Barbecue restaurant
Midwood Smokehouse is a popular barbecue joint in Charlotte, with multiple locations across the area. The restaurant's Texas-style brisket and burnt ends are slow-smoked using hickory logs for 24 hours, ensuring tender and flavorful meat. Renowned for its casual roadhouse atmosphere, it offers a variety of regional BBQ specialties served on plates and sandwiches. The menu also features must-try sides like bacon-wrapped jalapenos, mac n cheese, and collard greens.
When a place is this crowded on Saturday afternoon, you know it’s gonna be good! Portion size is huge! Prices are reasonable and this staff is amazing! Ask for Avery. Definitely get the pimento cheese fries! Out of this world good. With brisket or BBQ it’s enough for a meal.
Ashley W — Google review
Midwood Smokehouse really delivers if you’re craving barbecue. The ribs had a perfect smoky bark and came off the bone just right. The pulled pork was tender and full of flavor without being covered up in sauce. The sides were just as good with collard greens that had a nice tang, hush puppies that were crisp on the outside and soft inside, and beans that were hearty and rich. The sauces were fun to try but the meat stood on its own. They also have a great beer selection which makes it an even better spot to hang out. Portions are generous, the service is friendly, and it all feels like classic barbecue done right. I’ll definitely be back.
David B — Google review
Solid place to eat BBQ. I grew up in Kansas City, so I have an extremely high bar when it comes to BBQ. Midwood had absolutely INCREDIBLE pulled pork. While their sauces weren't my favorite (probably more to do with regional-preference than anything else), I did really enjoy the ribs and they were flavorful enough that you didn't really need sauce anyway. Would recommend Midwood!
Joseph P — Google review
service was great, their beer selection was pretty good especially for a bbq place. was in town and was craving some nice southern bbq, we really liked the hush puppies, bacon wrapped jalapeños and the ribs and sides. we came towards the tail end of them closing and were not sure if that’s why the rest of our meats were not as up to par. the service was great and the banana pudding at end made up for that
Thunder — Google review
I appreciated that people were waiting to get seated at Midwood. That let me know that the BBQ was going to be good. The wait was not long (~20 mins) on July 4th. The staff provided recommendations if you are trying to figure out what to eat. The food service is pretty quick too. I ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers! The cornbread was flavorful and seasoned (8.5/10). The wings were delicious (9/10). I recommend getting the crispy (fried) wings. Lastly, the nachos were a hit too (7.5/10). The portion sizes were great for sharing.
Ayana A — Google review
Was searching for a good burger near downtown and heard great things about this place. I ordered the Roadhouse burger and unfortunately the burger was dry and not med well and the tomato and lettuce was definitely old at 7pm. Soo disappointed. The banana pudding was great this the star.
Jewel M — Google review
Overall a very nice place for some BBQ. Would strongly recommend the brisket as it was moist and lean! It was really really good! As for the sides nothing crazy would recommend some different sides. But man the banana pudding, was sweet and a delicious dessert!
EsS R — Google review
I was visiting the Charlotte Area for a doctors appointment with me coming from VA. I have traveled through NC and never had the opportunity to try BBQ. So Tuesday I stumbled upon this restaurant and happy that I did! I couldn’t decide what I wanted to eat and the waitress suggested this $45 platter I believe it was. The platter I ordered came with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, 2 sides, house pickles, and hush puppies. Man it was more than enough to share because man I couldn’t eat that by myself. The brisket was nicely seasoned, moist, and had a great bark, ribs were fall off the bone tender, and the pork was nicely seasoned as well. The greens and mac n chz were both good. My only suggestion would be to have more sauces like a mustard base( if they had it, it wasn’t offered ) a sweeter BBQ sauce with brown sugar based or molasses, as the BBQ sauce that I was given was more on the tangier side. Outside of that I will most definitely be back when I come to my next appointment next month!

Bobbee O's BBQ is a family-owned, counter-service restaurant that has been serving up a variety of barbecued meats and classic side dishes since 2008. The menu features fork-tender slow smoked meats like pulled pork and ribs, along with soulful sides such as baked mac n cheese and candied yams.
Was in Charlotte for a motorcycle event , this place happened to be right next to the hotel . Looked at the menu & I was intrigued . Walked in & ordered , cashier was very friendly & our food came out quick. Started eating my ribs , they fell right off the bone!! Sauce was so good & they were juicy. Got a side of baked beans & fries & both were good as well. Also my first time trying a cheer wine since I’m from NY. I was satisfied & I was satisfied by the whole place. Next time I’m down here I’m going back . No complaints
Ivan M — Google review
Very over cooked meat and the sauce was ok but the texture of the meat was really bad. If the brisket is cooked good it doesn’t need so much sauce. The corn bread was super dry. The only thing good was the mac and cheese.
Ashley F — Google review
Got a pulled chicken plate with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The chicken was a little dry, the collard greens were awesome, but that macaroni.. Tasted and smelt horrible. Like it was a couple days old and just stuck together.
B1kRain — Google review
The food was excellent and very fresh! What really stood out was the lady at the counter she was absolutely amazing. She took her time to interact with me and made sure to explain everything clearly. Her friendliness and customer service made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back!
J S — Google review
Ordered the Sampler platter. 4 meats and 4 sides. Got the Ribs, the brisket, pulled pork and tips for the meat and collard greens, cabbage, corn on the cob and Onion rings for the sides. The ribs were good. Fall of the bone and the fat was rendered well. Good flavor with the sauce, it was a nice compliment. The brisket was ok. A little dry and lacking in flavor. It came smothered in house sauce and we felt it was on there to cover the lack of flavor. The pulled pork was the the best. It was juicy with each bite and had a bit of a kick at the end. The last meat was a rib meat. It was meh. It didn't really have any flavor. Just Meh. The collard greens are on point. 10-10 would recommend. The onion rings and corn on the cob are mushy and tasted like they were frozen. The cabbage was just there. It was cooked right and al dente but I really didn't taste any flavor, Overall for $45 plus tip and tax it was a disappointment.

From the moment you walk in the door you feel welcomed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place was clean and the music was a vibe. The pulled pork and potato salad was really good but the collard greens were delicious!! Chef’s kiss! I will definitely try Bobbee’s again.

Very friendly people! The food was excellent and the lady let me sample before I bought! I enjoyed will be coming back!

Come on Bobbee, this is the first time I've had a burger and it WASN'T good at all. I usually get the ribs with that good sauce or hotdogs. Even the hush puppies were hard and taste bad. Prices to high to be serving bad food.... SMH

Mac's Speed Shop is a beloved local restaurant and bar chain that brings the flavors of Southern cuisine to life. With locations in South End, Steele Creek, Matthews, and Cornelius, this eatery is known for its smoky pulled pork and dry-rubbed beef brisket. The atmosphere has a friendly biker-bar vibe that welcomes everyone—whether you're a motorcycle enthusiast or just looking for great food.
I went here on a recommendation and it didn't miss. The staff made great suggestions on menu items, and the service was outstanding. First time trying fried Okra. It was a 10/10. The ribs and mac and cheese were good as well. I could have used a little more flavor on the texas toast, but I didn't go there for toast. I would also recommend the deviled eggs and the pecan pie was good enough to buy a whole one and fly it back home on the plane.

Diana was our bartender and waitress, who made a pretty darn Good bloody, Mary. Also, some awesome food at this place. The burnt ends are to die for macaroni and cheese was crazy good. The Mac bowl I loved my wife loved her prosecco, mixed with orange juice and also the fried pickles on the fried pickles on the top of The brisket folded over with celery and an Olive made to perfection. What's fantastic? We will be back. Macs speed shop was an old biker bar,, The Bar turned into barbecue joint, and they did it just right indoor outdoor seating. Great 5 good food, reasonably priced awesome drinks. Thanks again, Diana You're awesome. 👀WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS MY FRIEND

After visiting the aviation museum, we decided to come here. We were pleasantly surprised by the lack of a wait. The ambiance was beautifully eclectic and tasteful. The food was absolutely wonderful! Our only concern was the temperature; everything appeared to be at room temperature rather than warm.

The food here was amazing! We stopped here on our trip to Charlotte for the Panthers-Bills game, and it did not disappoint! Best fried pickles we've ever had. Great chicken and waffles. Mac and cheese to die for! Drinks were refreshing! Also tried all four of their sauces, and they were fantastic! This place had dog-friendly outside seating which was also great for our group. Next time I make it down here, I'll want to stop by! This was a very affordable place too for our group size!

Noble Smoke is a spacious BBQ restaurant with an industrial-style setting that serves up hickory-smoked meats and comforting sides. The brainchild of seasoned restaurateur Jim Noble, this establishment has been a dream in the making for over 25 years. Housed in a former truck maintenance facility on Freedom Drive, it pays homage to pitmaster legends and the love of smoked meat that inspired Noble. One of its standout dishes is the Chopped Cheshire pork with western or eastern slaw.
Im not a huge fan of BBQ places, but my coworker was wanting BBQ so we looked for a place close enough to the airport. First the place looks great. Very clean and nice decor. The smell was unbelievably good. It is a huge place with different seating areas even for private events. Staff is great. Very attentive, professional and knowledgeable of the meats, the cooking process and the history of the place. The food is so tasty and very appealing. We had onion rings, hush poppies, brisket, and smoke wings. Everything was so good specially the brisket and wings. So flavorful and tender you don't even need any sauces. Which by the way are really good as well. After your meal you can ask the server to get you a tour of their smokers area which is impressive. They will show you the process of smoking the meats. I was really impressed with this place and i would recommend it to anyone looking for a BBQ place near Charlotte airport or downtown.

When my son visits from Buffalo he wants to go to Noble Smoke and always takes pounds of BBQ back. Everything on the menu is superb and shareable. Great selection of cocktails and craft beer. Live music on patio. A bit pricey but well worth it!
Maureen D — Google review
I stopped by Noble Smoke after work to try their barbecue and got the quarter brisket with mac & cheese and fried okra. The brisket was good - tender and rich - but it felt like it was missing a little depth of flavor. I’m not sure if it was the seasoning or something else, but it was just shy of being really great. The Lex sauce, though, was my favorite part and added a nice kick to everything. The fried okra was good too! I just wish it had been cut into smaller pieces instead of full okra pods, but the aioli that came with it was a nice touch. The mac & cheese was my least favorite part - not bad, just kind of plain. It had some Panko crumbs and herbs on top, but it could’ve used a bit more flavor. Overall, still a solid meal. The brisket and okra were definitely worth trying, and I’d come back to check out a few other menu items.
Amanda D — Google review
Visited on a Sunday evening in late October. No reservation required. Lots of free parking. Excellent service. Menu is extensive and they have a specials board too. The meat was delicious, and the sides generous in portion side Austin, our server, was most helpful in explaining it all to us and helping us make a selection. We will revisit if ever back here.
Paul B — Google review
First time at NS. I had the brisket and turkey, both excellent with the bbq sauce. The Brussel sprouts were great! Dined outside and the service was top notch and quick. Lots on tap too!
Jason M — Google review
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Service was super fast! My fav was the hush puppies, cheshire pork, and smoke sauce. Oh and of course the brussel sprouts… and the star of the show for us was the heath banana pudding! So delicious.

This one is a very special review for me so it will be a little long. We decided to make a road trip all the way to New Orleans from New York and our main goal was to try bunch of bbq places on our way. In total we tried 6 different places and one of them was belong to a so-called pit master. Few were ok, the one belong to a pit master was a total disaster and our bbq trip was turning into a disappointment. On our way back from New Orleans to New York we decided to stay in Charlotte. We were looking for somewhere to eat and we found Noble Smoke. We said “ok, let’s give one more chance to our bbq trip maybe this time it will be as what we expected”. It was. We were speechless. How every single thing we tried could be that good?! From brisket to fried okra, EVERY. SINGLE. THING. WAS. AMAZING!! We got brisket, ribs, okra, pickles, mac&cheese, onion rings and wings. Sides portions were very generous. You guys saved our bbq trip for sure. We were so happy. We will always remember your place as “THE BEST BBQ PLACE”. Turns out, you don’t need to drive all the way to mid-US to experience a very good bbq. You can basically just go to Charlotte.

Sweet Lew’s BBQ is a cozy spot located in Charlotte's Belmont neighborhood, offering a taste of authentic Carolina barbecue. The 450-square-foot smoke shack, once a service station, now serves up wood-smoked BBQ meats such as ribs and fried chicken. Owned by Lewis Donald and Laura Furman Grice, the restaurant aims to recreate the ambiance of small Southern barbecue joints found along country roads. The menu is straightforward with meats, sides, drinks, and desserts available.
In Belmont, a neighborhood in East Charlotte, I had the pleasure of dining at Sweet Lew's BBQ. The staff exhibited exceptional hospitality, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant operates on a service model where orders are placed at a counter and subsequently delivered to customers, with options for both indoor and outdoor seating. My meal consisted of the two-meat dinner, featuring a half chicken and pulled pork, accompanied by baked macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and an additional serving of potato salad. The quality of the food was outstanding, arguably the best barbecue I have tasted in Charlotte, with particular note given to the exceptional hushpuppies. While the barbecue sauces, of which there are approximately five, did not entirely meet my expectations—specifically the mustard-based and vinegar-based varieties—the inherent flavors of the dishes were so robust that the sauces were ultimately unnecessary. Overall, the dining experience was truly remarkable.
Snow — Google review
What I pictured Carolina bbq to be. Let’s start with the staff they were wonderful. Angela was attentive, upbeat and sweet. The portions were beyond generous. The brisket must’ve been almost a 3” thick piece, the ribs were massive St. Louis ribs. The ribs were tender, fall off that bone, but lacked that bbq flavor. The red slaw is on point delicious, on the sweet side very refreshing. The potato salad was great, had a nice blend of salt and pepper. Hush puppies, I have never been a fan but these have changed my mind. They crunch outside and sweet moist corn breading inside. Whoa! Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Lonny L — Google review
Sweet Lew’s is hands down and I’ll die on this hill the best BBQ in Charlotte! Every single thing was cooked to absolute perfection. The ribs were Flintstone-sized, the fried flounder literally melted in my mouth no sauces or condiments needed. And trust me, I’m the queen of tartar sauce and hot sauce when it comes to a fish fry, so that says a lot! The mac and cheese tasted like family cookout comfort food creamy, cheesy, and unforgettable. The collard greens? Spot on. The potato salad was good, but not a standout I’d go for the greens every time. Overall, this place is an easy 10/10. After living in North Carolina for 9 years, this is by far the best I’ve had. If I could eat here every day, I would.
Rachael H — Google review
Went with the two-meat platter and two sides. The brisket was fantastic — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The sausage was decent, while the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and perfectly baked with that classic Southern comfort taste. The coleslaw was excellent too, with just the right balance of creaminess. All the sauces were tasty as well.
Glenn G — Google review
This is such a cute place. I think we found this restaurant from social media. Today we decided to give it a try! OMG, the food was delish. I was worried because a few reviews stated that the food was dry, but that was not the case. I had the chicken and pork plate and everything was amazing. Hubby had chicken and sausage and it was also amazing. They have a bunch of different sauces for your meal. The ladies taking the orders were super kind and we asked about a Military discount and they said they do honor that. Wow, now this is a restaurant that we will come back again. The food, service and honoring Veterans is our type of place.
Robin F — Google review
My first time, everything was delicious. Such a large portion of brisket, which was super flavorful and tender, and the sides were just so good. Can't wait to go back! Thanks also to Offline for encouraging me try new places I've been wanting to for a while
Dina B — Google review
This place is very underrated. They have a parking lot and outdoor and indoor seating. TVs, napkin and sauce caddies for the tables and an incredible staff. Everybody was so welcoming and nice. They even gave me a free side of sausage because they had extra. Plus on Fridays they have FREE BEER. Stick to the basics: ribs, brisket, sausage, Mac and cheese, hush puppies (included w a platter), Cole slaw. Super good food, even better people. Can’t wait to come back.
Jackson L — Google review
Delicious bbq in Charlotte, NC with a very nice authentic Easter style pulled pork (vinegar, brown sugar, Pete’s hot sauce). Cole slaw was bbq - pretty good - but it’s nice to have a creamy slaw with eastern bbq. Seating is homey neighborhood atmosphere both inside and outside the restaurant. Prices aren’t bad and portions are quite large. Complementary hush puppy’s added in were tasty. Always fun to taste some cheer wine cola as well. Collared greens were tasty - sides are served heavy. Parking in the street didn’t look bad at all. Consensus food was great - and a bit heavy - but you are there for bbq.

This historic hole-in-the-wall eatery offers hickory-smoked barbecue plates and sandwiches, as well as fried chicken, po' boys, burgers, and more. Featured on Guy Fieri's 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,' the restaurant is known for its house-made sauce and crispy onion rings.
We have been dying to try this place since we saw it on DDD, and never seem to be in town when it’s open. We finally got to it today and it didn’t disappoint. The service (especially David, who has been there 41 years) was fast and friendly and quick to show up to help with pictures and to show me around the kitchen. Although the outside drive in area is looking a little rough around the edges these days, the kitchen is super clean and they do not mind having you in there. The food was fantastic. So glad we finally got to try this awesome restaurant.

I love old school drive in restaurants no matter where they are. I like everything about this place especially the service where they walk to your car and take your order. I got the chicken and pork combo. The food was okay. Ian not a fan of vinegar based BBQ. I definitely want to try the burgers next.

My husband and I had not been to this drive in restaurant in around a 8 months. The food was nothing like it used to be to be. We both had Fish & shrimp…both was soft on the inside as if it was on the verge of being spoiled. Once, we begin to eat, we stopped eating and told the person who brought the food. We wasn’t offered something else. The tea / lemonade tasted like water. We will never return.. Disappointed!!!!

Everything was perfect! Antoine was a great server, nice, accommodating, and seeming down to earth. Food was great; hot, crispy, and flavorful! I’ll probably ask for salt on the side next time because fries needed them. Atmosphere was great because I love a good historic/cultured place to eat. Thank you guys!

Sorry but for a place in some best of lists just missed for me. 5 mins into my drive back to Lewisville my chicken was already getting cold. Sauce is deep in the skin but doesnt seem to linger into the meat as much as Id hoped. Good food just not what I was hoping for

While traveling, we stopped here to try Carolina BBQ and were very impressed. The servings were generous and the flavors were amazing. Service was excellent, as well.

I ordered the pork BBQ platter with Mac and cheese and sauteed green beans. My son ordered the wings and fries off the kids menu. I ordered an old fashioned that was just okay. Food cam out in good time and had good flavor. There is a vinegar sauce and BBq sauce on the table that go together really well with the pork. My wife, son and I all has the peanut butter pie which was excellent.

This is an absolute MUST TRY. Friend & I visited from Houston / South Carolina and were delighted. The flavor, the friendly staff, the music! Everything was so inviting and delicious. For all my fellow Mac n’ cheese lovers - this one is heavenly. It’s no wonder they’re almost 19 years and counting

Decided to try this BBQ place, the decor looks good. I was seated inside and took a while for the waitress to take my order, she kept walking by with one excuse after another why she didn’t take my order. When she did stop to take my order, I started telling her what I wanted and she interrupted me to tell me she forgot her pen and left again. When she came back, I had to start over. I ordered a beer and it was room temperature. For the meal, I ordered the small pork plate with fried okra and the green beans. When the meal arrived, the pork was so watered down the bowls with the okra and beans were sitting in it and I had to send it back for a different plate of pork. That time it wasn’t watered down. I mentioned to one of the employees and was told it was a sauce in the pork. The BBQ sauces were ok, one tasted like fancy ketchup. I know from experience that some restaurants water down the meat when it has been cooked several day before to try to moisten it up, plus the pork had a somewhat smoke flavor but no real flavor like a rub. You can see from the pictures of what I’m talking about. All and all, the green beans were the best out of the whole meal. If you plan to visit the restaurant, call ahead to find out what days they are smoking the pork and go that day, I’m sure the flavor will be better than days of old BBQ. I gave them two stars for the green beans, the rest I would give one star.

More like a 3.5 star rating. I got Teriyaki wings and asked the server if I should get them double grilled for a little char. She said yes, so I did. They were way overly charred, almost completely burned. Any sauce with a lot of sugar like Teriyaki or bbq should never be ordered double grilled, bc it'll burn. I wish the server had known this, but it is what it is. My bbq sandwich was pretty good. Heavy smoke flavor. I would definitely eat here again. I'll probably sample something else though. The service was good and the manager was attentive.

Haley was an excellent waitress. took my order and checked on me throughout the meal. the double grilled chicken wings were amazing. just the right amount of crisp without being over cooked. the fried squash was great. never had that before. the roast beef and ribs were very good. I personally didnt enjoy the pulled pork or chicken quarter but everybody’s bbq preference will be different.

OMG!! The food & service was amazing! The Calypso wings are so juicy & delicious. You can tell they were smoked bc that smoke taste is in them. The BBQ sandwich w Cole slow on top was delicious & the fried okra was yummy as well. I'm from Augusta GA & recommended everyone to come check out McKoys you won't be disappointed

The bbq sandwich was pretty good imo. It wasn’t like a bbq chicken sandwich I had before but oh man was it packed with chicken. As you can see, when I picked it up there was so much it fell out. I love places that aren’t afraid to give you good portions. I enjoyed the green beans but not so much the cornbread. Only because I don’t like cheese in mine other than that it was fine. There was a drink I had (forgot the name) and it was DELICIOUS.

Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q is a laid-back chain that originated in Birmingham, Alabama when father-son duo Jim and Nick Pihakis transformed an old pizza parlor into a BBQ joint. With 34 locations across seven states, they specialize in slow-cooked BBQ meats like pulled pork, chicken, beef brisket, turkey breast, hotlinks and baby back ribs.
Updated: I ended up with food poisoning a few hours after leaving. I was the only one who ate brisket, and the only one that got sick. So we are digging into that. Alot of reviews I've came across also contracted food poisoning after eating the brisket. Which is really upsetting because everything was so good. Marissa was our server, and she was a delight! So informative and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. She answered questions before we had the chance to ask! The food came out in about 10 mins and was fabulous. 10 out of 10 recommended!!!

The staff were very friendly and catered to us professionally. They made sure that we were taken care of. The food was tasty and rich, but I wish it were heated up just a tad more. The Mac and cheese, for example, had more of a slightly tough doughy appeal versus the standard creamy style they generally present to me. Nonetheless, it was still delicious and flavorful. Tenders were crispy, too. The tender, Mac, and fries combo is a go-to and recommend for an entry-level starter entree meal. Add some honey mustard and ranch for some additional tastes 😋

The food used to be pretty good here but guess that's changed. I ordered the pulled pork plate as a to go order. I got home and opened the box. Found what seems to be parchment paper I guess mixed in with my bbq. Tried calling to speak with a manager but no one ever came to the phone. Also, the bread seemed a bit stale. The bottom was soft and the tops where hard and crunchy. Haven't been here in a couple of years but I'm very disappointed with my food this time around. The person at the drive thru was nice and the side were hot though....

We had food catered from this company and the food was delicious. The BBQ chicken was juicy and tender. The sauce was a little sweet with a hint of spice. The beans were also a little sweet for my taste but still very delicious. My family truly enjoyed it. Thank you Jim 'N Nick's. To be honest I'm not sure which location catered it. Either way the food was great. My photo doesn't do any justice. I would definitely recommend eating at Jim 'N Nick's.

Let's start off with the greeting from the hostess. She was very welcoming with a great personality. I believe our waitress said she was her Manager. Our waitress Marissa is one of the best waitresses I have come across. From the time we sat down until we left. Her customer service was 10/10. She engaged with my six year old daughter. Even when she was being extra talkative. She still engaged with her every time. To the point where my daughter loved talking to her every time she came to the table and walked by. She laughed and joked with her. Her conversations with my mom and I were super genuine. She took our order in a timely manner. She gave us updates while waiting for our meal. She checked on us throughout our meal. Gave us our drink refills in a timely manner. We didn't have to ask her for anything or wave her down. She was on top of it. She has the perfect personality and pays attention to her customer's. I also observed that she was the same with other customer's as well. She has the charisma to Intertwine and comfortability to talk to customer's and not at them. She cares about her customer's. She's an asset to your team. Not only will customers want to come back for your AMAZING FOOD, but for great customer service. Marissa thanks so much! From your new friends from Fayetteville.

If you're on the hunt for a true taste of Southern barbecue, look no further than Sauceman's in Charlotte. This no-frills eatery specializes in Lexington-style BBQ, where pork is smoked to perfection for over 12 hours using a blend of local hickory and white oak wood. The menu features mouthwatering options like their classic pulled pork sandwich served on thick Texas toast and the crowd-pleasing Dixie Cuban topped with pimento cheese and fried pickles.
Was in town a few years ago on a work trip and was told I HAD to check out Sauceman's for Charlotte BBQ. Went with the standard brisket and pulled pork with the BBQ beans and fried corn and, because it was a surprise, the hush puppies. Everything was outstanding! Coming from West Texas, I like to think I've got a good gauge on BBQ and Sauceman's rated among the best I've tasted. Every element was great, the proteins carried outstanding smoke flavors and the textures were spot on. The sides were all among the best I've ever had. The fired corn was delicious and the texture was an added bonus, genius! The hush puppies and beans were spot on, texturally and with the flavors. I could not have been more happy with my Charlotte BQ experience on my day trip into the city.

A great spot for lunch, all the food an sides were amazing. I really enjoyed the 3 different sauces they had to offer, the mustard sauce was my favorite. I would make sure to hit this place for lunch if you're in the area.
Josh M — Google review
They made some subtle changes since I was here last, but they made a huge difference. I would now rank this as my second favorite BBQ in Charlotte (Midwood Smokehouse being first). It’s way better than Mac’s Speedshop now. The decor of the restaurant changed a little and it’s really well done now. There’s a lot of wood incorporated and a garage door leading out to the patio. They added sauce options so now you have the choice between vinegar, mustard, and smokey bbq sauces. The vinegar and mustard were my favorite, but the smokey was also good. They also have complimentary pork skins now which were very good. We got the South End Combo with pulled pork, brisket, chicken, mac and cheese, and baked beans. I think the brisket was the best I’ve ever had. It had a really tastey char around the edge. The pulled pork was also very good. The chicken was my least favorite. The outside was good (a little spicy), but the inside was a little dry. The hush puppies are now my favorite in Charlotte (since Mac’s change their recipe). We finished up with the sugar biscuits which were very good - light, sugar coated, donut like balls. This is a must try restaurant in Charlotte that I highly recommend!

Easy to find, nice and clean. Music was ok but needs more variety. Brisket was great sauce variety was good. Chicken is tender and delicious. Alittle to much spice on chicken. Ribs ok, I must of had a end piece, but it was good. The sides were great potatoe salad, collard greens, mac-n-cheese . Ooh I forgot about the pull pork nice. Overall it was a good idea to stop by the Sauceman's. 😁

Dear 8lb 6 oz Baby Jesus take the Fork ! This is the BEST food I have ate while in town working and I have ate everywhere. It may be my new favorite BBQ spot in all of North Carolina its def a top 3. Everything was FRESH... HOT and exactly as I ordered. The Pork was excellent the Chicken was super moist and the hushpuppies are out of this world good and my server Nicole was GREAT! I hate we got yalls streets blocked trimming powerlines and its a pain in the ass but Im so glad we came to this town and hope were in the area in the near future because I know where I will be having lunch every day they are open. Yall are Killin It !!! Keep up the Great Work. (Sry no pic of the huspuppies) my tongue was beating my lips to death for more til they were gone.

This place is a JOKE. Nothing is fresh. The fries are frozen, their mashed potatoes are from a box, and they sell you the DRIEST barbecued pork in the state of North Carolina. It looked undercooked - it had these gross bright red spots throughout. Praying we don’t get food poisoning… the food was so bland and greasy. Ended up paying over $30 for two people and left most of the food uneaten. Service was nice, but that’s the only positive. Stay far far away.

Atmosphere and service were great, the food unfortunately did not match their quality. The A/C was on full blast when we came in and we were sat right under the fan, which wasn’t great but it didn’t impact the experience too much. The barbecue was flavorless, beyond pepper and cayenne. We drowned it in the provided bbq sauces and even that couldn’t save it. The onion rings appeared homemade, but the battered coating was not good (as reported to me by the gf). The fries, mustard slaw, and Mac n cheese were good. Looks are deceiving, at least. I barely finished my plate and she got 75% through hers, it was a lot of food.

If you're on the hunt for mouthwatering barbecue in Charlotte, look no further than City Barbeque. This beloved counter-serve smokehouse chain has been delighting diners since 1999 with its expertly smoked meats, crafted using hickory wood and a meticulous low-and-slow cooking method that creates a deliciously crispy bark. The menu is a true celebration of regional barbecue styles, featuring sauces from five different states—each bringing its own unique flavor profile to the table.
I'm from Texas and love great BBQ. So we went to City BBQ and was excited for some NC BBQ. I ordered the half chicken and a potato salad and my wife had the brisket. The chicken was perfect and full of smokey flavor, but the Texan in me was not to impressed with the brisket. They don't spice it up or put a rub on it and it is overcooked. But the rest was spot on and I loved the chicken and will be going back...

Terrible food, and even worse service. This is the second time I have had a poor experience here in a week. I arrived today to pick my order up at 5PM, and they didn't have it ready until 5:35. Customer service is non-existent, as the employees didn't even acknowledge any of the dine-in or to-go customers for a good 15-20 minutes after I arrived. They also are ALWAYS out of at least 2-3 types of meat. I'm not sure how this happens at a chain BBQ restaurant during the weekends, which should be when they have the most business. Finally, the messed up my order - forgetting multiple items, burning our hushpuppies, and even worse, gave us raw, undercooked chicken in our to-go order. Please see the picture below. Would you trust a chef/restaurant who thinks this is passable food to serve a customer? I will never come back here.

Good food but a bit pricey. For the Mac and cheese, fries and a drink 7.99. Luckily I had a promo on the app for a quarter sandwich. But I guess it is the times we live in just like every other place costs about 10 bucks to eat out. I ordered the same thing last Friday 6/13/2025. Although the 2 sides and a drink have gone down to 6.99 the price increase for the pork sandwich went up. This time the total price was over 11 dollars.

Decent staff. Decent sides. Sweet tea and lemonade not so good. The Corn Pudding is always good! Please stop giving people dried out Brisket! You shouldn't punish your customers with dry brisket. This is the second time I've had to go back up to the counter and ask for new brisket. The place wasn't really clean today. The sauces were empty and there were no forks at the counter near the sauces. It wasn't crowded so I'm not sure what the problem was with the cleanliness. I'm sure you guys can get better because I've seen better at your location. Oh, and the banana pudding is always delicious.

Nestled in the heart of Charlotte, Queen City Q is a must-visit for barbecue enthusiasts seeking an authentic taste of North and South Carolina-style BBQ. This vibrant eatery has been delighting locals since 2012 with its mouthwatering selection of smoked meats, including tender pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chicken, and sausage. The casual atmosphere features high ceilings that create a welcoming space to enjoy your meal alongside an impressive array of bottled and draft beers.
Very friendly workers here. Clean restaurant and very convenient to the light rail station. Also close to the spectrum center. Hamburger was very good and was cooked to order. Waitress was a little overworked but was able to take care of us in a satisfying manner. Haven't tried the barbecue yet, but I'm sure I will very soon. Don't think you will be disappointed eating here.

It was different from Kansas City BBQ, but the meat was nice and tender and they had 5 different sauces. The deviled eggs were great, and the cheesy corm was awesome. In addition, they had a lot of local beers to choose from

Smoked meats, definitely good. Mac n cheese definitely good, Corn machiue definitely good. Barbecue sauces are flavorful but very watery and don't stick to the meat. Prices are high and they don't put enough food on your plate.......two small spoons of mac n cheese and corn in these tiny white glass dishes. Will return as a once in a while treat but not often.

Great casual BBQ spot, ample seating in a laid back environment. The pulled pork sandwich was good, pork was well cooked (tender) but could use a little flavour/seasoning, buns were soft; fries & slaw were great. As for drinks, the QRITA was absolutely amazing, would definitely recommend!

Good not great bbq good service. They do validate parking. I went there with my family and friends. Beef brisket and Mac and cheese both good. Expensive. My wife’s brisket and ribs was not so hot. The hush puppies tasted like grease. She only liked the Mac and cheese. Expensive!

I decided to try Queen City Q during dollarfest. It's on the other side of uptown from where I work, but I have been wanting to try their barbecue. My to-go order was ready as soon as I walked in. No waiting at all. It was still hot and fresh. I ordered the BBQ Sandwich with a side of Mac n Cheese. The sandwich was very good and what I expected for pulled-pork. The Mac n cheese was just as good as the sandwich. I didn't have time to really give the place a look-over, but as a to-go service, I was impressed. The orders we all together at the front and very organized and labeled. I would highly recommend this place if you want to place a to-go order and don't want any hassle.
Johnny B — Google review
The pulled pork was excellent, however I found the sauce a bit too varied. Some of it may be my preference on BBQ places to stick with a particular sauce but I think too many sauces distracts from the quality of the meat itself. Service was great, and the portions were an excellent amount. I appreciate when restaurants don't skimp, but don't overload. It's a good balance Queen City Q accomplished. One thought to the restaurant on the sauces. Though they were excellent, I found it difficult to try the different ones while keeping the sandwich intact. Makes me think people may try one or two, then not want to keep trying at the risk of losing their sandwich. Perhaps have the sandwich buns connected at one end instead? Might make things easier.
Alex B — Google review
It's a nice spot. Free parking before 5 in the parking deck right past their entrance. Didn't know that until after we parked down the road. Now the food... I'm super critical about hush puppies do allow me to say they have some of the best around! Pass on the Mac n cheese (lacking in the cheese department). Me and the wife Ordered the 2 meats course. We combination of 3. The pork had good taste but texture was somewhat dry. Not only in your mouth but it looked somewhat stale. Nothing the sauce could liven up tho. Which brings me to the second part, the sauce. Three main sauces, Lexington, Eastern, and their signature. Each were vinegar base and honestly after a few bites, they started tasting similarly. They had a rib sauce which was basically the same but with a tangy and thicker base. Not bad but nothing to speak on. The brisket was disappointing but honestly it was more because of how I like my brisket opposed to how they cooked it. Delicious smoky flavor, nice crispy charred touches, and a tolerable bite texture. BUT, it seemed like they precut the slices and recooked it. Also they added a sweet sauce to their brisket. Big no no for me. Ribs - St louis style thicker ribs. Nicely basted. Easy pull away bite but not fall off the bone with a nice chew texture. BUT, meat was somewhat dry and not as tender and juicy. Food was great and portions were generous but it left me wanting. Customer service was great by the way. Cool staff!!

I tried the potato salad, it looked great but was missing something. The Cole slaw was also not my personal fave. However, that banana pudding was the old fashioned way. It unlocked childhood memories like none other. Can you tell I had a blast?! Family there is nothing like great food and excellent hospitality. Go ahead and treat yourself!! You won’t leave the same in Jesus name.

Our visit to Jim 'N Nick's was a perfect example of how exceptional customer service can elevate an entire dining experience. After what had been a long day with a few unexpected hiccups, we arrived hoping for a good meal to turn things around. We found far more than that, thanks in large part to Christine. Christine was truly a standout. From the moment she began serving us, it was clear she was dedicated to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. She didn't just meet our expectations; she exceeded them, anticipating our needs and going above and beyond to make sure we "had everything we had and more." Her attentive and proactive approach made us feel genuinely cared for, and she literally "waited on us hand and foot." This level of personalized care transformed our evening, making us forget the earlier mishaps and truly enjoy the moment. Beyond the stellar service, the food itself was equally exceptional. Every dish we tried was delicious and clearly prepared with care, reinforcing the positive impression left by Christine. The combination of incredible service and outstanding food created a truly memorable experience. We were so impressed that we would definitely come back to Jim 'N Nick's. It's rare to find a place where both the culinary offerings and the human element of service are so perfectly aligned, making for a genuinely delightful outing.

I tried the chicken plates today with corn on the cob and coleslaw. The chicken was the best I ever had! It was perfectly cooked, plump, moist, and delicious! The coleslaw was firm and crunchy, but a bit too peppery for my taste. The corn was cooked perfectly as well and sweet! My friend had a salad, what can anyone say about that? It was a side salad. He also had a turkey sandwich, which was delicious. We Ubered our meal, so I can not comment about the atmosphere or the staff. Our meal was packaged well.

Good atmosphere but poor service and they were running out of food! The server didn't provide us any updates that the kitchen was running behind and asked if the the host shared with us as at seating time that there's a wait on food. The host didn't share that with us and is that the host or servers responsibility? We had to ask for our server because food was taking too long and she didn't check in on us after drinks and appetizers were received. We didn't get our food until an hour after we were seated. Also, we ordered 2 brisket plates. One came out normal and the other one didnt. The server didnt apologize for the weird, dry brisket end piece and tried to say it was marbled but it clearly wasn't. The server took no ownership and didnt apologize for the delay or the dry shreded like brisket. I don't not recommend this place and won't be going back.

Food was delicious and service was excellent! We had brisket, pulled pork sandwich, and kids chicken tenders plate. All were served fresh and hot and tasted great. The baked beans and macaroni and cheese were also very good! I appreciated that they had a kids menu with good options and reasonable prices. Gloria was our waitress and she was very attentive and friendly. Will be back and highly recommend!

Hands-down one of the best BBQ spots around! Jim ‘N Nick’s in Concord never disappoints. The food is always hot, fresh, and full of flavor—especially the pulled pork and the brisket, which are tender and perfectly smoked. The sides are just as good (those cheese biscuits are dangerously addictive), and the service is consistently friendly and fast. A special shoutout to Gloria, our server—she was absolutely fantastic! Friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests and takes pride in what she does. Clean restaurant, great atmosphere, and top-notch staff. Definitely my go-to BBQ joint in the area. Highly recommend!

This is a very nice place with consistently great service. I absolutely love their baked beans, but I’m not a fan of the mac & cheese—it just doesn’t suit my taste, though I notice plenty of other people enjoy it, so that may just be me. One thing you can always count on here is excellent customer service. I’ve been at least 15 times and never had a bad experience. The one time my to-go order was wrong, the manager immediately fixed it with no hassle and was so kind about it. That level of care really stood out to me.

Great service by smiling cheerful waitress. No wait for booth seating. Delicious cheese biscuits served to us. We really enjoyed the combo plate recommend the white sauce on the chicken.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful barbecue experience, look no further than Sonny's BBQ. This beloved chain has been serving up mouthwatering slow-cooked meats that are smoked over oak, creating an irresistible smoky flavor that will tantalize your taste buds. From tender beef ribs and briskets to glazed chicken and charred turkey, each bite is a testament to their dedication to quality.
I am in charlotte for a Cowboys / Panthers game on Sunday. Went for a drive ended up in concord and and found Sunnys. I walked in and was immediately welcomed and I even asked for Dodger game to be put on the screen which was accommodated immediately. Then Alex P. Came over and gave me the low down with her favorite selections and what to get on the side. Could not have been a more perfect meal. Ribs, smoked pork, brisket, with beans, Mac n cheese, and garlic bread. The sauce was tasty but the meat was smoked perfect. Tender and juicy with a flavor all on its own. Not to mention. Alex checked up on me often for updates and refills. Being so far from Calif it felt very homie in there. I noticed about 20 people came in and they all seemed to know everyone's name. And those that they didn't know were helped out instantly . What a wonderful staff and thank you so much all. Especially Alex even sent me out with some freshly made donut holes.I am so fat and happy. Thanks again and we'll done by all....oh, and as I said in there, my compliments to the chef / smoke master....

Good restaurant if you want something to eat quickly. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is comfortably furnished. It has a bit of a sports bar flair. The food and drinks were fine. Good quality and well prepared. There is plenty of parking space. Restaurant is located near the interstate.

Food was excellent. Service was great. Haven't been to a Sonny's BBQ in so many years. And as such, I don't recall how it was priced. Today for a sliced BBQ plate with 2 sides, corn bread and a drink it was $20. Add the top and easily $23. Not sure I can justify spending that much.

I must admit I never go here unless I'm with someone else. It's never been a fav. However this last time was very different the food was actually flavorful , tender and good. The best BBQ sauce was the sweet and spicy. I had to take Home packages. I finally will go on my own. Great improvement and the renovations looks so much better.

The food here is always incredible, from wings to pork to ribs. I have yet to eat anything I didn't enjoy. As far as I am concerned Sonnys is one of the last good BBQ places in NC. The waitress was friendly and kept a good check on our table. Food came out timely and we had a really good time!

I went here on June 24th at 5 pm and had a waitress who had blonde hair who did an excellent job. She really makes people feel welcome, as well as keeps the food coming for as much as I wanted to eat. I ate and ate until I almost popped but it was an awesome experience. I will be coming back for more fixings. Sincerely, Inspector David Snell

Seoul Food Meat Company is a laid-back spot offering Korean-inspired BBQ dishes alongside Asian craft beers and custom cocktails. The restaurant features a dog-friendly patio where you can enjoy its diverse menu, including popular items like the 12Hr Ribs, fire chicken, hickory pulled pork, fried tilapia, and smoked beef brisket. In addition to traditional offerings, they also serve fusion tacos with kimchi pork and meatless options like tofu wings and soy pork spare ribs.
Amazingly fresh and innovative fare. The Kinchi fries were top-tier, and the main shareables fed my family of 5. Drinks were well-thought and overall, the food was delicious. I HIGHLY recommend....attentive staff, quick service, and an upscale atmosphere with private karaoke rooms that make me want to come back without the kids.
Jared S — Google review
We booked a room for Karaoke. No complaints there, but management is SO RIGID. My wings didn't seem cooked and were very underseasoned. When I asked if I could get extra seasoning, I was told, "they weren't allowed to do that." When a member of my party tried to customize her drink, she was told "they weren't allowed to do that. The fries had ZERO seasoning so I found the motto on their shirts, "Putting flavor into Bland St," to be VERY ironic because the flavor was definitely on another street!

Horrible!!! I ordered bang bang shrimp And waffle fries and Uber eats delivered it. The audacity to sell / serve this is wicked I just knew if I ate it I would have been sick So I wasted my time and my money but never again !!!!

I ordered the Bulgogi Kimbap for pickup via Instacart about 30 min in advance. It was ready for pickup at the front door no problem. I was disappointed to hear they didn't have chopsticks, though. The flavor is pretty good, but I feel like it could be even better. Always love the veggie flavor, the Bulgogi felt a little underwhelming. Can't beat the price though.
Mia M — Google review
After entering location, it was hard to navigate due to folks crowding the pathway to the room. The back bar person couldn't explain what soju was or how it was made. There were long extended wait times for order to be taking or explained why it took so long. Then we left the karaoke room, had forgetten sunglass and went back to get them and they were stolen by 2 girls per video surveillance provided by management. The sectional seating was extremely low to the ground. The drinks were overpriced, the prices on the menu were different for what I was charged. I ordered a pitcher of white sangria, the menu said $40, but the server said it was $54. I asked why and if all the prices on the are correct. He stated that only the pitcher price had changed. I refused the pitcher and the price, so he poured it out. The food was okay, we had fried wings($19), boa bun(2 for $11), kimchi fries($13), pineapple soju($20), and 4 drinks($60) somehow they ended up charging $175.09. Overall, it was a different experience, but will be our first and last visit there.
Matilda R — Google review
A bit overpriced, especially the sides and the drinks, but the menu has a lot of interesting things to try, and most of what my group ordered was pretty tasty. Serving size is on the small side. Highlights were the kimchi fries (tho, the kimchi was really weak) and bao buns, although the green tea cornbread and kimbap were decent, too.
Kimmie C — Google review
I really wanted to love this place. My husband and I have been trying to find a decent Asian restaurant in the Charlotte area for quite some time. We were excited when we saw the menu online and decided to give this a try. They have a great looking menu but, some of the items that we ordered were lacking in preparation and flavor. Kimchi fries and the bone in chicken wings came out hot and the flavors were ok. I think a little extra sauce on the side for the soy garlic wings would have been nice. The gochujang sauce on the other wings were good though. The pork belly bao buns were disappointing, the meat was cold and chewy. They would have been perfect if they were cooked to order and hot. The kimchi bulgogi kimbap, was… It was like eating day old leftovers straight from the fridge and the bulgogi had a weird texture, like dried tofu that had been reconstituted with not enough water. I really hope that this isn’t the norm and that this restaurant can get better at executing the menu to its full potential. With that said, the service was excellent. My husband and I were greeted by the lovely staff as soon as we walked in. Our server took the time to answer any questions and was super sweet.
Y. K — Google review
An empty restaurant speaks for itself.” This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had , and we paid a ridiculous amount of money for it. If you want to throw your money away, by all means, come here. The cocktails? Tasteless. Like watered-down lemon. The food? Cold when it arrived. I ordered a crispy pork belly it came practically raw. Disgusting. I can still feel the greasy fat stuck in my throat. The service was just as bad: slow, careless, and completely uninterested. This place is all hype and no substance. It’s overpriced, poorly managed, and frankly, a joke. Do yourself a favor: go anywhere else. This place desperately needs new management and a complete reset.

Bill Spoon's Barbecue is a no-frills, stand-alone joint in Charlotte, NC that has been serving up Eastern NC-style BBQ since 1963. The family-owned establishment offers traditional pork BBQ plates with sides like mac and cheese and coleslaw. Their scratch-made banana pudding is a must-try for dessert. Operated by the grandson of Bill Spoon, this welcoming spot prides itself on hearty and flavorful barbecue with just the right amount of tang.
Love Bill Spoon's BBQ. This is a Charlotte institution with great food and the best prices for what you get.

A Charlotte staple that has been around for years and remains unchanged. They do traditional eastern NC BBQ and they do it well. For those that don't know eastern NC BBQ is usually whole hog and chopped with a vinegar sauce finish. It's not pulled pork with a bunch of different sauces to try. Staff is super friendly and it's a family run business. The pork is always consistent and a great representation of eastern NC BBQ. Hush puppies are some of the best I have ever had. Brunswick stew is on point. I had the ribs this time and my wife had the small BBQ platter. Ribs were par for the course. I have had better but the texture was great on them. They don't fall off the bone because real ribs are not supposed to. They come clean off the bone when you bite into them which is what you want.

I'm between 4 and 5 stars here. I went here for lunch 6 years ago and wasn't all that impressed. At the time, I didn't like vinegar based bbq sauces that much and that was all they had. I now love vinegar based bbq sauces and saw there was a Groupon so I decided to give it another chance. I loved it this time around. The vinegar sauce was very good, but it does have a kick to it. I'm not a fan of spicy food though, so take that with a grain of salt. They also have a non-vinegar sauce now which was pretty good too. They give you baskets of hush puppies which is always the sign of a good bbq place. We got the chopped pork plate and the half rack of ribs. The chopped pork was great (although I do like pulled better), but I didn't really like the ribs. They were ok, but I ended up not eating most of them to save room for dessert. I don't think they're worth the price since the chopped pork was better and cheaper. We got sides of bbq potatoes, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and baked beans. The bbq potatoes were interesting and pretty good. The coleslaw was good, pretty standard slaw. The mac and cheese was definitely the star of the sides and was great with the baked beans. The banana pudding for dessert was amazing. It was a small portion, perfect for one person after a big meal (or to share if you're full). I'll definitely be coming back for lunch! It's a really good traditional bbq place which is hard to find in Charlotte.

I stopped in today and was a little skeptical at first to be honest. I stepped inside and didn't see anyone that looked like me...to be politically correct. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly, smiling and welcoming staff. Prior to placing my order, a staff member walked by and all I noticed was the mac and cheese which looked delicious. Whenever I see collard greens on the menu I hesitate because not everyone can make good seasoned greens. Well folks, this place does! I purchased 3 meals to go, that means 3 different opinions. All of us were so happy we chose to try this place. Don't go with the expectation that the food will taste like yours, but they darn sure come pretty close. If you want a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and great food to match definitely try Bill Spoon's BBQ. I'm already planning to go back next week! Thank you for the great experience!

First time eating at this establishment. This is a no-frills restaurant with great food, nice staff, and very reasonable prices. I grew up in the Lexington area, and we used to swear by the BBQ there. I can honestly say that Spoons BBQ is among the best BBQ I have had anywhere. Brings back memories of a time when making BBQ was a craft, not just a job. Thank you

Great southern BBQ, possibly the best in Charlotte. I have tried almost every BBQ place within the greater Charlotte area and though others may come very close, Bill Spoon's has the best tasting and quality of pulled BBQ, especially for the money. There are others that make a mean brisket and great other types of BBQ, but I haven't yet found others that make a better pulled pork BBQ. The flavor is delicious, whether or not you decide to put any sauce on it, which is one of the major unique differentiators. Then the BBQ sauce choices are all delicious, all depending upon whether you prefer a vinager based sauce or something else. The sides are also delicious and the BBQ potatoes is a unique offering for this location that others really seem to love (I'm not a huge fan of baked potatoes). The Mac and cheese, coleslaw and other sides are very delicious as well and if you order the family meal, they come with very healthy portions, enough to feed 4-5 grown men and still have leftovers. Overall, the quality and the price of Bill Spoon's BBQ is superior to others I've had in Charlotte and I will definitely be going back soon!
Daniel B — Google review
This place is fantastic! The prices are a little steep, but totally understandable and worth it. The vinegar sauce is perfect, it's got a little spicy kick to it. My only regret is that I've lived in Charlotte for 24 years and I haven't been here sooner. Also the hours make it tough to get there Monday - Wednesday.

Nestled in North Charlotte, Bubba's Barbecue is a charming spot that embodies the essence of Eastern North Carolina BBQ. With its unpretentious decor featuring wood paneling and metal chairs, this modest eatery focuses on delivering mouthwatering hickory-smoked barbecue without any frills.
Coming from Massachusetts , BBQ isn't as common. We had stopped to grab some lunch here and it did not disappoint! We tried the pit master sampler , the chicken tenders are out of this world . Their BBQ sauce is very good as well! The lady that took our order was amazing , such a sweet soul checking in with us making sure we were ok and our food was tasting good! Their banana pudding is by the best I've ever had in my 22 years of living! Happy we made the decision to stop here during our travel!!

I had high hopes for my visit, especially after the friendly service from the young lady who made the experience pleasant. She really gave me great attention, and I was excited to try the burnt ends. Unfortunately, the meal fell short. The burnt ends were drenched in oil and tasted as though they were cooked in an oven with liquid smoke—nothing like what I expected. The portion was disappointing as well, with mostly fatty pieces and very little meat. I couldn't even eat most of it. After noticing a BBQ sign nearby while in the Popeyes line, I decided to give it a try, but sadly, it was a letdown. In the rainy weather, I ordered online, hoping for a satisfying meal, but what I received was a greasy, inedible mess of fat. I was really disappointed.

Walked about 1/3 mile to experience this instead of Popeyes. Take out. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with mac/cheese and bbq beans. While waiting i noticed they had bbq sauce for sale. I grabbed one since the counter gentlemen said it was really good. The sandwich was ok. The mac/cheese was ok and the beans were just ok. The sauce? Nothing but spicy vinegar. Everything was just ok- I was hoping for at least one or two of them to be amazing- but nothing was. Kinda disappointed- but maybe it was an off day.
Guy A — Google review
Only thing that was great was the tenders and the bbq burnt ends. I really had big expectations of this restaurant, but was totally disappointed. First of all, my partner and I spent $40 dollars because we read the reviews and were just like maybe it’s a “see for yourself” type of ordeal, but boy were we wrong. When the owner came over, we tried to tell him about how the food was, and don’t you know he came up with some bull excuse about how most restaurants can’t get their brisket OR their ribs tender because of “health codes” they have to follow! Man, that was a load of bologna. He said that they smoked them for ten hours plus, so that’s just the way good bbq is, tough!? Like dude, are you really that delusional. I was so pissed I didn’t even cause a problem, I’d rather just pay and leave. The macaroni and cheese had ZERO FLAVOR! The collard greens tasted like they probably weren’t washed but were just thrown in some water, and like they put just black pepper in it, then the brisket was so tough that it was all in my teeth and partners, and was just aggravating trying to eat something that you know ain’t supposed to be like that. Needless to say, this restaurant reminds me of that mean couple on Gordon Ramsey who literally thought they knew how things were supposed to go, but didn’t get any business because nobody couldn’t tell them anything. This, is restaurant needs help asap!

Stopped in for some bbq and I love this place! From the hospitality, the nostalgic ambiance to the food it was all great. We dined on the pork belly burnt ends (because why wouldn’t you) and the pit master sampler. The sides we had were the mac&cheese, green beans, bacon broccoli salad, coleslaw and banana pudding for dessert. It all tasted great, fresh made and good portions. Definitely worth the 40 min drive for us! If you haven’t been, you’re missing out.

1st time visitor - So I'm sitting in my office in the Metrolina businesspark this morning and the doorbell rings...I open the door and find this guy dressed in a Bubba Shirt standing there looking all hot, tired, and sweaty. He launches right into his spiel about how Bubba's has reopened and he's out pounding the pavement drumming up new business. He hands me a handful of fliers for the break room and some business cards good for a free sandwich! Awesome! I figure, if this guy can brave the heat to promote his business, who am I to say no? I headed over at lunch and decided to try both the BBQ and brisket sandwiches. Glad I did! Wow! Full of slow-cooked meat, tasty and delicious! Sauce on the side so I could season to taste (I don't like a big, wet, sloppy BBQ sandwich so that was a nice touch!) A little side of slaw and fun inish it all off with a cold sweet tea and I'll tell you...I think I've found my new go-to lunch spot! I'll be back!

We love City BBQ. Its the best BBQ in NC that we have had since moving here. We share a sampler with 4 meats and 2 sides. The meats are tender, good mac and cheese and amazing corn bread. The inside is eccentric and the bathroom has humorous signs and plaques. Sabrina took our order tonight and very welcoming.

Just say no to “to-go” sadly every item that was in my order was horrible. My fries tasted like old grease, the Mac and cheese was gummy and not seasoned but the worst was the chicken was dry as a bone. It must have been leftover and reheated but was jerky like it was inedible. There’s no where on the app/online ordering to complain but I wanted to share my experience to save other diners.

This was an accidental finding that turned out in our favor. There is an overwhelming amount of options to choose from and the staff is very helpful in making suggestions or explaining possibilities. Pepsi products are offered here, instant plus for me, as well as delicious desserts. The smoked ribs were phenomenal! I’d gladly return and try more menu items.

I had the brisket sandwich combo. The brisket was tuff and dry. The bake bean were bitter. My honey had the sampler (2 meats and two sides). The chicken and the pork were salty. We literally had to eat somewhere else. If you know BBQ this is not the spot. Also the restaurant was dirty.

Take out order. This was my first time eating here and certainly my last. Wish I could get a refund tbh. Chicken tenders were burnt to a crisp, fried okra was extremely soggy, Mac a cheese was dry. Chicken was decent although it doesn’t taste like bbq chicken. Just grilled or baked bbq at best. I’m not very pleased at all.

Had lunch here and it was a pleasant experience. Being a Tuesday it was a ribs special day. You can buy individual ribs (1 bone) for a discounted price. I had a hard time deciding what to get as the menu was enticing and I wanted to try it all. The people at the counter were helpful and once I placed my order it was just a few minutes before it was ready. They have about 4 BBQ sauces that you can choose from and there is a menu board that describes the differences between them. I enjoyed the chicken and ribs. I had the greens and mac n cheese on the side - not my favorites. I also had a taste of the brisket - excellent!!

We originally sat ourselves because we did not see a host stand, but you do in fact need to wait to be seated. Beer and other drinks are available. Seemed higher end for a BBQ joint so plan to pay a little more for ambiance and location.

Just had the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner and it was not good. Chicken had no seasoning. The chunks of blue cheese in the salad were disgusting (and I love blue cheese). Who serves rotisserie chicken and fries with tartar sauce? Also what rotisserie leaves grill marks?

I would come in for the rotisserie chicken sandwich any day. Flavorful and not a hint of dryness. The fries and aioli are also excellent. My only regret is not having enough time or space to try the banana split off the dessert menu !

I've been here twice now. The first time I had the pulled pork sandwi and it was delicious so I made a point to come back the next time I was in Charlotte. So when I came back I had the rotisserie chicken and it was one of the best I've ever had. It came with coleslaw which was also amazing. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back...maybe tomorrow.

This is the kind of place I wouldn't object if someone suggested going to but I would never suggest. The ribs weren't bad but very dry. My feelings seemed to be a consensus in our part of eight.

Food was FANTASTIC. My server was amazing, she chose my food and I couldn’t have been happier. All the staff made you feel right at home. Great cocktails too :)
