightly grimy didn’t exactly scream clean or appetizing. It might be meant to be rustic, but it just came off as a little unhygienic. To make things stranger, there was ketchup “art” smeared across the board in some kind of decorative attempt—which seemed not only unnecessary but also wasteful. The ambiance also took a hit when someone from the kitchen—possibly a manager or chef—was loudly berating staff in English. It was uncomfortable and really killed the chill vibe the place is trying to cultivate. All in all, while there were definitely some standout bites, the overall experience didn’t quite match the potential. I might return eventually, but probably only if Amsterdam’s many other fantastic vegan spots are off the table.

Absolutely blown away by the Vegan Temple Bar in Amsterdam! From the moment you walk in, the vibrant atmosphere, stylish décor, and friendly staff make it clear you’re in for something special. It’s a beautifully designed spot that feels modern yet relaxed — perfect for catching up with friends, enjoying a casual meal, or just soaking in the lively Amsterdam vibe. The food was absolutely delicious 😋 — every dish looked and tasted amazing. I went for the Truffle Delight Burger 🍔, and honestly, as an omnivore and long-time meat lover, I was amazed at how good it was. Juicy, rich, and full of flavor, it’s one of the best burgers I’ve had — vegan or otherwise! The truffle mayo and perfectly seasoned patty were next-level, and the loaded fries on the side were a dream. It’s clear the team here really cares about quality — everything from the presentation to the taste felt thought-out and fresh. The menu is creative and full of tempting options, from burgers and bowls to pasta and sweets (the desserts looked incredible!). Atmosphere and service were spot on too. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole place has such a positive, energetic feel. I’d definitely recommend booking ahead, as it does get busy — and for good reason! Vegan Temple Bar isn’t just for vegans — it’s for anyone who loves good food done right. I left genuinely impressed and inspired to add more plant-based meals into my day-to-day. A five-star experience all around. 🇳🇱✨

Nice vegan find in Amsterdam. There's both indoor and outdoor space, and a full vegan menu with pasta and burger options plus snacks and some sweets. Came here to try the bitterballen and the stroopwafel and I was pretty happy, I ordered a takeaway. The service was also very warm.

Fantastic vegan food here, so good we went to eat there twice. The satay bowl was so good I have made similar since we have been home and our very picky daughter absolutely wolfed down the burger. The staff welcome you like old friends and whilst the restaurant is busy, it’s not overwhelmingly noisy.

Variety of tasty dishes. Good prices. Excellent service. Great decoration and illumination. Just a bit too loud the music. Besides that, all perfect.
Diego A — Google review
If you’re gonna call yourself a Japanese restaurant you should learn how to make Japanese food. Gyozas were soggy, sushi tasted like albert heijn’s sushi, and the crispy fried rice were overcooked that it was so hard and unpleasant for the teeth. i would give this place a 2/10 for the nice service of the staff (they gave me a new portion of the fried rice because the old one was too hard to eat), but the food is just not Japanese.
Hanh N — Google review
A solid Japanese tapas-style restaurant, but not the best choice for a full dinner. We ordered the edamame, chicken katsu, bao buns, and sushi. The chicken katsu and bao buns were excellent, but the sushi was underwhelming. It is a good place for drinks and a light bite, especially if you want something casual and shareable. Prices are on the higher side for the portion sizes.
Brad L — Google review
If you are looking to fill your belly before a rave night, this place can definitely help. Fresh seafood and perfectly cooked rice. I liked the low lighting as it gives the place a cozy and comfortable vibe. The service was average since it took them a while to notice I was there or to come take my order.
Raul A — Google review
The food is ok I mean not that special not the best ingredients but well made. I can see that chefs are putting good effort in it. It did not feel like quite Japanese it was more like Asian inspired food (some meals are fusion like Bao buns, kimchi etc.) Service was a bit slow however the service employees were nice. Unfortunately, it is expensive for what you get.

BE CAREFUL!!! Incredibly rude and bitter owner asked me to leave just because I planned to have the to-go coffee I ordered at a table inside. The sad thing about the man and the shop is that the location allows him to operate as a tourist trap with a constant influx of people. I ordered the dragon noodles which was full of flavour and delicious! The staff are wonderful too. Loved the place but I felt it was slightly pricey - 19-ish Euros for one bowl of noodles. I came here after running the Amsterdam marathon and it was the perfect replenishment. I got the Buddha bowl salad and the jackfruit tacos. The jackfruit tacos were on traditional corn tortillas about two bites each taco. Quite expensive for the quantity but taste and substance worth it. Firstly, I just came here for smoothies, but they were great. No issues with freshness, smell, or taste for both. The service was pleasant. The fruit was chopped and processed when the smoothie was made, so no issues. Secondly, I would like to thank the man who made the smoothies who was working on Saturday June 21, 2025 in the afternoon. It was the 750th Anniversary Festival for Amsterdam and he graciously told me how to get in. That created a special experience for me I won't forget. That act seemed in line with a good community.

I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but I feel the need to warn others. A friend and I picked up food here and both got sick shortly after eating it. The taste was really strange, strong and off, but since we’re not that familiar with vegan food, we gave it the benefit of the doubt. Looking back, it clearly wasn’t fresh and we both ended up with symptoms of food poisoning. What really concerns me is that, reading back through other reviews, more people have mentioned issues with freshness and it seems nothing has been done about it. We won’t be going back. Strong recommendation to go elsewhere. --- Thank you for your response, but I completely stand by my experience. I’m not vegan, but I’ve followed detox routines where I ate raw food for several days, so I know what properly prepared raw food tastes like and have experienced the effects. This was something else entirely. Reading other reviews and seeing photos, it’s clear this isn’t the first time concerns about freshness have been raised, and frankly, it’s also not the first time these concerns seem to be dismissed rather than taken seriously. To be clear, I’m not looking for compensation, this isn’t about money. If I need medical advice, I’ll speak to my doctor. I’m sharing this experience to warn others, not to start a conversation.

Best place in town for pure food! Love this place it’s amazing for people who understand what’s raw food this is the place to be. I love the pure cacao what I use and the care of the products. Hiden gem in Amsterdam.

This was my third time at the restaurant and all the food was super delicious. Tried the raw burger and lasagna and family had the raw cakes and we all loved it. The staff is very nice and helpful as I asked for onion and garlic free options and they modified it for me, he place sells exotic fruit and herbal medicine as well. There is outside seating and also downstairs a clean toilet. Te only problem is that I dont live in Amsterdam to come more often :)

Love everything about this place. Can seat, detox, relax and enjoy really healthy food. The smoothies are very fulfilling and really enjoy their desserts. The place has a patio and inside they have a bunch of board games and books. Makes for a great place to go enjoy a meal, relax and chat.

Yummy American cakes! I was hair I tried the red velvet cupcake and cake slice. Both amazing! Available for dine in and take out! Many seats inside.

It is always a pleasure to visit De Drie Graefjes. The service is constantly great and there is a tempting selection of cakes on display. Their red velvet and mash-up cake are really tasty and firm favorites of mine. The generous slices of cake are a real bonus and make it feel well worth the price.

I had a lovely experience at De Drie Graefjes. I stopped in for a drink and a slice of red velvet cake and it was wonderful. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. I felt comfortable right away. It really felt like a little oasis in the middle of the busy city. The cake slices are large and incredibly delicious and the coffee is strong and well-made. I even took a slice home because it was so good! There are plenty of cozy seating areas upstairs and the free Wi-Fi makes it an easy place to relax for a while. A very charming café. I’ll definitely come back.

I usually come here for the cakes, but this time I decided to try something different and have a meal instead. Unfortunately, it was quite a letdown. I ordered the avocado toast – something I often enjoy elsewhere – but what I got was literally just dry toast with a blob of avocado slapped on top. No seasoning, no flair, just… bland. Tried to save it with some salt & peper, but no. It came with some uninspired nacho chips on the side as well, which didn’t help much either. I ended up sending it back. Apparently, you can add extra toppings (for an extra charge), but honestly, the basic version should still be decent enough to serve. There were a few other small things too, but I think this review is already long enough. Next time, I’ll happily stick to the cakes

Placed an order for my 30th bday and paid extra for the writing of “Fabulous 30”. I think the picture I uploaded says enough about the quality and the decor of the cake.. My 5 year old niece would have written it better and at least centered. 71 euros down the drain🙃

Great overall experience here at “The Three Graefjes” at the Rokin. The crew is friendly, welcoming and proactive. I was here on a Tuesday afternoon around 2PM and it was not busy at that time. The interior feels modern, with a vintage vibe. It’s clean and tidy. I wanted to try their red velvet cake, and I have to say… it was definitely tasty, not too moist, not too dry and most importantly not overly sweet! Make sure to leave some room, because the cake itself is quite heavy! If you order a drink, I recommend to order it without a lot of sugar added to it. Since the cake itself is sweet enough. Definitely recommended to try some of their delicious cakes!

Great place with lots of grilled and barbecue options. Very tasty and of course halal. Pastry 🍰 options are amazing. Haven for sweet lover really recommend. Keep in mind finding a parking spot is difficult in the evening.

I don’t know how it’s possible. The rate is so high is definitely definitely. It is over rate plus yes employees or nice friendly how possible they doesn’t have WiFi N I know how Turkish tea tease unfortunately it’s not fresh. I asked them to make it black coffee unfortunately I don’t think I will come back again by the way, so maybe they sold out or they don’t have some item on the which is in the menu.

Hi , I like the place, music and some dishes like KABAB and Trilitcha so much but I ordered Warm chocolate milk, it was not good , it is like hot water with a little sugar, I don't recommend it at all..I asked to change it ,they gave me an other glas but unfortunately It was the same..😤.. I post some photos..

My experience at this café was not up to my expectations. The service was quite slow, which slightly spoiled the experience. As for the quality of the products, it was disappointing, especially the pastries. I particularly advise against ordering it, they were overly sweet and for the baklava or künefe of rather average quality comparing with the prise. In my opinion, it’s possible to find much better options nearby, especially with the presence of several similar establishments in the area.

Absolutely delicious turkish desserts!! Definitely recommend the different baklavas and künefe with turkish ice cream. The tres leches was pretty good too, but we might have had a corner piece since the cake portion was pretty thin. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place but make sure to make a reservation as it can get very busy!

It’s perfect if you want to taste real Turkish food without going there. Everything tasted exactly as it would taste in Turkey and the quality is great! Highly recommend! The food was so good oh wow! The flavour combinations went crazy. We just stumbled upon the restaurant on our trip here. It was absolutely worth it!🙂‍↕️😍We ate this (2 people) and weren't able to finish everything. I am still stunned by how good everything tasted

This was our second visit, and we noticed that the portion sizes were noticeably smaller than before and also smaller compared to other tables. It left us wondering if there was a reason for this. Additionally, the food was quite salty, which affected our overall experience.
Abidin E — Google review
Really nice Vegan place in west. I liked their cauliflower bites and noodles. Flavours are wonderful and food is delicious. They have great drinks as well with their own twist. I tried the magic lemonade and it was exciting :D Outdoor sitting makes it perfect choice for those summer brunches! Service is nice as well with courteous staff. I would definitely recommend it to check it out to fellow vegan and vegetarians.

Wonderful restaurant. Couldn't fault anything! The food was delicious and service was excellent. Really great fun atmosphere and beautiful decor. The food was absolutely delicious. I went with a friend and we tried a range of dishes. We shared 7 between us which was maybe one too many. The portions were good and we were very full. I would definitely go back.
Amanda B — Google review
Staff was exceptional. I was really surprised with the food. I did not expect all that much, but from the 3 dishes we ordered, all were really good. Did the mapo taste like mapo? No. But it was delicious nonetheless. Spicy cauliflower is a must eat. I would love to come again. My meat eating friend said that unlike with other vegan options, the food here was really flavorful.
Edía P — Google review
A fully vegan restaurant with a very diverse Asian influenced spread. The Korean cauliflower bites was the star of the show, a must try! Kimchi toast was very good as well. The shanghai fried noodles had an interesting twist with crunchy okra in it. But the overall taste was decent, felt very clean and healthy but maybe the flavours could have been pushed up a notch. Wasn't impressed with the papaya salad, was too bland for our taste. We tried their homemade lemonades and they were really good. Hibiscus, matcha mint and the colour changing magic lemonade were all good and refreshing. The service is quite friendly and nice! They have a very colourful and cheerful decor with comfortable seating both inside and outside on the terrace. They have a good selection of cocktails as well. We didn't try them but maybe next time.

MaozFalafel is a popular vegetarian chain that originated in Amsterdam in 1991 and has since expanded globally. The restaurant offers counter-serve falafel with a variety of self-serve toppings, making it a favorite spot for vegetarians and vegans. In addition to their signature falafel, MaozFalafel also serves fries, mushroom shawarma, and fried aubergines.
Great for a quick and healthy bite in the heart of amsterdam. I always chose the falafel pita, which comes with 5 falafels and which one can refill for free twice at the counter with fresh vegetables, sauces and other toppings of your choice. Only complaint is that i find some of the toppings a bit too salty. The price is very affordable for amsterdam and its a great value for a lunch snack.

Was it with even a hint of irony that Maoz sold me, for the lofty price of €7.50 (having told me the smaller version was unavailable) simply two slices of bread with three falafel and a few limp salad leaves, without any of the accoutrements? Left me wanting more, not in a good way
Antonia — Google review
Extremely rude Staff!! First of all, the food was nice. BUT the guy who served us was extremely rude. I ordered the meal deal (includes pita, fries & drink) with shoarma, he asked what we wanted to drink and then I paid. I was surprised by the price. Then I asked him "hadn't I ordered the meal deal?" And he replied to me in a very angry way that it wasn't possible to get the meal deal with shoarma, only with pita." I said okay, but why didn't he tell me that when I ordered. He just looked at me very angry and wouldn't talk to me anymore. I'm talking about that guy with the very long beard wearing a turban.

One of the best ones in Amsterdam! Simply loved there creations. My review is dated several years back but I have tried their products many many times and consistently they have been great! Best to make a part of your celebrations or carry a few goodies on a picnic. Loved macrons, pastries, cakes, every thing!

When i asked for their best dessert I got 2 recommended... So this is a dessert showdown on which is the best. The fruity one or the caramel desert... Both desserts are amazingly well balanced and not overpowering in sweetness... Delicious and decadent... What more do you want!? So the answer to what is the best dessert? We are split wich one is better..... But since I am writing this review, I would go for the fruity one.
Robin I — Google review
So far this is the best patisserie that I tried in Amsterdam I LOVE IT! All the pastries are gorgeous and as a chocolate lover I can say that also the merengue lemon pie is stunning. Service is also perfect. I hardly found that level of courtesy in other places in Amsterdam.

Found this place on google map. Had a pleasant visit today. This dessert store is soooooooo cute! They have huge alphabet chocolate which I might get one in the future for friends birthday. The macarons are delicious and so many flavors. You can only put macaron in the fridge for 5 days so I didn’t buy lots today. The mirror glaze mousse cake I got today is also delicious. The berry mousse fits so good with the chocolate base, it’s not too sweet that make you uncomfortable and you can taste some raspberry in it. Oh and the staff was really friendly. Will definitely come visit again.

Le Pain Quotidien is a popular Belgian bakery cafe with eight branches in Amsterdam, each offering its own unique neighborhood atmosphere. It's a great spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, known for its delicious and fresh-tasting food and diverse menu. The cafe has a pleasant atmosphere with pretty indoor aesthetics and large cappuccinos. While some find the portion sizes to be slightly overpriced, it's still considered a nice find overall.
Nice place to stop for a snack and warm up. The tea was really tasty and just what we needed. At first, they brought us the wrong dessert, not the one we ordered. But they replaced it for free without any fuss, which was great. The correct dessert turned out a bit dry, though. Overall, the service made up for the mistake. The staff was polite and handled the situation well.

Terrible food. Pics or didn’t happen, right? The first photo is what I had, the second one what it was supposed to be. Bread was not baked properly. The filling was subpar. Bad “pinsa” overall. I had flat white with almond milk but the problem was the almond milk they use is sweetened. Why?? It was also very watery. Maybe desserts are good, I don’t know. I am dissappointent.

A café for a quick or last-minute bite. Nothing really stands out. The scrambled eggs were cold and bland. There were also two boiled eggs — I ended up dipping my croissant into them, since the cold, plain bread just didn’t make sense.

Pancakes Amsterdam, located at Prins Hendrikkade 48, 1012 AC Amsterdam, offers a diverse menu featuring pancake-centric dishes inspired by both international cuisine and traditional Dutch cooking. The restaurant categorizes its menu by style, with dedicated sections for flat Dutch pancakes and thicker American varieties. Toppings range from savory combinations like ham and cheese to sweet treats such as chocolate sauce and stroopwafel crumble.
The staff were incredibly approachable and friendly, lovely people from start to finish. Great environment with wonderful ambience while eating! The food was delicious, got some sweet Dutch pancakes which were superb, a constant sweetness throughout that didn’t turn sickly towards the end like a lot of other “sweet treat” food spots
Stephen A — Google review
After arriving in Amsterdam, I really fancied some pancakes and being a very short walk outside of the station this place was perfect. It was a little busy when I arrived however I still got a seat straightaway. Firstly just want to say that the staff were brilliant! Really friendly and helpful, they were always smiling and created a nice atmosphere. A great selection of food and drinks are available but I went for the basic maple and bacon option and a coffee. The coffee arrived almost straight away and was lovely. Like I said it was a little busy but my pancake arrived about 5-7 minutes later so still very quick service, and these were equally nice. Really fluffy and just spot on. It was a really good sized portion, (I got through about 2 and a half of them before they beat me) and the bacon wasn’t quite as snappy/crispy as I like, but they were nicely cooked and tasted great. And to top it off, after I paid they gave me a nice little keyring to remember the place and I personally love it when places do things like this. It’s just a really nice touch and I’ll always remember this place when I see it, and it really set the tone for what was an awesome day in an amazing city. 🙂 When I’m next in Amsterdam I’ll definitely be coming back here. The only thing I can say to just be aware of is if it’s busy, it can be a light bit tight if you sit outside as you’ll be sitting quite close to others. For me it wasn’t a problem as I’m not very big, but there was still a little bit of manoeuvring to get in and out, but the food and service you get is top notch so well worth it. In fact while I was eating a couple turned up with some suitcase and the staff offered to keep the cases safe inside so they could sit outside. Thank you Pancakes Amsterdam for a memorable and enjoyable visit.

We had breakfast here, and it was really good! The portions are big and very filling — definitely enough to start your day right. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, but that’s expected since it’s located in the city center. The service was good, and overall, it was a nice experience. Worth trying if you’re in Amsterdam and want a hearty breakfast!
Atif G — Google review
We came here a few times — a calm, friendly spot just across from Amsterdam Centraal Station that’s incredibly convenient if you’ve got a train to catch. It’s easy to find and perfect for a relaxed breakfast or a casual brunch before exploring the city. The team working there were warm and efficient — friendly smiles, quick service, and they never made me feel rushed despite the steady stream of people coming in. My pancakes arrived sooner than I expected, piping hot and nicely presented. The menu has a good range of choices, including protein-friendly options (think extra eggs or savory choices) and clearly marked gluten-free alternatives, which I appreciated as someone traveling with dietary preferences. The portions are satisfying without being overwhelming, and they pair nicely with a well-brewed cup of coffee. The atmosphere is welcoming and laid-back — light, cozy seating and a gentle buzz of conversation that makes it a nice place to linger. It’s also family-friendly, with menu items that appeal to kids and adults alike. If you’re in a hurry, they do handle takeaway swiftly, which is convenient given the station location. One practical note: because of how convenient it is, especially for travelers arriving or departing from the station, the place fills up quickly — particularly on weekend mornings and during tourist season. If you want a quieter experience or a guaranteed table, come early or aim for a late-afternoon snack time. That said, turnover is decent, and the staff manage the flow well, so wait times aren’t usually too long. Overall, a relaxing and reliable spot for pancakes in a prime location. Friendly service, tasty options for different diets, and a cozy vibe make it worth a visit — just plan for crowds and come early if you want a guaranteed table. Highly recommended for a casual, delicious pit stop by Centraal Station.

Overall pretty good experience. The food was good, there was wide range of options on the menu. I got something basic, but looking at the food on other tables some of the pancakes can be quite decadent. Coffee was good here, with options for oat or soy milk. I will say the temperature inside the restaurant was very hot and a bit of airflow would have made the dining experience more pleasant. The servers were nice, but limited interactions with customers because it was busy.

You can't go to the Netherlands and not have a Dutch pancake, and you shouldn't go to Amsterdam and not have one at Amsterdam Pancakes! Short queue, worth the wait, had one savoury and one sweet between us and some refreshing lemonades. All delicious! Would definitely come again and keep working through the menu - lots of tasty classics and modern combos to try.

I recently visited Pancakes Amsterdam and it was such a delightful experience! The Dutch pancakes we ordered were melt-in-your-mouth and with just the right balance of sweetness. I tried the Dutch pancake with sweet strawberries, hazelnuts and whipped cream, and it was absolutely delicious. The presentation was lovely too! Portion size was generous. The atmosphere of the shop was friendly and inviting. Staff were attentive and welcoming, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Overall, I’d highly recommend Pancakes Amsterdam to anyone looking for a comforting brunch spot or a sweet treat / savoiry pancakes any time of day. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu before my holiday comes to an end!
Vipali P — Google review
Went to Pancakes Amsterdam for a solo dinner and had a decent experience overall. I was seated quickly and the waiter came by within about 5 minutes—friendly enough, though didn’t introduce himself. The wait time for food wasn’t too bad (around 20 minutes), and the menu does a good job of explaining that the pancakes are made fresh, so I knew what to expect. I ordered the ham & cheese pancake with a fried egg. It was okay taste-wise—not really my thing, but that’s on me for picking a savory option. I’d definitely come back to try one of their sweet pancakes instead, which seem more popular. Really appreciated the smooth contactless payment option at the end. Overall, a solid spot to try Dutch-style pancakes in a relaxed setting. Also love the outdoor of the restaurant!

Van Wonderen Stroopwafels is a trendy spot that has taken the traditional Dutch stroopwafel and given it a modern twist. The shop offers a variety of toppings such as marshmallows, raspberries, nuts, and coconut, all dipped in chocolate. The young staff members are well-versed in social media trends and are ready to create custom treats for customers.
Van Wonderen Stroopwafels is a sweet slice of Dutch heaven. Each stroopwafel is a perfect blend of crisp, caramel, and gooey delight—made fresh and irresistible. A charming, colorful spot where every bite feels like a joyful treat you’ll want to savor again and again.
Sara D — Google review
During our visit to Amsterdam, we stopped by Van Wonderen Stroopwafels — a charming and well-known spot that’s certainly touristy, but still worth a visit. Depending on the time of day, you might find a long line wrapped around the corner or be able to walk right in. We sampled a few flavors — butterscotch, hazelnut crunch, caramel, and crispy delight. Each was freshly made, warm, and layered with just the right balance of sweetness and crunch. Our favorite was definitely Crispy Delight, with its perfect texture and rich flavor. That said, it’s definitely on the pricey side — €11 for a small and €13 for a medium — but for a first-time experience, it felt like a fun (and tasty) indulgence that lived up to the hype.
Nifty D — Google review
A quick and convenient stop for a treat with a gooey caramel syrup in the centre, but be prepared for the price. The staff were very friendly and the stroopwafels were presented beautifully, making for a great photo opportunity. However, the prices are clearly set for tourists. While the experience was pleasant, the cost makes it a place I wouldn't return to.
Apriry L — Google review
Van Wonderen Stroopwafels, a beloved food icon in Amsterdam, may not have the highest rating, but it’s worth a visit. This charming spot boasts a long line, offering a delightful array of topping options that are both fun and not diabetic-friendly. The warm waffles are simply delectable, but the cold ones are a bit of a letdown. The friendly staff doles out everything onsite, creating an enticing aroma that draws you in. While there’s no proper seating area, you can find a bench to wait for your order. However, it can get quite cramped, making it less ideal for strollers or wheelchairs. One downside is the pricing. For a mini waffle, they charge a hefty €11, which is quite pricey. This might be the reason behind the low rating.
Foodie T — Google review
Cute little shop, not very big. When I went, it wasn’t crowded at all. The stroopwafel I ordered came topped with Oreo. I thought it was delicious for the first 2–3 bites😅😂, but after that it got a bit too sweet for me because the caramel filling was quite rich. One piece is best shared between 2–3 people.
Nitchanun W — Google review
They serve waffles in three different sizes, which i really like. The taste was good overall; the KitKat topping was delicious but the peanut butter was average.
Alaa A — Google review
This place is nothing but an overpriced tourist trap. I paid €11 for a stroopwafel that tasted no different than a €2 supermarket version – overly sweet, flat, and absolutely not worth the hype. What shocked me even more was the disgusting hygiene. The entire floor was sticky and covered in crumbs, the counters were filthy with syrup and toppings scattered everywhere, and the staff uniforms were stained. Employees were preparing food with their hair not properly tied back, leaning over open ingredients while talking and breathing directly onto the food. The stroopwafels are not kept in any hygienic or closed environment – they just sit exposed while staff and customers crowd inside. It’s clear this place focuses only on looking good for Instagram photos with chandeliers and “fancy” decor, but behind the counter it’s a complete mess. Watching my food being made in such an unhygienic environment was honestly disturbing. Amsterdam has far better options: at local markets like Albert Cuyp you’ll find stroopwafels that are fresh, authentic, hygienic, and sold at a fair price. Avoid Van Wonderen at all costs – overpriced, dirty, unsanitary, and disappointing.
Onur Y — Google review
Small shop with very friendly staff. We wanted to try fresh stroopwafels, and the taste is hardly comparable – not too sweet and nicely warm. You can also choose a topping, and we even took some home in a cute tin. Still a bit pricey.

Located near Amsterdam's Central Station, 'Hannekes Boom' is a laid-back dockside restaurant with a terrace that offers a variety of seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The beach hut-style venue is constructed from salvaged materials and has a universal appeal, attracting students arriving by bicycle as well as young professionals stepping off boats. The large tree-lined terrace is bustling in the summer months and remains busy in winter with activities like curling, live music, and a roaring fire.
Hannekes Boom is one of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. Tucked away by the water, it has a fantastic outdoor setting with beautiful views, perfect for relaxing with a drink in hand. The outdoor seating is especially lovely, with charming table decor that adds to the laid-back vibe. Inside, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a rustic, bohemian feel that makes you want to linger. It’s a great place for some drinks and sandwiches, whether you’re with friends or just unwinding on your own. The vibe is usually super chilled, which I absolutely love. All in all, Hannekes Boom is a great spot to escape the bustle of the city for a while and just enjoy the scenery and the good vibes. Highly recommended!

Amazing atmosphere with good vibes and nice views, it can be difficult to find a place to sit, but it's possible to split a table with someone if they're okay with it. There are a lot of beer options and also jars, which makes it easier to share. They also have vegan options, and we tried the Vegan Bitterballen and it was simply amazing! I can just recommend it.
Mariana P — Google review
This place is really a cool spot, good cold beer, good food and if you come by boat you can pull up to the dock, scan the QR code and the servers will bring your food and drinks right to your boat! It got a little crowded after we were there for a while, but all the locals were very friendly and welcoming, I was sorry we didn't make it back there.

Beautiful view. Fast service. The French onion soup was great. The nachos for me personally, I would not order again. But they are just like nachos every where here. Drinks were nice and cold. We will be back. We had a chicken sandwich which was good as well. Loved this place.

Absolutely idyllic! Great for an outdoor pint in a non-touristy atmosphere, with some shade under the trees, this place is tucked away between houseboat gardens, but mere minutes walk away from the Science Museum and city centre & perfect if you want a little oasis away from the bustle. They offer a solid beer selection, small plates and desserts, but it's all about the dreamy atmosphere. You can even dock your boat and order drinks there via QR code! Extra mention goes to the tables - every single one is a unique piece of art! Cannot recommend the place enough
Franziska K — Google review
The atmosphere was great, and the weather enhanced it. You can even go for a swim but I didn't. Foodwise. The snacks were good and flavorful, especially the Bitterballen and Nacho's. However, the main food (burger) was of poor quality and lacked flavor. Fries were great though. If they improve on the quality of the main dishes, I can definitely recommend this place. If you only go for drinks and snacks, also great!
Louis T — Google review
A very inviting spot for drinks and snacks with friends or coworkers, especially on those rare, warm sunny days in Amsterdam. The prices feel fair for a place that offers such a relaxing view over the river. Bonus: you can even park your boat here and order drinks, making it a unique and charming experience.
Afonso V — Google review
Perfect location is being wasted by the incompetent management! I have been here a couple of times already in the last years but my final visit made me to review eventually. Prices are high for what you get as a food/service. We ordered 4 cheeseburgers and 3 of them had cartilage pieces in them. How low is the meat quality. You order Cola and it tastes worse than the machine ones in McDonald's. Plus, the food and drink are served with paper/plastic cup and board. I am not visiting here soon. There are already better places by the water in south. The management team needs a fact check.

In addition to their famous Korean Fried Chicken and specialty beers, they also serve bibimbap, gimbap, and bingsu for those looking for more options. Located in the Pijp area near Marie Heinekenplein, this hotspot is known for its modern interior and friendly staff.
Great spot for Korean comfort food. The chicken is absolutely delicious, crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The portions are very generous, definitely good value for money. The menu has a nice variety of dishes and the soju selection is solid too. The atmosphere is lively and casual, perfect for a fun night out with friends. Service was quick and friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend if you’re craving great Korean fried chicken and drinks.

So amazing, reviewing before I even paid and left. Can’t say enough to describe how good the food was, but I’ll say it was the best chicken and bibimbap my boyfriend and I have ever had. Service was fast, portions were massive, music was banging, an absolute vibe at Sojubar and would highly recommend to anyone in Amsterdam. A great last meal of our trip, thank you!

A very gentle lady helped me with my order for my first time here, she was so patient and nice to me. We start with fried dumplings: AMAZING!!!!! Sooooo light and soooo good!!!! But then the masterpiece: the combo lunch with spicy sweet sauce… OMG was incredible!!!!! I cannot wait to come again!!!!! I need to try AAAAALLLL the other sauces!!
Giada S — Google review
Don’t order when you’re hungry!! we got too much chicken! It was super tasty 😋 I recommend the spicy sweet chicken one. The bingsu was a perfect finish and we could even take the leftovers home ❤️
Monic — Google review
The sweet and spicy fried chicken tastes great—it's a delicious Korean-style fried chicken. The fish cake, stone pot bibimbap, and rice rolls are all pretty standard and not particularly impressive. The milk shaved ice is tasty but also exactly what you'd expect.
Syixx F — Google review
Overall, a very underwhelming experience and certainly not worth the price. The food was fine but nothing memorable and definitely not deserving of any hype. The onion lover Korean fried chicken was drenched in sauce to the point it was hard to enjoy, while the beef bibimbap came with not enough hot sauce on the side. When we asked our server for a bit more, we were told it wasn’t possible because the kitchen was closed… it’s hot sauce. It doesn’t need to be cooked, it just needed to be poured out of a tube. The shaved ice dessert was the highlight of our meal, but even that was diminished by sour, unripe mango that tasted far from fresh. I wouldn’t come back to Sojubar and wouldn’t recommend this place to others.

Great spot for spice lovers! The spiciest dish is seriously hot—so be careful. Surprisingly, our favorite part was the ice cream dessert. It’s incredibly rich, full of different flavors, and honestly huge!

Juicy Korean style fried chicken. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside, the chicken is well fried. They have several soju drinking games that you can order and play. A very nice breakfast place in the centre of Amsterdam. The selected dishes were freshly prepared and tasted very good. The scrambled eggs were very creamy and delicious, the Bircher muesli was perfect in consistency and great in flavour. The service was very friendly, attentive and quick. Not an insider tip, but definitely a recommendation for a very tasty brunch.

10/10. The food was amazing and the staff was the best! As an American and a serious breakfast person, I often find it tough to get that perfect breakfast experience while traveling abroad—but Bakers & Roasters absolutely nailed it. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was warm, attentive, and welcoming. The food? Exceptional. The eggs were cooked to perfection—light, fluffy, and flavorful. The pancakes? Presented like royalty and tasted even better. And let’s talk about the freshly squeezed orange juice—exactly how I like it, bright and refreshing. Every detail, from the plating to the service, made this a 5-star experience. If you’re in Amsterdam and love breakfast as much as I do, this is the spot. Don’t miss it!

A great New Zealand inspired brunch restaurant. They’ve existed for many years, and the service has been good whenever I visited. Food doesn’t take long to arrive, and the portions will definitely fill you up! The prices are a bit higher than overall in Amsterdam, but the quality makes up for that. You get what you pay for, and I haven’t ever had a bad meal here. The music is also nice and soft so it’s easy to talk. Sometimes waits can get long over the weekend, especially in the summer, so an online reservation helps.

Great white chocolate sesame loaf! This was a unique bake for me that I definitely haven’t seen before. While it may not sound particularly groundbreaking, the loaf was a good texture and the icing was wonderful. The taste of white chocolate truly does come through, and the cut of the slightly less sweet loaf works perfectly to balance this out.

Delicious coffee, really tasty. I have ordered a flat white and a rose leaf loaf. Really happy with my choices, the loaf was soft and had an intense flavour. The coffee was strong but at the same time was sweet, not bitter at all. Great place for an amazing coffee.

Popped in for a quick cup of tea and walked away with a (I’m definitely spelling this wrong) Hoijicha latte! Was an absolutely delicious seasonal special and something that I had never tasted before. Always love a place that can bring a unique and vibrant taste to my palette, another tea ticked off the list! Very much recommend this place for a sit down cup of joe as the variety of roasts they had were amazing. I’m scunnered I didn’t try the coffee as the beans on show were nothing like we get in Glasgow. Full of families, professionals and smiling folk enjoying lovely cakes and great hot drinks, pop by if you are in the area. Decor smashing, huge deck outside with plenty of comfy seating and a bunch of helpful and happy staff that were accommodating to my horrendous pronouncing skills :) Cheers

Small little spot and minimalistic vibe but cool in its own way. Was one guy there just making good convo and pouring coffee for each person. Tried this espresso that was super different and had this fruity note to it that I’ve never tried before. Stop by if in the area.

I don't understand how people think this is a cozy place, it's not! It's inhospitable without a character, very unwelcoming. The chairs are very uncomfortable, it's like asking you to leave asap. The only thing they welcome you to do is to give them the tip 😆 The coffee was ok but the slice of cake was horribly dry and I had to throw it away. They keep the cakes outside in this small window. There is no service, you even have to put your dirty cup inside the buckets.

Had such a lovely experience during my visit to Amsterdam while I was traveling from the US. The coffee is delicious! I think it was one of the best flat whites I have ever had. To make things ever better, the baristas were so friendly and patiently explained everything. I went in twice because I enjoyed it so much. The coffee literally tastes like cherries! When I went in- they had different espresso offerings for each day so it was so fun to compare the two flat whites I had. I also got their loaves while I was there. Very moist and delicate. This is probably a coffee shop I will miss dearly

Got an iced hojicha on the last day they do iced drinks (27 September). It was good and my first time trying hojicha (tastes like matcha a red bean). But after that date they only do hot which is quite disappointing. The vegan loaves are good. They have a lot of coffee selection as well but no seating and set up of cafe is quite weird but staff is extremely kind.
Federica A — Google review
We loved this place! I had the white chocolate matcha and my partner had a cappuccino, both were amazing. What really stood out was the atmosphere; it felt like we were part of the café rather than just visitors. The space is completely open with no separation between the staff area and where customers sit, it’s like you’re behind the counter with them. That setup, combined with the friendly team and the cool, laid-back vibe, makes it such a special spot. Definitely one of our favorite coffee stops in Amsterdam!
Catherine R — Google review
Rum baba is my neighbourhood coffee shop. I really enjoy this place for a quick to go coffee, they make fantastic flat whites, and they really know their coffee. There is very limited seating, so I have never sat inside and there is other places on the street that provide better and more affordable pasteries so I really see this as a take away coffee spot with some of the best coffee in the city. I have however had mixed results with their beans, I bought a bag of one of their diamond blends and it tasted very chemically flavoured, I couldn't explain it but it was very expensive and I had to throw away most the bag even after serving my friends some. It smelt very strong of almost candy I am not sure what it was. But all of their yellow bag espresso beans are fantastic.
Euro R — Google review
This place really cares about their coffee. Extremely high quality espresso, own roasted beans. Reccomend trying a few different beans and taking some home. This is NOT a brunch restaurant masquerading as a coffee shop, it is somewhere you come for something properly special.

The place in general is fine no big deal about the food and atmosphere. But the waiter would have been nicer if he can smile a bit. And it all gets worse when we (4 persons) wanted to pay separately and he says if you do that we have to add 1€ per person, I said I never heard about that before, he replied everyone has his own rules(super rude).

Good place for an emergency meal when you don’t find a spot. The staff is very friendly although you can tell that they’re a little bit stretched because this piece is so small that only accommodates three people working, including the chef. Overall, we had a good experience and the meal where is good, although the soup was too salty
L G — Google review
Firstly, the croque madame was insanely good - like we were so surprised at how delicious it was. We ended up eating here as Chun further down the street was a 1hr wait (and that was before you were seated). The food here was good but it was very slow. Just looking back at my photos the time stamps show a 20minute wait between receiving our coffees and receiving our toasties - not including how long it took for the server to take our order in the first place and bring us the bill at the end. We were probably there for around an hour anyway. Staff seem over stretched despite it being a small location. Good if you have time to wait.
Alisha — Google review
We spontaneously visited this place to have a late breakfast as all other places were packed in the same street. There were still lots of tables available here so we gave it a shot. From the beginning it was a bit uncomfortable as the music was super loud. For a breakfast café it should be toned down a bit. It also took a looong time for the staff to come over and take our order. Even though there were only very few customers. We had a cappuccino, sandwiches with chicken & bacon and one with tuna melt. The bread was not the kind we expected- we thought it would be toasted. It was difficult to eat as the slices were huge as you can see in my photo. The chicken sandwich was alright but the tuna melt was not good. I didn't like it at all. Also, the cutlery was dirty and my Partner's knife was damaged. Another customer also asked for a new knife. The cappuccino came with sugar but one of the was already ripped open ?! Does the staff not check what they serve to customers?? Very weird. We asked for a new one but overall it wasn't comfortable and overpriced. I don't recommend coming here.

Talking personally, this is more of a lunch spot than dinner, although both would work. It's got that chain feel but it's done well and as so many of u know, it's often a tricky question when you're away in other places figuring where to go for lunch - especially of you're thinking about dinner out too.
