Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, also known as Aka Renga in Japanese, is a historic brick warehouse that has been transformed into a vibrant shopping and cultural center. Located in the Minato Mirai 21 district of Yokohama, it is surrounded by popular attractions such as the Yokohama Museum of Art, Cosmo World, and the Cup Noodle Museum.
Bustling with activities on a very warm and bright day - more locals than foreign tourists. Variety of foods and Japan made goods. Lovely to browse and enjoy the cooler air conditioning and lots to see and do
Calvin H — Google review
Such a nice place! The walk to get there is very soothing and the building is beautiful. The shops inside sell mostly leather goods, jewellery and home decor but everything has a quality feel to it and many things seem to be made locally. The gourmet section is also great. Highly recommended! And the balcony is a super nice place to just sit and relax a bit…
André M — Google review
It was not free to get into the outside food market but do not let that stop you from exploring inside the historic brick warehouse. A few restaurants, the one we decided on was Chano ma and we had no complaints. The service, environment and food was very comfy as they have beds on the wall. Please also stop by the honey stand, The Wharf restaurant and the pie area as well. Just a few more miles away was a fair going on. Do much going on to do in this area.
Isis C — Google review
We happened to pass by the Red Brick Warehouse with friends, and the sea breeze here was absolutely refreshing. Inside the warehouse, you’ll find a variety of creative boutiques and restaurants—perfect for browsing around and spending a leisurely afternoon. You can also enjoy a nice meal while taking in the charming atmosphere. Conveniently, there’s a water bus stop right here, offering a scenic ride to Yamashita Park.
Dean C — Google review
The Red Brick warehouse in Yokohama is one of the most famous tourist attractions. We spent almost three hours here because of the weather. We were there on a rainy day. The indoor shopping has become our favorite spot. The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is essentially a shopping mall featuring numerous restaurants and stores. It is huge. I don't think I had checked out more than half of the shopping center after three hours of walking around. We made some purchases and had drinks and snacks. The shopping experience is good, except it was very crowded all the time.
Michael W — Google review
Let me level with you: the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse looks like it was designed by a graphic designer with a thing for industrial chic and disposable income. On paper, it’s perfect—historic brick architecture, wide open waterfront, and enough boutique shops to bankrupt a small nation. In reality? It’s basically a shopping mall that got tenure. The shops? Overpriced. Like, “We know you’re from a cruise ship and you won’t check the exchange rate” overpriced. Leather handbags, handmade glass, and 800-yen fridge magnets line up with military precision, screaming, “You forgot to bring home a souvenir, didn’t you, Greg?” Now, to be fair, the exterior plaza is gorgeous. Wide open space, clean, breezy, and I can totally see this place transforming during festivals or night markets. You give this place a food truck rally or a jazz fest and it jumps up a full star, maybe two. But when it’s just regular shopping hours? It feels like walking through an Etsy algorithm that learned to charge rent. Would I come back? Yeah. But not for the shopping. I’d come back to watch people, sip a beer, and wait for the kind of overpriced artisan taco that says, “You’re not in Tokyo anymore—you’re in Yokohama, baby.”
Jim R — Google review
I couldn't see much of the exterior because I came at the wrong time—it was nighttime and pouring rain, so this is the only photo I managed to take... But the inside is actually pretty decent for chilling! There are tons of restaurants, and you can grab souvenirs here too. In my opinion, it's way better to buy them here than anywhere else—why? Because they're more *authentic*? Lol, that's the gist of it!

The versatility of Yokohama Red brick never ceases to amaze me. They host a ton of seasonal events throughout the year and it is located near world porters mall and Cosmo world, this place is on the top of the list and will definitely return for another visit.

Yokohama Cosmo World is a family-friendly amusement park with a variety of attractions, including a giant Ferris wheel and thrilling roller coasters. Additionally, the ASOBUILD complex offers entertainment for all ages, featuring an amusement bar lounge, gourmet street, sports court, artisan workshops, and a children's indoor theme park called Hapipi Land!

Yokohama Cosmo World is a fun and vibrant amusement park located right in the heart of the Minato Mirai area. The park is best known for its giant Ferris wheel, the Cosmo Clock 21, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Yokohama skyline, especially at night when everything is beautifully lit up. It’s a great photo spot and a must-try ride if you visit. The park is divided into zones for different age groups, making it perfect for both families and young adults. There are classic carnival-style attractions like haunted houses, water rides, and roller coasters. I personally went on the pink roller coaster, and it was super fun! It cost 900 yen, and honestly, it was totally worth it. The drops and turns were exciting but not too scary—just the right balance for a thrill without feeling overwhelmed. It also gives a cool view of the park during the ride.
UGA C — Google review
Cosmo World in Yokohama is a delightful surprise tucked right into the heart of the city’s waterfront. It’s a compact but vibrant amusement park that offers something for everyone—from thrilling roller coasters to charming coin-operated rides for the little ones. We stopped by on our way to a nearby wedding venue, and I’m so glad we did! My older kids had a blast on the big rides, especially the roller coasters, which were way more exciting than I expected for a city park. My youngest was enchanted by the tiny kiddie rides and arcade-style machines scattered throughout the grounds. It’s the kind of place where every age group finds their own joy. One of the park’s most iconic features is the massive Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel, which lights up beautifully at night and doubles as a working clock. I didn’t get a chance to ride it this time, but it’s definitely on my list for next visit. There’s also a water ride that was surprisingly dry—perfect if you want the fun without the splash. The location couldn’t be better: right by the water, close to the Yokohama World Porters mall, and surrounded by scenic views. At night, the whole area glows with colorful lights and reflections off the bay, making it a magical spot for an evening stroll. The park opens late—until around 11 PM—which makes it easy to squeeze in a visit even after a busy day. Cosmo World isn’t huge, but it’s packed with charm and energy. Whether you’re traveling with kids or just want a fun detour in Yokohama, it’s absolutely worth a stop.
Mika M — Google review
Very disappointed. Only giving 1 star because you can’t review without it. It was extremely upsetting and shocking to be told blind people can’t go on the rides, even with a person accompanying. We have been on rides all over the world, including other parks here in Japan, with no issue. No reason was given., we were just told no. Japan is a country that welcomes and encourages people with disabilities and usually provides access at every opportunity. There are tactile and Braille everywhere, with wheelchair access freely available to almost every building. It completely baffles us why this amusement park has decided people with a vision impairment are not welcome.
Natalie O — Google review
Always open for business. Good price for the rides. Safe and secure and fun.
Damien S — Google review
Cute little pay-per-ride park! We did the haunted house, ferris wheel and 2 of the coasters. The "dive" coaster is currently closed. If you ride the ferris wheel, I highly recommend the cabin with see-through floor. Prices are reasonable.
Will G — Google review
Good experience and Ambience Yokohama city view evening time Must visit Really Good Atmosphere and Ambience Cosmo Clock 21 Ride experience is amazing
Mani V — Google review
Fun place to come for people of all ages. Nice mix of rides for little children, teenagers, and adults. It was a chilly evening, so not many people were getting on the water rides, but they were still opening. There's also amusement games, shops, and a few places to eat. For the rides, you purchase the tickets at the central ticketing station. There was a long line for the Ferris Wheel, but only lasted about 30-45 minutes. It provided a nice view over Yokohama.

The Yokohama Landmark Tower is an iconic structure that stands tall in Japan, featuring a luxurious hotel, bustling mall, and modern office spaces. One of its highlights is the Sky Garden observation deck, where visitors can ascend in the country’s fastest elevator to enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views that stretch all the way to Tokyo and even majestic Mt. Fuji! The tower's stunning lights reflect beautifully on the bay waters below, creating a romantic atmosphere for couples strolling nearby.
Tallest building and fastest elevator in Japan! Amazing experience. At the top floor you can take in the view of Tokyo from various direction. Not only the tower but the whole mall and area surrounding are worth checking out.
Vivian C — Google review
Amazing panoramic views of Yokohama. The elevator is super fast and quiet. It is fun seeing the red brick warehouse, ferris wheel and other rides from far away. Take note of the photo signs facing each direction that explains the buildings in the view. There are places to sit, rest and have a drink without feeling rushed to leave. Other activities for children were taking place too.
Victoria B — Google review
An absolutely stunning view from the visitor's plattform. I was there on a Friday for the sunset, didn't have to que at all and went directly with a few people to the top for 1000 yen. It was absolutely worth it! Though the skies were clear, Mt Fuji was hidden as well as the setting sun. Nevertheless I went a few rounds, took seat at varois occasions and enjoyed a beer while the day fades and the lights go on in the agglomeration. In contrast to Tokyo Tower and the Sky tree, there are very few visitors and that alone is fantastic! No queing to go up or down and the possibility to watch the city from different spaces (on the Sky tree there are lines for certain spots). The highlights are the harbor, the ferris wheel and other rides below the tower and the surrounding city.
Walther X — Google review
Amazing experience. The views form the sky garden 69th floor are simply amazing. Nice little cafe and souvenir shop up there as well. 1000 yen admissions. The evelvator goes 28 mph. Your ears will pop. Check it out when visiting Yokohama. You can even see Mt Fuji.
Freddy C — Google review
Very recommended side for observatory deck, clean and tidy, 900 yenes entrance fee. The restaurant offered drinks, side dishes, beverages. Dishes consist of huge hot 🌭 dog, Nachos with 5 small sausages, drinks offered specialty drinks, coffee, teas, sodas like cola, ginger alle, Japanese mocha, juices like apple, orange, grapes. Very clean and not crowded.
Julio U — Google review
The former tallest building in Japan, you can take a quick ride to the 69th floor for great views from Yokosuka to Mount Fuji. There is a library, coffee shop, and gift shop at the top. There is ample seating and space to spend time at the top of the building. Highly recommend giving this a try if you are in Yokohama.
Pbandj37 — Google review
It was once the tallest building in Japan, now the second tallest but it still holds the record with the fastest elevator in Japan running at over 750 meters per second. The views are stunning and the sweets at the observation deck gift shop are tasty. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Yokohama.
Blazej K — Google review
I love the atmosphere on top of the tower. It is so much more relaxed than the Skytree with a lot less crowding. You can grab a drink from the bar and watch the sunset without time pressure. Both times I went to the tower I was able to see Fuji, one time only the silhouette and the other a clear view. Incredible.

Yokohama Chinatown is the largest of its kind in Japan, boasting around 250 Chinese-owned shops and restaurants, as well as a vibrant entry gate. Located near Shin-Yokohama Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, it serves as a major transportation hub for travelers. While not centrally located, the area offers convenient access to popular attractions via train services to Yokohama Station and other nearby stations.
There’s a very nostalgic vibe about the Yokohama Chinatown, the infrastructure is beautiful, streets are clean. Lots of shops that are beautifully decorated and Chinese Japanese food. It’s one of the largest China town in the world so be sure to visit if you are in Yokohama.
Issac T — Google review
A walk through Yokohama’s Chinatown turned out to be a real discovery for me. It’s not just a tourist street lined with restaurants and shops, but a whole district with a rich history and an atmosphere all its own. It also happens to be the largest Chinatown in Japan and one of the biggest in the world—you can really feel its scale the moment you pass through the colorful gates and find yourself surrounded by glowing lanterns and the aromas of street food. The story of this place goes back to the 19th century, when Chinese merchants began settling here after the port of Yokohama opened. Over time, they built temples, opened shops and restaurants, and formed a vibrant community. The area was destroyed more than once—first during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, and later in World War II—but each time it was rebuilt, coming back even brighter and more lively. Chinatown is especially impressive during the Chinese New Year. The streets fill with music, lion and dragon dances, lanterns light up everywhere, and the entire district turns into a massive celebration. It feels like you’ve stepped into another world. What struck me most was the Kanteibyo Temple—such a beautiful and powerful spot that gives the whole walk a deeper meaning. Chinatown is a place I’ll return to again and again, whether it’s to try new dishes, notice hidden architectural details, or simply soak up the festive atmosphere that seems to live here every day.
Irina F — Google review
Vibrant and delicious cultural experience! Yokohama Chinatown is full of energy, colorful streets, and amazing food! From authentic Chinese restaurants and street snacks to unique shops and beautiful temples, there’s so much to explore. The atmosphere is lively and festive, perfect for wandering, tasting new flavors, and taking photos. A must-visit spot for foodies and anyone wanting a cultural adventure near Yokohama!
J _ — Google review
It was my first time visiting a chinatown and while from the outside the decoration looks inviting and traditional, the locals that work in the stores and restaurants were not pleasant. Many will try to lure you into their store and wont let you walk in peace. Many restaurants dont offer english menus and when i ordered something i was overcharged by double the price. While the town itself is a nice sight, i would stay far away from non english speaking locals and rather grab a drink somewhere else in yokohama.
Simo C — Google review
Very lively and colourful neighbourhood. Yet, not jam packed with tourists as in central Tokyo for example. You can actually walk and admire things here! Many restaurants and interesting shops and there’s a train station very nearby if you’re coming from central Tokyo.
André M — Google review
The last time I visited Yokohama Chinatown was over 40 years ago. It has some changes. However, one thing that remains unchanged is that it attracts many tourists. The Yokohama Chinatown is similar to most Chinatowns in other countries. It has a lot of Chinese restaurants and stores, where I can enjoy a good meal, buy some snacks, and grab some drinks.
Michael W — Google review
Great place to visit at night. The lights were beautiful. The air was filled with a combination of various food. I would come here again.
Peter P — Google review
One of the most colorful and lively spots in Yokohama! Yokohama Chinatown is the biggest Chinatown in Japan, and it’s absolutely packed with amazing food, bright lanterns, and beautiful gates at every corner. Super easy to get to from Tokyo too—just around 40–50 minutes by train. There’s so much to explore here! The streets are filled with Chinese restaurants, snack stalls, dim sum shops, and souvenir stores. I recommend trying the pork buns, sesame balls, and soup dumplings—there are lines at some places, but they move fast and it’s totally worth it. Besides food, the area is just fun to walk around. It’s very photogenic, especially at night when the lights come on. There’s also a beautiful temple (Kanteibyo) right in the middle of it all that adds to the atmosphere. I went during the afternoon and stayed until evening—perfect timing to enjoy the shops and see everything light up. It can get busy, especially on weekends, but that’s part of the energy.

Yamashita Park, established in 1930, is a charming seaside oasis that beckons visitors with its vibrant flower beds and impressive monuments. Nestled along the waterfront, this picturesque park offers stunning views of the city skyline, especially at night when the lights twinkle against the backdrop of the big wheel. With plenty of benches scattered throughout, it's an ideal spot for relaxation and people-watching.
“Visited Yamashita Park TODAY( Monday, May 12, 2025). The park was beautifully in bloom, filled with an impressive variety of roses in every color and form. The atmosphere was vibrant and serene, truly making it a ‘rosy’ day in every sense. From the fragrant air to the stunning visuals, everything about the area felt charming and uplifting. It was a wonderful experience, and I genuinely enjoyed the peaceful, rosy vibes throughout the park.”

On Sept 23, 2025, my wife and I came to this waterfront park. Judging from the number of visitors and activities here, the Park was a popular one. We didn’t walk much but took a tour bus from a nearby station - we bought a one-day bus/train ticket for Yen700.

Very nice park to visit, enough benches and resting place. Amazing view and nice green area to be. Very nice to walk from china town to the red brick warehouses. Loved it. We watched the harbor and it was very chill and surprising

Lovely rose garden and very nice weather. We walk from China Town to Yamashita Park, Yokohama Red Brick warehouse, and Cosmo World. Enjoy the day by walk only. No need to catch the train at all.

Very well maintained open space. Plenty of open grass space for picnic or simply have a nap. It's within proximity to the cruise ship docking port, so super popular with the tourists and visitors. It's a great walk- 5KM and can make your way towards the red brick building which is a hub for food and gifts. Depending on weekends, there might be markets or events. I was lucky to come during a massive dog owner event and all the stores were dog related items for sale. Also nearby there's the ropeway and a large shopping centre. Also a great place for morning running if you have close by accommodation.

We recently visited Yamashita Park and had a wonderful time! The flowers were in full bloom—both beautiful to look at and fragrant as we walked through the park. The weather couldn’t have been better—sunny with a nice breeze off the bay, perfect for a peaceful stroll along the waterfront. The view of the harbor adds a nice touch, and the open space makes it great for families, couples, or even solo visitors looking to relax. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Yokohama!

The Cup Noodles Museum Yokohama is a delightful destination that celebrates the fascinating world of instant ramen and its visionary creator, Momofuku Ando. Established by Nissin Food, the museum offers engaging exhibits that encourage creative thinking, making it perfect for families.
My Visit to the Cup Noodles Museum, Yokohama Before stepping into the story of the Cup Noodles Museum, let’s pause to honour the man who changed how the world eats ,Momofuku Ando. We all know instant cup noodles ,that magical meal ready in minutes. I’ve often carried them while travelling, a quiet source of comfort and assurance. This thought, this comfort, this feeling of assurance all trace back to the brilliant mind of one man: Momofuku Ando of Japan. He wasn’t a scientist, or a famous chef. He was just an ordinary man with an extraordinary dream to make sure no one in the world ever goes hungry again. Timeline of Innovation • 1958: Invented Chicken Ramen in his shed • 1971: Introduced Cup Noodles • 1999: CupNoodles Museum opened in Yokohama • 2005: Created Space Ramen for zero gravity Over the years since opening: expansions and renovations to add more interactive features and modern exhibits. Today: The museum continues to evolve as both a cultural destination and a fun experiential place for families, food lovers, and kids. About the Museum Located in Minato Mirai, Yokohama, the museum celebrates Ando’s legacy through creativity, innovation, and food culture. Operated by Nissin Foods, it encourages visitors to experience rather than just observe. Major Exhibitions & Attractions: Here are some of the key features of the museum: The Momofuku Theatre: A 58 meter long panorama (illustrated, friendly for kids) tracing Ando’s life, thinking and inventions. screening time is 14 minutes, screened every 10 minutes. Momofuku’s Work Shed : A faithful recreation of the simple shed where Ando worked on Chicken Ramen. Emphasises the message: “With an idea, ordinary tools, and passion, you can make something great.” Instant Noodles History Cube : Exhibits over 3,000 packages of instant noodles from around the world, showing how it grew into a global culture. My CUPNOODLES Factory : A hands on attraction where you can design a cup, pick your soup flavour and select toppings (there are thousands of combinations). Chicken Ramen Factory : A more advanced workshop where you can make noodles by hand, kneading, steaming, flash frying, etc. NOODLES BAZAAR : World Noodles Road ,A food zone where visitors can taste various noodle dishes from around the world (reflecting Ando’s interest in global noodle culture). CUPNOODLES Park : A playful “factory” park where children experience the journey of a noodle in a fun way. And finally, visiting it, is more than just seeing “instant noodles”. It is about appreciating a modern invention with cultural significance. My Experience: The museum is playful, inspiring, and beautifully designed. Take your time, each exhibit tells a story of creativity, perseverance, and global connection. And finally, visiting it, is more than just seeing “instant noodles”. It is about appreciating a modern invention with cultural significance. My last meal before flying home was, fittingly, a Cup Noodle. But this time, it wasn’t just food ,it felt like a tribute to Ando’s dream. ♿ Accessibility: Elevators provide easy access for wheelchairs and baby prams. Nearest Stations: • Minatomirai Station – 8 min walk • Bashamichi Station – 8 min walk • Sakuragicho Station – 12 min walk

1 hour was plenty for the museum itself. It is pretty small and is just one floor. 4th floor had a cool food court area where you can purchase noddle cuisines from different countries. There was also a playground for kids. The cup ramen experience takes as much time it takes you for decorating. The line probably took about 5 minutest to get in, then another 10 min tops for the line for toppings & packaging. The gift shop area was cool so make sure to checm that out.
Amy ( — Google review
Such a fun and unique experience for when you are in Japan so I highly reccomend! We booked tickets in advance so we could get a guaranteed time slot for the Cup Noodles Factory. The factory experience was so fun as you could design your own cup noodles and customise the flavour/ toppings. The staff members were all super helpful and friendly guiding you through each step. The museum was also well organised with interactive elements and an entertaining but informative film as well. We finished off our museum experience with the Noodles Bazaar that offered a variety of noodle dishes from around the world as well as some strange but unique desserts such as cup noodle flavoured soft serve!

We had a wonderful time at the Cup Noodles Museum. It was eye-opening to learn about the history and science behind instant noodles in such an engaging way. The exhibits were interactive and well-presented, making it enjoyable for both adults and kids. The highlight was the workshop, where we got to create our own cup noodles — a fun and memorable hands-on experience, especially for the children. Highly recommended for families! The rooftop had a beautiful view of Yokohama Bay.

It's neat to see the release of different flavors around the world by year and to make you own cup of noodles (extra charge and may need reservations depending on how crowded). The museum is small in regards to content. The history is all in Japanese.. so bring a translator if you want to read it. Its very kid friendly. If its just adults I recommend going to the ramen museum instead.. there you get the history and get to get some really good ramen.

A must visit for all noodle lovers. The humble beginning of the instant Noodles, through challenges and innovation is well told. The movie shown is very informative. You can make your own custom noodles and take it home as a souvenir. The observation deck on top has some great views. The food court has collection of delicious noodle dishes from different parts of the world

This was an interesting museum. I enjoyed seeing the wall of hundreds of different cups of noodles over the years. There is a free audio tour in different languages you can listen to as you walk through the museum. Bring your own earbuds! Making your own Cup of Noodles was fun. Nice gift shop. They have a restaurant with different types of noodles from all around the world. It's relatively inexpensive. You could spend around 2-3 hours here.

Nice bit of history about a poor student staple meal. Amazing to learn Momofuku Ando came up with instant ramen at the age of 61. The My Cup Noodles activity was fun, but more suited to kids and groups. It was nice to see how they package the ramen and seasonings. I can't wait to taste my custom ramen.

The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is a unique destination that offers a nostalgic experience of old Japan and the world of ramen. It features a traditional street food court with shops offering samples of ramen dishes from different regions, allowing visitors to taste and learn about the history of this beloved dish. The museum also has a theatre where performances about the history of ramen noodles are showcased.
This is a must visit when you're in Yokohama. Ramen is a Japan special and the history and tradition are displayed here. Bonus is that there is a ramen food court at the basement floors recreating the magic and decor of ancient times. We chose to go to Rairaiken, the historic first ramen restaurant of Tokyo opening in 1920. It subsequently closed in 1976. Fortunately Rairaiken started again in 2020 at this museum carefully reproducing the old recipe and magic. This was our first introduction to Ramen in Japan. And we chose a small bowl with Char Siu. I must say we were sweeped off our feet. The soy broth was light and so flavorful, noodles are soft and the Char Siu firm and succulent. I was craving for another bowl! Now I know why Ramen is legendary in Japan. Not to mention the ultimate cleanliness and meticulous attention to everything!

TLDR: good for tasting different ramen bowls downstairs in small sizes but wish the museum had a bit more substance We definitely enjoyed a few bowls of ramen downstairs. I enjoyed the cappuccino tonkotsu ramen at stall 8 and the shoyu/tonkotsu at stall 4. I also liked that they let you get a small size for 680 yen instead of a full size so you can try multiple. However I wish the museum had a bit more substance. The gift shop is bigger than the actual museum itself. Overall a good experience still

For an experience this is a good place, but not exactly a museum. Entrance fee for an adult is 450yen. Inside, if you pay another 5000 with a reservation you can make ramen noodle on your own.( making the dough i guess) the 1F has a few walls with history of ramen and evolution of ramen in Japan. Also there’s a souvenir shop. In B1 and B2 there are retro type ramen shop which gives the vibe of old japan ramen alleys. Here you may choose a ramen shop to dine and you have to line up between 30~1hour depending on the popularity of the shop. And agin after paying you can enjoy your ramen. So the entrance fee is kind of exaggerated because it is not exactly a “museum”. As an overall it was a nice experience and ramen was good.

The history of ramen in Japan was interesting but the highlight was the ramen food mall in the basement. With the help of a young Japanese woman we queued up for about half an hour to order at our chosen restaurant. The wait was definitely worth it. One of the best konkatsu ramens I’ve ever eaten. Midweek would probably have been five stars.
David P — Google review
Really fun visit with multiple ramen restaurants inside. They are rotating restaurants so they will always be eventually different. Can also get half sized ramen as well. Had a rich history section and a nice souvenir shop. Line up for ramen varies with what time you go.
Notreally M — Google review
Lovely Museum with very tasty ramen and a lot of Info on the history of ramen. A little unfortunate that you can't just order one ramen for the whole group and sit down in the restaurants. Everybody in the group needs to order at least one ramen bowl which can get expensive quick. Other than that I liked it here very much! Will come again to taste the rest!

Most visit place for the lovers of Ramen 🍜. Discover the history of Ramen, shop for varies instant ramen. Try out 6 different ramen restaurants. Number 1 store seems to be the most popular. If you have time you can even book ramen noodles making class. Definitely something to do for every one young and old.

Initially we were going to the cup noodles Museum in Yokohama but, after reading about and visiting this one, I think we made the best choice. The ambience is great, you can choose between many reagional ramen and make your own dry ramen to take home with any picture. You choose. Not packed (we went at the beginning of august), well worth it.

Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, established in 1993, is a well-known amusement park in Yokohama. It offers a wide range of attractions including an aquarium with sealife shows, various amusement rides, a marina, and a hotel.
Yokohama Sea Paradise is perfect for families! The variety of attractions, from the aquarium to the amusement park, offers something for everyone. My kids had a fantastic time exploring the exhibits and enjoying the rides. The staff is friendly, and the facilities are well maintained. Highly recommend for a fun family day out!

One of the best aspects of this place is that you can enjoy the scenic surroundings and general atmosphere without needing to purchase an entry ticket. This makes it a great spot for casual visitors or those just looking to relax outdoors. If you're interested in experiencing the rides and attractions, tickets can be purchased individually at the attraction counters. However, be aware that the individual ride tickets are quite expensive. For those planning to enjoy multiple attractions, I highly recommend opting for a one-day pass, which offers better value and convenience. Note: Parking is available but not free, so be sure to factor that into your visit budget.

Some of the systems and processes they have here are like from Tokyo Disneyland but of course the place is a level down from it but still enjoyable nonetheless. We bought the one day pass so we were able to enjoy most rides, access to animal interactions, and aquariums + shows. If not, they allow scanning of QR code to pay on web or their app (it's cashless which is usually rare for local carnivals and theme parks). Very seamless and fast. The food choices are not super great (pretty much like Disneyland), but I did enjoy the eat all you can seafood BBQ here. We'd definitely come back.

Absolutely marvellous experience. Fun for all ages. Really diverse set of animals they have. 2 kinds of penguins, walruses, seals, great white sharks, belugas, turtles, polar bears, manta rays to name a few… And do not miss the dolphin and beluga show at any cost. Thank me later.

As tourists to Yokohama, we took a train to Hakkeijima to visit the sea paradise aquarium... they have the Japanese spider crabs there and that was our mission - to see them! There is an aqua-theatre with performing whales, dolphins, a walrus and penguins. The aqua facility is only a small part of the larger park, that hosts other land based animals, amusement rides and other forms of entertainment. When we visited on a Sunday, arriving at 10am opening time, there was already a huge crowd present... and very popular with children. The train stops at the park. There is a 10-15 minute walk to the ticket office - not under cover, so be mindful of the weather when visiting. We did not go on rides or visit the amusement section. By appearances, and in our opinion, the park and buildings looked a little tired and wanting for some TLC...

June 2025 One full day trip from Tokyo- Shinsugita station-monorail seaside line to Hakkeijima station and walk 15 min to entrance. Great place for families and young children although it is pretty far from Tokyo. Very impressed with the mammals performance. There are also feeding sessions to purchase. A lot of restaurants and cafes and also souvenir shops. There are also amusement rides for children to entertain. There are Bottle nose dolphins, Husky dolphins, Beluga, sharks, seals and assorted fishes, red panda, capybaras, prairie dogs, otters and etc. There is also a hotel within the park.

Great dolphins show, with variety of animals you hardly getting bored watching it. This time the show mix with music show from sanrio, they also had special event collecting stamp and get sticker pass. Oh yah for someone like us (using public transportation and walk) you should search aqua museum not hakkeijima, it more accurate and save your feet
Fe L — Google review
Very impressive aquarium plus other small animals. For the dolphins shows, no worries of sitting in the front as the water will not splash on you. If you’re not in a hurry, hang around after show end as trainers will play with dolphin and do tricks. Somehow I feel the dolphins are well loved and happy. The Beluga is the cutest.

Sankeien Garden, a traditional Japanese garden that opened its doors in 1906, is a serene escape into nature and history. Nestled in Yokohama, this enchanting space features two distinct gardens: the Outer Garden, which welcomes visitors with seasonal blooms and stunning views of a three-story pagoda originally from Kyoto's Tomyo-ji Temple, and the Inner Garden, an intimate area showcasing historical structures.
A unique experience in Yokohama, away from the crowds. It's just a 30 minute ride by bus from Yokohama station and costs 220 each way. Entrance fee to the grounds is 900 yen, which can seem a bit high, but they don't charge extra for all the buildings and expositions on-site. You can easily spend multiple hours exploring every inch of this place. They have a large collection of flora which blooms at different times of the year. Currently, the lotus flowers are in bloom. The big, bright pink flowers are breathtaking, especially with the pagoda in the back, it's such a unique view. It wasn't busy at all when I was here. It was so peaceful. There are also a few food and tea stalls where you can take a little break. And enough benches throughout the area to take small breaks. Definitely worth visiting.
Ilse E — Google review
Absolutely amazing garden! When initially walking in, you’ll see the biggest Lotus’s you’ve ever seen in your life followed by a huge beautiful pond with large fish, birds and an assortment of turtles. Many buildings were brought to this garden and there is a lot to learn here. It was very hot end of July. I’d recommend a portable fan or umbrella. Price was ¥900/person for adults.

Sankeien (三溪園, or "Three Creeks Garden") is a renowned traditional Japanese-style garden in Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. Spanning 175,000 square meters (about 43 acres), it's celebrated for its serene landscapes, seasonal beauty, and collection of historic buildings relocated from across the country. Designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty, it offers a peaceful escape with ponds, streams, winding paths, and vibrant foliage changes year-round.

Sankeien is absolutely breathtaking — a perfect blend of history, nature, and serenity. The garden is beautifully designed with wide ponds, winding paths, and traditional teahouses that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The highlight for me was the three-storied pagoda perched on the hill, a stunning backdrop especially during cherry blossom and autumn seasons. Entrance is 900 for adults…

Beautiful garden and old houses. Looks like Edo world. Enjoy beer in restaurant by the pond. Shuttle buses from Yokohama St operated on Sat and Sun. We took a local bus which was slow. Taxis waits infront of the garden.
TK — Google review
Sankeien Garden in Yokohama is one of those places that feels like it belongs in a different time peaceful, spacious, and full of quiet stories. The moment you walk in, it’s like the city fades away. You’re surrounded by traditional wooden buildings, koi ponds, stone lanterns, and wide-open walking paths that invite you to slow down. What makes Sankeien special isn’t just the scenery it’s the history woven into it. Many of the buildings here were brought from Kyoto and other parts of Japan, some over 500 years old. The three-storied pagoda perched on the hill is especially striking, like something out of a woodblock print. It feels almost surreal seeing it reflected in the still water below. Every season has its moment here. In spring, cherry blossoms frame the garden in pink; summer brings lush green and lotus flowers; autumn turns the trees a deep, fiery red; and even in winter, the garden has a quiet charm with camellias and snow-dusted rooftops. You’ll find families with kids, elderly couples, and artists with sketchpads all soaking in the calm. There’s also a small teahouse and a museum area that adds to the atmosphere. It's not flashy or crowded like some tourist spots, but that’s the beauty of it. Sankeien feels personal, like a well-kept secret you’ll want to revisit whenever life gets too loud.

A Summer Escape to Sankeien Garden.. If you're looking for a peaceful break from the energy of Yokohama, you've to visit Sankeien Garden. I arrived arounf 11.30 qnd completely charmed by this place, especially in the summer (which a bit hot). It's not just a beautiful park; it's a collection of history, with a bunch of traditional buildings—old farmhouses, pagodas, even teahouses. I have walked through the paths felt like a journey back in time, with each new structure telling its own story against the backdrop of vibrant green. The whole garden is designed so beautifully. The main pond is a big part of the experience, with the dense summer foliage creating perfect reflections on the water. I could have spent an hour just sitting there, watching the ducks and enjoying the quiet hum of cicadas. The paths wind around, leading you to hidden spots and incredible views. The lush, verdant trees create a natural shade that makes exploring even on a hot day incredibly pleasant. A little tip: make sure you find your way up to the Choshukaku Pavilion. It’s a bit of a slope, but the view is absolutely worth it. It’s the perfect spot to sit and take a moment to soak it all in. The front staff were all so welcoming and the price is affordable 👍🏻

The Yokohama Museum of Art is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts, showcasing an impressive collection that spans from iconic masters like Matisse and Picasso to contemporary Japanese artists. This vibrant museum, established in 1989 and designed by renowned architect Kenzo Tange, offers over 10,000 works of art within its spacious and inviting environment.
The building itself is beautiful. A rich collection of Japanese and European art (Dali, Magritte, Kandinsky, Bacon, Ernst and more) with descriptions also in English.

I wish I read the reviews before visiting! The museum/gallery has been closed for many years and now it’s finally reopened, but what a disappointment. The entrance fee is high at 2,500 per person but the ‘exhibits’ were generally weak and of poor quality. I’ve seen better art work from first year undergraduates than what was on public display here. My friend and I wanted to leave almost immediately, but felt after the expensive entrance fee we will walk around the whole place. In total we were there for 20 minutes, and really disappointed.

The art museum with beautiful exterior. They hold special exhibitions with different themes several times a year. Yokohama was a small fishing village until around 1850. But after the international port was built, it developed rapidly and became the metropolis like today. The exhibition introducing the history of Yokohama was very interesting. But I don't know if these exhibits are always on display.
K2 — Google review
A very emotional experience. The art is curated so well that I am actually considering coming back again soon because they actually changed the exhibition every 3 months or so. Just a friendly reminder for special exhibition you always have to book ahead because they always sell out.

BE CAREFUL. If you want to go, even if google says they are open, even if their website says they are open...They might not be. I went recently and I checked both google and their website before coming. Both said it was open. Arrived and everything was closed except for gallery 9: which consisted of some 3 sub-par glass statues, and 2 paintings. It was TERRIBLE. It's a beautiful building, and I would have loved to actually been able to go in, but they were setting up for an exhibition.....the kicker: they closed all the other galleries....FOR A MONTH. The entire month of June, everything was closed except Gallery 9. Gallery 9 is about 5 meters by 5 meters (if that). If you are going to close the entire museum to set up for something, I get it. But say so on your website... stupid.

I went for the permanent exhibit/collection only and was surprised by the WW2/anti-war messaging from the get-go. Very cool and powerful! The art was wonderful and there was a section all about art and how you think about it. Engaging stuff. The staff were also very lovely to interact with.

Yokohama Marine Tower, a prominent waterfront landmark and lighthouse constructed in 1961, features an observation deck offering stunning views of the harbor. Standing at a height of 106 meters (348 feet), this lattice tower was temporarily closed in 2006 but underwent restoration, reopening to the public on Yokohama's 150th anniversary in 2009.
Really neat place to visit. Great views of the city from up top and pretty cheap. 1,000 yen was worth the time.

The Yokohama Marine Tower truly transforms at night! Seeing it lit up against the dark sky is a sight to behold, with its intricate structure glowing beautifully. From the observation deck, the city lights of Yokohama sparkle endlessly, creating a mesmerizing tapestry across the bay. The entire Minato Mirai area looks especially vibrant after dusk. It offers a romantic and captivating perspective of the city, different from the daytime views. A visit at night is highly recommended for a truly memorable experience.
The F — Google review
We visited on a warm Saturday afternoon in summer. The place wasn’t crowded, which was a definite plus if you're looking for a more relaxed outing. The observation decks offer clear views of the ocean, Yokohama Harbor, Yamashita Park, and the NYK Hikawamaru liner—it truly is a beautiful sight. There's basic guidance available for tourists, including signage and English-speaking staff . That said, the tower itself isn’t very tall or expansive. If you've already experienced the nearby Landmark Tower—with its much higher viewpoint—this might feel a bit underwhelming. The extra cost here is harder to justify in that context . In summary: A peaceful, accessible spot with lovely coastal views—but if you’re chasing that “wow” factor from great heights, you might find it a little modest compared to bigger towers.

MARK IS Minato Mirai is a large and popular mall located in the Minato Mirai 21 area of Yokohama. The area is known for its futuristic skyline and serves as a hub for business, shopping, and tourism. The mall boasts 190 stores spread across 10 levels, offering everything from clothing to housewares.
Lovely place to do a li'l shopping and enjoying the night view of the cosmo theme park.
Fadhly M — Google review
Inside this mall (the kind of place where even the air feels filtered through Instagram) there’s a store that quietly asks one of the most human questions imaginable: What if love could be engineered? It’s called LOVOT Studio, and it sells “companion robots.” Not vacuum cleaners. Not assistants. Companions. For about a million yen, you can take home a wide-eyed, plush-skinned robot that wiggles when you touch it, blinks like a Pixar orphan, and coos as if it’s trying to heal the loneliness of an entire nation. I stood there holding one - a small, blinking creature with felt wings and a warm belly...and I swear it purred. It was equal parts adorable & unnerving, like hugging a stuffed animal that knows your tax bracket. I have no kids. No pets. And for a few minutes, I found myself wondering: Is this what some people buy instead of a dog? Or a relationship? Japan, of course, is decades ahead in emotional robotics. But as the Lovot blinked up at me, I couldn’t decide if this was hope or surrender. That’s the paradox of this place...it’s both the future & the mirror. The future, because this is what technology does best: it identifies an unmet need and monetizes it. The mirror, because it reflects what we’re quietly craving: connection, warmth & something that looks back at us and seems to care. So yes, it’s unsettling. But maybe that’s the point. You leave not wanting to buy one, but wondering why you almost did.

Known for its charming boutiques, stylish stores, and cozy cafes, this shopping street offers a refreshing contrast to the vibrant hustle and bustle of Chinatown nearby. It’s a delightful mix of modern elegance and old-world charm, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely family outing. Our children enjoyed peeking into the stores, especially those with quirky souvenirs and handmade items. There’s a great selection of cafes and restaurants as well, perfect for taking a break and enjoying some coffee or a light snack while soaking in the relaxed atmosphere. Yokohama Motomachi Shopping Street Review on 15/4/2025 It was a cool, crisp evening — about half past six — with the sun sinking into the horizon and the temperature gently dropping. Leaving the comfort of our hotel, we embarked on a nostalgic journey toward Motomachi Shopping Streets, a place steeped in cherished memories for one of our traveling companions. The city felt serene, almost ethereal, as we walked along the sparsely trafficked main road. Fairy lights twinkled softly on the shrubs, illuminating sections of the pavement and casting a magical glow. We passed the dark, mysterious street that led to Yokohama Chinatown, a tantalising glimpse into another world waiting to be explored. After about 25 minutes of walking, we arrived at our destination — the enchanting Motomachi Shopping Streets. Greeting us was a striking metal arch crowned with a phoenix-shaped sculpture, its gleaming figure symbolising renewal and prosperity. It stood as a beacon of promise, inviting us into a realm of discovery and elegance. The streets themselves were like stepping into a storybook — no enclosed mall here, but open-air cobblestone pavements lined with charming boutique shops, cozy cafés, and tempting restaurants. The decorative streetlights cast warm halos over the pavement, blending Western sophistication with Japanese artistry to create a cosmopolitan haven. The sky had turned into a blanket of midnight blue, and most of the shops had already closed for the day. Still, the architecture lining the streets captivated us — majestic buildings with distinctive non-Japanese styles, each telling a tale of Yokohama’s vibrant history. Our true quest came to light as we learned our companion’s purpose: to track down the elusive musical clock she had encountered 38 years ago. It was a bittersweet hunt, weaving past storefronts until we found ourselves at a corner 3-storey building specialising in jewelry, watches, and clocks. This store displayed a modest clock design with dotted lights on its external wall — simple yet striking, though far from the grandeur she remembered. Then came the moment we had anticipated — the clock began its performance. Its melody broke through the hushed streets, enchanting the air and transforming the ambiance into something magical. It was a long-awaited delight, an echo of the past that seemed to bridge decades in a fleeting instant. With hearts full and spirits lifted by the melodic chimes, we turned toward the street leading to Yokohama Chinatown, ready to indulge in a dinner that would cap off an unforgettable evening. The journey was more than a stroll; it was a tapestry of memory, discovery, and quiet beauty.

There is a great shop for Japanese Woodblock prints (M. Iishii and Sons) along with a large selection of traditional Japanese ceramics and wooden kitchen items. The shop owners are welcoming and very knowledgeable about the process of woodblock printing. Iishii-San had a small book that he shared to teach us about the traditional process of woodblock printing. Beautiful selection of woodblock prints and having one as a memory of Japan is a treasure. Check it out.

It’s a long walking distance from the World Porters but just beside the Chinatown to go here but the vibe here is different than other shopping street. I can feel the calmness of this shopping street compared to others that is famous among tourists. It’s good if you just want to stroll around it but there is not many things.

It is not crowded but it is filled with the right amount of people which makes it easy to move whilst feeling the buzz from the people around you too. It is such an amazing district and shopping street. It is filled with luxury local finds and some cheaper local goods. It is a blend of almost everything you want to see, enjoy and relax in. Its location is great because it is near to other great sites that are also worth visiting. They have good chocolatiers as well. I highly recommend visiting this shopping district. Also, if you enjoy shopping high-quality and fabrics, make sure to save space in your suitcase.

Once it opens for the day, all the little shops and restaurants inside come to life. Competing pop music in some of the shops can give person a headache, but overall, it’s a good place to check out if you want a distraction or to escape the weather / rain or if you need an umbrella. Prices vary from bargain to exclusive, depending on where you shop. There was a really neat shop in there (石座) that had a lot of stones, and also a beautiful selection of little wind chimes.

Contains lots of gift and toy variety stores with a food court at the bottom with lots of seats. If you’re looking for a place just to take it easy then it’s a place to go and is conveniently located opposite the fun park across the road and the cup noodle museum.

We love the Roof Top World views, more than the shopping area. Kudos to the team who designed and built this Roof Top World. Excellent job! it was very impressive!
Bk1 — Google review
Let me be clear — World Porters isn’t just a mall. It’s a monolith of consumerism, a pleasure dome for the overstimulated. It’s the kind of place that makes you question your commitment to minimalism. And it all kicks off on Level 6 — the roof — where the view hits like an espresso shot to your existential dread. You look out and there it is: that insanely perfect Ferris wheel, towering over the Minato Mirai skyline like a cosmic fidget spinner for adults in denial. The roof has BBQ pits. BBQ pits. Overlooking the skyline. It’s like Burning Man met an urban planner with OCD and a Costco membership. It’s a flex, and it works. Then there’s the VR floor — I found myself in a footrace against giant cartoon pandas while my brain tried to figure out whether this was fun or a metaphor for late-stage capitalism. Thirty bucks gets you unlimited play, and honestly, it’s the best deal in Japan unless you count the 7-Eleven egg sandwich. Shopping? Wild. You’ve got full-blown lolita fashion boutiques next to hip-hop streetwear next to Sanrio pastel hellscapes. You walk fifty feet and age ten years in reverse. One shop sells full lace dresses and platform Mary Janes. The next? Bucket hats and graphic tees that say things like “Boomers Be Gone.” Game centers? Yes. Children chain-smoking imaginary victories at arcade cabinets that look like NASA built them for cardio. Food court? Hawaiian-themed. Because of course. In Japan, you don’t question it. You just eat your loco moco, drink your guava juice, and thank the universe you weren’t born into a country where mall food means a wet pretzel and a Cinnabon-induced insulin spike. If Willy Wonka opened a mall and hired Japanese efficiency experts to run it, you’d get Yokohama World Porters. Come for the noodles, stay for the VR pandas, and leave with a bag full of kawaii merch and a slightly unhealthy addiction to Japanese department store culture. Go. Now. Your inner child is waiting. And it wants a panda T-shirt and a soft-serve cone shaped like Mount Fuji.
Jim R — Google review

Kishamichi Promenade is a captivating pedestrian pathway that links the Nippon-maru Memorial Park area near Sakuragicho station to the Shinko District, home to attractions like the World Porters shopping center and Cosmo Clock amusement park. This former rail line, in operation from 1911 to 1986, now offers sweeping views of Yokohama Bay and features three historic bridges dating back to 1906-1907.
Best place to see the night view of Yokohama. There is no need to go to Sky Garden for sightseeing of the night of Yokohama. Just walk thru this park and bridge and feel some fresh air and enjoy the view. It is much better than any other place and it is free!

Beautifully decorated walkway from Sakuragicho JR station to the Yokohama Red Brick House. I assume the railway along the promennade has some historical significances! The walk is leisure with nice view of the iconic ferries wheel and the tallest building in Yokohama! Also, one of the best place to see the night view of Yokohama! Way better than taking the over-charged and super short distance cable car!

Rinko Park is a spacious and picturesque city park located at the tip of Minato Mirai in Yokohama. It offers stunning views of Yokohama Port and downtown, making it a popular spot for leisurely walks and impromptu picnics. The park features lush greenery, art installations, and a small pond, providing a serene escape within the modern Minato Mirai district. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful evening city lights as they spread out across the harbor.
I only had 36 hours in Yokohama and I’m really grateful I had the chance to walk through this park. It was the perfect reprieve from walking through business building lined streets and it was nice catching locals enjoying what I’m guessing a similar relief. I particularly enjoyed stumbled upon The Fruit Tree amongst other sculptures and pieces along the path.
Chari — Google review
The park is very clean and pleasant, making it a great place to spend time with family, friends, or your loved one. The view is wonderful as well ✨
CR — Google review
This is where Yokohama goes to exhale. After melting under the city sun, we wandered in and immediately questioned why we hadn’t started our day here, sprawled on the grass like content lizards. The park stretches out in all directions: part skyline backdrop, part ocean view, part “I should’ve packed a picnic” regret. There’s space for everyone: kids chasing invisible butterflies, couples posing for very intentional “candid” photos, and us, sitting on a bench debating whether standing up again was worth it. The breeze off the bay felt like a personal apology from the weather gods for earlier cruelty. Bonus points for the random giant fruit sculpture...proof that even art can get sunstroke in Japan. If you need to cool down, recharge, or just watch life roll gently by, Rinko Park’s your place. Bring water, curiosity, and maybe a parasol — the sun here doesn’t mess around.
Jim R — Google review
Rinko Park is absolutely magnificent — a vast, open space that feels both serene and alive. It’s one of those rare places where you can breathe deeply, watch countless dog walkers pass by, and feel part of the city yet far from its rush. The sunsets here are some of the best I’ve seen in Japan — the sky melts into gold and pink over the bay, creating pure magic. Perfect for an evening stroll, quiet reflection, or just sitting on a bench and soaking in the view. A must-visit if you love nature, open skies, and calm coastal vibes.

Harbor View Park, also known as the Bluff or Yamate, is a historic landmark in Yokohama with a rich history dating back to the opening of the port to foreign trade. The park offers stunning views of Yokohama Bay Bridge, Minato Mirai cityscape, and waterfront gardens. It was once a foreign settlement and still features exotic buildings that add to its unique atmosphere.
Beautiful park! Some steps but easy to climb, and the park is very well maintained. It’s the end of October and there are lots of flowers namely many roses. The terrace overlooking the port is also enjoyable. Quite a popular place, I saw there a lot of locals. There are no signs/explanations in English, though, only in Japanese, so Google Translate will be your friend.

Very nice park with an observation deck (platform?) of the harbor (regular port things with large warehouses rather than an aesthetic view). Bathroom available by the deck. Connects to an English rose garden and other small gardens. LOTS of butterflies, so pretty. Went on a Saturday afternoon, there were people but not too much that it felt crowded. Good amount of walking.

This park is big and shaded, with an observatory deck where you can have a view of Yokohama from the top. There’s an English rose garden and an American-style garden to explore. If you're tired, there's an elevator and lift connected to the station, making it easy to avoid the uphill walk.

Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru, located in Yokohama's Minato Mirai area, is a unique museum ship that offers visitors the chance to explore the captain's office, crew cabins, and more. The ship was formerly a training vessel for naval cadets and now serves as a museum showcasing its rich history.
What a great experience!!! It was VERY Cool to see ins and outs of this beautiful ship. To learn of it's history and see how the way of life on board was at the time was enlightening. Nick A — Google review
The Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru (日本丸) is one of Japan’s most iconic maritime landmarks, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the country’s rich naval heritage. Located at the Nippon Maru Memorial Park in Yokohama, this three-masted tall ship is a museum and historical vessel that tells the story of Japan’s maritime training tradition. If you’re interested in history, sailing, or simply exploring something distinctive in Yokohama, the Nippon Maru is an unforgettable experience. Here’s a detailed look at the Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru: History and Background The Nippon Maru was built in 1930 and originally served as a training vessel for the Japanese Merchant Marine Academy. For over 50 years, it was used to train Japan’s future sailors and cadets, providing hands-on experience in navigation, ship maintenance, and sailing. The ship’s purpose was to give cadets the necessary skills to operate large sailing vessels and understand maritime operations at sea. It became an essential part of Japan’s maritime education system. The ship was retired in 1984, after decades of service, and was eventually restored as a museum ship in Yokohama. Today, visitors can board the Nippon Maru and explore various parts of the ship, experiencing what life aboard a tall ship was like. What You Can Expect on the Nippon Maru 1. Exploring the Ship • The Deck: The Nippon Maru has three towering masts that soar high above the ship. Walking around the main deck, you can get a feel for the sheer scale of the vessel and imagine what it must have been like to sail on it during its active years. There are several areas on deck where you can take in panoramic views of Yokohama Bay and the surrounding skyline, including the Minato Mirai district and the Yokohama Landmark Tower. • Mast Climbing: For those adventurous enough, there’s an opportunity to try climbing the rigging and experience what it was like for the cadets who trained aboard the ship. Although it’s not the same as navigating the open seas, it’s a great way to connect with the ship’s history in a hands-on way. 2. Interior of the Ship • The Captain’s Quarters: Inside the ship, you can visit the Captain’s quarters, which is a small but functional space that reflects the captain’s living and working conditions. The space is relatively modest compared to the size of the ship but gives you insight into how the captain would manage the ship and oversee the crew. • Crew Areas: You can also explore the areas where the cadets and crew would have stayed. The officers’ rooms are neatly arranged, and there are exhibits showing what life was like aboard a training vessel in the 20th century. The engine room and sailing equipment are also open for exploration, where you can learn about the mechanical and navigational systems used on the ship. • Navigation Room: The navigation room contains various historical nautical instruments, such as old compasses, sextants, and charts, used by the ship’s officers for navigation. These exhibits highlight the evolution of maritime technology and the training that cadets received during their time aboard. 3. Educational Exhibits • The Nippon Maru Museum provides educational exhibits that explain the significance of the Nippon Maru in Japan’s maritime history. These include historical photos, documents, and models of the ship, all detailing its role in training generations of sailors. The exhibits also cover the broader context of maritime training in Japan and the importance of sail training for the country’s merchant marine fleet. • You’ll also learn about the broader role of the Merchant Marine Academy and how cadets were trained in sailing, navigation, and maritime life. These exhibits emphasize the ship’s importance in fostering international cooperation and the exchange of knowledge between Japan and other countries, especially during its active

Unfortunately the day I want to visit fall on their maintenance's day. Even though I didn't aboard the ship but look from a far still make me feel happy and excited. Will come back again if I visit Yokohama.
Joey T — Google review
Who knew one of my top marine experiences would involve a ship that’s been docked since 1984? For the price of a convenience store onigiri and an iced coffee, I got to board this absolute unit of a ship, wander its spotless decks, and pretend I was a 1930s cadet about to chart the Pacific while actually just looking for the next vending machine. Here’s why it’s great: ✅ Cheap admission: Your wallet will thank you while you hum sea shanties under your breath. ✅ Historical vibes: Built in 1930, it trained 11,500 sailors and circled Earth’s circumference 45 times. Meanwhile, I get winded walking up one flight of stairs. ✅ Immersive exhibits: The navigation room, sleeping quarters, and deck views all scream “romantic maritime nostalgia” and “thank goodness I live in the era of electric kettles.” Sure, it’s technically a museum ship – but if you squint hard enough, it becomes a cruise without the crowds, buffet lines, or norovirus outbreaks. Plus, you’re not trapped at sea with other tourists. Freedom, baby. Pro tip: Visit near sunset when the golden glow hits the ship and skyscrapers behind it. Great for photos, romance, and contemplating whether you’d survive on the open ocean (answer: no).

The Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru (帆船日本丸) is a beautifully preserved maritime museum in Yokohama. The ship's impressive rigging and detailed craftsmanship are a testament to Japan's rich maritime history. The knowledgeable staff and volunteers provide fascinating insights into the life of a sailor, making it an educational experience for all ages. The ship is well-maintained, and the surrounding area offers stunning views of the harbor. A must-visit for history buffs and anyone interested in naval architecture. Highly recommended!

A very interesting look at how merchant marine officers used to be trained. Great tour route and great setup of displays.
Peter G — Google review
Much better than I expected to be honest. I was tempted to walk straight past after taking a picture from outside as I thought it would be a boring visit, it was actually really interesting!! Only 400 yen per person is also a great deal for what could be a 45 minute or more trip, depending how closely you look around. Gives some nice insights into the history and role of the ship, its construction materials, what life at sea might be like, the various living quarters and jobs of the crew and officers. Not all areas are accessible but there is still plenty to see for a snapshot in time.

I went solo on my quick visit to Yokohama and had quite some fun! Due to some confusion, I was a few minutes late for the schedule of the cup noodle making activity. They kindly allowed me to join the next batch so it was a relief. There was also noodle-making, but they don't accept reservations for only one person for it. I easily booked and paid for my ticket through their website the day before I visited.

Located on top of the Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal, the Osanbashi Pier Building features a stunning 24-hour rooftop plaza offering breathtaking views of the port city. From here, visitors can admire the picturesque sight of numerous ferries and ships docked against the backdrop of the city.
The show is going on till 6th January. I will recommend to give a visit here. Total time is 5 minutes and they repeat the same show again. There are huge crowed top of the observatory deck to capture the show. No fee no timing limitation. So you can just sit and enjoy as long as you want. There are lots of sitting areas. The kids are enjoying it a lot. You can have the illumination with the sea view. Cherry on the top and a big moon were there when I visited.

A wonderful place to relax, run, walk, listen to music or just be one with yourself. Watching the sunset over Yokohama and watching the Ferris wheel light up will make you forget about any problem you may have. If it's a nice day and you have a few hours, travel to this location. The scenery can't really be duplicated in many places. There's nothing negative to say about a place that doesn't have anything but has a lot to offer. Going inside the terminal, there's the Blue Terminal Cafe that you can eat at and enjoy the view. Nice clean well lit toilets. The last order is at 7pm and it closes at 8pm. Highly recommended if you're in the Yokohama area.

Nestled within the scenic Nogeyama Park, the Nogeyama Zoological Gardens is a delightful destination for animal lovers and families alike. Established in 1951, this charming zoo boasts an impressive collection of over 90 species, including majestic lions and tigers that will surely captivate your imagination. For younger visitors, there's a petting area where kids can interact with friendly creatures like guinea pigs and mice at Nakayoshi Hiroba—just remember to grab a numbered ticket for entry!
An awesome zoo that surprised me because it was free. I was in Yokohama looking for something to do to kill time before my flight and this zoo was a perfect place to catch the tanuki and Sakura. Highly recommend.
William C — Google review
Free when I went. It’s not a big zoo but I feel it’s a nice place with a variety of animals. Zebra, Bears, lots of large birds, reptiles, etc. They no longer have a big cat. It unfortunately passed away. No taking photos with flash as usual (don’t be mean to the animals, your photo doesn’t need to flash bang them). The petting zoo requires a reservation so make sure to go scan the QR code first if you want to do that. I personally didn’t. They do animals talks (not in English of course, someone in my group helped translate) it’s a good event to see since the animals come closer since the keepers feed them during the talk. The cafe had some nice ice cream treats and there are vending machines in a couple areas for cold treats during the summer (I assume they switch it out for warm things maybe during the cold season). Two indoor areas for resting, the cafe and another building near the petting zoo. Both air conditioned. Gift shop had a good variety and they sold some food there as well.
Mango C — Google review
Great atmosphere, quite variety of beautiful animals, super surprised with the availability of rest areas so clean and nice and free administration. But only one thing that doesn’t seem like all of the animals here are in good health situation especially the kangaroo in the middle spot.
Mỹ T — Google review
A FREE zoo. No lions, elephants, hippo, and rhinos. But still a good place to visit with a 3yo. And in the middle of the city too. Saw some animals that I usually don’t see - red panda, lemur, vulture, pink flamingo. Be warned though - if you commute, you will walk up a hill to the entrance. Not easy with a stroller. The zoo itself is not flat. FYI. There is only one restaurant inside. The curry is good. The takoyaki is average. I wish there was a lion for my kid to see, but you can’t complain because it’s free. When we went, it was after lunch, and we passed by plenty of school kids coming from the zoo. So I am assuming that if you visit in the morning, it’ll be crowded and a bit chaotic with school excursions. Highly recommended if you’re in Yokohama.
Jael W — Google review
The zoo became very nice after reform.I really recommend a visit. The entrance is free.I did a donation to giraffe and lion.💓
Melissa C — Google review
It's free to enter the zoo. There's a variety of animals, including red pandas, chimpanzees, lions, birds, reptiles, bears, and giraffes, all well taken care of (maybe they could consider adding a fish collection though). Each cage is numbered, making it easy to navigate the zoo and see all the animals. There's a feeding time schedule each day where you can watch animals being fed while keepers provide information about them (you can check the schedule on their website). There's also a small animal show that requires reservation before entry. It's so much fun seeing the animals, making it a perfect place for a picnic.
Ghifaroza — Google review
It's a small zoo in Nogezaka. There's no entry fee, which is surprising, but nice . The animals seem to be well treated by the kind and efficient staff. But since the zoo only has a small space, they are confined only in small cages. There's a small train carriage on display which you can enter. It looks like it's an old one from the Shows era
Reynaldo F — Google review
One of three zoos in Yokohama. It’s small but with a surprising variety of animals including Red Panda, Lion, Bears and various birds and primates. It’s a little old, but the hillside setting and leafy surroundings make for a pleasant walk. It’s free to enter and there are plenty of places to buy drinks or sit and take a rest. Will definitely appeal to younger children.

The NYK Hikawa Maru is a stunning ocean liner that dates back to the 1930s and has an intriguing history, having served as a hospital ship during World War II. Now permanently moored in Yokohama's picturesque harbor near Yamashita Park, this majestic vessel has been transformed into a maritime museum. Visitors can explore its beautifully restored Art Deco interiors and historic cabins, which once welcomed over 25,000 passengers during its service years.
Everything about this experience is top-notch. If you are a fan of ocean liner history, this may be the best place in the world to visit in terms of historical ocean liner museums. The history is kept in original condition, sometimes showing its age, but this really allows you to feel the history of the ship. The curation of the museum and the route is so well done that you can tell that the museum runners really care about the history of the liner. Just so well done.
Zach G — Google review
Probably one of the best museum in Yokohama, very underrated. Art deco interiors in this almost 100 year old cruise ship is exceptional! Even Charley Chaplin loved that ship! Dive deep in the history of Japan having voyage in this place!
Solo K — Google review
The admission fee is only ¥300, and the ship is nicely preserved. You can really feel the history inside, though it does have that old, musty smell. Small but interesting to walk around.
Poppy — Google review
Hikawa Maru is a historic ocean liner permanently moored at Yamashita Park in Yokohama. Built in 1930 by the Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line), it served as a luxury passenger ship on the Yokohama–Seattle route. With elegant Art Deco interiors and modern amenities for its time, it quickly became known as the “Queen of the Pacific.” During the Second World War, the ship was converted into a hospital vessel and later returned to civilian service before being retired in 1960 after 30 years at sea. Today, Hikawa Maru functions as a museum ship, preserving its original cabins, dining rooms, and engine room. Visitors can explore the beautifully restored first-class suites, promenade deck, and wheelhouse, as well as exhibitions about Japanese maritime history and the NYK Line’s role in global trade. The ship was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 2016, one of the few preserved pre-war passenger liners in the world. The exhibition route is very well designed, with detailed English explanations. Tickets are surprisingly affordable — just ¥300, or ¥250 with a discount — and a proper visit takes at least an hour and a half. A place absolutely worth seeing, both for its atmosphere and historical value.
Anna K — Google review
The ticket costs ¥300, but you get a discount down to ¥250 if you show the coupon from their website! I DO NOT REGRET coming here at all—it was the BEST decision!!!! I’ve always loved museums anyway, and since I’d never been on a ship before, stepping inside this one was such a cool experience. The interior is super well-maintained, the info boards are really detailed, and I even got to see the engine room??? Awesome! Only downside: I came on a rainy, windy day, so a few spots were hard to reach.

⚓ NYK Hikawa Maru – Yokohama’s Hidden Floating Treasure Tucked along the peaceful waterfront of Yamashita Park, the NYK Hikawa Maru is more than just a ship — it’s a time capsule floating on the sea. Originally launched in 1929, this former ocean liner once carried passengers between Japan and America in luxury and style. Today, it’s been transformed into a beautifully preserved museum ship, offering visitors a rare chance to step aboard a real piece of maritime history. ⸻ 🛳 Step into Another Era The ship is impeccably maintained, with vintage cabins, elegant dining rooms, and detailed engine rooms still intact. Walking through the decks, you can almost imagine the world-class travelers and crew who once sailed across the Pacific on her. Each room tells a story — from first-class lounges to medical rooms used during wartime. ⸻ 📸 Perfect Photo Spots One of the best things about visiting Hikawa Maru is the unmatched photo opportunities. Whether you’re standing on the open-air upper deck overlooking Yokohama Bay, or inside the grand staircase with its polished wood and old-world charm — the ship is full of Instagram-worthy backdrops. There are also designated photo sections with views of the harbor, the city skyline, and even Mount Fuji on a clear day. If you’re into travel photography or just want a cool profile picture, this is the place. ⸻ 🎟 Entry & Access • Tickets are affordable and available right at the entrance. • Located just a short walk from Motomachi-Chūkagai Station and directly beside Yamashita Park.
Haitham A — Google review
We visited on a summer Saturday evening, and it wasn’t crowded at all. The ship itself is a historic ocean liner launched in 1929 and once carried celebrities like Charlie Chaplin, and during WWII it served as a hospital ship—making the visit even more fascinating. ( probably an unwanted fact, but Judo founder Kanō Jigorō passed away on board ;) ) There’s plenty of good information about the ship’s history, and at just 300 yen for an adult ticket, the price feels cheap for what you get. We really enjoyed exploring inside. While the cabin rooms are locked, you can peek into them, and there are displays with sample meals set on the dining tables. Some seats are open for visitors to sit on. One small note: maybe because it was summer, there was a mild, mouldy smell that could be uncomfortable for sensitive visitors—so wearing a mask might help.

Nestled in the heart of Yokohama, the Hara Model Railway Museum is a treasure trove for train enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. With an impressive collection of over 6,000 model trains, this museum offers a captivating glimpse into the world of railways through meticulously crafted dioramas that depict vibrant cityscapes bustling with miniature trains. The museum not only showcases these intricate models but also provides insights into their history and various types.
We had such a great time visiting the Hara Railway Museum in Yokohama! The collection is incredible, with everything from beautifully detailed model trains to miniature railways that actually run on tracks, complete with scenery that shifts from day to night. What really stood out to me was being able to walk right up to the trains and see the craftsmanship and history up close—it felt like stepping back in time. The exhibits are clearly put together with care and passion, and there’s so much to take in. Even if you’re not a big train fan, it’s a fun and fascinating place to explore. We left with a whole new appreciation for the role trains have played in Japan, and it definitely made for a memorable day. 🚂✨

Ok, it's small. And until you reach the last room with the enormous giant plan model, it feels a bit disappointing. Then you reach that room. With passionate staff telling you the museum founder's story... Magical!

Oh. My. God. This place is amazing! I went and it was almost entirely devoid of other guests. The staff are incredibly nice and one of the members and I shared a lovely translated conversation regarding all the little easter eggs on display in the diorama. It really made me appreciate the time and care that all of the staff put together to create such a magnificent diorama. Thdre is also a conductor experience with functional acceleration/brake system which was fun. Everyone with event a hint of appreciation for model railways, dioramas, and mini figures should go to this museum, it is just that cool!

Great place for both young children and adults (who like railway modelling). It is a small museum but we had a great experience enjoying the railway and city models with running trains. A lot of thoughts have been put into the details. The only downside is the inconvenience of buying the entrance tickets at the convenience store at level 1 (Note that museum is at level 2) by foreigners. The ticket needs to be purchased from a machine that looks like a copier within the convenience store. We struggled for a while and got help from the local to buy the tickets as most of the on-screen instructions were in Japanese even if English was selected. Even the two kindhearted guy and lady who help us were struggling. Hope the museum can look at selling the ticket at the entrance. We really appreciate their help , or we would have given up. You need to fill up a contact number when buying the ticket. Just fill out the convenience store number listed on the instruction sheet on the machine. Once the forms are completed, such as time slot for the visit, an order sheet will be printed, then you have to make payment at the cashier. At the museum, we can see a few families and local couples, so we are most likely the only foreigners there. If you plan the visit, I hope the above will help. Before deciding on whether to visit, do have a look at the photos posted.

Nestled in the vibrant city of Yokohama, Sojiji Temple stands as a remarkable Buddhist temple complex that beautifully marries traditional architecture with serene landscaped grounds. As one of the two head temples of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism, it serves as a significant spiritual sanctuary and is among Japan's largest Buddhist institutions. Founded in 1321 and relocated here after a fire in the 19th century, Sojiji offers visitors an oasis of tranquility amidst urban life.
I was expecting it to feel a bit flat and cramped and urban, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of natural beauty. I could feel that this temple is very much alive as a center of worship and learning. I understand its significance as one of the global headquarters of Sotoshu. I was not expecting to feel so much peace and quiet self reflection just walking around the grounds for 90 minutes. Quite impressive. I hope to return for zazen practice someday. Thank you for being so accessible. Brilliant. And happy 700th birthday 🥳 太祖!

Insanely huge temple with many buildings and more smaller temples around the complex. You can get your goshuin at the souvenir shop building which is to the right of it. Also had a cute cafe in a different building with cartoon monk towels and cakendars

Quiet temple on the suburbs - not too much to see but a vast ground with lots of cool buildings. Doesn't seem too friendly for foreigners, not many signs or descriptions in English, but because of this it is rather quiet and also nice for an escape from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Yokohama. Very good if you are looking to take good photos making you feel like you are in the countryside temples.
Dixon L — Google review
Last Temple I saw before coming home to Minnesota (10th trip to Japan). I was convinced to wait a little bit before reviewing this temple because of my negative first impressions. This is the single most overrated place in Japan for a fan of culture or Buddhism. While I was here I saw a Basketball game and did not enjoy the constant sounds of Techno and hard rock music playing throughout the temple grounds (I am not kidding.) At the main entrance to the Temple two people were playing an accordion. There was an American style drum solo that blocked off the main building. Other parts were under construction. Please only go here if you have been to many other Temples already. If you choose this as your first temple you will get the wrong impression. Try and check ahead to see if they will be playing loud music or basketball before visiting. Enjoy the Techno music. (please see Edit this is not a regular occurance) Edit: It has come to my attention that there was a local event at the time I visited. Most major buildings are indeed open most of the year. So check ahead and you may have a great time. It just was not my cup of tea on that date.

Yokohama Station is the largest railway terminal in Yokohama, providing access to multiple JR lines, private railway lines, and a subway line. Situated in downtown Yokohama, it is surrounded by various commercial facilities including renowned department stores like Yokohama Takashimaya and Sogo Yokohama. The area also features discount shops and major electronics retailers, offering a wide range of Japanese products such as kimono, accessories, sweets, cosmetics, and electronics.
Review of Yokohama Station Yokohama Station might seem overwhelming at first glance, but as a tourist, I found it surprisingly easy to navigate—thanks to Google Maps. Seriously, if you’re not sure where to go, just plug in your destination, and it’ll guide you step-by-step, from the platform you need to which exit to take. The ticket machines are a lifesaver, too. There’s an option to switch them to English, which makes buying tickets way less stressful. Everything is straightforward, and even if you mess up or get confused, the staff are super helpful. I had to ask for directions once, and they were patient and clear about which train I needed to take. The trains themselves are clean and feel really well-maintained. I loved how punctual everything was—like, to the minute. It makes planning your day so much easier when you know exactly when your train will show up. Plus, even during busier times, it didn’t feel chaotic or uncomfortable. The whole experience was smooth and surprisingly comfortable, even for someone new to Japan’s train system. If you’re visiting Yokohama, don’t stress about getting around. Yokohama Station might look like a maze at first, but with a little help from Google Maps and the friendly staff, it’s totally manageable—and actually kind of fun!

Avoid Yokohama Station guest service office, it's always long queue and is super super slow moving. Otherwise is an incredibly busy hub, connecting you to so much of the city and beyond! For families, it's super convenient with plenty of shops and eateries right inside and connected. While the station itself is a transport nexus, it's your gateway to fantastic family-friendly spots like the Cup Noodles Museum, Anpanman Children's Museum, or even the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery nearby for car enthusiasts. It's bustling, but efficient for getting around with little ones!

The journey ends where the sea begins. Glass towers mirror the harbor’s blue; ships, lovers, and trains share the same horizon. The Keihin–Tōhoku Line rests here, its rhythm fulfilled. Ideal for sunsets by the sea or night walks under ferris wheel lights.

A beautifully designed station with a multitude of routes and destinations! 🚂💨 Effortlessly navigate the city with ease and convenience.
Rachmad B — Google review
It's a bit tough to navigate if you are here for the first time and want to kill some time or grab something to eat in the nearby malls. It just lacks proper signage which is essential in places that don't allow for GPS navigation using maps. If you are just transferring between trains finding the right platform is a breeze. The only signage that could use some more prominent display are the Narita Airport NE'X train ones. Once you find the right entrance route is easy to follow. Just head to platform 10 and wait for a huge train to arrive. NE'X trains really stand out and it's impossible to miss one when you see it!

It was my first time visiting Yokohama Station, and I was amazed at how huge it is! The size and number of shops inside were overwhelming—in a good way. You could easily spend hours here exploring.

Loads of people, good signage, fairly easy to get on the train you need. Food and bathrooms on site, also a station to get or reload your train card.

Motomachi is a district in Yokohama, located to the south of Chinatown. It has a rich history dating back to the Meiji Restoration when it was popular among foreigners residing in the city. Although many original buildings are no longer standing, the main shopping street still exudes a Western atmosphere and offers an array of shops, restaurants, and cafes.

Ferris wheel
Cosmo Clock 21 is a famous Ferris wheel and clock in Yokohama, Japan. It was built for the Yokohama Expo in 1989 and was once the largest Ferris wheel in the world. Even today, it remains one of the largest, standing at a towering height of 112 meters overlooking the bayside. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and harbor from its capsules equipped with tablets providing sightseeing information.
We went there in 6 June 2025, Good place to visit and the weather is good not hot not cold. The wheel is a must visit to see all over yokohama city. Great time.
Rachain T — Google review
You don’t need a map to find the Cosmo Clock 21. You just follow the glow. At night, it’s less a Ferris wheel and more a pulse: a 112-meter halo of color that marks the rhythm of Yokohama’s waterfront. I stood by the canal and watched the lights shift from emerald to gold, the LED veins rippling across the spokes like some massive cybernetic sunflower. And in the middle of it all, a digital clock that tells you it’s 19:56, as if time itself had joined the performance. It is both old-school and futuristic: first built in '89, it was the world’s largest Ferris wheel & the first to double as a timepiece. But up close, it feels timeless. Couples lean on the railings, teens take selfies, and every few minutes someone mutters the same word in any language: “Wow.” I didn’t ride it. Didn’t need to. Some things you appreciate better from a distance: the reflection shimmering on the bay, the faint hum of the amusement park below, the city skyline playing backup vocals. Yokohama doesn’t need a monument; it has this glowing circle in the dark. Proof that sometimes, a city’s soul isn’t in its towers, but in the things that make you stop walking.

A Day at Cosmo Tower, Yokohama Cosmo Tower in Yokohama is truly a place where you can spend an entire day soaking in beauty and fun. I visited recently, and it was an unforgettable experience. We reached in the afternoon and began with a gondola ride. The ticket costs ¥1,000 per person, and what I found very thoughtful was that each gondola is reserved for one family or one individual ,they don’t mix different groups of people. I found that to be a very empathetic gesture. The gondola slowly climbed to a height of 369 feet, and the view from the top was simply mind-blowing. During the 15 minute ride, we enjoyed sweeping 360° views of Yokohama city, the harbor, the Minato Mirai skyline, Yokohama Bay Bridge, The museum and children’s park .everything looked utterly beautiful. As evening approached, we decided to go for a second ride to see Yokohama illuminated at night. This time, we were lucky to get a transparent gondola, which made the experience even more magical. Though the queue was overwhelming it took us almost 50 minutes to an hour to get into Gondola, but it was worth the wait. Right below the Ferris wheel, there’s an open air restaurant where you sit back, enjoy meal, and soak in the lively atmosphere of the place. When the gondola began to rise, the city sparkled like a scene from a fairy tale. The lights, reflections, and cool night breeze created a mind blowing atmosphere. From above, I noticed something truly spectacular ,the seats placed below the Ferris wheel, where people relax and watch the fun, glowed in vibrant shades of purple & Pink at night. It was an enchanting sight to watch those lights shining like jewels from the height of the gondola. Fun Facts about Cosmo Clock 21 Number of Gondolas: 60 Capacity per Gondola: 8 persons Total Capacity: 480 passengers at once Rotation Time: 15 minutes per full rotation Wheelchair Accessible: Yes ♿ Ticket Cost: ¥1,000 per person Best Time to Visit: Just before sunset, when you can enjoy both daylight views and the dazzling nighttime illumination

Some nice views of Yokohama from above! Very smooth and secure ride for the whole family. Glows brightly with colourful lights in the evening. You can get a view of the amusement park below & roller coaster ride too! We went into a regular gondola but a see-through gondola is available, you just have to wait longer as there's much fewer of them. If you're interested, they offer to take a free photo before you ride the Ferris wheel. You can look & purchase the photo afterwards.

Cable car was better. Too many obstructions in the capsules here and the roundabout was a little too long. Not recommended if you have a fear of heights as it is pretty frightening from the top.

Such a fun cool little adventure place. We got there at 6pm and park closes at 7:30pm so we wanted to make sure we got on the ferris wheel. Views were breathtaking! Price was affordable. There is so much entertainment to see and games to play. Highly recommend.

It's a tall, world's tallest ferris wheel (with clock) almost never stops [only stops when loading people with mobility issues] MUST BUY TICKETS WITH JAPANESE MONEY. NO CREDIT CARDS OR OTHER CURRENCIES. Takes about 15 minutes to ride. It's a ferris wheel we had long wait after getting correct money and tickets BUY TICKETS ON LINE WAY CHEAPER. COST $ 1000 yen 10-12-2025.
Bruce H — Google review
Great views from the top for sure. Once you Passover the top hopefully you’ll get a glimpse of Fuji-san. It’s a bit confusing on where to go but just enter where the roller coaster is located and the head to the back of the amusement park. You should see the signs for Cosmo Click 21 which is the name of the Ferris wheel. Confusing I know.

Happo-en is a historic venue in Shirokanedai city, featuring a stunning Japanese garden with bonsai trees, koi ponds, and a beautifully maintained lawn. Originally the residence of a samurai general in the early 17th century, it now serves as a picturesque backdrop for traditional Japanese weddings and banquets. The garden spans about 33,000 square meters and includes a chapel, temple, and banquet hall for various events.
So beautiful and serene, you wouldn't think it was in such a big city. A lovely koi pond and century's old bonsai.

A beautiful event hall in the middle of Tokyo. The garden is well designed and displays many of the iconic Japanese inspiration structures. There is a lake, waterfall, cute little cottages and, of course, a tea house. It is definitely worth a wonderful walk thru the place and have a wonderful meal at the dining hall. Overall, a very nice event center.

This wedding venue is a wonderful space that combines the best of both Japanese and Western styles. It retains a traditional Japanese atmosphere, while also featuring a beautiful church that complements it. My friend's wedding was truly wonderful, and the service from the staff was of an extremely high quality, making it a lifelong memory for both the organizers and the guests. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the architecture and staff for creating such a wonderful space.

We had the Afternoon Tea set in the Thrush Cafe in Happoen. The garden was beautiful and very well kept. The staff were courteous. The afternoon tea set was, however, below expectation. While the food items were esthetically presented and was a pleasure to look at, the 2 bread items of the day would be, in my opinion, better replaced by savory sandwiches.

Yokohama Kuan Ti Miao is a stunning Buddhist shrine in Yokohama Chinatown, dedicated to the worship of warrior Kanu, a hero from 3rd century China. The shrine is adorned with intricate carvings and art, creating a serene atmosphere for visitors to pray for peace and business prosperity. It's considered a power spot where one can tap into spiritual energy. Despite its grandeur, admission is free and there's no obligation to make purchases.
The temple is nice and clean. Not too big compared to other temples, but worth to visit when you come to Yokohama China town. You can pay 500 JPY for getting the praying instruments.

This shrine enshrines an ancient Chinese hero. The building is decorated with colorful sculptures. You can view the exterior of building for free but the entrance fee is required to enter it.
K2 — Google review
Kuan Ti Miao is a Taoist temple dedicated to Guan Yu, the legendary general from the Three Kingdoms period, worshipped as the god of loyalty, justice, and commerce. The current building was completed in 1990, after the previous temples were destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake (1923), WWII air raids, and a fire in 1986. The temple is a masterpiece of traditional southern Chinese architecture, with richly carved dragons and phoenixes, red columns, and golden decorations covering nearly every surface. The main altar enshrines Guan Yu in his green robe, flanked by his loyal attendants. Incense offerings and divination sticks can be purchased at the entrance, and visitors are welcome to make a wish for prosperity, health, or harmony. I visited today and found it both vibrant and peaceful. The air was filled with incense and every detail — from the ceiling carvings to the massive drum — reflected extraordinary craftsmanship. It’s one of the most beautiful and well-preserved Taoist temples in Japan, and definitely worth a visit when exploring Yokohama Chinatown.

Beautiful shrine. Had a lovely conversation with one of the site priests on the history of the building and the slow creation of the intricately carved interior decorations. Fantastic history :)

First of all, it's not a Shinto Shrine nor a Buddhist temple. It's a Taoist temple dedicated to a few Chinese gods. It's a small temple with wonderful intricate carvings and designs. And like most temples which should not be for profit, it's free to visit and enter. It's a must-stop if you're visiting Yokohama Chinatown.

Nippon Maru Memorial Park is a unique attraction located in the futuristic waterfront of Minatomirai in Yokohama. It features the Nippon Maru, a historic four-masted sail training ship built in 1930, which has been repurposed as a museum. Visitors can explore the deck and interiors of this grand vessel, gaining insight into its 150-year-old maritime history.
The Nippon Maru is an absolute gem! I visited this historic ship in Yokohama, and it was such a cool experience. The ship itself is super impressive with its tall masts and intricate rigging, all lit up against the evening sky. You can really feel the history just by looking at it. The exterior has this old-timey vibe with wooden panels and nautical gear everywhere. Even from the dock, it's fascinating to see. It's not just for history buffs; even if you're just into cool old ships, you'll love it. The reflection in the water at night makes for some awesome photos too. If you're in the area, definitely check it out – it's a fun and educational way to spend an evening! Score of must visit: 5.0

Nippon Maru Memorial Park, located in Yokohama's vibrant Minato Mirai area, is a captivating blend of maritime history, scenic beauty, and cultural significance. The park is built around the historic Nippon Maru, a Japanese training ship that has now been preserved as a museum, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts, families, and anyone interested in Japanese maritime culture. The Historic Nippon Maru Ship The centerpiece of the park is the impressive Nippon Maru ship itself, which was originally built in 1930 as a training vessel for young Japanese sailors. It offers an in-depth look into Japan's maritime heritage and is one of the key attractions in Yokohama. Visitors can board the ship and explore its various decks, which have been carefully restored to maintain the ship's historical integrity. Walking through the ship, you’ll find interactive exhibits detailing its history, the lives of sailors aboard, and its significance to Japan’s naval development. The ship's sleek design and well-preserved interiors allow you to step back in time and imagine life on board during its prime. The upper deck offers wonderful views of the surrounding harbor area, making it a great spot for photos and relaxation. The Park and Surroundings Nippon Maru Memorial Park is located near the water and is beautifully landscaped, offering a peaceful escape in the midst of the bustling Minato Mirai district. The park features manicured lawns, pathways lined with trees, and seating areas where you can relax and enjoy views of the bay and the iconic Yokohama skyline. It’s a lovely space to stroll, sit, or simply take in the scenery. The park itself is well-maintained, and the lush green spaces make it an ideal spot for a leisurely picnic or a moment of respite from sightseeing. In addition, the proximity to the waterfront means you can enjoy a nice walk along the harbor, taking in the sights of the bay and the nearby Yokohama Landmark Tower. Visitor Experience The experience at Nippon Maru Memorial Park is both educational and relaxing. Whether you’re exploring the ship or enjoying the tranquility of the surrounding park, the venue strikes a perfect balance between history and leisure. The park tends to be quieter compared to other tourist hotspots in Yokohama, which makes it an excellent place to unwind and enjoy the area at a slower pace. The ship is an engaging and informative experience, especially for families and those with an interest in naval history. The interactive exhibits are suitable for all ages, and the staff is friendly and informative, offering detailed insights into the ship’s history. The park is also well-suited for couples or anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful afternoon by the water. Best Time to Visit The best time to visit Nippon Maru Memorial Park is during the cooler months, from spring to autumn, when the weather is pleasant and ideal for both exploring the ship and enjoying the park. The park is also beautifully lit in the evenings, making it a nice spot for a peaceful evening stroll with a view of the waterfront. Although the park is open year-round, the summer months can be warm, and it may be busier with tourists. Final Thoughts Nippon Maru Memorial Park is a unique and charming attraction that blends history, maritime culture, and natural beauty. The preserved Nippon Maru ship is a fascinating look into Japan’s naval past, and the park provides a peaceful space to enjoy the views, relax, or learn something new. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone interested in Japanese maritime history or looking for a quiet escape in the heart of Yokohama. A tranquil and informative destination with a lovely combination of history, scenic views, and peaceful park surroundings. Perfect for a relaxed afternoon by the water.

There are a lot of shops in the market selling a wide range of items, from various vegetables and food ingredients to kitchen appliances, flowers, clothes, meat, seafood, and even street food. Some accept payments via QR codes, while others still rely on cash. One morning when I visited, it seemed the market was not yet fully active. There were fewer people, and the product stock appeared to be from the previous day and hadn't been replenished. I would recommend coming in the afternoon or evening instead, as that's when the new stock of products will be restocked. Also, even though different shops sell the same product, they may have different prices, even if it's a small difference.

This is a real old school outdoor shopping mall with a covered pedestrian walking area. The are a couple of hundred yards of small restaurants, green grocers, clothing shops, flower shops, specialty stores, and a 100 yen shop. Yokohama English Garden is a picturesque formal garden featuring over 1,800 varieties of roses that bloom in spring and fall. The garden also showcases cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, cosmos, tulips, and other seasonal flowers. Divided into five themed areas with roses of specific colors, the garden offers guided tours where knowledgeable gardeners share interesting facts about the plants.
We went at 10 in the morning and there was no wait! There’s a bus by Yokohama station that takes you to the garden! Such a beautiful garden! The rose arc wasn’t blooming yet but still everything else is so beautiful and lovely!

Came here for the Halloween decorations last weekend (Oct.6th). We took our 10 months old baby girl and she quite enjoyed how calm the garden was. There were some kids with their cute Halloween costumes! If you have kids or infants, would recommend coming here early like we did, since it was less crowded. The roses will be blooming soon, if you wanna catch the roses, I recommend coming in around 3rd week of October to early November.

I felt that the 1,500 yen ticket for adults was a bit too expensive. It’s actually a garden, but I expected it to be much larger. The main highlight was just the colorful roses. We visited in mid-May 2025, and by that time, about half of the flowers had already fallen. We spent less than an hour there since there wasn’t much to explore. On Google Maps, the ticket price was listed as 700 yen, which is why we decided to visit, but we were a bit disappointed. There’s a cafe inside the garden as well. For me, it’s more of a one-time visit. I don’t think I’d come back again.

Best garden for all girls. I've visited on Tuesday 22 July 2025 when it was not crowded and less people, so I could take a lot pics and enjoyed the garden😂🥰 I paid ¥700 that time. Still not sure how other people on other days paid for ¥1500, maybe also depends to the season/weekend as well. The garden is around the housing agent area. They also have a cafe inside the office house and a souvenir store. Garden is half-full bloomy on this summer, not as spring but you still can take a look of lot of roses and others. In summer it will be super super hot and make sure you bring lot of water + umbrella + sunscreen + bugs repellent. The garden also kids-friendly. Toilets are also available.

Yokohama English Garden is one of those rare places that feels like a peaceful pause from the noise of everyday life. Tucked away from the city rush, it’s not massive or flashy, but it’s quietly beautiful the kind of place where everything slows down, even your thoughts. The garden is thoughtfully laid out, with winding paths, seasonal flowers, and over 1,800 varieties of roses that bloom like something out of a storybook. The air in spring and early summer is sweet and floral, and even in the off-seasons, there’s something soothing about the well-kept greenery and changing colors. It doesn’t feel overly manicured or artificial it just feels calm. There’s a small café inside where you can sit with tea and look out at the blooms, and if you like photography or sketching, this place is a quiet dream. It's also surprisingly uncrowded on most weekdays, which adds to the charm. Yokohama English Garden isn’t a big tourist magnet, and that’s what makes it special. It feels personal like a garden that belongs to you, if only for an hour. If you’re in Yokohama and need a gentle reset, this is the place to go.

DON’T VISIT DURING RAINY SEASON I came to Japan in June for hydrangeas. That was the entire purpose of my seasonal travel - to experience these vibrant, rain-loving blooms at their peak. When I decided to visit Yokohama English Garden, I expected more than just hydrangeas. I came anticipating a garden that would cater to all flowers in season, not one still clinging to the memory of its rose display. Unfortunately, the garden is heavily rose-centric in both layout and identity. By late June, the roses had already faded, and what remained were rain-damaged petals and empty trellises. The once-famous Rose Tunnel had lost its magic, reduced to a quiet, green corridor with little life left. It was clear that May is this garden’s true highlight - and outside that, the experience tapers off significantly. Thankfully, the hydrangeas delivered. With nearly 300 varieties, they were vibrant, full-bodied, and thriving in the overcast, rainy weather. The colours - cool blues, deep purples, soft pinks - were deeply satisfying to witness. I came to Japan for these, and in that sense, Yokohama English Garden didn’t disappoint. But that one success wasn’t enough to overshadow what the rest of the garden lacked. For the entry price, which remains fairly high even outside peak season, the size of the garden and lack of variety in June left me underwhelmed. There weren’t enough companion plantings or seasonal transitions to make up for the absence of the roses. The on-site café and souvenir shop were also underwhelming. The floral-themed refreshments were visually charming but overpriced, and the flavour didn’t live up to the aesthetic. Similarly, the souvenirs leaned heavily into generic offerings, without much thoughtfulness or uniqueness behind the price tags. In short, while I don’t regret visiting - I got exactly what I came to Japan for: hydrangeas - I expected more from a garden with this level of branding and reputation. If you’re visiting in June, come for the hydrangeas alone and set your expectations accordingly.

Visited on June 2025. It was an amazing experience to see the hydrangea, roses and other flowers. Adult ticket was 1000 yen person. Recommended!

Nice exhibition of "Alice in wonderland" It was great fun to see the original sketches of Lewis Carroll in October 2019. In December they have another nice exhibition, "Mucha."

**** BE AWARE NO PHOTOS ALLOWED***** Currently hide expo . Tickets are 1700 yens .( a bit stiff for surch a tiny space ) you can walk through everything within a few minutes its not like a true museum ( unlike ueno) this is located inside a departement store on the 6th floor.they do have PAYING locker if you are carrying a big bag with you . I was super disappointed that 1 photo arent allow ( thats a shame really...) 2 tiny space 3 for the tax free its not instead they use global blue which i hate since they take a percentage 4 everything is written in japanese NO ENGLISH so if you dont speak japanese best of luck .... .the hide expo barely had any mention of x japan which was sad.it was mainly hide solo work .the costums , clothes and guitars were impressive . Same with the papers showing the proccess of how he wrote his lyrics .

No photos are allowed, but they give you a lanyard if you need to use your phone for translating things. I found this very thoughtful, that they considered foreigners. Today I saw the ukiyo-e cat exhibition, which was very interesting, and there was a lot more to it than I expected.

Good Museum with original art. Current exhibition is Alice in Wonderland. Short but good

You cannot take photos inside the museum but it was really nice that they offered me a badge 📛 saying that because I am a foreigner so I am allowed to use the translator app on my phone it is a really nice touch

This shopping mall is Gigantic. It is a monster of a Super Mall, but it has everything your looking for. Shopping. Food. Entertainment , electronics, even groceries. It is multi layers and has a huge selection. It can be a little overwhelming and is very crowded, so if your afraid of corona virus i suggest going on non busy hours, but i doubt it will never be not busy. I highly recommend it because its a great place to have a date and each lunch. I also recommend you know what you want before you go because it is massive and if you don't know what you want there is a lot to look at. Please like the review if you liked it. Enjoy the Super Mall。がんばろう❗

Very easy to get confused in the lower level because its connected with Yokohama station and Takashimaya department store. Once found the way to get up to the second level, finally can relax and enjoy the shopping. I found the cheaper ones were above 3F.

A couple of cruise options to Yokohama Station are also available from this waterfront. Also a good place to enjoy and participate in the events happening in the premises.

Akarenga Park in Yokohama is a delightful urban oasis that seamlessly blends historical charm with modern leisure. As a visitor with an affinity for both culture and relaxation, I found this park to be a true gem in the heart of the city. The park's centerpiece is the iconic Red Brick Warehouse, a remnant of Yokohama's rich maritime history. The historic architecture, coupled with the serene waterfront setting, creates a captivating ambiance that transports visitors back in time. The warehouse has been repurposed into a vibrant shopping and dining complex, adding a contemporary touch to the historical site. Strolling along the park's promenade, I was treated to stunning views of Yokohama Bay and the Yokohama Landmark Tower, adding to the picturesque allure of the location. Akarenga Park is a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a wide array of events and seasonal festivals throughout the year. The lively atmosphere, coupled with the lush greenery, provides a perfect setting for picnics and social gatherings. Train station
Shin-Yokohama Station is a major transportation hub in Yokohama, Japan, offering access to the Shinkansen bullet train network and long-distance coach terminals. It is a popular choice for travelers due to its connection to the Tokaido Bullet Trains and convenient direct bus options from both airports. The station provides helpful staff and clear English signage, making it easy for foreigners to navigate.
Multiple Train Lines pass through Shin Yokohama station. This includes JR Yokohama Line, Shinkansen, as well as Tōkyū & Sotetsu Lines and Municipal Subway. Please refer to the attached photos for information on transfers. The walk from the Subway to the Shinkansen can be long, so please have enough time.
Anwesh ପ — Google review
It is a big station in Yokohama that serves Shinkansen and can be reached under 30 minutes from Tokyo. It also serves many JR lines, and close to several major places in Yokohama, such as Nissan Stadium. The place is clean, huge, and quite spacious, but it has many sign that can be read clearly. It is also connected to other transportation modes such as buses.

Shin-Yokohama Station exceeded all my expectations! This transportation hub is exceptionally well-organized, making it easy to navigate through the bustling crowds. The cleanliness and efficiency of the station are commendable, ensuring a pleasant travel experience. Additionally, the availability of amenities like shops, restaurants, and rest areas adds convenience for travelers. The station's strategic location near major attractions makes it a perfect starting point for exploring the city. Overall, Shin-Yokohama Station sets a high standard for railway stations and earns my highest recommendation!

Unfriendly staff. I told them when I went to renew my commuter pass that the card wasn't working. Even though it was working as a regular suica pas I could not renew my pass. After the finally accept this, they told me I had to make a new card which I did. I then asked if I could return my old speaker and get the 500 yen deposit back and they told me I had to go to a large station such as Yokohama or shinjuk.... I asked them why this is necessary as it would cost me nearly the 500 yen to go to the stations just to get the deposit back. Completely unhelpful completely unsatisfactory service.

Between skyscrapers and stadium cheers, the Shinkansen glides in silence. Families on day trips, fans bound for concerts, all share this pause before the sea. Outside, ramen steam curls into sky — a scent of nostalgia and play. Tourist Tip: Gateway to Yokohama and Kanagawa attractions. Transfer to Yokohama City Subway Blue Line. Visit the Ramen Museum (10 min walk) or hop local trains to Minato Mirai.

Motomachi-Chukagai Station is a gateway to the vibrant and diverse neighborhood of Chinatown in Yokohama. Just a few minutes' walk from the station, this area offers an array of experiences, from shopping for souvenirs to savoring Chinese cuisine. However, it's not just limited to Chinese food; you can also find traditional dishes from various Asian countries like Korea, Vietnam, and Taiwan.
Lanterns sway in golden light, waves shimmer beyond rooftops. The air smells of sesame, incense, and salt. Motomachi-Chūkagai is the journey’s true exhale — a meeting of worlds, a harbor for the heart. Tourist Tip: Final stop. Walk through Yokohama Chinatown, Motomachi Shopping Street, and Yamashita Park. Stay for twilight — the harbor lights make every goodbye gentle.
