Italian restaurant
Pasta & Cuore, located in Mt Eden, is a charming Italian restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. The owner and executive chef, Stefania Ugolini, who hails from Bologna, brings her expertise and passion for quality ingredients to every dish. The restaurant's enchanting courtyard setting provides a delightful ambiance for enjoying the carefully curated menu. Guests can savor fresh pasta made using traditional methods and indulge in classic Italian sauces.
Pasta & Cuore is a gem! The food is simply outstanding – especially the Spaghetti Gorgonzola with blue cheese and walnut. It’s rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious – easily one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a long time. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere had a cozy, authentic charm that made the whole experience even better. Loved everything about it – will definitely be coming back for more!

Food was as close as it could get to authentic Italian! We loved the chefs special ravioli with truffle sauce and hope that is something they add to the menu, the meatballs were on point and a good portion size. It would have been nice to be given a bit more bread to scoop the yummy sauce as Italians do. Service was quick and friendly, we loved it and look forward to coming here again!
Manuri M — Google review
Agreed to what most of the people say, pastas here are fresh and this place really lived up the hype. Upon arrival we were greeted and directed to our seat. We arrived just after the peak service at around 8pm, on a Friday, but the place is still relatively full. Food came in quickly after ordering and they are just as good as how most people would describe them here. Every single dish was on point and we cannot wait to try more!
Kathrine — Google review
Delicious freshly made pasta in a beautiful Gorgonzola and walnut sauce. A lovely glass of wine to go with it. The salad was less inspiring, but it is the middle of winter. Thoughtful, friendly staff made for a pleasant meal for one.
Kate B — Google review
Best pasta I’ve ever had. Unbelievably extraordinary in taste. Delicately seasoned flavor. Perfectly bouncy tagliatelle. The one-of-a-kind deliciousness found only in Auckland!
Yuanling L — Google review
Pasta & Cuore was such a treat. You can tell the quality of the pasta from the very first bite. It’s great to see it being made fresh in-house, and even better that you can buy some to take home. The venue is very tidy. No complaints from me. While it feels to me that it would be better suited to smaller groups (up to four), although we did see some larger tables when we were there. We had the Spaghetti all’Amatriciana and the Tortellini in Brodo. The latter was a touch under-seasoned for my taste, but still flavourful overall with some perfectly cooked pasta. The tiramisu was a great way to top off our meal. It was beautifully presented, and I really liked the punch of coffee in it. Well worth a visit!
Sang K — Google review
Went here for lunch and had a bowl of pasta and a coffee — both were delicious. The pasta was super fresh, you can tell they make it in-house, and the sauce was simple but really tasty. Nothing over the top, just solid, well-made food. The coffee was strong (in a good way) and went well with everything. The place itself is small and cosy, with a nice relaxed feel. Not too loud — just a good spot to chill and eat properly made food. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it didn’t take forever to get served either. Would definitely come back, maybe for dinner next time.

Restaurant
Baduzzi is a trendy Italian restaurant located in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland. The vibrant and retro-chic atmosphere makes it a favorite among locals. It's the little sister restaurant to the renowned fine-dining spot, The Grove. While they don't take reservations, the cozy indoor-outdoor eatery offers a gluten-free menu and is known for its modern takes on Italian cuisine.
What a treat! Baduzzi is a must-visit in Auckland. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the classic Italian atmosphere and the truly exceptional service. The staff, many of whom were Italian, were friendly, quick, and incredibly knowledgeable about every dish. For our table of nine, we went with a selection of shared plates, and there was more than enough food to go around. Every dish was fantastic—we especially loved the cheese board and desserts. We had a tough decision between here and a Brazilian BBQ, but Baduzzi absolutely did not disappoint. I can't wait to go back!

Upscale Italian restaurant located in the trendy waterfront of Auckland. The meals were tasty and well presented. I had the vegetarian pasta with pumpkin filling. It was delicious but was a bit light for size (see pics). I needed to order another bowl of bread in addition to my pumpkin pasta dish. My partner had the eggplant side dish and meatballs and was very satisfied. The “deconstructed” tiramisu was lovely, but untraditional.
Bruce P — Google review
Had such a great time at Baduzzi! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for both a casual meal or a special night out. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly without being over the top. The food was outstanding , every dish was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The meatballs are a must-try, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Overall, it felt like a really genuine Italian dining experience with a nice balance of elegance and comfort. Definitely a spot I’d recommend and can’t wait to go back!
Josh J — Google review
We had the Cavolo Nero Bottoni, Tiramiau, Gluten-Free Buttered Maltagliati, and Torta Caprese, everything was absolutely delicious! My husband is coeliac, so we always struggle to find an Italian restaurant with great gluten-free options, but this place was perfect. The presentation was beautiful, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the staff were so friendly. Definitely the best Italian dining experience we’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to go back! 🇮🇹✨

We had an outstanding dinner at Baduzzi, made truly unforgettable by Stella. From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond in every possible way. Attentive without being intrusive, warm, professional, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great time. Two of us work in hospitality and we have pretty high expectations, but Stella exceeded every one of them. Her knowledge, timing, and energy were spot on, and she managed to strike that perfect balance between efficiency and personality that’s so rare to find. While the food was exceptional (as always at Baduzzi), Stella was without a doubt the highlight of our evening. She is the epitome of what great service should be, and an absolute credit to the restaurant.

This is my third dining experience at this establishment and it gets better every time. I had the lamb meatballs which were 10 out of 10 accompanied with the focaccia. For main, I had the tortellini which could Quite possibly be the best meal I’ve ever had. The meal was absolutely superb. If only we weren’t so full, we could have had some desert which I’m sure would have been just as great. Our server whom I did not get their name was attentive and friendly. The food was brought out incredibly quickly. I cannot rate this establishment enough.

Dined at baduzzi last night and had a fab experience! Such a warm and comfortable atmosphere. All staff were very friendly and welcoming! Our waiter Daniel was super attentive, had fantastic recommendations for dinner/drinks and provided amazing service! Food and drinks were 10/10! Highly recommend 😊

Honestly a five star experience. Exceptional food, Michelin Star level, knowledgeable friendly service, especially with the wine recommendations (next level!), all with an Italian home-cooked vibe atmosphere. Loved the kitchen-view table and Iralian server!!

Amano is a trendy Italian restaurant and bakery located in the vibrant Britomart area of downtown Auckland. The restaurant offers a hip, bohemian atmosphere with its wood-and-brick interior. Guests can enjoy locally sourced Italian cuisine prepared from scratch in the open kitchen, featuring fresh produce and expertly made pasta. The adjoining bakery provides an array of pastries, piadinas, and pizza slices to go, along with house sourdough loaves.
Busy place and very popular. Really nice decor. I had no booking but got a table without any wait. It's a great spot. Excellent service! The breakfast menu is interesting, with different options to the usual. Coffee is good. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Auckland.
Christine A — Google review
Definitely a five-star restaurant you should book in advance. We went for lunch at 12 on Saturday and it was almost fully booked. Both the kawahai seafood and the spaghetti pasta were excellent, we finished every bite! For drinks, I highly recommend trying their signature options, whether cold or hot. I’ll definitely be coming back for any occasion.
ALEX — Google review
Nice and cozy restaurant/cafe/bakery spot. Tried out their pasta for lunch. A friend recommended their Scampi pasta and did not regret. We also got their Pappardelle, Lamb Ragu. Decent serving portion. We also checked out their bakery section afterwards and got a Creme Brûlée donut as a sweet treat. The donut was packed with creamy custard inside along with the burnt sugar on the outside which balanced out the sweetness. Definitely recommend if you’re visiting Auckland and looking for a chill place for lunch or dinner.
Danny L — Google review
Been hearing about this place for sometime. So we booked lunch today for a very special occasion. The food indeed was delicious. I got to taste a bit of everyone's order lol. Venue isn't bad at all. Was really busy I can see. A bit crowded for the size and they can spruce the place up a bit in my opinion. After all everyone's paying sort of top dollar. Service was overall good and attentive ... could use a bit more smiles guys. I found corkage fee for bringing your own small birthday day cake a bit over the top especially when we aren't asking for extra plates or cutlery. Going back? For the food...definitely yes. otherwise hmmm...

Wow a real authentic Italian restaurant serving a fantastic menu. The sauces were heavenly and could even meet Michelin standards. The service is perfect and friendly as well as helpful. Atmosphere is like being in Italy 🇮🇹 but we are in 🇳🇿 . Abit pricey but worth every single penny 👌 👌👌👍👍👍

This restaurant more than lives up to all the great reviews. The setting, location, interior, and vibe are perfectly in tune with each other. The food is incredibly flavorful and beautifully presented. We had breakfast here, and you could truly say it’s a breakfast for champions! If you’re staying in Auckland, this place is an absolute must-visit.
Joris J — Google review
OMG!!! This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve ever visited in my life!!! Such a beautiful spacious spot with really tall windows that lits the place with natural sunlight but yet dim to give it this beautiful aesthetic n relaxed feel. They have an open concept kitchen where you could see all those professionals preparing the food 🤩 Menu is limited but from simple classic plates they create an elevated dish! You MUST VISIT when you’re in Auckland!
Meril A — Google review
Excellent food and perfect ambiance. I had the best breakfast Mushroom, sourdough poached egg, Parmesan cheese. Very creamy and delicious. The coffee was fantastic. The only thing that concerned me a bit was they gave me a bar seat and I was sitting in front of the timber column and I saw 3 insects crawling to my plate and I guess it must be from the timber column. I did mention it to the server who said they usually do pest control. I hope they take it seriously. One of the highlights was their bakery next to the restaurant with fantastic croissants and bakery items.

Italian restaurant
Prego Restaurant is a well-established Italian eatery offering a mix of traditional and contemporary dishes in a lively and relaxed setting. The restaurant caters to families with a dedicated children's menu, ice cream for dessert, and entertainment such as games and coloring activities. While it has a family-friendly atmosphere early in the evening, there is an expectation of appropriate behavior. The restaurant is known for its popular classics and also offers options for vegans.
I won't give a 5/5. Instead a 6 or even a 7 out of 5 for the food and service. Great food, especially those beer battered oysters- oh wow. And the great service, simply awesome.
Dineshalingam K — Google review
Lamb was cooked incorrectly, medium rare instead well done and took long to fix. The food tasted decent. Be aware of long wait times and hard to find parking spots.
Jennifer C — Google review
Enjoy a lovely lunch with friends. The food is amazing, especially the pizzas, which are hard but delicious. Almost everything here is really good.
Pwint S — Google review
I’ll start with the positives. The atmosphere was excellent — a beautiful, inviting space that immediately gave the impression we were in for a great dining experience. The wine list was also outstanding, clearly curated with care and offering some top-quality choices. The broccolini was the highlight of the meal and truly deserves full marks. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The food overall felt disjointed. My pasta was overly salty (thankfully I only ordered the entrée size), and the pizza was soft, undercooked, and lacking in flavor. Even the tomato sauce and basil were dull, which left the dish flat. The four of us shared it, and all agreed it missed the mark. Other dishes were similarly underwhelming, with little depth or balance. The initial service was really warm and welcoming, the mid service felt disconnected, with no real warmth or sense of engagement, when we had concluded our meal there was more of an attempt at some small humor.— but it felt more like it was “just a job” for the most part. (But this could also be my opinion working in the luxury/high end sector of hospitality) It’s a shame, because the setting and wine list suggest so much potential. Unfortunately, the food and service didn’t measure up, and I won’t be returning.
Aaron G — Google review
Since 1986! Who else can claim that in Auckland? And second owner operator since 1991. Need any other reason to come here and try? How about their 5 cheese pizza - yes not Quattro here 😁 Amazing kitchen and professional front of house staff that I thought was simply most impressive. Yes not your cheap pizza pasta Italian food joint, but that’s not what Ponsonby does or anyone needs. Make it count when you go out. Plus they have some free parking spaces, yes in Ponsonby and yes good luck with getting one, but still that’s very unusual and worth a note here.

Delicious food! I had the Prego Pie, and it was absolutely delicious, flavourful, hearty, and incredibly filling. The pie was perfectly crispy, and everything on the plate complemented each other beautifully. It felt like the ultimate comfort food. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes from the menu! The customer service was excellent as well. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better.

Where do you start?! This place was outstanding! The service was absolutely amazing followed by the food that was delicious 😋 I will definitely be back next time i am in Auckland!
Lachlan I — Google review
Having heard from some friends that Prego is one of the best Italian spots in central Auckland, we were keen to give it a try! It definitely lives up to the hype! Getting there was easy—though depending on the time and day, parking might be straightforward or involve a short walk. The venue is surprisingly spacious and seats a good number of diners. According to their website, they don’t take reservations, so we walked in for dinner on a Monday evening. Even though it was still busy, we were seated right away. The staff were attentive, friendly, and quick to top up our waters throughout the night. For two people, we ordered the calamari fritti ($28), linguine alla marinara ($42), and filetto ($48). The standout for me was the linguine—partly because I’m a sucker for seafood, but also because the pasta was perfectly cooked and generously loaded with prawns, mussels, cockles, and tuna. The seafood was beautifully tender and fresh, adding real depth to the dish. The filetto was served with potatoes au gratin that were crisp on the outside and beautifully layered—absolutely delicious. The steak itself was topped with chimichurri and a rich jus, and we were pleased to receive it exactly as ordered: a perfect medium rare. No complaints—just a perfectly executed dish. The calamari fritti was also cooked beautifully—light and tender and perfectly paired with some greens and lemon. To end the night, we couldn’t resist trying the tiramisu ($18), especially after seeing a few go past to other tables. I’m glad we did—easily one of the best we’ve had. The sponge was nicely soaked with espresso and marsala, and the balance between the whipped egg and mascarpone cream layers was spot on. Rich, but not overly sweet—something many tiramisus struggle to achieve. Dining here is definitely a treat, but it’s an experience worth having. We’re already looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu!

Farina is a stylish restaurant in Auckland that offers an elevated Italian dining experience. The menu features a variety of refined Italian dishes, including pizza, pasta, and meat and cheese plates. The restaurant is known for its dedication to blending traditional Italian flavors with modern twists, creating a vibrant and diverse menu that caters to all tastes. Farina's atmosphere is as inviting as its food, with the owners delivering genuine Italian hospitality in lively surroundings.
Farina is hands down serving up some of the best Italian food I've ever had. The burrata was creamy perfection, and the cone pizza was genius. But what really stole the show was the pasta - it was like a taste explosion in my mouth. The pizza was also life-changing (no exaggeration!). Every dish was expertly crafted, and the service was top-notch. If you're looking for solid, authentic Italian food, Farina is the place to go. 5 stars isn't enough - I'd give it 10 if I could!
Stephen T — Google review
An unplanned visit that turned into one of the best dining experiences I have had in Auckland. We were lucky to get a table at Farina, and every dish exceeded expectations. The meatballs were simply the best I have ever tasted - perfectly textured with a hint of crunch from a few nuts and packed with flavour. I only wish I had captured a photo of that perfect cross-section! Even the mocktail was crafted with precision and balance. To finish, the cannoli was exceptional - creamy, rich, and just the right level of sweetness. A truly delightful experience from start to finish. Can't wait to come back to try other dishes!

Great vibes on a Friday night! Food was yumm, service was great, good cocktails, had to wait for a bit, but it was busy, so that’s ok! Recommend the oysters and any pizzas, they were yumm!

My partner went with her colleagues initially and since then has been saying all good things about the restaurant so she brought me here. 10/10, service was excellent, attentive, food was fast, fresh and delish and cocktails were tasty also. We loved every single dish, will be back to try more :)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If I could, I’d give 20 stars!) We came here for dinner and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The wine was excellent, but what really stood out was the incredible service. I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who looked after us: he was outstanding. He explained the menu with such honesty, knowledge, and enthusiasm, and it was clear he had a deep understanding of both the dishes and the restaurant itself. We were unsure what to order because everything looked so good and we couldnt decide as we wanted to try everything. he guided us perfectly, giving thoughtful recommendations and going above and beyond to make sure we chose what suited us best. Even though the restaurant was full, he was attentive, quick, and genuinely warm smiling the whole time and clearly enjoying what he does. It’s rare to find service like that these days. The food was just as impressive. We had a meat dish (piatto con carne) that was one of the best mains I’ve ever had in Auckland, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The linguine pasta was also delicious. But the star for me was the olive ascolane: even better than the ones I’ve had in Italy. For dessert, the cannoli was outstanding, the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal. Even when it came time to pay, the staff were friendly, accommodating, and made us feel welcome right up until the very end. We truly enjoyed every moment of our experience here and will definitely be back. Highly, highly recommended!
CLAUDIA T — Google review
The restaurant was very busy and loud. The dinning area is quite tight. The staff who served our table wasn’t very friendly and professional. He can’t recommend us any dishes and when we showed him the dish photos on the google he kept saying “I don’t know what is that.” When we seek staff for help and when we saw him he also avoided eye contact with us and walked away without showing interest to help us. Only the manager was able to look after us and every table was all under his control. He’s very friendly and professional. If possible the staffs definitely needs more training by him. Food wise the pizza was amazingly delicious! The veal we ordered was dry and too sweet. You needs book a table online.

I enjoyed my time here. The food was good and I like that they balanced flavours really well. Nothing was to overpowering which I quite enjoyed especially when it came to the ceviche. To add, the service I had was exceptional and the person who served me was knowledgeable when I had questions and also very kind.

Decided to celebrate my wife's 61st at Farina after having come across them during the Auckland Italian festival earlier in the year. Great ambience, attentive, knowledgeable, and humorous staff. Fantastic food. We started with a platter of olives that consisted of different varieties, plus pickled garlic. The osso bucco on risotto was one of the evening's special dishes and I had to have that and paired it with the Chianti. Suffice to say it was delectable. The wife debated between the parmigiana, gnocchi or a meat platter... and settled for gnocchi and she loved it. Topped off the meal with dessert - panacotta with almonds, cannoli with pistachio cream, and an espresso. Overall, a great dining experience.

Pici is a charming restaurant where the menu changes seasonally, offering flavorful dishes and a chance to watch pasta being made in front of you. The cheesy cacio e pepe is a must-try for comfort food lovers. The service is efficient, with helpful staff guiding food and wine choices. While the outdoor seating may come with some street noise, the delicious food and quick service make up for it.
We came here as a family with three kids and while there was no high chair fir our toddler, the staff made great effort to accommodate us. The food and drinks were really good. Our favourite was the octopus, which was tender and delicious. The pasta were delicious too but some of them were a bit gluggy. But our finished on a really high note with the amazing cheesecake. Overall, it was a great experience for the whole family.

The restaurant is quite small with an open kitchen. Food was yummy and served very quickly. Reminded us of being in Italy, though the portions were smaller. Red wine recommended by wait staff was delicious.
Derek K — Google review
My fourth visit here, this time with family to try the spring menu. We had the pear and honey special with focaccia, lamb shoulder pappardelle and the cacio e pepe. Everything was so yum, but the pappardelle was the standout for me. The staff were, as always, warm and helpful with great recommendations from the specials and wine menu. Always a great experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s on the next seasonal menu!

Had a great evening at Pici last Saturday the food, service, and atmosphere were all truly impressive. The fettuccine anchovy was a standout: rich, bold, and perfectly balanced. A dish that truly lingers in the memory. I also loved the selection of organic wines, with excellent pairing suggestions from the team. Sitting at the bar gave us a front-row seat to the kitchen in action — efficient, passionate, and inspiring. Overall, a delightful experience. I’d definitely return great vibes, delicious food, and a team that clearly cares.

Nestled in the stunning St Kevins Arcade building. Beautiful venue and stunning wines as well. The porchetta was amazing first time i have tried this and i now need to go make it at home. Cacio e pepe has been on my wish list for years stoked to have finally tried it.

I have to be honest my expectations are way to high for this place. Ive been wanting to try Pici for the longest time, tonight we picked this place to celebrate my brother’s birthday. The fettuccine with anchovy is way too salty for our liking I know anchovies are already salty but it’s excessive. The cacio e pepe was okay meh, not something that I would remember and rave about.

We decided to go to Pici for Matariki night, and it was an amazing experience. We had the set menu every single course was delicious, and the service was impeccable, we were lucky enough to get the table upstairs, and we loved it! Highly raccomanded!

You arrive in heaven, meet God, kiss your gramma, and then they hand you this focaccia. The first bite of the crust brought tears to my eyes—divine. Everything was delicious. Plates to share (you don’t want to) and great timing from course to course. Some unique local wines are available and the semifredda was to die for. We celebrated our anniversary and would gladly do so again! Reservation may be helpful, we showed up at 545 and there was only one table available for walk up.

Non Solo Pizza, located in Parnell, Auckland, has been a beloved spot for locals and tourists since 1997. The restaurant offers a charming indoor-outdoor dining experience with a beautiful courtyard and sophisticated main bar. Owned by Antonio Crisci and Vivienne Farnell, the pizzeria and wine bar serves updated versions of Southern Italian favorites alongside an extensive menu of Italian fare.
Our number one go to place in Parnell. Awesome Italian food from appetizers to main to dessert. You just don’t wanna miss any of the courses. It would be otherwise incomplete and short changing ourselves from a perfect dining experience. Wait staff is super friendly and attentive. The Courtyard is cherry on top. Thank you non solo team!

They made a delicious pasta out of simple ingredients, which was impressive. The Prosciutto Crudo pizza was generously topped and really tasty too. The calamari could’ve been a bit crispier, but dipping it in the tangy mayo balanced out the richness and made it quite enjoyable

Food was delightful. Every single dish was delicious. I took my best friend out for her special birthday dinner and she absolutely loved. I had the porchetta, it’s was super crispy and sauce was beautiful, but the beef carpaccio and the carrots was just amazing, the highlight of the night. Service was good as always, all staff super friendly and helpful.

Absolutely delicious food and decent service. The food couldn’t have been better absolutely chefs kiss as always! Service was good though was a bit disappointed that when the waitress poured our water she spilt quite a bit over the table and said she’d be back to clean it up but never did so we ended up using a serviette. Atmosphere was nice. Overall a really good experience. Definitely recommend if you want good food! Just bear in mind that it is pricey

JACK WAS A LEGEND! From the moment I walked in with a massive cake and he asked if he could take it and put it in the fridge for me, to the absolute banter in helping us decide what to eat and drink to even grabbing the cake and putting candles in it then singing along with my friends, his service absolutely made my birthday elite. Thank you Jack! And the food and drinks were so yum, will 100% be back!

The venue's red-and-white checkered tables are highly sought after for people-watching while enjoying signature dishes like the popular polenta chips.
Was recommended to visit Coco’s by a colleague of mine who’s an Auckland local. And it did not disappoint!! The service and atmosphere is great and the food really delicious! Can see why the locals love this place.

Came here with a friend recently for dinner. The food was nice and well presented if a bit small in price. The servers were nice but the bartender was rather indifferent and dismissive to me when we first entered and inquired about dining options. The price of the food here is also quite high but for a fine dining experience its nice. Good for a one time try or if you enjoy fancy food but I won't be returning anytime soon.

This place is always buzzing with people, even late at night. I’d heard a rumour a while ago that it might be closing down &...I hope that’s not true! The staff are all super friendly and make you feel like an old friend, which makes the whole experience really enjoyable. I ordered a drink and a pizza during Happy Hour. The Margherita pizza had that beautiful wood-fired look and a lovely thick, bready base. It was so authentic that I couldn’t believe it was only $15. I also tried Coco’s Sangria...fruity, but with a nice depth and a hint of bitterness that made it stand out. It’s $14 a glass and definitely worth trying!

We hired out the courtyard area for a birthday dinner and had an amazing time. The service was phenomenal, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were catered for and always checked up on us despite it being a very busy night. The food and drinks were also delicious and everything came out just at the right time. We were very impressed by the quality of service and would definitely recommend this place. The space was also very nice and they decorated and set up the tables beautifully. Loved the feature of being able to order for yourself through your phone, so our guests were able to order any time and we never had to leave our area. Will absolutely come back!

Dined at Andiamo for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the food, and interior of the restaurant. The menu has great variety and the food was delicious with generous portion sizes. We may have caught the wait staff on an off day, but we feel that there could be some improvements with staff avoiding eye contact and huddling together chatting by the bar. However, this didn't hugely impact the enjoyment of the dining at Andiamo.

We went there for lunch. And in hindsight didn't order well. We ordered from the sharing menu, thinking that these were dishes to share, the were the size of side plates. Cesar salad which was average, squid which was tender, but plain. Cod and crab meat balls which we didn't like at all. We also had some oysters and fries, sadly no wow factor for anything. What was delicious was the afigato and Tiramisu to finish. Service was good and friendly, maybe some guidance with the menu would have helped

Very sadly did not enjoy this one though I had high hopes. The staff weren't very attentive we had to wave them down a few times to place an order. We had the piadina and the pane frito. The sauce for the piadina was just.. not good. It tasted very strange and the flavours just weren't good together. Couldn't have more than a bite. The pane frito was drowning in too much cream - though thankfully the flavours were palatable (unlike the piadina). Given the price and food, it's unlikely I would return.

Nestled on the vibrant Ponsonby Road, Gusto Italiano is a charming Italian eatery that exudes classic charm with its iconic red-and-white checkered tablecloths. This delightful restaurant offers an authentic taste of Italy, featuring a menu brimming with beloved dishes such as woodfired pizzas and freshly made pasta.
Gusto ranks among my all-time favorite restaurants in Auckland. Whether it's a quick lunch meeting or a family dinner, we always enjoy dining at Gusto. I particularly love the Pumpkin Gnocchi di Zucca—so light and flavorful—along with the Caprese paired with a side of garlic pizza bread. Yummmm Amano, the owner, is always a delight and welcoming. I like to book online so I never have to wait or miss out.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit an Italian restaurant with my friends, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The ambiance of the place was warm and inviting, making it a comfortable spot for a casual gathering. The service was attentive, and the staff ensured we were well taken care of throughout our meal. As for the food, it was flavorful and satisfying. While I wouldn't rank this as the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to, it definitely deserves a spot among the top ones. I didn’t explore the entire menu, but the dishes I tried left a good impression. The risotto, in particular, was delightful, prepared with fresh clams that added a burst of flavor. It seemed like my friends enjoyed their meals as well, which added to the positive experience. I am keen to return with my family to sample more items from the menu and further explore what the restaurant has to offer. Until then, I would rate this place 4 out of 5 stars. I look forward to revisiting my review after my next visit and possibly discovering more reasons to love this restaurant.

Gusto have been here for ages and good to see that it is still popular. The pasta we had were very good and well presented. We had the Ragu and the Gustose, both were not very saucy and well cooked. We also had the Tre Signori pizza and that was well done as well, perfect base.

This Italian restaurant was outstanding! I visited with my partner and her friends, as they wanted to enjoy an Italian meal on a Sunday evening. We ordered two pasta dishes and two medium-sized pizzas. For pasta, we chose their signature Fettuccine and Risotto. Both were excellent, but the Risotto stood out the most. It was perfectly seasone, not too salty, with a slightly overcooked texture that enhanced the seafood flavour, creating a delightful experience with every bite. The Fettuccine, a classic Italian dish, was also delicious and well-prepared. The two pizzas were equally impressive. While I can’t recall their exact names, as shown in the pictures, they were perfectly cheesy, wood-fired to perfection, and absolutely flavourful. We had a fantastic time here, and the service was exceptional. The waitstaff were friendly and kind, adding to the overall great experience. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine!

Walking past the place reminded me of the unacceptable service and encounter I had at this Italian Restaurant 2 years ago. I walked in with a booking for dinner, sat down at the table, waited and noticed there’s no menu, which I did not mind. I went up to the front desk and asked for a menu kindly, the staff said “WE ARE NOT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT(pause…)WE WILL BRING THE MENU TO YOU” You could have said “please wait, we will bring the menu to you” The rude behaviour ruined my appetite, it is very unprofessional, very sad to see it happen in nz. There cannot be any excuse for that, I’m a sane adult, I can tell when someone has good intentions or not. I hope the service has improved now. The food was okay.

I visited this place with my little sister and my boyfriend on Tuesday night. It was a last minute thing and we made a booking for 9 pm because we wanted to give the restaurant an option to cancel our booking if their kitchen was due to close. However, our booking was accepted and when we entered the restaurant, a female staff gave us the coldest stare. She looked at us with a very angry face, so angry that we felt very unwelcomed and as if we had done something wrong. She was frowning so much I almost walked back out. When my boyfriend told her about the reservation, she just said "what?" back to him. The manager or the owner, or whoever it was then appeared and told us we can take a seat. From then, we could see the female staff and the manager discussing something but obviously very poor customer service to discuss about the customers in a unhappy manner right where they can see you? At this point I wanted to leave, but we had starved so long so we really needed to eat. We then ordered a few things. The service attitude was very poor and rude, and even the food was very disappointing. It LOOKED really good. The calamari was weird - it was like the calamari had just been dipped in breadcrumbs and served like that without frying or anything. Just weird. The pasta was undercooked. UNDERCOOKED. The pizza was soggy. It was straight up soggy. I could not believe this was one of the best rated restaurants. If you did not want people coming in at 9pm, you can just tell them kitchen's closed or something. Worst experience. Horrible night. Never going back, never recommending to any of my friends.

All in all a great night out for Belated Father's Day.

The place is beautiful, both the view and the aesthetics, and the bathroom is charming. As for the food, I thought it was good, but we had a problem with a side dish that didn't arrive with the main course. Anyway, the staff apologized, and we decided to cancel the side dish.

The food was amazing - the salami pizza was delicious, the prawn pasta was juicy with a rich, thick sauce, and the pork cutlet was perfectly crispy and paired beautifully with the apple & pear mostarda. However, the service was a bit of a letdown. Our waiter seemed quite grumpy throughout. When he came to take our drink order, we mentioned we’d like to order drinks a little later, but he looked annoyed and walked off quickly. He didn’t seem happy when we asked for a takeaway container or when we said we’d like to share one dessert. We were also celebrating a birthday, and although we selected “birthday” as the special occasion in our booking, there was no acknowledgment at all - which was disappointing, especially since we saw several other tables celebrating with a mini cake and candle. Overall, amazing food but sadly let down by the service.

The food was average at best. Presentation was gorgeous but lacked flavour and was extremely salty, almost to the point of unpalatable for both mains (Pesce and short rib risotto). The potato skins which could have done with abit of salt, ironically tasted like it had none. Highlight was the raviolo which I do admit was very special, and the fig pudding was also delicious.

Booked the restaurant online for a family of 3 (including 1 school kid) stated it is a birthday celebration. Great vibe and good food. Tuna Crudo was great! However, Service could be better. I would have tipped the service if they managed to keep filling up our glass of water and provide a decorative dessert for a birthday celebration.

Great atmosphere and an authentic, classy experience. Both the pasta and risotto were flavourful and good portions. Garlic bread starter was phenomenal and made to order. Important to note the upstairs can feel crowded but a cool experience. Would definetly come again.

An experience, not just a meal. We had the pasta made on the cheese wheel right in front of us at the chefs table! Along with the beef cheeks and mash this was the best food ive ever had. Everything had so much flavour - even right down to the mocktails. The food came out so fast with the best service ive had. At a fancy place sometimes the meals are too small and you leave hungry... not this place. 10/10

The Proper Pizza Company, located in Auckland's city center, is a must-visit for pizza enthusiasts. This cozy eatery takes pride in hand-kneading their dough and offering a selection of gourmet toppings on their European-style thin crust pizzas. With a range of savory and sweet options, including gluten and dairy-free choices, there's something for everyone. The cafe also emphasizes the use of free-range ingredients and is now open for dinner as well.
The Proper Pizza made our late-night New Year’s Eve even better. We went in at 3am and ordered a family-sized pizza with four different toppings, and it tasted great. The staff were very kind, even though it was so late. The service wasn’t super fast, but that’s normal for fresh pizza. Overall, we really enjoyed it!

Ended up here after being fussy with about 100 other places I walked past. Pizzas are well made taste good. I inhaled it in five mins. My only complaint would be price i cant justify buying two but my body wanted two

My first pizza in New Zealand, and it did not disappoint me at all. I did enjoy my gluten free and dairy free pizza here, also it gave me a homemade vibe which could be from the facts that they are not chain restaurants (are they? Lol). The staffs were very friendly and helpful to accommodate me with my diet restrictions, I did truly appreciate that. The pizza was fun, I had such great afternoon with my pizza here

This was our first time ordering from Proper Pizza Company in Auckland, and we were blown away. After placing our online order (a Proper Pizza and a half-and-half for the kids), the pizza maker himself called to confirm and offered to cook our pizzas fresh upon our arrival. True to his word, our delicious, high-quality pizzas with a perfect base were ready just five minutes after we arrived. We chose Proper Pizza after researching other Auckland CBD options based on their Google reviews, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. The service was exceptional, and the pizzas were top-notch. Highly recommend!

My kids were craving pizza, so we decided to check out The Proper Pizza Company in the city center. Let me tell you, the service was amazing and the place was spotless. And oh my goodness, the pizza was absolutely divine. The combination of gooey cheese, delicious toppings, and crispy crust was like a perfect harmony of flavors. Our taste buds were truly in for a treat.

Delicious pizza and friendly staff. Had the proper pizza and black truffle – thin, crisp base loaded with rich toppings. It was so good I had to order another one to takeaway. Thank you so much :)

Absolutely love this place. Dessert pizza is sooo good, their normal pizzas are incredible, and the gelato is amazing and everything is worth the price. The atmosphere and outdoor seating is great, as well as all the pizza sizes and shapes and they have a great range of condiments as well which is good. Also the hours!!! Perfect place for late night snack

Experience the epitome of luxury at The Grand by SkyCity, a sleek and posh hotel offering 5-star accommodations in Auckland's CBD. Connected to the Sky City precinct via an air bridge, this hotel provides easy access to the city's favorite restaurants and attractions. With 13 restaurants and bars on-site, as well as a spa, indoor pool, and 24-hour gym, guests are treated to classic five-star comforts.
The valet guy at the front was polite and presented himself immaculately. The staff and the front desk were knowledgeable and quick to get us checked in. The room was very nice and tidy. A stunning harbour view. The curtains are thick and block out the light well in the morning. Most comfortable hotel bed and pillow. We were gifted a bottle of wine for our anniversary stay, a completely unexpected luxurious gesture that made our stay even more exciting. Weirdly the toilet roll holder is the opposite direction so the roll flies off every time you use it! And the cups don't fit into the espresso machine spot, too big. Our spa experience was bad... an adult-only spa area would've made a romantic stay much more pleasant. There were at least 8 kids in the lap pool (1 foot from the spa) every time we went to the spa, it was noisy and they jumped and splashed everywhere... kids and babies were in the spa pool too... NOT a peaceful/relaxing experience at all. The gym has great facilities including a step machine. The casino for evening entertainment was wonderful, we could have a drink there, a late-night snack and safely return to our room.

A holiday well spent at The Grand by Skycity! The staff were very helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. Gurpreet at Reception greeted us with a warm smile and helped us find a room that suited our family’s needs. It would have been even better with a Sky Tower view from our window, but the room was still comfortable. Breakfast at The Terrace was excellent, with a wide range of options. The pool, spa, sauna, and gym were also great. Overall, a wonderful staycation and highly recommended!

What a fabulous place !! So clean. Bed was super comfy. Service was excellent. Dinner was amazing, Butter chicken and a hamburger … totally rate those ! So much to do just within this building. Totally recommend.

We had an amazing weekend with friends/children staying at The Grand. The staff were friendly and welcoming and would say hello when we passed by, The room was a great size and loved the view really glad we did go for the harbour view don’t think we even shut the curtains the view was amazing to see both by day and night! The Grand made our son feel so special in celebrating his 5th birthday we really appreciated that. The pool/sauna/spa was brilliant for adults and kids alike. Recommend the valet parking just having that piece of mind your car is secure and it’s there for you at the front when need makes coming and going a breeze…Would definitely book again.
Louisa H — Google review
We had an amazing experience at The Grand. Valet was on point! Staff were polite and onto it. Room was stylish and modern, very clean! The pool was awsome, indoor and long. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Very nice hotel with very attentive staff. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with a large variety of choices. The hotel is in the center of lots of restaurants, shops and things to do, all in walking distance. The experiences and access to the casino area were also nice bonuses.
Laura B — Google review
Having previously stayed at the SkyCity, we chose to stay at the slightly more upscale Grand sister property. It comes with all the same perks as the location, access to casino, and as expected - it's nicer, chic, and very comfortable. Loved our stay
Jubin E — Google review
We spent 3 days 2 nights here recently. Valet parking was seamless and the lovely staff helped with our bags. Check-in flowed smoothly and we were ready to check in to our room within 5 mins. Pressure from the shower head was terrible - have better water pressure at home. Toilet was awkwardly positioned in a corner between the shower and a wall. The toilet roll holder was down near my knees (I am a big tall man). The bath tub was also awkwardly positioned. The ascetic’s of the bathroom was terrible who ever designed the room that way did a real bad job. The air con was blowing cold the 2 nights we stayed there despite attempts to turn the temperature up, it would not go higher than 19 degrees. The beds weren’t as comfortable as we expected - found them quite creeky sounding as well. The lighting in the room terrible - we found better lighting with the curtains open and the natural light coming through. TV reception was poor and kept cutting out mid show. We were unable to work the chrome cast either for some reason. We had breakfast at The Terrace. There wasn’t anything too fancy to write home about. Food was ok. Service however I might add was amazing. Great work by the staff to constantly top up the food there given it was a busy morning with lots of guest. The pool/spa was good and we enjoyed the warm water. Lots of spare towels for use. Check out was easy. A simple call to reception and someone was up quickly to help with our bags. Overall, wasnt the best stay. Our hotel room was a big let down but have to compliment the lovely staff for their hard work.

Very good food, everything was amazing! Love the vibe of the place, perfect for date nights! Loved the eye fillet beef carpaccio! It just melts to your melt like heaven! Proportion is really small, had to order a steak after the meal as we were both still hungry BUT THE COCKTAILS ARE THE BEST ONES I HAVE EVER HAD. Even after all this time I’m still trying to find one as good as this.
Chance D — Google review
This place looks fancy and the service is OK. But the food is not taste as good as it looks. It does have many ingredients inside this pasta but almost no flavor at all. And it is not that pleasant when you find fish scales in your food. I personally do not think this worth the price you will pay.
StayAwhileandEaT — Google review
I had very high hopes and had read some great things about SPQR. First and foremost the front of house staff are excellent. Super attentive and very good It's not a big place, relatively intimate and not over bearing with loud music or noise. It's a very funky Italian vibe. Food. Focaccia bread. Wow. Really fresh, pesto and condiments. Was a really great start. Fettuccine with Chicken. You would need to call it artisan or provincial. It was OK-ish. The pasta was too close to Al dente as it was a tad rubbery. It wasn't creamy but more.. Rustic. It was surprising. Risotto was OK, again not great. Fish cooked well. The potatoes were however great. I guess if you were in a country village in Italy it would be a 2 of 5 meh rating. It wasn't overly flavoursome or inspiring. Had pretty high hopes but really it was I guess a fair 2/5 but not more. I was surprised as I thought it was one of the really good Italian restaurants.

Had a wonderful meal here! The atmosphere is nice and lively but not so much that you can’t easily have a conversation with your table mates. The service was exceptional. Be sure to ask your server for recommendations - I’m glad we did bc there were so many good things to choose from. Definitely recommend starting with the bruschetta - it was wonderful! We loved everything we had and also made room for dessert - which was awesome as well. Just go. Your won’t be sorry.

We were always fans of Vivace in Fort Street and the new restaurant in the iconic DeBretts Hotel is sure to be another future Auckland restaurant icon. Great hospitality, great food. Highly recommended.

Went here for a nice dinner and was not disappointed. Food were of satisfying portions. The fried squid and fried mushrooms entrees are great. Recommend the gnocchi for pasta. Pizza had the perfect base. My choice of dessert was the dark choc, peanut tart which was rich and delicious. Service staff were great, despite it being a busy night. Overall, highly recommended.

The staff at Vivace are amazing and there is a whole vegan menu which is great. The attention to detail from the staff was incredible. My dining partner ordered me a drink without me knowing it had Prosecco and the waiter came back before making it to advise me the Prosecco wasn’t vegan. I was extremely appreciative. The vegan risotto was quite nice, not spectacular but it was good. The cocktails and the staff were the best part about this place

Italian-style cuisine with a NZ twist. The entrees are great for sharing, and there is a nice selection of pastas and risottos. Love the beer on tap, and the lovely, friendly service. Great for a business gathering or a date night.
Michela Z — Google review
Service was good, with the exception of a difficulty splitting a pizza into a number divisible by 3 for 3 people and processing the splitting of the bill for the pizza. Food was well-made, but tasted more like fusion food rather than authentic Italian food. Environment was good. Will be open to coming back again
Richard L — Google review
I’m search of dessert, I discovered the relocated Vivace in Fort Street. Of course, I was compelled to visit. The staff remained as excellent as I recalled from their High Street days. Interior wise, I loved the rustic charm of the wine and champagne laden wall crates meeting floor with ceiling and showcasing how serious this restaurant is with pleasing wine lovers. My dessert of choice was the black Doris plum and pecan pudding nestled in vanilla custard and jus served with thickened cream. I also ordered a soy latte before long bring beckoned the wine list. The intention to just dabble by having a glass of red evolved into enjoying gorgeous glasses of Lealtanza Reserve Tempranillo, Fiorini Cianti Superiore, Papa Luna GSM and Domaine de Charbonierre Grenache Syrah. This led to trying small dishes of fig mozzarella and honeycomb then smoked kahawai dip with sourdough bread to wash down the goodness. Excellent service, ambience, food and wine was experience so much so that I’ll be back again very soon!

We had a large table of 13. Booking was a breeze and they were really nice to deal with all of our changes. They brought us out appetisers early to keep us out of trouble. We had steaks, salmon filets, pizza, spaghetti, gnocchi, penne and lasagne. Everyone was STOKED on their meals. They all came out at the same time and it was seriously delicious. Beautiful sauces, traditional flavours cooked to perfection. They gave us a vegan and vegetarian option. We are a rowdy bunch of young work colleagues and they kept us quiet with our mouths and tummy's full. Yum yum pigsbum

Lunch menu is exactly the same as dinner menu with slightly higher pricing. I tried different pastas, a few starters and pizzas here at different times as I live nearby. It is affordable place with nice atmosphere but the food could be better. A small $24 pizza is very average in taste... All pastas are just ok. Last time i tried tiramisu which was good but very strong in alcohol.

We ordered 2 prosciutto pizzas, one with white base and one with tomato sauce, and fries. Everything was pretty good and probably they would have tasted even better eating them at the restaurant instead of take away.

Nice atmosphere. Not bad for lunch. Quite slow, so don't come here if you're in a hurry. Was a little disappointed with the grated cheese on top of dishes - was expecting a more traditional parmesan.

Had the Eye Fillet Al Pepe, steak was cooked to perfection, absolutely melted in your mouth, my partner had the carbonara with chicken and that was mouthwatering. Delicious Neapolitan pizza and tiramisu. As good as what you will get in Italy. The wine collection was really good too. We had three pizzas between the two of us, the third was definitely us overeating! Yes, it was that good. We had one with mushrooms and truffle oil, one diavola and another salami pizza. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very warm and cozy

This is probably one of the best pizza's I've had in Auckland. Really tasty with the margarita that I got. Base was pretty good and the dough was pretty fluffy a little floppy towards the center as well. Really quick service as well we got our pizza's within like 6-8mins ahaha. A lil pricey at $22 but the pizza is really big! I think as far as I know for this type of pizza its actually pretty well priced. Super nice interior very cozy and the staff are really friendly. Overall great place a bit small but the lighting makes it feel good :D. Thank you!

Went without a reservation, they seated me immediately even though it was busy. Such polite and attentive wait staff. My drink came quick. Starter within 15 mins. Main another 15 minutes after that. Food was amazing! The fettuccine was perfect 👌 flavour wise as well as the pasta being immaculate. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone! Thanks for a wonderful meal.

We got Uber eats from here. The order presented poor value for money. The calamari portion consisted of 8 pieces for $26. The lasagna, while having a satisfactory flavor, contained a minimal amount of mince meat. Contact with the restaurant regarding these issues was not productive.

Been coming here for years and no longer live in Auckland so was sceptical as owners changed…..if anything it’s gotten better. The pizza is so good because it’s LOADED with toppings which I personally love…..it’s not pretending to be some trendy 30 second cooked basically dough Naples style pizza 🍕 There is as much topping as base, they do not skimp on the toppings. Plus pasta always solid. It’s a real locals place and new owners have done great job and I’ll continue to come every visit to Auckland !! 9.77 out of 10

I visited this fancy Italian restaurant in Epsom with my close friends for dinner after one of them recommended it, as I wanted to have pizza near the CBD. The restaurant was easy to find. I ordered a medium-sized special combination pizza, which perfectly matched my appetite. The portions and flavour were both satisfying. My friends ordered lasagna, beef steak, and chicken steak, and they all loved their meals. Although the portions were a bit small for them since they have big appetites, the overall experience was great. The staff was friendly, making our dinner even more welcoming. The restaurant had delightful warm lighting and a big indoor pizza oven that added to the cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy Italian food with family and friends.

The only disappointment was the dessert. The rice pudding was bland and not very interesting. Would go again, but order differently.

Ada exceeded expectations on customer service and the overall experience. Food was very good and the cocktail was delicious, highly recommend the aged beef as it was so tender and juicy, chocolate moose was divine and not to mention the establishment itself looks so stunning, the atmosphere here is beautiful. Overall the most impressive part of Ada for me was the staff. The customer service was exceptional, they were all so welcoming, attentive, patient and friendly. Overall 10/10

Ada restaurant, while a little outside of "downtown", is a must if you're visiting Auckland. The food was carefully prepared and was delicious, with a very diversified menu thought for everyone. The freshness of the ingredients is one of the highlight. I would recommend having someone with you to share the plates as you'll want to taste as many items in the menu as you can. Good wine menu and a good choice of non-alcoholic beverages. The lemonade was superbe! Additionally, the decor is really spectacular. Great spot for a few Instagram shots.

From the moment we walked in, the experience was incredible. The decor alone was stunning and truly set a memorable tone. We found the drinks perfect and the main food to be fabulous. Beyond the quality of the offerings, the service was exceptional; everyone was friendly and highly attentive. The atmosphere was delightful and very pleasant. Our single disappointment was the dessert; the rice pudding didn't quite live up to the rest of the meal. Despite that small note, we will definitely be returning!

I enjoy fine dining, but cannot say I am a "foodie" with a fully calibrated palate. That said, I was taken back by how masterful each dish was - aesthetically pleasing, full of flavor, and unique. This was an experience, one of the best meals I've had in all of my travels. I did not have a reservation, dined solo, and had a seat at the bar with no wait. Despite the bar setting, the atmosphere felt private and the service was exemplary. I highly recommend the Crudo. I followed the servers suggestion here, and was thankful I did so.

We really wanted to enjoy Ada because we had heard so many good things but unfortunately can’t recommend this. The food was not worth the price. For instance the lamb didn’t have much flavour, was undercooked and hard to chew. + our raw beef tartare had a hair in it. A friend ended up eating it and it was quite unpleasant. Our reservation was also hidden at the very back of the restaurant with no light so we couldn’t read the menu or see what we were eating. Overall: - food wasn’t amazing - brusque service - poor atmosphere - hair in our raw beef dish *We were given a replacement ‘on the house’, but combined with the other things it definitely just made our experience worse.

Exceeded my expectations! Atmosphere was brilliant and food was amazing, especially at it's price point (set menu series)! We will be back :)

Bar
Soul Bar & Bistro is a trendy and modern establishment located in Viaduct Harbour, Auckland. It offers innovative dishes and a vibrant bar scene with views of the harbor. The venue has been a staple in the area for 21 years, known for its lively atmosphere and epic live music. The bar serves unique cocktails like the Judes Law and 10-year-old monk, crafted by experienced Bar Manager Katie Cramphorn.
We dined at Soul Bar for dinner. Our server Liz was very lovely and attentive, she made us very comfortable and answered our questions gracefully regarding the menu. All the dishes were well presented, fresh and flavorful. Good mocktail selection to, which was a nice surprise. It was a weekend evening so it was fairly loud but great, lively atmosphere for an inner city restaurant. Bathrooms were clean and tidy, rest of the staff were friendly too.

Our first time dining here and won’t be our last! It was a wonderful experience, from start to finish! The gorgeous welcoming staff, the delectable dishes, the ambience, comfortable seats, the company we kept, everything was perfect!

We have been to Soul bar on many occasions and really enjoyed it in the past, how ever that last few times we have been very disappointed and specially the last visit was for my partners birthday. We weren't there for the ladies lunch we were paying full price and spending alot of money. The service was so bad one of the waitresses plonked our food infront of us with no words or even a smile and walked off. The food was tasteless and nothing to rav about. We ordered the prawn pasta and it came out Looking and tasting over cooked with a prawn head on top of it with about 3 little bits of prawn through it, the seafood chow was made with chicken stock and not very nice, the fish dish was average along with the 2 entrée we had. We won't be back as we can cook better at home.

I love Soul Bar, and this time it was a tuesday lunch with the girls. The food is consistently delicious and full of flavor. This time we enjoyed: Scampi cocktail, jalapeño & lime, Ricotta filled tortelli, sunday sauce, calabrian chilli Tuna tartare, calabrian chilli, oyster mayo, potato galette West coast whitebait fritters, lemon butter. We will be back!

We felt like having a special date night last week, I had been to Soul before just for drinks but had heard the food was exceptional. Despite being a Tuesday night, Soul Bar & Bistro was lively, busy and definitely the place for a fancy date night, work drinks, and family/friends group dinners. The staff are lovely and helpful and food was amazing. I had to try the famous Mac n Cheese - was unlike anything else I've had, did not dissapoint! Drinks were really good as well. All round the spot if you have anyone you'd like to take to a nice dinner on the waterfront. Still raving about it- we will be back 💫

The food and drink at Soul Bar is exceptional. We ordered a variety of starters, which were all unique and delicious. My favourite starter was the tuna with wasabi mayo. For my main, I ordered the lamb rack. The lamb was tender and flavourful. Kumara was also served with the lamb, providing a soft and crunchy texture to the meal. Additionally, my cocktail, the Soul Punch, was delicious. The service is also great. The wait staff were kind and enthusiastic.

We came before so this was a repeat visit. Did not disappoint! Soul has amazing cocktails and delicious food. Top favourites were the tiger prawns starter, scampi alla chittara and market fish.

Botswana Butchery, originally from Queenstown, opened its Auckland location in 2012. Despite initial criticism, the restaurant has evolved into a top-notch eatery with quality food and service. While not solely focused on steak like some competitors, their Butcher's Block menu offers a variety of steaks along with an impressive selection of sides, salads, and sauces.
Fantastic as always. Definitely a top shelf venue that is consistently good. We shared a few entrees which were all delicious. I had a wagyu steak which good to my liking. Dessert was a real mix of flavours but very nice also. Definitely add this to your list and go if you haven’t been already.

Amazing place to have a good meal with great desserts while in town. This place tends to be booked out so better to book in advance rather than just turning up. We had the House Baked Bread, Slow Roasted Oyster Cut Lumina Lamb Shoulder and Tiger Prawn. For those of you who only eat halal meat they serve it here. Please ask the staff. In desserts we had Affogato, Vanilla Pannacotta and a couple of other desserts and they were absolutely amazing. You could actually just come to the restaurant to enjoy the amazing desserts!

Great dinner at Botswana Butchery. 2 Steaks cooked to perfection, 1 was too rare for medium but the restaurant employees got it sorted super quickly and did not hide but came forward until we were happy. Great example of excellent customer service. Restaurant is very well staffed and the decor and ambience was excellent! Highly recommended.

Our party of 9 had the set menu here and wow, very impressed. Quality and friendly service from our waiter Nadia and all other servers was prompt and knowledgeable, especially with wines. To finish we had the cheese platter which was a nice finish.

Saw this restaurant on the ground floor of Ferry Building and thought it’d good to try it. At the end of the dinner we felt it was a great choice. From the entree to the mains it was a great feast all the way. We had the French onion soup (which was almost like a stew) mushroom soup (which was authentically mushroom soup not canned type) and the wagyu beef tartare (which was SO different from what I had before. It was served on a bone with a potato fritter. Yum! Then the lamb platter came and we had a feast of tender and delicious lamb ribs, rump and loin! 😋😋😋 If I have a say to return I’d do so when we leave Auckland. 😆

Portofino is a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Auckland's Viaduct Harbour, offering an authentic Italian dining experience that transports you straight to Italy. Here, you'll savor dishes crafted with care, like their risotto alla pescatora—a seafood delight featuring prawn, salmon, and squid enveloped in rich tomato risotto. The ambiance is enhanced by stunning views of the harbor and attentive service from this family-run establishment.

Decided to have dinner here on New Years Eve. Called in at 6.30 and got a table immediately. We had a choice of still or sparkling water already on our table when we were seated which was nice. We ordered our food but weren’t sure on the best wine to have so left that to the waiter to recommend. We only waited 20 mins for our main to come out and the wine the waiter chose for the meal was superb. We had 3 courses, a bottle of wine and two cocktails and the bill was $223 for the two of us. The seating was very comfortable looking out across the marina. All in all a very nice evening prior to NY celebrations. Georgio, our waiter was exceptional. Thanks for the fab dinner and atmosphere for the last evening of 2024 Portofino!

Restaurant
FISH Restaurant, located at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland, is a sleek and sophisticated waterfront eatery offering a fine selection of seafood dishes. The restaurant boasts contemporary decor and stunning harbor views. Partnered with New Zealand's Masterchef presenter Simon Gault, FISH presents a creative menu featuring sustainably caught seafood such as snapper, crayfish, lobster, hapuka, and Bluff Oysters.
This is a fantastic reastraunt to treat yourself or celebrate a special occasion. The menu showcased NZ food to a high standard with suitable portion sizes. The quality of the food was amazing and well presented. The staff were lovely and knew the food and wine menu well. We were warmly greeted on arrival, and my reservation request for a table with a view was accommodated. Definitely recommend for a great dining experience to celebrate special occasions.

was keen to try out this restaurant. The location is great but food was not as good as expected. Oysters were not cold and one had dried right off indicating it had been sitting round for a bit. Also one was v v small. mussels were tasty but some were also dry. dessert was a cheesecake which was tasty but it was very firm. Waitress was really lovely. mates fish was a little overcooked as well and her pate was not very tasty.

We came here for restaurant month and were blown away by the size of the mains. The rich steak and marrow in particular was well-cooked, flavourful and intimidating to finish! Amazing value for $55 and the harbourside setting gave off great vibes. Highly recommended!
Joy W — Google review
The service at fish was absolutely appalling, it is outrageous that we had to wait more than 5 minutes for someone to attend to us while we stood at the entrance. We had mussels and crab cakes as an entree, the mussels were quite tough, on the other hand the crab cakes were delicious. For our mains we ordered the steak, fish and the duck. The fish was average but extremely light. The duck lacked flavour but was chewable. Thankfully the steak was extraordinary. This was not what we expected from fish as we have previously dined at fish. Unlike this lunch we enjoyed our past experience heavily.

We made the last minute decision to have dinner here on our final night in Auckland. Making a same day reservation online was quick and easy and took no more than 2 minutes. We didn’t read the description properly so walked back and forth for about 5 minutes looking for the restaurant before being assisted by a Hilton staff member. We were seen and seated immediately followed with water and menus. Drinks came out almost immediately after ordered followed by our starter of octopus which was far better than expected. After a short wait we received both meals. We ordered the blue cod and ribeye steak. Both were absolutely delicious and the perfect portion. Ended with the cream brûlée which was so good. Not to mention the beautiful view of the harbour we got to enjoy while dining. The service we received from both waiters was nothing but professional and exceptional from start to finish. Would definitely recommend dining here, although it is pricey it is definitely worth it!

It was my firsts time trying the Fish restaurant. The view was amazing, they currently have a spring brunch every Sunday, which you can pick your mains and you get dessert and other starters in a buffet style. The service was great as well as the environment. It is not very crowded which I love. In terms of the food, the quality of the food were great. The crab cake egg benedict was the highlight for sure. Cost: $68 per person

Went here for a birthday party. The restaurant space at the Hilton is nice with good views onto the harbour, the seafood was good, had nice oysters but the red meats were not soo good. The lamb and beef steaks arrived cold like they have been sitting there for ages with no heat inside the meat. The flavours were average.

Breakfast restaurant
Gusto at the Grand is a luxurious restaurant located in the SkyCity casino. The restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine and is known for its handmade pasta. The dining experience is perfect for sharing, with simple lunch and dinner menus that are perfect for small groups.
We stayed at the grand by sky city it was very easy location for us as we woke up and headed down to level 3 in the same building. Friendly service and nice ambience and their spread was amazing. There were continental options to hot cooked options, plenty of fruit, too. There were plenty of breakfast meat and salmon as well as hot cooked options i.e scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans and tomatoes. What I liked about the kitchen was that they cook pancakes to your order and eggs to your liking so they are served straight as they cooked. (I regret that we didn’t try their omelet since we were too full but apparently it’s good). There are so many options on their buffet so we ended not ordering extras from the kitchen. Not only that, all their foods were all scrumptious with quality not just filling in the gaps/options to their spread of the buffet. Not to mention their patries, man, they were the best by far for me. I have been to many artisan bakeries where they claim theirs is the best in town, but these were the best by far for me; not too crunchy or crispy. They were so fresh and full of flavours. I highly recommend their buffet breakfast.

We stayed at the Sky City Grand and had the buffet breakfast here at the Gusto on 3 occasions. Great selection from egg, bacon, sausage hot breakfast to continental breakfast, pastries, fruits, self serving tea and coffee. Try the omelette which the chef will make to your order. Buffet breakfast is $40 and you can also get barista coffee for an extra cost. Open for breakfast at 7 am daily, great staff and nice and easy location while staying at the Sky City Grand.

If you are looking for delicious pasta - this is the place. Located on the ground floor of Skycity hotel, I first thought that it would be like a bar at the reception, but when you have been sites at the table, you completely forget that there is a busy hotel just behind the bar wall. The atmosphere is superb, it’s super quite, warm and comfortable, no loud parties or anything, you can comfortable speak with you lived one at the other end of the table. Wine list is quite big, and food menu is enormous. We decided to try the pasta, as they hand made it themselves as soon as you have made the order. It was superb, I had the one with the duck and my wife had the risotto - and it was the beat pasta a we’ve had in Auckland. We are definitely coming back for more.

We had dinner on valentine's day. We were very disappointed about the portions and the quality of the food. It wasn't worthy for 290. We didn't expect everything was for sharing. I was expecting more fancy, better dishes on a special occasion like valentine's day, and the table was sticky. I'm not sure if i want to go back there again.

Decided to try this restaurant for home made pasta dishes. Tried 2 different pastas: one with pumpkin and another one with spicy pork sausage (induja). You can definitely tell that pasta was made in the house. It was very good. We liked it. We also tried chocolate pudding for dessert. However, it was more like a chocolate lava cake with all the gooeyness. Staff was very accommodating and welcoming.

Ima Cuisine is an intimate cafe that specializes in traditional Middle Eastern and North African dishes. The restaurant offers a variety of options for vegetarians and vegans, with standout dishes like the slow-braised Lebanese lamb shoulder and golden fried haloumi.
Ima has always been my favorite restaurant ever since it first opened. The food is delicious & has this simple, home cooked feeling. The mezze platter of bread & dips is so good, I would go to Ima's just for this! The baba ghanoush is my fave. All the mains were great, the slow braised lamb shoulder was melt in your mouth. We also tried the vegan dish & it was really good. Just be aware it's a big dish. We were the last table to leave - i think we sat there for like 3hrs and no once did the staff try to rush us out the door. Always such a good dining experience.

The ambience of the place is amazing and takes you to a place where you could just sit back and relax. The food was on point. Mezze for Two was fresh and bread soft and hot. Dips were also amazing. Chicken with rice and 3 other sides were also succulent. We also ordered the non alcoholic sodas which were a 7/10. They could have had a bit more flavour in them but they did compliment the food. Portion sizes are a little disappointing in comparison to the price one pays. Staff though were all really good and very welcoming, and interacted with us to make sure we were comfortable with everything.

Excellent restaurant in the heart of downtown Auckland. Amazing food - I had bharat spiced chicken, and halloumi, followed by their hot cross bun pudding. Mains come with various sides. The chef/owner is very proud of her restaurant, and rightly so. Highly recommended - it's worth buying their recipe book. Oh, and dependent on availability, the hot cross buns are incredible - they use the same recipe in the pudding.

A Cozy Experience at Ima Cuisine… Ima Cuisine is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the warm, cozy vibe and lovely lighting set the perfect mood for dinner. We started with the mezze platter…The pillowy, fresh pita paired beautifully with the creamy hummus, smoky baba ganoush, and smooth labneh. The pickled veggies added the perfect punch, and the falafel was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside—some of the best falafels I’ve had in a while. For mains, we shared the halloumi and chicken along with a variety of sides. I’m already planning my next visit—especially during the day so I can have their famous hot cross buns! If you're looking for comforting, authentic Middle Eastern flavours in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, Ima Cuisine is a must-visit. Highly recommend :)

Restaurant
Al Forno is a stylish Italian restaurant in Takapuna that has captured the hearts of both locals and visitors. The charming eatery offers a delightful selection of antipasti, wood-fired pizzas, and pasta dishes. The decor exudes an authentic Italian vibe with its wooden tables, vibrant orange walls, and an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a seaside town along the Amalfi coast.
It's been a while since I left a place and instantly said that we should go back! We went for dinner with friends who booked through FirstTable so our reservation was 5pm and it was quiet but it soon filled up and I can fully understand why! The service was amazing, the food was delicious and good portion sizes, the drinks were great and getting them refilled was not an issue. All our food came out together which is such a rarity these days. And even though we over stayed our booking time (because we were enjoying ourselves so much and having a good time we didn't realise) they were polite in telling us and it didn't dampen the experience at all. One of our party is allergic to peanuts and they went above and beyond by checking something on the dessert menu and letting us know that because they don't make it on site, they would suggest not getting it. Most places would be too worried about admitting they buy something in, but honestly, we loved that they did because it meant that we could trust them. Over all LOVED our experience here and we will definitely be back with other people. But %100 suggest booking because they're that good they are busy!!

What an absolute treasure this place is. This was my final night in Auckland before flying back to Sydney the next evening .My friend whom I was staying with, made a dinner reservation for 7:30pm on the Friday evening in early May 2025. But, when we got there they never had a booking for us. We were a bit upset but they were so lovely and suggested we might like to sit on an outside table and see if a table came up soon....we did have a fab heater above us and they gave us the warmest blankets for our legs! It is the start of winter in NZ at that time of the year. Well, about half an hour...ish later they said there was a table inside but the 3 of us were so busy chatting and drinking, wrapped in our toasty blankets that we were very happy to sit outside. It was actually quite noisy inside. I hadn't seen one of my friends for many years so we were chatting for ages before we actually ordered, but our waitress was super friendly and never hassled us. Now the pizzas....they were absolutely magic!! The crust was so delicious and even the sides of the pizza were so soft and chewy. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of our fab food, only a location shot. Definitely another visit is on the cards when I go back to Takapuna, fab service and fab food and ambience.

Our gratitude goes to the team for an exceptional dining experience we had at the restaurant tonight. We decided to try our luck without a reservation, and despite the restaurant being packed, the lovely server offered us a table outside under the heaters, which we gratefully accepted. They even offered blankets!!!! 👌 Despite how busy it was, our orders were taken within five minutes, and our food was served within 20 minutes. The pizza was superb, the chicken was tender, and the kids' portions were generous. We discovered Al Forno by chance, but we'll definitely be back the next chance we get—this time with a reservation!

This our first time trying this resto. We could feel the vibe when we were at the front door. Amazing food. Excellent service. I booked Al Forno for a friend's bday 🎂 it just so happened to be on an evening when the Takapuna Mid-Winter Light Festival was happening ✨️ so glad we booked as the restaurant seemed very popular. Gorgeous intimate setting with a lovely candlelit ambience. Wood-fired pizza 🍕 classic pasta dishes alongside favourite mains. The staff were all super warm and friendly and the smell from the kitchen was mouthwatering 🤤 There was a huge variety of beautiful Italian reds and whites 🍷 to accompany and compliment your meal. We chose the creamy chicken cabonara 🍝 and the filetto aglio 🥩 both dishes were amazing and cooked to perfection 👌 will have to come back to try the dessert as we were too full this time but they looked delicious 😋 thank you for a stunning experience, highly recommended for a romantic dinner for two or a special family meal out. We will definitely be back! ✨️

My spouse and I received a unique gift of a pizza cooking experience at Goode Brothers, an Italian restaurant. We had a delightful time creating our own dough, crafting personalized pizzas, mixing cocktails, and indulging in a delectable calzone for dessert. The food was incredibly delicious, and we were particularly impressed with Chef Logan's excellent instruction. He was friendly and patient throughout the class.
Definitely one of the best lunch services I’ve had in a while, the atmosphere was great, food delicious and DRINKS- top tier! Staff made this experience! Our waitress Rylee, please get her on the floor everyday because she was amazing! Just beautiful, so attentive to our large group, always checking in, making sure we were ok AND most importantly she done it with a great energy. We wanted her to sit with us! Perfect spot for our girls catch up.

We booked this place for my son’s birthday and had a great time. Yummy food and beautiful atmosphere. Whole staff were amazing. Always with a smile. Special thanks to Val. He made this so special moment for us. Thank you Val and all the staff. We will definitely come back soon and will recommend this place for everyone. Thanks again to all.

Love the decor in this place.  Not too busy for Sunday lunch.  Service was A+ excellent.  Portion sizes were massive.  Brother enjoyed his Classic Seafood Marinara but the star for him was the Mango Sorbet.  Perfect end to his meal.  Daughters Loaded Pepperoni Cheeseburger meal was tasty with a fresh soft bun and lots of saucy goodness.  Tiramasu was massive, she couldn't finish it.  Scotch Fillet was cooked perfectly medium rare - super juicy and tender.  Warm Bourbon Peacan Pie was absolutely delicious. Thanks to First Table booking for making this even more affordable.

I hadn't my breakfast and wasn't planning for lunch, so I thought why not to have brunch at Goode Brothers, I ordered mushroom burger, onion rings and pineapple juice for me. The taste were amazing, it satisfied my cravings for carbs and suger. I enjoyed it with lovely sunny and windy weather bcz I was seating outside. If you are vegetarian and don't know what to order, try this mashroom burger at Goode Brothers. It was lovely experience to have brunch there. Highly recommend. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Everything was 10/10.

Archie's Restaurant & Pizzeria is a charming Italian eatery that invites you to indulge in a delightful culinary experience. Known for its claim of having 'the best pizza in the world,' Archie's offers an impressive selection of hand-rolled, wood-fired pizzas topped with gourmet ingredients like salmon and cream cheese or chicken and pesto. But the menu doesn't stop at pizza; you'll also find delicious bruschetta, risotto, pasta dishes, and Mediterranean-inspired mains that cater to every palate.
Have been visiting this restaurant for years now, and there’s a reason I keep going back. Very generous food portions, the taste is always consistent, and the staff are always polite. Personal favourite is the seafood pasta, prawn linguine and the beef salad. Pizzas are always cooked to perfection. The owner is personally there often and his passion for the restaurant is undeniable. Keep it up!

first time going here and trust me IT WAS REALLY GOODDDD. we didnt make a reservation in advance, but thankfully because we were only 2 people so there was few small tables available. so if you are coming in a large group, definitely make a reservation first. the food was really incredible, the portion is quite big for me, so me and my friend ordered one spaghetti pollo and one salmon pizza and we shared together. we really loved it. the waiter even gave us free garlic bread even though we did not order that. overall the service and food are really great. i really recommend this place.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday and booked a table just in case. It was fairly busy when we arrived at 12.30pm. We ordered 2x Pizzas, a Fettuccine and a Resotto to share between 3, Adults and 2x Kids. The food came out fast and the portions are a good size. Excellent value and authentic tasting

Always delicious as usual, whenever we come to nmk, we come and eat But today's carbonara was bit overcooked, the sauce had thickened, and the steak was a bit too rare. But, still, it was tasty as always

I am unsure about what is going on at this establishment. Staff must not be trained at all, management should jump on that quick if they want to give customers an enjoyable experience. Staff did not greet my table as we sat down, over half an hour came multiple times to my table to fill up glasses of water but was never asked if were ready to order anything to drink or eat. Eventually has to ask to order drinks, which came out all at different times over a span of 20 minutes. Unsure of the system they have going on in the bar as we would have 1 drink come to our table, then 2 drinks to a table next to us, then maybe 5 minutes later another drink come to us. Does not seem like a proper system is in place with order of drinks. After drinks there was again, no service received from staff asking if we were ready to order, which we probably only got our order through an hour after sitting down and again, a staff member had to be waved down to take our order. when the food come it was unfortunately completely average, pasta was overcooked causing it to be soft and mushy which isn’t enjoyable. Strange way of presentation with olives being served in a wine glass..? was quite taken a back by that, something i had never seen before! Every plate that wasn’t a pasta or a pizza also had a huge dumped pile of sad looking lettuce on it, quite odd. Again, there was no staff member to come over to the table to ask how the food was going, or ask if anything else was wanted. i felt really dissatisfied given the high reviews of this restaurant. Staff definitely needs training in customer service as they are absolutely clueless on how to make an enjoyable customer experience, i really hope management can adress that concern with their team immediately. there are far better italian restaurants in Auckland with better service and properly cooked pasta.

Absolutely amazing experience! We visited Archie’s in Newmarket for our parents’ wedding anniversary and had an incredible time. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, and the food was outstanding. We ordered the Prawn Linguine, Mediterranean Pizza, Fettuccine, Medium Rare Steak, Prosciutto e Funghi Pizza and Seafood Risotto—every dish was full of flavour and beautifully cooked. We loved the Mediterranean Pizza so much we ordered another one as a finale! Highly recommend this place. We'll definitely be back. Thanks, Archie’s team!

Scarecrow is not just one of the best cafes in Auckland CBD, it's a unique combination of a stylish cafe, urban farmers market, and florist. The focus here is on locally sourced, organic fare. The cafe offers European-style meals with antipodean twists and exceptional flat whites. You can also shop for artisanal local products and colorful flowers while enjoying your meal.
Absolutely amazing! We had just flown into town and were looking for a good breakfast spot. We decided to stop here and were so glad we did. The food was incredible. I got the shashuka and my husband got the French toast. I cannot tell you how impressed we were with both. Let’s not forget the coffee, that gave me life that day. We highly recommend Scarecrow!

I loved the stuffed portobello plate and the biscoff latte was very good. Everything was delicious! I love the atmosphere here - cozy and serene. Plenty of seating indoors and easy to carry out as well. The service was great - friendly, welcoming, and efficient. A great option for anytime of the day. The desserts also look fantastic!

The people working there were all very nice and welcoming. I ended up ordering the Big Breakfast, and the portion size lives up to its name (and price). The bread was toasted to perfection and well-buttered. The mocha was nice as well. The overall vibe was very wholesome in a Ghibli and cottagecore sort of way. Most of the tables were for 2 people, although there were a few for around 4 ppl I think? Definitely better suited for smaller groups. Would recommend for dates. Expect typical CBD pricing.

We came on a saturday morning around 11am and we get a table straight away. They do the orange iced americano but it’s orange syrop not really orange. Still good tho. We had to wait probably 20 to 30minutes for our food. It was crowded too and kind of noisy. But the food change your mind. I tried their famous eggs bene and the brioché bread is amazing it changes all the flavours. My partner had the harvest something (sorry forget the name but it’s like a big breakfast). He loved how the mushrooms where cooked and the potatoes. We will definitely comeback but probably earlier :)

Dante's Pizzeria Ponsonby is a must-visit for pizza enthusiasts in Auckland. With multiple locations across the city, this authentic Italian eatery offers top-notch Napoli-style pizzas with fluffy, charred crusts and premium toppings. The heavenly tiramisu made with Savoiardi biscuits, cream, mascarpone, Segafredo coffee, and chocolate dust is not to be missed.
This is the recommended spot for pizza and pasta in Ponsonby, located inside Ponsonby Central. I have been here a few times for their signature pizzas, which are always delicious. Last Saturday on breezy sunny day, I went for lunch with a close friend and had the chance to chat with the owner. He suggested trying their pasta, as I hadn't before. We ordered two pasta dishes and some garlic bread on the side. Both pastas were excellent, with subtle flavours that suited our tastes perfectly. The garlic bread was a great complement to the meal. I can confidently say they excel not just in pizza but in pasta too. Good and kind services by staffs too. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy quality Italian food.

Dante’s – A Slice of Italy in the Heart of Auckland If you’re on the hunt for the best authentic Italian pizza in Auckland, look no further than Dante’s. Crafted by the talented Chef Kevin, every bite takes you straight to Naples – fresh ingredients, perfect crust, and bold, traditional flavours. We had what can only be described as the best pizza in Auckland. The standout? The Carne Pizza – loaded with perfectly seasoned meats and baked to wood-fired perfection. But don’t stop there – the Bella Stacciatella is a creamy, flavour-packed delight. And don’t even think about skipping the Arancini balls – crispy on the outside, rich and cheesy inside – they’re the perfect appetizer to pair with an ice-cold Peroni Beer. The combination is simply unbeatable. The atmosphere is warm, the service is spot-on, and the food? Unforgettable. Must-try combo: Carne Pizza + Bella Stacciatella + Arancini balls + Peroni Beer = Heaven. Grazie, Chef Kevin – we’ll be back!

After an awe-inspiring visit to the Auckland Sky Tower, my family and I took a relaxed 30-minute stroll and came across Dante’s Pizzeria in Ponsonby Central – and what a brilliant find it was! I ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro for dinner, and it was hands down the best pasta I’ve ever had. The dish featured a rich San Marzano Tomato DOP sauce, perfectly balanced with garlic, a touch of chilli, and a generous sprinkle of parmesan. Every bite was packed with authentic Italian flavour – simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious. My siblings were equally impressed with their pasta selections. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It felt like a little slice of Italy right in the heart of Auckland. When I visit Auckland again, Dante’s Pizzeria will definitely be on my list. Highly recommended for anyone craving for genuine Italian cuisine in a vibrant setting.

Dante's Pizzeria in Ponsonby is one of the best spots in town for sourdough pizza. The base is light, well-cooked, and has a nicely puffed rim that we really like. Toppings are fresh and balanced, with simple, authentic flavours done right. We had the Truffle, Funghi & Pancetta and the Diavola (both excellent). Always a solid choice when craving proper Italian-style pizza.

Had a very delicious and absolutely authentic DOP Pizza. The only i have seen since years where the dough can "rest" for 3 days to develop a flavor which makes this juwel almost likewise out of space. Thanks guys, have very enjoyed it. 🍕

We ordered Dante with Uber tonite, paid $34 each for 2 spaghetti carbonara, and were really disappointed. One dish was a lot smaller than the other and had less than 5 bits of bacon. Both were gluggy, luke warm and very underwhelming. We called the store immediately who said to complain yo Uber, and refused to assist. Really annoyed, won't be back.

Had high expectations for this place given that the place had won awards. Given that the price of this place is not cheap, averaging $30+ per pizza, definitely expected good things from it and my bar is set higher compare to something that is within just over $20 range. At first impression, this place is very cramped and tables are too small to be comfortable. Music is so loud and service is not that good. So not really off to a good start. We ordered the margherita and the carne pizza. The food came at least not that slow. The only good thing I can say is the pizza dough was nice in texture. However for the carne, the toppings just fell off when I take the pizza and it wasn't that much of a taste. I can feel the meat quality was pretty good, but the taste although wasn't bad, is not justify for me to spend $35+ for a pizza. The margherita I have the same feeling towards it. It was not bad, but not good enough to pay $30 for it. Overall, it was a disappointing experience for me. Will not be coming back for some expensive pizza with not so comfortable dining experience.

Volare Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, located in the heart of Auckland, is a culinary gem offering a taste of Italy for families. The restaurant prides itself on crafting authentic Italian dishes that are both delicious and reminiscent of traditional flavors. Their pizzas are particularly noteworthy for their authenticity. While some visitors have noted the cozy atmosphere and consistent service, others have found the prices to be high for what they expected.
A beautiful selection of Italian dishes with plenty to choose from, along with an extensive drinks list. The entrées were stunning, a perfect start to the evening. For mains I got to try the prawn and chorizo risotto, potato gnocchi, and fettuccine al pollo, and you could tell fresh ingredients were used, the flavors were just WOW! I would definitely come back. We were seated upstairs, which perfectly accommodated our group of 20. The service was absolutely fantastic, the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout the night. I would highly recommend this place!

I went here for a family dinner and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and even let us use the massive pepper grinder for fun and photos. The food was quite lovely. My dad especially enjoyed the calamari, very well cooked and tender. All the seafood we ordered were well-received. They were fresh and the seasoning didn’t overpower the natural sweetness of the seafood. The pizza base was not the best, as it was kinda floppy which wasn’t great. The pasta was tasty with lots of flavour. The menu was quite extensive and there still lots of other options I would like to try. Overall quite an enjoyable experience. Good for families.

La Rosa Restaurant is a well-established Italian eatery in Glen Eden that offers delicious dishes and a cozy atmosphere. The staff members are friendly, and the service is efficient. The menu features generous portion sizes, with standout dishes like Maiale and parfait. I think the "most Italian" place you will be able to find in East Auckland. Very close to the beach, low-key simple (exactly how Italian suppose to be) honest good restaurant. Portions are big, we all couldn't even finish our meals. Prices very reasonable for the location. Great wine. Better to make a booking.

Delicious pasta. Not a great arrival experience though. Their main door facing the street leads to the kitchen so we had to find the side entrance. There was another group of customers in front of us waiting for the waitstaff to be seated. After a while with other kitchen staff passing by and no acknowledgment, the group ahead of us left. Finally the chef came out and told us to go upstairs where the waitstaff and tables were. While the food was good, the experience was not. They should improve their main entrance and have waitstaff downstairs to welcome customers

I don’t know what has happened to this place but its simply disappointing. They were already late with my pick up order, but had also got my order wrong. I had to point out that acknowledging and apologising for the error would go a long way. Furthermore, I had to wait an additional 20 mins when I was advised it’ll be another 10, then received it with a topping missing, and the pizza tasted like it was cooked far too long. Service & food quality for the price - I imagine I will have come out happier at a pizza chain store.

The entrance was tricky to find – it's actually on the side, not the front. Once inside, the upstairs dining area was cozy. We tried their gluten-free pizza, which was okay – nothing spectacular, but decent.

I used to come here as a kid more than 20 years ago and thought it would be cool to come back. Sad to say i was disappointed in the food, the pizza was good but they got the order wrong initially and the mussels were bland and lacked flavour. While the staff were friendly they didnt check in once to see if our food was okay and cleared plates while we were still eating. At the end of the day it was overpriced for pretty average service and food.

Second time going for dinner with a friend. First time was excellent overall, second time the food was on the salty side but that is subjective, hence still giving a 5 star rating. Service is good, wait time for food is also reasonable. Dim lighting and excellent atmosphere, perfect for a date night 😉

Food - Salty, too much seasoning and dessert was too sweet too. Everything was flavored too much. However, I loved how everything was displayed neatly. Service - good. Up selling was a bit too much but well served. Price - expensive. We paid 220 for two including 3 wines, everything in the photo and one dessert. Overall - the vibe and service were good but I felt it was overpriced and food was average.

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend — overall, a bit of a mixed bag. The house bread was easily the best part — warm, fresh, and full of flavor. We could’ve honestly just had that and been happy. I had the ravioli, which was okay — nothing special, but decent. My boyfriend’s risotto was slightly too salty, which took away from the dish overall. Service was fine — not bad, but nothing memorable. The restaurant decor, on the other hand, was really well done. Great ambiance and a nice place to sit and relax.

Amazing food and amazing service. Excellent cocktail list - the Strawberry Margarita was a particular favourite. Good vibe as well - loved the tunes!

My girlfriend and I had lunch at this restaurant and really enjoyed the experience. The décor was lovely, and the Italian baked bread selection was a highlight — soft, fresh, and full of flavour. The burnt butter, though a touch on the salty side, was rich and delicious, while the beetroot dip had a wonderful depth of flavour. The bruschetta was also quite good, though the portion felt a little small for the price. The Coconut Sunset mocktail was refreshing and nicely balanced. For our mains, we had the mushroom risotto and the scampi ravioli. I found the risotto a bit salty for my taste, but it was still very flavourful. My girlfriend felt the ravioli was slightly firm. The saltiness likely comes down to personal preference.

Riding the ego wave. So 1 star taken for that uncomfortable encounter . However the person who served us was very friendly and accommodating with great communicating skills... Place is a bit on the top end cost wise. . I eat out a lot so am comparing it with other similar restaurants. I like the area it is in quiet and peaceful. Went there midday on the week so not many people at all.

Love all their dishes basically, but current faves are burnt butter bread, scallop prawn pasta, rare-seared tuna, chips, grilled calamari salad and of course the sticky toffee pudding! We go there regularly with our little one. Wonderful attentive staff too. Connor is always helpful and friendly. Thank you :) Best restaurant in Auckland hands down!

De Niro is an Italian restaurant located in Elliott Stables, offering a variety of Italian dishes such as pizza, pasta, salads, and antipasti. The restaurant is known for its fresh and tasty food at reasonable prices. Visitors have praised the cozy and inviting decor as well as the impressive cocktails. Some recommended dishes include the truffle pasta and seafood risotto. Customers also enjoyed breakfast options like prosciutto with mushrooms and Parma ham.
seriously such good value for money! if you come here around lunch time you can get a really good portion of pasta for around $15 which in this economy is an absolute steal! my friends had the bolognese and lasagna while i had the prawn risotto and they absolutely do not skimp out on flavour or portion sizing despite the cheap pricing. staff are also very lovely and always smiling which is always a huge plus :)

It’s been a while since I’ve had Hawaiian pizza and I’m so glad I had the chance to enjoy it again at De Niro’s! The pizza had the perfect balance of crispy crust, melted cheese, and sweet pineapple paired with savory ham… I also tried their Chicken Fettuccine which was delicious—creamy, rich, and loaded with tender chicken. The combination of both dishes was simply yum!🤩 Highly recommended!

It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It was fresh though. The arrabiata could have been spicier. The fruit de Mare could have had more seafood instead it had a few shrimp and a couple of small prawns

Came here for lunch with my family, we had Di Pollo Pizza, Chicken Fettucine pasta, Truffle Spaghetti pasta and garlic bread. Service was quick, we all enjoyed our meals, Portions were perfect.
Sharna S — Google review
We had the truffle spaghetti, spaghetti carbonara and chicken salad. The truffle spaghetti was just normal mushrooms not truffle at all but since the price was really cheap and the portion was okay so no complaints.

Great place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere! The staff is lovely, and the Carbonara I had was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

A bustling, busy little lane way, the Elliott Stables at peak lunch time. My companion toyed with Cajun or Korean but I had my heart set on De Niro before arriving and it did not disappoint. We settled at a table and sipped a glass of velvety rosso. Companion ordered the Margherita pizza and I chose the fettuccine carbonara and chicken. Our plates arrived promptly and with minimal fuss....the carbonara was creamy with plump mushroom and lashings of bacony bits, chicken cooked to perfection and I had to reign in my natural instinct to shovel as much pasta into my mouth as the fork would allow. Outside manners! Partner wolfed down his pizza and exclaimed delight with his meal. Great atmosphere in the atrium outside the stables, smiling and no fuss approach to service and a great meal, will definitely go back, very happy with visit to De Niro. I have the Osso Bucco in my target next visit

Francesca's Pizzeria in Auckland is known for serving top-tier, super fresh pizza with great ingredients. The chef, who hails from Napoli, adds to the experience with a lively performance. While there may be a wait and occasional service issues, the delicious Pulcinella and Francesca's choice pizzas are worth it. The Tiramisu and Chocolate Lava cake also come highly recommended.
The wood-fired pizza was so delicious that after finishing one, we immediately ordered another.

The best pizza in Auckland by far and good value. The taste is leagues better than Napoli Contemporanea or the other pizza restaurants in Auckland.

Most likely best pizza in all NZ! It is a proper family business like no other, and you cannot love it. P.S. If you don’t like a bit of wait, stay clear as it can be busy as!
Pelepelc — Google review
I had an unfairly bad customer service, which made me very disappointed. It all started when the chef tried to charge me 28.5 for a 27.5 pizza. Not much, but why? After I pointed that out, he tried to bullshit me saying it is paywave surcharge, despite me paying debit & inserted. He promptly promised me a cash refund, but probably got angry with my "pettiness". He made me wait extra 5-7 minutes for my pizza (it was just sitting boxed in his prep area). He explained it: "the other guy came before you, so I couldn't release your pizza earlier" (mind blown). He then painstakingly counted 10x10c coins and gave me. Money is money but it did look like a further attempt to humiliate me. The pizza turned out average with a lot of soot on the bottom. On top of it, the wait was 35 minutes instead of "good 10". Alas, I can not recommend this place..

Honestly this is top tier pizza in Auckland super fresh with great ingredients, we got the Pulcinella and the Francesca’s choice both were great but I did like Pulcinella the best. We also got the Tiramisu and the Chocolate Lava cake, don’t skip the lava cake this was super good. Check this place out! I also took a photo of the menu cause it was hard to find a good copy.

Venosa is a charming Italian restaurant in Kingsland that embodies the essence of Italian hospitality and cuisine. The recipes, originating from the small town of Venosa in Southern Italy, have been passed down through generations. The menu features authentic dishes like Arancini, Melanzane Fritte, and a delectable Rigatoni with slow-cooked pork ragu. Guests can also enjoy a selection of silky smooth wines to complement their meal.
i was craving good italian food, and venosa didn’t disappoint! i got the spaghetti and meatballs and it was so comforting… the owner was so nice as well, I will definitely be back :D

A Hidden Gem in Kingsland – Venosa Stepping into Venosa felt like walking into a little Italian trattoria tucked away in a charming alley. Having traveled through Italy, I instantly recognized the familiar warmth and character of an authentic, family-run eatery. The space is small, cozy, and full of personality—exactly like the kind of spots you stumble upon in Italy that leave a lasting impression. On the night we visited, the owner was running the kitchen with just one other person after two staff had called in sick. Despite this, she handled everything with incredible grace, honesty, and warmth. She made us feel completely at home, which is something you don’t always find in restaurants. We sat down, enjoyed a drink, and ordered our meals. Each of us had a different pasta dish, and every bite transported us straight to Italy. The flavors were rich, authentic, and beautifully balanced. She told us she imports her tomatoes directly from Italy, which explains why everything tasted so true to its origins. Beyond the food, what made this experience so special was the owner herself. She’s an absolute gem—welcoming, genuine, and passionate about what she does. The service was heartfelt, and the atmosphere made us want to stay all night. Thank you for such a beautiful meal and experience. We’ll definitely be back!

POST REVIEW UPDATE: I'm editing to give update after seeing Venosa's response attempting to discredit my reviews validity. It's crucial to highlight that I was unprofessionally awakened the day after posting my review by a phone call from the owner herself about it. If that isn't concerning enough, wait until you hear what she had to say. Not only did she confirm our suspicions about the oxidised wine, having been opened a couple of days prior, but she also fabricated a story about someone reserving the exact table we were sitting at weeks in advance, insisting they had to be close to the door and no other table could be used despite them all being empty (notably, every table in the establishment is close to the door). Even if this story were true, we would have gladly shifted to another table, as every table was empty and without reservation signs though we were still hurried out. Additionally, the owner's claim that we were there for close to two hours is grossly exaggerated; our transaction history shows we were there for just over an hour (probably closer to 1 hr 10-mins). Its also interesting to see some other "reviews" trying to discredit mine as if they have been personally affected by it. I do wonder how legitimate they are as well as the sudden 5 star ratings venosa received by first time raters post my submission, it is curious..... _______________________________________________ OVERALL EXPERIENCE 1/5 We chose this restaurant based on the 4.5-star rating on First Tables and enticing photos. Our booking was for 6pm on a Tuesday. Arriving around 6:08pm, we were seated near the door, becoming the only patrons after another table left. Our dining experience unfolded like a fever dream, almost comical in various aspects. What was intended to be a meaningful celebratory dinner turned into an embarrassing ordeal, leaving us feeling like an unwelcome burden in the end. As a longtime user of First Tables, it saddens me to provide my first-ever negative First Table review. MENU 1/5 Disappointment set in due to the limited menu, especially the lack of our desired entrees (mozzarella sticks and fried chicken). The menus appeared worn, with laminated paper showing signs of age, covered in tape and marker for frequent changes. DRINKS 1/5 Our first wine choice was unavailable, and the second choice we ordered had a very oxidized taste, I have seen previous reviews mentioning old wine being served so I suspect the same has happened here. The Negroni was enjoyable at $16.5. The ginger beer and lemon lime & bitters, served in 300ml glasses, were nice but, questioning their $8.5 price compared to supermarket pricing and what other resturants price these at. SIDES 1/5 The anticipated sides were unavailable, and the substitutes were only satisfactory. The calamari resembled supermarket fare, and the bruschetta, while well-presented, featured bread of mediocre quality. MAINS 4/5 The mains Pork Ragu, Bacon Gnocchi, and Carbonara were delicious and definitely the stars of the show for our First Tables experience. The Pork Ragu lacked some pork but had a very flavorful sauce. The Bacon Gnocchi was excellent and probably the winning dish especially the sauce, though the portion felt small. The Carbonara was tasty but notably peppery. AMBIANCE 2/5 The decor, art & colorful tables, added a lot of character and personality to the small space showing there was a lot of love put into the presentation . However, messy table covers and a view of a dirty neighboring table for our dining duration diminished the experience. SERVICE 1/5 We were promptly seated and informed about the food delays as the Chef was stuck in traffic. Service was managed by a single person, resulting in understandable delays which we were fine with. Dessert ordering was delayed, and when we finally approached to order, we were told our booking time was up. We felt unwelcome after this comment especially as the restaurant was empty throughout our entire dining experience and there were no waiting parties at the end of it, we promptly paid and left.

The food at Venosa was delicious! We got the pork ragu and the creamy mushroom ravioli. This is the perfect spot if you’re looking for authentic Italian food. The ravioli was absolutely to die for! I am still dreaming about that creamy sauce! It was the best creamy sauce we have both ever had. The pork ragu was also amazing in flavour. Both dishes were spectacular. The service was prompt and great. We both really enjoyed our Italian wines they had a lovely flavour. The chef was so lovely and really cared if we enjoyed our food. We will definitely be back!

Was nice food but the meatballs were extremely overpriced for how they were presented. Looked a bit like something I could make at home and not for $22.50. The drinks came out very quickly but think they should get a few more workers as a couple on our table were informed that the wedges would take at least 25 minutes to make
Olivia D — Google review
Small cosy and welcoming place. Menu is mainly pasta, and there's only tiramisu as dessert (well there's also affogato which I would personally consider it as my after meal coffee) so it's a bit lack of variety. The pastas are not bad overall; tiramisu isn't bad bad, but not amazing neither. Could be more moist in my opinion
Charred L — Google review
Great food, great service! I got the gnocchi in truffle cream and my partner got the meatball pasta. Mama Mia! I looove the truffle cream so much I ordered a serving of garlic bread to mop up the cream. The meatballs taste like they are made in house and not frozen store bought ones. We also ordered the crumbed eggplant for our entrée. Omg, I never knew eggplant could taste like this! The manager on duty, Mamta, really completed the entire experience. She made us feel right at home with her superb service.

Piatti Italiani is a family-owned, authentic Italian restaurant in Waiake that offers delicious pasta dishes, specialties of the day, and perfect fine dining. This place oozes with the flavours of Italy and is the perfect spot to experience some seriously fancy Italian food.
Today was a special day for my partner and me, so we decided to try a new spot for pasta. We found an Italian restaurant in Browns Bay that turned out to be amazing. The pasta exceeded our expectations. Following the waiter's recommendation, we ordered the Linguine and Salmon Lasagna. We also started with Focaccia bread, which came with three flavourful dips and perfectly cooked flatbread. The Linguine was delicious, with a well-balanced sauce and a great mix of mushrooms and prawns. But the highlight for me was the Salmon Lasagna – the layers of salmon, bolognese, and cheese were perfect, offering both great taste and generous portions. We both loved the experience and enjoyed this cozy Italian restaurant. Highly recommend it – truly a hidden gem!

The second you walk in this restaurant, it immediately feels like home with a lovely atmosphere and very welcoming staff that make you feel like family. My partner and I ordered the Arrabbiata and cannelloni. It’s heartbreaking to admit but the food was begging for some seasoning. Both pastas just didn’t quite hit the spot with very generic easily homemade flavour. Prices were surprisingly high compared to other Italian restaurants that we’ve encountered. The service on the other hand made up for what the food lacked, waitresses were lovely and honestly made the experience bearable with their lively charm.

Very cosy atmosphere reminded us of the movie Nonnas! Great service (waitress was so accomodating and we loved her bubbly personality). We had calamari and focaccia for starters and both tasted amazing. For mains we had the seafood risotto and salmon lasagna. Lasagna tasted perfect although risotto could’ve used a bit more seasoning. Overall we enjoyed our night but sad that we needed to leave before trying any dessert!

We were 9 people, from the Methodist church, next door. We just finished our Lenten series of discussions and wanted to end our 6 week ‘stint’, with a nice shared meal together. We were a bit disappointed that Piatti didn’t serve pizzas, but, we ordered from the entree menu and it was tasty and plentiful. The welcome was exceptional. And our server was a delight. The atmosphere was a bit subdued, but I suppose, understandable, for a Wed night. We had the Meatballs, Garlic prawns, Garlic bread, Calamari rings, to name but a few. All in all, a great experience. Thanks again.

Loved the honey atmosphere! As for the staff, Daphne, our waitron, was absolutely incre. She went above and beyond for us. We were having a little celebration, and she took it upon herself to make it even more special! The food was fabulous, but it was Daphne and the atmosphere that'll bring me back!

Most of the food was well prepared and tasty. Portions were small and prices were quite high. We shared a delicious calamari starter for $20 and got 6 or 7 calamari rings (see pic) The biggest let down was the surf and turf main course which read well on the menu but was disappointing when delivered. The steak on the skewer was probably about 70g at most, and was overdone and tasted sour - and was probably over aged. This was accompanied by 6 small prawns and some really good chips and salad. The pasta was good and a more generous portion. Overall, it is not a venue I will be rushing to go back to for anything other than a pasta dish.

We celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary at Piatti, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome—friendly, attentive, and full of charm. We kicked off the evening with drinks and their Cheesy Garlic Bread (a must-try!), then moved on to the mains: Linguine and Lasagna. Both dishes were absolutely spot-on—rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. 👌 The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, ideal for a special occasion. We’ll definitely be booking a table again—Piatti has earned a spot on our go-to list for celebrations.

Great selection of delicious authentic Italian cucina (cuisine) from this family owned and operated restaurant in Waiake, North Shore. The vino (wine) list is a little light, but does have a some interesting looking Italian wines, and also to their credit, has a BYO option at a very fair corkage, so you can bring the perfect bottle to suit your taste. I took my fiancé there for the first time about a month ago, on a Friday night, the place was almost full, the atmosphere was warm and homely, and the cameriera (waitress) was very friendly and attentive, with detailed knowledge of the menu and options. We then received our antipasto platter and wine quickly, but that was followed by was an unacceptably long delay in the subsequent courses being presented. This may have been due to recent easing of covid restrictions and not predicting the subsequent surge in mecenatismo (patronage). However, to their credit, the manager brought us out complimentary wine refreshments and apologies, even though we did not complain about the service 👍👍👍. Overall - friendly, genuine, authentic, delicious, homely, local eatery. Well worth a return visit or two to try some of the other appetizing looking dishes on the menu...

Daphnes Taverna is a new Modern Greek restaurant that just opened up on Ponsonby Road in Auckland. The restaurant is decorated with Mediterranean flair and serves up delicious food in minutes. The service is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable.
Always a good time, and even better shared. We had the blue cheese Brussels Sprouts, ricotta dumplings, Wagyu flatbread and pork skewers (not shown as we got too excited). Perfect amount for 2 people (with a little bit leftover). Everything was delicious - I couldn't pick a favourite. It's not a cheap spot, but, I do think it's worth it. Been here several times, and will come back again.

Had a fantastic dining experience at Daphne. The highlight of the night was definitely the woodfired market fish dish — a beautiful combination of clams, mussels, prawns, and fresh fish that captured the essence of the sea. Every bite was a burst of oceanic flavour, delicately balanced with herbs and seasoning. It felt like a celebration of fresh seafood done right. Also really enjoyed the pork belly skewers — crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, paired perfectly with the pickled rhubarb and fennel. A great contrast of textures and flavours.

It's tricky organising group dining, but the team at Daphnes made it very easy. Sadly, we had some people pull out quite late in the piece due to illness/family commitments, which made things a bit awkward at the start. However - the food was non-stop delicious, varied, and creative, and we felt there was plenty for everyone. The lamb literally melted in your mouth! Our servers were lovely. And the drinks selection was excellent, including a delicious red from Spain. A very enjoyable night out.

We have been a frequent customer at Zac’s Pizza, mostly ordering takeouts, but we decided to stop by for a dinner this time, and it did not disappoint! We started with the cocktail shrimp, which came in a generous portion and was absolutely delicious. The salad was fresh and vibrant, complemented by a unique and flavourful special ingredient sauce that really set it apart. For the main course, I had the steak, and it was everything I hoped for—tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, with a rich and savory mushroom sauce. The service was excellent, and despite the restaurant being busy, we only had to wait around 20 minutes for our food. The staff here are always so friendly, with a smile on their faces, making us feel right at home. Plus, there’s plenty of parking out front, which makes everything even more convenient. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

We visited this spot in Kumeu with high hopes, as it's local and we absolutely love supporting our hard working local businesses. This place has a lot of potential to be a great Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was welcoming and had a good vibe, which definitely set the tone for a fun meal. The staff were friendly and provided great service throughout our visit. However, when it came to the pizza, it was a bit of a letdown. While the amount of cheese was spot on and satisfying, the quality of the meat was really not good. It was very processed, similar to what you’d find on a Domino’s or other cheap chain pizzas and didn’t live up to the authentic, high-quality flavors we were hoping and paid for. Overall, we really hope they reconsider the ingredients and improve the pizza so we can come back and enjoy it as a proper Italian dining experience. The place is very tired but has great potential, and with a few changes, like a nice music and good quality ingredients, it could definitely become a favorite in the area. We really need a nice, quality restaurant in this area and this could totally be the one.

The food is very tasty. But, the service is very poor. They cook very slowly. I understand why it's slow because the same people cook for both the restaurant and the takeaway. The hall, where the tables look like a vogon, is inconvenient (Alcohol must be brought with you. We were there once, we won't come to this place anymore.

Come and support this business!! A quaint retro, step back in time, family owned pizzeria in Kumeū….that’s not a foreign owned USA chain. We should be supporting more local businesses!! The service was brilliant…we had a young waitress who was bubbly and attentive, she made our experience even better. She was fantastic. We ordered the meat lovers pizza, the chicken peri peri pizza and the fries. The fries were brilliant….probably some of the best I’ve had from a pizzeria. Recommend. The pizza bases were great. The dough was proofed and cooked very well……but the quality of the toppings needs improving. The only thing on point was the cheese. The meat lovers pizza was good, but the quality of the meat was poor (if they used a different ham, it would have elevated it more). The chicken peri peri pizza was just ok. I feel the ratio of capsicum/vege mix was off (it wasn’t measured) so this unbalanced the pizza and the chicken flavors were lost. Maybe more chicken as it was more a vegetarian pizza. We had a great night dining in at Zac’s…….come and support this great business! I’m looking forward to their improvements and to trying them again.

Ordered a Fungi pizza (3/10) so bland I added salt to every slice I ate which Is something I’ve never done. Honey prawns - overcooked and rubbery. Flavour nice though And the star of the show- lasagna. One mouthful was enough. Drenched in tomato sauce it was basically swimming. Foul. The chefs need to have a look in the mirror

We ordered from here via Uber Eats and were so disappointed. The Lasagne and Spag Bol honestly tasted like someone just dumped a tin of chopped tomatoes on pasta and called it dinner. Not what I was expecting, but at least it was quick! I did try emailing them but nothing, so here's your warning to avoid! Easier to pop to Pak n Save and inhale a tin of tomatoes 😏

SPIGA Italian Restaurant, located in Auckland, is a culinary gem run by Chef Fabrizio Napolitano and his wife Taryne. The restaurant offers a blend of northern and southern Italian flavors with a focus on artisanal products steeped in history. The menu features contemporary classic starters, pizza, and pasta alongside seasonal specials like anchovy and pistachio carbonara with squid ink Maccheroncini latini.
Two years ago, Spiga was the place where we had our first date. Now, as a married couple, we returned for lunch, and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. The cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional service made it a truly special experience. Fungi Pizza was absolutely incredible—hands down the best fungi pizza in Auckland! The crust was perfectly crispy, and the mushrooms were so fresh and flavorful. We were so impressed that we asked the staff where they sourced their mushrooms. They were incredibly friendly and took the time to explain everything in detail, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We can’t wait to come back and create more beautiful memories here.

Went to Spiga last night for our anniversary and had a fantastic, memorable experience. The service was lovely, the staff made us feel very looked after and congratulated us on our anniversary, the food was beautiful, and the restaurant was lovely with the afternoon sun coming through the doors. We had the burrata with foccacia, the seafood risotto, funghi pizza and tiramisu. They were all excellently well balanced, and the tiramisu was one of the best we've tried. The drinks were lovely, and the wait staff helped us select wine to go with our meal when we were having trouble deciding. Overall, a lovely evening, and we will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

The Funghi pizza was the standout for our carbohydrate starved party. Service was friendly and professional although slightly slow on offering a refill of beverages. I found the space a little sterile and truth be told the general vibe was also a tad pretentious. Overall the food was good though and well priced. Inversely, The biggest negative for me was that the drinks were overpriced.

We went for lunch looking for proper pasta and we found it at Spiga. Lots of Black Truffle shaved on top of our Pizza Fungi, Taglatellia and Scarpinocc. The Beetroot Salad was refreshing and perfectly dressed with Spiga Extraordinary Olive Oil. Kind service and a cool atmosphere made for a memorable lunch. Thank you.

Arte della Pasta is a must-visit for Tiramisu lovers, offering creamy smooth desserts made with family recipes. The restaurant serves amazing fresh pasta, including specials like spaghetti with mortadella and lamb ragu. The gnocchi and tiramisu are highly recommended, and visitors can also enjoy a pasta making class hosted by the warm and welcoming Italian owners. With generous portions and well-seasoned dishes, Arte della Pasta provides an authentic Italian dining experience that's not to be missed.
Everything is so good and fresh here - by far the best pasta I have ever eaten in Auckland! Plus, everyone inside is so sincere and friendly, I am so impressed! Thank you for the amazing food and the great service! My review is truly heartfelt! Will definitely come back often! :)

Wow! Just wow... If you're looking for a little piece of Italy in Auckland, then this is the place for you. Authentic Italian food, fresh pasta, to summarize the experience it was the taste of real Italy in my mouth. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, little quent restaurant on the corner. As well as the beautifully executed dishes, the customer service was just 5/5. Very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be returning back to try more.
A R — Google review
Absolutely loved it. The flavour hit me from the very first bite – so rich and comforting. The service was honestly the sweetest, everyone was so kind and welcoming. I had the beef bolognese and it was seriously delicious. The pasta of the day was seafood and it was just beautiful – fresh and full of flavour. Would 100% come back again.
Ariel C — Google review
I've been here twice before, and this time was just as good as the other times. The portion size is really good, much better than most other Italian restaurants and the quality of the food is consistently great. The staff are super lovely and it's fun to watch the pasta being made if you pop in on an afternoon.

Mirella’s class was an absolute 5/5 experience! We had the pleasure of making gnocchi for my friend’s bridal shower, and it was nothing short of amazing. Mirella’s warm, welcoming energy made the class feel so relaxed and fun. The vibe was perfect it was clear she’s passionate about what she does, and her enthusiasm was contagious. Everyone had a blast learning the process together, and the gnocchi turned out delicious! Not only did we learn something new, but we also shared laughter and great moments. Highly recommend!
Trish F — Google review
If you’re looking for an authentic home made Italian pasta, this is where you should go. Mirella is hilarious and such a character, and the pasta and sauces she make are incredible. Definitely will go back when I’m on my cheat day!
Dean K — Google review
Amazing experience! We took a group of 35 for a gnocchi class and had such an awesome time. Great class, atmosphere, and the food was incredible. Would definitely recommend for a group event.
Kayla N — Google review
A restaurant that specializes in handmade pasta not only requires exceptional craftsmanship but also a passion for pasta culture and confidence in every strand of noodle produced by hand. For the first time, I naturally chose the chef’s daily special, MIRELLA’S DAILY SPECIAL. I’m not sure if the dish was served by Mirella herself, but the woman was very stylish. In a way, if I had met her on an Italian street without the pasta, I might have mistaken her for a Milan fashion designer. Seeing her dressed in bright, elegant clothing while making pasta instantly elevated the sense of ceremony surrounding the dish. Each bite of pasta offers a distinct texture, yet when bitten into, it has just the right amount of elasticity. New Zealand fish fillets are usually as dry as chicken breast, but their battered and fried fish retained a pleasant tenderness and was well-seasoned. Every bite felt like a gentle spring sea breeze caressing the taste buds. The most impressive aspect was the sauce—besides the salty freshness of the seafood, there were tiny slivers of pickled lime that added a refreshing touch, like a spring breeze brushing across the face. A good restaurant doesn’t really need a story; it naturally radiates an attraction that draws in diners who are equally serious about food.

Elliott Stables is a vibrant food court housed in a former warehouse with an industrial-chic ambiance. Located in a bustling city area undergoing significant development, it's set to become even more valuable due to planned improvements like the City Rail Link and Aotea precinct. This epicurean village offers specialty gourmet shops and diverse international eateries, providing a unique dining experience.
Check out Mace, Indian quisine. My chicken curry was absolutely stunning. Medium spice with big chunky pieces of chicken, honestly our meals were very flavoursome, medium is a good level of spice, just saying!!! Naan was delicate and so tasty 😋
Andrew K — Google review
It is not easy to find a food place when traveling with more people or bigger groups. This food court is the perfect solution for that, as there are many cuisines available. You can still all order what you like, and still sit and eat together. The order process with the buzzers are incredibly easy. Great food court!

This food court was become a go-to spot, the aesthetic interior design that reminds me of Europe. They feature cuisines all around the world and there is definitely one that will increase your appetite😋😋 I love how the staff are efficient when it comes to clearing table and taking finished dishes away. Loves the soft serve and tacos!!
Lo J — Google review
Kind of reminds me of a outside pub seating area food court. It is nice to have such a selection of food but could imagine it fills and gets rowdy really fast in the weekends Felt pretty clean and the food places looked clean as well. Would come here with friends or partner, not with the kids
Matt M — Google review
Stunned to have dinner here with my family. Not too crowded but the parking was terrible. I’m surprised to see a lot of food choices in one place. It’s like having a tour around the world and enjoying their cuisines! Can’t wait to try other restaurants.

Awesome atmosphere and great food. Love to go here and order a little something from everywhere! Makes for a fun dining experience.

It is a cool food place in the city. Many food shops inside. You can sit anywhere and eat. Nice but sometimes busy. Nice small food court.

Elliot Stables has a cool industrial vibe with a great variety of food options, something for everyone, and some places even serve alcohol. Unfortunately, I had a long wait for my meal at Saigon Social, and while the food was okay once it arrived, the flavours felt a little off.

Palato is a pasta-focused restaurant located in Browns Bay, offering a delightful dining experience. The restaurant takes pride in making fresh pasta and emphasizes that it's a pasta restaurant rather than an Italian one. Visitors rave about the exceptional food, describing it as fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented with each dish crafted with care. The staff is praised for their friendly and attentive service, enhancing the overall dining experience. Despite being understaffed at times, the customer service remains exceptional.
Amazing food - one of the best pasta I’ve ever had, excellent service - very warm and attentive and nice atmosphere. Couldn’t fault anything. The chef acknowledged us and thanked us before we left. How lovely! Will absolutely come back to try something different in the menu and the dessert!
Rachel U — Google review
Fabulous freshly made pasta dishes and deserts with delicious wine matches and friendly personal service. Thank you Palato we couldn’t be happier with our visit and will visit again. A buzzing spot with a great atmosphere in the middle of Browns Bay, we are so lucky to have a restaurant of this calibre in our neighbourhood.
Amanda W — Google review
It was our first time dining here and we simply loved it! The cosy and relaxing atmosphere, friendly service and oh boy the food was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be coming back to taste all the pastas.
Andrew L — Google review
Didn’t expect to find such a top-notch handmade pasta place in Browns Bay—easily one of the best in Auckland, definitely top three in terms of pasta. Some of the pasta shapes here are ones you won’t even see anywhere else. The service is also super professional, and even by the end of the meal, the plates stay warm so the sauce doesn’t get cold and greasy. Really hope they stay open for the long haul—this place is a hidden gem for us.

We had a truly wonderful evening at Palato last night to celebrate my mum’s 70th birthday. The food was absolutely phenomenal — we sampled a range of pastas, each one showcasing unique and delicious flavours. The housemade herbed focaccia with Palato’s San Marzano tomato sauce was an unexpected and delightful start to the meal. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and very kid-friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable for our whole family. The service was attentive, friendly, and seamless from start to finish. A special thank you to the team for the lovely handwritten birthday card — such a thoughtful touch that meant a lot to us. Thank you so much for your outstanding hospitality and for helping us create a truly special celebration. We’ll definitely be back!
Kevin W — Google review
The pasta was melt in your mouth delicious! It was actually the best pasta I’ve ever had. The pasta itself was so fresh and cooked beautifully, the chef said they cook it all there as well as the focaccia bread. I wish we lived in NZ because this would definitely be our local for date nights.
Deanne — Google review
We had a great experience at Palato. Palato is a small restaurant and has a lovely feel and the staff were fab. We really enjoyed all our dishes, we had 3 courses, plus drinks. Not to be confused with an Italian restaurant- they are a pasta restaurant and we liked their twist on traditional pasta dishes. My partner enjoyed his pasta so much he would have liked just a bit more.
Amy P — Google review
Literally the best pasta me and my wife have had in years. The service is also pretty good. Will definitely revisit and try the rest of the dishes on the menu.

Market
The Britomart Saturday Market in Auckland is a vibrant inner-city market offering an array of artisanal goods and fresh produce. Open every Saturday morning, the market features food trucks, handmade jewelry, fresh flowers, and craft stalls. Visitors can enjoy breakfast options such as crepes, pastries, and Hungarian elephant ears while exploring the diverse offerings. With close proximity to the CBD's public transport hub, it's a convenient weekend destination.
It’s the first time we have been to Britomart Saturday Market today, 17/2/2024. The ambience there was very cosy and comfortable. There were lots of different stalls, such as food stalls, handicrafts, second hand Lliadro figurines, Wedgwood tablewares and collections, crochet dolls and decorations, flowers, fresh vegetables, etc. My husband and I spent around half an hour venturing different stalls and had friendly chats with some of the stall owners. We both love the Rocky Road cakes and cupcakes there where they offered free tasting. We highly recommend you to pop in there on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.
Addie L — Google review
A must-visit for food lovers and market enthusiasts. The Britomart Saturday Market is an absolute gem in the heart of the city. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a vibrant atmosphere, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and an amazing selection of artisan goods and delicious street food. The variety of stalls was impressive—everything from organic fruits and vegetables to handcrafted cheeses, baked goods, and international cuisine. I particularly loved the fresh pastries! The vendors were friendly and passionate about their products, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The location is fantastic—right in Britomart, so it was easy to get to and surrounded by great cafes and shops. Whether you are looking for a relaxed weekend outing, high-quality local offerings, or just some delicious treats, this market is well worth a visit. I will definitely be coming back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended.
Terence K — Google review
A great little Saturday market in the middle of the CBD. There’s a good variety of food stalls representing many different cuisines and cultures, as well as some interesting goods. A couple of highlights for us were the Spanish paella (by Gilda) and the smoked fish guy (who’s been smoking fish for 50 years!). Their foods were absolute standouts. A sign of a good market is that we left stuffed and I immediately needed a nap upon finding my couch. 🤣
Kenneth K — Google review
Petite and Dainty That is the best word to describe this place. And personally, I am sure that there is so much potential and room for improvement. Since the Public Carpark is only a few minutes in walking distance (very pricey for weekends), there are stalls selling food and stuff; it should be able to attract more people. Furthermore, the location is right at CBD, a great location for people to hang and chill. It would be great to see an increase in the number of stalls. Anyway, we drove more than half an hour to have breakfast at Britomart Saturday Market and we were mostly Not disappointed. We ordered a few items and basically, we ordered almost everything in the market. Bob's Burgers - 2 young fella running this stall selling burger. We ordered two Breakfast Burger because my wife and I love bacon. However, we both have different favourite sauces and I love mustard. According to my children, my tasted better. I must also mention that the beef tasted good and juicy. This stall deserve 4 stars ratings. Gourmet Hotdogs - A moving food trailer that has wheels. Again, we ordered Original Dog and Chilli Cheese Dog. I loved the Chilli Cheese Dog. It gives a whole different gastronomical pleasure when the dog is drown with Chilli. Then my son would not settle for just one dog and he ordered a German Jumbo and it was heavenly. For that last dog, I gave another well deserving 4 stars ratings. Chic Kin - What can I say about fried chicken? It is deep fried stuff, what's not to like about an unhealthy deep fried stuff. But, the fried chicken are fried a little too long and therefore becoming a little too hard. The sweet Korean Chilli really makes some improvement however, I can only give this stall 3 stars. Mussel Fritters - We ordered a Mussel Fritter and Seafood Fritter. This something close to home in Asia. The Mussel Fritter is great but the Seafood Fritter, is not really appetizing as the fish is really hard. I ordered extra eggs and I make sure that it is runny. I was really hoping that the eggs are fried on the Fritters rather than separate. A four stars for the Mussel Fritters. . . Finally Coffee - As a coffee lover, I have very high expectation in what I drink. Bought a little cinamon bread and coffee (Americano). I like the friendliness of the service by a very young fella. He asked me which I preferred, Bohemian Rapsody or Stairway to Heaven and I chose the latter. But really I prefer Hotel California. Anyway, the coffee was not great and I will give them 4 stars for service and 2 stars for Coffee. I will come back again and hopefully there will be more stalls added. I particularly like the live singing. The violinist is superb and blended so well with the guitarist and singing.

Fantastic market, great selection of food and wares. First time I ate till I burst and spent a lot of money. Live music and great vibes.
Lynne L — Google review
Some lovely stalls here. The food stalls looked delicious. There was lots to choice, from organic coffee to Caribbean food. There was lots of baked goods stalls, beautiful flower stalls and crafted items.
DMA — Google review
Living 5 minutes walk from this market makes it a bonus. It is busy every Saturday and there are so many great stalls. There are sometimes different stalls from week to week which makes it even more attractive. And there are the regulars ... you have to try Tulay's Turkish food, it's sensational. The Japanese burgers are amazing as well. And try some of the dumplings from any of the stalls and they are as good as anywhere you will find in the City. Then there are all the other food stalls offering a huge variety of food and beverage options including some amazing bakery options. Don't forget to try the organic coffee while you are there, well worth making the effort.
