Great Cuban sandwich and amazing empanadas. The quantity of food/size of sandwiches is definitely good value. Sandwiches can take a bit to prepare (made to order) so good tip is to order ahead online to save time. I definitely recommend this place.

DELICIOUS empanadas & Cuban sandwiches. We always get 1 sandwich and 2 chicken corn cheese empanadas to have leftovers later. The empanadas are HUGE. Woman at checkout gave me a bonus empanada when I walked in to pick up my order :)

Incredible empanadas. They are large and freshly fried. Their online ordering system is very easy, but be aware that they don’t usually have everything on the menu and you will be asked if you want to make substitutions when you go to pick up. Each empanada came with a side of chipotle mayo. Underrated flavor was the eggplant parm— so comforting. We would come here again!

I think the only thing I would change would be to ditch the two TVs. They just don’t go with the cool vibe and atmosphere. The place is genuine Peruvian. Our server was Peruvian. As authentic as it gets and very high quality and delicious food. Everything is always cooked to perfection and the flavors are excellent. Service is always incredibly welcoming and attentive. They make great drinks too and its always a great time. Fanatic spot.

So, it is the best Columbian food around great people fun family spot. Latino myself and always looking for fresh clean home made food on the go this is the right place. Get the empanadas de carne and pastelitos de pollo. Insanely crispy with the best fillings and mayo ketchup dipping sauce. Also the chicharrones, carne asada, and steak and cheese are good. Come in grab a quick meal, don't expect to be blown away by their establishment or service. The food is good, some items are a hit and miss, the good ones are really good and capture the essence of the Colombian street food. The service is average, you order at counter and there are no servers, more of a fast food service style, they are nice but don't expect to be amazed by the service skills. The atmosphere is where this place keeps getting worse, it has been the same setting for over 10 years, place feels dirty, it's extremely cold during winter, bathroom is gross. There has been 0 investment into the restaurant. Could be a great place to sit down and grab a meal but unfortunately it feels more like a run down school lunch cafeteria. Take care of your customers and your customers will take care of you.

This morning I bought some pasteles and empanadas, and I get so upset because they are charging now for the salsas, every restaurant provide ir for free, on top of that the quality of the food it is so poor. The service still good.

Came here directly from the airport. They accept only cash no card payments. Had chicken, steak empanadas, Colombian hot dog, chicken wings, and fried raw banana Tostones. It was slightly difficult to communicate with the server because they spoke Spanish. Nevertheless, the place was lively at midnight and had outdoor sitting until midnight. The food was worth the price.

We got their hotdogs wrapped in empanada dough, ham and cheese, beef, and spinach and cheese empanadas 2 each). The beef was the best of all, but none of them were very good. They were so so and all of the dough was somewhat undercooked.

Recently visited their Bow Market shop and tried a variety of empanada delights. Every single bite was perfection! The fillings were so flavorful and creative! You can tell the care that goes into making each of their empanadas. Also great Pebre and Chimi, staples now in our home. Staff is exceptional and friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

A beautiful buttery shell encompasses cheesy deliciousness in the ham and cheese, dreams and happiness in the beef, and my Personal favorite guava and cheese is a thing of absolute perfection. OMG. These empanadas are truly some of the most comforting foods ever! The pastry dough is always so crispy, flakey and buttery. You can choose from a wide array of flavors, ranging from more traditional fillings to more experimental. My go to is the ham & cheese. But I love when they have the vegan Big Mac, Thanksgiving stuffing or literally any of the other unique flavors. The menu was expansive and my only regret was that I couldn’t eat more. My paella was flavorful and full of seafood cooked perfectly. I’m unfamiliar with PR cuisine and enjoyed seeing what the other diners ordered. I wish the menu had photos. The outdoor seating would be lovely if spring actually arrives.

Restaurants we Know. Walking to the Cathedral of Boston we found Vejigantes Restaurant, specialized in Puerto Rican food. The street is the center of an historic Puerto Rican neighborhood. Our lunch included a Canoa with plantains, meat, and cheese and a Mofongo with chicken. They are supposed to be appetizers but enough for two seniors. #abuelosmochileros_boston

My order online was a total disaster, over 30 dollars for 4 appetizers that was not close to what is on the menu. These were full of oil, no taste, yucca was supper very and what I taught was Bacalaito was simple water snd flower dough fried ☹️called them to talk yo a manager they put the phone down all I could hear was music😠😠 I don’t recommend them. Oh the plantains hard snd dry like rocks..,,just bad. Oh wait the garlic cream was so bitter that I couldn’t even have a spoon of it

2ND time ordering Pastelillos de res and receiving Alcapurrias de res. Called to see if there’s an error on the uber eats app, Met with customer service that left a lot to be desired and told no just a mixup in kitchen. Is it really a “mixup” They done this twice a month apart. It’s a lack of caring and paying attention to detail!

First time visiting this restaurant. The decor is vibrant and lovely. The food was mediocre at best. I had the red snapper, there most talked about dish. There was absolutely nothing outstanding about it. It had a bland taste, not well seasoned at all. It came with a salad which was a little odd to me. Also, dry fried plantains. My husband had a chicken dish. The drinks were good. The service was okay. They add gratuity to your bill so I guess it doesn't matter if you love the food and service, or not. They validate parking ticket. Honestly, I wasn't happy with my dinner and I wouldn't return.

Had dinner & did not disappoint. We stared with the pulpo a la parrilla, ceviche de pesado, mini cubanitos & shared ropa vieja with yuka fries. We also had the white sangria with passion fruit flavor & it was delicious. To finish off we got a 4 margarita flight ( passion fruit, traditional,mango & tamarindo) would def recommend this places to anyone. There was also a live musician & it was perfect for a Friday night.

I recently dined at Dona Habana and it was an extraordinary experience! The food was absolutely phenomenal, with rich and authentic Cuban flavors that transported me straight to Havana. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with taste. The service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Things to know before you read the whole review. Free parking (up to 3 hours) is available at the parking garage with validation from restaurant. A lot of people go here for birthday celebration so it gets annoying after a while to get interrupted every 20-30 minutes to hear the birthday song. But. If you are celebrating birthdays this place is for you. The restaurant is made up of two parts, the front bar area is more relaxed and has many tall chairs/tables where you can order all the entrees available at the restaurant. While the back hall has more comfortable seating where all the birthday parties seem to take place. The food is excellent. We sat by the bar and was repeatedly interrupted throughout the dinner with birthday songs. The first three were fine but after the fourth I was like really? I know I shouldn't feel that way and I have been at other locations where people celebrate birthdays, this one for some reason was just over the top. Obviously I wasn't there celebrating a birthday so in a nutshell, if you are celebrating a birthday this is the place to go. If you are not be prepared, just in case it is a busy night.

I traveled 1 hour and a half with my husband to get to know this restaurant, and have a special dinner. The food was good! the drinks were good, we didn't have a reservation, they found us a table outside, the worst mistake!!! God, not even how many rats walking around our feet, it was horrible! I have a phobia of rats, I spoke to a waitress and they put us at a table inside. The place is very beautiful! if there were no rats much better!

Lovely open air marketplace in Somerville's Union Square that is a hub for local artisans, food vendors, and entertainers. It's a lively community space to sit down and eat or to visit boutique shops. Lots of retail shops, culinary delights in this unique two story pentagonal design surrounding with a central courtyard. Some of tge outdoor seating areas adorned with sun umbrellas during summer and fire places during winter. Felt like a Christmas holiday market vibe.

It feels like a Hallmark set! We stopped by on Sunday, 12/1/2024, around 4:00 p.m., and most of the stores were still open, but it was quite empty—great for those who prefer to avoid crowds. We were able to pick up a few super cute stocking stuffers.

I can't believe it took me this long to make my way out to Bow Market. This is such a great place to do a food crawl. Even in the cold winter months, it was quite lively on a Saturday afternoon; I can only imagine how busy it gets during the summer. There are a bunch of food/drink pop-ups, mixed with retail and arts/entertainment stores. All of them are quite small, but there is plenty of seating in the center. You can eat, chill, or people-watch. There is metered parking, but it was all taken when I went, so I recommend going early to beat the crowd or expect to park further and walk.

One of East Boston’s old-school Colombian bakeries. Stopped by on a Saturday morning for some light bites. Maverick Square has a good number of Colombian spots, but this one felt especially beloved by locals. Packed even at 7 a.m., though the line moved quickly. Most people were here for the classic combo: a hot coffee and pandebono (Colombian cheese bread). I was tempted by the buffet-style breakfast plates in the corner, which offered rice and protein options like braised beef or fried chicken wings. Not sure if they cooked them fresh in the morning, but none of them looked particularly appetizing. There were also no vegetables in sight, so we just got a plate with braised beef and rice. The beef was tender, but it felt a little lonely. Perhaps some grilled peppers, onions, or even a scoop of beans would have been nice. On the side, we tried a chorizo and some chicharrones. The chicharrones were dry, but the chorizo was surprisingly good. Instead of the usual ground meat, I could actually taste chunks of properly-seasoned chicken, and it wasn’t dry at all. From the sweets, I went for the caramel mille-feuille, but it seemed like it had been sitting around for too long. No crunch, just soggy layers that slumped so hard my fork had to work overtime. Overall, it’s more about the energy and community here than the food itself. I’ve had stronger Colombian plates and pastries elsewhere, but if you want to soak up local East Boston vibes, this place is worth a stop.

I wasn’t a big fan of the figs, but the custard was phenomenal, and I will absolutely be heading back for the guava and cheese croissants. And I never would have thought to put caramel in a croissant, but it was just so tasty!!! The coconut was the thing that really brought the guava and the cheese together. Again, I never would’ve thought to put coconut on it but wow that was so delicious.

I visited this Colombian restaurant in Lynn while in town visiting my sister, and I’m so glad we stopped by! The environment was warm and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that made us feel at home. There was only one waitress working, so the service took a little extra time, but she was attentive and friendly, and it didn’t take away from the experience. The food was absolutely delicious full of flavor Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Also, very conveniently located near the airport. Getting a taxi might be the best way to go as the maps app might have little bugs and also the fact that parking is limited in the area.

We are from upstate New York and my husband surprised me with a trip to Cape Cod for the weekend. We landed and took off from Boston. My husband is Colombian and whenever we get a chance to eat Colombian food we do. We stopped at El Peñol. It was small, cute and service was great . Colombian people are usually super nice and it was no different here. Definitely get the empanadas!!! My husband got the Bandeja Paísa and I got a soup. Beware they serve alit which not a bad thing. Definitely a must if you are in the area.

Had the opportunity to try traditional Colombian breakfast right here in Boston. One of my friends was gracious enough to take me to this little hole in the wall place and it was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

Can I just start off by saying I don’t usually leave reviews on places but I had too on this one .. 0/10 I genuinely don’t understand how this restaurant has a 4.5 star rating . Not only is it expensive but the food is literally horrible no flavor what so ever . I got stewed beef that I couldn’t even chew or pull apart just full of a bunch of oil . Beans tasted like nothing if anything had a very weird taste to it . Don’t get me started on potato salad I’m honestly disappointed I threw everything away I didn’t eat no more than 2 spoons . I only tried this place cause I usually just eat next door but I figured I give this place a try since I was craving rice , yeah okay never again 😭 I had to end up walking next door anyways to order my usual cause food was terrible . Customer Service wasn’t the best either cashier had an attitude and was with a grumpy face entire time I was there . 0/10 if you are driving by and are hungry save your self the time,money and disappointment and just head over to Castillos next door it’s a store that sells better food .

I placed a large order for pick up for a familial event that included a large Tray of pernil, large tray of chicken, large tray or moro and potato salad 2 days before the event and they came through. The food was great and everyone was satisfied.

I’ve been coming tp this place for years. Today I go in, the staff was less than welcoming. The rice was hard and the beans tasted like they took it out the Can and warmed it up. I didn’t get meat. Just rice beans and salad. I ordered a orange juice and it tasted like they watered down some cheap OJ. Paid $16 with the OJ. Disappointed. This was actually one of the few places I eat Spanish food from cause Boston Spanish restaurant just isn’t giving what it’s supposed to give for a PRican such as myself. Seems like when the owner is there and the nice short man that serves the salad, the food is good. I’m so disappointed ☹️

Their food is absolutely delicious! Every thing is savory, hot, fresh & full of flavor & they are very sweet! One suggestion: get there before 5 pm, they close early & usually the food is all put away before 5:30-6 pm.

I love the food here, they serve you plenty food, enough options for you to choose of, cleanliness of the place is fine, easy to notice from traffic, the customer service is very good, the food presentation and taste is very good, the place is not way too big but is fine, the downside is the lack of parking and very difficult to find one around the area.

My wife and I used a gift certificate to purchase take-out lunch from La Perla. I ordered the ribs which were quite tasty and the accompanying moro de habichuelas (brown rice and beans) was really delicious, especially with the gravy from the ribs on it. And the amount of rice was enormous. The accompanying salad was OK but not very interesting. Her fried snapper was very good but we kind of forgot that a whole fish comes with small bones. Mea culpa! The accompanying steamed vegetables was, again, a very large portion and perfectly al dente. The staff was friendly and helpful and several do speak excellent English. Note that they close at 6 on weekdays and often stop serving the fish (snapper or salmon) well before that. Lunch is probably the way to go here. All in all this was a very good experience and we're looking forward to trying out more of the menu items. PS: Note to restaurant - a web site with an online menu would be helpful.

The wait staff were friendly and helpful with explaining dishes that we did not know. The food was tasty and freshly made to order. The empanadas were light and crispy. The mondongo was a good portion for one person (small) and came with a hearty portion of rice and a side salad. The cheeseburger had a crispy and airy bun that was toasted just nice with the meat cooked to order. Would definitely return there again!

I stopped by the restaurant and purchased items from the bakery counter. I paid with my card and it was a hassle because it turns out there is a minimum amount you need to spend before they accept cards. I ended up ordering more food than I needed or wanted. Anyway, turns out the restaurant made a fraudulent charge to my card! I had one charge for $11.62 from “El Paisa” and another charge for $11.04 from “El Paisa II”. It took two calls to Visa to reverse one of the charges. ...definitely not going back - not worth the hassle. There’s a better Colombian bakery in Maverick Square just a minute away!

It has been the first time we eat here since Cov19 and it was a good restaurant good food good prices but today the food was not good we order The typical colombian plate and the rice taste like microwave rice and the beans had a weird flavor my Fiance and I decided not to eat there again and it was one of our favorite restaurants. I am colombian and I know what the food should taste like at least with some flavor.

Worst customer service ever!!! So I order online through their website. I get there and the lady tells me no. Ok, so I show her my receipt on my phone, which shows they received the order. Then she goes to talk to the cook, which is watching some game on tv, after a few minutes she comes back and says sorry we can't help you. It's only 630 pm they close at 10 pm. The best part is they didn't even ask if I still wanted my order. Just didn't even bother to serve me or see if there was something else they could help me with. TERRIBLE! IM REALLY DISAPPOINTED.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the food, staff and location. So many choices on the menu and fresh baked items to take home too. We found it to be exciting to get something different for breakfast. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. I noticed this with the other waitress working there too. So refreshing. As weird as this sounds, the back of the restaurant smelled so clean. This means, (definitely to me), CLEAN. Like they just cleaned everything. This is a place that I really want to go to again when I'm in Boston and will be sharing our experience with everyone.

The atmosphere is just as great as the food. The vintage-style décor gives it a cozy, old-school diner vibe that’s super cute and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that feels both nostalgic and lively at the same time. The staff are always friendly and upbeat, and service is quick even when it’s busy (and it usually is — for good reason!). A fantastic find with a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The food at Zaftig's tasted exactly like a home-cooked meal, and it was absolutely delicious. The matzo ball soup was extra special and hit the spot on a chilly night. I highly recommend the ZAFTIG COMBO, which was a perfect sampler of their best dishes. The cheese blintz was heavenly, the potato pancake and knish were cooked perfectly, and the sweet noodle kugel was a delight. We will absolutely be back to enjoy this delicious comfort food again.

Great food at an affordable price. Sunday brunch is an experience to cherish as it seems half of Brookline is here enjoying it. It will not disappoint, especially the cornbeef hash and eggs.

We went here for lunch and it was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend the Reuben, the Monte Cristo, the Pastrami and Swiss, and the French Fries. There was about a ten minute wait when we went on a Saturday morning, but they kept tables moving through quickly. Once we were seated, the service was prompt and friendly.

Food was better than I expected and I expected a lot. The latkes were crispy without being greasy, and the Lox were so fresh. I took the cheese blitzes to go, and they were delicious too.

I like Barcelona Wine Bar for both its food and atmosphere. I also appreciate their uniquely designed tables—they’re a nice change from the generic ones you see at most restaurants. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, I’m happy to pay for quality tapas. I hadn’t been back in years, and I was a little disappointed with the paella—it lacked the crunchy bottom and felt more like risotto. That said, it’s still a solid restaurant overall.

I love this place! I went with my friends to have girls night out and had the best time!! Catherine was our bartender, she was really welcoming and recommend me a good white wine (I think it was Mila from Spain,so good) and some cheese and meat to pair with it! The vibes were perfect to catch up with my friends and still have fun! I would definitely come again. I recommend to sit at the bar and asked for Catherine, honestly she made our night!! Thank you✨

Food was delicious! I recommend getting a paella (half was enough for 3), ricotta board, potatos, and sangria pitcher. It’s a very popular location so wait was a while even though we had a reservation (and this was a Thursday). Food took a while - Paella took over an hour to make but was so good & we ended up staying for about 3 hours. Our server was very nice. Highly recommend!

Me and my friends have been here several times, highly recommended! Their signature seafood paella tastes very authentic. We also tried a few tapas, and liked the wagyu best, tender, and full of flavor. The service was great too.

I visited for my birthday along with 9 of my friends. I had a reservation for 7:30 and knew that the place would be busy. When I checked in, the hostess said they had set up a table for us outside. I was slightly disappointed because I did not indicate I wanted to sit outside, as I knew it would be a chilly night. They also unfortunately did not have their heaters running. The manager was helping the hostess and he happened to hear I was disappointed, so he pulled me aside and said he would get us a table inside as soon as possible. While we waited, he had the bar manager come to our group and serve us all sangrias. Our table was ready shortly after, and as soon as we sat down, we were treated to their most popular tapas, fantastic bread, and delicious olive oil. Everything we tasted was incredible and came out super quick. My favorite was the wagyu beef carpaccio. They went above and beyond and just when I thought the night couldn’t get any better, they brought out deserts for all of my friends and made me a special “happy birthday” board. Throughout the night we were very well taken care of and the manager, Josh, was fantastic. I’d also like to thank Jess, our server, who did a phenomenal job, and Alex, the hostess who helped get us seated promptly. The team there is incredible, and dinner service was executed perfectly. This has become my new favorite Boston staple.

I cant say enough good things about this place! We were visiting boston for a few days and we went in on our first night, Catherine, bartender, welcomed us with a smiled and explained the menu so patiently! My friend doesnt drink alcohol but Catherine was quick to mix a great mocktail for her… we were well taken care of all night. The drinks and food were delicious and the atmosphere felt perfect. The playlist they had that night was 10/10. We wanted to go back again during our visit but they werent enough days to make it back. I cant wait to go back and visit this place again, also great bathroom as well hehe the decor of the place and the art on the walls is just great. See you guys soon!! Great Spanish tapas restaurant to enjoy on a date night or with a family of 12. The wide variety of small-to-large plates and an extensive selection of wine keeps your palate entertained. Accompanying the food and wine are a friendly staff and a rich atmosphere accented by dark shades of wood/tiles, light marble bar counters, curiosity inspiring pictures, and gentle lighting. The paella was excellent. It was packed with seafood and a tasty, moist rice. The chef uses a combination of spices, cheeses, vegetables, fruits, and meats to create a wonderful selection of small tapas plates. Some standout dishes: The potato tortillas were thinly sliced and layered. So rich and creamy, and offset by a cool sour cream. The grilled peaches had a slightly crisp / al dente texture and a great taste from the brief cooking and sherry. The patatas bravas in the aperitivo board were amazing. Crisp and piping hot with a fantastic sauce. The Mahon and Manchego cheeses went along well with the Marcona almonds and marinated olives. The roasted mushrooms had deep flavor and were seasoned well with garlic and green onions. Special thanks to David for answering our many questions and helping our large party out during a busy dinner period. The professional service and wine recommendations were greatly appreciated!

My friends and I stopped by Rosa Mexicano in Boston Seaport after a boat cruise, it was conveniently within walking distance, which made it an easy choice. We got there around 10pm (they close at 11), and thankfully they were still seating and serving. Our server, Yasmina, was friendly and mostly attentive. That said, since it was close to closing time, the staff seemed to be in clean-up mode, so it took a little while to get her attention when we needed something. I ordered a frozen guava margarita, which was disappointing, it tasted more like grapefruit than guava, and definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. I also got the Birria Quesatacos. Flavor wise they were okay, but there were tough, big pieces of meat that made them hard to chew, and the birria sauce lacked flavor. One nice highlight of the night was that we were celebrating a friend’s birthday, and the staff brought out a complimentary birthday treat and sang to her (upon request). It was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. Overall, Rosa Mexicano has a fun vibe and a great location for late-night eats in the Seaport. I loved the overall pink aesthetic as pink is my favorite color, but for me, the food and drinks fell a bit short.

The food was delicious. The interior was beautiful giving night club vibes. Our server was okay, they seemed distracted. Also they didn't check us in via our reservation so I had to email with open table a few times.

First trip to Boston and this was our first restaurant we visited and it was a delicious start to our trip. We ordered the Parrilladas and it was so much delicious food. Mote than enough for two. Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The only downside was we were too full to finish. We had three different salsas over the course of our meal and each one was absolutely delicious. Service was amazing and the restaurant is visually stunning.

Super fantastic Mexican restaurant in Boston. We loved the margaritas with the Grand Marnier. Tasty and strong. The cheese quesadilla had a special sauce to step it up a notch and we loved the Christmas tree in July. Would definitely come back here again.

Had a decent meal here! The tacos and chicken enchiladas were all fine, but very one note. Felt on the more expensive end too and I’d be more likely to go to Citrus & Salt or bartaco instead. I would recommend the baja fish and the quesabirria tacos. The fried plantains were okay, but definitely needed more crema.

The shrimp and corn were great but the chicken taco had zero flavor, not sure how they managed to suck out all semblance of flavor with something that looked so good...

I dined here with a group of 4 for Sunday brunch. The drinks were good and food was solid, but nothing blew my mind. I tried almost everything on the menu, and my favorite thing was the esquites corn bowl. The chilaquiles were good as well, but most of the food seemed a little gimmicky. The $29 bottomless brunch is a good deal though!

The food was really good and the nacho also. A little pricey especially since each taco is sold separately and confusing. I’d eat there again.

I went for the first time for Sunday brunch with some friends. I enjoyed the decor and the food. Service was also great. However, for roughly $15 each there wasn’t much alcohol in any of the drinks. We went for the “bottomless brunch” which is only food in Massachusetts. We tried a number of dishes, the best were the tacos and the chicken and waffles. I also enjoyed the chilaquiles.

Went for the All You Can Eat Brunch deal this past weekend and it was such a wonderful experience! The service was fantastic, the food came fast, and the food itself was absolutely delicious! They make sure you are fed there, and I would 100% go back. Can’t recommend more!

Came here with some friends for bottomless brunch. Every dish we ordered was insanely delicious and packed with flavor. My personal favorite was the chicken milanesa torta. The music in the restaurant was very upbeat, groovy, and had us dancing in our seats. The service could have been a lot better. When waiting to order more food, I had to yell “EXCUSE ME” very loudly to get a waiter’s attention. Aside from that little mishap, I highly recommend this place, especially for bottomless brunch.

15 of us went for dinner after work on a Friday & it was amazing! Indoor / outdoor seating available. Service was friendly, timely & attentive. The drinks were great & the food was phenomenal!! Do yourself a huge favor & try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed

The portions were so big and soooo yummy! The service was very slow despite the place being kinda empty, but Pat(our server) was really nice. This place feels very homey and old fashioned. The prices are pretty good for the food portions I got the corned beef hash (favorite), Ma’s brunch pizza (so yum), Parisian French toast, Bavarian French toast

Get the S&S wings!! The sauce is great, a little sweet not really spicy. Wings came out piping hot and super fast. Staff was friendly and made sure to provide plenty of napkins and wet naps. I look forward to coming back!

A nostalgic deli experience in Inman Square. As the oldest restaurant in Cambridge, S&S has cemented its status as a beloved local spot that serves a wide range of classic deli fares. l came here for lunch a few times and always had a satisfying experience. Among the appetizers, the Chopped Liver was my favorite. Although it was unexpectedly paired with pineapple and melon slices - a combination that didn't entirely complement the inherent sweetness of the liver spread - it was still enjoyable when paired with crackers and red onions. Bathed in their signature sauce, the S&S Fried Shrimp was also good. The sauce leaned more towards sweet rather than spicy, but the jumbo shrimp was still nice and crispy. The Seared Tuna Salad was fairly basic, but with its generous portions, it was an ideal choice for a hearty meal. Corned Beef Reuben came with perfectly toasted marble rye bread, and the corned beef itself was solid. One of the biggest perk of S&S is their own free parking lot, but empty spaces might be hard to come by during peak lunch hours. Overall, a great spot that provides a slice of the city’s culinary history with the timeless appeal of a classic deli. If you’re looking for a comforting meal with a warm, nostalgic atmosphere, I highly recommend giving them a try.

Been here a handful of times and have always loved it. Got the turkey havarti club and the eggs Oscar and a few peach belinis. Always a pleasure to come to S&S!

I've eaten here for the last time apparently, although I didn't know it at the time. S&S is the kind of place I'm glad exists, and I have been happy to support them over the years. I've seen other reviews describe it as a diner. It's more the sort of sit down restaurant that there aren't enough of anymore. It's a real restaurant that isn't fancy. Many of the waitstaff are older, and in my experience all are professional (if a bit gruff). The menu is that classic kind of "American" that has a little bit of everything, some of which you'll like, some you probably won't (but someone else will), and one or two will be a favorite. I always get the same thing, the the herb roasted chicken. I love it. It's changed over the years but it's been consistently good. So if I have so many positive things to say, why such a negative review? I made an attempt to go recently. There were 3 of us, and coordinating took some effort. S&S closes early. 7 pm has been the last seating for a while. We left work at as soon as possible, but that's 5:30 pm. We rushed home, got in the car (we live in East Boston), and drove over, arriving at 6:45 pm, in time for the last seating. Except we were greeted by a sign on the door stating that the kitchen now closes at 6:45 pm. We walked in and asked, technically we were there at 6:44 pm, but were informed the kitchen was closed. So we left. 7 pm was tough, but closing the kitchen at 6:45 pm on weeknights is unreasonable. But more than that, it was just the sense that they don't care… about our business, about the customer, … about us. I realized as I was walking out the door that S&S just isn't for me anymore. 1 star is the most appropriate rating for the experience I had (food, service, and atmosphere). Thanks for the memories over the years S&S. I won't be back. As a general rule when a restaurant demonstrates to me that they don't want to be in business, I do my best to accommodate them.

Boston icon, been around 100+ years. Lots of tables and at least when I was there for dinner mid-week, no wait. Service was quick, our server didn't forget a single detail and was present without being pushy. Inside decor is mid 1980s which is part of the charm. They have a full deli also, so likely a great spot for lunch. Food prices were good, quality / preparation was ok, nothing special. Fair value.

Corn beef and pastrami was good and the sandwich had plenty of meat. However, pricy for the amount. A bit crowded and tight in the front. Staff were fine but could have been more helpful with ordering as it was my first time there. Worth a stop, in if you’re in the area(Coolidge Corner).

Michael’s Deli has earned its reputation as the best deli in the Greater Boston Area. The best bagels and lox, delicious whitefish, and the crunchiest half sour pickles. The sandwich menu is full of great choices and Michael and the staff are A+. Highly recommend and not to be missed.

Loved every item! I tried their knish, balsamic vinegar Romanian pastrami and strawberry fields forever. The strawberry fields was worth going there a second time. Definitely recommended.

By far, one of my favorite Delis. Everything I've ever ordered has been excellent. I love the atmosphere, too. Great staff. And the owner, Steve, is great. 2nd time I've ordered the Reuben. It's perfect.

Well deserved 5 stars. White fish- to die for. Pickles- the same. And super creative knishes, filled with mashed potatoes, kasha (buckwheat), or other savory meat and pastrami fillings. The owner is making every week another surprised and crazy knish. Also some desert knishes. Stand in line as this is the definition of paradise. But- take the food out. The place itself is not welcoming to seat and eat. Nor is the music.

Hands down the best deli in Boston. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. One time they forgot the bacon on my turkey BLT, and the owner personally offered me a second sandwich for free. Can’t recommend this place enough!

I haven't been to Michael's in a long time. I need to get back there. I don't. Know if I reviewed Michael's before, but it was good. The only reason why they gave atmosphere before is on Thursday. Renovated the place recently when I went there. The interior of the deli is old not in France ybut that's what I like your typical old-fashioned. Neighborhood anything. You go into this big fancy. New chain type restaurant and you are. They're real nice inside of modern but the food might not be that good for the portions are small. Another thing I noticed is the staff will respond to all the reviews whether they're good or bad. I can't stand it when you go to a restaurant. And it wasn't that good and you put up an honest review. And there's never a response from the owner. Or staff, it's like they don't care.

Boston was an underwhelming experience but this place was the highlight of our trip. Felt like I was eating my moms frijoles and arroz. I asked for an elote but got esquites instead, and I’m glad I did! It satisfied my pregnancy craving for the authentic taste! I’m about to force my husband to make the four hour trip here just to eat their food again and try something else in the menu. They also accommodated our daughter and were very kind to us.

Really good Mexican in quiet part of town. Staff were good, quick service. Fresh ingredients like the salsa. Shredded chicken and beef were excellent options. Chilled vibes and strong cocktails, recommend the passion fruit mojito.

The food was fine, but as a Mexican, I feel shocked to have spent $4 for chips and not enough salsa, and then another $2 just to have any chile in the three tiny sopes I ordered for $16. I can understand adapting to the gentrifying prices of the neighborhood, but at that point that's adapting to gentrifying culture. I would at least expect more flavor for those prices, not something average. That and having "taco light" (tortilla replaced with lettuce) on the menu leave me unable to recommend the food, although the place and people were nice. But the service was quite slow too, considering I was one of two customers in the building.

The drinks are good. The food is meh. Served stale chips and guacamole lacking flavor. Our mains were fine. And service is hit and miss. First time was amazing. The second was basically non existent.

The food was absolutely mouth watering! The combo of ingredients pair so well together! Being an Australian visiting America, my stomach has been badly reacting to the lack of freshness commonly in most foods, but you could instantly tell that these ingredients were all made from scratch and tasty. The owner and staff were so welcoming and I’d recommend this to anyone travelling to Boston!

I wish I would’ve known about this place before. Great service and food. Quality ingredients and very tasty. I had a italiano. Delicious fresh baked bread with a high quality hot dog with just the right amount of avocado and tomato filling. Really good, love this place.

A really unique sandwich, I really enjoyed it. I had the chicken chacarero. I tasted the jalapeño and habanero sauces and loved them both so I chose both. I had a little fire in my mouth, but what taste! The flavors work well together. And the staff is really nice.

I got the chicken sandwich which was all white breast meat. A touch on the dry side but better than the alternatives. Green beans on the sandwich added a really nice extra crunch. The bread tasted real good too. Overall an awesome sandwich. I’ll be back for another! I don’t get a picture because I devoured it.

Had for lunch recently. ~$16 for BBQ Chicken sandwich, a bit too expensive for me I was expecting more deep savory flavor, but I don't know the cuisine that well. Food was solid overall, flavor was unique and I'd never had something like it before, and I bet it's a good representation of Chilean food, also considering that it seems more family owned/run.

Came to Ariana on the recommendation of a friend who raved about the flavorful food and we were not disappointed. The mix of spices in the soup (aush), the kebabs, sauces and challow were delicious. Desserts should not be passed up either, all made with a variation of pistachio and cardamom flavoring. All of this was delivered with excellent, friendly service. The owner stopped by twice himself to make sure everything was in order. We will certainly be back.

Went there for the first time last night, a beautiful October Saturday, and ate on the back patio with family. Fresh, delicious food and warm hospitality, we will definitely go back soon with friends. I don't remember the actual names of the dishes, but we had the pumpkin appetizer, leek and shallot shells, lentils, chicken over greens, trout, and rack of lamb - and all were really good. Also, the wine was tasty and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and professional - impeccable.

Fantastic food. This meat was cooked incredibly and they have the Grill Special that works well for groups. Try the Bowlawni Kaddo appetizer!

The atmosphere is nice, with outdoor seating available—great for a big group dinner. The food overall was good, though it didn’t quite match my personal taste. The lamb was tender and flavorful, and the mantu had good flavor but was slightly undercooked. It’s a bit on the pricey side. I probably wouldn’t go back, but it’s worth trying at least once to see if it suits your taste.

The food at Mariel is absolutely amazing. It’s not the same as in Cuba, but it’s definitely on another level ….the flavors are rich and delicious. The cocktails are beautifully crafted by the bartenders Servando and Javier, who take the time to explain each drink and dish. I sat at the bar, and it was the best decision I could’ve made. I went here with a group of 6 friends for a dinner. The place is gorgeous. I loved the atmosphere. The food was amazing. It is tapas style and the cocktails were great as well. I would definitely recommend!!

Definitely worth it girls. Take bunch of photo since this place is gorgeous. Food was definitely pricier side but the atmosphere pays it off. A little salty to my taste definitely order drinks to neutralize it. My server was very attentive and his recommendations were on point.

I really wanted to love Mariel — the atmosphere and décor are beautiful, but the service completely ruined what was supposed to be a special night. We came to celebrate my birthday and even mentioned it in the reservation, yet it was completely ignored. No acknowledgment, no dessert, not even a “happy birthday.” On top of that, the service was incredibly slow and inattentive. We waited ages just to get drinks, and our server rarely checked in. For a place that positions itself as upscale, I expected at least a bit of effort to make guests feel welcome — especially for a special occasion. The food was decent, but honestly, it’s hard to enjoy it when the experience feels forgotten and impersonal. Definitely not the spot I’d recommend for any kind of celebration.

I honestly don’t know where to begin. The only good thing about this place is how great the interior is. My friends and I had a reservation at 9 pm. We arrived there on time but our table was not ready. We were standing there for more than 30 mins waiting for our table and asking the people at the reception multiple times why aren’t they giving us our table until they finally tell us that other people were still sitting at the table that we reserved. They finally asked the people sitting at our table to leave and we were seated after waiting for around 40 mins. It is so unprofessional and unacceptable how they treated us and left us standing there in the middle of the restaurant without any explanation. They apologized at the end and gave us free fried chicken but it was honestly too late. As for the food, my friends and I shared multiple things. My favorites are the hamashi crudo and tuna coco crudo. The cubano pizza was okay. As for the rest, including lobster tacos and blackened shrimp, we did not like them. They were too spicy. Just to the note that the security guard at the door asked for IDs, which I honestly don’t understand why given that we are going to dine at a restaurant and not party in a club, so if you’re going there you need to have your ID or passport with you.

Delicious food fast service. I was really impressed by the calamari by how good it tasted. It was definitely worth the value. I would come back here plenty of times. The food was so delicious. Definitely recommend!

We ordered the Lomo Saltado, ceviche, one beef empanada, one chicken empanada, and the maduros (sweet plantains). The meat was tender and flavorful, the empanadas were satisfying, and the ceviche was decent—nothing extraordinary. But the real standout was the sweet plantains: incredibly soft, perfectly caramelized, and melt-in-your-mouth sweet. They truly stole the show. While the food was enjoyable, it’s definitely on the pricey side. That said, dining in comes with perks—you can enjoy live music at no extra cost and receive a $5 discount for access to the party room in the back. Drinks were around $14–$15. I had an espresso martini during dinner, which was spot-on in flavor. We followed it up with mules—not very strong, but just right to keep the energy up. Overall, a great spot to dance and enjoy a Latin night in Cambridge!

Great atmosphere, clean, well designed dinning area and bar. The food was delicious, and authentic. It’s latin fusion. Good prices and varied menu. Delicious Caribbean cocktails. Our server Beverly was excellent, friendly, professional, and her recommendations really hit. The bar manager Was very friendly and professional. He helped us security table for leaving giving him they had live music. Food is very delicious to have dinner but if you also want to make it a night out they have great options for live music, DJs and dancing. The dancing is in a separate area. It’s not the same place where you dine. I highly recommend this place specially having a latin background. The atmosphere was good for date night or a business meeting. Depending of the time.

We got there about half an hour early but they were still able to seat us. Great service, very friendly staff. Overall, very very tasty food. The whole red snapper was perfectly crisped and the chicharron was crunchy where it needed to be without breaking your teeth, and melted in your mouth everywhere else. The sangria was the best I've had, sweet and tangy and bubbly. The only issue I had was with the sauces. It didn't feel like any of them belonged with the dishes they were served with. But that's minor thing in my book. The food was good enough to enjoy without sauce, too.

My friends surprised me by taking me to 'La Fabrica' to celebrate my birthday, and what an unforgettable experience it was! Came to this quaint Caribbean restaurant after a concert of mine got cancelled in Boston, and was looking forward to their diverse selection of Latin American foods. I had previously tried mofongo in the DR, and their shrimp mofongo was equally as delicious! Their ceviche was also to die for, as it tasted incredibly fresh and rich! Also shoutout to Alex, our amazing server, who made the evening very special for us!

Jorge is such a treasure and helped my group have a great time at the nightclub after our party. this is such a good place to dance in Central—one of the most energetic, packed clubs in the area. the food is fantastic as well! great sushi, drinks, entrees, etc

I had a great time at this place. My friend and I went a little early so we had the whole dining room to ourselves and we stayed there for hours since the vibe was nice and the music was good and people start to file in and it looks like the dining room had completely filled up at the end of our dinner. The food was amazing and the drinks were awesome too. I especially loved the guava mock tail. Guava anything is amazing but this was particularly good. Highly recommend!

Think of it as the Cuban cousin of Barcelona Wine Bar. All the basics done right, nothing bad, but nothing outstanding. Visited for dinner this past weekend. Some of my friends raved about this place as one of the best Cuban restaurants they’d ever tried, and the restaurant seemed really popular among the locals. The spacious two-floor restaurant filled up quickly, reaching near capacity within the first hour of opening. Maybe my expectations were skewed by the hype, but while the experience was good overall, there weren’t a lot of dishes we enjoyed. Favorite: Ropa Vieja Solid: Ceviche Decent: Chicharrones, Lamb Chops, Baby Back Ribs, Key Lime Pie Ceviche was a solid start to the evening. While the chunks of fish were a bit too large and awkwardly shaped (affecting the overall texture), the citrusy broth, avocado puree, and a subtle tingle of chili worked nicely with the plantain chips. From the small plates, the Chicharrones and Costillas a la Guayaba were decent but underwhelming. The pork belly and ribs were both on the drier side. The Lamb Chops were the most satisfying among the meats, elevated by a creamy, umami-rich hazelnut and almond romesco. Unfortunately, the Roasted Cauliflowers were a tad disappointing. The thick Manchego cheese sauce was overly dominant, which overshadowed other toppings. The highlight of the evening was the Ropa Vieja. It did take almost half an hour to come out, but it was worth the wait. The tender shredded flank steak, stewed in a rich tomato and pepper sauce, paired perfectly with the side of rice and black beans. Dessert was a Pie de Limon served in a cup—visually appealing but flawed in execution. The crust was stuck at the bottom, making it impossible to scoop until the very end. I ended up eating most of the sweet key lime cream on its own, which was a bit too sweet without the crust. If you’re craving Cuban flavors in a lively setting, it’s worth a visit, but I’m not sure if I’ll be back.

Went to Gustazo with a group of people a few months ago and returned recently with my partner and a friend. We really enjoyed our experiences both times! My one comment is that Gustazo seems to like to maximise tables and only have parties of four to a four person table, parties of two to a two person… etc. We were sat at a table that I would say is for two people so it felt a little cramped. Even though they did bring out the dishes one at a time, it felt a bit rushed to finish one so they could clear the plate to make room for the next. However, the food was excellent as were the drinks. (One other note is that we were sat at a table near the closed egress doors and there was a draft which was fairly uncomfortable since the temperature was low). Everything was delicious but the standout dishes would have to be the cauliflower and their key lime pie!

The food, atmosphere and customer service is top tier. It was worth every penny. The food feels like your abuela is in the back cooking with love. The presentation is chic and luxurious. It feels like you were transported to Cuba. You greeted as soon as you walk in and the waitress and waiters go above and beyond to make sure you’re okay. This has to be on my top 5 places to eat in Cambridge. I wish I knew about this place before I graduate. I will be back. The ropa vieja is so good. It’s a traditional dish.

Tapas style Cuban restaurant with delicious food, service, and cocktails! Everything we had here was delicious and shareable. There are some main entrees that we did not try but also looked good. Standout to me were the mussels which is made in a delicious tomato and chorizo sauce. The shrimp is equally delicious, as well as the mushroom croquettas, ribs, and fried rice! So good I came back the next day for more and it did not disappoint! S/o to our favorite bar tender Christian!!

Just phenomenal. The yucca fries changed my life. Don’t sleep on the chicharrones, fall apart delectable pork belly with the most satisfying, creamy avocado puree. I’ve been here twice and the vibe is always super lively - perfect atmosphere for everything from a festive gathering/celebration to a chill Friday night dinner. Loved the drinks too. Just bring a party and come here!

Every dish we ordered was excellent! The scallops were exceptional and the dessert was very creative and tasty! The place was slightly crowded and loud, especially in the basement, but the waitress let us move to a quieter spot. Overall a great experience!

Gustazo is one of my fav restaurants when it comes to intimate dining with a small group. The menu is tasty and the mixed drink selection is inventive! Wait staff is friendly and helpful. The experience would be better if the food serving would be more spaced out and thoughtful. Instead they brought everything at once which made us feel rushed.

The food is generally good, and the servers are friendly. However, I’ve had some recent disappointing experiences with pricing and service. Today, I was overcharged by several dollars compared to the menu price online. On a previous occasion, while I was dining-in, I ordered a drink but received the wrong one. Although the server agreed to replace it, the correct drink never arrived, and the charge was not removed from my bill. These issues have made my experience less enjoyable, despite the quality of the food and service.

I went here earlier in the year and my time was amazing over here. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the dining experience was so rich. I had the Mofongo Burger and Strawberry Smoothie and the meal tasted delightful. I will definitely plan to comeback here in the future.

Parking can be tricky but not super bad, I would recommend use street parking. Food was good temperature and the taste was also good. The service was fast and good. Only aspect that wasn't as a good thing as everything else was the bathroom, it needed some attention for example the lock was kinda messed up, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker, because so many other things there are worth the visit.

I can't evaluate the food since I placed the order and canceled. I used to go there often, but I don't know if the food and services are the same. Since I don't come to Boston too often, I redeemed a gift card from the restaurant. It was odd since the person who swiped the card said it didn't have funds, but the 800 number said it does. Who to believe it. I may try next time; otherwise, I'll trash it.

This restaurant is not by far what it used to be. Service is super slow despite having enough people. it used to be one of my favorite places... it such a shame that management is rarely visible. I hope things will get better there...🫣

I was just introduced by a my Colombian friend who has been a valued customer of this establishment for pst 25+ years. Very cozy mom & dad store the kind that it is getting harder and harder to find. Very welcoming and I only chose something out of the fried display box and that was delious.... I will most certainly make many more trips back to this joint and we complete my review of it a bit later. At this point it gets all 5 stars all the way. This place is a hidden gem and I Highly recommend it. Specially if you have a date😁😎😘👍👍👍👍👍

Food was bland and tasteless. They were so friendly that they get a star for that and their deserts were not too bad. Pastelitos we’re just meat and cheese. Their plate of food was a container of soggy tasteless rice with the same tasting chicken. The worst part was the CANNED beans they use and the soggy iceberg lettuce. I wanted to like this place because they were super friendly but the Puerto Rican food is not even close to what it’s suppose to be, might have been a bad day for them as I know running a business has bad days but sucks I had to be the one to loose out.

Went to Izzys for the first time last week and can't wait to go back. Loved it, it's a small mom and pops spot with really good food. I got the pork chop with rice beans and grilled onions and a side of salad. So good! Only negative was the parking situation. Would definitely go back.

Great food. Really tiny place, so it can get packed quick, especially since their is a school near by and near MIT campus. Ox tails, snapper, patties, sausage with peppers are my go-to. But the chicken wings are definitely my favorite.

Food hear is super good and affordable. I would highly recommend trying out the food. However, seating here is limited so I would do a take out order. They have a verity if ethnic sodas (ex. Malta).

Haven't been in a long time. Service is excellent, albeit a little understaffed when i went. Food came out quickly with no issues. Chicken was moist, great seasoning. Surprised by the smoked plantains. Good taste, but not a lot of carmelizaition. Chaufa was excellent, seasoned and had a very fluffy scramble to the egg. Sauces were outstanding especially the green sauce.

Highly recommend the plantains! The half chicken was good but the sauces and the salad weren’t innovative or mind blowing, especially for the price.

Recently got the mixed ceviche, lomo saltado, tamal, and the chicken dinner for delivery. While they weren’t the most affordable Peruvian food option in the area, they certainly had some great dishes worth trying. The mixed ceviche and lomo saltado were our favorites, and I especially liked the refreshing aftertaste of the ceviche. Tamal was also interesting, but a bit too heavy to be an appetizer. The roasted chicken was just okay, but fortunately, the sauces made them miles better. We also wanted to try the Inca kola and their specialty corn drink, but they were unfortunately stolen by our Grubhub driver. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable dinner overall.

This place is amazing! Love Peruvian barbecue and never thought I’d love it so much. Definitely need to get the mixed organ dish and the chicken dish. It was to die for and pretty good price. It is a bit slow in terms of waiting for the food especially when there are a lot of people waiting but the food is very much worth the wait!

So glad to find this corner satellite of Machu Picchu Peruvian Restaurant finally reopened in its corner location in Union Square. The food is as incredible as in the mother shop up Somerville Avenue around the corner... with chicken the focus of the operation. The chicken, sauces, beans and rice we had were all top-notch, and we're big fans of Peruvian rotisserie chicken.

Love coming here! I was recommended this restaurant a few years ago and haven't stopped coming. I usually order a whole charcoal chicken for about $22. It's like a combo meal and includes white rice and salad. I also order fried sweet plantain, fried casava (yuca) and fries for my girls. All for about $35. They also have 2 or 3 Peruvian beers and wines as well as different natural juices and shakes. Dessert is also good with creamy flan! The only con I can think of are the small tables that can barely fit all the plates but other than that, I highly recommend! MUST TRY THE GREEN SAUCE!!! LOVE IT!!!!

If you're looking for real *Trini* food, this is the place. I've been coming for years and moved 40 minutes away but always come here when I'm in town, definitely a favourite spot. The owner and everyone working here is always friendly too and it's good value for the money. Only downside is parking on a busy street, but worth it still.

I have been a loyal customer at Singh's Roti shop for years. The reasons I keep coming back are simple. 1: The food is phenomenal, literally, imo, the best, absolutely authentic Trini food in the Boston area. I have never had a bad meal here, and the variety is fantastic. On top of that, it is consistently quality. Ricki cooks with pride in his work and it absolutely shows. 2: Mr. Singh's hospitality, respect and care for his customers, and love for his food makes every visit a delight. When you walk into his restaurant, you are family. I would also, if you're up that way, recommend visiting their location on Revere Beach, which is run by Mrs. Singh, who is also phenomenal in her own right.

Singh's is my go to for Authentic Trinidadian food! Every time I'm in the city, I stop by. I've been going for years! It was so nice to bring my infant here as I was a little girl coming to them with my mom once upon a time. The food is so flavorful, filling and priced appropriately. The staff are wonderful and family oriented. Not only can you buy food, but drinks, sauces, Trini decorations, flags, cooking ware, spices and dessert! Spent almost $70 only to see that this is what they call dhalpuri. It’s like a burnt Roti skin with no dhal and the buss up shot was raw and burnt. I bought duck and goat which was both hard and had absolutely no taste. The man kept saying his wife makes the best curry duck, I don’t know who fooled him. She needs to go take some cooking lessons. Worst food ever, will never recommend this place to anyone, what a waste of money!!!!

Great food and people. Looks clean love the music. Not handicap accessible! Good prices. Fresh food and fresh fruit drinks. To help out the community the owner can sell small health plates at a lower price i think we should ask for that because some prices are a bit high. It will also bring more business to the shop.

The tender and juicy rotisserie chicken is seasoned and cooked perfectly — they rest the whole birds and cut them to order, to go of course. Definitely recommend, as it’s a solid choice for takeaway! Really good Dominican food! No frills, uncomplicated yet heartwarming meals and a certain local local favorite It’s a small shop with no dine in seating, but the portions were extremely generous and the Chicharrones were both tender and crispy. You can get a plate with different sides, or a sandwich(“chimi”)

Food was great service was great. I had never been in a restaurant like this before. One of my first times in Boston. A lot of things with closed so I didn't choose this place initially but it was clutch. Empanadas were great The door they were made with flaky soft. Ingredients were good. Beef was a little dry the yuca balls were great. To see myself going back for some of their fried chicken as well. It was delicious. Not bad guys, thanks.

Tucked away on the western edge of East Boston is a lovely little restaurant covered in flowers, but design isn’t their only talent. We started off with agua de tamarindo and agua de jamaica. Both were very sweet and packed with flavor. First dish is Bandeja Paisa. Everything on there was great, the chicharrones were cooked perfectly, the arepa was buttery and savory, and the chorizo was amazing. I would’ve liked to see plantains on there - but it was more than enough food. Second dish was quesabirria, it was a perfect mix of cheese and birria and was delicious, especially dipped in the birria consommé. Safe to say I will be back here soon.

EDIT: They think they can strong arm their customers into changing their reviews. Or was it me mentioning them overcharging people? After leaving this original review for 4/5 stars over being overcharged (which apparently has been happening for awhile before I noticed), I was cornered by the owners who were quite upset and aggressive about the four stars review. The prices are still unchanged, nor is there any sign or a warning that the prices are, in reality, higher. So they kept overcharging people and continue to do so, but they do not see past me being a problem "for not talking to them first". When I tried to say that I actually tried to talk to her when she charged me a higher price, she just kept aggressively talk over. I thought I was being quite nice during the whole encounter, but their final "we do not need customer like you" sealed the deal. The problem is that now I am not sure what type of customer they want: The one who does not leave honest and objective reviews (even positive)? The one who submits to their censorship and guilt tripping? The one is ok with being overcharged or too busy to figure it out? The one not knowing her rights? The true colors came off over a 4-star review. Crazy. ORIGINAL: The food is great and everyone is nice. The price on the menue was lower than charged, about 20%.

This is our family’s favorite restaurant! We recently moved out of state and can’t wait to visit next time we’re in Mass. It is such a hidden gem, and there are truly no words to describe how delicious everything is! Bono is our first recommendation to anyone visiting or new to the Boston area, and was always our top choice for everything from birthday dinners, graduation celebration, or stopping through for a quick breakfast or dinner. The staff is always friendly, food is outstanding- full of flavor, and desserts are unreal. 100/10!

Bono is the best welcoming place ever. Fernando the owner is one of the coolest guy I met. Their new breakfast menu is bomb, Pedro the chef cooks really good food. Claudia the waitress is awesome, she always treats me very well. I fully support this business!

This place is a gem and such a big part of the East Boston community. The food is so good- the birria tacos, breakfast sandwich, soups are favorites. We also ordered a big cake for a party from here and it was impeccably decorated and so moist and delicious. Go here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a cocktail!

We've walked by this place a few times already but they have been closed. Finally stopped in today and witnessed an impressive array of Italian food (with some from other countries like Argentina). We got to sample the sun-dried tomatoes (best I've ever had), and the person at the country talked with us and shared a grid / menu of the pasta and sauce combinations they offer. Really great products and very friendly store. We are already planning on stopping by again to grab some stuff for the beach this weekend, as well as some future dinners we have in mind utilizing their pasta. Give this shop a go next time you are around; I'd even venture to say it's work going out of your way!

The pasta that Al - yes, his name really is Al Capone - makes is served in most of the high end and North End eateries. Here you can take it home frozen with any number of to die for sauces, throw in some garlickly shrimp, add that bread, wine to match, a candle and company. uuummh...you'll be loved and lovin it. GO.....read no more GO.

The BEST, my family loves all their frozen meals and the owner and his daughters have been SO accommodating helping me ship and send food to loved ones many times over the years! Even though parking lately has been tough with the construction I would never go anywhere else and love supporting this small business.

An amazing Italian market, where the staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to help you out. They make their own pastas, sauces, mozzarella and ricotta which is outta this world! They also have an assortment of olive oils, balsamic vinaigrettes, Italian cookies, and many other Italian staples. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed!

I normally do not leave bad reviews, but here are the pros and cons. Cons: The music is very loud and you can't hear each other. Many of the guest did not act appropriately for the location by putting their feet on adjacent chairs. One of the manager was also walking around the whole restaurant with a toddler in a carriage. The service is extremely slow. We ordered an appetizer and main plate. However, they served both at the same time. It was 1.5 hours later that we recieved our food, and again, it was both the appetizer and main plate together. The waitress didn't ask if we wanted to receive the food together. I even mentioned that I no longer wanted the appetizer after waiting 1.5 hours, and all they said was the food is prepared and already served. The food arrived cold, and when i mentioned it to the waitress, they suggested heating it up, which would lead to over cooking the meat. They serve the salad with no dressing. The tostones were cold and not crispy. The shrimp Alajillo had flour mixed to make the sauce heavy. The mofongo is $15.00, and the small plate of shrimp is $17.00. They asked what we wanted with the mofongo and failed to mention it would be a separate cost. Paying $17.00 for a small bowl of shrimp is insane. And due all the extras, we paid $250 for 3 people ( drinks included). The food is mediocre and not worth the high price. For this price, I can go to an Italian stake house with better and more sophisticated menus. Pros: The drinks are good. The place is only worth to grab a few drinks and have apps. But the service is extremely slow, expensive and you will receive cold food. The location looks really nice after the remodeling.

Been here a couple times. Service really varies. Some days service is 10:10 others its 2/10. The staff can sometimes get really rude when you complain about clear problems with your food. Music is always extremely loud as well wether your inside or outside. Not the best dominican restaurant in Boston. They could do better

This is by far my worst experience ever dining out. I was craving authentic Spanish food and and nice atmosphere. Everything was going smooth when the host seated us. Then they took a turn for the worst. Our waitress was either having a really bad day or just didn't like us. She never introduced herself to the table. Also our food came out cold. I'm not sure if I will ever go back to this place.

I am in Boston staying at a hotel due to medical reasons. I ordered from Uber Eats for delivery since I don’t know the area and don’t have transportation. I was starving and expecting a delicious hot meal. I opened the food container to find three tiny pieces of “bistec encebollado” and cold rice with some pieces of pegao(the hard pieces stuck to the pot) . The sweet plantains were missing and utensils. I called the restaurant to inquire about the order. The woman responded that it was late in the day and the onions had dissolved. She admitted they forgot the sweet plantains and could not tell me if the small quantity of bistec were due to the order being served that way. She offered for me to go pick up the plantains. I paid for delivery, service fee and tip. The restaurant needs to make sure that my order is hot, complete , and with the proper serving portion . Don’t serve the scraps left over from the day. Poor Service, Poor Quantity, Poor Flavors. I don’t recommend this restaurant. I’ll grade them F for Full Failure.

I remember having my first jibarito here a while back. Couldn’t wait to try another. From then to now something has changed in quality of food, portions, and price. Too bad this place use to be good and had great prices. My sandwiches barely had any meat or flavor. You were great once! Thank you for that.

Portion size don’t fit the price.. $15 for a small of nothing… I’ll never go back again… this is robbery especially for a small hole in the wall… i know why its always empty now… trash business

As a Puerto Rican, this place is a disappointment. When they first opened everything was great but you can really tell the passion is no longer there. The food does not taste like authentic Puerto Rican food, the flavors are bland. The price increase does not match the portion of food. I mean I understand everything is more expensive now but if you are going to chard me more at least make the food taste amazing. I often find myself having to drive more than an hour away to get a taste of back home. :/

The problem with this restaurant is when the mother, the father, or sister are working you get shorted food, they overcharge you for plates. When the son is working everything is good. The plate looks like someone’s already ate off them. For the amount of money they charge. then they look at you like you’re the problem Let you be another race or color. If your a Rican your plate overflows… You don’t get the same service or same amount of food. The mother tried to charge me 18$ for that trash. I told her hell no go me and my money out of there. And will never go again…

I have given this Puerto Rican restaurant numerous attempts on trying to like the food., as a half Dominican and half Puerto Rican it’s very hard to find authentic Puerto Rican food, I am simply reviewing restaurant because I got fed up., I walk in to order BISTEC ENSABOLLADO W/ WHITE RICE AND BEANS and sweet plantains. The food continues to be not great. The bistec look like it was missing soooooo much color, pail, the bistec looked like it was about to pass out. The rice was hard, almost broke my tooth, I didn’t ask for pegao, and it wasn’t pegao, simply undercooked. Everything is expensive, they charge you for anything and everything., I can keep talking about I just sound like an angry bird … never again will I come here… not worth it, never was. This restaurant belongs on the show “kitchen Nightmares” …. I’m done

Nice little restaurant gets very busy during the lunch time that very good salads meals and appetizers little finger foods like empanadas a corn dog other stuff. Their salads are made fresh very good grilled chicken is their sandwiches are cooked made to the order they're all very fresh french fries are very crispy tastes very well. You have a very full glass case of assorted snacks and pastries and cooked meats somebody empanadas could come out very dry that's why you're going to get the little pink sauce with it or the hot sauce.

It's a very small place, the staff rush you to order so it made it very uncomfortable. The food didn't have much flavor/seasoning, the "Natural" Juices also NO FLAVOR 👎 I had a mango juice and it tasted like they dipped mango pieces in the water for 30secs and poured it into the cup VERY VERY BLAND - DISAPPOINTED!! We drove from South Boston for some Good Columbian food and was left looking for somewhere else to eat.

The food is not so bad. I used to go for the bun̈uelos quite often until recently I went to buy some bun̈uelos and a coffee they tasted different. The prices are too high as well, and the servers at the counter are very rude except for one of them.

The food was good as hell to me ! I enjoyed it ! It’s hot in the place , need ac but besides that I really enjoyed my meal . I had shredded chicken over plantain with rice and I can’t wait to get some more when I come visit Boston .

The truth is, the food is not good. I’ve given it several chances, but honestly, it’s terrible. The last time I ordered some tostones with chicken, and the chicken tasted awful. And don’t get me started on the service. There’s only one lady with black and white hair who is super kind and caring, but the rest, especially a man who’s always wearing a cap, has a terrible attitude. I do not recommend this place at all.

Don’t be fooled, there’s definitely better Colombian food places nearby. You’re not missing much. The reason I’m giving this place 1 star is because I’ve been coming here for years. Over 15 years, both service and food has been steady and I continued to give them my business. Recently, while in the neighborhood, I decided to pop in. I was so disappointed with the service. The staff did not greet me. The man who took my order was so rude and condescending. I had him repeat himself because he was mumbling my order back to me. And then he went to the back after taking my order and I caught him and a female colleague giggling in the back. I couldn’t help but think it was at my expense. Speaking of “expense”- the food was shockingly overpriced. A soup with salad cost me $18, it used to be $13 max with a drink. I understand inflation is a culprit, but I am not a clueless yuppie. It’s practically highway robbery. So I paid, left with my order and decided that it’s probably best to never come back- unless I’m desperate. Which will probably never happen seeing as there are soooo many better cheaper more quality options right nearby.

THE BEST empanada in Boston. Their Pikalo Club was also phenomenal, and not too expensive. The salad was a fantastic portion, and it had fresh ingredients. The dressing is homemade, as well as the Flan, which looks fantastic.

No frills takeout spot featuring a TON of different empanadas — from savory to sweet. Ordered takeout with friends and we each ordered 3. These are huge and we quickly realized two would be sufficient. Dough was great. Would definitely encourage cheese with the meat variety otherwise they can get a little dry. More descriptions on the menu would be helpful.

We all ordered Cubans at this place for the the Sandwich was Delicious. Hot, Fresh, cheesy and a very Generous portion...

Used to love coming here but everything has changed I order chicken a shredded beef with ground beef I repeated my order 4 times cause it seems liked no one understand they told me they got it I got my order it was still wrong items were missing things were added they weren’t supposed to be there and no one decided to refund me or remake it .

Pikalo JP has an appealing appearance, yet the prices don't match the quality of the food. Despite claims of fresh-squeezed orange juice, I found it to be neither fresh nor pleasant, with a notably bitter taste. The cheese used in their empanadas also seemed to be of low quality. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I had initially planned to share a positive review and create some social media posts with the photos and videos I took, but after my experience, I've changed my mind.

I love their empanadas, especially the guava cheese which they usually make to order, though it is quite sweet.

Trying a local spot in neighborhood tonight! Got a Picaderas beef pastelito and got 2 beef & cheese empanadas for dessert got a Flan and a Tres Leches Cake! The Picaderas was a mini snack the beef was seasoned well and not too salty at all, the dough was light and airy cooked well and not oily. The empanada was huge didn’t know they made them so big! But that was a great surprise! The dough was flaky and not oily and the beef was fresh tasting seasoned to perfection! Very satisfying! Will try the chicken one next time! On to dessert the Flan was delicious well made good consistency and syrup was not to heavy. The Leches cake was good but most Tres Leches cakes I’ve had had extra cream in container this one was just more like a piece of cake could have used more extra cream. But all and all I was very pleased with everything and will be back!!!!

Parking is insane but if you can secure a spot the food was fresh and delicious. There is one table that's it kind of a grab and go situation. We tried the ham and cheese empanada and tres leches.

Randomly stopped by to grab a couple of empanadas for a few young folks visiting. Was surprised and impressed with the quality and care in the prep. The very large beef and chicken empanadas were not the least bit greasy, a beautiful crust with generous and tasty fillings. The little pastelitos made me wish I bought more. The tres leches cake made my Colombian wife smile. Just like Arnold, I’ll be back!

Bought my dad a birthday cake that was on the shelf. Even after handling the cake with care in the car and having it on a flat surface the cake’s top part slid to one side, meaning the cake poorly made and the structure of the cake was poor. I went back to the bakery, which was an inconvenience, and the staff there gave me push back, said it was my fault and said that they would have to charge me $15 extra to fix it. This shop took no accountability, didn’t care about the satisfaction of the customer and didn’t seem to really care to give me a solution either, had an attitude about it and not a very pleasant vibe. I ended up paying the extra $15 because it was my father’s birthday but the experience was awful.

To my delight, the cake they brought back was an exact match to the picture I found on Pinterest! The precision and attention to detail were impeccable. This is perhaps the best place for Dominican food. I've visited many around the Boston Area, NY and CT and this one takes the prize. Everything is delicious, my favorite is (The 3 Punches) or the Mangu, which is mashed green plantains with fried cheese, salami and eggs.

Please don’t waste your money the smallest plate is $10 and doesn’t come with a side (plantains). I had to order 2 side order of plantains just to find out they were regular fried bananas… They give you small portions and I asked her for more food in my plate and she barely wanted to do that. Also the plantains are regular bananas fried. Wtf. Go anywhere else but HERE

First time trying here thru Uber Eats; I ordered the 3 golpes (Dominican breakfast with mashed green plantain, fried cheese, fried egg, & fried salami with pickled vinegar eggs on top of plantain) & chicken pastelitos (empanada). Wish they would’ve eliminated putting excess oil in my to go box. The pastelitos were a huge disappointment. VERY VERY DRY and you barely get any filling! More dough than anything. Also when in the app ordering, any special requests are not met. Completely ignored what extra I specifically asked for and even typed it in Spanish so nothing would be misunderstood seeing as they’re Dominican, but it seems they were either too busy or just didn’t give a damn to fulfill request. The morir soñando was very bitter but I will be drinking it to help wash down the thick (deliciously smooth mangu) because that would be wasteful. I honestly don’t think I would get anything else from this restaurant. They absolutely MISSED the mark with the pastelitos and thought mayo/ketchup cup to dip in would help. NO! Slapping sauce on dry as hell food doesn’t make it any better!

The two times I've come, they have gotten my order wrong (regular plate instead of family size or queso instead of pollo pastelito). At least the food is good. I recommend the picaderas and pollo guisado to share.

The food is decent but prices are very hi for a regular Dominican food Restaurant. The breakdown on the prices when you add something extra is really tricky.

Since I never walked down Hyde Park Ave in this direction, I didn't realize I had Dominican food right in my neighborhood! My only regret is not eating there early enough. The woman behind the counter was super friendly and explained every item to us, and I ended up ordering this super fragrant rice & beans, tender beef stew, and absolutely delicious okra soaking up all its sauce. I want to go back and try their chicken stew, chicken gizzard, saltfish, everything! Homey comfort food, so worth.

On our recent visit, my girlfriend and I decided to explore their food menu, trying the advertised Colombian Yaroa and the chopped onion sandwich. The Yaroa was a visual match for the photos, a mountain of loaded fries with corn, chicken, bacon bits, small sausages, and a generous drizzle of sauces. At $20, it's a hefty plate. While it looked impressive, the taste was just okay for me. I'd give it a 7/10 – it needed more chicken and cheese (the sausage was a standout!), and honestly, I don't think I'd order it again at that price point. My girlfriend, Pao, agreed, rating it a 6/10 and noting she's had better Yaroas for less. The chopped onion sandwich, reminiscent of a New York chop cheese, also looked just like the photos. The flavor was definitely there, a solid 8/10 for both Pao and me. However, at $11, the sandwich was a bit small, leaving us still hungry. While the size was a drawback, I'd happily give it another try.

The empanadas are great but every time I use the online ordering I get such a messed up order that I never want to go to this location again. Last night I ordered 5 chicken and 2 eggplant. I received 3 chicken, 2 ham and cheese (no, thank you), and 2 egg and cheese. This has happened repeatedly where they aren’t putting the correct empanadas in the bags.

The chicken sandwich never fails. The fries are always crisp. This restaurant serves the best sandwiches in Boston!

First time experiencing Venezuelan food. We ordered a variety of arepas, and I kept repeating myself, saying, “These are heavy.” I guess that’s my main takeaway. I found the food lacking in flavor, but if you’re looking for sustenance, these will do the trick. The ambiance is where the flavor is—nicely decorated with accents of the homeland. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. My take: It’s worth a try. Saluti.

Moving from Florida we were concerned we wouldn’t have a solid Venezuelan food fix. Don Tequeño y Doña Arepa absolutely does the job. They are honestly some of the best we’ve had in both FL & MA. Very well done Tequeños with the shell being slightly sweet complimenting the lightly salty cheese in the middle. The mandocas were also a big hit, and loved them too! We appreciated they weren’t made with anise! We got a pelua arepa where the beef was so flavorful and tender. We also got the Reina Pepiada arepa which was very reminiscent for us. We also had a queso cachapa that was also wonderful! Amazing food, fair price. 100% will be back!

I’ve never had a Venezuelan empanada before as I’m Dominican and have only had Caribbean style. I was pleasantly surprised! The beef was amazing, I was expecting ground beef but it’s actually a nice tender shredded beef and it’s JUICY! Make sure you get some extra napkins! It was also really full they did not skimp on the filling. As far as flavor they were pretty well seasoned too although I prefer a little more salt but the garlic sauce on the side makes up for it! Definitely recommend for catering or a quick lunch!

Most of the menu is available gluten free. Not 100% sure about cross contamination and safety for celiacs, but I get head aches and joint pain when I eat small amounts of gluten and have not had any issues. This place is delicious. The empanadas are huge and to die for. The grilled and fried arepas are amazing

Great Venezuelan food, tried their tequeno and cachapa and both were great. My only issue is the location. There is no parking around, I had to drive around a bit and had to park across the street near a mall and walk back.

I was hungry and tired after work. Asked them to just order any good 2 arepa and empanada for me and they did. Fast and excellent service, food was bomb. Thanks guys

I ordered by phone, and we repeated the order four times because the waitress kept getting confused. I was 8 minutes away from the restaurant, so when I arrived, I had to wait a little longer for my food. It was delivered sealed, and when I got back to my apartment an hour later (because I live far away), a cheese empanada was missing. I called them and asked for a refund of the almost $5.00 for the empanada, and I'm still waiting. Very bad service.
