Park
Nestled in the heart of Charlotte, NC, Romare Bearden Park is a delightful urban retreat that spans over 5.4 acres and pays homage to the celebrated African-American artist. This vibrant park features stunning gardens, natural landscapes, and an amphitheater that hosts various community events and cultural programs, including live music. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the city's skyline alongside charming waterfalls that illuminate beautifully at night.
It's such a spacious park. I love that it has a huge grassy area right beside the Knights Stadium. You can have a picnic there. People sometimes are out playing with their dogs or just great fun watching the game from the sidelines. They have nice flowers and garden all around the park. They have a waterfall with colorful lights in the background where the kids usually love to run around and play. Just a great spot to be in, if you want to be in the city but away from the hussle and bustle of the restaurants nearby. Of course, it's in uptown, so parking is non-existent unless you are lucky enough to snag a side street parking.

During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of witnessing the breathtaking cherry blossoms in full bloom, which made the experience truly magical. The park’s serene atmosphere, combined with its stunning seasonal beauty, creates an ideal escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Adding to its appeal, the surrounding area boasts a fantastic selection of restaurants, making it a great spot to enjoy a delicious meal before or after exploring this lovely urban oasis. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a stunning photo backdrop, or a delightful dining experience, this hidden gem has it all!

Romare Bearden Park is one of my favorite spots in Uptown Charlotte. It’s beautifully designed with open green lawns, interactive fountains, and public art that gives it a vibrant yet relaxing vibe. Whether you’re here for a walk, a picnic, or just to unwind, it always feels refreshing. The views of the skyline are fantastic, especially at sunset. There's often live music, food trucks, or small festivals on the weekends, so there’s always something going on. It’s clean, safe, and perfect for families, couples, or solo visitors. The location is also ideal—right by restaurants, museums, and the stadium. A perfect example of urban space done right.
Francisco M — Google review
Surprisingly quiet considering it's in the middle of town, surrounded by some great restaurants, walking distances to museums, Bank of America Stadium, Truist Baseball field and so much more! Enjoyed our walks there.
Laura H — Google review
Nice and small park in uptown area. You can have your lunch. Dog friendly. You may see live music as well. No free parking.
Rafiue A — Google review
This park has a beautiful view of the Charlotte skyline and a gorgeous wall fountain that lights up at night. It's good size for an inter city park.
Denese M — Google review
Green area within the uptown, an oasis inside the urban area. Pretty nice, there's a lot of people enjoying the park, the cascade fountain it's an attraction for kids. A city's sightseeing.

This was the first time at this park. It was really nice not a lot of parking though. I went on a day they had a free lunch concert. They have spots for sitting, picnic tables, basketball, pickle ball/ tennis areas and walking trails.

City park
First Ward Park is a 4.6-acre urban oasis located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. It features lush green spaces, modern fountains, and stunning skyline views, making it a versatile setting for various activities. The park offers a blend of urban and natural elements, with trees providing shade and lawns perfect for picnics. Families can enjoy the splash pad fountains while visitors can take in public artwork and fitness equipment.
Made our way to this park during their shout festival. Everything was closing up since it was 8 pm, but there were plenty of things to do. They have seesaw for the kids, a spider web jungle gym, exercise equipment, restrooms, a huge field, and seating locations for everyone. This park offers a lot more of play options for kids and great location. Even though it was nighttime, you were still able to see and have a great time.

First Ward Park is a peaceful and beautifully maintained green space right in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. It’s the perfect spot to take a break from the city buzz, whether you're on a walk, having a picnic, or just enjoying the sunshine. The fountains, modern landscaping, and wide open lawns give it a refreshing, urban feel. There’s plenty of seating, and it's close to great restaurants, museums, and public transit. Always clean and well-lit, it’s a safe and welcoming place for families, couples, or solo visitors. A must-visit if you're exploring Uptown!

We had sure a fun time here while killing time before a wedding. All our kids loved it and there was a Race going on for St Jude and the Panthers band was at the finish line! Very nice area with workout equipment built into the park for those trying to get fresh air and a workout in!
Joshua W — Google review
Nice, well maintained park, lots of kids playing in the water, open fields, and a number of shade trees too.
Chip E — Google review
Amazing parking when something big is not going on. I love the art, the walk paths, and how close it is to a lot of exhibits. Definitely come early if you want free parking, otherwise, you end up paying $30 for parking nearby.
The L — Google review
I went to the First Ward Park Soul Fest. It was fantastic! The artists were amazing and very talented. I planned on buying 1-2 pieces of art, and ended up buying 5 pieces from various artists. I will definitely go back. I enjoyed food from the food trucks and the entertainment from a variety of singers and dancers made the event so much fun. The dancers were teaching the audience a variety of dances from different cultures. Unfortunately, it started raining a little after 5. I tried to wait it out because I wanted to participate in the line dance teaching event, but the wind and downpour wouldn't let up. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate the next time.

First thing, beautiful park & love what they have done there. It is definitely a good place to have your family and friends to enjoy some time together. It is truly a nice park but time for some honesty. One…TOO MANY HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS around….not to be mean but in order to keep that place in a beautiful and SAFE environment…this has to happen…remove them. You have too many families with children out there for this to be happening. Two….the park itself need some sort of park security on bikes and even walking around…it would do the park some good. Three…clean up that fountain in the back….the water is dirty and clearly if there are homeless people, they have been bathing in that. The park has true potential, like date nights with live music for the city ….must do better.

Nestled in the charming Closeburn/Glenkirk neighborhood, Park Road Park is a hidden gem that spans 11 acres of lush greenery and recreational facilities. This urban oasis is perfect for families seeking active fun, featuring an impressive array of amenities including basketball courts, baseball fields, and a whopping 36 tennis courts available year-round. Run Club Saturday morning. 0700hrs. Up to 10 miles distance. Very supportive. Can contact Charlotte Running Company in Dilworth for more info.

It's nice. It's a really big place. We went to the playground that's at this location. My kid loves it. They have somewhat of a "ninja course" here which is what my child is always looking for at a playground whenever possible. There was a restroom here but there is only one stall with one toilet and sink in the women's bathroom and I assume the men's room couldn't be much better. There was also a nice little park with benches to sit on right next to a pond. It was nice. Cool place to take pics of you're in to that sort of thing. It was a relatively large playground too. It was nice. I would go back.
Amanda R — Google review
Park Road Park holds a special place for us - so many evenings spent there watching my partner play in the softball rec league. It’s a great spot with plenty of space for the dogs to roam and play too. A perfect blend of fun, relaxation, and fresh air for the whole family!
Whitney L — Google review
It’s such a good park to take a walk near the pond and relax outside. They have benches to seat. People bring their dogs to walk and also they have a nice playground for kids. Family oriented park with a large parking lot.
Mery M — Google review
What a wonderful park on a wonderful day! The paved loop around the lake is a little over 0.5 miles. The park was full of friendly people with dogs and babies. I saw lots of fish, turtles and ducks. The bathroom was decently clean and definitely usable.
Marianne P — Google review
Admiring how much the skyline has changed from this view point. This was actually shot at the corner of Park Rd (Facing north) & Tyvola. The park is very close with parts under renovations. When Freedom Park is PACKED, this is my next go to which is not too far.
Johnie — Google review
This is really an awesome park! This is my first time here and I made a last second stop after work to get some walking in! Fantastic views, plenty of shade, and great nature settings as well. They also have a good looking playground that I will have to bring my girls back to some day. Overall it was a great time!! 5 Stars!!
Justin L — Google review
We are from out of town and found this nice spot to let my kids run around and burn off some energy. Has swings, slides, monkey bars, and lots of things to climb. It’s a big plot with basketball courts and baseball fields. Decent path around a nice pond for a good walk as well! Plenty of parking all around!

Nature & Wildlife Areas
McDowell Nature Preserve, one of Mecklenburg County's first parks, has evolved from a 136-acre lakeside park to become a prominent natural asset in Charlotte. Spanning 1108 acres, it offers diverse landscapes and habitats for hikers, bird-watchers, and nature enthusiasts. The preserve features the McDowell Nature Center with butterfly gardens, bird-feeding stations, animal exhibits, and a gift shop.
Beautiful nature preserve in the Charlotte area. Enjoyable to go down by the lake and sit on the benches to get some sun or walk around on the paths. First time going and also noticed many different hiking trails.
Vincent T — Google review
Its a very well maintained set of trails. There's easy to moderate hikes. I tried the Shady Trail and Kingfisher Trail. Because there is rich forest cover its usually not very humid and there's a lot of breeze. Would suggest to carry alot of water and it isn't available anywhere but the nature center. Overall a nice place for a weekend hike. Saw a bunch of people swim, kayak and boat as well.
Diganth M — Google review
McDowell Nature Preserve is one of Charlotte’s hidden gems. Tucked along the shores of Lake Wylie, it offers beautiful forested trails, clean campsites, and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The trails are well-marked and vary in difficulty, making it great for both casual walkers and more seasoned hikers. The views of the lake from certain spots are stunning, especially at sunset! The preserve is very well-maintained, with restrooms, a nature center, and even boat access. We especially loved the quiet, shaded areas—perfect for a picnic or just unwinding. The nature center is small but educational, and kids will enjoy exploring it. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a weekend camping trip, or just time to reconnect with nature, McDowell has something for everyone. Highly recommend bringing a pair of binoculars for birdwatching too!
Stuti G — Google review
Beautiful views, a lot of sitting areas, a number of nooks people were using to hang out by the lake, fish, or just enjoy the views. The trails need to be a little more well maintained because there were several low hanging trees and worn-out markers. Some picnic tables could use a good power washing or cleaning. The summer hours at the preserve stated it was open until 8 pm, but online it states 5pm.
Cass R — Google review
My favorite park/nature preserve. It’s peaceful on the trails and they are clearly marked. The group instructors and helpful and kind. Many activities are planned throughout the year for kids and adults. Camping is good for a couple of nights. The campground is very clean. You do hear some of the road noise. It’s a great spot to visit for fishing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, or just hanging out. Don’t miss out on the sunrise and evening kayak events hosted by staff!
Shelley K — Google review
I just wanted somewhere peaceful to sit, without constant humming of traffic but not too far from home. It was so beautiful this morning. There was a light rain, but the sun was still shining so it was just perfect if you enjoy the rain like I do! Very clean, very safe vibe. I hope you enjoy these photos and I hope you will visit!
St A — Google review
Quiet and relaxed( especially waterfront dock). If you’re stressed out, then come here. You won’t be disappointed. Numbers of walking/hiking trails, picnic areas etc. you can do fishing in the lake as well. Pet friendly. Overall a very good place for family camping. You can just sit by the lake and enjoy the serenity. I wish I could be there during summer and fall seasons. Will visit again. Parking and restrooms are available.

Reedy Creek Park is a vast natural haven located in the northern part of Charlotte, covering over 146 acres of picturesque landscapes and serene woodlands. It offers a mix of developed parkland and primitive backwoods, making it a treasure trove for outdoor enthusiasts. The park features numerous amenities such as volleyball and basketball courts, playgrounds, and even a dog park for furry friends to frolic.
Whether you're looking to stroll along serene walking trails or have a picnic amidst towering trees, this park has something for everyone. The trails are well-maintained and families can enjoy the playgrounds and ample space for children to play safely. The park's facilities are clean and well-kept, with plenty of benches and picnic tables strategically placed for relaxation and enjoying nature. Dog owners will appreciate the designated off-leash areas where their pets can run and socialize freely. Parking is ample and accessible. Overall, Reedy Creek Park is a hidden gem offering a peaceful retreat and recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages.

Love this place. Nice feeling of community and the lake is full of fun critters (turtles, beaver looking critters) Little park for kids and adults, and a basketball court. This is where we recycle too. Fun place to hike about.
Isoan R — Google review
Reedy Creek is amazing, with plenty of trails to explore. I usually visit 3 to 4 times a week, since moving to Charlotte 5 years ago. They have two large ponds to fish in, and a wonderful nature center.
Bill J — Google review
Reedy Creek Park is an absolute gem—pristine, well-maintained and feels like stepping into a real forest. Whether you’re out for a morning stroll or an evening walk before it closes at 8:30 PM EST, the trails are easy and utterly peaceful. Wildlife is abundant: I’ve spotted tortoises, squirrels galore, rat snakes, even deer, and a variety of songbirds. The rustle of leaves underfoot is so soothing you might forget you’re in town. There’s plenty of free parking, and the staff are friendly and helpful. In a few spots you’ll notice some plastic bottles left behind by careless visitors—such a shame in such a beautiful setting. Please remember to pack out what you pack in (and recycle!), so we can keep this park looking its best. For families, there are playgrounds and a small park area designed specifically for kids, so little ones can burn off energy in a safe, fun environment. If you want to host a small gathering or family event, there are huts tucked into the woods—you really feel like you’ve booked your own private forest retreat. I’m from Kerala, and I’d love to see my state government take inspiration from Reedy Creek’s model. Our state’s lush tropical rainforests would be perfect for a similar park network—great for both conservation and community recreation. Photos: – Trail-Map of all paths

This is a fantastic place with something for the entire family. Visit the space built by the Carolina Panthers if you want to try a fun workout, you can even time your run! The dog park (for dogs over 20#) is huge! Lots of trees, open space to throw a ball or just walk. Up for a hike, go for it, paved trailed with bridges, walkways and more meander through the acreage. Basketball courts, picnic areas and more. A place to visit time and time again.

McAlpine Creek Park, a 114-acre county park in Mecklenburg County, offers a wide range of outdoor activities for both locals and visitors. The park features Ray's Fetching Meadows, the first off-leash dog park overseen by the county's Parks and Recreation Department. It also includes an outdoor fitness center, soccer fields, horseshoe court, and various trails for hiking, biking, and nature walks.
This park is absolutely amazing! It’s spacious, beautiful, and perfect for a relaxing day outdoors. There’s plenty of room to walk, run, or just enjoy nature without feeling crowded. One of the best things is that it’s pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friends along. Whether you want to take a peaceful walk, have a picnic, or let your kids play, this park is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend it!

McAlpine Creek Park is a beautiful and peaceful place that I would definitely recommend to others. It’s a great spot for walking, running, or just enjoying nature. I saw a lot of students there doing their runs and even some fitness classes happening in the open space, which really brings the park to life. The trails are well-maintained and surrounded by greenery, making it perfect for both casual strolls and serious workouts. It’s a nice place to unwind or stay active. Parking was easy and the park felt clean and safe. Overall, it’s a great space with a positive vibe!

Nice place. Easy walking trails around lake and through trees. You can do fishing as well. Benches are available to enjoy the lake view, birds etc. Pet friendly. You can hangout with friends, family and do barbecue as well. Restrooms are available. Adequate parking.

One of my absolute favorite Parks! They even have exercise machines and a lake full of fish and turtles. I go every time. It's nice out. Great for a long walk and fresh air
Stephanie Y — Google review
I use to live right beside here. The area isn’t considered the “safest” part of town if you live here… but just coming back and enjoying the park alone is nice. They have wooded areas to walk, a nice lake to fish (or sit around), a greenway connection, and a lot of people do cross country running here. It’s very dog friendly ( they have a dog park also ). The greenway crosses 7 miles so be ready!!! It’s very pretty and relaxing. Enjoy!!!

Independence Park, the oldest public park in Charlotte, North Carolina, spans 19 acres and offers a range of amenities for visitors. Established in 1906, the park features a rose garden, gazebo, reflecting pool, walking paths, and abundant shade trees. Recent renovations have enhanced the park with updated landscaping and new playground equipment. It is an ideal location for various photography sessions due to its stone architecture and serene atmosphere with views of the Charlotte skyline.
I went to Independence Park with my son and daughter, and we had such a great time! The playground is fun and safe, there’s plenty of space to run around, and the park is clean and peaceful. It’s a perfect spot to spend quality time outdoors with the kids. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Fun little playground we stumbled upon just driving past it and so we stopped at it later on that day. Right in Downtown Charlotte. Newer, modern playground equipment with multiple different creative ways for your kiddos to climb and get their exercise! 😃👍

Gardens
UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens, established in 1966, is a botanical haven located on the University of North Carolina campus. It was initially created to provide a hands-on learning experience for biology students and serve as a horticultural resource for the community. Over time, it has expanded to encompass 10 acres of outdoor gardens, a 4,500-square-foot glasshouse with an attached workspace, and a teaching classroom housing a vast botanical and horticultural library.
What a beautiful garden! We parked in the spot by the nursery and immediately to our right was a beautiful orchid room with two levels. The whole building is much bigger than it looks and when you’re done there’s a brick sidewalk trail that takes you directly to the gardens! The gardens are huge (10 acres total if i believe so) but take a straight left and you can see the new tea house and their lovely pond filled with fish! Definitely coming back, had a great day with my mom and friends!

Gorgeous themed greenhouses and grounds. I could spend so many hours here! It's easy to assume the trails might be less impressive than the greenhouses, but they are beautiful and expansive in their own right. I especially enjoyed the Asian Garden and the Tropical Room inside the McMillan Greenhouse. I can only imagine how cool it would be as a local student to visit this wonderful place all the time!
Mae B — Google review
Loved it, absolutely recommend a trip! I didn't know peanuts had such bright crimson leaves. I'll definitely come back and check out a different trail! Is this enough words to get more points for a "detailed" review? Hope so.

What a beautiful and magical place! I could spend hours here and I absolutely love the way they have set up their greenhouse and how tall everything is! So many incredible orchids and succulents and cacti and one of the most amazing displays of carnivorous plants I’ve ever seen!! The sarracenia is so plentiful and diverse and the fly traps are so bright and beautiful! I can’t wait to visit this inspiring place again one day :)
Spencer T — Google review
Beautiful hidden gem! So peaceful, with winding trails, bridges, and lots of shade. There’s even a kids’ nature play area that kept mine entertained while I enjoyed the scenery. Very well kept, and plenty of benches to rest and take in the view.
Samantha R — Google review
The rooms are cool. Definitely an overwhelm for the senses... In the best way though! I would like to see more dino stuff in that particular room... When you cross the street to the outdoor gardens, it's like you're in another world. Very relaxing and grounding. Little surprises throughout... Added Plus, you can rent the space for pics or a wedding etc.. great way to get it done on a budget, ijs. Very shaded and organic in its layout. Not the very pristine, super manicured deal, but beautiful all the same.
Danielle C — Google review
We went on a Friday afternoon managed to snag a limited parking spot in front. Beautiful gardens. Different rooms with different climates for the plants. The most beautiful orchid room. Walked across the street and wondered about the hardwood garden. Such a lovely place and loved all the informative signs.
Tess G — Google review
Free to walk around! They have a map to guide you through the different areas. You can park near the greenhouse and sign in. There isn’t a whole lot of parking there but it’s nice if you can find a spot. The botanical gardens outside are pretty cool and it is a bit of walking. I’d recommend coming on a cooler day. Nice experience overall.

Nestled in the heart of Charlotte, Hornets Nest Park is a sprawling 140-acre oasis that offers a delightful mix of recreational activities for everyone. This vibrant park features an impressive 18-hole disc golf course and boasts one of the city's busiest BMX tracks, perfect for thrill-seekers and bike enthusiasts alike. Families can enjoy leisurely afternoons by the tranquil fishing lake adorned with a charming fountain or gather at one of the many picnic shelters scattered throughout the grounds.
Our family reunion on July 19th at Hornets Nest Park was truly a beautiful experience, and we couldn't have asked for a better venue! We were so glad to have secured one of the shelters, which proved to be perfect for our gathering. The park itself is gorgeous, offering a wonderful backdrop for our family to connect and celebrate. A special shout-out to the park ranger we encountered – she was incredibly friendly and helpful! Her assistance in allowing us to bring our things to the shelter made our setup so much easier and less stressful, which we truly appreciated. Her welcoming demeanor really added to the positive atmosphere of our day. Everything about our time at Hornets Nest Park was just beautiful. We had a fantastic reunion and would highly recommend this park, especially for anyone looking to host a family event. We're already looking forward to future gatherings there!

This place is huge! Many baseball fields are in one area, In the next area- a couple large fishing ponds, a large playground with many swings and a Panthers Play60 obstacle course- in addition to basketball courts and sand volleyball courts. Just past that is the BMX track and some more pavilions. There are 12 tennis courts after that (would be awesome if they changed some to Pickleball courts!) And disc golf course runs throughout the park. There are many pavilions and picnic tables to eat and and a few paths the kids can ride bikes. This place feels similar to Freedom park, but not quite as well manicured, not nearly so busy. Tons of space! Highly recommend checking it out.

I like the lake with the fountain there. You can take a seat on a bench and enjoy the view. I saw a few ducks and goose. Also you can finish if you like it. There're few fields to play sports, playground for children and some places for BBQ. In general it's not a big park but it's peaceful.

I had a shelter rental this past Saturday at Hornet's Nest Park, 6301 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC for a family reunion. It was noted that the park ranger was to meet us at the park at 10am to open the gate so that we could drive back to the shelter with the heavier items we couldn't walk back for set up. I was there at 9:55am. We waited and no one ever showed. We walked on foot to locate our Shelter #2 and found and un-housed man was living in our shelter and it strongly smelled of urine. After walking looking for the park ranger and looking for the right numbers to call it was going 10:40am. The emergency line then sent a ranger Keke Worthy and the park supervisor to aide us. We expire our concerns of the un-housed individual and foul urine smell. Ms. Worthy was very apologetic and went above and beyond to address our concerns when she learned what was going on. She really was wonderful in trying to assist. I greatly appreciate her. Thankfully shelter #4 was cancelled and open to we were able to start setting up about 11am. This was a terrible experience, from the ranger not meeting us at 10am, walking in not great weather(rain), the shelter being housed by an un-housed man, the foul smell of urine was unsanitary. The shelter was to be a place where we were due to host family, gather, and cook in was not what I expected as a paying customer that rented this shelter for my family reunion. The event was to start at noon. The lack of follow through on the agreed upon commitment of our contract isn't acceptable nor pleasing. I was so frustrated and disappointed. This threw my entire timeline off for my event. It is my hope that some compensation for this poor customer service/ experience will be provided to me. I took a survey and sent an email and haven't heard anything yet.

There's alot to do at this park. The park has paved paths, two play areas, several picnic shelters with grills, tennis courts, a BMX park, softball field, and frisbee golf. The frisbee golf course was used for big tournament once. There's a pond but it's definitely not for swimming. I've seen people fishing. The park is especially clean considering those nasty geese frequent there. There's several parking lots. It's really busy on the weekends.

Latta Park, located in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, is a 32-acre county park named after Edward Dilworth Latta. It offers a variety of recreational activities for visitors. The park features sports facilities such as basketball and tennis courts, volleyball court, and soccer fields. There are also hiking and biking trails for outdoor enthusiasts. Families can enjoy the playground and picnic shelter with restrooms, electricity, and grills available.
Great spot for walking the dogs with plenty of trees that provide a lot of shade in this heat. The tennis courts are also very nice and I like that they are scheduled, so you play what you scheduled.

Not a very good city park, it seems like a nice park to visit. Everything is out dates and used. Splash ground isn’t much, especially compared to other cities. Soccer Park with a playground. One turf field and one grass field. There is no shade here, so be prepared. The parking lot can also get a bit packed on game days. Overall, nice playground, and the turf field is in pretty good shape. Lastly, there are working bathrooms and water fountains on site.

Beautiful, large, fenced dog park with three separate large areas, joined by wooded paths. Trails surround this gated, off leash area for dogs. It feels like three soccer fields in size, all unique and framed by the most magical trees. The area is incredible and lush. You can spend a good 20 mins walking from one end to the other. Ample running water and bowls for the pups.

This Matthews, NC park has many amenities for the whole family including a playground, fishing pond, and wooded trails. It is also conveniently located close to restaurants and shopping.
We love this park! It is easy to get to, provides beautiful shade, and has something for everyone. Lots of benches and seating options for parents (including a covered pavilion), clean restrooms, a fun playground area for the littlest. My kids hang near the small lake which has a great fishing dock, and great spots throughout for my nature-loving kids to catch all the tiny tadpoles and frogs she can. The lake must be stocked because we caught several varieties of fish in just an hour or so trying.

Me and my children absolutely love this place!! Me and my son got to experience a summer camp program here which included us fishing in the pond and going on a nature scavenger hunt that was really fun and informative! One of our camp teachers caught a nice fish before releasing him back in the pond and we also found and incredible stash of blackberry bushes!! Theres so much for kids to do and a lot of really nice shaded trails with benches placed conveniently for rest, theres also a wooden pallet in the pond that turtles like to sit and sunbathe on me and my children absolutely love watching them!! We highly recommend this park and we love coming here :)

We do love this park. Mostly for the kid-safe paved trails! It's always a fun place to visit and we never run out of things to do. I have a few complains, but not sure they'll be addressed. One: the gravel. YUCK. No matter how careful you go, someone else comes zipping along. My car and our bodies are always FILTHY from the dust of the gravel. Can we not fix this issue?? Two: the playset always seems to have loose screws and play equipment needing to be fixed for safety. Three: the lake is YUCKY. Super gross. Not even my kindergartener wants to go near the lake. Aside from those things, we do enjoy going. I just have to plan to wash my car and bath everyone thoroughly after a visit.

So much variety packed into a pretty small park but it fits well. The kids area with Spray-ground is close to parking and bathrooms for easy family access. I’ve been taking my son to this park for over 2 years but it’s become increasingly hard to enjoy it. Dog poop EVERYWHERE! You can’t even play in the grass for soccer or anything because there is dog poop all over the place. Sidewalks and grass. It’s turned into one giant DOG PARK! Dogs of all sizes running around off leashes. It’s insane. There needs to be better signage for keeping dogs OFF the fields and there needs to be penalties for folks on the field with their pets and off leashes. Children can’t even enjoy the park. I can’t enjoy a walk for fear of someone’s dog possibly attacking me. Dogs on TOP of picnic tables where people EAT. Ugh. Fair warning, I am not responsible for what happens to your dog if it approaches me while off the leash! My ONLY warning. Mecklenburg Parks and Recs, PLEASE fix this issue!

Hello everyone, i am aware that this a long shot but my dog was attacked by another dog at this park yesterday. we rushed him to the ER and he ended up having surgery and received 14 stitches. the owner gave us her number and agreed to help us pay for anything that she could. we did not call the police because we were in a panic and saw our dog bleeding. we were on our way out and put our dog onna leash because we were leaving. Her dog came up and sniffed our dog and then began to attack him completely unprovoked. He bit him on the neck, the paw, and he had my dogs arm completely in his mouth and we had the pry his teeth out of my dogs arm. the other owner blamed us and said that it happened because we had our dog on a leash leaving but the Doctor at the vet said that my dog being on a leash probably saved his life. i do plan to report this but we need more information. if you were there yesterday or know a caucasian woman with a dog named Sunday please let me know! thank you so much.

Chantilly Park, nestled in the Chantilly neighborhood just a few miles from uptown, offers a unique and secluded playground experience. Unlike more popular parks, it is never crowded and provides shade, parking, and bathrooms. The park features two playgrounds for different age groups, beach volleyball, ping pong tables, and even a disc golf hole.
Nothing but great things to say about this park. Great walking path, clean., feels safe. great set up, two playgrounds, benches and wooden picnic tables to sit down. Pet friendly. Cons: No bathrooms! Swing set is in bad spot with no shade directly under hot sun. The brand new toddler friendly playground is so nice! But it was not necessary. I just hope if they have $ in budget next year it’s not to replace the other playground and used towards a bathroom instead.

It’s a really nice park. 2 different playgrounds, 1 swing set with 2 normal seats & 2 baby seats. Covered seating as well as several basic benches. I also saw a ping pong table & was told of a small pond with ducks. No visible power outlets, so if you plan to play on your phone, bring a backup battery. Parking is very limited on the playground side.

Great neighborhood park with lots of shade. There is two play systems geared toward different ages, a shelter for small events, a sand volleyball area, and a grassy area. No bathrooms! Parking is a little tight, all on the street (dead end). You can walk past the park into a small natural area.

Such a beautiful park! Lots of wildlife like turtles, and ducks. Some garbage was accumulating near the ponds.

Visitors can explore over 16 miles of scenic trails through forests that are perfect for hiking or horseback riding.
This place is beautiful. It has miles of walking trails. The welcome center is fantastic with lots of interactive kid exhibits. It was early spring and people were out, but it never felt overly crowded. There are different parkings locations all over the preserve we will absolutely be back.

I come up here once or twice a year to hike and it is awesome! Great views and great trails to walk. It's nice hiking around the water!

Great park! Been a few times and never had any complaints. These pictures are from the Lake Loop Trail. The trail is not well marked and there are many tree roots along the way, but if that does not bother you then it’s perfect. Sometimes it does flood depending on the lake levels.
Allison B — Google review
Scenic lakeside views and peaceful, meandering paths through woods and fields. Wide mostly gravel/dirt paths with minimal elevation gain and lots of connecting trails--so you can shorten or lengthen your hike to your choosing.

Awesome great place to walk or hike! It has a launch for kayaking or paddle boarding. Great views of the lake & good places to sit or eat under a shelter w picnic tables

Nice place for a quiet lakeside hike, has plenty of small beaches for your pups to take a dip. Plenty of parking and accessible restrooms. There were also a good amount of rentable shelters and picnic tables.

The nature preserve is a beautiful place to relax and do some yoga (I recommend bringing a blanket) and sitting by the lake watching the water move is relaxing. The bathrooms aren't horrendous but they look a bit like a clean jail cell. I have gone to the preserve many times and sometimes I pick up the garbage that other people leave behind including fishing line and cans or pieces of plastic. It's a beautiful place to go relax and enjoy the day. I highly recommend this location.

Me and my son participated in a summer camp program that had one of its days booked here! We had an absolutely incredible experience. We got to geocache in the woods and found a really interesting spot with a fairy home! We also got to canoe on the lake and it was super relaxing and fun and we got to see nesting ducks and even a mama and baby blue heron!! We did also happen to find some delicious blackberries growing :) My son was amazed at everything we saw and I absolutely loved the beauty of everything we experienced! We can’t wait to come back and explore more of the trails :)

Went on a quick walk and ended up in a trail. I had my stroller. The trails are not stroller friendly wished I had my carrier. Other than that it was nice and peaceful. The play ground was really nice and well kept. It also has accessible swings which was really cool to see.

A very relaxing and secluded park. This has always been one of my favorite parks in the area… But for a few years, I forgot where it was. I recently found it and have been going a lot. The basketball courts are always clean… The trails are always clean and they wrap around the beautiful pond. They have extensive dirtbike trails. And that the head of the pond there is a gorgeous event space that has a awning overlooking the pond. I love going there and doing Pilates while facing the pond. The trail that circles the whole pond is around 2 miles.

Gorgeous place for photos. Lots of hiking trails, swinging bridge at the creek. Horses, old plantation house to visit. Dog park. Just a grrat way to get outdoors for the day. $5 day pass gives you access to all areas. The gate house has a map of all areas you can access. Games on the lawn. Cornhole, ring toss, ladder ball...lots to do. Pets allowed on leash at all times. Handicapped accessible and lots of parking.

2500 acres of pristine Prairie and Woodland meticulously preserved. There are several trails. This review refers to Mill Pond, Prairie Loop and the lake Hagler Loop. The Mill pond and prairie trail is mostly solitary. I have seen a few people walking on the trail and a few cyclists. Occasionally, the trail runs close to the road where you will hear the traffic buzz, but majority of it is fairly pristine. The trail runs along a small creek. There is a 1700s millstone on display that lent the name mill to Fort Mill. The trail alternates between Prairie and the Woodland. The Haigler loop on the other hand is fairly busy with several young families. There is a cafeteria that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff throughout the Greenway are very friendly. Very clean restrooms, which probably alone explains the $14 entry fee.

My dogs loves the park. They get goofy I'm so happy every single time knowing that they're about to go to the park. They have a big pond that the dogs can swim and they love it in the summertime especially. The only thing I don't like when it's winter time they have to turn off the water for the dogs can drink. Today (September, 03 2025) went to the park they turn the water off without any warning. It is not a big thing but at least tell people right before they turn off the water.

This place is amazing. There are multiple trails here and I've hiked a couple different ones so far. I even got the Annual individual membership for $66/year ($6/month) to save money on parking. Parking for Non-members Adults age 13+ ($12/person) youth age 5-12 ($6/person), for members (free). Some trails are easy and short, some long and intermediate. You can even start on one trail and the veer off onto another trail to make your hike longer. This is not like a normal Greenway. It is nerrow and like your actually hiking. It is also a mountain bike trail as well so you have to move off to the side when avoiding them, trails are not wide enough for them to pass you. It is a lightly trafficed trail, I've rarely come accoss other hikers even on the weekends. It is leashed dog friendly and has a 13 acre dog park as well (16+years to enter Dog Park, No more then 2 dogs visit and no more that 4 dog/membership). That is a separate membership and the park is for members only. Price Update: Individual Annual $72/yr, Family Annual $144/yr, Individual Monthly $6.50/month, Family Monthly $13/month (Minimum of 3 months required for monthly membership)
Kate M — Google review
The Greenway is a nice nature preserve, and we have been hiking the trails since we moved here 20 plus years ago. I enjoy going from spring til fall, but it has gotten expensive to just swing by and go for a walk. I think they should have all day passes and half day passes for the afternoon. 12.00 is a lot these days to just go by near sundown to get a bit of fresh air. When we first moved here, it was a quiet, hidden gem of a place to visit. Now, it's car loads of people and large groups. Seems like they've sold out, and the entrance fees are more important than creating a peaceful, tranquil place to get away from suburbia. If they're gonna charge so much, maybe invest in more activities and clean up the trails for they are worn. A garden area would be nice. Expanded markers for indigenous plants would be nice.
C M — Google review

Delightful! So many areas to walk and play. Enjoy nature, see beautiful animal welded sculptures (temporary display), play in the fenced natural playground - climbing on creative log structures. Forge the creek - barefoot or booted or cross on the swinging bridge. A visitors center at the Hagler lake entrance has stunning earrings if you are an earring-buff. Friendly workers. All around a peaceful, well done nature preserve.

Great neighborhood park with playground. Quiet and well maintained. There is exercise equipment, slides, climbing net, swings, and "rocking dinosaur". Immediately next to tennis courts. Nestled in a high class neighborhood between N and S Edgehill streets. Street parking is available, but limited. Watch the signs.

Love this park! Just the right mix of recreation and leisure. There's a tennis court, playground, grill area, and my favorite, the calisthenics park! My ONE critique - the ground around the calisthenics area needs attention. There are a few deep holes that need to be filled. Nevertheless, I always get a great workout at Edgehill Park!

The workout equipment is in good condition. A little dirty. The area is well shaded depending on the time of day you go. It looks Like the parks and recreation department stoped taking care of the park. It needs to be cleaned up and manicured.

The Little Sugar Creek Greenway offers 19 miles of paved paths for hiking and biking, following the charming creek through the heart of the city. With connections to parks and picturesque views, this popular greenway spans 30 kilometers when completed. The project, conceived in 1968, aims to restore natural areas while revitalizing urban spaces along the sparkling stream.
It's truly incredible to have a nature trail that runs directly under and through an entire city. You might expect to see polluted waters or scattered trash, but instead, it's remarkably well-maintained. Every few steps reveals something new: a statue, an information board, a scenic overlook. Each one is worth pausing to admire. I highly recommend it for everyone, whether you're walking with a stroller, riding a bike, or bringing your dog along. It's clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully cared for.

I went in the mid afternoon, and it was not busy. The trail is paved and there are not a ton of views along the way, but there are some really pretty flowers, the creek is nice, And I think there were some basketball and or tennis courts and playgrounds nearby.

Nice park, cool little trail. I did the 11 - 14 mile section and felt very safe, quaint, clean and friendly. I wanted to go all the way to freedom park but the weather looked dicey

This is a wonderful hike running from Cordelia Park right up to i-485, essentially traversing the city of Charlotte. What’s wonderful is that you can choose to hike a part of it with multiple entrances(and parking is available at those entrances) and still be rewarded for the spectacular views of the Queen City. We did the part of the hike near Metropolitan avenue in uptown Charlotte on a precariously sunny Saturday morning. This section of the hike begins near Metropolitan avenue, and some street parking is available near the entrance. The hike itself is quite easy, and along the hike you’ll find various plants, statues of people who contributed to the growth of Charlotte and also about the sculptors who designed those statues. It was quite intriguing to know about Charlotte’s history. The Little Sugar Creek runs alongside the trail and is a nice companion on the hike. It was good to read about the preservation efforts ongoing for the creatures in the creek. It’s a well-maintained trail and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a hike or a run or a bike ride in Charlotte.

This review refers to the Greenway section next to the Atrium healthcare. This last puzzle of the greenway has been under construction for a couple of years finally opened last month. You hear the birds chirping and the life going on at different pace while you are surrounded by greenery and gentle flowing creek. There are construction workers going over the bridges and people biking along the pathway. You will see the massive expansion of Atrium healthcare under construction. After a while, you do not get any sense of being in the center of the city as the traffic dies down. The sounds and sites of urban Charlotte fadeaway as you walk past the Atrium Health medical center and enter the freedom park area. Overall it is a great natural asset accessible for all of uptown and neighborhoods.

Cute little Nature Center with some animals like snakes. Interactive stations to explore for little ones as well as a children corner with building blocks, books, a ready nook and more to explore! There is a souvenir shop at the entrance as well. What I really enjoyed was the fenced playground right next to the center, so you can just walk and explore outside, after the Nature Center. Very clean and well maintained. And all for free!

This is a Really nice park. This plus isolated but at the same time feels very safe. It’s great to be able to get away from the city and have that mountain country feel. There is a mixture of gravel and paved trails. It’s unclear where you can and can’t ride bikes. We only walk jog this trail. It is odd how quickly 2 miles come I’ll while walking this treck. Along the way is ponds and stilling benches etc. I would recommended this for families. Plenty of parking.

This morning was my first time back to this park in a few years. I went to go fishing, but there was nothing in the lake other than tiny sunfish, 3in long at most. If your trip is based on a fishing spot, go somewhere else. If you're going just to enjoy the outdoors and scenery, absolutely take the trip, it is a beautiful park.

We were looking foe a relatively easy hike around the Charlotte area that would include great views of nature and maybe some local history. The Reedy Creek Nature Center was a great place to visit, as the hike was very leisurely and enjoyable. At the Nature Center the crew member was very helpful with suggestions on which trails to take and the distances. The trails are relatively flat with a few roots and rocks, and very easy climbs. Several bridges take you over creek areas and provide great photo opportunities. All trails were clearly marked and easy to follow.

Decent small park. Located hidden behind a Senior center. The equipment here is NOT shaded and so if you go during the day in the summer beware of burning yourself on very hot equipment. Looking for a challenging trail and we found one! Great for intermediate and above riders. Great: lots of turns, jumps, rough terrain, skinnies, and tight single track. Not so great: all the things that are Great are also a nightmare if you are not experienced or tired! Lots of rocks, hills, etc. Not for newbies. Also the parking lot didn't really map the trails. We kinda had to figure it out along with the trail system. Use an app and that helps! Def worth the ride, props to Tarheel Trailblazers who maintain it!

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is an awesome, phenomenal place! I highly recommend it, especially for families. It is well worth the visit and the drive. What an awesome place! We came for a few hours and wished we'd planned on taking the whole day. We managed to pack in Rafting, climbing, hitting up the dog park and a really tasty late lunch. And there was so much more to do. BUT this is also a great place to come and just relax. You only have to pay to park if you just want to come and relax in the beautiful park-like setting. And then if you are feeling like having some adventure time, you can a'la cart activities or buy a day pass OR get a yearly pass which is a steal. And it should be said that we were really impressed with the staff. Everyone was not only very nice, but also professional. We wish we had not waited so long to come out and enjoy this wonderful place.

Great time here! Started out as a company rafting trip.... A couple of us stayed all day. Highly recommend doing the day pass just know that you have to pay extra for the tall zip lines on top of it. (They didn't disclose this) The big zips were worth it! Recommend the top line to ropes bridges to bottom zip over the rapids. The biggest issues that we had were miscommunication on the employees part. It seemed like everybody we talked to had only been working there two months or less.... There's no consistency between which year from one employee to the next regarding where to go or what to do. Prime example was calling 2 months ahead of time to schedule the company rafting trip and specifically asking about the rodeo option for multiple people. We were told at that time that you could show up day of and get in. They were not worried about reservations ahead of time as it probably wouldn't be too busy. Let me show up the day of and they tell us that they don't do it on weekends 🙄. Our guide made up for it as there was only four of us in the big boat and he read the people perfectly and made sure we did the most extreme he could to make it fun!

The "trails" were well-maintained and free of litter. Lots of bird singings. Sweet solitude while on-the-trail; saw 2 other person when i got back to the parking.

Big park with fantastic playground with something for everyone. The whole playground is full of wide ramps. There are regular sit on swings, handicap swings, swings for parents to hold baby, and baby swings. There is a lower playset suitable for smaller children and a bigger one for older kids. There is also a separate play area with climbing stuff. Some of it is broken or doesn’t quite function right but most of it is good. At the front of the park is a large shaded splash pad. There are also baseball fields and horse shoes. There were restrooms throughout the park but I didn’t use them. There are also walking trails throughout the park.

Terrific park, full of entertainment for children, teens, and adults. I came here to play 18 holes of disc golf with close friends and it was a resounding success. We did a 3v6 scramble and us underdogs were able to push against the 3 elites. In a way, it's representative of the class struggle you see all across the world. Nevin Park is a real one for letting us reenact this powerful power struggle. THANK YOU!

Just wanted to share this awesome spot I've found for lunch, away from the hustle of the office. It's conveniently located, just about 5 minutes from NorthPark Blvd. You're gonna love the tranquility over there, it's super quiet. For safety, there's even cameras installed so you don't have to worry about that. Plus, there's plenty of parking so you won't have to stress over finding a spot. There's also hiking trails for a quick adventure and picnic tables perfect for lunching. Beyond that, there's heaps to do here, from a small playground to just lounging around enjoying the sun. I venture here once a week with my coworker to just unwind and soak up some rays. Seriously, I can't recommend this park enough, it's worth checking out! Totally a top-notch recommendation from me.

Had a great experience both times for our Top Gun Tournamenta on site! The facility is well kept, restrooms clean and well maintained through the day, and the fields were well set up after all of the rain we have had! Thank you and keep it up!

Not bad. Parking is decent. We have been here a few times. It's a pretty long walk in and people park crazy to try to cut that down. Concessions is usually pretty good.

Pineville Lake Park is a favorite among many visitors for its convenient parking, clean restrooms, and diverse attractions suitable for all ages. The park features multiple playgrounds with mulch flooring and hosts various events such as movie nights and live bands. Families can enjoy the splash pad during appropriate seasons and take in the beauty of the lake while having a picnic or simply relaxing.
Always a lovely time at this park. Super clean, tons of play grounds and picnic areas. Connected to the sugar Creek Greenway and had nice paved trails around the little lake. Great place for kids, lots of fun events and live music here too. You can rent some of their pavilions for birthday parties etc. Only a 15 minute walk from Main St! Plenty of parking.

Surprising find in Pineville, very close to the Carolina Place Mall. The center of the park is a calm lake, including decorative water fountain. There are many things to do for kids, probably 5 different playgrounds, all for different ages. Many slides, swings, and other equipment for the little ones to play on and with. On the other end is a large splash pad, which we didn't check out this time but seemed just as nice as the rest of the area. Great fun and we are looking forward to the next visit!

We had a lovely afternoon grounding in the park. This park is large, beautiful, and clean. There’s a great playground and splash pad for the kiddos, walking trails, and a dog run. There are even double seater swinging chairs at different intervals along the lake. If you’re in the area looking for a peaceful place to enjoy your lunch. Well then, this is the spot for you.

One of our recent good finds! The park is connected to little sugar creek way which goes all the way to SC, nice 3mile trail and the views are amazing. The park also has summer events, definitely a nice visit if you are in the neighborhood.

Nestled behind Elon Park Elementary School on Ardrey Kell Road, Elon Park is a sprawling 118-acre green oasis that beckons outdoor lovers and sports enthusiasts alike. This vibrant activity center features an array of amenities, including four artificial turf soccer fields, a youth softball field, and scenic walking trails winding around a tranquil fishing pond. One of the park's standout attractions is its two 18-hole disc golf courses—particularly the Eager Beaver Course designed for beginners.
Great disc golf course very hard though not forgiving at all a loooot of gaurdian trees if you miss left or right
Souless_mann A — Google review
I come to Elon Park about once a month with my friends to play soccer, and every time it’s an amazing experience. The fields are big, the turf is solid, and the area has plenty of space to run and play. Today the sky was beautiful, and I even ended up taking a couple of artsy pictures 😂. What makes this park stand out is how complete it feels. It’s not just soccer here , you’ll see football and baseball practices, and sometimes even full tournaments with multiple teams. Right in front of the fields, people come to hang out and relax, and there’s also a really nice playground for kids, which makes it a great spot for families too. I love this place because it truly has something for everyone sports, family activities, or just enjoying the outdoors. If you’re in Charlotte and looking for a park that brings people together, Elon Park is one of the best.
Mr R — Google review
Came here for some youth soccer games. Worst turf fields I have been to in my life. The underneath isn't nice little rubber balls or pellets, it's tiny little slivers of wood best I could make out. Anecdotally, many players were slipping and getting hurt; more injuries than normal. Gross restrooms. No inside garbage can forced girls to carry womanly products outside. Very hot inside as well. Tons of "no parking on grass" signs that were thoroughly ignored even though ample parking was available in the school parking lot.
Z N — Google review
This place is a hidden gem. You show up thinking it’s just a soccer field complex—but the best part to me is the quiet little path in the back. It leads to a really solid frisbee golf course that most people totally miss. Low-key, peaceful, and way better than expected..
Dave C — Google review
Wonderful place for sports. We play soccer here and the ground is perfect. As you would expect, the artificial turf is a harder compared to grass. You will probably need no-studs shoes.
Rajendra T — Google review
Great park and location for soccer. It felt good reconnecting with my first love, the beautiful game.
Suzette B — Google review
Beautiful recreational center with a surplus of soccer fields and disc golf courses. The Eager beaver is a short and technical course that is fun for beginner to intermediate players. The angry beaver may just do that and make you a little angry from the long tees. You will be challenged by the tight fairways and if you miss your lines you will be punished for it. But a great course.

Cordelia Park, nestled in Villa Heights between the NoDa and Belmont neighborhoods of Charlotte, is a spacious recreational area along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. The park offers diverse amenities such as a basketball court, playground, picnic areas, and plenty of shaded spots under the trees. Notably, it houses one of Charlotte's two outdoor public pools. Visitors can also enjoy epic views while walking along the greenway.
Love it! The pool is 2 dollars per person and its open until 5: 30pm. The splash pad is free and open until later in the evening. Also, the park has a playground and good parking.

Splash Pad is free, there is a button to turn it on if it looks off. It's open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm . There is a pool next to it but didn't go there so don't know the cost. But it's a neat spot! It only loses one star because there doesn't seem to be a public bathroom around. The pool area next to the splash pad might have one but unsure if you can use the restroom without paying admission.

Amongst very few parks that have a pool and a splash pad. Great for a summer day out with kids. You may want to visit during daytime as this park is in the vicinity of uptown which means you may encounter drug addicts during the evening.

Eastover Park is a delightful oasis nestled next to the Mint Museum Randolph, where visitors can enjoy the shade of lush trees and vibrant greenery. This expansive park offers a flat, grassy floodplain that’s perfect for leisurely strolls or bike rides. The scenic Briar Creek Greenway invites you to explore its pathways before or after enjoying a picnic on your blanket. It’s also an ideal spot for dog owners looking to exercise their furry friends while soaking in the beauty of nature.
Great place to walk and take your pooch along! Being a large expanse situated on a very flat, grassy floodplain, makes it an excellent place to walk or peddle on what would otherwise be just unusable greenspace. The old mint museum on site remains underutilized for historic appreciation purposes and civic activities.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte is a must-visit for race fans and history buffs alike. Visitors can trace NASCAR's evolution from dirt tracks to super-speedways and view artifacts like the first helmet with a radio, iconic uniforms, and historic trophies.
As a motorsport fan, this place is a must see. Absolutely fantastic and full of awesomeness. I had the tour and was given the pleasure of David - a man who knows pretty much everything about MASCARAS history. I cannot offer enough superlatives about him - what an amazing fellow and hopefully he remains at NHoF for a long time! I will be back to visit again!!

I just spent 3hrs in there and it was GREAT! I could have spent even longer, so if you want to see & do everything the NASCAR Hall of Fame has to offer, plan for the whole day. If you’re already a fan, you’ll learn stuff you didn’t know & for those new to NASCAR, you’ll come out of there knowledgeable in our sport. How it first began, along with Junior Johnson’s moonshine days, interactive experiences, to getting to feel the pavement from numerous different tracks. Depending on what ticket you buy, you get a lanyard with your own hard card, unlimited times in the simulator, and more! Don’t worry about lunch, The Pit Stop Cafe has an awesome BBQ sandwich I’d recommend. Upon leaving, you’ll go through The Gear Shop, where you’ll find a variety of options for a fantastic souvenir. An amazing set-up from floor to floor, clean restrooms, and friendly staff. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and sorry no drinks allowed inside. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful evening at the Belk Theater in Charlotte! My husband and I came to see Ain’t Too Proud to Beg and were blown away by the performance—the talent, music, and energy were unforgettable. The theater itself is beautiful, with comfortable seating and great acoustics. One thing we really appreciated was that drinks and snacks were allowed during the show—it made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. From the friendly staff to the seamless entry process, everything ran smoothly. We can’t wait to come back for another performance!

My mother, 3 daughters, and I went to see Wicked. It was wonderful seats and a beautiful theater. My husband and I along with 2 of our friends went in the spring to see The Thorne!! Wow, oh wow.. it was amazing. I dont believe it matters where you sit the seats are awesome. The few steps you go down to get to the lower seats are easily accessible, but they also have a small elevator which holds 3 people or a wheelchair and 1 person comfortably. The parking is really close by, but it is a madhouse to get out. You need to know how to drive in back to back traffic.

I honestly cannot believe that I haven't reviewed this place before now because I've been there so many times that I have lost count. This is one of the best little pockets of nature and beauty in Charlotte city that I have ever visited. I have bought several of my own plants from here from the nursery when they do their sales. I have considered volunteering from how much I love going here, this is one of my favorite nature sanctuaries in Charlotte and if it ever goes away I might actually cry. I usually forget to take pictures when I visit so I have included the picture of a fern that I have taken as well as the information chart for the roses that I bought from the nursery which are growing amazingly in my yard.

What a wonderful little place with outdoor gardens. I’m sure it’s beautiful in spring when all the plants bloom. The outdoor area is great, offering plenty of space and shade during hot days. You can’t beat it if you just want to look at a garden and visit home and go to Noah’s Carolina, which is good for kids and adults, especially when you're tired. It works out well. They also have another small 1-acre plot down the road that is free with your paid admission.

This is a cute little place to visit. The fee is $10 per person and they take credit card or cash. We were greeted by a lovely lady and she told us about the gardens. We received our map and started out exploring. We did not see too many flowers or birds at the time we went, but the place is beautiful and peaceful. There are benches along the path to sit if you need to. A few things to note: I use a cane and the pavement bricks are uneven in certain places and since it had rained earlier, it was very slick. Also, it would really not be good for walkers or wheelchairs in my opinion. There are 3 steps to get into the house with handrails. I am sure if you let them know they can let you in the side gate, so you do not have to walk the steps. A nice place to visit if you are in Charlotte and have a few hours.

The gardens dont seem to be maintained. Weeds and not many blooms. We did come in the fall so its towards the end of growing season but it was quite disappointing. Also, with the name Bird Sanctuary, you'd think there would be birds. But...nope. I bet it would be a pretty walk through earlier in the season.

It was a very beautiful garden, very peaceful and even talked to other nice visitors. Going into the houses and gardens were like walking back in time. They really work hard to make this place a wonderful experience. Lots of history and make sure to ask the wonderful ladies questions and listen to what they have to say about the gardens it's very interesting. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping, we even saw a bunny. Be sure to walk 10 houses down to view the other gardens, they will tell you all about it.

Gardens are magical places; very peaceful and quiet with the exception of the beautiful sound coming from the birds & the wind moving through the leaves. In 1926 the Clarksons moved from Texas to Charlotte, they purchased a house with no trees, so they decided to make a garden and put food for the birds, and suddenly all kinds of species started visiting their place. It made me cry seeing the video of the couple who left a wonderful place to visit and spend time at. Their love for birds & all sorts of creatures still remains in that garden. It’s a spectacular place to visit for both adults and children.

Nestled in Charlotte's NoDa neighborhood, McGill Rose Garden is a charming public garden boasting over 200 varieties of roses, an herb garden, and tranquil fountains. Once owned by philanthropist Henry McGill, the 1.3-acre garden has been open to the public since 1967 and is now managed by the City of Charlotte. With more than 1,000 rose bushes on display, this picturesque venue is a popular choice for weddings.
All of the roses were so beautiful, there are of course other flowers and really cool plant varieties. This is a great place to get a coffee chat, with friends, read, hang out & enjoy some shade. The coffee and wine shop right beside the garden has a bathroom inside and is a very lovely environment as well. I will definitely be back.

A very cute and peaceful small garden—perfect for enjoying lunch outdoors. There’s plenty of seating spread out across the area, so it doesn’t feel crowded even when it's busy. Parking can be a bit limited and tricky to find at first, but once you’re in, it’s well worth it. And almost forgot - dog friendly place! There’s also a small coffee shop and a restroom on-site, which is super convenient. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back!

This place is so adorable. We spent a few hours today walking around the garden and enjoying their beautiful flowers. Then we grabbed a table and we had coffee, treats and hubby got a very tasty beer. It is free to get in, but parking was a little hard. Our dog had a blast and we got to watch a wedding taking place. We’ll definitely be back.

Beautiful garden! I went for a stroll with my mom and got some gorgeous pics of the roses. I would definitely recommend visiting for the beauty of course, but also the ambiance. Also, do check out Rosie's Coffee and Wine Garden.

We had the wedding of our dreams at McGill. Everything was perfect and we are still receiving compliments on how beautiful the venue was. The planners/staff go above and beyond. Shout out to Isabella for meeting with us in the months leading up to the wedding to finalize all the details. Top notch and couldn’t recommend it more.

What a wonderful relaxing place in the heart of Charlotte. Beautiful informal garden, plants for sale( interesting herbs ) and even have a glass of wine or a nice cappuccino.

It's a little garden right in the heart of the city. Free park, very limited parking space, not very many blooms maybe it’s offseason( would love to see the flowers bloom). Hard to navigate with baby in stroller(carry or wear the baby instead). Recommend to visit on weekday mornings to avoid crowds, when there’s no hosted events and able to get parking.

You can’t pay for this kind of peace. The wine selection is amazing and the flowers/herbs and plants are well taken care of. I love it here! All it needs is a jazz band on some nights 😊

Park
Nestled in the heart of Charlotte, Ribbonwalk Nature Preserve is a hidden gem that offers an unexpected escape from urban life. Spanning 188 acres, this scenic park features a stunning grove of ancient beech trees and meandering trails that invite exploration. As you wander along the well-maintained paths, you'll encounter vibrant wildlife including various bird species and butterflies flitting about.
MON 2025.06.30~07:10, i arrived at the parking lot. Sunny, low_80s_F and out i went for a walk. The trails ware well-maintained, with some construction-work in-progress. A few muddy spots though passable. The ponds, bog and woods were lovely. During the ~1+ hr of walk, i encountered a total of 5 people and 3 dogs; everyone was cheery and friendly.

Ribbonwalk nature preserve is a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy nature. The walking trails are well marked and easy to follow. There are many tall trees, shaded paths and lots of plants. It’s a great spot for a relaxing walk or taking photos.

The nature trail is very scenic. Didn’t travel too deep. Went through the Hoyt Hinson Hinson trail. Very nice to go deep if you are interested in challenging yourself. Just keep in mind to wear clothes that cover you head to toe, because you never know if you’re gonna get bitten by an insect or a snake. I had no bad experiences so far. Going alone can feel kinda eerie but cool. Didn’t see any sketchy things going on for the first time. Saw only a handful of people walking around. But to be safe, I would recommend go with someone. And I read the low reviews to my discernment, but they’re old. The car break ins? I didn’t face that thankfully.

Such a beautiful hidden gem. We saw a lot of 🦫 activity. Great place to bring your kids, the trails aren't very difficult. Such a great experience all around. The only negative thing I will say is there isn't a big area for parking. Small area when you first arrive. So when it starts to get busy people will park behind you making it difficult to back out. Also heads up bathrooms are a Porta potty at the front.
Tiffany M — Google review
****There are sketchy people that visit the trail and hang out in their cars.**** General safety practices on any trail Regardless of where you hike, follow these practices to reduce risk: Hike with a partner or group. There is safety in numbers, and hiking with at least one other person is one of the most effective crime prevention strategies. Tell someone your plan. Always inform a trusted friend or family member of your planned route, trailhead location, and expected return time. Check in with them when you've finished. Be situationally aware. Stay alert and pay attention to your surroundings. Avoid distractions like earbuds, which can prevent you from hearing potential threats. Trust your instincts. If someone makes you feel uneasy, trust your gut. Avoid or quickly move away from anyone who seems suspicious or hostile. Don't share personal information. Avoid revealing your itinerary, whether in person or on social media. Criminals often look for opportunities and easy targets. Protect your vehicle and valuables. When parked at a trailhead, do not leave valuable items in plain sight inside your car. Place them in the trunk before arriving. Avoid certain areas. Do not linger or camp near roads or trailheads. These areas tend to be more accessible to people outside the hiking community and carry a higher risk.
Boss M — Google review
Beautiful preserve with several trail options and approximate walking times posted at the entrance. We took the Wetlands trail and saw tons of geese, turtles, squirrels and birds. This is a peaceful hideaway in the middle of Charlotte. There are some designated picnic tables off the main entrance trail. We also saw some people walking out with fishing poles so there must be some place to fish. This is a great place for a short walk, hike or picnic.

Wonderful nature preserve. Easy trails, although can be a little muddy after rain. All the damns from the beaver are amazing to see in person! Cool bird sightings, diverse growth of trees and it's so quiet, right in the middle of Charlotte. Highly recommend for a short hike or a full day in nature.

Barely more than a chip shot from Charlotte International Airport and just off busy W. Tyvola Road, the tranquil park is a pleasant and wide-open refuge that feels miles away from the city. Good spot for active (disc golf, beach volleyball, skateboarding, etc.) and passive (walking/hiking/cloud-gazing) recreation.

Not the prettiest park but it does offer many sports facilities. Grass is lumpy. The trail isn’t great. Sketchy imo. It’s a lot more crowded than when I last visited so it does make it feel less sketchy. It can get really crowded some days and that creates limited parking, so people just park on the grass.

Beautiful park with many facilities. From tennis to basketball and even two high quality disc golf courses. If you are traveling through Charlotte this is definitely a good option to stop and play. Though there is no shortage of amazing wishlist quality courses. Just be sure to make your lines here or you will be very deep in the woods.

Discovery Place Science, located in Uptown Charlotte, is a captivating science and technology museum that offers interactive exhibits, an aquarium, rainforest experience, and an IMAX theater. Established in 1946 by teacher Laura Owens, the museum has evolved through various relocations and renovations while maintaining its commitment to inspiring and educating students and teachers in STEM fields. With additional locations in Freedom Park, Huntersville, and Rockingham, N.C.
I had an amazing time at Discovery Place Science in Charlotte! This museum is full of interactive exhibits that make science fun and engaging for all ages. We got to touch a snake and sea stars, which was an unforgettable experience! On the third floor, there’s a creative space where you can build your own projects using boxes and tape—perfect for those who love hands-on creativity and solving scientific puzzles. The second floor felt like stepping into a tropical fairy tale, with beautiful birds flying around in a lush rainforest setting. The aquarium section was also a nice surprise, and the live science demonstrations were fascinating. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enjoyable. Whether you’re visiting with kids or just love science and creativity, this place is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend!

I was a little disappointed with this science museum. There was one area that was closed for a new exhibit that was coming (I know that this takes place at times), but I felt that this was geared more to children rather than people of all ages. When their main exhibit area is closed there is not much for an adult to do there. It is a well kept and informative place though.
B K — Google review
Great museum, in my opinion one of the best ones I've ever been too. Right when you walk in the frogs are incredible. I didn't even know there were that many types of frogs! The next part was more old artifacts that were super cool. Some of them scared me, spiders got something scary bout them. The top floor was really interactive for kids, with a real bed of nails you can lay on. A chair you sit on and pull yourself into the sky. If your in Charlotte, this is another must see attraction.
Kale — Google review
Really fun experience! Here visiting and it was raining so was needing something indoors. My daughter would have stayed here for 4-5 hrs if we had the time! We spent 2.5hrs and it flew by because it was so interesting and hands on. Tons of experiences and stations to do hands on things! My only complaint was the parking. There is a garage but is $17 for 2hrs or $30 for the day. That’s ridiculous when we already spent $72 for 2 adults and 1 child to enter. Parking should be included. We parked down the road in a lot that was $15 for the day and less than 5 minute walk. Otherwise was a blast! Could be a full day if you added in imax and lunch nearby.
Mary R — Google review
Fantastic place to spend a day with your kids. There are countless handson experiences they can do, from playing with water, magnets, gears, building toy cars, playing music with different objects like pans. There are 3 floors full of exitement and open imagination for the kids. They have an aquarium section with lots of different species and one area where they can touch starfishs and sea urchins. Lots of interesting stuff for the little ones and the no so little as well. The dining options are really good and in the healthier side with fun names and shapes for the kids, like the “spaceadilla” with a rocket shape. We didnt had the chance to go into the IMAX shows but it was a great day at the museum. You can save $5 per person when you buy your tickets online.

We’ve been going to freedom Park for over a decade. It is our favorite park in Charlotte when we’re visiting our grandparents. We love the athletic course that was funded by the Carolina Panthers. Every time we’re there, I have to time my youngest to see how fast she can finish it. The park is well kept and beautiful. There is a nice bathroom in the center that is usually clean. There’s a cool looking locomotive and a fun playground for younger kids. There’s also ample space for picnics, volleyball, soccer, and just playing around with your dogs. When my wife joins us, we just enjoy walking around the lake and taking pictures. I highly recommend it!

This is a beautiful park. It's great for walking by yourself or with your dogs. They also have playgrounds for children to play on. This is a special place. I love working out here, long walks, bike rides, picnic tables and benches. Sometimes you'll see squirrels and deer; be careful of the bugs and snakes. There's multiple routes and they all look different depending on the season, you won't regret it!

We love to hike and often take day trips to the mountains on the weekends. This weekend we didn't have time for that though, so we came here to still get outside. While I wouldn't call it hiking, it's still fun to explore the greenways. We parked at the lot off of Pineville Matthews Road and walked about two miles to the next parking lot (between the two 485 under passes). The trail is very flat and easy. We saw a lot of runners. It would also be a great place to bike. There's a fairly long boardwalk (that was a little slippery after rain and with the leaves on it). This portion passes a couple of marshy areas which are pretty and you can get glimpses of the creek. The fall colors were pretty as well. This is a great outdoor space in the city and we're looking forward to exploring the rest of the greenway and the other greenways in the city.

This nature preserve features trails that wind through woods and fields, alongside a creek and a pond. The trails are popular for walking and picnics, and there is a playground nearby. Wildlife includes birds, snakes, and deer.
THU 2025.09.04 06:40, i was the first to arrive at the Preserve. parked and then headed out for a walk. The Preserve is a gem 🙌 Beautiful dawn lighting .. At the pond, chance met a man walking his Matilda; both were v friendly, we chatted for a few minutes, then goodbyes. A few minutes later, i had strayed off-trail .. came upon a "sketchy" water-crossing (Location approx: 35.35499,-80.80338) 🫣 between the Preserve and "Meck Trail". After careful "studying" the water-crossing, and seeing that it wasn't slippery, i very cautiously and s-l-o-w-ly on-all_fours crept and got over to "Meck Trail" (identified in Google_Map as: "Community Church Trail", Mecklenburg Community Church" ?? ). Then i continued my walk (CCW-Loop) through the neigborhood back to the Preserve. The neighborhood was nice and clean.

Throughout the trails you'll be walking through woods, open fields, and alongside a creek and a pond. Near the pond are places to sit and enjoy the view! It's really fun to see how all the wildlife changes throughout the years and seasons.

Awesome small nature preserve. The outer loop is only around 1.5-2 miles, but there are a lot of connecting trails. The majority of the preserve's trails run through grassland with a loop winding through the forest at the back, and there is also a pond on the property. The trails are mostly grass and dirt with a short section of gravel at the beginning. This is a great place to walk, run, and enjoy nature.
Ben S — Google review
Really fantastic trail, great for a short hike or quick pictures. There’s a small but nice playground. Love the trails. Right now they are more grass then dirt, but there is a certain romance to it.

Playground
Robert L. Smith Park, located along Paw Creek, is a fantastic destination for outdoor activities and family fun. The park features a playground, soccer fields, and a half-mile walking trail. It offers ample space for various sports like soccer, cricket, volleyball, and disc golf. Families can enjoy the brand new playground with plenty of swings and slides for kids of all ages.
I love going to this park.I normally go and walk there. It's like a half a mile around the circle to walk.I do a few laps, I love it.The grounds are well kept there's a play area for kids. There's a huge field for anybody that plays sports like soccer or football. The grounds are well kept.I do see security like police that ride by which I love.

Great park for getting exercise, bringing the family out hanging out with friends! They have multiple large open green fields in which you can play soccer, cricket, volleyball, disc golf, or many other sports! They also have a great playground for the kids with many swings, slides and space to run. Currently a bummer of the paths are under construction. Only drawback is the bathrooms are pretty dirty feeling- I wouldn't want to use them if I could avoid it.
Jonmarkheaner — Google review
Brand new playground and mini-playground fantastic for toddlers to practice monkey bars without being dangerous. Plenty of space for tag, and plenty of swings. Not to mention the small walking/scooter/bike trail. The constant plane traffic with low planes to watch is a plus for small kids. Only con are the wood chips-they are the worst with sandals!
Amanda H — Google review
Great park that has a playground and a half mile walking trail. The best part was the disc golf course.
Sherif L — Google review
Robert L. Smith Park is a welcoming neighborhood park with sports fields, playgrounds, picnic spots, and open green spaces—great for families and community gatherings.
Kayla R — Google review
Beautiful, peaceful, space nestled in the Paw Creek Community. Neighbors walk and jog the 1/2 mile loop and use the fields for soccer. There are also trails and gorgeous woodlands here. I love this park!
Robin E — Google review
Small park with a cricket area. Playground, walking area 2 soccer fields and looks like their building an disc golf course hopefully you can ride it as a bike trail also.
Ryan M — Google review
Its a great place to have a morning walk. Jas a beautiful cricket ground and a kids part with swing and other accessories. It also has restroom facilities . Didnt see any picnic shelters so plan accordingly if you plan for any get together or birthday celebration in the park

48Big Rock Nature Preserve

Nestled within a residential neighborhood in Charlotte, Big Rock Nature Preserve is a hidden gem that spans 22 acres of serene woodland and striking granite formations. This picturesque area not only offers stunning natural beauty but also serves as a significant historical site, having been inhabited by Indigenous peoples for generations. Visitors can immerse themselves in the tranquility of the preserve while exploring its diverse wildlife, including various birds, reptiles, and mammals.
Beautiful. Not much of a trail to hike as it is in a residential area, but scenery is amazing and the large boulders are a sight to behold. Trail was well maintained.
Ana K — Google review
Believe it or not - located in a residential neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina is a patch of woods. Nestled in the patch of woods are some very big and quite significant boulders and rocks. Supposedly these are the largest exposed boulders in Mecklenburg County. One would think rising they were picked up and transported from some other landscape far, far away - if you forget about their size and the obvious weight. History: An archaeological investigation of the sensibly named Big Rock Nature Preserve was conducted in 1987. Stone tools, animal bones, and fragments of cooking pots were found among the boulders, as well as more recent artifacts, like a musket ball (likely from the mid-1800s). The study concluded that this area was used as a campsite and observation point by generations of Native Americans, whose ancestors crossed the Bering Strait from Asia tens of thousands of years ago, and who reached the Carolina Piedmont 12,000 years ago. Who knew! 🤷‍♂️ These days, the people clambering on the large stones are likely small children with their parents, or the teenagers who have unfortunately left graffiti. But still it's a very interesting place to find in such a location. It's probably one of the best kept secrets in the Charlotte area. When we got there no one else was there. My wife and I and two of our grandkids had our picnic and explored the boulders for some time by ourselves. Later on a couple more families did show up. But it was a fun time. We probably spend at least 3 hours there. So if you're ever in the area, why not!? 😀 👍👍👍👍

TUE 2025.08.19 06:20 arrived and parked at the Ballantyne Corporate Park for my "2-in-1 Deal" : (1) morning walk to calm my anxiety walk before (2) my dental examination at my dentist at 09:00 😳 My route (~5 mi CW Loop): Parking > Stream Park > Big Rock > Parking. Stream Park and the neighborhood was nice and clean👍 though i was more impressed by Big Rock - a gem 👍👍👍 It was nice and cool 70s_F during my ~2 hrs walk. A few people were out and about; walking or jogging.

An oasis of wilderness and chirping birds in the middle of a community. Humongous rocks with significant history are very impressive. Easily accessible.
Sri G — Google review
The place is beautiful, but it looks a bit abandoned. There are no signs on the trail, even though it’s short. If you need help, you’re on your own. Not really a spot to spend the day with family — just good for a quick stop.
Aline M — Google review
We were surprised to find Big Rock Nature Preserve nestled in a neighborhood. We did not have a lot of time; but we took a nice stroll to the rocks (wearing flip flops). We were definitely intrigued with the big rocks. Hopefully, the next time we are in the area we will be able to go further to find what is at the end of the trail.
Toni M — Google review
Love the boulders! Short hiking trail. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes for your hike. Loved looking at all the rocks.

Super cool park , educational and a good exercise, I would be careful with any children here though as there was so much glass on the ground I was starting to wonder if I was in a landfill

There’s not much to do at Cullman Park, which is part of its appeal. Ducks, geese, turtles and a great blue heron frequent the little pond area, where there are about 6 benches dotted along thee shore and two shaded picnic tables up away from the pond a bit. Folks from the surrounding offices make use of the short walking trail around the pond on lunch breaks for 15 minutes of zen. its about a half mile walk from Sara’s Y and back, making the trip a nice little outdoor warm up or cool down. Do be mindful not to step in goose poop.
Sarah K — Google review
I go walking here nearly every day. It’s peaceful and there are ducks, geese, turtles, and a heron. Sometimes there are people fishing. People come here often for pictures, it’s a beautiful backdrop.
Joey G — Google review
Delightful park to take a break from work or spend an hour enjoying the pond, flowers, wildlife - Heron, ducks, ducklings, turtles - and the bridge, winding walk, and small waterfalls. You can feed the ducks and the Heron.
Diane B — Google review
We decided to have an impromptu picnic for dinner on a week night. What a treasure amongst the corporate park buildings and nearby interstate. Well maintained, peaceful, easy walk around the pond. Waterfall with a picturesque bridge. Ideal for picnics, a sunset stroll or special occasion photographs.
Wendy G — Google review
A cute little park that's good if you want to just sit and relax during your lunch break.

Extremely beautiful quiet park. Nice waterfall, pond with fish and turtles. Grabbed a picnic basket and had a great time with family. Not large enough for parties, but a wonderful time.

50Grayson SkatePark

Skatepark
Park
Grayson Park and SkatePark is a spacious and impressive skatepark with ramps and pipes that are larger than they appear in photos. It has a $5 entrance fee and requires skaters to wear helmets and pads for safety. The only thing some visitors may find lacking is a flat rail for skating.
Good skatepark! Definitely a lot larger in person - the pictures don’t do the size of the ramps and pipes justice. Helmet and pads are required and there is a $5 entrance fee. Only thing it’s missing is a flat rail!
Brandon G — Google review
Like many others have said, the skate park is not privately owned or good enough to justify the odd, limited hours, entry fee, and FULL pad restrictions (which is generally unheard of anywhere these days) unless they are saving up to build a bigger/better one. Even then, it would still be outdated and strange. The only pro is you are almost guaranteed to have the park to yourself but the con is you will have some random stranger who has been hired to sit there and watch you which is awkward.
Joseph A — Google review
charging to skate a public skatepark? this completely defeats the purpose of having a skatepark in the community to begin with. this really could be a positive outlet for youth, it could bring people from all over to engage in an activity with a rich culture, it could be a wonderful addition to the city. instead it's being used as a revenue stream and is no fun for anybody. this gives the whole city a bad reputation as being openly hostile to the skateboarding community and is downright shameful. remove the pad restrictions and get rid of the fee like every other public skatepark in the country and you might possibly bring some life and positivity to the area.
Mags F — Google review
Pro -Nice Park Layout. That's it! Con- doesn't fricking open until 12:30. Ridiculous. Older people that actually pays taxes cant get to the park and skate a park we pay for with taxes and entry fees. Wouldn't mind paying entry fee if you let people in early before every lid in the city gets there and it to crowded to skate.
Rot S — Google review
Just got back into skating again, first time skating Grayson and fell in love! The park layout is amazing! Full pads are required, but not an issue for me as I prefer skating safe. Two thumbs up!!
Billy O — Google review
It was a really good skate park but for a county park and having to pay. I just don’t think that’s right for taxpayers to have to pay for a city Island Park. I feel as though with my taxes I pay for that park already. Another thing is you have to wear full patch. I can understand a helmet at least but kneepads elbow pads and helmet is just a little overboard. You sign a waiver going in there so I can see your helmet but everything else just Be the riders discretion specially over the age of 18
The F — Google review
The staff on site are incredibly rude and unprofessional. Requiring people to pay to use a “public” facility is beyond ridiculous. The city parks and rec department seems to view skateboarding and BMX as criminal. I have only seen a handful of facilities that operate in this manner and it’s laughable. Get with the times Mecklenburg County. You have an amazing facility that people should be able to enjoy whenever they want.
Matt S — Google review
Unfortunately this awesome skate park is in a sketchy neighborhood. I was with my kids & when arriving back at my car, a homeless person would not stop verbally engaging with me. I rushed my kids into the car & the person circled my car, made it difficult to leave the park, and made me feel very unsafe. We will not be returning.
