Yokohama Chinatown is the largest of its kind in Japan, boasting around 250 Chinese-owned shops and restaurants, as well as a vibrant entry gate. Located near Shin-Yokohama Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, it serves as a major transportation hub for travelers. While not centrally located, the area offers convenient access to popular attractions via train services to Yokohama Station and other nearby stations.
There’s a very nostalgic vibe about the Yokohama Chinatown, the infrastructure is beautiful, streets are clean. Lots of shops that are beautifully decorated and Chinese Japanese food. It’s one of the largest China town in the world so be sure to visit if you are in Yokohama.
Issac T — Google review
A walk through Yokohama’s Chinatown turned out to be a real discovery for me. It’s not just a tourist street lined with restaurants and shops, but a whole district with a rich history and an atmosphere all its own. It also happens to be the largest Chinatown in Japan and one of the biggest in the world—you can really feel its scale the moment you pass through the colorful gates and find yourself surrounded by glowing lanterns and the aromas of street food. The story of this place goes back to the 19th century, when Chinese merchants began settling here after the port of Yokohama opened. Over time, they built temples, opened shops and restaurants, and formed a vibrant community. The area was destroyed more than once—first during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, and later in World War II—but each time it was rebuilt, coming back even brighter and more lively. Chinatown is especially impressive during the Chinese New Year. The streets fill with music, lion and dragon dances, lanterns light up everywhere, and the entire district turns into a massive celebration. It feels like you’ve stepped into another world. What struck me most was the Kanteibyo Temple—such a beautiful and powerful spot that gives the whole walk a deeper meaning. Chinatown is a place I’ll return to again and again, whether it’s to try new dishes, notice hidden architectural details, or simply soak up the festive atmosphere that seems to live here every day.

Vibrant and delicious cultural experience! Yokohama Chinatown is full of energy, colorful streets, and amazing food! From authentic Chinese restaurants and street snacks to unique shops and beautiful temples, there’s so much to explore. The atmosphere is lively and festive, perfect for wandering, tasting new flavors, and taking photos. A must-visit spot for foodies and anyone wanting a cultural adventure near Yokohama!
J _ — Google review
It was my first time visiting a chinatown and while from the outside the decoration looks inviting and traditional, the locals that work in the stores and restaurants were not pleasant. Many will try to lure you into their store and wont let you walk in peace. Many restaurants dont offer english menus and when i ordered something i was overcharged by double the price. While the town itself is a nice sight, i would stay far away from non english speaking locals and rather grab a drink somewhere else in yokohama.
Simo C — Google review
Very lively and colourful neighbourhood. Yet, not jam packed with tourists as in central Tokyo for example. You can actually walk and admire things here! Many restaurants and interesting shops and there’s a train station very nearby if you’re coming from central Tokyo.
André M — Google review
Yokohama Chinatown is incredibly vibrant, with rows upon rows of restaurants, food stalls, and colorful storefronts. The air is filled with enticing aromas—from freshly steamed buns to sizzling stir-fries. Everywhere you turn, there’s something tempting to try, making it a true feast for the hungry stomach.
Celine W — Google review
The last time I visited Yokohama Chinatown was over 40 years ago. It has some changes. However, one thing that remains unchanged is that it attracts many tourists. The Yokohama Chinatown is similar to most Chinatowns in other countries. It has a lot of Chinese restaurants and stores, where I can enjoy a good meal, buy some snacks, and grab some drinks.
Michael W — Google review
More than one time I visited Yokohama, it’s really tourist attraction area, nearly 250 Chinese related stores and restaurants Access: nearest station Motomachi-Chukagai (minatomirai line), take exit 1 and walk for few mins, we can see china gate or entrance Wide verity of food option and souvenir shops(bit costly I felt😂😂 since in Temu we can get many cheep item in less cost, however quality matters ) Try: coconut milk and potato cheese ball, pineapple cake, bear bun etc., Visit temple located near food street, take some rest and again start walk slowly to find some unique souvenir

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, also known as Aka Renga in Japanese, is a historic brick warehouse that has been transformed into a vibrant shopping and cultural center. Located in the Minato Mirai 21 district of Yokohama, it is surrounded by popular attractions such as the Yokohama Museum of Art, Cosmo World, and the Cup Noodle Museum.
Great selection of items! From jewelries and quirky stationeries to leather goods and interesting snacks and drinks. Go here for more special items rather than cheap souvenirs that you're gonna buy 15 or 20 pieces of.. as items here are quite pricey. Warehouse 2 is where it's at as warehouse 1 has much fewer stores and only have 1 cafe. Is there a lot of people? Yea. That's the crowd size you expect for this type of place. Just learn to accept it and you'll have a good time. Would definitely visit again if I get the chance.
V V — Google review
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Review on 15/4/2025 A brisk walk led me to the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, an iconic landmark at close proximity to Yokohama's waterfront. Before reaching the two historic buildings, I passed through large, open squares for hosting events. On this visit, the Flower Gardens 2025 were in full bloom, transforming the open space into a kaleidoscope of colours. Originally constructed as customs warehouses in the early 20th century, the two red-brick buildings have since been restored and repurposed into a lively hub for shopping, dining, and cultural events. Since their reopening in 2002, they have breathed fresh energy into Yokohama’s waterfront. Though Japan is home to several Red Brick Warehouse complexes, none belongs to a formal chain. Each stands as a unique landmark, preserving its own local history while serving the community in distinct ways. While Building No. 1 is primarily dedicated to hosting art exhibitions, concerts, and performances, my time was spent exploring Building No. 2, a treasure trove of boutique stores. These shops showcase everything from local crafts, artisanal goods, and souvenirs, to intricate handmade jewellery, exquisite glassware, and carefully crafted homeware. One feature that stood out during my visit was the impeccable presentation of Japanese products. The packaging of goods was not only visually stunning but also reflected exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. However, I was taken aback to find Chinese mooncakes for sale at the cake store. These pastries with sweet fillings hold profound Chinese cultural significance, traditionally reserved for celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. I could not help but wonder — was this a misunderstanding or a sign of cultural misappropriation? While the recipe may be used year-round, the term "mooncake" carries tradition and meaning that extends beyond mere confectionery. Toward the rear of Building No. 2 lies a variety of cafés and restaurants, offering a delightful selection of cakes, pastries, and other culinary delights. From Japanese-inspired treats to Western-style desserts, there is something for every palate. The fusion of flavours creates an enticing blend of East meets West. The presence of artisan bread and freshly brewed coffee store within the Red Brick Warehouse is a testament to their swift and undeniable integration into the fabric of everyday Japanese life.

Bustling with activities on a very warm and bright day - more locals than foreign tourists. Variety of foods and Japan made goods. Lovely to browse and enjoy the cooler air conditioning and lots to see and do
Calvin H — Google review
Such a nice place! The walk to get there is very soothing and the building is beautiful. The shops inside sell mostly leather goods, jewellery and home decor but everything has a quality feel to it and many things seem to be made locally. The gourmet section is also great. Highly recommended! And the balcony is a super nice place to just sit and relax a bit…
André M — Google review
We happened to pass by the Red Brick Warehouse with friends, and the sea breeze here was absolutely refreshing. Inside the warehouse, you’ll find a variety of creative boutiques and restaurants—perfect for browsing around and spending a leisurely afternoon. You can also enjoy a nice meal while taking in the charming atmosphere. Conveniently, there’s a water bus stop right here, offering a scenic ride to Yamashita Park.
Dean C — Google review
The Red Brick warehouse in Yokohama is one of the most famous tourist attractions. We spent almost three hours here because of the weather. We were there on a rainy day. The indoor shopping has become our favorite spot. The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is essentially a shopping mall featuring numerous restaurants and stores. It is huge. I don't think I had checked out more than half of the shopping center after three hours of walking around. We made some purchases and had drinks and snacks. The shopping experience is good, except it was very crowded all the time.
Michael W — Google review
Let me level with you: the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse looks like it was designed by a graphic designer with a thing for industrial chic and disposable income. On paper, it’s perfect—historic brick architecture, wide open waterfront, and enough boutique shops to bankrupt a small nation. In reality? It’s basically a shopping mall that got tenure. The shops? Overpriced. Like, “We know you’re from a cruise ship and you won’t check the exchange rate” overpriced. Leather handbags, handmade glass, and 800-yen fridge magnets line up with military precision, screaming, “You forgot to bring home a souvenir, didn’t you, Greg?” Now, to be fair, the exterior plaza is gorgeous. Wide open space, clean, breezy, and I can totally see this place transforming during festivals or night markets. You give this place a food truck rally or a jazz fest and it jumps up a full star, maybe two. But when it’s just regular shopping hours? It feels like walking through an Etsy algorithm that learned to charge rent. Would I come back? Yeah. But not for the shopping. I’d come back to watch people, sip a beer, and wait for the kind of overpriced artisan taco that says, “You’re not in Tokyo anymore—you’re in Yokohama, baby.”
Jim R — Google review
A must-visit spot in Yokohama! The red brick warehouse has a great mix of history, shopping, and dining. Perfect for relaxing walks and photos.

Yamashita Park, established in 1930, is a charming seaside oasis that beckons visitors with its vibrant flower beds and impressive monuments. Nestled along the waterfront, this picturesque park offers stunning views of the city skyline, especially at night when the lights twinkle against the backdrop of the big wheel. With plenty of benches scattered throughout, it's an ideal spot for relaxation and people-watching.
“Visited Yamashita Park TODAY( Monday, May 12, 2025). The park was beautifully in bloom, filled with an impressive variety of roses in every color and form. The atmosphere was vibrant and serene, truly making it a ‘rosy’ day in every sense. From the fragrant air to the stunning visuals, everything about the area felt charming and uplifting. It was a wonderful experience, and I genuinely enjoyed the peaceful, rosy vibes throughout the park.”

On Sept 23, 2025, my wife and I came to this waterfront park. Judging from the number of visitors and activities here, the Park was a popular one. We didn’t walk much but took a tour bus from a nearby station - we bought a one-day bus/train ticket for Yen700.

Beautiful park, perfectly manicured. There are a few benches around the gardens to sit and rest your feet. Very quiet here at 4pm on Tuesday 21st October

Very nice park to visit, enough benches and resting place. Amazing view and nice green area to be. Very nice to walk from china town to the red brick warehouses. Loved it. We watched the harbor and it was very chill and surprising

Lovely rose garden and very nice weather. We walk from China Town to Yamashita Park, Yokohama Red Brick warehouse, and Cosmo World. Enjoy the day by walk only. No need to catch the train at all.

Poppy — Google review
Very pleasant park with sweeping views over the bay and impressive floral arrangements
James W — Google review
Very well maintained open space. Plenty of open grass space for picnic or simply have a nap. It's within proximity to the cruise ship docking port, so super popular with the tourists and visitors. It's a great walk- 5KM and can make your way towards the red brick building which is a hub for food and gifts. Depending on weekends, there might be markets or events. I was lucky to come during a massive dog owner event and all the stores were dog related items for sale. Also nearby there's the ropeway and a large shopping centre. Also a great place for morning running if you have close by accommodation.

The Yokohama Landmark Tower is an iconic structure that stands tall in Japan, featuring a luxurious hotel, bustling mall, and modern office spaces. One of its highlights is the Sky Garden observation deck, where visitors can ascend in the country’s fastest elevator to enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views that stretch all the way to Tokyo and even majestic Mt. Fuji! The tower's stunning lights reflect beautifully on the bay waters below, creating a romantic atmosphere for couples strolling nearby.
Tallest building and fastest elevator in Japan! Amazing experience. At the top floor you can take in the view of Tokyo from various direction. Not only the tower but the whole mall and area surrounding are worth checking out.
Vivian C — Google review
Amazing panoramic views of Yokohama. The elevator is super fast and quiet. It is fun seeing the red brick warehouse, ferris wheel and other rides from far away. Take note of the photo signs facing each direction that explains the buildings in the view. There are places to sit, rest and have a drink without feeling rushed to leave. Other activities for children were taking place too.
Victoria B — Google review
An absolutely stunning view from the visitor's plattform. I was there on a Friday for the sunset, didn't have to que at all and went directly with a few people to the top for 1000 yen. It was absolutely worth it! Though the skies were clear, Mt Fuji was hidden as well as the setting sun. Nevertheless I went a few rounds, took seat at varois occasions and enjoyed a beer while the day fades and the lights go on in the agglomeration. In contrast to Tokyo Tower and the Sky tree, there are very few visitors and that alone is fantastic! No queing to go up or down and the possibility to watch the city from different spaces (on the Sky tree there are lines for certain spots). The highlights are the harbor, the ferris wheel and other rides below the tower and the surrounding city.
Walther X — Google review
Amazing experience. The views form the sky garden 69th floor are simply amazing. Nice little cafe and souvenir shop up there as well. 1000 yen admissions. The evelvator goes 28 mph. Your ears will pop. Check it out when visiting Yokohama. You can even see Mt Fuji.
Freddy C — Google review
The former tallest building in Japan, you can take a quick ride to the 69th floor for great views from Yokosuka to Mount Fuji. There is a library, coffee shop, and gift shop at the top. There is ample seating and space to spend time at the top of the building. Highly recommend giving this a try if you are in Yokohama.
Pbandj37 — Google review
It was once the tallest building in Japan, now the second tallest but it still holds the record with the fastest elevator in Japan running at over 750 meters per second. The views are stunning and the sweets at the observation deck gift shop are tasty. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Yokohama.
Blazej K — Google review
I love the atmosphere on top of the tower. It is so much more relaxed than the Skytree with a lot less crowding. You can grab a drink from the bar and watch the sunset without time pressure. Both times I went to the tower I was able to see Fuji, one time only the silhouette and the other a clear view. Incredible.
Thorsten F — Google review
A fabulous view from the Observation deck; a good shop with a wide range of souvenir goods, and a cafe to buy snacks, and then sit back and enjoy the view some more. The day I went it was not crowded but this might be unusual.

Yokohama Station is the largest railway terminal in Yokohama, providing access to multiple JR lines, private railway lines, and a subway line. Situated in downtown Yokohama, it is surrounded by various commercial facilities including renowned department stores like Yokohama Takashimaya and Sogo Yokohama. The area also features discount shops and major electronics retailers, offering a wide range of Japanese products such as kimono, accessories, sweets, cosmetics, and electronics.
Review of Yokohama Station Yokohama Station might seem overwhelming at first glance, but as a tourist, I found it surprisingly easy to navigate—thanks to Google Maps. Seriously, if you’re not sure where to go, just plug in your destination, and it’ll guide you step-by-step, from the platform you need to which exit to take. The ticket machines are a lifesaver, too. There’s an option to switch them to English, which makes buying tickets way less stressful. Everything is straightforward, and even if you mess up or get confused, the staff are super helpful. I had to ask for directions once, and they were patient and clear about which train I needed to take. The trains themselves are clean and feel really well-maintained. I loved how punctual everything was—like, to the minute. It makes planning your day so much easier when you know exactly when your train will show up. Plus, even during busier times, it didn’t feel chaotic or uncomfortable. The whole experience was smooth and surprisingly comfortable, even for someone new to Japan’s train system. If you’re visiting Yokohama, don’t stress about getting around. Yokohama Station might look like a maze at first, but with a little help from Google Maps and the friendly staff, it’s totally manageable—and actually kind of fun!
Summer — Google review
Avoid Yokohama Station guest service office, it's always long queue and is super super slow moving. Otherwise is an incredibly busy hub, connecting you to so much of the city and beyond! For families, it's super convenient with plenty of shops and eateries right inside and connected. While the station itself is a transport nexus, it's your gateway to fantastic family-friendly spots like the Cup Noodles Museum, Anpanman Children's Museum, or even the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery nearby for car enthusiasts. It's bustling, but efficient for getting around with little ones!
The F — Google review
Huge station with underground malls, shops, all sorts of passageways, etc, that could be confusing for first-time visitors. Good for shopping on a rainy day, though. Or for souvenir hunting.
Scribbling G — Google review
The journey ends where the sea begins. Glass towers mirror the harbor’s blue; ships, lovers, and trains share the same horizon. The Keihin–Tōhoku Line rests here, its rhythm fulfilled. It has carried the city’s heartbeat — from Saitama’s calm to Yokohama’s endless light. Tourist Tip: Major hub connecting Tokyo with the bay area. Visit Minato Mirai, Chinatown, and Yamashita Park. Ideal for sunsets by the sea or night walks under ferris wheel lights.
Stray L — Google review
It's a bit tough to navigate if you are here for the first time and want to kill some time or grab something to eat in the nearby malls. It just lacks proper signage which is essential in places that don't allow for GPS navigation using maps. If you are just transferring between trains finding the right platform is a breeze. The only signage that could use some more prominent display are the Narita Airport NE'X train ones. Once you find the right entrance route is easy to follow. Just head to platform 10 and wait for a huge train to arrive. NE'X trains really stand out and it's impossible to miss one when you see it!
Sebastian Z — Google review
Nice station, big and spacious, however it can get over crowded depending the hrs . Its similar to shibuya station with plenty of shops and chain cafe , restaurents ( though these arent the best taste wise , you can eat way better right out the station ) . Its huge easy to get lost and can be quite hard for unseason tourists . The tiny elevators are always full of people .
Emma P — Google review
It was my first time visiting Yokohama Station, and I was amazed at how huge it is! The size and number of shops inside were overwhelming—in a good way. You could easily spend hours here exploring.

Yokohama Cosmo World is a fun and vibrant amusement park located right in the heart of the Minato Mirai area. The park is best known for its giant Ferris wheel, the Cosmo Clock 21, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Yokohama skyline, especially at night when everything is beautifully lit up. It’s a great photo spot and a must-try ride if you visit. The park is divided into zones for different age groups, making it perfect for both families and young adults. There are classic carnival-style attractions like haunted houses, water rides, and roller coasters. I personally went on the pink roller coaster, and it was super fun! It cost 900 yen, and honestly, it was totally worth it. The drops and turns were exciting but not too scary—just the right balance for a thrill without feeling overwhelmed. It also gives a cool view of the park during the ride.
UGA C — Google review
Cosmo World in Yokohama is a delightful surprise tucked right into the heart of the city’s waterfront. It’s a compact but vibrant amusement park that offers something for everyone—from thrilling roller coasters to charming coin-operated rides for the little ones. We stopped by on our way to a nearby wedding venue, and I’m so glad we did! My older kids had a blast on the big rides, especially the roller coasters, which were way more exciting than I expected for a city park. My youngest was enchanted by the tiny kiddie rides and arcade-style machines scattered throughout the grounds. It’s the kind of place where every age group finds their own joy. One of the park’s most iconic features is the massive Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel, which lights up beautifully at night and doubles as a working clock. I didn’t get a chance to ride it this time, but it’s definitely on my list for next visit. There’s also a water ride that was surprisingly dry—perfect if you want the fun without the splash. The location couldn’t be better: right by the water, close to the Yokohama World Porters mall, and surrounded by scenic views. At night, the whole area glows with colorful lights and reflections off the bay, making it a magical spot for an evening stroll. The park opens late—until around 11 PM—which makes it easy to squeeze in a visit even after a busy day. Cosmo World isn’t huge, but it’s packed with charm and energy. Whether you’re traveling with kids or just want a fun detour in Yokohama, it’s absolutely worth a stop.

Very disappointed. Only giving 1 star because you can’t review without it. It was extremely upsetting and shocking to be told blind people can’t go on the rides, even with a person accompanying. We have been on rides all over the world, including other parks here in Japan, with no issue. No reason was given., we were just told no. Japan is a country that welcomes and encourages people with disabilities and usually provides access at every opportunity. There are tactile and Braille everywhere, with wheelchair access freely available to almost every building. It completely baffles us why this amusement park has decided people with a vision impairment are not welcome.

Always open for business. Good price for the rides. Safe and secure and fun.

Vibrant amusement park perfect for families. Several great rides including the iconic Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel. Fun games, and carnival food. The waterfront location adds to its charm, providing beautiful views, especially at night. Easy to reach from Tokyo.

Fun place to come for people of all ages. Nice mix of rides for little children, teenagers, and adults. It was a chilly evening, so not many people were getting on the water rides, but they were still opening. There's also amusement games, shops, and a few places to eat. For the rides, you purchase the tickets at the central ticketing station. There was a long line for the Ferris Wheel, but only lasted about 30-45 minutes. It provided a nice view over Yokohama.

The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is a unique destination that offers a nostalgic experience of old Japan and the world of ramen. It features a traditional street food court with shops offering samples of ramen dishes from different regions, allowing visitors to taste and learn about the history of this beloved dish. The museum also has a theatre where performances about the history of ramen noodles are showcased.
I first visited in April on my own and promised myself I’d bring the kids here during our family trip to Japan. The kids finally got to visit this August, but we came during Japan’s holiday season, unfortunately, it was extremely crowded, with long lines in a small space. It was hard to enjoy everything, and we couldn’t try other spots because of the wait times. Still, the staff managed the crowd quite well. A nice bonus is that you can buy instant ramen packs to take home and recreate your own ramen bowl.
Bonnie C — Google review
TLDR: good for tasting different ramen bowls downstairs in small sizes but wish the museum had a bit more substance We definitely enjoyed a few bowls of ramen downstairs. I enjoyed the cappuccino tonkotsu ramen at stall 8 and the shoyu/tonkotsu at stall 4. I also liked that they let you get a small size for 680 yen instead of a full size so you can try multiple. However I wish the museum had a bit more substance. The gift shop is bigger than the actual museum itself. Overall a good experience still
Wilson T — Google review
For an experience this is a good place, but not exactly a museum. Entrance fee for an adult is 450yen. Inside, if you pay another 5000 with a reservation you can make ramen noodle on your own.( making the dough i guess) the 1F has a few walls with history of ramen and evolution of ramen in Japan. Also there’s a souvenir shop. In B1 and B2 there are retro type ramen shop which gives the vibe of old japan ramen alleys. Here you may choose a ramen shop to dine and you have to line up between 30~1hour depending on the popularity of the shop. And agin after paying you can enjoy your ramen. So the entrance fee is kind of exaggerated because it is not exactly a “museum”. As an overall it was a nice experience and ramen was good.

This is a must visit when you're in Yokohama. Ramen is a Japan special and the history and tradition are displayed here. Bonus is that there is a ramen food court at the basement floors recreating the magic and decor of ancient times. We chose to go to Rairaiken, the historic first ramen restaurant of Tokyo opening in 1920. It subsequently closed in 1976. Fortunately Rairaiken started again in 2020 at this museum carefully reproducing the old recipe and magic. This was our first introduction to Ramen in Japan. And we chose a small bowl with Char Siu. I must say we were sweeped off our feet. The soy broth was light and so flavorful, noodles are soft and the Char Siu firm and succulent. I was craving for another bowl! Now I know why Ramen is legendary in Japan. Not to mention the ultimate cleanliness and meticulous attention to everything!
Amit C — Google review
The history of ramen in Japan was interesting but the highlight was the ramen food mall in the basement. With the help of a young Japanese woman we queued up for about half an hour to order at our chosen restaurant. The wait was definitely worth it. One of the best konkatsu ramens I’ve ever eaten. Midweek would probably have been five stars.
David P — Google review
Lovely Museum with very tasty ramen and a lot of Info on the history of ramen. A little unfortunate that you can't just order one ramen for the whole group and sit down in the restaurants. Everybody in the group needs to order at least one ramen bowl which can get expensive quick. Other than that I liked it here very much! Will come again to taste the rest!
Dominik A — Google review
Beautiful underground food court with many delicious options. Definitely worth the wait for the longer lines also highly recommend the dipping noodle restaurant on B1 floor. I recommend going with the small size bowls if you plan on hitting multiple stations as well as not finishing the broth.

Initially we were going to the cup noodles Museum in Yokohama but, after reading about and visiting this one, I think we made the best choice. The ambience is great, you can choose between many reagional ramen and make your own dry ramen to take home with any picture. You choose. Not packed (we went at the beginning of august), well worth it.

Beer hall
Thrash Zone is a renowned brewpub in Yokohama, Japan, established by Katsuki-san in 2006. Initially a small craft beer bar, it later evolved into a popular brewpub in 2011. The establishment is known for its metal-themed decor and heavy metal music ambiance, attracting beer enthusiasts to savor its selection of hoppy, bitter, and robust beers.
Koichi has a real passion for heavy metal and Beer! He boasts a diverse selection of locally brewed Beers which is only outshone by his impressive collection of LPs that provide the soundtrack. A short walk from Yokohama station, Thrash Zone is a must for for metal fans visiting Yokohama and Tokyo!
Max Q — Google review
Best beer I've had in Japan yet, and I'm a beer snob! I like the theme, metal thrasher bar. Love all of the signatures on the wall from some of my favorite American breweries! However, when we walked in on a Tuesday night, there were about 5 patrons at the bar, and other than the Slayer playing, was quiet as a library. Everyone was just looking at their phones. There wasn't even any interaction with the bar tender, you order on a screen. I tried to interact with him in my limited Japanese, no luck. They do not sell bottles to go, and do not sell glasses. But the beer was so good I would still go back. I think it was around 700¥ for a small pour, and 900¥ for a pint, great price compared to other craft beer bars.
Shea N — Google review
It’s quite unique atmosphere craft beer house located in walking distance from Yokohama station. A bit quit and peace place since it would not many people and each seem enjoy themselves with their beer. The beers crafted here are nice. No food for sale here just self serving free snack. Many info about Japanese craft share in here.
Nkr B — Google review
As a massive fan of craft beer, ThrashZone is an incredible bar/microbrewery with super unique brews. No bottles, everything is on tap. HOP DECIDE and MORBID RED are must tries, but you really can’t go wrong with any of their brews. Due to Covid-19 they have stricter rules (which some other reviewers fail to understand) because they are a very small bar and could be shut down if they don’t obey strict safety rules. Limited customers allowed in the bar for now, but it is well worth the wait. EXTREME BEER FOR EXTREME PEOPLE! :)

Excellent pub. The owner Ko-San is a really good dude and likes some great music. He's also open to requests and talking about it. Cool old school rock decor inside.
John I — Google review
Reference Price - A pint of beer: 700-1100 Yen tax included. Cash only. Drink - Extreme beer only 🤘 Food - They do not serve any food except nuts. Music - Mostly 90s metal🤘 Space/Atmosphere - Marshall amps, bare concrete wall, wooden counter, and bright lights like a cafe-style ambience. The staff is ok, not very talkative but simply polite and efficient. Otherwise, if you are heavy metal savvy, he may open up a little more to you. My favorite beer here so far is Speed Kills I.P.A, a simply delicious local beer. Front Side Grind is also great as the second pint for me. I rated this pub 4/5 because I want the same "extreme meatballs" as the Kannai branch's🤘 Highly recommend Thrash Zone for craft beer lovers.
Taka Y — Google review
The place to be in Yokohama if you like craft beer and metal and punk music. Good selection of craft beers, but beware, the beers served here are extreme with very high alcohol percentage, like 10% or more. This concept is so good and works well with the music blasting out from the speakers (German Thrash metal like Kreator was what we git to enjoy). Maybe not the fanciest of places and it is quite small (an izakaya), but if you’re into metal or punk, then this will not be a bother. Cheers!
Tommy K — Google review
Amazing beer. 15 beers on tap but usually out of stock (and quickly replaced) quickly due to the grear thirst of the very polite patrons. Always a few guest beers on stock. Amazing price for U.K. Pint size craft beer. Most are 800 yen.

Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, established in 1993, is a well-known amusement park in Yokohama. It offers a wide range of attractions including an aquarium with sealife shows, various amusement rides, a marina, and a hotel.
Yokohama Sea Paradise is perfect for families! The variety of attractions, from the aquarium to the amusement park, offers something for everyone. My kids had a fantastic time exploring the exhibits and enjoying the rides. The staff is friendly, and the facilities are well maintained. Highly recommend for a fun family day out!

One of the best aspects of this place is that you can enjoy the scenic surroundings and general atmosphere without needing to purchase an entry ticket. This makes it a great spot for casual visitors or those just looking to relax outdoors. If you're interested in experiencing the rides and attractions, tickets can be purchased individually at the attraction counters. However, be aware that the individual ride tickets are quite expensive. For those planning to enjoy multiple attractions, I highly recommend opting for a one-day pass, which offers better value and convenience. Note: Parking is available but not free, so be sure to factor that into your visit budget.

Some of the systems and processes they have here are like from Tokyo Disneyland but of course the place is a level down from it but still enjoyable nonetheless. We bought the one day pass so we were able to enjoy most rides, access to animal interactions, and aquariums + shows. If not, they allow scanning of QR code to pay on web or their app (it's cashless which is usually rare for local carnivals and theme parks). Very seamless and fast. The food choices are not super great (pretty much like Disneyland), but I did enjoy the eat all you can seafood BBQ here. We'd definitely come back.

Absolutely marvellous experience. Fun for all ages. Really diverse set of animals they have. 2 kinds of penguins, walruses, seals, great white sharks, belugas, turtles, polar bears, manta rays to name a few… And do not miss the dolphin and beluga show at any cost. Thank me later.

June 2025 One full day trip from Tokyo- Shinsugita station-monorail seaside line to Hakkeijima station and walk 15 min to entrance. Great place for families and young children although it is pretty far from Tokyo. Very impressed with the mammals performance. There are also feeding sessions to purchase. A lot of restaurants and cafes and also souvenir shops. There are also amusement rides for children to entertain. There are Bottle nose dolphins, Husky dolphins, Beluga, sharks, seals and assorted fishes, red panda, capybaras, prairie dogs, otters and etc. There is also a hotel within the park.

Great dolphins show, with variety of animals you hardly getting bored watching it. This time the show mix with music show from sanrio, they also had special event collecting stamp and get sticker pass. Oh yah for someone like us (using public transportation and walk) you should search aqua museum not hakkeijima, it more accurate and save your feet

Visited the aquarium on a rainy Saturday for the Hapidanbui event! Despite the weather, we had a lot of fun. We were able to feed otters and capybara and watch the aquatic animal show. There was also a stamp rally and themed food for the event. Unfortunately, we were unable to see the character we came to see, as there were no clear instructions on how to get a ticket to that event. We were initially told by staff that our tickets would get us access, but that was not true and when we arrived at the meeting area we were told tickets were no longer available.

The Sky Garden, perched atop the iconic Yokohama Landmark Tower, offers an unforgettable experience with its breathtaking panoramic views of the city and beyond. Visitors can ascend to this stunning observation deck in Japan's fastest elevator, reaching speeds of 45 km/h and arriving in just 40 seconds. From here, you can gaze out over the vibrant cityscape that includes landmarks like the Cosmo World Ferris wheel and even catch a glimpse of majestic Mt. Fuji on clear days.
The day view and night view of Yokohama is so pretty! Exceeded my expectation. Even prettier than skytree in Tokyo. We saw the sunset and a bit of Fuji mountain (part of it was in the clouds). Not too crowded, a lot of seats for people to sit and rest. They were having a Doraemon exhibit and it was fun to collect the stamps. The shop sells nice souvenirs and postcards, and even sells stamps. It was very well designed overall.

Yokohama Motomachi Shopping Street is a historic and vibrant district that has been around since 1859. It's a bustling area with stylish boutiques, cafes, and unique fashion retail stores spread along its 600-meter strip. The street is known for its festive atmosphere and hosts various seasonal events like Christmas/Winter illuminations and St. Patrick's Day parades.
🛍️ A short stroll from Yokohama Chinatown brought us to Yokohama Motomachi Shopping Street, and it was like stepping into a completely different world. Known for its charming boutiques, stylish stores, and cozy cafes, this shopping street offers a refreshing contrast to the vibrant hustle and bustle of Chinatown nearby. It’s a delightful mix of modern elegance and old-world charm, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely family outing. The street is lined with unique shops offering everything from fashion and accessories to local crafts and specialty foods. Our children enjoyed peeking into the stores, especially those with quirky souvenirs and handmade items. There’s a great selection of cafes and restaurants as well, perfect for taking a break and enjoying some coffee or a light snack while soaking in the relaxed atmosphere. What stood out most was the street’s clean and beautifully maintained aesthetic, with its European-inspired design and peaceful vibe. It’s pedestrian-friendly, making it easy to explore with kids in tow. We spent a few hours wandering around, picking up a few gifts and enjoying the slower pace compared to the more touristy spots. Yokohama Motomachi Shopping Street is a must-visit if you’re in the area. Whether you’re looking to shop, grab a bite, or simply enjoy a pleasant walk, it offers something for everyone. It’s a wonderful way to experience a different side of Yokohama, blending sophistication with a touch of local charm. Highly recommended for families and anyone who loves a unique shopping experience!

Yokohama Motomachi Shopping Street Review on 15/4/2025 It was a cool, crisp evening — about half past six — with the sun sinking into the horizon and the temperature gently dropping. Leaving the comfort of our hotel, we embarked on a nostalgic journey toward Motomachi Shopping Streets, a place steeped in cherished memories for one of our traveling companions. The city felt serene, almost ethereal, as we walked along the sparsely trafficked main road. Fairy lights twinkled softly on the shrubs, illuminating sections of the pavement and casting a magical glow. We passed the dark, mysterious street that led to Yokohama Chinatown, a tantalising glimpse into another world waiting to be explored. After about 25 minutes of walking, we arrived at our destination — the enchanting Motomachi Shopping Streets. Greeting us was a striking metal arch crowned with a phoenix-shaped sculpture, its gleaming figure symbolising renewal and prosperity. It stood as a beacon of promise, inviting us into a realm of discovery and elegance. The streets themselves were like stepping into a storybook — no enclosed mall here, but open-air cobblestone pavements lined with charming boutique shops, cozy cafés, and tempting restaurants. The decorative streetlights cast warm halos over the pavement, blending Western sophistication with Japanese artistry to create a cosmopolitan haven. The sky had turned into a blanket of midnight blue, and most of the shops had already closed for the day. Still, the architecture lining the streets captivated us — majestic buildings with distinctive non-Japanese styles, each telling a tale of Yokohama’s vibrant history. Our true quest came to light as we learned our companion’s purpose: to track down the elusive musical clock she had encountered 38 years ago. It was a bittersweet hunt, weaving past storefronts until we found ourselves at a corner 3-storey building specialising in jewelry, watches, and clocks. This store displayed a modest clock design with dotted lights on its external wall — simple yet striking, though far from the grandeur she remembered. Then came the moment we had anticipated — the clock began its performance. Its melody broke through the hushed streets, enchanting the air and transforming the ambiance into something magical. It was a long-awaited delight, an echo of the past that seemed to bridge decades in a fleeting instant. With hearts full and spirits lifted by the melodic chimes, we turned toward the street leading to Yokohama Chinatown, ready to indulge in a dinner that would cap off an unforgettable evening. The journey was more than a stroll; it was a tapestry of memory, discovery, and quiet beauty.

There is a great shop for Japanese Woodblock prints (M. Iishii and Sons) along with a large selection of traditional Japanese ceramics and wooden kitchen items. The shop owners are welcoming and very knowledgeable about the process of woodblock printing. Iishii-San had a small book that he shared to teach us about the traditional process of woodblock printing. Beautiful selection of woodblock prints and having one as a memory of Japan is a treasure. Check it out.

It’s a long walking distance from the World Porters but just beside the Chinatown to go here but the vibe here is different than other shopping street. I can feel the calmness of this shopping street compared to others that is famous among tourists. It’s good if you just want to stroll around it but there is not many things.

It is not crowded but it is filled with the right amount of people which makes it easy to move whilst feeling the buzz from the people around you too. It is such an amazing district and shopping street. It is filled with luxury local finds and some cheaper local goods. It is a blend of almost everything you want to see, enjoy and relax in. Its location is great because it is near to other great sites that are also worth visiting. They have good chocolatiers as well. I highly recommend visiting this shopping district. Also, if you enjoy shopping high-quality and fabrics, make sure to save space in your suitcase.

Yokohama Marine Tower, a prominent waterfront landmark and lighthouse constructed in 1961, features an observation deck offering stunning views of the harbor. Standing at a height of 106 meters (348 feet), this lattice tower was temporarily closed in 2006 but underwent restoration, reopening to the public on Yokohama's 150th anniversary in 2009.
Really neat place to visit. Great views of the city from up top and pretty cheap. 1,000 yen was worth the time.

The Yokohama Marine Tower truly transforms at night! Seeing it lit up against the dark sky is a sight to behold, with its intricate structure glowing beautifully. From the observation deck, the city lights of Yokohama sparkle endlessly, creating a mesmerizing tapestry across the bay. The entire Minato Mirai area looks especially vibrant after dusk. It offers a romantic and captivating perspective of the city, different from the daytime views. A visit at night is highly recommended for a truly memorable experience.
The F — Google review
We visited on a warm Saturday afternoon in summer. The place wasn’t crowded, which was a definite plus if you're looking for a more relaxed outing. The observation decks offer clear views of the ocean, Yokohama Harbor, Yamashita Park, and the NYK Hikawamaru liner—it truly is a beautiful sight. There's basic guidance available for tourists, including signage and English-speaking staff . That said, the tower itself isn’t very tall or expansive. If you've already experienced the nearby Landmark Tower—with its much higher viewpoint—this might feel a bit underwhelming. The extra cost here is harder to justify in that context . In summary: A peaceful, accessible spot with lovely coastal views—but if you’re chasing that “wow” factor from great heights, you might find it a little modest compared to bigger towers.

Yokohama Bay Quarter is a stylish shopping complex offering a wide variety of shops and restaurants, making it a great place for shopping and dining. The tavern takes pride in its wide selection of top-quality beers, both on tap and bottled, including well-known international brands as well as local craft ales.
We went when it was very quiet but had a great time. Living in Japan I often find I'm missing things from back home, so to get some delicious Sausage Rolls & some cider was amazing. I'm not in Yokohama often but I'll definitely visit again!

I didn't have any of the food, but it looked good on the table about 15 feet away. I gave 4 stars because I read a review that said you could smoke there, but it was non-smoking. My friend and I had cigars we wanted to smoke. The selection of beers and whiskeys is good. The atmosphere was also good, very standard for British and Irish pubs.

As you go downstairs, you can feel the atomosphere of British Pub. A bit expensive, not pretty honestly. Everything isn't affordable, compare to neighbors.

A Yokohama must visit pub and a long term habitat of people from a well known North East of England car manufacturer since the mid 80’s. John is always friendly and cracking mad jokes and at the time Anne and Arthur were also great hosts. Blink and you could miss it but always remember it is next to McDonalds. Loads of great nights here especially watching Sunderland get promoted back to the Premiership. Well done John and the food is great 👍👍

Been here a few times now and I love the food here. I really enjoyed the Roast Dinner, the Steak & Guinness Pie and the Rhubarb Crumble.
Mayumi — Google review
A real taste of home, the landlord is a lovely guy and the local staff are very friendly too, varied beer selection ranging from the uk to Japanese beers and a good English pub grub menu including a proper English Sunday roast dinner. Missing a good slice of home whilst exploring this amazing country… then I would highly recommended paying this place a visit!

Yokohama Hammerhead is a contemporary seaside mall located near the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM YOKOHAMA. Opened in 2019, it's a cruise ship terminal complex with a luxurious hotel and shopping mall. The facility boasts 25 restaurants offering various cuisines, from local ramen shops to a brewpub with a terrace providing stunning harbor views. Visitors can also enjoy cafes serving Yokohama's unique sweets and special green tea.
I think this is the boarding terminal for some of the cruise lines available here in Yokohama. The terminal has a bunch of shops and food court attached. Many nice picture opportunities!!

The Hammerhead is by the Yokohama harbour. Originally , the Hammerhead is the big crane which was installation at the Shinko Pier in 1914. It has become a landmark at Yokohama.....Now , the "Hammerhead " has been developed into a new area, with a park, a pier & cruise terminal , a shopping mall with shops & restaurants and a hotel . I took the sightseeing tour bus and walked around. A nice place that you can enjoy good food and the sea view . You can also buy bus and boats tickets here in the shopping mall .

There are definitely many people on the weekend. There wasnt seats at the cafe so just looked around and left early. Most of all things in this mall are a bit pricy, but they have some own specialties such as harbor views and products.
Jeon S — Google review
I love this place especially around sunset. There’s a couple of nice restaurants with terrace seats so if you are dressed warm enough (it is windy because it’s right by the sea although they have heaters set up, you need layers in winter), highly recommended for dates and nice dinner with friends/coworkers. I’ve seen it’s a popular place for weddings (or after parties).
Y — Google review
As its location with nice views, this shopping mall is a bit crowded especially in weekends, and there are less bathrooms for the number of people that makes queues at each of these. 5 minutes or more to get it done! I don’t think it’s pricey at each shops, actually less expensive than the restaurants in Yokohama red brick warehouse. Hope they consider to have more bathrooms in this mall.

It has expanded with branches in Shinagawa and Yokohama, in partnership with Queens Isetan Food Court. The bar serves as a haven for craft beer enthusiasts seeking quality American brews without breaking the bank. Whether you're a fan of hoppy beers or simply looking to enjoy luxury American beer from miles away, Antenna America is the place to be.
This place is awesome! Fridges full of beer. 500-800 yen each! Holy smokes that's a good price. Chicken wings are super meaty and that is probably the best blue cheese sauce in Japan. Hot dog is a solid 8.2 out of 10 with a decent snap. A little hard to find ..but just trust your map..x marks the spot. Could be a little more comfy..but it's a trade off for the great prices on world class beer!!
Steve D — Google review
Great place for craft beer. The owner is into selecting the best craft beers available, and it shows in his in-store stock. So many choices. The pub food is good too, worth the wings and chips with chili the clear standouts. Make some time and check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.
Justin S — Google review
Difficult to find but if you know this place, you’ll back and get beer. Good choice of American IPA and craft beer. You can purchase bottles or can drink at the store. Snacks available.
Toshihiro M — Google review
If you're a fan of craft beer like I am, this is a must visit when you're in Yokohama. Good American micro brew is very hard to find in Japan, but they've got a vast selection. They had 8 draft choices when I went, plus at least 150ish other choices in cans/bottles in their coolers. You can purchase the packaged beer and drink in store, so it's a great way to get a bunch of stuff and enjoy yourself. I'd rate the food about a 4-4.5 out of 5. I got smoked wings, which were awesome. My wife had a burger that was very good but a little pricey. The waffle fries were delicious and fresh. I will absolutely visit again and this is the type of place that I've been looking for here in Japan. It's a bit pricey because it's all import micro brew beer, but it's worth it if that is what you are in to.
John E — Google review
If you are an IPA lover, you must visit there A lot of cans and bottles of imported beer especially IPA can be seen at the American antenna. They also serve a lot of beer on tap. You must try. I'm very happy that they were reopened.

If you are in need of a good American craft beer, this is the destination!! Great beers, friendly staff, and the best wings in Tokyo/Yokohama!!

A decent niche balcony bar with a good selection of import beer. The food is your typical bar food. The view from the roof is mostly the parking lot next door. If you love American craft beer, this is probably the best spot in town. If you just want to visit a bar, there are many better options.

YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN Sakuragicho Station is a modern ropeway that offers stunning views of city landmarks and nightscapes while connecting Sakuragicho to Shinko. This new attraction in Yokohama provides transportation between JR Sakuragicho Station and Unga Park in the Minato Mirai 21 area, offering a unique way to experience the seaside tourist destination.
The Yokohama Air Cabin is one of the most convenient and scenic ways to see the city! The short ride offers stunning views of the harbor, Cosmo Clock Ferris Wheel, and Minato Mirai skyline. It’s also super practical since you can skip the long walk between Sakuragicho Station and the waterfront area in just a few minutes while enjoying the view. The cabins are clean, quiet, and air-conditioned, making it comfortable but the music in the air cabin can be a little bit annoying.
Ivo V — Google review
Went here last year and I must say the Yokohama Air Cabin offers a unique and enjoyable experience with fantastic views of the Minato Mirai area. The ride is smooth and provides a great perspective of the cityscape, especially at night when the lights are beautiful. It's a quick and comfortable way to travel between Sakuragicho and the Shinko district. While it might seem a bit pricey for the short ride, the views definitely make it worthwhile for tourists and even locals looking for a different vantage point of Yokohama. The cabins are clean and spacious enough for a small group. Overall, a pleasant and memorable addition to the Yokohama experience.
Ry P — Google review
You look up, you see these futuristic gondolas sliding over the harbor like some Bond villain’s commute. Slick, Instagrammable, efficient...Japan at its best. Then you look at the price: ¥1,000 one-way. For five minutes. That’s $9 for a commute you could replace with a 10-minute stroll across a bridge that’s free and arguably healthier for your cardiovascular system. This is the problem with pricing in tourist traps: when the price crosses the line from “experience” to “extraction.” A train in Tokyo? A few bucks. The Yurikamome ride across Rainbow Bridge? Four bucks and you actually go somewhere. The Air Cabin? You go 600 meters, and the only thing lighter than the gondola is your wallet. We skipped it...like the locals do. Why? Because paying $9 for what amounts to the “Uber Black” version of a 10-minute walk feels absurd. If they pegged it to the price of a train ticket, fine. But at this rate, it’s the LVMH of public transport—luxury branding slapped on something utilitarian. The weather was perfect, the walk was free, and the view? Identical. The Air Cabin is less a ride and more a tax on FOMO. Verdict: Pretty from a distance. Better for your legs, lungs, and wallet if you skip it.
Jim R — Google review
My ride on the Yokohama Air Cabin was fun. I purchased the ¥2,500 round trip ticket with ferris wheel. The gondola ride lasted about five minutes. The views were awesome. Since this was the last leg of my Japan trip, my feet were starting to hurt. I'm glad I didn't have to walk anymore. 10 out of 10, I would do this again. Next time, I'll come at night. The views will be better at night.
Jeff H — Google review
The Yokohama Air Cabin was a really enjoyable experience and offered a wonderful view of the city and the bay area. Even though I visited during Golden Week, which is usually one of the busiest holiday periods in Japan, the queues were surprisingly short and well managed. It didn’t take long before I was able to board, which made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. I recommend purchasing the package ticket that includes both the Air Cabin and the Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris Wheel. This way you can enjoy two different perspectives of Yokohama’s Minato Mirai area—one from above the bay and another from high up overlooking the skyline. It really makes the visit more complete. The facilities and equipment are modern, clean, and well maintained, giving a sense of safety and comfort throughout the ride. The staff were also very kind and attentive. Since I don’t speak Japanese fluently, I appreciated that they were patient and helped me in English, which made the process a lot easier. If there’s one thing to mention, it would be the ride duration. The gondola moves at a steady pace, but because the route is relatively short, the whole experience doesn’t last very long compared to the ticket price. I understand they cannot really make it slower or extend the track, but it did feel a little quick for how much you pay. Still, if you’re in Yokohama, I would recommend trying it at least once. It’s a unique way to cross between Sakuragicho Station and the waterfront area, and the view—especially around sunset—is absolutely worth it.

A short but super fun ride in Yokohama! I think this is the best starting point and first activity in the city because the other end station is Unga Park where most Yokohama attractions are: Cup Noodles Museum, Yokohama Clock, Chinatown, etc. I got the cabin all by myself. The line is super short, typical as people wait for their cabins, even though it was a weekend when I came here. You also don’t need to buy ticket in advance, you can purchase it on site and they actually offer you a package ticket for the air cabin and the Yokohama Clock. Easily a good activity to try if you are in the city!
Selle A — Google review
Excellent views and they have a lot of help for us English speakers. I appreciate that! We got the combo one way tickets with the ferris wheel for ¥1700. Pretty good deal. We got there early on a Sunday (10:25am) to beat the crowds but still took about 30 mins to board. It’s only a 5 minute ride but it’s nice to see Yokohama from the air. Just note you cannot eat or drink on the ride. No need to but tickets in advance.
Jason R — Google review
The Yokohama air cabin is a very unique experience. I think one of the only city I know that has this type of city air cabins in the world. ( Macao and Chong Qing). It rides is very smooth and it gets you from the train station right to a cool looking shopping mall right in front of the iconic red brick Yokohama warehouse. I think it’s a must visit if you are not afraid of highs. The one way tickets price is 1000 yen and round trip is 1800 yen.

Food was delicious, just a bit pricey for the portion….even in Japan. I did the pasta course, my wife did the chef’s special, and our daughter went with the cheese burger. Recommend to request the sauce on the side for the burger, as it has a unique flavor kinda like A1, which some kinds may not like. The specialty drinks are wonderful as well, but 990yen and non-alcoholic. All is all, a great place to visit. They also do live entertainment.

We had food out doors. It looks great. Cushioned seats, nice view and great looking menu. The service was poor. We had to shout from the top of our voice to get his attention. We had the burger. The meat was bland and tasteless. The waffle chips were good. The bacon I'm the Caesar salad was tasteless. Go for the Jazz, but not the food. Not worth the expense.

Unfriendly staff. I told them when I went to renew my commuter pass that the card wasn't working. Even though it was working as a regular suica pas I could not renew my pass. After the finally accept this, they told me I had to make a new card which I did. I then asked if I could return my old speaker and get the 500 yen deposit back and they told me I had to go to a large station such as Yokohama or shinjuk.... I asked them why this is necessary as it would cost me nearly the 500 yen to go to the stations just to get the deposit back. Completely unhelpful completely unsatisfactory service.

Between skyscrapers and stadium cheers, the Shinkansen glides in silence. Families on day trips, fans bound for concerts, all share this pause before the sea. Outside, ramen steam curls into sky — a scent of nostalgia and play. Tourist Tip: Gateway to Yokohama and Kanagawa attractions. Transfer to Yokohama City Subway Blue Line. Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru, located in Yokohama's Minato Mirai area, is a unique museum ship that offers visitors the chance to explore the captain's office, crew cabins, and more. The ship was formerly a training vessel for naval cadets and now serves as a museum showcasing its rich history.
What a great experience!!! It was VERY Cool to see ins and outs of this beautiful ship. To learn of it's history and see how the way of life on board was at the time was enlightening. The staff were exceptional! I took the tour of the museum as well and I recommend you do too. I bought several shirts, magnets, and post cards for souvenirs.

Joey T — Google review
Who knew one of my top marine experiences would involve a ship that’s been docked since 1984? For the price of a convenience store onigiri and an iced coffee, I got to board this absolute unit of a ship, wander its spotless decks, and pretend I was a 1930s cadet about to chart the Pacific while actually just looking for the next vending machine. Here’s why it’s great: ✅ Cheap admission: Your wallet will thank you while you hum sea shanties under your breath. ✅ Historical vibes: Built in 1930, it trained 11,500 sailors and circled Earth’s circumference 45 times. Meanwhile, I get winded walking up one flight of stairs. ✅ Immersive exhibits: The navigation room, sleeping quarters, and deck views all scream “romantic maritime nostalgia” and “thank goodness I live in the era of electric kettles.” Sure, it’s technically a museum ship – but if you squint hard enough, it becomes a cruise without the crowds, buffet lines, or norovirus outbreaks. Plus, you’re not trapped at sea with other tourists. Freedom, baby. Pro tip: Visit near sunset when the golden glow hits the ship and skyscrapers behind it. Great for photos, romance, and contemplating whether you’d survive on the open ocean (answer: no).

The Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru (帆船日本丸) is a beautifully preserved maritime museum in Yokohama. The ship's impressive rigging and detailed craftsmanship are a testament to Japan's rich maritime history. The knowledgeable staff and volunteers provide fascinating insights into the life of a sailor, making it an educational experience for all ages. The ship is well-maintained, and the surrounding area offers stunning views of the harbor. A must-visit for history buffs and anyone interested in naval architecture. Highly recommended!

Demi O — Google review
Much better than I expected to be honest. I was tempted to walk straight past after taking a picture from outside as I thought it would be a boring visit, it was actually really interesting!! Only 400 yen per person is also a great deal for what could be a 45 minute or more trip, depending how closely you look around. Gives some nice insights into the history and role of the ship, its construction materials, what life at sea might be like, the various living quarters and jobs of the crew and officers. Not all areas are accessible but there is still plenty to see for a snapshot in time.

“Enjoyed a peaceful night stroll in Yokohama, taking in the stunning view of the Nippon Maru, also known as the ‘Lady of the Sea.’ This beautiful sailing ship has an incredible history—she sailed the equivalent of 45.4 times around the world and trained over 11,000 crew members! Now preserved in Minato Mirai, it’s a must-see for anyone interested in maritime history. The station that connects the Blue Liner, JR Negishi, and the JR Keihin-Tohoku lines. Pretty cool actually if you're returning to Tokyo from the Kamakura area. Except... the subway and JR stations are actually about 300-400m apart so it's not that close. The subway station is selling the Tetsudo Musume, Takashima Azami limited edition tickets until January 2019. The problem with this station is that the restrooms in the subway stations are for both men and ladies. An obasan angrily snapped at me for trying to get past her because I thought she was in front of the ladies’ room.

The people there have a strong local feel, and it feels like you're away. The music was good, so I enjoyed myself with a soft drink, thinking about whether I should go home or not. When I told the person like Keiji Muto who got involved that I wasn't drinking because I had a car. I was offered some water, so I took a couple sips, but the water had been mixed with some strong alcohol, and I felt intoxicated and sick. I regretted touching her and vowed never to go there again. It's a crime and girls should be really careful. Sankeien Garden, a traditional Japanese garden that opened its doors in 1906, is a serene escape into nature and history. Nestled in Yokohama, this enchanting space features two distinct gardens: the Outer Garden, which welcomes visitors with seasonal blooms and stunning views of a three-story pagoda originally from Kyoto's Tomyo-ji Temple, and the Inner Garden, an intimate area showcasing historical structures.
Sankeien Garden was a stunning blend of nature and history. Walking through it felt like stepping into a different era. The scenes of traditional Japanese architecture, serene ponds, and beautifully manicured landscapes. Every angle offered a picture-perfect moment. We were lucky to be visiting when cherry blossoms were in full bloom. The garden transformed into a pink-and-white paradise. It's magical. Sankeien Garden was a must-visit. Highly recommend.

A unique experience in Yokohama, away from the crowds. It's just a 30 minute ride by bus from Yokohama station and costs 220 each way. Entrance fee to the grounds is 900 yen, which can seem a bit high, but they don't charge extra for all the buildings and expositions on-site. You can easily spend multiple hours exploring every inch of this place. They have a large collection of flora which blooms at different times of the year. Currently, the lotus flowers are in bloom. The big, bright pink flowers are breathtaking, especially with the pagoda in the back, it's such a unique view. It wasn't busy at all when I was here. It was so peaceful. There are also a few food and tea stalls where you can take a little break. And enough benches throughout the area to take small breaks. Definitely worth visiting.
Ilse E — Google review
Absolutely amazing garden! When initially walking in, you’ll see the biggest Lotus’s you’ve ever seen in your life followed by a huge beautiful pond with large fish, birds and an assortment of turtles. Many buildings were brought to this garden and there is a lot to learn here. It was very hot end of July. I’d recommend a portable fan or umbrella. Price was ¥900/person for adults.

Sankeien (三溪園, or "Three Creeks Garden") is a renowned traditional Japanese-style garden in Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. Spanning 175,000 square meters (about 43 acres), it's celebrated for its serene landscapes, seasonal beauty, and collection of historic buildings relocated from across the country. Designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty, it offers a peaceful escape with ponds, streams, winding paths, and vibrant foliage changes year-round.
Ayaki H — Google review
Sankeien is absolutely breathtaking — a perfect blend of history, nature, and serenity. The garden is beautifully designed with wide ponds, winding paths, and traditional teahouses that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The highlight for me was the three-storied pagoda perched on the hill, a stunning backdrop especially during cherry blossom and autumn seasons. Entrance is 900 for adults…
Chanuthi R — Google review
Sankeien Garden in Yokohama is one of those places that feels like it belongs in a different time peaceful, spacious, and full of quiet stories. The moment you walk in, it’s like the city fades away. You’re surrounded by traditional wooden buildings, koi ponds, stone lanterns, and wide-open walking paths that invite you to slow down. What makes Sankeien special isn’t just the scenery it’s the history woven into it. Many of the buildings here were brought from Kyoto and other parts of Japan, some over 500 years old. The three-storied pagoda perched on the hill is especially striking, like something out of a woodblock print. It feels almost surreal seeing it reflected in the still water below. Every season has its moment here. In spring, cherry blossoms frame the garden in pink; summer brings lush green and lotus flowers; autumn turns the trees a deep, fiery red; and even in winter, the garden has a quiet charm with camellias and snow-dusted rooftops. You’ll find families with kids, elderly couples, and artists with sketchpads all soaking in the calm. There’s also a small teahouse and a museum area that adds to the atmosphere. It's not flashy or crowded like some tourist spots, but that’s the beauty of it. Sankeien feels personal, like a well-kept secret you’ll want to revisit whenever life gets too loud.
Amandeep G — Google review
A Summer Escape to Sankeien Garden.. If you're looking for a peaceful break from the energy of Yokohama, you've to visit Sankeien Garden. I arrived arounf 11.30 qnd completely charmed by this place, especially in the summer (which a bit hot). It's not just a beautiful park; it's a collection of history, with a bunch of traditional buildings—old farmhouses, pagodas, even teahouses. I have walked through the paths felt like a journey back in time, with each new structure telling its own story against the backdrop of vibrant green. The whole garden is designed so beautifully. The main pond is a big part of the experience, with the dense summer foliage creating perfect reflections on the water. I could have spent an hour just sitting there, watching the ducks and enjoying the quiet hum of cicadas. The paths wind around, leading you to hidden spots and incredible views. The lush, verdant trees create a natural shade that makes exploring even on a hot day incredibly pleasant. A little tip: make sure you find your way up to the Choshukaku Pavilion. It’s a bit of a slope, but the view is absolutely worth it. It’s the perfect spot to sit and take a moment to soak it all in. The front staff were all so welcoming and the price is affordable 👍🏻

One of the better gardens I've visited in Japan, albeit pricy. Many animals exist around as well. There's a pagoda and an observatory overlooking Mt.Fuji.

Queen's Square Yokohama is a vast shopping, dining, and entertainment complex spread across three towers in the Minato Mirai 21 district. It is part of a popular area that includes attractions like the Yokohama Museum of Art, Cosmo World, and the Cup Noodle Museum. The complex houses hundreds of stores covering various categories and features big-name global brands in Tokyu Square. Additionally, it offers convenient access as it is located directly above Minatomirai station.
Yokohama itself is amazing. The mall is quite big with several floors that I even got lost due to the red electrical stairs don't have an exit on every floor and it goes straight to the sublevel floors at the entrance of the trains. The view at night even at day is spectacular, worth the visit just to cruise around and getting to know the neighborhood.

It is characterized by a tower with an Islamic temple-style dome and is called the "Queen's Tower". It is about a 5-minute walk from the Red Brick Warehouse, and you can see it along with the King's Tower (Prefectural Office) if you walk from the Red Brick Warehouse. I have always seen the exterior, but this was my first time going inside. There are exhibits about the old customs office, counterfeit goods, drugs, etc. There are counterfeit and real goods, and you can compare which ones are real, but it is quite difficult, and I was worried that I would buy a fake. I had an amazing time visiting the Trick Art Museum in Yokohama’s Chinatown! The interactive exhibits were full of optical illusions that made for a fun and engaging experience. The Trick Art floor is packed with creative, 3D artwork that plays with perspective, allowing visitors to pose and become part of the art. Grand Mall Park is a sea-themed plaza located near shopping malls, featuring tree-shaded benches and colorful illuminations. The modern buildings surrounding the park give it a unique 'modern Yokohama' vibe. It's known as one of the most popular date spots in Japan, offering the option to rent dresses for commemorative photographs. Visitors can enjoy beautiful illuminations, especially during events like Yokohama Milight.
Small park sandwiched between queen's tower, landmark building, markis mall and arts museum. Best place for kids to play with water (small fountains) - very beautiful to watch. Good place to eat and relax after shopping.
Booban B — Google review
After a few hours of shopping at Landmark Tower (where your credit card gets its cardio) we ducked into here for a reset. And this place delivers. The park is essentially Yokohama saying, “Yes, we built a futuristic skyline, but here’s some oxygen for your brain.” Long stretches of shady tree-lined paths, modern benches shaped like minimalist sculptures & enough space that families, office workers & daydreamers all coexist without stepping on each other’s zen. What makes it work is scale. It’s not trying to be Central Park, it’s more of a green corridor that stitches together the shopping and cultural district. You can grab an ice cream, plop down in the shade & let the kids run without worrying about traffic. Plus, if you’re the type who geeks out on Japanese manhole covers (they’re mini works of art), you’ll spot some beauties here too. This place is the perfect palate cleanser between bouts of consumerism. Family-friendly, photogenic & best of all: free.

Scenic spot
The Meguro River Cherry Blossoms Promenade is a picturesque riverside path adorned with cherry trees, making it a popular spot during the spring bloom season. The river is around 160 meters wide at this point, offering a better experience on foot than from a train window. Visitors can stroll along the wooden plank path and even find glass panes embedded in the floor for viewing the river below. In late March to early April, Tokyo celebrates cherry blossoms with various events and festivals.
April 10th, 2025. There are a number of locations to see the beautiful Cherry Blossoms but the walk along the Meguro River is surely one of the best. So peaceful! You walk in amazement and take SO many pictures because, as you walk, the next tree SOMEHOW looks even more amazing than the last one. You REALLY just get ‘lost in time’ because there’s nothing else in your sight or mind other than what’s directly in front of you.
Geoff L — Google review
A beautiful spot to enjoy cherry blossoms, especially during peak sakura season. The promenade along the Meguro River is lined with hundreds of cherry trees, creating a stunning tunnel of pink flowers. The atmosphere is lively, with many visitors strolling, taking photos, and enjoying seasonal treats from nearby stalls. In the evening, the illuminated blossoms add a magical touch. However, it can get extremely crowded, making it difficult to walk at a relaxed pace. Best visited early in the morning or on a weekday to avoid the biggest crowds.
Ryan G — Google review
Meguro River is one of the most beautiful and iconic spots to enjoy cherry blossoms in Tokyo. During sakura season, the riverbanks are lined with hundreds of cherry trees in full bloom, creating a breathtaking tunnel of pink petals. The reflection of the blossoms on the water adds to the magical atmosphere, making it a perfect location for photography and leisurely walks. The area also features charming cafés, restaurants, and street vendors, allowing visitors to enjoy seasonal treats while soaking in the view. Whether you're visiting Tokyo in spring or simply looking for a serene escape in the city, Meguro River offers an unforgettable hanami experience.
Suwichcha K — Google review
I went on a grey drizzly Sunday. Consequently, few people walking the length. I limited my time in Tokyo as I prefer smaller locations and natural sights. However, this was beautiful even on a grey day. The blossoms do not let you down. On a sunny day, it would be breathtaking. I walked the full length and was all magical. I tried to arrange kayak trip down, but they cancelled due to inclement weather shame. The walk you can take your time or if in a hurry go fast or cut out. Paths go down both sides. I swapped sides to get different perspectives on different sections when passing bridges. Highly recommend that you will not be disappointed.
Redfern R — Google review
It’s the kind of beauty that makes you want to see in person. Though the peak of sakura season passed just a week ago, the charm of the spring lingers in the air, fresh green sprouts now peek from the branches, quickly whispering that the season is still alive. Cold night wind dances through the trees, it stirs the petals sending them down the river. The flowing water once a quiet blue, is now blushed with soft pink – a fleeting canvas of nature’s poetry. The scene, though touched by time, remains utterly enchanting.
Huang K — Google review
The cherry blossoms make the promenade absolutely beautiful, but it can be difficult to enjoy due to the sheer volume of tourists that are always present. We went early on a weekday and it was still difficult to avoid large crowds, especially in the busier areas. Would recommend coming at maybe 6am if you want to get pictures with fewer people.
Mary — Google review
One of the famous Cherry Blossom spot in Tokyo. Rows of the Sakura tree’s stretching along the Meguro river. During full bloom the beauty is next level, the beauty of the Sakura petals floating. I visited here around April 12, it’s almost full bloom & end of Sakura season. It’s cost around 1hour max to max 1.5hour for enjoying viewing. Really enjoyed, must visit here.
Pratham K — Google review
Today was my first visit: Spring 30 March 2025. The sakura trees are 87% full blooms. It was as magical as expected. It’s can get very crowded, but everyone was polite and shared the view. Go there as early in the day as possible to have more space for photo.

Great environment. Outstanding planetarium

(Translated by Google) I wanted to see a planetarium, so I looked for it and thought it was the best in Tokyo, so I went. At 200 yen for adults and 50 yen for children, the cost performance is incredible! Don't think it's because it's run by the government! You can experience hospitality and performance that rivals the private sector! (I won't go into details as it would be a spoiler) Approximately 1 hour trip to the starry sky✴︎Thank you to all the staff for having such a wonderful experience! I went for a family event starting at 11am. When I arrived around 10:15, I saw a glimpse of the planetarium users. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the number of seats is limited, but the occupancy rate is about 60%. I think I can get in just before. Seating is unreserved, so you'll definitely want to sit in a large group (more than 5 people) or in rows! If so, it might be better to wait in line on the 5th floor after purchasing your ticket. There's a library, so I was reading until 5 minutes ago. Still, we were able to sit side by side, so it seemed like it would be nice to have a relaxed sense of time. ------------------------------------ - Shinagawa Ward Gotanda Cultural Center - <access> 10 minutes walk from Osaki Hirokoji Station JR Gotanda Station 15 minutes walk <car> Parking lot (partner) available Times on site 30 minutes free 30 minutes/220 yen (daytime) ------------------------------------ (Original) プラネタリウムが観たくて探したら都内最強かなと思い行きました。大人200円 子供50円のコスパは半端ない! 行政の運営だから、、と思うなかれ!民間顔負けのホスピタリティやパフォーマンスを体験することができますよ! (Translated by Google) This place houses the ward library and planetarium. I haven't seen the planetarium, but the library has Wi-Fi and features books and music CDs related to the starry sky. There is also a book corner for teenagers, and although the size and number of books is not that large, the way they are displayed is well thought out. The reading corner seems to be usually full. (Translated by Google) There's a wonderful planetarium in a place like this! I wish I'd known about it sooner. The library is in the same building, so it's great that you can use the library while you wait. However, the planetarium is generally open on weekends and holidays. I wish there were more weekday slots available for the general public. Akarenga Park, also known as the Red Brick Warehouse, is a unique and rare treasure in Japan with its Victorian British design influence. Situated in the Minato Mirai urban area, it offers a bayside promenade featuring restored warehouses and vibrant flower displays. Visitors can enjoy stunning night views and captivating light shows at this popular attraction.
Beautifull place to be. Whether to jog, or to gather your thought. Good to socialize, or to be alone. Here is 'something for everyone.

Nice park with plenty of things to see. Flowers, places to eat, photo friendly areas and overall feel-good place.
Mayflower T — Google review
Next to the Red Brick Warehouse, it is the open area for sit, walk and enjoy any weather. Good for having a break, sit and talk, or eat. There are green grass patches and benches to sit. A couple of cruise options to Yokohama Station are also available from this waterfront. Also a good place to enjoy and participate in the events happening in the premises.
TAHIR C — Google review
Akarenga Park in Yokohama is a delightful urban oasis that seamlessly blends historical charm with modern leisure. As a visitor with an affinity for both culture and relaxation, I found this park to be a true gem in the heart of the city. The park's centerpiece is the iconic Red Brick Warehouse, a remnant of Yokohama's rich maritime history. The historic architecture, coupled with the serene waterfront setting, creates a captivating ambiance that transports visitors back in time. The warehouse has been repurposed into a vibrant shopping and dining complex, adding a contemporary touch to the historical site. Strolling along the park's promenade, I was treated to stunning views of Yokohama Bay and the Yokohama Landmark Tower, adding to the picturesque allure of the location. Akarenga Park is a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a wide array of events and seasonal festivals throughout the year. The lively atmosphere, coupled with the lush greenery, provides a perfect setting for picnics and social gatherings. As a culture enthusiast, I appreciated the occasional art exhibitions and performances that added an artistic flair to the park's offerings. In conclusion, Akarenga Park in Yokohama is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a blend of history, leisure, and natural beauty. The harmonious integration of the Red Brick Warehouse's historical significance with the modern amenities and scenic waterfront creates an enchanting and dynamic experience. Whether you're exploring Yokohama or simply seeking a serene escape, Akarenga Park promises an unforgettable journey through the city's cultural and natural splendor.

Fantastic park during the Pikachu Outbreak. The light and water show was great especially when they utilized the drones. The show lasted nearly ten minutes. A lot of refreshments are available between the two red brick warehouses.
Tokyo J — Google review
Paved park beside Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. Good view of the warehouses and Yokohama Harbor (not in pictures--sorry) but there is limited seating or things to do in the park itself. Basically just an open space.

Ferry service
Sea Bus Pier is a popular spot in Yokohama for enjoying a scenic boat ride. The Sea Bass, an ocean bus, operates from this pier and connects various attractions such as Yokohama Station East Exit, Minato Mirai 21, Red Brick Warehouse, and Yamashita Park. The boat offers great views from its glass parts and provides both direct and indirect voyages to Yamashita Park. Additionally, night cruises are available for experiencing the beautiful city lights.
A short ferry between Yokohama and minatomirai area and Yamashita park. Can get nice views of Yokohama Bay Area.

Punctual service. You need to buy tickets at the pier and enter. The ride is not that long, but it gives a good view of the Yokohoma front.
Bhanuka S — Google review
Great water ride with a fantastic view of Minato Mirai

Fun, simple boat ride. AND STILL OPEN AS OF SUMMER 2022 -- just not at Yamashita-park. Open at other locations such as their AkaRenga and Yokohama station places, plus Hammerhead Port.

Nice walk along the waterfront with the boats nearby.
Jared L — Google review
Reliable and punctual. I felt safe onboard. Try to get to the boat among the first to score the back open air seats!
